I'm Dr. Joy, and this is Therapy for Black Girls. We spend our surviving middle school run getting into what's happening inside your kids' brain, the group chats, and their friendships, and what you can do about it. Your child is not doing this on purpose. That's the kind of perspective we've been pulling from the psychologists and psychiatrists who studied this for a living.
Starting point is 00:00:52 Listen to Therapy for Black Girls on the IHart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. On recent episodes of The Questlove show, I chatted with Jojo about her music and Wallo 267 about his story, everything in between. Don't invite me to karaoke. I'm going to make it weird. Someone's going to try to sing, leave it out or too little, too late, or baby, it's you. Oh, no. And I'm going to be like, okay, okay, cool. Check out my conversation with Jojo, Wolo 267, and more on the Questlove show.
Starting point is 00:01:21 Listen to the Questlove show on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. Peace. Hey everybody, it's me, Debbie Kumabelle. This season on my podcast, Who's with me, I speak with Bruce Lee's daughter, Brandon Lee's sister, and my friend, Shannon Lee. Back to your initial point of stewarding my father's legacy and giving my energy to that. You're lending your life to stewarding somebody else's life. Listen to Who's With Me with Debbie Kumal Bell on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. me. You do not deserve happiness.
Starting point is 00:02:03 I'm Andrea Gunning. On this season of betrayal, Carl thought he was living a normal drama-free life until the messages started. Someone's not going to make it out of this alive. Every piece of evidence pointed to the wrong guy. He was not going to stop unless we stopped him. Listen to Betrayal Season 6 on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. His deal was bad. They had to get here.
Starting point is 00:02:31 Let's keep this thing moving. Let's keep this thing moving. So Thunder had the making of the next dynasty heading into last season as the then-defending champs returned. Most of their core jumped out to a 24-1 record with all-N-BBA and all-defensive wing. Jalen Williams sideline for most of the regular season
Starting point is 00:02:47 and playoffs. But Winby and the Spurs put the league on notice. Damn, Gil, Thunder talking, you did? It's snack time. But Whimby and the Spurs put the league on notice going four-on-one against us. OKC in the regular season, including a stretch in December where they won three straight games in 13 days.
Starting point is 00:03:04 OKC still finished with 64 wins to take the top spot in the West for the third straight season as SGA won his second straight MVP set the record for most consecutive 20-point games at 140 and counting. But after sweeping the Sons and Lakers in the first two rounds, they came just short of returning to the finals as the Spurs continued to put belt to ass ending their season in game seven of the Western Conference Finals. Thunderheaded to this season with their big three and Tassers. with Jalen Williams and Chet Holmgren's extensions kicking in this season.
Starting point is 00:03:33 Isaiah Hardinstein is back on a new three-year deal. Alex Caruso has three years left on his deal, while all defensive guard, Cason Wallace, A.J. Mitchell, and Jared McCain will see increased roles this season. They also grabbed Michigan Big Man Aday Mara and Iowa guard Bennett Sturtz, in the first round of the draft. Now they enter this season healthy and with something to prove. So Gil, we'll start with you.
Starting point is 00:03:55 We're looking at this Thunder Squad. It's next. Swaggy, we'll start with you. I think they're going to be right. Are this thunder the team to beat in the West or did the Spurs expose them? I think they just ran into the Spurs. I think if they were to play the Knicks,
Starting point is 00:04:08 they were to won the finals. I think they got a chance to go back to where they belong. They still got Shady, still got J. Doug coming back. They rested him, did a good job with him. Chet know what he got to do this year. I feel like that was, when you come off a year, Well, a season like that where the world is watching
Starting point is 00:04:29 and you look like you wasn't even involved in the game but wanted to be there you got to come back with a chip on your shoulder or you'll be known as that guy for the rest of your career. And it's still okay seeing the West for me. Okay. Let's just over to you, BD.
Starting point is 00:04:52 BD, you look at this Thunder Squad. Obviously, Spursor 4-1 against him, Jalen Williams. They played in four of those five. games, I'm not mistaken. But it was hurt for most of the season. Only played 33 games. Missed like 11 out of the 15 playoff games, 10, but only played seven minutes in one of them too.
Starting point is 00:05:06 So wasn't around, wasn't himself. The rest of the team had to pick up. It's like AJ Mitchell ended up becoming, big in the playoffs also hurt. Got him on a very, very good deal. Sweet deal. When you look at this Thunder Squad, is their championship window still open,
Starting point is 00:05:20 or the Spurs basically exposed them? No, I think their championship window is still open. I think what may have fucked O KC, was you got off to that great start, all these dudes developed into new roles, then you got to work J. Dubb back into it. Now, you know, when you work J. Dubb back into it, now Chet don't know where he fall
Starting point is 00:05:40 and everybody kind of fighting for, everybody's going to lose something when a man guy comes back. Now the main guy come back, now the main guy is gone, now everybody's trying to figure out, all right, we got to go back to where we was with 24 and 1,
Starting point is 00:05:56 but you can't get back there, because you started with a different mentality, you know what I mean? So now you kind of clouded. And so I think, to answer your question, I definitely think they're contenders. I think that they need to take a page out of the Knicks book, and Chet needs to take a page out of Carl Anthony Tow's book and say, hey, man, I got to be more sacrificial to this team and not look to be like, you know, a dynamic score, but to be the best.
Starting point is 00:06:28 Like, I got to figure out who I am. Potential is over. You don't want your championship, right? And I think coming out this year, it was kind of like how Kat played again. Like the series Cat Haddock win when we lost to Indiana. It was like, damn, dude, like, this big dude is good. We can use them. We know we need him.
Starting point is 00:06:48 He's valuable. Like, check got to take that. All right, I'm going to sacrifice. And OKC got to say, yo, we got to build this dude into being the X factor for the team. So he got to go back to being the X factor, not a number two. Jay Dove come back being the number two is great for them. They number three is a six-man, a dude who will probably be six-man of the year.
Starting point is 00:07:11 So, like, Chet being the X-factor, he don't really need to be an option. When he was an option, it's not that he couldn't live up to a number two option. It's just you don't have the number two option. X factor. Like, you're not a, like in this league, you got to be, have a one A or one B, like you got to have a one mentality. You got to have that mentality. When you lose your number two, Chet's not feeling that role. He's still going to stay. No, he needs to stay at somebody else. You need to go find another number too because in this league it's about being able to score, being able to score at a high value. And, you know, I don't think
Starting point is 00:07:49 Chet is like somebody who's going to go out and get you 30 or get you 40. You know, right? And you need something, you need that. Like, Kat can go get 40. Right, hit eight threes, all that. Like, Chet doing that is like, that's a hell of a game. But if Chet can get you 10 blocks, check can get eight blocks, some steals, be in the right defensive position, get some dunks at the rim.
Starting point is 00:08:09 So I think he needs to become more of the X factor for OKC. And if that happens, then it's hard to stop Shay. You know, it's going to, Jay Dub going to come back with a vengeance. And then that kid Mitchell is, man, that kid is special. Cason Wallace. He got game in Cahoo. McCain, he got game up to hoop.
Starting point is 00:08:30 So when you start looking at it, the Spurs just caught him at the right time, young, hungry, and they gangster them up. You know what I mean? They wrapped them up. Like, nah, the little bro was like, no, you ain't about to do that. They got in the real tussle. And they was like, oh, shit, little bro is strong. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:08:46 Like, he can wrestle too. And I think that's what happened when San Antonio got him. So I think it's going to be a hell of a year in the West. OK, see, San Antonio. I think the Lakers are going to be there too. The long loading times. The glitchy video calls. That's your house asking for better internet.
Starting point is 00:09:08 Switch to Bell Pure Fiber, Canada's most reliable internet awarded by OpenSignal from $75 a month. Price guaranteed for two years on a two-year term and auto pay credit. Visit bell.ca for more details and to check availability. Bell, connection is everything. By age 11 or so, at least 70% have a lot. Middle school is a different world than the one we grew up in. I'm Dr. Joy, and this is therapy for black girls.
Starting point is 00:09:38 We spent real time on it in our surviving middle school run, bringing in a child psychologist and a psychiatrist who's raising two black girls of his own to talk about what's really going on with our kids right now. So it's literally physiological and neurological and psychological and psychological chaos happening all this same time. We got into group chats and gaming, friendships and bullying, and how to tell the difference between healthy monitoring, and the kind of surveillance that erodes trust. There's belonging.
Starting point is 00:10:05 You could think of belonging as, I can be myself and I can still be accepted. And then there's fitting in. Spitting in says I have to change who I am in order to avoid rejection. Then we turn the conversation toward the fathers, sitting down with therapist Keer Gaines on Black fatherhood and what it means to raise a daughter through this stage.
Starting point is 00:10:24 You don't have on shorts so you can't do flips, you have on the dress, so you have to cross your legs. That's the range of this run. From screen time to identity to the fatherhood. doing the work at home. You have to get off her device. But the reality is there's a lot of lives out there that we don't want you as your adults in their lives
Starting point is 00:10:40 to miss out on. This has been our surviving middle school run. Brought to you by the people who spend their careers thinking about exactly this. I'm Dr. Joy. Listen to Therapy for Black Girls on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
Starting point is 00:10:55 Hey, what's up y'all? It's Questlove. And on the Questlove show, I've been sitting down with some really interesting people and I've got two recent episodes you should check out. I caught up with my good friend Jojo to talk about her music, her career, and what she's been up to. Don't invite me to karaoke.
Starting point is 00:11:11 I'm going to make it weird. Someone's going to try to sing, leave get out, or too little, too late, or baby, too. Oh, no. And I'm going to be like, okay, cool. I also caught up with Wally-2-67 for a conversation that covered his story, his perspective, and plenty more.
Starting point is 00:11:25 I don't even call it cheat day. That's a life day. I'm not doing nothing. Don't try to be slick and just go Sunday. Go Wednesday. This is what you do. Sleep later. Make a reservation for the rest of the round later.
Starting point is 00:11:36 Just chill. Listen to the music you want to listen to. Just enjoy it. It's going to be all right. Nothing's going to have you. Wake up Wednesday. I'm like, ah, and you're going to feel better. And those are just two of the many recent episodes of the Questlove show.
Starting point is 00:11:51 Listen to the Questlove show on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcast, wherever you get your podcast. Peace. Listen to Brown Ambition on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. The new NFL season is here, and you should be listening to NFL Daily as we march along
Starting point is 00:13:09 to Super Bowl 61. Last year, we had Mike McDonald, Sam Darnold, on the field after the game. But that was last year. If you're a football sicko like me, NFL Daily is your kind of show. It is in the name. NFL Daily, fresh content in your feed every day all season long. Matthew Stafford coming off his MVP season. Darts from Matthew Stafford. Big time trades that shake up the NFL. A.J. Brown is loose. And of course, those Seahawks trying to run it back and win another Lombardi trophy.
Starting point is 00:13:45 The Seahawks win Super Bowl 60. They are bringing the Lombardy back to the northwest. If it's happening on a football field, NFL Daily will cover it. Listen to NFL Daily on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. So let's shift over you, Josh. So when you look at regular season, obviously Spurs, whoop the Thunderass 4-1, they had that streak, three straight wins against them in December,
Starting point is 00:14:11 including knocking them out of the NBA Cups in my finals, get to the playoffs, series goes seven. A.J. Mitchell doesn't play the last four games of that series. Jaylon Williams doesn't play much of that series as well. Still able to take them to seven games. And Shay almost wheeled them back to the finals. But has the Thunder's championship window closed? Because the Spurs are going to get better, too.
Starting point is 00:14:30 So Wimmy's coming back. I don't think it's closed, but I think we're forgetting about or just not thinking about Minnesota. I've been waiting for Ant to get like a back court mate that like made it makes sense in Minnesota. Now they even added Kaminga who has something to prove he's going to be playing a power for us. I just really want to see him run and Goberting got to do nothing but what he's been doing. Stange your big ass in front that rim.
Starting point is 00:14:54 Can't score for nothing. But I like Minnesota this year to catch them, to catch OKC at that. I love the mellow ball, so I gotta rock with that. My problem is Anthony Edwards. That's my problem with Minnesota. You can't be on this couch. I'm just thinking, like, when you think about it, like. That's a black superhero already, man.
Starting point is 00:15:15 I love him. I love Ed, man. I love his game. But he's my problem with Minnesota because aunt stopped getting downhill. You dig what I'm saying? So as a superstar, as a superstar, you got to put him. pressure on the defense. He'd be out there playing with people, bawling, getting his shit off. His three was popping this year. But like, for him, for him, it got to be like, when you show,
Starting point is 00:15:42 like when I go watch you play, I want to see a show, right? I want to see a show. Like, I want to see a show. Like, I want to see you dunk on somebody, you know, all the shit that you're doing. I want to, that has to be magnified. And I think he got to be one to get down heels. And he got to, he got to be tougher than Jay McDaghan. You know what I mean? He has to be the toughest person on his team. Not saying he got to be Rarra, but he got to be a lot tougher for me.
Starting point is 00:16:11 He got to go take some hits. He got to go out. You know, he got to be physical. He fell in love with the three. And I don't know if that's going to kind of get you over the hump when he don't get to the hole as much as he should. Like, he should be shooting 10, 15 free throws again. I feel like if he had a point guard this whole time, like the Conley-slash-Divinson
Starting point is 00:16:34 situation was like, what was that? You can find him a point guard where baskets come a little easier and he's not trying to dance on everybody. He can't double-teens a lot too, though. Right. Yeah, every superstar gets a double-team, buddy. Yeah, everybody. Every superstar gets double-team, dog.
Starting point is 00:16:50 You know, when motherfuckers don't want to get hit as much because the team is sitting in a lane, you're going to shoot jumpers more. Yeah, for sure. So the fact that he do have another shooter that's going to spread the floor, that other guard ain't sitting in his lap. Then you have Kaminga who's going to dive. Yeah. Right, so you got more pieces that keep the floor.
Starting point is 00:17:11 You got more complimenting. Yeah, that can't, they don't keep the floor going. OKC though. Mm. Mm. I got to see their first game against Spurs because I can tell you this. You let a bunch of 19, 18-year-olds. Thanks.
Starting point is 00:17:27 Smack the chance. Like, you know what I mean? Like at first we was, oh, you know, they're just doing it. But when you actually look at how the game is being played, OKC superpower is attacking the basket. Yeah. Well, they got a neutralizer. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:43 That is the actual problem for them that you have Wembe sitting in the lane. Yep. That is making you guys shoot jumpers that you don't want to shoot. Like, you want to play the in-out game, but you want to attack, attack, attack, attack, attack. Everybody starts sitting back. you get to hit your little floaters. Yep.
Starting point is 00:17:59 Now you have a bunch of guards who are picking you up the whole time. The whole time. Forcing you into the big man. So you're shooting jumpers when women's in. And that's what you do to everybody else. And then when he comes out, y'all try to like hurry up and hit the lane when the backup center is in. So what happens with, with that is you gave them confidence. And the confidence is not a one game too.
Starting point is 00:18:21 The whole time. Yeah. Like through regular season, through the playoffs. Like them going into that game seven. Even though y'all was favorite, they was confident. You didn't, like, they've won. Yeah, beat you out too many times. Yeah, they understood how to make you.
Starting point is 00:18:35 Like, Chet, like, there's just so many things that OKC has to do when they play against them if they want to reopen that window. Right now, Spurs has closed that window for you. No matter who you get, until you beat them, the confidence of those young boys is, it's top 10. But you can't. Like, you're not going to tell me in the playoffs that Chet is going to. go out there and go 30 or 20. No, he ain't.
Starting point is 00:19:00 When he's going to look at him like, who is this? Who is this guy? Damn. See? Yeah, so what happens? Dope a dog fool every day. Dope. You know, dog.
Starting point is 00:19:09 Dope. A dog. Like, that's, you get up. You get up. It's water. It's water. No, it's not. That ain't water.
Starting point is 00:19:23 That ain't water. Okay. So, KC has, like, their window is, There's someone in there who has so much confidence, and they're going to go into this season. Like, we went into there. We beat the champs. The back-to-back MVP couldn't do nothing with us, right?
Starting point is 00:19:42 We had it. We got older. We got stronger. We got wiser. Right? Because we lost to the champ. And now we got our full team, though. OKC saying now we got our full opportunity squad.
Starting point is 00:19:53 But don't they get away than more fouls on shit, too, though? Who? Don't they get the push shit? I mean, not check. I mean, Shay, just because the little fake foul thing, She had to deal with all some. I mean, that's gift. That's gift.
Starting point is 00:20:04 But it didn't work. I mean, it didn't work during the season. All I'm saying is you can't, I can't knock you out nine times. And then go into a fight and you think I'm scared of you. Yeah. That's just, that's exciting. Yeah, the fear factors, though. The fear factors, go there's going on.
Starting point is 00:20:17 Okay, so you got to become the hunters. But it's not you at full, sure. I know exactly what you're saying good, but it's not you at full strength. Yeah, that's fine. Y'all was that full strength at some point? No, no, never. Beginning of the season, it don't matter. Because the regular season is not the same as a playoffs.
Starting point is 00:20:30 It don't matter. I know there's one guy on that team. There's one guy on that team you need as an X factor, and I punk him. Just my presence. And I know he ain't going to do nothing about it. Now what? As soon as I get around, he's going to pass the ball. I mean, there's just so many things mentally that OKC needs to do to that Spurs team.
Starting point is 00:20:55 If you want to, because you got to have to get back. You got to come back and you got to be the big dog. Big the big is a full court. You got to. That's what OKC do. San Antonio did to OKC, what OKC did to the Lakers. We're going to pick you up full. We're going to put pressure on you.
Starting point is 00:21:11 We're going to get to the rim, right? And we're going to follow you into our big dude. That's going to block everything. And that's what happened to them. I'm about to say, keep going, keep going. And that's exactly what happened to them. So now you got to come back and say, all right, that happened to us. They play the way we play, but J. Dub didn't play.
Starting point is 00:21:29 Right? J. Dub played and put everybody back in position. Okay, AJ over here. Man, they ain't going to be able to do that to us when we got wing players, and J. Dub can bring the ball up. Now I can put Shay wherever he need. Now I'm going to try and it's different when I'm out here. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:21:49 Then if it's Lou Dort, you know, Lou Dort having to. I mean, I mean, if that's how y'all want to. want to go in a training camp, that's cool. Hey, me, let me tell one of my employees, we need some more napkins. Wife? You know, that's the first time I get to call my wife an employee. I got to use that shit at work.
Starting point is 00:22:10 Can I get some napkins, please? You know, keep in the family. You get to do that. No wonder you're so big on the friend. Just so you can call it employee. That's why you're so big. Your Wimby stance has shifted. Your Wimby stands has shifted.
Starting point is 00:22:27 You've been very, very pro-Wingby. The Frenchie. Yeah, you're a punk. Yeah, you know you got to hear about it after. You're going to get bullied. But also said, you're going to get bullied that. So that match of this season, but it's going to be a different look, potentially with the Thunder coming and Healthy.
Starting point is 00:22:41 So how much of a difference will a healthy Jalen Williams make for O KC this season? Play 33 days. I mean, he's doing with Steph Castle due for San Antonio and, and what Harper do for San Antonio. So he kind of like, yeah, yeah, he kind of like, you know, the person in the series that we were missing that we didn't see. And it's like, where, you know, where's the Scotty Pitt? You need your Scotty Pippen, dude.
Starting point is 00:23:10 That was to show how valuable J-dub was to O.K. So let me ask you that son. If the beginning of the year ain't working out, right? Mm. Would y'all trade for Hartenstein? and check for Embed since, like, Embedd is 55. Hell no. Hell no.
Starting point is 00:23:30 You don't think Embedd and Shea's? I'm not giving away two bids for one. Yeah, that might not have played. Yeah, for one, no way. That's the top 20 player. No what I'm saying. Drug testing? Did he get through all four of his drug tests?
Starting point is 00:23:41 Who? Embed. Man, I'm going to fill him up with some drugs. Right? That's what I'm saying. Yeah, I'm injecting with some super fluid if I make that trade. You got to play every day. That's what I'm asking.
Starting point is 00:23:52 That's what I'm asking. It's hard to get hurt. As soon as the trade happened, I'm sending his ass to a laugh. Somebody. For real. For real. To some shit for five days. He got to play the rest of the season.
Starting point is 00:24:02 You know, Chet is probably one of the only, he's a weird trade. Like, I, like, I would have to get back, like, a lot of pieces. A lot of pieces. I'm talking about a seven-footer that I know defensively, he's going to be first-team, second team. Yep. Right? Offensively, I know what he could. possibly do. He can hit the shot. He can give us, he can give us 17-22 if he was, if he was the
Starting point is 00:24:31 main guy, he's going to give you 22 double-double. So me just trading him for just anybody. Now, that has to, that's a smart. When you trade, if you trade him, it has to be a smart training. You got to replenish and get better. You got to trade him, get better. A seven-foot, like a seven-foot that I can move. Ah, you just don't trade shit like that. And Chad is good, man. I'm telling you, him being the X-factor takes a lot of, Being an X factor take a lot of pressure off of you than being the second person in charge in the second lead. He's going to be able to, he going to get a lot more open shots, right? He's going to get, you know, a lot of opportunities for lobs and dunks because now you've got more playmakers on the court.
Starting point is 00:25:13 And now J-Dove and Shay out here, you're not thinking about shit. The big dude has got to leave. Now all he got to do is hit a couple threes, be aggressive, be in the dunk area. He got to guard the Frenchie. That's the only thing you really got. He can do that. He can do that. He got the hype to do it.
Starting point is 00:25:30 He took his heart, though. That's the hard thing. And he let it be known before games and interviews. He was, yeah. Like, yeah. So, so, so check got to go power up and figure out, hey, bro, this dude just, you know what I mean? He just did this. Man, I got to come back for the season and be like, oh, no, this ain't happened.
Starting point is 00:25:48 Yeah, that's what I'm saying. Even if he do dominate, if he dominate 25% less. against me, we win that series. So it ain't really about, hey man, do it may just be better than you, but you can play a lot better against him for your team, for you to be the X factor for your team to win.
Starting point is 00:26:10 If not, if you get into a mono-a-mono thing, you ain't, dog is trying to tell you you ain't on his level. And so if I know I ain't on your level, bro, then I got to have an underdog mentality and be able to try and clip your wing. I'm not going to outscore Gil. I got to think about how can I make Gil's life difficult?
Starting point is 00:26:31 Scoring. And then how do I make Gil do shit that he don't want to do? Like play defense, pass the ball. You know what I mean? And then when he passed it, you know, like if he passed the ball to say if Brendan was here, he passed the ball to Brendan, he's not getting the ball back. He pissed off Brendan happy and I'm cool. You know, I get to take him for that stuff.
Starting point is 00:26:51 And if you score on him in the face at all? I'm like, you buy yourself, you buy yourself. No double, no double. Like, let him meet. Let him eat, dog. If he gets 20, he still got a chance. People don't understand that it's a game. Yeah, it's the whole thing.
Starting point is 00:27:06 You go to the game and you say, okay, if he get 20, we can still win. We just can't let him get 40 and we can't let him hit his average. Right? So it's all the numbers game. You just plan. And the way you predict in people's future of the game. The way you hit his average too, yeah. I know that Spurs is like that's our thing.
Starting point is 00:27:32 I'm going to be like, oh, you know what? Listen, this is what we're going to do. We're going to take Winby out. We're going to double ten. We don't want, I don't want him to get over five rebounds. I don't want him to have ten points. Right. We're going to fuck his stats up so much that you can see if they win, he ain't happy about it.
Starting point is 00:27:50 So every time he play us, we'll drop these four. Yep. But we're going to, because that MVP race, every time your ass win and you with 10, 4, and 1, that fucks you up in that race, you're going to hate playing against us. Yeah, yeah. We're going to purposely do it. Let everybody eat. Just double them. Just pass the ball.
Starting point is 00:28:11 Pass the ball. Pass the ball score. I mean. And then getting the playoffs, flip it. Flip it. And now you're like, oh, man, this team is going to double team anyway. And now you got the ball and ain't double it. Now you got to figure out.
Starting point is 00:28:24 Before he come double You already done that You've been doubling for three quarters And you don't see a double boy You're taking my first shot Yeah, you're gonna It's gonna be a couple charges It's a mind game
Starting point is 00:28:37 You gotta play the game I mean you don't know nothing about that though Nah Treda's an ex-cule I can't have to think He just had to go on a double E, I just be a X-Pact I'm like yeah
Starting point is 00:28:47 I'm like Kobe doing I'm on doubles triples You know I mean you get out of it Yeah I It's just bad agent So J. Lynn Williams, A.J. Mitchell, come back with him to improve things.
Starting point is 00:28:56 But Chet, obviously, the X-Fact, in your guys' opinion. But you can't have a game seven where you have four points, four rebounds. Take two shots in the first quarter. Don't shoot the rest of the game without J. Dub and A.J. Mitchell out there. That's when it's supposed to be your time. You don't need to have 30. You don't run plays for. But at a third point.
Starting point is 00:29:15 He had the ball, though. You had the ball. You have a center. You had the ball. You have to run plays for a big dude. Every big dude in today's game. you got to run place for. But you got to look at the rim, though. You got to look at the rim.
Starting point is 00:29:28 You don't run place to redone. He ain't got to run. He ain't got to redone. I know. You ain't looking at the rim, though. I know that it doesn't do that. All I can't do it. You ain't looking at the rim, though.
Starting point is 00:29:38 She didn't even look at the rim when he had the ball sometime. Yeah, he was out of it. He played bogus. Yeah. And there's some things Wimby was doing out there, man. He got punked. Yeah, he was just things that, like, Even though Wemby is like frail.
Starting point is 00:29:56 Yeah, he was bullying him. He do play like physical. Like he hit you, like he'd be flopping and stuff, but he'd be coming there and playing dirty. And if you're checking, he'd come in there, he hits you with an elbow, do stuff, just, and then he's coming in, he's going to dunk on you doing it. Like that was just like, ooh, ooh, okay, yeah.
Starting point is 00:30:13 Smack it out of there and start doing this. There's just these little things that he was doing, and you can just see, just. He was just chipping away, just breaking it out. 40 and 12 and four blocks. So, like, you just look at, ooh, shit. This is rough. But they got to run plays for them.
Starting point is 00:30:27 If you're going to put them in as a second option, you got to run plays. You got to post them up. You got to put him in the middle post. You got to run pick and roll. You got to run horns. You got to bring them across, get a pin down. You got to do something. You got to do something.
Starting point is 00:30:38 If you got to run plays for me, you don't need to be the second option, though. If you're 13-in-a-in-a-old-old-old-old-old-old-old-old. If you're 13-game, I would have to demand the ball. Yes, if you got to run plays for me, I can't get on my own. I can't be a second option. You can't get no money on your own. If I get the ball and I need to come off the screen every time, this is it. 13 for defense.
Starting point is 00:30:57 I need to be the 4. I'm just, I can't have 4 and 4. That's a defensive player stats. That he's not an offensive player, 17 and 8. You're a defensive player. That's how you're making that team. But he can't mean.
Starting point is 00:31:10 Understandable, but I can't be dropping 4 in a game. No, yeah. We needed that 17. We needed that 17. If we would have 20, Or hit in 17 as the X factor? Like, okay, see, where? Shoot the ball.
Starting point is 00:31:22 No, no, no, no. Y'all missing something. It's called back-to-back MVP, right? There's a back-to-back MVP, scoring champ. And then second, you better run some plays because when I'm kicking in, God damn it, if you don't let me know somebody else need the ball. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:31:38 I don't know. I'm doing what I'm doing. Yep. That's what it feels like triangle. Triangle. Because George's forgetting about the rest of. them. Yeah. And somebody needs to call something to get everybody here. So say everybody else. It feels like that. Move, dude. Not for check.
Starting point is 00:31:56 Brut. You have to drop. You have to drop. You have to like the ball and getting it to your head though. You had the ball in your hand. There's been, there's been, there's been games. I don't have to pass. He wasn't even in the game because Brunson, that motherfucker. As soon as Brunson just hit 10 and it went that way. Come on. And the game said, baby, man. Yes, stop. But the difference is, Brunson, they're going to be like, oh, hold on, let us check back. We got to get cat. We got to get cat going.
Starting point is 00:32:25 Chet ain't that for OKC. He's not the, he's more the bridges, Anobie, Josh Hart type of player, like where you're an X-factor defense. Defense is where you hang your hat. Making shots and being available and taking a- He was supposed to be like KD at one point coming in. But he was supposed to be like a KD. He's 16 guard that can shoot. Man, you can't be KD average 17.
Starting point is 00:32:52 That's what I'm saying. You ain't KD. He was wrong. He came in like that, though. No, he didn't. He's 16 skinny that can shoot. He scored the ball off the dribble. We thought he was KD.
Starting point is 00:33:04 Someone thought. Someone said, oh, he's KD. No, it's a real Kevin Durant. There's a real Kevin Durant out of here. I'm not like it. How the fuck? I'm not like it. I'm a all thought.
Starting point is 00:33:15 Oh, he's like Katie. I'm a whole thought. I'm a whole thought. Oh, right, bro. Something like it. I can do better than four shots. I don't need the play. Whatever you think, whatever you think, the real person is right here.
Starting point is 00:33:27 KD don't need plays for him. KD don't need KD. Thank you, that's what I'm saying. But KD has been a score and star his whole life. You know there's natural scores. Like that person knows how to get the ball. But that's what I'm saying. The number two shit is that.
Starting point is 00:33:42 No, KD don't need plays for them, but guess what they do? I'm in the place from him. Run place for Katie. Because he don't need to play. He acts like the ball in his hands and during the game and was, looking at the rim,
Starting point is 00:33:56 they threw it. These niggas just throw it somewhere else. He didn't want the ball. He's not an offensive player. He's a third. If they threw you the ball, would you have passed it? Nope.
Starting point is 00:34:07 Different lines. At the number two, different minds. At the number two, we're saying we need the draw. Just because you got the name, the number don't mean that you. That's you.
Starting point is 00:34:15 It ain't going to work out all the time if your number two don't number two. I'm saying they didn't need players with J-Dude. They don't need-J-Dub. But J-Dubb is, his mentality. Jay-Dub got the ball in his hand. He's going to get the ball off the breaking goal. He's going to go. The offense is geared for him.
Starting point is 00:34:32 OK, see, offense is not geared or they don't include Chet into the fabric of the offense. If you look, take the Knicks. They come down. O.G. can get off. McHale Bridges get off Brunson get hot early shit, deuce may get hot early Josh Hart may get going
Starting point is 00:34:49 But you got to go back to Kat You got to run a pick Man we got to take care of the big fella Cat going to catch the ball Pump Faye get Cat knows fuck that man I ain't got no points I gotta go get me some money
Starting point is 00:35:02 Kat's thing is I am a score I'm one of the best scores in this league Best big man in this league His cat's superpower is offense Chet superpower is defense He don't have the offensive mentality To be like
Starting point is 00:35:19 Defense? Yes He don't have the offensive mentality To be like damn bro I ain't got no shots up Let me He gonna pass the ball And swing it and go set a pick
Starting point is 00:35:28 And he's gonna be opportunistic Once he take If he makes the leap this year And say you know what shit I need that rock baby Hey no coach Let me get two of these plays You know what I mean
Starting point is 00:35:39 So I can say Y'all need me then it's different. But right now, he's not an offensive player. Is Chad, Shade, Dork, Wiggins, and Hawkins out there? Not anymore. I get four shots in that game.
Starting point is 00:35:56 I don't care what type of mindset to that. Two shots. You're not an officer. Four shots. You're not an officer. At some point, I scored that. I'm an all-story. I scored 20 points in game.
Starting point is 00:36:05 What's my career? 17. What's my career high? No, this is my only year for that. But what I'm saying? What do you average? last year? 17.
Starting point is 00:36:13 How many, listen, how many, okay, how about this, Harper, Harper, how many plays did they call for Harper?
Starting point is 00:36:20 No. None. They don't. They ain't called no play for them. Give me the ball, let me do work. This is the week. If you are an
Starting point is 00:36:29 offensive player, when you get the ball and you will score, you don't care about no plays. You just know like, ooh, shit, I got the ball.
Starting point is 00:36:38 I can't believe. Let me make sure I got some space. Yeah. Let me off. operate. He's catching the ball and planning, let me find Shea. Let me find the guard, set a pick. Let me pop. Let me get something at the rim. They're not running no curls for check. They're not running no pop out. Three point. They're not running no shots for him at the end of the game to shoot a three point. You can't average 18 and not look at the rim. If you're a defense. If you're scared, if you scared to fail, yes. If you're scared, if you don't, there's players out there. Since I being a rookie, I've been averaging this.
Starting point is 00:37:14 I don't... My last couple series. What I'm saying is there's players in the league, the strong mentality, championship game, one for 17, cool. I went out with a bang. There's guys who's like, you know what? I don't want to feel like we lost on my behalf. I'm going to take only shots that I know I can make. So if I took two shots and it was two layups, that's all I'm going to take.
Starting point is 00:37:41 You can't blame it on me and look at my record. It's going to have to care about their percentages and shit. Yeah, yes. I don't feel like that was one of them games. No, he just didn't want to make a mistake. He just didn't want to shoot. No, he just didn't want to go grab the, he didn't want to go get it. Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
Starting point is 00:37:54 And that's what I'm saying. You have to be an offensive player and in that mentality to come into game seven or whatever game that was and be like, I know I'm scoring 20. Yeah. I'd be, if I get 13, I'd take 24 shots to get 13 points. You can't, you know, I take a two shot. You're not taking two shots, bro. That's what I'm saying? What can you get with two shots, bro?
Starting point is 00:38:15 Nothing. For one. That's why you better go back to being an X factor or ask the coach. Hey, coach, maybe that was my fault. Maybe that was your fault. It's a combination of both. I'd at least like to get no less than 10 shots a game on the worst night. I think average is 11 field goal attempts a game.
Starting point is 00:38:34 And it's three years in the league. That ain't no offensive player. He only been in three years? But average 17 is a rookie year. That's what I'm saying. 16 is second year. 18 is 30. You shoot 60%, 50% when he shoot from the floor.
Starting point is 00:38:47 You're taking 10 shots, 12 shots? That's not 11 points right there. 53% career shooter. I think shit. 37% of 3.7 foot. In this era, I can get three offensive rebounds a night. Guarrenz-a-a-big-dews. Mazzarid average 17.
Starting point is 00:39:04 Coming off the bench. All right, well, let's shift over to the franchise player. Shegilders Alexander may be the most valuable player in the league. Also one of the most disrespected haters marginalizing his greatness by calling him a foul baiter and a free throw merchant, amongst other things. But the fact is he's a back-to-back MVP, made history as the first MVP to average over 30 points and five assists on 55% shooting from the field in a season. Yeah, when you look at SGA, does he deserve more respect for his historic run and winning back-to-back MVP? He's has the potential now to be the first person to win three straight MVP since Larry Bird. ain't going to happen.
Starting point is 00:39:40 I'm pretty sure one MVP gives you respect in the same year winning the championship and the finals that puts you in a whole another level of a discussion and then you come back
Starting point is 00:39:54 defend it with another MVP the question is how come the grates of today don't get the same respect as the grace you're protecting why is this man called the foul merchant because he's smarter. When Jerry West is smarter and everybody, he was smarter.
Starting point is 00:40:15 When Larry Bird was doing his thing, getting foul, jumping. These were called very smart IQ players. Today, you're using these random words by a bunch of nobodies to discredit greatness. Yep. It's disgusting. Social media, though, different times. Like, it's just the weirdest thing. Like, if I'm the, if I'm the, if, if, if,
Starting point is 00:40:41 If I'm this generation's NBA, I would say, hey, listen, the rules you got us in, these rules, these weird rules, can you apply it to all of us that ever played? If championships matter, apply it to everybody. There's no grandfather this motherfucker no more. Yeah. That top 75, redo it to today's terms. No grandfather in the first 50. Motherfuss got 4,000 points, 2,000 rebound. Yeah, yeah, for sure.
Starting point is 00:41:12 But there was nine people in the lead. No, no, no, no. Open it up. Open it up so we can see who's who. But you're grandfathering and keeping people in, but you're destroying the future, trying to protect legacies. And it's sad that a back-to-back MVP,
Starting point is 00:41:29 going into the MVP, they're saying, oh, yeah, he's just bowed, that's a gift. Understanding the human. Think about it, it's human behavior. If I know I do a step back and you're a jumper and I give you one of these and you jump and I catch you off guard, I outsmarted you. That's what that is. If I get wimmy to go and do one of these, old rondo, and you jump and I jump into you, you're the dummy. You're the dummy for not understanding because I know one group of brilliance on the other side that don't get these tricks.
Starting point is 00:42:04 Never heard none of the real defensive players was making a list calling Shay a foul baiter. It's the nickers like me who don't play defense. Man, I got two early fouls. Now I can't score. That's who's complaining. The guys who are getting, who is not studying the game, studying the film knowing, okay, when he goes left,
Starting point is 00:42:25 he's going to push off. And then when I push off and he lets go and I try to get back into it, he's going to flop. So if he push off, release. Right? There's things that you. see what he's doing, but because you don't study the game like that, the Kauai studied the game, right?
Starting point is 00:42:42 The young boys over in Toronto, Barneson, they study the game, they know the tricks that he does. So it's like you're really just using padding your stats on hustle plays. Oh, you get too many rebounds and padding stats. Motherfucker, that's nine of us can do it. It's a hustle play. That's a hook. Rebound is hustling. You got a hustle.
Starting point is 00:43:05 So it's just, I just don't. like the things that they do to discredit, just the greatness of these guys, instead of just saying, hey, man, they just on other levels. But the whole point, right? You'll score. The whole point, you'll score too. Y'all don't want to be
Starting point is 00:43:20 touched. Don't fucking touch me. I hate that shit. So if you're smart enough and basketball is entertainment, you know, because I play defense, I was physical on defense, and I get mad when the referee calls them bullshit
Starting point is 00:43:36 file, but I filed him. You know what I mean? Like, they sold it. Yeah. You just saw it too, man. Yeah. It's really like an intellectual thing with Shea, and people don't give them enough credit for being smarter than everybody. Man, if you're going to stand there and file me, right, or put your hand on my chest when I, no shooter wants to be touched.
Starting point is 00:44:02 And so if he knows how to get that foul, like Reggie Miller, you should know how to get. No, you ass, that's a whole part of the game. Now you got to come to the game thinking, man, he's going to fly. He going to do this. Man, I just don't want you to touch me so I can get a clean look. Yeah. Don't touch me. If you touch me, I'm like, you know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:44:23 I'm like, I'm going to exaggerate. But the whole goal is to draw files so you get the fuck away from me. So I get some space as a score to be able to do what I want to do. And then on top of that, when I watch some. this kid, he plays defense. Yeah. He played defense. He's a playmaker, right?
Starting point is 00:44:44 And on top of that, at the end of the game, he is the most dangerous person because you're scared to follow him. And nobody can guard him. So it's not too many guards in this league that got that kind of, Dalian Bronson is another one. Haliburton is another
Starting point is 00:45:00 one, right? So when you, you know, Steph, right? You know, obviously Steph and now the guys that are older, but in this new generation, like, I don't see that from Anthony Edwards. Anthony Edwards, get to MVP, he got to develop what the fuck Shay is doing. It's hard for Ant Man. He's too athletic. Yeah, that's not an athletic guy that does that.
Starting point is 00:45:23 Most athletic people don't... He does not... She knows how to draw files. Ant, don't know how to draw files. That's because, Shane not going to the hole. You don't have to go to the hole or dunk. He just got to know how to... It's to be four.
Starting point is 00:45:36 Yeah, it's a setup. You know, like, there's, there's, there's, when you're talking about just turning from 28 to 32, it's on fritos, it's not more baskets. Yeah, right? So with someone like Ant Man, being more talented, you got that. Yeah. Now, understanding the rules, how the game is played. So if I'm aunt, I know this. My skill level, what I do, you can't guard.
Starting point is 00:46:05 me naturally. You're going to always have to foul me. You're going to always have to do something. What I'm going to do is I'm never going to let you hit me without me benefiting. Yes. So I'm going to come down throw Rudy, try to get a foul. You know, we're going to give Julius. Come on, get some of them files. So once
Starting point is 00:46:23 we get in the penalty, now that's 10 points. Easy team. I'm not even looking to score no more. I'm just coming in a running over. They're just taking his files in a way and get his fouls will be totally different. But it would be more. in a style like Kobe and Joe and pump fake
Starting point is 00:46:37 get you in the air. It don't matter. No matter. You got to get fouls. You got to get to the lawn. I think about it. We know Kobe's going to pull up. Pump fake. He's going to pump fake. Pump fake, pivot, pump fake. What is he doing? He knows you're not disciplined enough
Starting point is 00:46:53 not to jump. He know you're going to jump. At some point. I'm going to shoot it because I'm Kobe. I'm just that motherfucker. Sam Kassel. You should do that shit, Doc. I'm still going to shoot it. Why you don't? And he knew he would come off a pick and roll and he would dribble hard as shit to the baseline, and the center would close out,
Starting point is 00:47:09 and he'd go, ooh, got it. And he'd just wait for him to hit, go to the line, boom. And he knew how to do that shit in the clutch. That is an art and the science. That's what I'm saying. Okay, time and score. Like, how many times do you think, like, damn, we need a three or who we're going to for a bucket?
Starting point is 00:47:25 That person, like a shea, oh, I don't even know how to go. Oh, okay, Josiah out here. Hop on a dime while you run off the train. I was just running to him. Running to me. You're going to stop on a die. You're going to hit me up.
Starting point is 00:47:37 That's what I'm going to get him off. It needs to go do shit like that in order to like to get it. If he come off, he's not, he's thinking attack. He got to, I think he got a, he got to be, he got to strategically think of the game and be able to break the game down. So it's a result in a win. For sure. He's going to get it. Like, look at say, he's going to get his stats.
Starting point is 00:48:00 But at the end of every game, when I watched last year, the way he took all. over and the way he just started boop, boop, and that's what makes people mad. And now all you said, he's getting all the attention the last two, three minutes in the game. That's what I'm saying. They didn't do that with the spurs. They let some of the spurs get away with a lot of the files.
Starting point is 00:48:20 Yeah, but you got to, like, just because of the hateful shade drawn files. But when we're talking about, like, really, like breaking the game down to his finest, you have to know everything that's going on. And there's sometimes where Ant Man wants buckets. Like he wants the bucket. That's what I'm saying.
Starting point is 00:48:35 The Brunson and it, all buckets aren't buckets, right? Like if I got a layup right here, guaranteed two, and I see somebody coming, and this is a great defender, and I can get a foul on him where he has to sit in the fourth quarter. Fuck this two points. Yeah. I'm going to come get it. I'm going to slow down so he can catch me to run into him. Why slow down when I could go up and I could go up higher than most people?
Starting point is 00:49:01 Because he's going to, what I'm saying, he's going to foul me. And this is his fifth foul. Now we're in the third quarter. He has to sit the rest of the fourth quarter. That is more important than my two points. Me taking your man. That is more important than my two points. No, what he did to John Collison is more important than that man following out to me.
Starting point is 00:49:21 Remember John when he jumped over here? You getting put in the rim like that is more important. No, it's not. No. Shit. There's a nobody. It's a nobody. He ain't going to jump in a moment.
Starting point is 00:49:30 Like Wimby, if you got four foul on Wimby. He's going to jump to anybody. He wasn't going to block. That don't matter. If you got four fouls on Wimby and they got him in the end of the third. And be like, oh, when I got a clear lane. Think about what I'm saying. Brunton has to stop because he's here big and he can't jump.
Starting point is 00:49:46 Listen to what I'm saying. And no, he could take this guy. This is the difference between the two when we're talking about learning how to, learning how to manipulate the game. Wimby has four fouls. There's two minutes left in the game, right? I go. I see Wimby tracking.
Starting point is 00:50:02 And I can hit a quick little jumper. Get two points. I know if I get this foul on him, it's his fifth foul. Yeah. Meaning two minutes left. He has to leave. He has to lead the way, hold on. He has to leave the game right now, right?
Starting point is 00:50:19 He has to leave the game right now. And that means from the 12-minute mark, they're not going to put him back in until at least the five or six minutes, safely. And then when he get back in, the first three-four plays, I'm tracking him to get him out the game. And once you pick up the five, he got to do this. It sounds good.
Starting point is 00:50:40 So now it's like I sacrifice two points to get an extra six to eight points because I don't back to a primary defender into a situation where he can't be as aggressive and do things because he want to stay in the game. Or if you got to go out the game, I sacrifice two to get six to eight. That's what like a smart score or somebody who's trying to like win the end of the basketball game. And that's why I like Shay. I mean, back to the subject. Yeah, it's like only certain people know how to do.
Starting point is 00:51:09 Luca know how to do that. Like, there's only certain people that know how to just fuck the game up and make it work to their favor, dude. It's crazy. But people don't even look at it. Like, why is he flopping right there? Because that person now has to sit. He just got a foul that he didn't supposed to get.
Starting point is 00:51:25 And I don't want him guarding me no more. Yep. Sit your ass down for the next eight minutes while I go off. And that's the game. Like, that's the game. Like, I asked Dane. I said, Dane, man, why you shoot, why you shoot your first shot, like 35 feet?
Starting point is 00:51:42 He said, I want to set the three-point line back there. And I was like, why? He said, if I start the game off, and I go right before the three-point line, and I shoot it, I just established. That I would shoot that. I would shoot that muffled. So now they have to guard me there.
Starting point is 00:51:59 Once they guard me there, where I'm setting a pick right there. Now, from that pick to the big man, easy word. I get the versus coming to the three point line. He said it right there. I got no wiggle room. So he comes all the way to this spot. Now I get the run at the big man.
Starting point is 00:52:15 If he backs up, I got a regular three. If he comes up, go by him. And I'm like, ah. So then when I started watching him, he takes that first shot and what's his last shot against Paul George? It's like, oh, I'm just going to sit here. You think I'm about to drive, and I'm just going to raise. That's different. It's like a heat check.
Starting point is 00:52:34 They play a check. When you're getting to the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the stage, it's all mental. Yeah. Like, it's all, it's all mental. Yeah, I might score less, but I'm affecting the game way more. And if you don't study the game, it's just going to become worse for you. If you don't study what I'm doing to you, it's just going to become worse.
Starting point is 00:52:56 That's why Joker, that's why these dudes, like, it's such a big difference in, like, the, the top top guys from like the next version of superstars to the like there's a big there's a big difference between to me jay and donovan mitchell big difference hey the talent and the ability is there is just there's a big difference i get it y'all don't never been athletic well you've been kind of athletic you was athletic but y'all never jumped in your life you never jumped in your life i get it no i watched michael jordan thank you yes yes yes yes athletic when he was you know yeah yeah yeah yeah he was you know Yeah, yeah, I get it. I watched him get two free throws being athletic.
Starting point is 00:53:37 Yeah, athletic. So I know the difference between the athletic guy, learn how to get five. There's a bunch of athletic motherfuckers in the top five. All these fake drawing files, if you get the same amount of points, it's all right. I get it. I get it.
Starting point is 00:53:51 I'm not about to be a low-ass shay that's going to stop, and I got a wide open lane like Jordan or somebody. Yes, you can't. Why would I stop it if I know I could take this, man? Whimmy is not getting filed out I didn't see Wemby filed out one time this year Don't use that fucking example to try to be smart Wimmy don't get fouled out
Starting point is 00:54:08 You know what I see Wimby coming his way He's going to get fouled out one time against Brompson Shay didn't foul the motherfucker out one game They lost in seven That's stop Because they shot you It sound good Because the person who's supposed to get the foul on them
Starting point is 00:54:21 The person who's supposed to get the foul on them Now we switch the foul Now we switch the foul That's person who's supposed to get the foul Don't want to shoot the ball Now we switch the foul Chesa Mosa running the whim and trying to dunk
Starting point is 00:54:33 and go knock out two foul. Well, I have to say the Joker and that smart shit in the first round. What happened to the Joker and that's more shit in the first round? That punk, when he got punked, that smart shit without the wind. You talking about a guy who lived at the Frito line, who understand fouling, who let two guys run the plays. Once they ran the plays, one four flats coming because I know you can't touch me. You pick me up full court.
Starting point is 00:54:54 I'm going to do this, and then you're going to file me. I'm walking my ass up there. I'm the one as an A, a rep. I'm about to see the street. He's about to jump. You're telling an athletic guy to play small. I'm telling an athletic guy. You could use it.
Starting point is 00:55:05 It's okay to have you. I'm telling an athletic guy, you don't have to jump and be athletic all the time if you can get your free throws on the ground. You think Brunson is doing what Brunson do. He knows you guys stupid like a motherfucker. It'd be different. You have to learn that shit because you small.
Starting point is 00:55:24 Then six, seven, I don't have to learn it. You have to be smarter. That's not smarter. Pure athletic. What was James Hardin's vertical? Coming into the NBA, 42 inch vertical. Did it look like he had a 42? James athletic as hell, but he learned how to position itself,
Starting point is 00:55:44 how to establish, how to cut the court, how to, it was all the other things. Fuck a dunk, can I get this, can I get to the line? I love James. And I get to the spot and raise up. Love James. How that do for James? I love him.
Starting point is 00:55:56 How to do for him? How to get to the line? I need to get to the line. get fouls, man. Like, you, you rely. How that smart shit do for? You jump. What that smart shit do for Jay?
Starting point is 00:56:06 I can tell you right now. I can tell you right now. I never, I would never foul out again. Who was smarter? What I'm saying? So you're going to run into somebody smarter? I would never have,
Starting point is 00:56:13 I would never file out against you because I know you're a jump shooter. You're going to jump shooter. So I know I would never, I can guard you because I'm never going to foul out because you're never going to put me in a situation because you're going to be athletic. You're going to try to shoot over me every time. I never have to work my father. You may kill. You may kill, but you let him off the hook.
Starting point is 00:56:31 He don't play no defense. So you're not even forcing me to play defense because you're just going to throw him off the hook. He's going to come to the spot. He's right over him anyway. I'm going to just be up. So he don't care because he's scoring two. You got to open up. So you're not putting me, you're not putting no pressure on me to get out of the game.
Starting point is 00:56:50 Me, I'm going to attack you. I'm going to try to get you. Hell no. Okay, then. So what the fuck is you talking about? Who do I have to play? Great. Only time I got in foul trouble is here.
Starting point is 00:56:59 You're going to open up and let me go by. What is, where are you going to put me in the post? He's going to try to post me up and try to give me in the foul trouble. And my whole thing with him is I'm trying to get him in fire trouble. Get them in the fuck out of the game. So he don't put me in the post. I don't want to be in the polls, so I'm going to put him in the house. But he does her.
Starting point is 00:57:15 But that's what is this. I will go to the post. You're going to put me in the post to do what? You're not going to file me. You're going to fade. He's going to try to play grunt work with me to get me out. He's going to try to force the file. I'm going to try to pump fag.
Starting point is 00:57:28 I'm going to try to force a foul. You're at the same height. But what I'm saying is you're going to try to force a top. You can't even get to my hand. You want to reach up. You're not putting the hand up. Now, if you have 30 and no free throws, right, then at the end of the game, you've got to make that shot
Starting point is 00:57:44 because he's not going to file you. Right? You're not going to get filed. You're not going to be able to stop the game. If you're down six, it's a minute and a half, and you need the clock to stop so you can get two freebies. So now you plan the time and the numbers game,
Starting point is 00:58:01 you ain't going to do that. So if you miss, you can have 35 and be killing him. If you miss. But the reason I go to that post because I know what makes it on him. But look, if you miss and you don't get to the line as the primary guy. I'm going to get an easy shot.
Starting point is 00:58:18 Everything is fucked. Like, nobody, you're not going to win because you're not, it's still like you score, but you ain't putting no pressure on the defense. You ain't slowed the game down. You don't have, you don't necessarily have the control. Even playing, like, watch Brunson and watch, like, when the Knicks come from beyond, he. Oh, wow.
Starting point is 00:58:40 Oh, we down 13. Let me get to the line. Oh, we down. Hey, let me get to the line. Like, that's how really elite score. That's going back to Chet. Chet don't, he's not a score. So he don't know, damn, dog, I only got two shots.
Starting point is 00:58:54 let me go get 10 free throws. Right? You're a score, but you a jump shooting score, right? You're not an attacker. See somebody 6, 7, do that Chris Paul shit like y'all talking about, though? It isn't Chris Paul. It is. I'm not saying it's hard to get down.
Starting point is 00:59:10 I know. It's understand your advantage. We all work on that coming off screen, stopping shit. We do that. I understand your advantage. That's what it is. It's understanding your thing. He's perfected.
Starting point is 00:59:19 The reason Luke can average 30 and also, Reeves average 20-something and LeBron's score is because there's two people over there sitting at the free throw line the whole game. Which means if they're at the free throw line, that's two or one, but the clock stop. Yep. Right. Now, if Austin Reeves is getting foul, that's why I said it made it easy on LeBron to just sit there because he don't have to get hit.
Starting point is 00:59:43 Yep. He don't have to take no hits at all because Austin Reeve and Luke are taking all the hits. So it makes it easier and it puts more possessions in the game. when you got a guy who can soak up fouls and they're getting fouled a lot think about how many more points inside of this game because clock stopped
Starting point is 01:00:03 and it just ruined the game dude somebody like stackhouse used to do that he used to get files so much and then he'd be like damn dude this dude at the line the whole time you can't get no motion going back the other way if you file in every time now your big man is out
Starting point is 01:00:19 now you got to bring in a lesser big dude now he's filing You're like, shit, man. Can we just speed up the game so we can... No. I think you got to have the right balance. Yeah, this guy is messing up the game. He had the right balance.
Starting point is 01:00:32 Let's keep this thing moving. It's time to try to finesse some bread on Polly Market. This is put that on something. Leave my spectacles alone. Leave my spectacles. Yeah, I lost my vision messing with you. So we'll give you some trades on the Polymarket app. You got to pick aside and put that on something.
Starting point is 01:00:48 So we talked about SGA and the Thunder. Held down the top spot in the West for three straight seasons. But let's take a look at Polly Market right now and what they got going on. So Thunder 64 and 18 with Jalen Williams missing nearly 50 games. But just two games ahead of the eventual Western Conference Champion. Spurs. Right now, the Spurs are the favorites to take the West again with 36% of traders rocking with them. But the Thunder are right behind them at 35%.
Starting point is 01:01:12 Let's take it to the couch. Swaggy, let's go to you first. Who will be the Western Conference Champion this season? Minnesota. Minnesota. Minnesota! All right. I think they're about eight.
Starting point is 01:01:22 on Polymarket right now. So you're going to... What was Spurs last year coming in? They weren't... They were not. All right, then. All right. All right.
Starting point is 01:01:32 Let's shift over to you. Gilbert J. Arenas. Who's winning the Western Conference Championship? That's a tough one. I just like Edman. That's a lot. I'm going to give it to...
Starting point is 01:01:47 Who is going to be the hungriest to be... I'm going to say Spurs. Yeah, about I say the Spurs. I'm going to say... I'm going to say... I'm gonna say Spurs. You know, O KC's been up there, and injuries kind of held them down.
Starting point is 01:02:01 I don't see them trying to chase it again. Spurs. I'm gonna go Spurs. You're going Spurs? Go back to their second straight finals. No, no, no, you said just. The Western Conference Champion. Oh, shit, champion?
Starting point is 01:02:13 Oh, who's coming out of the West. Oh, champion. That's different. I'm going, I'm going Timberwolves. I'm going Timberwolves. I think Aunt Man is by doing the damn thing. Let's go, get him. You finally on my life.
Starting point is 01:02:26 Dicker just drop some new shoes. Give me some smoke. He just drops some new shoes and he's about his business. All right, let's go to this side, BD. Westler Conference Champs. Yeah. Denver don't care about winning nothing. So we just, they don't care about, you know, like home court advantage.
Starting point is 01:02:43 I don't think they don't do well with home court advantage. So I don't think just being the number one seed. I'm trying to think who's fighting for that number one. You got O KC in San Antonio. Obviously, Minnesota, I think they make a lead. think it's okayc I think the spurs have some finals fatigue
Starting point is 01:03:01 I do think the spurs is still beatable keeping up you know like they they got good really good towards the end of the year and their youth
Starting point is 01:03:11 took over at towards end of the year I don't think that they get off to a great enough start but I think okay C with J. Dub
Starting point is 01:03:19 okay so we got two votes for the Y Amber Wolves with Amman Lamello but I do want to see Lamello get to the A. Lamello's my favorite player, man. Josh,
Starting point is 01:03:30 I'll shift over to you. So, this is why I like talking to your NBA players, right? Because y'all was playing the whole time. So the knowledge I got, I got from watching while y'all was practicing, you know, having your fun, having your kids and stuff
Starting point is 01:03:46 like that, I really watched this shit. So I just watched all three of y'all go either OKC or the Spurs for the Dynasty talk. Was that the second question? Yeah. Now y'all going with my Minnesota Timberwolves pick, all three y'all? We don't got no diversity in this couch.
Starting point is 01:04:02 I had Minnesota from the start. I said OKC. He said OKC? Yeah. You said I kind of want to see Lamelo. I said La Mello is my favorite player. Everybody is, you know what I'm going to twiglin the two or a man. In October?
Starting point is 01:04:17 Yeah, I don't fucking. The Lakers. The Lakers. What's the season stars? Right now, when the season starts, I get to be delusional. Oh, so right now. Right now, I'm gonna finish it and go with Minnesota. Okay.
Starting point is 01:04:31 So we got... Wait, wait, wait, you did all that just to say the same shit we didn't say. Because he said it. Because I said the same shit two subjects ago. Yeah, he said it. Multiple subjects to go. That is true. We have the text.
Starting point is 01:04:40 Just give yourself credit. Just give you some credit. You know. So that was put that on something presented by Polymarket. Download the Polymarket app. Use Code Arena to get $50,000 bonus funds. When you deposit just 10 bucks, make your next move, your best move, and join the revolution. Polymarket, no limits, no house.
Starting point is 01:04:56 Instant cashouts the most accurate sports odds and forecast in the world. So we got to talk about one last subject before we move on to Mosey fans. I need your expert opinions on this situation. So Greg Popovich, one of the greatest coaches in NBA history, but now he might also hold the distinction as one of the greatest dirty macars as well. So according to the report from TMZ, Popovich recently married the ex-wife of his former long-time assistant, Mike Boodenhozer. Budenhozer spent 17 years as an assistant under Pop,
Starting point is 01:05:25 winning four chips with the Spurs before elevating to the head coaching ranks where he won a chip with the bucks in 2021. So Boonehouser and his ex-main-boo divorced back in 2016
Starting point is 01:05:36 had four kids together. Her and Pop were seen attending Spurs games last season. Now the couple have made it official. Gil, I heard you smack your lips. We will start with you first. What are your thoughts on Greg Popovich?
Starting point is 01:05:47 Mary Mike Boonehozer X-Y. I'm older than like to talk to me. You know what I mean? Like, you know what is 70? I think you said dirty Macon. I'm thinking you, I took it. Oh, he had it back then too.
Starting point is 01:06:00 It's an ex. You, y'all already done. What's the statue? That's why it was done. Like, she's probably thinking me because of the, the, dude, we want four tips together. That's why she's, I was giving you scouting report. That's the reason. That's why she's thinking me.
Starting point is 01:06:11 Why is it Popfall? I know. I'm old. It could be her. It's like, hey, man, he's going to Popovich. He older. I'm a younger woman. He's sitting down.
Starting point is 01:06:21 He's sitting there. I heard him. He don't know where he is. I'm old. So let me go and get on that. All right. Why is it pop, pop, pop, pop. You know, I ain't about it.
Starting point is 01:06:29 Like, she already took her. She already took his money. Already took the assistant money. That's assistant money. But he got head coaching bro. I was the head coaching bread. He got head coaching bread. It wasn't when I was with him.
Starting point is 01:06:40 Not bull. Wasn't when I was with him? No. I'm already getting child support from them for. I want the big boss money. I want the big boss of money. I'm just saying. You got to think about this.
Starting point is 01:06:56 That's not fool. The Lunger was already hair coaching at the time they divorced he was with the Atlanta Hawks at that point. What year? They divorced 2016. He was with the Hawks from 2013 to 2018. And I took half of that, right?
Starting point is 01:07:08 Yeah, now I'm about to make this. I'm about to make this. He's about to milk this. There got to be some type of roof. You never know, man. Like, you honestly, you never know. Like, people can meet people later in life and be a little older, a little different.
Starting point is 01:07:21 They lives on different. Objectories. Obviously she divorced. He's single. But it shouldn't always be on like pop. She could have been pursuing pop. Like, you know, as players and players, you know, everybody want to be taken care of. At 75, bro. How old is pop? 70 or 80? Maybe she came with the package. He's like, I'm going to look out for you, take care of you. I'm like, man, I got to rock with her. It's been. And you're in the house at 80 by yourself all. Seventy-seven years old, Swagie. Yeah. We can't be mad at Popper, man.
Starting point is 01:07:55 We can't be, I mean. Who knows her can, though? No, he can't? You know he can't? You didn't want it either? You didn't want to? Still. It's not, it's a familiar face.
Starting point is 01:08:04 I'm saying, I need that. Hey, Pop. It's a familiar face at my age. Man, I like that outfit. I don't wear it no more. But if you come in my closet, you know what I mean? Yeah. I mean, like, man, what's in this vintage shit
Starting point is 01:08:15 and start putting it on? And now you're going outside. But is it in your closet still? Is it in your closet? It's in the stores? No, no, no, you put it back on the rack. You put it, you send it back to the rack. You send it back to the assignment.
Starting point is 01:08:28 Yeah, I went to Marshals. It's on sale. No, but you've been tracking me the whole time. Yeah, because it was outfit. You're like, yo, you should put that on sale. He was like, you know what? Then you go ahead and send it to the marshes. Here's my receipt.
Starting point is 01:08:40 So on Father's Day, does she get him a gift with the booting house account? Like, the money that she got from that divorce? Like, here, let's go on vacation. That's why she says, it's just a nasty, dirty thing. Is Coach Bob Dirty Mac inore has enough time passed for Boonehosa ex-like to be claimed? Was he dirty back? He's just old and like the time. He's just old and like the time.
Starting point is 01:09:02 Ten years ago. Ten years is not a long time, Gil. That's not a long time, Gil. That's not a long time. I can tell you, listen, listen, let's just be honest. LeBron was defeating the warrior. He's going to look at him from the woman's side. If Boonehoza is mad, I'm pretty sure his wife is like, whoa, or his girlfriend is that way, why you care about your ex?
Starting point is 01:09:20 Why you care about your ex? Why you give a fuck about her? I don't care about my ass. I thought you got rid of her. I care about it. Why you get it? You should be happy. Don't think about that.
Starting point is 01:09:29 Because there are- You all been in that way. You should care about your ass. Because there's a reason why I divorced her. Yes. Right? And now if you are my homie, right? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:09:41 Then either I got to tell you what happened or I got to watch you be like, oh, is you waiting for me to, who, what, what, what? For you to jump on it. Well, what if everybody now... Baby, let me ask my baby. If I came in here and my ex dated my friend, Nick, right? Why you thought me in this? I'm just saying.
Starting point is 01:10:04 I'm just saying, we're friends. We did this before. I was mad at you back in the day, remember? What I'm saying is if my ex was dating him and I got mad, would you be mad at me for being mad? Fuck they feelings. It's your feelings, motherfucker. But if I show my feelings to my...
Starting point is 01:10:19 Of course, you're going to be mad at you, if anything, you like some ads. You're going to be hurt, right? You're going to be hurt. I like everything. You're going to feel some type of way. You like everything you have. Unless you keep in a pee. What I'm saying is if you see me get emotional, if you see me get emotional about somebody that I did it 10 years ago, isn't that a problem?
Starting point is 01:10:39 You have every right to be. Yes. You have every right to be upset. Am I friend? Yeah, absolutely. Because I'm your dog. If there was an award ceremony and Pop getting his award, Buddha, Hoza was part of the team, I can't come because I don't want to be. can't come because I don't want to see Miss
Starting point is 01:10:53 New Popovich and your name used to be Budenhosa? There will be a reunion at some point. These hoesies. What you're holding on to? Man, we don't know what they situation is. We're just speaking in hypotheticals. They can all be cool. Merely reported to know. They can all be cool. What you're holding on to?
Starting point is 01:11:10 I thought it was going to be some real like, damn pop was dirty black in and then whoop. It is. They ain't too here. They might have played at the thing. He probably is a year basketball two years ago for some. Now he's getting married two years later, that.
Starting point is 01:11:23 If you care about your ex, something's wrong with you. Okay, it's 10 years. If you care about your ex, you got a heart and you got emotion. And you got feelings. It don't matter. I mean, not like, oh, I want to be with her, but like, you're going to have something. You won't get mad if the person you don't know. If you don't know them, you ain't tripping.
Starting point is 01:11:43 But if you know them, you got to trip a little bit. If you date my ex and I came in here with it right there and you didn't right there. And she laughed at all my jokes. I'm like, ha, ha, my... I got to be your support, niggas, because I know why I'm divorced. So you... I got to play.
Starting point is 01:12:00 No, no, no, no, no. I'm going to be his support because he's going to go through what I went to. Oh, yeah, for sure. No, no. That's what I said. You got to tell her. I got to...
Starting point is 01:12:10 Hey, man, look. Hey, no, you over here on my ex-wife. Let me run into you how... How I miscalculated my divorce. So I say, if you're the homie, I'm going to say, okay. He like, this my ex-white, let me run through. Woo, woo, whoa.
Starting point is 01:12:24 And then, boom, if you say, oh, man, it's not like that over here. You're gonna go through the same shit I go through. He's gonna be like, hey, man, look. He's not his friend. Yeah, that's fair. That's the hard, our girl. Then you're not his friend, man. That's kind of sick.
Starting point is 01:12:41 That is not. That's sick. I blame Tim Duncan, man. What did he do? What? One-in-ass jump hooks and stuff like that. Anything that happened? All right, maybe I'm just.
Starting point is 01:12:50 All right. Well, the Spurs is fucked up here. They've been taking each other girls since beginning. What? Ain't shit else off of the new? They ain't nothing else. It's a small team. It's a small team.
Starting point is 01:13:00 It's a small team. They're doing this for years. They be on the same thing. They be on the plane with each other and everything. All right. Just needed to get through your opinion on the subject. The internet was running rampant once that news broke. So not dirty mac.

Starting point is 01:14:08 than the one we grew up in. I'm Dr. Joy, and this is therapy for black girls. We spend real time on it in our surviving middle school run, bringing in a child psychologist and a psychiatrist who's raising two black girls of his own to talk about what's really going on
Starting point is 01:14:22 with our kids right now. So it's literally physiological and neurological and psychological chaos happening all of the same time. We got into group chats and gaming, friendships and bullying, and how to tell the difference between healthy monitoring and the kind of surveillance that erodes trust. There's belonging.
Starting point is 01:14:40 You could think of belonging as, I can be myself and I can still be accepted. And then there's fitting in. Spitting in says, I have to change who I am in order to avoid rejection. Then we turn the conversation toward the fathers, sitting down with therapist Keer Gaines on Black Fatherhood and what it means to raise a daughter through this stage. You don't have on shorts, so you can't do flips, you have on the dressy up across your legs. That's the range of this run, from screen time to identity to the father's doing the work at home.
Starting point is 01:15:07 You have to get off her device. But the reality is there's a lot of life out there that we don't want you as your adults in their life to miss out on. I also caught up with WAL-2-67 for a conversation that covered his story, his perspective, and plenty more. I don't even call it cheat day. That's a life day.
Starting point is 01:16:03 I'm not doing nothing. Don't try to be slick and just go Sunday. Go Wednesday. This is what you do. Sleep later. Make a reservation for the rest of a while later. Just chill. Listen to the music you want to listen to.

Starting point is 01:18:02 With rapper, actor, David Diggs. The jump off for me was Hamilton and it was the most popular thing in a very long time. But it was still, for me, it was me and my friends making something dumb. Bruce Lee's daughter and Brandon Lee's sister, Shannon Lee. Back to your initial point of stewarding my father's legacy and giving my energy to that. you're lending your life to stewarding somebody else's life. Listen to Who's With Me with
Starting point is 01:18:31 with Debbie Kumabelle on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. So mostly fans is back. We got a special new future. Starting point is 01:19:05 Shout out to the super chat. Shout out for donating bread to this show to keep the lights on. My eyes and my vision a little blurry, so I got to put the glass on so I can see the question. Did you have the last? You got a lot of . I told you, you messed with my vision. I was stressed last year dealing with a lot of time. He wasn't going to say.
Starting point is 01:19:20 He didn't have glasses. He didn't know. He didn't have New York Knicks up last. You should have just slept my idea. I was asking you, why you keep going to work, my nigga? Sweaty. Like, why do you keep going there? Not coach you to the full extent of my abilities
Starting point is 01:19:35 and literally you don't want to chip though. But nonetheless, all right, I'm going to read some super chats for you. We've got one from Golden Boy NBA. Put $20 in the offering plate. He said, just because we got one from Drew Gotti Fitness, who's better Penny or Lamello? Quickly, gentlemen, who's better Penny or Lamello? Drew Gotti Fitness wants to know.
Starting point is 01:19:54 I'm a Penny fan. I'm a Pony Hardaway, Doug. Yeah, Penny Hardaway, one of the coldest ever. Lamello will be up there when his career is over. LaMello, LaFrance, both. But y'all got Penny right now. Hardaway fan. We got a question from Svavi.
Starting point is 01:20:08 He said, My daughter, no, man, no name is Penny. That's how cold that nigga was. Who should be number one option, Jalen Brown or Tyrese Maxie? They both number one options. Tyrese, Tyree's Matt.
Starting point is 01:20:22 I know this. Whenever niggas say one. I know what that means. Second. It's a and B. Second. There's an A there to B. You can keep the one motherfucker, but it's still B.
Starting point is 01:20:36 I'm going to go maxi because, I mean, speed, shooting, like, he can get a shot easier. All right. So we got another comment from Saturday Night Beaters. Again, I didn't make these things up. I just read them. BD, top 100 easily. Just wanted to give you some love. Saturday Night Beaters.
Starting point is 01:20:53 I appreciate that. Go to board. Go to more NBA. Commented against that. I love this show, L.O.L. He also commented. Slick waited for Kauai conversation. Man came up, $70 million under the table.
Starting point is 01:21:04 No suspension. Then signs two years, $115,000 or something like that. Either him or his agents go to. We gave Kauai and his team their love. We gave him that love. I'm glad they didn't penalize the player. Well, he just, whatever is fine. It was fine.
Starting point is 01:21:19 It was fine. Yeah. That's cool for them re-up. Two-something? Yeah. Total two something? Yeah, tie that off real quick. Half a billy on this?
Starting point is 01:21:29 So we got one from... Damn. Big Red Leeds, $20 in the offer in place that. B.D., I have you. It's one of my goats. Despite the injuries, rate your game amongst the greats. Personally, I have you in my top ten. Love your game.
Starting point is 01:21:39 So how's your... That's five for sure. Lord Barry. They don't remember. Top five in my position for sure. If you ask me. It's still FUCLA, but... You know what I mean?
Starting point is 01:21:48 It's the reason why I... Yeah. We won. Magic. Steph, Isaiah. And then that. everybody else, I'm kind of like, unless you name somebody that everybody else, I just feel like I'm bright on the heels and could have been, you know, they could, you know, I like me.
Starting point is 01:22:08 I think D. Rose could have that argument. D. Rose is up there, too. Gil could have that. Ooh, I was, I was a scorer. He's a score. I had my own position. Yeah, he's a scoring guard. I have my own position.
Starting point is 01:22:17 I'm with a new nigger. I'm with the new. I'm just like myself, man. I'm in the new. I'm in the lane with, like, staff. AI, right, that we got to score. Yeah. Right?
Starting point is 01:22:31 Like, you know, BD had to, like, BD, like, that's that, I'm a score and, but I got to get a ball to the ball to the game. I got to pass a while. Yeah. So I got to keep jumping from one or two. I got to keep jumping from one or two. Never one. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:22:43 I'm like, I'm like, I make sure, like, as the one, I control the orchestra. But I'm not the first option coming down, even though I will shoot it and do what I want But I gotta make sure that we get inside. We got an All-Star Center, McGlure. Helden Campbell was the big homie, rest of the peace. Yeah, my big man's wasn't getting the ball. So we got a comment from, or question. From delivery guy 91 said Christian Brown got paid after averaging 15 points per game on 58, 48, 48, 80,
Starting point is 01:23:13 82 splits. Why is his contract, which is the fifth highest on the team considered overpaid? But I believe Azor Thompson got more averaging 9 on 52, 25, 57. You're even sicker, dude. Both sick. Both sick. Azor, I believe, top three in defensive player the year voted. So have different things going on.
Starting point is 01:23:32 He got ice in the playoffs for the game winner against the New York Knicks. You know that. How are you the defensive player the year? Tell them what happened. Because you know why? Or a defensive player. Like if he don't play no offense. Like somebody like that who you are no factor, you are no factor on the offensive.
Starting point is 01:23:53 it would be hard for me to like justify that because like how are you going to win when you need that position to be 17 to 20 points score? It's just a weird, it's weird to have your shooting guard or small four just purely defense. Defense, that's it. And then my four and five era and then this era, my four and five are also. This era, people ain't really locking up. Like he ain't, you ain't locking up these schools. You ain't locking up a Luca.
Starting point is 01:24:25 You're playing good defense. You're a special assignment guy. But on the other end, you're such a liability, dog. You got to play like a seven-foot center who can only catch and dunk. Like, they don't even give you the ball. That's why it's so weird. That's a lot of them doing it, though. Jane and Daniels, he could be like that.
Starting point is 01:24:47 No, Jane and Danes is good, dog. He is fucking good. He's how to play. He knows how to get busy. That's why it's weird when today's media pretend that the defense of what they're talking about is the same as the people they highlight it. Like when we're talking about like two-way players, the two-way players were number one in offense, top five in defense. They was one in one or one of like, like, like I had a bunch of. Your had all defenders back in the day.
Starting point is 01:25:25 Hakeem Elijah won. The whole next team was a fucking bunch of defenders back in the day. Who called them two-way players, all? Ex-Zabry McDaniels. Who called them two-way players? I'm just saying, they got paid. I'm talking about, no, they didn't. They got paid?
Starting point is 01:25:36 No, they got paid. They got paid. They walked in, taking elbows. Charles Oakley was his number two. It didn't get paid. It didn't get paid. We're talking about when people talked about two-way players. That was designed, the word was designed for
Starting point is 01:25:52 The elite. That's really good here and really good here. Elite and elite. Who called him a two-way player? People call everybody. Now in this. Everybody's a two-way player. Everybody's a two-way player.
Starting point is 01:26:05 Man. He can be hella average. And if he give a good defensive effort and he's not a good defender and he average 17, but he's not a real score. He's a two-way player. Two-way player. I ain't never heard anybody say he's a two-way player. No, I'm just saying two-way player, the word.
Starting point is 01:26:19 He can't foot the way. Two-way player was only made for, Like, I hear three and D guy. That's what I hear. Like, it was, it was Jordan, it was, it was Kareem, it was Hakeem, it was Jim Duncan, Shaquille O'Neal, Kobe Bryant. It was the lead on office. There was one, two, or three in offense, one, two, and three in defense.
Starting point is 01:26:39 Yep. That was it. There was no 17 that I'm the first team. Niggins don't even make the defensive team, but call defensive players. Yep. They was dead. That is crazy. You don't even make no team, but you were locked down?
Starting point is 01:26:51 That's what got out of here. Tommy Allen. Tony Allen played defense. He was a defensive player. He prided himself on being a defensive player. He wasn't trying to score. He could do that. He knew he could get out of pocket.
Starting point is 01:27:02 He could do that. He was a defense player. And he wasn't not getting no goddamn hunting. What the, how much? He getting paid damn there max dollar at that spot. He can pay probably what, top $10 in that position. And you don't score more than 10 points? Well, you better show, you got to do something, Doug.
Starting point is 01:27:20 Because that, that, the. The two-guard position is 17 to damn near 30. And you got none. He just talked about big factors, though. OG. He could be like OG. But do he put points up like OG? Like OG?
Starting point is 01:27:32 You can't be like no OG, OG, shoot what? 40-something from the three, 50 from the field? You ain't OG. Or maybe I don't know. I haven't seen it. Now, the kid in Houston, his brother, his twin. He plays a little bit more offense. But you can actually see the kid and be like,
Starting point is 01:27:50 damn, dude, they need to figure. out how to develop, like, let him play offense, so he'd develop his confidence. But his brothers, you know, just a little bit better offensively with not all the confidence in the world. So Houston got to figure out like, damn, this kid got, they got talent. Out of this world. I like this one. The kid in Houston can be special.
Starting point is 01:28:12 Can you get the twin to get to where the kid in Houston was at 18 and playing defense? It's hard. We'll see. So we got one last question. That's tough. A friend of the program, Geraldini, 93, $20 in the offer, appreciate you, Geraldini. Said, what fringe championship team in history you believe you help win? Said all can answer on this couch.
Starting point is 01:28:35 What fringe? What fringe? What fringe championship team in history do you believe you could help win? Fringe, what's that? Like the team that didn't make it? I mean, we'll use it as... Like if you could play for a team that didn't win the championship. That made it but didn't get over...
Starting point is 01:28:51 But made it. Oh, yeah, yeah. I'm going to take the Lakers when they lost to Detroit. 04? 04 Lakers. We got that. Got it. How about they should have took Houston?
Starting point is 01:29:03 I'm not a Houston fan. I think you could have got a move on. I don't want to... I'm not a Houston fan. I'm a Laker fan. So that's another championship. Then Kobe then got four in a row. You feel me?
Starting point is 01:29:11 But they got four. And then he got six and then he's better than Jordan. I would say... I'm thinking, nika. Think it works. Make him think. I would say Dallas Mavericks But you don't want to play with me with the Lakers?
Starting point is 01:29:26 Nah, fuck you. We can move Derek Fisher and Gary Payton. Think about it. I want to live so far away from you. I would say Maine, Boston, back in when they played the Lakers. How about that? He wasn't living that far away from you.
Starting point is 01:29:39 B.D., how about yourself? Damn, dude, that's tough. San Antonio with Miami beat him. Or, uh, Philadelphia and the Lakers. You'd be on Philly. I'll be on Philly.
Starting point is 01:29:55 Okay. Josh. Did you ask me? Exactly. You know, frankly. You know what? I don't got to answer. So I'm going to take this moment and say something to Byron Scott.
Starting point is 01:30:10 Because you said your man was, your man is Odin. Olden. Yeah, we got respect for all. Yeah, I respect him to him. But he said something about Team Mac where he's like, He's saying. Yo, I never know you had a book called, you know, book for losers. Things, losers.
Starting point is 01:30:27 And then doubled down, like, the next day, like, oh, I wasn't disrespecting him. But, yeah, I don't feel his play is like, you put your work in. There's no ring at the end of that. You put your work in. There's no ring at the end of that. But y'all are nice, though. So that's why I was like, I'm starting to talk this basketball shit. I don't care about.
Starting point is 01:30:46 No way he's saying, oh, you can't go to the NBA, nothing like that. Because there's a whole flock of a... It's only a few of y'all that have been to the NBA. There's more of us that didn't. So stop disrespecting us. Like, we're not watching this shit, betting on it, doing everything that you do as a fan, and not respecting our opinion.
Starting point is 01:31:00 Making predictions. Right. So I just had to say that. And, you know, I'm not disrespecting the Byron Scott's and nothing like that, but I just feel like T-MAC taking a lot of, a lot of heat, and I'm about to start something. I'm going to be watching old games at night. I don't even wish your time.
Starting point is 01:31:16 Why, Ben. He don't even wish your time. Don't win your time. Oh, get it. Oh, gosh. Don't even win your time. We know that. No, no, no.
Starting point is 01:31:21 No, no. I wanted to tell you something, speaking of old games, I did my research yesterday. And Will Chamber had the first Super Team. I wanted to let you know. Of course. Will. Yeah. No, Bill Russell. Bill Russell. He had, no. Bill Russell. It was old Superteens back then. It was all the Superteens. Who went to who got traded to a Superteam. That was mostly fair. Got traded to his Super Team. No. Jerry West. Will come over here.
Starting point is 01:31:51 Because he couldn't beat. Then Agent Baylor come over here. He couldn't beat the Super Bowl. He couldn't beat the Boston Celtics because they had all Hall of Famers. They had the number one. They had the number one and the number two. Hey, man, fuck you. I'm not my part. Before we wrap for the day,
Starting point is 01:32:08 appreciate everybody in the chat. Go ahead and hit that like button for it. Hey, man, hold on. Hold on. Appreciate you. Hey, no, amen. Hold on. Hey, I got practice.
Starting point is 01:32:16 All you role-playing niggas that's getting bossy, hey, man, you y'all got to relax. Most of your championship is from somebody else's hard where I'm just going to point it out. Like, T-Max Ford. We can sound like y'all. If I had my own team, I win a championship. You wouldn't do nothing. If I was, if I was with Shaq, I'll win.
Starting point is 01:32:36 We're not going to do that. If I had a coach back. Stop being disrespectful. There's a real. No, no, we're going to really put some respect on it. We all got the same 24 hours, right? Yep. The same 24.
Starting point is 01:32:51 How was a nigger who didn't work 16 hours on their crap? Talk about I'm a loser. Because you can't be the nigger. I'm averaging 29 a game. You really think I'm going to the summer thinking about losing? I'm practicing my ass off. That's right. The loser is a nigga that's happy to sit on the bitch.
Starting point is 01:33:09 You know what I mean? You happy to sit on the bitch, not get mad up? We know who the winners and the losers are because we play the sport. Yes. You cannot, the hardest thing to do is to win a championship. There's only one champion every year. And you've got all these players. and drafted with potential, with game, super game, good teams, great coaches, bad coaches.
Starting point is 01:33:35 In order to win a championship, if you watch championship teams, that shit is an algorithm that gets fixed, especially for that moment in time and that. So it's hard. So everybody else who lose, you're not a loser, right? We definitely not losers as long as you be one champion. If you put your work in and you played in this league, you definitely need not a loser. You may not win a championship, right? But you have accomplished so many things and you know how to win and you know what winning is.
Starting point is 01:34:06 You know what losing is. The problem is the losers in our league is to your point are the dudes who are co-tailed riders. Thank you. Our co-tail riders. If you ain't a one-of-one, you know what I mean? Not telling you. Say it. You're just a loser that score, though.
Starting point is 01:34:24 Everybody could do that. I'll bust his ass, but when he get on the court, he get more menace to me. I just say the same thing. That's the same shit y'all's talking about. You or you want it. No, it's the same thing. It's opportunity. It's opportunity.
Starting point is 01:34:40 Everybody gets opportunities. Not everybody gets the best opportunity but itself. So you've got to make the best out of opportunity. That's why I say there's no losers, but some people who write coattails, they don't understand. how hard it is to not be on a championship pedigree team and have to lead a team you mean lead a team not yeah you got a lead a team yeah not all teams got championship pedigree
Starting point is 01:35:08 championship DNA there's only four they got a four to five they got a chance everybody else is delusional and you got to bust your ass just to have some goals to be like yo we can upset it right but the people on those teams so what that mean Some of the people on those teams, they get to brag and boast because you're on the team with some cold, cold, colder motherfuckers than the dudes. They got to fight their way to just get into the playoffs. So you get to benefit.
Starting point is 01:35:40 The people that win is colder. It's really like, do you want to play less minutes and fit in and be a piece of a puzzle? Or would you want, with your ability, with who you are, to take the hard road? And the hard roll means you may not win the championship. But as cold as you are, you'll be able to take a team as far as you can. But at the end of your career, you're not a champion. Now, at the end of your career, if you want to go play and support another superstar and do all that and get your ring just to feel what it feels like to be on a championship team.
Starting point is 01:36:17 But you're saying, it's got to be perfect. If you come up short, dude, that mean you're not better than the next person. That mean you're not good enough to win the championship. That means the other person was better. A better team, better organization, better goals. Like, some organizations don't have, like, when you think about it, up until now, right? And I don't know if this is a real stat.
Starting point is 01:36:39 But there's a different champion over the last, what, five years or eight years? Eight years. Before that, it was dynasties. So the Lakers in my era, they're getting four. San Antonio gets another four. San Antonio getting another four. And then somebody else got to go. go get the two. Before that,
Starting point is 01:36:57 you know, Detroit got one, and somebody else got one. South Texas. Detroit and Celtic. That was the only one in our era. We will hit this more in depth. I mean, I'll show tomorrow. Shout out to Odin Paulineese. Shout out to team. Shout out to KD.
Starting point is 01:37:13 Shout out to everybody in the chat. Shout out to everybody on this couch. I took 100,000 shots. Ain't no motherfucker tell her they worked harder than me. This is in another episode. of Gilles Arena presented by Polly Market and powered by Playmaker. Woo-Woo! We will see you tomorrow!
