Starting point is 00:00:00 Good morning everyone. It is a little bit after 5 a.m. on the 10th of January 2025. Just cruising along here. So now we're all in the hopes of plugging away, getting these months out of here so we can get to spring, right? January, February is just long and cold. So yesterday I did a lot of other stuff. I worked on trading cards yesterday. That was fun. I had Pokemon, the Yo-Gai Ho ones. And then I had like a random lot, so I played around with those with some videos.
Starting point is 00:00:42 And then I decided I wanted to work on my computers my compact portable threes really didn't get anywhere but i'm still testing stuff i have two of them uh so that's pretty cool i did a bunch of i did that for a while so i had a pretty cool day yesterday it was a national holiday national day of mourning for Jimmy Carter they had the funeral on I watched it for a little bit just amazing to see all the presidents together
Starting point is 00:01:13 it's not often you see that so that was pretty cool I thought that was pretty interesting so let's see what the day is going to bring today. So now I've got a few orders to. Because yesterday there was no post office. Because it was a federal holiday.
Starting point is 00:01:35 Because it was a day of mourning. So I did a little bit more other stuff. Than normal. I was going to play a game for a little while but I never got to it. I was having fun with the my Compact Portal 3.
Starting point is 00:01:58 Alright, so let's look at the news. I'm starting to show a lot of these humanoid robot companions that are look pretty funny. I'm sure someday I will have a human one of those.
Starting point is 00:02:15 But I need it more for it to help me with programming and stuff like that. I don't need it to clean and do all that. I'm looking need to clean and do all that. I'm looking for an AI workbench. That can remove chips for me. And diagnose board problems. That's the kind of board I'm looking for.
Starting point is 00:02:43 Sure will be really expensive though. Hopefully in my lifetime I'll have something like that. Well, they've already started a show. It's been an AI workbench. That's what I'm looking for. Electronics. You can get a soldering workbench kind of thing. But I want to do it at the next level.
Starting point is 00:03:02 Like with some arms on it from AI. So. Let's see what else. The news. Not so good there on the west coast can I try not to talk about that kind of stuff it's pretty bad all right so some things so let's go on to my routine here and see we got first I got my Etsy nothing today I've had two orders on Etsy and let's see I like Etsy
Starting point is 00:03:53 it used to be really kind of good then it got really slow so I kind of closed the shop for a while and then I reopened it not much luck so far alright so we'll go right to youtube this morning so i put some fun videos up yesterday uh different stuff that i was doing try to mix it up as much as i can go from one thing oh and i was doing some more categories too um so we're at 10,829
Starting point is 00:04:28 subscribers and I only have $39.02 revenue hours have gone about the same nothing's really changed except I go up subscribers here and there but then i have
Starting point is 00:04:47 from promoting i just promoted my last listing for just like 10 bucks i'll throw 10 for promotion just to see if i can uh average duration is 37 37 seconds uh views 3, so I get the views. Some shorts. I did a couple of three-minute shorts. They seemed to be not popular at all, so I went back to just the 60 second shorts. I don't see any comments.
Starting point is 00:05:21 Let's look at my RSS feed this morning. So I ran out of systems yesterday I think I've done all the systems that I can think of that I have had I mean there's other ones I could probably learn about that I've never had so we could do that and then I looked at starting with one game
Starting point is 00:05:43 and see how a game is made. Of course I would pick Zelda, like an original Zelda game for Nintendo. And then find out how it's made, code-wise. So I kind of had Zippy run one down for me. It seemed pretty interesting. It might be something I can do. Again, I'm not going to pick every single game. But maybe we'll pick some fun ones that really come out initially see how
Starting point is 00:06:10 the code goes even gave me a little bit of coding an assembly language which is fantastic no way I would ever know any of that unless is it be just kind of put it out there and I don't think it was a quote for the whole game, but it gave me like a little rundown. So we'll do some of that for a little bit and then come up with some other gaming ideas that I can do as a 20-minute podcast. So let's...
Starting point is 00:06:42 Again, I may go look for those systems that I always wanted to get, but couldn't, and then we'll talk about them, even though I never had one, there's a few that I know, not many though, that I can think of that I have not had, oh, oh, I also, I do, I did have the, the Sega Mark III, so so maybe we talk about that today I'm going through that there's mark 1 mark 2 and there's mark 3 those are early systems 8-bit I believe you want to have a whole keyboard and a whole setup for it so we'll go there first I know I didn't do that. Alright, so let's go to
Starting point is 00:07:25 see. So that's that. Let's see what else we got here going on this morning. Oh, go to eBay. Let's see where my day goes today. Let's see if we got anything going on here. Threw a couple new things up. I'm going to do more. No, just a couple of things. All right, let's check my messages.
Starting point is 00:07:49 See what we got going on here. I have one message. If you get a disk drive insert for me, I said if you get a disk drive insert for me, it should be type 435. I'm asking this guy about the Compact 3. He got back to me. I was having trouble getting it set up. It should be type four three.
Starting point is 00:08:26 First do I type four three in the first option. Then zero in the second, trying to figure out how to do that, having trouble finding the drive later in DOS. I'll show him. Okay, I'll send him the video. Yeah. So at least he replied back to me, so that's pretty cool. So I have three orders.
Starting point is 00:09:31 Let's see what we got going on here. A couple of things. Let's see. A few bucks. I have some stuff for Sega Dreamcast. One, two. Oh, and I have one of those. Alright.
Starting point is 00:10:01 So three different little orders here. So all day yesterday well not at the end of the day yesterday I was working on trying to figure out my compact portable 3. So I have two disk drives to test.
Starting point is 00:10:19 And then I have the insert which is a an upgrade insert. Therefore, instead of a hard drive, it comes with a compact flash card, like an SD reader card thing, so that I can put programs in manually from the internet. But first I want to test all the stuff that I had. And I have a whole other screen yet.
Starting point is 00:10:51 I'm deciding what if I want to pull the board off the one I have that fully works and then put it over to the other one. I haven't quite decided that. Probably going to do that. It's just a lot of work well actually not it's not all this though all those screws are pretty much
Starting point is 00:11:10 off so we may switch it over to the other side to the other one as a project and then I could sell this screen but the keyboard is a problem it is it's some sort of a cable that I don't know how to how it comes off so that's another maybe i don't do it so we haven't decided on that one yet but we worked on it for a while yesterday i pulled all the parts up somewhere i have another little video card for it uh it's really cool i was looking when these came out these compact portable threes they were like four thousand dollars when they came out and there's actually an addition thing you can put on the back to uh to make it even better and there is a couple on ebay but they're really expensive so but mine has some memory extra and but again i'm not really
Starting point is 00:11:59 using it for anything i just use it to turn it on and say that it works but it is always fun upgrading stuff and it's fun to modernize where you can at least that's what i like to do before and then maybe find some game to play on it and then that's really it it's like you're not really gonna use it to i'm not gonna sit and uh use some sort of software on it. I mean, I'm sure I could. And then you either just keep it as something to collect or you resell it. And for me, it most likely would be a resell. Although I
Starting point is 00:12:35 really want to keep one of these. Because these are harder to find. Vintage computing is harder to find in vintage gaming unless it's a really rare vintage gaming and it's kind of like vintage computing is very expensive it could be in thousands to try to find it of course I couldn't afford anything like that if you want a box I can do when you're getting up to there I can't do it so I haven't quite decided where we're gonna go with that yet but right now it's all
Starting point is 00:13:10 taking space in my desktop here so I'm going to move some stuff around and then Atari 400s today. And then I have an Atari 800. And then I also have some floppy disk drives to test. Including some cassettes players for the Atari. I don't think I have any cassettes.
Starting point is 00:13:46 Software. I have to think I have any cassettes. Software. I have to find out what kind of software. Was running on Atari. For cassettes back then. Same with a floppy. I need some sort of a tester. Is what I need. So I don't want to trade everything away.
Starting point is 00:14:02 Until I test all those. All those. So I don't want to trade everything away until I test all those, all those, uh, and then I'll probably keep one of those for myself. Distort, okay, I can do a Distort. Alright, so, so I have three orders and a message. Four. I'm going to send that guy a link in a minute. Actually, it's probably more like six.
Starting point is 00:14:34 So pretty easy morning so far, it looks like. We're going to be a little bit warmer. It's been so cold the last couple days. Below with the windshield and barely windy and really really cold again we're in the deep dark winter right now this is it we're in it although we haven't had any really snow storms here in rhode island at all nothing major but sure we'll get something the last three or four years here in Rhode Island. We haven't really had any really big blizzards But we're well overdue
Starting point is 00:15:21 So it's a little bit warmer so I'm gonna try to get I just get it gotta get some stuff down be a little bit warmer, so I'm gonna try to get, I gotta get some stuff done outside a little bit. And then finish my orders today. So that's pretty much it for now. Let's see what else is going on there. So my RSS feed, that was just that there. I've had, I had three downloads overnight. I'm at 261 downloads of all time, which is it's only a few everything I do is just enough to to be fun and it's pretty cool I keep it going though we'll do it every day especially
Starting point is 00:15:58 morning in the morning and we'll find things to do for the afternoon um again it's something gets obviously has to be gaming related and or it can be computer related i try to make sure something of a gaming uh we talk about something gaming and i think i'm gonna like i said pick some other systems i think i haven't done yet and then i had zippy do a little rundown on a Zelda game. It would be like the first Nintendo. So we can do like Zelda and maybe Mario, Castlevania. Just like the original ones. The first ones that came out and just kind of see how they are put together.
Starting point is 00:16:39 So that would be kind of cool. And then we can go on to try some other games. Different systems. Maybe some Sega. A few different. We'll hit a couple Sega games. PlayStation. We'll go to PlayStation.
Starting point is 00:16:53 We'll see how Resident Evil was made. Or at least get a little bit of an idea. Kind of. So that's where I'm going to go. Next. And then from there I'll decide what I can do as another idea for gaming. All right. So we have a couple orders. And then that one.
Starting point is 00:17:18 So this one message is my contact here to figure out how to do this. So I'm going to give this guy a link of my thing here I'm gonna send this guy a link and ask him to help me out here how many views did I get from my portable I put a few dollars in that see if I put even if I put ten bucks as a promotion, my views go from $10 or $20 to $333. So that's pretty cool. And then the last month, at the end of the month, it was like $120 I spent. But unfortunately, I've only made $39. So well in the negative but I think hopefully
Starting point is 00:18:08 long term if I keep plugging away at it something will catch I think or maybe not it'll just be something I do for fun all the time so I'm going to do a link for that I'm going to see if I can get this guy's help I normally don't ask for help but I bought two things off of him.
Starting point is 00:18:27 And he replied, so that's cool. Let's see. It cannot seem to figure out first how to set up a original disk drive to test what step am I missing only what eBay lots of times when I do, I'll put a link and eBay kicks off the link on me. Because it thinks I'm doing something that's not. All I'm trying to do is communicate with people with my YouTube. And that's it. I'm not trying to.
Starting point is 00:19:37 See, there it goes. Ah. It appears your message contains a link that's not allowed under member-to-member contact. Ah. Watch the video watch the video so now I gotta change it instead of putting the link so you can just watch the video it's such a frustrating thing it doesn't do it all the time but but I watched a video on my YouTube channel of the same name. I cannot seem to figure out how first to set up the original disk drive to test. What step am I missing? See, instead of putting a link, I have to do it that way.
Starting point is 00:20:23 And then sometimes I can lose somebody if I ask too many questions a lot of times I try to make sure if people ask me lots of questions I reply to every single message even if it's really bad even if it's a even if something's going really bad which has happened and I just keep getting bad messages I kind of sometimes return bad messages, sometimes, but normally, if someone's got a lot of questions, I try to keep helping them out as much as I can, so hopefully this bio will be cool about it too, and help me, just a step I'm missing, I know it is, I just can't seem to see it. I even found a whole thing on Compact 3 that I could download
Starting point is 00:21:09 with the instruction manuals. I actually found the disk drives that I could have made my own. I found it all. Even in there, I found all the instructions. It says type in the number and I'm typing it in, but then that's it. So.
Starting point is 00:21:27 Alright. it says type in the number and I'm typing it in but then that's it so alright so that's what we'll do this morning and I'll have stuff to do later on I'll pick something and then I'll try to get to some kind of a video later today we'll pick something else again I want to do something completely different later on today so we'll figure out something fun
Starting point is 00:21:47 all right so you guys have a good afternoon and i will talk to you later all right bye
