Starting point is 00:00:00 All right. Hi, Mr. Jake. How we doing? Good morning, Brad. Good morning. Good morning. Who are those teenagers sitting in your lap? I know. Can you believe it? They're getting big, aren't they? He's at, he thought, he thinks you're, you're 14. Are you 14? How old are you? I'm four. You're four? How old are you? Two. Yeah, so you're a little off there, Jake, but holy cow, I was off. Man. that's embarrassing do they ever like have you seen no i'm sure you've seen have you seen like one of your kids or friends kids that was a baby like that before teddy you thought like oh that's a tiny little baby and then now you've seen them you're like oh my gosh that's a monster like have you ever thought that i remember when had he was born and then my nephew who was like two years old came over
Starting point is 00:00:51 i was like holy cow look at his hands they are gigantic i feel like when teddy was first born, just every baby I would see on Instagram looked gargantious. Like you can eat Teddy. Yeah. Yeah. I don't know. I mean, it's one thing to like, yeah, like you just, if you pick up Henry right now, you're like, oh my gosh, I thought Henry was so tiny and now look at him.
Starting point is 00:01:15 He's, yeah. Yeah. You're curling with them or something. Now he's two years old. Two years old. Only two. Henry did learn the hard way the other day. We were at Gunner's house.
Starting point is 00:01:26 He learned the hard way. to walk in front of somebody when they're swinging. He learned the, he got the old time and imps treatment on him. Oh, swinging, swinging. I was like, hopefully not a golf club. No, sorry, yeah, yeah, yeah. Like swinging like.
Starting point is 00:01:42 At Delaney's house. Yeah. My dad's house. Your friend's house. We were, I mean, there was a few times where he, he got lucky, but he walked past it and I said, stop doing that. You got to stop doing that.
Starting point is 00:01:53 And I think he understood. And so I just, and so Gunner was like, yeah, he's going to get hit one of these times. I said, let him get hit. Let the boy get hit. Yeah, it wasn't, honestly, it wasn't nearly as hard of swinging as Timon's was back when he was a little kid. And so I was like, he's going to get hit.
Starting point is 00:02:10 He's going to learn the lesson the hard way. But he's not going to get like anything massively wrong with him. So he got knocked over. He didn't even cry. He just got up and got a little shell shock from it. He got knocked out, but he came to real quickly. I mean, yeah, he was only knocked out for like a half a second, like timing in the swimming pool.
Starting point is 00:02:26 He was fine. No one even noticed. Yeah, dude. Yeah, Catherine doesn't even know until right now. Yeah, what? Nike shirt. Oh, you want to tell him about that? You like my nails?
Starting point is 00:02:41 Wow. I do love your nails. He does. You want to tell him, what were you saying, Henry? You're what? My Nike shoes. Henry's really into his Nike shoes right now. Nike shoes.
Starting point is 00:02:54 Can I wear my Nike shoes? Yeah. Does he red shoe dog? I would recommend it. Phil Knight is his hero. Yeah, I am. We had a, what's it called? Fire Pit Night over here on Thursday,
Starting point is 00:03:07 and Rosie was so hopeful that Mr. Jake was coming over. Is Mr. Jake coming? Maybe Mr. Jake's coming. We should call him and see if Mr. Jay's coming. I said, oh, yeah, maybe we'll do that later, thinking, like, yeah, kids will forget. They always forget.
Starting point is 00:03:20 And then, you know, 15 minutes later, are we going to call Mr. Jake? Mr. Jake might be coming. You go, Bo, I need you to knock out, your little sister. Get on the swing bones. It's time. Uh, uh, oh, oh, I think this tight beat means that it's going down with some random
Starting point is 00:03:40 thoughts in white meat too. Midwest best friends eating fast food on repeat. So come along. Let's have some fun and go ahead. Get on your feet because it's a ghost from a podcast. Oh, man. Let me just say this right now. off the top because this is what I'm thinking about and worrying about. Every once in a while,
Starting point is 00:04:08 you get these texts where you're like, okay, I guess we'll record right now, even though I just got that text or mid, mid, you know, podcast you get a text. Here's a text I got from a random number, 913 number, aka our area code. Brad, I live across the street from your rental at West 72nd Terrace, aka I'm the sign person. I'm pretty upset by the behaviors of your tenants last night. I ended up calling the police. I was hoping you had heard about it. What? I had not. This is the, this is the first. Oh, gosh. So I responded. How does this guy have your phone number? That was, that was a good question. Don't push on that, please. I had a, that was a good question that I'm not sure about. I had given it to a few of the other neighbors, so maybe they got it from them.
Starting point is 00:04:54 But I responded within 15 seconds. I was like, I'm getting on this. I'm showing that we're on the same team here. I will, oh my gosh. No, I had, I truly hadn't. I, I truly hadn't. I have not heard about this. What's going on? Haven't gotten a response from them yet, but I will keep you guys updated. Wow. Yeah. This is a fun story to develop throughout the episode.
Starting point is 00:05:14 It is a bunch of like, we'll call them, they're not finance bros, but they look like a little bit like corporatey bros, if that makes sense. Like, not like low class by any means, but also they all seem, it's like probably six or seven of them. Then they're all just like kind of, I don't know, just that, that. that demographic of like, we've graduated college recently and we're still maybe having a good time.
Starting point is 00:05:39 I don't know. But they seem like they're going. Sorry. What race were they? They're white. Would you say that's an amazing race? Oh my gosh. Yeah, I would say every race is an amazing race.
Starting point is 00:05:57 Red and yellow, black and white. No reason. Keep going. Okay. Yeah, just had a curiosity. Would you let? Oh yeah, you wave into them? You saying hi?
Starting point is 00:06:06 Oh, now you're shy. Yeah. So anyway, but they're still occupying the house right now. So that's why we're here in the basement with all these kids. Dang. Yeah. Which is good. It's a good thing.
Starting point is 00:06:18 But also it's like, okay, what's going on? Called the police. I feel like the police should tell me. Yeah. I think so. If it was actually serious, maybe this person, they kind of have a history of overreacting things.
Starting point is 00:06:30 Yeah, but even then it's like, the police, I don't know. I feel like you should be in the loop from the police first if they were there. I'm assuming they were just too loud, too late at night. That's my guess. I'll look at the videotape. Anyway, what was last night?
Starting point is 00:06:46 Tuesday? What was you on a Tuesday? Dude, that's what. Amazing race. Amazing race does not stop for Tuesday. Oh, yeah. Well, if we have any amazing race fans out there,
Starting point is 00:07:03 You're in for a treat. If we don't have any amazing race fans, you're about to be. That's right. It's true. Tonight is the season premiere of season 39, and we've got two of the contestants' sisters. I looked online. I saw at least one news outlet refer to them as the Bluegrass Sisters. Oh, okay.
Starting point is 00:07:24 All right. I don't know. I think they're just from Kentucky. Who knows? But anyway, the season premieres tonight. They are on the show, and there are listeners. at least one of them, is a listener of the podcast. We said, get them in here.
Starting point is 00:07:37 Yes. So this is Katie and Charlotte Schultz. Okay. Bring them home. Well, here they are. I'm going to guess they didn't win the amazing race. Pretty slow getting on here. Put that in.
Starting point is 00:07:56 Hey. Here they are. What's up? Hello. We're waiting on Charlotte still. She should be in just a minute, though. I'm so excited to be chatting with you guys. Heck yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:11 I was so excited too. Oh, yeah. Charlotte's in the house. Now we're partying. Hi, guys. How's it going? How's the audio for us? It's good.
Starting point is 00:08:22 Okay, perfect. Charlotte, I haven't heard much from her yet. Okay, you sound fine. Yes. Yeah, absolutely. All right. How fun. Thank you all for being here.
Starting point is 00:08:33 Of course. Oh my gosh. We're so excited. You guys are so like you're not twins, but you're twins. We're actually six years. Yeah, we're actually six years apart. But we're sure to gym membership for a while because we look so similar that no one noticed. No way.
Starting point is 00:08:50 That's amazing. I don't think I could do that with anybody. Yeah, that's awesome. That's great. Congrats. Yeah, really. Well, yeah, thanks for being here, y'all. I mean, so we need to learn all about you.
Starting point is 00:09:04 We need to, we hear, Jake says something about bluegrass sisters. Is that right? Is that a thing that we're tagging you as? Oh, it could be. We're from Kentucky. So that is the very common thing around there. We're a little bit more west of like the bluegrass part of the state. But hey, we'll take it.
Starting point is 00:09:21 Okay, okay. Western bluegrass sisters. Yes. Got it. There we go. Love it. And you guys are. What did the show call you?
Starting point is 00:09:30 Like what was your guys as like moniker? Oh, do we have one? I guess maybe you don't know if you haven't seen it. Yeah. We haven't seen anything that much of that. Yeah. So I don't think they gave out monikers this season, honestly. Or maybe that's something they do along the season, but we haven't seen any of that.
Starting point is 00:09:50 And honestly, we see the press, like, once it gets released to the public, we didn't see anything early. Okay. Yes. That's great. Okay. I have so many questions. So, yeah. Okay, first of all, just tell us, so it's Katie and Charlotte.
Starting point is 00:10:05 Tell us about who you guys are. You guys are from Western Kentucky. You guys are sisters. Yes. Henry wants to say hi. And yeah, ghosty. Like, just tell us some of your, yeah, your origin story and just about you, first of all. Because I have so many questions about the show.
Starting point is 00:10:20 But I want to learn about you guys first. So, well, first of all, we got a little bit of press for the show. But a lot of it has been with people that haven't watched before. And they're just like, yeah, we've Googled it. So like, we kind of have some questions. but they didn't really know enough to have a good conversation. So we're so excited to talk about it. But I'm 26.
Starting point is 00:10:37 I'm the second oldest of 12 children. Charlotte is the fifth. And she's 20. And we're six years apart. And we've been living together for about three years. Actually, I just moved to Charlotte, North Carolina. So if there's any ghosties in Charlotte, then I can talk like, I'm looking at your friends. Okay.
Starting point is 00:10:53 Okay. Okay. Okay. But, um, yeah. So we're from a big family. We're both esthetians. So we work at a meds spa doing like phage. and skincare treatments and stuff like that.
Starting point is 00:11:03 Okay. They're going to have some kind of hashtag for that, like, estheticians. Even the fact that you moved in with your sister Charlotte in Charlotte, I mean, that's, am I understanding that correctly? No, that's very confusing. So we were from Murray, Kentucky, and that's where we moved in together. But then I just moved to Charlotte. So that is very confusing. Okay.
Starting point is 00:11:28 Okay, okay, okay, okay. Very good. Okay. Murray, Murray State. Yes? That's where the Murray State is. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:33 Okay, okay, okay. Sure. John Morant, you know, you know. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Very fun.
Starting point is 00:11:40 Okay. And so you said you're a second oldest of 12. Let's go ahead and just talk about that. Do you have anything like time and maybe you can connect with big family? Yeah. I've been around kids. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:53 You know how it goes. So my older sister is 27 and the youngest is five. So anytime I get like baby fever or think about like having my own kids, I'm like, I'll just go home and get my fill there. But it's been such a cool experience. And honestly, that was a big part of like going on to the race and we're doing our interviews and building out our story. Like everybody has this story. You feel like your life is so normal. Like they were asking us, what does it like to grow up with 12 kids?
Starting point is 00:12:19 And we're like, well, what does it like to grow up being an old job? Yeah, you don't know anything different. So learning how to see that from an outside perspective was really cool. and just like all the fun things that we get to do because of it. So that's one part that we really enjoyed. We grew up homeschooled. So that was, again, a unique experience. Right.
Starting point is 00:12:37 Love that. That's so fun. That was a huge part of like our story of why it would be a competitive team on the race because being homeschooled, like we had those random field trips. We would go to the home place, which was like this old Western little like town set up. And we learned how to like spin wool and how to weave and she or sheep. And so we had like all these random skills from being. being homeschooled, that like, we were like, guys, any roadblock you throw at us, we're going to be ready because, like, we grew up hunting and butchering animals. So, like, anything.
Starting point is 00:13:06 Our fantasy commission says for him it's all about the friendships. Cute, Kevin, but I disagree. Like with Bet365, I get paid the second my team goes up big with early payout and can cash out at any time before the game ends. No hard feelings, Kevin. Just faster payouts from Bet365. The home of winning early must be 19 and older. Ontario only. Please play responsibly. If you were someone you know is concerns about gambling,
Starting point is 00:13:31 visit connectsontario.ca or call 18665 through 1,2,600. Terms and conditions apply. That is amazing. I love the idea of, yeah, we've done like real life Oregon Trail like every day of our lives. Exactly. Oh, that's so fun. I just recently went to Chick-fil-A last night and spent $60 on my family of six. And I'm like, I'm like, Catherine, did you guys ever go out to eat? because she's one of six. And she's like, no, we never went out. Like, have you guys been sheltered? Maybe not intentionally, but just because it's like too expensive.
Starting point is 00:14:03 Like, have you ever been to Taco Bell, like in your life? Like, there's certain spots. I was probably over 18. See? Yeah. And that's another thing with the show is the family vacations growing up. We're within driving distance. So, right.
Starting point is 00:14:17 Airplanes are not normal to us. Public transportation is not normal to us because we grew up in a small town. So that was like such an IOP experience. And it was so cool to do that on the race. just because we haven't got to do a lot of it in our life. Yeah. Yeah. What?
Starting point is 00:14:30 I mean, have you traveled much in the past? Like, like, I mean, as far as like, have you been out of the country? Like,
Starting point is 00:14:36 is this the first time truly, like, getting out or have you had some experiences already since then? So for me, the amazing race was my first time leaving the country. Like, we went to the start fine, which was in a different country.
Starting point is 00:14:47 And I was like, wait, like, this is a whole new experience. And then also that first episode was like, my first time hailing a taxi. And I was like, I literally just ran into the road
Starting point is 00:14:55 screaming at him. And I was like, please stop. I love it. That'll do it. It burns. That's awesome. That's so fun. I love the idea of like, you guys, like, Phil's getting ready to do like the thing, like to start.
Starting point is 00:15:08 And you're like, wait, we need what? Like you need a passport. You're like, I did what? Yeah. Yeah, I got a passport just to go on the race. Right. I love that. It was kind of funny.
Starting point is 00:15:18 I love the country one time. So I also do not have a lot of travel experience. But when we were like going along the race, like it's such an adrenaline. thing and there's so much sleep deprivation and the travel's different and all that stuff. Charlotte was like, I don't think I ever want to travel again. And I was like, this is not what like normal travels like. It was like the biggest peak of adrenaline you could ever imagine. And then like just a crash afterwards and you're just like locked up in a hotel room with no phone. And I was like, this is like too much back and forth. Like just highest of high like adrenaline rush
Starting point is 00:15:49 energy and then to nothing. Wait, like what do you mean you were locked up? Like what do you mean by that. Like, is there time in between some days of like you, you get to stay in a hotel and like, you just have time or what do you mean by that? Yes. So like every night after you get done racing, you wait around, usually like outdoors in a park or something. You do your post race interview, like rehash the whole day, which is so fun. Like talk through everything with the producers. And then they round you all up in bands and you're on ice. And so they're always yelling at you on ice, on ice, which pretty much means like shut up, don't talk because they want all of like the good storylines to be on film. So.
Starting point is 00:16:25 The cameras aren't rolling, no one's talking. Wow. And they take us all to a hotel. They put us up for the night. One sec. With the on ice stuff, they cast all these big personalities of people who have great stories and won't shut up.
Starting point is 00:16:37 And then they're like, on ice. It's not much out well. It was so hard. Oh my gosh. I'm sure. Yeah, I'm sure they're like,
Starting point is 00:16:44 yeah, wanting to talk or like, like, like, fuming about something. Or they're like, oh, you know,
Starting point is 00:16:48 whatever. They just can't say, oh, that would be hard for me. Oh, because how long? Like, how long are you waiting?
Starting point is 00:16:54 Like how, Like, is it hours or is it like 30 minutes or what? That would kind of depend on your placing for the leg. Like when you got to do your interview, it could be like a couple hours after you got done racing and you're just like sitting out there in the outdoors. They'll bring you a water or some snacks and then the thing with the race is like you don't know what's going on. You're just, you're racing and you're like the producers and the producer assistants, they're running the show. And so you're just pretty much like sit there in silence until they tell you what to do. and when you're actively racing, like, that's all you, obviously. But anything in between,
Starting point is 00:17:32 anything before, like, when we were prepping for the race and all of that, like, it's very much run by them. Like, the first week when we flew out to L.A. to get started, we were like, oh, my gosh, we're racing. We turned in our phones at the hotel. We went through bag check. We did all of that. And then we went to sleep, and we were like, okay, this is it. Tomorrow we're racing. And then it's, no. Tomorrow they tell you, like, okay, wake up at 8 o'clock and you don't know what you're waking up for. So the first day, we did, like, a rules briefing. And that was for several hours and we just sat through that and we got that was our first time to see all the teams but we couldn't talk to anybody we were on ice and then they told us what time to wake up the next morning
Starting point is 00:18:03 to be ready for and then we were doing a PR meet or an HR meeting and then we had a security briefing the next day and like all these things that you don't even realize you're going on and then the very last day in LA they're like okay we're flying summer tomorrow but we're not racing so like then we had to sit through that it just you don't know what's happening beyond like the next five minutes how was that for you guys like like was one of you more like like like, I'm more going with the flow. I need to know exactly what's going on. I'm more like, I'll wake up five minutes beforehand.
Starting point is 00:18:32 I need to wake up, you know, two hours before it. Esteticians, you've got to get your makeup on probably. You can't just look rough. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Is there anybody that was like, yeah, more stressed? I was definitely go with the flow. Like, I spent probably like 22 hours of the day napping in the hotel room.
Starting point is 00:18:50 We'd get out for an hour day and go to rules briefings or something. And then the rest of the time I was just chilling. I would like sit at the window. We were feeding birds, French fries out of our window. Like a seagull would come fly and get them. Love it. I was just chilling in the hotel room. Katie was not.
Starting point is 00:19:05 I was stressing for most of it because I'm very much a control freak. I like to know what's going on. I want to have a plan. And it's like, this is something I wanted to do for so long. I was like, let me know what's going on. Like I got and there's just nothing. You keep you, there you know nothing. It was honestly a really great learning experience for me.
Starting point is 00:19:20 Just like, okay, let it go and enjoy it. And it's going to be fun. They're going to take care of everything, which was kind of cool. But yeah, like, Charlotte would wake up from a nap, and I'd be like, oh, my gosh, like, I've been so poor all day. You're the only one of this hotel with me. I'm going crazy.
Starting point is 00:19:32 I can't only watch. So much the price is right. And I was like, do you want to play a card game? Like, can we talk? Like, is there anything we can do? And she's like, I'm going back to bed. She's conserving her energy. I like that.
Starting point is 00:19:44 I was very well rested when we started. I love that. I mean, you need, I think you need both personalities. You can't both be high strong, but you also can't both just be chilling. You know, like you have to have a little balance. That's smart of you guys to do that. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:57 It really works out well in the race. Okay. Yeah. And that's a well in the race for us because it was my job to be like details. I'm going to write down the directions, keep up with that. Where are we going? What's the clue saying? Read all those little words.
Starting point is 00:20:11 And it's her job to have her eyes up. Look around what are other teams doing. What's going on in the area? What do we need to be aware of? So that part works out really well. Okay. Love that. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:18 Did you have kind of roles planned out before you ever shot? And then did you develop new roles as this season? in one on. Definitely. Like, we had a whole strategy going into the amazing race, and we'd watched, like, all the previous seasons, and we're like, okay, we know how the race runs. We know what's going to work best for us and as a sister-sister team, what kind of dynamic we need to have to make it through the race. Because you see so many teams, like, fighting and stuff, as our whole personality of, like, Katie being a control freak, and then I'll just go with those flunk. It worked out great. So, like, we didn't ever fight or argue on the race, but we had this whole
Starting point is 00:20:52 picture in our head, like, this is how we're going to run our race. This is how we're going to hold on to an express pass. This is how we're going to U-turn teams. This is how we're going to make friends and then cut them when we don't need them anymore. Yeah, yeah. We got to the start line, and they threw in such a big twist that just, like, kind of turned everything on end. So you're constantly like, tune in tonight on CBS. So we're just like constantly, like, adjusting throughout the day because there's so much stuff you don't plan for.
Starting point is 00:21:18 I love it. And even without the twist, there's so much that you don't realize this happening on the race. When we did, so when you're in L. like prepping for the race, like before you actually start, um, you do a practice run of a leg in a conference room to like get used to be on camera, to get used to how that's going to work. When you're on camera, there's a lot of things that you don't realize you're happening that are happening. So like, we always had to stand on certain sides of each other. So it's always Katie Charlotte on camera. We always have to sit in certain spots in the taxi. So we're in the
Starting point is 00:21:44 right order. When we read the clue, we have to be facing a certain direction so the lighting's good at all these little things. And then you're trying to do these tasks. You're trying to need your brain. Your adrenaline's going crazy. And they're asking you like five million questions in your ear. And so then you're like trying to talk at the same time. So like that all was like, we came back from that practice and we were like, okay, we need to like restragize. This is totally different. Oh, interesting. Wow. Then the rest of the night in the hotel, one if you just got an air pod in, just like annoying the other one here. Just like, you gotta get used to this. I would forget that I was miced up. And so like they'd be asking us questions and like,
Starting point is 00:22:16 kind of annoying us. And I'd tell Kate, I'd whispered to Katie. I'd be like, would they just shut up? And she'd like, they heard that. And I was like, dang it. There's a couple of those. Okay, Charlotte, you're still miced up. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Ice, Charlotte. Yeah, you're not on ice. You're very hot right now.
Starting point is 00:22:33 So wait, are you, is there somebody in your ear all the time? Or just for that practice? No. Training you kind of. So they're not in our ears. Like we can't hear that. When they're talking to us, they're just talking to us like normal. But our mics are running straight to a pair of headsones on the sound guy's head.
Starting point is 00:22:48 So he can hear us the whole time. Sure, sure, sure. Okay. Gosh, I have so many questions. Let's just go back to the beginning. So, like, you, which one of you said that you had heard about the Amazing Grace basically because we mentioned on the podcast? Is that right?
Starting point is 00:23:01 Oh, that was me. And I honestly didn't even realize this until kind of recently. And I was like, wait, why did I start watching? I was like, oh, yeah, it was the Ghostrunners podcast. Like, you guys did it sound so cool. And so I was like, if they want to be on it, I want to go watch. So then I started watching. And I was like, this is the best show ever.
Starting point is 00:23:18 Like, I need to go on. And I actually asked, I think two of my older. siblings to go on with me because they were the only was there above 18 at the time and I was like would you guys go on me and they were like it doesn't really seem like our thing and I was like are you kidding me this is amazing but honestly thankfully they didn't because seeing the show like we would not have been good personality together on the show yeah yeah and then Charlotte moved in with me like what two or three years ago and then we started watching together since then and that's why we decided to apply that's so fun okay and so you became obsessed you yeah you became somebody
Starting point is 00:23:52 who's like writing down patterns and trying to figure all this out. So Timon, just before this started, like, time was like, I don't really know the amazing race. You never watched it, right? Yeah, I was like, I don't know if I'll have anything to ask about. Yeah. But I guess that maybe gives me more to ask about, like, not knowing much about it. I mean, but obviously, like, the main concept of the amazing race is these,
Starting point is 00:24:09 however many 12 teams that start out. I don't know. There was 13 a season. 13. Oh, twist. Big twist. And, no, but like, and they all just go from like, you know, challenge to challenge and trying to figure out like the next,
Starting point is 00:24:24 they call it a, what did they call the last thing? Not a checkpoint. Oh, the pit stop. Pit stop is like the next, like whoever gets their first usually gets like a, you know, extra prize for winning or whatever. But yeah, I like the idea of Trim and, time and try to piece this together just from what he's heard today. So you have to go from country to country without getting ice called on it?
Starting point is 00:24:46 Is that what this show is? On ice. Yeah, there's just all these agents everywhere. Okay, but the thing that I'm most like enamored by or like, and this is probably the thing that time and could relate to the most is like the production aspect of all of it. Like so so you told me like there's people like yeah, talking to you and but I'm so do you have one camera guy the whole time or is it like multiple camera people per team? And I'm always amazed like you're running and doing all these crazy things.
Starting point is 00:25:16 But then like they have to have camera people that are running what behind you. or in front of you going back, like, how, how does that aspect of the whole thing work? I'm so, that, that to me is like, you guys are running as fast as you can. I'm sure they're not trying to slow you down at all. But also it's like, they got to get the shot or else it's all worthless, right? That was like a huge learning curve. Like, they told us that from day one at the rules briefings. Like at the end of the day, we are filming a TV show.
Starting point is 00:25:44 And so like, that was like you had to keep that in the back of your mind. Like they are trying to get the shot. They're trying to get the clip. All of that. You had a 20-foot rule with your cameramen. And so sometimes you were waiting a little bit on your camera crew, which is so fair. They have a 20-pound camera with them. They're trying to like keep up.
Starting point is 00:26:00 And yeah, that was like a little, just like things you have to get used to is that like you do have two people tailing you. And then with the sound guy, every time you ask for help, because like you see people on the show and you're like, why don't they just ask for help? Go ask for directions. You guys are lost to ask for help. And it's like every time you ask for help, those people have to sign a waiver. They have to fill out this form of a description and like what they said in the show. And then your sound guy has to like explain like, hey, we're making a TV show about traveling. Will you be in it?
Starting point is 00:26:27 Can you sign this form? And a lot of times you're in a foreign country. They're like, I don't know what's going on. They don't want to do it. Right. And so it takes time. And so, yeah, like, yes, you are filming a TV show at the end of the day. So you're trying to be patient.
Starting point is 00:26:40 But, like, also, it was so stressful having to wait for signatures, wait to chase people down. Yeah. I bet. That's crazy. Okay. So every single time, because that makes sense, I've never seen somebody like blurred out on a on like when they're talking about that and back in the day I feel like everything you watch people's faces were blurred out and now it's like they're all in there um okay so that's interesting
Starting point is 00:27:01 they have to sign waivers oh wow okay and so you have two cameramen it sounds like and a sound guy with you see one cameraman and one sound guy and you guys have to stay within 20 feet of each other as racers and then within 20 feet of them and so but the sound people and the camera crews on the amazing race are considered like elite in the industry because it is such an active thing I think they told us there was like three or four shows that all used the same camera people because it's such a different skill than like typical camera people. So each team has their own camera person, own sound person. And then there's also a ton of crew at the start of the race, at the finish, at the pit stops with filled. We started the first leg on sea planes and we flew up in the sea planes and our camera crews were on there with us.
Starting point is 00:27:44 And then we're getting off. And when we landed, that's when we saw like the first time, the full scope of how much casting crew there is. and it was insane, like just lining the docks. Really? Yeah, that's so fun. Oh, my gosh, that's crazy. Every morning, let's say you wake up and you're in, you know, Budapest and you're about to start your next day. Do you get assigned like a new cameraman for the day?
Starting point is 00:28:09 Like are there, I imagine you're like, oh, great, we got this guy. He's like the slowest one. Yeah, that's a good question. Well, so every team is assigned one from the beginning, and that's like your main crew and you have them for a few legs. I don't really know why you don't rotate off the beginning, and I guess just to help you get comfortable and adjusted, but then after a while,
Starting point is 00:28:25 then everybody starts rotating through to kind of make it more fair. We were deadly to sound men. We ended up going through a bunch of sound men in the first couple legs because they kept getting injured. And so, like, our crew was, like, rotating through, like, crazy. But everybody else was, like, set for the first few legs. Oh, elite my foot. Yeah, right.
Starting point is 00:28:45 So, but, yeah, yeah. Wow. I still have more production question. I remember thinking this, even when I was watching this, like, in high school, just like, yeah, it's chaotic. We have to get over there in five minutes, Hala taxi. And then somehow the cameraman is, like, sitting shotgun. I mean, like, how does that all work? The dynamic of, like, let's make sure he gets here and we get here.
Starting point is 00:29:09 Is that take forever sometimes? So that was part of the rules briefing is, like, they told us, like, this is so strict. Like, if you get in the taxi in the wrong order, we'll make you get out and get in again. So the camera guy always goes ride shotgun The sound guy is next to you behind the passenger seat And then the two racers are behind the driver That way you can out with the racers and the driver all in the shot And so you have to like keep your order
Starting point is 00:29:32 So like I always sat in the middle And then she always sat by the door Okay Huh And then did you Oh go ahead yeah Sorry everywhere you go You're also like buying tickets for your sound guy and your camera crew
Starting point is 00:29:47 And so anywhere you go, you have to buy four plane tickets, four metro tickets. All of that is like you have to take care of them somewhat as well. I can't believe you have to take care of that. I think because otherwise, like, if they weren't able to buy a ticket or there's only two tickets available, you can't leave because then they don't have a show. So since everybody has to do it, it makes it fair still, but it's like they have to make, they told us that. They're like, this isn't your race around the world, but it's also being funded by the TV show. So if we don't have a TV show, we don't, we can't race. So it kind of goes to be in.
Starting point is 00:30:17 hand. Were there other rules that you can remember right now that are just like you have to get in the car the same way every time or like I'm even thinking about like the rug or the mat? Like are there other like rules that maybe the viewer doesn't isn't aware of that you guys learned? One of the main ones is if you don't read the clue clearly, you have to reread it again and again until they get a good shot. What else? If your Canber crew deems that you're driving is unsafe at any point, they'll give you a warning. And you get three warnings. They told us this in the rules briefing, and we're like, oh, three warnings per leg, because we're both terrible drivers. And they're like, no, three warnings for the entire race.
Starting point is 00:30:56 And we're like, oh, shoot. Oh, wow. And it's just like, if you slam on the brakes too hard, anything that they're uncomfortable with, they can just be like, hey, warning. So we were like, okay, we got to drive so careful, guys. Wow. And what's the punishment if you drive crazy four times? Then you start getting time penalties. Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 00:31:16 And then eventually, are you out ever? I'm not for sure. I'm sure we got at a certain point. They wouldn't let you drive, but, like, I would probably have to be pretty egregious. Sounds like you didn't get a fourth warning, so good job. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Come on, Timmy, get in there, Tyman.
Starting point is 00:31:35 Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, macer. Roasters. Yeah. Yeah. Woo! Nothing like them. like them. No, sir. We had to cut this part out of the episode, but I asked Katie and Charlotte, I said, how did you, how did you do it? Uh-huh. How did you keep going city after city,
Starting point is 00:31:59 country after country? And they said, I'm actually not supposed to talk about it. And then Charlotte started to talk, but then Katie said. Charlotte was a little delayed, so that Katie, yeah. Oh, that was great. Oh, they were awesome. They were so fun. I did love that, though. They were both so eager to answer, which I loved. Anyway, that's so funny, David.
Starting point is 00:32:27 I asked them, yeah, how do you do it? And they both simultaneously said, well, I remember that. And I said, whoa. And then they said, actually, we can't talk about this. It's in our contract. It's part of our NDA. You're going to have to cut this out of the episode. But we were drinking Main Street Roasters the whole time.
Starting point is 00:32:46 Yeah. They can't say it, but we can relay what they said. Also, they won the amazing race, F. Y. Maggie took me. Also, they didn't want us to say that either. Yeah. But I could tell.
Starting point is 00:32:58 Yeah, maidsureo-roasters.com, best coffee around. Use our promo code. Timon, do you know what it is off the top of your head or do I? I think it's GR-K-C. It's G-R-K-C. You got it right. 10% off. Mainsteroastero.com.
Starting point is 00:33:08 Best coffee. I actually just got a notification. Mainssteroaster's is being delivered today to my house. And I'm very excited about. It's being delivered? Being delivered. Wow. Wow.
Starting point is 00:33:18 We're all human beings. Yeah. Sorry, Charlotte. Secret lies with Charlotte. That's right. We don't know, dude. See you're on to Charlotte? We don't know.
Starting point is 00:33:33 Nastyroaster.com. GRC, 10% off. Let's go. That's pretty fun. I would at least like, yeah, after two, I'd be like, surely they're not just going to like, willy-nilly give me a third one. Like, I go kind of crazy.
Starting point is 00:33:44 He risked it? Yeah. I'd be messing with the sound guy, the guy who's already been injured three times. You ever seen him give somebody three warnings in one week? Step on it. Okay, so yeah, it wasn't a rule that one of you had to drive and one of you had to not drive? Or was that something that you had to decide beforehand? Well, so originally, this is kind of funny.
Starting point is 00:34:04 When we were prepping for the race, neither of us knew how to drive stick. And they were asking us all during the casting, which casting was like a six-month process. They were asking us the whole time, multiple times. Like, oh, what do you know us how to drive stick right? I'm like, yeah, yeah, knowing that, like, we can figure it out. It's when it got to that point. So when we found out we made it, we bought a stick shift car to learn how to drive. And so the plan was for Charlotte to drive because she's like marginally better driver than I am and I'm better in directions.
Starting point is 00:34:28 And then we got to like the week before we were going to leave for the race. And they were like, oh, by the way, Charlotte's 19. Like she can't drive most rental cars in most countries. So like, heads up. And I was like, oh. So that was really bad news. Wow. Okay.
Starting point is 00:34:42 Dang. That's what. that you bought a stick shift car just to practice. Yeah. No, we wanted to be really comfortable. I love that. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:50 Tell us about, tell us about more of the casting and also the prep that you guys did. Yeah. That is another thing I'm curious about. I was like, how much, how much time do you have, yeah,
Starting point is 00:34:59 once you're chosen to like prep or like, when do you know? And also, yeah, what'd you do to prep for it? The whole casting process was insane. Like, we honestly didn't know what to expect at that at all either.
Starting point is 00:35:10 We sent a video in, and we had, heard back after like a month and I was kind of like well I guess they don't want us I almost sent in a second audition video because I was like I really want to be on but then like a little over a month later we heard back and that really started the whole casting process but we were talking to other teams after we got on because to us a month felt like forever but some of the teams were in casting for like years before not before they heard back but before they got on so we heard back about a little over a month and then that first person that rages out to you is your casting producer
Starting point is 00:35:41 and we were kind of like nervous about it. We didn't know what to tell her. We didn't know how honest to be. But it turns out she's your coach on the process. So she's really trying to help you develop your story, be really honest with this person, like help you present your best picture to the casting director because they're the ones that make more of the cuts.
Starting point is 00:35:57 So then you go meet the casting director and then you make CBS and then you meet the producers. And like there's so many rounds of cuts. It was a lot. Cheryl can tell you a little bit more about how much it was. Oh, my. No, we got maybe like, it was like months long of a process.
Starting point is 00:36:12 And so we got like maybe two or three months in. We had signed so many waivers. We had gone and got vaccines. We had gone and got blood work done. All these hoops you have to jump through. And I told Katie, like, another round of like medical information came through. And we had to fill out. And I was like, no, I'm done.
Starting point is 00:36:26 I was like, this is so much work. We're probably not even going to make it. There's still like thousands of people like in the pot to like get picked with the amazing race. Like there's no way they're going to pick us. I'm done. And she's like, no, please. Just like, just a little bit more.
Starting point is 00:36:38 And like, thank God we stuck. with it, but it would so much. Just a little bit more blood, Charlotte. Come on. No, I actually almost passed out when I was giving blood. Like it, oh, I don't like blood. That's crazy. I mean, yeah, there's the whole process, I'm sure it's just been so, I'm sure it was
Starting point is 00:36:56 amazing, like all that process and then right when said go, and you're just like, this is all, it's all going. And yeah, I obviously you can't talk too much, I'm assuming about the results or anything like that. And we're excited to watch. And I think we need to have you. you on consistently throughout the season until you guys. Tell you behind the scenes.
Starting point is 00:37:14 Because that's what I'm so curious. I'm so curious about the editing as well of like once it comes out like, oh, they made this look way worse than it was. Or they made me look mean right here and I wasn't me. You know, I'm so curious how they're going to edit you guys because that's what I was talking to my friend that did that extracted show. And he's like, dude, they said I, they bleep me out and I didn't cuss. Like, you know, all these different things.
Starting point is 00:37:36 Yeah. So I'm really curious. So, yeah, I'm very. curious to see how that all goes. But I mean, I'm sure it's like- One thing I learned being on the show was to have so much grace for anybody that's on reality TV. Like you always watch me, like, why did they say that? That was so dumb. Why'd they do that? Like, one minute. But one of the legs, so we, they woke us up at 1 a.m. And we headed straight to the airport. We sat there for like 12 hours until it was almost lunchtime. Then we flew out. We had
Starting point is 00:38:02 like an eight-hour flight. We had a layover. We had another three-hour flight. Then we landed in that country and immediately started racing, which is normal. And, So, like, you're so sleep deprived at that time. Like, your adrenaline's been going for so long. And, like, you're trying to rest on the planes. But, like, you don't have a phone or anything. And also, you're not super comfortable. And you're, like, still on TV.
Starting point is 00:38:19 So it's kind of weird. And so, like, your brain is just so different when you're on TV. Wow. Yeah. Yeah. Did you eventually become comfortable where it was like, I'm not even worried about the, you know, the microphones, the camera people like, because eventually you see people like scream at each other. And it's like, surely they're not worried about the cameraman.
Starting point is 00:38:39 the sound guy at that point. Like, it's just like, it's time to get mad about it. Yeah. Honestly, you adjust to being on camera really quickly. Even, like, through off the first leg, I would say, like, you weren't even thinking about it anymore. Yeah. The adjustment to, like, being on camera was super fast.
Starting point is 00:38:55 And, like, after, like, leg one or two, like, you just kind of, like, get used to having, like, people with you, filming you, like, in your face all the time. But you never got adjusted to, like, the race adrenaline. It was never like, oh, just another day racing, like, chill. Every time you ripped open a clue to read. it like it was just another surge of adrenaline like your brain is like in a frenzy and that was really hard to adjust you because like you're trying to like navigate through a foreign country foreign language and your brain's just like so jittery you can't focus so that was really
Starting point is 00:39:23 hard and i was like we'll settle in we'll settle in it'll be good and like no we never slept it we don't settle in well but we were raised some of the teams that we were racing at like one of the teams they're professional soccer players or like just he was more experienced like you could tell, like, I don't know, maybe they handle their nerves a little better than we do. And I think that's one thing that we didn't, like, prepare for at all was the adrenaline. Because, like, you know you're going to have adrenaline. You know you're going to be excited, but you do not realize how much it's going to hit you. Well, like, in hindsight, how would you have prepared for that? Like, I don't even know how you prepare for something like that because you can't force yourself
Starting point is 00:39:56 to, like, be freaked out, right? Right. I don't really know how you would, I guess, like, besides just being on a big stage more often, but. Yeah. Yeah. I think it's because, Actually, I think learning ways to cope with it and, like, calm your nerves, because it's kind of like anxiety at some point. Like, not the same, but like that same feeling of like, okay, I need to like realize I'm panicking and like take a breath, calm down. And then learn how to work through that. We should have done some yoga and meditation before we left. Yeah, right, right. So good.
Starting point is 00:40:28 Gosh, well, I'm excited. Yeah, Jake, what are you got? How are you guys feeling right now? Because this is so interesting. Like, you know you're about to be on CBS for, you know, who knows? how many weeks, you know, but right now you guys are normal people. Maybe you've done a little bit of press, but like your lives are about to change somewhat. Like, how does this transition feel? I feel like it still hasn't quite hit me. Like, this podcast is making it more real. I'm like,
Starting point is 00:40:55 oh yeah, thanks for picking up again. Like, amazing race. But it was like, we filmed it so long ago. Like, there's days we're like, I just kind of forget that I was on. And then like, now that it's getting closer, I'm like, the like the nerves are building up, but I'm still like, I don't think going to hit until like I see myself on TV. It's just, it feels like a dream. Like, honestly, it feels like a dream from like a long time ago. It's so weird. Yeah, okay.
Starting point is 00:41:16 So it's September of 26 right now. When did you guys? Well, I guess I can't ask when you stopped filming. When did you start filming the show? We started filming September 18th of 2025. Wow. So like a year ago. Oh my gosh.
Starting point is 00:41:31 Because it takes about a month to film the show. So yeah, it's been a full year for sure. That's wild. And you just had to like sit on this. Like, well, I can't, I'm, I want to ask this question, but you can't answer this question, so don't answer this question. But I'm so curious how many people you have told anybody, even though you're not allowed to tell anybody. Because of course you haven't told anybody. Well, of course you haven't told anybody.
Starting point is 00:41:50 Your family does all have to sign NDAs, though, so you are allowed to tell your family, which is super helpful. So that was a lot of people for us that we had to tell. They're really worried about your family. The five, did the five-year-old have to sign an NDA? Maggie had to sign an NDA. That's amazing. I love that. That's so funny.
Starting point is 00:42:10 Maggie. Maggie might be the easiest one to crack. Let's be honest. Let's get her on the podcast and figure out what happened to him. Do you think Maggie knows anything? Like, does she understand what is going on at all? Oh, for sure. They all love to watch the show too.
Starting point is 00:42:23 So like when we were preppy, they would like watch seasons and they would tell us like, oh, don't do this and make sure you do this and don't forget to pack this. And so that's another thing that we haven't really talked about. And if you guys watch the show, you probably know. But everything you need for the month, you have to carry in your back. So you have to pack in a backpack and bring anything you need from laundry soap to hair tools, makeup, clothes. We brought snacks. Okay.
Starting point is 00:42:47 And he's sort of like not survival gear, but like if you want timers or clocks, like they take the alarm clocks out of your room in your hotel room. So you have to bring like alarm clocks and stuff like that. So that all adds up really quickly in your backpack. And Charlotte carried our backpack the entire race. It was amazing. We decided to do one backpack. And that honestly worked out great just to like stuff it all in one. But that was one stuffed backpack.
Starting point is 00:43:11 Geez, yeah, I bet. Is there anything you're like, yeah, if you could do it again, would you have taken something out of the backpack or added more in? Or like, like, what was something that was like, oh, I need that. And you're like, no, I didn't need that. I didn't need laundry soap. We never washed our clothes, you know. I was pretty strict.
Starting point is 00:43:28 I did not allow anything that wasn't a necessity in there. Like, we didn't bring a curling iron. We brought bare minimum makeup. I don't know. Honestly, not bad. Like, I think we did really good with our packing. I know a lot of teams, they were like, we got through leg one and we ditch so much gear.
Starting point is 00:43:44 And we really didn't have to do that. Charles is on the marathon, though, so she was beating me the whole time anyways. Just beast. Yeah, that's crazy. That's so fun. I'm so excited to watch. Truly, I want to have you guys on again if that's okay with you.
Starting point is 00:43:59 Like, I want to ask questions. I want to be like, okay. Let's be more fun once we can, like, talk about what we've seen. like what's already happened. Yes, exactly. I want to ask you questions. If any ghosties are in Chicago, we're doing a, we're not hosting, one of the other team is hosting, but there's going to be a bunch of teams on October 3rd, which is the
Starting point is 00:44:15 Saturday after the premiere, we're going to do like a watch party and like meet the team. So if you're in Chicago area, you should come down. Okay. That's awesome. You got to, yeah, ghosties got to go. You got to show up for that. That's so fun.
Starting point is 00:44:25 And so how, are you guys both listening to the podcast or is it more Katie? Mostly just Katie. Whenever we're on a long car trip together, she forces me to list. But hey, I will start listening now. No, no, no, no, no pressure. I'm just curious, I'm curious, yeah, to know, you know, how you, like your ghosty origin story as well. Oh, for me? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:44:47 I don't even know. I know. I also listened to Trey Kennedy at the time, so I don't know if I found him through you or you through him, but something along those lines. Okay. And have you listened for a while or is it like kind of recent? No, I've been listening for years. Okay.
Starting point is 00:45:02 I've definitely listened to the whole thing, like at least two. two or three times. Let's go. But I've got to be started like maybe 10 episodes. Yeah. Yeah. Love it. Maybe like 10 episodes in is when I found you guys.
Starting point is 00:45:14 That's crazy. Wow. That's, that's, yeah. So you're an OG as we call. Oh, yeah. Wow. Oh my gosh. I'm so excited.
Starting point is 00:45:20 I was at F12. F12 was one of my sisters, actually. You were? Yeah. Holy cow. That's fun. I wish I had a better memory of that. But I'm sure.
Starting point is 00:45:31 Did we meet you? Did we get a hang? Maggie was there. Now you was the six-month-old that was there. Right, yeah. That's right. No, we didn't want to wait in line to talk to you guys. You had too many fans.
Starting point is 00:45:39 Oh, dang. Well, thanks for coming to F-12. Yeah, that's so fun. Oh, my God. F-12 was when Jake announced he was dating Rachel, right? Yes. And we got to meet Santo Mac. It was quite a night.
Starting point is 00:45:52 Wow. That was a great night. Oh, my gosh. That's so fun. Wow, that's crazy. You came. That's amazing. Thanks for coming.
Starting point is 00:45:59 Yeah, you were a lifelong fan. That's awesome. Jake, you got any more questions? Time. I mean, I'm sure I could ask more and more and more, but I think once we watch some more episodes, I would love to get you guys back on and just rehash some more.
Starting point is 00:46:14 Because I'm invested. I think ghosties are going to really latch on to this and be interested as well. I'm so excited. I know you said, oh, sorry. I know you said the thing about, like, having more grace for people on reality TV, but if there's anything else,
Starting point is 00:46:26 if you're like, all right, if I could say one thing to everyone out there before you watch the show or before you watch any reality show from this point forward. Here's something you need to know. There is no bonding time like being on reality TV
Starting point is 00:46:40 because nobody has a phone and there's so much downtime which we were on ice a lot of it but when you're not like the relationships we have with the racers is so close. Like we've been on multiple trips since then with them.
Starting point is 00:46:51 Oh wow. And it's just super cool. It's like obviously they're going to show some drama and I'm sure there's teams fighting and whatever. But the relationships you build because it's such a unique experience
Starting point is 00:47:00 that you just like those are lifelong friendships that we're going to have. That's cool. Yeah. That's really cool. Obviously, you don't know how this is going to be edited. Do you have in your mind, like, was there any crew that is like the villains of this season? I don't think they normally do that necessarily, but is there, there is an obvious one? Oh, yeah. They know it. It's really funny. Yeah. It's kind of a joke, but we have a big team group chat and we've talked through all the drama, everything that happened. Who had some backstabbing. Yep. Wow. So, okay. So it won't be a surprise to you when it comes out. You're like, oh, no, they treated people the worst. They were the worst.
Starting point is 00:47:39 Yeah, we definitely know who the villain of the season is going to be. Wow. We're really excited. We're kind of editing it. It's just so weird to see yourself from an outside perspective, but I think it'll be fun. What if they're the villains and we're just like talking about these sweet girls? Oh, we know who it is. Family of 14. They're like, yeah. Finally. amazing. Well, yeah, thank you all for coming on. This is a treat for me. I mean, I'm a huge amazing race fan, so I'm so glad that, yeah, we could somehow affect the amazing race history in some small way of telling you about it. I'm a big ghostrunner's fan, so it's an honor to be on. Absolutely. Yeah, that's so fun. Yeah, timing. You got anything else you want to say?
Starting point is 00:48:22 I don't know. I was just like thinking about did it take you, how long did it take you to like, because you mentioned something about you have to look this direction for things. Like I'm guessing that's a lighting thing, that's, like, fascinating to me. Like, did you catch on pretty quick, like, where they wouldn't have to stop you? Were you, like, new, where to look for different things? Like, how did that go? No, you didn't catch on quick? We were not pros in the production part. They were pretty quick. Like, okay, stand right here. And so we just stand there and we read the clue. But for me, at least, I was so unaware of, like, all the major things. I was just, like, so zoned in on. What is this clue going to say? That I was not paying attention.
Starting point is 00:48:54 You have enough other things to think about that you're like, just tell me where to stand. Yes. Wow. And then I had one more thought, like, when they're doing interviews at the, like, I guess end of every day or whenever they would like interview you guys, like, was that different than you expected? Like, how was it? Did you have to say things a certain way? Like, did you have to rephrase a bunch of things? I don't know, because I'm like, you know, a normal person sharing something is not going to probably be quite how they want it for TV or maybe it is. Yeah. I think that's a big part of the casting process. Oh, go. Do you want to talk? I talk too much. She's always cutting me off. Control-free. Get faster internet. That's right. Little sisters have to just butt their way in sometimes.
Starting point is 00:49:37 Yeah, that's right. That's right. But it was easier than I would have expected. Like, they had such a good line of questioning. Our sound guy would send them notes throughout the day. Like, oh, ask me about this. This happened. And so they have, like, a super great system to, like, draw the story out of us.
Starting point is 00:49:51 And obviously, by the end of the day, we were so ready to talk and just, like, share all of our thoughts from the day. So it flowed out, like, a lot easier than I would have. thought. Cool. The end of day recap were really easy. Oh, go ahead. Sorry. Did they make you talk in present tense or did you get to like debrief the day as if it had already happened? We could prove it like it already happened, I think.
Starting point is 00:50:12 I think like yeah. But and honestly like the end of day interviews like after we had raced, that was so easy, so fine, like it's so fresh. The pre-race interviews when we're going over like our whole backstory and telling them about ourselves and all of that stuff, first of all, we've already done that through six months of casting. So at this point it sounds like old. news. It's so boring. But I think
Starting point is 00:50:30 that's part of the casting process is like they find the people that know how to talk, which was kind of interesting because, I don't know, like, we feel like really normal people, like, we're just normal people. And then we got on the race and we're meeting all these other teams and we're like, oh my gosh, you're so cool. Oh my gosh, you're so cool. I can see why you were cast. And everybody was such a cool person with such an interesting story and we're like,
Starting point is 00:50:48 why are we on this show? So trying to see yourself from an outside perspective was kind of hard for the interview, but they were really good at like asking questions. And that from a sound perspective is kind of funny because all this is outside. So for the race, like that's all, none of it's reshot. But for the pre-race interviews, we kept having like planes fly over us. So they'd be like, okay, pause, we got to re-ask this question. So we have to
Starting point is 00:51:11 reiterate some of that stuff. I got to pet a boom mic for the first time. I was really excited about that. I always wanted to touch one. They look so intriguing. And that's awesome. It was awesome. It was so soft. Everything I ever dreamed It's like made my race experience I do feel like the post race interview is That is the most like that I analyze the show Because like you have to
Starting point is 00:51:40 I know that they are doing post race interview But they're doing it throughout the show And so I'm trying to analyze their attitude Of like if they're the ones that got out They're going to be just a little bit more melancholy In this post race interview And so you know it's like halfway through the show but they might, you could tell it's like, oh, that looks like the end of, like, you know,
Starting point is 00:51:57 it's, it's nightfall in this, in this shot. And so that's my, that's my little tip to the watchers out there is watch for the post-race interview and how they're acting. And they do such a good job of incorporating it. They almost don't notice unless you're paying really close attention. But if you are paying attention, you can get some clues for sure. Ding, ding, ding. Yeah, every once in a while, it's like obvious.
Starting point is 00:52:15 Like, they're like, all muddy or something. It's like, okay, they're clearly they did something in the mud. But like, most of the time, it's just a different shot. But, yeah. What is the, um, biggest piece of advice you would give to someone who wants to be casted on the Amazing Race someday? If you want to be cast in The Amazing Race, I think you need to pick two or three really small, really niche things about your personality and your story and really learn to expand and tell them to someone
Starting point is 00:52:44 succinctly. Because when we were going through the casting process, that's not when they're asking the leading questions. They're not trying to draw it out of you at that point. That's kind of like, you either shine or you don't, and that's on you. So like, learn how to, pick out enough of your life that you can like make it a complete story without rambling on about like a bunch of random little things. And so what were the couple things that you guys did? We talked a lot about our homeschool background and how we have unique skills from that. And then how they were looking for strong female female teams this year. They really wanted to see some female shine this year. And so we talked a lot about our running. Katie also runs
Starting point is 00:53:21 marathons. So we run a lot of races together. We're always doing crossfit together, super fit. So we talked about, like, our homeschool background and unique skills, our physical ability, and then how close of a relationship we have. Growing up, like, with so many siblings, obviously, no one had a free bedroom. Like, we are all piled in on top of each other, like eight siblings in a bedroom. And so we got so close from that. We've been close since we were born. Barn animals. And so that's like some of our unique points. Eight truly in one room? Yeah. We did that for.
Starting point is 00:53:57 whole year and then we thankfully switched it up. How did you, what was the bed set up? We had eight sisters and four brothers. So like we had girl girls room for a while. Wow, just like a sliver party every night. That's crazy. How, what were the beds set up? We got multiple bunk beds. We got, we got kids on the floor. Okay. Yeah. That's fun. Every once in while it's like, should we just put all the kids in one bed or one room and then like have a whole other room just like to play in or something? I've had that thought. Catherine does not think it's as good of a thought as I have. But, eight in a room. That's amazing.
Starting point is 00:54:31 All right. Well, thank y'all. This has been a treat for us. And I encourage all the ghosties to watch the show. It's going to be awesome. Yeah. Yeah, I just really appreciate it and excited to cheer you guys on. Truly, it's going to be so fun to like know somebody on the amazing race and be like going to Yeah, we're so excited to watch. So I'm like you guys get to watch too. Absolutely. Cool. Well, thank you. Yeah. Thank you. We'll see you on TV.
Starting point is 00:54:57 Okay. I don't know. I see on TV. Hey. Hey. What are you guys out? Babe, babe, babe, babe, bay, bay, bay, bay, bay, bay, ba, ba, ba, ba, ba. I don't know if you heard it is.
Starting point is 00:55:12 Go ahead. Our fantasy commission says for him it's all about the friendships. Cute, Kevin. But I disagree. Like with about 365. I get paid the second my team goes up big with early payout and can cash out at any time. before the game ends. No hard feelings, Kevin. Just faster payouts from Bet365. The home of winning early.

Under the, like kind of thing. We can just both. Well, well, And, okay.
Starting point is 00:56:04 I told me, well, we can just go. Bedroom. I thought, well, I can't have everything. You just got bad Wi-Fi. Right. But, hey, Eddie. Hey, daddy. Uh, story was basically just, uh, go ahead.
Starting point is 00:56:21 I was not feeling well a couple nights ago. And Rachel's like, we both can't get sick. Go sleep in the other bedroom. But what did I take with me? Teddy bear. A cozy earth pillowcase and a cozy earth blanket. That's all I need. And yes, the other bed did already have cozy earth sheets on it.
Starting point is 00:56:42 But it was literally the night after Rachel Rohrabacher had been sleeping there for a week. And I was like, that feels weird for me to like just go snuggle into her bed the night after she left. Like no one would know this, but it still doesn't pass the optics test. That's weird. I feel weird doing that. Good for you. So I stepped on top with a main street osers. Gosh.
Starting point is 00:57:02 Wind it back. Wind it back. Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, and wind it forward. Cozy Earth blanket, it's what I'm going to say. Yeah, because it's good. That's all I'm trying to say. I like saving with it.
Starting point is 00:57:15 Did you, did you know that you get 20% off of use our promo code GRKC at cozy earth.com slash ghostrunners? Cool. It is cool. Sheets. Holy sheets. That's right. And if they get, if you get sheets holds in your sheets, you can, you can return
Starting point is 00:57:32 and reach out to them. return your sheets. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. They have a warranty on them. They have a customer service support team.
Starting point is 00:57:43 Yep. Just go with cozierth.com slash ghostrunners learn all about it. Goziorit.com slash ghostrunner. GRKC, 10% off. 20. 20 times 2. 10 times. Do it, use it twice. Get 20% off.
Starting point is 00:57:59 Don't look at me, guys. Just use it twice. Hey, what do you want me to do? Just use it twice. Just put it in there again. I don't know. Frigan no. Tonight on CBS.
Starting point is 00:58:10 Or Paramount Plus. Bow-b-da-ba-ba-ba-fav-fav-ba-a-ba- Amazing rays. You know what that is time? 60 minutes. That's right. 60 minutes. It was always like, oh, 60 minutes is on. It means football's over.
Starting point is 00:58:28 It's kind of a sad time. I mean, I got to go to do my homework that I've been putting off all weekend. crazy dude i'm so pumped i can't wait to become an amazing race fan you're gonna truly if nothing else just think about how in the world they produced and like shot the show that that that is that's the thing that i'm most like enamored by without within the whole thing that's so fascinating because you have to location scout like crazy and there's there's so many variables that you can't like you don't know if these people are going to take six hours to do something or 12 you know yeah and even for just like big moments i'm thinking about how like
Starting point is 00:59:05 I've been able to shoot on like scripted, scripted TV, and even then I miss the shot sometimes. Right. How are you getting like a shot that's worthy of TV? Yep. When this like unexpected things happening. It's, I think that that's cool to hear it. It's like, it's only the elite camera people that like, for an amazing race and like three other shows. And presumably, presumably you're, like, you're recording 24 or you're recording the entire time.
Starting point is 00:59:32 Probably. And so then the editing, like, how do you edit that well? How do you, like, do you, like, do you mark? Do you mark things as you're recording? That was cool here. Like the sound guy even, I wonder if the sound guy not only is giving notes to the producers to ask, but is also like this moment because everything I'm sure is like time code. He's like all this.
Starting point is 00:59:45 He's like all this thing in real time. I'm sure. That's so cool. I know. It's exactly. Because everyone's got to be so everyone's has. I'm sure everyone involved is so overqualified for so many things to be like, okay, the camera guy knows like this is going to be good for the story. The sound guy knows that.
Starting point is 00:59:59 Everyone's like, that's so cool. But then sometimes they're in the freaking like middle of nowhere effort. in, you know, muddy swamp, you know, whatever, like going through this crazy rice fields in China. It's like, not only do you have to be good at that, but you also have to be good at filming in those crazy conditions and or you're on top of a skyscraper in Taiwan. Or, you know, it's like, what in the world? So anyway, it's, I'm so pumped. So I got a text back from neighbor.
Starting point is 01:00:27 Oh, we're back. I mean, to be fair, okay, a few things. so yeah I said I have not heard about this yet can you tell me more I'm sorry to hear this and we'll definitely address it with them yes last night the tenants were yelling and breaking beer bottles around 1130 or midnight too late and ridiculous
Starting point is 01:00:46 I think they started out in the jacuzzi then around 1140 the SUV that had been idling in the street for half an hour began revving his engine so loudly and then peeled out very disturbing for our quiet neighborhood I'm not happy it woke my young boys up because our windows were open thing. So it's like, so first of all, I am pretty positive these are not the sign neighbors. These are
Starting point is 01:01:08 the next door neighbors of the sign neighbors. Now we got two problems. Because the sign neighbors spreading. Which by the way, the side neighbors have been without the sign for about two weeks now. They're they're saying signs. They've been without sign. They might be, the sign might be coming back. Stop revving your SUVs in this neighborhood. But now I mean, no to broken beer bottles in this neighborhood. I mean, obviously that is ridiculous. That's, that's, not okay by any means. So I'm going to definitely have to address that with them. But, yeah, but I think I know these neighbors are like the sweet. Yeah, they have kids like my kids age. So it's like, oh, that would be a really annoying thing if I were in their shoes.
Starting point is 01:01:47 So I, yeah, I empathized. And so, well, not so amazing race all of a sudden, it seems like. All of a sudden. Yeah. So what are you going to do? What's your plan of action? I mean, I think I'm just going to message them initially. I'm going to, I'm going to say first of all, like I went over there earlier to like, like put chemicals and stuff in the hot tub. And so I'm just going to say I did that. And honestly, it wasn't dirty at all outside. I didn't notice a thing outside.
Starting point is 01:02:18 And so and I kind of looked inside the kitchen and it wasn't that dirty either. So it wasn't like if they were breaking beer bottles, they cleaned them up really well. Like I didn't see it. Genuinely, I saw one water bottle like on the patio table. That was it. Like half drank water bottle. I'm like, that's not bad at all. But I'll just say, hey, sounds like there was a disturbance here last night.
Starting point is 01:02:39 Just a reminder that these are the quiet hours. If we have something happen again, you know, we're going to have to get somebody else involved. I don't know what I'm going to say. Something like that. You have to go to prison or something. Yeah, kind of a little bit of a strike one, strike three kind of thing. But I'll say, hey, we know people that are elite cameramen that can come and hunt you down. So, no, that's kind of a bummer.
Starting point is 01:02:59 But did you see Johnny Yusuf's story, dude? I saw some reels. Did you hear about this, Jake? I've seen some things here and there. I don't know the full story, though. I don't either. I don't know if he does. I don't know if anyone fully knows.
Starting point is 01:03:12 Maybe that's why I don't know the full story. Yeah, but Johnny has multiple Airbnbs, tons of them. And you should look up if you guys don't follow him on Instagram. He's Instagram is Johnny You. And he, yeah, just like hosted these people, seemingly normal people, and it went terribly wrong. Like these people absolutely trashed his place. Seemingly like people were on some pretty hard narcotics, pretty hard. Like, I don't know what happened.
Starting point is 01:03:41 Like there was like a massive clump of hair on one of the couches. Do you see that? It was like blood on the floor. Yeah, it seemed like some truly insane things went down besides just like, oh, they made a mess. Right. It wasn't like, oh, they just partied really hard. Yeah, it was like, dude, what happened? Yeah, there was like a girl like when he showed up the next day to like investigate and see what was going on
Starting point is 01:04:00 with the cops, like there was a girl like crying hysterically on the porch, like just like wild things. I'm like, gosh. Gosh, if that's, if I have to deal with anything even close to that, I might just pack it up and go on the amazing race. Come sell pickleball paddles or something. Seriously. I'm like, surely, surely, yeah, surely I don't have to worry about that. You know, there's other things I think you have to worry about from what I hear, but.
Starting point is 01:04:22 Inbole days old. But, uh, but, uh, I think, uh, I think he said it was like $20,000 worth the damages to the house. And it's just obviously time that you don't, you can't redoubt the house along with that. So just a big old bummer. And of course Johnny is just the nicest person. And I'm sure A is the nicest person ever. B gets extra stressed about stuff like that. Like really, really wears it on his sleeve kind of thing. And so I'm sure it's, but yeah, it's very interesting. I mean, just to go, I mean, he's been like trying to investigate. He has like a ring, you know, camera or whatever outside. It's black and white. Do you see how he like used AI to like colorize it?
Starting point is 01:05:00 He's like, do you recognize this person? Yeah, he's like really trying to like, you know, use the internet to identify these people. But yeah, anyway, just wild times. So, gosh. Crazy things. Well, so do you think like a police report was filed last night? I don't know.
Starting point is 01:05:20 Could you like go talk to the police officers and be like, what did you see? I guess. I don't think I will. I feel like it's like they need to tell me if, I don't know. It's one of those things like, I don't want to get too, I don't want to get too many eyeballs on this if we don't need to kind of thing. Right.
Starting point is 01:05:38 But surely the police at least like came, drove by and like assessed the situation. I think they have to. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I don't know. I mean, it sounds like it could have been a lot worse, but also it's just a noise disturbance, annoyance kind of thing. Like that's just not appropriate for that neighborhood.
Starting point is 01:05:56 Hey, close your windows. Yeah. Yeah. Get some air conditioning going. Right. Every once in a while, we have people at our street that rev there, or like just like peel out. And it is annoying. It's like, golly, that's going to wake up the kids. So I get it. I, uh, one of our friends, a girl that we become friends with right as we were kind of like moving, uh, from Kansas City. But, uh, Richard became good friends there. And I still follow on Instagram. And I feel like most of time people reserved like they're maybe like unpopular or like strong opinions like to themselves. like you don't just like see people post stuff on Instagram. And just out of nowhere. This is just like a normal,
Starting point is 01:06:35 just like millennial girls Instagram. And just one day she just posts like a Google image of just like, um, just like a motorized bike. And it just goes off. Oh, wow. Who are just loud on their bikes.
Starting point is 01:06:47 It was so funny. Just as good, you know what she normally post. Yeah. You know, and then now it's just like, hey, if you're one of these people who drives one brain cell bikes and revs them up in the
Starting point is 01:06:57 engine, you know, whatever. I was like screenshot. This is awesome. Yeah. Good for you. Go off.
Starting point is 01:07:02 Yeah. It's like, I wouldn't say it, but love that you're doing this. And I pretty much agree with everything you're saying. That's pretty funny. I mean,
Starting point is 01:07:08 I know that you already are kind of this way, but not truly Jake. Like, I've thought about it once in a while just being like, I'm just going to get super online. Like,
Starting point is 01:07:16 I know that Jake is online, but you're not online. Like, like, I've thought about like, I'm just going to comment on everybody's stuff. I'm just going to get like,
Starting point is 01:07:24 like, really involved, really shake it up. Really, like, really encouraging, shake it up. Really encouraging on the good stuff. Really like, give my opinion, like, on the bad stuff.
Starting point is 01:07:33 And I've, like, I ever once in a while, I just think, like, maybe I'll just review restaurants. Maybe I'll do this. Maybe I'll just, like, get really, like, into, like, posting things. That sounds pretty fun to have, like, a week of just like, I'm going to be really online this week and be the people that I see. Yeah. Like, but all of them at once. And for the most part, it's like, I think I would just do it ironically.
Starting point is 01:07:55 Like, there was one, you know, I'm barely on any social media right now. And when I am, it's Facebook, which. is just a cesspool of dumb. Like, except for the Facebook group. Good way to describe it. Yeah. It is. It's just like, what am I, like,
Starting point is 01:08:07 like, it's not even like, it doesn't even seem like the algorithm's good. It's just like, they don't even know what to feed me, like to get me on there more. But I saw, oh, it was a Friday pickleball.
Starting point is 01:08:18 It was like you interviewing Rachel Roerbocker. Did you see this on Facebook? I saw this comment a couple weeks ago. And that's the kind of stuff that would be really fun to like do more of. Because it's like, you were interviewing Rachel, you asked like, hey, what would it be like if you play with the Democrat for once or something like that?
Starting point is 01:08:34 Like, just making a very subtle, somewhat innocent, like, joke, but at least like somewhat calling out the idea these people are apparently conservative or whatever. And she just laughed. That's all she did. It was laugh. Like, I was so proud of the joke. It came out of nowhere. She laughs. Everybody has fun. And there was somebody that comments like, oh, can we just keep politics out of this? Something like that. Yeah, just for once. Can we just have something that's not political. And of course, I just comment back, like, I know, this is ridiculous. I don't know what I said. Like, you know, just like, like, adding a very small- I think she went off and like threw some f-bombs and stuff in there and like had like a decent paragraph of like complaint. And then you
Starting point is 01:09:12 replied, like, I was literally about to say the exact. That's what I said. Word for word. Yeah. Oh, man. Yeah. Because it's like, especially like Facebook. Like you guys, I think you guys get like four comments on a video. Like, Facebook is not where you're getting any kind of real traction for stuff anyway. So I knew it wasn't like a huge deal if I like comment this. No, I left it all up. Oh, yeah. It just cracked me up, dude. It's like, it's one of those things where it's like, I just know Jake's going to get humor out of this. Because the name with like the Linux a pickleball page thing. Like every once in a while I'll do something on there. Like, oh, you know, comment. And I'm like, no one else is going to see this except for maybe Jake. Maybe the audience is
Starting point is 01:09:54 one. Yeah, truly. So I have those thoughts over now. And then I think, last year I was fantasizing about like our at 2026 for my personal Instagram every month I'm going to become a different type of creator. So January I'll do food reviews and February I'll become a fitness influencer. Yeah, that's fun.
Starting point is 01:10:13 Didn't do any of it. And then about a month ago I was like, maybe I should really engage and be a part of the pickleball community on Twitter. Maybe I should do that. I had the thought of like should I be a Twitter guy? Should I be a chief's guy? Should I just live tweet like my feelings on the chiefs, like, while I'm watching.
Starting point is 01:10:31 The chief's in Gaza. Like, no way, no way is that, no way is that a pass interference. No way is that a hold. Or other tweets such as touchdown chiefs. Let's go. Just stuff like that. Like stuff that if you don't read it right when it happens, you have no idea what happens, like what that's for.
Starting point is 01:10:50 Stuff like that. That could be fun. There's a lot of Twitter accounts that are just stuff like that. Just, ah! Are you kidding me? No way. Dot, two dots only. No way, dot, dot.
Starting point is 01:11:06 I don't know. And it's like one of those things where it's like you just get some of your friends on it and that's just fun for, that's the thing. Like these days social media is too broad. Like too many people are seeing it. But social media was really fun when it was like, oh, I know that my friends are going to see this. But I am not worried that some future employer 18 years from now is going to see this. You know what I mean? It's like, why did you say LFG?
Starting point is 01:11:30 What's the F stand for? It's like, I don't know. I just have seen people say it one time. I didn't know what I was saying. I don't, you know. Anyway. So that's online. So I've thought about being online.
Starting point is 01:11:44 I probably won't, but I've thought about it. Maybe just, maybe I'll dip my toe in the Twitter waters every once in a while. Yeah. It feels like, uh, it would be a lot to like actually engage online.
Starting point is 01:11:58 like that would just take a lot of effort. One thing to view, another thing to like comment. Yeah, true. Have you ever heard of this Twitter account called Three Year Letterman? No. It's a pretty good one. You'd enjoy it a lot.
Starting point is 01:12:10 It's basically just like trolling and like this guy basically just gives incorrect statements and like will respond to people and like say things incorrectly on purpose. And like if they respond and be like, you're so stupid. It's actually Petra Mo Holmes has never, you know,
Starting point is 01:12:27 had a game that bad that you said, and he'll just retweet anybody that, like, it gets triggered by his, his, like, trolling, basically. Gotcha. It's pretty funny. I like the idea of, like, kind of making up stats like that, being, like, crazy, you know, Patrick Mahomes. Dan Marino is the only quarterback who owned the mascot of which the team he played on.
Starting point is 01:12:47 Exactly. Exactly. He had a dolphin. And people, every once in a while, people will be like, no way, that's nuts, you know. That's so funny. I do like I enjoy occasionally like commenting on an Instagram thing and I'm always like it's always fun because there will be usually a like a few ghosties who will like like like it. Right. Okay.
Starting point is 01:13:06 Someone's out there seeing me because I yeah, I don't know. And I like the, I kind of want to do it more. I mean, I'm trying to be off Instagram more lately, but it's like of kind of I think I remember one that I was kind of proud of that I just cracked myself up with was like it was some post about like the La La Land 10 year anniversary like in theaters. It was like, they fixed this, like, issue with the previous poster where Ryan Gosling's hand is down and they put it up in the new one. And then all the, all, every single comment was like, I, well, actually, like, I think that the point of that was to show that they were incompatible, like, like, subtle reference to that. And then I just, like, commented, I can't believe no one is talking, like, explaining this. Like, the, I think that, like, I don't know, I just, my theory is that maybe it shows that, like, their relationship wasn't quite compatible or something like that. I don't know.
Starting point is 01:13:53 Like that type of thing, I just made myself laugh. I love that. Yeah. And you just type it to yourself, like, maybe no one's going to care. Right. I don't know if anyone I know saw that, but I had a good time. So anyway, we'll figure out ways to get just very subtly on the internet. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:14:09 Without, you know, posting to the masses. Yep. Oh. Hey. Hey. Hey. Hey. Hey.
Starting point is 01:14:17 Hey. Hey. Hey. Hey. Whoa. Oh, I'm not even joking. I'm not even joking. Like three out of ten Charlie Horse because of that right there.
Starting point is 01:14:31 Like not anything bad, but I felt it up here on my thigh. Worth it, though, to talk about good ranchers. Speaking of Charlie Horse, you're going to get quality meat from good ranchers. From our old horse, Charlie. Other places, other countries, they don't have the same standards. They eat dogs. They eat horses. Not us.
Starting point is 01:14:53 We eat chicken. and beef. Charlie cows, Charlie chickens. Charlie wild caught seafood. It's more like it. Charlie pork. Charlie fish. Yeah. That's right. Doomsday cow. Doomsday.
Starting point is 01:15:05 They've got it all at good ranchers and it's all organic. It's all good for you. It shows up right to your door. It's convenient. Any questions? Antibiotics? No. Added hormones. No.
Starting point is 01:15:22 Supports American farmers. Yes. Do you know any American farmers? Tom, and I see that hand? Delivered to your door or no? I already said that. Yes. Okay.
Starting point is 01:15:34 Okay. promo code or just, I mean, I'll pay full price. Seems like it's worth it, but... Don't touch that dial. You don't have to. No, I said, don't touch the dial. I was talking to you already, so I've untouched. GRKC is the promo code.
Starting point is 01:15:52 Expedited shipping, money off, free protein add-on. It's all good. Use it. Thank you. Now go ahead and touch that dial, wind it up. Yeah, ha, ha! Go to Rachel.com! I found this new Twitter account. It's called like 20 years ago news or something like that.
Starting point is 01:16:10 I don't know how exactly like they've built this program to pull headlines, but it'll just tweet out exactly like in real time exactly 20 years ago what was going on. Whoa. Oh, wow. That's pretty cool. And so, you know, the only ones I ever see are like the ones that go viral and it'll be like, you know, Enron is one of the top five companies to work for. You know, that was like a legitimate article posted 20 years ago, you know, in September.
Starting point is 01:16:36 Which Enron has famously like gone down. Okay, cool. I didn't actually know that. They're like, I feel like they're like the punchline of a company of like, this was a terrible demise. Like instantly, right? Like you just like, I don't even know, honestly. Yeah, they just like massive company and then they went bankrupt. Everybody gets laid off. Just terrible situation. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:16:54 Yeah. That's rough. but yeah it is pretty interesting it's just like sports stuff for 20 years ago or like obviously 9-11 just happened recently and like following that throughout the day and like the misinformation people were saying crazy things like the Washington Post has been like there's a fifth plane and it's headed for Los Angeles
Starting point is 01:17:09 you know whatever just like people are just firing off crazy stuff back then wow crazy yeah back then it's gotten all pretty normal now yeah there's nothing there's nothing fake on there now dude people used to say wild stuff on the internet back in the day I can't I'm glad we're past that
Starting point is 01:17:25 Some of it used to be, like, not even factual. Yeah. They would just make up stuff. They would doctor images every once in a while I've seen. Unbelievable. Yeah. Doctor images. That word is probably going to go away. Yeah?
Starting point is 01:17:39 That phrase. You think so? I don't know. No one's going to doctor anything. Because the anti-vax movement, or what? You're just going to completely overhaul it with AI. You're not going to, like, you know, airbrush this little thing anymore. I know.
Starting point is 01:17:53 I hope surely eventually will, like, swing back to like being anti-AI in images because man it's too bad when you see these you know I can't believe what people are okay with yeah and everyone's flyer looks the exact same everyone's does I know I know and everyone's while you're like and they people think this is awesome this is perfect it whip that up pretty quickly wow no edits yeah no no yeah I don't know that's funny like even because my Gen Z side of the algorithm like I everyone hates AI. So, like, I don't know what you see.
Starting point is 01:18:29 Everyone hates AI. It seemed like... In general, like, across every aspect of AI? No, like, specifically, like, something my feed is always, like, whenever it is, like, in the place of art or, like, music, things like that. Sure. So much.
Starting point is 01:18:44 And, like, I'm like, yeah, there. Yeah. But... Surely no one's, like, really excited about any of that, like, the art side of AI. No, I don't think so. Maybe. But, I mean, I see...
Starting point is 01:18:55 But I see... But I see... But I thought you were saying, like, just across the board, like, don't use chat GBT to write. We need to, we need to be writing our own email. So I'm like, really? Gin Z's like all about that? Oh, I definitely see that too. Really?
Starting point is 01:19:05 Yeah. Good for them. Yeah. I don't know. I see more of it. It's just like, I'll get the, right? I'll get the occasional video essay in my YouTube. It's like we're kind of being trained to forget how to think.
Starting point is 01:19:15 We might as well try to think for ourselves a little bit. Sure. That's, I like that. I do too. Yeah. Yeah. Hmm. Interesting.
Starting point is 01:19:24 It is crazy how people respond. to it. I feel like the younger you are, the more you're critical of things that are clear the AI and the older you are, you just have more easily impressed by it. Or maybe you don't know what's AI and just eating it up. That'd be a fun game to play with my parents sometime, specifically my dad. Because my dad, I think I talked about this maybe on the park. My dad was like, I can tell when it's fake. I'm like, no, you can't. There's no way. There's some of these videos that are like unreal how good they look. You know what I mean? Like, Like, there's no way my dad would think that's great.
Starting point is 01:19:57 And there's some of them that are, I mean, unreal how, how obviously fake they look and you see an older person that's like, oh my gosh. This is incredible. Like, I'm not going to name drop, but one of my friend's moms, like, reposted on Facebook, like a video of, um, and this is just more, this is just funny, like, of a little girl going up to like a statue of Jesus. And then she, like, kisses him on the forehead and he, like, comes alive and hugs her. And my friend's mom was like, this. is beautiful. And then her daughter was like, mom, this is AI? She's like, is it actually? I was like,
Starting point is 01:20:32 this is unbelievable. Really? She wasn't sure. She was like, wow. They have those statutes of every celebrity. I thought he was just painted to look bronze. I don't know. Yeah, right. That's amazing. You know, there's so many, I had gotten a Facebook ad for like, like kind of a stock video of two people rapping and was like, include any two faces. It could be you wrapping, you know, use our AI to put your face in there. You know, you scroll past it. You go, that's ridiculous. And then a couple hours later, now I'm on Instagram. And I see that, like, two pickleball people have, like, just clearly used that Facebook ad. They uploaded their pictures. And now it really does look like they're the ones rapping. And I was like,
Starting point is 01:21:14 just such a massive eye roll. And the comments are like, this is hilarious. This is so good. How did you guys think of this? I'm like, we have to raise the bar. We have to. what am I working so hard for? Truly. Why am I putting in any effort? Yeah. That is the bummer of it. It is like, this is going really well for them, and they did that for it.
Starting point is 01:21:38 Yeah. They used a free trial. Anyway, what's your win of the week? Dude, I have so many wins of the week. Let me see. Sorry, I just saw it. I could give you hundreds. I really do.
Starting point is 01:21:53 I have one, two, three, four. fun. Maybe five. I mean, there all could be wins. They all could be other things that we can talk about another time. But I'll just do my win of the week is my kids love the Beatles.
Starting point is 01:22:06 My kids love the Beatles. That's fun. That's one of my favorite things these days is like learning how to indoctrinate my children. And I'm trying to indoctrinate them in the right ways. But specifically Henry and Rosie right now, every Monday, the last, well, just last two Mondays, I've been taking them to Mother's Day out.
Starting point is 01:22:23 And so it's like a 30-minute drive down. there. And yeah, we just listen to the Beatles the whole time and it pumps me up. Like, and they're starting to like, like, now that they're familiar with that they're like singing along, they're getting into it, they're requesting the Beatles. That's awesome. Um, specifically we like eight days a week, ticket to ride. She loves you. Yeah. Yeah. You know, you'll hear her, or Rosie just run around the yard. She loves you. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yellow submarine. I mean, it's just so fun. So, um, and so it's so sweet to hear Henry go. Can we listen to Beatles?
Starting point is 01:22:57 Listen to Beatles. So, anyway, kids are fun. Specifically, those two are just wild and crazy and you never know what's going to happen with them.
Starting point is 01:23:05 But they're awesome. So it's a minute of the week. My one of the week is that it looks like Teddy is probably coming home soon. Yes. Cool. Let's go. It's been over a month.
Starting point is 01:23:19 Let's go. Yes. Yes. There's a nurse who's like going on a little vacation and won't be back until next week. And she was like, I feel like I should say bye to you guys. I'm like, oh, wow. Okay. Today, Rachel's doing like the car seat test.
Starting point is 01:23:36 Yeah. With Teddy and the NICU and everything. Which I don't know what that man. I think I thought the car seat test was like, I don't know how like dumb this is. But like I thought they needed to make sure that parents were like competent enough to like, handle a car seat. So I really thought they were like judging us. Like do you know how to install and uninstall car seat yet yada? That's exactly what I pictured. I think you might be. Maybe that's you might be kind of right. Well, keep going. I think that's part of it. Well, I asked Rachel,
Starting point is 01:24:07 I was like, oh, so do I need to be there for the car seat test? And she was like, no, they just need to see him like sit in it for like 90 minutes. Oh, that's right. That is part that that, that's, but I think there is a aspect of the car seat test. And I could be wrong once again. But I think there is an aspect that they don't want you to go home without making sure the car seat is installed correctly. I mean, I think it's a good idea. They have like a car seat guy who comes and checks every newborn. Yeah. What a job that would be. It's me, car seat guy. Not all heroes wear capes, you know? I just remember they did like go, they went down to our car with me and like checked on the like firmness of the car seat. Like make sure it was.
Starting point is 01:24:52 it was like level because you can have like level it and stuff. I don't know. Maybe that's coming on like discharge day. Maybe that will happen. That's probably, yeah. But there is something about like, yeah, they have to sit in the car seat.
Starting point is 01:25:02 But I don't know what they're measuring, like what or what they're gauging in, anyway. That I don't know. But anyway, it's just, it's nice. On one end, it's like how great it has been to have amazing supervision.
Starting point is 01:25:16 He, everything's monitored, but also getting pretty tired of it. I'm really excited to have. have them home. It's going to be so nice. I mean, Rachel gets her life back. All she does is just sit in the hospital all day long. And, you know, you can't, she tries to read, but then you get sleepy and you can't fall asleep, you know, but you can't really like watch things. You don't want to be too live. You can't really listen to things. I mean, she's just been just sitting on her phone for, you know, over a month now.
Starting point is 01:25:40 So excited for her to get, you know, her life back and yeah, just get to like look at Teddy whenever we want to. Yeah. Yeah. That'll be nice. That's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, those like conveniences of a parent that you don't think you like, you know, like I think everyone's like, yeah, that's a given. And it's like until it's not, I would like to look at my kid. Is that too much to ask? It's like, well, yeah, you got to drive there and you got to make sure it's not between this time and this time. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's great, man. That's exciting. I'm sure is it a little bit of like, are you nervous at all about the bringing him home? Like, is there any aspect of that? There is an aspect of like how closely monitored he's been and like
Starting point is 01:26:21 how just like, you know, even like when I'm bottle feeding, I'm constantly still looking at all of his vitals and metrics. And yeah, we're going to have that outlet thing and check it, but it's not nearly the quality or the amount of supervision that he's, that we're used to having or the crutch maybe we've had on all these nurses. So, you know, there'll probably be a little bit of a adjustment period. But no, it's like, man, we know he's being sent home healthy compared to like, yeah. If this is just a normal birth, they'd be like, great, mom's doing good. Get out of here. And then maybe you would be maybe more curious if things are going well with your baby because, you know, it hasn't had all of this like these tests and everything going on. So it's like we could be pretty confident going home. Like, he's great. Yeah, right. No, yeah, yeah, I guess nervous. Yeah, nervous is the right word, but not necessarily nervous for that aspect is what I was. I'm trying to relate to my own experiences because like when Catherine's pregnant, it's like, oh, I know.
Starting point is 01:27:20 know she's going to have a baby in nine months. But then when nine months rolls around, you're like, oh, snap. Okay. Like you get nervous when she's about to have the baby of like, oh, this is all going to change. It's like, you know that he's supposed to be coming home in October or whenever, you know, like soon. But then when it's time to like actually come, you're like, oh, snap. Like I saw it coming, but also like I didn't know it's coming right now.
Starting point is 01:27:40 You know, I don't know. Like that's just what I think. Yeah. That is still a thing a little bit. Like, I don't know. I just like we were just barely moving the ball down the field. And then all of a sudden that, you know, they're just like, hey, yeah, I may not see. next week. I'm like, oh, crap, we gotta get, you know, we have. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, there's just like,
Starting point is 01:27:55 you got to buy a few things, which will be fine. But yeah. But yeah, I mean, just last week, I mean, he was like barely eating out of the bottle. And then last night, bet him like, pretty much his whole bottle. So they're like, yeah, I think tomorrow's gonna take his tube out. So, it's like, oh, he's, he's a, he's a real boy. I'm a real boy, dad. This is crazy. Love it, dude. That's awesome. That'd be fun. Heck yeah. That's a huge. win. Mine is probably just about as big of a deal. Yeah, sure. No, I'd say my win was probably singing songs with a bunch of people. I went to a like church, you could call it camp, you can call it conference, just like a kind of college age thing this past weekend. And it was just
Starting point is 01:28:38 like, I mean, there's kind of worship throughout, but then just like there was one night where we kind of afterwards go into like a chapel area and just sing a bunch of just a cappella songs and everyone's into it. And I was just like, this is it. This is. Yeah. Yeah, dude. And just like, not only praising the Lord, but also just like it sounds good. And it's like I'm not used to, you know, our church is small. And it, yeah. So it's a nice change of pace.
Starting point is 01:29:01 Yeah, that was my win. Do you know people that? First of all, yes, absolutely. Like, when you hear, yeah, just a body of believers belted it out. Yeah. Like not only like sounding good, but also like feeling it. Meaning it. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:29:15 Yeah. It's just there's nothing. It's nothing like it. Do you know people, you go to a small. smaller church. Do you, like, people are still probably singing pretty loud. Do you know, so people are like, he's going for it, but I don't know if, I don't know if he should quite. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, I guess. Yeah, but I'd rather I'm seeing than not. Absolutely. Yeah, but it's just like, they're just that dynamic of like, oh, like, do you have assigned seats?
Starting point is 01:29:40 Not assigned seats, but you know what I mean? Like, do the emch just always sit in the same row every week? Or is it like, oh, we got, we got Dennis behind us this week. It's actually pretty unpredictable. Like you can say wherever. So it's like, yeah, no, it's a bit of a hit or miss, a guessing game. But yeah, no, it's all good. But yeah. It's not that it's bad in Kansas City, but it's just way better. Sure, sure. No, yeah, more just, yeah, thinking of the humor of, like, stuff like that. Like, they're just the funny quirks of, like, church. When you, when you go to a church that you know most of the people, and it's pretty consistent every week, like growing up, there was always a guy at our church that his alarm clock would go off at noon.
Starting point is 01:30:19 every single time. And so it was like, I think it was almost like this, like, a little bit of, you know, passive-aggressive, like, hey, it's time to be done with the sermon kind of thing. And every once in a while,
Starting point is 01:30:30 you'd also hear him just make, breathe, the biggest sigh. Our fantasy commission says for him it's all about the friendships. Cute, Kevin. But I disagree. Like with about 365, I get paid the second my team
Starting point is 01:30:45 goes up big with early payout and can cash out at any time before the game ends. No hard feelings, Kevin. Just faster payouts from Bet365. The home of winning early. Must be 19 and older. Ontario only.
Starting point is 01:30:57 Please play responsibly. If you were someone you know is concerns about gambling, visit connectsontario.ca or call 1-8665-3-1-2,600. Terms and conditions apply. It was like, oh, there goes Keith. Yeah, how's he feeling about this? He's ready to get out of here. So, you know, it's just stuff like that.
Starting point is 01:31:14 Yeah, it's just like a small enough sanctuary, it's like if someone's phone goes off, which is a pretty common occurrence. Like, you know whose it is. Yeah, so good. I'm pretty sure. Yeah, I think it was Steve Coop. He wanted there to be a sitcom like the office called church.
Starting point is 01:31:28 Yeah, yeah, yeah. Because you always have these characters like this. Totally. Yeah. Once you're in it, yeah, there's just so many funny things. The guy who sings too loud and he's terrible singing. Yeah. And I will say during chief season, I didn't hate the alarm going off and take you like, hey,
Starting point is 01:31:46 I get the gist of this message. drinking wrapper. But anyway, good times. The family, like, we're the family that is like, would always, my parents would always talk so long, you know, like, okay, come on, mom and dad. I'm ready to go home. I would sometimes get in the car and just wait for them in the car. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Me too. Yeah. And now we're the parents that, like, are known as like, oh, yeah, the eldest kids haven't gotten picked up yet because their parents are talking, you know. So it's fun to talk. It's so fun to talk, man. We should talk more for a living. What do you think of that?
Starting point is 01:32:19 We should monetize talking. That's right. So anyway, all right. This has been a fun episode. I hope people are excited by the amazing race. I don't know. Yeah. Let's just like get on Twitter probably is best way to live.
Starting point is 01:32:32 No. Twitter discourse. We should somehow. I don't know if we could. I don't know if I would even be available to do this on Wednesday night. But like do a YouTube premiere or a live stream or something where we're like watching. My reaction. But I don't know if that's feasible.
Starting point is 01:32:47 Yeah. Where's a good place to like chat? I don't know. I mean, probably all of them have some feature like that, but what's the best one? We set up a live on Facebook or I don't know. Anyway, maybe we'll do something, but maybe not. Maybe we'll just all post stuff on our Facebook group and just go back for it. Anyway, check my out.
Starting point is 01:33:08 A quick comment of the week. I felt very validated. I loved people coming to my defense on the Chick-Flay water. Josiah said, as a Chick-Fllay employee, I could say, yes, Jake, the water sometimes tastes weird because we use the same spout for high sea as we do water. So unless employee and employee drains the high sea first, there might be a tinge of fruit punch in your water. So maybe that could be it.
Starting point is 01:33:32 Ask for water after drain, like drained water. Some people say to ask water? Yeah, can I get some drainage water, please? And then follow up, a favorite comment of the week was from Caleb. He said, as I was listening to this podcast, I was driving to Chick-Fleigh to interview. And I asked the manager interviewing me about the water thing and said, and yes, this is his direct quote, what are you talking about? So I may have lost a job because of this podcast. Worth it, man. You know, stay true to yourself. Oh, shoot, I just lost it.
Starting point is 01:34:06 Mine is coming from W. Kataji. Jake was talking about Nick Wright last week. And I think this is funny. In quotation marks, Nick Wright is logical and makes great points without being too emotional. in quotation marks, is clearly the pick number one, one of the schmores of things only a chiefs fan would say. I thought that was a great comment of just like, listen. I replied to it. Yeah. Yeah. I said, yeah, that's fair. Fair. Yeah. I saw that one automatically just, I was like, yeah, that's a good one. So coming of the week. We like Nick Wright, though. I think most, most Chiefs fans like Nick Wright. Because he says nice things about the Chiefs. Yeah. My comment, this is just because I keep seeing this come up places from Giffy.
Starting point is 01:34:52 Jiffy. On August of 2023, episode 254, Jacob Brad said timing would get his first date by August of 26. Just wanted to see where that stands now and if there's any update. It's not my comment to me because I have some crazy, exciting news. I'm just no update. So, but that's fine. So check in in four more years?
Starting point is 01:35:13 Yeah. Four more days? Three to four more years. Four more years. Yeah, I just wanted to clear the air on that. You wanted to clear the air? Air is cleared. So stop commenting it.
Starting point is 01:35:25 Is that what you're trying to say? Shut up. Hey, just want to make sure Time and Still doesn't have a girlfriend? Okay, cool. Yeah, that's what I thought. I don't care. Time is still kind of repulsive to the girls.
Starting point is 01:35:37 Yeah, time is still okay. Okay, no women in his life. All the way to go shores and back, all the way to this conference where people are singing a cappella and back and just can't find it. girl. Cool.
Starting point is 01:35:48 All right, we love you guys. Thank you for listening as always. Go check out the amazing race with our girls. Bluegrass. The western, west of Bluegrass sisters. We'll see you Monday, gocies. Love you guys. My regly goalie says he plays for the love of the game.
Starting point is 01:36:21 You gave up six goals last week, Steve. Maybe play to win, huh?
