Welcome back to Gilills Arena presented by
Underdog Fantasy.
Woo-woo!
Fourth of July has come and
gone. We made it through.
Back on the couch giving you your favorite
basketball show. How everybody
feeling? Good. We got the OG
crew here today.
Hey man, I'm just being honest, man. We ain't doing no four-day layovers no more. Man,
y'all ayes got to come to work. Hey, you know, you don't believe me.
Shoot, we out here in the streets like, yo, what we got to do?
I did miss y'all, I'm not gonna lie.
As I was on the beautiful beaches of Hawaii.
I was going to be on another one.
Gil, don't believe it, doesn't it?
Off day.
He's going to make us work to give you the show that you love.
But this is Gil's Arena presented by Underdog Fantasy.
As always, we've got the legend Gilbert Arenas here with us.
What's up, Gil?
What's up?
We got Mr. B, Brandon Jennings, back on the couch.
And the man that goes by many names, Cemetery Larry, Championship Charles, to name a few.
Rashawn McCants, back in the arena.
Now, if you watch the Gills Arena all-time player draft,
then you know that we've been doing NBA 2K simulations for the fans on Gil's No Chill YouTube.
Kenyon's taking on Brandon.
Kenyon currently leading that series 3-0.
Yeah.
Looking for the sweep.
Brandon, why has your team struggled so far?
And will they be the first team in NBA playoff history to overcome a 3-0 deficit?
Man, we hope so.
But the way Kobe's playing right now is out of control.
Like, I don't know what they got Kobe on on simulation, but he's just killing Mike right now. Mm. Mike's the problem. Ooh
Mike is the problem
What was that first question asked
What's happened? Why is this team? Why is this team struggling bad general manager?
Bad general it's just a bad general manager. Rule. Starts at the top. Bad general.
It's just a bad general manager.
Bad general manager.
He has the best shooting guard that ever played this game,
and he puts him at the point guard.
MJ has run the one in his life.
Mike was at the two.
He's running the two.
What offense do you have?
We have the Miami Heat one.
Miami Heat.
When they won it.
So Mike should have been playing like Dwayne.
But you got Dwayne.
I know.
Yeah, come off the bench.
And then he puts Dwayne at the three and then he won the wild. Dwayne wasn't at the three.
Ray Allen was at the three.
Shooter.
And he got all the shots, right?
Yeah, he was shooting.
He was cooking.
So that's supposed to be LeBron's spot, right?
He was cooking.
So the best player goes as the small forward.
Was a shooter.
Goes as the small forward. The best player is at the small forward. With a shooter. Goes as the small forward.
The best player is at the small forward.
Because that's LeBron James.
So that means Mike's supposed to play the three.
No, Mike is running from the fade from Cole.
That's all that's happening.
He running from the fade from Cole.
That's it.
That's all that's happening.
In that offense, option one is the small forward.
Option two is the shooting guard.
Option three is the power forward.
Okay.
So whoever's that power forward is playing like Bosh.
Okay.
Wait, wait, you have the what?
Oh, what?
2012.
What year Ron won?
Yeah, so you have Bosh as a four man.
So if you put a non- foreman in Bosch spots Brecks
Brecks
Everybody was hooping but Mike so it might be the issue
Kobe defense huh?
Kobe just destroying him like just I don't know. I don't know maybe cuz he on the cover
Yeah, extra extra attributes y man. I don't know. Maybe because he on the cover. Yeah.
It gives you extra attributes.
Y'all remember draft day, man?
Right?
You remember draft day, right?
There was one person in their draft room stressed in the mug.
Who was that?
Who was that person?
Who was pantsing back and forth, couldn't sit down for nothing.
Why would I be sitting down?
It's a draft.
Why am I sitting down? A's a draft. Why am I...
A fair assessment.
My job's on the line.
But you're down
3-0 right now. Yeah. Your job's
even more on the line.
We watched you go back and forth. We'll win game four.
Sorry, yeah. We'll win game four. They gotta get
game four, Brandon. We also
have a big game tonight. Game three.
Gil versus Rashad.
Squad is tied 1-1 right now.
Headed back to Boston, TD Garden for game three.
How are y'all feeling about y'all squads heading into game three
of the NBA 2K simulation for the Gil's Arena all-time player draft?
I'm feeling amazing.
Okay.
You know, I won game one.
You know, nice little win.
I shouldn't have changed my lineup for game two,
so I'm going back with my original.
I'm going with the death squad.
I just got to set a point right now,
so I'm going with my death squad.
Okay, letting it be known.
Sean, are you worried at all about Gil's death squad?
No, he's falling right into the trap.
Like always.
Fall right into the trap.
I got Steph Curry in there, man.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I'm glad he put him in.
Okay.
You seen that ass from right?
We will find out today at 2.15 p.m. Pacific.
Go to Gil's No Chill YouTube page to see Gil versus Rashad.
Game three in the garden.
Lakers versus Celtics.
Should be entertaining.
But here's what we got cracking in the arena today.
DeMar DeRozan is headed to Sacramento in a signing trade,
but does this make the Kings a real threat in a loaded Western Conference?
Team USA opened training camp last weekend in anticipation of the Paris Olympics,
but who is the number one option on this squad?
Ann Edwards has some thoughts.
And Steph Curry says he wants to be a warrior for life, but things change quickly in the NBA.
So what do the Warriors need to do to keep Steph happy?
But before we get into all that, as always, this show is brought to you by Underdog Fantasy.

the love and support.
We want to get to 700k before we get to Vegas. But we appreciate y'all for the love and support we want to get to 700k before we get to Vegas
we appreciate y'all tapping in with us
but obviously we got a lot to get into this show
so let's get it going we're going to start
with DeMar DeRozan
he was one of the most coveted free agents left on the market
until the Kings landed the
six time all star with a three year
74 million dollar deal
sign and trade this weekend
so as a part of the three teamteam trade, Kings are sending Harrison Barnes
and an unprotected 20-31 pick swap to the Spurs
and guard Chris Duarte, two second-round picks and cash to the Bulls.
Shout out to Rose.
He almost came home.
He's in the north, a little bit closer.
So DeRozan was in Sacramento when the deal was announced
and was met with a standing ovation as he walked onto the court
of the Golden 1 Center for the Kings California Classic Summer League game.
So Kings have been busy this offseason.
In addition to DeRozan, they traded Davion Mitchell
and other assets to the Raptors for Jalen McDaniels
and re-signed Malik Monk and Alex Lynn.
So after ending their 16-season playoff drop
by finishing third in the West in 2023,
they were ninth this season, got knocked out of the final playing spot by the Pelicans.
So now the Kings add another score to the roster and have two of the most clutch players in the league in De'Aaron Fox and DeMar.
Fox won the Clutch Award in 2023.
DeRozan finished second this season behind Steph Curry.
So DeRozan averaged 24 points, 5 assists, 4 rebounds, 79 games,
led the league in minutes per game and total points in the fourth quarter.
So Rashad, I'm going to start with you.
What will DeMar DeRozan bring to this King squad?
Mid-range?
Mid-range assassin.
Nah, he's a complete player though.
I'm not going to diminish his game.
You support him?
You know, DeMar is, as much as everybody tried to make a big deal about me,
saying he's not like a true scorer,
he's more of a complete player than he is just a one-dimensional scorer.
So you've got to give him a lot of credit when it comes to his career.
You know, he's done a lot.
He's been in a position to be the number one guy on several teams.
And I think the sack is just going to be him trying to fit into that role player role now.
Because I don't think he's going to be the main guy.
I think De'Aaron Fox is still the main guy.
I think he brings something to the table that not a lot of people bring as far as just his leadership, speed.
He can do all the things out there.
So DeMar being able to do what he does to that team,
it amplifies them.
I think he can thrive, he can push towards,
you know, a deep playoff run,
but I think they still missing something.
Still missing something.
Don't think they're done making moves yet.
If you had to say what they're missing,
what do you think that is right now?
It would have to be their fourth spot.
They helped Sabonis.
It's got to be somebody else that can come in and alleviate
their pain, because they got Malik Monk.
I don't know if he's going to start
or he's going to come off the bench.
But you know, Murray Keegan, I think
he should be more of a come off the bench guy.
Mm.
Now, he's as good as he is, but I
think if they get a good big,
him coming off the bench will be more powerful for their team.
Okay, Brandon, what do you think about Kings
making a sign and trade to bring DeMar DeRozan to the squad?
I like the move.
I mean, for Harrison Barnes, I'd do that any day.
He already, he's a proven scorer,
so he's definitely gonna bring an upside to them,
especially in that West that they need to get over the hump, I feel.
And then you've got two clutch players playing with each other, so.
But for Harrison Barnes, I mean, I'm doing that any day.
That's not even a thought.
He was probably the reason why they wasn't winning in the first place.
Yeah.
Mr. Arenas.
Man, fuck the Kings, man.
That's fair.
That's a fair assessment.
Yo, somebody said they did same-day shipping.
Like, when he was at the game,
they said they did same-day shipping.
The Amazon Prime.
That was funny.
Come on right now.
I need to call DeMar, man.
Like, don't you like big cities, bro?
You keep going to these weak-ass cities, man.
I mean, but who...
San Antonio, man.
Chicago, cold.
I mean, but...
You're going down to Hicksville.
What are the fucking cows in?
Stank, ugly city.
Like, they ranked...
No, I mean...
They ranked Latin.
I mean, no, the city is trash.
Our state capital.
They ranked number one,
and just people just being ugly over there.
No, that's a fact.
That's not a city
you want to be in.
That's some good work.
No, it ain't.
Sacramento, man,
bingo players out there.
Played in Sac.
Played bingo.
Played in Sac.
Bingo players
in Sacramento.
Nice, older work.
They rank number one
in 38 and older.
They got top 38.
Sacramento is trash.
They rank number one
in ugliest people
in America.
I don't know how that worked, but they ranked them.
Must be the dudes because the workers, right?
This is crazy.
Like, you didn't want to come home to L.A.
Nah, hell nah.
Yeah, but why would you want to come home to L.A.?
$25 million.
We just...
I don't know, but I want to play for fucking Lakers.
$5 million, man.
We see...
We probably offered him $60,000, and he was looking for $75,000.
We just needed $15 million more, man.
Russ Wynn told that man, you better not go over there.
Man, we just needed 15 more million.
Russ told that man, you should not go over there.
So you think it would be good for him to go there on the tail end of his career?
Yeah.
Why?
With all that?
It's a circus over there.
Because we need that player.
We need the clutch guy at the end of the game, last five minutes to hit those buckets.
A mid-range guy, a one-on-one guy.
Damn.
Y'all do?
No, we don't. Oh. We have a 40-on-one guy. Damn. Y'all do?
No, we don't.
Oh.
We have a 40-year-old man.
Oh, I thought he was the greatest of all time.
I thought AD and I thought, you know, I thought LeBlanc was the greatest scorer ever.
He's the greatest scorer ever.
Right.
Between the ages of 19 and about 36.
He's aging.
Oh, so he didn't have it.
I mean, just get to the 15. Get to the 15-footer.
Yeah, yeah.
It's automatic.
What's the move?
Look down and shoot.
Look down and move.
Yeah, that's close.
I mean, 40,000.
Last five minutes.
What you talking about?
I feel you.
Hey, I'm just saying.
I'm just saying.
I mean, if LeBron ain't going to sit there and let DeMar shoot clutch shots.
Hell yeah.
Watch out, man.
I'm in.
No, bro. No, he's not going to let DeMar shoot clutch shots. No, bro.
Let me try.
Yeah, too much ego.
Let me try.
LeBron do not want the whole Compton up in there
with DeMar coming down, throwing up
fast seeds and cheating games.
Get off the ball, DeMar.
Get off the ball, DeMar.
Get off it.
Too much ego.
Could have gave him a Beverly Hills house or some or Get off the ball, DeMar. Get off it. Too much ego. Swing that bitch over. Yeah, too much ego, bro.
Could have gave him a Beverly Hills house or something
or gave him another house in his area.
It's a circus, bro.
Y'all got a circus.
I don't want to admit it.
He don't want to admit it.
So, you said Sacramento ugliest women?
No, ugliest people.
Ugliest people.
I didn't write it.
Men, women.
You Googled it, right?
Everybody in between.
Babies, everything.
It says people.
Ugly babies. Everything. Babies, everything. It says people. I agree, baby.
You're going to lose everything.
That's everything under the sun.
I Googled it.
Also, Ranch is the 15th most expensive city to live in, so it's not like Sacramento is.
It's the what?
15th most expensive city.
Sacramento?
Yeah.
California?
Yeah.
Sacramento?
State capital?
There's nothing in there.
Good work.
I'm telling you, it was good work out there, man.
State capital?
It's expensive.
What's wrong with you? It's expensive. No, what's wrong with you? It's nothing. All that house shit. Good work. I'm telling you, it was good work out there. State capitol. It's expensive. What's wrong with you?
Is it expensive?
No, what's wrong with you?
It's expensive.
Good night.
No, because have you noticed the city sucks when he knows
the right words?
I'm telling you.
He'd be like, the city do something.
The city do something.
He'd be like, off the walls.
But it's number one ugliest.
So where?
They hide.
They hide.
That don't mean everybody there is ugly.
Everybody not ugly.
I'm telling you.
That just means the medium average. Yeah. That means you walk down the hide, they hide. That don't mean everybody there is ugly. Everybody not ugly, I'm telling you. That just means the medium average.
Yeah.
That means you walk down the street, you seeing.
You seeing some ugly motherfuckers.
Like 10 out of one.
You go inside the store, you be like, damn.
So like 10 out of one.
Man, bitches in here.
Man, bitches in here.
What the fuck is outside?
I ain't going outside no more.
I've never left a hotel in Sacramento, so I'm sorry.
Nah, for sure, nah.
You go in and I'm out of there.
And you'd be surprised. You'd. Hey, you'd be surprised.
You'd be like, yo.
Where?
What?
I've never left the hotel there, Memphis, Michigan, Detroit.
No way.
Because we all stayed at that same hotel in Sacramento.
Yeah, nobody leaves the hotel.
Of course, nothing in the hotel.
No, I'm going to go outside.
You have to venture.
Got to go outside, baby boy.
This man fights people.
I'm going to go ask Kevin Johnson.
Kevin Johnson?
Yeah.
He the mayor.
He the mayor?
He don't get no work.
Oh, he used to be the mayor.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah, he don't get no work.
Purveyor of fixings, a fine soul food establishment.
Gil, in all sincerity, obviously you're not happy that DeMar didn't come to Lakers.
Understandable.
But what do you think he's going to bring to this King squad?
Gil's Monday after the 4th of July.
I'm just saying, you want me to say, ooh, they're going to be real good,
they're going to be better than the Lakers?
Yeah, they are better than the Lakers.
You don't need to include the Lakers in this conversation?
They're better than the Lakers right now.
So you think DeMar matches up with Brian?
Might as well at 38.
I mean, he can take it.
He's a shooting guard.
He going to be a shooting guard?
No, he's three.
Oh, yeah.
Oh.
Yeah, Malik Monk.
They got him at the two.
No, Malik Monk comes off the bench.
Yeah, Malik Monk and Jamar ain't starting.
They have the shooter.
They have the shooter who comes.
Got him starting.
Malik Monk is not.
No, Malik Monk is starting with Jamar.
Starting lineups.
Who potential?
The coach?
Not the coach.
That's media, man.
That's media.
Same shit. Same shit. Projected. Projected starting lineups. They going to pay him. Not the coach. That's media, man. Same shit.
Projected starting lineup?
They're going to pay him. No, you got to bring Malik off.
Malik's coming off. They're going to play.
Because he defers
too much when he's with his teammate.
They run shit for him.
Yeah, when he comes off the bench.
Move Keegan Murray to the floor? What do you think they're going to do?
That's what they got to him projected at the floor.
So it's like they stretch the floor
and he's the only one that attacks.
Harrison was their slasher.
Harrison was the three-lasher, right?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Well, it was Murray.
Yeah, Murray was three-two.
Ain't nobody worried about them, man.
Move on.
Nobody's worried about them?
I put them in front of the Lakers.
Wow.
The Lakers don't...
The Lakers ain't made no moves.
They can't.
How can we even?
Y'all was what?
Ninth?
Seventh.
Ninth?
Seventh?
Yeah, barely.
Barely.
Barely.
Barely.
Barely.
Barely.
Playoff team.
Came within three.
That last game of the season put y'all in seventh.
Came within three wins.
Last game of the season.
Three wins away from advancing to the second round.
Yo, and then you're not making no moves right now?
They can't.
We made moves.
They gave the money to LeBron.
They gave all the money to LeBron.
He was going to take a $3 million pay cut.
Allow D-Lo to take his player off.
He was taking a $60 million pay cut.
He was going to take $20 million a year, right?
$20 a year.
He took about a $3 million on his two-year deal.
Wait, you said $20 a year?
Yeah, yeah. It was going to take about $20 a a year who's left in free agency. It doesn't matter nobody
We all we got we all we need
It's about to be a circus over there He bought the they just they they bought to have a word they say about to have a worse season than a Darvin hamper
PG no PG no tomorrow
No PG no tomorrow. No clay. No valid to me. No way. That's for One valid tuners trying to get him
Ever of course we didn't offer nobody's no 80 million dogs. Stop man. Stop listening to Wozian and we didn't offer him
No 80 million. We didn't offer that damn coach. No 70 million man. Y'all crazy this crazy talk
See the problem with see this is why we the Lakers, man.
You use our name to get famous.
That's what they use.
They use the Laker brand to boost up their financial status in other teams.
We do not offer these people that kind of money.
Is you crazy?
We know when you get excited.
We cheat.
You captain when you get excited.
We cheat.
We cheat, baby.
We don't get somebody. We got what's-his-name coming? Huh? We got Zach You captain, when you get excited. We cheat. We cheat, baby. We're going to get somebody.
We got a Western name coming.
Huh?
We got Zach Levine.
Oh, my God.
Oh, shit.
Oh, shit.
Oh, shit.
Oh, shit.
Oh, shit.
Oh, Zach.
Brent, aren't you
a born-again Laker fan?
No, but that's it.
No, but that's what we get.
That's what we get.
That's what he's excited about.
Oh, Zach has been a great place
I'm comes back. Oh shit. We just need one player. We're all in Shaw man. Oh logic here come here come logic
Zach Levine 19 last year 24 24 27. We good we good. We just gotta get Zach Levine and we in there
That's it. We just need a good two-man.
No, no, but in where, though?
In where?
Like, championship?
In where?
What?
Bro, who are y'all better than in the West right now?
Y'all not even top.
With Zach Levine?
You're not top.
With Zach Levine?
You're not even top four in the West.
With Zach Levine?
Yes.
You're crazy.
You're not better than Denver.
With Zach Levine, yes, we are.
You got three fights.
Yes, we are.
You're not better than Minnesota.
Denver, Denver, listen. You have three white players. Denver with Zach Levine. Yes. We are you got three. Yes, we are not better than Denver
Denver is like Denver is like a bug they won a championship
In who they not y'all not better than Memphis which I come definitely not better than that's a fact
Definitely not better than this. It was one ten games last year. No nobody's on about me. I was coming back to him
They won ten games
Was out cuz I was out both of them was out. Because Ja was out. Both of them was out.
I bet you they fit as hard
as y'all. For sure.
Memphis? For sure.
I see
what he's doing.
The Bucs ain't done nothing at all
either.
They haven't done nothing at all.
That's fair. Either.
Have the Bucs done anything that excites you in this offseason, Brent?
We just need to get healthy.
Okay.
Health is the most important.
We need to resign Thanasis.
Huh?
Yep.
Make sure you're good.
Make sure Thanasis is healthy.
Coming back.
Off the Achilles.
Okay.
We need him.
We need him next year.
What's up?
Come on.
Come on, man. We asked the chat
who's better right now
between the Lakers
and Kings.
65% said the Kings.
That's the chat, Gil.
What was the percentage again?
65%.
For sure.
We ain't got nobody
to tap me turning
on this nigga.
Bro, they could add
Zach Levine to the Lakers
and they steal the cap.
Kings still gonna be better.
For sure.
I'm fucking with that.
First of all, you don't have no guard that can guard
Darrington Fox.
You don't have no guard that can guard
DeRozan. Zach Levine.
Zach Levine. Zach Levine, we just got to match.
We got to match it.
We just have to match the production.
No, and I didn't like playing with you in Chicago.
Right in the post. Come over here.
Get over here.
Come over here.
That's why I'm the number one option over here.
And he's going to be jumping like, this is what you used to do.
Ha!
After this ACL shit you talking about?
Yeah, he still got a 45.
Yeah, half of me.
Still got a 45, man.
He's not doing that.
He's half of me.
We not doing that.
You know what he's going to hear?
Here, come front here.
What team are you going to get this year?
You still waiting.
Still waiting.
See?
No, come on. No,. See? No, come on.
No, no, no.
Come on.
I'm deliberating right now.
I'm waiting for all the teams to fan out.
How long we got?
Wait to see your approach.
In the summer league.
Wait to see your approach.
That's not fair, though.
No rush.
It is fair.
What do you mean?
I mean, he went from Miami to Boston.
All my teams went where?
To the championship.
Thank you.
Okay.
Championship Charles. This is what we do. We strategically do it. We do what we do
Let me do what I do. Okay, let me do what I do. I got a got some we're gonna make a trade anyway
So we ain't even worry about that. So we shall you chose your team Halloween this season
Their plans are wait that long you want to get the deal done early. I just lock it for the season
Okay, he picked it in Halloween
Made the announcement he was Like I said, I want to see. You can just lock in for the season? I want to see with the team. Okay. Oh, he picked it on Halloween? Mm-hmm.
Made the announcement.
He was shunning the Celtics. That's crazy, bro.
The season already started.
Yeah, I came in with Miami, though.
I came in with Miami.
But then Jimmy did.
Oh, that's illegal.
Come on, that's illegal.
Exactly.
Why didn't we pick up on that?
You cannot start the season.
I talked to the commission, and I told them that Jimmy came in with his hair shit.
And then the email.
No, the league already.
And they said, granted.
What I'm saying is when the league, the season started already.
It was before the trade done, like.
No, but the season started.
Oh, wow.
You got to have, like, moving forward, you got to have your team before training camp.
I agree.
Before training camp.
Yeah, for real. I'm going to get it done. I'm going to get it done. Training camp, we got to know your team before training camp. I agree. Before training camp. Yeah, for real.
I'm going to get it done.
Training camp, we got to know.
Come on.
I need September.
I need September to really think about this.
But back to the Kings, which was the original basis of this.
Gil, why are you so down on DeMar DeRozan?
He came closer to home.
He's back in the state of California.
Nobody's coming to L.A. on the tail end of their career.
It's suicide.
Has he been from L.A.?
When's the last time you've seen an L.A. player an LA player that's from LA play for the Lakers and they love
him?
Oh, shit.
They would love DeMar.
Probably the only one is probably Trevor Ariza.
Because he won.
And that's because he won.
Because they won.
They'd probably love him here.
Then what happened?
No, they kill every LA.
If you're an LA Hooper, bro, you get killed here.
They kill Nick, they kill Nick, they kill Russ. Hooper, bro, you get killed. You love him here, man. They killed Nick.
They killed Nick.
They killed Russ.
Come on, bro.
Like, that's weak.
No, if I'm an L.A. Hooper, I'm not coming to the Lakers.
I mean, Clipper fans loved Baron Davis when he came back.
Coming to the Lakers.
Man, you know how...
Man, listen, first of all, it's easier to put on a Clipper uniform than a Laker uniform.
He can wear his Clipper uniform under.
He wear a Clipper shirt under and then wear the Lakers over.
Who?
The Rosen. make him feel comfortable
It's over with like he goes to he goes to Sacramento bro, that's this that's ugly
That just means how nasty it is. The Lakers don't like LA Hoopers. It's nasty
Y'all that Trevor want to ring with them. They traded him the next y'all let the Cleveland nigga come in here and put the toxic shit
All in the water. He gave us a ring
You won't miss he gave us a ring you gave us a ring to y'all y'all can even get a parade the government gave y'all a
Rain that was Medicare. Oh
Who gave the Medicare gift from the government? It's a I'm rolling. It's all roll it out here
I'm rolling roll this shit out anyway the Brian come on. Get your I'm rolling together. I'm rolling
This is the only window we got cuz to roll this shit out of the way. LeBron, come on. Get your fucking friends together. I'm rolling. I'm rolling. This is the only window we got.
Because he's the healthiest out of everybody, isn't he?
It's the only window we got.
Spending a million dollars on your body.
His immune system is strong.
He's the only...
This is the only chance we got.
We're not going to get nothing after this, so we got to take advantage.
Hey, I'm going to be honest.
How long has it been?
It's been four years?
Hey, I'm going to be honest.
I'm done.
No, I'm done with the Lakers.
You've got to be.
Yeah, because...
Yeah, yeah.
You've got to be. I'm ready to start killing you. You've got to be. Hey, yo, bro. Hey, hey'll be honest. I'm done. No, I'm done with the Lakers. You gotta be yeah. Yeah
Hey, yo, bro, hey, bro, we're killing these niggas
All year all year Malika, fuck him! Damn.
Yeah, this is your show.
Hey, it's going to be dark for you this year.
Dark!
It's already dark because you know they're not going to make no moves.
We are.
We always make moves.
We don't make moves.
No, we don't.
We're going to talk Lakers later in the show.
I think our problem is, I think our real problem, I think our real problem is this.
We need our parade.
Never got it.
Like, I'm serious.
Did not get it.
You were looking forward for that.
No, no, what I'm saying is,
you, like...
That's a fact.
We need our parade.
Like, we need to celebrate what we did.
The fact that we're the only team that did not celebrate after a championship
Makes our championship feels invalid. Yeah, right. We need the power. We need to soon as preseason start
Parade, you know what fucking soon as Boston Celtics come in here parade
To the airport they can't even come to the game shut all that shit down
Parade get our team energy like they're part of this championship get come to the game. Shut all that shit down. Parade.
Get our team energy like they're part of this championship.
Get right to the season.
Yeah, but it's only one player that's part of it.
Wait, two players.
I don't give a fuck.
It's only two of them that be out there.
Bring everybody else back.
Them two, they got the front car.
The rest of them get to watch what a championship player looks like.
Then they might entice them to be like him.
This is crazy.
An interesting time.
Did we even get rings?
Did we get rings?
Him and AD.
Ron and AD.
That's it.
It's been us the whole time.
What else do you need?
Just us two.
What else do you need?
Just the two of us.
No, but I do agree with this.
I mean, it's like unfinished business.
Like, y'all ain't finished.
I don't even know how they let this slide, though.
Just the two of us.
You and I.
You and I.
You and I. You and I. You and. Like, y'all ain't finished.
I don't even know how they let that slide.
Just the two of us.
You and I.
No, but now I'm offended.
Now I'm really offended that we didn't have one,
because during COVID, Black Lives Matter had parades
all through every city.
Yes.
They had one here. They had one here.
I wouldn't call it a parade, but...
They had one in Melrose.
A thousand people was out there.
That might have been y'all parade, though.
That might have been the parade.
I would have went if it looked like it was purple and gold.
A little different than a parade, Gil.
A little bit different than a parade.
It was different.
They had the riot police out there.
Yeah, this is me in an ugly suit.
Ladies and gentlemen, this is Gil Zerina presented by Underdog Fantasy.
I'm here to talk about the show.
I'm here to talk about the show.
I'm here to talk about the show.
I'm here to talk about the show.
I'm here to talk about the show.
I'm here to talk about the show.
I'm here to talk about the show.
I'm here to talk about the show. I'm here to talk about the show. I'm here to talk about the show. I'm here to talk about the, right? They had to write police out there. Like, yeah, this is gonna get ugly sued.
Mm-hmm.
Ladies and gentlemen, this is Gil Zerina,
presented by Underdog Fantasy.
Yeah.
They owe us.
Oh, they owe us.
I know. I agree with that.
Like a weekend party, something in the arena.
Who don't like a parade?
Do something, man.
Who don't like a parade?
Do something.
This is crazy.
But again, back to the Kings, hopefully.
We can stay on course.
Ooh, the Kings. Ooh, the Kings got we can stay on course just fool the Kings who the keys got the Rosa smoke
Like the beat like the beam like the beam
Like the bike the beam
They spent 75 million dollars to come in seven place cool. That was gonna be my next question is a heaven
Does adding to run I'm gonna start
Okay That was going to be my next question. Seventh. Does adding DeRozan... Seventh. I'm going to start. Okay.
Can he ask?
With Rashad and Brandon first,
does adding DeRozan make the Kings a legit threat in the West?
Yes.
You feel that it does?
Yes.
In this loaded Western Conference?
Loaded.
It makes them a stronger team.
The Kings have been, in the last three years, what, top five?
So, top three, 2023.
Finished ninth this past season.
Got knocked out by the Pelicans in the play-in.
Did not make the playoffs.
Did beat the Warriors, though.
Just this year, though.
They went down.
This year, they did beat the Warriors in the play-in.
But a threat like what, though?
Like finals?
Like...
Just a...
Like I said, a deep playoff run.
Top four, top five team in the West?
They can win a series.
Top five in...
They top five in the West?
No.
Right now? No. Right now?
No.
Clippers just broke up.
You got Denver, Dallas.
OKC.
OKC.
Memphis.
You can't say Memphis.
I'm saying Memphis.
Can't.
I'm saying Houston.
Can't.
I think Houston's going to be better.
You can say Phoenix four.
I'm going to say Houston's going to be better.
Timberwolves.
Timberwolves five.
Houston.
Yeah, Houston.
Timberwolves five.
Houston was over 500 last year.
So we're looking at six, 7, and 8.
6, 7, and 8 between Sac, Lakers, and maybe Memphis.
If John's healthy, they're tough.
And then that's not even saying Golden State.
You got Golden State, you got Pelicans, you got DeJounte Murray.
You got Golden State.
Golden State who?
Who?
Isn't that?
No.
No.
30 can't get it done?
It's not about, I mean, who they got.
Who y'all got as number one team?
We didn't say number one. We just picked...
I got OKC.
Like, the top five teams.
You got Thunder Nuggets.
Thunder Nuggets, OKC, T-Wolves, and Dallas.
Top five.
We can get into it Phoenix
Phoenix sack
Yeah, so yeah, so eight so around around the same thing like that should be the same as a golden state
Yeah, he spent 75 he spent 75 million
For seven days spot. I'm gonna be the Lakers man. They're not no they're not no they better than the Lakers man. They not no threat. They better than the Lakers, but they not no threat.
Like, oh, they about to hit the Western Conference.
No.
I don't see them hitting the Western Conference finals.
But they'll get out the first round.
They can get out of the first round.
I don't know.
They can be a top four team in the Western Conference.
Denver lost KCC.
Denver's no different than what they did.
They won their championship.
They've been declining ever since.
With the books.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Brought back that same starter five.
They're going to be about...
Why everything got to be compared to the Bucs?
Five, six.
Because y'all the same thing.
Y'all kept thinking your team was that nice to keep the same...
Okay, what has the Lakers been since the championship?
Nothing.
Nothing.
You guys been nothing.
We're selling jerseys, dog.
Since COVID.
We're selling jerseys, dog.
Since COVID, y'all...
We're selling jerseys.
Since COVID, it's been downhill.
What does that mean?
The same two niggas been selling the same jerseys. We got a third. We're not selling're selling jerseys. Since COVID, it's been downhill. What does that mean? The same two niggas have been selling the same jerseys.
We got a third now.
We got James and James Jr.
Since COVID, it's been downhill.
Four wins away from reaching the finals in 2023.
James and James Jr. selling jerseys.
We making money over there.
That's what you're doing, putting on a show?
Yeah.
Ain't winning no championships, though.
It's a circus.
It's a circus.
Circuses are enjoyable. No, no, for sure. I mean, that's what we got. No, it's definitely going to be though. It's a circus. It's a circus. Circuses are enjoyable.
No, no, for sure.
I mean, that's what we got.
It's definitely going to be entertaining.
I can't wait.
We're going to be on this couch clowning y'all all year.
That's what I got JJ for.
JJ!
Mind the Game podcast.
Shoot the J!
I can't wait.
So, talk a little.
De'Aaron Fox, eligible for an extension this summer.
According to reports, he's waiting to see how the Kings shape the roster for the long haul.
Can sign for even more bread next summer if he makes another All-NBA team.
Will DeRozan be enough to get De'Aaron Fox to commit to the Kings for the long term?
As much as you love the Kings, Gil.
It's the summertime, all right?
We're trying to make a stretch.
Financially, man, he has to stay there right now.
He has to sign that long deal,
and then from there he can ask for a trade
like every other smart businessman.
So, I'm pretty sure he's going to go through the season
and see if he makes the All-NBA, because the All-NBA bumps him up into another category.
The bread does improve.
And I can just tell him, you know, that ain't gonna happen.
I still think like Rashad said, though.
No.
You don't think De'Aaron Fox can make an All-NBA team?
This year?
This year.
With this squad.
When you got another scorer that's gonna take away from your score.
Nah. And your franchise can afford for you to make an all-NBA team
to pay you a super max contract, then pay Sabonis at some point.
Financially, it is a capped city, so therefore...
But if you had to pick between one or the other,
you're going to have to pay one or the other.
Regardless.
Because the Sabonis can make all NBA.
What's better than a well-marbled ribeye sizzling on the barbecue?

So bonus is actually under 28.
Yeah, so he's at 28, right?
Yeah, so if he gets All-NBA before that...
So he can...
I don't think he can get an extension
until next...
Or two summers, 2026.
Two summers.
Yeah.
Yeah, so...
He's good for a minute.
Yeah, so they're not gonna...
De'Aaron's got two years left on his deal this year,
and the next year he's making $37 million, so...
I don't think All-NBA...
I'm talking about financially set.
If you're the owner, you're not having that man make all NBA.
It's not in your best interest.
But how do you stop him from doing that?
Same way Philadelphia did.
You vote.
You vote.
There you go.
But if he playing real, if he playing, you can't not vote him. Yeah, like what if they like winning, and they like top three or they like...
If he do what Shay did.
Average to 30, get his team to second, third.
Yeah, yeah.
That's a different conversation.
Hey, Jaden Brown got screwed, right?
On 17 games? That's a different conversation? All right. Hey, Jaden Brown got screwed, right?
All 17 games?
Won 17 games above, you know, 17 games in front of the next best team.
No All-NBA?
Trust me.
But he's the only one on his team.
It's like if you give it to De'Aaron Fox, he's going to be the only guy on his team. It's like Boston got two guys that you potentially had to put in the All-NBA.
Didn't Sabonis make it this year?
All defense, I think.
No, I think he made it.
I think he made 13.
He might have.
13, he did.
Yeah.
So they'd rather give him that.
You know we're out of it, Gil.
So even if they're balling, it's better financially to keep giving it to Sabonis
because he's not up.
Yes, he is.
Right, right, right.
That's what I was thinking.
If they were up at the same time, you're going to have to give it to somebody.
But that's the bad part about smart markets, right?
That's the bad thing about smart markets is you're playing more of a business game.
And you have to think, like, how can they screw me?
How can they get, like, you have to play the game as they do not want to pay me this.
Because me not signing helps them out.
Right?
You know, if he's paying, if he's making super max, Sabonis is on the max.
Damier DeRozan is on his deal.
Then you got Keegan Murray.
You got so much money.
That franchise can't afford that.
But at what point does it translate into
we're trying to win?
As long as you don't sign the Supermax,
I can keep getting this team better.
And isn't that better?
If he doesn't make the Supermax?
Or De'Aaron Fox.
If the team gets better for them to get in a better
position for him to be seen to be
a top all-NBA guy.
If they're ninth,
finishing ninth,
and getting pushed out the playoffs,
it doesn't look like you're an all-NBA player to me.
Right?
So if they're winning and they finish the season
and end playoffs at second or third position,
and you're looking at him and he took less money.
Which they did in 2023 and you made an all-NBA team.
Right, he took less money. Da-da-da-da- an all-NBA team. Right, he'd take less money.
Da-da-da-da-da.
Team gets better and they're winning.
Wouldn't that be better for both sides?
Like the owner,
he's not tripping
because he used that money
to make the team better.
He took less.
You know what I'm saying?
So now I get to be seen
as an MVP candidate.
Supermax and Max
is such a big gap that once you sign a Supermax and max is such a big gap
that once you sign a supermax,
remember, money after that,
a max or money after that is on top of what you already are.
If you don't sign a supermax now, you sign a max,
your supermax number changes.
Mm-hmm. So do he change teams now
because he's not gonna be able to qualify for it?
No, he's still got to sign
that one big deal.
He needs that big deal. That's what I'm saying, but you're saying
that he can't get all NBA with a new
guy like DeRozan on his team.
I think he can.
If that's the case, if he can't get
all NBA and solidify Super
Max because this new piece just came
that can put them in position to win,
right? Why wouldn't you go somewhere
else if you were looking to get that?
Supermax. What I'm saying is
what other teams can he go and be dominant?
You got to think about just
statistical.
His numbers, statistical
as a guard, won't be better
than Shays or Lucas.
Not going to be better than Kirby's.
Right?
Probably won't be.
He'll probably be right there with Ja.
Statistically, as far as across the board?
Across the board.
Across the board.
He's going to be at 24, 25, 26, maybe.
Right?
With DeRozan.
This year, with DeRozan.
With DeRozan, he's going to be sitting around 24, 25, 26.
I think DeRozan's going to be in the 30s.
So last season, DeRozan and Fox were the highest fourth quarter scoring
just in terms of total points, in terms of points per game,
averaging the fourth.
De'Aaron Fox was fourth.
DeRozan was sixth.
So both want the ball in crunch time.
I'm not worried about it.
I'm just talking about De'Aaron Fox as a guard.
You're talking about guards.
His statistical knowledge.
So you're talking about Luca and the shit he's doing.
Then you got Shea.
Then you got Curry, right?
Right there, you got those three just in the West.
Then you got to go Brunson, right?
You got Brunson over there.
You're going to have Dame over there, right?
So it is really going to be hard.
Even with winning, it's going to be hard for him to make all NBA
because Sabonis is going to have the triple doubles, the double doubles,
because now he has another person to pass it to with DeMar.
Right.
So I think his assists are going to be.
So when they're winning, it's going to be Sabonis who looks a lot better
because he's going to have the 20, 10, and 8 look.
So Darren Fox averaged 27, 5 rebounds, 6 assists last year, 2 steals.
Those assists are going up this year.
Hey, that's a lot.
That's what I'm saying.
That's a lot, bro.
That's a lot.
Those are MVP numbers, bro.
That's a lot.
Yeah, those are MVP numbers.
For a point guard in the West.
In certain seasons.
That's a lot, bro. Yeah. And that's a point guard in the West. In certain seasons. That's a lot, bro.
And that's impressive.
I thought it was going to be 25 or 24.
That's what I said.
This year is going to be like 25 or 24.
I think.
27 and he didn't get close to it.
I think his scoring goes up more, though, this year.
I think DeRozan's going down a little bit.
It's going to open the floor for him.
It opens the floor.
Yeah, I think DeRozan is going to get a lot of his in the fourth.
But I think throughout the game, Darrington is going to like.
He's going to be at 25 going like he's gonna be at 25
You're gonna be a 25 a game. He could go to 30
I'm about to say he could go to 30
I would go that little lefty is fast cuz if think about it if they're loading up on me because we don't got pieces you
Respect it's gonna hurt. It's gonna hurt me in the law and I'm still getting 27 now
I got pieces that make you stretch all the way to fuck out 27 27 what six and five and didn't make it
27 I mean was in a night here before what was this year before stats? I think it was a bonus made in one second
So bonus made it in the ninth spot
But it was too much competition on the West for four no
It's just for the door doesn't say what the, the 27-7-6 is cool for a guard,
but going against the other guards for that 1-2-3 spot.
You're talking about a guy who averaged 34-9-9.
You're talking about Shea and his numbers.
Now you've got Brunson over there.
Then you've got Hallenburton over there.
So he's competing.
Maxie.
You got Ja back in the mix now this season.
If he didn't get Curry, he might average damn near 31 this year.
So in 2023, the year that he made third-team All-NBA,
Darren Fox averaged 25 points, four rebounds, six assists.
But on the third seed in the West versus the numbers he averaged 25 points, four rebounds, six assists. But on the third seed
in the West versus the numbers he averaged
last year, 27-5.
He's going to have to be
top five
at least. Top five, top six.
Or did he get two people in?
DeMar will sacrifice. Obviously, DeMar's not going to average
that 24 game like he did with the Bulls coming
in with the case he made.
Is he going to sacrifice his scoring to get in where he fits in?
18 to 20.
What was Brunson's numbers?
26?
It was like 28, I think.
28?
Damn it, 30, right?
So Brunson was second team, all NBA, almost at like 28 a game.
Steph stepped in.
28, 7, 4.
Steph stepped in with what, 29 a game?
Shit, 29, 7, 4. Remember, I have 28.7 points per game, Jalen Brunson. And Steph was at like what, 29 a game? Shit, 29, 7, 4.
Remember, I have 28.7 points per game, Jalen Brunson.
And Steph was at like 29, right?
30?
Steph at 26.
26?
Ooh.
So you got Steph, Halliburton, and Booker, third team.
Yep.
De'Aaron Fox can easily take any one of them spots
based on, like you said, votes.
Paying for votes.
Somebody want to pay for it. But his numbers ain't even better than none of them yet. Yeah, like you said, votes. Paying for votes. Somebody want to pay for it.
But his numbers ain't even better than none of them yet.
Yeah, they are.
He's 27, 6-6.
And what was Booker?
27, 8-8.
Tyrese was lower and Steps was lower.
Steps was 26.
So it's a good argument for those three spots.
And if it's three spots you're arguing against,
I mean, I'm putting him in front of Tyrese Halliburton for sure so it really just depends on how the kings perform
in this western conference if they're in that upper echelon but they do have a regular season
squad as constructed that could replicate that third place finish that they had in 2023 so we
asked to chat are the kings a threat in the west almost Almost 4,000 votes. 54% say no.
But 46% think they will be, so.
That's the silver lining situation.
But let's keep this thing moving.
So Paul George did his first podcast piece show since joining the Sixers,
wearing his new number eight jersey to honor Kobe,
and breaking down the factors which led to him leaving the Clippers.
So according to PG, the Clippers came to him last October
with a two-year, $60 million extension offer that he felt was disrespectful.
So after Kawhi got his extension in January, PG asked the Clippers for a similar deal,
but they were unwilling to give him one, and negotiations stalled around the All-Star break.
Negotiations picked back up after the Clippers were eliminated from the playoffs and went like this.
Season end, I finished healthy.
74 games played and
had one of my most efficient seasons.
So now we're going to
negotiations.
Now they bring it
to three years.
Where we at? 150.
Alright. That's cool. It sucks that it had to get to this point like
that they couldn't we couldn't get this figured out a lot sooner but now we at the end of the
year three years 150 so i'm i'm i'm like all right like now we're in we're in a ballpark you know i
mean now now we can have conversation here i presented the three 150 no trade because in the meeting they're like you
know we want you here long term. We want to you know when you're retired we want you to be a
Clippers for a lifetime like all of this stuff. So I'm like cool cool give me the three years 150
no trade then like no trade clause. Then I'm not like like, I'm taking less, but at least I know I'm here. Like, I'm committed to y'all.
Like, they didn't want to do the no trade.
They didn't want to do that?
Wow.
So then now I'm like, all right, well, then it only makes sense for me to do four years to 12.
Right?
Like, at least pay me my money.
If y'all going to trade me, then y'all going to trade me.
But at least, like, now I'm not in a situation where I could have got more Had I just gone a free agency
Didn't take this deal and y'all could just ship me wherever I wanted and now I'm on this deal that I didn't want
so
They didn't want to do that
So now I was like now like now I'm I'm open to entertaining was what's out there
So should be noted that Kawhi didn't have a no trade clause in his three year extension.
He had it? No trade?
No, he didn't have it. Oh, okay.
So PG said he wanted the same deal as Kawhi.
I think they gave him the same deal as Kawhi
but I want a no trade clause in there as well.
That was kind of the hiccup
in the situation. But did the Clippers fumble
the PG re-signing
or was he asking for too much?
I'm just trying to understand the
no trade clause thing.
Like,
who do some of these
players think they are?
Smart.
I mean,
you can think you're smart
but your game
ain't showing that
you have that
opportunity.
Hey,
bro,
I'm sorry,
certain players
shouldn't be asking
for a no trade clause. I'm sorry. Do you feel like Paul George is one of those players players shouldn't be asking for a no-trade clause.
I'm sorry.
Do you feel like Paul George is one of those players
who shouldn't be asking for a no-trade clause?
No, he shouldn't.
No.
Great player, but...
What have you done for me lately?
Yeah, like, what have you done to be like,
you know what, nah, I'm going to make sure that you,
yeah, you can make the decision.
No, you ain't bringing in no ring.
We ain't successful, nothing.
No, bro.
No, that shit is whack.
74 games.
Y'all even know what the no trade clause means?
That you can't trade me without me agreeing.
Exactly.
So no, no. I'm not listening.
If I want to get your ass out of here and you ain't doing nothing,
get your ass out of here.
Thanks, bro.
We ain't winning.
We're not even winning.
As a player, why would you be
in a big city and give a team leverage to send your ass to Minnesota, Milwaukee, Detroit?
Because I already gave you.
I'm talking about your brand.
You are a main player, your name is a star, why would you let them put you in a city like OKC?
You're done.
I'm not doing anything here.
First of all, I'm not talking, you're talking about basketball.
Exactly.
You're not selling your brand in OKC.
Well, I should have been doing my job first.
It don't matter. Basketball come
first, right? I'm not doing my
job here. It's time for me to go. They don't
want me no more. I'm not cooking up
like that. You don't want me no more? Okay, cool.
But this is where I want to go.
I don't have that
leverage. Yeah, you do. You. I don't have that leverage.
Yeah, you do.
You put no trade calls as your leverage.
Asked for a superstar.
That's a star.
It's called a smart business man.
No, that's a star.
No, you're a star.
You're not a superstar.
You're a star.
Smart business.
No, you're a fucking star.
Smart business.
You're not a superstar, nigga.
It's called a smart business.
No, you're not.
These niggas think
they're superstars.
A lot of these niggas are stars.
He getting no trade?
He's in the big city.
He didn't get the no trade in Philly.
He's the big city.
What is the difference?
Smart businessman.
No, if he signed in Philly,
That's how you guys are not thinking about it.
And I'm a businessman, too.
You ain't done shit.
Get on.
The hell?
No, but in Philly,
I'm a businessman, too.
And he got on.
Okay.
If I'm not giving you no trade clause,
you can take your brand and go on.
We trying to do something different than win. It ain't working with here. And there you want me to give you this money and not giving you no trade clause. You can take your brand and go on. We trying to do something different than win.
It ain't working with here.
And now you want me to give you this money
and give you a no trade clause when I ain't get Kawhi won?
So basically, it's like, come on, bro.
What?
Like, man.
Three years, one-fifth with a no trade clause.
Or if y'all don't want to do the no trade,
give me four years, 212.
Give me 212.
Then you train wherever the fuck you want.
You know what they said?
It ain't worth it.
Okay.
That's fine. That's all I'm saying. That too.
That too. That first.
Every player don't have that leverage, bro.
These guys
aren't superstars, though.
They're stars and they're superstars.
You're not Steph Curry. You're not
Kevin Durant. You're not LeBron James.
These guys just asking for no trade
clause. You're not on that level. First of not LeBron James. Who? These guys just asking for no trade clause. You're not on that level.
First of all, that's not...
The leverage is if you're gonna lose me and get nothing...
Yeah, yeah.
...or you give me what I want.
So I'll give you two options.
But they was cool with him walking.
What I'm saying is I give you two...
They was cool with him walking.
No.
You're not worth it.
They didn't know he was walking.
They... it don't matter now,
because they like, we still got Kawhi.
We cool.
We don't really need you like that.
I'm just talking about logistics, dog.
Logistics.
Logistics say, if I know you can't afford to lose me because you get nothing, I'm a free agent.
That means if I leave, you get nothing for me, which hurts a franchise.
So either give me what Kawhi got, right?
I'll take that money right there.
Throw this in.
But no trade clause.
That's a no?
Okay.
Then give me four-year 212.
And you can trade me wherever you want.
And that's a no because that wasn't on the table to begin with. Okay.
So you're changing the terms based on you asking to get what Kawhi got.
Yeah, that's three years.
And then you want something that he didn't get.
Yes.
No.
No.
Or go give me just my four years.
Or you can take your ass to fight.
Okay, so I took 212.
They was cool with that.
Yes, and we're cool with that.
Because they didn't want to give him that based on the terms of him asking,
give me what Kawhi got.
No, give me what Kawhi got, but I want no trade costs.
And that's different. That's a whole different contract. That's all I'm saying what Kawhi got, but I want no trade costs. And that's different.
That's a whole different contract. That's a whole
different, and you ain't, and he's better.
They think he's better. I'm not
saying he's better, but they think we're going to
keep him. Is Paul George smart
for asking what he did, or is Kawhi dumb
for not putting it in his contract?
I mean, Kawhi ain't going nowhere, so it don't matter.
Which one is it?
Who got the guarantee? Because if Kawhi... Somebody must have got the it don't matter. Which one is it? Who got the guarantee?
Because if Kawhi...
Somebody must have got the guarantee.
Who?
One of...
I mean, Kawhi...
Kawhi's deal got done in January.
It must have been a guarantee.
It got to be some kind of...
No, what I'm saying is...
I'm pretty sure he asked for no trade calls, too.
Why would you not ask for?
But if he didn't...
We don't know.
If he didn't...
He didn't get it.
If he didn't get it.
He's just like, let's do the deal.
Fuck it.
Let's do it.
Let's go.
Let's go.
But he more safe than people, though.
So the question is, who's smarter?
The guy who asked for it?
I mean, you can ask for it.
You didn't get it.
So it don't matter.
I got 212.
What did he say?
Give me 212 and you can trade me wherever you want.
He got 212.
So he won.
But that wasn't what he wanted. He didn't. That's not what he wanted to get you. No, he didn't. No me wherever you want. He got 212. So he won. But that wasn't what he wanted.
Exactly.
That's not what he wanted to do.
He did.
No, he didn't.
He wanted to stay in L.A. for his career.
Yes, he did.
I gave you two options.
My two options is give me Kawhi's deal with a no-trade clause or give me four years 212.
Those are the two things that I'm asking for. I got one, right?
Okay, we'll go get your right
Yes
I can't say the organization ain't lawyer and all this other today when you say
This I want this or give me this and they say we're not we can't give you this and we're not gonna give you this
It's gonna go there. So now you have to say is somebody else is gonna give me that over here
But I'm gonna I going to go over here.
But I no longer.
They're banking on that he was going to just stay home.
It didn't work.
Take the same deal Kawhi got.
That's what we was banking on because that's what you asked for.
They thought it was a slap in the face, the fact that he even asked for that.
That's what it was.
Then you want to ask me for $212,000.
Go on.
Remember what he said.
I'm telling you, it was a slap in the face.
Two for $60,000. Two for $60,000. He's like'm telling you, it was a slap in the face. Two for 60.
Two for 60.
He's like,
yo, you're slapping me
in the face right now.
That was coming off
of 2023.
He didn't play in the playoffs.
Numbers game type shit.
So then he gets to 50 a year.
Three year 150.
Yeah.
All right, now we talking.
I feel good now.
Okay, this is like
the Kawhi deal.
Give me the same deal and we good, but throw
this in there. Nah, fuck that.
We done came too far already. We
started here at fucking two-year
60, nigga. We at three-year
150. You want more?
Bro, listen, he got his money. Congratulations. But that
no-trade-clause stuff for some of these players,
they got to stop asking for that. So, Brandon, to your point,
according to The Athletic, only 10 NBA players
in history had a true no-trade clause. I'll read those to the players. Bradley, no-trade? that. So, Brandon, to your point, according to The Athletic, only 10 NBA players in history had a true no-trade clause.
I'll read those to the players.
They gave Bradley a no-trade?
Yeah.
So, Bill's the last one.
But what?
You got David.
He out of there after this.
After this, he's out of there.
This is what I'm saying.
This is what I'm saying.
And as an owner, I have to slap you in the face.
You want me to give you a no-trade clause?
After that?
After that?
Come on.
Hell no.
Hell no. Hell no.
What did you get, 280?
You got 280 something?
So you guys are saying if you was the player,
you wouldn't even ask for it.
If I'm not like that,
if I'm not a superstar like that,
shit, if I ain't like that,
everybody in the NBA know their status.
You get it?
Like, you're doing a whole lot.
You're doing a whole lot.
Why you can't ask for it?
But I mean, what he's saying is that
your play, your performance, everything got to
line up for that. I understand exactly
what you're saying, but look at PG and his situation.
I can opt out of this last year. I can become a
free agent. Give me this no trade
clause or I'm going to walk and y'all don't get shit. Okay, you walk
and you got your money. Cool. Congratulations. But I'm not
giving you that no trade clause. But I'm just from a...
We need to give our best player that. Oh, no.
What was Kawhi Leonard? He was all NBA?
Your best player didn't ask for it. Kawhi Leonard
all NBA? Three for 152.
Let me see. Second team. Okay, how about this?
How about this? Right now. And an Olympian.
Right now. And an Olympian. Right now, when
when
Wimby's rookie deal is up, and he says, I want a no-trade clause,
y'all going to give it to him or not?
His number's going to be up.
It don't matter.
Are you going to give it to Wimby or not?
Yes.
Okay.
There we go.
Yep, Wimby's better than Paul George and Bradley Bill.
That's for that.
According to The Athletic, only 10 players in history have had a true no-trade clause in their contract. I'm going to read
those players' names for you. David Robinson,
John Stockton, Kobe Bryant, Tim Duncan,
Kevin Garnett, Dirk, Dwyane Wade,
LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony,
and Bradley Bill.
Say the names before Bradley
Bill. David Robinson,
John Stockton, Kobe Bryant, Tim Duncan,
Kevin Garnett, Dirk Nowitzki, Dwyane Wade, LeBron
James, Carmelo Anthony.
And what's wrong with Bradley Bill?
And then Bradley Bill.
He's on that tier to be asking for a no-trade clause?
He's on that tier of players?
Be honest, Gil.
Paul George is on that top tier of players to ask for a no-trade clause?
Gilbert's name should be on there.
Should be on there. Should be on there.
So, when Bradley Bill asked for that no trade clause,
he averaged 35-5, 6-4.
Then the following year, he averaged 31-4-4 and asked for no trade clause.
Was he all NBA?
Yes, he was all NBA.
Hey, what was his team ranked?
It don't matter.
No, no, no. It does matter. It does ranked? It don't matter. No, no, no.
It does matter.
It does matter.
It don't matter.
Are you winning or no?
Are you winning or no?
It does matter.
What was this team?
Are we winning or not?
Everybody I just named, they do both.
They win and they appear.
When they asked for it?
Yes.
When they asked for it.
You got to think about the circumstances, dog.
Was he winning?
No.
Okay, so not that.
You got to ask about the circumstances.
Those are the circumstances. The circumstances are we winning? No. Okay, so not that. You got to ask about the circumstances. Those are the circumstances.
The circumstances
are we winning.
Let me hear that.
Let's paint the picture.
John Wall is down, right?
He's hurt.
The star player is out.
I'm the number two guy.
I averaged 30, then 31.
I become the franchise player now.
You did not. I might, might, might. You averaged 35. Wait, did you average 35? He averaged 30, then 31. I become the franchise player now. You did not. I might, might, might.
You said 35. Wait, did he average 35?
He averaged 30, then 31. Let the
league in scoring. 35 and 5. He let the league in
scoring. Okay, okay. He let the league in scoring
I think that year. He's a free
agent then. Which means
who has all the power?
Your number one guy is out.
I'm the new franchise guy. I have
all the power. I'm a free agent
This is my terms. Okay, what you're gonna do you can get this money, but you're not getting this trade
No, or then go walking walk and that's fine. And that's fine. And that's the money what they do with nothing
They traded is that right two years later a freighted?
Am I getting traded?
I shouldn't even be getting traded.
It don't matter.
I can now say where I want to go if you no longer want me.
But I know you don't have the leverage now.
You're forgetting about the leverage.
I have the leverage as a player.
He's gone.
Your man, the man is hurt.
I'm the new guy.
My contract is up.
What are we talking about here? I want the max. Yeah, okay. You got one the max. I want no trade clause motherfucker
If I want a fish tank in my floor, we'll do that get it there
But that no trade I'm telling you what I want or I'm walking I leave you have me gone you get nothing for see
That's the difference when I'm a free agent you get nothing for me. You get nothing back. You get nothing for it. See, that's the difference. When I'm a free agent, you get nothing for me.
You get nothing back.
You lose a whole man.
This is not a sign and trade.
But I have money, though.
This is gone.
Like when Kawhi left Toronto?
Look how it messed up the franchise.
They got nothing for him.
He bounced.
This is not a sign and trade.
Like, if they would have signed him and then traded him with the Clippers,
they probably could have got, like, a Lou Williams and a Trez back for him.
They lose.
You get nothing for the guy.
So the Clippers, he left.
What do you get?
You get nothing.
Now you're sitting there in free agent trying to make that money back up.
Yeah, you got a lot of money, but what did you get?
You got nothing because you can't use it.
We didn't because we didn't.
You can't use it.
We still have superstars.
We still got what we got.
We still got stars.
He's willing to let that go. What place got what we got. We still got stars. He's willing to let that go.
What place was Clippers in?
We still got stars.
Fourth, I believe.
Fourth, right?
With Paul George averaging what?
23, I believe.
23.
23.
Now he walked.
Now he walked.
There's no replacement for him.
So where does that put your team?
You think you're fifth?
So, Paul George, 23-5 rebounds, four assists.
You got nothing.
Let's go back to the draft.
We got James Harden.
We had him last year.
We had him last year.
No, no, no, but we had somebody in the way.
We had him last year.
30-point-a-night guy, and we had him.
I had him last year.
But James was going to become a free agent.
You now can use some of that money that PG left on the table.
No, no, they did pay James.
Got Derrick Jones Jr. as well from the Mavs.
Who did you get for Paul George?
You're losing 23 points a game.
Like, if this happened at the beginning, if this was the first thing that happened,
now you can backtrack.
Okay, let's go get Clay and get some.
This is, you wasn't expecting him to leave. You thought you had time
to negotiate. I think they
just felt like, man, we don't care. What are you gonna
do? Exactly. We don't care.
We'll go back to the draft. We give him.
Where you got Clippers at?
We don't know. They ain't finished yet.
I guarantee you right now they're mad.
I guarantee you they're mad
that the other two they signed
for guaranteed contracts.
Because now it's basically blown up.
The glass is not fully blown, but you cracked it.
You're missing it.
Not really.
Because the two guys he wanted, he kept.
I mean, you keep hardening Kowalski.
Russ still there?
The two guys and Russ is still there.
Russ probably going to get blown up.
You remember they thought it was about trading him.
They can't do that now.
Trading who?
Remember,
they was talking about
trading Russ, right?
I think they're still
talking about that.
Shit.
That's why we can,
Russ want to stay home anyway.
He's going to resign.
We still got,
we still got superstar players.
Russ opted in to,
opted in.
His deal,
four million.
Oh yeah.
Don't know why.
Four million?
Yeah.
He good.
He good.
But there's, they got three. They got three of the guys. You know the best one. Now I know why. Four billion? Yeah. He good. He good. But they got three.
They got three of the guys.
You know the best one.
Now, I know.
I guarantee you Russ is mad right now.
Because PG left all that money he's left.
If he was a free agent, oh, you got to pay me now.
See, this is chess.
He's not thinking about that.
I know he's not.
How can we put ourselves in a position to win a championship?
It ain't about winning a championship.
That's what they're thinking about.
You thought your whole team was going to stay
so you was willing to take a sacrifice.
One guy left, now there's all this money open.
Now they're about to overpay for somebody that they didn't want.
No, they're going to get a good, solid piece.
It's going to be James Harden going to have to step up.
Kawhi Leonard going to have to step up.
Okay, let me ask you guys.
And then Russ is going to come in and play the way now.
Let me ask you guys a question then.
Knowing what we know now,
if you're Russ, would you have stayed in like you did
or would you rather be opting out right now?
If I'm Russ, I'm opting out.
Okay.
For sure.
Are you using your numbers to get more?
Yeah.
What are you using?
Yeah, numbers.
Numbers, everything.
No, not even numbers.
I know you need me now.
Oh, after this move? Yeah, after the move. Yeah, I mean, yeah. So he opted in before the move. No, not even numbers. I know you need me now. Oh, after this move?
Yeah, after the move.
Yeah, I mean, yeah.
So he opted in before the move.
Yeah, opted in before.
Because he didn't know about it.
He opted in.
He had a deadline to opt in.
Opted in before the move.
PG leaves.
You give Harden the two for seven.
You give Derrick Jones three for 30.
I just think Russ is a commitment guy, man.
He's a team commitment guy.
He wanted to show, look, man, it don't matter.
Let's just get this shit going again.
But cool, but now, I'm like, you're giving Derrick Jones that money?
Shit, I...
I mean, let me go ahead and sign.
He could have signed a one-year, what, 15, 20?
Maybe.
Brought Batum in, and Batum is making...
Listen, I'm not talking about guys asking for a no-trade clause,
but it should be certain guys on that wall to where if you're not here,
don't even come in here and ask for it.
But what if you have the leverage? I'm talking about
if you have leverage, use your leverage. What's the leverage
though? Like, are we winning?
Because if we're not winning and you're averaging 30
and you're like... You can expect it.
You can expect it if you're winning at Yuhuba.
Like, we gotta be winning. My leverage
is PG. I played 74
games. The most I played in Clippers uniform.
I was available for all the playoffs.
Didn't have the greatest playoffs, but Kawhi was not.
You re-upped with Kawhi back in January.
You want the deal Kawhi got, and I'm giving it to you.
Then I changed my mind.
Now you're trying to one-up Kawhi.
You're not better than Kawhi.
You're trying to one-up Kawhi.
Your resume isn't better for that.
I don't trust that.
I don't know.
That's exactly what happened.
And they backed out of that.
No.
No, we're not doing that.
Not a one-up.
Because then we look bad to our guy.
We look bad to our guy.
I have a pod.
Now, our guy looking like y'all gave him a what?
Paul George and Sagittarius.
I have a podcast.
I'm here in L.A.
I need to know.
I don't want you to just randomly trade me to somewhere that I don't want to be.
That's all that is.
I don't want to be traded to somewhere I don't want to be.
Hey, man.
Okay.
And I don't want to get into my career.
The wife feel the same way, but he went to trip. Okay. And I really don't want to give you all this money, but we have to yeah
All right. I mean yeah, it ain't working. We ain't doing we ain't getting better. We can't get out the first round
I mean, what do we pay me? He can say because of me
Is well I'm here. No, no, no. This year you won't. No, that's it. Last year you wasn't though. Hey, hey, hey. Last year. Paul George.
All he's going to say,
he's going to say this.
Well, I'm in Philly.
I'm in Philly now
with the 212.
Next year,
yeah, we're going to give you,
you know, two pieces.
You can go ahead
and throw Kawhi over here
because you're going to be
trying to trade him anyway.
Well, interesting.
I mean, honestly though,
I mean, honestly,
honestly though,
would you give a guy a no trade clause
that's so comfortable being a number two option?
That's blatantly saying.
Ooh!
So I don't like this.
Yes, it is.
Ooh!
Does that mean I can show up when I want to show up,
and I ain't got to take the blame?
I'm just asking.
I could just be like, yo, I'm here, but I'm not?
I'm just asking.
It depends on the circumstances of where I'm at in my organization.
Right?
Who has the leverage, me or you?
That's all that is.
He didn't have the leverage.
Who?
P.
Yeah, he did.
He made that statement.
Get it.
I did.
I got 212.
You wanted the no trade.
I was willing to stay here.
You wanted the no trade.
You wanted to stay home.
What was the option?
Question for you. What was the option? Question for you.
What was the option?
$150 with a no trade clause or $62 more million to not have a no trade clause.
And I want to stay in L.A.?
I'm willing to stay in L.A.
If I'm not tripping on bread, I've made over $350 million in my career.
I mean.
Right?
And I can take this deal that's going to keep me here where I want to be.
I'm going to take this deal.
But remember,
they're taking pay cuts
to be here.
So if I'm going to take a pay cut,
50 million a year
for three years?
62 more million dollars.
You're taking a 62 million dollar pay cut.
But you got to live in Philadelphia.
So he's saying,
so that's what I'm saying.
He's taking a 62 million dollar pay cut for put me in a city that I want.
Close enough.
You're not taking a pay cut.
There is a body of water in Philadelphia whose second team all NBA.
He's taking the same deal.
I can't help it.
How are you taking a pay cut?
He's taking the same deal.
Because when he signed that, he wasn't all NBA.
He didn't know what he was going to do.
So he was trying to lock his shit in.
That's just bad business on him.
He just knows he's the number one guy on the team.
It's bad business for him. But he's number one. Oh. Kawh business on him. He just knows he's the number one guy on the team. He's bad business on him. But he's number one.
Who? Kawhi. Kawhi.
So why is the number one guy on the team? He takes 150 for
three. I guarantee you Kawhi is mad that
he signed. He wished he was up
as a free agent right now. For sure.
Well, if they were going to run it back.
You made a bad deal. They was going to run it back.
Gil, he had the opportunity to do that. I mean, injury. I mean, I got a sign
to do it. My leg. James Ward locked his
deal. My leg. So Brandon, to your point,
back in March 2023,
PG appeared on JJ Redick's
Old Man and the Three podcast,
said he was comfortable
being the number two option
on a championship level team.
So if we establish that Kawhi
is the number one option
on this Clipper squad,
I think we can agree on that, right?
Yeah, my resume.
Did PG deserve the same deal as Kawhi
when acknowledging
that he's the second option?
No, not if you're acknowledging
that you're the second option. And now you're not if you're acknowledging that you're the second option.
And now you're the third option.
And now you're the third option.
Hold on, I was about to say.
More bread.
Hold on, I was about to say.
Y'all gave him 212, right?
They gave him 200 to be the third option?
Oh, they better win the championship this year.
Yeah.
They better win this.
No, you better win the championship.
First of all.
I don't want to hear shit.
That's what I'm saying.
You're the number one option, right?
You're the number one option, right? You're the number one option, right?
And you get scared and sign a bad deal.
I'm not following you.
I'm not dumb.
But if you work, if you work 60 million and you sign for 45, that's you and your representation.
I'm not going to sign 40 because you didn't sign 60.
Right.
If you're 60, if you're the number one option,
you're worth 60, and I'm the number two option,
I'm worth 55.
Cool.
But you signed for 45, nigga, I'm not signing that 40.
I'm worth 55 million.
That's what I'm signing for.
You just made a bad deal because you were scared.
So, yes, you're the number one option,
I'm the number two option,
but you didn't sign number one option money.
That's not my problem.
Why would Philly take PG
and give him what he wanted from the
back end? Why would they do that? Why not?
They're willing to overpay to bring another star.
They needed to do something. But they got to save
bread on Tyrese Maxey not making it all NBA.
Yeah, see, that's what I said. Him not making it.
So those are circumstances
that just so happen to line up with Philly
because if those circumstances don't,
where does PG go?
He goes here.
Does he take the deal?
No, they're still negotiating.
So does he take the deal?
Which one?
If they don't give him no trade calls, does PG still at some point,
if he don't got that Philly situation where they're like,
we're going to give you the 212, you come fuck with us because we desperate.
We need something.
I'm sure there was something else on the table, though, for him. I mean, he had the Warriors situation.
You remember the Warriors situation.
Remember the Warriors?
Even for the Warriors, you would go there to the burning building?
So you would go there for no trade clause,
but you wouldn't stay here for no trade clause.
I think he would go to the Warriors.
Remember, there's two options.
I got $212,000 or $157,000 with the trade clause. They're not giving him $212,000 to go to state.
Or give me $157,000 with the trade clause. That's why I say take212,000 to go to state. Or give me $150,000 with a trade call.
That's why I say take Philly out of the situation.
He comes back and he signs that fucking deal.
He signs that deal.
He don't need to.
He would because he'd want to stay and it's the only deal on the table.
I don't have to because what ends up happening is when the free agents leave,
if I leave, you have nothing.
Remember, it's all about your leverage and free agency
Right. Sometimes you can overplay your hand you can under play your hand or you can play that motherfucker to the tee
No, I like I didn't tell you that and I didn't tell you me. I was a free agent
Right. I went into the market as the number one dude
But I'm on two knee injuries, right?
So I'm like, all right, I got to try to break 100
because I know they're going to lowball me.
Fuck, right?
If they get to 100,
I got to take it
because I have no leverage.
I get a call at,
I'm going to just go on the record
and say midnight, right?
I got a call at midnight.
You know what?
I got a call at 11.30 p.m.
by,
because it's not the organization,
will say,
what's the name's camp?
Baron Davis' camp.
Unofficial, right?
Hypothetical.
Hypothetical.
This is all an alleged hypothetical.
Instead, he's opting out,
leaving,
and signing with the Clippers.
Right?
And Golden State is offering me the max deal,
which would have been five-year, 101.
And then I said, well, I just bought a new house.
I said, we'll give you a $5 million house and a helicopter.
We already have it.
This guy.
Swear to God.
Stop that.
So when I walked into negotiation.
Now, I didn't have this before I was walking in, right?
When I walked into the negotiation, they slid that paper.
We did everything.
Boom, boom, boom.
And this is what we think you're worth.
And it was a six-year $89 million deal.
This is warriors coming in.
No, this is wizards.
Oh, the wizards did this one right here.
Yeah, six-year, 89.
When you already had a one-on-one.
Five-year one-on-one.
With a $5 million house and a helicopter.
With a $5 million house.
Because they said, we know we can't match the six years, but we can throw it in other things.
House and helicopter, whatever car.
So they were going to try to match the 20-something million dollars.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, on the outside.
Yeah, on the outside.
So going into that deal, right, going in there, they slid the money.
I looked at it
and said, oh, this is a nice deal. Appreciate it. But I just been offered the max deal from
Golden State. Baron Davis left. So they had to go check. They found out Baron Davis left. I said,
all right, I'm out. I don't need to negotiate. I'm going on vacation. And then, so July 1st,
I scheduled my shit
for July 1st on purpose.
My tour in China, July 1st,
and I'm coming back July 11th.
So you're not going to be able
to negotiate with me
until July 11th, right?
So that means I handicapped.
You were not checking email, Gil?
So I handicapped the franchise,
right, because now
I have Baron Davis gone.
So now I got Golden State holding on to their money,
which forces Wizards to hold on to their money.
And then that morning I got the call from the owner
and said, the money is yours.
But it was the leverage I had.
Other than that, if Baron Davis don't opt out,
I don't have a team throwing the max at me
on somebody who's injured with two knee seizures
who only played two games that season. So Baron Davis is the reason that I got the max at me on somebody who's injured for two for with two new seizures who only played two games that season so baron davis is the reason that i got the match so the moral of
the story is baron davis looked out for a fellow los angeles no california the moral story is it's
it's it's leverage if you have the leverage you got to use it at your at your expense right that's
what i'm saying with pg is everyone was consider this a good move for the Philadelphia 76ers.
But PG, for you not to get what you wanted, he got what he wanted.
He got what he wanted.
He did that.
He wanted to stay.
He said, I wanted to stay and retire and be a Clipper for life.
I cannot do that no more.
That's negotiation power, man.
That's just part of the goal.
If he had the leverage,
he would have been able
to get that done.
But like you said,
for his brand,
why would you want to move
the Prodcast P and everything?
It's a lot of...
It's more leverage here
than in Philly.
No, I mean, Philly's a...
Philly's a bear for Philly.
You know what I'm saying?
Philly's a big market.
It's big enough.
It's not Los Angeles market,
but it's big enough.
It ain't going down
to some bottom hole. It's your third. It's not Los Angeles market, but it's big enough. It ain't going down to some bottom hole.
It's your third.
You're number three now.
You're number three. Remember, if he's number two, it looks
different for your brand. It looks
different for the pod, but you're number three.
I'm number three. And we're looking for you to do
number three. It's pressure on you. First of all,
I'm not number three. I'm possibly number
two. First of all, you're number
three. First of all, you're number three. Tyrese Maxey, I'm on the rise. Tyrese Maxey, I'm on the rise. I'm possibly number two. First of all, you're number three. First of all, you're number three.
They gave Maxie number one.
They gave him number one.
Tyrese Maxie, I'm on the rise.
Yesterday.
They gave him number one yesterday.
What is Maxie making?
A 204.
Listen, Tyrese Maxie.
Bro, you're not finna stunt my growth.
I'm that nigga right now.
I'm not stunting your growth.
I mean, and then you already cool with being number two,
so you can be number three.
I'm not stunting your growth.
The franchise broke me in, dog.
You got to shut the fuck up.
And that's fine.
And we've seen what you've done.
Yeah, we know what you can do.
And listen, I'm happy PG got his.
I just hate the fact that he told himself that he is a better number two option.
I don't like that.
Like, I don't like that.
Y'all holding on to some shit that was two years ago.
But that's why he didn't get that no trade clause either.
Because it's like, well, you're comfortable with
proving that you're
the number one guy.
Proving that you're
the number one guy.
I got 212.
Now y'all figure out.
Tyrese Maxey.
Oh, they will.
The Clippers gonna figure it out.
They can.
There's nobody.
They're just like the Lakers.
There's nobody.
There's nobody out there.
Maxey, five-year 204.
PG, five-year 204
versus a four-year 212.
You think Maxey
giving up a backseat
to Paul George?
It ain't you giving up.
No, it is.
You got eight.
It is because it's going to come down to you.
Are you a point guard?
And you giving it to your two best players?
Are you going to sit there and try to do whatever?
Wait, wait, wait.
That ain't the game no more.
That ain't the game no more.
I got the ball.
All right, we'll see.
That's a little gill out there, man.
Y'all got Tyree.
That's a little gill out there.
Y'all got Tyree Sexton.
That's a little gill out there.
I mean, boom, y'all niggas move around.
I got the ball.
Move.
Get it off the glass.
All seriousness, it is a better option than Tobias Harris, though, for sure.
Yeah.
For sure.
I mean, I'm not going to, like, couldn't dare.
For sure.
So with this team and this lineup, they should definitely be able to make the Eastern Conference
finals or finals.
If it's anything less than that, then...
I think that was the intention when putting the squad together.
But listen, they got... And Caleb Martin as well. Fuck that, man. I think that was the intention when putting the squad together. Listen, they got...
And Caleb Martin as well.
Fuck that, man. I'm standing on this.
He did not want to go to Philly.
It doesn't...
He did not want to go to Philly, man.
It doesn't matter whether he wanted to or not.
He's sitting there comfortably in his Sixers number-eight jersey
to honor Kobe.
So, last question on this subject.
You say he didn't want to go to Philly, but he's there now.
Is PG in a better situation in Philly
than he would have been playing with the Clippers?
Hell yeah.
I mean, he is, though.
Listen, bro, you could get your no-trade clause and stay there,
but the Clippers are going to be the same regardless if he was there.
New arena, 1,100 bathrooms.
It don't matter.
Brandon, ample bathrooms.
It don't matter.
It was going to be the same Clippers fit every year.
So him getting out, yes.
I mean, listen, for what he want right now, I'm rolling.
On a telling of your career, I'm rolling.
Oh, yeah.
Embiid, Maxie, got a chance to win.
Before Embiid got hurt.
I'm rolling, though.
Before Embiid got hurt, it was what, three?
Yeah, there were, I think, two or three.
It was two, three and a...
Well, the question is with PG, it's always been this.
No, I'm rolling.
I'm just not rolling with the no trade clause., it's always been this. No, I'm rolling. I'm just not rolling with the no trade clause.
The question has always been this.
Wherever he's been since Indiana has been, why are we so excited?
Like we're going to take it over the top.
Bro.
Mm-hmm.
Mm-hmm.
There was a lot of excitement.
But why is that when we know how talented he is and what he can do?
Why is it that that's the feeling
when he gets picked up in free agency?
Like, oh, shit, we got Paul George.
Because we thinking about Paul George at Indiana
when he went to the Eastern Conference Finals.
That's the Paul George I will always remember.
18, 19-year Paul George with Russell?
When he was third in MVP votes?
What are you talking about?
Yeah, that's cool.
But that Indiana Paul are you talking about?
No one remembers that.
PG-13?
No one remembers that.
That was the most dominant one.
PG-13 was the most dominant one.
Because Rush averaged a triple-double.
Nobody...
Rush averaged a triple-double.
Nobody does smoke.
You know why nobody remembers it?
Because he was an OKC.
Russ. Russ.
Exactly.
Number two option.
He was the number two option.
Hence why.
No, he was number one option.
Russ made him number one option.
Russ was triple-double.
Oh, my God.
He was triple-double.
Oh, my God.
He was the number one option.
PG-13 hasn't been the number one option since Indiana.
Since Indiana.
All right, so Paul George at OKC was third in votes and MVP. NBA first team, defense first team, MVP, defensive.
He was an all-star, averaging 28.
Russell, I think, averaged 22 that year.
He made PG the number one option.
Right?
Yep.
Russ averaged 23.
He got the full lead.
10 and 11.
10 and 11.
Right?
And then who got all the attention? Russell Rushbrook. He got the full list. 10 and 11. 10 and 11. Right? And then who
got all the attention? Russell Rushbrook.
That's the main guy. Absolutely.
It was his second triple-double, I think.
Third. That was his third triple-double.
Russell Rushbrook definitely
had all the attention. When KD left, it was Russell Rushbrook
the team. I don't care who came. No, it was his third.
It was his third one.
Right? He made NBA
third team.
Russ was definitely
the main guy.
No, but what I'm saying is
nobody really paid attention
to it because his ass
was in fucking OKC.
No, because...
He was down in OKC.
Nobody watches that team.
It's my team.
And that's why I don't
want to go back.
We was watching
Russell Westbrook.
And that's why he wanted
to know Trey Claus.
His ass didn't want to go
back to that situation
where he's balling his ass off his best statistical year ever,
and it got no recognition.
And we still don't see you.
I mean, I'm taking 212 and 4 to go back to OKC right now.
Don't put me back in prison.
OKC ain't prison.
OKC cracking.
You crazy.
You was playing behind a guy who was playing better than you.
That's all it is.
When you're the second option, you always going to was playing behind a guy who was playing better than you. That's all it is. A man, a man.
When you the second option, you always going to be playing behind Batman.
A man averaged a triple-double three years and nobody paid attention to it.
We all paid attention to it.
What's the rest of us?
We all paid attention to that.
There was triple-double fatigue.
Let's just keep it real.
What you talking about?
Y'all started acting like triple-doubles, bro.
Y'all Lakers fans.
Boy, you crazy.
Y'all bias-ass fans.
I'm a West-
Somebody else is saying y'all started acting like triple doubles. Y'all Lakers fans. Boy, you crazy. Y'all bias-ass fans.
I'm a Westwood fan.
This man averaged a triple-double and made NBA all-second team.
He averaged a triple-double and made NBA all-third team.
And he made it.
And he was still the main guy.
The squares were good.
Everybody was watching OKC games when Russell Russell was having that uniform on.
I don't care what nobody said.
If his ass was doing that in a big city,
his ass would have been the man.
If he was doing that in New York,
if Russell was doing that in New York,
then he'd be God.
Man, we ain't talking about Russ, though.
No, I'm just talking about the city.
We're talking about PG being the number two behind.
He lived it.
You're a third team.
I'm first team. You're going to tell me a third team, nigga. I'm first team.
You're going to tell me you're better than me.
I'm an MVP.
Cool.
Cool, you gave me.
I'm an MVP.
But that's what I'm saying.
You're not asking.
Russ gave him that number one.
Russ said this is the number one option.
Oh, man.
No, he never said that.
And they played like that.
Russ didn't even do that to KD.
The fuck I'm going to do that to you for?
At that time.
Move around, my nigga.
He grew.
I told that nigga he can go.
He grew.
I told that nigga he can go. Bye, nigga. He grew as a player. Bye, nigga. He grew. I told that nigga he can go. He grew. I told that nigga he can go.
He grew.
Bye, nigga.
He grew as a player.
Bye, nigga.
He grew as a player.
Bye, nigga.
I don't need you.
Bye.
He grew as a player.
Watch what I do without you, nigga.
He grew as a player.
Watch what I do without you.
Ha!
Come on, campaign.
Come fuck with me.
Yeah!
Hey, hey.
And then what do they do?
Yeah!
Gave them the international
All that loyalty.
Get them on my body.
Hopefully y'all niggas can go
because we just be trash.
So we asked the chat
two important questions.
Was PG asking for too much
from the Clippers?
39% say yes.
61% said no.
Did PG deserve the same deal as Kawhi with 4,000 votes? 65% said yes, 35% said no. Now let's move it on.
Okay, okay. There you go. No trade. Long as they had that no trade vote, that's all that
matters. We good. We good right now.
That was it. Let's move it on. So Team USA opened training
camp in Las Vegas this past weekend in preparation of the Paris
Olympics, which begin later this month.
As a reminder, here is the
12-man roster for reference
sake. A lot of legendary
players on the squad.
So the entire squad was there except for Jason Tatum.
We missed the first two days for personal reasons, but it's expected
to join the team today, be ready to play in their
first exhibition game against Canada
on Wednesday. That's going to be turnt up.
That Canada game. No smoke ducking. Dylan Brooks
better pull up. Hey, yo, who don't deserve to be on this?
That is not where the conversation
was headed, but since you brought us there, Brandon,
I would say... Hey, yo, who looked the odd
man out? Like, yo, who looked like they don't belong there?
I just, I mean... Go ahead. Go ahead
and say it, y'all.
What the fuck is he in there for? did he have the option of playing with multiple countries
who
who's the odd man out in this photo
to you Brady I mean well Embiid don't need
to be there you need to be in this country
for sure
why would he need to be there
because he's not American
his passport
where was he born go play for them Why? Because he's not American. Thank you. His passport, his passport. Thank you.
Where was he born?
Cameroon.
All right, go play for them.
Okay.
Thank you very much.
Tyrese Halliburton shouldn't be up there.
I don't know about all that.
Really?
What?
What are we doing?
Damn.
Damn.
All that.
Damn.
A savvy ball distributor?
Damn, Kyrie.
I mean, yeah, I mean.
If I'm Kyrie, I get cut from the USA,
do I go play for Australia?
Yeah.
On God, I would have.
On God, I would have.
On God, I would have.
You got to go play for Josh Giddy?
I'm going to light some incense,
chill at the crib once again.
Are you rolling with Drew?
Yeah, for sure.
Hell yeah.
Hell yeah.
Drew from Alabama.
Two-time NBA champion, Drew Holliday?
Defender going, yeah, do his thing.
Everybody else good, though.
Anyway, moving onward, they will be in Group C in the Paris Olympics
along with South Sudan, Serbia, and Puerto Rico.
So Puerto Rico claimed the 12th and final spot in the Olympics
with an Olympic qualifying tournament win over Lithuania in San Juan.
It was very lit and turnt up.
You can check the videos on the Internet.
Pelicans guard Jose Alvarado had 23 points in the win.
Puerto Rico makes their first appearance in the Olympics in 2004.
But back to the USA after an embarrassing fourth place finish at the World Cup last summer.
Much hype around this team, USA Squad, and their loaded roster.
Is there any reason to expect anything other than gold from Team USA in the Olympics?
Easy?
Should be easy.
Is this the A Squad, Gil? Yeah. Is this the A squad, Gil?
Yeah.
Is this the A squad now?
Who just finished fourth?
Who?
A team representing America.
Oh, okay.
Our best players was a team.
That wasn't Team USA.
They were representatives of Team USA.
That was just a bunch of bench niggas getting in the game.
No, that's a fact.
No, that's a fact.
That was nasty.
Bench niggas acting like starters.
You had four bench dudes coming off.
Four dudes that didn't even start on an NBA team
playing on a USA team.
And then one of y'all got smacked.
Is that anti-American good?
I thought them Euros was just out there doing what they do.
Germany?
Germany. We didn't even have the nasty ones.
The fatherland? They had the Finals MVP on there. Jalen do? Germany? Germany. We ain't even high on that. That's a nasty one.
The fatherland?
They had the finals MVP on there.
Jalen Brown was on the team.
He was the finals MVP last year?
No.
Oh.
Oh, so he wasn't the finals MVP last year.
Yeah, yeah, last year.
He went on this year to overcome the odds.
Eastern Conference finals MVP, finals MVP.
I mean, I'm expecting nothing but gold.
The marketable Jalen Brown.
Jalen Brown was on that team last year? Yes. Healen Burns. Jalen Burns was on that team last year?
Yes.
He was, yeah.
Jalen Burns was on that team last year.
I was going to say, no, he wasn't.
No, he wasn't.
That nigga was not.
Brunson and them?
Yeah.
Well, no, hold on.
I was going to say, he was not on that team.
He didn't make that.
Nah.
That definitely wasn't that.
No, that team was trash.
That's crazy that he didn't make this team, Jalen Burns.
Because they put the other guys on there. Would you swap
him from Drew? No, they didn't have no
no. They had four bench players.
They had four bench players on that team. Did have the other Jalen Brunson.
Nice try though. It was a nice swing and miss.
He tried though. It was nice. Nice try. It was nice swinging miss. It was nice swinging miss.
He tried though.
He tried.
I didn't.
I'm merely a conduit.
As you guys know, I'm exhausted from a Fourth of July vacation.
Huh?
Would you swipe Drew Holliday for, I mean, Jalen Brown for Drew Holliday?
They did have Walker Kessler, if that's any consolation. And then put Drew for Tyrese Hellenberg?
Uh-uh.
So you keeping Tyrese?
So if I had to swipe Drew out for Jalen Brown,
you wouldn't swipe out Tyrese Hellenberg for Drew Holiday?
So you wouldn't have three Boston players on there?
No.
That's a lot of defenders.
One's a fourth option?
No.
Huh?
What does Tyrese do that you can't do? That's what I'm defenders. One's a fourth option? No. Huh? What does Tyrese do that...
That's what I'm trying to figure out.
Willing passer.
Defender.
I mean, 94 feet.
Drew's a willing passer.
It depends on what your criteria is of being on the USA team.
That's what it really matters.
Yeah.
And we never know what that is.
Yeah, what is...
Oh, yeah.
My bad. We don't know. Yeah, we Yeah, what is it? Oh, yeah. My bad.
We don't know.
Yeah, we do.
What is it?
Can't get in trouble?
No, I pick who I want.
Why wouldn't you want John Moran?
I pick who I want.
Shoulder.
But who is I pick?
Like, who is that picking?
Who is that picking?
I know.
Who is it?
The committee.
The USA Selection Committee.
Do we know the names?
I think Nico on there.
Like how many people like pick, like select the players?
Grant Hill's one of them on the committee I think.
Okay.
Grant Hill.
He's the last decision maker.
So he finalizes.
Is Colangelo them?
Colangelo.
Colangelo them Colangelo
I'll pass it to Grand Hill to who
So coach gay
So coach a
Hmm, you know, I just want to know the group like like because it'll say a lot about like who like what college they went to
Like where they played.
Why wouldn't Kyrie make it then?
Because Kyrie. Coach K and.
Not Kyrie.
Why wouldn't that, and Grant Hill?
Coach K and Grant Hill wouldn't pick up Kyrie?
I mean, you would think they would look out for their guy that went to Duke.
It's a shoe thing.
It's a shoe thing.
Oh, shoe thing.
You're smacking his shoe thing.
Hey, y'all said that before.
Because I feel like my rookie year, I feel like I should have been invited to the shoe thing. Gil smacking his... Shoe thing. Hey, y'all said that before. Because I feel like my rookie year,
I feel like I should have been invited to the USA thing,
and I was like,
if I wasn't signed to Under Armour,
I'm sure I'd be there.
And then people got mad.
I'm like...
The shoe game.
I said, after my rookie year,
I don't get to make the...
And I was like,
oh, it's got to be a shoe thing.
Yeah.
And everybody was Nike.
Coincidence?
No?
But I couldn't go try out.
Go get some buckets?
The B team.
They in trouble anyway.
USA team in trouble.
So we shouldn't expect anything other than gold
from this team, USA squad.
You're saying that they're in trouble how? How?
They in trouble.
They in trouble.
Why are they in trouble?
Steve Kerr is the coach, one.
You don't know what the fuck he doing.
Ant-Man's stirring up the pot.
Back, back, Steve.
Ant-Man's stirring up the pot.
I like what Ant-Man said.
You don't like what Ant-Man said? I love it. That's what I'm saying. He's stirring up the pot. Bad back Steve. Ant-Man's stirring up the pot. I like what Ant-Man said. Don't like what Ant-Man said?
I love it. That's what I'm saying. He's stirring up the pot. Well, let's get into it, Rashad. So Anthony Edwards, one of the few holdovers from the World Cup team, bullying his way into the starting
lineup last summer. Ant-Man was asked what his role will be with Team USA's Olympic squad and had
this to say. I'm still the number one option. Y'all might look at it differently.
I don't look at it differently.
And half times I've never questioned it.
I can go out there and just go out there and say,
yeah, I just go out there and be myself.
Shoot my shots, play defense, and you know,
they gotta fit in and play around me.
That's how I feel.
So Ann said, I'm still the number one option. They've got to fit around me.
That's how I feel.
Did appear to have a smile on his face.
Also said that he was hoping that KD would be the number one option.
KD currently dealing with a calf injury.
Will be sidelined for the early stages.
Should be available for the Olympics.
KD, of course, Anthony Edwards' favorite player.
But does Ant-Man have too much dip on his chip
thinking he will be the number one option on this Team USA squad?
If not him, then who?
I mean KD?
Yeah.
Steph?
So they said KD, again, is what?
Calf-strain right now.
Calf-strain, okay.
So he's calf strain.
Booker starting at the two.
Who's starting at the two?
They got Booker starting at the two.
Oh, we don't know who's starting at the two.
I'm about to say, we don't know who's starting.
Is A-Man starting or A-Man coming off the bench?
We don't know who's starting yet.
We do not know yet.
We don't know yet.
We'll get a bet.
Usually who leads in scoring is usually that three or that four
because it's the open shots.
It's the zone.
Depending on what the offense is, I mean, if Steve Kerr is going to be the one,
two, or the three, he's going to be leading.
I mean, you still got Steph Curry out there.
Steve has already asked Ant-Man to do what?
Come off the bench, I believe.
Because who did it?
Kobe did it with the – No, they're going to have Booker come off the bench probably.
D-Wade did it for Kobe.
D-Wade did it for Kobe.
D-Wade did it for Kobe.
D-Wade did it for Kobe.
D-Wade did it for Kobe.
D-Wade did it for Kobe.
D-Wade did it for Kobe.
D-Wade did it for Kobe.
D-Wade did it for Kobe.
D-Wade did it for Kobe.
D-Wade did it for Kobe.
D-Wade did it for Kobe.
D-Wade did it for Kobe.
D-Wade did it for Kobe.
D-Wade did it for Kobe.
D-Wade did it for Kobe.
D-Wade did it for Kobe.
D-Wade did it for Kobe.
D-Wade did it for Kobe.
D-Wade did it for Kobe.
D-Wade did it for Kobe. is Ant-Man being too confident. Nah, man. I mean, that's who he is. Like, if he not like that, then we kind of look at him crazy now.
Like, he's already set that tone for himself
all through the interviews,
all through last year.
So it's like, if he ain't like that,
I'm going to be like,
yo, what's up with him?
So is Bronn and him not treating Ant-Man
like Mike and him used to treat Kobe?
No, what we need...
And that little Laker boy coming in here,
he's going to be...
He's going to shoot all the ball.
He's going to shoot everything.
No, for sure.
Man, Bronn... Listen, man, listen., he's going to be, he's going to shoot all the ball. He's going to shoot everything. No, for sure. Man, Bron, Bron, listen, man, listen.
Bron is going to be out there, you know.
Cruising.
Just cruising.
They're saying right now, the reports is, does LeBron play like this all the time?
Eric Sproster.
He practices hard.
Look, Eric Sproster, every day, every drill, every substitution. He goes this hard.
So it doesn't sound like he's cruising.
No, I'm talking about scoring-wise.
There's going to be delegates.
He's about to have fun.
So they need a young horse.
Like an all-star game.
That horse is going to be Anthony Edwards.
He's the only one that has the energy enough to keep going.
Everybody's older.
Katie and LeBron will be at the 3-4,
with Embiid starting at the 5.
Right?
So that means Curry.
It'll be Steph at the 1.
It'll be Steph.
It'll be Ant-Man.
Then Katie LeBron.
No Katie.
Katie LeBron.
But I was like, Katie's out.
No Katie. So that means Jason Tatum will be at the four.
So it'll be Jason Tatum at the four.
My question is this.
So it'll be Jason Tatum or Ant-Man?
If you're depending on them as your battery packs
and everybody else is going 75%,
is 75% enough to win it?
Yeah.
Fair question.
It ain't no fucking...
It is a fair question.
Who we gonna lose?
Is it some niggas from the moon?
Is it a team from the moon coming down?
We've seen the roster.
The monster.
We've seen the rosters, dog.
We've seen the rosters of everyone in goddamn honesty.
You got players still trying to make the goddamn Olympics.
Gil, niggas play hard for their country.
They're trying to make the team.
So who the fuck, y'all got, who in the moon coming down?
Nobody.
The Saleta.
Nobody.
If this is what we, is this?
Injuries happen.
Yeah, but it ain't, listen, man.
Next man up.
Next man up.
Foul, you know what else happens?
Foul trouble happens.
Oh my God.
Foul trouble happens.
Oh shit.
Ant-Man's in foul trouble.
Devin Booker, come on. Devin Booker, come on.
Devin Booker, come on.
You think Team Canada's not scared of Devin Booker?
Team Canada's not.
If KD's starting, then Tatum's coming off.
No, we got Tatum coming off the bench.
Them Canada niggas ain't scared of them?
Man, nobody looking at them.
That team is...
They're not scared of them.
That team is 6-1, 6-2.
They're not scared of them?
6-1, 6-2. They're so scared of them. 6-1, 6-2.
They're so smart.
Hey, hey, hey, listen.
Hey, hey, hey.
When they see Germany again,
Germany will be like,
remember us?
Hey, man, remember us?
Hey, Rashad.
Holla, Byrne, you done graduated.
They let you up after you played that bad?
I hear you right now,
but I don't think Canada
want to see USA right now.
And I'm small-ass.
And they got to...
I don't think they want to see us right now.
This is going to be another...
I know Joker, dude.
Hey, hell no. I know Joker, dude. I know Joker, dude.
Joker?
I know Joker want to see them.
Have they made it?
They made it for the first time ever?
If Canada sees us in the championship, they're going to be playing not like us.
No, they made it for the first time?
They made it?
Serbia made it for the first time ever?
Spain looking over there like, what's up?
Ooh, Spain.
But the Gasol brothers is coming out?
What?
NBA? This ain't 08. This ain't 08 nool brothers is coming out? What? This ain't 08.
This ain't 08.
This ain't 08 no more.
What's up?
This ain't 08.
This ain't 08.
This ain't 08.
And they had it there,
and we still dogged them.
Look, all y'all needs.
Come on, man.
Serbia made it for the first time.
If it's so trash,
why you need all y'all niggas?
Then Greece made it for the first time.
If it's so trash,
why do we need all these niggas?
I agree. If it's so trash, why do we need all these niggas? I agree.
If it's so trash, why do we need the super team?
Why did all of a sudden it come out,
hey, man, let's get this done.
Why do you need all that if it's so trash out there?
Because we got people like y'all thinking that the overseas is about to take over.
We scared y'all.
Did we scare you?
No, no, no.
Hey, speaking of that, speaking of that. No, no, no, no, speaking of that,
you know how,
you know how like
the media's talking about
in the future,
in the future,
the Euro's gonna be
taking over?
Right?
Okay.
And I was like,
yo, what age group
do y'all think,
what age group?
Don't say 17.
I know 17,
you right now,
the youth,
they smacking everybody
by damn near 100.
Huh?
70, 50, 60.
So I know this.
They know 17U that's looking available.
18U, they're going to be smacked.
14, whatever age group.
I don't believe it either.
Listen, listen.
They're playing together and everybody else playing individually.
We said if the Europeans got together, okay, we could find some 17- to 18-year-old youth
right now that play together up in Europe.
I bet you they'd beat them 17 years.
They are. They're playing together.
They're playing together.
They get beat by 100.
Individual countries.
We're talking about put all the Europeans together.
Just like the U.S. do.
You put all those...
Put all the Europeans together.
Each state in the United States is a country inside of the United States. We are one nation under God. So everybody, you're all those... Put all the Europeans together. Each state in the United States is a country.
We are one nation under God.
You're taking players
from all over. You're saying,
hey, let's go over here and play against them.
He's saying, listen,
y'all went to just play against Brazil.
It's two guys on Brazil that's good.
They ain't got no good team. Y'all gonna smack them by a hundred.
But if you take them two and put them
and y'all put them on a team, oh yeah, okay, okay.
Then that's different.
In the game when we played, you scored five. You scored five. You scored 12, you scored
seven. Y'all group up. Y'all might score 50. That's cool.
No, no.
That's cool.
That's an exaggeration, but it was okay.
The whole argument was that if the Europeans all came together, and you took Giannis, you took Jokic, you took Luka,
you got 12 of them together and play against our best 12, I don't know.
You keep saying that you got 12 players, six of them are sinners.
You can only take two, dog.
You can only take two.
That's the way it is.
We don't even know how to explain it.
Let's get out of that. If you We don't even know how to do it. You keep doing it like that, bro. That's not how it is. Get out of that.
If you stay out of that, we can do it.
What are you talking about?
I thought that it's my team.
I can put whoever else wherever I want to put them.
What are you talking about?
Can you go to any team?
If me and Brandon are coaching this team,
we get to put whoever we want in whatever position we want.
Who are you talking about?
I got Buka, Shy, Giannis, Wimby, and Jokic.
Man, start it up. Let's go.
That's not how you do it.
That's how we're going to do it.
That's how we're going to do it.
That's how our roster is going to roll out.
There's a criteria.
There's a criteria.
No, it's not.
I'm not in my family.
KD's not a fucking four man.
He's a three man, but they want to play him at the four. AD? KD. KD's not a fucking four, man. He's a three, man, but they want to play him at the four.
AD?
KD.
KD's a three, four.
If LeBron James is a point forward, why is he playing the four?
Because you can put him anywhere.
He's a three, four.
He can put Wimpy anywhere.
He want to play at the four?
All right, Giannis, you go to the four.
You go to the four.
He can play at the four.
Giannis plays at the four.
Giannis, play at the three.
You can play at the three, Giannis.
Wimpy, you go to the four. You go to the four. You go play the four
Roster of the USA I mean of of a team so you can see what type of players cuz it's in positions I'm sorry go so we got win Uh-huh, center. That's all I'm gonna give you from this French squad.
No, winner? No, what are their positions?
Uh...
Onye?
Oh, that shit is in French.
How many centers do they have?
Well, I mean, you could put Wimby anywhere.
How many centers do they have, dawg?
Two centers?
Hold on, let me find actual positions.
Rudy and Embiid. I mean, Rudy and Wimby.
Two centers. Okay, go. Come on, daw me find actual positions. Rudy and Embiid, I mean Rudy and Wimby, two centers.
Okay, go.
Come on, go.
Come on.
Hold on one second, boo.
Yeah, I'm trying to find a squad, this is confusing.
It's okay, man.
Two centers, we got it.
Rudy and Embiid, we got it.
I mean Rudy and Wimby, we got it, two centers.
Now can we figure out our three forwards?
That's how we do it We got two centers. Now can we figure out our three forwards?
That's how we do it.
Two centers.
We got three guards.
And then the rest goes between the shooting guard and the small forward.
Why can't we
put our roster together how we want to put ours?
Because that's not how. You got to go by the rules.
Why do we have to go by your rules?
We're going by your rules.
It's not my rule.
It's the rules of USA. They don't have six centers by your rules. We're going by your rules. Because he's going to lose. We're not going by hot. It's not my rule. Yes, you're making it up.
It's the rules of USA.
They don't have six centers on the team.
What are you talking about?
They don't have six centers. That's their fault.
That's their fault.
No, no, no.
That's their fault.
We come to the fucking game with the players we got.
I don't give a fuck if we got eight centers.
One of them niggas is playing shooting guard.
Yep.
That's what we put him out.
One of them niggas is playing shooting guard.
So what?
This is AAU.
This is AAU.
We do what we want.
When Atlanta Celtics come in there, Dwight Howard, Josh Smith, man, shit.
What? Like all that.
What?
Josh can't play?
What?
Josh is the center.
No, nigga, I'm the guy.
Everybody over 6'8".
Rudy Goldberg had the shooting guard.
It lets you know what type of talent they had.
They got to put a center at the shooting guard.
No, we don't.
Or the small point.
No, we don't.
They don't have it.
No, we don't.
We got two guards.
Can we move on? We got plenty of guards. We got plenty of guards small We got plenty of guard we got plenty of guards plenty of guards no
USA gold man just come on man. No, but sore number one option you feel a man could be the number one
I never know but sort like this but not all together not not a bit European collective. Hell not USA
He never beat do you respect a man trying to show that he's an alpha on this squad for the alphas?
Yeah, man.
He's turning the tempo up.
It's time to go.
Let's go.
Nah.
I'm just waiting on the one-on-one.
I'm just waiting on the one-on-one footage.
He's going to be fun to watch.
Nah.
I think he should have established his shit from a silent perspective.
Go in there and do it.
That's not him.
I see.
No, bro.
He might start an international conference.
No, bro.
Listen, I'm just waiting on the footage of the one-on-one.
Can we get the one-on-one with KD, Staff, Ant-Man, LeBron, Kawhi, like the way KG did?
You better get him back.
Hey, hey, someone said y'all should do a simulation.
You better get him back, Carl.
I seen it.
I seen it on YouTube already.
I already did it.
No, well, you did your own rosters.
Right, right.
Let us set up our own rosters. You gave me the. Right, right. Let us set up our own rosters.
You gave me the rosters!
No, no.
He gave us the rosters!
You asked him because you didn't want to ask me.
You wasn't answering.
Yeah, that's how it was.
You just didn't want to wait.
I didn't want to wait.
He didn't want to wait.
He went, Brandon, give me yours.
Brandon, Brandon, Brandon.
I just gave you.
Brandon, give me who you can, because I don't know.
Wait, let me think about it for a second.
Let me get all the heroes in line.
You gave me, you gave me, you gave me 26 centers, man.
You gave me 26 centers.
Y'all lost about 40, how much y'all lose?
I'm going to do this simulation today.
All right, all right.
We got it right there loaded up.
I'm honest.
I'm honest.
Hey, we got it loaded in so you can change, you can change your line.
As you add the one, look at, man, come on, bro.
Yeah, he tripping.
Come on, bro.
I know he tripping. Come on, bro. I know he tripping.
Come on, bro.
We can bring Jamal Marriott.
All that.
You did that.
Come on, man.
He did that.
You had Shea at the one.
You had Luke at the two.
I asked him.
You know.
You know.
Brandon's the scour.
I'm a coach.
Brandon going to tell me, hey, man, go get these.
These guys good.
Where do you think we should play them at?
Wherever you want.
Let's just get the strategy together.
They gotta be about 40-something, man.
In the simulation?
Hell yeah. He ain't picked the way we want to pick.
Man, see, I know now.
Who did you pick the way that they wanted to pick?
This is who the star of the five.
He had
Shea at the one,
Luka at the two, Luka at the two,
Giannis
at the three, Jokic
and no, he had Markkinen and Jokic.
He picked the team.
I said Siakam, I said Markkinen,
then I said Jokic. Siakam played
23 minutes. He had 11 and 9.
Sounds about right.
Murray,
Markkinen, you got the other Sabonis. Where's Giannis? and nine. Sounds about right. Murray marketing. You got
the other Sabonis.
Where's Giannis?
Giannis is right here. He played
36 minutes at 19 and 13.
Luka had 37.
Damn. He shot the ball
29 times. Not giving
that rock up.
Giannis, get it out the net. I'm going to simulate that.
Come on. When we go in there, you know. When I spank you to fuck up out in there. As a reminder, be
on the lookout for game three. Gilbert Rashad. I smack on him. 2-15. I smack on him, we can
run it right after. On No Chill Gills YouTube. I'm going to look at all the attributes too.
I know what the attributes are. I'm going to look at all the sliders. I'm going to look
at all that before we start. I already know what's going on.
What he's doing in his spare time.
I know.
I'm going to look.
Well, let's keep this thing moving.
So Warriors only two seasons removed from their last championship,
but things changed quickly in the league.
After getting knocked out by the Lakers in the second round of 2023,
Dubs missed the playoffs this season.
And this offseason has seen Klay Thompson dip to the Mavs
with the Warriors filling that void by signing De'Anthony Milton
from the Sixers, trading for Kyle Anderson and Buddy Hill.
The team is also reportedly exploring a trade with the Jazz
to bring Laurie Markin in to help improve the roster.
So Steph Curry sat down with Yahoo Sports' Vince Goodwill
for a one-on-one interview on Sunday,
reaffirmed his commitment to winning,
and shed some light on his future
with the Warriors.
Do you want to be that person that says, I'm staying with one franchise for my entire career,
or is it just contingent upon where the franchise is?
Yeah, I mean, I can clearly say I want to be a Warrior for life.
That's always been my goal.
And I'm saying that sitting in this chair right now. But like you said, life, and especially life in the NBA,
it is a wild environment, and things change quickly,
and the league has changed quickly.
So we're trying to adapt and evolve.
And until then, I'll let everybody know if that changes.
But right now, of course, the goal is always to be to finish my career, move on team.
So Steph said goal is to finish his career with the Warriors,
but things change quickly in the league.
Steph has two years remaining on his deal, eligible to sign an extension this offseason.
Remains unclear whether or not he will do it.
Turns 37 next season.
And although he still has some great basketball left in the tank,
father time is still creeping up on him.
So how much pressure are the Warriors under
to surround Steph with a winning roster?
Brandon, I see you shaking your head.
I don't think no pressure.
I mean, I don't think there's nothing to prove.
I mean, you just keep going out there,
getting buckets.
I mean, if you're on the tail end of your career, I'm putting up numbers.
I know that's what Steph's going to do regardless,
but Steph said he still has a commitment to winning.
He's not there just to collect a check.
He wants to actually go out on a high note.
Yeah.
I mean, you know, like you said, things do happen.
So, you know, we don't know.
But, I mean, if you can end your career and, you know, go to the state where you started,
I mean, that's, you know, that
legacy is crazy, too. So, not a lot of players
have done that, either. But, you know.
Do you want to see him staring at me?
I mean...
So, you're telling me
last season's finished,
if they keep stacking those up, that'll be good enough
for Steph to want to stick around with this Warriors?
I mean, is he going to leave in a free agency?
Is he going to trade them?
I mean, what is...
What do we think is going to happen?
They can't trade them. They'll look bad.
Right? So...
If he says, I want to...
So he's going to, what, he's going to retire?
He's going to retire?
I mean, they're going to try to win, but at the end of the day, I mean.
It is what it is.
Right, he's done enough.
He's won four championships.
Whatever championships he wins at, what, 38, 39, 40,
he's not going to be the main guy, so it don't really affect his legacy.
This isn't legacy talk.
This is the guy who just wants to win, right?
If I just want to win, he cannot be happy
with how the team performed last season.
But I want to win means like what?
That means like you're willing to go somewhere else?
I want to win means give me a squad that can win.
I mean, because you're not going to win here.
Think about why you won the first four.
And that roster, those situations
are nowhere near the same so how could the confidence
of being like i'm going out there to try to win a championship knowing that that situation and
those championships play the heavy part on your roster the people who's around you so i mean i
look at it like it's tough for him to be so optimistic knowing that they're rebuilding.
It just sucks that, like, for him and who he is, it's like, you know,
like you're basically stuck.
Like, you know, like they had a chance.
I feel like they should have moved Draymond.
Yep.
You know, I think if they would have moved Draymond.
Kept Klay.
And kept Klay, you probably could have got KD back.
Maybe.
Like, you know what I'm saying?
Like, maybe.
No Draymond.
KD comes back with no Draymond.
So, I mean, I just think they dropped the ball a lot.
I think when you guys said the second pick when they drafted the big.
James Wiseman, Estella Lamelda.
So, it's been a lot of just like, kind of like questionable moves
at this point.
I mean,
or just go out there,
average 31,
30,
30,
and you know,
end it like how Kobe did.
Out.
Like,
I mean,
you know Steph.
Do you think that's the way
he wants to go out?
I mean,
if he's talking about winning,
I mean,
anybody who wins,
I feel like anybody who wins championships, you want to hear, you want that parade, you want's talking about winning, I mean, anybody who wins, I feel like anybody
who wins championships,
you want that parade,
you want that champagne.
So that's a feeling
that you always want forever.
You want to ride off
to the sunset
on a high note, right?
You know,
but, you know,
looking at it,
did Kobe go out
on a high note?
I mean,
60 on the way out?
You know,
like, I mean,
you know,
20 years.
They missed out the playoffs or they didn't make the playoffs. Yeah, no,. Pitched out the playoffs, so they made the playoffs.
Yeah, no, they didn't make the playoffs,
but 60 on the way out of your last game is crazy, though.
Yeah, he was disappointed.
You know, dropping the mic and...
He's disappointed.
But the Lakers had the worst season in their franchise history.
Yeah, it was a bad year.
Everything was bad about that.
So I could see not wanting to have it like that.
So, okay, you say stuff like that, you know.
That 60 on a high note, amazing, incredible moment.
But obviously, y'all know Kobe, I'm sure.
He hated it.
I'm not rolling with the boo-boo season with this roster.
You just running around like, what are we doing here?
I don't get to come back next year and redeem myself like I used to want to.
Yeah.
You said mellow ball?
Mellow for Steph, like I've said before.
Just go back. I mean, but that's not a winning situation. I want to win.
But my thing was, knowing it's not a winning situation, but they rebuild it anyway.
So if you're going to stay with Steph throughout his career, you still going to have to rebuild in the process.
That means losing.
Charlotte?
That means losing, right?
Okay. Okay.
So instead of just losing, you can rebuild faster with somebody that can come in that's younger
that can give you... And you move him
to... If I'm Charlotte, why would I
trade my franchise player? Because y'all not doing
shit in Charlotte you never have. Cool, but why
am I trading my franchise player that I'm
supposed to be building around? Because you ain't gonna
do shit with him and you ain't gonna build shit with it.
But I still have hope. So get rid of it.
But I still have hope. So you think
they gonna do something with Mellow Ball?
I think they could because it's a prestigious franchise now.
Right?
They end their rebuilding.
Remember, say, get out before it crash.
They still got Kaminga.
They still got a certain amount of pieces.
You get Mellow and a couple other pieces.
You look like a new young Golden State.
You rebuilding.
And you fast-tracking your rebuilding.
I don't think Golden State fans are up with that.
You're getting a LaMelo ball.
You're not getting something mediocre.
You're getting LaMelo.
A triple-double guy.
You'll send Steph to Charlotte.
Right now, Steph?
No, no.
I'm saying, like, say a year or two.
Yeah.
You wonder why Paul George wanted a goddamn no-trade call.
This motherfucker talking about sending Steph Curry to Charlotte.
Back home.
Send him back home.
Send him back home.
That man to retire before he goes to Charlotte.
Send him back home.
Nah, that ain't my home.
Yeah, it is.
Nah, nah, nah.
Nah, that ain't my home.
Steph don't be in Charlotte.
Yeah, fucking Charlotte.
You send me to Charlotte?
This is why people put trade clauses in, so they don't get sent to Charlotte on the back end of their career.
Well, Steph should have one.
I don't understand.
I mean, I don't know what Gordo's stage doing.
He didn't ask for one.
He didn't need to.
I mean, that's what I'm...
Where am I going?
You get killed.
Your fan base will...
You trade me, you look goofy.
Just like with Kurt.
I mean, with Clayton, you couldn't trade him.
At some point, you got to go, right?
Yeah, but you don't, that caliber, though.
I want to hear that shit.
So at some point, you got to go.
How old is he?
So the Lakers traded Kobe?
How old is he?
So the Lakers should have traded Kobe?
36.
So the Lakers should have traded Kobe?
37 next to...
They were going, that's why they told him to retire.
Because like, Kobe, you either retire or trade you.
The Lakers are going... You either retire, you either retire or trade you. The Lakers are going to...
You either retire or we're going to trade
you.
The Lakers would have never traded Kobe.
That's why he retired.
That's why they made him retire.
He was done. No, he wasn't.
It's over. No. Kobe was not done.
Kobe was not done.
You just said he had 60 on his way out.
He had 60 on your way out. How could you be done? On his farewell tour, I was in not done. You just said he has 60 on his well. He can barely play 60 on your way out
I could be done right on this farewell tour. I was really done
Kobe's for which I was in league because he came Detroit. Hey, how could you be bro? He was hurt, bro
He was barely in me another year. He barely finished the games, bro
Give me a year to recover
Let me cut. Let me my he's done.. He couldn't even play half the first world tour.
Goose!
He was goose!
Kobe was done.
Bro, I was hurt, bro.
I saw Kobe. I said, bro,
Kobe was done, bro.
Kobe was done, bro.
His body was tired.
Start making him documentaries, man.
I'm going to tell you what Steph is going to say.
You trade me to Charlotte, I'm retiring, Charlotte.
Oh, God.
Yeah, we plan on that.
That's what we're going to do that for.
So you can retire.
Yeah, you're going to trade your asset and get nothing because I'm not playing for y'all.
I'll retire before I play for Charlotte and put my brand in Charlotte.
I'll retire. Charlotte a nice city. Nah. Stop. Not better than that. play for Charlotte and put my brand in Charlotte.
I'll retire.
Charlotte a nice city.
Nah.
Stop.
Not better than that. It's a great city for training camps.
That's where he came from.
It's a great city for training camps
when you don't need nothing to do,
just focus on getting in shape.
So why would LaMelo Ball stay there then?
He got no choice.
He got no choice.
He young.
He got no choice.
And he ain't got no leverage.
He need his bag.
He can't go up in there and be like,
hey, Charlotte, I want this. You ain't did nothing yet. I need my bag
first, sir. I need my bag.
Give me my bag and then we can talk.
Back to the Steph point,
you feel like Steph rides this out regardless
of what happens with this franchise?
He did. He gave the city what they needed.
I'm not talking about Steph.
We know he has great basketball left to play, but
does there come a point when you're Steph and you want to keep winning
Right four is not enough. You've already had four championships. I want five
What are y'all doing to help me facilitate? I'm gonna do what they do to every superstar. Yeah, ah
Shit we had them you want this guy? Okay, we're about to negotiate
He was almost.
Almost got it.
Damn.
Almost got it.
Now you got them doing interviews.
Well, we offered him this, but he wanted this. They didn't want to trade him.
Not for sure.
Just like they did Clay.
Clay was like, I tried to sign for a two-year 40.
Golden State was like, yeah, we had some other shit in plan.
Damn, is that our bad?
They're just going to do that the whole time.
Wait, hold on.
Mike Dunleavy got the job, huh?
Mm-hmm.
That's correct.
No, they put him in the bad spot.
Brandon, another person in the crosshairs.
But we talked about that.
Mike, come on, dog.
Put him in a bad spot.
Mike, come on, man.
I told you to get ruthless. Don't, man. I told you to get ruthless.
Don't get stupid.
I told you to get ruthless, not stupid.
You did.
I said he got to get...
He got ruthless.
Let him go.
No, ruthless means...
He let him go.
You said break it up.
I did.
You did.
No, I said you got to get...
Damn, I did.
Damn.
You did.
You definitely did.
You definitely said break it up. I. Damn, I did. Damn. You did. You did. Damn it, I did. Damn it, I did.
You definitely said break it up, G.
I did.
I did.
You definitely did.
Well, I guess you wanted it to be broken up the other way.
Another way.
Draymond goes to Klay.
Not like that.
Draymond go that way.
Draymond go that way.
You ring back.
Keep the splash, brother.
You sign Klay and then you ring back KD.
And then we just figure this thing out.
I wanted KD to come back to Golden State, honestly.
But I don't know what they, you know.
That would have been my plan for them.
Let Draymond go, you know what I'm saying, boom, boom, boom.
And then, yeah, you know, we sign Klay and then bring back KD.
At least I got my three shooters and at least I know they can play.
We can keep Looney, we can get a four.
But, yeah. Damn. So, we can get a four, but yeah.
Damn.
So, did not happen that way.
Suck.
Do have Kyle Anderson coming though.
Who?
Your buddy, Bill.
Who?
He's like a, yeah.
Wait, no, no, no.
Wait, who does?
The Golden State Warriors?
Yeah, they got Kyle.
Hell yeah.
They got Mr.
Hey, that's a little good move for them.
Lee Kyer, as he's known in China.
That's a little good move for them.
Bro, you know, like.
He playing in China?
Is he?
Is this China?
Yeah, he's with China.
I think so.
You're talking about slow-mo.
Slow-mo.
Slow shot.
Slow-mo.
He's starting too, huh?
It's Lee Kyer.
He's the best player on his team.
Bro, he needs to watch Bro's Diaz.
He said it.
Highlights.
Y'all know he's the best player on his national team?
Who?
Carnison. Where he from? He ain't from. He from America. He Asianall know he's the best player on his national team. Oh Kind of way from he from he from America a family say, huh? Oh, oh for real. Yes
Oh, he went over there and play a little business move. He's the best play over there
We kind of just saying he's the best he's the best player on his national team
Yeah Only He's the best player on his national team. Yeah. How much he have left?
He's in Asia.
He's the only Asian.
He have his four last year?
Yeah.
Oh, there's another.
There's somebody else.
Other than Kyle Anderson.
Oh, Jalen Green.
Oh, no, that's Filipino.
Jordan Clarkson and Jalen Green are Filipino.
So what are you saying?
I'm saying, yeah, man, we scared of him.
Ooh, we can't.
Ooh, no.
Ooh, no.
That's crazy, right?
When y'all be talking about these national teams, you got to play who?
First of all, he wouldn't be on the team.
First of all, he not even on the team.
I don't even know why you're doing that.
He's not even on the roster.
I don't even know why you're doing that, Gil.
I'm just saying, you got a dude who has four points on his NBA team.
He's the best player in the country.
And you say, we afraid of them.
It's literally like the Avengers.
It's literally like the Avengers.
The Avengers are going up against one villain at a time.
They're not going up against a team of villains.
It's five niggas against one nigga every time.
Of course you're going to win.
There ain't no other superhero.
It's just one guy.
It takes five of y'all to get one guy.
It's just like growing up, man.
Y'all gotta split the check five ways
every time y'all go out to dinner.
Amen.
Split it five ways, please.
Twelve ways.
That's it.
And there's one dude like,
I got it for everybody.
Yeah.
I got it.
I'm NBA.
I got Jerry on my load.
I got Jerry on my load.
We good. I know I got it. We good over here. You NBA. I got Jerry on my load. I got Jerry on my load. We good.
We good over here.
I know I got it.
We good over here.
You see all them niggas on the other side?
They got to do that.
We good over here.
You slap me, I go get my brothers.
What's happening?
What's happening?
That's what happened.
What's happening?
That's what happened.
My brother's here.
That's what's happening.
Oh, man, they're going to get big brawn in there.
I'm big brawn in them.
They're going to get big brawn in there.
What you going to say now?
So we haven't talked about the Buddy Hill move to the Warriors.
That's nice.
That's a good move.
That's good.
Buddy Hill, slow-mo, I mean.
De'Anthony and Melton.
This is all they.
What I'm saying is De'Anthony and Melton.
They got Melton and Hill?
Yeah.
You're doing good enough.
You're doing good enough.
But that takes up play.
That takes up play.
No, no, no.
That was a good one. But what I'm saying is you're doing good enough. But that takes up play. No, no, no, that was a good one.
But what I'm saying is you're doing your...
They bringing in enough pieces to look decent.
Yes, yes.
Like, you know, are you trying to build another championship team?
I mean, Paul George could have helped.
For sure.
And you're going to need another piece.
But right now, you're two stars away now.
Yeah. I'm surprised they didn't do the Paul George thing like try they try
What you know and shit what's so funny is?
Paul George had the leverage over that once clay side. Yeah, he could have he could have one clay side
I need all that money. You was gonna get him plus more
I think that you were there how to get him in a silent or that we had to get him in a signing trade. Had to get him in a signing trade. The whole issue.
Paul George would have been
in a signing trade.
No, no, Paul George.
Oh, they would have had.
Paul George, the Warriors
and Clippers would have had
to do a signing trade
and the Clippers were not
willing to do that.
Paul George would have
touched a lot of money
in San Francisco.
They didn't want to sign
and trade because they thought
Paul George didn't have
no equity anywhere else.
I think they were asking
That's what I was saying
with Philly.
If Philly don't be on the table, the equity is up in the air.
If Philly don't have the 212.
I'm signing Paul George if I'm going to the stadium.
Once Clay signed somewhere else,
they didn't have a sign-and-trade power anyway, right?
Nope.
All it takes is one person to mess up free agency.
There ain't nobody.
I asked you about free agency earlier.
Who else was left in free agency that the Warriors could get that could be like that caliber?
Other than, like, I don't know if it's Zach Levine.
Is that y'all?
Zach Levine.
Zach Levine.
And I'm saying that in my head, but it's like, it don't make sense.
Even though it's, you know, he's played athletic, all that shit, but it's like, you just picked up two shooters.
I mean, you need a slasher.
You need a slasher.
Laurie marketing a target that they're looking at.
I like that.
But now, if you just think about the original free agency going into it,
if we can get Paul George and Lori Markkinen.
You're different.
Now you're different.
You're different.
Yeah, we're talking.
Now, you know, like, going to get Lori Markkinen right now,
you're trying to save face for Curry in the future,
but it doesn't do anything.
It doesn't move the needle anymore.
What would you do that Kaminga for marketing?
I'm holding on to Kaminga for dear life.
Why?
Because he's young.
Because what?
He's young.
He's marketing?
He's assets.
No, fuck no.
He ain't that fucking good.
He's 22.
Yeah, I get it, but it's marketing.
If we can get him now
and we can keep
this train rolling,
I'm definitely
making that move.
But when the train
starts rolling,
you got nothing.
But you're not gonna
look back and be like,
oh, we should've kept him.
It's over, bro.
It's over.
That ain't a guy
you're gonna look back
and be like,
man, he turned into this.
Man, the same thing
with Shea.
God damn it.
They ain't the same guy.
God, God, damn it.
They ain't the same guy.
We don't know.
Chef, I'm Curry. I'm going back to that college mode
the last couple years.
Shoot that.
He needs to start averaging 30 again.
See, the problem with that is he's 35.
It's supposed to be getting
easier for him.
He has to average
31, 32 at his age. You're taking a year off.
That's a lot.
You're taking a year off his career.
I know.
But that's the position you're in now.
Even thinking about you saying that
and thinking about how hard it was for him with Klay struggling,
how it looked this year.
You've seen this nigga damn near cry.
Bro, that shit looked bad.
And then Draymond doing all the shit he was doing.
It make it harder for him when Draymond not playing
because he knows how to get it.
I'm surprised they cool like that.
Me too.
With all the shit he be doing?
I've been to cuss that nigga out so many
times. Well, I mean, off the court
everybody's different, right? So, you know,
we joke, we go crazy,
but out of this, we're
cool as hell. So, that's probably different.
But I just feel like I would feel a
certain way. Like, you know how Kobe felt a certain
way towards Shaq? Like disappointment?
But that was beef at the
beginning. This is, we
won four rings together.
Like, it's hard for me. Like,
what you're doing now, you've been
done it, and we won four rings. I can't
now say I'm mad at you because we're in a
losing situation. You being you.
You're doing it like that to take yourself
out the game. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
We was like, yo. You got suspended when we were up 3-1?
But that shit was necessary back then.
No, but what I'm saying is he's establishing himself, and it's necessary.
But what I'm saying is you don't have to establish it.
You were winning so much that the media didn't focus on it.
You could have got kicked out the series against OKC.
That, what he did against...
The dick kicking? Steven Adams. That could have, that, what he did against, um, the dick kicking?
The dick,
Steven Adams,
that could have cost them
going to the championship.
Right?
Because he would have been
suspended for that.
They let it slide.
They let it slide.
Then they come to the championship
and they're so,
it didn't look as,
it didn't look as,
but that's what I'm saying,
but natural emotion.
But you gave us,
but what I'm saying is,
you gave us,
you get,
you've done more good
than you've done bad.
So it's hard for me to, as a brother, to turn on you because you doing you. Yeah, I'm not saying. you gave us you get you've done more good and you've done bad So it's hard for me to as a brother to turn on you because you do it
Yeah, I'm not saying I can't look at you and I'm not saying turn on them
Yeah, but it's just kind of like a side eye though. It's kind of like oh, it's just kind of like alright
Like what am I getting like for the next 82 games in my like next year, right?
Like it I'm gonna get but isn't that like what I'm playing with right like I'm going to get. But isn't that the fun of playing with Draymond? I'm going to get four to eight suspensions.
Cool, I can deal with that.
Isn't that the fun of playing with Draymond?
You never know what to expect?
No, it's not.
That's what Clay said to him on the podcast.
He interviewed Clay.
He's like, man, you know, we know you do your thing,
but you know how hard it is when you're not out there?
Yeah.
You know how fucking difficult, like, and you're my brother.
I can say this to you in confidence
But man, it fucking hurts you could be a four-time NBA champ
But still you still gonna be like hey I left a lot like Kobe and Shaq left a lot on the table backs
Like like and then to look back at it you you you'll you'll be sick because it's like bro
I could have ran the table. Yeah, I got my four he goes got you got all you but it's just still like
Media it's just like as a person, like, yo, is that what you want to go through?
So you're saying Steph is looking at him that way because...
He's not looking at him, but he could be looking at him for the side eye, like, yo, man, like...
I mean, I would...
We could have really been doing a lot more damage than we've been doing if you just stay on your score.
Yeah, I mean, I would.
Steph, you know, Steph's personality, he just lets it go and keep going.
What I'm saying is when they're winning,
that narrative of Draymond's messing a teammate.
Yeah, but he's behaving when we're winning, though.
But he's behaving.
No, he's doing the same thing.
No, no, no.
What are you talking about?
No, it's totally true.
During them championships, how many?
It might have been.
When KD was there, they didn't have no issues.
How many texts did he get? Boom, boom. How many texts did he get?
Boom, boom.
Back to back.
How many texts did he get during the championship years, man?
The two.
Yeah, I remember.
The only media is pushing this narrative.
Think about it.
With Kobe and Shaq, who is pushing the narrative that whose team is this?
They didn't do that shit with Bird and whoever.
They didn't do that shit with Magic.
Because they never had a Kobe and Shaq.
They didn't do that shit with Isaiah.
It was Kobe and Shaq.
Isaiah.
They both averaged in 30.
They started this star versus star around 95, 96, man.
They never did whose team is this between Jordan and Pippen.
They never did that.
So the two best players from 95 on, right, from the 70s and the 80s, the 95,
the two stars played with each other the whole time.
Think about it.
Karl Malone and John Stockton, the two stars played.
Now we're in today's where the media is putting the two stars against each other.
So we don't get to see the legacy.
So when you say Kobe and Shaq cheated us, of course they did.
The NBA, the NBA put the media, put them against each other.
KD and Russ. Whose team is it?
You know, Russ' team or KD? Like, they're
doing it. Okay, but they did it to Mike
and they still won six? Who? Who did it to Mike?
The media. What did they do to Mike?
When did they say
Pippen? I mean, the owner.
That was the owner. I mean, no, the GM and then you got
Pippen and then you, it was a lot of
it was a lot of drama back then.... It was a lot of drama back then.
It was definitely a lot of drama back then.
He was on record saying, man, Scottie's just as good as Michael.
Just as good.
Just as good.
I mean, putting that out there is crazy.
He put that out there.
I mean, he's like, Michael is a hell of a scorer.
Don't get me wrong.
I'm not taking anything away from Michael on the defensive end,
but he's no Scottie Pippen.
On the defensive end. He's like Scottie.
Not only does Scottie defend, but he
rebounds and he passes
and he can score. No one said
Michael. Show me an article where they said
Pippen's number one.
Show me an article where they did the Jalen
Brown to Michael Jordan to Tatum.
No, that didn't happen until
95, dog.
They was not doing that.
I mean, we can look it up.
We got to go look at every article.
We ain't got it today.
You're talking about two dominant players.
With the Dream and Drexler.
They didn't do that.
I mean, because you knew.
You knew who the best player was.
They did not do that.
The best player was Akeem.
All Clyde was doing was just glide.
All he did was just glide. You got to understand, they did not do that. They did not do that. The better player was Akeem. All Clyde was doing was just glide. All he did was just glide.
They did not do that with the two-star players like they do now.
Whose team is it?
The Yonnas or the Danes?
They do it as soon as the game starts.
It's like they hate the idea of people playing together.
They hate that.
You got people coming up there like,
whose team is it?
Oh, oh, oh.
Oh, yeah, oh, yeah, oh.
The guy who been there the longest?
That shouldn't even be conversation, dog.
When did they start hating that, though?
I think about 96, 97.
Nah, it's a thing, Brandon.
They started it with Shaq and Penny.
They started back then with Shaq and Penny.
Of course, Shaq and Kobe.
They didn't do that to Tim Duncan and David
Robinson. Don't know why. They've been doing
it throughout the history of the world.
Okay, it's called territory.
I'm the king over here.
You're the king over there.
I won't over there.
So I gotta come over there
to get your kingdom.
Now that I'm over there,
if I say it's mine and you say okay,
it's my shit now.
It's my shit. I can
come over there and take your shit.
What the fuck are you talking about?
We're not talking about drug dealing in the streets.
Yes, we are. I'm talking about kingdoms.
I'm talking about territory.
I'm talking about all that.
We all play the same shit.
It's my corner.
If I want your corner,
I can come over to your corner
and challenge you for it.
How is that the same thing?
This is me in his corner,
me and my road dog,
you and your road dog.
You're not breaking us up.
You're coming here trying to destroy us.
We are a team.
One of y'all got the plug, the other nigga helping you push. Yes. You are the guy. He's the teammate.
Okay. That's what we've been saying. Mike was the main guy.
But Kobe and Shaq were both kingpins. There wasn't no lower guy.
It was Kobe and Shaq were both 30 a game. They were both It was Shaquille O'Neal
It was Shaquille O'Neal as a kingpin and Kobe was working his way up to be the number two option
He was working his way up to beat number two he was not number two when he came in
He was a bench player made an all-star game. They had to remove Eddie Jones
They had to move some pieces.
And then this is the guy.
He is your Robin right now.
And then the media started, do-do-do-do-do-do.
Then the Robin's like, shit, I'm Batman too.
And then that's where the, once you create the Robin as a Batman,
why wouldn't the Robin think he's Batman anymore?
They didn't.
That's what I'm saying.
They didn't.
Robin realized I'm doing just as much as Batman.
It wasn't the media that told him that.
It was the fact that I know I'm averaging 30 a game, too.
I'm carrying us in the playoffs, too.
I'm the most dominant guard in the NBA.
He's the most dominant big man.
We both Batman.
Okay, so why didn't that happen with Magic and Kareem?
That's what, because they didn't average the same.
Who didn't average the same?
Who team was that?
To this day, to this day, to this day, no one, you will have two sides fighting.
Who team was the Lakers team?
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, the captain.
That was his name.
His name was the captain.
Can you tell that to Magic Johnson and his fans?
Hell yeah.
Magic will tell you.
We don't know.
It was Caps.
I won finals MVP as a rookie, and then boom, boom, boom.
I got five rings.
I feel at some point.
At some point.
But the media didn't throw that in there for them to break up.
Because they didn't need to.
No, no.
Because we knew Caps was Caps.
No, but they threw it out there, though.
They did throw it out there between Magic and Kareem.
When?
What year?
When Magic was coming in.
So it's Kareem's team.
You don't think they were saying,
well, you know, it's Magic's team now.
Like, how do you feel?
They didn't do those narratives back then?
Yes, they did, bro.
Yes, they had to.
There's no way in hell you let an 18...
I'm Kareem Abdul-Jabbar,
this 18-year-old kid come in here,
win a ring, get finals.
Like, bro, the narrative is changing.
That wasn't basketball then.
That's this new shit, man.
First of all...
Somebody find some articles. Somebody got to find some articles. I know they was shit, man. First of all, the people who's doing it.
Somebody got to find some articles.
First of all, the people that's doing it, they wasn't even in the league.
For sure.
The people who are doing it today wasn't even analysts then.
They didn't know nothing about sports then.
You can't tell me it wasn't in the Boston Papers or the L.A. Papers.
For sure.
Dream and Magic maybe can't figure it out.
Who's number one?
Who's the... Come on. Joe Mark, Joe Dubars, and Isaiah. Them teams Papers. For sure. Dream and Magic maybe can't figure it out. Who's number one? Who's the...
Come on.
Joe Mark, Joe Dubars, and Isaiah.
Them teams didn't break up like that, man.
They was not fighting over...
Because there was one guy.
Because the media...
There was one guy.
There wasn't no three guys to choose from.
It was Isaiah.
The media was not playing that shit.
They didn't put them guys against each other, man.
They didn't have a reason to.
Yeah, you couldn't do it against Detroit against Isaiah.
It was Isaiah's team.
That's Detroit's Isaiah.
Shout out to Joe Dumars.
We know.
There's always a number one.
Hey, who was Utah?
Karl Malone.
Karl Malone.
100%.
Every time.
Every time.
And nobody never,
but we knew it was Karl Malone.
He was number two all-time scorer
for almost everything.
MVP and everything.
Yeah.
So he was the number,
so we identified who number one and number two is, right?
Yes.
So why are we having troubles figuring out who the goddamn number one and number two
is now?
With who?
Anyone.
We don't.
We know it right away.
We really don't.
We know right away.
In Boston, we don't really know who is the number one and number two.
We know right away.
So that does leave questions.
I don't think they know.
I know when I'm watching.
No, I don't think people know who number one is.
So that's why it's a question mark.
That's why they're going to keep doing that.
Well, you got one that is the face, right?
Tatum.
Tatum.
But then you got another one that's getting finals MVP.
It's a good question.
We don't know.
It's a good question.
We don't know.
We don't know.
We don't know.
We need y'all to tell us.
We can see it, but we need y'all to see it.
Because I know if they had them same rules when KD and Russ was there, we would know.
Huh?
Same rules?
Today.
Like, if you could get Western Conference finals and all that, we would know.
All right.
We would.
No, we wouldn't.
No, we wouldn't.
We would.
Because they never made it to the finals to even get that.
Yes, they did.
Yes, they did.
OKC did make it to the finals.
But what I'm saying is OKC.
OKBJ?
That was the KD.
That was the KD.
OKBJ?
That was the KD that year.
We don't know.
We don't know.
Russ is...
That year?
We don't know.
Russ Demeter, we don't know.
I mean, James Harden, we don't know.
He was six minutes.
We don't know.
You need to borrow your body bag.
That year?
What are you talking about?
That year?
That year when they went, yeah.
That was KD.
All KD.
What are you talking about?
I mean, but James was not... I'm just saying,'m saying a western conference finals we don't know who would have
got it right i know because the mvp i know what you're saying because it's it's set in stone that
yo you can win this award yeah we don't know now the mvp is done the mvp is done now okay yeah i
could definitely go get this telling you i just i mean ego like facts it's the way they play the
demeanor.
Yep.
If I know it's two MVPs, well, actually, it's three MVPs now.
You got the regular season MVP, the Western Conference, the Eastern Conference, and then
the finals MVP.
So, it depends on where you want to measure yourself at.
Hey, I go get both of these?
I go get both of these?
And all I got to do is play four games?
Shit.
Play good for four games?
17, 27, 10, 7.
For sure.
Back then.
For sure.
If that was happening, it's a different type of.
You see the picture he had when KD was holding that MVP trophy up,
that look on his face?
Yeah.
That's mine, man.
But that's what I'm saying.
Anybody that was.
If we had the same rules like we did today, back then,
it would be totally different MVPs and Western Conference, Eastern Conference.
Man, you got four games just to go get it?
For sure, I'm getting it.
That's good.
While you're doing that research, you asked...
And Kevin and KD, just so we can see who the one.
KD, 27, 31, 22, 36, 27, 34.
Yeah, we know who won it.
Who would have won it?
No, for sure.
I mean.
No, no, it's not for sure.
It's for sure.
No, no, no.
He would have won that.
No, no, no.
He won that.
But listen.
27.
The MVP is not in everybody's mindset, though.
22, 36, 27.
You hear what I'm saying?
You understand what I'm saying?
34.
If you know that it's an Eastern Conference Finals
or Western Conference Finals MVP and you can win this,
what do you want to do?
You're going for it.
We don't know.
We're just saying if we're going to give it to somebody back then,
we know who gets it.
I mean, you're just playing to get to the finals.
But what BJ's saying is that Russ is going to up his play
knowing I can potentially get it.
A lot of players would, too.
Throughout the whole year, KD performed like an MVP.
I can't take that away from him.
But these four games?
Jalen Brown didn't perform like an MVP all year.
But when that shit counted, oh.
Yeah, he went and got it.
Oh, yeah.
I can get this MVP and this one.
Bad.
I'm going to go get it.
Bad.
I'm going to go get this.
And that should be every player mindset.
When I get to the playoffs
I don't care about regular season. I can get MVP now and again
To go back
The score 7 10 12 in the in the in the semi-final it came just sorry it wouldn't went to him
I'm just saying when One nigga averaged 31.
Sorry.
It could have went to James.
Yeah.
Off the bench?
Let's see what James averaged
off the bench.
He iced that nigga out.
One averaged 31.
We're talking about,
you can't say what would have happened
if we were,
what they did in that moment.
The Western Conference fight,
Eastern Conference,
the Western Conference fight,
this is what they did.
One dude averaged 31.
That's why they lost.
No, they didn't.
They lost.
They went to the championship.
What are you talking about?
They lost in the championship.
We're talking about going to the championship.
These were their stats going there.
So if we can give the trophy to one person, he gets the trophy.
Kevin Durant.
And the finals MVP.
We're not talking about the finals MVP.
That's what we've been talking about this whole time.
No, he's talking about the one before.
No, I'm talking about the Western Conference finals, right? about the finals MVP. That's what we've been talking about this whole time. No, he's talking about the one before. No, I'm talking about the Western Conference finals, right?
And the finals MVP.
I'm saying if that trophy was known that you can get this and this.
Hypotheticals, man.
They would have played different.
We're talking about, oh, they would have played different.
You can't do that.
We're saying what they did during that time.
Because the guy who averaged 31, he could have averaged 38.
What the fuck are we talking about?
We want to just sit there and throw stuff.
I mean, I don't know.
He don't leave if he don't.
James Harden, 19, 15, 11, 20, 16, 30.
He would have been second option.
He would have been Western Conference Finals MVP, probably.
That's what I'm saying.
James off the bench.
With these stats?
If he's averaging that just by knowing.
If that trophy is known that you can get that.
We're talking about his stats now
this is what we have
you're missing the point
you're using hypothetical
you're doing the same numbers
we can't use hypotheticals
because if you say
if this was what happened in
the best player would have turned it up
every conversation we have
I'm talking about if the
trophy was given to that
team. Kobe would have had a bunch of Western
if we would have gave it to somebody
that that was on that
team at that moment with their stats. Kevin
Durant. There was no Westbrook yet.
He didn't turn into Westbrook yet.
It was all Kevin Durant. He
busted every round
as that's what he did. This is not a hypothetical. It wasn't just him though. He busted every round's ass. That's what he did.
This is not a hypothetical.
It wasn't just him, though.
It wasn't just him.
This wasn't a hypothetical.
That's what we're talking about.
We're talking...
You're talking about what if the trophy was there.
No, we're not talking about what if the trophy was there.
We're saying the mentality that would have changed...
Would have.
Would have.
If they know I can win this award,
I'm going to play different.
Oh, me too.
That's what we're talking about.
If this was an award, I would average 50.
Isn't that what you're talking about?
Okay, I would average 50.
You're a little 25, wouldn't do it.
I would average 50 then.
You see how stupid it sounds?
No, it don't.
I would average 75.
I'm the point guard.
I'm the point guard.
Why do we waste our time?
I'm the point guard, right?
This is your third year in the NBA.
Why are we wasting our time talking about this?
The nigga MVP averaged 31.
Shut up.
Why did KD leave?
Because I wanted to go win a championship.
No.
He left because Russell Westbrook was saying,
this is my team.
This ain't his team.
This is my team.
KD like, man, you tripping?
I'm KD. You tripping, Russ. No, I mean, KD's a safer, like, you tripping that's why i'm kd you know i mean katie's a safer like
you know katie don't like confrontation so he don't want none of that man and then i mean he
left no no he left because as far as like you know going back and forth with his team like he's trying
to hoop like you know that's fair like he don't think about what his point he's making is the
point he's making is russ attitude for the reason KD left
would have went even higher
knowing I could win that.
No, you wouldn't have.
It's the same reason why he left go to state.
Because of Draymond.
Competitive.
It's too much.
It's like, chill out.
I'm just here to hoop.
Like, why are you doing all that?
Yeah.
And that's okay.
Russ didn't turn into that dude
that this is my team
until KD got hurt that year.
That was the same year.
No, it was not the same year.
First of all, Russ work was always built as a dog and was always going to be that.
When Kevin Durant only played 27 games that year, that's when Russ turned into Russ.
He had the team by himself.
Russ turned into Russ when that draft came and nobody wanted to work out with Russ.
What year was it that we're talking about?
That's when Russ came into Russ. that draft came and nobody wanted to work out with Russ. What year was it that we talking about? That's when Russ came into Russ.
What year did it?
When niggas was ducking Russ in a goddamn draft workout because they didn't want to work out with Russ.
2011-12.
That's when Russ became Russ.
And Russ knew these niggas are scared of him.
Russ is 23.
Yes.
23 a game.
Uh-huh.
You say he wasn't Russ.
Russ, Russ, Russ.
He was not Russ yet.
So the Russ that was with Kevin Durant, that was the Russ.
That was the Russ.
23 a game with Kevin Durant. That was when we started seeing Russ be Russ.
Western Conference Finals, KD averaged 38, 5 assists.
What's that again?
38 rebounds, 5 assists.
Harden averaged 19.6 rebounds, 4 assists.
Westbrook averaged 18.6 rebounds.
So who wins the finals and who wins the MVP again?
Why are we playing stupid?
They just make shit up.
They just say shit.
We just literally just went over that.
We just did. Oh, if I had played harder for the trophy.
We just literally went. Why do we keep doing that?
Like, why do we keep doing that? There was a trophy
there to get. It would have motivated everybody.
Oh, he would have went from 18 to what, 22?
What the fuck does the best player do
if there's a trophy there? He goes from what to what?
If I'm Westwood. He goes from what to what?
I got to get you the ball, Kevin Durant.
The reason you left is because I'm Westwood. He goes from what to what? I gotta get you the ball, Kevin Durant. The reason you left is because
I'm doing my thing
now.
He left five years later.
I got it. Five
years later, dog. I got
it. KD on the
sports table like, yo, what is Russ doing?
Russ, you wildin'.
Russ, you wildin'. He left the next
year. I remember watching.
He left five years later.
Oh, my God.
What are you talking about?
When it went to the finals.
Oh, my God.
These niggas wildin'.
It's crazy.
And on that note, let's move on to Mostly Fans.
Hold on.
What a show.
This is a great thing.
This is how you start a Monday night.
We're getting ready for Vegas. We're all off the house. We're getting ready for Vegas. That's all it is. Man, this is great. This is how you start a Monday night weekend.
We're getting ready for Vegas.
We're all hot, though!
We're getting ready for Vegas.
That's all it is.
Send the gentleman's cut, Steph.
That's all it is.
Send it.
Hey, Steph, you better have one when I get there.
Where my shovel at?
So, Kevin Durant...
You better bring me the shovel.
So, when Westbrook turned into Westbrook...
You better have two boxes.
Where the headstone at?
Where the headstone?
When Westbrook turned into Westbrook, the year before Kevin Durant won the 2013-2014, Kevin Durant was the MVP, right?
He got hurt, played 27 games in 2014-2015.
Russell Westbrook, during the year Kevin Durant won the MVP, he averaged 21 points a game.
Right?
He played 46 games.
And then, and then, and then, Kevin Durant.
Hold on, man.
Stop that.
When Kevin Durant was out, Westbrook jumped up from 21 to 28.
He averaged 28 and 8.
That's when Westbrook said, this is me.
He played 67 games.
This is me.
You played 27.
He went from 46 games to 67 games because that was the year he got hurt.
Yes, he came back and averaged 28.
He's by himself.
That's when Russell Westbrook felt, I'm the man now.
I averaged 28 a game.
This is what I can do without you.
That's when the conflict started.
He would have went higher the year before if he didn't get hurt.
The year before?
46 games that he played.
He averaged 21 points again.
He averaged 21 points.
He only played 46 games.
And he averaged 21.
He still has 40 more games to play.
He averaged 21, dog.
I'm the MVP.
He's the one's the MVP.
He averaged 28 points because the MVP is out.
And averaging 28, he is the man.
It's hard to go backwards after that.
He did go backwards after that.
It's hard to go back, but they clash. No, he went backwards after that. He did go backwards after that. It's hard to go back, but they clashed. No,
he went backwards after that. And they clashed
and that's when he got traded. Yo, he was
gone when he had averaged 28.
Who? KD was gone.
KD was gone? When he averaged 28.
You said KD was gone. KD was injured!
28!
And then the next year, he averaged 23.
He averaged 23, right?
And then what happened? You said he couldn't go backwards.
When did he happen?
Viva Las Vegas.
Then KD left.
Then KD left.
KD came back. KD averaged what?
28 again.
That was pissing Russ off. Then KD left.
And that year was what?
2015?
2015?
2015?
What's that?
The only time you do when you're losing?
Is that what you do when you're losing?
Wait, wait, wait.
Wait, where'd you get those?
Hold on.
Hold on.
Is that what you do when you lose?
Go, make your point.
Is that what you do when you lose?
Katy is the MVP.
Hold on. Katy is the MVP. Let's go. Let's go. Katy is the MVP. Is that what you do when you lose? Katie is an MVP. Where he getting this from?
Hold on. Katie is an MVP.
Let's go. Let's go. Katie is an MVP.
Is that what you do when you lose?
Katie is an MVP. You average 21.
I get hurt the very next year as Katie.
You average 28.
We both come back.
I average 28 again.
You average 23.
Then I leave.
Now you go average a triple-double.
And an MVP
after I leave because we had the bickering
the year I came back. You averaged 28.
I was gone. We both came
back the next year. That's when the beef started
on whose team this really was.
I averaged 28. You averaged 23.
That was the whole point of the whole conversation.
And then I left. The bickering happened because
it's my team, bro. I don't feel like I'm regulating to you. And then I left. The bickering happened because it's my team, bro.
I don't feel like I'm regulating to you.
And if I'd known that the MVP could be gotten like this type,
I would have went and got it because I feel like it's my team.
This is four years later, dog.
What is he talking about?
That's why he left.
Four years later, he left because the nigga still feel this way.
He didn't feel this way until the year before we not got hurt.
Then I just say that.
I said,
I won the MVP.
KD won the MVP.
You're number two.
KD gets hurt the next year.
Now the team is yours.
You averaged 28.
You got a taste
of that Wagyu.
Now the following year
comes back.
I'm healthy.
Now your ass got to eat
regular steak again
and I'm back to Wagyu. And you're like, no.
Just like you're shaking your head. No.
I don't want this anymore. Me and you
bickered the whole year. I bounce.
That's what happened.
The Wagyu tacos from Manobu are amazing.
Once he got a taste of the Wagyu,
he needed it. That's what happened.
Life-changing, bro. We appreciate you for blessing us.
But when you talking about the once-in-a-lifetime
MVP, that was four years before. That was when we was 23.
You wasn't even established yet as a man.
You averaging 18, boy, you a little puppy.
You didn't get a taste until I went out.
You a little pup-pup. Relax.
Who left?
Five years later.
Who left? Which pup-pup left?
One championship.
Tell me which pup-pup left.
Which puppy left and left home?
Now that it's just a fucking stray.
Championship.
Going from fucking backyard to backyard.
Same shit.
What the fuck you talking about?
Same as you.
You fucked up my yard.
You fucked up my yard.
Thank you.
You fucked up my yard.
Now you want to fuck up my yard because you can't take it on.

We needed it.
Let's set the mood right.
What a hostile day in the arenas.
Steph, please send the gentleman's cut.
He should be in Vegas when we're there.
He should have about seven pages.
Are they still going to be there?
Yeah, because they play Wednesday, right?
Oh, wait, this Wednesday?
They play this Wednesday. I believe they play the 15th. I don't know where that 15th game is. Well, they'll still be there? Yeah, because they play Wednesday, right? Oh, wait, this Wednesday? They play this Wednesday.
I believe they play the 15th.
I don't know where that 15th game is.
Well, they'll still be there when we're there.
I know he got cases of it.
At least a little overlap so we can get the case.
All right.
So our question, a little overlap still.
Just leave it in the lobby.
We'll figure it out.
Underdog user TM-Mac001.
At what point in time did y'all become comfortable with the league?
Like the pace, the physicality, the scoring.
Like when did you guys become comfortable?
And what did that do for you guys' game as players? Because all of you guys were pretty damn good in the league.
So when did you guys become comfortable in the league?
I'd say that third year.
Third year?
Yeah.
I'd say that third year for me.
Me, I was, I was, the second year I got a little taste of it but I was still using speed.
Third year they put me into offense. Oh. No, second year I I got a little taste of it, but I was still using Speed. Third year, they put me into an offense.
Oh.
No, second year, I was at Golden State.
No, you were Speed.
Oh, okay.
You was awesome.
I was awesome.
What you did this weekend?
I was like, damn, get with you.
I enjoyed myself.
My third year, kind of like...
With a pina colada.
My third year, we got put into a new offense.
So I kind of struggled in that. I'll say that for me, it took me about the fourth year where it was more dominant.
For sure.
Where I knew, okay, I can do whatever I want.
Other than that, it was just more athleticism and speed.
Still raw to the game.
Okay.
So by year four, everything was...
For me, yeah.
So how about yourself?
Three. Second year, everything was... For me, yeah. So how about yourself? Three.
Second year, I was hurt.
Microfracture.
So I remember Grant Hill telling me I needed to take the whole year.
Don't rush it.
It's going to take you at least a year to get back.
So by that next season, getting comfortable with Coach calling your number,
knowing what the plays is and how many minutes you're going to get.
It was just more of an understanding
and having experience going through the first year to the third year,
knowing the ups and downs.
You could play, couldn't play, coming off the bench, starting,
whatever the case may be.
I think it worked, I think.
By the third year, you understand what you need to do
to sustain and make it in the league and
try to stay in the good graces of the team and all that kind of stuff
and then Brendan how about yeah I'll say third year um I mean rookie year was just like a lot
going on so it was I couldn't really grasp a lot because I was rookie and it was asked me to do a lot so I didn't really kind of
Like it just went by like a blur in the second year. I had I had broke my foot
And that was the year I was actually supposed to be an all-star
I was leading the league the team in a lot of all the categories before I got broke my uses my second year
What year was this? My second year. What year was that, though?
11.
11?
Yep.
When I tore my foot,
I was leading the team and everything.
And then... Your team?
Yeah.
Rebounds, assists, and...
Go look at it.
Go look at it.
When I was hurt,
I was leading the team and everything.
Go look at it.
I fucking hate this dude.
No, what I'm saying is
he started off like,
yeah, I was supposed to be
All-Star this year.
I mean, no, I was. And then he said I got hurt. And then he said I got hurt by team. No, I mean... I thought he started off like, yeah, I was supposed to be All-Star this year. I mean, no, I was.
And then he said, I meant my team.
So I thought he was going to say the league.
I thought he was, too.
I don't know my team.
I mean, I'm just saying.
I was watching his mouth.
He was.
No, not the league.
No, not the league.
No, no, no.
My team.
He's like, I let my team go fast.
I said, he do that.
He's like, wait, wait, wait, wait.
Wait, what?
Yeah, he always, yeah, he always doing that. He always trying to do that shit. He's like, wait, wait, wait, wait. Wait, what? Wait, wait. That's not right.
Yeah, he always doing that. He always trying to do that shit.
It's like he's not really listening to you.
Yeah, I know.
And then you say some shit like, oh, wait, you was the lead in this and that?
He was waiting for you to say something.
Yeah, wait.
Wait.
No, that's not what you heard, dog.
No, relax.
That's not what you heard, bro.
That's not what you heard.
Because my second year, that's when All-Star Weekend was in L.A.
Remember, that's when Blake Griffin jumped over the thing, right?
So I was, I thought, and then my third year, I started feeling more comfortable.
I came back.
I think that was, like, my highest, my career average, like 19.
Yeah.
Oh, so you didn't even get a chance to really, like, when it becomes easy.
Yeah.
So, like, my second year was becoming easy because
it but then i got hurt december and then like we were like in the fifth sixth spot um i mean we
were still cooking like we were still going then i got hurt i missed like two months and then
you know you know when they're coming back y'all got see y'all got hurt so early y'all didn't get
that feeling where like where luca is in shade right now. Yeah, yeah. It's too comfortable.
Where it's like, oh, this is like,
this becomes easy.
Like, there's a time where it was my,
probably, your average 29,
that year when the game just becomes so easy.
Because from there,
it's now you're old enough to understand your spots yep and now you're
just you're not doing all the dumb shit anymore right you're not coming off the screen you just
you're just scoring yeah yeah yeah you're scoring so much then it becomes too easy and that's where
you got the james hard and the luca where they're just sitting there dancing because they're bored
and the difference is you don't get to see what you do when you're out there.
No.
You don't get to see what I see.
Yeah.
So I'm seeing how easy it looks for you.
I'm like, that's why the affinity for me for certain players that I respected,
I'm like, he was the hardest nigga to guard.
He was the hardest.
If I wanted to take something from his game, I would take it from him.
Him and Gil was one of those guys that's like, you're watching him play he was the hardest. If I wanted to take something from his game, I would take it from him.
And Gil was one of those guys that's like,
you watching him play and it's coming so natural and it's so easy that it's like,
he not even making facial expressions.
He not even like cussing anything out or nothing.
He just out there flowing.
So, yeah, we never got that niche.
But I knew, I felt a little bit of it.
I felt a little bit of 14 a game,
26 minutes, 79 games, off the bench.
Bro, if I'm starting and I'm getting that comfort.
See, that's what I'm saying.
When you get to that third back then, like 38, that 38 to 41 minutes.
Incredible.
And I'm not taking, I'm efficient, so I'm not shooting 20-something shots.
My second year, I had, like, vets that I didn't get along with.
Like, I had Chris Douglas Roberts.
I had Eric Boykins.
I had Drew Holiday.
I had Keon Dooling.
I had Corey Maggette.
Like, my second year, like like the GM at the time,
he traded Kirk Thomas and Luke Rittenhour, all these guys away
because he just felt like they were old and, you know, Kirk couldn't do it.
But that's what was helping me, though.
Like, you know, we say, like, GMs, don't be knowing what's helping me.
Like, those bets were helping me.
Like, having a Jerry Stackhouse, having a Luke Rittenhour,
having a, you know, a Kirk Thomas in my locker room just made it easier for me.
Because it's like, yo, I got vets that if I ain't on, like, they going to, you know what I'm saying, got my back.
They probably thought you was ready, though.
Huh?
They probably thought you was ready to just build around you.
Yeah, but you're bringing in vets that are still in competition with me.
Yeah.
That are still trying to get a paycheck.
And that's just what it was.
I'm not saying they're bad guys.
But these are guys
that are still playing
for contracts.
You got Drew Gooden.
Trying to prove
that you don't deserve it.
Yeah, you know, yeah.
Still trying to be like,
yo, we a better team.
It's like, well,
we were winning
when I was the guy.
So I never really got,
and then when I was
getting that opportunity
toward my Achilles again.
Damn.
So it was... Ooh! Hold on, breaking Achilles again. Damn. So it was.
Hold on, breaking news, Zubac.
The bar fight.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Wait, huh?
With each other?
Nah, I think they was together.
Damn.
Dude just came here.
He just got picked up by the club.
Sorry, yeah.
Wait, what happened?
Yeah, they in there with.
What's the national guilt, man?
They in there whooping ass, baby.
They getting something back.
But, ladies and gentlemen, we got to call it a day
because we've got game three.
Gil's all-time squad taking on Rashad's all-time squad
in NBA 2K simulation.
I've really been Googling to see which LeBron
I actually do need.
You can't change a guy now?
No chill, Gil.
I can change my LeBron.
Still LeBron. Still the same LeBron.
You can change my LeBron. Still LeBron. Still the same LeBron. I can judge my LeBron.
Wow!
Gil, are we cheating you?
Gil, you got three minutes to make it happen.
That is cheating!
You got three minutes to make it happen.
That is literally cheating.
How is that cheating?
Because you subbing a player.
The rosters are set.
Wait a minute.
When the rosters are set, we realize we have the wrong players.
Right?
We gave you all your 97s.
You did you too.
You did you too.
No, you did you too.
You did you too.
You did you too.
You did you too.
You did you too. You did you too. You did you too. set, we realized we had the wrong players.
Right?
We gave you all your 97s.
You did you, too.
No, but I kept saying.
And you kept the LeBron you got.
No, I didn't know which LeBron.
You lying.
You kept the LeBron you got.
Now you want to change to the Cleveland LeBron.
You a cheater.
You a cheater.
I want the Miami LeBron, the 2012 LeBron.
There you go.
Listen to you.
That's is cheating.
And this has been another episode
of Gills Arena presented by Underdog Fantasy.
Woo woo!
We will see y'all tomorrow.
Hey, Rashad, stay at home.
