And if you can't watch the live show, we got Spotify and Apple versions of the podcast, wherever you get your podcasts from. Get Gills Arena, help us get on the map, another revenue stream. We can get it going. But let's start this show off. So we knew the Heat were taking missing out on Dame Hard, but it appears that nobody is more hurt
Starting point is 00:05:53 than Jimmy Butler. This is how Jimmy pulled up the Heat media. That's it. That man is the biggest troll man Look like in Hollywood So it's Brandon question for you Jimmy Butler like Drake said a real vamp. What's he got going on right now? He's on this Playboy Carti right now. He's you know, he's he's a rock star right now. He's on this rock star swag, all black.
Starting point is 00:06:28 Yeah, that's a good sign. I mean, he's on Demon Time all year. He gonna need it. Definitely gonna need it. And some, because there's some smoke out there now. Listen, Jack. Yeah, it's a lot. We're gonna talk about it a little later.
Starting point is 00:06:43 That man remind me of Lil Yachty. Not the bang game. The bang game. Oh, oh. You remember that? Yeah. He had the bang on. Come on, man.
Starting point is 00:06:56 I like the vibe, Joe. That's what came to my mind as soon as I seen it. Not the bang game. I mean, last year he did it when he did the dreads. You know, they went to the finals. So maybe this is his thing. Okay. Yeah, that look like, yo, boy, that hairstyle.
Starting point is 00:07:11 I don't listen. That strength on his. But he can pull it off. Got that DJ quick. You know what I'm talking about? So what's the craziest thing that you guys have done for NBA Media Day or seen? Anything to that magnitude? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:31 You know, after my gun situation, let my hair grow, and then came to Media Day like I was homeless man. Because I didn't want them to use that face on billboards because I was done Right. So when you look at that picture that actually looks older than then it doesn't know when I was 27 at the time. Yeah, but I didn't work. I think that's rough We're located. Yeah, please bring it. We got a you see it. Yeah, I can google it put it up on the thing But I'm sure Douglas bring it up it up. That was a rough one. I ain't never did nothing. Nothing crazy.
Starting point is 00:08:09 You showed up? Yeah, nothing. I just showed up. I hated media day. It was all day. Like, football, you know. Yeah, my thing. Everybody's like, all of ours would be like all day.
Starting point is 00:08:19 Yeah, I was all about looking at pictures being taken. Yeah. As you can see, yeah, I got to make sure I'm glad. Yeah. Every media day, I got to have a certain look. Shoes got to be to the nines. Now, media day is the funniest shit, though,
Starting point is 00:08:34 because we're not, like, we all have that same stance, right? We ain't putting our hands on our hips. Yeah. Right? You know, we ain't doing this. We ain't doing this. It's either this, throw a little muscles in,
Starting point is 00:08:47 we'll do some, but every, across the board, nobody wanted to do this one right here, or hold the ball. It was like, nah, man, nah. Cause you don't look like. Yeah, you know, I look like a. Like a damn snitch, da da da, like a damn snitch. You look like that thing they post in the locker room
Starting point is 00:09:01 about the drug test man, like. No, we not doing that. So we're gonna room about the drug test man. No, we're not doing that. So we're going to talk about the Dame trade in a second, but we've got to start this show off with some lingering beef from this offseason. So Gil, you already have smoke with Milwaukee, Detroit, Isaiah Stewart, a.k.a. Beef Stew, Robert Ory, to name a few. But you added another name to that list, Hakeem Olajuwon.
Starting point is 00:09:24 That's why I had to rock the Dream shirt, okay? Oh! I didn't even notice that. My third favorite Nigerian. I had to put two and two together. My third favorite Nigerian. But after Giannis announced he was heading to Houston to work with the Dream, you thought he could do better things with that 50 band.
Starting point is 00:09:42 So why aren't you rolling with Giannis spending $50,000 to work out with Hakeem? It ain't worth it. Like, $50,000 to go there for a week to do what? Get a workout? I mean, that's what it is, getting a workout by Hakeem. So when people was like, yo, you can't attack him because of Hakeem. Being Hakeem when you played
Starting point is 00:10:01 and being Hakeem to teachers, two different people, right? Your legacy as a Hall of Famer is that you are amateur when it comes to training. Yeah. I'm sorry because I'm watching you. Because it ain't the same speed. And that's why you got to watch the film. Like, you ain't got to pay $50,000 for the film. YouTube is free. That's why you gotta watch the film. Like, you ain't gotta pay $50,000 for the film. YouTube.
Starting point is 00:10:25 YouTube is free. Like, yeah, you go watch it, and it's just, yeah, because you're getting it in real, like, the speed that he was doing it in when you're watching it. Like, what, Akeem, what, 60? Yeah. Come on, man. Shit, I'm 45, man.
Starting point is 00:10:40 That damn show ain't moving like I was when I was. Come on, man. Yeah. All right, it's just, yeah, nah, nah. 50? Man, he creating... Some shit you can watch for free? He creating flight attendants around that.
Starting point is 00:10:53 You know, I can just pick the phone up and call him and ask him, yo, so when I put my foot this way, it go this way? Okay, cool, appreciate you. He gonna invoice you about $3,000 for that car. You said because he's older, right? So because he's older and he can't do it at the same, there's no reason. So basically, the same shake ain't the same shake.
Starting point is 00:11:15 No, no, okay, so this is how it is. It is not. When you're trying to learn and you're a teacher of something, right? Yeah. You have to understand the player personnel that you're teaching, right? Just like in school, as a teacher, right? You're teaching the whole class, but everybody ain't getting A's, so that means everybody
Starting point is 00:11:33 ain't processing it the same. So he needs to do film on how they're moving, right? They're going there for footwork. Footwork starts with understanding ladder drills, independent legs, because he learned it as a soccer player. So it became second nature to him. He can't teach what he learned when he was 10. So when he's giving them the moves, it's nature to him.
Starting point is 00:12:00 So when they're doing the move and they're traveling, he's not correcting the feet because he doesn't actually see it So we got some video of that if we want to oh, yeah Pull up the video Travel Travel Travel Travel. Travel. Listen, the man, I'm not even going to lie.
Starting point is 00:12:31 This is all seven of his moves. Slow down, travel. Yeah, travel. He was like seven for eight for traveling. Motherfucker, Steph Curry on the good travel. Like, this is what I'm saying. You have to be able to correct. That's a travel.
Starting point is 00:12:47 They started calling it on stat after a while. Yep. Travel? Like, you can't, like... I respect I came with the baggy fit, though. Like, you didn't have to pay...
Starting point is 00:12:59 So... Man, you can do that shit right at your... That's what I'm saying. Paying 50K to travel. Gortat, travel. CanK to travel. Gortat. Travel. Can't do that.
Starting point is 00:13:08 Gortat, when they say... Travel? You can't do that either. But you got to respect Keem Hustle, though. No, but... You got to respect the Hustle, though. But show me that. Look at this.
Starting point is 00:13:19 Hey, I can... Listen, maybe I need to go... Keem. Come on. Travel. You can't do that. Sorry, sir. Travel. You can't do that. Sorry, sir Can't do that
Starting point is 00:13:32 50k you can't do that That's what I'm saying. I could teach you how to jump hook That's what I'm saying. Like so try to get to your job. Oh shit. I teach you that look I was just bullshitting at the beginning, but then they wanted to be like, oh, you attacking him? There you go. Yeah. Huh? Teach a traveling school.
Starting point is 00:13:49 Flight attendant. Uh-huh, they want to teach you how to travel. You should be a flight attendant. The way you motherfuckers move. Southwest. Southwest dream school right here. They earning wings, huh? They can't even get United or Delta.
Starting point is 00:13:57 They got a Southwest spirit. I don't need to charge y'all $50,000. I'm going to teach you basic, basic process. I'm going to teach you basic, basic process. I'm going to teach you basic, basic process. I'm going to teach you basic, basic process. I'm going to teach you basic, basic process. I'm going to teach you basic, basic process. I'm going to teach you basic, basic process. I'm going to teach you basic, basic process. I'm going to teach you basic, basic process. I'm going to teach charge off 50,000.
Starting point is 00:14:06 I'm going to teach you basic, basic process. Here we go. If this is your pivot, this is your jab, right? If I pull it up now, it's a travel. All right? If I go here and I lift this leg up before I bounce, travel. Simple. See, I't taught you everything you need Put the ball down before this leg you know, so this right here
Starting point is 00:14:34 Shit acting like something wrong with me Because I'm calling out the bullshit. I got Carmelo and a mother day car anybody you look at that. He's just traveling cuz He's slower now see then he was so fast that it all went together now that he's slow and he's teaching it how they're Looking at it. They're thinking it's okay Not realizing that his his speed slowed down. So the leg is living up faster than the ball is Your mellow fool. Yeah, mellow fool, yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:07 That jab stuff, listen, Jack. Good luck. Like that, like that. If I'm Dream, I'm bringing out the ladder drill, right? Football drills. Old Ocho Cinco. I'll say, spend $50,000 to learn footwork from Ocho Cinco first, then go to Dream.
Starting point is 00:15:26 So now the moves make sense, but- Now you're at 100. No, no, no. No, I'm just fucking- But that's what I'm saying, but you have to learn the basic understanding of how your feet move independently. So this usually hurts really athletic dudes, right? Two foot jumper, so you have to let these move independently so when you're
Starting point is 00:15:45 teaching a move it becomes easier to learn so like if Kyrie want to spend fifty thousand he gonna pick it up easy Kobe gonna pick it up easy yo kids you pick it up easy like Jimmy Butler all those guys more wings like that's why when people say yeah Kobe went there Melo went there, LeBron, wings. Yeah. We see what your big man doing. They got luggage. So you don't think it's going to help Giannis? No. No.
Starting point is 00:16:13 The reason is we played, right? No, we've trained. He came at the end of the year, last week. He went there last week. What the hell did he process in a week, right? For him to learn a new move, for it to be instinct. As soon as the season was over with, start now, till now, six months of it.
Starting point is 00:16:37 I would say go to KG before Dream. Yep. You know what I'm saying? And get KG's turnaround, like learn how to go right shoulder like KG is more effective than, because it's the same concept basically, but it's a different, like KG younger, he can, I think there's more similarities in that
Starting point is 00:16:57 length, wide, where his shot release, you know what I'm saying? Yeah. Yeah, I would. What about like Tim Duncan? Tim Duncan, like, so something of the nature. Yeah level It's levels like good games He can't teach his speed and his athleticism and his footwork He can't teach that he can teach to move but he can't teach you how to do it
Starting point is 00:17:16 So what ends up happening is this is a six months? I want to say yannis go to at the beginning of the summer first month just work all foot drills. There's no basketball. This ain't about basketball This is about learning how to use your feet in small spaces Then you get on the court and elevate right like that's how you supposed to train like when we were learning moves and we were Learning something we started at the beginning this summer all summer you come here for a week, right? You you have me They they're not even playing defense on each other, right? So if they're traveling by themselves, what happens when someone's doing this?
Starting point is 00:17:51 Yeah. Right, so what ends up happening is they try to move, travel. They try it again, traveling the game. Whatever they tried to learn that summer, they done let it out, right? I'm gonna wait till next summer to do it. So you wasted the whole summer because you can't even do it in real time. Yeah, and it's simple. Right? I'm going to wait until next summer to do it. So you wasted the whole summer because you can't even do it in real time. Yeah. And it's simple.
Starting point is 00:18:09 He's so big and athletic, strong. He just, it's a right shoulder jump shot, left shoulder jump hook. You know what I'm saying? Ain't nobody getting to it. It's one person. One person in the NBA, and that's Rudy Gobert, that could get to it if he posted him up. That to it. It's one person. One person in the NBA, and that's Rudy Gobert, that could get to it if he posted him up. That's it.
Starting point is 00:18:30 Can't nobody else in the league get to nothing he's trying to do around the rim. You know what I'm saying? So it's just simplified, man. Like, you pay, like, I just,
Starting point is 00:18:38 there's two moves, man, in the post. To be done, like, to add on what you're already working on. You know what I'm saying? So question for all y'all. Who's the NBA player that made you better after working out with them?
Starting point is 00:18:49 Me. Work out with yourself? Myself. Myself. Like I'm, you know. We back. It's me versus my lazy self. Right?
Starting point is 00:18:58 That's the real, the really biggest challenge is, you know, in a summer, like are you going to dedicate your summer to being better than who you were last year? So, you know, when you wake up every day is you versus your laziness, right? And from there, it's like, I learned, I ran track, I played football growing up. So, you know, I can see a move, write it down. That's how we had to learn, right? We didn't have trainers. So, you know, write a move down and then go out there and mimic it all, you know, mimic it all day. You know, that was training. You know, I didn't need someone to walk me through the details of the move. I can process it, look at it, but that comes
Starting point is 00:19:37 because I already had the footwork. So once you get the footwork, it's easier. Yeah. I think, I mean, not a player, but AMWA mixtape was big for us back in the day. Just going to the driveway and just working on moves. You see Hot Sauce or Skip to My Lou do. And I think I got a tape in the eighth grade of Kenny Anderson. And everything Kenny Anderson did, I just did, because I was lefty. So it wasn't like I didn't need, like, you know, I ended up meeting Kenny Anderson later, but I didn't need to train with Kenny.
Starting point is 00:20:05 I just saw what he did, and I just, you know, put it into my game. So, I mean, but I think it's just your natural ability of the game of basketball, too. Yeah, before my rookie, I worked out with Kiki Vanderwey. Oh. Feet? Footwork. Footwork. Footwork.
Starting point is 00:20:20 Placement, like where to put my feet if guys crowd me, saying just certain things that he had. Kiki probably one of the hardest. Him and my pops used to work out all the time in the summertime when they were both in the league. One of the hardest working dudes, straight bucket getter. Yeah, so I worked out with Kiki. He didn't charge me, of course.
Starting point is 00:20:36 Of course, I didn't pay $50,000. It was free tutorial. Kiki, too, when we first came in. He'd be working everybody out at UCLA. Yep. And he was like, yeah, you got good footwork. And he was just teaching me little details to help me speed up moves that I was doing. That old school where you don't go back negative step, go forward. So he was just teaching me the NBA where everything closes and opens.
Starting point is 00:21:02 Yeah, yeah, yeah. Right? He was telling me to double tap the jab and go. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You know what NBA where everything closes and opens. Yeah, right. Tell me to double tap the jab and yeah Go yeah saying like if I was so fat, I'm fast everybody I'm playing against So that today the jab and then just take off with the second one like I'm getting by everybody, you know No, no, Kiki. No bread. No bread. No bread. What NBA player would you pay? Nobody for training? Nobody well, I, I would pay as a player or growing up. If you were a current player in the league right now, what former NBA player would you
Starting point is 00:21:33 seek out and actually give some bread? None. Damn, dude. The reason none is because it's wolves, right? You training with another wolf, he ain't training you to get you better. He's training you to see your weakness. I'm going to say a former NBA player who has no interest in trying to compete with you right now. Maybe somebody that was a drop-dead shooter.
Starting point is 00:21:55 You know what I'm saying? Like a Mark Price or somebody like that that didn't miss free throws. Something like that, maybe. Probably Steve Nash. If I was a pick-and-roll guy, I'd work with Steve Nash on what he's looking at, how he's setting up the guy. But his passing, his... You have to really understand who you are.
Starting point is 00:22:17 I can't get advice from someone that doesn't have my game. So today, if I'm coming into the NBA, I want to work with Dame, Steph, Kyrie, Booker, those type of, because that's my style, James Harden, understanding how to get fouled. And I'm not going to work with Lonzo Ball, right? LaMelo Ball. That is pointless because that's not my style of play.
Starting point is 00:22:42 Just like with Hakeem. Half you dudes are bench players. That is pointless because that's not my style of play. Just like with Hakeem. Half you dudes are bench players. Even if you get this move, you're on the bench with it. 50,000. Come on. Three years in the league, we know what we are. Right?
Starting point is 00:22:59 You're coming off the bench, rebound, run down there. You don't need to work on no moves in the summer because nobody's going to be like, oh, you went to Hakeem? Hit a ball. Come run this 77. When was the last time JaVale got the ball in the post to do anything? No, you better get it off the glass and possibly put it back up. Kick it back out. God damn, come and do this pick and roll. What's wrong with people?
Starting point is 00:23:22 Know you, man. God damn. Know you. So we'll find out soon if Giannis learned the dream shake or the scheme shake. What the fuck is wrong with people? Know you, man. God damn. Know you. So we'll find out soon if Giannis learned the dream shake or the scheme shake. But he got some great news last week that shocked waves through the basketball world. So after nearly three months of waiting and wondering, Dame time is heading into Milwaukee in a blockbuster three-team trade. It expanded output.
Starting point is 00:23:41 Here's the breakdown. Bucks got Dame. Blazers got Drew Holiday, DeAndre Ayton, the Suns 20-23 second round pick, Tumani Kamara, an unprotected 20-29 first round pick from the Bucks, plus two pick swaps. Blazers went on to flip Drew to the Celtics for Malcolm Brogdon, Robert Williams, the two first round picks.
Starting point is 00:23:58 And the Suns got Nert, Grayson Allen, Nasir Little, and Keyon Johnson. So the Bucks held media day-to-day. And Dame, you know, was excited to say the least to be able to play with Giannis. He said to play alongside the best player in the league is going to be fun. Dame also addressed his mindset defensively heading into the season. He said, if you take a look at my progression defensively, I've gotten better year over year over year. Also playing on a defensive minded team this year, it will make it more simple.
Starting point is 00:24:25 I'm a competitor. At the very least, I'm going to compete. So Gil, we'll start with you. What are your thoughts on the Bucks getting Dame Dollar? I think it's a great fit. You know, when you're a scoring guard that can shoot the hell out of the ball, having a big that can roll
Starting point is 00:24:42 and dunk, like it is, they can't hard show they can't lag right they can't go under they have to always follow you um that was the steve nash amari um situation um you know dame is dame was number one in actual pick and roll points you know creating points off the pick and roll he was number one. Giannis was number one in, you know, points, you know, points in the paint.
Starting point is 00:25:09 So you have a hell of a combo right there. Right now, we know you, a Bucks is six. Mr. B, go ahead
Starting point is 00:25:17 and talk your shit. Oh, well, it's the greatest move Milwaukee has made in 50 years since they got Oscar Robertson in the trade.
Starting point is 00:25:26 So I think first and foremost for the front office, you know, you got to tap your head off to John Horst. He did his job. So, you know, he did his job. He brought, you know, he brought the best point guard. Dame said he's the best point guard in the NBA to Milwaukee. So their job is done. Dame said it, but do you agree? We were just in Baltimore, Brandon.
Starting point is 00:25:53 We talked to a nice-skinned gentleman out there who may disagree with you. No, no, for sure. I mean, if you feel that way, that's how you feel. You know, I don't think so. Not right now, not into, you know, I think he wins a ring or something like that, if they run off a couple. But, no, I mean, the city's excited, of course. You know, the pressure's on, though. I mean, you know, they're going to have to, you know, do we treat this like when Bron went to Miami and when KD went to Golden State? Or is it because he didn't have, you know, his, you know, he wasn't able to make the choice? Or,
Starting point is 00:26:23 you know, but he's still with a, you know, a championship-caliber team. So, you know, he wasn't able to make the choice or, you know, but he's still with a, you know, a championship caliber team. So, you know, how, you know, how do we approach this trade though from Dane? Like, do we put that type of pressure on him or is it just? Yeah, I don't see why not. She's in a great situation. So they have to win it this year. Yeah. I think shit, that's anything less. I think they will look at as a failure. I think this situation is better than him going to Miami. Fuck yeah. Way better. You know what I'm saying? It's just different pieces and they want it.
Starting point is 00:26:52 I'm saying with the pieces, of course Drew gone, but I just think with having some of the pieces that was there still, they want it, just adding him makes them...yeah. They're going to have to put the pressure. They were the number one team last year in the NBA. Middleton didn't even have a good year. He was in and out.
Starting point is 00:27:16 Still number one. You got him healthy and you have Dame. It's a different problem. It's going to be like Denver. Nobody really sees this outcome. They're going to be winning and we're going to be like Denver. Nobody really sees this outcome, right? It's just they're going to be winning, and we're going to be like, oh, yeah, they are. But if they were number one last year without Middleton really there,
Starting point is 00:27:34 and you have them healthy, and you have Dame, the playoffs is going to be a little different. And they worked on the bench, too. Yeah. Just the playoffs itself is where Dame is. The playoffs is where they need Dame because he's a great playoff player. The finisher. Yeah, 34 the playoffs itself is where Dame, the playoffs is where they need Dame because he's a great playoff player. He's a finisher.
Starting point is 00:27:48 Yeah, 34 points a game, the last playoffs, shooting 45 from the field. Put the ball in the hand, make free throws. Yep, 46, yeah, yeah, yeah. It's all that, you know what I'm saying? Drew was horrible last year in the playoffs. He shot 69 from the free throw line. Yeah, he would go to that.
Starting point is 00:28:05 40%, 29 from the three. I mean, no, free throw line. Yeah, he would go to that. 40%. 29 from the three. I mean, no, he's definitely going to remember that. No, no. Coming in this year. But the defense, like, I'm not worrying about the defense. You're not worrying about defense? No.
Starting point is 00:28:15 Why? Because I have Giannis and Brook Lopez back there. That, aren't they the, like, I got them back there. Like, if I got Kenya back there, I'm going to do my job, but I'm not trying to be no stopper if this is my stopper. He got two backline stoppers. So we can say Drew is great individually, yes, but it helps that you have two guys back there that shut shit down also.
Starting point is 00:28:43 That's why I always had that problem. Like, who gets the points for this stop? You know, Drew or does Giannis get it? It never made sense to me. So how do they beat Boston in the playoffs? Like, right now, healthy. Okay, so say, like, what if the shot's not falling? Whose?
Starting point is 00:29:02 For Dame, right? And when they play playing against Boston. But you still have to respect it. No, no, for sure you have to respect it. Still got the equalizer because Boston ain't got nobody and Chance and Hale, the guard and Giannis are taking... No, that's what I'm saying. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:29:20 But what I'm saying, with Drew... With Drew being gone. With Drew being gone. So even when Drew did struggle offensively, he did play great great defense. Yeah, so, you know you can't so that's all I'm saying like what happens when that because it's gonna happen it's gonna come up what what happens with if you look at Boston There two wings Aren't yet fully disciplined in their play. They're very great at what they do, but they're not disciplined.
Starting point is 00:29:50 Where, you know, sometimes when Tatum will settle more than he should. So majority of Tatum's shots is going to be step sides, step backs, threes. So with his athleticism, he doesn't actually attack the basket as you would think. You know, Jalen is more of the attacker, but you can see sometimes he'll get complacent. Until they realize what they do during game, which means they should have been watching a lot of film this summer to see me trying to drive in traffic, me doing this to understand what my flaw is and clean it up. Other than that, you expect the same type of movement. One shooting long threes with the step side, step instead of really just trying to get to the penalty fast where my job was to try to get us into the penalty.
Starting point is 00:30:37 Now if I'm getting to the penalty, you want to keep me out of the lane. Now my shot opens up. I start hitting shots, you play, I drive. There's a chess part of it. With Tatum, he makes two, three shots. The next 15 shots he takes, 13 going to be jumpers. Got you. Okay. Yes. Right?
Starting point is 00:30:57 Absolutely. Okay. I mean, I got Milwaukee coming out anyways. I'm just, you know, we're having to- Yeah, no, but he going to have to- We're chatting. He going to have to buy in. You know what I'm just I'm just you know, we have no but he don't have to be chatting. He'll have to buy in I'm saying okay. Like you can't like you said he gonna do his job. He gonna he ought to pick like his words He got the buy-in Like to what the group is doing, you know, you just can't be the only one out there
Starting point is 00:31:16 Like the only liability, you know I'm saying that you had to put some put put forth more effort than you have Okay, I think he realized that for him to address it means he realized that he was dogging it probably at times on the defensive end, you know what I'm saying? And they don't allow that shit here. Okay. So, you got it?
Starting point is 00:31:33 Yeah. It's going to be hard to stop Giannis, man. No, for sure. It's been hard. I mean, but now you see it. But what I'm saying is, it's impossible now. You got someone, yeah,
Starting point is 00:31:47 who's sitting at the damn half court, right? You got someone sitting at the half court. You can't sit in like, now, Brook Lopez- You got to guard this man. Come on, man. There's no... When that picket... Listen, I had to guard Steve Nash, man, right? With Amari Rowland, right? And I used to complain like, yo, let's just trap him. So I didn't have to... Because I ain't one of my men. Let's just trap
Starting point is 00:32:06 him. Right? But if you trap it, all you do is just go set up the three, the three side, right? They're going to play three man. Pick and roll. Middleton popping up. So whoever tried to catch Giannis, Middleton swinging rap, that's a three. If you don't help, that's a dunk, right?
Starting point is 00:32:21 Five man Lopez sitting at this three point line, right? So when Giannis goes down there. He's by himself Right so when he starts driving you got four shooters is gonna be different No, no, it's gonna be different. Yeah, I mean I expect us to start off 10 to know Hey, hey, I'm coaching. I do nothing man Not real. I mean yeah coach Griffin. No, mean, I mean I mean this motherfucker just the thing yo People think Yannis played hard before. Mm-hmm Yeah
Starting point is 00:33:01 It's about to get ignorant out here man. Yeah, I'm saying you got this trying to win one and another one. Mm-hmm. You got this killer with him. Yo. I'm expecting back-to-back. Bruh. It's going to be the greatest era of basketball Milwaukee has ever seen. I'm Bucs fan.
Starting point is 00:33:18 To atone for your Milwaukee slander. I got the zero already coming, bruh. I got the zero coming. Because we're going to be in Milwaukee at some point. I got the zero zero coming. Because we're going to be in Milwaukee. I got the zero coming. Yeah, we're going to be in Milwaukee. And I know he's going to wear the damn dollar zero connection because it's the color. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:32 Oh, no. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Hey, they might boo me, but I don't care. I'm in that zero. Zero.
Starting point is 00:33:43 Milwaukee's our-people guild. Midwest people are very nice. We need to go. Yeah. Detroit. We're going to go to the game of six. Yeah, I don't think I'm lying. I don't think I'm lying.
Starting point is 00:33:52 Detroit's another situation, though. I got to have a whole goo squad to go to Detroit. Game ain't in Detroit. 4-1-4, you good. You good. So where does this Bucs big three, Giannis, Damon, Mid Middleton rank in the league right now, in your guys' opinion? Probably as a... Wait, wait, wait.
Starting point is 00:34:11 How are we doing this? As a trio. As a trio? Or just... We're not using rings, right? We're not doing that bullshit. Right now, entering the league this year... We're not doing that shit, right?
Starting point is 00:34:20 We just... The year our Lord, 2023, 2024 season. Talent-wise? Yes. On paper, looking at this healthy What how does everybody healthy everybody lined up? I'm gonna a second who's first sons. Okay, just making sure for me, that's fair That's fair. I'm I
Starting point is 00:34:39 Still like going to stay Who's trio? I? Mean shit, I mean you saidlay, and fucking Draymond. That's what I said. Are we talking rings? Because you take the rings out. Individually. I don't want to cause no problem. Man said skill. Skill. Individually. They got to- Individual skill. You got to stand up. You got to line up each one each.
Starting point is 00:35:02 Yeah, you got to- Right? So that means if you put it like these great aspects of it, but Curry you're limited. Yo, right we're gonna get at the curry Mm-hmm. Okay Booker in clay. Uh-huh. We'll see Well say you heard what clay said he went he went below the belt talking about the four and all that. You know what I'm saying? They got beef. That's what I'm saying.
Starting point is 00:35:29 We'll see who's making shots. And then Clay and then Draymond. I mean, Draymond and KD, you know how that's going to be a dog fight. Yeah, there's going to be 30, 30, and six, six, and five. A lot of fouls. There's going to be a lot of fouls. 36, six, and five. That game might not be long. Like, I like, like, with Middleton, he's in his real position.
Starting point is 00:35:50 Yeah. Third option. He's a great third option. It's like when KD went to Golden State and Klay was the third option. That's a powerful third. Andrew Wiggins. Yeah. So you say Middleton's the third option.
Starting point is 00:36:04 Great third option. But who's the third option. Great third option. But who's the Bucs' second option? Well, Dame is the... No, this is how... Dame is the second option. Let's not do that. Let's not do that. Dame is the second option.
Starting point is 00:36:18 We're going to do it how the game is played, right? Or how it's supposed to be played if you're smart coaching. Dame is the second option. how the game is played, right? Or how it's supposed to be played if you're smart coaching. Dame is the second option, the first 43 minutes of the game. The last five minutes of the game, Dame is the number one option. Absolutely. And Giannis is the second option.
Starting point is 00:36:38 It's 1A and 1B, damn it. That should be it. Jack and Kobe. It's 1A and 1B. I mean, it's one A and one B. I mean, it's a similar thing with a bucket KD and now even potentially Bill. Like, who can get a bucket in that final five minutes? If I'm saying it can rotate. Rule of thumb is like this.
Starting point is 00:36:57 The ball will find, in that situation, it's the matchup. When you got three killers like that, like offensively, more than likely you go who got the best unless a dude got it going or you just go with the matchup. Who's the weaker defender? Okay, we're going to pick and roll
Starting point is 00:37:16 him to put him in it. Then they're going to keep doing that until the coach decides, God damn, we got to take him out. I said the last five minutes because that's when your go-to guy gets the ball, right? Because the last five minutes you're hoping you're in the penalty, right? So like with the Lakers, you couldn't pass the ball down the shack because they're going to foul him.
Starting point is 00:37:34 Now he's got to shoot free throws, right? So the last five minutes is when, you know, the guy who can shoot the middie, shoot the shot, he has poise, he can make his free throws. So that's, so it's Giannis the first 43 and then Dame takes over. Just like Kyrie, I mean Kyrie and LeBron. The first 43 was LeBron, that last five minutes was Kyrie. Yeah, unless, like I said. Unless LeBron cooking.
Starting point is 00:37:59 Unless, yeah, the matchup going, yeah, you going, all right, yeah, yeah, okay, we get it, but. The matchup going, yeah, you're going, all right, yeah, yeah, okay, we get it. But... I just had to ask. This is Gil's Arena. We asked a tough question. We're in hostile territory. Season two. And as always, show's brought to you by Underdog Fantasy. If you have not done so, download the app.
Starting point is 00:38:15 You said 500? Yeah, and to the fourth. If you use promo code GIL, put 500 in there, match 500. Get it. Get it. Man, look, I'm going to tell you all a little thing that I do. Put the 500. They give you 500.
Starting point is 00:38:31 Right? They give you 500. Three pick'ems. Right? 50 wins you 300. Right? You got 10. You got 10.
Starting point is 00:38:41 You get 10 options to do that. All you do is you got to win one three in a row. That gives you 600 right there. 600. You know what I'm saying? 600. I'm going to 15 grand on the door. Don't tell them I told you, but this is where you want to invest.
Starting point is 00:38:57 Get that free 500. You got to be unlucky to lose all of it. To lose all of it. You know. We know people that's doing it. Before you go into your pocket. We know people that's doing it. Before you go into your pocket. We know people that's doing it. Sometimes it's coaching. Sometimes Taylor Swift's at the game maybe and Patrick Mahomes doesn't perform at the
Starting point is 00:39:11 level he needs to to get you over the hump. Not saying no names or blaming nobody. Hey, stay away from the stars. See that's where they make their money. Everybody want to play with the stars. Nah, I get like kickers Right kicker running back on you WNBA play be like 7.5 points Low hello, low on a 7.5. Yeah, you play seven minutes Angel Wilson, I appreciate you as you really are you supporting supporting my family. I know you got that MVP snub. You was going to do work, and you've been out here doing it. Yeah, that's crazy, man. That's crazy talk.
Starting point is 00:39:50 We're going to get into it tomorrow. That's crazy talk. But Giannis said he was going to wait to sign his extension until the Bucs proved they were committed to winning. So Bucs GM John Horst made his next move his best move, God damn. But Giannis still made some questionable comments about his future today in Milwaukee at Media Day. For me personally, Milwaukee is a great city.
Starting point is 00:40:08 You know, OKC is a great city. Utah is a great city. Denver is a great city. You know, like, those cities for me is great where I can raise my family kind of normal and go out there and do my job in the best of my ability. But some people looking for other stuff. OKC a great city? the best of my ability but some people looking looking for other stuff okay for him for me I guess you come from a third world country any city besides the one you came in is a great city that man smoking a he on that he on that McCants that's what we gonna start call it dilution he on that McCants for you tall grease come on man yeah but I mean he's simple though yeah He on that McCants. Utah and Greece. Come on, man.
Starting point is 00:40:46 But, I mean, he's simple, though. Yeah, he a hermit. Yeah. He work out and go home. So, he just had a... I just, you know, I just feel, you know, he's going to get older, man. I mean, you know, and, you know, he's got other things that he probably wants to do, too, outside of basketball.
Starting point is 00:41:09 And I don't know, you know, and, you know, with growing with your life and family, you know, can Milwaukee, you know, help that, you know, as far as the market? Will Dane be enough to keep Giannis with the Bucs for the long term? He good. No, I'm just saying, like, you know, I mean... I don't think he required much. Okay, all right, you got to put it like this then.
Starting point is 00:41:28 A shoe deal. So say, like, would Nike give him a lifetime deal if he's in Milwaukee? If he wins two more championships and another MVP? I don't know. I mean... Guess what it is. I'm just talking business. It's a great possibility. I'm not saying nothing bad about Milwaukee. It's a great possibility. I don't know. I mean, guess what it is. It's a great possibility.
Starting point is 00:41:46 It's a great possibility. I don't think these days, I don't think you need to be in a big market in order to do that. I think so. Because it's a lifetime deal, I think so. You still do, but he's just like, where he's coming from, like, we're not paying, we...
Starting point is 00:42:01 They're coming from over the water, so they have different mindsets. So him coming here was a blessing for him anyway. So he looks at everything positive. So I don't think he's really looking for what LA or New York actually really has to offer because that's not something he's seeking. Him as more family. So his brothers, if they're not playing with him
Starting point is 00:42:28 on those teams, then he has no interest anyway. And I'm pretty sure he's building a house back where he actually is from. You know, for sure. You know what I mean? Like, your kids don't have a house here. They live in a condo.
Starting point is 00:42:40 He's building a dream home wherever he's from. So, um... I don't know. He just keeps... Because he keeps bringing it up. home, wherever he's from? So, um, they usually go- I don't know, he just keeps, because he keeps bringing it up. Like, you know, he keeps talking about it. So it's like, you know- No, because he's answering questions. So he don't know not to answer the question that they're asking.
Starting point is 00:42:53 Yeah, but why do you got to keep asking me the same, like I already said, like- Because it's a thing. He answered it though. It's a thing though. Right? But it's still a thing. Now that Dame is there, is it still a thing for you?
Starting point is 00:43:02 You know what I'm saying? That's what they're asking. So we didn't hear the question, but that's more's more like that was the basis of you don't say Not a dames here. Do you still feel like you need to send? All right So we'll have an open my have an open mind about playing somewhere else and he went on just answering questions like he would normally Would right okay instead of processing like I'm gonna be like not I understand what I said before right, right This changes the scenario for me this changes the narrative. Okay, now that Dame is here
Starting point is 00:43:32 I'm saying that's where they should have been but yeah, okay He answered the question like he normally would answer okay, but now these small markets places are great for me, right? It's still leverage to he has to keep the leverage okay, right, you know yeah. And it's still leverage, too. He has to keep the leverage. Okay. Right? So he's playing the game. No, no, no. Yeah, if he says, yo, you know, Dane was good, I'm good, I'm going to sign my contract, now
Starting point is 00:43:54 they know we don't need to get better no more. He's happy with this. Versus next summer coming, like, hey, you know, if we didn't win it, hey, hey, now they got to make another move Right, okay Before he signs that deal just so he knows look I got Dame for three more years and whoever we sign or wherever we make a trade for like they might like Lopez like think about it that Lopez and Middleton and get some superstar right now you got them three and becomes a different that what if they got him be Right Now you got them three. It becomes a different thing. What if they got Embiid? Right?
Starting point is 00:44:25 Think about it. What if this summer, or what's the name? You got Brooke Lopez and Middleton and got Embiid over there. Have a whole different. Hell no, he ain't going nowhere. But that's what I'm saying. You have to keep that leverage. You have to keep that leverage. So you feel like right now Dame isn't enough to get Yana someone to sign an extension of the squad
Starting point is 00:44:46 Is he in wait-and-see mode to see how this team actually performs on the court? Not like you you know how good your team is, you know, like yeah, this is yeah With us three. Yeah, we got this we can do we can do some with these three But I still need to make sure they're moving in the right direction anyway Yeah, absolutely that's fair. That's what all that's good, man I still need to make sure they're moving in the right direction anyway. Right? Yeah, absolutely. Absolutely. That's fair.
Starting point is 00:45:07 All that's fair. You don't want to be Dame back in Portland. Just sitting there, right? Collecting stats while they're just like, ah, yeah, he's done fell off. That's stats. That's stats. Yeah, you know, he's 30.
Starting point is 00:45:21 Average of 35 and 40. It don't mean nothing. Like, you know how hard it is. It's a habit. You have to be. To play one on five. Like the concept of what people say. It's easy to score 30 points on a bad team. No, it's not.
Starting point is 00:45:35 Yeah, yeah. No, it's not. I have to try to score on your whole defense when it's all designated to stop me. Night in, night out. Night night out double T's triple T's Everybody loading up and I still got it. It's harder versus I got King come off the pick and roll. There's never no double Yeah, you go kill your dunk on them. I come off shoot the three Yeah, you take you take clay off watch out hard You take clay off the watch out hard steps gotta's gotta go That's a little pass ago. Get it back. That was a hard game. Absolutely
Starting point is 00:46:09 War itself out when he was when I'm dudes was out Like war himself wore himself out when I'm dudes wasn't there man, cuz he had to do all of that So you're honest and Middleton both under contract till 2025 when they got player options. Dame under contract until 2026. Dame said he wanted to go to the Heat. You know, we say it's a good move, better move to go to Milwaukee. That may not be what he was looking for from the work-life balance in terms of the city. Milwaukee, nice city. It doesn't compare to South Beach.
Starting point is 00:46:37 We can just keep it real. So will Dame stay in Milwaukee after his deal is up? Oof. He should. It all depends on what happens. If they win. If they win. I mean, it all depends on what happens,
Starting point is 00:46:53 if he's getting the respect that he deserves, right? You know, players like him, it's when he thinks he's the best, I'm the number one guard, like pound for pound. When you take away the team aspect and say my matchup versus him, he can't do nothing with me. Right? The only thing that has him in front is because he's winning. He has other players that help him win.
Starting point is 00:47:18 But when it comes to our matchup together, I feel I'm number one. Now he's going to be on the winning team. So let's see if the accolades follow him. Let's see if everybody's like, okay, Dame is top one, top two, top three. That's always how we play the game, right? I'm way better than you, bro, but your team is better.
Starting point is 00:47:37 And to pick another point to that, how will he adjust and adapt to playing with somebody like Giannis? You know what I'm saying? He's always been the man. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:47:49 He's always been the man that had, like, just been him. CJ was nice, but it's a different dynamic playing with somebody like that. Somebody that dominant. You know what I'm saying? When Giannis needs the ball at times, you know what I'm saying, to beat him. How you go adjust to that, You know what I'm saying? When Giannis needs the ball at times, you know what I'm saying, to beat him. How you go adjust to that, you know what I'm saying? He's a smart
Starting point is 00:48:11 basketball player, obviously. He's played for a long time. Hearing him speak, he's intelligent in his thinking, you know what I'm saying? Is it going to be right away? How long is it going to take for, you know what I'm saying? Is that a thing? It's easier because
Starting point is 00:48:33 How they play the game right? It's they they're not in the same realm of the game, right? So there's no clash for spots and spacing So, you know Giannis likes to be on the left side of the court Dame likes to be on the right side of the course. So it's that swing you attack if you don't got it Look for me. I'll come this way. Giannis is not a set it up, give it to me in a post type of guy. They're both coming downhill. It puts him back to CJ and how he played. Same thing with Kyrie and LeBron.
Starting point is 00:49:02 Because they're both going downhill, it's a little bit easier. From there, it's just getting timing. It's just getting timing. You know, preseason, first month, it's just going to be natural ability. They're going to both be a little hesitant. It's not like Kyrie and Luka where they are sitting there trying to figure out who's going to get it because they both do the same thing. Absolutely. Right?
Starting point is 00:49:29 Yes. Like, is it my turn to do this? Watch this. Yeah. I think it's going to be easy. I think it's going to be a lot easier. It's just more pickup because, like you said, they're downhill. Just posing.
Starting point is 00:49:43 Yeah. It's going to take a lot of pressure off Dane for sure Oh, yeah, so a lot so all those like tough buckets that he was having this, you know score He won't have to do you know this year and if all the weight, you know So so we said can you said the Bucks don't win a chip this year they should consider it out of failure So we did a poll, you said if the Bucks don't win a chip this year, they should consider that a failure. So we did a poll. Let me pull it up.
Starting point is 00:50:11 It said the Bucks need to win the title to make the trade worth it. 80% said yes. 20% said no. That's coming from our chat, too. A lot of fine people in that chat. But a lot of dickheads, too. Let's just be real. No, no.
Starting point is 00:50:22 They got two years together, right? Yeah. At least two years. At least two years. Potentially with this Giannis. I'm going back to back. They winning a championship in these two years together, right? Yeah. At least two years. At least two years. Potentially with this Giannis. I want back-to-back. They winning a championship in these two years. One of these two years?
Starting point is 00:50:30 Yes. Okay. Back-to-back. Back-to-back would be great. Yeah. Back-to-back would be tough. Deal with the statue. Because they have winning pedigree.
Starting point is 00:50:42 Yeah. Right? For the most part, that whole team has winning pedigree. Yeah. Right? You know, for the most part, that whole team has winning pedigree. Yeah. You know, that's the thing that they have, right? You're talking about a group of guys who knows how to play great all season, holding down the number one spot, being the third spot, chasing to get the number one spot, winning a championship. Like, you really have a group that has,
Starting point is 00:51:05 and with Giannis that plays hard and he don't like losing. Right? It's one of those things where, you know, all they have to do is just be healthy when the playoffs start, clicking at the right time, you can really say aye. That's it, healthy. Healthy. So barring any health issues, this squad, full strength,
Starting point is 00:51:24 they're close to full strength. Obviously nobody ever full strength when the season starts, but Yeah, but that brings me to my next point. So Giannis already got a chip, Middleton already got a chip, Dame obviously the new kid on the block coming in here, you know been down the last couple years But who is the pressure on the most to win a championship this season? in the league? The a championship this season? In the league? On the books. The pressure's gonna be on Giannis because he puts it on himself. Okay.
Starting point is 00:51:49 He puts the pressure on himself to win one. Yeah. You know, Dame doesn't have pressure because he's not the one that's, you know, putting the demands of
Starting point is 00:52:00 we need to get better or I'm out, right? So he's coming in there saying, I got your big dog. Yeah. I'm trying to keep, my job is to in there saying, I got your big dog. Yeah. I'm trying to keep, my job is to try to keep you here because if y'all leave,
Starting point is 00:52:09 I'm by myself again. So my job is to make sure, you know, that you stay here for the long haul so I don't have the pressure of, like, winning it. My pressure is to keep you to stay and I just got to do my job.
Starting point is 00:52:23 No, it's pressure on him to win. It's pressure on him to win. It's pressure on him to win. Pressure on Dave to win? He says he's the best point guard in the NBA. I think this is pressure on him. Well, then prove it then. So this year you have to prove it. Okay, so if he averages 22.
Starting point is 00:52:34 No, no, no. No, what I'm saying is he averages 22 points a game, and he wins a championship. Are you going to say you're the best point guard? No. That's what he said, though. I know that's what he said, but are you going to give it to him? But he can't.
Starting point is 00:52:44 No, what I'm saying is he has an argument to back that up though. Oh Either you the best or the best I don't give a fuck about your ring If I mean if I say I'm the best point guard and I go win it this year and I lead my team being the point Guard I'm the best point guard in the NBA I'm the best point guard cuz I bust all y'all ass every time we played matchup against each other That's what makes me the best right That's what makes me the best 82 games for 82 games I'm averaging 35 and some and every time we played against you I bust you out that makes me the best Right you win the new for a regular season not you hold. Thank you win because your team is better
Starting point is 00:53:19 That doesn't work. That doesn't work with me that that that's that's great for media, right? That's great for the outside, right? You're averaging 15, 10, and your team win a championship, and I'm averaging 38 on you with 10. Like, I'm better than you. No, but I'm saying not, okay, if you're playing right, and Dame goes and he's with whatever, like, you know, plays for another team and his team is better,
Starting point is 00:53:44 but he's already been that nigga since. Like, that that doesn't and you bust his ass or you have more points That doesn't mean that you're better than that just means that Was I better than the whole time? Were you I mean, I don't know but you guys are getting the same type of numbers And he wins it. Yeah It's easy. Yeah, no, no, I'm saying his numbers are going down but you busted it ass But but that doesn't mean that you're trash. No way. No way. No, I'm saying his numbers are going down, but you busting it out. But that doesn't mean that you're... Trash! No way.
Starting point is 00:54:07 No way. No way. That just means that you have more opportunity. Amen. My team is changing. You got to stand. That's why I said I don't like how we define greatness by winning when winning takes a lot of other great people too, right? Winning is just your, how you approach the game.
Starting point is 00:54:30 This is that whole, you know, would you rather have 58 million and a ring, or seven rings, or 300 million? It depends on who you are though. The seriousness of it. Yeah, let's go back to your, you couldn't tell nobody that before Mike won a ring, he wasn't the fucking best player in the NBA. Mm-hmm. It's just like, no, I'm the best player in the NBA.
Starting point is 00:54:50 Come on, man. I ain't got no ring. Who cares? Like, hands down, I'm the best, baddest motherfucker out here. Like, that's just what it is. You know what I'm saying? Now I got a ring, like, I'm the best ever. Like, not just in the best in the league.
Starting point is 00:55:03 Now I got these rings, I'm the best ever. You know what I'm saying, but before he had a ring With an argument for a broader goat debate though Like we do you sat with Steph you asked him do you think he was a better PG the magic staff said he did They asked magic that same question and magic Dropped the rings on you know it you can't drop rings You got to understand your situation. How did you win your rings right right? you got
Starting point is 00:55:31 You as a number one pick that came from some crooked shit that happened y'all won a championship went back to the NBA Finals Somehow got another deal that got James worried the number one pick there right your team was Inherited great You got inherited. Steph built his from the beginning, right? He built his from the ground up and won his, right? And sometimes we don't look at how the empire was built. It's like a guy who earned his billions. He started with zero and built this empire versus someone getting a check from his daddy
Starting point is 00:56:01 and then he starts off like, yeah, you might have more money than me, but this is what you started with versus mine. Mine is self-made. People tend to ignore facts. Yep. Sounds about right. Let's call it what it is. Like, these are facts. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:56:17 But they want to cherry pick what matters. You know what I'm saying? The fact remains, like, guys, guys, they started from here to here. And that's, like, you can't talk to people like that.
Starting point is 00:56:30 It's hard to have conversations with people that choose to ignore facts and fucking logic. It is. Like, it's really hard to talk to people that way.
Starting point is 00:56:42 You know what I'm saying? Like, you know what, you got it. Like, it's hard, like, to people that way. You know what I'm saying? Like, you know what? You got it. Like, it's hard. Like, I'm not finna waste my time going back and forth with you when you ignore fucking facts. Like, this shit is, like... Yeah.
Starting point is 00:56:56 Like, that's what... But that's what, like, even with the little argument about 58, seven rings, or 300 million, right? I look at it like, what you picked let me know your mindset, right? Let me know your mindset, right? Everyone says, well, seven rings is a winner. No, 300 million is the winner because think about what you're doing for that owner to pay you 300 million.
Starting point is 00:57:24 Right? Like, I'm paying you 300 million for that owner to pay you 300 million right like I'm paying you 300 million for a reason so that means you are probably the hardest worker you come into work you're doing your busing as you are the one that's trying to push this seven rings but you only made 58 million which is three million dollars a year you know-year career, you was the eighth, ninth man on your team. That means your work ethic was the same. You didn't process the feeling of,
Starting point is 00:57:54 I need to try to carry this team. I need to outwork everybody. Hey, get on my back. Understand failure. Understand I missed this game winner. Going to the locker room and your boys is looking at you and like, my bad, y'all. I'm going to take that to the gym. and your boys is looking at you like my bad y'all i'm gonna take that to the chin you got seven rings 58 million and you are the mediocre player there's no pressure
Starting point is 00:58:10 on you that's that's easy right 300 million like you have to understand the concept that means he had to carry weight he had to carry expectations failures and he just didn't win it right we're not talking about the Michael Jordans who got the money in the ring we're talking about really the ones who didn't make it and the ones that's just mediocre and I think they're trying to push this that narrative of would you rather
Starting point is 00:58:38 score 10-5 and win a national championship or 65 like I want to pick I want to pick the route that makes me the man. Yeah. Right? Yeah. Which shows you the work ethic I got to put in to be that guy
Starting point is 00:58:53 versus the work ethic I put in just to fit in. Yeah. When you look at, James, 11 seasons in Portland, I don't think at any point in his career you could look at those Blazers and say this is the best team in the league. So the point is you're dependent on management, ownership to actually make those moves to surround you with a good team. Look at Steph, like you said Steph was able to build up the Warriors, but the Warriors also got some good deals because Steph had
Starting point is 00:59:18 the janky ankles and got them for a janky contract, but brought other guys in, got KD, basically put a winning product out there. So you know when you look at Dame situation now, this is probably the first time in his career Like they are the hunted they are they're gonna be Least in theory top three top four teams in the league probably top team in the East people are now coming for them So does that add any more pressure? Versus playing important where you know, like look they're gonna look at this successful no matter what we do You hunting a bunch of lions that has no cage. Good luck, like, it's not like you can go in there
Starting point is 00:59:51 and I'm about to stop you, we gonna double you. No, you gotta play them one on one. Good luck. It's lions and hyenas. Right, and that's- Hyenas gangsters. Mm-hmm. Lions over here.
Starting point is 01:00:05 Like, Dame is what? And he was number two in ISO points last year. Being an isolation player, he was number two in the NBA. You can come if you want to. You can come. I got boys now, too. Yeah, you come on. You ain't no double team no more.
Starting point is 01:00:23 Yeah. This is probably the first time in Milwaukee's, like, franchise history that all 82 games matter. Everybody's going to be, like, paying attention to it. Yeah, for sure. Like, this is the first time ever. Do they have a chance to go, like, 72? Break the record?
Starting point is 01:00:39 Like, break a record? They definitely got the, I mean, they got the talent. They got the talent. Because they are playing in the East. They definitely got the I mean they got the time you they got they got it They are playing in the East they they are playing these But I think the way the leaves they could definitely almost get to us. I mean they definitely went 60 this year It's like like they want six. No, no what I'm saying Well, it's the last year it's the easy so set 60 that's what I'm asking that this could marry. I mean, yeah. Yeah
Starting point is 01:01:01 The only thing the only thing that will stop them from doing it is a load management thing. If they try to load management and do all that, I know they put a rule in where you can't do both stars at the same time, but if they try to play that role where they're load managing, it would be hard, but for the most part, they are capable. They can run up. They could. You think they could be a 70 win team?
Starting point is 01:01:26 For sure. And that's sorry ass East. Like where's Phoenix going? There's gonna be some winning going on this year. There's gonna be some winning. You guys high on Phoenix? I'm saying just regular season. Regular season? Regular season wins. You guys high on Phoenix like that? For regular season wins? Think about regular season. Who plays defense really in just regular season. Regular season? Regular season wins. You guys high on Phoenix like that? For regular season wins?
Starting point is 01:01:46 Think about regular season. Who plays defense really in the regular season? Oh, that's what I'm looking at. You think Phoenix is better than Golden State right now? Yeah. Look how good they were last year, right? They had a hurt Chris Paul. That Chris Paul now is 6'5", that averaged 30 in his league.
Starting point is 01:02:06 Right? You have a bona fide other. I mean, listen, this is the first time we've watched him. He's seeing it. But that's what I'm saying. This is like you have Beal. You have Beal. You have a 6'5".
Starting point is 01:02:17 Like he can put everybody in a post. So you have basically your one-two punches, two bookers basically. Two guys who are midi and athletic It's gonna be like I don't I know everybody's like where they gonna play defense that where they gonna play who gonna where they gonna share The ball they gonna share the ball like that. It don't matter like you it's a threat Like when people say share the ball, I think so you gotta take Kevin Durant out of the equation you speak of that shit Okay, because he's so efficient. Okay, efficient now. now he's efficient now and I'm saying wait in his approach He's not a volume shooter like he was you know I'm saying tonight. He's taking
Starting point is 01:02:53 19 of them and he make fucking 13 of them is like Not about it's a little different now Then you you got to watch him try to go get this 37 because we need it Is it struggle now now the ball fine or the bitch going in I'm saying it's one to end pass in it Like don't play that shit. Come on. You know how I wanted endeavor. Well, it's look how easy it was Yeah, look how easy it like look how easy it is when you play with another guy like you Right, right, right right which means which means So if you have the ball Booker can be spotted you got I got two spot-up shooters mass three Oh, yeah, we can switch and I can be a spot-up shooter. So when we're playing one-on-one I'm not passing it to some dudes in the corner. I'm passing one of you another six another sniper
Starting point is 01:03:39 No, I mean, I'm I got another sniper sitting in the corner now So worst case scenario, you got a very... You got a long gun. Very athletic, you know, three-point shooter. Mid-range shooter. Like, you can sit there and play. Regular season wins. No, no, no.
Starting point is 01:03:56 Regular season. You know how regular season is. You know how many teams... They'll be top three for sure. B, you had, what, six, seven guys average 30 points last year. 30 or better. You had seven guys average 30 points or better last year. Man, they better than the Lakers.
Starting point is 01:04:14 Score? Yes. They better than the Lakers, the state, and Denver right now? They better than all three of those teams. We're talking about for regular season. Regular season. The way they finna score this ball. No, for sure they're going to score. I mean. That's what we think. That's what we're talking about.
Starting point is 01:04:28 We're talking about regular season. Okay, okay. When Golden State, when KD came, right, they said, he don't really play no defense like that. How they gonna share the ball? You said Golden State? When KD first came to Golden State, how they gonna share the ball? He do this, do do that and they seen it And nobody realized clay took the most shots Yeah, we're talking most shots on the team. Yeah, but we're talking about go to say we're talking about championship Mindset guys these aren't there's nobody on on Phoenix that has a championship mindset then besides Katie But so so like you can't kick wouldn't Katie in that situation, that's easy, that's a walk in the park. Because you're dealing with, you got leaders on the team,
Starting point is 01:05:08 you got Draymond, you got Steph Curry, you got all these guys that can, I mean Phoenix, I mean he got a basically like, come on, come on everybody. Like come on, get on this level. Can you play with Steph? Yeah. Why? Because you can do the same thing.
Starting point is 01:05:24 You compliment like, right, we're, we can both do the same thing. You compliment, like, right? We can both do the same thing, so I can take you off the ball, give it to you, you can do your thing, give it to me. Right? They got three guys who can, like, you got three guards. Like, when you got three guards. They all do the same thing. No, all do the same opposite of that. You don't, like, you don't need the ball in his hand to be a scorer.
Starting point is 01:05:43 He can be a spot-up shooter. Right? He can be a spot-up shooter. Same thing with Book be a score He can be a spot-up shooter Right. He can be a spot-up shooter same thing with Booker Booker can be a spot-up shooter So they can so it's just like go to say you can switch I can backdoor I can post you up I can cut I can flare we both do the same exact thing. So it's not like having two sinners, right? I mean need the ball on the block right like Brooke Lopez like Brooke Lopez compliments Right. Yeah honest. Mm-hmm, right because I can sit out here you can go in if you honest is out of the game What does Brooke Lopez do hit the block? I'm a pound, you know
Starting point is 01:06:16 You know, it's yeah, they gonna be regular season. Yeah, you're gonna be better than What they don't come out there might be a a few teams a NBA man. Stop doing this man Stop putting no no serious man. Y'all mess up ratings y'all I don't know who be in there thinking about ratings, but they don't know how to do ratings ratings is this Whoever I think is my best teams. They're gonna have a good start. I'm not gonna put Who was the first game? For the league? Yeah, you're playing something like that.
Starting point is 01:06:49 Golden State. Golden State versus Phoenix. Lakers versus what, Denver? Yeah. What? I got two top teams going to take a loss at the beginning of the season. That's dumb ratings. That is dumb ratings.
Starting point is 01:07:02 One of your teams that you got favorite has to take a L. No, if you want real ratings, you set the schedule up where they don't play each other until game 20. Now both of them might be sitting at 15 and 1, 15 and 0. Now when they match up, everybody's watching. I'm not going to give one of them a loss at the beginning of the season because you want this big impact We're gonna watch cuz we missed the shit and most of us don't like football anyway, I hate when they do that But yeah, we need something to overreact
Starting point is 01:07:35 That's how we still kill Against somebody Give them you a them, play against them Utahs and the motherfucking Houston and shit like that. Utah hate us right now. Give me a couple. They hate us.
Starting point is 01:07:51 What I'm saying is give them schedules that... Give me the cupcakes. Yeah, so like when I do see you, we're both priming versus the beginning of the season. No one's in shape, no one's...
Starting point is 01:08:05 Like, it's dumb. It's nasty basketball. Somebody always get blew out. Like, it's always like a blowout or something. It's dumb. Like, it's whoever's in shape fastest versus give us 15, 20 games to really get our shit dialed in.
Starting point is 01:08:17 Now I want to see you. Yeah. Like, I want to see you. Like, you know, if Denver takes a loss at the beginning of the season, like, everybody's like, oh, you know, like, just. But then we can just say that they're cooked, Gil. It can be an adverse effect.
Starting point is 01:08:29 So you lose one, then next thing you know, you lost another one. Now your first ten games, you motherfucking three and seven. You know what I mean? That when y'all mess up again, it's not important. Yeah, it's not important because y'all. Yeah, I get it. The only reason we watch boxing because, like, oh, they both 40 and 0. Someone has to take an L.
Starting point is 01:08:48 But they said it from the beginning. Like, oh, here we go. So, Kenya, as you mentioned, six players averaged 30 points per game or more last season. The Bucs have two. And Dame and Giannis. But the Celtics have one inside them. So let's talk a little bit about Boston. I know it's not your favorite subject, but we got to talk about it.
Starting point is 01:09:07 That's another city you got to smoke with, but it's not a big deal. Listen, I'm fair. I'm fair. I don't like really none of them. Like none of your niggas? Maybe you're trash, you're trash. I'm still not. If you booed me, I don't like your city.
Starting point is 01:09:21 That is just point blank. Did you ever go to a city they didn't boo you? Who are the nicest opposing fans? No one. They were all men? Yeah, because I was a star player coming in.
Starting point is 01:09:31 Okay. I'm pretty sure, you know, 58 million and some rings, I guarantee you didn't get booed. Anyway, I'm just saying, when you came in the game, it was just you coming
Starting point is 01:09:40 in the game. You're in season two. Nobody came in, ooh, ooh, ooh. Oh, that's all he's saying? Who you boo? Season two of Gills Arena. Who you boo?
Starting point is 01:09:48 The average is four. So, Selgers had a great offseason. Added Chris Stapps, Porzingis, and Drew Holiday to a roster that already has two all-NBA players in Jason Tatum and Jalen Brown, along with an all-defensive guard
Starting point is 01:10:00 in Derek White. But we got to ask, does the East run through Milwaukee or Boston now? Listen they both listen they both like They both got pieces that they they need right, you know you lost Your loss smart, which this is a better version right offensively
Starting point is 01:10:24 bigger which this is a better version, right? Offensively, bigger, can post up, right? Plays exactly. He can actually guard the bigger guard and not give up too much ground. Man. I like them giving up Robert Williams, though. What? Boston.
Starting point is 01:10:42 He need six-fold? No, yeah. Oh, no, the big dude. Big kid. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And Brogdon. And him. Nah, Brogdon could've...
Starting point is 01:10:50 Brogdon could've... He could've win anyway. Big fella. Yeah, yeah, yeah. He get after the offensive, extra possessions, he'll rim protect. That one, I was like, ah, that might. But... For the most part, I mean, everybody's...
Starting point is 01:11:04 Yeah, for the most part. Like mean, everybody's like the unicorn. Like, they get to really play their actual position. Right? You don't have Tatum playing the four, you know, or what's the name, playing the four. Like, we got hype back here, and we got athletic. Unicorn is athletic. You know, people don't realize he's athletic back there. Tatum's got to play a lot of four this year, though.
Starting point is 01:11:24 It's a matchup problem for the team. I'm just... It's not really... The way the roster's constructed right now. It's just like stuff like that.
Starting point is 01:11:32 He won't take them at the three. Go to the three. He won't take them at the three. You're a big three. Like, you're going to the four
Starting point is 01:11:38 for what? You want to guard Giannis and, you know... It's just dumb. Like, yo, you're a three, man. You're a big three. I got what's the name method to I get Some for that. I don't need right. I have a big lineup
Starting point is 01:11:52 But in theory you go you're gonna drew holiday Derek white Jalen Brown Tatum. How about this? So that's a little day white still starts why but I thought he was supposed to be the point before Like they say he's to start at the point. Yes or no? Drew. No, I'm saying before Drew was there, Derrick White was supposed to be the starting point guard.
Starting point is 01:12:11 But that's what I'm saying. They do these little lineups. Like, listen, when the unicorn is sitting there, float at the top, someone drive. Who's your shot blocker? Tatum don't jump and use his athleticism like that. Brown don't use his athleticism like that. So you don't have, they don't do what LeBron does he ain't coming trying to clean up nothing So anybody who drives to the lane, it's it's layup package
Starting point is 01:12:33 Right, and that's the problem when you do small ball You have no protection really back there and the guards these days is coming to the rim, too But you need to you need to be big and athletic Denver rim too. You need to be big and athletic. Denver, you're big and athletic. The reason that they were at the rim all the time is because there was nobody there to watch them. I think Boston going to fold. Huh? I think Boston going to fold. They'll fold just because of experience, not because of the talent. They have the talent, too, right?
Starting point is 01:13:06 It's who can outsmart who if they match up in the playoffs. And Brown, is he going to be there for Brown? Does he still? I mean, I know he signed the extension, right? But that's another question. What does the Celtics adding Drew Holiday mean for Jalen Brown's future in Boston? Because it seems like at this point... But they got beef or something?
Starting point is 01:13:27 No, I'm just saying. But if they want to strengthen up that roster, they don't got no big man depth. You got Porzingis and Al Horford basically as your bigs. I just told you the lineup. Okay, Gil. You got Drew at the one. I got it. Brown at the two.
Starting point is 01:13:41 Tatum at the three. Horford and great. Or Porzingis. Porzingis. I mean, I mean, uh... Bring Derrick White off the bench? The unicorn. Huh? Bring Derrick White off the bench?
Starting point is 01:13:50 He's a bench player! Gil, ask him! When they said he was gonna start, I was bothered by that as well. He's a solid NBA player, don't get me wrong. He's productive, but he's not a starting point guard in the NBA by any stretch of imagination. He has that option. That's not... That's not a bad five. But that's not a bad five point guard NBA stretch of a man that option The lineup is a bad But that's not a bad fight. That's on five you can't throw the only five you can't go out there
Starting point is 01:14:12 That's your five like you have a six eight six nine shooting guard a six Ten about 16 now six nine six. I mean right you that's your lineup like yeah, what's the problem? You start doing all this small shit. Now. You're small at the guard play. You're small at the forward play Then you come in you're gonna sub in you're gonna sell about unicorn put old-ass Horford in there The fuck is the difference from last year's? Horford ain't playing my five man. You got old and non-athletic. I'm good Stop Horford ain't playing my five man. You got old and non-athletic. I'm good Stop Any compliments with them guys compliments the rest of them, right?
Starting point is 01:14:52 Cuz he can he can he can stretch the floor and if I wish he gonna take you into pose to shoot that Turn that man. Yeah, you turn it The South is why I can't wait 70 games this season, as constructed. I don't think so. 70? Nah. I mean, you can't have two, three tees winning 70. No.
Starting point is 01:15:13 But not the way they set the schedule. If I was setting the schedule up. So we asked the chat. If I set the schedule up. We asked the chat if Milwaukee can win 70 games. 46% say yes, 54% said no. 54% lol. I mean you know when you're thinking about the concept of it that's a good that's that's that's good
Starting point is 01:15:31 yeah take that I mean a lot people believe yeah a lot of people believe so do you feel like the Celtics sacrificed too much to get poor Zingas and Drew what did they sacrifice? What you saying? They got rid of Marcus Smart? Smart, Brog and Time Lord. Bunch of firsts. Portland's funny for me. See you on that McCants. I'm asking...
Starting point is 01:15:51 I told you when you say something... Where's your mark at the end of it? We got a name for it now. Where's your mark at the end of it? Oh, okay, that's a question, Mario. It's a question. That was your opinion. It's not a statement.
Starting point is 01:15:59 Oh, okay. Okay, I understand. You know I don't give a fuck about Boston, Gil. Okay? I'm not really obligated to talk about this because they are a threat in the Eastern Conference. We're obligated. We're gonna go to the East Conference. We're obligated to talk about this because they are a threat in the Eastern Conference. We're obligated. We're going to call it.
Starting point is 01:16:10 We got a name for it now. McCants being McCants now. That's what we're going to call it. Now, they didn't give up really nothing, man. You didn't give up. You didn't give up nothing. You got two offensive. Unicorn, what did he average? 19 and 10 last year?
Starting point is 01:16:27 Yeah. Mm-hmm. Right? I mean, they got better to me. Yeah, I just think, like, the Robin Williams third dude, give him toughness and stuff that you need when playoff time comes, you know what I'm saying? He's been battling injuries, though. He has been injured, bro, but he used to fight back, and he's still productive when he out there.
Starting point is 01:16:41 Yeah, Porzingis averaged 23... 23, 8, and 3. God damn. 23, 8, and 3. Yeah, I mean. Right? That's what I'm saying. 50% from the field, like 39 from 3.
Starting point is 01:16:56 39 from a 3-2? Yeah. He can shoot that thing. That's why they bought this. And he sees you six attempts? And to your point, he's a great third option. Great third option. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:17:09 Ain't no pressure. Five out. Get the hoop. Five out. And they're going to love him in Boston for obvious reasons. Yeah, they put Drew in a good position, man. That's what I'm saying. You got put in a good position.
Starting point is 01:17:19 It's these trades. Like, there's not one team on the other end of a trade that can say, like, nah, we got screwed this year. Everybody really, everybody who traded this year, everybody can be like, yeah, we did all right. So let me ask you this. So you know how teams make trades and they get rid of the star guy like Portland did.
Starting point is 01:17:41 Portland got back some solid pieces, the bad fucking basketball players, man. Yeah. They fucking around and be like, the bad fucking basketball players, man. Like, if I'm going to be like an 8th seed or some shit or make the play, I'll be like, what? Then people will be like, damn, was Dame really, was he holding them back? You know, it's still like, you know what I'm saying? We're going to talk about that in a second, but just the last thing on these Celtics.
Starting point is 01:18:03 So Celtics media, they were talking earlier about Hakeem working with Giannis So Celtics media day, we talked earlier about Akeem working with Giannis. Celtics media day, Jason Tatum said he worked out with Paul Pierce for about four weeks this offseason. What are your thoughts on Paul Pierce mentoring and working with Tatum? But you said it, four weeks. Right?
Starting point is 01:18:19 And I'm pretty sure those four weeks was mostly learning how to duck in. Learning how to duck in, right? Learning how to duck in, learning how to use your body versus just, you know, like Paul Pierce was great at using his body and the lack of speed, right? His footwork. His body control. Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
Starting point is 01:18:39 So, you know, I can see, you know, because it's the same type of game, just one's more athletic and has a new school style. Just little details on scoring easier. Makes sense, but you can hear it's four weeks. Not coming up there talking about four days and taking pictures and shit. That goofy shit, man. That's that goofy shit.
Starting point is 01:19:00 Because if you're out for a week, you're not dragging that man in the dream three times a day. No. You're doing one workout. One workout. Hour and a half. If that. If that.
Starting point is 01:19:16 Did you ever go to big man camp, Pino? Yeah, yeah. I was a fucking rookie. Go to Hawaii, absolutely. Yeah, but you already know. Two hour, three hour workout. Yeah, you're done for the day. Yeah, you already know. Two hour, three hour workout. Yeah, you're done for the day. You got the whole day to do 50,000 for four weeks, I get it. Yeah, four weeks you're probably doing five days a week, the weekend off, go back home.
Starting point is 01:19:37 Wait, he paid it? Huh? He paid it? No. Probably not. Oh, okay. So that's 15 workouts compared to five. Compared to five. Compared to five. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 01:19:45 And that's if they're just working out one time. Right? Like, I know if you worked out with... Oh, shit, it's 20 workouts. I'm tripping. If Katie works you out, if Katie works you out... It's 20 versus five. Or if Kobe works you out, right,
Starting point is 01:19:58 you know you're going to be in minimum two times a day for them weeks. Yeah. Right? That's a big advantage versus, that's why when they go there, you take the pictures and you say this, you make it look easy.
Starting point is 01:20:15 You make people really believe that you went there and you learned some shit. That's the thing that fucking bothers me. Like knowing that if I want to learn my left hand pull up, it's going to take me four, five months for it to be part of my natural. And you talking about, yeah, I spent $50,000, went there for three days and I found, like, shut up. Stop doing that.
Starting point is 01:20:41 Imagine the way Lonzo Ball shot the ball, the way his mannerism was when he came out. He went somewhere and paid a shooting coach for a week. A week. What you think his shot was going to be? Hell no. He had to work the whole summer on re-correcting that. That's the same. Did you learn algebra?
Starting point is 01:21:03 Did you learn all the algebra in three days? If your ass say no, then $50,000 is too much for Motherfucker of the Week. Still didn't learn algebra, you know? I'm just... Yeah, but... The whole year, the whole year, this lady, for an hour, telling me about algebra. We sitting there like, yeah, five more minutes on this clock. Let's get the fuck out of here.
Starting point is 01:21:24 We didn't launch yet. We didn't launch yet. So now let's talk about the Blazers, K. Now the dust has settled. You got to give Blazers GM Joe Cronin some love for playing chestnut checkers with this whole situation. Blazers called Dane's bluff, executed the rare triple cross. So according to Chris Haynes, Dane was willing to come back to the Blazers
Starting point is 01:21:44 after the heat deal fell through, but Cronin wasn't with all that. So he sent Dame to Milwaukee, which essentially fucks the Heat. Then he traded Drew to the Celtics, which more or less fucks the Bucks and the Heat even more. So, thoughts on how the Blazers handled
Starting point is 01:22:00 that Dame situation? For them and Dame, it's perfect, right? I mean, I really don't think they had any intentions of Dame coming back. Right? I mean, when you looked at the team, the right one was on the wall, right?
Starting point is 01:22:17 So when he made it publicly, yeah, this is what I want, it was easy for them to make that decision. Cool. Because you saying you wanted to be here, the loyalty was handicapping us. Like, if we trade you, we look bad, right? So once you said, I want to be out,
Starting point is 01:22:36 good, it's like your chick trying to call you bluff. Yeah, don't call me ever again. Oh, that's what I was planning. I'm glad you said that. You know, block. And that's the same thing. Like. I'm glad you said that. You know, block. And that's the same thing. Like, as soon as he said it, they hit the block button on him. Boo. Cool. Now it looks like it's your fault, not ours. Like, you won out.
Starting point is 01:22:54 Yeah, like, you won out. Yeah, I'm with you. But for the most part, like, it's everybody win. Everybody win. Everybody win. Everybody win. Everybody win. Like, no one can sit there
Starting point is 01:23:05 and say, there's no fan base that say, we got it. Because now, you know, with the Blazers, you have youth all around the same age.
Starting point is 01:23:13 Graphics. Very great. Like, you have guys that's like, you know, that they are excited to play this season. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 01:23:24 You know, Aiden, you know, he's like, yeah, you know know finally I can be to go I'm the vet here Anthony Simon yeah man is my team now rookie you got Grant's Shady Sharpe school Jeremy Grin this is your a Jeremy speaking of Jeremy um your father still owe me money for gambling back in the Washington days. You know, I know I beat your future out of it, but you made it. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:23:51 His pension should be mine. That's all I'm saying. But if you don't give niggas some tickets, we good. I'll beat the hell, yeah. I was beating him so bad, he started calling himself horse. So, I mean, you look at the Dame situation,
Starting point is 01:24:09 played the Portland 11th season, seven-time All-NBA, extremely loyal to that franchise. You don't feel like there was any disrespect in the situation, not letting him go to the team he wanted to go to. But that's a good punishment.
Starting point is 01:24:21 Like, oh, we ain't going to send you to Miami, but we're going to send you to Yonatan. That's what I said. Man, Dame can't, I mean, listen. Miami sound Like, oh, we ain't going to send you to Miami, but we're going to send you to Yonatan. That's what I said. Man, damn, can't. I mean, listen. Miami sound cool, like, you know, because it's better than where you are.
Starting point is 01:24:31 Yeah. But this situation right here, I know he's like, I'm glad I didn't get traded. I'm glad they didn't listen to me. I'm glad they didn't listen to me, and they did it this way. Yeah. It's one of those things I can look back for like,
Starting point is 01:24:46 hey, man, hey, Blazers, man, y'all, good jam. I'm about to send y'all to Fruit Basket, man. The only thing about Portland, they're petty for sending Drew Holiday to Boston. That was a little bit petty. Extremely petty. That was on some, all right, yeah,
Starting point is 01:25:01 we're going to send you over here, but we're going to make sure you got a battle to get out the East. They were a little petty for that like I would mean like, you know, as Portland right I Would like drew to stay Right because I have young guys that need to learn how to be defensive players
Starting point is 01:25:26 Learn how to score understand how to be real professionals Right because the team is young so there's no one there's no one teaching. Well the head coach What important Teaching So you don't believe in on the the bus, strip club. You're going to teach them. No, I'm not talking about that. That's what I'm talking about. I'm talking about what they need. I'm talking about... Not that.
Starting point is 01:25:51 I'm talking about... We're talking about basketball, Gilbert. No, no, no. The basketball part. We're talking about basketball, Gilbert. No, no, what I'm saying is that part, but I'm saying as a veteran, that veteran that tells them how to be professionals.
Starting point is 01:26:03 Okay. They don't have it without them. Like, we don't listen to the coach like that like when we're so outside I just don't buy them outside inside the locker room understand how to be a professional You know that leadership like, you know, like in Memphis, right having someone like drew that can sit there and hey This is how we move boom boom. Boom. I would have kept him there just to teach my groom them on how to really be like a good human Cuz that's what drew is. He's a great human being. He's a great teammate, right? So, you know put that in them, you know, once I realize okay, they can take it from here. I really want to go drew Thank you. I appreciate you. Let's move on
Starting point is 01:26:37 I mean we talked about that and we both kind of agreed to be good to have drew around for a few months just to Again mentor school kind of get these guys ready But now it's also the other side of that. If he's not playing as much because you want to focus on these young guys, does that diminish his trade value? And are you able to pull off a deal like you did with the Celtics, being able to get Brogdon, Tom Lord, and then – Man, first team, all defense, who you are as a person goes a long way.
Starting point is 01:27:02 Man, that goes a long way. Like, people don't understand. Your numbers, when you're talking about getting money, your numbers, your work ethic, who you are as an individual. When you're talking
Starting point is 01:27:18 about, I'm on my last league, and someone says, man, all the things I've heard about you, man, you're about you man. You're good, dude You good with her. I'm going you know Jared Delly, come on, man. I keep the keep everybody hype, you know pay you go ahead pay you two three million That's that's the type person here. So, you know for Portland I would have loved me person if it was my team out of like I want him to groom my future then, you know
Starting point is 01:27:42 We get them on your way, but that's the selfish part, though. Yeah, for sure. UCLA dude, I respect him. But now let's take a look. Any valley dude right around the corner. You already San Fernando Valley? San Fernando Valley. We have good human beings, and I'm probably the only...
Starting point is 01:27:58 You have good human beings? You're the bad apple? I'm probably the bad apple out here. So, but this Dame-Blazer situation brings a larger conversation. Should teams take care of their legends at the end of their career? Guys been on the team for a number of years, been loyal, been through some bullshit, and you're now in that rebuilding phase and you know, look, it's time to move on. Do they have that obligation or, hey, you signed a deal?
Starting point is 01:28:25 It's who you are as a businessman, right? You know, it's your business, man. Like no one can tell you how to run it. You know, what are you going to stand on? Principal? You know, money? You know, it does matter for people who are watching. This is the true story.
Starting point is 01:28:48 USC was after me when I was in high school, right? Henry Bibby. No, literally. Sending me 50 letters a day. And I'm like, ah, that's the kind of dude I want to play for. I'm watching TV, and he's doing something, and he said that he didn't have a relationship with his son, right? You know, Mike Bibby. And I'm like, well, how can he be a father figure to me if he ain't a father figure to
Starting point is 01:29:11 his people? I don't want to go there. I told my dad, I'm good, right? Just that. I don't know what he was as a coach, but just him hearing it, right? And I'm like, well, how can he be a father figure to me if he's not a father figure to his son? You know, and that's the reason I didn't go there So, you know like this principles right like if I have someone who was great for me built this Empire
Starting point is 01:29:34 Right help me build put the value in my teeth. I'm I'm loyal to you like it was to me Hey today, they still send recruiting letters or is it like emails now, like DM? How do they still do that shit? They probably DM you. I'm curious. I'm really curious. They DM, they show up. They texting.
Starting point is 01:29:52 The next day they want you to come. But you know, Henry Bibby sending those 20, 30 letters a day was like, oh shit, these motherfuckers really- Yeah, letters meant something. Letters meant something. The handwritten- Yeah, now to your point is everybody not going to to get the Udonis-Hassel tree. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:30:09 The Dirk, yeah, you're right. Everybody ain't going to get that from their organization. You know what I'm saying? You took a pay cut, you did this, you did this year, and you're out for the betterment of the team. We're going to keep you around to be that guy, but we're going to pay you just to stay in shape. You know what I'm saying? Pay you just but we're going to pay you just to stay in shape. Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 01:30:25 You know what I'm saying? Pay you just to stay in shape. Pay you just to stay in shape. Like, that's what his situation was, basically. And everybody not going to get that. What players do you guys feel certain teams should take care of? It ain't, it ain't, it ain't... Ain't nobody staying no where that long to be taken care of.
Starting point is 01:30:40 But it ain't the player, too. It's really just the, it really just the it's the relationship like I say this as as players Move out the middleman have a relationship with the actual person who owns this team this team Right, you know, they nerds nobody know them right they want to be they want to feel like you know, they You know, they're there them, right? They want to feel like they feel some love. So I'm going to have the conversation with the man who writes the check, right? The guy who's sitting there looking at numbers, cool, I'm going past you. I'm going to go to him, have this conversation. Hey, how's you doing? How's your family? So I look like a human being to him versus me and that's that's how i got my contract when my i had
Starting point is 01:31:26 two knee surgeries three and 14 months and i had such a great relationship with mr a poli as you rest in peace when it was negotiation time he didn't want to hear nothing he was talking about well you know we don't think you know the doctors say he ain't gonna be the same you know that's my guy and whatever he won't he gonna get like his job is secure more than yours So you keep talking like that, right? You can you can beat it right now. Remember I got the call. He said hey It's crazy talk what they're talking, right? I heard they offered you 80 million, right? The max is yours you do it how you please have a safe trip. See you when you get back. It's tough. Thanks That's right. They offered me 80 and I was a man 80 around my max is like 127
Starting point is 01:32:09 I got a call in the morning you want to fight it like he was because that the max is yours Do with it how you please see you when you get back You but that's talking like that's the relationship with the guy who make like you you need to have the relationship so he He knows you have the best interest like, you know, he can cut him is a yeah, how's the locker room? Y'all need anything? Yeah, we need a chef Yeah, okay. I mean he like TVs in a locker Right, you know I mean like he was really you have to have that conversation You have to let the owner know that you have an interest in being here long term.
Starting point is 01:32:45 I'm not sitting here talking with the general manager all day. But the owner has to be receptive to it and be around for you to have those conversations. And not just show up on game day and come impose his will on everybody. Like make everybody change their daily routine because you want somebody to come like cater to, you know what I'm saying? It's a difference. And then you being involved and being able to have those conversations and be those intimate moments outside of the game, you know what I'm saying? Not every owner is that receptive to it, you know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 01:33:18 Or available, you know what I'm saying? They got phones. Tom Gores is like. Yeah, they do, but still. No, but being able to, this is more, you know what I'm saying? They got phones. Tom Gores is like. Yeah, they do, but still. No, but call him. But being able to, this is more, you know what I'm saying? I can look at you. You can see the sincerity in my eyes and hear it in my voice, the weather to me talking to you on the phone.
Starting point is 01:33:34 You know what I'm saying? Yeah, I can pick the phone up and call you. How you doing? I call my fucker. Hey, you write a check. I'm calling you every day. You're going to have to block me. My contract coming up?
Starting point is 01:33:44 Shit. You know what's cool? What's the name like that, too, is cool? The Detroit Pistons owner, Tom Gores. He was like that, too. Like, I got a chance to,
Starting point is 01:33:54 I remember when I tore my, if I hadn't tore my Achilles, he definitely would have gave me the open book, just like that. He used to take us out to Nobu, take us to his house. Like, he,
Starting point is 01:34:03 I remember we was around the table one time, and he was, he asked us to pray over our food. Like, take us to his house. I remember we was around the table one time, and he asked us to pray over our food. Just different things that we don't... I've never seen an owner actually be on, asking people what they do for a living, like, why are you around me? Just different things.
Starting point is 01:34:16 It was dope, though. I had a scores for school program. This is probably the only owner that ever has done it. I was doing scores for school, where This is probably the only owner that ever has done it. I was doing scores for school where every point I score, I donate $100 to that school that got picked. He liked the idea so much that I did the home games. He matched and did the road games. So both of us spent about in just community service, about $ community service, about like $200,000, you know, each. You know, both years, he said, if you're doing it, I'm doing it.
Starting point is 01:34:48 Let's go. What you need, man? All right. You know, but that's, you know, like if I own a team, I want to have the relationship. I want you to be able to. Yeah, yeah. Like I hired you to, you know, to do your job, but, you know.
Starting point is 01:35:02 But I'm still involved. If the star player wanted to come, I want the relationship with the star player. Yeah. Like, is he doing his job? Yeah, that's the thing, like, you know, like I, you've been in situations like that where I've been in, on teams where
Starting point is 01:35:18 it was, it was just a hobby for him, you know what I'm saying? Where it really didn't matter. Yeah. Like, we in Denver, like, we never saw a dude It was just a hobby for him, you know what I'm saying? Where it really didn't matter. Right. We're in Denver, like, we never saw a dude until game day, basically. Or come interrupt guys' pregame routine because you need somebody to go walk your dog. And now they got to take the guy that's supposed to stretch me to go walk the dog when it's my... It's like...
Starting point is 01:35:42 Like, what the hell am I mad at? Oh, he walking a cranky dog. Now I'm the bad guy because I'm losing my shit in here because it's time for me to get stretched, but he walking on his dog. You know what I'm saying? Like, but yeah, that's, but it's like, but to your point, like, yeah, like, but for you to have that, him to understand what's important. Like the relationship with a star guy is important. So no, that's, that's dope.
Starting point is 01:36:15 Like I like the Mark Cubans and the Polans and the Bombers of the, you know what I'm saying? Bomber be hype. Yeah, Bomber be hype. He be hype, man. Yeah, he into it. I love that, man. I love that. I love that. Be over there, beat red.
Starting point is 01:36:28 Nigga, the game on the line, be over there, beat red. Yeah, he be hype. He ready to put my shoes at. He can go out there and play six on five. I got him. I'm going to double team somebody. That's what I'm saying. Think about it.
Starting point is 01:36:40 You a sacrifice for a dude like that because you know he's into it. He's invested into the game itself. He takes pride into it. He's not a guy who's just sitting there. This is a write-off. Yeah, people can say what they want to about Mark Cuban. Yeah, whatever. Say what they want to.
Starting point is 01:36:58 Want to play for them, son. People should want it. If all the markets had the same value Right the shoe contracts match the same and there was no Luxury tax and all that crap. It'd be hard to outbid Mark Cuban Mm-hmm. It'd be hard like he cuz he's trying to win. He's trying to win. He is sit there 100 million Let's go. Let's come on. Bring them all we'll make it work Got all you want a jet you want a jet you want to tell us go? Sit there, 100 million, 100 million, 100 million. Let's go. Let's come on. Bring them all. We'll make it work. Got your own. You want a jet?
Starting point is 01:37:25 You want a jet? You want a jet? Let's go. Let's go. Everybody got a jet. Everybody got a jet. Let's go. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 01:37:31 Just the type of person he is. It'd be hard to beat his pitch. That's true. Let's go back to the Blazers real quick and something you said earlier. The fuck you want to talk about the Blazers all the time? Because he said something earlier. Oh, you keep talking about that sorry ass to you. Like, now I'm getting disrespectful.
Starting point is 01:37:45 But let's talk about what you were talking about earlier now with them replacing Dame. So the Blazers flip Dame, Nurk, Nasir Little, and Keyon Johnson for what turned out to be DeAndre Ayton, Robert Williams, Malcolm Brogdon, Kamara. 2024 Warriors first as top four protected in 24, top one protected in 25. 2029 Celtics first as unprotected, 2029 Bucks versus unprotected,
Starting point is 01:38:07 and pick swaps with the Bucks in 2028 and 2030, which down the road, if, you know, we're talking about the Bucks right now, but that team, you know, it's potential could be a boo-boo, and those picks can be very valuable. Yeah, 2029? Yeah. Yeah, 2028, 2029. And Golden State is when? Golden State's 2024, 2024 so but top four protected In the 2029 Celtics to stick at the first round pick But also pick swaps in 28 and 30 with the Bucks to what does that mean? What's the in pick swaps? So if you got the fourth pick and I got the 19th pick we can swap So, you only works.
Starting point is 01:38:45 So basically, they're not, they're not swapping shit because they're not going to want that 30th pick. Yeah, it only works, yeah.
Starting point is 01:38:52 Swap is only effective if that, you know, if that squad is more trash than you. But how would you grade the Dame trade for the Blazers
Starting point is 01:38:58 and what's your outlook for this team for the future? I like their young piece. I like what they have. They're going to compete. Like, I'm a big believer in Big Shot though.
Starting point is 01:39:06 I'm a Chauncey Billups guy. Can't nobody say nothing bad to me about Big Shot. Let's get that shit started. So I'm a firm believer in him and what he gonna do. I know the basketball mind of Chauncey and what he gonna implement for them guys and how they gonna compete. You know what I'm saying? So, and what they got back. I like it What to what win total? I don't know They gonna compete they gonna be better. They was last year And moving forward with all the things moving part. There's potential to be something great for him
Starting point is 01:39:40 But I just think they gonna compete this year Got a couple guys something to prove like DeAndre Aydin, Malcolm Brogdon is still a solid pro You know I'm saying you got Anthony Simon still you got the sharp kid you got Jeremy Grant they got pieces man like they not a Yeah, they got pieces man like they got young guys who they can lean on young I like it Yes, like with Big Shot. It's like he he has three years before we even consider evaluating what he can do so three years from now or three years from now then from there it's like all right let's see what you can do I'm not judging him these first three years right it's
Starting point is 01:40:20 unfair right it's one of those things where it's unfair but he has a young team he has to instill his mental into that that's going to at least take a year year and a half before they really buy into what he's trying to do right and then once they get it then these guys get got to get a little older they got to get some miles under their leg before they can understand how to play this game so when you're dealing with a young Everybody's looking at the team and looking at the coach like where's the wins like my? My wins is gonna come in a couple years when they actually can use what I'm teaching And he still has help within the guys in the locker room deal with Anthony
Starting point is 01:41:06 Jeremy Grant played for him before and those guys you still have a in that regard. And you got a pro in Malcolm Brogdon, you know what I'm saying? Like, going to always be available, show up, do the right thing, lead. You know what I'm saying? You got that. And a pick that you could potentially flip it, bro. Yeah, yeah. I'm not like, as an owner, I'm not evaluating them. Like, hey, you safe?
Starting point is 01:41:20 Just do you. Versus that, oh, y'all won 16 games this year, 17. Like, no, no, no. That's not how this works. Is the players getting better? These don't lie. Yeah, yeah. Are the players playing hard?
Starting point is 01:41:34 Are they getting better? What does it look like is going to turn over? Like, I don't want to, you know, that Mark Jackson situation, right, where, you know, he's grooming these players and then someone comes in and benefits and his legacy is built on someone else's foundation yeah right you know it's like let him build his foundation if we can see what's gonna let him let him get that chance to really you know see how the house looks elvis move is that elvis stealing people's? I like the way they move them hips. I'm about to get a crack in. But Dane made it clear he wanted to go to the Heat. And we got to talk a little bit about Miami because they're probably the biggest loser in all this situation.
Starting point is 01:42:13 According to reports, he thought they had all the leverage but never offered enough to get Dane. So is Miami the laughingstock of this free agency period? Yeah. Yeah. I mean, the. I mean, the guy said this is where he wants to go. Well, not really because it happens, like when someone says you want to go
Starting point is 01:42:34 there, it actually gives the leverage to the team that has it. Like he wants to go there and now you got to really give me what I want. So it kind of, him expressing that he wanted to go there now. You got to really give me what I want Right, so it kind of at him expressing that he want to go to kind of put you know, Miami at a disadvantage Absolutely, and I don't think Miami understood that you needed collateral you needed pieces and you let some of your pieces go So yeah, so now when I look at your roster, I'm like like mmm ain't got nothing. I only see Bam or Jimmy.
Starting point is 01:43:06 Just give me Bam or Jimmy. Bam, we can talk. I'm pretty sure they probably, because of the young guys, they probably didn't want any one of them. I'll probably take with my team, I'll probably take Bam. I'll take Bam.
Starting point is 01:43:21 Jimmy and Dame can have fun together. I'll take Bam with the way my roster looks. So let's talk a little bit about Jimmy Butler again. He was in emo phase today at Heat Media Day. But when they asked him about the Dame situation, he was standing on business. He had this to say. But I am happy for Dame to be somewhere where, you know, he's wanted,
Starting point is 01:43:45 where he has a chance to win a championship. I'm also happy for Adrian Griffin because to be a first year head coach and have some guys like you have, good for you. But I'm still gonna be me. I'm gonna go beat Dane, Giannis and Adrian Griffin on our way to a title. Jimmy Buckets. He's on that McKins.
Starting point is 01:44:14 Facts or cap? Is that facts or cap? He's on that McKins, man. I told you we got a name for that delusional shit now. Like, I'm sorry. Like, on the way to a title with what? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:44:27 I mean, I'm just too competitive to be, like, happy for somebody else where they go in the league when they can have a chance to win. Like, I'm just... Especially if they're supposed to come with you, right? Yeah, it's like,
Starting point is 01:44:39 it's kind of like, I mean, I'm not, like, congrats, all right, go ahead. And we can't do it as players man And you know kind of makes us look bad, right? Press conference in reality you want to say there's some bullshit Yes, like I went to the championship last year and these motherfuckers I came back with we can get not one new soul We lost somebody right are? Y'all going to say this is a disappointment to me
Starting point is 01:45:07 if I can't take them back to the championship while everybody's healthy and getting better, right? That's what you want to say, right? That's what you want to say, like, because that's the truth. I understand. Right? You know, we went to the championship. I took this team to the championship.
Starting point is 01:45:21 Now y'all going to be judging me if we eighth seed or don't make the playoffs and feel like I did something wrong when everybody got better and you ain't bring me nothing. And if he go up there and say that, you're a bad teammate. You're a bad teammate.
Starting point is 01:45:36 I heard Jimmy go again. Yeah, you know, he's throwing everybody under the bus because y'all don't want to see it. Like, the reporters in Miami, hey, I know you can't see it, but y'all didn't do shit, huh? We shouldn't expect shit from this group. Do you care to elaborate? Unless you see it.
Starting point is 01:45:58 We shouldn't expect nothing, huh? This is going to be a quick season. Your words, not mine. Start shipping shit in April. I know he was just joking, but what are y'all thoughts? Jimmy dropped that video after the trade was announced saying the buck should be looked at for tampering. It's all tampering because it's player tampering. You work out in the summer. You talk to each other.
Starting point is 01:46:27 Like, that's how the game is being played. Like, you have friendship that's on other teams. And y'all really be behind the scenes trying to figure out how to, you know, let's team up. Mm-hmm. Right? Some of the best trades never happened. Some of the best trades in NBA is just trades that didn't happen because the ownership didn't see what the players were seeing.
Starting point is 01:46:49 So let's talk a little bit more about this Heat. After the Dame deal went down, Heat fans were in their feelings, let's just say. Some of them were lashing out at Pat Riley using terminology like he's a Dwyane Wade merchant. Still living off that hype. You know, hasn't really been able to come through
Starting point is 01:47:07 and bring some big names to get this franchise to where they believe it should be. So how much is Pat Riley to blame for the Heat not putting together a good enough package for Dame? I'll go. Man, listen, ain't nobody signing up for that shit, man. It take a special person to go deal with that, man.
Starting point is 01:47:27 I'm just saying. It take a special person to go deal with that. Every day. The heat culture. The heat culture. It take a special person, dog. It takes a bunch of players. It takes a bunch of players that are just grateful to be Drafted or picked. That's what it was a G League team last year
Starting point is 01:47:49 Right, you know, it's like when you're trying to make it into the NBA and you looking for that last chance like I listen He y'all can get the white how because he trying to get back in the NBA so that that type of culture He's gonna go for but a star player who's been in, like, they've seen what it is. Like, you're not going to get KD. You're not going to convince KD to come there and go through. Like, I'm a professional already. You're trying to break me not to go to South Beach. That ain't me.
Starting point is 01:48:19 Bradley Beal. Yeah, Bradley Beal. You're not going to break, like. But, I mean, in recent LeBron, I'm just saying, like, they've done it before. So what's the stop? He was a workaholic. But I'm just... Like, it fit.
Starting point is 01:48:30 LeBron is a different... LeBron, like... So he's just a different Beal. Like, it take a special... Like, though... Played 15 years, bro. Playing on some good teams. We had a lot of personnel, a lot of guys that worked their ass off,
Starting point is 01:48:46 a lot of guys that, like, stayed in the gym. I couldn't imagine, man, telling guys, like, you got to do body fat and shit a couple days a week. Like, I just couldn't, like, you got to be in this kind of shape. If your body fat ain't this, you can't play. Like, I just, you got conditioning tests and shit doing the seat. Like, shit like that. I just couldn't imagine doing that shit as an 11-, 12-year vet. You know what I'm saying? I just you got a you got conditioning test shit doing the seat like shit like that I just couldn't imagine doing that shit as an 11 12 year vet. I'm saying I just couldn't like I'm gonna show up
Starting point is 01:49:10 I'm gonna do my job. I'm gonna work my ass off. I'm gonna work on my craft. I'm gonna do my job All this extra fucking cardio and Just for what? You know what I'm saying? And guys that's got a name for themselves, that's done something in this league, they're not going for that. They're not the average person. You know what I'm saying? Like LeBron knew it was already,
Starting point is 01:49:33 and he wanted that. You know what I'm saying? He was looking for something else. He was already that kind of a worker, you know what I'm saying, before he got there. So he was looking for something more. Not everybody is looking for that.
Starting point is 01:49:45 How can you convince these guys like this? So to say Pat Rod is blamed, I think he culturally is to blame. Pat Rod is the head of it. When he was coaching Magic,
Starting point is 01:50:02 the Marines they won was Magic, it wasn't Pat. They'd be there, Magic's like, hey, hey, we're not doing it over, we already showed time, right? You sit down in a suit with your little slick head, we'll take care of this and you get all the credit. Right? But you know, like when you're going to Pat, like he's going to challenge the star of the star because of everything he's done done. Right? So, like, if you're trying to really, like, you as a person has to say, like,
Starting point is 01:50:31 if I'm James Harden and I really want to take that next step, that's a place I'll go for, like, a year or so just to see what it is. Okay. But if I don't have to, no. No. Pat Riley created it. I don't know to, no. Pat Riley created it. I don't know who he learned it from. One of the worst conditioning basketball drills known to man.
Starting point is 01:50:55 Byron Scott, we did this shit my rookie year. Because Byron got it from him. It's called Easy Run. I'm watching the clip Mo Williams had his boys doing that shit. I FaceTimed Mo Williams like, yo, you got them boys doing easy runs? He's like, yeah, he said, yeah, B. Scott had us doing that. One of the worst drills ever, dog. What is the drill?
Starting point is 01:51:13 What's that, yeah? You line a free throw line. How easy? Nothing easy about it. You line a free throw line extended, two lines. And you put time on the clock, however much time he deemed for this particular day. And hands here. You run.
Starting point is 01:51:30 Forward. You get to the baseline. You slide. Back pedal. Slide. Run. Slide. Back pedal.
Starting point is 01:51:38 Run. Slide. And you do this shit for however much time. 20 minutes, 30. We did that shit for 25 minutes, my rookie. I know that, bro. It's the worst thing fucking. Running with your hands up, sliding,
Starting point is 01:51:50 running with your hands back, sliding. You got to keep your hands up the whole time. I'm good. So could you imagine running backwards for 15 minutes? That's what it is. That's what it is. You're running backwards half the time. So my second year, I learned,
Starting point is 01:52:02 I slid my motherfucking feet. I ain't running backwards. I was sliding, bitch. You're bitch like no, I'm not picking these things up off the ground No, I learned from you one man like no this is impossible Yeah, training camp was done from that play the holes in the pass. Did you guys have the word knee pads? No, that's that's that's that was late We had to do this. That's the end. Yeah, the knee pads,
Starting point is 01:52:27 the tape shooter, the tape shooter. But that's what I'm saying, the players today, they are very, they are very lucky because, they break.
Starting point is 01:52:35 Like, even, you still had unlimited training camp hours. Absolutely. Because when I, like,
Starting point is 01:52:41 because I did too. When I first came in, when I got to Washington, that's when we agreed, like like max is three hours. Mm-hmm. So half Have now have now have later So what people started doing was they got so mad some of those coaches like, you know Pat Riley and them and those like we're gonna condition you they're condition you for the whole hour 30 minutes You sitting there doing that drill a whole hour, 30 minutes,
Starting point is 01:53:07 just lying, just lying, drilling out the drop. Like, they were trying to break you. Yeah, yeah. Like, you can make me run as long as you want. You ain't going to make me run as hard as you want. You can't do that. Hour and a half, I get to leave no matter what we do. In the words of Chauncey Billups,
Starting point is 01:53:21 listen, you can work me as long as you want, but not hard as you want. I'm about to say, my first shot was Scott Scouse. Scott Scouse? Scott Scouse. That's when we had two-a-days and then, or you had the one
Starting point is 01:53:34 three-hour. Just the one three-hour or the two-a-days. Those, different. Different. Different training. What did you prefer? The two-a-days
Starting point is 01:53:42 or the three-hour shot? Just the one three-hour. Yeah, just the one three-hour. I was used to that. We did you prefer, the two-a-days or the three-hour shot? Just the one-three-hour. Yeah, just the one-three-hour. I was used to that. We did that in college. We'd be three hours a day in college. Because hours, you go, you get rest, you sleep, and then by the time you doze off and get back,
Starting point is 01:53:57 first bus, you're like, all right. Damn. You want to get it over with. That's the hardest part. When people say, man, training camp, it's only because of how they break it up. You look like they're not used to get that now man. You own day three or four That second practice need the other long go off and you later. Just look at the ceiling. Yeah at training camp Yeah, you have you be at training camp all day do this right now, man
Starting point is 01:54:21 My fucking everything hurting their souls. Oh, yeah, I'm hurting. The soles of your feet hurting like the mother. You just burning. You like... Calluses. Oh, man. Yeah, that's what you... That calluses, man. I used to be like...
Starting point is 01:54:32 Yo, feet on fire. Then you learn, boys. You learn early. Hey, man, tell me your back hurting. Yep. Oh, shoot, my what? Man, man, my back tight today. My back tight?
Starting point is 01:54:43 Yeah, yeah, yeah. But you... Hey, hey, hey. Come on, man. back tight today. My back tight, yeah, yeah. Hey, hey, hey. Come on, man. Stop that bullshit, man. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Everybody else know, like, wink, wink, wink. I see y'all in the morning, man. Like, I made a deal with our coach, Eddie, right?
Starting point is 01:54:58 Because training camp coming, and he already said we're going to do four sets of tens, right? Just to start practice. And I'm like, oh, man. And I got there in September. I was like, yo, coach, how about this? Listen. If we come in in shape, can we not do conditioning and we can work on our offense? We can work on our skill.
Starting point is 01:55:24 He said, if y'all come in shape, like all y'all in shape all of us everybody? deal Hey get get in town get in town get in town right figure They'll will play ourselves in the shape run the beat will run in the bleachers doing all that So by the time we got there month of everybody You know actually working out with each other, when they started doing the body fat, everybody looked great. Practice started.
Starting point is 01:55:49 All right, shooting. Everybody going to be shooting. Everybody going to do it. And we just did nothing but offense. Because the offense is so hard. Especially if you got a bunch of young dummies right here. You know what I mean? We had the same offense.
Starting point is 01:55:59 Absolutely. You know, so it's like I want to, you know to put in some of these plays so we can really understand it instead of sitting there an hour and a half and we sitting there doing conditioning drills. Makes it more useful in time. Like I'm doing too much running on the beach and getting in shape and I'm coming in training camp 2-0-5, right, and then you talking about get on the line. Man, you got me fucked up. Like, I understand what we're doing,
Starting point is 01:56:27 but why do I work my heart, why do I work so hard this summer if I'm being punished with this bullshit? Like, nah, I'll sit on the side. That was my, that's what I did in rookie transition camp anyway. A little treadmill test. Dude, you don't get here 18 minutes.
Starting point is 01:56:44 For what? What is this going to teach? This game, like, we're going to sit here, you know, see if I'm in shape in June. But the season starts in November. Yeah, you got me. Y'all stupid. Shit don't mean nothing. Because if I'm in shape now, don't make me in shape then.
Starting point is 01:57:02 If I'm not in shape now. I mean, I'm not going to be in shape. I mean, you know what I mean? It just makes it make sense. Like, there's just things that just don't make me in shape then if i'm not in shape now i mean i'm not gonna be in shape yeah i mean you know i mean it just make it make sense yeah like there's just things that just don't make sense yeah and that was one of them oh yeah he can be in shape all he wants when his ass cross over i can tell you that let's do these ones let me see who's a one-on-one player so basically you're saying if you show up in shape the culture should take it easier on you with all the bullshit Have you dedicated your summer to really change your body and get in shape and be a professional? Why am I punishing you in doing all this like there's some guys I can look and say I you need more cardio
Starting point is 01:57:38 So we're gonna focus on you getting cardio. Are you focus on this this this this I'm not gonna sit here and just Everybody that's run up and down and do all that All right, you focus on this, this, this, this. I'm not going to sit here and just everybody just run up and down and do all that. You know, it just makes no sense. If half my team is in shape, then the other half, y'all going to be getting in shape and sorry, but they're going to be working the offense and unfortunately, you're going to be at least a week behind because... And that was the thing about the team, right? If you not in shape in training camp, you're spending more time doing cardio versus learning the plays.
Starting point is 01:58:08 And if you ain't learning the plays in training camp, when the season starts, you're fucked. Good luck with playing time. All right, so some of y'all favorite players, they was fucking around in training camp. Well, unless you had a special skill set. Yeah, unless you had. That guy.
Starting point is 01:58:24 That guy that show up day one that ain't did nothing all summer. And that's what most people, that's what most players did, right? They didn't do nothing all summer. The older players. The older players, and then they used training camp, because it's a month, to get in shape. Yeah, so I would get the dinner. Like, make that motherfucker run.
Starting point is 01:58:41 I did stuff during the summer, but I was always dealing with fucking something. Injuries, something, trying to get healthy. So my real, real getting this shit, I did stuff throughout the summer, but I wasn't killing myself during the summer. I'd go back, because I played in Denver for the long, but I could just reference Denver. I would get to Denver right after Labor Day.
Starting point is 01:59:01 Is it right after September? Yeah, right after Labor Day, and I'd use the rest of September. Like, right after Labor Day, and I used the rest of September. Like, I stopped drinking, spent everything right after Labor Day, and I just get out there. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 01:59:15 So by the time training camp started, like, I'm... How crackin' was Labor Day? Oh, Labor Day was always a festivity. Oh, Labor Day was always that. Listen, oh, at last, hoorah, we gonna always that. Listen, oh, last hurrah, we're going to do everything.
Starting point is 01:59:27 Listen. Now you know the NBA smoker, right? Because you know that it takes 30 days to get out of your system. So they're like, yeah, you know, Labor Day first. That was the last time I touched you. Because them 30 days it takes to get out of your system. I'm sweating it out. I'm drinking supplements.
Starting point is 01:59:44 I'm doing everything. Because they ain't never come on day one of training camp. But just in case they did. Motherfucker, I know you. I know you, motherfucker. Listen, you ain't going to get me like that. Banana in a tailpipe. I'm ready.
Starting point is 02:00:05 So we asked the chat, does the East run through Milwaukee or Boston? 67% said Milwaukee. 33% said Boston. But now we're going to keep it pushing. And we weren't going to talk Sixers today, but as we tend to do, y'all niggas is long-winded.
Starting point is 02:00:18 We will save that for tomorrow. We're going to talk some Lakers tomorrow, too. We didn't talk Lakers at all today. For what? What? For what? They ain't did nothing. For the people. What? What people? The Lakers didn't talk Lakers at all today. For what? What? For what? They ain't did nothing. For the people. What?
Starting point is 02:00:26 What people? The Lakers didn't do nothing? No, you got the champs played in West. The Lakers didn't do nothing? Champs played in West. Yep. OK. What they do?
Starting point is 02:00:39 Who? The champs. None. What the Nuggets do? None. All right, we're going. They lost them. They lost them.
Starting point is 02:00:44 Man, you acting like we got we got Dane. We signed back on We got white day Boston Reeves Some feeble we made some FIBA team-like picks. We got World Cup members. Yeah, we got some World Cup type of picks. 27 plays, whatever it is. You know, hey, I know you don't start on your team, but you can wear the USA jersey. We got a bunch of those on the team. That's a hell of a thing to think. Where you don't play on your own team, but you can make the USA team.
Starting point is 02:01:29 Oh, shit. What? Oh, my God. I wish I was playing today, man. Oh, my God. I have seven, eight points. I can make a USA team represent our country. What?
Starting point is 02:01:41 No criteria no more. You got to let it go. We got a wonderful coach, Kay in Vegas. No, I'm just saying, no criteria at all. You got to let it go or we got to put up with Coach K in Vegas. No, I'm just saying no criteria at all. Yeah, that's true. That's funny. We got a lot more
Starting point is 02:01:51 to get into but now it's time for our last segment of the day. Mostly fans. We ask the people for good questions. Larry Brown started
Starting point is 02:01:58 that shit FYI. Larry Brown started that shit at 2000 team. First question is from underdog user BigShep62 said if you could take out one in-game NBA rule,
Starting point is 02:02:14 what rule would you take out and why? One in-game? I'll say the replay. No replay? It's your call. Make it. Right? That's your job.
Starting point is 02:02:32 Like, make your call if that's how you called it or you didn't call it. Listen, I don't want you to second guess. Nah, there's been some decisions in some of these games where they need to be looked at, Gil. Yeah. You know what I'm saying? But, you know, they don't look at it on what we see. Let's say, like, I went out of bounds and you fouled. And then, like, I went out of bounds and then you fouled me, right?
Starting point is 02:02:57 And I'm putting up a shot. They're not looking at was it out of bounds. Yeah. That actually is irrelevant. They want to see if he was shooting on the way up. They're not looking at the play from the beginning like, okay, he was out of bounds. All right, it's actually out of bounds first.
Starting point is 02:03:13 They're looking at do their call stand, which was, was it a shooting foul or was it a blocking foul? So the replay is not... Yeah, but it's reusing totality. Yeah, they're not using it how it's supposed to be. It's like the NFL. Yeah. NFL looking at the totality of the play when they're reviewing and seeing was his foot out of bounds before he got hit, did all that matter?
Starting point is 02:03:35 Yeah, yeah. Totality. That's how they should do it. Look at the whole scenario versus just the call that I actually made. That's the only. I think for me, man, I just saw it. They was doing it in Spain.
Starting point is 02:03:52 Like how they, like the out of bounds, like how they kept it going. You don't have to give the ref the ball. Yeah, yeah. Don't give the ref the ball? Yeah. You can just take it out. Yeah, just take it out.
Starting point is 02:04:01 So I guess the guy just took it out and just like, just tossed it up. So just to make the game faster, I think I would do that. That's legendary. I think they implemented this year, I think, if I'm not mistaken. Or when you challenge, when you call, you think it's a bad call, and you don't get another challenge for the rest of the game. I think that was a different thing. You get multiple.
Starting point is 02:04:22 If you win, you make a bad call, and I say use. You can be able to keep it. Yeah. Fuck, I'm being punished for it. You should get multiple. If you win, you make a bad call, and I say you was... You can be able to keep it. Yeah, you was... Fuck, I'm being punished for it. Yeah. Because I used it and I was right. Yeah. Like...
Starting point is 02:04:32 Yeah. Shit, shit, really, I was right, you was wrong. Yeah, yeah. I should get another one. Yeah, for real. And if you make another bad one and I challenge, I should get another one. Because you... You only lose it, you only lose it if you wrong.
Starting point is 02:04:43 Yeah, if you wrong. They should have a three strikes route so you can do three challenges and you can get them right. That ref got to retire. Get the fuck out of here, Eric Lewis. Or he can get kicked out that game. This should be implemented that if the ref is doing
Starting point is 02:04:59 a bad job, I should be able to look like I gave him a penalty and the other coach gave him a penalty. Get his ass on. Because they got an alternate up here. They do. They got an alternate in the stands. Y'all both agree? Yeah. Don't think about it. He called us some bullshit in the first half and I, you, flag. You get another
Starting point is 02:05:16 technical, you out the game. I should be able to give a ref a technical for the things he's doing. If I feel he's not doing what's right, I get to throw my flag. I get one a game. I throw mine or one a half. Throw mine. And if he throws
Starting point is 02:05:31 on the same person, gone. Kicking the ref out. Sayonara. God damn it. I see you throwing yours, Mike. We're going to meet at the same time. But they do got a standby ref. They should have more. But what I'm saying is it saves the NBA
Starting point is 02:05:48 like integrity. Right? They came to see the player, not the ref. So ref, you doing all this dumb shit. I think you picking on my player. There you go. Absolutely.
Starting point is 02:06:01 There you go. You got one. Get one more. Keep fucking up. I'll be that motherfucker playing with you. You know how they be doing us. You go absolutely there you go I'll be doing the same thing. Yeah One more you asked out better get it together. Yeah, well, you got to give some leverage back man. That'd be hilarious That'd be hilarious. That motherfucker be sitting there like... Aw, this... Oh, I tell you. And then you do it, see? Oh, you're gonna say, give it to me then. No, no, no.
Starting point is 02:06:31 I don't even really do it. No, that's for me. Well, put some spit in it then, motherfucker. Put some spit in it. Put some spit in it. Like, don't threaten me that you gonna blow it. Nigga, blow it. Put some spit in it. Like... Act like you gonna blow... Yeah, yeah, yeah, no, that's... it. Act like you're going to blow it.
Starting point is 02:06:47 I'm not afraid of that fucking whistle, man. But they be used to that power, man. Yeah, I tell you, blow it. You know what carrot like do? $500, man. Fucking $500, man. I'm sorry, $500 back there? Then, that was $500.
Starting point is 02:07:04 Man, why you think we was getting the b**** that alarming rate? The b**** ain't 2,500. The b**** was 2,500. There's a difference. You know what, you right, dawg. 500. 500? Yeah, I take that.
Starting point is 02:07:14 She had 60 of them b****. Come on, man. We are back. 60. Our next question comes from bmac32, that's his underdog username. He says, I'm a big fan of your music. I'm a big fan of your music. I'm a big fan of your music.
Starting point is 02:07:22 I'm a big fan of your music. I'm a big fan of your music. I'm a big fan of your music. I'm a big fan of your music. I'm a big fan of your music. I'm a big fan of your music. I'm a big fan of your music. Come on, man. We are back. 60. Our next question comes from bmac32. That's his underdog username. He said, what can we expect from season two of Gil's Arena? Hostile territory.
Starting point is 02:07:38 Motherfucker, you don't see the new set and everything? Like, you don't see this. Right? We got the best set cooking. ESPN ain't got shit on us. Look at this. This is, like, what we doing here is different. You're gonna expect some different shit. That's all I got to say. Some different shit.
Starting point is 02:07:56 Are we gonna make it through the whole season, Gil? Yeah. Yeah! Absolutely. Yeah, we got 82 games. We need them checks. We got 82 games. We got 82 games. Ain't gonna fumble the bag. Ain't gonna fumble the bag. I come to the line. Absolutely Okay, I come to the line I'm a I come to line habitual line step Habitual line step
Starting point is 02:08:25 Last time I stepped over she died about 30 days and a half we have I was in court Yeah, I learned my lesson god damn is he it And thankfully you did good because now we all have gainful employment Third question comes from underdog user Bravo B. So he sees we got the numbers on the court What's the meaning of the numbers y'all Warren college in the NBA? What what's the meaning for the numbers that you picked for college and the NBA? Oh, mine was, you know, because I picked Arizona coming from, you know, the Valley. You know, they said I wasn't going to play any minutes there.
Starting point is 02:09:01 So zero and one was just released when I was 25. But Steve Kerr, that was his number that was planning on retiring. So I was like, well, since they said I ain't gonna play no minutes here shit I'm gonna go with zero. What were you 25 for? Why'd you wear number 25? High school. No but what was the significance of number 25 in high school? Oh Penny Hardaway, Memphis.
Starting point is 02:09:17 Okay. Yeah so I was Penny Hardaway, Memphis. I was a big Penny fan. I wore number three because of Allen Iverson. That's it. Just AI. That's real. Larry Johnson. Grandma Ma. Oh, that's fire.
Starting point is 02:09:33 For real, that's fire. Yeah, he's from Dallas, the number one pick. Went to UNLV, wore that at four. I got to Cincinnati, I was like, I need that four. That's fire. Yeah. That's fire. That matches.
Starting point is 02:09:44 Need that four. That's real. How's fire. That matches. Need that four. That's real. How about yours? Yeah. Oh, we know why. Force into it. We got like 32, 32 is McCants, and the other four is Lexi Brown. Lexi.
Starting point is 02:09:56 54, it was hot in the 70s. In the 90s. That's college. Studio. That's college. Hey. It was studio 54. Yeah, studio 54.
Starting point is 02:10:04 Hot in the 70s. Now, my dad wore eight in the league, though, but I don't think... We couldn't wear eight That's Kyle. That's Kyle. Studio 54. That's Kyle's number. It was Studio 54. Yeah, Studio 54. Hot in the 70s. Now, my dad wore eight in the league though, but I don't think... We couldn't wear eight in college, if I'm not mistaken. Not back then. They could. You know, do like one through five, 10 to 15.
Starting point is 02:10:13 Yeah. Whatever that is. I'm going to go on a record here. Zero is probably the most worn number in sports. Right now it is. It's been there for some years now. We overtook 23 a long time ago. There's more players
Starting point is 02:10:30 that feel they need to prove something versus Michael Jordan's. Because now zero's in football. But how many players rocked to zero because of you though? It's crazy to hear. Even the young guys. Like I was just at a high level. Jason Tatum said it.
Starting point is 02:10:43 Right, Jason Tatum said it. Same name. You're a legend. Even the young guys like I was just at a high just a team said it right Jason Tatum said Yeah, right so you know like legend like I think about them zeros man is they think different Yeah, they think different now. They carry it on like it's That's tough. That's real shit Got a chip on my shoulder We need some girls arena zero jerseys, just saying. And last but not least, most of your fans
Starting point is 02:11:09 is from HeatEmUp06, can Dame do anything to surpass CP3 all time? Yeah, he's just going to win a ring this year.
Starting point is 02:11:20 Then he passes him? I mean, I think he already did. You got to let that hurt go. I'm not hurting. I'm not talking about it. I'm not saying nothing. High school has been awful, man.
Starting point is 02:11:31 Listen, I am not saying nothing bad about this man no more. He on your team now. Go to state. You got to let it go. I fuck with Steph. No, I know, but I'm saying you got to let it go. I fuck with Steph. No, I know, but you got to let it go.
Starting point is 02:11:45 No, I'm just saying. But he probably didn't even mean it. He asked a question. Dame is better already. Okay. So he don't need to do anything. Just go to Milwaukee and just win a ring. Hey, if anybody don't know, in high school and...
Starting point is 02:12:01 No, listen. He out here in layup line. Man, layup line doing all that shit. I'm like like this though, I'm out here doing all that shit. He said Chris Paul wasn't impressed, man. He called the word. What did Chris Paul say? Verbatim? What?
Starting point is 02:12:14 No, he didn't say it, he was just... Yeah, yeah, he gave no... Oh, it was the gesture. Yeah, like, I ain't impressed. Whatever. But no, I mean, listen, if they win it, I mean, you know, I hope Golden State do get... I mean, I got Milwaukee and Golden State in the finals this year. Come on, man.
Starting point is 02:12:28 You know, I got Milwaukee and Golden State in the finals. You know how this is going to end. I mean, listen. I got them going. Listen, I mean, it's some good teams, though. Like, because Wiggins is back. I got Golden State and Milwaukee in the finals this year. Man, Wiggins is still over there.
Starting point is 02:12:47 That's my picks. That's what I'm going with. I'm the only two teams I'm going for this year. Everybody else, good luck. That's what I'm riding with. I don't have an answer for that question. It seems like this man is personal, so I listen. Yeah, but I'm, well, I'm lying.
Starting point is 02:13:10 Wait, what? They... But I got to ask. Will Dame surpass Chris Paul? What does he mean? If he was, what does he mean? I understand the question. I, I...
Starting point is 02:13:18 Just, they're different, man. They're different. They're different types of... It's different basketball. It's different... Their styles is not even the same. Their style is not the same, though. So, yeah, I don't... It's just different.
Starting point is 02:13:31 People make everything out of fucking competition. There's different styles of play. Chris Paul is a hell of a leader, making people around him better. And he's the last breed of that point guard, though. No, no, no. He's still got a mellow a little bit. It's not as fluent.
Starting point is 02:13:51 Yeah. He's the last of it. That's it? Yeah. I mean, when you think about it, the way he plays the point guard position was the same way that it was played back then, where're controlling each possession making sure that we got Quality shot every possession every possession. Um, he maximized he maximized the talent He had around him when he doesn't have good talent, right?
Starting point is 02:14:16 Maybe everybody ran him is like big shot right you I'm making sure we get the best shots Like everybody's shooting for 80 some shots, you know 65 good ones, we good. We good with you, absolutely. 65 good ones, Low turnover game,
Starting point is 02:14:30 low, it's, yeah, yeah. Like, it'll be, like, they'll have 17 assists.
Starting point is 02:14:35 He got 14 of them. Yeah. Right? There ain't no team hockey or something. I'll make sure. Ain't no swing. I'm not putting it
Starting point is 02:14:40 for you to swing. Ain't no swing. Ain't no fucking swing, swing. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Ain't no fucking swing, swing. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Ain't no fucking swing, swing. Either I'm going to get a shot or you're going to get a shot. Ain't no swing, swing.
Starting point is 02:14:53 No. Man, I heard swing, swing. Yeah, yeah, swing, swing. Man, swing, swing. That's all we heard playing. Nah, it don't exist. Not anymore, huh? Boy, listen.
Starting point is 02:15:02 Playing with somebody's toes, see people, man, I can't make them. Yeah, yeah, yeah toes, CP, man, I can't make them. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That grenade, brother, I can't make that one, dog. That's the ah, ah, three,
Starting point is 02:15:11 two, uh. Yeah. Oh, come on, man. Yes. As a reminder to everybody out there, we are
Starting point is 02:15:18 giving $50 bonuses for everybody who has a good Mostly Fans question, and that was producers telling me to let you know to ask better questions, because some of the shit y'all asking is mid. And that was producers telling me to let you know
Starting point is 02:15:25 to ask better questions, because some of the shit y'all ask is mid. You are not gonna get to 50 with those questions you were asking. So come with better questions. That's coming from them, not me. You know I love y'all, even though y'all like to hate and clown still.
Starting point is 02:15:36 I mean, yeah, those questions were kind. I mean, for the first day back, those questions were kind. Those questions were kind. Block them? Yeah, block them. No, don't block the fans, man. No, neither.
Starting point is 02:15:46 We need them. We need y'all. Or just put them on mute or something. Put them on mute. We should put them on timer. You already ignore them by picking somebody else. That's definitely on mute. Don't nobody know about you unless it's being read.
