Starting point is 00:00:02 This week on the snack, Patient Zero, Madonna, and the best TV shows of the century. This is a Dear Media production. Enjoy. Hi, guys. Hi, guys. This is a spooky season. October 1st. The decorations are starting to come out.
Starting point is 00:00:24 No, you did go, ooh. The decorations are starting to come out in the West Village, and I'm excited. They do some crazy shit. The rich people in the West Village do some crazy shit on their store. Oops. I'm excited. Yeah. I love it. I mean, we've said this for years. People just need to find joy however they can. And if that means insanely extra Halloween decor, I. And for it, the spookiest thing I'll be doing this month is moving. That is scary. That is very scary. God help me. I am excited. I have shows all months, which I haven't really been performing. I have shows all months. And you sent me flowers. If you guys are watching on the YouTube above my, behind my right shoulder, actually sent me flowers. And I was like, what did I even do to deserve this? And your card was so fun. You managed to roast a bunch of people in the card and compliment me and tell me you love me.
Starting point is 00:01:11 I was like, oh my God, it's so fun. Yes, it was flowers for just you being such a great friend to me and delayed house warming and fuck these bitches. Yes, and fuck these bitches. Yeah, if you guys want to see me and then see me with Ashley. You can go to my tour page. Are you saying what shows you're coming to now? I don't know what you're doing, but we have a show.
Starting point is 00:01:33 We have a show. We're coming out of retirement. We are so excited. We're going to just do the New York Comedy Fest, which I don't think we've really done together ever. We've always probably been on our own tour, not that we haven't wanted to. So we're really excited to be involved in it. We are going to be doing a show on Sunday, November 7th.
Starting point is 00:01:52 I love a Sunday show at the Stand West, which, of course, you know the Stand. That is our comedy club that Rain and I both have performed, perform at. We love it so much. And this is their West location. be Chelsea Music Hall, which we've done a show at, and we just love this room. So we are really excited to do a show there. We will be doing stand-up. We'll be on stage together. Of course, we're going to have some friends. So people you've seen on the podcast, we're just kind of such a fun, fun night. This will be just such a fun comedy show. Come alone. Bring a date. Bring the
Starting point is 00:02:23 girlies. Bring your family. And we will see you there. Get tickets there. Going to go fast. And you can get those at nycomedyfestable.com. And we'll have it on our website, at girls got to eat.com as well. We're excited to see you guys there. Yeah, and we'll do a link in bio on Instagram. Girls Gotty Podcasts are Instagram. So no excuses to not be able to find it. But this is the first time we're announcing it.
Starting point is 00:02:43 So grab those tickets before they go. I just think they are going to go quick. And we can't wait to see you guys. I really am so excited. Yeah, I haven't been on stage you in a long time. I'm explaining. Okay, we have a report. But can I just tell you something like just like an aside thought that I had?
Starting point is 00:02:57 I don't think we've ever talked about this on this show. And I'm like, I think personally we've talked about it, but I'm curious your feelings. Because I was scrolling and I saw Tyler Cameron. Okay, let me back up. My greatest fear in the world is not like what other people, speaking on stage or aging or spiders. It is the Jennifer Hudson Spirit Tunnel. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:15 Have you seen the SNL sketch about this? No. I just, I opened my phone and Tyler Cameron was doing it. And I was, he did it with another guy. And I was like, that's the hack. You dance with another. If I had to do the Jennifer Hudson Tunnel by myself, Ashley, I wouldn't go on the show. I couldn't do it.
Starting point is 00:03:32 You could do it. You're a great dancer. It's my greatest dream. It's my greatest dream. It's your biggest fear. Wait, Rania, you got it. So Nikki Glazer, when she hosted S&L, they did a sketch about this. You just, you didn't see this?
Starting point is 00:03:43 So she said that's her biggest fear. So they did a sketch. And basically the sketch was like the meds to take if you're going to have to do it. And they just made you like violently ill. So you could throw up and cancel, basically. And she claimed it was like one of her favorite skits or sketches that she came up with. And then shortly after she did it, so there was this full circle moment and she did great and she looked beautiful. Yeah, she looked great. I remember her doing it. It's interesting because it feels so niche. Like,
Starting point is 00:04:12 that sketch was so niche, but clearly it's a relatable thing because it's a fear of yours. Like, I love that Nikki was like, I'm not the only person that could have this fear. Like this, no matter if you're famous or not, this could be someone's biggest fear. And it is my greatest dream. And I, all I do is watch these videos. And I am obsessed with what songs they pick. And I'm like, what song would they pick for me? I will sit and scroll these for hours. Like, I never want to miss one. Like, throw a celebrity at me.
Starting point is 00:04:38 I can tell you what they did down the spirit tunnel. Like, obviously Julia Stiles. Julia Stiles just crushed it recently because she did moves from Save Last Dance and 10 things I hate about you. Like, she bent over to the hair flip. Like, it just, I'm so obsessed with them. I feel like you would like drop it down to the floor. I feel like you'd have your butt in the air and like, oh, you'd be on all fours
Starting point is 00:04:57 with your butt in the air. Like, I would crawl down the spirit tunnel. You would. I mean, like, I would need to be so drunk. I don't have it in me. I just, it is my greatest fear in the world. I was watching some, like, red carpet interview with Paige DeSorbo, and she was saying that she had been asked recently to do that show.
Starting point is 00:05:14 And thank God she had something else to do that day. She was like, I don't think I could do it. Like, it is my greatest fear. Even if we did it together, like you, like, Tyler Cameron, like, tangoed down, down the tunnel with somebody else. And I was like, that's the move. With somebody else that could maybe stomach it. There was someone who, this actor that did it and his dick looked so big they had to turn off comments.
Starting point is 00:05:39 Who was it? No. No, God. I'm going to, I can't believe this. It was some actor. And it was just like, I can't even imagine what you're Googling to get to this. Whose dick was too big? Yes.
Starting point is 00:05:50 Yes. Yes. It was Aaron Pierre who played Mufasa in the Lion King. Dick is too big. You never think that's going to be your problem in the spirit tunnel. That your cock is too big for the tunnel. That's a funny metaphor. You can't fit.
Starting point is 00:06:09 That dick can't fit in here. It was just really prominent. And they had to turn the comments off on that. That was wild back. This isn't 2024. So I can look that up if you guys care. Well, I'm glad we discussed this. And then we can thank our partners and get into it.
Starting point is 00:06:30 Okay, wait. I have one more report. One more report. Before we get into our official report, I have a quick sports report. Eagles lost last night. Tough loss against the bears. It was rough. But we'll get back into it.
Starting point is 00:06:39 And I am going to a Dodgers game this Saturday. Really? I just don't like baseball. But I want to go for the vibes. We haven't been to a Dodgers game. Yeah. I haven't been to Dodgers. Shishonk really wants to go.
Starting point is 00:06:49 So it'll be the first playoff game. As this airs, we will probably know who they're playing. But right now we don't know. It's probably going to be the Phillies or the Braves. So it might be the Phil's. So we are going this Saturday. And that'll be like a fun little outing. Oh, that'll be fun.
Starting point is 00:07:02 stadium. It's far. Yeah. Well, I know. But we're going to, we'll go have an early dinner at Neko Park and just be up there. And Saturday is better than trying to get there on a weeknight. I can't even imagine. Oh, fuck now. Absolutely not. The Steelers are also two and one now. They lost a game. They're playing on Thursday night. I'm not going to be able to see it because I'll be in Connecticut, doing a show. You guys, if you're in Stanford, Connecticut, reneagreeberg.com for my tour tickets. There, I got it in there. I'll see you guys tonight. Okay. Let's take our partners. Then we'll get into it. Thank you to IM8. Get a free welcome kit, five free travel sachets and 10% off your order at IM8health.com slash gge and use code GGE.
Starting point is 00:07:40 And thank you to Lulu Lemon. Get new styles from the fall collection and free returns at Lululemon.com. Okay. So we are going to kick it off with a music report. Lots of music news, new music, the VMAs, all the things. Raina watched the VMA so you didn't have to. I did catch most of the highlights. I feel like I've watched enough to know that, well, to understand why the reviews for this year were not so great.
Starting point is 00:08:09 I mean, it was a mess. I couldn't believe what I was watching. I actually like, I mean, you and I, we watch a lot of award shows, but specifically we watch the music ones because they're like fun to watch. I like the fashion. Like the performances. First of all, I was trying to find it and I couldn't find it. And then I realized MTV was airing this on CBS, which made no fucking sense. It started 20 minutes late because there was a football game.
Starting point is 00:08:31 They couldn't cut from. And I'm trying to find it. And I finally think I've found it. And I see Madonna is performing and Snoop Dogg is hosting. And I swear to God, I texted like three people to check that like I didn't stumble upon like the VMA's greatest hits or something. Like why am I watching Madonna and Snoop Dogg? Like what year is this?
Starting point is 00:08:52 Okay. So they, I think they've always done this. But by the way, like I have a lot to say. First of all, MTV VMAs on CBS insane. What are we doing here? The VMAs themselves have been off and on for a while now. I mean, they were so iconic in our day. MTV hasn't played music in 20 years.
Starting point is 00:09:08 Like, if MTV is going to do an award show, which should be for reality shows or ridiculousness only, because that's all they play. Like, it just is not what it used to be. But I have always rooted for the VMAs. It's just so nostalgic. And they have always brought together older artists from our day with newer artists. Like they have always done that.
Starting point is 00:09:27 What L.O. Cool J used to host them. Like I do like that they do that. I like that we could have Madonna and Snoop and then Young Lean, who's the first time hearing of him. Like I like that whiplash and that chaos blending new and old. But yeah, you're like, what year is this? I don't mind it. I was like, this has started 20 minutes late. I'm confused.
Starting point is 00:09:49 Then Charlie X, CX came out. And I was like, okay, so clearly this is current, but we're starting 20 minutes late. Yes, there was a lot of throwbacks. There was Nirvana. There was a Dolly Parton tribute. There was a George Michael tribute, which I was like, what, why? I don't understand what's happening here. You guys don't have to DM me.
Starting point is 00:10:04 I could look it up on the internet if I cared. There just was a lot of nostalgia. I mean, every category is very women heavy, which I do love to see. But, I mean, most of the categories were like Taylor Swift and Sabrina Carpenter and Tate McCry and then Bidonna. And that was just like every single category. It felt disjointed from what I saw and what I read. I've read a ton of reviews about.
Starting point is 00:10:24 it. People don't have very nice things to say. People are just saying this is cooked and this is over and they've lost the plot. But Madonna was the talk of the night. I want to kick this off by saying Madonna is a legend. Full stop. She's 68. She's still making music. She's performing. I will always support a woman shattering societal norms of what they say women should be wearing. acting like doing. That's not who I'm going to want to emulate at nearly 70, but I respect it. And she is an icon and a legend and she can do whatever the fuck she wants. She doesn't give a fuck.
Starting point is 00:11:07 I know that's her vibe. I worry she's getting into a territory of like, okay, grandma, time for bed. You know, like she is not Mitch McConnell, but like, is she on her way? Like, I just don't want her to tarnish her own legacy. But Madonna's going to do her. And she kind of always has been a little quirky. out of pocket. What she was doing in the 80s was ahead of its time in terms of how women should act. And so she's always blazed that trail. So I will always respect it. But I do feel like you're kind of like,
Starting point is 00:11:37 lady, what are we doing here? I mean, I was deciding if I loved it or hated it. You have to love it. It's Madonna. But she just like swept all the categories. And every time she like staggered up on stage, she just busted out some like very random speech. And like, everybody that she was with is like, what is she doing? Sabrina Carpenter was stunned. She just sat there and laughed. It was like very cute. She couldn't even talk.
Starting point is 00:12:02 Madonna's telling this whole story. Like, I wanted to collaborate with Sabrina. And then she didn't respond to me for five days. And then I DM'd her. And then she did. Sabrina Carpenter is standing there like holding her up. Like, sure. And Madonna's like, let's go backstage and get drunk.
Starting point is 00:12:14 And then she like comes back out with Charlie XX. And she did talk about like what dance has meant to her and like how it's changed her life. It's just all these speeches really were like, let's her off and shut off. It's just, she was just like, I'm Madonna and I will stay here and speak as long as I want with my no pants on and my leotard and you're not going to stop me. It was hilarious. My personal beef with Madonna is that that's the longest I've ever waited for an artist at a concert. I saw her in Atlanta three hours, three hours so she came out.
Starting point is 00:12:43 Yeah. And I mean, maybe she had something going on her life or maybe she's just that much of a diva. But, you know, just let her cook. I mean, Sabrina is like, ma'am, I texted you back. Could you stop? Like, what are we doing here? But yeah, so she won Artist of the Year and Album of the Year. I didn't know.
Starting point is 00:12:58 I don't really. Okay. So I did a poll on my Instagram. I said, no shades for research purposes only. I asked, did you know Madonna put out a new album this year? As of this point, it's not fully expired yet. 5,000 people have responded. 500 said yes.
Starting point is 00:13:16 What? How did 500 people find out about this? So yes, 4,500 people said no. And can I just say, right? I did know she had new music because Cody Rigsby played a new Madonna song in a Peloton class. And I sort of clocked it. But I was like, Madonna put out a single. Like there's no way Madonna has a new album in the year of our Lord 2026.
Starting point is 00:13:44 I was watching that. Like, am I so behind the times? Like, how did I not know about this? But clearly, like, I want to know how those 500 people found out about it. because I am. Paliton, Cody. You and I spend a lot of time on, we're the most chronically online people
Starting point is 00:13:59 that I know is our job. And like, that includes music news. Yeah, like, Madonna is a gay icon. She's a queer ally. Like, maybe that is more of the community that keeps tabs on her. I am a fan of Madonna in the 80s, almost exclusively,
Starting point is 00:14:16 not even really the 90s. This is music subjective, whatever. I like her 80s stuff. Look up her discography. That's kind of, 89 is when she kind of lost me. But I just would have thought we would have heard a single from it. But the album is basically one long continuous house trance album.
Starting point is 00:14:35 This lady is 68 trance album. Like it is just like a DJ set. It's just meant to go dance and vibe. There's not like a single. I don't think that really would have even gotten quote unquote radio play, Spotify today's hottest hits. So that's really what's going on with her. But I just think people are like,
Starting point is 00:14:52 hey, no shade, she's a legend, but was this deserving of all these wins? Yeah, it was surprising to me. I mean, I guess give somebody else a moment in the spotlight besides Sabrina Carpenter and Charlie X, X, X, and Taylor Swift and Tate McCrack, I guess. But like, could it be somebody else besides Madonna that put out new music this year? And then there was controversy surrounding another award, which was best choreography, which Madonna also won for her Confessions, too. Also, Confessions, too.
Starting point is 00:15:21 This is Usher. Like what in the Usher? Like Confessions Part 2. Like Confessions 2. That's the album. And then there's a 13 minute short film video. That's what won best choreography over Generation and Young Lean for Storm 2, which they performed on stage. Pretty much mimicked the music video that went viral.
Starting point is 00:15:44 And this music video is basically set in this dystopian British boarding school in the year 2034. Young Lean plays an aggressive, intimidating bully orchestrating a student rebellion. And it's insane choreography of these guys, kind of all in this like bleacher type thing, directed by this renowned filmmaker. And they really did replicate it as best they could at the VMAs. And people went crazy for it. It's brilliant. It's captivating for sure.
Starting point is 00:16:12 I was a little twern about it. I mean, it is one of the coolest performances I've ever seen, like on television. It is like over a hundred men in the same. like blazers and just the the transitions between black and white clothing and the way they moved in unison. I mean, it is truly like a feat to behold. I felt like I wonder if in the sort of wake of the Cornell 7 and all that's happening, like, did people feel a little triggered by this? And I don't ever want to be the kind of person that's like there can't be anything that comes in front of my eyes. That doesn't, never, that bothers me. But I don't know what they would have
Starting point is 00:16:45 done besides this? I did have like an immediate pit in my stomach because it looked like a fraternity. And right as we're consuming all of this, which we'll talk about later in the episode, to see these like fraternity prep school guys, it was an immediate trigger. But that is not to say that they shouldn't have done it or it's insensitive. You know, we're not about that. Like I'm never going to go down that road. It's insensitive. No, like this was, this was brilliant. and it should have won the award. But in this climate, it felt triggering. And that's just sharing how I felt and what we're curious if anyone else had that feeling.
Starting point is 00:17:22 It's a sad thought to have that you look at that and you're like, that looks like the Kai Phi Pledge class that we're talking about. You know, like it felt kind of sick, but it's not like in this landscape, how could you? I'm not saying that. It was just like, we're curious if anyone else felt like that. And I told you, it reminded me of Eminem's 2000s VMA, Slim Shady, performance where all the guys dressed like him came out and that was this iconic thing probably again like a hundred dudes and i told you i was like crazy that a bunch of guys dressed in what we
Starting point is 00:17:52 used to call wife beaters and sweats look less likely to rape you than these guys in ties but well it's just it reminds me of the people that do get away with this stuff that's what those uniforms reminded me of and you know you and i i don't subscribe to like this was not tone deaf it wasn't like a no no no no kind of moment it was like a truly brilliant performance I just had a feeling about it. That's all just, it triggered an emotion for me. But other than that, it was really brilliant. Yes.
Starting point is 00:18:19 And just as brilliant, in my opinion, is the Patient Zero video. Love it. I love it. Oh my God. I love the song. I love the video. Are you kidding me? This video, like, I'm still thinking about it.
Starting point is 00:18:32 Like, I heard Patient Zero. I was like, I fucking love the song. It's been in my head ever since. And then I knew that there was this short film coming with Dakota Johnson and Colin Farrell. I thought the song was about a full. fuck boy. It's about a man who's killing his rich wives. Like, okay, let's
Starting point is 00:18:46 let's rewind. So she put out four new songs called the encore on Friday last week. And I want to talk about the songs and then I want to talk about the video. Oh, you want to do the songs first. Okay, fine. I wanted to do the songs first. I had a good transition there because they did premiere the video with the VMAs, but it's fine. You know, well, I want to talk about feelings about the music.
Starting point is 00:19:02 Okay. You know, it takes me like five or six listens to decide if I like something. People hated this. I mean, I think people just like to have a negative take on things. I think people like to have a hot take and that's typically a negative take on things people real swifties were like i hate this this is tired it's just like i wrote down some words that i saw the people used to describe it and then i'm gonna i'm gonna say something that might surprise all of you preoccupied with her critics repetitive
Starting point is 00:19:30 thin i make it flame for this i liked them i liked the songs i thought cleveland was kind of a bop and i the messaging i will get into but i enjoyed these songs i liked patient zero i like Babylon. What was the other song? Pink clouding? Pink clouding, I just don't, I really have any thoughts about it. It's not for me. But like, I actually enjoyed these songs. I was on a road trip. I liked listening to him in the car. I like the messaging of Patient Zero, which is, the music video is a bit of a departure, but like the messaging is just like, you know, I'm, I'm the first person that dated him. And if you dated him after me, like, I get you, girl. I see what he's like under this veil of everything. Cleveland, I mean, I have fun listening to it.
Starting point is 00:20:09 I think that she's, okay. I like the Taylor Swiftville. acknowledge that people make fun of her. I like that. I think we're like doing it a little too much. She's like, if people think I dress stupid and that, you know, I'm not hot enough for him or young enough for him, but like, that's my man. I don't think you need to keep defending this. I think it's like enough. And like it's sort of almost reminded me of like when influencers are like behind all the glitz and glam is a real person and it's not all beautiful all the time. And the first time you hear somebody say that, it's really refreshing. You're like, thank you for acknowledging that It's not like this, but I feel like I've heard her knowledge in her music over and over again.
Starting point is 00:20:46 Everybody hates me. Everybody thinks him cringe, but my man's obsessed with me. I just feel like it's like enough. You get it. We've heard it. That's kind of always been her thing, though, like reputation. Like she is kind of always paid a lot of attention to the haters. In terms of Cleveland, I wrote on threads, obsessed with Taylor Swift putting out a song
Starting point is 00:21:06 dedicated to the haters that she knew they would viscerally hate. Like, that song was designed for the haters to. hate at a high level. I love Patient Zero. Like I just said, I really like pink clouding. Babylon to me is fine. It's forgettable. I feel like I've heard it before. Cleveland feels like a joke. It feels like trolling. I don't actively hate it, but I am laughing at it. I've also seen commentary that without Cleveland, people would have been fine with this. The other three are fine songs. I mean, I think they're good songs. especially patient zero.
Starting point is 00:21:43 I think they sound like her, older her, newer her, like a blend of the two. Like Cleveland is what really triggered people. But it's like, I don't know, it's this silly little campy song. If you hate it, you can just skip it. But people like live to hate her. It's really bizarre. It's people that call themselves her fans. Like this is where I get defense of her because I hate nothing more than people that call
Starting point is 00:22:09 themselves fans. And they're like your biggest critics, like the weirdest. way and they hold her to such impossible standards. And I know that Taylor Swift has these albums where she's like this poetic songwriting genius, but she also has songs like, we are never, ever, ever getting back together and shake it off. Let's not forget about me. Raina, me with Brendan Urey, the lyrics said spelling is fun. You can't spell awesome without me. Like she has always done this shit. She has oscillated between this profound songwriter and a silly little pop girlie. Like her whole thing is eras and she's going in and out of them. And so it's so crazy when
Starting point is 00:22:48 people flame a silly little song. Like I get the critique that she's just paying too much attention to her haters. But I'm just like, I don't know. She has done this before. This is not such a departure from her silly little campy songs that she's put out before. I just, I liked it. I don't know. I don't think everything, like the messaging and patience here on Babylon are so heavy. And you really have to listen to the lyrics to like understand what it's about. And like, I listen to these songs over and over and over again on this car ride to just like understand what they were about. Cleveland, it's just, it's straightforward. Sometimes I don't want to think that hard, you know? Sometimes I just want like a bop that kind of sounds like a marching band. It's funny.
Starting point is 00:23:25 She's like, he took me to Cleveland. He showed me at the heights. I met his parents. He likes going down on my pussy. Like, I just thought it was funny. I know. I really am just like what, guys, please. Like, people are just obsessed. Like, think pieces. all this stuff. It's like, she's done this before. You can't spell awesome without me. You can't spell awesome without M.E. That's her.
Starting point is 00:23:47 That's old Taylor. We went old Taylor back. That is old Taylor. She has always been both. And so just I let her cook. And I just, again, love Patient Zero so much. And I started reviewing too soon. But I loved the video.
Starting point is 00:24:02 No, I just, I love the plot twist. I really loved it. I loved every scene. I loved all of the imagery. I think it was so insane. I didn't expect the end. Really, she was a ghost the whole time. Like, I've chills.
Starting point is 00:24:14 I'm obsessed with it. So she has been in 60 music video. She's directed 18. She writes every single frame, every single shot. It's pretty impressive. And I don't know that I've really seen a music video like this. It's a short film almost. Like, about, I mean, he's like slowly poisoning her.
Starting point is 00:24:31 Like, like, Munchausen. Like, and you find out that she's dead. And Dakota Johnson, they're wearing the same outfits the whole time. And I just, it was, it's really interesting. It's really different. I thought it was brilliant. I loved it. And she did win this award.
Starting point is 00:24:46 She won the inaugural artist director honors, which people are saying that that was made for her and her team pressured them to create that award. But they, they'd be doing that stuff. They always have done that stuff. They come up with these new awards. They give them to somebody. You're like, you just wanted to give that person an award this year. So whatever you think about it, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:25:04 I mean, did Taylor Swift pressure the VMAs to make an award for her. I don't know. If she did, that's weird. but no one else showed up for this thing who the fuck else showed up for this entire award show the most and no shade to her because I love her Lisa Renna was like the most famous person on the carpet besides Taylor Swift.
Starting point is 00:25:21 Shibuzi was there with Sierra great I love that I love to see you no one else showed up for this thing that's fair. Call it the Taylor Swift VMA Awards. Let her do whatever she wants. Well Madonna was there. That was interesting.
Starting point is 00:25:32 You know what I gotta say. Madonna is the VMAs though. Madonna what she posted, did she post that she was hit the state? for the first time 42 years ago. I thought she said 48, but whichever it was, 42, which makes sense. She performed at the first VMAs.
Starting point is 00:25:49 Oh, my gosh. Anyway, okay. Well, that's your VMA update and Taylor Swift update. And, you know, I just, I find it interesting. The people make their entire existence to hate on her. And I have my critiques of her, too. I wish she would speak out more about things happening in this country and around the world. we could do a lot worse with female role models.
Starting point is 00:26:11 And I still think she is a female artist that is a role model to your daughters and who is someone that can be looked up to and is not offensive. And I feel like the hate makes me want to defend her even more because it's insane. You people are insane. I was trying to find any other like, like, people like hated it. And I was just like, also like, you know, me and you just, it's just not that deep to me. I don't want to be like it's just not a deep. It's just music.
Starting point is 00:26:41 Music means a lot to a lot to people. Music artists mean a lot to me. Music means a lot to me. It's changed by life many times. But this is not that deep. I thought Cleveland was just like kind of a fun bop. People were so mad. But when she makes things too cerebral and too heavy, people don't like that either.
Starting point is 00:26:56 And they critique that too. Yeah. Like just, I don't know. Let her do her thing. I saw this one thread that says, why does Taylor Swift keep making songs about her life and her man instead of about me and what I want her to sing about? And that's the exact energy.
Starting point is 00:27:13 God, these people suck. Yeah, but Cleveland's stupid. Whatever. She knows it. She's trolling. It's called Cleveland. I saw a meme that said like the, but the community board of Cleveland's having an emergency meeting right now. Oh, I thought you were going to say it's a recession indicator that she's writing songs about Cleveland and Florida when it used to be like Paris and London and New York.
Starting point is 00:27:35 She's a revolutionary. Cleveland and Florida exclamation point. Let's just talk about our partners and then we will get back into it. I am telling you guys about Lulu Lemon. Always so excited to talk about Lulu Lemon. It is all I wear. I don't have any workout clothing that is not Lulu Lemon. It's most of my ath leisure as well. And we are just obsessed with it. The highest quality, the best for performance, but also so cute and cozy and comfortable, too. So we have all kinds of stuff from the new fall collection that we are just obsessed with. I love this license to train set, the racerback shine bra and the high-rise short. And I have the pants as well.
Starting point is 00:28:08 but I'm just really liking. It looks really shiny. It looks really sexy. I've just been loving wearing it to my workout classes. It's Lou Lum's innovative Everlux material, shiny, quick drying. The Lulmin dries instantaneously. Like, I always know if I'm running around in my Lulimmon align pants or this sports bra or whatever. If I get wet, get sweaty, it's just going to dry immediately. Love the short with that too. We are saying that we are really loving the smooth space or relaxed collared half zip and the high-rise wide-like pants set. This is our new favorite set to travel in. We are just loving it. It is really soft and smooth, four-way stretch, quick drying again, and just really nice to travel in and just run around to errands, whatever you guys are going to do.
Starting point is 00:28:45 But we're just obsessed with Lulemon, everything they do. These colors are really great. Some of these pieces in the fall collection have this vintage feel. Of course, the little things, they have the kangaroo pocket thumbholes, like the fabrics, again, all the things they just really think about to make you as comfortable and convenient as possible. So new styles from Lulmin's fall collection are here. Popular Colors Go Fast. So be on the lookout for those drops. And if something doesn't work for you, free returns always. That's lululemon.com. Lululemon.com.
Starting point is 00:29:11 Okay. And, you know, as I've moved back to a colder climate and I'm getting older, I am also just looking for ways to do something good for my body. But it's hard for me to incorporate a new habit into my routine. I have to do a lot of stuff. So in walks, IMA, which is a way to simplify your supplement routine. You can take it before you work out. It is just like, the packaging is also so beautiful. You can be excited to like keep it out on your counter. It just like make you feel good. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Okay. We are going to talk about the best TV shows. So the New York Times put out this list of the top 100 TV shows of the 21st century. And they worked with stars,
Starting point is 00:30:53 actors, showrunners. They worked with all these people to create this list. They really put a lot of time and effort into it. Yeah, 500 people. It wasn't just like, here's what we think. I listened to the episode in The Daily about this. I found it really fascinating. So they put a lot of time in into this. And just immediately when they put this list out of these 100 shows, people are like, where's the Sopranos? Like immediately, where's sex in the city? So I realized and I did also confirm that they had to start at 2000 or later. So shows that started in the 90s didn't make the cut. So primarily, because the Sopranos, Sex and the City, Seinfeld, friends didn't make the cut and people were all up in arms, but that was the criteria. So before we get into it,
Starting point is 00:31:33 I mean, we just wanted to say that. And I, listen to this podcast episode. I haven't fully finished yet. It's like an hour. And it's really interesting. They break down a lot of the comedies. And like early in the episode, they're talking about the joke density of 30 Rock and how it's almost hard to even keep up versus curb where it's this one long relatable bit drawn out for an entire episode. I just find these things really fascinating. I mean, I'm obsessed with TV. I think TV's better than ever. We're so lucky to live in this era of TV. And they really broke all this down. It was fun going through this list. I just, It was like a lot of nostalgia for me.
Starting point is 00:32:07 And also thinking about what the criteria is for the best show, like, is it the best show because it transcends time and it transcends generations? Or is it the thing that you go back to time and time again? Yeah. To me, the stuff that, like, I watch on repeat are not necessarily the greatest. Like, Gossip Girl is something that I'll put on my TV because I just like to watch it in the background. But I wouldn't say it's, I wouldn't put it in my top 20 greatest TV shows of all time. Reality shows. Like there are some things that launched a genre, which we created our top 10 and I'll talk about reality shows.
Starting point is 00:32:40 But there are things like Top Chef, for example, that were like ground zero for cooking competition shows. And I was curious like why more stuff like that wasn't included as well. And you listened to the episode, did they say? Or it just wasn't reality TV at all. And that was that. I don't think there was any reality on the list. And I didn't again finish the whole episode. I am curious too, because you're right.
Starting point is 00:33:03 what makes something impactful or things that start, like you said, a whole genre. I mean, they can't be ignored. So, I mean, they had their set of criteria. And again, like, most of your faves are on here. Most of the shows, the best shows of all time, like Breaking Bad and Mad Men and Game of Thrones and Veep and Hacks and the Bear and like all those shows are on the list. I mean, the main ones missing that I felt were from the 90s or started in the 90s. But I guess it was tough because they were still very much new in the 2000s, too.
Starting point is 00:33:39 So, you know, that was the only thing I felt was lacking. But you're so right. I mean, there's so many different benchmarks you can measure a good show on. For me, my top, or just how they make me feel, I don't know, like the ones I still remember, not necessarily that I would go back to and rewatch. Some of them are, of course. But just how much I love them, even if I can't fully explain. it or put it up against another show and explain why it's better. This is just my opinions.
Starting point is 00:34:07 I mean, some of these to me, they just like, they defined a genre. They defined a generation. Like, sex in the city, I refused to not have it on my list. I refuse to not. It defined women growing up. And it may be a little dated at this point, but like it broke every single barrier for women talking about sex and pleasure that existed at the time. So does it stand the test a time, I don't know. I mean, like, my, my favorite show of all time is the Sopranos, and I think that it transcends time. Like, and I always say, like, because there wasn't a lot of, like, I mean, the mafia isn't using cell phones and the internet and emails. So it feels current today, even though it is a 30-year-old show at this point. And I think it transcends time. I think that the way that they incorporated different characters into it was brilliant. I mean, they never had like a slump season to me. I mean, we'll do our. episodes. But to me, like, the Sopranos is the height of like acting, cinematography, direction, character developments, plot that, like, made sense that, like, was carried out in the fullest. I got to get into it. I got to start that one. I mean, sex and the city is my favorite show
Starting point is 00:35:15 by every measure that I could rewatch it over and over and over again, that it was so empowering for women, that it comes into play in what I've done with my life, that it changed my life, that it inspired me that it was so incredible it was so ahead of its time literally all the things it hits every single mark for me and so that's my number one and the rest are just kind of they're in no particular order i feel like i couldn't really rank them my top four or the top four but everything else no particular order okay give me your list okay top 10 favorite shows of all time Ashley Hustle time number one sex in the city and the rest are in no particular order so curve your enthusiasm the bear hacks, girls,
Starting point is 00:36:00 Queens Gambit, I will never forget. When that show ended, it was during quarantine. I was like, that's the most perfect show, limited series I've ever seen in my life. Normal people, of course.
Starting point is 00:36:11 Great. Homeland. I was staying until five in the morning watching Homeland. Like I started it late, so I was binging it. Insecure. Great call.
Starting point is 00:36:20 And the bold type. That's probably my like deepest cut that wasn't so mainstream. I loved it so, so much. I have a few honorable mentions. I just have to say them. I can't not. No, of course I did.
Starting point is 00:36:33 You're probably going to make fun of these, but. I mean, scandal. It just didn't make my top 10, but it's scandal is still up there for me. Sex Lives of College girls. I absolutely loved off campus. I knew you're not. And then I did just throw one reality and that's love is blind. And it is my favorite reality show of all time.
Starting point is 00:36:55 I watched every single season. it was so groundbreaking when it came out. And I really do still love it. And I didn't include any childhood shows that feels like a whole other conversation. But all these shows also molded who we are. I mean, everything from full house, stay with the bell, family matters. Are you afraid of the dark? Clarissa explains it all.
Starting point is 00:37:11 The only one that I felt like maybe transcended outside of the child category for me is my so-called life. And that felt really life-changing for me. Yes. But I was a kid still. Yeah, I guess I didn't really understand Jordan Catalano back. then the original fuck boy but i still think i could really watch that show and enjoy it and i was like 11 when it came out of i was a little kid but childhood shows it's like i can't even go down there's so so many that it's like hard to even touch like i kind of started with college for me which
Starting point is 00:37:45 was sex in the city yeah i mean stuff that i could digest as an adult okay i can't wait to hear yours um we only have three overlapping some of your your mentions um okay can i just can i just say you guys i haven't seen a lot of these shows I haven't, like, if you were like, why wasn't the show on your list, I may not have seen it. And this is, again, like, I would never push my list on anyone else. It's very specific to me. Like, I would never argue this list against someone else's. I haven't even seen The Sopranos.
Starting point is 00:38:13 But I don't like Game of Thrones and I didn't really enjoy Breaking Bad. Like, I started when I finish it. But Game of Thrones is probably the show that of that people are obsessed with it. I gave it a fair shot. And it's not for me. Oh, we should. Breaking Bad is the number one show on this entire list. We should have told you people that. Sorry, guys.
Starting point is 00:38:31 I started it. I watched two episodes. I just don't think. I mean, I would pick it back up. I didn't dislike it as much as Game of Thrones. I'll never watch that again. It's not for me. But okay. Okay, my top 10. My top four are the top four. They're my favorite shows of all time. And that is The Office, The Sopranos, Mad Men and Girls. Those are my top four favorite shows. The rest in no particular order. Kirby enthusiasm, Succession, Sex in the City. Real Housewives of New York. It launched, it launched a network.
Starting point is 00:39:00 It launched a category. I mean, the original season of the, like, original Real Housewives. I mean, that is Bravo. Schitt's Creek, which I think is some of the greatest characters ever written and heated rivalry. Oh, shit. Okay. That is also, I forgot about it. It should be on my list, too.
Starting point is 00:39:18 This is so hard. It's hard. And then I have a lot of honorable mentions because, like, they just were so brilliant. Broad City. Broad City and arrested development to me are some of the greatest comedic writing that has ever existed. White Lotus, what they are able to do
Starting point is 00:39:32 every season is so brilliant. Vanderpump rules, you know, is my favorite reality show of all time. Real Housewives of New York made the top 10 because they lost... Real Housewives, they walked so Vanderpump could run. White Lotus was tough for me. I do...
Starting point is 00:39:47 You know how much I love. I love White Lotus. And it feels like appointment television. But I just... I don't know. I'm not as obsessed. but I love the show, but it should be up there. And, yes, heat a rivalry, good call.
Starting point is 00:39:58 I have a couple more. Top Chef, which I also think, like, is really, like, grounds you over for TV food competition shows. And it was so ahead of its time. People thought it was, like, really cringe at the beginning. And now people would die to get on that show. I mean, it's made people's careers. Insecure is also on my list.
Starting point is 00:40:14 Love is Blind. And Euphoria, Season 1. Okay. It's horrible. I mean, I love Euphoria. I thought it was so phenomenal, but they ruined the show for me. But, I mean, the first two seasons were great. Listen, I put a lot of time in my list, but just know that I will lay awake tonight thinking of the shows I forgot.
Starting point is 00:40:27 So just know that. I don't need to be criticized in this. I'm going to hate myself enough for all of us. I will have so much regret, but I did my best with the information that I had the time. I will pop up at 4 o'clock in the morning and think of a show. I didn't have my list. So just know. It will haunt my dreams.
Starting point is 00:40:42 Like, I was so proud when I thought of heated rivalry. I was like, that's so original. She's killing it. But I had another thought yesterday and I don't remember what it was. And I will be upset about it later. And you guys, if you want in the comments, give us your top 10. I'm so curious what you guys think. And I just love, we want to know.
Starting point is 00:40:59 Give us your top 10. I mean, you and I could do 100, you know, like really if I was presented with a list of all TV shows of all time, like I could really come up with my 100 and I couldn't include all those MTV shows growing up. I mean, singled out. Singled out would be on there. Newlyweds. Jessica Nick.
Starting point is 00:41:14 I mean, I'm thinking about all the shows in the MTV Spring Break just as a show. Stuff is an adult. I just, you know, we had to, we had to draw. the line somewhere. Exactly. We had to draw the line. You're totally right. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:41:25 But like gossip girl, the OC, I mean, those were like defined my college experience. Like this, it was just really hard to come up with. But I think, you know, we did our best. Are you a Gilmore girl? I forget. No, no, no. I feel like this is a thing when you, like when you see Gigi, are you a gossip girl or Gilmore girls?
Starting point is 00:41:42 Yeah, we're gossip girls. And I like corny stuff, but it was never about it. Dawson's Creek. That was another childhood one. But I think that's a separate list. I think nostalgia. Yes. Yes.
Starting point is 00:41:53 Separal list. And if you guys are curious, these are the top 10 from the 100 best TV shows of the century from the New York Times, Breaking Bad, the Wire, Mad Men, Succession, Fleabag, Game of Thrones, Veep, 30 Rock, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and Atlanta. And a lot of comedy in that list, especially in the lower half of the top 10. And they discussed that on the episode of The Daily, too. So if you guys are interested in this, there's a whole podcast episode to listen to. I'm about to listen to the rest of it as I take my walk today.
Starting point is 00:42:20 That's on that. And we just have some more TV and movie news. Yeah, if you guys want me to look forward to, Verity officially comes out tomorrow night. I just can't wait. It's Colleen Hoover. It's a thriller. It's a real departure from the other type of genres she writes about. It's starring Dakota Johnson, who is, by the way, everywhere. She is everywhere. She is on the cover of Vogue. She's in perfect commercials. She is dating MGK. She's in Taylor's video. I mean, she is the moment. Anne Hathaway, who's in everything, obviously. And Josh Hartnett. Thank God. I've been missing. on the silver screen. So, I mean, we'll review it next week. This is the third Anne Hathaway movie I will have seen in the theater this year. And also with my husband, we've been to the movies probably five or six times total in our whole relationship. And three movies this year, we saw DevWords Predator 2 Odyssey.
Starting point is 00:43:13 And this is crazy. Like, I find that crazy. I think it's crazy in any year, even in the heyday of going to the movies. that you would see one actor-actress in three movies in a row. No, I know. And also, I'm devastated that you're seeing this with him and not me. I, like, can't believe it. It's not an option.
Starting point is 00:43:32 Yeah, I can't just, I can't, I mean, obviously, he wouldn't be included in this. Otherwise, I am devastated that we aren't going to this together. I know. I know. I don't even know who I want to go with. I feel like other people don't care about this as much as I do. I think, yeah, I think you'll find your community. I mean, people will just, it's, even if you haven't read the book, which by
Starting point is 00:43:50 way, this is my first Colleen Hoover book, which was so wild. This is just like her book that stands out. She self-publish it because it's so not her normal type of novel. But we brought a group of girls to see The Housemaid that hadn't read the book and they really enjoyed it. So I think I really can't wait. I think it's going to be incredible. We have Love is Blind, Boston, finally, October 14th.
Starting point is 00:44:12 And love is going to need to be blind with this cast. This is not the women. All women are beautiful. The men on this cast, right? Like, coming off of Love is Blind, UK, the hottest cast. Like, it's a real come down. I was like, are other people feeling like this? I'm scrolling.
Starting point is 00:44:29 I'm waiting to find anybody as hot as the UK men. No, the beekeeper. What are we doing? The accents, you guys, I cannot wait for the accents coming out of these people's bodies. So I, you know, it's not as common as you would think. It's hard to find. Like, I hope they find some Boston accents. It's not everybody running around the city.
Starting point is 00:44:48 The same with, like, a Staten Island, New York accent. you don't hear it that much in Manhattan. And so it's like most of Shoshang's friends don't have that accent. Their parents do. You just, it's not as common as you would think. And I hope they find some. I just,
Starting point is 00:45:01 I do. Everybody's going to want it. But it's like, I'm there a ton. That's, you don't hear it on the streets like you think you do. It's not the town when you're walking around Boston proper. And so I hope they find them.
Starting point is 00:45:12 I mean, you know, we joke about Boston being the short king capital of the country. Like, are these guys all going to be short kings from Southie? I just cannot wait to see it. Also, I hope it's people from Boston proper. Like, sometimes they do these shows and like Denver was not really people from Denver.
Starting point is 00:45:28 Denver was people all over Colorado. And I hope that this is Southie Boys. I'm looking for real Boston people. I know. I mean, it's Boston. So many people do live like kind of outside the state of suburbs. I mean, people from like Cambridge or Worcester or different towns like that. But I do hope it's like in the area.
Starting point is 00:45:46 Me too. And just a few things I watched. I watched Love Hypothesis. which is a cute rom-com on Amazon. It started kind of meh, and then we really ended up like it. I watched it with Shishonk. This is Lily Reinhart, Tom Bateman, who was so sexy. I did not know of him.
Starting point is 00:46:01 He is very hot. She's a grad student. He's this ruthless professor. They start a fake relationship, and I'm sure you can guess what happens next. But I found it really cute. Like, if you're looking for just a fun watch, like, I don't love every single rom-com. You know what I felt about that J-Lo one. I feel like this is totally fun, light watchable if you're looking for.
Starting point is 00:46:19 two hours to pass. I can't believe we've even talked about this yet. Lily Reinhard's wardrobe for the press tour for this movie is unbelievable. Good? Good? Incredible. She's been wearing dresses from other rom-coms throughout history. I mean, it is
Starting point is 00:46:37 such a thing. She's never looked better. It is absolutely incredible. You guys should look this up. I mean, it's just like, it's a romance movie outfit tribute, and she is wearing the gold dress from How to Lose a Guy in 10 days. She is wearing Miss Congeniality.
Starting point is 00:46:54 Oh, my God. I saw the Miss Congeniality one. Herbella J dress. She is wearing Uptown Girls, Brittany Murphy's dress from Uptown Girls. I mean, this is one of like the most incredible like press tour ideas I have ever seen. Every single dress is just like 10 out of 10. These are really nostalgic. Atonement, which I did not see suddenly 30.
Starting point is 00:47:14 Jennifer Garner's outfit. And then the final one is. my date with the president's daughter from 1998. She just has all these like really iconic looks. I mean, she has never looked better. This is a brilliant idea. I've been loving watching it. Yeah, and I recommend this movie.
Starting point is 00:47:31 I just like I feel like we are entering back into a good age of rom-coms. I've seen some ones that I've enjoyed. I hadn't talked about this in a snack, but I watched the people we meet on vacation. I like that too. It didn't blow my mind, but I enjoyed it. And so I'm liking this because I feel like we went through a real period where they were all really bad.
Starting point is 00:47:52 And I feel like we've turned a corner. So love hypothesis is good. Check it out. And I love that you brought that up about the press tour. I saw that miscongeniality thing and I didn't really totally clock what she was doing. And it's iconic. And last night we watched Best of the Best. So this is, Hassan Minaj was a writer on it.
Starting point is 00:48:08 And Matry, I'm going to butcher her name. I practice this last night. I'm still going to mess up. She was the main actress from Never Have I Ever. And this is a coming of age comedy movie about two. childhood best friends who join UCLA's competitive Bollywood Fusion dance team. So it's a dance movie, and there are these two best friends who go to UCLA. And I loved it. Her and Hassan have been doing this press tour that's been so hilarious. And they have this like big brother, little sister energy.
Starting point is 00:48:38 And it's been so funny. I've been like watching all the interviews. I just love them together. And I like this. I love the cultural representation. The acting is great. It's a totally fresh storyline. this Bollywood dance team, you know, like in terms of like something that we really haven't seen before. I love the music. Usama has a cameo. Of course, he shows up at the very end. And it's just really cute.
Starting point is 00:49:01 We really, really liked it. So I recommend that on Netflix. Best of the best. I don't know if I recommend this, but I, um, it has been pouring down rain here. I've left the house in like three days. So I have recently gotten back into Real Housewives of New York. I mean, this is like season 16. People every year since the original cast was canned are just like, what are we
Starting point is 00:49:19 doing here and they keep trying to add new people and I don't know I want to love it because it's like my city and it's just not really working I don't even know if like maybe a show like this just doesn't work in New York City anymore like it should be about like a community of people that know each other that like maybe some of their kids go to school together and they used to have these women in the Upper East Side and even like Beverly Hills makes more sense to me because like those women sort of run in the same circles these women are so disparate in their ages I mean there's some new people on the season that are pretty cool Haley Glassman who was the of John Gosselin.
Starting point is 00:49:51 Oh, right. Oh, my God. They have Erica Hammond, who's married to the founder of Built Rewards. Oh, I've met her. She's really nice. She also was, I think,
Starting point is 00:50:00 one of the co-founders of Rumble Boxing. I really like her on the show. She is, like, of the entire cast, she's the person I like the most. She makes sense on the show. They have this girl, Daisy, on the show, who is Martha Stewart's makeup artist, and Martha Stewart makes an appearance
Starting point is 00:50:13 on every episode for the first three episodes. It is hysterical. Like, how did they get Martha on here? My biggest criticism in the show is that they recast Carol Radzwell. I'm not age-shaming her at all, but Carol Radzwell is 63 or 64 years old, and half of this cast is in their, most of them are all in their 30s. She is just, she's in a different generation as these people have a different phase of life. And they casted her because love story was so big, the show, the show Love Story about Carolyn Beset. And she was very good friends with Carolyn Beset.
Starting point is 00:50:41 And she was married to JFK Jr's cousin. And she wrote a book about it. And every scene, she's just like kind of sour and doesn't want to talk about it. But that is why she was cast on the show was to talk about it. So it's weird that she takes this like tone. That's the only reason you're on the show. She gets really sour about it and doesn't want to talk about it. It's like, I get it.
Starting point is 00:51:03 I wouldn't want to talk about my friend dying in a horrific accent. But I wouldn't be cast on a reality show about it. So I don't know. I try to push through. I don't want to try to do something. Maybe the show doesn't work in New York City anymore. I don't know. Now these people have anything to do with each other really.
Starting point is 00:51:17 it's just like strangers kind of like drumming up drama with each other. So I'm trying, you guys. I will watch it tonight and just about four episodes might be all I can take. Well, maybe it doesn't deserve to be in your top 10. If you can't even watch it anymore. That was my original cast. One of my criteria. One of my criteria was like, did I finish this show in fall if it's not still on, which I don't think any of mine were? But like, can I, did I give it up along the way? Because then it couldn't make the cut. That's a good call. Because like walking dead, I was a big walking dead person and I didn't finish it.
Starting point is 00:51:53 Let me see what I have to swap it with. I would be comfy. I would be comfy swapping it with White Lotus. But it's hard for me to love White Lotus because it's different every season. So it's like who's to say if I will like it next year's. Can't be in your top 10. You got to love it, love it all or nothing, you know, to be on the list. Euphoria was one of my favorite shows and now it's my least favorite show.
Starting point is 00:52:15 It couldn't make the top one. Before I shouldn't major list either. We're going to redo the list. You know, you'll stay up tonight. You'll work on it. We'll touch base next week, you guys. Okay. Let's move on on a more serious note.
Starting point is 00:52:26 So for headlines today, there's not too much going on that we feel like we need to cover. And the biggest headline right now is what's been happening with these Cornell rapists. And we just want to discuss that as our headline portion for today. Yeah. I mean, this is on my mind a lot. This is about an assault that happened in 2024 and the punishments that were and were not given out to these seven men and the 57 men that were on this group chat advertising that there was a woman available for sex in this Brat House. If you guys aren't familiar, she was assaulted for many hours by seven men. Two of the guys were expelled, correct me if I'm wrong.
Starting point is 00:53:02 The other five allegedly were subject to just sort of like administrative punishments of writing essays. All of these men's lives have sort of moved on. And, you know, it has sparked this greater discussion of, you know, this, this happens everywhere. This happens in corporations and jobs and schools all the way to the highest level of government in the White House. And this notion of, you know, we don't want to ruin these men's lives. And, you know, they're just kids and women have to bear the brunt of it. And it's sickening. And any woman, anyone who's ever been in a school environment, a job environment has been subject to harassment on even a small scale can feel.
Starting point is 00:53:42 how terrible this is, that we continuously look out for men and not ruining their lives, but the same kindness is not given to women. The burden of proof is given to women, and we ruin their lives constantly time and time again with out of thought. So it's obviously on our minds a lot and very upsetting. Yeah, it has been on my mind nonstop. I feel like I don't have the words to adequately speak about it, express the rage I feel about it. And just the devastation that this is the country we live in and that we've always lived in. And like Raina said, this is not an isolated incident. This happened two fucking years ago.
Starting point is 00:54:19 And it is an extreme case, but versions of this happen all over the country at college campuses and elsewhere constantly. There's not a woman alive who doesn't know multiple women who have been assaulted by men, if not herself. And so I first of all, I just want to commend the bravery of Jane Doe, which obviously they're calling her. she just needs to be applauded and protected at all costs. I don't ever want to hear why don't women report ever again in my fucking life
Starting point is 00:54:47 because shit doesn't happen. I mean, whatever you want to do is up to you, but it's become so clear why women don't because there are no consequences a lot of the time. And I hope that this time will be different in what New York State has reopened this case, basically, which is great to see because of public pressure, which is not how this should work. We shouldn't have to do this. We shouldn't have to have vigilante justice.
Starting point is 00:55:10 with this, but here we are. And ruin these men's lives forever. Ruin every single one of them. All seven of them, everyone who was complicitant in this, put their names, their faces everywhere, get them fired for their jobs, get them never hired again, hold their families accountable,
Starting point is 00:55:23 ruin their lives. You rape someone, your life should be ruined forever. And the thing I can't stop thinking about is, this is Gen Z men. Like, this is supposed to be the consent generation. I was talking about this with my best friend, Corey, who was a high school teacher. And they are supposed to have been raised,
Starting point is 00:55:40 with a healthy fear after the Me Too movement. Whether they respect women or not, they don't. Whether they view them as equals, they don't. They should still be scared to rape someone. And I can't believe these men weren't more scared. Like, I can't believe one person wasn't like, hey, as much as I love free pussy and as much as I love to rape an unconscious woman, maybe we might get kicked out of school or not get jobs. Like, I can't believe there's not more fear.
Starting point is 00:56:08 and the reason is because of who's president. Like, we have a convicted rapist, someone who's been accused of rape, sexual assault, pedophilia, dozens of times. The person who said, I don't even wait. When you're a star, they let you do it. You can do anything. Grab them by the pussy.
Starting point is 00:56:25 Before he was elected the first time, I will never forgive anyone who voted for that. You knew and you voted for it anyway, and you're complicit in this rape culture. And the fact that the president is a convicted rapist because he told you who he was, you didn't care. And we haven't done anything about the Epstein files. Brett Kavanaugh is a Supreme Court justice. Defense Secretary Pete Higseth is an accused rapist. Donald Trump nominated a
Starting point is 00:56:47 sex trafficker, Matt Gates, to be attorney general. Like, this is who we are now. This is what America is and these boys have paid attention. When these Cornell rapists were 11, 12, and they saw an accused rapist, they saw Donald Trump say, you can grab them by the pussy, you can do whatever you want to women. And then he became president. And so for the next 10 years, they have been conditioned to think whatever you do, if you have the money, you have the resources, and you are white or you have the right proximity to whiteness and power,
Starting point is 00:57:16 you will not be punished for your wrongdoings. You can do whatever you want, and you can do especially whatever you want to women. And that is why they think they can get away with it. Of course it is. And I'm so angry because this is the most recognizable machine, and I don't think it should be around anymore. This machine says, like, protect his future,
Starting point is 00:57:34 question her account, destroy her life, put the burden of truth on her. manage the institution's image, whether that is politics, whether that's a school, whether that's a corporation, and only call it accountability once everybody is watching. And even when everybody's watching, there's no consequences. It is so maddening. It is so sickening for me, for every woman that I've ever watched have to go through this and whose lives were ruined. I just, I feel sick about it. And yes, ruin these men's lives, get them fired. Let's make an example out of every single one of them. Yes. And, you know, this did exist before Trump became president. Like, obviously, Brock Turner was during Obama. Like, it's just gotten so much worse and so much more reinforced. I just don't think that we would see this happen. This insane thing we've seen happen. Seven men have gang raped a woman and gotten away with it and their college covered it up with a different administration. And I could be wrong, but it's just like it's gotten so horrific. And things are just so much worse than they should.
Starting point is 00:58:35 be in a post me too world with this consent generation. And so there's so much more we could say. I could say so much about men and raising good men and all these things. I mean, maybe we'll continue to talk about it. But, you know, we're just getting started. And, you know, I've seen a lot of different things about this that I just want to stay focused. I've seen language policing. I've seen, don't call them the Cornell 7, call it, you know, use active voice instead of pastive voice. Don't use the grape emoji. Say rape with your full chest. And it's like people, there's various reasons why people may censor themselves depending on the app they're on there why they have why they use the language they do like I just don't want us to lose the plot in this if we are all in the same team
Starting point is 00:59:14 and we really know of course this woman did nothing wrong we want these men to burn in hell like can we stop with this I feel crazy if they like it's like tension seeking and it like takes attention away from the point like I know language is important but like I just I feel like I'm starting it's the language place and is really starting piss me off because like that's not the point and like same team same This is I see with the left, the infighting. Same team. Stay the course. Ruin these men's lives.
Starting point is 00:59:42 And this Cornell 7 is at the website. The Cornell 7.org was started by Toby Morton, who word clown is his handle. He was a former writer in South Park. And he is putting all their names and everything up on this website. You guys can check that out. But I mean, everybody has been talking about this. And we will. continue to follow this case. But that's, we love, we love to see it. Like the names, the faces,
Starting point is 01:00:12 everybody, destroy everybody. Amen. I hate to end the episode like this, but, you know, this is what's on our feed constantly. And this is a show with a primarily female audience. And I'm sure you're angry and sickened watching this. And we are too. And we just want to lend our voices to this as well. Yeah. And again, the same with the TV list. There's stuff we didn't say. There's stuff we missed. We don't need to be policed about our same team here. We'll get to it. another time. This is going to be a story that we're going to follow really closely. So comparing this to the TV list is so funny. I'm just, my point is sorry if we missed a point you want us to make. We're doing our best.
Starting point is 01:00:46 And that's your snack. Girls Gotta Eat.com. Girls got to eat podcast on Instagram and TikTok. I'm Ash Hess and Instagram and TikTok, Rina, Greenberg for her tour tickets.
