Gil's Arena - LeBron, Giannis & Wemby's BIG Games FIRE UP Gil's Arena

Episode Date: November 14, 2024

LeBron James, Giannis Antetokounmpo & Victor Wembanyama's HISTORIC Night FIRES UP Gil's Arena as Gilbert Arenas & The Gil's Arena Crew react to both NBA Superstars dropping 50 points on a high octane ...night across the NBA. They open up the show breaking down the best offensive night of Victor Wembanyama's young career as the french phenom joined our very own Mr. B to drop 50 points at the age of 20 and discuss if this big game signals that the San Antonio Spurs superstar is turning a corner offensively. Next, they react to Giannis putting the Milwaukee Bucks on his back by dropping 59 points and carrying his squad to a 2nd straight victory that could be the catalyst that turns around their disastrous season. Finally, not to be outdone by the young superstars in the NBA, LeBron James continues to prove he's the best player in the league as Gil & The Gil's Arena Crew react to King James' 3rd straight triple double and debate if the Los Angeles Lakers can rely on this version of LeBron to carry them all season. Starting point is 00:01:41 The world know you ain't got no license. The police do watch Gil's arena. Oh, everything. For real. They do. I want to let you know you got to pay this ticket, too. Damn! I got a ticket for not having a license. He said, I got to give you something.
Starting point is 00:01:55 I ain't going to take your call, but I got to give you something. So that's all yours. All mine. That really happens. Damn. Damn, brother. Gil's out here Western. Importer in your home? Yeah. Damn. You got brother. Gil was out here wetting it. The importer and your host?
Starting point is 00:02:05 Yeah, yeah. Damn. You got some no pool over there, huh? You got snow pool, huh? Damn, brother. Was this after the show? Gil is now the option. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:15 Tuesday. It say Tuesday, motherfucker. Damn. That's crazy. Wait. Wait. They didn't even do nothing. They just swung me over.
Starting point is 00:02:23 You were here on Monday, Nick. That's Tuesday. Right. That was Tuesday. So the next day. But they't even do nothing. They just pulled me over. You were here on Monday, Nate. That's Tuesday. Right, that was the next day. So the next day, but they was looking for you. Yeah, you know how it was going. So you was going 80 miles an hour. No, no, no, no. In the HO.
Starting point is 00:02:41 What? How are you driving that fast on the street with no light? Man, hey, next cop, lock him up. Lock him up. He needs to be off the streets. Yeah, that's right. Yeah. I need to be off the streets.
Starting point is 00:02:54 Don't do that shit. If they lock Swag, yeah, good thing be on the show. I paid all those. I'm good. My license is in the mail now. Free Swag. Oh, your license is in the mail? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:02 My brother. Good job. My brother. Shout out to Nick. I told him what to do. Oh, you license is in the mail? Yeah, yeah, yeah. My brother. Good job. My brother. Shout out to Nick. I told him what to do. Oh, he told you what to do? Told me what to do, you know?
Starting point is 00:03:11 He told you what to do? Yeah. Told me how to get my license back, and I did it the next day. So. He just go. He was cool like that. I've been hearing Kyle's been doing that lately.
Starting point is 00:03:20 I ain't gonna lie, I mess with the Poles, man. Poles. You know, they usually do it to women if you want to get out of this ticket, but you know. I had to do that too. You know, in the wrong way. A little backseat banding, huh? I had to do that too. Whatever keep you out of jail, gotta do what you gotta do, fam.
Starting point is 00:03:37 Hand of your business, brother. Because your knee looks swollen. And I might have to tap out on this. No, just that knee looks swollen. Whoo, brother have to tap out on this. No, just the knee looks swollen. Like, whoo, brother. This shit's been hurting. Already? Please.
Starting point is 00:03:49 We have a show to do. We have a show to do. I'm just saying. It's been hurting ever since. It took a long time. This is Gil's Arena presented by Underdog. As always, we got the legend Gilbert Arenas here with us. What up?
Starting point is 00:04:01 What up? NBA champion and new license getter, Swaggy P. Nigga is back in here. And WNBA champion of the world, Lexi Brown is back on the couch. Lexi heard a rumor you was on Blue Sky, so, all the people out there give Lexi a follow on Blue Sky. Yep.
Starting point is 00:04:23 Them long ass names all on blue sky. Yep them long ass Username you gotta fix that Joe. Well, I did join on what's that? It's the new Twitter What the new old Twitter the new old called blue sky Tony X no more so X still exists Oh, but if you've noticed X a little too turnt up for my particular liking a little too toxic Oh, toxic also all Trying to go somewhere and make it a happy place Twitter expats. We just want anybody who got morals and moving to blue sky We just want to see Just want to talk to basketball Yeah, we want to we want to block some of y'all. Okay? So I got to get the X, huh?
Starting point is 00:05:06 No, you got to get the X. No, I got to get the X. Full time, get your own X. You are on X, but full time. You love X now. Don't go pull the curtain back. But nonetheless, for all the fans out there, we still got two viewing options. Our traditional version, the vertical mobile version.
Starting point is 00:05:20 Pick whichever one you want to watch. Just make sure you support the show. Here's what's cracking in the arena today yannis dropped a league season high 59 points on the pistons to help the bucks get their second straight win but what do the bucks and the greek freak need to be at their peak and shout out to mr b our very own he was courtside uh giving all the information you know he said darvin ham looking for you Gil up me beef still looking for you, too Darwin whatever I didn't fire Darwin dog yeah
Starting point is 00:05:58 Yannis the NASA everybody looking for you out not the masses can't be looking for me. I'm an advocate of that So when B came through with a career-high 50 points on the Wizards. Is the Spurs big man taking his offensive game to another level? Trying to shake those claims that he is a lunchtime hooper. We will discuss. And LeBron messed around and dropped his third straight triple-double to keep the Lakers undefeated at home. How long can the soon-to-be 40-year-old keep playing at this level? Oh, look at that.
Starting point is 00:06:26 Edie just watching. Blow by. They know what time it is. Lakers, baby. We run the West. But before we get into all that, as always, the show is brought to you by Underdog. Download the app. Use promo code GILL.
Starting point is 00:06:37 Get up to $1,000 in bonus cash, plus a special pick-em. And to help you get your bread right for the weekend, Gil has some picks up in his partner pick pack. Partner pack on underdog. Let's see what we got. So normally you do basketball, Gil, but you are switching it up with some picks for UFC 309 and the Jake Paul, Mike Tyson fight. So you got Jon Jones
Starting point is 00:06:57 higher.5 finishes. He's facing Stipe Majocik, one of my favorite fighters for the heavyweight championship in the main event. Bo Nickel, higher, 1.5 takedowns. He's facing Paul Craig in a middleweight bout. Yes, sir. And, of course, we got the Jake Paul-Mike Tyson fight going down. You got Jake Paul higher, 13.0 minutes of fight time,
Starting point is 00:07:17 fighting Mike Tyson Friday in the main event of tomorrow's boxing card on Netflix. So 13 minutes equals 6.5 rounds. Yes. So you're you're gonna last? Yeah. So you think Mike Tyson's gonna win? I normally go with you. I don't know... How old is Mike Tyson?
Starting point is 00:07:35 50-something. You gotta get a lot faster. Is this real? Like, what is this? What is this? Just listen. This is Jake Paul throwing this one, right? So I don't trust nothing of it, okay?
Starting point is 00:07:46 None of it. I don't trust none of it. And I know if I'm Jake Paul and I've heard sprinkles out there that it's not in Mike Tyson's financial... Interest to whoop his ass? To whoop his ass or knock him down. So they're also using 14-ounce gloves instead of the standard 10-ounce gloves.
Starting point is 00:08:07 You can use 25-ounce gloves, right? If Tyson wants them gone, he's gone. I don't know anything about boxing, so what is... So normally they use 10-ounce gloves, which if you get punched with those, it hurts a lot harder than the 14-ounce gloves. It's a little bit more cushion for the pushing. But it's still tight.
Starting point is 00:08:22 And each round is two minutes instead of the usual three minutes. Damn, nah. Eight rounds instead of the standard 10 to 12 rounds. Oh, so this is all kind of weird. Cowboy Stadium in Texas. Yeah, you know. How much money they finna make?
Starting point is 00:08:33 I watched Roy Jones and rumor was there was stipulations on Tyson that he couldn't aim for the face or punch through. Yeah. So that means when he's punching, he had to snap it. He couldn't land it, right? And there was punches where he just boom, boom, and react. And I'm like, okay, that kind of hurt Roy Jones. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:55 Right? He was like, you can see just him reacting and hitting, it's a natural reaction for Mike. He said it, too. He will mess up Jake Paul on just natural reaction, just like, bah, bah, bah, and then swing. He will knock, too. He will mess up Jake Paul on just natural reaction. Just like, bah, bah, bah, and then swing. He will knock dude out. So he's gonna be going in there just throwing half punches.
Starting point is 00:09:13 You think so? Fuck yeah. Or he could just snap. Would you get in the ring with Jake Paul? For how much money would it take for you to go do something like that? With Jake Paul? Not no more. You saw what happened. Not no more.
Starting point is 00:09:26 With Nate, who was that? Not, not, like, this look, the one that looked like, he looked like he'd been, he'd been, he, yeah, he didn't call a lot of power. He looked cute. Don't even look good. It's not a good one, right? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:37 He was a little scary. Yeah, it's just a big body. Go avenge Nate Robinson's honor, Gil. Go avenge Nate. That would be my younger days. Okay, okay. Yeah, like pre- You could fight Gil Tot, like pre-Gil's Arena days. How much money would it take for you to do that?
Starting point is 00:09:51 Huh? Pre-Gil's Arena, how much money would you go do that for? How much money would they have to offer you for you to consider it? Whatever. $200,000, $300,000, whatever. Yeah, hold on. Let me get my dog. Punch on somebody?
Starting point is 00:10:01 Let me get my dog. We need about $50 million. It depends on who it is, right? You think they paid these guys to like not beat them Yeah, so you would not beat them or you would be like I'll take less money if I could actually win Well remember it's easy for someone who's not famous to or and I mean someone's not a boxer to take a dive So you would take a dive? MMA is easy for them because they don't go against their record and this is the highest pay So for someone like Jay Paul, it's easy to say oh I'll fight you and don't go against the record
Starting point is 00:10:28 And this is the biggest payday to kind of lose. So I already got I already got the vision Tyson Yeah, you think he won't let's get Gillis waggy P verse my cousin on this resume But who cares if my Tyson loses? Now we'll carry good I look here and that's why I don I don't, this is a weird one because if Jake Paul lose, he lost to Mike Tyson, so no one cares. Right? I think he should have fought Tyson, Fury again. No, no, no. What's the brother?
Starting point is 00:10:58 The one he lost to. Yeah, Fury. Like a real boxer. Like the Fury kid. Like he was calling him out and he lost to him. He should have rematched him. Right? This is more of a gimmick to me to try to make himself feel like he's, you know, coming.
Starting point is 00:11:12 But if he, listen, I can tell you this. If he actually hit Tyson and knock his ass out, that'd be. Oh my God. He's a hero. We don't want to see Tyson. Nobody want to see Tyson go. Knock it out of his old band. I don't think nobody cares.
Starting point is 00:11:22 I know it's Mike Tyson, but he can't make it out the arena. What I'm saying, listen, if I drop Tyson on this back, brother, when I tell my story, it was Tyson of 19 years old. I don't care who it is. It's Mike Tyson. So we asked the chat, are you riding or fading Gil's partner pack? I'm not messing with that one. 58% said they're fading, Gil.
Starting point is 00:11:43 They do not believe in you. I don't believe in you. See, that's the problem with y'all. Support Gil. They're not riding with me? Y'all ain't shit, man. How did the ones yesterday? Who?
Starting point is 00:11:51 It's two minutes, though. Two-minute round. It's two minutes, not three minutes before. Still, he... No, okay, so... In theory. I'm not saying this is true. Allegedly.
Starting point is 00:12:01 Allegedly. Let's say every round Tyson lasts, let's just say he gets like a million and a half. Ooh, okay. You don't want to see Tyson. No, what I'm saying is every round he lasts, he gets a bonus. So for him, he wants to last. And if he comes out there and knock him out in 13 seconds, he gets nothing. Do you feel like...
Starting point is 00:12:22 The whole bag goes like... Listen to Joe Rogan. The whole bag goes... The whole bag goes... Listen to Joe Rogan. The whole bag goes to... Jake Paul. Jake Paul. If Tyson knocks him out first round, Tyson gets nothing, Jake Paul gets everything.
Starting point is 00:12:33 I don't know if that's a true thing, but we'll see how the fight starts off. Allegedly. What if he just comes in? If he's sitting there like this... Imagine if he just walked in and knocked him. He's going to be a hero. After he knocks him out, he just walked in and knocked him. He's going to be a hero.
Starting point is 00:12:46 After he knocked him out, he's going to be a hero again. Maybe Mike Tyson will take one for the team. Make Paul stop messing with him. Come on, Mike. Stop playing and everybody's saying he's ugly. We will hope Mike Tyson gets triggered and knock his whole head off. We would want that. But we don't want that.
Starting point is 00:13:00 That was head honest Jake Paul. Jake Paul is entertainment now, man. He is. Like, he's real entertainment now, man. He is. Like, he's real entertainment, so you can't really. But still, say you get in your, like, like if you're playing your son and he starts busting your ass, you be like, all right, it's time to get serious. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:14 Don't do that to me. It's time to get real. And that's just. Let me show you. Let me go. You call timeouts in boxing. That's what I'm saying. You hit him and you see that, oh, shit, timeout, timeout, timeout.
Starting point is 00:13:24 Remember the contract, Mike. Remember the contract might remember the Anybody get embarrassed That's a slap box they used to start You can slap too hard your girl right there Come on in and as always we do mostly fans At the end of every show if you drop a good question in the chat with your underdog username, we use it on the program. $50 bonus to your underdog account.

Can't watch the show live with us on YouTube Monday through Thursday. We've got audio versions available, Apple, Spotify, wherever you get your podcasts. So we're going to get back into this. Nick, you played for the Warriors, became an NBA champion there.
Starting point is 00:14:02 So you know about their big three, you know. Steph, Klay, Draymond, kind of the inner workings, inner dynamics of their mentalities. So yesterday we talked about Steph spoiling Klay's return to the Bay. Curry was emotional, more emotional than usual at the end of the game when he hit the clutch three, running around the court and yelling, you better stay here, you better stay here, likely as a shot to Klay. And Draymond revealed why there may have been a little extra motivation for Steph in that performance.
Starting point is 00:14:30 Selena Ops. Hey, so I put Steph off. He like, yeah. I talked to Klay last night about he was like, because Steph was supposed to speak before the game. He like, yeah, I called Raymond and told him I'm not speaking. I just need to lock in on the game, so I ain't even speaking.
Starting point is 00:14:45 And I talked to Clay about it. Tried to check in on Clay on something else, and Clay ghosted him. So he got pissed. And here we go. Here we go. Clay ghosted Steph. He ain't respond to my text. But Nick, do you think Clay regrets ghosting Steph before the game?
Starting point is 00:15:04 Nah, because I think he... They was really like brothers, so if Steph didn't speak while he was there, I could see he kind of being kind of upset, you know, for the moment. But at the same time, you know, you always want to win. Steph got that extra little motivation he needed. And, yeah. You never want to see tension in the light extra little motivation he needed. Yeah. You never want to see tension in the light-skinned community. Hold on, hold on.
Starting point is 00:15:29 Because you keep calling him an NBA champ, and I'm looking at his stats. Good stats are irrelevant. Contract on the table. Let that man live. You didn't have 10 points the whole goddamn playoffs, brother. $80 in the need for my money. I'm just saying. A the whole goddamn playoffs, brother. $80 in the league, motherfucker. I'm just saying.
Starting point is 00:15:46 There's a lot of zeroes in here, right? A champion is a champion, Gil. Man, zero, zero, zero, zero, zero, zero. Man, you lying. What the hell? I know you crazy. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven. You played seven games in here and have no points, man.
Starting point is 00:16:00 I played every series, motherfucker. And there were seven games you didn't score a bucket. You crazy as hell. You know what? Look at this. Sorry, motherfucker. series, motherfucker. And there were seven games you didn't score a bucket. You crazy as hell. You know, look at this. Sorry, motherfucker. Zero, zero, zero. I can't see without my glasses. Why did y'all put something on your glasses? Zero, zero, zero. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:15 What was that? What was that? Four minutes, two minutes. I don't give a fuck how many minutes you get in there. San Antonio? Brother, you a Sargis a motherfucker, man. I didn't play. This is your life. This had to be your life. You talking about San Antonio. I didn't play San Antonio be You say you just played every series Nick nonetheless game I played Rockets I play Rockets. I'm a guy just say he was on a trail. I was 12 with the mr. Rockies
Starting point is 00:16:34 The NBA fuck you have a stroke you didn't score 10 You didn't score serious. You didn't score 10 points in one game. So you can't average 12. You crazy as hell. Look at the Rockets. You're looking at San Antonio City. I don't give a... This is all you. Nine was the most you scored. They too smart. Nine, but Rockets, you scored nine, six, five...
Starting point is 00:16:56 Kawhi Leonard guarding me and shit. I didn't like that. Hold on, hold on. You scored nine, six, five, two, zero. Look at the game. I'm looking at the game. Let me look at it. Let me show you, man. Let me show you. No, no, I'm5-2-0. Look at the game. I'm looking at the game. Let me look at it. Let me show you, man.
Starting point is 00:17:07 Let me show you. No, no, I'm going to show your ass. 2-0-5. And I hit the three. I don't know how. And I hit the three with me. It was down like that in a clutch moment. It was down game seven.
Starting point is 00:17:17 You said you averaged 12. I know what you meant. You had a total of 12. You had a total of 12 points in that series. That's what I said, my brother. Remember, I'm the NBA champion warrior. Yeah, so, okay. It was just confusing.
Starting point is 00:17:30 Like, just relax. You're a hater like that? That's how you start off all day? That's real hate. No, no, no. Hell no. What happened in your playoffs when you played against me and the Clippers?
Starting point is 00:17:40 Memphis, how many minutes you had? I'm a son of a bitch. No, no, you played with us for a little bit. What'd you say? Back to stuff. No, no, no, no. How much you had? Did you even score that series?
Starting point is 00:17:52 Yeah, I scored that series. No, you didn't. No, you didn't. First game, y'all was up 27. They ain't even put you in. We came back. Remember that? Because you came back.
Starting point is 00:18:00 Yeah, because you put you in, and that's when we came back. Because you was guarding me. Remember that? Yeah, talk, tell, show that. Show that shit. Come on. All right, Memphis. I told you, everybody's a suspect today. Memphis.
Starting point is 00:18:13 Yeah, zero. You didn't score one point. You didn't even play, damn it. Come on. Zero everywhere. You didn't get a rebound. Read him. Read him.
Starting point is 00:18:21 Nah, you didn't get a sense of rebound. OK, first game, I scored four. No, you didn't. Second game. Hell no, you didn't get a sense of rematch. Okay, first game, I scored four. No, you didn't. Second game... No, you didn't score four first. I scored four first game. Okay. And then zero...
Starting point is 00:18:31 I did not play the second game. And then zero, zero, zero, zero, and zero. Yeah, thank you. That's trash. Thank you. Thank you. When I averaged that series on you? It don't even matter, brother.
Starting point is 00:18:39 It don't even matter. I didn't even know I averaged this. This is horrible. I thought I was killing it. I thought I was killing it. I thought I was killing it. I thought I was killing it. I thought I was killing it. I thought I was killing? It don't even matter, brother. It don't even matter. I didn't even know I averaged this.
Starting point is 00:18:47 This is horrible. I thought I was killing it in the playoffs. Whoo! We will find somewhere to go. That was horrible. But back to the discussion at hand. Klay ghosting Steph. I'll ask you, Gil, because Nick already answered.
Starting point is 00:19:03 Think Klay regrets ghosting Steph before the game. As, Gil, because Nick already answered. I think Clay regrets ghosting Steph before the game. As you know, they gave out the captain hat. Steph was supposed to address the audience for the game. After the game, Clay said that they had texted back and forth and decided against that. Draymond shed more light on his show, basically saying that Clay ghosted Steph. Did they text or not?
Starting point is 00:19:21 So they didn't text? I mean, there could have been a text sent in red, but not responded to. I don't know, because if I'm believing Draymond or Klay, I'm going to believe Klay. I don't know. No, no. Klay a little political when it comes to speaking to the media.
Starting point is 00:19:39 He chooses words very wisely. He'll be like, I ain't texting. So he wanted to focus on the game? I don't... This whole situation is weird to me because why could you just get on the mic and be like... I think Clay didn't want that. I think Clay didn't want it.
Starting point is 00:19:55 I think, you know, you got to remember, at the beginning, he's in a certain mindset of basically fucked him over there. They are the opposite. And then I think mentally it changed once he got to the arena and he's seen all the love. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:07 So at that point, you know. The drama. But at the same time. I mean, he got his love. I mean. Steph was more mentally, like Steph got something
Starting point is 00:20:16 with Kyrie too. Like every time they play, he would outshine Kyrie. Does it have anything to do with Kyrie dotting his I for game in the 2016 NBA Finals? The hardest finals in NBA history besides the bubble?
Starting point is 00:20:28 I think that's what it was more. Okay. Because he knew he had a tough matchup, and they've been... Man, from when I was there, when we played Boston, it was crazy. Okay. They're competitors at the end of the day.
Starting point is 00:20:42 They compete. Everyone need to move on. And let's just talk about Steph a little bit. Does Steph have more killer instinct than he gets credit for? Obviously, he looks like a real nice guy. I told him he was a lovable asshole when we interviewed him last year. Obviously, very traumatic PTSD if you're not a fan of his team for the things he does to those teams, LeBron squads in particular.
Starting point is 00:21:03 But does he have more killer instinct than he gets credit for? Yeah. I think what happened with Steph early in his career when he was becoming a winner, winning championships, the team was so good, he was so good, that they didn't play in crunch time, right? You're talking about a team and him they literally set fourth quarters so
Starting point is 00:21:32 When you're earning your stripes to be this go-to guy at the end of games to be this this sniper when it counted You know when you're talking about the Kobe to Jordan hitting game winner type of type of dude He wasn't even put in those positions because he never had to. So I think now in his career, towards the end of his career, he's showing who he was, or who he is,
Starting point is 00:21:57 and it's kind of like, okay, he can hit those shots. Before, there was no resume of it. We had the, what, the OKC, Damien from half court. That was no resume of it. We had the, what, the OKC, Damian from Half Court. That was really much of it. And, you know, now, as of the last two years, we're like, okay, okay. Big moments, he can really do it.
Starting point is 00:22:16 Saw it in the Olympics. Like, multiple shots. It's not like it's just one shot. Like, it's multiple. Like, he's 12 in a row, 10 in a row. Final 12 points for the Warriors. 10-0 run by himself. Obviously, it's multiple. Like, he's 12 in a row, 10 in a row. Final 12 points for the Warriors. 10-0 run by himself. Obviously, he was extremely animated, yelling at the crowd,
Starting point is 00:22:30 getting people pumped up. Do you, like, have to be considered, like, an asshole for people to be like, oh, he's... He's like that. Like, I just... I don't understand that, because at the end of the day, if you put the ball in the basket, then people should be like, you're a killer. But because he's not, he don't get into it with people on the court. He don't get in fights. He don't shove people. He talks his little shit. He does it his way. And it's still Steph. He's an asshole. Like there's things he does on the court. I just be like, he's a fun asshole. Yeah, that's what I said. He'll irritate the hell out of you. Very lovable asshole. Because he's, like, really antic guy.
Starting point is 00:23:07 Yeah. Right? Shoot a three, pow, pow. Or he likes shimmies. Shimmy, turn around on you, do this. Don't let him get going. Yeah, don't let him get going. Like, if you're guarding him, you're sitting there like, yo, just, like, I'd rather you say shit versus, like,
Starting point is 00:23:23 because if you say shit, 27,000 people don't hear it. You start doing shit like this, turning around, doing this. 22 final when he did the ring meet in the third quarter with an entire quarter left of basketball left to be played.
Starting point is 00:23:41 That was very disrespectful. He's a very disrespectful player. Y'all have a whole entire quarter left. Man. You know where we're going. So did you guys ever find extra motivation to go at an opponent like that? Like did somebody not respond to your text or not get you a good enough Christmas gift or something like that that you were like, all right. Like Nick, when you played against Gil.
Starting point is 00:24:03 Extra motivation. I couldn't wait. It was finally here. Finally happened. He hated that. I hated it, though. The Wizards was so mad when you first came to. Oh, man, they wanted me to kill you,
Starting point is 00:24:16 but Gil kept messing with me all game. Doing the Wolverine shoes. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So when he came to the game, he do this. Because he's about to start scratching his head. So I started laughing, bro. I couldn't get really serious. They whispering in my ear, talking crazy. They were so mad.
Starting point is 00:24:35 They was like, yeah, we need you to kill him. Yeah, they wanted me to kill him. As soon as I sit, I'm like... He already know, I'm just scratching, dog. I'm just sitting there just... Every time I'm trying to come off the screen... Every time I'm trying to come off the screen, I'm just scratching off. I'm just sitting there just Just holding scratcher yeah Good to draw your nails out for that moment. Yeah, just just whatever they were
Starting point is 00:25:05 Mentally I had to get it here cuz I could do it physically so you hit him with the Wolverine. Wolverine. Wolverine is crazy. And you do the anime. As soon as I checked in. I looked at the... You are unbelievable. I don't know what was wrong with me, though. Alexia, how about yourself? You ever have any extra motivation
Starting point is 00:25:18 to guard an opponent or perhaps a team maybe that... Um... When my first game... Well, it was our first game of the season in Chicago after we won the championship and I got traded. And then the whole season I didn't really play, so then I went in there and I was like, well, this is what you had on the bench all last year. Okay.
Starting point is 00:25:38 I'm glad we won, but we ended up beating them in overtime, so that was fun. I definitely got a little extra motivated for that game. Well, it turned out. Yeah. I remember I seen Kobe do some extra motivation stuff. We was playing against the Warriors against Steph, and Steph was just killing us.
Starting point is 00:25:56 Then we came back in the locker room, and Kobe was like, I got him. I figured him out. I finally figured him out, saying it out loud. I got him. I'm guarding him. We turned to Jeremy Lin because Jeremy Lin was getting killed. He said, nah, don't nobody guard him. I got him. I'm gardening with her Jeremy Lane cuz Jeremy was being cute It's not don't nobody got him. I got him. I figured him out
Starting point is 00:26:13 Chef start doing shimmy on coke But he did do a better job than Jeremy Lin, I ain't gonna lie. He probably figured him out. But Steph did bring out the shimmy on him. But he did figure, he did, because he was, I think he had like one of those runs where he had about 22 at the half. Oh. And he was about to go for it, but probably missed one or two shots. So he said he figured him out.
Starting point is 00:26:42 So he was already hot. Figured him out better than Jeremy Lin. Yeah, I'm like, Kobe, you 36, 37 right now. He's 29, 28. You see, me and Lil Will was like, this is that Kobe moment. This is the Kobe moment we've been waiting for. He finished for like $30, $30.
Starting point is 00:27:03 It wasn't too much, though. Okay. He did shut him down a little bit. He It wasn't too much, though. Okay. He did shut him down a little bit. He shut his water down. Appreciate you sharing that. Let's keep it moving. So, as we know, being on the Internet and also reading Gil's Arena chat,
Starting point is 00:27:14 people like to get their jokes off. We have several comment comedians that come through talking about appearances and food interests and whatnot. Oh, they're mean. They're real mean to you. They are, but I appreciate it. Stop being mean to Joe's side, guys. I read them right before a direct deposit hits.
Starting point is 00:27:32 And I said, thank you. But it was no different when a Knicks fan by the Twitter name of BenHim16 posted a video of himself at the Knicks game this past weekend and was clowned for sitting in the nosebleeds. He responded by tweeting this. Nick, can you read that first word for me? Oh, you can't?
Starting point is 00:27:53 Blank will make corny-ass jokes about where I'm sitting, but in person you can actually see the game very well. Laughing my ass off. He does have that all 10, all 22 of you, if you will. You can see the whole floor. All right. What's wrong with that? He's in the building Madison Square Garden tickets are not
Starting point is 00:28:15 Several pair of Timberland boots several pair of Timberland boots just to get into the building But the tweet caught the attention of Josh Hart who decided to do something about the disrespect the fan was getting Hard quote tweeted with this response He said people always going to hate check your DMs, though I got some tickets for you next home game. So, turns out Josh Hart
Starting point is 00:28:31 is a man of his word, gifting the Knicks fan tickets underneath the basket, which are rather pricey at MSG as you know, and giving him a signed jersey as well. We got the picks.
Starting point is 00:28:40 Oh, look at that. But now he can't see the game. And that... That's before the game. That's before the game. That's before the game. But now he can't see the game. And that... No, that's before the game. That's before the game. That's before the game. He was sitting by the stanchions. Like, we talked about this in our producer chat.
Starting point is 00:28:51 And it's like, I kind of prefer the higher up because I can actually see the game. You look more baller in those court-sized seats, but you can't see half the court. You can't see shit. That's why I'm at the Rams game. There's suites, there's school, but I can't see shit. Yeah, sitting on the front row, like, you Sweets, it's cool, but I can't see shit. Yeah, sitting on the, like, sitting on the front row,
Starting point is 00:29:06 like, you're there, but it's not a good view. Yeah. You're just there to be there. Yeah. Can't see half the court. And you're sitting there eye level, like, it's just really all the whole, like... Like, who the fuck is on that side?
Starting point is 00:29:18 You could get hit by the ball. Yeah, you gotta be sitting in the middle. But... Love that, Josh Hart. You're the Gilds Arena crew. You go... I like sweets. I don't know why. I just... Zach and Cody. Zach and Cody.
Starting point is 00:29:31 I like to see everything going on. I got this. I can see everything. I can see people. I can eat my food. I can do whatever I want. I ain't gotta really... No one can see me. They can't bother you. You gotta have the... your own, uh, access to get in. I gotta be seen. I like seeing Korsak.
Starting point is 00:29:46 What happened? You got to see me, baby. You got to see everything I got to do. But shout out Josh Hart, man, if his word. Blessing the Knicks fan. Either way, if you're in the building, you're in the building. People, you got to stop all the hate, all right? It's 2024.
Starting point is 00:29:59 Never going to happen. You know. That's a good PR move, too. Good move by Josh Hart. PR move. But it made me just want to ask you guys, what's the nicest thing that you've done for a fan? Shit, remember those kids that used to wait at the tunnel?
Starting point is 00:30:13 I mean, at the top of the tunnel when we came out? Mm-hmm. Didn't you take care of them? Like, looked out or something like that? Everybody. Yeah. And what'd you do for those fans, too? I know.
Starting point is 00:30:24 Me, I did every day. Right? I mean. It was before they used to sell candy. They used to just be up there asking for like. The $10 candy? Even like from Golden State days, like, you know, like real true fans,
Starting point is 00:30:37 they always took care of getting tickets. Like even when it was on the road, like we had fans that, you know, little kids, you know, in their teens, they'll figure out how to drive road, like, we had fans that, you know, little kids, you know, in their teens, they'll figure out how to drive up to, like, let's say we was playing in, like, Portland or Sacramento. They'll drive there now, always gave them tickets. Like, I was one of those guys that, you know, like, they'll have the autographs, you know, like, we'll go to a certain city, and the guys out there sending with autographs, and
Starting point is 00:31:03 I remember a dude, he had a box full of stuff. And I was like, what do you do with this stuff? He said, I'm going to just be honest. I use it to pay for college. I'll set it online, get the money and I, you know, it helps me, you know, pay for certain things in college. So I was like, all right, cool, man.
Starting point is 00:31:22 Just give it all to me. I'll bring it back to you in the morning. So I used to do a lot of stuff like that. Okay. That's sweet, Gil. Nick, how about yourself? What's the nicest thing that you've done for a fan? Um... I was out one night, and, um, it was this...
Starting point is 00:31:37 this nice young lady. She was, like, struggling a little bit. She was whispering in my ear. I was like, you you know let's get away from this open area let's go to the private room and I blessed her and she was just so grateful for it and I was like damn she blessed me and I was so she was so grateful and she blessed me after so I knew God did that A blessing for a blessing. Made her dreams, huh?
Starting point is 00:32:11 I knew asking this question that I may... You should have saved him for last. I should have, but I should have thought about it a little bit more. I knew it might veer off this way, but let's move over to the side of the couch. Lexi, what's the nicest thing that you've done for a fan? There was a girl who messaged me on TikTok about one um about one of my crohn's videos and she also has crohn's disease so she was living in new york so i left her and her family tickets to our game against celebrity and i got to meet her but they actually were really sweet to me they brought me like a little gift bag and they got to come on the court and i got to meet them and yeah so i mean
Starting point is 00:32:44 they that was more heartwarming for me, probably, than for them, because it was nice to, like, meet someone else who has Crohn's and is, you know, dealing with it day to day, but her family was amazing, and that was really fun. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:32:56 I was like, y'all are good people. Despite what some may think. You don't have fans. Gil, you're an asshole. The only people that bother me are people asking, hey, can Gil do this and can Gil do that? Hey, what's Gil? Hey, can Gil come on my show?
Starting point is 00:33:15 Do I look like Gil Bernadino? But that's my thing now. But they'll send the nice, like, yo, what's up? How you doing? I'm good. What's Gil up to? Damn. I'm just trying to coach my team. I may merely be a host. I'm just, yes.
Starting point is 00:33:30 He said, I'm really just trying to be a host. Just start volunteering Gil for a random kid. But, yeah, we do love him. No, they do. I'm just trying to be a host. That's funny. I'm volunteering the community. I'm just trying to be a host.
Starting point is 00:33:41 I'm just trying to host. If you need any hosting tips, let me know. But nonetheless. All right, well, let's talk a little bit more about these Knicks. It wasn't all good for Josh Hart last night as he committed a foul on Kobe White's three-point attempt. With three seconds remaining, that led to the free throws that gave the Bulls the lead.
Starting point is 00:33:57 Jalen Brunson's attempt at a game-winner rimmed out at the buzzer. Knicks came back from down 22 points in the third quarter, but ultimately ended up losing the game. So Carl Anthony Towns did his thing, dropped 46, the fourth highest scoring game in the league this season. But instead of focusing on that, he was focused on going four for eight from the free throw line. After the game, Cat went back on the court
Starting point is 00:34:17 to practice shooting free throws. We've got the video. A 50 ball he could have had. So you see him out there on the court getting his free throw game right. After all, shout out Monica McNutt. Hey, Monica girl. Trying to do her hit.
Starting point is 00:34:30 But you got to make sure, OK, I'm seasoned pro, all up in the shot. She wear a glasses. All up in the video dancing. But nonetheless. He seen that too, mother. That trash video, mother. Nick going to be up here in a minute.
Starting point is 00:34:45 What happened? He's saying she got that Nick Young junior glasses. Nice fucking fish, big fucking eyes. All right, keep talking about my son. Wait, how old are you? Are you 40 yet? Almost. You can't see?
Starting point is 00:35:04 Hell no, I can? Almost you can't see Use your cat eye Use your cat eyes. So like I said big bodega working on his free throws after driving 46 You like see see a cat work on his free throws after a huge scoring game like that. I Like people I like to see people work on their game, period. Okay. Before, during, after? Before, during, after, right? It's just, one thing I didn't think of that I think James Harden kind of like started
Starting point is 00:35:37 that, where after big performances, you see him back in the gym working on his game, right? Before you go to the club. But, I mean, but, you know, it was a thing that, you know, we always worked, you know, before the game, come early at night, you know, never really seen somebody, unless it was a bad game, they'd go and shoot free throws after, but never seen someone who just continuously went to the gym after the game was over with to work on their game and get an extra workout in And that's that's just a different breed of you know dudes, you know trying to improve their skill level So, you know, that's that's just a good thing just to see him 46, you know, he missed some free throws I could have won the game. Yeah
Starting point is 00:36:18 We've seen other players like this. I remember Giannis. I think in Philly when they brought the ladder up. I think Kobe did it too, right? Mm-hmm. I mean, usually when you miss something. In the playoffs, when I got tapped by LeBron, I sat in and shot 2,000 free throws. And that wasn't something that you normally did. But you did that in private, right? You weren't... No, no, no. No, the season was over with.
Starting point is 00:36:38 We done. It's over. I had to sit there and just make sure it wasn't some mental block. Because I was an Orlando Magic fan, so I remember Nick Anderson missing those free throws. And then kind of like followed his career after, and it was like, ooh. And I didn't want that. So, you know, that's what I shot that. And then that stuck with me so much, the Nick Anderson thing, that I was like, I need to go see someone.
Starting point is 00:37:04 And that's when I seen the black ops Guy I don't run to the blue house. Yeah Lexi how about yourself? What do you think about cat staying after the game shooting free throws? Yeah, I think it's just like a mental thing. So yeah, he was that close to a 50 ball So I'm sure that was on his mind. He was four for eight. Those four would have got him over the hump Yeah, so I think for some people probably like'd probably be like, like, it's performative. He's just doing that so people can see. But I really think it's like a mental thing.
Starting point is 00:37:30 Like, you just got to see the ball go in. And you might as well do it when you're still there. Yeah. And honestly, getting a workout in after a game, like, that might be something I start doing. Like, I've never done that before. And I think that's like, you're at the gym. Everybody's there. The ball's right there.
Starting point is 00:37:43 You're already sweaty and gross you might as well Go get a few shots And then we don't really practice in crypto. So Thanks cat. I'm inspired inspiring a current generation of baller big Bojack Like purr. Meow. Cat is a career 84% free throw shooter though, so. But always good to get some extra work in. That's dope.
Starting point is 00:38:11 Yeah. Just one of those nights. Just one of those nights that happens. Did you know he was a career 40% shooter from three? Just thinking too much at the line tonight. He's a great shooter. Who? Cat.
Starting point is 00:38:20 He consider himself the greatest shooting big man ever, right? If I'm not mistaken. I said that previously. He's career 40%. That's pretty good. Career 40%. Yeah. He's shooting this year 50%. Yeah. From the three.
Starting point is 00:38:33 Yeah. So, yeah, Cat, I'm with you. All right. Well, they took an L. New York taking a lot of Ls lately. They ain't even leading the team in scoring, right? Mm-hmm. Yeah. Looking like number one option for the time being.
Starting point is 00:38:47 But we'll discuss that at a later date. But let's keep it moving. So not to be outdone by the big bodega, dropping 46 for the Knicks, Wimby messed around and dropped a career-high 50 points last night on the Wizards. Wimby apparently watches the show. Saw some comments made about him and decided to start going to work. He's 18 for 29 from the field, 8 for 16 from three in 32 minutes.
Starting point is 00:39:11 The eight threes were also a career best. So after shooting 23% from distance over his first nine games of the season, Wimby is 20 for 37 over his last three games, good for 54% in that time. He made at least six threes in three straight games as well, becoming the only Spurs player ever to accomplish that feat. Nice. He working on that. That's easy work. And at 20 years, 314 days old,
Starting point is 00:39:33 Wimby became the fourth youngest player in NBA history to ever drop a 50-piece behind Devin Booker, LeBron, and of course our very own Mr. B. Brandon Jennings, who dropped a 55-piece at 20 years and 52 days old back in 2009 on Steph Curry and the Warriors. That was nothing right there. So shout out to Mr. B. We'll have more on him later. Right there. That's all you got to do. Right there.
Starting point is 00:39:55 Just shoot over everybody. Just shoot over, yeah. It seemed like a lot of dudes, when the Wizards come to town, they use that to, you know, make that a career night. But in his post-game comments, Wimmy was humble about the performance, saying, my first thought is eventually I want the rest of our performances,
Starting point is 00:40:09 the rest of our games to overshadow this one. I want to make it where in the future this is just another one. So Nick, you were critical of Wimby's offensive game in the past on this program. You referred to him as a, quote, lunchtime hooper. So we'll start with you. You think Wimby has turned a corner offensively?
Starting point is 00:40:29 I think so. I think he's... It looks like somebody's been working with him a little bit. For me, I think that going to the whole pump fake, spin, post move, I didn't see that until, you know, that game. I mean, I like what I see. It's that easy for him. I didn't see that until you know that game and I like what I see is that easy for him? I didn't say he had game. I didn't you did you did say yeah, I didn't say yeah game. I just He needed to put it together need to go to me. You need to go to move put it together and just
Starting point is 00:40:59 You know learn how to how to use his seven foot five whatever he is And I think it was a little more extra motivation playing against the French guy You know, learn how to use his seven foot five, whatever he is. And I think it was a little more extra motivation playing against a French guy, you know. Number one pick, another French. Sacre bleu. You know. So, I've probably been doing that to them all, you know, while they've been growing up. Lunchtime hoop are not necessarily a negative, though. Uh-uh.
Starting point is 00:41:20 I used to hoop at lunch. If you hoop at lunchtime. Everybody used to hoop at lunch. You're dedicated. Shorts underneath the jeans. I mean, you're ready for action. He's starting to get to lunch. If you're hooping at lunch... Everybody used to hoop at lunch. You're dedicated. Shorts underneath the jeans. I mean, you're ready for action. He's starting to get to sixth period, you see. He's getting there.
Starting point is 00:41:30 He's getting there. He's getting to sixth period. You know, you got to start somewhere, you know? Lexi, how about yourself? Do you feel like Wimby is turning the corner offensively? He has been cooking as of late. Obviously, Spurs without Pop, who's, you know, dealing with some health issues. I'm hoping for a speedy recovery.
Starting point is 00:41:46 Praise to Pop. Yeah, he just looks more aggressive. Yeah, man. I still think he's... I mean, as well as he shoots the three, I just... He takes... He's still taking more threes than twos, which I think is so crazy, because he's so big. But he's such a great shooter,
Starting point is 00:42:01 so why wouldn't you take those threes? But he just got to be more aggressive every night. He can shoot over anybody. He can get past everybody that's guarding him. Like, it's easy. And like that 50, it didn't look easy, but like in some
Starting point is 00:42:17 way it did look very easy. And we've talked about, if you want to say, settling for threes, but, you know, we had Kenyon on recently and kind of similar echoed your statement. He wants to see him get more points in the paint. But my argument to that is always those big-ass feet got to land somewhere. So if you're doing all that jumping and all that stuff, you know, from a longevity standpoint.
Starting point is 00:42:35 No, that's facts. Just shooting more threes makes it special if he's shooting at a clip like he's been recently. But it doesn't look like, I mean, yeah, because no one is really challenging him at the rim because they can't. So they're just all down. You don't say he don't got to jump, he can just... But they all just down there away from the land. So, yeah, that is a bit dangerous.
Starting point is 00:42:50 I didn't think about that, so, yeah. What's his... Y'all know what size shoe he wear? 20-something. Damn. 20-something like that. You think Wimby is turning the corner offensively, establishing himself more? I mean, the last three games, he's been considered dominant. I mean, he's been averaging about 36 in the last three.
Starting point is 00:43:09 Um... My only concern is that he doesn't fall in love with that three, right? I mean, you know, it's impressive. Yeah, please don't. Please don't. It's impressive to see a big man shoot threes. Cool. It takes a lot.
Starting point is 00:43:27 But no one can stop you inside the lane or 15 feet away. Like you turn and face and shot a middie, right? 18-footer. When you're going to the layup, no one's there challenging your shot. They just can't, right? So when you're shooting threes, you're really stopping yourself, right? No matter how many threes you take, like I would rather have the seven-footer if I'm guarding him, shoot threes and sit there and put me in a post and then potentially just be dunking on me all night. So, I mean, you know, just understand that the person who's guarding you
Starting point is 00:44:06 would rather you sit there and shoot threes than sit there and post up, dunk in, and put them on the iso where you're, you know, like, coach is like, hey, yo, challenge the shot. And they're far. Give me some extra hands. He's shooting far. Yeah, he don't shoot threes.
Starting point is 00:44:22 He shoots steps. Yeah. He shoots dames and steps. He shoots dames and steps. Yeah, he don't shoot threes. He shoots steps. Yeah. He shoots dames and steps. He shoots dames and steps. Yeah. Man, and people say Steph changed the game. I think KD changed the game, too, for people that's over 16.
Starting point is 00:44:37 Everybody wanted to show they could shoot threes. And KD also used to dunk on people, go to the hole. But even somebody like Katie, who's a marksman, he don't shoot that many threes. That's what I'm saying. But the idea of somebody getting hit. See, I think that's the problem. It's the idea of Katie's greatness from the three-point
Starting point is 00:44:59 line, realizing he don't use it how you perceive it. Has he ever been in a three-point contest? No. No, right? He don't need to be. He's a great shooter. Great shooter. Of course. But he used to drive mid-range. He's a middie guy.
Starting point is 00:45:15 It's good to see him. It seems like, because back in the day, y'all know, if you was 6'8", 6'9", or taller, go get your ass in a post. Don't even think about shooting. Phil should be like that, though. Who was the first person to make mid-ranges, like, off-limits? Like, when did that start?
Starting point is 00:45:29 One player? No, like, just... From an analytics standpoint? Yeah. Who was the first person to look at data and be like, no more middies? Like, when did that happen? When the Warriors...
Starting point is 00:45:38 Houston, I think. Was it the... Because I've always thought that was so weird. Was it the Warriors? The Warriors been very... Houston, yeah. ...active in the charge of, hey, we need to shoot a gang of threes, and, you know, we're gonna do this. Houston, I think. I've always thought that was so weird. Was it Morgan?
Starting point is 00:45:45 Morgan's been very active in the charges. Hey, we need to shoot a gang of threes and get points. Phoenix was doing it back in the day, but nobody caught on to it. Nobody was doing it but them. No, but they still shot. They still shot. Like Nash was a mid-range guy. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:46:03 He was a marksman from the three, but he didn't shoot threes like that. He didn't. But Kareem Richardson and Joe Johnson. Yeah, they did. Even Matrix. Matrix. He dived.
Starting point is 00:46:16 If you work on something, you good at it. Let them do what they're good at. Exactly. But that's what I'm saying. He's still trying to figure it out. He's still trying to figure it out. He's still trying to figure it out. Once he learned about how easy it is, I think he's still trying to prove to people
Starting point is 00:46:30 he can shoot threes and show people that he got that jumper. You know what it reminds me of? It reminds me of like, Kobe, Luka right now, James Harden when he was averaging about 36, right? What ends up happening to some players, man, the game becomes so easy that they have to create difficulties in their, like when Colb would do three, four, five pump fakes. Yeah, that's right.
Starting point is 00:47:02 Like, I want you to just get there. Like, ah, ah. You there? You good? You solid? Okay, cool. Now, it was, I'm about to triple spin, go out of bounds,
Starting point is 00:47:11 shoot behind the basket type shit, right? It was, I'm going to shoot all left-handed in this game, right? You know, James Harden with the double step back and all that stuff, right?
Starting point is 00:47:21 What happens is, the game becomes so easy that they do extra things that make it seem harder. And I think with Wimby, I think if he decided to say, you know what, let me just see if I can just not shoot threes and just try to dunk and just make layups on everybody. What are our average? There's like Embiid, no one's going to stop you. You know, for the most part, you know, they're going to try to bully you from going down there, but nobody's going to stop you.
Starting point is 00:47:52 Like Giannis, like, you're not going to stop me from getting to the basket, so I'm going to get there. All he needs is a little edge, a foot. Who? What? All he needs is this much space. Is he going to have to finish in the top five of rebounding to win defensive player of the year? Foot who? Need is this much space Is he gonna have to finish in the top five of rebounding to win defensive player to you? How many threes he shot in three games 16? Oh, there's not 24. I think 37
Starting point is 00:48:17 He shot 12 last night. Yeah, 37 threes Way April 16 last night 20 for 37 over his last three games 16 16 threes? But yeah, he's like not even top 10 remounted right now. Stop. Nick, have you ever shot 16 threes in a game? I think so. You shot 16 threes? The most I've shot is 13. I got 32 attempts when you left.
Starting point is 00:48:39 When you left, I had 36 attempts. I don't know if I remember. I only had 36. I'm looking it up one time. I don't know if I... You only had 36. I'm looking it up right now. We are trying to verify. I think so. Didn't J.R. shoot the most? J.R. Smith shot 22? 16 threes in a game is a lot.
Starting point is 00:48:54 J.R. Smith shot 22 threes? Yeah. He brought the record. How much did Grant Williams shoot that game? And LeBron was... Grant Williams? Like, Grant, the light-skinned... Remember the playoffs? You did your three-hot 14, the light-skinned. Remember in the playoffs?
Starting point is 00:49:05 You think you threw high 14, a three-point attempt. What game was that? 14? You did it twice. I think you shot like 17 one game. When he was at Celtics. That's Anthony. Remember?
Starting point is 00:49:13 Grant Williams shot that many threes. How many was it? He could have played on my team. It was in the playoffs. Let me see. Oh, you talking about... JR shot 22. Ain't no way you playing on my team.
Starting point is 00:49:22 They were leaving him wide open. I don't give a fuck if you wide open. They won the game. Jared Jeffrey's shooting that many threes. Like, yo, we're going to have a problem. Sit down. Yeah, he took 18 three-point attempts
Starting point is 00:49:30 back in 2022 in a playoff game against the Bucs. Yes, I remember. May 15, 2022. You ever heard of that? Do JR. 18.
Starting point is 00:49:37 Who? Grant. I knew it. I knew it. 22-30. Grant Williams shooting 18. Grant Williams shooting 18. In the playoffs.
Starting point is 00:49:45 Wasn't it like the game seven or something? Yeah. And nobody... They were leaving wide open. Game seven, they won. He made seven of them. In Boston. I remember that.
Starting point is 00:49:56 JR, how many make out of the 22 threes? Oh, he made 20 out of 22. That's still... I think my highest was 15. Mine was 13. That was what we received. 10 out of 22 is good. Yeah, received. 10 out of 22 is good. Yeah, 10 out of 22 is good.
Starting point is 00:50:06 Did they win that game? Did they win that game? You like made, made, miss, miss, miss, made, made, made. Like you got hot after missing a few throws. That's what I always like to see in people's shooting percentages. You got hot after missing two throws. How did you make these shots? Did you make them all early and then you just kept missing?
Starting point is 00:50:24 Or did you make a few, miss a few them all early and then you just kept missing? Or did you make a few, miss a few, make a few, miss a few? What do you prefer as a hoop? You have to get hot. You have to get hot. You got to get hot at some point. But if you start hot and then you just get cold, then you're like, all right, what's up with you?
Starting point is 00:50:38 So we asked the chat, has Wimby turned the corner offensively? 67% said yes. Shout out to the chat. But the 50 piece reminded us some comments that an anonymous NBA scout made the ESPN's Tim Bontemps last week about Wimby the anonymous scout said he's absolutely awesome on defense and not impactful at all on offense he just looked like he playing without a whole lot of direction that's what I was talking about. Nick, were you that anonymous? That was me. They were watching you. Y'all be watching Gills Arena trying to, uh, see? Y'all be trying to take our stuff.
Starting point is 00:51:10 Non-impactful, I think, is... Yeah, that's a little... That's some hate. That's a little dig. So do you guys expect these critiques of Wimby's offense to go away now that he's shown what he's capable of, like, with this 50-pick? I mean, this is one game. And it's the Wizards now. Come on now.
Starting point is 00:51:26 Yeah, nobody else. An NBA team. An NBA team. It's the Wizards. Like, I mean, but as a second-year player, this is expected. Like, he doesn't have real direction on his game. And didn't Jordan Poole have, like, 42? Like, he's still trying to figure out what his game is. He can suck it, though.
Starting point is 00:51:44 It just seemed like they was playing a pickup game. That's that's that's the year of the player Like you're still trying to figure out what you do. Yeah Who you are in his in this league? So I don't think we will see any real Defying direction until I probably like year four. Okay, we'll start seeing like the of next year, like where we're like, okay, he found where his game really is and where he's unstoppable. But it's seeing this early in year two, at least a positive to see what he's,
Starting point is 00:52:13 now if he can drop 50, he can drop 60. No. He's playing basketball. So if you have talent in the NBA, you're gonna have 40, 50. Yeah, just like that, yeah. Right, you can play random basketball and do that. I mean, Jordan Poole scored 42.
Starting point is 00:52:31 But if he can string some more of those games together, based on what I'm saying, even in this season, you're not impressed by it? If he's going to have any shots, he's shooting a lot. But that's what I'm saying. He won't define what he's good at until year three, year four. Okay. Which is... Right now, he's just all over the place.
Starting point is 00:52:49 Is he still the favorite right now for defense player of the year? No. I don't know. I don't know. Nobody's been... Nobody's said shit about defense right now. Spurs currently 10th in the West, 6-6. That's why I asked earlier, because he has 10 rebounds,
Starting point is 00:53:04 but he's not even top 10 in rebounding right now. So if he doesn't get top 5 or 10, you think they can still give it to him, even though he has all them blocks? I mean, there's his blocks, rebounding, near someone who missed, I don't know. He's having a 3.8 blocks per game. They just make up shit. To be honest, they just make up shit.
Starting point is 00:53:23 But I think if you're watching that, and you see the way teams approach that, like if they're going one-on-one with a layup, pull it out, move it around, that's got to help impact that. Yeah. But yeah, Wimby I think is still currently the favorite, followed by Evan Mobley, Anthony Davis, Bam Adebayo, Dyson Daniels are all in the mix right now early in the season.
Starting point is 00:53:43 No Rudy? No Rudy? He's out? Rudy was. No Rudy? No Rudy? He's out? Rudy was hooping. What? Is Rudy's era of deep point open? Hold on, I gotta count.
Starting point is 00:53:50 Rudy was hooping in the beginning. He didn't play yesterday, did he? Currently ninth. He's not. Oh. In betting odds. A new era. Sacre bleu.
Starting point is 00:54:00 He ain't gonna win, though. Where's Cat? It'd be a travesty if he wins. Cat is not in the top ten. That ain't gonna win though Where's cat it'd be a travesty is the way that is not in the top ten. They're gonna crave All just some of rebound him. Oh Hold on good mobile should be in there right defense or rebound rebound So Joker currently leading the league in rebounds of 14 a game. Kat is fourth, 12.4.
Starting point is 00:54:30 Sabonis, Dubacher second and third. Giannis fifth. OK. OK. Oh, shit. It's Kat. Jokic, man. All right, let's keep it moving.
Starting point is 00:54:40 Yeah, he's killing. So ladies and gentlemen, we got a special announcement. So we just mentioned Giannis, but, you know, we've seen Cat with the 46, Wimby with the 50, but the Greek freak came through and did his thing as well. He was not to be outdone by Wimby's breakout game.
Starting point is 00:55:35 Giannis dominated the Pistons last night, dropping an NBA season-high 59 in an overtime win at home. So Dame missed the game as he's still in concussion protocol. From the outset, it was clear that Giannis was going to have to be heroic for the Bucs to win. Scored 22 of the team's first 24 points. Giannis ended up shooting 21 for 34 from the field and was an impressive 16 for 17 from the free throw line
Starting point is 00:56:01 in 44 minutes of action. He also added 14 boards, 7 dimes, 3 blocks, and 2 steals. Now, for everybody watching the game on League Pass, you may have noticed courtside there was a gentleman that was very turnt up animated. That was our very own Mr. B, Brandon Jennings. If you can read his lips, you know what he's saying. And he was hyped about it.
Starting point is 00:56:29 So game ended up going to OT after Pistons rookie Ron Holland missed two free throws. In a tight game with one second left on the regulation. But in overtime, Giannis outscored the Pistons 11-9, going a perfect 5-for-5 from the field. And the Bucks got their second straight win. They back, Gil. They back. How many games they won? I don't understand.
Starting point is 00:56:53 They have four wins. They have four and eight. I mean, the Pistons aren't as bad as they were last year, but... They are four and eight. Top 12 in the East. I hope we can see you. What's going on? Take a look at... I don't know if we can see you. What's going on? Take a look at Mr. B.
Starting point is 00:57:06 Oh. We are showing some love. Oh. I couldn't see me, man. Oh, bro. You got a flare like that at Dave. Yeah, the group chat was turned up last night, Nick. Yeah, Brandon said he saw some of your family.
Starting point is 00:57:17 Yeah. Some of your family out in Milwaukee. They said you need to pull up. Yeah. The 414. They trying to call me. I didn't answer. You know what I'm saying? Hey, straight to voicem up. You're 414. They trying to call me out of answering. Hey, straight to voicemail.
Starting point is 00:57:26 You know the move. See, 414, I like. Fuck with these people out there in Milwaukee. I don't fucking Milwaukee like that. I love y'all, but. But what stood out the most to you about Giannis' 59-point performance? For me, 16 for 17 from the free throw line.
Starting point is 00:57:43 Very, very, very good from the line. Right? Um... Like, he's getting better in the things that was handicapping his greatness, right? Free throws, pull-ups, setting for the three. I think out of the 59, he only took two threes last night. Damn, 16 for 17? 16 for 17. That's big.
Starting point is 00:58:03 That's really good for Giannis. Only took two threes. Like, he only took two threes, so he wasn't sitting there fucking just chucking shots up because they can't guard him when he goes and make layups. So those are the two things that stood out, you know, for me. They should be like, okay, he's learning. Lexi, what stood out for you in Giannis' 59-point performance? We got to see those highlights.
Starting point is 00:58:24 Just how easy he can get to the rim. But then you have to, like, you think about their record and how their season has gone, and you're just like, you have a player that dynamic and that good, and then you also have a player so good at Dame, and you're just like, what the hell is going on? Like, why can't they figure it out? Like, I just, it's sad because I think the two of them could be so good in this league together,
Starting point is 00:58:47 and I just feel like there's just... There's something going on that needs to be handled because that, the way he just played, like, there's... Now you can't reel him in after that. There's no reeling him in. So they got to figure out how to make that shit work. Four and eight. Top 12 in the East. I don't know if it's overcoaching. Like, alone, just him and Dane, how to make that shit work. Four and eight. Top 12 in the East.
Starting point is 00:59:06 I don't know if it's overcoaching. Like, alone, just him and Dane should be able to win you games. Right? He won that game by himself. He won that shit by himself. Just them two. Like, it's not like these are older guys where they're sitting on their lap.
Starting point is 00:59:20 They're not the Lakers, right? Where you're talking about a 40-year-old still carrying. We're talking about guys who's still in their prime. Like, in the beginning of their prime, they could carry you to wins. It's... No, not in this league. Lopez out there on the pick and roll. That's who?
Starting point is 00:59:37 Lopez. That's Lopez. I'm not talking about Lopez. That's what I'm saying. There you go. Dame don't even play deep like that. You got Lopez on the pick and roll. Dame and Lopez on the pick and roll.
Starting point is 00:59:46 You're going at Lopez every time. Man, sorry teams is winning games. No, no, no. They had a hard time with the pick and roll. I know. That's what I'm saying. Who is Gordon Yonnas? Name everybody but Cunningham. That's what I'm saying.
Starting point is 01:00:02 I'm saying exactly that. And to do that, try to fight LeBron. That's what he's known for. He tries to fight LeBron. That's what I'm saying. Sorry teams with no stars is winning games. So you're telling me my stars can't win games, my veteran team just can't win games just rolling the ball out? I can just be, I should be able to roll the ball out and win 40% of my games with my team? You literally have to be trying to really coach them.
Starting point is 01:00:29 No, it's an old-ass team. No, you know when motherfuckers coach, you try to coach too much. It's one young guy and everybody else old. Yes, we should be able to... Detroit's young and a bunch of hustlers. Of course. You remember some games when we...
Starting point is 01:00:45 Were you there when we were playing San Antonio? No, you wasn't there. We've been playing San Antonio, right? We can't beat San Antonio. So the coach comes in like, yo, hey. They got more talent than us. They're more prepared than us. They play better defense than us.
Starting point is 01:01:01 So there's no point in having a game plan against them because they know everything we do. So the only way we're gonna beat them is just go out there and play basketball. Yeah. Right? So just go out there and play basketball. I'll sub in on how you feel. Boom, we went and won. Sometimes, sometimes coaches overthink
Starting point is 01:01:19 and they want to micromanage everything, and the micromanaging actually hurts your production. And I think this is what's going on. I think that it's more of you're trying to control every element of the game when most of this game is gray area. And I think, you know, calling the play every single time down. Like, that's what this looks like. Like, you're taking 70, 80 shots, and you're Milwaukee Bucks with these two type of players. That doesn't even make sense.
Starting point is 01:01:47 So, you know, you might want to just let them just play a little bit and see what you get. If you don't see nothing, timeouts, dead balls, that's when you call plays. In the middle of the flow, you just let your players play. Like I mentioned earlier, Bucks didn't have Dame. Obviously, Chris Middleton's still out. They also didn't have Bobby Portis,
Starting point is 01:02:04 who was dealing with a right elbow contusion. And then they found a way to win. So that's what I'm saying. It was Greek versus Cunningham. And Greek should win at every time. So, Nick, you asked who was guarding Giannis. So Giannis obviously giving the Pistons defense some fits. There was a moment we got a show between Giannis, Isaiah,
Starting point is 01:02:25 Stewart. Stewart got the flagrant to. See? All he wanted to do was fight these guys. That's the one who tried to get Bron? Yeah. Oh, look at that. Any big man with dreads just.
Starting point is 01:02:37 As we are very familiar, Beef Stewart, a very big gentleman. He get kicked out for that. He did get flagrant to ejected from the game. Yeah, get out of here. Just yanked the jersey. But hey, in the 80s, they would have just said, play ball. Let's see it one more time. Look how much
Starting point is 01:02:58 bigger he is than him, though. What quarter was it? And you know, Beast, it was about that not one buck. He was probably tired of getting dunked on and shit You got you got that great, I'm just I think the real problem is I Don't think outside of Dame anybody knows what the fuck they're doing Dame and Giannis, it's just like Damian is and then Everybody else don't know how to play basketball anymore.
Starting point is 01:03:27 Yeah, look at the team. I mean... Scoring 22 out of 24 points in the first quarter in a professional game. That's ridiculous. AJ Green, you played 21 minutes. You got five shots. Like, you're Bronny James now?
Starting point is 01:03:42 Like, what the fuck is this? Like, come on, man. Unnecessary strike. No, I mean just saying but never like you what I'm saying is a that's a young guy who's scared to play Like I'm gonna take only the shots that I can you know, make why don't you write you? There's no one subbing in for you. You playing 21 minutes. You got five shots How are you helping Giannis five shots?? No. Same thing with D. Wright. Four shots, 27 minutes.
Starting point is 01:04:09 Yeah. Y'all supposed to be out there... That's what I'm saying. ...taking shots. Like, you guys... Well, that makes sense about the micromanaging because it's affecting everybody. Who is A. Jackson Jr.?
Starting point is 01:04:20 He played 30 minutes. Andre Jackson. The chat is pointing out you guys talked about the Bucs struggling with... Jackson Jr., four shots. In 30 minutes. Andre Jackson. The chat is pointing out, you guys talked about the Bucs struggling with the... Jackson Jr., four shots. That's what, in 30 minutes. 31 minutes, four shots. Like, brother, there's no one that's coming.
Starting point is 01:04:34 There's no one subbing. Half our team is gone. I need y'all to shoot. They had three bench players. Three bench players? That's it? Three bench players, bro. So you gentlemen talked about
Starting point is 01:04:44 the Bucs struggling against the Pistons. The chat has pointed out that the Pistons beat the Lakers, but that was in Detroit on the road. Okay. The Pistons are not the Pistons of last year. We didn't say they struggled. Who said they struggled? Nick said that earlier in the...
Starting point is 01:04:56 I mean, they struggled. I mean, they could have. That happens. They could have lost. They could have lost, but they didn't. I mean, it's just one of those games where they pulled it out They won and hopefully it gives them some momentum moving forward, you know, but at the end of the day This is not a Yannis and Dane problem So let's talk about Bucks have won two games in a row for the first time this season now four and eight
Starting point is 01:05:16 12th in the Eastern Conference after the game Yana spoke about the importance of the Bucks keeping a positive mindset Despite the tough start to the season At the end of the day, nobody say it positive mindset despite the tough start to the season. At the end of the day, nobody says it's going to be easy, right? I remember the year we won the championship. We didn't start the season very, very well, but at the end of the day, we never gave up. It doesn't matter who plays. It doesn't matter if the young guys don't play.
Starting point is 01:05:47 We never give up. As a leader, I keep reminding guys, don't take moments for granted. Never take moments for granted. When guys don't play and they're not available and your number is called, go out there, give everything you have for the team, play the right way, a good thing is going to happen. No matter who plays, we don't give up. You know, we always come here and try to find ways to win the game. Giannis out there sounding like Jimmy V. Don't give up.
Starting point is 01:06:14 Don't ever give up. But like y'all pointed out, Bench need to, hey, y'all got the opportunity now to go out here and get some buckets, but they probably were content just watching Giannis do a little everything. Yeah, but they, you know, I'm looking. They kind of, you know. probably were content just watching Giannis do a little everything. Yeah. But they young. I'm looking. They kind of young.
Starting point is 01:06:27 I mean. When you're looking over your shoulder, that's just. Who's the sixth man? Who's the seventh man? Like, that's a role. Where's y'all? Y'all don't know y'all roles by now? Like I said, we're all looking at Dame.
Starting point is 01:06:42 We're all looking at Giannis as, you know, what's going on with y'all two. They doing their jobs. Nothing. They're doing their jobs. It's nothing with them two, it's everybody else. Yeah. You're not out there doing what you supposed to be doing, right? They just beat Toronto and Detroit now.
Starting point is 01:07:02 Two Eastern Conference teams? Toronto and Detroit. I know, Conference teams? Toronto and Detroit. I know, but I'd rather you beat them than not. You better beat them. You better beat them. You know what I mean? If you're going to get a win, get that win, because I can tell you if Dew makes that free throw,
Starting point is 01:07:19 it's a different story on this couch today. It would be, as we know. Bucks' next game is against the Hornets in Charlotte on Saturday. Then they got the Rockets at home. Bulls back in Milwaukee on Wednesday. And then group stage game against the
Starting point is 01:07:35 Bucs, or Pacers, excuse me, on Friday, November 5th. I mean, that's what I said. Could this be the game that helps jumpstart and get them back in the right direction? No, it's not the game. It's the schedule. I think this is the schedule. The schedule that gets them back into the right direction. No, it's not the game. It's the schedule I think this is a schedule the schedule that gets them back into the right is like yeah This is it like we got five we got four teams. We we supposed to be For sure and then then we got Indiana Let's talk about another situation that developed in the aftermath of Giannis' 59 piece.
Starting point is 01:08:08 You might recall that Jalen Brown called Giannis a child after Giannis caught him with the fake dap. That was a man speaking right there. This past week. That's a man speaking right there. That's not a boy, that's a man. Well, last night, Nike Basketball subtweeted Jalen Brown. He just reacted today. So the Nike Basketball accountweeted Jalen Brown. He just reacted today. So the Nike Basketball account tweeted,
Starting point is 01:08:28 nothing childish about him, 59 for the Greek freak. And Jalen Brown responded, y'all got weird energy. Sure do, because that's fucking weird. What you worried about me for? What you worried about me? Nike having beef with a single player is crazy. That is a corporate crash out.
Starting point is 01:08:48 Subtweeting a player is nuts. They didn't think about that one. But shout out to the social media person who put that up and actually got Jalen Brown to respond. Come on. Engagement is quick. It's not a company. It's just a regular ass person. They got access.
Starting point is 01:09:04 Gil, you know they're on Slack. They got to run it up the ladder. They got to ask the big boss, can I do this? I need to know what the process is of these tweets from the administrative accounts because they're so petty and crazy. But I'm like, do they have to go? They have to get, like, at least two or three okays? Nah, you know it's a team.
Starting point is 01:09:24 You know it's some team, about 18, 25. Like, did you see what the Trailblazers sent to a fan? They, somebody, when Simon got hurt, someone was, like, complaining about his parlay, and then the Trailblazers responded with the number to people that have gambling problems. Like, just a picture. Just the picture. That's classy.
Starting point is 01:09:46 The Trailblazers social team always on top of their game. And that should have me weak, but Nike, you're weird. Nike, you're weird. The Nassus was guest tweeting from the Nike basketball account. They could have worded it. Oh, y'all want to play games, huh? He is hurt, right? I don't know, because now it's not even about Giannis no more.
Starting point is 01:10:08 Y'all made the whole moment about Jalen Brown. Y'all want him to be a Nike athlete. Just say that. There ain't nothing childish about this 59. This is a grown-ass man, 59. That's all they were basically saying. Wait, did the Celtics win that game? Yeah, Celtics won.
Starting point is 01:10:24 As you could probably guess. There ain't no childish play over here. This is grown man. That's all they were basically saying. Wait, did the Celtics win that game? Yeah, Celtics won. As you could probably get. This ain't no child's play over here. This is grown man. That's all they were saying. They should have worded it different, you know. Tatum got a clap back for Tatum. Grown man shit. Grown man shit.
Starting point is 01:10:34 It would have ate if Milwaukee won that game. Let me get that account. Right? No. Yeah. Oh, my God. Suspended immediately. Get Gil on Blue Sky.
Starting point is 01:10:45 We don't do that on Blue Sky, Gil. Let Gil run the Laker account. They do need to let you do a Laker sweater takeover. Get that account suspended right quick. Or elevated, based on how things are going. Or elevated. Or elevated, based on how things are going on Twitter right now. Yeah, Mikey, y'all are moving like that.
Starting point is 01:11:00 But our very own Brandon Jennings was courtside at the Bucs game last night, as we pointed out earlier. The Jack Daniels was flowing as he was courtside at the Bucks game last night as we pointed out earlier The Jack Daniels was flowing as he was spotted dancing during a break in game action Shout out to my source who sent me this video of Brandon getting it in Look at that move. This man got white folks going. Pour up, EJ. Do it, BJ. You know what's funny? I believe they were doing the running man or some variation of that. A lot of people were dancing for jokes. It still looked better than white people trying really hard.
Starting point is 01:11:32 He was dancing because he was turnt up. Brandon was locked in the whole game. It's a 4-1-4, Bucks and six. I was watching on League Pass. At first, I was watching. I was like, who's this dude that keeps standing up and screaming all the time? I always ask Mr. B. I saw the tough crowd. Turtleneck. Mr. B.
Starting point is 01:11:47 So but after the game Mr. B turned into Mr. BMZ Sports putting on his reporter hat and asking Giannis a question in his post game media availability. You give so much energy to the building.
Starting point is 01:12:03 I'm trying bro. I'm trying. So I know the season hasn't been the way you want it to go, of course. But how important is your brother for your balance when he's around and the energy that he brings? I just want to talk about your brother, like what he brings to the table for you. I think it's just for me. I think it's for everybody on the team. Like, Tanasis has this energy. It's incredible. You guys that watch probably feel this too.
Starting point is 01:12:34 I feel like the crowd feels, you know, he has this energy about him, but he's always checking on everybody, checking on Bobby, you know, checking on me, checking on Dane, checking on Chris, checking on Brooke. You know me, checking on Dane, checking on Chris, checking on Brooke. He has this talent that he can be best friends with everybody. I can't do that.
Starting point is 01:12:53 We're totally different personalities, but how vocal Vanessa has been throughout the years has been with the Bucks, his energy that he brings in the bench, his energy that he brings in the locker room, he checks on everybody. Good or bad. When you're BSing, he's going to call you out on it. We don't have a lot of people that do that within our team right
Starting point is 01:13:18 now. I definitely miss him. I feel like if T.A. was here, maybe I would have scored 70. For sure. 81. He's like my motor. Whenever I look at the bench, he always looks at me like, don't stop.
Starting point is 01:13:34 You're a machine. Don't stop. Don't take it for granted. Don't stop. And then all of a sudden you look up and you oh shit, I got a 70. Now I got a 60 or whatever. But I definitely miss him. I I got a 6 but I definitely miss him I miss our touch but I just miss the chemistry
Starting point is 01:13:51 that he created for the team like he had everybody like this and somebody got to step up on that role maybe it's me maybe somebody else to kind of create that atmosphere for the team again.
Starting point is 01:14:07 So, I want to say a few things. First off, shout out to Mr. B. We were led to believe that Gills Arena was not welcome in Milwaukee, but not only are we welcome, we get to have our very own one-on-ones during Giannis' post-game media No, he works for Gills Arena, Gil. Okay, okay.
Starting point is 01:14:21 We not invited. We! He's invited. We. And my family from out there, they will live. We are. He's invited, always. No matter what. Because that wasn't a normal, traditional, you know, media asking a question and then just jotting down. They were having a conversation.
Starting point is 01:14:37 Obviously, you heard Brandon interjecting several times there. But what Giannis said, Giannis talked about the importance of having Thanasis on that squad, said if T.A. Thanasis was in the building, he would have scored 70 in that game. You know what? Can you go back to the beginning of this video? So it shows you how important he is without words. When Brendan mentions Thanasis and what he means. Watch his body language.
Starting point is 01:15:06 Go. And you can cut it for your Nassus I was about to say. For your Nassus I was talking. The asses. What are you doing? We are working on some things. Let's go to the beginning and play. You ask a lot of our crew.
Starting point is 01:15:24 When he's around. Look at him right there. Just go back. Can you go back? No, no. No, just go to the back when he answers. Just look at Giannis. He started from the beginning.
Starting point is 01:15:34 Giannis rubbing on his hair. So why is he not on the team? He gets so much energy from the ability. Just watch his body language. I'm trying. So I know the season hasn't been the way you want it to go, of course. But how important is your brother for your balance when he's around and the energy that he brings? I just want to talk about your brother.
Starting point is 01:15:54 You can stop it right there. Like that genuine energy of positivity and vibration, you can see his brother brothers that important to him right even not for him He said for everyone he checks on everyone, but you know like when you say someone's name. It should be able to Generate something His brothers and just the thought of like oh you asking but like yeah. Yeah, you're like it's That says it all but him also saying that they don't have somebody on the team currently that fills that role, saying maybe it's me, maybe it's somebody else, that lets you know 12 games into the season that they're missing Thinasty.
Starting point is 01:16:32 I've been saying that. Thinasty is more like the third most important person on the Bucs team. But Yannis ain't the owner. It's Thinasty. Thinasty. Nick Clee. I love Thinasty. It's the asses. The asses. Nick Clee. I love the asses. He's a point.
Starting point is 01:16:49 TA. The most point. So why is he not on the roster? He's not on the roster. Philly's injury. Can't play this season. I'm sure they don't mess it up. So is he still around?
Starting point is 01:16:58 But they should have just... They need that. He could have been Giannis security. He could have had some role with the team. Yeah, they need that for Giannis. No, I mean, it's for the team. They need it for everybody, clearly. The vibes over there do not feel or look very good.
Starting point is 01:17:10 But they just need, Giannis need that. Those players are important. That's my brother. It's like my brother, having your brother on the bench, somebody you can talk to and be like, why that? We saw what happened to Ricky when Doughboy wasn't there when he went to go get the cornmeal at the liquor store. If Doughboy would have took him, Ricky would have went on to USC.
Starting point is 01:17:25 I'm looking at the team. I'm like, who he could get in for. I mean, they do, I mean, the rest of the team is young as hell. Child is the nicest. I know, but it's... I keep on forgetting he's older, right? Yeah, he's an older brother.
Starting point is 01:17:40 They used to share shoes back in Greece. Like, I'm just saying, like, that's his... But it's, yeah, but it's the, like, that's just... But it's... Yeah, but it's the guy that... He's like the glue for the team. What was the light-skinned dude? Sakurai? No, not the big head.
Starting point is 01:17:53 Not your team. Lakers, probably... He was part of the championship. Sakurai used to be there. He ended up going to Dallas, I think. Very good in Phoenix. Light-skinned. He sat at the end of the bench. Didn't play. He was basically like the bench
Starting point is 01:18:09 cheerleader. Which championship team? The last one. 2020? Y'all know him. Very good dude. Quiet. Dudley. Dudley. Is it Dudley? Jared Dudley. Y'all know who Jared Dudley is? Like him.
Starting point is 01:18:24 They loved keeping him around because he was such a positive dude for Everybody he checked on everybody like for sure like he's the type of dude that didn't miss no birthdays He knew your kids birthday your wife all for They'll be that Why they didn't figure out a way to keep the Nassus around despite his... Yeah, even if he would have been an assistant coach or whatever, the energy itself is for the team. Yeah, he's for Dallas, baby.
Starting point is 01:18:54 Shout out Jared Dudley, a legend. Because Jason Kidd, one of them. Too many people was hating, though. You start seeing it in the media too many times. And people, I hate the fact they listen to the media too much. Yeah, like, it's like, why is he on the team? You could have got some other pieces at 15 and 14. Right.
Starting point is 01:19:13 Like, I'm sorry, do you know what 15 and 14, do you know who that is? These guys are not supposed to get in the game. Man. We did not supposed to get in the game unless we're up 20, and we still probably wouldn't get in. That's the role of 14 and 15. So if I'm not gonna play somebody, I'd rather not play somebody who's gonna bring life to my team. Someone who's gonna be there talking about, yo good job, keep going, don't worry about it, don't worry about it.
Starting point is 01:19:36 Like he's keeping you there. People understand, those people on the bench, if they have shitty energy, they are the worst. Those are the worst people to have on your team. He's the dude after the game that all the coaches left, he rebounds for you. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I get so much shots for you. If your star player's having an off game, he's speaking life into these players.
Starting point is 01:19:57 And if somebody tries to tap Giannis, you need that. Right there. What are you doing? He's everything. Like I said, he's everything. He's like Kevin Hart and Jumanji. I got everything you need. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 01:20:10 Kevin Hart and Jumanji. I got everything you need. Just go in the backpack. Those players are important. We know Giannis is a franchise player, has a level of influence over there. We've heard this numerous times now. Gil Zarin, I feel like, was instrumental in leading the charge of the importance of bringing back the Nassus. Helped really elevate.
Starting point is 01:20:27 We had Mr. B out there. You saw Giannis' reaction. Yeah. You need him. It didn't become a typical post-game presser. It really was like, oh, I'm really going to have a good, I'm going to give you a good answer. So much that I'm sure the other media in there were salty.
Starting point is 01:20:39 But that's what we do at Gil Zerino. We walk in your trap and take it over. Because media cares about the game itself not the what what makes 59 and 40, but still we're posting is still using the quote Giannis talk to like man He's the one that he's the one that keeps jumping off the bridge And man, we don't lost five in a road Giannis over there like, trade me. Hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on.
Starting point is 01:21:07 Relax. Just relax. Calm down. Breathe. They need the money. Bring him back. Let's figure it out. For a million dollars?
Starting point is 01:21:15 Come on, man. I can make him stay. Yeah. Let me talk to him. I got it. But we asked the chat, is the NASA the key to turning around the bucks? 67% said yes. Chad, you were on point today, our last show of the week.
Starting point is 01:21:27 We appreciate y'all. Yeah, hiring him as an assistant coach or a trainer, perfect. So, Gil, you mentioned the Nassus being 14th, 15th guy on the bench, how important that is for your franchise player and to get him locked in. So now let's move back to the Western Conference. You already know, Segway J. Segway J. Western Conference, I can think of another 14th, 15th man on the roster,
Starting point is 01:21:47 Embrani James, and how important he's been. Essential. Essential he's been to LeBron this season. Leave the bet your own, please. You can say it's lazy, you can say whatever y'all want, ladies and gentlemen, but you cannot deny the truth. The Lakers were back in action on Wednesday night at home against the Grizzlies, and LeBron continued to make history.
Starting point is 01:22:06 So you may recall Grizzlies tried to poke the bear yet again after beating the Lakers last week, with Desmond Bain taking a shot at Bron and calling him an old man during Scottie Pippen Jr.'s post-game interview. Well, that old man got his get-back, dropping 35 points, 12 rebounds, and 14 assists in the win. Yes, he is 39 years old. Bronny, looking on.
Starting point is 01:22:28 That's my daddy. Oh, that's nice. Nice cut. Oh. Nice. That was a nice-ass cut by Austin Reeves. But like I said. Like, what the fuck?
Starting point is 01:22:41 So, Bron had the triple-double. He had 21 of 14 boards. Dalton Kinnick came off the bench, put up a career-high 19 points. But let's talk about the king. LeBron is now the oldest player in history with three straight triple-doubles after becoming the oldest player in history with two straight triple-doubles. And the Lakers are now 7-4 on the season. Oh, how glorious it is.
Starting point is 01:23:02 6-0 at the Cribs. 6-0. A very important number for Los Angeles Lenos. Shout out to Nifty Hustle. Unbelievable what we're watching right now. That's 6-0. We 6-0? I ain't going that far.
Starting point is 01:23:19 I ain't going that far. Still a family program. But Gil, we'll start with you, our resident Lakers fan. Hold on, let's just take a hold on before we go. Just relax. God, I'm happy you... Y'all was talking all that shit. Woo!
Starting point is 01:23:36 74. 74. A few stumbles along the way, it happens. Progress, slow process, nonetheless. Top six in the West. As we predicted, playoffs started today. They would not be in the play-in. We've never been in the play-in.
Starting point is 01:23:57 No, we would have had to play a play-in game. We've never been in the play-in. Just because you name it the play-in, it's not the play-in. Seventh seed is the seventh seed. Okay. We've always been seventh seed. Nine and ten. Nine and ten is the play-in, it's not the play-in. Seventh seed is the seventh seed. We've all, okay. Okay. But we've always been seventh seed. That's fair. Nine and ten. Yeah, nine and ten is the play-in.
Starting point is 01:24:08 Seven is the playoffs. Yeah. That's fair. Now we just got to fight for what we did all year with the tenth seed. Fight for what we earned. I got to fight with the tenth seed because they want to be good at the end of the season. Now, we've seen this team in years. Now, if you really break down the play-in, this isn't fair.
Starting point is 01:24:24 Sorry, Ann. They want to wake up at the end of the season. You're just going to grant them like crazy. You already know. No, when you break it down like that, the plan is crazy. We've seen previous seasons. We have not had starts like this. It has been rather frustrating, you know, getting packed up routinely on social media.
Starting point is 01:24:39 So, Chad, you can hate if you want, but we're going to enjoy these moments for as long as they last. But LeBron has averaged 24 points, eight rebounds, 9.4 assists. I believe they're 9.4 assists, third in the NBA so far this season. But 1.5 steals and damn near a block with 52, 46, 79 splits. 46 from 3.
Starting point is 01:24:58 What are we doing, LeBron? LeBron revolutionizing the game. If they go on like a real big winning streak. So Gil, do you believe the Lakers will get this version of LeBron all season? Knock on wood. I don't want him to do this every game, but he got his son on the bench, man. Hey, hey, man, let me show you how.
Starting point is 01:25:26 Let me show how an old fella done killed these young people. Like, that's... It looks like, you know, when your girl comes to the game and you out here doing a whole bunch of extra shit. So he's showing off for Bronny? Yeah, he's showing off for Bronny right now. Shout-out to Bronny. Did they play together, Bronny and Pippen?
Starting point is 01:25:43 They played in high school together. They played in high school together. And now together, Bronny and Pippen? They played in high school together. They played in high school together. And now Bryce is playing with Justin Pippen. Yeah. That's your occasion. So I think extra motivation, if you were LeBron, after they lost to the Grizzlies in Memphis, you got Desmond Bang going up to Bronny's
Starting point is 01:25:56 former high school teammate, saying, you snatched the ball from that old man. Bronny got to watch that. LeBron got to watch that. Time is crazy Pippen brawn Look at me if his lineup don't be relevant. No look near full-strength Look at the line here, bro. Look at a near a near they were
Starting point is 01:26:21 But look at Memphis lineup it's in business close Nick They had to worry and what he ran in the building. We lost like we won by three or four Team around in the building that close look at the lineup. I'm looking at it team rent Look at the land. I'm looking Mommy, huh? I'll play 13 minutes eight shots. That's I don't know who he is but god damn it I like I think it's like it used to be on the Lakers many moves go but I don't know who he is, but goddamn it, I like him. I think he used to be on the Lakers at the time. Manny Musica.
Starting point is 01:26:46 But Nick, near full strength Grizzlies squad. Not at full strength, near it. I mean, they got a lot of... They do have a lot of people missing. Team Morant. But this is... Who are they missing? Just stop.
Starting point is 01:26:57 But, okay, we're not talking about that. J-Bane. You play who goes out there. So they're missing three starters. I mean, that would have helped a little bit. That would have helped a little bit. They would have helped a little bit. But the bench, like, the bench, like... The bench was hooping.
Starting point is 01:27:08 They better hoop again. They 49. They got 49 points on the bench. That's what you need over there, Milwaukee. You need something like that coming off the bench. Being active. They should have blew this team out, man. Who? Lakers. Relax.
Starting point is 01:27:21 Win is a win, 7-4, man. No, no, hell no. They got the same record. No, no,4, man. No, no, hell no. Fixing the hard home. They got the same record. No, no, no, no. No, we don't have the same record. We're better.
Starting point is 01:27:30 You win by five with AD LeBron against Huff and Scottie Pippen Jr.? No, we got Cam Reddish. Come on, man. No, we got Cam Reddish. It don't matter. We winning against Scottie Pippen Jr. and Huff. We did. We supposed to win by 50.
Starting point is 01:27:40 No, we got Cam Reddish, man. No, no, no, no. I don't know. Hell no. I don't know. We didn't have Van Der. I'm mad about the win. Lagos fans Reddish, man. I don't know. Hell no. We didn't have Van Der. I'm mad about the win. Laker fans. Okay, cool.
Starting point is 01:27:47 Then let's keep it like that. Keep it like that. Nah, we're supposed to blow him out. We're supposed to blow him out. Nah, hell no. LeBron ain't supposed to be playing this hard for this game. That's what I said. Man, I got to see.
Starting point is 01:27:56 He was playing hard as shit. Man. Yes, he was. Come on, man. He needs a rest. Cam reminds me of, like, Call of Duty when you just start the game and you just got the pistol, right? I don't think he's unlocked more shots. Like, you know, like, it's like, I got the pistol.
Starting point is 01:28:12 I only got 10 shots. But if you upgrade it, you get 15 shots. And upgrade it again, you get, like, 25. He's still on beginner mode. Like, put a quarter in him. Hey, hey, you are unlocked ten shots, my guy. Shoot ten shots today. You can't play this many minutes taking one shot.
Starting point is 01:28:31 You made it to. He's mentally scarred. He's been beaten. He had enough of a beating. This is year six. They told him, don't shoot. No, you don't listen to them. Come on. Coach.
Starting point is 01:28:44 He was number one best high school player ever. Yeah. They were talking about. Hey, man, look, go look. You come in the league and they change your mind. It's hard to reprogram that back. Go get it. Listen, make yourself...
Starting point is 01:28:55 Try to do shit to make people happy. Make yourself a highlight tape of your high school games. Watch yourself put up shots over and over again. And then you go out there and mimic who you were This is not who this is not you. This is this you out of the league soon You know what I'm saying is a mimic when you're looking over your show she you gotta make a goddamn shot if you miss it Go get it. He's playing 20 starting play. Don't matter minutes like hey starting because 20-something minutes. He's starting because they want defense. He's trying to make JJ happy.
Starting point is 01:29:28 Let me play this defense. All that making, make yourself happy. You can't. He's beating. He's been told, been told, don't shoot that. Come on, man. Everybody who played against this dude in high school said this man was a killer. We're scared of him.
Starting point is 01:29:43 You have Anthony Edwards who did say that. Sometimes you don't pay it out. You just gotta figure it out. Bring back the Atlanta 2021 that COVID did. COVID fucked him up or something? The coach did.
Starting point is 01:29:54 The COVID. New York fucked him up. New York fucked him up. It was New York. Yeah, that time in New York. Call him out of play defense. Yeah, because if you look at Atlanta,
Starting point is 01:30:03 it looked like he was averaging 10, 11. He was shooting shots. Like, we 10 shots a game? Nah, that's the dude we need. I don't like this 2.8 shot. Fuck that. 2.8 shots?
Starting point is 01:30:15 He got to get his mind right. He's trying to stay on the floor, bro. Man, you can stay on the floor. You got other guys on that team putting up shots. He can put us in trouble. No, we don't. Like, listen. We got K'Nick.
Starting point is 01:30:24 Don't mess with me. I'll be damned. Westside, K'Nick gang. K'Nick gang. BB, we don't. Like, listen. We got connect. Don't mess with me. I'll be damned. Westside, connect gang, connect gang. BB Bang. Shout out in Brass. So you're telling me a rookie can come in here and get that many shots? Yes, yes. Because it's connect. I'm connecting. Connect folks. Hell no. I bust his ass one-on-one every day.
Starting point is 01:30:39 But still, he's a rookie. He allows to make mistakes. Cam in his sixth year. His allowed mistakes are done. He fuck up. He out the game. Connect mess up. He allowed to make mistakes. Cam in his sixth year, his allowed mistakes are done. He fucked up. He out the game. Connect messed up. He get a little talk like, come on, man. We need you to do this and that. That's the only thing I don't like. I just don't like that. And he only 25.
Starting point is 01:30:56 You're the same age as goddamn Connect. They are. I mean, Gabe went in there and took six shots in 13 minutes. Gabe don't need to be shooting. That's right. Give him shots of Cam. I heard, Gabe went in there and took six shots in 13 minutes. Gabe don't need to be shooting. That's right. Give him shots of kale.
Starting point is 01:31:09 But I do. 13 minutes, six shots, cool. But it's like, God damn it, brother. Like, this ain't Miami, man. We don't. That's why you see a shit don't even work around here. I'm just sorry. People ask you, listen, people questioning why Bronny in the league.
Starting point is 01:31:28 I'm starting to question, brother, why are you still here? Give him some grace. I hurt. Man, this is irritating me, man. No, no, no, that's contract gear. You got to play. Oh, he went to Santa Barbara? Okay, cool. He's a Cali kid.
Starting point is 01:31:36 Give him some grace, Gil. No, he's a Cali kid, man. Get this shit together, dog. I don't look like Shamar Moore. Give him some grace. This is crazy. He just ain't... Give him some grace.
Starting point is 01:31:44 Please. He's going't doing some great, please He's gonna figure it up today Today figure it out and shout out to the chat him Jung un pointed out there. Brani did not miss a shot last night He did right here take one. Oh, oh, I don't know about the G. We You can't miss a shot if you don't take it. Remember that. Oh, my gosh. I'm 40. I'm about to be 40. I mean, you're 40. Yeah, 40.
Starting point is 01:32:07 You're in LA now. You didn't miss a shot. All right? I don't care. You play in the same venue as Bronny. I don't care. Bronny not taking a shot. That's like five for five at best.
Starting point is 01:32:16 That's the most he's going to take. That's the most I'm thinking he's going to take. The most shots? The most you think Bronny's going to take. In one day? In the G League. In the G League? You can do both. G League and a game.
Starting point is 01:32:26 I think G League, I think... 12. 12 or 15. Like, if he's making shots early, I think he can get to 12 to 15. And how about in the regular league? Adam Silver's NBA. Two or three. No, no, no.
Starting point is 01:32:39 I'm not saying... It depends. If they're up, like, 25 or 30 going into the fourth or down. If he's barely taking them in the G League, why do you think he's going to come into the NBA game and start putting shots up? Because it's different. Right? That's an open shot.
Starting point is 01:32:56 In G League, those guards is us. Right? So it's Chuck first. And in the NBA, he's kind of like the baby of the team. So we'll give you the ball so you can pop off. So if he's playing on the court with like Rui, Cam. It's going to be the game. They already clinched their playoffs.
Starting point is 01:33:20 Yeah, they'll give him the ball so he can get his shit done. The problem is he'll be out there with like Max Christie. You know Max Christie, he trying to get his him the ball so he can get his issue. The problem is, he'll be out there with, like, Max Christie. You know Max Christie? He trying to get his bucket. He trying to get his bucket, too. So, unfortunately. G League is like, G League, you better get him up. First come, first serve.
Starting point is 01:33:35 This first come, first serve in the G League. You better get him up. They play pick up in the G League. You pass it up. You ain't getting back. So, but y'all think LeBron, you don't want to see LeBron playing at this level for an entire season, right? You would like the team
Starting point is 01:33:47 to step up, help believe it. I mean, there's just certain players, man, that you can help out. And I think just the fear of, the fear of missing and playing bad.
Starting point is 01:34:00 Like, if that's what you're thinking about going into the game, you are going to play bad. Right? You just go play, man. Just play the game. You've played this game. You was ranked one, two, for a reason. He used to tell me that all the time.
Starting point is 01:34:12 He used to call me all the time with that confidence. I used to love him. Who, LeBron? I mean, it's not out of the... If he starts winning... If they win and he keeps playing at this level... Oh, yeah, we MVP. I don't know, Anthony Davis might be in front of him because Anthony Davis balling.
Starting point is 01:34:26 Right. I'm sure we can figure out a way to make a narrative to get LeBron back. I don't have the answer just yet. Because when was the last time LeBron was seriously in MVP combo? He should have won the year they won the championship. It's been a minute.
Starting point is 01:34:39 Miami days is the last time they gave it to him. Which is so crazy. And he was calling him Wash Dan. Remember, he was like hashtag Wash Dan. The fact that he's never even in the conversation the last time they gave it to him. Which is so crazy. And he was calling them Wash Den. Remember, he was like, hashtag Wash Den. The fact that he's never even in the conversation the last few years is... I know, because they haven't been as good, but... In 2000... He should have won the year he won that team.
Starting point is 01:34:56 Yeah, he hasn't won MVP since 2013, which is crazy to think. That team, he should have won. He's played 11 years since. He finished second in 2018. Finished second in 2020. When the Lakers won the hardest championship Giannis who won the 2018 was that the year? 2018 was James Harden James I know this stuff James are in a Westbrook, one of them.
Starting point is 01:35:26 Damn. And that team was nasty. That's the year when J.R. Smith... That's crazy. How many MVPs does Bron have? He only has four. Four? Unfortunately.
Starting point is 01:35:35 He only four. That's how you know life isn't fair. Hmm. Eleven years ago. Racism is still alive. Look at that line up. That team. I know.
Starting point is 01:35:43 That's crazy to think about. That team is crazy. But let's talk. Make a game win, isn't it? Y'all mentioned Dalton, connect, Westside connect, connect, connect, game,
Starting point is 01:35:48 BB Bank. Was on fire off the bench. Career high 19 points. Seven for eight from the field. Five for five from three. J.J. Reddick called him the catalyst for the Lakers' comeback win.
Starting point is 01:35:59 What can the Lakers reasonably expect to get out of Dalton connect this season? Is he the next great white Laker hope? I told him, play the whites. Are you trying to push Austin Reeves off the pedestal?
Starting point is 01:36:08 No, you got to play the whites. You got to play both of them together. Play the whites. Exciting whites. Exciting whites. The cheeky whites. I love them, man. Reeves and Connect.
Starting point is 01:36:18 Oh, my. Both can go to the Roscoe's on Manchester. Listen, listen. Yeah, they can go anywhere they want. White people are slick with these names and them numbers. You got AR-15. Yeah. And then you got Connect Four.
Starting point is 01:36:33 They slick clever. They be eating with the nicknames. Them fuckers is clever. If you Connect Four, if you the game, you got to give them an endorsement. And if, you know, I don't know if Austin Reeves likes... AR-15? Weaponry, but you can give them the AR-15 billboards. Most of them do. Most of them.
Starting point is 01:36:51 He's got the Lemon Daddy billboards. AK-47. They crazy. They slick. Lemon Daddy. Austin Reeves got Lemon Daddy billboards all over Los Angeles. What does Lemon Daddy even mean? Lemon Daddy's. Papa de Limon. I don't know.
Starting point is 01:37:04 I see the billboard. If you have a lemon, I believe you can hit that website. Call him Daddy. And then Austin Reeves will get you some bread for that lemon. Lemon Daddy. Came up with that one. LemonDaddy.com. I mean, he's a great, like, he reminds me of, like, Caruso, right?
Starting point is 01:37:19 Very important to winning when he was playing on the team. Same thing with A.R., right? He's just another guy that's coming in that's really making a name for himself as a sixth man. Pretty sure next year he's going to be competing for that starting position against A.R. And it brings me to my next point, because as I'm watching it now, I'm kind of seeing the future.
Starting point is 01:37:43 More smooth. You have him for his bread level currently. That, you know, 17th overall pick bread versus AR who got that new deal. You would hate to see. I'm a big Austin Reeves fan, as you know. Yeah. But you know the Lakers. Who told him?
Starting point is 01:37:56 Can they? You know what's so funny? Nothing against D-Lo, but it's you can put him at the point and be fine. You can put AR at the point and be manageable. I mean, I've done it before. And connect at the two. And then you have a really deadly, you know, backcourt that's... Well, dudes you know are going to shoot the ball.
Starting point is 01:38:20 And they're big guys. LeBron, Rui, and AD. I mean, LeBron normally like the point nobody's the point But now I got two shooters that sitting there roaming around those and they can guard the one into yeah Who they gonna bring off the bench? Oh, yeah, we're about the future. We're in the future You can make where yet no right now I'm right now. I'm talking about right now. I'm talking about, you know, later, two years from now. Oh, no, it ain't gonna be that lineup. Bron's gone. Bron's gone,
Starting point is 01:38:48 and then we got a Caucasian team. That would be crazy. Huh? That ain't gonna be the lineup. Which one? That. You saying Bron gone in two years? Nah. He's never retired. Yeah. Bron not leaving. He gonna be playing against Huff for a while,
Starting point is 01:39:02 so he the four man. He'll be there for Huff for a while, so. He the four man. He'll be there for Bronny's whole career. They can retire together. Year 42. Year 42 for Bron, year 20 for Bron. To leave is crazy. Will he ever leave? Who's Bron got to play against?
Starting point is 01:39:17 Who's guarding LeBron each night? He gone next year, man. Nah, hell nah. You think, what? He gonna win a championship. Two more years. Oh, if he win a championship. 2026, man. Nah, hell nah. What? He got to win a championship. Oh, if he win a championship. 2026, man, he gone. What more he got to do? You want him to leave.
Starting point is 01:39:32 I think Bron will stay long enough to win a championship with Bronny, so he could leave in 2025, conceivably. Yeah. Yeah, possibly. 2026, man. He out of here, man. He's... Y'all can kiss my ass. Ohio style.
Starting point is 01:39:49 You think so? Yeah. Come on, man. Look at him. What else is he proving here? Shit. There's nothing to prove. There's nothing to prove.
Starting point is 01:39:59 Even if Brady... If you don't like me, you don't like me. There's nothing I can do right now in this game that's going to change your minds. Oh, he don't like me? You don't like me? There's nothing I can do right now in this game that's going to change your minds. Oh, he don't care about that. Yeah, so at this point, what am I really proving? He's playing with his son. Yeah, that's it. But that's what I'm saying.
Starting point is 01:40:13 His son, you got Bryce coming. You can't get one in. If I can play with both, that'd be great. But right now, as of today, I think something's been fulfilled that he never seen coming, no players seen coming, and no players has actually had. That he gets to be with his son 365 days.
Starting point is 01:40:39 Like, when you're talking about a parent, remember, we're gone 60% of the time on the road. Right? So this is the first time in his career that he gets to be around his son 365 days because they're on the same team. Do you know what's better than playing with one son? You're not going to retire at Lakers. Yeah, he is. I don't think the Lakers draft Bryce.
Starting point is 01:41:03 Somebody else is going to draft him. He's got to go over there. You know what's better than playing with one son? Playing with two. Playing with two. Nah, that's too many roster spots. We good. Man, listen.
Starting point is 01:41:13 That's, that's... Whoever's gonna be number 15 at the time, you gonna go to the G League, he gonna come in. That's too many roster spots. Gil, to your point that he may be out by next season, according to Shams on NBA Today, or he said today, since his next season could potentially be his last in the NBA, but maybe Bryce keeps him around an extra year or two.
Starting point is 01:41:30 We'll see. There you go. It's already started. All right. So that's two and two. Then we got to wait for Zuri to get to WNBA. I mean, she don't play basketball. She does not play basketball.
Starting point is 01:41:40 No, she does not. Let's keep this thing moving. So we got to talk about unfortunate situation going on in the league. NBA secured an 11-year, $77 billion TV rights deal before this season, but is facing a serious issue
Starting point is 01:41:54 as NBA viewership is on the decline. So on a recent episode of his big podcast, Shaq offered these thoughts on why NBA viewership might be down. I have a theory that it's down because we're looking at the same thing. Shack offered these thoughts on why NBA viewership might be down. in his era, it was like, yo, he would just shoot 53. And I was like, well, how much do you want to make? We want to make about 10 or 15 of them. I was like, well, that's not going to help you win, but I think everybody's looking at the same thing. And Steph Curry and those
Starting point is 01:42:32 guys messed it up. Like, I don't mind Golden State back in the day shooting degrees, but every team's not a three-point shooter. So why everybody has the same strategy? I think viewership will continue to go down unless we switch things back up. So, Gil, you had a, you made a similar assessment in the past. On this very program, Gil's Arena, presented by Hunter Dog, Woof Woof.
Starting point is 01:42:54 I made a statement that says every team shouldn't be shooting that many threes because every team don't have Steph Curry, Klay, and KD on their team. Yeah. You don't have nothing close to number one, two, and four, five. You don't have that to be taking the same amount of shots as them. So, to Shaq's point, so far this season, the league averages 37.23 point attempts per game, which would be a record. Seahawks are currently leading the league with close to 51 of their 90 shot attempts
Starting point is 01:43:24 per game coming from beyond the arc. There are seven teams averaging more than 43 point attempts per game, and every team in the league is taking at least 31 threes per game. Does Lakers read last? We are not last. I believe the Pelicans were last, but nonetheless. But that's not the reason the viewership is down. So there are a lot of factors contributing to the NBA viewership issues among them star players missing a lot of games
Starting point is 01:43:48 Because I don't want three games. It's offensive to watch. There you go. It's expensive to watch games now. It used to be free Like leave passing you don't even get all the games you don't even get the games in your own You don't get the all the games. You don't even get the games in your own city. You don't get the Lakers games. Yeah, you don't even get your own teams and your city's games on League Pass. Like, the reason that is now... Get you some cable. No.
Starting point is 01:44:12 That now makes you buy cable, too. So you got to buy cable for your own teams, and then you got to buy League Pass to get the League Pass stuff. So what ends up happening is the distribution of games now. They're harder to find. For sure. And also you got viewing habits shifting to more short form clips. It's hard to find things to watch
Starting point is 01:44:32 and view tip is down. Let's be real. I ain't no snitch. It sounds like the W, right? I ain't no snitch but if you want to watch games, there are avenues and ways on the internet always where you don't have to pay to watch games. But again, that's how your computer closes. So y'all making us do that, League, so that's really your problem because you're making
Starting point is 01:44:50 us have to find ulterior situations. That's what I had to do when I was overseas. Because we're going to find it. And we're going to find it for free. No, but that's the problem. That's the problem. We have to find it. It used to be available.
Starting point is 01:45:03 Yeah. Yep. Like, I don't, like, I was trying to watch my daughter play. I know. Right? And I'm like, now I got to get Disney ESPN Plus. And, you know, like, now I got another motherfucking channel to get. I thought I already had this, but now it's on ESPN. Now you got to get this.
Starting point is 01:45:26 But, like, it're just making it harder. You did text me that day, and I had to go on a hunt to figure out. Some games is on Tubi. For you to watch all sports, you gotta have everything because they're just splitting it for the NBA money-wise. Perfect for you, but for the viewers,
Starting point is 01:45:42 you're fucking us. You had Bronny on Tubi, MJ. That's sick, man. You will pay for your crimes. Tubi is crazy. You had Bronny on Tubi. That's crazy. Like, I had to watch half the game on Tubi, and then it went off Tubi.
Starting point is 01:45:56 You just start watching high. And then this shit came on. The fourth quarter came on Hulu. Like, what the fuck is going on, man? Like, yeah, I'ma just buy all the fourth quarters. They keep getting more expensive every year. Hell, yeah. With more restrictions. Like, you can't even share your shit with people no more.
Starting point is 01:46:13 Spending some bread on these games. Might as well just buy a ticket to the game. We used our chat for an informal research. We asked them, how do you watch the NBA? Didn't make them get into particular. What is the four? So the options are cable, league pass, streams, only watch highlights. It's going to be streams. Streams, 57%.
Starting point is 01:46:31 Highlights. Only watch highlights, 18%. League pass, 12%. Cable, 13%. Yeah, that's what it's going to be, streams. Because I haven't, I mean. Hopefully legal ones. Like the easiest way, like that's what I'm saying.
Starting point is 01:46:43 The easiest way is if just one one Station, you know if it was Netflix if it's Amazon they have everything so we can just go there and watch it all Don't give us half the teams here three teams there for like that's come on us. You're doing too much now But we're getting that 77 billion dollar bag by doing that's from that problem They're player contracts are money for the players and then but the fans you matter to fans They got excited I ain't got cable. I ain't got no cable at all. A lot of people don't have cable. I got Prime. I got Hulu. Disney.
Starting point is 01:47:29 Then you can't watch no home games. I ain't seen a leg of games. See? I streamed it. Legally, I know the... Legally streaming, okay. The legal streaming. Of course.
Starting point is 01:47:38 Because we don't break any laws here other than driving. I'm not wrong about that. What? That's not... That doesn't have a direct correlation to the viewership. But it is a reason why people are like, eh. Chicks love the long ball.
Starting point is 01:47:51 That's always been a thing. It's been confirmed. It's a thing. It looks cool. So it's just... The distribution is just bad right now for the consumer. It would be fun for some teams to like... Different teams having their own identities.
Starting point is 01:48:06 I just feel like teams are identity-less. I think like the Suns, Matt Ishby, if I'm not mistaken, made those games free for Suns fans to watch in the local market,
Starting point is 01:48:14 Ishby over. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. Like, because he probably realized like, damn, the people in Phoenix can't watch the game if they don't have cable TV. But if you don't have cable TV,
Starting point is 01:48:24 you can't actually watch your home team anymore. We remember when we were coming up, KCAL 9. KCAL 9. So you're getting all your real views. Name Brown.
Starting point is 01:48:37 But just like anything, man, when you add it all up together, the views are there. You just got to fucking pull them from everywhere. Because I remember they said LeBron James is a record-breaking shot seen over, what, how many billion people
Starting point is 01:48:53 seen it? Yeah. And then this year we had the jaw highlights. They said over 160 million views at that point across their social accounts. So people are still watching. I think a lot of the younger kids nowadays got short attention spans. But they don't watch any fucking games. They're not watching Memphis. The only people that can really see our games is probably overseas.
Starting point is 01:49:14 We don't have no restrictions over there. And do you think the issue with the star players not playing is another factor? Yeah, because nobody know who people are. I'm going to be real. I watched that Sixers-Cavs game last night. I know Embiid and PG weren't playing, but I got to see Jerry McCain. You know, I got to see. A I'm gonna be real. I watched that Sixers Cavs game last night I know him beat in PG weren't playing but I got to see Jerry McCain, you know A true fan is a listen a true fan is gonna watch their team no matter what no right a Laker Clippers they've been coming to the arena forever. Right Laker fans is gonna walk we watch y'all
Starting point is 01:49:40 We watch y'all we nobody knew not one player on it. Nobody knew Socrates, we ain't gonna start in five. We must name you start a five. Oh sorry five with the other man I like name them George for more Me I'm gonna start baby. Okay, uh-huh Keep going. That's you're thinking I'm you don't know who to Paul Gasol Paul. No, that's it That's Lou Williams. No, I said you're starting five. Who's your small forward? I'm saying I'm stopping. You don't know who to... Paul Gasol, Ron Artes, Lou Williams. No, I said you started five. Who's your small four? I'm naming the team. We had the number one pick in Brandon Ingram, Julius Randle.
Starting point is 01:50:11 We had some shit. We had some... Not a year before that. Huh? The year before that. Who was on the team then? Nobody. Okay.
Starting point is 01:50:21 Yeah, we had Ron Artes, me, Paul Gasol. Yeah. Yeah, yeah., Paul Gasol And Colby Colby it was always The Lakers though, it's the Lakers. We playing against Memphis with no job. We changing that shit. No, we wasn't. Man, you're going to see Huff doing... We got LeBron James out there. LeBron's playing and we have Brownie with the potential to play. Oh, man. You expect a blowout. You don't see nobody out there.
Starting point is 01:50:54 Kids love job. With the Lakers... Is job not playing? Kids, nobody watching that. Man, kids don't watch TV anyway, man. They watching... They watching TikTok and... They watching TikTok, YouTube. They watching YouTube. Because for parents, it's cheaper. It's cheaper for them if... It's like video gaming, right?
Starting point is 01:51:11 If I can get on my Xbox, that's how kids used to talk back in the day, right? You get on your Xbox, and then you just invite your friend, and then y'all just talk the whole goddamn time. So you didn't need a cell phone. You can watch games on YouTube, too. Not home games. But you can watch basketball. You can watch games on YouTube, too. Not home games.
Starting point is 01:51:27 But you can watch basketball. I can watch basketball now. But if you're a fan of your home team, YouTube. I got the football package on YouTube. I got the football package. You can't watch Rams. You got to have Hulu. Yeah, that's right. Now you got to have Hulu.
Starting point is 01:51:38 So you got to have something different to watch something else. So your home base, you need two things now. You need streaming to watch everything else, and then you need something to watch a else. So a home, your home base, you need two things now. You need streaming to watch everything else and then you need something to watch a home game. So you're just making it more expensive
Starting point is 01:51:51 for the average fan. And you're not buying a Lakers team. But everybody's been here this year. Ja is a big part of this new generation. You need people that,
Starting point is 01:51:58 the kids and the new generation follow. Ja been out for the last two damn years. He come back, do some flying shit like he did the other day. And then get hurt again. Yeah, turn shit up. Yeah, like people need, they want to see Ja. I can be honest with you man. They watching Ja highlights. They not watching the Memphis Grizzlies games. Just put the shit together
Starting point is 01:52:19 and then send it. Ding! Soon as it goes. Ja was playing like, come on, Ja versus LeBron is crazy. What I'm saying is, the game he did all that, nobody watched that game. We just watching the highlight. Boy, that boy bad. Let me go get my Ja Marans part twos. That's it. That's how that works.
Starting point is 01:52:35 What's crazy is the only real place to watch free basketball content is on YouTube with Gil's Arena presented by Underdog. Whoa, whoa, whoa. It's free, but you can't watch your home team. But we broadcast every game, home, road, whatever it may be, and we'll let you know what happened in our very own unique way. And Lexi, you said earlier, do you think the threes is contributing to that?
Starting point is 01:52:56 People don't want to watch people shooting all them damn threes? I don't mind. I like threes. I mean, it depends on who's shooting them. I don't know. If the jumper's broke, yes. If a big maners man soon three that I don't want to see that shit Oh, yeah Because I don't want to when we play we wanted to see hack and shag and the ball go down to the post and the post Do this right don't want to see that either
Starting point is 01:53:14 I don't want to see a bunch of files and see five Steph Curry's on the floor I'd rather see fifty threes and fifty free throws. I don't want to see I'd rather see a hundred and thirty than eighty five. I want rather see 50 threes and 50 free throws. I don't want to see... I'd rather see 130 than 85. I want to see some dunks. I want to see some dunks. I can tell you that for damn sure. I don't want to see Wimmy shoot 16 threes. I don't want to see goddamn Cat shoot 40 threes.
Starting point is 01:53:35 Every time I turn on the... It's a tall, seven-foot motherfucker. I don't want to see that shit. You want to go back to some of them games, man? Might as well just have Gobert shoot threes. That's next. He's probably working on his shit right now. When Detroit Pistons was playing and they holding people to 80,
Starting point is 01:53:51 brother, those games was, that wasn't attractive. They're not talking about going back. No, I'm just saying, it wasn't attractive at all. And tell the truth. We watched because we had to and we didn't know no better. That shit's cold. Somebody get a bucket, please. Get a bucket.
Starting point is 01:54:04 Damn! Just brick, brick, brick, brick, brick. Shit, that shit from half court at this point. 60 points in the finals. What is... Not that. We don't care about defense. I forgot what game I was watching.
Starting point is 01:54:15 I feel like the teams that play the right way win all the time. Yeah. I mean, there's teams that's exciting to see. Man, there's players that's exciting. It's just this... The main thing is more just distribution of how network is now. That's all yeah That's the main reason like when the Lakers won they wasn't like a three-point shooting team. It was big like back in the day Then you got stealth and the Warriors that would
Starting point is 01:54:40 We're still gonna watch it and let y'all know what happened as long as you pull up. I got ten apps, man. So do I. I got them all. We got about 17 social media apps. I don't know which one. I got YouTube TV. The WNBA package. Hulu.
Starting point is 01:54:54 Wait, time out. Fubo. You got the WNBA package? Yeah. I got ABC. Ooh, I don't know about that. Prime Video. Don't even know what that is.
Starting point is 01:55:07 Amazon. Okay. I got Tubi. Just add money to your wallet. It just disappears. It just disappears. I thought I had it. $10 here.
Starting point is 01:55:16 $9.99. What's Netflix? I got NBA.com. Everything. You need everything. Just to watch the Lakers. No, it's crazy. Just to watch the home team. Well, Netflix about to have Tyson, motherfucker.
Starting point is 01:55:33 I wonder how many people are going to tune in to that. I just want to see the numbers on that. Is it pay-per-view or you just got to sign in? I think you just have to have a Netflix account. Oh, yeah. If it's Netflix, then you're going to have Netflix special plus, plus, plus. See all the secret shit. They got ads on there now.
Starting point is 01:55:49 They got secret shit on the back end. Sign in, forget, just be in charge. Set in and forget it. All right, but on the subject of shooting threes, Anthony Edwards has become a legit three-point threat this season. So Edwards has attempted 253 total field goals with 137 of them coming from deep for a 54% three-point rate. And is currently shooting 42%.
Starting point is 01:56:15 Wait, he's shooting, so 54% of his shots is threes this year? 54% of his shots so far this season are three-point attempts. So currently shooting 42% from deep. It was higher. He's had a recent stretch that we're going to get into. He's making 4.8 of his 11.4 three-point attempts. So Ant currently shooting 42% from deep. It was higher. He's had a recent stretch that we're going to get into. He's making 4.8 of his 11.4 three-point attempts per game.
Starting point is 01:56:30 But recently, Ant had this to say to critics of his long-range game. Ant, what would you say to somebody who said you're shooting too many threes? Fuck them. Simple, yeah. God bless Anthony Edwards. Never get a PR team Ant
Starting point is 01:56:45 we need the raw unfiltered Ant so after the Wolves beat the Blazers last week Ant shed some light into why he's opted to take so many more threes this season Mike be trying to tell me get downhill and I'm like bro they going under you know what I mean I work on my game too much
Starting point is 01:57:02 to try to force going downhill they can keep going under so I'm going shoot that i'd really be surprised at this point like i made like two threes in the first quarter today and then in the third they just i came out and made one and they kept going under i'm like all right i'm gonna keep showing this pitch like what they doing but i'm gonna keep shooting and you are like leading the league i'm not just so high like at some point you have to think it'll shift. I mean, I don't know. I'm happy. I hope they keep going under. I'm going to keep lacing that pitch. As you heard the reporter ask, at some point, you've got to think it's going to shift.
Starting point is 01:57:33 No, it's not. So at that point, Ant was shooting 48% from three after that game. But since making that comment, the Wolves have lost three straight games. Back-to-back losses on the road to that same Blazers squad. Including a 14-point loss Tuesday night in their NBA Cup opener. He's doubled his three-point attempts.
Starting point is 01:57:54 And was 0-9 in the game last night. In his last three games, and is 8-for-33 from deep, which is 24%, and 26-for-68 from the field, which is 38%. But I ask you, esteemed basketball knowers, any issue with Ant shooting so many threes?
Starting point is 01:58:13 Yeah. Because they're giving it to you. You're not as a threat when you're not going downhill and dunking and putting fear in the big man. I'm going under to make you settle. There's too much settling. And he just said it. He said he gonna keep shooting, so they gonna keep doing it.
Starting point is 01:58:30 Yeah, he's approaching his mindset like... I respect his mindset, but it's backwards. Like, they're going under because they don't want you to do what you lead at. I don't want you to dunk on them. So we gonna let you settle for threes, and that's not helping your team win. It's not.
Starting point is 01:58:44 And you might feel good because you're making a good percentage, but it's not equating to wins, and now you're not playing the game that everyone loves about you. Like, we want to see you in the lane. We want you to dunk on people, give energy, and when you just settle in for threes, you're not doing that. Wolves are currently 6-6. I don't
Starting point is 01:59:07 get the thought press sometimes. They're going under because they're trying to beat you to the basket. You think they're going under so you can shoot the jumper. I want you to. We went under Rondo so Rondo can shoot it.
Starting point is 01:59:24 Rondo was just smart enough not to shoot. Like, you're going to keep backing up. I'm going to keep driving. Keep going back. Now I'm making a layup. So I think he needs to like really look at the game on what they're doing and understand that just because someone sags off doesn't mean take that open shot. I want I don't want to go here. I can't guard you Guard you bro, so I'm gonna back up and you shoot then I can contest late
Starting point is 01:59:55 I did a good job like you're you doubled your three-point attempts, but you're only averaging two more points Yeah, it's not worth it That does it because if you're shooting more threes that means you're not getting to the free-throw line and you're only averaging two more points. So it's not worth it. Because if you're shooting more threes, that means you're not getting to the free throw line and you're not getting, like you're taking away from something that was guaranteed before. So if you're still shooting the same amount of free throws, then doubling your threes,
Starting point is 02:00:18 you will be averaging about 30, 31, but you're only averaging two more points, taking five to six more threes So that means you're taking away from something so I don't have to look at what you're taking away but if you're taking that many more shots into your shooting percentages down or you're You're not shooting as many free throws as you used to That's all that I can just look at the stats from that one even last man watching the game because I put money on
Starting point is 02:00:40 On the higher you're supposed to get it It was the blaster back to back. That's what I'm saying. I thought it was going to be a blowout, but he wasn't as aggressive. After you start missing the three, he wasn't even as aggressive no more. So, good to your point. Ant shot a career-high 6.4 free throw attempts last season. This year, he's shooting 4.7
Starting point is 02:00:58 free throw attempts per game. And the point you always make, obviously, analytics nowadays, we were talking about this before the show analytics Tells you shoot threes or shoot shots in the paint, but now you settle for those threes Yes, three is worth more than two. It's a big advocate of that, but you're not getting guys in foul trouble You're not you putting any pressure on the defense whatsoever I get it. It's so tempting. You could imagine coming off and somebody under you way back. You. You're going to shoot that. You're definitely shooting. I'm shooting that.
Starting point is 02:01:26 I ain't going to lie. I'm going to shoot it. You're going to shoot it. I'm going to shoot it because I believe I can make it. If you keep doing it, I might shoot it. But at some point, you're going to 0 for 9. You got to figure it out. OK, like Giannis had 17 free throws last night, right?
Starting point is 02:01:41 He only took two threes, which means he was inside the lane attacking. Now think about if he would took two threes, which means he was inside the lane attacking. Now think about, think about if he would have took threes, he wouldn't have had all those free throws. The free throws is guaranteed, damn near guaranteed. If you're shooting 80, 90%, that is a guaranteed point, right? So if I get to the free throw line 20 times, I'm going to have 17 points on free throws. You're taking that away for threes that you're 20 30 percent from 40 percent don't even matter And if you go under all you gotta't know what it is. There was respect in his overall game. If they keep going under, I'ma keep lacing that bitch. But what happens when you are not lacing that bitch?
Starting point is 02:02:30 That's what I'm saying. You're 0 for 9 from 3. You got to figure it out. But he young, though, so he's, what, 22? 22. He's gonna figure it out. He's still got a little more game. Somebody's just got to talk to him.
Starting point is 02:02:41 It seems like Mike Conley tried to talk to him. He's from Atlanta. He's going down here. He ain't listening. He Conley tried to talk to him. He's from Atlanta. He's going down here. Young Thug, he ain't listening. He's going down here, my guy. He's from Atlanta. Young Thug, baby. Y'all do.
Starting point is 02:02:53 Slime, baby. I'll tell you what. Three, four, less threes, I feel like. You don't got to stop shooting threes completely, but you got to get back to this game. But you got to be aggressive when you do it. I think he got to be an aggressive three-point shooter. And do you feel like, obviously, like you know for your shooting,
Starting point is 02:03:09 you're reliant too much on three-pointers, or do you try to mix it up and look for other ways to impact the game and score in other ways? People don't go under on me, so, like, they don't. So when they do, it's going up. And when I don't shoot it, when I don't shoot it, I get yelled at for not shooting it when they go under. Is that a good feeling?
Starting point is 02:03:28 I really haven't had that in life when a coach yells at you for not shooting. Yeah. But I'm like, what y'all want me to do? But, again, sometimes you do got to mix it up. You got to get your teammates involved. You got to make the right basketball play. And sometimes it is a scheme, like, go under. Like, we gonna take the three, settling for a three,
Starting point is 02:03:47 other than over what could probably guarantee a basket or a free throw or a foul. So you just gotta be smart and play the game within the game. That's the... Where's the game within the game? Like, I can see Dame, right? Dame usually takes a long three. Just to... Like, this is where Dame, right? Dame usually takes a long three. Just to see.
Starting point is 02:04:06 Like, this is where I'm shooting from today, which makes, like, oh, shit, I got to guard you there. Now when I do my pick and roll, I got the rest of the... Why so many pick and rolls, though? They're pick and roll guys. Like me, I'm attacking early. Like, I'm trying to get in the lane, get there. Now, like, you're on retreat.
Starting point is 02:04:23 So when I'm coming down and I sit there and go into my cat move, they back up. Now I can shoot my jumper. I hit two of those. Now I give you the heads and you come up. I can go by you. If I can get a deep, deep one off early, I'm going to take it just to let everybody know,
Starting point is 02:04:37 you got to come out here. And then it opens up the floor. Or set the pick and roll deeper down, I mean, closer to the room Inside the three-point line or at the three-point line where you got to go under and you soon that they'll need a nail What kind of bass body plan It's so simple Just straight line these dudes. Just straight line, dug a couple times.
Starting point is 02:05:07 Trust me, they're going to be backing like, you see how they're guarding Giannis? Giannis can shoot a mid-range jumper anytime he wants now. Man. Like, as soon as he touches the ball, they running, load up. He can just come, do one of those, and pull it every time. Thank the pick and roll. Everyone want to be a three-point shooter now. Everybody want to shoot them threes,
Starting point is 02:05:36 but are you putting in the work to be able to do it? Everybody want to be Steph, but don't see what Steph workouts look like. You know what? I think they need to start looking at history, today's history. Yeah. Like, look, just, they need to go around and look at everybody in the league, and then you're going to see players that's averaging the same as you
Starting point is 02:05:53 or damn near close to you, and they shouldn't be, but they're doing something you're not doing. Like, how much is DeMar averaging at this point in his career? 23, I think. 22. And we talked to DeMar a couple years ago on another program, and he was a solid three-point shooter, but he shifted more to... And that's why I can always respect DeMar, because he ain't never fall victim to this shit.
Starting point is 02:06:17 And he's like, yeah, I can shoot threes, but I feel more comfortable and confident in my middie, so I want to get to that. I'm not going to just... DeMar's taking two threes a game. He hasn't made a... Like, he doesn't have 0.8. He's averaging 23 a game.
Starting point is 02:06:32 Yeah. Straight twos and free throws. Just straight twos and free throws. That's really his whole game. Twos and free throws. Averaging seven free throws a game. For the end of his career, he's averaging six this year. Like, you have to study that.
Starting point is 02:06:47 There's a reason that he's averaging 23 just doing this. Now you add your athleticism and how much you touch the ball, what do you think you're gonna be averaging? Same thing with LeBron. He don't shoot all those threes. Look what he's averaging. You guys shooting 12 threes, four? That's that's eight possessions. You just just throwing just throwing to the rim
Starting point is 02:07:11 It's a different era though Tomorrow's different era, too. I Mean he's from the older every but that's the reason the older era still surviving They don't have to go I don't have the guard. I don't have to guard. I can just sit here. That's so fair. That is true. They don't have to guard much. Ooh. Yeah. Take the shot. If I have to guard Kyrie, I'm going to the free throw line. Please shoot a Ky. I know you can shoot,
Starting point is 02:07:34 but I don't want to be on SportsCenter. I don't want to be on SportsCenter today, man. DeMar, for his career, averages 1.6 three-point attempts. His high was 20, 17,18, 3.6 per game. He's averaging 21 for his career. Yeah. No. 2.1.
Starting point is 02:07:50 He was like, I called him three-pointers. I'm doing what I like to do. He was trying to shoot threes that year. I remember. He tried it. He wasn't bad at it, honestly.
Starting point is 02:07:59 He tried it in the draft. Rip Hamilton was a great three-point shooter. He just didn't shoot them. Rip Hamilton? Yeah. He just didn't shoot him. Rip Hamilton? Yeah. He just didn't shoot. Like, what I'm going to shoot,
Starting point is 02:08:08 you can't stop me from coming off this curl. They love that damn curl. You can't stop this curl, goddammit. People ask who the toughest person to guard. I used to say Rip Hamilton. Yeah. I used to hate running. You didn't even know he shot threes.
Starting point is 02:08:21 Man. I'm not shooting those. He came off them screens. Yeah. Let's keep this moving. We got one last thing before we get to mostly fans. We want to give a shout out to Sixers rookie, Jared McCain. So yesterday on the show, I said even without PG and Embiid, the Sixers had the chance to give the Cavs
Starting point is 02:08:37 their first loss of the season. They did? They did not, but they came close. They were close. They were valiant. They were diligent in their attempt to do so with a short staff squad. So McCain was given the keys of the office as a sixers without him being in pg who they've decided to apparently not play it back to back despite mb saying he want to play
Starting point is 02:08:55 in them but it's up to them so and obviously maxie out with the hamstring so mccain had 34 points which is the most by any rookie in the league this season. He was out there cooking. For those of us who were watching League Pass or streams, you might recall the former Duke guard was drafted 16th overall by the Sixers. So, McCain averaging 13.5 points per game this season. The most amongst rookies. I believe he's playing the 10th most amount of minutes per game, though, at 18.9. Obviously, he's a California guy, so we're gonna give him his centennial D to school
Starting point is 02:09:31 He's an Adidas guy It's always something good with the Jerry McCain look like the steal of the 2024 draft so far 16th pick Leading all rookies is going. You know what's so funny? He's a steal, but he's in a situation where he's not going to really get the opportunity. Like Pippen, Pippen was a steal in his draft, but if you're not going to play the kid, you're not going to see how good he is. Same thing with McCain.
Starting point is 02:09:59 He's a very solid basketball player. Knows how to play the game, knows how to play the game right. And he knows how to take over games. But he's sitting behind Maxie, right, who's up and coming star. So the fact that Maxie's young and Jared McCain is young, it would be hard to play, you know, Jared.
Starting point is 02:10:20 So unless you're going to play him at the one and the two, which could be beneficial to you later on But I mean we talked about the sixes big three yet to play a game all together Does he seem like a piece that you can plug in now give him more? Opportunities hurt and you know, he's gonna be available cuz he's young Any other making tick tocks? Man
Starting point is 02:10:44 Like the longer max he's out the the better it is for last night. What's so funny is just, like, the longer Maxie's out, the better it is for him because now he's carving out some time for himself. Exactly. That's the point I'm making. Then you have PG who may be in and out of the lineup. You're telling me you're not playing PG and then being an afterback. You got to give him minutes now. 34?
Starting point is 02:10:58 34, 10. But I was just saying, he's 34 and 10. Yeah. The thing that I see moving forward is they're going to realize McCain is a better point guard. So he's going to come in and they're going to slide Maxie. And Maxie will be
Starting point is 02:11:11 your shooting guard. Yeah. Like AI and Snow? Yeah. Like, Jared is a point guard, but he has the ability. Like, he's like a Chauncey Billups type,
Starting point is 02:11:22 but can score better. Damn. Two little guards, though?. Yeah, you can't do that I know okay, but Maxie is more of a scoring guard. Jer is more of a point. It's a it's a weird dynamic The one thing you don't want to happen I can tell you you this is... You going for trade. No, what happens is let's say Maxie don't come back and then Embiid and... I was about to say that. Paul George come back and then it's... They start winning. That shit look good. Maxie's going to be one of those guys like...
Starting point is 02:11:54 I might be on my way. We might can get some good pieces for a young fella right here. Mm. That's how that shit happens. It does happen like that. That shit happens like that. You'll be surprised. You'll be surprised. All it takes is a good week, and you'll be like,
Starting point is 02:12:11 this shit look better than I thought. Let's see how it looks. And then Embiid is like, yeah, yeah. They start messing with Max. Yeah, you look like you're a little still. It's a good time. Take a couple of weeks. Take a couple of weeks.
Starting point is 02:12:22 Especially new CBI. Am I getting traded? No, we would never trade you. Never trade. Breaking news, Shams. Max has just been traded. Oh, my God. As soon as you go into the office, like, no, we would never trade you, you just start packing your shit.
Starting point is 02:12:37 Just start packing your shit. You out of there. He's been traded to the Wizards. It's shit like that. He said to the wizards bad pigs Spirit some spirit tickets spirit airlines will get you from point A to point B. Oh, no more. They're going through I will not get on that flight now Big bro. Big bro. His plane's getting shot at. I'm getting that. They going to bang some Pepsi right now, man. They are. They are. I will not get on that flight now. Hell nah. They got the big seat.
Starting point is 02:13:10 What, their duty to win that? Getting shot at is crazy. Let's move on to MostlyFans. Presented by Underdog. As always, download the app, use promo code GIL, get up to $1,000 in bonus cash, plus a special pick-em. And also, make sure you fade or ride with Gil's partner packs. Ride with him, Gil.
Starting point is 02:13:28 I'm going to ride with you. I'm going to ride. I got $5. It's 13 minutes. I normally ride with you every time. 13 minutes. Derrick Jones messed up this past week. Two times.
Starting point is 02:13:39 13 minutes. I'm just, it's like 13 minutes. It just got to last 13 minutes. But you picked Derrick Jones two times this time. Who? You. Derrick Jones? Yeah, Junior. He won. He hit the last one. He did? Hell yeah, he hit. Yeah, Ingram fucked me.
Starting point is 02:13:52 Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, it was, it was. How he get four threes? What the fuck? What's wrong with you? Four threes. I went with you again. So our first question from underdog user G1234. Do you think we'll see a game where both LeBron and Bronny go for 20? Do you think we will see a game where both LeBron and Bronny go for 20?
Starting point is 02:14:17 She said 10 and 20. As an average, yes. Okay. LeBron dropped 40. I'm going to just listen. Okay. Brown drop 40. I'm going to just listen. It's over 20. Just in theory, cool, in reality, no. No.
Starting point is 02:14:30 Because there's not going to be a game where Ronnie James is playing that many minutes while his dad is on the court. Unless it's just something where it is set up for that. Like, all right, you're going to sit, you're going to sit, you're going to sit. Pops, you and your son is just going to play play today where they're both playing like 30 something minutes other than that If Bronnie is getting in the game at this point in time the game's over Where Bron don't even supposed to be in the game? Get to 20 points you already played Toronto twice so that would be the team didn't normally do it all and Detroit I wouldn't try to be the same. You to have the Wizards on the schedule Oh anything happen against the
Starting point is 02:15:09 Wizards anything is possible I could see 20 and 15 and like it Brian at the half guy 18 or some play five minutes in a it had it five my brother for Bronnie to score 20 he has to play the whole game. No. Because that's how he plays the game. He's got to start off the right way. No, I'm saying, like, him just playing. He's not going to get up enough shots to get to 20. He has to play, like, 48 minutes.
Starting point is 02:15:35 Like, I'm not subbing you out. If he come in the first half, make his first two threes, have, like, six or nine, and the blowouts start in the third. Oh, yeah, I could see it. Bronny's not taking that many shots from. You know how perfectly that has to go for that to happen? All he got to do is make his one shot. His mind changed.
Starting point is 02:15:53 Nah, he don't, like what I'm saying is, he don't look at the game that way. Like, he'll take a shot, and I score, and then he's like, okay, the next one, you score. And then, like, he's one of those everybody get a shot, like, five possessions, five people take a shot, and I score, and then he's like, okay, the next one, you score. And then, like, he's one of those, everybody get a shot. Like, five possessions, five people get a shot. So you ain't never got in the game, just got two wide open shots?
Starting point is 02:16:12 Me, I'm wide open, period. That's me. LeBron got it, pass it to you wide open, like, God damn. He might shoot. He might shoot it. And he make it. And it happened again. Just randomly.
Starting point is 02:16:24 And he hit it. Yeah, wide open, just randomly. And he hit it. Yeah, wide open. No, he going to make the extra pass. Like, I got a shot, you get a shot. This point where he wide open, though. I got a shot, your turn to get a shot. No, no, no. He's a fair dog.
Starting point is 02:16:35 He's like, you give Briony a cake right now. Just give him a cake and say, cut these slices. He going to look at everybody and say, all right, everybody going to get even slices. So, Gil, if we bring a cake out and you cut the slices, are we getting even slices? Gil, get half the cake. I'm going to cut y'all's slices.
Starting point is 02:16:51 All right, okay, boom, boom, boom. One, two, three, and I get the rest. Hell no. Y'all shit going to be even? I don't want none of your cake. You probably did some to it anyway. I'm just saying this. I'm cutting to the point where y'all are even.
Starting point is 02:17:07 You're pointing at it. And then I get half. I get whatever's left over. No, it's just he plays the game fair. No, no. If he make his first shot, it's mental. And I think the key to this question, though, from G1234, is he didn't say this season.
Starting point is 02:17:22 He just said, well, we see a game where both LeBron and Bronny. It don't matter. Could be next season. Could be the season after that. Could be your point six. It's a game where it's put for them to play together. If we don't play in the play-in and we solidify our spot, Bronny gonna get 21 games.
Starting point is 02:17:39 And Bron, that's when they gonna play all they minutes one game. And you got your daddy telling you to shoot. You're going to shoot that motherfucker. You're going to shoot that ball. I think James Brawny could get 20 points, but I don't know if he'll be in the same game. It may not be in the NBA.
Starting point is 02:17:54 We have the big three. We have other options. Brian to the G. In the Saudi Arabia. Brawny and Bra playing big three. Hey, come on over, Brian. All right, next question from underdog user edwaters1. Despite the Suns' hot start, they rank 20th in post points allowed.
Starting point is 02:18:12 Should they drop someone to sign Dwight Howard? Who? The Suns rank 20th in post points allowed. Should they drop someone to sign Dwight Howard? Post points allowed? Yeah, they need a Dwight. Bottom third of the league. If you win a guy, Isaiah Thomas, you could do to sign Dwight Howard? Post points allowed? Yeah, they need a Dwight. Bottom third of the league. If you win and got Izel Thomas, you could do that for Dwight.
Starting point is 02:18:30 Remember last year, they win and got Izel Thomas. They kept him on. They could do that for Dwight. I don't know. Somebody need a big like that. It's like the way the game is going and how they playing, you really don't need one. I mean, Nurkic is down there.
Starting point is 02:18:46 Do something. Yeah, Nurkic is getting fast, bro. Like, do something. Man, you need the white for Joker. Yeah, we do. I don't know if that's still going to work, man. You just need a body at Joker, fouls, a strong... And you know what?
Starting point is 02:18:59 That's what you need. You need a body at Joker. Joker is bigger than everybody in the league. Every big man in the league. You know what's funny is I don't know if they're looking at Dwight the way they're supposed to, but he's on Dancing with the Stars. A good show. And what I mean is he's mobile.
Starting point is 02:19:16 He's moving. He can move still. Right? So worst case scenario, right, someone plays well, but that guy's gonna play well anyway. But for the most part, you can see he still is mobile. He can still move side to side, he can still jump. Like, so that's a mobile guy
Starting point is 02:19:36 that you can actually use right now. So I wouldn't be surprised that somebody does look at that film and say, he's spinning, he's dancing. Okay, he's still really active. He's spinning, he's dancing. He's spinning, dancing. I love how you run that full circle.
Starting point is 02:19:54 Spinning, dancing, moving, shaping. Like, okay, he can. Picking her up. Like, why won't anybody sign Dwight? I don't know. Joker going to play against. You need it. You need him. Like, no one can stop Jokic. Wimby got a guard joker.
Starting point is 02:20:10 Chet, guard joker. Of course. Come on, man. They too little. Too little. Only big person is what? And Biggie? He hurt half the time. Come on, bird guard joker. Skinny. Seven foot. You think Dwight will be on a roster
Starting point is 02:20:25 or get a look by the end of this season this is a 10 day man I mean a lot of people gotta get hurt it was so funny it's gonna be a team that has a big guy that they get hurt and they pick him up it ain't gonna be a team that needs a big guy it might be over it might might be over. When they off you, they off you. Yeah, when they off you. He didn't get picked up last year? Playing in Taiwan, whatever he was at. Tough, tough point.
Starting point is 02:20:53 But that is the conclusion of our show. Lexi, we appreciate it as always for pulling up in the arena. Swaggy P, hope that license makes its way to the house sooner than later. I got to go. Nobody told you to switch? Schoolhouse. Nobody told you to switch? Nobody told you to speed, man.
Starting point is 02:21:12 A little deep low. Hey, speaking of that. A little deep low. A little deep low. You can come what you want. I can tell you this. Don't say nothing. I had a meeting last night about whether they're going to kick you out the community.
Starting point is 02:21:29 They still talk. They're trying to., they trying to... Yeah, man, you keep running them red... I didn't do that, no, no, no, no. I was like, man, listen, he can't read. Sorry, Mr. Charlie, I'm stopping at the top. I said he's colorblind, I said he's colorblind and he can't read. He's colorblind and he can't read. So you can't see his red, and you can't read, stop. Colorblind, I can't read. Yeah, that was it. And it was like, oh, we didn't know. Woo! What's up, man?
Starting point is 02:21:52 You know what I mean? What's up? I'm good now. They think I'm just crazy. I got to act like I'm crazy. Just normal. Just be normal. They good.
