I think that's the problem with the youth and some of these NBA players. You're watching a guy after he developed his confidence and got his thing dialed in, not the stuff from when he came into the league, 2008, 9, 10. You're looking at this stuff now turning around. He wasn't doing it in the beginning of his career. Like, pay attention to what he was doing, taking quality shots, getting to his spots, pulling up. And then once he got that confidence

and once he became a legit threat, then some of the antics started coming in. You know, right now, you really haven't established anything to be doing some of the things you're doing. So, good, you had a similar trajectory anything to be doing some of the things you're doing. So, good. You had a similar trajectory going from the Warriors to the Wizards, getting the bag. How hard is it to go from being second, third option on the team to being that number one guy? It's hard, but it's earned.

You know, you earn it in practice every day. You earn it in the game. And when I first got to Washington, I wasn't the number one option. It was Jerry Stackhouse. But with Jerry Stackhouse missing games and, you know, my game is, you know, coming along, that's when they got rid of Jerry,

Brung and Antoine. Antoine was coming off six men in a year, right? It was me, him, and Larry. And, you know, there we just playing together. And, you know, at some point, the year, right? It was me, him, and Larry, and there we just playing together. And at some point, the cream rises. And that's how it is. Right now, it's him and Kuzma trying to figure out who's going to be there.

But the one who plays consistent basketball is the one who becomes the man on the team, not the one who can be on SportsCenter every day. That's what you want, then you're going to be on SportsCenter every day. One way or another. Yeah, you're going to be on SportsCenter. Whether you like it or not. We're making or breaking, but if you average a 16 and Kuzma averaging 28, motherfucker, that's the man on the team.

It seems like he has a chip on his shoulder coming from a winning franchise now to the Wizards. Like, when you watch his game, Brandon, do you feel that kind of same way?

It's just tough. To your point, if that's what you want to go out and be, then all right, we understand it.

You want to be on SportsCenter every night for good or bad, then have at it, young man. More power to you. But if you're trying to be the guy on your team and lead your team with some wins and create your own legacy, then you've got to play different. If you want to score 30, 35 a game, you have to be simpler. You're not going to be able to score 35 a game playing like that.

NBA players usually, you know, welcome, you know, the new guys. They're just trying to understand everybody's pregame routines, you know, like just for me that was the hardest thing, like knowing everybody's pregame routine like who goes and gets taped and what what is the order of getting taped and how early i got to get here to get like you know what i mean it's like putting your routine in a group that already has a routine you know uh i think for me i think it depends on when you get traded like if i you know i got traded to detroit in the summertime so coming in i was i had time to you know, I got traded to Detroit in the summertime, so coming in, I was, I had time to, you know, adjust.

I think the hardest one for me was when I came to Washington after the Knicks. I wasn't comfortable at all because I came in towards the second half of the season and they already was rolling. So it was kind of like a, I was kind of there, but I wasn't there, like in a sense. So I think it's all timing and when you get traded. And how much do teams offer resources? Do they try to help that transition, or they're just like, yo, go figure it out?

I mean, when you first get there, they're going to try to find you a house. You've got to take your physical and things like that. But after that, it's kind of like on your own. You've got money. It ain't like we've't like, you know, we got to like feed you and take, you know, it's like you got money, so you should be able to move around.
