So let's take a look at some of what Grimes has been doing since he's joined the Sixers, who also deal with injury issues.

So Grimes has seven career games scoring 30 or more points. Five of them have come in a Sixers uniform. Caleb Martin dealt with injuries, averaging five points in five games in a Mavs uniform. So there's no space for him to be that player. So in Philly, he was going to get the opportunity. He was going to come out of the bench. Now they ain't playing for shit. He has the opportunity now to be that player. So he's thriving in this role, absolutely. But Nick Nurse's offense is made for him to be this. Yeah, I get that.

But, I mean, you have to plan for all scenarios. So, yeah, last CBA, there could have been a lockout. We could have not had our bubble season. Like, it took us a while to get that situation situated in the bubble and getting our full salaries for the season and all that kind of stuff. So, yeah, when you're doing these types of things, you've got to plan for everything. Like, worst-case scenario would be probably locking out. Best case would be getting everything that we want,

and that probably won't happen. But finding somewhere in the middle where we can make, hopefully, the players happy and protect current, former, upcoming players, like, that's the ultimate goal. So it's not that cut and dry. Former players aren't protected right now. No.

I believe Unrivaled got a 50K for winning defensive player of the year as well over there. But the majority of the players in the W

aren't making that kind of money outside of the WNBA. Yeah, they still... As much... It's the same with the NIL stuff. You see, like, the 1% doing their thing, but there's still 99% of players who are still depending on their WNBA checks for a lot of their money. But would a lockout make like, like, because y'all's season is not that long.

You know, them Glees, they don't like competition. NFL, NBA. At all. They don't like competition. They don't at all. They're gonna do what they have to do to get this done. Remember our lockout season? Prioritize the Devils. Remember our lockout season?

I think that's big. And then you have Athletes Unlimited, who it's only four weeks, and you have women who come and play in Athletes Unlimited who can make really good money in four weeks. And so, to your point, absolutely that puts pressure on the WNBA to say, like, you've got to be better. Are those going on at the same time? So what they would do is probably would be smart,

is the stack them, right? Play one, and then y'all can play in both. Well, they're unrivaled contracts. But they really like that shit. Unrivaled contracts. Yeah, unrivaled will let you do both. If there is a lockout, the opportunity that creates for Unrivaled and Athletes Unlimited... You can't lose the traction that you've gained. I agree. Because you now have the eyes, you have the sponsorships, you have the brands, you have everything, right?

Where the game is today is stuff that we fought for forever. So the thought of having a lockout, to me, just sets us back. Now people won't be checking for the games anymore because out of sight is out of mind. Yes. Exactly. of it doesn't make sense. I remember, ooh, this was way back when the league started in 97. There was a year where we actually had a conversation about possibly doing the same thing. But those of us in the room, we had that conversation about there's probably only 10 of us in the league that could afford a lockout, right? Like we could have a lockout and still be okay. But the majority of the players in the league didn't. And back then the salaries weren't

like they are. It was worse then than it is today, right? That's when people wanted to go back. Yeah. But I think that's why it matters who's sitting in those rooms. Yeah. Because you can't be selfish and be about yourself.

Yeah. You have to think about the entire league as a whole and making sure that you have all the players' best interest in mind.

But you got to have the older players, the vets in the room that are saying, listen, it's not just about right now, but it's about growing the league, it's about the future of the league, and it's about giving more opportunities for the players that will come after you. I think the league is in a great place right now. So the thought of having a lockout I just don't think is the smartest thing to do. I remember he had a big meeting at UCLA with Kobe and a bunch of guys that work out in LA. And one of his main things was just going out there and not spending your money. Because he had a lot of the young guys. He was like, we all got to be a unit and shit,

and can't give in and all that. One of his main things, what was cool after, he went to the Drew League after. Like, he was trying to be around us, helping us out, looked out for us and stuff.
