Kendrick Perkins found himself in a heated situation at an AAU tournament this weekend involving his son's team. Let's take a look at the video if we can.

So, TMZ Sports attained video of the incident involving Perkins and a coach from an opposing squad during an AU game at the Trey Young Family Athletic Center in Norman, Ohio. Shout out to Trey Young. And the family I let her send her. What? He from Ohio? Or Oklahoma, excuse me. Norman, Oklahoma.

Trey is from Oklahoma. I was just so overcome by the video, Swaggy. Refusing my states. Perkins and the coach had to be restrained as they exchanged unpleasentries following a chippy game between their two squads. So Big Perk made an appearance on the Pat McAfee Show Wednesday to address the situation and give his side of the story. Well, in the tournament, it's a heated game, you know, 17 you.

They're going back and forth with them. We end up winning the game. All right, cool. Well, the other team, they have, they had this guy that's like seven foot, 400 pounds. Jesus. After the game, he comes and he body slams one of my kids that play for my team. So I stay seated. Then I get up because everybody running around the guys, the players, they're about to fight.

So as a responsible, you know, owner of the organization, I get up and I'm like, Hey, man, y'all need to chill. You know, X, Y, Z, I'm grabbing my players. I tell the coach of the other team, I'm like, hey, bro, get your players. I got mine. He pop off. And I ain't getting nothing. I ain't getting nothing.

Who the hell of you? I'm like, bro, just get your players so I can get mine. We can get up out of here. He said it. He got smart with me again. That's when I got pissed off. I'm like, I'm like, bro, who the hell are you talking to? Man, I'm talking to you.

So then all of a sudden, you know, boo, boo, boo, boo, boo, boo, boo, boo. Now, what people didn't see was after that, we had a little exchange, yeah, they held us back or whatever. They held them back, held me back. And then afterwards, we dabbled up. He said, my bad, I said my bad, and we kept it moving. Okay, so, Swaggy said that does happen at the AU tournament. So what's your thoughts on Big Park getting active at an AU tournament? It happens.

You know, when they see the NBA player on the other side, they try to get their little 15 minutes of fame. So I can see that happening. I was proud of my son being the first one to run to his teammate and help. So I got up like, hey, man, no, he ain't doing this. It's the bay. You got to make it out of here. You got to leave, be able to leave. Then the coaches, you know. What part of the base is why I guess? Oakland.

The town. And it's in the hood. Town business. Town business. They circling around, you know, like the old hood, high school games. It was all in there. Throwing up every sign. First they started off taking pictures, then it went from pictures to fuck you swaggy type.

I'm like, all right. It got real aggressive. It got real aggressive. I'm like, all right. Look at your picture, man. Your picture, man. Fuck you, no, for real. So I can see that definitely happening, for sure, for sure.

Happening just like that. So I commend Perk for not, you know, throwing no punches. He's a big guy. He could have threw these people off him if he really wanted action. I don't know, seven foot 400 pound. Center on the other side. The Y is on play now. A little bit exaggerated.

Far as, like, a lot of people that are at these AAU games and they see NBA players and they say a lot of slick stuff to them, you know, I just find it funny, you know, because that's just things that they do, like coaches and, you know, guys who are, if it's a coach, if it's a coach, If as a parent talking crazy as a Kendrick Perkinson or NBA players saying, oh, your career wasn't like this or like that, it's kind of really, you know, not relevant because, I mean, you know, I kind of look at people that are who are these AAU coaches that never did make it, that, you know, you have to live your life through other kids to make it. So, you know, a lot of these AAU coaches out here that never touched that hardwood floor on the NBA court, got to relax a little bit.

You know, if you didn't have jury across your chest, I think you kind of got to relax as an AAU coach. and just do your job and get your kids. Now, as far as AAU, I mean, AAU is life of death, man, to a lot of these kids. I mean, every week you've got to go out there and you've got to compete. And it's been life of death since I was 11 years old. So I know by the time you get 17, you know, you're going to college the next year. And like myself, I've been played at the highest level since 11 when it came to AAU. So this happens all the time.

This is nothing new. you know usually you know we see chairs getting thrown all type of things so this was kind of like well they had cameras back in a day yeah yeah yeah i mean ball is life and all that hoop mixtape all that stuff was still there um but no shout to perk and um yeah that's different nowadays though $20 for parking 20 $60 for a $20 for you got to be very very judicial you're not acting like you broke man but yeah back in the day you could just walk in the day you could just walk in Now they got making them shit all kinds of stuff. Now I ain't gonna front the parking park is $100.

Wrist bands parking for the weekend. I went to one. It was like a game for the weekend. Yeah, $100. Got multiple kids. They play at different gyms and you gotta pay each parking each. Teach your kid another sport. It's decreased parking in other sports.

Like, they don't let a kid, like, go up anymore. I've seen that. I think that's-talking about that. That's crazy. I think that's the most dumbest thing ever. Like, because you're playing freshman as varsity, right?

Yeah. Okay, so when you turned, when AAU came, did you play? your own age or did you play 17 and under? As a freshman in high school? Yeah. Shit, I was... I'm having my high school team too, man. No, I play 16s.

Okay, so you play 16? Because I was younger. I was, I went up. They had that back in the day? 16s. 16. Yeah, 16 and 16? Yeah, 16. It was 16. It was big. But Houston, who... Remember Houston who's back in the day? No, we played them. 15.

I played Perk. That's how I know Perk. Perk was in him and in the evening. If you were in varsity, you play everybody. You're talking about in high school, right? Yeah. So for your high school team, right, if you're 15, so as a freshman, long as you play varsity, you could play anybody, like, in the off season, in the tournament and all that. Yeah, but did you play in your age group or did you play up?

That's what I'm saying. So when you was 15, what age group did you play? It wasn't no age group, but I don't feel like. I played for the pumps. So what age group was that, though? I don't know. Yeah, yours was a little. You was 14. You had to be freshman year 14.

I didn't play my freshman year. So 15 was the sophomore year. Okay. So for me, my freshman year, I played varsity. When AAU came, I played 17 and under. I didn't go back down and play 14. Yeah. So that's what I'm saying. So they had 17 and under back in the day. So they went and got Brandon to play 17 because he was good enough as a freshman.

So even if they had the ABCD and all that back then. Yes. So they didn't have no age group for that. I thought it was like, you know, no, that's what I'm saying. Same shit. Yeah, but that's good. But the AAU tournaments are different where you can still, like, him being good enough to play with 17s would be cheating for him to play 15s. I'm about saying, could be.

Right, and that's what they do now. So if you're a freshman and you play varsity, they make you play your own age. So a 15 can't, they say it's a waste of time for him to play 17. Like Cooper Flag, like Cooper Flag playing against third guys. Taylor King, Taylor King. Shut off the Taylor King. He was in the eighth grade playing with us on the pumps against the last. Yeah, that's how good he was.

So that's what we're saying. That's why I didn't feel like it, I didn't know if it was like an age group, 16 and 100. Oh yes, no. Yeah, they have 16, then they have 17. The Atlanta Celtics, that always felt like an oxymor to me, but obviously a great A. U program. Man.

Let's move back to the NBA. Cavs reached the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time since 2018. And the first time with that. out LeBron since 1992, proceeded to get absolutely embarrassed in a sweep by the Knicks, started in game one when they blew a 22.4th quarter lead and got outscored 44-11 from that point on in that game, ended with a 37-point loss on their home floor with Knicks fans taking over the arena and chanting Knicks in four did not let Fadjo say courtside. So after Cleveland got eliminated, Donovan Mitchell had this to say.

No doubt that this group can get there. I've said that all year. I think the biggest thing is you just use as a learning lesson. It's a tough learning lesson. But now we know, right? I mean, that's not how I like to say things, but, you know what I mean? We know. You know what I mean?

And this team that we just faced had to go through this. Maybe not this way, right? But every day, they've been together. They've been a group and had to go through this tough experience. So this is our turn. And I'm sorry for the city of Cleveland for it to be like this in a sweep. That's ass. Like, you know what I'm saying?

Donovan Mitchell got out of the second round first time in his career. Cavs finished the playoffs with an 8 and 10 record, which was literally the worst possible record you could have

reaching the conference finals. But they played every other day since April 29th, so after their first two series both went seven games, heading into that conference finals. But as Donovan Mitchell admitted, the Cav's unfavorable postseason schedule was the result of then not being able to close out their first two series faster.

Hmm? Wow. What? number one option, got to the Eastern Conference Finals. Do you consider this Cavs season to be a success despite getting swept in that Eastern Conference Finals? No. I'm not going to call it success because they went all in to try to make a finals run by trading

Garland, who was younger, and they went and got James Hardin. So they didn't reach the finals. So, no, it's not a success. Donovan Mitchell also didn't show that he's a number one option on a championship team because he just let James Harden. he was looking to James Harden for to take over and this is his team. And that's been the biggest, the biggest thing we've been talking about since day one since I've been on here. And you want to be a superstar and you want all these things.

But when it comes down to it, you over here looking at James Hardin. If I'm the Cleveland Cavaliers, they're probably going to extend James Hardin, which, I mean, I will let them walk. I would probably trade, I'm looking to trade everybody at this point because we're in a position where we're in a position where we can't do anything. Our future is cooked. We have the highest pay row. So we're just kind of looking like it's time to rebuild at this point now because if we run it back next year, well, Detroit's going to be better. The Knicks are going to be better. Depending on where Yanis go, if he stay on the east, you better hope he, if he go to Miami, they're going to be better. The Celtics are going to be better. The Hornets, the Hawks. So all these teams are going to be

better. So if you're looking for the future, the future. is cooked. Like they're really, they just really just cooked themselves and going to the Eastern Conference Finals getting swept, I mean you didn't show anything. So we, you know you're not going to get back there next year because teams are coming back better. So I think they're cooked. If I'm looking at the Cuban Cavaliers, I'm trying to rebuild and I'm not giving Donovan Mitchell an extension. And if you do, then you're going to have to try to go find a number one option and I don't even think you can do that. So go ahead. Yeah. Some harsh criticism right there.

Yeah. So we have some breaking news, obviously. The tanking reform. So NBA border governors voted to expand the lottery and address the tanking problem. So tanking become a major issue in the NBA. Bottom, third of the league appearing to be actively engaging, tricking off games to improve their lottery odds. But for the first time in league history, there were eight different teams with 55 plus losses.

Also saw the most 30-point blowouts in league history this season. So recently, League revealed a new anti-tanking reform being dubbed the 3-2-1 lottery. League governors voted on that today and approved it. So the new reform seeks to stop teams from deliberately losing games to improve their hopes of landing a top draft pick. So let's take a look at some of the initiatives under this proposal. The lottery would expand from 14 to 16 teams, including. a relegation zone where the bottom three teams would get penalized with fewer lottery balls for the number one pick.

Teams that don't make the playoffs or plan, but stay out of the relegation zone would each get three lottery balls. No team will be allowed to win the top pick in two consecutive drafts or get a top five pick in three straight drafts. And teams cannot protect picks in the 12 to 15 slots. Worth records would have three lottery balls each and an 8.1.1% chance at the number one pick. Teams with the NBA's bottom three records and the 11th through 14th worst records would have two balls each and a 5.4% shot at the number one overall pick. a 2.7% shot at the number one pick. So on a recent competition committee call, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said we should have a system where you should have to lose. It shouldn't be a badge of honor. Losing should be uncomfortable. Under this new system, Silver would also be able to directly penalize teams for tanking,

including fines up to $10 million, forfeiting or removing first-round picks, reducing lottery odds for the number one pick, suspending front office executives, and in extreme cases, altering a team's draft position. So this initiative is looking to start with a 2027 draft run through 2029

with reevaluation after that. So, shall start with you, is the league spitting or tripping with the anti-taking draft lottery reform that just got approved by the Board of Governors? Because it's like you look at teams that were tanking this year, like Utah and Dallas, and to lose that integrity amongst the fans and try to figure out what you want to do based on your GM and the people you hire in the front. in office can't get the job done. You're not acquiring the right free agents. Then you go out there and lose on purpose to try to get a draft pick. That's a younger guy that's already, you already got a bunch of young guys. You're getting more young guys and you're going to be losing in the future because you've got young guys and you're waiting on them to pan out like an OKC or one of these younger teams that's done it the right way. I think that if you put the right people in place. for the executives, you'll get better outcomes.

And that's usually the reason why teams continue to lose and they're a graveyard because they keep hiring the wrong people in the positions that need to put talent in.

And so now you're dealing with tanking. And the owners are taking the hit for it. So I think the owners need to make better decisions of who they put in position to hire people.
