Hello.
It's me and Chris.
We didn't really think about what we were going to say before we did this.
I don't know.
Just like have a general idea of what we're going to say.
We're doing a live show, everybody.
Don't do.
Don't make it so I have to edit in that fucking shit on the promo.
You don't have to.
Yes, I do.
Why?
It's going to come on a different track.
No, it's going to come on my track.
It's coming out of my mind.
If it comes on your track, then just don't, please don't make extra work for me.
Folks, we're doing a lot.
It comes out of my microphone, buddy.
Okay, Brian, I have to do that.
We don't want to be here for too long.
We do.
We do.
We do.
We do.
We do.
We're doing a live show October 23rd in Vancouver.
It's our buy yearly live show.
I don't buy anything.
And it's October 23rd at the Wise Hall.
Tickets are going on sale.
September 4th.
So this coming Friday, they're going on sale.
And, yeah, go over to the Geysery.com.
Buy tickets.
We have special guests.
We can't announce it until right before.
but they are great guests.
We're excited about it.
And Brian, anything to say to get people to come out to the live show?
Oh, the tickets are $45 with no fees.
All fees included for 45 Canadian.
The show starts at 8 o'clock p.m.
Brian, anything to say, get them, sell them, sell them on this.
Come on out to the show, everybody.
I mean, we're really looking forward to seeing you all.
Underwhelming.
Okay.
I know.
It was bad.
I didn't know what to say.
Okay, bye.
That's why we should have planned it.
No.
No, I'll never.
Welcome to guys, the podcast about guys.
I'm Brian.
We still in the water, baby.
What I'm talking about?
I got Chris here.
Hi, Chris.
Hey, Brian.
Give me double guns there to sort of say, over to you, Chris.
Over to you, Chris.
Over to you, Chris.
Over to you.
Yeah, this is one of those fun episodes where I did not know what we were doing until I looked at the room.
for what we're doing.
Got kind of excited about it.
It's aquarium guys.
You guys already know that if you're listening.
But I've been going to the aquarium.
Wrong aquarium.
No, I know.
But I've also been going to the aquarium store.
Oh, no.
Don't do that.
Well, no, not to buy stuff just because.
Okay.
Just because Charlie likes to look at the like fish and the lizards and things like that.
It's a pet store.
But it has a lot of aquarium stuff.
So I've been looking at all the different like decorations and stuff.
What?
I can't.
I don't want to even get involved in something like that.
You know, let's get, we got Lauren Walker on the show.
Hi, Lauren.
Hey, Lauren.
Hey, Lauren.
Having a kid is very important in context.
Going to the aquarium store to not buy anything is way weirder if you're on your own.
Thank you, Lauren.
That's what I was saying.
You can't be going to stores and not buying anything.
last this is what I wanted to say last week I went to the store you can all you can definitely go to stores and not buy things I just want to say for the listener it's perfectly acceptable to go to a store and not buy things I think people are aware that Brian has some sort of something inside his brain that is different maybe where yeah he goes to a store and he's like well I better buy something now but that's not that's not necessarily that's not a normal way to be or that you don't have to be that way it's crazy because like you're
So there's this thing.
I don't know if you guys have it up there.
They call it a dot cake.
You two know what a dot cake is?
I'm not sure what a dot cake is.
No, Lauren.
Never heard of a dot cake, no.
Never heard of a dot cake.
It's in a paper thing.
It's like a cake for one person and the whole top of a cupcake.
A cupcake.
No, no, no.
It is not like a cupcake.
Oh.
It is in like an ice cream sort of carton.
you know what I'm saying?
Like the little school kid with the little wooden spoon type?
No, no, no, like this big and this big around, right?
Like, like a cupcake.
You're giving the dimensions of a cupcake now.
I got to show you a dot cake now.
And it's like birthday cake, right?
And I love birthday cake.
A cup cake is like birthday cake as well.
No, it's different.
Okay.
You're wrong about this.
It's not.
I mean, they make it out of the same exact thing.
That's a dot cake.
Okay.
And some people are.
listening they're probably they know exactly what a dot cake so they're like these are dot cakes oh
okay just has sprinkles on the top of it that's what makes it dot cake oh those are called dots not
sprinkles i believe so yeah this is called something else in australia too right isn't this something like
a big deal in australia also i don't know what they call it there uh but i love them you're not gonna
believe this i've got quite a few dot cakes at my time they i'm not a big sprinkles guy like or dots or
whatever you want to call them, those like really hard kind of, I'm not a fan of those.
They make the cake crunchy.
It's so good.
I don't want it to be crunchy.
I don't want it to be crunchy.
I want like maybe, maybe put some almond slivers on there if you want a little bit of crunch.
But these I feel like are like too crunchy.
I'm not put off by it because it's because of how TikTok works.
It's now Mormon coded to me.
It is.
Like this is a Mormon startup by two housewives that is worth like 400,
million dollars now and there's like 70 locations across Utah and Arizona.
Does this, does this? So when you're describing it, you're saying it just looks like it comes in like a little
instead has like like a cup. Yeah, but not a cup. Like it's almost like a cake in a cup, would you say?
Well, I'm okay. Come on. It doesn't go up over the cup. Yeah. No, I'm trying to say you eat it with a
spoon. Yeah, yeah. Does it go over the side of the cup? And it has ice cream in it. They have
has no ice cream in it.
But you mentioned ice cream.
You mentioned ice cream.
No, I mentioned ice cream because the container they put it in oftentimes is an ice is also
used for ice cream containers.
But it's cake inside.
So it is the same as it is the same as a cupcake in many ways.
Well, I'm really, I like them a lot and I wanted one last Thursday, right?
And there's this place here, fantastic bakery.
and they are known for the dot cake.
I believe they've gotten out of the dot cake business, though.
So I happen to be in a neighborhood.
I was like, I'm going to go grab myself a dock cake.
Stopped in, walked in, no dot cakes.
What time is this happening at?
I'm trying to get at 3 p.m.
So you've had lunch or in between lunch and dinner.
Yeah.
And you're thinking you're walking around and you're thinking, I'm going to give myself a dog cake.
Yeah.
I mean, what a fair.
Hey, all power to you.
cake.
Yeah.
No, but it was going to eat it later.
Oh, I see.
You were going to buy it and then have it after dinner as your dessert.
So I get in there.
I'm like, y'all got any duck cakes?
And she's like, no, we don't have any right now.
And I was like, oh, okay.
And so then for some reason, I was like, I'll take six cupcakes.
Hmm.
And that was $30.
Hmm.
And I got them.
And I took them home and I looked at him and I was like, I can't have these.
So I called Gwen, my daughter, and I go, hey,
come over and grab these cupcakes.
Why did you think you couldn't have them?
You can't have that many.
I just didn't.
I didn't want them in the house because you figured you'd eat all six of them.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Cakes are allowed in the house.
Cupcakes are not allowed.
That's how to because it's a distinction.
So why didn't you just buy one?
Was there only a package of six?
That's a good point.
I felt like it'd be a waste of the lady's time if I did one.
But you were only going to buy one dog cake.
That's going to buy two.
three.
Okay.
I don't know.
Okay.
And this is going back to your fear of leaving a store without paying for something and in some way offending the spirit of capitalism that.
Well, I don't.
I just couldn't picture myself being like, oh, you don't have them.
Well, I'm out of here.
But that's the most normal way to not buy something to say, hey, I'm coming and looking for a specific thing.
And you don't have it.
I think they understand.
And I get it.
A small business, I understand that feeling of like going into a small business or whatever.
And you're like, oh, the person's there and it's their store.
And they're excited about possibly selling something.
And then you go in and you leave.
I get that.
I'm going to like pet smart.
I know.
It's like a chain big giant.
Very bad.
According to these guys.
I believe it.
I like,
I believe it.
My only point was that I saw, I've been seeing all because Charlie's like,
interested in all the little toys, the little rubber things that you put in the aquarium.
And I was completely blown away at just there's fucking aisles and aisles of these things,
of these decorations for your aquariums. It blew my mind.
And we're not even talking about that sort of thing because a lot of the stuff I got is from
R slash reef tank.
I don't know if you guys have ever seen a reef tank in your life, but there's no fish in it.
Oh.
So it's purely about.
like the decorating the tank to impress other people on the internet yeah it's got like little
reef things yeah yeah they look like animals or whatever but their plants is what i would
yeah those are the things i'm talking about those are the things i saw aisles and aisles of yeah they're
alive oh these are living they're living like plants underwater like anemones and whatnot i see so it's
like it's like having plants in your house but you're like i want to have water plants i want to have
seat place.
Yeah. I just want to risk destroying everything I own more.
Yeah.
In order to clear it for you, here's some reef tanks.
I got you.
I mean, some of them have fish in them, but most of them don't even have fish.
And one of the reasons I chose to talk about reef tanks more than regular aquariums was I knew a guy that was a reef tank guy.
And it's so expensive.
and like such and he was broke like he was as broke as I was right and like had no money he's
spending thousand dollars a month on this thing what what are you spending the money because
like I'm trying to it's always breaking first of all they make their own aquariums which is so problematic
like you'll see guys be like yeah I'm thinking I'm going to uh weld two aquariums together but it's
It's not welding, right?
It's not welding though.
Yeah, I don't know what the turn is.
You're doing glass.
Yeah.
It's like gluing them together.
And you'll see guys be like, I glued two together.
I got this 20 foot tank.
He's like, you know, it's basically, yes, it's two pieces of glass, but it's basically only one piece of glass.
I'm like, no, it's not.
It's definitely not.
If you're gluing two things together, it is not one piece of glass.
It has vulnerabilities.
and these things leak all the time.
Like this guy, man, his living room was soaking wet all the time.
Every time he went there, fucking buckets everywhere with hoses going in and out of them
and like quarantining stuff and moving stuff.
It was his whole fucking life.
Yeah.
He was a stay-at-home dad at the time with his kids.
Oh, he had a child.
A few.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Like four.
Just living in wetness all the time.
Oh, it was bad.
Dude, it was so wet that mold and stuff was like growing.
Of course. That's what I was going to say.
Of course.
If you have a wet interior constantly, that is like a recipe for disaster.
For sure.
Fucking sitting on carpet too.
Like it was just sitting on carpet, which these guys are like, yeah, probably don't put
them on the second floor and don't put them on carpet.
That's the two like tenants of having.
A reef tank or an aquarium.
You guys have never...
Neither of you have ever had aquariums.
I take it.
No.
You don't strike me as...
Like a little goldfish as a kid for a little while, but nothing...
No adult size aquariums.
It never appealed to me.
I think when I was younger, it appealed to me maybe to have a snake when I was a little kid at
some point.
I was like, oh, it would be cool to have like a snake, but never a fish aquarium.
It just, it always, always seemed like so much work.
Yeah.
To just have like a pet that you have zero interaction with at all.
So it's not even really, that's what you realize when you get older.
It's not even a pet.
It's like an art piece, but it has living things in it, basically.
That's like a really expensive with a lot of upkeep art piece that has living creatures in it.
With a very narrow biome for like keeping it alive successfully.
Yeah.
Any hobby that involves pH.
more complicated than coffee is like straight out.
Well, it's funny because like, you know, some of these things, like when I was growing up,
we had aquariums and like bowls.
And we did have an aquarium.
My parents would not go salt water.
They're like salt water is the worst thing in the world.
It's the work because it's hard and it's expensive and they're like the fish are expensive.
But you go look at aquariums, right?
And you're like, well, I don't want a fucking goldfish.
I want one of these fish in the same.
saltwater things. Yeah, the cool looking ones. Yeah. What, so you had aquariums with fish in them?
Just goldfish. Yeah. All goldfish. Nothing ambitious. Nothing ambitious at all. Not a good
aquarium either. They just like sort of tape some pictures of reef on the back of it and had some rocks in
it and a fish just didn't have really anything else to do. It was an ad scene on TV aquarium.
Yeah, it was bad. It was bad news. I felt sorry for the fish. Of course. I mean, well, no, they probably
had no idea. They're like, oh, look, we got reef behind us.
I mean, they're looking, they're looking back. I'm doing okay. I'm doing okay.
Well, the first post I found was on Reef Tank. This guy goes, convince the wife.
How do I convince the- This is going to be a theme, isn't it?
Oh, this thread. This thread is long and good. I will say that. These guys have some clear plans on how to convince the wife, because they've had to do it.
Yeah, this is one of the biggest convince the wife things, I would imagine.
Yeah.
Because it takes up space.
It's kind of not dangerous, but like can cause damage.
Yeah, it can go catastrophically wrong.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It can actually even, yeah, you're right.
It could go catastrophically wrong.
Like, I saw, I saw so many pictures of people who built them on the second floor.
And then went on vacation and came home and they had a hole in their ceiling.
because it leaked while they were gone.
Oh, sure.
I think we'll talk about one of those guys later.
It leaked while they were gone and everything just fell through the fucking floor.
The basement can be just as bad for other reasons.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I mean, I think it's, yeah.
Go ahead.
You know, I just think it's a bad idea overall.
You need to be super responsible and really on top of it.
And I also think that wives might not, because it changes a decor of your home as well.
Like, it's like a piece of decor.
So it becomes like the focal point of the decor of the house.
and maybe everyone doesn't want to have that sort of like, you know,
1980s Miami drug lord kind of decor in their home.
This guy goes,
first take her to the aqua.
They treat wives like daughters.
This might,
or like children.
It's so funny.
First you take her to the aquarium on a day date and find out what she's into.
Is it coral or fish or jellyfish or an enemies?
Play off what she likes.
So just,
Now you ask her or do you just kind of watch her react and see what she's most amazed with?
Standing at the aquarium.
What do you think about that?
Really aggressive A-B testing through the whole trip.
What do you think about is this?
So this is known as coral.
Is this something that you like?
That's pretty.
Hey, you think that's pretty?
Oh, not pretty?
Okay.
Hey, what about this one?
Oh, no, let's get away from the sea lions.
No, those won't fit.
Let's head back over to the coral.
and reef and small fish area.
That was endangered.
Yeah.
Next guy goes, it's my money and I want fish now.
Oh, so that's, this is a direct guy.
Tough guy.
This is the guy who, this is the five times divorced guy who is like, my, my house, my way, you know?
My favorite guy.
I mean, he didn't say it, but he's like, that's why I'm glad I'm single.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, I don't.
That's the best.
That's why I'm glad I'm single.
And that's why I'm glad, like, I don't have any friends or anything to spend money on.
This guy goes, I tell my living girlfriend 50% of what I spend and I let her name the fish.
She's into it because I'm so into it.
She was genuinely excited because I was excited the first time I had a coral split.
So he actually does not tell his girlfriend all of what he spends.
Mm-hmm.
Oh, so he lies to her a little bit.
I tell my living girlfriend 50% of what I spend.
And I let her name the fish.
Honey, you can name the fish.
You can name the fish.
This one's Nemo.
I feel like it's almost other than the lying part, that is kind of, right?
If it's like you have a partner who's like, oh, I see that you really love this and it doesn't bother me that much.
So I'm excited for you to have it, you know?
Yeah.
That's nice.
That's reasonable.
Yeah.
Just not the lying about the total budget part.
I'm lying about the finances.
I feel like, I mean, live in girlfriend, it seems like you're getting close to a situation
where you need to be up front with the financial stuff at that point.
50% can also is like a significant, unless you're spending like a dollar.
Yeah.
50% is a significant amount cut out of it.
50% of an $8,000 aquarium tank is.
Yeah.
Yeah.
A lot of money.
Yeah.
Is it like, yeah.
Is it better or worse than?
out your partner has like a hidden drinking problem.
I'd rather it because I think it's cheaper.
I think drinking is cheaper.
No, but there's a lot of other effects of drinking and stuff.
I do feel like.
I like cheap stuff.
Like I don't.
Yeah, no, I understand that.
But yeah, I feel like I would still probably rather have somebody with an aquarium.
I think, I think.
Secret aquarium habit.
Yeah.
A secret aquarium habit.
Or yeah, like I think.
I'm thinking about it now.
I'm not really sure.
What about, hey, what about this guy?
He's got a great.
idea. You two are going to love this. Pay your friend to gift you an aquarium and some fishes.
It worked fine for me.
So big time subterfuge. This is this guy, yeah, like, so what can I do? He gave me the,
I mean, it is like, listen, if you're, if you don't care about honesty or like trust
or anything like that in a relationship, this is a pretty good plan. I got to say. It's,
not though and i'll tell you why who would gift a whole aquarium in a bunch of fish to somebody yeah you
might be actually and you also might be affecting your partner's relationship with your friend now
because she might start hating him being like what this guy is like she's kind of looking at him
like this guy he's so like he's not thoughtful at all like he's so inconsiderate and shit like that
he gave you five thousand dollars worth of fish yeah and also like are yeah are you guys in a
relationship as well. That's a huge gift to give somebody.
And he's never given you any kind of gift before. He's never even like bought beers at the at the bar for you. He's always put the check 50-50.
Yeah. Wait, I've never met him. Guy goes out and hire someone off the street.
Wait, I've never even met this guy. This is a friend from work. Yeah.
I was actually walking through Pets Martin won the aquarium lottery.
Okay. One out of that 100,000 visitors. Yeah. All of this.
this bell started going off and I was like,
well,
should we leave the store?
Is that a fire alarm?
And they're like,
no, sir.
I was the 5,000th customer.
They gave me the aquarium of my dreams.
Yeah.
They just dunk the tank on you.
Like,
it's like you just hit the home run and with the gatorade.
That's actually a better than saying a friend gifted it to you,
saying you want it.
That's the thing.
That's the big,
if you're going to lie.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Then you're not involving anybody else in the lie, really.
Except for like the pet store.
Yeah, but you know what I mean?
These are strangers.
You're not like involving someone else in your life.
Yeah, telling a guy at the pet store, do not tell my wife that I didn't win at the counter.
Giving him a photo of your wife.
If this lady comes in here.
This is what you need to tell her.
Yeah.
If this woman comes in here to say, wow, it's interesting that your husband won that aquarium.
If this woman comes in here and she will, you need to tell her this.
up aquarium stuff for me on the way home.
This guy goes, show her lots of cool things and ask what she'd like to see in the tank.
Be open to some compromise.
But I love that.
I love it to be like, listen, you might not even like all the fish she likes.
Mm-hmm.
You know what I mean?
But you're going to have to put fish, dumb fish that she likes in there, too.
You know what I mean?
He goes, but try to find something you're both enthusiastic about.
like going to the aquarium idea.
If you can't go to a local fish store just to show herself, make a date out of it if you
weren't.
Echoing below, let capital letters.
Let her name the fish.
This is the key.
The main thing women want is to name the fish.
Because then she can't get mad at it.
She can't tell you to get it out of the house because she's the one who put in that, yeah.
Oh, oh, you want me to get rid of Bert and Ernie?
And then it's just like, oh, she's like, thanks about it.
She's like, yeah, gives her some connection to the fish.
I love her name the fish.
I also like that the compromise isn't just getting a yearly pass to the aquarium.
No, absolutely not because you can't just, you can't go there every single day.
And listen, I watch, there was an aquarium setup, which by the way,
is the biggest disaster that I think could ever possibly happen.
This guy, his oven was in the middle of the kitchen on like an,
you know how they'll do the oven in the middle of the kitchen on an island?
Uh-huh.
And it'll have sort of a bar on the other side of the,
where you can sit across while somebody's cooking on the oven.
There'll be a bar there.
Yeah, like the breakfast nook or whatever they call it.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
This guy took that and he made it in an aquarium, like an entire aquarium.
The kitchen.
behind the oven.
A kitchen.
A kitchen.
Yeah.
It's the whole thing.
And they were like...
And you're banging your knees into every morning before you've had coffee.
And people are like this.
People are like, uh,
don't you a little worried about like grease from cooking?
A waddle do.
Are you even,
are you maybe worried about it raising the temperature in a tank?
A little bit when you're cooking.
Like there was like several different things that people,
but people are like,
It looks awesome, though.
I love all the aquariums guys were like,
that's fucking awesome,
but I need to ask you a question.
And I was like,
that is,
because that thing's,
it was,
because it was really long.
So it was definitely two tanks together.
A double wide.
Yeah.
And,
you know,
again,
you have to glue these things together.
You know what I mean?
Like,
I don't think they glue.
two aquariums there, like they buy the glass.
You know what I mean?
But I was trying to figure out the sourcing of how they do it.
But I was just like, if you're gluing two things together, it's not welded.
It's not one piece.
It's never going to be.
It can't be.
And that's why these things are always leaking too.
Because anytime you see one, even in your life, right, you look at the corners of it and they're glued together.
You can see the little glue there.
I don't want anything like that in my house.
It's like putting a fucking baby pool in your living room.
Yeah, it's crazy.
I'm going to watch TV in there.
You don't want anything glued together in your house.
You just want it to be stuck together.
With cum.
No, I was making a Lego reference.
Oh.
Jesus.
Sorry.
My mistake.
Get something pretty.
like a rose BTA.
Like that must be a thing.
Get a rose.
Okay.
It looks like a rose.
Women love those.
Never,
absolutely never make it mean more work for her.
Negotiate about what this means.
And if you're out of the house or on vacation,
who's going to feed clean, do top off?
Do you have an auto feeder?
A friend who cannot kill your tank?
A budget for a tank sitter?
If she's willing to feed the tank while you're away,
more power to her, but don't assume she can or will.
That's good advice.
That's one maybe the best piece of advice I've so far seen on there is like, yeah, don't make this a job for her that she has to start doing.
That's really unfair.
Yeah, this guy goes, buy her something nice the week before you get your tank.
Yeah.
I mean, hey, notice your hair is looking a little curly.
Perhaps another straightener, my lady.
Yeah, then she'll be a necklace.
She'll be busy.
Yeah, she'll be too busy to even notice.
and Pickle Rick 47 says
Ha ha ha ha ha
Pickle Rick
Pickle Rick username
Change it up man
Sometimes you read the user name
Because it's funny
Yeah
He goes ha ha ha that's exactly what I did
Next thing you know my fish tank was at my front door
Next guy just says you have kids
Always the best way
Oh like pretend it's for the kids
Yeah
Oh I see
Honey, I bought something for the kids.
You mean you bought that thing you've been talking about for six years?
Isn't that like the classic trying to save the marriage thing, too, is getting like a puppy, but like even less like emotional connection?
Yeah, this is like something that's not cuddly and cute.
And again, yeah, could leak all over everything and requires a lot of extra work for everybody.
This guy goes, yes, we have two.
The O.P goes, yeah, we have two, but not old enough to be into fish.
Have a couple of years before that happens.
oldest is only two and a half. I got to tell you, they can be into fish. Charlie's huge,
Charlie is literally two and a half and he is hugely into fish. Love fish. That's like
sheepish. Yeah, that's when they're most into fish. They're all colorful and yeah. No one's like my 13 year
old is huge into betas right now. Yeah. But I think, I guess it's like they can't look after the tank,
right? Like there's no like looking after the tank. Yeah. But the idea that like a nine month old doesn't,
This guy goes, my nine-month-old will sit and stare at my 75-gallon tank for hours if we let him.
Better than TV time.
I mean, I guess.
Depends on what's on the TV.
Now he gets to tell him, like, now he gets to tell his wife.
He's like, aren't you glad I bought this?
Better than him watching TV.
Yeah, he's not sitting on the iPad all day.
Yeah.
He's looking at the tank all day.
Yeah.
Maybe there should be a tank TV channel you can watch instead.
That would be awesome.
This guy goes, the two and a half year old is definitely old enough to be into it.
My son would hang out and help with water changes it too.
Granted, I don't recommend this.
As my tanks are in the basement with a cement floor,
so his spilling everywhere wasn't a big deal.
This guy goes, why does she not want you to set up a tank?
The most important thing is figuring out why and how you can fix those problems for.
And he explains why.
Well, for starters, our home isn't very big.
Oh.
We have two small kids.
Oldest is two and a half.
now here he goes
I kind of slacked a bit back when I had
freshwater tanks had about three set up
around the house I think that made her have enough
and I had to get rid of them all
so kind of a sour taste in her mouth on the whole fish experience
which is obviously my fault yeah so she so he
when he says he slacked a little bit
I think he just let him die he stopped cleaning
stop cleaning though yeah yeah but I'll tell you
why I think he stopped cleaning him
because they were fresh water tanks.
And that's not what he wanted.
Like he wanted salt water tank so he could have the crazy stuff.
And this is the excuse to get a reset on like a subconscious level.
Okay.
Yeah.
Yeah, yeah.
Because I think he got the, yeah, he got, he probably was broke, which I get it.
I was too.
And he wanted an aquarium and you just broke.
If you're really broke, you can't.
Can I get a saltwater?
It's just so expensive to get saltwater aquarium and fish and stuff like that.
And so it's that thing where like I don't have any money.
I want to do this thing.
I'll do the version of it that I can pay for with my money.
You know what I mean?
And I'll bet you he did that.
And then he was like, I didn't really want these.
Like this wasn't what I wanted.
And I don't like this.
I like the other thing that I want.
also has two small children.
I agree.
Had a small apartment.
Could have had something to do with that.
You have children and it's become very busy and it's hard to, you know, and then maybe
the fish are the things that you stop taking care of, which is what, that is the correct
choice.
If it's a choice between continuing to take care of the children or the fish, you should
stop taking care of the fish.
But you should find them at home where they can be taken care of.
Get rid of them, you know?
Like bite the bullet.
Because now any mention of a take and she immediately shoots down the idea.
I have a bunch of stuff in the garage that needs to be gone through.
I basically have all the equipment ready to set up a tank,
but obviously don't want to upset her if she keeps saying no to the idea.
So this guy bought all the stuff.
No, he has it all from before, probably, right?
I mean, yeah, but it's a different thing.
You know what I mean?
Like what he's trying to build is a different thing.
But maybe he isn't.
But you just think that, right?
He might not want to sell it.
He might just be, I want to give it another go.
Well, on a reef tank subreddit, I don't think.
Okay.
This guy just says, and we've heard this one,
for men with hobbies are better men.
Mm-hmm.
I mean that, yeah.
It is true.
It is true.
Doing things that they like.
You're, you know,
building positive experiences and feeling better overall.
That's probably true for anyone,
not just men.
I think that's true for all that.
That's true for all people, I think.
This guy says,
tell her it's this or a PS5.
Wait, what?
It's one of the two things.
Why?
A one-time cost that can play hundreds of games in Blu-ray versus an ongoing expense that costs thousands a year?
Listen, that's the two things, Lauren.
There's two things.
There's the fish tank and the PS5.
And the PS5 is meant as like it's meant to throw her, like it's meant to be this crazy thing where she's just like, oh, God, okay, if it's a BS5 or this, we'll definitely go.
Like, there's no way she could be interested in playing video games herself.
It's like, oh, never mind.
Yeah.
Please get the fish tank.
I didn't, yeah.
No, I didn't realize of the other.
I didn't think about the other possibilities.
Yeah, how bad this could get.
The first guy that responds goes,
she's smart.
She picks the PS5.
Way cheaper.
True.
That's what, yeah.
True, like a year ago.
Nowadays, who knows?
Yeah.
Oh, yeah.
With the Ramagan and whatnot.
The Aquarium might make more sense financially now.
Yeah, explain to her about Ramagand.
Yeah.
this guy goes oh speaking of PS5 the OP goes oh speaking of PS5 I'm getting one this Christmas
no negotiating on that funny you should mention the big Christmas boy he's a big Christmas boy
I'm getting a PS5 and I ain't asking my wife all right I went straight to Santa Claus
yourself a present as an adult and putting it from Santa Claus so your wife can't say anything.
Next guy says, say you'll get a Nemo and she'll be convinced.
Yep.
And finally, this guy says it's either the Fisher anal weekly.
It's up to you.
These guys are, I mean, that is truly a horrific thing to say.
I mean, that is truly, like, to your word.
wife who you're sharing your life with
the mother of your children
you're like listen
I'm getting a fish tank where I'm fucking your ass every
that's so horrible
you can't really think of a worse
a worse like thing to say yeah that guy
that guy who said that has never even been on a date
before I mean this is going to be the tank
and it's going to be in the girl dinner diary
format of the essay about how she left him and the picture is the brand new tank.
Anoint comments from friends and family about your tank.
This is from R slash aquariums.
You shouldn't get a shark.
You should get like 30 piranhas.
That'd be sick.
Dude, get a huge octopus.
Yeah, I like it.
You need bigger, more colorful fish.
And out of black light.
Bro, get a shark.
Those are some.
This guy's just naming a few annoying things that.
friends and relatives upset about his tank i mean sharks are cool so are piranhas piranhas are cool
they have them at the vancouver aquarium they have the piranhas and i always wanted one i wanted one
so i could throw a ham in there and watch them go crazy yeah yeah yeah go ham on it yeah that's
that's where the term came from i think yeah they have i mean they got all kind of cool stuff at
the aquarium they have an anaconda like a giant anaconda it's right close i got one of those too
Jesus Christ.
Lauren's face as she sort of looked a little bit like and then realized what he's
referring to the disappointment.
Lauren, this is what happens when you see what happens you've been on so many times.
You're a friend of the show now.
So you get that benefit of Brian being comfortable enough in your presence to say the
horrific things that he says normally only on the bonus episodes and stuff like that.
I had a friend send me a pick from the pet store saying she was getting me a bala shark for my 20 g.
That's 20 gallons.
No, don't randomly gift me any fish, let alone a freaking ballad shark.
I don't know.
Is that a big one?
Probably not, right?
They got to be small, right?
You can't have a lot of sharks in your house, I don't think.
You can't have a big shark.
You'd have to have a giant tank to have like even a big shark.
a reef shark or something in there.
So these kind of be...
A small shark would present some problems for like non-sharks in the tank.
I agree.
Also, if I was him, I would say, hey, instead of bringing me a shark, why don't you bring
me a shark cutery?
Yeah.
There you go.
That's very reasonable.
Hey, I'm having a dinner party tonight.
Why don't you bring a charcutory instead of a shark.
Instead of a live shark.
Yeah.
I prefer the shark cutery.
Ignore it.
It's people talking about something they most likely know nothing about.
It's going to happen no matter what you can.
can't please anyone but yourself. It's your hobby, not theirs. These guys are coming off so
aggressive to me against, like, people just saying like, you know, of course they're going to
say something stupid. They don't sit around and study fish all the time, you know? Yeah. And it's,
I guess it is just for them. Like, I always pictured it as a thing that is meant to impress people
when they come in. No, it's not. It is their thing. I mean, they want you to be impressed.
but if you're not impressed, they're like, that's because you don't know anything.
Yeah.
But like, yeah, I mean, you have to understand, hey, you have this big display thing.
People who are a little ignorant to the hobby are going to come in and say sort of like
mainstream ideas of what it is.
And that's it, big, colorful fish, sharks, things like that.
That's kind of part of it.
Yeah, do you have one from finding Nemo?
Yeah, Dory.
Do you have Dory?
And they have a tank at the Vancouver Aquarium that has the Nemos and the Dori's in there.
big time, very popular with the kids, as you can imagine.
That's stupid kids.
It's meant for kids.
I mean, the aquarium is very much meant for kids in a lot of ways.
Yeah, you just laugh it off and say,
ha, yeah, when I get a 10,000 gallon.
Yeah, yeah, say that to them.
This guy goes, I had a pleasant experience with everyone
that bothered to look at the tanks that's either, ooh, prettier,
or they don't care about them.
And the guy goes, I usually never point out my tanks to visitors,
almost always they get ignored, which I really don't mind.
Once on a blue moon, someone will come over that's knowledgeable about the hobby.
And it's awesome to have them in person combo with another hobbyist.
So I don't know why he's, like, why he's got a bunch of different guys coming to his house all the time.
But I do like that the guy, if I got, he never, he's just like, there's just fish tanks there.
You don't have to look at those.
He doesn't want to be subject to any like withering takedowns.
No, he feels like
Like he did initially want people to notice them
And then people weren't really noticing them or caring about him
And now he's like resigned to the fact that
Hey, they're just there
Like it sounds to me like it's almost with a heavy heart
That he says, no, no one really cares about my fish tanks and all
But that's totally fine.
I don't even this is someone who's been beaten down by society.
Yeah.
Yeah, it's sad.
Here's a this is this is a weird
one here.
Dear part,
this is from R slash rant.
Hmm, I love a good rant.
Oh, you'll love this.
Do you like rant comedy, Lauren, at all?
Do you like rant kind of comedy?
Oh, sure.
Who didn't like that Dennis Leary song when they were 14?
Oh, yeah, Dennis Leary and Dennis Miller, too.
It's a very Dennis-based industry.
And Dennis Miller is the king of a Dennis Leary, he is.
He does the famous okay.
Okay.
Okay.
Like that's how you know it's a rant.
If anybody's like, okay.
Either that or they have to
they got to have that Dennis Miller thing.
It's like bootroes, boonteros.
Yeah, if he was doing it, if he was doing it.
That's like the Bill Barr school.
If he was doing it nowadays, Dennis Miller, and maybe he is.
I don't know.
Last I saw he was doing like some sort of like speaking tour with Bill O'Reilly or something.
I saw he was doing poor health-wise.
I don't think it's Bill O'Reilly.
but it's one of those guys.
But he,
imagine him,
you know,
he's like,
more narrow than the straight of Hormuz.
He would be all over the Hormuz, right?
He wouldn't.
Well,
yeah,
but he would also say like,
he would say the straight of Hormuz,
but he would add some sort of like,
um,
literary reference that I wouldn't understand.
Yeah,
yeah,
yeah.
Like 19th century geopolitics,
going back to like the Shaw or something.
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah, totally.
And he would say it and then you'd only start knowing about it from hearing him say it over and over again.
Like Butros, Boutros, golly.
Yeah, which is the only name I know.
And the whole, I can't find.
Oh, I see him.
Okay.
He doesn't look like he's dying.
Okay.
It's fine.
Nice.
A picture of him with a hawk on his Instagram.
Oh, nice.
On his arm.
Yep.
Dear part-time college student pet smart employee, please spare me the sanctimonious bullshit and just sell me the $1.29 fish.
I came in to buy.
Yeah, I understand I shop in a town where many employees have chain stores or students
in a small local liberal arts school.
Yeah, I understand that.
PetSmart employees, I understand that pet smart employees feel a sense of duty to explain
the optimal living conditions for all of the pets they sell, bigger small.
I don't think they have feel that sense of duty.
I believe it literally is their duty as an employee, probably what they're trained to do.
Yeah.
But this guy wants to do the parks and rec, Ron.
I know more than you speech
and this is one narrow lane
where he can do that.
That is actually...
Yeah, that's totally true
where it's like,
he's literally, did you not...
So you recognize that this is like important
for most people, but you're saying like,
spare it for me like,
because I already know it.
Like, how do they know that you know it?
You're in there all the time.
I see.
Maybe he's in there all the time buying like really advanced fish stuff.
Mm-hmm.
You know what I mean?
So he's like,
you should start picking up on my purchase.
Just, yeah, like the way that, like, my purchase history should look into that and stuff before you have a conversation with me.
I do wonder what a $1.29 fish is.
Like goldfish.
For what, though?
What do you mean?
I mean, I guess he's just a goldfish guy.
Maybe this is like a starter fish for a friend.
Oh, yeah.
Maybe.
His friend gave him a bunch of money.
He would never settle for a $1.25 fish himself.
But he's trying to get someone else into the hobby.
this is how you do it.
He goes, yes, I understand that these employees see many underprepared customers
whom they feel don't understand the responsibilities of owning a pet from fish to puppies.
But for Pete's sake, when I come in with three excited kids, age seven, down to three,
and I explained that I've maintained aquariums in various forms for the last 20 years.
Explaining unprompted to the pet smart employee that I've maintained aquariums.
for 30 years.
And the 17-year-old Zumer kids just like,
I got to read the card, man.
They make me read the card.
This is literally in my training.
If I don't say it,
they do these secret shopper things
where if I don't say it,
then I'll get in trouble and maybe get fire.
Listen, I've been doing aquariums for 20 years.
Like the guy's getting the fish out of the tank
and kind of talking to him.
And he's just like, spare me the bullshit.
I've been doing this for 20 years.
I know everything.
I've been doing this since you've been,
you know,
since before you were born, Jr.
Also,
saying that he had three excited kids,
I think it's like,
so they became unexcited when he told him the living,
like they're like,
oh, he's making my dad look like a fool.
Oh, I see.
Hey, dad,
I thought you said you know all this stuff.
Why is he feeling the need to tell you these things?
Should you not be educating him?
They made me look like a fool.
He goes,
but I know which.
breeds can live together peacefully. Could you just go ahead and grab three that look different from one
another so each kid knows which fish is his or hers? Yeah, I know Mollies are schooling fish and yeah,
I know how to feed them and yeah, I know that they need a water pump and yes, I understand
the limits of a 10 gallon tank and yes, I understand the gravel needs to be rinse before putting
in a tank, but could you please end your damn 20 minute lecture so my 3 year old will quit trying
to eat the dog toys in the next aisle? And Rand, thanks for listening.
That was a good rant.
That's a thumbs up rant for me.
Kids eating the dog toys.
Yeah.
A little joke.
It's a little joke.
This is definitely embellished, right?
Like maybe the employee said like two of those things and the rest were just like him airing his grievances.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Didn't go for 20 minutes either.
Definitely.
Right.
This was like a 45 second sort of little spiel that the employee has to give.
Yeah.
Do you need to buy new rocks?
Yeah.
Yeah.
And he's just like, please spare me the sanctimonious bullshit.
Also, not understanding though, like, he does it to everybody because a lot of people do not know.
And he doesn't know who knows.
Yeah.
Like the employee doesn't know who knows and who doesn't.
And you'd imagine maybe there's a lot of like, I don't want to like discriminate against men here.
But men particularly possibly might come in and say, I know all.
this shit and they actually don't know all of it you know that could be a thing that happens from time
to time right you could get one of those a i t-shirts that say like uh i've been fucking around
with tanks for 20 years like some kind of like yeah tough guy thing on the front of it so and wear that
in every time you go in like nobody messes with a 35 like a 70 year old grandpa with three tanks and
45 years of fish experience yeah yeah
45 years of fish experience.
It's so funny.
This guy goes, I work at a pet store similar.
Not going to say which one for obvious reasons.
And we're actually forced to do this because the higher-ups will condemn us for not doing it due to potential, quote, liability.
Yeah.
In this case, if something goes wrong when we sell a live animal and the customer comes back seeking a refund, you can't get a refund on a pet.
I would never try.
Don't look at me like that.
I would never try to get a pet refund.
I don't know about that
Never
Mr. Cheapy refund
Oh hey I bought this fish
It died I'd like a fucking refund
That might fly at a place like
Costco but PetSmart's not messing around with any of that
Yeah yeah
He goes granted it it might be a different state
Different animal care laws etc
But laws and regulations where I'm from are crazy strict
And get the store in a lot of trouble
If something goes wrong to a live animal
side note i'm not agreeing with the employee because good one can explain everything at a very short time frame
which i'm sure they did which they did yes which i'm sure they did because you learn to cut out the
unnecessary stats and info and crap and give the customer straight facts i'm sure they did again it had
nothing to do with the length of it he put that to give people on his side but it just had to do with the
fact that this guy was not respecting his knowledge and fish that's all it was also i don't know why
he couldn't get a different fish for you if you wanted schooling fish they can coexisted
exist in schooling and community, which makes up to 80% of the fish most common pet stores sell.
Plus, every one of them looked different.
That employee fucked up hard on that interaction.
However, he did what he was told to do, so he isn't wrong.
He just didn't do it right if that makes sense.
This guy's both sides doing this, and I hate it.
I hate this centrist.
I hate this centrist fish guy.
Well, here's a guy that comes after it because you know how they said it's a Gen Z employee.
Uh-oh.
This guy goes, it just says in quotes, here's your change.
vote burning.
When is that?
It must be an old pose then, yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
But still.
Yeah.
No one likes being condescended to.
Like I can get up, I can get irritated when like IT at work is like ignoring like,
I understand where that's coming from.
I'll have like the shower argument with someone afterwards too.
But like you in the moment, you can still just be like, thanks.
I'll keep that in mind.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I mean, I had that with like.
when I was getting the computer I'm using now fixed over months.
And they would start explaining.
Oh, actually, a better example, this makes me sound like a chode though.
Let's hear it.
Let's hear it.
Back when I was a cable guy.
Oh, I told this story so many times.
And it's not as cool as it sounds, but I told it like it was the coolest thing in the world so many times.
So it's going to be kind of weird for me to tell somebody what I did.
I don't think I was self-aware enough about it,
but I would sometimes when I didn't have any work at the cable company,
I'd go walk around like Best Buy or a place like that.
You know what I mean?
And I was walking around this place, H.H. Greg,
which is basically Best Buy,
but everybody's on commission.
And I was kind of looking at the TVs
because I was like in the market for a new TV.
Guy comes up to me, starts talking.
Now, this is the story I told.
Guy comes out to me, starts talking, he tells me some crazy thing about TV picture quality and stuff like that.
And I'm like, and then I turned around and he saw I was wearing a uniform for the cable company.
And he backed right all.
I love just like in a movie, like the zoom in on like the thing and then it's like he's just like you see his brows sweating.
And he's like, uh, I'm very sorry, sir.
please
what really happened is
I turned around
and I was like well
I mean that's not actually
how it works
but like whatever
you know what I mean
like I ended up deferring
to the guy
because I'm a coward
you know what I mean
yeah yeah yeah yeah
because it's just like
I know what you're doing
you have to sell these things
you know what I mean
like to live
because it's commission
yeah
it wasn't like
but it didn't even happen
the way I described
described it when I went back to work the next day and was telling the story and people were like,
damn, holy shit.
That was fucking crazy, man.
That's crazy, man.
I can't believe he would fucking say that.
Imagine how he must have felt when he saw.
Like, imagine how he fucking must have felt that.
I like to think he's back at the electronics store telling the story about how he impressed
you and got the nod.
Oh, yeah.
He's telling him.
really knows. He's telling a whole different story. Yeah, where he's just like, and then he turned,
and then the guy was like, holy shit, man, you got a lot of knowledge about this stuff. And then get
this, he turns around. This is a professional cable guy in uniform. And I'm like, holy shit, man.
Another rant newsflash for the R Aquarium's ass clowns.
There's a small number of R slash aquariums contributors and posters who are dedicated.
or referencing absolutely insane minimum tank sizes for basic small tropicals and goldfish.
According to this self-reinforcing clown show literally any tank is too small.
A single fish needs 100 gallons per millimeter of length.
A feeder goldfish needs a sea world whale shark size tank.
I think you're exaggerating a little bit.
That's an exaggeration.
That's a huge exaggeration.
And by the way, if you want it, I'm not talking about SeaWorld because it's,
It's not a home thing.
But on R slash, if you ever want to, go to R slash rants and type C World.
And don't read the ones where people are mad at SeaWorld.
Read the ones where they're mad because people are mad at Sea World.
I see.
Those are great rants.
I'll probably have to look at for the main, for the bonus show sometime because this person was like,
yeah, I mean, how do you know animals don't like do?
doing tricks. You know what I mean? Like they're treating it like it must be nice to learn a skill as a whale.
I do have some immediate, I have been thinking about that exact question recently because I went to the Baltimore Aquarium recently.
And the Baltimore Aquarium is in the process of figuring out what to do with its dolphins.
Like because they were like they were ready in captivity so they can't whatever like they have to be in some kind of shelter.
And they still have the big facility where like there's the dolphin show.
used to be, but they have a sign up that's like, we don't do the show anymore, but if we're
feeding them, you can sit here and they might do tricks. And we don't encourage them to
tricks, but they might still do it. And people do. And I couldn't figure out if you're supposed
to still clap. I think you can clap still. It is impressive when they do a trick. Yeah.
Does the dolphin understand showmanship is the core of my... Exactly. Yeah. And my thing is like,
this person's like yelling about like because people are like yeah man you know they don't want to be trained to jump through hoops and shit like that and this person's like how you like they said it kind of like when somebody tells you to when you get a job that can be transferable to a bunch of different fields like I don't know why this keeps coming up but when I was at the cable company I always felt like I always felt like well the one thing that I can do the one thing that I'm safe in is that anywhere in the country I move I'm
I can get that job.
That's a job that I can do.
They're always hiring and I know how to do it.
And even now I still think that.
Like, well, if I ever have to get a real job again,
I can probably go to the cable company with very small amount of training and do it again.
So it's like a skill.
And that's the way they're like treating these dolphins where they're like,
how do you know they don't like to learn a skill?
And it's like, what are you talking about?
They don't know they're learning a skill.
Well, dolphins are pretty smart.
they might know that they're learning a skill they might yeah they might use it to their advantage
if they did actually go back into the wild yeah they got rid of they used to have like whales and
and uh dolphins and stuff at the Vancouver aquarium and they got rid of all of those definitely
i would say that's like the evil thing is is is whales and dolphins I would say like the idea
it's a little bit it's a little bit obviously all the ones of the Vancouver you know they're rescued
and it's like a situation where I think
you know, the sea lions and stuff like that.
But there is a certain sadness when you go and see the sea lions and they're just doing
the same route over and over again, just kind of swimming around.
And there is like a sadness and you wonder, oh, should I even be, you know.
But there's like a huge focus on it.
It's not just like look at the animals.
There's like a, you know, it's like a different sort of idea.
I think all of them are, most of them are like that now, right?
Where it's like they're talking about like, yeah, they're talking about like,
educating people on things and stuff like that yeah and like there's like a rehabilitation for the
animal yeah yeah i saw a few because i was reading some quora stuff about why they don't have
great white sharks at aquariums some coral stuff some good one i'm really sorry i'm trying
i'm getting my kill tony set together for in case i get pulled from the bucket i go every week
and i'm hoping to get pulled from the bucket one week so i've been working on my stuff lately
But yeah, just a lot of people asking like, why don't they have any fucking great white sharks in any of these aquariums?
And it's like, I mean, that seems on top of just they're big.
And I didn't know this.
So I'm not taking credit.
But the way that they breathe is by moving fast and the gills like filling up or whatever.
So they have to have like a lot of space.
But it's like also they'll eat the other fucking animals in there too.
Or they're great white sharks.
They're hard to feed.
and stuff like there's a little bit of danger involved in having these things that have killed people
a lot and how are you going to catch them how are you going to because a lot of times these guys a lot of times
these guys man they're just asking they're they don't understand that you have to go get the stuff but they can
catch a great white shark they have like the cages or whatever you know like they could do those are for you
not then no i understand but they've done it before they've definitely captured sharks before but took
them to a place? I don't think so. I'm not... Yeah, they left them in the ocean. I think there are
like facilities where you can, uh, where they like will like heal or like tag sharks. Yeah,
that's what I was thinking that. I'm not sure. You're right though. That is a good question. Have they
taken great white sharks and they've taken them to a place? One at the Monterey, uh, California
aquarium had one that was a baby for a very short amount of time. I read like all. I read like a
about it yesterday.
They had one that was a little baby for a very short amount of time and then they released
it once it was because it was hurt or something.
Yeah.
And they released it once it was not hurting anymore.
They got it out of there.
So it was not like a huge great white and the thing.
It was like a smaller.
It was still big.
It's still big ass fish, but it was smaller.
It was a lesser white.
Yeah.
And it's funny that you said that about the seahorses because a lot of the reviews I read
of Aquarius.
Sea lions.
Yeah.
Sea lions.
Sea lions.
Same thing.
No big difference.
Seahorses are the same.
Big difference.
Sea lions are huge.
Are they?
I thought they were the same size of sea horses.
Sea lions,
you don't know what a sea lion is.
You got to look at a.
Sea lions are insanely big.
I thought they were small little guys.
No, no, no, no, no, quite the opposite.
They are huge.
Oh.
I mean, they're big.
They're hundreds of pounds.
Yeah.
There's one that like there's currently like a menace somewhere where the sea
line keeps like flopping through the neighborhood and like taking down fences and shit.
Yeah.
I think it's like a real problem in some small town in Australia.
I feel like they're like a thousand pounds some of them.
The mail is are so big.
The males are huge.
Are they California?
There's different types of, yeah, there's California.
Yeah.
There's a bunch of different types of there's like the stellar sea line.
There's a bunch of different kinds.
But I just, before we get back to the post, I do want to brag about the fact that I did in the, I've seen a lot of stuff in the wild.
And like I swam.
was I was in the middle of open.
I've maybe mentioned this before because I love to brag about it.
I was in open ocean and came face to face with a tiger shark, which is like a very
aggressive, large, scary shark.
And it was the scariest thing that I've ever experienced in my life because I was so far
away from, hmm?
You're out of hedonism too, doing one of their excursions.
I was not at hedonism too.
I was in the Bahamas when I was in the ball.
Because I do have an excursion at hedonism too where you can go out and scuba dive naked.
with the animals.
Yeah, I believe it.
I believe it.
I would be horrified.
A fucking shark coming, bite your penis off.
Bite your penis off.
Yeah.
Bite your penis right off.
I think that is the fear of all, man.
It would scuba die of naked that the shark can to bite your penis off.
That was like 45 minutes of jaws they cut for time.
But yeah, sharks are so fucking scary.
Like a big aggressive sharks are so scary.
And, yeah, being out in the ocean where you're, like, in their habitat and they just swim so much faster than you.
Really terrifying.
You can understand they don't feel, none of those big creatures feel like they should be in an aquarium at all.
No, no, I would agree with you, like, where it's just like, man, I'm not like a, you know, me.
I'm not like Mr. Animal guy.
You hate animals.
I do not care about them.
It's not that I hate that.
I don't hate them.
I don't care about animals.
It's one of the most heinous things that a person can say.
You don't care.
We're animals.
It's like you don't care about living.
Sure, I care about people.
That's the animal I care.
I care about animal people.
Okay.
But like, you know, we share the earth with these.
You don't have to be like a conserved, like a conservation type person or like, you know,
green peas or whatever to say that you just like, you respect and care.
care about other animals.
Yeah, you just don't want to be around them.
I don't want them to be hurt or whatever.
That's good. Okay.
That's not what I'm saying.
I'm saying I could not care.
It's like stars and moon.
I talk about that all the time too.
It's like stars and moon.
So you're not doing the I would like
strangle every chimp in the world to save one human being like Penn and
Taller thing.
Now I wouldn't do so.
I don't want to hurt any else.
Because he doesn't want to be anywhere near them.
That's the only reason why.
He doesn't, he finds him.
I don't even want, I don't care to be around them.
But you say you don't care.
They're uncontrollable.
That's the thing about them.
It's like I don't have control over.
I can't be like, hey man, back off to an animal.
Pick a town a notch.
Yeah.
Hey.
Huh.
Come on.
You can't reason.
You can't reason.
You can't reason with my headphones in and ignore it.
Like it doesn't exist.
Well, you can.
You know what I mean?
But it could also decide just to bite me.
But so could a human.
being. Oh yeah, I'd imagine a human being would just bite me. Well, they might punch you in the
face or something, though, right? Not me. Okay. They see me walking down the street. Okay, tough guy,
Brian's here.
Tough guy showed up. Is there any animal that you like love that you'd be excited about seeing or
whatever? Because I'm the exact opposite of you. I'm like seeing wildlife for me is one of the
joys of life. I mean, I'm just not a nature guy, dude. Yeah.
I mean, I like nature a little bit, you know.
Like when we go out, me and Katie go to these parks, I'm mostly doing that for her.
I know.
I know.
You make that very clear to me and to her.
And she's always like, look at that.
She'd always be like, let's go stand on top of the parking garage.
Look at the moon.
And I was like, I've seen the moon.
A hundred million times.
And every time we go out there, she's like, that's fucking.
incredible the moon and I'm like it's the moon. You're like it's still there. Yeah. It's like watching
the same movie over and over again. Like you wouldn't be fascinated to see like a grizzly bear or whatever.
I would be scared to see a grizzly man. Grizzly would be scary. It would be scary but like in a
situation where you're not in danger say and you just saw that you know like you were maybe on an
elevated thing or whatever it was in the wild but there was no danger to you. I wouldn't well fine.
I would, I would. A big Canadian nice big moose.
Here's the thing. If I was there and I saw it, I'd be like, look at that. You know?
Yeah. But what am I going to do? stare at it? All they do is like eat and walk around and crack.
If I see a bear, which I've seen bears before, I'll just stare at it for as long as I can. I will literally sit there and look at us. I've sat there and looked at a bear for an hour and a half.
Yeah, you do. Okay. I don't even get.
You don't get that one? I don't get that one. I don't get that.
what you're into bears oh you're being homophobic yeah i see i gotcha sometimes i forgot i forgot i forgot
that you're a homophoffat that's my fault i was trying to figure out what you were part of the
brand i was trying to figure out what you were saying there because i forgot would really be more on theme for
the episode otter yeah that's a good call they have otters at the very cute the way they play with
wait are otters guys otter is a is a gay uh uh is a gay uh
It's a classification of a gay male.
Yeah, I think.
Is he hairless?
I don't know exactly what it is because I'm not down so much with the bear is a very famous one.
Lauren, what is an otter?
What is an otter?
No, I'd really rather let you guys work this out for first principles.
Is it a hairless guy?
No, otters have hair, so it wouldn't be a hairless guy.
So I could be an otter.
It wouldn't be a, it wouldn't be a, it wouldn't be a.
I have hardly any hair.
Okay.
I got a little tough on my chest.
I think that's, I think that's probably true.
Okay.
You would not be an honor.
You have a hair on my chest right here, but I don't have much hair anywhere else.
My legs.
But they're not even that hairy.
My friends used to make fun of me.
I have quite a bit of hair, I would say.
I mean, I have, yeah, like I have hair on my chest.
Not a lot, but I have some, yeah.
You're not like, it's not like Austin Powers level.
No, it's not.
Hey, I'm not Robin Williams over here.
Oh, look at the hair.
This is a quora question that I ran to.
Is it feasible to have an aquarium large enough to swing?
and submerge most of my body in.
I'm willing to put in $10,000
up front and $100
a month in maintenance. No
preference toward fresh, brackish or salt
water and no need for exotic or
expensive fish. So he wants
to get in his... Yeah.
He wants to get in his aquarium.
Yeah. You can't pay an actual
aquarium to let you do that.
Yes, you can, but I don't think
he... I think he wants to do that
in his house. Yeah, he wants
that experience at home.
Yeah, he wants, he looks at, he's like, I went to the aquarium.
He doesn't clear anything up, by the way, because I went to the aquarium.
I saw all the stuff in there.
And then I saw them feeding the animals.
There's people down there swimming around.
Can I get that in my living room?
Wait, that $10,000.
They don't have that in Vancouver.
You can go in the aquarium?
David and Vegas.
A lot of aquariums have like a program where you, if you're like a friend of the aquarium
him and you pay him something you can like be the person who goes in and cleans the tank for the
day or something damn good way to show i don't know all the details but there's someone doing it when
i was there last and it wasn't like an employee it was like i'm an enthusiast uh like diver and it's
like that's wild to me that's wild to me that's why this isn't a chris goes the aquarium
i'll tell you he's not even a friend of the aquarium i mean i have a membership i'm i have a
membership i have a yearly member that counts i think i'm a friend of there i think you're
a friend of the aquariums you're a friend of the aquariums you're a friend of the aquarium
There's different tiers of it, though, so I feel like if they did offer that, it would be on the higher tier,
and I only pay for the lowest tier of the membership.
Well, a person does answer this question and says, yes, you can visit aquariums like this in Vegas,
where everything is done on a large scale.
Things change there, of course, but one that comes to my mind was the wall behind the checking counter at a hotel.
I saw a girl inside that aquarium doing an algae scrub on the front glass.
As far as cost goes, that depends entirely on the cost of the materials and manufacturers,
in your area. Great answer to a question.
Like, such a funny thing to be like,
as far as how much is it going to cost,
that'll depend on a few factors,
cost of materials and labor in your area,
as well as how much your labor you're willing to do yourself.
The cost of the filtration and lighting systems
as well as the cost of the electricity and run them
are factors you need to do research on.
Even the cost of water needs to be factored in
as you'll need to do regular water changes
regardless of filtration.
Why does he want to go in the...
He said he doesn't care about the fit.
Like he wants to swim around with fish, though?
Is that what he's saying?
Like, because why not just get a thing and just sit in like a tub or whatever, right?
I think he wants it to be an aquarium.
I think he wants aquarium stuff in it.
Yeah, he wants to like...
But he doesn't want to follow the actual aquarium rules.
Yeah.
He wants to like do his own home scuba diving, basically.
So he does want to have like fishery.
So it's like the way that people want to scuba dive or whatever, he wants to just go into his.
That sounds, you'd have to have a huge tank, right?
Yeah, this idiot climbing in and sitting down on a fish and crushing it.
Like, I just hate this guy.
Yeah, I mean, how much did he say he's willing to spend?
By the way, yeah, you can't get something like that for 10 grand.
I can't imagine.
No.
And maintenance is definitely more than $100 a month.
I mean, it would have to be.
I know through
seeing like this kind of thing on Instagram
there are like companies that will like build you a
premier high end tank
and like do all the maintenance for you
because I know like there's some celebrities
like who are in on that
if he's asking the question
on Reddit he's not ready for that
experience he's not willing to fork over
like the private aquarium guy money
oh yeah this is so much
this is like wealthy
person type stuff
to have like a gigantic aquarium
that you can swim around in.
That is like, yeah, that's crazy.
Like the guy I'm aware of
who's like a celebrity who's into this is like the second
basement for the Braves is a big aquarium guy.
Who's that?
Ozzy Albies.
Okay.
Actually a great follow on Instagram, like Ozzy Albie
tanks. Chris doesn't know
nothing about baseball. That's not
true at all. In fact, hey, Lauren,
how about the Js? I mean, they lost
yesterday as the time we're
recording this but they are making a third wildcard slot though i think making a push i think they're
half game out right now but i don't want to date this but yeah they're they're definitely making a push
i think that uh yeah it was a pretty good pretty good little half and half at the trade deadline where
they unloaded some stuff but also added some good pieces as well august 17th 2026 don't do that
why would you do that this this episode comes over in a while i'll date whatever i'll date
whatever I want.
This is, well, now you sound like me.
That's true.
This is two weeks.
We're recording this two weeks in advance, so you have really dated this.
There is a television show called Tanked.
I don't know if either one of you have heard of tanked.
I have not.
What network is it on?
This is a discovery thing.
Okay, sounds like that's.
It's about a company called acrylic tank manufacturing.
The biggest aquarium manufacturer in the U.S., they create over the top aquariums for a wide array of
clients, some celebrities, some
just rich guy. Yeah, up
to 50,000 gallons inside.
So, uh, I
decided to check IMDB for some
reviews of it and they're good.
They're very good.
Very, very good.
Number one, one out of 10.
Morons.
Brett and Wade are morons.
But on occasion their staff create cool looking
impractical aquariums. Fake reality
show was scripted stupidity
to intercade the uneducated
easily pleased general public.
These guys don't know shit about aquariums.
This guy goes, they're no longer in business.
The brothers were so successful.
The big guy divorced and moved out of Vegas while the bald guy sold the business and now runs a pizza place.
Good for them.
I still passed by the ATM shop that I've heard is no longer making aquariums.
They remove the home of tanked signage.
I never cared for the show as Breton Wade annoyed the heck out of me.
While the in-products looked good, I couldn't help but think the tanks were nothing more than props for the show.
As many have said, there's no follow-ups to the fish.
Reports are many had died shortly after construction of the tanks.
Sad.
And since I live here in Vegas, I visited the casinos where tanks were made, and many are long gone now.
Oh, I see.
So they would make them for casinos.
That would make sense.
All kinds of places.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
But at the end, it says, makes you wonder.
I guess.
Yeah.
It does make it.
10 out of 10.
Great show.
Tank, that's a great show.
It's about two aquarium builders named Bret and Wade and their adventures, struggles, and humor while building.
They also like to have fun, such as pranks.
Yeah.
They work hard, but they also play hard as well.
They're like gloomy.
They do pranks and jokes.
Oh, man.
I love a good prankster.
You know me.
I love pranks.
Yeah.
I mean,
that is one thing we agree on.
Pranks are good.
We love pranks.
PH is supposed to be six.
I've got it at six four.
Let's see if whatever the guy's name is notices.
They also like to have fun such as pranks, jokes, and amusements.
The tank they build and they fish and the fish they show are beautiful and amazing.
Although the comedy.
pranks are sometimes obviously acted or scripted.
It's still an amazing show.
This guy loves the pranks.
This guy loves the comedy of tanked.
I just picture what it is too, right?
It's that classic like reality show like you're saying like it's just like the most set
up like you know, like it's so obviously everybody's aware of it.
It's obviously for the cameras to try to make the show more entertaining.
I can like those types of those are all it's just the least funny and like toughest to watch kind of prank and jokes.
Yeah, I think it's the, I think like it's like what's that show American Pickers.
After a while and I those guys hated each other at the end, I believe.
But it's like it's all so staged when you're watching it that or like the ones that are like gator guys.
where they're just out, you know, looking for gators or whatever.
And you're like, come on, man.
But he goes, sometimes the guys get through some huge trouble through building.
And it seems like they can't fix it.
But of course they do.
Each customer they have is always surprised.
And so am I.
I just hope each show keeps up with its wonderful ideas, except the obvious acting.
And it's a wonderful tank.
I wish I had their job.
It's a 10 out of 10.
Here's another 10 out of 10.
awesome tanks.
They built amazing fish tanks.
I wish the show was still on the air because I love the show.
I tuned into the show for the fish tanks and laughs.
I have one star.
They don't know much.
I was watching an episode where they made a photo booth aquarium and they put an
axolotle in a freshwater tank with no hiding spots on,
with no hiding spots on gray and gave the worst with other fish.
If you know anything about axelotles, you'll know this is a big no-no.
I do know quite a bit about axolotles, actually.
They just recently added them to the Vancouver Aquarium.
Yeah, you got to have hiding spots for them.
That's just day one axelotel stuff.
Makes a really bad pick for a photo booth then.
Yeah.
Come on, guys.
This guy goes, tank this show.
These guys are aquarium builders.
Maybe that's why they don't seem to give it damn about the fish
and what is becoming of them after they deliver the tank.
Some of the tanks are just weird and in bad taste, but that's not entirely their fault.
They do what people pay them to do.
I don't watch the show anymore.
I just feel very, very sorry for the fish.
Maybe they can just build their stupid tanks and leave the fish alone or put some plastic
battery operated Japanese fish inside.
So you're saying, sorry, go ahead, Lauren.
Or we're bringing it back full circle.
just have the plants in it.
Yeah, just use it.
Reef it up.
Yeah, have a normal.
We say reef it up.
Reef it up.
They're basically saying, though, that guy's saying, though, that, yeah, you can build your little tanks.
So you seem to have fun doing it, but do we have to put fish in your fish tanks?
Yeah.
I love the idea of plastic battery operated Japanese fish for some reason.
Is that a, I wonder, that must be a thing?
No.
Maybe not.
I know.
I'm trusting this random I.
MDB.
As for being funny, well, no accounting for taste and for what people think is funny.
To me, they're just clueless, especially the bald guy.
He seems to think him himself as the king of the world.
Hey, this sounds like a review of the guys podcast.
Bald guy, believe me, you're not.
Oh, shit.
Lame, bad acting.
Got about 10 minutes of this show and can smell garbage right away.
Oh, hang on.
Take your garbage off.
Then keep watching.
Are you sure not saying?
He goes, it's so fake and contrived.
These people aren't really the most convincing actors.
And I'll just seem so fake.
I love fish a lot.
And this just doesn't seem right.
How is this a show?
I can have my own show at this point.
You should.
But it is a thing.
That is like a real thing about reality TV that's really funny, right?
Is that they like made these reality shows and then they're like, oh, they're not interesting enough.
So we have to like write storylines and have them.
act and then you have these people who are not trained actors they have they're not good at acting
and they're being forced to act in these scenes on television it is you it's just a recipe for like
the worst most unconvincing awful shit you could ever see it's so pro wrestling in the 70s
yeah yeah you know what it all is it's like most people know it's fake yeah but then there are people
yeah and it isn't really for aquarium people
It's like how my mom has watched every episode of inked or whatever the tattoo.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah.
It's for reality TV people who are into it.
But I just, I guess it's just there's too much reality TV.
That's the issue of it is why they, it's all because.
Some of it could be not contrived.
That's what I'm saying.
If you, if you do real reality TV, it can be good and interesting.
You're watching real people interact.
But yeah, as soon as you're like, okay, this fucking lady works at a restaurant,
it's like, what you're going to do in this?
this scene is say this, this and this.
And now she's acting.
And it's just like, it's like worse than regional theater.
You know, it's like just like the worst actors trying to do these scenes and make these funny
interactions.
And it is, it's awful.
Yeah.
And the producers are just going from like industry to industry trying to find like the quirky guy
with the company that you can turn into a TV show.
Yeah.
To see if it's a hit.
Yeah.
Yeah.
This last one's where it's a three out of ten.
He goes a flat minded show for flat minded people.
Hmm.
I'm not heard.
I don't know what did me.
I've never heard it said.
I don't think I've heard that before.
This show neither provides information for Aquarists.
Is that what they're called?
That's the first time I've seen it in a full day of reading this stuff.
Maybe they are, though.
That's like an acclaimed British series that ran for two seasons in the 2010s.
That like killed with that audience and America's just kind of talk about is like an underground cult thing.
Aquarius, nor is that it's in any way sufferable entertainment.
It's just as flat as the plexiglatch and the fish tanks they sell.
When it's on TV, I must zap and fight with disgust for the next five minutes.
They are called an aquarist, I think, an aquarist.
Oh, I got it wrong.
Hey, what do you want me to say?
Yeah, that's a person who cares for and manages aquatic animals and plants.
Either as a dedicated home hobbyist or as a trained professional.
So that's what they're called.
all right i'm going to show you a picture of something this will be the picture for the episode
too and it's very good uh get up here so if you look at the picture for the episode you'll see
it this guy uh what do we think yay or nay to the stand 25 gallon tank and now it's hanging over
it's hanging over the edge yeah it doesn't fit on it and the stand is like a dresser or something
thing that doesn't fit the aquarium.
That's like a target dresser.
That thing is like balsa wood.
And you're about to put 25 gallons
of water on top of it.
24 hours a day.
With an overhang.
With a significant overhang on it.
It's really...
The popcorn, like, rental
apartment wall in the background.
Go for it.
You're not on the hook for the repairs.
And it's right against the wall.
Like, it's touching the wall on the back.
Well, yeah, it has to.
Yeah, it has to be to know otherwise we'll be hanging.
Otherwise, we'll be hanging over too much might fall.
This, is this person get roasted or what?
Yeah, we'll read some posts of people talking about this.
It's such a good one.
That's such a good picture to share on R slash reef tank.
I like to show that.
This guy goes, if you can afford salt water, you can afford a proper stand.
And if you can't afford the stand, forget a reef.
tank.
Mm-hmm.
This guy goes tank on a nightstand and on carpet.
You know what this guy?
There's another picture of it on carpet.
I got a name for this guy.
What?
Mr.
Cheapy Reef Tank.
I mean,
why doesn't he,
why,
I understand that,
that,
like,
thing of like,
I don't want to spend $80 on a stand.
Yeah,
but,
you know what I mean?
But it does feel like a weird hobby to be getting into if you're just like,
hey man i i'm trying to do this on a real budget right i'm trying to like that seems like this isn't
it's not for you then this is like an expensive person's hobby you know just wait a wait wait wait if
if you can't afford it to get a stand or even a thing that it fits on yeah that's the issue
even even even on facebook marketplace just look for another table or something that it fits on yeah
This guy, but this guy goes, tank on a nightstand and on carpet.
And another guy goes, I tried that once.
Found mushrooms growing out on the carpet behind the stand a year later.
Hmm.
I assume that happens a lot.
Yeah.
Yeah.
This guy goes, I don't like the overhand.
Now you got a tank and you got free mushrooms.
That's pretty nice.
Are they the good kind?
Yeah, that's what I'm talking about.
I just did the weed thing.
Are they the good kind?
You're eating a cap.
You're eating a mushroom cap.
No, but I made the noise, too.
Yeah.
I looked so cool when I smoked joints.
You were, yeah.
I never, I wasn't a big joint smoker.
I was a big like a vape or like water pipe before that,
vapes after that.
To be honest, I wasn't a joint smoker either because I couldn't roll them.
Yeah, I know.
I remember you saying that.
Well, we were growing up, we had to have certain people roll the joints.
A certain Don Aaron, perhaps.
No, it was not Don Aaron.
And it's not Don Aaron.
It's Don Bryan.
You just called it.
roll. Aaron could roll a joint. Of course he could. Are you kidding?
Are you probably do a one hander while he's fucking, you know, well, he's,
I was just going to say something really nasty and I decided to pull back. But you could
probably roll a joint one handed while he's doing something else. He couldn't do that.
Is this going to be like a drinking from the fire hose thing in like 10 years? Like Zoomers,
like they didn't grow up knowing how to roll a joint properly. All they know how to do is hit the
vape. Oh, yeah. They say that about, they say that about. They say that about.
about Gen X though too.
Like they they that is an original like young people don't know shit because when I was growing up and I couldn't roll a joint older guys would always like figures and people don't know how to roll a joint.
You know I was rolling I was in the world in like the 90s and the late 90s and guys were like these fucking young people can't even roll a joint.
It's like he can't build a cathedral anymore.
We lost the artisan skill.
I will say rolling a joint is very hard.
That's like a legit skill that I'll give Aaron plenty of credit for knowing how to roll a joint.
It is a legit skill.
It's hard to do.
I don't think it's that hard to do.
I've been trying to do it for fucking my whole life.
I think you needed to maybe learn how to do it properly.
I did all the time.
I tried.
I would just sit around my house with tobacco and roll.
papers and keep trying over and over again through the entire pack of papers couldn't do it it's
so hard to do it might be a thing with your like thumbs or what you know like you have you might
have like big fat thumbs or there might be like an issue where it's beautiful that's a nice thumb
wait a second wait a wait a second why is that wait it's lighting up just kidding it's an old
that's a very old guys reference one of the oldest guys things ever he goes like the guy the guy
the OP goes, I'm thinking about drilling a piece of wood on the back so it sits solid all the way around.
So now this guy.
Smart.
He's just going to.
I think his plan is to create another overhang, right?
Yeah.
Like take a big piece of wood that does fit the thing, drill it into the top.
It's still got an overhang.
The big piece of wood will still have an aquarium on it and it'll have an overhang.
Yeah, I'm not sure what exactly you're fixing with that.
You're not fixing this, by the way.
There's no, unless you said, I'm going to go get a smaller fish tank.
I just had a thought.
Maybe he turns the dresser over.
Like, you know what I mean?
Turns it over sideways and lays it down on there.
I think you'd have to lay it on its front.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
That's what I'm saying.
Three or, this guy goes three or, three quarters or one inch plywood under the
entire tank is the only way I think of doing this and I've done it a few times with up to 55
gallon tanks you can easily paint it or even color it with a black sharpie easily oh yeah
just too much no no no that's actually just plywood painted with a black sharpie I know it
I know it looks fantastic but most weight and forces on the tank's corners you have the corners
unsupported. This guy goes, nay,
that's almost 210 pounds of water
weight on a dresser that likely wasn't
meant for that use. Plus water
deterioration, if it's particle board.
Also not a fan of the overhang
since it will still create stress
concentrations. Would highly recommend
getting or making a solid stand.
Nice tank, though.
Hmm. Well, that guy gets a reply
from somebody who is not having it.
Have you ever stood on top of a dresser?
The tank would be perfectly fine.
I've said, you try it.
go into your dresser right now and stand on top of it.
I'm going to be honest.
I haven't stood on top of a dresser since I was nine.
Yeah, it's been years since I stood on top of a dresser.
You kidding me?
But I definitely used to do it a lot, but it's made a long time.
Back in my college days, yeah.
Back when I was a bit of a wild man, I would be standing on.
I find myself standing on top of a dresser many a weekend nights.
Let me tell you.
I've been the gang over to stand on dressers tonight.
Yeah.
Hey, bring your dresser by.
tonight.
Yeah, everybody brought their dresser.
Everyone would bring their
Gen Z doesn't know what it's like to have all your friends bring their
dresser over and you all stand on your own dresser.
In the living room.
You stand on it talking the one with the highest dresser wins.
Yeah, Don Aaron, obviously, probably had a butter.
He did not.
I don't even think he had a dresser.
Yeah, he probably didn't need one.
Why?
Buying new clothes all the time.
Because he's why out naked?
You know, buying new clothes all the time just to stay up with the trends.
bringing mom bought his clothes
older tanks
he was a child
it's normal
uh this guy goes
that stand is a solid metal frame
should be fine have a large overhang on mine personally
no issues for a year
approaching a seven year old on the street
nice clothes mommy buy those
for you
This guy says
That stand will absolutely hold a tank, no problem.
If you bought a stand for this specific tank,
I guarantee it will be made from some cheap particle board.
That dresser looks like decent wood.
I see no problem.
Now, that's an interesting statement
because that dresser does not look like decent wood.
No.
That looks like the cheapest dress.
It looks like cheap.
cheap
cheap part it does look like particle board
yeah
it's tough to say it maybe
maybe not maybe it is a nice
maybe it's a nice dresser maybe it'll be fine
I would love to hear an update on that guy
I don't think he's coming back
but yeah I don't think he's coming back
to let us know but I would like
to hear how that turned out
yeah because the fact is
I don't think these guys
think about like
I think these guys that
haven't had a tank don't think about
wetness outside of the tank.
I don't think that's like a consideration until you have the tank fool.
You know what I mean?
And because I think they're like, oh, well, the water's in the tank.
It doesn't leak or get out or any of that stuff.
It's all in the tank.
But it's like you have a tank of water anywhere in the world.
And at some point, water's going to get out of it.
And you're not really vigilant about, you know what I mean, making sure the water doesn't
get on it that dresser is going to rot like yeah and and like it's just it's bad for everyone also all
your clothes are in it yeah potentially through getting all your clothes all damp and mold oh yeah it's
oh if there's clothes i didn't even consider him putting clothes in there this so that i didn't but he probably
is the whole hobby feels like yeah something that is meant for super rich people who have people to
look after it and take care of it and stuff i yeah i think that to me anytime i yeah like i
would never consider having this as a hobby for so many different reasons it's like a boat it's when
we did boat guys it's the same thing where it's like nobody you know like nobody they always say
whatever the boat thing is about wallets or whatever uh you know you're you're bust out another thousand is what
the boat thing is.
Yeah.
And I think this hobby probably, any water-based hobby is going to cost so much money.
Yeah, water costs a lot of money.
It's true.
Anytime you involve water, well, I'm hoping forward to a lot of aquarium guys replying,
saying how ignorant I specifically am about aquariums.
And, yeah.
I am wondering, I would love to hear from anyone who is an aquarium guy.
Do we have any aquarium guys who?
listen to guys. I think you can do it cheap and I do understand because I've said this before.
I want a hobby too. I love a hobby. Yeah. I do anything for a hobby. You have hobbies.
What? I have a built a Lego in like six months. Oh shit. I got a half built Lego set or not even a half,
a quarter built Lego set. Fuck. That's also like a hobby discourse is like, do you have a hobby or are you just
buying something? Yeah. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Are you a hobbyist or a collector?
I have always liked the idea and I don't want to do it
But I'll never end up doing it because I'm just lazy or whatever
I do like the idea of a fairly intense hobby like like maybe rebuilding a car
Or something like that sort of thing like I have a huge entry I would love it
I would fucking absolutely love to buy like an old truck and learn how to restore it and restore it myself
Like a long term project you can do for years like a weekend
Yeah.
Yeah.
That's what this could be, right?
Like, because things are going to go wrong and you're going to have to do stuff.
And that's part of the joy of doing it.
It's just really expensive.
And I think that, like, there's a, there's a propensity for people to read our slash reef tanks all day and then decide they want to do it.
And then be like, this is way more than I thought it was.
You know?
Like, I think that probably happens quite often.
With all sorts of hobbies.
Yeah.
They're not the only ones guilty to this by any stretch of imagination.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
It's just one of those, the really expensive ones are the ones that are like, you know,
I always see as dangerous, like where you're like, oh, okay, man.
Yeah, I'll pay, you know, $600 for like an an enemy or whatever they're called.
And then I have to take care of that.
Like, I love the idea of it, but I also am like, I don't want a big tub of water in my house.
Yeah, much lower.
Like the commitment.
is so much more intense than buying a nice coffee maker.
We're getting really into matcha.
Yes, yes, yes.
So that is the show, Lauren.
Would you like to plug anything?
Sure, yeah.
My podcast is batting around.
It's sometimes about baseball podcast.
And where's it at?
Oh, you just put batting around in your phone and it comes up.
I don't.
That's what I do.
Hey, that's what I say every time, too.
Type guys Brian.
Just type guy.
Yeah, you got to type.
Brian, because if you type guys' podcast, it doesn't work.
And also, if you type weird, it's a lot of very difficult to find our podcast.
We're so good at SEO.
Get out of town, man.
You know?
I think we have a website.
I'm not really sure where we are on that.
We don't have one, which is kind of probably we should.
I don't think so.
I don't think we need one.
I don't know.
I mean, who knows?
We don't really know.
We don't, yeah, we're not really sure.
We're trying our best with this.
That's for like the Amy Polar to your podcasts.
They need a website.
Yeah.
Yeah.
We don't do commercials or anything.
Like none of that stuff.
There's no real reason.
We don't understand really how any of this works.
We're doing our best, though.
Thank you for listening.
Yeah, we'll see y'all next week.
Goodbye.
Bye.
