Gil's Arena - The NBA Draft Sparks The BIGGEST Crash Out In Gil's Arena

Episode Date: June 26, 2025

Gil's Arena Previews The 1st Round of The NBA Draft as Gilbert Arenas & The Gil's Arena Crew break down a HUGE night for the NBA as they welcome in the next class of future superstars. They highlight ...the biggest star of the night in Cooper Flagg as the Duke phenom looks to join the Dallas Mavericks as the #1 pick and react to NBA legends like Allen Iverson and Kendrick Perkins calling him a generational hooper before he even sets foot on an NBA Court. They also continue the conversation on Ace Bailey skipping pre-draft workouts and get real on how his decision to try and pick where he will play could cause him to slip in tonight's draft. Next, they react to The Boston Celtics continuing to purge their championship roster after trading Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holiday in back to back days to get under the NBA's 2nd Apron and debate if the C's should continue their teardown with another big move of trading Jaylen Brown or Derrick White or let this team try and compete until Jayson Tatum returns from his torn achilles. They then react to Kyrie Irving agreeing to a longterm extension to remain with the Dallas Mavericks as he rehabs from his torn ACL and debate if Nico Harrison will get the last laugh from the Luka Doncic trade as his team is set with a core of Cooper Flagg, Kyrie and Anthony Davis for the next few seasons, before examining the Kevin Durant trade from the perspective of the Phoenix Suns and discussing the team's next move to try and build around Devin Booker and Jalen Green. Finally, the Gil's Arena Crew crashes out on Stephen A Smith's list of Top 5 players for next season and gives their own breakdown of the best players in the NBA next season. Starting point is 00:08:39 Swaggy. I just got done talking to you about you morning drinkers. The rest of the crew. It ain't morning, it ain't morning. All right, no black. It's happy hours somewhere. Swaggy. I just got doors cold about you morning drinkers the rest of the crew They morning they morning. I know black. It's happy out somewhere They're bad at all. It is in New York right now Draft day. Hey wait, that's brunch. That's like a mimosa It wasn't bad. It's a mimosa shot. No, that wasn't bad though. Let's get into a little basketball
Starting point is 00:09:03 So after winning the chip in 2024 Boston Celtics kept their top nine rotation players this season in a quest to repeat his champs. But that quest to repeat turned to defeat with Boston losing Jason Tatum to a torn Achilles and get eliminated by the Knicks in the second round. So with their new ownership groups fakes in the prospects of a combined payroll and luxury tax bill, exceeding $500 million next season. The fire sale is underway. Monday, the Celtics traded Drew Holliday to the Blazers
Starting point is 00:09:28 for Anne Simons and two second round picks. And Tuesday, they made another move in a three team trade, shipping Chris Stops, Porzingis, and a second rounder to the Hawks for George Niang and a second rounder of the Nets got Terrence Mann and the Hawks' 22nd pick in this year's draft as a part of the deal. So the Holliday and Porzingis trade saved the Celtics 180 million in luxury
Starting point is 00:09:48 tax while getting them out of the second apron. So good move for the Celtics to blow up the roster to get under the second apron. Yeah, she knew all my new owners, man. They they pay for all this. Yeah, you should listen. Hey, this was them. Mm hmm. They they paid y'all. This ain't got nothing to do with me.
Starting point is 00:10:07 This ain't got shit to do with me. Mm-hmm. I ain't as nice as old boss. Yeah, you know what I'm saying? I ain't nice, but I'll come down there and slap the black off you. Two moves, two days, doing their five starters. Oh, they ain't done. They ain't done.
Starting point is 00:10:24 Yeah, they lost one of their best players, so they got to do something. And we all knew if they didn't win it this year, I always felt like they were going to make moves. Yeah, but didn't we say something was weird when they won a championship supposed to be going back to back and they sold the team? You remember we were talking about that earlier? It was weird, but shit, it was strike wise hot though. I know, but we were talking about if you own a back to back,
Starting point is 00:10:52 that's a bigger strike. That's a bigger strike. So why would y'all sell now? Is something going on? So. I think $6 billion deal at that point, I wanna say was the largest sale in sports before you let your sold for value of 10 billion.
Starting point is 00:11:04 You spent $6 billion, at the fact that you spent $6 billion, sale. Yeah, it's before I mean, you sold you just provide you 10 billion. At the fact that you spend 6 billion, you don't want to have a salary cap of what you have. So obviously, you put all the motherfuckers on sale is hotcake time. Mavs obviously sold as well shot. I said Lakers 10 billion. Valuation it together. What's going down? Put it all together. Who who and who sold what? Big market teams around the same time. Things to make you say, hmm. Boston sells. Lakers sold. Majority ownership they'll still retain.
Starting point is 00:11:46 Mark Cuban let it go. Also sold a majority ownership. That's the real question. To the Sands Corporation. Some shit going on somewhere. Or is it just a new era? Or is it with the Adam Silver saying some shit? Make these moves because it's boring out there.
Starting point is 00:12:03 They don't like the way we're playing. We need to shake shake shit up or make it some moves. Or they can be just like Kenny Martinson. Got this shit for free. I inherited this shit for free. That's a free ten billion dollars right there. Right? You spent the money. To him, it's free, he can sell it for whatever he wants. That's Jenny Buss. It's a free 10 billion for her.
Starting point is 00:12:28 It's not like she... You know what I mean? Most of these guys think about when they bought the team versus, you know, so it's really all profit for them. So... Still get to go to the games and enjoy them. When you get off those assets you always wanted to get off of, you don't have to get blamed for it now.
Starting point is 00:12:48 We can make moves that we should have made, and he going to take the heat because he ain't no no better, but he's the new guy, so he going to get over it. We can take two years to get past that because we're going to bring in some real guys. But the shit going to be shaken up. Why would a president get to go from there to there? Unless some shit was going on. Yeah it does. You don't know about. I showed you that shit. It's a lot of other shit going on too. Do you feel like these teams are maybe
Starting point is 00:13:13 being overvalued so these owners are looking, previous owners are looking, saying shit let me get the bread now for everybody. Looks under the hood, figures out what's really going down. No, just the 10 billion for the Lakers is... That's too much? I don't know. That seems like a down. No, it's just the 10 billion for the Lakers is. That's too much. I don't know. That seems like a lot. You see, it seems like a lot.
Starting point is 00:13:29 Yeah, 10 billion. How much did Bomber pay? Two. How much did they buy? He reset the whole market obviously with the Donald Sterling situation. I don't think he did at all. Do you think about the two franchises,
Starting point is 00:13:38 the Lakers would be 10 to two? Should be eight billion more. Yeah. You know what I'm saying? At the point when he bought them for two billion teams, we're like 500, 800 million right now. 100%. Like, Wizards sold for what, 250, 300? It was the lowest sales since. But you see that as a landmark real estate right there
Starting point is 00:13:57 for Bomber. He's like, even though it's in LA and I might get it for this, it's going to be valuable because we look who we're beside. Exactly. What's so funny is he can resell right now and get $8 billion. Yeah, but that was for sure. He bought it for $2 billion. That became the whole conversation.
Starting point is 00:14:10 For sure. Right now, flip it. Just because of that evaluation of $10 billion. Like, God, we can get that too. No, these are building the land. It don't look like it's just good business. That's all this has ever been. It's business.
Starting point is 00:14:23 It's NBA moving. They ain't moving inside the business to their body business. The Laker. He bought the team. How much six who bomber six, no, no, like 60 million 65 back in the day along with the white. I mean his daughter got it for zero. She inherits it. So it's zero dollars for her. I'm 10 billion or 10 billion. Yeah, that was the talk when bomber bought the Clippers for two of the Clippers were two then what are
Starting point is 00:14:43 the Lakers were what are the Yankees were, you know, what are all theseber bought the Clippers for two. If the Clippers were two, then what are the Lakers worth? What are the Yankees worth? What are all these other franchise, the NFL franchise as well? So reset the whole market. These are the conversations fans don't wanna have because they don't wanna admit that this is a business. So when we talking about your team wanna win, no they don't.
Starting point is 00:15:00 I've had this conversation with the owner. If I give you a team for 10 years, guarantee you five rings in 10 years, you profit $500 million or 10 years of the same team and it's two billion, which one do you take? Two billion. All day. He said the five rings, he said the five rings is for bragging rights amongst my peers. That's all that is. I'm under two billion.
Starting point is 00:15:29 It's a business. In theory, those rings would impact team valuation decreases, but you also got to pay for parades, all that other. He said it cost money to win chips. This is when Boston won. He said Boston made zero profit because of how much they spent on KG, all of them. How much you think it costs them to put on parades outside? That's awesome to ask.
Starting point is 00:15:50 Say, $4.50 to $6.50. That's awesome to ask. Yeah. How much does it cost to put on a parade? It shouldn't cost nothing. A parade? The city should pay for it, right? The city should not pay for that shit. What does it cost? You got to get these two buses. Motherfucker, this is where we going.
Starting point is 00:16:02 Come outside. What? You'll be riding around. Yeah, you motherfuckers drive your own cars. Let the windows down. Wait. These two buses motherfucker this where we going Donate some convert Cycles off Shit do no fucking parade. They really don't want to. Go buy some motherfucking power, them streamers and the shit. Ten dollars.
Starting point is 00:16:33 Ten dollars. Where they say, ho. The rain don't get off. Warriors spend like four mil on their parade. Some teams are cheaper. I'm just letting you know. That's pointless. That's pointless.
Starting point is 00:16:43 That's on the parade part of it. That's pointless. That's such thing as bad. That's my point, though. So to win that there's something that's on the parade part of this There's such thing as so what's the money that's my point though? So to win that chip you gotta pay on that bread such thing as if you had only a bad owner a bad owner You can use their money. I mean it depends on what you miss management of the business men sin Did not depend so yes, what's your looking for your point? And we're looking at a good on We're looking for a good owner that's making good business as far as what?
Starting point is 00:17:08 As far as what? The evaluation y'all talking about, as far as what's a good price point for a team. It just depends on when, where, and what they do. It depends on what you're considering. History, and all that matters, I think. So as an owner, what am I valuing? You said that the rings in comparison to the money.
Starting point is 00:17:36 So just, did the Bus family own the land that the Staples and Crypto is sitting on? I don't think Staples and Crypto want to say they own the farmland. The farmland. They own the farmland. We ain't if you bought it. So with Dolan, right, he owns the land that Madison Square Garden is sitting on.
Starting point is 00:17:59 You know what I'm saying? So that's why it's worth that. But then the land is makes it just as point was the you said it under your breath. You said so subtly that it didn't hit as hard as it should have. But that winning championships does increase the evaluation. It should. That's right. It should. That's why in theory, the 10 billion is 10 billion for the Lakers. It's because it's attached to legacy, right?
Starting point is 00:18:25 Everything else, we're saying, I'm gonna take the two billion because it's more than the legacy. But when the evaluation hits, I made my money back, but my evaluation is not gonna be higher than that, which I would have championships attached to it. It could have been. So for me, I think that the evaluation
Starting point is 00:18:45 the owners have been doing has been taken the wrong way. As if, like I said, bad owners. If there could be a bad owner, he could be making bad decisions by making that decision, taking the money over to Legacy because it's immediate, because he's a gambler or he's a risk taker. He wants immediate ROI. But to me, I'm like, I look at the guys who
Starting point is 00:19:04 took those chances with Legacy. They last longer and they cashed out with more. taker he wants to mediate ROI but to me I'm like I look at the guys who took those chances with legacy they last longer and they cashed out with more. I did but these two franchises that sold Boston the only one who don't have multiple championships in that is Dallas right Boston sold for six this sold for ten they have the most championships in sports. So that's that Boston The market lines up so market for I mean, what if Milwaukee had five champs? Is would that change? No, would they sell for six evaluation? No, we change for sure. I don't think they were self for six for eight. No, they wouldn't no they wouldn't The evaluation would change from where it is.
Starting point is 00:19:45 It would not. No, I'm just saying. The market is the market. It's the market. Like, so if it's the market, then the owners who are actually playing that money game, should they be playing that money game if you're not in a big market? Yeah, because it's still a business for them.
Starting point is 00:20:00 It's still a business. Like, a lot of them dudes, that's like second, third, like third business that they like, so it ain't. A lot of them dudes that's like second third like they third business that they like so So to make winning not a priority is they don't care like so for a long time doling this was so long There you go. So you say what I'm gonna say so doling for a long time Was considered that bad owner that you speak of right as an owner as an owner bad owner that you speak of right as an owner for as an owner among owners publics amongst owners and in the public no no no I'm saying but towards everyone else yeah bad owner who's a bad owner besides the other owners so because of
Starting point is 00:20:33 how he did how he ran it right it was a fucking business it was you know it was a it was a hobby for him right to say that I got this and this is my new toy this is my toy what y'all gonna do? And the owners loved how he was doing it, going about it. But amongst the public, everybody thought, what the fuck is he doing? So he was looked at as that, but
Starting point is 00:20:58 I had this conversation with him. I think because it's New York City, I can do this. It's New York City eats off itself So I don't have an incentive other than just to play around if you was winning That's what I was about to say if he has a championship Does it that change not only his pedigree his mentality but the valuation now? New York City on its own is valued at this imagine when they win. Oh, yeah Now use our imagination. It'll be more definitely.
Starting point is 00:21:26 You know what I'm saying? It definitely will be more but it's just that hasn't been the New York sold itself for what 810 billion. So I know they'll go 810 right now. York New York ago 910. Yeah with no ring with no ring. Yeah, for sure. Right.
Starting point is 00:21:42 So the valuation if they won will go higher than that. But the Celt Yeah, for sure. So the valuation, if they won, would go higher than that. But the Celtics go for 6.1. That was the highest, I think, sports franchise sales. They have more than the Lakers. See, that's what I'm saying. But the Lakers go for 10. The Lakers is a bigger market. But now the Knicks jump up.
Starting point is 00:21:56 It beats the, it takes away the whole theory of winning. Because when Clippers won, I mean, when Clippers sold at $2 billion, that was them near triple of any franchise that was worth that much. They ain't got no championship. They ain't got no championship. They got no playoff win. They got no...
Starting point is 00:22:12 And that's because they knew they jammed up Baller. Baller wanted to be the owner of the NBA. They were willing to take that risk. That wasn't because they were worth that. It was he was willing to take that. He was willing to go in, I'll take that. His sports fans, basketball fans, sports fan, whatever whatever he is first he got the money to do it for two. And it's LA. And it's LA. Why wouldn't I take this chance. The flippers are now valued at five point five
Starting point is 00:22:33 billion dollars so that too is already double more than double. As of March 20th Cowboys number one franchise is worth 16 billion dollars. Goddamn. And when was the last time they won? America's team. You feel like Michael Jordan was a good owner? He couldn't have been. There's no proof. To who? That's what I'm saying. You gotta think about you and the public. You and the public is two different opinions. You tell me, I bought it. I bought if I bought a team for five, four hundred million
Starting point is 00:23:11 and I sold for how much? Jordan. Like just take it. Whatever it is. I sold it for billions. In the business community, I'm a winner. It's like the end of the faces, right?
Starting point is 00:23:24 I'm a winner. Like the end of the Pacers, right? I'm a winner. Like, the Indiana Pacers... Three billion, I believe, is what he's talking about. Whatever the Indiana Pacers sell for right now, it's a win. It's a win. Whatever it was, they would... Because whatever they bought it for, whatever it is... It was like dirt cheap back then.
Starting point is 00:23:39 So let's shift this back to the Celtics Hawks. Portsinga. Portsinga like buying the franchise, right? Portsinga shipped to the Hawks now. Soks now so we're doing play 65 games with the Wiz in the 22 23 season 57 the next year with the Celtics 23 24 and that championship run believe he was dealing with with a leg injury and that and 42 games this past season while he was dealing with a mysterious illness that they still haven't quite put their finger on so he played a 70 games one time in his career and that was his rookie year with the Knicks.
Starting point is 00:24:09 Was it fair to say that Porzingis run in Boston was disappointing or underwhelming? Based on that move. To who? He got a ring. I mean, they got something out of it. Yeah, they want a ring. They want a championship. Championship show while he was there.
Starting point is 00:24:23 I don't know whether he played a big part of it or not. He was out there for some of it. So you got a ring. He has a ring. They want a championship. A championship, sure, while he was there. I don't know whether he played a big part of it or not. He was out there for some of it, so you got a ring. He has a ring, so I don't know how you could... Yeah, it all depends on what you value. Yeah. That's a question for him. Average 19 to game this season, I think shot a career-high 42% for three in the games
Starting point is 00:24:41 he did play, but largely ineffective in the postseason. Again, it's for him. What is he seeking? Is he seeking a ring at that moment in time? Is he seeking a career? What is it that all depends on that player? Because when his career is done, that's all he has is his memory. So we can't say it was a disappointment if he got there, they won a ring.
Starting point is 00:25:03 Whatever he did in his 65 games help them get closer. I mean So back to the Celtics two of their five starters now traded obviously Tatum be down some extended time But according to report by Shams Celtics phones are ringing off the hook with teams inquiring about Jalen Brown and Derek White While Boston is listening to offers they aren't expected to make a move with either player unless they get an offer that they can't refuse. So you think the shelter should keep blowing up the roster or let this group hold it down until Tatum's return. Brother you've been a back page.
Starting point is 00:25:37 I have not guilt but this is right now. This is a front page. You from being that back page. I'm not back. This is like a it's like imagining like front page. You're front page, you're not back page. I'm not back page. This is like, it's like imagining like back page, you got the irregular prices and then somehow they, it's Black Friday. All right, so all those people on there is damn near,
Starting point is 00:25:58 they open, they listen to whoever wanna throw some money at it. And that's what's going on. Like, the talk is out that they are willing to break up the whole team, right? And everybody's calling and that's what's been going on. It's a fire sale. It's, you know, put it on the market.
Starting point is 00:26:17 Let tell me what you want. Who you want? Who you want? You want? Hey, what you got for me? Huh? And that's that's all that's going on right now. They're not trying to win no more. They don't care even the injured Jason Tatum. Yeah
Starting point is 00:26:28 Like even a even an injured Jason Tatum can go can go right now Somebody and somebody throw the right shit at them right now Yeah Absolutely, if somebody was smart and say hey, I would Absolutely. If somebody was smart and said, hey, listen. I would. Me knowing it's his right foot and it's not his jumping foot, so he should be fine. 80% he's going to be fine and back to normal because it's not his dominant leg.
Starting point is 00:26:56 I'd throw off right now. Knowing that, okay, this year, next year, probably gone, but you know. I'm true. Cool. You might give me something for it. You be like oh he's injured, he's done. And then I can give you some bullshit for him. So you say, I don't wanna say the Celtics are throwing in the towel but if you look around the Eastern Conference
Starting point is 00:27:13 the landscape right now, Halle's gonna be out extended time. New owners man, they don't give a fuck. This is new for them. It's the same thing like with the Bucs. When the Bucs won the championship, they got the new owner, they came in. Drew you out here like they they don't
Starting point is 00:27:27 My way, yeah, who are we like him he stay but Never in my life seen a nigga move into somebody house and they got a furniture up there and keep it the same way Yeah. And all these drapes. It's turkey, you know. You can take these drapes off and you can take this bed with your god damn, you can take these leather couches, god damn it. I got my own. You come in with your own shit.
Starting point is 00:27:51 There's going to be people fired. Somebody else, like you said, when somebody get remarried, right? The new woman come in, she like. Old bitch like that. Yeah, absolutely. You should just tell her. Yeah, let's know. Even if she like this shit.
Starting point is 00:28:03 Yeah, yeah. This is nasty. it's nasty. This is nasty. I would never. I would never. I would never. Listen. I would never.
Starting point is 00:28:13 This is the taste you have to know. I would never. That's coming up for sure. And you live with her with this? Oh, that's what I was doing then. When you go on her Instagram and look at the same shit. It's called furnished. This is furnished, baby.
Starting point is 00:28:21 Oh, that's what I was on? Ain't no bringing your own furniture here. Yeah, it is. You're not gonna be here that long, baby. It's gonna be a good one. It's gonna be a goodished. This is furnished, baby Oh, that's not a real Not gonna be here that long, baby, you're not even gonna be here long and joy Just put that shit in the dishwasher you're not supposed to touch nothing Trying to put new knobs on their cabinets. Asking questions and shit.
Starting point is 00:28:47 Not new knobs. Yes, yes. You can't keep the knobs. Yeah, she touched them. Mm-hmm, she touched them. She use them regularly. No, no, they can't. Right on this toilet?
Starting point is 00:28:55 Yeah, after. Oh, yeah, we need to get all of them. New toilet seat? Yeah. Shower head, I don't know why this rain shower. Like, all of it gotta go. Football's going through right now. Hey, listen, hey, unfortunately,, sorry Celtics fans. This is
Starting point is 00:29:09 writing on the wall We say something about this Did we say something about this and we say these niggas could go if they don't win them Yeah, I was gonna ask you if the cells could still be content We say something about them niggas can go if they don't win them like they supposed to win them. They looking up They're gonna be like hey I'm just saying Turn the lights off the washer. We don't know who ship this is. We don't know what's going on. Hey, man
Starting point is 00:29:40 Listen, we saw who got farmers MVP. I said yes I mean all the people that work said yes. All the fans. I mean all the people that work in it. They didn't go as they thought. 300 million. Yeah, we're gonna build Black Wall Street up here. Okay. Super Mac.
Starting point is 00:29:56 Okay. Okay. This is not going to last very long. Not in White Town. This is not going to last very long. I said I'm gonna roll with you till you get the championship but nigga after that we going to New York. We going to New York.
Starting point is 00:30:09 Like Wall Street. Hey man, hey, send his ass to Memphis. Utah. Right to Utah. I bought his shoes and everything. I said, Jameel, go buy these shoes where they take them out of stock and shit. They gonna stop selling them and all kinds of shit. Cause he ain't trying to do some shit he ain't making money. I bought his shoes and everything. I said, Jalen's gonna buy these shoes where they take them out of stock and shit
Starting point is 00:30:26 They gonna stop selling them and all kinds of shit cuz he ain't trying to do some shit you ain't supposed to do Well, let's shift over to the Hawks side now the Hawks get Port Zingas for Zingas on the last year's deal thing making 30 million this year like I mentioned played a limited amount of games But average 19 points shot 42% from through when he was healthy Still trying to figure out what's going wrong with him Hawks were a playing team last season Can now roll out a starting five with T. Hawks were a playing team last season, can now roll out a starting five with Trey Young, Dyson Daniels, Reese Ashae, Jalen Johnson, and Port Zingas.
Starting point is 00:30:50 How much does Port Zingas move the needle for the Hawks and what should be a weaker than weak Eastern Conference this next season? So they lose both of their other bigs, so Clint Capella and- A Congo student. A Congo, so no, put Port Zingas ass on the bench. Play the young boy, man.
Starting point is 00:31:07 Oh, no, no, Jalen Johnson got to play. No, but that's, he would be in the starting five. He would be in the starting five with a congoo. No, you put, if it's a healthy Porzingis, he start at the five. No, yeah, he gonna start at the five. If it's healthy. Because he spread the ball.
Starting point is 00:31:22 With three young knees, pick and roll and run. Jalen Johnson running and rolling? No, Jaylin Johnson, yeah. No, I mean, now you got both. Yeah, you got spread. That's a hell of a... Yeah, I don't trust Brazilian, so... I mean, we're talking if he's just healthy.
Starting point is 00:31:34 If he's available to play? That weird shit, that overseas shit he got put in his system, we don't know about the... We don't know what's going on with him. Just imagine he's healthy, you got two of them rim running. I got you Okay, I think I can shot some shit. I didn't Internet has some theories I will not share them here on this show, but they're not good theories. They're not
Starting point is 00:31:58 Theory it can't be magic. It can't be the magic Because I talk about Orlando. You got that if you got that going on you You have to actually let all the NBA players know Okay, well that's You got you got for you for your force to let everybody know and they have to vote I mean that's a thing but my question for you guys with this move that the Hawks get more competitive in a weaker Eastern conference this upcoming season no Dame no Halle no table it's wide open ladies open baby. So who is it open for? The Cavs better get it done.
Starting point is 00:32:38 Let's talk about who we know. We don't know who. What do we know in the East? Two teams. Cleveland goes Choke. No, no, no, not next magic magic You think Cleveland gonna talk again, you know what I do too, so it don't even matter about them So we're gonna go with Orlando right now. I'm going claps and nicks. I Don't know who gonna come. I mean either in the next I can't even they get a coach then we'll make that what about Philly That's facts Like I said process me like I said, you might be right shot Process I like Orlando and they just got a boy Philly's roster
Starting point is 00:33:22 Bane's Ross. Come on, man. Come on Ross on paper. Okay question mark question mark, but Everybody else though, they had a so one league down. I mean, we don't know what he gonna look like with that new bone Who else do you got on the who else you got on the east? Healthy Charlie In there cuz I honest they don't got it is up that's nasty no dame the Wizards have made the move you got the Pistons who look like a business the business yeah he's been playing good I got to add something. Go ahead. Yes. I got a book. I got a hat. What do you mean? You gotta get Devon Booker think about what you got already or five. I got a hat. You got Dirden You got Stewart you got Tobias. I got it. I got it. Somebody bigger
Starting point is 00:34:18 I got a three or four little guard come. You see I'm good. I I become you can't look at your roster and say this is what we did without That's not upgrade since asses a year and I'm something they got Thompson sasser Or Book like y'all For whatever I got to give up to get that except K. Devin Booker with K. So I do that but if I can't get him then...
Starting point is 00:34:54 Yeah, yeah. They need another big though. I don't trust them. They're not shooters. They need a shooter as a big. They can stretch the floor. They need a big that can stretch the floor. They need a big that can stretch the floor. They need a big that can knock down threes and... I like Orlando though.
Starting point is 00:35:14 We asked the chat, does Porzingis make the Hawks a contender? 76% of the chat said hell no. But let's talk about the Nets side of things. So the Nets took Terrence Mann... The who? The Brooklyn Nets. Oh, oh, listen, they got it. Okay, go ahead. Let's talk. We got some things to discuss. I was confused on the name. You said because usually you don't say that. We're talking about the Nets now.
Starting point is 00:35:34 Okay, this is Gil Zarin. We show love to everybody. There's a reason to talk about him. So Nets took Terrence Mann the three years and 47 million remain on his contract. Also got the Hawks 22nd pick in this year's draft as a result So now the Nets have five first-round picks in this draft He ate 19th 22nd 26th and 27 selections if the Nets do end up keeping all five picks It would be a draft day record But should the Nets try to make a blockbuster move to bring a superstar to Brooklyn or build through this draft?
Starting point is 00:36:06 Take these five I'm gonna try to go get a block. Give me a Greco-Nigerian. You're not getting nothing out of this draft. Name Yannis the Coopo. Him, Jalen Brown. How's the house in New York? Yannis, Jalen Brown of Brooklyn. Derek White.
Starting point is 00:36:24 Derek White. Y'all this Jalen Brown of Brooklyn Give you all five of these motherfuckers for Jalen Brown and Derek white Give you all five of these motherfuckers right now Go to another score Just back the house. Yeah, just crazy that Brooklyn would be like a dumping zone right now Why wide open big market? They got five they were just in this trade to literally take care of Sam's like it's wide open for like players to actually go choose a place to team up We like let's go to Brooklyn. Yeah wide open big market New York. Let's build something I mean Brooklyn's known for having a big three like a yeah, like we're KG Paul and Darren and then you know
Starting point is 00:37:11 Yeah, so they know they need it. They got money. It's nice and they got nice arena That's shit. Listen, I work with nice nice as hell. I was just out there for the pre-draft thing man Like for the draft lot of bad book. They need the bills, they need the bills. So it went from. Bradley Bills should be thinking, I should, I'll go to New York. No, leave him where he at. To get out of there?
Starting point is 00:37:32 No. He ain't gonna stay there? Nope. No trade calls? You need to get him, hey, you convince him he need to go to New York. They can buy it out. You make a move for like,
Starting point is 00:37:41 de-booking Yana or something crazy like that. Now you're in a conversation. To leave him there? Just with you, if you don't leave him there. Yeah, he went there, he got no trade, let him keep it. Let him stay there and then dump everybody off. Let him keep his no trade and yeah, because it went from like we was at the draft lottery pre-draft thing, right?
Starting point is 00:38:00 It went from, oh damn, we got the eight pick, right? So this is. Now we have five first round picks. This is promising. I don't fear anybody. You take off five of those picks. Where am I? I'm at the bottom of the East.
Starting point is 00:38:16 The East, so that means I'm in the bottom of the league. Like I'm one of the worst teams in the league. So whatever I actually do doesn't put me any closer to anything relevant, right? So I'm just gonna sell all of this or trade all this to get exactly what that's gonna actually help me. So I might as well just take these five picks, right? I'm gonna be sorry for the next three, four years.
Starting point is 00:38:39 Anyway, take these five picks to see what comes out of it. I have low cost, I have no overhead, right? I don't have no big money on my head. And then the next three, four years, see what opens up, see if somebody wants to come here because I got all the money in the world. So instead of spending some now on a Devin Booker or a Bradley Bill with nothing to do with,
Starting point is 00:39:00 like I don't have no, I have no dinner table for him. I really just- We say team him up with somebody, not just sent Devon Booker to Brooklyn by himself like no they must stay in Phoenix But yeah, we sent him Yannis and some other things like them like make some shit like that happened and then do like Yeah, did that make sense? Yeah, cuz that'll get you in the car. I better get you there man. I'm Brooklyn I gotta get you there. I got a friend. I got got clacks and still over there. You got some Brooklyn. I gotta get you there with a couple of them bros. You got Klaxon still over there. You got some.
Starting point is 00:39:25 You got Cam Thomas, Cam Johnson. But you gonna lose them. I got a fresh plate. Fresh plate. Clean slate. I could start from scratch. Why wouldn't I? As a good GM, as a good owner,
Starting point is 00:39:38 you're utilizing them picks for leverage to build something, not just to hold on to the picks for the sake of, this is what we got. Like the movie draft day with Kevin Costner, the way that nigga maneuvered to get to know and figure out who he should pick was based on testing the the waters on the other teams and tricking them into believing, I take this, you should take this. If I gave you this, what would you think about it? I'm gonna call you back. Call this team, call that team. Everybody calling each other, trying to figure out,
Starting point is 00:40:09 is this real? He would really give up this pick? I mean, if we're gonna get Kevin Durant, and we're gonna get James Hart, and we get Kyrie, yeah, we're gonna do some shit, right? It's all about making the move make sense, but also having the balls to convince the other teams that the move makes sense. But that's what I think makes a good GM is to go in there and convince. I got five picks.
Starting point is 00:40:29 I can go out here and try to get Giannis and Joker. I think with this new CBA, the restriction to the second apron, all these luxury taxes, and we're seeing it with the Celtics, seeing it with other teams around the league, there is more willingness, obviously, to come up off your prized assets. They just said the bill for the future. The Denver Nuggets just said that they don't know if the Joker is going to take it. So Josh Cronkite said if they had a... Why would you even say that? Unforeseen injury, yeah it was. Think about that, that's true. Think about that. He's like if we offered him, if we offer him right now he might not take it because we don't have to take it toward we ain't gonna give him less
Starting point is 00:41:06 We don't ever know but now that's been that's been realistic. Yeah, and then he's being transparent Hey everybody out there. It may not make sense for us. So he's open Yeah, but good at your point the new CBA obviously the Nets can now get five draft p-tricks at a much lower rate than trying to bring in a Superstar bill with them for the next couple years. Not the way to see, not the way, hell no Not the way these numbers are, not what these first round picks, shit you got it. So so you say the I got I mean I got late first rounder so You got the eighth pick. I mean just right now. You got two lock, what? I don't want to get locked into somebody who's
Starting point is 00:41:45 I got to take on 50, 60, 70 million and I don't know what is gonna happen with it I'd rather let me get my draft picks see what they do and then start making deals I start making deals now and then lock myself into these big-ass contracts so then now somebody like Yannis is up and then I got to these big ass contracts. So then now somebody like Giannis is up and then I gotta try to figure out how now I gotta send them off to try to get some back and then or pay them now I'm locked in. Like it becomes more of decision making
Starting point is 00:42:15 to see what's my 10 year plan or at least five year plan with them. Right now I don't have no overhead so I'm. I hear you but if I don't get some pieces right now to make me relevant in the Eastern Conference because it's wide open right now. Yeah. I'd do, so I'm... I hear you, but if I don't get some pieces right now to make me relevant in the Eastern Conference, because it's wide open right now, I'd do that if I'm them. If I can go get a couple, two, three pieces right now, just for shits and gills, like I said,
Starting point is 00:42:34 if Phoenix is willing to deal with Devin Booker, because they've got Jaylin and they've got Young Garden, if they're willing to listen to it, sure, we'll give you the eighth pick, we'll give you the eighth pick and this and that for Devin Booker. Then you, the same Yannis thing. Sure, we'll give you these four.
Starting point is 00:42:52 Listen, they'll give them these four first round picks for Yannis. And then you jump into the, that's what I'm saying. As you go from here to jumping in some salary cap, you know what I mean? At the wrong time. Everybody's trying to jump now. No, no, no, but not.
Starting point is 00:43:04 But it makes you relevant. Yes. It makes you relevant. It takes you out of the bottom. It takes you out of the bottom. You know what I mean? Yeah wrong time. Everybody's trying to know Yes, it makes you well it takes you out of the bottom it takes you out of the bottom immediately here Automatically now you plan for a chance and that's all risk That's the risk that you take you'd rather take that risk then I stay at the bottom with the four-piece I hear you here then try to build on the development of those four picks He's saying look take these two Let's go get these two motherfuckers right now just to become relevant for the next three years. And then-
Starting point is 00:43:29 The Cagawans, New York, and the Knicks just did what they did, right? Especially with the year that's coming up next year. I hear you, yes, Gil? Absolutely, but I'm just- Might be a- So what you about to say, Joe? I was gonna give you the slots for each of the picks.
Starting point is 00:43:37 So the eighth pick will make $7 million this year. What's the total deal? What's the total deal? Total deal would be 31 million. For the eighth pick? Yeah, 19th pick would be total deal 18 million would make 4 million this year total deal for the 22nd pick would be 17 million they'd make 3.3 this year and then a 26 right if I'm not mistaken total deal for that be
Starting point is 00:43:55 15 million they would make about 3 million this year and then the 27th would be 14 million and they would make close to 3 million. So 14 15 17 19, 19, 31 shit that's but over a four-year window. That means you got to give a pickup if you're trying to get let's say Devin Booker you're basically giving up damn near half you're starting five and some picks. That's what I'm saying. Before you come out as Brooklyn. Yeah. Yeah. So you're dismantling though. Yeah. To get the honest and what's-the-name you dismantled your whole team now you But I'm out as Brooklyn. Yeah. Yeah, so it is mentioning though. You're day. Yeah, it's in Western
Starting point is 00:44:25 And you just man your whole team now, you don't have anything to actually help them win So now what you're doing is yeah, that's what does work little work. You got little work You got let's say you take the tenth or eighth seed But your salary cap just skyrocketed in the wrong time We know ball everybody we get low-hanging fruit in the market, but it's still just them two skyrocketed in the wrong time. No, we lowballed everybody. We get low hanging fruit in the marketplace. But it's still just them two alone put you in the 100 million. We understand.
Starting point is 00:44:49 But we got to understand that. You're in a luxury tax. But you're not in the luxury tax as a top 2, 3 percentage team. You're in a luxury tax as a 10th eight seed with just these two players. Who understood that? The Lakers? You got AD.
Starting point is 00:45:01 You got LeBron. What else did you have to deal with? The rest of the low hanging fruit that you could pull from that was available. That's the difference he made. You didn't bank on Austin Reeves being Austin Reeves. Right? So. The people gotta do their job.
Starting point is 00:45:14 That's what I'm saying. So if you do your job with two picks like that, we gotta go figure out the best utility players to put around for now. Just for now. Right now this season, and see if we can look good with these two guys can we assemble a team to make us relevant and those five picks would only cost around about 20 million of salary forgive my math if I didn't add it up correctly for this particular upcoming season yeah so you still have a bunch of cap space left to go make some moves and do some things or
Starting point is 00:45:40 trade these picks with other teams like the Thunder who are trying to trade I was gonna say that takes down the road the now you can package and get some stuff going so May it be seen should be an interesting trap day and night, but let's keep this thing moving So Kyrie Irving season was cut short with the torn ACL With the player option this summer his future in Dallas was uncertain But things got resolved Tuesday as it was announced Kyrie was declining his player option signing a new three-year deal Worth 119 million dollars to stay with the Mavs. Deal includes a player option for the 28-29 season.
Starting point is 00:46:08 So Kyrie told Choms his decision to stay with the Mavs was based on a commitment level from both sides, wanted to build a legacy in Dallas, and believing in the team's ability to win a chip when he returns healthy from his torn ACL. So Ky average 25 points, five rebounds, five assists last season. And the team-friendly deal opens up nearly 6 million in a taxpayer mid-level exception that they could potentially use to go after Shroud or D-Low, Chris Paul or some names that were mentioned,
Starting point is 00:46:32 Malcolm Brogdon as well. So Mavs also announced Daniel Gafferty intends to sign a three-year extension worth nearly 16 million. That'll keep him in Dallas through 2029. So did Kai remake the right decision signing a three-year extension to stay with the Mavs? Yes. Yeah, hell yeah. And we talked about this a lot when the injury happened with
Starting point is 00:46:51 his future would look like. I think you guys said he would probably decline that and try and get a longer term deal. Yeah, I mean just just for you as an individual when you're talking about like guaranteeing money, this was the smartest move for him financially, right, where you don't know what your career's gonna end up like, right? You got an injury, you still, they gotta make a move on you because they can't let you walk.
Starting point is 00:47:23 So if you can net another guaranteed 60 million or 70 million, right, this is the time to do it. And that's what the move was, like, you know, I'm willing to take a pay cut or whatever, but what I'm doing is for the next three years, I'm guaranteeing you something I didn't have before, right? You know, you can't look at like, oh, if I, you know, come back, like, he's gonna miss this year, most of this year, and then try to go on a free agency.
Starting point is 00:47:48 You don't know what he's going to get. So it was easy. It was easier to strike now to guarantee yourself another 70, 80 million. So this is a brilliant move for them. And for them, it saves money to. Yeah, I was looking at it as the fact that he's probably going to miss majority next season and going to free agency coming off of not playing. Yeah, that's the way I wouldn't think about the That's the part of yes, but I was looking at the failure going into free agency not had played a lot. Yeah There was reports he could have been in like the 50 to 60 million annual range before the knee injury Suffers a knee injury was probably gonna opt out anyway the maps I think he said had been loyal to, showed commitment to him that he appreciated.
Starting point is 00:48:26 So the future is bright in Dallas. So yeah, this is a smart move, man, all around. Yeah, and then Festy for his mental. Now that he got this out the way, you know, he can get through his injury. And like they said, the future is still bright in Dallas. They got the number one pick. You got Klay Thompson over there still, AD.
Starting point is 00:48:45 So you still on the up and up in Dallas. Yeah. Ty, you like this move for Kyrie to stay with the Mavs? Yeah. I think it's proven enough. It's a lot of money. Opportunity to come back, try to do something big in the next three years, take advantage of it.
Starting point is 00:49:13 Talking about the Nets, if you're Nets and you know that they're keeping their roster the way it is, if you're Nets, do you offer them the way it is. If you're nets do you offer them the 22nd and the 26th pick for their third pick or throw all three picks in for their third pick? For the sixers third pick? Whatever that's picked y'all can't really use it right now but you know this this 22nd pick this those are some veterans You know some of those seniors and shit that can help you right now If you're if you're if you're six is what you do take it you take it I mean you probably give them the eighth and one of those. Oh, no. No
Starting point is 00:49:56 No Cuz eight there's another freshman Eight is a freshman 22nd 26. Yeah, you're right Joe. They have to get 8 is a freshman, 22nd, 26th, 27th? Yeah, you're right Joe, they'll have to get 8. For 3 you have to get them 8 and whatever the last one is. 8 and 27 or whatever. 8 and 27, go for that. If I'm Brooklyn, I'm trying to get the third and 8.
Starting point is 00:50:15 Okay. I'm trying to be. Oh, I know, I did. I'll give you a 4. Yeah. What would make Philly come up off that third pick? Maybe three of them picks. And I give you the 22, 26, 27.
Starting point is 00:50:28 You can try to fill up your roster. Since you still are trying to go for a championship by keeping your roster the same. Or take somebody off the books for them. I would. Because at this- They're already doing that. They're making a lot of money.
Starting point is 00:50:39 They already had their fire sale already. I'm saying Philly had they fire sale last year. Like I was just wondering, I was like. They did. I was like, when it comes to picks, is there like any rule on picks? No. Because you know with cap, there's a cap,
Starting point is 00:50:57 but if I can, can I get rid of four picks for your number one pick? Yeah, I'm sure you just gotta make it work, like you're saying throwing a contract or throwing whatever. Yeah, whatever the numbers are, they just gotta do the numbers. Also those numbers still count too. Okay, I'm sure you just gotta make it work like you're saying throwing a contract or throwing whatever. Yeah, whatever the numbers are, they just gotta do the numbers. Also those numbers still count too.
Starting point is 00:51:07 I guess you're right. Whatever it is, they gotta do their damn job. Yeah, because I was looking like that. I thought I would see what worked. I would. It's gonna be a lot of wheeling and dealing. Because I go get Bigfella Queen if I'm Brooklyn. If they do do it for three.
Starting point is 00:51:26 Now, if, okay, if you're feeling, the one player that they don't want is him. Is Queen. Yes. And I'm like, I personally, I mean, I've heard what's wrong with Embiid, you know, you got real problems that's real.
Starting point is 00:51:42 Wouldn't you have a safety vow right here that does the same thing? I would, but they ain't that smart. You said that in being situation. It's more dire than people who, other things. There's nothing with this knee that's gonna ever go back to normal. It just gets worse.
Starting point is 00:52:01 It don't get better. There's no getting better. The knee don't get, it gets worse over time. So if it's arthritic now, it only gets worse. Well, we haven't figured out no city. I put some shit in it and just, Oh, back to normal. No, whatever's wrong with it. It only gets worse with time. The hip gets worse with time. So if these two things are actually bad today,
Starting point is 00:52:26 tomorrow and next week is going to get worse. So you need to have something in play now with a third pick. And this is your franchise. You might want to. Hmm. You might want to do a buying them to Shaq. Hey, you know, let me go ahead and get this seven foot. 17 year old.
Starting point is 00:52:46 Let me go ahead. You know what I mean? So, you know, yeah, we got you, Shaq. It was cool. You know, maybe three years from now, he might help us win two rings. You never know. For sure. For sure.
Starting point is 00:52:57 For sure. For sure. For sure. For sure. For sure. For sure. For sure. For sure. For sure. For day for these young men, man.
Starting point is 00:53:07 Whatever happens, whatever high it falls, man, it's exciting. Two days. Second round picks as well. It never gets old. Dreams are reached. So, nah, man now this is exciting. So let's shift back to the math side of things just real quick. So they got Kyrie locked over through your deal, got Daniel Gafford extended as well,
Starting point is 00:53:32 three year, $60 million deal. So after the Luca trade, math GM, Nico Harrison, easily the most hated man in Dallas, getting serenaded with fire Nico chance at home games and even medieval times. But Harrison, assembled a solid roster, had the pingong balls bounce in his favor with the Mavs securing the number one pick will Nico Harrison and the Mavs get the last laugh for the Luca trade I mean is it I know good and that's why I had to ask. I know when you say laughs laugh like as in what yeah
Starting point is 00:54:06 Yeah, that's ah ha ha ha ha ha why so serious? I told you niggas Smoking hookah full circle. I mean, I guess I mean I guess it's like if Dallas go win championships without me That's the last laugh? I think so. I mean, you guys killed me. And the Lakers don't? Yeah, you guys killed me because I traded traded y'all favorite player. And we traded him because we needed to win championships.
Starting point is 00:54:34 Are the Mads in a better position right now to win a chip in the near future than the Lakers are currently? I mean, I still like it. I still think they on the up and up. They still got the number one pick. They got Kyrie locked up. Still got AD, still got Klay, still got veterans.
Starting point is 00:54:48 You put AD and Kyrie together. It's like you didn't just keep Kyrie and Gafford and Lively. You know. Gave him AD. You have Klay, you have Cooper Flash. And Klay. Come on, man. And, come on, man. Kyrie couldn't be more happy.
Starting point is 00:55:06 Sitting over there smiling. In his spiritual way. I had to ask, Garna. I mean you can ask because when we're talking about laughing, who is actually laughing? You're saying Dallas is gonna laugh? I'm saying Dallas and Nico Harrison. Everybody looking at him like he was an idiot.
Starting point is 00:55:22 Okay let's try this. Like the people. I think everybody. Oh, the people. Oh, I mean, they can laugh. I'm pretty sure the Lakers is laughing because they took the asset, traded it, then used your asset
Starting point is 00:55:38 to sell it. Ten billion. Ha! How many rings are y'all gonna win to say hi back when you sell your franchise because right now I use Luke 80 80 hey you give me Luca hey I got Luca now we're gonna go from six billion to 10. Like when we're talking about laughing, it has nothing to do with rings. It's about the value of something.
Starting point is 00:56:12 Like you're talking about Boston sold for $6 billion. They gave you a piece, got back a piece, and then popped that motherfucker for 10. So that's the part I'm looking at when we're talking about laughing because the you gotta remember she got the team for free and sold for 10 billion they bought it they bought the team from right what about it for six million cuban cuban let me see uh get that number they got a price on the head already so what is their profit margin? When they decide to sell the team?
Starting point is 00:56:49 So to even say ha ha to Jenny, but you got to sell that bitch with what 16 14 million. Hmm To have a 10 million dollar profit So he sold controlling interest for 3.5 billion 3.5. So she got to sell for 13 just to say ha ha to her. When we talk about business. So before the lucrative trade, was she in trouble? Who? I mean, that's the thing. When you look across with the owner and the land table,
Starting point is 00:57:22 we got the team. Don't really got that bread. Don't got that million for the analytics staff and all that other. I'm confused. We gave you something. You get to God now. We get to Rod now.
Starting point is 00:57:37 I think we still get to laugh. Still got that still think Nico gets to laugh, because we got to push you out, because you was doing such a bad job So yeah, we kind of saved you yeah, yes in a sense so it shouldn't be a haha should be a thank you Thank you. Yeah, thank you. Thank you. Nico. We don't laugh at you Which I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but makes you wonder how about all these Which I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but makes you wonder how by all these
Starting point is 00:58:10 Feel like some bigger we got the whole NFL collusion situation going on just makes you wonder Makes you say who's at the end of day they still came out on top. Oh the Lakers Yeah, you talking about somebody who's financially don't have no money We switch for me to become wealthy. I Don't I'm you know, I'm pretty sure she's laughing all of it. Huh? I would know because they only sold with Luca so I can't guess what they asked. So without acid again, shout out to I can't go hypothetical.
Starting point is 00:58:39 The leg on so I'll pretend Billy. He showed you use your chest man. I can only go with what it's sold for. I can't I can't we do we do hypotheticals all the time but I don't need a hypothetical when I have a fact right here the fact it sold for 10 billion last but he's asking you a hypothetical year the boston celtic sold for six six billion six point with a championship on their head so I can only say smaller market than LA as well so I can only say hey with than LA as well. So I can only say eight with ten billion I I I inherited ten billion with no cash and I want to say previous estimates were like the seven eight billion range for the
Starting point is 00:59:12 Lakers so I hold two more what is that? Not a question. That's very very valid and fair question. It's a Valid question. It's a question that has no answer. I have no idea We don't know brana ad Lakers selling for 10 billion. I would venture to know can we do this? Bronte a D Laker selling for 10. I would venture to say no. Can we do this? The only way to answer that question for real. What was the value of the team last year or at the end of last 2024 or the beginning of this year? That's the only that's the only way we know what was the value of the team to begin of the season.
Starting point is 00:59:43 So we can't so we're not given a hypothetical. No, all we can say is what it was worth before Luca got there. That's all we can. I think so. You think they could sell for more? No, I think they'd sell it for $10 billion if he's there or not. Really? Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:59:58 You pulling it up, dude. Absolutely, I think so. Because it's the Lakers, man. I know, but I can only go with what it was worth. It's the franchise. Did Luca put a cherry on top? Yeah, but I think it still goes for that with or without it. Just the name itself.
Starting point is 01:00:13 Just the name itself. This is name itself, the Lakers brand, history, inflation. Los Angeles, I think it sells for that. Because it doesn't. It doesn't Because it doesn't sell it before. Was the question, does Luca get the last laugh or is Luca and Dallas? Does Nico. Does Nico.
Starting point is 01:00:33 So if it's Nico, then Nico going, his last laugh would be. On the court. Yeah, on the court. You're talking about from the business side. I mean, Nico's never been part of the conversation with laughter because obviously he's laughing the whole time because he was getting fired. That's him. That's what they wanted.
Starting point is 01:00:52 So Forbes had the Lakers valued at 7.1 billion in October 2024. So, but 7.1, but the Celtic sale I'm sure impacted that. We could say Luka potentially. Yeah, but the Boston selling for that definitely did. That's what impacted that, not Luka. Boston selling for six impacted that. More than Luka did. But I'm saying we can't, we don't, what you said when? In October they were valued at 7.1. October 24, they were valued at 7.1. They were valued at 7. And what did Boston sell? For 6.1. When?
Starting point is 01:01:28 A couple months ago, if I'm not mistaken. The sale went through. And then that new ownership group, I believe, takes over in the next couple weeks. So these things are moves that they're pushing. So let's shift over to the draft. So draft is hours away. Mav's still expected to select Cooper Flagg
Starting point is 01:01:42 with the number one overall pick. So Flagg has earned the respect of a lot of current and former stars in the league. He was at Fanatics Fest in New York this weekend where he got some major love from another former number one pick. That's a bad dude, man. That's a bad cop. What's up, baby? How you doing? Good. You all right? Good.
Starting point is 01:02:10 Excited? I'm excited. I know that's right. Good luck. Thank you. Do what you do, man. Thank you. Love watching you play.
Starting point is 01:02:18 All right. So for those keeping track, Iverson gave Flagg three daps, a hug, and a shoulder rub. All within his power. That ain't even minimum. That's not even minimum. I'm surprised it wasn't six or seven minimum the minimum Six minimum three three point three seconds per death
Starting point is 01:02:40 He's getting his feelings with you boy Get the daffy you daffy you daff with you, when he get in his feelings with you. Yeah, man, get to dapping you, dapping you, dapping you. So I was at the Iverson Classic a few years ago, Jairo's in, I think no less than nine daps in the span of probably 45 seconds. It was a beautiful thing to see. That's how he showed his love. He rocked with you, rocked with you.
Starting point is 01:02:58 And he rocked with most people that played in the NBA. He's a basketball fanatic at his finest and if he, yeah so. He know you, he know you. He ain't all of it. He had a couple more daps. Oh man. You were a dab short but still nonetheless said he was a bad dude. So on Tuesday on ESPN Kendrick Perkins had this to say about flag. This is how I look at Cooper flag. If LeBron James and Kevin Garnett had a baby you get Cooper flag. Why I say that is because when you think about LeBron James, when you think about LeBron James, you think of a complete basketball player, right? Jay, you just ran off the stats.
Starting point is 01:03:35 He led the team in everything. That's a LeBron James type thing. And you talked about his passion, his tenacity. I'm watching KG all over again, the way that he plays with a high level. We don't give players enough credit like Cooper Flagg. I think it's a skill to have a high motor like he has. And you talk about his competitive nature and saying this is one of the most competitive guys over the last 20 years. It is because most guys in high school nowadays, they reclass and go the other way. He reclassed up. So he's running up the chimney looking for the smoke.
Starting point is 01:04:07 And I love everything about this young man. I love how humble he is. I love how low maintenance he is and how hard working he is. And he's a generational talent. So you guys had some sort of issue with the LeBron KG having a big game? Yeah, we just want like there are WNBA players that's athletic and So you just want to pick one of them
Starting point is 01:04:28 There's a tennis player? Like tennis, arena, some athletic female A swimmer, a soccer player Some chick you grew up with I don't know, but that's cool And if you want to be political, don't use someone that's got another nigga already Yeah, you know if you're gonna say Asia be like BAM in Asia. Yeah, you know you just be correct about it So you got a think single? Whatever you wanna do not that yeah
Starting point is 01:04:56 Well, that's gonna learn something new every day on gives a reader Yeah, but basically saying no no, I would say that no, why would he know? I would do even make that comparison. Basically, I ain't saying shit that we understand. Cooper Flags very competitive. He plays hard. He's yes, generational talent. So that was my next question.
Starting point is 01:05:24 You agree with Big Perk saying Cooper flag is a generational talent. So that was my next question. You agree with Big Perk saying Cooper Flagg is a generational talent. It's Christian Lakenor. Yes. He's Tyler Hesbrough. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. Hell no.
Starting point is 01:05:35 Hell no. Hell yes, Kenya. Hell no. Hell yes. He's good. He's very good. He's solid. He's Tyler Hesbrough.
Starting point is 01:05:43 He's more athletic. He's more athletic than both of them. He's solid. But he's more athletic than both of them. Y'all hyping him like he's... No, but you compare them to two guys. Kevin Barnett and LeBron James. No, but you compare them to two guys that can't jump over a Saturday's newspaper. They can jump. Who? He ain't damn more athletic than him. I didn't say they was. I said they can jump. But they not athletic. They can play. They not athletic. But he can't play like them. But he's athletic. He's not good like them. Yes, I've seen him play in person with these two eyes. I have food. The kid can play, man. He's cool. He's more athletic than them two.
Starting point is 01:06:14 He's got ways to go when you come off Allen potential. He's got potential. Yeah, you know what she wants. He's not better than Zion was. At what? At basketball? Yes. Yes he is. Yes he is. Yes he is better at better than Zion was? At what? At basketball? Yes. Yes he is. Yes he is. Yes he is better at basketball than Zion. Shoots the ball better from the perimeter, makes better, absolutely. Zion's more athletic than him,
Starting point is 01:06:35 ampedeshka, all those things, yes. Absolutely. Yes, I said it. That's good. They heard it. Yeah, everybody heard it. I ain't gonna say nothing, they heard it. Everybody heard it, yes, I said it. That's good. They heard it. Yeah, everybody heard it. I ain't gotta say nothing. They heard it.
Starting point is 01:06:48 Everybody heard it. Yes, I said it. At basketball, the skills, yes. You better than Luau Ding when he was at Duke? Luau, I didn't watch Luau Ding play at Duke. I was busy doing other shit. You think Luau Ding better than Cooper Flag in their time at Duke? There was a lot of Duke players that were very good.
Starting point is 01:07:05 Okay, cool. Very good. Cool. He played one year just like a lot of those other guys. Brandon Ingram, Jason Tatum. Man, those guys were really good. Tyra Levin game. The open brand.
Starting point is 01:07:18 A lot of guys. Played against him? Like he does not eclipse none of those guys. Did I say that? Did I say that? That's what Coach K said. Did I say that? Did I say that? That's what Coach K said. But I said, did I say that? We're having a conversation.
Starting point is 01:07:28 Coach K just said that. I'm just talking. Y'all said y'all don't like arguing. Y'all said y'all don't like arguing. We're having a conversation. I didn't say that. Oh, you said you don't like arguing. You said that Christian Legner,
Starting point is 01:07:39 and you compared him to Christian Legner and Todd Lansbury, what the fuck you said. Yeah, I'm making a mistake. And I'm not going, and I said no. But you said you don't wanna argue. But no, we're not, it was a conversation and debate, but we're not finna say that he's. You wanna argue?
Starting point is 01:07:50 You said that, what Coach K said, I didn't. Do you wanna argue it? Are we gonna argue it or are we king and state? Coach K said Flagg, the best freshman, coached a lot of those gentlemen that you previously had. Are we gonna argue it? Cool. I think we'll have a healthy.
Starting point is 01:08:03 We're not gonna discuss the Christian question. And think we'll have a healthy What was the question? Tyler Hansburg, no. My question was, do you agree with Big Perk saying that Cooper Flagg is a generational talent? Okay, from the the, the, how generational talent is used Yes, he's a generational talent
Starting point is 01:08:20 Right, it's a, talent is potential Player, generational player is what you do generational talent Right. It's a talent is potential Player generational player is what you do with that talent with that talent once you're in the pros Talent is immature stage People got confused because ESPN came in and started just saying using talent and start just using talent for players. Right, so when we say generational talent, that's from the ages of like 10 to 17, 18. So when we say talent, that's all, Wimby was a talent.
Starting point is 01:08:53 Generational talent. LeBron was a talent and then became a player. Kobe, talent. Michael Phelps, talent. Everybody, it's an amateur status. So from the ages of 13, he's been number one and all that. Yeah, so right now he's a generational talent. We don't know if he's gonna turn into a generational player.
Starting point is 01:09:16 Like, Curry is a generational player, meaning what he did as a player changed a generation. But he wasn't a generational talent. Coming in, okay. and sometimes generational talents don't turn into generational players what makes a generational talent you you you physique who you are the things you do with your who do you say like make up like Chris Humphreys was considered a generational talent even though nobody knows He was ranked as
Starting point is 01:09:49 Ten year olds the fastest swimmer that damn near he had records He was in front of Michael Phelps the future Olympians, right? He was the people Yeah, Chris Humphries was a general like so generational talent is your sport Your your the sport that they have you in, in ranked in, is swimming. They say, I wanna have fun playing basketball, and then he becomes a pro at basketball. That's what generational talent is. That they can take you out of whatever you're supposed
Starting point is 01:10:17 to be doing and then put you in something else and you still become successful in life. That's what generational talent is. What did they take Cooper flag out of? No, just saying, right now it's talent. The talent of his makeup, body, he's been ranked number one ever since he was 13 years old. Amongst his 13 year old, he stands way above.
Starting point is 01:10:39 That's the talent. So, his peers. So, you was a generational talent. No, he wouldn't be into the generational talent. Who was a generational talent? No he wouldn't be a generational talent. Who was in your class? Me, Tariq Evans, Drew Holiday, DeMar DeRozan. Anybody else? Who?
Starting point is 01:10:58 Greg. Based on talent, you would be a generational talent, correct? No. No. I don't know. OK, but it was number one. It was the number one player. Everything y'all saying.
Starting point is 01:11:12 Who was ranked number one? When I was a freshman in high school? Who was that athletic motherfucker just everybody just praised on? As a senior? No, as a freshman. Eighth grade, freshman year, all of them. It would have to be Tariq Evans and DeMar because they were the free they were they would have been they would have been considered the generational talent of the group
Starting point is 01:11:32 His skill level turned him into the the player. What was it you number one? Yeah as a senior Cooper flag eighth grade ninth grade Cooper flag eighth grade, ninth grade, seventh grade, ninth, tenth, eleventh. We classed, went number one. So it's like, but Lakeland and Tyler Harris, bro. Really, bro? Like we understand they went to like, like, like Christian Lakeland is an all-American legendary player. Yes, cool.
Starting point is 01:12:04 Four years. Like Shaquille O'Neal, like think about Shaquille O'Neal like like Shaquille O'Neal Todd Hansburg boy Tiger Woods and Right Coco. He didn't do nothing. I will you I'm start counting these ifs. He stayed, he went one year, he's the first player. Start counting these ifs. Why would he stay around if he's gonna be number one? Bo Jackson, these are generations.
Starting point is 01:12:36 Why would he stick around? Okay. Hold on, hold on. This is before pros, like these guys are supposed to be Hall of Famers. Okay. Riddle me that shit. Zack Eady did it. Riddle me that shit. Zach Edie did it.
Starting point is 01:12:45 Riddle me that shit. We're not talking about Zach Edie here. We're talking about Cooper Flagg and Tyler Hamsberl. You said Tyler Hamsberl is the national champion of the college player of the Arlo State. Junior, senior year. Junior, senior year, yes. And Cooper Flagg sticks around.
Starting point is 01:12:59 He's all of those things as well. So what are you saying to me? We don't know that. He's the number one pick. We don't know that. He left school number one pick. We don't know that. He left school to be the number one pick. So focus, he's sticking around. So what generational is, where Cooper Flagg is getting this
Starting point is 01:13:11 award was Tyler Hansberg that as a freshman. No, they're not even the same planet. They're not even close. They're not the same planet. 12th grade, 10th grade, 11th grade, 9th grade, they're not. But you know what Tyler Hansberg was? Who cares? What he turned into as a player. We're talking about talent
Starting point is 01:13:26 Not just wrong. He's not the number one high school player He's not that as a freshman as a senior in high school as a fresh one was a junior that went up to be the same Thing that Cooper is Tyler was at 7th 8th grade Everything that the way Cooper was the white was a generational talent Okay, so we asked the chat is Cooper flag generational. No 54% of the chat said yes 46% of the chat said no Tyler Hansborough 2.0. Damn boy, please How much 46% and these people don't know fucking basketball nobody know These people don't know fucking basketball. Nobody know basketball
Starting point is 01:14:11 Don't know about those are the options don't nobody trust me like Wimby cuz I know he didn't look like Kevin Gardner out there I did I know he did not compare them to Tyler. I didn't compare him personally at that shit Yeah, I didn't you brought up Tyler Hansborough in this conversation. I'm talking to Perth. You injected yourself We're talking the topic is him. But you brought up Tyler Hansbur. This was my assessment. And you brought up Tyler Hansbur. It triggered you though. No it didn't trigger. It didn't take no response. That's my assessment. You brought up Tyler Hansbur. It's accurate. They said it 2.0. What'd they say? You brought up Tyler Hansbur. 2.0. So they agreed with me. Was they agreed with me. So they agreed with me. So they agreed with me.
Starting point is 01:14:46 So they agreed with me. They made it a part of the question. But they agreed with me. So they agreed with me. So they agreed with me. So they agreed with me. So they agreed with me. So they agreed with me.
Starting point is 01:14:54 So they agreed with me. So they agreed with me. So they agreed with me. So they agreed with me. So they agreed with me. So they agreed with me. So they agreed with me. So they agreed with me.
Starting point is 01:15:02 So they agreed with me. So they agreed with me. So they agreed with me. So they agreed with me. So they agreed with me. So't say yes 2.0 they answered so you can't know but he put in that you got to put in the option. There were two options. One option was yeah. And the other was no. They knew the conversation. You brought Tyler Hanzbourn into a general talent conversation. And they agreed. No they did not. 46% people agreed with me. No he's not.
Starting point is 01:15:24 47 was. 46. No. No 47 wasn't 46% people agreed with me. No, he's not. 47 was... 46. No. No, 47 wasn't Hansborough. No. What? 47 wasn't Hansborough. That was 2% Hansborough, right? 2.0.
Starting point is 01:15:32 Whatever it is. The question was, is Cooper fly generational? The options were yes or no. Like Wayne Gretzky. If you go back to Wayne Gretzky, at 13, he was considered a generational talent. That's potential. He's not a pro yet. Like Adam Banks.
Starting point is 01:15:49 Right? So when we talk about tennis, right? At 13, what was Federer? What was he considered then? Before he became a pro. Coco. It's not a pro thing. It's...
Starting point is 01:16:03 Venus and Syriza. It's you, how far are you in front of the field? You know like when you're in the 96th percentile and you'll weight clap, like that's like Muhammad Ali generational talent, Tyson generational talent. Tiger Woods. Tiger Woods. Tiger Woods. Tiger Woods. Yeah. Mayweather wouldn't be generational talent. He would have been generational player. He's a generational, like, it's not the talent part. He is the 50 and 0. He is... Roy Jones
Starting point is 01:16:36 would be the generational talent. Okay. Like, it's shit like that. It's the skillset. It's the physique. It's the things that. It's the skill set. Okay, that's all I ask. No, that ain't what you said at first. That's exactly what I asked. No, you asked what he's talented. See, the thing is, you niggas with these wordplay, your first thing you said was he talented, and then you switched to generational talent. What the fuck you saying?
Starting point is 01:17:15 What's the conversation are we having? Are we having a conversation on generational talent? So if I shortcut the word, it boggles everything up? No, because you niggas try to move the fucking goal post all the time the same word Talented is what conversation? Generational Is very one day is fucking generational
Starting point is 01:17:40 Fucking no moving that no no you're moving it you moved it cuz you just wanted y'all to answer the question But just answer one of them It's two different things just answer one step curry a generational talent growing up no was Step curry talented. That's two different things. I didn't ask that. Yes, you did. Oh my god You put talented for Mayweather. Yes Is for a boy Floyd a generation Generation of town was generational talent growing up no no
Starting point is 01:18:29 No, no, that's it. He is the reason I had he is a generational fighter He wouldn't I'm sure he would. No. Because they were there. Because they were there. Because that's what gives. Because they were there. That's what gives. When they're around him, guess what? You're right champ.
Starting point is 01:18:52 You're the best champ. Everything champ. Champ champ. You're the best. Everything champ. You him champ. Generation talent champ. So yes they would.
Starting point is 01:19:00 He beat Joe Lewis's ass. Once Floyd hears the understanding, then he will understand the difference. When you look at Mike Tyson as a 15-year-old, not grown-ass men, the speed, the power, who he was day before one fight, generational count. Y'all tell him that's Cooper Flagg.
Starting point is 01:19:23 That's what y'all telling me. That's the full circle. Y'all telling me Cooper Flagg is a Mike Tyson generational talent. When Floyd was fighting, his loss in the Olympics, his work ethic, his drive turned him into a generational fighter. See, the talent is hope. It's not defined, it's just raw. So that means if I take the body of Mike Tyson, someone was looking at it like, I can carve him into a champion. Because of the attributes bringing the strength
Starting point is 01:20:06 to the power the movement. It's before fights have occurred. That's what talent means. Generational boxer is what you did as a boxer. That's where Floyd comes in at. Yes. Floyd got cheated in the Olympics. He was a prodigy. He was a generational talent before he lost.
Starting point is 01:20:32 So if I Google, so if I Google, was Floyd a generational talent at 13? Will this say yes? I don't know. I haven't asked it that question. I did. You did? Did I just do it.
Starting point is 01:20:45 Jerry Rice. I wanted to see the difference between like Jerry Rice was he considered a generational talent or did he become a player because I was telling you the answer to these things. I only support the real AI. Well, I didn't look it up and how many deaths would I give it? How about this? Do you give answers I could go ahead I tell you to order answer so I could be correct I tell you the difference we take Cam Newton and we take Tom Brady right we take their patch their body before college which one will fall under generational talent and one will fall under what? What would be Brady at that moment in time? A sixth round pick. Right now we can't call Brady talent now
Starting point is 01:21:33 he has to be generational player because of what he did with his work ethic and his attributes and his skill and his accomplishments. He changed the game that's where the accomplishments come from. And that becomes the player himself. Got it. Well, let's keep this thing moving. So during the media availability Tuesday, Flagg was asked about his decision
Starting point is 01:21:56 to reclassify in high school to position himself as the youngest number one pick since LeBron James and had this response. I quote my mom like to say a lot, after the best player in the gym, that you need to find a new gym. So for me, it was about thinking about what I had left to do in high school
Starting point is 01:22:13 and how much that would push me to become a better player. So if you're the best player in the gym, find a new gym. Do you like Flagg's mentality when it comes to seeking out challenges? Shit, yeah. Read class. Hey, if you're the best player, yeah. Just like I said, if you're the smartest man in the room, you need to find another room, right?
Starting point is 01:22:33 Yeah. So that's the same thing, right? It fits the same standard. So to be pushed, to be great, realize where you are, I'm with it. Leave high school, you're early, end up leading Duke, points, rebounds, assists, if I'm not mistaken, for the season. Mr. B, how do you feel about Flagg's mentality when it comes to seeking out challenges, not ducking smoke? I like it. I like it. I saw him at Curry Camp a couple years ago with him and Ace. And just his work ethic and his attention to detail I loved. And the fact that he wanted to classify up and play
Starting point is 01:23:10 and take on challenges, I love it. So I just like his mentality, though. So that's the first thing about it. Sean, how you feel about Flag's mentality in terms of reclassifying? Wanted to take a bigger challenge, because basically saying high school niggas were trash and I need a new test. That's fine. His words not mine. Good luck. Got a lot to prove. Does have a lot to prove. Has a lot of
Starting point is 01:23:37 weight on his shoulders. Gil, how about yourself? Floyd Mayweather was considered a generational talent by the age of 13. So what's wrong? Cool. Excuse me? So that was wrong? Who was wrong? I was.
Starting point is 01:23:57 About what? Floyd? Floyd, yeah. He just read what? He was a generational. He thought I was paying attention to y'all niggas? I mean, listen, man, I know it, I know. What y'all talking about?
Starting point is 01:24:07 Cool. I know why y'all don't want to, I be doing my shit, man. Amateur career, he was 84 and 6. Cool. Shout out to Roy Mayweather. Absolutely. You're the best, Amateur. Yo wasn't promising talent. He was a generational one at 13. So he was amongst. Cool. I dig it. It turned out even more. Absolutely. Okay so in
Starting point is 01:24:39 basketball terms, right, generational. No, generational talent is an all-star. Generational player is all NBA. Generational player is higher than a talent. Okay. So Floyd was both. Yeah, he ended up turning his talent into an actual thing. So there's generational players who flop. Okay. I dig it. I mean, I came in the draft for one just in case. This nigga here is stupid, man. All right. Don't
Starting point is 01:25:14 stop. I'm just saying. I ain't generational player. So you feel a generational player is just then conform that bitch into a cake. Just like little kids, just little dough everywhere. Little egg over here, some shells in the shit. Yeah. I didn't even know I had this shirt. I just found it randomly in the closet. Around and find out. Divine leaf just sitting around.
Starting point is 01:25:42 It seems appropriate for today's episode of Gills Arena, presented by 100 dollar whoop whoop. So we'd like to give a shout out to our sponsor, Ro. Today's podcast is sponsored by Ro. Women find confidence sexy and they can sense it, so don't let your worries about staying hard in the bedroom get in the way. Luckily, RoSparks is here to help.
Starting point is 01:25:59 RoSparks are a two-in-one prescription treatment for guys who want more control over their erections. They hit the bloodstream faster because they dissolve under the tongue. Getting hard faster means having more sex. After they dissolve, they work in 15 minutes on average. Roe stays active in your system for up to 36 hours, so you can go back to back to back or be ready for the morning after. Roe connects guys with a medical provider 100% online, so there's no awkward conversation
Starting point is 01:26:23 with in-person providers. If approved, treatment shifts directly to their door, if prescribed new sexual health patients get $15 off their first Sparks order on a recurring plan, connect with a provider at ro.co.arana to find out if prescription Roe Sparks are right for you. That's ro.co.arana for $15 off your first order. so keeping it in line with the draft will have it y'all struggling with the road one one for one name and then well no I was gonna read this read this thing, but it don't change the fact that you bought Tyler Handsboro up in this conversation. Tim claims one name right, he's a generational talent.
Starting point is 01:27:14 Yeah, he was right. The other niggas you got, oh. That's a funny point. He was one nigga, one nigga. In a generational talent conversation. On one name. On one name. On one name. That's what we laughing about.
Starting point is 01:27:30 You once a nine. Tyler Hansborough. All the people that you could have mentioned. Y'all niggas stop scrambling. We not. You're in the bag. Where's the pay? How many do you have? I only opens if I open it.
Starting point is 01:27:46 Nah. Suffocating that motherfucker while you in there. Just sit in there and let it sit. And you brought Tyler Hansen. Let me fart in the bag so y'all niggas can smell the shit y'all in. You know what I'm saying? Like fart in the bag.
Starting point is 01:27:57 Y'all in the shit. Close the bag, smell the shit. Suffocating the shit. A judge up in the store. Give me my flowers, let's move on to the next topic. We're wrong about. Like we tried. Fuck around and find out. We tried. Man, fuck. Give me my flowers. Let's move on to the next topic. Fuck. Fuck around and find out. Man, fuck. Like we're wrong. Like, but.
Starting point is 01:28:09 Yeah, y'all tried to win. Y'all tried to win. Nah, no we're not. That Kobe energy in here and that shit made you go back to the archives. You'd be wrong about Floyd being the talent versus the player. From the age of 13. Brandon Jennings? Spartan the Baggins? Brandon Jennings? But the other 30 people. That's right. Brandon Denny? Spartan Baggins? Brandon Denny? But the other 30 people we named are right about.
Starting point is 01:28:29 Fart in a body bag is zip up the body bag to the fart they can't even body. We're 30 and 31, they're 130. Like it is, it's weird. That's true, I kinda like that. And we named 30 people, we was wrong about, we was wrong about him. They get to die in this shit.
Starting point is 01:28:42 At 13. That's a fart. Heaven, heaven, they in heaven smelling like shit what I know and my I don't know generational talent that young yes that's all I did I did all the 30 niggas I'm right about those of them like who's that Freddy I do this shit all right Freddy I'll do that generational talent it I let's keep it that's gill in them let's keep it dry center and then the fact that y'all gonna put in the chapter the Tyler I didn't do it. Okay, well fucking I'm a vessel Right. I have two hands
Starting point is 01:29:15 These hands are merely for host like I played against Tyler hands, bro Like we're not gonna snitch on who did it like oh And what did I tell him Joe? So I went in with the shoot the ball. Yeah. So yeah, so that's what I thought about his game. Hell yes. Can you? Yes. He made it. Let's shift over. So ace Bailey, I've been the subject of discussion in recent days after refusing to work out for any team leading up to the draft. Bailey was resumed locked to go to the sixers with the third pick. But now there's uncertainty over where he will end up getting selected. So back in May, current Sixers guard Paul George had high praise for Bailey offering this assessment of his game on his podcast P show.
Starting point is 01:29:55 I think he has big time potential. He has big time talent. He can score from any spot on the floor. He has an isolation game, which you don't see that often in kids that size, that early. He can make plays, he can shoot over top of defenses, he can take advantage of mismatches, he can handle the ball and pick and rolls,
Starting point is 01:30:12 he can catch and shoot, he can defend. I've seen him play elite defense on chase down blocks, running guys off threes, defending, keeping guys in front of him. I think he just has tremendous talent. If there was no Cooper flag, Ace Bailey would have been an even bigger name that people would have been talking about in this
Starting point is 01:30:27 draft. I love his upside, man. I've been a fan of his game for a little while now. I think he's going to be hugely. He's definitely going to come to the league and people think it might take him a minute based off of his skill set, but I think he's going to come into the league and make noise right away. So that was back in May. So Bailey had a meeting scheduled with the Sixers on June 20th, but canceled the day of. So in the aftermath of all the discourse around Bailey and his pre-daft decisions, PG offered these thoughts recently. If I'm Ace Bailey, I can't get mad if my stock drops.
Starting point is 01:30:57 He's canceled all workouts. Like he hasn't worked out for any team. Not one team? No, he hasn't worked out for any team. He's tripping. I think they made a big deal because we were scheduled to work him out and he canceled the day off, but he hasn't worked out for any team. Little boy, you're not in a position to be making those demands. Make it to the
Starting point is 01:31:14 league first. Do you think that's him or the people around him? For sure the people. I don't think they're going about it the right way. That again, it just seems bold. That's a kid that's been paid in college, bro. I got money. I would tell you where I want to go. I got money now. This is a business. If I'm going to put my money behind you, I need to know that you're going to represent us well.
Starting point is 01:31:37 It's almost the me before the team, before he's on a team. He's not wrong for wanting to be a number one option. I'm with him all the way. The way of going about it is just not right. So on the eve of the draft yesterday Bailey met with media where he was asked about not working out for any teams and he said I can control what I can control, me playing basketball. He was also asked about a decision to skip the Sixers workout and responded I'm just blessed to be in this position
Starting point is 01:32:05 I am right now That's all take it day by day So for what it's worth according to reports the Sixers are still interested in taking Bailey with the third pick But should ace Bailey's decision to not work out for any teams cause him to slide in the draft Ask the question again should ace Bailey's decision to not work out for any Should his decision not working out for any teams Impact it. Yeah Should it
Starting point is 01:32:32 Will it Let's try this again, how about this Do you think he gives a fuck do Do I think Ace Bailey gives a fuck? Yeah, do you think he cares? Because if he cared, then he would be doing it, right? If we listen to what he said in May, if there was no Cooper flag, he would be the number one pick, right? So what that being said is, if I'm going into this draft, do I give a fuck about where I
Starting point is 01:33:04 get drafted? Team wise or pick wise? And these kids are very different than us. Before, we used to care about the number where I got picked. These kids care about the team now. Like, why would I want to go to Sixers if you were there? They're going to play you. There's the MB. I'm not were there. They're gonna play you. There's an Embiid.
Starting point is 01:33:26 There's a Maxie. So I personally, thinking about my future, I don't wanna go there. I wanna go to where I wanna go so I can be the man. I don't wanna go to a team where I'm gonna be second fiddle or coming off the bench. So I'm looking at what? I'm gonna be second fiddle or coming off the bench so I'm looking at what but I'm gonna look at you the Charlotte let me see what my
Starting point is 01:33:49 thing is the report what am I thinking about the hornet and jazz his team and so the hornets and jazz not the draft cool so so again I'm looking at the jazz hornets not me so most likely what am I looking at this the Wizards I'm I'm trying to put myself in a pit. Because- Did you? But did he? Yes, if you don't pick me, I'm going to-
Starting point is 01:34:09 He didn't work out for nobody. Yeah, because I already know who I'm going to. I already know whatever team that I'm talking to behind the scenes, we've already came to an agreement. That's what I was saying the whole time. I'm saying that the whole time. That's funny. So I was saying that the whole time.
Starting point is 01:34:23 That's all we cared about. Let's further it though, further it. We didn't think he was doing any workouts or no meetings. No, he wasn't doing it. I don't need to. But there is a, there's a such thing as a private workout, right? It ain't shit private in 2025, nigga.
Starting point is 01:34:35 But is there such thing as it? No. No. No. Okay. So it was a private meeting still is it? No. Nothing private.
Starting point is 01:34:43 Nothing private. Well, it's private until we find out about it. you should have no not even a private conversation not in 20 25 I don't believe so no man I was with this is gonna be fine let's just say that the Wizards is gonna be good who's our three man huh I don't have a problem with him controlling his own narrative. I got nice veteran team over there too. A lot of them. Who's that? So, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so What did a private silent backdoor trade there was no news about it to about 48 hours Damn it y'all killing because you're dealing with two individuals that stood on something. I don't think the rest of society can do that They were keeping conversation with good months to friends. I don't think people can in the biggest Too close. I don't think they it's two people that talk they're close friends them two people
Starting point is 01:35:41 Made a pact within themselves the rest of these people that we speak about in this business and all that shit, shit that happens, they can't fucking hold water. So I can answer questions. So Ace Bailey's answers don't sound like he has a guarantee? Oh cool, that's what I'm saying. Yes, it sounds like he has a guarantee. Sounds like he has a guarantee. Yeah, that's cool.
Starting point is 01:35:56 So I remember watching two private workouts in my class. Before social media. Went to a private workout to watch, my God. Before social media. Before social media. It was not private then, cause you saw it. Before social. I was there, I was allowed to come, cause I was with him.
Starting point is 01:36:09 Before social. I was his only, he told me to come. But it's not private then. He's like, yo, come with me, bro. It is, cause I'm with him. So let me somebody else like, no. I didn't tell nobody. But you could have.
Starting point is 01:36:18 I'm with him, this is my homie. But you could have. He's like, yo, I'm about to go workout for the jazz. I'm about to go workout for the jazz, I want you to come with me. John Stockton's going to be there. That's not private. It was four of us in the gym.
Starting point is 01:36:29 That's not private. OK. What makes it private? So four y'all in the gym, so what, two rebounders? OK, but what is the topic? The topic is, was it smart for him? To do the private shit? To deny.
Starting point is 01:36:44 Yes, yes. Because he's getting big regardless. Because he. To deny, yes, yes. Yes, because he's giving you a big regard. Because he already has somebody, that's fine. We thought he wasn't doing anything. We've seen a similar situation happen with Shador Sanders in the draft, not similar, but there was a bunch of talk speculations. No, no, there's a difference between
Starting point is 01:36:56 because he's guaranteed, right? You gotta think about it. If Cooper Flag is gone and he's not in his draft, he's the number one pick. Now, if you are the guaranteed number two pick and you're telling Sp his draft he's the number one pick now if you are the guaranteed number two pick and you're telling spurs, spurs fuck off you win be you all about win be you got beat I'm not coming you got mellow I'm only going to two teams and that team is going to be the Wizards or Brooklyn
Starting point is 01:37:21 I dig it they gonna be all about but when we first had the discussion they just we thought he was not meeting with Nobody or not or not. Well now what anybody don't need to was just If you to six if you to six pick or eight pick and the number two guaranteed pick is there you yet? Okay, but I guess what a devil's advocate would if the sixers say, oh, okay. We know you want to go there We'll just draft you. I'm going to be bad as shit. And now I'm on. Give us everything you got. I'm going to have this gone. So I'm not going to give it to 18 to 22. And if you're feeling, give you.
Starting point is 01:37:50 Now your NBA career fucked. Right. I'm about to say, because now your clock is starting. So that's on you. Now your NBA career fucked up. Yes, they control it. No, no, just like anything. Just like anything.
Starting point is 01:38:01 Hey, Wizards, I got your mans. I got your man. What you gonna give me? Huh, I know you own him. Yes. Leverage. That's all it is. If you're another pink, like you just.
Starting point is 01:38:13 That's all it is. I understand. Like if you're him, you're him, you're thinking about where you can play in your market. And the two teams that make sense for him is Wizards right now, right? Come in, plug and play, it's your team. Who gone? Who is gone? It's your team. This is you. And then Brooklyn. What y'all trying to do?
Starting point is 01:38:33 Come in and play with some Vets. Play with some Vets, it's your team. You working out with Giannis? Yo, hold on. What you two niggas is talking about? Yo, hold on. Y'all trying to go. Yo, if y'all, that five that they put up, like I saw like the potential starting five for the Wizards, if it stays that way and them dudes are healthy,
Starting point is 01:38:50 you'll be all right. Hey, man, I thought I was like, huh. I ain't saying they gonna make the playoff, but I was like- Right, right, right. You see it, you see it, you see it though. Ace Bailey deserves- This is business shit, right?
Starting point is 01:39:02 The understanding to choose his, like standing on business. He's standing on business for a reason just like he just said. We all know the inner workings of where I want to fucking go. I want to go here. So let's flip that right? So let's flip that. Just for shits and giggles, if there's no guarantee. If there's no guarantee. If there's no guarantee If you if there's no guarantee if there's no guarantee just make this decision right that they're not gonna work out They're not gonna they just gonna say fuck it like whoever picked me I'm telling these two to two don't put anything out there. I'm cool with But what if that shit just backfires totally enough for the slide to like 20? It's not yeah It's not. But you taking that. I just. To be honest.
Starting point is 01:39:47 I'm saying it's guaranteed. No, what I'm saying to be honest. It doesn't sound like it's guaranteed. Just all those kids, right? Like even if you're Dylan Harper, do you really want to get picked by the Sixers? Isn't it collusion though? Do you really want to get picked by? I dig it.
Starting point is 01:39:59 Like the Spurs. The Spurs. I dig it. Wouldn't it be collusion though if those teams did decide not to pick him based on him We're working out. It's not always happens. They're talking. Oh, it's illusion. No Collusion means you got a conversation a hundred percent. We just saw the NFL get hemmed up for that though I'm saying we know it happens because you gotta get caught doing it, but the conversations are He didn't work. This is what they're doing in a meter.
Starting point is 01:40:25 No, no, no, that's part of it. But listen what I'm saying though. Paul don't have to, you don't have to report this. You don't have to report this. So if you don't report this, we don't know that these things are happening. We don't know that he ain't going to no workout. We don't know that this is a bad thing.
Starting point is 01:40:38 So us reporting it like this may drop his stock, la la la, now all the other teams are listening like, okay, how low is it gonna drop his stock, la la la. Now all the other teams are listening like, okay, how low is it gonna drop his stock in public perception? How are the public gonna view him for not running these workouts? Now he's looking at it because people are saying he's getting bad advice when this is something strategic
Starting point is 01:40:56 that every top three pick does in every draft, trying to solidify their place. But he's looking bad now because he's got certain representation that doesn't add up to the agents that want him and get that percentage. They're like, Oh man, don't listen to Shreve Cooper. Oh man, you know, he's giving them bad advice when he's doing exactly what Bartlstein and any other momo's will do.
Starting point is 01:41:15 Hey, you don't have to work out for none of them. I got a favor. He owes me chill. So stay healthy. You got to do. So matter of fact, go get a rebound, go go pass it go dunk it and go sit your ass down This ain't football man There's no one that stupid to let I mean there's a lot there's not a bunch of stupid teams
Starting point is 01:41:34 That's gonna sit there and look at a talent and say I don't want to pick up because it's bad That doesn't happen in the NBA I don't have to let that n***a in the gym I don't gotta do nothing with him man. I don't have to let that n***a in the gym. That's what I'm talking about. I don't got to do nothing with him, man. I'm going to take the talent that's going to help my team. But just like anything, I've already negotiated. When you talk about this team. Hey, hey, listen.
Starting point is 01:41:55 The motherfucker, listen. If I'm looking at, if I'm, let's say I'm Wizards, and I don't trust the 76ers. I don't trust you, right? I'm going to be like, all right, look, Spurs, can you take Bailey for me and I'll take your guy because we think your guy's going to be there a little bit longer. That's the conversation that's there. Example.
Starting point is 01:42:17 Yes. Example, Jason Tatum. Who has the number one pick when Jason Tatum was coming in? Boston Celtics had the number one pick. Who did they pick? Jason Tatum, right? But they got the number one pick. They could have picked Jason Tatum,
Starting point is 01:42:35 but they knew Philadelphia had the third pick. Hey, I got a deal for you. You need a point guard, right? Yeah, look, how about this? Listen, you can't take a small forward because you already got Ben Simmons. Lakers can't take a small forward because they got Ingram. I'll trade my pick with you. You give me some money, you give me some bad shit, I'll give you the number one pick, you'll give me the third pick because I'm gonna get Tatum
Starting point is 01:43:07 any fucking way because the two people that's in front can't pick them. So we still, so if you want the number one pick so you can get a point guard, Forest Lakers will take a point guard and they gonna take Lonzo because on the Lakers board they had They had ball two at point guard and Phelps one so they might go folks my folks So look I'll trade this I'll do the little won't and that's what ended up happening The same person they got that they wanted they got it at three with some extra shit They finesse them and had to pay him less this scenario And had to pay him less. This scenario.
Starting point is 01:43:42 Yes. Pay him less. Pay him less, right? This scenario with Cooper and Aze Bailey is the same with Kobe and AI in 96. Kobe was supposed to go to New Jersey. New Jersey ended up getting Kerry Kittles, because they wanted someone established and ready
Starting point is 01:44:01 to play right away. They didn't want to take the chance on Kobe. Calipari wanted Colb. But Jerry West was the only one that knew in the whole draft that Colby was gonna be something. He really liked AI because he was in college and he was good. He thought Colb was better. So he needed to finagle how to get that pick.
Starting point is 01:44:16 From six to all the way to the leg. I can't remember where they was at. They wasn't 13, but they had access to the 13. So they needed Colb to drop out of that six pick, which is the finagle that you just said they did with Charlotte. Because ownership didn't want Cove. They like, man, we don't trust no high schooler. But Jerry West had an end with the Hornets.
Starting point is 01:44:41 So Cove slides to 13, we got him. We got what we want because he believes. Say somebody sees something that Ace Bailey did, they like, look, Cooper gone, that's AI. He's gonna be number one pick. But we feel like this dude is better than him. We feel like he's better than him and we can take him if he can get him, like he said.
Starting point is 01:45:01 If we can fall into four, we can trade. You owe me this, I need this it can happen for sure so we asked the chat well ace Bayes decision make him slide in the draft 66% of the chest says yes but maybe that's what he wanted yeah to begin with yes what he won't he's trying to force us I will see the we'll see if somebody goes in the Wizards or Brooklyn he's in a big market with his name number one option If he goes on narrative going down with it not if you go to the Wizards now with that team staying He won't be the number one option cuz I'm there
Starting point is 01:45:33 See them color like she I I got this suit on in practice. Get your stick. He's gonna call the matter of his name. Hey, player, I don't want you to take too many shots. And then hard bottoms running around and shit. No, he gonna be all right, man. Like I said, if it's a plan, man, as long as they got a plan in place for him and they doing right by him and his future and his basketball future, I'm all for it. But if nothing, if it's not that, then it's bad decisions being made.
Starting point is 01:46:24 Well, everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth. So we'll see. Hopefully, like I said, hopefully they. If they ain't these other teams, they take the point here. They've worked the phones. They've worked these teams. So this is my only thing. How many other clients in NBA does the guy have?
Starting point is 01:46:39 I don't know. Let's see. How many other clients? I've done this? No, no, no, no. I'm saying his ace Bailey's agent. I don't know how many current NBA players he has. I don't think none.
Starting point is 01:46:49 It's probably just him. Just him and his. Because it's all about relationships. So the point I'm making is it's all about relationships. Right? It's building these relationships, having these long lasting relationships that you could have that conversation like,
Starting point is 01:47:04 don't pick him, don't pick him for this reason these reasons so that's my thing if you don't have any relationships and some of them guys be like fuck you I think kind of like what Rich Paul been doing right yeah but not yeah it's kind of like what Rich Paul been doing you force them to you force them to have relationships with you but he has a relationship though but Rich Paul is Rich Paul I know what I'm just saying he got that dude, he got that one dude that could... But it's the formula, though. You got that one guy that...
Starting point is 01:47:28 Yeah, getting in the door. Yes. Getting in the door off the back of the athlete. I gotta maximize all these access points. Yeah, I dig it, but you gotta, I understand you gotta start at some point to build these relationships, but I hope he has those in place and And for that, for those teams were to mean something and vice versa, right? Cause you know how that should go.
Starting point is 01:47:48 If you don't have that, agent tell them something, they do something else in the other way around. I just, those things mean something. What's so funny is if you ever look at the second round, see, this has been going on, but because Bronny James got drafted in the second round, it kind of opened up like, oh, how he get guaranteed. If you've been drafted in the second round it kind of opened up like oh how he get guaranteed If you've been looking at the second round these contracts for the last couple years
Starting point is 01:48:09 If you look at it, it don't make sense. How can the first pick make 7 million? The first pick in the second round makes 7 million the third pick in a second round makes 12 million That don't even make sense, but it does because what's happening is they've already agreed to terms So the third pick might have been the first pick, but he said hey, don't fuck with me I'm already got a deal over here, right? So the second round is basically negotiating their own deals now So they can visit a I don't fuck with me. Don't fuck with me. And if you look at these countries like this is Yeah, I don't fuck with me don't fuck with me. And if you look at these conscious you'd be like this is
Starting point is 01:48:48 This the backwardest shit ever that suck if you go and look at the second round You will see motherfuckers making the 40th pick makes more than a 30th pick Because they've already negotiated these terms and they just just waiting there so they ain't try out for nobody but this team We've seen that work. So let's keep this thing moving. This morning on first take Stephen A Smith gave his list of the top five players going into next season. Let's take a look at the list. So this is according to Stephen A. He's got Joker at number one, SGA at two, Giannis at three, LeBron at four, Steph at five. So after taking a look at this list, do you agree with Stephen A's list of the top five players in the league going into next year?
Starting point is 01:49:31 I'ma go Shay one, Yoke is two, Yana is three, Luca four. I'ma go, I'm a go I'm a go What is this going on born into next season so that's the end of this so stop I'm going to go to the next season. So that's the end of this. So stop by going to the next season. I'm going to go into. LeBron of Ben Mitchell. Yes.
Starting point is 01:50:10 LeBron of Ben Mitchell. Take it up. I'm going to go with my Laker man. I'm going to go five with LeBron. Okay. For me, going into next year, for me, I'm going to SGA one. Yannis two. Yoke is three. Okay. For me, for going into next year, for me, I'm going to SGA 1, Giannis 2,
Starting point is 01:50:27 Jokic 3, Luca 4, number 5. And it don't have to be the five players. No, no, no. You are free and clear to pick whatever players you think. I'm going to go with, just because there are chances next year, I'm gonna go with Donovan Mitchell five. Donovan Mitchell five, so Canyon, let's shift over to you. This is Stephen A's list. I want Canyon's list of the top five players
Starting point is 01:50:52 going into next season. I'm gonna go Nicole Shea Yanez. Nicole Shea Yanez. Actually, I'm gonna go Nicole Lianichet. Ooh, so Shay dropped to the third spot. You gotta give Big some love, man. Four, I am gonna go a healthy Luka Doncic. Luka! From your soon to be new favorite team? Donchich.
Starting point is 01:51:29 When you're soon to be new for everything. I'm going Kevin Durant at five, man. Putting KD at five. That's a good one. You still have your 27 points. That's a good one. That's a good one. I like that one. I'm not going to disrespect Easy Money that way.
Starting point is 01:51:40 He's still top, in my opinion, he's still top five in the NBA, man. Who did have five? Who did you have five? I put Bron, I put Bron. You put Bron. Okay, okay. Last but not least, Money Making Sonny. Top five players going into next season.
Starting point is 01:51:54 This is Steven A's list, but I want your list. Yeah, I mean, when we ask questions, we should just not say his name. Okay. This is ESPN personalities list on a show that runs on ESPN. Just answer the question, like, yeah, fuck his list. Anyway.
Starting point is 01:52:08 Fuck his list. I'm going to go with Kade. Kade Cunningham. The number one spot. No, not number one. Five. We're going five, four, three, two, one. Okay, so Kade last.
Starting point is 01:52:19 Kade. Joker. What? Joker. Okay, Joker four. Giannis. Giannis in the third spot. Shay. Shea in the second spot. Wimby. Wimby in the top spot. Victor Wimby-Nyama not appearing on anyone else's list along with Kay Cunningham. And why do you have Wimby in the top five, your number one player going into next season?
Starting point is 01:53:05 He's gonna be the best player we've seen in a long time for a very long time. And he would have been if he wouldn't have got hurt. So we wouldn't have been having a lot of these conversations. So he's an alien and I think Cade is gonna come into his own. I think his momentum shows that nobody out there really fucking with him. Cade A real one. Wimby been training with him. Okay, they ruined. Wimby been training with Shiloh Monks. I think he's put on about 30 pounds since coming into the league.
Starting point is 01:53:29 Jalen Brown is my tough six. It was hard for me to leave him out. Yeah. Okay, so I'll just repeat the list for everybody. I asked top five players in the league going into next season. Gil, you had Eshia at one. Yokech at two, Janis at three, Luca at four, LeBron at five. Mr. B you had SGA at one, Janis at two, Jokic at three, Luca at four, Donovan Mitchell at five. Ken you had Jokic at one,
Starting point is 01:53:57 Janis at two, SGA at three, Luca at four, KD at five, and last but not least, Money Making Sunday you had Wimby at number one SGA to Giannis at three Joker at four and Kate in that fifth spot with J. Lebron a very Yeah, close honorable mention. Yeah Lebron is still like Cuz what are you doing at his age? You still got to consider it cuz cuz you have to throw his age in there with this Closet for me close six on the list. I will take a look at this list.
Starting point is 01:54:31 No love for Ant-Man. No love for Bronte. Seven. Who? Ant-Man. You got him seven on your list? All right. Well, let's just.
Starting point is 01:54:42 I thought rings matter. Not in what your favorite but top players? No, no, let's just. I thought rings matter. And what, your favorite top players? No, no, no, no. No, I'm just saying, if we're talking. No, he shouldn't. He just said favorite top players, bro. It's my list, nigga, not yours. Yeah, stop moving the goal post with that dumbass shit.
Starting point is 01:54:58 Like. Because don't nobody pick no Cav players. Yeah, like, he did. Be pushy. You are somebody. You are somebody. I mean, I'm to East next year. Everybody's down. We're talking about next year, next season. Got a chance. Rings matter. In East or Jalen Brunson. I mean I was going back and forth for one of those two. No it's your list. No no no no he's saying there
Starting point is 01:55:21 didn't no Kebani Pickler. I said he did. No it's your list. Like no that's for you. He asked what No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, Because we won the MVP. We won the scoring title. Wes and Carmen's MVP. Vino's MVP. So, this is a problem that I have with all of it. With what? The concept of what actually matters. So, me, I went on TV to talk to Stephen A. Smith about something he said prior. And I asked him when he said rings matter. And I challenged that notion because of past articles that I've seen written by him and
Starting point is 01:56:41 other media that they don't matter because if they did matter then this is this wouldn't have happened right you wouldn't have said T Mac in 2004 to 2002 to 2004 would have been on the same level as Kobe or better when you guys was picking them if rings mattered if one had three and one had none, right? So when you say rings matter, and then you have a list right here, and then you have Yolkage's number one, that he has. So you're telling us rings matter, but after the motherfucker won a ring and swept the NBA,
Starting point is 01:57:19 you have them too. So you're telling me rings don't matter while screaming rings matter. So imagine being Shay and you wake up in the morning just like Kobe did with a ring and all these awards and you go on here and you see that you have another motherfucking front of you. So if you're Kobe Bryant in 2002, three and four and you sit here being compared to a man who don't have rings and you sitting there with three of them
Starting point is 01:57:45 Wouldn't you be a little like what the fuck does this all mean there? So if you're saying you wake up this morning and you got fucking four trophies sitting here with the king dickin balls And you sit in there and saying How is he number one? I beat him. I Beat him to get this both times I beat him for the MVP and I beat him to go to the championship to win these awards And you got another nigga in front of me So you're telling me none of this shit means nothing in real time means this is a real time Like we just finished one 48 hours ago
Starting point is 01:58:22 48 hours you got a list with me number two, but saying... I'm the most recent champion. I'm the most recent champion. Same thing last year. Last year, right? The list again. Tatum 5, Jaylen Brown 14. We champions, final MVP. One of us got up here one or two
Starting point is 01:58:48 If you care about lists you gonna keep getting your ass kicked in the balls You're ego gonna keep taking a thrashing because motherfuckers your expectations are trying to meet Criteria's of what public want you to be and that's what's gonna happen You're gonna keep fighting this narrative that somebody else who can't do what you do create So that you can chase and run up the ladder to try to sit back and say why is this no fucking really? That's what's gonna happen. You're gonna keep fighting this narrative that somebody else who can't do what you do create so that you can chase and run up the ladder to try to sit back and say, why is this little fucker really ranked head of the million?
Starting point is 01:59:10 Man, nobody give a fuck about that shit. Man, that's why I say, why you put his name on there? Like, we supposed to honor that shit when that's what Shay can do based on his list. Why he got me number two when I just did all this? It's just like, cause it really don't fucking matter. You the man, you won, you you number one and everybody under that list will
Starting point is 01:59:27 acknowledge that but everybody's gonna pick who they want because they gave you favorite players I got my favorite player I picked my favorite player cool but if we start going find these lists like they matter beyond both of y'all right though this month hold on to your point right you're 100% correct you're 100% correct Stephen A Smith said his ass right on this couch and Told us he voted for Shay Gilder's out of down for MVP. Yes. He definitely did Before the season was over
Starting point is 01:59:59 Set his ass right here and told us he voted for this man for MVP meaning he thinks he's the best player hands down on a quick way to best player in NBA and you come right to your point to your right now motherfucker and put a number two why would I trust your well I'm trusting anything why would I trust anything you're saying absolutely yeah so yes trust anything you're saying? Man! So yeah, so both of y'all absolutely right. It's full circle with these figures, man. Yeah, both of y'all are absolutely 100% correct
Starting point is 02:00:29 with this shit, like, you said in the... So why would you have Shay One? Because I like who I like. That's why. So you base your opinions off of no facts then, just how you feel. Bro, it says, who do you like going into the season? Who's in top five? It says, who do you like? No, it says, who do you like going into the season? Who do you like?
Starting point is 02:00:45 It says, who do you like? No, it says top five. Who am I going to pick my favorite player? No, it's top five. My favorite player. No, that's not what it said. What does it say? Put it up here again.
Starting point is 02:00:55 Tell me what it says. It said top five players going into next season. Top five players going into next season. No, it's not going to. Top five players going into next season. Now, who gets to pick that? So take the name, Ma. Hold on. And it's Rashad's top five players going into next season. Now, who gets to pick that? So take the name, Marv. Hold on.
Starting point is 02:01:06 The media. Are we asking me? Are we asking me? Are you asking me? We're the media. We're the media. So top five. Are you asking?
Starting point is 02:01:13 We are the media. So, Michelle McCann's top five players going into next season. So do I get to pick? Your top five players going into next season. Mine is to pick who I pick. So who did I pick? Yes, your five. OK, I pick my five. Yes. I pick my five because that's who I feel like is gonna be playing well next season
Starting point is 02:01:30 This is going into that's what I just said right just said that right and we are the media So I picked that list based on the trajectory of everyone. I think is gonna be playing well next year not based on who won MVP Yeah, right you you know this is a contradiction to your whole Kobe. He's trying. He's trying. I'm not trying. I'm saying, he won't let it go. When I made this statement of saying in 2002, my actual statement off of the facts that were going on in 2002, challenging the idea of ring culture and said if ring culture is a real thing
Starting point is 02:02:09 and it really means something, how could you have somebody with three rings being in the same conference of asking who's better with someone who doesn't have rings? And it was voting and all of this going on and you're saying he is the next mic control, he got rings and this and that. You was using the ring.
Starting point is 02:02:33 Who? You. No. And then I'm saying, and I'm saying, you're talking about three rings and all and I'm saying well they didn't use that then. See I don't think you knew
Starting point is 02:02:42 if we was on the fucking same top. I don't think you knew that I was challenging the fucking same top. I don't think you knew that I was challenging the ring culture because that's what fucked Kobe. The ring culture fucked Kobe. Kobe did nothing to fuck Kobe. What are you talking about? What fucked Kobe? Kobe Bryant won five championships.
Starting point is 02:02:56 And where is he ranked? Wherever anybody ranks him, bro. We don't go off no media shit. We don't care. It do. You keep bringing it back up like it means something like it doesn't his family his friends your using your emotional you're using negative connotations I'm using facts hope he's never gonna die bro a nigga just
Starting point is 02:03:19 won a championship a person just won a championship and you disregarded everything he did by putting Quimby up there. So how is your? It's my list. How is your list even worth it? I'm going to disrespect any nigga who thinks they supposed to get some shit on my watch. Nigga, nah, you didn't get it. Get to the back of the line now with your expectation, nigga. So what list matters though?
Starting point is 02:03:42 If you just put some- Exactly. What list matters? If we're media, what list matters though if you just put something exactly right? We're media what what list matters on this only matters to me. So no no you're giving your spewing It's what matters to you're fighting for somebody who just this is the same thing just happened to say what you just did What what what they did to go? Stretch it just happened to to Shay from the media. I'm not complaining. The media.
Starting point is 02:04:07 Kobe can't change his name. All we got the media, we just came here and just put a nigga number two after winning all these awards, the media did that. You not gonna bounce back. But you didn't scream championships matter. You not gonna bounce back from that. And then you get mad at me because I pointed out.
Starting point is 02:04:22 Championships matter. I hope you didn't get the championships matter. If you just did, if you came in here and said Shay was fun, then you, mad at me cuz I pointed out championships matter if you just You came in here say she was then you but you did I mean just one 48 hours ago and you came up here as the media and Disregarded everything to did it was he in the top you made no difference in the top five you did nothing in the top five Yes, no, yes. Huh? Yes. What's the inner? He's in there, right? Yeah, so you want more? Oh I if you sound like it Brian enough. Hey, listen, you're number three. No, no, no, no, no I'm number one. You got it. Put me there. No, no, it brings
Starting point is 02:04:57 Put you oh, hey, you're gonna be where I put you and I'm not changing your number now Cuz Gilbert keeps trying to make me change your number No, no, no, no, no, I'm going off of your logic in 2002 And it had Tracy McGrady number one Kobe's in the top five But you have a problem with that. I don't have a problem with shit. Yeah, you do. I don't The world has a problem I know you said you want to smoke get the smoke the world has a problem with what you say
Starting point is 02:05:29 The world the world has a problem with Me be Josiah on this text message the gills arena is glad they're doing this shit So I don't wake up the motherfucking Nigga you said you was ready for Yeah No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, He's the real Kobe fan. Hey, so why did he leave and duck yesterday? I went on TV What he said you got it boss man, you got it You got you know what he said in the group chat just case on the key side. You got it man. You you know, what he said in the group chat. Just case. Sorry to keep Sean You got it, man. You're sure here. He's not the problem with Kobe. Not me ball man He got it now. He got the energy. I just know it's five In it What you're reading it?
Starting point is 02:07:13 What's it for all when I went when I went up to And I don't say hold on dog when I went up to say we're not doing and I said if I'm Challenging the media who was writing articles in 2002. And I said homeboy. He asked me a question. I said homeboy. I don't want to hear what he's saying. Stop me.
Starting point is 02:07:31 And I said hey. How can rings matter? How can you say rings matter? In 2002 there was a guy coming off of three rings. How can you say rings matter if you put right there Tracy McGrady in front of him and y'all are doing this How can you say rings matter if this was actually a thing? The fact that for the first time Stephen A Smith couldn't say nothing because he couldn't say nothing because it was true They did do that then so I'm calling out the media to say you're bullshitting these players by doing it
Starting point is 02:08:04 He wants to jump out the window like I'm disrespecting Kobe on a fact this is a fact articles after articles of these media Doing this and they just did it again He was disrespecting Kobe did Nick say or did I say it? Did his friend say it or did I say I want you to jump down the window and do it? That's great tweeted it well his friend say it or did I see it? I want you to jump down the window and do it so it tweeted it Well, it's friend tweet. I don't love to smoke. He never did. He pretends he's a Kobe fan. He pretends he's a Kobe fan. And do not know what he's talking about.
Starting point is 02:08:50 This is y'all in the chat. You want them people to think you a Kobe fan and I'm disrespecting Kobe. You gotta know the history. I know he's tired of hearing me complain about it. Look at this energy. This is my fucking wife. I know she is sick and tired of me here. Complaining about you two motherfuckers and this goddamn tech.
Starting point is 02:09:08 Come on, eat Mr. Kobe. I woke up the other morning, Saturday morning, this fucking sick 30. I'm like, these motherfuckers can't stop. Kobe this, Kobe that. Cause I have him too, That's not what I have. I don't want to hear no nigga tellin' me where somebody else has it.

Everybody at All Star was annoyed with me because this is Kobe's signature. Mine. know it with me because this is Kobe's signature. My Kobe's my I made sure not another nigger set their asses because when I wanted to finish history and I
Starting point is 02:13:13 got the ball I wanted my signature with his. Your signatures are touching? Touching yes. So why did you say USA basketball? Are you saying USA basketball? 2006? I'm on it. I'm on the team. You said you know what number I want. Do you know what number I want? He said, you said, do you know what? Why you call him a sidekick? Do you know what number I want? Favorite player? Huh? Do you know what number I want? Ten. Ten. Why did I wear ten? Because he said it told me personally personally if he ever was on it

What's up, man, stop All your Kobe fans, there's only one nigga that got the same amount of the same old five. I'm not a Kobe fan You know what? I'm a student and we are students first. You know what your look at your You don't need to talk to me. I'll let you talk. Oh, yeah, you know what the rule was with the with the five rings Don't put these two next to those three
Starting point is 02:14:22 Make sure you don't have all five together. These two, don't put them next to these three. That was the only goddamn rule. His daughter, Gianna, my daughter, Gia. Gigi, Gia Grace, Gigi. You can not out, that's what I do that's who I was a fanatic but I'm not gonna spew my bias when I supposed to be media giving out neutral fucking information so if I say he was a sidekick I'm going off of what he was
Starting point is 02:15:02 saying then right are you acting like he didn't say he was robbing? Are we gonna pretend that's not what he said? We're not gonna pretend that the fourth ring was his best ring because nobody was giving him credit for the first three rings Huh? Did we not did that you know, you want to pretend that wasn't a thing. The fifth one is the sweetest Huh? I have to shack one his fourth one Huh? He's mad as a mother fuck, getting in the gym? Do you not know the history?
Starting point is 02:15:28 Let me tell you the history, sir. When they was comparing him and T-Mac, right? When T-Mac beat him in a scoring title, one average 31, average 32, at All-Star weekend, because I know you wasn't there, you were still probably in college, right? In All-Star weekend, when they're having this conversation amongst men, when Kobe was like I would have wanted you I had Shaq
Starting point is 02:15:50 I had Shaquille O'Neal. That's the only reason you beat me and team and team act is well I'm getting doubled and triple-teamed. I'm getting doubled and triple-teamed. You're playing one-on-one with Shaq is in the game So shit, what we're talking about you think you can stopone with Shaq is in the game. So shit, what we talking about? You think you can stop me if Shaq is not back? That's what the two titans is and we sit in our Oh shit, yeah. And then what happened? Eventually, Kobe got rid of Shaq, right? And then this is what you don't know. The very next year when Shaq was gone Kobe Kobe production was at 27 a game Went from 46 to 43
Starting point is 02:16:29 Didn't make first team made 13 didn't make all defense like he was before What you think they were saying in the locker room dog? Ah, see you say when you didn't have nobody you was gonna average about 32 33. What happened fam? What happened that? What happened? That was the question. For him to come back and do what? Average 35. First team, scoring title, first team all defense.
Starting point is 02:16:56 That's when we all shut the fuck up. God, there was no more talk. The king is here. That's what happened. The king is here. I told y'all when I got rid of Shaq what I was gonna do and he did it and nobody ever questioned him again but the 2002 96 97 98 that was that was a thing talking
Starting point is 02:17:20 about what happened in the past is not a knock against somebody's legacy because the legacy is already sealed, sir That goes for you and all the motherfuckers out there. You can't outcoby me and then the kobe stuff That's not how that's not how it works When I say he was a psychic because that's what i'm the robin. I want to fucking be batman I don't say there was no batman superman was batman and Robin. And he's arguing. I know I'm Batman. I'm Batman. I'm Batman.
Starting point is 02:17:47 That's what that was. I like the Cobies though. They cool. Are we done? Can we move on? Unless he got his Cobie stuff. I doubt it. So we doubt it.
Starting point is 02:18:05 So we done it. I just think he's an internet Kobe fan. I just think it's a chat Kobe style. Just like chats. I'll say this. Can I say my part? Yeah, go ahead. OK, I'll say this.
Starting point is 02:18:17 So everybody that's a Kobe fan out there, this is exactly what the mama mentality is. Discipline. To know when to center yourself when there's chaos all around you. Let that chaos disperse. When you stay silent, you stay sealed in your tone, you don't hear no other shit around you. It's only the truth. RIP to my homie.
Starting point is 02:18:48 Ain't nothing gonna replace you. Ain't no stats ain't no nothing gonna stop this mentality that you have spread throughout the cosmos my bro and we appreciate that. Anything outside that's distracting that we know it we see it we feel it push it to the side we know the side, we know what it is. We know what it is. But the people who fuck with Kobe like that, like I do, we not fans, we students and we learn from the great, we learn from the Kobe that we knew was trying to teach us something. Okay, so he must be one of these 2020 Kobe fans. So let me tell you, for all you fans that are 2020... That was my piece, so I ain't no rebuttal after this. No, I got it
Starting point is 02:19:27 For the 2020 fans that that's cool That that that that that that watered down the mama mentality the mama mentality is destruction It's fuck you and go That's the mama mentality precision poison death and go. That's the mamba mentality. Precision, poison, death by any means. That's what mamba mentality was. That's why they didn't like mamba mentality. That's why it became watered down and commercialed lies after. Oh, we all love mom nobody like mama mentality it was ruthless he didn't give a fuck about you does the snake care about you you in
Starting point is 02:20:11 his way it's biting sir what I did to you was mama mentality what you did here with the peace and love and the brother that's the new shit bro. I'm the man. That's the new Don't even know what a mongoose is and he'll always be a mongoose to me Always he don't know it till look it up. I'm a mongoose mongoose do he snacks? Hey, I want Rashad you man see I
Starting point is 02:21:03 Don't have a body bag. I don't have a body. Yeah, we know it's for you in it, Right? This is why I say he knows nothing. Can the chat do it for him? Please chat, tell him the punch line of what he just said. Here we go, watch it. I don't know if the chat's gonna do their cash abs in. Mongoose Gille. Mongoose Gille. See, you're not one of the Titans. Kobe was the black mamba. Who can you Google? Who was the black mongoose? This nigga is so-
Starting point is 02:21:35 Who was supposed to be the black mamba? Everybody know it. So you just gave me the mamba and you gonna eat it with the mongoose? Oh my God. Wow. Who was the you gonna eat it with the mongoose That's what the nickname was after I scored 60 you caught yourself the black mongoose. Oh wow What happened to that? Did you keep it? Where the Mamba Goose been all day? He tried to eat me with my name. Talk about you don't even know what the Black Mamba Goose is.. Talk about you don't even know what the black mongoose is.
Starting point is 02:22:26 Right, because you didn't even know what the mamba was. The true end of me is that fault. I know what the black mongoose was. All right, well hopefully this will alleviate any more further text messaging. We have one last thing to get to. Why you falling crash? He talking about he wanted, I told you, man,
Starting point is 02:22:43 this is not the smoke you won't man. Well Let's get this moving. So we have one more thing before we get to mostly fans We have to check I like it not to read it. Yeah Like I would not. Who the Black Muggles is, man. I don't respect for the original. They know who the Black Muggles was. Don't fuck that. Read everything else. We know who the Black Muggles was, man.
Starting point is 02:23:10 We can't have both. Read that shit. So, we asked the chat, who has more Kobe-ness? 79% of the chat said Gil. What was the other one? What was the other one? The first question that was, there was two questions that was asked.
Starting point is 02:23:21 Who was writing this discussion? I don't know what those numbers are Recollection, what was it? It was like 60 to 65 30 something like that. So I'm just saying no You know, I'm the realest on the fucking couch and I keep things what they should be He can't have when he motherfucking think he went in the argument I actually chat what the fucking chat think and you want a motherfucking high with the chat was saying just now It don't fucking work that way Joe side not with me. So we're not gonna do that So he want to know in the wings that then we go tell him in the losses So fuck that now. I just hope that you two motherfuckers
Starting point is 02:24:02 I hope Refrains that Okay, you want to base this off of his rant and then my response Like when we having a debate here or whatever you want to classify it is You say ask the chat then your phrase is what is it obvious? It's it obvious so therefore that wasn't the question well, but my thing is that wasn't the question I asked the question I bet you go 80 but you asked hey man. Take them shoes Shoes off brother. I don't think you didn't represent. Well, I'm just saying I'm speaking about because I don't want to wake up. No fucking more mornings and you two niggas

No, just say how you want to see it So you shouldn't bring them up no more Bro no more random link in the motherfucking chat for everybody to fucking enjoy And all I get is Kobe this it ain't Kobe that and I'm like, yo No, I just do a random link in just something we can talk about and that's all I get nigga You know what you do and stop. Okay, so now you think I'm doing something that's different. That's your thing I mean, I'm If you got some shit on Twitter, right, that pop up, you gotta throw that shit in there.
Starting point is 02:25:29 Do I not do the same thing? If he throws some shit in the chat, do I not do the same thing? He wants to answer. It's a topic of discussion. I'm not the only person to think that. He's the only one that's answering in the group chat though. The only motherfucker that's crazy enough to respond in a certain way is this motherfucker Shug. He interjects himself in this shit all the time and I be like, I want to text this nigga all the time, Shug, shut the fuck up.
Starting point is 02:25:54 This shit ain't got nothing to do with you. I'm going to just sit my ass in the book. Exactly. But what y'all telling the real life? But why y'all not telling the truth though? Why y'all not telling the truth though? Because he's a LeBron fan. He keeps trying to pretend I'm the LeBron fan.
Starting point is 02:26:13 Tell the truth though. I don't want to have this conversation. I don't want the argument, the debate, the conversation. But you bringing it up and you leaving shit out. No, who bringing it up? I'm just, I don't want to have, listen. But you're leaving shit out, okay? All the things I'm leaving out is. Is the truth. Starting point is 02:28:02 is to silence it. I can't remove myself. I try to remove myself multiple times. And we bring your ass right back in here. If you do it in silence and get off, having a conversation. The only thing I'm trying to do, the only thing I could do is to silence it. I can't remove myself. I try to remove myself multiple times. If you do it in your style and you know having a conversation. It makes it one sided. This is why Brandon, it makes it one sided. When I throw something in the chat, nobody responds but Gil. Exactly.
Starting point is 02:28:10 So if I throw random shit, he does. He does. So listen to what you just told me. This is what you just revealed. Listen to what you just revealed. Listen to what you just revealed. Listen to what you just revealed. Y'all are watching a dead body talk.
