All right, well, let's keep this thing moving. Now let's get to some real basketball. So the defending champion Thunder and Rockets tipped off NBA season on Tuesday night. As the NBA on NBC made its return to the league after more than two decades, OKC and reigning MVP, Shea Gildes Alexander, taking on Kevin Durant in his rocket's debut back in his old stomping grounds. The Rockets rolled out the tallest starting lineup in NBA history for an opening night with an average height of more than 6 feet 10. While the Thunder were without all-NBA wing, Jalen Williams, as they received their rings and unveiled their 2025 championship banner, the game did not disappoint.

It was not without some controversy as the rocket gets tricked off the fourth quarter lead, and SGA hit a huge bucket in the final moments of regulation to send it to overtime. So we pick up the action late in the second overtime after a case in Wallace three, gave the Thunder a one-point lead. Let's take a look at some of the highlights. So, yeah, the Little Men Remainty, KD drove to the cup, got the bucket in the foul, put the rockets up to. He finished with 29, 23 and 9 boards, but only have five points in the fourth quarter and overtimes combined. SGA responded with the snatchback jumper on the Thunder's next possession to tie things up.

A moment's later. The Rockets down one. Shangoon caught on the wing, drove in for the bucket with 11 seconds ago, doing his thing. And with the game on the line, it was the past versus the present. SGA versus KD. SGA baited KD into the foul. KD6 foul, fouled out the game. The MVP proceeded to hit two free throws to give his squad the one-point lead.

the Rockets did have a chance to get the win with 2.3 seconds remaining. But Jabari Smith, jumper, ooh, no good. So, Thunder pick right back off where they left off last season. SJ was limited to five points in the first half, but scored 24 of his 35 points in the fourth quarter and overtime pairs to get the Thunder the win. Chad Homer and also had a big night, 28.7 boards. A.J. Mitchell came through with 16 points off the bench. Six-time and opening night game went to double overtime first since 2005.

So the return of NBA on NBC, the pompous circumstance, NBA on NBC was a little bit shaky. They're a pregame show, but that first game of the night definitely delivered. How special was it to have a game of this magnitude on opening night to relaunch the NBA on NBC? Talking the first game, we're not talking about the night gap. I mean, I think we're just happy that NBA is back. I mean, I don't think we care what platform is on. You know, maybe it'd have been on Telemundo, we was watching. We were watching on Telemundo, me, Amiga.

It's Katie versus Shane. Like, we were watching, like, NBA's back. I mean, I know NBC has it. Man, you know, obviously, you know, it's learning experience for them that this is not 1990, right? You got to get with the times, but, you know, they tried, and, you know, they're going to keep trying. But it was amazing.

I mean, for opening night to go to double overtime. Both teams had a chance to seal it. Both teams made mistakes. If you're going in a locker room, if you're Houston, you're saying, dang, we could have did this better, right? Like, these are the little details that could have won a game. Oki is saying the same thing. If they were the loss, you know, the game was that good

where, you know, miss free throws count, bad box out, bad, you know, foul. Like, you know, these guys were playing at that type of level on game one. That's a great way to start the NBA season. Katie had a chance to put the Rockets up three near the end of regulation, missed that free throw, made a two-point game. SJ obviously came down, hit the bucket

to tie things up in Mr. B, the nostalgia, the pageantry, NBA on NBC back, had this game to kick it off? I mean, okay, see, they got kind of lucky, man. You know, if Chet and Wallace don't come out and play in the way Chet was playing earlier, because they didn't really play good in the first half at all. You know, towards the fourth quarter, of course,

SGA became itself again. But, you know, Thompson, he filed out. But, I mean, Houston, they had it. I mean, I feel like if Houston, you know, if Katie don't file out, Thompson, don't get hurt. You know, I think, you know, Houston, they go in there. They upset them, first game. Okay, you're watching that game.

Obviously, you played a lot of games back in the day, NBA on NBC, the nostalgia. What was it like for you just to see? The return with a game of that magnitude with the Thunder and Rock is going to double overtime. I don't care what channel it's on, bro. Like, basketball, man. Let it be no.

Like, yeah, I don't, I don't, I don't do nothing for me. Like, I don't, it was a really good game. Like, it don't care what, like Gil said, I don't care what platform you put it on. Open day, first game of the season, guys get their rings, go to double overtime, get some good bump day one. test guys endurance day one

I know dudes in cold tubs and all that today you're not expecting day one to go to double overtime your lungs ain't ready for that your body ain't ready for that so but no it was a good game but the platform that is on I could care less well Jeff you guys all played obviously several years

in the NBA so Swaggy what's that NBA opening night feeling for you What's that experience, like getting back on the court, getting back into action after a long off season? For me, I was a little nervous for O.C., because I remember Ring Night with us, it was like, it was a little overwhelming, like emotional, getting your rings and stuff. He wasn't really, it takes the focus off the game a little bit when you get your rings and all that. Everybody's showing off waving to, you know, clapping hands and showing their moms and parents in the crowd and stuff. Some stuff people don't experience. It's like the little things when you get your rings.

So, but then you have to snap back into game mode, like, you got to snap back into getting buckets. A lot of people lose on game, on ring night. Yeah. We did. We lost to Houston. I remember that. But, yeah. So even after that championship experience, coming back in that game, just emotional.

Yeah, yeah. That's how I look at the first half. That's how I look at the first half for. Yeah, for sure. So that's why I was, when I was betting, I was, that was in the back of my mind. But overall, it was a great game. I don't really pay attention to what channel was on. I don't answer your question.

Oh, getting ready for game night? I'm just being back on the court. As an NBA champion, Swaggy, that experience you have, your own bobblehead. Yeah, you know. With a trophy. But you get excited, man. You probably don't get your game day nap on.

I did have a controversial moment near the end of the first overtime. with the score tied. Let's take a look at this play. Oh, shit, man. So game title 115, Katie, secures the rebound. Appears to call it timeout, can you? Appeared.

They didn't call it playing. Play was unreviewable. We do have this angle of it, though. He looked to call it timeout. I think Jabari Smith looked to call a timeout, too. Obviously, the Thunder were up in arms. Oh, he definitely Chris Webber. That thing was.

Play wasn't reviewable after the game. The Thunder, head coach Mark Dagnall, and SGA, both called Cap on crew chief Zach Zarbis saying none of the refs saw KD try to call that timeout. But they looked in the way. No, he didn't. No, he didn't see nothing. But even if he tries to call it, I mean, they can review it. None of them see it in real time.

It's the play not review. They can't review that. But even if they did review it, if they didn't see it in real time, why does it matter? I mean, because that's normally a thing. But you can't review it. And if the clock ain't at zero, and he's doing this? No, what if I'm saying? If I'm sitting here trying to call a timeout, but they're all behind me.

They weren't all behind them, though. But that's what the guys are. But did the reps see him calling the time? They looked away. Three refs on the floor. That's how you do. We ain't got them all. Lady, you ain't got no timeout, dog.

Got to get your streaming game right. Now, you know what the funny thing is? Nobody noticed but me, because I was still on the OKC feed, that they did an interview after the game with Chet Holn. So I guess NBC, they're doing interviews outside in the arena when everybody leaves about 20, 30 minutes after.

Yeah, I don't know who's going to be watching that channel still, brother, but y'all can save those because ain't nobody watching that, man. You probably had four, five people, man, that went to go use the restroom, came back, and it was still on that channel. Other than that, man, nobody's, we're going on to the next game. Nobody's sitting there to see what the interview's about. We're going on to the next game. You've got to do that right after the game.

Because the Lakers are playing? Yeah. Yeah, it's it's one of those things unless it's the last game like it's if it's the last game maybe But because it's a double header you're oh yeah you're 30 this interview is 30 minutes into the next game Why are we sitting on this channel still just the case girl? I mean it was a special night for them They're ring night everybody don't got remotes it's ring night ring night big win open it night But it's the first time but it's right you should pull them off the court dude or interview right there, don't wait 30 minutes, wait to everybody leaves.

Yeah, they're trying to do a post-game show when there's another day. They're trying to do a post-game show, everybody leaves. Like, how long does it take somebody, all of them to get out of the arena? About 15, 20 minutes. To get out the arena? Get out the arena? After the game took away? You're talking about all the people in the crowd.

Yeah. Oh. So they waited to the arena cleared than they did their post interview. I'm like... Well, let's get back to the actual game action. Thunder looks shaky early in this game, trailing by as much as 12 in the second half. But SGA came on strong when his team needed them the most. the most hitting a huge bucket in the fourth quarter to send it to OT as well as what would

be the game winning free throws but we all watch the game what are y'all biggest takeaways from the thunder's opening night win over the rockets got the dump that the thunder are very good especially once they get healthy and they get jdub back they're they are very good they're young um they got a lot of pieces and i mean they're going to be good for a couple years they They got some graphics. They got a lot of assets, man. They got a lot of good things over there going. So if they can stay healthy, they're going to be good.

Yeah, but just over the biggest takeaways from that opening that game, Thunderdiff. The biggest takeaway is that whoever's a point guard that's a free agent right now, you should be calling the damn Houston Rockets. They ain't got no money, can you? They're going to have to release, listen, I feel bad for 14 and 15 on the back end of that. on the back end of that thing then because they were out to do something. I thought they needed a point. Yeah, that would, yeah, my ass, my ass, hey. Yeah, my ass, yeah, my ass, you saw what I heard this.
