Purple and Gold took their five-game winning streak to Houston Monday to face the Rockets in their first meeting since Christmas Day, holding a slim half-game lead over Houston for the third spot in the West and what has the potential to be a playoff off preview. Lakers needed a win to avoid letting the Rockets own the tiebreaker in their season series.

Houston was without Alperin Shangoon for the second straight game as he deals with lower back issue. Both offenses looked nasty for most of the game, but the purple and gold did what was needed to get the dub. Luca led the Lakers with 36.6 rebounds four assists going 14 to 27 from the field. His fifth straight 30-point game, 52nd in a Lakers uniform. LeBron added 18, 5, and 5. Austin Reeves had 15 in a tough shooting night for the man known as Lemon Daddy. Lakers overcame a double-digit second-hat deficit, holding the Rockets to a season low tying 12 points in the fourth quarter, into the game with a 15-2 run after a seven-minute scoring drought. So after scoring 16 points in the first half, Kevin Durant had just two points in garbage time in the second half,

along with six turnovers. Lakers got their six straight win, nine and one in their last 10 games. In that stretch, they've beaten the Knicks, Wolves, Nuggets, and Rockets. They're also a league leading 19 and 6 in clutch games this season. You know, I know previously you said you were not watching the Lakers, but what are your biggest takeaways from the Lakers' sixth game winning street? First of all, you disrespected when you said we're back. We're back, dude.

Well, I said they had to hit the panic button, and they've been doing that since. You know, AR last six games is averaging 25, so he is showing that he can't be a second option. When Braun is shooting less than 15 shots, they're six and one. And Aiden and Smart, you know, they've been stepping it up on both sides of the floor, so right now they're looking good. And Lucas is taking this game to another level right now. You know, he's been going crazy.

I know they had a little stretch where they were down, but their defense kept him in. And, you know, long as they are is the number two option, the Lakers are going to be all right over there. Okay. Not looking at this Lakers stretch a game, playing some of their best basketball this season. I believe first six game win streak this season for the Los Angeles Lakers. What are your biggest takeaways from the Lakers in their six-game winning streak? Take it away. Don't mean shit. Still look like the trash-ass Lakers to me.

You get happy all they want to. When you talk who, we're going to, let's talk who for a second. Let's just talk about what's happening out there on the floor. like nothing has changed about their game. Guys are hitting shots when ultimately it's like a live or die scenario with every single possession. If Luca's not taking the shot, if AR's not getting foul, Lakers are in trouble.

DeAndre A. and still don't know what the hell he is out there. He doesn't know if he's going to get the ball. He don't know if he's going to get a lob. Rui, he got to find the ball whenever he can find it to shoot it. And if you're still going to depend on Luca to really anchor the offense based on his performances, first half, explosions and doing what he does on a regular night-to-night basis, they're not going to go far because they don't have any X factors.

I don't think that LeBron is going to be the X factor. He needs to be the X factor. And now Swag said he pushed him to the corner. And now you don't really know what kind of LeBron you're going to get. And I think that's going to be the difference. And they don't play no fucking defense. Like Houston, fuck the game up. Durant should have did way more than he did,

and I think EMA is putting him in a tough spot and not actually drawn up place, forcing them to play into the picking rolls and all that stuff and the double teams. But you look at the last three tough teams they play. It's Rockets, Nuggets, and Knicks and Timberwolves. Yeah, about saying Minnesota. Those are good games to win.

Those are solid games that go in and steal. but the manner in which they're winning these games don't solidify you being a playoff team and you're going to go in and win a playoff series I think right now the lakers still need to change a pace they need to change a gear they need to figure something out other than the luka magic show that's been we've seen this so when you can isolate that in the playoffs they're dead because a r just he's still in limbo he's still trying to figure out he can go back to to be in the old AR or not, but 25 a game is nice, it's solid, but it ain't enough. You did previously call the Lakers the best of the ass teams. They had struggled to beat good teams at that point. Yeah. I think now they're beating good teams. That was easy. No, I don't know. I like what the Lakers doing. I think winning games is winning games.

You've got to find good teams finding a way to win games. And that's what they've been doing. When you hear LeBron, Luca, coming into a gym, you automatically think it's going to be a good team. So with them playing the right way, LeBron finding a way to play with Luca and AR, I feel like that's all they've been missing.

In 56 games this season, he's averaging a league leading 33 points per game along with nine assists, eight rebound, averaging more points, rebounds, assists, and steals than current MVP frontrunner SGA. When you look at what Luca's doing and what he's done this season and with the expectations for the Lakers' word this season, does Luca deserve more love in the MVP race?

I don't want to be a stickler for the details. When you say more love? Not getting enough. Where is he positioned now? Four or five. Depend to who? Depending on who you ask. Okay.

I'm asking you. Because you asked the question. I said four or five. Okay. So four or five, do I think he needs to get more love? Right now, Wimby's jumped in the key of NBA MVP ladder, which gets released by the league every Friday. Okay. Wimby jumped to the second spot.

no one is considering he's 41. They're only considering his LeBron James, so he's supposed to be great. Not LeBron James at 40, and, you know, he isn't who he used to be that you guys have him glorified as. So obviously, Luca has to do a lot. right get the man easy shot so he's not burning himself out right take seven to 13 shots take 18 I mean you know don't burn yourself out because we're going to need you in a playoff so you know the game has become a little bit easier for lebron so he can last in the playoffs and you know that's not considered you know with luka but you know you can't take away from what everybody else is

doing either so I think he's getting I think he's at where he should be all right let's sure for this i can you think that lucca deserves more love or Yeah, we should be. Okay. Nice to hear everybody agreeing. Exactly what he said. So he's number four right now? Currently four?

more love in the MVP race right now where he has a Lakers situated? Do I think he deserves more love? LeBron missing substantial time. Austin Reeves missing, I think, 26 games. What is he done new? Getting buckets. Consistency. Same thing.

Same thing, yeah. Same thing we've been seeing. So, I mean, if the Lakers were trending two, three in the West, one in the West, you would look at that consistency to be team revival. But it's just Luca being Luca. I think to me, my biggest gripe against Luca is just being a competitor. I think people misread what an actual competitor is. You look at how Wemby played both sides of the ball all last.

last night, you know, whether his shot is rolling or not, he's gonna compete. And I think when you compete and you wanna actually go and stop the other guy from scoring, you wanna actually give effort on the other end, that's, it says different things about you. That's why Jalen Brown does deserve more credit because he actually competes and Kay Cunningham actually competes.

Anthony Edwards actually competes. They are true competitors. So you look at the MVP race, it's a lot of it, without like the true competition of it. I feel like between Joker and Luca, as good as they are, you know, team-oriented players, if they picked up their competitive nature on not so much Joker. Not so much, not so much,

because he does compete, but he does, he does have lack of desical moments. We all do. He has a lot of lack of deysical moments. Everybody does. But Luca for sure, Luca for sure. Luca for sure has a lot of those non-competitive moments that makes it look like the other guys are playing at a higher level.

And I think if he just gave more effort, it would be clear. I think it would be a clear cut one, two, or three. But the fact that we could see it and we're watching it and you're like, damn, Luca, you don't get back. You don't help defense. You don't do not a lot of the things you do on offense. You don't do on defense. So I can't give him too much love on that. But he's been consistent, just like Shay.

Like I said before, Shea has the numbers he has. He's in number one. Luca has better numbers. And he's at number, what they're sitting at four. Four, four. So the conversation is always going to either be team success or triple doubles with Joker and Luca looking like he looks. So it's- And all of them, I mean, Thunder have dealt with a ton of injuries, Nuggets have dealt

with a ton of injuries. But they had more cushion to play with. Yeah. The Thunder had more cushion to start the season to play with going 24 and 1, right? You got more cushioned. So you can, guys can be out and you can still be putting up the numbers that you're putting up and holding the fourth down, miss a few games. And Luca actually has been available. Yeah, he's, what, 59 games, you said?

I think he's, 56 games, he's been there. So he's been there. So it's, should he, could he be, like, surprised if he was higher? No. We would be surprised if he was lower, no, right? because it's just the people that they got at the first three spots doing what they're supposed to. And then if Jalen Brown is in the top four,

we would be like, he deserved to be there as well, as well as K-8 as well as. So there's some guys that's going to get left off the final ballot when it's time to vote that we all think could actual win no war because of what they've done for their team this year. Where's Jalen Brown's numbers in comparison? Because he's about like 28. Yeah, he's having less points.

Let me provide it for you. But they're number two. They're number two in the east, right? Jaylon Brown this season shot averaging 28.7 rebounds, five assists. 28, 7 and 5. Those are great numbers. And I'm looking at Jalen Brown be first team all defense. He should be first team all defense.

So I'm looking at him being the first guy if we can, I'm going to say if we can push. But think about him being first team, all NBA, first team, all defense since that one guy. Well, not say one sister, that one guy, because Janus, Janus got it. But looking at Janus and then looking at Wembe, as a guard, like actually going in there and saying, I'm going to do both sides. That says a lot about the hoop community going back to playing both sides of the ball. But like I said, you can't take shit away from Luca, man. Luca's going to be Luca, bro.

But when you talk about pedigree and competitiveness, Jalen Brown has stepped it up.
