Gil's Arena - Gil's Arena DEBATES If Nikola Jokic Will Be Top 10 Ever

Episode Date: January 15, 2025

Gil's Arena DEBATES If Nikola Jokic Will Be Top 10 Ever as Gilbert Arenas & The Gil's Arena Crew react to another historic moment in Jokic's career and discuss what the Serbian superstar needs to do t...o get into the NBA's list of top 10 greatest players in the league. They also react to his Denver Nuggets teammate Russell Westbrook delivering a vintage season and debate if the former MVP is playing his way into one final massive contract before reacting to the latest chapter in the Jimmy Butler vs Pat Riley saga where the rivals inside the Miami Heat organization have seemed to hit a stalemate as Jimmy clearly doesn't want to play in South Beach and Pat can't find a valuable trade partner. Next, they break down Trae Young smoking the Phoenix Suns for 43 points & debate if this career season for Ice Trae is flying under the radar, and get real on the Suns' disappointing season with Kevin Durant and Devin Booker falling way short of expectations so far. Finally, they move over to the NFL where football legend Deion Sanders has emerged as a candidate to be the next head coach of the Dallas Cowboys and get Kenyon Martin's opinion on the rumors as a former Cowboys fan. Starting point is 00:03:52 So Jimmy Butler is eligible to return from his seven-game suspension Friday, and the Heat don't like any of the current trades on the table. Has Jimmy Buckets played his last game in a Heat uniform? Jokic made history by becoming the fastest player ever with 15,000 points, 7,500 rebounds, 5,000 assists. But what does the Nuggets big man need to do to crack the top 10 in NBA history? And Thunderford, Jalen Williams thinks the NBA should have two separate defensive players of the year, one for guards, one for bigs.
Starting point is 00:04:22 But is he spitting or tripping? But before we get into all that, as always, this show is brought to you by Underdog. Go ahead and download the app. Use promo code GIL to get up to $1,000 in bonus cash plus a special pick-em. And for football fans, we got more playoffs coming, divisional round coming this weekend. Pick who you think scores the first TD and apply your token to that player. If your pick is the first TD scorer in that game, you'll take home your share of $100,000 in bonus

So last night, Mr. B and Gil both made some money by hitting their pick-ems on the Underdog app. Shout-out to you guys. Looking out for the people. Both delivered. As for tonight, Kenyon has to pick something.
Starting point is 00:05:19 His partner pack on the Underdog app. We got everybody in the crew doing partner packs, minus your host. But let's take a look. Oh, they lowered Derek White's joint. You said lower? No, they lowered it. Oh, they lowered it.
Starting point is 00:05:31 You got Derek White, higher 9.5 points. And LeBron James. Celtics are at the Raptors. You got Demetrius, Jermel Morant, higher 19.5 points. You know him as Josh. Julius Randle, higher 5.5 rebounds against the Warriors. And LeBron Raymond James Sr.,
Starting point is 00:05:49 higher 19.5 points. I'm saying, did you... Lakers versus Heat. Like, all of them... They're different? Yeah. So look at what I sent you. Uh-oh.
Starting point is 00:06:00 Uh-oh. Somebody got some explaining to do. No, no, no, that's fine. Are you rolling? No, no, that's better. That roll. No no that's that's better cool That's better. Hey with it. Okay, they saw your pics that we can't let you go that that's why I'm with that How does everybody else with the other best feel about Kenya's partner pack for the evening? We're good to me yeah, you know put my bed in now, okay, mr. B is already riding
Starting point is 00:06:25 Yes, sir. Yeah. I've already taken it. Already taken it. OK. Nice. You rolling? I seen it in there, and I was like, I got $3 on it.
Starting point is 00:06:36 That's all I had left. You can win $3. You can win $2.75. So that's all you won from yesterday? No. So you won yesterday. No, no. When I have money, lose.
Starting point is 00:06:46 Yeah. Soon as I have no money and I got to make the pick-ems, win, win, win. That's when you bet the dollar. No, when I have no money, I just got to put my picks in. I've won the last, what, four out of five. Yeah. Can't even capitalize on it because I ain't got a dollar to my name. Well, now you have 30.
Starting point is 00:07:07 But I'll bet the three. So, we asked the chat if they're riding or fading. Do we have those numbers? I like that one. I liked it. It was at 70% when I last looked at it. 76. Now it's jumped up to 76%. 70! Six six not 55
Starting point is 00:07:29 It's gonna keep going just almost 80 they're supportive of Kenya's prison Yeah, you I didn't even know they got that high. I just thought it was just a 50 50 goddamn chat. Yeah Shit with me, huh? All right. Sending a subtle message to you, Gil. No, because sometimes it look like you just randomly be picking shit, though. Like, on some of them, you be good,
Starting point is 00:07:54 like we be going with you. Uh-huh. And on some of them, it look like you close your eyes and whatever one your finger land on. Nah, I be looking like the Kuzma. Yeah, like, yeah. Kuzma shit's been bad all month. So like 29 and a half, you ain't been breaking 20.
Starting point is 00:08:11 Well, those are hard, because you know they're going to get smashed. And then boom. You don't know how long everybody going to play. See, I stay away from them dudes, man. Them dudes who one good game, one bad game. One good game, one bad game. No, you got to go with the guys that's consistent.
Starting point is 00:08:24 Yep. Right? The guys that's playing for something. I'm going to surprise y' one bad game. No, you got to go with the guys that's consistent. Yep. Right? The guys that's playing for something. I'm going to surprise y'all real quick. Gil, do you remember what happened on this date, 2007, in your career? Uh-oh. 2007 what exactly? What's the date?
Starting point is 00:08:36 Today's January 15th. Is it Martin Luther King Day? No, that's Monday. That is on Monday. But that date has moved historically. But that's Martin Luther King Day, right? Yeah. Monday. That is on Monday. But that day has moved historically. But that's Martin Luther King Day, right? Yeah. Anyways.
Starting point is 00:08:48 Go ahead. What is it? With the turnaround. Yes. Jazz ass. 51 points against the Jazz and the game winner where you turned away your best performance in Martin Luther King's Day history. Oh, like that was MLK Day games.
Starting point is 00:09:04 That was MLK Day. Yeah. January, like that was MLK Day games. Yeah. January 15, 2007 was MLK Day. Until like... Yeah, you had a dream you were gonna bust somebody's ass. Until the recent like new crop then, you know, went up in there. Like Dame, I think Dame hit 60, right? On MLK Day?
Starting point is 00:09:18 Yeah. Shout out Martin Luther King. Yeah, but the turnaround. Yeah, turnaround. It was the turnaround, famous turnaround. Yeah, but if you like Kenyon's pics and his partner pack, go ahead, go to the underdog app. And if you don't have underdog, use promo turnaround. Yeah, turnaround. It was the turnaround. Famous turnaround. But if you like Kenyon's picks and his partner pack, go ahead and go to the Underdog app. And if you don't have Underdog, use promo code GILD,

Starting point is 00:09:44 If you can't watch the show live with us on YouTube, we got audio versions available on Apple, Spotify, wherever you get your podcasts. So it seems like we were talking a lot about Jimmy Butler and the Heat. We got to talk a little more. We got some new developments. So with Jimmy Butler's seven-game suspension
Starting point is 00:09:57 set to end following the Heat's game against the Lakers Wednesday, Butler could be back on the court Friday for their home game against the Nuggets. According to Shams, Butler and Pat Riley met face-to-face recently, and in that meeting, Butler told Riley he wants to be traded and will never sign another extension with the Heat. So as previously reported, if a trade isn't made before the deadline and Butler is forced
Starting point is 00:10:17 to stay in South Beach, he would opt into the final year of his deal to force the Heat to trade him. He said he's under that? That's reportedly coming from his camp. He said he's going to do that? That's reportedly coming from his camp. And then he has to play, right? You previously said he might have to fake the backyotomy. Right, and just sit out? Figure out some
Starting point is 00:10:33 way to sit out. For what it's worth, he said that if he does have to come back, he will play to the best of his ability. Heat have also said they don't want him to chill at the crib. He's going to earn his bread. Will Jimmy Butler play another game in a Heat uniform? None of this makes any sense. I've said this a bunch of times.
Starting point is 00:10:56 If the employee is disgruntled, why do you trust him with your business? There's no other business or thing in life like if you... If I'm cooking for you and you're a horrible boss in my mind, do you really trust the food I'm giving you? No, I don't spit in it, put my nuts in it. Whatever, I'm going to do whatever it takes to feel comfortable with giving it to you so I can feel gratification inside.
Starting point is 00:11:26 So you're saying he don't want to be here, and I'm supposed to let him go out there and play and think he's really trying to win for this organization, right? Do I think the game winner's on the line, he going to take it, or is he going to pass it? Ah, go ahead, Bam, shoot that. Or go ahead, Mark. Like, I can't trust it.
Starting point is 00:11:52 So unless you have that kind of confidence that he's going to fully go out there and play to his ability to be traded, you're stuck. It's one of those, it's the same thing with Ben Simmons. Like, what do you think he's going to go out there? He's really not going to do anything, you're stuck. It's one of those, it's the same thing with Ben Simmons. Like, what do you think he's gonna go out there? He's really not gonna do anything for you. It doesn't benefit your business that he's out there just half-assing it. But does it send a message if he just do go out there
Starting point is 00:12:16 and just get it done, too? He has no, he has no, like I think. But now it's affected the whole team now, too. So you have his teammates even, like, is he going hard for real? Is he really trying to win this game? Like, it's not just about him anymore. I'm going to go out there and, motherfucker,
Starting point is 00:12:32 win 27 straight games for you? Fuck no. No, not even for you. Just for yourself. But there's the other side of it, too. If you're Jimmy... Then we ain't saying for him. Then we ain't saying for him.
Starting point is 00:12:42 We ain't saying for the organization. I mean, but his play is for him. Yeah. Don't you want to play well to set yourself up to get more bread? Like, are you going to deliberately? In hindsight, yeah. I mean, but, okay. But Jimmy is who he is.
Starting point is 00:12:52 Because you out anyway. You understand what they're getting. You out anyway, so. Okay, let's say he goes out there and he takes 25 shots at halftime. And he's 10 for 25 20 for 25 has benefited him and then what if he say I ain't shoot no more in the second half Yeah, well, I mean, but why would you do that? Like if you just I don't care to win, but what I'm saying is still the thing
Starting point is 00:13:16 I don't so just play then so just play just keep your value. Why they gonna have value is what it is at this point There's nothing he's gonna do to go He's going to opt into that 52. So he's getting that. If they don't trade him for it. From them. His value is what it is at this point. So whoever's going to get him, they know what Jimmy Butler is capable of doing.
Starting point is 00:13:40 He just don't want to do it there. He still can go and help somebody win, and people know that. He just don't want to do it there. So either way it go, he going to get his money from them or somebody else. So he can't really help or hurt his value? It don't matter. His value?
Starting point is 00:13:59 His value, no. Not at all. Whatever it is, he's going to opt into it. If it's an extension with somebody else, that extension is going to came whatever it is. He's gonna Opt in it or whatever is if it's an extension with somebody else that extension is gonna be what it is at this point, right? But you still got a plan today. I don't have to you don't have to but I'm just why would you want him to? We've suspended for seven. So what if we just be like, all right, cool. Well, then you just gonna sit there. That's cool The only person who still got to pay me though, that's the thing. That's fine, yeah. I mean...
Starting point is 00:14:28 I'm not around for you to say conduct detrimental anymore. So you can't use that to fine me anymore or suspend me. And that's why they want him there. They don't want him at home. That's why they want him there. So for him to say something, do something, be late, do... They can just keep... Right, so they can keep that.
Starting point is 00:14:42 And taking his money. Instead of... But... And that's the bad part about it. Yeah. The bad part about it is this. This is not 1975 and 1980. Those tricks do not work anymore. Right now, you got two scenarios.
Starting point is 00:15:04 Jimmy Butler, he can go out and score 50 every game. His value is what his value is. He can go out there and score zero for y'all every game. His value is his value. On your end, whatever you do hurts your trade comeback. Right? So if you put him in a game for two minutes thinking you're fucking with him,
Starting point is 00:15:27 the buyer is hoping you do that. You're not the only businessman here. Right? I want you to scarf your shoes up. Uh-huh. Okay, there was 1,000. Now it looks like 900. Now it looks like 800.
Starting point is 00:15:44 Ooh, 750. Hey, hold on 200 I got your 200 for those. I got somebody who can fix those scars And that's that's what the organizations have forgotten They're so busy trying to damage it because they think it makes them look bad But you have to get something back in return, and whatever you're making it look like is what you're going to get back. See, at some point, let's say him and Kawhi, that's a great trade, back and forth, right?
Starting point is 00:16:16 Star for star. The more you look, Jimmy, look bad, you're giving him away, but you're not going to get Kawhi back. You're going to get pennies on the dollar back. Don't you want your full price? Don't you want a player that's worth 52 fucking million? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:31 If you want a player that's worth 52 million back, you can't damage your product. So we got an update from Chris Haynes saying, the Heat are considering changing Jimmy Butler's suspension designation from conduct detrimental to the team to refusal to provide services. The change would double Butler's fine amount. Yeah, now they're just trying to take money from him. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:53 Refusing to provide services. Detrimental to the team because once you have that, once, like you said, you can't punish him for that. Wait, how does that double unless they can suspend him for seven more games? No, I think the rule, like the fines up, right? They come in after the fact to change the suspension? No, no, no, that's what I'm saying. So like the detrimental is an X amount, and then I guess this is more?
Starting point is 00:17:14 No, a game check is a game check. A game check is a game check. He's losing games. So that's bad. You lose a game check. Oh, he's just losing games. So if they say refusal to something, that might be a longer suspension versus detrimental.
Starting point is 00:17:28 So, yeah, how is it doubling? Correct me if I'm wrong. That fine money goes back to the team? They get the pocket money? That's one thing we've never figured out. Doesn't it go into the players' association? We've never figured that out. Or donations and stuff?
Starting point is 00:17:40 We do not know. Charity starts at the home. Because at the end of the day, it's... That's just us. If you're the the home. Because at the end of the day, it's... If you're the... Fuck. Look at it like this. If you're the owner of the team, right, and you're fining him... He's lost 2 1⁄2 million.
Starting point is 00:17:53 Why would you want your money going to a foundation? No, bitch, I'm gonna keep that. The Jimmy Butler Foundation. The fuck? I'm not gonna still write this check, because if I still gotta write a check, give me my motherfucking player. Like, what the fuck are we talking about?
Starting point is 00:18:09 Right? I mean, just think about, like, the concept of it. Like, he's missing $2 million. That should be money in my pocket. I get to keep my money versus I still got to write the check, but it goes to the foundation that I don't know what they do with it.
Starting point is 00:18:22 Nah. Well, it seems like they're changing that because he's probably not planning on playing anymore this season. Yeah, so they're trying to figure out how to keep suspending him. So we asked the chat. Then you go to the league and get involved
Starting point is 00:18:35 and ask, do you want to play? Yes. Yep. Real simple. I want to play. I want to play. Want to play real hard. Real hard. I want to play real hard. Real hard. 48 minutes. Like Jimmy Butler. That is the funny part about Jimmy Butler, though,
Starting point is 00:18:54 just the way he plays. You're going to be able to tell immediately. What Jimmy's previously said. You're going to be able to tell if he's playing hard or not. A whole bunch of fake dives on the floor running in the crowd like jimmy's previously said that he doesn't really start trying hard till after the all-star break you're gonna try hard today you know just i just you know how to put your listen you know how to put yourself in positions not to be open
Starting point is 00:19:17 we know how to get open you know how not to get you know how to get, you know how not to get open. You know how to get open, you know how not to get open. So all you got to do is play like you're tired the whole game. You know how when you need a break offensively, you know where to go. You know where to go. You've been, you done made four trips, you've been had to guard this person, that person, fast break this, you're like, I need one of this player. You go, I'm going to go over there. Ball over there, start posting up on this side swing it
Starting point is 00:19:47 Soon as it gets in the middle and then go set a screen like go back to that side Flare for the five Yeah. Put the hand up. You got to put your hand up. Old school. Are you allowed to do that? You never set this player screen for me. Why did we do that? Why did y'all? Hand off, hand off, hand off. I'm going to set one for you. Okay, now the defense knows too, but let's dive a little bit deeper.
Starting point is 00:20:17 So according to NBA insider Jake Fisher, there have been multiple transgressions with Butler during his time with the Heat, including Butler skipping shoot-arounds and taking private flights separate from the Heat's team charter. But according to Chris Haynes again, who made an appearance on the Dan Lebertar show Tuesday, Butler did take private flights separate from the Heat, with the bulk of those trips coming during the 2023 NBA Finals when Butler went to visit his ailing father before he passed away. So, Gil, you've touched on this a little bit, but is the He Smear campaign on Jimmy Butler
Starting point is 00:20:46 an effective strategy to get a trade done? We're hearing information being leaked from both camps right now, trying to pay Jimmy as this bad guy. And Gil, to your point, if I want to trade this dude, why would I, I would say model citizen? That's what I said. Great coffee. They're so stuck in
Starting point is 00:21:02 old school thinking. You're a businessman. It's gray coffee. They're so stuck in old school thinking. You're a businessman. It's time change. Would you buy something that has this type of value on it? No. Right now, if a movie gets fucking all thumb down, thumb down, thumb down, nobody's going to watch that shit. Right?
Starting point is 00:21:26 So that's the same thing here. You better trick me. Thumb up. Best one in them. Put some billboards up. Oh, have some fake interviews. Then say, oh, this is the best movie I ever see. Y'all do it all the time to us.
Starting point is 00:21:39 We're going to watch a movie like, oh, man, that's some bullshit, man. I'll be like them people in New York, Fifth Ave. Selling bootlegs. Fake one. How good is the bootleg? Oh, straight from the company. Straight from the company.
Starting point is 00:21:53 Don't get no better than A1. Soon as you get home, whole nigga walking through it. Just, hey ma, hey, how you doing? I done already spent my money, fuck. I done already fucking spent my money. Somebody in the movie talking about, shh, this is my favorite part. Straight from the company. I don't already spend my money fuck Straight from the company straight from the company straight from a you wanted to listen all the time Right our resident New York experts. They want you to know the bootlegs are mostly on Canal Street
Starting point is 00:22:18 Now not fit that Fifth Avenue has the real stores Then we're to be out there next week talking shit about it. Like, man, come on, man, you're selling me this shit. There ain't even nothing on here. Oh, my bad. I got A1. A1 now.
Starting point is 00:22:35 This one's the real deal. All right, let me try that one out. Same shit, man. Same five dollars. Same five dollars. Same five dollars. So, bringing you to my next next question who looks worse in this situation Jimmy Butler or the Miami Heat Miami Heat Miami Heat
Starting point is 00:22:52 Hmm Miami Already got a problem just change for everything all the positive here about he culture They do have a problem convincing players came obviously you had opportunity to sign with the heat and saw what the regimen was gonna look like Reconsidered they do have a problem bringing the Stars in. Wait a minute. Is that really why you didn't go? It was one of them. It was like the ego, though.
Starting point is 00:23:10 It played a factor. Jimmy did a lot for them, though. I wouldn't say it was the main factor, but it played a factor. What was, like, the biggest, like, absolutely not? No, no, no, in the Heat stuff. It was, at the time, it was, what, 2012, 2012 30 I was 34 30 I wasn't trying to do all that like all that extra cardio and shit like they telling me like we do this you got body fat you got this tested I'm not I ain't got to worry about the body fat shit but still I'm not
Starting point is 00:23:40 I'm gonna show up I'm gonna be in shape and let my place speak for itself. And it was like, no, we do this, we do that. All this other shit, great. What y'all do around here is wonderful, but... Like being in a prison with the ocean view, I believe what you said. It's just... It's just one of them things is they just... Like, I think you don't...
Starting point is 00:24:06 You don't think I have eyes. Like, you don't think we didn't see Jimmy Butler take that team to the finals. Twice. Twice. That team to the finals two times. I'ma just be honest with you. I don't give a fuck what you say about him.
Starting point is 00:24:31 Just... Yeah, we offer you... Listen, them offers start off great. The more you reject them, then we know you're going to get desperate at some point. Yeah, they ain't going to get desperate. Because at the end of the day, we don't need you. We're paying on Jimmy. Jimmy don't want to play.
Starting point is 00:24:51 He's saying the right words. I'm not playing here no more. So as a buyer, I'm hoping he's standing ten toes down. Because at some point, I'm offering you this. You reject it. As long as he's standing ten toes down, you have to lower your price. Yeah. And I think in Jimmy's defense, he hasn't said this stuff publicly.
Starting point is 00:25:09 There's just reports coming from his camp. He's trying to protect his bread. How come his agent went crazy on Shams like that on Twitter then? Huh? Theatrics, you know. Like, was there, like, a motive for that? Or, like, why? It's wrestling. But, like, why? When they knew that was going to happen, he motive for that? Or, like, why?
Starting point is 00:25:26 It's a wrestling. But, like, why? When they knew that was going to happen, he could have just said nothing, right? But he's trying to save face. Because he's trying to say, like, this is, like, actually coming from him. You're trying to save face. Yeah, because, like, a week later, it was...
Starting point is 00:25:39 We asked the chat who looks worse. 75% said the Heat and Pat Riley. So, chat supportive ofimmy butler shout out player empowerment but let's keep this thing moving uh suns pulled up to atlanta to take on the hawks and the suns were riding a three-game win streak in my life but they have not won in the atl since 2014 and trey young made sure the losing streak continued so ice tray came through with the season high 43 points going 13 for 31 from the field and 6 for 12
Starting point is 00:26:08 from deep along with 5 assists and 3 steals. Uh-oh. Look. Trey Day. Yeah, like I said, Suns have not won in Atlanta, which I thought was crazy since 2014. March 2014.
Starting point is 00:26:23 Lord, Magic City, y'all. Atlanta getting the dust. Magic City for the win. Magic City won again. I've heard they have delicious chicken wings. But Onyeka Okongwu came off the bench, added 22 points, 21 rebounds. Devin Booker led the Suns with 35 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 of 6. D. Book was 7 for 14 from deep.
Starting point is 00:26:44 KD had 31, 8 boards, and six dimes. So Booker and KD combined for 66 points with the rest of the Suns, combining for just 51 points. Ooh. As long as he gets going, it's hard to stop him. Shout out Trey. So let's talk some Trey. We got to give him some love.
Starting point is 00:27:00 Last week he dropped his third 20-point 20-assist game this season in a win against the Jazz in Utah, which included him hitting a half-court buzzer beater for game. Trey's the first player with three 20-20 games in the season since John Stockton did it back in the 89-90 season. And Trey has averaged 23 points in a league-leading 11.9 assists. We rounded up on this show, so we're going to say 12 per game this season. The Hawks are in the playoff hunt, currently the ninth seed, but just a game behind the Pacers for the sixth spot in the East. How many points a game this season. The Hawks are in the playoff hunt, currently the ninth seed, but just a game behind the Pacers
Starting point is 00:27:26 for the sixth spot in the East. How many points a game? 23. Okay. 23 and 12. 23 and 12. All-star him. That's what he averaged?
Starting point is 00:27:35 Is Trey taking it to another level this season? No, he's just doing what he's doing. He's doing what he's doing. He's been like this for years. Samantha, it's fun to watch, right? He gets his teammates involved. Can have big outputs as we see scoring. And 23 and 12 is, right?
Starting point is 00:28:10 Why don't more ball-dominant guards get off of it more like he does? We're still going to talk, Trevor. I just wanted to know. This is a part of the trade discussion. Because you can do it because you got the ball in your hand so much you can get off you can still score 23 at night which is good taking 17 shots 18 shot tonight instead of taking 23 24 25 shots they want to score 30 King so they want average 30 when 30. When I was... When I was being called the ball hog, right,
Starting point is 00:28:49 I went to the journal managers like, you know what, I'm gonna try to average 10 assists. Mm-hmm. So, you know, I'm gonna pass the ball a lot more. And then he said, how are you gonna do that? And I said, you know, I'm just not gonna attack. Then he said, you're never going to average 10 assists. I was like, what?
Starting point is 00:29:12 He said, passing the ball and creating shots is two different things. You can make 100 passes and get five. The guys you're passing to are just certain type of players. No matter how you pass it, they don't get what. I understand. He said, so you have to be aggressive still with the idea of instead of shooting it, make that pass. Yes.
Starting point is 00:29:30 That's what he's great at. Yes. He's attacking 10 out of 10 times. Other guards don't understand the concept, right? They're like, oh, I only took 20 shots, but when you wasn't shooting, what were you doing? So... So that's why James Harden has high assist.
Starting point is 00:29:47 That's why Russell Westbrook has high assist. Even with John Stockton. John Stockton was an attackable. J. Kidd coming full speed at you. Like, I'm about to score. I make you play defense on me. You have to stop me. Once you, okay, now I can go.
Starting point is 00:30:03 So there is really an art to it And he's perfected it Yeah, so I look at like yeah like Nash That's why I said even John Stockton like when you when he's coming off that pick and roll He's actually looking to score then pop like you like he's making me shoot miss fucking running hook off the backboard I'm gonna yeah drop it to my big and let him, or I'm going to, like, so... Yeah, and it's, like you said,
Starting point is 00:30:32 it's, like, you have to want to do it. You have to want to get your guys involved. I don't know if it's IQ, like you were just saying, but it's... You're supposed to be in really good shape. Nope. Okay, look at somebody like Ben Simmons. Always having to move around. Ben Simmons is a point guard who is unselfish, right? He's passing the ball, but he's only averaging six, seven assists.
Starting point is 00:30:55 But he passes the ball more than everybody else. Yeah, because he's not a threat to score. But he says he's not a threat to score, so nobody's leaving their man to stop him. Just, ah, you're not forcing me to make a decision because you're not scoring. Now, if you sitting there coming down the lane dunking every time, at some point, oh shit, he's scoring.
Starting point is 00:31:15 And it becomes easier. Yeah. So yeah, I just, yeah, because he makes the game easy. Who's ball and dominant that you think should be... Average of more assists? Average of more assists. Jalen Brunson, Tyrese Maxey. Who else? LaMelo Ball.
Starting point is 00:31:38 LaMelo Ball could probably add four or five. There's a lot of guys that fit that. What's the boy in Sacramento? Fox. I was about to say De'Aaron. De'Aaron Fox. There's a lot of guys that fit that. Yeah. What's the boy in Sacramento? Fox. I was about to say De'Aaron. De'Aaron Fox. Who else? There's...
Starting point is 00:31:52 And I think they're all capable, but it's like more of a want to... So you want two point guards then? No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. Be aggressive. No, but I'm saying like... But instead of... I still feel like Trey is still a true point guard.
Starting point is 00:32:06 Like, he can score, but he's still just. Like, he can score that thing when he. Like, Russ. 4-3 last night, right? Okay, so look at Russ and look at James Harden game, right? Okay. Right? Who passes the ball more?
Starting point is 00:32:20 Him, them two, or Lonzo Ball? Them two. No, pass the ball. Who passes the ball? Lonzo. Lonzo. Right, Lonzo passes the ball. He passes the ball up.
Starting point is 00:32:33 He's gone. He's thrown. It's one dribble ahead. It's those passes. Because if it's not in an aggressive manner, he don't have the assist to match how much he gives the ball up. Versus James patting that pop pop pop pop pop pop pop. Coming down the lane, psych. Yeah. Coming down the lane, score. Coming down the lane, psych. Right? So, if James
Starting point is 00:32:55 Harden can make 20 passes and get nine assists, Ball can make a hundred passes and get seven assists. Yeah, but James is a scorer first. I know, but... So you can still be that, right? So he's a scorer first, but he averaged more... Won't you still be that? But... He averaged more assists than a passer.
Starting point is 00:33:12 He averaged more assists than a true passer. But you know what I'm saying? So you can get down here, still be... Because the threat is that you... Now you're afraid what I'm finna do. Yeah. Like, I got your attention now. All eyes on you now.
Starting point is 00:33:24 When you coming off, we paying attention to you. Mm- now when you coming off we paying attention to you our game plan You number one on our game plan on our scouting report. You're number one He's this he's the average in this he does it all these things on it So now when you you making this move instead of like I said instead of shooting this shot. Mm-hmm, right? Running hook off the glass the three level off the glass, got the fucking dots on the backboard now to teach you what level you need to throw it off the backboard to score. I think that's going to take this GA to a new level, too. It's that.
Starting point is 00:33:54 No, it's, right? It's the corner. He opening the corner now. Or it's lob to my big, like, so it's, right? Instead of telling my big, go get it off the glass, which could ball take a funny bounce off the rim he need me not getting it he can go sit be right in front of that motherfucker that bitch bounce this way now and now yeah right now you're out of position okay now the mother running back on deep night last one back on D like now you could have logged it to him
Starting point is 00:34:19 got it done now everybody the crowd going crazy now he happy you didn't got him involved instead of him watching you left hand, this left hand shit that you just started working on this summer. Like looking like Luca, right? Luca's averaging, Luca averaged 33. Genesis.
Starting point is 00:34:39 Because he's so aggressive the whole time. You have to be in help mode. And they should be gross. I think it's IQ, then. It's just understanding. I think it's all IQ. You can be selfish as you want. Yeah, because you can be...
Starting point is 00:34:56 You can be as selfish as you want, but if you understand that... It's easier to pass the ball to get people open. Cade Cunningham has figured it out, right? Oh, yeah, Cade. He has figured that. So aggressive, like, oh, shit, you got to stop. Right now, you got to, he has figured that part out.
Starting point is 00:35:10 He's fitting that. So it could be done, right? So I just, and shout out to Trey, man. Like, we always been saying on this couch, he's a lot of disrespect coming his way for years. He's been doing this for years, going in playoff, hostile playoff environments, him being the number one option
Starting point is 00:35:28 and winning playoff series year in, year out in tough environments. Nah, man, he deserves all the love he should be getting, man. Like, he... Yeah. Finally. You got top five assist leaders
Starting point is 00:35:41 so far this season. So you got Trey at 11.9, Jokic at 9.9, Kay Cunningham 9.4, Halliburton 8.8, and LeBron Raymond James Sr. 8.9. So Halliburton is the only one. See what I'm saying? He's the only one that's...
Starting point is 00:35:54 And he's not a scorer. And he don't fit the scoring at... He don't have the scoring ability as some other dudes. He's more like a... See, Halliburton will fit into the Jason Kidd style. Yeah, I'm gonna attack you and make you, right? I'm gonna pass it up too but I'm gonna pass it up too but I'm gonna
Starting point is 00:36:11 I'm gonna get in these creases and make you so you see who's leading the league in this. Yoke is his second. No, trust me. I wouldn't have known none of this. I wouldn't have known none of that unless the... unless he asked me how I was gonna get it.
Starting point is 00:36:28 Because I've just figured, like, all right, I'm gonna just, you know, throw the ball in, pass it, just come off the screen. And he was like, yeah, you come off the screen, but who is that, though? Like, you're gonna throw it into the big man. What is he gonna do with it? You know, you're not gonna get assists from that.
Starting point is 00:36:43 He still has to be aggressive. Yeah right you throw the ball down him now He got to try to figure out how to make a move this court That's not just it make it easy for drive down the lane make that big make that big commit give it to him two points guaranteed and I had to start looking at like is a skill because we don't come because our natural instincts as boo We're gonna come help. Yeah, right naturally. We see you coming at the rim, like, oh, we're going to come help. Yeah. It's, I'm saying, now instead of this one, you got to be athletic now. I'm saying, you had Brandon and Etan, you could have, both of them was.
Starting point is 00:37:16 Yep. And I was like. Yeah. Ah, yeah. I'm already here. Yeah. I'm already here. This is 99%. I done did all this hard work to get here.
Starting point is 00:37:27 I might as well. I don't need them two extra assists. I ain't trying to breed this record. I'm six years too late, motherfucker. I'm just going to be honest with you. Meanwhile, I got my point guard running. I'm trying to, hey, let's get it, Jack. I see he coming down.
Starting point is 00:37:50 Dump. What the fuck are you looking at? Yes. You go back and film like he didn't even look. Hey, look. Some of that shit, I'll go back to this day. He didn't look, man. Shout out to him.
Starting point is 00:38:01 When did he look? Yeah, when? When did he look? Nigga, count the feet. One, two, three, four. God. Steps, God. Too late.
Starting point is 00:38:08 It's like, I know King. Here go King. Here go steps. No, there's a play against Philly. When he went baseline, I'm coming down the middle. I don't know how he saw me. There's no way he looked.
Starting point is 00:38:17 Is that the one where he... Yes, that one. Don't know when he looked, how, when, to this day. I'm going to just be honest, man. I'm even shooting first layer I'd be watching some I'll be watching basketball and
Starting point is 00:38:31 There be plays that happen and I'd be like yo What was going through your brain? I didn't there's a famous one of Rondo it was wrong on the fast break. He did a move, went up. I think he went up, he got Bron to jump, and then he made the behind-the-back pass. I'm like... Yeah. That was a layup.
Starting point is 00:38:56 Yeah, and I'm just, you know, just that movement. That's the J.K. one. Yeah, just that J.K. when he comes in, instead of reverse, he flicks it with the wrist. Like, the fuck do y'all be thinking about? That shit's just... That's just... Different. Just impressive. Yeah. So, we did an American Express commercial
Starting point is 00:39:12 when we was with the Nets, me and J.K., and they had it where he was sitting doing the eye exam. And, like, there was eyes in the back of his head. They told me, like, hey, Ken, they tore in your car. Like, you saw it in the back of your head. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Nah, it was just some of that head, they told me, like, hey, Ken, they tore in your car, like you saw in the back of his head. No, it's just some of that shit, man.
Starting point is 00:39:28 It was just, like, the spin lob shit, right? I don't know why more people don't do that. Because they can't see it. That shit is crazy to me, man. Athletic as these fucking guys are these days, that spin lob, man, but guys don't post up so
Starting point is 00:39:46 that's the thing i gotta i gotta be a threat in the post for you to fight me in the post yeah for me to spin off of you so yeah some guys anthony davis does it something he can do it bam out of bayou can do it some days some guys i would do that shit with them boys in dallas they can do it both of them can do it Yep, both of them mufflers can do it There's a few that can still do it. But Yeah, just passes like that. Like I'm a ducking hard. I'm gonna make you fight me I'm I'm out the back door and you know the thing is, you know, the ball gonna be there
Starting point is 00:40:19 No, we're to jump water throw it I'd be like I mean like, you, you know, when people make some passes, like I seen Zoe, when he threw it underhand, and that little flick where it came up and went down. I'm like, God, what makes you think of that? The famous pass that kid threw, Lucius. Oh, that spin, that bowling spin? The bowling spin, and kicked the leg like he was actually bowling,
Starting point is 00:40:42 and the ball slowed down right by the rim, and he picked that bitch up and laid it up. I was, I'm in, I was like, yo, man. Man, that's some good man, man. So just imagine you being, like, you hearing that this is about to be your teammate. Well, I'm in Dallas as a kid watching him play in high school, right? And then you hear, like, oh, shit, J.K., about to be your point guard.
Starting point is 00:41:04 I was at the, I was at the rucka when it happened, man. Let's watch some good basketball. My partner was like, hey man, y'all just got J.K. I'm like, who? He said, when? Right now. Let's go, man. Let's go.
Starting point is 00:41:18 It's a party day. And mine was opposite. Yo, we just got Gilbert. When? Just now. Damn. we just got Gilbert. Win! Just now. Damn! That had to be it. So back to Trey for a second.
Starting point is 00:41:33 Trey averaged 11.9 assists per game, leading the league. Most assists since John Stockton averaged 12.3 assists per game in a 94-95 season. So the second round of fan votes came out last week. Trey currently sitting at fifth for Eastern Conference guards. Don't mean anything. Don't mean anything. It does not. It does not. Who's top five in the guards?
Starting point is 00:41:54 So top five for the East is LaMelo. Donovan Mitchell, Damian Lillard, Jalen Brunson, then Trey at five, Maxie at six. But it brings me to my question. Where does Trey rank amongst the best point guards in the league right now, and do you think that he will make the all-star team this year? If we talk about Trey is the best point guard in the NBA. So you say Trey Young is the best point guard?
Starting point is 00:42:18 Best point guard. Trey Young is the best point guard in the NBA. Yes, he is. Definition of point guard. Point guard, yes, he is. That would be yes. Not the one who just, we put him in. Yeah, not the one, yeah.
Starting point is 00:42:29 Not the guys who we, yeah, because he got the ball in his hand all the time. Not the motherfuckers like me. You just put him in. Hey, you're not small. Put him, give him, you won. Yeah. No, not, no.
Starting point is 00:42:38 The guy that, him. Yeah. Okay. He should make the All-Star game. All-NBA team. Like, this is the shit. Yeah, okay. He should make the all-star game All NBA team Like this shit. This is a tragedy though This boy don't make both of them this year numbers are what they are. Mm-hmm Yeah, yeah, what position SGA play
Starting point is 00:43:00 point guard, okay No Point guard. All right. Not point guard. That's his position, right? He averages five assists a game. All right. That's his position, right? Like, if the definition by him, you're a point guard, I'm a scoring guard at the point. I'm not a point guard. What'd it say? Point guard, right?
Starting point is 00:43:17 Yes, that's what it said. But a question for you, Gill. Okay. The role of the point guard is to initiate the offense by traditional square terms. But they don't initiate it for yourself. I offense by traditional square terms, but they don't Appreciate it for yourself. I mean you're initiated, but you initiated yourself Like as I said is the definition of so you are your your y'all are y'all play the same position But we're not the same on the same guard
Starting point is 00:43:43 But you play my position so I got to guard you tonight. But that's good. But if someone says, because Trey accounts for more points. Because he has more assists. So who's the better point guard? It's Trey Young. He accounts for more points. Points and assists.
Starting point is 00:44:04 So it's come with those assists or threes that he's good. So, you know that right? So you're 31 and 6 is the reason why we're number one in his 12, but that's what I'm saying 23 and 12 But that's your surrounding cast that's a lot come to do with it so everybody young with me, you know, they should Very good basketball players. They young but it. They're very good basketball players. They're young, but they're very, very, very good basketball players.
Starting point is 00:44:28 It should be like another category. Because the guard has evolved, it should be point guards, combo guards, shooting guards.
Starting point is 00:44:39 Okay. When you're trying to figure out... S.J. would be a combo guard? Huh? S.J. would be a... Or something that's called a scoring guard. Something that...
Starting point is 00:44:47 Because if a point guard is out there making his teammates better, like he's really dictating his game. They can luck up against... You don't know his value. Because his numbers don't... Because he's got the ball in him. You're averaging 30. I'm averaging 10 and 10.
Starting point is 00:45:01 Of course your numbers look better because you're more of a scorer than me versus me helping everybody. That why I don't know when they say top so I'm five point guards you got it you got to take out the guys who averaged 30 and four assists because the 30 points will overshadow someone who averaged 12 and 15 assists so what's a combo guard does he play both ends or that's just a two-way play combo guard is a small guard who can't play the two because he's too small. He's not a pure point guard, but he's guarding the point guard.
Starting point is 00:45:31 Dane. Okay. Steph. Tyler Hero. Tyler Hero. Steph. Tyrese Maxey. Maxey.
Starting point is 00:45:38 Kyrie Irving. Fox. Barry Fox. Jalen Brunson. You want me to keep going? No, no, no. The whole NBA. All the best players. All the best players. Like Drew Holiday, like he will fit.
Starting point is 00:45:50 Like you remember like those are the kind of like the old traditional point guard. They're like tweeners at the garbage. They're tweener, yeah. Because when we say tweener, we always talk about a person that can play like the three or four. So a combo guard is just a person that just scores. Because he has the ball in his hand so much, he's going to get you every now and again 10 assists. He's going to have a 10-assist game, 12-assist game,
Starting point is 00:46:16 but he's going to average six, five, six, seven. He ain't going to average more than that. It's like his mental. Like your mental was pass first, score second. Even though you can go for 30, you was naturally thinking pass first. Or 51. The combo guard is thinking scoring first.
Starting point is 00:46:33 So, like, you know, like, let's say Ben Gordon. Mm-hmm. He was a shooting guard, but he has to guard the point guard. Because he's undersized. He's undersized. Okay. So, we asked the chat,
Starting point is 00:46:47 should Trey be an all-Star? 90% said yes. But Steve, we got you over here. They should make that a thing. Like we shouldn't be in the same team. Because he's a big. We're playing the same team. That's New York. That's New York.
Starting point is 00:46:58 They should make that a thing. That's New York. That's New York. Steve, you going to be a hater like that? What did he say? He said no. He said no Listen ten toes down fuck a train
Starting point is 00:47:17 I will say that too if he came my ring bus my Hit him with the money gone. Dog, that's crazy. Understandable, Steve. I get it. One knee, too. He got out. He was in the hood for real. He hit his point.
Starting point is 00:47:31 He hit his point. I'm back in front. That was hard. Trying to get that. He got that. He hit a hard way. I mean, y'all turning around on people was. Hit a hard way.
Starting point is 00:47:39 Hit a hard way. Don't talk about it anymore. A hard way. A box call. We've struck a nerve. We've struck a nerve. Let's talk a little bit about the Phoenix Suns. They busting their ass.
Starting point is 00:47:46 Put them out the playoffs, too. So, before the season started, early in the season, I think we talked Suns. And you guys said you could see it going either way. You could see them being one of the best teams in the league. Would not be surprised if that happened. You could also see it coming the other way. But Suns had championship aspirations after making the move for Bradley Beal summer of 2023. Beal's been relegated to the bench despite making more than $50 million this season.
Starting point is 00:48:08 So Suns finished at the sixth seed last season before getting swept by the Wolves in the first round. And at 20-19, they're currently 11th in the West this season and 5-9 in their last 14 games. So injuries have played a part in their struggles the past two seasons. But what does the Suns situation show you about the state of the Big Three era in the league? It don't work for everybody. It don't work for everybody, but you can have that, man.
Starting point is 00:48:34 But you got to have some dogs around them. Around them. Like, you got to have... Supporting cast is very important. Your supporting cast got to be some, like some real-life animals, man. Very skilled, but animals, man. Like, you got to put just what it is. Them dudes can only carry you so far.
Starting point is 00:48:54 Because, like you said, injuries play a part of it. And having to put one of them on the bench just shows that it's not working. Huh? All three of them are dogs. No, the dogs need to be the rest of the team. No, they're not dogs. They are, but they show dogs. OK, they a dog, though.
Starting point is 00:49:17 He's a very expensive. He's the one you're, Westminster? Yeah, he that... He that motherfucker that... Dog goes? That motherfucker that people paying $35,000 for? He one of them. Like, he ain't saying he ain't, but he one of them really expensive ones.
Starting point is 00:49:34 Because he's really... I'm a... But... Right, so they got two expensive dogs. They got three of them. Three dogs for which they paid a lot of... I think... Still dogs, but...
Starting point is 00:49:44 They got two expensive dogs. I don't want to be disrespectful because they're really good at basketball. Right? Three dogs for which they have paid a lot of... I think... Still dogs, but... I don't want to be disrespectful because they're really good at basketball. Right? Devin Book is really good at basketball. What I mean, dog, you need to go get you some old P.J. Tuckers. Are those still in the league?
Starting point is 00:50:00 You can find them if you want them. No, but... You just can't... You need some guys that make shots. You, but they need to be in the league. You just can't. You need some guys that make shots. You need your Grayson Allen. You need him. 3D.
Starting point is 00:50:10 I'm saying you need him. You need to put the roster together. Absolutely. But when them dudes not available or they hurting or you taking nights off or whatever, you need some dudes who you know what they built on. Right? And they don't have that within that roster.
Starting point is 00:50:29 And within them, like we said, they need a system to play in, for one. They need to know where the shots are going to come from and all that. That's one thing. But. Why hasn't Bobo got in? Y'all just about to scream, free Bobo. I don't understand. At this point, you might as well try.
Starting point is 00:50:46 They got DeAndre Jordan. I was watching him play. Like, even when Yoke is going, they still got another dog. That's what's got to sit on him. Dog. He plays, he... Dog. Every time he plays, you know what he's going to get from him.
Starting point is 00:51:01 I was watching last night, like, whoa. Right? But, yeah, go. I'm like, Bobo,o, at this point in time, the glimpses that we've seen, it's enough for him to get at least five to ten minutes a game. We've seen enough where I think at this point, rewarding him will probably benefit.
Starting point is 00:51:24 You're looking for something for him to get on the court. I think mentally, I think he needs to see success first. I think he needs, because at this point... How long has he been in the league? It ain't got nothing to do with basketball, dog. It ain't got shit to do with basketball. Cool, maybe the basketball might change, dude. I don't think, dude.
Starting point is 00:51:45 I tried. I shit to do about it. Maybe the basketball might change the. I don't think, dude. That's like I tried. Bobo been the head of the team. I personally talked to him. Like, you know me, I kept it a bean with him all the way. This was when he was with Denver, I did the summer league thing, he was playing summer league and all that. And I just saw the mannerisms, the behaviors and everything.
Starting point is 00:52:05 You know what I mean? I pulled him to the side. Had a real honest heart-to-heart conversation with him. And thought I fucking... Thought I did something. Next day. Like, he didn't wait till I left. Motherfucker come back like, man, but you said that motherfucker didn't help at all. No.
Starting point is 00:52:31 The next day. It takes time, though. It takes time for that. But, you know, for him still not to be playing, because this is the reason that he didn't play in Denver, right? It had nothing to do with, because when he played, you see it. That's what I'm saying. You're waiting for him to change. No, it ain't. Maybe, because if he hasn't changed, maybe your
Starting point is 00:52:53 approach towards him might change. But it's too late now. No, it ain't. No, it ain't. You're 19 and 20. Now you're rewarding poor behavior. For what? Because the way I'm doing it might not work, right? Maybe let me try it another...
Starting point is 00:53:11 The way you've been trying it, until you show me something, son, you're not getting off that bench. And he'll get... Okay, maybe, you know, let me try it. Hey, I'm giving you 20 minutes. You're going to guarantee 20 minutes. Let me see what it looks like for a week.
Starting point is 00:53:29 Because... What? He going to hoop? What is the downside? who what is the downside the ball into his court at this point? What is the downside within day I can put the motherfucker back on the bench, which you know, I get it. No, absolutely We're 19 and 20. It's not like we're motherfuckers OKC your 7-3 players maybe I might try a 7-3 But he got type of Kevin Durant have a 7-3 type with Kevin Durant and Some shit my spark and a highlight here boom like you you know something There's always a play that changes you as a person might get dunked on Run like a span of time in Orlando where he was, like... He played well. He's had shown flashes.
Starting point is 00:54:08 He can play, man. When he's out there, he's going to be effective. That's what I'm saying. Think about it. Getting the minutes, consistent minutes. Average nine points per game back with the Magic. We know our mentality when we know we ain't playing. We know how we come to the arena when we know we not... We know how we warm up when we know we not playing. We know how we watch film when we know we not playing. We know how we watch film when we know we not playing.
Starting point is 00:54:27 Ain't got shit to do with me. Oh. Huh? I'm not out there. Phil, for sure, I'll be here. Motherfucker doing everything but watching. Damn, mom. Nigga, your, your, your, listen, your physical is there?
Starting point is 00:54:40 That is it. Your brain is in Australia somewherefail yourself, boy. You thinking about, Lord, no. What the hell have y'all got me in here for? Kentucky Fried Chicken. Hey, Bobo, you paying attention? What day them Jordans come out? I go, what the hell? Them Jordans came out here?
Starting point is 00:54:57 I don't want to be sitting. What about you for lunch Tuesday? It is Saturday. Like, what about them Tuesday? Why is it? What did you...? Tuesday. What did I do? And I remember that groove back in college. What the fuck you doing now? It's your brain.
Starting point is 00:55:11 Listen, boy. Don't let them ask you a question. Put you on the spot. Oh. Oh. So what are you supposed to do there? As much as you want to say, bitch, how do I switch it on? I'm not getting in, so I don't give a fuck.
Starting point is 00:55:22 You want to say that as a player. But now you got to look stupid because he's like yeah Deny wrong see this why you don't get no minutes Even play Wrong, wrong. That's why you don't play now. Exactly. Got caught out in a field session in a game I didn't even play. I was like, what this guy's doing? I did not play this game. What y'all talking to me for? Ask him what he should have did because he did it wrong.
Starting point is 00:55:53 Talk to them. I will never forget that. Because you don't want to say nothing to her. You want to say something to me. That's what you should have. I was like, I would say it right next to you, coach. Nah, but I mean, they need a reboot. What y'all talking to me for? They next to you, Coach. Nah, but I mean, they need a reboot. What are you talking to me for?
Starting point is 00:56:06 They need a reboot, man. Like, there's sometimes you, there's always players on your team that you have that you can put out there and change shit. Oh, my God. Right? You've been a very strong advocate for Bobo. You have been. If Chaz seems to disagree with you, they think Bobo is mid, but Chaz.
Starting point is 00:56:24 It don't matter. Y'all are haters. He's 7'3". Who cares? I'll take mid 7'3". You don't know that he's mid because you ain't seen, you ain't got a consistent boost.
Starting point is 00:56:32 I'm wrong with Bobo since I was little. Y'all need to look up Bobo Orlando Magic Highlights. I'm a proud of man person. Shit. Is T. Jones mid? 16 years old. Is T. Jones mid?
Starting point is 00:56:40 I remember that shit. Say that boy special. As Okuji mid. Like, the whole team is mid. You got three names, four and a half, or four, three and a half with Allen, but the rest of the team is mid. Like, let's see if this mid player might give us a little bit more. If not, he can't do no worse than the other motherfuckers we got on the team.
Starting point is 00:57:02 He's going to get some double. I'm pretty sure for 25 minutes, he can go one for two. Facts. Sure can. You can do better than one for two. I'm giving you 30 minutes. Ah, damn. I mean, let's just be honest here. Gil, I got to apologize to the chat. I'm sorry. I'm sorry.
Starting point is 00:57:18 Just reactionary chat. I'm going to move. You know, we back in the arena. I'm just emotional right now. We asked the chat, should the Suns give Bobo more minutes? 83% say yes. Good job. We got good numbers today. We got Bo Bo fans in the arena.
Starting point is 00:57:32 They missed us. But let me... One more question about the Suns before we move on. Are the Suns the most disappointing team in the Western Conference right now? Most disappointing? Yeah. Because you can say Pelicans, I think. No. The bottom of the West hurt, though.
Starting point is 00:57:48 Pelicans? Zion, Hammy. I'm saying from what the expectations was coming out of this. No. But no injury. Injury. Injury issues.
Starting point is 00:57:55 I was going to say Denver, but they figured it out. No, you got two guaranteed Hall of Famers. Zion, Hammy. Yeah, Phoenix for sure. Sacramento. No. No. No.
Starting point is 00:58:03 No. Suns. OK. You got two. No. No. No. Sons. Okay. You got two first ballot Hall of Famers. Two of them. Steve. Beal, depending on how he finishes his career, is going to be your first ballot. If not, he's going to be a second ballot or a third ballot. But you have three guaranteed Hall of Famers on your team that still is high-level players.
Starting point is 00:58:26 Yes. Even with the people they have around them, they should still be able to go out there and smack on people. So, one of our producers said the Lakers, you've been relieved of your services, sir.
Starting point is 00:58:41 Go ahead, pack it up. Not the seventh place, Lakers. Only 12 games behind the Thunder for first in the world. I mean, those Lakers. The Suns is cooked, man. Okay, who's our best player on that team?
Starting point is 00:58:52 LeBron James? LeBron James is our best player. Strike distance. Easily 12 games. So right now, LeBron James is our best player at 40 years old. That gave you the answer
Starting point is 00:59:01 right there. Because we match him up with KD, right? Or they cancel each other out? Booker and AD, who wins that matchup? And talent-wise, and then who on the Lakers matches Beal's talent? It's going to be Reeves, technically. Matches talent?
Starting point is 00:59:19 Right now? I mean, positionally. All the Reeves is hoping, Gil. Okay. Living daddy. So we're talking about talent. If we take LeBron James and AD off and say, go out there, you're the number one option,
Starting point is 00:59:33 and you say Booker and Katie go off the team, and Bill, you're the number one option, who's doing what? You think, you think Alston Reeves is matching up the production of what's Beal. You think Alston Reeves is matching up to production of what Bradley Beal can do by himself? Is he wearing a headband or not? You think Beal... You think you take...
Starting point is 00:59:52 Alston Reeves has his own team by himself. You think he's leading the league in scoring at any point in time? No. He's not capable. I'm talking about his talent himself. He's not capable of doing that. That's debatable.
Starting point is 01:00:03 Beal has shown he is capable. Leading the league in scoring? You think he's not capable of doing that. That's debatable. Bill has shown he is capable. He's not capable of scoring. You say he's not capable of scoring. That's Lemon Daddy. Leading the losing team. Best billboard in the city. When the defense is saying, we're stopping you,
Starting point is 01:00:13 he's not capable of that. So, yes, that team is failing. Yeah. They got all the attributes that they're supposed to be. They got a coach with a chip. Early in the season, before season started, we said that we wouldn't be surprised if the Suns were the top team in the Western Conference.
Starting point is 01:00:32 Coach with a championship. Bootenhoser. Them three, coach with championship pedigree, experience. Veterans, decent veterans. Yeah, that's... Yeah. Helped high school. Not even being in the plane right now is crazy.
Starting point is 01:00:48 Hmm. We will see if the tides turn for the sun. Not even in the plane. Point guard? It's happening now. What? Fuck you need the ball for. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 01:01:01 You know what I mean? Fuck you need the ball. You over here trying to... like, you can't. It was working. Great assist to turnover ratio. Yeah, because the idea. We're not playing good teams or something. Because the idea of you running the offense sounded great.
Starting point is 01:01:15 Until I'm open and it's taking you too long to give me the goddamn ball. Like, if you're going to be a point guard. Because you're being pressured. If you're going to be a point guard like that you're being pressured. If you're going to be a point guard like that, you have to go back to the Derrick Fishers and the Mario Charmers. You have to go back to those guys. How did those guys play with those stars?
Starting point is 01:01:38 They deliver. They're not trying to run offense. He is the offense. Let me just be... Let me just be ready to... And defend. and catch and shoot and motherfucking pick up full court my god the shit you sit here trying to do this you sit here trying to do this with kevin durant on the court and no brother that's no that's not gonna work
Starting point is 01:01:56 yeah we got some some austin reeve supporters in the chat yeah yeah i was about to go back to that like no I know We talk about taking them two off right now. Yes today and they had to play like right now Yes, right now right you take the two stars off Right now you think awesome Reeves right outscore Bradley Beal also on a nightly basis Austin Reeves gonna have the better game Oh, no, not again. No, not again. Not one guy. They gave him about a season. Oh my game right now I'm told no anybody ever one game by Not a game. We're talking about a season. I'm talking about a game. Right now. Anybody can have a good one game. Anybody can have a good one game.
Starting point is 01:02:27 Oh, a season? Yes. Oh, no. Shit. Oh, no. Thank you, Brandon. Boston Reeves averaging 18, six assists, four rebounds. He averaging 18.
Starting point is 01:02:35 Okay. Give him to him by himself. Yeah. Might be averaging 25, 30. Might be 25. At the by himself, that's 23. Maybe 25. Because the defense now, we're focusing on you.
Starting point is 01:02:45 Okay, that's 25. Because he's going to get a couple more free throws, so that's what I'm... He's going to get to the line. No, because he's at the bar. If he's at number one. Also, if he's averaging what? 18. No, you're not good.
Starting point is 01:02:56 One got put on the bench averaging 18. You got the loophole again. Facts. What is he averaging? He got put on the bench average at 18 so That's the difference you take them off the to what you think he's gonna average Mm-hmm should think all three is gonna average if you give LeBron you off the wall White boy can hoot man. He ain't Bradley bill Bradley Bradley Bill ain't Bradley Bill right now. And what is that?
Starting point is 01:03:27 So right now, I'm taking my chances with Austin Reeves. Right. Bradley Bill not Bradley Bill because he's playing with the two. That's the problem. One is looking like he's playing very well with 18. The other one looked like he ain't doing nothing with 18 because the expectations on him was he led this league in scoring. That's fine. So your expectation of him is here.
Starting point is 01:03:43 That's my point. That is your point. Yes, that is your point. Yes, absolutely. We know that. Why is his standard different? You said it. We know that's your point. Don't mean it makes any fucking sense.
Starting point is 01:03:53 Because your point is you know his ceiling was here. Right, they're the worst team. So we're the worst team right now in the West. 11th. They're not the worst team. I mean, most disappointing. How is his 18 different? It just looked better.
Starting point is 01:04:07 What does that mean? It looked better. He's playing better. It looked better. How? Says what? Says his play. He's playing better than Bradley Bill right now.
Starting point is 01:04:14 Says who? Says me. I said it. What is that? I said 18, and he averaged 17 right now. I said it. He put it on the postcard. I said it.
Starting point is 01:04:23 When he got put on the bench, he was averaging more. What is he averaging right now? 17.5. Okay, well, that's what it is. That's what we say. I said right now. Explain it. I don't care about all that other shit.
Starting point is 01:04:35 I said so. Right now. I'm talking about right now. Okay. That's what I'm talking about. Right now. I'm going with Austin Reeves right now. Over Bradleyville.
Starting point is 01:04:44 Okay. If we're taking those two off, yeah. That man. All right. Shout out Rashad, Move Around Podcast. He got the merch on the Greatness website. Appreciate you, Rashad. Came in a very timely manner.
Starting point is 01:04:54 Very comfortable. Nice fitting. Good. You have one more point you want to make here? I see you out here. For what? Whatever point he fucking wants to make. For what?
Starting point is 01:05:03 Square up. Point for what? Sorry, King. The boy said he fucking wants to make. For what? I'll square up. Point for what? Sorry, K. The boy said he's taking all the reasons. Listen, man. Motherfuckers will have seven wins, maybe, as a team, if that boy was your number one. They'll be exciting wins. They probably would, too, Phoenix.
Starting point is 01:05:18 I mean, they're at the bottom. What's going to be the difference? In the same area. They're going to probably have the same record. He's playing better. See, this is... So, hold on. is, it becomes words, not facts.
Starting point is 01:05:26 See, the facts is, Bradley Bill's shooting 48%, Reeves is shooting 43%. Like, the words don't match reality. Reality is different than opinion. Why are we even comparing
Starting point is 01:05:39 Bradley Bill? I'm just being honest. I mean, you talk about it like you're saying it. Okay, good for you. Who's playing better? And I said Austin Reeves. That's who's playing better and I said Austin Reeves That's who's playing better now now the fact said fuck about the 43 48. That don't mean nothing
Starting point is 01:05:50 You don't that don't mean nothing. No, no So if we're talking stats, but he averaging more points, so yeah, that's what I'm going with the one who's averaging more points there boom Cook cook cook No, you said playing better cook cook. Cook, cook, all three of them. No. You saying it looks better. They've never been a number one.
Starting point is 01:06:08 They're going to never be a number one. Well, today he's the number one. On your bullshit team. Yeah, well. On your fucking losing ass team. Phoenix is a losing team, too. On your goddamn losing ass team. Austin Reeves will be a number one on your losing fucking bum ass team.
Starting point is 01:06:23 Let's keep this thing moving. That dumb ass shit. They both bummed. 38. 38%. Let's keep it moving. Today's podcast is sponsored by SeatGeek. Everyone can use our code GIL and get $20 off any tickets on SeatGeek. Whether you're a new

Starting point is 01:07:01 Do I see you still yeah? I'm just trying to figure out what category. Because Bill's percentage, 3-point percentage is a lot higher. It's supposed to be a legacy. I was just trying to figure it. Figure it. All right, Will S. You know what I've realized? Facts don't even matter no more. Oh, you're just not knowing that?
Starting point is 01:07:23 It don't even matter no more. You know that. Common sense don't matter. no more. You just not knowing that? It don't even matter no more. You know that. Common sense don't matter. We can make anything a fact. It's just something that has hard facts. Yeah, it don't matter. Like, 50%, 20%. 80%, 30%.
Starting point is 01:07:35 Yeah, this one's better. Because I like the way it looks. I said so. Yeah. Cool. The 30% looks. Just fuck the facts. I just...
Starting point is 01:07:44 You're like you said on people that got something to say on your negative comment. Thumbs up, right? Thumbs up. Cool. It's a 30% loss. That's what I'm saying. Just fuck the facts. I just... You're like you said on people that got something to say on your negative comment. Thumbs up, right? It is. Thumbs up. Cool. Nick Young in football. Yeah. One for 40.
Starting point is 01:07:55 Still think he got a chance. But he's better. Yeah. He was better that one. One in 40, but he's 1B. Yeah. Okay. Cool.
Starting point is 01:08:01 All right, then. All right, well, let's keep it moving. Just... You got it, Jack. Going to talk a little defense. So since the NBA introduced Defensive Player of the Year in the 1982-83 season, been dominated by big men,
Starting point is 01:08:13 with centers winning the award 27 times. Shooting guards and small forwards have won the award five times each, power forwards three times, point guards twice. Rudy Gobert, Ben Wallace, and Dikembe Mutombo are tied for the most
Starting point is 01:08:24 Defensive Player of the year in league history, each winning the award four times. Go ahead. Finish. No, no, go ahead. I got a stat. Okay. Go ahead. And in 2022, NBA decided to name the trophy after Rockets legend Hakeem Olajuwon. During a recent interview with Tommy Alter
Starting point is 01:08:40 on the young man in the three, Thunder Wing Jalen Williams has some interesting thoughts on how to address the lack of respect guards get when it comes to the Defensive Player of the Year award. I think they should add a 13, and I think there should be two Defensive Player of the Years.
Starting point is 01:08:52 Oh, interesting. I got a lot to say about the rules. And this is not a diss to any big that gets it, because every big that has gotten it is deserving. Rudy. Jaren. Yeah, Jaren.
Starting point is 01:09:00 But defense is very, like, different for certain players. I can be a really good defender without averaging the most steel like Herb Jones is not like first and steals but if you ask everybody around the NBA who one of the best defenders in the league is he's going to be in the top five conversation so it's like I think if you have a big and a guard defensive so you want to you want to co but they have to be. You can't have like two bigs get it. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:09:27 It would be like a big and a guard. You couldn't do like Rudy and Wendy. It's just a big every year. And I feel like it's just based on like blocks. Like a guard's never had to protect the paint. Yeah. Bigs never had to chase a pin down. Exactly.
Starting point is 01:09:40 So Dikembe has more defensive player of the the Year awards than he has First Team All-Defense. Huh? Dikembe Mutombo has more Defensive Player of the Year awards than he has First Team All-Defense. The same people who vote... Right? It's the same people who vote for everything. Marc Gasol won Defensive Player of the Year,
Starting point is 01:10:00 and the motherfucker didn't make... Did not make First Team... Did not make First Team All-Defense. That happened in our league, too, once. So I don't... Dikembe, four Defensive Player of the year and the motherfucker did not make first team on defense. That happened in our league too once. So I don't... Dikembe, four defensive player of the year of the awards. Three. First team.
Starting point is 01:10:12 All team. So you can't make it through. Defensive player in the league but you don't make first team. I mean it was... That don't make no damn sense. Okay, what he's saying is correct because they've already done it for all NBA. Right? Okay, what he's saying is correct because they've already done it for all NBA. Right. Because you got the runner-up of the best player in the league,
Starting point is 01:10:29 but he's on second team. So you're saying there's five players better than him, but he's the second best player because everything is capped off in position and all of these. Has Tim's gone positionless? My rebound. The Warriors have gone positionless. Now it's positionless.
Starting point is 01:10:48 All of the awards. Like, the defensive player of the year is shit, man. They've got just... There's rebounds, and blocks plays a certain percentage in it. There's just so many nuances in what makes a person an elite defender, and every person who's considered an elite defender they don't play defense the same so there's no way to just particularly identify
Starting point is 01:11:11 i would never average high rebounds because i'm always on the ball i'm guarding the best player i'm contesting shots i'm always away from the basket if i played five if i didn't guard the best player every night. The best defensive player uses the least energy. If you start doing your heart rate and how much movement Rudy does versus like a Conley or somebody, you will realize like Your metrics of defense is wrong Right someone who's picking up full court going through screens Digging down like for for Rudy to be in the post working us man I'm sitting there digging closing out stopping one two boom. He got to pass it down and then you up and then you get the block
Starting point is 01:12:04 That's the block is not the defense there. I had to dig the ball out. I had to make it uncomfortable I had to close out I had to pick up full court. There should be two Standards because you're not judging the guy who made him turn 12 times Yeah, you're not judging you're not considering that defense because it has no impact on the score at this point. But they're trying to run offense at the 19-minute mark. I picked him up, now he's running offense at the 14-minute mark. Where is the defensive credit for that?
Starting point is 01:12:39 And then when you get the end of the shot clock, they try to get, they bring the bigs out to go score. Yeah, because they don't want me on them. But people like ignore that completely because it's end of shot clock, so it doesn't matter that you get blown by every time because you're a big, but you're a defense player of the year. And they run in pick and rolls to get the best defender off of that guy. Exactly.
Starting point is 01:12:59 Trust me. They go out of their way to get that player out of the offense. I guarded some of the guys and the motherfuckers did everything in their power. Mm-hmm. I go out of their way to get my players out of their way. I guarded through some of the guys, and the motherfucker did everything in their power. If I come out there and I'm guarding the two or the three men to start the game, oh, they finna run a pick and roll. Listen, get him off of me. In the Sky Report, do not do pick and roll with this player.
Starting point is 01:13:19 Do pick and roll with these players. He did it. Gil saw me come up there, motherfucker. Man, he don't shit me. Antoine coming? No, no, no. No, no. No, not you. Jarrett, come on.
Starting point is 01:13:30 Melo, Melo, Gar, Jarrett. He going to put Melo in the pick and roll. That's what the, like these are the facts, right? This is, so yeah, no. He been saying that for a while though. They going to run the pick and roll to get, yeah, they going to run the pick and roll to get the best defender off of that guy, right?
Starting point is 01:13:45 Because it's one of those things is, as an offensive player, we can tell you who the D... Like, ask the people who can put that motherfucker in the basket who they're afraid of. The list is gonna look very different than the list they put out. You ask SGA. You ask Trey Young. You ask SGA. You ask Trae Young. You ask Luka. You ask, um... Yeah, all them.
Starting point is 01:14:08 Kyrie. Kyrie. You ask them. All them dudes. Who is the best defender in the league? It's gonna look nothing like their list. It's gonna look nothing like your list. They gonna be like, who?
Starting point is 01:14:19 Yeah. They're the ones that dictate how the pace goes. James Harden, who is your top five defenders? Like, you got to put that in consideration. When Gary Payton on that floor with Steph, I guess what? Man, get this boy off me. Right? Put him in the corner. What can we do to get him further away from this ball as possible?
Starting point is 01:14:42 Like, I'm sitting there getting the getting ready on the ISO, right? He's supposed to be first team all defense, but that big motherfucker back there, you got, you got, let's say, Ben Wallace back. I got Rip on the ISO. I got Chauncey on the ISO. And then Ben slides over, like, now I got to shoot the jumper.
Starting point is 01:15:03 Now it look like he made me shoot a jumper He ain't do shit. It's him back there Reggie Evans back there clothes a lot clothes lining motherfuckers back there and I got a roll walking guard Yeah, his defense looks great now as I ain't trying to get hit Were you saying or what? Oh, what's it? Oh number? I'm saying this, Earl. Earl Watson. Earl Watson was. Or, or, or. Who's on the guard, huh? You said?
Starting point is 01:15:28 Yeah. No, no, he got great defense. Yeah. But it enhances when you got a psychopath back there ready to just throw bowls at him. Like, I don't want to get. He only got two fouls, bro. What fouls to give? No, thank you.
Starting point is 01:15:40 I'm going to shoot a jumper now. He didn't make me shoot the jumper. The guy that's back there, you, that's what I'm saying. You don't know what the offensive player is thinking. That's why you need his opinion. You really need the offensive player's opinion on who actually is out there. I'm pretty sure no one has looked at, no offense, Bucs, and was afraid of Lopez. Oh, shit, Lopez down there.
Starting point is 01:16:04 Let me pull up for some jumpers. But he's winning defense awards because he's down there doing the boxing. Clothes like that's cool. But we're scared of Giannis. We're scared of Tucker. We're scared of... Bobby. Not Bobby.
Starting point is 01:16:23 Tucker. When they want it. When they want Bobby. Tucker. When they won it. When they won it. Holiday. Drew Holiday. But there's three people that, okay, they out there guarding somebody. They actually just dig down. With him.
Starting point is 01:16:39 With another shot blocker. Yeah. So. He's out there making it hard for them to just sit back there and clean up like you can't give the defense of the cleanup guys. Like Rudy doesn't like the big men. They're not guarding the Kimo Lodge ones. The Tim Duncans like position like they actually got to get challenged. They're just out there. Okay. Okay He had the double pump. I get the block. I get the rebound like that is
Starting point is 01:17:10 I'm gonna explain why game go bear has been considered a better defender for compared to Anthony Davis for so long Has anybody like explain that? anti-american There's that they said it's basically rebound rebounds, missed shots, who is the closest to the missed shot. Not who causes the missed shot. Who is the closest person to the missed shot.
Starting point is 01:17:41 What about the guy who did this? Then they add blocks and all that. Because it's like when they explain Rudy Gobert winning defensive player of the year, they like just omit AD from every conversation because I feel like they just don't know how to explain it. Because AD, in his mind, his defense is, these are the guys that I'm guarding and I have to shut down. Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 01:17:57 Right? Which is, so when Hakeem won his awards, we can go back and say, who did Hakeem have to guard? Oh, shit, Patrick Ewing, this person, this person. Like, he's playing defense. And he got the stats to go with it. Yeah, like, he's playing, he's really, like, I got to stop him from this move.
Starting point is 01:18:15 So I can see that. Well, you're just in help defense the whole time, just blocking shots and rebounding. So he's not guarding Embiid and Jokic and the two guys. I saw this out here, but so you There's 30 teams so even when he went on even on the off night You still had to go off Lottie Diva You still had to guard some other beings of sense So we just went that you had to guard these really good. No you had to guard a big every night every night
Starting point is 01:18:44 So you feel like the guards not even when he got when he got his joke when he thought yo He's like you know kids are as when in be play Every like the one who can go all right with busting your ass you didn't go He can't stop the no like the ones on the Lee were like the ones the ones who do score in his They bust his ass. Yeah, because he's not stop. He does nothing with him or Jokic. Or Jokic. Nothing.
Starting point is 01:19:09 Or Sabonis. Nothing. So the five you're naming, they kill him. They bust his ass. They bust his ass. But because there's so many non. We're talking about Rudy. You get to collect seconds.
Starting point is 01:19:20 But that's just anybody. There's only four or five that actually have to guard each other. So for the most part, you're not being challenged. But you got to win one of those matchups if they're in the top five, baby. Because those five, they're not playing no defense at all. They're not getting the block shot. That's kind of how our league is turning. It's just a weird thing.
Starting point is 01:19:42 I thought it all like like Cleveland. I thought Wow thing Reggie out Was the best defensive player on the team? Mm-hmm? You know wasn't LeBron. It wasn't Eric snow Yeah, absolutely, I agree right yes, no he gets no credit none And he was the bus he do huh he do. Huh? From us? From us, when we're in the scouting report,
Starting point is 01:20:06 when that motherfucker... Hey, listen. Watch out for this one. He gonna do this, he gonna take this, he's here, he's there, he gonna hedge, he gonna do this, he... He literally had to... Like, when he was on the court,
Starting point is 01:20:18 I had to actually think when I'm scoring. When I'm trying to score, I had to think. It wasn't just blow by this guy and El Gals says he ain't taking the charge. You know, Darnell Marshall ain't taking the charge. He's just going to do the ole
Starting point is 01:20:31 and do one of these. I can score. With Vrajow, Vrajow was considered a tracker. So if I'm going to start off this way, I got to make him commit then come back this way. So I got to fake like
Starting point is 01:20:41 I'm going to go hard and come back. And even when I come back, I got to make sure I don't just jump because he might be outside that box to take that charge. So that means he helped, came back, and still was in position to try to take a charge.
Starting point is 01:20:54 And there's not a stat for that. Everybody who's guarding me, I'm not worrying about. It's him I'm worrying about. Sub him out. What the fuck? Sub him out. So back to Jalen Williams for a second. His separate defensive player of the year idea got the support of another What the fuck? What's up? What's up? I'm out. So, back to Jalen Williams for a second. His separate defensive player of the year idea got the support of another Jalen in the
Starting point is 01:21:10 league. Celtics wing Jalen Brown tweeted, agreed in response to the clip, but I need your guys' opinions. Do you agree with Jalen Williams saying there should be two separate defensive player of the years for guards and bigs and then there should also be three all defensive teams? Yeah, yeah, I... Yes, a thousand percent. and bigs, and then there should also be three all-defensive teams. Yeah, yeah. Yes, 1,000%. And I think they should give the award out during the playoffs, too.
Starting point is 01:21:31 I can rock with it. Why? In the playoffs and in the finals. Or give out awards during the finals. For the entire body of the season? Include the playoffs in the regular season awards. Oh, so do a regular season version. What, defensive player in the playoffs?
Starting point is 01:21:44 Defensive player of the year. He was saying get the trophy during the playoffs, like on the court, right? That's what he was saying? No, he was saying there should be awards in playoffs.
Starting point is 01:21:52 For defense. Like a defensive player. Like an all-playoff team, all-playoff defensive team. Yeah, see, that's, those are weird ones. Like an all-tournament team type shit.
Starting point is 01:21:59 Those are weird ones because you can have a great-ass first round and then, you know what I mean? And you don't win that award, and somebody who's been mid the whole time but his team gets to the top, he wins awards. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 01:22:12 You know, so it's... That one's kind of hard because everyone's not playing. No, everyone's not on the same playing field. You know, someone's gonna have four games, someone's gonna have 22 games, right? So it's... Yeah, postseason awards would be tough but i like teams in high school though but i like i like the thing like there should be
Starting point is 01:22:30 a guard one yeah and and a big man like or call it what was it one ones the guards and yeah guards and big whatever it is or whatever. They're called forwards. Yeah. The guards fit within that, and then the small forwards on y'all's side. And do you guys think owners will push back on this, especially through all defensive teams? Why? I mean, more contract incentives and more bread for bread. If you say, I don't know.
Starting point is 01:22:58 Defensive. Ain't nobody paying you for all defense, dude. Ain't nobody gonna fuck about your defense. Put the ball in the basket. I'm just being honest. What they say, putting the ball in the basket. Put the ball in the basket. Just be honest. I'm going to just be honest. Yeah, what'd they say? Putting the ball in the basket. Putting the ball in the basket. Like, yes, we want to be acknowledged, but that's it.
Starting point is 01:23:11 You're fucking, you got just 12 steals, motherfucker. You got four points. Good job, son. Here's your reward. 26 million. Yeah. Total. You got nine all-time defenses.
Starting point is 01:23:27 He got a 10-year, $32 million contract. Get the fuck out of here. So, we asked the chat, does the NBA need a 6 for 26? You heard of Bruce Boyd? Yeah, look at his contract. He got five championships. Look at his contract money. That defense paying off. I'm sure
Starting point is 01:23:46 We asked the chat does it just no need for Bruce Ball straight. I got I love I love arena for the first I love when the media pushes I love when everybody pushes the defensive shit, right and we just sitting back here like That's just I know it you say hard and play no deep fish That's cool. I'm it. Look, you say Harden didn't play no defense? That's cool. That motherfucker made $500 million. Exactly. So it's like... He got all the defense wounds, got new teeth and everything because he done knocked them motherfuckers out.
Starting point is 01:24:13 He made $47. I'm good, man. Let me... Fuck this defense. He made $47. Man, I'm good, dog. $47. Hold on. We asked the chat, does the NBA need a Defensive Player of the Year award for guards? 77% said yes. Good job, man. I'm good. $47. Hold on. We asked the chat, does the NBA need a Defensive Player of the Year award for guards? 77% said yes.
Starting point is 01:24:28 Good job, chat. You guys are on fire today. So, question. I was thinking about it since y'all said this. Should there be how baseball does it? They got MVPs for different conferences? They got American League and the National League MVP? Should it be an Eastern Conference, Western Conference? Should be.
Starting point is 01:24:48 More awards for everybody. I'm just asking. Like an MVP? But does the other side play each other like that? Yeah, they still do. They do. Yeah, they play each other. I wouldn't be mad at that.
Starting point is 01:25:00 What? Anything to incentivize the way guys are playing and give them a reward. Or if they do all teams. Or them for that. Like, instead of having like three all NBA teams. Have Eastern and Western. Have an Eastern and Western. Ugh.
Starting point is 01:25:15 It's just one team, Dane. Yeah. You can't have three. No, no, no. We workshop it right now. You can't have three all NBA teams in one company. Oh, no, you have a West all, like a West all NBA. Yes, yes. West all't have three. No, no, no. We workshop it right now. You can't have three all-NBA teams one come. Oh, no, you have a West all-NBA. Yes, yes.
Starting point is 01:25:27 West all-NBA. Yes. East all-NBA. And then just like NBA and NBA all-NBA. No. It would just be two separate. No. Okay.
Starting point is 01:25:35 Not all. No, just five players. One, ten. Yeah, just ten. Five and five. Just ten players. Five on this side, five on this side. No positions.
Starting point is 01:25:43 No positions. Just five and five. Five and five. So let this side. No positions. Just five and five. Five and five. So let's talk a little bit more about the Thunder. Thunder went Philly Tuesday night squaring off against the Sixers squad. That was rough. That were missing damn near their entire team. SGA had another dominant performance as he continues his quest for his first MVP.
Starting point is 01:26:01 Finished with 32 points, nine assists. He was 12 for 15 from the field to help the Thunder improve to 33 and 6 so after the win the Thunder joined SGA for their traditional group postgame interview and put sideline reporter Nick Gallo's professionalism to the test still that main team over there no matter who's in who's out but uh we got it done after a long road trip ready to go home you You made your first eight shots, just continue to be so aggressive and so efficient. Tell me about your night tonight. Yeah, I just try to be aggressive, try to set the tone.
Starting point is 01:26:32 Like I said, long road trip, try to get in and get out. Yeah, and you guys played great on this trip. And the fact of the matter is that you guys faced some really good teams on this trip. And what do you think about the way that this group has continued to respond night in and night out? All right, guys, sure. I'm sorry, Nick. The children, I'm so sorry. I love them. Our expert research staff, producer staff,
Starting point is 01:26:55 counted nine towels being placed on Nick Gallo during that interview. And he did not flinch. Before the FDA scolded him. Obviously, people have varying opinions of the Thunder, these post-game interviews, the things that they do. Draymond was critical of it earlier on in the season.
Starting point is 01:27:08 Jalen Williams caught it weird, but... It is. It is weird. And they doubled down on them. You don't like the team supporting each other like that in the post-game? Oh, no. I'm saying what Draymond said. Oh, what Draymond said.
Starting point is 01:27:20 Okay. I was making sure. I love it. Saginaw? That's fine. That's cool, man. They having fun, man. You got to enjoy it, man. They supportinginaw? That's fine. That's cool, man. They having fun, man. You got to enjoy it, man.
Starting point is 01:27:27 They supporting the guy. They having fun while they doing it, man. I'd rather have... What's the reporter's name? Nick Gallo. Yeah. Professional. I'm a man.
Starting point is 01:27:36 Yeah. No, it's just because what the rest of NBA players got to deal with with reporters on that bullshit, like you, they look like they enjoy talking to you. They generally will prioritize that local
Starting point is 01:27:50 meeting interview over the national one. It seems like they're giving their real personality to you. When you see all of them and they're having fun, that's who they really are. They're enjoying, they're having fun, that's who they really are. They're enjoying, they're having fun. The professionalism, the way you treat them,
Starting point is 01:28:09 they give you themselves. When they get in that locker room and they start becoming robots with their answers, they're not fucking with them other people. You know what I mean? So it's kind of, you know, that's like an honor. Yeah, and then for Shay to call them children, like, you know what I'm saying? So it's like, yeah. Sorry, nigga, you ain't no children. It's the kids. Yeah, and then for Shay to call them children, like, you know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 01:28:25 Sorry, nigga, you know the children. The kids. Who was saying that, Shay or... Shay, you know the kids. I'm making sure. But just looking at the Thunder squad, 33-6, have the Thunder done enough this season to show you that they are a legit championship contender?
Starting point is 01:28:42 They got to... They still got that boy hurt. Check. Still got to check. No, consistent... Playoff champ, man. I'm saying consistent. That's what we got to talk about.
Starting point is 01:28:51 Consistent playing the regular season, yes. Yeah. It's that playoffs is different, man. It just got to get... I think... But the best experience is what they had last year. Yep. Right?
Starting point is 01:29:03 Being in a tough series, having home court and not getting it done in that situation, it'll do something to you. It'll light a fuel, a fire under you. Sometimes, hopefully it will in this case. But yeah, I think they're going to do better than they did in the playoffs last year. They're going to show something. The dominance that they're showing now,
Starting point is 01:29:22 I think will translate to the playoffs. You think it will? Yeah, because you build it on defense, right? You build dominance on defense. You don't do it by making shots. You build that rapport because that travels. Us making shots, we can come home and we can not throw that bitch in the ocean, but we can hold y'all to fucking 87.
Starting point is 01:29:45 Right? And I think that's what they've been preaching. You got that kind of defense, though? I think it's learning. Throughout the season, like, the way they winning. Check back in there. Like, they winning by 10-plus points a night. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:29:56 So for you to be doing that is, right? Like, I'm thinking about the teams that, like... they went in there and, you know, like, it was your Nets team, it was obviously the Pistons team, um, where... they don't give a fuck about scoring because they know you're not gonna score. Like, y'all ain't gonna score. Like, we can kick this bitch from half court four, five times
Starting point is 01:30:20 and we're not worrying about it because we know you're not gonna score. That's why I'm saying, are they there yet? Are they at the point where if Shea gets stopped to the teens, can they still actually win that game? Yeah. I think they're learning how. They're going to have to show it.
Starting point is 01:30:35 I think they're learning how. I ain't saying this, but I think they... What happened... Losing to Dallas the way they did, I actually leave a bad taste in your mouth. And Bulls teams so I just And coming out like they didn't have that law they came out with the same mindset got better added a piece Hardenstein who wasn't there get checked back Williams kid confidence is outrageous. He's an all-star this year, I believe. You think so? I think he's an all-star.
Starting point is 01:31:07 Yeah, yeah, for sure. So with that kind of confidence, man, and what you have, and Caruso's still out, he's a hell of a defender. Yeah, man, I think they're going to be a force to be reckoned with in this upcoming playoffs, I believe. Yeah, they got probably got two two more years, and then... So, that brings me to my next question, Gil. Bernard, I appreciate it. That was a great laugh. You want them to break up. Great laugh.
Starting point is 01:31:33 So, yesterday on the show, we lightly discussed a few... Damn, you dropped it. Tap glass. Yeah. Tap glass. Ah, damn. Everybody's in there, like, Whoa! I'm gonna fuck it in tap glass. Boop! Oh. Look at his face. Damn
Starting point is 01:31:51 He didn't cost the moffa came down to pump fate Got that shit whoop that shit out here and even if you score I didn't get this Just cut that gamma take five good dribbles. Make sure you don't get your assist. Five good ones. He was trying to segue Gil. He was trying to do his job. Yesterday on the show we lightly discussed the future, the Thunder, the problem they're gonna run into. Trying to keep this squad together with all their young players becoming eligible for big paydays. So after making first team All-NBA last season, SGA eligible to sign a four-year,
Starting point is 01:32:23 294.2 million Super Mac extension this summer, which would make him the first player in league history to make $80 million in a season, which he would do in the final year of that deal if he did sign. Holy shit. SGA previously signed a five-year, $172 million rookie extension back in 2021. That jumped to $207 million after he made first-team All-NBA in 2023. So, last summer, we saw Knicks guard Jalen Brunson take a team-friendly discount to help the Knicks keep most of their core intact and eventually trade for Cat in the aftermath.
Starting point is 01:32:53 Do you see a world where SGA gives the Thunder a team-friendly discount to help keep the Thunder's young core intact? I feel like his teammates are too good for it. He's going to have to take us really big discount I wouldn't I wouldn't just off the market, but we saw what Brunson the way is initially was all he gave up 113 mil But the reality is the way the contract structured in this new TV deal down the road He'll be able to get most of that back. It is is the non comparable
Starting point is 01:33:21 situations Because Brunson's, who they're trying to pay don't match up to the motherfuckers. Okay, so you got to pay. Do you know what I mean? Like, you sit here paying, you know, $20, $15 million a year, $20 million.
Starting point is 01:33:38 Chet, that's going to be a rookie max. Jalen, that's going to be a rookie max. And they both up at the same exact time Hmm, right. So you got him going and then next year that next summer you got two people that's gonna be sitting in life Yes, so Like you know like you had Jalen was was it Jalen Green and Sangoon? Sangoon. Right?
Starting point is 01:34:07 They both up. You got that problem, but you didn't have Shea signing the year before. You didn't have nobody signing damn near $300 million the year before. So you're only, those problems was just them two. So you have SGA, then you have the same problem with two players. And then when they come up, you got some more players coming up.
Starting point is 01:34:30 So it's going to be rough. Shea, you got to take that, though. And that market... You got to take that, too. That market is terrible. That market... It's a small market. It's a small market.
Starting point is 01:34:41 That's what I said. It's a small market, man. This is not New York. This is not Boston. This is not Boston. This is not L.A. You can't afford it. Yeah. Unfortunately. And that's the bad part about it.
Starting point is 01:34:53 Say the Thunder win a chip this season. Would that change the... That makes it worse! I need more bread. The price going up on everybody. That's what I'm saying. Like, people didn't understand what I was saying. It makes it like if we're all balling, The price going up on everybody. That's what I'm saying. Like, people didn't understand what I'm saying.
Starting point is 01:35:07 It makes it like if we're all balling, God damn it, you got to pay us. If we're not... If we're not, it's easier. Easy pickings. Still got to pay, but... Katie and Rush, not as much. Easy pickings, then. Easy pickings.
Starting point is 01:35:18 Easy pickings, then. I can give you this 45. I can give you 70. I can give you 81 It ain't tomorrow. We got a guy's enough everybody go around in Hundreds yeah, yeah, we're gonna be we got one I can afford one and a half of y'all think about Blazers, right? Everybody on that team is affordable Think about it same same age
Starting point is 01:35:44 Everybody's affordable. So even if they turn into something, I got them for cheap early. See, these are the years where Jalen's supposed to be like, averaging like 4, 12, 13. And I see the potential. Get him for like a four-year, 90. Right?
Starting point is 01:35:59 You know what I mean? Get him that janky. Get him a long. Chip coming off injury. You like, yes. These motherfuckers now coming out the gate averaging Danny. Yeah, yeah. Get him mad. Get him mad. Get him a long hair. And then Chip coming over injuries. You like, yeah. These motherfuckers now coming out the gate averaging 20.
Starting point is 01:36:09 Yeah. All stars. Orlando had the same price. I'm going to shit on podcast. I need to be on this. Orlando. All defensive. Wagner, Wagner.
Starting point is 01:36:17 Motherfucker. Wagner, Wagner. Wagner, Wagner. You have a new pair? Goddamn, Paulo. Goddamn. Wamba, wamba, wamba. They can play all three don't know, right?
Starting point is 01:36:25 They can play all three of them. Well, they already paid Wagner and Paolo. And then Suggs got some money. Wait, Paulo got paid already? Yeah. Oh, does he? They already got their bread. This is third year?
Starting point is 01:36:38 I believe, yeah. Yeah, they locked them down. They locked those two down. Who else is, who's the next free one? The other Wagner? I think Suggs. Suggs. How many?
Starting point is 01:36:47 Suggs is pooping, so they're going to have to pay him. As I said, man, to keep teams as an owner, you have to be lucky if you got somebody on there that's stupid or in a bad situation where you can throw out some money and they're gonna take it so obviously if they know one of them spinning real heavy and he need this money right now you know I look we can wait the next year you know 200 or you can take this honey right now I know things going hard you know I heard you know I'm about to lose your house check
Starting point is 01:37:23 check got a hundred million right now coca cash Mom, we were like, okay right now But I'm saying but You're going to floor codes or something something Okay, definitely this we've seen we used to game like yeah Yeah, right, right. But you hear about it in the reg. They don't have any problems in OKC. That's also another thing. OKC, you definitely, listen. We've seen players, we used to sit there and be like, yeah, he broke two years after he playing.
Starting point is 01:37:50 That motherfucker crazy right there. We know, we've seen those players. They don't got them problems no more. All right, well, so basically we're saying this, Thunder, live it up now. Y'all better get it done quick. So they basically got it for like two years. I mean, on paper, that's what's gonna happen, but we don't know what's going on. Unless that owner, listen, Live it up now. Y'all better get it done quick. So they basically got for like two years. Some of y'all not going to be here.
Starting point is 01:38:05 I mean, on paper, that's what's going to happen, but we don't know what's going on. Unless that owner, listen, unless that owner got, hey. He got some under his sleeve. He got them long pockets. He might have to figure it out. He got them under the table. He got them long pockets.
Starting point is 01:38:19 We got some under the table. Take this, and I'm going to give you that. You're going to have to figure it out, because that team is fun. Unless he wouldn't have gone to that. Because what stops him is that. Unless he wouldn't have gone to that luxury. It's that luxury tax. We'll take this and I'm gonna figure it out because that team is fun Because what's not going to that luxury is that luxury taxi if there was no luxury tax You wouldn't have to worry about this. But if you if there was no luxury tax There'd be two teams. That's dominant There'd be two teams as dominant. It'd'd be them damn Clippers, them Lakers.
Starting point is 01:38:45 Mm. I don't even know about that. Kid, maybe Dolan. Genie ain't got it like that. I don't even know that Genie ain't spin like that. Oh, no, no, no. I can take out a loan. It'd be them goddamn Dallas Mavericks. It would've been them Dallas Mavericks and them Clippers. Because they motherfucking sports fans.
Starting point is 01:39:00 Yep. Mm-hmm. Them two sports fans that own teams. Yep. They want to win. They want an a will go a open checkbook Who will be out here? Yeah, how much you know? Who won a hundred million have a whole lot just NBA players just waiting at the door just get the pick you get the picture You know good shit. Yo, yeah, I got my four more people God dammit John Moran want to come in this motherfucker. Fuck the everyday and go.
Starting point is 01:39:28 Now I got to get him 200. Now they got to get him 200. So we asked the chat, are the OKC Thunder legit title contenders? 80% said yes. Shout out chat. We also asked the chat, should SGA take a pay cut to protect OKC's core? 60% said no. He said, give me my chips,
Starting point is 01:39:44 we'll do it. Is there any league that don't have a cap? Does baseball have a cap? MLB, but I don't know. Baseball don't have a cap. We're not really... You can get paid anything. No, like luxury. Do they have a luxury tax?
Starting point is 01:39:55 Yes. Oh, they do? They sell luxury tax in baseball? Baseball? That money goes into a shared revenue, and all the bottom teams just keep the money and don't buy plays. Exactly.
Starting point is 01:40:04 Shout out to the team who does spend the money and don't buy players. Okay, yeah. Shout out to the team who does spend money. The Los Angeles Dodgers. Marlins. I get it. You need some type of structure. The handicap, you know, somebody like a bomber. Like, a handicap hurts the Clippers.
Starting point is 01:40:23 Yeah, a bomber would pay anything for anybody. Because he can't clean up his name with everything being fair. You unlock that cap, watch what happens in Clippers. You sitting there offering him, I got 125, I got 200. What's up? I got 200. 200. He can do whatever the fuck he wants to do. I want to say Ballmer close to have more money than all the other owners combined.
Starting point is 01:40:44 Combined. That's what I'm saying. He can do... Can you imagine if they're like, -"No more rules." -"You broke, motherfucker." -"Go get who you want." -"He would stick his ass." And that's what I'm saying. He can literally... Hold.
Starting point is 01:40:52 I can literally pay... Hold one. ...the Olympic team. I can have the Olympic team. The dream team. All 12. Nothing you can do. Yeah, dream team. I can have the best 12 players in the NBA on my team.
Starting point is 01:41:06 The best 12 players in the league. You paid them. One or two years. That's all they need. I just need two chips. And he in the city. He was dancing in Baltimore. Ballmer net worth reportedly $125 billion.
Starting point is 01:41:15 Jesus Christ. God damn, Steve. Break some bread. My leg. But that's the... Somewhere hiding. But that's what all lockouts is for. Lockouts is for...
Starting point is 01:41:23 Come on, Steve. Come by the Sparks. People don't know NBA lockouts... Please come by the Sparks. NBA lockouts happen because... I know, Black. The owners can't come together. See, when the owners can't come together, they say, let's take it from the players. That's what the lockout is about.
Starting point is 01:41:38 That's why we finna go... Because somebody like Ballmer is not going to want to share his revenue with someone in Charlotte. It's just no. I'm not sharing my revenue. This is my team. This is my business. I'm not going to be sharing my TV deal with... What's your channel?
Starting point is 01:41:53 You ain't got one. Oh, but I'm supposed to share Clipper Vision. I got to share my Clipper Vision with you and you ain't got local TV. I'm good. So it was like, take it from the players and then they'd be like, oh, these guys are overpaid. We should handicap them. And have you noticed every time there's team meeting versus players,
Starting point is 01:42:12 the richest owners is never there? They can't be trouble. We're broke people. They're like, why the fuck am I in this shit? You broke ass owners. You both are walking up to me. You're all beneath me. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 01:42:25 Beneath me. Don't breathe near me. You're broke. You're on a team. You both were working out. You got beneath me. Oh, yeah. You walked beneath me. Don't breathe near me. You broke ass. You on a team in... Him, Kronky, all of them. Allen, this and that. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Allen, speak up for us.
Starting point is 01:42:33 I don't know what the fuck you're saying. Look, you're talking to me. I don't even know why I'm here. What this meeting about? Are you going to the meeting? Hell no. What this meeting about again? There's a lockout?
Starting point is 01:42:41 There's a lockout? Oh, shit, I didn't even know. How long has been? It's been eight months. Huh? You? There's a lockout? It's a lockout. Shit, I didn't even know. How long has been for that? Eight months? Huh? You been in a lockout? That's why the boys ain't been on TV.
Starting point is 01:42:51 Lockout's on. Shit, I didn't know. That's why the boys ain't been on TV. So goddamn rich. So rich, don't even notice. I'm fucking looking for this. I think come on at five. Let's keep this thing moving.
Starting point is 01:43:00 So Nugget put up a dollar. He been on his yacht for a month. Motherfucker knows how to do it. He's been on his yacht for a month. He's been on his yacht for a month. Motherfucker knows how on at five. Let's keep this thing moving. So Nuggets pulled up to Dallas. He's been on his yacht for a month. Motherfucker, no cell service.
Starting point is 01:43:11 No cell service. He's an A star yet? Yeah. So Nuggets pulled up to Dallas Tuesday night to take on the Mavs, who were still without Luka Doncic as he recovers from his left calf strain. The Mavs did get some good news, though, with Kyrie back in the lineup after missing the previous five games with a bulging disc in his back. But the return of Kyrie did little to stop the Nuggets,
Starting point is 01:43:30 with Jamal Murray coming through with his best game of the season, dropping a season-high 45 points, 18 for 26 shooting, including five for nine from three. Jokic had his 16th triple-double of the season, finishing with 10 points, 14 rebounds, 10 assists. Nuggets have won eight of their last 10 games with all eight wins by 10 or more points. Currently fourth in the West with a record of 24 and 15 So we were down on the Nuggets a few weeks ago
Starting point is 01:43:52 They have turned things around the Nuggets championship window still open with this current roster Yeah, put that man in the lineup Here's a bad man. Russ I trust. And Russ I trust. Yeah, Denver Stokes. Yeah, Jamal Murray get healthy. Jamal Murray get healthy, man. Hell yeah, they got a chance. Because if he play like that,
Starting point is 01:44:14 we all know what he capable of doing. No secret that Jamal Murray can score at the best of them when he healthy. Admittedly, he said he needs to get it together. Yeah, so. But yeah, I knew it was gonna be a problem. I looked at the box score, and damn, the first quarter was over,
Starting point is 01:44:29 and Nikola didn't have no shot attempts. And then he was... Jamal Murray had... He was so up. He was like four for five from three. I was like, oh, yeah. Yeah, he could not miss in that first quarter. It reminded me of the Spurs in the 2000s. Right? No matter what their record is,
Starting point is 01:44:45 that's the one team you didn't want to play in the playoffs. Mm. I remember that. I don't give a fuck where they... They 7, 8, you'd be sitting there like, -"Aw." -"Aw, shit." Damn, dawg. We got these ones. Get out this spot. Because you know you have to play perfect against them.
Starting point is 01:44:58 I mean, we know how the Lakers feel about playing the Nuggets in the postseason. We would love to avoid that phase. But you feel like... But, like, if you LA... If you LA and you the number one seed this year in Denver Nuggets in the postseason. We would love to avoid that phase. But you feel like... But, like, if you L.A. If you L.A. and you the number one seed this year in Denver Nuggets with Jokic, it's eight.
Starting point is 01:45:11 Mm, we're gonna drop to two. Are we sitting there like, yeah, we about to win? Niggas are like, ah, damn. Again? We already up again. All this work just to see them again. God, man, they gonna be like upset city.
Starting point is 01:45:25 Trust me, from someone who plays San Antonio playoffs multiple times, that shit sucks. Yeah. Right? That shit just seems grinded out. I ain't gonna even hold you, dog. That shit bad. Listen, dog. I just grind it out.
Starting point is 01:45:36 Everybody want to play that fucking just. Every possession, dog. Hey, every, they gonna funnel your ass right down to Tim and David early. And then, hey, and you're going to worry about Tim. You got motherfucking Leroy down there fucking taking charges and shit. It's like, yo. You're playing.
Starting point is 01:45:52 Trust me. You're playing against five. You're playing perfect bad. It's like perfect bad. Every possession. This is a true story. We playing them. Our first two points of the game was a fast break.
Starting point is 01:46:06 This man called timeout and took all five starters out the game, dog. Scored two nothing. He put them right back in, but to prove a point, I'm pretty sure the scouting reports, no fast break. No fast break points, yeah. First two layup. Time out. Yanked all five. I was like, this is real.
Starting point is 01:46:30 He was cussing them all out, I bet. He didn't say shit. So we got a consensus. Everybody agrees Nugget's championship window is still open. Yeah, sure. Hell yeah. They got him. Listen, they got the best.
Starting point is 01:46:41 They got Jokic. He's still the best player in the NBA. I don't know if you know that. They got experience. They can still make a move, too. When I say they got the best. They got Jokic. They got Jokic. He's still the best player in the NBA. I don't know if you know that. They got experience. They can still make a move, too. When I say they got experience, they like. And they got tradable people. They got some dudes who can be moved.
Starting point is 01:46:53 They can help themselves. James Butler, perhaps. You got one guy who's playing as. The bench is getting. I said, you got one guy playing like he's three people. Yeah. I mean, he's playing the point guard position and a goddamn center position Yeah, two of them. Yeah, so we're gonna talk yoga in a second
Starting point is 01:47:10 But they got two guys that makes up for a lot of deficiencies a lot of other one guy offensively and Other guy defensively and every day make up for a lot of deficiencies out there for a lot of people So we go here yoke yoga in a second But talk about Westbrook. When Westbrook signed with the Nuggets, there were plenty of doubters that he would be a good fit in Denver. One person who believed in Russ was Jokic, urged Denver to sign the former MVP. So Nuggets improved to 14-4 with Russell Westbrook in the starting lineup.
Starting point is 01:47:38 And Russ is averaging 15 points, 8 assists, 7 rebounds in those 18 starts. The Westbrook agreed to a two-year, $6.8 million vent minimum deal with the Nuggets. Ridiculous. But has a player option this summer. Westbrook playing his way into one last big contract. It ain't about that. Big girth isn't what he's making. It ain't about that right now.
Starting point is 01:47:59 But I think for Russ, though, with taking the shitty deal with the Clippers. He just want to hoop, dog. Yeah, he just want to play, but took that deal with the Clippers. We felt like that was disrespectful. Yeah. Similar situation with the Nuggets. But he going to take what, I don't think he going to get in the way if it's in Denver. Because at this point, he won't.
Starting point is 01:48:14 The only thing that he's missing is a championship. Or to compete for one. He's not going to put his personal financial situation in the way of the team success right now. I don't believe yeah, right He probably could have went somewhere else and took more than six million dollars I just but last time is for us though. I mean it does be put in that position does but It's either that Play for a shitty team or not be in the league. Yep.
Starting point is 01:48:51 So you pick which, because you know which, and this is what, Russ is, the way he plays, he has displayed consistently. This is who I am. I'm going to hoop. You throw that ball up, no matter when and where. I'm going to hoop. You throw that ball up, no matter when and where, I'm going to compete. If I'm making $40 million, $3 million, there's no difference in his approach to it.
Starting point is 01:49:18 And it's not going to deviate. It's not going to deviate. So the product is the product. Just like Jimmy Butler, the product is the product at this point. And you know what he... You put him out there, people like it, look, he going to compete and have fun doing it.
Starting point is 01:49:37 Have you noticed the people who don't like him? I don't, because I don't listen to them. Non-basketball players. I don't fucking listen to them. That's the fun... That's the funny part. The people who don't like Russell. Non-basketball players. I don't fucking listen to it. That's the funny part. The people who don't like Russell is non-basketball players. You said everyone thought that was a bad... A lot of people were hating.
Starting point is 01:49:56 Might have been a lot of Lakers fans, too. No, no, just... The media said, this is horrible. Who wanted him? The best player in the world. The best player in the world. The best player in the world because he's playing against them. So he knows, shit, I need that engine with me.
Starting point is 01:50:10 Mm-hmm. See, there's this thing that just because you have a job that says you make decisions doesn't mean you're a great addict. Absolutely. And I'm a basketball player. I know what I'm guarding, looking at, and what's coming down the line.
Starting point is 01:50:27 I know this, so I want it. I think he can help me, and he can help us. He is. And that's the difference. If you let the players on the team build their teams... Facts. It'll look a lot different. It'll look what?
Starting point is 01:50:46 Everybody be trying to go motherfuckers 73 and 9. They got mad at the big three build because they built that. The media got mad because they talked to each other. Let's do this because they talked to each other.
Starting point is 01:51:04 With us together, we can win. You see how it looks? You didn't trade us here and you're making us, you know, come together. We talk to each other. We spent the summer with each other. We know each other's game. That's why it didn't conflict. When they wanted KD, they knew KD's game.
Starting point is 01:51:26 They knew their system. He's on vacation where? Give us the plane. We will all go to the Hamptons and meet with him. Because we add him, our game play, like, you have to talk to these players. They're playing, they're guarding there. They know what's going to fit with them. They know the perfect piece. And that's why people hate LeBron
Starting point is 01:51:49 for manipulating his team. How can we go get somebody that people can't key in on Steph no more? Who's the most deadly, most efficient motherfucker out here? Mm-hmm. Go get him. Where he at? That's all. That's him. Him? Oh, shit, yeah.
Starting point is 01:52:03 Like, so it's that, man. Like, yeah, you... You let... To Gil's point, Him? Oh shit, yeah. Like, so it's that, man. Like, yeah, you, yeah, you let, to Gil's point, if you let us put that shit together, it'll look a lot different. So, did that speak to Yonkers' leadership? Yeah. So, the leader of what happened in LA then, LeBron and Russ. Why did that work out?
Starting point is 01:52:20 There was a lot of, there was a lot of- That wasn't the type of player he needed. There was just a lot of noise. I think about, think about when LeBron was winning games. Look at the surrounding team. Look at the actual players. Right? He...
Starting point is 01:52:34 And that's the thing. He has... Himself has a formula of what helps him win. Just like everybody else. I have a formula of what makes what I need to win if you're not trying to find that formula with him and you're just going out there and picking these players so why bring them there okay cuz it's a name yeah see Russ fear me the guys who's picking is I don't know
Starting point is 01:52:58 that name I guess Russ fits what Bruce Brown and KCP brought to there. He does that himself. Okay. So that's what they've been lacking, a wing, guard, defender, energy guy that's going to go out and make extra possessions. That's what them two guys did. And them other guys have gotten better.
Starting point is 01:53:25 Christian Brown and Watson, and then you still, you did And I'm other guys have gotten better Christian Brown and Watson and then you still say you got pieces who you've groomed over the years To come help. I just seemed like these Europeans they picking the right pieces. Who is the best? Who I mean Luca when got Kyrie went to the final I'm saying that the player like Who is the best being you ever you ever who was the best big you ever played with? The best big I ever played with? Don't even have to be, summer, you played in the summer with him or whatever.
Starting point is 01:53:51 Who complimented your game? Like, you'd be like, god damn, I wanna win my team. It's two of them, I gotta go with, well, I'm gonna go with Andre Drummond for sure. Okay. You played with him though, right? Yeah, in Detroit, and then Kevin Love. Did you play with him?
Starting point is 01:54:04 Mm-hmm. In high school? Yeah. Now what have you got to play with him though, right? Yeah, okay, Troy and then Kevin love. Did you play with him in high school? Yeah Now what have you got to play with him in the NBA? Yeah, I'm leaking out begin later you got doesn't say you got a whole different game, right? It's just there's certain type of players that you know fits your game And y'all have some people don't know how to put the peanut butter in the jelly Too much jelly. Yeah, I mean what I mean? I mean, just real, like, a perfect... Like, some people don't know how to do it, but because they got the title, they just think they do.
Starting point is 01:54:30 They just think, oh, he scores 30, I can do it. Like, Cleveland. They got the perfect peanut butter and jelly. We looking at these motherfuckers. Where the names at? They know how to play well together. Now they gonna get the motherfuckers.
Starting point is 01:54:43 So they had the ingredients That ain't gonna add Kenny Atkinson that he mother forgot that mother opened up. He didn't put that shit He didn't put the bread in the toast The right amount of go to He got to set up right and said he got a napkin that bitch at an angle. You got the napkin folded That's what so It's a good-looking Sammy and that's why if you think about Spurs, that's why they drafted certain type of players, okay? So when people say yo, who was the second night? Who was the second third option? It didn't matter to them Right. They knew D this combination is a great meal People say, yo, who was the second? Who was the second, third option? It didn't matter to them.
Starting point is 01:55:28 They knew this combination is a great meal. Yeah. So you think Denver's like that? Like a Spurs right now? I think they got some pieces. They played very well, and they couldn't afford it, right? And I got to go. Now they're just trying to find a substitute for what they lost. And, you know, it's...
Starting point is 01:55:49 Because they got their big and they got their points. So now they just... Every year we're just going to figure it out. We just got to tweak it. They dangerous. Yep. Because they got him. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:55:59 Right. I don't give a... They get in and they got to play... They get the right matchup in the first round with the Rones. Like, they'll... Just like... Just like Giannis. I don't think they've been smart enough to adapt to how he's been playing every year.
Starting point is 01:56:17 See, when you won a championship, the game he played then doesn't look like the game now. He's done transformed into something different They have to match this difference Like now it's more just like give me the ball in there, but not just like he got the little post He got the mid range. So the players that he needs Might be a little bit different all them. Then it was spot-up shooters because he's all down here. Yeah, right. Mm-hmm He's added more here in the mid post now. He's posting up now He's turning around jumpers now. So he might need slash the cutters and so now you
Starting point is 01:56:52 Yep, because he still got autumn kitchen. I was just watching him, but no more natural. He's still catching that bitch. You come here Let's talk a little better go... Better go to bed early. Let's shift over to Joker. That's never gonna stop. That's why I like Jason Kidd, right? When he came to you guys, and then all of a sudden, you guys go from this to championship.
Starting point is 01:57:16 Because what he needed, I need motherfuckers that's just gonna run and dunk in the goddamn room. I can think for everybody else. So I'm just that simple, right? Same thing with everybody else. Something just that simple. Right? Same thing with Steve Nash. They had Mulberry. Switched the two.
Starting point is 01:57:31 That's it. That's all you did. Switched the two. And he's sitting there like... That's fucked up. Steph was a part of it twice. Yeah. A lot of teams are one or two players. This is just switch the two. Now Steve Nash is like, my pick and roll. They're not switching.
Starting point is 01:57:48 They got, I got a roll guy that's trying to dunk every day. Perfect. You got to go under on me. You got to go over me. You can't switch me. Like it becomes a whole different game. So it's like the perfect matches. That's what it's all.
Starting point is 01:58:01 Well, let's talk Joker a little bit. Jokic made some history in the game as well, becoming the fastest player in NBA history with 15,000 points, 7,500 rebounds, 5,000 assists. So Joker accomplished a feat in 709 games, which is 90 games faster than Larry Bird did it. So after the Suns beat the Nuggets on Christmas, Kevin Durant said Jokic is already a top ten player in NBA history, but what more does Jokic need to do in his career to crack your top 10 all time?
Starting point is 01:58:29 I assume that you guys do not have Joker currently in your top 10s. What more does he need to do in his career to get into that top 10 list? You just keep doing what he's been doing. Just play a little longer. And just be more consistent. If he gets another championship within that time frame, great. Another MVP, great. But... But the numbers, if he just consistently just continues what he's doing...
Starting point is 01:59:05 Finish his career. Finish his career. Shit, that's... I believe he's going to crack the top ten. Yeah. When it's all said and done. Yeah. Is he close to that range now, in your estimation?
Starting point is 01:59:16 Who are the... A couple more rings. He's considered a center, right? Yeah, but it don't matter, though. But, like, so who is ahead of him right now, his position? Where, fives? In the top ten. We don't, you're just saying top ten players.
Starting point is 01:59:29 Yeah, so who's ahead, who would he have to? What list are we going off of? Just top ten players. You guys' personal list there is. Just top ten basketball players. Not one consensus top ten list. But that's what I said, it's like. No position.
Starting point is 01:59:40 No, no, but. So you don't need two centers, three shooting guards. What I'm saying is, what list are we gonna score? Are we gonna go golf a ESPN? No, you're endless. We're going over GSP is your I haven't even got past Still from like of all time But number I see the thing is so let's do it top the top ten basketball players that I've seen Okay. Okay, so you like that. just because of all time. I didn't see yeah, that's fine. That's the best more realistic I didn't see fucking pistol Pete played a motherfucker average 40
Starting point is 02:00:14 Yeah, right without the three play without the three boy. I'm said I didn't see Oscar play right are they if you want to go on that metric didn't ask us in it, but she wants you I if you want to go on that metric, then Oscar's in it, but time to shoot. Because that's the thing, when people are putting their list together, when they add somebody in, who fell out of the ten? And it's hard because what did they do
Starting point is 02:00:38 to be dropped out? Because their career's over so they can't even defend their spot anymore. I think the problem, here's the original problem with the list that has everybody complaining. Mm-hmm. There was a top, started off with top 12, back when it first started, top 10, right?
Starting point is 02:00:54 Eventually grew to top 25, right? Then it grew to top 50. Now it's at top 75. The problem with what has happened is you're not removing everyone to redo it yep you're just adding on to add on which means that we now know you don't have a value system you don't have any structure to this that means i could by the metrics that you're doing, all you're doing is you have 200 voters. All you're doing is just vote for your top 75.
Starting point is 02:01:28 Whatever the fuck they write down, you put it in the basket, you tally up the votes. Yeah, but you say that the 50 are grandfathered in. 50 grandfathered in. And the 25 on top of that. We just keep adding. We're going to have a top 500 list at some point.
Starting point is 02:01:40 There's no policing going on. That means there's no discussion going on. There's no transparency going on. That means there's no discussion going on. There's no transparency going on. So when people are saying, why is he here? There's no checks and balances. So that means the top 75 list is not actually the real top 75 list because we know for sure there's better players that's not in this list with their stats now than at least 25 of them. Yeah. So you're going to have to do it again and get another 25.
Starting point is 02:02:13 So you're going to do it and make it 100 and just say there's 100. It'll keep adding 25. Remember, the person who's 100 ain't better than some of the people that's not even on this list. Yes. ain't better than some of the people that's not even on this list. Right? So for you to really give a real top 75 or a top 100, you have to remove everyone, put everyone's stats in a database. Let the unbiased machine spit out.
Starting point is 02:02:43 You put all their metrics, because all we do is, look, we look at a list... You don't want to put in a dissel master. Yeah, we put the bitch in a dissel master. Y'all don't know that's the thing. They put your shit in with child support. Yeah, because, look, no, no, no. Let's say your favorite player is eight.
Starting point is 02:02:58 A dissel master? Yeah, let's say your favorite player is eight, but you think he should be two. All you're doing is, whoever's in front of him, you're going to go, you're going to look for all his negative stats, right? To say, look, he did this, that, this, this. Then use all your positive stats to put him in front. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:03:15 The machine puts everything. Everything. Negative and positive. Negative and positive. Put it in there. This is what you get a month. Let's see what it spits out. This is what you're going to get a month.
Starting point is 02:03:23 Yeah. This is the metrics that it spits out all of your stats from when you walked into that bitch and you left that bitch. Yeah. Put it in there. And then that gives you the list. It gives you plus minuses and all that shit. Every day.
Starting point is 02:03:39 We don't give a fuck what your opinion is. The motherfucker machine has no opinion. But right now, all they do is just, we all do one of these... Put it in, right? And then, the... Then, how the tally votes up, that's who they say is the best player ever.
Starting point is 02:03:58 So should they, like, release, if that was even possible, to have a perfect machine like that? Every year, it would be, like, a new... Every year. Top 25. All-time top that. Every year, it would be like a new top 25. All-time top 25. Every year, you put it in. And then maybe some years, someone won't be in there. And then maybe one year, they'll be back in there.
Starting point is 02:04:14 That's like the NFL top 100. The NFL top 100, that's how they do it every year. That shit changes. Oh, for real? It changes every year. I'm saying the current players, not previous players. So they don't do the current players, right? The other guys don't matter.
Starting point is 02:04:27 All the little rankings that they do? The history is the history of the game. Yeah, and as they do, the history is the history. I don't give a fuck about how you started or couldn't create. Yeah, like, the history is the history of the game. Appreciate you. Like, let's leave it where it is, right? It's preserved.
Starting point is 02:04:39 Let's leave it where it is, right? We got enough now to do it now, right? And, but... Because don't they do... ESPN to do it now, right? And, but... Because all they do, ESPN does that every year, right? Their little top 100. That list sucks. That list stinks. But the top 100, that's how they do it. It's all individual voting. None of them talk to each other.
Starting point is 02:04:59 They fill it out, put it in. So it's all opinion-based. That list always is so... It's all opinion-based. You know always so. It's all opinion-based. You know what I mean? You're sitting there, all you're doing is just, this is why I like him. Yeah, you go to an NBA list right now,
Starting point is 02:05:12 and Russell Westbrook would not be on the top 100 list. Not 100, he'd be on that. And then when you compare all of his negatives and positives, he might be fucking around top 25. Yes. So back to Joker for a second. You guys said Nordicrack's top 10. He just got to keep doing what he's doing.
Starting point is 02:05:29 29 years old right now. But no, no, no. What we're saying is the top 10 list, because the list that's on ESPN or New York Times is not a real list, we don't know where to put them. Because we don't have no baseline. And obviously, his career's still going, so... So now, because if we go off the top 75 lists,
Starting point is 02:05:56 they got Kobe at 10. Ain't no motherfucking person on the planet. If they got Kobe at 10... Right, they're not taking him out. And we're saying this is the real list, and Kobe's at 10, I don're saying this is the real list, and Kobe's at 10, I don't give a fuck what he does. We're not taking him out of the list.
Starting point is 02:06:14 There ain't no fucking what he does in this NBA to put him in front. I'm just, because that's how it's going to be. So if you had humans voting, and we're stuck with the top 10, and this is the list, and there's a... 10? Ha! Yeah. You automatically 11. You're not going past it. You can win 10 championships. Yes.
Starting point is 02:06:32 Well, I'm talking about your personal list. That's why we're not talking about the square meter right now. That's what I'm saying. Even my personal list. But our... Yeah, if you're going off of my personal list, yeah. So if Jokic consistently keeps playing... He don't got to keep consistently playing well. In my personal list, on what I see,
Starting point is 02:06:47 there's only how many three-time MVPs in my list. Because my list don't have Wilt and Kareem. I never seen them bird. They don't have them. I didn't see them play. So, going off of my list, my list starts when I understood what basketball was. For sure.
Starting point is 02:07:05 That's mid that's 1996 Around that time 97 17 age. I cuz think about it at 17 years old We feel holy shit College at 17 you couldn't like at 17. I couldn't tell me penny Hardaway Wasn't the greatest motherfucker that ever walked the earth. Right? Who, Lou?
Starting point is 02:07:28 No, Penny Hardaway. I said, when I was 17 years old, you couldn't tell me. There was nothing you could tell me. Then when I seen Kobe in a dunk contest, you couldn't tell me. Like, yo, get rid of Eddie Jones. Like, even though he's an all-star. Amen, your man, airball two times. Man, fuck all that, man. The real move. Like, you hear how I sound
Starting point is 02:07:48 with LeBron and them. Think about when I was 17. I had every excuse in the world why Penny was the best. The real move. The real move. What if I got back there shaking? I don't know. It was earthquake last night. Looking in the grand scale, Joker's 29 years old. Obviously not super athletic,
Starting point is 02:08:04 but that thing that can lend himself to being able to extend his career or not because he's not doing a lot of stuff that could adversely impact it. But how much longer do you think that Joker
Starting point is 02:08:13 can play at this level in the league? 29? As long as he wants. As long as he feels like doing it until the horses that come back home.
Starting point is 02:08:21 We just keep running up and down. You really seem like the type to just be like, all right, not cool. This right here, you don't care It really seemed like the type to just be like, all right. Just not show up. This right here? You don't care about none of that shit. This shit right here?
Starting point is 02:08:30 That don't get old. This right there. He proved it in the first quarter last night, man. He didn't shoot the ball. He ain't got to shoot that bitch. And they was up 30 at the half. They was up 30 at the half, and he took fucking. He can average a double- double double until it can be
Starting point is 02:08:47 Ten rebounds tennis this yeah. Yeah, I can't move y'all but look and be back though Back though 15 and he can move when he want to he was running game that night. It was a play took off out the block I'm like, damn, big fella. Oh, he be doing his little one, two, three. That's one motherfucker you ain't gotta worry about anything. He don't get nowhere off the ground. And he in shape because he played
Starting point is 02:09:14 out the two. He's never on the floor. He's never on the ground. And he played out the two, so he in great shape. Yep. So let's talk about something else that we saw at that Nuggets-Mavs game last night. Future NFL lottery picture. Doris Sanders was sitting courtside at the game. Coach Prime was watching on TV, took a liking to the blazer Greg Anthony was wearing during the broadcast.
Starting point is 02:09:32 So during the game, Prime tweeted the following at Greg Anthony. He said, I need that blazer Greg Anthony has on tonight. So shortly thereafter, Coach Prime got his wish. And apparently Jared is now taking your jacket. So, shortly thereafter, Coach Prime got his wish. And apparently Jared is now taking your jacket. I think he'll give it to Shador to give to his dad. He's giving it to Shador. Shador is very perplexed. Your dad tweeted us today.
Starting point is 02:09:55 Jared is now explaining to him. Your dad tweeted that he's going to want that jacket. Jared is saying, take the jacket. Shador said, for real? He said, yes. This is your jacket now. It's your jacket now. Serious? Yes.
Starting point is 02:10:13 Thank you. That happened. Shador looked like, Shador now is looking at him like, seriously? What the fuck is this? Bullshit. Bullshit ass jacket. I thought I was so confused.
Starting point is 02:10:25 But Gray Anthony took the jacket off, gave it to Jaron Greenberg, who passed it along to his pops. But let's talk about something else going on in Dallas right now, Kenya, with your former favorite NFL team. So that's a parting ways with Mike McCarthy after five seasons. About time. Cowboys are searching for their next head coach. I don't know who it's going to be, but geez.
Starting point is 02:10:44 So Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and Deion Sanders spoke Monday, and while a formal interview has not been scheduled, the two are expected to continue their dialogue. So after the call, Coach Prime told ESPN's Adam Schefter, to hear from Jerry Jones is truly delightful and it's intriguing. I love Jerry and believe in Jerry. After you hang up and process it and think about it, it's intriguing. But I love Boulder and everything there is about our team,
Starting point is 02:11:05 the coaches, our student body, and the community. So Sanders spent five seasons with the Cowboys, helped them win Super Bowl XXX, primarily lived in North Texas after his playing career ended before making the move to coaching. In his two seasons at Colorado, changed the culture. Nine of four this year, team's first winning record since 2016. Cowboys have the 12th pick in the NFL draft,
Starting point is 02:11:24 but can move up the drafts your door if Coach Prime did end up taking the gig. But I got to ask you, former Cowboys fan, current Ravens fan, but as a former Cowboys fan, would you want Deion Sanders to be the Cowboys' next head coach? Nah. Got a big impact.
Starting point is 02:11:40 Colorado. Good gig. They ain't got no control. Not with Jerry still there. He ain't got no control. He got all the control. And Prime want the control. And I think that'll be a,
Starting point is 02:11:58 it'll be a loose situation for him. Like, look at Jimmy Johnson, when Jimmy Johnson were in certain things. Barry Switzer, Bill Parcells, other guys who were demanding and wanting certain things, it didn't work. So I think he has a better impact, a better influence in the college arena, especially both of the things that they built. Him going to the Cowboys 12th pick, you paying Dak $60 million next year. You're going to pay Dak $60 to go draft his son to be a back? Like, no, no, no.
Starting point is 02:12:36 It's not feasible. Like, Dak's the highest paid quarterback in the NFL, so you're going to go draft 12th pick his son? Like, nah. Nah. As long as Jerry is there and in control, nah, Dan ain't going to have no control. You don't think he'd give prime? He ain't gave nobody control.
Starting point is 02:12:56 But the name. He ain't gave no. But whose name was bigger than just prime? At the time, Jimmy Johnson at the time, when he hired Jimmy Johnson, coming from college ranks, winning this, that, and third, came in, won the Super Bowl. Same shit. Bill Parcells, known head coach,
Starting point is 02:13:14 it ain't... It don't matter what dude. Gil, he's the... He owns the team. He's the president. He's the Gil. He owns the team. He's the president. He's the GM. He's the fucking head scout. He holds the press conferences after the game.
Starting point is 02:13:33 One job. He's a Jamaican. Yes. Hey, man. Hey, man. God damn it. So you think you finna give some? You might as well coach the motherfuckers too. I know he's sending like, fights.
Starting point is 02:13:49 Listen, there's not too many owners that go to the fucking combine. That's coaches and scouts. With the Dallas Star bus, rolling through the city at all hours of the night. That's for scouts and coaches. Owners don't go to that shit. They have an owner's meeting doing some of that shit. But that's...
Starting point is 02:14:10 Owner's not going... He at the fucking combine. Dude, you... Man, I don't know. Pushing 90? He's old as shit. Jared pushing 90, right? He will be out there meat-gazing.
Starting point is 02:14:23 The game has changed. Shit's changed over right the game is From when you first you got a relinquish again, but you got your son is right there just so you go So you listen to your son? Okay, when your son work for you though you so you so you do so I work for you do everything you tell me to Do so now it's's time to make decisions. Okay, let's think about it like this, though. But we ain't won nothing.
Starting point is 02:14:52 Let's take Jerry Jones out of it. Uh-huh. Right? As what? As which position? No, just... Think about it, which position? Just let's not think about him right now.
Starting point is 02:15:02 Okay. Right? Think about just what would happen with the name Cowboys if Deion Sanders got there. Nothing. Like, you don't think it's going to revive the Cowboys name? No. It's still the biggest. No.
Starting point is 02:15:19 Don't look up. Get that fancy phone you got out right now. Go look up value franchise. Oh, no, no, I know that part. It's number one. I'm just talking about the excitement. Right, they can't go higher. They can't get no higher than number one.
Starting point is 02:15:31 It's value. Jerry don't give a fuck about that. I said not Jerry. I'm talking about the public. You don't think... People don't give a fuck about what... Think about what you did in Colorado. They don't give a...
Starting point is 02:15:39 They don't care. Him in Dallas with the Dallas Star. They don't... It does not matter. Motherfucker, that... It just seems like that would... Do what? They already won? No more publicity can be gained for the Dallas Cowboys.
Starting point is 02:15:53 Can any more hype be gained for the New York Yankees? Can any more hype be gained to the Los Angeles Lakers? If A-Rod became, like, the general manager with... No. Goddamn it. No. What's the name? He be like, -"Ooh." -"It don't...
Starting point is 02:16:06 It ain't doing nothing for them. They already won. I'm saying it ain't doing nothing. Huh? Deion likes control. He's not gonna relinquish his power. But nobody's... Prime like to be in control of his situation.
Starting point is 02:16:20 Yeah, but he's still making a goddamn move. But it ain't even about the money with this situation. All the celebrities Man, you get that there what they gonna be rocking what a goddamn cowboy So what bigger celebrities not get up to Colorado so they come in there Boulder coming to bold they not get to be Dallas in Calif a not Everybody got the fan already handle college team to cheer for People grow they don't got no college team to cheer for. People growing. They don't got no NFL team to cheer for either.
Starting point is 02:16:46 Yeah, they do. They're going to switch over. Snoop likes the Steelers. You think he's coming to support Deion? No. Yeah, for that check. He's not. No.
Starting point is 02:16:56 Huh? For all sports. You ain't got no team. It's a Rams team. I'll be a Rams fan. I'll be a Rams fan. He just found Rams, but he ain't had no fucking team. He wasn't a Rams fan when they was in fucking St. Louis. No, I didn't.
Starting point is 02:17:11 Exactly. You see, I became a Rams fan four months ago. So my thing is, he has a better influence, a better impact where he is now. Working for Jerry Jones ain't easy, dog. You go to the media, talk to the media, guess who talked to the media, too? Jerry. Anything you say, Jerry, gonna undermine anything you...
Starting point is 02:17:31 Well, we think we're gonna go with the back. No, the starting quarterback is the starting quarterback. Do you want that? Okay, do you think he can change the perception? No, nigga! If Jerry let him do his thing... He's not going. He's not!
Starting point is 02:17:43 He will not do that. He's not! He will not do that. He's not. He will not do that. Gil, there is no... Listen, hear me out. I don't know. There is no other sports franchise owner,
Starting point is 02:17:56 president, GM, head scout... I get all that? He write the checks. He the fucking, he the C-O-C-F-O, the C, dude. So you're telling me. He the PR, he the head PR guy.
Starting point is 02:18:15 He got a radio, listen, most head coaches have a radio show. Jerry Jones got a radio show. Dude, this. This is Jerry Jones, man. Hey, Jerry, Jerry, Jerry. Just tell the world that you're going to sign Dion and watch what happens to the Dallas Stock.
Starting point is 02:18:34 People are going to be like, that's a bad decision, Dion. Everybody's going to be like, oh, yeah, they're going to tell Dion, but they're going to be like, oh, shit, we got prime. I'm telling you, there's somebody who's been there, Gil.
Starting point is 02:18:44 I was there when they won it last I was in high school. Yeah, I've been out of high school a long fucking time Hey, I've been out of high school a long time Danny been give fuck the Danny been to NFC championship games. Let's see. That's what I'm saying Man, that's a person he have. And he's been the owner, CEO, CFO, the president, the scout, all this time. See, that's what I'm saying. You got rid of the
Starting point is 02:19:13 one guy that challenged you as a head coach and you ain't won nothing since. But that's what I'm saying. This big franchise and look at your perception on it. Like the Knicks perception, right? The Knicks have a perception. Who is the biggest Knicks player in Knicks history?
Starting point is 02:19:30 Patrick Ewing. What happens if he just signs him? What does the Knicks fan base do automatically? Oh, shit, we got Patrick Ewing. Hell yeah. Just the thought of it. I'm just saying the perception As a heck, I'm just saying is the perception doesn't change around because there's so many negative position ever want Nick Scott
Starting point is 02:19:54 I'll abide Jersey. Do you see you got my fan? Stadium every weekend my bestie. I Got a big sketch of strays, but but my thing is that I'm running there, but my thing is yo That's a cowboy. I'm just looking at I'm just looking at what he wait that happens that I'm just looking at what Dion say run in What Dion brings to the floor he brings positivity to whatever he touches nothing So if there's a negative there and he brings positive it kind of does nothing do Y'all just said a man got to die. Yes. I knew he was going to say it.
Starting point is 02:20:26 Unfortunately. I was waiting for you to say it. I didn't want to say it. But in order for things to change... He has to be... In order for things to change, he's got to go. He ain't selling the shit for one.
Starting point is 02:20:36 People just got to... Does he have kids? So people just got to go. Unnecessary. But my thing is, look, but they... For the business of football, Jerry Jones, absolutely. We're talking about the product.
Starting point is 02:20:53 You got to put other people in play. That's all I'm saying, man. You do what you do, Jerry, over the fuck over here, right? You talk once a month, unless somebody else motherfucking have the rings, but he ain't gonna do it. And it ain't worked.
Starting point is 02:21:12 Right? You want to draft a certain guy, right? You the head coach. You want to draft a certain player. You think this is what you need.
Starting point is 02:21:20 As the head coach, this motherfucker say no. What you gonna do Okay boss exactly Now you got a man you got you got a player on your fucking team who you didn't want to draft And you're gonna get blamed if you got it, whatever it is like if he don't play well, or you're not playing me He's not producing, coach didn't put me in position to do this.
Starting point is 02:21:49 Now you're the bad guy. Like, what is... That's crazy. Right? He's in it for fun at this point. So, we got a big slate of NFL games this weekend, Canyon. We got you on the couch today. Got to get your opinion.
Starting point is 02:22:01 The rest of y'all can chime in as well. So, I'm going to go through the four games. I want you to tell me who's going to win. First start, Texans or Chiefs? Chiefs. Chiefs?
Starting point is 02:22:10 Chiefs. Chiefs. Okay. Just say Chiefs. Yep. Commanders. Commanders at Lions. I'm going Detroit.
Starting point is 02:22:22 I'm going Lions. Lions, okay. I picked the Commanders because I like going Lions. Lions, okay. I picked the Commanders because I like the quarterback. Gildee, are you supportive of Detroit, a Detroit sports franchise? I know. Who the fuck is the Commander?
Starting point is 02:22:31 Washington. Oh, Redskins. No, the Commander. Young boy going to have a red skin in the office. That night. Yeah, he going to have a rough day at the office. They were the Redskins when you were there. The Washington football team.
Starting point is 02:22:42 I got Washington and Redskins. I picked the— That's another team got Washington Redskins. Stop it. It is Gil's Arena. And Staples Center is not Staples Center. Staples Center is Staples Center. So they must have tore that building down and built the Oracle. I mean, what the fuck is it supposed to be? Crypto.
Starting point is 02:22:59 The what? The Oracle. The Oracle. The whole different place. The whole different building. That's a whole different place. It was built as the Staples Center right there to it right it was the Staples Center when they built it so Just cuz you put a new name on a building don't make it the new name of the building myself No, we got a staple you wonder you wanted to be crypto you crushed crushed this down, built what crypto's supposed to look like.
Starting point is 02:23:25 Okay? Yes, girl. All right? LA Raiders is LA Raiders. I don't give a fuck where they at. It's LA Raiders. They the Raiders, though. It's the Raiders.
Starting point is 02:23:33 We don't say that. See, that's just the Raiders. It is still the Fox Hills Mall, ladies and gentlemen. They open Raiders. They move the motherfuckers to the moon. Therefore, like he said, Raiders said, I'm going Detroit. Unless they change the color of the team. Because when I see it,
Starting point is 02:23:51 it's still the same color. What's funny is I got Washington fans that they changed and bought the new uniform. And I'd be like, what team is that? I'd be thinking it's college. And I'd be like, my five, they changed it. I be thinking it's college and I'm like my fight they changed it I'm stuck. Let's move on to our next game. Yeah, I feel like I know which way you're gonna go on this one
Starting point is 02:24:10 Ram Ram that Eagles you got Rams Eagles Go Ram, I can't say it go Rams. You say you're a very fan Still blasts for me, okay Still is still blast or not. So I'm not the Rams. Yeah, I'm not going to pick, but still. Rams. It's still blasphemy. Okay. It's still blasphemy. So not the Rams, basically. Not the Rams. Yeah, I'm not picking the Rams to win.
Starting point is 02:24:31 So the Rams. You're just picking the Rams to lose. You're just picking the Rams to lose. I'm picking the Rams to lose. Okay. Wow. You think the team they're playing will be for that? No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
Starting point is 02:24:42 Eagles. No, no, no, no. I know you have beef with the other team because it's been part of your DNA. Yeah, I don't. Never owned a hat, never had anything. I know, but look, you don't have to throw negativity towards the Rams because you don't want to say,
Starting point is 02:24:58 that's your enemy. But I just going to. Bash them. I am, but I'm just not going to pick them. I know, I know, but bash them. I don't believe y'all going to win. I'd rather you say, not the Rams. I'd, I know, but bash them. I don't believe y'all going to win. I'd rather you say, not the Rams. I'd rather you say the motherfuckers I don't like.
Starting point is 02:25:08 You know what I mean? Keep the energy towards the people you hate. Don't throw us the straight. Yeah, I get that. Last but not least. Yes. And we got your Ravens. Ravens at the Bills.
Starting point is 02:25:19 Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen. Going Baltimore. We already put foot to ass already this season. They going to do it again Can't stop it Buffalo can't stop the room. Mm-hmm. So yeah Buffalo and they can't stop the run It's gonna be
Starting point is 02:25:40 How do they play in that it's cold in Baltimore, too. But how do they play in that? I can't believe that they run and hit each other in their skin. Read option. Read option. No. Give it to 22. I don't even like playing basketball in a cold gym.
Starting point is 02:25:57 Wait, yo, who is it? Is he a Trish Raven? Oh, he's from Florida? Baltimore who? Ravens-Bills. Who, Jackson? No, no, where is Lamar Jackson from? Where he from Florida? Baltimore, who? Ravens, Bills. Who, Jackson? No, no, where is Lamar Jackson from? Huh?
Starting point is 02:26:09 Oh, yeah. Where you at? That's crazy. He's great in cold weather. I had a basketball game there once. Because it ain't built on throwing that thing. Run it. Put this motherfucker in here and, hey.
Starting point is 02:26:22 Run. Get that bitch a 22 or I'ma pull it out. Hey, 22 or 8? Give them an out pick. Ravens. Ravens. Brandon, you say Ravens. Lexi, we're just gonna say Ravens.
Starting point is 02:26:32 As a couch, we're gonna be supportive of Lamar Jackson. Yeah. I got my Lamar. League MVP, Lamar Jackson. No debate here. Yes. But underdogs gonna have a ton of pick'em options for the divisional NFL games. I got my ass whooped on Sunday too, fucking with the underdog and the goddamn pick-ems.
Starting point is 02:26:48 Got my head beat in. Be strategic. I did as well. I tried being strategic and that shit got my damn dome beat in with an aluminum bat. Was it? Was it? Did you pick against the Rams? Tough weekend for some, great for others.
Starting point is 02:27:01 But download the underdog app, use promo code Gill. You get up to $1,000 in bonus cash plus a special pick-em. And all those NFL Divisional round pick-ems are going to be out there doing it. Choose wisely. But let's move on to Mostly Fans. Presented by Underdog. We are back, ladies and gentlemen. We were taping remotely the past few days.
Starting point is 02:27:20 Got everything back. Got the crew back in the arena. Great to do Mostly Fans again to give you all some bread, some of Underdog's money. So, first question is from Underdog user Amphony9320. Rather be the third option or the sixth man? Third option or the sixth man? Sixth man. Well, what kind of sixth man? Sixth man.
Starting point is 02:27:49 Well, what kind of sixth man? I know, because that can be the same person. Like, Ginobili. That's the same person. Like, is it the sixth man because you're just the first one off the bench, or is it the sixth man because it shows shit when you get on the court? Lou Williams. Like, I mean, it's like... I want to be that type of sixth man.
Starting point is 02:28:05 If I am that. Sixth option. Lou Williams, like, I mean, they're not just, like... I wanna be that type of sixth man. If I am that. Sixth woman? Yeah, sixth person. Sixth person. You know he was the sixth man and the third option. Yeah. I think it'd just be ego at that point. Yes.
Starting point is 02:28:17 He can't be... There's no way... That's what I'm saying. You gotta make it make sense. There's a difference. Yeah. Like Gil said, some people fit both. Yeah, some people say some people fit both Yeah, some people for both but if you had to pick in this scenario for the question
Starting point is 02:28:30 Expression so we're going with the role of an actual six-man Lou will Jamal Crawford I'm gonna say like clay Chris Bosch Yeah, those type those third I'm gonna just go I'm gonna say that. Or I'm gonna go third option like Klay, Chris Bosh. Yeah. Like, those type of people. Those third option. I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm-
Starting point is 02:28:50 I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- I'm- Kevin Durant as the number one and Steph as the two. I get that motherfucker sitting there like, -"Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah." -"Right?" Okay, in that situation, yeah, good option. But most options are not. Most third options are not like that. D-Wade... Chris Bosh? Yeah, let me get my name. DeBron, D-Wade, Chris Bosh.
Starting point is 02:29:16 Man, I'm cool a little pain-principal. I don't give a fuck if I'm Derek White. Call my name, goddamn it. Starter. Starter. It is a nice family. It is a nice family. It is a nice feeling. It is. Sometimes as a six-man, you get subbed in off a timeout.
Starting point is 02:29:29 Nobody knows you can. You coming out with the starter. Shit. Wait. When I was watching Phoenix. Ain't no clap for you, no nothing. When I was watching Phoenix, that happened. They're like, it was two possessions.
Starting point is 02:29:38 Oh, look. Bradley Beal's in. I'm like, damn. That's a disrespect. Yeah, I don't need that. Yeah. Well, that concludes our show for today. Great to be back on the couch.
Starting point is 02:29:47 Yeah. Saw you find people. I told Steve that remote shit was... I kind of liked it. No. Some of you struggle more than others figuring out Wi-Fi. No, it wasn't Wi-Fi. That shit was...
Starting point is 02:29:58 I kind of liked just sitting in my house. Because the crew that was there, we had a hard time on the couch talking over one another. Yeah. And that shit, we at home, Nick on the couch talking over one another. Yeah. And that shit, we at home, Nick's shit was half, it was just... Off-center. Yesterday, we were a bit more civilized. Yeah, Todd's shit kept going out, glitching.
Starting point is 02:30:13 Yeah, he got a soundboard. Yeah, and this shit echoing. Oh, that was coming from Rashad? Yeah, yeah. Soundboard. Soundboard. Echoing. Regulators, mount up.
Starting point is 02:30:23 Yeah, it was just too... I texted you, it was a whole clusterf up! Yeah, it was just too... I texted you. It was a whole clusterfuck. Yes, it was. I told him, listen, he said... LeBron James! LeBron James! I was wondering what was going on.
Starting point is 02:30:33 I said, please. Yeah, I thought that... Well, we are back here in the arena. I liked it, Steve. It was a clusterfuck. Shout out to our crew. Because you ain't got to drive. Yep.
Starting point is 02:30:42 I did not leave my house. That was the nice part. I would get my ass in that car. From my room to the other room. I would drive. I would sit in traffic to come over this bitch. Steven, three left turns. My soundboard made sense to when I used it.
Starting point is 02:30:55 Yeah. Y'all were having a soundboard. Which one did you use? Which one did you use? Stay off the weed and cocaine is a hell of a drug. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Do not know if that's true or not, but have heard some politics.
Starting point is 02:31:09 When I start doing this, looking for something, he just rambling. Okay, here we go. I got you. But good to be back in the arena.
