Welcome back to Gil's Arena presented by Underdog.
Lovely Wednesday here in the arena. I had the NBA Cup tip off last night. A lot of good games. You
already know. Got some things to talk about.
How you feeling today, Gil? You looking spry?
You were out there walking around.
Nice pep in your step?
We were doing one again last night. Smacked ass.
Okay. All right.
Mm-hmm. Whoo.
We were doing about, like, 30, 40.
Yeah. Those non-conference games.
Did you see the USC girls' score?
What? Oh, my...
They smacked who? Tucson? About 80-something? If that Did you see the USC girls score? What? Oh, my. They smacked Hussein about 80-something.
If that was high school, USC coach would get fired.
You got to write a letter.
Why y'all beat them?
Why y'all beat them?
They suck.
Because they trash.
They sorry.
Why they didn't score more?
That was a mess.
That was disgusting.
Okay.
Why? Question.
On why do certain teams go against teams that they just don't supposed to be in the same room?
Usually for a check, but I don't know in that particular case.
It's like we're watching some game like, you know, Duke.
I seen them play a D2 team.
Yeah.
Like why are you playing a D2 team?
And then they played Army.
And then Maine, too.
And then they played Maine.
I'm like, whew.
How was y'all even?
I get Maine because of Cooper.
But they pay those schools to come get their ass kicked,
and then exchange those schools to get bread to help fund their program.
Oh, it's like instead of having, like, a scrimmage game,
it's just like we're going to get our little confidence up.
We'll get you some bread, fly you out here.
After you lose by like 90, then what?
Like as a coach.
That was USC.
That was Juju.
90?
Yeah, we're going to go back to our regular league.
90 points?
We're not ready for this.
Coach, all this running and shit you got us doing.
Yeah, it didn't work.
So what now?
Re-evaluate.
Yeah.
Something different.
This is Gil's Arena presented by Underdog.
As always, we got the legend Gilbert Arenas here with us.
And we got Cemetery Larry, the honorable champion for Charles and Sean McKenzie,
back in the arena.
And WNBA champion of the world, Lexi Brown. Yeah.
First appearance this week. Good to see you, Lexi.
Like the Gills Arena merch.
Yeah.
Gail like to wash your ass.
Mm-hmm.
Oh, wait, you got...
Move around podcast, guys?
What y'all doing over here?
What?
Oh, this is the trenches.
I didn't even know that.
You on our corner?
No, it's just the trenches, man.
It's a little gaming merch, you know?
The way you just pull up with these shirts.
Coordination.
You know, we're in the trenches with the trenches.
Shoes?
You got to coordinate.
When you're in the trenches with us, you get plush treatment.
Okay.
You get shoes and shit.
Coordination.
A plush trench.
Okay.
You might get some work as we... I'll have Lamar see what kind of work we can muster up. You shoes and shit. Coordination. A plush trench. Okay. You might get some work.
I'll let Lamar see what kind of work we can muster up.
He forgot your logo. Not yet.
It's supposed to be in the middle, right?
What face? What, the Larry?
Yeah, the Larry face over it, right?
Shit. Hey. I don't got it.
Uh-oh. What we got?
This motherfucking thing's looking very good.
Uh-oh.
We're in the park.
We're in the park.
We ain't playing that.
We ain't playing that.
Did you do that?
Okay.
How you know?
How you know?
He knew.
He knew.
Nah, man.
That was not even the plans.
Y'all just got here.
Yeah.
He just got here.
I just thought, like, okay, with the Larry face.
I'm Larry.
See, no fucking thing to say.
See? We ahead of the game, I tell you.
We got Trenches merch coming soon.
There's a lot of merch coming for y'all.

Here's what's cracking in the arena today.
Klay made his return to the Bay,
but Steph spoiled his homecoming.
Did Klay's ill-advised shimmy seal the Mavs' fate?
Joel Embiid looked shaky in his debut
as the Sixers took an NBA Cup loss to the Knicks.
Will the former MVP go back on his word and actually play back-to-backs this season?
And the Hawks stunned the Celtics in Boston without Trae Young.
Do the Seas need to stop shooting so many threes?
They're taking like 51 per game.
Getting smack points in the paint.
Come on, Lex.
But hey, what's going on over there?
Already two losses at home? Ew. Yeah, that's
not good. Championship hangover.
He's on today, too.
Well, you know, when Lex is here, we talk.
When you're here, we talk, Nix. And your former
team, Celtics. Lex is here, we talk, Celtics.
Against our will. My team wins.
Against our will.
So we must oblige. But before
we get into all that, as always, this show is brought to you

And to help you get your bread right for the night, Gil has some pics up in his partner pack on the Underdog app.
Let's take a look, Gil.
See what you got.
Brandon Ingram, lower 3.5, 3.5.
I don't like when you don't be supporting dudes, man.
I do.
You rooting against them.
Yeah, I root it against. Let that man make 43. You rooted against Clay. No, I didn't like when you don't be supporting dudes, man. I do. You rooting against them? Yeah.
Let that man make 43.
You rooted against Klay.
No, I didn't.
Last night?
No, I didn't.
Every time you pick an under on someone, that's hate?
That's hate.
Yes, last night.
You got to cheer when they miss?
It was 19, under 19.
No, I didn't take anything on Klay.
Remember I said that he's either going to play really bad or really good.
There was no in-between with him.
He looked good.
Evan Mobley, higher 1.5 rebounds in the first quarter.
See, I don't like that because if it don't hit, then I got to watch the rest of the game.
He's a big.
Great pick.
But I got to watch the rest of the game.
If he don't get two rebounds in 12 minutes.
He should run into two rebounds.
He should run into two rebounds.
But you know, you got to watch the rest of the game pissed off.
And when they do hit, you feel good.
He the only one down here.
That's a great pick.
That's a great pick, right?
I know, that's a great pick.
Zach Levine, higher 24.5 points, rebound assist.
Yep.
Bulls coming to New York tonight.
Knicks had a game last night.
He has to do that.
It seemed like...
It's a garden.
They always, you know, that star always get a little extra.
Hey, something fishy with these.
Hold on.
Norrpau, 24.5 points, rebound assist.
That's the higher end.
What y'all doing over there?
Y'all trying to lose bread under dog eyes?
Is he averaging, like, 20 points right now?
He's averaging 26.
He's averaging, like, 20 points, right?
Ain't no something we don't.
Norrpile, you better deliver for these Bruins.
That's why I said I had to. I was searching, like, looking.
Like, I took my time.
Mm-hmm.
Yeah.
Are you confident in these picks today?
Yes, sir. Mm-hmm. Well,, yeah. Are you confident in these picks today? Yes, sir.
Mm-hmm.
Well, fortunately, we asked the chat,
are you riding or fading Gil's picks?
55% said fading.
They're not riding with you.
Wait, fading means going opposite?
They're not riding Gil's picks.
Hey!
What's wrong?
Watch when I go 4-0 on y'all.
Which one is it?
Actually, these are all, like,
these are not good picks, though.
No.
These not good picks.
Look at the multiplier.
The money?
It makes it bad.
Because the money?
Yeah, it made the money bad.
That means those are some good picks, then.
Right, because I feel like the...
You don't win nothing.
That means it's some good picks, though.
That's a smart person.
That's a smart pick, though.
Ah, I didn't know that happened. I was looking, I'm like, babe, I'm not about to make this big.
Listen, you bet $500, you winning $200, that's $200 extra.
You just got it in your pocket.
But you got to bet $500.
To win $200, that's like betting with Mayweather.
See, I go the other side.
To win $40, you got to bet $1,000.
I'll be putting $5 down to try to win $1,000. I'll be putting five down to try to win $1,000.
I'm going up.
Don't look like a good bet now.
I don't.
Like, they had one last night with Steph and Clay.
I think Steph had to hit over seven threes, and Clay had to hit over six.
Clay did his job.
Steph wanted to be going to the Cup.
And that would have paid out what?
It was like 30 to one.
Yeah, see?
That's hope right there.
That's hope.
I wanted easy, easy wins.
If you want to take it to the cup, like a buster, shoot some threes, bud.
That's what you do.
Like a buster.
Like if I see, like Curry, one and a half threes.
I don't give a fuck if it pays $40 on 300.
Yeah.
I'm taking my $40 guarantee.
Get your money.
A win is a win.

So we're going to start this show off with something stanky. Now coaches have different approaches. Now coaches have
different approaches to how they handle losing, but Syracuse football coach Fran Brown raised
some eyebrows recently when he willingly shared what he does after a loss. Honestly, I got like
a ritual. Like when we lose, I ain't even getting a shower until early this morning. I just be mad.
I just brush my teeth.
But it's like I don't deserve soap.
I don't deserve to do all that.
I'm just focused on like trying to get back and trying to make sure that our players mentally understand and know that I let them down, that they didn't do it.
You know, I just wake up all night, especially when you lose.
You like wake up like, damn, it really happened.
You know, it really happened that way.
So it's just different pieces.
And then I just move on.
There's a process that I follow every week.
One loser draw, only thing is my wife, I can't sleep in the bed if we lose cuz I ain't gonna
get in the shower for that day.
I'm just mad and I just sit there.
I just brush my teeth, that's what I have to do so y'all won't say my breath stink.
But I'm just kinda locked on certain things, certain ways.
I think you got to earn the right to do certain things.
So, you know, winners get washed.
You know what I'm saying?
I'm a loser.
I just kind of waited a little bit.
Holy shit.
Syracuse 6-3 this season.
Basking it.
What do you think about Syracuse football coach Fran Brown
saying he doesn't shower after a loss
and saying he doesn't deserve soap?
Oh, that was a football coach?
Oh, you're no football doozer.
Oh, that might be even nastier.
Different.
Because you're like outdoors.
75 doozers in the shower.
Yeah.
I thought that was basketball coach.
He doesn't think it was okay either way, but now it's really...
No dirty bus in 2024.
You got all these resources available.
You got soap, shower.
Taking shower pills.
He don't know.
Maybe taking a shower will help you win.
Maybe.
He gets so...
Well, okay, hold on.
When does he actually take a shower for the game?
Like, if he takes a shower right before the game, right?
Okay.
Maybe.
It's not like you out there running around and doing anything.
You're just yelling from the sidelines.
So, okay.
What's okay?
It's not as disgusting.
It's not as disgusting.
Which part?
Like, if he took one, like, in the morning.
Right before the game?
Which one? Which one? Which one? Like, if he took one, like, in the morning. He took a shower right before the game? Which one?
Which one?
Which one?
Like, no, I mean, in the morning.
It's not that he went.
It's not that he went.
He already took a shower.
As long as he's taken at least one shower in that day.
No, no, no, no, no, no.
Not in that day.
Like, if he woke up at, like, 7 and took a shower.
No, like, right before the game.
And, like, right before the game.
And then he going out there coaching.
I don't know how intense his coaching is. I can only go off a shower. No, like right before the game. Like right before the game and then he going out there coaching. I don't know how intense
his coaching is.
I can only go off a basketball.
Showering is still good.
He not showered for what, 48 hours?
No, until next morning.
Until next morning.
But I'm saying,
let's say he took a shower at 5
and the game is at 5.30
and then boom, they play.
That's cool.
I can understand that
because he's not actually
physically doing anything.
Like I can only go off of basketball.
I know, like, let's say Doc Rivers, right?
Maybe sweating that shit.
Game's at 7.30.
He takes a shower at 7, right?
Doc takes a shower at 7 for a 7.30?
No, no, no.
I'm just saying.
No, because they don't have to be out there until, like, what, 10 minutes left?
Whenever they come out there, 10 minutes.
So most coaches, after they do the huddle break in the locker room, they go and shower.
I'll put their suit on.
Yeah, they put their suit on and stuff.
So I can only go off of what I see.
If he takes a shower at, let's say seven,
and then he coaches for two hours,
Doc don't need a shower,
because it's not like he's sweating during that game,
because he ain't coaching.
Doc, he's stinking.
You feel me?
Doc, he's stinking.
No, I'm just saying, he ain't going, he's just chilling out here. You gotta wash the outside. It's like going to the movies. game because he ain't coaching. Doc, he's stinking. You feel me? Doc, he's stinking. No, I'm just saying he ain't going.
He's just chilling out here.
You got to watch the outside.
He's like going to the movies.
You got to watch the outside all night.
No, I'm just saying it's like him going to the movies.
He's just chilling, just watching, just that loss.
Hey, sir.
That loss put a stink on me.
No, sir, sir.
Will you ever forgive Doc for the All-Star Snooks?
Will you ever forgive Doc Rivers for the All-Star Snooks?
Sir, stand up.
Right, because all the coaches you could have picked, you picked Doc.
Sir.
He ain't really doing nothing.
He ain't sweating.
He ain't going to sleep.
He picked Doc.
You're getting off that couch mighty quickly.
He's looking.
I'm just saying, he going to sleep, man.
No, no.
Wash your ass.
Like, I would forgive him, but I won't. Thanks. It ain't cool. So you're not
For the all-star snub there. No he could do
No, no
Yeah, he can retire. He never just like the other ones
What have to forgive you have to
Forgive
Forgive forgive that I'm forgive him that I You have to move on. Forgive?
Forgive.
That I'm third leading scorer?
Forgive him.
Yes.
It's over.
He said it in the world.
It's over.
Third leading scorer in the NBA.
What happens if he's coaching Elijah?
You voted.
What happens if he's coaching Elijah, man?
Forgive him.
You got to think.
I'll wait until that time comes.
Forgive him.
You think he's still going to be a coach?
And I sent him a fruit basket.
Oh, shit.
I sent him a fruit basket.
He said the banana was soft. Every year. So that means he's going to- He said the banana was soft. He said the bananas were soft. I sent him a fruit basket. Oh, shit.
I sent him a fruit basket.
Every year.
So that means... He said the banana was soft.
He said the banana was soft.
You talk to edible rangers.
You talk to edible rangers.
I did my part.
I used my credit card.
No papayas.
There was no papayas.
You had basic run-of-the-mill fruit.
I sent 16.
I sent...
After my first one,
I sent 16 baskets.
Brown-nosing.
Indian average, 29. And then averaged 29.
And y'all voted against me for some dudes that wasn't even on the level.
My team was fourth.
I'm averaging 29.
And y'all voted against me.
Forgive him, Gil.
Now I'm over here praying for somebody to get hurt, which someone did.
Stop.
Stop.
God heard the cry.
That was my God, Gil. He will. That was not God, Gil.
That was not God.
Jermaine O'Neal my buddy, but when they said Jermaine O'Neal's out, I'm like, yes!
If you forgive him, we can really put him in the body bag.
You can put Doc in the body bag.
Oh, because they get close to you.
Yes, close enough.
Flat.
Because I've been chasing them.
Yes.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, man, I forgive him.
It's not, it's really not him.
It's all of them.
But he's the easy target right now.
That's it.
It ain't really got nothing to do with Doc.
He represents, look, he represents them.
You're right.
So we asked the chat, are you okay with the football coach not showering?
72% said gross.
Damn.
But more concerning, 28% said it's fine.
All right.
Yeah, that's not.
Ours is dirty, but.
That's not fine.
All right, well, let's.
That's disgusting.
Let's keep it moving.
How many people go throughout the day?
Not showering?
No shower pills.
You know shower pills.
How many showers do you take a day?
On average.
One to wake up, and then I go work out,
and then I take a shower after.
So that's two.
And then when I wake up from my nap, three.
And then it's so four.
Wait.
How do you get from, you take four showers a day?
I take around three.
Because I can't, like, when I wake up,
my body just wants to, it's like, wake day, yeah. I take around three. Because I can't, like, when I wake up, my body just wants to,
it's like, wake up, shower.
I take two to three a day.
I just don't, I don't know.
It's just, it's really a bad habit.
Like, if you look at my water bill,
you're going to be like,
what the fuck is wrong?
You said you lay down in the shower.
I lay down, I sleep in there,
I be chilling, yeah.
You got money.
Yeah.
You're living good. Hey, you know the little, you know the little plane things? Yeah. You got money. He's living good.
Hey, you know the little playing things?
Yeah, the neck pillow.
The neck pillow? Oh, yeah, I got a neck pillow. The same one.
After I'm done, I just, you know,
hold it, put it right there so the water just
drip out, it's dry. I know that shit.
You know we had a water leak here in the arena because of that.
All that shit moldy, bro. My son.
He don't know the tricks. He wanted to
do the same thing.
You splash it.
It's too powerful.
It's going to leak under.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
He fucked the whole house up.
Nothing like his daddy.
But let's keep this thing moving.
The NBA Cup kicked off Tuesday night with an eight-game slate,
but all eyes were on the Mavs-Warriors game,
and Klay Thompson's returned to the Bay for the first time since taking his talents to Dallas in free agency so it was an emotional
homecoming as Klay was greeted by around 400 Warriors staff all wearing captain
hats as he made his way to the visitors locker room for the first time in his
career and during pregame introductions the Warriors played a tribute video and
his former teammates including Stefan Draymond along with the Warriors crowd
showered him with love. Warriors champion, he's back!
Yes, but it was obvious from the start this wasn't just an NBA Cup game.
It was personal.
Klay scored the first two points of the game on a pair of free throws.
Received a knockdown, three threes in the first half.
But Klay Maywood would prove to be
a crucial mistake, hitting
Steph Shimmy right there.
Let's watch it. What you doing, Clay?
He was in the moment. We forgive him.
He's getting Steph Shimmy up in three.
Flash Brother shaking his head
on the Warriors' bench.
Clay in the Mavs
after round and found out Steph scored 23 of his 37 points in the second bench, play in the Mavs after round and found out Steph scored 23 of his
37 points in the second half including the final 12 points for the Warriors in the fourth
quarter going on a 10-0 run by himself to help the Doves erase a seven point deficit
with a little over four minutes remaining in the game to retake the lead.
And after hitting a clutch three with 27 seconds remaining to put the Warriors up for
Steph pulled out the night-night Sally
Okay
Bring your pride back to the light-skinned community
So Draymond came up big on the defensive side of the ball playing the small ball five for most of the game finishing with 11
points seven rebounds six 6 assists, 3 steals, and 2 blocks. Klay had 22 points and 34 minutes of action, 7 for 17 from the field,
but 6 for 12 from deep.
Luka led the Mavs with 31 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists, and 3 steals.
Kyrie had 21 and 6 dimes.
So after the game, Steph and Klay reflected on their first meeting as opponents,
and Steph shed some light on how he felt after Klay did his shimmy.
We know how much respect you have for Klay, but when he did the shimmy,
you were waiting to check in, you were shaking your head.
What were you thinking when you saw him pull that off?
He knows better than that.
It was fun to match up with Steph.
I mean, we guarded each other plenty of times in practice with Team USA camps
and all-star games, so a real competitive NBA game was pretty surreal, but after a few minutes, it was just basketball.
And then, yeah, it hurts to be on the other side of one of his flurries.
The guy got hot at the end and made some ridiculous shots.
I know I've been on the other end, and it sucks.
But like I said before, I think we play them three more times,
so hopefully we can learn from it
and learn their tendencies a little better.
But it sucks because this was a big game for the Cup.
You got to learn their tendencies a little better.
He did his job, though.
He did his job teaching them their tendencies.
He got to do better.
Yeah.
Because he said he was going to talk to Jason Kidd,
talk to the team, break down all the information he knew,
old playbooks.
Lively, get your ass up on the pick and roll, bro.
What are you doing?
But why are they still going under screens?
Yeah, what are you going under for?
Why?
Rock, man, get over here.
Push him to the lane.
He got to shoot floaters all night long.
I don't understand.
And you leave your boy on the island.
Why?
All night.
Step back.
Why?
Splash.
Emotional game, obviously.
Splash brothers on different teams.
But what's your biggest takeaway from the Warriors' late comeback win over the Mavs in their NBA Cup opener?
Lexi, we'll start with you on this side of the couch.
Nice to see you over here.
I know. I feel like I see you over here. I know.
I feel like I'm lonely over here.
It's okay.
I learned that it's still Steph's team, always been Steph's team.
But, again, the way the Mavericks defended him in those last, like,
three minutes was, like, unacceptable, I think.
Going under screens, kind of dying on screens,
and just letting their bigs just fend for themselves in those moments.
Like, you're not going to let Steph go put your big on an island,
step back three, and then the arena goes crazy.
Like, the game is over at that point.
So I don't think it was what Golden State did.
It was more of what Dallas didn't do because that game was super winnable for them.
Very winnable game.
Like I said, seven-point lead with a little over four minutes remaining. Then they let Steph go on one of those flurries that Klay used to be a part of.
But let's take it over to this side.
Cemetery Larry, what was your biggest takeaway from the Warriors' comeback win over the Mavs?
They had a Mav.
Still don't have late game sense of urgency.
They don't play with a certain type of aggressive attention to detail.
Like she said, dying on screen is unacceptable with three
minutes left.
And that's the thing I think with OKC that they don't have,
that Dallas does have, is the lack of, like, I want it.
They want to stop you in the last two minutes.
They want to get that stop.
I think Dallas still has a hard time focusing on that.
It's unfortunate, but if they dying on screens
and doing shit like that, they ain't never
going to get over the hump.
Very unfortunate, especially for us Warriors haters out there.
You know, didn't get what we wanted.
They just kept bringing Luka.
They just kept screening away until Luka got on Steph, and then they brought the big up.
But it ain't even Luka or anybody.
It's the bigs. Literally.
Like... It's unfair matchup,
but you still got to know tendencies.
Yeah. Push them to the rim.
Push them to the rim. So, like we said, emotional game.
Obviously, Klay coming back.
Whole crowd was into it.
Everybody had the captain hats for Captain Klay.
Steph guarded Klay for a lot of that game.
That's where they fucked the game up.
The game was over then.
And this is why there are certain personalities
that need to be on the bench,
because certain type of people understand
what needs to be done.
Steph is their best player.
He showed it at the end.
That was Olympic Steph, right?
You know, his new name, fuck that Chef Curry.
That was when he was young.
This is the puppet master at this point.
He's considered the puppet master.
The way he just dictates players' movement when he has the ball. To prevent that, at the 11.45 mark in the first quarter,
would have stopped that moment right there. They posted up Klay. Curry got a foul with
15 seconds into the game. Yeah, he did. Old school basketball
would have ran every,
whatever play,
whatever play,
two, three, four, five,
that is all abort.
Curry just got a foul
on Klay right here.
He is a target match now.
That means, Klay,
go back again.
Klay, as long as he's clay go back again clay go as long as
he's go back again go our job that whole quarter is to get him his second foul
now if he gets his second foul he has to sit and then he probably won't come back
until the end of the second quarter same thing get him as the next foul so he
goes into halftime with three fouls Now if he gets a foul in the beginning of third, he's done
We don't have to see Steph into the fourth quarter, which he's gonna come in at the top of the fourth
With two fouls to go he gets his fifth. He's gonna have to sit to come back in with the last three minutes
That's that's how you were supposed to play that game once once he got his first foul
Whatever your game plan was you eat Bort that shit is now targeting Steph Curry
Yeah, well he did try to go back to Steph and Steph Steph tripped him cool
Play after play after play after play after play. He can't afford to get another foul in in that quarter
But I don't care if he he got you tripping this run it again run it again my job right now is to get him
in a second foul I don't give him there's no other there's no there's nothing else that's important
if Shaq get a foul with 15 seconds left 15 in the court mother fuck I'm trying to take charge
they take a charge don't even try to block his shit take a charge hit him let him hit you back
he's running down the court we trying to stand in front of him.
We want his second foul so we don't have to guard him anymore.
But only a scorer would know something like that.
There's no way in God's green earth if Kobe, if Steph would have fouled Kobe,
Kobe would have shot the next 15, 20 shots trying to get him his next foul.
Because how's Curry going to have to play him?
You're not going to be aggressive?
You're going to back up, do this, all right, shot.
He's going to stay on the ground on all shots.
If you got a foot in front of him, he's going to let you go.
How long do you do that before it starts like disrupting Dallas?
Like I know you're trying to get Steph in foul trouble, but
it's like he's smart enough to stay.
I wouldn't do that.
I run offense that's gonna- Just score.
Put in situations for Steph to either switch guys that
aren't normally gonna be on the scores, or's going to have to give up easy tools.
He's going to have to give up easy points.
We put them in situations where the players don't have to dictate
breaking the play.
We're going to run the play specifically for this.
And I think the coaches...
Nigga, that's what I just said.
I know that.
That's one.
Girl, I thought you said I wouldn't do that.
You just said everything you...
Oh, not necessarily.
Oh, well, she said...
Not necessarily clay, but just getting
step posted up.
You were shot on this side of the couch.
No, all I heard is I wouldn't do that.
It is so much competition with me.
I heard you said I wouldn't do that.
I'm sorry.
See?
I've been trying to be on everybody's feet, man.
No, no, no.
No, but I get it.
Well, yeah, no, if there's anybody posting up, then yeah, I get it.
Yeah, man, the coach, it's up to the coach, man.
Like, I get what you're saying.
Like, the players should recognize it and do what they need to do,
but sometimes the coach needs to just put the fucking plays in
that's going to put pressure on the players to get fouls.
Like, it shouldn't have to be, oh, we got it.
Coach already know.
He ain't foul truck.
We're going right at him.
But Jason Kent used to do that by himself.
Lawrence didn't have to tell him.
He would do it.
He'd go, oh, no, no, run it again.
Run it again.
That's what I'm saying.
It's like how you got an old school coach who literally did that.
It's crazy, bro.
It's weird. I got an offensive foul in the first like I did the next play Jason kid is running Is a drop for himself. Yes
We're Richard and fucking Vince say you gonna drop back if I'm playing it right he gonna call for a screen right there on the
Block, you know do a pick and roll how y'all play it easy
He gonna pump fake to see if I'm gonna jump if I jump he gonna try to get that foul like he's you would think
I sell he's just hard you me. Yeah, I never got out of the first quarter without two fouls every time man
every time man, like
You should just hate like I don't want to guard them like yeah now bring him over here pick. Yeah, switch it
Come on. here we go. You would think.
Maybe like foul one.
With Luka and Kyrie being as good as they are one on one,
they get every single guard in foul trouble every game.
First line, back line, both of them two fouls each.
Mm-hm.
First half, cuz you can't guard me.
But I don't see that.
Sometimes I feel like Kyrie, he's too fast sometimes.
He gets a lot of those fouls by the bigs.
Yeah.
He just gets right past that first line,
and he gets fouled by the big line.
They should be dangerous.
Yeah, that.
They should be dangerous.
If they can play defense, they'll be dangerous.
Man, but that was the only takeaway I seen.
I'm proud for Klay.
Man, what I'm proud for is where what I'm proud for is
Where he lost his swagger he got it back right
When you when you're when you feel like you're not loved for the things you did and I think that's how he felt all year
Right reading the paper, you know the little cackling boos here and there when you miss shots.
He didn't feel like he was a four-time champ that last year.
And it showed in his play.
So I think when he, from when he got there,
they showed, yo, we do love you here.
So him going in, you can see the smile.
You can see, I almost cried for him. Yeah, it was a really sweet show. Yeah, when I see the end, you can see the smile. You can see, I almost cried for him.
Yeah, it was a really sweet joke. When I see the end, you can see him looking.
Wait, wait, wait. Hold up.
Hold up.
You almost what?
Get him. Cried for him.
Get him. I felt like,
I felt an emotion.
You actually felt an emotion? Yes.
Like a tickle, tickle, tickle?
No, like... Like a tickle, tickle, tickle? No, like...
Like a tickle, tickle, tickle? Like one of them? Because you know how I left DC, right?
You have this, you put this persona in that everyone hates you, right? And you're like,
all right, I'm on the stoic type of shit. Yeah. Right? And that's what he's been,
no,
these are the ops,
that's where all that comes from.
So when he gets to that building and 20-some thousand people
is like,
no,
we love you.
Yeah.
We love you, dog.
Right when he entered the building.
From when he entered the building.
He tried to come on that serious
class joint.
He tried to be so serious.
And as he kept making that walk,
I said over 400 Warrior staff
all in.
400, dog. So the Warriors knew what they were doing. We're going to butter you up. We're going to try that walk, and I said over 400 Warrior staff all in. 400, dog.
So the Warriors knew what they were doing.
We're going to butter you up.
We're going to try to get you out your zone.
I don't respect that.
Stay on your side.
No, but like, even when they called his name
and they doing a video,
like, you seen him look at the video a lot.
And he was trying to be...
And he's watching.
Like, you can see, like,
like, whatever wall he had is like,
ah, they didn't hit the open button.
And it's just coming down
and he's like... It's reminding him.
Yep. I was that dude.
I was him. Yes. I was him.
When I was here, I was him.
I'm about to show him. So another interesting part
of it, after the game, so before this
game, during the pregame intro, Steph was supposed
to address the crowd, give Clay some
love. Apparently Clay and Steph,
Clay had previously said he had really no contact with Draymond and Steph,
but Steph and Clay, I guess, texted the night before,
squashed that, said, you know,
let's stay on your side, I'll stay on my left.
Yeah, see, that's what I said.
But it didn't matter.
You could already tell. They had him from the jump.
It was a thing, man, where they really appreciated,
you know, what he did. And I think whatever negative cloud he had has been lifted, right?
Wherever you lose your superpower, for you to gain it, it has to be in the same fashion, right?
He didn't feel loved in Golden State.
And when he left, he felt loved, and you can see it by the performance.
So I think moving forward
He's gonna be the old clay
Okay, I got this out the way early
Think about think about when he left when he came back from North Carolina and visit
Hey He had the North Carolina spirit in him, started wearing light blue.
I'm going to be real.
I watched the live.
It took way too long for them to show your respect.
I saw the lady at the front having to make phone calls and fearful.
They had to make sure.
Right away, she'd be like, oh, cemetery lady, here you go, sir.
Hey, no, but listen.
Here you go, sir.
Do you know my pictures are around the campus?
Yes, he is. Do you wear?
That's all I'm saying.
No, he like.
Bounty on his head.
Yeah, the head of the class.
Bounty's off.
She talked to three different people.
Did you say, who did you say again?
He's where?
He's where?
In front of you.
Okay, be silent.
Blink twice, okay?
Maybe he might go away. We're coming right away. Okay, do silent. Wait, hold on. Blink twice, okay? Maybe he might go away.
We're coming right away.
Okay, do not move.
Don't let him, don't get him out of sight.
Don't let him go nowhere.
As soon as he got there.
No, hey, it is him.
It is him.
It is him.
So let's get into the Klay situation a little bit deeper.
So much has been made about Klay's departure from the Warriors
with both sides feeling some type of way about it. Let's get into the Klay situation a little bit deeper. So much has been made about Klay's departure from the Warriors with both sides feeling some type of way about it.
Let's get into it.
After Klay tore his ACL in Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals,
Warriors gave him a five-year, $190 million max contract.
He missed an entire next season recovering.
Was slated to make his return for the 2020-2021 season.
Suffered a torn Achilles playing in an unsanctioned pickup game
in November of 2020,
missed that entire season as well. Clay was about a month away from returning to the Warriors and
10 pounds above his playing weight when he suffered that second setback and has admitted it was a
mistake. He was doing his own thing in LA, wasn't really rolling with the Warriors training staff at
that point. He was working in LA doing his own thing, said he was about 10 pounds overweight
when he was playing in that pickup game, and it happened.
So came back for the half of the 21-22 season.
Obviously, they won the chip that year.
He played most of the next two seasons.
So Clay felt he was deserving of a contract that reflected all that he's done for the team.
But reportedly, in the Warriors' mind, they gave him max money with him only playing
for half of those five years.
So they already took care of him, I believe it's kind of what they were saying
So at this point like look you had you had two and a half years and one of those, you know
We were cool with the the finals injury, but you were doing your own thing
Unsanctured pick up game. So we had to break bread for another year. They don't play and a basically another half of the season
I'm just I'm just telling you what with their thing down. I'm not picking sides
But should Clay feel
disrespected by how things went down considering all that information?
Yes.
No. You say no shot.
Why not?
The pickup game.
But he came back.
I asked a question. Hey, listen, I'm asking a question. If you go play a pickup game and
you get hurt and you're out for a question. Hey, listen, I'm asking a question. If you go play a pickup man and you get hurt
and you're out for a whole season,
whose fault is it?
Whose fault is it?
I mean,
there's no one's fault to get hurt.
I mean, I mean,
but it's part of...
Then you go do some
not a part of the organization shit
and it sets you back even more
and you're out
the whole nother year again.
Whose fault is that?
Mine?
That one I would say is your fault.
Okay, two things is your fault.
It ain't got nothing to do with us.
We paid you that money, and you got paid
while you made your own mistake.
We did good by you.
Well, that's...
We did good by you.
Well, that's not necessarily how contracts work.
I know the contract, but as far as me and you
making good faith...
So, say he got these injuries under the Warriors' watch, how contracts work. I know the contract, but as far as me and you making good faith?
So, say he got these injuries under the Warriors' watch,
then it'd be different?
Yes.
And I would agree
in that regard.
And Clay has said as much.
He admitted, like,
he should have been more active
with the Warriors training staff,
their medical team,
kind of his recovery.
He was doing his own thing,
was a month away
from coming back to the team,
playing pickup, obviously unfortunate, tragic injury that caused him to miss.
Forgetting Pundit, forgetting her, coming back,
winning you another championship.
Like, what?
But what's spectacular in that 21-22 season,
all things considered?
He kind of replaced you with Jordan Poole for that season.
He picked up a lot of slack for you.
And then the two seasons that you did come back,
were you healthy?
You didn't give us nothing. I didn't want to say nothing.
When did he get that new contract?
Uh, 2019, I believe. Summer...
2019.
Yeah, I think had surgery a little bit before,
right before, right after getting that deal.
Okay.
But had, like, a 30-piece in that game stick.
I mean, I feel like the disrespect isn't the money.
The disrespect is how everything panned out.
But like he's saying, though,
they feel like we already
took care of you,
so you feeling like
we're not taking care of you
with whatever deal
we put on the table for you
kind of feels like
a slap in the face for them.
Okay, now, my problem is,
and I say they...
The way the contracts
are structured
is the contract he got, he actually earned. He deserved it. Right? the way the contracts are structured is
the contract he got, he
actually earned. He deserved it.
So it has no bearing
on his injury.
He got paid that.
He was a
two-time All-NBA player,
four, five-time
All-Star
when he got paid.
Like this is, like when I'm coming to the table.
You're getting rewarded for what you already did.
When I'm coming to the table negotiating,
I'm coming with all NBA and two All-NBAs and five All-Stars.
And how many championships?
Three.
Three at that point.
And I won three championships for you for this contract.
Now, after I get the contract, I got hurt how many years?
So you missed two and a half seasons. Two and a half seasons, right? So most
likely it's going to reflect my new contract, right? So we won three championships, right?
And then you go and you injure yourself. But what I'm saying, you're paying me today
for that, what I did already. So you're paying me for what I did. So I won three championships for you.
I made two All-NBAs, and I made five All-Stars.
So you're saying, okay, here's $170.
You were under contract when you got hurt.
Yeah.
Those two seasons.
No, this is after.
So after I got the money.
They gave him the max after he tore his ACL.
Then I tore my ACL.
But I'm getting paid because of that argument.
For everything.
But what I'm saying is they still took care of you knowing that you were going to
miss that whole next season.
So now coming into
the next season, after I sign my
contract, I get hurt, right? I miss
two seasons. I won a championship.
Came back and balled that
21-22 season. I won a championship.
I averaged 20 that year.
When I came back, I only played 32 games.
Right? And then the next year, I averaged 22. Then the next year, I averaged 18 that year when I came back. I only played 32 games, right? And then the next year, I averaged 22.
Then the next year, I averaged 18, right?
Yeah.
So I didn't play five years.
I played three.
Now, what am I worth off these three?
Yeah.
Is the thing.
What am I worth off these three?
Yeah, I'm not worth the 127 or the max that I would have got if I wouldn't have been hurt,
but I'm worth more than what you was offering.
No, it's not,
because you told me you worth what I give you.
True.
No, true.
So I think, you worth what I give you, boy.
Hey, I'm giving you this.
You take it.
You ain't worth it.
40.
It was a report of a two for 48,
and I think the final straw, I believe,
was this summer, him and Steve Kerr met for breakfast, Manhattan Beach.
And it was something along the lines of, like, you know, we got some other guys we got to take care of first,
but we're going to take care of you.
And I think at that point, Clay was just enough is enough.
And then you go back to last season, getting benched at times, them kind of rallying behind the gym scheme.
Yeah, that's the disrespectful part.
It was like a big pairing.
It was a 22-1-year-18. That's the disrespectful part. It was like a big pairing.
22, one year, 18.
That was a coach thing, though, again.
Right, but disrespect is disrespect.
That's what I'm saying.
Two year, 48.
If you take the name off and you say,
all right, he gave me 22, two assists, four.
That's a great deal.
And then the following year, 18, two for 48 is a great deal.
He wanted more. Did he get more?
No. He got three for 50 from the
math. So I think at that point it became,
I'm not tripping on the money.
I just got to go somewhere where we can, in theory, come
bust your ass. Obviously that was not the case.
Think about if
he takes it, what happens?
Two year 48? Nope. Yeah, if he takes that
with the Warriors, what happens?
He comes off the bench for Brzezinski.
Who the fuck is that?
For who?
He didn't even start now.
He's not even playing anymore.
That's who he was coming off the bench for.
Wait, and that's what is making the disrespect even crazier?
That's what I'm saying.
Why would I take it?
He's not even playing anymore.
Why would I take it?
They were really high on Brzezinski.
Why would I take that deal?
If you play, Hold up, dog.
I respect curly perms, but hold up.
The curly perm Caucasian,
I respect it, but wait a minute.
Everything I done for y'all.
Like the guy who
17 minutes left
yesterday took two shots wide.
Pajimski? Yes!
He ain't been playing long.
I mean, they were't I mean they were but
He's playing. Yeah
And why would I play but what I'm saying is why I'm the same amount of minutes as last year pretty much who?
Yeah, it was just it was it was though and your clay you see Draymond get paid. Mm-hmm
It was a way it was if my time time. And this is the business of basketball.
He's talking dudes.
You're bringing Clay off towards the end of the season.
Why?
Devalue him.
You turned down your two-year 48, so I need to devalue you.
We're seeing it this year with Kameen.
You've said it over and over and over again.
Bring out the mission.
You know, two-year for 48 is a great deal, buddy.
It's a tactic.
It's definitely a tactic.
For sure.
And in fairness, the Warriors obviously got Buddy Hill,
got Melton, got Kyle Anderson.
None of them starts.
But my point is, they replaced their bread
they were going to give to clay with guys who were performing
and producing right now.
Buddy Hill just looked solid.
Yeah, Buddy Hill's playing really good.
I'm just saying, Melton looking good.
They feel like that's a better investment.
That's what I feel like. They went in that direction because they knew they could get some pieces like that.
So how much money did they spend this summer?
Between those two guys.
Between those three, let me double check.
Three guys?
I got three for the one?
That's a good deal.
It's a little bit more than what Clay would have got, but...
What I'm saying is I get three for one.
How many are they using right now?
So, Milton signed a one-year $13 million deal.
Buddy Hill, I believe, what, signed a four-year...
Was that like...
Around like 38, 40.
Four-year 38, 40, Milton.
And what is Milton averaging?
And then Kyle Anderson...
They got both of them for what they was going to pay, Clay.
Kyle Anderson signed a three-year deal.
He's averaging 10 plus.
Yeah, I mean, they won.
It's a better deal.
Hell yeah.
It's a better deal for them.
Kyle Anderson signed three-year, $27 million.
Three-year, $7 million.
Three-year, $27 million.
Nah, they didn't need that.
He's going to play good for them, though.
Where is he?
No, he's not.
Basketball IQ.
These contracts are crazy.
I don't need the basketball IQ right now, man.
I need shooters.
I need shooters.
I can't even put them in the game.
Need a boy's D.R. with Draymond, fuck up.
And then Hill's contract is partially guaranteed, but-
Oh no, that's guaranteed.
That's fully.
That's fully now.
Oh, they're going to let him go.
They're going to let him go.
Already. They're going to let him go.
So he was basically guaranteed two years, 21 million.
Okay.
Yeah.
So two years, 21, plus the one year, so what?
Yeah, it's about the same, right?
It's about the same.
So, yeah, they got a two for one.
You got basically out of those two players 28 points.
Better deal.
And that's reflected, obviously, with the Warriors
and how they're doing now.
I personally wouldn't did it but
Sentiment
Please don't both sides. What's the other deal to do though? Keep keep my guy keep clay. I'm about loyalty man principal
I'm a listen. That's why they jump any man. Hey, listen, listen
This is the best but we didn't have a ship before we didn't have a ship before them light-skinned boys hit America
I believe I like
Believe they are coming you call it Columbus before Columbus hit here
We didn't know when when we drafted the light-skinned boy with the ankles and we drafted the other one who don't who don't have no facial
Features right that cuz he looks kill when first came in, he looked easy to draw.
Like, yeah, we can just
put the eyes, the nose,
right there, the mouth.
Nope.
There's no detail.
We don't need no details
in this one, right?
Before they got here,
we wasn't shit.
My team is worth a billion.
Just one.
Four championships.
And then...
Changed the way
everybody plays basketball now.
And now we can...
Or better or worse.
You can just draw.
Just circle, circle, nose, face.
That's Clay.
No details.
No details on the face.
And then four championships later
and my team is worth $8 billion.
You know what I mean?
My team is worth $8 billion.
That means like seven...
You pump my team up $7 billion. I don't give a good that means like seven heat. It's nasty you pump my team of seven billion dollars
I don't give a fuck about two year fifty you want to you 51 cool. I'm worth eight billion
When I sell this I get eight billion that means I'm plus seven billion. So hey
Did he want to be there or not? I don't know I
Feel like I don't know. I feel like...
I don't know.
Did he want to be there or not?
He don't know what's going on.
Two-year 50 to go down with Luca and Kyrie.
Three-year 50.
You know...
Three-year 50, my bad.
My bad.
Two-year 48, three-year 50.
But you already know how we are.
You already know it's...
No, fuck the tax.
That's true. But you know how we are. Oh, know it's... Nah, fuck the tax. No tax.
That's true, but you know how we are.
Oh, no!
And it taxed out here.
I don't think it won't be there.
It's taxing out here.
I don't think it won't be there.
Once you feel like you don't want me...
Yo, I wouldn't want to be there either.
Once you feel like you don't want me,
God damn it, I'm mentally okay, cool.
Remember we talked about not breaking up the band,
riding off in the sunset and all being cool and dandy but then clay like listen
abandon ship
We talked about that abandon ship, but we also talked about them prioritizing Steph Curry
Yeah, but he's isolated there's a hierarchy let's keep it real on F2
Yeah, but then they will we know thatmond was two. Draymond was two.
His contract was up first.
Okay, cool.
That ain't got nothing to do with me.
Right.
What's up?
Want my new boat?
I need a new boat.
All that.
Yeah.
Want my new boat.
Come on, dawg.
Why are we negotiating?
Where's the new boat?
Like, you know,
S.S.
Claymento, where's that at?
Is that the thing where we go
like, you know what I mean?
There's no negotiating. There's no negotiating. I'm not asking for a hundred, dawg. S. Clay Minto. Where's that at? Is that the thing where we go like, you know what I mean? There's no negotiating.
I'm not asking for a hundred dollars.
Whatever you know is nice.
Two years, 55, and a boat.
I'm good.
Nice.
We cool.
We locked in.
They acting like this is Clay.
They didn't do it right at all.
They didn't do it right at all.
That's why I think he looked at it like, that might be why he's calling them out.
I don't like the way y'all doing this.
Y'all went out your way to sign Draymond.
I think he just did what he did.
And I'm sitting here like...
48.
Let me check my fucking passport.
48.
Let me check my passport.
48, too?
Yeah, it's Clay Thompson.
It's me, okay.
Right, like... That picture is me, right? Yeah. That bill, it's Clay Thompson. It's me.
Okay.
Right?
Like...
That picture is me, right?
That billboard is me.
That billboard is me.
It says Splash Brothers 1 and 2.
Okay.
It is brothers.
Brothers.
We're brothers.
Brothers.
Brothers.
Like we...
Happy birthday to Slater Dean Gollum.
And we're lighter than that.
Give me a high five.
Like I... Listen, I get Pops as ada-da-da. Give me a high five.
Like, listen, I get Pops is a main character,
but it is brothers.
It is brothers.
It's the Wayne brothers first.
Got to make sure them two is on the...
It was the principal.
Yeah, that's...
Because he has enough money, obviously.
So it's about principal.
You know what's better than some money?
Some more money, all right?
You can never have enough bread.
Right.
You can't let a guy go negotiate
because it's just like anything.
The person who's trying to get him,
that grass is greener in that moment of time.
Right?
You know, I'm going to woo you.
I'm going to have whatever you need.
I don't even know if they have water in Texas, but we're going to find some. Right? You know, I'm a woo you. I'ma have whatever you need. I don't even know if they have water in Texas, but we're gonna find some
We're gonna build you we can build it yeah
Whatever you want a phone here is something that he ain't heard in a whole year Mike
Here we want you here. We want we want you they split they split
No, we gonna a we gotta you know, look at somebody else first and then we'll get back to you.
There ain't no get back to who.
Right.
That guy looking like Dewey Cox out there, man.
He ain't got nobody to talk to.
He losing his mind out there.
I know they do it because I got the call.
When I was a free agent, we were supposed to talk at 12.
I got the call like When I was a free agent, we were supposed to talk at 12. I got the call like two minutes before 12.
Hey, Brandon, I mean, Baron Davis just opted out.
He's going to Clippers.
So, we're going to offer you the max.
And I was like, oh man, I just bought a house.
No, no, no, we got a $5 million house for you and a helicopter.
What?
Say that again.
Yeah, the $5 million house.
So, the max back then for me with them was five years, 101.
Then, because I was like, well, my max here is 127,
so it don't even make sense to me.
Because I don't know, we'll make it up, right?
We got a $5 million house paid for as yours,
and then we got a helicopter,
and then whatever kind of cars you want.
We'll get it to 127.
So, you know, you mean walking into negotiations,
you can't tell me shit I
Ain't trying to hear shit y'all got going cut to the table. They cut to the table. I
Got I got I got paradise back in the bay
So we asked the chat should clay feel disrespected by the warrior nearly 4,000 votes
57% said no.
Y'all haters.
We did what we needed to do.
Y'all haters.
Because it's winning for them.
Right?
You know, they care about winning, so.
Them motherfuckers started off 0-8,
and Buddy Hill was playing like some shit.
Oh, trust me.
Hey, yeah.
Off with his head.
Clayfield's real kind of nasty right now.
How good they're playing?
Yes.
But they were talking about on the telecast how deep they go on the bench.
And they're saying it's going to be problematic at some point.
For the Warriors?
Yeah.
Which I was like, is it though?
Not really.
Nobody got a bench.
If they're running fast.
If everyone's buying into this system that they're doing,
which is this running gun shit,
I don't think it's going to be problematic.
I've seen Buddy Hill run into three teammates chasing the ball
trying to get a shot off.
He was so funny.
I think they said they're playing like 11, 12 guys right now.
So moving forward, man, Gary Payton Jr.
Gary Payton, he's going to be spot minute type guy.
Right?
Moody, we don't need you right now.
Man.
Moody's just calling them.
And Pazinski, we don't, like, you like the ninth man.
Right?
Right now, like, we didn't see Buddy Hill playing this well.
So he is, like, him and Kaminga is the first people
off the bench, right?
Because you got to remember
in their starting lineup
they don't have to.
Pozinski is the backup.
He's the backup point guard.
Yeah.
Has he been starting?
No, Melton's starting, yeah.
Since he came back, yeah.
Oh, okay.
Yeah, so Melton.
In the lineup,
in the starting lineup
going forward.
But I see what kind of lineup
you're looking at
where Pozinski is, number nine.
He don't come off as first point guard.
I'll put Milton as a first point guard off.
Bring him off the bench as first point guard.
Yeah.
Don't start him.
Yeah.
You start in two point guard.
So basically what ends up happening is you start both of them,
and then the first sub is him.
You bring in Buddy Hill and then bring in
Back Milton for Curry
Wiggins a comedian in so but Jim see the gyms you currently playing the fourth most minutes on the squad right now He doesn't 26 minutes a game, but you know that the 25
But there you know, but these guys are art. So buddy's coming off the bench. Yeah, he's gonna stay coming off the bench
Yes, that's his favorite thing. Now. He got like I mean, I'm not off the bench. Yeah. He's going to stay coming off the bench. Yes. That's his favorite spot. Dang, now he got... Like, I mean, I'm not going to... Off the bench, averaging
eight. He catches my boy Peyton for six men.
Buddy averaging 18 a game, playing 25 minutes
a game. I'm just saying, these dudes know when they get in, I got to
get my buckets quick. How many minutes? Uh, 25.
25 minutes, and he averages what?
18 points per game. And what's Pazinski
averaging? So, Pazinski's, uh, playing
26 minutes a game. He's averaging eight.
Yeah, yeah, see, so...
That's great. No, that's good.
Yeah, so what we thought we was going to have is we don't have it.
Okay, so.
So, sir, you're going to be the ninth spot.
You did good last year.
You gave us hope, but hope didn't work out for you this summer.
They didn't invest in him.
You know where hope was.
Yeah.
Buddy, they got Buddy.
Yeah, that's what I said.
They lucked up and got Buddy.
So, Buddy and Kaminga are coming off the bench.
Yeah.
Nasty work. Very Yeah. Nasty work.
Very good.
Nasty work.
I think they're leading the league in bench points.
I like the Buddy Hill off the bench because Brzezinski's not going to give you shit, right?
What is he giving?
He's going to give you four.
He's got to give you something.
What is he?
He's got to do something.
What is he, a point or two?
What is he?
He's a one.
Does he play defense?
What does he do, slash?
He's a one.
I'm pretty sure he's a one.
But he's giving you eight.
So wait, you were was you wait hold on you they was willing to
sit
Yes, clay on a bench for a point guard. Yeah. Yes
That's not a scoring point
So they was putting him at the point and putting curry at the two and try to run it like that
Warriors average of 58 points on the day had Chris do at. 12 points more than the second-place Grizzlies.
Yeah, they are.
Wow, they're killing it.
They are getting them best players.
That's a weird one.
Yeah.
That's what I'm saying.
People are so focused on the money.
Yeah, he was replacing Chris Paul.
Yes.
They knew they weren't going to keep Chris.
They needed to keep somebody.
You're losing Chris and Clay.
We're going to double down on Flamingo and Pagista.
So they're like, okay, we're going to double down on Kaminga and Bajinski.
We're going to put him in and make him look really, really good.
How old is he? 21?
Okay, I'm not much.
Bajinski and Kaminga is who they double down on.
It was all very strategic on the Warriors' part,
which is why it was kind of shit.
But business is business.
The game is the game, as they say.
Warriors 9-2 right now. Three-way tie for first place
in the West.
The way they're playing it. I'm not mad.
Okay, I'm not mad.
The way they're playing it, I'm not mad at it because the pure point guard now,
Kaminga and Buddy Hill,
gets to be ultra-aggressive with a pure point guard.
Yep.
I'm not mad at it.
And Steph comes in with them in the second unit at the end.
Okay.
Right when he comes back in.
So they actually all play together.
Yeah, I'm not mad at it then.
I mean, you think this Warriors success is sustainable?
Like I said, 9-2, three-way tie for first in the West.
I think so.
It'll look good if they keep going this way.
It'll look good, but I don't think it's sustainable
when it gets down to playoff time.
If you give them a head of steam like this.
If Steph stays healthy and keep his hands to himself.
You know, the only problem is going to be is they're getting a little more free throws
than they did in the past, but the free throw is going to be...
Who went to the line more on that team?
The Warriors? Uh, Jackson.
Jackson Davis.
That number...
Oh, number 32?
Yep.
What'd he do, four?
Six. Two for six.
Two for six.
Wiggins, two for four.
So your big man shooting the most free throws.
Yeah, forgot Wiggins was on the team, too.
Yeah, so they 16 for 27.
He's starting.
That he is.
Trey Jackson Davis only played 14 minutes in that game, but... Okay, Warriors. They 16 for 27. He's starting. That he is.
Trey Jackson-Davis is going to play 14 minutes in that game.
Okay, Warriors. They should be all right, man.
They should be all right.
All right.
Let's go onward and upward.

So let's move it over to the East.
After missing the first nine games of the season,
rehabbing his knee and serving a three-game suspension for an altercation
with a Philly sports reporter, Joel Embiid made his debut for the Sixers
in their NBA Cup game against the Knicks Tuesday.
Before the game, Sixers head coach Nick Nurse said Embiid would be on a minute restriction,
would play around 25, 30 minutes, also in line with PG, who played a little bit on the
higher side of that.
But Embiid looked a little rusty in his 26 minutes of game action, finished with 13 points.
He was 2 for 11 from the field 1 for 5 from deep
but didn't make all eight of his free throw attempts PG had his best game as
the sixer dropping 29 points on 10 for 19 shooting including 7 for 11 from deep
along with 10 rebounds and 3 steals Nick's had a scary situation too but
let's take a look at PG as well started the third quarter Started the third quarter, Jalen Brunson left the game
with an ankle injury, came back finished with 18 points, 5-6.
See Josh Hart? Man, goddamn, man.
I love a basketball player.
5-16.
Fuck, I love a basketball player.
Can't shoot cut.
So, OG and Inouye led the Knicks with 24.6 boards.
Cat had another solid game with 21 points, 13 rebounds,
six assists.
Cut. Look at that cut!
Look at that cut! That's basketball! Yeah, In rebounds, 6 assists. Cut. Look at that cut. Look at that cut.
That's basketball.
Yeah, no.
Look at that cut.
Josh Hart messed around, dropped a triple-double,
finishing with 14 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists.
Hey, Josh Hart.
Six Knicks players scored in double figures in the win
as they improved to 5-5 on the season.
Sixers have now lost six of their last seven games,
one and four at home this season.
Let's talk first about former MVP Embiid.
First game action this season.
Like I said, looked a little rusty, but in your opinion,
how did Joel Embiid look in his Sixers debut?
Choose your words wisely, kid.
So, wait, what did you say?
How did he look?
What did you say he looked?
That's my opinion. Oh, okay.
I thought that was like... I merely hugged. As you know,
you do not pay me to offer opinions.
Read the scripts.
Keep things organized. Make sure the
Chick-fil-A is poison free.
He look like he's just
he's gearing up. That's what he look
like. Gold medal, baby.
Gold medal, right? So in my eyes, right?
He's getting off that gold medal Russ man and getting ready for this. I told you if they want a gold medal, they are not
Being talked about bad on this show for me
Right he had his moments you're just getting the rust off. You know, he's been celebrating all summer.
Right? You know, his first game.
He'll be back to beat.
Give him some time.
The fact that he got to the free throw line eight times is very impressive.
You got to stop babying these dudes.
Who?
The refs?
The refs? The refs?
Or people who talk about these dudes?
This Rust and all this other shit, he's supposed to have 40 and 22.
Is he?
Hell yeah.
First game back?
Yes.
Your first game back from injury last year, what'd you have?
Can you bring up that?
What did he have?
I think he had, like, 28...
and, like, 9.
Pull it up right now before you shot.
Something crazy.
Like, we didn't expect that.
Fresh off with it with the big-ass knee brace
and fat as hell, all that.
Killing him.
All of a sudden, you get, what's stopping you?
Oh, he was in a little groove before he got hurt.
Stop it. So after you missed that extended time and came back towards the end of the season
Uh, I think what back in April's game back first game 24 24 and what I think what six rebounds
29 29 a second game 30 and 12 30 and 12, the third game. 37 and 11. Yeah, yeah. That's what I'm talking about. What do you have, 13 and what?
See, remember, he didn't go through, like, he...
Like, we got to just assume that...
He didn't go through training camp.
He didn't train. He didn't go through training camp.
He didn't go through no preseason.
But he didn't.
13 points, three rebounds, five assists.
Didn't.
He didn't go through training camp.
We're not getting no answers why.
Because he was hurt.
Tell me why.
So he didn't train in training camp.
Not telling us he was hurt. He didn't train in preseason, so... They didn't tell us after the Olympics he was hurt. Tell me why. So he didn't train in training camp. Not telling us he was hurt.
He didn't train in pre-season, so...
They didn't tell us after the Olympics he got hurt.
His last basketball was in Olympics, basically.
That was in July.
They didn't tell us after the Olympics he had surgery.
Again.
We don't know.
He just probably had a little...
13 and 8 is not acceptable, MVP.
13 points, 3 rebounds.
Well, he's not really...
By no means...
He's not in that conversation this season.
By no means.
No way.
Whoa, eight.
Eight.
Eight rebounds?
He had three.
Three rebounds, five assists.
We can go into that.
13, three, and five assists.
We can go down there.
He had eight free throws.
It's a little rough down there.
26 minutes?
Uh-huh.
Yeah, nah.
Nah, we're not having that.
And he had to chase Big Purr around.
New media, man.
We not letting none of these dudes off no more.
You get paid way too much money for three rebounds.
You done played 26 minutes.
You ain't running up and down, giving it your all.
I don't want to hear it, man.
Shaq was very critical of him being last night.
And he's supposed to be.
He's always critical of me.
We're just saying, you missed all this time.
You come back, and you looking like this.
You're supposed to be energized, ready to go.
I missed all this time.
What does that mean, though?
Nah. Be ready to go. Przinga's going to look energized, ready to go. I missed all this time. What does that mean, though?
Nah.
Be ready to go.
Prozinga's going to look good when he come back.
I bet you that.
Who?
Prozinga's.
That first game?
First game, like he did when he came back in the playoff.
First game.
Killed him.
It's easy to come back to a team that's winning.
Nah, it's not.
He's coming back to something.
That's the hardest thing to do because you don't want to fuck up the win.
No, because it's good energy, good vibes. Nah. Can you imagine coming back to that shit? You can only go up or keep going down one way to go
There's not it's about it. Oh see who said that Shaq said that oh
No, it's crazy. No, no, I'm just looking okay. Go ahead. Go got hurt. It's that man. He got hurt.
They always...
It's that man.
February 2nd, 97.
He had 24-6.
And then he only missed three games.
Two games.
Shaq, I'm not participating in this right here.
He talking about...
And then he had 12 points in that gamean 12 and four rebounds in eight minutes
And that's impressive
All I see was six percent and I didn't see eight minutes over I gotta keep looking come just keep looking don't That's like, I got nothing to do with this. Let me try it again.
That was a fail.
Good try.
Good try.
That was horrible before he started.
I don't know what he's talking about.
That was a horrible fail right there.
So, obviously, Sixers made a big splash this offseason.
I think they only had, what, two guys under contract heading into free agency,
but got PG.
We're expecting that big threeer, PG, Maxine, and Bede,
to be special, do something.
Like I mentioned, I had been in Philly this summer,
in the fall as well, talked to some Sixers fans.
They were not rolling, because they said,
dudes get hurt way too much.
They were not excited about it.
The Sixers big three yet to play a game together this season,
but how many games do you think that their Sixers big three
will actually play together
this regular season?
Well, you're taking away all the back-to-backs, right?
And the front-to-backs, too.
So he's not playing tonight.
Nope.
So how many back-to-backs do teams usually have?
I think they have 15 or 16 this year.
Okay, so you take away 15.
How many games is that?
Oh, since they already missed?
So he's already missed.
He's already missed.
So he already missed, so he can't win no award if he sticks to the...
If he sticks to the script.
If he sticks to the script.
They'll play...
20.
I said 30.
If they play 20 or 30, they can't win the championship.
Yeah, they may.
Oh, absolutely.
Minimum 25. They don't even make the playoffs. Minimum 25. 30, they can't win the championship. Oh, absolutely not.
Minimum 25.
They don't even make the playoffs.
Minimum 25.
It reminds me of Suns last year.
They're worse.
They're worse than the Suns last year. Yeah, they're worse than the Suns last year.
It does look nasty right now.
Is the Big Three formula proven to be a disaster?
Not as successful.
But then again,
I think we're only two for ten. Who was the
first big three?
The first big three?
Going back to the 80s?
No, no, no. 2010.
The first assembled big three.
Not like
two different players are coming.
There was a big four with the Lakers.
Or like Gary Payton and Shaakers Yeah, like Gary Payton and I mean
And free agency or demand
But that's the I mean I was a big boy, but they were old and as the Miami he so now before okay So the real big three that came together as a big three would have been Boston
I'll sell the first one. That was the first one that was like
KG came
and Ray Allen came.
That was considered.
That was the birth of the big three.
And then they went and duplicated
it and won again down there
in Miami. Good move.
We haven't seen it since.
Warriors, I think.
No, that's not a big three. They made that.
Yeah, just one person came.
Yeah.
That person was particularly important.
Two people come.
Okay.
Only one person came.
Yeah.
Well, Cavs.
With the K-Love.
K-Love.
Kyrie was already there.
Because Shaq and K-Love came.
Kyrie was already there.
Know what I'm saying?
But no, Kyrie's there, but, I mean not Shaq, but LeBron and K-Love came.
Yep.
For that champion.
Yeah. Okay. K-Love came. Kyrie was already there. You know what I'm saying? But no, Kyrie's there, but, I mean, not Shaq, but LeBron and K-Love came.
Yep.
For that championship.
Yeah, so that...
After Wiggins, they traded Wiggins.
They traded Wiggins,
so those two guys...
So LeBron got three rings
LeBron has been part of two of them.
He's been part of two of the three.
Player empowerment.
And there's three,
probably three...
What do you say?
One of the best players
to ever play is Ben Carter.
And now Mike, three for nine.
The ones that failed is because of injury.
It's not because they didn't...
It's the injury that fucked them up.
Like, the Nets.
That was all injury.
Like, Chris Paul, James Harden, and Dwight Howard.
Big three.
Fail.
When did that happen?
Dwight wasn't that bad.
Dwight Howard, Kobe Bryant, and...
Steve Nash.
That was a fail.
Kyrie, KD, Harden, I mean...
That was an injury, too.
That was...
PG Mello, PG Mello, and Westbrook.
Fail.
PG, Kawhi, Harden.
Yep.
Shit, Durant, Harden, Kyrie.
PG, yeah.
Fail.
Which one?
Harden.
Brooklyn, right?
Harden, Irving, and... Yeah, see, injuries fucked that one. Fail. Which one? Harden. Brooklyn, right? Harden, Irving, and AD.
Yeah, see, injuries fucked up.
Fail.
Like I said, when a big three fails, it's just they get injured.
It's not because they're playing together and they're there and it just didn't work.
Is it because they don't put the right supporting cast together?
LeBron, AD, Caruso, did work.
Hardest membership in NBA history. What you mean, ADMarcus cousins. No white Howard. No, no Caruso
We
We'll give it this Caruso. He was the heart and soul heart. So black lives matter for black lives matter on the back of the jersey
Let's not forget. No, but I not forget what a frickin time. Let's not forget Alex Caruso. Boogie Cousins was on that team.
Respect.
Like people say, Cleveland's not a big three.
Technically, in the standard of what a big three is, actually they were.
Right?
Who Kevin Love was at that time.
Yeah.
And who LeBron was at that time.
Coming from Miami.
Coming from Miami.
One's coming from Minnesota.
Off a 30-30 game.
Yeah.
So they're coming to Miami.
That is considered a big three.
Yeah.
Right?
You know, that's who that was.
Like, just like you say,
Bosh and LeBron going to Miami is a big three.
So you have big three.
You can't even say who was better than the Miami team.
Kevin Love going to Miami.
When Kevin Love went to Cavs and Bosh going to Miami,
who was better at that moment in time?
I would say Bosh.
Because CB4 was fresh off of Toronto.
He just needed a new place.
But he was averaging 24 and 11.
His Bosh was a beast in Toronto.
I think 24 and 10.
So, yeah, 24 and 10. Chris Bosh was a beast in Toronto. I think. 24 and 10. 24 and 10, Bosh.
And May Love was probably averaging like 26 and 12.
So he was better.
26 and 12.
It was different.
It was different, though.
26 in the West.
Minnesota.
But it was different.
The game was different.
The rosters were different.
Second team.
The crowd was different.
CB had a different, like, he was in Toronto with Colteron, bro.
Like, it was ISO game.
It was like, he could do what he want.
And then you look at K-Love.
He was with Pekovic and Shev and all these.
No name.
Like, he was doing, like.
And then when he left.
30-30.
He had 30-30.
But when he left, he was never the same guy.
No, never the same guy.
Bosh actually contributed similar to his numbers.
No.
See, when Bosh left, he was just an all-star.
When Kevin Love left, he was second team all-NBA.
Mm.
Shout out to Kevin Love.
He was technically the second best power forward in the game when he went there.
To Cleveland?
But that was after
Bosh and them was gone, though, right?
No, I'm saying when Bosh left,
who was he when Kevin Love?
So Kevin Love was a better version
of Bosh when he teamed up with...
Yeah, I agree.
I put that better version of Bosh, yeah.
So, yeah, so when people
talking about, like, you know, Miami,
I mean, fucking...
I don't know, I think
the big three experienced it.
But the Miami one was more important because there was more pieces that went.
Oh, there's more pressure on them.
No, you had, what's the name, too, who went?
Ray Allen.
Mike Miller.
Mike Miller was there, too.
Mike Miller.
Rashard Lewis was there, too.
No, during that year?
Yeah.
No, the year that they, the first year they lost.
Right?
Mike Miller was there.
Mike Miller was a... he, he was a.
And then Mike Miller and Ray Allen then came.
And then the third year, Rashard Lewis was there.
Wait, did, did.
Back down memory lane.
I know.
Did, what's the name go there too?
That's a nice name.
That same summer?
Who?
Was Shane Battier there already?
Yes, yes.
Or he came there?
No, he was there.
He was there.
So, yeah, so that's.
That was a super team.
That was a super team. That was he was there. He was oh, yeah, so that was a super that was a super that was a super just
Average to they put that team to that
team so when you
Be talking about the big three the pieces that came with them was no fucking slot like New York offered a Mike Miller big-ass
Contract he turned it down. Yeah.. So he was a big free agent.
Yep, yep.
And then they took LeBron's chocolate chip cookies and the rest of it.
I think Eddie went with Ray.
It was Eddie House and Ray Allen came to Miami.
Following you, yep.
So we asked the chat, how many games will the Sixers' big three play together?
We gave them four options, less than 10, 10-24, 25-39, or 40-plus.
61% they will play somewhere in the range of 25 to 39 games together.
Yeah. That's about right.
Oof. I doubt it.
Let's talk a little bit more about Embiid.
Embiid has previously said he probably won't play back-to-backs.
Miami. Nope, nope, nope, nope.
We not gonna do that to you, Boston.
Miami, when Shaq went, was the first.
I said that.
I forgot that team.
I said that.
D-Wade, Antoine Walker.
Gary Payton.
Gary Payton.
Jason Williams.
Yeah, they all came.
Posey.
Even though they came different.
Lonzo Mourning.
Yeah, Shaq came first, and then after Shaq, it was like Gary Payton, Antoine Walker, Posey, all of them came.
Yes.
They was a super team, too.
That was a super team.
Now, when you talk about probably one of the best teams assembled by who the people were, out of 15 players, 12 of those guys were once lottery picks.
Man.
Fucking lottery picks. That was a stacked team. That was a stacked team.
So how come they shouldn't make teams together like that now?
Huh?
They tried, but people lazy.
Why can't they make teams like that?
It should be easier, because y'all got money now.
We had so much talent in the league back then.
You could have a super team and everybody still have their same team.
We're looking over there like, yeah, they're simple.
They're simple.
Okay, cool.
We're still going to play them, though.
Now it's like if you did that now, you wouldn't have no other.
It would be like, who's on those teams?
That's what I'm saying.
I feel like the talent now, I mean, I think everybody's talented,
but it's like everybody is so spread out now.
It's thin.
And they're not playing.
It's, let's say, okay, so this summer, who teamed up?
PG.
PG going to Philly.
Okay, back then, PG going to Philly would have made someone irritated, right?
Yeah.
Let's say Bucks.
Like, oh, shit, they look like they're in front of us now.
We got to go sign someone.
Yeah.
That's when they would have been like, all right, look, we don't know about Middleton.
Hey, Clay, you want to come here?
That's how that would have happened.
Big time.
A big move.
That would have been like those teams that were competing with them. Like what New York did and what Minnesota did would have triggered other teams that's supposed to be in that same realm to level up.
Now I win a championship.
I don't need to level up.
We the champs.
That's not how that works.
That's what they call making moves in the offseason.
You make that move, you force another team to make another.
You're like, oh, no, we can't.
I just feel like every year it's like less and less. The Celtics brought their guys back to on set, kept that crew intact. Offseason you make that move you force another team to make another like oh, no, we can't
Something just brought their guys back to I'm saying kept that kept that crew intact. That's what I'm saying like cool They might have an advantage
But someone else that was chasing like yeah, we are far behind
We need to make improvements to the catch up to them and you would say the Sixers on paper and in theory
May move yeah and stood to catch up to them. And you would say the Sixers on paper and in theory... Made moves, yeah.
They did.
On paper, looked just as impressive as Boston.
Yet, on paper, it don't because you got injury prone.
You're looking at being available.
Well, speaking of availability, Embiid has previously said
he probably won't play back-to-backs for the rest of his career.
But after the game, he had this to say
about playing against the undefeated Cavs tonight.
Do you expect to play tomorrow?
I mean, I want to.
That's up to those guys.
I mean, I know I said I would never play back-to-backs,
but I'm a troll, so I'm sure at some point I'll play.
But I feel good.
I feel good right now.
We're going to see.
But it's up to them.
You said it's up to them, but how much will you try to lobby
to try to play?
I can do whatever I want.
But, you know, obviously ultimately that's a decision.
So I'm just going to leave it up to them.
But, you know, I'll be pushing.
Joe, would it be satisfactory to hand Cleveland their first loss of the season?
Oh you'll be fine. That's one of the more reasons you know why I want to be out there but like I said it's not my decision.
So Embiid said it's up to them, them meaning the Sixers and they said go ahead and sit your ass on the bench.
So a few hours ago it was announced
that both Embiid and PG will not play against the Panthers.
So therefore...
I'm so sorry, Sixers fans.
No, media, y'all need to apologize to these players
by running with that fucking narrative of...
They don't want to play.
They don't want to play.
They are, you know pre-Madonna's
right and I tried to warn
you motherfuckers a long time
that all players want to
fucking play it's just part of our
engine the only way these guys
are sitting is because someone's telling them to
he let you know right there
I want to play it's up
to them
like he didn't come up with here I'm not
gonna play back-to-back I'm not gonna know he said he said he was trolling
it's like your mind but like I said for him to even throw it out there someone
already gave him like we're not gonna pay you back Louie well that was that
was and the media calls to the hey don't answer too much don't say too much yeah
well I think that was coming from Maury and Nick nurse like like we said the media quotes too. Like, hey, hey, don't answer too much. Don't say too much.
I think that was coming from Maury and Nick Nurse.
Like we said previously,
Nick Nurse implored
that strategy with Kawhi
when he was in Toronto.
I don't think Kawhi
played back-to-back
that season.
They went on
to win the championship.
And who said it?
So Nick Nurse,
when he was the coach
of the Raptors.
So Nick Nurse.
That's how they...
Not Kawhi.
Nick Nurse.
Just, okay.
So I'm sure
they got to have
these here like,
yo, we did this
with Kawhi.
What I'm asking is, how the fuck did the media turn it on the players?
Well, most of the media is haters.
I'm just wondering, how did you turn it on the players when you know when Pop was doing it, that's coming from Pop? from pop. Right? You think a player who's not going to play is going to get on a fucking plane
and fly fucking five hours
to a city
to then say,
I don't even want to play.
Yeah, I ain't going to play.
Like, no, dog.
We would have said
that shit all,
but I ain't going to hurt
a son.
I'm going to stay
fucking right here.
So that means we got there.
We about to get ready
to play like,
yeah, we're going to
sit y'all today.
It's a TNT game.
Nah, we good.
They're playing the Cavs, right? The doctors don't know what games to sit you out. No the doctors right the doctor I don't know. I was gonna sit you out on Tuesday. We're gonna make sure you're good. That is coming from the coach
I can see a world. This is crazy. I know and pack me up if I'm wrong
I can see a world where the Sixers beat the Cavs tonight. It's on some random shit. Nah, they packed
You know what the Cavs are just on some random shit. Nah, they packed up. You know what? The Cavs are going undefeated.
I don't truly believe it.
Watch.
They going undefeated.
They going to break all the barriers.
It's a new day for Cleveland.
It's a new day in Cleveland.
It's a new day.
12-0.
12-0.
Yeah, shout out to my homie
Marcus Collins, man.
He's Cleveland in the building.
He said someone,
he can play if he want.
No, the fuck he can't.
That's what I'm saying.
If he decides to come out,
suit up,
what are they going to find him?
Hey, they're not going to put him,
and then they're not going to put him in the game.
They're not going to put him in the game.
They're not going to put him in the game.
You're not starting,
like, I'm writing the story.
I'm writing the story.
Okay, well, if he really wants to make that known
that it's not him,
he need to suit up.
Suit up.
And just sit.
Yeah, suit up.
I told you my starting five.
First of all, your jersey's not in the locker. Not in your locker.
Don't even try it.
Don't even try that.
No warm-up, no shoes.
Everything goes.
The fuck she thinks she's hot?
No, none of that's in the locker.
You ain't got a chance. You know how fucked up
you know, like, let him go to the
training, the equipment manager and get that uniform. Oh, oh, oh, no. He's fired. You know how fucked up you know like let him go to the training the
Equipment manager and get that uniform. Oh, oh, oh no he's fired fired
Shit you gotta go like oh
Cuz I still think even when he says things like that people do not believe that it's not him So he has to do something crazy
He already said it publicly he just are still not But people are still not going to believe that.
No, you have to at this point.
But, like, you can sit on that bench like, yeah, coach, I'm ready.
Walk right past you.
Yeah, so then now everyone's going to be like, oh, he was telling the truth.
He's already grabbed it.
I'm going to give you a grab to coach you.
You can't sit up on this bench and not want to play.
Trust me.
You got to put, hey, we look stupid sitting there thinking we about to play.
And they'll fuck around and do some shit like, end of the game?
Hey, you want to play?
Get in.
Get in.
That's fucked up.
Uh-huh.
One minute left.
You be sitting there like, nah.
I'm good.
I'm good, man.
Right now, come on in.
At that point, are you saying I'm good?
Go to him, big fella.
Guess who watching?
Everybody.
Yep.
See, you don't want to play.
I'm good.
Look, he's like, nah. Get you right where he's saying. Nah you don't want to play. I'm good. He's like, nah.
Get you right where you're saying.
They're taking a picture.
I'm good.
And B rejects going in.
They helped the team win.
Narrative play.
Narrative Nancy.
Yep.

But let's go back to Embiid.
So considering the time he's already missed so far this season
and him saying he's focused on bringing the championship to Philly,
do you expect Embiid to play back-to-backs at some point this season or do you expect the team to say no?
But then I went in championship this year. So what he wanted me he hope optimistic
Nope he's no, I mean, yeah, I expect him to play back-to-back says
At this point it's forced
They're so far down where if you're trying to make the playoffs, you're gonna have to
put the Blacks to...
Black to Blacks?
I got hiccups.
The hiccups is crazy.
Yeah, we know this.
You're bad childish.
It's not.
Oh?
Grown men don't get the hiccups, girl, you know that.
Grown men don't get the hiccups.
No grown men who get the hiccups.
Where you get the hiccups from?
Where you get the hiccups from?
Where you get the hiccups?
Where you get the hiccups?
I was drinking this, went down the room. I still don't know what roomie, who you get them from. Where you get the hiccups? How you get that? I was drinking this, went down the room.
I still don't know what it is.
Yeah.
All right, y'all finish.
Let me go ahead and fix this.
Fix the hiccups?
How do you fix the hiccups?
How do you fix the hiccups?
You better hold your breath.
How do you fix the hiccups?
I'm going to go back.
You're a little kid.
Hold your breath in your nose.
You know the secrets.
He's so childish.
But, so, while Gill is addressing... While Gil is addressing his hiccup,
Gil is currently off stage right now,
just a few feet away,
holding his breath in his nose,
getting rid of the hiccup.
We have...
Gil, we have contacted the Sixers medical team.
They said they need you to sit out.
Sit out.
Sit out.
You can't do the show tomorrow.
Did you hear how deep in his breath he took it? Gil is in the hiccup corner of the arena. Sit down. Sit down. You can't do the show tomorrow.
Not the hiccup corner.
Gil is in the hiccup corner of the arena.
I'm busy.
I'm busy.
The hiccup corner.
I ain't never seen him. And B will play back-to-backs at some point.
He's going to have to, right?
If they're serious about being a contender,
we've already talked about this big three not getting
potentially enough time out there. And now he's throwing shots. Steph disapproved.
Throwing shots at his management and coaching staff.
I respect that. If he really want to play that bad, I respect it. But if he's just...
He got the thin neck right now. He looking like he in shape. He got the
Ozempic neck. He look like he... Remember we said he look kind of like he was frustrated?
He won't play
And not beyond restrictions
Many restriction. I mean no one I give her to give him the back-to-backs or take him off the minutes restriction having him
Yeah, both is kind of like yeah
We had Dwight on this couch and he said he would like to see him play more games, less minutes.
If you truly don't care about individual awards and all that stuff, be available for your team.
Better off doing that than maxing out on minutes and not playing.
Yeah, but they're not even doing either. It's 26 minutes.
Yeah.
And that means you lose by what, three?
I think they lost that game by 12, but they took them out with tons of time left in the fourth quarter.
Three was about the team. Okay.
Yeah, tons of time left in the fourth quarter. Three was that team. Yeah, tons of time left in the fourth quarter.
Well, let's talk about the Knicks now.
Obviously, Jalen Brunson with the ankle injury.
We'll see what his status is moving forward.
They got a game against the Bulls tonight.
But Carl Anthony Towns starting to find.
Bet you he plays.
Huh?
Bet you he plays.
He tough.
Yeah, he's a tough.
Carl Anthony Towns starting to find his fit with this Knicks squad.
In his last four games, Cat has averaged 29 points, 12 rebounds, 3 assists,
scored 30 or more in three of those four games.
So far this season, Cat's averaging close to 17 shot attempts per game,
second on the team behind Jalen Brunson's nearly 19 attempts per game.
But do you like Cat or Brunson as the Knicks' number one option?
Brunson.
For sure. And I think that's how it plays out. Cat plays good off the ball.
Second option, no pressure. He needs that. He needs that. He needs that for his confidence.
And I think in an OB and everybody else falls right in line, they don't want to even be one,
two or three. They just want to be running around, picking up loose balls and just diving around and shit. So you got a bunch of guys who going to play
their part. So I think we'll get momentum from here. We'll get some momentum. Cat's
numbers going to go up because he's rebounding now. He wasn't rebounding in Minnesota. But
the reason why is because he don't got Rudy down there eating all the rebounds.
Like, he can go get it.
Eating all the baguettes.
All the pigs, man.
I think right now, I'm going to say it.
I think Cat should be the number one option.
Uh-oh.
I think it would take a lot of pressure off of Brunson
carrying the team.
Right?
It's like the Shaq-Kobe style, right?
You know, Shaq is option one, one through three, five, six minutes left in the game,
and goes to Kobe.
Right?
And I think that's how this one should be.
You know, we're going to use Towns.
As long as he's getting in Roland, use him.
I'll find my way,
keep myself involved.
But majority of the shots
is going to go to him.
And then in the last
four or five minutes,
you know,
I get to take over.
But do you think
if Brunson does, like,
relinquish that number one option,
like all his accolades
and all-stars,
that's going to
maybe go away?
No, we know what he does. Well, yeah, but I think there's so many other guards, too,
that do a lot.
And then Cat, he gets those nods as the 1B
or the second option, I think.
I think this would be the...
Brunson had to do so much to find...
We also know Brunson sacrificed a lot of his bread in free agent.
That's why with this team it shouldn't be a 1A, 1B thing.
They both should be able to do their thing throughout the whole game.
Like what he's saying is Cat being 1 through 3, go to Cat, right,
and then Brunson come through, take us home.
But that's not the Brunson we know.
We know Brunson 1 through 3, and we'll figure it out in the fourth.
Right?
So if they come through
together for the first time
like Darren Williams
and Carlos Boozer
came through
one through four,
we doing this
all game long.
I just feel like
they have the personnel
for them both to
do the thing
the whole game.
All game long.
We ain't got to figure out
who going to take
the last shot to the end.
We know who's going to take the last shot. I end. We know who's going to take the last shot.
I'm just saying.
Brunson will have the ball.
But if they fuck around and try to double me and do something tricky, I'm hot still.
Right.
I still got my rhythm.
We're not alienating each other based on quarters and who can do what.
Let's just get it going throughout the game.
Play together for the first time because usually it's like this.
It's like Shaq or Kobe, one or the other, we're going to take it home.
I'm going to lead us through.
But I think this is the first team I've seen with New York
where they can actually do that.
They can play together throughout the whole game.
They got other guys that can step up too.
I know they still got some injury issues.
But Cat got to stay out of fouls.
Like right now, Brunson leads the team in shot attempts,
but Towns leads them in scoring.
Right?
Right, so Towns shooting 52% from the field, 51% from the three.
That's great.
That's great.
That's what I'm saying.
So right now, he should be.
He should be. Let's feed him more frequently. Yes, while he's great. So that's I'm saying so right now he should be sure
Let's just eat them. Let's feed a lot more frequently. Yes while he's hot
So that's what I said. It's a 1a 1b and it's just it's just gonna flip-flop
But you know starting the game off I will be feeding Towns now think about it if Towns gets those fouls
Right and now we're in a penalty now
You know Brunson is gonna be an attack man
So he don't gotta hit get hit as much as he used to those two threes. He made were in the first like
Minute and a half of the game. Yeah, and then he didn't make it anymore
So say yeah, you gotta get him. Gotta get him going early get going quick
He can help you separate the game early if he gets hot if he gets hot. Yeah, yes, there's a Brunson Brunson
Doesn't lose confidence right right no matter
Like we've watched we've watched him carry his team to the playoffs to the second round, right?
So we know he doesn't lack confidence. So I'll rather have
Him as a second option feed cat keep confidence high, and then you take over.
If he don't have it today, do you.
But if you're doing you and then he's missing and he's not involved, you can lose him as a player.
And think about New York, how they play early.
You can find out if Cat kind of got the hot hand or not.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Like, let's see the first three minutes what you got, big fella.
All right, we not hitting nothing. Brunson, turn it on. Turn it on, Brunson, turn it on. We'll go back what you got big fella are we not get hit nothing Bronson turn it on
I'm running Bronson turn on we'll go back to you at the beginning of the third
Pick up the pieces pick up the people run the block one more time
Obviously Bronson controlling the ball. He always has the option to get the cook when he feels like it. Yeah, that's needed
And I control when you can cook as well, Cat, but...
Yeah, he's a closer.
If you think about the pick and pop with them two,
who does control what on the pick and pop?
Are they switching that with them two?
How they playing their pick and pop?
I don't know.
Are they leaving him open?
I think it depends on who...
He got to stop.
Slow rotation.
He got to slow rotation.
I'm not putting the big guy on Brunson dog
so what are you doing
are they drop showing that
trying
and they're not
letting him shoot the three
who which one
Brunson
Brunson coming off
the pick and pop
with Cat
it's like a
some sag
some try to switch
is he throwing it back
to Cat
so Cat
Cat's now
making the decision
Cat
yeah Cat is actually
going and going.
Boom, boom, boom. So they're not rotating, full rotating, they're getting back to him.
Uh-uh.
So think about who's at fault in that pick and roll. Brunson doesn't get to do what he gets to do
because he has to throw back to Cat on that. So their pick and pop is always going to benefit Cat.
Yeah, of course.
Always.
Yeah. Whenever I wanted to shoot
Antoine
He'll go pick a row and an obi before yeah, oh so far
Yeah, so if he wants to shoot the ball, he's gonna do with og and yeah
Yeah, if it's the ball is cuz back then they're gonna try the hard show, but it's a hard show get back
So it's gonna be like yeah nobody I've never I don't know a single hard show this time yeah
they don't hard show anymore years that's so crazy they going under Steph
curry and a pick and roll you know they cook that's so sad. Disappointing. Trust me, I've played where we're guarding Steve Nash,
and our game plan was to go over and sag.
Yeah, so he's going downhill.
Yeah, because he's not doing the old John Stockton,
go all the way to the free throw line, set it.
Now, you know what I mean?
You have this angle.
He's coming already downhill at an angle.
So that pick, he's sitting here like this,
and then now you got, you know, the Energizer Bunny coming down the lane
trying to dunk on everybody.
Sean Mayer.
No, Omari.
Omari, the other one.
The other one, yeah, the other one.
He's on the baseline, yeah.
Energizer.
Oh, yeah, Energizer Bunny, he. The other one. The baseline. He on the baseline, yeah. Energizer. Oh, yeah.
Energizer.
He's sitting there just.
Tiptoes.
Yeah!
Like, so.
And then, you know, if you kind of stop Steve Nash or I get hit by the pick, he's shooting.
It's like, well, trap him.
I just trap.
I don't give a fuck if Amari dunks.
My man don't score.
Never happened.
Ain't no trapping.
There's only one defense right now in pick and roll that's just...
Switch.
It's benefiting all the guards because you get to snake it,
and you get to kind of dictate how you pass or shoot.
But defensively, if you ever played defense in the NBA
and you actually like playing defense,
watching the NBA now will piss you off.
It will piss you off.
It will piss you off. You know the only person They will piss you off. They will piss you off.
You know the only person who got trapped,
and I was like, whoa, Dame.
Yeah, Dame.
They'll trap Dame.
They will trap Dame.
And when they do trap him.
Because Giannis wouldn't roll.
So because Giannis wouldn't roll and Giannis is popped,
they was like, you can pop.
We're going to trap him.
He pass it back to you.
Then we can all just load up.
And when there are traps, they're like random.
Like, they'll just run at them.
Yeah. And then you can see it. Like, they just sit them. You'll be are traps, they're like random. Like, they'll just run at them. Yeah.
And then you can see it.
Like, they just sit them.
You'll be like, oh. Yeah, go.
Yeah.
What the fuck?
Yeah, it was the only one
because Giannis didn't roll.
Like, you can't trap Murray.
You can't do that.
Like, you got Jokic back there.
Like, you said the pick.
Oh, y'all gonna trap?
Thank you.
But gotta go.
You can't trap Maxie.
Right?
There's some guards you can't trap
because they have players that know actually how to play.
You know what's nasty, too?
They don't teach one-on-one defense.
They don't teach them guys to keep a guy in front of you.
Oh, what?
Even post-defense.
Post-defense, think about why people are afraid to guard Joker.
How do you fucking guard him?
You don't know the first thing to do to guard that man.
You don't know how to guard him.
This way, this way.
I can't do this.
Hopefully he's...
You're like, well, what do we do?
He's like, well, he know you don't know what to do.
And that was the funny part.
Okay, so the hand check, right?
People didn't know the hand check that they all talk about
is not the hand check that this one hand, that's not that.
There was a double hand hand check before
where you get to play defense like this, right? That was the one. hand check that this one hand that's not there there was a double hand hand check before where
you get to play defense like this right that was the one yeah we can keep everybody out of the
middle because we get to do this yeah right that's when people talk about they need to bring the hand
check back and they're thinking this was the hand check that they're talking about that was
irrelevant it's it was this one right 60s and 70s usually use the two hands so you in the post
i get to just hold you here. Yeah.
You got no moves.
You got no moves.
That is wild to honestly think about.
You know, you watch the game and people don't understand the nuance.
Well, now, yeah.
Because now when so many of the bigs face up now,
when you face up,
the post rules are gone.
Yeah, post rules.
You can't touch them.
We also didn't have bigs shooting threes.
But now, if you know the rules, like, okay, I can touch you when you got your back to me.
When you turn and face, I have to.
No contact.
That's why I said somebody like Wimby.
Like, why you think we couldn't stop Tim Duncan?
He's going to sit here, do this.
You sit here trying to do this, and he go right over that.
Yeah, you're too close.
Yeah, you're too close.
So he has all of this to do, whatever he wants, in a small space.
So, Wimby, post, turn and face every time.
Turn and face.
Now you can easy shot, one dribble, whatever.
It doesn't... That comes with experience, though.
Think about how rattled a young kid's brain is when they catch the ball on the post.
Are they trying to go?
Every time.
There's no patience.
So if you're down there, right, and I learned this early on,
when you're down there, take your time.
Take two deep breaths when you catch it.
I ain't in no rush.
Calm down.
When you're teaching it, you got to tell them that too
because they ready to turn and go, right?
Nobody's around you.
Calm down.
Wait till they get out.
All right, now go to work.
And when you tell them to go to work,
then they start trying to open their bag,
but if you ain't telling them,
Wimpy ain't going,
he can just go,
I got it.
He's going to travel.
Nah, man, calm down.
Clear out.
All right,
I'm going to take my time.
Oh, okay.
I got five more little...
Just put it up.
I got five more...
As soon as you do this,
all defense is now on... Oh, you ain't going... I don't know what's going on. You ain't going back door. I'm not getting back door as soon as you do this all defense is now on the oh, there's you know, I don't know what's gonna go back door
I'm not getting back door soon as he hey start starting
Doing this and start doing this yo, man like oh, yeah, just the best feeling
Who started who started doing that first
Back then who we first seen do that in the catch it in the post. I
Mean Vladi.
Michael Jordan.
MJ.
Michael Jordan.
Vladi de-boxes to do it.
And then he hits you with the dribble, pass, fade away.
All those things came from the post.
Vladi, Chris Webber.
Chris Webber.
All of them.
Like, when they had the ball in the post, that's when you actually, as a guard, had to play defense.
Facts.
Oh, shit.
Bump cuts.
Yeah, yeah, you got bump cuts.
He's back doing his flash.
Coach hate when you switch.
What you switching for?
You lazy.
Mm-hmm.
Coaches hate switching.
We used to.
They used to.
Used to.
What?
Hated.
If you switch, you were lazy.
You was a lazy player.
You were the laziest player ever.
Look at you, lazy. Switching. You was the laziest player ever. Look at you, lazy, switching.
It's the laziest thing, and that's all we see is switching.
Yeah, and we don't switch.
Well, speaking of switching... Y'all don't switch?
Not, no.
Not as much as NBA does.
Not nearly as much.
Y'all be getting beat off the dribble a lot.
Slow feed, don't eat. It's not nearly as much. Y'all be getting beat off the dribble a lot.
Slow feet don't eat.
Say, not me.
Say, not me.
Speaking of switching shots, you are currently a Knicks fan.
You used to be a Celtics fan.
You are obviously currently still a Celtics fan.
So let's talk about your Celtics squad.
They also had an NBA Cup game last evening.
Short-handed Hawks pulled up to Boston with Trey Young out with Achilles tendonitis.
Two other starters in Bogdan Bogdan.
Achilles tendonitis?
Achilles tendonitis.
Eesh.
They're also missing two other starters in Bog...
Nasty.
Where did that start?
That's nasty.
It's like tendonitis here and back here.
I never heard of that.
Nasty, boy.
Nasty work. Like, you feel like it's gonna pop, but it's not. Oh, yeah, so he done for a while. It's like tendonitis here and back here. I never heard of that. Nasty, boy. Nasty work.
Like, you feel like it's gonna pop, but it's not.
Oh, yeah, so he done for a while.
It just hurt. Okay, yeah.
He can play, but...
No, you don't play with Achilles.
You don't play that.
So, training out with Achilles tendonitis.
Bogdanovich and DeAndre Hunter still sidelines.
So, that means three other starters were not available.
Damn, Boston.
But they got big games out of Dyson Daniels
and Jalen Johnson to get the upset, thankfully.
Johnson came through with a triple-double, finished with 18 points, 13 rebounds, and 10 assists.
Oh, my God.
In 39 minutes.
That's your Boston court?
I didn't think they could make the courts worse than last year.
They are bad and worse.
That ain't something.
Prove you wrong, Lexi.
They sell you.
Yes, we can.
That doesn't look like something.
That is disgusting. That Lexi. They sell you. Yes, we can. That doesn't look like Celtics. That is disgusting.
That does not look intimidating whatsoever.
It looks like they're at Sky Zone or something.
Sky Zone?
Hey, Sky Zone is kind of baller.
Let's keep it real.
But Dyson Daniels dropped a career-high 28 points,
along with seven assists and six steals.
Daniels has 36 steals through his first 10 games this season,
which is the most since Allen Iverson in 2003.
Jaylen Brown led the Celtics with 37 points and 5 rebounds,
going 14 for 22 from the field.
Jerick White had 31 points, 6 boards and 5 downs,
knocking down 7 of his 12 three-point attempts.
And Jason Tatum had 20.6 rebounds and 8 assists,
but was 5 for 16 from the field, 2 for 9 from 3.
So after the Hawks took a one-point lead on Oyeka Okonwu's tip-in with six seconds remaining, the Celtics had a chance 16 from the field, two for nine from three. So after the Hawks took a one-point lead
on Oyeka Okonwu's tip-in with six seconds remaining,
the Sox had a chance to win the game,
but Jaylen Brown missed a jumper as time expired.
Boston, now three and two at home this season
after losing a total of four home games...
Mm-mm-mm.
...all of last season.
Mm.
Still what? Nine and three still?
Mm-mm-mm.
Still nine and three.
Mm.
So how impressive... Your team is what?
5-5?
Double nickel.
Yeah, same.
Worry about your team over there.
The upper room.
Worry about your team over there.
The upper room.
Worry about your team.
We cool over here.
That was a bad loss.
Very bad.
So I was going to ask,
how impressive was the Hawks' NBA Cup win over the Celtics?
Can I say this?
On record.
Uh-oh.
Well, everything we do is on record.
Jalen Johnson is that guy.
Jalen Johnson.
Dang.
Ew.
He's body bagging.
I swear.
Listen, that kid right there.
Signed a five-year, $150 million deal.
That kid right there, he getting under.
Hey, he's going to be the next one.
Damn, everybody got a back-to-back today?
I like him a lot.
I like him.
If Trey had Bogdanovich and Hunter healthy consistently,
they would make some noise.
But I still think they need some other pieces.
Like, they're not making no moves to try to, like, make a run.
They could get out the first round every now and again,
but Jalen Johnson's probably one of those guys
that's in the wrong place right now.
He's a hooper.
I mean, we talked about that DeJounte Murray trade.
Got Dyson Davis as a result of that trade, so...
Dyson playing good, too, though.
He is.
Nah, he's hooping.
Loading the blicky on bitches.
Where did they trade Murray to?
Oh, Pelicans.
Oh, Pelicans.
Okay.
And he's hurt now.
If you are an opponent of Boston,
you're really considering that, like Cavs,
Cavs, New York,
especially Bucks and Philly,
you have to watch this game to see their weakness.
Their weakness was they, because they're big,
but they're a little team.
See, without Porzingis, they're not a big team.
You're literally talking about a 6-3, 6-3, 1'2". Your 3'4 is actually two small forwards, and then your center, Al Horford, is a power forward
at best, and he can't jump all of 22 feet off the ground.
So if you-
22 inches.
22 inches.
No, I'm saying you're 22 inches. No, I'm saying you're 22 inches.
So if you attack the basket and go for an offensive rebound,
they really not capable.
Like, Boston outshot them from the field.
Outshot them from the three.
Outshot them from the free throw line.
Sure did.
The problem is they had 75 shots.
Hawks had 99 shots.
Well, let's talk about the reason behind that shot differential.
So Hawks dominated the Celtics on the boards.
20 offensive rebounds for the Celtics.
Six has 68 points in the paint with the Celtics only managing 32.
Celtics are allowing 52.2 points in the paint this season,
which is 24th in the league and are scoring just 39.8. We'll give them 40 points in the paint this season, which is 24th in the league, and are scoring just 39.8.
We'll give them 40 points in the paint this season,
which is dead last.
Damn.
Of course, they lead the league in three-point attempts
at nearly 51 per game.
They're taking 51 three-pointers per game.
I think that needs to go down a little bit.
Shooting nearly 36% from deep.
That's a lot of...
This algorithm is not...
The stats are not telling them what they need.
Like, you're shooting 51 threes.
Like back in the 60s, there was no three-point line.
They averaged more than you guys without a three-point line
because that means they're shooting free throws,
which stops the clock so they can put more possessions
into the game.
So the 60s is the real factor, right?
I want layups and free throws.
Because that means people are going to get in foul trouble.
Like, you are literally, like, you shoot 53s and have 116 points.
What's the reward for that?
What?
What's the reward for that?
I don't got to get hurt?
For winning 53s?
Mm-hmm.
The championship.
Something's was something. They won The championship. Are they shooting 50?
They weren't shooting 50 last year.
Whatever they were doing, they're trying to
duplicate whatever got them the chip.
That's called fool's gold.
You got to know what fool's gold is.
They still going to win a lot more
games than they lose.
They're not just jacking up threes.
Celtics are averaging 24 free throw attempts a game.
Good enough for six in the league right now.
Yeah, 24, six.
The only way they're going to crash and burn is if teams stop trying to shoot with them.
But it's not going to work because they still make so many of those.
No, but that's not true.
If you're shooting 50 and even if you're making 25, if I'm just attacking the basket and getting you in foul trouble,
you're not a big team.
So they're shooting 50 and making around 18.5, about 37%.
That's still not enough.
How many points is that?
You literally have to shoot like damn near 60% from the three-point line
for that to actually make sense.
No, but the fear is if I'm making 18 a game on a hot night,
how many am I going to hit on a hot night?
Hot night, you still shooting more.
Like 20 plus.
20 plus, right?
So if our hot nights are more consistent with our cold nights,
if we have 70% hot nights throughout the whole season, we good.
We ain't got nothing to worry about.
We had a couple cold nights where we didn't hit,
but majority of the time, we hitting
20 of these a game.
Now think about how cold we got to be to add free throws to that.
The only thing we don't like about the Celtics is they don't have no structure.
And all them O boards.
That's what I'm saying.
83% from the line as a team.
That's what I'm saying.
You shot eight, you made eight more threes in them, right?
How many more free throws?
Take away half of those O boards.
The game's pretty close.
But you can't.
Second chance points.
Because you can't score.
I mean, you can't rebound.
Second chance points.
So if I'm shooting a bunch of threes, you get the easy rebound.
You're not crashing the boards.
But the fact that they're driving and you small, you can't block shots.
They can just get over the red.
So if you attack them and just say you know what hey listen. We're only gonna shoot about 23s
We're just gonna keep driving. Yeah, but that was New York last year
Harkestan and Josh Hart got all the rebounds
Simply because they allowed the shoot they allowed the other loader shoot themselves out you shoot yourself out
But if you make that's the problem what New York was if we go allow teams to shoot themselves out. Shoot yourself out. But if you make, that's the problem with New York was,
if we allow you to shoot yourself out and you shoot yourself in,
we get penalized for letting you shoot it.
But we're banking on our offensive rebounds and our defensive rebounds.
So that's a risk you got to take.
I mean, you should, if you're shooting 53s, man,
you should be scoring shooting 53s man. You should be scoring 145 150
Imagine giving imagine giving the Phoenix Suns back in a day
53s, what are you losing? You losing Amari coming in or dunking on everybody? Oh, I'm saying
If you're the boss of Celtics, what are you losing?
Not by doing yeah by not shooting going and we're winning going about our buckets
Our formula is we're nine and three doing what we're doing Not shooting? By doing, yeah. By not shooting, going and... We're winning. Going and getting buckets?
Our formula is we're 9-3, doing what we're doing.
If we stop doing it, is it going to make us win more games?
Yes.
So let me just give y'all a little bit of some stats.
I know how we feel about stats on the show.
So Houston Rockets 2018, 2019 Houston Rockets.
2018, 2019.
Most three-pointers per game in a season, they attempted 45.4.
The Celtics taking five more threes per game than that Rockets.
I'm just saying.
They got more three-point shooters on the Boston Celtics team.
They do.
It is crazy watching some of these games.
Some of the threes that these players are shooting are kind of like, what the fuck?
They're in competition with each other. Why are you shooting? Because we're in competition with each other. Like, why are you shooting?
Because we're in competition with each other now.
We all can shoot threes. So now
it's like, oh, he put up two. The worst ones are
if the team gets, like, a really good
stop. Yeah. And then they
just come down and just shoot a random
where you're supposed to get a momentum bucket.
I'm like, what is that? Nasty. Don't like
that. Even though I'm a big
fan of the three-point shooting. Well, I just we just we missed something
They took how many threes last night three fifty forty or something almost fifty three out of
75 shot. Oh you
Then coach
That's what I'm saying, they, they took 45 last night. 45 threes out of 75 attempts.
Yeah, 75.
That's a problem.
Yeah.
That's coaching, man.
That's the thing, because I feel like they can take that many threes,
but you can't take more threes than twos.
No, ever.
And we're plus 14 in free throw differential.
Wait, wait, wait, hold on.
And give up.
Let my math kick in.
Hold on.
Plus 14 in free throw differential as well. And they only lost by one, though. That's the crazy thing. Yeah, they should wait, hold on. And give up 20 off the free throw. Let my math kick in. Hold on. Plus 14 to free throw differential as well.
And they only lost by one, though.
That's the crazy thing.
Yeah, they should have won by 20.
By a tip-in.
That's a 20-point victory.
Even the old boys alone.
So, basically, from layup, if I'm looking at this right,
they were 20 for 25 from layup.
Am I looking at his roster?
Boston.
Boston.
If you take 20 for 25.
Yeah.
No, 20 for 35.
Right?
From inside the arc, right?
If you take away the 75, what, 30 shots?
20 for 30 from two.
20 for 30 from two.
They're not bad.
20 for 30 from two,
and you want to sit here and chuck threes the whole game?
It's great.
What?
20 from 30 from two.
I know.
That's what I'm saying.
So you want to sit here and chuck threes
when you're shooting damn near 67% from layups.
But that's why it works for them,
because they are so good inside the arc. yeah, but that's why that's why it works for them because they are so good
Inside the arc. No, but they
It's not
What I'm saying, it should be the other way around
Like it's a bonus
It's a bonus the tools are bonus for them
They can rely on the three so much and just but I'm saying on the two now think about if you shot
if you shot the ball,
if you're shooting 20 for 30,
and majority of those shots were two-pointers,
you are scoring about 130.
Also, you need to take out, like, 10 to 15 attempts
just from Peyton Pritchard alone,
because that's all he's coming into.
Well, think about his goal.
Think about that.
Think about when you have relegated his role
to just do that.
His last two games, only threes.
If you come in the game and you don't put up seven threes,
I'm not putting you in the game anymore, bro.
You have an obligation.
Like, shoot, shoot, shoot.
But that's coaching again.
That's what I'm saying.
Other teams, you take 10 to 15 of those threes
from, like, four random players
that have no business shooting threes
in the first place, they've relegated
or delegated that to one
guy every game.
He's going to come in and do that. Like right now, Jalen
Brown is probably the hardest person to guard.
Yes. Because everybody
else, you can guard them. Like I
always told kids, don't be guardable
from your stat sheet. Yeah. Like if
I look at your, if I look at the stat sheet and I can tell how you play,
I don't need to watch a game.
I'm like, all right, Pritchard, you took eight shots, eight threes.
Okay, he's a three-point shooter.
When you're going to do all this, I know you're not going to drive either.
You're not driving.
I know you're not driving.
You're not driving at all.
Right?
So, okay, Hauser, same thing.
Same thing.
Right?
Okay, with Tatum, you took 16 shots, 9-3,
so most likely you're going to settle for the three.
Settle.
You know, so if you're above the three-point line and it's 5-4,
I know you're checking that.
Same thing with Al Horford.
You're going to shoot a three.
Holiday, majority of your shots come three.
Derrick White, you're sitting around the three-point line.
Now when it comes to Brown, he took 22 shots, 6-3.
He's the only one that kind of changes it up for them.
Yeah, he don't settle.
He's not going to settle.
He's not going to sit out there checking threes the whole game.
So now whoever's guarding him,
now you have this in-between game you got to play just with him.
Everybody else, I'm like...
Think about why it makes him so dangerous, though.
Like, you got both sides of the ball,
but then he understands that he needs to switch up the game.
You got all the other players on the team shooting threes and relying on that.
So think about live by three, die by three.
If my three ball ain't going in, what am I bringing to the table?
Everybody now slashing and munching around.
Oh, man, my shit ain't going in.
Jalen Brown like, man, I'm going to the line.
I'm going to the cup.
Easy buckets live down there.
What are y'all talking about?
So for Boston. Derek White be began tough buggies, too
Yeah, cuz he's aggressive when he want to be yeah, like like like like even with someone like Luca unless you're shooting this much
Where it's kind of like
Luca took 27 shots 10 or threes
Yeah, so that means 70. Yes 17 shots. He's like he's coming in mixing it up
So that's how it's supposed to look from the start player.
If you look at everybody who averages a lot of points,
they're not sitting at the three-point line the whole time.
Nah.
But there's only one person, there's two people,
that really carried their offense at the three.
That was Steph, Klay, Dame a little bit too.
But for the most part, everyone else mixing up is mid-ranging.
They know you don't want to play defense.
So you want me to settle for the three.
Here's a question.
They're like reverse psychology the mid-range out of people's minds
because now everybody is three or later.
And it's not even three or later.
But the elite are all shooting middies.
All of these but can't
just get back
Playing the same way they play
Get back to what the finals. Yep
The same look what we talk about right now is that this is a detriment and let's some of the threes right and the reason
They got to where they was
Was because I was a fan one two because Two. It was because they lucked up
and a lot of guys got injured.
So you remember,
we was talking about
how lethargic they were playing.
They were getting by these guys
and beating them by a lot of points
because they were hitting threes.
They're shooting a lot of threes,
hitting a lot of threes.
But let's just say you meet a team
where you got to match up
when they're hitting three for three.
We going down stop for stop.
Like, what's going to be
the difference maker right now?
Because that's not the way the other team plays.
But Boston, listen, like, Boston,
when they have to play like that,
like they played last night against a team with no Trae Young.
Nobody.
Like, you nut cutting Tom down.
Like, you lost that game to a team that ain't got no stars.
So we get down to seven game series with teams
and know what they're doing and can make it happen?
I don't think Boston
can survive that right now
with Tatum playing
the way he played.
The O boards.
It wasn't shit-outs
but the O boards.
You gotta box out.
But that's what I'm saying.
It's nothing but the boards
but that's because
the other team is driving.
Yeah.
Right?
The other team is not just
playing that game
shooting threes.
That's what I said.
If somebody's smart
they're gonna look.
The biggest weakness for
Boston is they do shoot way too many threes
For the personnel that they have on your team like if if I'm literally guarding Kobe and he's sitting there shooting
15 threes trust me. I'm fucking happy. Yeah, fact.
I'm happy.
I'm not even going to lie with you.
Easy night.
If A.I.s just shot a whole bunch of threes,
trust me, we're going to be sitting there
like, peas keep shooting.
Woo!
I'm telling you,
I think they're just resting their hat
on the fact that all these teams
also want to shoot hella threes.
You're not going to get me
in foul trouble ever.
I get to keep playing.
That's what I'm saying.
Like, the fear, the fear Jason Tatum and Brown should be putting on those guys is we're not going to settle.
We're attacking all night long.
I want you out of the game.
All night long.
I can shoot threes when you're gone.
You're the best defender.
I want you to fuck out this game, so I'm just going to keep attacking until you get like,
I want you to play defense.
I don't have to play D.
Yeah, you just wait for them to make a trade.
That's the mentality right there.
Like, Luka, you're telling me Luka gets to play the whole game because none of y'all are getting him in foul trouble?
You don't want him to play?
I don't want him to fucking, he's putting up 40-something total points because rebounds, assists.
I don't want to guard that.
Let's go on.
I'm going to put you in the mix.
Get in foul trouble.
Wasn't that with Shea?
Who was it?
Shea and...
Was that round where he got in foul trouble?
Yeah, and they was trying to get him.
It was Shea and Dort.
They were trying to get him in foul trouble.
It's like little things.
I don't see anybody, because everybody's so warped with shooting threes,
I don't see anybody taking advantage of them, besides they have to play like a Denver or or a Lakers
If you're a good player, we don't know Lakers don't have enough three-point shooters even worry about shooting 53s
Hey, if you're a good player and you don't know that the other team's good best player has how many fouls they have
Hmm, you'd be surprised you mean ain't built like that, man.
And if you're a loyal Gills Arena fan,
I want you to know you have nine minutes left
to get the free Wimby pick.
Go to the Underdog app.
And if you've used promo code GILL,
you get a free Wimby pick for tonight.
You got nine minutes left to take advantage,
make your next move your best move.
Head over there.
So we asked the chat,
do the Celtics need to switch up their play style?
52% said no.
48% saying if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Lexi, you have told them, you've given them the international move around symbol.
Keep shooting threes, boss.
Remember when I told y'all Washington playoffs and I was like,
in the championship game, I was like,
y'all can beat them by, y'all can beat them by 45, y'all.
If y'all just, Tatum, you just drive the whole time.
Brown, you just drive.
Who's going to block you back there?
Well, they don't be giving Jason foul calls.
Because he jumps, because he don't know how to jump.
Yeah, he saw.
He don't know how to, he don't, like, okay.
He don't be getting the calls that he deserves.
Jalen Brown is a two-foot jumper.
No matter, he earned them foul calls. No. He's a, two-foot jumpers don't know how the calls that he deserves. Jalen Brown is a two-foot jumper. No matter, he earned them foul calls.
No.
Two-foot jumpers don't know how to get fouls.
So when he, like, Jason Tatum is a one-foot jumper,
but when he drives, he decides he wants to jump off two
without any two power.
You don't have power like Jalen Brown jumping off a two.
So when you come in there and you decide to jump off two,
you're smaller.
You're off balance, too.
Off balance, but that's why you see him missing so many layups.
One leg, lean it back.
One leg, lean it.
Like, you don't have the explosion to get you there.
Jalen can take the bump and hit the contact.
He still needs more foul calls, though.
You're like, go in there and just jump.
Jalen Brown is dark skin.
From the trenches
Okay, what can you know? Yes one. Do you know what light-skinned guy actually play like?
But a great gritty basketball like like Dante's own
Score like somebody or yeah score if he didn't score shit
Play would you say go?
Great. Yeah, like like they they wanted. Play, what did you say, Gil? Lyskin.
Like they wanted to get fouled.
Like they... Corey Maggette.
Corey Maggette.
We talked to Lyskin at council.
He has an appropriate hue to be considered.
Let's keep the Lyskin talk going.
In other Celtics news,
other Celtics news,
Jason Tatum secured the bag this offseason
by signing the biggest contract in league history,
and now the NBA champion is looking to make some power moves.
So according to reports,
Tatum has teamed up with some powerful businessmen
in the St. Louis area for a $200 million bid
to bring a WNBA team to his hometown.
How much?
$200 million bid, but let me...
He's just part of the...
I'm on paragraph two.
I got one more to go. A $200 million bid to bring a me... He's just part of the... I'm on paragraph two. I got one more to go.
A $200 million bid to bring a WNBA team to his hometown.
An active NBA player can own up to 4% of a WNBA franchise.
So Patrick Mahomes is also interested in bringing a WNBA franchise
to a different Missouri City, Kansas City, obviously,
where he plays football for Roger Goodell and them.
So, Lexi, what are your thoughts on Jason Tatum wanting to bring a WNBA team to St. Louis?
I think it's cool that he wants to invest in women's sports.
I think that's amazing.
I don't know much about St. Louis.
Like most people.
Nellieville.
Yeah, I think it's cool that, you know, he has all this money.
He can invest in what he wants, and he's choosing to invest in women's sports and empowerment. So I think it's cool that you know he has all this money he can invest in what he wants
and he's choosing to invest
in women's sports
and empowerment
so I think that's dope for him
so yeah
we'll see how that goes
I just know how these
processes go
they take a while
they do
tend to drag
but it is nice
that he wants to bring us
but I said that
we need more W teams
in like the south
Florida
the Carolinas, like that.
For what reason?
Because there are none down there.
There's only Atlanta.
I mean, that's because y'all didn't have private planes,
so it was kind of,
but because y'all got private now, that might-
Well, they already had two.
They've already had three teams over there
and they're not there anymore.
So bring one of them back.
They had a team in Miami, they had a team in Orlando,
they had a team in Seattle.
What happened to the Miami team?
Why they just...
Dissolved after, I think, I believe two seasons.
Played in the Heat arena.
Yeah, I was talking about working that goal rush.
Miami.
I'm confused here.
No, the reason I'm confused, no offense.
You gotta say none taken.
Just how nobody caught that.
Okay, can you read that again?
I'm going to clip it, though.
No, no, you got to read it again because I was confused.
There was a price that was saying, I'm like, wait, what?
$200 million is, I think, the cost to start a new WNBA franchise.
Jason Tatum can own 4%.
Abraham, Max Abraham and his team put an offer to acquire that franchise
for a price of $2.3 million.
How long ago was this?
2022.
For what team?
It don't matter.
2.2, 2.
You've got to pay the fee. You've got to buy in.2, 2.2. You gotta pay the fee, you gotta buy in.
This is new, new everything.
So we gotta create an arena around it.
So the 200 million comes with an arena too?
And a proposal, the whole...
It comes with arena, fans.
They're gonna play at the arena at St. Louis University I think is what...
So the arena's not included?
No, the fans are included. You get the automatic bot fans and the Tesla bot.
No, no, I'm just saying just for 200... What I'm just for $200 million, you have to build me a new arena because why am I paying $200 million?
Well, I think they have a state-of-the-art arena already in St. Louis that they would plan on playing games at.
So the $200 million bid goes back to $10 million, $15 million?
I'm being realistic.
I think him and his business partners
are willing to invest $200 million.
Yeah, that's how much they have in the group.
He's not putting up $200 million.
He's not putting $200 million.
No, I'm just talking about buying the team.
A lot of people thought that he was putting up $200 million.
A lot of people thought that.
NBA French, WNBA, as of June 2024,
the average Women's National Basketball Association franchise
is only worth $96 million.
Price of the brick going up, girl.
Okay, so what is your point?
The Dream is worth $55 million.
To buy. It's already there.
To buy.
He's doing it from nothing.
Yeah, but there's an arena already there,
so it's still nothing now.
All I do is... Well, we don't know what the $200 million is for. All I do is I got to... We don't know what that's all I do. You gotta I got a million for
Assuming you guys are just assuming that it's for a new arena. I feel like a new arena cost more than $200
5,000 square foot build it's about 200. Yeah to buy it
Yeah, that's what I'm saying
Just the team and already have it 89 if depending on what,000 depending on what you're building, how many seats.
It's a small arena.
It can be 120.
Man, that's what I'm saying.
$200,000 makes it if I'm building it from scratch $200,000.
But if you're telling me this is...
They already have arena available.
They already have some infrastructure there.
I'm not sure how that $200 million...
There's insurance and a bunch of shit.
There's like a bunch of stuff.
If you're a team,
they need to build it in Louisville.
They already have a...
KFC Yum Yum Arena.
They already have an arena that was built for a WNBA team,
and the fans there are already for women's basketball.
The women's basketball team gets more fans than...
KFC Yum Center.
I would put them in North Carolina.
Come on and raise up.
Where's women's basketball in college?
Which women's basketball teams are more popular than the men's?
South Carolina.
South Carolina.
I think LSU.
LSU.
Tennessee.
Tennessee.
Baylor.
Baylor?
Not as of late, but before the last few years.
Louisiana Tech is coming from our producer.
So I would shoot for the cities that already have a women's basketball fan base. Oh
Yeah, that makes right it makes it makes like it's like Louisville gets what ten to twelve thousand people for college girls
Nashville wants one bad too. Is there the enough? The Yum Center has, I think, 22,000 seat capacity.
Expand the league?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
That's enough.
We about to get three new teams.
There's enough. Yeah, yeah.
Shout-out to the Valkyries.
All the...
You get a new team next year.
Shout-out Natalie Nicasi, UCLA.
Toronto's getting one.
Remember, most sit overseas.
The people that...
That's what I'm saying.
The girls that usually get cut is your rookies.
Well, now you're taking players like...
There shouldn't be any bad teams in the W
if there's an influx of talent to choose from.
There shouldn't be any low teams
where they only got two wins, one win.
It should always be competitive
because we have a lot to choose from in our pool.
If you're expanding without a pool, you're going to be looking for talent later no we're shy because
there's there's probably like three to four really good players on every w bench and those players
are going to be the main players on the expansion teams and then this i would think about think
about that wmba talent that's at home they're going to come beat the bench players on the ultimate.
You're using bench players as stars in new markets.
There's never been stars.
And you've got to wait three years to get a new college player.
But there have been stars.
There's a lot of stars on benches.
That's usually how the expansion works.
Only in the expansions that we've seen in football and basketball
it works because we got fan base that's
that's this and we have a farm system
that's set up for us to have
repetitive athletes
be filling spots all the time.
I don't feel like they have enough to
fill them seats to expand teams.
I was told that they sold 18,000 season
tickets already. Season tickets are cool.
I'm talking about the players.
No, no, no.
See, they're working ass backwards because what happens is...
So think about it.
Think about when Vince was 39, 40, 41, right?
And you have a 19, 20, 21-year-old coming in.
They're not going to beat him out for a spot, right?
Even though he's over the hill,
he's smart enough to stay on the court
for a coach who wants to win games.
So as long as Vince was on a team,
they're going to reject the young players
because I don't need you learning on my win.
Like, I'm trying to win here, right?
If I don't win, I get fired. So that young hot rod won't get in the game and they're going
to keep playing vince that's what they do in your league right the 40 year olds and the 38 39
they're going to beat out they're going to bully a 20 21 year old girl coming in the league right
so she's not going to get a chance to really adapt to it. So she'll be pushed
So what ends up happening is you have more teams all the young talent that's sitting there overseas
They're sitting there overseas developing their game. They get to develop it back here get it and that's very unnecessary
When you can just kick that old ass
Motherfuckers wasting space on the bench get the fuck out of here. You gotta beat but you can they can't beat her
Now you ain't got about beating her is about getting she didn't have the spell. She the fuck out of here. You gotta beat, but... But you can. I can't beat her. No, you ain't got about beating her. It's about getting...
She shouldn't have the space. She shouldn't have
this roster. No, no, no, but what I'm saying is like
No, because they're very much still
capable. They're capable. They deserve to be...
You know, capable, but you got a 20... Like you just said,
invest in the youth.
When you got a 19-year-old and you
got a 22-year-old, where we going?
But I...
But they... We going! But their league don't do it. Exactly. That's what I'm saying. They need to start doing what a 22-year-old, where we going? Where we going?
But their league don't do it.
Exactly. That's what I'm saying.
They need to start doing what you're saying.
But they don't have enough spots.
Why would you expand if you don't got enough spots?
Because they want more spots.
Because I think they're finally seeing it.
Because the spots they're giving out
are not for the people who deserve it.
That's my point. Don't give it to the people
who don't deserve the spots and then say we need to know and to get more spots
I don't think about it. No rid of them spot
Remember the same the same draft is the same draft now you put three more teams
How many how many really getting one team next year? Okay one team so that's 12 new 13
That's 12 new spots. So that's 12 new spots that wasn't there before so that means there's 12 players who probably wouldn't have who would have got
Cut it's like six new spots.
So how many players are retiring?
Technically, it's like six.
How many players are retiring?
I just know one of my teammates retired, and Diana allegedly is retiring.
Okay, so that's two spots.
So there's eight spots, right?
So technically, they're drafting.
There's eight spots out of the whole draft.
And that's just the eight. Think about the
bottom feeding teams that need to make
a new move.
There should be 24
new spots.
There you go.
You gotta earn it. I'm sorry.
You gotta beat them out.
Right. So if you talk about earning it
and you expand the team, you no longer have to earn it.
Because they need bodies.
We need bodies.
No, but that's what I'm saying.
If I'm them, I'm just going to expand.
I mean, we, as players, have been asking for additional roster spots.
That's been asked.
Yeah, that's their biggest issue.
For what?
Because the whole season you have injuries.
You sometimes don't have
enough players to practice.
And then you keep bringing in
these 10-day players
and they're in and out.
And you got players
who are on four teams
in one season.
Like, that's not a good look
within itself.
For the league
and for that player,
I mean, that's a lot
for a player to go through
in their career,
bouncing from team to team
because it's temporary.
If we have more roster spots... Or if you had better players in the roster spots you wouldn't have to really delegate
but see when you say better like okay like me right my first year if i'm trying to fight for a
spot on the team i'm i'm cut right right because at this moment in time, me trying to learn the NBA,
I can't beat out Mookie Bailock.
I can't beat out Bobby Sura.
Don't people be trying to beat out the wrong players?
But those are the guys that play me.
You got to know who you're competing against.
But I can't even compete.
I'm not even in the same realm.
Because, you know,
I'm trying to bring the ball up the court.
Mookie Bailock, like, nah, young rook.
So if right there it stops
me trying to make this team in training camp,
I'm cut. What was the name
of the girl who played in France that
ended up getting a job after the Olympic game
in France?
She was already in the league.
She was already in the league, right?
So whatever happened
pushed her overseas. Yeah, prioritization. Right, and now she got a the league, right? So whatever happened pushed her overseas.
Yeah, prioritization.
Right?
And now she got a job back, right?
She's probably one of the rarest ones that can actually go and come back and get a job, right?
Everybody else is contracted to go over there and wait to be called.
If y'all open the league up, right, it's going to give more jobs for them.
But where are those jobs at, right? And they should be open for them right now because the league, it the league up, right, it's going to give more jobs for them. But where are those jobs at right now?
It should be open for them right now because the league,
it ain't got like every roster is 12 all-star.
Everybody's really, really, really good.
You got good players over there that can't get in
because what we just talked about, an older player is taking up a spot
that they don't want to free up.
Well, the difference about the European players is no matter how old they are,
they're going to come in on a rookie salary. They're going to to be making less than what they make overseas. And they're going to
not be home. They're going to be away from home because of prioritization. So they won't even be
able to play on the top teams overseas because they have to be back. But under the rookie contracts,
that rule doesn't apply. So I actually, I'm not really sure why more European players don't try and come over and play.
Because for their first three or four years, that rule doesn't exist to them.
But then they're going to have to come in and earn a spot.
Exactly. And that's their fear.
We probably won't play. They don't play their own.
They don't even play their own players.
Okay, so the stars for
the WNBA, so we'll take
top 15, the
best 15, how many
of them are overseas
players? Now? No, no. How many
of them coming from there versus
America? None, right?
Okay.
Yeah, none. Okay, so none. Now, during your Okay. Yeah, none.
Okay, so none.
Now, during your next CBA, there should be a rule.
See, right now the rule benefits them to come here.
It hurts the American girl because you got to go to school for four years,
but they can come over at 18, right? But they don't.
They could.
Some do, but they could. They have the ability to come over. 18 right they don't and they do some do but they could they
have the ability to come a bunch of them have been drafted they just don't come coming over here
because they got their rights they got the burn they're like uh cambridge cambridge she came over
right but what i'm saying is came at 19 and she didn't go yeah she came at night what i'm saying
it should be it should be the opposite you shouldn't penalize your talent for
them to come if they're the lesser.
So you're getting more weaker girls coming over
when the stronger is still the American
girls. So it should be
opposite. It should be
19, 20, whatever.
And whatever you have
here, you put it over there. Y'all can't
come in until you're 22.
The European players?
I mean, that happens naturally.. Y'all can't come in until you're 22. The European players? I mean, that happens
naturally. A lot of them don't come over
until they're a little bit older anyway.
Because there's always
one,
three girls
that are
young.
You know, Juju, Paige,
they can play right now and get that little development.
That's what, you're missing those.
Yeah.
It's those.
My fear is that they're jumping the gun with expansion
because you right now have momentum to build
and push out all the arenas you have currently.
You build what you got
because you never had this type of momentum before.
You build up the players
that you got on them teams.
You start pushing them players
out to other teams.
They start getting,
you know,
watered down a little bit.
No, yeah, no.
So you keep them
where they are.
You don't want to bring
a team to the city.
No, you don't.
No, you water that shit down.
It's just,
you're not going to get
the crowds that you want
because your expectation
is going to be
with the other cities.
And you're like, oh, we can do it like that
because we got a city here now.
And it's like, yeah, we can bring them out.
But consistently with what?
Who is this?
Bench player was over here.
Now I'll start.
No, no, no, no.
WNBA.
It's going to take time.
I'm not saying they can't do it.
It's just going to like an immediate effect.
Is it?
You let players come into the league?
I mean, yeah, you change.
You change dynamics where it benefits the league and not hers
I think it hurts because you're expanding
graduating college
Graduated her back say I'm leaving earlier way, but you could take on you don't want them to leave early
You do want them to get an education and stay why is that such a wise shit?
I want them to cook and be in the kitchen, but they don't want to be in there either
No, I'm saying to cook and be in the kitchen, but they don't want to be in there either. No, I'm saying, no, like... What you talking about?
You want a fair kitchen for college?
What you talking about?
Now, when you said I want them to cook,
I was already headed...
Yeah, no, he's... They used to have cooking classes
in college, right?
I want them to cook meals. I want them to cook me
short ball fries. Yes!
Shut up. Yes!
No, no, no. With the cream sauce.
This is what... No, this is what happens during an expan...
This is what happens during an expansion, right?
You dilute, like, as a team, you can, like the Bulls.
The Bulls benefited, and the damn Detroit Pistons benefited
when they had the expansion.
The good teams benefited because I get to throw off four players that I don't want.
Right?
So I only can protect, wait, back then
you can only protect eight.
I think the rest is five.
So y'all can protect, basically, you're starting
five. Now think about the
six men and the seven men.
So somebody like at early, Kennedy,
somebody's taking that.
You're my star. Now when you look down the rest, all six men, right?
Because of how your lineup is.
And y'all have like a defensive player, starting.
There are stars chilling on WNBA benches.
I don't agree.
I don't disagree.
But I'm going to say.
So you're saying like we're going to start your expansion team with a bunch of bench players that don't know how to be stars?
Because that's what you said.
You said they on the bench.
Right. But they're still stars. They got to. You said they're on the bench. Right.
But they're still stars.
Now they have to prove it.
Right.
From being a bench player.
Now if you don't prove it, we've made a bad investment.
Instead of having a proven star come in here that's on a starting team in the starting lineup.
What is the expectation for an expansion team?
Liberty.
Who's the sixth and seventh man on Liberty?
I'm not sure. Expectation for an expansion team Liberty who's a sixth and seventh man on Liberty? Their rookie
Who ended up starting and then Courtney Vandersloot?
She's coming up so she was on the so one of those so one of those two would be I
Don't think they're gonna get rid of of those two. Even if they would.
If I can only protect five... But you can only protect five, but that doesn't mean
that they're getting picked to go.
If Vander Sloot or that rookie
is in the draft,
I'm picking them.
Same thing with the
Aces. One of y'all
got to get in this draft, and obviously
that two are going to pick for me
This is what I'm saying with the draft
With the expansion
Instead of having four Olympians on one team
You take two and then if you're going to expand teams
Them other two got to be on the expansion team
You don't keep four on this team
And have an expansion team with bench players
Trying to be stars
That's where it don't make sense to me
And then I think you can't sign a player
That will be a free agent After next season That's where it don't make sense to me. And then I think you can't sign a player that's about...
that will be a free agent the next...
after next season.
So that takes off probably a few...
But yeah, but you're not gonna break up...
you can't break up my team, but if...
if you're trying to build equally across...
I'm very interested to see who they pick to go over there.
Like, if I'm a third option, but I know I'm her,
I'm like, yo, can you... Can you free me? If I'm on a team stacked... If I'm on a'm a third option, but I know I'm her I'm lay you can you can you let me mom?
I'm gonna be free me if I'm on the team stack with the other stuff. I wanna go
And that's it over there is nice
Facility they're not there but Scott Skiles. That's how Scott Skiles became Scott Skiles. He was put into the draft
Orlando got him then Then he became Scott Scott.
All right, well, let's keep this thing moving.
We got one more thing to discuss before Mostly Fans.
So we got to talk about a situation that went down.
He pissed his game.
He were in Detroit for their NBA Cup opener against the Pistons.
Appeared on pace to get an overtime win led by a Tyler Hero 40-piece.
But then this happened.
So the heat up two was 1.8 seconds remaining.
They got caught slipping on an ATO as an unguarded cane,
cutting him through a lob to Jalen Durham for the game.
Time basket pissed off Eric Spoelstra, immediately called a timeout.
Only problem was Pete didn't have any timeouts remaining,
which led to a technical foul.
So a bit of irony or fate, if you will.
Jalen Rose was in the building.
Knows a thing or two about how calling a timeout when you have none left
can be detrimental to a team's success.
After Spoh's timeout mishap, the former Michigan All-American's reaction
became an instant viral meme.
The Pistons made the free throw to take a one-point lead.
Kevin Love subbed into the game to inbound the ball for Miami,
but because of the tech, Pistons retained possession of the ball, went on to get their fifth win of the season.
Kyle the Pistons, Gil. Gil's favorite city, Detroit.
Now, you know why? Because last year, how Pistons was playing,
that's how they were losing games.
That's how they were losing games.
That's how they was losing games, just fuckery.
Just not thinking, and then, you know what I mean?
When you lose it, you lose it,
and that's how they were losing last year.
Tables and turds.
They tied the game, they getting mad.
Timeout, no timeouts, free throw, they lost.
Like, God damn it.
It happens.
Give the people their wings.
Got so mad that you called a timeout that you didn't have. So, after the game. That was pure anger. timeouts free throw they lost like god damn it it happens give the people their wings got so
got so mad that you call the time so after the game anger pure anger after the games foe had
this to say about his brain fart there's really no excuse for that i'm 17 years in um we had talked
about it in the huddle i knew that we didn't have anything i I just got emotional and reactive on that,
and I just made just a horrendous mistake there at the end.
It's a shame, you know, because we really fought back.
We had some great defensive possessions, hustle possessions,
those 50-50 balls, and then Tyler was just sensational.
You don't want him to come down to a mental error like that.
Oh, yeah. You just would have liked to seen this go double overtime. That's that's the kind of
game it felt like it deserved to go double OT and not have somebody get in the way of that.
And. Oh, of course, way of that. Oh, poor Spock.
Nah, nah, that, like, listen.
Like, that hurts.
Boop, boop, boop, boop.
Like, that hurts because he probably thought it was practice, right?
You know, the practice.
You just told him, all right, they're going to do the back.
This is probably what happened.
All right, they're going to try to do a backdoor, get the lob.
So play on the inside, make him catch the ball over.
And then when it happened, timeout like I just told you,
and then you realize you don't have to timeout.
That's how that stuff happens.
Cooked.
Cooked.
Cooked.
Hey, Spolak, that friend that will easily get mad at you and tell all your business
in front of everybody and then to try to apologize afterwards.
I didn't mean it.
I didn't mean it.
Just blurted the shit out of my mouth.
Just crashed my man.
Just crashed out on you.
Like, ah!
Damn!
Damn!
He ain't never done that before.
I had some teammates like that that just took it to the crash out level for nothing. Damn. Damn. He ain't never done that before. I had some teammates like that, that just took it to the crash out level for nothing.
Damn.
They told you the secret.
They told you the secret.
But just our Connor, like damn.
Why you ain't tell him you don't use no toilet tissue, Joe?
Like, personally, she's like, damn, dog.
It was not that serious.
It was not that serious.
It was not.
Listen, just the reaction, like.
I was emotional.
Go back to the lob.
I was emotional.
Like, you know.
He was mad at me.
You know they said no lobs.
He walked out.
He was like.
Yeah, yeah.
I know he said no lobs, no lobs.
Let them catch in front.
Like, go back.
Like, go back.
Look at him.
Already mad.
Look at him.
Look at him.
He already sees it.
Go back.
Go back.
Who is it?
Hands are up.
Who is it?
Who is it?
It's Bam.
Huh?
Bam.
Bam should have went under. He said. Because now. Because what are you going to do it? Who is it? It's Bam. Huh? Bam should have went under.
He said.
Because now.
Because what are you going to do?
Now this is what happens.
If Bam, see Bam's fighting.
If what's the name decides to hit and switches, the other guy is going to backdoor.
So you can see he's already, look, he's already got, his hands is already up.
First of all, Tyler Hero, I don't like to call people, you know, idiots and stupid and all that.
What are you doing?
You don't ever play that position with your back to the ball, bro.
Jump, jumping.
Ever.
Jumping.
At this time of the day?
You're not even in the play.
You're doing nothing, bro.
Absolutely nothing. Absolutely. Absolutely. But that right there, bro. Well, make him like... Absolutely nothing.
Absolutely, but that right there is...
Yeah, go back, go back.
Yeah, right, like, right there.
Right there, you already know he messed up.
You can't even see Spoh. He behind the ref.
Mad as hell right now.
No, no, he's right here.
He's right in the front, right?
Oh, he behind the ref.
Go back a little bit. No, that's a player.
Keep going. That's Spoh right behind the ref.
Oh, behind the ref.
Yeah.
He mad.
The other player.
Like, this is right here.
All the guys in the black are coaches, right?
They all got their hands up.
Yeah, Spoh behind the ref.
I think he can.
Can the big man shoot?
They're big man.
Zero.
No, right?
No.
No, you're supposed to be sitting under the basket.
Right.
Bam.
Bam not supposed to be up there.
No, Bam is not supposed to be up there. That's supposed to have been inverted. Yeah. He's supposed to be sitting under the basket. Right, wait until you... Yeah, Bam. Bam's not supposed to be up there. No, Bam's just not supposed to be up there.
That's supposed to have been inverted.
Yeah, he's supposed to be at the free throw line.
Bam's tripping right now.
Yeah, that was supposed to...
Bam is tripping.
Yeah, that was supposed to have been inverted.
That's why I said they probably called this play out.
Bam, stay down.
And then he got...
What they called up happened, and he just lost it.
And then...
You can't get...
Called a timeout just to cuss him out. This wasn't even a timeout to run she can't get called a timeout just to
cuss him out. This wasn't even a timeout to run a play. This was a timeout to cuss him
out. Yeah. I got just told y'all. Yeah. Sacrifice the game. You stupid mother. Cuss your ass
out. Oh, we don't have no timeouts. Fuck it. What? Damn. Boy, you lucky. What? Find me.
You got to take the fine. You sit there trying to, you lucky. What? Find me.
You got to take the find.
You sitting there trying to.
You want to cuss him out, but you done fucked up now.
Find me.
Find me.
I got it.
That's the fucked up part.
You want to cuss him out, but you just fucked up.
Now it's on you.
It's over now.
You can't even be mad.
You can't even get mad.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
You can't even say nothing.
Why you think he took that pause at the end?
He was like.
Just five seconds ago, he was a black motherfucker. He was like, I can't even go in there.
I can't even go in there and cut their ass out
the way I want to.
Damn.
I was going to call him a black.
Yeah, you black.
You black mother.
Didn't I tell your ass?
Motherfucker.
He was going to take his belt off.
But bringing in my next question,
obviously you've all played for a bunch of different coaches in your career.
Alexa, you are still playing, so feel free not to answer this.
I do never want to impact your back,
because I know the Gills read your back.
While it's efficient, it's not the only one.
Not the only one you have at your disposal.
But did you ever take joy in watching your coach screw something up?
What?
I haven't had joy in this coach screwing up per se, but seeing them not reach the same
success since I-
That's important.
Departed has been pleasant.
No, I like when they yell at you on the court, right, and you got to go to the film,
and you was right.
No, no, I used to do that.
And then they try to go over it again, you know, so no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
Rewind.
What was said?
Hey, so whose fault was this again?
Like, because I swear I got subbed out right here.
Coach, whose fault?
I bumped.
You said he went over.
I said he went under.
There we go.
My bad, brother.
I didn't mean to put you on the spot,
but I got subbed out for this one.
Different price point than a lot of players, obviously,
an ability to talk to coaches in that tone.
For some of us, even when we were right,
we just had to take the L.
No, that's what film.
Sorry.
Boss said I was wrong. I was wrong, boss.
You start making noise.
You got to send it
to the assistant you cool with.
You're like, show.
But knowing that that assistant
more times than not
will not do that.
The assistant ain't going to do shit.
I ain't giving you all that for you, but it's rare
It's a rare thing where you get the like yeah, yeah, but because usually it's just on us. Yeah
Yeah, I'll fuck up the game plan. I see you over there
Did you ever have that ability to do that or would you you were wrong no matter what?
You when you write you wrong, you you know this blood comes from somewhere just keep fucking with me yeah yeah take me out nancy lieberman and edward nahara
and evan mckayle i think this one was randy whitman right here this one's ready with me
you're like randy whitman it didn't go you're like whit it like wait go down I had to do multiple these multiple

But first question,
email question from underdog user Ish24.
What player in your era do you believe
would have been way better
but just wasn't put in the right situation?
Player in your era you think would be way better
but they just weren't put in the right situation.
Like, who's this in the bad offense?
Damn, Steve Francis.
I think when, was it Jeff Van Gundy got there, that's when they decided they was gonna run the offense
through Yao and it kind of fucked his game up
when he was getting ready to take that next step, right?
Mm-hmm.
He got trashed in Orlando.
Yeah, that's when he lost it.
Like, when Yao got there,
that's when the franchise became second-fittled.
Well, they played good together that one year.
It was him, Coutinho, all of them played good that one year.
But I'm gonna say Gerald Green. See, I ain didn't really get to see a young fella like that.
Like I see him in the big three and I be like, damn, who was that in the NBA?
Oh, no, bro.
You right.
And he had nine fingers.
And his shoe hand, he had four fingers on his shoe hand.
Bro, he was different, bro.
Gerald Green, I'm always going to give him his flowers when I play with him in Minnesota.
He was fresh, young, off the Boston squad.
Sebastian, all them, Al Jefferson, Gomes.
But Gerald Green, bro, 6'8", jump out the gym, can shoot that bitch, guard anybody.
Wasn't the smartest tool in the shed.
He cool, though. Listen, coachable.
He's just, you know, he's one of them Kenyan,
he's like short wig.
Mm-hmm.
Smack you.
He paying attention.
But yeah, Gerald's probably one of my guys though.
Bennett, mm.
Lexi, anybody come to mind for yourself? Bennett, mm, mm.
Like, did anybody come to mind for yourself?
Um, not anybody specifically.
I just feel like in the W, there's a lot of players that get drafted to not the greatest situations,
and you kind of have to turn on that, like, survival mode,
and that's, like, not a mode that everybody can tap into quick
enough because especially as like a first rounder like you've probably been a star for so long in
your life and you don't really know how to adapt to that new situation or role so I mean
I can name names of like players I know but like there's a lot of players which is why I'm happy
the expansion is happening because I feel like maybe some of those players are gonna
be able to
Come back make a team and make an impact and have their career that they deserve. So it's cutthroat. It's hard
I'm thinking about some of the people but they end up getting
On team like Steve Nash when Steve Nash was in Dallas. He was like third fiddle
All right, so you didn't know Steve Nash was in Dallas, he was like third fiddle. So you didn't know Steve Nash was that good, right?
Because all pick and rolls, he dirt, ISO, Finley, right?
He wasn't like a main focal point to really the offense.
Like, you know he was good, but you didn't think he was what he became, right?
And then, you know, they didn't offer him,
they wasn't going to pay him 50.
They said he was over the hill.
He's done. He's washed.
We'll go get Jason Terry.
And then he walks, goes to Suns,
and he gets put into everything he needed as a player, right?
Pick and roll.
I have a guy who dives, and then I have shooters.
Oh, before that.
No, before that, it was him, Jason Kidd kid and Kevin Johnson. See I didn't see it was on the same thing
Oh, yeah, he was he was handicapped in the cab dance handicapped in sometimes
It's not even necessarily even a bad offense. You just not in a situation that's suitable for your game
Doesn't mean the person's offense is bad per se se. No, the Dallas offense wasn't for him.
It's opportunity, though.
It's opportunity to show that the offense is
not good for you.
You gotta be able to show something.
A lot of guys...
But even in those moments, in those opportunities where you feel
like you're handicapped, you still gotta show
signs, professionalism,
glimpses, which
obviously he did because he didn't get... He was good, but
he wasn't
that Stephen. He wasn't
MVP. He was like
all-star.
You make an all-star. You made
it because you're team record.
You were solid, but when
with the pick and roll, just fight him
over the roll. He's going to try to throw it back.
He ain't really looking to score and do all that one-foot bullshit that he was doing.
When he got to Phoenix, Phoenix is like, okay, I got Amari.
I'm the number one option, though.
So I'm coming.
Oh, Joe.
Dime.
Marion.
Right?
He is the number one option making everything.
And you're like, wait, who the fuck is this guy?
It's crazy.
Similar to Rondo, though.
Similar to Rondo. Because Rondo was competing with Sebastian,
Marcus Banks, all them guys.
Then he gets KG, Ray Allen.
His whole game, it looked different.
But the opportunity for him opened up.
They traded those little other guards that was competing with him.
Once they got rid of him, it was, I think, him and Avery Bradley.
What's funny is nobody knew how good Rondo was until,
because he has these stars and he's giving the ball,
when Nate got hurt and he was like,
all right, Rondo, you by yourself.
And you're sitting there like...
Fuck is this?
Oh, I get to go hamburger?
I get to just do me?
Me and Big Baby?
Me and Leon Paul?
I can create another...
I can create another Paul out here, yeah.
Tony Allen?
Come on out here.
That's how Jimmy Butler was found.
Let's go.
No Derrick Rose?
Opportunity.
Yeah, he had to pick the way.
Yeah, no Derrick Rose.
They're like, who are you?
Come on in.
Who are you?
Come on.
Come on, man.
We need another player.
Oh, shit, he's a star.
Facts.
Oops.
Opportunity.
That's exactly what I'm saying. Opportunity., shit, he's a star. Thanks. Oops. Opportunity, all you need.
That's what I'm saying.
Opportunity.
They're hidden gems.
Take advantage.
True in life.
