My second time hosting, sorry, I got promoted last time. I'm a series regular now, and I'm really excited to be able to introduce our special guests this time. Alex, Paralyx. Yay!

You know what's so crazy is I still have the audio files for that. that on my desktop and it's the one thing I have not like everyone's audio file that sent in for the king in the north speech. I, we got to do some more of that soon. You know, we really, we got to hook it up.

Yeah, they're giving it five stars nominating it for a BAFTA. You got Egot, EGOT, Eliana Game of Thrones. And yeah, it's really exciting. And what's special about this episode is also, Alex, congratulations. HBO knew that you were coming on to the podcast today and decided to drop the trailer for you. I mean, I was very pleased to receive it. It felt very correct. It does feel correct.

It feels correct. You know, the EW article came out. Every year for Game of Thrones or its related properties, EW does an article with like some, ew, ewe.com. Entertainment Weekly does an article that has some specific photos from like, whether it's from production that are very like, you know, no one has these. This is the big beat. Journalism's not dead.

Thank God. But they always like do a little interviews and whatever. And so it came out. The EW photos came out last week. Is it going to, is the trailer going to drop? because it always comes after that. It's like every year, that's how you know Santa's coming or every other year now, tragically.

It's like the ground hog, but for the show. Yeah, like that lasts a little bit, like the run-up before the new season, it does feel like, you know, like 11 p.m. Christmas Eve. Like everything's kind of just going in that direction. You're just like waiting for like, all right, it's almost happening. It's almost happening. It is ritualistic. I know folks that can't always watch it at the same time.

And that's like when it comes out, like on the TV screen, when HBO gives it to us three minutes before 9 p.m. on Sundays, Eastern time. It's always three minutes early that you can access it on streaming. Two to three minutes. It's there. It's like so reliable. And I just couldn't imagine not watching it on a Sunday. I couldn't. Thrones properties have had like my Sundays for what, like over 10 years.

I would argue like it's actually made Sunday nights big again. Question mark, like not to be weird, but. Wow, kind of like football. No, I'm joking. No, actually, though. No, like literally it is as big as football. No, don't give them credit. Don't let them have it.

It's as big as football, though. Like, I do feel. No, I know, but it's a ritual, right? Like, it's a family thing. Like, Eliana, when Hot D. came out, what did we do? We hung out for like 10 weeks. And he had family dinners. Actually, that was really fun time.

It was a beautiful time in the world. It was actually, I mean, like, everything's terrible. But, like, it was a beautiful time. We ate special food that we made with intention to be, like, with one another or bought food, depending on the Sunday. Like you said, 10 weeks and, like, made special drinks themed. It was special. It was a special time. Gummy worms into drinks and we're like, this is a sea snake drink.

It was. It was. I literally still have those Starburst blue drink mixes. I think you still have the gummy worms. I was like, I would have eaten those like a while ago. Alex, what is your ritual when you're watching a Gott universe property? We usually watch it. So we have like a really big team.

downstairs in the living room and so it's usually me my housemates maybe a couple friends over but yeah I mean it's definitely is something where it's like especially in earlier years when I was doing like road trips like I made sure I was home or like buy a TV for hot D or Thrones back in the day I don't think I was doing any traveling for 9 of the 7 kingdoms but yeah it definitely is something where it's like all kind of roads and plans converge around like that Sunday day blog. Yeah. And then you have like the post-end, no discussion slash arguments slash no, you're wrong, or the little kind of like school session you have to give for like the folks

who aren't in as deep or you're just like, okay, so this is this character, this is what that meant, this is this place. It's all, yeah, it's all part of like the ritual of it. I used to go and moderate afterwards, especially during Game of Thrones. I used to like do that and then be like, all right, time to go tell everyone to stop fighting. Not post-spoilers. Oh, no, Batman. Back on Thrones, I was still on TV tropes threads a lot. I think I was a mod there. And yeah, it would be...

Oh, I didn't know this about you. Right after the episode would end, it's a lot of, like, you know, get those paragraphs ready because the band have her might have to come out. Yeah. And also because we had to be like, you know, no spoilers. Oh, something that could be fun for this community. I've transitioned from Catlin to the Blackfish. My younger sister had a baby. So now I'm in like my gay uncle era. Oh, that's interesting. What caused this? So it's not like anything that I've done. It's just things that have happened around me.

It's just like the seasons of life. Yeah, the seasons of your love. Yeah. Okay, okay, that's amazing. How are you loving your life now that you identify as the blackfish? I mean, the uncle paternal of, no, ovuncular vibes are strong, seeing my little nephew and being like, This will all be yours.

And by this, I mean, like, my card collections and things like that. But, you know, somebody's got to inherit. Oh, my gosh. No, the cool nuncle, which we don't have a lot of cool nuncles in A-Swaff. So now you can be one. Yeah. Only a couple. Oh, my God.

You could also be, like, Gerrian. Oh, Lamister. I was like, who's Gerian? I just feel like Jerian's kind of a cool nuncle. Yeah, Jerrying was cool. Harlaw, he was a good uncle, the reader. Oh yeah, he's a cool uncle. Gotta make sure the next generation's literate.

Are you saying we don't? I feel like we do. I mean, we do, but I just don't want to. I mean, you're not wrong. That is what it would be. You know, I think one of my favorite bits from these couple of like, you know, marry your children. It's from like season one where Otto is like trying to get Vassaris to marry Reneer and Agon. It's just like, like the look that both of them had where Otto was just like, yeah, just marry your teenage daughter to your infant child.

And Viseras is like, he's two. I think that was just like a really, really good show out. It's a smaller age gap. It's a smaller age gap, I think, right? than between him and Allison. So like it's not crazy to me. Yeah. It's interesting to say that too

because there are two sides of that, right? Like if Vesaris had done it, people think there could have been peace. No, that's not true. Do you think there could have been peace? She would have had to tell Egan every day of his fucking miserable life to clean his room.

Like there's no peace in that relationship, first of all. But that on the other side of it, it's like, you know, Viseras was trying to break out. of living in like one of the most incestuous like marriage thronging moments ever because some people wouldn't stop fucking their wives and having a vigilion fucking children that had dragons you know what I mean like it was the dance was always coming so like Viseras was

in a way also trying to break out of that tradition like he was married to his fucking cousin that's like a branch away yeah but he did let his kids he did let his other two kids get married. Helena and Egan. So, but I'm not tricking you. Journey is still out. My own child, Reneira. Yeah.

Yeah, I'm like not convinced he like knows that he has those kids. As a fellow only child, like lock the fuck in. I'm with you on that, you know? Good for Reneira. So like there really aren't a lot of scenes of like the, the Sarah's kids like interacting together. Like Reneer with the others. Do we think that could happen in this season?

Some Helena would be nice with Rainira. Yeah, because it's like we do know that at least they start off in Kings Landing. So there could be an opportunity for Helena. I mean, obviously, I don't think she would ever interact with Aman. And then, you know, we know that she's going to have some words with Agon. But yeah. Because I can especially see her ending in season four with Agan being like an expanded view, right? an expanded view of like, here's everything we never exchanged.

Like, I could see her arriving at Dragonstone and it'd be a whole entire episode of her and Agan talking. Not unlike season eight with like the Iron Throne, the last episode where you have the John and Tyrion jail conversation going on. Like, I could see that, but with Reneura as Agin's prisoner and them discussing like Agan saying, all I ever wanted was my dad to ever like see I existed. and then of course leading to the end where she's standing in front of the dragon

and she like tells him let me have a dragon rider's death at least give me that respect or some shit and then we end. I think it's going to be like that. I think it's going to be like that. Like I think they're going to like actually talk quite a bit.

Yeah, they love a talkie up. True. Yeah, I can see that. Yeah, I can see it working. Like it does a lot of the pull that they skipped in order to get where they needed to be. Yeah. I think I do.

think she's going to be like give me like that sort of death and I do think like yeah to what y'all are saying like rainier's probably going to talk to helena and I think it's going to be like much more antagonistic than we expected especially because last season right ray nero was all like why helena she's never done anything to anyone but I mean maybe maybe it won't be a problem you know maybe they'll be fine but like seeing the way that the trailer is kind of painting like hey Rineira might be like going down a different path also a little or like especially after you know Jace dies because like I don't know I'd probably fucking lose it if my kid who like seemed pretty cool for the most part died. I mean this is something maybe Chloe can compound this year or go back on this too but like when you play CK3 and you start losing your errors it does start kind of like changing how you decide about things. No, you're just like, you know what?

Maybe I won't show you all mercy because life wasn't Explorbed me. Like losing your errors, it definitely does like, the policy starts to shift. It changes you. It really changes your errors in K3, but also in life. Yeah. I mean, CK3 is life, so it's just, yeah. Sorry, yes, of course.

I didn't need to imply otherwise. It's really condescending what you're saying, Eliana. Could you please just lock in here? I'm lacking in experience. Hmm It's true What Alex is saying They are correct

She's banging into the door So I'm guessing that's like maybe Jason Bela locking her. Because I also think like Bela is made it responsible for keeping Reneer on house arrest. And so yeah, then Jase goes out and dies. And then, yeah, I don't know. Yeah, it does seem some things afoot there because there is a little bit of Dragonstone in that first teaser a lot more than what you'd expect, right? Because where we left off is like, gollets next, right?

They're all amassing armies to fight on the gollet against Sharaqa lobar. and then King's Landing. Like Damon is like primed and ready. He's like, yo, I just saw this prophecy and it's all about Reneera, even though it's not. And we got to do it. So we got to take Kings Landing back. I will do this thing, Calisi, kind of energy. And then so we're going there and we're going there.

Like that's where it really should have ended. Now we have a chance. Everything's about to get really hectic. Yeah. I'm very curious to see how the balance of Dragonstone is in episode one. And, you know, she's going to leave a very light guard there, considering what happens later to Dragonstone. So she got to leave. Curious, we'll see that.

She's just saying an example for her future, great descendant, Stanis Baratheon, lightly garrisoned Dragonstone, profit, win. True. We don't waste taxpayers' dollars. My God. Denise, I will never get over that. Once it starts going like tits up for Reneira, she'll have like the status with like unemployment beer just like staring into the middle distance.

Do we think we'll get Reneer doing that? That's what we saw in this trailer. Yeah. You can tell because they added some like pink eye shadow under her eyes and that's how you know. Honestly, I think they should have done that with Stannis too. Yeah, she's not. She's not going to be sleeping very much, it seems.

But I did like, I thought if I'm interpreting that scene correctly, it was interesting that it looks like she's in Viseries's bed, right? Like taking that sort of mantle over. Or I thought that was Viseries's room. I couldn't tell. Because it was like, are you talking about the one where it's like she's on the bed? You can see like there's the like black circle on the pillow, that one? There's two.

There's one where I commented to both of you prior to us starting this episode. I was like, Rainier's skin is so pretty, right? Yes, yes, yes. Because we're doing the shot right above and the hair is kind of split out. And then the one where Rainier gets up, like, suddenly like sits up in bed and she's like, because, you know, people just love coming into her room while she's sleeping, I guess. Very Circey vibe. Yeah.

Or, well, usually they're trying to kill her. So I feel like that was the series' bed just based on the layout of like it being the canopy bed and whatnot. Oh, yeah. And there's like his like dragon porn. art. I just like went back in the trailer. Yeah, there's like the dragon human porn behind her. Yeah. And it makes sense because that room would be connected to his like train set, which is something that she also removes the, um, the blanket, the covers over. So she's taken over the sort of, you know, essentially like the king's quarters, right? Yeah, because that's where Agan's been sleeping. Yeah, because she did use to have her own room, right? But then Allison took that over, right? I don't know where she's been living.

No, Allison took her room. Allison is sleeping in Renira's old room. Yeah, that's what I was saying. Yeah, like... Happy Pride Month. Happy Pride Month. All the things she said, all the things she said I've read it through my home. Oh, my God.

Kind of through my head. Wait, someone should make that scene. Someone should actually make the scene of... I mean, there's enough, like, walking shot. You could do it, like, very heated rivalry style. Exactly. Stop. I want to make it.

Allison has to be Shane Hollander because of the dark hair. There's no other reason why I would say that. That's actually my only rationale. She would definitely be the bottom or the submissive to Runeira. Yeah. So, and then can you just imagine? Incredible. I mean, clearly.

I mean, look at those big doe eyes. It is a heated rivalry because they have fire and dragons. It's going to get like a high-valarian translation to put it as the second bird. and then we're set. Are you listening to Hollywood? Get on this. I don't actually know Valerian, so I'm like,

Laherie. I don't, that's like the one word that I know in Valerian, I guess, other than all the stuff that's in the books. Leiciri. Yeah. So, less, Dohires. Ugh.

So that's what we have for, so far. It only took like six minutes to make it gay. Only took like six minutes. The show took less time to make it gay when it first aired, okay? Yeah, that's like episode one, the book and running away to Dorn and eat cake and stuff.

And we're going to have Amon Targaryen Heron-Hall visions. So mommy visions. We're going to have Mommy Vision going on for Amon, right? Probably jealousy and probably a bunch of other stuff that's going to fuel him and give him rage

and like make him keep stabbing people. Love that for me specifically. But also, Allison was in the trailer and it looked strangely like she was at Heron Hall, question mark, question mark, question mark. Yeah, do we think, like, we'll get Emily Carey back for a scene like they did with Millie? I hope so. Oh, that would be sick. I like that idea.

Yeah, and especially if we get auto executed as he rightfully deserves, if Allison does go to Herringhole, that could be a way to get

Interesting Oh, the old romance Yeah, they're both so depressed that it's like what's going on there they're so depressed. I'm really excited for Kristen Cole to also go Shakespearean on us for the rest of his life. They gave him a footballer haircut.

Yeah, he is browing, right? Yeah, but in a European way. Which makes sense. Does the brother die with him at the the Aeroene? The Hightower brother, Allison's brother. I forget which

Hightower was. Wayne. Wayne. Does he die with Cole or no? He does? He was an officer of the City Watch originally. So they really remixed him quite a bit. And also I think that like lends to Gorman might get some of Otto's plot because I don't see Otto living past the first few episodes if he comes back and he will,

considering he was in the finale, right? So with that big like HBO montage that they put in every show, I don't know. It's kind of strange because they've really. not Gwain's world. They really have changed a lot of it, but he does die when King's Landing is attacked in the show. He like gets killed by Luther Largent, who's becoming a really big character again in the background. So Gwain's already pretty much dead in episode one in the books. He is in the background of this trailer. Oh, so we know who that is? Luther, we know? He's looming Largent.

Oh, my God. He's behind him. Nira in the trailer. If you see the guy with the gold sash, that's him in Kingslanding. So like when her and I'm like, let me just pull this open. Yeah, I'm like looking through it. See her and.

Oh, that guy. Okay, okay. Behind Damon. Okay. Okay. So something that I think is kind of interesting, you know, speaking of the City Watch, right? And Luther Largent is some of

point we've seen in the trailer, I have like a real thing to say for once. That is not just puns. The way that we've seen them taking Kings Landing and how we see like the dragons patrolling the skies and then Damon and the Red Keep like kind of executing people, it really reminds me of those early episodes of season one and the sort of like terror that Damon reeks on the city as in charge of the city watch. Right. It's very much that same kind of. kind of vibe. Going back to being all cops are bastards, all gold cloaks are bastards.

Okay, that's right. Yes. Yes. Turning it into like a police state more than it was, especially because we see the paranoia rising in Reneer. In the words of Matt Smith,

Reneer. It's so Matt Smith. It's just such a fun, heavy accent for Damon. It kills me. It just slays me. Just slays. me, but yeah, there's something interesting in that. Like, we're going back a little bit and regressing and things are about to get a little more stressful in Kings Landing. I don't think it's going to be good. People are dying. People are hungry. Now they're going to eat because Rineiro lifted the blockade.

Wow, that sounds like a book I've read. Yeah. Do you think that that, sorry, so Chloe's also like playing the trailer in the background of how we're looking at this. Do you think that they put the graffiti there. Sorry, I just got distracted because it looks like boobies, like the little, the little arches. Oh, like teets? Yes, like teets, exactly.

Actually, maybe. Yeah, I'm not joking. That's my insight. The Queen of Bastards graffiti is the one that I'm referring to everyone. If you go look at it, let me know your thoughts. Is this? The framing of it does look like boobies. You're not incorrect.

Yeah, because even like the, um, the drapes of whatever palanquin or whatever they're going through also kind of like could give you like clothes vibes yeah and I'm probably maybe I'm reading too much into it but they talk about people's teats and how that leads to civil wars a lot in the whole in the entire histories of as a whole it is really good visual framing at least like at the very least it's good visual framing especially when you consider like the teats and the river lance Maybe we'll see the teats. Oh, my God. Do you think we'll see them? Oh, I think that'd be really good, actually, especially, like, maybe if there's a little bit of a hat tip, too, to the Black Farm Rebellion somehow. In the captions, like, at the very beginning, it says the high septen is speaking.

So are we going to get, like, true fire and all that? Maybe seeds of that. I hope so. Because we already have the base of that, right? Like we've already seen the bastard child. Yeah. And especially with the bastard theme and the dragon seeds, like you've opened it up. Like actually that is a great way to pair that together and be like, look, Jace was right.

But now we've opened it up to them. That does feel significant. Wow. Wow. Yeah, that definitely looks like sheepstealer. That dragon at the beginning. Yeah, especially because when you look, there's no. No, there's, um, saddle.

Yeah, it looks like Raina is, or someone is hanging on for dear life. I think we all know Raina's going to be flying that dragon. Man. I'm curious, I'm, I'm sad. Yeah, I'm like sad thing about the dragon twins and like what doesn't, doesn't happen with them, including their like biodad, like, never talking to them after season one. Yeah. Seems like he might have something to make up for, I guess.

Yeah, I mean, it's also like if they're. merging Raina with Nettles and obviously, well, hopefully dropping the like, Damon Nettles relationship, question mark, question mark. I was like, is this an opportunity for David to like parent any of his like eight kids? It does become that. He does have a lot of kids. He does. A lot of kids.

He should have kept it in the balls. You know what I'm saying? And he's like my only child, Reneira. My wife. The only child I care about it. Jesus. And even that is a little far, does he? I do love that we're just inching towards Jamie Searcy on a live television set near you.

For all the eyes to see. Yeah, that's true. Yeah, he did choke her in season one. We're already there. He is the younger brother. Whoa. Wow. And then he did put his hands around her neck.

Yep. Yep. Yeah. Cargary and Valup are confirmed. I'm excited to see how that develops for sure. Damon and Reinerer ended kind of, I don't know, it was an interesting note, right? Because they spent the whole season amping up. Do they trust each other?

Do they not trust each other? Will Damon be loyal? Will he not be loyal? Oh, look, he saw a prophecy and now he's loyal. But, like, also he's loyal because he's being driven by fanaticism and power. And that also, you know, it can be, prophecy can be leaned into. from different angles for different reasons, right? We know this.

There can be different reasons to support prophecy, especially if it keeps you in power and gives you power. We also see Damon last season loving power, getting off on having power over others. And then when he's very, like, confused, because he's fucking high as shit in the halls of Aaron Hall. Because he's tripping his balls off, like, eating weird paste. He was on the pace, man.

He's been hijacked. He's getting trap or jackard. So all I can think is that like Rainier really is going to do some maybe some very intense shit this season. Because like how do you get from the Damon we ended season two with to Damon at the beginning of season four? Yeah, my household is split between like are they, I mean obviously they're still married, but like are they still like into the marriage?

or are they just like, we just don't have time or like the desire to like find other spouses? Yeah, I mean, they don't really have time, do they? So yeah, I don't know. Like, especially because he had like that scene in the small council where it's like he's talking across from Azaria, who's also kind of like orbiting Reneer in a way. So. Yeah, that's an interesting little polycule. Yeah, dude, nightmare polycule maybe in some aspects.

Yeah, not good. Honestly, that small council table is going to be a nightmare blunt rotation this year. Yeah. I'm like, who would be like important enough for like Reneer to like kill in a way that could like make you? Oh my God. What if like Reneira kills or like sends away one of the dragon twins and then they die? That would be a huge departure. Yeah, because both of them like survive through the dance and continue houses Vlarion and High Tower.

but like, yeah, we can do whatever we want. There's no book, no real book. You weren't there. None of you saw it. None of you know.
