Starting point is 00:02:44 You know. I just seen the bullshit. You can't see. That's your muscle, man. You know. I just seen the whole shit. You can't see. That's like 10-1. That's like shooting records. Yeah. You know, with the hat to match, you know what I'm saying? We do the whole shit with the shoes and this shit.
Starting point is 00:02:53 We coordinate. Coordination. And we got Kenya Martin back on the couch. You know, I want to go. I go out shooting games. I know. Hey, listen. It's too hot.
Starting point is 00:03:03 If it wasn't hot, I'd go out there with your ass. Shit, fuck it. It's definitely hot outside. Yeah, the San Fernando Valley is cooking. But this show's cooking today, too. Here's what we got cracking. Bradley Bill allegedly got caught lacking by a high schooler, but are the reports of Bill's demise facts or cap?
Starting point is 00:03:19 Chalabrini had one report. We had to go hit our sources, much more plugged into the scene, to see what's going down. Steph Curry's known for getting buckets on the court, but is he getting buckets in the booth now too? Dropping tracks. And Ty Lue sends a message to Kawhi and PG about his expectations for them and the Clippers this season. But before we get into all that, as always, Underdog Fantasy presents this show. Go ahead, download the app.

Starting point is 00:04:06 You can spam us. Don't be asking dumb shit like a lot of y'all do out there. We will not use it on the show. They be trying to clown me, Gil. I'm just a host. These are NBA players. I'm just a host. I set screens. I love you as a teammate. Dennis Rodman, nigga, you shoot it.
Starting point is 00:04:21 Let me go get this rebound put back. Hey, straight boards. And as always, if you can't watch the show live with us, you can go ahead and get it on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts from. So let's get into it. Speaking of streaming bags, an adult film site offered Mark Jackson cool million dollars to do play-by-play for their live cam shows.
Starting point is 00:04:42 They even suggested that Jackson use this catchphrase, grown man move. Damn. What's funny is we talked about this in the chat. How's that? Damn. Two days ago. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:54 I knew it out there. Man. Man move right there. So Mark Jackson, the church going man. Mama go that man. Mama gogoing man. I'm going to go to that man. I'm going to go to that man. I knew you guys would have fun with this. Mark Jackson, the church-going man.
Starting point is 00:05:12 So holy he tried to heal Steph Curry's ankle with oil. True story. True story. Holy oil. He used to be out on the streets preaching. I used to see him over at the Outlast in Camarillo getting deep discounts. That's when I knew he was a wise man. Never paid full price.
Starting point is 00:05:26 God let him off the hook for this bag just one time? Should Mark Jackson take the million dollar offer to do porno play-by-play? Mark Jackson? No, man.
Starting point is 00:05:36 Million dollars. I mean, play-by-play on porn would be kind of funny. That would be hilarious. It would be. That would be kind of funny as shit right there
Starting point is 00:05:44 just to do some play-by-play. Yeah. 10 million. But have a back and forth. We got to have two people. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You got to have two people. You can't have just one person.
Starting point is 00:05:52 You got to have a chick, too. You got to be a doll. A chick, right? So what you doing right now? Oh, the old gobbler gobbler. Oh, gobbler gobbler. Oh, gobbler gobbler. Oh, gosh.
Starting point is 00:06:02 That is. You got to be on probably. What kind of movie is that? Well, he got to be on a certain, he going to be Bang Bros or Black. Cam, gobble gobble. Oh, gosh. That is. He got to be on party. What move is that? Well, he got to be on a certain don't. He going to be Bang Bros or Black. Cam Soda, I believe. Cam Soda. But they always be offering people bags.
Starting point is 00:06:11 I don't think anybody's yet to take it, but somebody got to take them up on their offer. Gil, if you did it, would you do play-by-play or color commentary? I do play-by-play. I fucked the whole scene. I'm like, yuck. Hand down, man. That's how you fuck a scene.
Starting point is 00:06:35 Yuck. Yuck. I would love to see Mark Jackson in that situation. Somebody got to be the first, the Jackie Robinson, if you will, make the move for the NBA to part up. I'm not going to lie. Oh, man. I'll be the talent.
Starting point is 00:06:49 You know what I'm saying? You didn't even see me when I put my leg up, B. You didn't even see me. I hit it with a dougie. You know what I'm saying? Oh, you hit it with a special move, y'all. A special move. Watch the rope, adult.
Starting point is 00:07:02 Off the top rope, nigga. I'm coming off the top. For sure. Every day, we are one day closer to getting canceled. Every day. Today might be that day.
Starting point is 00:07:11 Underdog, I know they in the offices motherfucking us. Like, move on, please. Move on. But what's the...
Starting point is 00:07:19 That's what he probably said. Move on. Next topic. They be in the back like this. Fuck it. What's the craziest job offer you've gotten? It was... It was when Coach...
Starting point is 00:07:38 Was it Skip? Was it Skip? Skip who? Was it Skip Saunders? Flip. Flip Saunders. Yeah, when he told me I should average like 27 assists and like five rebounds. 27 and five?
Starting point is 00:07:54 Yeah, he told me that I should take like a lesser role in our office. That's the craziest thing. That's the craziest shit I ever heard for a job, Arboretum. I know you a superstar, but I need you to come on. 20 points? What the fuck is wrong with you? We're going to be like, we're going to be minus 10 around this motherfucker. Wow.
Starting point is 00:08:13 This boy is nuts, man. What? Yo. What? Yo, Arboretum, you saying something about that shit? Like, nigga, what? Pass. Pass?
Starting point is 00:08:21 To who? To who? Who is capable here? To catch my 10? I got eight, nine points. Someone got to, you know, make up. We ain't got no kind of team out here. Skip Flanders.
Starting point is 00:08:33 Skip Flanders. Rashad, what's the craziest job offer you got? There's a random YouTuber offer me some money to go on a date with her. I ain't going to talk about who it was, but basically tried to finagle me into doing business, but was like, we're going to have to date. And we had to go on a date. I'm like, so you paying so that I look like an escort or some shit? What's going on? It was just a weird, a whole weird dynamic of her trying to just basically shoot her shot.
Starting point is 00:09:10 If the bag was good enough. Jiggle you out, son. She was trying to jiggle me out. And I was like, hmm, but it wasn't enough. It wasn't enough. Not enough bag. Hey, fuck that. That's recent.
Starting point is 00:09:19 That's like within the last four months. Yeah, that was definitely recent. That means the stock is going up on the show it's just you gotta get the bag up how many 5k for the evening for the evening for the evening that boyfriend experience yeah good get your bag tag three two hours max you know what i'm saying two hours max that's I got. I ain't got nothing else for you. K, what's the craziest job offer you got? Like, ever?
Starting point is 00:09:50 Ever in life. Oh, somebody asked me to, like, do janitorial work. Like, and asked me to, like, sweep outside by the dumpster. I'm like, who? Me? At this, like, career camp? Like Kenyon. Like, Kenyon.
Starting point is 00:10:12 Like how long ago was that? Like I was in college. Man, are you like, who you, who you? Man, that's where trash belongs. Behind the dumpster. Behind the dumpster. You know what, man, this is going to be my last day. Peace.
Starting point is 00:10:30 Peace. We used to have those college jobs where you just punch in, go do something. Yeah, but it's supposed to, man. That's what it's for. Yeah, they were trying to make me do it. And then another situation, like these people just madded crazy, man. Like they wanted us at this place to put pallets back together that they stack stuff on. So there's a nail gun and a crowbar.
Starting point is 00:10:52 They wanted us to do it manually, though. Like, man, you know what? This is going to be my last day. I'm done. Yeah, I'm done. No, I'm going to not. Yeah. It's supposed to be a clock in and check situation.
Starting point is 00:11:04 You're supposed to be in clock in and check situation. You're supposed to be in here working like y'all pay them. Like, I'm a student. I'm a student athlete at that. With emphasis on the athlete. Hooper, Hooper. I never see people pay money to go to class. No, no, hey.
Starting point is 00:11:25 No, if you ever bought anything from Ikea. Yeah. Right? That was a spot. That's a stupid job to have right there, to go home and put your own shit together with no fee. Shit come out janky. I didn't ruin the menu thing. You got to pay and then go home and do labor for no money? Oh, hell no.
Starting point is 00:11:43 That's not a job you want. Direction is always janky. Oh, I tell a person in the middle, I live here. I do not work here. Hey, everybody, they get that statement. You come to my house, you need something. You been in my house more than once? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:57 Oh, listen, hey. Take that shit out yourself. I live here. I do not work here. Listen, y'all got to get him. Let's keep this thing moving. Steph Curry, chef on the court, but he's cooking in the
Starting point is 00:12:08 booth now too. Steph had a verse on Toby Weigway's track, Little Fish, Big Pond. Weigway, I said it right? I don't want Toby people, you know. Not with the N's and the W's and all that shit. I can't pronounce it. But Toby Weigway's track, Little Fish, Big Pond, where he dropped the following bars.
Starting point is 00:12:38 Woo! You know if you wrote it, but fine. All right for what? All right for what? What, the last line? Woo, that was a bar but fine. That was all right. All right for what? All right for what? What, the last line? That was a bar. That was a bar? That was a bar.
Starting point is 00:12:51 That was a bar. Stop it. That was a bar. Red fish, blue fish. One fish. But you can't tell me that last. He can't write that shit. But I don't care.
Starting point is 00:13:07 I don't care if he wrote it or not. He delivered it right. He delivered it well. But that last... Ratchet in the casket in the... No. Huh? What? They should put the basket in the casket when I'm done.
Starting point is 00:13:16 What? I prefer red fish, blue fish, one fish, two fish. I hear you. You feel me? What? You feel me? Chris... Hey, Spencer. Chris Spencer. Yo. Red fish. Oh, two fish. I hear you. You feel me? What? You feel me, Chris? Hey, Spencer, Chris Spencer, they need a red fish.
Starting point is 00:13:28 Oh, the Spencer. They should put the basket in the casket when I'm done. Hey, does it matter if he wrote it? There's going to be so many hoopers. I like that. There's going to be so many hoopers like, yo, when I'm done, put the basket in the casket. Absolutely. I want the rim in here, this motherfucker right here.
Starting point is 00:13:42 Hey, I like that. Yo, that's a bar. Yeah. That's a bar. Is he going to be shooting in the casket? Huh? Is he going to be doing it in the casket? No. Just put the rim in here, this motherfucker, right here. I like that. Yeah, that's a bar. Yeah. That's a bar. In the casket? What are you going to be doing in the casket? No. Just put that motherfucker in there.
Starting point is 00:13:48 He said put that. And not with him when he get done hooping. Uh-huh. Ah, I get it. Yeah, yeah. When he retire, put the basket in the casket. On tundras he's using. Ah.
Starting point is 00:14:03 I got it. Not when he die. Ooh, lady. I got it. Now when he die. No, man. Now when he die. I'm just saying, like, okay. Oh, the records and everything is on there. Go ahead and say it. Red Bluefish.

Starting point is 00:14:40 That's his name, Toby? Yeah. His real name? Toby Weigway. You know, that's just his rap boy. I'm a name pronouncing motherfucker. Good job.
Starting point is 00:14:48 You was working on that, huh? I practice. All right. I don't want to fuck with me. You supposed to use the accent when you be doing this shit. Come on, man. You slacking off on your accent, G. You used to be on top of your accent, G.
Starting point is 00:15:00 All right. Look, the show is gaining more notoriety. People know us now when we go out on the street. People know it's not what we got. People know it's not what we got. You can't fuck with people no more. We had Zion hit Gil with the shoulder rub. Damn. Watch out.
Starting point is 00:15:13 Watch out, nigga. You're elaborate. Jerry West has some issue. I don't know for what. You know what a nigga bad ass. He's just like, oh, I can't get that hole in his face. Listen, like I'm telling get that hold of face. Listen, like I'm telling y'all,
Starting point is 00:15:26 listen, when Darvin Ham gave me death, that was a death. It was death. I closed my eyes. I'm a strong nigga too. I'm not fucking with you. I'm leaving this nigga alone.
Starting point is 00:15:38 Darvin was like, ah! He was over there between back and forth between Wayne and Encore like Debo, LA. It was like, I didn't know he was that big.
Starting point is 00:15:46 I was just like, yo, you was a big, strong, strong ass nigga, bro. What the fuck is wrong with you? What's up, Shaw? Relax. Relax, bro. I'm calling you Bumpy. No more. That wasn't us.
Starting point is 00:15:57 That shit was so funny. Bumpy! That wasn't us. That shit was so funny. That was Bump Dub. Bump Dub. That's what he said. That's what he said. That's what he said. That was Bump Dub. That's what heub. Bo-Dub definitely said it.
Starting point is 00:16:05 That shit was Bo-Dub. I just started saying it because it was funny. It was hilarious when you said it. It definitely was funny. It's funny when you don't got to worry about it. It's just that one four-day window. You're not really going to see Darvish at any point during the year, but I've seen him about 15 times.
Starting point is 00:16:21 Just waiting. Oh, no. DM, I'm sagging on. Yeah, DM. Yeah. He's sagging on. Yeah, DM. Yeah. He's sagging on. Nigga ripping phone books with his bare hands.
Starting point is 00:16:28 Absolutely. Yeah. As soon as he see you, his eyes get open. Yeah. There you go. French fishing a lot. He got that water in his system. So we saying, step, step.
Starting point is 00:16:36 We got bars. Yeah, nah. I'm sorry. I can't help it. It's hot. It's hot in here, man. It got me sweating. It's hard for me.
Starting point is 00:16:44 Like, I'm, you know, we all listen to music. You know what I'm saying? If he wrote it, great. If he didn't write but go off. It's hot in here, man. It got me sweating. It's hard for me. You know, we all listen to music. You know what I'm saying? If you wrote it, great. If you didn't write it, cool. You delivered it. Delivered it. But that last, yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:53 Yeah. I fuck with the last line. Okay. That was, yeah. It was fire. Steph, pull up to the show. Talk to us about it. You always got a spot on the couch when you're ready. Or we're going to pull up on you one way or the other.
Starting point is 00:17:04 We're going to pull up on them. So got me thinking. We got a schedule. We know you asked that. Definitely got a schedule. We got a schedule. When we talk about NBA rappers, obviously we're all kind of older generation. But who's the best NBA rapper of all time?
Starting point is 00:17:19 A lot of young kids think Miles Bridges got the crown now. But when we go back, I'm just telling you what the young kids are saying. Oh, I haven't heard of Miles. He raps? He tries. Is he nice? He can go. You haven't heard of him?
Starting point is 00:17:31 For young kids. Have you heard of him? Yeah, they all nice. Just because you gotta be nice, you come out. You can't be trash. No, really. They got, if you think about music, it all sound the same.
Starting point is 00:17:42 Just like that first step, it sounds like one of these niggas I'm finna show y'all my age. You probably know this. Do you remember Basketball's Best Kept Secret? One of the greatest. You remember that? Seth Simbales had a song over there.
Starting point is 00:18:00 It was a laundry list of hoopers. It was a CD they put together with all hoopers. Yeah, basketball best kept secret. Basketball best kept secret. I was young. I don't know how old I was. I was young.
Starting point is 00:18:13 Early 90s. Yeah, it was early 90s. I just remember it said. Dana Barrow, Malik Sealy, the legend, Shaq. Came out November 94. JR Ryder had a song. Chris Mills. Brian Shaw had a track.
Starting point is 00:18:25 94? Yep, 94. I was a sophomore in high school. I was fourth grade. That's a good debate. That's not really what... I was going to say how old I am, right? Yeah, I was an eighth grader.
Starting point is 00:18:37 But who was the best, if we had to pick from that list? Well, I mean, because of, you know, rap has changed, right? You would say today, you would say Dane because of the lyrics. Yeah. I'm going to go with who sold the most to go with Shaq. Yeah. Twizzle. Ooh. You going to go with Shaq?
Starting point is 00:18:56 No, I'm not going with that. Because back then it was bubble gum rap. I'm not going with that. It was bubble gum rap back then. I'm not going with Shaq ever being the best at that. Dude, you want me to pass it? No! That's what I'm saying going with Shaq ever being the best at that. Dude, you want me to pass it? No! No!
Starting point is 00:19:09 My ass was okay. No! That shit was terrible. God damn awful. Just because that shit sold don't mean that shit was good at all, bruh. Didn't he go black? He went like golden.
Starting point is 00:19:23 Yes, that shit went one of them. Yeah, absolutely went black. It was a different time though. We was bored. You know we were bored back then. No, we're not going to do that, Gil. I know. We're not going to fucking do that.
Starting point is 00:19:32 I know. I mean, Dame. Dame, Stack. I'm sorry. Stack and Gold. Joe Smith can rap. Like, huh? Yeah, Joe Smith can rap.
Starting point is 00:19:43 It's preference, man. It's what you prefer. Shump. I like shump. Have you ever been in your car? You were bumping an NBA player. I like shump delivery. I like shump.
Starting point is 00:19:54 I bump Zoe. Okay. I bump Zoe. Yeah, I like shump. Zoe was cool. Z-O-2s? Z-O-2 came out. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:01 I was bumping. I ain't going to lie. They ain't probably the more culturally, you know, advanced. He takes this shit serious. Yeah, he took it up a little notch. I think if Stack put more time into it and really focused in on, like, Dame, I think they. We never like the slander, but it's the summer.
Starting point is 00:20:19 So who's the worst NBA rapper or teammate that you had that thought they could rap that you were like, Lee, that shouldn't have drafted you. Shit, me? You try to rap? What was your rap name? King Sonny Black. King what?
Starting point is 00:20:36 King Sonny Black. You didn't like your bar? No, I don't like my bar. I just do it because I'm like. But do they exist on the internet? They exist on me. You can find them? On SoundCloud. I got my SoundCloud popping. Okay. You know what I'm like... Do they exist? He said me. Yeah. You can find them? On SoundCloud. I got my SoundCloud poppin'.
Starting point is 00:20:45 Okay. You know what I'm saying? Oh, Lord. I had a foot party. I was about to go on SoundCloud. I was about to go on SoundCloud. Hey, Sonny Black. Hey, yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:53 Trash as fuck. You should have kept that one close to the break, boy. Trash as fuck. Nigga, go judge my shit. You know what I'm saying? Nah. I'm at the bottom of the tier. I wasn't invited to none of the cyphers.
Starting point is 00:21:04 It's all good. I wasn't invited to none of the Cyphers. It's all good. I wasn't invited to none of the mixtapes and shit. I'm good. So we asked the chat, does Steph have bars? 60% said no. Ooh, wow. LeBron fans, I told you. He said LeBron fans.
Starting point is 00:21:17 Redfish, bluefish, one fish, two fish. That's all he had to say. It wasn't how they know if he has bars or not. We're just from that snippet. We're just from that snippet. We're just from that snippet. That's not... But the chat is haters. A lot of good people in the chat, a lot of haters.
Starting point is 00:21:29 All of them. Hating is funny at least. And Steph Light's kid. It's fundamental. Steph Light's kid. You know y'all like him. Oh, yeah, you know. Hate is funny.
Starting point is 00:21:36 We was rocking with each other during the pandemic, but we're back to now not fucking with each other. We came together. Hate is fundamental. All right, so let's keep this thing moving up. In sports, we like to talk about athletes having that dog in them. Well, one dude in Japan took this to another level. Dude dropped $14,000 to become a collie.
Starting point is 00:22:00 So this is a man in that suit. You're lying. You're lying. $14,000 for a costume? For that outfit. To roll around? Does he relieve himself like a doctor or he just hold it like... He peeing right there. He lifted up.
Starting point is 00:22:17 Did he smash? 14,000? Does he smash? Bro. Bestiality. He can't even run. Yeah, he can't get you with the full speed trot. Does he smash? Bro. Bestiality. He can't even run. Yeah, he can't get you with the full speed track.
Starting point is 00:22:30 Damn. Something's not right about this. It don't sit right. This is what we're doing now? This is what we're doing now. I'm fucking speechless. 14,000. Japan?
Starting point is 00:22:40 Is that in America or in Japan? I'm not sure. No, it's a Japanese dude. This shit is getting out of fucking control, man. Like, people got entirely too much time on their hands, bro. I...
Starting point is 00:22:53 Got to get it together. But we're a basketball show. So, you know, I'm going to figure out a basketball tie-in to anything that we do. So this is on a serious side. Start with you, Gil. What does having that
Starting point is 00:23:05 dog actually mean to you? We're talking about people having that dog in them. What does that actually mean to you? It means that person goes hard, like defensively. I hear like the new generation using it like, oh oh, he got that dog in him. Oh, he plays good defense. Cool. Like, it's a hustler. Like, back then, it was those white boys that just sit there and sweat all on you and just play really hard. It was just Caucasians? No, it was Caucasians back then. Oh, really? Back in the 90s, you know, the ones that just sit there and sweat on you and come in the game for like four minutes.
Starting point is 00:23:42 And they just sit there houndingounding you jumping and kicking the charges. You got the dog in there right there. That's what it means. I got a different take on that. See, that's what I mean. We got to really define. People throw shit out, but what does it really mean? I think we all can agree. When we talked about the Tim Duncan
Starting point is 00:23:59 KG dog assessment in Vegas, Tim Duncan didn't have the other type of dog that Kenya and KG had where it's more, I'm about to bite your fucking head off type shit. But then offensively, there's certain niggas that you know got that dog.
Starting point is 00:24:16 He a dog. He gonna go at I consider Gil a dog. This nigga gonna go at you. It don't matter who you are. If you cross that line, it's like crossing that fence. I'm on your ass all night long. Pause. And then it's like the other side is like you said, the defensive side is the guy who never backs down. The guy who's always ready for smoke. Stephen Jackson type dog. You know what I'm
Starting point is 00:24:45 saying? I'm on you. Shit, fuck Kobe Bryant. Dog. Dog. Dog. I'm on you all night. D-Wade. Dog. Dog. You're shaking your head. Bull massive. Dogs was considered the one side of the floor. The offensive players were like, he's in beast mode. He's a beast. Well, that's... It's like from my...
Starting point is 00:25:11 Is it a tier level thing? No, it's not. Because it's like tier... The beast, nigga, is a beast. Yeah, but like... I agree with you. But you, I'm going to say, yo, he was a dog. Pat Beverly's a dog.
Starting point is 00:25:21 Those guys are dogs. B.I. was a beast. No, but that's the same. Like, a dog, like, I'm going to go at you on both sides of the ball. Like, I'm going to attack you on both sides of the ball. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. It's the same thing.
Starting point is 00:25:36 He a beast. He a dog. It's the same. He a beast defensively. He a beast offensively. He a dog. But no one ever says, like, a beast. No, he's a dog.
Starting point is 00:25:44 Beast. He's never a beast. No, he's a dog Please it is so never be I did know when we've never we've never used beasts for nobody who just a more of a defensive Player with these these AI Beast team act Was a beast is a dog. He's a you have he's a dog like you don't use it that way I'm saying you don't use it that way cuz I'm saying? You don't use it that way. Because I'm offensively minded. So he's in beast mode.
Starting point is 00:26:08 But you can't be a dog offensively. Yes, you can. Yes. Yes, you can. Yes, dog. Absolutely. Dogging him. So you said Tim Duncan wasn't a what now?
Starting point is 00:26:17 I said he was a different type of dog than you. Oh, he's a fucking Belgian Malinois. Compare. Wouldn't say nothing. I said the same. Come across the line and bite your goddamn. Compare. I said the same thing. That's the same shit that I said. If you cross the line, he'll still bite you,
Starting point is 00:26:30 but he wasn't going to bark at you. Yeah, I prefer that kind of a dog than the porch kind of a just rapper dog. No, but I'm, yeah, no. Nobody's just going to take nothing. Go after you both sides of the ball. They ain't going to back down. You stay in my line.
Starting point is 00:26:46 Some varying opinions on this couch. Let's get some beast versus dog clarifications. I'm going to throw a name out. You tell me beast or dog. Okay. Scottie Pippen. Dog. Dog.
Starting point is 00:26:57 No beast in him? No. Nah. Ever? No, no, no. Like I said, there's levels to getting the beast on. 30 MVP voting when MJ left. But he was the dog.
Starting point is 00:27:09 Like he's saying defensively, he was the dog. I don't think he had the offensive line. Was his dog leashed when MJ was there? Was it unleashed when MJ was gone? Bulls, everybody was a dog besides Michael. Michael was the beast. Michael was a beast. That's tier level shit.
Starting point is 00:27:24 What did Kanye say? What did Kobe say? Are you the same beast in a different? Yes the beast. Michael was the beast. That's tier-level shit. What did Kanye say? What did Kobe say? Are you the same beast in a different way? Yes, beast, bro, with B, yeah. It's a whole different... Let's flip it to the other side, Larry Bird. He was the beast. Beast.
Starting point is 00:27:38 Did he have dog in him, though? Yeah, I mean, listen, dog is... Like, a dog starts on two-way. I mean, on the defensive side. Then you have your two way players who consider themselves dogs. Right. Because they're going to get after you on both sides. If you're just an offensive, just a juggernaut. Right.
Starting point is 00:27:56 You're trying to put up 40, 50, 60. You're just in beast mode. Yeah. You know, like, so he's two way player. I just think you're a fucking gun. That's it. You're a gun. Like, I'm just hunting.
Starting point is 00:28:11 Right. Like, I'm just hunting. I'm not... Assassin. Like, I'm not... Yeah, assassin. Assassin. Like, it's more of an offense. Like, I'm coming.
Starting point is 00:28:17 You know, a defensive player, you're defending, right? Yeah. You're defending something. Yeah. Right? You're defending from, like, so I'm, you know... So that's what dogs do, defend and... Yeah, they're defending their. Yeah, but you're defending from like so I'm you know, that's what dogs do defend And yeah, they're defending there across this line. I'm gonna bite your head I'll get it. But like I said the tier levels of it the tier levels like you say AI would be more of a beast
Starting point is 00:28:36 Kobe MJ these are mellow be small You see mellow didn't have the defensive dog side, right? But I feel like the-Wade did. He had the dog and he had the beast. You know what I'm saying? Kobe had the dog and the beast. Mike had the dog and the beast. Larry didn't as much have the dog and the beast.
Starting point is 00:28:55 You know what I'm saying? Certain players play two-way. It all depends. It all depends. But when I hear, like, you people getting it, I'm like, oh, yeah, he got that dog. So we're speaking of lichens and humans. Yeah. Y'all seen Underworld?
Starting point is 00:29:08 Yeah. We see stuff with lichens and vents. 100%. Okay. I'm with you. 100%. I'm with you. So they be saying at the AAU level, do you need to cross a certain point?
Starting point is 00:29:16 Yeah. He got the dog in him, like. So we're going to change the phrase. Who the fuck is that supposed to be? So he's a lichen. He's hot. He's like, okay, he's an active player. He's just really all over the place. Who the fuck is that supposed to be? So he's a lycan. He's a lycan. He's like, he's an active player and he's just really
Starting point is 00:29:27 all over the place. Who the fuck is that supposed to be? So that's another, is the dog about the bark? Like you said, Tim Duncan, no bark will bite
Starting point is 00:29:34 the shit out of you. You know, are some dudes out there pretending to be dogs and they're really not like that? No, like, yeah.
Starting point is 00:29:41 It's the reaction, I think, because Timmy would react but he just wouldn't react the way a Kenyan or a Kmy would react, but he just wouldn't react the way a Kenyan or a KG would react. They niggas at your ass from the tip, talking shit to you,
Starting point is 00:29:53 trying to provoke you. Timmy was a response. He had to respond. If you didn't provoke that response from him, you wouldn't know if he was a dog or not. Until, you know what I'm saying? Tim, come out there, motherfucker. How you doing today, Ken?
Starting point is 00:30:09 How's the family? Piss you off a little bit. On the other side, how did that make you play? You all aggressive and stuff. So how's your family doing? Damn. Good, thank you. Deactivate the whole shit.
Starting point is 00:30:26 God damn, nigga. Just throw your fucking hands and walk to them. That's the kind of night we have in this thing. Nigga, you want to have a coffee. God damn. Nigga, you're too likable. Too pleasant, nigga. So is having that dog something you're born with
Starting point is 00:30:38 or is that something you can develop? I guess you can develop it. Yeah. If you play for certain people. Yeah. They'll bring it out. They'll bring that dog out. What?
Starting point is 00:30:49 Let me tell you. Listen. I want. Trust me. Damn Bob Huggins. Listen. You might come in one way. You stick around.
Starting point is 00:30:57 You leave out them over. You might. Hey. Yeah. Let's talk a little bit about that Cincinnati experience coming and playing for Coach Huggins. Obviously had some situations going on recently. Yeah, I love him to death, man. He'd be all right.
Starting point is 00:31:10 He'd bounce back. But, nah, it was just from day one, man. Like, it was, like, go. Like, wasn't no out of bounds, no fouls. You're going to play. Oh, yeah, man. Like, it's one of them. Like, you're going to play. Oh, yeah, man. Like, it's one of them. Like, you got to be prepared, like, mentally for this.
Starting point is 00:31:31 You're going to hoop. He's going to ride you. He's going to cuss you. You're going to run. You're going to get fouled. And you're going to learn to play defense. Like, amen. Like, we're talking about defensive drills daily?
Starting point is 00:31:47 Ain't no you go close out and you get scored on and you go to the back of the line. Like, no. Oh, no. You got to get a stop. A clean stop. I've seen days this and dog can't stand up. You got to play defense and you just dead because you know how we are, man.
Starting point is 00:32:08 We savages, man. We're going to keep going every time and make you foul us. And if you foul, you got to go again. You got to go again and go again. I mean, I done seen them try to teach somebody to learn how to take charges. Oh, you don't know how to take a charge? Oh, you're going to learn today. You're going to learn today. Line charges. Oh, you don't know how to take a charge? Oh, you're going to learn today?
Starting point is 00:32:25 You're going to learn today. Line up. Line up. Damn, in succession? What? I'm just saying. Yeah, because you know we'll do the charge drill. Okay.
Starting point is 00:32:34 But I'm saying it's buddy ball. I'm not. Oh, no. Yeah, you're not. You didn't go to Cincinnati. You didn't go to Cincinnati. No, I'm just being real. Niggas dropping the ball before they get to you.
Starting point is 00:32:44 Yeah. Who? God damn. Hey, man, you better learn how to fall. Yeah. That was it. The art of falling. No, you better do. I'm telling you, man, I just tell people, man, listen, all this
Starting point is 00:32:57 new age, you get hit and you and you get up and ain't nothing wrong with you. And you don't get back on defense. Get your ass out the game. Oh, if you did that shit in one of Bob Huggins' practice or game,
Starting point is 00:33:09 when you came up, your eyeball better have been in your hand. Sup? The reason that you didn't get back. Sup? Dog, man, this man,
Starting point is 00:33:16 listen, man, drilling stuff, dog, so he can teach you how you're going to play. And if you don't, either you're going to transfer or you're going to be at And if you don't, either you're going to transfer or you're going to be at the end
Starting point is 00:33:27 of that motherfucker. Like, pass the walk-on. He said pass the walk-on. He might put the walk-in in before you. And I've seen them make dudes cry. Listen, from being on you because you didn't play hard today. Tears. Like like don't come out
Starting point is 00:33:46 the dorm room the next day man I'm not going to practice I'm done man my parents on the way next thing pull up
Starting point is 00:33:53 U-Haul to the parents then drove from Sutton pulling U-Haul up dog can't can't stand it
Starting point is 00:34:00 that's what make it I know it wasn't like that hell no that nigga was likable that's what that nigga good. I know who wasn't like that. Hell no. That dude was likable.
Starting point is 00:34:07 I'm not a nigga that play no damn defense, nigga. What, play defense in college? I play defense in college. You play defense. I'm talking about the team. Y'all team didn't play no defense. You was the steals guy. You was always gambling. I was locking people down until my money in the NBA said otherwise.
Starting point is 00:34:24 But that's the thing. When they pay me, they say, oh, you's an offense player. Thank you. Thank you kindly. Thank you kindly. But look, it's like the challenging, what he's saying is when the coach challenges you,
Starting point is 00:34:39 that's what makes good coaches, to be able to challenge you. And to your point earlier, you were talking about Melo, right? I beg to differ with people that say Melo can't defend. Oh, he can. But I've seen him take the challenge and guard guys. You know what I'm saying? But if you ask Melo to drop low, if he's supposed to be the low man right here,
Starting point is 00:35:03 chances are Melo might not be there unless I yeah hey yo you're seven you low right oh shit okay tell him yeah yeah yeah you know what I'm saying yeah but I didn't see him he come out the time I hear like no I got I got bean I'm on him like no I got no I got him I got him I'm like nigga you got too fast I don't care I got him yeah come out I got brawn I got I'm like dude chill right I, you got two fouls. I don't care. I got him. Yeah. Come out. I got Bron. I got, I'm like, dude, chill. Right. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:35:28 Nah, let me do what I do and you, nah, he want to take the challenge. And he out there like, I didn't seen him do it. You know what I'm saying? That's it. So when people say that he don't, he can't, like, nah, I've always said, when it come down to it in the playoffs and all that, nah, that boy showed up, man, on that side of the ball. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:35:43 And he's like, I like, man, on that side of the ball. You know what I'm saying? And he's good. I was like, dude, you got to chill, bro. They let you get away with murder. But that's what make the player, though, the challenge. That's what make the dog is like the defensive challenge and
Starting point is 00:35:59 the offensive aggression. How offensively aggressive can you be and how defensively aggressive can you be and how defensively aggressive can you be? And the coaches understanding how far to push that player. How far can you push him and challenge him? Like Bob Huggins was always the one we respected because we seen what he did with y'all. Like growing up, me going to Carolina, I took a step back in that challenge because I wanted that type of atmosphere. I wanted the coach to challenge me to the extent they trusted us on the floor
Starting point is 00:36:26 without having to say shit to us, right? Where we played hard enough in practice where when we went out there, it was, hey, it was breezy. But we played with the Roy Williams system, the Carolina system, which was kind of like the fake deny. We pushed out with our pressure. We really wasn't playing defense because we really didn't have to. But when it came to
Starting point is 00:36:45 challenging i came from a different community of energy right my dad raised me differently so the niggas i was around at carolina they didn't have that challenge so it was tougher to get like for them to take the thrashings from the coach being harsh and aggressive and all that type of shit. Like if the Carolina guys that I played with got coached by Huggins, I'm niggas with a transfer. Niggas with a transfer. 100%. 100% because they're not cut from that cloth of understanding that he's coaching you and challenging you to a certain extent. And you got to accept the challenge, rise to the occasion, and deliver.
Starting point is 00:37:23 And a lot of players, like you say nowadays, don't do that. They don't really know how to accept that challenge, and they take it personal. Then they're ready to jump shit. That's what we're seeing in the NBA. Motherfuckers, old school coaches trying to coach them a certain way that we all are accustomed to, which is challenging you, seeing how you're going to respond to that challenge.
Starting point is 00:37:44 These motherfuckers cradle in. I don't like this coach, man. I'm ready to go somewhere else, man. You say that at AAU a lot. And I mean, you never want to talk about back in our day or whatever compared to now, but it seems like we dealt with a lot more shit. Like kids nowadays, super fragile. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:38:03 Be on a team for two weeks. That's because whoever came from the East Coast and put the AAU bracket system in where you got ages, 14U, then you got bronze, gold, like it became a money pit because back then, there was
Starting point is 00:38:21 only a certain amount of AAU teams. Yeah. So you can leave us, goddammit, and you can go somewhere else. You ain't playing over there. Right. Right? So you just missed whole AAUs. Now, you don't like your playing style.
Starting point is 00:38:37 You have your parents create this own little system. Now you got all these AAU teams because most of them is they didn't play. Now, their done made or their mama done got a little program together. Their son get to play. It's just a whole bunch of stupid shit. And ain't nobody coaching them. Ain't nobody telling them the truth. Ain't nobody being hard on them. Ain't nobody being honest with them.
Starting point is 00:38:55 And then by the time you get to somebody who might do that to you and for you, it's too late. You know what I'm saying? You've been used to somebody sugarcoating shit and blowing smoke up Yeah, it's all these years telling you to mess back sting and yeah and all this and you're not I'm saying and by the time you get to College shit, I'm forbid you get there and you get a Bob Huggins, mm-hmm
Starting point is 00:39:20 Done the first time he raised his voice at you. You don't know what to do. You don't know what this man just say to me. Mom. This man just. Right. Next thing you know, I'm saying it just. No, it was that, man. Like social media and the culture impact that now.
Starting point is 00:39:37 You talk about highlight videos. No, it's not. It's just the system that was created. I mean, now you have programs that used to have one high school team, right? But you have one that's, you got 12 guys on your team. For those 12 to be on that team, they got to be good. Yes. There's 12 starters.
Starting point is 00:39:57 Talk about it. Right? Coming off the bench, you got a dude averaging 25 off your bench, right? Now, right, it's brackets. Like high school, if you was a freshman and you made an AAU team as a freshman, you was nice. Even if you got zero minutes. Like, oh, they're nice over there.
Starting point is 00:40:16 He's a freshman? Shit, he's good. You didn't even have to see this man play as a freshman. We knew he was elite if he made that team because the team was filled with them, their seniors and juniors. What? Yo. So we called a traveling team.
Starting point is 00:40:31 We called them traveling teams. My son played on the team this summer, man. Like, with some kids. I was trying to give him some bump for a few tournaments and the angle. And a few of them kids look like they only play at PE. Yep. Wow. Dude, and I'm trying, you know,
Starting point is 00:40:52 I'm sitting in the stands trying, you know me, man. You know me, Gil, you been in there, you know me. Really, man? Yeah. And I can't say nothing. No and it's hard so i told my son listen on this team you shoot it every time bro like every when i when i say every if you pass i'm gonna be mad like because you got to be hot like dude what you? And I go to the people running the program. I'm like, really?
Starting point is 00:41:27 Like, this is what y'all are doing? Yeah. What you talking about? Come on, really? Let's sit down and watch this game together. Is your son looking at you or the coach? Because, like, when my dad, when I used to play AU, like, I'm looking at him. Like, he played in the league.
Starting point is 00:41:41 Yeah, and I let them coach him, but he hear my voice more because they not telling him what I'm telling him. That's my point. Coach, give me a directive. I'm going to look at confirm over here. Absolutely, you do it. You know what I'm saying? Is he right?
Starting point is 00:41:57 Yeah, because he do it. Can't do it to this day. I'm pretty sure Elijah do it. You know what I'm saying? Everybody do it. You know what I'm saying? Because what we're telling them, it works. And it's hard not to.
Starting point is 00:42:08 If I tell you, hey, they about to swing it, it's a steal coming, it's a steal, get up, get up, get up. And you don't do it, you don't get your hand up fast enough and they pass. I'm like, see, they're not just. Then the next time, got it. Die. Told you.
Starting point is 00:42:23 Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm saying like that. So he had to play to win the game. I'm like, hey Cameron, everybody set a screen for him. Ryan, watch the screen, yeah, yeah. I'm saying like that. So he had to play to win the game. I'm like, hey, Cameron, everybody set a screen for him. Mario, watch the screen. The screen coming. They're going to set this, and he's going to. He was prepared for it.
Starting point is 00:42:31 I'm like, get on the other side of him. Get on the other side of him. And they ran the same pick. So the coach ain't telling that in the timeout. Yeah, for sure. He just called timeout like, listen, they going to try to score. No shit. The game on the line.
Starting point is 00:42:49 That's why, look, that's why coaches hate them motherfucking parents, man. Any parents like that. Any goddamn parents. High game. What the fuck they else do? Yeah, what the else they going to do?
Starting point is 00:42:57 They need a three. They running a play for a three, coach. But if you talk about the parents, because you hear that shit every gym you go to. So my thing is like, are you knowledgeable as a parent, right? Who'd you hoop for? What's your highest level of basketball experience?
Starting point is 00:43:12 I had a ref tell me that shit before he turned around. I yelled something to him. You need to learn the game. He turned around like, oh, shit. Like, yeah, learn what game? Huh? That's how the coaches be, too. Who the fuck is up there talking?
Starting point is 00:43:25 Oh, okay. That's K-Miles. You want to come down here and coach? Bring your ass down here and coach. Listen, I told the camera and them team, man, they kids mad. It ain't y'all fault y'all got a handicap for a coach. Oh, Jim, quiet as could possibly be in there.
Starting point is 00:43:43 I yell. Man, he had them handicapping them kids, man. I as could possibly be in there. I yelled. Man, he had them handicapping them kids, man. Listen, dude. But look, let me tell you why. This is what's fucked up, Kenyon. My dad was like you. You got to be kicked off a goddamn team.
Starting point is 00:43:57 Parents started fucking complaining. Hey, listen, man, your dad can't just keep calling my son trash. Yeah. He's a motherfucking trash. He's a motherfucking passive goddamn ball, man. your dad can't just keep calling my son trash. Yeah. Yeah, he's a motherfucking trash ass motherfucker, pass the goddamn ball, man. Pass it. That motherfucker can't rebound, can't catch shit, goddamn. He loud as hell. And it's like, there's only so much the parents can take.
Starting point is 00:44:15 They actually paying for the team and shit, you know, the real stuff. See, I didn't do that. They paying for all that shit. I don't talk about other people's kids. That's what I'm saying. But that be the problem. That I don't do. Because the kids are paying.
Starting point is 00:44:24 Yeah. They're paying for the program. I played on one of them. When I was coaching, I won seven kids that I picked. You put your kid on my team and he don't know how to play. He ain't playing. He ain't playing. Take your money back. I'm not playing him.
Starting point is 00:44:40 Y'all see the NBA? Yes, this is like that. This group right here. No, move. You don't sit by me. No, I need to talk to my best player. Y'all see the NBA? Yes, this is like that. This group right here. No, no move. You don't sit by me. No. I need to talk to my best player. Y'all sit down there. Look, y'all going to get in if we up by 20.
Starting point is 00:44:53 Or down by 20. Listen. All right? Other than that, y'all role is to keep everybody else happy. High five. Make sure. High five to the water. Shake your shit like that.
Starting point is 00:45:02 That's y'all job, right? Pre-game, right? Y'all work on the moves y'all going to do. You know, a little pump in the water. Shaking shit like that. That's y'all job, right? Pre-game, right? Y'all work on the moves y'all going to do. You know, a little pump in the chest. Whatever the fuck y'all want to do down there, that's y'all time. But don't look at your parents. Don't have your parents talking to me. Well, I'm a son.
Starting point is 00:45:15 He needs a personal trainer, right? You get him a personal trainer. Y'all do about five, six hours a day, right? Every day. Those days off. And then hopefully he can help the program. Other than that, y'all don't supposed to play. I don't give a fuck what team you create.
Starting point is 00:45:31 You don't supposed to play. I told my son, I told my wife after winning the game, I said, listen, a few of them kids, if I was coaching them, a few of them kids wouldn't play basketball ever again if I was coaching them. Because the things I would have said to them after the game, dog, they would have gotten in the car with their mom and dad and said,
Starting point is 00:45:49 I don't think I want to do this again. Like, what happened, son? Mr. Martin told me the absolute truth, and I don't think I want to do this again. I told him right after the game, I said, had I talked to them kids after what I just witnessed, I mean, they wouldn't have touched the ball ever again, bro. They would have gave it up. I'm telling you. So just imagine, eighth grade, you go to practice, thinking
Starting point is 00:46:09 everything, just won two state titles, go to practice, everything good, but everybody looking kind of somber in this motherfucker. What's going, what's wrong with y'all? Coach coming, you know, huddle up. Man, we got to make a change today. It's going to be tough. I'm the best player, MVP, all that. We're going to have to make some changes around here. We're not going to make it right now. Just letting y'all know we're going to make some changes. This nigga came to my house like he had a whole new religious experience,
Starting point is 00:46:38 brung the Bible and everything. Didn't want to talk to my daddy, though. Talked to my mama. Yeah, we're going to have to let Rashad go. Parents are complaining about his dad, man. His dad is decreasing the ambition of the other kids and their willingness to play. They don't want to play with Rashad because his dad shows up to the games and he cusses them out. So I got cut from the team. Rashad because his dad shows up to the games and he cusses him out.
Starting point is 00:47:06 So I got cut from the team. Had to find a new team. So you've been getting kicked off teams since eighth grade. Kicked off. Pops did not play that shit, man. He was one of them. LeVar Ball type.
Starting point is 00:47:21 If he could have started his own shit then, he would have fucking did that shit. Oh, man. See, I ain't that bad. I'm bad. I ain't that bad. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:47:30 Yeah. He laughing right now, that nigga. He watching this. He watching. Shit, you know. He was sorry. What?
Starting point is 00:47:39 What am I to say? It was the truth. Tell the truth. All right, let's keep this thing moving. I always enjoy hearing your gentleman's keep this thing moving. I always enjoy hearing your gentleman's perspective on every topic.
Starting point is 00:47:48 We got to talk a little bit about Bradley Bill. There's a rumor floating around today that Bradley Bill might have gotten cooked by high school sensation Cooper Flagg at Jason Tato's basketball camp.
Starting point is 00:47:58 Now, before we do all this, we just got to preface it. It's a rumor. That's the most important part. Brian Scalabrini dropped this rumor on the starting lineup show on NBA Radio yesterday. He said, I heard a rumor. That's the most important part. Brian Scalabrini dropped this rumor on the starting lineup show on NBA Radio yesterday. He said, I heard a rumor that my boy Cooper Flagg was at Jason Tatum's camp and he was busting Brad Bill one-on-one. Bill got mad, started cussing him out.
Starting point is 00:48:16 This dude is a major trash talker. So I guess the rumor is that Brad Bill and him were squaring off. Bill was taking it lightly. He's a high school kid. Then Cooper started giving it to him. And I guess the rumor is Cooper started talking trash and Bradley Bill
Starting point is 00:48:27 got mad, really mad. The motherfucker said rumor about 16, 17 times. So like we said, and Scalabrini went to SC so you know they'd be lying. Same school as OJ. I was trying to,
Starting point is 00:48:37 I hit Jason Tatum up to see if it was true. He didn't hear me back yet. But it's Scal. Scal got a, you know. SC. No. OJ.
Starting point is 00:48:44 He's the, what do they call him? The white mamba. We call Scal. Scal got a, you know. SC. No, for OJ. He's the, what do they call him, the white mamba? We call Scal the white mamba. He's got to vouch for his other thing. These white guys that's coming up with talent. We got to put Scalabree and OJ in the same sentence. USC. The same. When you step foot on that campus, that's the mentality that you have.
Starting point is 00:49:04 Damn. Just kidding. Just kidding. But, you know, we had our St. Louis source check with some people who were knowledgeable, saying that it's being exaggerated. We're still gathering more information. But shout out to Cooper Flagg. Has a bright future. Has Negro Tennessee.
Starting point is 00:49:23 Wait, hold on. Hold on. Say that again. You said it's exaggerated, but... We're gathering more information. You're waiting for Jason Tatum to hit you back. What if Jason Tatum hit you back? Like, nah, Gil, it really happened.
Starting point is 00:49:37 You ain't heard it from me, though. Oh, he don't hear it, because Gil... You know, I'm going to say it. But, I mean, at the end of the day... He's 16, Gil. He's 16. Who's 16? But we've seen this
Starting point is 00:49:48 a couple years ago. We saw the video on Harden last year. Cooper, he ain't 16? How old is he? Instagram, 16. Instagram, 16?
Starting point is 00:49:56 Damn. I thought he was a high schooler. Yeah, it's cool. Hey, but look. It happens, though. That happens, right? Because it's not Bradley Bill that's going to be in the season.
Starting point is 00:50:09 Yeah. Right? It ain't in shape in Bradley Beal. You know, so if one's 6'10", one's a guard. I mean, it's. But it's NBA Bradley Beal. I'm an NBA player. Summertime, though.
Starting point is 00:50:24 Like, how serious? 38. UCLA runs back in the day. I used to have to guard KG. I'll give KG a couple buckets. I'm nowhere near KG's. I'm just saying. Because he's going about 30%.
Starting point is 00:50:33 I'm going about 120%. Just to be half as good as his 30. But a lot of those dudes will go see that. Bucket is a bucket. I understand. You still remember that. I'm going to lie about it. Bucket is a goddamn bucket. You see that? You still remember that. Yeah. I'm going to lie about it. Bucket is a goddamn bucket.
Starting point is 00:50:47 You see that? 30% KG, you better write that shit up. He was going like... Kid taking it more serious than him. Mm-hmm. He got off a couple. Take that, motherfucker.
Starting point is 00:50:58 Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Now Brad Bill, I got to go... I got to go tighten these things up for real now. Like y'all said yesterday, Nick Young with the motherfucker G-Show. That's when a nigga gets you. Wait, I need a jersey and some shoes.
Starting point is 00:51:12 Come on, man. Bring them on out here. Like, nah, that's just what happened, man. So it could be true that he hit a couple. Because, you know, AAU, you hit a bucket on an NBA player, that's it. You won. You won. It don't matter if you get stopped at you want
Starting point is 00:51:27 Do scored on Michael Jordan at his camp like That's it. Look that means the rest of his life. Yeah, I could give there was no He'll be like, but I bust my gas man. I'll give you a good reference Tim one The shooting guard Should never go up against a nigga and lose.
Starting point is 00:51:46 I'm going to cherish this moment for the rest of my life. For the rest of my life I'm with this nigga. 10-1. And he got to figure out a way
Starting point is 00:51:55 to get his face back. The sad part is it was technically 8-1, but I'm giving him Oh my Lord. Give the shirt say 10-1. No, no.
Starting point is 00:52:02 What the shirt say? What the shirt say, man? So what's the record? 10-1. What the shirt say? What the shirt say, man? So what's the record? 1-0. He retired. Frank is 1-0. He retired. 1-0.
Starting point is 00:52:11 I'm undefeated. Oh, he got to come out. He got to come out soon. I'm ready, though. I'm prepared. You ready? I'm prepared. Just not in the hot sun.
Starting point is 00:52:19 Not in nobody's backyard. I need air conditioning. I need air conditioning and shoes and shit. I'm ready. So when you were in the league, did a high schooler or an uppercomer ever catch you slipping? You could tell me. We're in Gills Arena.
Starting point is 00:52:31 We ain't going to tell nobody. Gills is us four on the couch. And there ain't thousands and thousands of people watching us. Catch me slipping? Never. Chris Paul wasn't in high school. Yeah, Chris Paul. Yeah, he got me. But he wasn't in high school. No, but, yeah, Chris Paul, yeah, he got me. But he wasn't in high school though.
Starting point is 00:52:47 He was coming in. Oh, coming in to the league. High schooler? Not because, usually when I came to play, I was already ready. So like when I came to like do real runs and shit like that. Real run. When I came like to play real runs and shit like that, nah, I was already. Yeah, for sure.
Starting point is 00:53:04 I was already apexing. I was already in shape, all that shit. Let's go. I got something to show shit like that, I was already. Yeah, for sure. I was already apexing. I was already in shape, all that shit. Let's go. I got something to show y'all, motherfuckers. McKay, like you said, we've seen it happen at the Drew League. That's the thing with Drew League. Love the league. Amazing.
Starting point is 00:53:16 Shout out to Dean and everything they're doing over there. But certain guys, like league guys, aren't coming in playing at the highest level. But like you said, anytime you light some up, you got to bring it. Because in the world we live in now, that video comes out, that edit, the music's nice, the transitions. That's all it is. Wop-wop you and...
Starting point is 00:53:33 Now you're mad. Now you're mad. Or you don't jump as high as somebody go up the duct and put you in the rim. Like, nah, see that? I'm going to bed time. Give me that shit. it's it's it's weird it's it right now is the perfect time this is like you're not getting an nba player that's in november december january that's not the guy you're playing against right now.
Starting point is 00:54:05 Right? This dude is just trying to get his feel in. Right? September. I've been working on this move. Yeah, September, he's going to be getting ready for training camp. So the guy you're talking about and you're busting, that's not a guy that you watch on TV.
Starting point is 00:54:21 Right? This is like the worst of who he's going to be. Right? Last month, this month. He's been just training on certain things. He ain't really in full throttle yet. I don't give a fuck about none of that shit if I'm Cooper and them niggas.
Starting point is 00:54:35 That's the point though. There's not going to be a lot of context no matter what happens. Like I said, we heard from sources that it did not happen to refute Brian Scalabrini, Trojan. I'm pretty sure he got a buck at all. I mean, he's 6'10 it did not happen to refute Brian Scalabrini, Trojan. No, for being Philly. I'm pretty sure he got a bucket off. I mean, he's 16. He's been playing AU all summer.
Starting point is 00:54:49 I'm pretty sure, you know. All right, what's that? What you got? You know, jab, pump fake, go dunk. I'm pretty sure that happened. But that was like last year at Rico's run. I think Harden, somebody got a bucket on Harden. And the narrative became Harden was getting cooked in the run.
Starting point is 00:55:01 And then you talk to Earl and Rico. It's like, huh? Jordan Crawford made a whole career of dunking on LeBron at LeBron's camp. Never happened. Boom. Boom. Dunk on his ass. Never seen the tape.
Starting point is 00:55:11 Definitely seen the tape. Definitely seen the tape. Definitely. They definitely saw that shit. And they were like, hey. Boom. Got him. But young fella was a bucket, though.
Starting point is 00:55:20 He was a bucket. Oh, he was a bucket. But that's what got the attention on him being a bucket. It was like, I dunked on LeBron when I was in high school. Nigga, what's up? The fact they made that tape disappear. They disappeared quick. I love LeBron.
Starting point is 00:55:31 LeBron was in Cleveland. He said, that's some straight mafia shit. Get the fuck out of here, nigga. What y'all doing? Better not scrub from the internet. But I was going to say, have you seen a high schooler privately bust an NBA player's ass during your time? Or like a young college guy.
Starting point is 00:55:44 Like you used to play at the Jordan camp, right? Didn't that Wimby dude bust Rudy Goldberg's ass during your time. Or like, you know, a college guy. Like, you used to play at the Jordan camp, right? Didn't that Wimby dude bust Rudy Goldberg's ass? Yeah. Does that count? Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:55:52 It does? Counts. I heard, I heard, they said, that, Austin Rivers, a.k.a.
Starting point is 00:56:02 Andrew Tate, younger brother, I heard he was busting, like, I don't know if it was Paul Pierce. Remember KG was telling the story? Yeah. He was telling the story about Austin was up there, and he was playing by one-on-one, beat Kedrick, maybe Ray Allen. And then, you know, he called out KG.
Starting point is 00:56:24 And then he scored a couple times, and KG's like, oh, hell no. I'm going to tie my shoes up. Fuck this. And then had to go hard on him. Better. That's what happened. From the beginning. Austin Rivers was nice.
Starting point is 00:56:35 Those highlight tapes. I think some great stuff. Now, let's keep this thing moving, switch it up a little bit. Let's talk about Stanley Johnson. Eighth overall pick by the Pistons in 2015. Came in the league with high expectations out of Arizona. Bear down. Bear down.
Starting point is 00:56:52 Y'all say that. Bear down. Mm-hmm. For his career, Johnson's average is... Are you mad y'all don't got no slogan? We don't need a slogan, Gil. Nobody going to Tucson in the summertime to work out. So y'all don't got no slogans based on what you're saying? What is our slogan? We don't need a slogan, Gil. Nobody going to Tucson in the summertime to work out. So y'all don't got no slogans based on what you're saying?
Starting point is 00:57:08 What is our slogan? What's UCLA's slogan? Champions made here. Nah. That's not a slogan. That regular folks can say? Go Bruins? Yeah. Woo. Yeah, that's not menacing. As long as they went to Arizona, as long as they went to Arizona, no matter what they
Starting point is 00:57:23 did, you say bear down, they know what's going on. I'm not even going to hate going and playing at McHale. Probably closer to the NBA environment. Y'all was with like 20,000 strong, T-Lux, a lot of board niggas out there. How many championships Arizona got? What? One, two? One.
Starting point is 00:57:40 Just one? When was that? Like 97? 97. 97. Oh, okay. How many North Carolina got? I, 97? 57? 97. 97. Oh. Okay.
Starting point is 00:57:48 How many North Carolina got? I don't know. Too many to count. Did you win one when you was there? More than 11? I won one. I won one. That's pretty good.
Starting point is 00:57:56 You're gonna bust your ass. I won one. You're gonna bust your ass. There's only one team that scared us, and that was them motherfuckers over there. I won one. Y'all were menacing. Nah, nah. It's just that we thought we was the shit until. I wouldn't want it. Y'all weren't menacing. Nah, nah, it's just that we thought we was the shit
Starting point is 00:58:07 until we seen that highlight too. Yeah, I'm telling you. Nah, we good. Y'all keep them prisoners over there. Oh yeah, we definitely, we definitely don't want no prisoners. Keep them prisoners over there. We had nobody to match up with them two niggas.
Starting point is 00:58:16 Nah, I'm playing that. Them niggas had too many, too much shit. That basketball didn't look fun. Now, we played Carolina with Brendan M. Y'all spanked on them, man. Hell yeah. Chicago. Was that Joe Forte and them?
Starting point is 00:58:28 Yup. Spanked the fuck out of them. In Chicago, yeah, Brendan first shot, I went up and grabbed that shit out there. Clearly gold. Give me that shit. I told him I was going to do it. But you was in Spain. I told him I was going to do it.
Starting point is 00:58:39 I said, because I was already on the schedule. We were playing U.S. He was shaking in his boots after that. World University. I told you, I'm going to try not to let you. I promise you won't score. Y' shaking in his boots after that. World University. I told you, I'm trying not to let you, I promise you won't score. Oh, y'all saw them in Spain before?
Starting point is 00:58:49 No, I'm saying we played on the same team. Oh, okay, okay. World University game. Oh, okay. You know what I'm saying? He was on the team and yeah,
Starting point is 00:58:56 I'm talking shit. It was already on the schedule we was going to play in with the grade eight shootout in Chicago. Yeah, he went up, I grabbed it right out the head. Got that shit.
Starting point is 00:59:08 Goal to him. Yeah. UNC 6 National Championships. Oh, you got it? Not near 11, but... Yeah. More than one, though. One is so close to none.
Starting point is 00:59:18 What time is it? Let's talk to... What? Back to Stanley Johnson. For his career, the average is six points, three Browns close to two assists. But when asked if he was a bus,
Starting point is 00:59:29 he offered this perspective, a bust. I don't know. Right? Like, I'm sorry that you guys traded me for a player who never played. Bus means you didn't try. Bus means like you didn't do shit.
Starting point is 00:59:44 The bus is quitting to me. Was I a bus, meaning did I do my expectation for the Pistons? Hell no. And I'm not okay with that, meaning I want to fix that too. But I did my best. I tried. You know what I'm saying? And to say a bus is not trying.
Starting point is 01:00:02 Understand, my first year, I didn't have to show up my first year. I didn't have to be at the first training camp. My mom died 15 days before that training camp started. I didn't have to be there at all. Let's be honest. So, like, I gave my heart and soul and tried my best. Yes, I was dumb. Yes, I made mistakes. But a bus, you call me a bus,
Starting point is 01:00:20 then we're going to have a long line of busts in this bitch. No, he's right. There's a long line. Absolutely. No, there's a long line of bust in this bitch. No, he's right. There's a long line. Absolutely. No, there's a long line of bust. He's a fellow Arizonan. I'm just saying. I mean, that's one thing he was right about.
Starting point is 01:00:33 I own it. I own it. I was a part of the bust. You feel like you're a bust? 100%. What is a bust? Because, listen. No, listen.
Starting point is 01:00:40 It's not. It's the expectation that people have for you, for your talent, and the potential that you're supposed to produce. Every single player who's considered a bust coming from Stephen A. Smith, that's the definition, is the expectation. Whether you go number one, whether you slip. When you come out of college, if you was predicted to be this guy, you didn't pan out to be that. The definition is considering you to be a bust. You did not pan out to be that, the definition is considering you to be a bust. You did not pan out. Stephen A. Smith didn't come up with bust. Who came up with it before
Starting point is 01:01:10 him? Don't know. Exactly. It wasn't Smith. No, so he's never said, he's never called nobody before. Yeah, he did. He came on TV and said that shit. When? Before the 2001 draft, I think. He wasn't even in the NBA in 2001 draft. Who wasn't? Stephen A. Smith. Yeah, he was covering the Philly. He was covering the Philly
Starting point is 01:01:26 as a beat writer. But he was coming on ESPN sporadically. 2005. Might have been Fox Sports. No, no. It was 2002 during AI's run. He was Fox Sports. He used to work my pops back early and those things. His whole thing with the Sixers was going to win a game in that
Starting point is 01:01:41 championship in the finals. They won and then that propelled him. But it was when Kwame got drafted, before Kwame got drafted, it was when they was allowing all of these high schoolers to come out. And it coined that just because of the expectation of what you had not going to college. So I understand what Stanley's saying, but there is a long, like you said, a long list of niggas that didn't go up and pan out to their potential. And if it's not called a bust, it's just a disappointment or we're disappointed you didn't do what you're supposed to do.
Starting point is 01:02:14 And I feel like to own up to it, I did average 15, but that wasn't, that's not my potential level. I didn't reach my potential. I didn't, you know, take advantages of the things that was supposed to be taken advantage of and shit. I didn't get a second chance to try to do that shit. Stanley, he had chances to prove that he could do shit. What pick was he? And he was a high school phenom.
Starting point is 01:02:39 The hype around him in high school. Fuck up, man. Listen, I was the number one pick. I made one all-star team. Everybody else number one picks besides Ola with Candy. Made more all-star teams than I have.
Starting point is 01:02:54 I don't look at my shit as well. I was the number one pick. Y'all can kiss me dead in my ass, bro. You got hurt, though. One of the biggest injuries we've ever seen. I had injuries all that shit throughout my career, but still, what I did for my teams, night in, night out, could nobody else fucking do. You could be considered a bust then.
Starting point is 01:03:13 Because on paper, I averaged 12 for my career, 13 for my career. You know what I'm saying? You look at that shit, all of a sudden, Kane was a bust. Number one pick. He should have averaged it, oh, then Kenyon was a bust. Number one pick. He should have, but that could be the, that could be, but I know what the fuck I did.
Starting point is 01:03:31 You ask motherfuckers the teams I played on, could we win and do what we did without Kenyon? No. So therefore, the people that's saying
Starting point is 01:03:39 these opinions about bust ain't never fucking played. Who you played with, though. It's like who you played with. Yeah. It's like who you played with. Yeah. It's like you played with motherfuckers who did things where you didn't have to do as much. And on the days they wasn't there, you killed. So you couldn't be a real bust.
Starting point is 01:03:57 But I was the number one pick. But what is his skill? You know what I'm saying? He was defensive. You know what I'm saying? He was a slasher. You know what I'm saying? He was slasher. You know what I'm saying? Coming out of high school, he was supposed to be one of those guys. Okay, so like
Starting point is 01:04:11 Tyson Chandler, right? Yeah. He was never expected to average 15 to 20 points. He was a defensive guy, a hustle guy. But coming into the league though, would you say that? No.
Starting point is 01:04:27 Yes, coming into the league, he was a defensive player. I mean, that's what he was. Yeah, he was never going to average 20-some points. But at Dominguez, would you say? Yes, you would say he was a phenom. He was, oh, my God. He was a phenom. He was an athlete. He was an athlete.
Starting point is 01:04:38 That's what I'm saying. Rebounder. Like, in that draft, the most offensively skilled person was Eddie Curry when it came to skill. Natural skill. Back to the basket, post-court, footwork. He was the one that offensively was supposed to be dominant. That's why they drafted both of them. It was defensive.
Starting point is 01:04:59 That's why they drafted both of them. Yes. One was a defensive guy. When you look at Tyson Chandler, his his numbers, like that matches his skill. Yeah. 20 years he played, that matches him. He can never be called the bust. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:05:12 Right. If your potential is supposed to be this, like you're supposed to be some guy who's going to average 20. We're going to put our franchise on you as the guy who's going to carry us. And you don't. That's where it comes from. No one put the franchise on this man. No who's going to carry us and you don't, that's where it comes from. No one put the franchise on this man. No. You're number eight pick.
Starting point is 01:05:31 No one put the franchise on you. No. Right? So that's not, that's not a, that you're not a bust. You just didn't pan out. And then you're looking at the facts.
Starting point is 01:05:38 I just speak on my situation. You look at the facts, right? If I don't leave the Eastern conference in 2004, right? Forced to leave. Not by choice, like forced out. Wasn't offered a contract with the Nets.
Starting point is 01:05:53 I'm playing in the East at the time. What other fours in the East that was doing what I was doing? You know what I'm saying? Like that situation messed me out of multiple all-star appearances. So all these things are factors. I go to the West. Panda 4. Timmy. Tim. Dirk. Amari.
Starting point is 01:06:11 KG. Zach. Zach. She is just... You know what I'm saying? Off top. When I sign my contract to go to... I'm already... I'm already.
Starting point is 01:06:25 Boozer's there too. I'm already 6'7". So just imagine. But if I don't leave then the narrative is nowhere near what people might try to put out there. You know what I'm saying? These are facts.
Starting point is 01:06:41 How much thought did you put into that before? Did you have any other offers from Eastern Conference teams? How much thought did you put into that before? Did you have any other offers from Eastern Conference teams? How much thought did you put in? Hmm. Who they had at that time? The O.N. But still, me going to Atlanta at the time wasn't the fucking best move. Personally, it was not.
Starting point is 01:06:59 No. 26-year-old Kenyon in Atlanta, not the best move. It all depends on the effort you give like my when I say bust it's bitch you should have tried bitch you should have tried right so like when I look at
Starting point is 01:07:16 someone and say alright well I can look at who's in front of you and say well you just ain't getting the opportunity right you go out there you playing hard now you got to change your role to fit the team you and say, well, you just ain't getting the opportunity. You go out there, you plan hard. Now you got to change your role to fit the team. You're doing what it takes. If you just didn't fucking try,
Starting point is 01:07:32 you were in luck. That's what that bitch you should have tried. That's how I look at it. When we sit there and say, all right, you're number one, number two, three, pick this and this. All right, let's see how you play. But what are you gauging?
Starting point is 01:07:47 What are you gauging? What are you gauging? That you should have tried. Where is that you should have tried coming from as you're watching? Are you saying the nigga not going for the ball? He's not playing at a level of the rest of everybody else. He's playing down in the competition. Like, where is the metric of?
Starting point is 01:08:03 You've seen the game. You've seen players. They're not prepared. I'm trying to give you a better comparison of what he's playing down in the competition. Like, where is the metric of... Oh, you compare... You've seen the game. You've seen players, they're not prepared. I'm trying to give you a better comparison of what he's talking about. If you compare Detroit taking Darko instead of Melo... But why was Darko playing the way he was playing when he got there? I'm saying, but if you compare the careers, right? Darko was the best compared to Melo, you know what Illow you know because they took him to foreign you know i'm saying when
Starting point is 01:08:28 you have the opportunity to draft somebody of mellow's caliber and you compare the careers of course they're going people going to say darko's a fucking bus you know i'm saying because he was there second pick all that shit and he didn't from what what everybody says about him he didn't work or he didn't do these things that was worried of a number two pick to come in to try to play to your point. You know what I'm saying? So then if you compare the careers, then it's like yeah, he... But I was there when Darko was playing. I was in Detroit.
Starting point is 01:08:53 He did not get any opportunity to prove that he could play. But what I'm saying... What I'm saying... But he was never going to get... That's what I'm saying. He was at a disadvantage but be honest and be honest. He was at a disadvantage Mellow Wade Bosch. They should all should be happy That Detroit picked him because at that time rip was way gonna be starting over rip when he first got there
Starting point is 01:09:17 Yeah, no, no, no way would have went to Detroit. No Right, huh? Oh three Bosch. What oh three. Oh Oh three. Wait. No, you're talking about the D way we know now I watch the Detroit pieces before that Oh 14 and they was there was Corliss Williamson Clifford Robertson Oh the team they got swept You talking about a special? Now think about it. Hey, that team that got swept in the playoffs? Now, is Bosh going to outplay Rasheed Wallace?
Starting point is 01:09:56 I mean, Rasheed had just came. I know, but is he going to outplay Rasheed Wallace? No. So their careers wouldn't have panned out the way it is now because of the team. You went to a team that was, they didn't play very well, and they got a top pick. So whoever got there was like, like Mello would have had the only chance because he had Tayshaun Prince, but that would have been split in time. But Larry really didn't like playing younger players either. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 01:10:24 You're right. You're right. So my thing is when i watch you play how did you play were you going out there giving max effort were you going out there every time you made a mistake but think about the mentality think about your expectation to plan if you got an expectation to plan and you only plan eight minutes ten minutes you play Exactly. But your mentality of knowing you, you were expecting to play minutes where you can get comfortable, but then you don't
Starting point is 01:10:49 and you already create resentment of the coach and the players and you over there. I remember, partying with Darko, he's just like,
Starting point is 01:10:56 I don't fucking play. I don't give a fuck. I'm going to get fucking trashed tonight. But then you become busted. That's what I'm saying. But his mentality wasn't that in the beginning.
Starting point is 01:11:04 It wasn't, it became that over time after you see that I'm not going to play. Because I got these. I got Ben Wallace. I got Antonio McDyess. And I got fucking Rasheed Wallace in front of me. There's no chance of me playing. No chance. But that's what I'm saying.
Starting point is 01:11:18 I can't respect it because I was a 15th player. 31. I don't suppose to play. I have Larry Hughes, Mookie Blaylock. I got, um, shit, I had another kid who got drafted. Dean Oliver. I have, um, Bobby Sura. Right?
Starting point is 01:11:35 Jason Richardson. I have no chance of fucking playing. Right? You give me two minutes, I'm taking five shots. That was a different mentality. I'm taking five shots. Mentality, though. People are like, how you take five shots?
Starting point is 01:11:45 Easy, foul. Easy. Foul. Go to free throw line, get the ball back. Score. Foul. My bad, coach. What are you going to do?
Starting point is 01:11:55 Send me out, niggas got on ice. I ain't doing nothing wrong. Fake hustle. Fake hustle. I got two minutes. I got two minutes. The two minutes turned into four minutes. Four minutes turned into eight minutes. You feel different Right, so but that's what I'm saying
Starting point is 01:12:08 So I can't I can't accept that you sit on the middle. I ain't gonna never get in They got to blow somebody out like they like I need to be prepared when I get the minute All I can do is my part. I can't sit there and say well until you give me some time Well, I gave you two minutes here. I gave you four minutes here. I gave you eight minutes here. What'd you do with it? Well, shit, that ain't enough. Oh, no. I've seen it.
Starting point is 01:12:30 That's why you were an inspiration. I've seen it. Look, I remember. I'm sitting here. Dude, it's the funniest shit ever, though. But first of all, we got the Gatorade bottle. He done already took. So it's two beers per Gatorade bottle, right?
Starting point is 01:12:44 So we're in the fourth quarter. So he don't eat. So he's two beers per Gatorade bottle, right? So we're in the fourth quarter, so he on eight. So he done. He's just sitting there drunk like a motherfucker, right? And he talking shit about Antoine, not guarding T-Mac, right? So T-Mac doing the same fucking move. He going to post up, right? And then if we quarter front, he going to get the double back screen, come out the other side, hit the jumper.
Starting point is 01:13:03 Right? This motherfucker, they pay him the max. He can't say move, watch. Front, back screen, boom, hit him. See, if that was me, I wouldn't even front. I'm going to just let him catch. He's going to try to do a little, so he's talking all this big shit. Right?
Starting point is 01:13:16 Drunk to the mother. Coach shoves his ass in. Bah. We can say eight beers. Bah. Go get him. Right? We're like, oh, shit, this nigga about to stop the shit,
Starting point is 01:13:25 that nigga, right? T-Mac post up. Quarter front. Check out, boop boop. Get your drunk ass out of here. But right there, it let me know like, yo, they gonna make an example.
Starting point is 01:13:42 So I gotta be ready and that's when I really start engaging. So when I say, yo, you're creating your bus. You're following the narrative that someone's trying to give you. So I can't say they didn't give you the opportunity, because I can look at your stats and say, oh, you got six minutes here, you got eight minutes here, you got five minutes here. What did you do?
Starting point is 01:14:04 That's what I'm saying. You built differently. I'm built differently. Certain niggas that took those opportunities. I knew that learning from a nigga that taught me, not necessarily you, but similar guys. I was like, Shai, when you get in the fucking game, don't take
Starting point is 01:14:20 these minutes for granted. Because I used to, my first 20 games, I wasn't playing until the end of the game. And I used to, my first 20 games, I wasn't playing until the end of the game. And I used to be like, man, fuck this shit and passing the ball. Until I said, I don't give a fuck about one minute, two minutes. I'm getting three, four, five shots. I'm not passing to none of y'all niggas. I'm about to show at least I can score this bitch.
Starting point is 01:14:41 And then I started bringing the team back casually when I came in. We down 20. Next thing you know, we come out of the game, we down 10. I started bringing the team back casually when I came in. We down 20. Next thing you know, we come out of the game, we down 10. I started seeing the value in that. But these guys that we talking about didn't have that mentality then because of the type of guys that was in front of them. They wasn't thinking, man, I got two men. They was like, man, fuck this.
Starting point is 01:14:59 Give me two men. I'm about to go party. I can't wait. I got bottles waiting. But that's what I'm saying. So when we ask a question, when someone says, yo, that's a bust, we know what the mentality was. Yep. Right?
Starting point is 01:15:11 So we can't protect you if you gave up on yourself. Gave up. That's it. That's where the bust is. If a coach says, hey, we down 30, and I'm sitting there like, oh, we're about to leave. And coach be like, yo, sub. And you look at this, 30 seconds? And you be like, I'm good.
Starting point is 01:15:28 Nigga, ah, ah. Yeah, got 30 seconds. One shot at Washington. Washington. Go on that motherfucker. Foul. Shit. Aw, shit.
Starting point is 01:15:37 I'm going to get my shot off. Like, shit, what the fuck? What the fuck am I supposed to do? Now, you put me in the game when I got in the game 0-0. 0-0. 0-0. That's why I don't believe in sportsman like Condor. Fuck whoever came up with it. Fuck you. Yep. Fuck you. There's people who's coming in the game
Starting point is 01:15:53 that's wishing for these three, four minutes, and you talking about they should hold the bucket? No. Shut the fuck up. No. I was one of them niggas. I got three minutes left in the game, man. I'm trying to get more minutes. I don't give a fuck what that score is you trying to score on me I'm trying to score on you if it's okay to be
Starting point is 01:16:10 down 20 and go quick offense then it should be okay for the offense who's up 20 to keep pounding on that ass man woo major I'm saying like imagine you in a game you up 20 and I come in I'm like oh shit and I'm saying, like, imagine you in a game, you up 20, and I come in.
Starting point is 01:16:26 I'm like, oh, shit. And I'm sitting here trying to score. And then you get the ball. And like, nope, you got it. One, two. You got it. And I come back down there and come and score on you. Eventually, you're going to be like, oh, fuck that.
Starting point is 01:16:37 Hey, swing it. Swing that bitch over here. Motherfucker. And that swing off that bitch. For sure. Nah, so. I'm with you. Nah, I don't. Motherfucker. And that swing off that bitch. For sure. Nah, so. I'm with you. Nah, I don't.
Starting point is 01:16:48 Yeah, listen. I'm leaving that. But that's what the bus is. You should have been stopping me. If he thinks himself as a bus, then that means that's inside your own effort. And that means you know you really didn't. But let me take that shit back then. I can't consider myself no goddamn bus then.
Starting point is 01:17:02 Because I was a maximum effort 100% of the time. I gave a fuck. You know, you didn't play that much your rookie year early on. We had Cam Thomas on the show last week briefly. You said at times you were depressed. Mentee physically gave up. So how hard is it? And Kenny obviously came in number one.
Starting point is 01:17:18 He was playing like 34 minutes a game. So you was getting that. I'm just saying, you was getting that opportunity. You was getting that opportunity. This ain't part of me. Yeah, I know. But how hard is it to make that transition from being the man in college to now being a rookie and having to get DMPs, having to sit on the bench?
Starting point is 01:17:32 Because, you know, I hadn't played that much in college. So you sit on that motherfucking bench for a good hour and a half, two hours, and now get legs start atrophying and all that other shit. You're not warm. You got to go out there and try and perform. Like, how hard is it making that transition? No, listen. It's the, you know, when you're coming into the NBA,
Starting point is 01:17:51 you're trying to take someone's job, someone's minutes, right? Like, you're teammates, but really you're independent. Yeah, you're coworkers. Right? You know, you're coworkers. But listen, we're on the team, but we're fucking co-workers, bro. We earned a fucking paycheck. Your check don't include me on it.
Starting point is 01:18:11 Yep. And vice versa. Yep. Go ahead. Sorry. That's real shit. So when you're in training camp, it's 20-something individuals trying to go for these spots, right? So when you're sitting there day in and day out practicing, sometimes you don't even get to practice because the person that's
Starting point is 01:18:31 in front of you is still trying to get some more minutes, right? Especially at the beginning of the season and you're sitting on the bench knowing you can contribute, even if you're ready or not ready, mentally it starts weighing in on you, right? It is the hard, like, I'm really depressed. Like, I'm sitting there like, yo, like, do I even belong here? Like, you're watching talent just unreal, right? Like, warm-up line, you're seeing shit that you can't even think of doing, right?
Starting point is 01:18:59 You're like, ah, damn. And then he go sit on the bench like, damn, damn. Motherfucker sitting there doing all kinds of shit. Then he go sit on the bench like, damn, damn. Motherfucker sitting there doing all kinds of shit. Then he go sit on the bench like, damn, I can't even. It's hard. It's a rude awakening. It's the first rude awakening of reality.
Starting point is 01:19:15 This is the apex of your sport. And you got to try to figure out how to crack it. And it's not, like I was mentally strong and i broke yes i broke like i like i caught the aid man can i come back to college man where's that nba that was in summer league where them niggas at like where they at where that summer league nba i was ready for them this is some this is a whole nother beast of i, I'm not, and it took me time just watching, like understanding this.
Starting point is 01:19:49 It's not about what I can't do. It's about what I actually can't. What is my skill that I have over the, okay, I'm fast. I can shoot. I'm quick. Right? Right? I just have a knack for scoring.
Starting point is 01:20:03 So let me start trying to process that. So, now I started watching the game different. Right? I'm watching a game on, if this was me, what would I be doing? So,
Starting point is 01:20:12 fuck the game of its own. Like, you know, I'm just watching. All right, okay, J.K. coming down. I would have took that.
Starting point is 01:20:20 That was a hell of a pass. How do you see that shit? Right? Like, you start like watching, you start watching it from a different lens, right? Instead of this just hateful lens that I have, I'm starting watching and trying to, like, incorporate all this thing.
Starting point is 01:20:32 Okay, he's running down. All right, he's, okay, that's the deal. He's going full. Like, you start really understanding what makes them great. Man. Some people do. Like, that's what you do. That's what I had to do other than that
Starting point is 01:20:45 you're just sitting there just mad angry hating the person in front hoping for injury like bro hurt your ankle all real no and then well like i got i need fit i need i'm 15 i need damn in six ankles to be hurt in my position let me let me chime in on that because, I mean, from the same perspective, just one coming off a championship, right? So Dwayne Casey. Dwayne Casey. I think he's talking about this trash-ass nigga, man. He didn't play rookies, right?
Starting point is 01:21:18 But, you know, coming in, I had gained a camaraderie with KG, gave me my nickname. He's seen my talent, seen the potential. And I had Trenton Hassel in front of me, Wally Zerbiak in front of me, but was playing good enough preseason in the practices, felt good. DMPs play 12 minutes in the second quarters every now and again. But then you start finding yourself on the bench with a hot pack on your knees. You ain't never had a hot pack ever
Starting point is 01:21:46 So you don't even know what to do with the hot like what I'm supposed to do with this Did you guys keep it on you? Right? So some games you wouldn't play some games. You only play six minutes some games You know you go in up coming down 30 because we wasn't that great. So it was like we was always down So it's like mentally you gotta like you said lock into perspectives of watching the game who you watching how you would guard it how you would score inside the offense it makes you more in tune with being a team player because now you gotta be like all right in the offense where i'm gonna get my shots oh this is how kobe getting his shots oh this is how he would do it this how they guarding this this how i'm gonna stay in the game longer if i don't foul i'm gonna let that nigga go because i'm used to like as a championship type player foul get that take that foul you know get that one and it's like nah
Starting point is 01:22:37 nigga because if you get two you out don't even matter if you ain't playing in the fourth it's just two fouls so then you hit that rookie wall where the DNPs climb up. You don't got the stats. You got the whole rookie game. You got the highlights for your rookie cards and all this stuff that you be thinking about because some people are chiming in like, hey, man, you're not fucking playing, man. What's going on? Are you trash? What's going on? Are you trash?
Starting point is 01:23:05 What's going on? And it's like, no, I'm out there doing my thing, but I'm trying to find my footing. And you can't really find your footing if you're not really playing. So Dante Jones and Quentin Richards go back to the Ricky Transitioning program and they told you, he's like, y'all going to play and y'all going to be busting niggas' ass in practice and you're not going to see the floor.
Starting point is 01:23:24 You're not going to see the floor. You're not going to see the floor. How are you going to respond to that? And it's like if you don't go into the lab and use that transition to your game, you're going to find yourself hating on motherfuckers on the court. I can't wait till this motherfucker get hurt. Fucking, I have Marco Yards was on my team. 46 million.
Starting point is 01:23:42 I knew I was going to get paid. I gave this nigga 46. I got to give me 50. I had never seen none of it because I had a lot of DNPs and coach started, you know, oh man,
Starting point is 01:23:55 Shadi, you're just young, man. You're going to buy your time. You're going to buy your time. And his ass get fucking fired. Fucking Randy Whitman. Motherfucker didn't like me. You know what I'm saying? Circumstances can create the situation
Starting point is 01:24:09 where you're now thinking about shit that you shouldn't be thinking about when you should just be focusing on the game. So we talk about being a man in college, being able to do things on the court, doing what you want to do, right? Now you come to the league, you got to find what that NBA skill is
Starting point is 01:24:24 that's going to get you another contract sometimes it's not the same thing you did in college so do you feel like guys struggle trying to find what that that elite NBA skill what that skill is that's going to keep them around it's like Draymond said Draymond dropped 32 in the game seven on finals right but I got Steph and Clay on my team I don't need to shoot on this squad like that's that's not what I but some dudes come in the league like well I'm aorer, but you got to figure out other shit to be able to sustain because we already got whatever it is, that thing you think you have. No, no, no.
Starting point is 01:24:51 Sometimes you have to figure out, like, early what you can contribute to a team to get on that floor. Right? What is some, and that's, like I said, I was a defensive player when I came in. Right? I realized players ain't picking up full court. So when I got in, I don't give a? I realized players ain't picking up full court. So when I got in, I don't give a one minute, I'm picking up full court, right? That's like I got my ass shook by Carlos Arroyo. But yeah, so I'm picking up full court, you know, doing a little token defense, doing that.
Starting point is 01:25:17 You know what I mean? So I'm doing, I'm trying to do something. So when coach is like, oh yeah, you know, we need to change the pace. Young fella, he picks up full court. And that was my thing, picking up full court. So that's how I got on the court, even though I'm an offensive player. We got Antoine Max. We got Jason Richardson.
Starting point is 01:25:39 We got Troy Murph. We got Danny Ford. They got plenty of scorers. They didn't need me scoring, but they didn't have nobody going to pick up full court. So that's how I got now easy layups here and there. And then eventually over time I got, you know, put me in five minutes and I'll come up and pick. Okay, I'll shoot the thing. So you have to figure out how to
Starting point is 01:25:56 get on the floor first. Yeah, my thing, so back to y'all point about DNPs and not playing and, like you said, checking out mentally and things like that. I didn't go through it. But had I been in that situation, I would have loved for somebody to have a conversation. You know what I'm saying? Like, come talk to me, man. Yep.
Starting point is 01:26:19 Like, tell me why I'm not playing. Yep. Like, let's go eat dinner, lunch, breakfast, after practice. Like, talk to me. Because if I'm a coach and I'm looking at relationships and I hear about other teams, how the coaches are with their players and why the relationship, why they play the way they do and certain things, you hear about the relationship
Starting point is 01:26:41 with head coach and player, right? And the conversations that's being had. This is why you not playing. This is the thing that you've done well. These are things that I need you to try to be better at in order for me to try to play you, to see if I can rely on you. If somebody come tell you that early, what can you say to that? You know what I'm saying? What can you say to that?
Starting point is 01:27:07 You can't take it personal like this motherfucker don't like me. Nope. No, I'm not doing what he asked me to do in my job. You know what I'm saying? Instead of just letting a young guy come in and try to figure out why the fuck I'm not playing. You know what I'm saying? Him looking in the mirror coming up with every fucking reason
Starting point is 01:27:24 imaginable. You know what I'm saying? I can only mirror coming up with every fucking reason Imaginable I'm saying I can only imagine the shit that was going through like just take like Steven Jackson our rookie year Stack was starting playing great minutes You just come to a point. We just stopped playing him Don't tell him why don't have a conversation with him nothing Playing great as a rookie. We rookies together, but just don't have the conversation with him. Now he up there trying to figure it out. Like, why am I playing, man? Like, I'm doing everything.
Starting point is 01:27:52 I'm showing up early, I'm working hard. I'm getting extra work in. I'm doing this and making good at the minutes that I was getting. Man, and it just, man. Yeah, so. You know what y'all situations were like? It's a monster.
Starting point is 01:28:04 What was your relationship like with your head coach when you when you got drafted like we was coming in together we was coming in together as rookies you know i'm saying me and byron came it was byron's first gig you know i'm saying so we was coming in together you know what i'm saying so we were fresh off the porch and then we had a situation something was was said, and I went into his office like, nah, bro. Not the guy. Nope. To you or to the media? He said it to the media.
Starting point is 01:28:32 But I wasn't a child at the time. So I go in and out like, nah, we ain't doing that, brother. Nah, uh-uh. This is, you know what I'm saying? Don't forget what I'm just coming off of and all. Don't challenge that. They ain't never been challenged. I ain't finna start with you. You know what I'm saying? We ain't no with you When no issues from but I'm saying so My relationship is dear because it was that we both was rookie coach. He was a rookie coach
Starting point is 01:28:53 I'm rookie player and I'm number one pick so you fucking gotta play me. Yep. What's going on? I'm gonna play hard. I'm gonna do my job, but you gotta play me Y'all ain't been nothing forever. That's why we got the number one pick. So, you know what I'm saying? So, it was different, but conversations early on. You know what I'm saying? If I had not been in, I just would need those conversations to happen.
Starting point is 01:29:17 You know what I'm saying? Like, tell me and then let me go out. And if I'm still not doing it, then, yeah, okay, I don't expect to play. But if you come tell me this is the things I need for you in order to try to get on the floor and I go above and beyond
Starting point is 01:29:30 trying to meet those expectations and you still don't play me, now that's on you. It ain't on me. You know what I'm saying? But because we had that conversation
Starting point is 01:29:39 and that's what I think a lot is missing in sport and especially our sport. I'm saying just the honesty and the conversation. You know what I'm saying? Come talk to me, man. I'm a person. Like, I have fucking feelings, emotions.
Starting point is 01:29:53 My brain works well, and I think. Like, so, come talk to me. Like, treat me as a person. You know what I'm saying? And that's why I think Steve Kerr is great at it. Pop is great at it. Sposher is great at it. These places that's been successful and had success over time,
Starting point is 01:30:11 those are the reasons. They treat them as people and they care and they come talk to people and tell them why they're not doing this or if I need something from you and you tell me no, now I got or.
Starting point is 01:30:26 You know what I'm saying? The conversation is had. That's what makes a good coach. That's what makes a coachable player. It's a player that's expecting to be told why he not playing. Like, coach, if I'm not playing and I'm producing in practice, at least pull me to the side. Young fella, keep doing something.
Starting point is 01:30:41 Keep doing what you're doing. You're going to get your time. That's giving me the confidence to keep doing what I'm doing. I know at some point he going to play side, young fella, keep doing something. Keep doing what you're doing. You're going to get your time. That's giving me the confidence to keep doing what I'm doing. I know at some point he's going to play me, but if this cold turkey and you're just not playing and you're looking up, you keep looking up at the time, you're like, man, I played yesterday. I ain't playing today.
Starting point is 01:30:56 Fuck. Fuck, man. What the fuck is going on? Would you feel like that relationship was like with Dwayne Casey? Was he communicating to you or was it just... Hell no. He was at the point where hene Casey? Was he communicating to you? Hell no. He was at the point where he didn't even want to talk to the rooks. And I was the only rook. So it was literally like I felt that he was shading me because I was outgoing.
Starting point is 01:31:19 I was talk. You know me, I'm going to talk that shit. He had to make a rule, rookies can't talk in practice. So then it was like when i wasn't playing rookies can't talk rookies can't talk in practice like even if we're doing a drill no don't talk nothing and then i still kept talking so it was like i would just it was a sneeze for me it was just a natural reaction so when i wasn't playing i'm just trying to figure it like he said you gotta figure it out on your own. But when you got a good coach that's going to come to you and tell you,
Starting point is 01:31:49 hey, look, your defense one-on-one, you get straight line drives from the wing. You don't come over on the charge line. You're late on your two nines. You don't deny on the wings. It's like, hey, the eye in the sky don't lie. We showing you this shit. If you don't get better, you're not going to play. That's accountability at that point. I take that full accountability,
Starting point is 01:32:10 but when you're just not playing me because I'm a rook... Because history says that I shouldn't play you. That's different. Like, that's... History says I shouldn't play a rookie because I... Unless you this top pick and we suck and you just get free ram to play bad basketball.
Starting point is 01:32:32 You know what I'm saying? Man, that shit fucked me up for real. I think every coach should do this. This goes from, you can't do this in the NBA or college level, but high school level, AAU level, not high school, real games, but like the summer league, like right now, all you head coaches out there, listen, to really get your players to understand
Starting point is 01:32:56 where you're coming from, do this. Take your best two players, tell them they the coach. Right, and you sit your ass at the end of the bench and then say, now you coach every decisions on y'all. Now for the first time, they're in your seat and then what you're yelling at, they can actually see it because now they got a sub, they got a sub in, now they gonna be like, yo, get back on defense.
Starting point is 01:33:19 And now the players that they're yelling at don't get back on defense. And they get to really understand your side of the point. So now when they went through two days of coaching the same players, they have an understanding. So when you start saying something to them, they'll really understand. Make those players responsible. Yep.
Starting point is 01:33:39 Like, hey, y'all coach, I'm going to sit at the end. We'll talk after. We'll talk after the game. You just sit there. Them motherfucking funky asses, they're going to be trying to put their little friends in. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And then eventually, hey, y'all got to win this game. You see why I don't play that motherfucker.
Starting point is 01:33:53 You know what I mean? And that's just sometimes you just got to just reverse the roles and then give them the responsibility. Once they see the responsibility, now they understand. Because at some point, when I'm pointing, I don't really understand the shit you're talking about. Because your view ain't my view. My angle is different than yours,
Starting point is 01:34:12 so when you're saying it, I don't really understand it. I don't see that shit you just saw. He looked open, but he wasn't open from my angle. He looked open from my angle,
Starting point is 01:34:23 but God damn it, he wasn't open from your angle. So we're both right and we're both wrong. Yep. Right? Just different views. So it's like, yo, sometimes you need to switch, sit down, let your players coach. Go ahead, coach.
Starting point is 01:34:36 Let me see what you do. Yeah, let me see. So you can see what I'm watching. You can see what I'm doing. You can see that you guys are not going as hard as you think you are. Y'all not passing the ball like you're supposed to be passing. And eventually put the stars back in, ate two sub benches. Y'all coach.
Starting point is 01:34:52 Coach him for the second half. But we sitting there on the side just like the coach here. We see the shit. As the bench player, we see like, this nigga is not going hard. He missing assignments. And then we come to the timeout. Nigga, don't say nothing to him. You ain't say nothing. He just assignments and then we come to the timeout and they could don't say nothing to him You ain't say nothing. He just missed two straight assignment. Oh cuz he the star. Yeah, are you gonna say nothing?
Starting point is 01:35:11 Don't tell me shit. Yeah, I was watching this clip. I think it's on tick-tock. There's a baseball coach He goes out to the mound and he's talking to his kids and they listen man. I mean he said yo We only in the third inning, and I only got three more beers, and we down eight runs. Oh, listen, hey, man. He said, are you friends with these kids? Are you throwing the ball across the plate on purpose? Like, listen, he is going at, listen, I'm sitting there like, yo,
Starting point is 01:35:39 he is telling the honest to God truth to these kids, man. Yo. Third corner guy. I only got three beers left. We down eight runs, so, yeah, somebody's going to have to truth to these kids. Yo. I only got three beers left. We got eight runs, so yeah, somebody gonna have to make a store run. Like, yo, it's like at the baseball, I'm like, yo, man. Playing friend ball.
Starting point is 01:35:55 You friends with them over there? Shit, you playing with them? Shit. For real. Yo, man. But you talk about, you know, you come in Dwayne Casey, Casey gets fired, Randy Whitman comes in, kind of same thing in college, right? You get a new coach in, you're not my guy, I didn't recruit you, I didn't But you talk about, you know, you come in Dwayne Casey, Casey gets fired, Randy Whitman comes in. Kind of same thing in college, right?
Starting point is 01:36:05 You get a new coach in. You're not my guy. I didn't recruit you. I didn't bring you in here. So, you know, unless you're the star guy. I've seen it with my own eyes. Oh, you're the star guy. You go into the league.
Starting point is 01:36:13 I'm going to put that on my resume. I'm going to fuck with you. But how much is getting drafted in the right situation impact a player's career? Because there's 30 teams, like you said. Some teams do stuff exceptionally well. Some teams do some bullshit. And now as a a young impressionable rookie having to walk into that like what's the culture of that team and for a lot of times we'll call a guy a bust but he might be rolling into a team that's a bust in terms of how they approach even playing a game of basketball so you know how much is being in a right or wrong situation impact a guy's career?
Starting point is 01:36:48 I mean, the situation is the most important part. As just any player that's getting drafted, you want to be in a situation where you get to really play and learn from mistakes and all that. Like when Golden State had the second pick, right? Who the fuck wants to be drafted to Golden State? If you're mellow ball, you don't want to be drafted there.
Starting point is 01:37:12 If you're ant-man, you don't want to be drafted there because they have players that's demanding. Yeah, you might win a championship, but the chance of you turning into a superstar. To your point you made earlier, we were talking about the Darko thing.
Starting point is 01:37:32 Chris Boshman going to Toronto, Melo going to Denver, D-Wade going to Miami. That was a blessing. Yeah, for sure. It was a blessing. To your point. Yeah, absolutely. Most of the times, most most the guys who were considered bust unless they were just trash and they just got picked off the potential is usually the guy
Starting point is 01:37:51 who got drafted to a team where it was already a great team they just had a bad year and got that draft right and i mean it helped it helped tim duncan because they didn't have nobody in his position so he got thrown right in to be that last fit. But usually you're one of those guys and you get drafted to a team that already got that player, you'd be sitting there like, man, damn, dog. Darren Williams, Utah, with the team that they had, they had no point guard.
Starting point is 01:38:22 He fit right perfectly in to a system that needed a guy like him who can pocket pass, shoot that bitch, come off pick and rolls. Niggas is moving around. Carol Link going on them. Chris Paul to New Orleans. J.R. Smith had just had his whole little outbreak. Thought it was going to be sweet, sour salt. Nope.
Starting point is 01:38:40 CP, come in here and run this shit the way we need it. Stoyakovich. You had Sue Butler and Mo P and David West Tyson Chandler like they turned it into a system right and then you look at Raymond Felton he go to Charlotte with
Starting point is 01:38:57 practically nobody but maybe Gerald Wallace at the time and it turned into nothing right and then certain players went to certain places. Charlie Villanueva went to fucking Toronto. Didn't get to get off like he needed to. Channing Frye goes to New York. Bullseye.
Starting point is 01:39:17 Certain guys go to certain places and they fit in right away. Certain guys go to other places and you forget about them immediately because they got to fight for their spots. They're on teams that's either trash or they're on teams that are too good. And I always tell guys, it's like, it's not really about your draft status. It's about where you go.
Starting point is 01:39:37 You can go number one, number two, number three and feel good about that shit. And you go to fucking the Timberwolves or Sacramento at the time where they was just trash. And it's like, bro, if you're not Tariq Evans coming in to the Sacramento Kings situation, average 25 and 5, nigga, it's bus season for you. How much does age impact that?
Starting point is 01:40:02 You number one overall pick, but you played four years of college. You coming in as an adult versus guys 18, 19 that maybe don't need to be thrown in the fire right away, could benefit from being on a team like the Warriors or the old Piston squad where they can learn from a couple years and treat it basically like it's a couple extra years of college. Back in those days, the guys were coming straight from high school too, so this is the shit you're not getting in college. We're not even going to let you get out there and cook for a few seasons. But you, what, 19 when you came in the league?
Starting point is 01:40:28 You were just a different dude, though. You know what I'm saying? I mean, it all depends on the situation of what the team is looking for, right? Be honest. It's like, unless you're an older guy coming into the draft, you, 18, 19, 20,
Starting point is 01:40:44 you're not the best player on the team. You're not the best player. You're not beating anyone out. Your status is what's getting you on the court and the ball's coming to you. When I started playing, I didn't beat Larry Hughes out for a spot. He got hurt. I didn't beat Bobby Surr out for a spot. So if I had to beat them out for the spot, I probably would have never played. One got hurt. One didn't want Bobby sir out for a spot, right? So if I had to like beat them out for the spot, I probably would have never played
Starting point is 01:41:06 One got hurt one didn't want to start they put me in I Took off by the time Larry came back. They're like, hmm. If you come back we don't have to pay you now No, thank you. We just gonna keep rocking with the young fella, but it's not like I took the shit from him No, right. You know, we play anytime play once, he whooped my ass, like, embarrassingly. Like, 23, 4, 25, 25, 5. Like, it wasn't close. Right? So it's not like the young guys that are starting are actually beating the players out.
Starting point is 01:41:38 They're just inherited because they're supposed to be the future of it. So you're trying to give them as much minutes as possible. Yeah. Right? Versus someone who's older where he can come in and really just dominate off rip and become, you know, what he is. Right? That was like the Kuzma-Ingram. Right?
Starting point is 01:41:55 You can see Ingram would have been a lot better, but Kuzma was ready right then. So they're like, yeah, we're going to go with Kuz. Yep. He was cheaper, too. He was older. He was older. He was older. Yep. Older, we need him right now.
Starting point is 01:42:08 You know, there's young talent. You know, that potential is tricky. He looked more seasoned, too. He looked like he understood the NBA game a little bit more, you know, like you said, a little older, a little seasoned. He's cool with it. Ingram needed time. He learned a lot from going to college and being coached.
Starting point is 01:42:26 Just learn how to play basketball, man. You show up day one ready to fucking play. You've been coached for a few years. I ain't saying you got to go long. You can get coached before then, but going to, and it's a horrible thing, you know what I'm saying, that they penalize you for sticking around and learning your craft, you know what I'm saying, that they penalize you for sticking around and learning your craft, you know what I'm saying? Like, if you trying to be a professional basketball player,
Starting point is 01:42:55 you need to go practice, just like fucking anything else. Like, you can't come out at 19 and you want to be a fucking brain surgeon and you got to be one fucking brain surgeon and you got to be one year removed. Huh? So they let you crack somebody's head open and go to operate. One year of experience. You want to be removed from high school. No way. Come on, man.
Starting point is 01:43:16 Doogie Howie. Not even Doogie. Not even Doogie. You ain't learned nothing. You're right. You can't go work on no fucking rocket ship. One year removed from high school. No way. You don't know how to.
Starting point is 01:43:31 That's why I just go back to me. Four years of being coached. Coached hard. Learning how to play basketball. The right way. How to work. What work ethic is? No, I averaged three points and shot 30% as a freshman in college man
Starting point is 01:44:01 Y'all hear that man average three points I started a handful of games as a freshman. I'm coming in as this McDonald's All-American, all this hype. I worked my ass off for four years and listened to this man. What'd you say? Okay. What'd you say? Okay. Okay. I show up. Day one. Off of
Starting point is 01:44:20 torn ligaments, broken leg. Day one, rookie rookie year ready to go hard work man being coached you know I'm saying and knowing okay
Starting point is 01:44:31 they can rely on me already we wasn't that good my rookie year but they can rely on me as a rookie it's a young fella play oh a young fella go a young fella do this
Starting point is 01:44:41 a young fella do that young fella you know what I'm saying it's you learn how to do what you're supposed to Young fella go, young fella do this, young fella do that. Young fella, you know what I'm saying? You learn how to do what you're supposed to by working at it and being coached and taught. It's crazy that they penalize you for that. And we did, for me, I did three years and refused to do the fourth year because we won.
Starting point is 01:45:02 If we didn't win, I would have did the fourth year just because you got to win. for me. It was about winning But it's the experience of doing three years and dominating at my position That was the most important thing if i'm gonna come out and go to the nba is because I was the best shooting guard Owned in the draft period none of you niggas can see me. Wasn't no nigga gonna be before me It's coming out of high school or anything one year two year i'm third year i'm seasoned i done seen all y'all game i know the scouting report y'all ain't touching me i'd improved it from the freshman year sophomore year junior year i know how to play and i've played with a coach that was hating and i played
Starting point is 01:45:42 with a coach that was expected to win. So when we did win, it was like, yeah, he, he relied on me to do that, to lead the team. So it's like the experience of having three years, like King is saying,
Starting point is 01:45:54 it matters because it shows in your game, especially when you're having the expectation to do certain things and you got your coaches, whatever it is, but you still can gather your mentality to say, I'm still going to play team ball. I'm not going to lose myself on being selfish and trying to be about me when I know this team ain't about winning.
Starting point is 01:46:14 So I still got to maintain some type of integrity of what I've come from. And I think that's all important. That's lost in the game right now. None of these guys have experience enough to come in and make an impact where it's like you see the maturity. You see it. And you come in just
Starting point is 01:46:30 just take the Houston Rockets last few years, right? KJ came in at 19. The next year they draft Jalen Green, KJ 20. Next year you draft Jabari Smith. Now Jalen 20, now he's 19.
Starting point is 01:46:53 They ain't got no Kevin Porter 22, Josh Christopher 19. Who they look up to? Who they learn something from? Eric Gordon. He's quiet. He's not saying nothing. He's not that kind of a leader. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 01:47:07 So who can they go to? So now you're looking at the guy that's, like KJ was in year three last year. KJ looked at the old, he looked at the vet. He's the oldest one.
Starting point is 01:47:15 I've been here longer than y'all. For sure. For sure. I'm 21. About to be 22 and y'all looking at me, y'all looking up
Starting point is 01:47:23 because I've been here three years now calling a big bro big bro og what's up og you know i'm saying just come on now like so it's the blind leading the blinds man they're not no experience they ain't learning nothing man and they doing these kids a disservice with it you You know what I'm saying? You can't tell me, it's just hard for me to believe that there's no place for Carmelo Anthony on the team
Starting point is 01:47:53 right now. Man. You ain't got to play him. Just have the conversation with him. Hey, this is what we need from you, man. You can throw you out there and I know what you did, but this is what I need from you. I need you to teach him how to be pros. Yep. This guy, just, that's what I need from you. I need you to teach them how to be pros. Yep. This guy, this is what I need from you.
Starting point is 01:48:09 Yep. And them young guys will be tuned in because this Mello, he even did it. You know what I'm saying? Like, they ain't going to listen, but he a threat. See? Yes. Mello a threat in the locker room because they going to listen to him. Not the coach.
Starting point is 01:48:24 Because this coach that ain't never played, you didn't gave him this job, he didn't work his way up behind the scenes and been favoritism, you know what I'm saying? That and all that. Yeah, all this nepotism shit, you know what I'm saying? That. It's what it is, bro. That's real. He was one of the assistant coaches in Minnesota.
Starting point is 01:48:46 He worked his way up. And they don't respect that shit, you know what I'm saying? And then now Melo a threat in the locker room. They just don't want him around, which is bullshit, but we ain't doing nothing but trying to fucking help. You know what I'm saying? That's all he's doing. But them dudes, man, it's sad that they don't know how to play and they ain't learning nothing and
Starting point is 01:49:06 Black can come from man being yeah Shit, let's keep this thing moving Nah, that's that's what we hear that's it. So we hear for serious real quick So we're gonna cancel it under dogs that we get to come back for one more day We won't be don't fuck it up. But now let's go. Last segment of the show, mostly fans. We asked the fans to put the questions out. We offered 50. If you put your underdog username in there,
Starting point is 01:49:32 they came through. Questions are getting better, fans. A lot of haters in the chat, but y'all are intelligent. I actually know y'all shit. Y'all getting better. So we'll start with Big Chubb. He said, what's y'all...
Starting point is 01:49:44 That's his name. Use me? Big Chubb. He said, what's your... Paws. That's his name. Use me? Big Chubb. That's his name. Major Paws. A-O. No, okay. I'm an old man, dog.
Starting point is 01:49:54 You're just a messenger. I'm just a messenger. Oh, man. If somebody's going to fuck me up like Ron Burgundy in here one day. Sound like one of the commentators on one of the adult sites, man. Little Chubb, Big Chubb, Medi Little chub, big chub, mediocre chub. But what's y'all go-to or favorite pregame meal? Like, what do y'all eat before games to get you right?
Starting point is 01:50:12 I eat Boston Market. Yo. I hear him. I hear him. Bro, I used to eat that shit, too. Boston Market was a movement. Mac and cheese. Bro, the mac and cheese.
Starting point is 01:50:22 Yeah. The chicken with the sweet potato. Got the corn. Sweet potato. Bro, I swear. Every goddamn game. 41 home games, 41 pregame meals. You said there was one around the corner for me, too.
Starting point is 01:50:42 Boston Market was an institution. And in Boston Market, you look at the spots or a show, why not holler at Gil's Arena? Is there still a Boston Market was an institution. In the Boston Market, you look at the sponsor and show, why not Haller A. Gill's Arena? Is there still a Boston Market left? But they had like the Carvey Station, all that shit. But is there still a Boston Market left? Yeah, there's got to be at least one. One Boston Market, one Boston Market. At least one.
Starting point is 01:50:57 I didn't have one. I was all over the place. What kind of food were you eating? I'm very curious. Shit, it depends what I did the night before, to be honest. You had a chef?
Starting point is 01:51:09 Hell no. Damn. That was funny, except I had no chef for that. No, it depends on what I did. If my mom was in town,
Starting point is 01:51:15 she might make me something before the game or I might be moved for a tuna sandwich or I might be moved for a burger, might be some fruit or salad.
Starting point is 01:51:25 I just... Whatever you felt like some fruit or salad. I just- Whatever you felt like. Yeah, yeah, I didn't have one thing to go. My routine started when I got to the arena. Like I didn't, that, my only thing- Oh, you started when you got to the arena. Only thing was routine was my nap on game day. Yes, yes.
Starting point is 01:51:37 Like my nap on game day, but my meal didn't. How long, you took a nap too, right? I was a nap guy. I take a nap, I'm taking a nap today. I wish I got- Every day. Nap man. Soon as this show is over, I'm taking a nap too, right? I was a nap guy. I take a nap. I'm taking a nap today. I wish I could. Every day. Nap man. As soon as this show is over with, I'm taking a nap.
Starting point is 01:51:48 Food and nap. Workout, food, and nap. Yeah, I wish I could. I was a nap guy during the season. I'm a nap guy during the season. And the crazy thing is, on game days, I would sleep in the bed with my nap. And on non-game days, I had to sleep on the couch. It was the weirdest thing ever. Like, on non-game days, I could sleep on the couch. It was the weirdest thing ever.
Starting point is 01:52:05 On non-game days I could not go get in the bed and take a nap. I don't know what it was. I just had to lay on the couch and take a nap. I guess I wasn't trying to get too comfortable, but on game days I really needed to be in that environment to be... That couch work wonders
Starting point is 01:52:21 too, I'm going to be honest. I didn't eat the same thing, man. I get to the fucking arena some days and send a ball board to get some nachos or something. For sure. I can afford to do that. Were you asking for your change back? No, I was a generous temper. Good man.
Starting point is 01:52:40 Good man right there. Generous temper. I have my fucking change. Hey, no. Where's the pennies? I'll give you a dollar until you get the $7 nachos and keep the chain. You know what I'm saying? I'll give you $100 until you keep the chain.
Starting point is 01:52:51 That's what I'm saying. That's a good man. Always, you know. Man, you didn't hear. I was robbed, nigga. I understand. My fucking coins, nigga. Every single quarterback.
Starting point is 01:53:00 But you got to present it like that. Like, nah, I already got it. So KJ go to locker rooms, right? And some of the ball boys and stuff are still around. Hey, man, tell your pops, man to present it like that. Like, nah, I already got it. So KJ go to locker rooms, right? And some of the ball boys and stuff are still around. Hey, man, tell your pops, man, appreciate it, man. He used to look out for us, man,
Starting point is 01:53:09 when he was... Sure. Yeah, nah. Get the ball boys on your side. We can make your life miserable as a former ball boy. I'm saying, nah. I used to look out, man.
Starting point is 01:53:18 Ball boys is the best. They got me the right number out of the stands. Give you a tip. This guy. Give you the right tip, nigga. Give it to the right girl, not the wrong one. That's the wrong one.
Starting point is 01:53:29 Nigga, that's the wrong one. Nigga, that's the wrong one. And just so y'all know, it's a Boston market nine miles away. Van Nuys. Stop it. Okay. Bring the heater. Hometown, Van Nuys. Yes, sir. Alright, so next question.
Starting point is 01:53:44 This comes from his underdog. Username is Cahill1419. You get $50 coming if I ask the question. I'm going to check the chat to see if you said anything. If I ask the question. I'll see if you said anything fucked up or flagrant. All right, we good. We can keep it rolling.
Starting point is 01:53:57 What is one skill you would add to your game back when you were playing? Like, you know, looking back at your game, what was one skill you would have to your game back when you were playing like, you know looking back at your game? What was one skill you don't want it to add? one skill Cuz I was talented. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah Pass it a little Not know the dead ass Pat no, more. No, no, dead ass. No, no, no, no.
Starting point is 01:54:27 Like, I can pass the fuck out of the ball, but that J. Kidd and Steve Nash, like, the shit they saw. Like, I wish I had that. Like, that shit they saw, like, oh, you got him sealed? I can't get it? All right, let me throw it off
Starting point is 01:54:42 at the edge of the backboard. Boom, boom. Like, shit like that. Like, you know, bowl it. Like, he's me throw it off at the edge of the backboard boom boom like shit like that like Like you know bullet like he's right here spinning dinner. Yeah, like damn. I seen it damn Hey, you bold that thing loose hair just picked it up and laid it up like Bold it loose hair is running down the lane He bowled that thing he slowed the ball slowed up right by the rim You can lose pick that thing up and laid it up, dog.
Starting point is 01:55:06 Like that angle. Like it speeded up and just boom, stop. Right back to him like, damn. Yeah. That's one thing. When I see him passing, there's passers out there, man, that the shit they see, the things they try and do, it's just unreal, man.
Starting point is 01:55:27 Both hands off the bat. I mean, since high school, St. Joe's and Alameda on through the fucking cow, but like, that you just knew. No, I watch film, right, and I'll slow it down, and I'll see him do something like, coming for me, boom, right? And then all of a sudden, throw it. And I'm like, wait wait he never even looked back
Starting point is 01:55:45 We look back. I got another one. So we playing Philly He getting ready to do a reverse layup I'm coming down the middle of the lane I don't know how he saw me dudes jumping the block like three dudes jumping the block is reverse layer Mm-hmm. He go and just throw the ball out in front of the rim. He don't even try to lay up He going just thought like going to regular move throw the ball out in front of the rim. He don't even try to lay up. He go and just throw, like, go into the regular move like he finna shoot the reverse and just throw the ball in front of the rim. And I just
Starting point is 01:56:09 come down the middle, just, I'm like, yo. And I come down, I'm like, like, how did, like, dude standing right in front of, like, to your point, he throw the ball, right? Like, can't, go get it. Go get it. I think J.K. just knew you was the type
Starting point is 01:56:26 of nigga that he could throw that bitch up because when you got a nigga like ken on your team bro like you could go in there and do some bullshit i'll watch it though and i'm just watching like when i watch videos i'm looking like what would they look what were they looking at? Like, all right, okay. I'll see somebody be like, oh, no look. But no, you looked at them. And then you did that and did that. Like, J.K. never looked this way, period.
Starting point is 01:56:55 He just, joom, joom. And just. Hey, just tip them off. How do you know he was still running? Yeah. But your eye would be like that. Yeah, my mind would be like this new age, same foot, same hand finish, that shit. Like, in a Euro shit.
Starting point is 01:57:13 Like, that shit mean. You'd be giving me, mm-mm-mm. I'd be like, oh, shit. Same hand, same leg. Like, that shit is, like, that shit's so, I'd be trying to do this shit in the gym and look stupid doing it. How y'all do that? Like, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, that shit is so awkward to me still to this day.
Starting point is 01:57:33 Yeah, that kind of shit like, yeah. I would say the Kyrie touch, man. Having touch around the rim. I mean, it was one thing, cause I love the dunk on niggas when I got down there, but to have that touch like him and Monte Ellis had that touch where you get all that flipping and dropping and just, ugh.
Starting point is 01:57:54 Like, A.I. was the one that I think had it the best cause he would, he would not, like, we didn't think he had left. Couldn't go left. Cause he would never finish with his left, but he always finished with that bitch on the opposite side. Then you started seeing other guys like Monte do it. Then Kyrie just, man, took that shit to a whole other level.
Starting point is 01:58:12 So if that was anything, I felt like I had a pretty complete game outside of that. Just touch around the rim. Niggas like Kenyon come out there and change the shot. And if you wasn't dunking that bitch, he was blocking that shit. So if you had a touch around it, you could hit that bitch off the rim and spin it in. He'd make that nigga mad. Motherfucker make that shit.
Starting point is 01:58:33 I just shot jumpers when I played against him. I ain't getting embarrassed down there. He's somewhere around this motherfucker's soul. I had my best game against Denver. I had my best game against them. I had my best game against them. 34 off the bench. Yeah, King calling out the plays.
Starting point is 01:58:48 Oh, yeah, he going to drop it. That coach is like, we playing against your old players, man. Do another play. King right now. All right, next question we got. His underdog fantasy tag is Yankee next door. So I don't know if that's an A.O. pause moment. That's New York Yankees.
Starting point is 01:59:08 But it's E-Y. It's Yankee. It's Yankee, not Yankee. Whoa. It's Yankee spelled E-Y, not Dewey. He threw it two ways. He had all this action. He had all this shit. Take that.
Starting point is 01:59:23 I J.K. involved it. It'll be in a year. Y'all seen that Tubi shit where the nigga, he shoots the gun. He shoots the gun. Stop it, man. Oh, my Lord. I love television. Would y'all rather lose a 3-1 lead or get swept in the final?
Starting point is 01:59:41 Swept. I want to get sweat. Because when I was down 0-3, mentally, before we just going home, right? I don't call you, yeah, yeah, yeah, you can just ship all the cars and we ain't going to finish this one, right? Like, I got sweat by
Starting point is 01:59:57 the heat, right? And going into that game four, it's like, yeah, yeah, you know what I mean? But you can see motherfuckers just sitting there. 0-3-1? Mm-mm. Man, I can just,
Starting point is 02:00:10 I can only imagine. I got three. I got three. We just, we fucked around and just didn't take they ass serious. I can imagine this,
Starting point is 02:00:19 the mental, the mental warfare. You're up three, like you up 3-1. Like you, ha-ha, yeah, right? Yeah, we're about to, yeah, everybody go to the next warfare. You're up three, like you up three one. Like you, ha ha, yeah, right?
Starting point is 02:00:27 Yeah, we're about to, yeah, everybody go to the next round. You start thinking next round type shit. Then in three two, like yeah, no, no, no.
Starting point is 02:00:34 Then three three, oh no. Niggas probably got, they probably got their ass whipped. But that's a self, that's a self implosion, right? I've been swept in the final,
Starting point is 02:00:42 so I ain't got a rare experience. Like that game, what's up, oh game four, no, I came, I been swept in the finals, so I ain't got a rare experience. Like that game with the bus up there. Oh, game four. No, I came out at 17 in the first. Yeah, so you? At 35 for the game, so I was trying to win. But how about everybody else? I don't know.
Starting point is 02:00:54 Yeah, yeah. No, I ain't going to say we weren't trying. No, I'm just saying, but like. But I just came out with a mentality like, fuck that. We're going to get one. I'm not taking it. Hey. I'm not taking those.
Starting point is 02:01:03 Hey, we're going to get one. Got to get one. And they just. Three. But you're up three. Yeah, you're up three. One'm not taking those. We're going to get one. Got to get one. But you're up three. You're up three-one. It's an internal thing. Sweep ain't got nothing to do with you internally. Your ass just can't show up. Remember them Lakers?
Starting point is 02:01:16 I'd rather get swept three-one. I'd rather get swept four. I'd rather get swept and let the team come back. You're up three-one. Yeah, that's deflating. Let the team come back. You let the team come back. And you up 3-1. You up 3-1. Yeah, that's deflating. Not winning a game. Not winning one.
Starting point is 02:01:32 You're down 0-3. Think about it. You're down 0-3. The possibility of you winning, you're done. No, but I can get one and then they're coming to get us. But even if you get one. But imagine you're up 3-1. Think about your mood. You're up.
Starting point is 02:01:42 You're celebrating. I'm more pissed. I'm more pissed. Oh, we got celebrating. I'm more pissed. I'm more pissed. I'm more pissed than hurt. Hurt is I didn't win a game, nigga. Because in the playoff series you figure once you get up
Starting point is 02:01:55 like that, we got them. Yeah, we need one. The fact that you lose it, that hurts more. That's like losing the game by, like you're in the fourth quarter. You go into the fourth quarter, you're down 25, right? And we lose by 25. I can see that coming.
Starting point is 02:02:13 Right? They come all the way back for someone to hit a game winner. That hurt more. Give you hope. Hope fucks you up. You got three-one and you know that team is capable of coming back
Starting point is 02:02:28 and you just don't put the hammer down, like that's on y'all. Like y'all fucked that up. Oh, getting swept, man, y'all didn't have no fucking chance. But you already processed that when you were down three. You processed that we could lose. They're better than us. They're better. You down three-one, you're better than them.
Starting point is 02:02:48 And they came back and whooped your ass. That hurts. When we talk about teams right now, it always seems that was up 3-1. We never think about it. One thing Golden State didn't do, they didn't let Cleveland come back. Trust me.
Starting point is 02:03:02 They didn't let them come back. That hurt more. No, they didn't let them come back. They took that. That hurt. They took it. They took it. They took it. They took it. They took it. They took it. They took it. They took it. They took it. They took it. They took it. They took it. They took't let them come back. That hurt more. No, they didn't let them come back. They took that. That hurt, but it hurt more. They took it. So it hurts more. They took it. It hurts more then. What I'm saying is zero, you don't
Starting point is 02:03:16 get nothing. The whole thing with us is we here. So we might as well win. We here. We traveling all this way. We done all this shit. We might as well win. Might as well win. We here. We traveling all this way. We done all this shit. We might as well win. Might as well win one. You're turning up for those three wins, basically?
Starting point is 02:03:31 I'm just saying. When I played Miami, they swept us. Good season, y'all. Ooh. Yeah. They did their day. Got the fuck out of there. Right?
Starting point is 02:03:43 It was ass upoping game one, ass whooping game two, ass whooping game three, ass whooping game four. We got the game one. It don't matter. We process getting our ass whooped
Starting point is 02:03:56 by the team. It matters. That's just saying, dude. It matters. You won the game already. You won. When you're up 3-1, what is the percentage
Starting point is 02:04:04 of coming back from 3-1? None, damn near. That's why it shouldn't hurt because it's rare. It's so rare to the point only two teams have done it. Hey, man. It hurts. You niggas deserve that shit. You're talking about the winner.
Starting point is 02:04:16 We're talking about the loser. How do you think it feels for the loser? We let it get away, man. It's our fault. That is not. I'm more pissed than hurt. I'm more pissed. That shit hurts your soul. Because we shouldn't have
Starting point is 02:04:30 let this happen. I'm pissed. How the fuck we let this happen? I done been on both sides. So it hurts you. Which one hurts more? Not the 3-1. I ain't been on the 3-1. No, I don't know. If we up 3-1, we getting you out of there. We don't get you out of there. But mean, we going to get you out of there.
Starting point is 02:04:45 But that's what I'm saying. But if you don't. I didn't swept teams and I didn't been swept. So I didn't been on both of them like, damn, we going to get these boys out of here. So when you don't, right, that feeling like. Yeah, you got to get this next one. Got to get him. But like I said, I'm more pissed than hurt.
Starting point is 02:05:03 I'm hurt if I don't get no win. Niggas is fighting in the locker room. I can tell you how much 3-1 hurt. When Kevin Durant got caught 3-1, I left. He left. I ain't fucking with y'all motherfuckers no more. Go to state, here I come. That's what happens after 3-1.
Starting point is 02:05:20 3-1, you up 3-1. I'm glad you said something. You ain't friends no more. I'm not friends with you no more. I don't want to hang out. I don't want to be your friend no more. I don't want to come to the locker room no I'm glad you said something. You ain't friends with no... I'm not friends with you no more. That hurts. I don't want to hang out. I don't want to be your friend no more. I don't want to come to the locker room no more. Fuck you, dude. Fuck this whole city.
