Story confirmed. There were 12 games around the league last night, but one performance had the entire basketball world detention, and that was last night before this morning. Wednesday night marked the debut of number one overall pick, Cooper Flag, in a matchup against number two pick Dylan Harper as a Spurs, pulled up to Dallas to take on the Mabbs.

But Wimby stole the show and his return to the court for the first time in eight months with his sophomore season cut short by a blood clot in his shoulder. So after a summer training with Shawa Lynn Monks, KG, and even Hakeem Olajuwon, Wimbi put the league on notice that the future is now.

So let's take a look at some of the highlights. Alien came through with the historic performance dropping 40 points, 15 rebounds in three blocks while going 15 to 21 from the field. As the Spurs proves to a 30-point blowout. The 40 piece was the most points in the season opener in Spurs' franchise history. Winby the fourth player

in NBA history with 40 points, 15 rebounds and zero turnovers in a game. Last season's rookie of the year Stefan Castle looked great as well, finishing with 22.7 boards and 6-9s on 8 to 12 shootings. And Dylan Harper led the Spurs bench with 15 points and 23 minutes of action.

But the body, it's, it's, I'm having more fun now that I'm not struggling to move as much, you know, and I know I still need to get better, and I'm still going to get better. So before a season, any injury, Wimby was averaging 24 points, 11 rebounds, 4.5.

blocks, the 46 games last year made his first all-star appearance. He appears to taking this game to a whole other level based on this one game sample size, so I don't want to get ahead of myself, but is it too early for the WIMBVP discussion? You know, you could tell you got stronger. And you can just tell just his intensity, you know, yes, it's the first game, but, you know, you missed out on being a defensive player

of the year last year because of injury. You come back, you work on your body, you make a statement the first game. He definitely going to be in a conversation for MVP. And definitely if you make the 65 mark, you know, he'll be a defensive player of the year. So, yeah. He picked three guys. Drivelin, he had Jamal Crawford. Yeah, Jamal Crawford too. Yeah. He worked on his defense with KG and they worked on his post moves with Hakeem, right? And that was the point of my comment about Hakeem.

Hakeem learned his footwork from soccer when he was 10. So it was natural for him. Guys who don't have footwork. it's hard for them to pick this up. Yeah. Wimby, Yokic, Joel and Bede, mostly all guards, right? The Rosen Types, Shea, Luca, they can go to Hakeem because he can just teach him the moves. They already have the basics.

When you're talking about just pure athleticism, guys who just use athleticism, they can't pick that up because they don't even have the basics of it. Yeah. Right? It is like, you know, like Michael Jordan teaching jumpers how to jump in the Frito line, right? There's only a certain group, one-legged jumpers that got that kind of, if Curry took his class, or anybody who jumped up, Dominique Wilkins, you can't jump off of one foot. Game one, you can see it in preseason that he absorbed in a short period of time. when he was teaching. Yeah, Hakeem is more beneficial to him than, like, just, like, when Yannis went. Yeah. Like, it wasn't more beneficial to Yonah. It was more beneficial to Wimby because Wimby also played soccer. Yeah. Yeah, yeah.

I do see a lot of Yonis. I can see how, like, the work acted, how Yannis got stronger. You can see how hard he worked. I could see that he watched a lot of Yonis too, though. Who? Oh, Wimby, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah.

Hmm. Hmm. I mean, I promote. being a student in the game. I think Wembe is just like that. I think every other player who goes and seeks out anybody else's tutelage wants to learn from the game, regardless if you pick it up or not, that's what you are a student for. You go and find out whether it is for you or not and whether you can put it into your game or not. And I just remember knocking guys for trying. I'm trying to go get it from over here. Let me go pick it up here. Regardless if I fall twice,

get up three times, still going to keep trying it. Because at some point when you do it enough, it becomes muscle memory. And when it becomes muscle memory, that's when I go out there and you start looking apart. Start looking like, oh, this shit work now because I've done it enough. It's repetition. You go and you study the fundamentals. And becoming a student at a game is most important for the students because you are going to learn from your master, your teacher. And if you can do that, you will then see that all the results of hard work, paying attention to the details.

When it comes to just training and working out and improving your skill, there's skill development and then there's just working out, right? Most players just work out. They just think working out twice a day is me getting, skill development is very different. Now, when it comes to skill development, you have to really break your game down to see where you need to improve and then improve on what you have.

So Winby, everything he's good at and he wants to improve in, he actually went to the people that he felt was experts in that field. Right? The way he, his dribble style, if you think about it, and all the little tricky moves he likes to do,

that is Jamal Crawford. Right, when you're looking about, defense. He has Tim Duncan and David Robinson in his backyard, but he's a frail, skinny type. He plays more like KG. He goes to KG. but to get it from Jamal I mean because like even last night you saw him he had that thing up here so he's not working out with no trainers that don't know nothing about the game you know just picking out random guys saying I'm all here and I got this person this person this person in the gym and we just getting shots up and come on man that's where the game has been regulated to that's why everybody's everybody looked the same out there and that's why he looked different you're working out with just a trainer who passing you the ball you just getting shots up this trainer culture that we've seen I mean we've talked about it over and over

And the fact that that young Spurs team man handled that team made them look irrelevant, you know, even AD, like AD you're supposed to be like top tier defensive player, right? But, you know, he's got a, he's got a lot of different people in his position that he's going to be going at and going to be coming to him. So it's not like he's playing the four, you know, you're not moving him at the four, playing him out of position. So he's playing in his true position where he can dominate. And he plays both sides of the ball, which I love. And I think Jordan's going to get the tail end of it just because he don't really play defense like that. I think Duce coming in playing a huge role defensively gives him a better edge.

And then Shammett can really show that he's a more consistent shooter. but I think Jordan is the he's the X factor he can really give you a lot of different looks if they go small I think he'll have an opportunity to play in that lineup but I think if you do bring him off the bench you got to run stuff for him

you got to give him some actions you got to make him a premier player on the second unit if you're going to have him on the team because he's got too much game to not be utilized but outside of that I'm pretty pleased of what Mike was able to

do as far as his game plan. But I think Carl Anthony Towns is still justified to say, you know, he don't know what his role is on the team as far as what he did last year and what he was able to do. And I think that was Tibbs' freelance offense that he was kind of pleased with because he could just do what he wanted. And I think Mike is more structured.
