Girls Gone Canon Cast - ASOIAF Episode 271 — ADWD Daenerys IX
Episode Date: November 21, 2025It's like what if “Dany opened her arms to them, her skin flushed and glowing. This is a wedding, too, she thought" from AGOT Daenerys X but in ADWD and with Drogon being much larger and there's som...ething that's kind of like a bedding. (Apologies for the audio quality from Eliana. I've had a bit of a personal emergency that required some sacrifices in terms of production.) Hello and welcome to Girls Gone Canaan reads A Song of Ice and Fire,
Episode 271, Dineries 9, in a dance with dress.
That's Adelwada, for those of you that are initiated.
I'm one of your hosts, Chloe.
And I am another one of your hosts, Eliana.
And sorry for my audio is bad today.
Unexpected things have happened.
I think it sounds beautiful.
Like you're in an orchestral room.
Great.
That's not what I wanted.
You're ready to bust out into a solo.
And that's what I'm glad about.
That's one of the many things that I'm thankful for.
Eliana, this holiday season, Girls Gone Cannon will be reprising one of its famed series.
That's right, Patreon members in the Stranger Tier and above will get a Patreon bonus episode for November of 2025 based on the Thanksgiving episode, season two, episode nine of Gossip Girl, the original series.
That's right. Gossip Girls Gone Canon has returned.
it has in fact returned yes that's coming out later or by the end of this month
thanks i'm in it right now everyone asked for other people have told me that none of you know
and who don't listen to the podcast but they reassured me that people wanted this
can you name some names are the people schmloy no her name's cat which is a real person for
sure. What is her
name? Catherine? I don't know.
I assume.
It's true, though. It's real. People
wanted this. Not only did
they want this bonus episode
Gossip Girls Gone Cannon, the second
annual Thanksgiving episode.
They also wanted
what the people and the
critics are calling Brapy Hour.
They are calling it that.
They are. And it
also happens once a month
that's available for patrons in the
thunder tier and above. That's coming to you. This coming weekend, this is going to be on the
23rd of November, Sunday. Yeah, baby. 2 to 4 p.m. ET. Yeah, I'm ready. Get ready for 2 to 4 p.m.
Eliana time. I'm feeling November about it, though. Like, I'm ready, like, crunching of leaves
under feet, and we're all going to talk about the chilly weather and how we have colds every other
week. Yeah, I'm ready. Yeah. I have to acquire my ham.
the day before for Friendsgiving, so.
Yeah, I got to do some cooking.
Get ready.
We're going from a four-person Thanksgiving at my household of what we usually do for Thanksgiving
to a 15-person Thanksgiving, so please pray for me.
Please say a prayer for me and my mother in roommate law.
Good luck.
In roommate law.
Thank you.
We've been threatening emails and tweets of notes and messages, and Eliana outdid herself today,
and she brought them.
she brought them we still haven't even gotten to all them we still have a backlog of some of them
that we'll get to probably next time because again so we're a little short on time today but
it's still going to be a long episode we're going to make it work we're going to make it work
so first in first because we requested this information thunder clap told us he can't like
encourage this kind of behavior and he wouldn't send an email but he did send an email and he told
this about his name origin and i got the impression from the email it was supposed to stay between
us. So it's ours now.
I did get that impression. Yeah, it's ours. It's not for you.
Yeah, who am I? I'll never tell to the gossip room.
XO XO XO XO Thunder clap. Anyways, it wasn't about farts, so in case you were all wondering
why I was shocked too. Also, he reminded us of a poem that he apparently sent back then on Podbean,
which I'm like, oh, should we make this into a song too? Now that Chloe and I are singer-songwriters
were like M2M or Ali and AJ or I don't know what other like
what other duos are there um see a no Megan and Sarah
oh I was thinking Teagan and Sarah Megan and Sarah the Veronica's the Veronica's
Allie and AJ yeah I said that one Ali and Jake Ali and AJ
I'm sorry. I think I heard you, but like I was really caught up in the moment I finally got something. Sorry. I'm sorry. No, no. It's all right. It's all right. But, um, okay, let's talk about something that the other clap actually said we could read from his email. It's a, the PS where he goes, one thing I love about the asswaffe series is all the small details about characters and I can create some foil theories with them. For example, if we take two things we know about strong malwas, Chloe. He loves liver and onions. Alliana, his big fat belly is covered in scars. In tribal medicine,
to determine whether a stomach wound has perforated the guts.
They would be fed.
Strong-smelling food, say garlic or onion,
it would still be smelt after it's been eaten
from terminal injuries.
Strong Balwasse is badly injured in battle
and had a last meal of liver and onions.
Possibly we get the line.
A smell of liver and onions lingered
long after Strong Balwass had expired.
I spent 10 minutes trying to make anagrams
out of Strong Bellwoss, Blune gas rods.
Two, rest slow bang.
Three, slow bent,
rats. And this is what Thunderclap wanted us to tell you. If you noticed that my audio has
changed everyone, it's because, again, we're making, we're making do with life and I suddenly
had to change where I am, rooms in the middle. I'll probably put that in the blueper section
if you want to listen to it on our Discord, but yeah. I know that Thunderclap was like,
I'm not going to encourage this behavior by emailing back to you, but also then he did
encourage the behavior, which I strongly encourage, right?
Like, if you want to encourage our poor behavior, we really, really love that.
So thank you for always encouraging our poor behavior, but you also gave us something to
really gnaw upon, perforated gnaw upon, chew upon, I don't know.
Thank you, Thundercup.
I really love this.
I love the, yeah, the liver and onions.
Oh, Bellwoss.
Oh, Bellwoss.
We got a couple of other things.
Yeah, over on Patreon, our friend Kelly Common.
and said lemon trees grow anywhere take that believers she didn't say that i say that i'm in melbourne
australia believers for a second i think this is justin bieber have to do with this what is he
kelly is in melbourne australia she's a believer no i'm sorry kelly and kelly says they are in
every backyard even with winter frosts take that wow take that stuff that in your theory
Oh, my God.
I'm on YouTube and I'm lying.
Oh, my God, stop.
It could be anyone, one.
Don't take that out.
It could be anyone.
I'm talking about anyone right now.
Oh, my God.
It actually could.
It really could be anyone.
There's so many people.
What about the lemons?
Good.
Fight me.
We're being a little sour right now.
See?
I made a joke out of it.
Like lemons?
Yeah, you were close.
That was so courteous of me.
A few messages lately, also from people who are catching up and our first-time listeners making their way downtown.
Walking fast, trot and pass in there, clop, clop.
Our friend Raj left us a comment.
Raj is always talking about horses with our bitch asses.
Thank you so much for your comments.
and Raj commented back in Aries O'Cart and said,
I've been meandering the Patreon episodes today,
landed here by happenstance and geeked.
Yes, we change horses' shoes.
Every four to eight weeks, depending on the horse.
Think acrylic nails and the need of a refill.
Four weeks?
Okay, bitch.
Damn, it takes me like three weeks,
and these motherfuckers are out at most.
And I drag it.
I really cross that finish line, so.
I kind of, I try to be four to eight weeks, but it doesn't look good.
Yeah.
It don't be looking good.
I don't, I don't do my, uh, I don't do my nails.
Right now they're like stained yellow with turmeric because I, uh, boiled some turmeric.
Good for you.
But it looks, it looks gross.
I look gross.
I look ill in like a not like, not like ill, not like thick, just like that.
Motherfucker, I'm ill.
Not sick.
Yeah.
All right.
So, uh, from Clay who commented on some of our re-coverage.
This is the episode that we did with our friend, Michael, aka Bookshelf Stud.
It says, Reek, having a gollum voice, is now my head canon.
Ooh, ooh, a classic.
Okay, we also got a message from Brenda.
This has a few questions, though.
So we're going to tackle it next episode.
We're, again, being mindful of time tonight.
So instead, last one for now.
Thanks to our friend Matt for, oh, my God, these were amazing cat and dogs.
pictures of Muta and Evie.
And Evie's so, so, so, so very fluffy.
I would bury my head and Evie's stomach.
And then Matt also sent a video of Muta playing with a rubber band.
And I'd like to just say that it is days like today.
I remember, dude, we're so blessed.
We are.
It was a good video.
Sometimes I like joke and I'm like, you should send your animals to us.
And then you do, you crazy bitches do.
So thank you crazy bitches.
Really appreciate it.
Truly.
That brings us to our lightning round
what we missed between DeNeres 8
and DeNeres 9 in a Dance with Dragons
which is one chapter that is Theon 1
in a dance with dragons where
Theon makes a leap to faith.
That brings us here into DeNeres 9,
Adelaida, which is honestly,
as everyone knows, very big, pivotal chapter.
Chloe has set us up here with Denieries
also makes a leap
to a giant snarling, fiery
massive faith. It's
Drogon. Drogon is the faith.
And Chloe's reminded all of us be a dragon.
It feels important.
Yeah. I'd also say I added
some alternate lightning rounds,
Eliana.
Mm-hmm, mm-hmm.
Including she's flying high.
She's defying gravity.
Mm-hmm.
And you can't bring her down.
We can't. Shout out Wicked for Good Part 2.
I'm seeing that Thursday night at 10 p.m.
If I don't fall asleep, I could.
And then there's an alternate overview here, an alternate alternate, which is, this is a sports
podcast, which feels important.
Yes, they are.
We are, we are a sports podcast now.
No, but literally, it's like all sports.
Like, we're going to go into a lot of, this is gladiator football, whatever you want to say.
Yeah, no, that's true.
Actually, the rest of this chapter is very sports, like George being into.
sports kind of stuff and i'm like i understand sports now i get it i understand how sports works so um
yeah let's jump into it it's kind of crazy though like that this chapter occurs like 60% of the
way into the book that's like quite early arguably this book is fucking insane and this chapter
is fucking insane like holy shit the pacing and yeah i think we think of like i don't know it kind
comes from the bad show too, right? You have episode 9, which is always like a big episode with
a lot of drama and episode 10, which is like the mini clash of kings of episodes of where like
you get all the infighting has happened and now you have the fallout and now you have to reckon
with the aftermath of whatever fell out in the last chapter. And there's a lot of that here.
I think we think of Danny 10 is a really big chapter and like 10th chapters are really big for a lot
of these two. I think of like Ned 10, which is going to come back here in a minute for me.
But this is kind of an insane chapter and the book is not done yet. Like you said, this is like
40% of the book left. And it also leaves her next chapter being killer because it's so just
like strung out. It's the aftermath of all of this and like, where do we go from here?
It's really well done. This chapter's amazing. Insane fucking chapter. George R. Martin, you are
insane. You're a madman. I love that about you. You mad lad. Incredible.
Indeed. Indeed. Well.
The sky was a merciless blue without a wisp of cloud in sight. The bricks will soon be baking
in the sun, thought Danny. Down on the sands, the fighters will feel the heat through the
souls of their sandals. Giqui slipped Danny's silk robe from her shoulders and Erie helped
her into the bathing pool. The light of the rising sun shimmered on the wall.
broken by the shadow of the persimmon tree.
Even if the pits must open, must your grace go yourself?
Asked Miss Ande, as she was washing the queen's hair.
Half of Marine will be there to see me, gentle heart.
Your grace, said Missande.
This one begs leave to say that half of Marine will be there to watch men bleed and die.
She's not wrong, the queen knew, but it makes no matter.
Okay, Chibiyusa, what the fuck was that fucking lowly ass?
What is going on?
I wanted to keep some consistency from when you and I did Denarius and Sonday last time.
Hey, Lolita Hey.
Which is like, so I had to keep it.
I had to keep it in that sort of like octave voice.
Hey loita hey.
Yeah.
So that's what that's why.
Well, I mean, like you did a little girl voice for Danny.
Well, yeah, the Danny's like 14, 15.
Yeah, I agree.
So, like, then I had to be even...
She hasn't even smoked her first blunt yet, you know?
I have to be even more little...
Yeah, she's going to do that this chapter.
That's what the fuck you...
Like, what do you think the smoking?
Dude, she does a gravity bong in this chapter.
Holy shit.
Oh, my God, I would do that.
Someone should make that.
Anyways.
I'm going to do it 2-9.
I love this line.
The merciless blue.
It really kind of set...
really sets a stage for what we're going through here there's so many different colors that come
through it like makes a great contrast with the bricks especially as we're reminded that at the bottom
the bricks are red really highlights also to the extent that what we're seeing what we're
witnessing here this is not mercy but it's also not just this and also makes you wonder what even
is the dragon's mercy right the way that it's been used throughout throughout this entire pov
because it does come up every now and then that uh the dragon's mercy not not very mercy right it's it's
because it's something that they're playing with.
And then, again, the contrast with the red bricks and evoking the idea of slavery
with how strongly it's become associated with the sayings for Astafor,
as we're reminded about, like, them baking in the sun.
Yeah, even beyond, like, the bricks making her and all of the imagery we've already experienced,
I do feel it's so strongly put of, like, the idea of, like,
the foundational bricks of slavery and the foundation being something you can't just
rip apart unless you're a dragon clawing at it from down below that Masandi hears.
And also, I can't believe you're going to make me say this Eliana bit of information.
Like, why did you not have it of?
I didn't think it.
Merciless blue, White Walker eyes, right?
White walkers, whites, whatever.
The eyeballs being that blinding, merciless blue feels important.
And also kind of brings me back to Ned 10 with the Leon.
a fever dream and how you have the streak of blood across the sky and then the blue roses as
well across the sky like just that the play of imagery and we get a lot more color and imagery
going on as you get folks in their colored robes and the different pews or bleachers out there
that they're sitting in in the stadium being different colors uh color plays a very interesting
role during this chapter it does it does comes up a lot we have daddy now rising
from the bath and clean.
It's typically how baths work.
And the sun begins to climb.
She would rather drift all day, eating iced fruit
and dreaming of a house with a red door,
but a queen belongs to her people.
Sajikwi helps her dress in the yellow silk tokar,
adding long red veils to shield from wind and sand
and also to hide the blood spatters.
Danny's handmaids chatter about the day's matches.
I mean, they're basically doing sports betting.
They're going online on what are those sites people go on to like,
What are those sites people go on to like gamble?
Oh, I've seen the apps, but they completely don't stick in my head.
I've seen them on TV.
People talk about that.
And they're like, 1,800, if we give you an issue and you lose all your belongings and your money and your family because you're addicted to gambling, call this number.
But if you don't do that, you should do gambling through us.
And it's like, ha ha ha ha, that's so funny.
We should.
Yeah.
So there are a couple of different sites.
I don't know.
Draft Kings.
Is that one of them?
Oh, my God.
I probably shouldn't advertise them.
Like, if you guys are, like, find yourself gambling too much, please, like...
Oh, call the 1-800 gambling number.
It's in the bottom of every gambling ad.
If you look at it on TV where they flashed at you with the casino and a celebrity is standing
there and he's like, I love gambling and throwing my money at these machines.
But you know what?
If you can't handle it, call this number because we ruined your life.
But otherwise, spend your money.
That's chic-wey and Erie right now, all right?
Spend your money.
They're chattering, and then Miss Sunday returns.
Oh, no, no, they need help.
They need help.
No, I'm serious, though, like, yeah, that's, like, terrible.
Like, the gambling thing, like, the sports gambling in our country, that's, like, disgusting.
It's gross.
Pretty scary.
Gambling's scary.
Yeah.
And Masande returns, telling her that Prince Quentin and his Dornishman seek word from her
and her king bids that she joined him.
Hmm.
Mm-mm-mm.
Yes, she does get that whole interaction where Hizdar is calling for her.
But also, I love that there's like the split.
She's connected here, right?
Like, she has to choose which useless path she takes.
Like, Quinton's path so far for her has been like, oh, this is fun.
This is a fun side path I could take.
Like, turn to page 72 if you choose to marry Quinton.
But then also, like, oh, I married Hizdar instead.
Turn to page 63 because you married Hizdar, right?
very fun different paths
but also both of them are kind of dead
and it seems for her and her development
she finds her true her true coupling at the end
yeah this chapter who will get the rose
who will get the rose
at the great pyramid
Barriston and the brazen beasts await her
when she arrives Barrison warns her
that he would prefer unsullied
instead of the brazen beasts
because he says they're untried freedmen.
The masks also hide a lot.
He never knows today or tomorrow if it's the same person under the same mask, right?
Like the owl mask is that the same owl mask as yesterday.
And Danny's like, I have no choice but to trust them to build this new world with them in it.
And you fret too much.
Besides, you are the greatest fighter I've ever had.
Nothing could happen to you.
Danny says.
Also, I don't know.
I don't know.
Is Barrison?
I mean, Bell loss exists.
That's true.
And he's going to be there all day too.
Yeah.
I mean, like,
Beresil overtame for just little just because Bellwoss will be ill, like, literally ill.
Yeah, literally.
As opposed to, like, my nails, which only look ill.
Yeah.
So.
Termera.
It's also, I think, like, something felt interesting about, like, what they're pointing out
about the masks and, like, how you can't trust, like, someone else could be
underneath them. But even beyond that, because they're like, what face could be under the
mask? And I'm like, well, you don't even know what person's under the face, too, because
of the faceless bin. That's it. That's all. Anything could be happening at any time. And I guess
the mask thing kind of does come to fruition with Quentin, because he's like, we're not really
raisin bees. We're going to go die. Barreston.
Dog. Dog. With glaucus. For a second, I thought you were being like dog. Don't say that.
You're just to call me your homie.
Then I realized what we were doing.
I would call you Big Dog if we were doing that.
Big Dog.
Oh, my God.
What's up, Big Dog?
Oh, God.
Bereson tells her that Pretty Maris wishes to speak to her.
You can hear sirens, everyone.
Claiming the tattered prince wanted to sway the wind blow into Danny, sending her secretly ahead.
But the Dornishman betrayed them.
Bersen says he doesn't really know that he believes it, but they'll join them for a price, allegedly.
and that price is that the tattered prince wants pentos.
Yeah.
I love this line here that Danny thinks.
Marine needed iron, not gold.
Yeah.
Ooh, that's great, especially with all of the iron-born stuff that we're seeing, right?
Paying the iron price versus paying the gold price, seeing that alongside Victorian on his mission to her and his fire arm.
That's true, yeah, yeah.
right to one bare arm.
Very interesting.
Like the focus there, don't have anything
more eloquent or cohesive than that.
Just I think there's something going on there.
You know, Marine needs
a stroke of
reality and not just paved
in golden embezzlement as Hisdar
would have it be, with all the
secrets beneath the surface.
And then we have this bit of
he would wait until they march for
Westeros and thinks about
Elirio, right? Danny's like,
oh, I couldn't do that.
I couldn't give Tatters pentos because of Illyrio.
And I owe him.
And I won't repay him and them by giving them a cell sword for their city.
Embarrassing agrees with the ruling.
I think that's so interesting, considering I think this is exactly what she's going to do.
Yeah.
First of all.
Second of all, because she's going to find out Illyrio's a piece of shit who betrayed her.
And also, like, your boyfriend.
friends of CellSword. So I don't know that it's going to be similar to the old bad show, but
will she leave Dario in charge in one of these cities? Not Pentos necessarily. That might be
Tatters in his group. I mean, it will be let's be real. But will Dario end up in charge somewhere?
Like, it kind of reminds me you were talking about Circe last chapter, right? And some of these
ideas of leaving Cell Swords in charge or leaning on them. And I'm like, oh, but actually I think you might
end up doing just that very thing yeah part of me even doesn't even know like we've discussed it
will he like survive and then if he doesn't is that the catalyst you know for danny going also ape shit
I don't know doesn't it make you want to go ape shit yeah yeah no that's what I love that meme
you know what meme I'm talking about no I don't I don't know any memes I'll give it to you
don't know any movies don't know any memes but um literally know memes are the only thing you know
we've literally done an episode about this.
Yeah.
So that's something that I wonder.
But, yeah, the Iron Price thing.
It is interesting because also like blood and also makes me think of Stannis stuff.
Anyways, I also think it's interesting, like, because as you said,
she's absolutely going to do that to Illyrio and Pentos because it's going to be dramatic
and I'm excited.
And also, like, I thought it stood out to me that she wonders,
But what if I never march for Westrose, then what happens to like Pence doesn't even everything?
And also like the language here specifically she says like about like not repaying that debt by giving a city to some self-sword.
The fact that she uses the language of repaying that debt obviously can mean fucking anything.
But we do think of these as very tied to the language of the Lannister family, right?
With like a Lannister always pays his debts.
Tyrion loves to say it all the time.
his story's going to intersect with her.
And he likely might be one of the people who's able to disclose her.
Like, what do you mean?
Illyrio has a whole other fucking Targaryen that he's, like, backing, who went to Westrose also with a golden company.
They don't need gold, apparently, anyway.
I feel like there's a lot of reference to them in the end of this chapter, too.
I feel like they're here in spirit as well.
I love that you've called out the language about Tyrion.
Like, even also the language, it's, like, this would be his POV, right?
like if he was here he would be next for being like yes my queen we should repay that dead
stroking his mustache so it's uh feels like something that we're going to see in the future
more of when they're joined up and i did copy paste the meme for eliana of what i was speaking
about which is daisy leaning into princess peach saying are you tired of being nice don't you
want to go ape shit.
That's, this chapter.
Danny, yeah, that's literally Danny.
Is Daisy Drogan?
Ape shit, bro.
When Drogan shows up, he's like, don't, are you tired to be nice?
Sometimes just also saying that to her.
I don't know.
Well, look, y'all, it's game day at Lincoln Financial.
Sorry, no, that's not where we are.
We're at Ford Field.
No, I'm so sorry.
as a sports podcast
these are not the places
we are at
we are in Marine
we are a sports podcast
though
it's Daznax Pit
it's game day
and his dar
is helping Danny up
onto her palanquin
to go see the
fighters fight
to get to the tailgating
to get to the food
she's got to get on
her palanquin
don her floppy ears
we have a line
from his dar
all men
must die
but not all can die
in glory
with the cheers
of the city ringing in their ears.
Oh, what a statement.
It's a fascinating statement.
Historic has got very twisted ideas on what people want.
He does say, like, it's an auspicious day.
And I'm like, yeah, I guess it is.
Mostly for Danny and Jogon and, like, no one else.
But there's also something interesting going on here with the language.
Like, obviously the Alman Must Die and Lange Gola stuff.
But, like, the talk about the glory, right, and what it means
die in glory and how the fighting pits represent that because like the fighting pits it is a true
fight you can truly die in it right but in a way it's it's fabricated it's not true war or
combat and it really reminds me and ties it back to some of those themes that were explored
in the earlier parts of aswaf prior to like the war of the five kings all these like
nights of summer itching for that war and for glory and then you know seeing where that all leads
Yeah, I like that
The blood
I mean this chapter is about blood
Dude
Yeah, it is
For funsies
But a battle
I mean
Look at all those guys with
anger issues
From getting their heads dented
And their football helmets
I know a couple of them
It's not great
But it's like the broken man on speed
Right?
Like we're speed running
The Broken Man right here
In the arena
We're playing the game of war
But we're playing it
And we're playing it fast
The card game of war.
See, yeah.
Or thumb war, right?
Because it has a fun phrase too.
You know, like, one, two, three, four.
I declare a thumb war of the five kings.
I love a thumb war.
I do that with my partner all the time.
Really?
That's sweet.
Yeah, like, even just like casually, I'll be like, one, two, three, three.
And, like, I usually win because he's never ready, fucking bitch.
But, and you can tell him, I said that.
I would say even here, like, even as we start.
this chapter, there is a strong evident of
Drogon's feelings and Danny's feelings being connected.
There's like this exhaustion and heat around them
even as they get loaded, as she gets loaded under the palanquin.
And it really makes you get into her mindset, right?
Like I can almost hear Hizdar saying all this bullshit to her.
Like I can imagine being her loaded on this palanquin in the heat
like dissociating half of the time like she's fatigued when drogan is drogan is when she is
like they are one yeah they are one flesh more than he and danny more than his darned danny have
ever been or will ever be one in flesh absolutely we'll get into that i know you have some
stuff pointing that out too later on and a great drama leads their procession and they
cheer danny when they see her across the very plaza where she once impaled 163 masters and she's
like, she's like, is anyone thinking about this? Does anyone, like, think it's weird?
I mean, I'm proud of it, but yeah, exactly. Like, this is a game. Yeah. This is all a game in front
of her. Doesn't anyone remember what I did here? Behind the drum marches, I'm doing it, girl.
Yeah. Behind the drum marches, massed, brazen beasts, bearston, her blood riders, her maidens,
and a bit back, the Dornish retinue. We also have, I don't know, this line from George. I'm like,
ha, ha, ha, George. He goes, lions and tigers and bears, right?
Oh my. Yeah, he's cute. He's cute.
Danny hears the girls gossiping about who's going to win in the quote-unquote lists.
She thinks they're used to death. Death rides with every calisar.
She then remembers her wedding to Drogo where men died while others made it and thinks life and death went hand in hand amongst the horse lords and a sprinkling of blood was thought to bless a marriage.
Her new marriage would be drenched in blood, how blessed it would be.
well so she did get married right recently in a chapter we did if you guys were here for all that
and I was uh I was here during that they got married last chapter right but isn't this chapter
the more exciting of the weddings isn't this the bigger red wedding of the two yeah there are a lot
of beats that relate to red wedding here right the the drumming as we go through we get the boom boom boom
of the drums.
Yeah.
Yeah.
The dissociative nature.
Drogan arriving and like fucking eating and eating everyone.
Yeah.
This is a wedding, right?
Bride of fire.
Mother of three.
Three fires you must light, et cetera, et cetera.
This chapter is a wedding of her and Drogon, right?
It's a bonding.
This is a dragon bonding.
This is more exciting and bigger than the bonding she felt last chapter with his star.
She's out of body and Drogon.
is coming. His bonding's coming. He's like waiting in the wings. Wait, he's waiting in the wings.
No, I was here with the coming part. I was like, oh. I'm glad you with me. Like, it makes me think of
John, right, with ghost at the end of this book. He's tasting blood because ghost is near.
This is like the starts bonding with their wolves. There's a blurred line. I know you want it.
There's a blurred line. I know you want it. Then blurred lines are going to bond with your
dragon, you know, like
Blurr-Lens, like this is
it. It's all leading up to the
moment where she mounts
Drogon. It's coming.
Don't make it like that, Aliana.
It's bigger than that. No. Well, it is
bigger than that. That's true.
It's more than just sacks.
It really is, though.
It's making love. It's intimate.
Oh, my God. I'm joking.
Hang on.
No, but like, kind of, but not.
But kind of, but, like, don't joke.
But, like, yeah, kind of.
Kind of.
Yeah.
Like, I am aligned.
I don't agree, but I do.
Well, it's interesting because, like, she has it at both of her weddings, right?
Like, with the, with the, Drogo has given me the wind, right?
When did the silver and then the riding of a little dragon here, yeah.
What's it going to be?
It is really aligned.
I'm if she, like, does get married one last time.
I don't know.
Just John?
Just riding a person?
Crazy.
That's just John.
He's fine.
Whatever.
If you'll remember, if you've been with us long enough, you might remember when I said
that John Snow was like porridge with a face or something like that.
I don't feel that way anymore.
Like, I actually really love Fitz chivalry from Farsier.
I mean, John Snow.
But...
Lowell.
Same character.
But, like, I do love John now than I didn't.
But Danny is, like, she's...
all the spice I need if I got a pick between the two.
Danny's got it, girl, she's in.
This chapter specifically, I'm like, George, George.
He did really good.
This one happened.
Today I like reread it twice and I was like, Jesus, it's good.
The Marine chapters, like, I know that people think they're a slugged,
and obviously I find very frustrating for various reasons that we've all explored.
But, I mean, they're better and more interesting than, I think, like, the way that things
were tackled in in John's chapters, like, in terms of, I felt that that one was, like,
too repetitive for me and slow.
Like, could have condensed a couple.
Yeah.
But the drumbeats increased, and they come to an abrupt halt, which his dark questions,
a palanquin lays in their path, its bearer collapsed, overcome by heat.
Danny commands the collapsed man to be given food and water.
Beerson is uneasy, eyeing the people lined up on the terraces, and he says,
he doesn't like this halt, suspecting a trap, which honestly, like,
I don't blame him.
People actually do legitimately do that in some places.
Like, they'll be like, oh, my God, there's a car crash.
Or, like, they'll just stop the car, get out.
Your car is flanked.
And you're getting robbed.
That happens.
Yeah.
Anyways.
Then he starts to talk about, like, the sons of the heartbeat before his heart cut them off and says,
no, they've been tamed, that they wouldn't harm the king and queen,
especially now that I'm their king.
Why would they harm her?
And I'm like, are you, like, just telling on yourself?
Which, like, I mean, we all knew.
We all knew.
He commands that they help the man, as Danny asked, and Danny watches the brazen beast at work.
Hmm.
Those bearers were slaves before I came. I made them free.
Yet that palanquin is no lighter.
True, said Hazard, but those men are paid to bear its weight now.
Before you came, that man, he fell over, would have an overseer standing over him,
stripping the skin off his back with a wink.
Instead, he is being given aid.
It was true.
Was it?
Danny, was it, right?
Danny supposes she should be thankful for these small victories
that this is the beginning of a new Marine.
It's kind of sad because there's like two thoughts here.
I don't want to live out for a second, but I'm going to have to live out for a second.
Can I live out for a second?
Are you okay if I just live out a little bit?
Because to quote a great musical, what is legacy?
It's planting seeds in a garden you never get to see.
Um, or to live out once more, Mamdani, Hamilton, my son, you were named for the two bravest men I never met. No, I'm just kidding. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. What I'm really saying is that like, you know, you can't always control it, right? Sometimes it's one battle after another. I'm sorry. Okay, okay, I'm done living out. I'm really politics core right now. I'm putting it away, putting it under the bed. Uh,
No, I'm like, what are these crazy noises in the background?
I don't know what's happening.
Some crazy vent.
Oh, you could die.
Yeah, you might die because of the vent.
And that's okay.
Like, I'm willing to figure it out, I guess.
You have my notes.
You can do the rest.
Oh, my God.
I could make a noise like Aliana, and I could, like,
I couldn't even figure out who was Glinda and who was Elfava last week.
Okay, I need you.
I need you.
All that matters is that.
I'm done.
Conferred.
Humphrey?
Yeah, you are.
Dan Humphrey.
So embarrassing.
Wait, but does that make me Blair?
I don't know.
I don't know.
It's embarrassing.
Dan Blair is the OTP.
At least the season they were dating, so they had to be dating the show.
No, there is something there right, like, is progress, progress.
Do you get to see everything that you hope to give to the world, or do you have to just work at it bit by bit and hand off to the next general?
someday and like see that progress move on and does it happen overnight? No, but also like
then when you see how the other side lives, how can you live? Like isn't there a certain level
of greed that you see and it builds all this hatred? I don't know, dude. I don't know how it all
works. I don't know who we all are, what we're all meant to do. But legacy and the next
generational suffering and like what we do to help lessen that suffering is something hard
to grapple with and Danny maybe is being lied to here by being retold like oh this is fine this is
a step forward and maybe it's a step forward but maybe it's not a big step forward what do we
get to do while we're here I don't know a lot of questions for all of us right I'm not saying I'm
some great fucking liberator abolitionist that's been able to like save people's lives I haven't
bad. Danny's not real also, right? So, like, that's another point here we can bring out,
but it's true. It's very frustrating to be alive in a world where you can question these
things and say, what is enough? Have I done enough? Wait, in the words of a great
musical writer, Lynn Manwell, Miranda, and a mediocre to poor, Leif Scoresby,
Lynn Manwell Miranda, have I done enough, or sorry, when my time is up?
have I done enough? Who will tell my story?
Okay, I'm done lipping out again. Sorry.
I libed out without asking about it, but I lived.
I lived.
I mean, like, it's not even like just Hamill.
I mean, like, people talk about it, right?
Like, you do, we talked about it a few chapters ago.
You have to move the ball forward, like, where you can.
But it's also, like, have you, as you said, like, did you truly move it forward as much as you could?
And, like, honestly, she didn't.
And she knows that.
She knows that.
Like the field and football.
My God.
No, that's true.
A down.
How many yards down did you get it before you passed it off so the next person can take it and like.
You get four downs.
Wow.
I know how football works now.
Yeah.
As an Eagles fan, you do.
Yeah, actually, all these things are true.
So.
No, they are.
Go birds.
Go birds.
I should probably actually follow the season.
and stuff and watch things.
We just won, by the way.
But in my heart, I am.
We did just win.
Isn't it raining there?
But you know what sucks?
We won against the Lions, who's my other team.
That's so hard.
That's so hard.
Thank you.
The whole time I was like, go cats.
Go birds.
Go cats.
Go birds.
But, yeah, the Lions lost.
They do deserve better.
They did get some rough calls.
It was fucked up.
But the good news is I'm also a birds fan.
So I still win.
You still won.
Woo!
Woo!
Yeah.
It's cheating, but.
Oh my God.
But yeah, so I will say like there's something that I saw earlier today that I thought
was interesting where they were talking about like community organizers and they're like every
effective organizer that I've ever met, they never are like, I've done enough.
They're always like, there's more that I can be doing and should be doing and that's why like
rest and being intentional about rest is important.
And I think that's the thing, right?
His or I was trying to tell her, no, you've done enough, you've done enough, that's the lie.
You haven't.
None of us have.
But you need to organize and figure out how you present that next wave, right?
Like, there's this great bit again in Hamilton.
Oh, my God.
I'm sorry.
We're going to come back to this because, like, the day Mom Donnie won and the day after my parents were staying with me.
And I was like, here's how I can punish my parents for having me.
They should have never birthed me.
Here's how I can punish them making them watch Hamilton throughout the day.
And I did.
I put it on Disney.
Disney Plus, which, like, that's, like, not a very good threat because I'm like, oh, I'm going to put Disney Plus on to really show you.
Like, I really libed them out.
Do they not like it?
But my dad actually got really into it.
I feel like, yeah, I feel like he would like it.
Dude, he got into it.
Anyways.
But that also is it, right?
Like, there's this moment in Hamilton, spoiler, if you haven't watched it on Disney Plus or watched it by going on YouTube and typing slime tutorial Hamilton.
Oh, my God.
Trade secrets on our podcast.
if you're not listening.
Yeah.
Yeah, slime tutorials, baby.
You can watch whatever you want.
And then there's like an underground world under that.
I'm not going to go into it totally today.
But like people will literally trade or sell better versions and the good versions of musicals.
And I have a few.
Anyways.
But in Hamilton, there's this great moment where like, actually it's great but terrible,
where Hamilton gets a letter about his friend, John Lawrence, from John Lawrence's dad.
And John Lawrence's dad, like, Eliza, his wife reads it.
and is like, you know,
Lauren's died leading the first black battalion of men into battle and blah, blah, blah, blah.
And he's like singing this refrain, this late motif throughout the story.
And Hamilton, like, looks up, just fun.
And he's like, I have so much work to do in response to the death.
And that's Danny, right?
Like, she often feels that way.
Look, we're tying it back to Acewaffe.
She often feels that way in response to failure, losing, etc.
where she's like, there's so much more I could be doing for liberation.
There's so much more I could be doing to fix this world.
These people live in and to give freedom.
And, yeah, I don't know.
That resonates with me.
Again, not to lib out.
That resonates with me.
Not to blank check pod this, but.
Yeah.
I think John feels the same way too.
So that's something that ties them together.
Yeah.
This losing.
The losing between them too.
Yeah.
The losing also.
They lose a lot.
But, bro, they want to do more and they lose a lot and they try a lot, but oh my God, do
they try?
Oh my god, do they try?
That's been going around as a meme lately.
They arrive at Daznox Pit though.
We finally get there.
There's two bronze warriors looming overhead.
Bellwoss and Bereson flank them.
His Dar leads them through vendors selling sausages and fig, states, melons, palm granites, and
honeyed locust, which Bellas devours while Danny sticks to the fruit.
Yeah. Yeah. Yum. Good digestion. Right. Fruit. We love that. Good fiber. It's true. Natural sugar. No added sugar.
It does seem like, I mean, she might need a little less fiber based off of like what happens to her next chapter. I don't know. But.
Well, I mean like one to bind them, you know. That's true. It does a lot of things.
This entire passage reminds me a little bit of like Sanzah and Aria. You have the her choosing like the less messy food. She's like, no, I'll just take a little.
little fruit. Like, I'm not going to worry about that.
She doesn't choose the messy food.
And it reminds me of Sanzah with the pomegranate, right?
But she's like, oh, no, I'll just eat the pear.
Well, Bellwast is like, I will eat the honeyed locust.
I love hot wings. And then also Aria and the food fight, right, with the citrus and
throwing a food fight at the beginning and the dress and the getting died.
And then Sonsa and the tourney coming up, right?
Like, this feels like we're going to see a lot of this language as Sonsa experiences the wing night.
attorney in the future at the veil.
So fun.
And then also we get this view of the bronze warriors who are in battle.
They are like against one another.
They're in battle.
They're sculpted that way.
There's no winning.
There's no losing.
That's where they are, which is like obviously indicative of Danny and where she is in
the city and that there's no winning.
There's no losing.
There's just existing in it.
But also reminds me in the Titan of Bravo.
Yeah.
in Bravos, but also with Sonsa, because it's Peter Baylish.
Oh, that's true.
That's true.
Yeah, with the offering, as you said, you tied it all together.
Amazing job.
Thank you.
I was only thinking, yeah, it does feel so tight in the bravosy, like,
bravos dash why, not bravosy to me because of, yeah, the way that they're guarding
this entrance sort of, but it's very anti, I guess, theatrical to what the tight end of.
propose represents so it's kind of funny but yeah they got a similar thing ascetic i just want to say
about the honeyed locusts his darp points out that they're first rolled in spices before being
honey so they are like hot and sweet and i'm like oh it's just a hot honey which is like very in right now
very people love putting it on like pizzas and stuff right now so yeah it is very sexy mike's hot
honey got very big right yeah exactly if i worked in food i would have a vendor
who made something like that.
Yeah.
Goodbye.
These are in.
These are very in at this moment.
And I like them.
Okay.
Asme Squalor, that's so in.
Boost.
Asme Squalor from Lemony Snicket to the Aersatz elevator.
I only read the third book.
You should read the fifth and six.
It starts to really pick up.
I've only read both three.
Somehow.
I do love me some lemony.
I do.
I do.
So across the pit, we get a view at the graces.
This is, of course, in a, like, Coliseum Auditorium, you know,
we're seeing, like, the Selena Meyer vagina-shaped memorial.
Oh, my God.
The graces sit across the pit in their various colored robes, the blues, the greens,
all that.
And the great masters are up on the red and orange benches.
And the envoys of yun kai are in the yellow.
wow LGBTQIA plus we support it they love the gays we do it for the gays they have gay benches uh no i really
did actually love that like we have the rainbow somehow strewn out here like skittles uh yeah also
reminds you of like what renli's like turny and how it's a farce too i guess yes the rainbow cloaks
yeah the rainbow guard yeah i find it interesting also that like specifically they're talking about
you know, some of the different families wear a color, as you're saying, like, teams and
sports, right? Like House of Loroc.
Oh, like football, but the other one.
Exactly, exactly. But like, so House of Lorok, like Hazar's family, they tend to favor
Tokars in purple, indigo, and lilac. I guess it is kind of like house colors, too, whatever.
But obviously, like, these are colors that we associate with royalty. Like, I think you all
know that about purple, which Galazagalari told us is the legacy.
of like the Zolorak house, you know, very, very esteemed.
But I thought, I don't know, it was kind of fun because these are colors that we also somewhat
associate with the Valerians, right, in their eyes.
We've heard about people having purple eyes, indigo eyes, lilac colored, like the different
shades of it.
Indigo eyes by Peter Murphy.
Stream it, Siri.
Well, she's not.
I was like, please don't.
What if she listened?
it's a good song you should all listen to it but great con the royalty the purple and the colors like i'm
seriously like there's something fascinating they all add up to one people right like this is the rainbow
the scope of the entire people of marine and it comes back kind of later as we talk about the people
that she's governing or the people that she's attempting to govern and who is governable who's
not and who gets to receive the benefit of being governable or not and uh
I highly recommend, for those of you that haven't gone to see it on Broadway, Death Becomes
Her.
Eliana, this includes you.
Oh, word.
It's so good.
It's really good.
It's such a good show on Broadway.
I highly recommend it.
Megan Hilty and Jennifer Simard were so funny and so good.
But there's an incredible song that all I can think about is this.
It is Megan Hilty's character playing an actress, a very wonderful actress, singing this.
song for the gays
G-A-Z-E but yes
the double entendre's intentional and she's
literally singing for the gays and like they're these
guys in a rainbow
they're wearing rainbow assless chap
jumpsuits in the background and like she
ends up like changing into Liza Minnelli outfit
and then into like a Judy Garland outfit
and it's like literally it's for the gays
but I highly recommend jamming to it
because it's so good because now all I can do is just
sing it in my head as I think about this it is
LGBTQIA plus
really respect that
you know go Marine
at least they're progressive about one thing
allegedly
wait do you not agree
no I'm just kidding I know you don't
I'm literally kidding it's not true
they're not progressive
we already saw that actually
so the freedmen crowd the upper tiers
they're in the black and purple benches
cell swords mixed with common soldiers
and brown ben plum
and blood beard
they're also in attendance
his darlifts his hands and shouts
show your mortal art marian and the crowd roars in response they chant nisha mother and they shake the pit
this is sparta i mean yeah it's kind of what's being about a little danny let the sound wash over her
i am not your mother she might have shouted back i am the mother of your slaves of every boy
who ever died upon these sands whilst you gorged unhoneyed locus
Behind her, Reznak leaned in to whisper in her ear,
Magnificence, hear how they love you.
No, she knew.
They love their mortal art.
It's a really-
Love jacking off. You're so right, Danny.
It's like he's leaning over to her.
Like, you know, remember that beam of like that woman in the club and the guy like just leaning over.
That's it.
That's literally every Resnack ever.
That is literally, wow.
Yeah.
Eliana, on that day, you birthed a meme. Good job.
Wow, I did it. I evoked a meme. Good job. Team.
This is a really, like, powerful line, the way it's written and, like, the spirit that Danny has behind it.
But I do think it's kind of like, it's a difficult line to tread. Like, I admire the line.
And I don't really have a whole, like, conclusion for this. So I'm going to, like, it ends with a question because I'm, I'm just kind of thinking through the whole thing, right?
Like, I want to talk through it of, you know, we've been talking about, like, how part of the barriers that Danny faces is that she rules over a piece.
people that she essentially detests.
And as for the freedmen,
she doesn't really interact with them often
or give them any sort of voice in the ruling
in government counsel.
She rules over them,
like to an extent that like she hears both,
like, classes of people in the throne room,
but she hasn't been doing that a lot lately.
She's kind of stepped back because, you know, I get it.
She's fucking tired of it all.
And she's like, whatever.
Like, I feel, I feel declawed.
So his daughter will just,
do it, I guess. And some of the other character POVs, though, they explore this idea when
it comes to family of, like, you can't choose your parents. But also, you can't really choose
your children, regardless of who they are, right? Like, regardless of who your kids are,
it's your responsibility to care for and raise them. And we see that the story shows us many
parents who failed to do that, the way that Tywin didn't want to dwarf her son and then
abused him or he neglected his other two children essentially, right? So when we think about what
it means like to be a mother for parenthood, et cetera, like what does it mean to take on the title
of Misa, which is mother, right? It's it's not like a pan-lingual term, right? It's not
Valerian, which like some of these people are valerian. Some of them come from many different
like cultures, but it's a Gascari term specifically. And the freedmen come from, again,
many different cultures and ethnicity, some of which they shout, but Misha is Giscari.
So if she rules over them, is she not also, or is she also like their Misha?
Or is it only those that she seeks to fight for and to free?
And I think that's very honorable of her, of course.
Like, of course you want to say, like, these are the people that I'm fighting for.
And you should.
You absolutely should.
And like, you should fight for the people who need someone to fight on behalf of them.
And I'm not saying that she should or any of us should simple.
sympathize with the nobles and the elite and the masters and the slavers but i am thinking something along
the lines of like when it comes to parenting to be not also think of discipline right like has she
been disciplinary enough or curtailed uh the kisgari nobles enough to be fair to perhaps the other
children of hers aka the freedmen not that their children none of these people are free
are children like that's really tantalizing but oh yeah some i guess some of them could be
I don't know. Anyways, if queenship and rulership are equated with being Nisha, and she rules over this entire city and must bring law to all of them, then where is the line drawn for whom she is mother?
Right. Like, do you get to pick and choose who comes out of you? Right. What is free being, like, what does free mean?
You can in a way, but once they're out.
Yeah, once they're out. They're yours. Do you get to pick who's your child? Like whether you get sweet Tom and darling Marcella or very misunderstood Joffrey glossing over that beat. What about Gregor and Sandor? Right? Like their father certainly chose to be fathered in one of them and not to be other. And like life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, right? That means individuals have the right to exist to be free from oppression and seek fulfillment and personal well-being. What are you?
does that mean? What does that mean for those you're choosing to rule or like, do you get to
pick who you rule and who you don't? Yes, no, but do you get to actually put those boundaries
into play and say it then instead of just flirting with the idea of it? What does it mean?
What does it mean to be free? What does it mean to be free, Aliana? What does it mean?
Obviously, the Giscari nobles have significantly more rights than everyone else here, right?
And they significantly suck.
Yeah, but it's also like you can't only choose that you rule over some people because, like, if you take that too far in one way, like, is it, you know, I'm like, are you denying, but that is what they did to the slaves, right, denying them citizenship?
But it's like, what do you do?
What do you do when you rule over people and refuse to rule, like?
refuse to rule.
How do you choose that?
Yeah.
Yeah.
How does it work?
I mean, honestly, I don't know.
That's why I'm here.
I'm like, I don't know you.
And she doesn't either, dude.
Like, she doesn't either.
Neither does.
Yeah.
He's an author.
I don't think anyone does.
Like, I don't look at my fellow human and think, like, would I be able to live your life
better than you?
Like, I don't think that.
Like, I don't look at someone and think, how do I live your life to the max as if you
are not already living it?
I think all you can do is give somebody the opportunity to live their life to the max, right?
Like, that's all you can do.
And if they take it, great.
If they don't take it, that's okay, too.
Yeah.
As long as it doesn't impede on somebody else's taking their life to the max.
Yeah, to the max.
To the limit.
Like, live life fully, bro.
Like, life is good.
I get that.
And if you don't want to live moss, that's okay, too.
But, like, don't impede on somebody else's live mass.
like yeah don't fuck with someone else is gordita crunch bro no are you living crunch rep supreme
i don't know but everyone else should you know the doritos locos what if taco val did sponsor us
sponsor us it sounds so good right now like shut the fuck up if you would shut the fuck up like all i can
think about is tacos anyway so finally they begin and his dart leans in just like the guy at the
club and he's like explaining strategy to Danny constantly and he says Krause will take the first
honor of the day fighting a summer isle spearman it's pretty set up he kills he removes his foe's
heart he takes a bite of it and danny then thinks of eating the stallion's heart how it didn't save her son
rego and she thinks three treasons you shall know and starts to mull over her thoughts of betrayal
up next is the spotted cat who is fighting a very tall
very slow foe.
The cat puts a foot on his back, a hand around his head,
and then opens his foe's throat from ear to ear.
We get some commentary from Bellwoss.
I know Eliana is smiling about this one.
He says, bad fighting, good dying.
Strong Bellwoss hates it when they scream.
Real.
He's like, so indignified.
We have the Pale Carthine and the Black Summer Islanders
and the Copper Skint-Doth Rocky and the Tyroche with blue beards
lambmen, the Jogos Nye, the Salon Bravosi, and the brindleskinned half-men from Sothoros.
All of them die in the pit.
Yeah, it's about right.
This one shows much promise, my sweet.
His dar said of a lysine youth with long blonde hair that fluttered in the wind.
But his foe grabbed a handful of that hair, pulled the boy off balance, and gutted him.
In death, he looked even younger than he had.
had with blade in hand.
A boy, said Danny.
He was only a boy.
Six and ten, Hisdar insisted.
A man groan who freely chose to risk his life for gold.
And glory, no children die today in Daznax as my gentle queen.
In her wisdom, has decreed.
Another small victory.
Perhaps I cannot make my people good, she told herself.
But I should at least try to make them a little less bad.
Oof, that's real.
They are embarrassing.
We are all embarrassing.
We your people are embarrassing, Danny.
This kind of reminds me of young Griff, though.
And I think you have some other thoughts that I'll relate to as well.
But I'm sure people have said this probably before.
But like the mini meta here, like,
The long blonde hair fluttering in the wind.
His foot grabbed his handful of hair in death.
He looked an even younger man than he had.
Ben, it very much feels like, oh, killing a lysine boy in battle, is that what you're
about to do to your cousin, nephew, relation, whatever?
I mean, he's so, like, far, I guess, basically, he's like a cousin.
He is kind of a cousin.
I don't know, like by that point.
Oh, like Catamari, you're looking for all of your cousins, just like Camarri.
Well, I'm just like, I don't know, the Blackfires are like at least far enough back that
it's a little less related, you know?
but kind of not really
it's less related than if he were actually
again that's true that's true
I like that regarding
a young grief and aigan and I kind of wonder like
would she even feel as badly as she does for him
as she does for this boy right
for me I actually thought a few of the veil
like dying during that tourney
when we're first introduced
to like the idea of life not being like a song
and people are just dying,
just dying during sports, sporting events.
As you were saying.
I don't know that, I don't know, is this the sports center?
That was baseball.
Are you fucking kidding me right now?
Oh, it is.
No, you're right.
I'm used to them playing anime songs.
what is with the beep redacted team
I mean everyone knows
it's the Dodgers
they play anime songs
they play the attack on Titan song
I've taken a lot of shit for you
do you know that in real life
in public people are like how could you support the Dodgers
and I'm like for my best friend
it's taken a lot
You don't have to support that
I would do anything for you
I'm strong enough is what I want you to understand
Thank you.
I would do anything for you.
I wanted to comment on your hue of the veil thing.
That this made you think of hue of the veil
because also I feel like this chapter, again,
is very closely linked to Sansa's tourney chapters upcoming in Tiwau.
This is a hypothesis that I think this thing.
Like, I can't prove it because we don't have Tiwow
despite what you at home looking under your chair might bring.
that said if you do look under your chair
it is under your chair
T-wows out and you have it
that also said you don't have it
and I'm so sorry
Sansa going on to like this tourney
of the winged
whatever with the fucking errand
who cares about the errands right now
I care about Danny
I hear about two wings and they're drogons
but Sanzah and her wings
and like Hugh Harding right
and he's all like ooh like I'm
to treat you like shit, but also like I'm into you,
ha ha, of sexy brunette.
And his whole thing, and Sonsa being like,
I'm going to win him, even as a bastard.
I'm going to make this guy really like me.
But also I think he's going to die.
Oh, he's obviously going to die.
Like, if you've listened to our Elaine...
Everyone's going to die.
Chapters.
You've listened to Elaine Tiwow.
I think he's going to die because he's a red herying.
Yeah.
And that's coming for him.
so very much he would avail as well
like so this is kind of fun because this is attorney
this is where we're watching the weak
motherfuckers die so if he was
here rip
he's going to die
Darya's going to die
oh but wait
you know what I love
equal rights because women
are going to die too
they are right now soon
this pit is an equal gender
opportunity experience women they them
and he him are going to die
love it
Barsina Blackhair is like, women should be allowed to die on the sand.
So Danny had to let her.
And she had also tried to forbid follies, right?
Like comic displays like we see at Joffrey's last wedding.
Comic combats with cripples, dwarves, crones, all fighting with cleavers.
You know, cripples, bastards, broken things, fighting with cleavers, torches and hammers.
But Hisdar had convinced her, oh, well, if you let them,
And if you laugh with them, your people are going to love you.
And she's like, fuck my people.
The frolics, though, help to pay these folks so they don't starve, right?
Because otherwise, they would have no jobs because of how horrible the market is.
So she relents.
And she does, as for forcing rights on people, she's like, only murderers and rapists should be forced to fight.
Anyone else who persists in slaving, yeah, they should be forced to fight.
And thieves and debtors, they should not be forced to fight.
like she's like defining misdemeanor versus felony and they're like we're not ready for your woke left shit Danny
and I am yeah yeah I'm ready for it I'm ready for a generous Targaryen future there's that through line right of like
look now they get paid for their torture just like earlier they were a little too happy about the guy that passed out from bearing the palanquin in front of them they're like
a weak man passed out oh yeah but he's paid now by the way but he still passes out on the job which
which is like not normal.
Yeah.
I'm like...
It's like not normal.
We have a bunch of horses here now.
Like we have the technology.
We can just put them on a fucking carriage like everyone else.
I don't know why he's like, look, but that's great.
He has a job.
Great.
This is some fucking like the children yearn for the minds shit.
You know, literally yearn for the mines.
Yern.
They still had allowed the beast to fight.
And the only watch the elephant make short work of a pack of red wolves.
feels like that means something
a bull against a bear
which left both creatures dying bloody
that could mean something too
his dart tells her that the butchers
will make the carcasses into a stew for the hungry
and offered it to all of the people at the gates of the fate
and Danny calls it this is a good law
and thinks that he has so few good laws
next comes a mock battle
six men against six Dothraki
mock knights
in male hobrocks and
long swords in horsemen
with Iraqs. At first, the riders
have the advantage, but then the knights attack
their horses to Jekwees' disgust, who
says, that was no true colissar.
And Danny says that the carcasses
shouldn't be allowed in the stew
at the fate gate. He sir says,
the men are not, but the horses are. And
Balwa says, horse meat makes you strong.
I thought it was Pines again.
Okay, that's
that's not right.
Right, like, despite Danny's
lack of alignment with a religion up to this point, I would say that the Dothraki culture is maybe
the closest to what she considers her home culture at this point. It's also very similar to
her actual culture that she doesn't know much about of, you know, the Valerian, and they're like,
yeah, blood sacrifices and, like, my dragons eat everything. And that's cool too. But in the Dothraki
culture, men and their horses go together. Yeah. This is a folly. Like, this
right here is a folly before this is sorry like i'm not trying to get emotional but like now
their souls will never be free together they don't get to gallop into the nightlands together and like
that's like wrong like we like learned that was wrong we've learned that and i'm getting really
upset i'm sorry give me a moment it's not right it's not right and like it's kind of meta to watch them
have at first the dothraki had the advantage and then they get killed and is this a mini
look at what's going to happen when the Dothraki come to Westeros, right?
Like, are they going to at first have this advantage from horseback and whatever?
And then, like, the Westroatsy men and their fucking male and their Hobark male and they're, like,
everything are going to, like, cut them down in their longswords.
And it makes me really sad because we've humanized this.
Yeah.
I think we might see, like, both.
And also, at least, like, probably that everyone will be burned.
because we have to so they don't turn into zombies.
Yeah.
So there's that.
That's true.
We'll keep that in practice.
For me, like the no true colissar, it kind of like, it was kind of funny to me
and that it like reminds me of like the no true night thing.
Again, speaking of attorneys and things that happened to tourneys and lines that were dropped.
No true night.
No true night.
Sorry, I'm sorry.
It's wicked time.
It's not my fault.
It's literally like, no good deed.
No, we're on part two.
I know.
I still haven't watched part one.
I'm so behind.
I mean, it's been out for like even before that.
It's been out for like over like probably two decades.
I highly recommend you go on.
This is better than watching it.
Go to Reddit.com slash R slash Cosmo and Wanda, which is basically the same as wicked where
you see things posing as Cosmo and Wanda in the wild where it's like a pink and a green.
It's basically Glinda and Alphabet.
but it's the same thing.
It'll catch you up.
Okay.
It's the same.
Get out.
You gotta go.
It's the same.
It's the same.
Yeah, I like the no true night, no true calisar.
That is it, though.
And it is a, like, her outcrying of that.
Like, that's no true calisar.
That's no true knight.
That is, that's like a, you know,
like you're seeing your complete religion defiled in front of you for sport, for game.
I think of sports, like, okay.
I know we're sports podcasters now, and I know we like sports.
So I feel like there's some honesty in it that, like, I get the bread and circuses for all of us.
I get it's a fun performance, and I get we need this thing to focus on.
And when I went down to Broad Street to watch the folks gather because our team, the Philadelphia Eagles,
E-A-G-L-E-S-E-G-E-S-E-G-E-S, you know them?
The winners?
Yes, the guys that won.
The winners.
They're winners.
Thank you.
I just wanted to make sure that was said.
When I watched their parade, there were millions of people up and down Broad Street
gathered together, celebrating the Eagles that maybe not always necessarily would have been gathered, question mark.
Like, these are people that, like, yeah, they came together and they celebrated this thing that brought them
together on a normal day they might not of. And it makes you wonder when you see all those people
together, like, how could anything bad ever happen? Like, I mean that really honestly. Like,
how could somebody get hurt if all of these people came together for one thing, right? Like,
no matter what the thing was, like, if all of these people came together, how could we not do
something? How could we not make something happen? And then to have something so, like,
sanctified dishonored in public like oh look at my big hero and he's won each of these rounds in the joust or each of these rounds in the pits and having that one lofts like that is a very deep way to hurt someone or hurt an entire gathering or hurt an entire movement even to say like here's your thing lost like when I went to that fucking parade I thought the world could heal I was like holy shit
If all these, like, millions of people downtown in Philadelphia who love the Eagles could come together, like, I don't know, protests, like, you know, the fucking, you know, what's happening to Palestine and Gaza.
Like, if somebody could protest that with this many people, how could they say no to us?
How could they ever say no?
So, like, sports are really interesting because it's something that is so powerful.
But at the same time, it's like it feels false in a lot of ways because of the way they've commercialized it.
And Danny is sitting here forced to watch that exact thing.
She's forced to watch, like, as the people that follow her, that are great followers of her,
their faith be destroyed on the sand.
They are putting out, they're like, look at these Dothraki.
Oh, now they're bleeding out in the sand and they're dead because they're weak and you're weak.
That's not very affirming.
That's not a way to keep people engaged in a low morality kind of scenario.
So I find it very interesting.
Fascinating sports.
I enjoy it.
It does, like, it provides something, you know, for people.
But at the same time, yeah, as you said, it's not, it's not like,
sometimes it can have the capacity to move things forward, but it isn't necessarily that, you know.
And, like, it's, again, it's, yeah, as you said, the bread and circuses of it all.
Anyways, next comes a pair of jousting dwarfs.
They're important to the story.
One is riding a hound, the other is riding a sow.
Intriging.
One wears Robert Barathe and stag.
The other wears the lion of Lannister.
Bellwass is like cackling, snorting at this by now with laughter.
And Danny has a faint, forced smile on her face knowing this was made for her.
She watches them tumble and chase her mounts until his dar says,
now it's time to release the lions.
And she's like, what the fuck do you mean?
release the lions?
We talked about this.
The fighters are going to be grown men
who freely consent.
These people are not freely consenting to
fight lions, and she's like,
you need to fucking stop.
Yeah, she
says they have to stop, and also
so earlier you were talking about, like,
Amanda, the Palanquin, and, like, you know,
them being like, oh, now they get paid for their charge
torture and like not take but like they don't yeah it's all a farce turns out because they're like
yeah i mean he's like obviously the dwarists and all these people and the follies like they all
have to like get paid and eat right implying like implying that these wages are going to go towards
them eating and we know that's a lie because we have a pov of one of them we have tyrian
tyrian's pov that explicitly shows wait no not paid definitely a slave
explicitly so
and it's like
wait maybe like maybe all these people
maybe they're all still fucking slaves right
even without the thin veneer of like
wages like without like even
pretending the sharecropping part of it
like maybe that palanquin carrier
sort of like oh no he was treated so nicely
look they gave him water and treatment
but I'm like what if they only told her
that he was given aid what if they actually took her way
to take him away to be like we're going to whip
and kill him or whip and slash him
You know what's cheaper than giving him his salary that they're promising him?
Killing him.
That's cheaper.
Yeah.
Or just whipping him also, yeah.
Yeah.
It's...
Taking his wages.
They could do that too.
You can also just take his wages.
I've seen some shit recently.
I've heard some shit.
It knows no bounds, man.
It knows no fucking bounds.
And you can only imagine then that,
that this will have quite a bit of influence in Tyrion bending the need of Danny and following Danny, right?
Someone who does stand against this, whether she's successful or not, what she stands for.
And what she did hear that she stood up and said, no, I don't know these dudes out with the lions that are about to eat them.
But maybe it's wrong that we mislead them in their role and have lions eat them.
Like, that seems like a bad thing, Danny says.
And they're like, no, it's a great thing.
And she's like, no, it's a bad thing.
And it's, you know, interesting because, like, from one view,
especially with Tyrion, I think we'll get, like, a very intense view of Danny,
someone who's very direct in what her beliefs are
and very much following those beliefs.
And maybe unsympathetic in some ways, right?
Like, very unyielding, very much like Stannis.
But from another view, we're going to see a very sympathetic view of Danny.
I think that's so compelling.
Like, yeah, she's a dragon queen
and she's this tiny, way, 14-year-old
that is Satan in the eyes of some people,
but maybe not in others, as we're about to get into, right?
It's going to be her Davos.
Yeah, absolutely.
Like, I'd follow her too.
I'd get it if that was Davos-Dannis.
And for a moment, Danny sees a flash of anger
in his Dar's eyes.
It's, like, very small, very swift, but, oh, she sees it.
He tells the pit master, no lions.
and the pit master is like, well, they won't like that very much.
And he's like, nope, bring Barsina out.
She'll be the showstopper.
Yeah, that was so telling.
Like, that's kind of scary, right?
Like, the flash of anger.
Like, we know, we know.
It kind of gives away.
His star is clearly benefiting from all of this somehow
and is only pretending to acquiesce to Danny.
Like, I mean, he would have to truly acquiesce her
if she actually busted out the dragons,
which she does and doesn't in this chapter.
But, you know.
There's, like, a lot of Satan going on here.
Like, he's Satan in a bad way.
She's Satan in a good way, right?
Like, she's, like, Lucifer, and he's, like, the devil.
Like, there are two different satans, depending on when you tune into fictional, adapted
religious history.
If you're into that AO3 tag, like, sign up.
Here we are.
But, I don't know, it's really fun to watch, like,
He's evil.
She's, like, possessed by fire, but he's evil.
He's straight up literally evil.
Also, have you heard of the being evil trend?
This is very wubified by women on TikTok, but, like, it's literally trends that are about me.
Like, the first time I heard it was where this woman, I fall in very prey to this.
Like, me, pray to a TikTok trend.
TikTok is the predator.
There's Satan.
And I'm good.
I'm good.
I just watch 80 hours.
of videos a day.
Yeah.
So there's like this trend, like this woman did this video where she's like,
I found that like being evil after work, even for 15 minutes, I just tell like my roommate,
like I'm being evil right now.
Like you can't listen to me.
Like if you listen to like, I'm evil.
Like I'm doing evil things.
I'm like mean.
I'm evil.
Like don't talk to me.
And then also there's another version of that someone's like, have you ever tried to be
evil for 20 minutes before bed where you're just being evil?
That's great too.
So I think that's me.
but also like
it feels right for Danny
like be evil for a little bit Danny
yeah but I don't
just for 20 minutes
the irony is that if she were just to be
eviler it would actually be
less evil you know
yeah yeah which is what you've been saying
save the world you know save the cheerleader
save the world
the cheerleader is
the people of Marie
uh
Barsina is loved
his daughter says
and calls for the bravest woman
he's ever seen
which
bitch have you seen your wife
I know right
have you seen
you are married
to the bravest 15 year old
in the world
this is the worst nagging
I've ever seen in my life
if I was married to the 15 year old
that was super brave
I know right
he's about to see it
he's about to see it
he's about to be like wow
she is
she was not
Balaas says
fighting girls is not brave
fighting Belwas would have been brave
and yeah probably I guess
like for anyone
regardless of gender
but today
Barcina fights a bore
and Danny thinks well
she couldn't find any woman who was willing to face her
which like I guess like valid
she's only I feel like is Barcina just being
when she's just being paid to do this
like forced into like volunteering to do this
so that they
they would agree to also allow women to compete.
You know what I'm saying?
Did she really want to?
I don't know.
Anyways, the boar is pretty big.
Danny wonders at the one that killed Robert Barathe and looked as fierce.
No, it didn't have a stage.
Resnock echoes the love for Barsina,
telling Danny to wait until she sees Barsina dance with this boar.
And Barsen comments,
she needs a spear that this is no way to fight a boar.
feel like they're, I'm getting like hints of Brienne, you know, in Heron Hall here.
The boar dances for a bit, you know, boar, bear, boar bear, I don't know, dances for a bit,
but soon comes to a realization that if he charges, he's going to get hurt because
they're like kind of like pigs and pigs are very smart.
Bersina has the same realization and tries to provoke him and to attack her, but he doesn't.
When she charges, relief comes just a bit too late.
And so the boar opens her from her left leg, uh, from her cross.
to her knee, and she tries to hobble away, but the boar's on her.
I thought this line really just, chilling, stood out to me.
Danny turned her face away.
Was that brave enough?
She asked strong bell-loss, as a scream rang out across the sand.
Fighting pigs is brave, but it is not brave to scream so loud.
It hurts strong bell-loss in the ears.
She's never going to give an inch.
If you give strong-bell-wass,
a muffin he's going to ask to come in and lick the bowl uh glossing over strong bell loss
obviously who's going through some other stuff though he is going some other stuff now
it's crazy to watch him throughout this whole chapter in the background like it's so well done
it's kind of incredible um but i love that she kind of like comes back to that i love that
she's being petty about that was that brave enough oh you didn't think the women could be brave
in this battle, Bellwess. How about that? She's
fucking ripped open and bleeding out, and now
the boar wants to eat her guts.
Like, how do you feel
about that? But of course,
Bellwoss has a tummy ache.
I'm just kidding. I'm sorry.
He's poisoned and he rubs his swollen belly.
And he claims it makes him sick.
I mean, like, even good poisoning is still poisoning
and does give a tummy ache. So
it is a tummy ache. Oh, Barcina's
out there with her fucking vagina
to knee opened up, bleeding
out gushing. But Belaw
has a tummy ache.
Okay, Aliana, I see where you're loyalties lie.
I thought you were unhappy with the fact that you use the term tummy ache.
And I was like, no, I mean, it is a tummy ache.
That is what I'm always happy to make fun of people that aren't real.
The smell is more than Danny can stand.
And the imagery here is great.
She lifts her veil, which flutters away off of her.
And then she takes off her tow car.
Erie's like, what, what are you doing?
And she's like, I'm taking off my floppy ears.
And then men are descending on the field to put the bore away.
Yes.
Basically, because Danny's like, I can't breathe.
And, like, I'm trying to leave.
And she's having a panic attack.
She's having a panic attack.
I'm obsessed because this is so, like, she's attaching her consciousness to drogan during this.
Like, she's like, why can't I focus?
Why can't I breathe?
Is it the heat?
Is it the this?
And, like, she's tearing her clothing off.
She's getting rid of the to-car, the floppy ears, which obviously symbolic,
but also because Drogon is coming.
Like, oh, Lord, he's coming.
And it also brings back, like, Red Wedding, make an end to it.
And then later with Wyman Mandirley with the Mummer's Farse is done.
Like, she's returning to once she came.
She's taking off the floppy ears.
Like, she's about to be a fucking dragon.
And she asks Barreson, she's like, can you take me to?
my garden and everyone's like, what the fuck do you mean? Hisdar's like, what? This isn't even the end
of the third quarter. Like, we still have at least 45 minutes to go until the refs make a bad call
that puts us into overtime. What do you mean? And she's like, the garden, take me back. And I love that
because it's kind of the beginning, right? Like, the garden is the beginning. This is before everything
was sparked before you taste the knowledge. In the words of cold play, she's going back to the start.
Oh, yes, I guess so
Just like Coldplay
But as you said
Going back to the start
But even going back to what
Like maybe where the lemon tree was
You know
That as well
Rip
And she's like
Yeah
His dar
She's trying to get his dar
She's trying to get his dar
She's like
My husband
She'd take me out
And he's like
What the fuck
I'm still here
This is my thing
Yeah
But
And Eerie and Jiqui
They are also in it
They're still trying to bet
and Danny says that
here's how it's going to go. One will die
one will not and whoever lives will die
someday and she's like this was a mistake
which I mean yeah
she's right it was a mistake we should not have reopened it
and this line that one of the
things that his door was saying when he's trying to control
Danny into still staying
is like close your eyes no one will see
like if she just stays there
as though she's like afraid of it all
like please and
it's so down to me because it's not just
about the fighting pits right it's not like she doesn't
want to see the violence because she's sick and it's it's about everything you know just close your
eyes to all of the injustice that I have allowed to happen in this place that you have taken and
close your eyes to the slavery still persisting he's asking her to to have a quiet death but to still
live you know basically like the broken man right no one no one will see yeah it reminds me a bit of brand
brand one like you have to look or father will see that you didn't look right like the very opposite
of that, of the stark children being forced to look upon it.
Or Sonsa, looking at her father's head and having to look away,
like, looking at the pain and, like, grappling with the truth.
And then you kind of have the Aria thing, right?
Like, Aria just got her sight back.
She was just blind, and now she can see.
So Danny's kind of getting that idea of, like, her sight being played with them.
I'm like, no, don't look, don't look.
But how could she not?
How could she not, right?
Meanwhile, in the background, Bellwoss is getting sicker and sicker, the most important part of this chapter, obviously, that Bellwoss is poisoned.
He's like, I need milk.
Meanwhile, his dar is like, no, no, don't turn the people of Marine away from you.
They love you.
They want you.
And she's like, no, they want my floppy ears.
They don't want me.
It's so good, right?
Because she can hear everything going on during this time.
We have this line of she could hear the boar snorting.
the shouts of the spearmen, the crack of the pit master's whip.
But this isn't from Danny.
This is from Drogon.
She's focusing in on her power via Drogon.
This isn't just from Danny.
This is Danny becoming one with her dragon.
And Hizdar begs her to stay.
A shadow ripples across his face.
And every single eye there, every head looks up.
They look skyward and the sound of beating wings.
Things, freezes, everything.
Bellwoss falls to his knees.
He's moaning because we think about dragons, but like he's moaning because he's sick.
And above, Drogon appears, he turns.
He's dark against the sun.
And we have this passage that his scales were black.
His eyes and horns and spinal plates blood red.
Ever the largest of her three in the wild,
Drogon had grown larger still.
His wings stretched 20 feet from tip to tip, black as jet.
He flapped them once as he swept back above the sands, and the sound was like a clap of
thunder.
Whoa.
Thunder clap.
The boar raised his head, snorting, and flame engulfed him.
Black fire shot with red.
Danny felt the wash of heat, 30 feet away.
The beast's dying scream sounded almost human.
Oh, Drogon landed on the carcass and sank his claws into the smoking flesh.
As he began to feed, he made no distinction between Barsena and the boar.
Oh, gods, moaned Resnick.
He's eating her!
Oh, my God, the horror movie of that all.
Oh, gods, he's eating her!
That's a literal horror movie.
movie. I'm obsessed. Go Drogon. Good for you. Eater. Eat her. It's, it's interesting. It's fun.
Like, it makes me think of like, it feels almost brand-coded because I'm like, oh, Coltian's was
telling him it was pig. And I'm like, where's the pig from? Where are you getting pig from out
here? Right? And pigs are basically just small, naked tusclous spores, but actually, and the no
distinction between Bersina and the boar during the consumption, though, like, on
Honestly, let's be real, the boar is probably more delicious because probably a little more fatty,
even though it's like probably mostly as well, but like probably just more delicious than people.
But yeah.
He made no distinction.
I love that because it's like the coin ever flipping, the skin changing, the warging, the becoming one.
Like no distinction happening between life or not.
And like during this, to be fair, we're bell lost, not poisoned.
I would forgive him for the puking all the same
because, like, he's puking in the corner,
his Dar's face, we see it turn part fear, part lust, part rapture.
Danny can see the Paul's, house Pauls.
They're running up the steps, clutching their tow cars,
tripping over their fringe while others are following them.
Some run, some shove, some stay in their seats.
One man, however, tries to be a hero,
and he grabs his spear thinking he can kill the dragon,
with the boar spear.
Yeah.
And I don't know.
I thought, so many lines from the start, I'm like, what the fuck?
Like, was he just, like, very into all this beyond even, like, a, we have no TV or
internet slash I'm trying to make a profit thing?
Or, like, was he, like, actually quite into it in, like, an Ares very into watching,
like, torture and people dying thing?
It's so interesting you say that, because I was kind of thinking about this back when
you brought up the parent thing, right?
like Tywin who didn't want a dwarf or a son and abused him and neglected his children, right?
Or like the idea of like what parents want versus what they get.
And there's almost something there like of the Aries watching people dying like in the
the coin swiveling, the coin flipping in the air.
And I think he was always cruel.
I think you're right.
I think he was always cruel.
And does he bring out some of that, not necessarily that badness in Danny.
she doesn't really find herself aligned with him, but he's there.
And she said yes to him a lot.
There's something, something happening, something going on.
Like, hmm.
Yeah.
I mean, also like, sorry, again, Aries was also very smooth, right?
Like, his star was proven to be very smooth during this whole time.
He was like, oh, my queen, I'm going to wash your feet at our wedding.
By the way, slavery is back on.
I'm going to wash your feet at our wedding.
you know like he did the compliment sandwich a lot yeah but also i mean like true colors true
colors i was watching i was watching a video on tictock and i was talking we know this you and i
have discussed it before of like the studies that show that power can like warp one's brain
like how it develops its chemistry etc and this one was particularly in about like power
warping the brain and like you need to get yourself fucking checked if you find
that as you get older, you are not becoming more attracted.
And I think it was aimed at younger people who continue to get older, but also like any age,
probably as you keep getting older, like, if you find that you are not getting attracted
to people, older people as you get older and stay attracted to young people or find
yourself skewing younger, you need to fucking get checked.
Something's wrong with you.
And a lot of like that is about power, right?
Exerting power over someone else in regards to rape.
children and things like that.
Yeah, it's wrong.
And so it's like, is his star just like fucking like that, you know?
Yeah.
Profit for pain.
So, anyway, questions that I have.
But Drogon raises his head, blood dripping from his teeth, and the hero drives the spear at his neck.
And then, yeah, we have, we have that line.
Chloe, maybe one of Chloe's favorite lines in this whole chapter?
I don't know.
Yeah.
Danny and Drogon screamed as one.
Wait, can I quickly...
Killing.
Can I quickly say something?
Because Chloe's got a great thing here.
But when we got here, maybe think of, like, the prophecy and all the dragons scream warred as one.
Interesting.
Oh, my God, Viceris.
The other one.
Not Ryan Condal and Sarah
Hess. We love them.
I miss them. I want them to know that
like, do you think they know I support
them? I hope they do.
I want them to know that I want them to keep
making this show, whether
other people don't like it or not, because I do.
If Ryan, Condal, and Sarah Hess
have one fan, it is Chloe.
If they have no fans, she is dead.
I want them to know that like I would fight
for their freedom to keep making
this show. I would fight for it.
I do.
Misha.
So it's all about perspective.
Right.
Something fun that you and I do is we follow this POV by POV.
Interesting.
So when we are deep embedded into a character, the things that are about that character really stick out.
Danny and Drogon screamed as one.
Look, if this was a different story, the guy who was becoming a hero to kill the dragon,
which sidebar yes a bunch of people are dying against this dragon that's a problem yes to us the human beings that are currently being hunted by this dragon like stupid why is this guy fighting the dragon he's going to die like idiot uh but also if i was there
and this was my friend or my family being killed by the dragon yeah like maybe maybe i could see drogan and just like
liking that he is eating humans. I could see myself aligned with a response here that the dragon
eating humans is bad. I could sympathize a little bit. Like, I do want to call that out. I get it.
I get it. Like, I'm sorry to this guy that got trampled in this chapter, too. Like,
the Yung Kai guy, I really want to apologize. Like, all that said, I really understand it. Like,
what a terrible tragedy. All that said, it's interesting in this book at the point that we're at,
we're calling the people heroes.
I think of like the bravos in bravos that are the heroes of bravos, right?
And they're like known for being swaggering and aha, I'm a bravo.
Here's my sword.
Or like here you have a hero who is grabbing his sword or the men that are up in the lists
today are called heroes.
We have a lot of heroes around this time.
In the very last chapter, we have Theon, right, taking a literal leap to faith to save Jane
and to reclaim part of himself.
A few chapters back.
We have the John chapter where Alice and Sigourn are getting married and leaping to faith over the fire, quite literally.
In a fairy tale story, the guy with the spear trying to kill the dragon to save his friends and family and whatever from the beast would be a hero.
In a different story, he would be a hero.
But that's not what this story is.
To us, Danny is our hero.
She climbs Drogon.
We cheer Drogon on as he eats these motherfuckers.
because we've humanized the dragons through her eyes as her children.
We have seen these dragons appear.
We've seen them closely as familial to Denaries.
Danny and Drogon are calling out as one.
As Eliana said, the dragons roaring as one.
Danny and Drogon are in pain as one.
They feel together.
They are together.
That changes it all.
That changes exactly how you view this chapter.
And I think that's incredible.
I think that's fascinating.
I think George R. Martin has done something so particularly astounding in this chapter by doing that,
by having us connect to Danny, by having us connect to Drogon.
Any different story, we would think that guy with the spear that's about to get yeated and eated
is something interesting, something special.
But you know what?
We're not in that story.
We are in Deneerese's story.
We are in the world of Deneres Targaryen.
yes and i i love what you called out like of the language of like how it's hero and kind of like
subverting it as well because i mean that is like they called him like the hero of marine
back then right remember that guy who like went out there and fought and then did a bad job so yeah
i don't know but i also like what you're saying like i mean if your friends and family were there
like yeah wouldn't you go out and try and fight the big giant monster to save them and get eaten yeah
i would yeah yeah i mean like this is not what's actually
happening but like it's like it's like the people who go and try and fight the mass murder you know
like those people are fucking heroes but that was like a very spicy thing for me to say I'm
sorry everyone like I didn't like anyway I was in I was in so in the end though
drogan does eat him chom chom chom that that is how it ends uh who
fuck heroes and his dar shouts to the spearmen
to kill the beast and his dark tells her to look away while holding her tightly and she's like
what what the fuck i'm not going to let you like she's like i'm not looking away first of all i wasn't
going to look away before second of all i'm definitely not looking away now that's my dragon like
obviously i want him alive i thought you were all asking me to fucking use him this whole ass time
and everyone's just confused i guess they're confused about life and what they want
she escapes from his grasp and lands in the pit she loses a sandal
which you know that that's so Cinderella and also like Sonda losing a shoe coated
Sonsza 7 ASS yes Sonsa 7 ASS yeah
Barriston calls after her Bellwoss is still vomiting don't forget
that's the main storyline
and she's running faster while the men with the spears also run
everyone's running towards the dragon smoke
rises from Drogon's wound and he spits fire at the men closing it on him.
Oh, does it just like cauterize itself?
Interesting thing about biting at them, eating them.
And here's like, what I think is really fun about this is if you think about it,
because earlier she had to like fight and be like, don't fucking release the lions.
Like, when his story was like, wouldn't it be fun though to have like lions and the follies?
Think of how entertaining it is, right?
The Drogon is a reversal of the follies that were about to come.
It is a version of the lions that were supposed to be loosed upon the dwarfs.
And this is essentially what it means, right?
This is what it means to face a bigger monster and to feel peril, to be trapped in Daznok's pit,
to have no notice about like this surprise and to not consent to being there with a bigger animal.
Because I mean, let's be real dragons.
They're kind of animals.
So I'm just like, how does it feel?
How does all that feel to be in this now folly for the nobles of Marine, for the nobles of Yonkai?
Is this exciting?
Is this tantalizing?
Is it funny?
Are we having fun? Are we having fun? When I saw some of the notes that you had written for this chapter, I just want you to know that I was giddy. I was giggling to myself kicking my feet like a little girl going, that's why she's my co-host. That's why we're best friends. When I saw you literally wrote, how does it feel? I was like, oh, Eliotta is getting their asses today. She's getting them because that's it. Just like incredible. Wow. You
deserve a round of applause. If you're at home right now alone or with someone else, just start
clapping, it's going to be heard by Eliana around the world. It's heard by this man who walked
by me to go to the gym in the hallway where I'm loitered. Maybe. Get games, son. Get your games.
Maybe he should listen to Girls Gone Cannon. Has he thought about that? You know, the very first movie,
you wouldn't know because you haven't seen that one either. But the very first movie, you know,
they open it and they have like the train running at the screen and people are like oh my god
the train's going to burst off the screen and kill us and I'm taking this and paraphrasing it
for my roommate but this is like the train did come up the screen and did kill them like the
train was like yeah bitch I am here yeah like it's here flapping its wings yeah this is an
insane chapter it's eating them at their fucking folly yeah George George 8 this is Danny 9
but I want you to know that George 8 and so did Drogon.
George A.
And so did Drogon.
Amen.
And that brings us to the final passage.
Okay, this is the second to last passage.
And we're going to start it now.
Drogan!
She screamed.
Drogon!
His head turned.
Smoke rose between his teeth.
His blood was smoking, too, where it dripped upon the ground.
He beat his wings again, sending up.
a choking storm of scarlet sand. Danny stumbled into the red, into the hot red cloud, coughing.
He snapped. No, was all that she had time to say. No, not me. Don't you know me? The black teeth
closed inches from her face. He meant to tear my head off. The sand was in her eyes. She stumbled
over the pit master's corpse and fell upon her backside. Drogon roared. The sound.
filled the pit. A furnace wind engulfed her. The dragon's long-scale neck stretched toward her.
When his mouth opened, she could see bits of broken bone and charred flesh between his black teeth.
His eyes were molten. I'm looking into hell, but I dare not look away.
She had never been so certain of anything. If I run from him, he'll burn me and devour me.
In Westeros, the sceptin spoke of seven hells and seven heavens,
but the seven kingdoms and their gods were far away.
If she died here, Danny wondered,
would the horse god of the Dothraki part the grass and claim her for his starry calisar?
So she might ride the nightlands beside her sun and stars,
or would the angry gods of geese and their harpies to seize her soul and drag her down to torment?
I mean, the rest of like this chapter, this is the one that George kind of wanted to write from the beginning, you know, and as we've discussed many times throughout the Marinese plotline, I kind of read like the don't you know me.
I read it as kind of like, no, it's me, don't you know me?
Like kind of like the way that we would imagine, I don't know, it's many of the other people like when they see zombie person.
Like don't you know me?
Don't you recognize me?
But I mean, how can Dr.
Oh, like Stoneheart.
Yeah, yeah.
But how can Drogon recognize her, you know?
Like, she doesn't even know her.
She doesn't recognize her.
Yeah.
Quaith is like, do you know who you were?
And like, I don't know.
And, like, be a dragon.
Be a dragon.
Right.
She's starting to find that.
But there's also like this thing here with like Drogon's confusion and like his inability
to tell a friend from foe and the fear and the way that he's just lashing out at anyone.
it makes me wonder like and in his heart like is this what we're going to see mirrored in denarius's character arc right like later in the stories she's betrayed like the lines between enemy and family they continue to blur right because basseri's hurt her enemy and family again with with phaian the martels who are technically related tierian
tyrian and then eventually we don't know john don't you know him you rode him don't you know him i mean yes no good
by what I said.
And she'll turn, you know, against the people who do support her.
Yeah.
So that's something that I kind of feel like we're starting to see here of like what it means to be a dragon and what it means to lash out and hurt.
But also Barrison trying to distract Rogan and be like, come at me.
Come at me.
Instead and like trying to like sacrifice himself to save his queen.
So sweet.
He's so sweet but so fucking stupid.
Like I love that about him.
He's so brave and dumb.
You realize if Aries O'Kart had lived, this is who he would become.
Yeah, I guess.
But...
Grandpa Hymbo.
Yeah.
Biersen's emotionally smart.
I stand by it.
Something you said kind of made me think about it with the Dothraki of like, also, this is what
happens next chapter, right?
The Calasar comes and claims her for the starry Calasar.
Like, they're like, no bitch, you were supposed to be with the other old bitches.
or young bitches.
We don't care.
They might be like our age.
They're not that old.
These bitches may be really young, but you were a part of them.
And nobody said old bitches, and we meant it.
They're 20.
They're 14 and they're old.
Oh, my God.
Yeah.
Something about that really made me think about that, though.
So, like, clearly he's leaning to that next chapter.
And then we have Drogon roaring full in her face.
And she hears Barrison shouting, distract him.
she sees this reflection and when will my reflection show but but but but but she sees her reflection
in his eyes and she sees how small and weak she looks and she's like no i can't let him see me
afraid so she grabs the handle of the dead pitmaster's whip and she feels the leather warm and alive
which kind of makes me wonder like does drogan feel the blood that once pumped in the cow or
horse's body that
provided this whip, you know, like how far
does it go? We don't know. How far
does the tree feel? So
she grabs the whip and
Drogon roars and he snaps his teeth
and she's like, no, get off the
counter, Drogon. Just kidding.
I have cats. It's literally the same thing, but
like this entire chapter I want you to
imagine it as a battle between me and
Jaharis and Alassan as cat owner
completely. So she swings
the lash of the whip at him
until her arm aches and he
hiss is out, he spits fire down at her, she hops around to avoid it.
I have such a different connotation of the word pit master, a different definition.
It's around barbecue, which maybe that's not dissimilar, actually, from right now.
Anyways, so Danny uses the whip, which I think, I want to say, like, maybe it was who pointed
it out back then, or C-Star, like on our Discord.
Yeah, back then, and we're talking about the significance of it being the whip that saves
De Nere's life, like before, um, when the blood riders. And, you know, it is pointed that it's the
symbol of slavery and she's using it upon Drogon, like the freedmen are her children. And so are
the dragons. And yet she is using the tools of the master. Right. So I don't know. It feels pointed
somehow. I don't really know what's going on here. Like that's the most you're going to get out of me in
terms of this analysis because I'm running out of battery, like literally, I guess there's,
is there an outlet here? I have my charger. Anyways, feels pointed. I don't know what's going on,
but it's probably BDSM based on how the chapter ends. No, it's literally like the unleashing and
taming of the D simultaneously, right? Like, she's in ecstasy, but not like, I get it. I've come
before so I totally understand it like she's becoming Drogon Drogon's becoming her and how does
that mesh how does that work we do have this final passage I'll lead us into his wings beat
and he his his his belly again this is just Jake and alley the black blood flows from the
wound in his neck where the spear pierced him he is fire made flash she thought
And so am I.
Dineris vaulted onto the dragon's back, seized the spear, and ripped it out.
The point was half melted, the iron red-hot glowing.
She flung it aside.
Drogon twisted under her, his muscles rippling as he gathered his strength.
The air was thick with sand.
Danny could not see, she could not breathe, she could not think.
The black wings cracked like thunder, and suddenly the scarlet sands were falling.
away beneath her. Dizzy, Danny closed her eyes. When she opened them again, she glimpsed the
mereneas beneath her through a haze of tears and dust, pouring up the steps and out into the
streets. The lash was still in her hand. She flicked it against Drogon's neck and cried,
Hire! Her other hand clutched at his scales, her fingers scrabbling for purchase.
Drogon's wide black wings beat the air. Danny could feel the heat
of him between her thighs.
Her heart felt as if it were about to burst.
Yes, she thought, yes.
Now, now do it.
Take me.
Take me fly.
You're welcome.
Thank you.
Thank you.
I did it for all of you.
I came live.
Yeah, I mean, like...
I skin changed.
We basically, like, you know, took it from the ASMR and, like, kicked it up a notch, right?
It was like that.
There's no song.
Fire.
No.
But anyways, there's that.
This chapter and this ending, it's a, it's a happy ending.
It's the most important sex scene in the books.
That's what this is.
Yeah.
No, I mean, I do feel like we all just had sex.
Was it together?
I don't know, but we did just all come together.
Not together, but together.
You know what I mean?
Yeah.
Yeah.
No, it really is.
This is her skin-changing.
This is her ecstasy.
This is her big chapter.
This is her moment.
This is her flying high, comma, defying gravity.
That is, that's what this is.
And, like, as you said, her acceptance.
Her acceptance.
It's a literal acceptance of wedding fire.
Yeah, like bride of fire.
Exactly.
So.
Yeah.
It's crazy because then, like, again, we're going to come to 10 where it's kind of a little lower,
but it's also very searching and seeking and, like, going through the psyche of it all and, like,
what do I do? Do I really just, like, say, fuck it? What do I actually do? What's right here?
Like, how do I be right to who I am, but also be right to who my family is that I don't actually
know because I'm trying to connect to them and, like, what do I fucking do? And she listens to the,
you know, echoes in her head slash out of her head after she's shit.
her body out, which
I mean, I've done that
before, so I can't really falter.
But that's sad.
Not always good. But be
a dragon. Like, I mean, that's what she'll take
from it. So, and that
is, I think, the bigger
overarching message from the entire
book for George with her
was this slow, grueling battle
to lead her to
embracing
her nature, question mark.
We don't know. Nature versus Nurture.
a big question of the story. What is nature? What is nurture? And how does that affect or matter?
You should ask them around you and see what they think. What do you think they think? Hey, do you guys
like Denari's Targaryen? Hey, hey, can you guys talk? Yes, this is her big skin-changing moment
really tells us a little bit about what to expect for that. But as you said, like she's finding
herself and I mean it goes really well right but like the chapter but like this surrounds that
one theon chapter that one reek chapter right where they they jump and both of them they're
starting to find themselves there's kind of that going on here identity that's a big one the last
two chapters yeah well thank you everyone we finally got here we finally got to the chapter that was
supposed to start off this entire book and Danny's POV in it. But as you all know, everything
went the way it did. If you want, you can... We will not have an episode for Thanksgiving week.
We will be back the week following Thanksgiving to wrap up Danny's arc and then move in a new
direction. Can't wait to do that with you all. So thank you for listening. Yeah. And of course,
if you want to keep up with whatever, whatever that is, all the updates of when things come out and
What direction we will take?
