Yeah, guys, we'll just kind of jump right in.
So welcome to Good News York at the Winter Fair.
This is pretty fun, right?
I am joined by a large number of young people.
I don't know what happened.
I was just standing here.
Suddenly, there's a crowd of people.
Who are you, folks?
You can start.
We are Blue's Ignition.
That's Madison, Miss Joey.
I'm Anthony.
That's Tyler.
That's Enrique.
And that's Julia.
We've been doing this for a couple years now.
Yeah?
So blues ignition, that implies some kind of music, right?
Is that what's happening here?
Yeah.
We play gigs a lot.
We always do the New York State Blues Fest.
Awesome.
That's really fun.
Let me ask you.
Blues is not something you always feel is synonymous with young people, right?
So what got you interested in playing that kind of music?
I think what got us interested in blues is kind of like,
It's a fun community.
Like I feel like, especially with the crowds, they're really supportive and each other, of course.
And it's fun kind of music because I feel like a really big thing with blues is you can really make it your own and have fun with it and make whatever song into how you want it.
So we like to play around with that and have fun.
I love it.
Now, I got to assume you play some instruments, right?
Is that, what's everybody play?
I'd love to hear.
I play drums.
Okay.
I also play the drums.
Nice.
I play the saxophone.
All right.
I play the bass.
Wow.
He's got the bass voice, too.
Look at this guy.
I love this.
I'm sorry.
I play guitar and vocals.
Wow.
I just sing.
Just the singer, guys.
That's awesome.
What's probably one of your most popular songs that people love to hear you play?
Rock steady by Aretha Franklin.
Yeah.
It's our favorite, probably a crowd favorite.
We love playing that song.
Yeah.
That's incredible.
And now you said you play all over the place.
Where can folks find you and learn about where you might be playing?
Yeah, Facebook.
You can look us up on Instagram, Facebook.
Just type in Blue Signition.
Also, me and Madison and Joey, we have another band called Matt Tones and a Cup of Joe.
Nice.
We're going to be getting more gigs soon.
That's great.
You can also find us on Instagram and Facebook.
That's incredible, guys.
Let me ask the gentleman,
Our bass man here.
How long have you been with the group?
I've been with the group for about last year and this year.
Great.
Two yearsish.
What drew you to join?
My grandma told me to join.
All right.
She knows Edgar Pagan.
He's organizing everything.
And he's like our agent.
Gotcha.
She told me to join and I thought it was jazz.
So on my first day, I brought like a big, upright base.
And that didn't go well.
But from that point on, I just really liked everyone here.
They're really nice to socialize with.
That's great.
That's really cool to hear.
Let me ask you guys, are you from the area?
Are you from Syracuse area?
Yeah?
I think most of us are.
Some of us are from Liverpool.
Gotcha.
I'm from Auburn myself.
Okay.
And what kind of area do you play in?
Do you play all over New York State, mostly in the local area, where might folks see you around?
Me and Joey have played gigs in A Bay.
Wow.
Dinosaur Barbecue.
All over the place.
All over Syracuse.
I love it.
This is great.
Before I let you guys go, anything else that folks should know about you?
Things that are interesting, something, anything particular gigs coming up, do you want to plug?
Anything like that come to mind?
Yeah, I'm a part of a All-Star.
group hosted by Paul Davy.
Biedelcuse. We're playing July 6th in Liverpool, search it up on Facebook.
Okay. I know Paul, I've heard a lot about Beetlecuse, so that's pretty cool.
I love that young people are involved in that too. This is great. There's hope for the
younger generation, I think. This is wonderful.
Guys, this has been really awesome. We really appreciate you coming on Good News, York.
We are a podcast based right here in Syracuse that talks exclusively about good news and fun stuff
and good people. So in the future, when you have gigs, you have interesting things you want to
talk about. We'd love to have you in the studio anytime and do that. So, all right? Thanks,
guys.
