Welcome to Guys, the podcast about guys.
I am Brian.
We have our good buddy Chris here.
Hi, Chris.
Oh, hi, Bri.
Yeah.
Big swimming guy?
No, I was thinking about it.
You know, I like to do mental research.
It's known as mental research where I don't look into anything or read.
Well, I don't, I mean, outwardly, I don't do anything.
But internally, I'm doing research in my mind to remember if I,
I mean, I swam.
My friend had a pool like down the street.
So we would go and swim in his pool quite a bit when I was younger.
But what about you?
I told you.
I grew up with a pool.
Of course.
But I haven't swam.
I swam like four times.
Let's get the guest on.
We got Raina Doris on the show.
Hi, Raina.
Hey, guys.
Do you swim?
I do swim.
Did you grow up around like public pool or did you have a home pool?
No, we, we, we, we do swim.
went to the public pool, I desperately wanted
a pool my whole childhood
and would beg my parents and they were like
absolutely not. First of all, it's expensive.
They said I would never use it.
I believe I would have. But yeah,
public pools. I spent
about, and I'm just going to get
two years fighting
with the people I live with, about
a pool. And like, I won
because it was absurd
what they wanted to do.
They wanted to put a pool in the
backyard of a rental.
Okay, yeah, that doesn't make sense.
In the grass.
And they're like, why would they care?
It's like, come on, you know,
they usually the landlords care about the grass quite a bit.
I feel like putting a pool in is a pretty big change for a rental.
I don't know if the landlord would be fine with that.
They want a one of those crappy ones, right?
Like, you can get one for 400 bucks.
We'll read a couple of reviews later on.
Like they have these like the best ones, $400 and it's not good.
It's like above ground.
We're talking obviously about.
above ground pools, but like, are they the inflatable ones or they're not inflatable, no,
they're, they're, it's really kind of like sitting in a bucket. Like they have filters and everything
on them. Mm-hmm. You know what I mean? Like they're, they're like three feet, four feet and they got
filters on them. Apparently, filters do not work well. I mean, it's a pool and all of them have a leak.
None of them make it past one year. None of them. Like an important oversight. Yeah. Some of, some of them
they come and like I was reading a review after review of like I just put it up and it's leaking
and it seems one guy was like hey there's grass growing through the liner in my pool that's kind of
cool like that's kind of that's kind of cool look I was I was just thinking how it seems to me as
I don't necessarily it doesn't sound like I have a lot in common with these pools you're referring
to because you said that they have a built-in filter whereas I got no filter oh you are that's what
that's a mothership joke Chris is
a mothership jokes these days.
I'm doing a lot of on the bonus episode,
if you listen to the most recent bonus episode,
I've been doing a lot of those
types of jokes and I've been hearing
a lot of positive response. They say
we really love the humor that you bring to the show
and we want you to do more of it.
Finally able to say what you need
to say, what you really want to say.
Yeah, finally,
Brian, well, there was like,
I don't want to get into all the stuff behind the scenes, but there was
like a two year sort of contract
situation where I wasn't able to say
certain things and now that has run out and I'm totally unfiltered now.
He will not be getting paid anymore though.
Well, that's totally fine.
You know what I mean?
That's, yeah, that is part of the new contract that we have is that I'm losing my
3% that I got from the Patreon.
But it's as far as I'm concerned, it's worth it to be able to say what I want to say
and to be a man of the people.
The price of speaking truth to power.
Exactly.
And I'm power, obviously.
So it's funny.
Last week we did pool guys.
like playing pool
yeah
we are stupid
and next week we're doing
dead pool guys
yeah Brian's
Brian's now
it seems like Brian's idea now
as to every single episode
now is going to have a pool in it
he was talking to me
about whirlpool guys
like that was Colin
John you gotta give John Colin credit
for the whirlpool guys
yeah just I'm I am worried
for the listeners sake
that they did every single episode
from here on out
is going to relate to pool in some way.
Well, it would be nice to have a fourth one, but I don't think it's happening.
Well, we talked about like office pools, office pools.
That was what the only other kind I could think of.
Yeah, like office pools, like, you know, how you have a sports pool or whatever, but,
but Brian said it would be hard to find stuff on that, but maybe look into it a little bit more
because that does seem like the obvious fourth choice.
So with the pool guys last week, there was a lot of talk about honor.
they're very honorable men
the pool guys they
they don't cheat one guy even
claimed to be the most honorable pool
player in the country
I feel like cheating could get you in a lot of trouble
if you're at like a pool
bar yeah and
it was interesting though Raina because there was like
a discussion of
hey this guy didn't call
his shot technically
you know what I mean like in the in the rules
you're supposed to call your pocket but it was very obvious
that he was shooting for that box
and he decided the person who lost the game,
his captain was like,
you should tell him,
you know,
you should make a complaint or whatever.
And the guy was honorable and he was like,
no,
I know he was making the right.
Brian said that he would win at all costs and he would.
And I said that I wouldn't.
I personally am not a win at all cost kind of guy.
I'm interested where you fall on that.
If you would report somebody,
even though you know that they were shooting for the right pocket.
I'm on Brian's side here.
If you're playing a game, you better follow the rules.
That's the whole point.
Without the rules, it'll descend it to chaos.
And you're on a team?
Also, a big news, big news.
Let's just give big news right off the top here, six minutes in.
Katie looked at me the other day.
We were at a Mexican restaurant.
I always get Choi boy over there every time.
I get it.
I love it.
I love the chorizo on top of the cheese on top of the chicken.
And I get it.
I'm over there.
She looks at me and she goes,
I thought you were chopping eat as you go.
Oh, wow.
Guess what?
I apparently am not.
Well, okay, so yesterday I went and got steak and I chopped and eat as I go.
But apparently...
Chop and eat as you go is a crazy way to eat.
We've discussed it.
No, it's the normal way according to people.
I chop first and then I...
And then I heat.
No, but you chop all of your food up.
I'll chop the whole thing.
You chop.
You chop and eat as you go?
No, chop and eat as you go.
I want it to just be ready to go.
No, chop first.
Say I get a steak.
I will chop it up first.
Yeah, chop and eat is the chop.
And the chop and eat as you go is each per.
You slice eat.
Oh, that's right.
So you're the opposite of chop and eat as you go because I will say, Raina, that to me,
that is not the way that you should eat.
But to each their own, it's it doesn't, you know, it doesn't affect me in any way.
It's rude.
But I don't care about that.
I definitely chop and eat as you go.
I feel like it's distracting if I know I've got more work to do.
I want to just enjoy.
I understand that.
I do understand that.
But I will say that I've become pretty good at chopping up a steak.
So I feel like I can't do it while I do other stuff.
I just wanted to let people know I did lie on the episode, but not intentionally.
I wanted to look normal.
Okay.
Well, when you're out at a restaurant, I can see wanting to like put on a show a little bit.
Oh, look at me.
Oh, look at me, chopper.
and eating as they go.
Okay, so this is the first thing I found and I loved it so much.
I'm going to share the screen.
The reason I brought up the pool guys honor is because other pool guys have quite a bit
of honor to the swimming pool guys.
So this guy goes to a hotel and he posted a picture says hotel swimming pool is green.
It's very green.
It's very green.
It's very great.
Now, I grew up with a pool.
And sometimes it gets green and I'm just I, we just would swim.
We didn't care.
We didn't care if it was cloudy.
We didn't care if it was green as long as we could get in a pool and swim.
Because I swam a lot as a teenager, but we used to play Marco Polo a lot.
And like if you were it, you would get the living shit beat out of you.
Like not, I'm not even exaggerating as in like they would roll up these mats that were like hard foam mats and they'd throw them at your head.
and while your eyes are closed
and they, you know, smack you and, like,
grab your foot and dunk you under.
And it was just like nightmare.
Marco Polo.
Speaking of no honor,
I feel like doing that to someone with their eyes shut is pretty unfair.
He is literally a member of a gang that is like specialized in violence.
That's the thing that you have to understand.
It's not like a normal childhood type situation.
It's like these are hardened criminals who would stop at nothing to inflict pain on anybody
around though. Over time I was like
you know what I'm not getting in a pool.
To avoid being
beat up. Just because they
soiled it for me the whole thing
and now when I get in a pool
it just reminds me of getting
I mean truly the crap beat out
of me. Yeah you have to also understand he was
he was one of the like
very lowly members of the gang
so he would have been I guess like
I was like a top guy but they
sometimes people come for the king
if the they would let yeah
like they would know him as you like a whipping boy I guess or something like that would be a good
way to describe he wrote in the trunk when they had to know that's the whole different thing I wrote in
a trunk as a concession to my friends because I was the smallest guy and we needed to get somewhere
somebody needed a ride in a trunk I was like you know what guys I'll ride in the trunk you know I
I will say I was a lifeguard for a while when I was in high school and I have a very firm
anti-horseplay stance.
I hate horseplay.
When there's a pool.
Yeah, I mean, that makes sense.
That would be bred into you for, as being a lifeguard from that age, it would be like,
yeah, you saw horseplay and you probably saw people getting hurt from horseplay.
Get a nose playing.
You can hit your head.
It was the, it was, it's probably the number one thing that you're looking out for as a lifeguard.
So, yeah, I got to say, I was a big, I used to engage in a lot of horseplay.
I did too.
I was no doubt about it.
I was doing course play constantly.
I would have been an absolute nightmare for you at the pool.
That's my biggest fear was that someone was going to do something
and I actually have to use the skills that I learned.
Of course.
I was a big runner too.
Back when we used to go to public pools when I was a kid,
I was running all the time.
I was running and it was like,
I could feel that it was wet under my feet and slippery as well.
So I could like feel that at any moment I could slip and hurt myself,
but I was a runner as well.
I was running all over the place.
It feels wrong.
If I still have the sense memory of running next to a pool.
I love that.
Thinking about that is making me anxious right now.
Yeah, no, I did love it too.
It's a great memory for me running beside the pool for sure.
And like jumping over the corners, you know, like running around and then jumping the corners to get around quicker.
Yeah.
We are currently staying at a hotel local to our home.
And the main reason is to have access to a swimming pool.
Wait, what?
These are the guys with the green pool at the hotel.
So this is a staycation situation.
Just to use the pool.
Just to use the pool.
The crumbiest pool, by the way.
Yeah, that would be a huge bummer.
If you guys saw the picture of this, it's like, it's really an ugly.
It's not nice and it's green and it's a horrible.
Imagine you're like, hey, let's go to a hotel specifically to use the pool and this is the pool you get.
I mean, all hotel pools suck.
There are no, I have never been to a hotel with a good pool ever in my life.
And I stay in some pretty nice joints.
I've been to a hotel with a good pool.
I will say that.
It was the,
I've mentioned it before
when they were doing construction on it
in Hollywood when we went there,
but it was the W Hotel.
Rooftop.
A rooftop pool.
That works.
Rooftop in L.A.
And it was very nice.
It shows up in TV shows and stuff like this.
It was a very nice,
well-kept pool.
And that's the last one I remember.
They're almost always too small, though.
Even if they're nice,
they're like,
what are you going to do?
And you're just going to sit there.
Yeah.
Yeah, the indoor ones, Brian,
I agree.
They're horrible.
The indoor ones are.
aren't good. But yeah, there's some outdoor pools depending on where you're at where they can be
pretty beautiful. I think. The place I, so the place I took my wife for our first anniversary was a hotel
that was just like this tall hotel near Groveport.
Tall. Like it was in a building. I'm going to take you to the tall hotel.
It's really kind of what I did. It was a helping. Everybody around town knows the tall hotel. Hey,
you can see it from everywhere for that.
We're going to be up there.
Yeah, pointing from your backyard.
In a couple of weeks, we're going to be up there.
If you saw where it was, it's in, it's, it's, you, it's an off ramp, basically.
There's an off ramp and there's a green space in the middle of it and there's a tall hotel.
That's a classic place for a hotel.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
It's gone now because they turned it into what's called Fort Rapids, which is a, uh, uh, uh,
one of those water parks that are inside of a hotel, right?
Like so you got the hotel, you got the water park, and then you can stay in a room.
I stayed at one called, um, I stayed at one, one year.
Fort Rapids or, are one of those things, right?
And, uh, I can't remember what the one I stayed in was called, but I did stay in one.
And what, what ended up happening with the one that I took Katie to on our anniversary,
which was not yet a water park.
It was classy at this time.
Okay.
It was not a water park.
I just want to clarify, I did not take my wife.
to a water park for our first anniversary.
I mean, it would make sense.
At that time in your life, it would not be odd for you to do that.
Yeah.
But what ended up happening is like the rooms all got like mold and stuff because it's
absurdly humid in a water park.
Yeah.
You know what I mean?
Yeah, it's not it's not conducive for, yeah, that's a bad idea.
And I'm sure everything smells like chlorine.
Like you walk into the water park.
lobby and it just smells like chlorine right away.
And an indoor pool is that, basically.
I mean, not like, it just, I always go in.
It feels nasty in the room, smells nasty.
A lot of times there's no windows, which is really weird choice.
Did either of you guys know anyone growing up who had an indoor pool?
No.
I've only seen one in my life.
Not like, I've only seen one in a house in my life.
Yeah, I've never seen.
I've never been inside of a house that has an indoor pool.
I don't think no.
It's like an unimaginable luxury.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It's like a bowling alley.
It's like when people are like there's a bowling alley in this house.
I'm like, you've got to be fucking kidding me.
That would be the best thing in the world.
That's like ultra rich stuff.
Yeah, I said my friend had a pool.
So we lived like in steveston right on the water kind of.
But like it's like a marshland or whatever.
And along the dike, which is the language.
I know.
But come on.
You know what I'm talking about.
But it, you know.
you know, there was every house had a pool there, like an outdoor pool.
But mine was kind of like inland and didn't have the pool.
But yeah, I spend a lot of time.
I've mentioned before too, we would do the thing where we jumped off of his balcony onto the...
Oh, no.
This is a nightmare.
This is massive horseplay.
We would jump off of the balcony onto the trampoline and into the pool.
People called 911 because we were jumping off our house into a four foot above ground pool.
Oh, God, that's even worse.
Yeah.
Two floor, by the way, a double.
So it was like a two-story.
Yeah, it was a split level that he lived in.
It feels like one of those videos.
Yeah, oh, it is in a lot of ways.
It very, well, not a lot of ways.
It's only in that way.
But to me, I picture that, Brian, and I used to see so many of those videos of people
severely injuring themselves where they'd be jumping off roofs into above-ground pools.
Well, it was also pointed out that above ground pools are different from in-ground pools
in that, like, a massive shock or wave could knock it over, like could just knock the whole pool over.
And we were all teenagers.
And my brother was doing cannonball.
Well, you weren't all.
You weren't all teenagers.
It was dynamite Jim Dandy.
Dynamite Jim Dandy did not jump off the roof.
I will say that.
He was not that bad.
He was a grown man who I got with Brian and his friends.
Okay, so he goes, this guy goes, he goes, I, okay, boy, I noticed it was green a little cloudy.
I made my kids get out.
They were in for about two minutes, maybe, and wash off.
Well, I went to talk to one of the hotel employees.
She came and looked and said it's always been green.
It's due to the liner of the pool and lighting in the room.
Maintenance, who takes care of the pool, was out for the weekend.
So she assured me it was safe.
I have testing strips at home.
and told her I would have my wife bring them when she meets us
and she told me to let her know the details.
I use the strips and the results of,
why does he have testing strip?
I just realized.
He's a pool guy.
What do you mean?
If you don't own a pool,
you're specifically going to a hotel and use the pool.
Why do you own these?
He's such a fan of pools.
He's such a pool guy that he's like,
I don't have one right now,
but obviously I'm going to get one
and I'm not going to be going to a lot of pools.
It's like, it makes sense to get testing strips.
This is like when I got my boat license
and I've like never had the opportunity to ever drive a boat.
And I was like one day though, I'll be ready.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I mean, I would love to drive a boat.
I'm with you.
I want a boat.
But I'm never going to get one.
I'm not allowed.
Well,
you live in a landlocked.
Oh, I guess you do have like a lake or whatever.
There's a river right over there by me.
Okay.
It's not a good one and it smells like poop all the time.
But it's still a river.
I'm not an expert in pool care, but did help take care of my parents' pool and the water was
always clear when cared for appropriately.
Something seems off, but we'll be interested to know the thoughts.
of those who are more educated on this than I am.
Thanks in advance for your help.
So first of all, I like the brag.
I like the little brag.
I used to take care of my parents' pool.
One of the clearest pools you're ever going to see in your life.
It's winning awards.
Yeah.
This guy goes, she's BSing you.
Test shows no chlorine and it's green.
It means more likely than not.
It actually has no chlorine.
Oh.
She most likely won't admit fault for legal reasons since it's a host.
I don't think she knows.
They're making it seem like this lady's doing some huge cover-up, but I don't think she knows, right?
The maintenance people would be the ones that know about that.
And they're off for the weekend.
It is the key of being, first of all, there's no way the maintenance people are off.
Yeah, a whole weekend.
You have no other maintenance people.
Yeah, because one of them's on call, Chris.
You can't just not have maintenance men.
At a hotel?
At a hotel, you need to have full coverage on the shifts.
You're right.
And because the people are often using,
I've found that people often use hotels on the weekends as well.
It's not a Monday to Friday type situation.
Yeah.
And also that like you can't tell somebody,
oh, they'll be in Monday and they'll fix it.
You know what I mean?
Yeah, because there are issues that need to be.
I mean, Brian knows full well that there are issues.
I don't have issues anymore.
Well, there's issues with possibly the toilets at a hotel.
No, that doesn't happen anymore.
And so you might need to get the,
because you don't shit in your own hotel room.
Yeah, you're right.
Wait, is that a thing?
That's truly, I don't know why so many people don't know that.
My wife and I have lived by the, and my daughter have lived by the don't ever shit in your hotel.
It's bad.
It's a small room.
You should crap.
I think it depends on what you're working with back there, to be honest.
I think for some people.
If you're alone, it's fine.
If you're alone, it's obviously fine.
But if you're staying in a hotel and you're crap in the bathroom with another person,
And you're basically being like, hey, man, smell my crap.
It's different.
A lot of hotel bathrooms don't have fans.
And some of them have those sliding doors that don't shut all the way.
So I could see if it's a bunch of you staying there, I could see how that would work.
But it seems really inconvenient to have to go down to the lobby.
It's very important to do so, though.
I think that's a, I don't know.
I guess it's not like a common etiquette thing.
No, I think it's, I think you're right on this.
I think you're right on this.
Because everybody we talk to is like, what?
No, I don't think that's true.
I think people do agree with you on this.
I think it is a common etiquette thing where if you're staying with other, you know, your wife or whatever in a hotel room, then you're not going to drop a huge shit in the in the hotel room.
I think that that is, yeah.
Get ready for a riff, guys.
Oh, nice.
The pool is cement and doesn't have a liner.
They're full of shit.
Maybe the pool too.
Oh, sure.
Underrated comment.
Wait, who said underrated comment?
Next guy.
And then this next one's good.
Seriously, it sounds like you heard about the White House for Flores.
pool incident and suddenly became a novice in gaslighting.
Oh, nice.
I know the thing where they said that stuff was falling off and they arrested the Olympic guy.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, there's so many White House reflecting pool jokes in the pool subreddit because obviously
that's probably the biggest news story of their lives.
Yeah, this is huge for them.
They're like, I can fix it.
I can fix it.
They should just call me.
And like, they very rarely probably have things to riff about in the news, right?
Like there's rarely a big news story that is seriously pool related.
And if there's a pool problem, it's like somebody died in it.
It's like there's no riffing.
They're not funny.
They're not funny stories or whatever.
Pool pro here.
Pool pro here.
Don't worry.
Pool pro here.
Cool pro here.
Do not swim.
A call to the local environmental health department will get this pool shut down immediately.
Zero sanitizer is the root cause of the green water.
It's a big no-no.
The water is also super still in the photo.
I'm sorry, they say that a lot.
It's a pool.
It's a pool.
It's not a hot tub.
It doesn't have jet or,
there are pool jets, right?
There are.
They want to see,
but normally when you see a pool,
it is,
the water is still.
When you see one in a picture,
it's very still.
Extremely.
Yeah, that's a good point.
I would imagine,
I would imagine that like you,
okay, if this pool,
this one random hotel is like this.
That means,
think about how many hotels,
with pools there are and how many
probably kind of do look like that
and if it's that much of a dangerous thing
to do wouldn't we be hearing about people getting
sick from hotel pools all the time
yeah I mean
he's probably right in
some way but you're right in that like
I think
they maybe take it more seriously
than the normal person would I mean
we're pool am amateurs obviously
we're pool stupid idiots we're not
we don't have our own testing kit
I yeah
I ran out of my testing kit last week.
I don't have any either.
You're right.
You guys, we probably would, if the pool got cloudy, take a glass to the pool store like a fucking idiot.
Oh, yeah.
Like a little jar.
Oh, don't ever say you took the water to the pool store.
Don't, these people will not let it go because they're like, pool store doesn't know anything about pools.
Yeah, take it to me.
Bring it to my host.
Here's my address.
If you want real info.
Get a real testing kit.
Yeah, yeah, get a real testing kit.
Order your own testing kit.
Yeah, because if you go to the pool store, they'll get it wrong 100% of the time.
And it depends.
It's like, are you going there to ask about their pool that they sold you?
Because then they're biased.
You know, then they're like, no, it's all good.
It's all perfect, right?
They also want to sell you chemicals.
Yeah.
Oh, yeah.
They want to sell you chemicals, of course.
Yeah.
That's the big thing at a pool store.
So is the pool base, this guy goes, so is the pool base painted green?
That's the only reasonable way I'd be swimming in that.
Otherwise, there's something wrong with it.
And this guy goes.
If so, I know a guy who might be interested in their work except for blue.
Wait, what?
Reflecting pool.
Oh, that's a reflecting pool joke.
And then this guy goes, I thought he preferred orange paint.
Oh, God.
How did he do the joke I was about to do?
He did the joke before.
That commenter stepped on my joke.
Imagine how excited people would have been if he'd done the reflecting pool orange.
Oh, my God.
On people's minds.
Yeah.
I went to Camel.
Kansas City one, or no, it was St. Louis, one of the two.
You probably went to both.
I mean, you have been to both.
Yeah.
I'm going to, well, it's over, but I'm going to Lexington this weekend.
Oh, really?
Are you going to see any friends?
I'm going to see the Trill Billy's Live show that happened last week.
That's exciting.
Yeah, yeah.
So anyway, I went to, and they were like, baseball season was starting.
And, you know, the Cardinals, they turned the water red in these downtown fountains.
it was honestly the coolest thing
I've ever seen in my life.
It's like a blood fountain.
Yeah, it just looked like a blood fountain.
I was like, this is fucking awesome.
Oh, yeah.
You're like, this is fucking metal.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
This is a heavy metal, dude.
This guy goes,
this guy goes, not a green paint of pool
and the water is green.
And then the O.P. replies,
it goes, I don't think so.
But now that you say it,
I'll take a closer look at the morning.
He didn't look at the color of the,
like that would be the first thing I would think to do.
Like, maybe the pool.
Well, yeah, you need to get a glass.
You need to take the water out to see it on its own in a clear glass.
This guy goes, how can you know it needs 10?
Oh, so somebody told me he needs about 10 pounds of chlorine.
And this guy goes, how can you know it needs 10 pounds without knowing volume?
And then he gets a reply, oh, honey, 40 years in a pool biz.
What's your experience?
Name it.
Oh, honey.
Oh, honey.
Oh, honey.
Oh, child.
Do men say, oh, honey, to each other?
I've never heard in my life.
It must be a woman.
I think it's a woman, probably.
I'm not trying to be, you know, but I think that is a woman saying, oh, honey.
Yeah.
If it is a man, it's awesome.
It's so awesome if it's a man.
Because that's condescending.
It's condescending, but I think also you will hear it from like a gay man.
We'll say that as well.
Oh, honey.
You know, they'll say that as well.
This guy goes, I don't trust test strips.
but even if the water was green for a valid reason like lighting or water, it wouldn't also be cloudy, honestly.
After the story of Marie Joseph drowned and took days to fine due to pool conditions, I really have little grace to extend to those in charge of pool safety, especially for those who lie or try to brush it off, since if this were me, I'd report the hotel, the unsafe conditions to the highest authority.
I would call the, yeah, I mean, good luck.
He called the president.
He's going to be like, hey, there's nothing wrong with that.
It looks like my reflecting pool.
Give me a break.
This guy goes,
well,
anyone who goes to a hotel for the pool is begging for issues.
Wait,
wait,
what?
No,
it seems unfair.
They're just saying that all hotel pools are bad.
Is that what the person's saying?
Right.
And yeah,
he probably has his own crystal clear home pool.
Oh my God.
You know what I mean?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I just want to go back for one second to the previous guy here who said that like compared
it to,
somebody being lost in a pool and they couldn't get her out because of pool, like this pool is a
hotel pool. It is not big. You know, what is? I know, right? The dead lady comes up every once in a
while when somebody has a cloudy pool. They're like, you know, a dead, a woman drowned and they didn't
find her for a couple days because the pool was cloudy. I think you find the person in this pool. Yeah.
And she drowned. That's unrelated to the pool conditions. Like, I'm trying to understand. I don't know this
story. I'm not a pool. But the pool condition problem is she's at the bottom of the pool.
pool dead.
Yeah.
And people kept swimming in there because that's what they're saying, but come on.
I see.
You notice in a hotel pool like that.
I mean, we'd have to know more information about this.
And we're never going to look up more information.
I don't want to look up more information about this lady who laid the bottom of pool dead
for days.
He goes, anyone who goes to a hotel for the pool is begging for issues.
I have never all caps swam in a hotel pool.
Why?
Because it's always bad.
I have not once seen a properly.
balanced hotel pool. Multiple times couldn't see the bottom or was green. Have heard people getting warts
and other stuff from public pools? Not. Using the jacuzzi is even worse. Yeah, I would say a jacuzzi
is probably pretty disgusting too. I don't know though. I've definitely used pools at a hotel,
like when I was younger and stuff. I've swamming them before and I didn't, I didn't get any warts from it at all.
There is a real bias, I think, from some people. I've always found this very weird, but some people are very
against any pool that's like shared in a public
Oh yeah
public way where like they're just like I'm not going in there
it's disgusting but I've always thought that was a little bit like
a little weird to care that much.
It's because guys like if you're a guy
about things then there's always the extremely paranoid one
that is a know it all that knows better than everybody else
and they have in their mind these like pitfalls
that they've created where they're like,
there's not enough bromine in the pool.
We got to fix that.
You know what I mean?
Like I could take a simple glance at this
and see the bromine levels are disgustingly low.
And yet you're going to swim in there.
Okay, you do your thing.
Yeah, that seems like the kind of guy that we're dealing with.
Well, here's a guy.
But the worst thing that can happen is you get a warp.
I feel like it's not that high stakes.
It's not.
It's not that high.
But to them it is.
But to them it is.
It's the highest of stakes.
Okay, here's a really weird. This is a weird guy. I needed to include them here.
I want to ask this pool owner if I can fill and use their pool to test my product.
I would go to a local apartment complex, but my product involves chemicals that I'm sure will scare anybody working their way, working their way with the liabilities.
Luckily, I found this empty pool at a house. But I know if someone walked up to my house asking to fill my pool with water and run tests with chemicals, I'd hope they would have all their facts straight.
So I'm doing that for these people by figuring out what I need.
From the pictures, from the pictures.
I got from behind the fence.
It seems all I need to do is take the deputies.
Sorry, back up there for a second.
From what pictures?
I mean, I think you might be more concerned with like criminal lurking charge or whatever.
I mean.
Just showing up at someone's house with a bunch of pictures.
pictures of their backyard saying, hey, can I try my experimental chemicals in your pool?
I thought you might be put off by this.
I thought you might be put off by me asking to use my experimental chemicals in the pool.
So what I did was I took a bunch of creep shots of you swimming.
Well, no, there's no water in the pool.
Oh, okay.
But it is funny to be like, I jumped your fence and snuck into the bushes.
Like, yeah, like a paparazzi, like a pool parazzi.
A pool parazzi.
Sorry, that's for my kiltony.
That's for my kiltony.
he goes this is one of the weirdest guys ever because it's an insane thing to ask
yeah and there are solutions these guys come up with for this as in spend a hundred
dollars or spend fifty dollars on a baby pool yeah that's what I was just thinking do you
does this yeah he could just get a little I mean you don't even need to couldn't you just
do it in a large like bucket maybe it depends how much chemicals yeah maybe he needs to use
He needs, yeah, yeah, yeah.
He goes, all I need to do is take the debris out and fill the water and chlorine.
The only thing I worry about is the paint falling off.
I don't think I want this guy's chemical in my pool.
Yeah, that would cost so much money to fix.
It's funny to be like, I want to put a chemical in my neighbor's pool.
It'll probably eat the paint off, though, so I'm worried about that.
Also, if it eats off paint, I don't want to swim in that.
Yeah, I think that I don't think he's,
this is a swimming thing even.
Oh, he's not,
I don't know what it is.
This guy,
I don't think it's a swimming.
Oh,
he's just testing chemicals.
Yeah, he's testing chemicals,
I think,
and something,
like it does,
I think it maybe has something to do it,
but I think he recognizes,
like he said,
this would scare off people.
So I don't think he's thinking this is like,
I'm going to put that in there,
and then you're going to swim in the pool,
you know?
This might be a little weird.
He gets a reply,
you need your own pool to do the testing.
The fact that wasn't your first thought seems like
your business is sketchy.
What?
No, I don't know if I would call the guy taking photos over the fence of stranger pool sketchy.
Once he's successful with these chemicals, he'll have enough money to buy his own pool and that'll all be sorted out.
Also, with businesses comes the insurance coverage you'll need for this work and testing.
You'll also need to be aware if there are any environmental issues with pumping out contaminated water.
Again, all seems sketchy.
This guy goes, this guy, bad advice.
I love bad Reddit advice.
It's my favorite thing.
I would be all about the money.
If that was my pool and you asked me, I would likely say no.
If on the other hand, you offered me $100,000 to Tesla, I would say yes.
It doesn't sound to me like this guy's got $100,000 laying around.
I don't want to be judgmental, but I don't think.
He would say yes for $100,000.
Well, yeah, I mean, that's a lot of money.
I guess, and it's like it would seem like he would still be.
taking the liability and stuff like that in a lot of ways.
So I would probably do that.
But yeah, I don't think this guy's got 100 grand.
But if you offer me a 100 grand attested there, I would say yes.
$50,000, probably.
$10,000?
Well, maybe.
$1,000, probably not.
But maybe for a thousand dollars.
That's such a gulf between $100,000 and a thousand.
Hearing that, hearing those numbers, I would definitely offer this guy $1,200 to do it.
It sounds like he would bite him.
on that.
He's $1,000 and saying
probably, uh, probably
probably not for a thousand, but maybe.
Starting at 100,000 of working your way down to a thousand and being like,
honestly, I'd probably just take a grand.
Negotiating, going in for negotiation, be like, all right, I want $100,000 in
compensation.
50,000.
Yeah, I'd probably take that.
10,000, most likely.
5,000, I don't know what thousand, maybe.
that's called Brian negotiating.
Why don't I pay you?
Yeah.
Yeah, this guy goes, well, I'm curious.
There are plenty of R&D going on in a pool industry.
Can't you try it in a kiddie pool at home first?
And this guy, and OP comes back, goes, I could.
It just would not give me the same amount of information on my product than a real pool would.
Even though there's a chemical involved, it's more about testing the device, which will be the best tested in a place.
There's a device?
It's a device.
It's apparently a chemical and a device.
There's a device involved in it as well.
I didn't know there was so much R&D happening in the pool space to begin with.
I thought we kind of figured that out by me.
Yeah, I didn't realize that there was a lot of people out there doing this kind of stuff.
Yeah.
So I found that guy.
And I was like, wow, that's weird.
And so then I find this.
Clearing a neighbor's pool without access to their backyard.
My neighbor's pool is completely green.
when the husband lived there
he took good care of the pool
the house was empty for a while
and he asked me to take care of the pool
which I did at no charge
then the wife moved back then
and locked the gate
they're going through a divorce
and the wife is ignoring the pool
she has no idea of how to take care of a
I just too love this
because this guy's like
they're going through a divorce
there's all of this stuff going around
and this guy's just looking at his window
being like will somebody think of the pool
please
why won't somebody think of the pool?
I mean, that's honestly, in these divorces,
that's what really suffers at the end of the day
is these pools, you know?
Also, it's like this stupid woman.
Yeah, of course.
But when he was around, he would take care of it.
This woman's got no idea about pH levels or I don't even,
I don't even know the terminology to, yeah.
This guy's going to swoop in.
This is a great opportunity for this guy.
Swoop in, clean this lady's pool.
Yeah.
And maybe he'll, maybe seduce her with that.
Totally.
Totally.
and be like, hey, sweetheart, I noticed your pool's a little great.
She could get with the pool boy.
Yeah, I mean, that's a classic trope.
You're right.
A pool boy.
I mean, it sounds like this guy's an old man, but still.
Pool man.
I'm getting with the pool elderly man.
Yeah, I'm sort of having a bit of an affair with the pool boy.
They see him and he's like 75-year-old guy wearing a bucket hat.
he goes she has no he goes she has no he goes she has no idea of how to take care of a pool
it doesn't have the money to hire someone i'd do it for free but she won't talk to anyone because
she thinks that all the neighbors are against her well it sounds like you kind of are yeah i mean you
yeah you're judging her about her pool maybe you could like i don't know what the really but
you could leave a note that says like hey i was looking after the pool for if you would like me to
to do that. I have no problem doing that. You could potentially do that. I don't know what the
relationship is or whatever and that maybe that would be, yeah, weird or like creeper out or something.
But yeah, that could be. You could just say, hey, I'm willing to do this.
The other neighbor's concerned, too. He wanted to throw some chlorine tab.
But they were talking. The neighbors are talking about it. So you saw it, right? Yeah, yeah. No, I saw it.
It's green as hell. She's going through a real rough time. No, yeah. We need to.
You can't even get out of the house to look at it.
She's so depressed, I guess, or something.
I don't know.
I wouldn't be taking care of the pool.
He goes, he wanted to throw some chlorine tablets over the fence into the pool.
I don't think that's a great idea.
Well, wait a second, a drone situation where the drone is holding the chlorine tablets and then drops them over there.
That might work.
I mean, what's the harm?
Yeah, what's the harm?
I mean, you imagine he, he, because there's going to be some suggestions.
on how to get this done in a thread.
But imagine he clears the pool without the knowledge of the woman that lives there.
So fantastic.
But I was also thinking that wouldn't that be strange to her?
No, I mean, she's probably got she probably doesn't know anything about pools.
She's like, oh, I guess nature did it on its own or something because she's so ignorant to pools.
Like, you know what I'm saying?
Wouldn't she be like, hey, why is the pool?
Why is the pool?
Perfect.
Why is the pool changing colors and getting clean on its own?
And yeah, I feel like her.
first, your first suspicion would be that someone's breaking into your yard.
Yeah.
It would be weird.
And then, yeah.
It's honestly, it's a good, nice thing to do.
I'm not saying that, like, taking care of the pool isn't like a nice thing to do.
But even when somebody sometimes will do a really nice thing, it could come off as weird and unsettling.
Yeah, of course.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And things are doing it without your knowledge.
Yeah.
And things are changing around you and you don't know why.
And yeah, your first suspect would probably be the guy who's constantly looking at.
his window next door at the pool.
Talking pointing at it with the neighbors.
Yeah, talking about it with the neighbors.
Outside, it's like a big group of neighbors and he's just over there going.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, you see it?
Yeah.
It's crazy.
It's green.
Holding up like a piece of green paper to show him how green it is.
I've been peeking over the fence.
It's this green.
He goes, uh, uh, I don't think that's a great idea.
Some packets of shock will be better, but I don't know how.
we do that. I was thinking of somehow using a hose and one of those liquid fertilizer dispensers
and filling it with chlorine or shock powder and shooting over the fence into the pool. Oh,
that's a, that's a good idea. Oh, yeah. Shoot, shoot chlorine out of a hose over the fence into the pool.
I mean, that seems like I could go wrong in a lot of ways. So they're worried about mosquitoes, but
Oh, okay. I was like, are they worried about this woman not being able to swim? It doesn't seem like
she really wants to, but mosquitoes make sense.
But you can also do stuff in your yard to mitigate the problem of mosquitoes that you
don't have to do something in somebody else's yard.
You get what I'm saying?
Yeah, yeah.
Like, there are ways there's Citronella can't.
There's all kinds of, but can't you just what is, it sounds to me like something like,
can't you just knock on her door?
She doesn't want to talk to anyone.
Yeah, she doesn't want to talk to you.
She doesn't want to talk to you.
She doesn't want to talk to.
against me she goes and knocks on the door you're all against me you're all against me because of what
i've done to this beautiful pool yeah it sounds like it is a pool first community like it is a very
much that they're concerned mostly with the pool and yeah yeah she probably is she can't handle a
pool she listen and it's fine i i could never have a pool after watching my dad take care of that
pool i grew up with it's hell it's constantly you stick the things in you're testing
it you're like how much chlorine do I need how much of this how much of that like having a pool
is like the same way they describe having a boat like to the point where if you have like a really
nice pool you have to just hire a guy yeah because like you can't possibly do it on your own
without out you got to spend a lot of time on trouble feed pools dot com trouble free pools dot com
they'll give you like a whole there's a whole thing over there they'll tell you exactly how
form I've ever been to in my life.
I couldn't find any funny stuff.
They were all just so helpful.
Just a bunch of people helping each other out with their goals.
I hated it.
This guy goes,
get a bunch of bags of shock and poke holes in them.
Throw it into the pool.
Won't fix everything,
but it'll keep down on the smelling bugs.
But how far away is the pool?
I guess this depends,
right?
If the pool is right on the other side of the fence.
Yes.
It sounds like maybe that's the case,
so that's why they could do it with the hose.
I don't, yeah.
I think the hose is,
I think he knows.
needs it has to reach a bit i don't think it's like right on his fence line i think these are people
guessing that it's on his fence line this guy goes he goes yeah it might help but i don't want the
plastic ending up in the skimmer which is probably already fool i could clean up the pool in just
a few days with the stuff i have from my pool and by cleaning the cartridge filters if i can convince
her to let me do it okay so she just really will not talk to you at all i mean it's i'm interested
as to why they're not able to have any kind of communication.
Maybe he's a friend of the old neighbor, the guy.
It does sort of speak to how men and women maybe react differently in a divorce situation
because like men will escape into something like the pool, right?
Where they're like, it's not 100% of the time, but I think they're more so to be like,
all right, well, I'll just go out and look after the pool, you know?
Like, that's how I'll get through the day, whereas she's like, I got other stuff going on
It's like I can't I don't worry about this fucking pool I'm like my life is changing in all of these ways, you know? Yeah. Yeah. Thinking about this woman dealing with all of this stuff lawyers and paperwork and probably thinking about something to this house and then looking at her window and just seeing a bunch of bags of stuff and a hose like in a drone dropping off things into her pool and she's like I can't. Here's an interesting thing, Raina that O.P does come back and go I talked to the owner of the house. He bought it before he was married. And well, come. Well, come.
on that's not the way it works really she's also the owner of the house yeah well and he had a good
idea i can use about 25 feet of pvc to add liquid chlorine i also need to add water because the water
level's too low and all the circulation is through the skimmer so now they're talking about getting
some pvc pipes yeah feeding them under the fence okay to the pool and then dumping the chemicals in
the pool that way so i'm i'm confused
then when they say the owner does that that's her husband like they own the house or maybe because you know
how people are yeah i know but i was wondering if maybe they're renting possibly you know and then the
owner is like a different person altogether but no he said they they he bought it before they met right
yeah so i think this is a classic man who's just like well i talk to the real owner of the house
yeah yeah that's exactly what it is yeah this guy goes take the caps off a couple quarts of oil
and toss over the fence oil will coat the surface of the pool and suffocate the mosquito
or some of those mosquito.
I'm not sure about dumping oil into the person's pool.
I'm not a pool guy, but I don't know if that's the right way to go.
Well, it's not solving the pool problem, but it's solving the mosquito problem.
But I think that you get to the root of it.
If you are going to be doing this type of thing, dumping things in the pool, then you just want to figure out how to clean it.
Yeah.
You're creating a way bigger problem if you just dump oil in a pool.
And also that would be scary.
Yeah.
Like you're a woman.
you live alone in a house and somebody's throwing motor oil in your pool.
Yeah, I wonder if they mean motor oil.
Like is that what they're...
Yeah.
I don't know what kind of...
He doesn't specify the kind of oil.
Yeah.
There's a lot of different kinds of oil.
This guy just, this is the last guy on this one.
He goes, this sounds like a situation from the television show Saturday night live.
Yeah.
The situation is so ridiculous.
It's rather hilarious.
Yeah, that's often what I find with those SNL sketches is a lot.
It's like, this is a ridiculous situation that results in pretty serious humor.
I went to Trust Pilot.
Do you know, trust.
But Rayna, yeah, trust pilot is, yeah, where people go to.
It's mostly British people we've figured out.
It's mostly British people here.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Okay.
It's the British website.
I think it's a European website.
But I want to say, Chris and I have talked about Swimpley before.
Yeah.
Oh, yes.
Yeah.
We had a episode, we had a bonus episode years ago now probably about like people who checked into an Airbnb with a pool and weren't allowed to swim because the pool was rented out to Swimpley.
So the Airbnb was rented and then Swimply was rented.
And Swimply, I don't know if it's still, I'm guessing it still exists.
It's still around.
Yeah, believe me.
Yeah.
For those of you like, sorry, go ahead.
No, I was going to say.
So yeah, Swimple is like you can rent a pool by like the hour basically.
at like a private pool.
But in your where you guys live, each of you,
is there like a good Swimply selection
when you go onto that house?
Columbus has what Vancouver doesn't have in.
I've never been on Swimply, to be honest.
I've never been on the app or site or whatever.
I've never felt the need.
But Brian, you've looked for Vancouver and we don't have it.
I looked at Vancouver.
There was only a couple and they were, I think pretty, let me look.
I mean, Vancouver's not a big pool place.
Maybe more so now.
It's a little warmer,
but it's like generally historically
a pretty mild temperature
and a lot of rain obviously
so it rains all the time
so it's swimming pools aren't huge here at all.
The only fruit place really.
Where are you?
I'm in Philadelphia and our swimply
if you open the swimply half in Philadelphia
it's pretty dire.
There's like one above ground pool
that looks like it's surrounded by like broken bikes and garbage
and that's about it.
That's tough man.
It's a there are the best place I found
for them.
Under representation in Swimpley is a big issue in today's society.
I find for certain cities.
It's like you got to have some.
I was just there.
It was very hot.
Swimply also like New York is the best place to search for bad Swimply reviews because there's a lot of them.
And some of them are in some of the worst spaces you've ever seen in your entire like really bad.
Because it's New York.
It's Brooklyn.
It's.
Oh, so I was going to say like.
New York City.
Can't really imagine pools there.
Yeah, where are the pools?
Are they in buildings on rooftops?
No, they're little brownstones or houses that have these little in-ground pools that they rent.
I see.
Very weird.
And then also you go to Long Island and do that.
But like, yeah.
So I was looking at Swimply reviews.
I'm going to have to spend more time on those for the bonus because like I just was like,
I got to figure out how to search it.
You know what I mean?
You can't sort by low ratings on there, which is kind of you want to be able to do that.
I understand that the low ratings can sometimes be unfair or whatever.
You do want to be able to read.
Why have the rating system.
The rating system is there so that people can rate them and you want to know what the lowest rated ones are.
But I guess why would you want the lowest rated ones other than to do a show like ours?
No, I don't think even that's the case because anytime I go stay in an Airbnb, I read the lowest reviews to, and it's really easy to discern which person's a psycho and which person is like, this place wasn't the way I thought.
I mean, who would be looking for the lowest reviews in order to actually, like, use the thing?
Why would why would you want to do that?
I don't know about that.
You would look for the lowest price or highest reviews.
It wouldn't really make sense.
Maybe you grew up with a crappy above ground pool and you're like, I want to recreate that experience.
I want to, do you have a pool where my friends will injure me with my eyes closed, perhaps?
That's what I'm looking for.
Something I can jump off the roof into and break my spine.
Yeah, I think when you log into a website, like when you go to Airbnb, when you go to TripAdvisor or any of these sites that we look at,
I think it's like if you, I'll just compromise with you on this, Chris.
When you click on a pool, you need to be able to sort those reviews by lowest review.
Oh, yes.
Okay.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Like on an individual listing.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
That, that, that I totally understand.
Yeah.
Yeah, yeah.
The customer service is terrible.
This is going to be a certain guy's nightmare.
the customer service is terrible.
I got notified that I booked a pool and I did not book a pool.
I was out of town.
I came home to an email saying I booked a pool for $800 insane.
I don't know how you could do that when I see in the prices of these pools.
So this must be an insanely nice pool.
You must be splitting it with people though.
I mean,
maybe there are people who book them just to go swimming alone,
but I would assume you're doing it with like some friends or your family.
But maybe you're throwing the pool party.
You know what I'm saying?
so you're going to take the whole cost of it.
Like money backs Brian over here.
If he was having a pool situation, he'd be like, oh, no, you guys, no, no, please come.
I got it all covered on Swimpley.
This is, this is, you enjoy the whole area.
Well, I would say that, yes, if I was doing one, I would try to get one of the more expensive
ones because I would assume they were taking care of it and that it was in a nice place.
but I didn't see a whole lot of pools that were more than $100 an hour.
Like they were usually $50, $60, $75 an hour.
Here's a question.
If you book a pool on Swimply, do they let you come inside and use the bathroom?
There will be some things later about a, there's a New York pool.
I think I can actually show that to you.
I just realized why there wouldn't be expensive pools because somebody that has like an expensive pool or like a night, like a mansion or whatever,
they're not going to feel the need to rent out their pool on Swimply.com or whatever.
So this is a Swimply pool.
So.
Hmm.
Turf, green turf around the outside of.
Yeah.
Safer if you're running.
Safer if you're running.
It's much safer for running.
I agree on that.
They got a grill.
They've got a grill there.
They've got some, you know, cheap outdoor seating, but seating that you could look.
Basketball hoop.
Unfortunately, though.
They don't have a bathroom.
That's too bad because they don't have a bathroom and not even the cleaning supplies.
Then the next guy goes, pull smaller than in the picture and doesn't have a restroom.
So those were the two best reviews I can find.
But I'm just blown away by $90 an hour to rent a pool.
And you can't go to the bathroom.
Yeah.
Like that seems really crazy to me.
That's an issue for sure.
And like, yeah, there's not even grass around there or treat.
Like this is an enclosed.
backyard with turf so there is literally nowhere if you have to go to the bathroom you have to leave
and go see more like a dunk and donuts nearby yeah you also almost feel like if I was getting in
that pool I would feel like it was pissed in of course because I mean you run a pool for two
hours and you can't go to the bathroom is crazy and if you're allowed to be and especially maybe
I don't know what the situation is with drinking and stuff like that if you can just you're not
allowed to do that you're not allowed to of them don't want any
drink. Most of them don't want, it's like an Airbnb where they're like no parties.
Like, just, all those chairs. That pulled so many chairs around it. It's like you can't have that many
people here. Yeah, no pool. Why would you have 20 seats? Who why? Yeah, why would other than like.
Soverely standing in a pool. These pool guys, I guess, who are like, but then, yeah, the pool got like
the initial guy we, we found out that went to the hotel just to use the pool. Maybe he would be the
perfect target audience for Swimpley because otherwise why would you do it other than to have a pool
party that would be the whole most of them say no parties no alcohol and then you start to look at it and
you're like so what am i doing what am i swimming laps at the pool is that what's happening yeah i mean
these pool guys could go on swimply and find cloudy pools and go fix them that they probably love yeah honestly
there's there's some guys that we've encountered who have probably they probably rent out Swimpley pools just to
fix them up and scratch that in there's a solution
for that guy who wants to try his chemicals in his device.
Just get a Swimply pool and go do it.
Go do your chemicals in a Swimply pool.
Swimply is the worst idea, I think, of these apps.
It sounds like a joke that you'd see in a movie or whatever, right?
Like, it sounds like the type of thing that would be like,
I think we said it on the episode or on the thing that we did.
It sounds like the type of thing you would make in a movie to show that, like,
things have gone a bit too far with this stuff.
Like that would be an example of that.
Renting an Airbnb and them saying you can't use the pool for four hours because I rented it out on Swimpley.
So there's going to be people swimming in the pool.
Yeah, that sounds like a sketch.
Yeah, that sounds like a, yeah.
You're segmenting your entire life and renting it out in different ways.
Yeah, guarantee you can rent their car.
Yeah, you could find, I'm sure, like a hundred sketches, like comedy sketches online about that concept, you know, of like segmenting.
Like, I'm renting out this.
I'm renting out that.
Oh, no, you can't use that right now.
that's being rented out on like whatever basketball year or whatever yeah because i was out of town i
came home well you can rent basketball courts on swimply oh you can yeah pool tables basketball courts
pickleball courts that's kind of cool that's kind of cool that they've got different stuff they like
those are non like not so you you can go on there and get non pool related stuff most of them still have
a pool they still have the pool okay but they have amenities like i saw a couple that pool tables i was like
that's kind of cool man yeah like that's that's something to do it would be fun that's something to do
with one other person and no alcohol yeah he goes uh i came home to an email saying i booked a pool
for eight hundred dollars about a month prior i had inquired about a few different pools i never
booked anything suddenly get an email that the pool was booked and they charged my card eight hundred
i messaged swimply through the chat and the girl told me she would credit my card back
a nice refund there yeah that's not that's a nice feeling when you're talking to that customer
service and they say yeah we'll credit your account that's beautiful we're going to give you a refund it's
like oh my god chris's eyes turned into the best words that a man can hear in this day and age
we'll be giving you a full refund on that she goes this is mr cheapy refund's nightmare though
suddenly get an email that the pool is they charge me
$800. And I, the girl told me she would credit my card back and cancel the unauthorized
reservation. Well, instead of crediting my card back, she gave me a Swimply credit for $800.
Oh, no.
That's not a good refund. Swimply store credit. Swimply store credit. Like, yeah, well, honey,
we'll be going to a pool every weekend for the summer.
Chris, I'm curious, do you consider store credit a refund? A legit refund?
No, obviously not. No, it's got to be a full refund back to the whatever payment, you know, whatever
cards you used or payment method that you used. I mean, obviously it depends on the situation and
it depends on what kind of store it is. I mean, getting $800 from Swimpley, it sounds like a
fucking nightmare. It sounds like somebody like making your life so much worse. But like, yeah,
if it's like, yeah, at a store that I shop at all the time, like if Lulu Lemon,
I get the pants and the shorts from there and stuff like that.
If they gave me a store credit, I would, I would probably use it.
That would be not so bad.
I mean, I'll take a store credit.
Amazon sometimes I take a store credit because I'm going to use it anyway.
And it comes into the account faster.
But most of the time, I want my account to, I want to go my bank account.
That's the difference.
That's funny because we've talked about this before, but how I won't return anything on Amazon.
I don't go through the rigamarole of returning stuff on Amazon.
I just, I've never done it before, I don't think.
I just have to if it sucks.
He goes, here's a credit my car back.
She gave me a Swimply credit for $800.
I messaged back into customer service and they acted like that wasn't an option.
They told me I had chosen credit even though I wasn't the one that canceled it.
They said there was no record of a conversation from the night before, which floors me.
I had to beg to get my money back and they acted like they were doing me a favor.
This isn't my first experience with bad customer service and Swimpley.
So yeah I would also you've had other bad experiences.
Yeah, why do you keep doing this?
This is your way from the website.
Just go to a hotel.
Yeah, it sounds to me like if you're having multiple disagreements with Swimpley,
then it just need to change things up.
And here's one for you guys,
because you talked about it being pretty dire when you go on Swimpley in Philadelphia.
Yeah.
And Columbus has a decent amount actually.
It's silly.
I just understand running out your pool if you don't use it much in like a place where it's only,
you know what I mean, where the summers are, the winter is freezing cold and you can't use the pool.
It's like, huh, maybe I get some of the use out of it that, you know, but this guy goes,
avoid bait and switch.
They advertise pools available with filtered options.
But after I signed up for the membership, I visited one pool and then that host stopped hosting
and several other listings for pools were blocked until late fall or winter.
winter despite
despite no pools
available within
a full two hour drive for me during
the summer I didn't check further out.
They refused to offer a refund.
Don't waste your money. So basically
this guy's like signed up
in the late summer
and was like, oh, look at all the pools
available or no, it's
the opposite of that. People don't have their
pools available in the summertime.
Well, yeah, first of all, they're rented.
Secondly, they're using them. And they're
using the, yeah.
And third, it's like, uh, it seems to me what I, what I've gathered looking at
Swimply information is that it is a fucking nightmare to host like a fucking actual horrible nightmare.
Because again, people go to your pool and they party and they're loud and their,
your neighbors get mad about it.
HOA's hate it.
And like, it's just a whole, which HOA.
are bad, but still, they hate it.
You're going to get in trouble for it.
And like, it's illegal in a lot of places.
And then people just set it up anyway.
You know what I mean?
You don't have a bathroom, so your turf is covered in piss and shit when you get home.
Yeah, it stinks.
Yeah, people shitting on there.
People crying, leaving and saying, leaving a big turd in the pool and then being like
on the review, I don't know.
I had to stay somewhere.
I do have one lifeguarding story concerning that because when somebody,
defecates in a pool. You have to clear
the entire pool, which is
a huge pain.
So one summer, when I was
lifeguarding, we had one of those toddler
waiting pools, and
it was a summer afternoon.
This woman had her kids there.
Everything was fine. I see her,
like, picking step up off the bottom of the pool. I think
they're toys. She just leaves. They don't say anything to me.
They go to the change room. They come back
10 minutes later, and she says, hey, just to let
you know, my kid
pooped in the pool.
but I picked it all up
so it's fine
and at this point
people have been like swimming around in it
for like 10, 50 minutes
and I didn't know
and I decided
just to not do anything
Rayna you did what I would have done
you did honestly did the right thing
honestly yeah
what are they going to clear it out
and they're going to be like
there's no shit in here what are you doing
but they took the poop out of the pool
I mean exactly maybe there's some
little poop particles
I was just going to say
I mean, I don't know if you can get all.
It depends.
These are really solid shits.
Toddlers don't always take really solid shits, but it, I think you did do the right thing.
I mean, I think, hmm?
This guy rented, this guy reviewed Swimply and gave it one star crew.
Mm-hmm.
Never rented a private pool, but you have to be a special kind of stupid to rent out such a personal and private space for money.
Also, your neighbors who pay $15,000 in property taxes to live in a peaceful neighborhood must
love you. Just an awful, awful idea. So they're...
My secret personal pool. How do you know about the property tax is different everywhere,
but he must be just talking about his area. I mean, if you were a neighbor to a
Swimply house, you would be probably pretty annoyed by it, I will say.
I mean, it sucks to... I have discovered that some of my building is Airbnb's.
Mm-hmm. I don't know which ones. I don't know which people, but I think they couldn't rent
out the whole fucking building.
And they are using the empty apartments that haven't been rented.
They're furnishing them and then doing Airbnbs.
Like it's so obvious that, you know, there's always people in the garage from different
states.
I think it's mostly people who come here for a concert or who come here for a convention
that stay here.
But it's like, at first I was like, man, there's a little bit of everybody in this
building and then I realized well yeah there's an anime convention so there's a bunch of anime people
walking around the building but I don't like that you know why what does it's weird I just don't I don't
think I don't think I I truly don't think people respect like Airbnb's yeah but who cares but it's in
my building but who cares is it and shit has happened here that sucks like the doors always getting
broken like okay it's not us breaking yeah well maybe it is though you never
know. I mean, that's a little bit. That's a little bit. Yeah, I think you're...
I'm prejudiced. Yeah, people do break their own buildings doors regularly, I think. I mean,
I guess I understand a little bit, but yeah, it wouldn't bother me unless I lived below or right
next door to one that was an Airbnb, and it was like, you know, they're having parties there
or whatever and loud and shit like that. But I've seen and heard of the parties in the past.
and it's, I've heard some absurd parties happening.
But I mean, you have neighbors who, you have, you have, you have horrible neighbors below you.
Well, they've left me alone.
I think the rental office said stop harassing him.
But yeah, they've left me alone.
This guy goes worst paid experience in my entire life, one star.
The pool was great.
But when I went to leave the property and exited the backyard to the host driveway, I was met
by her telling me that Amazon had been delivering a package and hit my car.
However, Amazon had supposedly.
already left without the host walking to the backyard to inform me of what had transpired.
I don't want to defend the host, but very often people are mad if they can see the host.
They just don't want to see them.
Yeah, they want to feel like it's, they want to feel like it's their pool.
For that day, it's their pool.
Now, don't ruin this fantasy for me.
Yeah, this is my pool.
Don't ruin my Swimply fantasy.
Yeah, don't ruin my Swimply fantasy.
by coming and reminding me that I don't have my own pool.
I contacted Swimply customer care and they said they're not responsible for these types of damages.
Let me tell you something.
If that guy got a refund for that, he'd be the Mr. King refund.
I mean, that is, of course they're not responsible for that.
Yeah.
It's nothing to do with it.
You're renting out the pool at the place.
That's completely unrelated.
it. I also think I've never considered dividing my life into worst experiences and worst paid.
Oh yeah. That's good, Ray. I have all my worst experiences are paid. Yeah. Yeah, I'm trying to
Airbnb I stayed in. Mm-hmm. That's one of the worst paid experiences. Yeah, you're right, Raina. I've never,
I just consider like what experiences are bad. I don't consider the paid and unpaid experiences.
Okay. So I went to Facebook and looked at.
Above ground swimming pools group.
Okay.
Wow.
Yeah.
It's the only thing Facebook's good for is a group about above ground swimming pools.
So this is the guys above ground swimming pool.
Wow.
It's very clear.
Very clear.
Nice, nice, you know, clear, as you can see, the blue bottom is very clear.
It looks like it's moving.
Yeah.
Yeah, it doesn't look still.
I mean, I think that's just wind, right?
Like the wind is hitting it.
Yeah.
He says, Z.
Zero chemicals all season.
Just a sand filter and an ionizer.
Full sum for three to four hours a day.
It's bath water warm.
I don't like that.
I don't like that at all.
I don't want a warm pool on a hot day.
Bacteria can famously be invisible.
Well, yeah.
The first response, clear water not always clean from Shirley.
The O.P. replies it goes, ever swim in a pond or a river?
Yeah.
And then she says
Those aren't clear.
Yes.
So why worry about the pool?
I mean,
hey,
there's some,
I guess that's some,
there's some truth to that,
I guess.
Well,
this guy goes,
water coming off a glacier
might look crystal clear,
but it's not safe to drink.
Mm-hmm.
It's not?
No,
you need to have a filter.
Yeah.
Rayna,
I would have thought it was safe to drink.
I'd be dead.
I'd be dead if I was out there drinking glacier water.
It depends.
I don't think it's that,
but it definitely can.
they have those things like if you go out hiking and camping and stuff they have those special
filter things to make it so you can drink the water yeah this guy goes i got ridiculed for doing
the same the pool community is turned on me i love the idea of them getting ridiculed for that
getting bullied by the other pool people op he comes to get back and goes fuck them we swim in pond
water for fuck sake with all the fish and animal shit in it anyone who ever swimming
swam in a river. Human waste is filtered through biological filtration and dumped back into the rivers.
People swim in it daily. Yeah, but that's not your pool. Yeah. Like this is one of those guys who
gets like one of those seatbelt stoppers so he doesn't have to like put a seatbelt on. He's like,
well, when I was a kid, I didn't have to like put a seatbelt on in the back of my parents car. Yeah,
this is a hose water guy. This is a whole water guy. I'll fill the pool up with the hose water and
then drink it. This guy goes, I have a sign that says no peeing in the pool so I'm good. Little joke.
That's a little riff.
Then the OP comes back and goes, I eat ass, so I'm not real worried about a cup of pee and 15,000 gallons of water.
I was not ready for that, man.
He eats ass.
He's not worried.
I've got two interests, above ground pools and eating ass.
Let's take a look at an actual Swimply horror story from a harsh-slip.
What do you say?
I binge over this above-ground pool and eat your ass for a while.
I don't give me shit about a lot.
I love that he says, I don't give a shit about a cup of pee and a 10,000 gallons.
Yeah, I mean, have you ever heard of, have you ever seen the water sports section on a pornography page?
And all of a sudden you're concerned with this.
Some people love it.
Here, this guy asked for an honest review of renting a pool on swim plea and he got a reply.
Finally took the plunge during a heat wave.
Oh, that's nice.
He did put a laughing.
Take the plunge, right?
Yeah. That's nice.
I appreciate it.
Good.
Hey, it made me laugh.
He goes during a heat wave and rented a pool for an hour for significant other and self.
Listing seemed like it checked out.
Great photos and listing info.
Looked like it would be a great pool to rent.
Walked in to open the side gate already had music playing.
We turned it off.
And the neighbor had very loud Mexican music playing.
Neighbor was burning wood next door.
Another neighbor was running a loud generator the whole time.
Well, being mad about the Mexican music, that's like, you're at a pool, you know what I mean?
You're outside. That would be kind of cool. I mean, maybe you hate that kind of music, but that would make it feel like, you know, to me, that's like summertime vibes.
I feel like, listen, what is, I'm not defending a Swimply renter, rented, like landlord.
What is, what are they supposed to do about that? Yeah, you're not renting the neighborhood.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
if you're outside, then there's a good chance that you're going to hear, like, on a summer's day,
you're going to hear other people living their lives, yeah.
He's like, guys burning wood next door.
Yeah, it's called a bonfire.
People do it all the time.
Yeah.
It smells nice.
I love it.
Yeah, that's why I'm saying.
This all sounds like pretty, and the generator maybe is a little bit annoying, but you got some
Mexican music playing, some wood fire burning, like you're in the pool.
It sounds all good to me.
He goes, host greeted us.
us and then proceeded to sit with two or three other people right next to the window facing the
pool and watched us the entire time.
Okay.
That's a little bit weird.
I don't know that I would like that.
That is a nervous homeowner.
Yeah.
They want to feel good about renting their pool out, but they absolutely can't.
Yeah.
That's completely crazy.
Like to be sitting there at the window watching.
I wonder how.
how like if they literally set up chairs like facing the window and just sat there watching
or if they were kind of you know at a table beside it and looking over like I wonder how
egregious it was sitting at like a dining room table like you do when you do like a live podcast
they're all on one side and there's nobody on the other side and you like sitting there talking
to each or they're not even talking to each other they're just sitting there they're just staring at you
like some sort of horror film yeah because I feel like if you're going to put
stuff on Swipley you gotta be okay you gotta be okay with stepping stepping back and just letting them do
their swimming and i mean you should have to you should leave you should leave at least leave their general
vicinity and let them enjoy their their you know their swim i i wouldn't rent on swimpley for the
simple fact that there is somebody in the house it's just too weird it's such a weird thing to do it's
as we've covered it's completely fucking bizarre to do in my opinion host greet it's
us and bro he goes they had blinds they never pulled them down or clothes very awkward and discurteous
never mentioned they had cameras pool was a bit slimy and dirty on the bottom maintenance is not
being done regularly for a pool being i know a guy who could come by and help out with that
take the whole bottom right on yeah we were not rude loud or weird just wanted to swim and cool
off significant other ended up not swimming because the host and the family guests were weird
we had already paid no chance of getting money back would not return to that pool for the first time using swimply that was disappointing that experience was some of what people would think may occur when considering renting a swimpley uh so there is that let's take a look i can't believe the the pool without a bathroom blew me away let's take a look at a review of the kitsalado pool oh this is a big contentious thing in the city of vancouver by the way it's very much it's very much
much like because it's like closed down for a bunch of the time and people are all mad about
it. I will say like my dad's place is right by Kitt's Beach and that's where it is. And this is like
a super busy beach where everybody goes to and it's a really famous pool and it's a nice big,
huge pool right on the water that kind of uses like filters ocean water into it, I think. It's a great
pool. But yeah, it's been in the news a lot lately. Yeah. Well, from what I can gather,
that they open and they're open for four hours and then they close for a half hour everybody has to leave the pool it's closed yeah and then it opens again in a half an hour for like three or four hours and then it closes and everybody has to leave and this process happens three times yeah throughout the day and it is fucking really weird it they the people think it's COVID restrictions still which it came from that initially and
then they decided to stick with it, but that seems odd.
I'll tell you,
there's not COVID restrictions in Vancouver.
So this guy goes old,
this is his old review.
Great pool.
Busy,
but still easy to swim in.
Lots of room to lay around on the deck to soak up the sun.
Lots of people chattering during the busy time.
But oh,
well, saltwater pool was definitely an awesome experience.
Well,
he updated his review from five stars to one star.
Hmm.
I'm a bit skeptical.
about salt water pools.
After my experience.
How long in between?
I think it's four year.
Okay.
So life has changed for him.
Who knows what happened?
He's learned some things about salt water pools.
He goes after my experience here,
I suspect they transfer intestinal parasites more easily.
I think my gut health went downhill for a few years after enjoying a great swim here.
From one swim?
I know.
I know.
Also, were you drinking the water?
Yeah, for years it went down.
Like he said his guy health went down.
Like he had one single swim in the pool and after that his life changed for years.
He goes, my intuitions about my body are usually spot on.
To each their own, all the best deciding for yourself.
Okay.
There you go.
I mean, this guy goes, max capacity is stated at 1800, but this dump of a city won't hire more lifeguards,
leaving kids crying and waiting in line for an hour to be told they can.
come in. Vancouver sucks
and so does this place.
Wow. When's that from?
Three years ago.
Three years ago, yeah.
I don't think it
it sucks more now in the way
probably than that. But no, Vancouver's
pretty nice. I mean, the worst
thing about it is Chris lives there.
I don't know about that.
This guy, this is the last
review for the Kitsilano pool
and it is strange.
It's very short.
But one star from Max, they don't sell swim shorts.
It's not a store.
This guy thinks it's like a golf course.
Like they're going to have stuff for you.
The guy shows up in jeans.
Yeah.
He's waiting at a lot.
They should have rentals.
They should have rentals.
Yeah, exactly.
Or they should, you know, like at a fancy restaurant or whatever.
They should have just a loner that they loaner pair of.
of, just to be clear, too, I mean, it's not right beside, but there are stores very close.
Like, very close in Kittalano, like on 4th Avenue, you know, you could walk up 10 minutes and or like on the way there you could stop by and there's so many stores that you could buy it.
Would be better if you could just get them at the pool.
I don't know why they don't run a store there.
Like a vending machine.
I mean, maybe some pools do, but yeah, I don't think it's something you should expect going to the pool.
Public pools usually don't have a store.
Don't have a swim truck story.
Yeah.
I don't think I've never seen it.
I've never seen it either.
This is some reviews for the Groveport Aquatic Center.
Yeah.
Did you go here, Brian?
I didn't.
It closed.
I went to the Groveport pool.
I grew up going to the Groveport pool, but it was just a pool.
Now they got this thing.
I'll show you.
It's very weird.
They have like a pretty nice aquatic center.
That's a picture of the Groveport Aquatic Center.
They got a water slide somehow.
They got two water slides.
You know, it's pretty good reviews.
4.4 with 551 reviews.
There are some people that don't like it.
Of course, always.
But it sounds like generally speaking, it's a pretty popular place.
People do like it.
So I really like this review because it's a classic unreliable narrator review.
One star.
A horribly immature staff.
I broke a move.
They're going to be teenagers.
They're going to be teenagers mostly.
That's to be expected at a pool or like water slides.
It's like one of the famous places the teens work at.
If like old like at a fancy restaurant like one of those guys who just been working at the pool forever still lifeguarding.
He's like 65, 70 years old.
65 year old lifeguard is pretty, that's pretty cool.
The Hasselhoff style, you know, with that kind of body on them.
That works if you live in like L.A. or something like that.
I think you know.
That's true.
I feel like there are life or lifeguards.
Yeah, and at a beach maybe and stuff.
But I do.
And it's not across the board.
But it is like it's, I think you should expect that there'll be some teens working at the pool.
Yeah.
He goes.
So he goes, I broke a rule not on purpose now.
Okay.
Sometimes if you say you broke a rule, not on purpose, you would say what the rule is.
Yeah.
No explanation.
No explanation sounds to me like it might have.
been a pretty serious breach.
He doesn't even really want to mention
because he might not be on his side if he does.
Yeah, that's the thing.
I wish they would have responded to it and they didn't.
The Groveport pool does not respond to people.
They don't have a social media person.
They don't have a Randy, they don't have a Randymon.
No, no Randy mine.
He goes, the head lifeguard comes out and acts like he's some king of the world.
So, man, they brought the head lifeguard.
The head life card goes out, this guy thinks he's cock.
of the walk, you know?
I love the idea of that because he's probably just like,
he's the one who's enforcing something and telling him something that he doesn't want to hear.
So that's what makes him that way.
Yeah, this is the kind of guy who sees enemies everywhere.
Yeah, yeah.
He is the, listen, he's the king of that area.
He is in charge of that area.
Yeah.
He can make you leave easily.
In the same way a king can make you leave a kingdom.
Yep.
He can shun you and never let you come back.
And he wouldn't be the one physically having you removed either.
He would have his underlings would come and take you out just in the same way that a king would.
I don't know.
A head lifeguard feels like he could probably fuck some shit up, to be honest.
I mean, I think it's kind of, I think lifeguard's kind of a tough guy job, in my opinion.
Yeah, I mean, you've got to be, you've got to be in good physical shape, I would say probably.
If you're the head lifeguard for sure.
Yeah.
I think it's a tough guy job because it's like, it's like you're a, you're in charge of something physical.
And like, and I don't mean it's only guys.
It's a tough gal job too.
It's just a, it's a tough job.
You know what I mean?
Because you're doing what you're doing is like incredibly hard.
And you do have to like reprimand adults.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
You have to like, you have to be able to, yeah, tell somebody.
got to leave or you got to be a bell that you can't do that or whatever and just drunk people
at the pool all the time and that's why we have security like the bigger pools probably have
security as well right and that's part of the job I always really hated was that part like yelling
at people and telling them to not do things because I would get really nervous yeah you get like
because when when I used to when I was like 16 at the chucky cheese and stuff like that and
somebody would get mad and the manager would go hide in their fucking office.
And so it's me and this person that I get anxiety thinking about that.
Like I don't think I don't I think the man that's the manager's job.
He should have to do it.
Yeah.
You know what I mean?
And they're getting all mad at you because they're just like, hey, you're clearly on pills right now.
You're supposed to be making sure children don't leave with other people.
Why does Chuckie smell like cigarettes?
Are you smoking in the suit?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Raina, did you have a head lifeguard where you, when you were a lifeguard?
Do you remember?
Yeah, it was such a long time ago.
I feel like we had like a managing kind of lifeguard who would, they would be the person
who would tell you like, where are you going to sit?
Or like, you know.
So like there's the adult pool where you'd sit at the very end.
And then there was the, there's sort of a midpool person.
beside the slide and then the kid pools there'd be one on each of those um and so like their higher
rank i feel like you ended up in the harder spot yeah yeah yeah but would you so but you did you ever
have to defer to them in a situation or you would deal with the stuff yourself our pool was
relatively drama free so i don't think i never witnessed anyone getting ejected for bad behavior
or for breaking rules or even reprimanded in that serious way where you'd have to bring somebody else in
or whatever.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And was it better to work at the kids pool?
It seems like it'd be better.
It's less stressful because also you have the parents there who are watching the kids.
Right.
So you're sort of like extraneous.
But like on the adult pool, yeah.
Reprimanding adults as like a teenager, even in your like early 20s is not fun.
Not fun at all.
I like doing it now.
But like back then it was like, oh my God, what am I going to tell these people?
they could just go crazy and do adult stuff on me.
Yeah, they could do...
Although I will say as an adult, if I'm at a pool
and I think a lifeguard has blown their whistle
because of something I'm doing,
like I revert to being like a little kid
who just got in trouble.
Like I feel horrible.
Yeah.
I'm going to cry.
I hate getting an adult trouble.
I feel like that is like you're a normal person in that way,
but I feel like there are a lot of people who aren't,
who don't take it that way, you know?
Yeah.
Who are just like, oh, fucking kids going to tell me what to do?
Like, you know, I've been swimming for 70 years or whatever.
I mean, when you're in trouble as an adult, it is one of the worst feelings.
Like, because it's like, I'm not saying with the police or anything.
I'm saying like, it's just if you're at a place and you break a rule that you maybe knew you or whatever, it just is not good.
It's why I've never shoplifted.
Yeah.
I don't have a problem with shoplifting, but I'm afraid of getting caught and getting in trouble and, like, being yelled at.
Yeah, it really is just a case where you should know better.
That's why.
Like, you really should.
This guy goes, lifeguards don't want to do their job.
Shut down twice while I was there today because of so-called lightning when it was sunny and beautiful outside.
Oh, maybe.
But, I mean, I don't think that the direct sky above you is the thing that they're judging on.
I think it's probably some sort of a weather service.
who's like the National Weather Service maybe
who's saying lightning could be here.
Yeah, sometimes you can hear thunder in the distance
and you still have to close the pool.
You have to get everyone.
Yeah, and he goes barely got 30 minutes of swim time
while lifeguard sat around all happy on their phones and eating.
What?
That is the best.
That is actually speaking as a former lifeguard.
When you have to like shut the pool down
and just wait it out and you get to go to the lifeguard office
and you get to like have snacks and just hang out and get paid.
It pisses me off when people are happy.
It does make me.
angry when I see other people happy and I'm not happy.
Emily gives it one star and says, this place smells and the workers were so mean,
didn't even let us in.
Like, what?
I'm never coming back again.
Zero out of 10.
Don't recommend this, Grove poop.
How do you know it smells if you didn't even get let in?
And also, it's, and also, well, there's more to it.
There's a reason they didn't let you in.
You're leaving that part out.
The reason is absurd from what I could tell.
Okay.
I'll read this last review.
I'll explain you to you.
We'll get out of here.
This last review for the Groveport pool is just one star.
He goes, no water in pool.
Terrible time.
I mean, that's fair.
Terrible time.
It applies that he went in anyway.
Yeah, I jumped in.
Jumped in, hit my head on the bottom due to no water one star.
Not fun.
Not fun.
It sucks when the pool doesn't have.
So at the Groport pool, in order to bring a kid in order for someone under 18 to get in there.
they have to have a parent with them.
So I couldn't take my niece to Groveport Pool without a photocopy, I think, a photocopy of
her mom, my sister's ID and some sort of sign note or something like that.
So a lot of times when people go to the public pool, they're taking other people's kids.
You know what I mean?
It just like
That's such an intense
I mean it's true
Yeah that it seems like is that like a response
To some horrible thing that happened
It really does seem like a real
You know like heavy duty security on that type of thing
Yeah and they're not letting anybody in
Meanwhile at the local Chuck E cheese
There's a guy who's meant to be making sure
That kids leave with their parents and he's high on LSD
Inside the suit
Well
Come on
All right well that was
pool guys next week
dead pool guys
are you just going to call it pool guys again
I kind of want to
yeah I mean it'll be confusing
later on
but who cares about that we don't care about
SEO stuff clearly
yeah our show is called guys
our show is called guys your name is murder
Brian I do a I do a separate
podcast called the writer's room
it's just impossible to find
any of them
Rayna do you have anything you'd like to plug
I do, but first I will say this is the first and only podcast I've ever asked to be on.
And I will say that because you're so hard to Google and find online, I was like, I don't even know how to email people.
Yeah, you sent me a message on Instagram, I think, is how you finally got a hold.
Yeah, no, we were, it was super exciting for me.
I know, it was very cool.
It was very cool because you, yeah, you're like a legitimate, real, you know, music journalist working for NPR.
We didn't even talk about that at all.
So some people who are just listening to the episode,
maybe don't know that,
but you are very accomplished.
You're like an accomplished.
Finally someone asks me about my lifeguarding.
Yeah,
but yeah,
you've probably talked to like,
I can't even imagine some of the musicians that you've talked to.
Anybody from Fleet Foxes, Raina?
Actually, yeah, I did talk to Robin Becknall.
Oh, man, that's the big joke.
Is that the only band I like?
It's the only band he listens to.
That's the only, but yeah, so, yeah,
it was really cool to get that message.
I was like, I saw that message from you and I was like, oh my God, why would, why would somebody like that want to come on our show?
But we will definitely have her on.
Can I tell you before we go?
I wouldn't check the post the P.O. box today.
Yeah.
And I got a few things.
One of them was a sticker that says walkable cities and suckable titties, which is the insane thing.
Very nice.
Then the other thing's a penthouse magazine.
Somebody just said you boredos?
There's not a single indication of, I think there is a return address.
Tyler, thank you for the penthouse.
Thanks for the penthouse, Tyler.
I'm not, and this is, we are doing this.
I'm going to get on Streamyard with Chris and we won't record it.
I'm just going to hold up the penthouse and turn each page.
That's only fair.
It's for both of us, but I don't have a P.O. box, so I should get to see the penthouse.
And yeah, we're doing this in the middle of.
of Raina's plug.
Oh, yeah.
Go ahead and plug, right.
So I host a show called World Cafe.
You may be able to find it on your local public radio station, but you can also find
it online, worldcafe.org.
And you can follow me at Rha-R-R-R-A-R-A-N-A.
So it's R-A-R-A-I-N-A.
That's on Instagram.
You can also find me on Twitter.
Yeah.
And you can find like at World Cafe wherever you want to.
Yeah.
I mean, it's, yeah, I've listened to it.
fantastic if you're into music i of any kind he's not in the he's into sweet foxes well i had a
question for you rana just before we go that i think is kind of important being that you're like
