I'm Mike Bern Dissie, usually joined by my co-host Matt Mazer, he's off probably pushing people around at the soup kitchen. I am here still.
Starting point is 00:01:28 But today's not just any episode of Good News York. It is the NFL draft special. For those of you that follow the NFL, you know how great the NFL draft is. And some of us, like myself, are what I would call draft dorks. Even before I had the show, I would do mock drafts every year for the sheer enjoyment of it. And I would hit on some and, well, I would, flop on most. But I did it for the fun of it and now I get to share it with you. I'm wearing my Josh Allen Wyoming jersey where he went to college. I love me some Josh Allen. Big Buffalo
Starting point is 00:02:04 Bill's fan. We're going to talk about that. But I wanted to talk today just basically about the first round. That's where all the juices, right? That's where that's the most fun to talk about. Now, if you wanted to talk about where the most, the actual juice is, this is a draft where the second, third, fourth, fifth round are where the majority of the talent is. There's not as much elite talent in the first round as years passed. But we're going to have a lot of fun talking about that. I am joined by our wonderful producer of Good News York, Mr. Danny Tripote. Daniel, you are here.
Starting point is 00:02:42 Hey, yeah, I'm here. I've held you captive, buddy. You could have left a long time ago. Let me finish six hours worth of, you know, draft research so we can shoot this. I did put in my time. So I'm ready for questions. Do we have a chat going?
Starting point is 00:02:58 We have a chat going? Yeah, I'm monitoring. Awesome. Awesome. Well, let's kick off the 2025 NFL draft special here on Good News York with what's going on in the chat. What do we got? What's up first? Hit me.
Starting point is 00:03:12 So it looks like we've got somebody asking, give me your best favorite and sleeper picks for each position. Best favorite and sleeper picks for each position. This was tough for a lot of reasons. There are so many more question marks in this draft than in most. You know, as I was just saying, there's been a lot of talent at the top of the draft that, you know, they're tier one. And then there's this big drop off. But I've got some things here that I think. are going to make a lot of sense.
Starting point is 00:03:52 Let's start with the quarterback. Now, obviously, Cam Ward is the best quarterback in the draft. If you look at the big boards, I mean, he's probably the 17th to 20th best athlete in the entire draft. But because QB is such an important position, the most important position in probably all of sports, you know what, you can take a guy who's ranked 17th or 20th, and you're going to draft them in the top five. Because if you're in the top five, chances are you don't have a quarterback and you suck. So it is most of the time, you're not going to, with the first pick, take the 17th best guy.
Starting point is 00:04:33 But in this case, you've got one clear-cut guy who is NFL ready and ready to start right away. And that would be Cam Ward from University of Miami going to the Titans. I mean, at this point, it's pretty much a lock that they're going to take him, but you never know what can happen. So that would be my best QB. My favorite QB? Because you said best favorite and sleeper, right? All right.
Starting point is 00:04:57 So the best QB Cam Ward, that's just obvious. My favorite QB in the draft is Jalen Milrow. This dude is off the charts. In fact, literally off the charts. When he tested at the combine, he is the most athletic player in the entire draft by numbers. Now, that doesn't always translate to the QB position. You can be an amazing athlete,
Starting point is 00:05:21 but I personally think 90% of what happens behind center or on offense as a QB is between the ears. It's a very mental game. And I think that's kind of where Jalen Milro struggles. I mean, this guy, if you didn't know anything about football or the draft and you just watched on tape, you'd go, dude, this guy is unbelievable. Why is he not being picked first?
Starting point is 00:05:47 Well, what I just said. He has some decision-making issues. That is pretty obvious. But the arm talent, he's probably the best runner I've seen as a quarterback since Lamar Jackson. He kind of reminds me a little bit of a Kyler Murray as a runner as well. But my God, what can I say that everybody else in the NFL media world hasn't said. But, you know, bottom line, this guy has the potential to be the best player
Starting point is 00:06:22 in the entire draft. But there's going to be a key to drafting him. And I'll talk about that a little bit later. If you are going to draft him, it has to be the absolute right situation because of that. He is my absolute favorite player because he is so fun to watch. He's got the potential to be a Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen, you know, Patrick Mahomes. type player, but just a lot of raw, a lot of raw traits that need to be kind of refined. And also, you know, he's got a lot of trouble, you know, with decision making and things of that nature.
Starting point is 00:07:01 Now, my sleeper picks for quarterback, at this point, it's hard to find sleeper picks, right? Because all the quarterbacks in this draft have been talked about. But I love Will Howard and Tyler Shuck. Tyler Shuck is 25 years old. Honestly, he's the most ready quarterback to go. I mean, out of anybody in the draft, even Cam Ward, I would say this guy is a sleeper alone just for the fact that he's 25 years old. He's got three college degrees.
Starting point is 00:07:33 He's played a million football games. And I'm sorry, experience trumps everything for me. And he's got a ton of experience. And honestly, if you're going to invest in a football games, he's played a million football games. you're going to invest in a quarterback and they're going to be 25 years old, you're probably going to draft a guy that you want to start right away because in three years, he's going to be 28, right? So it's not a guy you kind of want to sit very long.
Starting point is 00:07:55 It's kind of like, let's draft him and let's throw him out there and see what we get. But back to Will Howard, this guy, I know they talk about he doesn't have the strongest arm. He didn't have a lot of 40-plus yard passes at all. really. And because of that, you know, people have struggled with him and kind of fitting him where he goes. But what
Starting point is 00:08:20 I do love about Will Howard is he just looks so comfortable in the pocket and he's got a lot of the tangibles, but the intangibles, if you hear him speak, the guy's a winner. And he's a lot bigger than you think. It doesn't
Starting point is 00:08:36 translate on tape. For me, a lot of times I think guys are small and then I see them being interviewed and I realize, holy shit, they're giants. I'm also 5'6, so everyone's a giant to me. But I think Will Howard has a lot of upside. And I do take into consideration that he did play for Ohio State, which is known for. Of course, it's wide receiver university there. He had some amazing wide receivers.
Starting point is 00:08:59 Speaking of wide receiver, my best favorite and sleeper for this position, obviously the best player in the draft at wide receiver is Travis Hunter. Do I need to say more? my favorite. Now look, Egbuka from Ohio State. This guy, to me, is one of the most polished and NFL ready quarterbacks, or excuse me, wide receivers in this draft class. The only reason he's not at the top of my list for the bills to draft him
Starting point is 00:09:30 is because he's a power slot receiver. Bills need a tall, you know, boundary type of guy. But to me, I love Egbuka. I also love Kyle Williams. It has a little bit of a Stefan Diggs vibe to him. And being a Bills fan and somebody who knows Diggs very well, absolutely love him. I have two more that I love on here.
Starting point is 00:09:53 Jaden Higgins, Iowa State, absolutely in love with him, and Trey Harris from Ole Miss. Trey Harris. Trey Harris has not been talked about enough. I didn't put him as a sleeper because, you know, he is kind of ranked higher, but he just, he's bigger, he's a bigger, big bodied receiver with speed, separation, you can throw it to him downfield, absolutely love him.
Starting point is 00:10:19 And then I, this, for sleepers, this guy right here might be my sleeper of the entire draft at any position. I have two sleepers for the wide receiver position. I have Savian Williams, who I guess is a sleeper because he's so far down the, the, the rankings, but if people know who he is, he played for TCU, the guy is a gadget guy. He can play as a running back. He can play as a slot receiver. He can catch the ball downfield.
Starting point is 00:10:48 He's fast as hell. Love me some Savian Williams. He's a huge Swiss Army knife. But for me, my favorite sleeper in the wide receiver class, and as I said, maybe even in the whole NFL class, is Kobe Hudson. I bet you haven't heard that name. Kobe Hudson from UCF. Check him out.
Starting point is 00:11:05 absolutely in love with this guy, obviously playing for a school that's not really, you know, in playing teams like Michigan and Oregon and, you know, Ohio State and all the teams that pretty much have NFL ready offenses. But love me some Kobe Hudson, look them up. Let's move on to tight end.
Starting point is 00:11:25 A tight end, my best tight end in the draft. Oh, look at my microphone's sad. The best tight end in the draft without question is Tyler Warren. Colston Loveland, I mean, you could argue too, but I think Tyler Warren is just a step ahead of that. My favorite tight end in the draft, Mason Taylor.
Starting point is 00:11:44 That's right. That's Jason Taylor's son. You might remember Jason Taylor from the Miami Dolphins. This guy, to me, he's not being put in that same tier as Tyler Warren and Colston Loveland, but I don't know, I watch the tape, and I think he is blue chip and ready to go.
Starting point is 00:12:04 And let's go. He comes from pedigree, man. He comes from Jason Taylor. Now, that doesn't always mean your definite lock to be good in the NFL, but it helps, right? So I love me some Mason Taylor. And then for my sleeper pick for tight end, I'm going to be a little bit of a homer. Orande Gadsden from right here in Syracuse, New York. Awesome, tight end.
Starting point is 00:12:24 He can block. He can catch the ball downfield. Absolutely love him. And then Gunner Helm from Texas. That's a guy who, you know, a lot of analysts and, you know, front office people, we talk about, oh, we want a tight end that can block and can catch like a Grancowski or like a Travis Kelsey. Bad news. That is so hard to find. To be good at both, it's tough. This guy is one of those rare cases, I think, Gunnardhelm, who, man, he can throw himself in front of a block and also be the past catcher that you're looking. for. Moving on to running back. I mean, come on. Best running back, favorite running back sleeper.
Starting point is 00:13:12 The best is obviously Ashton Genty by a mile and a half. O'Marie and Hampton right behind him. Kind of got a DeMarco Murray type of feel. He just is not afraid to dive into a pile, make contact. He's big. He's fast. Absolutely love him. But definitely those would be your two best running backs, in my opinion. And then my favorite running back of the entire class is Travion Henderson. This dude is unbelievable. To me, other than Genti, I think he is the most polished of all the running backs. He can cut on a dime.
Starting point is 00:13:55 He's fast. He's strong. He's got great balance. He checks all the boxes. Love me some Trayvion Henderson. Let me take a look here. Moving on. Geez.
Starting point is 00:14:08 What else do we have? I did QB. Y. Oh, yeah, yeah. Yeah. Okay. Let's talk about offensive tackle. My gosh.
Starting point is 00:14:17 I am a huge fan of, you know, most of the linemen in this draft class. But there is a guy. This is not a sexy pick. Okay. You're listening to a podcast right now. Driving, working out, walking the dog. If you're into podcasts, chances are you have something to say too.

Start your new podcast for free today at RSS.com. Well, let me start with this. The best do we need to argue, it's Will Campbell of LSU. He's the best offensive linemen in the draft, without a doubt. But my favorite lineman in the draft is Tyler Booker from, oh boy, I think Alabama.
Starting point is 00:15:49 Tyler Booker from Alabama. This dude is a beast. He's an interior lineman, but he is fierce. I absolutely love him. And then I would say your sleeper pick for offensive line, I got to go with a guy by the name of Cameron Williams from, I believe, Tennessee or Texas? Cameron Williams, I should look that up.
Starting point is 00:16:10 Cameron Williams, I believe, let's take a look here. I should have wrote down. It's hard to remember all these guys, not Cameron Diaz. There we are. Cameron Williams. Yes, Texas. All right, so Cameron Williams of Texas, kind of under the radar, check him out.
Starting point is 00:16:32 that would be my sleeper for that. Moving on to corner. Again, pretty obvious Will Johnson, best corner in the draft. I would say, besides Will Johnson, I think Barron, Jaday Barron from Texas, is nipping at his heels as the best. My favorite would be Maxwell Hirston from Kentucky, Trey Amos from Ole Miss, and Benjamin Morrison from Notre Dame. And then here's a little bit of a deep one here for my sleeper pick, obviously. At corner, my sleeper would be Darian Porter. Check him out. Unbelievable.
Starting point is 00:17:11 Love him. Moving on to defensive tackle. We're getting there. You wanted to know my best, my favorite, and my sleeper for each position. The best, again, pretty obvious, all of these. We know the best at this point, Mason Graham. My favorite defensive tackles, Alfred Collins from Texas. What a beast.
Starting point is 00:17:31 Tileak Williams. from Alabama and then T.J. Sanders, University of South Carolina. Those three are my absolute favorites. And for your sleeper, look out for Desmond Watson. The dude's like 400 pounds. This makes no sense. And he is wildly athletic. Usually when you have a one technique defensive tackle, who's 300 plus,
Starting point is 00:17:54 they just kind of anchor in the middle. Obviously, you have to be athletic. But you're going to stop the run for most of the time. This dude makes no sense. He's like 400 pounds. He plays for the Florida Gators. Not only is he a run stuffer. He can pass rush.
Starting point is 00:18:12 And he's agile. It's the strangest thing you've ever seen. And then check out Omar Norman Lott from Tennessee, another defensive tackle that's not getting enough love. For defensive end, a very sexy class, defensive tackle and defensive end, especially at defensive end. There is no question.
Starting point is 00:18:29 This is a generational talent, Abdul Carter from Penn. State is your best. My favorite, Mike Green from Marshall, James Pierce, Jr., from Texas, Shamar Stewart, Texas, A&M, and Landon Jackson from Arkansas. Those are all guys I would kill to have on the bills. Those are my favorite. Under the radar, sleepers at defensive end.
Starting point is 00:18:55 UFEMI Oladejo, say that 10 times fast. I believe he's UCLA. Brady Swinson and J.T. Tomolo from Ohio State. I don't even know if I'm saying their names right. I watch their film. Those are three guys that I think are sleepers that could be really good NFL caliber defense events. We're almost there. Last but not least, we've got safety.
Starting point is 00:19:21 At safety, it could flip-flop so many ways. But I would say the best safeties in this draft, would be your obvious Malachi Stark's from Georgia and Eamon Worry from South Carolina as well as Xavier Watts now not a lot of people have him as the best I do I have him in the top tier there at best he plays for of course Notre Dame
Starting point is 00:19:48 so my favorite Eamon Worry the dude is unbelievable he's been comp to Derwin James because of his size and athleticism he's also one of the most athletic players in the entire draft. So that would be my favorite. And then a safety to watch for,
Starting point is 00:20:07 a sleeper, would be Malachi Moore. And I'm blanking out on which college he goes to. I've watched so much damn tape today. But Malachi Moore, I believe it's Georgia. Check him out. In fact, why don't I just look it up? That's why I have this here. You know, this isn't sports center.
Starting point is 00:20:26 You know, I can take a second. Malachi more. is, let's see if I was right. Malachi Moore is a safety from Alabama. I was not right. So, yes. And those would be my best favorite and my sleepers. Damn, dude. Putting me to work. What else we got on this NFL draft special on Good News York? Yeah, so we've got BVille Bomber 32 in chat and he asks, do you have any teams in mind
Starting point is 00:20:56 that might trade up or down in the first round? Let me look at my draft board here. That's a great question. I mean, look, when I do my mock drafts, I don't do any trades. One, because I'm too cheap to buy premium and they won't let me. Two, it is nearly impossible to, you know, there's some mock drafts where guys are like a. I think the bills trade with Minnesota, which I think could happen, by the way. Look, I don't have the time or the knowledge to know who is going to trade with who.
Starting point is 00:21:26 I mean, I have some ideas. But I guess to answer that question, I think some teams that might trade down that are pretty intriguing would be Chicago at 10 because I think they do have a bunch of needs. They also have a brand new coach that might want to stockpile some picks. And as I said before,
Starting point is 00:21:47 and for the reason that I think this list of teams I'm going to come up with that could trade down and would trade down is because the meat of this draft, the talent is in the second round. third round. So I would say, yeah, I would say Chicago, Las Vegas, again, a team with a brand new, I think general manager, definitely brand new coach and Pete Carroll, brand new QB. So those teams are in the top, you know, that are in the top 10. Jacksonville would be one. Carolina, Jacksonville's at five. Carolina is at eight. New Orleans at nine. I think
Starting point is 00:22:27 all of those teams could trade out, one, because they're in the top 10, and that's a place where a lot of teams like to trade up to. But again, also because these are teams that need multiple positions, and believe it or not, the positions they need, the value is not there. For example, you know, a team like Jacksonville, right, they could use somebody like, actually, no, that's a bad example. Let's go with, like, the Panthers. Okay, the Panthers need so much.
Starting point is 00:22:59 Let's say they wanted to draft a wide receiver there, which they very well could. I have them taking... What do I have them taking? I have them taking McMillan. That would actually be good value there. My point is, the reason you would even trade out of the top 10 is because you don't find the value in the player that you need there
Starting point is 00:23:19 and you want to stockpile picks. I do also see what intrigues me is Minnesota. I could see Minnesota. at, where are they? Minnesota's at why am I? Oh, there they are. 24.
Starting point is 00:23:35 I could see Minnesota because they, I mean, they have a roster that's pretty damn stacked. I could see them moving back and someone coming in. That's a spot that intrigues me as well. As far as moving up, I personally think, as someone who's a Bill's fan,
Starting point is 00:23:53 I think the bills take a big swing this year. I think they, move up from 30. I think they've been hanging around 30 for quite a while now because they've been consistently good. And I think this is the year where there's just, there's only, you know, three or four holes on the roster. They've got so many picks on the back end, mostly, that why draft 10 players or seven players, whatever you got when you only need three or four? In their situation, I think it would make sense to take a big swing, especially because the top your talent.
Starting point is 00:24:25 There's not much of it in the first round. And then there's a big drop-off in the second round, and they're kind of on the edge there. And we all know that Brandon Bean likes to get, he gets a little jumpy. He likes to jump up. He gets nervous. So for some reason, I think, and that's where Minnesota, I could see Minnesota being a spot where maybe they flip-flop.
Starting point is 00:24:46 I do have kind of a hot take on a trade, and that is, what if? Cleveland or the Giants? trade back in for a quarterback, right? So let's say Cleveland, you know, some people had Chidor Sanders going at two to Cleveland. As time's gone on, I don't see the value for them. I know they have Joe Flacco, and that's about it. But I don't see drafting Chedore Sanders there.
Starting point is 00:25:13 I mean, I could see it happening, but I wouldn't agree that that's the move they should make, but it's the Browns. So it could be anything. They could draft a punter from Cortland. But I could see. Cleveland or the Giants taking Abdul Carter, Travis Hunter, you name it, and then coming back in, depending on the capital that they have, to grab that QB.
Starting point is 00:25:35 I'll talk more about that too. But yeah, so trades hard to predict, but you can kind of get an idea of who's likely to trade, you know, based on roster and position and all that. What else do we got, Danny? What's going on in the old Chattaroosky? You know, let's take a look. We got Bill's Fan for Life asks, what do you think the bills are going to do?
Starting point is 00:26:03 Look, do you think the bills are going to do? It's a broad question. Well, look, the bills, which, by the way, the bills are the only New York team. This is Good News York. If I talked about the Jets or the Giants, they're in New Jersey. And we are Good News York,
Starting point is 00:26:20 so I want to talk about the New York football team. Zing. Look, the bills need corner, they need defensive tackle, they need defensive end, and they need wide receiver. There's a little bit of an argument on the fringe about safety because of McDermott's system and Babbage's system. You can kind of using the nickel, you could use a corner, you can use a linebacker, you could use a safety.
Starting point is 00:26:46 But for the most part, I say it's corner, defensive, tackle, defensive end, wide receiver. Now, as I just say, said not long ago, I do think I just have this feeling they take a big swing and come up for a corner defensive tackle, wide receiver or defensive end. Which one? I don't know. I do think they do move up. Now, whether they do or whether they stay at 30, here's what I do think. And this is what I'll do. I'll do, here's who I think the bills will draft, my dream pick, and then who I realistically think will be there and who they would take,
Starting point is 00:27:25 who they could get. So for Clorner, I mean, look, the dream would be Will Johnson or Joday Barron, right? Will Johnson from Michigan, Jada Barron from Texas. I don't see that. I mean, there's a chance Barron could fall. Will Johnson, there's no way. So I think Will Johnson would probably be one of the corners. that the bills, if they do trade up,
Starting point is 00:27:51 that would be a player they would go for. So those would be my two dreams. Who do I realistically think they want? Or who they would be there and who they'll get? Would be Max Harrison from Kentucky. Trey Amos from Ole Miss and Porter. That's who I realistically think they would grab. Now defensive tackle,
Starting point is 00:28:13 now we're getting into a little bit of the X's and O's. The bills need a one technique. And for those of you that don't know what that means, you know, I didn't know what that meant for a long time. Defensive tackle, there are different styles. One technique is your bigger guy that plays up the shoulder of the garter center and is more of a run stuffer. And, you know, the bills have Ed Oliver and Greg Rousseau and the list goes on. Now, Joey Bosa. They have guys that can rush the pasture.
Starting point is 00:28:44 Passer, say that 10 times fast. They do need a run stuffer, so that does play a little bit of a part because there are a lot of guys I would want them to draft, but it just doesn't make sense for the strap. Starting point is 00:29:22 If you've been thinking about starting a podcast, this is your sign. Start free at RSS.com. Strategy. Um, with that being said, I mean, look, who's the best? It's pretty obvious. It would be Mason Graham. Um, who are my favorites? well, I absolutely love
Starting point is 00:29:47 Alfred Collins I love T.J. Sanders. I love I can't tell you because I don't have the piece of paper. I think the printer fucked me on this. Hold for edit. Mark the time stamp just so I can
Starting point is 00:30:12 I thought I was missing a sheet of paper. Yeah. Fuck that printer, man. I did all that work. All right. Okay. Well, let's do this. All right.
Starting point is 00:30:49 We will pick up right here. So obviously the best defensive tackle in the draft, without a doubt from Michigan, Mason Graham. We all know that. But I think it's important to note, let me start that again. Best guy in the draft, Mason Graham, without a doubt. I mean, that would be my dream for the bills.
Starting point is 00:31:22 But is that likely going to happen? Probably not. I think Kenneth Grant from Michigan seems to be someone that is falling there. That would be fantastic. that would be someone who I think is realistic. I also think Alfred Collins, Tileak Williams, T.J. Sanders, Desmond Watson, Omar Norman Lott,
Starting point is 00:31:46 all of those guys, I talked about them before, I could completely see them realistically being there for the Bills. At wide receiver, for the Buffalo Bills, I would absolutely love Travis Hunter, Tett McMillan, Egbuka, Matthew Golden, right? We all want those guys.
Starting point is 00:32:08 And again, if the bills do take a big swing, I think it would be for a Matthew Golden. I think that's a player that they would take that swing for. Who do I realistically think the bills will be able to take, especially if they do it at 30? It would be Luther Burden. Jaden Higgins, who I'm in love with, and Trey Harris, who I'm in love with from Ole Miss,
Starting point is 00:32:33 Jaden Higgins from Iowa State, Trey Harris from Ole Miss, Luther Burden from Iowa. So those, yeah, those would be my guys for the bills. And if they did pick safety, I'd want even worry or any of the guys I talked about earlier. But yeah, that would be, those would be my picks for Dream
Starting point is 00:32:56 and then obviously for Hawaii, realistically want for them. Now, that makes me think about Luther Burden real quick. Speaking of Luther Burton, this dude is still in the first round grade. He's supposed to be one of the top wide receivers, but he's like a statue that's stuck while everyone around him keeps moving and the media keeps talking about him. He is so fascinating to me because you know, in, in 2023, he had an incredible year. And then in 24, he had a massive drop-off, which is why he's kind of been stagnant.
Starting point is 00:33:36 You got to take into consideration. He didn't have the best quarterback last year. So he does fascinate me. But I did keep him in the conversation for wide receivers that I think realistically the bills should and could take there. What we got, Danny? Moving on. Yeah, moving on. It looks like we got Kusballer O3 asks,
Starting point is 00:34:01 are there any teams or players that intrigue you? Oh, yeah. Well, Luther Bird, one of them. Wow, that's a great question, too. Well, I'll tell you teams that intrigue me in this draft. New England and New York, the Giants, intrigued me because they sit at three and four. and for me, when you look at the draft board,
Starting point is 00:34:30 they kind of dictate how the rest of the draft is going to go. I mean, obviously every pick in some sort of way dictates the draft, right? I mean, the board dictates the teams, you know? And then the teams dictate the rest, if that makes any sense. I don't think it does. But my point is a lot can happen, but I really think that the point of like where it could get crazy is New England and the Giants. Because, you know, New England needs, well, they need a lot.
Starting point is 00:35:04 But they have their quarterback, a great quarterback. They could take the best tackle. You know, if they want to protect their young franchise quarterback, now's the time they've got to tackle. And Will Campbell. I mean, it seems like the right answer. It seems like the obvious answer. They should draft Will Campbell.
Starting point is 00:35:25 But then I think. to myself, you're at number four. You are at four. You could get an Ashton Gentie. You could get a Tett McMillan, a Will Johnson, Ibuka, you get Tyler Warren.
Starting point is 00:35:41 I mean, the board is yours. So I'm just really curious, and especially because I've got a brand new coach there in New England with Vrable. And so it's fascinating. And as far as the Giants go, they're in a unique situation where Joe Shane and Brian Dable are on the hot seat, whether you know it or not. This is a make or make or break year for them. But they're in the situation where they still haven't even found their quarterback yet.
Starting point is 00:36:18 But to take, I mean, we're assuming Cam Ward's gone at one, right? you're going to take Shador Sanders at three. You're going to take Tyler Shuck, Will Howard, Jackson Dart. The value, it's a complete mismatch. So I've never seen a team that needs a quarterback so bad, but they're just in this situation where there's actually not a quarterback worth picking at three there,
Starting point is 00:36:48 but they need to do something. So that's why I think they might trade back in later and take a swing at a quarterback. back. Jackson, the rest is just teams that intrigue me are teams that, again, are in the top 10 that need a lot and could trade out. Jacksonville, Carolina, New Orleans, San Francisco has been quiet. That's a team that offloaded so many players.
Starting point is 00:37:10 I could see San Francisco trading out of 10 at the top 10 and stockpiling picks because they need a little bit of everything, especially offensive line. Pittsburgh's intriguing because there they are at 21 are they or 23 yeah 21 they have no second round picks so whatever they do so they don't really have much firepower
Starting point is 00:37:35 to trade up from 21 they certainly don't want to trade back I don't think so they're in this weird spot they intrigue me and then Miami's another team that's kind of quiet and they seem to be taking a downturn.
Starting point is 00:37:54 You know, they had that kind of the nucleus of their team where they might be a championship caliber team. And, you know, Tua's had 54 concussions. And, you know, Tyreek Hill wants to leave. And I believe Jalen Ramsey wants to get traded. It seems like a bit of a mess. So I don't know what the hell they're going to do. I don't know if they're going to trade out.
Starting point is 00:38:16 If they don't, no one's talking about them picking a QB. Maybe they do because I don't know. I don't know. But I would say to answer that question, those are the teams that intrigue me. As far as players go, you know, all of my sleeper picks intrigue me just to see how they turn out. You know, for example, we're atop at my head, a guy like Chavon Ravel, cornerback of East Carolina, or Josh Simmons, the tackle from Ohio State. Those are two guys that had pretty major injuries. So that intrigues me.
Starting point is 00:38:46 How does that pan out? I'm trying to think who else. Yeah, and then the rest would kind of just be the teams that. Oh, Luther Burden was the other guy. And we talked about that. So moving on on this Good News York NFL draft special. Let's hit the chat some more. What else we got, buddy?
Starting point is 00:39:11 Yeah, so it looks like Steve Holt 87 asks, what's your thoughts on the QB class this year? Oh, man. Well, my first thought is the obvious, which is there's one clear-cut guy who's NFL ready and is probably going to be drafted number one overall, and that's Cam Ward out of Miami. With that being said, I talked about earlier how I'm in love with Jalen Milro. I think he is a quarterback that is insanely talented, the most athletic player in the entire draft. But he makes a lot of mistakes in his decision making. And, you know, the good news is he has all the intangibles.
Starting point is 00:39:57 If you listen to him speak, the guy's got it, right? And if you watch his tape, you're like, this guy blows me away. But then you see the mistakes, the errors. But see, to me, that stuff can be corrected. You know, when Josh Allen was coming out, my boy, he was inaccurate. You know, he played for a smaller. school. He had all these knocks on him. His footwork, you know, he leaves the pocket too early. Whatever the scouting report said. The thing about Jalen Milrow is he has the potential to be a Lamar
Starting point is 00:40:30 Jackson, a top-tier quarterback. But the only way I think that's going to happen is if he goes to the absolute right situation, which is never a give-me, right? He's got to go to a team that doesn't need him right away. He's got to go to a team where he can sit and learn. most of all, he's got to go to a team with the right coaching. And that's in the off-season and during the season. That can hone in the things he's good at and who can undo the things he's not good at. And I think of, for him, I think of teams like, you know, I think of teams like the Pittsburgh Steelers. I think of teams like the Giants.
Starting point is 00:41:11 I think of teams like the Saints, the Rams. These are all places that need quarterbacks that he could go. But which one has the right coaching? Who knows? Some other thoughts about the QB class. I said earlier, Tyler Shuck. Tyler Shuck from Louisville. Great quarterback.
Starting point is 00:41:31 Not the flashiest. But my God, he's big. He's strong. He can run, surprisingly. But he can stay in the pocket and throw the ball where it needs to go as well. And Tyler Shuck, to me, is a guy who is ready to go now. It's almost the opposite of what I just said about Jalen Milro.
Starting point is 00:41:55 For Tyler Shuck, the guy is 25 years old. He's got three college degrees because he transferred around. He's played so many college games. And one of the most important things for a quarterback coming into the NFL, a young quarterback, is experience. And if you don't believe me, look at guys like Anthony Richardson, right, who barely played any college ball. And you can see it on the field.
Starting point is 00:42:21 So I think Shuck is a guy that has major potential to be an NFL starter. But he's got to go somewhere where they can just throw him out there and go, all right, let's see what you got. Because he's the most ready because of all that experience and his age. But also because of his age, you want to get him out there because if he sits for three or four years, he's coming in at 28, 29 years old, which is still fine and still, you know, fairly young, but you want to see what he's got now. And then, as far as the QB class, what else are my thoughts?
Starting point is 00:42:51 You know, I had this slot the other day, which is, why is nobody talking about the Jets or the Cardinals taking a QB? I feel like the Kyler Murray phase is starting to run its course. Now, I think I would give him another year at least, and let's get him some other weapons besides Marvin Harrison and the tight end who I'm blanking out on. But I really think, you know, the Jets signed Justin Fields. But they only, they signed him for a two-year, $40 million a year, which, yeah, look, to us, that's insane. But in the QB market, that's not a lot of an investment.
Starting point is 00:43:34 So let's be honest. I mean, does Justin, do Justin Fields have the ability? to be a franchise quarterback. I mean, from what we've seen, I think there's a chance. It could still pan out in the right situation. I wouldn't consider the Jets the right situation, though. So I look at him as more of a bridge quarterback.
Starting point is 00:43:56 And because of that, who's to say they don't take Sanders or they don't take DART or, you know, any of the quarterbacks that are going to be available at that. Where are they at number nine? No, they're at seven. You know, value is obviously a thing. thing, which brings me to why I think the Cardinals could draft a QB because actually makes
Starting point is 00:44:18 more sense for the Cardinals at 16 to draft a dart, a Shedore Sanders, a Tyler Shuck, or a, again, any of the quarterbacks besides Cam Ward. Because I feel like that's kind of where the value is, especially for Shadur Sanders. And you've got Kyler Murray, who doesn't seem to be working out. So I would say just watch out for that. And as far as Sanders, I could do an entire segment or episode on Sanders, but you know, you did ask me about the QB class. I think Sanders goes to either the Browns, the Giants, the Raiders, the Saints, Pittsburgh, or the Rams.
Starting point is 00:45:02 I know what you're thinking. Mike, you just picked the entire fucking NFL. No, I picked six. and I have some thoughts. First of all, let's go through that list. So I think Shador Sanders could go to Cleveland. But here's the thing. Who's to say Cleveland, the Titans, or the New York Giants,
Starting point is 00:45:25 grab Hunter, or they grab Abdul Carter, or they grab Henry? And then they trade right back into the top 10. to grab Shador Sanders. Especially if someone, like, who's to say, the Giants don't take Hunter,
Starting point is 00:45:47 trade back in, and then grab Sanders. His college quarterback, I mean, and for Sanders, his college-wide receiver, that would be insane. But Sanders to Cleveland,
Starting point is 00:45:57 the only way I see that happening is if they were to trade back in. I don't, I could see them drafting him at number two because it's the Browns. But value-wise, it's not it. I think you got to go later for that. Now, if the, and the Giants, same deal.
Starting point is 00:46:17 I don't think Cam Ward's going to be there. I think he's going to be taking it at number one. I don't think Shador Sanders is going to work at three. I don't see the value there. But trading back in, if you have the capital, that's where it's at. Because in the top five, you've got generational talent in Abdul Carter, Travis Hunter. I would even, maybe even a Will Campbell.
Starting point is 00:46:37 Ashton Genty. So these are guys that I would take ahead of any of the QBs there. So that's Cleveland and that's the Giants as far as Sanders. So let's talk about the Raiders taking Shador Sanders. Now for a while, that was kind of a hot thing. That was like, you know what? I could see that happening. You know, Pete Carroll's there.
Starting point is 00:47:04 Who knows how to handle star players. He's one of the best coaches of all time, in my opinion. They've got a new ownership, new GM. But then they went and they signed. They locked up Gino Smith for quite a pretty good amount of money and for a decent contract. So I know what you're thinking, which is what I said earlier. Well, then why can't, why wouldn't they draft Sanders to play behind Gino kind of similar traits in some ways? And yeah, that does sound fine.
Starting point is 00:47:36 Except for the fact, wouldn't the Raiders in that situation, wouldn't they be doing exactly what Atlanta did last year? When Atlanta locked up Kurt Cousins for like $100 million, and then a month later in the draft, drafted Michael Pennix Jr. at 8, it would, I mean, obviously they haven't paid Gino Smith the amount of money that the Falcons paid cousins, but it's kind of that same scenario. So I don't see that happening.
Starting point is 00:48:04 New Orleans, I'm going on the conspiracy theory that New Orleans is going to tank for Manning because obviously Arch Manning grandson of Archie Manning who played for the Saints and, you know, son of, I think Eli, he's a son of one of the Mannings, nephew of one of the other Manning's.
Starting point is 00:48:26 He's got the pedigree, it's going to happen, he's going to be an NFL quarterback, and he's going to be a damn good NFL quarterback. And wouldn't the Saints want him? him as their quarterback, the grandson of one of their pillars of their franchise, Archie Manning. So I don't know. I mean, that's not the reason I think Shador Sanders could go there, especially with Derrick R.Kar being hurt. But again, at number nine, I don't think Shadur Sanders, that's the value there.
Starting point is 00:48:56 I don't see him being a number, being taken at nine. He's more of in the teens or 20s for me. But if that's your guy and you love him, take him. I'm going to stick with. They don't take him and they stick with Carr and they go for Manning next year. I don't know about tanking because I don't believe anyone tanks in the NFL because people's jobs are on the line. Pittsburgh. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:49:18 Pittsburgh doesn't have any second round picks. I don't know how they would trade back in to get a quarterback. So they better hope Sanders is there at 21 because who the hell do they have right now? They just got, what's his name? I can't even think of his name. But from Seattle, they've got a star wide receiver that they brought in. They've got George Pickens, another young star wide receiver. Why the hell do they have Mason Rudolph?
Starting point is 00:49:53 They're going to need a quarterback. That goes without saying. And it's pretty obvious that they're going to. But there is no guarantee that Shador Sanders. is going to be there at 21. So maybe they're going to go for one of the other guys. But someone I got my eye on for Sanders. Sanders could be there at 21.
Starting point is 00:50:15 As far as my last team that I think Sanders could go to the L.A. Rams, they're in a tough situation because, man, I never can figure them out. Sometimes they get on the field and they look like they can win the Super Bowl. And then the next week they look like they need to draft, to do a complete rebuild. But they've got one of the best coaches in the NFL. I think they're drafting more for now than the future. So I don't know if at 26 is it?
Starting point is 00:50:40 Yeah, at 26 if they want to go and take a quarterback. I think taking one later in the draft is a smart move. But who knows? First of all, if Sanders is going to even be there at 26. But if he is, I mean, maybe that would be a great spot to grab him. And, you know, I'll say one more thing about, Sanders and that is that Sanders one thing I've noticed is that he he had a horrendous O line right and we're watching all this film on Sanders and we're saying well he's not a top tier you know he's kind of
Starting point is 00:51:22 that second year but he's got the potential to be top tier and well I think honestly his tape helps him more than we think because in every piece of footage, it seems like he's running for his life. Put him on a team with a good O-line and let's see what happens. So that's something to take into consideration as well. Man, we got anything
Starting point is 00:51:42 else? Yeah, so we got one more Earl Meister in chat was asking do you got any hot takes or scenarios? Hot takes or scenarios. You know what? Let me refer to my Twitter.
Starting point is 00:52:01 I do this thing on Twitter at Mike B-T-V-V-E-V-E, Mike B, and then T-E-E-V-E-E, on all my social media. But on Twitter, I like to do this thing called What If? I'll go, and it's regarding the draft. I'll say, what if?
Starting point is 00:52:15 What if? And it's more of like a crazy thought, but what if? So I will refer to my Twitter to answer that question, Earl Meister. All right, let's see. This is from a while ago. So, I mean, my opinion is probably changed,
Starting point is 00:52:29 but let's just do it. What did I say? What if? What if? The Saints trade up from number nine to number three where the giants are and grab Sanders. Then the Giants plan to take Milro at number nine, but the Steelers trade up to number eight with Carolina and take Milro instead. That's a pretty niche. What if I did there?
Starting point is 00:52:54 Here's another hot take. What if? What if the Browns take Henry or Carter and then trade? back in for Sanders at, I don't know, at number eight with Carolina. I talked about that. And what if? What if the Browns and Giants take Henry or Carter or vice versa at two and three? And then one or both trade back in for Sanders, Mill Road or Howard.
Starting point is 00:53:20 Mill Row or Howard, which I kind of talked about that earlier. And then last but not least, another hot take I've thought about. I don't know if it's a hot take, but just kind of like what it, like, imagine this. What if the Browns took Abdul Carter? Imagine having to game plan for Miles Garrett and Abdul Carter. And maybe if you remember, Miles Garrett was, I'm leaving Cleveland, thank you. You've been the best, but I must move on and go where I can win a Super Bowl. Here's $40 million.
Starting point is 00:53:58 Okay, I'll stay. I remember in the post interview after he, you know, Miles Garrett decided he was going to stay in Cleveland. Part of the reason they alluded that part of the reason that he stayed is because he knows who the quarterback's going to be. And he alluded that it might be a young quarterback, okay? But I also think they might have alluded to the fact that they might have said, hey, we're going to get Abdul Carter, okay?
Starting point is 00:54:27 and he's going to be opposite of you and nobody is going to be able to throw a pass in the NFL with you two on each side and then we're going to get a quarterback later and a young one. I could see that happening. The other one, which is like, imagine this. Imagine if the New York Giants do draft Travis Hunter,
Starting point is 00:54:49 who, by the way, I do have them taking Travis Hunter. Dude. Actually, no, I have them taking Abdul Carter. My first draft, I had them taking Travis Hunter. Just imagine game planning for the Giants offense when you have Malik Neighbors, who, by the way, I think is the third best quarterback in the NFL. That's right, I said it. There's a hot take.
Starting point is 00:55:10 You have Malik Neighbors and Travis Hunter. Good luck. So those are just some hot takes and what ifs to consider. And I think we're good. So thank you for joining me. this long, Good News York, NFL draft special. I am Mike Brindisi, and we will be back tomorrow here on Good News York with my co-host. Of course, the great Matt Mazer.
Starting point is 00:55:42 Hit me up on social media. Again, I'm on social media across the board at Mike B-T-V. I'll put it up on the screen. M-I-K-E-B-T-E-E-E-E at Mike B-T-V-E. Any questions if you want to insult me for all of my. takes, whatever you got bringing on me. I love talking NFL football, especially the draft. I will be having a party at my house for the draft.
Starting point is 00:56:05 You're all invited. But this has been a great episode of Good News York. I had a lot of fun. And be good and go bills.
