Welcome back to Gil's Arena presented by Underdog.
Whoa, whoa!
Whoa, whoa!
As you can see, couch a little light today.
We had to ship Gil off to New York.
His son, Elijah, playing in the McDonald's All-American game today.
Shout-out Elijah. Shout out Elijah.
Shout out the entire Arena family.
Was gonna do a stupid April Fool's joke,
but you know, we all too old for that.
And Ken, you say you don't play with those April Fool's jokes.
I do, just don't touch me or do nothing
that I spend my money on, that's all.
Real simple. I like jokes.
I like to laugh.
I'm a little nervous, to tell you the truth.
Yeah.
If Gil was here, I'd be more nervous,
but now that I know he's gone, I feel a little more safer.
Okay. Yeah.
How about the paper fools?
Yeah.
You already know you're gonna have some shenanigans planned.
Yeah, sure.
But nonetheless, this is Gil's Arena,
presented by underdog Woo Woo.
Woo Woo!
We got NBA champion of the world, Swaggy P, Nick Young.
I almost fucked up and said Gil.
I'm so programmed to do the intro.
NBA champion of the world, Swaggy P. Your USC women's
squad unfortunately took the L. So we got some things
we'll address in the coming days.
Sad day.
Shout out to you.
Keep getting better. But it's all good. UCLA in the final four, though, representing the coming days. Sad day. Shout out to Drew. Keep getting better, but it's all good.
UCLA in the Final Four, though.
Representing the city well.
That's not a good thing, though.
That's not, you know, good for something.
Go Bruins.
Shout out to the Hawkeyes family.
On this side of the couch, we got WNBA champion of the world, Lexi Brown.
Back with us.
And making his return to the arena,
the distinguished gentleman from
Oak Cliff, former number one pick,
Kenya Martin, is back here with us.
So Kenya, we did our
million subscriber show yesterday. We were very sad
that you couldn't be here with us, but we got a
present for you. We got the plaque
and some flowers.
Do not touch.
Want to make sure nobody touch your flowers.
Oh, my God.
I need to take a picture for real.
We got to, you know, make sure we give you your flowers,
give you your love.
Speech! Speech!
You've been an essential part of this show.
Oh, yeah, and I sent the video in, y'all.
You know what I'm talking about?
Now, you had your shirt off and shit.
I wasn't...
I was sitting outside.
I was at the pool.
I was at the beach.
I know you was comfortable.
At the beach, sitting in the hammock.
Sitting in the hammock, chilling, doing your thing.
Feet up.
Like I stated in the video.
We do this shit with our feet up in the hammock, man.
But just want you to know how much we appreciate you.
That's a little flex.
How much of an integral part you've been to the success of this show sad you could be here yesterday with us
No, you're with the family though doing your spring break thing
So good to have you back on the couch back in the arena for all the fans out there
We still got two viewing options for you our traditional version mobile vertical version pick which everyone you want to watch
Just make sure you support the show. Here's what's cracking in the arena today
The Pelicans officially shut down Zion Williamson after another injury-plagued season.
But should the Pels keep building around their 24-year-old two-time All-Star?
We will discuss.
CJ McCollum also got shut down as well.
Talk about his future.
Thank you.
As well.
AD made some interesting comments about getting traded for Luka.
Does the former NBA champion have good reason to feel betrayed
by his former team and running mate?
Or so they say.
And the Lakers got a big win over the Rockets
to stay in the top four in the West.
How important will the Purple and Gold's bench be
to their success for the rest of the season?
It was a nasty game, first half.
Bounce back made it somewhat entertaining,
but got the
dub we needed. They got one more meeting before the end of the season, so we'll see how it all
shapes out. But before we get into all that, as always, this show is brought to you by Underdog.
Go ahead, download the app, use promo code GIL, you get up to $1,000 in bonus cash, plus a special
pick-em. As for tonight, Kenyon, who is now back on the couch to celebrate, one million subscribers
on the GIL's Arena YouTube channel with us, has some picks up in his now back on the couch to celebrate. One million subscribers on the Gills Arena YouTube channel with us.
Had some picks up in his partner pack on the Underdog app.
Let's take a look, if we can, please.
Giannis, higher, 44.5 points, rebounds, and assists.
Bucks at home taking on the Suns.
Devin Booker, higher, 7.5 assists.
Suns are going to be without KD for the near future.
We'll see if D-Book can distribute that thing.
I can see that.
You got to do a lot of playmaking.
You got to do a lot of playmaking now.
You got Trae Young, higher, 9.5 assists.
Locks taking on the Blazers at home.
Onyeka Okongwu, higher, 11.5 rebounds.
And Stephon Castle, lower, 28.5 points, rebounds and assists.
Spurs taking on the Magic at home tonight.
How y'all feeling about these picks?
I can see it.
You know, I can see Devin Booker getting double teamed,
having to pass the ball, Trey playing against Portland.
You know, and Castle, they gonna get blew out,
so he probably don't reach it.
You can't get buckets in a blowout?
Probably get subbed out the game.
Third quarter, don't play the fourth, so...
Lex, how you feeling about these?
Pixie Kenya's partner pack on the underdog act tonight.
Positivity.
The energy.
Love and positivity to start this April.
Oh, you missed it.
I don't know, I feel like...
She cussed yesterday.
Huh? She cussed yesterday. Oh my gosh.
She said she cussed. Lexi did break her
streak of no curse word.
Somebody pissed you off yesterday, Lex? Huh?
Somebody pissed you off yesterday? No, they asked me what I would do
if someone spit on me in a game.
Oh. Because of the fight
yesterday. Yeah. It wasn't no damn
fight. It wasn't a fight. It was a cat fight.
It was a... I thought that was a real
scuffle. It was a scuffle. Thank you a real scuffle. It's a scuffle.
Thank you.
A scuffle.
Okay.
Not a fight.
Thank you.
That's exactly what it was.
A melee?
That's a nice word.
Okay.
Scuffle.
Instead of a cat fight, scuffle.
And then it led to the Rondo and Chris Paul that spit, so...
Man, bruh.
Listen, okay.
So yeah, someone spit on you.
What do you do?
Oh, no.
I had somebody say he was gonna do that, and I said, please do it and it be justified
me ripping your tongue out your mouth right here.
See how far he go ripping your tongue out.
Who hear words like that
during a fight? Rip your tongue out.
Oh, yeah. He told me he was going to spit on me.
This was during the game.
I'm going to rip your tongue out.
What kind of little bitch said, I'm going to spit on you?
He was in his...
Teammates was fucking with him
saying they was going to trade him for me.
Right, we need him to get over the hump,
this, that, and the third, you, this.
So they fucking with him.
So he fell away during the game
and busting his ass during the game.
The whole way to mess with somebody.
I know, what the hell?
You know that teammates are the best.
This is the NBA we played in.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Like, this shit they do?
All this buddy, buddy, no. Like, we knew you was sensitive in the locker we played in. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like, this shit they do? All this buddy-buddy?
No.
Like, we knew you were sensitive in the locker room.
Yeah.
You got picked on all.
Oh.
You got...
Are you serious?
Yeah.
Like, you get...
Are you upset now?
You butt...
Like, really?
We just gonna keep adding on to it.
Right?
Because you ain't gonna do nothing.
To nobody.
So...
And this player took his frustrations out on you because of what his teammate did.
Yeah, absolutely.
Did you find that out later with the call?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
You know why he said that, right?
Yeah.
I was like, huh?
But then, yeah, no, they were fucking with me.
But no, yeah, that's right to cuss.
Absolutely not.
So we asked the chat if they're riding yeah, that's right to cuss. Absolutely not. Disgusting.
So we asked the chat if they're riding or fading with your pics tonight, Kenya.
63% of the chat said that they are riding with your pics.
They have offered you their chain.
Appreciate you.
Digitally, remotely.
If you like Kenya's pics and want to ride with them, head to the underdog app, use promo
code GIL, get us $1,000 a bonus cast plus a special pick him
Touch off guard Nick. He was like man
She the B word to the B. Oh, yeah
I'm with it unstable creature. Yes
Y'all dragged it I'm with you. They never gonna say it again. We've been a bad influence. I feel bad like that
I don't curse off of this couch.
It's funny.
But, okay.
But you're right.
I know you're cursing.
We get it.
I'm a lady.
You're in the locker room with us, so.
Yeah.
We get it.
So, you get it.
Sometimes you got to age.
No, did you see their reaction?
Like, it was crazy.
I was like, all right.
Smoke machine was not working yesterday.
Smoke would have gave you the standing ovation.
The whole arena was locked in.
But if you can't watch Gills Arena Live with us on YouTube,
we have audio versions available on Apple, Spotify,
wherever you get your podcasts.
So let's talk a little bit about the Pelicans.
Yesterday, Pelicans announced that Zion Williamson,
CJ McCollum are out for the remaining seven games of their season.
CJ dealing with a bone bruise in his right foot that has kept him sidelined since March 23rd,
while Zion has a bone bruise in his back and hasn't played since March 19th.
But they making up shit.
Bone bruise in your back?
God damn.
I ain't never heard of that before.
Because they can't say it's an injury he already had.
Now people are going to start to question it, right?
Yeah.
Can't say it's his hamstring no more because that's what it's been.
Doctor said I need a backiotomy. Yeah, right? Got a bruised butt. Come on, man. He has
not played since March 19th, so no reason to rush either player back because the Pelicans have a 48%
chance at a top four pick and a 12.5% chance at the top pick in the draft, according to Tankathon.
Zion's injury history is well documented. SportsCenter highlighted that with this stat
last night. Let's take a look. So Zion has missed 258 games in his career compared to
only 214 games that he's played. But these games shouldn't count against you. Yeah, yeah.
Because we know what it is. Yeah, for sure. So that brings me to my question. Can you
think the Pelicans are tanking or are you concerned about Zion's leg?
No, this is not real.
Yeah, it's a tank. You see what he was just playing?
This ain't real.
I think he's missed the last five games. This ain't real.
Okay. Trust me, I've been
hearing, I don't want,
this shit ain't real, dog.
Yeah, it happens.
Like, I've been hearing some other shit from other teams
with a few situations
this shit ain't real okay the other teams following a similar path yeah like
you got to make up shit now I've got to make up into you because you can't
because you don't want people to really start this fucking hamstring really shot
right maybe he did his weight now they got to come up with something different
man we know what this is. We know what this look.
Come on, man.
One thing we're not going to let you do on this couch is play with our intelligence.
We're not going to allow that, man.
Who we look like boo-boo the fool.
You know what I'm talking about?
But I think the NBA has been a little hard on teams tanking, not really rolling with it.
They're trying to avoid them fines.
Yeah.
Right? They're trying to avoid them fines, right?
They're trying to avoid that $100,000 that Utah just got a couple weeks ago with Keontae George's situation.
They're trying to avoid these fines.
Yeah, Thunder, I think, were under investigation recently, too,
for rest players.
Completely different thing, though.
But still.
They still won that game, and obviously you're dominating the West.
But still, they can sit somebody out, but other teams, come on, man.
They only won 21 games?
Yeah.
So what you think they doing?
They were my dark horse squad based on how they played last year.
I think they probably lost to DeJounte Murray.
He suffered a ton of injuries this season.
Zion been out for a long time.
Catch a break, that one.
Yeah, because heaven forbid you keep him going out there
and he hurt his fucking hands again for real.
He teared, and then now he's really a set. So this is...
Damn, but...
He gotta
keep him where he at, though, his body
wise, though. He's figuring it out.
Can't chat once you know they agree.
They're not falling for it either. Appreciate you.
And unfortunately, I think this...
I don't want to put this in atmosphere.
Willie Green's situation is
up in the air at best with what's transpired.
If they fired the dude that was in fourth.
Yeah.
Taylor James got the book.
It doesn't make sense the way they're firing coaches.
Is this his second?
No, he's longer than that.
But everybody down there, everybody else is trying to look out.
Let him get his gear out.
They fired the team that coached us in the playoffs.
Man.
So Willie Green, this is his fourth season with the Pelicans.
How many playoffs?
Made the playoffs twice, lost in the first round both seasons.
Sorry, Willie.
They got swept by the thunder.
Sorry, Willie.
There's nothing he can do. Nothing he the thunder. Sorry, Willie. There's nothing he can do though.
Nothing he can do.
Sorry, Willie.
Zion.
So you think he's out of there?
What?
I don't think so.
What?
They've had so much.
They lost in the first round every time they've been.
But they can't stay healthy.
So they're still not compi- I understand some of your best,
but the ones he got, he still got a shot at fucking a beat.
Like you're still not competitive.
Yeah. Yeah. You still gotta compete. It'll be after this season. So you need to restart. Yeah. I understand some of your best, but the ones you got, you still got to try to fucking beat.
You still got to compete.
You need to restart.
Get a fresh start next season.
Zion's healthy, which we hadn't said that in a long time.
Let them to 49 wins last year.
That was their most wins since 2018.
This year, I think, you know, getting to Jante,
there was a lot of hope and expectation,
but we know where hope works. Absolutely, you know, getting DeJounte, there was a lot of hope and expectation, but... Yeah.
We know where hope works at.
Absolutely, we know where hope works.
Do it depend on what pick they get, though?
What if they get, like, a three?
He ain't gonna be there that long, boy.
You think he gonna be there till June?
Maybe.
I don't wish nothing bad on the Blacks.
I'm looking at the situation at what it is.
But who could they get? I keep it going, but I'm just looking.
Who could they get, though?
I have no idea.
Baylor Jenkins is currently looking for a job.
He's going to get a job quickly.
Oh, it's a wrap already.
He already got a job.
Yeah.
Yeah, there you are.
You know where you're going.
Oh, for sure.
Yeah.
He has a job already.
Absolutely got a job already.
You about to go to Phoenix? Nah. Nah. Let me mind my business. sure. Yeah. He has a job already. Absolutely got a job already. He about to go to Phoenix.
Nah.
Yeah, nah.
He mind my business, man.
Utah.
Hey, you could join the NBA insider game.
Since Woj's departure, we need somebody to battle Shams.
But we asked to chat.
Maybe San Antonio.
Ooh.
That's good.
That's working.
Some reports that he could be the one to see pop as the Spurs coach.
So they're not going to let Tim ride that up?
Pause that Tim take over?
Tim who?
Tim Duncan.
Boy, everybody don't want to coach.
He didn't want to say nothing to his teammates when he was there.
You think he want to say something?
Ain't he coaching now though for him?
Is he?
What's he?
Consulting, bro. He talk when he want to.
He hangs out, yeah.
So just doing...
Speak when he's spoken to.
Let me get out of the house today.
We called to ask Tim a question.
Tim ain't in there bitch volunteering shit.
Speak when he's spoken to.
We asked the chat.
We said Zion's injury is A, real, or B, Pelicans tanking.
Kenyon, 87% of the chat agrees with you that the Pelicans are tanking right now.
Do you expect a league investigation over this?
How many games?
As long as they're doing it right.
When they got six games left.
When they got six games left?
Yeah.
Five, six games?
It's a waste of resources.
Yeah, I don't think they're going to matter now.
Right, but my thing is, heaven forbid, like, let this situation. They got six games you, for heaven's sake, let this situation...
They got six games,
seven games left.
Yeah, let this go.
Let it just go and play out, man.
They done in a week.
Yeah.
I've been in similar situations
from the Wizards,
the Lakers.
I remember when they tanked,
when we was tanking it,
they set us out.
When I was at the Wizards,
they set Gil and Karan
and them out.
Okay.
And then, when you know you ain't
got a chance and trying to get a higher pick you hey man you got to do what you got to do and do
you respect the organization for moving like that obviously we talk about players and all the money
they're making big teams trying to be competitive in this league, but you got talent like Cooper Flagg. If you have a plan moving forward, yes.
But if it's just like random, then no.
But in their situation, I understand them protecting Zion right now
and trying to move forward with that.
Him being as good.
See what he can do when he healthy, man.
He's a kid only 24, so he's still got a lot of basketball to play
if you get that side of it.
You know what I'm saying?
He plays hard.
He's explosive, man.
Injuries are going to happen.
Unfortunately, his has been at the beginning of his career.
And, yeah, we all miss time, man.
I didn't miss whole seasons.
Microfracture surgery, came back, played a lot of basketball after that.
Did I have to change the way I play?
Yeah, but still, it happens.
With that, do you trade C.J. after this season?
No, C.J. not the problem.
But he's a good asset.
You could trade for another pick.
He's somebody that can also average 18, 19, too.
Fuck me off the bench if I need him to or if he's still a starter.
But that's what I'm saying.
Somebody can use him.
We can use him.
The Pelicans can use him. C.J. got one I'm saying. Somebody could use him. We can use him. The Pelicans can use him.
So you got one year left on his deal.
We in New Orleans can use him.
Make a $31 million.
A team like, who could use him?
Orlando?
Yeah, he needs some shooting, but
I'm with you. Right now, he's with us
and until we can get somebody
that can do what he can do, we're going
to hold on to him.
Because we still got this phenom at this 24-year-old
over here that's...
So, let's talk a little bit about Zion.
Like you said, Zion is only 24 years old.
In the second year of his five-year,
$197 million extension he signed back in the summer of 2022.
Still owed over $126 million after this season.
Has weight and body fat clauses in the contract
that could potentially
reduce his salary in future seasons
if he fails to maintain them.
But by season's end, he will have played in 30
of a possible 82 games this year,
averaging 25.7 rebounds, career-high 5.3 assists,
57 23-66 shooting splits.
But here's the other side of it.
Zion played 30 or less games in four of his six seasons
in the league, including missing the entire 21-22 season.
So if you're the Pelicans' front office,
would you trust Zion enough to keep building around him,
or is it time to start picking up that phone?
You have to. You have to trust him.
Unless you finna just throw this shit in all together
and, like, really start over, then yeah.
For me it depends on what pick I get. If I could get another phenom...
Ain't no phenom like that. But I can't keep trying to build around somebody
that's not there. I understand three's today's game, but them 360
windmills... That's fine. Putting people in them 360 windmills, that's fine.
But putting people in them seats, man.
But it's only happened 20 games out there.
I mean, yeah, New Orleans, they're not planning to win a championship
or nothing anytime soon.
They're trying to make money at this point.
But when they brought in CJ, they was trying to help him out.
They brought in Jajonte Murray.
I think they wanted to be competitive,
but their goal is not championship.
Because if it was, I think they would have been
got rid of Zion.
They really wanted a championship that bad.
And is it almost too late now in Zion's case,
given his injury history, for another team to say,
look, we know this is damaged goods.
We're not coming off a ton of our assets.
I don't know that, man.
His numbers are crazy. So this is my thing, what I start to question, right?
It ain't the player, right?
It's the staff.
It's the medical staff.
It's the strength and conditioning staff, right?
Because other places we hear about guys get like Phoenix.
It's top notch.
Guy get hurt. That's why Grant Hill went there so their medical staff in Phoenix is
top-notch you go to other places top-notch New York top-notch like I've
experienced the next shit first hand so it's places that their medical staff and
strength and conditioning is of importance. It's true. For the Clippers, what we, right?
Even with the, like, so I was in a horseshit organization
with Denver.
Medical staff, strength and conditioning dude was great.
Steve Hess is the fucking best in the business.
But other people, his colleagues, fucking awful.
Yeah.
No, it's facts.
Dr. Trainor, just all of them, horrible.
Good job, Paulo.
So I've been a part of it.
I've been on the good side of it,
and I've seen the worst part of it,
where they just feed you anti-inflammatories,
put an ice and stem on you,
and give you a motherfucking shot in your ass of Tord
and tell you to go out and try to play.
But that, you can't stop somebody
from eating 12 cheeseburgers after they've eaten 12.
But it ain't got nothing.
I hear you.
I don't think, Don, we've heard no reports on eating 12.
I'm not.
He go get the whole menu.
Well, I ain't never heard nothing of that,
but I know that he's had injury problems
that he keeps having, right?
So ultimately, the kid plays a certain way.
He's built a certain way he's explosive he's
all these things so you've done nothing that we can see to help him yeah because he's only
playing for you he played for nobody else he's only playing for y'all so what have y'all done
to help him that's what i start the question yeah so now he's still a talent he's still 24
years old he's still all these things so if'm the owner, I'm changing the people around him.
I'm changing the medical staff.
I'm finding another main head, doctor.
Somebody got to answer to why this product that we picked number one
keep having this hamstring injury.
I'm going to have to pay some money because there ain't nothing in New Orleans.
So that's all I'm saying.
So it's that.
All right.
Hypothetically, say, do you give him one more year?
Say next year come, the same thing.
You got to get rid of him.
All right, I hear you.
Next year come, just hypothetically.
Next year come, he play 25 games, 30 games.
You can't keep.
I dig it.
I hear you.
So now we start, but right now, I'm not making that move.
I think you give him one more shot. Yeah, you give him one.
So to elaborate on my point, right,
about the medical staff that I was speaking of,
so my first micro fracture surgery,
I'm dealing with the team, right?
I played 56 games.
The next season, I played first two games,
and I had to miss the whole season,
falling what they told me to do.
Michael fractured on my right knee
when I had to miss the whole season,
the two games that I played.
I stopped listening to them
and started listening to Dr. Stedman and his PT.
Right?
Had I not listened to,
had I not cut the team out of my rehab and everything,
my career was over, dog.
So I had to go a different route,
start listening to somebody different.
Yeah, that's true.
Right?
I feel like that's way more than you should in pro sports.
But even from your side, Lexi, as an athlete,
what point do you know to do that, right?
You always, you know, you go see somebody,
you think they're an expert in their field
or they're with the team,
you're gonna take whatever they say at face value.
What point is it like,
I can't really fuck with y'all no more, I gotta go see?
I think it has to, something bad has to happen again,
unfortunately, or something just has to get worse.
They done missed 283 games.
Yeah.
Yeah, do the core, all right.
They done missed 283 games. Did they Now do the Kawhi, all right.
He done missed 283 games.
They haven't changed any of the medical staff in New Orleans?
I don't know, but shit, we got something.
Yeah, missed 258 games, played in 214 games.
For the bread that you're breaking, to have his services, like I said,
only played 30 or less games in four or six seasons in the league.
That's crazy.
Including missing an entire season dealing with injury.
Yeah, you got to do what's best for yourself sometimes.
You got to do the Kawhi, man.
What he did with San Antonio.
Rock his own people in.
But don't that make them mad at you?
They feel the way.
Oh, yeah, they get annoyed.
Yeah, they will.
But this is about me now, though.
So now y'all have done me an injustice.
Y'all ain't protected me, so now I got to protect me.
I got to start really working on me.
All they care about is you getting back on the court.
Yeah.
The end.
Everybody else got their guys.
Everybody else got their people now.
So we asked the chat, should the Pelicans keep building around Zion?
60% say no.
So you say from the Pelican standpoint,
hold on to Zion.
Obviously, you don't want to move him.
But from Zion's standpoint,
would a change of scenery be beneficial to his career?
And at what point do you hear Zion like,
look, man, there's too much culinary stuff going on.
Like, it's been a dark cloud over my career
since I've been in New Orleans.
Yeah, maybe he needs a change.
Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
If it's his choice, yeah.
You could get something good for him, for sure.
And there's teams out there I feel like will still have faith in him enough to...
So you think he would demand a trade?
He would have to, right?
He would have to come out and say,
man, his work tried to get him traded.
He should have listened to it.
His work did attempt. He should have listened to it. His work did attempt.
He was like, I'm going to trade you.
Y'all don't trade.
I'm going to release the tape.
Did try to sour his name.
Still young.
That was a crazy situation.
I ain't never heard of Work do that.
Let it.
Listen.
I'm going to call your employer.
All right.
Whoa, whoa, what?
Whoa, you going gonna do what?
The work did try to circumvent him going straight direct to the front office.
That was a nasty situation.
Hey, we gonna pay for this.
We gonna take this out of his check.
Hold on, man.
Did try to get his wage garnished.
Man.
We're not going through the proper channels.
That's a new day wage.
There's ways to do it, but you...
Yeah, there's new age, bro.
I'ma call your employer.
I'ma call your employer.
I'ma call your employer.
I'ma call your employer.
I'ma call your employer.
I'ma call your employer. I'ma call your employer. I'ma call your employer. I'ma call your employer. I'ma call your employer. without going through the proper channels.
There's ways to do it, but... There's new ways, man.
Direct.
Still up to her mission.
He slid in my DM.
I'm finna slide in theirs.
What's the owner's name?
Right?
May already be in the roller, but you never know.
Let's keep this thing moving.
We knew some discipline from the league would be coming after the fight between,
or you don't call it a fight.
It was a scuffle.
A scuffle.
A melee.
It was a scuffle.
Pistacuffs, if you will, between the pits and the timbers on Sunday.
Shams was first on the report with the announcement of the punishment
that's been handed down.
Let's take a look.
This is how you do it with no fight.
So, shout out to Underdog NBA.
Two games?
Isaiah Stewart got two get you got to
Dante DiVincenzo Ron Holland Nas Reed Marcus Sasser all get one game
Well, I mean he injected itself into it
He's okay. You're not here yesterday. You've been on a spring break with your family So we want to just show you the video so you get really a more accurate look, please
So let's pull up the video for reference if we can.
So here it is right here.
Holland tried to slap the ball to Nas Reed.
The finger in the face, too, I think is what.
You can't put your finger in another man's face.
Like what?
Who put the finger in his face?
Nas Reed.
That was Nas Reed.
Yeah, yeah.
Cameraman in the crowd.
Rudy, get your ass out of there, man.
Rudy. We ain't seen ass out of there, man. Rudy.
We ain't seen what somebody done did to you.
Why is he grabbing that?
Why is he?
But even the fan in the crowd, please stop.
Please don't hit him.
Come on.
Don't touch this white meat right here.
Leave this white man alone.
Man, please.
I still don't know why Isaiah got the most.
I think, I mean, it's just reputation.
We talked about it yesterday.
You want to know why?
Reputation.
Yeah, we talked about it yesterday.
But that's not fair.
Your reputation follows.
These two should have.
They should have got the most because they start.
So this is the way.
Here's the other angle of it again.
We see Isaiah Stewart's role in it.
Yeah.
Okay, but why didn't any, he's doing the same thing as everybody else.
He is.
He inserted himself in the middle.
All right, he did a little bit more.
He did a little bit more.
And you see the rest of the coaches trying to grab,
but they also know, like, hey, I don't want to.
Why do coaches get kicked out of the game?
Because I think Apollo Prigioni and J.B. Bickerstaff
were going at each other.
Man, he just pushed him again, though.
Yeah, Davidson still should get two also.
For sure.
If Isaiah gets two.
If I had the most, he should have got the most.
And as Isaiah Stewart let the crowd know.
Maybe that might have given him another one.
Detroit, F out of here, but he just let them know
the city that he's repping.
This is ghetto.
So y'all already said you don't think the league
got the suspensions right, right?
Isaiah Stewart probably didn't deserve,
or unless other people got that equal punishment.
Yeah. Yeah.
Dude, that's how you know it wasn't a fight.
Why?
Two games. Oh.
Even though if this was, trust me,
I hate to keep bringing the man up,
if this was David Stern's NBA, that would've been a lot more.
You went into the stands and fans was affected.
Yeah. So you would've paid for that one for damn sure.
Damn.
But yeah, absolutely. Well look out when JR and Melo and them, when we was in the
garden. Yeah, what they got? 25-15.
Damn, they did 25?
Hold this. Yeah. Punches was thrown. That's all I'm saying.
That wasn't no fight.
Like, what the hell?
What the hell y'all got going on?
I didn't have to spend it for a fight.
Who did you fight, Swaggy?
I slapped the shit out of somebody.
If y'all remember, it was against Phoenix.
It was the next Nash they brung in.
I forgot his name. I can't think of his name.
You smacked him? Yeah, slapped the shit out of him. It was the next Nash they brung in. I forgot his name. I can't think of his name.
Smacked him?
Yeah, slapped the shit out of him.
I just did the... You hit him with the...
I hit him with the...
The Eddie Howells and all.
Drogic?
Yeah, Drogic.
I had my dog out.
Oh, yeah, he slapped.
Yeah.
Because the Twins was pushing me,
so I wasn't going to hit the Twins
because it was two of them, and Drogic was the only one there, so I wasn't going to hit the twins because it was two of them.
And Drock is the only one there, so I just slapped him just because I didn't want to look like I was getting punked.
Oh, yeah, I'm watching the play right now.
Yeah, show the clip.
Oh, yeah, let's see it.
Who filed you the clip?
We will hunt down this jerk.
I jacked him up, too.
I was trying to get to the dude that fouled me.
I was picking up my ground by his jersey.
You got kicked out of the game? Yeah, my team didn't help me. I was by to get to the dude that found me. I was picking up off-ground by his jersey. You got kicked out of the game?
Yeah, my team didn't help me.
I was by myself getting jumped.
Yeah, I'm...
You getting jumped. Chris came in
just sitting on the bench,
meditating with the towel over his shoulders.
Elo was looking at you.
Oh, that's Zachary. Excuse me.
Mm-mm. Sorry.
SD. SD left.
Well, that was them days
if you step on that floor, boy.
Oh, yeah.
Hey, you crossed that line. Suspended. Huh? I feel boy. Oh, yeah. Hey you crossed that line
Suspended, huh? I feel bad. Oh, let it be going on
You can just step on that you can
Call Scott damn Phoenix the playoffs
But we went out there to see what was going on. That was crazy two games That's why you see the assistant coach and now that shit going on
Mari didn't do nothing to do shit just stepped on the more for ya
So zoom being on his ass up cross the line was it a game seven or whatever it was
Yeah, yeah, oh no you remember with um Was it a game seven or whatever it was? It cost him playoffs. Damn, the playoffs is crazy. Yeah.
Oh, no, you remember with Robin Ory,
goddamn body check Steve Nash on the sideline?
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Took him the fuck out.
Oh, yeah.
That shit was... That was crazy.
Fucked him.
Everybody was mad about that, though.
Yeah, they suspended them boys for just stepping on the floor.
That's petty. That's petty.
That's petty.
Hey.
So, Kenyon, as our resident fight expert,
while we wait for Swaggy's video...
To upload.
...to get uploaded,
who was at fault for this fight in the first place,
in your opinion?
Like, I saw a clip that it was going on, like, back and forth.
I think Beef Stewart got attacked right prior to that,
for pushing DiVincenzo.
They were going back and forth. He got ready to it got attacked right prior to that for pushing DiVincenzo.
They were going back and forth.
He got ready to shoot.
He getting ready to shoot, and Dante like, fuck no.
Yeah, repeatedly.
Very audible.
He got the rebound.
He got it again.
He tried to say, fuck no, again.
So it was building up. I didn't know that.
See, I didn't know that.
Yeah, it was building up.
But like I said, I don't consider this a fight.
Like I said, it's more of a scuffle.
Like Lexi said, it's WWE at its finest.
So you want them to just throw hands?
If we're going to do it, let's do it, man.
What we playing for?
Damn.
You trying to drop somebody on that?
Yes, absolutely.
When was the last time someone actually put somebody in a thing?
In the games?
It was probably the Lakers-Houston when we was talking about it.
There's been a few.
Since then?
Yeah.
There's been a couple.
All that grabbing and shit, though.
That shit weird to me.
So you just want to throw hands.
What are we grabbing each other for?
They're wrestling.
Nobody.
I feel like nobody really wants to.
If we going to do that,
let's just go our separate ways.
What are we grabbing another for
and doing all that shit
to fall in the stands,
stop the game for what?
To get suspended for two games?
Come on, man.
That's crazy.
But.
It's like to get suspended for one game for like, come on, man. That's crazy. But... It's like, you get suspended for one game for...
Like, come on, man.
Gotta let some people know.
Let's not even do that.
Let's not even get...
What is the one game for?
What is it for?
You're not proving any points.
Ain't nobody scared of nobody.
Nobody did shit to make anybody think anything further
than what happened.
Right?
You got two games, one game, one game.
Just lost money.
That's all you fucking did.
For no reason.
For no reason.
We're going to do it.
Let's do it.
Or let's not do it at all.
And in this case, let's not do it at all.
Because y'all just fell over to the stands,
hurt the cameraman.
He probably going to sue one of you.
Because I'm playing dead.
So, you know...
I need everything.
So now, one of the fans probably had to limp out there.
All that for nothing.
That's all I'm saying.
Let's do it or not do it.
But sometimes you test somebody's temperature,
push them, let them know you ain't. And that's what leads to it do it. But sometimes you test somebody's temperature, push them, no you ain't.
And that's what leads to it, though.
You ain't gonna just let somebody
keep messing with you and you just gonna be like...
This is wrestling. This is...
But I know you done pushed
somebody like...
I have a suggestion. How about y'all
play basketball that hard?
How about y'all give a fuck and keep it 90?
How about y'all compete every possession
like that?
Let's try that.
But when somebody start doing it, now the mother
be like, he found me hard. Like, come
like, no. Okay, I got you.
That's how, let's put that energy into this.
Because you ain't doing nothing to nobody.
And none of y'all are gonna go kill
nothing or watch nothing die.
So you ain't never, like, pushed nobody?
You just got straight to it?
You ain't never letting nobody know, like,
all right, now, you keep touching me.
My push, I'm gonna grab you by your face.
See what I mean?
Well, that, I don't feel like it's a push.
That's not a push. I'm gonna mush you.
He said rip they tongue out.
I'm gonna grab you by your face.
I'm gonna mush you, man.
Something ain't right up there, man.
If we getting into it, dog.
What am I trying to be your friend for and nice to you for if we getting into it?
That's my thing.
Like, we getting into it.
If it's to that point.
Yeah.
If we've gotten our testosterone up to this level that we feel we need to tussle.
I'm not trying to think about what
your fucking friend
or something nice to say or do
in this moment. Don't grab
me. We finna get to it.
But that's gonna lead to outside though.
That's gonna lead to... What's outside?
Because everybody can't take getting
two-piece now. Well, don't start it then.
Walk off.
What are we wrestling for?
Two-piece somebody, they can't get you back.
They don't get you back.
What are we wrestling for?
No, you had the same opportunity I had, you had.
You just chose to keep your hands down here talking.
Talking about what you're going to do.
That's all.
Because you say the wrong thing
out your mouth to some people.
I grew up watching it, man.
The bitch word where I'm from
gets you punched.
I've seen it on the basketball court.
Playing 25.
Y'all play 21.
We play 25.
Playing pickup, 25. Throw up football. Instead of 21, we go to 25. It's hard, bro. You know what I mean? You know what I mean? You know what I mean? You know what I mean? You know what I mean?
You know what I mean?
You know what I mean?
You know what I mean?
You know what I mean?
You know what I mean?
You know what I mean?
You know what I mean?
You know what I mean?
You know what I mean?
You know what I mean?
You know what I mean?
You know what I mean?
You know what I mean?
You know what I mean?
You know what I mean?
You know what I mean?
You know what I mean?
You know what I mean?
You know what I mean?
You know what I mean? You know what I mean? You know what I mean? You know about what y'all fucking doing out here? Who made that up? Like, what made y'all say, you know what,
we ain't going to do 21?
I grew up in it, Nick.
We're going to go to 25.
When I picked up a basketball at 10 years old,
I was playing 25.
So maybe you should go do a search.
I have never heard anybody play 25 before.
Because you grew up playing 25.
When you saw somebody say, let's play 21,
did you have an idea what they were talking about?
No.
Yes, I did.
OK.
But did you make them play the 25?
I didn't question.
No.
That's the way they played. Did you choke them? Wait, but you't make them play the 25? I didn't question. No, that's the way they played.
Did you choke them?
Wait, but you said you had to go back to 19 from when?
If you gain point, like you free throw, you get five or something,
you got 20, then you got to go back.
24 to 19?
19.
You go back to 16 or is it 15?
I'm not sure.
But the point I'm making, like just anything where I'm from,
it leads to that, right? I ain't saying. Like, just anything where I'm from, I didn't, like, it leads to that.
Right?
I ain't saying I invented starting a fight with dudes calling dudes out their name.
It happens.
Yeah, yeah.
The B word get a reaction.
Yeah.
And these, but this, Dan, like, why are we doing all of this?
We're disrupting the game.
We ain't go.
Technical files, coaches getting into into it all this over nothing
And we talked about this yesterday on the show, but now with the fighting it's a business decision right now If you get suspended a couple games that hundreds of thousands
Should the league put something in place Joe Mazzola back in October said he'd like to see the league bring fighting back
No for the entertainment purposes of it. If you know I'm for
See the dear say They think about it entertainment purposes of it. No, if you, no. I'm for, see, the deal, so,
they think about it.
They think about the suspension.
They think about it. I don't think nobody think,
I don't know how Gil said that.
Who thinks about that?
See, me,
when I said,
I'd rather,
I'm going to deal with that, man.
Yeah.
Like, the one season,
I lost 370 one season.
Goddamn.
Cool!
Cool!
Yeah.
$370,000?
Yes!
$370,000?
Yes!
Okay, now I'm gonna tell you a true story.
I lost $50 at a wiener snitch when I was 14 years old, and I still think about that.
What?
And guess what?
It fell out of my pocket.
Birthday money fell out of my pocket.
And guess what?
$370,000?
And guess what? $5070? And guess what?
$50.
$50?
At the one on La Brea, right there.
It's lost on La Brea. Man.
I used to feel like it was a blessing
finding money like that.
I'm going to stand on, like I said,
I ain't never been locked up.
I ain't never been to jail.
I ain't never been in no gang.
I ain't never claimed to be tough.
Like, people always claim I claim to be tough. I ain't never claimed to be tough. Like, people always claim I claim to be tough.
I ain't never claimed to be tough.
But I drew a line in the sand a long time ago, man.
I stand on something.
And I stand for something.
You don't stand for something, you fall for anything.
I'm not going to do it.
I haven't.
I'm not turning no cheeks.
I'm not doing like, no.
I came into the NBA that way
and I left out that way.
Do you think because of that, like,
do you think, would you have been like
Isaiah getting two games?
No, my shit was worse.
I'm not wrestling, Nick.
I know, but I'm saying, like,
because of that, people gave you,
they gave you texts more and suspended you more.
They didn't try me because they knew what, Nick, after that season, that 370, I had no other fights in the game.
That's what I'm telling you.
Because everyone was scared of you?
No, they just knew what it was going to lead to.
They knew they had to fight.
No, they had to fight.
I don't want you to be scared of me.
Please don't.
I don't want nobody to be scared of me because you're scared you'll run.
I want you to stand there and take it.
This motherfucker crazy.
I'll walk away.
I might get into a fight this summer.
This is grown man shit.
I want to be able to contribute
to this conversation.
I grew up in a certain
environment.
I grew up in a certain environment.
I'm running. I want you to run. Right? I grew up in a certain environment. That's me. I'm running.
I got help.
I'm running away.
Fighting for stuttering, fighting for not having much, fighting for all kinds of shit
as a kid, right?
Getting picked on because I stutter.
You had to fight.
Me not wanting to participate in class.
Kids teasing me, this, that.
Going to the rec center, niggas fucking with me.
After a certain age, anything you did led to a fight.
Yeah, we had to fight, yeah.
That's just what it was.
I drew a line in the sand.
I took that to college.
I left with that.
I took that to the NBA, and I left with that.
That's true, though.
I know what you're talking about.
I'm a 47-year-old grown-ass man.
I don't bother nobody.
But I stand on something., I don't bother nobody.
But I stand on something.
These dudes don't know.
They think about the consequences.
When I was playing, I didn't think about the consequences when it came to it.
If we're going to do it, we're not going to talk about it.
We don't grab me.
Assistant coach grabbed me one time, we got into a leg, I damn listen, do not fucking grab
me when we get into it. Because if one of them
niggas punch me while you
grabbing me, I'm going to beat the
shit out you when this is done.
You got me
hit, dog. No.
You got me punched. We're getting
into it and the assistant coach come up behind me and grab
me and you hit me, Nick. Oh
Lord, dog. I'm going to be li livid so this is what i like no this is so this shit let's not do it
or we gonna do it yeah but in these dudes situations like they think about the consequences
when i played for them 15 years i didn't think about the consequences during the game
okay now it's a 47 year old man that's gotten to look back at your life.
Do you wish you thought about the consequences?
No.
No regrets?
No, bro.
You want to know?
Just want to know.
Absolutely not, man.
Because then it's not, I still, like I said, I went in the NBA being me.
So, no, I wouldn't have been being like, I'm not going to,
I understand what people are thinking.
It might be absolutely, but never faked it.
Wasn't going to fake it.
Going to show up authentic and be me through every situation.
Could have played certain games within the NBA better.
Absolutely.
But just not, wasn't who I was, right?
Yeah, you scared a lot of people, man.
Well, what, hey, if they was scared,
that was on them, bruh.
I know.
Like I said, hey, and I said, if you scared,
get a dog, call the police, man.
You scared of David Stern?
Hold on, I'm getting some,
something right now. He was like,
you know what, I'm not getting him.
You scared, get a dog and call the police.
That ain't my concern.
No, he can play defense.
He's scared of me.
You know what?
But he's too goddamn gangster.
I ain't going to give him no awards.
You know?
That's fine.
I'm going to fuck him with him.
That's because he be punking people.
You got to stop punking people.
You got to stop saying shit with aggression all the time.
I'm a man.
I'm going to fuck a nigga up now.
No, I don't bother nobody.
I don't want to see me with my kids.
The sand is drawn.
See where I just came from, dog?
I do everything. Listen, bro. I rip his a nigga. You see me with my kids. The sand is drunk. You see where I just came from, dog? I do everything.
Listen, bro.
I rip his tongue out and wipe my balls up.
Wipe my balls with them shits.
See, he's just taking it to the bar every time.
You took it to another level.
But, Lexi, I just got word from our producer.
They said if you get into a situation this year in the WNBA,
you have to throw hands.
Underdog will pay the fine.
We just want to see you do it.
All right, cool. Thank you.
And Swaggy, you talked about the fight.
I'm going to do it here in L.A.
We will be at the Spartans now, you already know.
Thor's Spartans already circled on the calendar.
But Swaggy, you talked about how you got into a little
fist of cuffs with Dragic and the Suns. We have been
able to locate that video. Please bear with us.
This is a super, super standard
definition. It's going to be hard to make out faces
and figure out who is what, but let's
take a look at that video. Disclaimer.
So, it was actually, I believe, Alex
Lin that fouled you. I was trying to get to him.
Alex Lin fouled you. You pushed him. Oh, there we go.
The twins right there.
Oh.
So, my favorite
part about this, as you said,
both the twins squaring your face, you
circle around them to get to Dougie.
I was trying to get to Johnny.
I was trying to get to Alex.
That's why I'm locked in.
And he was the last person I was like, move.
You saw white.
But Alex Lynn, hard fact, kind of hits you in your face.
Little extra right away.
The head nod lets him know it's real, but they're more as twins.
Oh, no.
Who the fuck is number four?
Move around them.
Who? Who is number four in your team? A duke. A as twins. Oh no now before move around there who who is number four you a Duke
Dookie
What Look at him. He still won't. But look at him. Your team made some ho-ass moves. I got mad. I said something.
They hated you.
Oh, I would've threatened all of them
because they're in the locker room.
Talk it out, Bucko.
Oh, damn.
Yeah, I got suspended.
For how many games?
Just one game.
So we asked the chat in terms of the Pistons-Wolves
suspensions that were handed down.
54% of the chat thinks the suspensions were fair.
46% says they were unfair.
There's a lot of fighters in this chat.
Damn, K, 370, though.
370.
You want to see a fight, go look at Rudy.
No, not me.
Go look at motherfucking Rudy Tubjanovic
and goddamn Kermit Washington.
Now, you want to see a fight?
Yes.
The chat, go look up Rudy Tubjanovic
and goddamn Kermit Washington,
and you want to see a goddamn punch?
I think Kermit was Golden Gloves boxer growing up. Kermit changed goddamn history.
Kermit was, yeah, yeah.
Hey.
It's tough because every time you see Rudy,
you know you get punched when a punch turns you into a coach.
I don't think Rudy T ever played again.
But that messed up Kermit, though.
Kermit, he wasn't the same.
No, he definitely wasn't the same.
He wasn't the same.
He definitely wasn't.
That's what I'm saying.
He did to that man's face.
No, they blackballed him, for sure.
For punching somebody?
For punching white men.
He broke his face.
And broke his face.
Had he punched somebody else, he probably wouldn't have been as bad.
Damn.
He punched a white man and fucked his whole shit up.
If you break somebody's face, you definitely getting black.
You running up on the fight?
Yeah, you want to...
Daya!
Running full speed into the punch.
Hey, man.
He was jogging.
No.
Had he been running full speed?
But you running into the punch.
He ran into it.
He ran into a punch?
But you running into the punch.
He ran into it.
And he saw him coming.
Like, he had time.
He timed his ass up.
Damn.
Kermit had been lifting weights and shit.
Listen, man.
It was like Deebo and Red in real life.
Yeah.
Was he running to Kermit,
or he was running to try to help?
Whatever he was doing, he felt threatened.
Yeah, he was...
See, this is what I mean. Kermit felt threatened.
Oh, so you run up on the wrong person,
you gonna get punched in the face.
Absolutely. My point's always...
Which is not happening.
Point I'll always be making.
Which is not happening right now. That's the point I've been making forever. I hope that don't get punch in the face. Absolutely. My point is I have point. I'll always be making it's just not happening right now
That's the point. I've been making
Chat do yourself a favor
After you watch this show
Utilize your tool got multiple devices both of them ain't doing this,
which they should be...
trust me.
So, as a reminder, Beef Stew suspended two games.
Dante DiVincenzo, Ron Holland, Nas Reed, Marcus Sassler
all suspended one game for that.
Pistons, Wolves, Brawl.
But let's keep this...
Dante should have been two, though.
Dante should have been two.
Yeah, sure.
Because they the ones who instigated it.
Mm-hmm.
They should have got the most.
I'm pretty sure.
Or just give them all one.
Like, why are you giving him one?
Because it's reputation.
I know, but why?
But that's because he tried to check Gil.
That's why.
Because you'll, hey, it's so weird.
If you keep going to jail, they ain't
going to keep giving you the same time.
You're a repeat offender.
Listen, I was a repeat offender i was i was a i was a re i was a repeat offender trust me
the second was worse than that the third with the trade hey the fines went up that kicked out of the
game he could probably fight that for sure though 35 000. for clapping he could use of a game official
he could fight that i think you know you know... He should try. He could fight that. Just off the strength of...
He didn't even start the fight,
and they got left behind him.

We coming into work.

Praise Jesus.
It'll be late.
420 show sponsored by Vaya.
Oh, that's a tough day.
Let's shift over to college.
You know, obviously, Swag, we talked about
unfortunate situation.
We had a bet that we made Instagram official
if UCLA advanced further than USC.
Oh, that was for men and women?
No, just for women.
Just for women.
His men's team is Travis and Elijah.
Oh, damn.
Okay.
Y'all got knocked out.
Paige back with UConn.
I was like, you gotta wear UCLA shit tomorrow.
So now we gotta ref for LA and beat UConn in the Final Four.
But we're gonna get to that later.
But when it comes to NCAA tournament this year,
it's the women who have the biggest star power.
Yeah.
Lex, you already knew that.
Yep.
So, wrong one, Paolo.
Let's go back to the graphic from boardroom.
We're gonna talk about Olivia Miles.
That is crazy.
In just a moment.
That's us.
In just a moment.
That's crazy. In just a moment. That's us. In just a moment. That's crazy.
So the boardroom IG page put up a graphic of the most
followed NCAA hoopers in the tournament.
Yes, girls.
Top four are all women's hoopers.
Yes, girls.
Paige Beckers leads the way with 2.1 million followers.
Flage, who got her team eliminated by UCLA,
just to point out, just in case you guys didn't watch that game.
2 million Instagram subscribers.
Haley Van Lint at 1.2.
Juju Watkins.
Juju what?
1.1.
Send our love and prayers to Juju.
No, why?
And likely number one overall pick,
Cooper Flagg in fifth with one million followers.
That's all you got?
So, Lexi, what does this say about the state of men's
and women's college hoops?
Um, well, I think everyone says it all the time.
There's just...
There's no storytelling, there's no storylines,
and there's no relationships built
in men's college basketball anymore.
No more, for sure.
So, I think it's just as simple as that.
Also, I think women are just...
They're better at social media, I think,
as well as taking pictures and doing stuff like that,
interacting and engagement.
There's a bunch of fucking creeps out here.
That too.
There's a lot of thugs.
That's a conversation for another day.
But, yeah.
But, yeah, I think that's the benefit of women staying in college.
As long as they do, they're able to build their platforms and brands.
Well, now, how they want.
It wasn't always like that.
So seeing the girls in the four of the top five is really fire.
Because I remember them coming up from high school
and just seeing them all grow and build all very differently.
And they're all very unique.
I think this is fire.
Lex, to your point that women hoopers know how to use social media
better than men. After the show yesterday,
you had the phone stuck to
the glass back there making videos,
doing TikToks, getting to work.
I had no idea what was going on. Sorry for
making you have to do another take.
I love the TikTok.
Even for us, we all
grew up watching March Madness.
I remember how much of an impact it used to have on my life,
watching games, doing that stuff.
I used to look forward to it.
I still think about Mike Bibby and Arizona Squad
beating Kentucky in the natty game,
him rocking the phone posits,
but it just, it don't feel like that.
It's not hitting the same.
This dude was on this team last year.
He's been in three schools since whatever.
I know it happens both on the men's and women's side,
but do you even watch the tournament like that anymore on the men's side?
Not really, unless it's like when I watched Cooper Flagg,
you know, just because of the star power.
But, yeah, it lost its mojo, I feel like.
Oh, there's too many one-and-dones.
I don't really know where people at.
You know, one day they're playing on this team,
next thing you know they're playing for another team.
And I don't know, it's just I got that.
You don't hear the diaper dandy, and my man ain't out there.
It's just...
Shout out to Keevy.
It's lost its oomph.
Yeah, it's got to get back, you know.
I think probably the last time I felt good about martial madness, probably was when Zion
was playing.
Yeah.
And then, Kenyon, to your side, you see the graphic with the state of the Instagram
following and who are the most following NCAA hoopers.
What does that say about the state of men's and women's college basketball?
Also last year, women's tournament.
Smacked the men's tournament viewership.
Just focus on the growth of the women's game.
There's more little girls that look like Paige
and that have their parents and created Instagram accounts for them
and they follow them and different things like that
that dream to be them one day, you know?
So it's dope, man, just to see where it's going,
to have Juju in there as well,
giving hope to little brown girls everywhere
to strive to be something like this.
It's great.
Yeah, no, just because it's like I've always said,
like the women players have always been more skilled than the men players
because they have to be.
And it's just now that people are starting to pay attention to it more
and they're starting to see it.
So, no, it's dope.
It's really dope, man, to see it.
And to your point about the men's side,
it's the conversation I had, somebody was like,
and you don't see Cinderella teams
like this year or last year.
I said, because every Cinderella school,
they big player, they best player,
transferred to the team that's in Elite Eight.
Yep.
So you're not going to see any more Cinderella schools.
Hate to bust y'all bubble with this.
Mid-majors are like the new Jucos. The mid-majors are like the Juco's. Them days, the mid-majors are like
Juco's right now.
They're not making
this Elite Eight,
Sweet Six.
It's just not going to happen.
It feels like, you know,
going to a mid-major now
is punishment.
It is.
Where back in the day,
hey, you might not have got
recruited by the major conferences,
major schools,
but you can go to a mid-major.
You kind of still have a similar,
they might have more gear
or more resources than you,
but you're all on kind of
a level playing field where now coaches hitting that portal, they're looking,
here's a check for you.
Man.
It's not even close.
It's making it hard on the freshmen and incoming freshmen, things like that, because they have
to wait.
Like, it's crazy that they literally, I'm saying, they got to wait unless you come in
with that, the Dylan Harpers, the Cooper Flay, unless you come in with that, you gotta, like, there's no,
there's nobody checking for you, really,
which is unfortunate for the men's side of it.
And, right?
Or they're gonna end up at the smaller schools first,
and then they're gonna have to...
And you got these kids that's,
I'm gonna cut you off later,
like, these guys are 25, 26 years old.
Holy shit.
24, 25, 26 years old
playing college basketball.
This is a dude playing.
Just as old as Luka.
You can't be the same age as Luka still in there.
Older than Zion.
I'm looking at him.
I'm like, look at this grown-ass man.
Who the kid played for the other day
that fell on his arm and he thought he was on?
Aubrey kid.
How old is he?
Shit, the nigga at least 30.
You look 30. you look 30.
Nigga, you look 30.
Tell me you came out the womb, my boy.
They're old as shit.
Shit, nigga, you at least 30.
Nigga, you at least 30.
And now, yeah, and the new thing that they trying to do with the JUCO.
Yeah, like the eligibility.
That's going to mess everything up.
Right, you can play, go to JUCO, go to college, play, get a medical,
play, get another medical problem, play two more.
Now you're 26 years old, man.
And they're going to finesse it now because you make so much money in college now.
So they're just going to try and finesse it.
It's a shit show.
The women, they got a lot of those Jimmy Fredettes
and Steph Curry stories.
Jimmy Fredette.
But when Jimmy was playing, everybody wanted to see him
and shoot all them crazy shots.
I don't think on the men's side,
we ain't had one of those in a while.
Because people don't stick with Lexi's point.
Because people are asking about like...
One year here, one year there, one year there.
When I was in college, you got to think about the guys that were also in college when we was there.
Like, Trae Young was in college when I was in college.
All the Duke players, the guys at UNC, when they were really good.
Like, there were superstars everywhere.
And it was a bunch of them on a bunch of different teams.
Now it's like, you got one here, you got one here.
And then for one year, they all team up and maybe get to the final four,
and then it's over in the end.
And they stand for three years, two, three years then.
Yeah.
But people are like, we all didn't get the viewership.
I said, look at who was playing on the men's side.
Like, it was like, it was just different.
And it's frowned upon to stay like three years.
You don't really, the NBA don't really
look at them type of guys in the first round that much you know back then you
know somebody that was a junior senior could go like top five or number one yeah
don't start ain't got no choice start drafting guys 22 23 ain't got no choice
like it's just becoming like a trickle-down effect.
Because dudes that stand in college,
everybody can't keep drafting everybody 19, bro.
No.
Yeah, the league is going to look disgusting if you do that.
Yeah, you just can't.
You got a bunch of 19-year-olds.
Yeah, that's what's going on.
Hey, yeah.
You might as well start letting them come out of high school
if you're going to continue to do that.
Exactly.
Okay, I just want to talk about one thing you said.
Parents creating Instagram accounts for their kids.
I see this a lot nowadays.
Parents, I got to chill with talking,
trying to talk in the voice of your child.
Oh, yeah.
In elaborate-ass words.
Like, we know it's you going at other kid pages,
but it's just the parents going at each other.
Kids have no idea what's going on.
That's crazy.
I mean, I see this all the time,
and they be going just hard on each other, and it's like...
I know you do, because you be coaching this thing.
Yeah, I'm just...
Oh, yeah, like, what is...
Yeah, what is the state of, like, youth sports?
Like, little kids. My kids are 6 and 8.
Talk about being on Instagram.
Too much. I'm on Instagram.
That don't go on IG.
I'm just like, y'all got to chill out, man.
It's too real.
It's more... So, my kids, yes.
So, my youngest two,
we went over to a new program.
And I'm just sitting there, I look at shit,
and by the way, I'm just, I'm thinking to myself, like,
there's like $100,000 worth of motherfucking shoes
in this bitch right now.
Right?
The new KDs, the new Hooks, the new Jaws,
the new this, the Jordan this, the one...
I'm like...
Fuck, kids don't know how to fucking dribble.
Ha ha!
You got new shoes over here.
Like, exclusives, though.
There's two little girls walk in. I'm like,
damn, when them come out?
Some of them old KDs with the strap on them.
What? I'm like, yeah, they walk both of them.
So I'm like, when them come out? Like, those are not the Hoopie. No, no, I'm like, damn, when them come out? Some old KDs with the strap on them. What? I'm like, yeah, they walk both of them. So I'm like, when them come out?
Like, those are not the hooping.
No, no, I'm like, damn.
Those are coming out, motherfucker.
Not anymore.
You leave them in a box and think about wearing them.
Like, you don't even wear them.
Shooting the layup over the basket.
It'd be crazy.
That motherfucker.
It'd be crazy.
They look good.
Yeah, absolutely.
You know what I'm saying?
Yeah.
My daughter think I'm nuts.
Trust me.
Mean.
No, that ain't no, we ain't doing that, man.
I can get some cool shoes.
I can get some, you want some shoes?
Warming hoops.
We get them Sabrina's.
We get them.
Fucking shoes.
But we ain't finna go buy no, no.
We're going to Dick's on the wall.
Right? Pick one. Pick. On the wall, right?
Dick one.
Dick one on the wall.
Right?
Dick's on the wall.
Nah, but Dick's pretty good.
Dick's pretty good.
They be having good shoes.
I'm gonna say Dick's got good, they got good Dick's.
So you like Dick's?
Yes.
Yes.
Do I like Dick's?
You just, since you opened the door, you like to...
Since you opened the door, step in it.
You like dicks.
Take a bite of shit.
You're not going to get me like he's going to get you.
You got killed bad.
You got killed bad.
That was an enjoyable time.
That was probably one of the highlights of my time on this show.
Yeah, that was a really good one.
But let's talk a little bit more about the conversation between men's and women's college
hoopers.
Yes, please.
Are fans able to invest more in women's college hoop. Yes, please.
Are fans able to invest more in women's college hoopers
because there's no one-and-done rule?
Like, you know you got to stay for four,
sometimes five, as we'll talk about in a moment.
But you get somebody like a Paige Beckers who now...
And even with her, like, she missed a lot of time,
and she was still able to keep her momentum,
her fan base, which is impressive.
That's not easy to do, especially mentally. You're trying to get back, but you're still trying to build a momentum, her fan base, which is impressive. That's not easy to do, especially mentally.
You're trying to get back,
but you're still trying to build a brand at the same time,
and she's been able to do it.
Or Haley Van Lith who started at Louisville,
goes to LSU, goes to TCU.
I was finna make the point.
What?
She stayed her ass.
At one place.
You know what I'm saying?
Stayed her ass there.
She came in with that hype, right?
They love me here.
Yeah.
I got a following here.
This man believe...
We're going...
But she had a goal in mind.
She was a pro when she got to the league.
Yes.
A lot of these girls probably don't even have
WNBA aspirations for real.
So they're going to maximize their time in college,
which makes me nervous because then it's going to turn
into what we're dealing with with the men. People just bouncing around from school to school to school to school. maximize their time in college, which makes me nervous because then it's gonna turn into
what we deal with the men.
Just people just bouncing around from school to school to school to school.
Well, I don't know, because in y'all, in women's sports, you know your stars, like
y'all stars stand out.
Like when you the best woman player, you stand out, I feel like.
When like somebody like y'all playing amongst, like the stars stand out in women's, college women's sports, I feel like. When somebody like y'all playing amongst, like the stars stand out in women's,
college women's sports, I feel like.
Well, I mean, we about to talk about it now.
Like, we've never seen what just happened, happen.
And then another girl who led the nation in scoring
at Florida State, she leaving.
Oh yeah, I know.
So like, we ain't never seen,
she had one more year at Florida State,
she was gonna go down as one of the best players to play at Florida State ever.
And she did.
She still is probably gonna go down, isn't she?
Yeah, but, like, they probably gonna be like,
Girl, bye.
Well, Lexi, segue, Lexi, as you will now be known.
So, while we're talking about the NCAA tournament,
we gotta talk about some shocking news that came down yesterday,
according to Sean.
So, Notre Dame, Bolivia, Miles.
When did Sean start getting these women's basketball?
Shams got everything.
He's the only plug now.
I'm like, Shams, damn.
He got the Greek Connect.
He done cut everybody else.
They're pricing the brick going up.
But Notre Dame's Olivia Miles,
projected number two pick in the WNBA draft,
will forego the draft, enter the NCAA's transfer portal.
22-year-old top prospect makes unprecedented decision
to use her one year remaining of college instead of the draft.
So after a run of the Sweet 16 and the expectation of being selected,
second overall after Paige Beckers,
who right now is, I think, a lot of people's census number one pick
in the WNBA draft.
Yeah.
Extremely unexpected turn of events for Olivia Miles.
So what's your take on this whole Olivia Miles situation,
her deciding to hit the transfer portal?
Someone threw her a bag.
She's going to make a lot of money.
So why not? I would probably
do the same thing. So, if you were in her position...
Especially right now with our CBA
negotiations, it wouldn't actually make
sense for her to come out. Yeah.
Because she
actually will lose money
if she is getting paid whatever amount
she's getting paid. She comes out in the
draft, is stuck in the old CBA rookie deal,
she's losing.
Which is what, a four-year deal?
Yeah.
So now if you wait for this next year...
If you wait, you're literally going to lose money.
New collector bargain.
For the first time, that is actually true,
that going to the WU will lose money.
Well, shit.
Hey, there you have it.
All right.
Duh.
The math.
And the math wasn't mathing. No. And... Which is, yeah, when that news came out, I, hey, there you have it. All right. The math. And the math wasn't mathing.
No.
And...
Which is, yeah, when that news came out, I was shocked, but I still was like,
I shouldn't have really been shocked.
I was shocked about her leaving Notre Dame.
I wasn't shocked about her staying in college.
She probably didn't fulfill them, um...
Yeah.
Educational obligations.
Right? Yeah, because I wonder if she's gonna be a grad transfer, too. educational obligations, right?
I wonder if she's going to be a grad transfer, too.
I mean, I hope she got a degree from Notre Dame.
It's a great school.
Now it's just about basketball for her.
She did really good over here.
It's going to be fire for her.
So I hope she can graduate and just go home.
For those on the women's side,
Notre Dame traditionally breaks bags,
takes care of their players. So you said you were more surprised that she's side, Notre Dame traditionally breaks bags, takes care of their players.
So you said you were more surprised
that she's dipping from Notre Dame.
Yeah, rather than her staying.
So do you think it was just bigger bags somewhere else?
Yeah, for sure.
For sure.
How much was she projected to be getting now?
Do anybody know?
Yeah.
In college right now?
I'm saying Notre Dame's the top.
What was her idea?
No, because her... What was her NIA? That's she ranked? I'm saying Notre Dame's the top. What was her idea? Well, no, because, like, her, her, her.
Yeah, what was her NRA?
That's why it's, like, so interesting,
because, like, her social media presence
is, like, not like the other ones.
I'll say, yeah.
She's an excellent player.
So it's, like, it really just depends
on, like, your situation and who you are,
whether you get all these other brand deals
and all this other money and notoriety.
So I think she's trying to probably build her brand.
And Notre Dame's like one of those
you're not bigger than the programs type programs.
Do it sound crazy that, like, a number two pick
said I'm going back to school?
In any sport?
Yes, but like I just said, the timing of it is crazy.
So I feel like any other year, she would have probably come out.
But now with NIL, it's not as crazy because as a number two pick.
I'm saying 10 years.
Somebody want that.
Somebody want that.
Like 80 grand, 70, 80 grand a year, WNBA for four years.
It's a lot different.
You're talking NFL, NBA to WNBA money.
It's a lot different.
And next year, she could be like the main person.
I hate to say it, with Juju being out,
you don't know how long she gonna take to come back.
Yeah.
I mean, honestly, I do think maybe some of their decisions
were impacted by Juju getting hurt.
Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
Which is wild, because you say, oh, Juju got hurt.
I should go to the league and try to get my bread.
But nowadays, damn, Juju, I should stay in college
and go get this thing.
Yeah, I could be number one, yeah.
I need to worry about my future.
Yeah.
Fuck Juju.
I know. So sad still.
I like thinking about it once a day.
He could've won a championship.
Fucking mad.
I can't even hate you.
I still can.
Mm. Now we got our ass whooped.
We gonna have to rent a backpack next year
when we healthy.
We'll see.
Shit, if I'm her, I'm not playing college basketball next year.
I know she won't.
Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
I'm not trying to rush back.
I'm not trying to rush back to that.
But she's still getting paid.
Still got her likeness, trust me.
Oh, and the likeness is now even comeback season.
Like, she got a whole new likeness.
Her whole likeness is shifted.
You know how big that'll be
if she win a chip?
I'm rehabbing.
That's the third year
I'm rehabbing next year.
Don't listen to them, Jew.
They want to see you play.
They want to see you play.
Can you move?
By the end,
y'all money gonna...
Yeah, when our money goes up,
yeah, she might not play
the next year.
Yes.
Still be number one pick.
We know on the men's side,
they got the one and done rule.
On the women's side,
you got to stay four years
before you graduate to be able to go.
What?
You want to see a chip in L.A.?
You might.
I'm thinking about our future.
You're very close to seeing one.
You might.
I don't want to see them.
Two games away.
Who the fuck want to see them?
Just might see one.
I'm thinking about the young lady's future, Nick.
Gabriella Hockett, the rest of the crew.
This could push her. Because she's not getting money from USC. She's going to the young lady's future, Nick. That's all. Gabriella Hockett, the rest of the crew. Me too.
Like, this could push her.
Because she not getting money from USC.
She going to be the number one pick.
She getting money from everywhere else.
Number one pick, national championship.
We went to the Elite Eight.
She don't need to be.
Listen.
Without her.
Without the national championship, guess what?
She's still the number one pick.
Because we don't know how that knee look.
Yeah.
That's why she not playing next year.
We need her to.
She need to take her time. She need to take her time.
She need to take her time.
She sit out a whole year, then enter the W.
Nah, don't listen to them.
Yeah, listen. Trust me.
You could be a part of history.
You don't know how it feel to go to USC and win.
That's why, like, you're gonna have money forever.
They got the boosters and...
Well, I mean, we saw what happened with OJ,
so I don't know if it's gonna be forever.
Or they can...
You may be having to... Or they can do it like be forever Or they can do it like they did Reggie Bush
He got it back
He got his jersey back on the thing
Then they give him his eyes burn off that they I don't think you gave it to him. They had it back
I thought he put him in a commercial.
I thought he was looking at all this shit like, what the hell?
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah.
Oh, bro.
I thought he said he lost it so he won't have to give it back to them.
Of course he's going to tell you that.
That's what I would tell you. I know.
He looking at all this denial stuff like, what the hell?
Like, ruined my damn career.
On the men's side, we got one and done.
Women's side, you got to stay four years,
graduate before you can go to W.
But we've seen the W's growth and expansion now.
We got three teams coming in the next two years.
Should the WM consider altering their draft eligibility requirements
to allow college players to enter the league sooner?
No.
Still no?
Still no.
Go get your degree, girl.
I think it's good for the league when you see, like,
their number one picks come in.
Like, you get a lot of, I don't think it should be three years.
I think it probably should be two.
It's three.
It should be.
Depending on how old you are.
I have a question.
Hm?
Do the women's side, just say if you leave early,
will they pay for you to come back and get your degree?
I think it depends on the relationship you have with your school, honestly.
Like my best friend, she actually had transferred from North Carolina to Tennessee, graduated in her four years and had one more year of eligibility.
And she went overseas.
And then she got picked third the next year
So like if you want to leave you wanted to graduate early and you know, I'm saying I graduate early like just come back
Yeah, it's your three years like yeah, I think it really will depend on your life
You come in as a freshman you do and we're three years or now you decide
Okay, I'm gonna leave after my third year and go to the W right? Yeah
Would they pay for you after you...
The W or college?
No, your college would they allow you...
I think it would depend on the relationship you have.
Yeah, because most men's side, if you had, like, if you stayed for whatever years, let's say you left early, like, just...
You're...
I know somebody that left after their freshman year.
And went back and...
And went back and paid for the last few years
to get his degree.
Because it still goes down as a graduate of the program.
For graduation rates and all that?
Graduation rates.
Does that stuff even matter now?
It doesn't matter anymore.
Like it used to, but I'm just saying, but it still...
Because when did they even go to school?
It looks good on the brochure, right?
When you send the shit out in the mail
and you're trying to get alumni to give money,
97% of our guys graduate like that.
That shit looks great, right?
Yeah.
What I see...
It took them 23 years to graduate, but...
What I can see happening is maybe girls,
if our salaries do go up significantly,
I would see girls maybe trying to do that,
plan something with their school,
or just try and graduate in three years,
because that's possible, too, and they can go.
It's definitely possible.
And they can go.
Yeah, I got to take online classes for USC this summer.
Well, somebody going to take online classes for me.
How it goes on that side of the town.
No, you're going to take them.
Yeah, I'm going to take them.
So we asked the chat, should the WNBA allow one and done?
65% of the chat disagrees with you, Lexi.
They said that they should allow it, but obviously you know more about the interwar.
No, because they just want it for one player.
So I get it.
They want it for Juju.
I have a question.
Like the really good, right?
Y'all want these women running around with no degree
at 19 years old in the real world?
No, no, no. I get you.
So then that's when...
With non-guaranteed contracts.
But men did it, though, right?
It's the chance you take.
If you believe in your skill set...
If you're trying to be a pro, right,
and you believe in your skill set,
then it's a chance you take
You're just like the man side some of them kids wasn't gonna make it they believe in their skill set
It was a lot
but
Then you got to make so that's where I found. That's why I'm just big on education. That's why I found
So match it is
Most college degrees,
people not working in that field no way.
Yeah, but they have it.
I'm working mine.
I got a fucking piece of paper.
You want to hang it on your wall?
I can write some shit on it for you.
What you want me to write on it?
I can write anything, bitch,
so you can stick it on your wall.
But if you ain't using it, it's just a waste of fucking money.
Time, resources.
But with them, don't you feel like them being a star in college is like being the
one or two top players in college?
That means something too, though.
Like that's the same level as being in the WNBA.
Because you get all the focus on you.
Like if Juju stage, she'll have all the focus on her.
Instead of going and fighting with everybody in the WNBA.
I mean, it would change the landscape.
She stands out.
She stands out.
But you're not playing against.
That she's forced to go to as opposed to I get to pick SC.
I get to pick.
I get to bring in players that I want.
And they're getting money.
I can play.
I can bring in transfer players.
I'm on both players that I want. And they're getting money. I can play. I can bring in transfer players. I'm on both sides.
I understand.
I'm just, but if I'm...
I heard the girl from Notre Dame coming to USC.
So, Swaggy, you said you're taking online classes.
Producers want to know what classes are you taking?
Please tell.
Well, I was a sociology major.
Okay.
So, I changed a sociology major. Okay. So I changed into a business because I want to expand my law.
I'm trying to be a lawyer, so I'm going into the law now.
You're going to be a lawyer going into the law now?
What kind of lawyer?
Donnie Cochran?
I got to think.
I don't know.
There's a lot going on.
I'm trying to pick which. I want to be swaggy to the lawyer.
You kind of, better call Saul.
Whatever the person, whoever the person is gonna take,
I mean, whatever class is gonna take this summer, you know.
You could be the black Jacob and Ronnie, too.
Think about it.
So we still do not know the classes you're taking. That's an L.A. joke, y'all.
Because he don't know.
Because he don't know.
He gave you one class, all Jacob.
He gave you some shit that they put on his schedule
as a freshman.
Sociology.
Oh, I remember that name.
He don't know.
That was my major.
That's a good major.
Who?
What is it?
I think all athletes should have studied sociology
at some point in their college.
I like that stuff, though. I was like...
We had, like, we big. We got, like, an acting...
We got, like, acting classes and stuff.
Yeah, they gave you that to help with your GPA.
No, but I liked it, though. You know?
But they gave you that to help with your GPA, though.
You took finger painting and stuff?
No, I don't think we had a finger painting course at USC.
Yeah, video game class, too.
Yeah, they still... Acting, video game.
Yeah, they gave you them to help with your GPA.
So, our showrunner, Steve, used to be a professor at USC.
Professor Martinez wants you to know
that his sports production course
is no longer being offered, unfortunately,
since we got to a million subs.
You know, we were committed to Gilderita,
President Abani.
Whatever Dr. Green did to USC,
they sure did have basketball class.
I had basketball 101.
Bowling.
Bowling was a class.
Bowling?
I took a history of hip-hop class.
I did, too.
That was fun.
It was fun.
It actually got hard.
It was.
It was history of music.
Yeah.
You think it's just going to be,
we're going to talk about rap. No. No. You're not. history of music. Yeah. So you think it's just going to be, we're going to talk about rap.
No.
No.
You're not.
History of music.
Yeah.
Damn.
History of hip hop.
Who made that?
Dr. Dre did.
Dr. Dre got his own building up there at USC, so I might do that.
You might do the building?
The music department.
I might do music.
Well, keeping it in LA, so we weren't going to talk about the Lakers today.
Lawyer, business, sociology, music.
We weren't going to talk about the Lakers today,
but Swaggy, you asked me to put it in the show.
Of course.
So I had to do it.
They say we talk about the Lakers too much in the chat.
Did you see them yesterday?
I called them heads.
You talked about them motherfuckers yesterday, man?
Huh?
Can you imagine a game last night?
Did we talk about the Lakers yesterday?
No, we didn't.
Maybe. Who knows?
Not really. Not really. A little bit.
More Grizzlies.
Oh, yeah. We talked a lot about the Grizzlies yesterday. We talked from the Grizzlies angle.
They just happened to play the Lakers on Saturday.
The fights.
Then Monday, Rockets happened to play the Lakers.
So, Lakers hosted the Rockets in a battle between the teams
with the two toughest remaining schedules
in all of basketball.
Let's see some of the highlights if we can.
It was a productive evening in Los Angeles.
So this was a tightly contested game.
What the hell?
With neither team leading by double digits at any point.
Game started slow.
Both teams failing to score 20 points in the first quarter
while putting up more bricks than Freeway Rick.
It was a more balanced scoring game on both sides as well with 20 points being the game high amand thompson got there for
the rockets while luca donchik gabe shamar more vincent and black and mild dory and phoenix smith
got there for the lakers uh phoenix smith and vincent did so off the bench giving the lakers
a much-needed spark with their 12 combined threes in the game on a night where LeBron scored just 16 points.
You see Jackson Hayes dunking on the Shanguini.
Obviously, Dylan Brooks was up to his mischief,
trying to poke LeBron in the rest of the leg.
Nice.
You see Black and Miles right here.
Great pass.
Great, great game on his side.
Good to have.
Rui Hachimura, he had more action as well for the Lakers
as he bounces back from injury.
Oh, shit.
No, don't do that.
Yeah.
Like a man who got smoked.
Weak-ass tech, too.
Yeah, that was an unfortunate tech.
I'm going to be real.
He got a tech?
He got a tech for that.
Talking to his bench.
What shit weak as his?
But late in the game, Lakers up four.
Bron came through with one of his trademark block by James.
He still got a little bit left in the tank.
So the Rockets got a combined 23 points out of Alperin Shangoon and Jalen Green,
which explains why they failed to reach 100 points after dropping 148 points
in a 39-point win against the Suns on, what, was that Sunday?
Their previous game.
You see how high St. Goon goes off the ground?
That's crazy.
So Jalen Green spent most of crunch time on the bench
playing five minutes in the fourth quarter
going scoreless in that period.
He was 4 of 13 from the field with nine points.
Lakers and Rockets have split their first two games of the season.
Final meeting coming on April 11th in LA.
But Kenyon obviously used to be a Rockets fan
when KJ was there, but student of the game.
Did last night tell you more about the Lakers
or the Rockets?
I'm gonna go more with the Rockets.
No, I don't care what y'all do.
We just met.
Hey, you traveled past the 10.
You were officially a Los Angeles.
I go the back way.
Just completely.
Yeah.
I go to 10.
Yeah.
Yeah. I go around.
Yeah.
I go all the way around from here.
I take the one 18 to the two. Yeah. I go that way. I'm talking about. Yeah, I go all the way around. From here, I take the 118 to the 22.
Yeah, I go that way.
You know what I'm talking about?
Sure.
I do, too.
That damn 4-5.
What's that?
No, but it's...
Yeah?
I think Houston trying to prove something to themselves and the league
and not to have...
I think they're not their best player, their second best player,
not out there when they're at this point of the game,
at this point of the season.
We've seen that this season with Jalen Green.
He'll have great games, he'll have games where I'm going to say he disappears.
He's very up and down.
Yeah, he is.
He's streaky, but he's still his presence.
I'm not saying he's as good as Tracy or none of them guys,
but he's that kind of aura when he's on the floor that he draws attention.
So when he's making shots or not.
But I'm not his head coach, so.
Oh, he wasn't out there right then?
What happened?
He wasn't out there?
So you want to listen to what Josiah was saying?
So he sat most of crunch time, only played five minutes in the fourth quarter, was scoreless.
What was he going for?
What was his shooting percentage?
He was 4-13 in the game, only had nine points.
He only just read it.
He only just read the shit.
Like, literally right before I started speaking.
I don't read the script.
The script reads me.
I didn't read the script either.
I just listened to what he was saying.
I found out the exact same time that Lexi did
and everybody else in the goddamn studio.
All I heard was Lakers.
I tried to do that in my hood.
All I heard was Lakers, and that's...
You tried to give me complete information, right?
I didn't hear Houston.
You didn't ask a question.
I just heard Lakers.
Oh.
I was going to talk about how good the Lakers are.
Okay.
Well, like I said, it says more about that.
Not to score 100. Okay, well, like I said, says more about that. Um...
Not score 100. It's rough. They can't.
It's the Lakers.
Rough. Stifling defense.
They scored 140-something points.
The night before. Not the first.
See, they used to be in the first Lakers.
This is Luka Lakers. This is the Luka.
They ain't fucking with Luka Lakers.
LA Lukas.
Y'all still only scored a fucking hundred.
It don't matter.
Look, you know why?
Because we got a goddamn...
Hey, y'all ain't let y'all...
Shamar Moore comes through the door.
I know, Gary.
He must be in contract here.
He must...
I think he has another year left on his deal, but...
Oh, well, shoot.
Shamar, very streaky,
but to your point about Jalen Green,
so according to StatMama,
Green, youngest Rockets player to record
50 career games with 30 points.
Also third youngest shooter guard ever to reach that.
So he's shown he has the potential to do it.
But like I said, at times this season, he's been on the bench when it's winning time.
Yeah, like I said, that's the relationship that he has with, I'm saying, Emmy.
But I don't, I wouldn't, like I said, just his presence on the floor draws attention.
Yeah.
But, like I said, that's the way he felt he needs to coach his team
when it doesn't translate into a postseason situation
where you can lose somebody in a playoff series.
That's that defensive shit.
So, but.
I hate them defensive coaches.
I just want to play defense.
That's why you lose sometimes.
You try to put all your defenders in at the end
and give it to Sangoon that can't jump over his feet.
So the motherfucker's getting blocked and shit.
That's what happens, man.
They need a star that they could go to in the playoffs.
I think the stars get the teams over the hump sometimes.
They need somebody that they can go to and get a bucket,
and I think Sangoon is that guy over Green.
I don't think so.
I think you need Green out there.
He would have put pressure on the Lakers.
Would you please let this young man know what Alpene Stangoon is averaging on the season, please?
I don't care.
I'm going to do that for you right now.
Swaggy, Swaggy, let me tell you that he does not care.
Okay, well you should.
It's not working.
It's not working.
It's not working.
It's not working.
It's not working.
It's not working.
It's not working.
It's not working.
It's not working.
It's not working.
It's not working.
It's not working.
It's not working.
It's not working.
It's not working.
It's not working.
It's not working.
It's not working.
It's not working.
It's not working.
It's not working.
It's not working.
It's not working.
It's not working.
It's not working.
It's not working.
It's not working.
It's not working.
It's not working.
It's not working.
It's not working.
It's not working.
It's not working.
It's not working.
It's not working.
It's not working.
It's not working.
It's not working.
It's not working.
It's not working.
It's not working.
It's not working.
It's not working.
It's not working.
It's not working.
It's not working.
It's not working.
It's not working.
It's not working. He's comparable to Jackson Hay. No. So, yeah, 19 points, 10 rebounds, five assists.
Put the system, please.
I'm giving a full body of work.
50% from the field.
Yeah.
Trust me.
That damn adult league basketball, 40-year-old, slow shit,
can't jump, got to do hook shots and shit.
Just being a smart, slow, fat, big.
There's only one good one.
That's Joker.
There's only one slow, fat, big. He ain't good enough.
It's Baby Joker.
Yeah, so that shit get blocked.
This ain't going to work in the playoffs.
So you need somebody that could create.
You got to give him confidence.
You need somebody that can create.
Is that what you said?
Obviously, he ain't watched him play.
So why would y'all be listening to anything coming out this morning?
I'm going to put the ball in Green's hand before I put it in his.
Yeah, yeah.
I'll put it in.
It depends on the game.
Yeah, yeah.
I don't know.
I just, for me, I feel like him doing that slow shit with one minute left, you could
key in on it more than somebody like Green that could score in different areas, mid-range, three-pointer, athletic,
could dribble, could handle.
Even with Denver, they go to Murray for game winners
before they go to the Jokers.
But I think the big guy has the ball in his hand first.
I think when Murray pulls us out the playoffs,
all I see is when Murray beat us in the playoffs
is Murray picking a roll.
And the ball starts in the Colas' hands first.
It's a pick and roll.
Starts with the Colas first.
To get the big, the guard Murray, and Murray take advantage.
So who did the big start on?
It's a pick and roll.
So how did the big get on him?
Pick and roll.
Who had the ball?
Murray. He coming off a pick and roll.
If some big man's standing in the screen, that's a switch. You get the big on you. That don't mean Joker has the ball? Murray. Coming off a pick and roll. If some big man's saying the screen, that's a switch.
You get the big on you.
That don't mean Joker has the ball.
They ain't running the pick and roll.
That mean you call the big nigga up like, come on, do your job.
No, no.
Set the screen.
Not in this situation if you had a...
Set the screen.
No, no.
You don't throw it.
If you had Nurkic, yeah, that's the case, yes.
Well, my playoffs, I've seen...
The goal of bringing the ball up the floor.
In my playoffs, I've seen Denver versus Lakers.
Well, I remember...
So what was the end result?
What was the end result? I remember Murray. But... I don't remember Joker's... What was the end result? So if Lakers. So what was the end result? What was the end result?
I remember Murray.
I don't remember Jokers.
What was the end result?
So if I would learn from Denver, Murray hit the game winner.
Then he got his ass home.
That's the old Lakers.
You brought it up, motherfucker.
That's the old Lakers.
The thing about the old days is we are the old Lakers.
You brought it up.
Even the coach tried to punk LeBron because we knew about it. He was weak then the code
I'll get shit in the brain. Yeah, call him a b-word
Bronson is saying our pockets should have didn't so now we thought he blocked that shit and said I guess that you already
I want to bring up all right like the side
Did I want to bring up old shit did it home by now like this?
Don't buy our premium
50-year-old block your shot. Talking about Alpen St. Goon.
He made a good play.
Threw that shit to the fifth stand.
Yeah, he did.
The fifth stands.
What was the fifth?
The fifth.
Nick, what goes on in here?
Nothing.
I know he's going to fight with me,
so I got to be quick on my feet.
So a lot of words don't come out like they should.
And you seen them old school cartoons, right?
Motherfuckers go in their business, a birdcage.
Fucking birds and swimmers flying around in that motherfucker,
chasing one another.
Fight back.
Fight back.
It was more quiet.
It was better.
When you going back on vacation?
Hey, listen.
On the 17th.
I don't want to deal with this shit.
On the 17th, I'm going fishing.
So, got one coming up.
So, Lexi, looking at this Lakers-Rockets game last night,
did the Lakers win?
Tell you more about the Lakers or the Rockets.
For me, I was watching the Lakers
because we've been waiting on their role players to step up, get healthy.
So, I feel like that was a good sign for them that their bench guys were scoring the ball. in the Lakers because we've been waiting on like their role players to step up get healthy so I
feel like that was a good sign for them that their bench guys were scoring the ball that was something
that we talked about even last season was like you put these bench guys on the court and they're just
not producing anything so them being confident Luca giving them open shots I think that's what
they were missing and then Rui coming back was great for them. So, still not a Laker fan over here.
Getting close, though. Never.
I feel like we are converting both of you guys slowly but surely.
We cannot. I will never cheer for Lakers, but...
See, Lexi, see? I knew we were here.
Couldn't wait to get all the sparks, right?
Talking crazy about L.A., man.
So, Dorian Finney-Smith started some games for Lakers
with the injury issues going on, came off the bench.
Gabe Vincent came off the bench.
They combined for 40 points, hit 12 threes in that game.
When you play with someone like Luke, you just gotta be ready to shoot the ball.
It led to team scoring?
I know Luke had 20.
Luke had 20 as well.
But do you trust the Lakers bench to step up like this consistently?
That has been an issue plaguing the team this season.
We know you don't like the Lakers.
So you relying on them to make 12 threes a game?
They don't need to. It's just one relying on them to make 12 threes a game? You know.
They don't need to.
It's just one of them.
Let's be honest.
No.
So that's all I'm saying.
But I don't think they're going to get 12 threes.
I'm also not thinking Lucas is going to have a 20-point game and the Browns are going to have 16.
Reeves ain't going to have what?
He had 12.
Papa de Limon.
So let me ask you all a question.
Did the Rockets – I didn't watch the game.
I just saw like some yeah
Did the Rockets defense have anything to do with this?
I'm gonna be honest with you like watching that first half
It was just a lot of miss shot both sides open open shots guys. Just just brick it
Okay, you know I mean it wasn't so much a defensive effort. That's why we're they were locking down
Saying have a little bit more on a back-to-back. Yeah, Houston was on a second night of back-to-back.
It just smacked the Suns by 39 previously.
These playoffs are going to be crazy.
They shouldn't have been tired.
Young legs.
Young legs.
Young legs.
Brooks got kicked out in the first quarter.
Are y'all serious?
Brooks got kicked out in the first quarter.
Hold on, hold on.
What day was it?
Hold on.
So let's put it in perspective here.
Short flight.
Played in Phoenix.
What city are you coming to?
It's a good time.
I'm in L.A.
It's a good city.
You're laying.
Outside.
Young guys.
The boys are outside when the plane landed, dog.
Diligent, right to the hotel.
Yeah.
Bible study, ice.
Yes, yeah, absolutely.
Bikers on the schedule.
Yes, that, all of that.
No, I'm just kidding.
Yes, yeah.
Some people, yes. Bible study and ice bath. Yes. Yeah, absolutely. Bikers on the schedule. Yes, that. All of that. No, I'm just kidding. Yes. Some people, yes.
I was studying in the ice bath.
Absolutely.
A few of them, a couple of them went to the hotel.
But LA's not cracking like that anymore.
So what is it?
On Sunday night?
Monday?
Is it still?
I haven't been out in a long time.
Monday.
I have a 24-year-old son.
He?
Monday.
Hey, I have a 24-year-old son.
So it's still going on like that?
LA's still popping if you want to be popping. Right? They're playing with the Lucky Strays. OK, that is a 24-year-old son. So it's still going on like that? L.A. is still popping if you want to be popping.
They're popping at the Lucky Strikes.
Okay, that is a great place to go.
Downtown where it's a club at night.
But you can't get the ball.
You still bowl, but it's a club at night.
Yeah, so that's the one.
I've heard of that.
I heard of that.
I heard a few other places.
Got Sam's.
Look, that's disgusting.
I'm talking about on a Monday night, though.
There ain't shit to do like that. Sam's is awful. When you're young, everything's disgusting. I'm talking about on a Monday night, though. There ain't shit to do like that.
Sam's is awful.
When you're young, everything is...
No, young old Sam's.
They got in Sunday, had a 6 p.m. game, I believe, in Phoenix.
Sunday night, yeah.
Sunday in L.A., they going out, man.
Yeah, they got it cracking.
Our flight?
Few of them dudes was...
Hey, man.
Yeah.
Did it... It, it looked like...
It don't change...
Listen, the times don't change, man.
That's a...
Certain cities, certain...
You know who going out.
You know what city it is.
They don't need to go out.
Right.
They in Houston know.
They don't need to go out.
It don't...
That sound good, Lexi.
And they just came from Phoenix.
I played a new York
Guess what? I played in Jersey four years there are two years in the city. Guess what?
Shit don't close in New York. We go to Miami. I'm excited
Change the scenery change the scene
I've seen them girls all the time. I
See them airs Sunday in New York
Yeah, I'm only my I go to Miami twice all the time. I see them every Sunday in New York.
Yeah.
I'm only in Miami.
I go to Miami twice.
595 pipeline.
We in L.A., you know what I'm saying?
Thank you, Shabazz.
Might be a back-to-back.
They probably came in
before and didn't get
their head,
probably had an early game
or something.
Didn't get to.
Next time we go back,
when, April?
Shit, March?
Oh, shit.
Does that stay on your mind
if you have to go to see
and you don't get to turn up
quite like you want to? Next time I come here, I'm going to... Oh, look at the schedule. Oh, shit. Does that stay on your mind if you have to go to a city you don't get to turn up quite like you want to?
Next time I come here, I'm a...
Oh, look at the schedule.
Oh, man.
That's how we were when Vegas got there to us first.
We was all so excited.
See?
Now we hate it.
So, damn, Vegas.
But first year, we were like, we go to...
I was in Connecticut, so, you know, I was excited.
Exactly.
But Houston, a great city, has a thriving...
It is, but they've been on the road.
Houston, all right. They have been... They've been on the road. I like Houston more Vegas. But Houston, a great city, has a thriving night. It is, but they've been on the road. Houston, all right.
They have been.
They've been on the road.
They've been around.
I like Houston more than Miami, though, sometimes.
They were in Phoenix for like three days, though.
Oh, yeah.
See, some of them dudes vibe ain't Phoenix.
Yeah.
Right?
Yeah, I don't go to Phoenix.
Phoenix is nice for some of them dudes.
I don't know, man.
Phoenix ain't the vibe for some of the team.
They probably, they just, they.
Yeah.
So.
When you touch down in certain cities,
and you don't know how the game look like,
but you just tell that time.
Obviously, it had ample time to prepare in that Suns game with the 39-point lead.
The game was decided early on.
Yeah, but we got this one out the way.
Shit, where we at?
Let's go.
Where we at?
I had the phone on the bench. I don't know if they do it I used to do
That situation we got their game in Phoenix and we come here. I'm not going to the hotel. Oh
No, we got the car at signature
When we get off the plane, yeah, I got I carry I got only thing I got me is my carry on
I'm not going to the hotel.
See, that's 45 minutes that I don't have to spare.
But they're young, though.
Some of them might have to, though.
That's a young team.
I dig it.
But I'm just getting to say that I used to wear it.
And our team that we were on, we'd pull up,
and there's seven SUVs parked up there.
And guess what?
Coach was like, god damn. And guess what? Coach was like,
God damn.
And guess what?
We all going to the same place.
Going to end up at the same spot.
There's seven,
eight cars out there.
Niggas are not riding together.
Not riding.
Might have a rookie with you.
Might have a rookie with you.
Might have a rookie
or a young guy.
One of y'all had per car.
But if it's a vet,
it might be one of,
it depends on the group. It really do. That's how I got it. Gil will let you ride with him. Gil's a vet, it might be one of them. It depends on the group.
It really do.
That's how I got out of it.
Gil would let you ride with him.
That's how I got out of it.
That's the only way I could not get on the bus if the vet said,
oh, he coming with me.
Oh, your husband's like, yay.
He get off that bus as a rookie.
Oh, yeah.
What if I'm going with him. I'm going with him.
I'm going with Gil.
Yeah, no, chalk it up.
So let's talk a little bit more Rockets.
Number two seed in the West.
Recently had a nine-game winning streak.
Have won 12 of their last 14 games.
But should the Rockets be on upset alert as the current number two seed in the West?
Depends on who finishes seven.
So right now you're looking at, honestly.
The Clippers are at seven.
It's a tight West, so you're looking at any combination of anybody from
Grizzlies, Warriors, Timberwolves, Clippers.
Upset.
I don't think it's a, see, this is the difference with this situation here.
Whoever landed at two, the team that's at seven could have been at two. The team that's at seven could have been at two.
The team that's at five
could have been at two.
So it don't,
it's only one clear-cut team
in the West that we like.
OKC is the better team.
But everybody else
has been fluctuating
these last couple weeks.
And people are going to be
jockeying right now
on who they want to play
in the first round.
So they might see something.
They might like,
shoot, we got this.
We think we might match, we got this.
We think we might match up better for this.
Let's see how this go this weekend,
and we can plan for these games coming up.
So they might want to play whoever at seven.
Might want to, oh, let's go to three.
We might match better at six.
Let's not drop to this.
But could be playing that game.
I think the final, I mean, we're seeing on this home stretch getting to the end of the season, but those final couple of games,
we're going to see some.
It's going to be crazy.
We see it every year, but I think this year in particular,
you're going to have teams deliberately losing games
or playing like it's game seven in the finals
trying to get that matchup that they want.
Yes.
You'll see coaches, wrestling players, too, making up backbones.
Your bruised backbone. Bruised backbone. Hold that, too, making up backbones. Your bro's backbone.
Boo's backbone.
All that, bruh.
Trust me.
The matchups in that first round, dawg, can make or break you.
Yeah.
You know that, hey, that can make a...
For real.
The matchups, you feel like, hey, I know what...
We probably...
I don't wanna see the Warriors.
Against them, they probably...
So it's probably 3-1 in the season series, but them three, them...
We felt we could've got them, right?
So Lakers Rockets currently 1-1, but amongst other teams.
Yeah, we feel we can get them, right?
Or we feel we match up better with this team.
I like our chances.
Even though they got the season series against us,
I like our chances against them.
We get hot, we do this, we get this going, we got them.
We can give ourselves a chance in this.
That's why we stand by Memphis.
You see how close we stand to Memphis?
Whatever Memphis do, we do.
Y'all win, we gotta win.
They tripping right now.
It seems like a lot of teams are going to want to try to get Memphis
which is close now
depending on how this Warriors game goes tonight.
I don't want to play Warriors.
They could drop. I don't want to play Warriors. They could drop.
I don't want to play Warriors or the Clippers.
I don't want to play Warriors.
First round.
We were ready for whoever, Swaggy.
We're going to have to see.
They'll win, but it'll be a hard first round.
That's real.
Y'all ain't no way.
Y'all ducking smoke?
No duck.
Nah, we'd rather see them second prize.
Y'all ducking smoke.
I thought y'all was a real team since y'all got Luka and all.
We are the Luka.
It'd be a blowout. But, you know, who want to see... Not worried about Denver....Steph lose that fast?
That's what y'all made. We're trying to help the money.
We're trying to help the league generate revenue.
I see the way you went with that.
I see how you... As it stands right now...
We need to see Golden State Lakers,
Western Conference Finals.
That's not gonna happen. Nothing like that.
Unlikely, but, I mean, Lakers will be there,
but just depending on how the Warriors do. Hey, that little light-skinned boy make it to the Western Conference Finals. That's not going to happen. Unlikely, but I mean, Lakers will be there,
but just depending on how the Warriors do.
Hey, that little light-skinned boy
make it to the Western Conference final.
Y'all better look out.
So Rockets currently second.
I'll tell you that shit right now.
Playoff started today.
Rockets will be taking on the Timberwolves
in the seventh spot.
Oh, they can beat them, I think.
Say that again?
I think they can beat the Timberwolves.
Rockets are second.
Timberwolves currently seventh.
That doesn't account for playing.
Nah, they ain't beating the Wolves.
Wolves too.
Y'all play, yeah, that, yeah.
You seen them play last year?
Who?
The Wolves, to me, they got a star, so they, and they a star, and know that.
I don't believe in them.
You don't believe in them?
Minnesota?
Nah.
No.
Nah.
Hold on.
Nah.
They just win that Isaiah, the toughest dude in the league.
Like, what's up?
What's that got to do with the seven-game playoff series?
That's what I'm saying.
He ain't scared, man.
Isaiah was so scared, nigga had to grab his nuts and shit.
He didn't have a screen grab of what
looked like a junk grabby.
He was like, Dante, no.
Just reached out and grabbed him.
Grabbing little Dante.
That's just it.
But we asked the chat, will the Rockets make it out
of the first round thing?
Yeah.
I like it when we got this arena going down.
Will the Rockets make it out the first round?
And before I read the poll response,
whoever in the chat was saying Gil got deported by ICE,
that's.
Damn. Damn. Just me and Brooklyn, all deported by ICE, that's... Damn.
Damn.
Just me and Brooklyn, all right?
They got the McDonald's All-American game tonight.
Oh, yeah.
They were full of shit.
But I didn't feel like that was particularly diabolical.
Just had to give you some love.
But will the Rockets make it out the first round?
65% of the chat says no.
They do not have faith in the Rockets squad.
Shot negative to me.
Rockets got a top four defense in the league right now.
That's a regular season defense.
I think they did show some issues last night with their half-court offense. Rocket Squad. Shot negative to me. Rocket's got a top four defense in the league right now. That's a regular season defense. I think they did show some issues last night with their half-court offense.
It translates.
Being able to get a bucket.
Obviously, the game slows down in the playoffs.
It translates, man.
The defense translates more than the offense.
Half-court defense, because in the playoffs, it's a half-court game.
So, if you're top four, you don't have to try to rev your defense up
or start paying attention to detail now.
Every possession. So, with them being fourth four for me and they then had good game plans night in night out throughout
the regular season yeah and you have a foundation to go on now when the playoffs start you know
your matchups you end the game stuff who you're gonna put it young too yeah that means so does
that mean more than than halfcourt offense struggles, right?
Can that half-court defense get you over the top?
Take out of sets, man, because you're not, by this point of the season,
you're not putting in new plays.
You're not doing what, when the playoffs start,
you know what team's going to run, you know when they go.
It's just, it's a matter of if guys are really better than you offensively,
are they making shots, or are you going to make it difficult,
bring the ball up the floor, take them out of sets.
You know they're trying to run.
Top-blocking situation where they're trying to run a pin down.
You're down in situation.
I think you can change defenses up easier to fuck with offense in the playoffs.
Yeah, because you're going in playoffs trying to change your offense. Yeah, because you're going in the playoffs
trying to change your offense.
Yeah, it's not going to happen.
So I've been guarding the pick and roll this way all season.
I can guard it this way.
That's how we won in Chicago.
We changed our ball screen defense in the finals.
That's what you got to do.
Yeah.
This is my thing.
I'm changing up out of every time out.
Damn.
Oh.
Out of every time out.
That's what I think, Lex.
That's crazy.
Yeah.
Every time out? I ain't saying we're going to stick with it, but we might go back to the same defense. Damn. Oh. Out of every time. That's what I think, Lex. That's crazy. Yeah.
Every time or not?
I ain't saying we gonna stick with it, but we might go back to the same defense.
Possession or two?
So, I'm gonna give you a different look coming out of that.
Two and two split.
I might run at you.
Oh, two and two?
Might double the first.
Just keep people off bat.
There you go, seven.
Especially if you have a good defensive team.
You can do stuff like that.
So, the Rockets and Wolves this season split the series two.
Two have not played since February 21st.
So. So.
What's the margin of wins?
Is he healthy?
All the games were within seven points.
He only got hit the other day.
He's fine?
And Edwards is fine?
I don't know.
He appears to be.
OK.

But yesterday, a clip surfaced of a Mavs fan yelling,
Fire Nico, right in Nico Harris' face.
We have that along with security's reaction a few moments later.
Let's take a look.
Play.
Fire Nico.
Fire Nico. Fire Nico! Fire Nico!
People have lost their minds.
What is that?
That's a player.
That appears to...
Security.
The security guard apparently has an allegiance to Nico Harrison, was not feeling the Fire
Nico...
Look at the jersey though.
He's...
Fire Nico!
With the Luka jersey on, just to add insult.
I'm not sure if that's a good thing.
I'm not sure.
I'm not sure.
I'm not sure.
I'm not sure.
I'm not sure.
I'm not sure.
I'm not sure.
I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. The security guard apparently has an allegiance to Nico Harrison with not feeling the fire Nico jersey. Look at the jersey, though.
Fire Nico!
With the Luca jersey on, just to add insult.
He shouldn't have got all up in that fan space.
But question for you guys,
what will it take for Mavs fans to get past their beef with Nico Harrison?
Is it eternal? Fired.
Forever.
He got to go.
Yeah.
I personally don't want him to get fired, obviously, but like that,
they're never going to forgive him for that, ever.
Yeah, I've been saying it.
It's like the Grinch that stole Christmas, dog.
You're going to have to bring someone else.
They're going to have to bring in Zion or something.
They brought Anthony Marshawn Davis.
No, no.
Clearly they don't care.
Max Christie and a first-round pick for the Lakers.
Don't care.
Bruh.
I've never seen fans respond to a trade like this for this long.
They're going to get the Lakers' 30th pick down the road.
Hey, bruh.
They got to do something.
The fact that Nico, I can respect the fact that he's still just walking around.
Like, he don't care.
When he was at the Laker game, right on the bench. He's reveling in their faces like, yeah, I traded that motherfucker.
You're walking around the Mavs Arena.
Everywhere you go in Dallas, nobody's rocking with you.
He's like enemy number one in Dallas.
They're not even rocking with you at Medieval Times.
Right.
And he's not even on one of the tours.
He's still going to Medieval Times. He is definitely public enemy number one in Dallas.
A fire Nico chain at Medieval Times is extremely...
Who is still going to Medieval Times?
A great source of entertainment.
I used to go there all the time in Orlando.
Yeah, it's still popping.
For those who love jousting.
I ain't been there.
Archery.
Kids, man.
That's crazy.
Taking kids.
It's birthday parties and all that's still going on.
Really?
They got one eye?
Did they, like, upgrade the show or something?
They have medieval times in Anaheim.
In, like, a pirate's version of it right next door.
I wonder if the show's, like, better than it was when, like, that was a kid.
Yeah, no, it's...
It's the same.
Them big old turkey leg things.
There's only two things gonna fix this.
They win a championship or they fire Nico.
I don't even think a championship
will make them happy.
It has to be now, though.
They want their bitch this year.
If they want a championship this year, they still fire
Nico. That's the only thing that will make it right.
I don't know.
I don't think so. What if they get a high traffic?
It don't matter. They get Cooper flagged
and you forget about Luca. No, they're not high traffic, it don't matter. They get Cooper Flags, you forget about Luka.
No, they're not.
Shit.
They thought Luka was going to retire.
This boy is...
No, they didn't.
There's no way they thought that.
Let me take that back.
Five first-team All-NBAs.
Bruh, this boy is the future.
They thought that he was at least going to bring them a championship before he dipped.
Even if he didn't.
A top three play kind of helped.
He got to the finals in the even if he didn't. A top three. He got to the finals.
He got to the finals in the first six years, man.
He got to the finals last year,
then you're going to ship him away to the damn Lakers.
Yeah.
Man, they get somebody,
there's something you kind of forget.
You kind of not forget, but you put a, like, ooh.
I don't know.
There's going to be a dark cloud over the Mavericks forever.
If it makes Nico Farley better, Lakers fans give him a thank you, Nico.
Kyrie got hurt.
I'll tell you, I think he got a job over here if he wants.
We love Nico in Los Angeles.
For sure could get moved up in the office.
You can't be the GM.
You can't make decisions here, but you can hang out.
Yeah, you can hang out.
You can hang make decisions here, but you can hang out. Yeah, you can hang out. You can hang out.
Damn.
Damn.
He's the public enemy number one down there.
And given, obviously, the magnitude of that trade
and the fallout as a result of it,
they got to expect that these fired Niko chants are not going,
like, Mavs could potentially make the playoff.
So are you okay with Mavs security coming after fans
who voice their displeasure with Niko?
Well, it's like that.
Like, all right, we hear you, bro.
The first two fire Niko's were fine.
I think the longer version was...
Why you can't say that, though?
Well, now you're becoming like a disturbance
to everybody around you.
You knew you were going to hear that.
Why you coming out there shaking hands?
If you see a portly gentleman in a Luka Doncic jersey.
I'd be scared to shake somebody's hands from Niko.
Yeah.
I'm telling you, he don't care.
He don't care.
Smiling and shit.
But the security probably got some money out of it.
Niko gave him a tip.
Yeah, that was a tip.
Tip, don't trade Luka.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I got a, hey, you're over at GM. I got a... Hey. You ever a GM?
You got a generational Slovenian.
Yeah, you...
Generational.
We're in L.A.
We like...
What can they do?
What can they do, though?
Like, you got them to trade somebody...
I don't even feel like winning a chip.
But like you stated before, Joe, it's the...
Okay, we traded Luca, which is fucked up.
We don't like it.
We know what we got back, and we know the history of what we got back.
And we didn't get no picks for this shit.
Like, we didn't get nothing.
So had it been one of them, the Minnesota-Utah trades
or some shit like that where they got multiple first rounds
for the next, this team's first round, then it's like not.
It stings less.
It stings less, I think, than, damn, they took advantage of us.
Like, damn, Nico, really?
And you gave up your future for this motherfucker
that can't stay healthy and this other guy and one pick? And he got hurt on the matter
already?
First day of work.
I think he's like 4-0 since he'll be back, but you know it's bad when the trade gets
announced and nobody believes that this is what?
If it's 5-1st in there or whatever, then it's like, okay, that's believable.
Yes.
You read it for what it is, like, huh?
It's like a whole line.
Yeah.
That looks weird right now.
Yeah, that's why, like, somebody has that.
Well, AD's been back in the lineup.
He's been playing well.
Mavs.
Shams had to say, no, this is real.
Like, Shams had to say, like, no, this is real.
Oh, yeah, yeah.
Or AD might be 4-1 now.
Like, this is, no, this is a real thing, yeah, yeah. Eddie might be 4-1 now. Like, this is a real thing.
That was crazy.
I thought it was made up.
So let's talk about it from the...
April Fool's before April Fool's.
Which is April Fool's today.
We have not pulled any chicanery on you guys
watching on the show.
I think we're a little too off for that.
We do have a million subs now,
so we gotta move a little bit differently
in games and things.
You know, just how it goes here in Gills and Reign
presented by underdog woop woop.
Yeah, that's some foul and shit.
That's some foul.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
That ain't nothing but like.
That's the thousand sub.
Yeah, yeah.
I had to do out here, but.
Speaking of the trade, Anthony Davis recently spoke to Mark Spears of Anscape, opened up
about the trade to the Mavs.
Here are a few quotes from AD.
He said, I'm great.
I don't feel it, but a lot of people have been coming to me and telling me
they haven't seen me smile like this in a long time.
Obviously, the first maybe 48 hours, it was just a shock because I wasn't expecting it.
Nobody was expecting it.
So they say.
So they say.
So they say.
But I know from my side, my team, and my family,
and everybody who works with me, I wasn't expecting it.
Even when I was getting some of the calls about the trade,
I thought guys were playing.
AD went on to say,
I know what Luka meant to the Mavs organization, to the team.
So it's like, what do I say to these guys coming in as a new leader
and trying to lead these guys to do something special?
And for them, it's like, shit, he just went through probably the biggest trade in sports
history.
What do we say to him?
I'm happy, man.
Happy.
I get to play.
But want to go back to Keith and he said nobody was expecting it.
So they say.
So they say.
You're not rolling.
I don't know who it was.
But should AD feel betrayed by the Lakers for getting traded for Luka?
Hell no.
He should.
I trade myself for Luka.
Come on, man.
It's Luka we're talking about here.
I only got to give up this to get Luka?
He can't be mad at that.
But Lexi, in your opinion, should AD feel betrayed?
Obviously won a championship with the Lakers, was having a great season this year.
Betrayed? No.
But his feelings of being, like, bamboozled,
caught off guard are valid.
Yeah, I see shock.
But betrayed, like you said, is Lucas.
Is Lucas. I feel shocked.
Like, damn, that really happened?
Would you feel proud, like,
I traded for Lucas?
Like, I'm him.
I mean, he seems to be excited about the new opportunity.
And then to him talking about he hasn't smiled, I'm like, were you miserable in L.A.?
Were you not smiling in L.A.?
Because it's a great city, in my opinion.
He was smiling all the time around LeBron.
So they say.
So they say.
So they say.
So it's interesting that he said that.
People haven't seen me smile like this in a long time
because he was telling everybody how happy he was playing in LA.
Yeah, I don't think, yeah, it could be.
Because we would have never seen AD.
He would have been done for the season
if that happened to him out here.
He came back when they ain't got a chance to make it.
Played in the G League, probably.
He didn't actually play a game in there, did he? Mm-hmm. He didn't actually play a game in there, did he?
Mm-hmm.
He didn't actually play a G League game, did he?
He got assigned to the G League.
His name was mentioned with it, so.
He got an assignment.
But let's shift over to this side of the couch.
Can you say, AD Phil betrayed by the Lakers
for getting traded for Luka?
To a certain degree yet.
To your point, Joe, you just made, like,
got a championship here.
I thought we were building something,
me and the other guy,
and preaching that y'all want me to be number one when he's done.
Taking the keys.
Taking the keys and all these feel-good words.
But to eventually be basically in the middle of the night.
If you're going to do it,
like, they had a right to make the trade, right?
But inform the guy.
That's all.
Still go through with it.
Just don't let me hear it through my agent.
Like, they got a relationship, we this, we that.
Like, no.
Like, Rob called me, bruh.
Will that mess up the trade?
No.
If you just call...
The trade already happened.
The trade is already going down.
You're already doing it.
And if Rob Palinga picks up the phone and calls Anthony Davis,
and if Nico picks up the phone and calls Luca,
and let, like, it's that part of it.
Like, they didn't speak to either one of them.
It's that part of it that make them guys feel these ways.
Luca pressed conference here. The way he looked at,. So it's that part of it that make them guys feel these ways. When Luka
pressed conference here,
the way he looked at,
like, it's that.
It's that betrayal.
He's still betrayed.
It's the same thing
with Anthony Davis.
It's the same thing.
I won the championship.
Luka ain't won no championship.
But still, at the same time,
you probably hearing this,
like, oh, let me make sure
to get this shit over with
before they change their mind.
I ain't think about
calling no AD.
It's already going down.
I hear Luka, once we agreed on it, right? There's nothing that they can do about it. make sure to get this shit over with before they change their mind. I ain't thinking about calling no AD. It's already going down.
I hear Luka.
Once we agreed on it, right?
There's nothing that they can do about it.
Once teams have agreed on it.
If they said it's done.
Next call.
Nah.
But I think at that point.
Rob called fucking Anthony Davis.
Nico called Luka Dodgers.
And listen, this is what just happened.
This is what's going on right now.
I wanted you to hear it from me.
A trade like this, neither one of them got spoken to.
And wish you nothing but the best moving forward.
I think within 48 hours, I believe, if I'm not mistaken,
Rich Paul, like, the agent started to be alerted about it
once it got close to being finalized.
And I don't think you want to tell them too far in advance
because if it don't work, AD's pissed off for the rest of the year.
Yeah, but you wait till it's going.
You give them the news, I say, once it's agreed on, right?
Once the trade is agreed on and we didn't got the league involved,
we didn't call the league, we didn't do it, I do dealings in that regard,
then the next call should be them.
I don't think the avoidance of the player when, quote, unquote,
these players have meant so much to y'all.
Yeah.
So Anthony Davis helped you win the championship.
He's supposed to have been this for y'all.
Luka's supposed to have been meant.
Just a simple phone call would have, like you said,
lessened the sting, lessened the blow a little bit.
Still going to hurt.
Still going to be like, damn, I can't believe they.
But you gave me a heads up that this is what was going on.
I can see that.
But the fact that neither one of them got a call is crazy.
They got to be setting stone first.
That's what I'm saying.
Yeah, let it be set in stone.
Then give me the call.
Yeah.
So maybe disrespect, that might be a better word than betrayed.
I don't know.
Disrespect, yeah.
You know, I like to go for the.
Yeah, you're dramatic.
Tension grabbers.
I'm a dramatic human being.
So we asked the chat,
should AD feel betrayed by the Lakers?
53% said yes.
Would that let you know, though?
53% said yes.
47% said no.
And like I'm saying,
if I'm AD and I got traded for Luka and Dan,
you know, I'll be salty if it's like,
Daniel, I gave away five first picks in three seconds
and all this other stuff.
You ain't get traded for, like, peanuts.
I ain't special.
Just me for Luka, basically. That shit don't matter. You don't getting rid of them like peanuts. I ain't special. Just me for Luca, basically.
That shit don't matter.
You don't care about that other?
Hell no.
Who I got traded for?
You traded me.
Yeah.
You don't want me thinking about that.
You little fuck.
Yeah.
It's like, really?
No.
But it's one thing if I get traded for five first round pigs
versus I get traded for five second round pigs.
It don't matter.
I'm like, damn, I'm only worth.
But that could be five brownies, so you never know.
So I understand how you think.
There you go.
But now we heard AD drop a subtle so they say, or not so subtle.
Obviously he said it.
Nobody expected it.
So they say.
So they say.
When discussing if anyone knew about the trade, Mark Spears asked Eddie Howard's relationship with LeBron
has been since the trade.
Here was AD's response. He said,
ain't no change for me. It's a
business. People are saying that
LeBron knew of the trade because of the Marcus
Morris quote saying that James knew.
That comes out. LeBron is
saying he don't. At this point, whether he knew
or not, or whoever knew,
or it was quiet when
shams dropped the news it doesn't matter who knew it happened i think what did marcus morris say
so i think there was a brownie basically asked for marcus morris in the trade but
brian said he was at the crib oh and the news went down and he
damn it's my fear you know shit, you know what I mean?
You know what I'm saying?
It's a business.
I'm never going to give you the heads up.
I'm just going to invite you to a meeting at the crib.
Let you walk through the door and figure it out.
Wait, wait, wait.
So the Morris twins said,
Brian had said that?
No, so a report came out
that Brian had asked for Marcus Morris
as a part of the deal.
Damn, see, the Brian guy
has to start talking sometimes.
Yeah.
Of course LeBron knew.
You think he knew for real?
Not that far ahead, but I think he knew.
Hell yeah.
I think he knew once they was about to lock it in.
I don't think he knew that far ahead.
It ain't like you trading this boy for nothing.
Like, if you just trading Anthony Davis for...
Yeah.
Huh?
So, when did you think he found out?
When it was done already?
Before it was done.
Before it was done?
Absolutely.
When they picked the phone up to get ready to...
Absolutely.
Really? And we just... But Luca obviously doesn't know. He's blindsided by it. Yeah, he was. when they picked the phone up to get ready absolutely really
Luca obviously doesn't know he's blindsided by it
he was
I feel like the deal was done and then the first call
was Brian
they call him the GM
is it okay if we make this move
I don't think it's okay
they probably asked him
it was already done
this is what's about to transpire.
How do you feel about this?
Oh, it's cool.
All right, here you go.
We got it for you.
This is what's about to transpire.
Would you ever want to play with...
Would you ever want to play with Luka?
Okay.
How about right now?
Oh, really?
Then.
Who are we getting back?
Well, shit, make sure Mark's more is in it.
I think Markeith, right?
Markeith more.
Make sure Markeith more is in it.
Right? Yeah, it's probably like, we got to get somebody. Well shit makes your marks more sin. I think I'll marquee for a key more make sure Marky Morrison, right?
Yes, probably like this. We gotta get somebody they probably said this but I said PJ watch you like now I get
I'm just I don't know Could have been I wasn't
Hypothetical I wasn't I don't know what I'm not. I'm just putting words in the mail. I ain't saying it's there. The other game was Luka and P.J. for ADR.
Oh, Niko would have been out of there.
Just blow Dallas up.
Yeah, I think LeBron knew, to be honest.
Yeah.
I really do.
But that's a tough spot for him to be in.
But again, it's Luka, Donchick.
I think the only situation that he's been in that he had no say-so in controlling
was that situation in Miami.
When they took
his cookies?
Just the whole Pat Rodgers situation. That's the only
situation I think since he's
become him
that he's known every move
the team was going to make.
Do you think people would have been like...
The Cleveland team? The team that won the championship? You don't know. Do you think people would have been like, I know all that.
Both talking about Luka.
The team that won the championship,
you don't think he orchestrated that shit?
What about Luka?
What if they would have told LeBron, LeBron would have been
like, hell no, don't do that.
AD my homie, keep AD.
And then it came out later that he stopped it.
He stopped it.
I don't think it happens.
Well, LeBron, a savvy individual.
He trying to give the keys to somebody. That's what I'm saying.
I feel like AD and his real estate
is probably like, yeah, you don't think I can get the keys anymore?
I gotta...
You don't want to give me the keys anymore?
But that's the tough part.
I don't want to average 27-7-7.
Friendship's from business, right?
You do, yeah.
I want to average 22 22 2 & 2 and that's what I feel like at the end of day you gotta understand that's ad
I mean, that's Luca, you know, he's younger
Yeah
So that's why when I informed him you like absolutely
Yeah
And you and you like, the progress already.
I mean, like, yeah, if he wasn't down for it,
it wouldn't have happened.
Yeah, that's right.
Whether he knew before or after,
they had to get it.
They had to run it by him.
They picked, during the first initial cup of coffee,
he said when they presented it, no.
When the shit got real, when it was about to go down,
I'm, I'm, they called that man.
Nah, I think we can get Luca.
What you think was his first word?
Shit, yeah.
He probably said, huh? Give it to everybody.
Huh?
That's all they want?
What?
That's all they want?
They're throwing somebody else
just to make it,
dress it up a little bit more.
Yeah, put some more makeup.
Yeah, yeah.
Put some more makeup on this pig.
They can feel like they're getting something.
This divine swine.
Like, you got to say shit like, I really don't want to do this,
but I'd throw in, you know, Christie too, if you want to.
I don't really want to do it.
But if you insist.
Right?
You really want to.
Y'all can't have them.
What else you need?
I would love to see how those combos go down between you.
Like how?
That's what I'm saying.
Because Nico calls Rob initially.
They're just talking as friends.
I would have loved him to climb the wall when this shit was popping off.
Because what?
Like, I give you Luca, you give me AD.
Like, nigga, are you stupid?
That gotta have its own show.
For real.
That gotta be its own show right there.
Well, if you insist.
We really prioritizing defense.
Like, sure.
We just missing AD.
So we hear people, players, former and current,
talk about the business side, right?
Dealing with the business side.
You guys have all dealt with the business side of the league
during your careers. How long did it take you to come to grips
with the business side of basketball?
After my second season.
Damn.
Um... After my third season.
That's when you won it? After you won a championship?
That's when I got waved in the off season.
Ooh.
But no conversation.
I still don't know why they wived me. Yeah. So, when that
happened, I was like... No convo? Did you see these people after down the road?
Oh no, they'd be ducking me. Duck? Is it just... Plague! I actually had an interaction with one of the
people from the organization and we were leaving Shootaround, and we, like, crossed paths, and I walked right past her.
And then she was like,
"'You're not gonna speak?'
And I was like, "'Did y'all speak to me
when y'all cut me two years ago?'
Did you say that? Yeah.
Did you add any choice language in there?
No, but she was just like,
"'You know, it wasn't my call, and we handled that poorly.'"
I'm like, "'All right, cool't my call, and we handled that poorly.
I'm like, all right, cool, we cool now.
Some people just get hit with straight. But we're not cool, though.
But I'm like, whatever, because she even didn't have it.
Because our relationship should have nothing to do
with the decision they made.
Yeah, because I'm like, I said,
you still could have hit me later.
After the fact, they made the decision already.
Yeah, like, it happened, you didn't say nothing,
and I was like, that was weird.
That's a cop-out.
So she's like, it was just above me. I said, okay, whatever, girl. That's a cop out. So she's like, it was just above me.
I said, OK, whatever, girl.
That's cool.
But yeah, she's like, you're not going to speak?
I was like, no.
On business.
But some people don't like confrontation, too.
Some people like to have that conversation.
You can't not like confrontation and then disrespect people.
Like, you can't do that.
You're going to be a disrespectful,
make disrespectful choices. You've got to be ready to be confronted at some point. Oh, you can't do that. You're going to be a disrespectful, make disrespectful choices.
You've got to be ready to be confronted at some point.
Oh, yeah, yeah.
I'm talking about, yeah, yeah, yeah.
I don't know.
Like, walk around like this big bully, da, da, da, da,
and then they don't want to have a conversation with nobody.
Yeah, I was training my ass.
I was having the best off-season training.
The bubble had just finished.
And I was like, OK, when is training camp plans happening?
And it was just crickets.
So they cut me like a week before training camp.
Oh, you text that?
I had to ask my agent.
I said, what's going on?
Yeah, that's crazy.
And I was like, can you find out what is happening?
And they were like, oh, yeah, we're going to cut her.
Oh, by the way. A week before we had to report to camp. Oh, damn, we're going to cut her. Oh, by the way.
A week before we had to report to camp.
Oh, damn, we meant to call y'all.
Damn.
And it was crazy, too, because it was the first season after COVID,
so we had all these protocols that we had to go through.
And I was like, I had nowhere to go to training camp at.
One week before.
So, yeah, at that moment, I was like, oh, this shit is crazy. Will you hold onto that grudge forever, or?
Yes.
Or if there's a bag involved in it, would you?
For sure.
No, I will never go back there.
OK.
Uh-uh.
Damn.
Yeah, that shit wicked, man.
Like, my free agent shit went on with the Denver.
Like, there's no like, the Nets, like, I'm coming off
an all-star appearance. I'm top. Yeah, I hate that. The death, like, I'm coming off an All-Star appearance.
I'm top...
Yeah, like, career, games in the bubble, everything.
Crazy.
No.
Creation in...
Broke franchise record and steals in a game.
Damn.
Like, I was playing well in the bubble.
So I was like, what the fuck?
I got a concussion.
Had to leave.
And then I didn't hear from them after that.
Oh, damn.
Yeah. Damn. It Yeah, it was fucking...
Yeah, they never offered me, so...
Yeah, you talked about that situation a little bit.
Like you said, All-Star.
Game was in Staples, if I'm not mistaken, right?
Yeah.
Oh, they didn't offer you?
All-Star game.
New Jersey?
Agent.
Oh, was they just, like, talking?
No.
Like, I hated that part.
Like, GM was talking about you,
was trying to put you down before...
No, no, no, no, no, no. There was nothing they can do at that yeah no no they let the city the
thing is they let me go into my fourth year thinking right mmm going into my
the summer before my fourth year they offered me a contract and I was like
good money but I go and'll play this one out.
I made the All-Star team.
Now I'm a free agent, and free agents are stars.
You know, there's a whole lot of us out there, but I'm, at the time,
I was the biggest free agent.
Yeah, I love you, geek.
You might get that paper.
I'm thinking, like, Gage J. Kidd,. like the year before, like, 105 or something. I'm an all-star. I'm an all-star with one and two.
It's thang. Hey.
Can't have work without the...
Call it motherfucking Sprint. Like, hey, this shit still work?
Shit. Hey. Hey, man.
They just don't want to have a conversation.
I got three of these.
It's so weird. I got three numbers.
I got three phones at the time.
Shit, it's like shit.
At the side, Blackberry, all that.
In LA, shit.
Black.
At the side, you was flipping up a ring any day now.
Flip phone with the camera on it.
Got it all.
I'm about to take pictures of this.
One of these bitches got a ring, right?
I'm sitting there waiting.
What was it, LL at the time?
Whatever it was, motherfucker didn't call.
Nothing.
I'm sitting there, I tell my A-man,
what's happening, Jack?
A-man, I don't, I say, you probably want to call him.
I didn't want your agents to be like,
yeah, I don't know.
Do your job, find out.
But for me, it wasn't...
No. There was...
It was one of them situations. Like, this is
some real arrogant shit, but I shouldn't have to call
them. Yeah, you shouldn't have. You shouldn't have to.
Not at all. But you should be feeling yourself after
the season you just had. We lost to the Pizzas
I get it, but still, I'm still him
at that point. All-star.
Yeah.
Me and J.K. Like, no,
I'm number one pick
around this bitch.
It ain't like you
picked me motherfucking 28.
No, you picked me number one.
And I've,
every year,
we'd in two finals appearances,
all-star.
Number one pick.
Hey, man,
what y'all gonna do?
Nothing.
Man, you must have
punked the niggas.
No, it was a new
ownership group.
He gonna rip his tongue
down.
New ownership group.
He gonna pay me my contract.
So it was the group
that Jay-Z and them
was a part of.
They sold it.
Oh, yeah, yeah.
It was part of the 49%
and Bruce Radner
had 51% ownership.
And he had to
find him to say so.
So you never knew why.
The group of 49 said, yeah.
Everybody that made up this 49% said absolutely paying.
And the new people said no.
The guy that had 51% was like, pay who?
Y'all paid the other guy.
I wouldn't have paid him neither, but yeah
Paying money like that. We're not gonna pay him
So the phone never rang
So I didn't see that I've never met him. I seen him once
Since that decision in 20 years ago, but yeah, I've seen him one time
And I saw him all-star weekend was here the negative and I was at a bowling event
Michael straight and had a bowling event. Michael Strayhan
had a bowling event at Lucky Strike
at LA Live.
And one of the season ticket holders back
then was at the event.
He's like, I got somebody I want you to meet.
He didn't tell me who he was.
Did he know that?
I don't know if he knew, but he knew of this because he was
Kenyon, Bruce Ratner, Bruce Ratner, but he knew of this because he was... Yeah.
Kenyon Bruce Ratner, Bruce Ratner Kenyon.
He wanted you to whoop his ass right there.
And the man, guess what the man... Guess what this man's words was to me?
Hope there's no hard feelings.
Oh, so he knew.
Boo.
I hope there's no hard feelings.
Ew.
That's crazy.
Yeah, business of sports is nuts.
Hey, young...
Nice to meet you, sir. You have a good evening?
That was the first thing he said to you?
Yeah. And I did exactly...
Nice to meet you, sir. Have a good evening.
And I walked the fuck off.
He doesn't want to get socked.
No, because you understood that, like,
the day I signed with the Nuggets, right?
The day that it was announced I wasn't coming back,
they lost half of their season ticket holders, man.
Like, it was real.
Who'd they get back?
Nothing.
Oh, that's when they had to do the trade.
To get Vince.
Yeah.
This was a year after.
Yeah.
Right?
You had to do something because them people's pissed.
Yeah. For sure. Two finals do something because them people's pissed.
Yeah, for sure.
Two finals, all-star, number one pick, we ain't been nothing forever, and now you decide,
like, don't let this man walk for some picks that didn't end up being nothing?
It was some picks.
Like, just do some picks.
Like, here you get signing trade.
You can lose him for nothing because he's leaving.
You can sign and trade him or you can get you some picks back
and try to save him.
No, Keith is gone already.
Oh, shit.
Kerry Kittles?
When I left, Kerry was still there, RJ and J. Kidd.
Good luck.
And they ain't did shit since.
I used to like Kerry Kittles in college.
They ain't did shit since. Yeah, I liked the Kerry Kittles in college. They ain't did shit since.
With the one soccer.
Yeah, I liked the Kerry Kittles
in college.
We tried to make that work out
in this way.
It didn't feel right.
The league told him
he couldn't do it.
For real?
That's why he didn't do it
in the league.
Damn.
He did it his rookie year,
I think, and they stopped it.
He did it early on
and they stopped it.
That's one of the more legendary.
Right.
You always think about
Kerry Kittles, man.
Knew all his natives, baby.
So last question I got for y'all.
What's it like joining a new team after a trade or free agency?
How long did it take you to get comfortable in your new environment?
So Kane, all-star.
Nets will offer you the bread.
You end up going to the Nuggets.
Are you salty about that situation?
And how long did it take you just to kind of clear your mind
and look ahead to your new team?
Bittersweet um when it first goes down like i said i was i i thought i was gonna be in jersey for a while uh because there had been nothing forever and we find irrelevant within
the game again and i'm a big part of it.
So I don't think it's ever going to change.
So to your point, I learned about the business of basketball
after year four, right?
That was part of the conversation we was having.
So I learned about the business of basketball after year four.
Damn, well, that's tough because it was a new owner.
And to get acclimated in a new situation
i went about it um i think in the right manner
because when i got to denver mellow was only in his second year
they made the playoffs here before, but still,
I was Max Guy coming in with the name.
So I could have easily came in there and with fucking black Tims on and...
Right?
I need 20 shots tonight.
I need, like, easily.
I had the leverage.
Yeah, he wasn't no Jason Kidd passer
neither though.
Say it again?
He wasn't a Jason Kidd.
But it wasn't about that though.
It ain't about Melo being a passer or not.
Yeah.
I could have directly
affected Melo's growth.
Yeah, for sure.
Had I went there with my chest poked out.
People don't understand that. I could Had I went in there with my chest poked out. People don't understand that, like,
I could have easily went in there and demanded
all the touches he was getting, all the shots he was getting.
I could have easily demanded that.
Because, like I said, I had the leverage.
But I went in there and I was like, let, like, I took a...
Do you, young fella? Like, get mine I'm I don't care like do you he was
showing that he was gonna be that he was showing he was gonna be that so it would have been selfish
of me to and I'm not a selfish basketball player so do you young fella I do everything I do what
I'm what I know what I'm gonna do So you just do continue to grow and be that.
And I think it benefited us as a team as so.
But right away though, I'm saying I got acclimated right away
because different thought process.
Damn.
Delixia, how about yourself?
I wasn't comfortable in the WNBA until my second year with the Sparks.
And then I was playing that way, and then I got sick.
So that was just, like, real frustrating.
But it was nice to finally feel comfortable
and being able to prove myself
and showing people the type of player that
I could be in the league. Now going to Seattle, like since now I'm no longer sick, I think about
the game differently. I think about my profession a little bit differently and I'm like going in
with like a very different mindset that I have in the past about it and I'm really excited and it's like it's work to me now like ultimate professional I'm a year eight
there's gonna be expectations set for me and the rest of the team so I feel
really comfortable and then I had a really great season in Nashville so but
yeah I mean I went through the first five years of my career just looking
over my shoulder constantly and never feeling wanted or accepted on the team I was on.
And so I really got to the Sparks.
So it was nice.
I mean, how it ended in L.A. was like not the greatest, but like I'm really grateful for my time in L.A.
It was like very transformational for me.
We were salty as well.
Like turning up, going to Staples Center, supporting you.
Still got our Lexi shirts.
Yeah, y'all just got to pull up when we come to town.
We will be in the Pacific Northwest.
Climate Pledge Arena, beautiful city of Seattle.
What's why you're so happy?
It was actually good for me.
I was happy, you know, I was coming back home to LA. Same
day I got traded, little Nick was born, so I got a chance to come home and see him. That
was pretty dope, you know. But that's when I kind of learned the business as players being on the Clippers,
you know, from Chris Paul, you know, making decisions.
And, yeah, that organization was kind of messed up.
So I learned a lot from being there, just to tell you.
I was happy to come back home, then life happened again.
I'm glad you said that, brother.
People thought I was just back on the road, man.
What, the Clippers?
No, they thought I didn't like Chris Paul.
Oh, Chris Paul.
That's just crazy.
What was the issue?
No, he's a politician.
Yeah.
For real.
That's why I couldn't come back.
I'll just state it to you.
He's really good at basketball.
He's really good at basketball.
One of the greatest point guards ever.
Politician, too.
Politician, too, for sure.
He's going to go in that mother and close that door behind him and have a conversation.
That's all.
And none of us is included in those conversations, though.
How many seasons were you on the Clippers?
Just a half a season.
We was doing a lockout that season after the lockout.
So it was a short season.
Hey.
We was together.
A short stint.
A short stint.
Sterling, still the Sterling Clippers.
Yeah, yeah.
Short stint.
That's a different.
That was a different time.
Made the playoffs, got them out there motherfucking.
Hey.
You heard T and them called them soft.
So we came in the game.
Hey, listen, dawg.
Why ain't that a pick for you?
They want nothing to do with us.
Me, you, Reg, all of us is gone, right?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Next year.
Got y'all about it, Aaron?
Mm-hmm.
I was with the Knicks next year.
Where'd you go next?
Philly.
Mm.
Fucked up from fucked up from fucked up.
I'm telling you, people don't understand
how many players just be in
weird situation after weird
situation after weird situation.
That shit is not easy to deal with.
It was Andrew Bynum's season
first year. He didn't play.
He was walking around with that damn James Brown fro.
Fucking looking crazy.
It was just...
I almost just said, fuck it, I'm done.
You don't take shit serious, bro.
Like, nothing.
But it's so serious.
It's so serious.
It's funny, but it's so serious.
It's funny, but it's serious, man.
We remember that Andrew Bynum look.
He had the dress.
Yes.
Them brown fro, fucking red loafers every day with, he wore them red loafers with shorts,
practice, suits, the same thing.
The comb front fro.
The comb fro.
It was a comb front fro.
If you could visualize that in your head.
It wasn't going,
baby was going this way.
Yeah, it was going frontwards.
Helmet down.
It's interesting work.
Yeah.
It's understandable.
Yeah.
All right, let's keep this thing moving.
Underdog is launching a Gills Arena NBA playoff
best ball tournament with a $50,000 prize pool.
Draft the team for the entirety of the playoffs.
Compete against everyone on this couch
and the rest of y'all in the chat.
First place not only wins $5,000,
but we're also flying you out to watch an episode
of Gills Arena live in studio.
Tournament is live right now.
Draft before it fills.
And you may even see us in the draft lobby
in the near future. I have a feeling
it's going to be very, very soon.
We have a link in the chat to the NBA lobby. Find the tournament
there. We will be drafting
our Gills Arena best ball teams this
Thursday. So stay tuned
for that. It's going to be a very productive Thursday on the couch.
If you've seen Gil and he's looked like he hasn't been
locked in on the show recently, it's because
he's been doing best ball teams.
He's got about 75 teams.
He walked through the room during the show.
Shit is like bingo.
He always getting his drafts going,
asking us who he should pick,
not listening to my questions,
but nonetheless, he still cuts the checks.
So I love him and respect him.
Yeah, we hope you're having fun in New York.
What?
How y'all brackets look?
I don't know, but I'm still alive.
Nasty.
I don't know. How I look? I was Nasty. I don't know how I look.
I was about to say, I wanted to see them papers.
Huh?
Auburn.
Good job, man.
Listen, I don't...
But what else has happened before now?
Auburn's still alive, so...
My dumb ass wanted to see upsets.
I got two.
I picked one upset early.
I just, like I said, I thought about it.
Ain't nobody playing them schools, man.
But you know when you're doing the bracket, it's like like I can't just have all the one seeds go through and then
And guess what happened this year? Great ones.
They just not gonna kill any.
I got Houston playing Duke in the final four but I got Duke winning.
I don't know who I got on the other side.
I picked one.
I had Auburn losing.
All one seeds is crazy.
I don't know why.
And it wasn't because I watched the teams I just don't like the mascot.
Yeah, yeah.
I had a bad experience there one time.
This upset looks fun.
No, we didn't have none of those this year.
We had like one upset this year.
First round?
First round.
Not even first round.
The 5-12 upset, right?
Or 5-12?
Wasn't it a 5-12 game?
I think there was only like two or three upsets.
All the Sweet 16 was all power conferences.
Yeah.
Now all the number one seeds in the 90.
Boring.
Which is what we should want, but for some reason.
I know what I'm saying.
Cinderella.
I don't want to see all the best teams compete against each other, but Salty now.
Cinderella's rare.
UCSD didn't give me an upset like I needed.
What?
San Diego.
Dog Bowl.
We were just at Dog Bowl. That's the same thing. That's why we was at Dog Bowl. We were? San Diego. Dog Bowl. We were just at Dog Bowl.
That's the same thing.
That's why we was at Dog Bowl.
We were for San Diego.
But let's move on to Mostly Fans, presented by the good folks at Underdog.
Download the app, use promo code GIL, get up to $1,000 in bonus cash, plus a special
pick-em.
So we have one question from Underdog user Bacon92AJ.
Bacon92AJ, very curious how you came up with that Underdog username. One question is from underdog user bacon92aj.
Bacon92aj.
Very curious how you came up with that underdog username.
But do you think the Clippers will trade Harden or Kawhi if they're not successful in the playoffs?
No.
No.
But what does successful in the playoffs mean?
Winning?
That's the better question for bacon.
Hell no.
Yeah, I think they just stay there forever.
They just stay.
They don't ever leave.
So this is the thing, people.
I don't know if you know what's the dude named Bacon.
Bacon whatever, something, something.
You have to have two teams that's willing to make a trade.
You got to have multiple people.
You just can't trade with yourself.
But Harden player option after this season.
He ain't going nowhere.
Slater to make $36 million.
Do you think what they expect?
Player option?
Yeah, it's a player option.
He's opting into the 36.
For sure.
After the season he's had?
Yeah.
Really?
You don't think he can get more?
He signed an extension, but it won't be much.
If he can add on to it, but it ain't going to sign a two-year, three-year extension, but it won't be nothing crazy.
But with the CBA...
If he goes to another team for more money,
he gonna have to be doing more.
He's gonna have to produce more.
He did shoot for three years.
I think he likes his little role that he's in right now.
But I think James Harden worth more than $36 million.
Maybe I'm tripping.
But I think he likes his little role.
What he's done, making the playoffs now,
should be every single season of his career
is bounced back from kind of some of those negative connotations around him.
Maybe he's taking a pay cut for the betterment of what he's trying to do.
A 280?
Maybe it's that.
Maybe he's really trying to go win one.
Maybe he's putting his team first.
But I feel like he's done that.
He's trying to win with the Clippers.
He's trying to prove that he can do it here.
So he's putting his team first.
So maybe it's that important to him now to
win so at 36 and you can add an extension on to it where those numbers he just signed a two-year
70 right yeah so two years 80 so he's a two-year 70 then another two years if they don't win yeah
it's cool but because you their their time is ticking. They got about two years.
They got Norm Powell playing out his... So you still need to have...
Norm Powell also in the final year is due next year.
So now you got to have...
So he's going to get his bread first.
You got to have money to pay Zubac Young.
He might leave.
Zubac playing out his mind.
Zubac under contract through 2028.
He might leave.
He's not going to be asking for more bread
for at least a couple more seasons.
I'm just saying, you know what I mean?
True, I get you. I dig it.
Looking at how just the landscape,
Norpau should be able to get an extension this offseason.
Harden has the ability to opt out,
but y'all think just take the 36 and figure it out.
Or it'll be an extension.
Yeah, it'll be an extension.
Another two for whatever.
Two for whatever.
So it'll be around the same numbers, I think.
But if I see Jimmy get two for 110 or whatever that is from the Warriors
I'm just saying like
Totally
Absolutely got the money
He has the leverage to answer that, absolutely.
But does it, like we were saying with LeBron, right,
does it benefit them trying to win? Yeah.
For him to go in there and get the maximum amount of money
that he can possibly get if he's trying to win.
Harden averaging 23-9-6 in 72 games this season.
Been available, been playing.
That was a pay cut he took, right?
I mean, I wouldn't argue that. Absolutely. But wanted to stay in L.A., so I was like, all right, available, been playing. That was a pay cut he took, right? I mean, I wouldn't argue that.
But wanted to stay in L.A.
So I was like, alright, look, Artie. And then be the same
situation again.
Because it's like, Artie did it in Philly, seeing what happened.
Now I came over here, I did it.
But he wanted to be here, though.
He wanted to be here. He wanted to be home. He wanted to be in L.A.
So there's a difference.
But feel like he's, I've honored
that contract and I performed. He sacrificed and he's I've honored that contract I perform
Yeah, that's nice, and he's honored it over perform even when Kawhi was hurt beginning the other day
Yeah, like and yeah, we still in play. I'll be surprised if he asks for more don't know go
I'm not saying I wouldn't be surprised if he did
He's Stan L I'd be surprised if the Clippers didn't
Take care of him as best they can like look we got up
We got much more pain as much as we can. Like, look, we got other people. We got to pay norms. As much as we can.
As much as we can after what Paul George looked like, right?
I'm just saying, like, he stayed and, you know.
I'll say, give me my 212.
Fuck what y'all talking about.
Yeah, that's it.
He can't go in there like that.
He can't go in there.
Well, I did the three for 153, if I'm not mistaken. He can't go in there like that. You can't go in there... Why did the three for 153, if I'm not mistaken?
You can't go in there doing that.
I want the same as Kawhi.
So much money.
Damn.
You know what I mean?
At least give me...
Damn, damn, damn.
Two for 100.
So who's the smart one in that situation?
Philly or Clippers?
For what situation?
The Paul George one?
Yeah.
What, when he got traded?
Yeah, because he...
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean... You know what I'm saying? Like, he got the traded? Yeah, because he was...
I mean...
You know what I'm saying? Like, he got the 2-1.
Like, the Clippers, like... Clippers, obvious.
Like, Clippers, like, goddamn, we should have paid them.
I don't think the...
Based on how this season was played out,
Clippers felt like...
I don't think they're regretting that decision at all.
Hindsight.
Yeah, exactly.
Always.
Always.
Don't miss. Hindsight, don. Always.
Don't miss.
Hindsight, don't miss.
So.
Well, on that note, appreciate everybody.
Like I said, great to have you back on the couch,
have you celebrate.
We're doing this a million subs, probably, you know,
rest of the season.
Have some things in the works for you guys.
As you know, I can get on the phone with Underdog,
request things, just for y'all, you know.
Kendrick Sweet,
just basic things.
Yeah.
Gilzerini Yacht has been thrown out.
Oh, yeah.
If you want,
I'll take a picture with you
with the million-dollar subscriber.
With the plaid knickers?
With the plaid.
Just so you can feel
like you're a part, you know.
If you want to touch it.
They gave us the AI statue.
April Fool's!
Somebody! Ha-ha! Trick you! I was going to take a picture If you want to touch it. April Fool's. April Fool's. I'm out of here.
Tricked you.
I was going to take a picture with you.
The fuck?
April Fool's, motherfucker.
Why don't you leave it already?
Lexi, appreciate you as well.
Well, apparently that is what it is.
It's not over yet, baby.
Gil, have fun at the McDonald's game.
We look forward to watching Elijah cook tonight.
This has been another episode of Gilills Arena presented by Underdog.
Whoa, whoa.
We will see y'all tomorrow.
Oh, bye.
