Starting point is 00:02:28 We got Rashad McKenzie back here with us. How you doing? How you doing? What's up? Festive. All black. Again. What's up with the all black in this seat?
Starting point is 00:02:36 This is Shirley Temple. That's all, you know. You got the ball ready to go? I got everything. I got Hinge. I'm on Hinge. I got the ball ready. You said you're on Hinge?
Starting point is 00:02:44 You're on what? I got the ball ready I'm doing all three is early multi-tech. You're at work. So you also got a new book, right? It's called the Work light with love. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. This is my third book. Okay, I'm getting my nerd on you feel me the light Yes, but yeah the light with love a little superhero book for the urban youth. Okay, I like that Yeah, how we do Okay, how you doing? How you doing brother? Really better, you know my shirt, you know, it's a parade. It's my city. Oh, yeah breaking news John Moran suspension is officially over.
Starting point is 00:03:27 Jobbik! It's a parade! It's a parade in my city, yeah! That was my attempt to gritty. Jawik. Jawik. Jawik is in the building. You said he wasn't going to play tonight.
Starting point is 00:03:41 I hope he don't. Adam Silver said, you know what? Yes, you are. TNT game. You better. Why do you hope he don't play tonight said you know what yes, you are TNT game you better You don't play tonight cuz it's a wet roll game. No cuz no Now he's like I'm sorry man. Like this is he should be offended It should be offended because everything they did was personal. Yeah, right
Starting point is 00:03:58 25 games which you made it exactly the number so I couldn't make all NBA team So even if he come out average in 40, he can't make that team. Yeah, so you initially did number so I couldn't make an all-NBA team. So even if he come out averaging 40, he can't make that team. So you initially did that. So I wouldn't benefit in my contract year, right? So that means they're going to get me cheaper, right? Cheaper to cheaper. And then my day you come back, you want to put me on TV to benefit from the ratings. Yes.
Starting point is 00:04:22 And not at home. Not at home. No. Talk about it, Gil. I want to play where I'm loved. And I'm loved in Memphis, so that's where I want to play at. So I'll come to the game, do the interviews, but I'm not. Imagine if he did
Starting point is 00:04:33 the whole warm-up and then he came out in his regular clothes. If he's going to do that, he's got to do it that way. It reminds me of that Kaepernick thing. You're keeping me out of the league, but you're selling my jerseys. Oh, but they're going to make money off me. Yeah, you're making money off me out of league, but you're selling my jerseys. Oh Yeah, you making money off me while you're taking money from me. Yeah, I fucked up but cool Give me 25 games in my bite. Okay, cool. Now. I'm gonna pick one. I play. Yeah I'm gonna get some free games in this motherfucker for real
Starting point is 00:04:58 We kept they came through with the all-black Niners Jersey to this, you know I'll start off like, yeah, I'm mentally, I can't mentally play on the road right now. Some Ben Simmons shit. Only home games. Only home games. Only home games.
Starting point is 00:05:11 You want to see me come to Memphis? John Moran is back. I like that. I like that. No, that's just petty. That's petty. That's petty. That's the Kyrie shit.
Starting point is 00:05:21 That's the Kyrie shit. I'm Kyrie. I'm only working home games. Only home games. Only home games. Hilarious. So, Ja's back. And to celebrate the return, Underdog Fantasy is giving you a special promo. If you go to the Underdog Picks Twitter account,
Starting point is 00:05:33 for every 1,000 retweets their Ja tweet gets, Ja's point projection will decrease by one point. Oh, wow. Yeah. You already know. You have until 4 p.m. Eastern to go retweet tell your friends to get some bread I feel like this is my backfire on underdog though. We get like 25,000 retweets on there put it at zero
Starting point is 00:05:53 The job my fuck around just check in and then check out and not This is how these go now does my account is dwindling. I'll just say that it's been a rough winter I got one more. You got one more? Tonight. Tonight. One more. I'm hoping to see.
Starting point is 00:06:08 I hope it's not play. I want them to play. Oh. I'll bet on him. Ah. Yeah. We need pickups. Pickups.
Starting point is 00:06:14 I mean, my bet. Damn, I keep saying that, huh? The only bet we rock with is BET. Cut. You right. Higher or lower. You right. That's my bet.
Starting point is 00:06:22 Fuck. Uncut. So here's what we got cooking in the arena today. The Lakers unveiled their 18th banner, but have lost three of their last four since winning the NBA Cup. Is it time to get Rob on the phone? The Celtics are undefeated at home this season, but do they have the best starting five in the league?
Starting point is 00:06:42 I think at least one person on this couch may think so. And the Pistons are on the brink of becoming the biggest loser in NBA history. Why y'all do them then like that? Yeah, that's brother starving. Wing stop. Get them their boneless wings. The people in Detroit deserve it. What have they done?
Starting point is 00:07:00 It's the water, man. It's the winter. People's going hungry right now. They need them five free boneless wings, courtesy of Wing Stop. Oh my gosh. I don't know if y'all have seen the water, man. It's the winter. People's going hungry right now. They need them five free boneless wings, courtesy of Wingstop. Oh, my gosh. I don't know if y'all have seen the graphics, but the Wingstop logo is moving further and further away from the team every time they post a score. It's a cold world.
Starting point is 00:07:15 But before we get into all that, as always, this show is brought to you by Underdog Fantasy. If you want to get your bread up, download the app, use promo code GILD. Starting point is 00:07:58 but we got audio versions available on Apple, Spotify, wherever you get your podcasts from. So we're going to start this one a little lighter. Mack McClung has Salt Lake City turned up this year at the dunk contest. And even though he's doing his thing in the G League and not technically in the league, the NBA is requesting his talents again at All-Star Weekend this season. So we got the tweet. Yes.
Starting point is 00:08:19 So according to Shams, the NBA is inviting McClung to appear in the 2024 All-Star Dunk Contest in Indianapolis so he can defend his title He's actually cooking in the G League though playing with the the Orlando Magic's G League squad They're nice Look at the boosies. Oh, that's that's great. But Y'all gotta ask you these basketball peers to a certain extent should McClung be able to appear in the NBA dunk contest Even though he isn't in the league right now um for for what i stood on a few years ago i thought that the nba dunk contest was getting watered down because you know nba players don't work on
Starting point is 00:08:57 dunk contest dunks right and you know as fans we we have YouTube. So we see Dunk Academics, the One Foot God. Not Keyshawn, but Bear Down. He's Johnson. Kay Johnson from You Can Jump Out the Gym. We see these guys dunking all year. So the dunks we see on YouTube and IG, when a dunk contest comes, we're bored already. So the fact that they're allowing him to enter the dunk contest without being in the league, it probably should open up the dunk.
Starting point is 00:09:36 Yeah, to dunk creators and stuff. They be in LA Fitness doing the most. Yeah, working on dunks. Working on their craft. Yeah, I think that would be cool. They would have to re- reimagine how they presented and marketed it though because it technically wouldn't really be an NBA dunk contest anymore but I think that would be cool.
Starting point is 00:09:57 I don't know. I wish he could play. Like hoop. He was taller. Really like go out there and really poop in the NBA yeah cuz all that hops man autumn hops he got he was a little bit he got he got bounced crazy bounce why won't they do the dunk contest okay so here's history lesson in the 80s when they were doing a dunk contest those guys were actually forced because it was you know dunk contest, those guys were actually forced.
Starting point is 00:10:26 Because it was, so most of those teams were being established, right? When they were picking dunkers, each team was trying to get a player inside there so they can be seen on TV, right? So most of those guys that was in a dunk contest were told that they got to go perform, because most already knew that it was kind of shaky anyway. It was Dominique or... It was shaky. It was going to be... Dominique, Spud, Weber, Imgur. Yeah, it was shaky. We don't want to be here. But because the league was being established,
Starting point is 00:11:01 they wanted... The team needed... I'm Kings. I need my player to represent. Now the league was being established, they wanted, the team needed, like, I'm Kings, I need my player to represent. Yeah, yeah. You know, now the league is very popular and- I feel like after that Aaron Gordon year when he didn't win, was that the year he didn't win? Yeah. I think all the guys were like, we're not doing this no more.
Starting point is 00:11:17 Shit crazy. Because he definitely should have won that dunk contest. But just between the two years they did it back to back, the type of dunks they was doing, I believe that everybody else kind of got discouraged because they weren't going to come up with better dunks. The dunks they were doing was crazy. Yeah. But same thing, same reason probably LeBron didn't never enter, right?
Starting point is 00:11:36 There's being a high jumper and there's being creative. The dunks he does in game aren't dunk contest dunks. So the dunk contest dunk is creativity. And the NBA players don't sit there and work on those type of dunks until like a week before the dunk contest. So it would be better for the league to allow these outside entities to come in. And what ends up happening is the ego of an NBA player. I'm not losing to no dude
Starting point is 00:12:08 who dunk at 24-Hour Fitness. Right. I'm not losing to a dude that dunk at 24-Hour Fitness, right? You know, that's that ego. So now I'm going to spend two, three weeks working on my dunks
Starting point is 00:12:19 to get prepared to go against this dude. You know who should be in the dunk contest? Uh-oh. I was about to go there. Who are you? Who, who, who should be in the dunk contest? Uh-oh. I was about to go there. Who are you?
Starting point is 00:12:26 Who, who, who? Who? Jock. Who? A certain man who's not going to make the All-Star game. Think about the momentum for him. If he's in the dunk contest,
Starting point is 00:12:36 that changes everything for him. Even, like you said, if he don't play this game tonight. Yeah. Right? Let's just say he's on that bitter shit. See me at the All-Star game. I'm going to take
Starting point is 00:12:47 all the attention away from the actual game because I can't play in it. Yes. He can play an All-Star game. He can still make the All-Star team. He can still make the All-Star team because he can get voted in.
Starting point is 00:12:57 He's going to get voted in. He's going to have two good games and the fans are going to vote him. It'll be his game. Yeah, the voting hasn't started yet. All-Star voting starts today, but Gil... Oh, exactly. But if we know the league like we know the league,
Starting point is 00:13:09 they'll figure out a way to make sure John doesn't make the All-Star game. But Rashad, to your point, if he could pull up, win the dunk contest, and just dip... It's over. It's over. And he would win it. I bet you he's going to have the second most votes under Brown. If All-Star voting starts today,
Starting point is 00:13:24 and he comes out and do anything spectacular... He getting all the votes. He's the vote. Like, the kids want him. Yeah. So he's at an advantage. Like, I mean, he's... It's like Yao when Yao was getting all them Chinese votes.
Starting point is 00:13:37 He wasn't even playing. He wasn't even playing. He wasn't even playing. But the voting is changing, right? You're the starting center in the all-star game. You didn't even play. Like, fan vote only has a certain like, you're the starting center in the All-Star game. You didn't even play. Like, fan vote only has
Starting point is 00:13:46 a certain portion or fans still vote through the starter thing completely, right? 50%. 50%. So they'll figure out a way to be janky
Starting point is 00:13:52 with the other 50. What happens? They can't. So fan vote is only 50% for the starters. Like, they do some other janky shit.
Starting point is 00:13:58 Yeah, he learned his lesson. They can't punish him no more. It's over. They learned his lesson. He learned his lesson. That's what I'm saying. They keep altering and keep trying to...
Starting point is 00:14:06 Like he'll get 50% of the fan vote, but he'll get 1% of the league vote. Yes. You know what I mean? That's what I said. They're messing with history. You mess with history. If it's fan voting and it's been that for the longest, you can't change it now. They just changed it? No, they're going to change it for him. But you know what we need? We need K-pop fans to rally together. Alright. You see what you've done for others. Come do it for a job.
Starting point is 00:14:32 I just want them, to be honest, the only thing I want about All Star Weekend is, and voting, is I want them to be able to put the coaches, the coaches vote on a, so we can see, because there's this thing, like, you know, because they, they put, you know, there's a eight, was it seven, eight, eight after, right? There's eight after. And then they put it in like two guards, three, like they do that, but they don't tell the coaches that. So let's say I vote all guards, like all the guards is balling. And that's my, by the time they finish that you can be someone
Starting point is 00:15:07 Who's in the power for position can have to vote to make that also again Wow? Because all the other guards cancel themselves out so somebody like You got jaw you got Fox right you got Kyrie you got Luca You got curry SGA right S Curry. SGA. Right, SGA. You got six guards. Right? You got six guards. But they're only going to take three. They're only going to take three.
Starting point is 00:15:29 That was all the West? That was all only West guards. All West guards. And all six can be averaging 30. And there'd be a dude in the All-Star game averaging 15 points with two votes from the coaches. But because they need that position. They need to take that out. Is it a biased thing with the coaches, but because they need that position. They need to take that out. Is it a biased thing with the coaches, too?
Starting point is 00:15:48 Because I remember they were talking about George Carl was doing that shit. Like, certain players, he ain't. Think about West coaches. How many played under, let's say, what do we have right now? Steve Kerr. How many coaches played with Steve Kerr under that umbrella? Right? So now when you think about those coaches in the West, right, you got Sacramento coach.
Starting point is 00:16:13 Yep. Right? Mike. You vote for my guy. I vote for your guy. Oh, shit. Here we go. Don't say that.
Starting point is 00:16:19 You're saying the quiet part. I love it. Doing the brotherhood. Sit. What I'm saying is when you're going around voting for guards, you're going to vote for your guy. Then you're going to vote for Steph because that's who you coached. Same thing. I'm going to vote for Steph and I'm going to vote for your guy.
Starting point is 00:16:32 And that's what ends up happening. You get two votes. Now, when you look around and see how some of these guys made it, think about who their assistant coaches were on that team. And they're head coaches now. Can you expose them to this, brother? No credential again this year. When I was averaging 29.3 and then y'all tried to leave me out. Tried to leave me out?
Starting point is 00:16:54 Tried to leave me out out here cooking. No credential again. No credentials again. No credentials for Gil's Arena yet again. We continue our streak. It's almost as long as the Pistons. But let's talk about Draymond green so Draymond started counseling in the midst of his indefinite suspension Expected to miss at least the next three weeks according to Shams So Gil last week you made this prediction on how the indefinite suspension would actually play out
Starting point is 00:17:21 We've been in the NBA. All right. This is where our expertise kicks in. If they wanted to suspend him, what the fuck are we meeting about? There ain't no meeting. We're suspending you, and you're going to tell him you're going to do counseling, you're going to see a therapist, you're going to talk to him, and then five games after Christmas,
Starting point is 00:17:41 everybody forget about you, and we're going to put you back in the lineup, and then you got, that's all that fluff shit. That ain't real. So the three-week timeline will put Green's total games missed around 12, which will put them back in action on January 7th against the Raptors, which is the sixth game after Christmas. Gil, so you was off by one.
Starting point is 00:18:01 I was off by one. Gil Stradamus. It could be that pissesons game. For the nostalgia. But I feel like Joe Dunbar is not going to let him go back to. So three weeks is on that date? Three weeks would be. Six games total. So 12.
Starting point is 00:18:14 12 games total. Including the initial suspension announcement after the Pistons game. Because I did say 10. You said 10. Okay. Y'all, you know, somewhere in that range. But I don't think Joe Dumars will let Draymond come back for the Pistons game.
Starting point is 00:18:29 Where is it at, in Detroit? For the nostalgia. Hold on, let me pull it. So that means we're even on that tape, right? No, the game is at home. At home. But either way, then they have to run the Gills Arena clip with she talking about how they birthed.
Starting point is 00:18:45 Draymond. Draymond. So as you recall, Greenwood suspended five games for Chuck and Rudy Gobert on November 14th. But Gills, I'll start with you. Will we finally see a different Draymond moving forward? No. No. Like, stop, man.
Starting point is 00:19:03 You ain't going to be able to change that fast, man. I don't care what kind of therapy you in, man. As soon as that ball clicker, bow! You don't think he's going to change a little bit? No. What happened to Mike Tyson when he got out of jail? All praise be. How long was he in jail?
Starting point is 00:19:23 Two years. Yeah. Two years. We're equivalent. No, it's not. No, it's not. I'm equating jail? Two years. Yep. Two years. We're equivalent. No, it's not. No, it's not. I'm equating it to two years. When you have to lock him up and you have to put him...
Starting point is 00:19:32 Two years in jail versus two weeks of therapy are very different situations. When you have to lock the beast up and you have to tell him he had to breathe and concentrate and all that other shit, he come out and he start biting. He gonna bite a nigga. I'll give him... I'm gonna bite a nigga next. If he comes back that game
Starting point is 00:19:46 and finishes the season, I think he'll get ejected two more times. Oh, no. That's what I'm saying. He's getting... He's gonna get ejected at least two to three more times.
Starting point is 00:19:55 It might not be like... This isn't... That's how he plays. But it's not gonna be in these like egregious manners. It's gonna be like he might get two texts
Starting point is 00:20:02 and then he gets ejected. Like, he ain't gonna choke nobody up No, I'm not no. I just said what I said, but I'm also say that yes, he he gonna get the message He's gonna get I think that the embarrassment of it all now is just playing into part. I guess it's embarrassing Oh, so when he knocked the dude out that what he was in a mission cuz you guys didn't blame him for you guys gave him credit for The way he choked when you giving him credit for it is any embarrassing It's like oh, I did with Rudy Gobert was more more nah because you still gave him credit for okay He felt like he did it for a reason. You don't think him him him slapping across the space
Starting point is 00:20:39 He was definitely seen out of pocket like we all see you out of all of them out of you had it They all was but but we all... Y'all gave him the pass. It was cool, man. He should have did this. He should have did that. That's three people. That's three people. Your following got at least 900,000
Starting point is 00:20:56 people who are agreeing with you. You got Shannon Sharpe against me. You can't take away his reaction this is not something where he's calculating like with kingen right kingen is building up right he's built is building up it's calculated then it's like hey i'm gonna give you a warning hey hey hey stop this shit but i already don't like you but it's a warning warning, right? It's a warning. I'm warning you. Hey, ref, warn him. Not true.
Starting point is 00:21:27 I think everything he does is calculated. Talk to him. Talk to him. Look at every highlight he's done. It's all reaction. It's not. He's going to get a rebound. Somebody hit him.
Starting point is 00:21:36 He goes like that. No. It's not. If you look at his highlights, there's no- Then why is no one else reacting the same way? There's no reaction. There's 300 players. You thought he just thought like, oh, if Nurkic hit me in the back
Starting point is 00:21:46 three or four times with the little tippy tap, I'm going to turn around and... Yes. He's just doing this. Yes. I got reason to now. He's hit me in the back of the head
Starting point is 00:21:53 three times, ref. He didn't know. He touched him. He's just doing this. He's just doing this right here. He's just back touching him. There was nothing. There's no merit.
Starting point is 00:22:03 There's no merit. Exactly. So how did... What warranted that reaction? Exactly. That's what I. There's no merit. Exactly. So what warranted that reaction? Exactly. That's what I'm trying to tell you. Nothing. So if there's nothing warranting it, then he can't control it. Then it's calculated.
Starting point is 00:22:13 Then it's not calculated. If it's not warranted a reaction, you're doing it on purpose. If it's warranted, then it's calculated because you're going to do something. I'm going to piss you off. It's like he has Tourette's of basketball. He gets triggered very easily he going down to like when you sit when you sit he just run down and just run the dude over like that looks weird yeah but that looks he sat there for a second it was like okay how about the one where he's trying to dribble and the dude stole it and he just gets mad and kicks him in the ass?
Starting point is 00:22:47 Right? So think about that. Have you ever stole a ball from somebody, turned around, and someone kicked you in your ass? Come on, man. In a real game. But that's what I'm saying. This is, no, he's going to get two more. At least.
Starting point is 00:23:00 Yo, basketball Tourette's. He has basketball Tourette's? You got a family, though, Trayvon. You got a family. Listen, I've watched it. Your family's watching you. I'm trying to see, all right, let's see, is he getting fouled a couple games? Like, is something happening?
Starting point is 00:23:11 And he's just like, oh, shit. Oh, no. What did you do? Why are you doing this? Basketball Tourette's, baby. Damn, man. That's a thing now. That's a thing now, bro.
Starting point is 00:23:23 You got to calm down. It's a clinical error. He's going to come back and say, yep, I have basketball Tourette's, man. That's a thing now. That's a thing now, bro. You gotta calm down. It's a clinical error. He's gonna come back and say, yep, I have basketball threats. I do, yes. I do, I do. That's what the lady told me. So, Lexi, do you think Draymond will be able to change his ways, or this is who... He said nobody can be Draymond better than
Starting point is 00:23:37 Draymond, so he showed it. I want him to change his ways. He's an adult. He's a grown man. I believe that he can at least pander to the people for at least a little bit. Just a little bit. Like three weekends. I mean, I don't want him to do it to the extent of where now he's just out there and now he's not being effective because he's like, well, this is what y'all wanted me to do.
Starting point is 00:23:57 Yep. I still want him to find a way to be effective without slapping people and choking people. I think it's possible. The Gobert choke, though, now in hindsight watching that tape, he thought Clay was in a situation that his clap broke. I still think that he was protecting his teammates. That's y'all still protecting Draymond's ass.
Starting point is 00:24:15 Look who we just talking about. Y'all still on track. The dragon was excessive. But the Nurk slap is inexcusable. All of it is inexcusable in basketball. We're not in the WWF. You are not a teammate. The Nurk slap is inexcusable. All of it is inexcusable in basketball. We're not in the WWF. You are not Sting, bro. Don't run up on Klay.
Starting point is 00:24:29 He's already having a tough year. You are not Sting, bro. And his jersey was off. Like, what you going up to Klay for? Man, y'all. If you got a highlight reel of doing shit like this, it's Tom's up, bro. The jig is up.
Starting point is 00:24:43 Except the classical music. You got a highlight reel. You got more than six clips of you doing shit like this. time's up, bro. The jig is up. Except the classical music. You got a highlight reel. You got more than six clips of you doing shit like this. I'm off. Hey, hey, hey, hey. If I got a pit bull, I want my pit bull to be a pit bull. All right? If what he do is lock jaw, lock it.
Starting point is 00:24:57 Hey, you caught your baby? Oh, well. I told you not to come back here. Oh, well. You called us a legend. I'm just saying. that's Draymond. If I sub you in, do work. Do work. Allegedly.
Starting point is 00:25:11 Do work. Snooki! Do work. Do work. It's the Barnell Hill Show. Chico, bro! Chico! Hey, hey, hey, man, listen.
Starting point is 00:25:20 Chico! Chico! Chico, run! Chico. So Draymond's basically Chico, okay. Yeah, come on, man, let's see a Chico. Chico, run. So Draymond's basically Chico, okay. Come on, man. All right. This is going to be hard, man.
Starting point is 00:25:31 It's just one of them things. When you're an enforcer, your job is to enforce the good and the bad. But if your Draymond isn't your job to be there on the floor for your squad, which is already struggling, on the verge of not making the playoffs this year. Yeah. We just haven't had an enforcer like Draymond since, like, Dennis Rodman. Since the 80s. And we're trying to adjust to it
Starting point is 00:25:50 with the way that he's playing. Because he's doing what he's seeing. That's what Rasheed was talking about. We gave him that energy to come out here and be a bully. But the Pistons squad wasn't as reckless as this. What? What? The 04 Pistons, Gil?
Starting point is 00:26:02 No, not them. They were actually... The ones that influenced Draymond. They were actual defensive players. Not the 89-90 when he was birthed and had no recollection. He was too young. Or was he? We talk them all.
Starting point is 00:26:12 Or did they put him in front of those TV screens at a very early age? And that's what... I got to ask him. That was his Sesame Street. That was his Sesame Street. Watching the bad boys... But I mean, if he's in practice... I mean, if you're in practice every day with a team like that
Starting point is 00:26:27 I'm pretty sure They were just smart enough to really like play real defensive like that was a That was a defensive team when people talk about like the best defensive team the best defensive team I played against Was that oh for that? Oh for? Pistons team they wasn't dirty. They just knew how to play I mean rip was scratch your hearing there every before The most part you drive and everybody knew their assignment everyone played very well together They were they were holding you to CCA. They wasn't clothesline. It wasn't it wasn't doing none of that. They were unapologetically
Starting point is 00:27:04 The best strategic defensive team of our era because they played, like you said, played together. They knew where to go rotation-wise. But I think with Draymond, though, getting that energy from them when I remember being around that team in 2004 because I was in college. And McDyess,
Starting point is 00:27:20 I think it was Max Seal, Ben Wallace, all of their front line guys were all cool, but they would clothesline your ass. They was about that shit. It was in a subtle professional way, though. The championship swag way
Starting point is 00:27:36 where it wasn't so much like the Detroit of the 80s. It was more so, look, man, we'll clothesline your ass. We're going to win this game, too. That's where Draymond get his energy. And not get kicked out Yeah, he just took it too far. He just takes it to he just don't know Yeah, he don't know how to the real it in it doesn't said it's always like he'll get one that's controlled that the other one just seems like it's just Premeditated the first one. He's like, get it back. No, no, I know she tried to get me in. I'm on my swivel.
Starting point is 00:28:05 I'm on my swivel. Yeah, Lex! I'm on my swivel. Good job, Lexi. Good job. Yeah, Lex! She tried. You both had a little button that said, beep.
Starting point is 00:28:13 Yeah, she tried. Point for Lexi. Yeah, she tried. She tried. I was like, you agree? Like Chris Paul, right? If you ever notice Chris Paul gets two fouls. He's trying to get a foul, end up getting an offensive foul.
Starting point is 00:28:31 Right? He gets one. His next foul, is he going to foul whoever takes the ball out so he can talk to the ref to get a technical? Yeah. So he's going to get a foul that he wasn't expecting. Then he's going to get his foul he wanted. And then he's going to get that technical for talking shit to the ref
Starting point is 00:28:46 Right. The first one was uncontrollable. He was the second one he controlled. So the first thing was the reaction He just reacted and it went against him. Yeah, and then the next way I calculated this is yeah Yeah, the second two things is calculated. Got it. So I don't do ever chat said Dre Mysterio Jr. With the mask on. With the mask on. They're going to have the image up. I know that. So, Dre, my four-time champion, let's talk about another champion. After getting strong-armed by the league to properly acknowledge the
Starting point is 00:29:17 in-season tournament, the NBA Cup World Champion of the World, Los Angeles Lakers. The World Cup Champion of the World. NBA Cup World Champion of the World, Los Angeles Lakers. The World Cup Champion of the World? NBA Cup World Champion of the World, Craig. Los Angeles Lakers unveiled their 18th championship banner. Oh, that's cute. They did this? For real?
Starting point is 00:29:33 Did this happen? With a catchy history tweet with the IST in caps. Yeah, this didn't really happen. Look at it. It all just happened. Yo. With room for more years. With room for more years. Congratulations. This is a tournament champion. Congratulations
Starting point is 00:29:53 Yes But don't say Kobe would never I Heard you back there And then he gave Taylor Swift and he put take he's the one who put Taylor Swift But do the consecutive sellout streak? Yeah, the bomb you say Taylor, you know fucking Hooper movie product She didn't about football players the Staples Center, bro. The Staples Center was not a basketball It was built on basketball not that extra shit They use but it was money for when we can't play basketball Bill for every multi-purpose facility wasn't bill for Taylor Swift
Starting point is 00:30:30 Some boxers it wasn't for the lane All that the Swifties gonna get the bus the bus owns the Lakers and he just oh, yeah We like is not playing do you want to come in here? Come on? Hey, do you look concert? Hey, do they watch it? Hey, hey, who the Swifties? It don't matter. They watch it. Hey, hey, Kobe wouldn't have Probably would never but he gave just go back to the original Yeah, stop moving the goalposts Kobe would never but he had an incident tournament where Kobe was playing He wouldn't try to put his all to win a championship
Starting point is 00:31:00 Kobe would never but there's a better Taylor Swift in the arena The second if sellout streak though very impressive I mean we can't say Kobe would never because there's a better Taylor Swift in the arena Consecutive sellout streak though very impressive. I mean we can't say Kobe would never cuz this didn't exist So yeah, they didn't need it then everyone played hard They were playing hard back everyone played fucking hard We don't need to put some other incentive if you motherfuckers come here play a little bit harder Can I ask you something cuz I hear that all the time Tell me someone who don't play hard at the beginning of season Name me a star that doesn't play hard at the beginning of the season.
Starting point is 00:31:27 I don't want to be offensive. You know, I can only think of one. Have you been seeing the ladies, Rashad? But Jimmy Butler said he doesn't really try until after All-Star weekend. But the stats are the same. Similar. No, it's funny that you say that because when we talk about Embiid being MVP, people are like, well, he had a cupcake schedule.
Starting point is 00:31:48 Y'all mad that players aren't playing hard, and then when they play hard against the bad teams, now you're like... Well, he'll play hard all the time. Yeah, like he is playing hard all the time, though. Not just the bad teams. Well, he is playing hard against the bad teams, which I feel like Embiid two years ago would not have played hard against the bad teams. No, but what I'm saying, when they say the players aren't playing hard and then you ask someone who, they can't actually give you any players.
Starting point is 00:32:15 Because whoever's in the MVP race at the beginning, they're playing hard. All the top leaders of scoring, rebound, and then assist are playing hard because they're the leaders So who's actually the ones that's not playing hard the ones that came out of your mouth was true Well and B because he never plays hard. That's what you said. I said he's never in shape But he averaged 32 so but my plan my being in shape is not his being in shape But if you ask him, does he play hard? He's going to say, yeah. Right?
Starting point is 00:32:46 He's averaging 32. He was a, he was an MVP leader. So it don't really matter who I say doesn't play hard. If you ask them, they'll say they play hard. No, I'm just saying, are the, are the stats going to prove, are, are these guys who are considered stars averaging 15 to 20 at the beginning of the season? And then, and then in january they're averaging 32 or they're just averaging 32 from the gate and going yeah the stats don't tell you whether someone's playing hard oh okay what tells us then watch the media watching the game media
Starting point is 00:33:18 media just says it as you're watching the guy not hustle i mean i feel like there's a lot of guys that don't play hard. Like, it's a hustle thing. There's a lot of guys that you necessarily are going to point out and be like, they're not playing hard. You can see it. It's number six, seven, eight, nine. You can feel it. It's energy.
Starting point is 00:33:35 It's like he's not playing hard. It's nasty. You can see it. It ain't about points. A nigga can go out there and score 30 and then play hard at all. Sometimes Luke can look like he's not playing hard at all. Because it's that easy. He's like, I ain't got to get back on defense for what.
Starting point is 00:33:49 We're up 30. What I've seen and what I've seen that I don't see at the beginning of the season, in season games, the guys who are disgruntled at the training camp
Starting point is 00:34:03 that they ain't getting their minutes, they're the ones with the energy. Yeah. Right? Them players, that 8, 9, 10, 11, they usually just be sitting there
Starting point is 00:34:14 just mad that they ain't getting in. Now they have 500,000. Let's go, let's go. Time to shine. That's that energy that I see. When you talk about the playoffs,
Starting point is 00:34:27 who is really going in the playoffs? It's the guys. Like, when we seen, remember, was it Brooklyn Nets? No, New Jersey Nets at the time. The D'Lo team. Yeah. When they were sitting there doing all that. When they were doing all the dancing on the side.
Starting point is 00:34:39 That's what we seen from every team during that. They're so hyped off the bench. So, when you get out the game, right, it's not that, oh man, Coach Jensen. None of that. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You're going right back in. You're going right back in. It was the whole team as a whole was into the games. So it elevated the energy. So it elevated the energy from the team.
Starting point is 00:35:00 Not necessarily made them play harder, but- But it incentivizes it. It is. But now if I get 500,000? Pick your intensity up. It's something on the line. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But even if you really think about it, if we have to incentivize you guys to this,
Starting point is 00:35:15 to play harder during the season, it's like that to me is saying one thing. Then it's like, all right, if we're going to incentivize them, let's continue to do so. Put it like this. If the end-season tournament was in with my rookie season, we're going all out. Listen, remember, I spend all my money already, so I'm broke as a motherfucker right now. I got Rob, Gil.
Starting point is 00:35:36 I got Rob. My full check was gone. So you already know. I would have been on it. Man, put this goddamn beer away. Goddamn it. They might put you in the game. Now, hey, Coach, this motherfucker over here drinking. Coach, put that shit out. Let's go, y'all. Let's go. Let's go. Put this goddamn beer away
Starting point is 00:36:08 Boy get him some water I got 500,000. Put that beer away. Put that goddamn beer away. This little fucker drunk by the fourth quarter. Hell no. We need everybody ready to play. Dive on the floor. I got 500 coming our way. So let's talk a little bit about these Lakers. I was a WNBA player. I'm sorry, Lakers. I'm sorry, Lakers.
Starting point is 00:36:17 But God, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry.NBA player. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:36:27 I'm sorry, Lance. I'm sorry, Lance, but God damn it. I was in that motherfucker playing like... Guys, I am not broke, okay? No, no, no. Gil, WNBA contracts improving. Not where they need to be by any stretch of the imagination. Because I know y'all like to try and call me broke all the time. Have you tried to call you broke?
Starting point is 00:36:42 All the time. Who? Broke people, probably? Broke people probably. Broke people. Because obviously, I mean, if I looked at my salary on Google, I'd be like, eh, okay. That's like what fat people call me fat. Like, what are we missing here? It's a compliment.
Starting point is 00:36:54 We are equivalent. There ain't nothing wrong with being broke. We are equivalent. Ain't nothing wrong with being broke. We is good over here, okay? Been broke for 39 years. But Dougie's salary is increasing. Not where they need to be.
Starting point is 00:37:02 Slowly but surely. Slowly but surely. Slow, man. Give them their bags. I'm sitting with rich people. I'm broke. Slowly but surely. Slow, slow, slow, man. Give them their bags. I'm sitting with rich people. I'm broke. I'm good.
Starting point is 00:37:09 Y'all motherfuckers keep thriving. My diamonds are fake. I get contacts standing next to y'all motherfuckers. Keep it going. Fuck them motherfuckers out there talking about me being broke. Fuck them. My diamonds are fake. Fuck them. But let's talk about the Lakers a little bit.
Starting point is 00:37:21 Since winning the NBA Cup World Championship of the World, the Lakers have lost three of their last four games, including one to the Spurs that helped snap their 18-game losing streak. So, Gil, you're a part-time Laker fan. What have the Lakers shown you since winning the NBA Cup? The same thing I was saying before they won the NBA Cup. Let's get that trade so we can get ready for the championship. Wait a minute.
Starting point is 00:37:42 Wait a minute. Let's get ready for this trade so we can get ready for the championship. Wait a minute. Wait a minute. Let's get ready for this trade so we can get to our championship motor. I'm not going to be here. Some of y'all are not going to be here. That's what I said. The 10 games that they had, they should be going 8-2,
Starting point is 00:37:57 and this loss was not calculated in that. No. There's been a few losses to the Knicks last night as well. Very disappointed. You said they lost three out of the last four? Three out of the last four. So Mavs, Spurs, and Knicks, they beat the Spurs one. If they don't go undefeated after winning the championship, what was the point?
Starting point is 00:38:14 Yeah. It's fair. How you feeling about the Spurs? You're a Los Angelino now. How you feel about this Lakers? You know I'm a Celtics girl. But you're a Los... I don't really care about the Lakers like that.
Starting point is 00:38:24 But you're a Los Angelino, right? Bron is still doing way too much. Yes. We had a triple-double last night. Like, he does everything. It's too much. Him and AD, I'm really glad. I'm very happy with the way AD is playing, though.
Starting point is 00:38:38 Yes. He's playing at a very high level. I don't know what the rest of them are doing. Prince shooting way too many threes. 13-3 attempts made three. Played more minutes than AD, I believe, against the Knicks. Yeah, it's just not really making sense. So?
Starting point is 00:38:50 Nobody on the team has a real role, I don't think, other than Bron and AD. You said, like, LeBron's doing too much. And Cam, I would say. We talk about LeBron doing too much all the time. I was just saying, like, if he's going to do it, do it, bro. If you can do it, do it. Don't be fucking pigeon-toeing, walking around like, ah like I want to take a break here take a break there man if you could throw 35 minutes a game and go out there and do 32 a game 32 points a game why not my
Starting point is 00:39:14 nigga this is December so what they need him in March so he ain't never not been ready when when does when does self-accountability kicks in as a player? At which part? How many shooters in the league right now you are comfortable with
Starting point is 00:39:40 taking 13 threes? Not many. Keegan Murray. Okay. That was because he was feeling it. Steph, Clay. He's a real,
Starting point is 00:39:48 him and Steph and Clay. Right, you got some real top. I don't even think KD has taken 13 threes. That's a lot. 13 is a lot. Right? For a non-shooter.
Starting point is 00:40:01 So, for a guy who is a spot up and just a guy who's there for defense, the fact that you are taking 13 shots. That was his only shot. 13 shots. Only three. All threes. Is a lot. Yes.
Starting point is 00:40:15 Now 13 threes. The reason that you can have 13 threes is because they want you. Where was, hey, coach, I'm open. There's a reason you're open. There's a reason you're open. You're open for a reason. All right, motherfucker, because you can't shoot. The balls that you have to even chuck that shit up. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:32 The fact that even three went in. Three went in made you want to keep shooting more. That's the worst thing about a bad shooter. If it goes in, like, oh, this motherfucker. He going to be shooting that shit all night. And we don't know if it's going to go in or not. We just got to let this nigga shoot. That's the thing. I wonder what his, night. And we don't know if it's going to go in or not. We just got to let this nigga shoot. That's the thing.
Starting point is 00:40:45 I wonder what his, like, because I haven't watched the game. To your point, KD, most threes he's taken is nine in two games this season. Wow. That's crazy. So you shoot more threes than KD. That's what I'm saying. It's like, I look at it like that. Like, the best shooters, the guys who got that clip, they don't even take 13.
Starting point is 00:41:00 Even Steph getting up 13, like, that's, like, on the higher end for Steph. But it depends. What kind of game he's had what shots are they? That's why I'm gonna like this 13 for swing swing in the corner shots. You gotta shoot though. I gotta shoot though No, you don't got it. No, you do not One dribble or pass it back So the nigga that just swung it down wide open. You opened. Swing, swing, boom. And you just, because you opened, you just feel you should be able to shoot. Because the coach keep telling me, shoot that shit when you open, bro.
Starting point is 00:41:32 So let's talk about the coach a little bit. How many did he shoot? Did he make one, miss a few, make one, miss a few? That's what I want to know. Yeah, yeah. Or did he make all three and then he just missed? It was unfortunate in the fourth quarter watching them try to come back and just keep breaking three after three after three after three. Let's just say, like Jared Jeffries.
Starting point is 00:41:49 Yes. He was always open on a swing swing. He was. If he took 13 threes, he better not play no more, coach. He better not, don't put him in the game no more. Like 0 for 13? I don't give a fuck what it is. It's 13 threes.
Starting point is 00:42:02 Unless you went eight for 13. Six. Then maybe. Six for 13. Six, I'd be like, all right. That's solid. When did you hit them? You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:42:11 When did you hit them? Did it help us win? But the fact that a non-shooter, you're not in the game to be shooting three, you're hurting the team. Pissed me off. I pissed. Like, go in, I'd rather you just go go go for the layup take 13
Starting point is 00:42:25 meetings or 13 layups but just sitting there chucking it you're helping the defense you're doing exactly what the defense wants they used to be the worst part of your defensive player get that confidence they won't score the whole game I think I'll be putting the motherfuckers in again they want to get maybe like man what you doing bro I'm being aggressive. I know. Being aggressive on you. So let's talk about the coaching a little bit, because there's somebody who could have stopped that at 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12. The person in charge.
Starting point is 00:42:53 Darvin Hamm is starting to feel the heat from Lakers fans. So, Gil, how would you grade Hamm as a coach, and what adjustments should he make to get the most out of this current roster prior to making any potential moves? After January 15th, say. I'm going to start questioning. I'm not going to put too much questioning on him as a coach
Starting point is 00:43:19 right now, but he should start evaluating that you do have Prince and D'Lo. If D'Lo's not giving you at least... How many shots did D'Lo have? Ain't no fucking way that Prince... I think he had less than Prince. Should have more shots than D'Lo.
Starting point is 00:43:35 For sure. Like, D'Lo, when we were winning, look at what you were doing. When we were winning, when we was rolling, look at how you were playing. That means if you're not playing that way, you're hurting the team. Like some of these guys think they can come in, average 10 and 6. You're hurting the team. D-Lo, 10 shots, 3 for 10, 3 for 6 from 3. But I told you he wasn't going to keep that up.
Starting point is 00:43:56 That energy you was giving him, he was playing well when you were doing it. But I was like, he's not going to sustain that. I don't need my third option coming off the bench. I'm sorry. Not when I have two guys in the lineup that ain't going to shoot anyway. How many did Austin Reeves? Who's that starting five? Who's that starting five?
Starting point is 00:44:11 So starting five, Anthony Davis, Prince, LeBron James, Cam Reddish, D'Angelo Russell. I got Cam Reddish who's not. Look at my team. I got Cam Reddish who don't shoot like that. He ain't going to take shots. Capable shooter, though. But what I'm saying, he's not taking shots. D-Lo doesn't take shots.
Starting point is 00:44:28 Prince ain't a shooter. That's three guys that I have that they're not really giving me no production. So as a coach, right, what offense do you have to have three of these
Starting point is 00:44:39 motherfuckers in? You have them in for defense? Post-heavy. Throw it in AD. Okay, post-heavy. I got Cam got cam i'm just gonna focus on ad what the fuck you gonna do ad get the ball my guy cam's guy is gonna be looking at ad right prince guy's gonna be looking at ad everybody's sitting in the lane we're just gonna sit there yeah pass it to them what the fuck they're gonna do yep let them shoot it but. That should be the game plan, right?
Starting point is 00:45:05 That is the game plan. Even if AD cooks, which he's gonna do. But he's cooking on five. Yeah. But what I'm saying is you don't have that support from the rest of that squad. When he misses, if he having an off game. But even if we do have a good game, what the rest of you Negroes doing? He really needs to go in there and just say, hey, listen, D-Lo, please do not.
Starting point is 00:45:24 When this game ends, motherfucker, you better have 15 shots. Amen. When the game ends, you better have 15 shots or I'm taking the starting line. Because you're playing like a bench player. Right. You're playing like a bench player. I do not need you taking 10 shots. I need you.
Starting point is 00:45:41 Fuck how many. Guarantee me 15 shots. Can you do that, son? Let me ask you this. Between LeBron and AD, is it enough if they were to keep the score under 100? Or even close to like 90, right? They don't have enough defense. They don't have enough defense to keep it under 90.
Starting point is 00:46:00 But what's the combined points between those two? Like 50 something? So that the rest of the points is coming from D'Lo Austin. So Austin Reeves coming off the bench played there. It's 15 shot Not really. Yeah, 20 piece Tristan. What is it Christian would? There's a note within we know he's not in fact. We got coach decision last night. What is Rui doing Rui? Place 17 minutes last night had a points what is Rui doing? Rui played 17 minutes last night, had 8 points, 3 for 6, 1 for 2. He should be in for Prince or
Starting point is 00:46:30 Cam. I don't need both of you. Rui should be in front of one of them. I don't need both. I need more scoring. I need more scoring with LeBron and AD to relieve pressure off LeBron and AD. Where are you going to get that scoring from?
Starting point is 00:46:46 That's what I'm saying. Did you put Austin Reeves back in the starting lineup? Yeah, did you bring him back in and you ask him to do more? Limon Papa. Where's Gabe Vinson at? Where the fuck is he? Oh, yeah, he's in Miami. He's still hurt.
Starting point is 00:46:59 He's still hurt. Oh, what the fuck is he doing? Nah, because I would be scared that they need. And that's that bullshit, because did we get him hurt already? Kendrick Nunn. Y'all got the Kendrick Nunn shit. Did we get him already hurt? When did he get hurt?
Starting point is 00:47:13 Pat Riley wouldn't have put up with this shit. No, but Kendrick came from Miami, too, and didn't play when he was with the Lakers. And this Gabe Vincent doing the same shit. Same shit. And Gabe was always available. He was always available. That's what's weird. Pat Runny got some secret sauce over that motherfucker.
Starting point is 00:47:30 He cultured, dude. We gonna put this on you. We gonna rub this on you. That he cultured. That he cultured. That secret tussin' over there. Gabe would be huge for them, I think. So let's talk about a bigger issue facing this squad. LeBron's only missed two games this season.
Starting point is 00:47:45 He's averaging 34 minutes per game. AD has only missed two games this season. Yeah, AD. Lakers are currently the eighth seed, 15-12. Have some solid assets, but will likely need to wait until January 15th to make a significant move. Gil, put on your GM cap.
Starting point is 00:48:03 Already did. Gil Palenka. I did a long Already did. Gil Palenka. I did a long time ago. Gil Palenka. Who do you expect the Lakers to move with the Devils? Rui Dilo and Prince. Who do you feel like you're going to get back in return? We're going to get back Zach Levine. Really?
Starting point is 00:48:18 You want Zach Levine. And those three you're giving, you feel like Levine makes up for their production? Are you hitting the buyout market trying to bolster your roster? Yes, he does. 20-something points. By the time he come back, then Vincent and B wasn't ending. We have a backup point. We got our point guard. Yeah, we good. We good. We ain't gave up nothing, really. We gave up three guys that average a total of probably 22. You think he'll be okay being the third option? Who?
Starting point is 00:48:47 Zach. Yeah. Because his third option is, he's the third option, but he's really the first option guard. He's the first option guard. He takes a lot of shots.
Starting point is 00:48:59 We need someone who's going to relieve pressure. Like, think about it. Just him on the court. If him and Austin Reeves are on the court, no one is looking at LeBron and AD anymore. We can't, those two guys can't, but if I'm guarding, like, think about it.
Starting point is 00:49:14 If I'm guarding Cam, Cam's going to take six shots in 30 minutes. I'm going to folk, right? So if I got someone who's going to take shots, I'm not going to leave my guy. I see what you see now. I see what you see. Zach and Austin being able to move and roam, and they're great IQ players.
Starting point is 00:49:31 So they'll open it up for AD and LeBron, both for slash and opportunity. It's a whole different. Yeah, yeah, I see it. I see it. It makes sense. I like it a lot. Like I said, but you got to bring a point guard in. So if you're going to get rid of D-Lo, you got to bring somebody in.
Starting point is 00:49:44 You ain't got nothing now. We got Austin. At the point? For the most part, that's what he plays. We picking him up. We blitzing him. We picking him up. They don't do that.
Starting point is 00:49:53 I don't see much of a risk. They don't do that no more. They do. When he bring it up. Who's blitzing him? We own his... What? Who is we?
Starting point is 00:50:01 Huh? Salt and pepper. Huh? Who is we? Huh? Who is we? Anybody smell that pork? Well, whatever. Nobody brings it up anymore. I mean, no one presses anymore like that. They absolutely do. So you roll a lemon daddy at the point?
Starting point is 00:50:12 Yeah, I roll a lemon daddy at the point. Until we get to Miami. Bring somebody with Zach, though. Gabe didn't ever lose a ball up in Miami, did he? Caruso back over? Bring Caruso back over? No, he was straight to the corner. You bring Caruso back over with Zach? Ooh.
Starting point is 00:50:28 Not to start him. I don't think the Bulls would give you... They love him in Chicago. I don't... They're not giving him. They're not giving him. They're going to use him. They're going to use him.
Starting point is 00:50:37 I don't want a non-shooter with LeBron in them. Like, when LeBron is really thriving, there's shooters around him. No, but you... I think about Boobie Gibson and Mo Williams and Delonte West. They shot that shit.
Starting point is 00:50:51 No, but they also dominated the ball in a way where they needed a defensive player on the floor. With this, if you have your point guard as the non-shooter,
Starting point is 00:51:00 everyone else is going to get shots. Everyone else going... He ain't even worried about nothing. I can tell you, when he had Eric Snow on that court, I'm not even guarding Eric Snow. Where's
Starting point is 00:51:13 Braun at? I'm not even guarding Eric Snow. But you know what Eric Snow's doing? He's setting the screen for AI. But when Damon Jones came in, I was like, alright. As long as there's a threat, as long as I know know there's a guy who can shoot it kind of keeps me away And that's what ends up happening with LeBron sometimes when they be having these defensive lineups, right? You put Caruso you put all these guys who can't shoot the ball. It just makes it harder for ad. Yep
Starting point is 00:51:39 That's when you got to switch the offense up man. You can't be stagnant in your strategy. Shit, switch it up. Man, they need that. What happened to the old pistol cuts and shit like that? None of that. None of that. Pass and watch. Hulk cut. Hulk 45. Hulk 45 on the backside with the down screen.
Starting point is 00:51:55 Yeah. Down screen back like. What? Into the dribble handoff. See, we talked that shit. He really been in. He really been in the trenches. You know the terminology, all the plays and all that shit.
Starting point is 00:52:04 That's why I host and I let that shit. That's why I host. And I let you host. That's what I'm saying. There's a whole bunch of LeBron, James, AD. This is a simple play. You got three players, right? LeBron, James, Anthony Davis at the free throw line, LeBron at the... You got D'Lo or Austin Reeves on the side.
Starting point is 00:52:26 Left side. Hard cut. Yep. Right? Hard cut. If you don't play that right, LeBron James is coming off the... Wide open. Yeah, they don't do any action.
Starting point is 00:52:36 They just do exchanges on the back side. If you help, pick and roll Anthony Davis. Right away. No help. Anthony Davis is rolling. LeBron's replacing. I mean, you got a call. That's what's great.
Starting point is 00:52:48 You can't stay in the help down there because LeBron's coming up, nigga. That's why the Warriors were so good because they run the head off of that. They're the only team that still runs some type of offense. Step passes, comes off, runs around, comes off another screen, layup. You're helping. That's what distracts me. My shoe's being untied, and I'm not even moving. That's what distracted Draymond. My shoes being untied and I'm not even moving. That's what used to distract Draymond in that offense though.
Starting point is 00:53:09 Like, when they were running that offense, they were the best team in the league because they were the only team playing fucking basketball. Playing back, yeah. Now let's talk about a team that's playing basketball at a very high level. We got two Celtics fans here on this couch. Woo! Let's go. They're trying to raise their 18th banner as well. Celtics, the best team in the league right now,
Starting point is 00:53:30 tied with the Timberwolves. 14-0, and have won 20 straight home games. You fucking drunk. 21-2. Y'all need to reach, though. There have been three other Celtics teams that started the season 12-0 at home or better, and they each reached the NBA Finals.
Starting point is 00:53:44 Two of them lost, though. I feel like one won. Celtics are sixth in offensive rating, second in defensive rating, and have the second highest net rating in the league right now. So I'll ask our Celtics fans first, our resident Celtics fans, lifelong.
Starting point is 00:53:57 Is it championship or bust for the Celtics this season? Yes. Or bust? Yeah, it's time. Especially for Jason and Jalen. Mm-hmm. Because I was, at first, I loved them together. Then there was like a little span where I didn't like them so much.
Starting point is 00:54:16 They've won me back over. But now they need to win, or they're going to try and blow that up. Which I don't want them to, but... The game is the game is. It's been a good show. It's been a good show thus far. How many years? About five years?
Starting point is 00:54:33 They've been together as a core. And even with the Marcus Smart years, it was a good run. But I like this team especially just because they were able to take a piece from another team. Two other teams, actually, that actually needed to go places that fit them. And I think Drew fits Boston more than he did Milwaukee. And I think Przingis, this is his best fit ever just because of the culture.
Starting point is 00:54:57 He fits the culture. So when you look at it all, it's like, all right, what can Boston do to take it over the top? The bench. That's it. The fucking bench. And they're looking to add some bench depth. They have some assets that were reported by Shams recently.
Starting point is 00:55:12 So they're going to wait to see what the trade market looks like, buyout market looks like. But let's talk about Joe Mizzou a little bit. So he got that interim tag removed after the season, got an undisclosed extension. But how much pressure is on Joe Mizzoula to bring another band or boss in this season? I Mean I think the the most pressure is on Jason and Jalen and then I think the coach it's like right under But I think he's done a great job And I think I always thought I always thought it was funny when Brad Stevens
Starting point is 00:55:43 Left that and went to the front office because people were like, he failed up. But he's doing a great, he's doing a good job up there. So, I mean, I think he still has his hands all over that team. And I think he's doing a good job. Yeah, for sure. The jury's still out on Joe for me just because it was E-May's team. It's another Mark Jackson thing for me. Mark Jackson kind of gave this type of confidence to those young guys. Steph and Clay back then, and now I'm looking at it like, okay, Joe, as he gets the credit
Starting point is 00:56:16 for what he made, kind of started in that culture where Jalen and Jason can actually get along and they actually look good together. I think the years that she's talking about was the years before he was Brad, right? Yeah, and they just couldn't find that niche right and now they found it and it actually looks fucking good It's promising so we can't give up on it yet. I think that's the big thing is Trying to make sure that if we don't make it this year that you build on it You can't give up for Zingas. You can't give up drew. You got't give up Przingis. You can't give up Drew. You got to give it another year. You think they can get Jordan Clarkson?
Starting point is 00:56:48 Ooh, that would be incredible. If they do, that'd be unfortunate. That would be incredible. I would love that for us. For Celtic haters near and far. I just don't know if they have enough, but... Yeah, they do. You think they have enough to get him?
Starting point is 00:57:00 His asset value is declining. Who, Jordan Clarkson's? He's been there too long. Come on, Jordan. Come on to Boston. On the bench. And it's them. It's like he got to go somewhere else so he can build his value back up.
Starting point is 00:57:12 Yeah, I think he would be a great six-man for them. So since Tatum's been drafted in 2018, Celtics have been to three conference finals, one NBA finals. No banner. No banner. It's good for a conference finals, one NBA finals. No banner. No banner. It's good for a young player, though. Yeah. As the Celtics fans kind of view of Missoula changed a little bit, too,
Starting point is 00:57:32 I think playoffs last season looked like he was getting circles ran around him. Now, getting that year under his belt. He was an intern. What did that mean? What did they expect? The interim. The intern, I mean. I mean, they started to see, what, they 25?
Starting point is 00:57:47 20 or 5. 14 and 0 at home. Hey. Whatever his contract was, he should chalk that up and get a new one. Do the Gil. Playing well. Like, I mean, right now. With two new starting players.
Starting point is 00:58:00 Yeah, that starting five is averaging, what? A league high in 95 points. Second would have been Dallas, but the third best player comes off the bench. If I'm looking at Monte Williams' contract and I'm Joe... Give me that. Hey, Joe. Hey, Joe. Hey, Joe. Hey, Joe, you better go in there with the right paperwork because Monte and them fucking it up over there. Who reported that Zach Levine was going to the Kings?
Starting point is 00:58:32 Sam Hammock basically for the Athletic said it could be an option. Athletic who? The Athletic, it's a brand publication. Oh. You don't like it? They always be saying some wild stuff. You don't like it? They always be saying some wild stuff. You don't like it? No, that's not possible.
Starting point is 00:58:49 Why? Huh? Yeah. That's horrible. No. Herder, Barnes. They're going to Herder and Barnes? And somebody else.
Starting point is 00:58:58 Get them out of there. Trey Lyle. I mean, yeah, Lyle. Get Lyle. Them three for Zach. So two starters? You're going to get rid of two starters? So you're going to get two starters? Yes.
Starting point is 00:59:06 Because they ain't... For Zack, yes. If you think about it, look, Malik Monk's supposed to be a starter. He should not be coming off the bench. It should be Fox, Monk, Zack, Murray, Sabonis in the West. They're going to get their... They're too small. How? What is it? Six, six, six, six. In the West they're gonna get that this is too small how? Was it six six six six six six six six six seven who's six seven is that? Monk six five play like he's six
Starting point is 00:59:43 No, he's a big guard he's a big guy, but he don't play like it he be hanging out three-point line They want to duck on people That's it. We're Kevin Hart. Yeah, that's Kevin. It's a nice. It's a big guard, but he don't play like it. He be hanging out at the three-point line, and he want to dunk on people. That's it. With Kevin Hart, yeah, that's Kevin. It's a nice exchange. Who are you going to get rid of? Herter. Uh-huh. Kevin Herter.
Starting point is 00:59:55 Barnes. Uh-huh. Now you need somebody else. And I was thinking Trey Lyles. Lyles makes what, $6 million? Lyles makes $8 million this year. $8 million. He got another year on his deal harrison barnes it's a good piece it's a good piece for them no barnes and hurt are under
Starting point is 01:00:09 contract through 2026 but the problem is yeah i know it it works it works both ways even player why it works for them player wise it works financially but the problem with that is they don't who do you have coming off the bench for uh the kings yeah we had to get something because you have no nothing their whole bench is the Kings? Yeah. We had to get something. Because you have nothing. Their whole bench is worth $41 million. They got the point guard, Mitchell. Mitchell's coming off the bench, and I think one more guy. That's solid.
Starting point is 01:00:35 They not, I mean, you would need something else. That's what they have. That's a solid five for the West, bro. That's solid. It's a small five with no bench. That's why their whole bench is only worth $41 million. Like, every player on that bench
Starting point is 01:00:48 totals up to $41 million. So you have to trade two starters, three starters to get them, or two starters and a bench player. Two starters, bench guy, probably first.
Starting point is 01:00:57 Two starters, bench, but you don't have no, you have nothing coming off that bench that's worth anything in the playoffs. So it's a bad move for them. You just don't have enough.
Starting point is 01:01:08 I mean, are they going to make that trade to win now? Or they're going to be in the... Well, because you can't win now with no bigs and no bench. They can make a run. They can make a run. Kings just need an injection. That's it. Confidence. We can get there. And Kings just need an injection. That's it. Confidence.
Starting point is 01:01:27 We can get there. And we got a good court, momentum in the next year. Then you go into free agency. You can pick a point. Yeah, I feel like maybe they'll be starting their building block from the next year. Does that big three of the Aaron Fox, Levine, and Sabonis scare you at all? I like it. I like it.
Starting point is 01:01:42 It's a threat in the West? But I see it as a four because Malik Monk's on a merge. It's a threat in the West but It's a threat to that wallet in in in In Sacramento, Zach Levine makes 40 million They can't afford that come on to the lake. Baby. We got a we got deep pockets over here, baby We get we'd absorb $40 million and just, oh, what's happening? King Jar, bro. Boyfriend, bro.
Starting point is 01:02:11 You don't need that. Hey, you are the Cheesecake Factory in the dating pool, and we know the ladies don't want none of that. Zach, if you've been watching how the Lakers treat their players, niggas, stay away. Stay away, Zach. You see how the Lakers treat their players. They wouldas. Stay away. Stay away, Zach. You see how the Lakers treat their players? They would like Zach Levine, though.
Starting point is 01:02:27 Some. Huh? Some. He's got a clutch umbrella, though. It's a different... Russell Westbrook should be the only example of... Not clutch. ...how Lakers treat their...
Starting point is 01:02:35 Not clutch. Not in the clutch family. Oh, he got to be clutch. He got to be clutch. Oh, yeah. You can protect him. New death, bro. You better put this chain on.
Starting point is 01:02:42 You can take your ass ass. My bad. You better put this chain on. I fucked that all the way. Y'all was trying to throw me the line too. Clutch, clutch. They literally have a monopoly over the damn NBA. That was the plan. They accomplished what they set out to do.
Starting point is 01:02:58 How many clutch players will they have on the Lakers if they make that Zach trade happen? Like four or five, right? That's crazy. Crazy. Good for them. But let's talk about the other team in Los Angeles with a very special hibachi time.
Starting point is 01:03:14 Shout out to our production team. They be on it. I be throwing them curve balls. No warning. James Harden. Let's talk about the beard. We gave Kawhi love yesterday. Got to give the beard some love today. So it was a vintage James Harden let's talk about the beer we gave Kawhi love yesterday got to give the beard some love today
Starting point is 01:03:26 So it was a vintage James Harden game on Monday Drop 35 and 9 on the Pacers 21 points in the fourth quarter including a stretch where he dropped 18 straight There we go. That's all we need and even had Kawhi Leonard showing some emotions as well Look at that special look what these Clippers are here doing running up the score Let's look at hard reaction snow angel look how happy Scoring vortex. Oh, my. Harden was 12 for 16 from the field, 8 for 11 from three. So after the Clippers dropped a season-high 144 points against the Knicks this past weekend, put up 151 points on the Pacers to win their A-Striker game.
Starting point is 01:04:19 So, Gil, if the Clippers can stay healthy, are they a legit threat to come out of the West, or are the Cl clips going to clip? They're good because they can all score. The only problem is going to be is if they're not hitting shots, how will they put the ball in the basket? Because they don't move. If you look at those plays, James Harden's open three is because someone doubled and they passed it out. The other three, you're playing one-on-one basketball while everyone's standing. The one thing that would change is moving without the ball. When James Harden is doing his thing, people are cutting.
Starting point is 01:04:58 People are moving. There's more movement and action versus just four guys that are just sitting around a three-point line. Because when those shots are not falling, you can get buried. And that's what I'm afraid that's going to happen in the playoffs if they don't implement, yo, cut, backdoor, slash. Like, think about how Denver, think about how, like, KCP gets his shots. Think about how Aaron Gordon gets his shots. If the Clippers think like that, like, when I don't have it, let me just move. Let me go back.
Starting point is 01:05:27 This is a player thing. This is not a coach thing, right? Because the coach was a corner dude. He was atmosphere. He was like this. Just sit somewhere in the corner and when we get it to you, we'll swing it. But he has to be more like that guy that, right, if I'm
Starting point is 01:05:44 sitting here and My guy is looking I come set a back pick move right? Let's switch on a weak side just random shit that just makes it look like there's motion in this office versus just everyone just sitting and just What do you think about the league right when we introduced a new style of play? You start to see a standardized way of the offense being ran. I think that with the Clippers team, they all understand the breakdown of the offense when it gets down to 10 seconds, where whether it's pick and roll or any actions that we're doing, we're going to end up with the ball and the pick and roll at the top. That's what's happening when we
Starting point is 01:06:21 see James taking them tough shots. So the three, it's not action like the Paul George, throw it out, I'm being doubled, blah, blah, blah. It's, all right, break down the offense, break down the offense, who got it to take that last shot? So when you got that type of offense in this new generation, they got a better way or a better chance of winning out because of that style of play. They got three players that can play like that.
Starting point is 01:06:42 They got three players that can play with the shot clock going down. So anytime that the execution breaks down, they can depend on three different guys. And then I look at Russ and I'm like, damn, man, I want to feel bad for you, but it's a good situation to be on the second unit and thrive and keep this thing that y'all got going alive without being a bad teammate. But I think he got the raw deal of it.
Starting point is 01:07:09 Is he thriving, though? I think that he is. Just because he's still, when you see him play, he's smiling. He's happy. He's still happy about it. That's the hardest thing in the world. Because I feel like he's one of the truer professionals. So I really don't know if he's actually, like, happy doing that. Let's talk about Westbrook.
Starting point is 01:07:27 Before we do that, let's talk about Westbrook. Westbrook's been the odd man out in the aftermath of the Harden trade. So he reportedly made the offer to come off the bench, kind of saw the way
Starting point is 01:07:36 things were going. But he is making the most of those limited minutes. During the Clippers' win streak, Westbrook's only playing about 17 minutes per game, but he's averaging 9.5 rebounds, 3 assists, shooting 53% from the field, nearly 37% from three. So how much
Starting point is 01:07:50 of Westbrook's selflessness and leadership has impacted the Clippers' success? A lot. I'm going to give him that. I'm going to give it to him. Whether it's really his idea or not. I think what it did help is it helped the coach. Mm-hmm. Yep. Right? It's, you know, as a coach, right, benching him has him looking at you sideways.
Starting point is 01:08:16 That's a... For him to volunteer, it kind of takes off, it takes away that negativity of it. Right? You know, even though you guys are probably like, yeah, I want to bring him off the bench. The fact that he said, hey, hey, hey, don't worry about me, coach.
Starting point is 01:08:29 I'll come off the bench, run your offense. It kind of like, it kind of, it's what Darvin Ham should have allowed when he was with the Lakers. Then you wouldn't have had a disgruntled, you know, player. Like not wanting to be a part of it. So he's in the same role he was then, but now look at him on the bench. He's happy as hell.
Starting point is 01:08:50 But Gil, the difference being, I'll go to the bench for James Harden. I'm not going to the bench for Lemon Daddy. No, no, that's facts. But I'm just saying, it's a different situation on the Clippers side. But a player who wants to win can see the writing on the wall. Yes. Sometimes, that's what I said, sometimes I think coaches and media, you know, sometimes, you know, I do it too. We don't give a player the benefit of the doubt of being smart.
Starting point is 01:09:15 But I can see, like, this shit ain't clicking for me. I'm not clicking with this unit. I click better with this unit. When I was in Orlando, right, and I remember we were winning. I was playing very well. And the paper was writing, when is he going to start already? And I went to Jermaine Nelson. I don't want to start. I love playing with
Starting point is 01:09:33 J.J. Reddick now, right? Brandon Bass. I love this second unit because we just push that bitch, shoot it. It puts me in a style. I don't have to worry about Turk or Luke. He understood what I was talking about. I'm not here for your position, I like this second unit, it fits my style better. That gave him a relief not stressing like he got to make shots, he got to make plays
Starting point is 01:09:55 because he knew I wasn't after that spot. You have to give players a chance to really look at themselves, look at each other and be like, yo, Lexi, you're better at this. Don't worry about me. I'll tell Coach that I'm coming off the bench. Free game. Free game, right? Bless us.
Starting point is 01:10:12 Buy in to what the coach's vision is, and you will be the coach's best friend. Ty Lue said in the beginning of the season, he's like, man, best thing happened to us is Russell Westbrook. What did Russ do immediately? He bought in. First time they had a leader in that core IPGA.
Starting point is 01:10:29 The coaches all have an ego to want these grown-ass men to buy in to what they fucking want to deliver, but they don't know how to ask us to. So they expect us to. So when you got a player like Russ that's automatically understanding what he's saying without him saying it, like, okay, I'm going to have to buy in.
Starting point is 01:10:46 He sees something I don't see. I'm going to have to come off the bench. Let's just see how it work. If it don't work, he better have a plan B or a plan C, or I'm looking at you like, you know what the fuck you doing, Ty Lue? What the fuck we doing over here? Right? So if I'm going to trust and buy into it, just like all the other players out there,
Starting point is 01:11:02 you're trying to figure out should you trust your coach or not. At Carolina, the number one thing was buy-in. We got Roy came in, buy-in. Can you buy-in? Can you trust what he's saying and do what he's saying? Same thing with any other rookie year, third year, fourth,
Starting point is 01:11:17 whatever year it was, it was new coach. Are you going to buy-in to what they selling? Because if you don't... But the thing about, to your point about the buy-in though, now Clippers win eight straight games, a lot easier to buy- what they're selling? Because if you don't... But the thing about, to your point about the buy-in, though, now Clippers win eight straight games. A lot easier to buy in. It's working.
Starting point is 01:11:30 Now Clippers lose eight straight games. It's like, wait a minute, motherfucker, you're playing 17 minutes a game and we ain't winning shit. It makes it a little bit easier. But you guys have all been in locker rooms. How tough is it to have a player like that who's maybe not playing as much as they want to that could go the other side, that could be a destructive force in that locker room, could be a locker room cancer like people say even if they are winning still bitter still miserable
Starting point is 01:11:49 And I think the West was credit being a UCLA guy obviously a school that produces men of strong character and high value But buying in goes both ways though to be honest. It's it's this is a team right and when you're talking about team the concept of a team is it has to be able to expand and fluctuate. So whatever idea a coach has coming into training camp, that training camp should change your idea if something is off, right? You can say, oh, this is the lineup I want well if this guy Doesn't fit you have to be quick enough to change it because the players that looking at this week, dude He's getting the food that he don't supposed to be getting Has now turned on you if you're keeping them there right like your idea of
Starting point is 01:12:47 This is what you want your starting lineup to look like if he he didn't earn that position, if he didn't earn those minutes, if he didn't earn those, you lose respect from everyone else. So you have to be able to adjust as a coach also. Yeah, because we're losing trust. Because we're losing trust. Like, man, you putting him in. We even lost four straight games with him doing it. Why is he still there? He getting beat back door every time.
Starting point is 01:13:02 Back door every time. You put him in for defense. He can't hit no shots. You're like, yo, let me try. I can throw 13 motherfucking shots up. 13? I can throw 13 threes up. Let it rain. Come on, man. Let it rain.
Starting point is 01:13:16 You know, as a coach, you have to be aware also and understand like, yeah, I might go into the game. That's what I said when Ty Lou said, your bones, you're not in that rotation. That irks the fuck out of me.
Starting point is 01:13:31 It irks me. How the fuck can you tell a kid that he's not in your rotation? How the fuck do you know? There might be a game you put him in and boom, he got 30. Like, Cam Thomas wasn't in a rotation. You got to talk about that. Camomas wasn't in a rotation you got to talk about cam thomas wasn't in a rotation cam thomas wasn't in their plans to start at all well
Starting point is 01:13:52 them two games them two games him coming out there saying now oh shit hey hey what we need to do adjust Adjust it. The Ken Thomas State project. So you don't know what bones, you got bones on the bench, you're not giving them. You do not know. Wow, that's a big statement. You don't know. It's over their head, though, Gil. You really got to, why doesn't he know? Because he has the ability to show out at any given moment you put him in.
Starting point is 01:14:18 Talent is talent. Turn the game around. You didn't even know he was going to do this. He came in, 12 points, eight minutes. You don't know. Then you'd be like, okay, 12 minutes, hey, let me go try you again now his confidence is building now he might be the link that you're looking for in a trade and that's the buy-in you're talking about from the other side but both yeah that's what i'm saying into the player you buy into my work
Starting point is 01:14:37 at the buy-in that i would do the right thing like that's what i'm saying that it's it's it's a it's an ecosystem that needs to be built. Yeah. Like, if you're saying, hey, Bones, we need you to come in three, four times a day, this and this and this, and he's buying into this work ethic,
Starting point is 01:14:53 and you're not rewarding him. You gotta reward him. You're not rewarding him. You're not letting him come in the game. You keep D and P. Well, I think that's a, when he says you're not
Starting point is 01:15:01 on the rotation, that's such a lazy approach from a coach. Oh. Like, now you're... It's demoralizing. Yeah, now he's pissed. He might be pouting.
Starting point is 01:15:09 Maybe he's not coming in extra. And now you're like, oh, yeah, of course I'm not going to play you. Because look how you're acting. But you instilled that mindset into me when you told me that. When you could have said nothing. And then just, I'm just going to be prepared for the opportunity when it presents itself. And it's indefinite. We don't know how long this out ofof-the-rotation shit, what that means.
Starting point is 01:15:28 What does that even mean? What the fuck does that even mean? I like the word doghouse rather than out-of-the-rotation. That sentence alone, hey, bro, you're going to be out-of-the-rotation. Yeah, that gives you no clarity or information at all. How did I get outside of the rotation? Doghouse means you doing something that you're not supposed to be doing. Doghouse means, I don't know, when people
Starting point is 01:15:47 are like, yeah, you in the dog house. I don't know, what the fuck that's supposed to mean is that I go sleep there, but bitch, I'm coming out when I want to play. Like, I didn't. That ain't what the dog house is. That ain't what the dog house is. There ain't no door in my dog house. You can't lock me in here.
Starting point is 01:16:03 Your dog house is different than mine. His dog house is way different. My dog Dog houses I go to this wasp was Do I got a motherfucker door you lock it and they come by they come by clean the little cup against the little barbell. Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding. Like, we locked up in here. Give you your food and leave you there. But that's what I thought. Like, there's a coach that told me,
Starting point is 01:16:33 you know, college coach, Louisville coach, and when I interviewed him, we was talking with my daughter, and he said one thing is, he said, I want to win. Whatever happens on that court, remember, I want to win. Whatever happens on that court, remember, I want to win. I'm not going to penalize
Starting point is 01:16:49 myself and the team because of this. Right? So, if me and you ain't getting along, I can deal with it after. I can deal with it in practice. I'm not going to deal with it on the court. He said, I got players like, cuz man, fuck you, fuck you. And I, hey, are you ready to get back in the game?
Starting point is 01:17:05 Please. Go back in. Go back and win the game for it. That's coaching. That's a coach. That is a quality coach. That get me. I'm hype.
Starting point is 01:17:13 I'm hype after that. No matter what, you're going to cuss me out. You're the worst coach ever. Are you done? Now, can you go in the game and help us win? Now, get your ass back in there and hit the game winner. Right. Yes.
Starting point is 01:17:24 Bet. Bet. Bet. Bet. Bet. Versus you expressing yourself and then I penalize you. Oh, well, you're going to sit there for five, six, seven,
Starting point is 01:17:31 because that's hurting me too. Yeah. Right, and coaches got to understand that too. Like, do you want to win or do you want to teach? Do you want to like... They want to be right.
Starting point is 01:17:41 Or do you want to be right? It's not even about teaching. Do you want to be right? They kind of set examples in the middle, in real time. Yeah, but examples hurt you too. Yeah. And that's what they impulsively don't get. But they want to, especially in college, obviously be in control of the whole machine.
Starting point is 01:17:56 Yeah, they're in control. Whatever it is, my bag is still secure. Yeah. They want credit. They want credit. And they don't want to take the criticism. Yeah. And that's usually how it goes.
Starting point is 01:18:03 Yeah, I don't care. I don't care. I don't care. What you say to me as long as your buck is following. Because you done. Cool. One full flat. Go. Don't be lazy. Don't go out here complaining and they're not
Starting point is 01:18:17 getting buckets and not getting back on defense. I'm going to reward you, bro. That's what I said. There's the game. There's practice. There's the ego. We all have egos, but we have to understand when to release them. I'm going to reward you, bro. That's what I said. There's the game. There's practice. There's the ego. We all have egos, but we have to understand when to release them. I'm not going to try to prove myself right to prove you wrong because me proving my best player is wrong or this player or God, I can mess up your attitude, which affects the team itself.
Starting point is 01:18:40 Yeah, because it's going to win a very different way with Russ and Tyloo. Yep. Yes. Them both trying to prove their point, and then it would negatively impact the team. Indeed with the Lakers. And you also got to give some love to the Norman Powell. So Norman Powell's the starter of the game this season. He's averaging 13 points per game and 25 minutes per game. But 16 points per game during the streak. Him and Westbrook play very well together.
Starting point is 01:19:01 That's a consistent man. Yeah, very well together. Yeah, very professional. He's the hard hat guy. He's consistent. He Played very well together. Yeah, played very well. He's a professional. He's a hard hat guy. He's a hard hat. Another UCLA guy, so understand him. Blue collar.
Starting point is 01:19:09 We call him Blue Collar. Show up, do his job. Like even if we look at somebody like Mann, right, who ain't really doing much, right, probably there for defense, which is a weird thing for me because you got Kawhi and PG. And he's playing 28. You know what I mean? It's just that like- 28 minutes. Like how much defense do you need from the same position? You got quiet and PG and he's playing 28. I mean it just like 28 Like how much defense do you need from the same position like but like somebody like him, right?
Starting point is 01:19:30 I will rather have to be honest Pete a peach PJ Tucker The reason is I know pizza. She's gonna go offensive rebound. He gonna said random. Yeah. No ain't played He is a coach's decision, but that's what I'm saying. But like like him, I know he's going to do these little things that don't equate to stats. But it probably, he set a pick here, backdoored here, rebound here, passes to an open guy here. That equated to these points that helped the team win. And he still got 0-0-0-0-0. Hey, I'm running into PJ. I'm running into PJ out here. Hey, I ran into PJ. Hmm?
Starting point is 01:20:07 I ran into PJ out here. How are you feeling? In the streets? In the streets. You know, he's a North Carolina guy. We had a little conversation. He was not happy. Understandable, though. He was not happy.
Starting point is 01:20:18 I mean, of course he's not going to be happy. I don't want to tell you what he told me, because I'm going to classify it. But he's trying to but he ain't happy. I know. It ain't what he thought it was going to be. He ain't happy. You know what I'm saying? Of course.
Starting point is 01:20:33 I mean, just being on the bench when you know you can contribute is never going to be a hard pill to swallow. Yeah. So, P.J. Tucker last scored a point on November 14th. Last played in the game. Oh, my daughter's birthday. Damn. Wait, what did we say?
Starting point is 01:20:51 Who would win first? I lost. I lost. Oh. It was any of the three teams? I thought he was getting in the game, yeah. Oh, damn. What did we say?
Starting point is 01:20:59 Was it Spurs? Spurs, Detroit, and P.J. He was scoring before they won the game. Yeah. All right, well, let's keep this. He was scoring before they won the game. Yeah. All right, well, let's keep this thing moving. I think Tyrone did that. I mean, Ty Lue did that on purpose. He watched the show.
Starting point is 01:21:13 To give me an L. You know what is crazy is you say that, though. They got Mann, Kawhi, P.G., and P.J. Tucker all over there, and they ain't playing. Like, what? Like, you can't find no minutes for P.J.? Free that man. You can't get no shooters?
Starting point is 01:21:29 You ain't got no shooters. Well, fuck it up. They're probably going to buy him out. He's going to go to Boston or some shit. What's the funny thing? When you think about the Golden State Warriors, right, when you think about that championship run, you think about the Lakers when they were winning championship,
Starting point is 01:21:41 that second unit was powerful. It was. The second unit was powerful. It was. The second unit was the power, right? That's where Bones is. Yep. Right, you can have a second unit that's just as powerful as you started. They have a high power.
Starting point is 01:21:56 High power. You got Russ, you got... That's why you got Russ, Bones, and... I'm playing them all. Throw them in there. Throw them in there. Let them go. When I was in D.C., our second unit is sometimes the reason we came back. Steve Blake and them. Steve Blake and Juan Dixon. Them two.
Starting point is 01:22:13 Right there. They sitting there. They didn't need no defense. Assassins. That Maryland connection. Yeah, like Russ and Bones in the open floor. Russ and Bones in the open floor. Pity Pat.
Starting point is 01:22:24 Russ and Bones and Powell. Come? Russ and Bones in the open floor. Pity Pat, Pity Pat. Come on. And Powell. Yeah. What? That's your second unit starting five. PJ played a four. We throw somebody in there.
Starting point is 01:22:32 Miles Plumlee at the five. What's up? Think about the lineup. You got Russ with Bones and Powell. All fast. That's coming off your bench. All fast. I like that off your bench? All fast. I like that line-up, too.
Starting point is 01:22:48 Yeah, that's up. Russell B in heaven. Yeah. But it's defense then at that point. It's like they're giving up a lot of defense there. But then again, it's just going up. That's what we got to start in 5-4. No, no.
Starting point is 01:22:57 But you're going up against the other team's bench, so it's not that big of a deal. Think about what Steve was. What was it? Steve, Blade, Jordan Farmer. You had Shannon Brown there. Yep, yep, yep, yep. It was running.
Starting point is 01:23:10 Devin George. Because if you leave your starter in, and these guys are just coming in like, yo, Coach, sub me. Yes, I'm not trying to run up and down with these young fellas. So we did a poll. We asked are Clippers legit in the West legit threat 71% said yes Not in the head or mood today getting closer to holidays good you gave out 500 they got that money some lucky for them We just got to I thought we had one yesterday. We got two more. This your bread is coming
Starting point is 01:23:37 Do not hit me directly. I have nothing to do with it. Allow me to use social media piece Mine is every day. So I think I can only send $2,500 a week. Yeah, from the Cash App? Yeah, from the Cash App. A day. It's a day? No, it's a week.
Starting point is 01:23:53 It's a week? Oh, I thought it was a day. No, it's just period, just to cap that number. It's supposed to be the Cash App, not the broke boy. How you... Let this cash flow. So when you start using it at a certain point, you got to call them and they'll cap it. Oh, they'll...
Starting point is 01:24:03 You got to call them. Oh, yeah, because people start using it for like business and stuff. Oh, okay, yeah, because I was sending it to work. Yep. And I mean, you know, work a little 300, 400. They told me, it was like, I want to send some more to the word. It was like, you got to sign in. You got to max me out.
Starting point is 01:24:15 You got to sign in. I'm sorry, I'm sorry, Alan Henderson. You got to pay tax. You don't want to pay tax on your work? The word got $400 this week. Never, never. Oh, foundation charitable. Charitable.
Starting point is 01:24:24 Speaking of sending things to the work, the Timberwolves are tied for the best record in the league. Wow. I was never never Oh, thank you. Oh, they should share Things to the work the Timberwolves are tied for the best record in the league Man has been a great major reason why on Monday? We're gonna we got a dread like yeah, yeah, to address it, Joe, because I know. You saw that there was no addressing in this script. I don't know if it was you or if it was Jenny yesterday. That was an insane position. But they was laughing at his work. They was like, yo, your work don't look that good.
Starting point is 01:25:00 I did not comment on anybody's work. I did not comment on anybody's work. I did not comment on anybody's work. He from Atlanta. I'm not a work judge. I do not judge work. You got money to pay for something better than that. Let's talk basketball. No, no, no.
Starting point is 01:25:16 This is basketball. This is basketball IG right there. This is a basketball show. He's R&D'd it. Like, I looked at her IG, and I was like, ooh, if it looks like this on the filter... You know what it look like. Have you seen Lexi? I showed you.
Starting point is 01:25:30 Oh, you showed me. Oh, you... That was yesterday. Ladies and gentlemen, the show is going off the rails. This is their basketball show. I can see why he sent that money. It's your fault. I can see why he sent that money.
Starting point is 01:25:39 You did this. I'm talking positive basketball-related things. I can't even use my sender video. That is OnlyFans work for sure. That's't reuse my sender video joke. That is only fans work for sure. That's why we call that Dirty Butt. She's a Dirty Butt. So the Timberwolves are tied for the best record in the league. She's a DB. We call them DBs.
Starting point is 01:25:56 Don't be fucked with the DBs, Ant-Man. Don't fuck with the DBs, man. The Timberwolves are tied for the best record in the league and Ant-Man's been a major reason why. He scored 30 last night. On Monday, the Wolves overcame a 17-point deficit in Miami to beat the Heat. It was their seventh win this season, overcoming double-digit deficit, which is the best in the league.
Starting point is 01:26:14 They're 9-1 in their last 10 games. Now, as you pointed out, I'm sure you've seen the off-the-court news circulating about Ant-Man, a statement he released recently, which is a great discussion for the workshop. Rashad's podcast coming soon. I appreciate that, Chris. That's a work. That's a workshop It is it's not a guild arena on a person It's a definitely in-depth workshop
Starting point is 01:26:30 Yeah You guys have already alluded to the cover that course But I would like to talk about the broader topic of just Hoopers being able to tune out all the noise around them when they get on the court so For all three. Yeah, how are you guys able to compartmentalize potential or off-court issues and situations to still perform at your best when it mattered during games? Don't get in those situations. I feel like... It's obvious.
Starting point is 01:26:52 You said, how do I do that? That's how I do it. So you never had no situations, whatever they may be? No, not really. Ever? Bad day? Not really means there's something. Showing up to work bad day? Not enough for, like, something that warrants, like, everybody else's opinions and stuff.
Starting point is 01:27:10 But just drama, anything going on? Not anything particular? Turn the phone off, delete the apps, and just tune everything out. But never had just had a bad day? Never had one of those? Never had just a bad day? No, I had a bad day. But how do you tune out that noise to go in the corner?
Starting point is 01:27:28 Well, when I go play basketball, that's my happy place. So I get there and I'm cool, and then I'll deal with it later. Or I'll take a nap. That helps. Naps are essential. When I'm stressed or upset, I go to sleep. And I will deal with it when I wake up. Or maybe it'll be gone
Starting point is 01:27:45 by the time I wake up depending on how long the nap is oh yes I'm really curious although just you just ignore shit for long enough they forgot it it just goes away it really all depends on what it is right you know as a as you know just As just athletes, usually we can enter our sport, and that usually frees our mind. But sometimes there's some stuff that probably does linger onto the court, which makes it a little bit harder to get away from. Especially if it's like when you're talking about a girlfriend at home, like you're talking about someone cheated, a baby's not yours. Like, you know, it's hard to cut that off and go out there and play. Right? You know, I'm sitting here running from child support court to the court.
Starting point is 01:28:36 That ain't some easy thing. You can just let go and go and play basketball. Right? So when it starts affecting that, when it starts affecting your performance on the court, let it go. Like... Okay, good. Like I'm at the point in life where, and I tell my son, like happiness, like if you
Starting point is 01:28:59 see something, like if you see a trait in someone and you don't think that trait is going to help you in life. Get away. I don't give a fuck how good she looks, how much money they got. If the trait is a trait, get rid of it. If they're lazy, you don't like lazy people, you can't fix lazy. Insecure, if they're insecure, you can't fix that no matter what you do. If the person's insecure, that's something that they came into this relationship with, right? It ain't you that did something. They already had the insecurity in
Starting point is 01:29:31 it and then they're just putting it towards you. So you're never going to, no matter what you do, they're going to find a way to keep being insecure about situations. So if you can't handle that and let it go, don't be afraid to let go. I'll say this, man. Especially for the young men out there. You fall into a situation, you're off the court, and you're trying to figure out how to mitigate this energy, this bullshit coming in from left, right.
Starting point is 01:29:56 Look, go get a massage. I thought you were going to say something a little bit more profound. No, you have an argument. He's normal today, huh? You got to relax. You just got to learn to tone all of that shit out. By the time you get your relax, your release, and you flush everything out, man, you wake up and it's different. Your whole approach, especially before games, I used to always get massages before games.
Starting point is 01:30:23 You did? Whenever anything happened, I was already clear-minded I was already brief I was already focused so I would suggest for everybody to get a massage you know Ling Ling down on 45th yeah I wouldn't like to massage my right arm no you shouldn't no period just like I just I'm getting my side I just had this motherfuckers just random like you can relax it. Let it just do do what you got to do Just don't touch this like I'm hiding this you the op. I ain't come here for that Oh, I you focus on what you posted focus on Ling Ling
Starting point is 01:30:58 Relax don't touch this. This is this is these muscles Perfect the way they need to be perfect also the last thing I'll say is don't react like when you're super emotional or upset and Don't do it in writing either very important email You do it in writing Mm-hmm. Why not in voice?
Starting point is 01:31:23 You yes, because legally in court, these text messages do not hold up. What if you're wrong? Oh, you said they don't hold up? They don't hold up because I don't know. How can they prove who's texting? That's true. How can they prove who's actually texting in court? Okay, but you're talking about like court.
Starting point is 01:31:40 Legal. I'm talking about like... You talking about social media? People's opinions where they believe everything that they read. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Everything that they see. That was AI. Yeah, but people are haters.
Starting point is 01:31:50 That was AI. People are haters anyway. They're going to concern themselves with everybody else's business. And then you look at their own house and that's just not clean. It's very, very messy. Very dingy. Toilet's not flush. Cake built around the bowl.
Starting point is 01:32:03 But just dirty. Not adequate laundry. Not the right detergent. Toilets not flushed, cake built around the bowl, but... Dirty socks. Dirty, yeah. Not adequate laundry, not the right detergent, but... Your smoke alarm is beeping. But I just want to talk about the point, too. Now, how hard is it for you guys now, when there are situations, like super public situations, like stuff that Ant might be dealing with right now, where you now got to go face your teammates and you got to walk into that locker room and you know everybody's talking about whatever that situation no see something like that when it has to do with like women and
Starting point is 01:32:29 child support and abortions That's us. That's all of us in that locker room right I mean It's there's only a few men that's that was really excited about hearing the news of I'm pregnant And I'm just going to be honest with you. There's not been a time where you have an athlete and he's messing with outside girls. Like, I'm pregnant.
Starting point is 01:32:50 But, oh, yay! I'm going to be a father! Woo-hoo! Let me open up the checkbook right now for you. No, that's not it. The first thing is like, who? This?
Starting point is 01:33:03 Abortion. That is just the norm. Here's the here's the pay whatever i gotta do that is just the no i'm sorry to say it but it happens this these you're dealing with 42 girls here and there like you but the walk in the locker room though right the walk in the locker room you come in the locker your head down and head down they laugh at you no i ain't laughing yet ain't laughing yet. We all look to try to figure out what's going on with the nigga, right? Yeah See our before social media. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, so we look at the phone now. So think it's social media now We look at the phone like
Starting point is 01:33:40 So we got nicer to him today cuz we know what he going through like damn, bro Gotcha. Hey So we can be a little nicer to him today because we know what he's going through. He's like, damn, bro. I said, gotcha, huh? Hey, hey, hey. 150 guaranteed? Like, no, MPC, like, listen, I had situations like this is a true story. Yeah, I'm nervous to have you tell this story. True story, true story.
Starting point is 01:34:04 I had a teammate call and said, hey, man, can you contact this person for me, right? Because they got me. I thought it was a girl, right? But it ended up being a dude. So it was like we were sending news back and forth, but his news was like the butt part and the side. And it was like they want 75 grand. Oh, because he was sending news to a man?
Starting point is 01:34:23 Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. He was sending news to a man man. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah He was sitting news to me And here I'm with you I'm with y'all trying to figure out when are we gonna start the story? Oh, no, no, so and explain thoroughly like what the fuck? Like the girl people they show like this back. They show like the top part You got catfish by do I do so he was like seven He was like 75 and I was like, yeah, brother, you might want to bump that up to 125. That's sick. And you might want to bump it up to 125, get rid of that.
Starting point is 01:34:52 Oh, no. Yeah. That's sick. That's sick. But why? If you're a catfish, go on the show. No, hang on. Hang on a minute, because it's hard.
Starting point is 01:35:00 Like, with the- Yeah, I already know where you're going. I don't know what I'm just saying. I'm just saying, hey, listen. But that's our life. Yeah. It's hard. Like with the... I already know where you're going. I'm just saying, hey, listen. But that's our life.
Starting point is 01:35:09 That's the shit we go through. What Ant's going through, what Zion went through, that's normal. Like real normal. That is our normal. I forgot what player it was. They were on some podcast
Starting point is 01:35:20 and he said he was on a date and he looked over at the phone and it had his salary. She had Googled his salary. That's what, that ain't nothing though. That's nothing. They go deeper than that.
Starting point is 01:35:31 That's crazy. They go way deeper than that. That's the norm, but that's... But it's just like open on your phone, like just no shame. Bring back shame, girl.
Starting point is 01:35:37 But think about this chat AI now and all the information they're able to get just right away. On the date though? Yeah. That's crazy.
Starting point is 01:35:43 Because you want to make sure that the dude you went can, but that's what I'm saying. Can pay for the food. You got to fake it. That's why I fake everything. I'm faking it. Oh, bitch.
Starting point is 01:35:51 We catching a cab out at the Disney Store. It don't matter. She know 151. She know what you got. Oh, man. So she going to play the role, but that's- Photoshop. I Photoshopped all of the numbers.
Starting point is 01:35:59 But that's- But now you're not- Oh, you're on Gills Arena. I'm not. 15 million. Seven great sports media personalities. You're number one, baby. You already know. She don't speak English. But that's just- She don't even know. You know what I mean, you're on Gil's Arena. I'm about 15 million. Seven Greg Sports media personalities. You're number one, baby. You already know.
Starting point is 01:36:06 She don't speak English. But that's just that. She don't even know. You know what I mean? So this ain't something. What he's going through, there's probably three other players on the team going through this. A hundred percent. And that's why the locker room is always so important to a player.
Starting point is 01:36:20 Because the only people that can really, truly understand what you're going through is the dudes next to you. Right? My girl cheating on me. Right? I can't tell my best friend. He don't know what. There's a dude in there who's been cheated on by another player, teammate, this and this. Because it's a small circle.
Starting point is 01:36:39 So, you know, like. We're the only dudes in the workplace that don't know how to cover up for the work. We just let everybody in there just making babies man got my fuck up some time man yeah yeah yeah it's a crazy thing when you think about it like the most the top of the top of the food chain is the most reckless reckless is well reckless we won't get into all this we won't get the top of the food chain is the most reckless. Reckless as fuck. Reckless. We don't want to get into all this.
Starting point is 01:37:09 We don't want to get into all this. This is workshop shit. But even, it's for you as well. No, it's very, and it's getting worse. That locker room is basically a sanctuary.
Starting point is 01:37:16 That basketball court is a sanctuary because to your point, whether it's on the men's side or women's side, when you walk in there, people are dealing with similar shit
Starting point is 01:37:23 that you're dealing with because, again, you guys are high-profile athletes. This is the life you got to live. And even for Ant, for the ability to tune out that noise, go out there and drop that 30-piece, still be on top team in the league, or Ja or any of these guys what they're dealing with,
Starting point is 01:37:36 as your star power and your profile rises, that shit gets magnified. We don't care about the 15th man. 15th man going through this stuff is just a, you know. Even with him, but this is this ain't nothing like that That's I said this this right here. I just a haha moment. Yeah Twitter. He was just the main character Twitter yesterday Yes, but and now what do you but this is in real? I would he do he didn't want the baby from this little Oompa Loompa Okay, now movie gone. I mean she looked like like she was 5'5", 3'0", both ways. Give him a way to get that off.
Starting point is 01:38:07 He ain't been waiting. He ain't been waiting. Because the movie out, right? He's not voting for the movie. Go see Walker. Go see Walker. It's Peter. They banned me.
Starting point is 01:38:16 You know, made a bad decision. So, Shea Gildress Alexander had a modest night against the Nuggets on Saturday. By his standards, he only dropped 25, but did hit the game winner on the defending champs. By his standards, 25 is not respectable. Oh, yeah, with the caption. After the game, he blessed with another legendary IG post, including video of his game winner with the caption, Shay over, Shay under.
Starting point is 01:38:36 Shay, you owe me bread because you didn't cover. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Just know who to go to when you need a bucket before the buzzer. He got the best Instagram in the entire league. He's going... Because there's literally a mix of like... He's got a whole color on there. ...elaborate fits, then here's a bucket, then here's a more elaborate shaped fit.
Starting point is 01:38:54 Like his best one before that one was the one with Steph. Yeah. He was cooking Steph. He had a whole little poem for that too. Yeah, yeah, yeah. He's funny. I wonder if he writes them himself. He's Canadian. Yeah, he might have. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Might use a drink. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I wonder if he writes them himself.
Starting point is 01:39:06 He's Canadian. Yeah, he might have. Yeah, yeah, yeah. He might use Drake Scott. He might use Drake Scott. Very Canadian of him. Very Drake-like. So on Monday, SGA had the reigning defensive player of the year.
Starting point is 01:39:16 Look, he's silly. Let's take a look at this one. Oh, where are you going? Here's a bucket for you, my friend. John, please come back. Ben down. John, help. And is that your plan?
Starting point is 01:39:34 Yes. I just had to ask. He's getting booed a lot, apparently. I'm pretty sure. Yeah. He's still active. See you again. Didn't Adam Silver say it, though? That he didn't't what did he say? No, he said there's that there's never been But he was he said he never they never suspended a guy on the open investigation Right because they're not allowed to so they have to wait for something to happen a verdict or something or his behavior
Starting point is 01:40:04 For them to actually come in. So technically right now... It's all questionable. I guess in black America, we will hope that we were treated like this where we're innocent until proven guilty. Yeah, because that didn't happen with...
Starting point is 01:40:19 No, but that's how the NBA does it. We have to wait for the due process to finish, then we will step in. So that's... Like with me, that's how the NBA does it like We have to wait for the due process to finish then we will step in right? So that's like with me That's why I said with me. I was suspended for This doing this not the locker room stuff In my side though, it was funny. Yeah, like with you know, like with John Moran right with John Moran. It's It's defamation to the team. Okay, so it's a team thing.
Starting point is 01:40:48 It's a team thing. So what he did, his behavior is a team. Right, so because his behavior is not doing anything different, they can't really... So dumb. Yeah, I mean... It's all dumb. I guess when you're on that side of it,
Starting point is 01:41:03 you would rather it be your way. But it's crazy that they're not talking about them, though. So you were suspended because of speculations? No, no, no. I was suspended for not taking it serious and mental playing around with it. That, my media, my, I don't know what I had at the time. I don't think it was Twitter. It might have been Twitter at the time where I was just... Back when it was TWTTR.
Starting point is 01:41:34 Yeah, but I wasn't letting go. I was talking shit to the media. I was laughing about it. I guess I'm Billy the Kid. I was doing all that. It was my behavior. The person who could have had a lawsuit against the NBA would have been Javaris Crington because he got suspended for detrimental to the team, but he didn't do nothing. That's real.
Starting point is 01:42:01 Yeah. So about SGA, he finished the game with 30 points, nine boards, five dimes, and four steals. We were talking about that. I'm going to transition. Segway J. In only three quarters, gave the Grizzlies one more L before Jha comes back. In his last six games, SGA is averaging 33 points, seven assists, six rebounds by shooting nearly 54% from the field. Thunder is still second in the West.
Starting point is 01:42:24 So we talked about this a little bit yesterday. But when you look about just the landscape of the NBA and what's going on, obviously they prioritize major markets. The Thunder are not a major market. But how important is it for the league to have a superstar like SGA in a small market like Oklahoma City? Like important for the Holy? I mean, I feel like they're going to try to get him up out of there as fast as they can.
Starting point is 01:42:51 So I don't know how. I don't, but I understand what y'all are saying. Believe me, normally, you know me, I'm not a fan of small cities. Get them to the Lakers. He's just a good fit there. With that squad that's capable of doing, and with the picks they have, and just the assets and the roster that they have, there's a potential that they could do something special. No, they can't.
Starting point is 01:43:10 Are they going to be able to afford- I think by rule, by rule, they're going to have to break the team up. At some point in the next couple of years. Yeah, because they can't have the new rule, the Warriors rule, I think. The drafted players that you have all can't receive max contracts as drafted players from that team. So they're just essentially not going to be able to afford to keep the team together.
Starting point is 01:43:34 But the other three, I think Giddy, Chet, I think that we're considering... Yeah, Giddy's gone. Giddy, Giddy, Giddy, Giddy's gone. Fuck you. Get him out of here. They need a shooter. Get at him! They need? Fuck. Giddy, I'm outta here. But uh...
Starting point is 01:43:46 They need a shooter. Get out of here! They need a shooter. Yeah, see that's the problem. See, Giddy is not a shooter. He can't shoot. He can't shoot for shit. He can shoot, but he just...
Starting point is 01:43:54 No. No. What you mean no? No. He shoots like 47% from three. He was shooting better last year. And that was like... He was shooting like 37, 36%.
Starting point is 01:44:02 Maybe that was before he... He don't even look. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. Maybe before he's on... Maybe before he's on taking a picture. That was like That is a non shooter right there every day he was he was shooting before he was shooting Hey, we can read it what we want though. I'm just saying. Other shows in the underdog family. You're going to shoot it, shoot it. They got OJ on the show weekly. We don't got OJ.
Starting point is 01:44:29 Yeah, we ain't got nobody. We got her getting distracted and then all of a sudden you're shooting 20% and we see what the problem is. No, no, no. But he's not a shooter. So he's out of their future for sure. They don't got no shooter there. But they can go get one.
Starting point is 01:44:44 They can go get one. They got about 50-11 draft picks. 50-11. Yeah. The thing with a small market team is it's still... You have to overpay for your talent to keep it. To keep it.
Starting point is 01:45:02 To keep it. So you have to always overpay. So you're going to be running the risk of overpaying players just to keep your team intact. But you have that ability by being able to extend them and offer more bread than they can get. Yeah, but endorsement deals, this and this. And it's like, can they really afford to have a salary cap like the Lakers or Boston? Right? So, you know, this great nucleus team,
Starting point is 01:45:29 like, look at the team they had before this three. Yeah. Right? I'm pretty sure we can say the other three were better than this three. Nah, but the KDOKC team was thriving as an emerging city. Yeah, but what they couldn't afford? But they couldn't afford Harden.
Starting point is 01:45:46 I don't think they anticipated being able to have to afford him at that point. They needed four more million a year. Think about it. They wasn't prepared for that because they didn't expect him to be that. If they got these guys now and they're expecting
Starting point is 01:46:01 him to be that, they'll prepare for it. No, no, no. They were expecting him to be that. James? Huh? They weren't expecting them to be that, they'll prepare for it. No, no, no, no. They were expecting to be. That's why they kept them. Huh? They weren't expecting James to be that so they could pay him that. No, no, no. What happened was just like they do a lot of six men. They keep them as six men so they can be capped off.
Starting point is 01:46:17 Right? And they thought it worked. Okay, we don't have to pay you that much. You know, you got the Ginobili money. Hey. And Houston was like. And the rest of the league was like, that's a max player right there. So they thought they were going to pay him that bread,
Starting point is 01:46:31 then insert him in the starting lineup. Lineup. Yeah, make him a star, but on a... Keep on. Get him for low. They tried to get him for low. They tried it. They tried it.
Starting point is 01:46:39 Trying to get on homie hookup. But as we know... Homie hookup. Southwest buddy pass. Houston has a lot more establishments that are in Harden's wavelength compared to OKC, where all you can do is go to Applebee's. It's a good place.
Starting point is 01:46:51 It's a good place. Delicious combos, believe me. They got good drinks. Boneless wings. It's not Papa Doe's, though. It's a good place to take to work, boy. Nope. I'll go to Cheesecake, Applebee's.
Starting point is 01:47:04 Cheesecake, Applebee's? Yeah. Like, no, no? If somebody takes you on a datecake Applebee's. Cheesecake Applebee's? Yeah. Like no-no? If somebody takes you on a date to Applebee's... No, I'll go to Cheesecake before I go to Applebee's. But if somebody takes you on a date to Applebee's, do you look down on that human being or are you rolling with it trying to make the best of it? Are you judgmental, Lexi?
Starting point is 01:47:15 I'm just wondering what you think of me. What if he's rich? You've never had appetizers at Applebee's? Why are you taking me to Applebee's? Why have you never had... Have you never had... You hate me? What if he's trying to feel you out? at Applebee's? Why are you taking me to Applebee's? Have you never had the... What if he's trying to fill you out? At Applebee's?
Starting point is 01:47:28 Yes. You know how you have a test for men? What if this is your test? It is. What if I don't like Applebee's? What if I generally don't like the food at Applebee's? It's a new chef. I know the chef back there. I know the chef back there. He gonna cook have chefs. I know the chef back there.
Starting point is 01:47:45 They don't have chefs. He's going to cook whatever you want. No, he's going to cook whatever you want. He's throwing that shit in the grease and taking it out.
Starting point is 01:47:51 But what if it was an experience where the chef actually came up, hey, how you doing? Yeah. I heard a lot about you. He like painted like a real chef. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:47:59 Because why would you not take me to a nice place? No, because we're going to order. Because maybe he got the hookah. Maybe that's a cousin. We're going to go to Apple No, because we're going to order. Because maybe he got the hooker. Maybe that's the cousin. We're going to go to Applebee's. We're going to go to Applebee's and order from another restaurant. We don't even work at Applebee's.
Starting point is 01:48:10 He's your friend. We're going to have the other restaurant send us. The Applebee's chef comes out. Do we feel special? Oh, god. Do you got something to me? You're like, I can hook up something. All this shit comes from the freezer.
Starting point is 01:48:25 Stop it. You don't want no Applebee's? No. Don't take the Applebee's. Ain't got no lover. Don't take the Applebee's. The chat's not rolling with Applebee's. No.
Starting point is 01:48:33 Chili's? Chili's? Chili's is okay. I've never been to Chili's. Chili's back ribs? Chili's in his head. Chili's back ribs? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:48:41 Chili's in his head. Huh? Ruby Tuesday? I used to like Ruby Tuesday when I was a kid. What you mean? I don't want no shit. I don't want nothing that starts with a D. These are third date restaurants.
Starting point is 01:48:51 These are third date restaurants. These are third date restaurants. Ruby Tuesday? Yeah, old school Fridays. You weren't rocking old school Fridays. Not that good. I mean, are their food only good on Fridays? Only good on Fridays, bro.
Starting point is 01:49:03 It's reservation Fridays. You got to order. Reservation Fridays. The Magic Fridays, Ladera Center. Olive Garden. Stuff is legend. I do like Olive Garden. If you lucky.
Starting point is 01:49:13 Unlimited breadsticks. I don't like just straight days. It's named after a day. It's just... Ruby Tuesdays. Yeah, Ruby Tuesdays. Friday. Friday.
Starting point is 01:49:22 Ain't no Wednesdays. Ain't no Wednesdays. We got a fan of Applebee's. Applebee's, open up that checkbook. We are looking for additional sponsors on Gills Free to present my underdog fantasy. For sure. Or cheesecake. Cheesecake.
Starting point is 01:49:32 Cheesecake. No, cheesecake for sure. They got more items. Mm-hmm. Yes. And they have good strawberry lemonade. They do. Ooh.
Starting point is 01:49:38 And that brown bread. With the brown bread. With the number bread at it. I like their tuxedo cheesecake. Cheesecake Factory used to be like a gourmet meal back in his head Oh, yeah, yeah until the four families Or no, huh? I'm saying for families. It was gourmet. Oh no
Starting point is 01:49:58 Mastro's for a certain tier Had a lot of business deals at you most of my men Everybody yes, you can you can Began on me, but it's a decent menu for sure. I don't know why the work don't like these days We already are days, man They don't want special they don't want chefs. They don't want to eat at the house gourmet chefs Benny Hines for you look at me weird when I say uber eats and They don't want special. They don't want chefs. They don't want to eat at the house gourmet chefs. Benny Hines for you.
Starting point is 01:50:28 Look at me weird when I say Uber Eats. Yeah. You too good for Uber Eats. What if it's from Morton's? It's from wherever. Why are we not going there? Because we private. Because we smart.
Starting point is 01:50:42 Yeah. We understand. Might be some other work there. Keeping you in the house a little bit longer. Yeah. We got to go out and then you might change your mind. Exactly. I'm like, what? You want to go home early?
Starting point is 01:50:53 More is. We got the food, relaxation. Dinner, home. See? Yeah. Dinner, home. And Uber Eats. And we understand that.
Starting point is 01:50:58 We watch this Netflix. We understand that. Put your feet up. No, they got HBO Max. No, it's not HBO Max anymore. HBO, you know, we got. It's just Max. It's just Max. Put your feet up. No, nigga, HBO Max. No, it's not HBO Max anymore. HBO, you know, we got. No, it's just Max. It's just Max.
Starting point is 01:51:08 It's just Max now. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know it's one of them. I know they dropped off something. No Uber Eats, no Applebee's. No Uber Eats or Applebee's. On first date, no. Olive Garden?
Starting point is 01:51:18 No. Unlimited Breast, Dicks, and Salad. First date, no. First date, how about the first date in the mall? See, look at us get up. Full court. Hermes. Hermes, Louis Vuitton.
Starting point is 01:51:29 She want STK. She want STK. She want to take me shopping. Cool. See? I'm not going to turn down a shopping spree. Longhorn Steakhouse. We going to Spencer's.
Starting point is 01:51:38 They have good breads. They got good bread there. Ruth's Chris, still gourmet. Ruth's Chris? Ruth's Chris is falling off the bed. They got one down the street. It doesn't bring us A-game anymore, to be honest.
Starting point is 01:51:49 I love Ruth's Chris. That's how I know. The stuffed chicken without the stuff in it. The stuffed chicken is incredible. That's how I know. I used to think Ruth's Chris was up here. I know without the stuff in it. The quality of food has gone way down at Ruth's Chris.
Starting point is 01:51:59 Quality of food? I think that's everywhere. No. No, it's pretty consistent. I agree, but definitely at Ruth's Chris. You're just becoming more high maintenance legs. I don't know. It's Ruth's everywhere. No. No, it's pretty consistent. I agree. But definitely at Ruth's. You're just becoming more high maintenance legs. I don't know. It's Ruth Chris.
Starting point is 01:52:09 Red Robbins. Somebody said Red Robbins. What is that? Cheeseburgers. Red Robbins. It's kind of like Applebee's. It's like Johnny Rocket. Johnny Rocket was gourmet in his day to day.
Starting point is 01:52:18 No, it's like a step above Johnny Rocket. It's cheeseburgers. Johnny Rocket was Rich Nigga Fatburger at one point in life. I used to love him. Bahama Bree. Bahama Bree. That's a vibe. It's cheeseburgers. Johnny Rockets was Rich Niggas Fat Burger at one point in life. I used to love cheeseburgers. Bahama Breeze. Bahama Breeze. That's a vibe. That's a vibe.
Starting point is 01:52:29 That's a vibe. I like Bahama Breeze. Only in Florida though. So you go to Bahama Breeze and not go to Applebee's? Yeah. I like their food more. They got the Jamaican type food. We don't have that at Applebee's.
Starting point is 01:52:44 We will keep the discussion on this going. Not on a first date, though. Before we move on, we got to just give some love to Luka. The Mavs got smacked by the Nuggets in Denver last night, but it wasn't Luka's fault. 38-11 in eight assists. He's been killing, been having that MVP race. But now let's move
Starting point is 01:52:59 on to the main event. Like them, why isn't Hardaway Jr. starting? Yes, I've been asked. Like that lineup, it's Like them, why isn't Hardaway Jr. starting? Yes, I've been asked that. Like that lineup, it's just like, why not have him as a starter? Because as a starter,
Starting point is 01:53:12 they're second in the league in points in the starting group with 91 points if he started. Is he afraid he's not going to have the second uniform? They literally have this.
Starting point is 01:53:21 They have 33-23-999. That 999 is fucking y'all up. Yeah That could change him in 999 is fucking y'all up. Well else will come off the bed. Don't man. Don't it don't matter more shots with Luke Let's he gets more. Yeah, he gets way more shots with Luca cuz Luca coming in in the second unit is late when he's he's coming Yeah, so it look like they let Luca get started get a little tired then you throw but then you're expecting him to do shit without the ball like he has to come off do clay shit you keep him in with luca him and luca going i just i'll bring kairi off in the second unit i've always hated that that it gives me that old 80s vibe right we got three we got three defensive players who scores.
Starting point is 01:54:07 And you're still not really playing defense. You're still not playing defense. You got three people averaging nine. What are they giving up? Way more than nine. They don't never ask that question. No. They never ask that question. Yeah, like these defensive
Starting point is 01:54:24 teams, these defensive lineups, like look at the scores. Who was playing, who was actually playing defensively? I'm gonna score 148. Who, what defensive player out there was doing his job? Why can't we, why can't we point it out though though? Like as the media, like we need to start pointing out the lack of fucking defense that's being... They're so hyper-focused on offense. It says our takes is bad when we say, like, why have a defensive player in there who's averaging nine, but the guy he's guarding. Those three guys, nine, nine, and nine, there's 30 teams. Guarantee you they're going to rank last in production
Starting point is 01:55:02 or 28 or 27 against the field. So you got one guy who's probably leading this field in scoring. So from point guards, Luke is number one. Kyrie, point guard or shooting guard, he would be in the top 10. Your small forward would be 27, 28. Your power forward, 27, 28.
Starting point is 01:55:21 Your center, they're going to be ranking last because the people they're playing against and got a guard, they're going to be giving up 20-something against them. Yep. Absolutely. And they don't look at that part. The defense that they're going to be producing won't be good enough for them to be on the floor like that. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:55:36 And that's why I say there's no point in having that. We're losing, like, the two-way, the real two-way. Like, you have the... Now everyone's, like, hyper-focused on the 3 and D. Y'all can't really shoot threes like that. Y'all are just launching threes, and you think you're a 3 and D player because you play a little bit of defense,
Starting point is 01:55:52 but you're not really a scorer. There's no real two-way players. Nope. Hey, I'm sorry. Lilo. Lilo, that's my shit. What is Lilo? Texas Day Brazil.
Starting point is 01:56:04 Oh. Woo! That's like shit. What is Texas Day, Brazil? The food go to travel With the yeah, you flip it over green or red Have you ever seen bridesmaids? Yeah, you know that scene where they go to the steakhouse and they all get sick I haven't been back to one since I watched that movie. Since you watched it? You got a picture from a movie? That's a comedy.
Starting point is 01:56:27 Yes. It's just supposed to do that. Did you see the movie? No. Okay, watch this. It says Bridesmaids. It's a hilarious movie. Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey.
Starting point is 01:56:37 Don't disrespect. It's a hilarious movie. It's fucking hilarious. Watch the movie, Gil. I'm not going to lie. Just saying to you. I'm not going to lie, bro. That shit's hilarious, bro.
Starting point is 01:56:44 Voila. It's just hilarious bro. Give it a chance. Before you- Say love. Say love. I'm just being, I'm just, here do this real quick. Just do this, this is, when did women become funny?
Starting point is 01:56:57 Shit. Okay, you can- I'm a funny person, okay? Oh no, you're supposed to have this like this. You have to funny it. I just told you. No, no, no. Because on Twitter, I will say, and Twitter's not a real place,
Starting point is 01:57:09 so I'm going to say it. When women do funny shit on Twitter, y'all always come in and ruin it. Like men always ruin funny shit. What do we do as men of the people? They try to be funny too. They try to be funny like on top of our funny jokes and they ruin it.
Starting point is 01:57:20 I mean, not like you. We're talking about just general, like the whole group in a group. watch bridesmaids and you will laugh Does not support the views expressed in gills arena Okay, I go on and see the scene where they eat at the Brazilian steakhouse and they shit all over the place. Poo-poo would have been... Bridesmaid. I'm going to watch that as soon as this is over with, and then I'll give y'all a review tomorrow.
Starting point is 01:57:56 All right. Go do a three-hour live on it, Gil. Yeah, you should watch it live. Gil, you can't go into it trying not to fucking laugh. You already trying not to laugh right now. Who's in it? I'm not going to laugh. Who's in it?
Starting point is 01:58:09 Who's in it? It's like all the SNL people. Yeah. Like the older SNL people. Oh, okay. Maya Rudolph and the other girl. It's a funny movie, Gil. White girls.
Starting point is 01:58:17 Kristen Wiig. Who are white people? What's her name? Who are white people? Wiig. Yeah. Maya Rudolph. They're all funny in there.
Starting point is 01:58:23 You might. DJ Such and Such. You're going to. It's going to be... Terry Crews is in it. Okay, I can look. Let me see. Look. I'm going to give you a little chuckle.
Starting point is 01:58:31 Okay. Oh, yeah. She's funny. Rebel Wilson's in there, Gil. This was like great. Melissa McCarthy's in there. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:58:39 This is like great. Oh, is that the movie she became famous for? Like that's what stamped her? Kind of. Almost. Kind of like right after. This is like on the cusp before like comedy movies were like not allowed to be like over the top anymore.
Starting point is 01:58:49 Let's keep this thing moving and shaking because Ja is about to play soon and our friends at Underdog Fantasy have blessed you with some great deals.
Starting point is 01:58:57 So remember, download the app, use promo code GILD and match your first deposit up to $100. 25 game suspensions officially over. Let's take a look at the underdog fantasy
Starting point is 01:59:06 higher or lower projections for Jada Knight, Grizzlies at Pelicans. Look at our graphics and shit. Let me go back and look at my shit. Okay. As we know, Jada has not played a game this season. But I'm going to give you all some numbers, and I want you to tell me if you would go higher or lower.
Starting point is 01:59:22 So first, shout-out to our friends at Underdog Fantasy. So Jada would go higher or lower so first Shout out to our friends underdog fanning suit so jaws initial higher lower started at 25 points But because everybody retweeted that tweet that I told you how to do at the beginning of the show if you're gonna underdog fantasy Right now jaws higher lower point five points So Gil point five point five higher lower for job. That's what a week bed though That's what is that no is that for for the little team you can't Hey dollars where you holler? That's the $10 one. Oh the do the five pieces You be like point foul I want to hear that I'm not making that bit Taking that right now take that run
Starting point is 01:59:59 Are you assured by survival? I got John job higher on rebounds. 0.5? Higher or lower? We're taking higher. Higher. Higher? Okay. Yeah. All right, now what if we had, what is it? I think his point total now is 25.5, if I'm not mistaken, on the actual,
Starting point is 02:00:15 where you can put an unlimited amount of bread on that picker. 25.5? I'm going lower. You go lower. Here's the thing. I want to go lower because I feel like, but then watch Ja drop like 50. First game, first game. You think he's going to play like a ton of minutes too?
Starting point is 02:00:28 Hell yeah. Play the whole game? The way that team looking? Remember, he's been practicing the whole time. Who they playing? Yeah, that's true. New Orleans? Oh yeah, he's going to have to play.
Starting point is 02:00:37 I wish they was playing Houston. Watch Ja go for like 35. I'm going over. I want him to go crazy. I'm going to go over. Higher. I'm going to go higher. Yeah, higher. We do higher lowers here. First game. First game back, he's going to go lower. Oh yeah, I'm not even. I want him to go crazy. I'm going to go over. Higher. I'm going to go higher. Yeah, higher. We do higher lowers here.
Starting point is 02:00:45 We do not gamble. First game back, he's going to go lower. Oh, yeah, I'm not even allowed to gamble anyway. Our favorite fantasy company. We're playing fantasy. We are playing fantasy. So, thankfully. Yeah, WNBA.
Starting point is 02:00:54 I'm not getting played. Shout out to Jeremy Levine and the crew at Underdog Fans for blessing us with a game that all can play if you're over 18 in certain states. So, 7.5 assists, higher, lower. Ja average 8.1 assists last season. Lower. Not because of him, though. I'm not passing to you Negroes.
Starting point is 02:01:11 Look what y'all did. Look what y'all did. I'll take your advice on that one. Look what y'all did without me. Which I need the ball for. Except for Desmond Bay. You said 7.5? 7.5 assists.
Starting point is 02:01:22 Can you throw some lobs to Jaren? That's a lot of pressure. No, I'm going lower. I'm going lower, too. Yeah, me too.5? 7.5 assists. Can you throw some lobs to Jaren? That's a lot of pressure. No, I'm going lower. I'm going lower too. Yeah, me too. It's a lot of pressure. So 5.0 rebounds. Remind me, does he play on the Grizzlies?
Starting point is 02:01:32 I believe, what, they're 6 and 19 right now? He averaged 5.9 rebounds last season. He's right there. It's 4.5, ain't it? Huh? Is it? Yeah. My bet, 4.5.
Starting point is 02:01:44 Oh, look at you. You got that good internet. If it's 4.5, higher't it? Huh? Is it? My bet, 4.5. Look at you. You got that good internet. If it's 4.5, higher. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's what I mean. Everybody's hitting that 4.5, so that means he going to get them rebounds. Higher. He going to get you some rebounds. For sure. He going to get some.
Starting point is 02:01:54 All right. So now we've got the blocks and steals combined. 1.5 blocks and steals. This is just a higher boost, so you can only pick higher on this, but it gives you 1.25x. What is this one? Blocks and steals. 1.5 blocks and steals combined. For sure. He definitely got enough blocks. He got to get two one-on-one or two. He's going to pin a shot off the backboard. 1.25. Yeah, he's going to get some steals. Okay. He can only go higher on this one if you want to really maximize your break getting. He's going to be active. I'm not putting my
Starting point is 02:02:22 money on that. Okay. You passed. None none of the above I last match but not least 0.5 blocks again. This is just a higher boost 0.5 X if he gets a block in this game. Yeah one whole block you could 2.5 X Yes higher higher with that Like I say is his energy is gonna be all defense cuz offensively He's got a warm-up The events you just go out there and fucking do she you got to treat this shit like bingo you got about to do two
Starting point is 02:02:53 Or three or four just with all different contingencies cuz somebody will sell you eventually RJ Barrett that person was you last night I need a singular point my boy. It was Girl I don't bet Like I know what we play we play fantasy I do my half-time higher lowers when I'm watching the Lakers games it was it was too good to be true I had to go get it. It looked too spell. He could do this. You literally did at one point Yeah, I think it was like 12.5. He finished the game with 12. He ain't got no love for Brunson. And he got some shit beat in the first half, too, that literally denied you.
Starting point is 02:03:29 0.5 blocks, but you got... You get a 2.5 boost. But you got 1.5 on the blocks and steals. So 1.5 on the blocks and steals is a higher boost. That means he's just going to get one steal. Ja's ready, Gil. He's locked in. Yeah, one block, one steal. Everybody wins. Scramble. He's going to get one steal. Ja's ready, Gil. He's locked in. Yeah, one block, one steal.
Starting point is 02:03:46 Everybody wins. Scramble. He's going to get three. He's going to go over. That's what he just needs to get. So which one are you the most confident about, about the choices I gave you? Rebounds. Besides the.5 points.
Starting point is 02:03:55 Rebounds. So rebounds over five. The one I picked. Higher or lower than five? Higher than five. Excuse you. No, mine is at five. At five.
Starting point is 02:04:03 I like those two because if he just gets five, it's all right. It don't hurt me. It don't hurt me. Good. It don't hurt me. When they fumble, though, they fumble the rebound, and the other dude gets it. That's the worst. Why is it not an assist if a guy gets fouled and he makes two free throws and we don't get...
Starting point is 02:04:19 These are questions we need to ask. I need to know that. Stan Van Gundy also asked, why on the and one if they shoot it and you block it that don't count As a block, but if the shot goes in it counts as a bucket We need more stats. So that's all this technically dick who said that Steve and I know you're trying to hate book But give the ball technically dead the why can't it still go in and account for two points? Because it's still alive for that offensive possession
Starting point is 02:04:41 It's not live for a defensive position if I beat that shit and stop those two points from going in Should I get something for that offensive possession. It's not live for a defensive possession. But if I beat that shit and stop those two points from going in, should I get something for that? The only thing you can do is get a goaltending. Wait, you said in a... Like if I foul you and they blow the whistle, I can't re-foul you for the other person to get another foul.
Starting point is 02:05:00 It's literally like a dead... But if you make this, so what if you make the three, should you get 1.5 assists? You get fouled on a three you make three free throws I don't know three you make three one and a half 5.5 and stats is crazy that would be next For people like ones and twos coming up. We played one and 1.5 for three Yeah, it makes the math a little trickier, but it helps you work on your overall skill.
Starting point is 02:05:27 That's like a tricky math. Just like if I get fouled. Just like if I get fouled going to the layup, right? And it's a continuation, and I take three steps that can't call travel. But you can still make the layup. I can still make the layup. That's hilarious. And they can't say it's not a shooting foul.
Starting point is 02:05:44 So they can't say, oh, take the ball out. It's already continued as a shooting continuous foul. Damn. So there's like these little loopholes in the game. Yeah, I know you've literally studied the rule book. I'm just saying it really like, all right, now it's a gray area. I can fucking finesse this. But now let's move on.
Starting point is 02:06:00 Let's hope that Ja Morant does well tonight. Ja, we are all watching, hoping to get it back together. And for everybody in the Underdog Fantasy family, let's get them pick-ems going tonight. Hopefully some of y'all make some bread. Probably will not be me. Yeah. Tillman, you watching? I know you watching. Y'all get your shit together over there. Tillman, come on, man. We know you watch every episode. If it's a rebound between you and Ja, go ahead and let Ja get the fucking rebound.
Starting point is 02:06:22 Let him get the fucking rebound. Get by all of you. Thank you. Underdog, we do not do that. Do not, let Jai get the rebound. Let him get the fucking rebound! Thank you! We do not do that. Do not do that. Do not do that. Do not do that, Tillman. Get all the rebounds! Hand it to him. Not do that, Tillman. Get all the rebounds you can.
Starting point is 02:06:36 Get yours, because you got one too. And I just like... Allegedly. Both are ours. Let's both grab it at the same time. Now let's move on to Mostly Fans, the last segment of the day. Again, shout-out to Underdog Fantasy. They have blessed us by keeping these lights on.
Starting point is 02:06:52 Look at all these nice holiday decorations. Shout-out to our production crew putting all this together. Very festive. Everybody got the nice sweaters on this side. Yeah. Real ones on this side. Our first question is from Underdog user Denys Cascade. Do you think we will see a trend between tournament cup winners
Starting point is 02:07:12 and NBA finals winners? What do you mean trend? Like if they win the cup, they'll win the finals? So will the Lakers not only be the NBA World Cup champions of the world, but will they also just win the other less important postseason champions? What was so funny is the first time someone does that, they're going to blow it out of proportion and make it a big thing.
Starting point is 02:07:33 Greatest team in history. I mean, there's only a few teams that could have did that. That would have been like the Bulls a few times, probably all three times. The Warriors. Every time they won the championship. The Warriors. The Warriors a few times. I don't know, man.
Starting point is 02:07:53 Just dominant from beginning to end. End season seemed to be like an up for grabs type of thing. It depends on your pool play. One depends on that and who you're playing up until the pool ends. And then it's like after that, it elimination brother. You got a short for that game I think the way it panned out was Basically the Lakers would plan a good momentum game to the end and everyone who was good enough to win Lost out early. So it's like it's like it's fair, but it's not it's like you got to win
Starting point is 02:08:23 Not the only team that was really doing well that didn't Was Boston Denver No, what's Denver's record? It wasn't it was Two of those games early then you're like kind of out like knocked out Yeah, but when you think about teams like that teams that like 20 and 5 there's only a few teams like that You know when Warriors went 24 and 0 you could have said, okay, they would have won it. Same thing when, you know, Bulls was doing their run. You know, they were, it was extended.
Starting point is 02:08:55 It would have been full of Denver won, won the end season, and then repeated. That would have been full. That would have let us know that they're the best team in the league. That would have been crazy. That would have let us know, like, yeah, anybody fucking with Denver. Like I said, we'll see. It's entertaining. It probably won't be this year unless we get Zach Levine.
Starting point is 02:09:13 So you think y'all get Zach, y'all can run the tables? We'll be in a better position. I don't think we just – the way the lineup is, it's not enough. Not fair. I mean, too many teams out there just got some bucket getters. Yeah. All right, well, let's move on to our next question. It's a video question from underdog user ASAPJOLOF.
Starting point is 02:09:35 What's good, y'all? So my question is, Gil, when you were in Washington, were there any players that you were really trying to get to come join you? Like, did you go to the front office, try and get any trades going, or did you try hitting anyone up in the summer, try and convince them to come join you? Like, did you go to the front office, try and get any trades going, or did you try hitting anyone up in the summer, try and convince them to come to Washington? And same question for anyone else on the couch. Like, who are y'all trying to recruit to your teams?
Starting point is 02:09:52 And my second question is, for my sixth year, who do you think we can add to our team either before the trade deadline or in the offseason to make us contenders again? Because I feel like we're just one more piece away. Appreciate it, y'all. Good question. Audio was fine. Appreciate it, y'all. Good question. Audio was fine. We was engaged with the camera.
Starting point is 02:10:08 Trying to get the double up for that $200 holler. Y'all better be sending them extra bread. We take care of our people. Obviously, y'all, because they'll be emailing the fuck out y'all. You're right. I'll be minding my business. Where the money at? Didn't I tell you during the show
Starting point is 02:10:24 I have nothing to do with that we're not worth our money. I like I did not tell you during the show I have nothing to do They know you Hit Joe you like you like you lie that like He got plugged in me So good did you try to recruit any players to the Wizards? And along with you, have you all tried to recruit players? And then the second part was, what can the Sixers do this season, offseason,
Starting point is 02:10:52 to make them contenders? Yeah, actually, you know, I recruited, when we lost Larry, you know, I ended up, you know, the following year, you know, hitting Deshaun Stevenson up, you know, getting him over there. But when it comes to star, star players, when you're in a big market, you're trying to look for guys
Starting point is 02:11:10 that's in small markets in the cap space, but I don't remember hitting anyone up trying to get them there. Yeah. Let's go. Hell yeah, I was trying to recruit a motherfucker. Shit, Khloe just couldn't play. She couldn't shoot free throws.
Starting point is 02:11:30 It didn't work out. Anyway, I'm last season. You were trying to get Khloe Kardashian to play? Oh, boy. I was trying to recruit a guy. It just didn't work out, man. Ladies and gentlemen, be on the lookout for the workshop. Sean McKenzie, new podcast.
Starting point is 02:11:44 We've lost the plot. Nobody else qualify. Everybody else. We've lost the plot. No reason to come play on this side. It's too cold over here. And players can't tamper, right? I think it's the same in the W, right? No, it's not a tamper.
Starting point is 02:11:53 No tampering. I mean, last year when we had free agency, I definitely reached out to some of the people that they were looking at. Because last year was like the first time I actually had a say in anything going on on the team I was on. So we got her. So it was good. Anybody you wanted, though?
Starting point is 02:12:10 Mm-hmm. It's kind of a damn if you do, damn if you don't thing. Like you're trying to like, yeah, you know, I'm trying to get KG over here. You know, I'm thinking, you know, Antoine Jamison would have something, you know. Something to say about that? Yeah, you know, when you're trying to recruit, you really got to think about your teammates. So if you have a real bond with your teammates, no one's really trying to upgrade like that. We were trying to get AI when Ticket was there.
Starting point is 02:12:38 He was a really strong push for him, but he was like, it's too fucking cold. But he ended up going to fucking Denver. But, I mean, he had Philly. Literally was like, yo, it's too fucking cold. But he ended up going to fucking Denver. But, I mean, he had Philly. Literally was like, yo, it's too fucking cold in Minnesota, bro. It was a different kind of cold than both of the cities. But he was like, yeah, man, I can't fuck with that shit.
Starting point is 02:12:55 It's too cold. And it was Minnesota. It's fucking Minnesota. But as I said, trying to recruit someone, it's hard to recruit the star star because of the money difference. So you're trying to get role players that they're in free agency. Their team is not really taking care of them. Those are the guys you're really trying to recruit.
Starting point is 02:13:15 Those big blockbuster deals. Those are the tough ones, yeah. I'm with the role players. And who can the Sixers try to go after to make them contenders? He feels like they're one piece away. Who's that piece? They were initially in the market for Zach Levine. Drummond.
Starting point is 02:13:32 Andre Drummond. Shooting guard. They need a big. They don't need no guards. They go get Jordan Clarkson, too. They don't need no guards. Jordan Clarkson would. They need a backup big.
Starting point is 02:13:39 I think Jordan Clarkson would be a good piece for a lot of teams. I'm a fan of Jordan Clarkson's game. I think. If you couldn't tell. You're a little reckless. I mean, shh. You're a little reckless at times. I mean, Joel and...
Starting point is 02:13:52 Who you thinking? I don't... Ah. It's like, the way Joel is playing right now, God damn. He don't need much. Like, I mean, The way he's playing, you know how when you tell someone they need to play like this
Starting point is 02:14:08 and then they do it and you be like, damn, I'm surprised. That's what he's doing right now. You're like, damn it. You're doing it. At first I thought I was just picking on you, but you're doing it. You're doing it. Probably someone who can
Starting point is 02:14:22 just flat out shoot it just to keep everyone honest. Yep, I like that. Just to keep everyone. Oubre, you don't think Oubre? Huh? Oubre can shoot it. Oh, yeah, but see, Oubre's not.
Starting point is 02:14:31 Is he back? Yeah, he's back. Then I don't think they really need it. I think they just need time. Yep. Yeah. He just seems like someone who's been disappointed in the playoffs a few times.
Starting point is 02:14:41 So he's like, what do we need to get over that hump? But really, they need Embiid to be Embiid. If they get Drummond, though, if they get somebody like Drummond that can feel those minutes when he's on the bench, that they don't lose that production of rebounding and defense, that makes them, to me, a deep contender. You know what the double-edged sword is on this right here? Asking him to do exactly what he's doing and then say he needs one more play over there so he don't have to do this.
Starting point is 02:15:15 That's the fucked up part. You're doing too much. Now we need you to do less. You're doing too much. You're doing too much. You're doing too much. It's like, you satisfied the inner ego of me knowing that what I was saying was right because you're doing it. Now I'm saying, hey, Philly,
Starting point is 02:15:31 y'all need to get somebody over there so he don't have to do this no more. He should average 29 and 15 because someone else is... But you just wanted him to prove that he could do what your potential set out to be. Everything I've been saying, like, like though this game looks too easy for you And you're not like you could be averaging this if you went hard not that he's going hard
Starting point is 02:15:53 I all right you prove that now now I can go say told you motherfuckers. I was right. Yep now Okay, now can y'all get somebody over there? Get one more piece so he don't have to do this every night It was one we gonna go back, why are you not playing? Like this. But no, because now we know. You know what I mean? It's one of those things like, poke, poke, poke, can you do it?
Starting point is 02:16:19 And then it's like, okay, you can. But that's going back to the Zion shit too. When you accept a player for who he is He's gonna show you who he is Joel we poked him poked and poked him now. He's showing us who he is He can't go back from where he is now though You're showing us who you only if he gets some only if he gets a player that that's why I said it's one of those things where if somebody if a Zach Levine goes there and he's he's averaging
Starting point is 02:16:43 29 now. I can't say he's playing lazier because I've already seen when I said this is what he needs to be averaging and he's averaging that, then he's giving me everything I needed to let him know like, okay, he's tapping into all of his greatness. Now you need to add somebody there to help him win. I think- That's what I said. greatness. Now you need to add somebody there to help them win. That's what I said. It's a contradiction, but I
Starting point is 02:17:09 had to get it out there like, okay, you proved me right. Nick Nurse got them out there hooping, man. He got them out there. They got a system. I don't even want to see him win right now. I just want to see him win MVP again. Back to back. I would love to see that. That would be dope. Back to back MVP? Right now, they have to get that. That would be dope. Back-to-back MVP?
Starting point is 02:17:27 Right now, they have to get him. It's his already. Unless he falls off crazy. It reminded me of that Steve Nash back-to-back. It was like, one was guaranteed yours, one was somebody else. The one we questioned
Starting point is 02:17:42 last year, we were like, okay, that was probably this year, yours. They can't even get this to nobody. I don't give a fuck what they try. They're going to try some. You know they are. I don't give a fuck what place they in.
Starting point is 02:17:58 They could be in a play-in game. I mean, there's Joel Embiid right there. Get as bad his MVP. Get his man his MVP. So last question is a video question from underdog user Liarwood22. He lying already. What up, gang?
Starting point is 02:18:12 It's your boy, Maya, from Oklahoma City. First and foremost, y'all got to show us some more love. We got the third best point guard in the NBA, and we might really go to the finals this year. Anyways, my question for y'all, I'm 29. I grew up in the ball is life era. Man, who is the greatest mixtape player? Y'all know what I mean by mixtape player.
Starting point is 02:18:34 Austin Rivers, Michael Porter Jr., Zion. Who's the best mixtape player, ball is life era, that didn't pan out in y'all's opinion? I love to hear y'all's answers, man. Y'all have a good day. Keep doing your thing. Oh, wait. This is easy. Easy for me.
Starting point is 02:18:49 He said didn't. Oh, he said didn't pan out. When he threw the didn't pan out is the problem. Y'all probably not going to remember it because y'all don't really fuck basketball like that. All right, let's hear it. Why are we getting this? I don't want to go first. Because we older.
Starting point is 02:19:02 I'm going to be like, boo. We all the same age, right? You say you want to go first? No, I want to go last. You want to go first we all gonna be like boo we all the same age range you say you Want to go first no I want to go last You said you had one I know but now you're like go No, no first and if the name that I have is a mention then I will say seventh words Yeah Seven Woods is a fucking superhero. Did he go to North Carolina? Mm-hmm. Yep. He was coming to like, did not do shit. Where the hell was this kid at?
Starting point is 02:19:29 Like, what the fuck happened to Superman? I don't even know who the fuck that is. Seven Woods? You don't even know who that is? Bro. He might have one of the best hoop mixtapes on Earth. On the planet. Better than Crime Stopper?
Starting point is 02:19:39 Better than whoever you think. That's what I was going to say. Ah! That's what I was going to say. The Crime Stopper? The Crime Stopper. What a nickname. Did he go play somewhere? it. The Crime Stopper. The Crime Stopper. What a nickname. But he actually, did he go play somewhere?
Starting point is 02:19:47 Who was the Crime Stopper? Akil Carr. Oh, yeah, yeah, Akil. Yeah, he was overseas. He's a monster, but nah, nah, nah, nah, nah. Come on, man. Seven Woods. Seven Woods.
Starting point is 02:19:55 Seven Woods was a little Zion Williams. The expectation was low for Akil Carr. Listen to the name. That means when he played, he was a little. He was a little. He was a little. And he was a little more fun. Yeah, that was crazy.
Starting point is 02:20:03 Baltimore Crime 2? But he was little. He was little. He was like, ah, he was a little more fun. Baltimore crime, too? But he was little. He was little. Nobody said he was going to make it to the NBA. Okay, I get that. People were like, if he makes it, that would be amazing. If he don't, okay, he's 5'6". Seventh Woods, though, was number one.
Starting point is 02:20:18 He was number one in high school. Oh, wow. Number one. He was all world, bro. His highlight film would get him anywhere. He went to UNC, right? Yeah. UNC, nigga. Number one. UNC. He was all world, bro. His highlight film would get him anywhere. He went to UNC, right? Yeah. UNC, nigga, crumbled.
Starting point is 02:20:29 Roy Williams ate that man alive, boy. That's why I tell him, don't be going to them fucking schools when you got talent like that. He's supposed to be an elite running up and down like Jalen Green in them. But there be some times where your AAU talent is not actually NBA talent or college talent. That's why I be...
