They got to.
Forcing the submissions.

They got to regroup, put everybody on waivers.
It's a cold game, but joined by the legend Gilbert Arenas as always.
We got Brandon Jennings here with the LA Gears.

Hachimora. Shout out follow through for the shirt.
But here's what's cooking today. Ice Cube
built up successful black-owned business with
the Big Three, but should his league get
more love from the NBA? Dr.
J isn't a fan of super teams,
but are they really bad for the league?
And last but not least, in light of the Crawford Spence fight,
we're talking about the worst ass whoopings ever.
Y'all seen it?
You was there.
I'm still representing, though.
Okay.
We don't deviate, man.
We're still from Dallas, man.
It was a bad night, but we don't deviate.
We all take it.
That's what we're going to talk about.
It was a bad one.

I did not.
World Cup been kicking my ass.
WNBA been kicking my ass.
Sabrina Inescu, I need a six assist.
You got five.
Man.
I guess you don't watch.
And then I said like 22 points under.
All my others were higher than his.
Even I heard you say that.
Yeah, 10 rebounds under that.
That's not her fault.
They got to finish.
And as always, we do our mostly fan segment at the end of the show.
So go ahead and drop a good question in the chat.

I was looking yesterday.
We were like top six, top five on the podcast front, too.
Oh, yeah.
We're making our rounds.
We're coming for all of you.
We're making our rounds.
As Brandon liked to say, count your days.
Count your days.
If you ain't got us number one, count them.
Count them.
Shout out Complex.
Four, we disagree, but that's all.
I mean, four was really one, right?
Yeah.
I mean, two players is active still.
JJ's on ESPN and doing all that stuff, so, you know, I mean, you know two players is active still mmm JJ's on ESPN and doing all that stuff
So, you know
technically
Number one retired black player podcast in the game black rainbow white, you know, we good
So, let's talk a little bit about the Crawford's best fight obviously, you know, there's no disrespect to Dallas
I'm always all love and stuff but Bud Crawford Spence fight obviously, you know, no disrespect to Dallas always all love
It's tough, but Bud Crawford was in a zone on Saturday night
He beat the brakes off Earl Spence to become the first undisputed welterweight champion for decades
Crawford approved a 40 and 0 gave Spence his first loss of his career now, you know, this is YouTube
So we can't show footage of the fight but Ketiff on stage gave us an accurate depiction
Of what Spence looked like. If we got that.
Captain Martin.
Yeah.
Damn, Gina.
I don't want to fight no more.
I don't want to fight no more.
Like, where did he get that from?
Crawford even took time during the fight to tell Jermell Charlo that he was going to be next.
I don't know if y'all saw that.
But that's tough.
You whoop somebody's ass and then you have to look in the crowd.
But they've been beefing, though.
You were next.
They've been beefing
because they're in the same camp.
You know what I'm saying?
Spence and Charlo Boyd
all are in the same camp.
So they've been beefing.
And it's all love for Spence,
yo.
Immaculate career.
He's going to bounce back.
Do you think
you want to see the rematch?
Nah, man.
I'm just being honest. If it would have been a knockout, yeah, it was just, I'm saying'm just being honest.
If it would have been a knockout, yeah, it was just a punch.
Just a beat down.
If they don't fight at 154, I don't want to see it at all.
Okay.
If they fight at 154, maybe.
Okay.
You know what I'm saying?
But not right now.
Okay.
You know what I'm saying?
It's just, yeah, I just like Bud.
I've watched Terrence Crawford fight a lot watch a hero fight a lot
like buzz showed me like that his
him moving up his power translates and
Because before he fought air. I'm like you fought some guys. It wasn't like that
But the way he like that display he put on my I was sitting watching the WKJ. I'm like yo
This is bad, bro. Like watching it. Like I'm like I'm telling why it's going on like yo, this is bad
And I didn't know what was because you can see all the blood on his face
but I didn't know what exactly was bleeding you just see it just
I'm looking my yo, I'm like yo his nose just can't looking, I'm like yo, I'm like yo, his nose just can't get, it just, I'm like yo, man.
I'm like, and then it was a lot of furs,
furs knocked down of his career.
Man, they never been knocked down.
That's the thing, you know what I'm saying?
Like it's, like it was bad on all accounts.
And I lost $1,500, so.
That's even worse.
That's even worse.
Hey, but you know like, you know,
when you see it just get whooped, you're like, ah, fuck it,
all right.
You'd rather live the dark way versus having hope.
Yeah.
No, I would have rather, if it would have went 12 and it would have been unanimous decision
in that regard, I would have wanted to see it again.
I'm saying, but if it would have been more competitive on Errol's part, then it would
still came out, Okay, but was better
Yeah, let me see that again. I'm saying but not the way that transpired. I didn't like the way he looked his body
He just may have to lose a lot of weight man for that fight and send me a walk around 175 pounds regular
You know, that's a lot of weight. So he so he where he so he walks around 175 like daily
What he has to 147 for his lose 30 pounds. Yeah, I'm saying lost a lot of power. Yeah
Yeah, I walk around and then turns Crawford like he didn't can you start at 130
135 140 140 so
His power translated and then so if he is a hundred and fifty pounds
155 like he not naturally arrow just naturally a bigger guy. I'm saying that's what he walk around So he found out to lose that kind of weight
Said like it just look why do fighters loot?
I would never want to lose weight to go down to fight somebody you take you take you know
You take away everything that I... Been fighting at that weight.
It's like seeing Mike Tyson drop down to, you know, 190.
Yeah, like, what the fuck?
You lose everything.
Yeah, nah, it's just what he's been fighting at.
He's been fighting at 147.
140?
He's been fighting at 147.
You know what I'm saying?
That's what he's been fighting at.
So that's...
147 is small.
Yeah, he should have been moved up.
Rashad McCann's not with us today.
He'll be back soon,
but he's already in the Gills Arena group chat.
He said, Ken, you better be glad I wasn't on today.
Texas boy got whooped, LOL.
Yeah, we all agree.
Shit.
It's not a dispute.
You act like I'm here saying, no, he won.
Like, no.
Got an ass whooped.
That's why you're an honorable man, though.
That's why we like you on the couch.
I know what my eyes saw.
You know what I'm saying?
I know what these two saw live.
Listen, man, this is bad, man.
So this brings up a bigger topic.
We all done took L's at some point in our life.
So it's time for a little group therapy.
So, girl, I'll start with you.
What's the worst ass-whooping you got in life?
Like, physically?
Physical ass-whooping.
Or mentally, too.
It counts.
Sixth grade.
I was making fun of this eighth grader.
And she whooped my ass at the last minute.
Hey, yo, She whooped my...
It was usually...
You know how back in the cafeteria,
you can sit on the...
Was it a desk or whatever that shit was?
So I'm sitting up there just talking shit.
And she ran full speed,
pushed me off of her, so hit the back
floor. I was done after that, and then she just
laid hands.
You just took it?
Oh, no. I was trying to fight back. Nah, hands. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You just took it. Oh, no, I was trying to
fight back. Nah, she was stronger,
bigger, faster. Brandon, how about
yourself? More athletic. Like a fight?
Like a fight? Like boom, boom, boom?
Ass whooping? It could be mental too. Nah, no.
I think the biggest ass whooping is from my mom
or like grandma.
Like that's the, I think that's the biggest
ass whooping ever was when I had to go get a hanger.
Oh my God. Like back in the day. But that's, I mean, I think that's the biggest ass-whooping ever, was when I had to go get a hanger. Mm!
Ah!
Like, back in the day.
But that's... I mean, I think that's about it to me.
So you never got in a fight before?
I mean, I got in a fight, but I ain't got my ass whooped.
Like, ain't nobody just beat my ass.
K, I got a feeling I know what you gonna say.
No, I ain't.
Undefeated.
No, no, no, no, no, no, no.
I had a lot of fights, man.
Like...
Did anyone ever get the best of you? Yeah, I fought the same dude in sixth grade like almost every day
See like he was like the seventh grade they just catch like so where they catch the school bus that was
By my elementary school. So he was a little and I was digging everybody. So I guess he felt the need
All right, so used to fight every day.
And they used to have to go give me some Starks,
and then the Starks would have to break it up.
But then the first lesson,
like the first real lesson I learned about
knew him in my eye.
We used to end up talking and he,
baya!
I couldn't see it,
and that was from that moment on,
that's why I don't talk before fights. We're gonna get to it
We're gonna get to it. I
Learned a valuable lesson
Get you hit, you know I'm saying so yeah, they got me hitting I'm trying to any steady swinging and I don't know where he
Had just I figured boom boom and I'm
Yeah, okay enough
Now let's go. I'm saying but now it was one of them, but I used to fight a lot as a kid man
How did that sixth grade situation in did you ever just come to a meeting?
No, we just didn't see each other no more. Have y'all seen each other since is it fade on site? No, no
Okay, before you
And I am not fighting so beef is eternal
Yeah, no, I'm not fighting nobody. Self-beef is eternal. Yeah, no, you got to do something to my mom or my kids now.
You got to put your hands on me now for me to go there.
I'm not even going to lie.
If I see your girl again, nah, nah, nah, nah, we got to handle this.
But what did she do?
It's like, I'm going to get you suckers.
She pushed me off.
I'm sitting on top.
I'm not sitting in a chair.
I'm sitting on the desk part where we eat our food
She pushed me off that and I think that's a long drop
Getting your ass whooped though. That's not
She came on she started whooping my ass. Yes, she ground and pounded my UFC
She got on like the UFC. I weighed probably
60 some pounds
Yeah, nah, she beat the hell out of me. So I had to I miss school for like two weeks. I was scared to go back
To go back but today
She probably got like seven kids man
I
Kids up the's ass too. Yeah, man. I got something. Claim that ass whooping.
Claim it on your resume so I can see who you is.
So it's a basketball show.
We got to keep it basketball centric.
Some of the fans have been on Twitter complaining.
So what's the worst ass whooping you got on the basketball court?
Like in the fight?
No, just ass whooping on the court.
Just like somebody just.
Like Tim just came in and busted your ass.
No, just hearing Peyton's.
Yeah, that like 18 points like, four, five minutes.
That was, yeah.
Still?
So, like, that welcome to the league moment?
Yeah.
It was that.
It was all.
Put it like this.
I was happy to get subbed out.
I ran over there.
Or team ass-whooping.
Like, one of them.
Like, one of them, y'all just like, dang.
It was Gary.
Just individually?
Just individually.
Oh, Lord.
No matter what he tried to do, he scored.
What did he tell you shit if I was?
This is what he actually said since we can use it.
He said, you lucky I ain't an AI type of nigga.
I would have had 50 on you at the halftime.
I'm sure you did.
And I just ran off the court.
Woo! Thank you, coach.
Coach, thank you. Good stuff. Good stuff, y'all.
Good stuff. Brandon, what's the worst
ass whoop you got on the court? Man, I would have to
man, my rookie year was tough. I would have
to go, Steve Nash.
He gave me a welcome.
I think you gave me a welcome
to the league moment. Remember in December
before the incident, right? before this, we were playing,
and you came up to me.
I was warming up, and I was with Calvin Sampson,
and we were asking about, like, what you do before the games.
And he was like, yeah.
He was like, I don't care what you do tonight.
You can't guard me, and your big is going to lay off,
and I'm going to score every time.
You remember that?
It was in December.
And Scott Skiles took me out early
and it was just one of them welcome like to the moment was like this thing really
just told me like what was gonna happen and it happened and I was just like man
I was like thank God he's done with the league like I thank God he's done but
yeah at the him and time and Chauncey Billups to Chauncey Billups in Denver
that year that rookie year.
It was straight to the post.
He was like, he came, he saw me.
He was like, yeah, yeah, come here.
Oh, yeah, we're going to drop it. Boom, boom, boom, two, and go sit down.
It was just like, damn.
Are we going to boom?
Are we going to run that?
I'm going to have a bitch in there.
Oh, look.
Yeah, yeah.
How do you feel when that's going on and you know there's nothing you can do to stop it?
Because it was really nothing.
It was like, who was at big at the time?
He was screening the fuck out. And Bogie just kept sitting back and you just kept going right by
Right by jumpers sitting it was just like no hard shows doing that. Okay
And then Steve Nash with a stoddermeyer and all them back there that pick and roll and they had Grant Hill still at the time
Like well, he would have like aiding eight eight in the first quarter
Just like them welcome to the like you ain't doing nothing tonight
Okay, how about so what's the worst ass whooping you took on a basketball court? Oh?
Yeah, I got something that this highlights out there I got something at MJ 40 year old work with the Wizards
Mm-hmm, you know, I'm eager this might I know he ain't that Mike with this might I'm pogo sticking like a month
He pumped faking hell out me stepping through jabbing guys. I'm like just all over the place
Yeah, you know, I think I like 40. Hey 40 year old Mike still talking shit. Absolutely. I had a nice brace
Oh, he felt he was gonna be a long night Damn. Was 40-year-old Mike still talking shit? Absolutely. I had a back brace on. He felt it.
He was like, oh, this is going to be a long night.
Oh, he told me.
I had a back brace on.
He felt like he was guarding another end.
He put his hand in my back and post up.
He felt like, what's this?
He told me, oh, this is going to be a long night.
Yeah.
Went dead at me.
Asked for the ball every time.
Dead at me.
Yo, how was that playing?
We had a home and home with Matt, with Tr trace McGrady. We had a home-and-home
He was in Orlando he scored 74 in two days
And the first four
We was playing the Clippers. I'm going to Eldon. I just like be on Elton shit
But whatever way this game like they ran like a drive across screen and you know I'm on top of it what he
just scoring like the first four possessions they call timeout like you
think we start doubling I'll never ask you know me I ain't max no double ever I
said shit if you don't he gonna have 50 I left it at that you make the decision
cuz I'm not going to ask for it
so we talked about the negative
now let's spin it to a positive what's the best
ass whooping you ever gave on a basketball court
I always gave the
Lakers a good ass whooping from my
first year
it's just something about like
32 I don't know if it was my second
year or my first year.
I always gave the Lakers that business.
So I'll say the Lakers.
Just my whole career.
Before the 60, I was averaging about 32 on them.
So 24.2 points per game in your career versus the Lakers.
Cap.
Y'all counting my rookie season?
Y'all can't cap my rookie season. Can we do it like they do in the Olympics, throw out the best and worst and then see what that average is?
Yeah, you throw out the best, oh, throw out the worst and you throw out the 60?
About 32 then.
For sure, for sure.
Bray, how much that was?
I mean, my 55.
That easy, I knew it was going to be three quarters.
That was on Steph, huh?
That was on the Warriors.
Steph.
That was on the Warriors.
Bray, you still young, but at this point in your life, you could put extras on shit.
I was all Steph at his peak.
I was hurt and gave Steph about 45.
When?
Hmm?
His rookie season.
I was hurt too.
Dragging the leg.
I feel like y'all made Steph into the man he is today though,
because he saw that.
Oh, no, he was getting buckets though.
He was killing it.
Him and Monte.
Yeah, I'm about to say, yeah, they had that right offense.
That was the right offense for them.
And how about yourself?
Them first four years with the Nets, every time we played the Knicks,
like, it was personal.
They used to sell out and we didn't.
We were number one in the conference and all that.
Man, I used to, man, I used to take that personal.
Like, yeah, and we got a chance to play them in the playoffs.
Mm-hm.
It was four games of hell for them.
We swept them two.
You know, I was in the talk.
Man, what?
I think game four, like 35, 36, 36 16 and like five six. Yeah, I
Close that game on a floor. I show my whole ass
The Knicks fans start chair for you
They like good basketball what who do you like going against
match Nash
We are talking to each other at all was it was no I just know he was scared
Not in a sense what cuz he was small
So because he was small like like I I did a lot of one down chin chin down
Chin drop drop up chin drop chin drop reverse. So everything I'm doing coming off Chin drop. I'm chin drop. Chin drop. Reverse.
So everything I'm doing, coming off the pounding.
So I'm just pounding.
So, you know.
You can't hide him.
No, you can't. You couldn't hide him.
Because you can't go guard Larry.
You know what I'm saying?
So you got to guard him.
So, you know, then it felt great to have an MVP, like, leaving me to have Rajah, Bill, or the Matrix
guard me.
Like, that just, like, no matter how,
you know, he gonna hit his 40. You know, I'm not gonna worry
about that. He gonna get his 40. Like, it's like
I'm the only one that made him try to score.
Like, you gonna have to try to score with me.
Like, you ain't gonna be trying to, you gonna get,
it's gonna get to the point where it's like, alright,
like, I ain't gonna just let this dude just come down here and try to
score every time. And I got to sit here pass the ball
So, you know Steve Nash is going you know, he was 40 37 like we putting up big numbers
But when he sub off me like yeah, I don't want and you play how many times you play against him during your career MJ
Maybe three what was that experience like for you? I gave that fucker 41.
He said you look like Randy Brown, right?
I think me and Antoine still hold the record for duo to score the most points against the Wizards.
Yeah, I did 41.
He had 39.
You know, Leia was there.
That's what got me paid they see what I did MJ
Who you guys um me I used I used to like to go against Darren Williams. Hmm. I don't know why I
Know no D will from Utah, Utah. Yeah
That double-cross yeah double-cross the mice much like my younger like him in my beginning like my younger to like Detroit
I used to have a good run against him because he was like a top point guard to me
So I used to like to like go against him
And give just for the record you were two and over George. So
You know cook Mike. I didn't care about the record saying never lost the engine
You average 32 points per game
against him.
Ha!
This thing couldn't stop me.
I'm the GOAT.
He taking that to the grave.
You should have told him that.
Only man undefeated
against MJ.
You should have told him that.
When you see kids wearing J's,
you got to tell them,
take them off.
Go ahead and put these
Agent Zero's on.
You're going to let the world know.
Agent Zero versus Mike?
Hey, I'm 32, huh? Jumpeded over the I jumped over the joy and brand
Let's keep this thing moving
We got to talk about an unfortunate event happened this weekend involving friend of the program your former teammate Nick young
What do you do we got there? do? You know what he did.
Do we got the video?
The tweet.
We don't have it.
He was wearing jean shorts.
Yeah.
Moment of silence.
So I can pull up to
SE practice rocking jean shorts.
He was hooping.
He was hooping in jean shorts?
He was hooping in jean shorts.
Oh, yeah.
Okay, I thought he...
See, I thought people
were not allowed to wear jean shorts?
Was he scoring?
See, I didn't see the...
I don't know if he was scoring,
but he was...
Hell no.
You don't think he was scoring?
Fuck no.
He had six clips
and not one was a bucket going in I
see
My you I mean you put six clips on your your Instagram at least one gonna be a bucket like oh yeah
I hit the shot you got a three three of them for sure
I thought three of them gonna be moves the other three gonna be bucket
Man, man old man washed, bro
Like you pee be washed, bro. We have our Swaggy P? Be washed, bruh.
We had some technical difficulty, but here's...
Aw, he was...
Looked like a...
He looked like a corner dude.
That was a brick.
Why no?
That was a brick.
That don't look like that one there?
Yeah, that looked like he had...
That looked like that one there.
To me, that looked like he asked for a jersey and some shorts, some shoes, because somebody
was talking shit.
Yep.
That's what that looked like to me.
It looked like he got his ass who and some shorts, some shoes because somebody was talking shit.
That's what that looked like to me.
It looked like he got his ass whooped out the end of the young boy.
That looked like he asked somebody in the talk, like, I'm going to bust this young boy's ass.
Let me get a jersey and some shoes, man.
Ain't warmed up, the cold look terrible.
I got to go hoop too this week.
I'm hooping this week too.
All right. Okay. I'm aboutoping this week, too. All right.
Okay.
I'm about to get back out there.
Where are you hooping again?
Probably go hoop at the Steph camp in Zeke weekend.
Are you playing in the Zeke?
I might.
I might.
Oh, yeah?
Okay.
I'm nasty, though.
Yeah, I'm nasty.
I'll just pick up full.
You're going to play defense?
Yeah, I'm picking up 90 feet and try to get my energy going.
All right, don't pay me.
And see what that leads to. And see what that leads to. Yeah, I'm picking up 90 feet and trying to get my energy going. All right, don't pay. And see what that leads to.
And see what that leads to.
Yeah, I'm not stupid.
I'm not, no.
Don't pass that out there.
You said it up so nicely.
So if you cook, but if you don't, then hey, now I'll let y'all know what to expect.
I'll see me.
What's the craziest fit that you've hooped in, Gil?
I went to the Rutgers.
I went to the Rutgers, and I had Dickie shorts on.
Not because I had, look I had my Chucks and my Dickie and then what ended up happening is I thought we were just going there.
So it was me, Baron, J.R. Smith, we was just, you know.
I didn't really know I was going to play. I just thought I was over there for moral support.
Oh, was this that game back in the day?
Yeah, this was EBC World, right?
So D.C. versus Boston versus New York
and L.A.
So Barron decided
he wasn't playing.
Oh, shit.
I bet.
All right.
So I started the first game, had on
brown Dickey shorts.
You played a game with Dulce Gabon in the league, right? So I started the first game, had on brown Dickie shorts. Cooking.
You played a game of Dolph Ziggler bonded to the league, right?
Yeah.
That was cold.
That pitch was cold.
On the baseline, that pitch was cold.
Elite level.
I was cooking.
That's gangster.
This boy's out of his mind.
Crazy.
That's gangster.
Crazy.
That's gangster.
That's gangster.
The designer on the baseline.
On the baseline?
Yeah.
That's gangster. That's gangsta the designer? Oh, the designer? Yeah. That's gangsta. That's gangsta hoop.
What's the craziest fit you hooped in, Brent?
Probably just my Oak Hill school uniform with the hush puppies or whatever it was called back then.
You wore hush puppies?
Yeah, we had to wear dress shoes, like church shoes to school every day with our uniform. That's probably about it.
I'm too stylish. I gotta be swagged out.
If I ain't got it, I ain't got it today.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Right, like if I ain't got my stuff, I just ain't.
It ain't that serious.
And brings my last question.
So rocking jean shorts to the court, big no-no.
What are other things you should never do as a hooper?
Oh, 100% do not wear your whole Jordan outfit. Tr big, no, no. What are other things you should never do as a hooper? Oh, 100% do not wear
your whole Jordan outfit.
Trash. Yep, that. All your
trash. Yep, that, and don't come looking like a creative
player from 2K. Oh, that mannequin.
Yeah, the mannequin. Like the
arm sleeves and all that, like all the niggas that got
Bro, what you doing?
Yeah, you wear the whole Bulls outfit, the 23
with the shorts, with the MJs.
With the leg.
That nigga laughing. Maybe having to wear a number 23 or should that just
Be banned for life only trash were to wait
So do I'm not saying you shouldn't be able to wear number 23 if you trash no facts
Yeah, no or 32 really out of respect for Magic.
You got to take...
I mean, shit.
I mean, then you're only leaving, like, 50s and up.
You got to give them, like...
Like you play for the Celtics.
19.
Like, you can't wear no number you play for the Celtics.
I think, like, 23 is, like...
Them numbers are disgusting.
Yeah, if you wear 23 on anything, I think anything.
You know, the funny part is, of like in the NBA like certain players
23 is a trash number it amongst Hoopers whoever has 23 arm sucks
Historically like it's like 30 right you go to a you and you you have you see someone with 30 you would think they the shooter. You know, you go, oh, they got the stuff.
They got the stuff.
Like, oh, trash.
Before, yeah.
You got to make 10 in a row to wear 30.
Or the number three.
The number three is like, yo, he fast, or he quick, like AI.
All single digits in AAU, you're like, oh, he got it.
He got it.
He's trying to get it in.
He might be, yeah.
He had number 22 or something.
22 was co-cool
He's like Mike 23 was
I'm so I gave us I even do it now. I'm so we're carrying we're playing I got on them 67
He got on 67 dog
Parents be looking at me like my yeah, I'm judge your kid by the number He got absolutely cuz he wouldn't have picked that number if he was nice. Yeah. Yeah the worst
I'm gonna go to camp stone and I'm like walk off her seven. Look at that
You go to basketball camp. You gotta wear like 346. You know about that who you are you getting one of the good cuz you
Always always number 124
But do y'all do that too like if you go like it's like the ABCD camp number I was like yo why
Why this thing got three digits on it. It feel heavy. Yeah. 154. Yeah. It's like, damn, you're 38.
They start thinking that's like,
you start thinking that's your ranking.
Damn, I'm that trash? Yes. Oh, mine probably
was, though.
Dead ass.
I ain't lying to you. Dead ass
serious.
Like you said, you see jersey numbers.
To this day.
We just had a tournament two weekends ago jersey numbers. To this day. Oh, yeah. You show up.
We just had a tournament two weekends ago in Vegas.
I'm looking out there, yeah, by what number you got on.
Yes, certain numbers.
One, three, five, 11.
One, two.
Two.
Two, two.
You got a bunch of them.
I'm on zero, zero.
Zero, one, three, five, like seven.
Kenny Anderson, I'm putting that.
11.
I think all single digits.
15, you still.
15.
20.
22.
21.
21.
21.
21.
21 for sure because of Deion.
21.
21.
Yeah.
Because of Deion Sanders.
Certain numbers, yeah.
Like 30 because of Steph.
23, 8, right?
You're like, mmm.
Like even like number 15. You can't wear 8? well no cuz I was always the actual Kobe fan. Yeah
If somebody were 24, he's actually a Kobe fan
A back in the day, so that's always our 8 and 54 for something. This is like a real like
Even that's 54. It was a good number. that's 54 54 is a good number that's a disgusting sometimes which one 54 is
disgusting not 54 is hard from above the realm kyle watson was number 54 in the brother room
but in aau that's a that's a disgusting 55 high school high school basketball if you look down
and saw somebody with 54 on another team in high school i'm gonna say that's he was a big that one
they're gonna be he was a big that's kyle go to Georgetown. He was a big. That was Kyle Watson.
They didn't throw him a jersey and was like,
here you go, big fella.
That's the 3X.
That's the 3X side.
You know it goes from small to the highest.
55 works.
55 works.
They made the jersey by size.
The nigga threw me 40.
I had to wear 44 my junior senior year.
And I was hot.
I wanted four.
And it was small.
So when I got like, I wanted four. And that was the thing. I wanted for and it was like it was small So when I got like I won't you know the thing like all it went from small to yeah
I was mad at the little white boy who had the Jerry's like
play
Mad at him for nothing the coach and gave it to him
So let's talk about Anthony Edwards interview today with Shams
Anthony ever said he's changing his jersey number from number one to number five.
He wore number five in AAU high school and college.
Said that he will be a better player in his favorite jersey number.
So he said, for sure, a whole different player, a lot of athleticism, a lot more dunks, just a different level of play.
Because I got my number on my back now.
He got his number.
That's his number, Gil.
Okay.
I like number one personally.
He said a lot more dunks. A lot more the same shit you've been doing. Okay, his number, Gil. Okay? I like number one personally. He said a lot more, Doug.
A lot more the same shit you've been doing.
Okay, cool.
Cool.
Do you, brother.
We touched on this already, but what impact does having your jersey number, your favorite number, have on your game?
Like, if you want to wear three and you see somebody else on the squad, got it.
Yeah.
I mean, I had to change my number after Milwaukee.
I went to number seven up in Detroit.
But I went to seven because of Kenny Anderson.
I was still hooping in, but it still didn't feel like, that three is just different.
That three was always different for me.
But you still was B. Jennings and-
I mean, yeah, I'm still B.B.
Jennings. I'm still B.B. Jennings. I mean, yeah, I'm still B. Jennings. I'm still B. Jennings.
But just number three is just because of who wore it before
me, like A.I.
I understand.
I understand.
It's a me, too.
I'm saying, but you had Kenny Anderson to lean on, too.
Yeah, yeah, for sure.
Yeah, yeah, oh, for sure.
Yeah, yeah.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah, back then.
So you could have.
There was a few guards that you could have.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Kenny Anderson, for sure.
Did you ever go against AI?
I went against AI one time my rookie year. That's when he was last year in Philly.
You lucky.
You lucky.
Why? Anybody who wore that
three got
the brakes beat
off of him. He had
a problem with another three.
He had a problem with the three. He had a problem with
the, like, you know, like, I'm guarding him
and he's cool.
Juan Dixon, sub in.
Oh, my God.
How dare you
have this number on? Yeah, like,
how dare you have this number on?
He's going to get that through that business.
How dare you have this number on? He took that shit
personal. Yeah, no, I call AI. Yeah, he wasn't AI AI
But I wish it's like that Wesley Snipes movie to fan where he was in a slump cuz he didn't had a jersey
So De Niro had to get rid of the other dude. So he get his jerseys over
Yeah, nice thing. It's a good thing for some people. I mean your number is
Important though, can you just feel different?
Nasty number you play nasty, but I had to change my number because you just feel different. Nasty number, you play nasty, but.
I had to change my number because, you know,
a few spots, but they all had meaning,
so as long as it was single digits,
I wouldn't go where I know, yeah,
I wasn't finna go out there and, yeah,
like the Clippers, I had two, Knicks three,
Milwaukee, I went back to six.
I had four for a minute and then were in my college number. So you had to be all single digits. Yeah. Yeah
Say it again
Well now when you younger but yeah now when I got to Cincinnati because it was said Larry Johnson grew up around the way so
That's it. I'm
For like three months I were 55 like Jake like a white chocolate tried to make the number popular, but 55?
Shit was hard in white chocolate.
Man, if you go look at his highlights, bro, his highlights.
No, no, no.
His highlights is better than a lot of people.
But I mean that 55 because it's not.
Like high school basketball, the guard couldn't get 55.
So anybody who wanted to play like him couldn't get 55 anyway.
You call you Dikembe.
Yeah.
So that age is all small numbers, so it was really hard.
I don't know.
I mean, they can bring it back up.
I mean, that 55 was hard. Kiki Vandeway.
Kiki was nice in that night.
55 is good in football.
He was a beast.
Oh, Kiki was nice with that thing. What did he do? He was a beast. Oh, Kiki was nice with that thing.
Score that, yeah.
Footwork, Jay.
We had Deke.
I don't know what I'm saying.
Jay Will.
So, good, you were zero in college.
During the peak of your NBA career,
you didn't switch numbers.
That's a very unfortunate situation.
But that number held a special meaning to you, right?
Because if somebody told you you would played zero minutes in the NBA.
No, zero minutes in college because I was going to Arizona.
So they didn't think I was the Arizona type because I didn't have the name.
Who said that to you?
I don't remember.
Okay.
But you remember the last thing you heard, Pat?
Damn.
It was every news article that ever was printed outside of Eric.
So, you know, they didn't think I was going to be able to play at Arizona.
So when I got there, I was trying to get 25, but they were retiring it.
Steve Kerr.
So that year, zero and one was available.
So I was like, well, since everybody said I'm going to be a zero, fuck it.
Go ahead and give me it.
Did changing your jersey number in the NBA affect your game at all? Oh, no, yeah, I was like well since everybody said I'm gonna be a zero fuck it. No, I ain't give me it Did changing your jersey number in the NBA affect your game at all? Oh
No, yeah, I was trash. You're trash, you know, but I knew it already knew it like like look I was like, yeah
I'm not gonna put no bad numbers on this zero right here. So after after that year I came back number nine
I
Don't know why I It had meaning then.
I don't know if it was like the ninth year or I got to try.
I don't know what it was, but number nine.
And then when I got to Orlando, I went with one because of Penny.
I just wanted that number one.
Then when I went to Memphis, it was like one and zero put together to give me ten.
Oh, okay. In Memphis.
But you know, those are just trash numbers.
Like, you know, the jersey reflecting them.
You had to come off that age of zero.
Yeah, I had to drop the age of zero.
I'm like, I can't.
Nah.
Nah.
So it's the offseason.
Big three is in full swing.
Ice Cube been very outspoken with his frustration
with the NBA's lack of support of the Big 3.
During a recent interview, Cube went at Albert Silver,
went at Albert Silver, said,
the NBA is full of great slogans,
and they write Black Lives Matter on the court.
We're pretty full of shit when the rubber meets the road.
So Steven Jackson echoes some of those same sentiments
in the interview that was released this morning. Now we got some, you know, people that played at Big 3 on this
couch. You were the head coach of the team. Can you play? Rashad was the MVP. Brandon,
you never done Big 3. Would you ever do it? What would it take?
Nothing. You can't fuck with it?
No. I'm just, I'm chillin'. I'm chillin'.
He said, no, I'm chillin'. I'm just chilling. No, I'm chilling.
I mean, look, it's a direct competitor
to the NBA, but it's given a lot
of former NBA stars life
after their NBA career, right?
Definitely.
But it's a competitor. It is what it is.
But should the NBA look to form a partnership
with the big three?
I mean, he was there from the beginning, so
he would have better insight than three. I mean he was he was there from the beginning. So, you know, he will he will have better insight than me
I'm yes and no, you know, I'm saying to a certain degree. I'm saying I ain't saying they gotta just flat-out
Have it like a
farm league or
retirement league I ain't saying there needs to be that I'm saying but
Something just you gotta do much because we all have played there or retirement league. I ain't saying there needs to be that, you know what I'm saying? But something.
You got to do much, you know what I'm saying?
Because we all have played there,
you know what I'm saying?
Like I can see if they're getting guys that's never played in the NBA.
You can throw them a bone,
just something.
But neither here nor there.
But I don't think
going about it that way is the way.
Dissing them,
calling them out their name, talking about they full don't I I don't think that's the way to go
It's not gonna happen. I don't think that's the way you go out go about and get their support if they haven't
Supported it since the conception. I don't think that the likelihood of it happening now
It's great. I'm saying but it was a it was a way for us when we got done playing.
It was a couple years after I got done,
they presented me with it.
You know what I'm saying?
I thought it was a good idea.
You know what I'm saying?
It was a place for former pros,
whether you played overseas or the league,
most of us played in the league,
if you wanted to continue to play.
It wasn't a grand,
wearing tariff, getting up and down the floor,
it was half court, so it was a great concept.
And a lot of us had people who followed us for years.
So when we went back to these cities,
they would show up to see us.
And you look around the stadium,
you saw jerseys, you know what I'm saying? Like with names that people didn't bought jerseys over the years and that's what you see in the stands
So it was a great concept. I'm going
but just
now I just it's just certain things that
Me playing and coaching in it, you know, I'm saying both sides
No, this was a great concept man. It's still going.
I didn't, personally, I didn't like when they lowered the age limit to a certain age, because,
yeah, you got some more, I'm not from chasing around a 25-year-old, man.
I'm 40.
Like, that's just not...
Yeah, for sure.
You know what I'm saying?
No.
Like, it's just...
No, I don't think you don't.
I don't think you don't. Dead-ass serious, man. You say that's your fault, or yours? Yeah, that's my fault. No Serious man
No, yeah, but they didn't have like you could have Lord it to a certain point, but you saw it
Let me open the floor guy. I get it
but then it's
certain guys that like that I
When I see certain guys out there, there's no competitive nature with me in them. Well, there's no...
I can't look at them and get up for certain guys.
Just what it is.
When they start letting certain guys in,
just what it is, man.
Like, if I see Jermaine O'Neal after J.O. played,
if I see J.O., we know what it is.
We know what we finna do.
I see Reggie.
I know what I gotta bring to the table.
I see certain...
If I'm guarding with Charles Lewis,
I know what I gotta do. I get out there on cat. I got to be on point like
no disrespect to some of the guys who they brought in but
You give it a shoe. I'm gonna turn my back on you. Mm-hmm. Like you can be the best score here best
I don't respect you
Because I there's nothing there for me to respect. I never played against you, bro. I don't know you.
That's why I never played in
celebrity games.
I don't take you
serious, man.
You don't fuck with celebrity games at all?
No, I don't take it serious. There's no competitive.
I'm too competitive for that, man. It's not a
joke for me. If I'm going to do this, we
finna hoop.
If I'm lacing my shoes up and taking the effort to come out and stretch do this, we finna hoop. If I'm lacing my shoes up and
taking the effort to come out and stretch and shit,
we finna hoop. I'm not finna mess
around and fucking playing with y'all, man.
I just don't. I just don't have it.
I never have.
That's why the big three meant something for guys
at the time. Then when they just started
letting certain guys in in certain
situations, then that
took the, for me, took the law away from what it was supposed to be. It was supposed to be this for
I'm saying for guys who've done it and
Built their career on their name and the way they played the game
But hey, but he wanted to run a company how they want to name my it's a I'm coach now
Yeah, okay big I got question about the big three. Can they take the big
three into the Olympics?
They got three on three already.
I think the NBA did that.
The three on three for the Olympics?
Oh, so they do do that. They already got it.
Why don't they do something with the big three?
It's weird because
the only thing I have a problem with is
as the NBA,
these are your players that are retiring that you're not supporting anymore.
All right.
There's going to always be retired players.
That's the point of the big three.
Yeah.
Like, it's not going to go anywhere because even if this falls, someone's going to pick it up because players are going to want to play.
Like, there's players that didn't think they were going to be done, that they are done.
And the big three is where they go.
So you trying to support it is good for you, too.
Yeah.
It's before your season.
So you get to watch some of these players.
Like Joe Johnson got the call-up.
He got the call-up.
Yeah, he got the call-up.
Twice, right?
Yes.
Twice.
Twice, yeah.
But that's where he's coming from.
So, you know, you have something there.
I think they should at least come up with some type of arrangement where, you know, something can happen.
Because it is ex-NBA players.
For the most part, those names are ex-NBA players.
Even though you have these younger kids now, you know putting the highlights up and putting people in seats
I mean you still see Jay Rich head at the rim. Yeah, I must say he just had a crazy
To my point, you know saying like in the beginning like yeah you to a certain degree
Yeah, you should be do that because it's not direct competition more the NBA
There's no league in the world. That's indirect
Competition with the NBA, you know, so yeah, like yeah, you should
Find something but I don't think the way they going about it and that's have been going about it
There's no is the way to get support. That's just not I'm not you talking shit about me publicly
It's it why would I it'd be better to call me by name if they just let the players who like the Joe John the cat
Right those guys talk directly with
It would have been it would have been better your beginning. It had been better your beginning, but but do you still got cat Rashad Reggie?
Saying guys that still like moves still playing. Mm-hmm
Like you still the part of them you coaching. Mm-hmm, but you still got guys that's cool doc
We will still collect like yeah, but that's what I'm saying. It's like why
Dr. J and all them guys having that compromise man. You got Rick Barry
Rick my horn you got it guys. That's there Yeah, you got your Hall of Famers right there. You're not even helping them out like this league is helping them out and
I had to get up out there fuck it
They want to see be Jennings relax. They want to see mr. B relax through beer want to see mr. B
I went out there people want to see mr. B. I got here one time. I was I'm good. Oh, yeah
No, no, there's one thing you gonna have to do brother. Just please go before you do no for sure
Can I went out there? Come on? Yo, pick me up. Yeah, I think it was rough
Bill give me told my hamstring and no give me a 10 day
So how would you compare playing in big three to playing in the actual league just from a competitive standpoint?
it's competitive because we see each other.
I've played against you for the last 15, 12, 13, 14 years.
I know you.
It's competitive.
I know you.
You know what I'm saying?
Like I was just saying, to my point, like I know you.
If I switch a guild plan and we sit you out there on the pick and roll,
I'm going to go, like, I got to sit down and try to guard you
because he, you know what I'm saying, I I got to sit down and try to guard and because he I'm saying I know what it is and
He and if I and if he see me on him. Mm-hmm
He know like I'm saying so and that's it was that you know I'm saying so it's not the competitive nature
Yeah, and when to my point when you start adding certain guys then certain things it takes away from
My experience it take away from that you know I'm
saying because I just we playing but hmm not so for the success in dirt bitterly
we got a lot of guys we're getting older now obviously Brian you're 21 KD's 35
Steph 34 getting up there do you ever you see a world mellow who just retired
any of those type of dudes shit like I could imagine
Team with Brian KD. Oh mellow stuff not cooking out there. No
No
No under no circumstances. No no whatsoever
Probably not fucking with no was well. What okay? Okay? Okay? Okay? Okay? Okay?
Go over less of a name of a guy that's done been done recently and a messing with it
You know why why why though? Why though because it's not the law of is just it's not attractive because it's a yeah
Yeah, but it's players that's played at church at your level that does play in it
I understand that the beginning that was at the beginning do's been playing from year one
Yeah, it was a Reggie was shot cat. Oh, sorry AI
They was playing from year one, but they played
And that's it was something I'm about said they played and that's a staple but it was like I mean
I it's some players that's playing that's on a way out that can play in a big three. No, no
We can name some names because it's not if it was some of the same guys that I've been playing against us for the last
Year if guys were going there regularly after they get done playing and certain guys get done now and they were like, oh shit
I still want to play a little bit but I don't feel like getting that I go playing that mm-hmm, but that's not the case
I'm saying some players some of them do I just like I don't want to be disrespectful to these because some of them do I?
Do not know
Yeah, no, I know some of them names that playing in it now i've never heard of you know what i'm saying yeah
so they should keep it straight ex-nba players or if you played overseas for or or if you had a
certain career overseas we know guys who guys been in and out of league guys come and go you know
what i'm saying you could have spent four years in the league and played seven years in Europe I
Think you should be eligible sir. Yeah, not just cuz you didn't play 11 years in NBA. No you played 11 years professionally
I think it'd be I think it'd be better if they just kept it straight acting being players
I will but you did but you don't have enough to fill it up every you know I'm saying I mean
I mean, we got up to pay pay. They do. They couldn't.
They couldn't.
But if you're getting support
from other areas,
like the NBA
or other sponsorships
that's putting real money behind it.
Yeah.
That should be part.
Yeah.
The big three should be part
of the MBPA.
They do.
You know what I'm saying?
Should be,
but now it could have been.
It's too late, dog.
I'm telling you right now,
it's too late.
Forgive.
We can forgive. We can forgive. but you but it ain't just cube
No, you got other people that's going on that's been going on Twitter. Yeah
Yeah behind it doesn't it ain't it ain't calling this June. It ain't cute
I didn't cube cube is the people know ice cube. Yeah, he'd have baked the face of in the name
Other people have gotten the way of the business of the big three.
You know what I'm saying?
Okay.
That's forced Cube's hand to a certain degree.
Got you.
He's getting the backlash, he's getting everything because of it, because it's his
face out there, and his name, his brand.
Yeah, yeah.
But-
If it was just Cube by himself, he would-
He would have to listen to us. Yeah, he would have to. He would have to. He would listened by himself, he would have to listen to us.
He would have to.
He listens to the players.
He listens to the players.
If he was just cued by himself
as a solo man,
I'm pretty sure the league would have been already on him
because he would have had all of the NBA players,
the AIs, they would have all been speaking
for him.
I know personally and factual that people that come in try to help and support the big three.
Do everything they can to help Q.
And they like, I don't want to deal with such and such.
Other person.
You know what I'm saying?
Gotcha.
I don't want to deal with such and such.
Too many people.
I don't want to deal with such and such.
You know what I'm saying?
I know this personal.
You know what I'm saying?
Yeah.
It ain't nothing. I was there. You know what I'm saying? I know this personal. You know what I'm saying? It ain't nothing.
I was there.
You know what I'm saying?
So it's unfortunate.
That's what it is.
You know what I'm saying?
Yeah.
A lot of bridges that have been burned that Cube can't repair.
Okay.
No matter what he try to do.
And it's unfortunate.
It's time to bring in Tough Crowd.
Let's get back into that NWA.
Shit, I'm with you Q. Fuck it, let's get...
Jerry Crowe.
You know where it's at?
You know what I'm talking about.
So, when you look at the big three, who's your favorite former NBA player in the big three?
Like, who was the guy that you saw doing it was like...
Who's still... Oh, Cat.
Cooking.
Hey.
Cooking.
He was right over here. Yeah, but... Hold on, hold on, let me, hold on, let me, let, Cat. Cooking. Cooking. He was right over here.
Yeah, but, hold on, hold on, let me, hold on, let me, let me, let me.
Fuck that.
Cat did his thing.
Mahmood.
Let's call it what it is.
Mahmood Abdul Raul.
Yo, I made Dakota's Mahmood jacket.
At his age, what he was doing, bruh.
Okay.
Enough said.
Yo, man.
He tore me asshole.
I ain't gonna lie.
Enough said. Like, man, he moving too much. Big three or nothing? Big three. Yo, my- He tore me asshole. I ain't gonna lie. Enough said.
Like, man, you're moving too much.
Big three or in the league?
Big three.
Hey, man.
Oh, no, he's getting angles and moving to places that I was like, I didn't even know
was there.
Off the glass, like, same kid who was going to the league.
Yeah, that's one of my favorite cards I wish could have just, like, kept playing.
What?
Man, I killed it.
I made a cold-
I remember the LSU day.
I made a cold, tough crowd.
Life's one of the earliest play- you know, I'm like 41, but that's one of the earliest players I remember
just cooking and watching no three-point line,
I think the 45-second shot clock, whatever it was,
putting up 30 pieces, 40s, 50s.
And then some of the things that, some of the numbers,
people are going to find this amazing and probably alarming.
Some of the numbers that Reggie Evans has put up in this Big 3 thing.
No exaggeration, man.
Like, yeah, day in, day out.
Yeah.
Reggie Evans has arguably been the best player in Big 3.
Like, no BS.
No cap.
No, like, rebounds, points, assists.
He's doing it all.
Fouls.
Doing it all.
He's being Reggie.
Yeah, he's being Reggie.
Coming out of his bag offensively because he ain't got no coach telling him not to.
Seriously.
Do your players listen to you when you tell them to do shit or they go rogue?
Who, my players?
Yeah.
I sub them out.
What you talking about? You see Nick going to be playing. You tell them to do shit or they they go rogue. Oh my blood. Yeah, I said them out
You see Nick gonna be playing
Mega playing he's a he's a when I'm I haven't been there because of you know
Daughters doing a you stuff and you know colleges call and all that stuff. So
Nick is the coach and I put in the group chat he can only play three minutes if that you get one shot and motherfucker you got to sub yourself out if you play
more than that brother you off my team he the tea he the head captain I'm not
playing that shit we got you are not playing in this game yeah that's your
rough bro my coaches like I coached Man sitting over there. You got no control
They don't be listening. No, no you
Fucking god is not here. I'm listening at all
Who's on my team I was a captain you know the coach and yet ready to tell you I wish he was here
You hope you're still listening. He listening. Rashad ain't listening.
If you're paying attention, hit the group chat.
I will keep it up and running up.
He listening.
But, no, man, coaching, like, yeah, that was, boy,
that last game we played, the last game I coached,
and Dante Jones told me something the realest shit ever,
and I wanted to strangle him.
He was absolutely right, though.
You know what I'm saying?
We knew.
Somebody right there.
He was 1,000% accurate in his assessment and his statement.
And I looked at him all out and be like, man, get out of my face, man.
He was like, man, you can't put your heart in him?
I was like, oh.
Fucking lie to you, man.
Oh.
You can't put your heart in him? When somebody tells you some real shit, you be like, oh. Fucking latte, man. Oh. You can't put your heart in them.
When somebody tell you some real shit, you be like, all right.
Yeah, that was good.
All right, all right, all right.
Man, what a bar.
I had to get out of there, bro.
I really had to vacate the premises, man.
Oh, that's for you.
Yes, Gil.
Wait, wait, wait.
We was in Dallas.
No, no, no.
Wait, wait, wait.
And I left the court early. Y'all was supposed to. Y'all basically was in the you. Yes, Gil. Wait, wait, wait. We was in Dallas. No, no, no. Wait, wait, wait. And I left the court early.
Y'all was supposed to,
y'all basically was in the playoffs.
We lost two,
no, we had to win,
we had three games to win one.
Yeah, I thought you had,
you were like tied
and you couldn't lose
by a certain amount of points.
That and we needed,
we had three games to win one.
So.
And that.
Rashad watching the show.
Yeah.
Told you.
Checked in with his dad.
Yes.
I'll just read it.
He said, that's why we won cuz I didn't listen to it
I'm a winner nigga. Don't play with me. We didn't win that year
Listen to the first we went undefeated
The year he listen we went undefeated city came
Me the only team to go undefeated, but the crown. Yeah, we ran the we were all team was vicious
Yeah, we topped the well we ran the state first year
Yeah
No, no him and I was him and I was amazing people like you how you get him and him
And that's a great combo. What?
Now then you have flight out Harrington. Then you had James White running around a lock and everybody down
Oh, yeah, we had a defensive stopper and two bona fide scores
And can play bully ball. Mm-hmm. He said 10 and 0 because of who?
We lock it on gilderina even if you're not on the show, we're watching the show.
That's how good this show is.

But you talked about Mahmoud Abdul-Ruf a little bit.
What kind of player would he have been in today's game?
Obviously, we know the other side of his doctors came out on Showtime.
League did him dirty.
You know, he was getting his prayers off on the sideline.
They didn't really fuck with that.
But certified bucket getter seemed like he was ahead of his time when he was playing.
I don't know.
People are going to just go with you like Steph Curry, then you like Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf.
He was probably a faster shooter.
Yeah, you know what I'm saying?
He got his shot off fast.
If you love Steph, you would feel the same way about him.
You know what I'm saying?
In this NBA?
Oh, my. Oh, he would have, in this NBA, oh my goodness.
Oh, he would have cooked it.
Oh, yeah.
He'd be, yeah.
Fuck.
He'd have his cool 30
easily.
Easier.
Easily.
Like all the money
that Trey Young,
all the money that
Van Fleek is getting,
he would have been getting.
Van Fleek?
I mean, for...
He got like 130 or 300.
Yeah, he got like 130.
But I'm saying,
he would have been,
he's that size,
he would have been getting
that type of money.
He was the max. Oh, yeah. I said T said, oh, yeah, who's the max guy?
Trey, you're the youngest man. Oh, yeah, man
And this thing that your max time. Yeah, sure. I'm just saying cuz that their size like like
If somebody that he's 50 years old
No, still going. Yeah
At a high level. I mean that just lets you know imagine him 30 years ago
Yeah, or just today
Just running around like setting screens for me. Oh, go on off
Getting off of it flying man, because he was still moving
Like he was like you can tell like Jim him drink smoke do not many chances with the dimmer win if he was on that team
With them instead of Jamal Murray
With your kids passing him the ball
Yeah, just ask it. I mean he's already a pastor
He's already with Jamal Murray. No. No. No, I'm just asking. No. No, I'm just saying with his skill set
And if he can play today, I do
This hit me. It'll be if you put Steph with Joker
It's that no no cap like the Steph shoot Steph is the greatest shooter this game has seen
If I had to put anybody in the shootout to get hot and all that and get it all fast and all that
Like you release and accuracy and movement
So they would have you had a mid-range shootout right now with them two?
Mid-range.
Yeah, I mean, mid-range, college three.
A free throw competition.
Yeah, I don't know.
Like a free throw competition.
That'd be a good-ass match at 51.
My move versus?
Like a free throw versus?
Right now?
Not at 51.
Shit, you crazy as fuck. Not at 51. Yo, the man still goes and shoots. No, no, I'll do a versus right now not at 51. She you crazy as fuck.
Not at 51.
Yo the man still goes and shoots.
No no I get it.
The man still goes shooting every day.
The man still goes shooting every day.
Every day.
No no that's no listen.
That's my man.
He will get up right now.
That's my man but not right now.
I'm saying like maybe in his heyday.
And go for it.
Every day.
And get up.
Not right now at 51.
B and get up right now and go run miles.
Mile.
No I get all that, but a shooting contest?
Mile.
Steph made 100 threes in a row.
What I'm saying is he's running today at 50-something.
So a shooting competition right now.
He shoots every day at least 300 shots.
Every day.
So 300 is not enough for Steph.
For a motherfucker who's been shooting for 50-something years?
Yeah.
He's been shooting long as Steph's been on this earth.
No, no, I mean, I get it, but't not at 51 maybe in his heyday yeah you're thinking because like he hasn't
taken no days off is what i'm saying i don't know the man has a listen the man has listen he has a
disease where he has to like he has to rest so he has to rest no no i get no so it's a repetitive
i made a jacket tough crowd that's hard like with him doing uh he's my I made a jacket. I'm tough crowd. That's hard like with him doing
He's my thing with my saying so if he don't do his day not complete. He don't feel right You know I'm saying yeah at 51. I don't know so the routine that he's had
He's had and he sticks to it 50 year old Mahmoud versus Kurt Gill
Gills arena shootout
Who winning? Oh?
I
like it hey just when do I get the warm-up I do
the warm-up was coming yeah we're playing with the slam-ball ribs, though. I'm not playing with the slam-ball ribs.
No, no, no, no, no.
Regular ribs.
We can't do that.
The padding on the ribs.
It'll be a good one.
It'll be a good one.
Right, I can't say it's guaranteed me,
because I don't know what he's been doing.
But I can see his shots, and I'm like, ah.
I got to dial in.
It's going to take me a month to dial in.
We're going to have him pull up.
Like, what you think you got to go if you I did five spots
10 Tim we're going 50. Yeah with him at least
45
45 is still like so like so like you got to go 7 for 10 every time or like hell no
Big one 9 for 10. You can't oh, I mean my bad. Yeah, you're going 9 for 10. Yeah, you can't get him. Oh, I mean, my bad, yeah. Yeah, you're going nine for ten, and that's like, still, you're like, ooh.
I might get it.
I might get it.
I might get it.
You know what I mean?
No, he can shoot, though.
He can shoot the fuck out of that bike.
No, I'm still shooting.
No, for sure.
Still to this day, though.
He was the most impressive dog.
I love my move, man.
His story was dope.
Yeah.
Let's keep this thing moving.
Tragic news.
Yesterday, ESPN let go NBA analyst Mark Jackson.
Hit him on the team with Van Gundy.
I think he'd been there about 14, 15 years with coaching mixed in between.
Supposed to be rolling out a new lineup with Breen, Doris Burke, and Doc Rivers.
But let's talk about Mark Jackson a little bit.
Name's been mentioned for some coaching opportunities.
He'd been out the game for a minute,
but was a key part in jump-starting the Warriors culture from
2011 2014 obviously Steve Kerr came in the rest was history can you read that
they said they who who are they replacing them with Doris Burke and Doc Rivers.
I'm just reading the news.
So you get rid of old to bring back old?
And they wonder
why they...
Did they call you?
No, they wonder
why their rating's going down.
Did they call you?
No, they wonder
why their rating's going down.
There's a reason
that your viewership
is fucking 55 and up.
They need some young fly niggas in the mix.
If the NBA is damn near 20, the average of 25 to 28,
and you got a whole bunch of old people trying to assess what's going on.
They're outdated.
They've been outdated for decades.
There's a reason that...
People love Hubie Brown, but Hubie Brown shouldn't be doing TV.
Yes.
You're old.
No one knows you. You you're gonna be brown on radio
There's no reason he'll be brown should be doing TV. I love you a brand of his knowledge of the games immaculate. Yeah
He'll be brown has been suited for radio
Then it explains the game. Well, but it's more suited for radio. I'm saying he's older
No, the gills. They can't relate
It's like having an old coach. Yeah
Old man. No, I like my
UCLA
Shut up. I like money running that shit no more man. I damn you can't you know, you feel like you're running an old-ass
UCLA cut and slick home. What's wrong? Do you feel like the soup has been outdated a long time ago?
Maybe you need to reformulate your mind
So you gotta have is up sleep like you gotta have isms on that teeth on TV
Like you gotta have like words and the way you say things like like I don't I've never heard Doc Rivers talk
Like like, you know
Like it's like Mark Jackson. He bought flavor though. He was talking like I'm gonna go to man
I'm saying like he brought flavor to it, though.
And him and Van Gundy had this, with Mike Breen mixed in,
but they had this thing that, I'm saying Mark Jackson and Van Gundy,
where they explained the game, but it was a friendship.
It was a competitive nature with them.
But it was love, and you enjoyed listening to them during the game. I love Van Gundy
Mm-hmm, like a truth-teller it which one
Jeff Jeff Jeff on TV. I like Jeff on TV. I've never met Stan
I've been to a few games he done but I'm
I'm a Jeff Van Gundy. Let it be known. I'm saying I'm a Jeff Van Gundy fan on TV, man
I just love him. I'm a Jeff Van Gundy fan on TV, man.
I just love him.
I love his honesty.
I love the way he thinks about the game,
how he wants to take certain things out of the game and add certain things to the game.
I just love his insight.
But, no, I don't see what that move was.
Yeah.
I don't know.
Even having Richard on, I'm saying, doing games.
But you would think that they got rid of these guys to add a younger audience.
So Richard and JJ.
Yeah, Richard, JJ, like that's the group you should be going for.
Like you keep going after the old, hey, let's do that.
Don't worry, y'all going to learn.
What's so funny is the people that they didn't feel comfortable with. Oh, he's too edgy and we can't trust him.
Just a bunch of us.
Oh, yeah.
We're the ones who's running all out of business right now.
Because you can't compete.
You don't have no relationship with the players.
You don't have the lingo of the youth.
You're handicapped by word play.
You can't say certain things.
So right now you're just still gibberish and talking to your old 65-year-old group that
half of them don't even watch basketball in the sports that y'all go.
So now y'all got to try to make it feel like it's this whole thing.
Who's better, this guy or this guy?
You got to start doing a whole bunch of that bullshit
So when you watch the games here on gills arena people tune in yeah, there we have yeah
so we're coming for your quarter people tune in because they'll be able to
Assess and break the game down and keep it a buck with him. I'm saying that's what they want here
I remember I was on I was I was watching
Stephen a Smith and you know his he has JJ. He's like so JJ
What would you do it was like they're like four or five seconds left. So JJ, what would you do in this instance?
I was like, yeah JJ, what would you do in this is this because he gonna be in the corner in the real game
So what you gonna do like I'm trying to like I wanted JJ black
Yeah, well, I'm gonna be right here in this corner just waiting and hoping for a shot
Yeah, because he's never been in the situation to yeah to know what he's about to do here
Absolutely, but that that's the things I look for and I just wanted to hear just so key trick
You know right now after this time out what you what play you gonna keep first of all, you're gonna be on the bench
Absolutely. Yeah. Yeah
You're gonna be on the bench because they got to go smaller bring the defense. There's just like these that's real
They're gonna put me in for this free throw
Rebound he gonna call
People what it is. Yes, I'll probably bring me in for this free throw. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And I'm gonna have to rebound. He gonna call tight now. It's gonna be sub out.
Tell the people what it is.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Sub out for offense, bring me in on defense.
Like, yeah, yeah, yeah.
So, Keidra, you're gonna be subbed out.
JJ's gonna go in.
If we foul, like, this is what we gonna do.
We need to rebound.
Keidra get the rebound like this.
Yeah.
That's what's about to happen here.
Absolutely.
But that's what I said.
But watching the guys do it just makes me laugh because it's not realistic.
But hey, do y'all thing, man.
Do y'all thing.
If I shouldn't have got rid of Mark Jackson, he'd be giving black kids shots.
Black businesses.
He supports black businesses.
Mark Jackson going to give your auntie, cousin, everybody a shot.
RJ was shot as a pro.
Even RJ downed player black.
I wasn't that good of a player to be in this situation.
You know what I'm saying?
Even he'll say it. You know what I'm saying? It's not the truth. RJ Black, no, I wasn't that good of a player to be in this situation I'm saying even he'll say, you know
No, I wouldn't that good of a player to be in this situation
Even though knowing with the Mets he probably would have been in some of the action
Mm-hmm alone, but over time he just any keep it a buck
Wait, wait RJ said what I sometimes here tell I know I wouldn't that good to be in this situation
RJ played in like well how many finals it don't matter. What you mean it don't matter?
You're not giving him a 1-4 flat? You're not drawing
a player for him? Why not? Why not?
You see them younger days? They wouldn't.
With the Nets? I was there.
No 1-4 flat. Man.
I think RJ got to stop.
It was nice. It's realistic.
Certain players got to stop downplaying themselves, bro.
Like Reggie Miller, he'd be on there
downplaying himself like he wasn't nice. Certain players got to stop downplaying themselves. I wasn Like Reggie Miller, he'd be on there downplaying himself like he wasn't nice.
Certain players got to stop downplaying themselves.
I wasn't that type of... The average is 21.
What? Huh? He said what?
The average is 21. I mean, the 90s was a different type
of game. Yeah, you're right. You're right. I mean, today he wouldn't.
Yeah, I mean...
No, OJ was alright.
Like, I mean, like, Ryan Hollins should be
somewhere. Brendan Haywood.
Who? Brendan Haywood. He's very good. Ryan Hollins? You said Ryan Hollins should be somewhere Brendan Haywood who Brendan Haywood? He's very good
What should be an analyst no who Ryan Hollins with the Rockets some stupid shit, you know for the most part is entertaining
Ryan
I just listed this shit fuck. Oh, yeah, you're rocking. No, I can go Hollis Lander
I'm just letting this I listen to do and how last three years bro, mr. Bean. Yeah
What was it was he do I was pull up to the arena?
Yeah, we're doing the Rockets load every Rockets game. He do he did he did the Rockets don't invite me
He's a we're talking about Ryan Hollins. Don't invite me. So I just
I just I'm just
Talking about fucking I'm just talking about
Top tier
Ryan Hollins what do I give you Brendan? I'm not giving you Ryan
Analyst that's gonna go to the next level. Why would he go to the next level?
Who's listening to him?
Who's listening to the ones?
Who's going to listen to Doc?
Doc is an NBA champion coach.
Right, and he's a great player.
Coach.
He was a good player, too.
Coach.
He was a great player in the 80s.
In the 80s.
But Doc Rivers had.
That's 2023.
I would listen to Doc Rivers before I listen to Ryan.
I wouldn't listen to Michael Jordan call I listen to Ryan... Ryan Hollis and... I wouldn't even listen...
I wouldn't listen to Michael Jordan
call the games.
Shit, no, that's not...
I don't know about that one.
I don't know about that one.
I wouldn't listen to Jordan.
What the fuck are you going to say?
Oh, he has great footwork around there.
You know, that's the type of guy...
I don't want to hear that corporate shit.
We want to hear Ryan Hollis.
I don't want to hear...
We want to hear Mr. Bean.
I don't want to hear no corporate talk on sport because it's not corporate you up there when goofy ass suits
Thinking that what weren't Hollis look fucking goofy
Why do y'all wear?
Why do y'all wear suits to talk sport it doesn't make you look smarter
I'm sorry it don't't. It don't.
You don't need a suit to put a fucking point together.
Like, you guys are wearing suits like this.
We're not wearing them. Like, this is the era.
That era's gone, y'all.
Save your fucking money.
Like, even the coaches decided, hey, us calling plays in suits don't make us better.
Right?
So they got this now.
The coaches got got this now.
The coaches got this shit now.
But yeah, you know we can wear little jumpsuits on the basketball court.
Wearing fucking three-piece suits to call one-fourth flat.
You look goofy.
No, no.
Never understood.
Take your suit off.
Take your suit jacket off. Take your jacket off at halftime.
And you got sweat marked down.
All of this is just wet.
Yeah, it's just fucking wet. Yeah, just fucking...
Like, I get it.
Look, you want to look corporate,
but there's certain places you look corporate in.
Yeah.
Right?
Talking sports on TV is not one of them.
So they do it like baseball,
just let them rock the jersey.
Let them rock the jersey.
Nah, you wear something comfortable.
You wear basketball attire.
You can sit there.
You over there sitting there all stiff talking about...
Yeah, you wear basketball attire.
This is great play.
Like, shut up.
Shut up. That was a horrible take yeah with a horrible suit sweaty ass
Nice ass suit just getting sweaty shit
Just be having this on and in shorts, that's why I enjoy
I Ain't it doesn't help like it doesn't help your views
It doesn't make you look more perfect. It doesn't make you seem like you know what you're talking about a lot of you can't dress
I'd be bad lawyer
Assume the suit and Lottie the whole time be bad soon back a back back and with me in the 50s and the 60s
The criminals were the suits. Yeah, no, I did it. Yeah
Dillinger him and all of it or suits robbing people right go watch the guy
It was the criminals
Watch the godfather show me on in a sweatsuit
You're looking like you know, they're talking sport, looking like fucking car, used car salesman.
He said, you won't.
The owner in there sweats and shit.
Absolutely.
The one selling the cars got on the suits and ties.
He said, you won't.
Another glorious day at Gills Arena.
This is what we talk about.
It's August 1st.
Yeah.
Basketball never stops.
We're going to keep this shit going.
But stop wearing suits.
All right. I like that there's no
dress code here. You can wear whatever you want. Obviously, I wear
shorts every day. Yeah, we know there's a dress code out there.
You probably wouldn't even want to wear a suit.
Man, that was the greatest thing about it. I got one suit.
Funerals, church.
You got one suit? One suit. You on one suit
for real? One suit. No, seriously. Let's be honest here.
If you see me in a suit, it's one suit.
I never made that leap.
I'm still holding on to my childhood
I got you my usually supposed to have well every funeral for five or five like one of each color I
Did what I was doing one of these call? I don't know. I got a hot body shirt, huh? Okay

shirts, yeah, I judge my like if I get ready to put on go somewhere nice and I got to put on a collar shirt
And I got a yeah swallowing
He's got a little bit. It's a style. If I have to leave it unbuttoned. Yeah, I got it

You look.
Should be hurting my stomach
pinching and shit.
A great segue.
But this boy got a gym right here.
I know, though.
Man.
Listen.
Listen.
And don't like to use it.
Some of the stories he told me
about the workout.
Don't like to use it.
Listen, man.
He told me a story.
I was thinking about coming early
just to use your gym.
Yo, listen.
Boy's amazing. He's a thinker. Yeah, yeah. I can't booty watch in there. I don't think about early just to use your gym. Yo, listen boys amazing. Oh, he's he's a thinker
Yeah, I can't booty watching it. I got to go to the gym. Give me like watch a little booty like yeah
Here we go. Keep that right there. My wife says shame in a gym all the time get geared on sweat
Don't do that
This fall and I've been around
I'll eat listen. I leave the house about six, about 6.30, 6.45 every morning.
I don't touch a weight or do nothing until about 9.35.
Wait, hold on, wait.
I'd be sitting there listening to music.
I'd be just listening to music.
So you stay in your car?
I sit in the car for about 40, then go up there and just... People watch.
Oh, they wore that last week.
You wore that yesterday.
Yeah.
You looking good.
Hey, keep up the good work.
So you get up early just to drive to the thing, right?
Sit in the car and just sit there.
And you know he.
So you go, but you're doing everything, knowing you're on the phone, doing everything.
I'm doing everything but working out.
Everything but, yeah. And then you get up, and then you go in. And I go in, then I be like, oh, shit, the show about to everything. I'm doing everything but working out everything but and then you get up and then you go in
Now go in then I blow shit the show about us. So I gotta go
Yeah
When all I think he's joking that all
No, I'll be coming early and he'll be here
Hey, he has a gym right here. No, he has a nice gym right here.
A nice gym.
A nice gym.
A nice one.
And, yeah, he has a sauna right here.
He can sweat.
He can do it all right here.
He just chooses not to.
You got a whole 24-hour fitness in here that you do not use.
And he pays to go to a gym.
I respect it, though.
But he pays to go to a gym.
Gotta get out of the house.
He pays.
Gotta get off the crib.
But let's get to one of our last segments of the day
we were talking about
old heads earlier
being salty
gotta talk about Dr. J
Dr. J did an interview
with NBA personality
NBA Twitter legend
Joy D'Angela
recently voiced his displeasure
with star players
one in particular
trying to create super teams
you know these decisions
and they're business decisions.
I understand.
Right.
Or whatever.
But they have not helped the game.
They have not helped to keep the parity within the game.
To build these super teams.
So the hot topic right now is Damian Lillard going to the Heat.
Damian has never hopped around.
He's proven his loyalty to Portland.
And they just haven't been able to provide the right team for him to compete anymore.
So are you against that move?
Well, wherever he goes, he probably will finish his career because of his age
and the fact that he's played 12, 13 years.
And he wants to have a chance at winning a championship.
Right.
And he doesn't think he can get it there.
Right.
So that's a good reason. Yes, no for him, but a guy 26 or 27
Popping just want to hop around. I thought how many times the ran is hop to that. Oh, oh
No for real. Okay, see the Golden State thing ready to go after that
Now you think?
Well, you't respect that?
These old heads is crazy.
Even his list.
Even his top ten list.
We're going to talk about that in a second.
Oh, my bad.
Don't worry, we're going to get there.
Don't worry.
My bad.
I give him a little grace on that.
I don't.
He's an old head.
I don't care.
Dr. Dennis is going to fuck about the NBA.
You think he has league pass?
Yeah.
For him to be critiquing guys, he should.
He definitely ain't got no league pass.
For him to be critiquing guys, he should.
He does.
He ain't got no league pass.
You know, every CBS Thursday night show.
But so we give NBA players a lot of shit for trying to ring Chase.
But when guys get older and do it after they have a 1-1, we celebrate it.
So you talk about KD, two-time finals MVP, two-time champion.
But he's trying to get that next chip.
But he's also turning 35, meaning he's near the end of his career.
Does KD deserve more grace to ring chase at this stage of his career?
Or any player at that level?
Listen, you opened up chasing rings when you started putting legacies behind it.
When you started attaching people's legacy.
Like, we're putting you in front of this person because they have a ring.
Once you started doing that,
you know, the younger generation is watching it. They watch Shaq and Barkley on TV, right? And every time there's an argument, you have Shaq tries to use, oh, I got rings. You ain't got no
ring, right? And that's the end of the topic. So when you have a young player who's sitting there
like, I already have a scoring championship. I have all the scoring accolades. All I need is a championship.
We're going backwards.
We went to the finals.
We did this.
We lost this play.
Where are we going?
Nah, I'm going to go get my champions.
Right?
You can't blame them for that.
Right?
It's legacy.
I mean, like,
if you can tell, you know,
some of these guys like Mello, AI,
all right,
I'm going to give you this many years and you're not going to win a ring, or in the middle of this you have
a chance to go and go win a ring and then you can continue your career, they probably
going to do that.
Because now you're going to respect their resume better than what you're doing now.
And I don't...
I hate the ring talk. I hate that you use rings to justify a
Players talent when it was a team
Thing right some players aren't they're just not gonna be in a situation where they they get a chance to win the championship ring
It's just it is what it is like, you know, yeah, I mean it doesn't define you
I mean it is what it is like you know yeah i mean it doesn't define you i mean it is what i mean
it don't supposed to i mean and that's why like even when i brought up the kd leader thing it's
just what they're trying to define him on right so my response would be if i'm kd my response would
be why does it matter if i'm a leader or not like you know i'm saying like why does it matter like
i do what i do um so you know just about the hopping around and the super teams I think it is good for the game
I think when and that's what changed the game
Even with brawn like when I feel like bronze started the whole
Big three thing because it was just a different way of how they did it and it actually worked and I already the big
No, no, no
Like for that and it actually worked. And it actually... Started the big three? No, no. That's a ring just before that.
It was ringing.
No, no, no.
They were reaching,
but it didn't have the same effect
until Bron did it.
Like, the effect of the big three
didn't really affect the league until...
Melone started in 04, man.
Melone?
I was about to say the same thing.
GP, Carl.
They went and joined the Lakers
trying to get that ring
and they lost to the Pistons.
But that effect still isn't the same as LeBron's, though.
Yeah, because LeBron was so young.
Because they didn't win it.
Right.
No, but I know, but what I'm saying is who he is affected and changed the whole thing, the whole format of it.
It made everybody else comfortable to do it.
Well, it's still in his prime.
We talked about LeBron.
You know what I'm saying?
Like, being LeBron James, being the best player, him doing that made everybody else feel comfortable to do it doing that
So that's changing the game and making it also better because now I mean at the end day it is what it is
Like at the end days, so like you said if you're gonna define me on not having a ring well then okay
Well, then let me make sure I have one in it. So that's why
Yeah, I mean you can't tell me certain guys and have a great career because they have a ring
Right. No, it's a patch of you and didn't a fucking great. Well, how do you as players do it?
Y'all don't sit around talking about how many rings you got we don't know we just go
No, no, we just go off because I nigga, I don't get mad at all.
Give me that shit.
You know what I'm saying?
Yeah, you know what I'm saying?
That's just like, and I might say it to you in that moment.
You talking about 2004, the Malone was like 37, 38.
I feel like at that point, GP was kind of on the tail end of it.
Nah, he wasn't on the tail end.
He was still, because don't take away who he was, because he went to Miami. He got his ass busted by me. So he was on tell he was still cuz I don't don't take away who he was cuz he went to Miami guys
That's bust by me. So he was still good
He still had his pig killer that is peak
He was still big because the because I was 20 the year before you gotta get Gary Payton
Oh, yeah, they were gonna get paid on a shack cold
They did it then kg them did it and then it just yeah
It's been the my thing
Okay, cool, man
If that's your thing and you you feel like that defines you and that's what you need in order in order to validate your career
If that's what you need to feel
In order to look in the mirror and be like, okay. I had a successful career because I I won a championship
cool, but there's
There's a lot of dudes with rings in a trophy case at home they didn't do shit to earn it
Yep, I'm saying we say like didn't do a jack shit
And they can walk down the street and don't nobody fucking know
I can walk down the street. I ain't got no championship, nor in the Hall of Fame.
Eight out of ten people go,
that's Kenyon Martin.
I ain't got no ring.
Gil can do the same.
It's the way that you guys as players, that I've actually had to play against these guys. We live in a
culture and an era now where people
check basketball reference.
They'll check Wikipedia.
They'll use that to formulate,
well, you only average such and such amount of points, whatever.
But there's so much more that goes into it from a team standpoint,
from an ownership standpoint,
building a competitive championship team.
Gil, you've mentioned it.
You've got about four or five teams
that are actually interested in winning championships.
The rest of the owners are just interested in finessing
to get those team valuations up to get their bag right.
But you as players get the blame for that.
Why you couldn't do more?
As an athlete, man, we judge you off your talent.
What did you do?
Right?
You know, when you talk about Kobe's five rings,
it's Kobe and Shaq.
Right?
When you talk about the rings, you know, Shaq got four.
You said Kobe?
Kobe.
Like, the three. Okay. Right? You'd be like, Kobe and Shaq got four. You said Kobe. Kobe. Like, the three.
Okay.
Right?
You'd be like, Kobe and Shaq.
Yeah.
Everybody else is irrelevant.
Right?
On the team.
Who cares?
Right?
It's them two.
Right?
There might be other players on there that got other rings, but nah.
It's them two.
Everybody.
The rest of y'all are cool.
Y'all was great teammates.
And Phil Jackson.
Right?
And Phil Jackson.
And Phil Jackson.
And, you know, Jordan.
You know, you got Scotty
You know Jordan and Rodman everybody else
Y'all careers don't enhance or decrease because of the shit y'all
One bucket when they swept us goddamn this is Shaggy Cobra I'm kidding. I'm shaking. No, that's this right here. That's this right here. Oh, it wasn't.
That's this right here.
Throw that motherfucker the 34.
No, that's this right here.
Throw that bitch the 34 and get the hell out the way.
No, no, for sure.
That's what that was.
Wasn't no triangle.
Throw that bitch the 34 and move.
No, for sure.
But that's what I'm saying.
Some of these shit, like, when people put these,
like, emphasis on these players, like,
oh, we're going to put him in front of you
because he has two rings and, like... But you don't roll with put him in front of you because he has two rings.
So you don't roll with that?
I mean, you ask the fucker average 15.
I don't give a fuck about his ring.
Tell a nigga to play me one-on-one.
I'll bust the fuck out them rings.
And that's what hoopers do.
Put your ring up.
Put your ring up.
Put your ring up.
Put your ring up.
Not for sure.
But that's how we do not justify
your career because of your ring.
Only the elite get to have that argument.
Like Charles Barkley, the top fours in the league, right?
There's not a lot that can say we were better than him because we have rings to justify it.
That's not how that works.
Karl Malone the same way.
Yeah, yeah.
You can't tell me, like, oh, your career's better than his because you got two rings and he don't like it.
You can't tell me Horace Grant is better than Karl Malone.
It's great season.
It's great season.
I'm just saying.
No, I'm just saying.
You can't.
That's fair.
You can't.
Yeah.
That's what it is.
Understandable.
All right, come on, man.
What about Harvey?
No. No? No, sir. I mean, Hart is going to goable. All right, come on. What about Harvey? No, huh? No, sorry hard
I mean hard is gonna go down as the top five shooting guard. That's that heart regret Harvey Harvey Harvey to
Yeah was Paul Gasara for
Mm-hmm
Yeah
The eat nowhere in you know, you want that smoke being you take his rings back out of pain
Not now with that not then no he went no five not then
No, he's right now. So what does he rank in the fours?
Because his jerseys retired in LA and I'm and I'm trying to figure out why
Cuz Kobe he's a testicle. I'm with him. No, I'm no I'm a suit. No, I'm asking a question
I'm with like you got James were the update like I'm with you like imagine you got James Worthy up there. I'm with you. With Magic. So he belongs up there with Magic now?
No, you tell me Paul Gasol did a lot of work to get his jersey retired.
His number is 16.
That's not a desired number.
Who?
And?
And I get the whole Kobe.
I get it, but.
Two chips.
Whoa.
To put his jersey up there with the other.
Is Derrick Fish's number up there?
No.
It should be.
It should be though. Like AC Green? green. No, no, he was a bird
They did just as much as
Deny all that pussy being in LA. You playing to get over the cheap. For sure, to deny all that pussy being in LA, man.
Forum club just rolling right through, not even hollering.
Win right there.
Yeah, that's the way.
We need green up there.
He wasn't number two to me.
Pau Gasol was Pau number two?
Was he the number two option?
On those Lakers squads?
Was he the number two option?
When he won that championship?
Yeah, when he won the championship.
He was the number two option?
Yeah.
I wouldn't roll. It was Ron and Lamar Odom, they wasn't. No, the first year won the championship. He was the number two option? Yeah. I wouldn't know.
It was Ron and Lamar Odom.
They wasn't.
No, the first year, though. I saw a number two option.
The first year, it was definitely him because he had.
I played against him.
I know, but then.
I know that's what I'm saying.
Then it was.
I'm just.
I mean, Lamar.
I mean, Lamar.
I would go as far as say L.O. was more of a number two.
Because he did more. No, no. He was. So he was more. He wasn't a number two, though. as say L.O. was more of a number two. Because he did more.
No, no.
He was the...
You see what I'm saying?
So he was more like...
He wasn't a number two, though.
Who?
L.O.?
Yeah, yeah.
So Pargasol was?
Yeah.
I think so.
Yeah.
No, I'm not rolling.
It was more like...
Let me see.
I'm not rolling.
Yeah, I think he was a number two option.
I'm not rolling.
Because I guarded that motherfucker.
Not a chance.
Who's...
Not a chance.
They wasn't...
I guarantee you go look. Go pull that shit up. They wasn't... I guarantee you go look,
go pull that shit up.
They wasn't...
Who was the number two on the net?
Day in, day in.
With us?
Yeah.
We didn't have one.
I mean, we all averaged
the same amount of...
J.K. was...
But we all averaged
the same amount of points.
You know what I'm saying?
Yeah, but I think Paul...
We all averaged basically 17.
We made it to the finals.
Okay, so on the...
J.K. had the name.
On that Detroit team,
who was number two option?
Rip.
Rasheed? Oh, Rip. Rip. See, then's number two option? Rip. Rasheed?
Oh, Rip.
Rip.
See, then it would be just like that.
Was Chauncey number one?
You're not saying it's all number two on the two championships?
That's what that Lakers squad looked like.
Like, Lamar Odom was like the second most gifted, but how he played, he didn't make himself the second option.
He's just going to try to do a little bit of everything.
He was more like a Scottie Pippen style, where I'm here to make sure Kobe gets the ball,
make sure Paul don't get pissed.
So it's...
Yeah.
It's a good option.
He could have been the second option.
He could have been.
But I'm sure y'all appreciate Kobe played all 82 games in that 0-9 championship season.
Powell played 81 in the 82.
I'm with you.
I'm going to do how many games he played on me.
I like 19 and 10, though.
I don't think he should have gotten it.
Second leading scorer.
Okay, I'm with you.
That's a lot.
Somebody got to score the ball.
Top rebound.
I'm not saying they're trying to give you this.
I'm not giving you, but I played against top rebound. I'm not saying they try to
Play it against him and I didn't look at it. That's the number two
team You said hello was more of a I think hello dear more and more is more of a problem for team in my opinion
Because then power us all cuz because the model got two rings, right? Cuz I I mean why why is Jersey not retired? Hey, man, fuck all that.
Why are we...
No, no, no.
We LA, man.
We not just throwing up motherfuckers.
Just anybody else.
No, no.
I mean, but we are.
There should be only like six jerseys.
But I think we try to compete with Boston and the fucking stupid people we can put up there.
Right?
You know what I mean?
We not doing that in LA.
Shit.
I feel like a lot of those dudes with four or five, six championships deep.
I ain't going to put up no or five six championships I'm not putting those
Role players up there man
You gotta be the star
If Paul Gasol
If Paul Gasol up there Derrick Fisher should be up there
I mean shit
That's all I'm saying
It should be the person who carried us
It should be Kobe
Derrick Fisher had a lot of big shots
Kobe, Shaq
Who else? Magic Right, it should be Kobe man hit man. They appreciate a lot of big shots. Maybe Shaq right and who else it magic
Okay, okay
Dream James Worthy. Oh, hold on. We didn't get there yet. Um
Should happen good with that phone
Jerry West no
Baylor no lover. I mean, I mean, I mean it should be about James where it should be about eight or nine man. Okay, James worthy was the third option
third
will
Will but what was will the mistake will LeBron Raymond J here, but he was LeBron is definitely getting his jersey tired
They're gonna do it. But we've thought not that you know
But he doesn't have a statue in Cleveland
Is what we're talking about for sure will cap you see once the magic worthy?
Shack those are Baylor's Elgin Baylor Jerry West Phil Jackson. No
Phil Jackson got five kids. Let's get some love. I'm saying still look at still let's get nectar It should be like like it should be like yes the pinnacle
Yeah, I get it for sure once we start going to third options and fourth options because they was on a team
With the first two options. I'm good. That's all I'm saying
But if in my in our opinion said ad in the crowd if power in my opinion, if- There's an AD in the crowd.
If Paul Gasol is number one, then Derek Fisher is number two.
No, no, no, if Paul's up there, Derek Fisher has to be up there.
They don't have one of them championships without a defense.
Yeah.
It has to be Derek Fisher if Paul Gasol's up there.
So then you put Robert Horry up there.
No.
No, you start doing the goofy shit.
I'm just asking you.
See what happens, man.
I'm just-
Rob's got more other places. We're going to start at eight. Rob's got two and then San Antonio, I don't think so. I don't agree with that. At least eight, at least eight or nine. I mean, a lot of them other ones, they can go. Lakers are starting to get like a little circus out there, man.
They got people who are like, oh, we're going to get a little bit of a good game.
We're going to get a little bit of a good game.
We're going to get a little bit of a good game.
We're going to get a little bit of a good game.
We're going to get a little bit of a good game.
We're going to get a little bit of a good game.
We're going to get a little bit of a good game.
We're going to get a little bit of a good game.
We're going to get a little bit of a good game.
No, I don't think so. Now I agree with that at least eight at least eight or nine
I mean a lot of other ones they can go Lakers are starting to get like a little circus out there, man
They got people who ain't even in this from this country to city. They got statues out there
Well, I would take sailor Swift down take all that shit now
Take everything down
Take everything down because it because now the Clippers is moving
So that's the Lakers football who built who built the now the Clippers is moving, so that's the Lakers thing. First of all, who built the arena?
Jerry Buss, right?
I think A.G. and Jerry Buss maybe combined.
Okay, so when he built it, he built it for what team?
The Lakers.
Okay, so that means it's supposed to be L.A. Lakers thing.
And that's it.
Any people, anybody who came in there.
The Kings.
The Kings, too.
He didn't build it for the Kings.
He didn't build it for the Kings.
They're together.
No, no, no. He bought that team later. That ain't had nothing to do with him. Okay. That's fair, too. He didn't build it for the Kings. But no. He didn't build it for the Kings. They're together. I mean, they're together.
No, no, no, no.
He bought that team later.
That ain't had nothing to do with him.
Okay.
That's their team.
They own the Kings.
Wayne Gretzky.
Where's Wayne Gretzky from?
Not here.
Yeah, go build him in Canada.
His hometown.
Buss bought the Kings and the Lakers.
At the same time?
I believe so.
No.
According to winning time.
But either way, I don't feel good with you saying no.
He built it for the Lakers, right?
But Donald Sterling gave him the loan to do it.
Man.
Just telling you.
So get all the Clippers shit out.
They're just watering down.
They done lowered the...
Decreased the nachos.
I do feel like the Lakers, being who they are. They do deserve their own like
Mike arena with nothing else in there, but just Lakers Maybe that's what I mean the light night nothing else should be in that arena
But just Lakers purple and gold it would makes I would not disagree with you
That's what the forum used to me. Then they start fucking with Inglewood and books
Are y'all rolling with the Clippers going to Inglewood or something?
Okay, they go they go to fucking Anaheim.
They can go to fucking San Diego.
They can go to fucking New Mexico.
They can go to Mexico.
Shit, they can start their own goddamn island.
All the money they got starts on a fucking island.
Get the hell out of here.
Gotta leave the Clippers.
That red, white, and blue.
Well, I'm a Clippers fan now, so fuck what y'all talking about.
Yeah, all that red, white, and blue, they can get the hell out of here.
I'm a Clippers fan now.
America's team.
America's disaster. Fake ass Americans. Hey, I got reason to cheer. You know what I'm saying? We held up on I'm a Clippers fan. They got Steve. Man. That's fake ass
I got reason to cheer. I'm saying we got
Juniors over there. Would you do your prayer? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, we chair for the
Junior that performance
You got it. He got it. He got it. He got it.
He got it.
That motherfucker been here for about two and a half weeks strong.
Gets it.
And we're going to do a funeral for the fly next episode.
And that fly been bothering the shit about everybody on this couch.
He got that Miyagi cracking.
Oh, man.
Miyagi.
But back to Dr. J
we also got to talk quickly
he came out with his top 10 list
had the internet going
I'm just going to read it to you no particular order
oh god
Jerry West, Oscar Robertson
Elgin Baylor, Will Chamberlain, Bill Russell
Michael Jordan, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
Magic Johnson, Carl Malone
Tiny Archibald.
Man, this man ain't got Tim Duncan on here.
So he said he left Kobe, LeBron, and Steph off the list.
Fuck, they ain't got Tim Duncan on there.
I'm just...
Dr. J.
Listen, he don't have LeBron James.
Yo, you got Carl Malone.
But his argument was, hold on, his argument was...
I don't like Dr. J.
The guys who he don't have on there, some of the guys who we don't have on there are still playing that list
That's all we tried to make Tim Duncan ain't played in years
But I've got five rings car Malone ain't got not that list right there. Let me know what type of person he is
No, no, you know how old he is the name of the half cable. He got dial-up. You don't have LeBron James
He probably watched the game since what ninety fucking. You don't have LeBron James? He probably ain't watched a game since, what, 93?
You don't have LeBron James on your list?
He probably ain't watched basketball since 95.
That list don't have nothing to do with LeBron James.
I have nothing to talk about.
That list ain't got nothing to do with no player after 95.
The doc.
The doc.
Don't think about it.
The doc.
Turn this shit up and put on Dota Girl.
It needs to be stopped.
This man got tiny archibalds.
I'm taking his name.
What I'm saying is think about it.
Like really think about it.
Look at the players.
They're young enough to be when he first started retiring and still probably looking.
He probably looked at the game in 30 something years.
Do you think Dr. J has a league pass?
No.
You're not paying for that shit.
Hey, is that how he said it in order, too?
He said it in no order.
No order.
We always say no order.
But listen, I'm for sure he did not say Michael Jordan in the top five.
When he mentioned the names, I bet you he didn't say Michael Jordan in the top five.
I'm pretty sure he said it just like that.
Yeah, look.
I mean, he got Mike coming off the bench.
He got Mike coming off the bench.
No, I'm just saying, like, if you look at that, but that makes sense.
If you have somebody do it today, right, and they will do it in most of those.
I mean, Michael Jordan will be in there.
Of this list, who will be on your list for top ten?
Top ten NBA players of all time.
Yeah, like how many coming off?
The big old
Will, MJ,
Kareem, Magic.
You're not fucking with Tiny Archibald, Gil?
So that's five, right?
I'm not.
Man, stop with the Bill Russell bullshit, man.
They must have had an AAU program.
They smeared doo-doo on his wall.
Man, it was five fucking 16s when he played. Russell bullshit man a you program
Fucking 16 dude who on his walls. Yeah, so five out is 10. Oh good. Did he bite? He was a doo doo
Niggas was getting hung
They needed a bunch. Oh, we got to find right so obviously got five some brain
Therefore the songs girl. So the soldier so MJ five dream, but have y'all watching that of eligibility footage, right? Mm-hmm
That's so I don't want to do what you're trying to do. No, no, no
Trying to make me do the other five
That's easy
Another five
No, I got is Tim Duncan. Okay. Okay cold. Okay, LeBron. Okay, Steph. That's
Stop. Okay
What about a kid?
Listen, what about it? Okay, I came a lot wrong. You can replace a game. I'm lucky cuz Mike we can say
But I came still do know you can
Damn his ring about the ring damn hisakeem still, no, you can't. Please don't do that. No, no, no, no. We ain't talking about the rings.
Damn his rings.
I'm talking about the rings.
Damn his rings.
No, no, I know.
Damn his rings.
You're talking about Hakeem.
Hakeem got two.
It seems like a guy
that doesn't get the respect.
But damn his rings.
He needs to be in top ten.
You're talking about work?
So Hakeem Olajuwon
would be in the top ten
if he didn't even have rings?
Absolutely.
Okay.
So is he in your top ten?
He wanted to be put in.
He was not named.
Okay, so I mean... But you can take... Is he in your top ten? But I started moving him in. He was not named. Okay, so I mean...
But you can take...
Is he in your top ten?
But I started moving.
Wait, wait, hold on, wait, wait, hold on.
Is he in your top ten or not?
Because you just said if he's in your...
If he didn't have the ring, he'd be in the top ten.
Hey, hey, hey, not...
Hey, hey, hey.
Certain guys will have him in the top ten.
You know what I'm saying?
Certain guys have him in the top ten.
No, is he that good?
Because if not, then he can watch out.
And that whole Houston...
So you...
No, no, no.
He's top 15 100% sure. But, but what it means are not really not top 10
You gotta take will be real. Yeah, Kareem is Shaq will Kareem is Shaq
Hands down, you know magic don't tell my fives. No, we're talking about the five five
We talk about the fives will Kareem. What about Joker?
will Kareem. What about Joker will Kareem Shaq?
time 20
car Malone
Top who 20 20? Yeah, not for sure top 20. Yes, Tony. I should walk. No, I don't know that. Okay, no
No, no, I mean everybody else. Yeah, I mean I can't agree with top five but Jerry I get Bill Russell look 11 rings. I get you people trying Jerry West, but listen will and
Will and Bill played in the same Kobe Bryant on your list. You got Jerry West on this list. Come on
This man. That's what I'm saying the document
Dr. J been around on your truck. No, but man watch you He ain't watched the last 30 years. He has
watched the last 30 years, for sure.
Whether this man watched or
not, nobody in
their fucking right mind
can say
that
on any top 10 list
whether you need a logo or not
that J.R. West
deserves to be on the top 10 list over Kobe being Brian. I don't care. Whether need a logo or not, that J.R. West deserves to be on the top ten list
over Kobe Bean Bryant.
I don't care whether you watch the game or not.
LeBron James.
You know what I'm saying?
But what I'm saying is-
LeBron James gave us 20 years of greatness.
It tells you that he has not watched basketball.
So why are you at the All-Star games and shit?
Why are you doing anything?
Yeah, because they bringing them old niggas out there.
Come on.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
He doing the goddamn- Ask K after him to do his top 10
I guarantee you look as goofy as this window
LeBron James, I think Kareem will be better more
Kareem less will be way better than that. I think Kareem this will be more Dr.
Jake been around a game too long to be doing that. Yeah, that's not a great of the bullshit
Yeah, I'm sick of this race. I'm sick of this. I am sick of the bullshit
When people have Bill Russell in there in the top ten, I I got a question your your basketball knowledge
I'm sorry the because him and will played in the same era
One average 50 and 30 rebounds, the other one
averaged 16 and 20 rebounds.
Which means one was just a
hustle player. Like, you
hustled against white folks.
And all you could score was 16 points a game.
Like, you couldn't even break 20.
And you want me to put you in the top
10. Everybody's 5 fucking
10, and there's only
8 teams, and you're playing against the white folks.
Right?
I'm looking at how hard was the league.
And I was like, who else was in the league?
Then I looked at Will. That makes sense.
Black man doing what black men do.
50 fucking points a game.
He can't be stopped.
Why are you trying to break 20?
You couldn't get 10?
Like, come on.
That means they never passed you the
fucking ball. I'm with you.
You was like, right?
You were athletic
as fuck, and you only
averaged 16 to 18 points.
Meaning, they couldn't just give you the ball and say,
go score on white folks.
You couldn't do that.
You couldn't do that.
I'm sorry. I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
They got that one highlight of him coming down off the break.
When they took Duncan out, right?
You couldn't do that every...
That's 20 points a game.
He could probably do it.
He's playing in Boston, though.
It's like 16, boy.
That's what we'll let you have.
11 rings makes sense.
There was no free agency.
You can only draft and trade.
It was just draft and trade.
You guys had this this amazing team
It's easy to dominate
It is easy to dominate not having LeBron James a step here on this list is just it's just blasphemy
We got a mom just I'm like I would just call him J when I see him like I had to go I ever see
MJ AJ look I started juggling I started googling
History no, no, no,, you call him by his name. No, I know
Julius Julius
Listen that motherfucker was him He still got the glow. No, for sure. You know what I mean? There's certain eras. For sure. He still got. He cool as a fan now. He's like, that was a.
He cool as a fan now.
I'm not.
He cool as a fan now.
Yeah.
When you watch him, just watch him walk in the room.
He's still got that aura.
Bad motherfucker right there.
He's still got that aura.
Just his walk let you know he was a bad motherfucker for real.
So is it Haiti or just old nigga not respecting the young generation?
I just think he's just older than I did.
I think he's.
No, he know what's going on. He just hate it. I think yeah
He he went on ESPN and told Stephen a spit that Michael Jordan when it wasn't in his top five
I'm sure that was that was the person who who pushed him out of
Like so you're a hater. So you're a hater. No, I don't know. No, he's not no, no, no
He's a bit of a hater 90 it ain't hating hating think about no think about think about like this before there was TV
It was him. I understand that but before TV
It was him right? There's an era. There's the era. That's like in the 60s in the 70s. They don't even
Identify as Michael Jordan's the best it's him. Okay. Okay, right if you let them see anybody like 65 and up and say Who's the best player ever's him. If you let them, is anybody
65 and up and say who's the best player ever?
They're going to say Dr. J.
There's a thing,
there's a wall here of
because he wasn't in the NBA,
nobody
acknowledges
his greatness.
Four or five years later,
Jordan comes and then they just give him...
Yeah, because I'm that
nigga. Like, what are you talking about?
Like, you just, you was telling us
earlier, the co-mainter. So, why are you...
They bitter now.
Yeah. I mean, no, no, there's going to be bitter.
Some of them are just bitter.
Well, then you should have worked hard.
Jordan never had motherfuckers
wrapped around a whole block trying to get in the arena.
Who?
You said what?
No, you remember they had to go to the arena then.
They had to go to the arena.
There was no TV.
Remember there was no TV?
You're talking about the 60s and 70s.
But when Mike came, what were we talking about?
We were talking about flashing lights, baby.
Flashing lights everywhere.
So you mad because nobody wanted to take a picture
of that damn throw?
No, no, no, no, no.
Fuck out of here with them gold chains and throwers.
No, no, no, no. Fuck out of here with that. No,-ers. No, no, no, no. Fuck out of here with that.
No, no, no, no.
That red, blue, and white man, that clipper color ball.
Nah, it took pictures.
Man, watch out.
That clipper color ball.
Hey, hey, hey.
Get the hell out of here, bro.
Watch out.
Nah.
It took pictures.
Nah, don't talk.
No, no, no.
He was the reason that the NBA had to merge.
You bashed the 70s and 80s, so fuck them all.
He was the reason that the NBA had the merge I mean
okay thank you he was bigger than the NBA did you see his dunk contest no yeah
that was trying to fucking we talking about was created for the house created
it I mean shit the the the what the dunk contest everybody's like woo the Michael
Jordan dummy that shit was trying the only thing I care about the 80s is that everybody was getting money.
Those dunk contests.
Dominic needs to come with the same ducks.
Three years straight.
Windmill, one. Two windmill,
two hand. Let me go from the side.
That changes the fucking dunks.
I mean, 15 dunks,
12 of them is a windmill.
The only thing I care about the 80s
is that shit.
Like, Jordan, listen, I'm sorry. I don't know. I'm going to say this shit now. of them is a windmill. The only thing I care about is the 80s. But back then, that shit, like Jordan jumped from
like, listen, I'm sorry. I don't know.
I'm going to say this shit now.
Once Jordan jumped from the free throw line,
right, and he got a 50,
every year after that,
it should have went down, right?
We've seen that shit already, homeboy.
Unless he's going to jump from that motherfucker backwards.
You got to hit him with the fly white.
The next year, you jump in, and you still getting 50s.
Get the fuck out of here.
We got one jumping.
We got this shit.
We got this shit, bro.
We got Dominique going from the left side to middle.
He going angles.
The only thing, listen, the only thing about the 70s, 80s
I love is that we was getting money, us, you know, everybody was getting money, and they women.
The women look better in the 70s, 80s, and the 90s.
Better hair care products.
The 70s and 80s and 90s was a good time for you to get a woman.
When we talk about that older generation, 50s, 60s, 70s.
Man, the 70s women looked like they was 57 at the age of 20.
I'm cool. I'm good. No. Yeah, that's not even true fact. No, that's not true. We look at highlights niggas is already bald
You go look at bonus
70s and the 90s on, that 20-year gap, the 70s and the 90s.
Pam Greer.
Come on, Sade.
Come on, what are we talking?
Vanity.
What are we talking about?
What are we talking about?
Say online.
We're talking about Halle Berry.
We're talking about Halle.
We're talking about, man, go look at it. Go look at it age. We're talking about Halle Berry. Go and look at the age. We're talking about Halle. We're talking about all.
Man, go look at it.
Go look at it.
Look at that age. That's a good error.
That's a good error.
That's a good error.
That's the only thing the doc in them got over us.
It was aging fast as hell.
If you found her, she was yours, and nobody can see her.
They didn't have internet back then.
Ain't no internet.
If you found her, mine.
Bring your ass home.
You can live two blocks away from your regular family.
Yep.
Yep, for sure.
For sure.
I'm going to move you right here.
That's a fact.
I moved two blocks.
Yeah, I got a whole new family.
Yep, that's a fact.
We all lived.
The mama, yeah.
All my kids played in the park.
Don't let their kids.
It was so easy to have a wedding.
We have it right here in the backyard.
Maybe y'all move down the street.
Uh-huh.
Oh, man.
The maid was coming over.
Yeah, everybody coming over.
Bring Thanksgiving.
Everybody walking down the street.
That's the only thing they got over us.
But we're talking about the older generation, Dr. J era, 50s, 60s, 70s.
A lot of those games weren't on TV, right, on the radio.
So you know niggas was putting extras on the radio.
So if you just listen to the radio broadcast, you'd think
you're hearing Superman. But you might
watch and be like, oh, that nigga's lying.
I'm just saying.
He did this, that, or whatever. You read
a newspaper article. That's why I hate the
top 70. That's why I really hate the top 75.
Because it's like
when you're grandfathering
all the players that's already in
and you know what I mean?
Compared to today's game, these guys wouldn't even make it.
So, like, do top 50.
This will be about decades.
Yeah, do top 50 and keep it that way and then go from here and then move forward.
Because, you know, even 20 years from now, the players that we think are great might be outdated.
It might be.
It will be.
Yeah, I like what you said about ranking the players.
You said rank them from one to the other.
I love that.
Ranking players?
In 30 years, do you feel like you'll be a hater like Dr. J?
Who, me?
No, I watch.
I know that motherfucker better than me.
I can see it.
Woo, shit!
What's his name, son, that player at Linwood? I can see it. For sure. For sure. Woo, shit. Got it out there.
What's his name's son that played at Linwood?
Jason Crowe Jr.? Right.
He better than me right now at that age when I was in ninth grade and tenth grade.
Everybody was talking about it.
I was like, he's the next up.
And I can say he.
Brandon?
He on his way.
I'm telling you.
You were called, though.
Yeah, that kid averaged 35.
He called, too.
That kid averaged 35 freshman year.
I don't care what competition he played in.
Have a code on.
I ain't do that to my senior year.
Y'all need to have a code on.
I ain't do that to my senior year.
So, I mean, I'm just saying.
That's just how...
But that's, I mean, it's love.
Shout out to Jason Crowe, senior and junior.
They what, set the California freshman...
Freshman record.
That's, in a 32-minute game?
That was over, no.
He had to be second over.
It wasn't.
Oh, freshman.
I was like, yeah, Williams.
Did he ever like 37?
Who is it?
Mikey Williams.
I don't know.
First year over in San Diego somewhere.
I don't know.
But I know Jake Crowe.
I know Jake. I think he's at the freshman record.
Linwood.
Linwood.
I'm going to go see some games this year.
But think about our sons playing against each other.
Oh, real?
Please let me.
This season? Gil. Hey, Gil. Hey, Gil. We going together. Yeah, yeah, yeah. sons play against each other. Oh, for real? Mm-hmm. In Linwood. Oh, please, please let me, please. This season? Gil, hey Gil, hey Gil, we going together.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Let's do a show from... Oh, we out free. We can't do the high school. We in there. We pulling up.
Yeah, we pulling up. Pulling up. D'Anthony, hook up the ticket. You already know what time it is, Gil.
I'm not paying that $10 to go to high school. We need front row, too. We need front row. We need the front row.
We need front row. I need, I need row. I need my feet touching the wood.
How much they talk?
Game, not like 10.
Sometimes parking, not included.
You got to get there early now.
These kids are there.
You got to get there early.
It's starting to get back to that mode like with high school basketball where you got to get there early.
But you remember early $4?
Yeah, but Bronny, when Bronny was in high school, I feel like it's getting back up now
Yeah, no for sure. Yeah
People are greedy. I'm a little biased
Yeah, the KJ them was
Did all y'all was rockstar? Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah them high school team. Yeah, I was rockstar
Yeah, I had them dudes was I had jumping but oh they had so much bunnies, yeah. Yeah, y'all was rock star. Yeah, them dudes was... Y'all had jumping... Oh, they had so much bunnies over that.
Yeah.
This year, I feel like if I was in the era in high school,
man, you couldn't tell me nothing.
In this era?
Man, I'd be...
I would've loved a mixtape.
What?
I'd be having celebrity girls come to my games.
No, you wouldn't have.
Huh?
You said I wouldn't have?
No. You said I wouldn't have. Huh? You say I wouldn't have? No.
Today? In this era?
Celebrity girls.
If I'm Brandon Jennings at 18,
the number one player, and I'm getting money...
They know about basketball. Yes, they do.
Listen, I'm next up. Come look at the future.
They know contracts.
Listen, listen, they definitely...
When you do this right here...
Listen, listen, Gil. Gil. when you do this right? Let's say let's say gail gail
Yeah, you can't tell me it was no girls that's a celebrity in Bronny's DMS trying to get him
How's this Bronny doesn't matter, but if you're the if you're the hottest player in high school basketball, you got grown women as waiting on you
Yeah, what? school basketball you got grown women as waiting on you get a what teammates mommy
I mean no it is nasty but it is it also donor supported but it was going down I
mean it's going down today I mean today they hitting you when your next game
we got a high school let me ask my mom I think this let me ask my mom. Let me ask my mom when I play. Hold on, let me ask your mom. Let me ask my mom. Let me ask my coach when I...
Oh yeah, we're going to fly here.
We're going to play in the best...
Whatever.
Whatever tournament in Houston.
They flying there for you.
And now they getting money, so they going to play for that.
I ain't seen one fine girl at a game yet.
Huh?
Just a bunch of old ugly ass mothers.
That's because these young...
That's because...
Old, out of shape mothers looking at me like, stop.
I ain't seen one fine girl at a game yet.
Huh? Just a bunch of old, ugly-ass mothers.
That's because these young...
That's because...
Old, out-of-shape mothers looking at me like,
come on, stop.
Listen.
You're not...
Yo, I'm telling y'all, listen.
Ladies and gentlemen, this is Gil's Arena.
This is what we do on this show every day.
Nah, some of the kids be walking around there, man.
Like, my wife be like, what the...
Women, moms be like,
they let these little girls go to these games now, they? I be like, yo. Like what women moms be like they met the little girls
But it's a game not a like they weren't dressing like that, but not like this
No, no, no, no, no, I like that. I'm not free dancing at the this night
You know again any time you don't just look at this
Right it's little did like I go to high school games regularly in a couple years
But my catch that was high school them games some girls used to walk in a marine of them games man
By walking on look like grown women sometime and you got
Men women everybody like they walk by everybody the same with a usually about like this
That's what I'm saying
Like even a cheerleaders I'm gonna
Truly like the the cheerleaders like y'all think y'all the Lakers
I'm not doing this
Be on my phone. Yeah, this is embarrassing
Well now it's time for last segment of the show mostly fans very spirited conversations again today
Thank you to underdog fantasy for giving us a platform. I got high school cheerleader got high school chili. Underdog and Gil said we're going to work y'all.
Y'all want a day off?
Go be a teacher.
You ain't getting no breaks.
All right.
So first question is from Underdog Tag, Miranda6pm.
Miranda6pm, you got 50 on the way.
When did you hit your rookie wall in your first season or did you not?
Me? Rookie wall. Oh, yeah, I hit mine. I was on the way. When did you hit your rookie wall in your first season, or did you not? Me?
Rookie wall.
Oh, yeah, I hit mine.
I was on the bench.
He didn't play enough games.
Yeah, I was on.
I hit my rookie wall on the bench.
Yeah.
It was rough.
I think for me, man, because I feel like when I was coming in, man,
we were still practicing.
Like, we had them hard notes.
I had Scott Scouts. So, you know, we had them hard notes. I had Scott Scouts.
So, you know, we had two-a-day practices during training camp.
You remember, I think they have one now, right?
They don't even do all that.
So I came in to the –
And you might practice once.
To the deep of the mud.
So I had to earn my position.
And I think just through all that, like, training camp, playing preseason,
preseason, summer league.
I would have to say like after All-Star break.
Because, you know, I was feeling myself a little bit.
I think All-Star break was Dallas.
I mean, my rookie year.
And that's when they played in the $50,000, you know, the $100,000.
Oh, the Cowboy Stadium.
Yeah, the Cowboy Stadium.
And I just think just the overwhelm of getting all the love and everything
and taking some days off kind of got to my head a little bit.
Because you get a little cocky, you know.
Rookie year, you know, you're feeling yourself.
You know, I'm playing right off the jump.
So I think that second half a little bit was kind of like my rookie wall for me.
Because it was like, and that was the most important time of the season too.
And I wasn't ready for it because I was trying to get so much early
when the second half of the season was more like the playoffs
and trying to get your position.
So I feel like the second half of the season for me.
Yeah, that shit was so long ago, bro.
I'm just being honest.
But if I could, my situation was different than y'all.
Like, I came in, like, I was 22, and I was, you know what I'm saying?
I was physically, like, yeah, you know what I'm saying?
Like, I was ready to play.
Like, coming off the injury and all that stuff, my senior,
and all that, I had bounced back from it.
So, physically, I was ready to play.
I think it was more the mental.
I got probably drained mentally before physically, you know what I'm saying?
Just hadn't been traveling that much in and out of cities
and doing all the extra stuff and being a pro.
I think probably more that having to deal with all that
than the physical aspect of it.
Because I think I was physically, like I was,
I was ready to play.
A rookie wall is more of,
you're doing so much in a short period of time.
Right, you know in college you're practicing
five days a week, right, playing two days a week.
And the NBA is like four days of games, half a day of week, right? Playing two days a week. And the NBA is like four days of games,
half a day of practice, right?
So what ends up happening is if you start calculating
your shooting if you're a shooter,
you'll realize you're not actually getting shots up
because if you're not practicing
and then you're doing pre-game
and then you go in the game, shoot 12 shots,
like for that day you might have took 50-something shots.
You do that every single day, it's going to affect your shooting.
And you're sitting there like, what the fuck's going on?
Before, you was taking 200, 300 shots.
Your shit was on point.
And then you went through 18 games.
I mean, you know, 18 days, probably 12 games or some shit like that. And you ain't really been getting your shots up like you were used to.
And that's usually what ends up happening.
82 games, coming from a college schedule,
which I always thought they should increase college games,
but 40 games, maybe max to now doubling that,
basically playing two seasons in one.
No, the practice is worse in college than it is in the NBA.
But does the travel impact, I'm saying from the NBA standpoint?
No, because you're just not. In practice, you're practicing.
You're really getting the feel.
There's a time where you're sitting there, and you go on a long road trip, and you gain some pounds.
That's what I'm saying, yeah.
You gain pounds just sitting around eating plain food, sitting on the bench drinking Gatorade, and you done got out of shape.
You got out of shape if you ain't fucking playing and just mentally paying attention.
So usually you hit that rookie wall.
You hit that rookie wall because you just, you wasn't mindful of the schedule.
And I think for me, too, I had a lot to do with Under Armour, my rookie year.
Like, I was the first athlete.
I'm about to drop a shoe.
I remember I was on the cover of Slam Magazine.
I had to do photo shoots for, like, I'm also starting a brand, too, as I'm about to drop a shoe. I remember I was on the cover of Slam Magazine. I had to do photo shoots for...
I'm also starting a brand, too, as I'm playing.
So they have to find ways to get photo shoots
during the season and things like that.
So it was other things that I had to do a lot on the road
because of my rookie year.
We're having ESPN games now.
I'm doing commercials.
It was just a bunch of stuff that was coming for me so fast
that I wasn't really ready for it
because of the year that I had before in Europe.
So I didn't know.
55, thank you.
It definitely helped me.
But that whole year, it was more business for me
outside of just hooping.
Yes, it was falling and it was going,
but off the court, on the road,
every road trip I'm going, somebody wants to was falling, it was going, but, I mean, off the court, on the road, like every road trip I'm going,
like somebody wants to talk, somebody wants to meet.
Like it was just things where I wasn't used to
from the year before.
So I think that's where a lot of the...
I was in the city at night.
I was in New York.
I'm 22.
There wasn't no restrictions on me.
Boy, I...
I had strict restrictions.
You was a kid. Scott Scowles, you know, he was on me every day after every game come in
Let's watch film. So it was different for me. My rookie year was just like a lot that kind of like, you know
I kind of burnt me out too though. Mm-hmm, you know my first two years just burnt me out because I had so much early
Like in my career
So the second question this this is from Sidley.
Sidley, you got a bag coming.
God bless you.
When did you first fall in love
with the game of basketball?
It was probably my dad coaching.
I wasn't really playing.
And I wasn't good enough.
He called his team
like Dream Team Bulls,
just a whole bunch of rock stars.
Like most of the slam ball players.
Okay.
The original slam ball players.
St. Louis?
Yes, St. Louis.
That was my dad's team.
It went like 82-0 throughout their career.
Well, the other team that was playing didn't have players.
So dude asked me to play.
And I had like three shots on my dad's team.
You couldn't tell me shit no more.
And I was like, I love this shit.
Like, you know what I mean? And then from there
I went, tried out for a team,
made the team, running Rebels,
and then from there I just couldn't stop.
Brandon, how about
yourself? For me, always loved it.
It was always in my life.
But I think I loved it the most when I was around Tyson Chandler.
When I was a kid, being a ball boy.
Like just seeing his, like, you know, coming from Compton,
you know, being the first high school player, you know,
to ever really make it out of, of, seeing the star power out of basketball really made me love it
and I felt like that was my going.
And then when I was 13, winning the national championship,
AAU in Memphis, Tennessee, that made me really want to take it to another level.
Signing my first autograph, getting my first newspaper article.
Back then, you had to stay the next day to see getting my first like newspaper article you know
back then you know you have to stay the next day to see your article you know and get it before you
leave so just things like that um just really helped me love the game without like you know
i didn't have a father figure so um my mom made sure i was around like you know basketball talent
and things like that so i would say say Tyson and when I was 13.
Yeah, around that age, like 12, I think, we had like a national tournament.
A lot of teams came from around, like in our hood.
Like teams came from Puerto Rico, Indiana, like all over.
And we had this, like in our hood, at the salvage norm we played at yeah yeah they just showed me
like this could just mean something you know what i'm saying so from that point on man i just
were you already super athletic then yeah i could jump yeah i was always my athletic i was always
the the athlete of the bunch i'm saying like other guys could score better and shoot better and all that but I was always
Yeah, like a jump and block shots. They're just what I was and then we
took two teams
Savage normal play that then we took two teams the Helsinki Finland when I was 12
so that was like
Wow, yeah All right
When the wilds on the end of the game. And also, shit,
paying rent.
Being able to play rent
for AU games back then.
Shit,
a lot of us,
I had to play AU games
to pay rent.
So,
you know,
shit.
You was getting paid?
Huh?
You was getting paid?
I was getting paid early.
Like,
I was getting paid early.
And,
you know,
like,
I lived in Orange County
when I was young,
sixth,
seventh,
eighth grade.
I graduated.
Actually, I moved from the hood and went to Orange County when I was young, 7th, 8th grade. I graduated. Actually, I moved from the hood and went to Orange County when I was 7th, 8th grade to play AAU basketball
because, you know, a family just believed in us and was able to take us in.
But, yeah, I used to, like, you know, I knew how our living was coming from me playing AAU games.
So it became, I mean, like, yeah, did it become a job early?
Yeah.
But did I love it?
Yeah, because it kept a roof over our head.
But I also felt like that also divided me from the game.
Because it was such a job early to where I needed to find something that made me happy and that's why I got with fashion
So because like I did love ball though like I was great at it
But also knew what it brought and I was also knew what I had to do to make ends
Like you get I'm saying so it's like to me now. I feel like I'm happy because I'm doing what I love
That makes sense that's legendary well that is our show for the hotel so you only give out funky ass hundred dollars good
So I'm just I'm just
You want to ask one more I got y'all gave out like fucking the hundred dollars and y'all go and it's a hundred hours today
Now you're gonna give out the love of 150 at least brandy got a big water
You got another court. We got another question. Yeah, another one more. Good. Come on, man
You go. Yeah. Yeah. No, yeah. Yeah, I see me time out. Yes. Yes. Oh actually and y'all to go
No, no, no, no arena. You don't give out funky ass
again
It's a different and just another person get the win about funky ass and all. Again. What's the difference between 100 and 150? 100 and 150 is different
and just another person
get to win.
Give us a read,
ladies and gentlemen.
Anything can happen.
You're not seeing this shit
on regular TV.
We don't lie.
We keep it real.
You got a TT,
you got a TT.
All right, so last question.
Hold on.
Let me find it find I got it
hopefully I turned
this mic off
this is from
I don't think so
the ultimate
the ultimate rage
underdog username
ultimate rage
and Brandon's girl
appreciate this one
I'll ask y'all too
first I'll ask him
when he comes back out
are NBA players
podcasts hurting
the business
of major networks
like ESPN
that have cut
numerous employees
um I I hurting the business of major networks like ESPN that have cut numerous employees?
I think yes, you know, and in the ratings, yes, I think so because
one ESPN and all of them they talk about the players they don't talk to the players to talk for the players, right?
So no matter what kind of take I have, you know, if I say something that Draymond Green didn't like, he's going to invite me to a show and we can talk about it.
Yeah.
Right?
That's what the players do.
ESPN, they're just going to bash you and keep it moving.
They're never going to backtrack, nothing they say.
So what ends up happening is the players have this union this union it seems like that
There's a respect amongst amongst us right no matter what goes on
We can we can go to each other's podcast and have a dialogue have a dialogue instead or a critique. Yep
Huh All of us so I asked you the question again, who I
Don't think they're they're not gonna invite the question again. Like who? I don't think...
Is there a service?
They're not going to invite me to their podcast.
Yeah, they will.
Say something they don't like.
Say something they don't like.
Yeah.
So, what'd you say about this tape?
Because they know it ain't...
Because it drives views.
You know what I'm saying?
You had this to say about me.
I don't agree with it.
Let's come on and talk about it.
You got to...
You think they mad enough for that?
Yeah.
Some.
Some.
Some. Remote interview. Some. Not all. Yes, we enough for that? Yeah. Some. Some. Remote interview.
Some.
Not all.
Yes, we know how to play.
Some.
Not all.
Some.
Yeah, they'll get you on the Zoom a lot.
Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
Like, they'll get you on the Zoom,
but they ain't going to pull up
like they say they are.
Like, some will.
It all depends.
It depends on the person.
It all depends on the person
and the podcast people.
Yeah, but my thing is,
okay, well then,
my thing is,
I'm going to give you seven days. If I say my thing is, I'm going to give you seven days.
If I say something about you, I'm going to give you seven days to come over here and say something.
After that, then don't say nothing about it if I see you out.
You got seven days.
God made the world in seven days.
You got seven days.
So other than that, if you ain't got nothing to say after seven days, then don't bring it back up.
You should have said something like that.
Oh, no, you saw it.
You saw it.
You saw it.
You got seven days.
God made the world in seven days. You got seven days. Oh, I got seven if not, then don't bring it up when you come on here. Let's talk about something else
Turn player podcast they heard me again
To a certain degree man, I just don't think they heard in their game, but the overall
Entertainment for sports. I think it is and I'm saying not yeah, we're pushing up on them for even a show like this
I know they're not happy with us. They've tried to fuck up our Wi-Fi in numerous occasions
You obviously in our cars all through the neighborhood and shit security be active funny sometimes
the unmarked
Fucking the Wi-Fi
Sports talk world more than,
you know what I'm saying?
Yeah.
Like, than that.
Well, just because to you guys' point,
they've controlled it for so long
and kind of, you know, been the gatekeepers.
Yeah.
Now we can hop on YouTube,
do a much better program, in my opinion.
And then I say, to give a point, like I said,
and to have a dialogue with former players,
guys that's been around the game,
other than listening
to somebody critique LeBron day in after day in, day out, critique Steph, critique Dame,
critique, ain't never been in these seats, ain't never sat down, ain't never been in
the locker room, ain't never did none of these things. Well, we can have a dialogue about
those same things and it come from a more natural and genuine place, because we've been
there.
I think we saw that with Zion in Vegas.
Didn't know what was going to happen,
but he came in very cool.
Yeah, I mean, you know,
like something like that, right?
You know, you got all the fans in there like,
why didn't you ask about this?
What the fuck does that have to do
with the basketball game?
Right?
Like, that don't have nothing to do with,
you know, him playing.
Right?
We started talking about gossip stuff.
Yeah.
Yeah.
What he's going to do is level A.
Yeah.
Compared to.
Shit, I had to go to court 55 times.
I don't know what.
Young fella, good luck.
You know what I mean?
Got to put something on that thing and you would be going through it.
I can tell you right now, the best days, shit, he got to win.
Zion got to win this summer
Yeah, she wasn't pregnant boy that unsaved your ass 18 years plus more and headaches boy. God damn you ain't heard a sense
You done dosh a great one. Yeah, boy you probably lost 10 pounds just that
Stress that he should've been around 240. That's a championship ring.
235.
He wasn't under enough stress.
That goes on his legacy.
That's a ship right there.
That's a legacy.
He died.
He died.
He should've been shriveled up when y'all saw him.
Well, we appreciate all y'all for tuning in, Kenyon.
We appreciate you pulling up.
Then another episode of Gills and Reader presented by
Underdog Fantasy. We'll be back tomorrow.
Boom! Boom!
Appreciate y'all. We got the smoke.
We got the smoke. They do who possess Vanessa bless the desire is true. I'ma say it loud another dinner who some swear by Nike
