Starting point is 00:00:01 This week on the snack, Taylor Swift's text exposed, skyscraper live, and a penis enlarging scandal hits the Olympics. This is a Dear Media production. Enjoy. Brena is Boots on the Ground reporting live from the Snowstorm of 2026, highly anticipated. Everyone's favorite snowstorm. The snowstorm, what is it called? It was like, I think it's, I think it's, no, they named it. Oh, yes. It doesn't, this. I, I don't. I don't know the name yet. Does this have a name? It's been having a name. I think it was Fern. It says winter storm Fern by the Weather Channel. That's what they named it. This is the first time
Starting point is 00:00:47 hearing about Fern. I actually didn't know we named snowstorms. I thought that it was only reserved for rainstorms and hurricanes. Hurricanes, yeah. I mean, hurricanes. I thought, is there anything less intimidating than Fern? The name's never really, I feel like, do the storms justice. But I remember the first time they coined bomb cyclone. Remember that one? They usually do something like that when it comes to winter storms. They just make it sound so apocalyptic. I remember bomb cyclone and just I remember taking videos of the snow and like setting it to like, she moves her body like a cyclone. Like that was one of my favorite term like snowpocalypse, stuff like that. I prefer those. We don't need these names unless it's raining or actually. Yeah, it doesn't make me feel that badass to be honest. It's
Starting point is 00:01:33 been a doozy. People's people's favorite topic. Ashley, we'll put it up on the screen. Every store is sold out. You should see Trader Joe's. It looks like COVID all over again. I mean, there's not one thing on a single shelf. Except for Desani water. There's probably a lot of Desailles. People have sent me photos. There's memes, but people send me photos from stores that has just Desani in the whole store. That's all that's there. Everyone has taken all the other water and it's just like pallets of Desani. That's the free waters on airlines too. That's like the number one free water.
Starting point is 00:02:06 They give away. They're like, nobody wanted this. We got it from the Trader Joe's after it got cleared out. Okay, but you are safe. I'm great. I haven't left the house in two days, but that's just because that's my vibe. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:16 You love snowstorms. I know. I'm always trying to throw it back. You know, I had no shows to watch. I was out of shows. So I have started Euphoria. Officially. I have five episodes in.
Starting point is 00:02:26 I love it. Big fan. By the way, Rain, I want to jump in and say that Stephen from Tell Me Lies, Like I've seen him in interviews now. He looks like a completely different person. He is an attractive guy. It is crazy how much they ugly him for that show.
Starting point is 00:02:39 He looks so heinous on that show. And I feel like I can say this with my full chest because I'm not dragging someone's looks. I find him repulsive on the show. He makes my skin crawl. And I watched him on Drew Barrymore. And he's like a totally good looking guy. And I've sent it to you. And I was like, I bet you prefer it the Stephen version, don't you?
Starting point is 00:02:55 And you said yes. I'm like, Ray and I will never fight over a guy. I mean, I'm married now. But like, we literally are taste. could not be more different. I actually don't care. Listen, I don't care for the haircut. It's too shaggy and like brush forward.
Starting point is 00:03:09 You like that penis cut. You like the, he looks, he literally looks like a thumb with a little hit of hair on the top. Like they ugly him up for that show so much. I can't believe you. Right. I just, I can't believe you and I like, we don't see, we don't see the world the same way. I mean, so him and Grace Van Patten did this Calvin Klein ad together this week. and it is so sexy.
Starting point is 00:03:33 Like the two of them together is so gorgeous. And even still, I was like, I miss the old hair. I miss the hair. Hate it. Okay, so a lot of stuff has been canceled, like, throughout the city. But I feel like the thing I'm the saddest about is you were supposed to go to the heated rivalry lookalike contest in Washington Square Park on the Sunday that Snowstorm Fern hit. But that's so sad.
Starting point is 00:03:55 You were going to be reporting on it. Like, I'm really upset about that. Well, you and I have been, like, talking about look-like contests for years. at this point, and I feel like they're never in L.A. They're always in Tompkins Square or Washington Square Park in New York City, once in a while in Chicago, but I was so excited. Yeah. People send them to me, and I also, I missed the Dave Batista slash the Rock lookalike contest. So I missed the heated rivalry one. People did come out and like snowboard and ski and stuff in Central Park, but no lookalike contest. So we'll have to catch him next time.
Starting point is 00:04:26 Okay. Well, it is 71 and sunny here in L.A. but it like was a little cloudy yesterday. So we had to wear like a light jacket when we were in Laguna Beach, but you know, we did survive it. Are you okay? Barely. On that note, that was my first time in Laguna Beach. We went this past weekend. And as such a diehard Laguna Beach fan of the show, I mean, I felt starstruck.
Starting point is 00:04:50 I went to Laguna Beach surfing sport where Stephen used to work. It's still there. I passed by the high school. I went to the coffee shop they used to go to. It has a different name now. Plus we did all this really cute, fun stuff. It's probably one of my favorite places I've ever been in America. We had the best time.
Starting point is 00:05:04 But just as like a fan of the franchise, it was so cool to be there because of that. I couldn't believe I'd been there sooner. So that's my report. Did you hear the song? Do you hear the Hillary Duff song in your head the whole time as you walked around? Well, just wait. I'll be doing a whole carousel. Just wait for it.
Starting point is 00:05:20 Oh, I said to that. Okay, great. You know what I love an Ashley Carousel? Because it's not, people want to think unwritten, but unwritten is the hills. It's come. I don't want to think that. Oh, okay. I think some people just automatically think,
Starting point is 00:05:34 the rest is still unwritten, and it's a different song. Do people? Do people? I don't know it like we do. Okay. Well, that's never crossed my mind. I walk around with that song in my head the whole time,
Starting point is 00:05:44 and we weren't really going to cover this day, but Hillary Duff is on tour for the first time in 18 years. So if you guys want to go see her, she is on tour. I want to come back. Good for her. Yeah. Yeah. It's never over.
Starting point is 00:05:54 You know, you can take 18 years off and make it come back. Yeah, and come clean. Okay, well, let's just thank our partner for today, and we will get into it. Thanks to Quince, get free shipping, and 365-day returns on your next order at quince.com slash GGE. And this is the last time I'm going to bring it up, I promise, because honestly, I have hit the quota for how many times I can talk about this. But my tour starts tonight.
Starting point is 00:06:21 I am very excited. I'm going to say. I can't wait. Ashley will be with me. And I'm just going to be adding a couple more shows. So on sale now is Nashville, Charlotte, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, and Atlanta. You can get those at Greenberg.com. Exciting.
Starting point is 00:06:37 Okay, yes, I can't even believe it. Like the snack and the tour starts tonight. Tonight. So that's it. I'm going to stop talking about it. I can't wait to see you guys. You're fine. I can't wait.
Starting point is 00:06:45 Honestly, Ashley's never seen me do comedy. I can't stop laughing at it. I mean, I saw you do comedy on my door. But I am really excited to see all you guys this weekend. And, you know, I wrote a few jokes too. I got a few of jokes. I'm going to test it out when I host these shows. But I'm glad you added those cities, too.
Starting point is 00:07:06 That'll be really fun. Yeah, it'll be great. So, Radiogreenberg.com, and then you guys can stop hearing me talk about it. If you just sell off the shows, then I'll leave you alone. Okay. I'll stop for asking you. Okay, so we're going to kick this off with a climbing report. You know we're not climbing enthusiasts, but a lot of climbing in the news.
Starting point is 00:07:21 So Alex Honnold, who is the climber from the documentary Free Solo, who is probably the most famous free solo climber in the world in that he doesn't use any equipment. He just goes raw dog. And there's a documentary called Free Solo, which I love. There is another documentary called The Dawn Wall. I'm obsessed with this in general. I don't care about climbing otherwise, but this I just find it so fascinating and hard to comprehend. So I'm super into this. And he climbed one of the highest skyscrapers in the world in Taipei, Taiwan. The building is called Taipei 101, 1667 feet, 508 meter summit. The building looked crazy. It had all these different structures on it that he had to navigate. There was like this point at the top. It was a crazy fucking building. It wasn't just like
Starting point is 00:08:11 your standard skyscraper, by the way. And he climbed this in like 90 minutes and it was streamed live on Netflix. It was a Netflix event. And okay, so I had two thoughts while I was watching this. First of all, so, okay, he's not on like you said. There's no equipment. He's like not on belay, any type of rope. So if he falls, he dies. So we're live streaming somebody potentially dies. So I had two thoughts. First was, I cannot believe I'm watching like this. Like, this is the most stress I've felt watching any sporting event in my life because like somebody could actually die. And second thought, I thought was that doesn't look that hard. What? I was like, if this was tall enough for it, if this was the appropriate height for me,
Starting point is 00:08:49 I could do this. Raina, you couldn't climb one first. You couldn't get up that very first ledge. Don't even fool yourself. I thought it looks crazy. It's hard for me to watch. So I was watching at Wishachank. His palms were wet. They were sweaty. If you look in the comments on Netflix, like, Harry Jousy was in those.
Starting point is 00:09:10 Everybody was like, my palms are sweaty. I'm sweating. Like I don't feel my stomach turns, literally. When I see the images of him on this building and I feel like sick, I feel like anxiety, feel like I'm going to throw up. I don't really consider myself to have a fear of. but it is crazy to watch. It was windy.
Starting point is 00:09:28 He's just up there. Listen to his heavy metal. I have a question. I actually didn't really think about this. Because, like, yes, obviously you're stressed out so your hands are sweaty. How does that got, do you think he takes pills,
Starting point is 00:09:39 like anti-sweat pills? No, well, did your hands have to be like a certain climate temperature? Well, did you watch it? He has this thing is the only thing he has on him is his pouch with all of his chalk. Oh, it's chalk. He chalks up the whole time.
Starting point is 00:09:51 Sorry, actually, I'm not a climate expert like you are. He has one thing. on his person and hits his pouch with his chalk, he chocks the whole way up. You can't miss it. You don't watch this. You did not watch this shit. Now I know you didn't watch it. Yes, I did. Do not try to appropriate my culture. Maybe when men stuff, I only have pay attention. No, the main thing is, is that. And so he was getting hot. And that's the first thing his wife said to him when he met her at the, almost at the summit. They couldn't be on the top together. He had to use a ladder to get to the barit talk. Whatever. It's, if you guys watch, you know, but he met her up there. And
Starting point is 00:10:25 like, were you hot? I was thinking because then the building gets hot. Okay. So I just have so much to say. Like, he's so incredible. He's such an inspiration. I just can't. It's so outside of my realm of anything I would ever do in my life. So I just love to see it. And it's an insane thing to televise live. Truly something where you could just die. Like he's good enough that they would never send someone up there that that couldn't do it. Right. Like he knew he was going to be able to do it. But still, one slip, one thing goes wrong and you fall to your death. So many of these guys have fall into their death. So to televise that for, do you know how much he got paid? This is my rabbit hole of the day. He, I'm like, what? Raina, he got paid under a million dollars, mid six figures
Starting point is 00:11:07 they're saying. So like, people are saying five. Who pays him? Netflix. I'm saying what he got paid for Netflix? For net. People are saying 500,000. People are saying 300,000. He won't say, he's like embarrassed to say. To televise this event, a live event on Netflix is such a, a huge deal to pay him. I mean, again, this is like whoever's negotiating on his behalf, but this should have been millions upon millions of dollars. So I just want to read the quote from him. People are asking how much you got paid. He said, I'm not going to say it's an embarrassing amount. He told the New York Times. Actually, if you put it in the context of mainstream sports, it's an embarrassingly small amount. You know, major league baseball players get like a $170 million
Starting point is 00:11:48 contracts. He says, like someone you haven't even heard of or that no one cares about, like literally no name athletes. And again, he's not doing a whole season. And he did this for 90 minutes, but he had to train. How much did he to train for this? And for, yeah, I just feel like he should have been paid more. Absolutely. Okay, so I'm watching it, and I am really disliking the commentators. So there was three, there was Elle Duncan, who's like a lifelong sports anchor.
Starting point is 00:12:11 She was fine. And then there was a professional rock climber named Emily Harrington. And then the third commentator on the ground, fucking in his ear, commenting this whole event was this W. W. W.E. wrestler who was the worst rain. Like, it felt like it. to have a W.W.E. wrestler even do this. Like, I know as a sport, if people want to call it a sport, I know it takes strength, endurance, all the things. It's not a real sport to me. It's entertainment.
Starting point is 00:12:36 That's in the name. Like, you didn't need a third person at all. But to have someone he had the coldest takes. He had like a weird vibe I didn't like. It was hard for me to almost watch. And I just felt like it was such an insult to have this WWE wrestler be the person that gets to commentate and be in Alex's ear this whole time. Okay. It's not the same vibe. It's a total vibe shift to have like this wrestler commentating. That's me climbing a building. It's like when they brought the UFC out at the Golden Globes. Literally that's how it felt.
Starting point is 00:13:03 What are we doing? The wrong energy. Why are we trying to make this happen? Like, why are we trying to make this happen at all? I can't understand how he got that gig. But anyway, so I start looking up what do people think about the commentators and people fucking hated them. And because it was live, people are bombing Netflix's comments in real time.
Starting point is 00:13:21 Take them, take their mics away. Get these commentators off the air. we just want to hear him talk. I do think there should have been commentators, because if not, it would have been pretty silent at a lot of points. But I had the most problem with this WWE wrestler who truly contributed nothing. And I don't know how he got that gig. There's also an art to talking while people are also trying to do other stuff and listen
Starting point is 00:13:42 other stuff. So like you think about it all the time when you take like a workout class and you're like, I am trying to listen to the music, but I want somebody to motivate me so I can enjoy this. So like there is certain instructors I won't take because they just talk too much. I mean, there is, there's a real art to this. And if you don't know how to do it, then it is just distracting. But like, you want to hear the professional rock climber talk about what we're watching, offer insights. But I just, anyway, I'm so, I'm so happy. I love him and his wife. You know, they're so cute. And this was just such an inspirational feat. And I, you know, that's really like all I have to say about that part of it is like he's just, he's incredible. Wait, so I have to ask you a question. So I read that also that this was in his.
Starting point is 00:14:23 ear as well as he was climbing. Was the commentators? Is this true? Yeah, they can talk back and forth to him, but I don't know if he could turn them on and off because he also put his music on. He likes to listen to Tool. He likes a little like heavier rock. And then he lost music and he lost calm at one point. But yes, they are talking to him. And there's a couple of points where he's talking and they cut him off. I think it's hard to communicate, by the way. Like let's talk about he's on the top of this building. They're on the ground and, you know, wires are getting crossed. But yeah, like that's what I'm saying. Like, I was telling, and Shishonk, I was like, I, if I were Alex, I would have been like, I need to approve the commentators who were going to be in my fucking ear while I do this. Like, I'm wondering if he got to say, because I don't think he chose Seth Rollins from the WWE.
Starting point is 00:15:05 No, I would pick my two meanest friends and I would have them talk shit back and forth. And then, like, sometimes some music. But like, I just want to laugh at my funny friends talk shit on stuff. Like, that's what would keep me going. Like, that's what energizes me in the morning. Well, I know, like, if I get to pick, I'm like, Beyonce. Like, can we have her just talk to me? I don't know if I'm going to have her music of my ears.
Starting point is 00:15:27 All right. Well, moving on to another climber of our time, Sydney Sweeney. So, Cindy Sweeney climbed the Hollywood sign in the middle of the night to promote her new bra company. I mean, these videos are so embarrassing. So let me give you a little background. Sydney Sweeney has a new, I guess, lingerie line. It is being financed by Jeff Bezos, allegedly. And she had no permission granted to do.
Starting point is 00:15:51 do this, but then, which is the Hollywood chamber of Congress said, but she in the middle of the night climbed the Hollywood sign with a couple of people and these large garland strings of bras to just, like, string them along the Hollywood sign. I don't really understand. It's also, it looks so sloppy, like they have her doing it. And I kept thinking, like, if this was somebody else that I, like, really rooted for, would I be like, yes, bitch, go off. But, like, if you guys watch the video, it's actually really embarrassing to think that, like, she had Jeff Bezos type money. And she She is climbing the Hollywood sign in the middle of the night with no permit trying to throw her bras over it. I mean, this could have been a funny thing, I guess, but it's so sloppily done.
Starting point is 00:16:34 It looks so weird. There's a million ways to have done this and made it look cool. She chose none of them. It's such weirdo energy. Like, I know it's not graffiti, but it still feels like vandalizing a landmark, you know, without permission. Like, it's giving, like, she litters. you know what I mean? Like her energy is like someone who thinks it's funny to fuck shit up
Starting point is 00:16:55 and have other people deal with the consequences. Like does someone have to go get the bras now? Like does like a park ranger or someone have to go clean up this mess? I don't know. I could be wrong. But like it's just like weird energy. You know what I'm saying? It's like someone that's like throw something on the ground and it's like,
Starting point is 00:17:10 that's funny. That's not my problem. That's her whole energy I think is just like doesn't give a fuck in like a bad way. And I am obviously not a fan. and I'm all for like a stunt, but it's just like, is it, are she trying to be a badass breaking the law?
Starting point is 00:17:28 Is that the vibe? But like, what are we doing here? Like, I just, I'm not a fan of anything, like the Jeff Bezos's backing of it all. I'm just like,
Starting point is 00:17:36 while we're here, it's sexy season coming up, lingerie season. Like if y'all are looking for a celebrity line to buy, do Rihanna, Savage Fenty, better quality, better looking.
Starting point is 00:17:49 Rihanna, lingerie all day if you are trying to choose. Okay. So let's move on to such a hot topic. And this is the text between Blake lively and Taylor Swift, but they're not leaked, right? They're released in a lawsuit. I'm going to break the whole lawsuit down for what happened. But, you know, last week, we saw an avalanche of correspondence between Blake lively and not only Taylor Swift, but Matt Damon and Ben Affleck and Ryan Reynolds' messages and we saw Jenny Slate's messages and it was an onslaught of some you could never imagine seeing in your entire life. I mean, the private correspondence of Taylor Swift, Ben Affleck, the most powerful people in the world. You never think you'd have a window into something so
Starting point is 00:18:38 crazy. It feels invasive. We should not be seeing these. I mean, I'm a look, but I don't be looking. So you and I were like, we're going to get into the, what should we do first? the contents of the text messages or how this is able to be released? I mean, there's just so much. Like, if you care, you probably looked at what you want to see. But Blake Lively and Taylor Swift are kind of talking shit about Justin Maldoni, and they are conspiring to kind of manipulate a situation. It sounds like Blake wants to rewrite something, whatever.
Starting point is 00:19:09 She brings Taylor in to kind of have her back. And they're talking shit about him. And it's so funny because people like latched on to a few things that Taylor said about Justin Baldonie, and I did a whole reel on this. You guys can go watch it. Like, she called him a bitch. She said he's going to bring out his tiny violin. I'm like, if you think that's bad, you've never read women's text messages, especially when conspiring against demand.
Starting point is 00:19:30 Like, maybe you don't even have a best friend. Because this is how, this is tame. This is vanilla. This is the kind of stuff that I say when I don't even hate a person that much, honestly. Like, I mean, you have to assume Taylor Swift had been listening to Blake lively complain about her work environment for months, if not a whole year at this point. And that's the worst she could come up. up with. If you told me every day for months that your work environment was terrible, I would be saying
Starting point is 00:19:54 some unbelievably horrible stuff to support you. This is what best friends do. If my best friend hates him, I hate him here. It's girlhood. I hate them more if you hate them, honestly. Yeah, 100%. Yeah. Like, when you, your best friend gets you fired up about somebody, they have to talk you down then. Like, then it's just like, okay, let's just like take a step back. It's like, you got me all gassed up. Okay, how many times have I said to you, like, I might be more mad about this than you are? Yes, 100%. I'm like, Rayna, take it down a notch. Okay, can you kind of tell me about the Ben Affleck and Matt Damon stuff?
Starting point is 00:20:25 So she emailed them. The one that I read in Fool was the message between Blake Lively and Ben Affleck. She reaches out to him and basically says, can you look at my cut of the film? And this has been a fucking nightmare. There could be a documentary written about me filming this film. He's such a nightmare. I don't expect you to do anything, but I'd like you to watch my cut of the film. The whole drama seems to stem from the fact that, like, Baldoni has his own cut of the film,
Starting point is 00:20:52 and Blake Lively and Brian Reynolds have their cut of the film. And in their cut, also Taylor Swift's song is included in that. And so they're kind of fighting over, like, whose cut is going to be used. And she has these people that are really powerful and is, like, kind of basically using them against Justin Baldoni. I'm not saying that's right. I mean, it's all, it's such a mess. Like, clearly, I think none of us would like if we poured our heart and soul into something. Obviously, he's the one that optioned this movie in the first place.
Starting point is 00:21:22 And then you have an actress come in who has all these connections and all this power and tries to take control. If that's what happened, of course, no one would like that. And of course, she is the villain. Like, if that's what all went down, I don't know. It has gotten so messy at this point. I like forget parts of it. I forget who side I'm on, who I was on, and I changed. And like, now I'm just, it's pure inner.
Starting point is 00:21:43 entertainment at this point. You know, it's so interesting when people are like, whose side are you on? And I sort of feel similar in the Beckham situation where I'm like, I don't know these people. So it's actually hard to be on a side. It sounds like everybody has been kind of being an asshole to everybody. And I don't know these people personally. Yeah. And these are like rich, this is again, above my pay grade. These type of people. Right. These rich, famous people. So they, did Ben Affleck and Matt Damon do anything? I should know this. My, all I saw was email outgoing emails. Outgoing. Okay. So these are out. And you. you and I have just been discussing how this can happen and how it is our biggest fear unlocked.
Starting point is 00:22:20 Like I think anyone is, this is your most private thoughts. I mean, to have your text messages be leaked. I mean, if I was in a lawsuit and they said, we're going to release your text, I would say drop the lawsuit. And I would even say that openly if they were like, hey, Ashley, why did you drop the lawsuit? Because they said they were going to lose my text. And then everybody would understand. Absolutely. And so I have a whole legal breakdown.
Starting point is 00:22:43 for you guys, which I'm going to try to make really fun. It was so fun to research it. And it is a lot easier than you would ever expect for your text messages and your emails to all be released. And you can't stop it. So here's what happens. So Blake lively files a lawsuit, right? And then that immediately opens up a discovery phase.
Starting point is 00:23:02 So what happens is Justin Baldoni's lawyers are allowed to request anything they want, text messages, emails, communication, and her team must produce it. And if they have to collect that stuff and produce it for them. If she refuses, they can compel her to, they can sanction her to, they can draw negative inferences for her refusing. But could she have stopped this before filing? Yes, before filing. But once she has filed, you can't opt out of the discovery phase.
Starting point is 00:23:28 So all of your communication is fair game. And a lawyer will tell you minute one, once you file this lawsuit, all of your communication is fair game. But what do you mean all of your communication? This is also Taylor Swift's privacy. I will explain that further to you. Okay. So how hard is it to subpoena people's text? Once the lawsuit exists, it's really hard to block it.
Starting point is 00:23:50 Okay? It's routine. It's expected. It's very hard to fight successfully. So you might be saying, why are these public? There are three reasons why private text messages might become public. They're filed as court exhibits. They're quoted in motions and they're leaked by PR.
Starting point is 00:24:05 So basically, now that Justin Baldone's lawyers have those messages, people, can leak them. So what about people's privacy? Why should Taylor Swift be pulled into this? How is this fair to her? Okay. If Blake Live was text, as you mentioned Taylor Swift or include her text, they relate to motive, credibility, timeline, state of mind. Taylor Swift becomes a third party witness, even if she did nothing wrong. And courts do not protect third parties just because they're famous or might be embarrassing to them. Yeah. They can seal this information, but it is very hard to seal information. You would seal information if somebody was grossly abused, if somebody is a minor. But basically, Taylor Swift, she can request redactions. She can argue for a protective order,
Starting point is 00:24:52 and she can ask to keep her name out of public filings, but she cannot stop her name from appearing in someone else's text messages. And those text messages had to be produced by Blake lively because she filed this suit. So, yeah. Releisa Epstein files is the bottom line. what I'm hearing is really we should have the Epstein files every single board of them. No, okay. So you can't stop people from being dragged through the mud. Like Taylor Swift can be like, how did I get dragged into it? You're a third party witness now.
Starting point is 00:25:21 You were involved in these text messages in this lawsuit and nobody owes you legal privacy just because you are famous and it's going to embarrass you. That's what the law says. It just doesn't feel crazy. But I mean, no, it's not fair. So I guess it falls on Blake lively. like she shouldn't have done this or she shouldn't have gone down this road or her being anyone who goes down this road right like if you decide to file this your lawyers are going to tell you they're going to
Starting point is 00:25:46 come for your texts they're going to come for your emails they're going you have to produce all this stuff and you would just have to say okay like if that is what caused a rift between her and taylor swift i get it and they can subpoena anybody so you and i know an agent that was subpoenaed also so they can they can subpoena your agent producers they can produce they can produce they can subpoena anybody that was on the set to anybody around them because it's substantial evidence essentially to support one side. So if you ever texted with Blake lively about any of this, you could be dragged into this. But that just doesn't feel fair. It feels like we should have there be something about privacy. Like I should be able to text and communicate with whoever I want
Starting point is 00:26:29 knowing that like it won't get out there because someone wants to have a lawsuit. So the only people I think that are protected is what, spousal protection, right? So communication between spouses. But like, if I said to you, I did this thing, it's really bad, you could be like, don't tell me, I don't want to be an accessory to this crime or whatever. So essentially, like, Taylor Swift is a third party accessory to this crime. It feels super unfair. And honestly, like, it's everything I read says that, like, your lawyers will say this to you minute one. If you file this, your whole life will become public. Okay. Right. And then I'd be like, I'm not doing that. I can't like, it's just like, there's no, but it's not crazy. You're rich enough. Like,
Starting point is 00:27:08 you, why did, who started this? Does she start this? Like, I can't remember. I like, I know, it's so long about it. So my understanding was that the lawsuit started because she was filing like a hostile work environment claim. Yeah, that's what I mean. And then he countersued. And then she also countersued, basically claiming that what he has done has harmed her reputation to the point that she has lost all future income. So she sued him for like a hundred $140 million in lost income. I think it would feel a little different to people if she was suing him for a dollar for a hostile work environment.
Starting point is 00:27:41 That on principle, I'm going to make a statement about what men do to women in the workplace. Yeah, I feel like I just, God, I've forgotten some of this because it was just like, we saw things that happened during the press tour and then she came out and said all this stuff. And then everybody was like, oh, my God, he's like a phony and a monster. Yeah, like he's the villain here. And then it all changed. But then you read it, I remember his smear campaign?
Starting point is 00:28:02 all that stuff. I'm like forgetting. And then it came out that she kind of seemed like she was lying about stuff. I mean, this has just been a wild ride and I'm not trying to get off of the ride. I mean, we've said this since the beginning. They both sound like they're being pretty awful. Yeah. It's hard to say who originated it and who was worse. I mean, Jenny Slate in those messages who plays his sister in the film also said he was unbelievably terrible on the set. The claims from her also back up that he was so terrible. It's just so much he said, she said, I can't get enough of it. I mean, never in my wildest dreams did I think I'd be able to read Taylor Swift's text messages with like lively i mean it's inside try the most powerful people alive yeah there's some
Starting point is 00:28:38 stuff that you're reading you're like god this doesn't feel relevant or pertinent to the lawsuit but i guess it kind of is it just really feels invasive it's sort of like a character assessment at that point like you're saying like this is who she is as a person and that's why it's relevant i guess yeah again this isn't about how you feel about these people i mean it's obviously we all have biased in some way about how we feel about this case, but I do like seeing a lot of the commentary and like, these texts aren't even bad. Like, you should see my text with my friends. Like, I do feel like there's a lot of rational people being like, what did you expect about these two women talking about this man that they were trying to take down, whether you agree with them doing that or not.
Starting point is 00:29:19 But I guess that's what the text are trying to prove. Okay, so let's just take a quick break and talk about quince and then we will get back into it. Okay, if you are starting the year with a wardrobe refresh. Quince has you guys covered. I am literally crazy about Quince. There are very few days I'm not wearing something from Quince. So they have all these like lux essentials that feel really effortless and polished and you can like layer and mix and build a whole wardrobe. But the price blows me away. Starting point is 00:30:41 365 day returns. Now available in Canada, too. That's QINCE.com slash GGE to get free shipping and 365 day returns. Quince.com slash GGE. Okay. What do we have next? A crotch enlarging scandal has hit the Winter Olympics. The Winter Olympics haven't even started and we have Big Dick Pol Walter, the sequel, if you guys remember from the Olympics in 2024, the Big Dick Paul Walter, where his like Dick got caught and we like talked about this at length. But this is different. This is, this actually isn't as spicy as it sounds, but Raina, you can tell us about it. So, so basically, I'm the Norway's suit technicians. So the people that build the suits for the country star ski jumpers were caught on video adding stitching to the suits.
Starting point is 00:31:34 So basically adding more surface area to the crotch area. So why would anybody add stitching to the crotch area to win? So a larger suit means the jumper can fly farther through the air, like how a bigger sail would make a boat sail fast. It's for performance. It's like a, it's like a deflating, footballs, like a cheating type of thing is what it is. It's not for aesthetics because I'm like, why wouldn't you want to look like you have a big dick? I mean, the big dick pole vaulter got so much
Starting point is 00:32:04 attention. But I know. It's like a cheating thing. So there's rules that state an athlete's suit cannot be more than four centimeters larger than the surface area of their body. So I mean, you do stand to win if you have a bigger dick. And then there's these rumors around it that Some of the athletes were injecting their dicks with hyluronic acid. Like, there's, I think it's not a rumor, right? They weren't actually making their dicks bigger. You wouldn't do that. You're an athlete.
Starting point is 00:32:33 You're taking care of your body more than the average person. Well, it says, as little as one extra centimeter can add five meters of length to a jump. And apparently it's not that uncommon. So according to this German tabloid, some skiers even go as far as use hyluronic acid-filled sleeves to manipulate the size of their crotch. They're sipping it. They're slipping a sleeve in. Okay, sorry.
Starting point is 00:32:54 I was just like, this seems a little extreme. To win the Olympics, though? Get a little filler your penis. No, and I thought they were putting, like injecting their dicks like your ass. No, but I'm saying. You got a penis enlargement. Actually, I want people to come to the tour. Oh, sorry.
Starting point is 00:33:06 I'll look at that. No, it's okay. You can leave it. You know what? You guys just come to the tour. I'm going to talk about it. Well, I didn't know if it was on the set list. Because I've never seen your comedy.
Starting point is 00:33:15 I'm closing the hour, actually. It's my closer. Penis enlargement. Okay. So this one hits close to home. Okay, well, to wrap it up, the Winter Olympics are starting soon, and we will report back. We have the heated rivalry guys as the torch bears, right?
Starting point is 00:33:32 And I just, if it's anything like the last Olympics we reported on, we did a whole episode, remember, two years ago? So let's look at some drama out of these. We are going to close with just a bit of a more serious message. Following the murder in Minneapolis by ICE this past weekend. obviously this is constantly on mine and Ashley's minds and what is happening in this country. And so we know this is a fun show, but we want to also acknowledge it because we've been deeply heartbroken by what's going on there.
Starting point is 00:34:06 And Ashley and I say this all the time we performed there so much, it is just the kindest, most wonderful people in the country and our heartbreaks for the city of Minneapolis and what they're going through. Yeah, I mean, again, this is something I could talk about for literally. literal hours. This is all I'm talking about with my friends and family. And I post a lot on social media. And so if you guys want to see more from us, we do post on our personal Instagrams. That's all I do. That's all I've been doing for weeks and for years, for 10 years. I mean, Ray and I have been talking about this stuff for literally since the podcast started and when,
Starting point is 00:34:38 like, families were being ripped away at the border under the Trump administration. So this is just something that's always been a cause that we have stood for. And you guys know how we feel about the administration and what is happening in this country. And I cannot believe what we're seeing happening in Minnesota and why they're being targeted. It's so disgusting. They're targeting Maine, like all these places that never asked for this. Like, it's just purely politically motivated against who Trump considers to be his enemies. Like, I could go on and on and on. But yes, like someone else has been murdered. Renee Good was just a few weeks ago. And this man, Alex Prattie, you guys have seen this by now, the 37-year-old ICU nurse who worked with veterans and
Starting point is 00:35:19 who seemed like a really wonderful person and was defending a woman who had been pushed down by an ICE agent and was filming as we need to do to hold these people accountable. And he did have a weapon on him. It was concealed. They had already disarmed him. And then they shot him to his death 10 times. I mean, it's just so sick. And I think we all, for the most part, we all feel this way.
Starting point is 00:35:47 and we unfortunately are watching murder on our phones. But fortunately, we have proof of what's being done. And then the government is still lying about what happened, even though the video proof is there. You know, it's horrible to watch this on your phone and then watch people justify this violence. And it's people that you are sworn to protect, that you are gunning down.
Starting point is 00:36:13 It's these people that I have to be afraid of people with guns in their cities. and these are things that are caught on video, and you would think it would be impossible to spin this, but it is being spun by the administration, and we will continue to speak out about this as long as we can. But, you know, it's hard to sort of watch this and go on with your day. Like, this was happening. I want to just, like, validate.
Starting point is 00:36:36 Like, it's hard to digest that this is what's happening on your phone and then be like, I have to make dinner for my children. I have to go to work. I mean, I was watching this on my phone. I had to get on stage at the stand and tell Joe. I mean, it's hard to live in these two realities where you're like, I want to compartmentalize this for a second, but this is next door to me. This is no longer like so far away. I can turn a blind eye. And that's at least the good thing I think that has happened through this, through these terrible things that keep happening one by one. And you're like, I can't even recover from the last thing is that we are finally seeing people from both sides speak out. And it has been a real explosion of that, especially on Saturday. night into Sunday this week that I saw people that hadn't spoken out in a long time. And I tried to sort of stop my anger because, you know, I sat there and thought, you know, a lot of y'all that
Starting point is 00:37:27 were pretty loud about Charlie Kirk are pretty quiet about what's happening here. And one by one, I did start to see more people say stuff. And I don't want to villainize anybody for changing their mind. And that one meme got really a lot of traction. It was green. And it said, like, it's okay to change your mind. And it's okay to say, like, I made a mistake or I thought I voted for something and this is not what I'm getting and it's like never too late. And I want to like not villainize people now that voted for that. I want to like be proud of people for like finally seeing what's in front of their faces. At this point, the government, they don't believe this either. They know they're lying to. They know some of these people will still believe them. Like they're watching the videos
Starting point is 00:38:05 too. Like you're watching these people fumble and bumble on Fox News. Even Fox News is kind of like trying to be like, hey, this isn't what happened. And how do you, how do you justify this? And so To people who can still defend this now in this moment, who can double down on having no empathy, no critical thinking, who can triple down in their hypocrisy, I'm done speaking to them. On my platforms, I want to speak to the people that want change. Like, I say that and like, I don't think I can change their minds. Like, it's not, it's not going to be me. You know, at this point, if you can still defend this, we, there's no, there's, like, you're too far gone. And so to, to, the people who still want to save our democracy, who care about others, who are appalled by everything going on. Like, I just want to remind all of you that we have power. We really do. And the people of Minnesota have demonstrated this in such an inspirational way. They went on strike. They took over the streets of the whole city and below freezing temperatures. They have stopped at nothing to
Starting point is 00:39:07 help and protect their neighbors. They have said, no, we are not putting up with this. And there has been a shift. It works. Like, we just have to ban to together and you know, we will continue to post resources. I think Emily and your phone is a great resource for how to get in touch with your senators and how to just be relentless with them. They work for us. Like we pay their salaries, like just harass them, you know, like legally, like, but nonstop. And we have power in our spending. I mean, you saw what happened when people canceled their ABC, Hulu, Disney Plus because of Jimmy Kimmel. I mean, like, I just want to plant the seed now that like that is what it's going to take.
Starting point is 00:39:47 It is going to take some of these strikes and spending, like think about now where you spend your money. Like I was watching Scott Galloway talk about this. Like I just want to plant the seed now. Like this is what's going to take. I mean, this is the only way everything is about money and power and we have money and power. Like everything corrupt that happens in the world, follow the money. I mean, it's just all that's all these people care about is just money, power.
Starting point is 00:40:09 It's all greed. And it's really just become this oligarchy and the way we, we can fight back is with our spending. And so I don't really have the answers right now, but I just want to kind of get people thinking in that way. And like, remember that we do have power and your voice matters. It doesn't, you don't have a big platform.
Starting point is 00:40:28 We don't have to be an influencer, but like speak out, show other people that it's okay to speak out and that you're on the right side of history and the people that aren't and they're just going about their day and they're posting business as usual and truly have made that choice. It is a choice. We see you and I won't forget.
Starting point is 00:40:45 you know, I was really blown away by the amount of people that spoke up this time. And every voice, like, really does matter to me. And I think every day, like, what can I possibly contribute to this conversation that is not anger, that is not sadness? You know, what am I really bringing into the table? But I saw this quote, it said culturally and influential people shape our permission structures. So if you're a food influencer, a fashion influencer, if you're a car influencer, if you have the smallest platform, 3,000 people, like, you putting it on the internet and just saying, I don't stand for it, gives other people permission to say, hey, I saw this other opinion online.
Starting point is 00:41:19 This is a thought I also share. It empowers people with no platform to turn to their parents and say, I don't agree with this stuff. And it just gives other people the tools. I mean, we joke about it all the time, like, when we say, like, if you want to bring, like, a toy or something, a sex toy into the bedroom, you say, like, I saw this thing on this podcast. And, like, that's a good way to open up conversations with other people.
Starting point is 00:41:40 I just, I saw this thing that this influencer posted. And so even if you have three, you have three, you have. 3,000 followers and you feel like that doesn't matter. Like, it still matters. And the amount of messages that, like, Ashley and I get when we post this stuff just saying, thank you for sharing this. Thank you for, like, actually talking about what's going on. It's just, it means so much.
Starting point is 00:41:59 I cry reading them. Ashley posts way more than I do. I'm sure she gets way more messages. It's every day. It's an onslaught every day of thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you. It matters. And I'm not saying that to gas myself up, but it matters. And like, the people that are like, you've just held.
Starting point is 00:42:14 me feel like not crazy. Like I look to you guys and I admire you and it just, it means the world. So thank you guys for those messages. And yes, to Raina's point, like we've also had people say, like you helped me to speak up, like even people who are influencers, you know, like I've seen what you guys have done and inspired me and encourage me to do the same and find the words. And then that's just a ripple effect too. And I just, but like it can't just be posts on social media. There has to be other action as well. So find out what that action is with what you want to get in touch with your senators, you want to join a protest, you want to boycott these companies. You know, we have power in other ways and we'll continue to speak about that. And, you know,
Starting point is 00:42:51 I just want to say, like, Alex Prattie was not the first person ISIS killed. He was literally, like, the 10th, and that's not even talking about all the people that are unaccounted for in these detention centers, the five-year-old little boy that got sent to a detention center, the two-year-old girl. These kids are, like, screaming outside. They're like inside this detention center in Texas. Like, you can hear their screams. Like, a dozen. and people have died by the hands of ice. We know about the white citizens the most with names that are easier to pronounce. These are the ones that make the news. These are also ones that have probably been filmed more for various reasons, but he's not the first. Neither was Renee Good.
Starting point is 00:43:28 And they won't be the last. And so I just want to remember him, remember all these people. And my heart is with their families and their friends. And this was so just like, heart. heart-shattering and especially when you think about someone that just wanted to do right in the world and lost his life to our government while he was trying to protect someone else. Well, thank you to everybody who uses their voice to do this and has gone to a protest, has supported a small business, has, I don't feel like emotional about this, but this is on our minds constantly. So until we are really forced to, we will always speak up for those who can't speak up and
Starting point is 00:44:13 speak out about this. And for anybody who just posted anything on Instagram or talked to a family member or anybody, thank you. I'm very emotional. No, I mean, it's, I can't like I, you know, I just want to remind you guys that it is so not normal to see someone get killed on your fucking device and go about your day. I, yeah, we were at lunch and we, at this weekend, we had to leave. I just started crying. I couldn't stop. Like, it will just come out of nowhere. I can't, like, some of these people, I can't, like, I can't see the picture of that little. boy, I can't see the picture of Alex Preti. I fucking lose it.
Starting point is 00:44:48 And we'll keep this in just because I think, you know, it's relatable. But if you feel like you can't fucking keep it together sometimes, take care of yourself, get off of your device. Like we can't just be in this constant like scroll hole, even though sometimes it can feel good because you see people that are aligned with you, you know, but like it will exhaust you. And then we cannot be effective. So take care of yourself.
Starting point is 00:45:13 and we will continue to give resources when we can. Yeah. So like Ashley said, Emily and your phone is fantastic. We love Jessica Yellen. Both of them are great resources. Indivisible team. Indivisible is great. Guys, those are my three.
Starting point is 00:45:30 I feel like Jessica Yellen for your news. Emily and your phone for a lot of the call on your senators and then indivisible for a lot of the other stuff. Oh, we love you guys. Different tone to end this one. but thank you for listening and sticking through it. Yeah. So Girls Gotta Eat.com, Raina Greenberg.com for her tour tickets and the tour starts tonight.
Starting point is 00:45:53 And I am Ash Hess on Instagram if you want to see me over there, ranting and raving. Raina is rena.org, Girls Gotty Podcast on Instagram and TikTok. This was all out of order, but who fucking cares? And subscribe on YouTube, but you share this episode with a friend. And we will see you Monday. Have a good weekend, guys. Bye.
