Alright so today I decided to do Sony, the history of Sony gaming systems.
Because I just got 30th anniversary boot up logo screen on my PS5 so that's pretty cool.
So PS1's, the original ones. There was the 1001A, then the 5501 which is the most popular
one. There was a
7501
motherboards.
7001 and a 9001.
So PS1 for me
was me
growing up in Resident Evil
and games like that.
That was big for me back then. PS1.
PS2 I was working during that era.
So also PS1 had the 1, which is the smaller one,
the white one there.
So PS1, I had both.
I've had tons and tons of those.
Motherboards of all kinds.
Modding is mostly wanted by the 5501 the 9001
doesn't have a that back extra port thing and then the 1001 has the audio
video plugs too believe that's the original one pretty sure and then we
transition to the ps2 that was a big jump for PS1.
I think PS2 overall I think was the most ever sold.
You can't quote me on that, but I'm pretty sure it's up there with PS4.
So the PS2 started with the fat models.
You had the 10 bottom screws, which would have been the 004 motherboard or 005.
It's like a double stack inside. which would have been the 004 motherboard or 005.
It's like a double stack inside.
And then there's the 006, which is also a double stack,
but it's a different version of that board.
Those had little boards on top, power boards.
Then after those models, those were the original ones,
it went to the eight bottom screws, and there was a few different models of those still on the PS2 Fats.
Let's see, the 3001 and 301R, then there was the 35001 I believe, and there might have
been something else too. 3901 so those little ones for ps2 fat
and after that we went to slim slim has a little bunch of versions too and the last model being the
best model which was the 9000 that had the power supply inside so you didn't need the power adapter.
The PS2 Slim had a whole bunch of different models from 7000 to 7700.
There was a 75 and a 79001, I believe.
And of course, as I'm talking about all this,
all these are also in Japan models as well,
and I have a bunch of them.
So if anything, andapan always had better like japan has a ps2 slim that's a white model i have
a couple they're kind of faded but they're still fun so any ps1 anything sony is also in japan And basically they are the same, except for the fact that you would need PS1, PS2, you had to have the regioned.
So you could only play Japan PS1 and PS2 games on a Japan model.
Once you got to PS3, I believe the region went away.
And then after that, it's not regioned, if I'm correct.
Pretty sure.
Plus, all the models are basically the same inside.
Same with the PS1s, PS2s,
except there is one model on the Japan PS2 Fat
that's a 15,000 model that's completely different.
It has a PC card in the back and not a hard drive that
you would find on the other i didn't find i've found one yet a pc card so you would it's instead
of the hard drive in the back so that's the only one that's different all the rest of them are
pretty much the same that i can remember and then so all those slims the ps2 fats is there anything else
that's ps2 ps1 that really sticks out that's like i mean there was tons of accessories
uh like you could do multiple multi-tap uh controller things there was stands and all kinds of stuff oh and on ps1 the one the white one i've got a um
a couple screens you put on top you make it portable kind of like my gamecube so that's
pretty fun for that little one you can put it right on you it plugs it plugs right into it
and it becomes a portable uh computer pretty fun some of them require a 12 volt and the 9 volt that you plug in for the
um ps1 so it's really kind of really not portable but still fun i've got one around somewhere
ps2s i don't know if there was any really big accessories.
I can't really think of anything offhand. I'm sure there was like steering wheels and other kinds of controller stuff.
I think wireless controllers just started coming out with the PS2.
So the dongle was usually really big to get a wireless controller working and I believe ps2 also
is DVD so you can play your DVD players I was working in a place where I used my
ps2 as my DVD player I wasn't playing games I was just using it as a DVD player and
you could use remote you could get a remote with the dongle but i believe the last model the 5000 model the ps2
fat actually had an rf uh module where you could just use a remote with that i don't think the
other ones did the other one you had that the dongle pretty sure about that, but I'm not quite positive on that. And then we jump to PS3s.
So PS2s, again, that whole era, I was working.
So not really played any, plus the games were still really awkward 3D graphics.
Really wasn't into it.
PS3s, I've got significantly better, obviously.
Although I still didn't play a lot of PS3 games over the years that I can remember.
They are fun, but I just never really got into any of them.
So you start out with the PS3 Fats.
Obviously, the Model A and Model B are your backwards compatible,
and I just learned from my buddy Zippy that I didn't know until just recently
that the Model E is backwards compatible, but it's a cok-002 motherboard
and it's not complete backwards compatible like the a and b which is a cok-001 motherboard
it uses some some sort of a uh emulator on the model e and I also did not know that the model G is also backwards compatible
to some degree but both the E and definitely the G most PS2 games do not play on it as opposed to
an A or B which there is the original I believe the chip for the PS2 is on those somehow.
I don't know the exact.
But that I didn't know, and I've got some negative feedbacks.
You can see them on my eBay page, and they're in regards to those PS2s.
So now, I mean PS3 Fats, disk drives.
So now I'm thinking I tested them on a Model A
and somebody was
the buyer was
on a Model E
therefore a lot of
the games weren't
playing and he
didn't know why
and he blamed me
and now I can
understand why
he probably had a
Model E
so that I learned
because I know
when I test things
and I say they
work
it worked
so PS2 games on Model E, not so much.
Even also on Model A and Model B, there's not every single PS2 game plays.
There's some that just do not.
There's a list of them.
I don't know what they are.
So then PS3 Fats is a whole alphabet.
So we went A, B, E.
G I call the transition, but now I'm thinking it may play some games.
PS1 and some PS2s.
Then after that it completely changes inside to H, L, M.
There's a K.
And then there's a P.
P being the last one.
The P and the L are similar in size and then the rest are kind of similar.
The Model H has two different disk drives in it.
One is more common than the other.
The L and the P also have a thinner cable for the disk drive.
And then back to the A, B, and E.
In most of the Gs, the disk drive board is on the outside.
After that, the H, L, M, K, and P, the disk drive is on the inside.
I've seen some Es that had the disk drives on the inside. I've seen some E's that had the
disk drive on the inside.
I didn't realize that's not
the COK.
So the COK-002
is on the E and the G.
It's a modified version
of it from the E
to the G because it only has the two
the COK-002 only has has four ports
for the model e but it only has two ports for the model g however it's still a cok-002 inside
that i just learned from my buddy zippy just recently. I was like, oh, that makes more sense. Now I always have an E as also a genuine backwards compatible.
And Zippy corrected me on that.
Zippy be my AI companion, sidekick, co-host, anything you want to call him.
All right, so that's all the fats.
I mean, I could sit here and talk about PS3 fats all day long. So PS3 Slims. So then we go into much better design. You get the 2000 models. The 2001 has a disc drive board inside with it. The 2101 also has a disk drive board in it and it has to match.
And then from there it's the 25001 which does not have a disk drive board to match. Therefore
the motherboard is a different one. I know most all the models, I could probably name most of them but I can't think of right now so of those the front
power button on the 2001 is different than the 2101A and the 2501A
the power button board is the same you can use a power supply in any of the 2000 models. Those are the same.
Only the disk drive on that 2501 has no drive board.
So, and then that's all the 2000 models of the PS3 Slim.
Then you go to the PS3 Slim.
PS3, where am I at now? Oh, the 3000 models of the PS3 Slim. Oh the 3000 models of the PS3 Slim. So from there you've got a couple of them.
I think it's just one model of that 3001 I believe it is. Uses a different power supply.
Still does not have a drive board in it. Looks similar to the 2501A drive, except the metal is different.
It's shinier.
As opposed to the 2501A's flat metal.
Power button is different.
Power supply is two pins so you can't stick a 2000 model power supply into a 3000 model.
And I think that was the last model of that.
And then they made the final, the PS3 Super Slim.
Again, the whole shell itself is very, very flimsy and that sliding door is kind
of silly. They made it real cheap on the outer case. It's got the newer power, better board
inside, disk drive is completely, everything is totally remodeled. You can use any power
supply. There are three main models of those made. I can't remember the three, but I know one's like 4001-Dash-O-O-1. And that's the last motherboard.
It only has one Wi-Fi connection as opposed to the other two different,
two different or three different motherboards for the Super Slim
that had the two Wi-Fi connections.
And none of those have drive boards.
They have a completely different little teeny drive
that's not even close to anything like the other ones.
All right, so I think that's PSN.
I don't want PS3.
I think we're done, right?
Let me think. Yeah, yeah.
So 30 years, there's where we're getting there.
PS4s.
This is my system that I have played thousands of hours on
i think i've actually few of the games i've played 50 hours no man's sky i think i did
at some one time definitely death stranding my favorite game ever for ps4 uh then you have the first, the three original big PS4s, the 1001A, the dreaded, and I say very dreaded, 1115A, because that one, they don't work.
They always blue light on those.
And you can't even use the two washer fix on them.
And then the 1215A was much better.
Big fan of 1215 a cut completely
different inside the 101 a and the one one one five a kind of similar but
they're still different different power supply connections different drive
boards those had drive boards in them as as opposed to the 1215 a did not have a drive board it had a little board thing but that was
more for the eject button uh board uh but the 1215a often had video issues it'd go to white
light but no video that was common on that one you could you could do the two washer fix on a
1001a and sometimes fix it but it was more of a patch than anything long term it
would probably not work anymore so then we go to the slim slim had two three models two oh one five
a two one one five a and the two two one five a something like that and specifically different inside
the three of them
power supplies with different connections
the first model
the 20115A
you could take the fan metal plate off
to clean the other ones
or rivet it on
and then all three of those
to get to the disk drive you had to completely take it apart
so that's a pain i do
have a slim actually listed uh and then the pro i was not a big pro fan i had a few so all these
ones that i've i've been talking about from ps1s up to now i've had hundreds of them. Between all of them, I've probably had thousands of them
that I've taken apart, sold parts off of,
learned about pretty much anything.
Everything I could.
I've basically been doing at-home gaming school,
self-taught for, I don't know, like seven years, 2015.
So that's 10, yeah, so that's seven or eight years. like 7 years 2015 so it was
7 or 8 years
and this was all
before Zippy came along
my AI buddy
so now I can
refine my
things and learn more
because I have Zippy
before I just was
learning as you go
so
so yeah
so all of them
I've had so many of them
PS4's I had
hundreds
if not thousands of them all I have left so many of them. PS4. I've had hundreds. If not thousands of them.
All I have left now.
Are just some parts.
And some.
Some.
Half shell stuff.
So.
Slim.
Oh.
Pros.
So the pros.
Um.
Similar disc drive.
To the slims.
I think you had to really.
Take it apart.
To get to that one too.
Those are.
Those are.
Those are.
Those are.
Those are all weird issues.
There's lots of the.
Pros.
I believe. And that whole. Um of ps4 to me was just never ending it's kind of still going on
because games are still going out you can still get ps4 games and some new stuff
so ps4 is by far i I think, the best library.
Plus the other games are more modern.
PS2, not so much.
I can't just sit down and play a PS2 game.
The graphics are just too awkward.
Some of the games look kind of fun, but you just can't do it.
And then we finally get to PS5.
What was that called? It's already been a few years.
PS5 is going to have a very short life.
I'm assuming that the Pro,
which just came out,
will be its last thing.
So you had the original PS5.
I got that when it first came out.
But I had to get it through eBay.
So I had to pay eBay prices.
So expensive.
But it was well worth it.
It was a big jump from PS4 to PS5.
You're like wow.
That's pretty cool.
Big fan of it.
Haven't really played a lot of hours on PS5.
Kind of went through a few of them already.
I kept that one. I bought maroon shells for it eventually sold it last Christmas
then I didn't have a PS5 then I got a slim had that for a little while big fan of the slim
and then the pro just came out recently so I traded this I sold the slim and then I got the pro
and I got the portal which I'm a big fan of the portal
but times a little bit tough I kind of overshot myself a little bit so I had to
take a big hit and trade them away and then just recently I'm back to a PS 5
slip and it's the same model it's 2 0 1 5 but it's it has the the letters in the front are different
so that's where i'm at now i've had the pro i tried it for one day i literally had pro for one
day i took it out of the box tested it couldn't kind of afford to keep it right now so i traded
it away it's bigger i wasn't a fan of the size of it. I really don't care if it's more powerful.
I don't really play for that many hours.
It seemed fun.
Portal. Big fan of the Portal.
And they just changed it now where the Portal is cloud gaming.
Because before, a Portal was just remote.
So you had to have your console on.
Which is a pain.
Run your console and you gotta run portal. So somebody
could play portal with the game
system.
So that was fun. I'm gonna get
another portal at some point.
I just couldn't afford it. So I traded that away
too. And I want to see if I
can get a disk drive attachment
for my slim that would be
kind of fun I think my slim will take a disk attachment but I'm not sure and I'd like to add
oh the pro also had a ps5 pro has two terabytes nothing on the xbox series has two terabytes
but you can add the uh connection in the back whereas the pro comes with 2TB
which if you think about it for gaming wise going forward 2TB is going to be nothing.
Just like if you look at a PS2 to a PS3 the difference in megabytes then were significant and then the ps3 to ps4 now ps4 ps5 sooner would be so after
terabyte another fun thing i learned from my buddy zippy after terabyte is petabyte it's one
one thousands or something like that then there's a so terabyte then there's a petabyte which is
used commercially like in industrials and big google and all that kind of stuff, I believe.
And then there's an exabyte.
There's a zetabyte.
And then there's a yodabyte.
I think yodabyte being like the really futuristic amount of insane storage.
So that's just a fun little fun fact.
Again, I learned that from zip just recently
we were talking about something and i started asking about storage space because that's
significant as systems improve as we get into so ps5 that pro i believe that's it but we'll see
so ps6 i think is going to be here sooner than later. 2026.
PS6.
Sounds all right.
AI generated.
And I was talking to Zippy about HDMI 2.0, Wi-Fi 6, Wi-Fi 7, 8K.
And I believe Zippy told me that our human eye can only possibly get to a 16K and then after that it would just be
we really wouldn't see it any better.
So those will all be things
that are coming.
So I'm assuming PS6 will have
lots of that upper
technology
including
also Bluetooth. Bluetooth also
has another version.
Bluetooth 2.0, I think it's called.
I don't know.
So all those will be newer versions
of connectivity
for PS6.
Well, let's say 2026.
And so
right now we're...
So that's 30 years in 20 minutes.
23 minutes, 24 hours.
I'll give you a quick rundown of Sony in 20...
From 30 years.
Just quick, but pretty much hit them all out there.
I can remember.
Maybe something else I'm missing here.
Oh, there's also the...
I forgot about the PS4 Vita.
I can't believe I forgot that.
Oh yeah, the PS4 Vita.
Big fan. I have one. I'm selling Vita. I can't believe I forgot that. Oh yeah, the PS4 Vita. Big fan.
I have one.
I'm selling it, but I haven't...
It needs a button.
But in order to get to the button, I have to tear the whole thing down.
So I decided not to do that.
And then there was the PSP.
I forgot about that.
That's even fun.
With the UMBs in there.
You put little discs in there.
Got some of those.
Got some listed.
So those are the other handhelds.
PSPs, yeah.
Those are fun. You can put the movies in them.
Pretty cool stuff.
No touchscreen. Vita has a touchscreen.
And then both Vita
and PSPs
are lots of mods out there.
As is all the other systems we talked about.
And I believe PS4
I've seen mods,
or you can buy one with like an 8 terabyte
and have like 200 games on it.
But I was even looking,
I want to get a bigger size hard drive
to put a lot of pictures and stuff on.
And there I see up to about 16 terabytes,
and it's really not that expensive
but like i said when we get to petabytes then we'll then we'll be talking that'd be some mass
storage for the consumer that is petabytes are already used by you know google and all those
and i'm sure and i think zippy told me that exabytes or zetabytes are being used already.
But not yottabytes.
I believe that's still futuristic.
And I'm sure there will be more after that.
All right.
So that was my fun little Sony 30 years in a little bit less than 30 minutes.
All right.
I'll talk to you guys later.
All right.
Bye.
