Gil's Arena - Gil's Arena Reacts To An INSANE Final Day Of The NBA Season

Episode Date: June 23, 2025

Gil's Arena Reacts To An INSANE Final Day Of The NBA Season as Gilbert Arenas & The Gil's Arena Crew return to Gil's Arena and react to one of the crazy ending of the 2024-25 NBA Season. They kick off... the show by breaking down Game 7 of The NBA Finals where the OKC Thunder proved why they were the best team in the NBA all season and sealed their legacies with an NBA Championship over the Indiana Pacers. They discuss what this incredible season capped off by an NBA Finals MVP means for Shai Gilgeous Alexander and debate if this incredibly young Thunder team gave birth to the next NBA dynasty with their championship win. They then react to the most heartbreaking news from the night as Tyrese Haliburton's improbable run through the NBA Playoffs was cut short due to an Achillies injury that sunk the Pacers chances early on in this game. They discuss what's next for the Pacers as they must try and get back to the Finals without their superstar point guard next season and debate if it was the right call to allow Haliburton to play through a calf strain in Games 6 & 7. Next, they react to the blockbuster Kevin Durant trade that saw the NBA Legend get traded from the Phoenix Suns to the Houston Rockets in exchange for Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks and a handful of draft picks and set the sports world ablaze ahead of Game 7. They debate if this was the right move for the Houston Rockets as they look to elevate themselves into the upper tier of the NBA and discuss what's next for the Phoenix Suns after dismantling their superteam and leaving Devin Booker with a floundering franchise once again. Finally, NBA Champion Metta World Peace enters Gil's Arena to give his take on the incredible NBA Finals, break down his experience playing alongside legends like Kobe Bryant and Tracy McGrady and reveal the truth on being the face of the D-Band. Starting point is 00:00:00 Welcome back to Gill's Arena presented by Underdog. Good to be back in the arena after a two-day suspension. Conducting, how's everybody feeling? Thanks for holding me down. I'm glad you're back in that seat, man. I appreciate you. Oh my God. Yeah. You got pearls? You got your mama's pearls with you?
Starting point is 00:00:21 You got pink on? You got pink on, motherfucker? Nothing wrong with either. Nothing wrong with either of those two things. You got pearls? You got your mama's pearls with you? You got pink on? You got pink on, motherfucker? Nothing wrong with either. Nothing wrong with either of those two things. That's a diss. That's a diss. Why you got pink on today? Huh? Why pink? It's a good color.

Ni hao. Straight from Slauson. No, Yeah, special edition ready. How straight from Slawson? Starting point is 00:01:09 Gil feel good to be back. See you doing your thing on first take really want to give you love for that. Yes, put Stephen and a nice pack. You did. Now you did. What the people said. What the pre said. Have the all.
Starting point is 00:01:23 We have the take. Not the goal. May not have been the goal, but that's the result. You got the men on. We got one of the championships for Gills Arena over at FanFest out in New York. But this is Gills Arena presented by Underdog. As always, back on the couch, we got the legend Gilbert Arena is here with us. Go ahead, give me some.
Starting point is 00:01:42 It is championship time. It is championship time. It is championship Monday. We got NBA champion of the world, Swaggy P. Nick Young back in the building. It's a great feeling. Man, you did it. I heard it. I heard it.
Starting point is 00:01:54 A feeling that you know very well. Next is Swaggy, representing Tough Crowd, Tough Crowd University. We got Mr. B. Brandon Jennings back here with us. I heard it. Ho, ho, ho. See you doing your Tiger Wu on the golf course. That's my new thing.
Starting point is 00:02:08 Tiger Wu, I like him. That's your new thing? Yeah, that's my new thing now. I like him. Is he ready to be out there? Yeah, play a little. You do have the tough crowd golf glove. How long have you been out there this last week?
Starting point is 00:02:19 Every day. Damn. Every day. Getting his golf ball. And sitting next to me we have the distinguished gentleman from Oak Cliff, former number one pick, Kenya Martin, back in the arena. What's up? K-Mart, gotta thank you and Norris
Starting point is 00:02:32 for holding it down with the hosting responsibilities last week. Me and Gil were out in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin with the underdog, retreat, shout out to underdog, everything that got going over there for cutting the check, keeping us employed. Geneva, Wisconsin. It was cool the grand Geneva resort resort to oh yeah apparently should be Hugh Hefner's Midwest getaway back in
Starting point is 00:02:54 the day okay okay they'll smell like it a little bit the revenue the white diddy the white diddy for all the fans out there We still got to do an outfit for you. My traditional version mobile vertical version pictures. Everyone you want to watch just make sure you support the show. Here's what's cracking in the arena today. SGA led the Thunder to their first chip in franchise history. Are we witnessing the birth of a dynasty? It's a young squad.
Starting point is 00:03:21 They got nine of their top players coming back next season. Some big things may be in the works. Tyrese Halliburton left game seven with a devastating Achilles injury. What impact will Halleys injury have on the Pacers future? Hated to see it happen. Really messed up the mood of the game. Wishing Halleys all the best in his road to recovery. And the Rockets pulled off a blockbuster trade to land Kevin Durant from the Suns How much of a problem will Houston be with KD next season? I was saying that they are the the second best odds to win a chip after the trade went down We will discuss but before we get into all that as always this show is brought to you by underdog Go ahead download the app use promo code get up to a thousand dollars in bonus cash plus a special pick them and with NBA
Starting point is 00:04:04 Season over we're gonna try some a little different with our partner packs on the underdog app Use promo code GIL get up to a thousand dollars in bonus cash plus a special pick them and with NBA season over We're gonna try some a little different with our partner packs on the underdog app Instead of one partner pack from an individual each day the crew will each submit one pick they like for that night And we will make that partner pack for the day. We're making it communal ladies and gentlemen So Gil Brandon Nick Canyon and Rashad are sending one pick each per day So here are the rules of the competition because you know you need rules. If talent doesn't submit a pick, they will take a loss for the day. These must be original picks from the underdog app.
Starting point is 00:04:31 So you cannot buy points up or down like Gilby. Don't he be having them special boosted packs? Because he'd be calling the underdog connect. Getting the point totals all low and everything else. You can't get the normal pack. So we will tally up individual picks and the guy with the highest percentage of accurate picks Where we see a large sum of underdog bread before we take our summer hiatus in a few weeks underdog bread like Disney bucks You can use it on the underdog app
Starting point is 00:04:57 And if you win, then you could take that bread and do whatever you want with it. So here is today's group partner pack Let's take a look. So Aaron Judge hired 0.5 homeruns that's coming from Kenya. Jazz Chisholm Jr. higher 0.5 RBI's that's coming from Brandon. Page Becker's higher 9.5 rebounds and assists that is Gills pick for the day. Angel Reese higher 0.5 double double so Swaggy thinks that Angel Reese will have a double-double tonight. And Katelyn Clark, higher 19.5 points. That coming from Sonny.
Starting point is 00:05:32 There's no games today. There's only one WNBA game today. Oh, I thought we were just making picks just like whatever. You can go any sport, anything that you like, anything that you think is for sure. Yeah, you can do whatever you want Mr. B. This is our Gills Arena. Group pick the whole crew I went to I was looking at gaming and everything I think Jaskin I mean jazz definitely get an RBI yeah jazz chisel lip turning blacks if you use this boosted pack 44 times your bread if you hit how are you guys feeling about you I'm I want to know how you guys are feeling first then we'll see what the chat hit. How are you guys feeling about you?
Starting point is 00:06:05 I wanna know how you guys are feeling first then we'll see what the chat has to say. Are you confident as a group that you guys can excel with these partner packs? Ooh. I like my pack. I don't know. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:06:18 I mean, I don't know baseball. Me neither. I don't know the W like that. You do? Yeah. You know what I mean? I mean, like, yeah. You don't know baseball. But you a hell. You a hell. I don't know the W like that. You don't know the W like that. Why you got a baseball? But you a hell.
Starting point is 00:06:28 I don't know baseball like that. But I got a baseball jersey on today. I don't know the RBI. I don't know what it is. Running base incorrectly? Running base incorrectly. Are you serious? No, no, no, no, no bullshit.
Starting point is 00:06:44 You don't know what that is? Running bases incorrectly. Hold on, hold on. Real bat infirmary? Real bat infirmary. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
Starting point is 00:06:52 no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no run to the thing. No, I mean, it's like run to the thing. Run to the thing. They run to the home. They run to the thing. They run to the thing with what thing, Nick?
Starting point is 00:07:10 The home base. Nick said they run to the thing. Can you inform Gil with RBI means? Runs batted in? Yeah, that knew it. You know, you got to come meet the, so literally, games. So I was close. You could be a champion as well.
Starting point is 00:07:21 I just run in bases incorrectly. You said run in bases incorrectly. So again, so. It's only one way to go. well. Running bases incorrectly. No, I can't. Running bases incorrectly. Ah, I thought you didn't say run in. There's only one way to go. So running bases in. No. Runs batted in. Runs batted in.
Starting point is 00:07:31 So what does that actually mean? So if I'm a hitter, I get a hit, and a run comes in. Just say you're on third base. He get a hit, you score. He gets an RBI. Yeah. Or if the bases are loaded and I get walked, I think I also get an RBI. That's Or if the bases are loaded and I get walked, I think I also get an RBI.
Starting point is 00:07:45 That's what I learned in my little league. So is that harder than a home run? No, home runs are harder. You just need somebody on base. But a home run is an RBI. Home runs are also an RBI. You drive yourself. Oh, OK.
Starting point is 00:07:56 Yeah, for sure. So anytime somebody cross home play when you hit the ball. So Jazz, he just got to hit a home run or hit the nigga to go in. No, you just need to get the... And then hit one. Very eloquent way of putting it. Get a hit, somebody's on base, and they score. He just got to hit a home run or hit the nigga to go in My own base and they score okay, and Aaron judge He got he has to hit one over the wall Yeah, I don't know baseball but I know him this book again he's franchise so I know him shout out to all the little League coaches out there little league champion
Starting point is 00:08:25 That's a superstar So I know him. Shout out to all the little league coaches out there. Little league champion. See he's a superstar. I know him. Gil come coach me, you get a ring. You can be a champion across multiple sports. Six seven, two seven, five, three or two. He's like AI. Two eighty. So we asked the chat.
Starting point is 00:08:37 We good, we good then. I was just stalling to hope that the chat numbers improved but we asked the chat if they were riding or fading with the Gills Arena group partner pack for this evening. 48% of the chat numbers improve, but we asked the chat if they're riding or fading with the gills arena group partner pack for this evening 48% of the chat right? Is that a hormone is not an RBI a home run is our Y'all wrong Yeah, I know I know black. I know best boy. No, but shout out to Sammy Sosa, black again. He's black again. Sammy's black again.
Starting point is 00:09:06 Where is he? Give me a picture. Shout out to Sammy Sosa. Where's the picture? He is black again. Sammy, we appreciate you for coming back home. He is black again. He went by the name of Sam when he was white.
Starting point is 00:09:22 Just straight old Sam. If you like the Gilderita Group Partner Pack go ahead and use it on the underdog app. If you don't have underdog download the app, you promo code Gilderita for a thousand dollars in bonus cash plus a special pick up and if you can't watch the show live with us on YouTube we have audio versions available on Apple Spotify wherever you get your podcast. So a lot of things in the basketball world to discuss but we got to talk about the most important thing So let's get right to it.
Starting point is 00:09:45 The two best words in sports, game seven. That's what they say, my favorite two best words, super max, not guilty also, good combos. But before we talk, what went down Sunday, let's flash back to last week to see how we got there. So Tyrese Halliburton played through a strain right calf as the Patriots made light work of the Thunder with a 27 point win in game six six playing in front of their home fans for
Starting point is 00:10:06 the final time this season. Down 30 after three quarters Thunder head coach Mark Dagnaw waved the white flag on Juneteenth by pulling his starters so Indiana's season seven dub meant we'd get the first game seven in the NBA finals since 2016 for all the LeBron and Cavs fans out there we know how that went down. SGA held the 21 points, his lowest scoring output of the finals, finishing the game with more turnovers than made field goals. So after his disappointing performance, the MVP had this message when asked what game seven means to him and his team.
Starting point is 00:10:37 It's one game for everything you ever dreamed of. If you win it, you get everything. If you lose it, you get nothing. It's that simple. It is that simple. So, stage with Stet in the final game of the season with both franchises vying for their first ever championship. Thunder hadn't lost back to back games this post season.
Starting point is 00:10:58 And Sunday, their big three made sure that streak would continue. Let's take a look at the highlights. If we can please, Palo. So both teams stood on business to start the game with their stars shining. SDA scored six of the Thunder's first ten points, finishing the frame with eight points on three of six shooting, while Holly came out hot hitting three threes in a span of ninety seconds to give the Pacers an early lead in the game. Here was one of them right here. He was doing his thing, looking good.
Starting point is 00:11:24 Looking competitive, but things took a turn for the worst for Indiana and their floor general just moments later with a little under five minutes left in the game quarter Halley went down with a non-contact injury to the same right leg that had been bothering him for the past few games very very tragic unfortunate event he had to be carried to the locker room and would not return to the game with an Achilles injury Halley's injury was deflated to a squad in the mood of the game, but Indiana did their best to keep fighting without their all-NBA guard. So Thunder failed to capitalize initially and led by only three points after the first quarter.
Starting point is 00:11:55 Indiana kept things close in the second quarter with solid play from Siakam and their supporting cast. Siakam scored 10 of his 16 points in the first half. EJ McConnell did his thing as well. Getting right to it. But the Dorcher Chamber had other plans. So Pacers went on a nine-two run late in the second quarter to take control of the game. Andrew Nebhardt knocked down a big three
Starting point is 00:12:22 to cap off the half, giving the Pacers a one point lead heading into the break. Pacers kept the interesting early in the third quarter, but then the Thunder stopped playing with their food. OKC started the game four for twenty from beyond the arc, including two straight misses to start the third quarter, but Lou Dort helped jump start their long range game with a near logo Hail Mary three as the shot clock was expiring. Thunder went five for eleven from distance for the remainder of the quarter, including
Starting point is 00:12:44 a stretch with a big three of SGA Jalen Williams and Chad Holmgren hit back to back to back threes to give OKC their largest lead of the game. TJ McConnell put the team on his back, again scoring 12 outscoring the Pacers 34-20 in the third frame with 18 of those points coming off Indiana turnovers. It was close. Like I said, Thunder got rolling, defense stepped up. Like I mentioned, TJ McConnell, seven turnovers in the game. Thunder 18 points off those turnovers in the third quarter. Extended their lead out, heading into the fourth. So OKC continue their onslaught in the final frame, starting the fourth quarter on a 9-0
Starting point is 00:13:36 run to take a 22-point lead. But Indiana would try to mount another fourth quarter comeback to cut the deficit to 10, with Ben Mather scoring 16 of his 24 points in the final frame. That's as close as the Pacers would get. The Thunder put the league on notice that there's a new champion in town. SGA finished with 29 points, five rebounds, playoff career high 12 assists. He was 11 for 12 from the line. So after committing a playoff high eight turnovers in game six, SGA had just one in this game. Jalen Williams had a 24 and four along with two steals. Chad Holmgren had 18 six boards and five blocks,
Starting point is 00:14:08 most for a game seven, NBA Finals history. Alex Caruso, Kason Wallace each shipped in 10 points and three steals off the bench. OKC improved to seven and oh, this postseason game following a loss. Thunder are the second youngest team in NBA history to win a chip, bring home the first title in OKC franchise history.
Starting point is 00:14:24 So after the game, finals MVP SGA had this to say about becoming a champion. Feels amazing so much weight off my shoulders so much stress relieved like no matter what like you go into every night wanting to win and sometimes it just doesn't go your way. And tonight could have been one of those nights where we found a way. I'm so proud of this group. I wouldn't rather done it with any other group in the world. It feels good to be a champion.
Starting point is 00:15:00 Shout out to SGA, Smart Marketing with the shoes around his shoulder. Outwards Commerce will be releasing SGA's signature shoe of this fall. So Thunder are the four team to win at least 84 games in the season, third to win a chip in that same season, joining the 96 and 97 Bulls. So Gil, during your appearance on first take Friday, you predicted the Thunder would win game seven by 12 points. And Sunday, the Thunder won game seven by 12 points. So how much respect does OKC deserve for winning the first chip in franchise history?
Starting point is 00:15:28 I mean, I mean, you got to give them their respect because they they did win. They fought all season for the last two seasons. They got there didn't look good. I mean, especially being, you know, the titan of the series didn't look good yesterday, but they found a way to pull out the win. I mean, you know, we think about champions, we think about everything going right.
Starting point is 00:15:53 I mean, literally nothing was going right for them. And it never looked comfortable until towards the end where they broke away, but that's what makes you a champion. And that's what you gotta put your hat on know that's you know that's what you got to you know put your hat on. So we were watching the game on playback we thought when Halle went down obviously was over Thunder did their best to stay in the game but Mr. B when you look at this Thunder squad their road to a championship one of three teams with 84 wins in a season yet to go on to win a chip. How much respect does OKC deserve
Starting point is 00:16:22 for winning this ring? They deserve respect. You know, SGA is always talking about being consistent and stand part of the plan. You know, like Gil said, they didn't play well though. You know, they were playing into the pacer strengths. You know, I feel like if Halley didn't go down, it might be a different story, but we can't really harp on that too much. But, you know, they're still young, so, you know, they still have a lot of leeway to keep getting better.
Starting point is 00:16:51 They got picks and young guys like that. So, but shout out to SGA. He is, to me, the greatest player out of OKC franchise ever. So let's shift it over to Saucon. When you look at this Thunder squad, I'm just gonna read a couple stats for you. They were plus 259, that's the best home point differential in a single playoff, plus 131, best turnover differential
Starting point is 00:17:11 in a single playoff, 19 and two best record following a loss in a single season, and plus 1,247 best point differential in a single season. So how much respect does this OKC team deserve for winning the first championship of franchise history? Well, a lot of respect, man. That's when you are building something and you're not deviating from that plan.
Starting point is 00:17:37 Over the last few years, they have been headed this direction. Disappointment last year in the playoffs, of course we all thought they would have moved on. But, nah, to build on that from last year and come out with a chip on your shoulder this year, determined from game one, and continue that for 82 games and throughout a playoff run,
Starting point is 00:17:59 is very impressive for a young team. A lot of them guys, you know, they... And this is just basketball, they're very, very young in this and they could be very fragile at times, but this group is not for whatever reason. They stick together, good, bad, not to lose two games and things like that. That's how you become special, right? When you look at the things that you didn't do correctly in the previous game and be able to correct that in real time. Says a lot about coaching says a lot about their IQ and their willingness to get better in those areas. Vietnam and it was a it was a complete job from coaching and players
Starting point is 00:18:40 game seven. Indiana came out with a certain game plan. They went in at halftime and Oklahoma City adjusted. Stopped running pick and rolls and things like that. And did what they had to do, man. So it was a very, very impressive run to it. Shout out to Oklahoma City Thunder. Well, last but not least, Wage P, Oklahoma City Thunder join you as NBA champions.
Starting point is 00:19:04 Now have the championship experience that you've had for several years. How much respect does OKC deserve for this playoff run and winning the first chip in their franchise history? I'm just mad I forgot to wear my championship shirt and hat too. Fuck, shit award. It's a great feeling. A lot of people never get a chance to experience that. That's what they say.
Starting point is 00:19:28 Man, I think they won the championship when they brung Caruso over. They knew they was one piece away. It's the little things, you know? It's the little things. And I think Caruso brung that. Man, all you can say man now is they accomplished something that a lot of people didn't give them credit for. People were saying it was
Starting point is 00:19:52 too young, didn't believe in the second option, Jalen Williams. Man, nobody really had them winning, you know, and they'll prove a lot of people wrong to be young, to still go out there and get the job done, go through, you know, teams like Denver, you go through, you went through some good teams to get there, you know, and you got it done, man. You got to celebrate, man. That was a great, that bring them back memories, man You want to be on the bus you wanna go? You know the daddy, you know shade daddy. You wanna get on the bus to feel something. So after Vaughn Alexander I'm gonna be in a crowd The crowd runs on the floor to like everybody gets to enjoy it. No, everybody don't yeah These are the nosebleed can't come on a court. She is. Yeah
Starting point is 00:20:43 No, I was playing I was still playing so I my first chance to go to a parade was 2020 can't come on the court. She is. She is. You ain't never been there. Huh? Look. No, I was still playing. So my first chance to go to a parade was 2020. And if the city decided they wasn't gonna allow us to celebrate, so. It was COVID. Yeah. You should have got one too.
Starting point is 00:20:57 You should have got, I mean. I mean, if I'd have known that I wasn't gonna be a part of the, that I would have just did the Black Lives Matter, like, you know, fight with the police thing. I would have been probably. a part of the that I would have just did the Black Lives Matter like you know fight with the police thing I would have been fighting with the police piece no no no no not in LA and in the valley in the valley because they you know they wasn't pepper spraying nobody was good over here no pepper like it was good over here yeah you know me there's nothing gonna happen LA camera when you know they had camera when they had people on Zoom watching the games though in a bubble.
Starting point is 00:21:29 In a bubble. No, no, I had a regular TV. I didn't. Don't go wrong. Yeah, I was watching regular. Well, I'm just saying, man, it's... Yeah, so I didn't get the experience. That feeling is like one of the best, like the greatest feeling for real in the world,
Starting point is 00:21:44 man. That's what I heard. I mean, like the greatest feeling for real in the world, man. That's what I heard. I mean, it looked like it, you know? I think that's, yeah. That shit's amazing, man. Just bringing back chills, like. Bringing back chills. That night after too, like man, you on clouds.
Starting point is 00:21:59 Like you really the man, like they're the man of this summer, like. Heard they shut down Apple. Yeah, they, they. That's what I their shutdown yeah bro you know I had a championship like I dreamed I dreamed of everyone a championship what I was gonna do what did that dream of all soon as we won I was gonna leave just throw my jersey put it in the center court, and leave. Just leave the arena and go. And then they can't find me.
Starting point is 00:22:30 Where were you going? No interviews, no nothing, no parade. Just disappeared. That was my storyline. The nigga just disappeared. Forever. Probably wasn't going to show up that following season. It's just a what happened.
Starting point is 00:22:42 It's just a what happened. That was never came. That was never camera. Like I was like, like first it was going to miss the whole summer. I was like nah, it would be legendary if I missed that whole next season. It's gone. Where is he? It's just like what happened? Where is he gone?
Starting point is 00:22:58 I just ghost. That'll be hard. I was like yeah, that's going to be my thing. That's going to be my thing. That's going to be my thing. They won and lost and won. Ain't no celebrating the champagne just right to the g- All they got left was the jersey.
Starting point is 00:23:12 Left it. That jersey was going to be good. That jersey left the game on top. Left the game on top. That jersey would have been worth so much though. They just thought that would have been cool. That jersey would have been like- Yeah. Actually, that jersey would have been nuts. Actually. Yeah, that's it. Yeah, that would have been cool. That jersey would have been like... Yeah. Actually, it would have been nuts.
Starting point is 00:23:25 Actually. Yeah, that's it. Yeah, that would have been nuts. Cool, nuts. Jersey would have been awesome. But hilarious in itself. Yeah, I can see why. Damn hilarious.
Starting point is 00:23:33 I didn't win once. Respect that, like Dennis Rodman. Like, worn in a motorcycle. Where the fuck is Dennis going? He gotta go on a bender, cause he'll be back, like let him do what he do. and like, worn that mother- Dipping in a motorcycle. Just, where the fuck is Dennis going? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. He gotta go on a bender, Coach. He'll be back, like, let him do what he do. Just ride off into the sunset.
Starting point is 00:23:51 Been awesome, 30. Salute to this Thunder Squad. There was a lot of talk this season, last season, heading into this postseason. Just a young team. Think about Draymond's comments earlier in the season. He didn't really like all the buddy-buddy stuff after the interviews and all that stuff.
Starting point is 00:24:04 But this was a tough team that stuck together Accomplished the ultimate goal six eight or fourteen during the regular season Got the 16 wins they needed to get I mean, you know what they did was Show everybody, you know It can't judge a book by its cover, you know, we always say that but they really it really, you know Did it right from even me saying he had a 0% chance you did say They can't judge a book by its cover. We always say that, but they really did it. Even me saying he had his 0% chance. You did say Laker.
Starting point is 00:24:28 But that's because I'm a Laker fan. The Lakers were still in the playoffs. So 20, 26 champions. They're supposed to play us. Just the comments over and over and over. And they're sitting there doing it. They're sitting there game after game after game, round after round, proving everybody wrong.
Starting point is 00:24:47 So, I mean, when they say, man, this is a weight off our shoulders, like, I'm sure, because we was all, I mean, besides a lot of people in OKC, or everybody in OKC, most of the people's like, ah, you got the Boston Celtics, you got Lakers, Lakers you got going and say that they Denver I mean so it was it was you know they wasn't highly favored you know across what do you got me after the internet does with the internet does in these moments a lot of people not giving
Starting point is 00:25:17 the ring the respect that it deserves saying it was a weak ass ring already paying the Astrig next to it with their road to the playoffs, but they got it done. So their road to the playoffs was they played everybody. Oh, seven game series. They played the Grizzlies. Obviously John went down, John John made comments. He felt like he was healthy.
Starting point is 00:25:37 They would have had a chance. A chance to what? Not lose by what? 30? They had hope. They lost by 50 in the first game. Yeah. Like I mean, not lose by like 28 and 30 when those games of thunder came back and won that one. 30
Starting point is 00:25:49 Lose by like 20 and 30 when those games thunder came back and won that one Yeah, that's me that seems better than you. Oh, that's it beats about 50 in one game You up 30 they come back to be that mean that team is way better. You ain't got a shot Yeah, then took on nuggets who are always a difficult out from teams have struggled with them in the playoffs Give us a new look of the new NBA A young It seemed like they genuinely like each other seem like there's any real dissension Everybody's getting to play right when everybody's getting to play and we winning this we successful. We yeah We successful. We, yeah, it's off.
Starting point is 00:26:24 Fucking pom poms and goddamn glittering rainbows. Let's see, like, that's what they supposed to be doing. Like, they are kicking ass and taking aim, so they letting everybody know about it. So that's... This goes to, like, comments I made that people don't actually understand it because they wasn't there when the narrative,
Starting point is 00:26:42 the name was created or the title of Batman and Robin. Right? And that... When you start putting that out, like... Fans today are young. They don't understand the past, where the idea of Batman and Robin is just two great players playing together and one is a little bit better than the other
Starting point is 00:27:08 and then they just call that the dynamic duel, right? Batman and Robin, right? What ends up happening when media stars like continuing to say, well, is this really a Batman and Robin? Is this like two Batmans? And then once one person feels that he's on that level and people are writing about it
Starting point is 00:27:25 The Eagles is what breaks everything up right just like the Eagles they didn't break it up, but everybody was trying Boston right when Dwayne Wade and LeBron teamed up, right? Whose team is this? Right, when you start doing shit like that, Kyrie and who, like when you start doing that, the ego itself as a Hooper competitor, you automatically start asking,
Starting point is 00:27:56 hey, damn, man, I should get a little bit more of these touches, right? You know, this is like, you know, you're doing, like Shay did something that a lot of champs didn't do. Mm-hmm Right. The main guy gave the Robin His flowers on national TV on the stage during the postgame So I should say in the past they didn't do that Right. So when when I make the statements that no one gives a fuck about the number two rings, it's not my opinion
Starting point is 00:28:21 That's history is shown right are y'all respecting Scottie Pippen for six rings like you do Michael Jordan no Right, you're not you are you respecting clay with his four rings. Did you put him in a top 75? No, they did not right I mean, there's Right. So no, he's not in the top 75 number 75 is dame Leonard Okay, so you don't respect the second option. So what ends up happening is last night you got the number one guy saying no this is this my guy he helped me in the past as a second option you seen motherfucking they're celebrating doing it like think about Kyrie hit the shot boom he's hit
Starting point is 00:29:00 the shot and then everybody LeBron LeBron LeBron LeBron. He's sitting like yeah And I remember that interview with Doris after the game Want to be acknowledged. Yeah, that's all it is you want to be and and I did that to your shade and she did that right before the media can come in Starting next year like who team is jailing is jailing the the best like He think they did that back in the day. No Same thing Kobe was mad about like I'm doing all this in a game Third championship, but Kobe thing was like y'all no matter what y'all just gonna give me my respect if I don't win without Shaq. Yes, and that was the whole thing.
Starting point is 00:29:50 But that was the thing, because he wasn't getting the respect. Yeah, that's the thing, because yes, that's what he was really, he had, like in his mind, I have to win without this dude. You know what I'm saying? There's no question about it. For my legacy, for what I think I am to this game And with I have to win without shot Right because this that was the thing man
Starting point is 00:30:11 Like it's just you guys everybody in the league at the time, right and you will get a unanimous fucking 100% Shaquille O'Neal. It's just one the question And the Tracy rumors being better than him just wasn't a question. And the Tracy rumors being better than him said again, the Tracy was great. I was you want to raise your leg and score and get tripled and better than a quadruple team, but average 32 like it was a thing but that's what I'm saying as a
Starting point is 00:30:34 when when when you're the second option like you're putting in the same amount of work right and but you're not getting the same amount of love. And that's why I said like when you're when you're talking about history and amount of love. And that's why I said, like, when you're talking about history and you're talking about, you know, I've seen someone throw a whole bunch of names and I'm like, oh, yeah, all them names are names. Who talks about them? You think Scottie Pippen on the voters' vote,
Starting point is 00:31:02 the people who used to write for him and love on him, you think he feels good sitting at 32 when 31 has no rings? That's Allen Iverson. Number 29 has zero ring. That's Chris Paul. You think he feels good, like he's respected. Sitting at 32, there's two people right next to him, no rings.
Starting point is 00:31:23 And y'all saying rings matter? Come on, man. Hey, stop. You think that's how Jaylen Brown feels? Rings does matter. So, okay, so if rings matter, how can rings matter? Right. Even though he still got it, it's still kind of like...
Starting point is 00:31:38 He's gonna find it still feel disrespect. Right, yeah. Like I said, if rings matter, then... And he got the hard way. Yeah, that's doesn't say the rings matter then and he got and he got it He got the heart. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. He got the heart. You can you say can you tell us why? Scottie Pippen is 32 with six rings Seven all-mva seven all-stars ten defensive player and Allen Iverson's at 31 Who put him 32 the media the square the media vote the square people who vote for it. So
Starting point is 00:32:06 So if rings matter cuz they remember it's big who writes the rings matter when you put Kobe at Not in the top ten. I don't respect that but again that don't matter to me. So you can't do that You can't because I know If you believe so what they say the problem is you do you what I'm saying is the people who are voting to go out here We need we need something to know what I'm saying is that the people are going off of Kobe's not enough Okay But if the people are voting the people are voting they get paid to do this job And they got looking at it and you you automatically try to take away the conversation that and I answer the question by saying
Starting point is 00:32:43 I don't respect it. That doesn't get to that doesn't get a good answer. I'm asking you they got to answer How do you think a man with six rings sitting at 32? How do you think he feels if 31 and 29 has no rings? So when we say when I say rings don't matter I have examples So when we say, when I say rings don't matter, I have examples. Because I can tell you this, what I did, what I did was this, how I came to the conclusion. I said, you know what, this don't make sense. There's something we're missing here. You know what, I'm taking away all rings.
Starting point is 00:33:16 Fuck them. All rings are gone. No one has rings. Let me just go to these people's acculades. They see who they are. So I wrote down everybody's acculades. I'm not, yeah, I'm not doing that. Wait, dude. people's accolades. They see who they are. So I wrote down everybody's accolades. Wait, dude. Everybody's accolades.
Starting point is 00:33:28 So I wrote down everybody's accolades, right? To see if this makes sense. If you go in this order, MVP first, give it the most points. Second, scoring titles. Third, first team all NBA, because that's top five. Defensive player of the year, second team all NBA. If you go like that across the board, you will get Jordan, LeBron, Kareem.
Starting point is 00:33:58 That's how it would look. So when you say, why isn't Kobe in the top 10? He only has one MVP. Everybody in front of him has multiple MVPs. You sound like a man that ain't one. No, I'm talking- You sound like a man that ain't one of the rings. I'm not talking from my-
Starting point is 00:34:12 That's what I'm saying. I'm not talking from- You can't. I'm not- Hold on. I'm not talking from my opinion, dog. I'm saying this is what the research that I did said. I said I looked at the top 75 list. They have it in order from the writers. I said, all right,, I looked at the top 75 list, they have it in order from the writers. I said, all right, Clay not being in the top 75
Starting point is 00:34:28 and he got four ring or three rings at the time, five All-Stars, two All-NBAs, how was 75, no rings, six All-NBAs and six All-Stars? Doesn't make sense, these rings should be able to put them in front of Dane. So I said, okay, remove it all, and then I went took a month went through the research the research says they respect MVPs first scoring title second all NBA first team first defensive player of the year then second team all NBA because second team
Starting point is 00:35:00 all NBA is top 10 in the NBA and then when you go by that and put the points I don't get five you go ten nine eight on the points you will come up with the top 75 the only thing that I found wrong was how with the metrics that was there for everybody else how is Oscar Robinson in front of Kobe I remember if one is if the number one stat is NVPs, think about everybody else in the top ten, they got more than one. Scoring titles is next. That's why Jordan can never be passed, because he got damn near eight more than everybody else.
Starting point is 00:35:37 Right? So if you put what, 200 points in on one, 100, however you want to do it, that scoring title, ten, there's nothing you want to do it. That scoring title, 10, there's nothing you can do about that. He can never be caught because of the metrics of that. Like this is not the eye test, they're going off of a metrics. So when you say Scottie Pippen at 32,
Starting point is 00:35:56 if you take away his rings, did he have a better career than Allen Iverson? No? Allen Iverson got four scoring titles, MVP. No. No, I get it. So, it's saying that, yeah, they, this is just a cherry on top. Way better career than that. Let's get back to talking about- You said he does?
Starting point is 00:36:13 Yes. If you take away the rings, he has a better- No. Okay. You can't take that. Come on, why you gonna take away something that- I'm asking, but- Okay, see, you see you have an opinion. This is crazy, bro.
Starting point is 00:36:24 Let's just take away all rings. Okay. So, hey, hey. So you see you have an opinion. This is crazy, bro. This is taking away all rings. So, no, ask the question. So, if Scottie Pippen's at 32, how is Allen Iverson at 31? So, who opinion do you respect when it comes to somebody's top five? I can't, because every time we have a who's the top three, we always mention. Everybody, outside of his opinion. These players, that's our eyes. But you can't have them at 18. That shit don't make...
Starting point is 00:36:46 Alright, come on. That's the problem. So this is what we need, right? So this is what we need. So just hear me out. So if the players that played in the NBA did a list, Kobe would not be at 10. But that's the thing, they're not asking the players. Well, some of the players are contributing some players some but not the masses it's not players right it's
Starting point is 00:37:11 the square media and it's dudes that's that don't like that don't yeah it's personal that's what I'm saying yes if that yet, but I'm just saying for Nick I just told you this for the metrics NVP's one so if you want to put a hundred points on NVP's look what I'm saying is put a hundred points on NVP's What I'm saying is put a hundred points on a gallon man put a hundred points on the MVPs They go put 90 points on scoring titles put 80 points on first team Put 70 points on defensive player of the year put 60 points on second Go bird and you start and you start counting go bird is in front of Kobe now Swag I gotta stop y'all we got we got a lot of we got a lot of NBA final
Starting point is 00:37:57 No what I'm saying is how? Go bird is top 10 How? Does he have MVP's does he have scoring titles? Like how does that? He's got everything Def, he got everything. Defensive player is 7, defensive player is 4, is 60 points. So he got 4, 60 points.
Starting point is 00:38:12 What does that got to do with scoring titles? Scoring titles is, scoring titles is 90 points each. That's 108. What are you talking about? I feel like we're going to talk about this all summer long. But what I'm saying is we shouldn't. Just do the math yourself. And then you can stop asking. It's all acculade.
Starting point is 00:38:29 It's individual acculades, and it should be told before. They should have told us before. We don't play for the championship. No, we play for it. They tell us. This wasn't shit. This is why it's hard to have an educational conversation, because you're using your emotions.
Starting point is 00:38:42 No, you said rings don't count. So what are we playing for? I'm Oh, you said rings don't count. So what I'm saying the data says rings Counts 93 Then answer the question what up what I'm saying don't count rings count rings count then answer this 1993 1993 a man by the name of Michael Jordan has three rings He was ranked The best player ever he jumped Magic Johnson Who was number one before that in front of so magic has five rings?
Starting point is 00:39:41 Kareem has six rings at this time Bill won't I mean Bill Russell has 11 rings. Can you tell us what it educated answer? Educated answer. How did Michael Jordan get crowned? The best player ever with only three rings. Yeah. I don't know. I'm gonna wait. I'm just asking the question, man.
Starting point is 00:40:06 I'm gonna wait. If rings matter, how did the guy who has the least Rings don't matter. become number one? Rings don't matter. I'm just asking the question. This has nothing to do with your personal. I don't give a fuck about the person.
Starting point is 00:40:18 I'm just asking. I'm looking at the data and saying, hey, he has three rings. So you just play. How is he in front of a guy who has five, six, and 11? I can't tell you. You just play. Yeah, I just want to know what list we going to go on.
Starting point is 00:40:29 I know you can't. I know you can't tell. Please. We'll talk list. We will talk list. I get the feeling. Y'all know I'm clear. We're not going to see a future.
Starting point is 00:40:37 We will talk this well into the summer, into next season. But we shouldn't. We shouldn't. But let's talk right now about the Oklahoma City Thunder, and more specifically, their finals, MVP, SGA. But But before we do we'd like to thank Cash App for sponsoring today's podcast. MJ who did it four times in his career in Shaq. SGA also became just the second player in league history with 650 plus points, 100 plus rebounds, 150 plus assists in a single postseason joining LeBron who did it in 2018. So what statement did SGA make this season? That he's better than Kobe and everybody. That he's better than Kobe and everybody.
Starting point is 00:42:15 Yeah, he did everything. Rings don't matter. He just did everything. I mean the statement that he made to me is... Thank you, Mr. B. Yeah, thank you, B. I just felt in his feelings. Can you go? The statement that he made to me is that, you know, he didn't get MVP last year, so I think Kenyan said it, like he came back with a chip on his shoulder, leading a young team, the youngest team in the NBA, being able to sweep through the whole league.
Starting point is 00:42:41 You know, to me, that's just showing that, you know, you're the best player in the NBA. OKC's never won a championship to be the first one to bring a championship to the franchise. Just says to me that you're the best player ever out of OKC as a player. So yeah, I just got a lot of high praise from him. He did what he's supposed to do. He's averaging 30 the last three years. Why is he the best player out of OKC? Well to me, because there's nobody that's had a year, I mean, with the Western Conference MVP, he's the first player to ever do something like that.
Starting point is 00:43:15 So, for me, he's just the best player. And win it all, too. During the whole MVP discussion, obviously, SGA Jokic, top two finalist, we talked about the difference between being the most valuable player in the league and the best player in the league. Has what SGA has done this season, this postseason, solidified him as the best player in the league right now?
Starting point is 00:43:35 Who are you asking me? In my opinion, no. Okay. But this year he was, but not obviously. My personal opinion, no. You still rocking with Jokic? Or that freaking that freak that playing that damn Milwaukee. Greco-Nigerian. Yes.
Starting point is 00:43:59 Shut up. Donovan Mitchell has not done enough to be in this conversation. Shut up. Donovan Mitchell has not done enough to be in this competition. Shut up. Who? See, he might have a chance next year. No, it's just, all right, like the question I proposed to Kenji Perkins last week, right, if you take away the team wins, right, and you put their numbers up on the board, like Shay
Starting point is 00:44:20 would be third. So it's, just tough. Deal with this, not taking anything off his plate. He had an excellent year, man. Like I said, third year in the world, scoring 30. MVP regular season, MVP, swept everything. Is looking like he is becoming the face of the NBA.
Starting point is 00:44:47 It's just, it's lining up. He plays the part, speaks well, stays out of trouble, family man, so everything is lining up for that. So this brings me over to you Gil. So Gil, when I asked what statement the SGA make with this season, you did this, I believe, the symbol for saying he is the face of the NBA. Yeah, I mean, you know, when you look around the league
Starting point is 00:45:10 and you're talking about, you know, LeBron's leaving, Curry's leaving, Katie's leaving soon, they're searching for, you know, who is gonna be the face of the league, who's gonna be the face that they are selling to corporate America, right? And, you know, it comes with style, looks, family. Can we trust you with our sponsors?
Starting point is 00:45:39 Like, not to get in trouble outside, right? He checks all those boxes. So when you're going into this year and we're talking about the MVP race, if they're looking for a new face, they're gonna tell us, right? They're gonna tell us who they're gonna push. Boom, MVP.
Starting point is 00:45:55 All right, okay. And then nobody gonna argue with you. Western Conference MVP, okay. Now this is gonna be the face of the NBA. Boring title. If this is about to be the face of the NBA, if this is about to be the face of the NBA, they're going to win the championship. Right?
Starting point is 00:46:08 When we talked about Tatum as the face, what we was missing was the NBA backing. Right? He lost the Eastern Conference MVP. He lost the finals MVP. Like, man, that's going to be the face of the NBA, and you just keep giving trophies away to somebody else. And then, during the biggest time of America, you're benching him.
Starting point is 00:46:39 You're pointing that he's like, you're defacing this man in the public in the America And it's supposed to be the face of the NBA They did deface But that's what I'm saying like you don't get in trouble and all that but you this is not how you supposed to be promoting the face a DMP for and that's what I'm saying So it all the signs said like like we're talking about yeah, he's a face But it's like the NBA is like, yeah, nah, not right now
Starting point is 00:47:08 So yeah, so it looks like like everything was tracking and he's tracking right so moving into next season You know They got something to push and say all this is the family. Yeah Like even with how you look at when you look at Halle himself, he's pushable. He's married. He don't get in trouble. He knows how to turn on his white voice. He knows how to be funny.
Starting point is 00:47:34 He can speak. You know what I mean? So he was the guy that they were looking at like, you know what, that dude in Indiana, we can go, let's go ahead and put him in the mix. Let's see what happens with him. They said his daddy could come back to the game. You know got him back And right now it's like it's like a shape for the all the images is like shade and then you have like Wimby He's the queen. Hey, yeah Like you got the wind he's still there like American he winning, yeah. Right now you looking at what?
Starting point is 00:48:06 Cooper Flag coming in? And he's the ultimate team player right now. It seems like, look, SGA checks all the boxes, gets buckets, obviously let his team do a championship, but there's such a narrative out there with people being mad at his ability to draw fouls, get to the fouls. And who does that? Who did that narrative?
Starting point is 00:48:24 The ball, the game. Who cares, man? The squib. That's what I'm saying. But that's the problem with. I enjoy it. But that's the problem. That's the problem with where media has dictated to all of us false narratives. Right? When we did start this game it was we want to do everything to try to win a champ that's what we were sold and You're you're telling the American public what we are when we are depending on if you like us or not And that's became the problem Right there selling something to like so when you say hey, do you like SGA if you say no? The only thing you're saying no is to what? Foul. He's foul bait or he's a real. That's
Starting point is 00:49:11 you that's a narrative that they threw in there that's not a real thing. How do you call somebody a foul bait or a foul merchant in these other negative terms when the refs call the fouls? Because that's- His ability to draw fouls is a negative? Because that's what they wanted to put up there. Even though if you rank them amongst his peers, the Michael Jordan's, the Kobe's and all that, he's the lowest one, he's the last one. He just got a high IQ.
Starting point is 00:49:37 You can't find enough wrong with him so you nitpick. You take all his free throws away, you still lead the league in scoring. If you take everybody else's free throws away too, he still- But that's- But it doesn't matter. Push that narrative, this is the the league in scoring. If you take everybody else's free throws away too, he still... He leaves it, but that's... But it doesn't matter. Push that narrative, this is the narrative you want to push.
Starting point is 00:49:47 They hated what James did. So when you say you hate them, you're hating them because this is the narrative that was pushed on them. And that's the bad part. We're going off of somebody else's pen. You think they're going to change the...make some calls? Like when James was doing it, they changed the whole call that he can't get that three
Starting point is 00:50:09 part. No, they did that, but SGA still has the, found the ability to draw up. They changed it with KD too, when KD used to do that. You got enough teams complaining. Yeah, the real truth. You got enough teams complaining about it. Then you would.
Starting point is 00:50:22 Then that's one, but this, what you complain about. Yeah, he found a put-off. Tell your guys go watch the way Neymar guarded him. Best he could. Keep your fucking hands off of him. And when he did, he got called for a foul. When he got in there and hooked, you got called for a fucking foul.
Starting point is 00:50:35 Like, keep your hands off of him. Like, it's simple, man. Like, learn how to play defense without putting your hands on him, and good luck. It's an art, man. The best scores in history, pat it. Michael Jordan knew how to play defense without putting your hands on him and it's an art man the best Scores in history's padded Michael Jordan knew how to do it Kobe knew how to do it Allen Iverson, I mean if you go through history man
Starting point is 00:50:54 Scores are scores. They are figuring out how to get fouled and scored do that make not a face So when people don't have nothing to complain about Like complaining about somebody like Jason Tatum, it's something, it's something. They say it's something. You always have something in the media. But what is there to hate on Jason Tatum even when you don't understand? Nothing, nothing.
Starting point is 00:51:15 That's what confuses me. Other than playing for yourself. Only thing I was trying to say, they didn't want a championship. No, no, no, what I'm saying is, like, you got to remember, you have to be liked. No, no, but you're only liked because of got to remember you had to be liked No, no, but you only like because of what what people like if you if you told people if you didn't read no newspaper And you just watch the game for yourself Your opinion of what you're watching is very different from from me saying it
Starting point is 00:51:40 you know if I just called if I called if we you know, just like What is his name down in Towns. Watch the games on mute. Yeah, if we, if we, Towns right, and we say, what do they call them? Suspect, what is the name? Zesty. Zesty is a term that they call, I would never hear.
Starting point is 00:51:57 Zesty, like if you're watching a game by yourself, you're not thinking about no Zesty, nothing. But if I keep pointing it out, and then every time you watch it, you start looking for shit, then it becomes the narrative. Right, oh, Zesty Nunn, so now, every time he pass the ball and do something, you start looking for it. Have there ever been a nun, athletic face, stuff, other leagues, somebody that-
Starting point is 00:52:15 Allen Iverson, Curry, Magic. Magic, Curry. Wait, Allen Iverson wasn't athletic? Wait, you said not. I mean- Talking about dunking on people, like, there's something exciting in it, like. Hitting minis isn't exciting. It's a different league. Yeah, Curry. Step backs aren't athletic. You said no. Dunking on people like, it's something exciting. Hitting middies isn't exciting. It's a different league.
Starting point is 00:52:28 Step backs aren't exciting. It's a different league than we're playing in. He don't do this stuff. Steps, two, threes. I mean Magic. It's a different league, man. Magic. I think SGA just got everything. That's what I'm saying, but is it something that brings the crowd, oh my God, what is that?
Starting point is 00:52:44 Not yet. Winning, right? Winning or not. It ain't gonna be nothing. Not yet. But is it something that brings the crowd? Oh my god. What is that? No yet? No, no We're in it right when does we know he's more single be nothing. Yeah, I just think he's more safe He's missing like like he that's what I'm just right now. He's gonna be ass over everybody. He's safe One thing he can do that can put him in a different category Showmanship he's doing that, absolutely. I know, he's not really. Just average 30. No, just average 30
Starting point is 00:53:12 throughout your fucking from two years ago until you walk away. It's boring. You gotta get an 80 ball or something. No, no, no. What you're saying is, there's a thing that a superstar has, right? That's what I'm saying.
Starting point is 00:53:31 And he doesn't have it yet. He's across the middle. He don't have those moments where, like, if we watch, think about it, we just finished this series. Can you name two plays that stands out? She's like, oh shit, I'm gonna remember this for the rest of my life. There's none. Not on his side, but obviously the
Starting point is 00:53:50 Halle. The Siakam dunk. The Siakam, regular ass dunk. Like that's a, because the game is so bland, we are saying that dunk is like, woo! It's like, get we working on what we got. But that's what I'm saying. So when you, when we think about your career,
Starting point is 00:54:08 when I say, oh, Shay, you supposed to come up, there should be a crossover, a step back, a windmill. There has to be something in your resume. Does it? No, it doesn't. Yes, yes, yes, you got it. No, that's why he thinks. I don't think so.
Starting point is 00:54:24 That's why he thinks, beautiful. Imagine, you got all kind of pastors, you got the sky, yeah, yes, you got it. I can have all the things You got all kind of passes you got the sky Jordan's Jordan But I think hey Jordan you can think about all the Jordan's if you can think about all the Kobe move So Michael is multiple championship I mean, but there's when you but when you think about something when you think about them when we think about Kobe We're thinking about like his rings. You've got plays that you can remember him throwing a lob. What did Leigh Bird do? Father a lot of children. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:54:51 I'm asking, what did he do? I'm just asking. See Gil? But they don't push the narrative. That shit was the Nellis motherfucker. That's why they push magic more. But I'm just saying, but he's still one father, motherfucker. That's why they push magic more.
Starting point is 00:55:02 Because he was smiling, but he's still one father. But he used to tell people where he was shooting But they sold us that They sold us that But that's what I'm saying, but they sold us that But that's why magic was always Tender in front But magic was pushed in front of Kareem
Starting point is 00:55:18 Cause Kareem looked vanilla Yeah, he's smiling So that's what I'm saying, with SEA he has to do Something that makes you, like, I call it moments, right? Like when you dunk, right? Still a household name though. Like when you dunk and slam the backboard, this stuff, like, he has to have those moments so when people think of his name, they go to a visual.
Starting point is 00:55:37 But he's still a household name. I know. They're birds, still a household name. Tim Duncan's still a household name. I'm talking about that next level. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That curvy. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Bird still a household name. Tim Duncan still a household name. I'm talking about that next level. That curve when he when he start doing this and start doing it like it's the moments when you think of the name that he got out. But that's personality though. He goes into next year and he has like the little antics where he cross somebody over due to points and stuff like that so when people think about it you're like ah. I think it's gonna come it you're like ah I think it's gonna look different. I think it's gonna look different. I think it's gonna be consistent
Starting point is 00:56:11 averaging 30 it's gonna be like them winning a couple more championships and them breaking like the 73 wins. I think it's gonna be shit like that. Duncan has a goal. Because he's still gonna be a household name. He's a coach. When we think about like alright, alright, Mike Gown. Sean Kim. What do you think about first? Mike Gown. My favorite basketball player.
Starting point is 00:56:31 Yeah, see? No, no. But what do you, like, when I say his name, you got something. Like, oh shit, he dumped on here. But he was never the face of the NBA. I know, but what I'm saying is you- So that's cheating, though. No, I'm saying when you say his name, you think about something.
Starting point is 00:56:41 But you're talking about that guy. Like, we're talking about them dudes. No, that something. I'm saying what you're talking about that guy like do we talk about them dudes? No that's what I'm saying but he don't have those. You know what for him to be that dude. He got to have a moment that we can remember when we say his name. That man. Huh? That man.
Starting point is 00:56:57 We got a bunch of them. Yeah we got a bunch of them. Let's talk about this. I'm just saying that going into next year that should be in the back of his mind. He said him and Tatum don't have the moment., what I'm saying is capitalize on the business side. I'm saying the business side of it. I remember that. I'm saying the business side of it.
Starting point is 00:57:11 When you're playing this game and there's things that happen, make a point to expose. You make a motherfucker fall and you hit a shot. Do something with it to make people think about it. He's not. But that's so you're also But if I'm sure I'm like well and keep dunking on niggas and I'm gonna keep snacking these MVP's and these motherfucking championships You all can keep having that if I'm shaking like I don't care I get it like this, but I'm worried about that side of it. I hear you. Yes, those guys have that but that's not his personality I know.
Starting point is 00:57:45 I'm talking about the business side. I'm pretty sure we all thought about winning championships and all that, and then when that list come out, you'd be sitting there like, for real. Just like when you average 20 and he averaged 20. He signed 200 million and you sitting there with 85, and you're like, yo, we signed the same thing. He's bringing something different. I did, God. I mean, yeah, I get both sides. I mean, but like you said,
Starting point is 00:58:06 this ain't probably his personality. I mean, everyone has been successful going the way he's going too. And the thing is, we don't know what they're doing in Canada for him. Like, he's a different animal I'm just show you right now man listen candidate y'all back Y'all back because y'all listen I'm gonna tell you for like the last eight nine months boy Y'all can come outside y'all got somebody who's sweating every day Yeah, you can go back there you can bump Drake again out loud Be a piece of
Starting point is 00:59:00 Spot huh? It's a kawaii spot and Canada. Oh, no He's from there he's from Toronto yeah, yeah, he's from yeah. I'm not Larry. I'm not Larry. Kyle Larry. He's from there. He's from Toronto. Yeah, yeah, yeah. He's from there. They get to hold something up. Yeah, you right.
Starting point is 00:59:12 They get to hold something up. They get to promote. Yeah, they gonna. And the MVP and everything. And the MVP and the scoring top. Hold on. Drake will bring him out of OVO Fest. Drake can come outside.
Starting point is 00:59:20 You got somebody. You got somebody with you. Let's talk about this. This Thunder squad a little bit. Thunder are the second youngest team in the Shotcock era to win a chip. Showed their youth during the post-game celebration. Let's take a look. They won this one.
Starting point is 00:59:34 So that game's like two or three more years of experience and confidence. Open it up, beat bottles. He's not even close. So you think about him in the next two or three years. Team struggled a little bit to pop these bottles. That's bad. And you're laying by your guy. That's good.
Starting point is 00:59:49 That's good. How you do that? Very struggle mode. Very struggle mode. But once again, Alex Caruso. Alex Caruso brought his championship experience to the squad. They had to ask AC for help. The Carus' God.
Starting point is 00:59:57 Look at him. He's not hitting on the table. Nah, bruh. Just not hitting to the squad. They had to ask AC for help. The Caruso got. Look at him, he's not hitting on the table. Nah, bruh. Just no clue whatsoever.
Starting point is 01:00:11 A lot of them don't drink. Jalen Williams admitted it was his first time. Look at him, look at him. He's making a sip of alcohol. But Caruso came through in the clutch yet again. Showed the team the proper way to pop a bottle and spray it in the locker room. That's funny.
Starting point is 01:00:22 Bring his championship experience, very crucial and vital. Coruso! He made me proud this way, y'all. That's funny. I know, that just speaks so much value. I mean, we went to the club to find out how to bust them bottles. The fact that they don't even know how to open it.
Starting point is 01:00:42 They went home and practiced like, shit, we might win this bitch. Shit, let me go ahead and block this. this bitch. Shit, let me go hit black. Let me go on stage and shit. They locked in. Yeah. Martinelli's, do it with the Martinelli's. Like that is like, damn. Babies.
Starting point is 01:00:57 That means y'all ain't alcoholics. Y'all ain't going to the club. Y'all ain't bottle popping wars. Y'all with y'all drinking Corona's and water? It's OKC. I know but Not one Okay, see it's not The club is a your body
Starting point is 01:01:23 One leg at that stroke That is okay, so we asked the chat You have one leg Okay, so we asked the chat We asked the chat will SJ be the next face of the league it was a 50-50 split But let's get this thing moving on the Real 50 split, but let's keep this thing moving on the thunder. No, no, no. Because that's real. That's real, bro. That's real. Sometimes when you sit there and think, and you just be like, I'm like, damn. How bad is the strip club, man?
Starting point is 01:01:52 Nothing wrong with being one leg with a nut. Disabled. No, there's nothing wrong with it. Just at the strip club, you just be sitting there like. It's probably the highest paid in there, bro, for the two. Because we feel sorry. What we feel sorry for, man. You know, there's some wicked people out here in cuz we feel sorry. Well, we go sorry No, there's no this and this is wicked people. I had in the world. Oh, yeah
Starting point is 01:02:08 There's some little girl. Hey, it's a weird No, it was a little person walked in the mall and such person in Denver the one in Denver Yeah, which one person there's a little person Listen I told her sure. I said this I ain't stable enough. Yeah Hey, I am too mentally unstable, I said listen, I ain't stable enough. Yeah. Hey, I am too mentally unstable for you to come over and start dancing because this would be your last day because I might hurt your feelings. Yeah, I heard your feelings.
Starting point is 01:02:32 You got to watch out. Some of them just, we ain't. Can't we appreciate your honesty? Get your little ass on by the head. Get your little ass. Get your little ass. Hey little Eddie, baby. Get off me, little Eddie, baby.
Starting point is 01:02:40 But anyway, let's talk about the Thunder saddle. On 24 years old, Jalen Williams stepped up in the final show while he's the best section Get your little ass. Hey little itty bitty. Get off me little itty bitty. But anyway let's talk about the Thunder saddle. On 24 years old Jalen Williams stepped up in the final show why he's the best second option in the league. He averaged 24.5 rebounds for assist for the series. So after admittedly taking the first drink of his life Williams joined Scott Van Pelt on the Sports Center set and showed he's wise beyond his years when SVP asked what's one thing he'll take satisfaction in from this championship run, J-Dub offered this response.
Starting point is 01:03:10 Nothing's more precious than time, I think. And I think when... That's so true, man. Just giving the team my time and them giving me theirs. We've had team dinners after we've lost. We've had playing don't take off till 4 a.m. and we sit on the runway. Like all those like cool times
Starting point is 01:03:30 where we were present with each other and like had fun, played bourree on the plane, uno, listening to music together. Like all that stuff, I'm happy that I did that with this team. I think that's why we were so good. Like all the off the court stuff is stuff that I remember. And when it comes to like time, it's like, yeah,
Starting point is 01:03:44 just spending extra hours with each other. like me and Chet used to like go in the hotel like watch film on like our pick and rolls when he was coming back like that's the stuff I remember from this run more than like I can't even remember what happened our last series so it's like those are always moments that stick out to me. So playing Bure and Uno on a team playing both two phenomenal card games for those so heading heading into the playoffs. Tell they kids. Who know? Are they gambling or are they betting
Starting point is 01:04:09 and who knows what I want to know? Damn. That's what I want to know. So heading into the playoffs, Thunder's inexperience was heavily discussed with many thinking it would be the reason they wouldn't win a title, but OKC proved their critics wrong.
Starting point is 01:04:20 So Thunder have their top nine scores all under contract next season. 13 first round picks over the next seven drafts Oh my god, but this is the seventh straight season a different team has won the chip the longest streak in NBA history When you look at this Thunder squad, are we witnessing the birth of a dynasty? Hmm Amateurs that dynasty is what two wins. I'm re three right three. We resign this is right Yeah, three in a window five six seasons would dynasty is what two wins? Three. Three. Right? Three win? Three is dynasties right? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:04:45 Three in a window five six seasons. In what? Five to six seasons. Trending up. They're trending up but history is not on their side. Not at all but trending up. You know the only dynasty from a small market team was San Antonio. Right? So. I was on playback two kill. I was on play back to last night. Yeah, but the prop, but if they're using, if you're using your first round, that means you're going backwards just a little bit. But you can trade them shit.
Starting point is 01:05:12 You didn't see that. The problem with the dynasty for a small market team is you're handicapped by pay, right? And when we're talking about the reason that a lot of not, I mean mean not a lot of small market teams has been dynasties is because if you're winning people got to get paid. Now when you think about spurs they wasn't paid and that's what people don't realize. And that's what people don't realize. Uh, Janobli wasn't paid like a Hall of Famer. Tony Parker wasn't paid like a Hall of Famer.
Starting point is 01:05:51 Right? When he got paid, he had two championships. He signed for 60 million. After my second year, I signed for 60 million. So, you know what I mean? He got two right. No, no, no, no, no. But what I'm saying is, if he's signing, if I'm... No, what I'm saying is, if I sign for 63 million after my second year, and his contract is
Starting point is 01:06:12 up and he got two rings, if he signs for the hundred that he's supposed to, you know what I mean? They can't build the way. So you gotta get some bad contracts from these players. So all three of these players is gonna be up with the next year or the following year. So you're gonna have to convince them to take some real bad pay cuts for you to keep it as a dynasty. But can't you like...
Starting point is 01:06:35 Like, the Spurs wasn't overpaid, they was underpaid. Can't you like do something with the contracts, get it all up front in the back end? Well, the good thing about them, man, they can keep their core. Yeah, I about to say. And, but they got, because they got draft capital, man. Like, so they can, that's the thing, like, a lot of them do still in their rookie deals now, so they got them for the next two years.
Starting point is 01:06:56 They let them and just keep. But that's what I'm saying, the creative dynasty, you got them for two years where they are, but that money kick in, so if you signed him for 360 something, you're going to put two something, another one for two something. All you need is one more, man. As long as you keep your your staff, your clay, your Dreymon.
Starting point is 01:07:13 Man, but they got to be paid. They want to come out. One's got to get screwed. Well, somebody going to take a team if they winning, right? I truly believe this. If them guys are winning and how they are, as them, Oklahoma City, they will do team friendly stuff in order to keep this together and to keep winning.
Starting point is 01:07:34 Just my opinion. I could be 100% wrong. It feels that way. It feels that way right now because how they are right now. We will find. It could change. We will find out, but I think if they come back next year, right and are dominant again the way they were this year and running
Starting point is 01:07:51 back. I 100% believe that when it's time to do is not at the time is the summer. I'm going to say yes. The time is this summer. I think they're all three of them. I still think all three of them can get paid to some of the night all three.
Starting point is 01:08:04 No, they won't go so as you can get that supermax. All three. But they won't though. So SGA can get that Supermax bread. But they gotta get better because I feel like even when they get this in the summer. No, what I'm saying is whatever happens for the future is gonna happen this summer. They understand the landscape. We're talking about the last team. Other teams gotta get better. No, it's he's taking care of the rest of the shape.
Starting point is 01:08:21 But he will, like, he's, so this is the thing, the key word in that, he's eligible for the Supermax, right, we all know he's eligible for the Supermax. In order to keep winning, which I think he wants to do. He understand that he needs them dudes. Yeah, for sure. So going into that negotiation, that is a thought of his as well.
Starting point is 01:08:44 So whatever the number is, and they can pitch it to him or not pitch it to him, he's aware of that. And going into it, be like, okay, this is mine. So it's a thing, right? What do we need in order to make this last, like what do we need, right? And it's this number. And if he's comfortable with it, great.
Starting point is 01:09:03 And if he's not, then the negotiation starts and you go from there But just what I see from inducement they want to win and they like one another So everybody This is a start of a dynasty I think I know they're beatable though. No, no, I don't care about the beatable part Dynasty starts with contracts first. Nah, but. They won 73 games and won the championship. When you talk about the Bulls dynasty, you remember the Bulls dynasty, how were they getting paid?
Starting point is 01:09:35 They wasn't. But you're talking about guys on the younger side, right? So you got Jalen Williams, champion on rookie deal. So their max are going to be lower compared to the guys who are stars that were more veteran. What I'm saying, what is the rookie max? Because Jalen is. 200. So their max are gonna be lower compared to the guys who are stars that would more veteran be standing. What I'm saying, what is the rookie max? 200.
Starting point is 01:09:48 Yeah, because Jalen is third team all NBA, Chet is. So you got one guy who's 200, you got one guy who's 300, right? Between two guys, they're sitting at half a billion dollars. They'll knock that off in order to keep it where they need to be. Shea won't take that. But just as players, if the head sneak, if the head guy who's getting three-something, and he's talking about, yeah, we got to take pay cuts, right? We all right, cool. He has to show us first. Yeah, he will. Right? So if he's at 360 and he's signed for 345 We sitting here like yeah
Starting point is 01:10:29 And he's doing on the bus if he's if he take if he does a Brunson 260 if he does a Brunson We still are sitting here like yeah Yeah, like you got a you he has to show example first that he he wants us for us to say I was good Yeah, what a place you don't make you to start you don't make your money You good You you you got your own shoe I'm wearing James Harden's. Yes, absolutely. And more to come. I'm not even P.E.'s, bro.
Starting point is 01:11:08 They're costumes, though. What I'm saying is I got another n***a's shoes on. Right, so you really got to be the catalyst to it. And I think they understand that. Like, I really, just watching them dudes, man, and just right after, for him to include James. I like how you include him in that part of it. Like, you got to start digging deep into what they their dynamic is within that locker room.
Starting point is 01:11:34 Yep. So we asked the chat is OKC on their way to becoming a dynasty. Fifty four percent of the chat says no. Chat, you're accurate because we know who's winning 2026. So that now may be 20 2027 2028 down the road Good luck and how it's set up. It's only there's the fuck up good It's only yours the fuck up right now you have it it you now you got to play real chess Like I listen, I don't know what buildings and land you have out there and you can start doing what Mickey was doing to Hey, I got some boats. I got some apartments. I got condos
Starting point is 01:12:22 Right when we talk about haslem, there's a reason the haslem was on the team for god damn 35 years It was paying them back for the sacrifice. He did before Yeah, so you might have the restaurants But you have to be a man you have to be a man in your word Don't you tell the motherfucker to take a hundred million dollar pay cut? I'm gonna pay you on the back end. You better pay him on the back end Don't tell him to take a pay cut of a hundred million so you can keep his team and then when it's done. You said that motherfucking two years. Yeah and you ain't doing nothing for him. That was old ownership. It ain't got nothing to do with me. One thing Miami did, Mickey took care of the people who sacrificed for the championships
Starting point is 01:13:00 when LeBron and them came in. So you got to, if these players do their part you better do yours. Alright well let's shift over to the Pacers side came in. So you gotta, if these players do their part, you better do yours. Alright, well let's shift over to the Pacers side of things. So Pacers title hopes were deflated early in this game with the loss of Halle. In the future their franchise is now in question with their all-NBA guard likely to miss extended time with his Achilles injury.
Starting point is 01:13:18 So we got some video of Halle after the game. And then on the other side. Sitting in crutches, hope, you know, after the game, emotional Halle stood on crutches near the locker room, waited for a squad after the game. And then on the other side. Sitting in crutches, you know, after the game, Emotion Halle stood on crutches near the locker room, waited for a squad in the tunnel, dapping up players and staff as they made their way to the locker room. Yeah, there we go.
Starting point is 01:13:32 All right, we got one. Okay. That's what I was looking for. Everybody got the dab. All right, we got two. Two and a half. So, all right. Two and a half, the dude right before him.
Starting point is 01:13:44 All right. Oh, no, that's a lot. No, listen. He know what I'm looking at. I know exactly what you rewind it back I know Me that can I got called that nigga not getting called Yeah, I call him that nigga no mo. Yep. You too. Fuck off. Okay, Pargo. I got baby. You ready? Yeah my dog This will have a He can add in that. Yeah. There we go But you you're the star player you've been carrying these niggas and I got hurt and you just walking by like I'm just one of the employees
Starting point is 01:14:17 Wait, wait, wait, wait, not me some bro, but not at that moment. We all fucked up. No, listen, we get it It's a game seven, bro. I hear you. It's a game seven. We both thought we'd get the same shit. Listen, I'm gonna give you a real story, right? When I got hurt in college my senior year, you know who came by and who didn't.
Starting point is 01:14:38 Right? Yeah, you know that. No, no, I'm saying, like, you know who showed you in real time, dog. Like, it's one of my team to this day, like it's stuff like that that you hold on to, right? Like you real vulnerable right now. Like Halliburton real vulnerable right now. He in his worst place he could possibly be.
Starting point is 01:14:57 But they all are right now. Not worse than him. Game seven. Nick, the man rupt is Achilles. I know. But you can't settle somebody how to feel after you lose. No, I'm saying, but he's in the worst place. I know how he feels. Remember, he can be home or in the locker room.
Starting point is 01:15:14 That means he walked his ass to them to greet his teammates. So if I'm walking by and it shows you. I went back to this. I got hurt, my nigga. I went, listen, I told them people hurt. I went back to the I got hurt money. I went listen. I told people I went back to the game though But I'm just saying I don't know what I'm doing at the time. I don't you don't know how I might feel. I still love you, but I'm fucked up, too I just lost and I could be at the hospital I could be some I stayed to the game to make sure y'all see
Starting point is 01:15:46 Make sure y'all. Okay, let me give y'all a dad because that was my thought process when I went back to the game is I gotta Show them. Mm-hmm, right? I got it like they have to see me cuz I'm their leader They got I got to show them this part, right? I'm gonna be I'm good I need y'all to like listen and for them to embrace him in that moment, that shit goes a long way, man. Trust me, it's gonna go a long way. You give me a five and walk by. All right. What if a man just got into it with somebody,
Starting point is 01:16:12 he don't know it's your man, man. Fuck this man, he just walk by, you don't know. You can't say, you can't say he feel, he don't love you the same. Cause he get emotional, whatever. I guarantee, I guarantee you. What if he like, man, fuck these niggas. Hey, the same shit we both looked at was looking at same shit as that's doing
Starting point is 01:16:36 Three niggas is my niggas now so the same shit I said about the Julius Randall thing right when they lost right? Yeah, you pointed out. I pointed out immediately Instead I'm gonna build his teammates, he went over to his wife. So it's little things like that, that in sports, we're talking about sports here, that go a long way within how we are within our dynamic of competing.
Starting point is 01:16:58 You walk by and you give me just the, I understand I'm on crutches, but whatever you got, you got to hold this crutch up nigga, give me a, like that's what he, like he's not expecting it, but when you do it, it means more than like, yeah man. CJ did, what Pargo did, that means like, yes, yes. I appreciate it. Even though we lost, you still.
Starting point is 01:17:22 Like appreciate you, all that, that moment said a lot to like Your sacrifice everything that you did for us to come out here to try to play like all that like that's So let's know what they did it at halftime or not Don't know what I'm telling what we saw what we saw I don't know what they did before but I'm talking about what my What I saw just now is what I can only go on So let's talk a little bit about more about how so after a summer that song when a gold medal with team USA and limited Action in a season in which he made his second straight all-mba team
Starting point is 01:17:54 How low was voted as the most overrated player in the league? But this postseason he politely told his critics to overrate that With a bunch of clutch moments including five game tying or go-ahead buckets in the final five seconds of games, with one of those coming in the Pacers game one win in OKC. But incident, his title hopes were gone, and now he starts the long road to recovery. So just for all of you watching, you all played at a high level.
Starting point is 01:18:15 Swaggy, obviously, been a champion, been in the finals, know what that feeling is like. How heartbreaking was it to see Halle go down in game seven of the NBA final? That was the worst thing. Oh, that's tough, man. That's super tough. It was sad just because the moment, too,
Starting point is 01:18:34 but just sad to see people go down in general. Like this is, and knowing you might not see him next year. You know, I don't know if they came out and said it was Achilles, it's Achilles a key lead. Yeah, it's a key lead so in the key lead Yes, yes What I was a person? Yeah, man, it's tough just
Starting point is 01:18:58 Wish them all the best Speedy recovery you don't like to see players get hurt and no matter game it is, you don't like to see people go down like that. But especially in a game where game seven when you come back and you try to give it your all and you lose and some people just and people forget about you. That's the worst part. You know, they might remember you now, the sacrifice you did, but next year people don't, I just hope the owners respect what he did, for real. Cause after they move on from players so fast,
Starting point is 01:19:35 no matter what, it hurt or... It would seem like what he's at revitalizing this franchise, all that he's done, all the big moments, how he's got it. He's got it sometimes. I understand exactly what you're saying, but it seemed like this franchise is that he's done all the big moments how he's got it sometime Yeah, I get I understand exactly the same but it seemed like this franchise is gonna do right by Halle obviously But I mean, Indiana. I mean I mean, I don't know what kind of business man man business man are I?
Starting point is 01:20:05 Got a product that I was selling that was moving like clockwork and now it's fucked up Alright, I would be Lord. So I would get a new fucking piece I got a Bugatti over here. He got this small-ass wheel in the what you think? I'm gonna keep trying to drive this motherfucker fast. I'm just gonna go get a new car. I Think you're gonna the wheels bad. You're gonna take that car to the shop The wheel ain't gonna never be the same and then they're gonna go get a new one And then just got a little faster. That's just a part. He just got a little down What it's listen, it's it fuck my mood up. All right, I was I was You know, I decorated for both sides, right? I got my holly shit on that side
Starting point is 01:20:44 You know, I decorated for both sides. I got my Holly shit on that side Just in case I got my SG on this side, right? So like I'm expecting to be good and when he went down like It's fuck's up This is the this is memories this is the game Like this supposed to be where your leg the legacies are built right it just You start off the game like like he was game seven. It looked like this nigga was about to just do Whatever was meant for him. It was about to happen Like he started off the series he started off the game on fire already We straight through you know every time he starts like that. That's one of them 30 20s and like that's his game
Starting point is 01:21:26 So the fact that he was already in his mold and when he went down I think it kind of like shifted the whole yeah, like everybody's moved We like when he went down it just seemed like the rest of the game like everybody's fucked up Yeah, it'll be topping with spoilers in that game after the game admitted like Yeah, you know so it took For Oklahoma City to go in the halftime. Like I think it fucked them up more than they fucked up. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:21:49 Like Indiana. Yeah, yeah, everybody up. You expected me and you to go back and forth. Yeah, they had to go in the halftime. Like, hey listen, I need y'all to, hey, hey, hey, lock in, hey, we get it. Yeah, we try to win. Try to win still.
Starting point is 01:22:01 Like that's what the Oklahoma City came out third quarter. Like they went in and had the ref. That's the match they said before the game and all of me. They heard it, but this man go down right in front of your bench and everybody just like. Yeah, it kinda. Yeah, it's fucked up. Like it just drew all the fucking air out the building, man.
Starting point is 01:22:18 Like that good rival you think you about to go, he on fire, you hit your shot. Yeah, we about to have one of them nights, baby. You playing well. Yeah, we about to have one of them nights, baby. He's playing well. Yeah, we about to have one of them nights for him. And soon as you went down, it's like his game went down too. He's struggling. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:22:32 Oh, it's his score. Yeah. It was just a rough night. Yeah. It's just not. He don't like to see shit like that. Being in the match or something, like when you did yours, I want me to bring it back to him.
Starting point is 01:22:43 Like, did you have like, I don't know if I asked you this before, were you having like calf injury, like problems or anything? Yeah, so like I was out, it was already lingering before. Yeah. And I was just playing through it and this is with Stan Van Gundy. So you know, he don't care. So I'm not even really, I'm just playing through it because we on a hot streak, we five and 23 and you know, my team just need me So then um, yeah, I just tore my shit up in Milwaukee
Starting point is 01:23:08 Just came back down like the same way the same way he did just coming off and my whole thing just popped Yeah, I just cuz I just won like dude the history of the injury, right? It's wearing terror. Yeah, there's a warning It's the one sort of yes my thing I've never like I was on the team when for Sean Leonard did his I was on the team with Chauncey did his like it's Hey But is it it's the pace so I asked you I asked like you like you saw back here, too So it's all back there you just start like you know you just put your face like you know
Starting point is 01:23:42 Feel like just wearing tear. Yeah, just wearing tears. Just wearing tears and soreness. Yeah, just another thing. Yeah, that's what you think it is. I'm gonna get in the tub. Same thing with KD in 2019. I'm gonna save this game out. I'm gonna get some extra treatment.
Starting point is 01:23:54 I'm gonna do this, I'm gonna do that. Then, yeah. Same thing with KD in 2019. We saw him in the locker room before the game. Hitting and doing it, and then, you know, obviously. Yeah, I just, yeah, it's, it fucking, it sucks, man. Injuries, like, as soon as he did it, man, I just, my first reaction to that is just, fuck injuries, man.
Starting point is 01:24:11 You know what the fucked up part about it is? If you ask him, like, if you ask him, all right, look, you about to blow your Achilles out, all right? Still going. And then rewind it and say, all right, look, you're about to blow your Achilles out. All right. Still going. And then rewind it and say, all right, are you going to play this game? You're going to say yeah, every time. 100%.
Starting point is 01:24:33 Because. As a competitor, you don't believe that part of it. And there's no Superman. And you're not going to not play for those players. And that's the horrible part. Hold up, hey, shoot, did you just hear that? Did you hear what this man just said? Your team didn't do that.
Starting point is 01:24:59 They didn't look around the locker room and say I'm gonna play for him, or him. Right, when they say that game, too Your team that that's why y'all won in the championship. Yeah, I went in the championship when you when you're talking When you talk about get hurt when you talk about that the injury because you remember we are playing through injury You playing through knees and you got a drink shit into my hand hurt So somebody say yeah my calf a little sore in this game seven It's just and you say I'm not gonna play
Starting point is 01:25:30 You don't play and we lose we're never good you're never gonna get that respect you never live in that you never Living that down Crazy Leader and play Yeah down. Not in a locker room. Sounds crazy. When you're the leader. You're the leader too. Little calves. It sounds crazy. And you can tell them exactly this. They told me if I go out there's a 100% chance that I'm gonna rupture my shit. And your team ain't all this money for the softest shit. He's got a shake. He's got a shake. He's got shake! He's gonna shake! He's gonna shake! He's gonna shake! You don't wanna ask? You don't wanna? But let me ask y'all this, you've seen the record seen with KD in 2019, saw it with Damien, saw it with Tatum
Starting point is 01:26:10 Shit don't matter, man. Your teammates don't give a fuck about that But from this point forward now when it's like, y'all I got a calf strain, there's gonna be a little bit more sympathy for it. And they gonna play? No! They still, go roast your shit Your team, listen dog, go expect you to play If your calf, it isn't, you're cab hurt this goes for your doctors
Starting point is 01:26:28 Look at you. You're listening to what we're saying. We're saying you tell us and the report is your calf sore It's the other 14 players. Don't give a fuck You ain't playing nigga you something wrong with you. You better say a key. Yes, say Achilles Yes, all cab anything strange. I say Achilles. Say Achilles. All calf, anything, strange. Just say Achilles and we will be like, man. Yeah, yeah, don't fuck with him. Don't fuck with him. You better tell us exactly what it is.
Starting point is 01:26:53 Man, look at that calf right there. You better tell us exactly what it is. You better say, hey, Achilles strange. We'll be like, hey, man, hey, sit down for a while. Yeah, we know what's on the backside of him. We'll try. Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, no, no, no, no. You'll have to. No, no, no, don't fuck with that, man. for a while. Yeah, we know what's on the backside of him. We'll try. Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, no, no, no.
Starting point is 01:27:06 You're half of it. No, no, no, don't fuck with that, man. Just go on. Go on, sit. We got you. We understand. You're the man on the team, and you expected... We expect to play through shit as is,
Starting point is 01:27:16 but when you're the man on the team, you expected to play through a little more. You expected to deal with a little more. So whatever is going on, like Gil's point, them guys really, during the regular season, yeah cool, it's my opportunity to go out and play. Yeah, hey you got a toe, the toe sole? Yes, hey sit down, you got a headache?
Starting point is 01:27:36 All right, shit, let me go out and get these motherfucking 25 shit shot that Gil didn't get tonight. Cool, but when it's for all the marbles and shit is for. Motherfuckers, get your ass out there. Hey dawg, that's the funniest shit about players, right? Get tonight. Yeah cool, but when it's for all the marbles and shit is Shit about players right you miss it in regular season my ego can get all 25 I'm gonna take 25 shots, nigga, you crazy. You ain't about to boo me out, this bitch. I don't listen to that. I don't need everybody out this motherfucker. And it's so bad.
Starting point is 01:28:10 This is the fucked up thing. What you think you do, think about it. This is some crazy shit I'm about to say, but we won't say it. It's never happened. Not in my 15-year tenure, but just say by chance there's a death in the family or something, right? Dudes ain't gonna say it. You ass better show up to that game. It depends on the death though. It depends on the death.
Starting point is 01:28:29 Some dudes. Nah, man. Some like brother, mama die. I'm telling you, Nick. Real talk, you talk to dudes after they get done playing. Have a conversation with a motherfucker now. I ain't saying no happening when they playing. Have a conversation with a motherfucker now.
Starting point is 01:28:41 I'm telling you, nigga, like listen, bro. Everybody got mad at me when for the first time in my career Heard someone have a baby at 5 o'clock in the a.m. There's a game at 9 p.m. And not show up I've never heard of go over and I was like what the fuck you talking about? Oh, yeah Oh, yeah Now tell me have you ever heard of anybody missing the game for the child that little No, no, but that's just wild Call me
Starting point is 01:29:20 I want to call you you Just never hurt because we we didn't even know that was an option Because it's like real because I know one thing is this teammates But man, we're just fucking little ass kid nigga. We got a game today. We play my fucking You go after what the fuck you gonna do it Do it sleep anyway And that's exactly what it so what we do is we go listen like if it's out of town what we do? Yeah. We go to the game after the game we go where we supposed to go. If the baby is before the game we go see the baby.
Starting point is 01:29:55 I'll be right back gotta go to the game and come back. Cause Kevin. That's how it's always been. I never know I can tell, hey y'all. Fuck. I ain't coming today. You got a baby or what? What? Maternity leave? I had to fly cross country
Starting point is 01:30:10 I had to fly cross country Like I was in Just imagine I was in Phoenix on the 24th No on the 23rd We played landed in DC on the 24th in the morning Got the call had to fly back from DC to see the baby being born
Starting point is 01:30:29 Then coach said hey, we got practice in the morning. I Had to catch a red-eye to go to practice Morning I didn't go back I was looking for Christmas to then come back on the 26 to play fucking Col morning. I had to then go back. I was lucky. For Christmas to then come back on the 26th to play fucking Colby. I got lucky. I got traded on the day Nick was born. That's what we have to do. I never know what I can say. Hey man, fuck all y'all man. I'll be there on the 27th. I didn't know that was possible. So when he did it, it was confusing. Like, I didn't know you can do that. It's a game because of that.
Starting point is 01:31:03 It got to the point where I actually went through history And say all right Shaquille on there when your your kids was born and then I look Like I look okay, he's born on the 12th. There's the game on the 12th. Okay Shaq played on the 12th He put like so I was looking to see if like the player played During that game and no I didn't see nobody miss step was smart. He had his babies in the summer You gotta plan it out so we're gonna talk just tell you that's some championship babies We're beginning to season baby this are you training can't know them to train a cat baby Training camp, no, they're not training camp babies. So we got a special...
Starting point is 01:31:44 That's what training camp was. We got a special guest coming through the arena shortly so we're going to talk more Hallie and Pacers then. But let's talk about some other big news going on in the NBA. So on the final day of the season the Rockets and Suns came through with a blockbuster trade that sent shockwaves through the league with Houston
Starting point is 01:32:00 landing 15-time All-Star and two-time finals MVP Kevin Durant in exchange for Jalen Green, Dillon, the 10th pick in this draft and five second round picks. So Katie was on stage with Taylor Rooks at Fanatics Fest in New York when he found out the news and had this immediate reaction. So you may notice that Katie was at a boardroom event at Fanatics Fest when this news allegedly broke. It seemed like very, very good timing. Great mark.
Starting point is 01:32:49 Worked out. But shortly after that, KD did an interview with K Adams and offered these thoughts on the trade. You were smiling. What did that feel like? How do you feel? How happy are you? You know, when people can just hang your career in a balance like that and just choose what
Starting point is 01:33:03 they want to do with your careers and their record filling. But being able to kind of dictate what you want to do and being with a team that values you, I'm looking forward to it. Kevin, people are going to hold on to that dictate what you want to do. Did you have a hand in this? Most definitely. I mean, they asked me where I wanted to go, some of my destinations I gave to them, and here we are.
Starting point is 01:33:23 Can you tell me, you know, I'm going to follow you wherever you go, I'm going to be your biggest fan, I want to know why Houston. Obviously, close to Austin, you've got, you know, Ahmends there, Jeff Greens there, you played with him, why Houston? We just had a great season last year, loved our leadership, and I felt like I'd be a good addition. They wanted me to go, so it's like, I'm glad we both we both you know they got what they wanted and I got what I wanted so we can move on and good luck to them going forward. I always remember my time there but we on something else.
Starting point is 01:33:51 See you when I see you so Ken, what were you gonna say? Oh no I just said people just gullible. Why are they gullible? They just like really believe like they man like really found out just now but I'm glad he said it after the fact that he had a hand in, he knew what was going down and when and where and how. And yeah, people just so gullible like his reaction would have been a lot different had he not known. Right? Trust me.
Starting point is 01:34:16 Oh man, it's happening right there. My boy, my boy. Hold on, hold on. Hey, hold on. It would have been different. He would have had a different reaction if it was real. But no, shout out to, yeah, he got what he wanted. It was poor trust, man.
Starting point is 01:34:27 This was no Luca. So when they said that last was last week, they was like, he wanted to go to San Antonio. Rockets, I believe, he'd be in San Antonio. So I had some. Report that the Heat weren't willing to give the pieces necessary to make the move. So ends up with the Rockets.
Starting point is 01:34:44 We all thought Spurs may have been the best destination in terms of title hopes but you go to this Rockets team second in the West last year lost in the first round of words in seven games did the Rockets make the right move trading for Kevin Durant the right move yeah I mean when you when you're when you're talking about upgrading, if we're talking about Jalen Green versus Kevin Durant, then yeah, you upgrade it. But it all depends on what is your lineup, right?
Starting point is 01:35:18 You know, you still need a shooting guard. I mean, if you have eight men at the shooting guard, it kind of for right. You know, you got your bar. You still got the young big pieces where you can play at the three four five. However, you want to do that. You were safe with that.
Starting point is 01:35:32 You still got them young boys coming off the bench that can put the ball in the basket with Shepherd and can't win more. So you got you got something that you know, my thing was, you know, with the PG, like, you're a small guard. I'm expecting you and Kevin to be the pushers over the top. I think you need one more piece. OK. Right?
Starting point is 01:35:59 I don't know. Yeah, I'm not voting, really. What kind of piece? I'm not rolling really. What kind of piece? One I got to identify, what is A-man to me? Right? Like what is he? I know he's, he is that freak of nature, looks like he can do a little bit of everything.
Starting point is 01:36:16 Do I treat him like Scottie Pippen? Put him at the point, right? I'll take the point out of him if somebody's pressuring, if we're planning against Indiana or something like that. But if there's, if you just sit back there, put him at the point, he can use, like, you go downhill, he's big. Dreymon Green, yeah. So he'd be like my point forward where, you know, then, you know, now the Shays and all these big guards, we don't have to worry about doubling or anything because they gonna pick on on Lantavit Fred then from
Starting point is 01:36:45 there I need a experienced shooting guard. So you talked about this this give me some more veterans that I can rely on. This Rockets roster a lot of good young emerging developing talent also obviously Steven Adams resigned with the team so they've got a good core Shane Goon, an all-star, a man Thompson first team all defense but they also have five tradable first round picks. Yeah, I mean, as I said, it's still- If you wanna now make some more moves and really strengthen- Like, if they was four pieces away last year,
Starting point is 01:37:13 they probably won, you know, this season, they're one piece away. They're one good piece away for you. Yeah, yeah. Okay. Yeah. I like this trade. It's all, it's all-
Starting point is 01:37:22 You get traded. You got all the pieces there as you're trying to figure out. You get traded and you steal a piece away. Yeah. Yeah. I like this trade. You got all the pieces there as you're trying to figure out. You steal a piece away. Yeah. I like this trade for KD. The one is, he gave up too much. His help, like his help. You think they gave up too much?
Starting point is 01:37:32 They gave up way too much. They didn't give up nothing. No, they gave up Dillon Brooks and they gave up a young. You didn't have to give up Dillon Brooks. I think I did. But I don't need Dillon Brooks. Dillon Brooks is like the stone. I don't need Dillon Brooks because I got A-Man.
Starting point is 01:37:43 A-Man can do it. That's what made him that. A-Man was to look because I got a man a man can yeah, that's what Him trade him cuz a man turned into he made him expendable he made them No, but what I'm saying is a man was doing what? Pick Jamie green and all don't pick What ended up happening is think about it Brooks can't shoot like that But a man can't shoot like that so me me having them both on the court kinda hurt us shooting. His energy, he needs more than just shooting like A-Man.
Starting point is 01:38:11 Everywhere he went, he would. Yeah, but I have a young guy that turned into him, but better. So I can, hey, thank you, appreciate it, I didn't know he was gonna be that, but hey, we gonna go ahead and move you have you seen any cheaper right now I'm in play like that No rookie deal
Starting point is 01:38:36 But I was in his Brooks Brooks was there for the defense to stop in the what's-her-name who was first team on the a Man Thompson first him all these a man. Who was first team on NBA? Amen Thompson, first team on D-Town. Amen. He was first team. So he's an upgrade. Amen, KD, don't take you to the championship. No, no, Amen, KD, and Sangoon is my three centerpieces, which two of them is still immature in their game.
Starting point is 01:38:58 That's why I said I need someone at that two, and our four, well we're gonna play KD at the four. I think you go back to the natural position. Three, four. I think you go back to the natural position. Three, two, three. You go back to the natural position. I'll put in what, was it Easton? Unless you're gonna play Jabari Smith at the four. Yeah, Katie at the three and then whoever.
Starting point is 01:39:18 Katie at the three and then you, or you can go Thompson at the, I'm saying put the. But we talked all post-season during the Rockets playoff against the Warriors. They didn't have a go-to guy. Jalen Green, I think, had 12 points or less in six of the seven games. Did have that 138 point game.
Starting point is 01:39:31 Listen, I'm gonna just be honest with you. I'm gonna go with Eason a little bit more. Who, what? Yeah, cause you know Jabari, Smith. Shoot that bitch. He got that brown blood in him. But he shoot that bitch. I know, but he got that brown,
Starting point is 01:39:41 he's cousins with one brown. You can't trust that brown blood. Shoot that shit though. I mean, I hope the Smith blood is a little bit better cause that brown blood, oh that's a fair joke. Well, he shoot that I know but he got that brownies cuz it was one brown You can't trust the brown but shoot that shit I mean, I hope the Smith blood is a little bit better cuz that brown blood Shoot that nobody said anything about Thinking about thinking about the lineage the lineage. I'm saying 23 and me get your bar space the floor I know but I'm just hoping it's like like one of those play cousins not real cousin You know, I mean like we said we both grew up together
Starting point is 01:40:09 It ain't real like we got blood in the family. I know them play cousins. So play cousin, no real actual blood. But I like the bone. I like the bone. What y'all see? What y'all see? They trying to make some room for Marie Shepherd. They trying to make some, some medicine. I like the bone. They trying to make some room from Mary Shepard trying to make some to me like the bone trying to make some room from him because he can't shoot and score that motherfucker it is just like that like if you're KD is like it this team is good but already developed that's already the man second see with what they had right if in the second see what what they had a good a good regular see the good regular but what's that but he helps now I make like
Starting point is 01:40:45 defensively it cleans up a lot of like he's gonna help a lot it's it's sent like if sangoon is figured like there was times where I'm looking at sangoon is like no no that's your shot shoot that shot right he's still trying to get in there fucking with jeremon green like no take the take that shot the elbow that's cool that's what kat in. Yeah, and he's sitting there fucking around like if Katie can teach him when to here This is these are the shots you take don't make it harder and he can improve Then you change the game shame going 22 years old He's still trying to figure out his name and he's really gay man, like if they was all 20 If this was like 24 and he came in, I'm like yeah.
Starting point is 01:41:28 You know they're 22. This is like, let's not pretend that these niggas is not 21, 20. Like what I'm saying is they're starting five is younger than OKC starting five. Like Van Fleet makes them old, but like OKC, what makes them young is they benches them to the guys that they not playing is young as fuck But if you look at their like Caruso is not young shades not young Harden science not young. Yeah, right. So three main piece thing young I mean Chet is 24 jail in 20 what so, you know, you got two guys sitting there 23 and 20. So they're youngest.
Starting point is 01:42:05 They're older than the whole Rockets starting five. So here's a question for all of you. So you got Fred Van Vliet on a team option. Rockets are expected to decline that team option, work with him on a team friendly deal, eventually. So me personally, I want to get a point guard. I bring Fred Vliet as the sixth man. Chew him like TJ.
Starting point is 01:42:23 Because he does get picked on in the poll. They pick on him. So what do you do with Rees Shepherd though? Because you did spin a top five pick on him. So let's not, so this is, he's wild, so let, he's that. He's small too. He's small too, but what do you, do you put him on the, do you let Fred walk and start him at the point?
Starting point is 01:42:40 Because he is small and you did spin a top five pick on him. And Fred is gonna cost more than he, Fred costs more than him right now. But if I'm trying to but the problem is if I'm trying to win a chip and I need them veterans on there I do need Fred. Yes. So I gotta see what's available. Yes. That PG like who is like I need somebody that's sitting at 6465. I dig it. If not then I don't need a point guard. I'll go with A-man at the point. And have Reed coming off the bench and be the TJ type.
Starting point is 01:43:10 Right, it's one of those things where, man, you still got like, you still got some thinking to do. It ain't just saying, just you got KD and we good. Cause they got capital. They got picks. They got a lot of picks. They got incredible picks. They got a lot of picks.
Starting point is 01:43:23 They could work it with a couple of them dudes who they but it'd be tough. Boston's trying to move Jalen Brown. That's a good one. Gil, I don't know if you heard what he said. Shit, they trying to move Jalen Brown. No, Drew Holliday. Ah. I'm saying like if you can work that with Boston and get him and for some picks and a couple of them bits, but listen. Now you get some older guys on that roster to bounce out the younger guys.
Starting point is 01:43:44 Or that it fit them white there was white and just be a straight natural yeah yeah yeah he could be just an act like a man you're the point yeah if they press her give the ball to white if not you'll be the two to spot up like that one gotta get off money though that's my thing boss gotta get off to money that's why why I said they But for a year after giving him the money like that I'm saying so this now we already got to get off of the new owner coming in I get it And they know no other trades if it starts today, and they just got could they get if they just We're gonna be sitting there doing we did with a case
Starting point is 01:44:21 So yeah, they're not ready yet, and they gonna have to prove us wrong If there is a lot of starting five of them fleet of men Thompson Jabari Smith KD and He isn't man. You're getting a 27 a night score He moves the fuck of the needle. Yeah, he moves the needle for he moves the needle I don't care what what team you put Kevin Durant on Kevin Durant So immediately after the trade went down Yes, the Rockets jump to the second shortest or second best odds to win a championship next season. You agree with that? They're not making a playoff. So right after the tray went down, the Rockets jumped to the second best odds to win a chip in 2026.
Starting point is 01:44:56 They didn't lose nothing. They didn't lose nothing they thought was valuable. They gained but they don't have enough to win the finals right now. No, no When you talk about Oz you gotta remember anybody who didn't show up in the fight who didn't show up in In the series he struggled right so they went to a game seven and he struggled 13 points Oh, well, if we remove him and put Katie in there 25% better We get to the second round. And that's how they're looking at it. Right, so we're gonna get a consistent worst case scenario, 20 to 27.
Starting point is 01:45:32 Oh shit, we might be in the fucking Western Conference. That's how they're looking at it, just with that trade. But for KD, you're 37. You don't have room. You don't have no room to be trying to Try to get them better. No So we asked the chat did the Rockets make the right move trading for KD 74% of the chat thinks the Rockets did make the Right decision trading for a team. Like we said, we talked about them having that go-to guy having a good young roster Warriors exposed a lot of their deficiencies and issues in that first round series.
Starting point is 01:46:05 All right. Everybody's in jail. I got a question. It's not a question, it's kind of more like a statement. It goes on to why this series was not entertaining for the masses. For some, I was very entertained. Cool.
Starting point is 01:46:25 I know you had a great time. Thank you. You know, you did, Dory. Me too. I know. Love small markets. Yes. Even though it was the worst one since 1988.
Starting point is 01:46:32 Small market. But that's neither here nor there. Wasn't there a rule in the championship round where there shouldn't be no trades or any business done So the trade was announced the deal we can't go through to early July once the military mother is Correction, let me try it again Wasn't there a rule by the commissioner that you can't announce shit during the finals? So everything has to be on the finest
Starting point is 01:47:01 The history seen I didn't know you anything happy doing if I it was a that's a rule I've never seen that see you ever doing that. I think come on Steve Commission does not a commissioner rule During the finals, yeah, look like the finals itself What's like a code red? A code red. We just know what it is get get they said fuck it three times in the finals man the Orlando finals Houston finals I Don't know you could trade. I didn't either I don't know you could trade
Starting point is 01:47:38 No, it was it was all it was always like a no whatever happened It was always a no-go during the finals and they wanted all everyone to pay attention Well, guess what who leave this is it ain't his leave Hey another man, it'd be some constant question repercussions You did that shit with David Stern's NBA you had a whole issue but my question for you Do you feel like they went behind the back or was that? We in the fucking views we want a thought I can't eat shit out there big d-d Let's have them buzz but let's have a buzz
Starting point is 01:48:16 Hopefully turn on ABC at 5 like he says On Game 7! On Game 7! At Fanatics! At Fanatics too! Everybody's gonna be there media, all that shit. That's where it's changing to Gil. Just so NBA's trending.
Starting point is 01:48:36 What part of NBA, this shit gonna be trending. Everybody got their own platform. We're gonna hit number one. We're gonna hit number one around this bitch. During the boardroom panel. Yeah smart move Katie. Very smart. Very strategic Announce anything with my logo behind everything but the game everything but the game itself was trending Goddamnit the buses before the game a best a part of the game. Good. Yeah, it's gonna go into streaming No, but overall, for us,
Starting point is 01:49:09 it was good basketball, man. They went seven games, man. They did, two small market juggernauts. Yeah, so- Beautiful to see. That's the best you can- Like the Packers and the Steelers. What would have been worse if it would have been a sweep?
Starting point is 01:49:19 Like that's the worst thing that could have happened. If it would have came out and been Oklahoma City would have swept him and it would Have been like the fuck was Indiana doing anyway? And you ready to run NASA like then that but you got a seven game good basketball series out of it What was drama? Yeah drama it was game one No, that's game one that them going back down going to Indiana to one Indiana possible going up three one for us. For me it was good storylines, it was good entertainment.
Starting point is 01:49:47 Because I love watching good basketball and people competing at the highest level. When you're playing for something, it matters to me. So... Yeah, after game one, like game one, right? You're talking about the comeback, the game winner, boom. Game two, the game was over, so it wasn't even interesting. Like it was a blowout. Then game three, it was game three, it was a blowout.
Starting point is 01:50:13 Wasn't even game four, then it blew out, coming back. It was never. We even went up two one. That's why it was a good time. But it was a blowout. That's why people were like, damn, you gotta get a chance. But the game itself was a blowout.
Starting point is 01:50:26 But that's what I'm saying. It wasn't like the game. The game itself was being played. And we sitting there, like it was game two, blowout. Game three, blowout. Even the game, OKC, they came back. Then it was a blowout. We never really got to sit there like we did game one.
Starting point is 01:50:42 Like game one was the best game out of the series But no cuz we got to sit there the last three minutes like Like they did it in the first round, okay, they did the second Oh, they did they didn't need to come to find out shit. They gonna do the same thing like I didn't go Oh shit, they came back. Oh shit One was boring shit. So it was boring Like when we think about born until it wasn't exactly but my point is but then the rest of it was boring all the Way too good was never no coming back like the New York Knicks in them. That was a series Every game we were sitting like oh shit. Play for play for play for
Starting point is 01:51:25 play. We was looking at it. Can you name me three plays in that? No, no, no. And the was it Mr. B you help you help uplift the viewership of the NBA finally. No, no, no, no, no, I'm talking about the dunk. The dunk. the siakam dunk I come dunk the siakam demonize the Thundertaker Yo, TJ TJ what which 40 ball from gentlemen just think of the 40 balls I'm saying the dunk and I'm saying that has been I mean a play. Yeah When the ball went in the basket TJ, yeah No, gentlemen is cooking bro. No, y'all talking about a play that I'm talking about
Starting point is 01:52:17 I said the dunk He dunked on two people that was a regular dunk. You can bite the shit. I don't Williams and Then the past From the steel to the no That's to that's how boring the game Yes That's too that's how boring the game Don't when we talking about ducks that we were in the finals Got four feet The pussy body on a poster like a letter definitely on that motherfucker. Tell me how life from last year from Dallas and
Starting point is 01:53:11 Celtic I appreciate the overhead fan No, we're talking about like John they show you what about last year? That's a hand. Can you give me a moment from last year? No, it was boring and then I just get here before that. It was not born last year and then give that Six and the Dallas that shit was not born. Give me a moment then and then when he cooked that nigga Luca Give me one with And then when he cooked that nigga Luca hat for him. I know you don't want to include the TJ McConnell. The Denver one. Give me one with Denver in Miami. He is the moment. Motherfucker.
Starting point is 01:53:49 Okay so we can add him. The game winner. The game winner and the dunk. Those three moments that's like. Man. TJ's play in the finals. That's a moment. Alone is a moment.
Starting point is 01:54:00 That's a moment. In itself. Caruso. 20 feet. It's his own thing right. TJ McConnell's play in the finals is his own thing. No matter the points last game He had fucking lot of turnover. You want to add that into it. It was a thing But just so happened. It's just too small mark So two small markers, but you got to give love and show love man to them dude to them teams fan base man
Starting point is 01:54:23 They like Wait later, I'm saying like they know love and show love man to them dude to them teams fan base man they like did it was way littered than that shit last night when Milwaukee won it was 50,000 people out there it was way better than that it looked more in there when I wanted walkie play you I was there so Swag your family Milwaukee your family Milwaukee still look your family in Milwaukee still looking for you. Speaking of, hold on, speaking of, yo, some dudes, listen, hold on, I'm gonna read this, you gotta read it. Somebody sent me a message about you.
Starting point is 01:54:57 In Milwaukee? No, some nigga from Detroit, won't smoke, nigga. Hey. I don't know nobody in Detroit. Oh, that's the thing. I guess when we was talking about the Memphis shit, when we were talking about the Don't About Niggas dying in Memphis and this, that, and the third. Oh, yeah, yes. This, Josiah, you want to read?
Starting point is 01:55:17 Milwaukee. Okay, I will do my best. Let me read the message. Oh, this is a, okay, it's a very long message. No, you read the top part, right? Read the first half This is hilarious. I'm from I'm from Detroit player And once this is this message directed towards for you said I'm from Detroit player and once from my way rock with bros
Starting point is 01:55:35 Like you MFs about their business while standing ten toes down, which is one of the reasons I sent you this text I just saw your podcast and the subject was about Stephen a comments one, doesn't want to play for the Memphis Grizzlies, I wanted to dress your dumb ass, want to be tough ass, homie, swaggy P, but I have to follow the clown in order to do so, and I don't like attaching myself to weakness. Blood spoke on Detroit, nobody asked his bitch ass about Detroit. Tell that nigga to come to a game at the LCA at Little Caesar's Arena and say that shit outside in front of the stadium during the game. I have a family who was born and raised in Oak Ridge, Chattanooga, Alcoa, Jackson and Dam near every other city except Memphis. They don't even go to Memphis dumbass nigga.
Starting point is 01:56:14 Whoever it is, I think you proved his point. I don't think nobody, I don't think he wants to go in there. Like if he was a free agent, I don't think he wants to go in there anymore. he was a free agent You scared this shit up about is the point right? That's why nobody went there You motherfuckers outside good game-banging on people put me in San Francisco I have to read the shit like like first part of it. I had to read it like four times. Like yo, is he talking about me or is he talking about Nick? I was confused. Like is he mad at me or is he mad at Nick?
Starting point is 01:56:51 Like I was really lost at first. I'm like. Like, but look, on the subject of that, when it comes to certain cities, as a sports person, they actually, they do value you because you are putting the city on you, wearing the city on you. The only way, the only way the city themselves
Starting point is 01:57:16 are fucking with you as a person is because you think you bigger than them. So that means you in the club doing goofy shit, fucking with the streets, dude And you if you just walking around being normal doing this streets don't ever fuck with you We're not sleeping the niggas when they see you out. Yeah, I mean like you like you say hey, man Can I get all that they always are? Can I get autograph you my man get the fuck on out here that back right there?
Starting point is 01:57:40 Or sometimes they need a death definitely go up. Yeah, they could put his hand and you feel you do of those like yeah, that's when it's with him. You get nigga one of these. Yeah Now you go in there you like you showed us the love and respect man They ain't saying trying to fuck with your jury they they they respect you if you respect them. Yeah, we can I call she they do No for damn sure in DC themselves. I never walked around with a bodyguard, walked around my jury, nothing. Nothing too. I was in Berry Farms, I'm having fun with the locals and shit. So. They can't walk around LA.
Starting point is 01:58:14 Motherfuckers, they can't walk around LA. I went to Berry Farms and there was just a car on fire. I don't know how it got there, I don't know who put it out. It was just sitting there on fire. It was just sitting there burning. Nobody came, nobody came to do anything. It was just sitting there on fire. It was just sitting there burning. Nobody came to do anything. It was just a basketball game going on. Hey, man, where the fuck is uh...
Starting point is 01:58:30 I'm going to let you ask him when he shows up since you want to be tough. You got you. You don't know the full... Two o'clock come. Is he in here yet? We going late today. Where the fuck is Ron Artin? I'm calling a nigga Ron. It's championship Monday here in New York.
Starting point is 01:58:43 We are going long today. He better come here and metal world. He better come here metal world Yeah, I heard. You had two days off last week. I don't know if he know his time. You had two days off last week. You better get the hours back. Shit, you gonna ask this nigga two questions. All right, get down, folks.
Starting point is 01:59:14 He got gang bang, brother. Oh, okay. Yeah, my neighbor too. What you gonna do about it? He had a rattlesnake at his house that a rattlesnake has been exposed of. Happy to announce, a rattlesnake no longer has a head. This shit going on here. What are you doing?
Starting point is 01:59:29 Hey bro, I don't know how y'all do it over there. That was my first one I ain't seen. I used to see more when I stayed in Calabasas. Yeah. I had plenty of them up that motherfucker. Rattlesnake. What's it's about? Rattlesnake.
Starting point is 01:59:40 Rattlesnake. So gotta keep. I saw Steve Austin. Gotta keep him. Shady baby. Gil you asked and you shall receive so we got a special guest making his first Appearance in the arena better late than never one of the biggest led to the NBA history hailing from Queens Bridge, New York He played 17 season the league with six different teams. What's up, baby?
Starting point is 02:00:10 Mr. America. 17 seasons in the league with six different teams. What's up, legend? How you doing? He came in and walked out. 2004 Defensive Player of the Year with the Pacers. Y'all blowing it down. Let me give you a proper introduction.
Starting point is 02:00:24 So play 17. We are blue. We play play 17 seen the league six different teams a defensive player in 2004 with the Pacers and a chip with the Lakers in 2010 crucial in that game seven win meta Santa for our test. Welcome to gills arena present. That a real piece. That a real piece again.
Starting point is 02:00:47 That a real piece again. Now, you know, I got married. So I did. Yeah. Okay. So I got married. My wife name is Santa for. Okay, so she made me change my name.
Starting point is 02:00:59 Okay back to her name. All turn. Yes. I was like, you know, I thought I was a man, but apparently I'm not. So apparently I'm not. I had to change it to her. So now you're back to metal, World Peace? No, I just like, I changed my name to her last name.
Starting point is 02:01:12 Yeah. We maybe came together, I'm a sender for the artist, but I just try to keep World Peace because it's simpler that way. Yeah, it is. And who doesn't love World Peace? He said she didn't want to be in the airport like, oh, Miss World Peace, you're late for your flight.
Starting point is 02:01:24 It's kind of loud. We need it right now, though. Everything going on, we need the World Peace. You know what I mean? It's good. More than ever right now. So you spent parts of five seasons with the Pacers during your career, one defensive player of the year
Starting point is 02:01:33 there in 2004. You were at that. Light work, light work, too. Very light. Very light. You're talking shit. Very light work. You're just talking shit.
Starting point is 02:01:40 That shit was light. You were back in Indiana for the finals. Some of your former teammates. What was that experience like for you? What was the atmosphere like in Indiana? Obviously, we're going to talk Halliburton in a second, but before that, what was that experience like to see the Pacers back in the final with a chance to win the chip? It was great, man.
Starting point is 02:01:55 I thought we was going to win. I went, you know, we thought Cleveland was going to make it. You know what I mean? I thought Cleveland, Boston, obviously, OK, see, I had them winning it. But the Pacers started ramping up. You know, we we had a schedule we had things planned for the end of June you know I'm gonna go to the playoffs I went to the Milwaukee game but we didn't see this coming so everything changed you know it was like damn we got this opportunity to win it you know we had an opportunity to win it but I messed that
Starting point is 02:02:21 up right and well no I no, I blame the business. I'm a fan. I'm a fan. I'm like a lot. So, you know, but then, you know, if they would have wanted this year, it would have felt like we want it. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 02:02:36 It was just, it happened so quick. It's like when Tim's get fired, now the Pacers go, all this stuff we can't, we didn't be able to prepare for, but man, it was a hell of a run, man. It was a hell of a run. a paces go all the stuff. We can't be didn't be wasn't able to prepare for but Man, it was a hell of a run man. It was a hell of a run. I see you still rocking the finals Yeah, I know I still got the Look, yeah, man. It was a hell of a run. I still got I don't know what I'm gonna take it off Actually when I get my nicking with you, I probably take it off. Okay. I want to be head coach of the Knicks
Starting point is 02:03:00 Okay, they gotta bring a real one. We're gonna talk about that in a second because you are real one Yeah, but let's talk little Tyrese Halliburton. So third Eastern Conference star to suffer an Achilles injury this postseason joining Dame Jason Tatum in a strange coincidence All three players were number zero good We don't know if number zero is cursed now, but how he knew the wrist of all were playing through that calf strain Obviously, this is the finals but meta did the Pacers make the right decision letting Halle play game six and seven with the right capturing? You know, I looked at it, I was looking at it,
Starting point is 02:03:28 I was talking to chat GPT today, I said how many Achilles injuries was there when we came in versus now? It's more Achilles injuries now than there were when we didn't have this technology. That's just one, you know? It was years when nobody had an Achilles injury. That's wild, so when you get that calf strain right here in the back,
Starting point is 02:03:51 that's telling anybody, you know what I mean? But who's going to sit game seven, man? I'm not sitting game seven. Right. I don't know what it is, but it's... These ones are weird because it's their off leg. Like, it's their... Like, this was his right...
Starting point is 02:04:11 He's a righty, you know. He goes, he's, you know, he jump... So, it used to be our dominant leg. Like, when you talk about Kobe, it's his dominant leg. So, everybody else has been their off leg. Like, they're putting so much pressure on, I call it negative moving Right that that is like when you think about every time we're doing it doing that negative step where
Starting point is 02:04:33 I'm doing a random step back to push off and they're pushing off with The wrong foot And I'm like well they packed in the way up. Yeah, I'm like Different is that what it is like all this you know all that this the wrong foot And i'm like well they packed in the layups. Yeah, i'm like is it a coincidence different training? Oh, is that what it is? Like all this, you know all that this and like this one been built for a long time All this new shit off of Band work and it's not getting under that motherfucking squat machine. Yeah, thank you like doing this shit that you can do man Like that new age training I get's too many days off too, man.
Starting point is 02:05:07 I get the new age training. I get that, man, but history has shown, man. And when you do certain, like weightlifting and certain things, man, it's been, to your point, like the dudes wasn't, the weight band training and all that shit, it never was a thing back then, man. So it's, them dudes got under the, real, they doing real live,
Starting point is 02:05:30 pyrometric shit with the weights. It's like, they, it's, they played. I'm just saying it, man. It's just, it's too much. They played though, they didn't have breaks. Played. They played, what's the deal?
Starting point is 02:05:40 I mean, you played, you played in the summertime. Hell yeah. You played all the time. All summer, yeah. I think y'all did, right? We played in the summertime. We were full speed and shit, man. Yeah, man.
Starting point is 02:05:49 How much was the training versus playing when you were in the league? Man. Many training camps and shit now, go ahead. No, you got it. I was gonna, no, I played all the time, man. Once my season was over, I was back in New York playing basketball outside, like all year.
Starting point is 02:06:05 And I did it until I was about, actually I don't think I ever stopped playing basketball outside, but I think you gotta play. You know what I mean? Like what is, okay, so when we're talking about things that we do and what they're doing, right, when they're, how was the Achilles' tears in football?
Starting point is 02:06:23 I think more common. Than what we... I mean with blown ACL, all that type of... Okay, then how about Track? Because their start off is exactly that. That's stretching. They do certain things. But I don't even think it's a thing. Yeah, like it's just...
Starting point is 02:06:39 It's wear and tear, like you guys said. It starts off with certain things, man. But I just... Because it's not even on take... Like when we're talking, it's not even on take... It's like when we're talking, it's not even on takeoffs. Like, I expect like that about it. When you think about it, it's like,
Starting point is 02:06:52 you would think that, ooh, like you're doing something that explosive, but it's always... Yeah, because you're a kid, you're a kid, at least like you're taking off. So, even with mine, like it was just... I'm guarding Brandon, I'm guarding Brandon Knight and all he does is push off and then my shit just snapped back. like, it was just, I'm guarding Brent, I'm guarding Brent at night, and all he does is push off, and then my shit just snapped back.
Starting point is 02:07:07 So it's just, it's a- Were you tired? Like, can you tell, like, the day before? I remember I told him- Yeah, yeah, for sure. You can tell? Yeah. So I remember I told him, I'm in this, because I've never had an injury.
Starting point is 02:07:15 No ankles, knees, nothing. So I got, I remember, I got a massage the day before, and I actually, I think I went out the night before, you know, I did have a little bit of alcohol. And I just was like, you know, I never had a meniscus injury, you know what I mean? I'm like, damn, what could it have been? I was, I was with, I figured with Coach I was with. But I think we was playing a lot.
Starting point is 02:07:34 Kobe got hurt that year, I think. You know what I mean? I'm like going through the whole thing, but it was only a meniscus. I did a drop step on Draymond and then boom my meniscus You know Did you feel anything before it? I did I think I think that day I can't remember so long ago But I think I had a tight calf you know I mean anytime you got that tight back here that calf I think it's a time to shut it down, but I'm not shutting it down game seven. Ain't no way
Starting point is 02:08:04 You got respect for Halliburton going out there trying to give his all to bring the first chip back to the Pacers? Man, he was playing well, right? He was playing well, man. We was right there. Man, it was incredible. He should get a statue.
Starting point is 02:08:17 Okay. So I was gonna ask you, what does Tyrese Halliburton mean to this Pacers franchise? You say he should get a statue. I just feel like what he did, like the excitement, you got Stack Jack was there, I was going to ask you, what does Tyrese Halliburton mean to this Paceman franchise? You say he should get a statue. I just feel like what he did, like the excitement, you got Stack Jack was there, I was there, we was like, J.O. came, like we was just excited. We on group text, group text like, this is exciting for us. You know, so I don't know, I feel like we love him.
Starting point is 02:08:39 I was looking at his highlights, you know, even just looking at the replay of the game, like a fan, you know, even just looking at the replay of the game, like a fan, you know, it's crazy. Like when, like a small market like that, like just them getting there, sometimes that's like the championship and people don't understand it sometimes. Unfortunately, yeah. Yeah. Because you over there said, he just get a statue for just getting us there.
Starting point is 02:09:02 That's it. Put it right outside the goddamn field house. We was out in Indiana. We were on game six. Everybody was out. We were out. We was out. It wasn't like us.
Starting point is 02:09:11 It wasn't like you. Yo. But it means something to that community, man, because basketball is huge out there. And for you never to have experienced that part of it as an organization, man, and to be on the doorstep again, come up short once again is, it's devastating, but they appreciate the journey.
Starting point is 02:09:34 They appreciate the players. They appreciate the players giving it their all. And to y'all point Tyrese going out there trying to play, the fans appreciate that even more, man. Unfortunately, he ended and do it did but he'll get so much love much more love and respect around the city because he did try So many said you went out you were turning up in the Indianapolis not like New York's Let's talk a little bit about New York So after Tim's got fired by the Knicks you threw your name in the hat to be his successor with the following tweet
Starting point is 02:10:02 Let's take a look at it your name and that had to be his successor with the following tweet. Let's take a look at it. We got to accept that is the perfect choice for head coach of the Knicks. It's 1999. This was supposed to happen. I never ran from the city when all the top players left NYC because it was hard. I went to St. John's.
Starting point is 02:10:15 I wanted to be drafted by the Knicks. I seem to be the only one unafraid of the city. I'm built to challenge the city. I'm the number one guy for the job. And I have a 360 degree experience. Yeah, you know like so one I want to say shout out to Tibbs because I was literally a van... I live in Canada also like I was at a small coffee shop just hanging out with my son. You know, that's it. But you know how these things happen. You get fired and then somebody get hired the next day. They already got a plan, you know, they got paid. So when I saw that tweet, I'm like, oh my goodness,
Starting point is 02:10:46 like, I gotta hop on this. I just, I don't have an agent, you know what I mean? I don't, I'm not represented by nobody. But I coach, I coach Cal State LA for seven years. I coach Cal State Women's. We went from not going to the tournament for 20 years to going to the NCAA tournament back to back. I'm associate head coach.
Starting point is 02:11:04 Now I'm a volunteer coach. I like my time, so I typically don't like to get paid because when I get paid, now I gotta do, I'm on your time. More responsibility when the check comes. More responsibility. But I'm coaching, I'm there at 6 a.m., I'm leaving my house at 5 a.m. every day. I'm there at 6 a.m.
Starting point is 02:11:17 This is coaching. So you can say it's women's basketball, but we can also say people have never coached. I'm on a record, you can see me at Cal State of Pasadena. But from that perspective, so I've been trying to go to New York since 99. I told my agent, Mark Bobstein, no not at the time, it was somebody else,
Starting point is 02:11:37 it was actually Kawhi's agent, Duane Martin and Mitch Frenkel. Duane was Kawhi's agent back then, he still is. But I was like, please get me to the next. I was supposed to go top 10 that year. And 15 pick is here. Baron Davis, we was in the hotel the night before. He was just like, kind of having a good time.
Starting point is 02:11:55 I had the Nick Jersey under my suit. The plan, the plan was that we need a building now. You know, the plan was we need a building. We here and we gonna win a title. I was gonna speak like that, so then I got drafted. I started crying. I was like, how did they pass up on me, right? So I started crying, and I see Tabs got,
Starting point is 02:12:13 shout out to Tabs got, the whole organization. This is not going that job, just telling you the story. So I see, I'm like, yo, what you doing? You on the stage, what you doing? You know, you was number one pick. I'm like, yo, how you didn't pick me? And the Bulls was like, yeah, I'm like, hold on a second. So, you know, so then that happened. I went to the Bulls and that was it. Like, I never had a chance. I was trying to get back to the Knicks, but then when you're with a team, it's like, okay, I'm with the Pacers. I love the Pacers joining on here right now. I love the Pacers and the Lakers.
Starting point is 02:12:46 I love the Lakers also. Lakers really helped me tremendously, my legacy. But in terms of coaching, I'm not afraid to go. You know what I'm saying? I'm not, people say, oh, you're not ready. Well, all right, prove it. That's just me.
Starting point is 02:13:03 I jump out there and I'll try. And if I know, I'm that's just me. I jump out there and I'll try and if I lose I'm okay with failing But this one I already know who I want to bring on. I got I got friends People I can make phone calls if I need to you know what I mean like this is easy Now I haven't got a call back by the way, so I mean like this is easy. That's the part that I do. Absolutely. It's the staff. It's the man. Now I haven't got a call back by the way so. We can run up on them. Oh they're not calling nobody back. They're not calling nobody back.
Starting point is 02:13:35 We know who the coaches are. They can call. They can call. They can call. Hey man, hey. Carlisle, you want a job? You can go see, no. No? Oh man. Carlisle you want a job? People stupid so next make this bad movie a show by the way, I was only I'm looking at this joint Ask me talk. I'm just like I seen it. I didn't know it was like this. This is fire I didn't know it was like this. This is fire Queensburg in the building Last time we was what together that was oh, yeah
Starting point is 02:14:19 This is dope man. I love to see what you've done. This is unbelievable. This is exciting to see players doing their own media This is incredible You talk about your love for Pacers also love love for the Lakers. Won a chip with the Lakers in 2010. Yes, sir. A thrilling game, seven. Remember, you did your thing in that game. You had two scents with the Lakers during your career. First in 2009 after the Lakers won their first of back-to-back chips. So what do you remember from your first conversation with Kobe
Starting point is 02:14:38 after you joined the Lakers? It was weird because I played really well in Houston. I was having 25 against them in the playoffs. I played really well. And that year in Houston, I was having 25 against them in the playoffs. I played really well. And that year in Houston, I was at Sacramento. I said, hey, this is my last year. I don't have a lot of options because you know my image and my,
Starting point is 02:14:51 I don't have a lot of options. I can't go many places. I said, y'all are gonna resign me. And then I don't wanna get much into it because I just don't wanna get much into it. So after I knew something wasn't gonna happen, I said, okay, I wanna go back to Indiana. So I said, okay, no, actually I wanted to try
Starting point is 02:15:08 to go to the Knicks. I was gonna go to the Knicks actually that year, but then something happened. That's what I wanna talk about, because it's big news, I wanna talk about it. So something happened with the Knicks, so that was gone. Donnie Walsh went back to the Knicks.
Starting point is 02:15:18 We had that history in Indiana. So it was, you know, why I bring metal back when we already had history, So then that didn't happen. So New York, Nicks, Indiana, then the Pistons. And I tried to go to the Pistons because I felt like, it's going to be some gangster shit. This shit is going to be gangster shit. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 02:15:36 To tell you the truth, I felt like if I can't go to New York and if I can't go to Indiana, because I wanted to go to Indiana first, the next logical for excitement, I'm always trying to do something like change my name. It's just panacea, metal world peace. I just get bored quick. So I figured if I go to the Pistons, that should just be fire. I'll let people know I tried to go back to Indiana. Well, they were scared of that.
Starting point is 02:16:00 Joe Juma was like, nah. I know people in the city. I know people all over the hoods, everywhere in the city. I'm good. So when that didn't happen, when that didn't happen, it would have been dope. But the Lakers called me at 1201. First call I got. So I'm at the SLS right here.
Starting point is 02:16:19 A great hotel. Yeah, I'm with my boys. The Lakers called me. The Lakers called my agent. I was with David Bowman at the time. And they were like, the Lakers want to speak to you. And I was like, for fucking what? Probably my language on national television or whatever.
Starting point is 02:16:31 No, they recurse on this. No, I know you all do. I typically don't, but I'm with you guys or whatever. But I'm like, for fucking what? Because I just got finished playing against Kobe. I don't want to play with Kobe. I also had a, I told the story before. King James called also. I was supposed to go to the Cavs. But I want to play with Kobe. You know, I also had a, I told the story before, King James called also, I was supposed to go to the Cavs.
Starting point is 02:16:48 But I want to play against these dudes. I already, you know, I want to play against these dudes, but it was literally my only option. I had no more options. You know what I mean? It was minimum. Name somebody averaging 25 in their prime against a championship team that's getting to mid-level. So that's the situation I was in.
Starting point is 02:17:05 You know what I mean? So the next morning I met with Dr. Buss. He said, you know, sorry, I'm not gonna be able to pay you what you deserve or whatever, but we'd love to have you on this team. I said, fine. And then I got the call from Kobe. But it was a hell of a journey, man.
Starting point is 02:17:18 LA, man, I love LA. So what was that first call with Kobe? Like, has Kobe told the story that he basically told you, you can't be on no bullshit out here, you gotta be ready to go? Yeah, that was there. Yeah, he did say that. He was like, don't be like doing, you know, I was rapping, I was changing my name,
Starting point is 02:17:36 all this, leave all that shit out. He was really serious too. You can hear it in his voice. Great from the start, right? voice. Great from New York. You can hear it in his voice, Lee that shit. He's the top five hoopers out of New York ever. Out of New York ever? Yep. Alright, cause New York is typically played pro or street ball I try to combine it so I gotta go with Kareem, Abdul,
Starting point is 02:18:04 I'm gonna go with Joe Hammond. He's called the Destroyer. He was incredible. He played against Dr. J and all his dudes. They know who he is. I'm going to go with Rafe Alston. Not just like, just his whole body of work.
Starting point is 02:18:21 His body of work is incredible. Then if I had to go with a couple more. Two more. It's so many Paulers, goddamn. Marbury, you could throw Marbury in that loop because of his body of work. You could throw Marbury in that loop. I mean, Dr. J is from Long Island, too. And he plays street ball.
Starting point is 02:18:44 He's a champion and an MVP, so. J is from Long Island too. And he plays street ball. He a champion and an MVP. So, yeah. Okay. I was looking for Lamar Odom, but it's all right. I mean, there's a lot of ballers. Lamar, you look at the body of Prima Cruz-Jabaz from New York. Yeah, yeah, for sure, for sure, for sure. Now, I respect you a lot.
Starting point is 02:19:00 Pee-bee Kirkland. Pee-bee Kirkland was pretty solid, man. He was nice. Earl, you know what I mean? You heard of Booker Smith? Huh? Probably heard of Booker Smith back in the days. Booker was nice. Booker Smith, man. Soul of the hole. You heard of Soul of the Hole? That was his territory. He was nice. So many great ballers. Ali Mo was incredible. Ali Mo was 60. Point guard. I played against Ali Mo. I'd seen it. He was like 68'8", wrapping around
Starting point is 02:19:25 behind the back passes for full court, like right on target. He is nice. So let's shift back to your time in LA, but I want to go prior to that too. Remember that 2009 playoff series, Rockets, Lakers, you and Kobe kind of got into it. I think he might have elbowed you in the third one point, you all got into each other's faces. So for you, what was it like playing against Kobe and then playing, being on teammate with him and being able to win the championship? It was great, man.
Starting point is 02:19:48 It was two stints, one when he was trying to win, then when I was with Nick, he was pretty much out. He was hurt and he was having fun. But playing against him, it was tough, man. I tried my hardest, you know, and he would just go to work. Maybe I did have some success sometimes, but I would say like LeBron 75% of the time he got me Kobe, I would say like 60%, maybe 70% of the time that I played against Kobe. Like, you know, he just went to work.
Starting point is 02:20:17 It was, it was, he wasn't that quick, but he could shoot. He was quick enough. He was, he was strong enough. So it was hard. It was hard to stop it. You know, and he can shoot from... If you pick him at the 3-point line, even back then, he had stepped 2 feet beyond the 3-point. Now you get up on him, he got just enough moves
Starting point is 02:20:36 to go to work on your ass, right? So it was difficult. And then when I played with him, I mean, he didn't guard me much also. I was a little heavier than Kobe. And then when I played with him, I mean, he didn't guard me much also. I was a little heavier than Kobe. But when I played with him, it was incredible. I remember I thought I was the hardest worker on my team.
Starting point is 02:20:52 I always try to outwork everybody. When I got with Kobe in 2009, 2010, I was like, wow. He would be in the gym at 6 a.m., like serious. Actually there at 5.30, because he's starting at 6. So then he's showered up in the car by 8.15, like out, done. You know, so that was, and I was like, wow, I understood. I understood. And he was a leader.
Starting point is 02:21:19 He was a leader by example. Because he was, you know, you don't cope. He's going to say something to turn you off. He's not going to be nice about it. Fischer was the guy to be like, hey, talk you through it. This is what he meant. Yeah. I know he said, fuck you motherfuckers.
Starting point is 02:21:33 But he didn't really mean, fuck you motherfuckers. Yeah. I think that was the difference between like, probably like him and Shaq. Shaq knew how to speak to you. Yeah. Kobe like showed you and then somebody had to buffer that and that was usually Derek Fisher. Like hold on, hold on, hold on.
Starting point is 02:21:51 You ain't got to leave. He just said that. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. He said that. Yeah, yeah, yeah. He just, you know. He hates everybody. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 02:21:59 That's just his personality. But he want to see you tomorrow. Show up. Yeah, yeah, show up. Show up. So we just watched a game seven with the Pacers and the Thunder. You were part of game seven 2010, like I mentioned, winning a chip with the Lakers against the Celtics.
Starting point is 02:22:15 You played the most minutes in that game, 46 minutes for the Lakers. You had 20 points, five rebounds, five steals. Hit a big three with a minute remaining after Kobe actually passed you the ball to help Silver win for that squad. But what are your favorite memories from that game 7 in your championship season with the Lakers? Well you know you never you just never know what to expect for Kobe honestly so you just like just got to be ready and you're gonna either get two
Starting point is 02:22:37 shots or you might get to you don't know you know and you know when you're not when you're a volume shooter if you take shots you know out rhythm, you go 2 for 10. It was games that was 2 for 9, like 1 for 13, but I just don't know. And the fans are like, don't shoot, don't shoot. I'm like, well, I have to shoot because it's a rhythm shot. So I just tried to stay in rhythm. I think from that game, I mean, we were down 13 in the third quarter. And if it wasn't for Fisher, I don't know if he'd win that game.
Starting point is 02:23:05 So this is my only finals. I've never been to the finals. So I'm like, damn, down 13 in the fourth. Like, okay, so what happens now? Or Fischer comes to the bench. He saw our faces, like, he was like, damn. He saw it. He said, yo.
Starting point is 02:23:21 He said, you could be anywhere, but we here down 13. You know, we're here down 13, where would you rather be? It was probably a couple other things. And everybody looking at Fisher because he demands that respect. And that just, right from there, we just stayed locked in, didn't look at the score, and they kept getting tired. And then I looked on the tape, which is, I looked on the tape and Phil Jackson was like,
Starting point is 02:23:49 I think he said, here, Doc, give it away. Did you see that? He said, here, give it away in the fourth. I was like, damn, I was like. Give it away in the fourth, that's fucked up. I missed that, I didn't even hear that until I watched the tape. They for sure gave it to us.
Starting point is 02:24:04 But honestly, I think if Perk was there It might have been a different game Yeah, maybe we still win maybe we still win but you know, it might have been a different game For sure for sure so I'm not saying he's the yeah,, I heard him say something about OKC. He's like the, I ain't saying he's the reason OKC was this and that. I heard that. I heard Perk say that, but he was definitely just like.
Starting point is 02:24:34 Yeah, man, man, it shifts his like. He did everything the right way. You got him, KG, like it becomes a different lineup. It was a different lineup, man. It was a different lineup. They beat us at home. So during a recent episode of his Mind, the game podcast, LeBron, I gave some major love saying you were one of the toughest defenders that he
Starting point is 02:24:49 faced, especially early on in his career coming into league. So for you, what was it like guarding LeBron and how did his game improve and evolve over the years? I know I was a member at 15 years old in Chicago. He was there. Like Jordan was there. Barkley was a little older. He was just getting in shape, but Jordan was going to work. Michael Finley was there. Stackhouse was there like Jordan was there Barclay was a little older He was just getting in shape, but Jordan was going to work Michael family was there stack house was there Anton Walker was in his prime in 2019 or 2000. He was in his prime So I see the brown walk to the gym everybody's talking about LeBron. I think he was on TV by this time also So I seen I didn't play gets him his first game, but I watched him. I'm like, dang
Starting point is 02:25:23 15 16 15 16. I think he was there two years in a row. I'm not mistaken. Um, then I went up against him And he was on a fast brick Come to full speed just like you do now And I was like, I don't know how I'm gonna stop him like he's coming full speed and He was he was like 225 at this time So as I tried to grab him, he was still going up, so I put him on the floor. Right, so I put him on the floor, and I was like, wow.
Starting point is 02:25:53 That was at 15. He was already ready. You know what I'm saying? Like if I didn't put him on the floor, he was going right through it. You know what I mean? And then playing against him first game, he had 25 against me. 25 points. And that was when I was in like, nobody was getting that much. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 02:26:15 Not in my prime. And I was like, yo, this dude is the real deal. So I always gave it up to him. But when I played against him, I tried to compete. And then I remember him, he gave me 25, and he was like, is this your best defender? He said that to the crowd in Indiana. And I was heated, like I was so heated.
Starting point is 02:26:31 You know what I'm saying? Like, this in my head, I'm like. Yeah, that's funny. He just want to lock him up right now. Lace him up, motherfucker, I'm gonna show you. But he, I had a couple good games against Lebron where I maybe got the best of him but not many. Not many. You body slammed me when I was in Golden State.
Starting point is 02:26:54 No I didn't. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It was going for a loose ball and you body slammed me. I had to ask, what the fuck kind of basketball is this? Like something should have changed. I had to ask, what the fuck kind of basketball is this? What is this? Like something you should have checked. Hey man, something you should have checked.
Starting point is 02:27:08 Fuck off, man. I love it. I remember your rookie year. Your rookie year, you punched my shit. And you was like, I got that shit. I remember that shit. I remember that shit, I was like, I punched my shit. You're like, I got that shit.
Starting point is 02:27:18 Talk this shit, run it the other way. Now you put in work, dog, man. If you didn't get hurt, you was putting in work dog man if you didn't get hurt girl you you you was putting in work how was that 60 in a in a in a staple cylinder it was fun I might ask you that before we live no no no no it was um he he was at a disadvantage right it's always like like, so me and, we used to talk shit, right? You don't?
Starting point is 02:27:49 No, no, no, no. Me and Luke Walton. Oh. And Luke Walton, Kobe used to tell Luke Walton, hey, tell him I'm bust his ass. And if he guard me, tell him I'm going one four flat. That used to be like a little thing, right? Tell him I'm going one four flat.
Starting point is 02:28:02 Right, so you know, just a typical day. Right. So I'm going for a flat. Right. So, you know, just a typical day. And then I started catching heat with the smush. Right. So smush was getting earlier than Kobe's like, I got him. And I was all right. Whatever play we call it, one for flat. Right. But I'm already kind of like ticking. But the problem is he don't have Shaq back there no more. You got Mike. You got Lamar. You got Kw Shaq back there no more. You got Mike. You got Lamar. You got Kwame Brown back there.
Starting point is 02:28:28 Bill Data! What am I saying? I guarded him, he was on my team. Like he ain't fouling like that. No, I'm just saying like you don't have Shaq that's gonna foul the shit out of you when you do all that shit. You don't have the structure back there.
Starting point is 02:28:43 So all I know is the rule with him is don't try to do the same move twice. Right? He gonna pick up with the mechanics. So if I'm gonna do something like if I do right to left this game, right? I know left to right next time. So I already knew that style like okay I got it. So if you look at the moves all every how I'm scoring is all different then from there is just keep attacking. Yeah, he thinks that all right if I'm on is all different. Then from there, just keep attacking. Because he thinks that, all right, if I'm on this side, he's going to push me down.
Starting point is 02:29:09 Like, he's playing the structure of the defense, right? Yo, them niggas in the back don't know this. They're not smart enough to know if I go past the free throw line, you got to push me down. They got to load over. They don't know that. So all I'm doing is just sitting there waiting. He jump up gone
Starting point is 02:29:26 Hey, that was a Vladimir back there. What the fuck is name? It was one of those things is I know your team ain't that smart this way So all I did just got to just keep shooting and I'm allowed the bad when you bow Was that when you start in or was you like? And the bow, when you bow, were you stunting or were you like out? No, no, no. I fought. I had a hundred and twenty-five tickets. Oh, oh, okay, okay.
Starting point is 02:29:51 So then half my high school- Oh, they were there. You bowed for nothing. So every time that I came to LA, it was like everybody. It was more because when I was a rookie, we wasn't allowed allowed rookie or second round. I wasn't allowed tickets at home or on the road Right. So it was one of those things is a rook giving them tickets. Well, first of all, I don't know nobody So yeah, but the only ones I demanded was
Starting point is 02:30:18 In LA and you've got to keep out to them my two in those first couple years I'd have no money to buy an extra. So when I signed that deal everybody get to come to the game so I had about a hundred some people there. That's what I was bound to. That's fire. That's fire. There was all LA Laker fans growing up so this was, you know, they all got on their
Starting point is 02:30:40 Laker gear so it was, you know. So I want to talk about something that happened recently. This is for the whole couch, so your former Rockets teammate Tracey McGrady was on first take this past Friday along with our very own Gilbert Arenas, participating in a discussion about ring culture where he offered these thoughts. We have too many talented players that come through this league that are championship worthy.
Starting point is 02:31:01 What I mean by that, if you put them, if you take them off a team that is a championship quality team, replace me with Colby with Shaq. I don't win a championship. You don't think I could carry the Lakers to a championship? Like I've never had the opportunity. I felt like if I was put in that position to win a championship, I damn sure would show up and do what I do in the playoffs to elevate my team to that level. I just damn sure would show up and do what I do in the playoffs to elevate my team to that level. I just never had the chance.
Starting point is 02:31:28 So do I get diminished because I never won a championship? Right. Yeah, that's what we're talking about. That's what we're talking about. My fault. Right. I was never put in that position. So question for this coach, do you agree with T Mac saying he would have won a ring if he played with the Prime Shack?
Starting point is 02:31:51 So I would have to Love to have replaced their official Sinister boss man When I went when we got the number two Win a ring as a number two option. Oh no, I don't know what you're talking about. We all was number two options. Okay, no, that's what I'm saying. The whole league, that's what makes it stupid to argue.
Starting point is 02:32:15 The whole league was number two options. If Duncan would have went there, number two. If KG was there, everybody was number two. You see his stats? Number two. You didn't get out the first round. If Duncan, Duncan would have been in the ring in 2000. True.
Starting point is 02:32:30 Number two. Everybody was the number two option. I got one before Shaq. I got one before Shaq. Yes, everybody. He was like, he was the only player that you, when we're talking about guarding him, you're putting three to four people. Like it was, if you didn't dig down
Starting point is 02:32:45 on the first dribble, the person that's guarding him was pissed off. Like come on dawg, this is what we not, come on. You know the game plan. His first dribble, hard dig. Would he be available? Who? Tracee McGrady. He was injury. So would he be available? Not early, not at that point in this, man. We're talking about 2000, 2001, 2002. So he's saying- He averaged 32. He's saying what year... The Orlando.
Starting point is 02:33:08 The Orlando... He's talking about the Orlando. The Orlando T-Mac. The Orlando T-Mac. That T-Mac was crazy. I don't know. I don't think the Orlando T-Mac... He's saying if he took the Orlando T-Mac,
Starting point is 02:33:20 that averaged 32 and that, and you replace him and put him with Kobe, he's the same person. Yeah, it was a point in time with T-Mac. That's what you talking about that? He's talking about that in that time. It was a point in time with T-Mac was like we were saying it was like a point in time where everybody was like oh who's better. It was a point in time like for two or three years. That was the conversation. Never got the first round. He's not 22 and win the championship. That's what he's saying. I don't know. Kobe was having 28, 20. Yeah, 20. The first year he had his 22, but what he's saying,
Starting point is 02:34:06 if you just put me in there and I'm doing what I'm doing, I'm in the second option and I'm playing my role, shit, we can win a championship. What makes me not win a championship? You know, Shaq also... He's not saying he's gonna be there and do this. He's just saying, you put me there. Everybody's saying the same shit.
Starting point is 02:34:21 If you sub me with motherfucking Derek Fisher, nigga, I could win the championship. We don't know that. Yeah, we do. We don't know chemistry, we don't know that. God damn. We don't know that. We don't know that.
Starting point is 02:34:30 Y'all just arguing, you were just arguing. The nigga got the one thing to work. Niggas win, yeah. You just want to put people next to you. Were you in the league? Were you in the league? God damn. Since y'all wasn't in the league,
Starting point is 02:34:40 were you in the league then? Do you think the Orlando, the nigga that wanted Scorn Time, if you replaced him with Kobe, does he have a chance win championship? I mean, um under that scenario probably okay, Kenyan. Oh, yes Okay, the people that you also said yourself in that same I'm saying Like Kobe, but but you know Shaq chose The golden look delicious I'm saying, and that- Your work ethic ain't like Kobe. I don't do that. But you know Shaq chose- He had shit to do with it. He chose to go to the Lakers.
Starting point is 02:35:06 Has a lot to do with it. He chose Kobe. He's 20 on that team. That's a dust. 28 and a half. Yeah, it is when you got a motherfucker having 35 and a father's more than enough. 38, one year, two.
Starting point is 02:35:16 More than enough for a father. Kobe, you don't ever put Kobe into making the same- They did! They did. Well, no, well, no. Only for a couple years. Hold on, hold on.
Starting point is 02:35:24 I said it was strong. Hold on, hold on. It was like done. Well done. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on.
Starting point is 02:35:28 Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on.
Starting point is 02:35:32 Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on.
Starting point is 02:35:36 Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on.
Starting point is 02:35:40 Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on.
Starting point is 02:35:44 Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on so hold on benefit of who hold on them. You wasn't there You wasn't there. Hey, I said I said y'all said I was stupid. Can you say exactly again? You was in middle school. You was in middle school. You was in high school for the 12th time. So we don't want to hear metal. That's not true. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. Metal. Metal, can you tell me. Can you tell me exactly when Kobe had three rings and T-Mac was doing what T-Mac was doing? What were we saying again? In that era, it was about three years where everybody was saying they didn't know who
Starting point is 02:36:37 was better. Three rings, they didn't know who was better. It was just not the one time. They act like I was not there and I was not in the locker room and y'all would argue with the niggas that was there It came it can't be a fact if you don't get out the first round do shit I'm not necessarily comparing them cuz I how I felt at that time. I felt what we might have had the edge personally I'm gonna 82 person. I might have felt cold had the edge but everybody was saying Personally, it has nothing to do with what you say everybody. Yeah, I felt a person I feel like maybe Kobe had the edge, but everybody was saying like yo T Mac is nice. That's what people were saying Nobody said that we're telling you what
Starting point is 02:37:44 No This is not Cochran 2016. We're talking about what was being said in real time in 2002. We're talking about 2002, what was being actually said, dawg. That nigga was average at 29, he was third in the league in school. Who? You. This nigga was averaging 32 a game scoring, nigga getting triple T. Nobody in the league was guarding team That's what the conversation was There was a reason Kobe was Listen you think this will always think y'all right? We were there! I don't have to agree with you!
Starting point is 02:38:26 I don't have to agree with you! I don't have to agree! Just because I don't agree with you, it don't mean a thing! No you are wrong! We're there! We're game play! I don't agree with you motherfuckers! You're not right!
Starting point is 02:38:42 Shut the fuck up! Let's take it on my nerves. How about that? Thank you. 2002. From 2002. Thank you. Thank you. You niggas on app, you're not right.
Starting point is 02:38:51 Let's go. We're not right and we were there. We're game planning. We're talking. We're guarding these two men. We're not right. I know. He bust your ass.
Starting point is 02:38:59 Now you tell us what was being said. How about this? What was being said in 2002 then? Since we're wrong, tell us what was being said in 2002. We're not right. We're not right. We're not right. We're not right. We're not right. We're not right. I know he busts Being said in 2002 then hey, this will roll tell us what was being said in 2002. I don't know Can't give me an answer in and I asked you a fucking question. Then shut the fuck up talking about it. I'm asking you a question.
Starting point is 02:39:27 In 2002, can you tell us what was being said? Parade, at the parade. I hate you niggas that got opinions. And then you don't have an educated fucking answer. I didn't hear T-Mac and Kobe. I heard Kobe at the parade. I'm asking you an educated question. I need a T-Mac with a big Kobe.
Starting point is 02:39:47 An educated fucking question like a fucking damn. In 2002 when we had three rings, can you tell me with your educated self what was being said about T-Mac and Kobe? Since we're wrong, what was being said? I just heard Kobe. You ain't even got that hard heard. Nobody was talking about a nigga that low.
Starting point is 02:40:08 It was always niggas that won, Kobe or Shaq. Who was better? So that's what you heard in middle school. Kobe and Shaq win the championship in middle school. Now what did you hear in 2002 as a professional basketball player playing against Kobe and TMAC. Let's hear what you, because we know what y'all heard in middle school
Starting point is 02:40:27 from the LA media. It was definitely harder to guard Kobe personally. But collectively, I mean, it was games where TMAC would go to work too, but when I was guarding, TMAC versus Kobe is a different player. You know, I mean, they had similar moves, like they both could spin right, they could fade right,
Starting point is 02:40:44 they could fade left but but collectively what people were saying it was an error in point in time where nobody actually nobody nobody really knew at that point in time and one had three I'm not saying that I just don't know. Emotional. No, no, no. We just telling you what we're being talked about. This nigga was offended what was being talked about in 2000. I probably had a hard time with Kogan. I probably had a hard time with Kogan.
Starting point is 02:41:16 Y'all were like y'all were playing with legos too. All I seen was sweet. These niggas were playing with their mom. These niggas were playing with their mom. But All I've seen was Sweets. These niggas playing with their moms. They can't even stand this. But Shaq chose... Get these shits out of here.
Starting point is 02:41:32 They don't have no idea and you want to continue to have this conversation. Could it be that Shaq went to... You're right. Shaq went to somewhere T-Mac was at if he wanted to. Because Shaq chose to go to LA. And then he's trying to win titles. So could he have gone? I wonder if he could have gone where T-Mac was in Toronto at the time, right? because Shaq chose to go to LA and then he's trying to win titles. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:41:46 So could he have gone? I wonder if he could have gone where. T-Back was in Toronto at the time, right? No, T-... Where was T-Back? Go on. No, T-Back was in Orlando. No, no, he wasn't in Toronto. He was in Toronto. He was in Toronto.
Starting point is 02:41:56 Maybe he's not going to go to Toronto. Okay, you're 2009, the 2009 team, right? The 10. Team 2010. No, nine Rockets or 10? The Rockets? Yeah, eight, nine. Eight, nine? The 10. 2010. Oh, no, nine Rockets or 10 Rockets? But the Rockets? Yeah, eight, nine, eight, nine. Eight, nine.
Starting point is 02:42:08 That team was crazy. Did y'all have, like, starting off the season, did y'all feel y'all had a chance to win? That team was crazy. That was the deepest team I've been on. Well, when you look at that team, listen, I got there, I was playing five minutes, you know when you get to a team
Starting point is 02:42:21 and they say you're gonna play and you don't? And you're like, damn, I'm in my prime. I'm 28 and I'm not playing. I'm playing five minutes a game. I'm like, oh my God, it was difficult, right? So I'm like, one day, one time Coach Allen, who I love, put me in the game. It was like, I don't know, 30 seconds, like a minute. Because Shane was there.
Starting point is 02:42:41 They already had chemistry. They just won 33 in a row last year. They add me and just got a I'm just a piece at this point because you know, you know, so Then team that got hurt And Brooks was there actually grateful was there and I think Aaron came no Kyle. Larry came out already came Yeah, we got Aaron Brooks Cola. You'll have hook man. Oh, that's nice. That team was sick, yo So the injuries kind of fucked that team off. Yeah, I mean we Brooks, Scola, that hook, man. That team was sick, yo. So the injuries kind of fucked that team off. Yeah, I mean, we took Lakers to seven with no T-Mac. Yow broke his foot game three.
Starting point is 02:43:15 And Dikembe broke his knee. And he was 43, but keep in mind, Dikembe was averaging 10 and 10 against the Portland Trail Blazers. We was a 6 seed. He was a 3C. Dikembe was blocking everything at the rim. You got 43, anything coming to the rim. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 02:43:32 You gotta look at those highlights. He was hurt? Yes, he was hurt in some games. Oh, T-Mac didn't play. That's why you made it to pass the first round. T-Mac didn't play past. T-Mac and yeah. When T-Mac got hurt, I started,
Starting point is 02:43:44 that's when I started playing. Yeah, and team that got hurt. That was his best team that could have won a championship. That seems that's all kind of want to championship. If he wasn't hurt that team would have won maybe so I got one last question for you. I think it will unite the cow. Some we can all agree upon.
Starting point is 02:43:57 So back early 2000s, you're one of a handful of players to promote with some thought would be a revolutionary product for the game of basketball the D band You got Jamal Crawford yourself Eddie curry stack was involved in it as well So I want to know how bad how did you get signed on to be one of the faces of the D band? Were you actually rocking with it? Like how did they convince you to take that photo? I'll tell you how. This is, all right so you know when you get into league, well in our era, he wasn't getting paid like this ever. So they give you five grand, you just getting out of, you just fresh out of South
Starting point is 02:44:39 Central or Compton, wherever you, you know what I mean, and you get, even though you're making a mill or whatever you're making, you know, in your contract, when somebody, you know what I mean? And you get, even though you're making a mill or whatever you're making in your contract, when somebody offer you five grand, right? You're like, damn, I got another five grand in my pocket. So you take the five grand for anything and you don't really have a strategy in terms of your manager, what's your strategy? You know what I mean?
Starting point is 02:45:00 Like Jordan, it was Jordan. You know, it was rapping, it was this, it was too much, right? So this is lack of good management, man. That's what this is. But how, man? Look how many people are locked in the deep end. Well, shout out to the founders and owners who tried their hardest.
Starting point is 02:45:17 But I mean, they said the sweat, they said it was gonna keep the sweat coming from your, from dripping. So they said, this part's gonna absorb the sweat. I'm like, oh, this is dope, it's gonna absorb the sweat coming from your feet right from dripping so they say this part's gonna absorb the sweat I'm like oh this is dope it's gonna absorb the sweat you know it's a funny thing people still bring this up look we on Gill Arena. Cause it's the D-band. The D-band? I wore it a couple times man. It it allow you to wear it in the game? Couple times I wore the D-band. The D-band let you do it? So get up.
Starting point is 02:45:50 Were you on the team with Lynn Johnson? He look like he mad. Look at Jamal's face. Jamal's like what the? You remember him? Okay. Dallas. You used to mess with.
Starting point is 02:46:05 The center. Oh, fat now, he big as hell. Oh, he's a wrestler. Yeah, yeah. So, you know, what's up? Fuck. John Ramos. Yeah, John Ramos, party wrestler.
Starting point is 02:46:14 Hey look, so, Lynn Johnson, funny shit. So, all of y'all know, he got like 1% body fat. So, after a game, so he's all shredded, right? So, after a game. So, he always go get his food, right? Go from Whole Foods, you know, eating grapes and lettuce and shit. So after the game, he got in, had to play. So we go to the locker room, he in there spazzing.
Starting point is 02:46:37 Oh, screaming. What the fuck up, man? Screaming, dog. The shot, I'm looking at, I said, shit. That's what happens when you eat dead rabbit food. You're gonna start putting some meat in your body for... I said, man, you eat that shit, man. You're on a plane eating meat.
Starting point is 02:46:56 Yeah, he was cramping everywhere. He was cramping on that plane. He just cramped. Yo, every piece, everything was just cr crimp just lumped everywhere like, ah. He ain't got no body fat, that shit be like, I ain't 3 1 half percent, I used to cramp up like shit. He cramping like shit, never seen lobster, oh I'm good. Yeah, you sweat, you get the sweat,
Starting point is 02:47:13 don't hold no, listen, cramp up during the game, IVs at halftime, all kinds of shit, bruh. Not eating like no protein. Just not, like you ain't got no protein. You ain't got no protein. You ain't got no body fat. You ain't got no body fat. Once you start sweating, look at that shit. You get that shit get tight. Hey, what you put that leg?
Starting point is 02:47:34 Cramp Nick head toes everything This man is playing with calf sleeves on some time Shit they're gonna do that. I got a cut the motherfuck there, nigga? I'm, shit, shit, nigga, on two. I gotta cut them motherfuckers off because I'm about to cramp up out that bitch. Damn. Muscles gotta breathe. They ain't breathing.
Starting point is 02:47:53 There ain't no oxygen whatsoever. Like imagine, just imagine you in there just cramping up in the motherfucker. Yeah, man. Yeah, but you know what? Pretty stupid. Man. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 02:48:08 Shout out to the D-Band and shout out to Metal World Peace pulling up to Gil's arena. We appreciate you taking time out of your schedule. That's right, man. Thank you.
