Alright, so this afternoon we're going to talk about my Etsy store.
Mix it up a little bit. Maybe I'll do a system too, I haven't quite figured it out.
I've been working on my PS2. The first model I'm going to work on is the 9000 model.
That being the best model, and then we'll go on to all the other models.
I have about 50 other PS2 Slims, that is.
The first one I'm going to do
is we're going to talk about etsy so etsy i have an etsy store i closed a little while ago
i don't know a month or so ago decided to reopen it i wanted i want to open a shopify store
but i can't seem to get things to link to it uh it's all about integrating from eBay over to Shopify
or over to Etsy so my Etsy was pretty much already set up I just got a I'm
working on ways to improve my listings and then I'm going to I'm going to add
more stuff to Etsy it's a fun place I sold a bunch of stuff there.
So, I just turned it back on today.
So, my Etsy store is now open again.
Yay.
So, what I'm doing now is a way to change my categories to a little bit better categories than I had.
So, I'm doing that for a little while.
I had like a hundred of them.
It doesn't let me do them all at once.
That would make my life a lot easier. So, right now my etsy store is very very small um but i will grow it because i was doing
pretty good and i actually have pretty good feedback on there i sold lots of stuff on etsy
i just kind of shut it down for a while because i i was distracted by it a little bit but now we're going to go back
to it because i was going to go right on to etsy but i'm not etsy on to um shopify but it's a lot
of things i gotta do to get it up i thought i had it ready to go but still not yet and I don't want to pay the X amount of money per month if it's not going to even be as eBay store just a little bit smaller
because technically for Etsy you're supposed to have anything that's 20 years or older
so you technically shouldn't have like Nintendo Switch stuff on there but everybody does though
however so I'm going to try to integrate some more stuff over to this and significantly what I'm
doing is working on categories there's a way I have all these before they didn't
have a parts category when I first started doing Etsy but they do now so
all my listings are gonna get changed over to the parts and modification of
electronics to video games parts and modification I wasn't there before
therefore I wasn't selling much so maybe this will spark a little new life into
my low sales just around it just in general I just don't have time so I'm
gonna spend some time Etsy I'm gonna to redo it add a bunch of new stuff to it
so Etsy is a great place I use I've been using it to find anything homemade uh gaming
you know like mod stuff and all kinds of stuff all my ever drives and all those kinds of things
back of Sarah I've gotten through etsy all right so yeah i'm going to continue to work on my etsy store i'm going to start i'm going to
rebuild it uh i only have a few listings but i'll get more on so the system we're going to talk
about for a little while is the sega We'll actually do like the Sega Genesis.
So you got the Sega Genesis,
the 1601,
and you have two of those.
Actually, 1601 actually has three different kinds of motherboards.
One's the one that has the high-definition graphics
on the top cover,
and then the other ones that do not say that.
But of those, the ones that do not say that but of those the ones that do not say high
definition graphics there's a va7 board which is uh the power button is on the back and then
there's a detachable one where it's not and then you go to the 1631 which is a smaller one
I call them the dreaded 1631s
because they usually always have some sort of
a sound and
or video issue
so in those there's
a few different board models
versions
VA0
VA1
there's a VA2 the very dreaded VA-1.8, there's also a VA-2.3, and then the
ones you want are either a VA-3 or a VA-4.
Those are the ones you would be the ones that you want to find.
Those are like the last board models.
And those are harder to find.
But those are the better ones.
And actually the inner case is
a little bit different than the metal.
Because it's smaller. It's a smaller motherboard.
Like anything else, as the motherboards
progress
and the tech gets better,
the boards get smaller.
So, those are, then you
need to have either
a Sega Genesis, oh, then there's a
Sega Genesis 3.
So, that's that little mini.
Just like the mini top loader for
the NES, or the
mini Super Nintendo
top loader.
This one is.
Sega Genesis 3.
And there's two different kinds of motherboards.
In those.
And I was told that one you can play Sega Master Games on it.
Not sure if it needs a mod to do it or not.
But that's what I was told.
I sell.
I sell the ones that.
Of the other motherboard
but I still sold one
I have a couple of those
around
and then from there
it goes to
you can use a
Sega Genesis 1601
or Sega Genesis
1631 for the Sega CD. The original one is the 4201 and the 4201A.
So there's two different styles of motherboard inside of the Sega Genesis And the Saturn.
There's also the double stack Sega CD.
Which I think is 16.
I can't remember what the exact number.
I have one of.
Oh no I had one of those.
I don't have that one anymore.
I do have some of the.
14.
The 4201s and the 4201A.
And then from there, there's lots of other Sega real fun stuff.
Sega Master.
Sega Power Base.
Oh, there's the 32x Sega.
So with the Sega, everything's got to be...
Something's got to be added to something else in order to use it.
So like the 32 times.
And then I have a Sega Master 2.
A Euro one.
With a 220 volt.
And I believe it's PAL.
It has Alex the Kid as a game already on it.
So that's pretty cool.
And then there was. was you got the Sega
Game Gear. I got a bunch
of those you get to do
some more stuff with.
And then there was the
there's a few other Segas
after that that are really
popular. Let's bring my buddy in here.
Let's see what we can find about Segas for a little while.
Hold on a second here. Let's bring my buddy in here. Let's see what we can find about Sega for a little while. Hold on a second here.
Let's get some
Sega
talk to me.
We'll just do 1601s
for a little while.
Alright.
Hello.
Hey Tom. How's it going?
What are you up to today?
We're going to talk Sega Genesis
Awesome
The Sega Genesis is a classic
What aspect of the Genesis
Are you interested in discussing?
Games, hardware
Or maybe some of those cool accessories
Like the power base converter
Which is the original? The high def or the other two? Games, hardware, or maybe some of those cool accessories like the power base converter.
Which is the original, the high def or the other two?
The original Sega Genesis model is often referred to as the Model 1.
It has a distinctive sleek black design with a circular high definition graphics label around the cartridge slot.
This label is a prominent feature of the early Model One versions, but later versions of the Model One might not have this label. Did you have a specific
question about the Genesis? So the high definition has an extra port in the back. What is that for?
The extra port on the back of the original Sega Genesis Model 1 is an AUX or EXT port.
This port was originally intended for add-ons and accessories, such as the Sega CD and the unreleased Sega Genesis modem.
However, it was not widely used, and later versions of the Genesis removed this port. It's a neat feature that hints at the
ambitious plans Sega had for expanding the Genesis's capabilities. Oh so that port wasn't a video output?
That's right. The AUX or EXT port on the Sega Genesis Model 1 wasn't a video output. The main video output on the Genesis was through the AV port,
which could connect to your TV using an RF adapter or AV cables for better quality.
The EXT port was meant for add-ons and accessories,
but it didn't end up being used for video output. And then the other two, there's a VA7 board for the Sega Genesis, and then the other.
The Sega Genesis had several revisions over its lifespan, with different motherboard versions.
The VA7 is one of the later motherboard revisions of the Model 1 Genesis.
This revision is known for having some cost reduction measures, like integrating more functions into a single chip, which can affect the audio and video quality compared to earlier revisions. As for the other board versions, there are quite a few, but another notable one is the VA-3,
which is considered to have better audio and video quality than the VA-7.
Each revision aimed to reduce manufacturing costs or improve reliability,
but they often resulted in slight differences in performance or compatibility with certain accessories.
Is there a specific aspect of the Genesis you're curious about? Then the next model is the 1631.
The 1631 is a reference to the Sega Genesis Model 2, which was released after the original
Model 1. The Model 2 is smaller and more streamlined
with a few design changes. It doesn't have the high definition graphics label around the cartridge
slot and it lacks the headphone jack and volume slider that were present on the Model 1. The AV
output was also improved for better picture quality.
Do you have any specific questions about the Genesis Model 2?
Yeah, the dreaded VA 1.8 was the worst board model?
Yes, the VA 1.8 revision of the Sega Genesis Model 2 is often considered one of the worst in terms of audio quality.
This version used a highly integrated chip to handle various functions, including sound,
which led to poor audio compared to earlier models. The VA 1.8 also had some cost-cutting
measures that affected overall performance.
Despite these issues, the Model 2 remains popular among retro gamers for its extensive library of games.
Do you have any other questions about the Genesis?
So the Model 2 versions VA3 or VA4 being the best boards? The last boards? Yes, the VA 3 and VA 4 revisions of the Sega Genesis Model 2 are generally regarded as better than the VA 1.8, especially in terms of audio
quality. The VA 3 and VA 4 revisions retained more of the original hardware features, resulting in a more authentic Genesis experience.
While they might not match the very first Model 1 in every aspect,
they're solid options for those looking for a Model 2 Genesis with good performance.
Do you have a favorite Genesis model?
There was also a VA1, a VA0,, VA2, and a VA2.3.
Yes, the Sega Genesis Model 2 had various motherboard revisions, including VA0, VA1,
VA2.3, along with the VA3 and VA4 we mentioned earlier. Here's a brief overview.
VA0 and VA1. Early revisions of the Model 2, known for having better video quality than later
revisions, but the audio quality varied depending on the specific unit. VA2, another early revision with decent performance,
generally considered to have better audio than the later VA1.8. A later revision that still
maintained decent quality, though it started to incorporate more cost-cutting measures.
Each revision has its own characteristics,
and some people prefer certain ones
for specific reasons,
like audio or video quality.
It really depends on what you're looking for
in a Sega Genesis experience.
So the next thing would be the Sega Genesis 3,
the Mini.
The Sega Genesis 3 and the Sega Genesis mini are two different versions.
The Genesis 3, released by Majesco in 1998, is a smaller, cost-reduced version of the original console. only plays Genesis cartridges and lacks some features, like the expansion port and headphone
jack, making it less compatible with certain accessories and add-ons.
The Sega Genesis Mini, released in 2019, is a modern miniaturized version of the original
console. It comes preloaded with a curated selection of classic games and features modern amenities like HDMI output for easy connection to contemporary TVs.
The Genesis Mini is praised for its faithful emulation and high-quality game selection,
making it a favorite among retro gaming enthusiasts.
Are you thinking about diving into one of these?
What's better for the Sega CD, the 1401 and then the 1401A? Model 1 or Model 2?
Ah, got it. Comparing the Sega CD Model 1 and Model 2, both have their pros and cons. Model 1, it has a front-loading disc tray
and a more robust, premium feel. It connects to the Genesis Model 1 with a large base plate,
creating a unified look. However, it's known to be less reliable due to its more complex mechanical parts.
Model 2, this version features a top-loading disc tray,
which is generally considered more reliable.
It's designed to sit next to the Genesis console,
making it compatible with both the Model 1 and Model 2 Genesis,
although it was made to match the Model 2's design aesthetic.
Overall, the Model 2's Sega CD is preferred by many for its improved reliability and simpler design.
Are you thinking about adding one to your collection?
Oh, I have a few, and then there's two different motherboards inside those.
Sega CD 1401 and 1401A. That's great! Regarding the Sega CD model 2, the 1401 and 1401A motherboard revisions
do have some differences. The 1401A is a later revision that aimed to reduce manufacturing costs and improve reliability.
While both revisions should offer a similar gaming experience,
the 1401A might have slight improvements in terms of component longevity and stability.
Have you noticed any differences between your units?
Then there was the Sega 32x. Have you noticed any differences between your units?
Then there was the Sega 32X.
Yes, the Sega 32X.
It was an add-on for the Genesis that aimed to upgrade the console to 32-bit graphics, offering a more powerful gaming experience. The 32X plugged into the cartridge slot of the Genesis and had
its own library of games. While it promised a lot, the 32X faced several challenges, including a
limited game library, a complicated setup process, and timing issues with the upcoming Sega Saturn. Despite these obstacles, the 32X has a niche following and some unique games.
Have you tried any 32X games?
It is difficult to set up. You need that extra jumper cable.
Exactly. The setup for the Sega 32X can be quite tricky. You need a spacer to attach it securely
to the Genesis, and an additional jumper cable to connect the 32X to the Genesis for proper video
output. Plus, you need to plug in separate power supplies for both the Genesis and the 32X, which adds to the complexity.
Despite these hurdles, for those who managed to set it up, the 32X offers a unique piece
of gaming history.
Are you planning to give it a try with your setup?
The Sega Game Gear was basically in that same era, the early Sega.
That's right.
The Sega Game Gear was part of Sega's early 90s lineup.
It was a handheld console designed to compete with the Nintendo Game Boy.
The Game Gear had a full-color backlit screen,
which was a big selling point over the Game Boy's monochrome display.
However, the Game Gear was also known for its high battery consumption,
requiring six AA batteries for a relatively short playtime.
Despite this, the Game Gear had a solid library of games and remains a beloved piece of Sega's history.
Do you have any memories?
There is an EverDrive for the Game Gear.
Yes, there is an EverDrive for the Game Gear.
It's a flash cartridge that allows you to load multiple Game Gear ROMs
onto a single cartridge using an SD card.
This makes it easy to play a wide range of games without having to carry around
multiple cartridges. The EverDrive is a great way to explore the Game Gear's library,
including some hard-to-find titles. Have you tried using an EverDrive with your Game Gear?
I do have one. And what are the mods for the Game Gear?
Nice! There are a few popular mods for the Game Gear that enhance its performance and usability.
Screen Mod
Replacing the original screen with a modern LCD or LED screen significantly improves the display,
offering brighter, clearer visuals and better
battery life. 2. Capacitor Replacement. The Game Gear is notorious for its aging capacitors,
which can lead to issues like dim screens or no sound. Replacing these capacitors can breathe new life into the handheld.
3. VGA or TV Out Mod This mod adds the ability to output the Game Gear's display to a larger screen, like a TV or monitor, providing a different way to enjoy games.
4. Pro Sound Mod
This improves the audio output quality, making the sound clearer and
louder. 5. LED Power Indicator. Adding an LED light to indicate when the device is powered on,
which can be helpful since the original Game Gear doesn't have one. These mods can really
enhance your Game gear experience have you
thought about modding yours i have a bunch of them i haven't done anything but yeah i would i would
think about it it sounds like you have a great collection of game gears to experiment with
modding can definitely breathe new life into them, especially with the screen and capacitor upgrades.
If you decide to dive into modding, it could be a fun project to document for your YouTube channel.
Let me know if you need any tips or ideas when you start exploring those mods.
Great, thank you.
Alright, so that was a fun thing.
I did it early.
There's lots more Sega stuff, but we'll just end it on that note.
I'll do the newer stuff later.
So that was my little thing.
I'm working on my Etsy still as I'm doing this.
And, yeah, so we'll work on next.
The other systems that come after that for the Sega.
They're all fun.
Alright, I'll talk to you guys later.
Alright, bye.
