Gil's Arena - Victor Wembanyama Is About To TAKE OVER The NBA!!
Episode Date: October 23, 2025Victor Wembanyama Proved He's About To TAKEOVER The NBA according to Gilbert Arenas as Gil & The Gil's Arena Crew react to Wemby's 40 point performance to tip off the NBA Season and break down how the... San Antonio Spurs superstar is taking the leap in his 3rd NBA Season. They highlight his unbelievable night on the court and debate if his unique offseason training featuring Shaolin monks & Hakeem Olajuwon unlocked a new level in his game before breaking down how the Spurs may be positioned as the NBA's next Oklahoma City Thunder level dynasty with their superstar in Wembanyama surrounded by an elite core of young players. They then shift over to the other side of the court to break down Cooper Flagg's NBA Debut where the #1 overall pick struggled to get going in his first NBA regular season game, sparking a debate on if the Dallas Mavericks should reconsider running their new face of the franchise at point guard to start his NBA Career. Next, they move over to analyze the 3rd pick in this summer's NBA Draft as VJ Edgecomb shined by dropping 30 points in his NBA Debut and ushered in a new era for the Philadelphia 76ers led by himself & Tyrese Maxey. The Gil's Arena Crew breaks down the Sixers' ceiling with the young guards leading the way and discuss if it's time to be concerned about Joel Embiid as the process looked dreadful in the first game of the season. He wore my shirt.
We got a lot of things to discuss.
Some things we may not discuss, we shall see.
But here's what's cracking.
I know, we got something to discuss.
I'm good for all the trolling.
That's cool, but Rachel Nichols is foul.
What did Rachel Nichols do give?
She used my video and she actually wrote that I possibly snitched.
Oh, no.
Right.
Listen, I'm going to troll with the best of them.
But to ask that question, because then it makes me really want to, like, first of all, two of them niggas is gambling on NBA.
One is throwing poker games and robbing his friends.
Gang, got shit to do with me.
I'm going to tell on this, nigger.
Wow.
I'm just, I'm just, I'm going to tell on him.
I mean, my case is all a whole bunch of Igor,
egores and igors, right?
And I don't like this what's going on.
I see the word mafia.
Yeah.
But the only faces I see is Negroes.
Not cranks'all mafia.
NBA.
You know what I mean?
It's in me, like, wait a minute.
Hold on, man.
Like, what's going on here?
What's your going on?
What the NBA do to y'all?
Rather polite.
I have to think about it's mafia, but it's just local black.
You've been around brother now.
He's been around brother now.
The international crime bosses, blacks.
Hey.
Okay.
You need a face.
They don't got jumpers.
You need a face.
They don't got jumpers.
None of them got caught.
I'm going to sit like, look, I watch enough movies and know the last group you want to snitch on is the mafia.
Adam Silver, you wasn't going to open those arenas up in polling stations.
I'll listen, I'll watch date line.
They still ain't found people since 1947.
I like my YouTuber career.
And we enjoy it as well,
you're blessed to be employed by the good folks
over at Underdog Woo-Woo.
But we have some...
What?
No, is Quarmy still out?
Because I swore I told on him plenty of time.
Still in YouTube jail.
Like Georgia, like he's in your area.
just pull up you gonna find something that's just pull up you gonna find something
you gonna find him his brother one of them who no he's still what a Dilo shirt today
Dilo oh oh I said what a Dilo no but I don't have a problem with little Dito you got a problem
with a little Dilo I don't that's my buddy that's my guy that's your personal buddy
I don't inherits your beef.
That's great.
Unless you asked me to.
But I should have wore that.
You should have wore that.
I wasn't thinking on my feet.
That's a good one.
Yeah.
That would have been a good one.
Moving onward and upward, here's what's cracking in Gil's Arena today.
Wimby put the league on notice with a 40 piece to spoil Cooper Flagg's NBA debut.
Is it too early to put the alien in the WIMVP discussion for this season?
Damn no. Sixers got off to a good start thanks to a 40 piece from Tyrese Maxie and a historic performance from rookie VJ Edgecom.
What?
But at the time for the Sixers to move on from their former MVP, the process looked like processed meat.
And the Knicks got their first win in the Mike Brown era.
Are they the favorites to come out of the east this season?
But before we get into all of that, as always, this show is brought to you by the good folks at Underdog.

So, yesterday on the show, we talked about MJ making his first appearance on NBA on NBC with the first installment of his Insights to Excellence series.
During his interview with Mike Tariko, Jordan told a story about the last time he picked up a basketball when he rented a house during the Rider Cup from the owner who pulled up for a meet and greet with his grandkids and had Jordan shoot one free throw.
Well, ex-user, my body tutor, dropped the video Wednesday confirming the story.
Let's take a look.
What I'm sorry, granddad?
Well, that's too damn bad.
Hey, that's fucking.
Now, do the shrub.
No, that's it.
That's too damn bad.
That's it.
Holes is a good boy.
How much respect y'all have for MJ stepping up to the challenge?
He got the grandkids there in Jordan, Jersey.
He said this is going to be a reflection of how they viewed him.
They didn't get to see him playing his career.
his free throw could have changed and altered the course of their fandom.
But what y'all think about if they're stepping up to knock down their free throw?
Everything we said last...
As to his legacy, I mean, it just, like just shows that he's always on, man.
When it's time, like, when it's time to perform for a fan, it seems like it never fails.
I mean, when you think about it like that, like...
Oh, man.
No, I mean, in reality.
That's cool.
No, in reality.
Have you killed?
No, I'm just saying in reality.
We did what we did.
I'm talking about in just the thought of reality.
He always showed up in big games when it came to, like, fandom.
He never felt.
So you got little kids out there who got the jersey on and boom.
You can't make a free thing.
Do we feel like those kids were coerced into wearing MJ jerseys?
Like, granddad just showed up with the jerseys, put these on, we're going to beat Mike.
That's crazy.
Mike, shoot the free throw like I tell you to fit it.
He missed that.
What happened?
He just sure another one.
LeBron.
That's all they're going to do is just post the one he made.
LeBron James fans would have been like, that's why he ain't.
That's why he's not.
LeBron ain't missed the free throw at 62.
I don't know, man.
I don't know, man.
LeBron got on cost of nothing and was breaking a bunch of shit.
So I think Mike's sinking that motherfucking free throw kind of solidified.
It does.
It does.
You know, being live and being on video.
you can sink and show up
for the people who fans
I mean we did see the gold
we're going to goad and goad it
it's gold and goad it got damn
he didn't make a brick a bunch of shit
his switch
but he shot it with his eyes open
net
nothing but net
close your eyes to shoot
man he doesn't did it before
he doesn't did it before
we're not going to compare the two
there ain't no comparison now
that's the
that's the saddestest
about life
life life is
He's just sad, bro.
If that is part about that, it's life.
You see how old he looks?
Like, he's 62.
Like, we know he's 62, but, like, that's the logo and, you know, it's like, man, he
look old.
Like, I don't like that.
Life goes on.
Like, I know, I know it goes on, but I don't, like, we just, you know.
You ain't ready to see Mike like this.
Yeah, no.
Okay.
Better than life than Jill.
I don't like, like, when you look at, like, Kareem and all in any.
Yeah.
Yeah, bro.
Like, yeah.
Oh, man.
I know it's life, but it just...
Sixty-two.
Certain people, you want them to stay at a certain age
and how they look, just...
Live forever.
Shout out to MJ.
Shout out to NBA on NBC.
Story confirmed.
There were 12 games around the league last night,
but one performance had the entire basketball world detention,
and that was last night before this morning.
Wednesday night marked the debut of number one overall pick,
Cooper Flag, in a matchup against number two pick
Dylan Harper as a Spurs,
pulled up to Dallas to take on the Mabbs.
But Wimby stole the show
and his return to the court for the first time
in eight months with his sophomore season
cut short by a blood clot in his shoulder.
So after a summer training with Shawa Lynn Monks,
KG, and even Hakeem Olajuwon,
Wimbi put the league on notice
that the future is now.
So let's take a look at some of the highlights.
Alien came through with the historic performance
dropping 40 points, 15 rebounds in three blocks
while going 15 to 21 from the field.
As the Spurs proves to a 30-point
blowout. The 40 piece was the most points
in the season opener in Spurs' franchise
history. Winby the fourth player
in NBA history with 40 points, 15 rebounds
and zero turnovers in a game.
Last season's rookie of the year
Stefan Castle looked great as well, finishing with
22.7 boards and 6-9s
on 8 to 12 shootings.
And Dylan Harper led the Spurs bench with 15
points and 23 minutes of action.
Yeah, he was doing a lot of shit out there
that I've never seen a 7'5
person to do.
And I don't know if I'll see it again.
You ain't seen a lot of NBA.
Regular heighty.
This one right here.
This one, oh.
And the foul.
Four point play.
Like the stat says,
we'll meet 100 games with 2 plus blocks,
40 piece to kick off year three.
That is AD.
All defensive level forward making them look silly.
Fade away, perfect.
How do you stop that?
So before we get into the Wimmy discussion,
after the game Wembe had this to say about how all the hard work
he put in the summer translated to the court.
Me, it's just what we work for, you know.
All of us got our own battles and struggles
and God knows I work hard in the summer.
So it's paying off, you know, all dreams are allowed now, you know.
I've just got to be back because after what I've lived,
it means something.
The mine, I'm not worried about because I so, I so
what it's like to be confronted with, you know, potentially losing a lot, whether it's
your career or your health, you know, so I'm not taking this for granted anymore.
But the body, it's, it's, I'm having more fun now that I'm not struggling to move as much,
you know, and I know I still need to get better, and I'm still going to get better.
So before a season, any injury, Wimby was averaging 24 points, 11 rebounds, 4.5.
blocks, the 46 games last year made his first all-star appearance.
He appears to taking this game to a whole other level based on this one game sample
size, so I don't want to get ahead of myself, but is it too early for the WIMBVP discussion?
Listen, we thought this was possible, like we've seen the defensive side of what we talked
about. Now, we talked about his offense wasn't like on par and the fact that he's, in year
three, he looks very, very different from when he did when he first came in. Like, he showed
us that he had real skill-like talent, but it looked like it was Parkley basketball. Now it seems
like he actually understands how to play what he's dominated at, and it just displayed. And
in game one.
So, I mean, this is, he's going to be, as long as they're winning,
like defensively, he's a defensive player at a year.
We know that.
Now he's putting an offense like this, and I mean, it's going to be,
here we go, youngest, maybe.
So let's shift over.
Shot, I see you.
You got the pot out.
What you're cooking right now?
Oh, what I'm cooking?
A lot of the Negroes out there know what I'm cooking.
Got that ramen.
Y'all ain't never, y'all,
from the hood, so y'all don't know what this shit is.
This is called Uru's and Udals.
This is what we was cooking last night.
Y'all don't know nothing about that even.
You know, this is the authentic Wimbunjanja.
This is the Wimbenjonga jersey.
Okay, we got a little ingredients we need to pull out
because, you know, if I'm not mistaken,
you know, he worked out with Akeem Olajewan.
Okay.
This summer, right?
You have some seasoning?
I do have some seasoning.
Okay.
Hey, that looks like the same food they sell in prison.
Are you trying to tell me something?
We got a little bit...
You're trying to tell me some.
You got a little bit of everything, man.
I should get used to this meal.
No.
A little bit of everything in there, man.
You know, we'd be cooking up here.
You know what I'm saying?
You're cooking.
We put a little bit of Cooper flag in there.
We got some Cooper flag.
We're going to put a little Cooper in there.
We're going to put a little Cooper in there.
Because, you know...
The smell of noodles.
now engulfing the arena.
He got his, he got his daughter explorer packaging.
There's a little Cooper flag in there.
All that came out that bag?
It's a lot more in his bag, now.
Is that actual citizen?
Is the Cooper flagged actually Sydney or is it just?
It's the Cooper flag season.
You got the special forces.
You got a little bit of...
Nah.
I made that happen.
You know what I'm saying?
You said Cooper should play point guard too, you know what I'm saying?
Yeah, a little bit in there.
I said that?
I said that.
I mean, you was agreeing.
Did I say that?
No.
That's what I'm saying.
Me and you were on the same page.
But y'all friends, you still went home and agreed.
It was me and you said pick him up full court.
I started that.
It's okay though.
Still went home to agree.
He forgot.
Everybody, he forgot his argument.
Guilty biggest season.
It was us two versus the difference.
The difference is that.
It was me and Kenyon.
The Keem Ologin one, he got a lot of Keene out there.
You know what?
He looked good out there, so.
Gil, the largest seasoning of the seasoning.
With that a little bit, what, tough crowd?
I'll bring some tough crowd in there.
Stuff crowd in there, you know what I'm saying?
The most flavorful of the season.
But yeah, man, you know, when miniana?
No merely host seasoning because I'm merely a host.
I do not participate.
You ain't here somewhere.
You ain't here somewhere.
You ain't here somewhere.
I'll put you in that too.
You don't just say you're not left out.
You know what I'm saying?
The best-looking seasoning on the couch.
40-15, first game.
Everybody talking that Cooper flag shit.
He felt some type of way.
I think, you know, all of the alien fans felt some type of way, too.
It said, who's the king of Texas?
Who's the king of Texas?
It's wind bin-jonga.
Also known as Wamba Wamba.
Man, we go on with the Spurs.
You know, I'm working with the Spurs this year.
So, Rashad, before we continue, you were still a free agent.
Had yet to elect the team, but after seeing Victor, Rumiyama dropped 40 to 15.
Oh, that bullshit back here.
Three blocks.
Put all that shit back in that bag.
Put you back in the bag?
Put you back in the bag?
He was on your side.
He ain't on my...
Nick ain't never been on my guy at the side.
You started.
He was with Cooper Flagg.
But Cooper Flagg, it was with Cooper Flagg to know who...
It can't ever been on my guy outside.
There ain't any young niggas on my side.
Y'all know y'all all...
He hurt the world.
What happened?
But, like I said...
Whimpin' Johnja?
You see, he's talking...
He's talking like he's on the monks.
Like he got the monk shit.
with him.
That enlightenment.
He's saying different words, niggas, don't understand.
He's up there speaking shit.
He's like, what are you doing meditation?
He's doing meditation shit.
We're talking to different shit.
And it looked different out there.
He looked like he'd been training with a Keen Malajuan.
That's what it looked like.
He wasn't doing shit like that.
But I want to say he's getting the game now, and I'm proud of him.
You could tell he worked hard.
He ain't no longer, I don't want to say because it's just the first sample size,
but he's not a thing.
He's not a lunchtime baller no more.
He called him a long time baller last year.
The shorts are under the jeans, ready to hoop at any moment.
Yeah, yeah.
That good 30 minute window.
He made varsity now.
He'll need the hoop at it.
No lunch.
You don't need to get sweaty for, you know, fifth period, six period.
Team.
Yeah, I think like, you know, I think this summer, you know, like they said, when he took that
trip to China, I saw him with pitchers with KG, walking with Akim Olazwan.
So you could tell that he really wants to, you know, be a student.
of the game. I think when he went to China and, you know, spiritually, I think that helped
him out a lot. You know, you could tell you got stronger. And you can just tell just his intensity,
you know, yes, it's the first game, but, you know, you missed out on being a defensive player
of the year last year because of injury. You come back, you work on your body, you make a statement
the first game. He definitely going to be in a conversation for MVP. And definitely if you make
the 65 mark, you know, he'll be a defensive player of the year. So, yeah. He picked three guys.
Drivelin, he had Jamal Crawford.
Yeah, Jamal Crawford too.
Yeah.
He worked on his defense with KG and they worked on his post moves with Hakeem, right?
And that was the point of my comment about Hakeem.
Hakeem learned his footwork from soccer when he was 10.
So it was natural for him.
Guys who don't have footwork.
it's hard for them to pick this up.
Yeah.
Wimby, Yokic, Joel and Bede, mostly all guards, right?
The Rosen Types, Shea, Luca, they can go to Hakeem because he can just teach him the moves.
They already have the basics.
When you're talking about just pure athleticism, guys who just use athleticism, they can't pick that up because they don't even have the basics of it.
Yeah.
Right?
It is like, you know, like Michael Jordan teaching jumpers how to jump in the Frito line, right?
There's only a certain group, one-legged jumpers that got that kind of, if Curry took his class, or anybody who jumped up, Dominique Wilkins, you can't jump off of one foot.
That's a waste of your money.
Right?
So the fact that he went there, it was just like you can, you can see it.
Game one, you can see it in preseason that he absorbed in a short period of time.
when he was teaching.
Yeah, Hakeem is more beneficial to him than, like, just, like, when Yannis went.
Yeah.
Like, it wasn't more beneficial to Yonah.
It was more beneficial to Wimby because Wimby also played soccer.
Yeah.
Yeah, yeah.
I do see a lot of Yonis.
I can see how, like, the work acted, how Yannis got stronger.
You can see how hard he worked.
I could see that he watched a lot of Yonis too, though.
Who?
Oh, Wimby, yeah.
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah.
Hmm.
Hmm.
I mean, I promote.
being a student in the game. I think Wembe is just like that. I think every other player who goes
and seeks out anybody else's tutelage wants to learn from the game, regardless if you pick it up
or not, that's what you are a student for. You go and find out whether it is for you or not
and whether you can put it into your game or not. And I just remember knocking guys for trying.
I'm trying to go get it from over here. Let me go pick it up here. Regardless if I fall twice,
get up three times, still going to keep trying it.
Because at some point when you do it enough, it becomes muscle memory.
And when it becomes muscle memory, that's when I go out there and you start looking apart.
Start looking like, oh, this shit work now because I've done it enough.
It's repetition.
You go and you study the fundamentals.
And becoming a student at a game is most important for the students because you are going to learn from your master, your teacher.
And if you can do that, you will then see that all the results of hard work, paying attention to the details.
looking at why it worked for them.
And that's why Kobe Bryant was Kobe Bryant
because he went to Michael.
He went to Jerry.
He wanted to study Elgin Baylor.
He wanted to know the past.
And when you can understand the past
and why it worked for them,
it could start to work for you.
So Wembe is the first of many.
I think a lot of other players,
they want to go do it.
They get knocked for it.
Don't worry about getting knocked for it.
Go learn.
Go learn.
Get off the fucking video game.
Get off the fucking 2K, go learn.
You're training.
You're training.
Who knocks people for training?
We're working out, trying to get better.
Say what?
You're saying that like...
You're speaking English, maybe?
I'm just saying that like people knocking people for going like,
if I go ask Gil, let's work out.
That's a bad thing.
If you think that you're not good enough to go work out with Gil.
But having the maturity with me to reach out to Jamal Crawford,
reach out to K.
reach out that came, that's obviously three guys you can learn a lot from.
But just even at 21 years old, those are the people that, that's what he does.
When it comes to just training and working out and improving your skill,
there's skill development and then there's just working out, right?
Most players just work out.
They just think working out twice a day is me getting, skill development is very different.
Now, when it comes to skill development, you have to really break your game down
to see where you need to improve
and then improve on what you have.
So Winby,
everything he's good at and he wants to improve in,
he actually went to the people
that he felt was experts in that field.
Right?
The way he, his dribble style,
if you think about it,
and all the little tricky moves he likes to do,
that is Jamal Crawford.
Right, when you're looking about,
defense. He has Tim Duncan and David Robinson in his backyard, but he's a frail, skinny
type. He plays more like KG. He goes to KG. He wanted footwork. I'm pretty sure KG told him,
yo, go down to Hakeem to get your feet right. That's not my thing. That's his thing. So you can
see the people that his game kind of finals through go to the expert at it.
Him and Hakeem, I think, sat next to each other at the final four when I'm saying to the
champions you can't handle too no no he was a he was a one-on-one
but to get it from Jamal I mean because like even last night you saw him he
had that thing up here so he's not working out with no trainers that don't know
nothing about the game you know just picking out random guys saying I'm all here and
I got this person this person this person in the gym and we just getting shots up and
come on man that's where the game has been regulated to that's why everybody's
everybody looked the same out there and that's why he looked different you're
working out with just a trainer who passing you the ball you just getting shots up
this trainer culture that we've seen I mean we've talked about it over and over
again so when you see that it's like all right you see your game has not changed
your game has not evolved at all somebody's game had changed in one in one year
shit come on man somebody doing something right somebody doing something wrong
I advocate for that
And this is a maturity perspective too, like he said in his post-game comments, suffering
that blood clotting his shoulder last season, knowing that it could all be taken away from
you.
Obviously he hit the ground running hard the summer once he was free and clear to start working
out again.
And shit, the maps bore the brunt of it.
The regular season opener, 40 and 15.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I truly believe it was that China trip though.
That set it off.
So I'm different.
I think it was a blood cop.
I think like he said, the thing that could have took him away from the game and set him
out forever, not play no more, I think that's a realization, you know, can create post-traumatic
stress for you when you're thinking that, damn, man, if I don't fix this, I might not play
again.
So he's out there with a whole different sense of urgency when it comes to the game.
You can tell.
He won't leave his mark.
He want everybody to fear him now.
I'm different.
Mm-hmm.
Mama mentality.
he is fierce so wimby reportedly grew two inches this all season has put on 30 pounds
that's entering the league in 2023 last season he relied heavily on the three ball you don't
think he gave what gill they said he grew two inches in height he do look tall 7 3 to 7 5
you say he grew 2 inches i'm gonna get hit with the pause in the chance what was this what was
his measurements in uh rookie camp 7 3 without his shoes 7 5 were the shoes so you
year one, they measured him without his shoes.
With his shoes, they listed that.
That's all they do.
That's the tricky read with it.
There's with shoes and without shoes.
But you don't stop growing until, what, 22nd?
22, yeah.
It is possible, though.
He did.
But he said he was 7-3 last year.
He got a shoe-owned.
They just used in 7-5.
Because I went back to some of these people, and I looked at KD, like, what was KD listed at?
Without his shoes, without his shoes as a rookie, he was 16.5.
His shoes themselves, this is 18, so even if he didn't grow, he was all of seven foot.
Because his KD's shoes was one and a half to two inches.
So he came in as a rookie on the basketball court as a seven-footer.
I went back to sit.
Usually it's guards like BJ.
they don't want to use their shoes off height,
so they use their shoes on height.
Usually, like, three, fours and fives.
If they're taller, they want to use shoes off height
so they don't get, you know, like if I want to be a three
and I'm six, nine with my shoes on,
I'm going to say I'm like six, seven.
Right, so any shoe company is pulling the same thing.
Okay.
You know, like LeBron James is six, eight and a half
with his shoes off, which on a quarter,
six ten and a half because his shoes is two inches that's why when I say
he's six the same thing with Luca yeah Luca like Luca's not six seven he's not
six five six seven six nine Luca hell yeah have you stood next to him I was
same when I saw Alan Iverson he's biggest he's towering you my name no he's not
taller than me way taller my son taller than you I'm just saying he got me he got
I see my little.
He almost said.
He probably almost dead.
Look is big as hell.
How are the noodles doing?
Oh, six, seven.
Simmering.
Simmering.
Simmering.
I got it on low right now.
Got to get the simmer.
We just started.
We just did start it.
I'm sure it'll reach a full boil in just a moment.
But back to Whitney.
Like I said, last season, he relied heavily on the three ball.
Nearly half of his Hillgo attempts coming from deep.
He only attempted two threes in this game, took 21 shots to them were threes.
To showcase the deep bag array of moves.
and Bucketting inside the art.
You know, like last night, about just basketball in general.
I seen a lot of different stuff last night from some of the stars in the lead that I really like.
But Wimby, for me it's two people that's probably three right now that's going to be MVP.
Who are your top three for MVP right now?
Ant-Man, that's my favorite.
Okay.
Fortyp.
Okay, I put him on side.
Because he's Adidas, so I'll put him with him.
Jai for sure.
We will talk about Tometri.
You see them last night?
We will talk about Tometrius.
He's back!
He's back!
We got somebody that's challenging that French here.
Our American star, our American.
The American star.
Tremit, I will.
Are you?
You see it right?
You can say, Luca.
I can say, Luca.
What we say?
He's that late.
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah, yeah, man.
We got the same list.
We have the same list.
What are we got to say?
Maxie?
Huh?
Who?
I mean, it was a lot of stellar performances last year.
For MVP?
Man, y'all don't stop with the, man.
We're talking about MVP candidates.
He named three.
You said Maxi.
The top three are going to be Urals.
And then you could add the mother to.
Are you?
Are y'all?
Are y'all?
I've been saying this for two years, man.
It's a European league, man.
Here we go, bro.
I mean, I mean, there are some Americans that want to fight.
Aunt Jo.
and Tyrese
other than that
ain't no Americans
doing
ain't no Americans
doing nothing
you keep saying
that last one
what
you keep
you say the last one again
we're talking about
MVP race
well I mean
we were talking about
after one game
so after one game
the Americans
that who were
Tyree Maxey
we wasn't talking about
Auntman
who was not saying
we didn't say nothing about
we didn't say nothing about
no no this is
no he's talking about
we're talking about
we're talking about
we can't just be talking about
what we think
We're talking about after one game.
So, yeah, we only had three Americans that sold up.
What you say?
The WIMVP right now.
Yeah, one VP.
If you just meet up some of it.
No, because you put, you said in the MVP race and I don't think.
No, he said, who's going to be in the MVP race?
And I say that's cap.
And I'm telling you, that's cap.
I'm telling you, this is a year.
This is a European league.
You said, you said cap and then it didn't matter.
Right, because I'm adding three Americans.
I'm adding three Americans that went off.
You guys, you got, I'm talking about three Americans that only went off.
I said Lucas, he's not American now.
He's American now.
Luca Jermaine Donchick says moving to Los Angeles.
He said, I don't believe in the Americans?
Maxis.
No, you said, so I'm naming Maxx.
We only played one game.
I mean, we do have the potential to have a
All foreign first team.
I'm sick of this country.
All these snitches and just, right?
Motherfucking rhyming this shit.
Yeah, you ain't never had no rhyming.
bro. It's okay, Nick.
Hey, Trump.
Look, you see that? You don't know what that is.
We got to know.
He ain't never had no robin.
He's anti-American.
Don't get them.
Not trying to make America great.
LA, Nick ain't never had no top ramen, man.
Y'all got to talk to your boy.
The uddles and noodles of noodles.
Oh, man.
Udals and Gills are presented by a underdog, whoop-wo.
Did you see how Winby made A.D. book?
Yes.
It was unfortunate.
Okay.
Okay.
Nasty work.
It was unfortunate.
Nasty work.
Cooper showed up for work and didn't show out.
So, we asked the chat, is it too early to put Winby in the MVP discussion?
65% of the chat says it is not too early.
We know what we just saw.
He got 64 games left to be eligible.
Let's make sure we get them there.
And shout out to Ms. Johnson, too, taking over for Pop.
Who?
Ms. Johnson, the Spurs' new head coach.
Oh, yeah.
Took over for Pop last year when Pop was doing with situations.
Are we going to talk about the Cooper Flag at the point guard position?
Oh, that's what all this is for.
It's about that.
Spurs, then math.
I know you're ready.
You pulled it up there.
I was just trying to.
I know you're ready to cook.
It's December.
This is for the whole show.
I got a lot of shit talking about.
I've been cooking for three years.
I've been cooking for three years.
This is a culmination of cooking.
We got a couple more Spurs things, and we'll move over to the map.
So Spurs have assembled a solid young roster, along with an NBA-level guard in Deer and Fox.
back-to-back rookie of the years
and Wimby and Stefan Castle
Dylan Harper
number two overall pick
15 points and 23 minutes off the bench
look very solid
some would say more impressive than Cooper Flag
in this first game given
Flagg played 32 minutes
Dylan Harper played 23 minutes
but when you look at this Spurs roster
we talked about this last week
how excited we were for this team
with the potential of this team was
but if you have Wimby playing at this level
with this roster are the Spurs
positioning themselves to be the next
thunder in the West
No, yeah, I mean, listen, Spur, Dallas was, is in mostly everyone's top three to top five, right, that that should, you know, have a chance to win it all.
And the fact that that young Spurs team man handled that team made them look irrelevant, you know, even AD, like AD you're supposed to be like top tier defensive player, right?
It's like how Embed and all the older guys was making Wendy look his rookie year, it's payback time.
And he's showing, okay, yeah, yeah, yeah, y'all got me my first year, and I'm a rookie, but all right, let's, all you guys who say y'all are defensive players, what's happening?
Game one on a defensive guy who, usually in the top five in that category, 4015 was happening.
France finally winning a war.
Yeah, I feel like for the Spurs.
I mean, with their young core, well, Wimby, I'm not making no moves.
Yeah, you know, I'm going to keep them together.
And with the Spurs, you know, with their franchise is about developing young talent
and how they've been since Tim Duncan's been there.
And they've always got guys that, you know, a lot of people weren't high on.
So I think right now you just stick with what you have.
And then in a couple of years, maybe two or three years, they could be very big contenders in league.
Spurs have solid, young core, a lot of draft assets.
Yeah.
Financial flexibility.
There are some names out there that may be looking yonder in the next couple of years.
So the potential for them to even strengthen that roster.
But I just stands right now with this crew.
I'm chilling.
I'm staying.
I'm staying where I'm at.
Man, from the Spurs.
We're going to talk who, man.
Top the bottom, San Antonio Spurs, as far as their whole roster is concerned,
you got Vassel, you got Johnson, you got Sohan, you got Harper, you got Castle, you got Deer and Fox.
You got a sleeper in loop coordinator.
I was going to tell you, Luke Corrine.
And you got Kelly O'Lenick still over there on the side.
Like, the coach has already allowed the implementation of what the organization represents,
which is team cohesiveness, play together, play hard, play smart.
So a lot of the Carolina stuff that we had when we was playing,
as far as just go out there and don't let them play harder than you.
And I think Stefan Castle being a champion,
And Wemby knowing what it feels like in the last two years to be behind the ball as far as he wasn't getting the ball that much the first two years that we was complaining about.
Why don't just go through him, go through him, allow him to do all this stuff.
So what we're seeing now is the coach saying, listen, we're going to go through WMB, y'all going to play off him.
But then you actually have a dynamic player like Stefan Castle that can just drive and dunk like Vince Carter.
Get in the lane and just, ah, then you got Fasel, who's a mini guy.
Between the two, I called them both like Janobu.
You got Deeran Fox, who is a Tony Parker, and then you got him, the wimby is with being Tim Duncan.
You got Sohan being a Boris D.L type.
You got, is it Champagne?
What's his name?
Yes, Champagne.
For him to be a knockdown shooter the way he is, like they have so many different,
Elements to a championship team right now that it's hard to look at the rest of the teams in the league on the first day and say, all right, I know I could pick them apart and say they're going to have trouble. They're going to have trouble. They're going to have trouble. They're going to have trouble. But them, they looked like they already got it right now. They had a great training camp. You can tell. They was in there. They was listening to the coach. They was out there scrambling. Like, they all still in college. And I like that feeling for them.
For me, I think Houston is still the best team in Dallas, I mean in Texas, but last night just showed that that going big shit with Dallas is trash.
You need a guard, you need somebody that could put it on the floor when they need the Kyrie Irvin.
You're playing Clay, PJ Washington, I believe, AD, and Flagg, all that going just all big with no point guard.
letting anybody bring it up the floor.
I don't see them, I see them in the playing if they continue this.
So you said Houston, Houston, your opinion, the best, Spurs.
The best team in Texas.
Spurs and X, and then Mavs after that, based off this current junction.
Let's just talk quickly.
Darren Fox, sign that four-year max extension this off-season,
did not play in this game while dealing with the Strainwright hamstring.
We talked about this little last season with this young court developing,
with a player of his magnitude, obviously, coming in to bring.
some veterans to Pilly, how should the Spurs approach developing their young players
with Deerrin Fox running the show at Point Guard?
That's what I was looking at.
I'm looking at, man, you got Harper you just drafted and the fact that who are you going
to bench, Vessel or Champany, like who comes off the bench when Fox comes in?
Like, I mean, you know what, at the end of it, it really doesn't matter what the lineup is
because you have Wimby back there.
Right, and I really believe that they will play the Spurs.
The Spurs would play like Orlando did with Dwight.
Just funnel everybody to Dwight.
We can go four guards.
It really don't matter.
I'm back there.
Just don't reach.
Don't try to block no shots.
I'll clean up everything.
And it was me, it was me, Jermere and JJ on the court at the same time.
With Jay Reddy, right?
We had lineups like that because he's back there.
That's all.
Don't reach.
Let them shoot up.
So with Winby, you can go three-point guards.
You can really do whatever you want, but they have so much talent that's crazy.
I mean, that's what I said you got Harper, I mean, you got Harper, you got Johnson.
Like when Fox come back, one of these guys got to go on a bench, you know, Harrison Barnes probably would still be your starter.
So do you take your shooting guard?
And I guess.
But we saw that last night several times in that game.
We only had three blocks.
But several times in that game, guys driving.
What?
Shots they would normally take, saw Wimby creep up.
Yeah.
Black drive, he had a wide open lane.
But hey, hey, but Gil, I feel like the Spurs is in the same position like O KC, they're
not to figure it out.
Because they got a lot, they got a lot of young talent too.
When you say young, the young, like, OKC Young wasn't how they was portraying it.
Your best player wasn't young.
Yeah.
Right?
Your five men wasn't young.
But were they the youngest team?
Yeah, because now you got the bench, right?
You know, guys you're not going to play, right?
So for the most part, they had enough older vets to balance it out, right?
You know, the Spurs, their best players are young.
That's the difference.
But the way they're playing, the way they look, I mean, you know, listen, I'll be surprised
if they're not four, five, six.
If they are six, seven, eight, then it's just because of the youth.
They ain't got to do that.
That's what I said.
I give them another year.
That talent is going to turn over.
For sure.
They're going to be dominant.
If it ain't this year, next year they're dominating.
And I'm rolling.
Came in another year.
As long as he, when he gets his jumper and he really feels confident in that jumper, you got to hold another dynamic player.
So do you think that those estimations are a little?
Evaluating talent-wise, in comparison, if you're going to compare them to OKC, they got a little.
They got 11 legitimate players on their team.
And if you're going to say 9-11, say 10, they can go 10 deep right now.
Spurs can go 10 deep.
OKC cannot go 10 deep right now and give you a match-up for match-up with the Spurs right now.
That's not happening.
And that's just going off the first game, evaluating talent, who they got to play, who they got to play.
They going to kill them.
They going to kill them.
And I'm talking even the match-up between Castle.
and SGA if we got
a guard him. Okay, well, J.W. there, too.
Yeah. If we got to guard
that, line it up.
But then we'll just put Deer and Fox. You're going to have
to line that up. Okay, cool.
Cornette, if we want to go big, let's go
big. We go Cornyette Wembe.
If we need to go small, we got Sohan, Wimby.
We want to go
two white boys with Wimby at the three.
We go to Corneette.
We don't go to. We ain't worried about them
offensive. You can be a dog all you want to.
It could be a dog.
You can be a dog all you want to, but we got killers.
We got killers.
You got dogs.
We got killers.
Those dogs got champions.
They got a ring.
There's an argument here.
They better than it?
Okay, see what you say?
100 percent.
Oh, okay.
So, Shai, you're saying that the current San Antonio Spurs are better.
Number one.
It should come out number one in the West.
I think we're all four spurs, so I'm trying to figure out what the argument is.
I ain't arguing nobody.
Who's arguing?
I'm making a statement.
I'm making a statement.
Oh, so you got them one.
We got them four or five.
I don't know what y'all got.
I wasn't listening.
I said, I said, I said, I said, I was I got them the best.
After evaluating the first game, they don't know other teams match up.
That means, sense.
And this is, I wasn't listening.
He didn't realize we.
Full strength roster versus full strength roster.
There's a lot of games left to be played.
Remains between how many games when we will actually play this season.
But let's shift over.
60, 70.
We just need 65.
And we're rolling.
But now let's shift over to the maps and what may need to consider to be the next great white American
at just 18 years old, Cooper Flag is the second youngest player to start in his NBA debut
by two days behind LeBron, was tasked with filling the void at point guard as the Mazz away
Kyrie's return from an ACL injury.
Let's take a look how Mr. Flagg did in his first official NBA action.
The flag got off to a rough start going scoreless in the first half with just two shot
attempts.
He also had zero-siss in the first half while being the point forward for Dallas.
Finish the game with zero-siss as well.
Came out more aggressive in the second half getting his first.
career bucket early in the third quarter, finished with 10 points and 10 boards on four
of 13 shooting.
As I mentioned, the Mavs got 30-piece by the Spurs, embarrassed in their season opener, home
opener.
But he did throw some flashes in the third quarter, we'll be real.
Hit all four of his field goals in the third quarter, had two free throws in the fourth.
You've got to switch them now.
Look at that.
After the game, he offered these thoughts on his first career NBA.
quality of this year played not great i mean obviously didn't play incredibly well but um you got
moved past it um you know trying to focus at start getting rid of friday did you feel like you
were starting to assert yourself a little bit in the third quarter uh i mean not just trying to be
a little bit um trying to serve myself a little bit but you know just trying to take take what was
there but um i got to be a little more aggressive off the rep yeah i mean it's basketball um you know it's not
going to go your ways and it's going to be perfect but just kind of just be better on the
flag so despite the subbar game by his standards flag was just the fifth map with a double
double in his NBA debut mr. cemetery Larry last week we showed a clip of Cooper flag being
unfamiliar with your game you are familiar with his the noodles have been simmering
flag was a game low minus 29 and his 32 minutes of action excuse me minus 29 and his 32 minutes of action
the worst on the map all he had to do
dude would say I know who this is I'm about to say that's all he had to do say I know
who this is and it will be good but instead here we are in the gas chamber
smelling like pine oil motherfuckers will be playing basketball in Pelican Bay
when I get finished with you shoe program with you I do what it would
I knew.
I knew what it was.
With the oodles of noodles.
I think you could do this to me.
And didn't think I was gonna be watching.
But listen, I'm gonna be very, very honest.
The Dallas Mavericks ain't doing no justice for Cooper Flag
because y'all trying to cover the Luca daunted shit.
Putting him at the point guard position, Jason Kidd is a point guard,
the audacity is, it's absurd.
You got Dilo over there, and he's sitting there like,
And he's sitting there, like, why are we playing Cooper at the point?
Why Cooper don't got no assist?
And he's playing the point.
But I thought you were just going to throw it ahead and pitch of the head
and give it to motherfuckers and let them go and do all that shit.
But that didn't happen.
Because no one pressed.
Like you said.
Or you said pressed, right?
They were going to press him, so he had to pass it.
They didn't press him.
He should have had a triple double or something, right?
You pull him at the point.
No, no.
Our argument was about pick it, putting him at the point.
I wasn't just talking about that.
I was just making my own little statement.
Oh, okay.
So when you talk about Cooper,
being set up for success, he's supposed to be the next Dirknam whiskey for the Dallas Mavericks,
not the next Jason Kitt.
I don't know what the fuck they're thinking over there with all those guys behind the bench.
But Cooper Flagg is like Keith Van Horn.
He's one of those guys who can get you 20 and 10, put him in position, midpost, let him exploit the mismatches.
But he's so busy now passing the ball of guys who.
Can't really do nothing with the ball.
And then you got Clay out there running around thinking he's going to get the ball
because he's got a point guard that's supposed to be getting him the ball when he opened.
Well, guess what?
Come on, man.
He's setting that man up for destruction.
He's going to be the sacrificial lamb or whatever happens up until Kai Rhee gets back.
And I feel bad for Karee because the pressure's going to be on him.
So what I took from Kluper Fag, I mean, I'm going to give him a C-minus.
I mean, it was his first game.
You know, of course, you're going against Wimby.
I mean, he still had a double-double.
But, I mean, I think he's going to be okay.
You know what I'm saying?
I mean, I don't mind him playing the one.
Obviously, the game is changing.
You know, a lot of teams are going big.
So it's something that Jason Kidd has probably just trying something different.
With Kyrie going down, I'm sure that kind of messed up a lot of things
that was going to happen in the season for them.
So putting them at the one.
I mean, he's 18 years old, same thing that happened in college.
It took him a couple of games to get adjusted, so I think he'll be fun.
And Flag didn't have to have all the pressure on him to initiate the offense.
Other guys were getting the rebound and going and bringing the ball off the court.
Rashad, like you're saying, Jason Kidd putting him in his position.
We saw it in the summer when he ran him at the one, saw the commentary coming into the season.
Similar to the Rockies, but I would say Aeman Thompson, a much better option at point guard than Cooper Flagg in the situation.
Put an 18-year-old with that amount of pressure.
Did he get ripped or something?
I'm trying to be confused when y'all.
I say don't put him at the point.
Did he get ripped?
Did he couldn't get the ball down the court?
Like, if you watch the game.
Did he not get the ball down the court?
Like, I think out of that group, he is the best dribbler.
We can tell.
He looks like he's the fastest player on the team.
We can tell.
So given my fastest guy who has better dribbling than everybody on there to push this break,
you're talking about a, how tall is he?
6'10.
6'10 throwing into AD.
80 throwing it back to him like that's what they see that's what the vision is right you're looking
at they're trying to mimic the magic johnson height lebron james ben simmons right lucca dants they are
looking for bigs that can bring the ball up and start the offense they don't need someone
to come in and are we're going to set the pig okay you're going to turn five that that game is
dead they don't they that's not this game anymore this game is all five come down hill
and attack right you're looking at a guy who's they're putting him at the point he was body
bagging hitting four and five men pushing him out of the way he's towering guards he is an
advantage you look at the shots he's taking great shots he
He's 18, 18, 18, there's only one, he's the second young,
there's only one 18 year old that performed great.
LeBron James, what did he have over everybody?
Height, strength, jumping ability, right?
That's what that looks like.
So to have a double double, obviously what stopped him from shooting is he missed a,
what, two shots early?
Oh, for two on the first.
And then from there, he says, you know what, I'm not going to shoot anymore because I don't want to go down.
So you got all the nerves kicking in, right?
But let's not pretend his speed.
We can show the video again.
Let's show the video again.
This is what's coming downhill.
If we could, Cooper flag highlights.
And we saw this first way of the game.
That's what a fast break looked like.
He could have just took off anyway.
But you're talking about that lineup is big.
Like he's...
Mm-hmm, mm-hmm, mm-mm.
Look, good shot.
You got a guard on him.
He's shooting right over that.
Look at this. You're too small.
You're four, like you're too small.
You lost by 30.
Okay, cool.
What the fuck does that have to do with anything?
That's easy work.
You lost by 30.
This is easy work.
This is your point guard.
And that's going to be him every night.
That's your point guard.
This is what your point guard is doing.
You won't.
It's like him on him.
But I'm saying that this is no different from when Luca was there.
He's this big disadvantage.
to the wasn't it
he's fucking 18 years old man
he had a double double
he looked nervous
he looked nervous
because he is 18 so Jason
kids should know that when you got
Delo you brought Delo in to be
the point guard why did you bring him
in? I know I listen
I get the you was the Cooper
flag no I'm asking the question
why do you bring why would you bring in
Angelo Russell
to be a backup point guard to Kyrie Irvin
Right.
Kyrie over and goes down.
Right.
Does the backup not move to the fucking point guard position?
If we want that to be.
If you don't want that to be.
What's the result?
So then we're going to go there.
30 point blowout.
Hey, how about this?
Is that the only result that I, just tell me if what other results happened?
I mean, yeah, they won.
I mean, yeah, they lost.
By 30.
But you're blaming the point guard position.
Yes, you have to blame the whole setup of the whole game.
You watch the game and you say, look how they pressure them.
He had two times.
Turnovers based on him not being able to handle the ball or he's just making it a half
You watch the game.
He had two turnovers where he couldn't handle the ball lost the ball.
They got it.
They scored.
So you look at that.
He missed Clay Thompson on two different occasions because he's not a point guard.
He don't even see he's not seeing the floor.
What else you're doing with Cooper Flagg is you're taking him away from the basket
because he's out now on the perimeter when he could be down on the block for offensive
rebounder opportunities for low post opportunities all the things closer to the basket now
is away even for just defensive rebounding like the things that you're taking away from him
experimenting on the first game when you like what are we doing the same thing everybody else did
why are we doing what everybody else did we need our own identity we got jacid is a is a hall
of fame point guard who is established in this league brilliant right no no obviously not smart no no
No, you're not. No, I'm not giving him none of that credit.
What did Delo do last night?
He didn't do nothing.
He didn't do nothing.
Exactly. He wouldn't ditched it anyway.
He wasn't going to do that.
No, no, you know what the funny part is?
It's because you don't know visionary when you see it.
They said the same thing about magic.
Magic came into the NBA.
Did he come in as a point guard?
No, they had a point guard.
He came in as the shooting guard.
Who was on his team?
Point guard.
Who else?
A point guard.
Was the cap on his team?
Yes.
What was the cap?
He came in as a.
shooting guard. Understand what I'm saying.
Norm Nixon was the point. He came in as a shooting
guard. They realized when he
got the ball,
the ball in his hands, it moved
faster because he was
faster than Norm. His vision,
his speed, it looked
different. So even
though Norm led the team in his sister first
year, Magic was right under him as
a shooting guard. Then eventually they said,
you know what? We're just going to go with Magic
as a shooting guard, just bring another guard
so Norm got to go. LeBron James,
came in an NBA as a shooting guard, shooting guard.
They realized the same thing.
On the break, Jesus Christ, the ball is better in his hand as a playmaker.
He didn't have no assist last night.
Oh, cool.
I was saying, where is that?
But you're talking about a guy who's scared.
He's not going to come downhill and try nothing.
This man did a bounce pass to a seven-footer.
When, if he wasn't, if this is game 10, we already know he's going to come down.
Either he's going to take off or he's going to throw the lob.
But he bounced past.
This is his first game.
First game, you're trying to kill him off the first game.
It's different between, for me, it's different between being a point guard and bringing the ball up.
Like I said, I would want him to bring the ball up, but he don't need to bring it up every time.
It's sad break.
It's good to have somebody that's another ball handling it out there.
Don't leave him out there with Clay.
He's not a dribbler, PJ Washington, A.D. and Ivey, you need another, somebody, another creator out there.
Because he's out there thinking I got to get people going, and you need him to be aggressive.
You need to be aggressive.
Go full court, try to duck and shoot.
No, listen.
I don't know, yeah, I don't know why he's passing.
I think he got scared.
Yeah, but I don't need him thinking about trying to be a point going.
I need, you need somebody like, even LeBron has what, boogie, boogie, booby, booby.
No, not his first year.
What the fuck he had?
That first year when he was a shooting guard, who the, who was it, Jeff McGinnon?
No, Jeff McGinnis got traded there mid-season.
But even, I had.
Eric Snow?
Huh?
Eric Snow?
Let me find it for you.
No, y'all is not to tell me that Cooper Flagg reminds you all of Magic Johnson.
But, but this for me, you was for Cooper Flagg the point guard last week until
until he switched, no, he switched out.
You was, that's why I was like, you was for eight, man.
at the point guard.
I was for Cooper flag at the point guard.
I'm just saying.
Are you smoking?
Rupert Dawkins.
And too I say that you do.
Dober dog.
I went and got the clipboard.
Jeff McGinnis.
You said, I get what you're trying to say.
Jeff McGinnis.
You was for him at first.
How was I for him at first, nigger?
All right.
I'm just saying.
Why in the clip?
Yo, but what's the difference between him?
I say I'm wrong.
You say it now.
You say it now.
Yeah, but what's the difference between him bringing up the ball?
So we'll bring up the ball.
See it now.
See it now.
see it now. Nick? Yeah, what's the difference between Cooper Flag bringing up the ball
and DeLo bringing up the ball? Just like when, just like, yeah. Experian. If they're starting
to offer it. Experience. So, so it's like that down. Boom, boom, boom. I got a better question.
Here's a better question. Like Zaya. Deelow came in there to be the backup, right? So what
happened in practice? He would have had to guard Cooper Flag, right? It would have had to guard
each other. You know, Deel can't play defense. So I'm trying. So I'm trying to figure out. So I'm trying to
figure out.
So is that what happened during this time?
What happened?
We know it happened, right?
He had the guard that motherfucker coming down.
They got some other people that get,
they get a handle the ball.
Watch out.
Watch out little, Delo.
That's what that sound like.
Watch out little Delo.
This is for Nick.
If they took a practice metric of DeLo guarding Cooper and said,
we're going to go with this.
And then we're going to get our ass blown out by 30.
And then we're going to keep.
this just because we've seen it
in practice?
I don't even think it was just
against D. Lowe.
It wasn't
what the fuck
what the fuck
what I'm talking about.
AD got a lot
of that too
it was an alien
that came in
the dollar
didn't D.L.
Didn't D.L.A.D.
play together
in Los Angeles.
They had a good
little rapport.
I think that's a little
bit of why they brought
him to Dallas.
You got some experience
together.
Why couldn't he get
the part in position?
Because they didn't
they're selling
this 18 year old.
He didn't put a
as you should
he 18
you should
why are you putting him
at the point guard
when he's not a point guard
and y'all's man
he running up like he LeBron
he's not
at what point did he get the ball
and look like he was going to run
the break like magic
or run the break like LeBron
never shit that first play
when he missed that dunk
when he missed that dude
he wasn't he didn't have a ball
he threw the ball
he threw the ball to AD through the dunk
shit looked like the fuck out of here
man we're not doing that
on the highlight
and people like we're going to live
the whole rest of this game
like this off a highlight, 30-point blowout.
Get y'all ass up out of here.
All the whole crowd gone.
What are we talking? We talk. We talk to hoop or what we talk to TV?
We're talking about it. We're talking about it.
I watch the game.
I can tell you what the problem is.
Kenny and what the problem is.
The problem isn't. So that's where you got to take from?
The problem is.
They got they take from me.
The problem, okay.
The problem. Now do you're taking it right now.
The problem isn't.
The problem isn't Cooper flag at the point.
The problem is Anthony Davis wants to play a certain position.
So now you have to play a certain line.
Right?
Because now you can't have Delo ends.
Who are you going to take out?
Your number one, your five-man and Cooper Flagg is starting.
Now let's make everybody else.
You're going to start?
Who?
Clay, you're going to start PJ Washington.
At this point, why do you...
So because Anthony Davis wants to play what position?
He wants to play the four.
So that means if Cooper Flag has to start, he has to start at the five.
So Anthony Davis is the reason they have to experiment.
What if he starts at the three?
Who?
Cooper.
P.J. Washington.
If Cooper starts at the three.
Then where does PJ Washington go?
Off the fucking bench.
Oh, okay.
What do you mean?
Obviously, they didn't do that.
Obviously, they fucked up.
They lost by 30.
Derek Labby only played 10 minutes in the game this hard.
You know what I mean?
They probably was going to lose by 30.
But see, that's the thing.
But see, that's the thing.
You want to be the four, man, when you're only doing it for a few minutes,
and then they're going to readjust the lineup.
That's the problem with this 80 thing.
Right?
Because Kyrie's coming back.
You're going to have to adjust this lineup.
And 80, you're going to have to play the 5,
with Cooper 4.
flag backing you up and you're going to put him at that point forward style how does it be more like
the embied in early and there was an embied and ben Simmons you got to you got too defensive players
back there they got to make a trade because I can tell you right now that how does champagne look
with cooper club garden them Dallas needs to make a trade look at that bench right now it's only
looking like this because kairie's out if karee's not out if karee's not out we're not even talking
Yeah, we are.
Yes, we are.
Until March.
Now, you got a few.
You got a few.
You got a few.
The Fish and Spurs and Mavs discussion for this particular show, but we did ask the chat, how would you grade Cooper Flax's NBA debut?
B, C, minus.
He was a negative 29.
4% of the chat gave him an A.
17% of the chat gave him a B.
I give him a B.
63% of the chain gave him a C.
And we only have four options in these polls.
16% of the chat gave him my F.
I said C minus, yeah.
I gave him a B.
I gave him because age.
Negative is $19.
Double, double, too.
Like, at the end of the day, it's like, okay,
you're still able to get 10 to 10?
Where's the curve at, man?
Like, come on, don't do that now, man.
This is the, no, I'm just,
and this is the second youngest.
No, no, no, stop doing that second year.
Rookie is a rookie.
Nick, we're a rookie,
rookie's a rookie coming in.
Don't do that age, bullshit.
He's only 16.
He's only 16.
He's only 16.
Hey, bro, he's 13, bro.
Give him some grace.
He's a rookie.
How many people coming out of him, bro?
Not a lot.
You're a rookie.
You're a rookie.
How many people coming to league at 18?
Super reclassed, obviously.
Reclassed.
How many people come to the league of 18?
We're talking about high school 18.
And he had a double and double.
My bad, I didn't mean to put too much.
He had a double double.
Then you're making me.
I'm not, I'm not sure.
No.
I get it.
Can we remove?
The only spot that he is new, man.
You put some more gillin and more gillin.
There's a more gillin.
He's a hit in the NBA and he's thrown out there, like, and they're like, oh.
They're putting him some more deal.
I mean, to be horrible, he said a double-double.
All that we can do is, man.
The only person is being greater to is LeB.
You better score this one.
LeBron is an A.
This is a B performance at this.
It's only two.
If you keep somebody in the game while you're down 30, he's getting a lot of garbage points.
I can't add that to a B.
I'm sorry.
Because what did he got into the third quarter and the fourth quarter
after the game was way out of real.
But they were even in the game.
That's what I'm saying.
You all getting that.
We all get that.
We all get that.
You didn't.
You didn't get it.
You was 18 as a junior in high school.
What was you talking about?
You don't know nothing about me.
You don't know nothing about that.
Let's keep that.
You don't know nothing.
Nothing about that.
Let's keep that.
18.
He was 11th grade.
At 11th grade.
11th grade. You had to fight to get more years.
You got to where you wanted to.
You got to where you wanted to.
Back to Cooper Fats.
So now can you give them a little love?
Hell no, because my first game, I was scared too, well.
And you was 26.
You was 20 scared.
That's why you're 26-year-old.
Okay, yeah.
I know he wanted to protect you.
All right.
You were 21.
But a rookie, but a rookie.
But you were scared.
Mellow.
Melo.
He has his old team.
This is his team where he can do anything he won't.
But you were scared.
So why are you not giving that to him any other?
If I was number one picking, I could tell your ass get over there?
No, I'm not scared.
But you know he's not going to do it.
He's not telling AD.
He's not going to tell him.
He's not yet.
He actually did.
He actually did.
He actually did.
I wish I was watching the game.
He was watching the game.
We watched some people just talking.
We said, AD, he said, A.D.
Watch the fuck.
out. I got this.
First of all, that's not what we're talking about.
He said, watch the fuck out, A.D.
Watch out. I got this.
Ain't nobody coming to see.
Okay. So he did do it.
Watch out, boy.
He ain't done. Yeah, that's the shit.
This is his.
Now, he ain't.
Yeah, I'm going to see.
First of all, he's his.
He ain't there.
You know what?
He better get they are.
He's going to be oldest.
These two are.
They did some fucking liars.
You remember when we were saying the same
shit about Wimby,
his first year,
when he wasn't past.
to him and we were saying what is this first year he ain't gonna really what what were they saying is this first year you know he really want to step on the show so he because he's a rookie he just he's just allowing this and we were saying not he's the number one pick he the future he needs it to hey man give me that goddamn ball no he ain't gonna do that he ain't gonna flat now because he don't like them because he don't like him now he's supposed to tell him when you were
For Wimby, it was okay.
It's okay.
We're talking games.
He was for Wimby, not saying anything because he was a rookie.
You know, he's just a little tent.
Wait until we get to him.
They're just making up shit, man.
And Wimby Jersey and everything.
Y'all, you remember?
It was big.
Everybody was like, yo, they're not even giving him the ball.
It was a big thing.
There was, what's the name?
We talked about, yo, he should demand do-to-do-do.
Oh, man, you know how it is when you first get there, man.
Who said that?
The man who was wearing the number one job.
Oh, he's making another shit.
You know the people watching you.
They're watching.
They're watching this shit.
They can tell me you're lying, man.
Stop.
Thank you.
This shit is already cooking, so you're already in this motherfucker.
You niggins is already in here.
I've just grinded you up and put you in season.
I don't even need y'all physically.
I don't even need no sports.
Don't even need y'all physically.
to put you in the bag or nothing, I've grounded it.
I use the voodoo and I'm
let's keep this thing moving because we can
spend all day talking about this particular topic.
We've got a lot of other stuff to cover in the show.
By and large the amacy.

Y'all know.
I'm getting good at this fucking prompter.
You got to change the getting hard part.
Nah.
You got to say getting there faster?
I've never been there.
That's my favorite part of the real.
It's wrong.
Get strong.
Get wrong, huh?
Getting hard.
They want you to know.
Bro, go make it grow.
You already know.
Hey, Roe going to make it grow.
Roe going to make it grow.
Say that.
Uh-huh.
Bro, don't take that, please.
If you do, can you give me a little royalty?
All right?
Sometimes out here, if Christmas is around the corner, I need to get Gucci Loaf.
Hey, buddy.
Let's keep this thing moving.
Let's shift over to the Eastern Conference with the Sixers.
We're in Boston to take on the Tatumless Celtics.
So Paul George, Jeremy McCain, both out for the season opener.
While Joelle and B saw his first game action in eight months, we will talk about that shortly.
But Tyrese Maxie was ready to get back to his bucket getting waved.
And rookie, V.J. Edgecombe made some history in his NBA debut.
So let's take a look at the highlights, if we can, please.
So Edgecombe got to work early.
Third overall pick, put up 14 points in the first quarter, which is a rookie record for an NBA debut.
Edgecombe finished the game with 34 points and 7 rebounds, scoring the most points in the NBA debut since Will Chamberlain.
In 1959, third most all time.
Tyrese did his thing as well with a game high 40 points.
Maxi 13 to 24 from the field, seven of nine from long range.
Sixers trailed by double digits in the fourth quarter before mounting a comeback outscoring
Boston 42 to 30 in the final frame to get the win.
Oh, wow.
Yes.
Oh, you see what time it is.
This is enjoyable.
One of the surprises of the night.
Obviously, MB back on the court.
How old is DJ?
20.
DJ.
Bahamian out of Baylor.
Nah.
He was out there doing his thing.
That's his first game.
I like that back for you.
That boy, that's new hitman.
I like him because he's a defensive player too.
He talked big, he talked, he trash.
There's some big shit going on.
So let's talk, Stixer's rookie first.
More than it.
Rookie at the year.
That's a little hit man.
No, he did.
Yeah, he talked like in.
Yeah.
Hey, hey, you trash.
Why are you talking?
Like, he's one of those.
Okay, okay.
Yeah, yeah, he's one of those.
One of those.
Yeah, he wanted to.
We did see the clip.
Him and Caleb love going at each other.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, it was very spirited on the court.
But Edgecombe, first player to drop a 30 piece in their NBA debut in the 21st century.
I want you try to really think about that.
But how impressive was Vijay Edgecombe in his NBA debut?
Mr. B. will start with you.
Man, he was very impressive.
I know it was a lot going on during the draft.
People feel like he should have went before Ace.
But, you know, I think the Sixth's got a steal, man.
Sixth got a steal.
He's raw athletic, and I think him playing the lone side with Maxi for the future.
I think it's going to be great.
I feel like they can move on from the process now with this backcourt
and just start playing it for the future.
But I'm really excited for this backcourt.
I ain't seen a back court like this.
Probably since Steve Nash and Catina Mowgli.
Kind of, maybe.
Yeah, you say...
Oh, St. Francis.
Yeah.
Ed's on third overall pick Dylan Harper's second.
He's saying he could have went over Dylan Harper with that number two?
No.
You add him with the Spurs?
No, Ace.
Ace went lower.
No, you're saying if he would have been with Spurs.
I'm just saying there was discussion about...
If he would have been with Spurs.
What?
That what you're saying?
No.
So him and Castle?
Together?
Coming down hill.
Well, I like...
Knocking on folks.
But, but, but...
I like him here.
I do.
Very good.
I like him here.
I think it's better here for him.
I like it.
Better here, too.
Right?
You got an offense that revolves around guard playing now, right?
Where even if your big man is there, because he is so dominant, they have to focus on him and y'all get to go downhill.
I mean, you know, and even in Baylor, he looked like he was that dude.
Watch him in high school, right?
He played with, um, uh, mellow.
He played with the Bahamah team.
No, he played with Anthony.
They went to that, what's that school in New York?
Oh, with Cayenne.
He went with Cayenne ended.
They played together in high school.
Like, Kayyan was younger.
He was the older guy on that team,
because they came out here, played against like Braun
as a sophomore or something like that.
So, um, watching, just watching him over the...
Long Island Lutheran?
Yeah, Long Island Lutheran.
Long Island Lutheran.
He was a game.
Yeah, yeah, when he came, yeah.
He was the sordid.
Yeah, that was sure.
I remember that.
Yeah, so just watching him.
Just, he's electrifying.
Like, I mean, when you're talking about coming, is it Catino?
Cotino.
Yeah, backcourt, like backcourt?
Like, too far backcourt?
Like, like, scoring backcourt?
Yeah.
Like, even me and, like, me and Larry was young, but we was 2519.
They're different, right?
You're talking about speed and athleticism, and he plays defense.
Right?
So, you know, you got some real impressive backcourt here.
I like it.
I like that his attitude, bro.
He has that, like, I don't care.
I'm going to go get it.
He goes after.
It doesn't matter who's in front of him, first game.
30 ball.
34.
34.
30 folk.
Rookie of the year.
Fifted over this side shot, watching Vijay M. Edgecom come out,
third overall pick.
Obviously, no PG.
in the game. No Jerry McCain. He had to step up. Paul George.
I know what's wronged. Another knee, another ankle.
Me?
Me.
You know what some knee?
Negro's getting old, but what do you think about VJ. S. Combs' NBA debut?
Third most points in the NBA debut in NBA history. Most since 1959, Wilk Chamberlain.
Took advantage of an opportunity. Man's down. Two men are down. Potentially be in front of him
because he's a rookie, which meaning his minutes would have probably diminished quite a bit
if they had a full healthy roster.
But if was a fifth, we'd be drunk as fuck.
So he took advantage of that whole opportunity more than other rookies did.
So you got to look at that trajectory and say, you know, he does have a bright future.
But then you say, well, what happens when Paul George comes back?
Do they move Paul to the three?
Do they like what happens there?
Do you keep him with the firepower that he's displayed so far?
You know, as the team progresses, I don't know about moving away from the process more than seeing how he actually develops with this young core.
But I think it's a great stepping stone for him, especially for his confidence.
So you see what he can do on the floor, you see what teams like bossing can give him when he's out there.
But, you know, he's got a, he's got a lot of different people in his position that he's going to be going at and going to be coming to him.
So it's not like he's playing the four, you know, you're not moving him at the four, playing him out of position.
So he's playing in his true position where he can dominate.
And he plays both sides of the ball, which I love.
So I think I want to see a couple more games and see how he develops as a starter.
when he's got a guy who's getting paid $200 million in front of him, how that's going
to affect him?
He gets paid $200 million in front of him?
Paul George.
He's not the...
Paul George is three, man.
Yeah, he's a two.
That's Ubre.
Yeah, Ubrecht started at the three in that game.
You have a potential?
Is Paul George a shooting guard or small four?
Small four.
I think he's going to have to move around.
You always been.
We're going to fact check that.
I'm saying in this offense based on how it's looking.
I mean, he's all of six to ten.
But Mr. B., I want to get back to you really quick.
Obviously, you know about getting into it early in your NBA career.
Small Ford, Power, Forward.
Yeah, he always been a small for it.
32 in your sixth career NBA game.
You followed that 32 piece up with 55.
Cook Steph Curry in the Warriors.
I remember he was going to play that Power Fort.
Yeah.
But what was that like?
for you to be able to do that. I'm just looking at Edgecom dropping this 34 piece.
What was your motion like after that game just in terms of how you were on your team and in the
league? Just like Rashash said, just opportunity. You know, I took advantage of my opportunity
to come in, you know, spending a year up in Europe and coming in, not knowing where I was
going to go in the draft and went 10th and, you know, ended up with the bucks. But just taking
advantage of my opportunity, playing for a point guard like Scott Skiles, and he was able to let me
run the show. So that's why we were able to have a very successful
season that year, make the playoffs, got John Salman's in the trade, and, you know, everything
else was everything else.
What was that feeling like after dropping that first 30 piece and then dropping that 55 right
after it?
Oh, it was great because I dropped 32 on Chauncey Bullebs in Denver back then, so that was great.
And then he's having multiple things dropped on him now recently.
That's the 32 piece.
Yeah, but just a confident boost and then just a confidence boost of just knowing that I can
run the show in the NBA.
I'm sure he'd rather have that 32 piece.
He's a rookie that don't have as much pressure as, like, compared to like a Cooper flag, too.
And that's easier to, for sure, to play with.
You just get it to play free, shoot the shots you're going to shoot.
I was wondering, who was Barlow?
The Barlow dude, where he come from?
How many Barlow?
Where does these people coming from?
Andre German played like four minutes.
Yeah.
They could play 34 minutes.
He took 26 shots.
Man.
That's not the impressive part.
The impressive part is who's on the other end of that defense?
White or...
Yeah.
Mm.
White or brown, one of the two, getting that work.
So if he has the confidence out the gate to look, to live.
look at them two, like, yeah.
Yeah, you athletic, but you're not this athletic, right?
And I'm, I'm coming down here.
I'm coming at you.
Against one of those two.
We don't want to, we don't want to point one of them two.
You ain't seen him yet.
One of them two.
But one of you guys.
You didn't see him yet.
You know, if that's what you're,
if that's what you're doing already, you know,
and picking 26 shots opening night.
As a rookie in the national basketball,
One, you're not being re-round back.
There's no going backwards for him.
Right now, him and Maxie, they're going forward.
For sure.
I mean, listen, Embed, if he comes back, come back healthy,
obviously they're going to readjust how they play the game.
But right now, Embed is just going to be out there trying to figure out how he's going to be part of, you know,
the game for now.
brings my next question.
So Edgecombe, 26 shots in that game.
Tyrese maxi, 24 shots.
40 piece.
Yeah.
They combine for what?
Seven of nine, 74 points combined.
Yeah.
Seven or nine from three.
Yeah.
We've talked previously about the direction of this Sixers franchise where it needs to go.
You have MB, former MVP, but you have Tyrese Maxie who's come on strong.
So question for you, has Tyrese maxi officially taking the keys at the Sixers number one option, I think, based on that first game?
Hell, yeah.
Yeah, he took the keys.
He looked like somebody's trying to shake him too.
I ain't going to lie.
I'm giving it to...
I'm going to lie.
I'm giving it to...
Hell fella.
I'll give him to say, yes, fellas.
What is these right here, man?
He looks like some nice little keys in your pocket.
Maxx out there, like...
Like Kovish Jack back in the thing.
I mean, and B can only go 20 minutes.
You got one knee.
Mm-mm.
I mean, you know, last night he played 20 minutes.
What do you have three?
Like...
One more time.
something like that. So, yeah, man, it's time to get the young fella the keys. I mean, you saw what he did last night. I mean, you know, he's available. He got other young fella with him now. So I would just just build between those two. So how do you agree with that? You're even really got no choice.
What other options you got? You got two guys who are hurt, who are all NBA guys, past MVP. You know, these guys.
We're going to get aging and who you got left.
I give it to somebody.
You don't definitely give it to Tyrese Maxie for sure.
He's always had that energy about him that he's ready to do it, but having another emerging
star to come in, I mean, it's no-brainer, for sure.
Yeah, for sure.
I just don't want people to start trying to break them up, get them a chance.
Don't let young fellow grow.
I don't want to be that who team is it like they do brown and tail them all the time just let them grow
So um that's obviously a very premature conversation one game sample size the edge come look great in the preseason
They had 26 in the six in the six of the last preseason game comes out here now and the real thing drops 34
And the thing is they both better score I mean not both but they're combined their better scores
So let's talk in Bid a little bit and Bid was on the floor as well first time since February period in just 19 years
games last season while dealing with various injuries, including a knee injury. Process looked like
processed cheese, finished the game with just four points on one of nine shooting, along with six
rebounds and 20 minutes of action. When you look at this, obviously, sixes are named the
process and B nicknamed the process. How concerns should the six should the sixes be with
Embed's performance in their season opener?
you wrote that question now to ask you give you ask you are you want only fans right now what
you're doing oh god i'm gonna get out your business oh yeah why would you do that
no no because he's seen like it was it's a short and it's seen the person that's he
why would you do that dirt you got the instagram up and later gentlemen deal man of the people
hey man but look free right now now on this lovely now what i'm saying is you should have asked that
question first. I don't want to tell you how
do your job, but I'm just saying. You do
all the time. Your rookie
scored 34.
Your other star
scored 40. They did.
Do you think
that they give a shit about
what it would be? Like, what the
beat. It's out of here.
They're talking about that question.
It's like cheating on your girl,
but she ain't say nothing, but you know
she looked in your phone. Right.
It's tiptoe.
time. Now, you and me don't want to cough in that locker room right now.
He's like, hey, Ruth, you know what's something going to go out?
He started limpy. They go home.
They're looking for something at this point to send his ass home.
I mean, they can see.
This is probably, this could probably go down as one of the most exciting backcourt.
Right?
This is a, this is a dynamic back court. Like, really, you got speech.
Really, you got speed shooting, really fast in shooting.
Then you got really fast jumping and shooting.
Like, you got all the elements to dominate, like this is, to dominate a back court.
For real.
Yeah.
Okay, I understood, but it's like, yeah, bro, and it looks fun.
Like, I mean, this is like when Fox comes back, him in Castle, right?
That's, this is, this group.
And it's in the East, too, so they'll be, they're going to definitely be able to do some bad.
Yeah, that's dope.
Here in lies a problem.
Garland and Donovan.
Here in lies a problem with Joelle and B.
Former MVP signed a three-year extension with the Sixers
that doesn't kick in until next season.
As a player option, 2028.
I'm just saying it's a lot of...
Why do you care?
A lot of bread.
I'm a student of the game and a fan of basketball.
What I'm saying is, did you read any of the articles from Philly?
Guil.
I was born in Trent, New Jersey, just a stone star away from Philadelphia.
I have love for the kids.
Did any of them say...
Yeah, we need to worry about it.
No, they praise it to what they've seen out there.
Some things, you just focus on the good.
We're not looking at it.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Right, we're looking like Lakers.
All I know is 41, 12, and 9.
I don't know the record.
43, Gil.
43, my bad.
You try to deny that man, it's two points.
You know, look, it is in B, obviously, you know,
when he gets to cooking is going to change.
But right now, they're going to, they're going to.
to be celebrating what their rookie did.
Seeing how he looked on that floor.
Huh?
When?
Is it a win or is it a ifs?
Yeah, that's what I'm trying to say.
Like...
Really?
Really?
It's in B.
That's what I'm saying.
It's NB, bro.
Do you know he's gonna have some 30, some folks?
That's his NB stories.
I mean, he's in...
I know, Philly, Tyler.
He's an American hero.
He's an American hero.
I like him.
Olympic heroes.
He has to go.
I take him away.
He didn't get his shit.
You took him over Aiden?
What?
He said he didn't get his...
He didn't get his...
He didn't get his...
He didn't do nothing in the... in USA?
It's all Steph Curry.
No, that was the... that last game.
We got by Yokic because of him.
Yeah, he did his part.
Reminder.
He contributed to his country.
But like...
So did you bring a bowl?
You got it?
No, you know, I'll just eat it straight.
You sure?
Like, talking...
about NB that's always negative.
Like, everything over the years
it's been negative about
MB, like...
Well, over the past few years, right, obviously.
That's what I'm saying.
It's only because of his injury, it's not being.
No one talks about it.
But, you never see the game, so you don't see the game,
so you just see negativity.
Like, I'm tired of talking about it.
It's Joe.
That's not me.
It's Joe.
I'm merely a host, a conduit.
A vessel if you were.
You need a new place to go?
I'm sorry, Joe.
I didn't mean a situation.
Damn, Joe.
I've seen and snitching all this stuff.
It's going around, man.
It is going around.
Do he need a new place to go?
Like, just a new freshman?
No, he need a new knee.
But where can he go?
That's not going to happen.
Like, where can he go with that much bread?
$193 million committed to him over the next three seasons after this one?
Package is there.
You can get ruy?
Who's taking that?
You give a brewery?
I know one team that's going to take it.
Right.
Who does that team go?
Huh?
Who got the kind of bread?
They know how to hide on clean sight.
He's going to join the unction?
He's going to join the clip.
Oh, the clip.
Oh, the clip.
The clip's the only one.
You say 190.
He don't know what to do it.
The clip's going to clip, man.
They got clip like that.
He don't even do too much over here.
The clip is going to clip.
Obviously.
Oh, they got clipped last.
They got clipped.
We're not going to talk about them.
We don't need to be.
We not?
No show.
What?
No, we don't need to talk about them.
By who?
The Utah.
The Utah.
We don't even talk about them.
Why not?
Tough time for Los Angeles.
Thankfully, the Dodgers have our back.
That ass looked bad.
It looked bad.
Like, it looked like they.
It looked like they age.
Yeah.
No, it was bad.
Like, started, go.
Ew.
Those little guards up in Utah was,
God.
Yeah, I saw it, I was like,
damn, dames, who, shit.
Damn.
They're bad.
Five points.
That's right.
Yeah.
He played all defense.
Well, let's shift them.
Yeah.
Is that what they were doing about that defense?
It was running up and down.
So it was both.
Let's shift them more positive.
Go up and get your check, man.
I get $2 million for the day.
I never felt sorry for older players until you've seen them all together.
Until you've seen them all together.
Yeah, they pay them all together.
Like, no one looked.
They just.
It got to be all together.
It got to be one old and the rest young.
Like, even Collins look old.
Like, damn.
They took all the ice from Utah.
Like, give all the mice back.
All the mice backs.
Just hanging with them.
But let's keep this thing moving.
Riddies and Pelicans tipped off their season Wednesday night
in the game featuring the top two picks in the 2019 NBA draft,
former AAU team mate Zion Williamson and John Morant.
Facing all both players entered the season opener with something to prove.
And they both did their thing.
So let's take it.
at the highlights if we can please. So Zion led the Pelicans with 27 points, nine rebounds,
five dimes and five steals, 33 minutes of action. He was 10 for 21 from the field, while
12 put together another dominant season opening performance, leading all scores with 35 points.
J'I was 13 to 20 from the field, seven of eight from the line. So Jah averaging 31 points
in his six career season opening games to the highest all time with a five game minimal.
So Pelicans were up 11 at the break, but the Grizzies went on a 27-6 run in the third quarter to take control of the game.
Outscoring the Pels 4122 in the third frame.
Pels bounced back to tie things up midway through the fourth quarter.
But, Jai got back to work.
Said not today.
Oh, I'm going to go live.
It's just good to see Jaya.
I'm out here hoping.
About 30 seconds remaining hit that night.
Nice floater.
Give the Grizzlies a four-point leave help put the game out of reach.
You got a sort of highlight out there like this.
Child was waving to his mom.
He's back.
He's back, man.
He's back.
John Moran back.
Swaggy took your shoes off out of respect.
Out of respect.
But a goat.
We got oodles and noodles and Swaggy's feet.
Swaggy.
Averging on each notch.
That's not a good.
A lot of ootling and noodles.
We're good to see Jack this job back.
Especially if his feet look anything like his hands.
Boy, this is not going to, it's not going to fare well.
Good to see John Moran back doing his thing?
Yeah, yes, this is, this gives the first opener that he's not coming in with drama around his name.
And, you know, I talked to his pops.
you know two days before the game and I'm like hey this is this is it right you know what to do
just do you know what I mean it's time to play you know go get his name back right and and
it's great it's great to see that he overcame it is great to see that this summer he took
that time you didn't see there was no negativity on his name he's coming in with a clean slate
and now he gets to just play basketball and let's see if he can
regain that momentum, the shoes is popping, not my style, you know, just Adidas-wise.
You know, they're gonna move out.
Huh?
Best shoes out.
Yeah, besides any Adidas.
Like, I mean, for, put like this, for that company?
Yeah.
For that company?
No, for that company.
Yeah.
Like those is, the kids is going, they can do whatever with them.
Yeah.
They can, they can ID those.
Those to be, five of them.
You already did?
What?
I'm sure.
You know what I mean?
Like they, listen, they need a rollout plan
because when he gets cooking, they roll them.
Both of them, man, him and Zion, man.
It's just, this is what we wanted to see their rookie year.
Like, every time these two got the plan,
the hype machine happened, so one is healthy,
one is out of trouble, let's get it.
I'm here for it.
Seems to me like both of them went to the snow.
Let it go
Let it go
It went to the snow
They didn't look like
They've been in the snow
It's like any other
Rehabilitated rapper
Start listening to country music
And you start changing your tune
And you start, you know what I'm saying
Start hooping a little bit better
You ain't listening to that bullshit no more
Not listening to the bullshit
Pow pow, beam, get that shit out of here
Go to the court
Put on that Garf Brooks boy
You're gonna be fine
That shit gonna go in
You're gonna be good
He looked both of them.
Like you said, they both look like they re-evaluated
what's important.
Let's get back to the game, man.
Look all this other shit.
There's a couple white girls, chill up.
We good.
They're going to cook, they're going to clean.
They're going to do something mean.
Yeah, they for sure look like they had a look in the mirror.
But, oh, man, I feel like this is going to be a big year for Jai.
And he got the machine behind him.
You always been a fan favorite.
But just to see, just to get good media around you again
would be good for Jai.
And I feel like that's the next step people need.
I feel like once you fall down,
you go through all that adversity, you come back stronger.
It's game show.
You forget how good he is when you just listen to what's going on,
the outside noise.
Jai was doing some amazing stuff out there.
35, 3 and 3.
And Zion, you know.
I think Zion, too, obviously dealing with all the end
and stuff he's down with over there.
I mean, both of them, I mean, and both teams too.
Both teams are gonna be fighting this year.
Like, both teams is, like, I think,
I mean, New Orleans had like five or seven guys
in double figures in scoring, so they had a nice little balance.
I mean, and then, you know,
job being, being, you know, I think he tweaked his ankle,
but, you know, being able to play,
and then Zion, I'm just happy that they both back.
So now the NBA can get their, you know,
their young superstars out here
and we can start seeing guys actually compete
and play against each other.
So Pelicans five guys double-fielder.
The pool party, yeah, five.
The pool party was out there.
But Grizzly, seven.
Yeah, seven, yeah, okay.
Seven and double-fingers.
It was a good balance of, that game was good, man.
Yeah, that game was good.
The pool party, there's obviously,
the situation, too, during the game.
You see the crowd?
That's a good game.
So since his, I'm fine in the West Commons back in December 2020,
the Grizzlies have failed to advance out of the first round,
missing the playoffs entirely in 2024,
getting swept by the thunder in 2025.
Grizzlies still do have a solid core,
traded Desmond Bain to the magic this offseason for KCP,
four unprotected first round picks and a pick swap.
It's a tough Western conference.
We know that.
But how much faith do you have in Jod
to get the Grizzlies back into contention in this West?
That's who they were missing.
Bain.
And I don't remember he, because he did, I mean, he was killing in Orlando.
I mean, he, just watch y'all.
We just care about jobs.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
We don't care about the team, man.
It's a turn.
Why do y'all always push this team shit?
It is a team game, you know.
This is not football, man.
There are some players that we treat like it's tennis, right?
There's just them out there, right?
Just we just, we just, we just cut out him.
him.
How's when?
Mike McLeod and all in the 80s.
Kobe Bryant after Shaq left.
Right?
LeBron every year.
Like sometimes we just care about the player, right?
Steph for the last couple years, right?
Okay.
It's them.
Right?
You know what I mean?
Like we know sometimes, like the team success would not be there, but we still want to cheer for him.
Right now, we care, John's back.
Zion's back.
That's it.
That's it.
I don't gotta care about if the Pelicans is going to win or is Memphis going to win.
It's not like we're going to watch it.
You're not going to watch the Grizzlies.
Yeah.
I'm going to watch that first round.
Huh?
With them two?
What?
No, no.
If it's them to, yeah.
That was them.
What?
If it's them.
If it's them two.
Hey, all this money I'm paying for league passing all these streamers.
I'm going to watch as much basketball as possible.
You're right.
Shit.
She's costing a grip.
I might be a snitch on them, too.
You might have to drop a dime on them.
It's crazy, man.
Bashal, you get this Grizzly squad and get back into contention.
Not for real.
I know that kind of hurt your feelings when Rachel did that to you.
No, it did.
No, no, it hurt because you like to play?
No, no.
No, I like the play, but this is what was written.
And we're friends.
This is what was written.
Damn, Ray.
I missed up the vibe.
It wrote, this is what she wrote.
I have absolutely no idea whether Gilbert Arenas is involved in investigation that led today's FBI arrest.
What did you have to do with any of you?
I read all the articles.
I did not see the name?
Like, what you were writing that for real?
Like I just, like the Nino Brown, that's funny, snitch arenas, I get that.
This is what you write in?
Good job.
Like, are you not reading?
Good job, Rachel.
I know you at work.
It worked.
It worked.
I'm trying to take it off.
I mean, I'm like, listen, listen, I don't want to see somebody downfall, so I'm not going
to go out there and say what he's in for, but you might want to read.
It ain't nothing to do with that.
Like, he is the coach of a team.
I'm trying to get you out of here already.
Right?
I'm just trying to make it sway.
I'm trying to get things.
I see you're trying to.
Is that didn't work?
Shit.
This is, this is, this is.
This is.
This is NBA games, that's what this is.
This is not poker stuff.
This is NBA games giving out NBA information.
All of those guys, if you must know.
My name is Bennett.
I'm just saying so.
I don't know what I mean?
When I troll, just let me troll.
Let's let me, I'm allowed you, goddamn it.
Shit.
You're allowed to be a snitch, right?
I know what I'm going to be for Halloween.
A damn snitch.
A damn snitch.
I'm a master swim at his finest.
Right here with the rat suit.
Remember, I said this on you, you remember?
You got pulled over right after that.
Yeah, you got it.
Yeah, sir.
That's what I know the police.
You got to come in with the day-day outfit.
You got to come in with the day-day outfit.
You know when Paul Pierce got in trouble in a few way?
Mm.
He just left here.
Ten minutes.
Shit.
Report it.
Boom.
Yep.
That's great.
That's insane.
No, no.
No, no, for real.
No, no, for real.
No, no, no, they're serious.
That's what I was here?
And I was like, oh, was he drinking here?
What the fuck?
And it was like, no, it was like, it happened too.
They was like, oh, okay.
Oh, god damn.
On the two, it's the same police.
The same police.
You can always dress up as me.
I was a snitch, too.
I snitch, so you can always dress up as me.
up as me.
He was a snitched.
Yeah, I snitched.
You too big.
I was one of the first snitches.
He looked like the Ninja Turtles.
He looked like the master splinter.
Mass and splinter, yeah.
Come here, unfuggers.
I'll tell him the nigger quick, too.
I'll chalk some white you little niggies.
Nothing bring me more peace to the niggie behind my heart.
They call love them.
Oh, boy.
Shit.
Ladies know, this is Gil Serena.
It's because I'm quiet.
don't mean I don't know shit
I don't fucking
keep pushing my button
you keep pushing the button
quickly back to the discussion in hand
brings me more peace
Nick of my bad ball
I thought Rosier got cleared
no he did get clear
you you and you
no but what I'm saying
a person of interest
I mean it shifted he was available
to play for the he did not play in that game
or did the NBA clear him
he was my league is cleared right
Yeah, okay
Yeah
For the time being
Like don't sing my name
I know
You don't sing my name
Back to the basketball
That's what I said
I don't like
I really feel his pain
Because like
He got penalized
Like he lost some money
Because
Yeah
He lost money because of
What happened
And you're like
You got to reward this man for that
You can't just throw names
And shit
Yeah
And then just, oh, yeah, we dropped it.
We didn't find nothing.
I was in the middle of negotiating.
Give me, where's my money?
Like, where's my money?
I was negotiating in the middle before you did this.
You have to pay for this.
That has to be part of a crime.
You can't do shit like that.
Uncle Sam did not give.
I think the real crime is when I was betting over
and them niggas was bedding under,
I was the one losing my bed.
Somebody owed me some of the fucking.
They didn't tell nobody.
Because I was missing shit by one, one little marr, I'm like, all greens and him.
What the fuck is Terry out here doing?
Terry, what you doing?
You're supposed to be average at 12 and you.
You didn't stubbed out the game at 7.
Somebody on me some goddamn bread, man.
I'm pissed.
All right.
All right.
Remember that work put me out there?
No.
They gotta pay, too.
What you are?
She messed up all my relationships, the one you put.
You said you were going to do this like
Oh, that's wow
That's the coldest line I ever heard though
Being recorded
Are you gonna suck
Like you said you was
I'm like
Like nobody said no
It was one of those things
Before like viral was going viral
Yeah
He got recorded
He looked dead in the camera
And ask that question
I'm like
Who I think
God save me, God please.
You're going to do what you promise like you say.
You're going to be like you promise.
Like you promise, I'm like.
I mean, they do say a promise is a promise.
I was like, no, you crazy for that one.
But let's move on, if we can, please.
Let's go back to the Eastern Conference.
Captain Nick made in Madison Square Garden in the first game of the Mike Brown era, what
many considered to be a battle between the top two teams in the east this season.
New York was looking to build off their first Eastern Conference
finals appearance in 25 years.
Tass Brown was getting them over the hump
after shockingly firing Tom Tibido this offseason.
Nicks were 0 and 4 against the Cavs last season
were without Josh Hart and Mitchell Robinson
while facing a cab squad that was without Darry's Garland,
Max Drews, and DeAndre Hunter.
Cat was also listed as doubtful with the grade two quad strain
but ended up playing.
So earlier this week, the big bodega raised some eyebrows
when he was asked about his role with the Knicks offense
and responded,
know. So Knicks came out on fire in the first half, taking a 15-point lead in the break.
Donovan Mitchell tried to put the team on his back in the second half, scoring 21 of his 31 points
in the third quarter. The Cavs even things up after three, but the Knicks went on a 14-0 run
early in the fourth quarter, take control of the game, get the dub. O. G. Nen Anobie led the
team in scoring with 24 points. He also had 14 rebounds, three steals. Jalen Brunton added
23 points in five dimes. Tiles put up a triple double, excuse me, 1911 rebounds.
Deuce McBride, big off the bench with 15 points.
So giving his starters a heavy workload was a staple of the Tibbs era.
Mike Brown implored a different approach.
11 players seeing the court in this game, 10 playing double-digit minutes.
Nick's bench was last in the league, and nearly 22 bench points for game last season.
Bench came through with 35 points in this win.
So, Shy, we will start with you.
Biggest takeaways from the Knicks season opening win over the Cavs.
First things first, it's going to be different for Jordan Clarkson, specifically, to try to find his way with this team.
I didn't like the way that they play him.
He's going to be in that kind of, that gray area trying to figure out where he's going to get his shots.
You know, you got Brunson, OG, you got Bridges.
They're going to do their team.
They're going to be their one, two, three punch.
And you got towns at the four.
I'm trying to figure it out at the, I mean, times of the five, trying to figure it out at the four, but between McBride, Shammett and Clarkson, those three are going to have to figure it out.
And I think Jordan's going to get the tail end of it just because he don't really play defense like that.
I think Duce coming in playing a huge role defensively gives him a better edge.
And then Shammett can really show that he's a more consistent shooter.
but I think Jordan is the
he's the X factor he can
really give you a lot of different looks
if they go small I think he'll have an opportunity
to play in that lineup
but I think if you do bring him
off the bench you got to run stuff for him
you got to give him some actions
you got to make him
a premier player on the
second unit if you're going to have him on the
team because he's got too much game
to not be utilized
but outside of that
I'm pretty pleased of what Mike was able to
do as far as his game plan. But I think Carl Anthony Towns is still justified to say, you know,
he don't know what his role is on the team as far as what he did last year and what he was
able to do. And I think that was Tibbs' freelance offense that he was kind of pleased with
because he could just do what he wanted. And I think Mike is more structured. So I'm just going to put
the Knicks in a good position with Jalen knowing what he doing, but Kat not really knowing.
I think they're setting up a trade for for Greek Freak.
They're Greek.
How do you feel about that?
As our resident Milwaukee Bucks fan, Mr. Bucks and Six?
The next, I mean, they're still slightly favorite because the east is still open right now.
I mean, they did go 11 deep last night on their bench, which they didn't play the bench a lot last year, so that was good.
But yeah, the biggest question mark is Kat.
You know, Kat said he doesn't know his role and his play.
position and things like that
so that can be some drama in the locker room
especially after having a year that they
had last year, you know, that amazing run.
So coming back this year, you still don't know
your role and you don't know where you fit in
in the office. It can cause a lot of drama.
But the good thing is the east is open.
So, you know, we'll just see what happens.
I mean, they took care of business one game,
so.
1911, like I said, 0 and 4 against the Cavs last season.
Cav started the season on a 15-0
winning streak.
Yeah. Now they're 0-1.
Check that hell.
Yeah.
Top seat in the east last year.
Looking to reclaim that in a weaker Easter conference, but the Knicks had something to say about
it.
Let's shift to this side, gentlemen.
What's the biggest takeaway is from the next season opening win over the calves?
I would say Mike Brown for sure.
He's a good coach somewhat.
I feel like...
Somewhat?
No, I see it.
Like some stuff he'd do where he try to...
prove and yell at the stars and that stuff could get him fired, you know, when you try
to put the stars.
May it's all right.
And that's the thing he'll have to figure out with towns, for sure, before the media
do Towns versus Brown.
And another thing I kind of don't like what he does with the scores, like a Clarkson,
for sure.
Somebody that could be a spark off the bench.
Somebody you're going to need to have confidence come playoffs because he's going to be, you
will have one of them games where you don't need them, make, make shots, that X factor.
So you're going to have to figure that out who you're going to have as your six to seven
man that you gave to the 20 minutes a night.
Did you play for Mike?
Yeah.
Okay, that's the word.
That's how I know.
So I know, yeah.
That was second chair, Mike Brown.
He said, you make nobody trying that shit over here.
That was second chair, Mike Brown.
He was an assistant.
Oh, he was an assistant.
But, you know, I could see he does a lot of...
I ain't as nice as boss.
That's fun.
Yeah, I see it.
I've been there.
Biggest takeaways for you with this Nick Squad this season.
Tib's obviously, like I said, super reliant, playing on starters, heavy workload,
not really utilizing the bench as much, Mike Brown.
During the season, opening night last year.
Last year, 12, second game 12.
Same shit.
Actually, these starters played more this game than they did.
First game last year.
What did that take away?
Nothing.
He played like he didn't know where he fed in at in the hall
and looked like it.
What happens when Josh Hart gets back, right?
because it seems like you're the best players that are in that top eight, nine are all guards.
It's all guards.
It's a guard driven and you don't have enough athleticism to protect it.
So you got Clarkson, you got Josh Hart, you got Shamitz, you got McBride, which I like him, right?
That explosive down.
Not out, Deuce McBride likes you too,
Gil, friend of the program.
Like, I wanted him to be, like, you and Brunson,
because, you know, you can push the ball down court
and probably get an easy layer for how fast you are.
So hopefully they play him a lot more.
But, you know, you have a jam log at that one, two.
They're all kind of like small.
It's going to have to be a good offensive play
when those guys are in.
So we got to wait and see what happens.
Game 10, 11, 12, when people get familiar with their roles.
But right now, it's, you know, it's a good game, you know.
The better players played well.
You know, you see, Donovan Mitchell's already starting off, like, let's go.
So, you know, just to go.
I think that lineup that they used specifically was for the fact that Cleveland plays big.
I think that usually OG plays the four.
Hart comes in, he plays the three, and then McBride comes off the bench.
That's why I say with Jordan Clarkson, I'm thinking if you do bring heart back, you do
got OG out there, you do got Bridges out there, you're going to need McBride and Clarkson
to play well together so that they have more firepower other than leaving Clarkson out and
not having anybody but Deuce McBride on that.
Because we've seen Deuce last year be out there, but when he's shooting bad, that's when
they don't have that other firepower to sustain leads and all that.
That's why Tibbs had to play guys longer is because they didn't have the firepower to sustain leads and a defense.
So I think if they play small against teams that are playing small, you'll see a different outcome.
And I think that's going to be, like he said, with Mike Brown, whether or not he's holding Carl Anthony Towns accountable to certain things and have him out there mad or benching him for stupid shit.
And it's like, well, who are you going to serve him out for?
So you've got Mitchell Robinson and Josh Hart out.
But that's still, if you think about that roster, Mitchell, towns, O.G. Bridges, like, they have nine.
They got a nice squad.
They got a nice squad.
And that's why I got them out of the east.
I got the Spurs out of the West.
So if they can sustain a good balance and good structure.
That's a nasty championship game.
Spurs next, NBA Finches.
They take it back to 2000.
Yeah, Spurs Nicks.
that lockout year
so we talked about
Mike Brown a little bit
but during a recent episode
of all the smoke
of Matt Barnes
was highly critical
of Mike Brown
and he was too nice
of a guy to be a head coach
recounting stories
about Brown's time
with the Lakers
after Phil Jackson's departure
when Kobe
and Meadow World Peace
would routinely
sub themselves
back into basketball games
which a circuit event
they were just walking in there
not worried about what you're talking about
so Brown also touched
So our Barnes also touched on Brown's time as head coach of the Kings,
where after helping the Kings in their 16th season playoff drought,
winning coach of the year in 2023, he lost the locker room,
was fired around Christmas last season.
We got a job quick.
They get a job quickly.
Swaggy, you talked about us earlier,
but you want to chip with Mike Brown on the Warriors.
You both have championship experience together on that team.
He was associate coach on that team.
So for you, what is Mike Brown like as a coach?
And obviously, Assistant Coaching Role, different than a head coaching role.
Yeah.
Oh, the Warriors.
Yeah, look at it.
Mike Brown was like the guy that.
I know y'all probably talked a lot.
All right.
The position where you're sitting on, you'll see, right?
Because usually like 15, 14, 12, 11, they usually have real good relationships.
I wasn't there and no.
I wasn't there.
No.
No, no.
Not on duty.
I wasn't 11, 10, 11 to it.
I was in single digits.
I was more like...
Nine.
Oh, no, I got me.
I get that.
You got in the game.
7, 8.
I was like 7 and 8.
Okay, okay.
That was like 7 and 8.
All right.
And you know.
But for sure, Mike Brown was the guy you sent in
to talk to people for sure.
He was, um...
That was his role.
When somebody wasn't playing right or, you know,
when they knew,
needed to come like a draymond down you send the fluffer yeah you know and he
come in with the glasses trying to smile be nice but at times you do see I don't like
how Mike would yell at like the six seven eight nine to ten
yeah when you're like over car they do walk over for sure for sure for sure
I did see that a lot, but that's the only all coaches.
That's part of the job.
That's the only all coaches, so you can't say that.
I got a hot take.
I don't know if it's a hot take, it might, it's a good take, but it's, I want to know
where Steve Nass, Steve Curris ranked in coaching.
Yeah, I want to, all time.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Because I got them like two or three.
Really?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
You do?
Steve Kerr?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I got them two or three.
Why?
Why?
Why?
Why?
Is it about the rings or the winning percentage?
The criteria of who did you have on your team when you acquired these rings?
Like, who are these players?
So your players and their ranking and your ring.
and your rings
so like
you know what I mean
right so if you
if you got
let's say Pat Riley
okay right
your rings
and then you name the players
on your rings
you have at the time
Magic Johnson
top five player
he's still a top five player
in consensus
Kareem
top five player
in consensus
LeBron
top five in consensus
Shaquille O'Neill
top five in consensus
right so the only person that like if you go through all media those four are in everyone's
them their top five that's what your rings come from so you're supposed to have that so i want
to look at so my criteria what i'm looking at like if you make an argument is your talent
who'd you have when you want them right so it you look so i'm like well step so you got
you got step and katie step is step is top 10 katie's top 15
Yeah, top ten, I mean, you'll probably get top ten, but yeah.
Yeah, I mean, if he finished his top ten, you know, obviously.
But, you know, that's your two stars.
You got one, you got one who's not top 75.
You got two that's not 75, so that kind of, that kind of in heightens you.
In the NBA around that time, they won.
What was they ranked in the NBA around that time when they won it, though?
I think you're talking about all time, though.
Like so.
But we talk about during the time.
Yeah, they were the best.
Yeah, because magic, where was Magic ranked when he won?
He won it around that side stuff.
He didn't get him every time.
Give him to the MVP every time.
Right, you know what I mean?
So it's...
I mean, yeah.
Yeah, I mean, so he did come in and win it, Magic.
Yeah.
But that's what I'm saying.
You won it with somebody else.
But you have an MVP on your team already, too.
So that's what I'm saying.
You already have an MVP.
You get him.
It's like, damn, okay, you're supposed to win.
You're supposed to win these rings.
So, you know, when you're talking about, like...
So you're like...
You got him higher than...
When I'm talking about your legacy, like,
Your legacy is off to do it.
So you got a higher than Pat?
I do.
So it's Phil Jackson one?
No.
No?
Hmm?
I thought it.
I would have Pop one.
Pop one?
Okay.
Yeah, because you have Tim Duncan as your top ten.
And then your other two stars aren't top 75 players.
I'm not mad at Pop.
But you have five rings.
Like that is...
So what did you feel?
I feel probably three.
That's what I'm saying like if I do, when I'm, when I'm,
What I'm saying is I'm, this is where, so I'm like, well, damn, like, if you go down
Red Arbike, I'm just saying, like, I got to take your talent, who'd you have on your team
when you won, and then go like that versus just looking at your percentage record and then
say, oh, my God, because you have the best winning percentage, you are the best.
It should be winning percentage plus talent.
We need a list.
One.
A top ten list then.
Jordan and.
You got Jordan, Pippen, Rodman, then you have Shaquille O'Neal.
And Kobe.
And Kobe.
How many three pieces did George Popovich?
Yeah.
How many three pieces did he have?
What is your criteria?
I think he just went back to back once, right?
I said how many three pieces?
None.
None.
How many has Phil Jason have?
He has two.
Two.
But Pop has one in every, in three different decades.
99, 2000, and 2010.
He would have three.
He would have three.
We're supposed to have three.
He was supposed to have three three-pits.
He has three-three-piece.
Two with the bulls and one with the Lakers.
He has three-three-peeds.
He has three-peats.
He has three.
He has three feet.
Yes.
The two-posed.
He has 11 rings.
Man.
Two with the balls.
Uh-huh.
Three-peet, three-peat and then one with the Lakers.
I thought they went.
He doesn't have three.
With the Lakers.
Did they go back to back?
Oh, yes.
They said.
Come on.
Yes, they did.
He's supposed to be a Kobe three, but he don't know Kobe went three peat.
Three, three peat?
I know.
He said, he said, how many...
Phil had three, three peat.
Yes, Bill.
Okay.
He should have four.
Who, Phil?
Yes.
Yeah, he should.
He should have four.
Gil is busy.
Gil has left the arena momentarily.
I've got the whole new water.
How is somebody with three, three piece, not the greatest coach of all time?
Man.
number three. Because he said, by his criteria, he saw him about the talent that he had.
By whose criteria? I said by my criteria.
So the criteria. So, I don't know the criteria. Winning nine straight, winning nine straight,
winning nine straight, winning nine straight championship. What kind of criteria are we talking about here?
I'm saying, okay, so if you have the, he's never won a three, Pete. So what I'm saying is if you have
the number one player that ever lived on your team, right, you are in heightened as a coach.
Then you add these defensive players who's top five in their craft on your team.
Then you win your championships.
And then you retire, whatever.
You come back.
You come back with the gifted Shaquille O'Neal.
And then you have in that team arguably the number two best player that ever lived on your team with the Shikkina.
You're supposed to win, right?
Okay.
Okay.
And when we think about his team, we're saying who's on it.
Look who's on these teams.
These are arguably top five to ever lace them up.
Ever.
Ever.
We're not talking about indigent.
We're saying ever.
These people are top five ever.
We have a generation argument that Kobe should be number one or two.
He has five rings with that guy.
the one they're trying to jump him over
he has six rings with that guy
think you're trolling man
it don't even make sense
that if you got number one player
if you got number one player
if you had the number
how many rings
would Phil Jackson have
I mean it was a hot thing
though you didn't say it was a hot thing
I'm glad you led with that
if you get popped Michael
Jordan the Bulls
does he not win
do you give him
what's the name
because I swear he beat the same teams
that Phil Jackson had with his roster.
That's a hypothetical, though.
No, he beat them with his roster.
Jim Duncan played against Michael Jordan.
When the Lakers was favorite during the lockout,
when Michael Jordan retired, the Lakers was favorite.
San Antonio won that championship.
Yeah, in 99.
You should know your back.
You wouldn't know.
Phil Jackson was not coaching in 1999.
They went into a lockout.
I know he came.
They went into the lockout because they was trying to figure out if Michael Jordan.
Who won a championship in 99?
Michael Jordan was going to come back.
What you said?
Say it again?
He was trying to figure it out.
Say it again.
Who went to championship?
San Antonio's first.
San Antonio's favorite.
I don't know.
I know that Phil Jackson wasn't coaching.
No, he came after San Antonio won.
98, 99, yeah.
He came to 99.
Yes.
That's what this is.
I know that.
I said Phil Jackson was not coaching.
That's why they won.
Because they're trying to figure out where Phil was going to go because he is a dynasty builder.
And where did he go when he got two thousand?
Three in a row.
And then what happened?
What happened?
After that, Phil did he do?
He stepped down and he stepped down and came back.
And then they won two in a row.
And it's like, how are we even having this conversation?
When the Lakers was favorite,
The Lakers were favorite when Michael Jordan and Phil Nymn left the game.
They were.
San Antonio, the, yeah, Lakers was favorite.
Shaquille Lakers was favorite, and they lost.
They got swept by the Spurs.
Spurs won the championship, and then Phil went to the favorite, which was the Lakers.
The Lakers was favorite both years, but they lost the first one.
Yeah, they lost.
They got swept, but they were still favorite that year to win the championship coming out of the lockout.
And then Spurs won, Spurs won, and Spurs won, and Lakers were favorite again.
So that means, think about what I'm saying.
The Lakers are favorite after the lockout.
The Lakers is favorite to get sweat, they got swept.
Listen to what I'm saying, but going into the season, going into the season, the Lakers were favorite.
This team is not some builder team.
They are favorite to win the championship.
Why?
They get swept.
Why is the most dominant?
And Jordan and is gone.
How many times has Shaq been swept before he got to the Lakers?
He was never favorite to win the championship.
How many times did he get swept?
I didn't ask that.
When he was 12.
When he was 22.
I was the same age.
When it was a simple question.
How many times did Shaq get swept before he got?
got to the Lakers.
But the question is,
the question is,
oh,
no,
no,
no,
you're changing the question.
You're changing it.
I don't give a fuck about your question.
Wait,
I don't give a fuck about your question because it doesn't,
it's nothing.
The Shack gets swept.
Who cares?
Michael Jordan was playing.
So,
damn.
Michael Jordan not playing and he got Swip on.
Michael Jordan was playing.
In 1999,
Michael Jordan was not playing.
No.
Guess who got swept?
Shack in the Lakers.
Shack in the Lakers.
Shack in the Lakers.
They were favorite.
They were favorite.
How about to say it?
Okay.
How about to say?
No.
Because you're talking.
Are you crazy?
How about this?
Let me finish it first.
No.
98.
Who was favored to win the championship?
The Bulls, right?
Right.
They were favored all in the 90s.
Right.
The Bulls retired.
They gone.
The three times, it's gone.
Okay.
The Lakers was fake.
So how good do you have to be
to be to be favorite to win the championship.
Yeah, right, right.
Okay, so let's look at this team.
This is not Utah Jazz, right?
You know how Utah Jazz has no chance.
You go to their favorite.
That means they're either this year, they're either O KC, Houston Rockets, or Denver Nuggets.
That's who the Lakers is coming into that season as.
They go, no, they go into the playoffs and they lose to the Spurs.
They get swept by the Spurs, okay?
After the championship Spurs celebrating, that next season,
their favorite again as the number one team.
And Phil Jackson came to that team.
But why would the Lakers be favored after being swept?
Yeah.
Because they have...
Because they picked up Phil Jackson.
Oh, Jesus Christ.
So the year before, they was...
And they have an upcoming Kobe Bryant.
Upcoming Kobe Bryant.
Yes.
But when Phil came there, they didn't get swept again.
No, they won it.
They won it.
They won it.
And then they won it.
And then again.
They won the championship that they was favored in again, again and again.
But didn't win the first one...
When they didn't have field.
But they was...
It wasn't a game special.
But that's how good they were.
It was a sweet.
Four in a row.
They worked good.
Clean.
No chance.
No feel.
No feel, no chance.
When you got Phil, one, two, three.
We're on the same page.
You know what?
I'm going to put this back in the bag, man.
That's what I was favorite in four and five.
Who was favorite?
I didn't bring one bowl.
I wouldn't have brought you a other bowl.
I'm for real.
Lakers and they lost up.
Yeah, there was, there was favorite six years in a row.
Yeah.
Phil Jackson is ours in a row.
Hey, without no doubt, Big Jackson is the best coach of it.
They were his favorite six years in a row.
Phil Jackson.
I mean, I mean, Lakeer fan in the 96th.
I like the pop, though, because Pop won it in three different areas.
He wanted with who he had.
Why didn't he win three in a row?
You put Tim over a couple call it.
Tom Hogan.
Tim Duncan is the greatest number one pick ever.
What I'm saying is, are y'all, listen, keep making it.
If you have a Bogotty, you're supposed to win this race, right?
Yes, and if you lose somehow.
you are favorite to win it.
So if you win six of them because of your engine,
you don't get that credit.
You don't get that credit?
What do we got that?
What I'm saying is Pop is winning,
he has Tim Duncan and his two other main options
didn't even make top 75.
Isn't Tim Duncan a number one pick?
What are we talking about?
Tim Duncan's the number one pick, right?
Think about what we're talking about.
Phil did that too.
Like Kobe's two rings.
The reason that we celebrate him so much, who did he have on his team when he won those?
Phil Jackson.
No, but who did he have with his team?
Real Jackson.
Who did he have on his team?
Phil Jackson.
We look at it like, Phil Jackson.
No, it was a triangle offense.
Huh?
We had the Paulsson.
Wait, hold on.
Hey, hey.
I have a super intelligence, and we've already talked about all this.
What happened to feel when they was losing?
What you mean?
What happened to feel when they was losing?
Nobody.
What you mean?
What happened to feel when he was losing?
What he was losing?
He stayed there.
He stayed there.
You mean the six years in a row?
And then he won.
And then he won with Kuwait.
You mean the six years in a row he's just like not won anything?
He's won five rings and three different errors.
Since when?
What was the last championship he won?
You know what's funny?
The 2014?
I'm glad he did that with the field.
I'm glad he did with the field because when he talks about Kobe's two rings, he uses how bad the team was.
I didn't.
And that's how great you were.
I ain't never said that in my life.
Yeah, you did.
No, I haven't.
I don't use how bad the team.
I don't talk bad about the team.
Everybody talks how bad that team was compared to other teams that won championships
because they wasn't filled with stars.
His second option was Gasol.
His third option was who?
He's better than LeBron because LeBron had this, this, this, this, this.
That's the same with Tim.
Look at Tim's second and third option.
No facts.
So when I'm looking at five rings, he's like, damn, I didn't know what was his second and third option?
Right.
What was it?
Tony, not a top of it.
75 not a top of
Famers. Two Hall of Famers. That was
second round picture. They made a
Hall of Fameers. Tony
Park and Janobly
They're two Hall of Famers.
They became that.
They're the
They became and because of their five rings.
You guys just said who was the two and three?
Quart.
Go-I one to another one.
Another top 75.
Yeah.
Would you pick you?
Another top.
So is Jamal Crawford?
Is Jamal Crawford?
Is Jamal Crawford?
Are we moving the goalpost?
I'm just asking a question.
We're talking about field deck.
No.
No.
He should be.
Who would you take?
Jamal Crawford or Genobey?
Well, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's.
No, that's a question.
No.
I mean, they both off the best.
They're six men, so.
I'm taking Mono Genovoie the champion, right?
I didn't ask you, because you, you're going to act.
I want him to contradict.
That's one of my favorite players.
I would take him over a lot of people.
Who are you going to take?
I would take him over a lot of people.
people. That's what makes sense.
Okay.
Who you're going to take?
Phil Jackson or Popovich, the guy who won
three, three Pete.
Shit, I'm going to go with Pop.
Three, three, pieces, and a guy who had,
Paul looked like he can win with anything.
He never won any.
Paul looked like, all I need is one player and I can put.
But he had Kauai.
He didn't win.
He did win.
He did win one with a fucking young
Kauai, living.
2015, 2016, 2016.
Look what he was, 2017.
Tim Duncan was 37.
2018.
What's what he was 38 and 19.
20.
20.
Tim Duncan was 38.
Every one seven years.
Look at Woody's winning.
Tell Duncan was 30 17.
No, when Phil Jackson feel like I'm going to go home.
This is when you win when I'm not coached for two years.
You win when I'm not coaching.
That's a lie because he, no.
That's a lie.
Phil Jackson, wait, Phil Jackson has been in the league when when talking about.
At one time, but you win.
Yeah.
What happened?
Oh, four?
Oh, four.
Yeah, what was going on?
What was going on?
What was going on?
He know what's going on.
What was it?
Was it a major distraction?
What?
It's a lot of things going on, right?
But that was why he should have wore four in a row.
That's really four in a row.
If we use an ifs was a fifth, you know, the hypotheticals y'all be throwing out there.
Come on, man.
This stew is really good.
I thought it was oodles or noodles.
Smell it.
And it transformed into a stew.
Yeah, man, it turned into a whole bunch of shit when I started purring the motherfucker in here.
On the season, he's formed together.
Tows and ankles and shit.
You know why was it four in a row?
Four in the road.
Hearts and shit.
Because Spurs won.
I know.
Who got that?
We just said that.
And we said, why?
There's a lot of shit going on there.
What was a lot of shit going wrong?
Because that wasn't going on then.
Oh, God.
That went the next year.
No, it didn't.
Oh, Lord.
What says, 2004?
When Shaq came in, overweight and shit, and they was fighting and shit.
Yeah.
That shit.
That was when it was like, Cole, you need to dial it back.
So they didn't go three in the row, right?
Yeah, they went three in a row.
Okay, okay.
He said he was a Laker fan.
He said he was a Laker fan.
I know.
I checked you on that.
A Laker fan.
Don't flip now.
You said Phil didn't have three.
I said he had 11.
I was mistaken.
I know you were mistaken.
But I'm not now.
But I'm not now.
I'm not mistaken now at all.
Because now we got it right.
Because you were.
It was good for me to be mistaken because he had a good argument with me being mistaken.
Why would you correct me and make me look?
You know why it was mistaken?
Because the three rings that filled with a one is with Kobe.
So if he was a real Kobe fan, that wouldn't even have been a fault process.
And it always comes back to that.
You see how that it is?
If you were a Kobe fan, you know he won three in a row.
So how can you mistaken that?
Unless you're just bandwagon jumping, you don't know when they won.
I was referring to 2009, 2010.
Oh, it would have been four.
Oh, so you forgot the first three.
Oh, 2008, 2009.
Oh, so you forgot the first three.
2009.
So you forgot the three.
Oh, the Boston one, the 2009 and the 2010 would have been the three-peed.
That would have been four.
But you said three.
So you forgot the first three.
No, no, no.
I was just not counting the Chicago one before before.
Oh, yeah, that makes it.
It was the before before.
Every little kid knows Jordan two, three-peated.
So you forgot.
Yeah, I forgot.
I forgot in the moment.
It was the news.
It was the news.
It's a lot of shit going on here.
It's the news.
There's a lot of shit in here to do.
It's the fumes.
Very season.
There's a lot of shit over here.
I'm not sure how much the Cooper flag brought in terms of the city.
It's just a lot.
Fuck your brain.
I don't put that away.
On that note,
we put all this shit away, man.
Before we're on that note, it's very trickery.
Please.
Hey, man, I miss y'all.
I miss y'all.
Y'all miss me.
I miss all.
Listen.
Yeah.
Just to show you how they don't know nothing.
Oh, fool.
Okay.
You're ready?
You feel?
You can smell it, right?
It's like Thanksgiving dinner.
You know how you said?
I'm glad you ate that.
You ain't out.
Oh, shit.
0-2-3, Spurs won the championship.
Okay.
Nothing happened.
You know what they're saying?
Something happened.
What happened?
Nothing happened.
It didn't happen yet.
Spurs was already the champions.
They already defeated and won that.
They won already.
what they are meaning happened in the summer
so when shit just come to us it just happened
no what I'm saying is what you're saying why the Lakers didn't win
that didn't happen yet they already lost spurs beat them
spurs won so they were three pete going on a four that was the interview
when a dude was asking Kobe Kobe what are you going to do in the in the
offseason to you know get yourself back to the finals he said I'm going to work
I'm going to work myself too exhausted
He had tears in his eyes
Because he's like
We just lost to the spurs
And we shouldn't have
Yeah
We shouldn't have lost this
Of course not
But we did
Yeah
So why did you just use
Before the other reason
That they lost
A lot of things is going on
Yeah there was
The Shack came in
Out of shape
And he had to dial it back
When Phil said
Come on Cole
We gotta bring the big fella back in
Wrong year
Wrong year
Okay
Wrong year sir
That doesn't change the three three piece.
And the no three piece for Popovich.
No three piece for Popovic, three three piece for Bill Jackson.
