Girls Gone Canon Cast - Minisode — Between the (HOT)D
Episode Date: May 29, 2026We're prepping for UNLEASH THE D and House of the Dragon S3. Quite frankly, we wanted to CUT the Tyrion Eps off at a good stopping point - end of Game of Thrones - and thought we'd dish on what ...we're watching, vibing, etc with before the launch of the critically acclaimed primer series, UNLEASH THE D S3. Critics are calling it "ahead of its time" and "hosted by generational talent." Join us for a splash of what we're watching - and what we're not watching - on today's minisode! Hello, welcome to Girls Gone Canon Records, a minisode.
I'm one of your hosts, Chloe.
And I'm another one of your host, Eliana.
And yes, we are, I mean, we're here.
We're getting ready to head into hot D season.
And it's kind of surreal, actually.
Nothing feels real to me anymore.
I'm like, oh, we're here.
It's here.
Every day of my life.
Exactly.
Everything is here.
And I'm just happening too.
Yeah.
That's okay.
Hot D is happening though
There's a bunch of ads coming out
We're really excited to
Start Hot D
with our hit critically acclaimed
Primer series Unleash the D
Eliana's laughing
I don't know why she's laughing
Award winning
Award winning
It should win an award
I really hope
by the end of Unleash the D
the final episode of Unleash the D
that we have an award
Yeah I think
I too hope for this
and I think you deserve it.
And I'm just really happy to have been along for the ride as a guest host.
But I host this thing.
I host this one, the minisode.
One time only I hosted it.
That's true.
No, you've done a really good job at minisodes before.
We've done them before.
And we will do them again.
I actually do enjoy kind of, I don't know if any of you want to hear about it,
but I do enjoy getting to talk to all of you about the things that also bring me joy.
So whatever.
What you also kind of miss every week that we don't record is basically that.
Actually true.
It really depends on the day.
You know, if we're recording a couple of episodes in a week,
we might talk a little less at the beginning just to get to work, get in there, really tear it up.
but we usually warm up and end up chatting for like 20 to 45 minutes before,
maybe more depending on the day.
You know, it just really depends.
Like we are friends and so it's often our catch-up time and we save all the juicy shit for then.
That's true.
We also discuss these a bit with all of you during Brapia hour.
You know, we have discussed quite a bit of media and we'll dive into that a little too
of what that feels like if you want to imagine.
This is kind of like brappy hour, so you can just call in response, you know,
it's your own test brappy hour.
Usually there's others here.
What are you watching?
What am I watching right now?
Okay.
Yeah.
I...
What's your whole thing?
Right now, we've been making our way through season two of One Piece, the live action.
Oh, the live, oh.
Yeah.
It's fun.
It's fun.
Okay.
How do you feel about it?
I think it's good because they like leaned into the camp, right?
Like they leaned into what it is.
And it's definitely fun.
We're also, we just finished mall, Shadow Lord, which have you watched it yet?
It's not yet.
No.
But you know what?
I did actually come back to watching Clone Wars this week.
I still need to get to doing that.
And part of what has prevented me from watching Clone Wars is I want to figure out a way to automate, like, how, like, automatically, essentially make a playlist because I know it's not all released in order.
And I don't want to have to, like, skip through the whole thing and manually play the episodes in chronological order.
I'm not doing that.
I respect that.
I am going to just watch straight through.
We're at season five.
It's too late for me to care about all that.
That's not wrong for you.
Like, Disney thought it was good enough for them to do it like that.
So why not?
You know what's weird is they have really, like, I actually, when they first came out,
I really liked their UI.
I thought they had a really good UI.
Like, they had things grouped very well.
They had very evocative, like, oh, yes, that is a group of things I would watch
based on their works.
It all flowed really well.
And I think that's downgraded so much.
Like, that's so embarrassing.
That's embarrassing.
and then Hulu, oh my God, Hulu metadata is just dogfucked.
Have you come across this?
I'm not sure, but like, it's not, a lot of experiences are not very great.
It's weird because I like Hulu.
Otherwise, I think they have some of the best sitcom offering and like Prime TV offerings in a lot of ways.
If it's funny, it's there.
And they have Love Island, UK.
Yeah.
Oh, wow.
Yeah, and Love Island, UK.
But their UI, like, we were watching a show and we got, you get spoiled because, like, they have the wrong data in the wrong place and it'll say you're about to watch an episode.
And it's not that episode.
It's wild.
That happened in America's Next Top Model series.
God, what cycle?
Cycle six.
So just be careful when you're watching cycle six out there, A&TM fans.
Yeah.
So that is among the things.
Chloe is watching. She slipped it in there. This is what Chloe is watching.
I did. America's Next Top Model. It will be referenced in our Patreon episode for Mocking
Jay. Yeah, absolutely. Reality TV. That's my reality TV fix right now. We,
well, so I got my roommate into it and he watches a lot of horror. I've kind of mentioned this
before on the cast. You know, he watches a lot of horror.
So, like, we'll be watching, like, a John Carpenter, like, in the mouth of madness.
And it is a movie that I cannot watch.
Like, it's to a point where I'm like, I'm a recovering Catholic.
Like, I can't watch these things.
That's Satan's movie.
I respect it.
I respect the art, but it's not for me.
And so I always give him shit about things like that.
And then one day I was rewatching America's Next Top Model, and he caught some of the cattyist, most insane, most like, misogynistic.
like 2000s editing of all time reality show style and he was like how can you watch this but not
John Carpenter how can you not watch horror movies but you can watch America's next top model because
like every single episode is just these girls being gaslit and given like arbitrary rules about
like what they're supposed to be doing it's like literal saw like what I saw in that that
documentary I was like this is saw I'm not
watched it because it's too scary for me but like they're literally doing body horror shit to these
girls oh no it's so incredible though because it's been like three to five seasons and my roommate
has now like that he's been into it like he got into it series the first cycle he was like okay
he started watching it while making dinner and then cycle two he kind of started watching a little
more seriously and by cycle three he was a convert he was in so like it's to the point that
you know before they do the judging i'm like who goes home
And he tells me his bet on who goes home.
And we discuss it at length of why.
And we watch the judgings and we're like, no, her face is dead.
No, she didn't give enough neck in these photos.
Like, we do this together.
Like, we're evil actually, evil code together.
You participate in the five minute eight together.
Yeah.
It's an incredible show.
It's awful and it's absolutely terrible.
And if they ever take it off the air, I will die.
Our version of this is coming up soon.
It's actually a little different, but Love Island, USA, not UK.
I have to see what that one's releasing, but USA.
What are the differences with why you would say that, though?
Like, what's the difference?
One of them, I can mostly understand the people without subtitles.
The other one I needed.
It'd be so funny if it was the opposite of what everyone was thinking.
No, it's not.
I'm sorry, it's just not.
Well, actually, there are some pretty big differences,
and I'll get into that in a second,
but Love Island USA Season 8 is starting soon.
And yeah, I got my roommate into that last year.
And honestly, like, hold up.
Like, Jeremiah, if you want to come on the podcast, you're allowed,
he's hosting book clubs.
His first book club was Song of Achilles or something like that.
And so I'm like, maybe he's allowed.
And his favorite movie is Panyo.
Oh, okay, okay, yeah, but that is, like, he is based for that.
I love Pano.
Yeah, I was surprised because I was like, okay, yeah, I like Ghibli.
But then he said Panyo, which, like, would not be my favorite.
That's a deep cut.
That would not be my favorite Ghibli film, but I love that it's his.
That's so cool.
Yeah.
So.
Okay.
Jeremiah knows ball.
Yeah.
Jeremiah knows ball.
He's allowed to come on the podcast.
And, okay, the biggest difference, though, I will say, between Love Island, UK and Love Island
U.S.
is, with the exception of, like, very few times, it is very, very difficult to make it to
the final four or to win Love Island, UK, if you are a woman of color.
Like, one time, I think, like, the final four.
four couples in Love Island
season six, iconic season.
Like,
all women of color,
if I'm,
I'm trying to remember everyone who is in the final four.
And it's like,
Love Island UK would never,
right? And like,
the men as well for the most part.
And I was like, that could never happen
on Love Island, UK.
So I will say that.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And that's all.
Like, you will see the most gorgeous woman of your life,
but because she is not white,
she will not advance or whatever,
like,
be, like, hit on by any of the men in Love Island, UK.
That's just, like, an interesting cultural difference, right?
That they don't even get close to that.
It is.
Wow.
So that is the biggest difference, I will say.
America's Next Top Model, like, I kind of see some of that, too,
between, I've only watched the Americas one, but they do have spin-offs.
And it's interesting to see the different ranges in diversity.
Yeah, there's different ranges in diversity.
The other countries could have a top model.
There are some actually, I was going to say some great characters.
There are some great characters on this show.
They are kind of still.
But there are like some amazing, beautiful and brilliant women of color on this show
and that are celebrated in each cycle.
And I think that's.
that's really strong and really good. I do respect that about America's next top model,
and that does kind of suck to hear.
Yeah. So, big cultural difference for the two different Love Islands.
But which one is more spicy?
I want to say that, like, in terms of drama, up until later seasons,
Love Island, UK has, like, usually, I think, it was more interesting to me in terms of, I guess,
the sort of drama and how they were editing things.
But the earlier seasons of Love Island U.S., you may enjoy, which I haven't really watched,
were hosted by Sarah Highland.
Right.
Of Modern Family fame, the Sarah Highland that I'm seeing every night on my screen
because we're rewatching Modern Family again.
Yeah.
So.
It's just so easy.
Modern Family is like such an easy show.
It is.
Once you've watched it once or twice,
like it's like slipping on a pair of slippers.
Hello, old friend.
You know, it's so good.
The jokes actually do get funnier.
There are jokes that like we still pick up jokes.
And I'm like, I don't know if I ever noticed that, which I think is crazy.
It's like 30 rockin that way.
There's a lot of like joke per minute going on.
Yeah.
We're restarting our like, I don't know, fifth, fourths, probably fifth, VEEP rewatch.
So always new things to notice.
I'm not close to that after watching it.
like eight times in a row, I'm taking a couple breaks for a year or two.
That's fair.
I think we were just like, all right, we're in between things.
Like, what do we watch?
Oh, but sometimes we're also, like, we're making our way for the very first time through
King of the Hill.
So that's something, too.
Oh, congratulations.
What has been some of your favorites so far?
Oh, we haven't, like, seen.
It was, I think one of the most recent ones that we just watched is where Peggy finally
realizes and they all discuss out in the open how her neighbor is having an affair.
Oh, John Redcorn.
John Redcorn and Nancy.
Yeah, so, like, that's...
This isn't a spoiler.
Like, this is, like, a very common, you know, thing, I mean.
Everyone knows it, right?
Like, it's like the running joke, but it's being, that it's being talked about explicitly.
We were like, whoa, television.
Spicy for that time.
Yeah.
So you're like, okay.
I'm trying to think, have you seen the cult episode yet?
The sorority cult episode?
No, I don't think it's, I think it's later.
Season one or like two, because you know, remember, like seasons had a lot of episodes back in the day.
God, so many, yeah.
So, this is season six.
That's one of my favorite episodes, okay?
Oh, we're not even close.
Yeah, you're, but you will be.
It'll happen so fast.
It'll happen like overnight.
You'll be like, oh, holy shit.
And then you'll watch the new season, which I have to tell you, no spoilers, no spoilers,
is really good.
I really enjoy the new season, the comeback, yeah.
And it's a continuation and there's a time jump and I think it's really great.
I hear it was good.
Everything's done really respectfully, really nice.
They did a great job.
I can't fault them.
It's a great show, though.
It's another really good background, like, need a little animated laugh.
And you know what's funny is my grandparents used to watch it.
They'd watch that.
They'd watch anything.
That's probably where I get my little.
love of TV, my mom's parents, but they would watch, like, everybody loves Raymond, the news.
Like, I would remember being over there for dinner and just, like, watching King of the Hill,
spending the night or whatever, and we'd be watching King of the Hill.
So it brings back kind of this cozy little childhood memory for me.
Just a little.
That's very sweet.
TV.
Yeah.
I think a lot of people actually have associations of King of the Hill.
Yeah.
Yeah, it's like of its time.
Um, because I don't remember carrying that much about it.
then other than like, okay, my grandparents are watching a show. But you know what? That's,
to be fair, like I think about my parents and they aren't ones to watch an animated show.
They're too mature and grown up for animated shows. My parents are. And like to the point,
like I've noticed it. Like my parents, like if I have something on that I'm watching that's
animated, they almost look down at it. And I can understand where that can come from, whatever.
So classy. But my grandparents love an animated show.
Those people are like, that's hysterical.
They will watch it.
I love that about them.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I made my grandmother watch like regular show with me.
I was also like in the adult.
I was like in my 20s.
I was like we're watching regular show now.
That's beautiful.
Yeah.
They just,
maybe they have like been able to recover their whimsy in a way that our parents might not have, you know.
I don't know that my grandfather would watch it, but my grandmother did.
My parents both, I mean, they were also fine watching.
animated stuff and with me doing it and like
wow this is something I guess that is good that my dad did
like we watched a lot of Avatar when it was on TV together
and Sailor Moon I made him watch like the very final season that I pirated or something
because it never aired in the US of Sailor Moon I was like
listen they never showed this to us when I was young that's why I'm watching it now at 18
because I know how to pirate now.
Oh my God.
See, and I...
That's so funny.
I remember downloading that on LimeWire.
I was up in LimeWire.
I was like, I'm a legally downloading Sailor Moon.
I have to watch the Real Deal version.
Yeah.
Yeah, you have to know what happens in that final season, which...
Absolutely.
We've never covered for you, but we'll get back to one day for the re-release.
We've really got to.
We've got a lot of things to cover.
It'll happen.
I think we're going to be really busy.
Like I know we keep joking in the main Song of Ice and Faireer podcast about not knowing what we're going to do.
But I'm like, girl, we more than know what we are going to do.
Like, we just need to actually do them.
Yeah.
Pick them and do them.
Like, we've got a list.
We've got such a list.
I just also think, like, in my defense, I'm like, I don't know.
They took their time telling us when they were going to release it internationally too.
So we can take our time.
Absolutely.
Absolutely.
All right. Let's talk about
what else you're watching. Let's talk about
one of my, like,
I think it's probably one of your favorite shows
now too. It's one of my favorite shows.
Hacks. Hacks, baby.
Hacks is so good.
Season 5, the end. I'm so sad,
but I'm like, I'm so satisfied, though.
It's really well done.
And even better, like, Paul Downs,
who also is starring in it.
You may know him, of course, from fame from Broad City before this, for example, and other shows.
He is one of the writers on it.
So I think that's so great that he's gotten to become, you know, he created it.
Him, Jen Statsky.
Jen Statsky did a lot of work on, like, Good Place, Parks and Rack, Broad City.
Right?
So this is that world kind of coming together.
It's so good.
So it is absolutely an incredible show, and we want to cover it someday.
I do.
I do want to.
I really love it.
Passionate.
No, I am passionate about hacks.
And also, like, Kayla and Jimmy are, like, I think my partner's favorite part of the whole show.
Hell yeah.
I love them.
Yeah, I'm kind of like, I don't know.
As you said, like, I'm kind of devastated that it's about to be over.
But they're doing a good job with it.
so far. So
it's just, I don't know.
I hate saying goodbye to this story.
So maybe it's great that like a song of a sinfire has never ended, you know?
It is great because otherwise you would like quit after T.W.
You're going to quit after T.W.
And then if he gives you dream of spring, you're like, no.
Just kidding.
Yeah, no, I'll probably be like devastated that it's over and be like, I don't know.
Yeah.
Then read it again.
Story will live on forever.
Yeah.
If you haven't watched Hacks, highly recommend it.
It's about a stand-up comedian, Deborah Vance, who is trying to reinvent her act, right?
She is an aging woman in showbiz.
You are not allowed to be that, by the way.
And of course, she gets hooked up with an awkward, plucky, young sidekick to help her write.
Ava Daniels, who is Hannah Einbinder, incredible.
So funny.
She's amazing.
funny as a motherfucker will make you cringe.
You will cringe so hard watching this show.
She's so good at it.
It's so good.
It explores like misogyny, misandry.
It explores, you know, friendship, loyalty, betrayal, sex.
Yes.
All the good stuff.
All the good stuff.
And funny women.
Oh, the really good stuff.
Funny woman, yeah.
That's not true.
Women can't be funny.
Oh, sorry.
That's right.
Women can't be...
Actually, this show
proves that women can't be funny,
so you should watch it.
Yeah.
And in this season,
something really exciting happening for us
is the guy from summer
I turned pretty and mean girls is in it.
Yeah.
It's incredible.
He plays a great character so far.
I was really glad to see.
I was like, whoa,
Connor Fisher, what are you doing here?
actually it was a really it's a really good role for him
it's kind of different he's been kind of um
pegged into like the the jock or the you know moody jock or whatever kind of
role so far i feel like so this is a real step for him to
show his chops in another way and show that he can do it and get other roles and
I actually kind of feel like he's going to get other roles out of this
yeah i mean also like i think they're in the middle right right now of like
filming the movie, but he'll get other roles.
I think, I'm not worried about him.
Wait, the movie, what movie?
They're doing a, like, the summer I turn pretty movie.
It's probably going to be about, like, Belly and Conrad's Wedding.
Sorry to spoil, I assume you all know how this, like, series will end.
Actually, I'm pretty sure we talked about it, like, in our last mini-so.
Probably.
I'm really actually sure we talked about it, so if you're keeping up.
get this, continuation themes.
Continuity.
Yeah. Yeah.
Interesting, right, because they're going to be independent.
Because, spoiler, if you haven't read the book,
but they don't get married, like, right away.
They live their lives a little bit, which is probably good,
considering, you know.
They're child brides.
They're literally child.
To, again, reference Broad City, yeah.
Lincoln, I don't know.
am a child bride my favorite i think that's like the line that i referenced the most from from it that's so
funny i think our household one is pkw i'm always like if we go anywhere i'm like pkw i've got your phone key
wallet alana oh that's smart i shouldn't teach my mom that pkw elana yeah also watching twin peek
Season three, the return.
I'm in.
No, okay.
I actually didn't know there was a season three.
Like, my understanding of the Twin Peaks lore is that there's only one season and it got canceled
or something, like, before it was done.
What?
Is that not how Twin Peaks works?
True.
I've never seen Twin Peaks, y'all.
You literally, we're going to need to not say that to the public.
Anything I say now could not be bad.
Like, thank you for priming the way for me, Eliana.
No.
there are two seasons of Twin Peaks and then it ends and then there's a movie Fire Walk with me
and then season three the return came back in 2017 so in 2017 I was rewatching Twin Peaks
season one and season two with the goal of watching season three and I never watched it
uh thankfully I married into a Twin Peaks life so well one day one day one
of the marriages she made. It is being watched for me.
Not this one. Yeah, one of the many marriages.
You know, you've got to do a couple marriages until you find the right stuff.
But I do recommend it.
Actually, and I was literally going to say and preface this with, of the people that
listen to us that are Twin Peaks fans, which is a non-zero amount, I'm going to say
selling the sounds. I feel like it's a significant amount.
It has to be. It has to be. There has to be cross over there.
I feel like at least 50% of you all listening to this have watched Twin Peaks.
Only until it got canceled in season one, though.
I thought it was like, it never got renewed, you know?
I didn't understand.
That's okay.
It's okay.
It's not your fault.
It kind of is.
It is.
I've had every opportunity to get into this.
It's definitely good.
It's like, you know, it's a little.
It's funny because it's like a psycho thriller soap opera.
Like at moments you're like just like gazing at something that's kind of like weird and soapy.
And then all of a sudden it becomes fucking insane in horror for a quick second.
Not like horror constantly with blood.
There's definitely some blood in the third season.
Definitely some blood.
Definitely some gore and some craziness going on in season three.
But like I don't know.
it's artfully done in a way that I can somewhat swallow it.
But something I didn't know, so don't crucify me at the stake, was
the return was the inspiration for Oppenheimer.
Christopher Nolan was very heavily inspired by the return.
I'm sorry, but there is the whole entire bomb going off in Oppenheimer,
the way it's actually like framed and filmed and shown is just season three the return of Twin Peaks.
So if you liked Oppenheimer, you at least owe it to yourself to watch the return of Twin Peaks.
Like that's kind of how I would put it is that like, wow, you got to go see the actual of what was done with it.
Which of course, like Lynch was inspired by so many folks as well, but it's like clearly inspired.
Like I watched it, I was like, oh, huh, huh, that's just what Christopher Nolan did.
I'll have to check it out just because, I mean, like, I know, I know, Twin Peaks is on my list.
It's just one of those things that I feel like, again, requires one's full attention.
Yeah, it does.
I have very little of that.
It does require attention.
You do have very little of that.
That's it.
That's all I have to say.
I just have very little of that right now.
I'm sorry, y'all.
The reveals have been great.
I highly recommend it though.
There's been big reveals and I'm like, oh, wow.
And Lynch is very much so closing off all the loose trails in it
and does a really good job of that.
So highly recommend it, Rip to the legend, and just really do recommend it.
Yeah, I mean, like, I did enjoy Riverdale,
so I feel like Twin Peaks is something that I would really enjoy.
Well, you're in luck because there are characters in Riverdale that are in Twin Peaks.
Eliana.
I wanted to see what sort of reaction I get out of that.
I'm so tired.
I can't with you.
Yep.
As somebody who's enjoyed both things, let me just tell you.
I do recommend both, Riverdale and Twin Peaks,
but you have to watch it in the original order,
which is Riverdale, then Twin.
No, I'm just kidding.
It's Twin Peaks than Riverdale.
Duh.
Duh.
Duh.
Duh.
I actually got my roommate into watching Riverdale because it's the same thing.
So once in a while, we'll throw an ep on once in a while.
I want to hear his take.
So that's something I look forward to this summer.
I'll start him back up on it.
I've got him on a good, strict diet of Ginny and Georgia right now.
That's different.
Yeah, that's interesting.
That's different.
Yeah, it's not good, but I sure do love it.
Yeah.
It's not good.
We don't have to spend much time on.
this, but our last thing are two cozy watches that are also wildly different, not from each other,
but from what we've listed are the two anime, Freerun and Witch Hat Atelier, but I think there was
like a little couple week break during which had Itelier, so we'll be starting that back up
sometime and Free Rhin's got a like mid-season break. I don't know, people are doing mid-season breaks
now. I'm like, 2026 is so hard. That's it. Yeah, it is weird to see how. It is weird to see how
it's changed, right?
Like, you were mentioning Sailor Moon, for example.
Yeah.
That they're doing, like, movies.
Like having a bazillion episodes, and now you have movies, and yeah.
But you did tell me a little bit about Freerun.
Can you tell the class, for those listening a little about it?
I like her little elf ears, you know?
That's, I'm into that, the character's elf ears.
I think you would really like it.
It's like kind of, it's a very calming anime, but it's also an anime that is, like,
very explicitly, I think.
it that they don't use the terminology but it's about grief and i like cried the first four episodes um
it's interesting because it's also like it's its own story right but it's a story that technically
the premises it takes place after the big story or adventure so okay oh okay interesting
yeah it's a little clash of kingsy in a way yeah but it's also like got i don't know the whole vibe of it
It's also like very kind of low energy in comics.
There is some like action, but I highly recommend it.
Okay.
And then what's the other one?
Which had it tellier.
And I don't know like what direction like it'll go, but it's got a similar I think
kind of vibe as well in terms of like magic and cozy looking,
some beautiful visuals, absolutely beautiful visuals.
And it's about a little girl learning.
to be a witch, but it turns out there's a secret that she ends up having to become a witch
because she discovers that secret. And I feel like, I don't know, the twist is given away
in the first episode, but I won't give it away. It's fun. And there's a cute brush buddy. Well,
Google told me the twist. Oh, okay. So now I know the twist, but that is, wow, well, that's a reason.
Definitely a motivation to follow for the little witch. So now I'm curious. You should watch both
of these. We can watch the first
episode of Freerin or something like
when I see you and then we can cry.
Oh, I love to cry.
I know. That's why we do this podcast.
Oh, man.
I'll have to check it out
because it's my life and I can watch animated things if I want.
Yeah, exactly, exactly.
God damn it. You know what's actually also freeing
is not finishing something.
Like deciding I don't like this.
And you know what I did that with?
What?
House.
That's interesting.
It wasn't even good enough.
I just think I don't like medical dramas that much.
Is House a drama?
I guess it is a drama.
I don't know why in my head House is a comedy,
and I think I'm confusing it with Scrubs.
Yeah, Scrubs is a sitcom, for sure.
House is a little more of like a dramedy.
Okay, yeah.
More drama than D.
But there's a little subplot,
and I had really hope.
that Hugh Lorry would carry me through it.
Like I thought, like, I like Hugh Lory, so like that should carry me through this.
It doesn't.
In fact, like, I just don't think I can do it.
I, like, watched, like, three episodes, and it's so formulaic.
Because in my mind, I was like, okay, it's really formulaic, you know, the thing happens.
He thinks it's this illness.
He gives it, like, 10 illnesses.
And then he finds out, like, oh, no, I was wrong.
It's actually this illness.
And he saves the patient's life.
Sometimes very rarely he doesn't.
and then he learns a valuable lesson
and he's guilty and full of, you know, whatever, or more.
So there's a subplot, and there's his whole love life that, like, is barely functioning.
And it's like, I used to watch it when I was younger and I think I was okay with it.
But now as an adult, I, like, find it, like, you know, when things try to be cynical
and are very tryhard and very dry and, like, edgy, I find it that way.
Like, I find Dr. House kind of pathetic, not endearing enough in the,
like annoying old man that's crotchy, but has a heart of gold kind of thing.
Like, there's not enough stand or clagane in the world for me to watch this shit.
You know what I mean?
Like, it's just not doing it for me.
That's interesting.
So I quit.
We got to like episode three, I quit.
That's valid.
You should quit.
You should quit if you want to.
And quit more things.
Life is too short to watch a show that you're not viving with.
Don't quit life.
That's true.
Don't do it.
don't let it get the best of you.
But yeah, I don't know.
I think I've heard that about House
that it is like very formulaic
and maybe like that made sense
during the time, you know, but.
Yeah, yeah.
But now, no.
Like now I'm like,
it's the combo of the formulaicness and him.
Yeah.
That I'm just like, I don't know,
maybe the whole like edge lord cynicism thing
isn't it for me.
It's the 2000s.
It really is.
Well, you had that whole splew of shows
that were knocking him off, right?
Like, you're the mentalist.
You had, like,
all sorts of, like, medical kind of drama
or crime drama that had, like,
edge lord main male character
who's super sarcastic and evil,
but actually deep down,
he might actually be good.
So I think it definitely was a sign of the odds.
And some things have to stay there.
Some things we don't need to bring forward.
from the aughts. That's true.
Like that and like low-rise genes.
Yeah.
And amphetamines.
Yeah. I think low-rise genes might be waning again. I don't know. I can't tell.
Yeah. I think that like the early aughts is in in some aspects again, which is very interesting.
Well, like they're in, but I feel like they were in and I feel like their genes are not as low as what,
hours were.
Mm-mm-mm.
Like, you know, again, there's like a lot of things where it's like, you don't even know.
Not to be like a crotchy old woman, but I am.
And that's fine.
And yeah, they're not as low.
But also I think like they're starting to like come back up again.
But maybe that's in my head.
Maybe they're not.
Maybe I just don't care.
No, I'm.
I am at that age where I'm like, the trends,
sure, like there are some things, but like, no, I'll never go back to low rise.
I'm not, it's not happening for me.
I just don't know if it's comfortable.
It's not.
All I remember is like our butt cracks hanging out all the time.
In fact, that's why, like, having your thong show became popular because it was a way to censor your ass crack.
Oh my God.
I'm just thinking of DeGrasi again and Manny.
Yeah, of Manny.
Yeah.
You've got the look, one of the best episodes.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
That's a rewatch we need to get into, actually.
That's a lot of emotions.
I did rewatch season one and two in the pandemic, so.
That's the time to do it.
We might have even gotten to season three now that I say it.
I'd have to look it up, but did recommend back then.
Wasn't much to do.
Yeah.
I hope that we can watch some other things this year.
there's stuff we need to catch up on.
I won't go into it this minisode.
Maybe you'll hear about it another minisode,
but Euphoria
it's season three, you know,
it's happening right now.
Lots to discuss and Eliana is not watching it.
So I'm not going into it
because it's almost over last episode next week
and then we're all free.
That's crazy. Wow.
I mean, you can go into it.
It's just, I don't know.
It doesn't mean anything to me anymore,
the way that it used to.
I don't know.
It has been seven years since it started.
There's that.
And also like, I don't know.
I really, really did love some of like those episodes.
And I love the pandemic Rue episode.
That one.
Mm-hmm, mm-hmm.
Fuck me up.
With Ali and the diner.
Yeah.
That one was, yeah.
Well.
I mean, I like the aesthetic of the first season.
See, you never know.
It could be a euphoria episode.
It could be a euphoria episode.
It could be a euphoria episode on its way.
You never know.
Maybe I'm just like not a, I don't know.
Maybe what it is is like, I'm not, I'm not saying like this, you had to because like our lives are busy and difficult and she had a baby.
But I'm just like, it was fun when you and R.O.
would like do those live streams afterwards and like no one had to.
But I like, that was that was like fun and kind of like gave us all something to look forward to, too, too, you know.
Yeah.
I will say it's slim pickings, right?
You got to have a Sunday show right now.
you know, Mondays are really bad.
Like, Mondays are like a terrible day.
So Sundays, Sundays you got to have a little something to live for.
So right now that's euphoria for me.
I'll put a little glitter on.
Watch a little euphoria.
Doesn't get old.
I do recommend it.
And then, I mean, soon Sundays will be about hot D.
Yeah, we'll be chasing that D.
We're really excited to have a couple friends on for Unleash the D.
and if you are ready for Unleash the D, get ready for your first guest,
our good friend MJ, this great area will be coming on.
And I look forward to talking about everything, Hot D and prophecy with her.
Honestly, I couldn't pick.
That was like my first pick this season.
So couldn't pick a more fun person to like just yap with.
Just yap and yap about Damon and Ranira.
I, all of them.
And also the fact that like gray like us is among the people,
we are not ashamed to say, we love hot D.
Yum.
I love hot D.
Mutant and proud.
Mutant and proud.
That's a show people should rewatch.
X-Men Evolutions.
Oh, X-Men Evolution's so good.
I highly recommend.
And X-Men 97 remake is also good.
Watch that.
I know you've talked about it.
So, yeah.
Watch this space, but not this podcast, because it's a podcast and not filmed.
Though there are podcasts that are filmed, we're not one of them.
This is not one of them.
Unless you pretend, really hard.
We'll be back with Unleash the D and then our House of the Dragon episodes before you return to Tyrion.
Bye.
Bye.
