her brother's like super like overprotective and she ends up like
like it the title of the book is her mind says like no but like oh with her brother no not no
oh hold up no not with her brother i'm like they're they're next door neighbor okay i'm
like you picked a weird genre to get into reading cam no no they're not like that they're not like
they're not like said ugly love're not like that. They're not like...
It said ugly love.
Like, how ugly are we going to get here?
Welcome to the Mr. Judge podcast.
That's Mr. Judge.
I'm Mr. Judge.
And we are... Mr. mr judge and we are mr judge and we are the grass teddy okay thank you um how serendipitous welcome back to another episode
how serendipitous that we're wearing the same outfits as last week same outfits that's crazy
are you thirsty i wonder what the black mini fridge is provided our our glasses haven't even moved so i hope there's no germs in there yeah but you know
what i think we're good because the ice hasn't completely melted yeah it's been so it must have
been so cold here over a week so it must have been so cold that um obviously no germs below
like just like 20 just like 32 degrees.
I'm a bit of a penny pincher.
I don't like to let the heat get above 33.
Yeah.
So Lena hates me for it.
She's usually just bundled up, walking around in a full-body sleeping bag to preserve body heat.
But without further ado, let's jump into this episode.
Last week we talked about March Madness.
Yep.
This week it's the second round.
The second round is officially over.
Right.
I hope that I have more points.
Yep.
I mean.
You don't because.
Assuming I don't.
He lost Kentucky the first round.
Oakland.
Exactly.
You don't even know their name because they're nobody.
Because Jack Golke.
And guess what?
Dude, I've never seen somebody that just like.
Did you actually watch that game?
No, I watched highlights of it.
And the kid just.
Where he had 10 three-pointers?
Yeah, and he's just got like
three guys on him and he just like stepped back just like one leg it was like he was fighting
tooth and nail to get open and it was like if he could half his shots he wasn't even open i'm like
why are you passing it to him right it was like if he could physically just throw the ball up
was all the room he needed and just fucking
switched it the record for the most three pointers in a march madness game was 11 so he almost tied
the record martin did you pray today i'm gonna be more oh martin get me will you hand me the stuff Martin Hey I don't need no mixer
Wait I do need
I do need some ice please
Before we do anything
I dare you to take a shot of it
No
I don't want to ruin it
You know this is a classy podcast
where we mix
crown apple with Mountain Dew.
You know, we keep it classier
out here.
So, I did
jot down a couple topics that I wanted to talk
about because I had some ideas.
You know, I'm a bit of an idea man.
Yeah, yeah.
My mind is always racing.
Yep.
And on the topic of my mind always racing,
given the job that I have,
Yeah.
which is working on a golf course,
Yeah.
there are times in which I am spending
a lot of hours doing something very repetitive over and over.
And you can only listen to so many podcasts before you're like, let's change this shit up.
So with that being said, sometimes I just kind of self-soothe myself, a.k.a. I'll sit and just kind of fantasize.
I don't know if you're the same way, but do you ever just like, I don't really want to listen to a podcast today.
Or like, this especially happened to me when I was working at LPS, when I was sitting on a zero turn for the entire day.
Like at the golf course, it
kind of gets mixed up.
You get kind of tossed around between this job and that job.
But like at LPS, it was going back and forth all day on a mower, which got pretty monotonous.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So there'd be time like i listened to like every episode of like
retin links podcast i listened to i started like just listening to movies on netflix
like i listened to like all the different like comedy shows on netflix yeah to the point where
there were some days where i would just like sit and i would put my headphones on but not turn them on and i wouldn't listen to anything and i would just kind of sit
and like meditate um and what i would do is just kind of just i would just think about shit like
things i wanted to do so basically i called it we just need to get martin in here oh he'll make me
talking about like i basically yeah he was like just need to get Martin in here. Oh, he'll make me talking to him.
Like I basically,
yeah,
he was like,
you need to talk your into your mind,
dude.
Basically I called it.
Um,
and I,
do you want some,
I've told Lena this before and I don't know what it is.
I don't know if it's like when I'm at my peak awakeness or when my caffeine is starting to kick in fully,
but I call it my
creative hour because there's a creative hour, right? I call it the creative hour. There's a
point in the morning where I get this urge to make something or do something. Like I remember one time i'll give you a couple examples i remember one time i was like oh my god i really
want to host a smash bros tournament where i bring all my friends over we do it like bracket style
tournament style and we'll record it and i'll get this mic set up and I'll commentate.
Yeah.
Like I could watch it from a different monitor and be commentating
just like the professional guys do.
And I'll have all my friends compete in the Smash Bros. tournament bracket style
and I'll commentate it.
I think that would be so fun.
Right.
But no, actually it's like a job.
Being a professional gaming
like commentator
yeah
them fucking tournaments get crazy dude
well yeah
but anyway yeah go ahead
the other thing that I fantasized about one morning
this was on 8 green
I was
and you're just like
god a hot blonde fat not that kind of fantasy i knew you were gonna take
it there no i knew you were gonna take it there you just dropped the cup cutter in a box you're
just sitting there just no no no i was mowing greens which isn't a euphemism for anything
i was mowing green and probably quite the opposite of what you just said i was like i really want to
make a pirate ship in minecraft i just suddenly got the urge i was like that'd be fun to create
yeah like build yeah yeah yeah that's what minecraft's about it's called creativity i i
haven't had one recently, but we haven't.
It doesn't really happen in the winter because we don't like have a monotonous like change
cups every day.
Mo greens every day.
There's no like monotonous schedule.
But okay.
Have you ever, but I called the creative hour.
I've been like sitting there like playing video games and I'm like, like I play arc
survival.
I don't know if you know what that is.
It's like a survival game, but with dinosaurs you had and you can build and do all that shit or like minecraft i'm like
god man i really want to build something or like play this game and do it like this way and so then
i install it and then i'll start playing from it i'm like this is fucking boring and it's just like
the most random like urge or sometimes i'll like get like
a super clean mood like you'll get the urge to organize and clean yeah which okay which that's
just adhd but yeah um but do you ever do that at work do Do you ever just, like, sit and fantasize? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Not in that way.
No.
No, I'm not mowing grass.
I'm just like, God damn that.
God, I'm horny.
Fucking just big booty just, ooh, yes.
No.
But, yeah, like.
Like, meditate.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Just kind of think about.
There's a lot of times.
Like, sometimes I'm like, I want to build this or. to build this or this is what I want to do this weekend.
Like with my ADHD, like sometimes I just can't like –
I'm like, man, I really want a podcast, but I just can't stay like in tune with like the podcast.
Like you find yourself drifting away where you're not really listening to it anymore.
Yeah, and it's more annoying to me because I really want to listen to the podcast or it's like right now i'm like literally watching eight tv shows oh because like
i really want to watch like my halo tv show i started watching but yeah but like it's right
now i'm like going to like a slow spot and like i'll like catch myself like pulling out my phone
like in commercials and then i'll like i'll miss it until another commercial like i just like get stuck in my own world and then i'm like motherfucker i really
want to watch this tv show sometimes that'll happen to me like when i'm watching like football
or even basketball i have to like check myself and make myself keep watching because i'll be
like between plays like where there's a lull in the action and i'll pull my phone out yeah and
then i'll be like well
now i'm not even watching the game i'm just scrolling on my phone see that's like me i
really really really really really want to watch like march madness like sit down and like watch
games and watch games but i just might like mind i cannot do it well with basketball basketball's
pretty fast paced though yeah but at the timeout make sure he does not
knock that over
the other thing was
uh
alright get back
Martin
back up a little bit
back to football
lay down right here don't go back to the hey come here sit lay down right here
don't go face down
ass up
come here
you just know right
when you pet a cat's butt
they push their boobies up
anyways
pet his little head
and then he'll lay down
next to it
see
Bailey was telling me
she sent me a TikTok of this guy and this gal and they they have a thing
where they started a deal where they clean every sunday and like they deep clean like every sunday
and she's like you would find that so like satisfying if you just did it it's it's the
hardest part is starting but but once you get done yeah the satisfaction i actually
like came like i i did some research on it because any single like every single time
i've my personal space like my space like my bedroom all through like high school and stuff was a disaster really like i liked it messy oh but i
looked it up but people with adhd like their personal space is messy because it makes their
brain work hard i i've seen something like that but like you were saying like i'll come over here
and you're like man i really want to clean my garage and like i'll just start cleaning and it's
like every little thing like i want it like organized's, like, every little thing. Like, I want it, like, organized, you know?
Like, to a T.
Or, like, I go to work.
I want everything, like, if somebody's like, I want you to organize this.
I'll spend all day organizing it.
Yeah.
Because you like the satisfaction of it.
But, like, if you take me to, like, my own space, I'm like, fuck that.
I saw this thing where it was, like, and this might be a little bit of a reach, but it was like geniuses like having their areas cluttered because it requires them to remember where things are.
Yeah.
And it like keeps their brain engaged.
Mm-hmm.
So I can kind of see it a little bit. Well, in like through high school, I started literally telling my teachers I had like a little doodle book.
And like when they're like teaching, I would like start doodling.
And they're like, you're not paying attention.
I'm like, no, but I am.
Dude, like I might have ADHD.
This is this is requiring this is requiring my brain to work harder.
And like you think I'm not paying attention.
And it might not look like I'm paying attention.
But my brain is processing what you're saying.
Dude.
First, like, if I just sit here and I'm, like, listening to you talk, you know, I'm probably going to forget, like, half the shit you say.
But if I'm, like, sitting here, like, keeping my, like, but if I'm keeping my mind busy, it's like my brain really wants to worry about this.
But if I just worry about this, I get bored in my mind.
I start to go, like you were saying, off into my fantasy world where I start thinking about stuff.
And then the entire world, like, you know.
So you just said something so relatable to me because like picture this you're watching like
an educational movie or something on screen that you have to that we have to watch yeah and you
know because they're like you need to watch this. You know, it's educational.
I feel like there's times where, like, if I had my iPad and I was, like, playing 2048 or something like that. Like, a monotonous game where it has my focus and I can hear it in the background.
I'll retain more from it than if I was just sitting, watching it, being bored.
Then I'll space off and think about something else
not be engaged on that
rather than be engaged on this game
yeah and
hear everything it's saying in the
background yeah
so I see exactly what you mean by that
honestly and like I was telling Jake
today if that's ADHD then I
might have ADHD I think
I was showing jake this
stand-up comedian i'm probably not going to shout him out because he's never going to listen
but like don't say his name yeah yeah yeah yeah um but this comedian i found very cool
because he also has adhd but he also has autism and like autism.
And he said he had a joke on one of his deals was like his brain is a Ferrari engine and like a shitty car that has like no brakes because like autism is
like processes things like slower.
Like it takes more to process it,
but you have ADHD and your brain's like fucking
well i don't but autism also feel free to correct me if i'm wrong i'm pretty sure autism also
makes you like really overstimulated like you notice a lot of exterior yeah yeah yeah stimuli
all at once yeah so we had we had this kid she just speeds it up we had this
kid in my high school i had a teacher like where i'd go and like take tests i think i've said that
on like previous episodes or something like i'd go take tests well this kid was just like
he with his like autism he was like nitpicky, and it would drive him, like, fucking bonkers.
Like, if something was, like, out of place.
So, in order for him to, like, get through school, they literally just moved him into this classroom.
Like, he would go and, like, if we had, like, a class or something, like, where the teacher was talking to us.
Yeah.
He would come in and sit in the class.
But then once he got his work and stuff he went to this other teacher but he had like
things set up on his desk to like help cope with right that and like he needed other forms of
stimulation yeah he would like literally come in and like the janitors would like clean all the
desks at night like we had a cleaning crew that'd
come through and clean her desk vacuum the floors well one day they moved like something that was on
his desk and he like sat there like for i was like taking a test and he like sat there for a morning
like trying to get it right back yeah spot it where it was yeah and like it was it was like
crazy like honestly this is when i first like realized that the like human brain is like so intriguing.
Yeah.
And like, it's like very intriguing to me.
Because it has to be probably what felt like, what felt right.
And like, I mean, like what he, you know, like thought was right.
And like he sat there for a good like hour and a half.
Like I was like taking the test and I had like multiple tests to take that day.
It was a big testing day. and I still had multiple classes, so I just went and got all my tests and came in there and took my test.
And he, like, sat there for, like, a good hour and a half, like, and then he would, like, try to do his work, and then he'd move it back.
So he might have also had, like, a touch of OCD as well.
Maybe.
And, like, then he, like, got it there, and you could, like, see his mood change.
Like, he got it, like, where he liked it, and and you could like see his mood change. Like he got it like where he liked it.
And it was like,
like he could relax.
Yeah.
It was like,
it was like,
dude,
like not like what the fuck,
like you're weird.
But it was like,
what the wild,
like the human brain is so wild.
Like I,
I,
it's crazy because like that kind of like brain,
you know, like somebody like with autism, how they process shit, it'd be kind of cool if you could see it happening.
You see sci-fi movies where they have the shit hooked up to people's brain and you can see how their brain's reacting.
Honestly, dude, I'm sure that's been done.
Probably.
I'm sure there's been psychology studies's different people's brains that have different i mean they
do it for child predator like child predators did you know that to like figure out what parts
of the brains were firing and why well no like kids so my mom kind of worked in like casa so
like sending kids so the people that would get their kids taken away because of
prior offenses they would like sit them down like hook things up to them like their
blood pressure and their like heart rate and stuff and they would hand them magazines
of like porno mags they'd hand them porno mags and then they'd hand like pictures of like
younger children and they're in hand like pictures of like younger children
and they're in their like brain and like heart rate and like that stuff would like spike
easily so it's like it's it's a weird thing but anyways well off that topic well
to segue from this topic i thought that we could do a little fantasy exercise.
So what I want us to do is each walk each other through our ideal day.
If you could do whatever you wanted, like, let's say, but realistically, it's not like you have infinite money well i suppose
if you have a decent amount of money like if you're retired but at this age like or if you
had the day off or let's do let's do two i like i like this idea let's do two let's do one of us
right now like if we could picture our ideal day if Like if we had a day off tomorrow. Yeah, if or.
Yeah, yeah.
If we had.
If we had our day off tomorrow.
If we had a day off tomorrow.
With the money we have.
And then let's do one where we have more money.
And we can probably do about anything we like.
Unless it's like.
Yeah, I want to go to fucking Europe for a day.
Like.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Like within reason.
Like legit.
Like this has to be like a legit. Like I'm going to go eat caviar.
Yeah. Like. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Do you want has to be, like, a legit fantasy. Like, I'm going to go eat caviar. Yeah.
Like, yeah.
Yeah.
Okay.
Do you want me to go first?
Or do you want to go first?
Do you have an idea?
You go first.
I've been thinking about this.
You go first.
I'm going to...
Okay.
My ADHD brain will just zap this fucker up real quick.
Just whip something up.
So, like...
Going off of what I've done in the past, like, like I didn't really do it
this year, but last year I took like a week off because I had vacation time I needed to
use.
And so I like woke up every day, um, had some caffeine and I played a lot of Assassin's
Creed, Odyssey, which is like, well, all of them are open world.
But, like, I was going ham on the storyline.
But, Jesus Christ.
Martin is trying to get inside a box that is way too skinny for his fat ass.
Here, Martin, come here.
They're going to hear you.
You guys go bye-bye.
They're going to hear you. gotta go you gotta go bye-bye um
put your goddamn surface so if i had the day off um well what's it might be a little bit
different if i'm like i just have one day off it might influence like if i start a project or something so let's say we have like a
week off okay um if we have a a week off like i know i have some time where i can just kind of
chill out and do whatever i want i'll probably i don't want to sleep in too late because i don't
want to waste too much of my day because i don't want to just spend all of my time off sleeping so
that's number one so i'll probably get off get up at a moderate time
sleep in till like nine that's sleeping in for me is nine o'clock i'll get up probably have some
caffeine maybe you'll get a breakfast burrito or something um here's the thing. I like to read. But usually when I start to read, my eyes get really heavy.
And it makes me have to fall asleep.
So if I, like, I can't hardly read in the evening.
Like, get home from work or before bed.
Yeah.
Because I won't even be able to make it through a chapter before my eyes get super heavy.
So, like, when Lena and I had had covid i got a lot of reading done
because i could wake up in the morning and i had nothing to do and i would have my little can of
caffeine i'd sit there and i'd read for a while because i was nice and awake and i could actually
get through some pages yeah so i probably do some a little bit of reading. I probably would do some gaming.
But I can't really game like I used to be able to when I was young and just game all day for hours at a time.
Like I get pretty bored.
And so I think I probably would cook up some kind of woodworking project, go in the garage, or since it's getting warm out and I would like to do some half above, half in ground, whatever, poor man's irrigation that I have in the backyard.
I'd probably do that.
I need to do it in the front yard.
Yeah.
So since I would have time to do it i'd probably start working on that um some kind of
either yard work project or maybe woodworking project um i kind of want to make lena a side
table for for our bed but um that's probably what i would do i'd probably do a little bit of reading
hang out maybe watch a little youtube while i'm eating play a little play a little xbox
um basically what i would probably do in my free time now except i would have more time and i'd
probably also work on some projects i find it hard to work on projects like during our daily
daily schedule because if i start something right when i get off work i'm not really going to get much done plus it's it's also the added i'm tired from working where i don't have as much motivation
to work on projects yeah so that's probably what i do i'd probably go over to my parents
hang out with my parents maybe work on a little project or two at their house too yeah uh so that's that's right that's valid that's my current that's my current i'll do
all right day i'll do my current and then we can go to our later on so let's go there um
uh i would say
i am the opposite.
Of everything I just said?
No.
Gaming.
If I'm really feeling gaming, I could sit there for, like, 18 hours and just.
Like if you're into one particular game or just.
No, like if I'm feeling it that day.
Do you cycle between games?
If I'm feeling it that day.
Oh, yeah.
I've sat there and played, like, Rainbow Six Siege for, like, 12'm feeling it that day. Do you cycle between games? If I'm feeling it that day. Oh, yeah. I've sat there and played like Rainbow Six Siege for like 12 hours straight.
It gets so bad that my ass actually gets tired from sitting on my chair.
Like my ass starts to hurt.
You get butt hurt.
See, but also...
Keep in mind, you can do whatever you want.
Yeah, you would be surprised.
You'd be surprised.
This is a little side tangent.
I actually started reading.
I haven't read...
For the first time in his life.
I haven't been reading lately.
But Bailey was reading this book.
And she's like, you have to read a page out
of this i don't know if you know what smut book is like it's like a smut book a smut book they
probably know what it is but it's like uh and like a sexual like tension book whoa like it's like like a romance novel not really romance not like it's like
like that extreme but it's like they're like weird like honestly they're kind of like weird
fantasy books okay so like the one book that she read it was this girl was dating this guy
this guy this guy was cheating on her. And she started fucking his dad.
Like super like.
Super like you know like not ordinary.
But like.
Not just like.
He slowly stroked.
The soft fuzz of her bosom.
Like it's supposed to be like a.
Honestly like.
Like a realistic.
I feel like drama movie. yeah yeah romance movie yeah kind of
yeah just in book form and so i she's like you have to read a page of this i'm like
you're like reading i she's like read this page i'm like no i don't want to fucking read this
page and then she handed it to me and i was like i started reading it i'm like
now i just want to sit here and read this whole book.
So I went and bought a book like it.
The only thing.
No, no. I'm picturing the part in Simple Jack where he's like, my head movies make my eyes rain.
Because I'm picturing you reading and you're going, this makes interesting head movie words make interesting ad movie oh
so anyways it was like it was late like 10 30 we 10 30 by the time we got home we went to target
and got like we both picked out a book and i was like god i want to read this fucking book so what book did you get i got ugly
love okay and it's about this girl moves in with her brother while she's like going to college
and she don't it's it's like it's like a like weird like her brother's like super like overprotective and she ends up like
like it the title of the book is her mind says like no but like oh with her brother no not no
oh hold up no not with her brother i'm like they're they're next door neighbor okay i'm like
you picked a weird genre to get into reading cam no no they're not like that
they're not like that they're not like said ugly love like how ugly are we gonna get here
yeah like but anyways and i started reading it and i'm like one page after another i'm like
i cannot stop reading this and then i got to the point where it was like 1 30 in the morning and i'm like i have to stop but that's
like my adhd real page turner but see my fantasy okay so you would read yeah if i if i had yeah if
i had like you're saying if i had a whole week off yeah i would love to sit down and read my book. Great. But I think I'm definitely waking up early.
I always wake up early.
Walk me through your day.
I'll probably wake up like 8.
Well, you got to take Ruger down.
7.38.
Got to take the baby.
Yeah, 7.38.
I'll feed him.
Take him down.
Come back up.
I might...
Just...
I might hop straight in.
Like, my weekends, I hop straight into video games.
Right away in the morning.
Yeah, and then it really gets my brain, like...
Wakes you up?
Yeah, it gets my brain, like, working fast, but then it also, like...
But it also zones you in.
It also brings me back to like earth because it's
like get some like first morning jitters out right into video games and then i would say
because sometimes like right around like noon like lunchtime i'm like god this game's so boring i
might sit down and read my book and like dial back, slow my brain down, bring me and let that energy that I just put into my video games come back.
But I'll sit down, read my book, maybe eat a quick lunch, and then I'm probably going to jump right back into video games.
So it sounds like you're kind of jumping back and forth yeah but like see that's weird thing because like some
days on the weekends like i'll like i'll be sitting there playing siege or whatever game
i'm playing i'm like man i don't want to play this and then i'll go like watch youtube video
of somebody playing that exact game and I'll
finish their 23 minute video or
25 minute video and I'm like
I go play and then it's like
I'm right back in it
but
yeah I would probably
it's weird what certain things give us
cravings to do yeah
like you watch a guy playing
a game and you're like now i have the
craving to play that game yeah like tonight i might go home and read my books like my adhd
brain now that i brought it up i really want to read right maybe i'll do the same um before you
continue and i feel like i'm sorry what book are you reading right now? I'm interrupting you about... Well, um...
I kind of pounded through the Harry Potter books,
which is kind of embarrassing to admit that I'm 26 and I'm just now finishing the Harry Potter books.
But those are fucking long books.
I've never touched a Harry Potter book.
Because my ADHD.
Because they're so long. Yeah, and and it's like that's the other thing
let me let me finish my fantasy yeah yeah go ahead go ahead i i don't want to fucking go ahead
i can segue what i wanted to talk about yeah into my later on fantasy yeah yeah um i'd probably read
a little bit and then i'm gonna play probably a little bit more games,
and then my brother will get on from work,
and then I'll fucking end up playing with him.
That's the other thing, too.
Playing by yourself versus playing with other people.
Like, nine.
See, but sometimes playing with other people, I get overstimulated.
Because then there's audio from the game and their voice.
Yeah, and, like, it's...
You're processing things so fast yeah and
well like last night when when we were playing halo together like we were talking and whatnot
and then i switched games and you switched games but we all stayed in a party together
there was like a good 10 minute period where i didn't hear your voice once and i'm like is he even still there and then you would just like pipe up in
the conversation i'm like oh he is still there because you were so focused in your game you
weren't yeah and that's what i told um i've actually been looking for a really good, like, really in-depth story mode game.
That's why I downloaded
Ghost Recon.
Do you like, like,
open world games?
Wildlands.
Because I like the missions.
Okay.
Because it's like...
Immersive storyline.
Yeah, like,
I can, like,
put my full
thing in it.
Like, I can put my full attention to it
and feel like i'm getting something
out of it yeah so yeah like yesterday i was like i was talking to trace and i was like asking him
about what we were talking about and i'm like and then he just started talking about it and i'm like
i literally caught myself like that 10 minutes you were talking about i'm like
oh shit like i just keep talking to me for so long and I haven't said a damn word.
I just asked Trace and I'm like,
yeah.
Like you asked him a question.
Yeah.
And he responded.
That's like me.
I'm like,
Hey Jake,
how was your day?
Oh shit.
I forgot.
I asked how your day was.
Like that's literally what it was like last night.
Yeah.
But do you have ADHD or something?
It's what I'm saying.
But it's.
I.
Anyways, I would probably read.
Like, I would love to read.
I love how this whole.
Read.
This whole conversation.
Here's my fantasy right here.
ADHD.
But yes, I would would read play video games and then probably take my dog down maybe play with him for a little bit and
we kind of had the same the same thing and then i would you don't have the privilege of doing like projects and stuff because you don't have a garage.
But yeah.
And it's different once you do get a garage.
You'll probably be like now that I can.
Yeah, I will.
Yeah.
Then see, but the first week when we moved down here like when i first moved to lincoln
right out of high school and i didn't i didn't know anybody and i didn't have anything going on
i was playing video games like non-stop and then eventually like i just got so bored of that shit
i'm like well then you kind of got friends and you did stuff outside of work yeah but like
that's what i'm saying like my adhd took over and bailey was like what the fuck are you doing like
i literally just got up out of my chair one day i shut my video games off i moved everything out
of our living room and i striped our living room like it was a green like i got so bored that i
just striped your living room like with the vacuum i put the vacuum on like on where bare floor
and our old apartment oh our old apartment had carpet oh okay and i got support i put my vacuum on bare floor
and i like went this way and then i would pick it up and i'd pull it back drag it pick it up
burn your stripes in just go over multiple times yeah and then i did a cleanup cut
all the way around you did a cleanup homie did a cleanup
everyone gangsta till he started doing a cleanup pass on the carpet yeah but that's what i'm saying
like it like my brain like has stages like i can keep myself busy and then once i'm like
okay well i've done all that and i really don't want to go back to doing any of that so i'll just
clean and then i'll clean my area and now my brain's refreshed
and now i can go back and do all the same exact shit there you go so that's my fantasy i would
play video games try to read try to read try to read i have to be really be in the mood
um this is to say by ourselves because we probably if we had it at the same time, we'd probably hang out with each other.
There's a lot of different ways it could go.
But now, yeah, if we were, let's say this is kind of retirement age.
So it's kind of where we think we see ourselves.
But also, let's just say, like, when we're retired, I guess, what do you think we'll do?
So I'll start
okay i mean i kind of wanted to segue but okay yeah go ahead segue well so let me finish my drink
um pour me another have you have you ever like when we have a series of days off
like if you've ever had like a weekend off,
have you ever gotten up and been like,
huh, I haven't really been able to like enjoy a morning.
Like we were in,
I'm not sure where we were at.
I can't remember exactly.
We might've been in Albion for,
I think we were in Albion for Lena's cousin's wedding and we were staying at
a hotel and it was like pretty nice outside.
So I think I might've had my windows down,
but like we got up,
it was pretty early and we were just kind of up and about.
And it was morning.
And something just felt different.
And I came to the realization that, like, I'm always up at the butt crack of dawn.
And at this time of day, I'm working.
Yeah.
So, and whenever, and I usually have one weekend day off,
and I'm usually spending that sleeping, or I'm, like, hungover.
So, this is really the first time in a while that I've been able to take in
and enjoy the morning.
Yeah.
The morning air, where the sun is positioned.
How it feels outside.
Everything.
The stimulation of the morning atmosphere.
Mm-hmm.
And just be able to take it in and enjoy it.
I didn't have to worry about, is my boss coming?
I need to keep working.
Like, I had nothing to worry about.
There was no stipulations or, you know, no one was breathing down my neck.
I was able to just take in and enjoy the morning.
And I was like, huh, this is really nice.
I haven't been able to just enjoy a morning in a while.
So all this is to say, if I was retired, I'd probably do something that would allow me to enjoy the morning.
And I think it would be great,
ideally speaking, if I had the money for it,
if I had a boat,
and I could take my boat out on the lake
and just do some fishing in the morning.
That's probably what I would do.
I would probably spend a lot of time on a lake fishing i think because well and i probably wouldn't always do it alone i probably
bring either my dog or you know if lena wanted to come with me or a friend wanted to come with me
yeah or golfing basically i think i would a lot of times try to take in the morning because especially with the industry we work in and since I see myself in this industry for the foreseeable future, a large majority of my life I'm going to be working in the morning.
Well, and really anyone.
You spend the morning working.
I think what I'm going to do whenever I can retire is just make more of an effort to enjoy the morning.
Yeah.
So, you know, I don't know really.
I'd probably, you know, go fishing for the morning, come home, spend time with my wife, have lunch, mow my lawn.
I probably am going to be just like a basic middle-aged dad.
But I'm content with that.
I basically do that now.
I like taking care of my lawn.
Smoking meat.
I forgot to mention that.
Smoking meat.
Yeah.
Yeah, yeah.
Doing little woodworking projects in my garage.
The good life congrats man
hell yeah man congratulations
hell yeah
that was pretty good
that was pretty good
dude
I've said it in the previous episodes
I
think
I was originally born to be like early early morning person like you were saying
you've never enjoyed a morning well did that register with you a little bit i think yeah
because i think it changed because when i was working at kozad and i was working for my brother
i literally would tell my brother i don't care what time you guys start,
but I'm going to come in real early.
I knew what I had to do.
And I would come in and mow greens when it was dark.
I'd wake up, like I'd be mowing while the sun is rising.
I'd watch the sun rise.
I would see the perfect, like just dew layer in the morning.
Nobody has touched it yet.
Satisfying.
Mm-hmm.
But what I'm saying is I think I'm retired.
I don't have anything going on.
First thing I'm doing, I'm waking up probably 5.30,
watching the sunrise, drinking a cup of coffee on the porch,
watching my dogs run around in the backyard.
I'm going to finish that cup of coffee
i'm gonna go get dressed go hit the link how did i think you're gonna say i'm gonna get drunk
i'm gonna get every day fucking hammered no i'm gonna i'm gonna go which who's to say i might
put my good hawaiian shirt on i mean maybe i'm gonna toss a a little Bailey's in my coffee at 530. Who the fuck cares? I'm retired.
I'm going to go finish my cup of coffee, you know, just watch the sunrise.
See, people, I don't understand people.
Some people wake up at like 530 just to watch the news and drink coffee.
Who the fuck wants to watch the news at 530?
The news is nothing but filled full of negativity.
I feel like those people are like real old and they're like it's nixon president again well but like i know a lot of people that just wake up and like watch the news every morning
it's like watch tv dude the last thing i would do is watch public television right when i wake up
because everything is just so everything is so swayed either way it's like yeah just put a damper on things yeah there's no
positivity that's what I'm saying I'm gonna wake up to the beautiful I'm waking up to God's news
yeah exactly what's on the agenda today God oh another beautiful sunrise? Sick. Rainy and shitty. Okay, well, I think I'm going to stay home today.
Hey.
But I'm going to go hit the links.
Be the first one there.
Be that asshole at the first tee time.
Yep.
Okay.
I might have my group of boys with me.
My group of fellas.
We're going to swing our quick 18, know quick 18 noon group we're gonna just
drink us a nice tea or something right like on a round we might stop by the background
grab a few beers three beers you know finish out the background three beers four beers nine beers
drop in the clubhouse when we get done with a round sit down have a couple beers
and then you just want the basic old man life don't you and
then i kind of do too swing home you know grass needs mode i'm gonna hop on the mower oh yeah oh
you're hopping on the mower so you got a ride oh yeah i'm gonna hop around hop on the mower i'm
gonna go mow go mow i probably i'm picturing myself with like a nice cabin with a little pond in the back.
Okay.
See, you're going straight for like the boat.
I'm going straight for like the pond.
I'm going to go home.
Have your own body of water.
Yeah.
I'm going to go for a little pond in my backyard.
And then I'm going to come home, mow my lawn, you know.
Then, once I get done mowing the lawn, I gonna grab my chair because it's gonna be the hot of
the day i'm gonna sit down have a few iced teas maybe a few beers and then once it starts cooling
down the sun starts setting right before dinner i'm gonna go walk out to my pond i'm gonna zing
a line out there oh yeah so you're an evening fisher fish a little bit fish a little bit and
then supper's gonna be ready i'm gonna hop right back into my house or i'm gonna grill it or do something like that probably sit on my porch i love being outside
like i want a nice porch like a porch i could sit on a fucking porch all day we went back for
my niece's baptism and you can read the news yeah watching the news well fuck reading the news well i the news. Well, I mean, but you could read, like, articles that are happening in your town.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah.
And like, oh, that old Killam kid got first place in the science fair.
Yeah.
Good for him.
Yeah, exactly.
I used to mow greens with his dad back in the day at the Ridge.
Yeah.
That's how you're going to talk.
Yep. Probably. His dad was you're gonna talk. Yep.
Probably.
His dad was a big son of a bitch.
He died at age 40, though,
because he's so tall.
God, that boy
must have got his mother's height
because the Lord knows
he ain't no tall boy.
I mean,
honestly, it's just going to be
I won't say his dad pulled 200 pounds on a grip tester
okay go ahead
it's
just then I'm going to go probably sit back out on my porch
again and just
walk in go to bed
I don't know I have a striving
factor right now to
buy horses because I like riding horses what hold on you have a striving factor right now to buy horses because I like riding horses.
Hold on.
You have a striving factor.
In my life right now.
What does that even mean?
I don't know.
It's something that just came to my head and it came out.
You mean a desire?
Yeah.
A striving factor.
Well, the factor would be money, but I don't have money.
I'm striving to one day buy horses so I can just go ride a horse.
Okay.
So you want to have an acreage?
Yeah.
And you're like, fuck a golf cart.
I'm going to take my steed around this property.
Yeah.
I'm just going to trample the fucking greens down.
I'm going to be just, woo, pulling that bitch. Trample the greens? Yeah. I'm going to be just, whoo, pulling that bitch.
Trample the greens?
Yeah, I'm going to ride my horse out to the golf course.
Oh, my golf cart I meant like to get around your property.
They're going to be like, goddammit, Camden had too much Baileys in his coffee again.
He's out there running his horse around the greens.
Too much Irish cream.
No, but.
Hey, park that thing on the cart path.
Aw, shit, get the backpack blower out get the buffalo blower out he left another pile on the cart path what would your horse's name be what would you name your horse i don't know my dad
had a pretty cool name my dad's horse had a pretty cool name that i'd probably keep in the family it
was slash okay i was gonna see if you were going to tell me.
But my dad hated that horse, actually.
What would your horse's name be?
Creed?
No.
That would be sick.
Yeah, that would be pretty sick.
Because it could be like Creedmoor, but also Creed.
I'll get back to you.
I'm thinking about it.
Okay, okay.
Think about what you want to name your horse.
My imaginary horse.
I rode a horse once named Chip.
That is a good name.
I also rode, when we rode horses in Colorado, we went on like a horseback riding trail.
And my dad kept, we obviously knew I was going to get a fairly large horse.
Because when you get tickets, you have to, like, say your height and weight.
So, obviously, if you're a big boy like me, they're going to get a big old Steve.
They're just going to get a big old fucking Clydesdale.
That's what my dad kept saying.
I don't think they had a single Clydesdale there.
Because that's a certain breed of horse.
Yeah.
But they had a pretty big horse that they were bringing around.
He was a good old short-bodied horse.
And my dad kept saying, they're bringing that big old Clydesdale around for you.
I bet that Clydesdale's for you.
He kept saying that.
He wouldn't stop saying, yeah, they got to bring that Clydesdale over for you.
And I'm just like, okay.
Like, yeah, I'm getting the big horse, okay?
Come on, dad.
But its name was Godiva.
Godiva? Yeah. They were were like this is the second biggest
horse we have first biggest step in the go for hold me had to put it no they did i don't know
where the first biggest one was okay so okay on the topic of what we were just talking about, for this very reason about enjoying mornings, I have decided that I am not a sunset person.
I am 100% a sunrise person.
And the reason for this is because with our job, we're typically starting to work.
No one likes to work before the sun is even up now like if you're mowing greens or changing
cups you get through hole one you get hole two three four you do the practice green as you come
around a hole five that east facing hole You come up that hill.
The sun rises up.
The sun's coming up.
No more darkness.
You know, I feel like my mind is very in sync with nature.
Where, like, when it's dark, I feel a little bit dark.
You know, that's why seasonal depression is such a thing.
It's dark and cold constantly.
No one likes that feeling.
You want it to be warm and bright.
So does my mind.
So that sun's coming up and it's like a feeling of hope.
You know, the day is starting to move on.
You know, when it's in the morning and the sun's still down, you're like, man, this is going to be a long day.
Like, the sun isn't even up't even i think i'm the opposite the sun is starting to come up and i'm just like there's hope you know the the day is moving on
it's light out now i'm not gonna be here forever it doesn't feel like i'm in an endless loop yeah
it feels like it feels like moving on and it feels like hope, the idea of the sun rising.
When the sun is setting, all that light, the light and happiness of the day is going down.
It's going away.
So now darkness is setting in and it's a feeling of ending, something coming to an end.
Yeah.
Nobody likes change.
Change is hard nobody likes saying goodbye or no one likes
when something comes to an end especially something good um at least this is my take on it
so when the sun is going down i feel like it's a feeling of saying goodbye and ending so i like the feeling of sunrise like a feeling of hope yeah and i feel like the
sun going down is like it's coming to an end the darkness is coming and setting in that's why
i prefer sunrise over sunset. Now, how do you feel?
Back to because that was the only job that like, let me do it.
I love working in the dark.
I love the darkness is your ally.
Exactly.
I mean, it was it was it's such a weird thing because I remember there would be high school golf tournaments or something like that that my brother needed help setting up for.
Well, we didn't have people like Moe Fairways.
I'll be like, I would literally go from school to there and I'd work till like midnight one two in the morning
it's pitch black like I would be mowing with headlights on right but it's also I mean I've
already told you guys like I crave being uncomfortable and like I would like listen
like murder mystery podcast and like psych myself out a little bit giving like an adrenaline rush
to yourself a little bit yeah but back to when i would just start at like 3 a.m 4 a.m like i just
start mowing greens like 3 a.m 4 a.m pitch black outside and nobody else would be there it was only
me but i think with i think with my adhd that was more of a break or like not actually scratch
the world is asleep right now.
Yeah.
Like I've been putting so much, like not on my ADHD on just my thought process, like just
who I am.
So you're like, I'm on the moon right now.
Yeah.
I'm alone.
Like finally I can get a break.
Yeah.
Like it was like like it was the greatest
thing like i've that shit makes me fucking happy like having to flip the lights on on your mower
you're the only one pulling your mower out of the shop you're heading to the first green or
you're pulling your you're the first cart to pull out of the shop you're going to your first green
change cups whatever but like on my mower i have so many pictures of me just mowing in pitch black,
like just the lights.
But it's your six-foot world.
You're in your own little world.
This is you right here.
You can't see anything else out there because it's pitch black.
And the serenity of the late night.
Do you think a little bit it's you like um do you think it's a little bit like
i'm unseen right now no one can see me so i'm like like in like a metaphorical sense
like i'm kind of like you said in your own little bubble like i'm just doing my own thing and
i don't have to really worry about anyone or anything maybe i don't know i don't know what
it is but like i would literally be moaning at like 3 a.m you hear like the fucking we had a
crick that ran right to the golf course so you could hear like the bullfrog just fucking doing their, yeah, yeah, doing their shit.
And, like.
So when the sun would come up, would you be like, oh, damn.
No, like, it's still peaceful.
But midday is when I'm, like.
When the sun is at its peak.
Yeah, like, throughout there, I'm'm just like it's just another day like
it's not that exciting but like a sunset and then into night and then in the sunrise it's exciting
for me so how do you feel about sunset sunset i think it's cool to watch but i would rather be
like symbolically though what do you think about it? What that mean?
If it doesn't really symbolize anything in your mind, that's fine. I think symbolizing in my mind, it's like this is another experience.
Because every day you typically experience something new.
So here's another experience i probably learned something today and it's like uh i think watching the sunset
or did you say sunrise i like sunrise better than sunset yeah but what did you just i i can
so you said a sunset what do i think of a can – so you said a sunset. What do I think of a sunset?
Yes.
I think of a sunset like, okay, you learned all this knowledge today.
Now let's take it and then – Put some closure on it.
Yeah, put closure.
Like it's like – kind of like you said.
Like it's closing of the day, but I think me being like an early early morning person like let's pack it up and
now let's rest yeah like you're more of like a okay sunset night all right done with that day
okay i'm more of like a like i'll like feed it in you know and like yeah okay and then once like
the middle of the day stops that's when i'm like and like i have to skip the middle of the day and then it'll be like i would take that experience like i would i'd rather just like live through that
even like i love like coyote hunting and like i would go coyote hunting like by myself sometimes
and it's like i wouldn't see anything and so i'm just kind of give up. But I would just shut my call off, put my gun down, just kind of chill.
I think what I've learned from you is that like –
In the darkness.
If you had the option to, like if you didn't have to sleep,
I feel like you would take the option of like you don't like to sleep.
I'm not saying that you don't like to sleep.
But like I feel like if you. Not saying that you don't like to sleep, but like,
I feel like if you have the option where you're like,
I never need to rest, I can just like,
yeah,
just keep going.
I feel like you would.
Oh yeah.
Dude.
Like there's been a couple of times where,
cause I feel like for you,
it's probably such a process to turn on and turn off your brain.
Is that fair?
A little bit.
Yeah.
Like all through like high school and that stuff.
And I think a lot of it might've had to do with like my ADHD medicine I was
taking because it makes your brain like so hyper-focused that you're like
focus,
focus,
focus,
focus,
focus.
You feel dead.
And then once it wears off,
you're like spiked full of energy.
Really?
So right when you go to sleep
because it's because it's letting it's letting your body process what you normally would process
after it's over right it's like you're like now i can think about kind of like it's like
holding you locked in and then once those eight hours is over, it's like it just drops off.
Like I could like feel it like drop off.
And I'm like spiked of energy.
I could run fucking circles.
I could, you know, do anything.
When you're trying to wind down.
Yeah, when you're trying to wind down.
And that's when it became the problem was because I would go to bed and then I'd have to take melatonin.
Because I would stay up till 3, 4 a.m.
Because you couldn't sleep.
Yeah.
Because that's one of the reasons why I also quit taking my ADHD medicine was because of insomnia.
Right.
It was eating and insomnia.
Right.
So I'd stay up till 4 a.m. watching a YouTube video because now my brain, adhd brain is like the hyper focus is like right
i really and i've seen you on medicine before and you're a fucking zombie yeah like compared
we could all agree that we like cam the way cam is and how cam should be but i i don't i don't
know what it is about nighttime but sometimes i've just been like like during hunting season i'm
like yeah i'll go out and then like i'll get out there and i'm like 20 minutes and i'm like i don't
even really feel like hunting and i'll just kill in the darkness i can i can kind of see where you
would find that the world is sleeping right now and it's very peaceful like in the middle of the night yeah
yeah i could i can see that i can definitely see that like late night peace and quiet yeah um
but i think my job has ruined me to it because i'm like since i have to be up early i need to
get my sleep so when it starts to get a little bit late i'm have to be up early i need to get my sleep so when it starts
to get a little bit late i'm like oh shit oh shit i need to get in bed soon because i'm scared to be
groggy at work well i gotta be locked in and focused early early in the morning
dude and honestly i can tell you it it has our job is when I was doing our job,
like the same job we do now and I could pick what hours I worked.
It was so much better.
Right.
Because then I would probably do like what you did where I could get up
really early and be done earlier and have the whole day.
Yeah.
And like you said said a sunrise is
so beautiful to you you love the sunrise well a golf course a good good maintained golf course
is also a beautiful thing and it's something that you take pride in well you take something
that you think's beautiful and something that you take pride in and you watch something you
think beautiful like something that you think is beautiful make something that you took pride in make it even start to illuminate it yeah it's really like oh like i said yeah like it's like
an angel choir is singing yeah exactly like but i the starting at like 6 30 like I feel like for me, my alarm goes off.
I'll wake up at like 430 in the morning.
Like, I always wake up like 435.
It's like my body tells me to wake up.
And then I'll look at my phone.
I'm like, I still got a while.
But in that 435, when I wake up, I feel like I feel like I could just get out of bed and just go.
Like, I'm like ready to go yeah but when I wake up at 6 30 I'm like oh five more minutes five more minutes five more minutes
it has to do with sleep cycles it has to do if you're going to bed at the same time every night
but you're waking up differently your brain might might be
done with a sleep cycle at 4 30 so when your alarm goes off you feel wide awake but if you delay it
until 6 30 two hours if you're halfway through another sleep cycle and you get jolted awake
now you feel really tired and groggy because you haven't been able to complete that sleep cycle. Anyways, this isn't a topic we need to...
But honestly, it's about timing.
Maybe that's what I should do.
Maybe that's what I should start doing is dialing back my sleep.
Not necessarily dialing it back, but finding the window of when you feel awake, get up.
We're going to do a thing on this podcast.
Wait, I guess you have your phone
on every time every night what i'm trying to think of something a way that we could like
mark the exact time that i wake up because i can almost tell you it's probably within a 15 minute
window every because your body is the most awake because you just completed a sleep cycle more than likely that's what i'm saying but like every night i wake up at like within a 15 minute window oh in the middle of
the night yeah like we're like 4 15 like three yeah and it'll go for like a week like i'll wake
up at like 4 15 4 15 4 15. Put a journal next to your bed.
I bet we could dial... I bet I could...
My brain would dial it in like 15 minutes.
Like intervals.
Do it.
Like within that time.
That'd be pretty cool.
That'd be a pretty cool thing.
That would be a pretty cool thing.
Hey.
To have like...
My brain intentionally wakes me up at like 415.
Yeah, where does your brain wake you up, bro?
Yeah.
Mine wakes me up at, like, 4.15.
You wake up at, like, 12 a.m.?
Fucking pussy shit.
My brain wakes me up at 4.15 on the dot.
Hell yeah, man.
Let's wait for you to drink.
Oh, brother.
What another rousing...
What?
I splashed my eyeballs. What another rousing... What? I splashed my eyeballs.
What another rousing episode of the Grass Studies Podcast.
And if I have to record another podcast on this one, I am buying a new boot.
That's how it works around here.
I feel your pain.
Sometimes you got to put yourself in the other person's shoes.
You want to just go ahead and record three tonight?
