Okay, so this afternoon we're going to talk about MetaQuest 3S, the Xbox Edition.
I got it last week, and I've used it twice.
So good news, bad news.
Actually, it's mostly all good news, really.
It's pretty cool.
The price is a little pricey, but so the 3S is not as good as the MetaQuest 3,
which is another $100.
The Xbox Edition has the thicker glasses, the lenses,
and the MetaQuest 3 has the thinner, better glasses inside the lenses there.
So that makes that one better.
But the Xbox here comes with the controller.
It comes with the two hand things.
But the really cool thing about this one is once you use your hands on the controllers,
you can get rid of the controller and use your hand as a controller.
That's really cool.
I really like that part.
The second part I like about the MetaQuest 3S
is the fact that you can see through it.
It gives you that open view out front
because I'm not really good with headsets.
This is the first one that I could actually use,
although I really can't.
So that's some more good news about the MetaQuest 3S here,
the Xbox edition.
Of course, it's all in the Xbox colors.
Nice, nice.
So I opened it up.
I had played it a couple times.
bad news you can only you you get a three a three month Xbox pass Xbox
live pass but through the meta quest the good part about it is you have a
screen inside of your your goggles so you're like looking at a screen and you can
have the view of the outside too so almost makes it feel like you've got a
screen in front you without the glasses on but not really because it's really
heavy and uncomfortable but it does have that back head thing so it makes a little bit more
comfortable but still it's for me it's hard for me to keep these things on I can keep on
for a little while so the point I was making was what oh cloud gaming is the only thing
you can get so if you have a library of games like I do for Xbox series X games and stuff
you cannot play any of your library in this you can only play the
ones that are set up for cloud gaming like the newer ones like my Star Wars
Outlaws was like the only one of a good size library I have games that are
series S games series X games and you can't play any Xbox Xbox one games
obviously so it's only so also if you go to Xbox Live to do some cloud
gaming again there's only a limited amount of selection because not every
every game and Xbox Live is cloud enabled.
So you have a very small library to choose from.
I also tried to use this lying down in my bed.
I thought it would be cool.
I could look up at the screen and have a screen in front of me.
You can do it, but it's really, really uncomfortable.
And you have to keep moving your head around
and you kind of pillow kind of gets in the way.
And so not something you can lie down and do.
You'd have to have it on in front of you, and you'd have to, you know, be moving around.
But the best feature, plus it also comes up with the control, so you attach the controller,
and then you can use the controller while you got the headset on, and then there's a big screen in front of you,
and then you play a game.
It's a lot of steps to get to there.
It's a little bit hard to set up.
The two controllers are really cool, the hand controllers, but it also turns into your hands.
turn into controllers where you can bypass having the controllers at all which is pretty neat
came on a little thing for the glasses but I never undid that so I took it out of the box
I've used it a couple times and now we're saying goodbye to my meta quest I already
listed on eBay got some discount so it brings it back down to about where I paid for
it we are getting a switch two in on Wednesday so I got this
MetaQuest on Best Buy came in the box, but if you look back at my videos, the box was,
they didn't have it packed that well, so the box is banging around the side of it.
So the MetaQuest 3S box, the outer sleeve is banged up a little bit.
So I'll put it back in a box and I'll ship it out.
I'm charging it right now and then I was trying to figure out how to factory reset it.
and so I was in I was I had the headset on looking through everything I could possibly find
and come to find out you have to actually use the power button volume down I think it is
power button on volume down and then you get to a factory reset screen so it's not in the actual
system so I'm letting my MetaQuest 3 S Xbox edition charge up because it's the charge
isn't that long on this either that was it again I've only used it once twice and if you let
it sit it seems to uncharge because I haven't really touched it since the second time I tried it
and it was completely uncharged I don't know how you charge the the well the controller
has a USB port but the handheld things I don't see a port to plug something is I'm not sure
how those charge they're still wrapped with the things on them like you said
I barely use them. Once I realize I can use my fingers as my hands as the controller.
You just tap your thumb and your finger together and that's your click button.
It's pretty cool. I'm a big fan. I did have a MetaQuest 2. This is significantly better.
And the biggest feature is that it's got the head thing in the back, holds it on your head a little bit better.
And then the second thing is you can see it. You can have the mode where you see through it.
so you can actually walk around but have the screen in front of you it's kind of hard to explain but it's a really cool feature I'm sure it's not as good as that really the Apple one but for me it's just I thought maybe I have I don't have actually a series S or series X Xbox are just only invested in PS5 so I thought maybe this would be my I would use this to play my Xbox games but it's
It's just not comfortable enough for me for a long term.
So that's, and I just wanted to try it out.
So it was basically just, I'd get it for a little while, check it out.
And then I decided I'm ready to go on to the Switch 2 now,
which will be coming in a couple days and we'll play around that.
Of course, we'll have a little podcast about it.
But for this here, we'll keep talking about this.
There's lots of good features to it.
It's really cool.
If you've never had a headset before, it's come a long way.
I can only imagine when we can actually just have little goggles on.
The sound is really cool all around you when you have it on your head.
It's comfortable, more comfortable than the previous ones that I've tried.
It's hard for me to leave them on.
I can't play first-person games at all because I get dizzy.
And this is basically being in the first-person game, whatever you're playing.
But with the screen in front of you, other than you playing it through the guise,
goggles itself makes it almost okay for me I can deal with that so it's a it's a big
upstep I think they get a long way to go and they need to be a lot lighter but you
definitely cannot lie down asleep I mean lie down on a pillow in your bed with
the headset on and your hands up in the air you can do it I was doing it I was
playing a little bit but it's really awkward again you don't need you don't
need the control. Once your hands get
calibrated, then you can just use your hands.
So it is possible, but
the problem is it's the back
of the head rest
that pushes against your pillow
and it makes it really hard.
If there was no, if there was a way
to just remove that back end
so you could do it as something
you're lying down, that would be pretty cool.
I mean, it's possible,
but it's just not something. I know I'm never
really going to use it. And it was
It was pretty pricey.
So I was able to get it at the original price from Best Buy.
And luckily, I just got a Switch 2 also original price.
But I haven't paid the crazy eBay prices.
And that'll be in.
And so that's from Best Buy also.
So instead of, I've been waiting around and waiting around.
It's one with the Mario Cart.
But when that one comes in, we'll look at it.
I will sell the Mario Cart that's in there because I won't play it.
I bought a split faction, I believe the game is called.
uh it's a code only so i guess nintendo switches you can switch to as code only i believe the um myra cart that's
inside of that uh console is not a cartridge i hope it is but i don't think it is i think it's some sort of
code uh everything's going to code now so this uh meta quest 3s will be uh listed in a little bit
i will i know it's already listed uh i took some videos of me
showing it I usually do I did a quick 15 second you know flash 15 second and
quick three minute and then a longer video just going through it and then there was
another little quick one showing it so that's all listed I figured we'd talk
about it before I say goodbye to it I'm sure it'll sell at some point and every
little wrapper or piece of thing that was you unpeel it's all it comes with it
I never took apart the power cord or the strap for your glasses that's all still intact.
It's just almost like getting it, but not quite.
Again, I needed my hands around it and it was around my face for a few minutes, but not too long.
So on the box is pretty cool, pretty collectible.
I'm talking about it. It's really neat.
I'm glad I got it.
Most of the time, over the years, I'll get things like this so I can check out.
out and then normally most of the time I resell stuff afterwards I usually don't
stick with stuff too long unless something like I have a PS5 slim that I've had
that for a while that I'll keep or I might invest in a pro at some point but I don't
think but for the Xbox the next thing I'm thinking of but I think it's really
expensive is that Rogue Alley Xbox edition not really handheld kind of
I do have a PS5 portal which is really awesome. I have a black one. I don't really use that often, but it's pretty cool. Something I probably would resell sooner than later. So I'm looking at that rogue alley or the Xboxes have gone up. I'd like to get the series at X white all digital because I really don't have any digital games that are of Xbox series. They're all digital. Those are going way up. And the
Xbox Series X with the disk drive is still the same. There's no upgrade for the S, the white one, without the disk drive. But it's more expensive. Go figure. So we haven't decided. But we decided to go this route instead for now. But I actually had a Xbox Series S. Those are really cool. That might be an option. But I really haven't been playing games at all. I got tons of games. I make sure I don't buy any more games. But I just want to be.
to go through this Xbox, the MetaQuest 3S. So remember, it's not as good as the MetaQuest 3,
which is $100 more. But for the Xbox edition, it's still way up in the hundreds.
I guess everything else is the same for the MetaQuest 3 and 3S except for the lenses.
they're much thicker
on the 3S
and not
on the MetaQuest 3
I thought when I purchased it
the 3S was better than the 3
but it's the opposite
but that's really the only difference I believe
my buddy Zipidomi between the two
but if you want to get the Xbox edition
pretty cool
big fan
just something I'm not going to use
no sense keeping it around I'm not going to use it
All right, so that's my little short podcast for this afternoon talking about the MetaQuest 3S Xbox edition.
And I'll talk to you guys in the morning.
All right, bye.
