Alright, so today I'm going to do Nintendo Switch, and then we'll see if I get some specs on Switch 2.
It looks pretty cool. I'm sure it's really high-tech compared to the original Switch here.
Which they've put a lot of life into since 2017.
So the first I ask is, why did Switch use cartridges for the Switch?
Obviously it's because they're smaller, more durable, because they want to make it a hybrid the handhelds in the dock the cartridges offer a robust and
travel friendly option faster loader times obviously power efficiency
support for the switch it was designed to be portable compact and light design
Nintendo's history with cartridges.
Has a long history of cartridges.
Super Nintendo.
Nintendo.
And then they transitioned to.
So it was Nintendo.
Super Nintendo.
And N64 cartridges. And then it transitioned to discs.
For Wii and Wii U.
And returned to the cartridge for the Switch.
Due to the speed,
third-party support, and security,
while it may
seem like a limitation,
using cartridges also allows
Nintendo to work with third-party developers.
It's harder to copy
a disc.
Alright, so let's get a
Switch cartridge game code process.
Yesterday I did Wii and Wii U.
And I was like cross-referencing kind of rare games.
There's really not...
So Nintendo Switch, you can't really see these rare games now but I will look
anyway maybe somebody harder to find and I suppose if it's like we're talking
like an NES game that's really hard to find and really expensive process the
switch game cartridge works with a technical precise involves several key steps. Here's an overview. Cartridge storage. So the Switch cartridge is a flash memory based storage medium typically used in Nanda flash memory where the data is stored the game code itself is stored on the cartridge various components like
executable code libraries system files packed in an appropriate format for
switch operations game assets these are things like textures music sound effects
3d models and so on you in this insert the cartridge with the pin inside the cartridge slot.
The Switch system software detects a game cartridge has been inserted.
Reads the game code.
Once the Switch organizes the game, it reads it.
The Switch system software starts reading the bootloader and other initial files. The game code is loaded onto the cartridge's flash memory into the console's system RAM where it the game. Operating system.
Loads additional content.
Any DLCs or anything like that.
Running the game.
The CPU is ARM based.
And the CPU is custom.
Nvidia Tegra based.
To render graphics.
To code and direct.
As you play. Like players.
Might be to be saved itself. So you can save the game to the cartridge or use the internal storage SD slot.
The cartridge itself does not have any moving parts.
It's completely solid state.
So loading the game is generally fast and efficient.
So there's no messing around unless something happens to that card or the flash memory encrypting it has some sort of a cryptor on it digital right
management DRM this ensures the games data is accessible on legitimate devices
updating patches the game itself may have patches, updates, and you would use these once you load it.
It would, what is the operating system on?
What is OS on Switch?
I hope I remember that.
I did switch as a system a while back.
Let's see what I do.
So the OS system on a Switch is
Linux-based operating system.
OS is built
a modified version of FreeBSD.
A Linux-like operating system.
Graphic.
It's a user-friendly
interface UI.
Multimedia operation.
Handles
execute games. Security games security has security member measures firmware and update system firmware I don't think it felt so for
Nintendo Wii I believe you know we did firmware updates was with the disk she
had a newer game it would update the firmware Wii U you could use the
internet and obviously everything
after that you do. The OS key features like user profiles, Nintendo Network, online multiplayer,
Nintendo Switch online subscription. So you can't, there's no more subscription for like
Wii or Wii U. Everything is through Switch. So I wonder if it'll change to Switch 2.
Okay. So let's see.
Let's ask if it has.
Do you have
any specs
on Switch
2 yet?
Let's see what it says.
Usually AI is behind
the curve, meaning if it doesn't know,
it doesn't know. As of now, it's not meaning if it doesn't know it doesn't know as of now it's not officially yes
it doesn't know
which would look like
improved graphics, chipset upgrade
Tegra chipset
possibly upgrade to Tegra
times 2
so this is just a hypothetical
I believe the specs are out there
better graphics
4k support ray tracing support I believe the specs are out there. Better graphics.
4K support.
Ray tracing support.
Ray tracing improves lighting and shadow effects.
Upgrading resolution from 1080p to 1440p.
OLED or mini LED technology. So it will have some sort of upgraded OLED.
Obviously better battery life, 7-10 hours.
And switch to is backwards compatible.
According to Zippy here, he thinks it is but we already know what it is.
Again he is a little behind the curve.
High graphics, 4K, faster memory, faster internal storage, NVMe, solid state drive, improved
RAM, perhaps LPDDR5 or LPDDR4 times. Again you always want all the faster stuff.
Issues with drifting.
We know now that the Joy-Cons are electrically magnet to
either side, as opposed to slide-ons,
which should save a little bit better.
Fingerprint scanning, maybe,
what they're saying. New input
output peripherals.
It's talking about VR, but we haven't seen anything like that yet.
Or an
argument of reality.
But I think the original thing you just do their switch itself will be us coming out sometime this this April I think let's go look at the the Nintendo
switch library I want to see if I can find the specs online.
Let's look for it.
Well, you know what we'll do?
We'll ask Gemini.
I haven't asked Gemini anything in a while.
Gemini is my flash.
He was already called Flash, so.
I named my chat GPT Zippy.
And I also learned today that the new infrastructure by the new government is going to be called Stargate.
That's really interesting.
A whole new infrastructure for everything computing called Stargate.
So we're starting out with a lot of good new fun stuff.
So let's see what the library was.
It has a large collection.
AA titles, Indie, Zelda, obviously Breath of the Wild and Tears.
Super Mario Bros. had a bunch.
Animal Crossing, Splatoon, Fire Emblem. I've never played any other games except...
Never played any Pokemans.
Lots of new Pokemans now.
Witcher 3.
Supposed to be Witcher 4 coming out. And I believe it's a
female that I think I saw.
Stardew Valley is pretty fun. That's cute.
I like that game.
Monster Hunter Rising.
So, Hollow Knight.
Indie games.
I've not really played any. Oracle of Time.
You can go retro.
Play the old games too on Switch.
Prime 4, which is coming out.
Legend of Zelda Tears, that came out.
Pikmin.
It's a Pikmin series.
Alright, so let's look here
and see if I can find...
What was I going to do? Oh, the specs.
Let's see if I can find it.
Specs of Nintendo Switch 2.
Let's see if it has any specs for it.
Obviously people are already trying that.
Hardware specs so far
we know. So the screen
looks like so far we know
that it's 9.4 inches long.
So like a tablet almost.
Which has
a larger screen reportedly 80 inches.
The CPU
is powered by NVIDIA custom
Tegra T 239 processor according to the leak I think it's all we know so far I
think it's all been leaked yet let's see if I can see anything else here size yeah so screen size is gonna be bigger so that's CPU GPU storage 2 terabytes
that'd be interesting switch to cup card the cards up to 2 terabytes and 120
terabytes which offers much faster reach speeds and occupies up to 225 for the SD card itself.
Micro SD card will have up to 128 gigabytes.
Additional is rumored to have 12 gigabytes of RAM and 256 gigabytes of built-in storage.
So there you go.
So we're at 64 for the OLED, for the RAM, for the RAM that now will go up to 256 switch to
features port cartridges other specs we're still in here and to certain
hardware details like screen resolution power power consumption. Let's see what else we can find.
Nobody else has any.
Any Switch 2
updates. It's official.
New is a Switch 2.
And it's some sort of a magnet, it looks like.
That locks
it in on either side.
I mean, the only thing I don't like
about it is it's the same old dock.
It could have come up. I want it to switch
box.
Would it look like a small, dedicated
gaming system
for the TV?
And then the back would have had some place where you could piggyback
the newer...
That's what I wanted.
And then it has the number 2 on it, which
I think is really stupid.
I mean, I understand it's Switch 2,
but it's not like a sequel movie.
But I guess it is a sequel in some way.
But I'll still get one anyway.
I used to play around with lots of Switches
when they first started coming out.
And then a few years after,
I must have had like 400 or 500 of them.
Pulled them around, all of them apart. I sold every motherboard I've ever had like four or five hundred of them. Pulled them around. All of them apart.
I sold every motherboard I've ever had.
Working or not.
And.
If there's any Rare Switch games already.
Rare Switch games.
It's kind of hard to say Rare in 2017.
But we'll ask anyway.
Alright.
So.
So some of the ones are
why is it rare special edition
shanta
shanta half genie hero
ultimate edition
standard edition is harder to find
super mario 3d all stars
collection is a 64.
Super Mario Sunshine and Super Mario Galaxy.
Breath of the Wild, the Explorer's Edition.
Fire Emblem, Three Houses, Limited Edition.
House has a hardcover.
So anything with a hardcover and a steelbook.
Yeah, so if you get a steelbook in there.
I got all the tiers
when it first came out, all the stuff, and then I
resold it all.
I have a couple things left. Everdoc
and Secret Hideout, physical edition.
Exoblade
Chronicles 2.
Persona 5 Strikers.
Labo
VR Kit. There is a VR Kit.
The Nintendo Labo VR Kit was an experimental
and virtual reality unique concept
made for its niche.
As a result, the kit edition is
now difficult to find, especially
unopened kits and bundles.
Let's look at that on eBay. I didn't even know
there was some sort of VR. I can't do VR
because I get dizzy inside there.
I had a Meta 2. That's as high as I went.
And I have some
PS4 VRs
that I haven't...
Okay, I see it. It looks like a...
Oh, it looks silly.
It looks like those
things you put on your face and you put little slides
in when I was a kid. Oh yeah, it looks
really silly.
So... Labo.
Hollow Knight Collector's Edition.
Popular title.
Oh yeah, so I got
PS4.
I have both of the original
VR headsets.
And I have two of the working
units you need.
And then all the wiring that goes with it.
So, we'll have to get to that.
Ooh, Octopath Traveler.
Panzer Dragon Remake.
I have the Panzer Dragon, actually.
Little Town Hero.
You'll see there's very limited
print run in some regions.
So that's the
thing.
So what are the
what are
what are the
mods
or homebrew
for Switch.
I have Bacchicera,
which is you run it through your computer.
And I actually have tiers and all that.
Tiers and the other ones.
There are lots of games in that one.
Custom firmware.
It's got lots of stuff coming up here.
So there's that type 1 thing.
And it gets me all kinds of fun stuff here.
Overclocking.
Cheat engine.
Inject cheat engines.
Soon it will be just inject AI engine.
And it will do whatever you want.
On any system ever.
So home brewing modding. Buys any risk ever. Oh. So. Homebrewing modding.
Buys any risk.
Any warranty.
Okay.
So let's see what's out there for this.
Homebrew.
Modding.
Set of homebrew mod games.
Custom firmware.
CFW.
Atmosphere is most popular
for Switch.
Heck,
Heac is a bootloader.
SXOS
for Switch.
Homebrewed applications, homebrew menu.
Heck,
it has additional
bootloaders.
NTP.
N-T-R-C-F-W.
Popular homebrew tool.
Injects cheats into running games.
Checkpoint.
Checkpoint is the same game manager for Switch that allows you to backup the store.
SDC.
Athene. Allows to run custom game content textures retro arc
is a multiplayer platform emulator tinfoil is a package manager file
manager switch to install MSP Nintendo Nintendo Switch package files,
including Homebrewed.
Retro Arch.
Game modding.
Some games in the community,
particular games like Minecraft and Skyrim.
You can mod them.
You can add extra checkpoints.
Overclock.
Overclocking tool.
If you like to switch the CPU performance,
however, potentially lead to overheating, overdamage.
Cheat engine.
We talked about injects cheats into the game.
Emulation control.
You can use other devices, apps like Joy-Con,
or Android, or BetterJoy
for PC.
Pretty cool.
And A and D backup.
Making a
different kind of backup.
Risks of ban. Ban on
Nintendo Online.
Piracy.
Potential damage to the console. Bricking.
Overheatingating Conclusion
You shouldn't do it
So that's a little bit of a run down
For the Switch
And whatever I could
Kind of muster up for the Switch 2
I'm sure we'll have more
As we go on here
I didn't realize it wasn't signed in
For my chat GPT.
So that's, and I
have Bacassera,
which you can get on Etsy,
and it runs on
my PC. I have a small little PC
that I use it for,
and I have both tiers.
I have all the Switch games, well, most of the
good ones anyway. I never really sat and played
it, but then you just plug in any control you have and it'll ID
identify it and then you can just use that I've got one for my Raspberry Pi 5
2 or 4 Raspberry Pi 4 some vectors some other so Etsy is a great place to find
anything a homemade retro that's the reason
why i'll go to get any sort of game i'm looking for like there's lots of zelda early zelda games
that have been remade or added up or did something to them so that's a great place though that's
where i always go where i get a lot of these mods and stuff all right so that's my system for the
day i'll talk to you guys later on all right have a good day bye
