Y'all happy about that?
We don't care about, that's y'all, that's their problem, turning the ball over.
Y'all had 25 more possessions than them, and y'all won by a few points.
No, we had 11.
No, they had 20 turnovers.
Oh, 20, right here.
So that was...
20 turnovers, we had nine.
That was 20 more possessions than, okay, y'all had 11 turnovers, but still.
And still, they had more possessions than them dudes, man.
They got to keep the fucking ball.
You know, that ain't no problem.
I mean, we're going to play the game, right?
Yeah, he a Lakers fan again.
Got him.
Got him.
Win is a win, right?
Oh, yeah, no, you got it.

Rhetorical question.

Of course not.
Adam Silver wants NBA coverage to be like the NFL.

We're going to have food trucks, security.
We got some enemies in these streets.
Yeah, it sounds like y'all got some enemies, man.
You know.
God dang.
Ever since we didn't set our ass on this couch.
I'm a peaceful man. I mind my business. You know, I'm a peaceful man.
I mind my business.
You know, sometimes people think they can talk to me a certain type of way.
I see.
And it's just, that's just what's going to happen.
But let's get into this.
No, I just, I was like, hey, you had this motherfucker email me?
He's like, no.
Damn.
Damn, Joe.
Nah, man.
Hit me direct.
My mornings are my mornings.
Wait till the afternoon.
I'm in a much better state of mind.
Hey, the chat must have been riding your ass, boy.
You were a different shoehead then.
They must have been on your bum.
This is the thing.
I was projecting a certain lifestyle on this show with the Chucks.
Gil let the cat out the bag on a YouTube live that he did
and told people I'm not actually broke.
But it worked too far.
Adidas sent me a bunch of stuff.
Went for Nike to send me some stuff.
A shout out to my guys at Adidas Basketball.
They gave me the Gil plug.
I'll get them back in the mix.
But man, he lied so much.
That's a good one.
I didn't like when you were like,
yo, I'm in the nice community.
He's right outside.
No, the whole community's not the nice community. He's a he right outside No, the whole community is not the city's outside
I'm friends with security guards now. Let me is you know, double VIP
Good at the gate. I see a new dude. I'm like, yeah, they got new dude at the gate today
I'm like now I gotta wait three minutes for him to go through the lady. Yeah, when they pull that out
That's a sign of disrespect. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, when they pull that out, that's a sign of disrespect to me.
Yeah, yeah.
Now he knew.
He don't know us.
He knew.
Because he got the dude that's behind him evaluating him.
So he just can't be.
But the dude behind him.
He don't even look my way today.
He just look forward like, shit, he got to do his job.
See, he got to know.
Yeah, he got to.
He got to learn.
You don't see me every day except Friday, Saturday, Sunday.
Let's get into this.
Taco Fall hasn't played in the league since 2022,
but he's still making his present felt out there in China.
So this was making his way around the internet.
Godzilla!
Oh, my God.
So during a recent game with the Nanjing Monkey Kings,
you can't have a team called the Monkey
Kings.
You can't be Taco Fall playing for the Monkey Kings.
Facts, man.
I'm just saying.
Okay, y'all gotta just be the Kings.
The fact he had to push off.
Nah, he didn't push off.
He caught a defender slipping, damn it.
They called it.
They called offensive?
Yeah.
Go look at it.
Yeah, they called offensive.
Can we see the play again?
They got him.
I thought it was in one. Nah that one. Watch the ref. Look.
Nope.
Wow.
That changed everything.
That changed everything.
Yeah, but that's China for you though.
They're going to do that.
Oh yeah, they're going to do this.
Yeah, I'm going to say that's China for you.
They're going to do that.
They ain't going to let you get away with nothing.
That's why I say he pushed off.
Damn, Taco.
I mean to be honest.
God damn, Taco.
Him being tall and all that.
He's small.
He's got a big body.
He's got a big body.
He's got a big body.
He's got a big body. He's got a big body. He's got a big body. He's got a I mean to be honest. Damn, Taco. Him being tall and
all that. Small kind of looks like Godzilla, right? Godzilla, Godzilla. He should be out
there terrorizing the people. Yeah. Yo, I got them three months I spent over there,
dude, I got a rebound and, you know, I just chinned the I spent over there, dude, I got a rebound.
And, you know, I just chinned the ball, right?
I didn't swing them.
I just grabbed the ball.
They stopped the game.
Said, no, no, you can't do that.
I was like, fuck.
No black man.
We're going to talk about y'all China experiences in a second because all three
of y'all hooped out there.
But what was your favorite dunk at any point in hoops career don't got to be in the league
Like what's the first time y'all dunked on somebody?
or most memorable dunk
Well, I'm my first one
Which was like that was a tip dunk on the middle school rims, you know the Lord
dunk ball
came up the tip
was it yourself I mean I think just I think I lost my hops when I was when I
got to the league so anytime like any chance I got to dunk in the league was probably my highlight.
Like, ah!
So your boosies didn't transfer?
It didn't.
After Europe, I was working all year.
After Europe and then playing for the Sky Scouts,
we had to play defense.
I was done.
So any highlights of me dunking, I was hot.
They worked your hops out of you, dog.
I was done.
I was just like, you know. So any time you see me dunk in the league. That was my highlight
Hey, what's the first time you caught somebody slipping? I
Don't have to say
Dominguez
You can catch nobody's in NBA. No, nobody catch. No, nobody in NBA. It was just like breakaways like or a lot
Why you know to hand? Yeah Good you don't go to the league. Oh, I like breakaways, like, or a lob, like, you know, two-hand.
Who'd you dunk on in the league?
Oh, I got a lot of people.
What?
The sneaky right-handed one-handed. The sneaky right-handed.
The sneaky right-handed.
The sneaky right-handed one-handed.
Coming down the lane.
And nobody's going to think you're going to dunk this bitch.
Yeah, I'm going to say, you got a couple.
Because, yeah, so back then, you know, like, I used to do, okay, it didn't start as one-four flat.
It started as the pin down.
So the bigs is pinning down.
So, you know, big men, they're not looking at the ball.
They're going to pin down.
And then out fake go right up their back, and he's turning around.
Ah, got you.
That's how my career started right there.
So, Kermit, what was your favorite dunk't get any point your hoops career?
Is named fair for me to go one of mine cuz I I've been yeah I put a lot of people in the room you ever break around
In high school, I've been through I've been to like in high school. It was like bad Jim
We was playing and I dumped from the side in the rim
Yeah, so, uh...
See, this thing, like, people don't...
Like, I'm... Of course, I'm older,
and grew up playing biddy basketball in Texas.
And when you a certain age, they lowered the goals,
like y'all was just saying.
So when I was 10, when I started playing,
they lowered the rims, because of my age.
So I've been dunking since
Put somebody in the light in the rim rim like my freshman year in high school
I'm six for like I you know destroy dude on varsity. Mm-hmm
I pick up ball before the season, destroyed him.
It was on from that point on.
I've been dunking for
a long time.
I dunked on Kevin Love in high school.
That's back when he was
thick K Love.
I dunked on Kevin Love.
Not my own.
Pick a Sean Kemp joint.
Yeah.
Blister, blister.
He jumped and reversed his joint.
I saw a highlight joint the other day.
He jumped from his left side and dunked, reversed it, like running past.
I was like, yo, this man was amazing.
His post-dunk celebrations were always a bit,
maybe it would be like a little shoulder shrug or whatever.
He was going to give you something every time.
His was hostile though.
His was, yours was hostile.
That's why I was a fan of yours.
Off the backboard to Jake Hinton.
Yeah, but mine on Jermaine O'Neal was,
J.O. my man.
Yeah, I,
you come from the weak side,
you better be prepared.
He,
it was front and they threw that thing over the top
and he coming from the weak side.
No, people, see this is this is things like people jump straight up and they don't think people gonna move the ball like jail jump straight
Up in front of the rim. Yeah, I'm boo the ball
Yeah, you imagine cocking it jump in I'm mood at this
Everybody God day
Yeah, I was I just take it out on the ring.
So people stopped jumping after a while.
I was watching video high school dunk contests, Jaime, High-Kaz, KJ, I think Drake London.
But you don't even need to, I don't even need to see who it is to see the dunk and know it's a Martin.
Like your young son too.
I just see him attack the rim,
like the way y'all just spring up.
Yeah, KJ dunked that thing.
You knew it in high school, yo.
People don't understand, man.
Like, of course, the rankings,
people didn't have him rank high and all that shit,
but you saw him playing like y'all.
Yo, man.
Yeah.
Yeah.
On people.
It was at the school.
Too many people over there.
Him and, I don't care if old people say it,
him and that goddamn boy, Cassiusius Stanley on the same floor together?
Yeah.
Was trouble.
Mm-hmm.
Like, that shit was violent.
So when is the last time that all y'all dunked?
You got any more dunks than you, Gil?
My pop's still dunking.
He's going to be 68 this year.
We're trying to get one more out of him.
When's the last time you dunked, Gil?
I just dunked on Sunday.
Okay.
I was at the park with the kids.
Like, like, like 10 foot? On a regulation 10 foot? Back in the day.
Oh boy, I tell you. Back when I was, I tell you, I was dunking. Like, probably when I was my first year trying in the big three. Okay.
I'm going to dunk at the shootout.
We can do it.
I'm going to dunk at the shootout.
We can do a dunk contest.
Like, I can probably just dunk.
I can probably dunk off two.
Of us?
A dunk contest of us?
Y'all three.
I can probably dunk off two.
I'll win that with us.
The dunk contest?
With us.
Right now, with us?
Right now?
I'm still doing it.
Yeah. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. I'm doing that. Hell, no. I'm doing that with us. The dunk contest? With us. Right now with us? Right now? I'm still doing it.
Yeah.
Oh, hell no.
Oh, yeah.
I'm doing that.
Hell no.
I'm going to win just off that.
With the baby windmill?
Yeah.
Hey, I'm over here like, ah, ah.
Then they got to come down, ugh.
Oh, shit.
Shit.
Yo, what's the worst dunk I've ever seen in a NBA?
I need the mat.
Hey, my friend, when I jump, push the up on him It's like a land on the mat
Shagging on somebody
Shack Shackers Dudley most disrespectful the most disrespectful dunk. I've ever seen the NBA is so my Swift
When he was uh, I think it was with New Jersey and he came down to dunked on Tyrus Thompson
Tyra Thomas, I think that's the most disrespectful junk I've ever seen in NBA strobe
America that bitch in a post and windmill that motherfucking me. Oh
Jason Jason Richardson
Was playing as a magic I got the steel and then bounced the bitch off the floor
Oh from like have right? Yeah, I was right bouncing offouncing off the floor and then J.C. Richard Carter with two
and then Kemp
tried to push him out of there. I saw that.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And then that's when, you know, the dudes
on the sideline back in the day, Oakland
on the sideline, he was like,
yeah, I used to be the rain man.
Now he's just a big pot of water.
Like, damn.
No, I remember are. Damn.
No, that was bad.
No, I remember that.
That was bad.
Give that man his phone back.
Blake Griffin.
That Blake Griffin area, he had some disrespect for him.
Yeah, Blake had...
Yeah, yeah.
Him, Amari.
Yo, I was in college.
Oh, Amari.
A nigga from Melvin Levitt.
Oh.
We was playing Alcorn State, bro.
The ball bounced. Somebody shot a three from
one side. Mel came down. Mel had little hands, whatever. Man, he put his hand on somebody's
shoulder. He didn't need it, but just so he didn't hurt himself. Man, the ball was over
the rim here. Nigga grabbed it. Listen, man. I was like... This dude, he was so high, and
I'm just looking like...
No, some disrespectful ones. So we talked about Taco Fall playing in China.
All three of you gentlemen on this couch have spent some time playing in China.
So what's it like playing over there, and how does it compare to being in the league?
I was in Shanghai, so...
I was fortunate to be around a bunch of English in different cultures so that
The culture itself wasn't it was different for me
The most difficult was trying to get them to understand like
You don't shoot. I shoot everything. I didn't know how to translate you know
no you know because you know like we don't know the language we speak louder
like that like that changes like no you know just give it get just like I'm gonna
just give it give this give me ball. Like, you know, trying to convince them, just give me the ball.
So you didn't feel the need to learn, like, those two things in Mandarin?
That was the problem.
I should have learned how to say it.
Those two things in Mandarin.
There's a sentence in Mandarin.
I know.
Just don't shoot.
I know.
I was just trying to use louder English.
Louder English and pointing.
How did your time over there compare to being in the league?
I mean, they definitely took care.
I spent like three months there.
The hotel was great.
The driver, of course.
Teammates was cool.
I think it's just, the know, difficult thing was trying to win
basketball games because you only could play with like one other American. So me and Skola
was on the same team. And Skola was about 38. So there's only times where like only
two Americans could play at one time. And then in the fourth quarter, you got to figure
it out by yourself. So I didn't have a problem with telling them not to shoot. They just wouldn't shoot when
I was there. So it was like, you know, trying to figure out how to win, you know, and then,
you know, the cheating, the refs and the betting and all that. So it gets a little wild, but the
money's good though. If you got that right on her, like you can, you know, they'll come in
like, like that came in one game. They was like like whoever gets the most rebounds these next two games, $30,000.
Wow.
Straight cash?
Yeah, $30,000 cash.
And then you go out there and get the rebounds.
You go out there and get the bucks.
You know, boom, boom, boom.
Or points or whatever.
But they're betting.
It's the same thing.
So it's extra stuff in the back.
You can get that money.
Can you remember 2011 during the lockout?
Yeah.
I read somewhere you had the highest contract in league history get that money. Okay, you went out there with 2011 during the lockout? Yeah. I read somewhere you had like the highest contract
in league history at that point. Yeah.
We're going to get your flowers on this show.
Nah, I was on there for three months though. I didn't
but I got 85% of my
money in them three months.
That's...
Oh yeah, I wouldn't...
You heard the horror stories about them
not paying and just Europe team.
I wouldn't put my practice shoes on to the money here. Oh
No, it's really are you practice? No, I'm just saying I got an idea. I decided
Okay
No, we know we didn't have to I know what he's saying though I had American coach, okay Oh
So no, I went out there with the guy I didn't practice every day, but I went out there but who's your coach?
Bob done
Get his name no matter right now, but I was making out
It's my shit. So the house I stayed in so I didn't stay in the hotel
Everybody else stayed in the dorm. That was right by the gym. The house I stayed in, so I didn't stay in the hotel. Everybody else stayed in the dorm that was right by the gym.
The house I stayed in was the owner's old house.
Okay.
So they had turned it into like a conference meeting.
Like on the bottom floor, they had like conference meeting rooms, stuff like that.
Then second floor and on the third floor is where they, like my room.
And I had a whole side of like a mansion to myself.
Private bathroom. They did my laundry day I couldn't put a pair of socks in the hamper I go use the bathroom come out they
didn't wash the pair of socks no it was crazy so they I asked I didn't ask them to do it I
inquired because there wasn't a shower in my room I had to go outside to go to you, but I had my own bathroom
I just act like is that we went on like a toot like a three-game road trip
I came back there put a shower in the joint up
No boo knowing dad built a shower in this motherfucker
Yeah, they Bob Dunwald and give you what you want shout out to our producing staff always on it
He was a small. I mean shit. mean, they gave Stephan Marbury a statue.
Yeah.
I mean, what you want?
Three months, bro.
Mine, I had where I say it was a condo.
Like, I had the condo, three-bedroom condo.
Like, right outside, from here to there, mall.
Right?
Yeah.
Behind that mall was another mall.
On the side of that was mall.
So, it was three malls.
So, it was an international mall regular Chinese mall than regular
Just like we're talking about so it's like so every day just go to the mall
So you had a nice and yeah, I stay or the city I stayed in was the fur
Sorrel was that it's the most inland city in the world
It's the city from the furthest body of water in the world
Like this like it's always about Russia this city
I was in was about Russian. Oh, I was in China. Like yeah, my flight my flight to base to you
Well, you was was like three hours. Oh, yeah. Nah, I didn't have Chinese food. Oh, yeah. Oh, I had a chef
Oh, yeah, I didn't have no Chinese. Oh, no
Jeff
So for International have the table. No, I'm. I had all three. I had the international mall.
They didn't have the table? No, what I'm saying is
there's the international mall.
Borrow what they have in there. So I got Brazil.
So they got the Brazilian culture, the
Mexican culture, black.
That's what I'm saying. So across the...
They had no black nothing.
They had the barbecue spot.
There was a barbecue spot.
I mean, Shanghai. So they had the.... There's a barbecue spot. There's a barbecue spot. I mean, I'm saying hi
So they have the barbecue spot pizza America the Americans I was there. Yeah, but it wasn't no bad
It was barbed soul food. Yeah, old food was about Mexican food
Nick did I believe there was a place called it was a place called, you know, I found it to American kids. It was called
I Forgot what they called it, but it was In-N-Out.
What they did was they took In-N-Out, brung it out there, and they just called it something else.
But it was in a whole thing.
It was inspired by In-N-Out.
All In-N-Out stuff.
So it was just all American for us.
So I didn't have no rice with duck feet shit.
Oh, no.
You didn't get the experience.
No, no, no.
You didn't get the experience. You got to get the experience yeah you gotta get the experience
you gotta be out there with the i had a translator i had a translator for the translator just regular
translator no he spoke mandarin like he was american he spoke mandarin spoke mandarin i had
a chauffeur and a chef i had had all three, and I didn't...
Everywhere I went, the translator went.
They paid my assistant at the time, who was working for me.
The team paid him.
Like, I didn't have to come out of my pocket to pay him salary for the year he was gone.
They paid him.
He was over there with me for the three months, so I didn't go by myself.
He stayed in the room that was...
So, yeah, I had it made.
The kids came over to visit. They... yeah, I had it made the kids came over to visit day-day
Yeah, I know T-mac T-mac didn't even drive on the bus yeah, yeah, he had a he had a NBA player he had three phantoms
Three phantoms it was it was like a con for only three
I'll be like so he lived on a compound so it was like, it was like wherever he stayed it was a compound that they had
him on.
And the compound came with like three Rolls Royce.
They had the security in the front and him and then, and then so the team on the bus,
he's behind it.
Yeah, I did that a few times.
Like this single day, like he was, I was like, man, I'm on the fucking busses.
Man, you gotta go to China with Yao. I was on Yao's team. Oh yeah, you was- He was, I was there. Yo, don gonna go to bloodsuckers man. You got to go to China with y'all. I was on y'all say oh, yeah
You know he was oh, yeah, yo, don't they move y'all like the president? Yes
Like I feel like like it'd be how many because he was like 30 30 people
Like just like everybody. I was like y'all's like the
Cost went to Beijing Shanghai the team stayed over here. I stayed at the Ritz
I'm you I'm live by certain stand out when I say seriously I found the best everywhere we went the city that three months I was in the best city
I'm the city I'm finding the best hotel the team staying over there
Can you stand over here? I see y'all at the game. Oh, yeah, Bob understood. I told listen, but I'm listen
I'll come from cold. I'm bougie shit. man, I come from, I'm bougie as shit.
They come to my lodge and I'm bougie as it comes.
So we're going to find a five-star, a four-star, then we work our way down.
Oh, yeah, yeah. We're going to start at the two.
So we talked Chinese hoop.
Let's get back into some American hoops.
Tuesday was the second night of the quarterfinals of the in-season tournament.
Top seeded Bucks took on the Knicks in the east.
Top seeded Lakers took on the Suns in the East. Top seeded Lakers took on the Suns in the West.
Let's start with the actual good game.
Suns pulled up to Staples.
Got hit with the Lemon Daddy.
Let's see it.
So, Lakers up one.
Mix me.
Lemon Daddy for three.
Put him up forward 15 seconds ago.
Your confidence is a monster. and daddy for three. Put him up forward 15 seconds to go.
After the game, AD said he was going
past LeBron, but LeBron told him to pass to
Austin Reeves instead. Always
making the right basketball play, but there was
a little bit of controversy in the game for some.
With 11.2
seconds remaining,
Lakers up two, LeBron inbounded
Austin Reeves. Where's the timeout?
Deep book.
Hey, the double team.
Reeves appeared to strip the ball.
But LeBron made the right basketball play, as he always does.
That's why he's the GOAT.
Called a timeout.
That's why he's the GOAT.
Let's take another look.
Right here.
I'm going to show you where he did it.
Right here.
He's in trouble.
So, no foul right there.
Soon as feet turn.
Timeout.
Still possession.
You can't.
You don't have the ball.
Timeout.
Still possession. You can't talk mid
mixing okay D why the thing is all's it pause it we're not right now
friend my brain you go back into the left we don't know we can't see it he He ain't got the ball now. He got it. He gripped on his leg. LeBron already called timeout. He doesn't have the ball.
We don't know.
We can't see it.
He doesn't.
We don't see it.
We don't know.
So therefore, right?
LeBron calling timeout.
Therefore, they should be able to have the review this, though.
They can't see it.
But they should be able to have the review this.
Where at, though?
This is right here.
During the game.
No, what I'm saying is they did review it.
No, they did not.
Not right here.
They can't.
No, no, no.
Timeout.
No, no, no. No. What happened to respecting NBA officials? No, what I'm saying is. That sucks. No, what I'm saying is they did review it. No, they did not. Right here. They can't. Time out. No, no, no.
What happened to respecting NBA officials?
No, what I'm saying is...
Good.
No, no.
The ref he's calling a timeout for ain't looking at here.
He's just listening to LeBron call a timeout,
so he's going to make the call.
So that's where they should be able to review it
because there's controversy.
He's not sure if he got the ball or not.
So they should be able to review it.
We got some other angles of this.
It don't matter.
Let's see the other angles.
It don't matter.
It don't matter, man.
Because I for one, okay, we got multiple angles.
Multi, look at that.
Multi came in.
See, the multi don't matter because it's when the ref.
Oh, see, right on his leg.
No, but what I'm saying.
We've been mixing we don't what I'm saying. It's all when
LeBron gives the signal to the ref that's not looking
So therefore, how does he know that he's doing it?
He's not looking last time he looked we had the ball that Grayson Allen out of bounds anyway
Yeah, so just delayed the inevitable. It don't matter baby
Shit happens. So let's talk about the obvious in the game. It don't matter, baby. Shit happens.
Let's talk about the obvious in the game.
The obvious in the game.
Let's chat real quick.
I got to read this copy.
I can't let it go to waste.
So Suns couldn't challenge the call.
Appeared to be an accurate timeout to the naked eye.
After the game, crew chief confirmed what knowledgeable basketball fans already know.
This is what Josh Tivins said.
During live play, the official felt that L.A. still had possession of the ball when LeBron James requested a timeout.
Through post-game video review and slow-motion replay, we did see Austin Reeves had his left hand on the ball while it's pinned against his left leg, which does constitute control.
But naturally, sons disagree with the call
and Devin Booker
let it be known after the game.
The whole world's seen it.
I just got off social media and other
players around the league have seen it.
It is what it is.
Rebs miss calls sometimes,
but when they're a bit that obvious,
it's tough.
The call even had Nurk agreeing with one of the biggest
sqweenies in sports media.
Sqweenie.
Sqweenie Bear.
So after Skip Bayless tweeted, son just got screwed,
Nurk quote tweeted to wit, never thought this motherfucker
would be right, LOL.
5,000 bees.
We're just wrong too, because he was wrong.
He's always wrong. When he thinks he's right, he's wrong.
We'll start with you.
Now that you feel differently than, you know...
I think they should be able to review it, that's all.
Yeah, for sure.
Because there's something at stake here.
It's not just a regular season game.
$500,000.
Yeah, they're playing for something.
They're playing for the reason to go to Vegas and $500,000, end-season trophy, all that shit. Like, they're playing for something. They're playing for the reason to go to Vegas and $500,000,
end-season trophy, all that shit.
They're playing for something.
I just feel the need to review it.
And if you come back and stand on it and say, cool,
because you reviewed it after the game and you came back with that statement,
so why not go to the table then and review it
and you come back with the same thing?
He had possession.
Or if not, let it play out.
They still got the ball back.
You know what the problem is going to actually be with the same thing here at possession or if not let it play out It's they got the ball back. You know, you know what?
The problem is gonna actually be with the play is gonna be this
When they're trying to zoom in on Austin Reeves as he has a ball
They're gonna have to still try to figure out
if LeBron is calling a timeout at the same time and that's gonna be the issue because you can't zoom in on both guys
Right because it's not like LeBron is calling a timeout to this ref.
He's calling it to the furthest ref.
Because, you know, we've done that before where something happened.
Hey, ref, timeout.
He can only go with me, you know what I mean?
Absolutely.
Because he's not looking there.
He's looking at me, timeout, timeout.
Yeah, I'm with you.
We don't even have the ball no more.
No, I got you.
You know what I mean?
Because that has happened before with all of us. So when they try to zoom in here to see,
does he have the ball when LeBron is calling a timeout here,
it was going to be...
It would have probably been jump ball.
At worst.
At worst, it would have been, all right, jump it.
We can't make a decision on this.
What about the Devin Booker, the heel kick,
and Grayson Allen grabbing out of bounds?
I think clear definitive possession for the Lakers
Either way you want to skew it
Yeah, either way the biggest thing in that game right getting that 500 the biggest thing in that game too is
Then Katie shoot a two-pointer nine to three
At the end there down three and I think shot night shut the air ball then but at the end of the game
Yeah, then the game got an air ball three. then again that airball three does the two or three that was a three
Oh, I was a deep three, but there were downs
Three down three down three. Did they have a timeout? No, no
No, no, they were to call it a bit trust not rush down and shoot a 35 footer
When that is thing there was like a few minutes left when they had a 21 second shot clock. They were close
Yeah, that was good defense. You know what they did have 20 turnovers. That was good
They had 10 turnovers in the first quarter. Yeah
I'm saying like do you turn the ball over 10 times in the first quarter? That's alarming at the end of the day
You know you may
Turn the ball over that much office. You know office rebound you you made enough plays to win the game. You just
I'm with welcome to the lake show
And it's not like we cheated y'all. No just rest. Yeah, but you know, let's talk about this
You know, you can't say we cheated we did it. Talk about your man though. Once again
Dub in the first half
Hey look 80 dead enough to get the week
Dilo a Dilo don't go back. Don't go backwards. He did enough to win this game.
Well, tell your man to dunk the ball then.
This man around the rim trying to lay that bitch up
and that shit just rolling out of here.
Dunk the ball.
Milwaukee Lakers.
Milwaukee Lakers.
Ron James gets to win his first
in-season tournament championship.
It's better than Jordan.
Nope.
Better than Jordan. Nope
He's the first one to get the in season tournament and in season tournament MVP Jordan don't got that shit
MJ never reached the end season tournament Final Four in his entire career. Yeah, we can use that narrative
Just make up shit that Walkie bucks is about to win this so they know that so Dame can listen. It's a
steps
Already up and then you know listen we can't get the listen LeBron fans can't get over the narrative of the little Jordan shit
Right six finals no time we get this word this word starts LeBron James
First season tournament tournament MVP
We got some extra shit Jordan can't get at this point cut off. It's a question for you guys
Y'all both pounded the ball and pick and roll situation, right?
Why would Katie keep calling for a pick and roll late in the game when he knew what how they was playing?
Yeah, I don't understand that. Bring in the double script. Yeah, every time.
Because then you, I guess at some point you would think that,
all right, I'm going to do the pick and roll,
and then they might switch it,
and then I get the guy that I want on me.
But then...
But it never happened.
It never happened.
Yeah.
And it's just, sometimes it's just comfort zone. just comfort zone stubborn or you think it's the comfort zone
You just it's what you you know, it ain't like like there'll be some times where I know I don't want to pick and roll
But I I tap my leg anyway, just a habit right just a habit come down pick and roll and I can
Verse, you know, it's the momentum of I just needed a little bit more space where I can go not realizing
Oh shit, they're doubling to me
It's just happened like you be same thing. Why I said, you know, I mean, that's yeah, I just I'm watching it
I'm like and it's just Katie. No, it's a tick. It's just a tick that's that's happening where
Sometimes you can't it's just like it's like cuz you know for the most part whatever he does a pick and roll
It's a switch. It's never a double cuz I got this guy on me this guy so no one's doubling just that game
But it's already part of the I come and then by the time you're doing it. Oh shit fuck
Now I love me. I got it. I think they should maybe sometimes I did a pick and roll. Oh my god
Why am I doing the pick roll just Miami cuz he's going to hard show passing to get it back.
Pick.
Like, God damn it.
Yeah.
Coming in.
I wanted to ask you.
I was just like, dude, you know how they're playing you right now.
They've been showing you all game.
They got this aggressive motherfucker Vanderbilt on you.
And then they just adding, like, you bringing, they're not letting you play freely right now in the pick and roll.
So you.
Him and D-Book.
Yeah, they were doing it. They were playing both of y'all the same. So it's just, if you're going to run the pick and roll. So you Mandy book. Yeah, they were doing it playing both the other same So it's just if you go run the pick and roll y'all running a bitch together. Yeah, but that's
All right, I'm that's what I said it. I'm sitting up going crazy watching this shit like yo
That's what you like. Yeah, I know you a challenger IQ, but because I've done it before
It's it's it's that it's that tick that you have that is
That's making you look stupid. You know what I mean?
They ain't got it's just the tick you have like Draymond when he gets the ball at the end of the game instead of looking
For like give it to the best player. He gets it and just goes and then once he goes cuz that's his habit
Then it's like oh and uh, and then throws it
It's just part of the ticket right when you get caught in your ticket. You just look back. They you looking for time
Yeah, you just like yeah, you just freeze cuz it's like oh step is right here
Just give it to like the guy you're looking for was already right here
You just took off and ran because you just it's just that everybody everybody has everybody
Everybody has to take it just ran because he just... It's just that everybody has it. It's my time.
Everybody has the team.
I feel it.
That's all it was.
It's been... Yeah, I just couldn't imagine.
I just...
It's it, yeah.
But that'll stop the...
The guy who's sitting in the second seat don't say,
don't say nothing?
No, he just,
yeah,
it's,
but then it goes back
to,
so I was having this conversation
in the barbershop this morning
about the play
and he was like,
I'm like,
well,
there's a reason
that this man won the championship
and I don't have a job
three years later.
That's the reason for that.
Call the fucking
spade a spade, bro.
Like, don't, let's call it what it is.
I wasn't the only
one shocked that Frank Vogel got the Phoenix Sun
job.
Who else was out there, though?
I'm not the only one that was shocked that Frank Vogel got
the Phoenix Sun job, dog.
What's so funny, it's also
understanding
sometimes when we're not self-aware, someone has to be. That's what I'm saying right now. it's also understanding, like,
sometimes when we're not self-aware,
someone has to be.
And that's what I'm saying, right?
That's my point I'm making right now. Like, as the guy sitting to pick two,
you got to understand,
yo, my man's doubling you,
so let me probably come and then slip it.
Like, the Dover is your house.
Slip, knowing that I'm bringing my man to you,
they doubling.
But I'm watching KD getting mad.
Like, he got the ball.
He yelling at them.
Yo, get over here.
He calling for the motherfucker aggressively.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
But if I'm Frank Vogel, I know they doubling us.
KD, this is what we're going to run from.
If we do run a pick and roll, it's going to be you and book handling.
Like, we're not going to run.
If we do run a pick and roll, either you handle it or book handle it.
Like, we're not. You said it or he said it, one of the two. We're not going to
involve nobody else in the pick and roll.
It's that simple.
But is that going to work too? Yes.
Now you've got to switch it.
Okay.
Or if you double Book.
Or if you double D Book.
Now you throw it back to KD or vice versa.
That happened the first two times now
Lakers actually have to switch of their defense So if you want to pick and roll and then say okay, so who's guarding that Devin Booker who's learned Devin Booker was lemon daddy
What whoever it is? Okay, let me go double. Okay, and then who's already the best kid and then okay
And then who garden Katie it was Vanderbilt. And he wants Vander off of him.
Okay, we can switch that.
That's what he wants.
That's what I'm saying.
I don't want Vanderbilt on me right now.
So I want...
Whoever.
I'll take anybody else, cool.
Prince, whoever.
I'll take that.
But Vanderbilt...
He wants probably the slower and the lighter guy at this time off of him.
So when you put Cam...
I mean, what's the other boy's name?
But the problem is, I want him off me.
Yeah.
I don't give a fuck about the rest.
Nobody else, just him.
Right, so like...
Get him off of me.
But like, let's say someone had my number, right?
Like, let's say...
You said Marcus Banks.
Like, Marcus Banks is on me, right?
Like, he's on me.
The one guy I don't want, set the fucking pick, right?
At Switch, I don't care if it's Kobe, I don't care if it's Tony Allen, I don't care. I don't care if it's Kobe.
I don't care if it's Tony Allen.
I don't want this one on me because he has my number.
Okay.
So I want the pick so we can switch.
I don't give a fuck if this is the all NBA defender.
This is an all NBA defender.
He got my number.
He got my number.
But the fact that these two guys are doubling, right?
Whoever they was putting in the pick and roll other than D-Book, they was doubling.
So if you're setting a pick and I can make them switch, that's better for me.
And now if me and Larry are setting a pick, right, and then they double and I give it to Larry, now Larry got his own thing.
So if D-Book guy wants to help or double, D-Book is not on his ISO.
It's like Steph Curry and Klay doing a pick and roll.
Yeah, but how many times are you going to let that happen?
Like maybe once or twice?
Then you got to adjust.
Yeah, if it works.
But I'm saying you have to score for me to be able to make that.
Like who says you're going to score every time?
You got a better chance than me.
You got a better chance than me doubling. You're than me double you doubling me now I got a pass
it to Nurkic or whatever whoever that's like a three-point line because he didn't pop yeah I mean
I don't know I just feel like I'm gonna put the same type of height guys on them but it wasn't it
wasn't it wasn't the height it's just that that body style it's the way Vanderbilt was bothering
him bothering us like bothering the hell out of him. Like, just
picking him up. When he pushed him, he didn't have
got his fourth foul for no reason.
He didn't even have to do it.
He just was frustrated up to that point.
The dude bothered him, bumped the KD, got off of it,
went down to go pop
back off and just two-handed pushed
him in his back. No reason, because he's frustrated.
Like, it's
that. Like, no, because he's frustrated. It's that.
Because he had no possessions where he wasn't
guarding him because they didn't create a problem
in order for him to get him off of him.
And then when he went out, he
guarded D. Book. So it's the same thing.
It was just swapping minutes because
KD was in fire trouble. Then he got out of there
and Book got in fire trouble. So now you're not...
They need Bill.
I think that changes. Yeah, no, no. It helps. I think that changes a foul. He's like, so now you're not. They need Bill. Yeah, no, no, it helps.
I think that changes a lot.
Oh, it does.
Because even if you do double off that pick, Bill right there,
that's a better outlet pass than.
It's wild that we're watching this Suns team,
and they just got Bradley Bill chilling, ramping up,
getting ready to come back,
and that big three still hasn't played a game together
So the little fools go right now
Well, how are we looking at this Sun squad?
We're looking at him like we looked at him last year, you know, you got two players that
That's trying to carry, you know carry the team for the most part there. They play well. Yeah, it's everybody else
It's a you know that five position
Now relevant nerd serviceable dog, yeah
Serviceable nice NBA piece. Yes
Starting five where I need to get some shit done
That's a different conversation
Whatever than aiden though. Would you say what do you know you like eight more with that squad?
Eight needs somebody to kick him in his ass
No, I'm just calling what is so he needed he needed somebody daily, man, to challenge him and to make him, like, daily, every game, talk shit to him, get him in a way to hype him up to go out and motherfucking compete.
That's what he needed.
And that's better that he need that, but that's what he needed.
I was about to say that.
No, it's sad that he needed, but that's what it is.
He needs some motivation.
He needs something to happen.
He needs something to go on in order for him to, that's what you're seeing in him.
And that's...
Like D-Book said, when they play,
like, shit, I'm finally seeing him decide to play harder.
It's finally seeing him show it up or some shit, right?
That's fucked up.
I hope he treated everybody else that way.
But that's the problem.
But that's the problem where the fans don't understand
and media don't understand, right?
You want players to pass the ball,
pass the ball and do this, but you don't see, right? You want players to pass the ball, pass the ball and do this,
but you don't see under this hood.
Like, we got to beg this man to play.
We got to kick him in his ass.
We coming to practice.
We got to, hey, man,
you going to get some shots today?
Hey, man, it'd be great
if you get some shots today.
Hey, man, listen.
Hey, let's do a shooting contest,
20,000, first one to make 100.
Like, I got to trick this dude
to work out. I got a trick this this dude to work out I got
I got I got a 10 g's on whoever can shoot a hundred threes first uh who gonna have the best
free throw percentage let's shoot 50 right I gotta trick you to to work out but then on the upside
like when shit going tough and you open over there and I'm oh hell no
And but why you didn't pass it to him? I ain't seeing like no, I've really seen it But you know, I'm not gonna really tell you why I don't want to pass on the ball
You know like just media fans when you asking that tough question
Why this person shoots 35 times or why this person didn't shoot the ball
Trust us whoever was making that decision. It was a good one. There's a reason for it was a reason for
Like when LeBron passes to that open guy, there's a reason he passed that open guy, right?
He trusts us their work ethic. So brandy you mr. White Howard. Oh
Yeah, you think he would
Show who was two sons? Oh Dwight Howard. Oh. Yeah. You think he would? To who? To the Suns.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
Him?
Anybody who want to play.
JaVale McGee.
JaVale McGee.
Yeah, guys like, yeah.
Trust me, man.
Like, it's...
But JaVale's, where's JaVale?
Where's who?
Dallas.
Dallas.
Yeah, he's chilling.
Nah, he's getting some runs.
He's being who he is.
He's getting some runs.
Here and there, but...
Not enough, though.
Not enough.
Nah, who are you?
Nah, he's mad. We'll see what they look like when Bill comes. Yeah, give me that. Yeah, some room? Here and there, but... Not enough, though. Not enough. No, he's mad.
We'll see what they look like when Bill come.
Yeah, give me that. Yeah, because you need him and you...
But my thing is, dog...
Besides
athleticism,
all that shit, like, you got all the tools, man,
to be successful in this shit.
And you got two guys who get all the fucking attention in the world.
Mm-hmm. Now you got three...
Now, well, you would have had three guys, but you got two guys that's drawing all the attention in the world
Though you constantly shoot
17 and 12 year in yeah
That's
17 and 12 a block and had two blocks you would have been
Y'all winning the finals
808 y'all in the fight y'all y'all in the Western Conference finals y'all competing with
that's a fact 17 and 12 and that was my whole that was my whole argument with the
Championship ring in the money. Yeah, when when
When your mindset is I'm just cool being where I am right now.
This is the easiest part.
What do you mean?
Being one of the guys is easy.
You don't have to do nothing.
You don't have to do nothing.
You get to go unnoticed.
If you win a championship, people are going to call you a champion.
But you never had a champion work ethic.
You know what I mean? You never had to be crucified for wins or losses. Like somebody who made 300 million, you got paid that for a
reason. That means your work ethic did that. Yeah, you probably didn't win, but I want to look under
the hood. $3 million for 16 years. Your work ethic was probably worth $3 million.
I'm cool.
I don't want it.
Funny, I never heard no bear downs.
Bear down.
Bear down.
I'll say it, bear down.
But I'm just being honest.
Like, you know what I mean?
No matter where, like, I look at the totality of all of it.
Like, when you break it down, I want to see all right. So this person this person
You're you have no pressure on you
Which means
Which means if no one's paying attention to you
And they got to focus on this
all you have to do is dunk everything and you should
You should be working so hard because the championship will be changed
because of your work ethic.
But what ends up happening is
you fall into that trap
where they don't need nothing from me.
I leave early, come in late.
You know what I mean?
I can be an NBA.
I can go out late doing it
because KD and them got it.
They sitting at home
going to sleep early and shit like that.
Let everybody else. It's that young going to sleep early and shit like that. Let everybody else
It's that it's that it's that young mentality though
Yeah, but that's every a lot of players but that's everybody's yeah
Like when you not the people don't realize when you're not the superstar if you're not
part of the top three
Your mind thinks like that too. Oh top three. Yeah, we do we got the Lakers today
Yeah, top three got to go to sleep early
I got Shaq. I got cold. I got this the rest of them. They out at the club
The other
Club bitch, right? Oh night tonight
Y'all got it
Y'all got it. Fuck that. Let's talk about LeBron just a little bit.
Finished the game 31 points, 8 rebounds, 11 assists, 5 steals.
So, LeBron scored or assisted on 19 of the Lakers' 23 fourth quarter points.
That's not a big deal to you?
Oh, you ain't got to tell me nothing about LeBron James.
He's the oldest man in NBA history.
He's old because he in NBA history. Right?
He's old because he's like 45, right?
So what he's doing right now,
like,
all the greats
that was at the same age,
they wasn't doing shit.
I just want everybody
to remember that.
They was only averaging
like seven, right?
So, you know,
when we're talking about,
like,
top one and two ever,
just remember
the rest of the names
at the same age.
They was sitting, they was doing what we're doing right here.
Sitting down.
No, guys.
There was motivation.
Somebody played like 14 minutes.
Yeah, they played 14 minutes.
Nobody expected them to do nothing.
So what LeBron James is doing right now is Superman shit.
We keep talking about how wild it is.
We don't want to belabor the point.
But, K-Mart, when you see that, we're all obviously older gentlemen now.
When you see LeBron older than you, Brandon, in our age range,
doing what he's doing in year 21,
and I keep asking you to get mad at me,
but is there a concern at all?
Because, God damn, Lakers almost fully healthy,
Gabe Vincent not the mix.
This is anomalous. Like, LeBron can't be expected to do this shit every single game, but it's getting to that point. Lakers almost fully healthy, Gabe Vincent not the mix.
This is anomal.
Like, we, we, Bron can't be expected to do this shit every single game, but it's getting
to that point.
But the fact that he's doing, I mean, like, someone else got credit for saying it.
Someone else went viral for me saying it, that because of all this comparison, we're
not watching it in real time.
We're not watching the greatness in real time.
Oh, they stole your shit, Gil? Of course.
Who said it?
Another former NBA player. That's great, too.
Let it be known.
That's why they talk.
But, you know,
but it's true that, you know,
you're sitting here
trying to figure out ways to
see why he's not great, that you're not really watching it.
That's why I keep saying he's old.
I keep reminding you, he's old, y'all.
He got grades coming out.
He's old.
So y'all can think about this man is old.
This man's not 23 doing what he's doing.
Like when Jordan, you know, scored 20 or when Kareem got out his seat and got checked in the game and Kareem Kareem
Kareem and there everybody's also cuz they down 20 up 20 neat coming in
And it was a big deal
Treat him with the same respect when he gets up there remember Kareem and all this
Just remember what they look like
at that same age yeah and give his name a smile you were off the Lakers initially it seemed like
they bolstered the roster this offseason guys have been hurt we're finally starting to get a glimpse
of what this team could look like close to full strength Gabe Vincent still not in the mix I want
I do want I do want to trade I don a trade. Who are you giving up, though?
You giving up Lemon Daddy?
You already said to trade, Joe.
I'll give up Lemon Daddy.
Listen, I'll give up Lemon Daddy and Rui for Levine.
Now, I wouldn't give him up for DeMar.
Okay, you keeping Lemon Daddy for DeMar?
No, I give up Lemon Daddy for DeMar.
I give up both of them for Lamar,
but I really want Levine.
The only reason is
because he has
the superstar power.
Yeah.
Like that he has
the charisma.
Like, now we're trying
to win a championship,
probably Lamar
because, you know,
the way he plays,
he understands
half-court player.
But I'm thinking about,
like, the future
and, you know...
I know. I know, K-Mart know, I Know I know Kmart I understand
But what happens all the lemon daddy billboards of awesome reason gets trained in this you
Almost went to the website you
Okay, 47 Chicago
So good earlier season you said AD was consistently inconsistent, but he started to find his groove
as of late.
Last six games he's averaged a 27-14, close to three assists, 2.3 block.
And we talked after that Sixers game just about the shot attempts not being there.
He's at 19 shot attempts per game.
I think he took 26 last night.
A lot of those were offensive rebounds, missed layups, but is it time to start putting some
respect on ADs. You know that I think I think I
Think sometimes I think what it is is sometimes like he's averaging 19, but it's like at the wrong time
Right. It's like he's taking 19 shots
But it's never when we we need him like we think about the superstar, someone carrying our team, let six of those shots be in the
last four minutes of the game.
So I think if he just took six shots, and it's the last six shots of the game, we'll
be like, oh, AD's out here killing.
But I think the problem is he'd be so dominant early in the game and then go ghost.
And I think that's what probably irritates, you know, like the Hooper Hoopers.
It's like, oh, now you're a first-quarter guy.
Like you said, we'll see a dominant half.
Last night.
But stringing those two halves together.
Like he had 26 shots.
Yeah, he had 19 of them in the first half.
He was dumb aggressive early.
And seven shots in the second half, bro.
Yeah, nah. He took seven shots in the second half, bro. Yeah, nah.
He took seven shots in the second half.
Wait a minute.
He had a dub at halftime.
He was the most dominant player on the floor in the first half.
And took the second half off.
He needs someone that really values him.
Like he needed Chuckie Atkins
He needed Chuckie. Oh, yeah, right. You need a Chuckie Atkins on his team. Hey, oh, hold on
Nah, nah, hey man, what you need going to shoot?
Coach
He need one of those two. He need yannis brother. Yeah, you need the masses over there mother
He needed his own person for the whole personal. He needed his own personal hype his own personal hype man over this in there hyping the man. You got 32
we need we need a mo you need one of those dudes who just really just
Dare to hype you up to just keep you going so you don't have this okay. All right you champ
Yeah, you're the best champ. I've been around the box. I've been around the box
Yeah, box can have 12 losses. His last 12 losses.
You the best champ.
They can't hold you, champ.
You got him, champ.
Come on, show him, champ.
You got this, champ.
Like, he need that.
For real, dog, like, some players do.
Like, even when I had Chuck, like, I come in, I'm like, man, my ball hogging.
Chuck be like, hey, man, you need to pass the ball around.
Hey, hell no keep doing you
You are here balling soon as you get going put that in your pipe and smoke
That's the best teammate ever yeah, so what do we feel like?
We feel like ad gets held to a higher standard than other guys at his position
Yep, no higher standard. No, I don't know. What's the job you know 80 head cuz cuz he played for the lake Cuz we see it too. We see its potential be hurt
Other than that, but I mean beyond in being you beyond y'all
I think other than that though, right?
When he was in New Orleans, what's the numbers he's put up in New Orleans?
About the same about the same and he was hurt, right? But so there what is by himself?
Like
You supposed to progress I've been hurt. Oh
28 and 11 28 12 and 8 and 12 20. That's what I'm saying in New Orleans
He was him and boogie was boogie and so boogie got hurt. I'm sorry. Okay. Let's
So to read them numbers again a few here, but he was doing so at his peak with the
The New Orleans. Yes me playing about 36 minutes a game taking 20 shots a game 28 28 12 28 11
Year before he came to Lakers with all the turmoils, 26 and 12.
But in those years, 20 shots per game.
We was playing for nothing.
Yeah.
It was nothing.
I put on that purple and- So now you're playing for something and
your numbers go down?
No, I'm playing smarter.
No, you're playing for something and your numbers go down?
My team is better.
You're supposed to be the guy. My team is better.
They're trying to hand you the keys. My team is better.
It don't matter. My team is better. Your team relying
on you night in, night out.
And that's why we got a ring. We got a ring
and we hurt.
Here's the problem. My team is better.
We all know this. We all know. We all heard it.
We all heard it. When I stopped
saying your name, I gave up on you.
That goes for all you superstars out there.
If you think we're picking on you, that means we still care.
In this league, some of y'all don't even get your name called your average in 20.
Y'all want somebody to say your name.
So, AD, when we stop mentioning your name and we just go on and move on,
that means we done gave up on
your potential.
Right? I mean, we don't give a fuck. We
really don't care no more. We're like,
it is what it is. Move
on. Right? So the fact that we're still
critiquing the game, we're still
critiquing your behavior, means
we still see hope.
Keep hope alive is the... Right?
If a coach be like,
hey, Brandon, Brandon, Brandon,
and then eventually
he just stops saying your name,
all right, we just...
Come on, come on, son.
We all heard it, right?
I just feel like as a Laker,
they always try to find
somebody to pick on.
When Russ was here, it was Russ.
Everybody gets it.
Brown's got it.
So I just feel like
if it wasn't AD,
it would have been somebody...
The facts.
It's always going to be like... Yes. So it's like... But AD's a deal would have been somebody it don't know facts like it's all it's always gonna be like
Yes, so it's like but 80s been hurt though
So it's like y'all keep something about first of all the word potential is a terrible word
I don't even terrible. I hate anybody who used the word potential was like it's like a false is he hurt
Is he hurt? I mean he'd be out right?
But it's been playing but I'm just playing good, right? Yeah, he's been playing good.
He's been playing well.
But even with the injuries, other guys get, I mean, been working harder.
But all the injuries, though.
This is my thing.
The things that he'd be out for, right?
Before he got to the Lakers, everything, you look it up, right?
From what I remember, just off of, it wasn't nothing major, never.
Wasn't nothing ever major until, you had a few things that caused a miss,
fell on his tailbone here, yeah, that shit hurt,
of course, things like that, but
for people to have this narrative
that you are never available,
it ain't just coming from nowhere.
People ain't watching the games and you playing and they like, well, the Davies ain't just coming from nowhere. People ain't watching the games and you playing
and they like, well, the Davies ain't playing today.
Like, no.
So it's this thing where you're,
when you are there, you're excellent on some nights.
You top at your position most nights.
You should be.
And on some of them same nights, you show that. You show both sides of the coin on some nights. You should be. And on some of them same nights, you show that.
You show both sides of the coin on some nights.
So we're not being extra critical because he a Laker.
No, his skill set, no matter where he would be playing,
I would have this to say no matter where he was playing.
Because I watch him play.
And I see how his skill set is what it athletically size,
what the NBA is. And what I think he should be doing in this NBA as far as his skill set is what it athletically size, what the NBA is.
And what I think he should be doing in this NBA as far as his skill set.
And for him to be putting up those numbers in New Orleans and you playing for nothing.
And you're on a better team, of course, but you got a 38-year-old guy that's saying you're in, you're out for the last three years.
No, this is AD team.
I want this to be Anthony Davis team.
So why you can't get back to the 28 and 12, 28 and 13, this is what I'm saying.
Maybe it's him.
And that's what- Maybe it's the 38 year old.
No, maybe it's the 38 year old that needs to watch out.
How?
The player?
How?
What do you mean?
I'm trying to rely on you and you don't shoot the ball. You don't score in the second half of some
games. How can I sit here
and not take over when
I'm still trying to win? Because we
all know that's bullshit when somebody says, oh, it's your team.
Go ahead. We all know that. No, no, no. He's trying
until he's 38. What I'm saying
is no team that LeBron James is on,
anybody's going to be bigger than. So we can stop
that. No name is the name.
From 19 to 36, yeah, that made sense.
So let's stop the narrative.
Let's stop the narrative of, oh, AD, this is your team.
Go ahead.
I mean, from 18 years old to probably 36, 35, yes.
But you never heard him say this is somebody else's team.
Because we all knew who team it was but
So we had this conversation with Rashad was here where this comes with me the max your question
Is Anthony Davis top three power for us in any
NBA
Right now. Yeah right now. Yeah any day of the night any given night. He should be top three. Yeah, top two
Most nights should be if you can't be honest. You're honest in him in him, right?
For people to constantly
Have negative or questioning things to say
About you something there whether it's internally whether you don't want it like you just said like maybe you don't want it with whatever but
We watch this shit
That night in Dale Lakers fans. They love they right
so
People has been watching him since he's been here and looking for something, okay, they won the championship in the bubble, he played out his mind in the bubble, okay,
cool.
Since the bubble, like, we need that Anthony Davis.
But you ain't been there.
You been just, because this guy, one thing for sure, we know that this guy is getting
older.
Y'all see that team he played on in the bubble? You've been just, because this guy, one thing for sure, we know that this guy is getting older.
Y'all see that team he played on in the bubble?
Y'all see Rondo and all them guys that he played with?
Like the guys that he played with?
He ain't got that.
No. No, okay.
You know what I'm saying?
That team that he had in the bubble, that Lakers team.
No, no, what I'm saying, how about this?
But this Lakers team, is it somewhere on the bubble?
The Lakers team hasn't been like that.
We're looking at the wrong thing.
But you just said the team was better.
Which one is it?
Like he's playing with better, I mean. No, he's not but you just said the team was better. Which one is it? Like he had to play he's playing with but I mean, no, he's not
When was the last word when was the last I had to take that back? No, no, no, when was the last time?
That we watched the game and said
Anthony Davis won this game for us
Like when Giannis wins a game
We see it right he took over this game and willed the game.
Embiid wills games.
Jason Tatum wills games, right?
When was the last time we said, all right, Anthony Davis controlled this game?
I mean, we have to go.
Now, that's the problem, that we have to really go back.
I mean, it's hard. Look who he plays with. But that's the problem. we have to really go back. Oh, thank me. I mean it's hard look who he plays with
But that's the problem
Look, we play the main the main the main focus is every time the Lakers play us who LeBron James, right?
Come on, like the performance is the performance you go out there and perform like the lemon daddy lemon daddy won a game for us
We'll be talking about lemon daddy. Nobody nobody have we said Oh Anthony David whoo game winner this lemon daddy I
Mean it's eat. I mean come on lemon that we got damn this lemon daddy
Oh, well, I like this we care about lemon daddy. No, but he's no topic because he's he's doing something ad ad you have the ball
Think about think about who got who gave who gave the ball to Lemon Daddy
Anthony Davis
right basketball
play though Gil
I don't give a fuck
why are you supposed to be the man
why are we giving the ball
to our bench man
so he's supposed to
come down go one on one he's a one he wants to come down go one-on-one and play for him
He's one-on-one player in any one-on-one blood. Well, you didn't yannis
What do you if yannis was if yannis had the ball what we gonna do? You're gonna go find Dame
Dame just got there. We're gonna go find a go find himself. We're gonna find a go find himself right now
Dame is we can pull up the clip
now be Go find yourself right now. Dame is gonna pull up the clip Now be
Dane just got there before this basketball season here if you threw that motherfucker to Giannis
We talk about right now cuz cuz at the end day he's the man so I got it
I don't need to give it to somebody just gonna take somebody to tell him that he got Dame over that bitch now
Three day was ready by himself. He shot it got the ball shot that bitch now. Yo, you got zero over that bitch now. He shot that three. Dave was ready to buy himself. He shot it, got the ball,
shot that bitch again, right?
Those are the things
that we need to see
from Anthony Davis.
Everyone does.
We need you to be selfish
at some point
so we can say,
all right, at least he trying.
We don't even see the try part.
Ain't no motherfucking way
in my...
So under five minutes. So heaven forbid Braun goes down, right? Heaven forbid. Don't wish nothing on nobody part, but but ain't no motherfucking way the five minutes So under five minutes, we so heaven forbid brawn goes down right heaven forbid. I wish nothing on no, right, right, right heaven forbid
Mm-hmm
What to you? What do you think?
This man go do night in night should be 30. We should be 30 every night
We it should then it should be it should be it should be that now
We are good It should be that now. We argue. Can we have this argument right now?
I was about to say it.
Beat me too.
The argument about this.
Whose team is it?
KD's or Booker's?
Right?
Because any given night, one of them just takes over the fucking game.
So we still trying to figure out.
That's what we need.
We need to go into the game like hey
Who game is and who is it entity gave it? We need to let it me to be three or four games where Andy Davis like 40 and 15 45 so we can be like
Oh shit is this 80s team?
He might give you two of them a season but will LeBron ever right? I'm just saying I don't matter
I might give you two of them kind of games like them out no 40 and out of 18 out 82
He might give you two maybe three of them, but there's there's a need to be a big
consistently, but here's the dilemma though will LeBron ever give up those keys like
Giving them up giving them up my listen. Let me tell you this dog if Anthony Davis came out and
Made his mind up,
do you see the way Joel Embiid plays, dog?
This man has made his mind up
that can't nobody in the NBA guard me.
He has made his mind up
last year, but this season here.
Go watch this boy play, man.
In his mind,
I'm the best five out here, go watch this boy play, man. In his mind, I'm the best five out here,
and I'm going to prove it every single night.
If Anthony Davis made his mind up that I'm going to come out and I'm going to show people I'm the best power forward in the NBA,
night in and night out.
28, 29, 14, 15. out 28 29 14 15 consistently i don't give a fuck who his teammate is because his skill set
at the four position is that head and shoulders above everybody else everybody else man
i'm just saying so body the. I don't think the body can
Body he can't start here. He can't go to start here. No, who's more aggressive who was more aggressive as a second option
Maxie or Andy Davis
What I'm thinking about Who is more aggressive?
What I'm thinking about.
Jalen Brown or Anthony Davis?
Jalen Brown. Jalen Brown ain't got no assists in the last two games.
That's what I'm saying.
40 fucking shot attempts, no assists.
But that's what I'm saying.
But think, it's the mindset.
You are a number one option
But you playing the number two option, but you're not even the most aggressive number two option. I
Guarantee
You the MVP maxi sin, I'm over like
You know what I mean, that's all like get there. Yeah. Yeah, I can tell you this year right now. No, I definitely hear y'all
Lemon daddy
Lit lit a second
Let Bronco little LeBron go down
He's going LeBron go down
You ain't gotta tell this boy
He ain't finna get 20 a night shot tonight
No doubt in his mind
Did he get 20 shots in there yeah
like that's all I'm gonna show out MVP night in night out film cuz he gonna be
then that thing scream let me daddy Negro tendencies film cuz he gonna be then that thing scream. Let me daddy Negro tendencies
I but it's gonna be I listen listen, you wrote a this Malibu Venice Beach Manhattan Beach
All the whole arena gonna be no
Back in the 60s
He gonna be down to the pit walk around his shirt off. Yeah, so I'm sure blended in
Sandals and Hawaii shorts LeBron a plan
With another dominant power forward in the league I come to be with arm sleep
You might go get him with arms leaving a tattoo. No, all better leave Lemon Daddy alone, boy. I'm telling you.
I like that we've embraced the
Lemon Daddy moniker. Everybody in the chat, it's okay
to call a human being Lemon Daddy when they have
Lemon Daddy billboards all throughout this great city of LA.
Let's talk about the Bucks-Knicks.
Bucks smacked the Knicks to advance
to the Final Four. Giannis dropped 35-10,
eight rebounds, three steals, even knocked
down a three. But one play
had the internet going nuts
That came training really coming through that 50k
Keeps that Oh travel
I mean, I'm happy to was it was they start off as a travel
And then I am is that first dribble not a dribble?
No.
Because I count two.
No.
NBA rule is like a pat.
It's a pat away.
So it doesn't count.
Okay.
And then once he gathered the established foot,
and then it's one, two, the ball's supposed to be released.
So the beginning of that is the travel.
So the pat, and then go and dribble.
That's not the travel. It's the pat. You go. and then go and dribble, that's not the travel.
It's the pat, you go, you picked it up, and then the same thing.
Once you get ready to lift that pivot, that ball better be out of your hand,
and he did it, and then let it go.
He's moving so fucking fast.
Bro, what?
Yeah, hear it.
Just for America, go ahead and start it up.
Because, you know, you know.
Trout.
I'll show you where.
Get ready to pause it now.
Oh.
Gil, they're working hard as they can in the back.
Oh, damn.
They're waiting.
Rewind.
Right.
Okay.
Slow it down.
Hit the button.
Just keep it in slow.
Gil, we ain't got all them buttons.
Right here.
Right here.
No.
We ain't got the part yet. All right. That's legal. That's legal. Now, one, two. Just just keep it as long but get me got on him, but here no
All right, that's legal now one two
Three the ball has already been gone. Yeah, I thought it when he did it. I'm like, yeah
So this is fine all that they're right here. This is all fine. So that three sevens. There's one gather
There's the other one is a gather. He gathered the ball, which is a zero count, and then one, two. So,
all this part is
right. This is where the travel
is.
One.
Now the ball's supposed to go down.
Damn!
The ball's supposed to be down.
That's a gather ship. Now it's one,
two.
Fine right there. So it's traveled in legal so like
so everyone thinks that that that went before the layup is the trap not that's
not what I said I mean you knew when he threw that shit out like that that just
didn't look like a natural basketball motion but You didn't have to show me. I already know travel.
It was like,
Giannis,
I was like,
travel.
I didn't even know
what the play was.
One day,
we got to get Giannis
on the couch.
Because I think
y'all will be friends.
No,
but the pad away,
it looked like
that,
back in the day,
they would have called
that a control dribble.
You control it, but now they call it as a pat.
So you can pat it, grab it, and then go.
Let's talk about the Bucs, Brandon, obviously.
You're a big fan of the squad, Bucs can six.
Ten and two in their last 12 games.
Half game behind the Celtics, the first in the East.
Free time starting to flourish.
This season, Giannis is putting up 30 points, 11 rebounds, five assists.
Dames at 26-7 and nearly 5 rebounds.
Offense is top three in the league.
Defense is 21st.
Would we say that the Bucs are still the team to beat in the East
despite them being second right now, half game behind the Celtics?
Yeah, for sure.
We knew it was going to take some time in the beginning
with the new coach and getting Dame over there,
but the rhythm that they're in right now, it's a good rhythm.
They have a chance right now before Christmas to go 10 and 0.
I think they can get 10 in a row with the schedule that they got coming up.
So we took care of home, business of course, shot the ball well.
Bobby Porter just came out a lot of energy early.
So yeah, on to the next.
Take care of the Pacers and then take care of the Lakers
if they get there.
Who's third?
Like, who's a good third team?
The Orlando Magic are currently there.
Philly's.
Okay, then it's only two teams that can win the championship.
Philly's fourth.
Philly could, though.
No, there's only two teams. What I'm No, there's only two teams in that are...
If Philly is the third team that has potential to win the championship, then there's only
really two teams in a...
Boston and Milwaukee.
Yeah, Milwaukee, for sure.
So, look at the West.
How many teams do you say in the West have a legitimate shot?
Timberwolves are first right now, Thunder second.
But that's what I'm telling you. Everybody says... Not them first right now. Thunder second. But I just want to tell you.
Not them two, man. Nuggets.
Yes.
Lakers, would you say?
That's not there yet. Be curious to see where it is. I'm not going to. Be honest. No, they don't.
Playoff?
Playoff Lakers? They was eight games away
last year.
But that doesn't mean...
Suns? No, but that's what I'm saying.
The West has ingredients that if it gets boiling at the right time,
you might have some teams that can...
It can be an upshoot.
In the East, it's Joel and Maxie.
The rest of the team, they're just not that they don't have enough talent
Yeah, but I've been saying the West we three to four Kelly who brave enough
He was averaging a dub before he got hurt to buy his average in the dub. I'm just calling facts
I know I'm just saying facts of facts and got well that was a 30 Tyrese max average in 24 25
Kelly averaging a dub to buy his average inias averaging a dub yeah that ain't nothing
no hmm that's not right yeah no that's what I think and they defend Nick Nurt I'm just saying
even though they ain't playing my fucking son I'm not gonna be naive and say they ain't got what it
if they're if they're third I think they could be Boston no I think they could be Boston the
series no Boston ain't got nobody to go out Joel Embiid Joel Embiid motivated Boston ain't got If they're a third. I think they could be Boston. No. I think they could be Boston in the series. No.
Boston ain't got nobody to go out Joel Embiid.
Joel Embiid motivated.
Boston ain't got nobody to go out Joel Embiid.
They ain't had nobody to guard Joel Embiid for the last three years.
I said the one I'm saying this year.
Oh, then that ain't going to happen then.
Because the last three years, Boston's done whooped his ass.
I'm with you.
That's one team he can't beat.
They ain't had nobody to guard Jason Taylor.
I'm with you.
I know.
I'm just. I don't know if it's Al Horford that gets under his skin
Somebody somebody over there. He came out that green fucks his up like
There's like Giannis against my
So let's say
Fuck him up for real. I'll be you like, how you keep losing to sorry-ass T, man?
We're talking about the other series, the other game.
Fucking Julius Randle was cooking last night, FYI.
41-piece?
No, he was cooking.
It's just the way it looked.
It was efficient.
It was efficient, 41.
He wasn't out there, motherfucker, just shooting.
No, he was cooking.
Got to go out with the bank.
And motherfucking yawning.
I thought they had a chance early, but they third-quartered the Bucs.
Like, all right, we're going to play a little defense.
We're going to play a little defense. We're going to play a little defense, and we shot the ball better than y'all.
But, no, Julius Randle looked good last night.
So, how many teams did you say in the West have a legitimate chance to win a chip?
And how many teams did you say?
Right now?
Right now?
Right now, one.
Who's that?
Well, actually, shit, because Murray's out.
He's coming back in the game.
Reggie Jackson's in the game. Reggie Jackson's coming back.
But I said so.
Right now, no.
But I mean,
the one who has a pen and free
that actually knows.
All five starters
coming back last year.
You got one.
Suns at full strength.
Playoff started today.
Playoff started today.
I'm going with the Nuggets.
Okay.
So you're not,
playoff started today,
you're not feeling
Timberwolves or Thunder? No. I'm just asking you. Way too early. But I feel like that. No, you're not... Playoffs start today, you're not feeling Timberwolves or Thunder?
No.
I'm just asking you, kid.
Way too early.
But I feel like...
No, you're way too early for shit.
The playoffs start today, the Timberwolves and the Thunder ain't be nobody in the playoffs.
Ain't be nobody in the playoffs series?
I feel like the Timberwolves will give the Nuggets a run.
Get them Golden State.
I guarantee you.
I guarantee you.
It ain't been long enough for Rudy Goldberg not to have flashbacks
You crazy
Golden state up there and that motherfucker. Oh
And so he's what Paul Lee choke Lee choke
You feel to you not throwing a boomerang mix you say
Celtics are both we're gonna fight like you might get that final only way Sixers win
The only way Sixers win a championship is if somehow they they get like Toronto first round
Usually this is the Toronto New York Knicks right and then like Boston
and Milwaukee beat on each other right and then Boston loses and they're like
they played Milwaukee Yadis gets hurt Dame gets hurt and boom Joel Embiid is in
the championship that's it other than that damn yeah I, that's how it has to happen. It's just realistic.
Just being honest with you, you know?
Holy shit.
So worth noting, you know, our resident Bucs expert,
Barron says that Milwaukee's only played two Western Conference teams.
They've been feasting on a lot of mid-teams.
Only real tests have been Philly in the opener, Boston, and Dallas.
So this is coming from our Bucs fanucks face says that 15 and 6 record right now
feels a bit inflated that they still got to come see the Lakers with an inflated
schedule my guy that's I mean you think get that get that harped on that
immediately let my team feast a little bit baby. Let him fees
We'll see we may get that that finals preview Lakers bucks in season tournament championship I think you rock a cement his legacy as the goat with the first ever
Yes, he's a tournament by championship who's who?
It's Indiana versus Bucky. Ha y'all they gonna make it. All right, huh?
Huh? Oh, no, you're honest about to have two quick two quick fouls
He found over all the time. He'll get a foul and an offensive foul in the first couple minutes
Indiana go in the lake is playing Indiana in the championship night. We get in the door They not y'all do it not making it out Adam. So we're not letting that happen. Yeah, he got a stat
He's got a fire trouble time about trouble. You know, he's not stop putting that out there. I'm just saying I'm just I'm just letting you
Know what that shit is in Vegas
So that shit out there
That ain't right. They better make up saying got a guard out there who gets Milwaukee. Yeah, I mean it gets Indian
Hey, there's a bunch of office of house. Who gonna dark guard day? Huh? We're gonna guard dame the ref
Like they guard everybody
Let me guard Huh? We're going to guard Dane. The ref. Like they guard everybody. Like they guard everybody. You crazy?
NBA officiating is back.
All right.
Again, we just want to salute Josh Chivin and his crew.
No, no, they did a great job last night.
Supreme officiating.
Last night they did a great job.
Way to identify.
Reeves still had the ball.
Time out.
They did a great job last night.
Whatever they was looking at, they looked at.
They did right. did the right call.
I don't have no complaints.
All three of them should get, like, fruit basket.
Great official.
Take back any negative thing I've ever said for the time being.
But let's talk a little bit about the league as a whole.
So Adam Silver went on Old Man and the Three with J.J. Redick.
And, J.J., you still haven't come on the show,
so I'm starting to think it's personal,
but that's for another day.
Oh, Bill Simmons?
See, let's unite.
Let's unite and take down the Sweeneys, J.J.
So Adam Silver went on Old Man and the Three
with J.J. Redick recently.
He said he wants basketball analysis
to be more like the NFL.
So I think where we can all do a better job,
and again, I'm not just pointing to the media here, is talking more about the NFL. So I think where we can all do a better job, and again, I'm not just pointing to the media
here, is talking more about the game. And I also, my frustration a bit, I think sometimes
that the color commentary in our games gets reduced to this team wanted it more, or this
team tried harder, as opposed to there's really complex defenses. Like what's the
offense? Like, why is this team losing the way they are? Like, why is this team successful?
Explain what the pick and roll is. Explain, you know, it's funny as our friend Chris Paul is
always saying, you know, what does ice mean? What does blue mean? Like explain what's happening
on the court. Because I think there is this sense that unlike in football, where the coaches are viewed as these field generals
going out there with complex schemes, then in basketball, there's a sense that it's just about
athleticism, you know, or, you know, somehow, you know, the coach's job is just to get the guys to play hard.
I think Adam Silver should start wearing do-rags in interviews, and it would take this shit to a whole other level.
But that's for neither here nor there.
So before we get into it, not to say I even disagree with Adam, but here are a few problems.
NFL teams only play once a week, so that scarcity of supply creates demand from fans.
Average NFL game around three hours, but the actual time the ball is in play is around 11 to 12 minutes.
What the fuck does that got to do with it?
Yeah.
You going to say the same thing?
Yes, absolutely.
I'm sorry.
Go ahead.
I'm sorry, Joe.
I had to say it.
Yes.
Do y'all want to do this, Joe?
No, no, no.
I'm just saying.
I know that's what they know.
Because that shit don't mean nothing.
You're doing good at your job.
I'm just saying.
That shit don't mean nothing what he just said.
It has nothing to do with...
He wants the game analyzed like the NFL.
Higher form of fucking players.
Yes, exactly.
It's that simple.
It's that simple.
You want to know what the ice means?
They listening to fucking Tony Romo, Troy Aikman, Greg Olsen, motherfucking Steve Smith.
T. Sean.
T. Sean.
It's all NFL so they can tell you what the scheme is.
And he talking about during the games.
In-game shit.
When Richard Jefferson is doing the game, listen to him talk.
Yeah, for sure.
But my point, K-Marge, is just you're watching a football game.
There's 30, 40 seconds between plays.
I can break down in more detail.
It doesn't matter.
It doesn't matter.
Like when he says, we need to know what ice means.
How the fuck does the pick...
What is his name?
What is his name?
Walsh?
What will he know?
Where did he learn ice from?
Huh?
Where did he learn pick and roll, double, split?
Where did he learn that from?
He didn't.
He don't know.
But that's the problem.
The problem is the people who were talking about the NBA never played it. You know, who's the one of the best people on TV?
He'll be brown
Can you know why?
He'll be might take him a minute to get there. Mm-hmm. But he'll be brown go explain
Everything about that play. Mm-hmm that happened sure. Because he can tell you about it.
He coached it.
At the highest level.
But former players,
in my opinion,
make the best analysts,
the best coaches.
For sure.
You have some other guys
who are the exception to that.
Rule.
They are the exception.
They got a great sports mind.
They never played it,
but they've been around it, grew up in it, analyzed.
They think it.
They're able to break it down and get people to buy it, whatever it is that they sell it.
You've been in it.
People listen to Tony Romo, and Tony Romo sounds like a genius.
He's the best football player to ever throw a football because he's smart and he breaks every play down and he put it in layman's terms.
So the average fan can understand what happened while he threw that interception.
If you got guys that played, that been in a pick and roll or been in an ice situation or been in the blue,
they'll know what a seven is or 77 is,
they'll know what the drop coverage versus.
No matter, I can explain it during the timeout.
I can explain it while the play is going on.
That's what this man is saying.
Former players, simple.
Remember, ESPN fired them all.
They fired them all.
But that's what I'm saying.
Instead of having generals in the studio,
put them on the game.
But that's been the argument.
That's been the biggest argument that the players is having.
Right?
This NBA analyst,
they're more worried about
the personal part of the NBA
versus the actual knowledge of the NBA
Right here. Oh, so what would you do in this play? I
Let me hit it. I
Would have never there you go right there
Why do you think when these coaches get done?
When they get fired and they don't get a job right or head coach, but they don't get a job right away
What's the first thing they do? The first stop.
Analysts.
They want to get, they want, psh, oh, I can.
A couple years ago, before Chauncey Billups got the job,
y'all listened to the game Chauncey did, I mean, doing TV, right?
Mm-hmm.
It was great.
Ain't never did TV before.
Mm-hmm.
But you know the game.
You're able to sit there and break it down and talk.
Speaks well.
But that's the thing.
It's the easiest thing because we looking at it like, y'all went to college for this? I can beat you at this.
Because all you got to do is tell the basketball player when your guy's talking
don't cut him off. So, during the commentary, give us one simple thing to do
during the TV when the guys, we let them finish the statement, then you can. It's that simple.
But I mean I look at y'all and that's why I'm saying I don't have the one simple thing to do during the TV when the guys let him finish a statement, then you can It's that simple.
But, I mean, I look at y'all, and that's why I'm saying I don't have the same perspective as Adam Silver. I get to sit with
y'all on this couch, and even, hey, did Steph make
the right play? LeBron make the right play?
And the detail that you'll go in, you know
On why he didn't. Yeah. On why he did, why he
didn't. Look at this, look at that. All the other
factors. And I think that's what gets lost a lot, even in
football, too. You'll see plays sometimes
where in the booth, they'll say way, then you get an actual player
who's played that position, like, nah, this is why he did that. It may look like he wasn't
in coverage, but his assignment was a quarterback or whatever it may be. So what I'm really
saying is they just need to give Gills Arena a slate of NBA games.
Like, no, for real, y'all know I don't watch football. I don't know nothing about no baseball. I don't even know what time I come on.
Like, imagine me watching, right,
three weeks of football and baseball and then start coming on here talking about it.
Like, and like, I know what the fuck I'm talking about.
And then when someone challenging me,
I double down.
Like, I double down. Like, I double down.
Like, I really know what the fuck I'm talking about.
I would look stupid.
Yeah.
That's how we looking at some of you, man.
Well, there's more than that.
I mean, I feel like a lot of people, and even on this couch, I'm always going to defer to you guys.
I never had an NBA practice, been in an NBA locker room, played an NBA game.
So what the fuck am I going to tell y'all about NBA basketball?
But a lot of times people look at stat sheets,
go on basketball reference,
tell you about all these fucking elaborate stats
and all those things
and can't look into the finer points
of why their defense is so bad,
why their offense is so good
and those other situations.
So I feel like there's this negative stigma
around a lot of players.
Like they don't respect y'all.
They look at y'all as basically
a big dumb animal.
Dumb jocks.
And there's so much nuance office context and complexity in the game
That you all deal with on a day-to-day basis that you have all this info in your head
Let you guys get that out there to the world. Well, let me just start by saying this
There are some I hear that. Yeah, I
Run I jump
Hey
What they told up in drag, hey, I run I jump. Hey. Listen, hey. What they told up in Drunk.
Hey, I run, I jump.
Hey, football, where the hole at?
Block him.
Yeah, but you got some guys who, they're cerebral in this thing, man.
Like, smart as they come.
And that's the big man, right?
The center and other guys have always got that stigma,
and that's why, like, Patrick Ewing didn't get a job forever because the big
Man is looked at as oh, yeah, he's smart. What's your what could he do?
Yeah, one guard is the smartest one like that's the stigma that the point guard is supposed to be the coach on the court
Yeah, it's supposed to be smart basketball player that could possibly be the point guard
but you have other guys who is just as qualified and and they're improving that over time, guys like Darvin getting a job,
and certain other guys that played different positions over the years
getting a head coaching job now because they've been around in locker rooms
and on staff were able to dispel that notion that guys are just dumb jocks.
And the funny part is the dumb jock is the analyst in this world.
If you give me your top five analysts
and then I say, alright, we're going to take
the top 30 superstars.
You can't go
to Google.
Give me everyone's go-to move.
They'll struggle.
They'll struggle like shit.
What's this mannerism? They will know no cadence of anything. They'll struggle like shit.
What's his mannerisms?
They will know no cadence of anything because they don't have the thing in their ear in
Google to sit there and Google shit to look at, or let me look at Synergy.
Oh, he like going left.
Ha ha, got it.
Got it.
He like going left.
He like going left.
It says 50% left.
Ha ha.
And I'm like, yeah, it says 50%.
That's his highest percentage, but he only took seven shots.
Right.
He only took seven shots going that way.
You should have looked to the right where it looks like 500 fucking shots going that way.
Right?
Like even when someone says, oh, Giannis got better at the midi.
And I got to say, listen, the mid-range is counted from the free throw line in, right?
But on the sides, it gets a little bit longer.
So he can sit outside the key and do a jump hook.
They count that as a mid-range when that's a layup.
That's a fucking layup, right?
So now he's shooting those layups, but they're counting as middies.
Like, you got to really understand this basketball besides the fucking numbers that y'all keep looking at.
Yeah, like, we can watch.
I had a guy, a homeboy of mine, we used to watch football together every Sunday and basketball games and all that shit.
He just, like, would be in awe of me sitting down there and like breaking this shit down
you're like
Dude, I never I would never think to look at that
Or why this happened and I said you play linebacker and I think the same way
Mm-hmm, like I watched the game. I see certain things that happen during the play, but you play middle linebacker
Mm-hmm your vision and your knowledge of what you see is way different in. Okay. Damn, that was a nice play. And he's like, oh, you know why that happened, right? No.
Tell me why. Yeah, the guard did this. He pulled his way. The tackle dropped down. I'm
like, oh, shit. That's how he got open. Right? Yeah. But I'm watching it, and I think I know
football, because I watch it a lot. But I don't know the intricate details on the blocking
schemes, on why the quarterback did this, or why he...
Looking at somebody's knuckles.
Same way with basketball, though.
We can sit and watch a game, and you're going to see it completely different.
Because I'm watching the action.
Yeah, I'm watching...
All the other shit that...
Fans are watching the ball.
They're watching the ball.
People of program watch the ball.
I watch the action.
I'm watching everything but the ball. Because I can see the ball on my peripheral, and my vision is great. I can see the ball. I watch the action. I'm watching everything but the ball.
Because I can see the ball, my peripheral, my vision working great. I can see the ball.
Just the action of what's going on. Okay, damn, he slipped here, he hit him here.
He was up on the screen right here. Okay, he uses instincts against him on this play.
Watch the next play. He going to do this. It's just you start to...
Right.
Like the year when LeBron, I guess they got a soundbite
of LeBron and Wilson
and said,
I'm going to spin him,
spin him back to you.
He's going to Wilson.
Right?
Like, Bismack, get it?
Yeah, because he knows
the cadence of what
a player's going to do.
If you've never been
in the century,
you've never watched
Scouting Ports
and went there
and did it in real time,
sit there and watch
mannerisms, feet.
Like, it's a player's thing.
How much film are you guys actually watching?
I know football players, obviously, play one game a week.
They're spending a lot of that time.
The elite is watching.
There's some that don't even look, they don't even care what.
I mean, we've talked about basketball IQ issues in the league now,
but in order to get to that highest level of basketball IQ,
it's a lot of film breakdown.
The reason you need to watch film breakdown is because
Everyone looks like Superman if you don't know their tendencies their tics their flaws, right like
Just like anything in life we have things we do all the time right like from somebody like um
Or duh like you know I mean we do it when we try to think Like from somebody like, um, or duh, like, you know what I mean? We do it when we
try to think of a word. Same thing in a game,
right? We have things that's
like a substitution, right? So if you
don't pick it up in game film,
that guy might look like a great defender.
He might, he might like block
shots and then there might be a cadence where he's gonna
fake it, right? Like he's gonna fake it
so you can pump fake.
I have to pay attention to what's this, what's this fake on a block it, right? Like he's going to fake it so you can pump fake. I have to pay attention
to what's this fake on a block shot, right? Like he might like to jump off the right leg to go up.
He on his left leg, so if I can, oh, he on his left, I can just jump knowing that he don't like
to plant off that leg to jump and block shots. You know, there's little things that you can pick
up in game film, a backline rotation, how hard he shows, when he shows this way, what shoulder does he look over.
Like, there's just things that you need to just really look in and define game by game.
So how hard is it watching the film versus actually seeing it real-time on the court?
You know what I'm saying?
If you're watching the film very well, then when it's happening in real time,
it's easy to pick up.
Does it become slower now because you've broken down?
Okay.
Yeah, like, this is, Gil can do this
because he watches kids play, right?
He watches his daughter and his son play a lot.
Ask him after the game,
go run his daughter's game down to him,
to her and his son's game verbatim back.
Possession by possession,
what they did well, what they did wrong.
I'm able to do that.
KJ was playing, camera player.
I'm able to, from the beginning of the game,
hey, the first position of the game,
and you got the ball,
it was supposed to go right,
and you came back left,
wasn't nobody there.
He be looking at me like
What a fail like who wait when I didn't record this. Mm-hmm, but it's here
Yeah, and I'm processing on how to help him get better
Gives doing the same thing help. I'd help them get better. So at the end of the game
He's able to run the plays back. Not everybody can do that
Not everybody can do that. Not everybody can verbatim, like, just go back in the roller derby.
Oh, shitty.
Remember during the game you did this?
Okay, you could have did it.
And now it's by the time KJ Senior came around,
like I said on the couch, I'd be like, yo.
And he'd just raise his hand.
He'd just raise his hand.
I ain't even got to say what it is.
I'd be like, yo.
Gotcha. Mm at him. Gotcha.
So, and it's not, and it's being able to do that.
And imagine doing it at the highest level.
And then you got the advantage of being able to watch film.
Being that cerebral, being that thought oriented with your with your craft and
Then being able to go watch it again and slow those same plays down. So you might have missed I was dead on it
Mm-hmm. But how did he get the ball up this time? Yep. I was I was a second too slow
No, I gotta I gotta be I gotta have my foot here next time when you get to make them because he gonna do it again
Mm-hmm It's too slow. I gotta have my foot here next time when I get to make this move because you're going to do it again.
So, it's guys who are smart.
Film, and then you got to be smart, but film enhances your game or whatever you have.
Yeah.
I mean, film, even just watching guys while they're working out, stuff that they're doing,
intricacies.
Like Brandon, when you were playing, how much film were you watching?
When did you get into like really watching film because I know high school level back in those days maybe
y'all watch a little bit of film yeah I'm sure you're Arizona too college started watching a
little bit more but it wasn't what they got now with the synergy and the breakdowns and
all that type of stuff you literally just watching the fucking game broadcast and that's kind of how
we used to break down film back in those days. Yeah, I think when I first started really getting to, well, I first started really getting to film when I went to Italy.
We had to watch film on everything in Rome.
So, and then my rookie year, I watched film a lot with Scott Skiles every day.
Like, after every game, after every practice, whatever, like, we always had to watch film.
So, it was, like, a big thing. And then when I got to Detroit with Mo Cheeks, we always had to watch film. So it was like a big thing.
And then when I got to Detroit with Mo Cheeks, we watched film a whole lot.
So that's what actually helped my game too.
And Stan Van, Stan Van Gundy, I mean, we were in film sessions for
like two hours, breaking down the whole game.
So spent a lot of time with some good coaches with film though.
See, I didn't watch film with the coaches
Cuz I don't know what y'all looking at y'all looking at team shit. I'm looking at individual mannerisms, right? So like let's say like we all see what there we go. We all know
LeBron James's move on the left side right dribble dribble
Look at it
Shot right we can all see it coming from a mile away
we're all screaming it no one's asked what is he looking at to know they can't block it when he
does it right we know he's going to do it he's's on that side. He's looking at probably they move back.
They put their weight here.
He did that for him to know when to do it because it's coming, right?
And he gets it off.
Has anybody blocked it?
And we know it.
He don't do it on the right side.
The left side, he's going to pull the move off because what he's doing is he's looking at the defense
Realizing when they shift their weight some way
So I guarantee you now if you look at every time he took that shot I guarantee you
That person all of them will have done something to trigger for him to do it because he's watching them
While we're watching the ball.
You never watched a film with your coach?
Team.
You have any point guard coaches?
No.
No, that's probably why.
I mean, Mo Teague.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, Scott Scott.
Mo Teague's in.
So we're watching everything.
Because what I'm, yeah, what I'm looking at, what I'm watching, we're watching game and this guy.
I'm looking at how the defense shifting.
Like, all right, if the ball goes here, okay, he has to dip.
He has to go.
He's pointing.
Who's the talk man?
Okay, the man is here.
If I pass it here, okay, he's going.
So I'm looking at all the rotations of the whole defense at the time looking for the weak link
Like looking for the weak link who's like who's slow on pick and rolls like left hand
Like if I if I think like I'm I thought he's gonna automatically run back. I'm trying to score
Right. I think I'm trying to score so I'm trying to be the best score that I can possibly be so from there is like
How do I attack this?
Alright when K markers on this side, it's like so I need to make sure he's lifted if I put him in a pick-and-roll He's gonna jump me so I can't put him in a pick-and-roll on the help side. He's a block shot
So I got a way to hey lift up
All right, you know, okay. Okay, so he didn't want to he didn't he didn't go for that fucking shit
So cuz all he does hey you take my my man I'm gonna sit down here like so so I don't process all that a lift up come came Martin move fuck jumper fucking
Fucking jumper now did this guy looks like he's a great defensive player because he made me settle when he made me settle
You said I mean
The point guard didn't make me settle. You see what I mean? The point guard didn't make me settle.
Kenyon Martin made me settle
because he didn't go for debate
when I had my guy lift up.
He sat back down there, and I want to get my
fucking shot off still.
I'll be guarding Tuan Jameson.
He won't lift Tuan up. He's not going to run a pick and roll
if I'm guarding.
I don't want to do the pick and roll with him and Tuan.
He's going to put it as far away from the ball as he possibly can.
I'm trying to move that motherfucker all the way over there.
Get over there. Stop him out, coach. I'm trying to get to the basket.
Yo, what's the funniest thing about film session?
The stop and rewind button.
Oh my God.
Don't get that shit to a player.
The stop and rewind button.
Yeah, I watched film my tenure with uh in Denver with with Gurg
it was more of a therapy session than film like it was everything good today
choke nobody are you all right but you're the type of player girl. You know I love him exactly that's what I'm saying listen. I love listen dog is without
Gurg
Guarantee no doubt about it
No doubt about it. I would have did some real handy shit to a few people at all
Hmm, I know Gary told me when I was sure that game
I got to spend my friend George life you you can kick my ass, but I can't let you fight the head coach I can't let you fight the head coach. Oh, they thought I killed gurg told me when I was shooting that game, I got to spend him when I threatened George's life. He, you can kick my ass, but I can't let you fight the head coach, son.
Can't let you fight the head coach, son.
Oh, they thought I killed Gurg in Dallas.
He was working out, doing sweep drills.
Gurg was supposed to go left.
He went right with me.
Man, I ran Gurg over the dog, like, like flat.
Gurg had a crack at him.
Yo, everybody ran over the Gurg. Gurg the girl like you motherfuckers I'm
okay hey girl you're all a big man huh mm-hmm mm-hmm we talk about girl who had
the camp in Vegas summertime yeah that was the those was the time yeah all the
big men were there huh oh shit where we going you what I'm just saying
I'm just saying so like all the big man right there going to Berg for the big man moves
I started at Pignol Pignol, right? Yeah, I remember
Like my rookie, yeah, I know
Go to Hawaii like you're like you're a door here
Like the big man were happy and they kept going back
to him, right? How much do you think he was charging you? I didn't pay nothing. I guarantee
he didn't win no championship. I can guarantee. I didn't pay nothing. He was in the Hall of
Famer. So he wasn't hitting you for 50? All I'm just saying, you know, that's crazy. That's
crazy how all the big men back then, you know, was going to them to learn big man moves.
Ain't that crazy?
Yeah.
That's crazy as hell, right?
Yeah, now, girl.
You got a legend out there working people out and nobody want to go because nobody.
Just the workout probably wasn't.
Let's move on to hibachi time, please.
Probably wasn't Stella.
I was getting ready to cook.
I'm just saying, King, how long you playing the league, King?
You ever go down to Houston, King?
Dude, I ain't down.
I'm just wondering.
Oh, Lordy Jesus.
Let's talk about...
Hibachi time.
The Orlando Magic.
I hear Hibachi.
Only made the playoffs four times since 2011.
Four straight losing seasons.
But headed in the right direction this year.
Nine and one in their last ten games.
They're just coming off a franchise record, tying nine straight wins.
They took an L to the Nets this weekend.
That broke their streak.
Currently third in the East. Six players double figures led by Franz Wagner Paulo ban Chera ban
Carol, however, you said Paul the banker
Paul the banker
Are the magic for real or Fugazi
For magic standards
That's real For Magic standards. They're for real.
They for real Fugazi?
No, they for real.
I mean, they for real for what they own.
They for real.
I think it's that switch.
I think it's that switch that every team has.
Like, you know, they've been struggling since, what do you say,
playoffs four years, since 2011.
It's that switch.
They got the young'un.
Who they beating in the first round?
Hmm?
Who they beat?
Yeah.
Who they beat?
It's the East.
In the East.
Who is the East?
I mean, if they could stay,
if they could stay, what,
top five,
they might have a chance.
So right now,
they would face the Pacers.
Man, off.
They beating the Pacers
in the first round?
Man, off.
They making the playoffs.
Your magic making the playoffs.
Okay, but they beating the Pacers in the first round? Why not? They make it in the playoffs. Yeah, Magic make it in the playoffs. Okay, but they beat the Pacers in the first round?
Why not?
I mean, you never know, man.
Man, you come on.
Has the Pacers been back to the playoffs?
No.
But we know when it comes to the playoffs, man.
So we can't say that then.
They not yet.
But is it far enough if they beat the Pacers?
No, it's not.
It's that young, happy in the season.
We in shape. Everybody, yes. Like, they're doing what they do as a, happy in the season. We in shape.
Everybody, yes.
Like, they're doing what they do as a young team.
They're getting out on everybody.
But, I mean, to take them serious.
You know, I would take.
No, not.
If they meet up in the playoff series with the hypotheticals, I'm taking Orlando against Indiana.
Against Indiana?
Yeah, because Jamal know all Rick Carlisle tricks.
But who's
a game changer in Orlando?
He's coming down to coaching to me.
We know Hansborough
can turn over. I mean, he can
change the game. Halliburton?
Halliburton, yeah.
Who's over there?
Franz Wagner, Paolo.
They can change the game in the playoffs?
In the playoffs?
I think against the Pacers.
He don't even know what his left hand looks like yet.
He literally going to go.
He come back right every time.
He's young.
I watched three plays outright.
Yeah, I don't think that.
Well, we know this.
You're a young fella.
Trust me, this league, they ain't scouting you like that young fella.
You know this league, right?
During the regular season, confidence and winning is learned.
Yes.
It's learned behavior.
And your confidence get what you have.
They won 9 out of 10.
I think that's going to go a long way this season.
Making the playoffs, should they give you 10 chances to do it?
So, I think think that, yeah.
But they're in that top six right now.
Right now, of course.
Where they at right now?
They're third.
Third.
Yeah, they're finished about five, six.
Do you still respect teams in the top six?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Okay.
Yeah.
Top eight.
So still top eight.
I respect teams in the top eight.
Still get your respect.
Yeah, we don't expect that nine.
Nine and 10 can kiss my shoes.
But
neither one of them won nothing
yet, been in the playoff series yet. You don't know what
you're going to get from them. The only thing scary about
Indiana is they can
score the fuck out of that ball when they want to.
Now, if they decide to
play some defense, then yeah, it would be
like
really scary because no one can, right now, no one's stopping they decide to like Play some defense then yet. It would be like
Really scary because no one can right now no one's stopping them. They move too fast. Yeah the point Go that age. Yeah, but I
I just think come back as Indiana Lando
With some yes, I mean you're both doing great ass job over there. Yeah, come guys
We will get to that in a second, But I'm just saying, it's not like, yeah,
some teams are going to face in the Eastern Conference.
Let's just be real.
You get the Bucks, the Celtics, even the Heat.
That's going to be problematic.
But you get a team like the Pacers.
Why are you throwing the Heat in that conversation?
We can get the Heat.
They can't get the Heat.
Somebody can.
They're not getting it.
Orlando?
Indiana.
Orlando not getting the Heat.
You think Indiana?
I'm just saying, playoff experience, coaching, Spoh.
You're going to need a superstar to get through Jimmy. You don't need two superstars. They got two burgeoning was do young
You need like grown men like if the rep who the ref giving that that call to fair Jimmy or
They might give it to Jaime haka, you know
Just like them, young.
Yeah, right now they're third, man.
They're doing what they're supposed to do.
Winning is a learned behavior in the NBA.
And they're doing it.
They're doing it right now, so that's going to grow and continue.
You got them believing.
They're young, which, you know, youth goes a long way.
And duration throughout the season.
So, yeah, five, six.
For sure.
Easily, and right now, because the East is not.
Making those playoffs, I think building for the future.
But, Kenyon, Jamal Mosley was an assistant during your time with the Nuggets,
so you have a unique perspective.
And a perspective you can really only get on Gil's Arena, Adam Silver.
You said the league is too much entertainment. We're really about to get into the nuance you still have not
pulled up to the couch you still have not credentialed anybody on this couch for any nba
events but uh you know you want the league to get better shit come on to willie hills we'll put your
name on the gate they'll scroll through uh what is jamal mosley brought to this magic squad and should he be in the coach of the year
discussion just to preface that he's currently second behind OKC's Mark Dagnon it's 21 20 games
into the season bro like done a hell of a job so far now Jamal brings what coach of the year shit
I don't know you never know somebody He's in that conversation right now.
But somebody else can get extremely hot.
You never know.
But wish him well in that regard.
I hope he...
But what he's brought is youth, honesty.
I think he's honest with them guys.
I don't think he sugarcoats it.
I think he tells them exactly what it is and how to be successful.
Jamal knows what it is to work.
Jamal started out as an unpaid intern in Denver.
So he wasn't an assistant getting paid or nothing at first.
So he knows what it is to work to get to where you are.
And being able to reiterate that to your team,
I think goes a long way to telling the facts
and certain things when you were around and the players who you were able to coach and things like that, I think
go a long way. And having youth, man, like I said, I'm going to go back to having youth
and having a few young guys who are making a name for themselves on the way to be superstars
in this league, I think is valuable pieces. And yeah, so I think their future is bright in the NBA
if they keep the core together and keep growing and building,
tweaking it, but keeping their core together, man.
Jamal is a good coach, man.
He's my AAU coach.
Pumps.
He coach the pump team?
Mm-hmm.
Damn, legend. My pump coach, yeah. He's been around
for so long, man. He hooped at Colorado, so just to see where he's at. So what was he
like for you coaching at that level, and did you see anything then? Not. Like, he was a
player's coach. She understood when I got in my mode where I was not passing ball. He
understood. Stay the fuck out of my way.
No, I'm serious.
Yeah, we know you are.
No, I'm just for real.
No, but no, he was great.
He used to be one of those that, like, listen,
there's times where you need to take over the game
and there's times where you need to get the teammates involved.
And this is one of those times if you want them to really, like,
be there at the end of the game because they got to play defense.
They got to rebound.
They got to do all these other little things.
So they got to feel good about the game too.
So, you know, go ahead and, you know, give it up to them a little bit
so they can feel like they're a part of this game and not just one-sided.
All right, Coach.
And something else I saw from afar.
I'll let you go, B.
Something else I saw from afar that not too many head coaches or shit,
probably none do.
Jamal still is actively doing player development.
He's on the court with the guys.
Still actively doing it.
Not too many head coaches doing it.
Probably none.
Probably none.
If I'm being on the floor like sweating before like
and working on it yes they're working out with guys so that's building that building that do
you feel like that gives a coach an advantage even as a player when you can see a guy out there
yeah you're building you're building trust you're building camaraderie you're building trust, you're building camaraderie, you're building something.
Not just I come in when it's time for me to give my speech and you don't see me again until practice.
No, that ain't coaching.
You're getting to know your guys, spending time with them.
You never know what they're talking about during the workouts and getting to know you.
Everything good with you? You're personalizing it. You ain't just making it, I'm coach, you player.
Which goes a long way, man.
Yeah, as a coach, just like players got to know each other's habits.
Like, I got to know when, just by looking at you, he ain't, you know, he going to have a bad one today,
he going through some shit.
I got to know when he feeling like, oh, you know what I mean?
Like, it's good to, coach got to know that too. I got to know when he's feeling like, oh, you know what I mean? Like, all right, it's good.
Coach got to know that, too.
Coach got to sense those, too.
Like, even though, like, you 0 for 5 and I look down and your shoulder's still high.
Okay, go on, get in.
Because I know those shots ain't tear you down.
You still got the confidence.
Like, that ain't fading you.
Like, you got to be able to read your players to besides just an endgame like the the the
Stat sheet is the stat sheet now. You got to be able to read body language as a player
And I mean as a coach and if you not
Looking at those talking to those guys outside of those practice moments to understand their behavior
Then you behind the a ball on that too
Yeah, I think Jamal has done a great job of the coaches that he's
been around.
He's been around and
taking bits and pieces from all
of them. Good and bad, do's and don'ts.
You know, and being able to
implement that. I think they go a long way,
man. Like, hearing why your
players, like, you're in the locker room,
hearing why we don't like fucking George.
Yep.
Like, he hearing this. Like, what George doing that got us to where it's like man we're gonna rock with dude man
or him you know when Michael Cooper took over like hearing like nah man don't do it that way
or him going to Dallas and him winning and be like him seeing the way Rick Carlisle doing and being
in Cleveland under Mike Brown and so it's
taking the good and good and the bad and leaving the bad over here and I think
now he's able to okay success looks like this and straight line and X success mm-hmm
and you mentioned just as a coach being able to recognize your players and what's going
on tendencies and all that, but how much is that too on like star players on a team like
yourself to be able to have that relationship with the head coach to be like, oh this guy
don't got it today or trust this guy, I'll get this guy.
I mean you gotta have the relationship with all the players.
Yeah.
Cause you know it is a team, right?
There's like, like I said, like when I'm playing against Chet, right, and I'm Memphis, there's only one player I need to play that I know I have an ace card.
And that's Kenny Lofton.
At every stage they played, Kenny Lofton bust his ass, right?
So I don't give a fuck how many games he played.
He playing that game.
He playing that game. He playing that game.
Because I know every step of the way, Kenny has.
So that means he's scared of him.
He's confident against him.
So I know 30-something minutes, Kenny going to give me 30.
30-15 going to make him look bad.
So I, as a coach, you got to know that.
Right?
So I know, hey, there's going to be four games where I know this man read he is gonna play
Well, this man gonna play bad and I'm gonna use that as a coach
So there might be a you gonna play today big fella get warm, right?
But you gotta know you gotta know that with all your players you got to understand that with everybody
You you around them long enough.
You hear them on the bus.
You hear, hey, who going out tonight?
Now you got to look back like, oh, shit.
So you guys are having these conversations.
Hell yeah.
Hey, 112, you know we loud in the motherfucker too.
You don't give a fuck.
Hey, hey, hey, hey.
Who got the car tonight?
Who set up the car tonight? Yeah. Because, you know, in college, the muffled to it. Oh, yeah. Hey, who got the car tonight? Who set up the car tonight?
But yeah, cuz you know in college is a little different. Oh, yeah, we're gonna go back to the room
You gotta know who your team you gotta know who your strip club do see if you gotta know it all if you're trying to
Be successful as a coach as a Western name like you
See what coach walk by rough lightning that. I don't know big fella
I'm ready now, huh?
Favorite coach ever played before and why played for and why my was probably Eddie Jordan
Because he let he let the players for the most part be them
I mean, you know him and Brendan had their own little issue
but for the most part he let the players beat him if if if if we have if we all like like Yo, we we can't give you nothing today
Here like five minutes. We can't even eat five minutes coach
How about fuck a day off there? Like we we getting ready in practice. We started looking at each other you got some boy
No, no, I ain't got nothing either.
Hey, Coach, we ain't got shit for you.
He be like, all right, what the fuck are they all to?
I ain't got nothing.
I ain't really want to be down here anyway, god damn it.
So he was, you know, he's Showtime.
Yeah.
So he understood, like, that player, Coach.
You had him.
I don't know if he was like that with you guys.
I love EJ.
Oh, you love EJ.
Yeah.
What about you, Josiah?
Coach?
Yeah.
I mean, shit, probably Willie West, just to be honest Oh, you love AJ. Yeah. What about you, Josiah? Coach?
Yeah.
I mean, shit, probably Willie West, just to be honest, but high school legend.
Crazy.
Is that a Crenshaw?
Crenshaw.
Back in the day.
Crenshaw.
Six-hour practices.
He ran in a straight military regime, but really to keep kids off the street.
Yeah.
But six-hour, not unusual.
Just show up 12 o'clockclock on Friday leave about 630
Normal if I was a so we get now early today
But that's but that's
That was his whole approach like a lot of kids out there in the streets doing dumb shit
I'm gonna keep your ass here in here
I'm gonna make you so tired that when you do go out there all you want to do is go home to go to sleep
Bring your ass right back here again. Oh, yeah, so make sense. We're the gang bang gang and and workout
I'm too tired to crib
in the league
Mike Woodson, yeah, I like Woody
some grass great coaches.
You know, my high school coach and, you know,
Howard Levine and
Luke.
Luke was a great coach.
Luke seemed like just from afar, like...
No, he was...
You said Eddie and EJ didn't get along.
I'm off with Brandon and Eddie didn't get along.
He called in low post and motherfucking
Brandon down there going to that motherfucking jump hook, nigga.
Nah, you know what it was?
It was defense.
We was down 0-2 in the playoffs
against the Bulls, right?
And everybody talking about defense. You know, Eddie.
It ain't the defense's offense.
You ain't running the goddamn place.
Right? And then
what happened is
like there was something that happened and brennan was like
nah that's how you do the defense he's like well you want you want to coach defense all right fine
we out and coaches left game two this is we just lost we owe two of the playoffs and brennan's like
listen we're gonna do the one two two gill they're trying to make this pass to uh duhan
deny it just deny it so he can't swing it because they're swinging it to Luol Deng.
Luol Deng is running past Antoine, and that's fucking it up.
Just deny it so they can't pass it this way and bring it back this way.
That's all we need to do, and we can win this.
That's all.
That's it.
For Odom, he hated Brendan Neveson.
Showed him up. Showed him up.
Showed him up.
Oh, I got to hate him.
He's biting his motherfucking red head.
For real, showed him up ever since then.
He was trying, ever since that, he was trying to find out how to replace him as a center.
Brendan, who was your favorite coach?
My favorite coach?
Dominguez.
No, not Dominguez.
Who?
O'Kell. O'Kell coach. Coach? Dominguez. No, not Dominguez. Who?
Who?
O'Kell.
O'Kell coach.
Man, I would have to go Stan Van Gundy.
It was an O'Kell coach.
Nice.
Stan Van Gundy.
I'm not top five at O'Kell.
I know.
We just wanted to see what you was going to say.
Oh, yeah.
So he didn't call you top five so you don't like him no more?
No, I still like him.
You still like him? We just lost respect for him it hurt a little bit it hurt me
uh no you know why i like stan though i like stan van gundy because that's when i was
having the turning point in my career like i started understanding the game um i mean the
teaching i mean you know stan is like you know he's long he likes to uh talk talk but teaching
i think just the x's and o's and the turning point of where I was headed in my career,
he really helped me out a lot. Just by just understanding and, you know, just taking the
game differently. You know, just having a different perspective. Like, yeah, we were over,
like over prepared, but I mean, being prepared is, you know, better than not being prepared.
I think that's why I don't like Stan.
Nah.
No, no, no. So, my problem with Stan
wasn't
the basketball part, right?
X's and O's, top.
Right?
Overly prepared
on a team that had a bunch of professional basketball players right if if he
was coaching orlando now good if he's coaching houston good if he's coaching detroit pistons
right now cool put the discipline all that but when you when you have all-stars, all NBA players on your team,
and you're trying to run three-hour practices,
you know, shoot-arounds,
tape going full,
no. You're running your
play. This is a practice.
We were having, literally, games before the game.
Our shoot-arounds was games.
We're having full
tape, everything.
I heard. this ain't no
Kick this ain't no soon as the things start and you like our paths cut through I said hard
Like you supposed to cut it like game so we are like I'm finished like you I gotta get my knee drain on the show around Yeah, and then he didn't know how to talk to people. Yeah. Yeah, I was like man you a horrible ass people person
You horrible people place. I just didn't like the way he talked to the team
like the score is
18-4
They scored two points. He want to call a time you motherfuckers ain't ready to play today y'all so some all out
Right now. Yeah, but I mean damn coach
Should the fucking score 86
It's just he just wasn't he just wasn't a good people person. Yeah, but that's all I know
I ain't thank God if he had a mute button on
If he had a mute button during like the game
Like during the game like like as soon as the game start soon as it start
Play boom timeout timeout. You got to be careful. Gotta keep it on low valve
I've been nobody see
Because he's one of those that like if you're a team man, like think about it
Like like everybody watches everything right and he'll be you a mystery shot this stupid sorry motherfucker
And we looking at like
As soon as you miss a shot you want to look over and see what he goes there about you. Yeah, but
Yeah, motherfucking Denver the same shit he did that shit man, come on man, you know I
Fall out in your chair again and see what happened
You like turn the ball over I'm the one to come right over there and tell right you in front of everybody you you did
That shit in front everybody everybody you you did that shit
In front of everybody guess what fall out in your chair again if I do something I see what the fuck
Yeah
But that be the thing like people don't watch my chair like I didn't see them do it
Yeah, you do like yes that right there you make a turnover and you see him do it this shit
Yeah, and then and as soon as you turn it over you want to look to see if he doesn't eat life. Fuck man
I do it on purpose. You're the three light and see the same to somebody
He did that shit, yeah, so yeah, yeah, you know horrible horrible people per to walk through the locker rooms
Don't speak to nobody that kind of shit.
I don't fuck with people like that, no.
So on the subject of Jamal Mosley, you said it's a little too early for Coach of the Year talk,
but the last Magic coach to win a Coach of the Year, only one in history, Doc Rivers, 99-2000.
Team was 41-41.
Missed the playoffs.
Wait, wait, what?
What did you say?
You said Coach of the Year. Magic have wait, what? What did you say?
You said coach of the year.
Magic have one coach of the year winner in franchise history.
Your guy.
Glenn Doc Rivers, 99, 2000 season.
They were 41 and 41 missed the playoffs.
Now, time for Mostly Fans.
And they had the fifth pick in the draft that year.
Five, ten, and thirty.
Your guy.
Make sure.
Hey.
41 and 41, What'd they win?
Did they win zero games
the year before
to get...
What?
One half his game
to get coach of the year.
Hey.
Hey.
What the fuck that is?
We're googling it now.
Ain't no damn way
you were coach of the year
at 50%.
They were 33 and 17
the year before
lockout year.
So he won eight games and then he
They had a lower winning percentage than the year before
That's our first question that's a finesse for your ass first question video question underdog user already.
Peace, Gills Arena.
Just wanted to ask you all, between KD and
LeBron, who's the better
player, and who do you think
will go bald first, or shave their
head?
What up, Lexi?
Lexi's not here today, first and foremost.
And there are other people on the show.
I guess he's here.
You look cute.
Who's a better player?
We had Sheet on the show yesterday.
He said KD was the best player in the league to him right now.
No disrespect to anybody else.
But who's a better player, KD or LeBron?
And who goes ball first?
I can ask who goes ball first, but neither. a better player, KD or LeBron, and who goes ball first? I can't ask who goes ball first, neither.
They're holding on to it.
It looks like both of them are going to keep it until they just got a patch.
KD got to start rocking the Elgin Baylor wig when he was with the Clippers.
That shit used to lay down nicely.
I think, has Bron went ball before?
Yeah. Yeah, when he's in the way he realized like this ain't it looks for me so he's
going through it it was a dark is in dark mode yeah I didn't try to work out
a do-rag before that shit is impossible. I hate it.
Ain't like a headband. They don't hold no sweat in. That shit just building up, just dripping right here.
He constantly got that durag on. I don't know.
Because they different, man.
That's what I'm saying.
That's the argument.
That's what I'm saying.
Like they different.
They different.
Like what is the criteria?
Yeah, that's like KD said, have you ever taken into account they never asked me to pass the ball.
So it's like if they did ask him to average five, six assists a night,
then, yeah, it just.
Who's a better player?
What career do I want?
I mean, I don't know.
I mean, Bron, man.
I mean, Bron came in and lived it, lived it up.
Yeah, if you're going through it, if you're doing it that way,
then you got to go LeBron.
But if it's.
But player two, I mean, they both.
I mean, you got one that's...
I don't know.
But you see how, like, even with us,
none of us took in...
We didn't take in those stats.
We didn't talk about no championships.
We didn't do none of that shit, right?
We just said, all right, as the player, like...
But, like, you're starting your team right now.
You got LeBron, you got KD.
It's not going to be a clearcut Well, I'm gonna do this
I'm gonna say if I got the number one pick I like to swap my number one pick for the number two pick
So whoever you pick I can just get
second in two
It was like that one remember that that year where they had who would you rather cut keep or bench?
and it was like Russell Dame or curry and
Then I said this I
Don't know how we gonna do this, but I don't want to I don't want to play against Russell when he mad
Damn, I can't cut Dame because the game winner right? Damn, I can't cut chef curry. I. I don't even want to. Bob Myers or Miles? I don't even want to do it. Bob Myers.
I'm not going to waste my time.
I don't want to do it.
I'm going straight to the studio.
I don't want to do it.
Bob Myers.
There's just some things you just don't want to do, and that's one of them.
Yeah, like my draft.
People in Vancouver are like, listen, the Nets don't pick you.
You won't get past us.
And two.
Two.
So, relax yourself.
So, they do something dumb.
Mm-hmm. We got you. You good. Dude, relax yourself. They do something dumb.
We got you. You good.
So, next video, Chris.
Question from Underdog User.
I think it's Tony Ounces.
Tony OZS.
Hey, Gil, with you giving all these secrets out,
how long you going to think it's going to be
before the NBA ban your ass?
Ask the chat that.
Ask the chat that. Ask to chat that.
We already been banned.
Banned from what?
We already banned.
You already said we're fucking with the broadband.
We ain't banned, but...
Yo, can you get us a media credential?
Us?
Yes.
I can probably get y'all one. I don't think they gonna give me one.
I ain't giving me one either.
Not after my Untold.
Ooh. Is that a tease? They don't give me one either not not after my untold
Teej you know me and Javaris doing untold. Oh, they don't fuck with me either cuz I hang out with you
You get immediate pass. Yeah, we can get me a pass. They said now you got to wait on the loading dock
Sneak interview media passing nothing to get yeah, but but again again... All we do is just got to do media dumb shit.
You just ask for one.
Who's better?
Who's better player?
All day, if you...
To get a media pass,
just do a whole bunch of shit
that just don't make no sense.
But if you get a media pass,
you ain't got to pay for the tickets
to go to the dunk contest,
the all-star game.
You ain't got to pay to go to none of that shit.
But then they play you now.
They put you in the...
Hey, who's a better... they put you in the house a better
Who's a better analyst
Skip Bayless or
Anybody else skip or shensha
Shannon
You know who getting more bread and I'm rolling with Shannon but skip generational trouble I skip skip love of hating it's so consistent that
it's like you really have to just take a step back and appreciate I wish you just
I'm gonna start doing that which is I'm just I'm sorry gonna see who's the goat
who's the goat of analysts just thought yeah just thought that Just start an argument. Yeah, yeah, just start an argument. That's the big analyst.
Just start an argument for no reason.
What PR is...
Hold on.
The fact that y'all said Shannon is better analyst than Skip.
Well, he's not.
History, no, but I'm a Shannon fan.
You're not rolling with us?
No, no, I'm just averaging his questions.
I'm a Shannon fan.
It sounds like you're a person.
I think Skip is funny.
You still love Skip?
No, I'm just saying, like, I mean, Skip is funny.
I mean, Shannon's been doing it for about eight years now. I like him as a person. He's been doing for a minute eight I think seven a little longer, but the kick out skip who's been doing it for 30 years
I do that's cool. Skip look like Skeletor. So yeah, I like skip like Shannon has a person. What's his name?
I mean Stephen a skipper Stephen a
Are you saw do that when Trevor reason you were the best second round pick ever,
Shannon Sharpe kept pressing him?
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
No I think Shannon realizes how good I was because he's done had two guests and both
guests have said the same thing.
Okay.
We gotta get T.A. on the show.
Like, no I was just wondering because you know like when you think about media
no one no one ever grades them nope so I want to I want to start grading them just to see what
just what the consensus is like we could do a we could do a preseason list preseason list
preseason top five based on what they're gonna do this season
start getting them up again hey how you how you got me third you got me third? You got me third behind. Whoa, Shaw.
Hell no.
Should Fox Sports trade Skip?
Should Fox Sports trade Skip while they can still get some value?
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah, we back.
Where's Will Bar?
He's a dark horse in this race.
Him and Kornheiser.
Our last question from MostlyFans user Ronaldo9.
Hey, guys.
Do you think Golden State should trade Andrew Wiggins and Kaminga for Pascal Siakam?
No.
If you don't want no former employees disrespecting coworkers, come on to Gil's Arenas.
Security.
We really got love in this street.
Disrespecting co-workers.
Disrespecting co-workers.
I can't get jiggy with this shit.
Co-workers, security,
it's just...
I'm merely here to host
and get on Gil's level.
I'm trying to get inside
these gates
with a permanent resident.
Can you say that?
No.
No?
No.
So you're not giving up Wiggins and Kaminga for Pascal Siakam?
No.
Why not?
Just not.
He's a fucking...
Don't need that.
I would.
I would.
But Wiggins...
Yeah, I would.
He can score.
He gets it.
From Toronto, right?
Yeah.
Yeah.
For sure. Right now. NBA champion. He can score. He gets it. From Toronto, right? Yeah. Yeah.
For sure.
Right now.
NBA champion.
NBA champion.
And he can score.
The mother two, I mean, what they doing?
They ain't gave Jonathan Kaminga a chance to really be what he could possibly potentially be, I think.
Because Dre has been in his way.
So it's Kaminga and Moody, right?
He said Wiggins and Kaminga.
I'm not trading Jonathan Kaminga right now.
I like what I see.
Yeah.
I'm just being honest.
That's true.
What is he?
This is just real.
He's a 3-4.
3-4, but playing for...
After that championship, and he was, what, the third option?
Right?
That's where he made his name.
Since he had the team by himself as the number one option,
what has he actually done?
He's been...
No, I think one year he had some...
I think he was an all-star.
No, no, I...
Yeah, I'm going to say he's been getting...
All-star last year?
Yeah.
From record or him performing?
24 points a game.
24 points a game. 24 points a game.
Yep.
Coming from the third option.
No, he's the number one option.
He's the number one option.
Last year.
He was in like, remember he was putting up 20 when Kawhi was there, right?
Yes.
He was putting up 20 when Kawhi was there.
And I think when Kawhi left, I think he went up to like 25, 26.
No.
So 23.
To me, he ain't take the leap.
So to me, you're just moving furniture.
If you trade him for Andrew Wiggins, you're just moving furniture.
And I think Andrew Wiggins is a better defender than Pascal Siakam. So I'd rather keep Andrew Wiggins, you're just moving furniture. And I think Andrew Wiggins is a better defender than Pascal Yacoum.
So I'd rather keep Andrew Wiggins and Kaminga
because Kaminga's future is bright.
He has a bright future.
I think if he had an opportunity to go out there and compete
and play major minutes in this NBA athleticism size,
I think he got a better...
People don't understand.
What he gives me, I can get from a second option
Right when you when when Kawhi left
You're averaging 20 you're you got the team you you won a championship. The team is not good, right?
You would have thought if we wouldn't have said anything you would have thought he averaged at some point 28 29 you would have thought
24 yeah with van fleek with van fleek over i mean they i mean i mean they lost i mean but winning the championship and trying to re like come back
the next year is like there's no come back to win the next champion there's no gonna win a champion
his numbers could have been better he could have came back and averaged 29 and took that leap as
a star he's not a star he's an all star. He's an all-star. He's an all-star.
There's 24.
I mean, that's taking a leap, though.
From a third option to being an all-star,
that's a leap.
The all-star, how many years?
For him?
How many years later after Quiet?
He was an all-star last year.
But for him?
That was an all-star because
he was a replacement all-star.
Right?
I don't know.
He didn't make it. He was a replacement. Whatstar right i don't know he wasn't he didn't make it he was a replacement
what i'm saying is you have no one to you should be you should be like the dude like we should be
talking about you not talking about you as a we should be talking about you averaging 28 like you
where is it we just he just every year 23 24 like he's consistent at that like where is it? He just, every year, 23, 24, like, he's consistent at that.
Like, where is the leap of greatness?
Like, Toronto's yours.
Where's your Vinsanity moment?
Where's your Chris Bosh moment?
No, no, no.
No, what I'm saying is, where's your Vinsanity moment?
Where's your Chris Bosh moment?
Where's your DeRozan moment?
You're just there, just being like a number.
He was a replacement last year, and I know he was no real all-star. You're just there just being like a number.
He was a replacement last year.
I know he was no real all-star.
You know what he is?
He's Middleton without a Giannis.
Right?
Okay.
Can Curry be the Giannis?
If Giannis was there, is Middleton going to average 28, 29? Or is he going to go to about 23?
Yeah, yeah.
He ain't going to make that leap of just, this is my team, like what Russ did when KD
left.
KD left, boom, triple-double, triple-double, triple-double.
What's that?
MVP.
Yeah, you know what I mean? That's all I'm saying.
Like, he's a good, he's a solid player.
Solid, but he's, yeah, you put him around some other guys, you put him on, but not,
I'm not trading, I'm not making a trade for Pascal Siakam.
Especially you got a guy like DeRozan out there, Zach Levine out there, some other guys
who you can go.
I'm just solid, yeah.
But, nah.
So he's a second option?
He's a second option.
Maybe third.
Or third.
Or third.
Definitely on the right team he's a third option.
Third, okay.
Well that is our show for today.
We got some news for y'all.
We got Xavier Tillman from the Grizzlies pulling up tomorrow to talk about State of the Grizzlies.
Jock coming back home.
