I mean, I do have a trunk, but that's a joke. That's a bad joke.
So we went to dinner last night with some friends and when we walked in. Oh, yes. Okay.
Just show them how I walked in.
Like he just won an Olympic medal and he's like.
Welcome to the Tall Guys Die Earlier, the Normal People podcast. I'm Jake and I'm a grass daddy and I am joined once again by...
Plan B.
The mother of nature, not mother nature.
Don't want to be confused by that. Lena, my beautiful girlfriend, thank you for joining me once again for hopefully an amazing
episode.
I thought you were going to say for hopefully the last time.
For hopefully the last time, no, hopefully not the last time.
Because normally when we come on here, our conversations are a little bit more sophisticated.
We have gotten people commenting, or not commenting, but telling us in real life.
I like listening when Lina's on,
because you guys actually talk about normal things.
But yeah, we missed a week uploading.
We were... We went on vacation.
We took a little vacation.
Do you want to tell them about that?
Can I just run through it really fast?
Yeah.
That's why I'm asking you to do it because I can't do a brief version.
We just went up to Minneapolis, Minnesota for like four days.
Super quick trip.
Had a Juicy Lucy, bunch of good food, 10 out of 10 recommend
getting a Juicy Lucy, went to a zoo, Mall of America,
the Uj that you do when you're in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
And it was nice, it was nice to get away
for a few days, wasn't it?
It was really nice, it was a fun vacation.
For whatever reason, I always have an aversion
to going on vacation or just traveling.
It just makes me anxious.
Well, I don't know why.
I get that way too before a trip too.
I think it's just because I'm so comfortable with my bed
and my nightly routine.
Just my day-to-day routine in general.
And then when I go on vacation, it changes.
And I don't have all the normal amenities I have
that make me feel comfortable.
That's what bugs you?
I think so.
I haven't really pinpointed why I feel the way I feel.
I don't know, I really care a lot about my sleep.
So if we're like going camping or we're going to a cabin,
I'm like, what's the sleeping, am I gonna care a lot about my sleep. So if we're going camping or we're going to a cabin, I'm like, what's the sleeping,
am I gonna get a good night's sleep?
Yeah. If not.
But I look forward to staying in a hotel.
I love a hotel. A hotel's different.
I know I'm gonna get a good night's sleep in a hotel.
Yeah.
But.
The thing I get anxious about is being away,
what if something happens to the house
and the cats are in the house?
Oh. Or what if something happens to the house and like the cats are in the house? Oh.
Or like what if something happens
to one of our family members and like we're six hours away?
Like that's what makes me anxious about traveling.
Well, now I feel like an idiot
because I'm just worried about myself
and my own comfort level.
But yeah, I don't know.
That's just, I don't know.
I don't, it's tough for me to describe.
It's just. You get into a rhythm and don't, it's tough for me to describe. It's just.
You get into a rhythm and like breaking that rhythm was tough.
I get it.
And like, why would you want to?
But like, that's kind of why I like vacation,
because then by the end of vacation,
I really appreciate my bed, being home, my simple routines.
But you shouldn't go on vacation to miss home,
is what I mean.
I don't do it for that, but that is a side effect that does occur.
Because all of this was to say by the end of this vacation we took, I wanted to stay
and I was like not looking forward to going back to work.
Oh yeah, well no one looks forward to going back to work.
Right, but like I wasn't like excited to go home and like count in the minutes.
I was like kind of sad by the end of it like man. This was so fun. I'm sad to go
It's because you're on vacation with me
I think it was because
No, that is part of it
We did we did really bond as a couple and I see that we are going to test that here today, but
that won't be for a minute here,
but by the end of it, I can't remember what I was gonna say.
You didn't wanna come home.
I didn't wanna come home.
Also, the past couple years, we've been going on so many,
like half vacation type things,
like not really a vacation.
We've got a little traveling.
Because we have a wedding or a family event
or something going on,
or it's a bachelor or a bachelorette trip,
and it's not a vacation or a trip
where we can decide what we want to do completely
and not have any other obligations.
What we try to do is make it into a miniature vacation,
but we have schedule, we have timelines
that we have to follow.
We have to be at this place at this time
and do this thing, which isn't particularly fun.
No.
And especially if it's like your third
or fourth wedding of the year,
then you're just like, ugh, you're over it. You're putting
on a fake smile. You're like, you might be my best friend, but I would rather be shoveling
shit than being here right now. We're never going to get invited to another wedding. No
one listens to this show. But, um. Please invite us to your weddings. I do enjoy a wedding.
Especially. If anything, I'm gonna try to be less likeable
because that's what is the issue.
Because you're already so likeable?
Yeah, so many people want me at their wedding
or want me in their wedding.
Or want me as their best man in their wedding.
Because we're just such good friends.
Yeah, I know.
We're great.
We wouldn't wanna be bad friends.
Which leads us into.
Welcome to this podcast episode
where Lena and Jake just talk highly of themselves and friends. Which leads us into. Welcome to this podcast episode where Lena and Jake
just talk highly of themselves and boast.
It's my show.
But okay, what I was gonna say.
I'm gonna talk about what I want.
Please do invite us to your weddings because I want,
A, I like a wedding, B, I want the food.
C, especially if you're on an open bar.
There's pros and cons.
Yeah, if you have a cash bar, don't even fucking look in my direction. Okay, not come by us. No, I'm not coming
I'm just kidding. I haven't really been drinking that it is it is an entirely different experience when
You are just a guest and not part of the wedding party. Honestly, I do enjoy both
There's just more stress associated with being in the wedding party. Honestly, I do enjoy both. There's just more stress associated
with being in the wedding party.
That is another thing too.
Weddings are way more enjoyable when you're not
in the wedding party.
Well, and that's because you haven't been up since 7 a.m.
Also, as a guy, it's a lot easier.
Yeah.
Basically, being a bridesmaid is a task.
I still enjoy it though.
Like, I still, it is more stressful.
I'm getting the cute bananas and drinking my mother's
and doing my own.
And it is stressful, but sometimes I enjoy
a little stress, you know?
Spices life up a little bit.
I don't wanna get too comfortable.
I like to be on edge a little bit.
I do.
A little slightly anxious and stressed at all times.
He's so bad. Why would you want that? on edge a little bit. I do. A little slightly anxious and stressed at all times.
So bad.
Why would you want that?
Because otherwise I will do nothing and care about nothing.
It's almost like you're like, you're like, if I get too comfortable, then a tiger is
going to attack me from behind.
Like you're like that caveman that's like, I need to be on edge, otherwise I'm going
to die. I'm never like searching it
out or like if I'm, you know how like some people like when they're happy they're like
am I really happy or like waiting for the other shoe to drop? I'm not like that. If
you're not anxious and you're anxious about not being anxious, You need controlled chaos. Yeah, I just need I just need stuff going on sure
It does make time fly because you don't like being stuck with your own thoughts. This is getting dark
How about we pop open this mini fridge and kick this episode off?
Speaking of being stuck with your own thoughts. What is gonna drown them out today? Oh
What do we got What is gonna drown him out today? Oh.
What do we got?
The mini fridge gave us wine,
but I don't think it gave us a wine opener.
Good thing we have one of those.
Do you need me to go grab ours?
Probably should.
Damn, they knew I was coming.
What?
They said let's get you a fancy drink.
Why would the mini fridge give us wine
and not give us anything to open it with?
Cause it doesn't care.
Ultimately it's so bizarre.
It just says fuck you.
Okay, do you wanna run and grab it?
Yeah, I'll be right back.
But I'm gonna be the one that has to open it.
Yeah.
We're not, we're not cutting here.
We like to keep things rolling because that's
less editing for me being the editor. I guess what I'll do is I'll give you guys a quick
update on where Cam is because I know you're all anxious to hear that. Cam is making his
way up through Africa as we said. He's avoiding the malaria at all all cost I did refresh myself on that video to see exactly the walk. He was taking
So it does start in South Africa and it goes not through Kenya, but it does go up through southern Sudan and Sudan
He is working his way up through that territory right now
He is
Sending me pictures, you know, there's a lot of sand up there in the Sahara Desert a lot of camels and
You know cam he he's tackling it just like any other task in life and he looks like he's having a great time
So we're not gonna bother him, but he may phone in here
here and there once he gets to like maybe a
You know, I don't know, a
desert inn. Is that a... wait, did I just make a joke? Because that's a type of hotel,
isn't it? A desert inn.
I have no idea.
A desert inn in the desert.
I thought you were making a Jesus joke.
I don't know. A desert inn in the desert.
Yeah.
Quite possibly.
There you go.
But that's... yeah, so we missed a week
because we were kind of busy.
We were gonna-
Oh yeah, we really got off topic.
There was a chance we were going to record
the night we got home, but I was like-
We were ready to chill out.
You know the way you are after vacation.
The last thing you wanna do is,
the thing you're looking forward to least
is going back to work. And not that this podcast is too much work but it kind of is work. After a trip
you just kind of want to get home, chill out, lay on your couch, you know, hang out with the cats.
