Starting point is 00:06:09 So, this week we told you about Sonny Austin boasting that she was the lone jury. who got a maniac off a murder charge, a fiend who had butchered a woman and fed her body parts to the homeless. Here it is if you didn't see it. I feel so strongly about this holdout jurors because I was a holdout juror. I don't know if people remember it,
Starting point is 00:06:29 the butcher of Tompkins Square Park. The guy who ate the victims? Yes. I'm in the New York Times. And apparently several jurors questioned afterwards said one holdout juror was principally responsible A Sancion.
Starting point is 00:06:43 Preventing them from returning a guilty verdict. That was me. And it was because I saw clearly that he was psychotic. He did not mean to kill her. And once he killed her, he panicked. He, he chopped up her body parts. Yes, boiled her body parts. Tried to commit the perfect crime. And then fed her. And you got this guy off? And no, no. That's how much I believe in the insanity defense. We were sequester for nine days. One juror threw a chair at me. They were so angry with me. But one by one, I picked them off and said, what about this, what about that? And we ended up all 12 unanimously voting that he was not criminally responsible. Okay. Yeah, it's I mean, all she did was retell the plot to 12 angry men.
Starting point is 00:07:32 She simply replaced the 16-year-old defendant with a guy who took finger food too far. And it didn't take long for others to see that her story had more. holes than the changing room in my guest bedroom. First, New York Daily News wrote that the actual holdout was an unemployed man who wanted to extend his $15 a day juror's fee. The New York Post also reported at the time, writing, they ultimately compromised to appease the unemployed juror. So Sonny's either lying or she's trans.
Starting point is 00:08:07 Now there's one report from Newsday that said there were two holdouts, one being the unemployed man, the other wasn't identified, which could have been sunny, except, and this is key, she was quoted as saying, yes, we believe he did it. I believe he butchered the body and almost committed the perfect crime. He knew what he was doing. That doesn't sound like a holdout. And in the Newsday piece, she added, it was obvious that he, quote, literally got away with murder. That does not sound like someone who triumph by picking off the jurors one by one. So in other words, Sonny sounds like she's guilty of stolen juror valor. Now, those accounts were given while memories were fresh.
Starting point is 00:08:52 Hosten's version arrived 35 years later in a segment that somehow made her the star. Thank goodness lying doesn't set your pants on fire because no one wants to see that. Now, she's still sticking to her story telling the post, I was the holdout juror. And you know what? I believe her. I mean, I believe that she believes it because she's nuts. Think about the stories she's told before. Earlier this month, she claimed she was the victim of Hollywood racism
Starting point is 00:09:22 because they won't adapt her smut novels into movies. Right. This is the same Hollywood that just made Helen of Troy a black woman. If they had their way, George Washington would be played by George Jefferson. Three years ago, she claimed Jim Jordan screamed at her during a hearing when the tape shows he never even addressed her. That same year, she told a tale of getting revenge on a boyfriend by breaking into his home, stealing all his phones
Starting point is 00:09:50 and throwing them on the highway. Now, that story is true. I caught it all on my security cams. But what's the common thread? Sunny Smollett retrovits a dramatic role onto events, placing herself at the center of stories that are hard to check. Hell, here's a picture she shared when she claimed she took out bin Laden. Now, the view is going to run a correction on this.
Starting point is 00:10:24 That is not her. Now, with the cannibal, she says she saw the psychosis with perfect clarity. She dodged furniture. She single-handedly flipped 11 angry people. Isn't it an amazing coincidence that the details that have no independent source also make her the hero? Sounds just like a movie. She's always the decisive moral actor and narratives that can't be unproved,
Starting point is 00:10:51 and she's the one who saw the truth that others missed. But when someone tells many stories in which they are the indispensable hero, with details no one else can back up, you've got to wonder, is Sunny full of it or full of herself? Maybe she's insane, a defense she can finally use on herself. Listen ad-free with a Fox News podcast plus subscription on Apple Podcasts.
