Starting point is 00:00:00 Hello and welcome to Girls Gone Canon reads A Song of Ice and Fire. Episode 268, Denaries 6 in a dance with dragons. I'm one of your hosts, Chloe. And I am another one of your host, Eliana. Did it in one take this time? Thank you, Eliana. That's an Easter egg for I guess some of you, but honestly it was cute. I thought it was really cute, and I think it would have been fun to open it up.
Starting point is 00:00:48 I learned to read Roman numerals last week. You know what? Not all of us can be good at it as I am. Uh-huh, uh-huh. Yeah, you, you who has always read every Roman numeral. Wait, remember like three weeks ago when you couldn't read the lightning round? Well, no, that's what I'm referring to when I did such a terrible job. In fact, not everyone can read it as well as I can, because everyone can read it, like, better.

Starting point is 00:03:08 C-A-N-O-N Indeed well we've definitely gotten like some messages of note but we want to make sure that we have like the editor and attention to give to them, so we will
Starting point is 00:03:23 come back to those at a later episode. It is a struggle week. Yeah, we'd be struggling. We'll tell you more about some of that, probably, during this episode. It's very timely. You guys, Chloe's alive and let's be thankful. Yeah, you want Thanksgiving, motherfuckers?
Starting point is 00:03:41 I lived, bitch. I lived. That's Thanksgiving. Yeah. Let's hop into our lightning round. That's right, what you missed between Danny 5 and Danny 6. Starting with Melisandra 1. We get a look behind the curtain in Melisandra 1.
Starting point is 00:04:02 Reek 3. Sounds like week 3. Reek 3. Theon is presented to Barbary Dustin at Barrow Hall. Tyrion 8. Abort a cog and root to Carth. Tyrion and Penny put the past behind them, and Tyrion grows closer to Macoro.
Starting point is 00:04:20 Interesting. interesting brand three brand snacks on some weird wood paste and trips balls not all lightning rounds are created equal guys no John 7 John holds down the fort
Starting point is 00:04:37 while Stannis takes Deepwood Mott Deepwood Mott Applesauce and that brings us here to De Neri 6 where if you have trauma about global pandemics and this chapter
Starting point is 00:04:50 just like it might not be for you. Might not be for any of us. You know, my lesson from reading this chapter is like, honestly, I don't know what she could have done as a person who survived a global pandemic. I don't know what she could have done. Yeah, I don't know that we've learned a lesson. I don't know that we've learned a lesson. She does not have the technology for it. So I don't know.
Starting point is 00:05:12 Why didn't Danny build the technology? That's so messed up. What a bad. No, I'm just kidding. I'm just kidding. I don't know. We open the chapter. With the stench of the camp, nearly making Danny gag,
Starting point is 00:05:27 Sir Barrison urges her to return to the city, but she refuses. Viseries had oft claimed Targarians were untroubled by the pestilences that afflicted common men. And so far as she could tell, it was true. She could remember being cold and hungry and afraid, but never sick. I'm so jealous. I'm sick all the time. I feel like, even though I know. know I got sick as a child. It was never this bad shit, dude. Never. Maybe it was. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:05:58 Who knows? It's really funny because I wrote a note about being jealous about her not getting sick, literally two days before I had to spend an evening in ER recently. Yeah. It was a harrowing adventure for Chloe and honestly like my poor girl. Yeah, me. I'm the poor girl. Yeah. Suck it, Danny. But yeah, it was terrible. terrible. I don't recommend it. If there's anything that I can tell you about this country falling the fuck apart and like where its money is going and where the budget votes from. Oh shit. Go to an ER on a Saturday night and let me know how it goes. Yeah. Sad. Like, yeah. So shit's rough even today with our modern technology. And also, I don't know. I heard De Neres was probably sick sometimes. She just like didn't really maybe remember it. Like I'm going to argue that whatever she went through. with Rago and the aftermath and like beforehand like that's technically being sick being sick is just your body's sick you know maybe it's not yeah it may or may not have
Starting point is 00:07:01 been like born from bacteria or a virus whatever but she was still sick so I think that like the fact that she believes Viseria is being like yeah we're different we don't get we don't get pestilences that afflict the common men I guess what did they get like fancier ones, A, first of all, but B, like, I think that's why it's kind of important for her to meet Fagan and John, even if, like, Agan is a blackfire because a blackfire is still technically like Targaryen in terms of the blood. Because, again, she's only really had one source of truth of what it means to be a Targaryen, and so she thinks, like, oh, this is, this is what it means for us in our family. This is the certain mold that I have. I've only ever had one
Starting point is 00:07:45 example of what that looks like, and getting to see other people do that, is like, oh, but we can be different, right? Like, same as we see with Tyrion's story and a bunch of the other characters. Your family name doesn't really have to define who you will be. Like, obviously it's going to define your experiences because you're around those people, but
Starting point is 00:08:04 those things aren't necessarily, like, inherent to you, but also maybe you do get sick. Yeah, there was an interesting thread on the Rasswaffe Reddit today, where someone was kind of arguing about John
Starting point is 00:08:20 being like his father, his, not his daddy, his father. Oh, okay. Being like Ragar and like saying, like, how do we know he's not like Rhaegar? And a lot of other people are like, oh, are you saying genetics passes down personality trades? Is it nature versus nurture, et cetera? But like, it did make me think about how, you know, in Danny's mind, all Targaryans are
Starting point is 00:08:43 the same, right? Because she doesn't know any. All she knows is Viceris. She's never met any others. How could she see them as different? All she can see is, like, vastly smoke-shaped beings that were her relatives. Yeah, it's like a different flavor of you and me being like, I don't really know what siblings is like, you know? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:02 It's a different version of that, much more extreme. But, yeah, it sounds to me like that thread was saying his jeans are blue, JK, JK. In the words of Lana Del Rey, blue jeans. I mean, sometimes they are in literature, like, that's the point, right? or sometimes they are just because you're raised in that environment. But, yeah, I do think George makes it a point to be like, but look, they're different within the same family. I will also say, so it's like both.
Starting point is 00:09:33 I mean, obviously sometimes he's doing that. I don't know. Who knows if he's like Rhaegar or not? He's a sad boy, but so is his daddy. Yeah. So. I mean, it's most important that he, like, becomes his own man. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:09:45 Whatever he chose. And whatever he, shut up. I do not have time. to cry right now in this pot. I do not have the time. I do not have the time. I will say, and if this is like a stance that I've held for a long time, I think that the lack of illness amongst the Targaryans has way more to do with like the isolation of nobles than necessarily like magic blood and access to more hygienic practices and better nutrition, which means you have better health to do things also like healers, stuff like that. So there's just normal kind
Starting point is 00:10:15 of like social determinants of health shit. Yeah, like that's a classic. being able to have access to medicine and health care. And also, like, no one's giving you the mayor up on your fucking dragon in the air. You know what I mean? Like... Yeah. And you're not drinking dirty water. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:35 And they're only breathing, like, the same air from their brother and or sister's mouths into their own mouth. Like... Yeah, exactly. And, like, you're, I don't know. You're not dealing with no offense, like, literally the filth, right? And... Literally.
Starting point is 00:10:47 We'll get to that in a second. I've had a... some harrowing experiences twice in one... No, wait, no, four times in one day yesterday on the sidewalk. Oh, my God. Anyway, despite... Oh, God. No, it was a lot.
Starting point is 00:11:02 Despite Barriston's concern and the rest of her commander's concern, Danny insists on staying to witness the suffering. They rode through a sea of sick and starving people. They were all begging for food and help, and she had sent healers, but womp-womp, they two had fallen ill, unsurprisingly. It turns out separating the sick from
Starting point is 00:11:19 the healthy had failed and the food supplies were dwindling and honestly this is like probably pretty realistic and an actual concern when it comes to refugee camps but also as you pointed out like the healer's falling ill like this was this was a thing we all experienced together globally everyone yeah what do you do you know what do we're about to navigate that with danny right because she wants to go look she wants to see what's going on down there uh and i really do respect that, right? She's very adamant the whole time that she needs to go down there. She needs to see it. She needs to participate. She needs to help. A lot of that we've seen her carrying that guilt, right, that she's carrying that drove her to go down there. And she trots
Starting point is 00:12:03 through on her silver, hoping that it gives some strength, some faith, some hope. And she's accompanied by Barristan, Jogo, Ago, Recaro, Simon Stripeback of the Free Brothers and Marcellin of the mother's men, with three score soldiers following behind the captains to protect the food. Marcellin reports that many of the Astopori have resorted to cannibalism. Eliana's favorite word. Eliana entered the chat, F in the chat. Behind them trailed children.
Starting point is 00:12:37 They are weak and gaunt and some speaking tongues that she doesn't understand, others beyond speaking. Many lift their hands up to Danny, and they call out, Mother, and their different dialects. Mother, please. Mother, help my sister. She's sick. Give me food for my little ones. Please, my old father, help him, help her, help me. I have no more help to give, Danny thought despairing. Ooh, kind of reminds me in that last chapter, there's that line about, We thought you had mounted your dragon to come save us. We saw dragon wings in the
Starting point is 00:13:14 sky, but like it was probably just Drogon, vibing, looking for a snack, man, this girl can't catch a break. Poor Danny. Honestly, like you were saying, it's respectable that she's down there, and honestly, like, I don't think it's a bad, it's a bad decision in some ways, but I don't think it's a bad decision in other ways, right? Like, in the same way that it was bad to pull D'Roffrey from the Battle of the Blackwater to an extent, because of the morale.
Starting point is 00:13:40 Like, I think what she's doing is actually very important and good for the morale, because let's be real, like, the morale plays a non-zero amount in one's ability, like, health. Like, placebo effect is fucking real. But, yeah. I'll believe anything if you, like, put it in a nice enough sack of shit for me, you know? I've definitely, like, heard people being like, I don't know, sometimes I have a friend. This may be kind of weird.
Starting point is 00:14:05 She told me that, like, back, I don't know, maybe she still does this. If she's, like, feeling unwell or sick, she is reluctant sometimes to take, like, I don't know, Tylenol or ibuprofen or whatever. So she'll, like, pretend. She'll take an air pill and, like, literally, she says she feels better, like, after that. So I'm just saying. I totally got that, though. I try to, like, lay off it as much as possible.
Starting point is 00:14:29 And, like, that way, if I really need it, I really need it. But I like that idea. I got to try that. Yeah. It could be interesting. And I'm all about, like, an inspiring, you know, inspiring morale, speech. Like, that's me. I love a good speech.
Starting point is 00:14:42 I love a good morale boost. Or, like, Patch Adams, you know. No? Yes. No, I'm being so serious right now. I know you are. Like Eliana said that with her whole chest. So the pleas here, right, of help him, help her, help me, and how that comes through and all of like these ellipsies in this quote of mother, help me, help mother, give, whatever.
Starting point is 00:15:05 The way that it comes in these threes feels really evocative of the way that the house of the end dying delivered prophecies of like, show her, tell her. whatever but they said it like very rude and I'm not saying that this is a prophecy but I am saying that it's tying together vibes across books yeah it's quite literally an echo like across books every single book she is being pulled so are you just thinking about Hades 2 right now I'm thinking about Hades 2 right now I could see it in your face and your heart and your soul but like it is an echo that's tying together the books right like these are voices that are haunting her from book to book changing as they go. Yeah. Oh, good point. Good point.
Starting point is 00:15:48 Well, you started it. Oh. Corpses are littering the camp. The smell is not good, is how it's described mostly, I would say. Not good. Danny is feeling pretty powerless about it all, as I
Starting point is 00:16:04 could imagine. There's no shelter. There's no medicine. She can only offer them small rations of stale bread, wormy meat, hard cheese, a little milk. Ago says they should be burned, but Barrison says, who's going to burn them? A hundred people die per night. Oh, I just realized.
Starting point is 00:16:22 This is long night coded too. Because who would I be if I didn't say that? Oh, my fucking God. What's also long night coded is the cannibalism that's happening. And honestly, the decision comes to start burning them. Partially comes from the cannibalism because, uh, A, first of all, interesting parallel. to the extent of, like, the issues that Stannis is facing right now, people are sick because he's making them trudged through the snow, and they're also literally cannibalizing each other as well. But the drawback of cannibalism when it comes to all these things is it does allow illness to spread.
Starting point is 00:16:59 That's part, that is actually a reason why people do not eat people. Because it, I mean, like, I don't know, it's easier for illness to spread between the same species. Right? Yeah. And also prions, which I used to think were pronounced prions, but I was an idiot. I was a young girl, and you lived on the ways of war. And by that, I mean, I think I found out the proper pronunciation like a few months ago. You're always learning.
Starting point is 00:17:24 I'm always growing. I cannot believe you said the words, drawback to cannibalism in a sentence. I never thought I'd hear you say that. This is a crazy fucking day. A lot of things are happening for me this week, this year, who are we? We're always different. Not to do with cannibalism, by the way, listeners, dear listeners. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:46 The things happening are not about cannibalism for Aliana. Just put that out there. Do not investigate us. Maybe metaphorically. We are on a list or 10. Anyways, so she remarks upon, like, there's a man that she sees, like, lying on the ground with a black cloak, but as she gets near, the black cloak dissolves into, like, a thousand flies. This reminds me, A, of some of the stuff in Astipore,
Starting point is 00:18:10 but be like me walking. I think this was yesterday. This is a harrowing adventure I went on yesterday. I burst went like to like a nearby park and then there was just like a little patch. I thought it was just like a small one, right, of patch of like flies on the ground. But no, there were multiple other smaller patches of flies on the ground because they were gathered around like I guess a patch smears of poop. And then I walk further down. and then there was another
Starting point is 00:18:40 I just thought it was like you know a black twig or something but no it exploded into another million flies and near it was also a paper bag also full of it. This would have been such a good conversation for brunch holy shit
Starting point is 00:18:54 I'm sorry it didn't happen yet I know oh no we did this it happened to me a third time and then I'm going to the grocery store I'm walking to the grocery store and on the one side of the road
Starting point is 00:19:05 there's a giant dukees also covered in flies. And I was like, oh my god. And I was like, I'm just hoping like I'm not stepping into like the small little patches that have gotten smeared. And then so I decide to walk back on the other side of the street to go home from the grocery store. And you know what? As soon as I passed the fucking like bus stop thingy, like on another explosion of flies, because there was another giant ducky right there. And so four times, four times did this happened to me. Four treasons you will know. All poop. God, I just gagged a little. It was bad. There's no way to know, but all dog shit? I don't think so. Question marks. I don't think so.
Starting point is 00:19:50 Oh, no. They say he's still out there today, shitting himself. I think some might have been based on the side, but I don't know. I don't know. Yeah, how would you know? I don't know, but I don't, I actually don't think, especially because some of them were in a paper bag, like, I don't think so. also like nothing's worse than insects doing an embodiment all at once like a bajillion of them rising like a veil like that's the worst yeah at least like it more to you don't step in the thing but I was like why is this happening to me please go away and I was like ah as I like went through like a cloud and it was just a cloud do not touch me oh so all that said everything you just said disgusting thanks for saying it really appreciate it
Starting point is 00:20:34 and I'm glad we're gross together. Like, I was showing you gross stuff earlier. You're talking about gross stuff. You know, girls just want to be gross. I don't wish to be that kind of gross. No, I never want to, I hope you never see poop again like that. That's fucked up. It was four times in one outing.
Starting point is 00:20:52 I'm so sorry that this happened to you. What is wrong with redacted place that you live? I don't know. Anyway. I mean, I saw a barrel on fire the first time I went there. Oh, that's true. How exciting. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:05 That was like my first feeling about redacted. I was like, oh, what an impression to have, that and shit. Yeah, yeah. The black cloak dissolving into a thousand flies, and all of this does remind me of Drogo, right, and his death and all the flies that were attaching themselves to him. So I'm sure this could be triggering the shit out of Danny right now, too. So there's that. That's true. That's true. Yeah, there's a lot, a lot going on in regards to that.
Starting point is 00:21:38 I will, I guess, I'm thinking about the long night. There won't be any flies on the corpses there. Because cold? Yeah, no, actually. Cold and undead. Thank God for the night king, am I right? I bet the night king doesn't, I mean, he's not going to resurrect the flies, unless he thinks like it's important for like some sort of swarm thing,
Starting point is 00:21:56 because he's going to be like, this isn't worth the effort and magic. Unless you're there. If you were there, Eliana, during the long night, but Night King would for sure Resi those flies. I would say in regards to that, people should read the web serial called Worm slash Parahumans.
Starting point is 00:22:12 Shea actually like... Oh, worm? Yeah, she and I like... She's one of the very few people I know who like read this and it's very long, but it's about kind of, it's kind of a superhero story but not and the main character controls bugs.
Starting point is 00:22:26 Hmm. It's pretty interesting, actually. I love it. I love that. I love that. Speaking of, he's not a bug, but his name is gray worm, so. He doesn't bug me. He doesn't.
Starting point is 00:22:39 He doesn't bug anyone. What a sweetheart. Yeah, so Denary speaks to him about, like, maybe having the unsullied, do the burning of the bodies, but Barristan tells her, I don't think that's a good idea because you shouldn't lose this illness amongst your best fighters, which you know what? That is actually a very good point. On Barrison's part, that is perhaps not the best use of the people you need to have best bodies. They end up probably
Starting point is 00:23:03 agreeing a little, but anyways, Danny thinks that they should get more food to the ill to make them stronger so that they can burn their own. But Simon Stripeback says, maybe you shouldn't waste food on the dying when they barely have enough food to feed the living, which, like,
Starting point is 00:23:19 I don't know that I agree with that, but at the same time, like, I don't know. There's, like, no good choices here. Yeah, no choices that are good whatsoever. Like, what are you supposed to do? Starve them? Well, yeah, because, like, the thing is, if you don't feed them enough, like, how are they going to fight off the illness? They can't.
Starting point is 00:23:37 And it'll just spread even more. It's all, like I was saying about the fucking hospital room. Yeah. You are choosing. You are making a budgetary choice if you do not feed them. Yeah, it's a triage. You are choosing who lives and who dies. I mean, it is.
Starting point is 00:23:51 You kind of have to. Like, I mean, they do, that's just kind of how it works, but, like, I don't, I couldn't do this. I literally could not work in a hospital. No way. Just so you know, I faint at blood. The riders try to keep order as the afflicted rush toward the food, and Danny watches her heart heavy with hopelessness. Wait your turn, they shouted.
Starting point is 00:24:13 No pushing. Back. Stay back. Bread for everyone. Wait your turn. Danny could only sit and watch. Of course, easiest parallel of this we see is John giving out rations at Molestown. Right, we have the line. The last few trips had seen some ugliness at Mollestown, a little pushing and shoving, some muttered curses, a lot of sullen looks. Bowen Marsh felt it best not to take chances,
Starting point is 00:24:39 and for once he and John were agreed. So we see that over the trips to Molestown, John has to make the hard choices as well, just like Danny in this chapter. Some call it Snowstorm, the ship name. Did you know this? Snowstorm? No.
Starting point is 00:24:55 Like Stormborn and John Snow. I guess that's a name. oh that shit i thought you meant like there was a ship going to east watch and i was like i don't remember that shit um no no generic you know i like i like that name it's i think it's snowstorm it makes me think of derrude sandstorm yeah and that can be the song of iceland fire now oh my god uh danny asks sarbarisan if there's anything else they can do and he's like nope we have to prepare now for a very long siege she refuses then she decides to not share food equally with the astapori she fears that they will waste it
Starting point is 00:25:42 and she decides that she is going to go down and help the sick jesus walks shit going on despite warnings from her followers she bades and helps burn the bodies of the dead and calls for help from her unsullied who then assist her in the very grim task yeah okay so For what it's worth, like, I know she thinks she can't get sick, but I will say, like, the risk here is that if she does, she brings it inside the city and gets everyone else sick, too, but also, at the same time, I do think what she's doing is also important, so I don't know. Should have worn a mask. No, I'm just kidding. I'm sorry.
Starting point is 00:26:19 I, like, literally don't think that's up, right? No, definitely not. But, like, asymptomatic is real, too, right? Like, we all learn that during COVID, that you can have it and be totally, asymptomatic. So like Yeah. Girl, what if you do have it and you are shedding the virus to people? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:26:37 I guess with dysentery, right? Like it is mostly bacterial. So I guess if she just like If you, if everyone just like somehow practices proper hygiene right after wash your hands. It could be fine. Like we don't want to talk about shit again.
Starting point is 00:26:55 But like, you know, it's like how you're not supposed to leave the toilet lid open when you flush your shit. it. Yeah. Because you're just putting bacteria in the air. Yeah. I agree. I didn't think about that enough for my life, but now I do. Sorry. No, no, no. No, like I started doing that, I don't know, a few years ago. I was like, oh, my God, because my other best friend pointed it out.
Starting point is 00:27:20 I was like, you're so right. And I need to get. I mean, it's a bummer because you don't get to, like, see it go away. I mean, like, I don't need to watch it go down because by that point, it's usually. covered by toilet paper anyway yeah that's true that's true you don't just wave goodbye no i mean like you have to like look and see what you can see of course like what you gotta know what you're capable of yeah no you have to assess it and i know what i'm capable of oh my god i love that we're a podcast doesn't everyone do that i mean i brought it up i mean i'm just saying doesn't everyone like look i'm the one that's waving goodbye shit literally shit um oh my god
Starting point is 00:27:59 All right. Worship, this one and his brothers beg your leave to bathe in the salt sea when our work here is done. That we might be purified according to the laws of our great goddess. The queen had not known that the eunuchs had a goddess of their own. Who is this goddess? One of the gods of geese? The goddess is called by many names. She is the lady of spears, the bride of battle, the mother of hosts,
Starting point is 00:28:27 but her true name belongs only to these poor ones who have burned their manhoods upon her altar. We may not speak of her to others. This one begs your forgiveness. As you wish. Yes, you may bathe if that is your desire. Thank you for your help. I think that whatever the hell is going on here is a great example of a religious practice that's based in something practical, right, in the way that kind of like all the ironboard learned CPR,
Starting point is 00:28:54 are. But saltwater to wash off, like, illness and germs. I was like, wow, what a great practice. Really awesome. We're starting something good. Yeah, I know. I was like, hmm, hmm. But the line he says later on, I don't remember if it's right after this, but like soon after is these ones live to serve you. Like, that's a, that's interesting, right? Raises, again, some of those questions that we've been exploring. That's when, like, PIM came on. Yeah. Is it freedom? What is freedom? Question mark. Question mark? Question mark. I also thought it was notable another chapter in a row. We had Grolio last chapter where Danny fundamentally misunderstood his gods and his religion in a way. And here she is kind of being like, what the fuck? You guys have a religion? You know, there's a certain amount of autonomy that she doesn't.
Starting point is 00:29:54 see in some of her people. Yeah, I will say in like Danny's defense, not that I should be the scale for this. I didn't know that they had one. And like also I think George Gard ended in because I'm also like, do they make all the unsullied practice this one same religion? Like are there multiple other Giscari gods? Like we only really know the harpie, right? And so I'm just like, what? what's up what's up with this yeah I do think there is a strong indifference and I'm not going to say like
Starting point is 00:30:31 she's rejecting it but indifference to learning others customs and religion that are starting to come out in an interesting way right especially because she already has had to do that and assimilate into that and we'll see that later this chapter too but it just does seem something important to know about some of your commanders and what their habits are and et cetera. Yeah, agreed. I agree with that. I also just am curious about like the Gisgari theology. I'm like, I don't understand.
Starting point is 00:31:01 I don't think I understand it either. It is interesting because she's also very agnostic right now and finding her own. And so I think this will lead, you know, the fact that she herself doesn't really necessarily believe, believe in anything. She's like, yeah, the gods, whatever. But she will probably. I know a religion that's looking for new members They're going to be at her doorstep very soon
Starting point is 00:31:24 That's true, wait, fuck, that's also Stannis coded Um Yeah, because I was like, I don't know I guess she's technically raised to follow the Westerosi gods But she grew up in all these other places I mean like I can understand me like I don't know They're just gods when you grow up in like
Starting point is 00:31:39 Tyroche lease all those places Each of those places had a god too So I don't know Like being Catholic man Like growing up Catholic Like, it's like, you know, then you grow up and you're like, I don't know. Sure. Yeah. So, I don't know. Interesting. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:31:55 Obviously, none of us know as much about the Valerian gods as all of us wish to. I imagine them. Okay. I imagine them like when I think of whatever Belerian, the god that the dragon is named after or Marraxies is named after. When I think of them, I think of like the gods from Yu-Gio. Like, I think of what is his name? Oh, I think of Exodia, and that's... Exodia. Exodia, the Yu-Gi-O... Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 00:32:25 Card. Yeah. That's... The Wise White Dragon. Exodia. Well, no, those are different, but, right? I mean, yeah. But anyway, that's...
Starting point is 00:32:33 I just don't. That's how I imagine the Valerian Pantheon, in case anyone was wondering, like, they kind of look like that. They've got that vibe. Then what's Bay Blades? Oh, that's so interesting. Um, something to think about. Maybe this... Then what's...
Starting point is 00:32:48 I don't know. What's the clow, you know? Card captors. We need to start assigning these. Dude, I'm about to... I'll expect a full report. I considered, like, telling people recently, or, like, I was like, what if I start posting on LinkedIn and write things?
Starting point is 00:33:02 Like, I was really... I'm looking forward to the day I can call, like, AI, my friend, because of reading Chobits growing up. Then I was like, I should take it a step further and go to, like, the creator of Love Heena's like, AI Love You? Then I was like, no, I should go also. loop in like the Disney Channel original movies where they have that like one like I forgot what did she call. Like luck of the Irish? No, not that one. There's the one where she is like an AI and she
Starting point is 00:33:27 comes out into the real world somehow. Oh. Um, um, yeah, no, because it's the singer chick. It's my favorite one. No, it's like my favorite ones. I love all the songs from it. Pixel perfect. Um, pixel perfect. Yeah, I love that movie. That's my favorite Disney movie. Really? That's so interesting. Yeah, it's up there. Well, Disney Channel. movie. Sorry, sorry, sorry. Disney Channel Original movie. Yeah, it's its own genre. What was the song? I remember.
Starting point is 00:33:54 Yeah, I remember. There was one that was like when the rain falls and like fucking, yeah, I remember. We need to rewatch. Oh. I've been thinking about, I've been thinking about going through a bunch of the Disney Channel original movies. I mean, we do float. You and I do float the high school
Starting point is 00:34:10 musical ones every now and then. This is like actually in line of that. We could do that. I mean, we'd be breaking free. Yeah, I mean, after Tyrion, who knows what we're going to do next? Oh, my God. Would they come for us? Would Disney come for us?
Starting point is 00:34:28 I don't know. Probably, they'd probably sue us because we say fuck too much. No, they like literally might if we like try to sing the song. Anyways. You can sing like a clip of it. You just can't sing like 45 seconds of it, you know? Yeah, I think that happened like on Love Island, UK. I think there was a performance of a whole new world.
Starting point is 00:34:44 And they're like, we can't play this person's song. because we don't have the rights for it. I was like, oh, wow. So back at her pyramid, the girly pops are gossiping, just like us. Jekui and Ii and Iri, they're arguing about Rikaro. And Jikwee tells Erie that she's too skinny for him. While Erie calls her a cow, I'm like, dang, what the fuck is going on here? Danny tells them that Rikarro's life actually belongs to her, not them, which again, questions.
Starting point is 00:35:11 Hmm, question mark? Question mark? Question mark? Question mark? Question mark? So he's not allowed to have. love with either of them? Oh, he's blood of her blood. So, I mean, like, the other co-costs do, right? It's just weird to deny others love.
Starting point is 00:35:31 Yeah. Maybe she's just doing it because she wants them to stop. She's just getting him to shut the fuck up. Yeah, yeah. But twice in a chapter. It was, like, interesting. She commands that they be quiet so she can bathe, which, again, the real reason for all this
Starting point is 00:35:47 and asks Chiqui to burn her clothes Misande helps her unclothed and then climbs in as well upon being commanded to do so telling her that she heard the Ostapori scratching at the walls last night and Chiqui and Erie are puzzled they're like uh no one was scratching
Starting point is 00:36:01 Missande says yeah they were trying to call their way into the city but Erie and Shikwe says that would take years and Danny says that she dreams of it too and reminds her though that the camp is a half mile from them at least. It's not very far first of That's true.
Starting point is 00:36:17 That actually is close, yeah. I take a trot like that all the time. I love a little half mile. Think of all the poop you can see. Jesus Christ, if I'm Eliana, I could see it four times. I'm traumatized now. Talk about waving goodbye to it. It might just be the dragons.
Starting point is 00:36:33 Like, that's a very sensible, practical answer that they're hearing the dragons maybe. But also, it makes me think of the last chapter when we have the brick layer, brickmaker guy. and he says that he's a brickmaker by trade like his father and his grandfather and that his grandfather built their house against the city walls and that every night they would loose a few bricks and that when he told his friends they agreed to help them make the tunnel shored up
Starting point is 00:37:01 so it wouldn't collapse. So it's not without precedent that Missande is worried that it's people trying to claw their way in or out. That's true. I had the, I was at first until I saw your dragon explanation, which I also really like. I was like, oh, she's skin-changing a mouth or something. Which is a crazy idea. Nobody, like, take me as actually believing that.
Starting point is 00:37:25 I like, I like the dragon idea, but also, as you said, I don't know, very possible, but you know what? It's not Daddy's problem anymore. She got the fuck out, JK. She's going to come back. Yeah, because she's sorry. Yeah. Flying. Please don't hit us with a cease and cyst
Starting point is 00:37:45 Because we're singing Song from Disney's a network Song from Disney's a network Also I saw a post the other day A Leo Instagram post That had Sharpay Oh yeah She was like
Starting point is 00:38:03 You She actually deserved the world maybe Also, okay If it is the dragons clawing, trying to get out, kind of sand kings coated, just saying. Ooh, yeah, yeah, yeah. A bit. I look for sand kings and everything, and all I see is snow. It's terrible.
Starting point is 00:38:24 Well, like, there are sand kings everywhere for those with the eyes to see. And it's just, like, building your face over and over again. Brownie yelling on a face. Kind of. Maybe that's how my mom feels when she looks. me. There are St. King's everywhere for those his eyes to see. I look like my mom, everyone.
Starting point is 00:38:44 Danny has to face an awkward discussion about her upcoming wedding with his dar. That's also attended by the Green Grace and Resnock. I'm now skeptical about Resnock again after this chapter. Yeah, same. It changes for me literally every day. I can't keep it straight. I'm going to quote
Starting point is 00:39:01 Deneeris from later on in this chapter regarding me. She was a young girl and alone, and young girls can change their minds. That's me and Chloe. We're young girls who can change their minds. I'm just a girl. Anyway, so the tradition surrounding the wedding ceremony,
Starting point is 00:39:20 including a fertility examination by Hazdara's family, which more than frustrate the Naries, she insists that, well, you know what, fuck it. His daughter's family can go examine each other and they can eat their special cake together. I thought it was actually, it was maybe not the most tactful. think she could have done, but honestly hilarious.
Starting point is 00:39:41 Good for her. I was like, that's very funny, Denarius. And she's not going to participate in the rituals. And even if they do make, again, special women's cake after, I love how Resnog tried to make it sound very enticing. He really wants to try the cake. Is it weird that I, like, thought of those cakes that, like, I don't know, like placenta? Um, no, I don't think so, because I'm like, what's up with the cake?
Starting point is 00:40:02 I don't trust it. Like, Marina Abramovit with, like, the fucking blood ritual shit? Yeah. Cakes. I don't trust whatever's going on with that cake. Mm-mm. Mm-mm. She also says that she won't be washing his door's feet, which is another tradition,
Starting point is 00:40:18 because it's like, oh, you're the hand-made now if you wash his feet. And then you have the wedding to-car, which is white silk, red veils, baby pearls. And Danny says, but they'll rattle while she walks. And Galaza argues that the pearls symbolize fertility and the gods of geese wouldn't deem this a true union. or she didn't follow the tradition and if she weds in just the Westrosy customs she would be looked at as a concubine and honestly like
Starting point is 00:40:45 she doesn't have to wear the outfit but the outfit does kind of sound like really cool Oh it sounds so cool I know that's like not how I'm supposed to feel about it but whatever sounds cool Yeah like sleigh all day at your wedding chains I was literally thinking the same thing
Starting point is 00:40:59 I was like sleigh It is really interesting and there's a lot of symbolism going on in there I think of the pearls that Grazan was wearing before she lit him up and how they clattered to the ground so that feels like reminiscent
Starting point is 00:41:14 and we see pearls all the time throughout the series like they're absolutely looked at as a finer bead pearl stone etc whatever you want to fucking call it it's not a stone it's looked at as like a finer thing to own like
Starting point is 00:41:30 aria in a storm of swords wearing lady small woods child's dress has pearls on it, baby pearls in the brothel, dancing in the brothel bets her pearls, and it's like a big deal Tyrion's like, I don't want her to lose her pearls.
Starting point is 00:41:47 Sanz's wedding dress last in storm, she has pearls all over the bodice and I mean tons more of different things Aria's wedding dress, quote unquote, has pearls all over it. The free folk pass a
Starting point is 00:42:02 pearl necklace in their tributes they give when swearing to Stanis, John, the wall, whatever the fuck they're swearing to. Honestly, they don't know either. And then many places in Danny's Ark. It's very prominent in Esos. Like, it seems like pearls are very much prominent, and the summer aisles are a huge producer for the entire nations of pearls. People get pearls from them.
Starting point is 00:42:24 So I thought that was really interesting, paired with everything we've talked about with pearls and the fertility symbolism and obviously the irony. And then, like, the blood red veil on top of that pure white sill. kind of showing, I mean, blood red. Yeah. The blood of the bricks of Astoport and the blood of Marine and the bread of harlotness, right? Like, easy fucking A. The red letter, the scarlet letter.
Starting point is 00:42:52 In a way, it's interesting because for Danny, you know, that's her truth against the pure white, red. She's going to embrace red and fire and blood. Yeah. I mean, in some, like, I guess cultures it's considered like good fortune and stuff, but I also am just like, I don't know, what a power color. I'm like, sounds cool. It's all I'm still thinking, I'm like, oh, I don't know, it sounds like a fit. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:43:13 Great examination. I guess also, you know, the pearl is like, it's made under duress, but when the green grace is talking about it, you know, she's like, but they're a symbol of fertility. And I guess Denari's not really putting much stock into it because A, not fertile, but B, or seeing that symbolism also of, like, the land, not much food, perhaps not fertile. But also, like, the fact that she's not interested in airs kind of shows, I don't know, it kind of shows a lack of commitment to the long-term vision of whatever's going on here. Like, so you don't really care about carrying things on here, right?
Starting point is 00:43:59 But also, I mean, you know, the seat is not strong. The seed is not seen. She's not committed to it. Yeah. And, you know, the lack of any of this, she's not doing any of their rituals, even though she's being repeatedly told, if you don't do this, you won't be seen as legitimate, which also, like, she's never going to be seen as legitimate. True. Ever. They're never going to see her as legitimate.
Starting point is 00:44:21 Um, be a dragon, girlfriend. Not to quote the bad show, but be a dragon. But of course, then there's that bit right where. I actually like, be tall, be tall, be dung. I actually do really love the be tall in that context. Don't get me wrong. Yeah, me too. trailer fucked just like dunk i mean dunk did fuck and then like there's the line in there that she
Starting point is 00:44:40 must marry him in the temple of the graces with the nobility watching or her children will be considered bastards so that's kind of an interesting line um it's interesting she's so obstinate in all this but like she's already done all this right like i think of the dothraki marriage she did the wedding traditions she did everything she let everyone watch her fuck in public She ate a horse heart for her baby. Like, I wouldn't do any of this shit either. I get it, girl. You've already done it.
Starting point is 00:45:10 And also, there's something interesting of, like, Marine would see her children as bastards. A, glossing over the Valerian freehold and the hold that it had on the East. And then also, like, kind of reflective of Targaryans and their cult-like traditions, right? What they see as a bastard. I think of Diana, the Defiant, who had a children with her cousin, who woke. the king and that child became like one of the forefront of rebellion leaders of all times so much that he started the branch of the family that's like are we bastards or are we royal motherfuckers ha ha ha ha we should take the throne and then there's also that hint of like targaryan exceptionalism if you don't marry this way beneath the seven force where the ways of your valerian identity your bastards to us is how westrose kind of put it right to the targaryens so there's something about blood purity and about following these rules, these sacred rules in order to rule. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:46:08 I thought there was just something really interesting about that bit of like, oh, your children will be bastards. They will not be fit to rule. I mean, they're not going to be fit to rule because, like, they're going to be dead. They won't exist. So, first of all, taking care of that problem. I'm out here solving things. That's why God made spitting.
Starting point is 00:46:29 Yeah, for real. But great points all around. And I also like that you called out how, you know, she's already, like, kind of done all these with the Doth Rocky. And, like, there was something that as you were going over, all these other, like, wedding things made me realize. You know, in this context, I'm, like, so confused because they're trying to get her to, and we know why they're trying to get her to acquiesce to some of these traditions and have it seen as, like, legitimate and that transfer of power over to his star. But, like, essentially, to an extent, right, like, because she is conquered and she's the queen at this moment, she is, she's the queen, right? the power should flow from her, but like her participating in all these marriage rituals and then having to like pay homage to all these different religions when you were talking about
Starting point is 00:47:10 like the Lady of Spears and stuff makes me think of King Solomon and he had to also like he was known allegedly for his wisdom. He definitely made mistakes though and he you know he had to like bring all these different cultures together and kind of like pay homage to all those different religions too because of all of his wives. So De Nerees is probably about to have a lot of different spouses I don't know that all of them will be alive at the same time though quite like Solomon
Starting point is 00:47:39 anyways I like your idea of King Solomon because she too is like yeah who needs a baby cut it in half send it down the river when did she say that? She didn't but she's not going to have one so I don't know I believe that she might have like tried to pull something like that there's so many problems
Starting point is 00:47:55 no no like just heard like because he wasn't actually trying to cut the baby you know there's so many problems like put in front of her. I'm like, maybe she dealt with that. I mean, that is kind of where she is right now when you think about it metaphorically, right? Like, that she can't fix it. All she can
Starting point is 00:48:11 do is like split it in half. In anyway, in some ways, like I feel like John's issue is the closer to that, like the baby swap feels analogous in some ways. Anyway. Kind of important also, I mean, yeah, that she actually doesn't play
Starting point is 00:48:27 into the symbolism of washing her husband's feet. Because first, of all, like, she's not her husband's handmaid. Like, that's dumb. He should be washing her feet. And if they got married and it was perceived as, yeah, if it was perceived as like her as his handmade, like through that ritual, that's the symbolism. You get the same tension of like, wait, we don't know who we're supposed to follow here. That happened and was explored in House of the Dragon between Rainier and Damon. Because again, historic's power should flow from Denaries, not the other way around.
Starting point is 00:49:01 But here we have a big power struggle emerging, right? Of him becoming the king, which she kind of gives into here at the end of the chapter only because, you know, that pussy wet for Dario. Yeah, and I mean, she's tired. Yeah. Sometimes you just want to fuck and go to bed. Yeah. So honestly, when you're that tired, though, respect to her having the energy to fuck,
Starting point is 00:49:23 sometimes you're like, I just want to go to bed. Real. And what's crazy is she thinks of Dario Speak of the devil Right after this And she thinks of something he told her Get the heads of all the noble houses Out of their pyramids on some pretext
Starting point is 00:49:42 The dragon's words are fire and blood Danny pushed the thought aside It was not worthy of her Oh interesting I'm like oh Circe from the TV show Oh, yes. Yeah, a little... Light of the Seven? Yeah, the gods she does know. See, they read the books. They just didn't understand them. And that happens to all my friends all the time. For me, when I saw in that moment, I was like, oh, not Tariu literally suggesting the red wedding because it would be at a wedding. I'm like, huh.
Starting point is 00:50:15 Yeah, dude. I mean, it could still happen. It could still happen, but... No, it really can't. We know what happens next. It's literally the next chapter. Something even more exciting at the wedding happens, a dragon. Like, honestly, actually quite exciting. Way better. Yeah. Well, finally we reach the final matter.
Starting point is 00:50:37 Resnach begs her to open the fighting pits as a wedding gift to His Dar and her people, showing them she's truly embraced the way of the Miranese and pleasing the gods. She declares her king husband can open the pits if he likes, for he will now be king. That was suss-resnaw. Yeah. I don't know. He's back in my shit list. I really don't know.
Starting point is 00:51:00 I don't know. I don't know what to think, dude. I don't know what to think. That's how Deney's feels. She doesn't know what to think right now. And like, if I don't know, she can't, she definitely wouldn't. And I think people, I think I'm criticizing some of Dineries's policy decisions as well, like with some stuff. Some of it, I'm actually just criticizing George, which is worse.
Starting point is 00:51:23 I mean, it could be both. both. It would be really boring if we sat here for Danny chapters and we're like, oh my God, yes, queen. She couldn't have done it any other. Like, that's boring. That's not who we are. Well, I mean, like, the point is, some of it is George being like, oh, it's a difficult decision to make and maybe this wasn't the right choice. But some of it, I'm just like, this was bad George, bad writing on your part. Sorry. Um, anyway, speaking of passing the buck, as I am right now, Denieres says here recording, huh? Not a segue.
Starting point is 00:51:57 I know, right? Not a famous Eliana Segway. Daneris says here about his dar. Let the blood be on his hands, not mine, regarding the opening of the fighting pits. And I would say, especially by some of the logic that DeNaris has said earlier regarding responsibility and what a queen's responsibility is, I'm like, I don't know, I feel like the blood would still be. on your hands. Like, he's still, like, his dar would technically be in a way, like, your subject. You cannot wash your hands of such big policy decisions like this.
Starting point is 00:52:32 Like, that's Robert Barathean kind of behavior. Yeah, acedia. Not good. Yeah. But it's because she actually is trying, and she's just like, oh my God, I don't know. I don't fucking know anymore. I'm like, I don't know. But maybe Robert did try.
Starting point is 00:52:47 We weren't there for that. I mean, I think he did at the beginning. Yeah. Right? we see that with Searcy, with that beginning vision. Look how they like you, my lady. Her Searcy? Maybe because he's quietly plotting.
Starting point is 00:53:02 I mean, yeah, he actually is. Yeah. He does arrive later, and he dismisses all of these traditions, which is kind of neat, kind of nice. I'm like, okay, Hizdar, one point for you. You're now at negative 20. Instead, he proposes they make their own traditions. They make their own lords. And then they make one.
Starting point is 00:53:21 that would secure peace with Yung Kai. But this tradition is not great, and Danny hates it, because he proposes they require letting Astopor be a slave city once more, and Yung Kai to profit off of them. And also, Danny can't interfere. Ha ha ha ha, ha, happy wedding. I feel like the new tradition sounds a lot like the old tradition. This is the same.
Starting point is 00:53:48 Didn't we, it is the same. It is the same. Didn't we just do this? Like, wait a second. I was like, I don't think he's like really dismissing that he's, I think he's just saying that to play a good cop. And I was like, his daughter. This was so unhelpful.
Starting point is 00:54:05 I mean, it is like straight up he's pushing, they pushed all the bad shit, pissed her off. And now that she's worn down on that, he could be like, no, no, no, we're not doing any of that. But we are doing slavery again, okay? Like, it's a total, like, he's hiding the ball on her. Where'd it go? It's like that, for sure. Mm-hmm. All right.
Starting point is 00:54:28 Well, then we have this line here of marriage or carnage. A wedding or a war. Are those my choices? I see only one choice, your radiance. Let us say our vows before the gods of geese and make a new marine together. Okay, but hot take, from what I read in this book series, you can have both. You can have both marriage and carnage. You can have both a wedding and a war.
Starting point is 00:54:53 You just have to want it hard enough. Jesus fucking Christ. Like Walter Frey did. Walter Frey wanted it hard enough. And look at him, manifesting dreams. I have a feeling that they shouldn't want it much harder because she has dragons. They do not. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:55:12 But. Be careful what you want. They've been testing her and they're like, well, she's not going to use them. So like, whatever. Are we going to do whatever? Well, they're pushing her. And I know a little girl who's going to shit herself in the woods, in the grass, not the woods.
Starting point is 00:55:25 And she's going to show the fuck back up with, like, fucking exhausted and also be tripping balls, having thoughts from our ancestors telling her what to do and her, like, bad colleagues. Dude, the flies are going to fly, like, in, like, a cloud. And she's going to imagine the flies talking to her. Like, the flies that are on her poops, they're going to come up. Wait, that's so sand-case. Are it, is it? The fairies, the theories.
Starting point is 00:55:54 Why are their voices this way? Stop. Those are the flies. Those are the flies flying off the poops. I know. I don't like it. Because they're little. They have to have little voices.
Starting point is 00:56:04 Okay. So they're interrupted by Barriston. We are interrupted by Barristan. Who has advised that the Yung Kai are marching toward Marine with a large army. His Dar is trying to distract her Like flat out he's trying to distract her From the War Council during this He's like, oh no, we have planning to do
Starting point is 00:56:23 But she calls for her commanders to convene And Barristan to show his Dar out I already said this line earlier But let's say it again Upon like wanting to see Dario Dany is like she was a young girl and alone And young girls can change their minds Aw
Starting point is 00:56:39 She decided to stop being a queen for a second Because it was really hard Yeah, she just wants some love, dude. Yeah. It's all we all want. Yeah. And Dario does return,
Starting point is 00:56:51 injured with sexy, sexy blood all over. And he brings some pretty bad news. The Yung Kai and their allies are bringing more forces to meet them in the field. He announces Astipur is gone.
Starting point is 00:57:05 The hills swarm with yunkish self-swords, four free companies, and they're being joined by more legions from new geese who have elephants, slingers, they planned to cut them off from the Dothraki Sea.
Starting point is 00:57:18 They gained more men than they lost, though, so good news there. They got some turn cloaks, even some Westerosi deserters. From the windblown, Winky Face, Winky Face, who could it be? Bereson asks, who's the fourth free company, though? Dario says that the second sons have gone over to the enemy. Dario spits at Brown Ben Plum's name, and Danny has no words, It's just a deep feeling of betrayal. Everybody is, like, freaking out, swearing vengeance, yada, yada.
Starting point is 00:57:50 And Danny thinks, three treasons you will know. Once for gold, once for blood, once for love. Was Plum the third treason or the second? And what did that make Jora, her gruff old bear? Would she never have a friend she could trust? What good are prophecies if you cannot make sense of them? Prophecy, what is it good for? Absolutely nothing.
Starting point is 00:58:12 Literally nothing. Yeah, maybe she really shouldn't have gone in the hell. I would say also, like, part of why she feels so bewildered is that the dragons liked brown ben plum, and I thought that was kind of an interesting contrast with, like, the dire wolves being super mean to Tyrion when he visits Winterfell, and, but then at the same time, you have ghosts being like very nice to Melisandra, but yeah, so the dragons, the dragons, significantly more fickle than I guess the wolves, but I think that kind of plays into how. it goes with the Targaryen family, unfortunately, right?
Starting point is 00:58:48 And some of the themes that for Denaries, the people who were supposed to take care of her, her family, the people who are supposed to be closest and love her, are the ones who hurt her most. They're her enemy. And that's very much a mirror to Tyrion's story as well, right? It's his own family, his own father, who hurt him the most.
Starting point is 00:59:08 Yeah. Always that's the closest motherfucker. right, who betray you the worst. Yeah, unless you're a stark. Yeah, that's true. Well, Resnack whales, the shave paint mutters, and the blood riders swear vengeance. Bellwoss makes plans to eat Ben's heart with palms and onions.
Starting point is 00:59:30 Uh-huh, cannibalism again. But Danny gets to her feet and commands silence. She tells them to go gather food, close the gates. No one enters and no one leaves the city, and she dismisses everyone except for Dario. She's like, go gather food. Bellas is like, that's what I. I was trying to do.
Starting point is 00:59:46 Yeah. Making the hard choice. Also, the heart choice, but I get it. He's going to eat the heart with the plums because his name is brown and plumb. Oh, my God, he's a genius. What? Dude, Bellwoss cooking show would be so good. It also makes me think of, like, the dish in the hunger games, right?
Starting point is 01:00:11 The plums do. Yeah. I was thinking that, too. Yeah. Yeah. Everything's coming together for us. Tune into our catching fire episodes. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:00:18 There is some stew. Stewing. So interesting that at the very beginning of the chapter, Danny is split just like the baby, down the river, Old Testament style. And she's like, I got to take care of them, but I can't.
Starting point is 01:00:33 But I got to, but I can't. And she's pretty, you know, she's pretty conflicted. And she's having a hard time making it work. And here at the betrayal, right? So the betrayal has just happened. A catalyst, she now is making the hard choice, and she says, no, cut off the food supplies, we're going to war. We are going to war.
Starting point is 01:00:54 Get ready. So interesting that after she receives this slight, she wakes up and makes the choice and dismisses everyone, and she's like, I want to fuck. It is the right choice, arguably, for her people in the city. But the flip-flopping and the catalyst for it is very interesting. I mean, to your credit, like, it's not a decision to make lightly, and I think you're right, like, it is, it is the right choice, but, yeah, I guess we could have made the right choice, like, I don't know, a couple of chapters ago with the dragons, take out, take out the dragons, um, the closing of the gates, though, and the illness, like, obviously slightly different
Starting point is 01:01:37 polarity in terms of where the sick people are and everything going on, but it does again remind me of the gray plague and someone actually had a good said something smart to us about that recently but we're not we didn't cover the emails and tweets of note this week sorry uh also something almost siege-esque about it as well very stanisish again mm-hmm no food young stannis baby stannis so hmm look i wonder if she's going to chop someone's hand ah just kidding i don't know maybe um there's no time for that she's she's in the sea right now there's no time for that arguably that has happened already with victorian who may be coming with a fleet that is breaking right the what's going on in the bay and he's already lost his hand
Starting point is 01:02:25 that was a very roundabout way of getting to that i like it i'm gonna say i'm sold i'm sold you fixed it for i don't yeah there was nothing wrong with solutions um yeah no there's nothing wrong with she comes with actionables they begin to discuss trust in the future
Starting point is 01:02:45 Danny washes his cut and she commands he takes his clothes off they kiss and he smells like blood
Starting point is 01:02:53 and smoke and horse and they close the chapter with I thought you would be the one to betray me
Starting point is 01:03:01 once for blood and once for gold and once for love the warlock said she sounds so crazy right now he's probably like
Starting point is 01:03:07 what the fuck is she say I'm not saying she's crazy But I sound like this too to all of you When you have no idea what's going on in my head So I get it Yeah, I mean she talked about poop for like 20 minutes Yeah, but like just her just saying this
Starting point is 01:03:22 And he's like, what is she talking about? There's no context Once for blood and once for gold And once for love, the warlock said I thought, I never thought Brown Ben Plum Even my dragon seemed to trust him She clutched her captain by the shoulders
Starting point is 01:03:37 promise me, then you will never turn against me. I could not bear that. Promise me. Never, my love, she believed him. I swore that I should wed his dars, Olorak, if he gave me 90 days of peace, but now I wanted you from the first time that I saw you, but you were a cell-sword, fickle, treacherous. You boasted that you'd had a hundred women. A hundred. I lied, sweet queen. It was a thousand, but never once a thousand. But never once a dragon she raised her lips to his what are you waiting for and then they fucked you waiting
Starting point is 01:04:14 for fuck me like you do fuck fuck oh my god i mean that's actually kind of what happens in i guess that movie that the song was written for now that i think about it huh right isn't it for those 50 shades songs i think so yeah actually i kind of forgot about that now that you mentioned i like I forgot about it until I unlocked it just now, as I was talking about it. I'm busy, like, singing Pixel Perfect songs in my head. I remembered one of them. Wow. Nothing's wrong with me.
Starting point is 01:04:47 Do you remember that? No. It's like, scream, shout, love it loud. I feel it needs to stand out in the crowd. Nothing's wrong with me. That's a song. That's unlocking something. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:05:00 That part. Freak out. I stand my ground. Bada. Bidda. nothing's wrong with me yeah yeah okay yeah i do think i should try and rewatch those i don't know that they have all of them like they have a good amount of them i also don't know if they're like actually all good but that's okay that's okay that's not the point they're all good if you believe hard
Starting point is 01:05:26 enough um they're all good if you believe hard enough but also um yeah she really just says that like out of context to him and I don't think Dario knows what's going on but respect I guess that he's like sure and also I think it's interesting that she's not the one who washes Dario and his wounds granted he doesn't really actually take a bath here but he probably should have but it would have been interesting though if she had been the one to clean him considering what we just learned about the Miranese wedding customs
Starting point is 01:05:59 but I think she's mindful not to do that like I do think she'd like is thinking about those customs and symbolism. Yeah, kind of like how we look at the cloaking as a big symbol in the story, right? Exactly. Of marriage, but it's not marriage. Like, there's a little bit of that going on here. And that she has held back this entire time. She's held back fucking Dario until now.
Starting point is 01:06:24 That's actually very impressive. I don't know that I would have done the same. I can be very stubborn. I could have probably held out. I don't know. I don't know that I would have. But not, I don't know. I think I only would have done it out of pride, like, if he didn't seem.
Starting point is 01:06:39 I don't know. But he's, like, been very clearly interested, I guess. So, I don't know. She did a really good job at the chase. I'm not good at the chase. Like, I'm like, okay. Oh, interesting. For me, it depends.
Starting point is 01:06:50 You know, like, marry me. Babysit me. Yeah, she should have made him bathe first. That's all I have to say about that. Dude, that's how she likes it. She's like, it's her Dothraki culture coming back, you know? She loved the blood, the smoke, the horse, like the smell of that. She was into that.
Starting point is 01:07:11 She liked it with Drogo, too. I mean, I guess she doesn't get sick, right? Maybe Targaryans don't get UTIs. I don't know. They're like dick cheese. Anyways, we can't talk about this. I'm so disgusted. I'm going to puke.
Starting point is 01:07:25 This is maybe the most disgusting episode we've had. Dario's Dick cheese and Eliana's poop piles. Oh, my God. I actually experienced those, though. It was terrible. Danny actually experienced it, too. That's true. Oh, no, I didn't experience dick cheese, no.
Starting point is 01:07:46 Dario's got to be uncut, right? I don't know. Do you think most people are uncut in A-Swap? Do you think they cut any men's penis? Is this a... Like the unsullied? No, I mean, like, sort of incision, like... I feel like they've discussed it.
Starting point is 01:08:02 I think that they've... Aeswif circumcision in A-Swaff. No, there is no depiction of a circumcised penis in the books. Wow. It's like all or nothing, you know? Either they take the whole thing or none of it. Huh. I don't know.
Starting point is 01:08:24 I don't know why I assumed they were. But you're right. Maybe everyone just does have smigma. Wait, wait, wait. Wait. the thousand islands they cut their dicks. They sliced the four skins and the thousand islands.
Starting point is 01:08:38 We've found it. We should add this to our list of questions to ask George. No, I mean, this is the answer. The thousand islands are the only culture known to practice it. Yeah, but only, it's the only one known where it's stated, right? We don't know
Starting point is 01:08:53 that they don't. So we should form the question and say, George, I know that in the thousand islands penises are circumcised. Are there any other places in the world that you have created that circumcised their dicks? No, literally, I do now want to know this. This has suddenly become a priority for me.
