You can watch the show live with us on YouTube.
We got audio versions available on Apple, Spotify,
wherever you get your podcasts from.
So let's get right into basketball day.
We got a ton of stuff to talk to.
Playoffs, everything else going on.
But the NBA released the finalists for their regular season awards on Sunday.
And the MVP
race is down to three, with Jokic, Luka, and SGA finishing in the top three.
This is the third straight year that the MVP finalists are all foreign-born players, although
it should be noted SGA came up playing in the United States.
One name who's not on that list, Jason Tatum, who was on the best team in the league.
So what does Tatum being left off the top three say about the current state of the MVP criteria?
I mean, it's like for the last, what, two, three years, they've actually done change of criteria.
So, I mean, we don't know what it is now because it used to be your production
Right and your team production, right?
So, you know your individual stats
Plus where your team supposed to be or where they projected your team at the beginning of the season where they are now
so
And we got Cheryl
It ain't us it's the smoke that's all you
Cuz I'm late, okay, I'll take it
You're never late you hear early you always hear early
You know, I'm late. I mean I like're late to this part. Yeah.
Just to this part.
It's all good.
What's up, fellas?
No, you got to make a grand entrance.
You are the GOAT.
GOATs do what they want.
GOATs move how they like to.
Reach.
I'm moving.
You're all going to see.
I'm moving.
I don't need you to see that.
Reach somewhere to teach.
I don't need you to see that.
Okay.
I had some flashbacks.
Uh-oh.
Someone threw the ball, reflex a little slow.
Ah, caught it.
I had some flashbacks.
So we're talking about Tatum being left out of the MVP right now.
That's really what it was.
That's what it was.
You know what I'm saying?
Yeah. It's going to be a glorious day in the ring. It's a it was. You know what I'm saying? Yeah.
It's going to be a glorious day in the ring.
It's a slipper.
Yeah, I'm going to keep this.
You were talking about just Tatum MVP criteria changing for the past few years
and not rewarding team success as much anymore.
No, I mean, that's what it was.
It was individual success plus team success unless you did something that was historic.
In historic, you're actually actually breaking history not creating it
not someone
making certain
Categories for you to be in this so you know that's just the frustrating part because you know
Players working out in the summer working on the individual skill
You kind of take away the fun of it all right and then when you know when you hear players saying I don't even care
About it anymore. I give up on it. I mean that's
That's the reality of what's going on because when people like someone like Tatum who's working his ass off
Making sure his team says that so that means he's turning down individual stats to make sure everyone is
Playing at a great level and then winning and the fact that he's not even part of the top three
What do you think go through his mind? Well, fuck it.
I'm going to just go
for my individual stats
but these team stats.
And especially
if they don't win it this year.
Yeah, if they don't win it this year.
If they don't win it this year,
that shit like,
oh, shit.
I might as well just get to cooking.
Go ahead and go 35 points a game.
We fit the six.
That's what they're looking for.
Because that's what
they're looking for,
which is...
Do you agree with that,
or do you disagree with that?
No, it like Gil has been saying. Every what they're looking for, which is... Do you agree with that, Kane, or do you disagree with that? No, like Gil has been saying,
every year, whatever narrative they want it to be,
that's what they're going to put out there.
The criteria are going to change for whoever is playing well.
Whoever they want to give the votes to that year,
that's what the criteria is going to be moved.
They're just going to continue to move the goalposts.
Yeah, because Statman over here has let us know that.
Who?
Statman.
Statman has told us that Giannis, I mean,
Hunter Nicola's two MVPs, he has historically,
his team has been in the worst seating position there is.
So Giannis' team, I mean, Jason Tatum's team is first.
And the fact that, and you look at Yannis' numbers as well,
and where his team is,
he should even be on the list over Luka.
Even though Luka's leading the league in scoring,
team is fifth, and you got a guy that's team is in first,
averaging 27, another guy team that's in second averaging 30 12 and 7
Is
They just it doesn't matter the winning part doesn't really matter anymore
Which is saying which so everybody's not knowing of it that
historically that like you keep preaching that winning should be a part
of it team success should be a part of it and if you're making your guys around
you better with all of those other things that's why LeBron could have been
in it every year when he was with Cleveland every single year when he was
a Cleveland LeBron James he could have been MVP of the league if the criteria
didn't change every year hmm now we's like the voters fatigue shit. Like
come on man, like no, the guy deserves it. Let's give it to him. But in this case, Jason
Tatum has been punished for team success and him not averaging 30.
Brandon, you agree with that?
Yeah, I think everything is about who's pushing the needle that year. It's like whoever's
the hottest. I think that's just who they roll with. It pushing the needle that year. It's like whoever's the hottest.
I think that's just who they roll with.
It's not even about winning.
It's just about who's pushing the needle at the top of the level.
And not taking anything away from these other guys who are finalists.
They deserve it.
I think they were probably all in our top three when we put our list together to vote.
But again, just if you take any of those other three guys,
put them on the Celtics with Tatum's stats with that team.
Yeah, but if the other guy played 65 games, this shit wouldn't even be a fucking question.
You're talking about Embiid.
Yeah.
Joel Embiid played 65 games.
This shit wouldn't even be a question.
We wouldn't even be talking about it because he'll be averaging like 37 right now.
Or we shouldn't be talking about it.
Yeah, we should.
We should, but the fact that he'll be averaging like 37 right now and his team would be top three
Yeah, and in the in the east so it shouldn't even be a question. Yeah, sure. Do you agree with the league?
65 game minimum
It was like Kenya said MV doesn't get hurt beyond his control
But the way he was playing prior to that it was pretty pretty clear he was going to get his second straight MVP.
I don't know if I necessarily agree with the 65-game minimum.
Like, how did they come up with that number?
I really don't know.
I'm just curious.
Yeah, like, why 65?
And it's 65, but it's also the 20-minute minimum per game.
Like, we saw DiVincenzo.
He probably wasn't going to win most improved player,
but not even eligible. He played the 81. Yeah. We saw Devin Chenzo. He probably wasn't going to win most improved player, but not even eligible.
He played in 81.
He played in 81 or 82 games.
Average close to 30 minutes a game, but he didn't
hit that 20 minute.
It's just like, come on, man. What are we doing?
You should have to play more than 20,
but I don't know why it has to be 65.
Because to Kenyon's point,
Embiid was...
To me, he should have been MVP had they not put this 65-game minimum rule in.
I don't know.
I think it's all about, as Brandon said, just who's pushing the needle, who fits the narrative.
And every single year, it's different.
And whether we like it or not, there are faves, there are
players that the media, people that vote, they're like, we absolutely want to make sure
this person, whether that's male or female, there's 124 people, right?
They get to vote.
Voters, right?
Have you looked at some of that list?
Some of these, there's not even sports categories for the most part.
There's not even sports.
Like, I'm just making this up.
It's like Petco got two votes.
Like, wait a minute, fucker.
Like, they got people in Toronto.
Like, how many games are y'all actually watching?
Yeah.
Right?
And that's the thing.
Like, how many games are these people actually watching with their physical eyes?
We know the TNT crew and ESPN crew, they don't even watch basketball like that, right, when the game is going on.
But also, how many of them really understand basketball?
And you live in different time zones, man.
People got fucking bedtime.
They got kids, routines.
Life is going on while y'all got these votes.
You don't have seven TVs in your fucking living room.
Sitting there like this.
Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom.
Because you ain't that talented.
You're not that talented.
No.
To sit there and watch all this shit and know who's playing well.
You're looking at highlights.
You're looking at stats.
You're going on other people's scene.
You're watching other people.
Then you're basing your vote on other people's opinions and stats.
Yep.
And it is.
He said highlights.
It's like, I know
we're not talking about it, but it's like
with the WNBA last
year, someone, somewhere,
there was one voter that gave
Asia Wilson a fourth
place vote.
She shouldn't be allowed to vote no more.
I agree. Take it away, whoever it is.
She shouldn't be allowed to fucking vote no more.
Make that make sense.
Okay, give her a second or third,
but there weren't four
players better,
or three players better than her last
season. She let it be known at the
championship parade as well.
It's easy to find out some
probably she probably didn't talk to or
gave a smart ass answer
to, right? She-ass answer to.
Right?
It might be a rival.
Like, that's the problem.
Or they had a question in the media.
The person said, no more questions.
Yeah.
I'll show you.
And they thought that question was important.
It was going to move the needle on the post-game interview.
Right.
It's something like that.
You shouldn't be allowed to vote no more. You know what I don't like
about the 65 games?
If you look at Tyrese Halliburton,
like how he had to rush back
just to get that money.
So it's like,
he's rushing back,
he's still hurt.
And it's like,
now it's like his future,
like, you know,
he's going to be dealing
with this injury for,
you know,
he can't even, like,
get surgery or anything.
So it's like,
you got to play 65 games
just for the money.
But in hindsight, you're still, like, hurting yourself if you're injured.
Because you're forcing yourself back.
Yeah, it's...
It's...
Like...
Yeah.
So it's like, without the 65 games, you can, you know...
Like, you should still be able to...
Yes.
Like, you know what I'm saying?
Be able to get your money.
Like, I did my part.
Like, come on.
But I hear you.
But what's the number though
Right
So just say if it's 60 games and just say if you have somebody that's playing well and they played
Fucking 55 and somebody gonna be like well damn you only like yeah, it's gonna
I feel it's gonna always be be something, like, to complain about.
But when, if a guy has a major injury where he has to get surgery or something like that,
it ain't like they're just resting him.
If it's a situation like Joelle or Tyrese Heller, where it's a serious injury,
I think they should be excluded from that.
It ain't just me resting you, right?
You're saying from that number.
To get the 65 game, right?
If I'm resting you fucking 17, 18 games out the year, that's a problem.
See, but that's what I'm saying.
You're saying the exact thing that's happened.
You're saying I'm deciding to rest you.
The player's not deciding to arrest themselves. We're not
going in there saying, hey, I'm taking the day off.
So the management
is
saving their money
by this rule. Because
like I said at the beginning, what ends
up happening is now the player
becomes selfish.
Right? That's the worst thing you want for you
you don't want your player service i'd rather i know you would be a better player if you know i'm
protecting you now if i take that i want to say 65 games just like donovan mitchell if you look
at donovan mitchell he wanted to make that all nba team his ass came back exactly the game he needed.
Right? So he was at, what,
16, 17, he came back,
played two games, back hurt.
Right? So the player is going to be
sitting there looking at it like,
oh, no, it feels good.
And you're going to go out there and play.
So he's going to risk team
future anyway.
In his own future. He gonna miss his the team
He don't get at that point the player don't give a fuck about what the team
Yeah
Like we do it all the time. Yeah, so you think is there's other things you're thinking about besides playing the game of basketball
I'm saying yeah, I gotta play I got uh, it's like
Yeah, and now people fall Kawhi, right?
Keep on why ass right now? Yeah. Oh shit. Here we go go again like I'm up. I don't want to play like I
Don't want to play but you that's the narrative
Like most games played a lot of games on the regular season this year and did he play shit and
Now he's like oh shit my shit, my shit swolled.
I can't, like.
This is what we have in Dante Jones, right?
I remember I said, what's up with Kawhi?
And he said this.
He said he trains too much by himself.
And I said, what do you mean?
I knew what he was saying, but I won't hear it.
He said he trains too much.
Like, you know, like off hours,
he's, like, he don't have a life.
He sits in the gym all day shooting.
So, you know, this kid is spending six, seven hours working out.
What do you think he's doing to his body?
Right?
So he's not getting a recovery.
So he's never letting his shit rest.
He doesn't know how to sit down.
Right?
So even though he's sitting down, he's still trying to work out. So he's he's never letting his shit rest. He doesn't know how to sit down, right? So even though he's sitting down he's still trying to work out
So he's always like if someone can just cuff him like a drug addict take him to the bank and say now we're gonna sit
You for two months, right?
You know to break this habit because they said as long as he can move he's gonna keep sitting there
Practicing and shooting and shooting and shooting and his knee is never being his knee.
Got to put a low jack on.
Got to put a low jack on.
Keep the nigga out of the gym.
And that's the problem.
So while the media said he don't even want to play, the Clippers are like, no, he's playing too much outside of the game.
He works out hard.
He works out too hard.
Instead of recovering.
So at what point does he
look at what he's doing
and say, I have to
stop doing as much as I'm doing by myself
so I can help my team?
It's hard at this point.
The results have been
great.
Successful.
So I've worked my ass off
and these have been finals, MVPs.
These have been the results of that work.
But it's a fine line.
Yeah.
It's a fine line.
So how does he make...
Never mind.
Never mind.
I don't know.
Like, to your point, though, it's a...
I agree with you.
It's within, right?
Yeah.
It's like, well, instead of me going four times, I'm going to have to go two.
Yeah.
And he might came.
Yeah.
It might not fit.
Yeah, it might not.
It could be anything, man, but no.
But the league has a problem, and we all have been saying it with this 65 game things,
and it reared its ugly head this year.
Not even.
It just poked out
Yeah, it's gonna. It's about to get bad eventually
It just poked out like you you know in bead and you you you got some pieces when those when those
GM's or those owners start paying supermax to players that they didn't think was gonna be supermax players
That's when this problem happens
That's my question for you because it feels like on one side you got guys like nb who may
not be able to make all nba teams but they got the bread and now you've got to reward guys who
may not have deserved to put them in that top 15 all nba list and now they're asking for that money
so one way or the other the owners are going to get burned by it yeah and that's what a team that
to a team that team ain't fighting for shit really Yeah, yeah, because the guy's gonna be a guy on the team that's gonna make 13 with some shit
Yeah, that the team was like an eight. Yeah, or something you like oh shit. Yeah
I'm all
You put it in right goddamn once you put it in right, yeah
Yes, and that's what I caught early.
I'm like, all right, like, right now, if Embiid was eligible,
if Kyrie was eligible, they're making one of those teams.
Embiid is making going to make first, second, or third team.
Same thing with Kyrie. So you take them off.
Someone has to make it that probably didn't have Supermax.
Now he's Supermax.
And now you can't afford.
Like, it becomes a trickle-down effect.
I mean, for the players who sit there like, okay, hell yeah.
I'll take the Supermax money.
Who has to put the rule in?
The players or the?
Players.
So that means usually the players gave up something to give up something.
I thought the owners came through with it.
You said the players put the rope in?
The owners didn't put that in.
They probably suggested it and...
They had to agree on it, but I'm just saying.
But you know how...
Players don't want to put that in?
Like, you got to make...
They probably...
It was something else on the table.
Something on the table they wanted?
They were like, it was either this or this.
And they was like, ah, we're going to get it.
Wow.
Well, what did we give up?
Like the high school...
We'll find out.
We'll find out.
Like 2005, right? I'm going to ask the GM. I said, what do we give up like the high school? Like 2000 2005 right I'm gonna ask the GM I said what do we actually give up?
There's like y'all gave back to high school kids. Y'all say y'all can had him and we took two extra days and all-star weekend
We just so we wanted the guys want him two extra days for all-star weekend and they wanted
5149 Two extra days for All-Star Weekend, and they wanted $51.49.
What was that?
With the split.
The split.
Because before, it was what?
Yeah, it was... Passball related income.
Yeah.
It was 40...
We had, what, 47, 53?
It was 47, 53 of them.
Right?
And then we wanted a 51, 49 us.
So, for that and two extra days, make it a one and done.
You can keep it.
So the 65-game minimum actually came from the league.
They introduced the idea for eligibility for awards with a games play threshold.
It was a top priority for them.
And then the NBPA ultimately agreed to it.
What did you give them though?
Supermats?
Yeah.
You're going to give up. It was something.... Super... You're going to give up, like...
It was something.
Trust me.
We're going to give up something.
But that's the same thing with everything.
Like, you can't trust the motherfuckers in there.
Right.
Because it's all about survival.
That's why I say the people that need to be on that list
need to be the superstars that don't get affected.
Right?
So you have LeBron.
You have KD. you have Katie you have
Steph right you have even Yannis that you have these guys because whatever you're trying to throw it doesn't affect them
So they're gonna make the best decision
Right. You got a bunch of people that's looking at all right. We're gonna bring back high school and I'm on my 14th year
like oh hell no
No 14th year. Like, oh, hell no. I vote no.
And that's what ends up happening.
So, you know, you had to put, you know, your top tier guys in there that's thinking for the rest of the group.
Yeah.
Well, we got a lot to get into.
We'll see how this thing plays out and who's going to get the MVP.
I know this couch thinks it belongs to SGA.
I feel like Joker's probably going to get his third MVP,
become the ninth player in NBA history to do so.
Just my guess.
Don't know for sure.
Don't have a vote.
They need to do a two-minute warning.
Your guess is probably correct.
They do not have a vote, but I can feel it in the air.
Agreed.
That's what I said.
Just from the basketball player standpoint, right,
you won a championship, right?
Mm-hmm.
You won the chip.
Yeah.
So when we start this, we start this track race, right, you're in the fifth lane, right? You got a head start.
We give you a five, ten-second head start amongst the rest of the people, right? And someone beat you to the finish line. Someone give you a five, ten second head start amongst the rest of the people. Right?
And someone beat you to the finish line.
Someone beat you there.
Someone who didn't even supposed to be in this
race.
Shea and OKC shouldn't be
one, two, three, four, five.
When we talked about this at the
beginning, right? We said Denver's
going to be number one. We had
the Clippers, the Lakers, the Golden State. We had Dallas's gonna be number one. We had the Clippers the Lakers the Golden State
We had Dallas. Yeah, there was no okay see thoughts man. We had Memphis in his buff
We had the Kings right we had it
Shea beat you to the finish line you didn't finish first
You were the MVP. You didn't have 93-9 season and no shit like that.
You came fucking second.
I mean, you know what I mean?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
You got to win 20 more than one.
It don't matter what your stats.
Unless your stats was a triple-double or you averaged 31, you know, 10 and 12.
Something that just stands the fuck out like
you had in bead stats with you fuck yeah but you're doing the same thing you've been doing
yeah as the champion you didn't dominate no one was scared of you this year right it's not like
bulls back to back back you didn't you didn't do that performance you you you mosey on right and then at the end you fell short
to a dude that wasn't even in the category to start this race off so me picking you as a player
knowing that okay you have the advantage you are the people everyone's chasing you got caught
i can't sit there and say yeah i know you know you had a 10-second head start, right?
And you, you, you're going to win the championship this year.
I know that, so let me just go ahead and give it to you anyway.
Like, yes, he's supposed to win the championship,
but this is a regular season award.
Thunder, the youngest team to get a number one seed,
I believe, in NBA history.
Well, she had, what, 51, 52, 30 points.
That also goes back to who's voting. I said it goes back to the people that are voting. They got to be like a citizenship test. They got a
Cunha you got to get over 90% on it
And if you don't get that your vote is removed and we find somebody to replace you, but he's gonna win it
Oh, I said not yeah, I think the way is leaning just from from media discourse and
Revealed their vote or whatever ESPN says that's what happened cuz I mean, I'm just gonna be honest I'm looking at their voters list. They got 20. There's 20 employees that got votes on that. Mm-hmm
All right, but let's
That's the sad part though we in huh, but we sit there and we're like, as athletes, we're sitting here like...
You know we played, right?
We played this game.
I know y'all have it.
That's why I said we should...
All the players, we should be voting on their awards just so they can get a real feel of it.
But do you vote on the media awards?
Because it can
affect their money, right?
Best one, the ones we don't hate,
most hate it.
Dumbest question.
Just let you get awards and you
sit there like,
yeah.
Motherfuckers don't like me, now you
sitting there with a rate, no one likes you, no one's
Yeah, that's why I fucking with you, pay a little bit. Yeah, you're bailing seven times
We sit there like yeah, we tired of you winning doll
To this person you gonna be you gonna be furious other
Let's keep this thing moving playoffs tipped off this weekend, so we got a lot to get into yeah
So let's start New York for game one of the Sixers-Knicks series.
Sixers looked good early jumping out to the
lead, but the Knicks bounced back.
Bede had the highlight of the game late in the second quarter
throwing it off the backboard to himself for the dunk, but
the mood shifted quickly after he went down to
the ground in pain. So
Embiid left the game for the remainder of the half
after appearing to re-injure his knee.
We've been saying the same thing now for several weeks.
Knicks took advantage, went on a 9-0 run at the end of the half,
taking a 12-point lead in the break.
But with Embiid back in the third quarter, Sixers regained the lead,
but the Knicks pulled away in the fourth.
Maxie did his thing as well.
That boy's a beast.
Everybody wears zero.
You got to get it. That's nice. Man, he's a... That boy's a beast. Everybody who wears zero, you gotta get it.
That's nice.
Man, that was nice.
So, Jalen Brunson struggled in the game.
22 points going, 8 for 26
from the field. Josh Hart had 22 and 13.
Deuce McBride
came up big off the bench.
21 points. Outscoring the
Sixers in the second quarter. He had 13. They only had
12. That's Josh, right?
Did they just shot that?
Yes, that is.
Josh had three, right?
Yep.
And B finished with 29 points, eight rebounds, six assists.
Max, he had 33 and four.
He had made it three all game.
But the Knicks pulled away in the fourth quarter.
Wow.
Josh Hart.
I'm telling you, these boys look good, Gil.
They had been daring him to shoot all game.
Huh?
They had been daring him to shoot all game. Huh? They've been daring him to shoot all game.
So them two he made, the only two.
He was like 0 for 4 up to that fucking point.
So they was like, from me to you Cheryl, like no, no, like shoot it.
And he was teeing that bitch up and just...
Yeah, yeah.
...clanking that bitch so the one he made, Joel, was like, shoot it.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
That's not...
The second one was... Yeah. That's all right. The second one was the... Yeah.
That's how it go though, right?
But if you keep giving them, you gonna make one?
When someone be like, yo, you know, we gonna sack off them, that don't mean just make it
practice shooting for them.
Everybody great in practice shooting.
Late contests.
Yeah.
Late contests.
You ain't gotta motherfucking be on him like he goddamn Steph.
Please act like you.
Yeah, you got to.
Hey, hey.
He's sitting there like, yeah, can you shoot?
Yeah.
So you give him 10 shots, he going to make five or six?
Yes.
Goddamn right.
By himself.
So Hardware, four for eight from three in the game.
Like I said, 22 piece of matching Brunson.
But let's talk about Embiid.
It keeps happening.
We keep playing with fire.
Second quarter, left the game, came back in the third, kept going.
He seems to keep wanting to play through it.
But is Embiid playing worth the risk for the 76ers?
Kanye, we'll start with you.
Like I said before, I'm still torn with it.
From someone who dealt with injuries, I understand.
Like on that behalf, like sitting your ass down somewhere matters.
But with him, he's out to prove something from history,
what people have said about him in the past, I think, right?
Him not showing up in the playoffs,
him not having his team on his back when they need him.
I think he's trying to prove that.
And at the same time, doing himself
and maybe the team a disservice, right?
Is he going to play? Is he not going to play?
He in, he out. It's that, right?
I think they would, just for me watching the game,
and Jalen struggled,
but it wasn't because of... I think they would be better
at times having Joel off the floor
because they could play
a different style of basketball.
But that's fucking crazy to say
knowing how dominant he can be
when he's healthy.
It's tough. It's tough.
It's tough because if you hear just a conversation,
I think that he scared himself.
I heard comments after the fact, I think he scared himself.
Because if he said it happened the game before,
or when the game he went out before, and he was okay, it was just,
he was like, oh, shit, I did something to that.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
So it's that.
It's trusting the knee again.
Mm-hmm.
He did it, came down, he landed,
oh, my weight was on his leg, oh, shit.
Mm-hmm.
And he got in the back and realized, oh, shit.
It ain't that bad, you know what I'm saying?
But still, there probably is something there.
But it's delicate, man, because he's trying to prove something.
He wants to win.
But it's what it costs.
Yeah.
I mean, I get he want to play, but he got a long career ahead.
And I think he should sit it down.
Just with everything coming up, I think a healthy –
I get he want to prove things, but him healthy and him really together,
that team is on a whole different level.
But I get he wants to prove things, but I just –
man, I just think he should think about himself right now
and be a little bit more selfish. This time of year, though, I done think he should think about himself right now. Yeah. And be a little bit more selfish.
This time of year, though, I done did it, right?
That knee shit, going through that knee shit,
and playoffs getting registered, like, shit, I feel great.
Knowing I ain't nowhere fucking near
where I should be going out there just trying to play.
So, like I said, I get it.
But when I should have sat my ass down.
Sherry, you're a four-time champ,
one of the greatest competitors the game has ever seen.
Do you respect him, B, for trying to give it a go out there,
or should he be thinking about his long-term future?
I respect him.
And Kenyon said it, as an athlete, you want to play,
and especially playoffs.
And probably in his mind, if I don't play,
like, he ain't winning, you know?
So I respect him just from a competitor and an athlete standpoint,
but, you know, the mental part of it
from am I okay, am I good to go?
I agree.
He probably should just sit it down
because it ain't just about this season and the playoffs. I agree. He probably should just sit it down.
Because it ain't just about this season and the playoffs.
Got a long future ahead. And the last thing he wants to do is not only re-injure that knee,
but there's so many other things that could happen
because he's trying to compensate for that knee.
Tons of respect, though. I, now you've been saying it.
You sound like a broken record.
Still the same feeling.
Shut it down.
Why are you
looking like that?
And then he's not doing all of this.
Rubby,
he knows.
I know. My whole career was taken apart But then he started doing all of this. Rubby, Rubby. He said he knows. He can't believe he's doing it.
I know.
I know.
My whole career was taken apart trying to come back, you know, trying to prove my point.
And, you know, the reality of this, being a competitor, no one gives a shit.
No one.
They don't care if you halfway limping, dog.
They don't. You a halfway limping dog they don't you a tiger you wounded good
they don't care right like if you coming back 25 75 the opposing person who's coming after you
does not feel sorry for you not at all right it doesn't excuse oh man i was half injured we don't
give a fuck about none of that either. Play or don't play, right?
So I think sometimes as athletes, we think someone's going to feel sorry for us if we're playing hurt.
Like, y'all are going to understand.
You know, I know I average, you know, 29 and 12, but right now I'm averaging, you know, 29 and 6,
and y'all going to, like, accept.
Like, no, no one gives a fuck.
Right.
If you lose and y'all get swept, you got swept. Yeah. Right. You can't use, oh, my knee wasn't bad. Then no one gives a fuck right if you lose and y'all get swept you got swept
you can't use oh my knee wasn't bad then no one cares and that's that's the problem with that
that we have to understand that we're being judged by 100 of what our ability is if we're not given
100 of our ability we we suck in the night i don't give a fuck if you're out there limping
I'm going to go past you
His knee, he fucked up, let's go
Let's go at it
I see him, he's setting picks
With that left leg
Because Maxie's right handed
You see they keep brushing right off of it
It's a meniscus
That's the outer part Every time that knee tweaks it right-handed you see they keep brushing right off of it every time right it's a meniscus right
that's the outer part every time that knee tweaks it it's wearing tear on it right it's not just you
coming up and down it's every time somebody's coming off that pick so now you're gonna be
starting getting a little bit thinner picks ain't uh you know they ain't what they supposed to be
over time i see it i mean you know i started trying to set pigs and I'd be on
this side and I see somebody coming real hard. I had the last fit on. Hell no, he crazy as
shit. Hit him with the Tessie rod. Like I remember set one, it was like a DHA and off
and I got to hand it off and I seen him coming it, and I thought about my knee. Oh my god damn it, dropped the ball. Hell, shit.
Have it.
Have at it.
Go get a move and scream.
Let's kick it out of that bitch.
Oh, shit.
Over the top.
I hope he ain't taking the Toradol when he get back there.
Don't even give him Toradol no more.
It's something different.
Oh, they don't give him Toradol?
Something different.
Oh, something different?
They done upgraded.
Oh, they got him.
Yeah, yeah.
That's when they upgraded the dope. Yeah, they be up to this 20. That 21st. Upgraded the dope.
Yeah, they be going in the back.
He be going in the back.
And they be sitting there.
Yeah.
Oh.
That new dope.
Yeah.
The new dope.
Smoke this crack right here.
That's that 2024 dope.
Yeah, that 20.
So, ain't that tour at all?
Trust me.
That was a good one, too.
What?
No, that's true.
I remember when I hit my...
Because I was protecting my knee.
I was like, okay, I can go. I can't can't do that okay hit me with that tore it all because
of my wrist i'm gonna try shit like i had a fresh knee as soon as the series over with oh my god
what's wrong with it i need a scope to it all we're off damn off. Damn, Toradol. Uh-huh.
Toradol, if you're looking for a sponsorship,
consider Gil's Arena to present a Boundary Dog Fantasy.
Woof, woof.
I know you had to take some, right?
I want to be a part of it.
You take some?
Absolutely.
Of course.
That's horrible.
In hindsight, do you regret doing that? I regretted it right after the game.
Like, as soon as the game was over, I regretted it.
Like, the couple times i did i'm
sitting on the toilet trying to take a shit and can't go damn like just nigga i was on the toilet
maybe 45 minutes just sitting there and could not go each time i did it you drop your phone
stop that shit they're trying to tell you where to take all you gotta eat chocolate eat coconut eat this eat that
Before the game some in a scarf and shit before they give me this shot
Fucking man still suck
Every Sunday every Sunday. Every Sunday.
Nice and early.
Before they had to be in the locker, they lined up nice and early.
Tore it all, baby.
Yeah.
The game is the game.
Didn't they say his shoulder came off the bone?
How'd he come back so fast?
How'd he come back in three weeks?
Yeah.
Tore it all. They got to get them checks.
Them checks are not guaranteed.
Why he got that club on his hand?
Hey, you see him now, whole arm like this.
What's up, y'all?
Tore it off.
So in addition to the Embiid knee situation, Tyrese Maxey missed shoot-around this morning with an illness.
Officially listed as questionable for game two.
After looking unstoppable at times in game one.
He don't play.
He playing.
Probably got bubble guts.
In the BGs, and he nervous.
Bad at the hotel or something.
Where they at, New York?
Yeah.
Oh, you have food poisoning, baby?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Nah, they never got you?
No, we didn't play on the road.
When I played the Knicks, I stayed at home.
No, in the playoffs.
No.
I didn't order.
I didn't eat at the hotel.
What are you implying about the city of New York?
But then, too, my room was never under my name.
So it didn't.
I had some crazy aliases.
What's your favorite alias?
Shit, which one? I had thirst and how to third
Yes
I had some good ones over the years mine was Bob Price when the price is right
Had a couple dumbass teammates when Barack was president.
Barack Obama's dumbass.
Brandon, Bob Barker or Bob Price?
Bob Price.
Bob Barker.
Bob Barker from The Price is Right.
Yeah, from The Price is Right, my bad.
Bob Price works, too.
Bob Price does work.
Yeah, my room's never under my name.
And I didn't stay on the same floor with my teammates, so...
Me either.
Probably a good idea.
Me either. Like a good idea.
Situation in New York, you had an issue with room service?
No, no, no.
Just when you're playing on the road in the playoffs,
remember, those hotel employees are fans of their team.
So they throw a little eye drops in your shit,
have your bubble gun.
Yes, sir.
Yes.
Yes, sir.
I put it past him. Remember uh was it uh so i got a tip well sacramento against lakers i tip well and kobe kept getting what room uh food
poison from rooms yeah it's too late we got that uh you got to tip them well during the season
nah chicago chicago i remember me at i ordered chicken nuggets chicken nuggets me and Larry Hughes chicken nuggets and had a real
bird had had diarrhea the whole goddamn you're undercooked Josh yeah we're just
gonna leave let's say seven we go cooking for three so we had to start
doing rules like like so the trainer had to go out and get food and stuff like
that you know there was no uber eats at the time so is it still like that today
I mean the teams travel with chefs now, or is it?
Nah.
You still room service.
Still room service.
Still room service.
The craziest shit happened was they released our room list to the newspaper.
That's so crazy.
Like, they gave our room list to the...
Who did that?
The hotel.
The hotel did it?
Somebody at the hotel.
You dealing with fans.
Yeah, they released our shit to the newspaper, and they printed it.
Your rooming list?
A-list isn't everything. Think about it.
Yo, alias is in everything.
Uh-huh.
I had to change the alias.
It was crazy.
Oh my God.
Think about if I was at the Beverly Hills Hotel and Denver Nuggets came into town against
my Lakers.
Your former favorite team.
Boy, Yolkish ain't getting up in the morning.
I can tell you that for damn sure.
They have bed bugs.
All kinds of shit fucked up in that room.
You sending a bunch of horses up to his room, too?
What? Oh, my gosh.
What?
All kinds of shit.
He's going to be cheating on us.
There's going to be so much going on on Yolkish's suite. He's going to be cheating on his wife. There's going to be so much going on. And Yoki's sweet.
He's crazy.
God damn it.
He going to be distracted, I can tell you that.
Fire alarm going off every 30 minutes.
In his room.
God damn it.
There ain't no sleep.
Wake up.
In his room.
No other room, just his.
Did y'all ever have any situations like that?
Him and Michael Malone.
Beyond the food issue, but fans bothering you, calling the room, or doing anything to try to get you off your game?
No, not fans.
I mean, fire alarms will go off in the playoffs.
I haven't seen it.
You know, college finals.
You know, during the finals of college, someone fucking with the fire alarms all the time.
Yeah.
In the playoffs.
Chicago, Cleveland.
Yeah.
Where y'all staying at?
The Ritz and Cleveland?
Shit.
You ain't played them in the playoffs.
See, they was fine doing regular season.
Playoffs?
Shit.
That Ritz that's connected to the mall?
Yeah, sure.
Fuck was y'all staying?
I know everybody else was staying.
Y'all was staying.
The Ritz that's in the mall, yeah. Y'all ain't stay there yet? Yeah. I ain't else is staying. Y'all are staying. The Ritz and I's in the mall, yeah.
Y'all ain't stay there yet?
Yeah, I'm staying.
I ain't playing for 12.
Oh, my God.
Playoff, you know how you go to the game,
so I'll go take a cab.
You told me they wouldn't let you in the Ritz.
They wouldn't let me in.
Did I see you, Eric?
What?
Top of the ramp.
What?
They say you can't come in the Ritz.
Oh, yeah, you ain't on the list.
You ain't on the list.
I just see you last week. You said, what's up, Gil? You ain't on the list you ain't on the list
Sitting and I you gonna have to wait
Closers right by Cleveland
No Arena in Cleveland? No. I didn't.
Well, never mind.
Oh, yeah, I'm that guy.
I don't play.
I'm not staying in the arena.
We'll find somewhere to go.
During the game?
Hell yeah.
We'll go watch the game.
Go watch the game somewhere else?
Go watch the game.
The strip club got good food.
Is it nice?
Yeah, it's cool.
Did you say in each? In Minnesota, it's one across the street.
I'm plenty play.
Hey, listen, dawg.
What time the bus?
What time the bus?
I get right by the fourth quarter.
I went right in the locker room.
I was like, damn, where you been?
I was watching the game.
Watching the game, man.
Quick, before we move on, Canyon.
What does Houston need to do in game two to get back on track?
Four and they can't give up
20-plus offensive rebounds. They got to make the game.
It has to be more important. The ball on the glass,
you got to go get it.

It's a dog fight, man.
Got some dogs you got to play.
You can't bring puppies to a dog fight, man. Got some dogs you got to play. You can't bring puppies to a dog fight, dog.
So you got to make it like it matters.
They turned it up in the playing game against Miami.
The way they played in the second half against Miami to get the seventh seed,
that's how you got to play from the tip.
With getting in people's shit, picking them up full court,
hitting somebody on the rebounds.
It got to mean something.
You did enough offensively to win, but you gave up 20-something offensive rebounds.
That's tough to do in offense.
For a small team, too.
Shout out.
But you know it's hard. Yeah, they're gonna the guards. Yeah Yeah, got to get to gotta put their wood on somebody. I'm not saying hurt nobody because everything is a flagrant nowadays
Run in there the wrong way ain't nothing wrong with a flagrant
Reckless demo put my shoulder in your sternum. That's all.
I ain't going to elbow you. I ain't going to swing it at your face.
I'm going to put my shoulder in your sternum and knock your ass down
and step over you.
Put that hip on him, running full speed.
Some go, you're going to hit the ground.
Somebody going to hit the floor in that next game if I'm feeling,
and consistently, in order for us to have a chance.
Brunson five offensive rebounds in the game.
Josh Hart four, Mitchell Robinson seven.
But look, stuff like that, that should be in your scouting report. Y'all ain't reading your scouting report. hands brunson five offensive rebounds in the game josh hart for mitchell robinson seven but little
stuff like that yeah that should be in your scouting report y'all ain't reading your scouting
report because your scouting reports that hell josh hart face guard him when the shot goes up
right so yeah me you ain't getting no defensive rebounds today because you have josh hart and that
means you don't get no defense that means he don't get no offense yeah that means he don't get no offense. Yeah, that's... Right? But those are the things that's not shown inside of a game stat.
So they can't do it.
Yeah, so I might not have, like, I'm averaging five.
This series, none.
Hold on, you ain't getting none.
I might not average none because I got to keep this dude
from getting offensive rebounds.
Yeah.
That's what the series is for.
You got to sacrifice things.
This thing, you just can't play the series the same same right you I got to take certain things away from you
yeah what I was saying other day you have somebody said in the group chat
Grayson Allen ain't doing something I said she no open looks for him yeah
right mm-hmm they get no open looks right now bro
they make me put the ball on the deck yeah put it on the deck do you go out to
go make a play at the rim yep we're not letting you shoot 46 percent three in
this no we I refuse to well speaking of Grayson out in the Suns. Let's let's keep things moving
But we'll get but yeah, they need to make this shit ugly
I mean this shit gotta be like the people that need to look like Philadelphia at their mother fuck ugly
Well 90s, but not a not a quality looking people in Philadelphia overall.
I'm just, y'all been in Philly, man.
I live in Philly.
Y'all know that shit gloomy out there, bitch.
It's dark.
Dark, gloomy, that way they got to play basketball.
Go back to the early 2000s, freeway, freeway, them just had your beard and just.
Dude, play like Santa, boo, that motherfucker boo Santa Claus out there, bitch. They rough, goddamn it. Dude, play like Santa. Booze, that motherfucker booze Santa Claus out there, bitch.
They rough, nigga, goddammit.
Let's play that way.
Play that way.
Let's move to the west.
Sons of Wolves met up in Minnesota for game one of their opening round series.
It was the Young Ninja and Ant-Man versus the Old Ninja and KD,
and the Young Ninja took round one.
I can't even say, when I try to say it, I still get it.
I'm trying not to get flagged
on YouTube, ladies and gentlemen, but Airman was a beast. We talk about the MJ comps. He was out
there looking right like a young Mike. I'm not going to say he's there yet, but dropped 33 points,
nine rebounds, and six assists in the game, including 18 in the third quarter, and that is
not a travel, ladies and gentlemen.
Beautiful step through.
Whoever wanted that work got it.
Balling out in the 81s.
KD got that work as well.
Yes, come.
Ant-Man's playground.
And then there was this moment that was seen around the basketball world.
Hit the three and gate, KD's grill.
No.
Told him, you can't guard me.
Didn't I tell you?
What'd I tell you?
Called him an old-ass N-word.
Wow.
And proceeded to give him some more buckets in the process.
And then let KD know the future is now,
old man.
But Durant did lead
the Suns with 31 points,
was having his way
on offense,
giving work to whoever
was trying to guard him.
Devin Booker had 18
and 5 and 6,
but was 5 for 16
from the field.
Bradley Beal had 15.
Grayson Allen,
who you mentioned
earlier,
struggled going 0 for 3,
left the game
in the third quarter
with a sprained ankle.
His status for game 2,
uncertain.
But after the game, Ant-Man talked about getting the best of his favorite player the little back and forth with Kevin Durant there in the third quarter how fun is that and what do you make of
the atmosphere tonight um I think everybody here knows that's my favorite player of all time so
that was probably one of the best feelings ever in my whole life for for sure. Wow. That even makes it worse.
Wow.
That makes it worse, though.
Why does that make it worse?
Because being the favorite player,
and he just did that to you,
and then still says,
that's my favorite player,
kind of like,
you would rather him throw some jabs at you and not give you some compliments.
Like, oh, damn.
Motherfucker killed me, and he still gave me the compliment
I'm good now cuz why why cuz Katie probably killed him probably last year or the year before that
Oh, yeah, but you don't want that compliment though that that compliment hurt
No, I mean, I mean, yeah, I just dumped on my favorite player
Still my god
No, you still got you still be didn't give him 33
Yeah, but he's gay to Tina. He's a team sport man Katie got some of those
Showing him love still he still don't like this. That's showing him respect. Like, I don't think it's...
I love Anthony Edwards, his fucking energy,
his smile about the game,
his enthusiasm about playing and playing,
playing well and competing, man.
Like, that's what the league needs.
Like, the league needs that.
And...
Mm-hmm.
Yeah.
That's why he's the face.
Shit, that boy good. That's why he's the face of the NBA. The face of the National Basketball Association. Yeah, I think he's the face. That boy good.
That's why he's the face of the NBA.
The face of the National Basketball Association.
Yeah, I think he's the face.
I think it's time.
Right now, is he getting...
Is he here right now or is he getting there?
He's getting there.
He's getting there.
But next year I can see him doing a lot more with the NBA and the NBA pushing him.
Yeah.
Because he just got that...
It's what the NBA wants.
It's what the NBA needs.
And we're not saying Anstere yet yet, but good you talk about megastars
He's checking a lot of boxes got the personality signature shoe
Getting buckets doing work. Obviously this postseason will help
Him get to that level, but it's the only thing that's holding back is the city
It's only thing holding them back. It's a fine city dude. Oh yeah, it's a nice city. Tons of targets. Tons of targets. Stupid.
I know he just dropped them lows.
Y'all see the lows that's coming?
Lows that's coming this summer.
He could do the AE1 lows.
Just say if there was a timeframe on it.
Just say if it was four years, right?
For him to be the face.
Because LeBron going to still be here for another couple years, right? Just say if it was four years right for him to be the face So like LeBron go still be here for another couple years right step. Let's say if it was four years, right? Yeah
If he was in New York them for would be to do
Yeah
Chicago them for would be to do a bigger market
That it accelerated. Mm-hmm, but him being to me to Minnesota, it's only so much that media coverage
and people can do.
Even in this day and age.
Well, KG got MVP'd.
Not to compare him to MVP.
But that's MVP.
He wasn't the face of the NBA.
You're talking about being the face of the league.
Right, right, right, right.
It was easier for them to push Braun in Cleveland
because of what he came in with.
The hype was already there.
The chosen one.
The hype was already there surrounding LeBron when he came in.
So it was easier for them to put that stigma on him for face of the league then.
That makes sense.
It's a different story playing in Minnesota when you and him, you're four.
You're four.
And so he's still a couple years away, right?
Yeah.
And that's the city that he plays in.
And it's just now becoming a thing,
which we all agree that it's a great possibility.
He's on the right trajectory for it.
But I just think the city that he's playing in because of the media coverage and
because of just what it is like Minnesota, nice city but it's just what it is these
are the facts. And his fourth season 22 years old how far away do you say
realistically is he from being the face of league? He said 26, four years. But can he
fast track that? If he gets out of Minnesota, yes.
That's what I just said.
But if he brings a chip to Minnesota, can he fast track it?
Three years?
Okay, so I'm just asking.
I'm just asking.
What I'm saying is Jokic has two MVPs.
What's the name over there?
He can't even crack the top ten in Jersey sales portion.
Yeah, but you know why.
He doesn't care about that.
But you know why.
Still, no one cares.
Like even when Russell, like think if Russell was in Los Angeles with the Lakers when he averaged a triple-double.
Yeah, that's fair.
Think about it.
When he averaged that triple-double, if he was here,
Lemon Daddy, motherfucker, averaged 12.
He got billboards everywhere.
He does have Lemon Daddy billboards.
He has 12.
He's Lemon Daddy. But that's because we're here, though.
We don't know, like, I just think it's different, man.
I just think it's different.
There's only Oklahoma City.
Who's watching?
How many TV games you going to get?
Ain't nobody.
We'll see after this year.
We'll see after this year
I'm sure they'll get a lot more TV games after this year didn't get it when he was there
They didn't get it when Katie knew him was there. It was okay. See did you say they were on TV a lot?
Nobody cares man. Oh
Even a top even a top every
Everybody in Oklahoma City can watch the game when a bitches own. Mm-hmm every single household in Oklahoma City can watch the game when that bitch is on.
Every single household in Oklahoma City can watch it.
With every TV in the house.
With every TV in the household on.
And it still wouldn't be on the radar if he was in New York.
I'm saying the people in New York tuned in.
It could be one borough in New York that watches shit.
It could equal the amount of people that's in Oklahoma City.
So nobody was running to the TV when KD and them was playing?
No.
Okay, see, and they was on...
Just like nobody's...
Just nobody was running on TV when Shea's here.
Yeah, I mean, that's a...
Yeah, but it's only one person.
But nobody...
It's the...
It's the...
It's the Oakland...
I think Ant got it.
We don't even know what time TV come on.
I'm saying he does...
He can stay in Minnesota,
but it's going to take a little long. That's what we're saying. We're not saying he's not. No, stay in Minnesota, but it's going to take a little longer is what we're saying.
We're not saying he's not.
No, he can't.
It's just going to take a little longer.
So I ask you the same question.
Would you say the same thing about a guy like Wimby being in a smaller market?
Can he outshine those issues?
Or are the Spurs in a different?
Spurs have five championships already.
So Spurs have five championships already. So, Spurs have five championships.
Last I checked,
let me go
in my sports Rolodex history.
Minnesota guys.
They're the worst
franchise in...
They got a bunch of targets, Kenyon.
A fine community.
San Antonio got five.
Right? I think with the last, like, 40-some years or just history,
Minnesota and Clippers are the worst franchises with win percentages and everything.
Sports history.
Sports history.
That's why.
And NBA.
Let you know.
Damn.
Yeah, but
Wendy got a good chance because of history of where he is for sure right and who he is now We now make sense where he's from is the world stage and not just him more global appeal global appeal more
Because he's a fucking freak of nature walking around
So so that's sure are we watching Ant-Man take another leap in this season as we speak?
It seems like he elevated his game this year, kind of took the reins over from Cat to become more or less the face of the Timberwolves franchise.
But now, this first game won performance.
I think so.
Just what he's been able to do all season.
But when you get to the playoffs, it's just different.
You know, it's the playoffs.
The level's different.
And now everybody knows what you can do.
And for him to be able to do what he did the other night is impressive.
And I love what he said about KD.
Like, to me, that's, yeah, I just kicked your ass,
but I still respect you like you were my favorite
But the other side to me isn't so much about what he said
But how is Katie gonna respond?
Yeah, right cuz if I hear that I'm like
He lit up when he talked about KD. He did.
I'm saying,
it wasn't like he was just like, he lit up.
I still fuck with dude, man.
He was like,
this was probably the happiest moment for me.
In basketball,
and I went number one.
And I did it against my favorite player of all time.
Yeah.
So again, KD, though,
I'm sure KD will look at that like,
all right, but, uh...
Oh.
Yeah.
Okay, let's see what will happen.
I'm expecting a 40 to 50 piece from KD
in game two just to...
Like, people like...
Well, I'm not...
Ant did the shit.
He averaged 32 in the playoffs last year.
Yeah.
So, get my haircut on Saturday
and the fucking barber say
that Anthony Edwards choked in the playoffs last year, and I So, get my haircut on Saturday and the fucking barber said that Anthony Edwards
choked in the playoffs last year.
And I was like, how?
It was a barbershop compliment.
Yeah, but I'm like, how?
Like, when the game was on the line and missed a couple shots.
Really, nigga.
And missed a couple shots when the game, when I turned it on, I said, boy, you mother that
ain't never played.
Boy, y'all killed on, I said, boy, you mother that ain't never played,
boy, y'all, y'all kill me, man.
Yeah.
Hey, you ain't know, but you know more about this.
They have 32 in the playoff series.
They be watching.
You ever did it?
Yeah, they be listening, man.
They be listening to the TV, man.
I'm like, sometimes you got to watch that game with the volume off so you can just,
you can see it for yourself
And trust me it'll be a whole lot different
Then when you listening to it you appreciate it better when you turn the volume off because as effortless as
Katie was scoring that thing
He had that thing automatic and I'm like, oh he got this thing automatic. I thought it was gonna be be one of them nights. One of them days. That's how I was looking.
Right?
But then the way Ant's joint looked in the third quarter,
how he turned it on in the third, like it was something to see.
It was something from somebody who loved hoop.
If you're a fan of basketball, if you ain't watched a young boy play,
I think you should tune in.
And you won't be disappointed watching anything else
We got a ton of great playoff series
but this to me feels like this is gonna be the one that everybody gravitates towards cuz a
Lot of bug getting trash talk. It has the ingredient. Well, the book can't go 5 and 15 again
Yeah, that damn show can't happen. You gotta put the be gotta show up
You gotta show up. He got to show up. Did every home team win?
Yes.
Every home team won, right?
Yes.
All right, so everybody took care of business.
Yeah.
It's only one game.
Yeah.
Which is rare.
Usually someone gets upset.
Yeah, that's what they're supposed to do.
So we talk about Ant being able to cook his favorite player.
I got to ask you guys here on this couch, did you ever get to cook your favorite
player when you were hooking? Fuck yeah. Hell yeah. Hell yeah. We're gonna go around Brandon, we'll start with yourself.
Damn. Well I mean you were very very excited about it. Put it on the grill then.
We want to see, open the hood up. I want to see what you got on the grill
But you got a smoker. I had a lot of favorite players
But I mean, I think like just coming in Chauncey played y'all like going against Chauncey Darren Williams. That wasn't your favorite
Those are some of my favorite players
Those were some of my favorite players
Like those are his favorite? AI.
Like, those were his favorites. But AI was out.
AI didn't play, though.
AI didn't.
AI wasn't playing.
Okay.
Brandon, tell your truth.
Don't let Gil get you off.
It was just the guys that were still at the height of their career playing at the time.
So of all those, who was your favorite?
Well, playing against Kobe.
And did you cook Kobe?
Did you cook him?
I gave him lunch.
Yeah.
As somebody who did not play in the National Basketball Association,
you tell me you gave Kobe 20-something.
Yeah, like... The elevation.
The elevation on the list.
How much did Kobe have, though?
I don't know.
He was guarding me the whole time.
That's when he was, like, challenging all the point guards.
So he was guarding, like, Kyrie, myself.
He was, like, taking that challenge on.
So it was dope, though.
Can you ever get to cook one of your favorite players?
That's a good one.
No, I don't have a favorite player.
I have... Your favorite player wasn't in it. Can you never get the because one of your favorite players? Sean Camp but no
Look like somebody ate Sean Kim. Yeah, yeah. You didn't have rain, man. You had to puddle. Yeah.
You had to puddle.
Rain drop.
Yeah, man.
Nah, shout out Sean.
Nah.
When you tell the story, you just say Sean Kim,
and we will put the peak Sean Kim in our mind.
I always give it Sean Kim work.
I remember that one, yeah.
Yeah, nah, nah.
Sean Kim was my guy, but I would have loved to play it against, yeah.
Wow.
Nah, that would have been, I'm saying, that would have been something see. Sherri, did you ever get to cook one of your favorite players?
It was different, because I got started at the WNBA.
You was the favorite player.
Well, there were no players before me that I looked up to and said,
I can't wait to play against her. I was cooking people. Yeah, you was cooking people
I was you everybody's call you just say
It was you huh? It was you that was it. Well, no, it wasn't just me
I was one of them, but our team was one where everybody was like, oh, okay
Mm-hmm. We got to try and give them buckets
did you ever find yourself on the other side in more of a KD like situation where?
Hmm. Yeah, I mean who idolized you lots of yeah lots of times. What they did happen
And Gil you were super excited,
so please share your story of cooking your favorite player.
Come on, you already know.
I want to know.
I want to know.
I'm a Laker fan since I was little.
Oh, Kobe.
Kobe.
What'd you give him?
60.
60.
Stop.
60.
Stop.
And, hey, how you doing?
Good game. Can I get autographs?
You're my favorite society. I know I know I scored 60 in this but can you sign it?
Did he start you the whole game?
33 of it, but when it counted into the fourth and all over time, what?
He was so mad bro. He was so his quote he signed your dress
Hell no No, no kobe. Yeah. Yeah, kobe quote on it. He was mad And he was so mad
He was mad
Jill was just throwing shit up
quality shot
Kobe said my name It was like yeah, Kobe said my name. What'd you say? Kobe said my name. What'd you say in the press conference?
It was like, yeah, Kobe said that you didn't have a conscience out there.
And, you know, he wasn't taking something about quality shots.
And I said, my new nickname is Quality Shots.
I was like, that's Kobe, dog.
All my friends was there.
Like, we were big Kobe fans.
Like, I had a little mini fro like Kobe.
Wow. Even when I came into the league like that was supposed to be like a little Kobe fro.
Ended up looking more like Ben Wallace. More no-be than Kobe.
Yeah, ended up being more like little Ben Wallace.
Looked like he was in the Temptations. Yeah.
By a heartbeat. Leon. Leon.
Nice like this.
I ended up getting a perm and it fell out. I was trying to... No, no, no, no.
Because you know he had like the crinkly look.
You remember the crinkly look, right?
Yeah.
So my hair didn't move like that.
It was more straight African roots, right?
So it was...
A little more coarse.
It was like this long, but it...
Of course.
Yeah, yeah.
It was...
Juices and berries.
Juices and berries.
So I had to get it straightened, braided, and then I'll take the braids out to have
the crinkly look.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, have the crew. Yeah. Yeah
Yeah, it fell out
Nothing permanent to my hair. No, he left the permit too red for Malcolm I just woke up I just woke up it was gone
like I don't know somebody came in there and cut it up then
what you get for putting up
tactics in your hair,
Gil Dobbs, kid.
All right, well,
let's keep it moving.
We'll stay in the West.
Talk about Gil's
former favorite team,
Brandon's current favorite team.
The Lakers
faced off
against the Nuggets.
What about your favorite team?
Kenyon, I'm merely a host now.
Oh, now you're
merely a host.
Non-denominational.
I'm not going to let you get off the train.
I'm standing behind it.
Still celebrating the playing championship from last week.
I'm standing behind you.
You still on that train.
Still celebrating.
Playing championship hangover.
Still celebrating.
Yo, you are hooked up to that train, dog.
It's unfortunate, okay?
Don't get off the train like that.
We are remaining positive, optimistic.
Joker driving that joint.
Driving your train.
Yeah.
Okay, I see what we got going on.
Clipper Fed Gill.
Clipper Gill versus Clipper Diver.
So, Lakers and Nuggets met up in Diver on 420 for game one
in a rematch of last year's Western Conference Finals and the purple
Go pack got smoked smoked and Laker pack. Yo can set the tone before the game
Dressing up like Groot, then proceeded to make the Lakers his minions.
Lakers look solid in the first half, though, leading by as much as 12 in the second quarter.
Wait, that was him?
Yeah.
Oh!
You didn't have to show that.
You didn't have to put that in there.
Why not?
I thought you weren't a Laker fan.
I was merely a host.
I am still a supporter of LeBron and the Lakers.
He's so methodical.
Like any good media member, I have to be unbiased.
But like I said, Lakers looked good in the first half.
Had a 12-point lead.
Nuggets closed the gap, though.
AD and LeBron looked good.
AD and LeBron did look good as representatives.
The rest of them dudes need to move around, as Rashad would around as Rashad said. Second half was a little bit different.
Nuggets went on a 13-0 run in the third quarter to take a 15-point lead in the
fourth quarter. Jokic unstoppable finish with 32 points. Come here. 12 rebounds, 7
assists, 2 steals. Jamal Murray added 22 points, 10 dimes, 6 rebounds. MPJ had 19. And KCP scored all 12 of his points in the second half.
Hey, man, that was a nice-ass play, man.
I saw that.
Rewind that, man.
I'm sorry.
I saw that.
That's fucking brilliant.
That's IQ.
We just take our word for it.
No, no, no, no.
Right here.
Right here.
Look, look.
He got LeBron, right?
Yep.
He uses his arm to hold LeBron off so he can push off.
Yeah, he's stealing.
He stops LeBron, seals him right there off why he's still not LeBron seals
I'm right there. I'll boot pushes him back. Yeah, yeah, get that white man as that's IQ. Yeah
And rewind it someone call it a foul, but I understand the big it's your man
Who ain't in the play?
Who 80 yeah, man?
Yeah, yeah, wait back there. Oh, yeah
Fucking playoffs dog. Yeah, yes playoffs. Yeah, you're there. Yeah. Where he at? Well, he back there. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
In the pink shoes.
Fucking playoffs, dog.
Yeah, yeah, it's playoffs.
Yeah, you right.
You supposed to sprint down.
Shit unacceptable, man.
Hey.
Your first two stats, you supposed to be running.
Yeah.
Dog, game on before we down nine.
Yeah, so many.
You need to get your big ass down there, man.
All right, man.
What'd he say?
Play it one more time, please.
You need to get your big ass down there, man.
And you need to get your big ass down there, man.
And you need to get your big ass down there, man. And you need to get your big ass down there, man. And you need to get your big ass down there, man. And you need to get your big ass down there, man. All right. What is that? Play it one more time, please. You need to get his big
ass down there, man. AD did do his thing though. 32 points, 14 rebounds, five assists, four
blocks in 45 minutes. But that's important. Right here, you got, yeah, we know what happened,
whatever happened on the offense and you're supposed to make it up on the defense. Yes.
Right, get it back. He didn't even cross half court No, yo, but that play by yoke bill. Thank you. It's crazy bro. That IQ is
Like like who's thinking that like who has a big y'all see burn right here. I'm a
Cue man any running
And then he stops and realized oh shit hold on let me go ahead back him up a little bit watch
He's running past them. He sees him, too.
And says, all right.
Watch out.
LeBron tried to grab his own.
Someone said it's a foul, but.
It was a foul.
No, I'm just kidding.
It's playoff.
You can't call that, though.
You ain't calling that.
Because the refs ain't looking at that.
Yeah, for sure.
Now, that's, like you guys said, basketball IQ.
It's the little subtle things that make the difference in games like that.
Brian had 27 points, 19 in the first half.
A little slower in the second half.
Six rebounds, eight dimes, but seven turnovers as well.
So, Nuggets got their ninth straight win over the Lakers,
including five straight in the playoffs.
What were your thoughts on the Lakers-Nuggets game one, Kenny?
We'll start with yourself.
They just fed the baby and burped the baby again.
Go ahead.
Let it go.
Let it out.
I'm going to put my hands in my pocket when I talk about the Lakers.
It just seems to be.
Come here.
All 17 of them burping, y'all, just one by one.
It's just.
So I felt like they were playing with the Lakers' emotions.
No, it was...
For whatever reason, I don't know what it is,
your man, they got their number.
No, you know who you've been on all season.
No, go ahead, just go ahead.
You can point at me.
D-Lo, his guy.
Mm-hmm.
But I talked to D-Lo, guy. Mm-hmm. Right?
They got his number for real.
I don't know what it is.
Yeah, he can't, yeah.
Yeah, he, I don't know what it is.
Yeah, they got your man's number, man.
I mean.
He started off as D'Lo.
It looked like he became, what, D'Angelo.
Yeah, but I don't know.
Yeah, no, they just come down to it.
Anthony Davis does what he does.
LeBron go do what they do.
They still got the best player on the floor, man.
And it's half-court basketball.
They want it.
They playing like it.
Throw the ball to 15 when in doubt, man.
And he going to make the right play,
and they going to take the best shot each possession.
So,
Brandon, I see you have... Nuggets and five.
Brandon, you have your hands in your pockets, which has
become a recurring theme with the
Lakers the past few years.
Burping at me. I mean, it's
supporting cast. It's supporting cast. I mean,
Gil was saying earlier, you know, if
D'Lo
can, you know, average what he was averaging 16, 17, the Lakers have a chance.
But the supporting cast got to show up and help.
I mean, it could be the altitude in Denver.
I don't know.
But, yeah, I mean, you know what AD and Bron going to do,
but the supporting cast got to show up.
You know all them games ain't been in Denver, right?
Yeah, I know, but, you know.
I'm just saying.
But you know how it is. They ain't played all nine. These last nine ain't been in Denver, right? Yeah, I know, but you know. I'm just saying. But you know how it is.
They ain't played all nine.
These last nine ain't been in Denver.
Yeah, but you know that first one after the second half.
Some of them have.
You can't have a 12-point lead.
Then just what?
I agree with you.
LeBron and AD did what they're supposed to do.
Nobody else showed up.
And that's what happened last year.
So, they're done.
Yeah, so D'Angelo Russell finished with 13.
Austin Reeves finished with 13 as well.
They were combined 11 for 29 from the field.
But it's game one, though.
Three for 15 from three.
It's game one. Everybody took care of it.
But the thing is about playoff basketball and winning basketball, right?
Those guys
going to do what they do.
Yep. We know this.
Yeah.
Anthony Davis might come out
and you know what he might do tonight.
Just from his track record. He had a great
game, game one.
History has said he might not
play as well in the next one. We saw that last postseason.
That's all I'm saying.
But I'm not saying he's not, but this is what he has proven.
We know LeBron going to come out and have him 27,
whatever he's going to do.
The rest of you guys, we're going to shut your water off.
We're going to make y'all do something that you're not comfortable doing
that we didn't see y'all do for having him in the games you played
in the regular season.
And let's see how good you are at basketball now. Can you help us win? And that's what coaching is. Like, okay, he does this well, we're going to take that
away. He does this well, we're going to take that away. LeBron going to do that, AD going
to do that, but we're going to not let these guys do what they do well. And that's going
to be the recipe for winning it worked last
year as you call it in a minimum out of game that you can play thank you can't
for a off series for being respectful
right and from is this Laker team a better team this year than they were last year? I
Don't think so
So I think this year's Denver team might be a little better they more experienced they more seasoned this year
and that recipe work
last year with I
Don't know shit about basketball. It's just what I read in the book.
Somebody told me on the way up here today.
So we have a... They're the defending champs.
So, like, they're going to show up.
They know everybody's coming for what they have,
and the Lakers are just stop a bump in
the road sure as you mentioned LeBron ad both play very very well not so much
Torian Prince the only player off the bench to score it so that's the that's
the problem because there's no offense for everyone to get involved I think I
don't know if ham or the way the team is set up,
but it's not set up for playoff winning, right?
In playoff, we're going to cut certain things off, right?
For real, so you can win anything.
True.
Right, so yeah.
What about on the defensive end?
I hear what you're saying offensively.
On the defensive end, you're trying to guard a team
that understands in and out basketball. Right, so if you're cutting outly but on the defensive end you're trying to guard a team that understands
in and out basketball true right so if you're 47 wins if you're cutting out the perimeter
right yoka just goes down low right if you try to double everyone knows how to cut so
you're saying all right michael porter jr we're gonna make you you we're gonna make you the number
one option denver's like no you're not bring it on down here we're
gonna do the switch we're gonna play our game well with the lakers and a lot of teams lakers
if you cut off lebron no one else knows how to do anything else because there's no in out game so if
ad was like yokich i'm gonna play down low right and then i start eating here eventually like oh
shit no we're gonna double okay now
it really here prince y'all get open shots not like oh we're gonna go back now you go here now
he like there's these different types of games they can play and yokage is showing you all of
it in the same game but different quarters he's doing something different and that's that's the
problem are we just gonna switch every day? All right
All right, are you going okay?
LeBron's helping back door flop
Run over there LeBron pick and roll Brian on me now little baby, right?
He's he's do he's manipulating every scheme that they have and then on the office event
There's just you're only gonna do one thing pick them all
ad ad pop all right ad iso don't have to worry about ad posting up right you don't have to worry
about doubling like you know so now all the guys that you need we don't have to we don't have to
i don't have to leave him ad is gonna shoot a jumper he's gonna pop to the three he ain't gonna
put nobody in foul trouble in the post.
And that's what ends up happening with the Blake show.
Oh, he is the mismatch. I was going to say, you just can't guard him.
Like, if he was just one-dimensional, it would be easier to guard,
but he's not one-dimensional.
Yeah.
So, speaking of the Lakers supporting cast,
we have a Mostly Fans question from UnderdogUserish24.
Ish. Man. The Lakers. We have a mostly fans question from underdog user Ish24. Ish. Man.
The Clakers.
We get swept. It's over
for us. We have nothing we can do.
And do you believe at this
point anyone is going to want
D'Angelo Russell based off of
the crap performance? I already know he's
going to have the whole series.
What's his value if he
doesn't play well all series like I expect?
If we're going to give you the John Tate Porter
lifetime ban from Gills Arena,
we don't need that negativity. Be positive.
Be positive.
Speak good thoughts.
Don't put that in the universe.
He said it's over.
It's one game.
It is one game.
What did he say? His value. How is this series gonna impact D'Lo's value? We have a player option. Ability to become a free
agent this offseason. Shit, none. Play like shit, I opt in. I play well, I opt out.. It's fucking that fucking plain and simple. Either way.
Can't lose.
Can't lose.
It's called a play option.
A play option for a reason.
Oh, my God.
My decision.
Hell, it's goddamn simple.
I'm not opting out if I play like shit and we get swept.
Hop it in.
Give me this 18.
Now if I average 30.
Go test that market.
These next three games, I'm 30 30 30
Easy
Simple man
Will you put it like that you make a tremendous amount
Yeah, it makes a lot of sense when you look at this Lakers squad third quarter has been an issue for them
For a while now what adjustments the Lakers need, third quarter has been an issue for them for a while.
Now, what adjustments do the Lakers need to make to stop being so sloppy in the third quarter?
They were up three halftime.
Nuggets blew the doors off in the third.
Now they were trying to play catch up in the fourth.
Listen, I don't care what quarter it is, where they're playing.
AD and LeBron have to have help.
And right now,
I don't know
who that is,
who's bringing it,
where it's coming from.
I don't know.
I don't know.
They just,
I don't know.
They need help.
Coming out of halftime
is a problem.
Then fucking change
your halftime. Either change your speech fucking shit your halftime either change the speech
Changed the rhythm of where you go
Here watch the halftime show
You got fat Bobby Brown out there.
Watch them.
I don't give a shit.
Don't go in the back.
Because when you go in the back, that night quill is hitting your asses.
Because it's fucking up the third quarter every time.
So if it's a habit, change it.
Shit, I don't know if it's his speech.
Oh, yeah, we're doing it.
You got Bobby Brown out there.
Sloppy in the second, too.
So let's not excuse that. Sloppy in the second. We So that's not it Let's not excuse that sloppy in the second row by
Did they have a DM bronze in at the game at the end of the third? Oh
Let me see was a DM running. I think Bron was
Struggling they need to finish the third quarter with Brian and 80
Beginning of the third quarter.
They start off horrible.
Yeah, it take that
39-year-old guy
a little time
to get going, huh?
They were both there.
As an old,
old sports better.
Old, back long,
long, long, long time ago.
On LeBron's teams, no matter what team he was,
let's say the over-under was, let's say, 215.
It'd be 110 in the first half and then 105 in the second half.
For sure,
they wasn't scoring 105.
Let's just say he naturally,
his teams, whatever team he's on,
naturally plays anywhere
from 90 points
to like 105.
Slow as hell.
Second half.
It's bad.
He can need 93 points to hit the over and then go under.
Just naturally, he plays at a slower tempo in the second half.
So it was a game down.
That's just a natural thing.
Trying to control the game.
Trying to control the game too much, yeah.
Trying to control each possession.
It's all about winning.
So for him, it's all about winning.
And it wasn't the thing to do that.
I dictate where the ball going
Man first had him up. It's 120 second half 85. He's like god damn
so we talked about
Canes you put a yoke at burping the Lakers, but now let's
Put our defensive cap on your expert in the subject
What would be your game plan to slow Joker down, or is that even possible at this point?
There's no such thing in this manner
because he can go out and have 17 assists.
So, it's not, there's no such thing in this manner.
Only thing you can do is try to stay between him and the basket
and make each possession tough.
Try not to switch picking roles and put smalls on him.
But this league is not made.
You got bigs in the league, but it's not like it used to be.
We got multiple bigs, so he gonna have his way.
Because your starting big, more than likely,
he gonna get him in foul trouble.
So do you make him, try to make him a jump shooter?
It's impossible, because you gonna put the ball on the floor
and go get to his spot.
Like, do you, if you catching the po-
it's just, you gotta pick your poison with him, but just try to his spot. Like, do you, if you're catching the pole, it's just, you got to pick your poison with him.
But just try to make each possession tough, man.
Contest passes.
Not letting him get free looks in the passing lane,
things like that.
Contest all his jump shots, stay down on the pump fake.
You know, that's...
I'm going to pick a lot.
For one, I'm not letting him bring the ball up the floor
if I'm an opposing coach.
If he bring the ball up the floor, I'm gonna pressure him.
Like, if they...
If he's dribbling the ball up the floor,
I'm gonna make him turn, I'm gonna make him...
He's gonna have to pass that bitch to get off of it.
Yeah, but don't let him walk it up.
I'm not gonna let him bring the ball up the floor.
Yeah.
He's gonna have to exert some energy
to bring the ball up the floor if I'm an opposing coach.
So you just gotta learn to play the game within the game with a great player like that taking certain
things away from him making him catch the ball where you wanted me to catch it
at times so you know how what defense that you can play in these spots and
that's things I used to do like with Tim Duncan right great I'm gonna take
something away I'm not letting you shoot your bank shot like it gets me you never shot it mm-hmm I'm a crouch right that's my thing I'm a crouch you when I'm gonna take something away I'm not letting you shoot your bank shot like it gets me you never shot it mm-hmm I'm a crouch right that's my thing I'm
a crouch you well I'm gonna make you go to you run in the middle if you're
making that you own cool yeah I'm gonna stunt you sometime on the pick and roll
and free throw line I'm gonna bait you in the shoot like it's just certain
things I'm gonna do to make you think about it right so I don't see enough
people playing a game within a game with Nikola.
It's just he catches the ball where he wants to catch it all the time,
makes the move that he wants to make.
He dictates everything for the offense,
and not too many times is it the defense is dictating things with him.
You've got to try to implement that as much as you can,
but you've got great shooters around him.
I get that.
But it's doing your work early and watching film
and really studying his tendencies and things like that.
And they're not doing that.
Because he's doing the same thing each and every time
when he plays the same guys.
It's like he's studying day defense. like knowing that you can't do this cuz
Like I'm surprised that they don't push him like if I'm if I'm playing deep if I'm scouting him when he's on the right block
I'm a I'm a
Push him back baseline right push him back baseline and double from the baseline side
Which means he has to because he's not to be able to pass that way, right?
Because now you have, you have it blockade for him,
so now he has to turn back around.
Once he picks it up and turns back around,
then you can get back out.
But they let him go middle every time.
But if you double, like, then,
if, um, if Aaron Gordon on the floor,
he just going to cut and it's going to be a dunk,
because he going to go to shoot that motherfucker.
He going to cut, he just going to pass.
But what I'm saying is Aaron Gordon is always on a baseline
See so when he goes middle and you try to help middle that's where that lock up either way you pass
He's gonna find him off trust. Yeah, so when he goes baseline, he's gonna be a baseline too
He can't lock from the base, but he gonna be opposite and he gonna be opposite side in the cold every time
Yeah on the baseline side, but that's where you coming from. You're coming from the baseline side
You know what? I make me spin. They're gonna drop it to you. Go. Yeah, he gonna baseline side, but that's where you're coming from. You're coming from the baseline side. So once you make me spin...
Then he's going to drop it to him.
As soon as you go, he's going to drop it right behind you.
That's what I would do.
That's the pass he's going to have to do versus him going middle, sitting here, messing with the fat body.
That's what I think about all day, right?
Hooks, lobs.
So with me, if I'm playing middle, I'm going to tell you don't double.
We're going to stay home.
Every possession, we're going to fucking stay home because I know
how I'm going to play defense on him. Right?
I'm not going to foul him.
I'm going to make every possession tough.
And if he score that bitch, good.
That's just the way I'm going to play because I know I'm going to work
my ass off each possession
and making him do the things that I want him to
do. He's a great player. Absolutely.
You're going to work.
So just Anthony Davis? Yeah.
Because I see
if you try to keep Anthony Davis on the whole time,
what are you going to do?
But Anthony Davis ain't... But he's saying he's the
best defensive player in the league? Yeah.
Anthony Davis says he's the best defensive player in the league,
so guess what, buddy?
It's time to show it.
But the problem... No, it's time to show it.
Every night, I know I wanted that every single night. If I played somebody that was, guess who gone? what buddy it's time to show it but the problem but that problem it's time to show it every night
i know i wanted that every single night if i played somebody that was guess who got and guess
what we're not doing doubling i got him whatever he have at the end of the night while i'm on the
floor yep i look at okay he had high well okay what do when I was on the floor? Right? Yeah, he's on his averages, so we're not,
so I know what I'm going to do each and every possession.
But, like, to your point, Anthony Davis is not taking that challenge.
We're not switching it.
I'm going to fight through screens, cross screens.
I wasn't doing it, so I was my best.
Anthony Davis is not doing it.
See, if you're trying to keep Anthony Davis on the whole time,
he would actually fuck the whole defense of playing up
because Yoko's just smart enough to say,
all right, I'm going to just do pick and roll
and then we're going to see how you play me.
And then now you're trying to stay attached
to me, right? Now the guard
is on his own because he ain't going to help.
He ain't going to try to switch out. Now I got to go
fight over, fight under. Now
Murray's sitting there eating you alive.
We got to give up something?
Yeah.
Side pick and roll.
See, I'm just, I think certain things, right?
If he's in a side pick and roll, he's going to do,
so this is where I'm going to play the side pick and roll
if Nikola's in this.
Even, I'm going to make him either pop or catch it every time.
Let me get back to him.
Y'all stay home, man.
Yeah.
Stunt him back. Show him get back. Stunt him back. Get the big, get back to him. Y'all stay home, man. Yeah. Stunt him back.
Show him, get back.
Stunt him back.
Let the big get back to him.
Because he's going to pop the three.
Or he's going to pop in the 17.
Stunt him, let me get back to him.
But not rotate to him.
Let me get back to him.
That's just, I'm down in the side, picking roles with Jamal Murray if I'm opposing to him.
Down in it.
I'm downing every time with him.
Right? I'm going to make him pass it. Or Jamal Murray going to try to attack the big. Right?
Cool. Let's do that. Let's get back. Let's trap him. Make him throw it back to Nicola or whoever,
DeAndre Jordan. I'm downing all sides. I'm forcing him a certain way up top. If he in the middle,
me picking role, I'm forcing him a certain way. They changing the angle, flipping and all sides. I'm forcing him a certain way up top. If he in the middle, mid picker, I'm forcing him a certain way. They changing the angle
a certain way, flipping it, all that. They will
deal with that when they do it.
But we're going to stunt, and I'm going to get back to Nicole, and we're
going to play it that way. I'm not going to give him...
He's not going to have
all these options
every time. I will cut off his assists.
You're not going to cut off his points. You're not going to cut
off his rebounding. I will cut off his
assists. And that's how you do it. He only really had seven assists game one. No, so that's more than
Five
Even trying to go that is nice. We two office
Below is average Kenya. We gotta find the bright side
To miss shot, but what I'm saying is I'm...
You're too happy on this side of the couch.
That's too many shots.
We gave you a standing ovation.
We gave you an ovation at the beginning of the show.
But these little...
The pick and roll, he pops, he drives you,
he'll help you, he throws a little lob.
Like, think about them lobs he's throwing.
There's no contest on these.
They're wide open.
They are.
The motherfucker can come down, wave, go back up.
They can do all that shit.
Yeah.
And you see him coming, too, which is crazy when you watch it.
What he does is, and he plays basketball, and he uses your human instinct, your natural instincts on the floor against you.
Yep.
That's all.
So, therefore, when you're coaching against him,
you got to tell, fight your instincts and don't help.
Yeah, yeah, fight human nature, yeah.
Fight like you just have to.
If you don't, don't move.
No, stunt.
You have to.
Right?
He's a very methodical player.
And he doesn't get sped up it doesn't matter what
what you're gonna do what defense you're throwing at him like he continues to play at his pace
and with a player that's that good because he is a good player like you to your point you you got
to make it as tough as you possibly can and try to make him a little uncomfortable
in doing things that he doesn't want to do.
But...
Yeah.
He...
When he has the ball in his hands,
he just makes so many things happen for his team.
Yeah.
He's gonna have to prove to me
that he can shoot jump shots over both shoulders.
All day.
Yeah, all day.
You see what Dwight Howard said? You see what Dwight Howard said?
You see what Dwight Howard said?
He said when he matched up with him,
it wasn't about the game.
It was about everything else.
I studied his tendencies.
I studied everything.
And when I checked in,
I went straight to him.
Bumped him.
This.
As soon as he's checking in,
I'm looking at him.
He said, I'm letting him know this is more of a mental game, not a what's--name yeah right so when he's coming down I'm sitting there chucking him he's gonna start looking at
the ref right and he said that's the game I'm playing with him other than
that he's just gonna bully you yep and that's what he's doing he said you
coming in the game soon as I come in again check in I'm walking right to him
bump bump him hit him step on on his shoe, all right?
I got two stories that way.
Step on his shoe.
Alan Trunis, he was with Toronto.
He was way bigger than me, right?
He'd tell KJ every time he said, man, tell your pops.
I said, what's up, man?
Because I was giving him hell, dog.
You way bigger than me.
No, but listen, I'm.
Uh-huh.
Yeah.
Eventually, yeah.
White side, when he first came,
he's a hell of a rebounder, right?
As soon as I walk on the floor,
he's walking for him,
I just put my hand in his chest.
He's moving.
I'm just walking with him,
just touching him.
He ain't even worried about offensive rebounding.
No, dude, I'm not going to let you
just push my little ass up on the rim.
You sell him to...
No, no.
Like, no, you got gotta play that game with him.
And that's what you gotta do.
And,
Nikola, I just, I see shit, I'm like,
when I'm watching him, right,
he make a move in my head, I'm, oh, that's a strip.
Yeah.
Oh, got him.
Strip, because he bringing the ball,
like, with me, you can't play with the ball with me. Mm-hmm. You know this shit. I'm top, up, him. Strip, because he bringing the ball, like, with me, you can't play with the ball with me.
You know this shit.
I'm up, up, down.
You got to move with that bitch you playing with me.
You turn to go in your shot, I'm stripping you down.
I'm going to test you up here.
Like, you didn't work.
If that bitch going through that basket.
You had to work for it. You earned it.
Because you didn't have to go in your bag.
Yeah.
To get your shot off.
And that's why I respect Colby so much.
He's like, no, you're not finna, no.
Here, boom, boom, boom.
And Tim Duncan as well, because I never sped him up, right?
But that's like each possession, man.
That's the playoffs.
Shit.
So we asked the chat, do the Lakers have a chance in this series?
Nearly 5,000 voters.
59% of them are haters.
They said no.
41% said yes.
But I thought you were merely a host.
Why are they haters?
I know, right?
I bounced back and forth.
From the host.
Okay.
I have multiple personalities.
If you merely a host, why are they haters?
I don't appreciate you holding me accountable.
Let me do me.
Let me do me.
That should not bother you. He's asking a question. I'm unbothered. accountable. Let me do me. Let me do me. That should not bother you.
He's asking a question.
I'm unbothered.
Payday is ten days away.
People don't realize when you're talking about playoffs,
like, it is a mind.
It's mind games in the series.
Like, I remember I didn't want to guard.
Because, you know, I don't really like playing defense like that.
I think.
Right, so I wanted to guard like Eric Snow.
Like Eric Snow.
Another day with Eric Snow being unnecessarily slandered.
Like with Derek.
So like when they have like Damon Jones in them, I'll start talking trash to the coach.
You put Damon Jones in, it's one full flat the whole time.
Because I don't want to play against him in the fourth quarter.
Because I want to just roam and have all my energy for offense.
One full flat.
As soon as he get in.
As soon as you put him in, coach, one-fourth flat.
And then as soon as coach put him in, I would go one-fourth flat.
Just one time.
And let coach think about what I just said and do it.
And then now he don't want to play Damon Jones in the fourth quarter
because he don't want Damon Jones to be one-fourth flat
because they don't have a defense for him.
So that's my game plan to them
and don't have to worry about Damon Jones in the fourth quarter. Now I can worry about
Eric Snow who's not really trying to, he's going
to probe a little bit, but he's not going to take
those shots from the outside, which
helped me defensively.
And Jamal Williams came in.
But he did take the shot.
But I wasn't guarding him.
Yeah, yeah.
I wasn't guarding him.
I wasn't his own.
I wasn't a in the zone. I was in the one-man zone.
Let's bring it back to L.A., Gil.
I've seen the cap, so let's talk about your favorite team.
Clippers were still without quiet litter for game one of their opening round series against the Mavs.
Claude missed his ninth straight game with knee inflammation.
But James Harden added another game one masterpiece to his resume.
The beard was balling, 28 points, including 20 in the first half and
eight dimes, went six for 11 from three.
Let's watch some of this.
Luka, you can have that one.
Okay, the beard.
There you go.
Bye-bye.
Dante.
This one's for you.
This is the Harden that we out. Clearing Westbrook out.
This is the Harden that we know and love.
How he made his name.
Houston boy.
How he made his name is the giving buckets.
H-Town.
Oh, oh.
The step back.
And then the last Clipper bucket, James Harden.
Giving the man's at work.
Westbrook, 13 off the bench.
Did his thing as well. God, no. You can't do that in the playoffs, man. I work. Westbrook, 13 off the bench. Did his thing as well.
You can't do that in the playoffs, man.
You can't try to take offensive fouls like that.
Controlled the game.
So in addition to Harden's
28-piece, Paul George.
I need those purple ones. Paul George scored
11 of his 22 points in the fourth quarter.
Zubach came through with 20 and 15.
Like I said, Terrence Mann and Westbrook each dropped 13,
going 9 for 16 from the field combined.
Luka had 33, 13 to 6 dimes.
Akairi had 31 and 4 assists.
But the rest of the Mavs squad combined for 33 points.
Damn, that's a lot for the rest of them?
That's a lot of points for the rest of the group.
It was capable. Tim Hardaway had. I mean, it was capable.
Tim Harden had six.
Yeah, that's why.
Damn.
33 for split between 10 other dudes.
I know.
33, that's a lot for 10 other players.
Off the bench?
Oh, no, the rest of the players.
Oh, shit, that's the starters.
That's the starters, too.
Oh, yeah.
Starters included.
Yeah.
God damn.
Yeah, I'm thinking off the bench.
I'm like, oh, this is great.
Three players? The rest of the Mavs, 33. Yeah. Yeah, damn so look yeah, I'm thinking off the business like
The rest of the mass 33 yeah, so Harden is embrace his role as a facilitator in the past few seasons
But let it be known he can still get buckets when needed
Like I can score the best of them No, I mean like this still can score the best of my rule for this team just
Generate really good shots on the shots. These are And then when my number to score is called, and you score the basketball,
obviously Kawhi is out, so my playmaking and my volume is going to go up a little bit more.
And it's a good manager.
So why does Harden still get a bad rap when he's shown how unselfish he is as a player?
His ability to take over games and moments like this? I think sometimes when
you manipulate the game
to your ability,
it doesn't look traditional.
It looks just too easy.
There's no effort.
People start...
People dislike it. When Kobe was averaging, they disliked it. We, people dislike it.
Like when Kobe was averaging, you know, they disliked it.
Like, we don't like it, like, right?
Well, you need to be stopped.
Same thing with Luka right now.
You try to figure out, like,
well, I don't like the way you're playing basketball
because you can't stop it.
And I think he just got a bad rap for, you know,
just how he played the game, right? I mean, you know, just how he played the game.
Right?
I mean, you know, if it was that easy, then it would be easy to guard.
But the fact that he can do it, you know it's coming, and he still gets his numbers.
I don't think it's too much about the numbers.
I think it's more about just when game six and game seven come around.
He doesn't show up?
Yeah.
For, like, the rate of media hate or something?
Yeah, I mean, yeah, yeah.
Like, yeah, he manipulated the game and the way he played, but I think it's more of the
bad rep of how, when the game six and game seven come, like, he doesn't show up.
I think that's where it comes from a lot.
Like, it's not, I mean, shit, Steph did the same thing for the game.
Shit, KD, all of them did. They were doing this when Steph three, so everybody's manipulated the game.
I think it's just more of your playoff appearances.
That's kind of sort of been his reputation. Game six, seven, there's like game one, 2, he shows up, he does this. 6 and 7,
he's a no show.
Yeah, so in his career he's averaged 23.6 assists in 23 elimination games. So you see
that, you know, this is including the Houston years, those numbers kind of drop a little
bit.
Yeah, because this series is going to go 6 or 7. Don't let that game one for you with them.
Like, basically.
I hear you giggling.
Hey, man.
Clips and foe, man.
Not even.
No.
Not even.
Not with J. Kidd.
Clipper deal.
First of all, y'all.
What?
No.
No, not even.
Tim Hardaway had six points.
That won't happen.
And Luka played great.
No, he didn't.
Luka did not play great.
Yeah, he played great.
No, he was terrible
on the defense end.
He wasn't.
Yeah, that's great.
What do you mean?
Great on offense, the same on defense.
What are you talking about?
Who was he going to guard?
He going to guard...
But you said Clippers in four?
No, not even.
At least six.
Clipper, Gill.
What do you mean deep?
He was terrible on defense.
Look who he guarded.
This is going to go six or seven.
At least six.
All right.
All right, you got Jake Kidd.
Want to put $5 on it?
What do you want to put on it?
Put some money on it.
We got $5.
We got to do $5.
$10.
Let's do $10.
$10.
Yeah.
That's a broken hand.
$10.
You told me you were going to pick it.
Hold on.
OK.
Kay, what do you think about Harden's game one performance
and saying, I can still score with the best of them?
We seen it?
Yeah, no, he, man.
James Harden's been a hell of a talent in this league, man.
Yeah.
Knows how to score the basketball.
It's nothing that, scores can score.
Mm-hm.
In this day and age of the NBA, people say it's playoff basketball, but he's...
He's still better than these guys. So...
Missing Kawhi, somebody got to score the ball.
So he's going to pick up the load until...
When and if Kawhi comes back, then he'll go back to his facilitating role
once again, but until that happens he's gonna
have to carry something to score and load with Paul George and that's what it is so he's capable
of doing it we know that he has a ball in his hand so he's gonna be James Harden like he's gonna be
the James Harden that we know um I don't... People have bad games.
Just so happened he has come
in the back half of the series.
Unnecessary.
It's true.
But is this unfortunate?
It's true.
You didn't have to have that.
I didn't do the playoff runs, man.
I had some shit games, like, so I know.
So, but it's...
So is this the heart the Clippers need to make a playoff run,
even if Kawhi does return?
He has to be aggressive, but still,
he has better players around him than he's had collectively.
So he's still got to be facilitated because he hasn't balled in his hand most of the time.
But he's still got to be aggressive, man.
In the series, they need him to be him and explore these matchups.
That's what it's about in playoff basketball.
If I'm better than your guy who guarded me,
then I need to show that.
So most nights, they're going't have an advantage at the positions
So wherever the advantage is if and when Kawhi comes back, then that's what it is. And then the thing is when Kawhi come back
We'll see how they start playing then. I mean, I still think you should be aggressive
Like I don't like I just that's why it's just're playing this way, and then when Kawhi comes back, then you're going to play it.
It's like, fuck that.
Because they got to, so what we were saying earlier, they got to play faster, though.
You know what I'm saying? There got to be more possessions in the game.
In order for all of them to be who they are, they got to speed the game up.
Right.
Can't keep walking the ball up.
Then it's forced for him to be a facilitator.
Right.
Because Kawhi's first option, PG's second option. You third, like, so, well, you're not even third.
Running the offense and getting plays is third.
You might be the fourth option within the offense now.
Yeah.
Right?
So now, in order for that not to be the case
and him not having just to be a total facilitator,
there's got to be more possessions in the game.
You know, that's got to be more possessions in the game. That's why the narrative,
when you say people wash out,
it's like this double-edged
sword that we sit with.
When we
get added to a team that has
value, we're supposed to
take a back seat
for the betterment of the team.
When we take a back seat for the betterment of the team, we're supposed to take a back seat right for the betterment of the team when we take a back seat for the betterment of the team we're washed right right right we're called you're called
washed now you have someone like james harden to be honest and this is just watching how he's
playing we don't know how far his game is from his Houston day. Because he's done sacrifice for the betterment of the team.
But when you watch him play, you're going to say, oh, that's Houston's James.
He's still doing the same thing.
He's going bop, bop, bop, hit the shot, bop, bop, bop, get to the basket.
It's the same movement, same speed.
It doesn't look like he's slowed down.
So what happens when you tell a player to take a lesser role and this is why i usually tell
players i would never tell a player to take a lesser just give me give me your best because
what ends up happening is you have a james harden who will say all right well you want me to average
20 and 10 bet that's it and then go out there and give you exactly what you want 20 and 10 when he actually might need
to give you 26 and 10 but he won't give you the extra six because he's basically saying fuck you
this is what you want let's see how this reacts all right i lost but he's very capable in doing
it though yes but that's what i'm saying but you told him 20 and 10 and he's giving you exactly
that and he's just watching the ales, you know,
just stack up until you tell him,
all right, look, we need a little bit more.
Oh, so you do need me, right?
Right, that feeling of 20 and 10
knowing that I just gave you 34 and 12
and you're saying you don't need that one?
You need a lesser?
All right, I'm going to give you less, bitch.
All right, and that becomes that struggle
with athletes, especially at that high level caliber because ego is part of it. That's how we got there
So when you tell me to you need a lesser version of me
It's like oh
Team can play better without me. All right. I'm just I'm gonna just make a whole bunch of passes and we're gonna see
Who can average the 36 that I've been giving y'all? Well, we lost
Yes, it wasn't my fault
I gave you what you wanted and I'd be I'd be hating that so sometimes when I see James is like yeah
They're trying to put a cap. I don't care don't cap. Just whatever the series need you give it to us in the words
Earl Boykins. Mm-hmm. There's a minute man a man told me want me to average five assists shit if I have his five assists shit I
wouldn't be in the NBA yeah you don't need me I was like five five assists I
wouldn't be an NBA yep Wow I mean it's mr. score yeah I'm gonna
retain the tempo of the game and motherfucking score no be you what Gil
the same as a player when the coach tells you to play like that,
to still say, nah, I'm doing what I need to do?
No, you say nah, sit down.
Or you say yes.
But it's like you're trying to say yes because it's still about team.
You, like, yeah, coach, I got you, I got you.
Yeah, people think like we selfish, right?
That's it.
Go right in the locker room
Whoever's your locker a mega this moment. Just told me you want me to take less shots
You told me yes, I know of course coach right go out there you like but because we are we are team So we all know we're capable of doing right we all we didn't earned our shots
That's what coaches don't understand.
In practice, in fucking drills, shooting.
We earned.
Like, motherfucker taking 30 shots, he earned that.
If his team, what Mello was doing, earned it.
Right?
So when a coach comes in there and undermines the work ethic, that becomes a problem.
Nigga, you ain't even been in our practice and you're telling me what I'm going to average?
Alright.
I told you, 22 and 10, that sounds like we're
about to, yeah, let me go ahead and
start packing my shit now. That sounds like
first round.
First round.
You're not even,
you ain't been here. You're looking at the
stat sheet talking about, oh, if you averaged it, nah.
Practice determines what's going to happen, and you make the plays for what's going on.
And that'd be the problem with coaching staff and then the players.
But there are also your teammates, though, that can see that.
And they're like, dude, I don't really care what he told you.
This is what we need from you that that happens also at least like on the women's side where coach is like listen
this is what i need you to do and as a teammate that sees the work you put in that's playing with
you we get in the game and i see what you're doing and especially if you have somebody guarding you
that can't guard you right i'm like listen i don't care that coach told you don't shoot.
Or I don't care that coach told you he needs you to only take ten shots.
We need you to go score the basketball.
Because she can't guard you.
So that's a whole, to your point, when you're like, all right, coach, I hear you.
Right?
And then you go back out on the floor, it's a completely different conversation.
But no doubt about it,
James Harden could still score the basketball.
Yeah, that's just like what happened in Denver, man.
Like, we...
Not one of us cared that Melo took the most shots.
Like...puttin' the work in.
Like, we see it every day.
In practice, he buzzes whoever ass
you put in front of him. Yeah.
Every single day.
Wasn't a day off on that bitch. So, when he get in the game, guess what? In practice, he busts whoever ass you put in front of him. Yeah. Every single day.
Wasn't a day off in that bitch.
So when you get in the game, guess what?
Well, I expect him to whoever ass,
whoever they put in front of him,
I expect them to put him on the grill.
Yeah.
And that's just what it is.
So, and that's, yeah, okay, Melo ain't playing. Okay, I got to score 25 tonight.
All right, cool.
Right?
As I said, it's a pecking order.
People don't understand.
Yeah, it's a pecking order. I don't understand. Yeah, it's a pecking order.
I could have every night, but it just wasn't...
So we need a bucket. Hey,
man, throw the ball here. We finna drop Mello,
man. We ain't doing nothing else. He called
something, man, drop Mello.
We not... No, we need a bucket.
We ain't no... Throw the ball
to 15, man.
So, let's talk a little bit about Ky Kyrie and we're going to keep it moving. Ten years since we got you on this couch. Before the Clippers Mavs series started,
Kyrie was asked about not making the final 12-man Team USA roster for the Olympics
and had this to say. I just didn't fit into this team and I think the deliberation process was a tough one. But again, I have nothing but
respect for those guys over at USAB. You know, at this point in my career, I think my focus should
be on winning the championship and, you know, in the summertime, just going to support those guys
when I get a chance. But yeah, I grew up in a time too, I wanted to say this, I grew up in a time, too. I wanted to say this. I grew up in a time, too, where we actually had to try out for USAB.
And we did meet up as a group and as peers.
And there was a mutual respect that we earned from one another and trying out and then seeing what five meshed well.
So I think, obviously, the timing is a little bit different.
But, yeah, I kind of miss those days of just being able to get everybody together, break bread, and then compete against one another. And then the deliberation process happens at the end of like the four days or five
day process, even though people know who's going to be on the team, you know what I'm saying? So
I just, I miss that fun part of it, of just getting together, but I wish my brothers well.
Thank you for clearing that up. I'm going to address that part of it first. He cleared that
up. I'm glad he did. At the end? Yeah, because you ain't, no, you're not going, they know who on the fucking team
already.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Not going to compete for a spot.
They invite them other guys to get y'all some running.
No, they know the 12 that they taking.
So no matter how good those other guys play.
No.
Hey.
I agree.
See you in four years.
Bring in the 12.
What?
They already know who's on the team.
They already know.
Trust me. They're bringing in extra bodies for practice and practice and oh, we're gonna look at her for the future
Maybe or it might be 11 they know for 11 it might be a 12 that they like
Well, let's question. Let's see who show up the best shape
But no, they know already but we're so we got that 12-man roster
We know there's two question marks at least on that roster right now. There's never no question mark
No, I'm saying that'll actually play in Kawhi and Embiid.
Okay.
For health, why?
For health.
Yeah, no, they're on Kawhi but three, I mean, you know.
No.
But they're going to have, like, even when I remember when I tried out.
No.
I know what you're thinking, but no.
No, I'm just, I'm just, uh.
When, uh, when I was there.
When I was there, like, Kirk hiring him.
You got a chance.
Hell, I'm making a chance.
The motherfucker wasn't, it wasn't doing, like, how y'all make the cut.
You know what I mean?
It was a bunch of them.
I'm like, this is a tryout.
Politics.
Y'all are getting barbecued.
But they walking around like they already made a team.
And sure enough, they were already made a team and sure enough
They were already on a team Wow
So like this one this what they're doing here that that saves that saves all the fucking headache from everybody else who actually?
Think it's fair and we're going out there busting people ass and y'all already actually have a shot at making yeah
Yeah, yeah, we think we got a shot like oh
You know you sit there you sit there getting cooked like you get the fuck on out here and then when I'm cutting
Yeah
I just gave this motherfucker 39 three games
Also, I'll do this cream. Just yeah
This point was with Kawhi not being a question mark
and Joel, would they put Kyrie?
I'm just too open about it.
But, Kenyon, a few months ago when the initial pool of players was announced,
you said Kyrie wouldn't be on the team because of potential backlash.
I didn't say he wouldn't be on the team.
I said there would be a conversation that would be had
on making that decision whether he would or would not.
Grant Hill and him, I'm pretty sure, had the conversation.
And to Kyrie's point, he didn't fit in on his team
because of certain things, right?
Kyrie's not on the team because of his talent.
I said it had nothing to do with basketball.
I said on this very couch where I get ridiculed all the time
that Kyrie is a better basketball player than Luka.
And that's my personal fucking opinion, which I'm entitled to.
But it has nothing to do with his skill set
and what he can do in between that 94-50.
It has nothing to do with it.
They had a conversation within the USAB committee. A conversation was had. Is Kyrie one of the best 12 basketball players in the... Yeah. Without question. Without controversy? Absolutely. Mm-hmm. Whenever that controversy was and what it entailed with it, it's bigger than we probably
could think of, is what I was saying at the time.
Yeah, exactly.
Right?
And for him to come out and say what I didn't fit into-
I don't fit with this team.
I don't fit with this team.
Mm-hmm.
That's all I was saying yeah right but
you think he truly believes that or is he just trying to say the right thing no he thinks that
and this was the conversation that was had i think he believes how much attention is kairi
irving going to draw from usa basketball during the olympics it's a conversation. Yeah. For sure.
Because he is himself.
He is Kyrie Irving. Yes.
Right?
And we know this.
Yes.
Right?
Him walking around
USA Village burning sage,
people going to be like,
what the fuck is he doing?
I'm just saying.
Get rid of the evil spirit.
Right?
This is a thing, right?
Those are the reasons
why he's not on the team.
Yeah.
And that was the point I was making. Right? Mm is a thing, right? Those are the reasons why he's not on the team. Yeah. And that was the point I was making, right?
Mm-hmm.
Damn, what shoe he wearing.
Damn, it don't matter when it comes down to this.
Yep.
It's not about the team he played for.
It ain't about the NBA.
It ain't about...
It's about the brand of the Olympic USA.
It's all this is about. And they don't want to do anything to tarnish that and that's any other country
If anybody has had any controversy with steroids
Domestic for anything, but whatever it controversy is that rep from whatever country they are from
They would not be representing their country in the Olympics because that country
don't want any negative publicity.
This is supposed to be a happy
time about sporting us celebrating our
country. We don't want
nothing negative behind it.
That's just what it is.
And somebody brought up,
it had nothing to do,
Kobe played on the OKCOO,
it had nothing to do with political,
nothing,
nothing about people's race,
religion,
like none of that.
It didn't.
Much of the people wanted to hate him
and not him not to be on the lip.
It had nothing to do with those things.
And this day and age,
and as sensitive as people are,
and touchy at every subject.
I don't have a mic.
You dropped it.
I did.
Because he just, yeah.
So you agree, Cheryl?
A hundred percent.
Yes, I do.
And that's all I'm going to say.
Yeah, no, it's just...
And my counterpart over here had a disagreement with me about it. Yeah. And that's all I'm gonna say. Yeah, no, it's just...
And my counterpart over here had a disagreement with me about it.
We got into...
As to why he's not on the team?
Yeah, he said he would be because it had nothing to do with...
You said he would be on the team?
Yeah. Gil argued me up and down this bitch.
I think he 100% should be.
Yeah, what he should be. That's two totally separate conversations
So he's not on the team because of a tweet. No, we don't know that's
I mean, I don't even think it's just a tweet
I think it's Kyrie being Kyrie right like he's gonna be who he is
People want to ignore the fact that he missed games because of this shit. Like, this is the thing. It was a thing.
It ain't like it was swept up under
the rug overnight.
Right?
This was a real live situation
where this man missed games
because of it. And it wasn't
his words.
Right?
So it was this real thing.
The shit had legs.
And all I'm saying, it was a conversation that was had and the conversation and he stood behind like what he believed like she played in olympics i did
yeah like it so she know the conversation the thing that's going on right she's
right hand knowledge of everything that's going on within that relationship.
So it's just what it is.
I think it's unfortunate.
Yeah, but it is.
Definitely unfortunate.
Because if you're talking about taking the 12 best that we have to take and send to the Olympics,
you can't say Kyrie should not be on that team.
Yeah.
So there's clearly another reason.
Yeah.
I think he was looking forward to the tryouts
and what he was saying.
I think he wanted to bust somebody's ass.
Yeah, but like you guys are saying...
And like just...
I know he wasn't going to make it,
but go there and bust it and hold that for next year.
I think that's what he was... I just did this and you mean to tell me I'm not on the team? I knew he wasn't going to make it, but go there and hold that for next year. I think that's what he was.
I just did this, and you mean to tell me I'm not on the team?
I think he wanted to.
Like you guys said, those trials are fugazi.
It is.
They know what they're taking, man.
They showing up to get, like, just for the runs because they get you playing against other high-level talent.
So if Kawhi and Joel are not healthy and don't play, who are the replacements?
Jimmy Butler, Jason...
Well, isn't Jimmy hurt also?
Jaylen Brown.
Jaylen Brown is on there.
Isn't Jimmy hurt right now too?
Yeah, he's MC Andre, but I think he was...
Jaylen Brown brown Paul George
Oh for for big man, then it'd be what Paulo Banchero
I will bank arrow Jane Jackson. So
He not even Anywhere on that list. She was it. No, he's nuts guard. Yeah, I'm saying there's no kid. There's a guard if it was
There's no line of succession
not right now that gives the car replay i don't think so is that personal things
got nothing to do basketball does that stigma last forever you feel like or the last thing
he'll be available yeah so i think so it's fair to say that i don't think he'll be available to
play in four years in olympus or he'll be able to tell the end of it. I don't think it'll be even a conversation in four years for Kyrie to be on the Olympics.
How old is Kyrie?
You got all the new guards.
I guess.
32 years old.
Mellow ball.
You got a job.
You got a new guard.
In four years, he'll be 36.
He won't be on the team in four years.
Yeah, so no.
This is like, if he's not on this team...
Yeah, this new crop of point guard...
It's probably done.
Yeah.
Like his...
Shit, that's the last of a lot of them players we finna see.
It should be.
Shit.
Well, it should be.
It should be.
I mean, it should be.
And if you want to add a feature...
But why are they pointing him out like he was top running for that last spot.
No, just making a period, though.
It wasn't even about the last spot, I don't think.
It's just about making the team, period.
But there's at least, what, four guys that can be complaining
that they didn't even get a chance.
True.
So that's what I'm saying.
Why is the focus on him?
Just ask the question.
I think you should ask about it.
Just ask the question.
I mean, people are sitting there looking at, like, why is he on the team? Yeah, ask the question. I think he just asked about it. Just ask the question. Hallen Burton, like, I mean, people are sitting there looking at like,
why is he on the team?
Yeah, they ask the question,
Durf.
I think the question
is because they
should be on there.
Like Paul George,
you know what I mean?
Like, there's a bunch
of people that's...
They probably asked him
the question as well,
but they didn't say
anything controversial, so...
But why we keep using that
as the narrative
when we don't know that?
Because you know he's the same religion.
So I don't...
Same religion as who?
Who?
You lost me with that.
The people he's...
We're using that as the excuse why he's not on the team.
But...
I mean, we're using that as the excuse.
We don't know until... No, we don don't know until they say that is the reason.
They're never going to say that.
I know, so, you know, right now it's just our opinion.
But can't we find out why?
Yeah.
Like, why we cannot find out why?
You can't just ask.
Because it's a conversation between multiple people that was had.
You can ask.
It's going to be the basketball stuff.
Grant Hill released that statement exactly what it was. Look up to Grant Hill. I'm pretty sure there's somebody else what Grant Hill released that statement,
exactly what it was.
Look up to Grant Hill.
I'm pretty sure there's somebody else by Grant Hill's statement.
He ain't hit me back yet.
Oh, yeah.
He said, all right.
I'm saying.
What's the real reason?
I mean, what is the reason?
Like, you know, did you not even consider?
Did you have better guards?
Like, what's the reason?
You know, they have a reason.
You know, instead of just guessing, you know, I don't. I You know, they have a reason. Instead of just guessing,
I don't... I think we need to know
every reason.
Even if we ask the reason,
why is these two people on it
and not these other people?
Well, they fit better with us.
We don't know.
That's the politically correct answer
is the fit, right?
Well, these two are on the team because they're the right fit for what we need, what we're looking for.
But then when you ask the question about, well, why isn't this player on it?
Go get him on the balcony with a cigar and on glass wine number four and a half, and I guarantee you get a different answer.
Like even with like the 2004 with...
Go get him on the balcony.
What did you say? Give him a little truth now?
I can't even get a glass.
Hey, get him where they got a cigar.
We sitting on the balcony.
We sitting with the fireplace lit in Phoenix.
And we didn't have two bottles of red.
Get the right answer.
I guarantee you.
Huh?
I'm talking about special selection.
For sure.
So we asked the chat, should Kyrie have made Team USA?
Nearly 3,000 voters, 88% said yes, 12% said no.
Let's get back in the playoff action.
Got to talk about your other favorite team, Gil.
I remember when we made it, when I was like, what was his name?
The big dude from Chicago.
Tyson James?
Howard Ford, no.
Oh.
2006, right? Brad Miller? No. Oh. 2006, right?
Brad Miller.
Brad.
Oh.
Forgot about him.
Who's the...
Bruce Boyne.
Oh, wow.
Who's the coach?
Oh, wow.
Who's the coach?
It was Mike.
It was Mike.
Steve Kerr's the coach.
Yeah, Team USA coach.
And so, you know, he's sitting there and just,
Bruce Warren's going to meet?
He's going to meet his team?
Shane?
Shane Betty?
Okay.
So let's get back to the playoffs.
Gil, we'll talk about your favorite team, Milwaukee Bucks,
and we appreciate you for taping out the logo that was on the jersey
due to your...
I'm happy to see a Milwaukee Bucks.
Endorsement obligation.
Bucks and six.
I can't.
Bucks and six, Gil.
So, with Giannis Sainz in line with a calf injury
for the near future in the Bucks' struggles
in the Doc Rivers era,
things were looking shaky heading into the postseason.
Pacers were 4-1 against the Bucks this season,
but this is the playoffs and
it was Dame time. So Dame on fire in the first half. 35 points in the first two quarters.
Six for 10 from three. Doing his thing. For all the talk and speculation during the season, the highs and lows.
And we talked about this on the couch.
Damian will be ready in playoff mode come playoff time.
Made a mockery of the Pacers defense.
Career high for a half for Damian Lillard.
With plays like that, help the Bucs jump out to a 27 point lead at the break so Pacers only have 42 points I'm open they still have 42 points in the first half which is
their lowest total of the season Dame didn't score in the second half but it
didn't matter as the Bucks was to the Pacers comeback attempt to get the win
Tyrese Halliburton struggled in his first playoff game, finished with nine points, eight
dimes, seven rebounds. Siakam
carried the Pacers
36-13. Bucks improved
to 30-7 this season when
Dame scores 25-plus points.
So after the game, Dame talked about how good
it felt to be back in the playoffs.
The last two years not being in the
playoffs, it sucked.
I was
early vacations.
Last year I went to Coachella.
I ain't never been able to go to Coachella.
It's playing in the playoffs every year.
So just having that long summer, it was like, man, I was over that.
But being able to be in a playoff series on a championship team
and a championship organization, knowing that we got an opportunity for it,
I think that was the thing that I was looking forward to most.
So I've never been to the playoffs, but I have been to Coachella 13 times.
I would say it's close.
With the right team.
I was happy.
Before it got commercialized
Hey, I did not I'm too I'm washed. I watched the watch on YouTube like everybody else who was broke
13 times they have it on YouTube is live on YouTube. They showed yeah, they showed yeah now yeah, oh
Didn't they say this is why y'all brought me here. He let he let it be known
This is why y'all brought me to bill how excited were you to see your favorite team and your favorite head coach win game one?
That's Coach Epple, baby.
Hey, when it's playoff play.
Playoff doc is here.
I had my dames on.
I was watching the game with my dames on.
Yeah, these are collab.
This is dame side.
This is dame side.
No, this is dame side.
Are they available for purchase?
Dame dollar. Dame dollar side. Bye- Dame's side. No, this is Dame's side. Are they available for purchase? Dame dollar. Dame dollar side.
Mm-hmm.
What's the other side?
This is...
So, we did a collaboration together.
Wait, is that Dame on the dollar bills?
Yes.
Okay.
Dame dollar.
Okay, but can you get a face, too, if it's...
Dame dollar. No, my...
One side Dame, one side Gil?
That's what it is.
Oh, good.
One side Dame, one side Gil.
Is your face on that side, actually?
Yes.
Gil, that don't look like you. That's Dame then no cuz this looks like damn on this side as well
So this is Dame. This is me
Anyway, we have to balling more
Balling money size fly said it was bad
This could have been you if you had traded. I love it. I love it.
This could have been you if you traded on the sideline cheering.
Y'all, signing.
Bucks and three.
All right, that regular season don't mean shit, man.
It's playoff time.
Three more?
Three more bucks wins?
Three more?
No, no, once you win three, the fourth one's easy.
The fourth one's easy. They've already won once, so if they win, they win three more. No, no once you win three two the fourth was easy The floor was easy
Boxing three that's how confident we is because if it's a 3-1 legal as history has showed us not for the now disease not doc
Doc in the playoffs that was clean back. That was clean in the playoffs
I think they've got to die with the clippers. I was that was the clippers fit. That was Glenn back then. That was Glenn in the playoffs. With the Clippers, that was
the Clippers fan. That was more Clipper
than Doc. This ain't the biggest clip.
How about that?
The old Clippers, not these new Clippers.
That was Donald Sterling Clippers
where Doc was at.
Under new
management today,
Doc best coaching
basketball right now. Bucks fans, clip it.
Gil, can you repeat it
one more time? We're going to get the ISO
camera on you. 2-0.
What did you just say about Doc Rivers, Gil?
Best coach in basketball right now.
Glenn, Doc Rivers.
Set of the cameras.
He said right now, too.
Come on, Doc. You know what we're doing, baby.
2-0. 2-0, then we go down to Indy smack them
Yes, as I suspected
Cup full of Hennessy
As I suspected iced coffee baby now been in Austin serious area we go Rossy go around the couch
Big question mark where Yannis being available with a calf injury.
Could potentially miss this entire series.
So for the Dame
to step up like this
in a crucial moment
against a squad
that had their number
all season.
Yeah, Halliburton
in the NCAA tournament
hitting Dame
with the Dame time.
35 piece.
Again, didn't score
in the second half,
but 35 is 35.
I mean, you definitely
want to get the first win.
Wait, why are we asking him?
He's not the...
We are going around the couch to get
Man I shut the fuck up when it came to the leg when you're talking about
Your teetering on the break
Bucks player all that all that extra gear you got hanging around the house
You can't use right now. Don't bring that shit my way man. I got don't bring that shit my way Google make us
eBay you know I had to buy some shit off eBay man. I got you take a minute. I got you
I got back. We we is the best coach
Yes to make it for you
Like it's amazing. I know you got some clipper shit you need to get rid of.
Actually, I do.
All right, go on.
Let me use that, baby.
Hey.
I mean, look.
You know what?
Now that you say it, I got somewhere to bring it.
Hey, look.
My housekeepers keep hanging it up, and I'm like, I'm starting to get impatient.
You know what I'm saying?
To get a little bumpy and shit, I started getting dizzy with the hat on.
Like, man, this red and blue kind of hurt my eyes a little bit.
I'm used to, hey, look,
I'm used to yellow around here.
That's like Rashad, man.
Oh, yeah, that's just like Rashad, man.
We got to mix it up a little bit.
This is normal game day,
and I just wear all suited.
But because it was over the weekend
and both teams played,
I got to represent.
I know.
But no, man,
it's good to see the Bucs win. It's Clippers. First game without their best represent. I know. But no man, it's good to see the Bucs win.
First game without their best players.
Especially for Dame not being in the playoffs the last two seasons.
Definitely. Definitely good for his confidence and you know,
moving forward. So, I'm going to game two. So you definitely
got to get that one. As in your Lakers jersey I hope? Nah, my Bucs stuff.
Brandon, I don't know if
you read the fire pretty your contract but you get fine for conduct
detrimental if you want to be straight oh mr. B will be in the building he had
a new team yeah I had to add a team because one of my team was made.
One of his team got knocked out, so he's up.
Who?
Who was your team, Kenyon?
Oh, can I add a team?
No, you got two teams.
No, Hawks.
Hawks is gone.
Hawks is gone.
Oh, yeah, they didn't lose to them.
Oh, Hawks.
Who was here?
Who was your new team, Kenyon?
Oh, the Nuggets.
See, this is how you know life ain't fair.
You don't get new teams.
Sacramento.
Here's Sacramento.
Sacramento didn't make it.
Who had to stick with our two teams? I don't think anybody had to. I don't think anybody had to. I don't have two teams. The Kings are up. fear Sacramento
So everybody's got two team they got a channel no no one has Minnesota yet Minnesota didn't get picked either I could take I'll take Minnesota yeah, Minnesota didn't get picked so you got them soda
I'll take the Lakers in Minnesota old franchise in the new fridge. I like it. Yeah, you got Lakers in Minnesota
Oh, no, you got to go East
Patience in the king. Yes, she has New Orleans. I mean your Pacers
Struggling right now. So I said the flows of life about the reason the what happened is because we did 20 teams Mm-hmm. We did 20 teams. So, you know the playing then so that there's a soul
There's only 16 teams on the eat
I had some bum ass playing team to play we had to play it back. Yeah, like they had a damn chance
Yeah, so he yes the Hawks and the Kings like they really had a chance to me
So he everyone has a chance to win an atom silver. Yeah the West Coast team
No, no, he is the West Coast team and then he has to get an East Coast team, right?
That she was somebody else get a nice. I don't know who he's out of who got the Knicks
No, you have to get only 16 teams was picked but two of the people two of the people had playing teams
So because those playing teams and make it let's just like Nick Young seems because we may not see him
No, so you have to get so I don't think someone has a Knicks, right?
I'll take the Knicks and no one has a Knicks. Yeah, I'll take the Knicks. You want Knicks? Oh, Nick Young Boston
So now I got the Lakers. I got to do it. Okay. Okay
Yeah, I got to do the East Coast
Well, you you probably should get rid of the Lakers and no no because we put 20 teams in there because we didn't know
Which team was in the playoff in the play-in bad boy death row. That's why we have put 20
Team no Dan deserved to be in the fucking playoffs. No way they had a losing record
Can y'all settle this off?
They had a losing record. I'm just playing they don't deserve to be in the play in or play off
Atlanta oh
Well, fine city. Well Chicago losing record a plan. They shouldn't have been in that shit.
Fine people in those cities.
You lost, bro.
I ain't even worried about nothing of that.
You ain't worried about it.
I ain't even got to worry about nothing of that.
He cut up.
He cut up.
This might be the finals right here.
No.
Gil, if we did get a Bucks-Clippers finals,
who are you showing your allegiance to?
I'm going to be like the Curry's
Gotta have a Jersey man gotta go to my cancer. I know he got some shit like that mixed up in the house
Huh you gonna go with the best playoff coach?
Huh?
You ain't going to go with the best playoff coach?
Ooh, that's going to be a good battle because Tyrone.
Yeah, but you just said Douglas.
Douglas.
That's all I'm just saying.
You know what?
Depends on who's home and who's away.
Oh, okay.
You know, depends.
But you don't need to worry about none of that.
You ain't got to worry about that because it ain't your team cuz it ain't your team's It's a good problem to have because either way I'm gonna be a champion
So moving on your earlier this season you said Giannis is the number one option for the first 43 minutes of the game
This is a long time ago. So just refresh your memory
So yeah, that's the first option for the first 43 minutes, but it's Dame time in the last five
minutes. So now it's Dame time. The whole game is Giannis' sideline. So after game one without
Giannis, how do you feel about Dame as the only one option for the Bucs currently?
I'm going to be honest with you. What scares, what just scares your team in the playoffs
and where Dame has to really adjust?
I mean, yeah, you got the win, right?
But there's a glaring problem that you did go 0-4 whatever in the second half.
Right?
The shots you hit in the first half was hard shots, amazing shots.
They're your shots of course but what
Giannis brings it you still have to really think about he brings getting to
that free throw line right he brings like you know getting easy buckets so if
you're relying on just you know step back threes from 28 feet it kind of it
kind of hurts you yeah right and you know you don't want
to have like if he had a first half like that yeah they lose that game yeah right so it needs to be
something where you you know you when you're missing threes get to the basket get some easy
stuff to the basket so that definitely should be the game playing game too though i'm definitely
not going to let him come out and do that in game two.
So, they're definitely going to have to.
I don't want him chicken shot.
I mean, like, just taking wild shots like that.
I mean, when you're hitting, you're hitting.
But when you're off.
How many shots did he take in the second half?
Yeah.
Pull it up, I think.
Oh, did he score at all?
No.
He didn't score at all.
He had 35 in the first half.
Let me put a little bit.
And none in the second.
That's hard to do.
That's crazy.
That is kind of scary, though, going into game two.
Yeah.
I mean, that's what I said in playoffs.
You can't.
Yeah.
That's hard to do.
Yeah.
He said that's hard to do.
Like not, he didn't go to the free throw line.
You know?
See, that's in the second half.
You miss it.
You get to the free throw line.
But that's what I said, because he's a jump shooter.
And those are the shots. Like, even the shots you're taking, like, for the most part, half. You miss it, you get to the free throw line. But that's what I said, because he's a jump shooter. And those are the shots.
Like, even the shots you're taking, like, for the most part, you can live with them.
Because, I mean, if you go cold, you go cold.
So, assuming Giannis doesn't play, and they get through this round, and the Clippers get through. But is it like James Harden, the way he's playing without Kawhi,
Dame, the way he's playing without Giannis,
is it a similar situation?
Meaning when Kawhi comes back, when Giannis comes back,
the two of them, their role changes?
Which I don't think it should, but...
It don't change, but they don't change it.
I think they just don't change it. The two of better adjustment than... I think they just don't change it.
The two of them.
Yeah, I think it's just a natural thing,
and I don't know why.
It hurts the team.
I don't know why.
They always do that.
But James doesn't...
He can sacrifice because he's still got...
And that offense is guard-related,
so if he decided he wanted to take 20 shots,
it doesn't affect everybody else.
Dame and Yannis
82 game season they they do not together know how to play well with each other which is weird
I've never seen anything like I mean, you know We see the dudes like beef and they just refuse to play with each other, right?
But for the most part you'd learn how to play with each other at some point in the season.
Just two conflicting styles, man.
Yeah, unless he's not a willing passer either.
You've got to be a willing passer.
Reminds me of AI
and Chris Webber, right?
You remember that?
See, Webb was more of a facilitator.
Now they both wanted that
right elbow.
Chuck wanted to drive to it.
Kind of reminded me of that clash.
Even though they liked each other, they didn't have problems.
It's just...
Yeah, it's just conflict in styles, man.
Unless Giannis developed a post game.
0 for 5, 0 for 1 from 3.
Only 5 shots even to the field, 0 for 1 from 3.
Only five shots even in the second half.
Yeah, if you develop a post game, it can work out.
But until then.
And this is something.
I mean, they're going to have to figure this out on the fly
when Giannis does come back.
What's so funny?
Here's a stat.
Here's a stat.
But that I don't, you know.
You know how they give out those weird awards?
Mm-hmm.
And he leads the league in charges committed.
This is, can you literally just show me on his phone? Oh, you do?
Yeah.
Because that's how you know they're spying on us.
They got the same stat.
Wait, what happened? Who does?
Dane does?
Y'all had the same thing up.
Can you lean over and show me?
Yeah, so this is bad NBA stat.
Wow.
Is the category that that is under.
So, um...
Wow.
Luka had 282 turnovers.
Draymond had four ejections.
Jalen Brunson missed 858 field goals.
Giannis.
When you showed me that, I had to do the math.
23 charges committed, 36 travels.
That's that bad footing.
Jaron Jackson and Zion each got their shot blocked 121 times.
Zion?
Which you wouldn't expect, right?
Wow.
Yeah, that's...
Three second violations.
Eight, Rudy Gobert.
Eight.
Technical fouls.
That boy in Houston, that worrissen child in Houston, Anthony Edwards.
Oh, oh.
Dylan Brooks.
He got, they had 15 a piece.
Damn.
Flagrant Fowles was the rookie.
Brandon Miller.
Brandon Miller from Oregon.
Damn, Brandon Miller?
But it's only four, I heard it.
Oh, four, oh.
It feel like a lot better than...
And goaltending violations is, what's the big boy from Charlotte?
I don't watch it.
Yeah, man, now that's a, that's a, that's a okay one, because it seems he active.
But I mean, you know, for Giannis, 36, I mean, you know, that's that whole Hakeem thing.
I know, that's that whole Hakeem thing.
Running over people. Yeah, they're moving a little bit. Mean you know that's that whole thing. I know that whole hockey
Running over people yeah, they're moving a little bit if you ain't move if you ain't traveling you're charging
You know my movie with his travel I'ma run you over
So obviously honest those right now now all the at the beginning of the season, everybody was talking about the dream,
and he got his nice footwork.
I still haven't seen nobody... I still haven't seen nobody go see a chemologist...
Travel.
...and come back and do one move.
I still haven't seen nobody go down there
and come back and do one move.
But like this summer, right?
This is a summer for him.
This summer, if he's going to the summer, it's really all just footwork.
Either you're going to do footwork post-up moves all summer.
You don't need nothing else.
Right?
Footwork post-up or a post-up and a turn of face.
Just shoot the ball every day, man.
Yeah, just every day.
I don't think people understand what fucking every day
means. Turn around, jump shots.
I don't think
they have the concept of what
every day means. Like when you
see an NBA player and
he couldn't shoot year one and
there's year five and he still can't shoot.
There's a reason. There's
a reason. He's going to practice.
He just ain't practicing. Working on the stuff he already knows. He's working on the shit's going to practice. He just ain't practicing.
Working on the stuff he already...
He's working on the shit he already know how to do.
Overtime.
Yeah.
I'm just...
Y'all just need to listen, man.
Get uncomfortable this summer.
The shit I did going into my senior year, man,
at Cincinnati,
and this translates to him right now.
You do everything else on the basketball floor.
What was told to me,
we need to see more from you offensively.
Okay.
I didn't touch the rim
at all.
I didn't dunk the ball at all over the summer.
Not one dunk
going into my senior
when I was
working on my game.
I dunked the ball well I do that well already yeah
turnaround jumpers over each show elbow to elbow every single day oh that's that elbow jumper
elbow to elbow every day I did this shit every single that's what man you get that shit though
that shit consistent go back to old school training man y'all want to keep doing all this
fucking new shit it's great for the game of basketball. Yes, the basis of basketball don't change man simple drills
Don't change get your ass on the block turn over each shoulder learn and turn over each shoulder
Which one feels more comfortable for you?
That'll be you go to get your counter go the other way get your jump shook get long and athletic
Left shoulder get your last on the left block
Left shoulder jump hook every time perfect this motherfucker. So now you got three post moves now you come turn
You got an up and under off of this one. Now you got four post moves you
How much you give a king? Mm-hmm. I just gave you four post moves
for free
We'll be sending an invoice.
Like, Yoki, he's perfected the basics, right?
Like, James Harden, and this goes out to the trainers, too.
The basics of what James Harden does is he shoots the fucking ball first.
That's what he does first, right?
He shoots thousands of shots first.
Then all this extra shit is what he adds to it
to get the shot off.
He is an expert marksman at shooting the ball.
Steph, shooting the ball.
KD, shooting.
They are experts at it first.
You're giving these guys, they got a bag,
but don't have a finishing move, right?
So get the basics.
Like, I know Giannis can Euro dunk.
Okay, let's get your feet, your footwork first.
Let's work on your footwork.
Get it to its greatest point.
From there, whatever you're taught after that doesn't even matter.
You're going to pick it up.
You just need the basics.
Right now, you're leading the league in travels, and you don't even matter you're gonna pick it up you just need the basics right now you're leading the league and travels and you don't even post up that's
what are you traveling at you cut off on the charges yeah that cut off the charge
which cut off the charge them turnovers yeah less possessions getting in foul
trouble use consistently cuz you're out there running people over get on the Cut off the charge. Cut off the charge. Them turnovers. Yep. Less possessions. You're getting in foul trouble.
You consistently, because you're out there running people over.
Get on the block, man.
I'm telling you, do yourself a favor.
Because they can't load up on you?
When it's time to run, run.
Trust me.
Being an athletic and fast, run.
Please, do it. I mean, if you're going to go to a cave. That's what he did
So if you're if you're going to him to teach you those moves, why aren't you playing on the block?
Cuz just like anything when you go there for a weekend
You go we get for Instagram and then that shit don't work in the game. You like fucking I'm go back to my old shit
Where y'all at motherfuckers? Yeah
Yeah, I come
Char and it could save him energy to during the game. Yeah a lot
He can play long because you know his substitutions are short because he plays so fucking hard Yeah, yeah, play them long with states you can play them full quarters. Mm-hmm
You know, it's getting that boy don't be like it's full quarters. It's easier because you're scarier down there, man.
Yeah, no doubt.
At this point, let's just see he even plays.
Terrifying.
I remember when Blake Griffin posted up one time.
No one ever doubled him because he never went down there.
Just the thought of him posting, oh, shit, he's closer to the basket.
Trap.
Yeah. I was getting of him posting, oh, shit, he's closer to the basket. Trap. Yeah.
I was getting, come on, man.
Giving people hell.
17 and in.
Let's go.
Yeah.
Hey, footwork, jab.
Hey, spin off your dunk.
Turn around, jump.
Dude.
When was the last time we seen a post spin dunk?
Swung. Dude. I just thought about, we seen a post spin dunk? Swung.
Dude.
I just thought about when you're posting up,
and then they hide, and you spit.
I mean, AD, AD.
But they spin live.
They spin live.
They spin live.
Anthony Davis is the only one that does it.
The only one that does it.
Anthony Davis and LeBron are the only ones that can do it.
Yeah.
That has done it.
The game is.
You got to be excellent at it.
You got a guy that's ball-dominated, Dame.
He out there, motherfucker, come off, pick and roll.
You post up.
Because once he get a post up, you got to fight to post him.
Once he's good on the block, you got to fight to catch.
Yep.
You can't just let him catch.
Now all they doing, hoping that he does now,
he going to concede the catch so he can face you up.
He's not going to stay in that motherfucking demand the ball.
Right?
Yep.
He going to pop so he can face you.
Face you?
Yep, come at you.
James Worthy.
Right?
Get that motherfucker, run at you, spin.
It's the same.
Dude, I ain't playing against you, but they know what you're finna do.
Get on the block, man.
Work with some shit with your back to the basket, man.
You got to be comfortable, man.
It's not be comfortable. You have to be so uncomfortable this summer that the game becomes comfortable like posting up posting up getting footwork into posting up in small
tight spaces helps you moving forward like when you're coming through like kairi luca shea the
reason they're good at these tight space because they're great post-up players also.
Right?
Jokic, he's a great post-up.
When he's turning face and he's splitting, doing all this stuff because he's great in the block.
Get your footwork down.
Anybody, guards, forward, center.
If you learn how to be great in the post with your tight footwork in tight spaces
When you move and you're coming through pick and roll it did the same footwork works
Because he's fast and I like got fast feet man. Yes, you do, right?
Well, let's name getting all that
And the air was his footwork is like from where it was last year to to now It's like even he's moving in small using yeah back to the back
You've been going back to me now. You know which way he gonna turn when his back is to the bass
He can go left shoulder right shoulder. He only went third fourth year in or if you like
You take away crazy. He gonna hit you with the up and under finishes and
Do it's beautiful to say he can cover so much space on the up-and-under who y'all honest fuck
Yeah, you turn them over and fake that be any good. No with no help. They get the extra step
Yeah, yeah, they get the step through now. So they're back then there was no step through double no step
All right, so you get to come fake and then take that step and go what?
Yes, it does. Yeah, that's a dump be. Still getting your points in the paint. Yeah.
Your points in the paint.
Let's move on to Mostly Fans, presented by Underdog Fantasy.
As always, download the app and go to.
Up to $100.
That's crazy, right?
He showed it to me.
That's what I said.
It just stood out so much like, ah.
But that's my Bucs, though.
Bucs and Clippers saying Gilbert arena
So who's your favorite team?
Not in it
Who cares?
First question
We know you'll warrior fan
Bill disappointed over here first question from underdog user 333.
Who wins a king of the court on this upcoming USA team?
Who wins a king of the court on this upcoming USA team?
Ooh.
Kevin Durant.
Yeah.
Anthony Edwards.
Kevin.
Ooh.
Ooh.
I know.
Now we're thinking about what happened last.
Kevin Durant.
Who else is on there? Booker's on there too, right? I'm going Kevin Durant. Booker's. I like the big name. I know
Lookers on there too, right? I'm going Kevin Durant. I like you. I'm going Kevin Durant Kevin Durant
I'm thinking is on
Big body was this
To dribble nice to see that's the thing see that see now you got a pretty dribble We got two two dribbles one dribble max. That's what they do fucking Kevin Durant
I mean, that's what they do is one drill dribble max
Give me the list
One two dribble max I might change my answer because that's what they do is when you when we're playing one on one
It's in the post is one calling travels or not everything but it's just one dribble or two dribbles
I saw Paul George cook somebody to summon I drew that bitch one
And we do
Yeah, don't want over your shit shoot that mother shoot that ball. Yeah, it's my fuck
So we got bam out about
Bam out about Devin Booker Steph Curry Anthony Davis Anthony Davis, Kevin Durant, Anthony Edwards, Embiid, Halliburton, Drew Holliday, LeBron James, Quiet Leonard, Jason Taylor.
When they do that block, it's going to be Embiid.
It's going to be Embiid for sure.
And they're going to be like, no dribble.
He's going to be like, all right.
Okay.
Shit, motherfucker.
Yeah, but I'm going with.
I changed my answer.
Who are you going with?
KD.
KD.
Listen, you got to have all the criteria for these one-on-one
I'm I can roll with Kawhi Leonard to healthy one dribble to drip one dribble to that's his game. That's his game
Yeah, I mean he's and he go defend he go defend and he go to know Katie
He'll to shoot over and one that one to dribble shit. Yeah, yeah
Motherfucker be like hey, goddamn Katie be a long ass arm up there
I'm like, yo, who's playing who's playing in the ones when you's watching?
Do they even do it
Vince Mac
Was KG no, I'm not watching that full I remember this watching it was doing full court one-on-one and KG was whooping their ass that year.
Man, I would.
Like you score this one and then go down there with the ball.
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah.
Oh yeah, the one-on-one deal.
That was hard.
That was fun.
I don't even think they do that no more.
Nah, they don't do that.
Like players ain't in shape like that and they scared.
Players like we ain't doing that.
That was raw.
That's some real like, let's get after it.
Like give me the ball back.
Give that ball back.
So, second question from underdog user FameGodbody.
If you could create a new postseason award, what would it be and who would be most likely to win it?
You get to create a new postseason award.
Regular season or the whole season?
So, just postseason.
A new postseason award, what would it be and who would be most likely to win it?
I'm gonna go with MVP
postseason MVP yeah, and then
the best player in the NBA wins it
No stat no no just no just the best player in the NBA wins this award. It's called Most Valuable Player.
That's the award that I want.
They have that award in the regular season and in the finals, Gil.
No, no, no.
They got one.
It's called, it's kind of the same, but it's who they vote for.
Say theirs is the, their P stands for popularity.
Popularity.
Who they like.
That's what AP stands for.
We're going for the basketball player.
Can we get an all-tournament team too?
Like AAU style?
Who?
All-tournament team.
I'll pick one.
For the real ones.
What, the in-season tournament you're talking about?
No, for the post-season tournament.
Oh, I thought you was bringing up old shit.
No, I'm not.
I moved on.
Oh, okay.
You sent an award for post?
Yeah.
I think new post is an award
What would it be and who'll be most likely to win it?
I don't know if it should be for players, but it should be for referees
We should get the referee award and the players should be at a boat
I like that so that we can see who was like, you know the top grass that media
The top reference give the Donahue to the body vote for I mean just says we don't get every rep
Do we get every ref do we you vote for? I mean, since we don't get every ref, do we get every ref? Do we go against every
ref? I don't know. I think there's 24 refs
right in the postseason. No, I mean during the regular
season. You mean in the playoffs? Period. You might.
You might. Just period. It's 24 refs, I
believe that they cycle through. But during the regular season,
you might get everyone doing something. It's a lot of
fucking games. You know what they should
do? They should reward
you see Michael
Conley? Like, you know, he's never had a technical
That's crazy in a career most obedient award
Did you just call him Django?
If you're a starter or somebody who plays over like a certain amount of minutes you never got a technical you should get like a Bonus you should get everybody else's tech money
dang bonus
damn
The way the motherfuckers are now.
That'll be going right.
I mean, it kind of makes you think about getting technical.
Like, oh, yeah, that's a problem.
Nearly $35,000 in his career, no text.
I said they should have a trainer's award for all the best trainers who keep their players healthy.
Like, that should be an award.
Lakers will not be in the running.
I mean, that should be from the team. You should get a little bonus from your team.
I just think just from every, like, from the whole league.
What war?
What the hell?
Okay, let's take this serious.
Go.
I think they should give a, like, biggest shit talker award.
Anthony Edwards may or may not be.
I don't know.
The most feared.
As voted on by your period.
Most feared. Something like that, right? The most feared. Like, yeah. Who gonna vote for that? Yeah, know. That's the most feared. As voted on by your peer. Most feared?
Something like that, right?
The most feared.
Like, yeah, the most feared.
Who gonna vote for that?
Yeah, something like that.
The most feared.
Like, do you know the awards that they actually have?
And they be giving, like, a most hated coach or a most hated coach.
They should actually get a real award for that.
Like, give them motherfuckers a trophy.
Yeah.
Most overrated.
Most underrated.
Even with the players.
I'm just saying. They have that on the side of what they want. All that. Everything. Like, there should be a trophy for it. Most overrated most I'm just saying they had that all that everything
Most underrated most hated mother like yeah
Like the ugliest NBA play in the league this year
The biggest flopper award
The most The ugliest nigga in the league award. The biggest flopper award. It's a lot we could give. I don't know.
Like the most...
Did you say the ugliest?
Yeah, the ugliest NBA player.
Most unattractive.
Yeah, the most unattractive.
That'd be all more...
All NBA ugly team.
All NBA ugly team.
Shit, we got...

That sounds like a good place to stop.
Please be mad on that one.
