Starting point is 00:00:18 Welcome to guys, a podcast about guys. I am Brian. I will be your snobby host today. And I have with me, Chris, who is a man of the people, of course. Yeah, yeah, we'll eat a frozen food. We were just talking about it before we turn the old mics on. Well, the mics were on, but before we started recording with them that I had a frozen pizza last night. I had myself a frozen pizza.
Starting point is 00:00:40 It was, and I also mentioned what Brian laughed at me about is that I added my own little flare to it. I put some special mozzarella, some pizza mozzarella on top, just so I felt like, yeah, I got something to do with making this a little bit, you know? It's beautiful. And as our guest this week, we have Betsy Sodero. Hi, Betsy. Hello. Thanks for having me.
Starting point is 00:01:02 I'm pumped. I love frozen pizza. Yeah. I don't eat it anymore. I did for a very long time. No, I get it. As Chris said, we get it. We get it.
Starting point is 00:01:13 You're doing well. You're doing well. We get it. Okay. The way I do, it's cheaper. It's cheaper to make your own pizza. Is it really? Is it cheaper?
Starting point is 00:01:23 Oh, let me tell you, the frozen pizza I get, I'll get them fucking three for $10. So you're telling me it's cheaper. But it is like, it costs like $1.25 to make a pizza. Remember Totinos where you could get like $10 for $10? Yeah, that's a lot of college. That was that and like baby carrots. And I was like, I'm doing pretty good. Oh, that's, I got to give you credit for, I got.
Starting point is 00:01:46 got to give you credit for throwing a little bit of health food in there with the baby carrots you know had to get some veggies in the little cubes of pepper were not enough for me like as a at that age I think I would have counted the tomato sauce I would have been calling the tomato sauce we did Totino's party pizza me and my wife did that for a very long I mean we used to be uh two people that had real jobs number one now we're two people that don't have a job uh but we used to be two people that had real jobs and we didn't have time. So yeah, we would, I didn't have time to let pizza proof and stuff like that. I have that time now. No, you're saying that. You're so fancy. We get it. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Pisa proof. Yeah. Totally. I picked up on that right away. What is
Starting point is 00:02:32 pizza. Next. He's going to be telling us what, what's the thing we learned about on the bonus episode, Brian? About the, I don't know. Remember the pizza guy was complaining about it that the, the essence? The essence. The essence. The essence. And then something. I don't know. I don't know. There's another thing and I cannot remember what it was, but it was very funny. Yeah, we know. You're starting to sound like one of those guys, though. I'm not, though. I got to proof the pizza.
Starting point is 00:02:55 You have to proof dough. What does that mean? Yeah, what does that mean? I'm going to explain it. I don't know why I'm explaining this now. Well, actually, I'll tell you, my wife went to her parents' house yesterday and they're talking to her and they're like, you know, we're going to have frozen pizza. She's like, Brian won't eat them anymore.
Starting point is 00:03:13 And they were like, oh, that's too bad. And she was like, I don't care. He makes dough. It's like better. You know what I mean? And she was like he and they were like, do you want my dough recipe? And she was like, no. He's got two dough recipes.
Starting point is 00:03:26 He's got one you can do during the day. He's got another one. It's a cold ferment. Take 72 hours. He does those two things. I want to say that I kind of understand not wanting the dough recipe for Katie from Katie's parents just to clarify Betsy that they do live in a chicken coop and they shit into buckets. so I don't know that I would be taking.
Starting point is 00:03:46 They also gave you homemade medicine one year. What was the homemade medicine? They never tried it. It had scull and crossbones on it as a joke. Literally as a joke they put a skull and said cough medicine and I had a skull and sculling crossbones on it. I was like, well, I don't even want to know what this. I smelled it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:05 Didn't smell good. Of course. They didn't have a good smell. But in fairness, good medicine often doesn't smell good. It's just, it was probably some herbs and shit. they had around the house that they stuck in like yeah so they said they gave that to us one year for christmas i think it's still sitting somewhere in this apartment yeah yeah christmas yeah that's when you get a cough that's when you can get a cold i thought it was like under the tree merry christmas
Starting point is 00:04:31 we made you medicine they did and that's what it was yeah we made you some medicine we made you a thing they made me a weird thing this is so funny they made us a weird thing that's a weird thing that said Quinby's. I'm like they, that's my last name. And they put it, they like stitched something and they made it look like Ohio State University like logo because I,
Starting point is 00:04:57 my daughter's in Ohio State. And I graduated from Ohio State. But this is before my daughter was even in college. Okay. They give it to us. It's got the little Buckeye thing on it. Instead of the Buckeye leaf, they made it a marijuana leaf.
Starting point is 00:05:13 You don't know. They don't even smoke marijuana. I did. Do they smoke marijuana? They do because they get it off of us. Like me and Katie have it around the house. So they don't want to like go to a dispensary and buy the weed. But they're like, hey, when you come over, could you just bring us a little bit of weed?
Starting point is 00:05:30 Oh, so this is when you get when you did smoke weed. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Oh, okay. She still smokes weed. Yeah. Let's take a look at this is, this is some of these pictures, I think I feel.
Starting point is 00:05:44 disgusted by. And the first thing we're going to look at as a Jimmy Dean Maple Grittle cake, which the score inflation for these things is incredible because this is a 10 out of 10. Ooh. And it looks gross. It looks gross. It looks like
Starting point is 00:06:01 something you would get like on a plane or something or they would give you as like, you know, this is their force to give you a meal for breakfast. So that this is yeah, like a prison type situation. And it's like crazy hot on the outside and then ice cold in the middle. Oh, God, I'll tell you. I was like, oh.
Starting point is 00:06:21 I got Shake Shack on a flight. I was the most excited person in the world that were like, we got Shachak on this flight. But they didn't have fries. I found disgust. I was like, fuck you. You found that disgusting? But you know, I don't like a meal without fries.
Starting point is 00:06:34 Betsy, this guy is very up for crust. Oh, yeah. Mr. loves fries. I get fries with that really. Um, he eats his own crust. We get it. I am making my, I bought a fry thing.
Starting point is 00:06:47 I did buy a fry thing so I could take potatoes and. Oh, you cut your own french fries. Oh my God. It's cheaper. It's not fancy though. It's cheaper to just use a potato than it is to buy a bag of frozen French fry. It's always cheaper.
Starting point is 00:07:06 You have to like peel the potato and stuff. You don't though because I don't peel the potato. You leave the. Do you just rinse Yeah, yeah, yeah Cut it up and then dunk it in? Yep. Well, you gotta stick it in a lot
Starting point is 00:07:19 You gotta put it in water for a half hour For a one year and then That's already too much. That's always too much work. He has time though. Brian, Brian likes to do projects and stuff, you know,
Starting point is 00:07:29 like he does let, he used to do Lego and stuff. Like he likes to do little projects and like do things like that. So it makes sense to me that And again, he does have, we have the easiest job in the whole world
Starting point is 00:07:39 that doesn't take up. His, his daughter is out of, of the house now. So he just has all kinds of time to be making pizzas and making French fries. It's funny that you are like, you're kind of like, yeah, I'm going to do it myself. It's like, but you're still having pizza and French rice, you know? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:58 I mean, we make other stuff around here, but yeah, we had lasagna yesterday. That was very good. This first person goes, L.O. I ain't like five of these today. They're so good. Time to eat another one. Hmm. Oh, my God. Yeah, that's a, it doesn't.
Starting point is 00:08:11 And just for the listener, because you didn't see the photo, it does not appear healthy. I bring these to work some days. And literally all my coworkers are down bad for it. Ha ha. The maple smell wafts pretty far. Oh my God. Okay. So it does it has a strong like maple.
Starting point is 00:08:28 I mean, this is like a thing that they have at McDonald's now or whatever, right? Like you can get the, the, the, it's like a McGritle. I love the McGritle. I've never had a McGritle before. I've never had one before. Never had one. But I've, yeah. It's like pancakes and sausage.
Starting point is 00:08:41 Yeah. I don't get the eggs. I hate eggs. Okay. Yeah. They make me sick. Really? To look at it.
Starting point is 00:08:47 I don't even like having them in the house. I had eggs this morning, actually. I had eggs this morning for breakfast. Well, my wife eats eggs because she's a vegetarian. She eats them all the time. I hate it, though. Right. Oh, no.
Starting point is 00:08:56 Has that been all your life of just like eggs are fucking gross? It's weird. Because when I was a little kid, my grandma used to make eggs every Sunday. I'd eat them all the time. Yeah. Now when I see eggs, I'm just like, this is the most disgusting thing in the world. I think it's the smell of them. Did you have, did you, oh, it might.
Starting point is 00:09:15 It's the smell that bothers me. I could see that a little bit. Yeah, I mean, eggs smell, like, especially if they're, like, rotten eggs or whatever. She does hard boiled. Katie does hard boiled. Oh, yeah. And, like, makes an egg salad with them. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:26 Can I tell you so bad? I am 100% with you on that because Ariel would do the same thing in our other, in our old apartment. It was like a small apartment and she would make a bunch of hard boiled eggs. And it would smell intensely like farts in the apartment. Yeah. The bad feeling. This guy goes controversial, so get ready. Uh-oh.
Starting point is 00:09:46 I'd be interested in trying a chocolate chip variation of this. Okay. Putting chocolate with eggs. Chocolate with eggs is so gross sounding to me. Yeah, I don't think I can do that. No. We got a little confrontation here. This guy goes, I like them, but I don't appreciate burp and maple flavoring all day.
Starting point is 00:10:09 And then the guy replies it, it was, why are there always people who, feel they need to tell the world what their burps taste like. I mean, I think that's important when you're reviewing food. To be honest, they should all do it. I think, yeah,
Starting point is 00:10:20 you are not allowed to be weirded by out by what anybody is saying on this frozen food. Yeah. You're not allowed to be like, whoa, now that's fucked up, man. Don't tell us about your burbs.
Starting point is 00:10:34 It's like, you're here and you're ready to comment where it's game on for everybody. Yeah, you know where you. you are, you know where you've come to, just be prepared for all of it. Somebody just suggested chocolate chip with bacon and sausage and eggs. This guy goes, I like the blueberry ones.
Starting point is 00:10:55 Then one time I randomly opened a sand dough and found something, dried up maggot or rat turd, thinking maggot, but eh, have I bought them since? Yeah, it's Jamie Dean, but it didn't feel good. Yeah, hey, that's the name you can trust. Jimmy Dean? So would Jimmy Dean do that again? Would Jimmy Dean do it again? Jimmy Dean.
Starting point is 00:11:15 Yeah, you want to do it again. I can see Jimmy Dean making an honest mistake once. You know what I mean? But the idea of him doing it repeatedly seems crazy to me. One thing about frozen food guys that I've learned is that they do give a few chances. If something gives them diarrhea, they're like, maybe that was just a bad one. And they'll just eat it again. One guy said three strikes and you are out.
Starting point is 00:11:37 That's made it three times. Yeah. I mean, I feel I'll do that. You know, where it's just like, I eat Taco Bell a ton and it's just kind of like, oh, that was just kind of a, my stomach was being weird that day. I'll keep going. You victim blame on it. It's always my stomach. It's never the food. It's me. I'm having a bad day. You know what, Taco Bell, I'm not going to begrudge you. It must be me. Never. Never. This guy, this is a fight. There was actually a fight on the frozen three. subreddit and it was because this this guy gave his meal a zero out of 10 it's fried chicken and mashed potatoes stofer's and it doesn't look good it looks like it looks like it looks like
Starting point is 00:12:20 vomit it looks like it looks like fake vomit you know that you like slap on the floor did it's just like that it looks it looks all congealed there's pieces of corn in it it's all you can see you can see the actual food is in there though you can see the actual food is in there though you can see a piece of chicken kind of submerged in the mess kind of just like come up for air or something like that in the middle of it. But yeah, it does. It looks. It's funny because above it is the pitcher and it does not look like the picture. It doesn't look the same as on the package. If you get the package, you're going to be really let down by what it looks like once you cook it. Holy shit. Holy shit. It's, I just looked at what it is. It's just mashed potatoes. It's fried chicken and mashed potatoes.
Starting point is 00:13:06 So I guess there's supposed to be gravy on it. But the gravy is like a, like a soup like situation so you can't see the mashed potatoes well you can kind of see the mashed potatoes now that you put it bring it up because it's between two pieces of chicken i can see a little river of mashed potatoes i thought that was something floated to the top like a congealed kind of like that's literally what i thought this is this is zero out of ten this guy goes i bought a frozen meal expecting something resembling the crisp neat layers shown on the box packaging instead the final result after cooking was an absolute disaster. I've never come across a frozen dinner. It looks so completely unappetizing. The gravy corn and breading all melted together into a liquid brown mush. The meat quality was
Starting point is 00:13:49 just as disappointing, making me wonder if these were just leftover chicken scraps tossed into a tray. Well, yeah, that's what they were. That's exactly what they were. Of course. Yeah. I mean, you mentioned everything melting. It's like, you kind of did melt everything into a suit. You put it into a microwave. Yeah. It feels like Maybe they'll cover this in the argument, but it's like you are being a little naive if you think that it is. It doesn't look anything like the photo, but it's like you can't expect it to be the same as the photo that you're looking at. It's a dozen dinner, dude. It's going to look gross. They all look gross. Yeah. It's part of it. Yeah. It's almost part of the experience is like seeing how different it is inside the thing than it wasn't.
Starting point is 00:14:34 Yeah. Like it costs, it costs four dollars. You're not going to give. good chicken and mashed potatoes and stuff for that. Yeah. Well, he does tell you, he goes, the visual presentation is honestly insulting to the customer. I'd love to see the CEO of Stouffer sit down and actually try to eat this exact food. That would be kind of bad. Remember like the McDonald's guys? That would be awesome to see.
Starting point is 00:14:55 That would actually be a very cool thing to do is have them all these guys sit down and eat their horrible food. That's suggested a few times. They would be just like, this product is tasty. And it's like, you're not even calling it food like the McDonald's guy. I love this product. And it's like, oh, call it food. You know, it's not. First guy goes, I guess he thinking they'd have the components in separate compartments,
Starting point is 00:15:23 but I have no idea how you would have expected this to be layered. And this other guy goes, because the picture on a box that shows what it should look like, they should take care with the details. That's a very funny thing to say about the stovers, fried chicken and mashed potato. and corn and gravy. They should take care of it. It's so funny. He goes, the picture on the box is even layered.
Starting point is 00:15:45 It's all mixed. It's just less gravy and more potatoes on the box. And here comes the O.P. He comes in. Now he goes, ah, yes. Because things placed on top of other things is called mixing in your universe. It's a vertical stack of potatoes,
Starting point is 00:15:57 corn, chicken, and gravy. If I stack bricks on top of each other, they aren't mixed. They're layered. Thanks for the breakdown, Gordon Ramsey. Oh, shit. I don't even really get that. Why did he call him Gordon Ramsey at the end? Because he thinks that it should have been...
Starting point is 00:16:13 So this is the main guy, right? He wanted it to be layered. So he wanted there to be mashed potatoes on the bottom. And then you drop some gravy on it and some corn. And then you put... So like he had this fantasy of what the meal was going to be. And it wasn't that. Can't you just...
Starting point is 00:16:32 Can't you tell by the shape of the box and how thin it is that that's not even physically possible. Yeah. You can't even do that. It's not like a bowl, you know? It's also once again, like you're cooking something fro, like, it's going to all. Mixed together. And it's in a fucking microwave.
Starting point is 00:16:55 Yeah. It's going to all cook together. It's a good, like, the one guy brought up, like, having it separated is kind of the play there. But I think this is what they're going for is that they're saying, hey, Slop. It's slop. This shit tastes so bad. We don't even want you to...
Starting point is 00:17:09 Yeah, the gravy is the only part of this that has so much salt and shit in it that it tastes okay. So we're just going to mix it all together. And then that's the only way you're going to be able to eat it. So it's obviously done on purpose. Well, the guy comes back to the O.P. And he goes, imagine calling someone miserable because you got confused by basic vocabulary. Have a better day.
Starting point is 00:17:30 This guy goes, girl, I have stage four breast, this woman. Girl, I have stage four breast cancer. and I'm less miserable than you are. Oh, grim refer. Then he replies. He replies to it. I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis and what you're fighting through,
Starting point is 00:17:44 but using your terminal illness to pick a fight and drop personal insults on a Reddit thread, about a $4.19. Stoufers' frozen dinner for Publix is incredibly uncalled for. You can tell. I know, let her do whatever she was, man.
Starting point is 00:17:58 It did feel... Let her go on Reddit and fucking roast your ass. Yeah. And honestly, it's like... He shouldn't have replied. He should have been like I lost the end. Oh my God. I'm so sorry.
Starting point is 00:18:09 That's it. Goodbye. That's it. Yeah, goodbye. I'm really sorry to hear about that. You're right. What happened was he got really upset because he's like started feeling bad and like guilty like he was a dickhead. And then he got mad at her for being like, you shouldn't have done that to me.
Starting point is 00:18:25 You shouldn't have made me feel this way on this subreddit. I don't want to feel these real feelings on here. But like, yeah. And honestly, I mean, I don't know what it would be like to have. stage four. I'm sure it's like you're thinking about it all the time. So you're going to let you know, you're bringing it up and like talking about it. And yeah. So it seems like it's something that you would just go. You just fucking if you're that guy and you're arguing about a meal and then the person goes, you're arguing with someone with stage four terminal breast cancer. Yeah. And then you should just be like,
Starting point is 00:18:57 oh shit. I can't believe I'm arguing with. Sometimes you never know who you're arguing with. Yeah. It's a good lesson to learn. It is a good lesson to learn. You never know who you're arguing with on Reddit. He goes, is that not my... She goes, you started with the personal attacks because you didn't like my use of the word layer. Get a life.
Starting point is 00:19:14 I promise this dinner didn't hurt you. And he goes, is that not my right to point out what the word layered really means? I have a beautiful life. I tasted the chicken. I sleep in a beautiful big bed with my life. With my big, beautiful wife. My wife is...
Starting point is 00:19:34 Oh my God. Telling the cancer person that you have a beautiful life in his argument on Reddit. I mean, this is about a fucking frozen meal. I get, I mean, listen, it's like it does seem,
Starting point is 00:19:47 it's tough to like, again, like you said, if somebody says it for right or wrong. Even if, even if they're like, it doesn't matter. Yeah,
Starting point is 00:19:55 of course. Yeah. And even if it is maybe inappropriate in the context to bring up and like it does seem like, you know, even then it doesn't matter. You just walk away because you have. You're not going to come out looking good in this.
Starting point is 00:20:07 No matter what. No matter what. Because even if then this woman comes out and is like, just kidding, I'm fine. It's like, we still saw how you react to somebody who says they're sick. Yeah, you're done. Yeah. You got to leave. This guy goes, it's a frozen dinner, my friend.
Starting point is 00:20:29 Not sure what fancy layered frozen dinners you usually buy, but this isn't fine dining. and he goes, exactly. It's a cheap frozen dinner, not a Michelin Star menu, but stacking the chicken on top of corn on top of potatoes, it's still a literal definition of layers. You don't need fine dining prices to understand basic geometry. He's really stuck on the layers thing, where he's just like, all I want you guys to do is admit
Starting point is 00:20:53 that I was right about this not being lair. If someone just said that to him, he would be happy, I think. And everybody is telling him, like in the background of this, thing. Everybody is telling them like, this is like the cheapest dinner you can get like you're spent no money on this. And then the other background thing that we won't see much of is everybody's like, I mean, zero out of 10 is is harsh. This is a four to a six out of 10. That was everybody else's opinion was around four or six out of 10. Because like I said, the inflation of grades in this group, I'm going to show you, I'm going to show you guys the most popular thing I found.
Starting point is 00:21:38 And when you see it, you'll be like, this stuff, this stuff to me, we did MRI guys meals ready to eat like military meals from the 1920s and stuff that people will eat. And some of this food looks the same as that. It looks worse. Some of it looks worse. This is the most popular thing I found. Like one where they're like, this is the most beautiful one we've eaten. Well, this guy gives it a seven out of ten,
Starting point is 00:22:02 but everybody else gives it a ten out of ten. They love them. And it's called the great value bacon cheese burgers. See, right then and there, I'm out. It doesn't, like, just for the fact of, like, a cheeseburger is not the type of food that I would, that I would heat up in a microwave and froze. Like, I would never, I want the separate component.
Starting point is 00:22:23 I want to go Brian mode on a, on a hamburger for sure. We have one time got the white. Castle mini birds. Yeah. Microwave. They were pretty awesome. Okay. But I'm with you. I'm usually like a bird.
Starting point is 00:22:38 I'm like there's no fucking way. Like there's no way I want that frozen and then in a microwave. But those white castle ones were pretty awesome. They're different. I think they probably make them the regular way and immediately deep freeze them. This is my problem. But this is my problem with it is that it to me it feels like the meat needs to be heated up so much more than the bun.
Starting point is 00:23:02 Yes. And so they'll get some solutions to that actually. Okay. Okay. Thank God. Maybe I'll, maybe I'll change. I don't think I. Chris, I want to tell you guys, this may be an Ohio thing.
Starting point is 00:23:13 Mm-hmm. But like when I go to the grocery store, I will see a lot of guys filling their cart with like frozen cheeseburgers. Like a lot of frozen cheese burgers. I don't even think we have frozen cheeseburgers where I'm in Vancouver. I'm in, I'm in a whole different country. But maybe I'm wrong and I don't know the, the, the, area to look, but I don't know that I've seen really, like, like I shop very regularly and I go to
Starting point is 00:23:36 the frozen part of it. And I don't think I've ever seen frozen cheese, like fully for like frozen white castle. I'm going to look for them. Well, this is a Walmart. We've gone to Walmart. We have Walmart and I've even gone to Walmart there. And I'm just trying to think like I've obviously frozen hamburger patties, but never the complete hamburger cheese. Well, the first line of this review is really ringing endorsement. I truly think these are decent. I mean, that is kind of all you can hope for with the frozen thing. I'm like, this is pretty, this is pretty much cheeseburger. Yeah, this is close enough to a cheeseburger.
Starting point is 00:24:14 This is not completely disgusting. It does seem like it should get a good rating. Yeah, yeah. Well, this guy goes, I have a funny story about these great value bacon cheeseburgers. I read several reviews when I first saw them in the app. And I landed upon a review by a husband and wife. same house, same box, and same married couple. Husband rated at a three, wife rated it a nine.
Starting point is 00:24:35 And I was like, how can they be scored so vastly different from the same house and box? Well, husband goes on to say, only okay, these really need fresh arugula tomatoes, caramelized shallots, garlic aoli, fresh guacamole and crispy French onions. Then they might be worth the price. And then he goes, I'm thinking, dude, if you want all that, go to a gastro pub for Hope cuisine burger, not great value. wife i didn't have to cook i didn't have to do the dishes i stuck it in my pie hole was full and went to bed content nine out of ten that is so funny i didn't have to make better like i didn't have to fucking make them i didn't have to make fucking caramelized onions for my husband or fresh a raleigh i got to just eat and go to sleep it's so true because the different the two reviews like the guys like
Starting point is 00:25:23 we needed this and this and freshly chopped parsley you know and then you get the idea that he's expecting these seriously well-made meals from her that take a bunch of time. Or even if he makes the meals, then he thinks it's fair to do the deal where it's like, well, you do the dishes. Right. Which is also a pain in the ass. Like if you make the meal and you make a big messy meal, you need to either pitch in to do the dishes. Well, it depends.
Starting point is 00:25:49 It depends on what the thing is. And I don't think we don't do that in this household either. But I think it does depend. If you have that as an agreement and you guys go back and forth. cooking. But you're right. If you're just like, all right, we never do this, but I'm going to make a meal tonight for you and then you do the dishes and you just use so many dishes, then that is kind of a shitty thing to do. This guy goes, I cook up the patty and the bacon in a pan. Then I nuke the bun and cheese in the microwave for a moment. Add a little ketchup and mayo and they're delicious.
Starting point is 00:26:19 Okay. So this guy, I guess it just takes a shorter amount of time still. I was going to say, why not just make regular hamburgers at that point? If you're, if you're, if you're, them up but I guess it still is takes less time to do right this guy rocks he goes no one'll believe me but this thing's used to taste amazing like god tier they heavy focused on flavor rather than quality then one i love the concept though these were way better when they focused on flavor over quality now they're all worried about the quality of the food and not making when these were like when these tasted really good and would make you extremely sick that's when they were in their heyday Then one day they change the recipe
Starting point is 00:26:58 And now it tastes how you'd expect Bring back the old patty batter, please We love these kind of guys They call it the old patty batter That's gross And we deal with these guys quite a bit On our podcast as a guys like The old recipe, the old way
Starting point is 00:27:13 You don't have met You don't know how good stuff used to be You know like nostalgic We did a whole episode Onistagic guys who were all over that What were the Maltow men Brian? Oh those were chocolate guys Those were chocolate guys where they said that there was this, this Malto stuff that they took out or something like that.
Starting point is 00:27:29 The Malto men who were like fighting for the Malto to come back. Maltho Dextrin. I will say, Rees's peanut buttercups have changed. Oh, I think they're right about. I think. Betsy, you might be a Malto man. You might need to look into this because it might be something. Do you want to go like comment and threads all day instead of doing it?
Starting point is 00:27:52 Maybe I have. But we really miss it. You can really taste it. You might not know up in Canada because I feel Canada they have good chocolate everywhere. Our chocolate's better, I think. I think that they say we get like our chocolate for like a UK style chocolate. Maybe someone told me that's nonsense. But we at least believe our chocolate is better.
Starting point is 00:28:14 But yeah, no, I think those guys are right. I think that and I think there's definitely some truth to the fact that like corporations are like, hey, let's cut corners and try to make now that everybody. likes our stuff. Let's like make it a little bit worse for cheaper. So I'm sure that's happened. I do I do want to go back to the the mashed potato and chicken argument because there was a little bit more to that that I didn't get to and I think you guys will really like it. Yes. Guy goes, uh, looks good to me, but I have insanely low standards. And then the OP replies and goes, looks like something I left in a toilet pole. And then the next guy, this is the greatest
Starting point is 00:28:48 guy in the world. Congratulations. You just described gravy and corn. Yeah, that's what gravy and corn. It looks like literal diarrhea of pieces. Wake up. I can't tell if that guy likes gravy and corn. Yeah. Like if he's like, I don't like gravy and corn. It's disgusting.
Starting point is 00:29:06 You know what I mean? But like I love the idea of him being a fan of gravy and corn. And then a guy describes it as being left in a toilet. And he's like, no, that's what it looks like. You just described it. I mean, famously corn doesn't like get broken out, right? So corn will show up in poo or whatever still, right? So I guess if you do have a diarrhea and you ate some corn, I think it might look a little bit like gravy and corn.
Starting point is 00:29:30 He does go, I have actually ate a few of these before. This guy, I love this guy. I've actually ate a few of these before. The picture on the box makes it appear so much better than the reality of what it truly looks like. It's okay, as I've had worse. But there are better frozen dinners out there. My biggest issue with this meal is it tastes hot to me. Like not a temperature hot, but a drowning and pepper hot.
Starting point is 00:29:51 I tend to stick to the lasagna and stuffed peppers by stovers. So this guy found it too spicy, which is fantastic. This guy found chicken and gravy and mashed potatoes too spicy. It's spicy. And you'll see this a lot as we go a lot. Because listen, no frozen meal is going to be spicy. They just don't make them spicy. They don't put anything in them.
Starting point is 00:30:15 Yeah, they're bland. They're known to be bland. They're supposed to be. Yeah. By the very design. I think the people who are eating them the most don't want like, like, they think it's, they go out to eat to restaurants. Like, if they go to a nice restaurant, they're like, that shit's all gross. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:30:35 Yeah. They like this. This is what they're into. They like salty, salty maybe. Like they'll pour salt all over. Sometimes they do. A lot of them talk a lot about salt. Like, I didn't cut this, Chris, but I was on the fish board.
Starting point is 00:30:50 like the band P-H-I-S-H fantasy looking at them talking about their favorite meals and this one guy I can read you the post it's so good I had to bring it up listen to fish Betsy have you ever so I tried really hard to get into them in college because I went to a school where like jam bands were the thing so I tried to get into them string cheese incident yeah of course I I don't even know that we I know those two. String cheese cheese instrument. Oh,
Starting point is 00:31:23 whatever. String cheese instrument. Yeah, I get it. No, string cheese incident was just here. A couple of OAA was just here the other day. They're from here. Yeah, I tried so hard and I could not get in.
Starting point is 00:31:36 It sucks. I think the big issue you probably were up against was that it fucking sucks. It's horrible. It fucking sucks. Yeah, like you probably gave me. it a good job but it's really horrible to listen to it. So many friends were like, here's their May 96 show from whatever. And I was like, okay, let's go. And it was just like, yeah, why don't a song? When somebody, when somebody tells me that there's a good band, it's like, I want to hear a song from them,
Starting point is 00:32:05 but it's like you can't even do that. You have to hear the whole fucking show because they noodle out for 45 minutes while people get a trip out on acid. Up there with a vacuum cleaner, just all kinds of weird shit. I'm just like, I'm a weird guy, man, but I can't do this. And the worst part about it is it's like,
Starting point is 00:32:23 even if you do like the music, didn't you like try to get into it? And you're like, you're dealing with all these sweaty, drug-addicted people who are like just the concerts. We hear, what was the guy? That one guy who,
Starting point is 00:32:35 they're constantly fighting. They hate each other. They hate each other because they're like, the one guy, they get all, they get so fucked up on drugs. They're going to like an eight hour or like a six-hour concert.
Starting point is 00:32:43 And they're like getting all fucked up on drugs And the one guy like pissed himself And was like leaning on it Leading on everyone Yeah so you're like even if fear So these guys paid sphere prices It's got peer's pants Like they're like there's
Starting point is 00:33:00 Of course You are in an air conditioned place Where toilets are available Okay this makes me really mad at These fucking jam banners If you had to heard that episode. I think we did it on a bonus episode where he covered that. We had a name for him too, but he was also, he's like, he's like, just to let you know, I'm like, you know, six foot eight
Starting point is 00:33:21 350 pounds. So he's just this like monster of a man completely getting in everyone's personal space with his kiss all over his pants. Yeah, they finally got him kicked out, but it was hard because you have to go tell somebody. And then that person is like, do I want to fucking try to drag this fucking guy with pee in his pants out of here. He's pissed his pants. And he was so high on drugs that he like had to go to the hospital after. He apologized. Yeah. The post we were reading
Starting point is 00:33:52 was an apology. Was an apology to the people around. I'm really sorry I peed my pants and leaned all over everybody. It's like sweaty body all over people and stuff. Oh my God. Whoa. I get it. It looks like shit. But it's hard for me to believe you expect a frozen
Starting point is 00:34:08 chicken and a pile of mashed potatoes and gravy to be crisp. And he goes, deflection. It's labeled as fried chicken and the packaging displays a neat textured meal. Instead, it turns into an appetizing puddle of brown slop. You can obsess over the word crisp all you want, but it doesn't change the fact that the product is absolute garbage and a total waste of money. It's $4. Way to pick out the word crisp and jump all over it. My point remains. Brian, did you get the fish post, by the way? We got to have you. Yeah, yeah. This is from a fish. He goes, been a long time, since I've seen you, he's talking to a guy who said,
Starting point is 00:34:44 old friend, but he goes, been a long time since I've seen your post. Salt is the best condiment. It's actually really healthy for you. And even in large amounts, despite what people say, always salted butter. That's a guy who loves salt.
Starting point is 00:34:58 Maybe I'm dumb. Is salt a condiment? Is that it is a condiment? I mean, you can get salt. I was just thinking about this yesterday, but a bunch of guys I grew up with, I remember we,
Starting point is 00:35:07 if we go out and get pizza. I mean, kind of, but we'd go on and get pizza. Yeah. pizza and they put salt on the pizza it's disgusting i don't know why they were doing it but guys i grew up with did it all the time yeah people do that and then put salt on the pizza people do that people yeah people do that yeah people do that i know people who did that for sure and even i think when i was younger i would do it like when i was
Starting point is 00:35:27 like a kid you know i might have tried it once but it was never a habit i just always felt like it was so weird this guy goes it's a frozen meal dog not fine dining i feel like using the type to get duped by fast food commercials left with tears streaming down your face wondering why you're Big Mac doesn't look like the ones in the ads. And then finally, this is why I wanted to go back to this. This first guy goes, this your first time? A little funny. And he replies and goes, no.
Starting point is 00:35:53 I've eaten frozen dinners for many years. I grew up in the 1960s and 1970s when a TV dinner was very good. Okay, so this guy's elderly. He's online as an elderly man arguing about this makes a bit more sense now. breast cancer. By the way, elderly man. Oh, it's the same guy.
Starting point is 00:36:13 Yeah, yeah, yeah. So I had to go back to it. And now it makes sense of like, of course the dude who grew up in the 60s and 70s is still like, no, I'm going to keep arguing with this sick woman. He went on with other people. He went on with other people.
Starting point is 00:36:30 There were so many posts in the thread from him. He was just, he's retired. He sounds like that guy's got to learn about a little game called pickleball. You know what I mean? Yeah. I just can't imagine. Like, I try to think of like my grandpa, like arguing on the internet. Oh, I just can't even picture it at all. It is a little bit. I think that like, well, it would be our parents now, right? So I can't picture my dad. Yeah, no, I can't picture it either. It does seem like it'll be our generation. Yeah. That is like, get elderly and we'll be arguing on the internet all the time. And that sort of makes sense to me. But yeah, my dad, he never grew up on the end.
Starting point is 00:37:09 internet, right? So he never was like, he, he didn't do that shit at all. So the idea of him going on there on Reddit, you know, he had stuff he was passionate about, but he would talk to people in real life about it. I feel like, and like when they left, that was the end of it or whatever. But yeah, the idea of him going online and checking to see like how many upvotes he got on his reply on Reddit is very funny. It's frozen food. It's frozen food subreddit that he frequents. Yeah. You know what I mean? He was like, you know, editing and double checking to be like, yeah, this sounds really good.
Starting point is 00:37:46 The only thing I nailed it. And I spelled everything right. Okay, perfect. Let's go. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Definitely. Like doing it in the way it's surprising because he's not signing his boat, you know,
Starting point is 00:37:57 with like his name at the end of it. Like an old person. I mean, also this. He's a very good internet guy for his age. Like he's punching above his weight for his age. You know what I mean? Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:38:09 Yeah. Yeah. He may have been in computers his whole life. You know? Yeah, that's true. He might have had a computer related job or like had to learn social media at some point like 15 years ago or 20 years ago. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:38:22 Yeah, because other elderly guys are like, they're fighting, but they're like on Facebook and it's all politics and stuff like that. It's not this kind of fighting. Yeah, you're right. They do get online and fight on Facebook a lot now that you're mentioning it. And then there is that great. There's that great video that I. talked about on a very recent episode about the two as old CFL football players, Joe Cap,
Starting point is 00:38:46 who was an NFL player as well when they had a big rivalry and they were at some fancy dinner and then they started fist fighting and they're like 75 years old. So I do appreciate an old person fighting, but I prefer to see them doing it with their fists. Thank you very much. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Come on, come on. It just is, it is interesting to see a guy that did not grow up with the internet acting like you know and he did betray his age a few times if you like if you remember the uh the post earlier
Starting point is 00:39:15 oh this is the old guy you know what i mean because it only an old guy the reason he went back at that woman with breast cancer is because he's the old guy yeah that's what that's he was saying you can't use that against me yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah i don't care how dare you be spending your time sick doing this i'm the normal one like you're weird for that it's like I have a beautiful life. Dude, old guy. This is a review from Amazon for Stoufers classic lasagna with meat sauce, which is a classic. This is.
Starting point is 00:39:46 This is. I've seen this in the grocery store. I've never bought it, but I've seen it. We were in college every once in a while. We're like, let's be fancy on Sundays and get a stover lasagna. That was your, they're expensive. It takes so long to cook, too. We thought we were so fancy.
Starting point is 00:40:05 We're like, it takes like three. Three hours to heat up. We're being such adults, dude. Yeah, we got it. We have to plan ahead for this, like the way that mom and dad would for one of their big pot roasts or whatever. Yeah, that's nice, though. It is nice. Again, I do, I'm envious of your college times.
Starting point is 00:40:22 You were thinking a little bit of vegetables. You were like giving yourself a fancy dinner on Sunday nights and stuff. This was one my grandma would do, too. Like, she'd make, like, three of these things. Yeah. on like a holiday that's not like Thanksgiving, you know, Christmas. She'd be like, we're doing lasagna this year. I hate lasagna, by the way.
Starting point is 00:40:40 So that would be a nightmare for me. She grew up. I'm not a not a lasagna fan at all. And my mom and like they would make it sometimes. And it was always sort of my like more hated one of my more hated meals. So it has my grandma. My grandma's huge famous thing about my grandma was, well, there's a few things.
Starting point is 00:40:57 But the big thing was that she grew up with the Stoufers family. Like she knew the Stoufers. I think they lived in the same neighborhood or something. I don't fucking know. She would talk about all the time. She's like, I know the stofers. That's what I'm saying, Betsy. This guy is a very much not in the same world as us.
Starting point is 00:41:13 This guy, Brian. Yeah, we were very fancy. We were very fancy. You know that nice lasagna meal that you would have on a Sunday night? Yeah, Brian knew the family behind that. I didn't know him. I had no idea. I didn't know them.
Starting point is 00:41:31 She knew some of them. Hey, Brian, can you get in touch with the Stoufers and let me know that Betsy enjoyed their lasagna? Let them know that I enjoyed it in college. One of your working class friends actually enjoyed there. I didn't meet them, but she used to be like, yeah, they used to live like right over there. They're from Cleveland. So I think they. It could be just one of those things too.
Starting point is 00:41:54 I'm sure they probably didn't know them. They probably actually were just in the neighborhood, right? They talked. I know they talked because she knew two of them like personally. I think two of them came to a thing or something. If I'm not mistaken, I don't know exactly. Church maybe through church. No, we're not church people.
Starting point is 00:42:08 Okay. I don't come from church people. Neither are the stoffering. Maybe bowling. My grandma was huge into bowling. She bowled on a show called Bowling for dollars. Oh, really? She was also in the military.
Starting point is 00:42:21 Wow. Yeah, my grandma was kind of cool. Yeah, that sounds like she was fucking cool. Is that your dad's your dad's mom? My dad's mom. I was going to say. It's amazing how my dad turned out. Yeah, your dad was.
Starting point is 00:42:30 But your dad is huge into bowling as well. So now that makes sense, right? Okay. Yeah, he saw his mom on TV bowling. He's like, I got to get into that. And he got really good. He got really good. He's like bowed 300s and stuff before.
Starting point is 00:42:43 Yeah. Yeah. Brian stole his thing. I have a ring. I have a ring. Brian stole his 300 ring and claimed it as his own, which is like one of the most dishonest things he's ever done on the podcast. I just got lucky, really.
Starting point is 00:42:58 I was out bowling. I bowed a 300. He doesn't even bowl triple digits. I bowed the 200. I bought the 200. I actually got into bowling for a while after we did bowling guys. And I got my own ball and my own shoes and I would go every day to the bowling alley so I could get to 200 and I did it. Can I tell you when Katie is like she's quitting her job?
Starting point is 00:43:17 She goes, we got to get into a bowling leg or some darts or something like that. And I was like, man, you can do that. Brian. I don't want anything to do with that. Brian's not a fool. Yeah, Brian. But I'm saying, Brian, if you just get over. there and I told we talked about this get out there and bowl a little bit on your own and then just
Starting point is 00:43:34 get a little bit better and then I promise you like I said when I went to the alley I would see people in bowling leagues like the leagues would be playing beside me and I'd be the one guy by myself with my own ball feeling like a real loser but I would see them bowling and a lot of them are really bad like you know what I mean the level of it is not like what you're imagined they're not good bowlers they're just out there to hang out and fucking socialize my dad bolden leagues all the time so it's kind of like he would have bowled in higher he would have bowled in league like there's different levels of leagues for sure i wonder why he never went like i guess you got to bowl almost 300s every time to be pro yeah yeah yeah to 90 or right yeah no that's not true they don't have
Starting point is 00:44:16 that high of it they're like 220 average or two maybe like a 240 average but it's about consistency it's about consistency and then also brian listen i don't want to get into the minutial bowling He didn't quit and come across like too much of a bowling guy. But again, when you're playing on house lanes, the oil patterns make it very easy to bowl higher scores. All right. So, when you get into the league play, the oil patterns are very difficult. So the professional bowlers are doing it on much more difficult oil patterns. So that's the big difference.
Starting point is 00:44:45 Take that, Dad. You couldn't, hey, Dad, I'd like to see you fucking try, loser. Yeah, with those oil patterns. See, I got his ass. You know what he did to me. Brian has a bad relationship with this. Bring him down. I told my dad my workout and he was like, yeah, it's nothing.
Starting point is 00:45:00 And everybody else was like, that's a crazy workout. Why are you doing that? I was like going on the treadmill and I was putting it up to 12 incline and going on like 3.5 for 60 minutes. And it was just an insane workout. And then I'm like talking about dad. He was like, oh yeah, that's pretty easy. I used to do that.
Starting point is 00:45:18 I was like, what the fuck are you talking about? That's easy. That's as high as incline as you can get. Well, for you, it's hard. I get it. but for a guy who with that type of bowling experience, he was also a, he was also a Division I athlete as well.
Starting point is 00:45:31 No, he was not. Somebody was trying to find him. And I was like, I think he played like one game or practiced with Ohio State hockey team. I don't think he was like this great hockey player. And he was a goalie. I think he probably stunk. No disrespect to goalie,
Starting point is 00:45:48 but you have to be in worse. You have to be in worse, not as good as shape to be a goal. Everybody probably booed him when he came out. All right. All right. I think we're getting a little too hard. You know me. I'm a big fan of your dad having never met him before because he has a great admiration for Canadians. So he has a great love of Canadian. He loves Chris. Anyway, Mark says, Mark says possibly the worst lasagna I've ever ate. If you're looking for something to taste more like cardboard than lasagna, then this is the stuff for you. I'm not looking for that. And he goes, the perfect thing to serve when your mother-in-law is visiting. Oh, that's good humor. We all hate.
Starting point is 00:46:27 Okay. Shout out to the mother-in-law hate. The mother-in-laws are so, we hate mother-in-law so much. It's such a weird old. This guy's elderly. Such an old, yeah. This dude's old. It's such a weird, old-timey thing.
Starting point is 00:46:44 It's like guys being into legs. Yeah. You know what I mean? Like, oh, yeah, look at him legs. Like that one. I'm having a lot of trouble these days because guess, Guess what? My damn mother-in-law's got the finest gams you've ever seen.
Starting point is 00:46:57 I'm totally torn here. My mother-in-law, Wendy, she listens. She'll be listening to this. She listens to every episode. She listens to the bonus episode. And she's the Swedish. She comes over and looks after Charlie when we need help with it. We love, I mean, the idea of me just being like, oh, my God,
Starting point is 00:47:16 my freaking mother-in-law is coming over here. It's so funny to have that attitude. That's like a nice. 1940s attitude. Yeah, right? That's like, that's like vaudeville. Yeah,
Starting point is 00:47:29 it is. I think that the stand-up comedians of the 80s and 70s maybe were still hitting it, but it feels like they were doing old material then even. Yes, because they grew up in that time where it was like,
Starting point is 00:47:41 yeah, mother-in-laws are awful, man. Yeah. Yeah, they learned that from their parents and so they like came off doing comedy and to them TV. They learned it from like TV. Like they watched the honeymooners and they're like,
Starting point is 00:47:52 oh, mother-in-law. are the worst. This guy goes awful. They changed the recipe. It's awful. I haven't had this in years. And it changed so much for the worst. Now,
Starting point is 00:48:03 I don't believe this, number one. I think if you haven't had this for years and then you're like, I'm going to go back to the stofer's frozen lasagna. It's going to taste bad just because it was. There's stuff you ate when you were a kid that tasted awesome then. Yes.
Starting point is 00:48:20 You're just not going to eat now. Yeah. Yeah. It's going to be bad. It's going to, yeah, you've, like, you've graduated to, like, better food. And then you go back and you're like, I'm going to eat this horrible food I used to eat when I was forced to. And it's not going to taste as good. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:48:37 Yeah. It goes like, I like better ingredients now. Yeah. It goes, it's super duper salty and tastes like off-brand cheap canned ravioli. Yeah. That's the best description I can come up with. I literally baked. did, plated it and served the family for dinner.
Starting point is 00:48:56 It was like a bad movie scene where everyone was chewing, deathly quiet, trying to pretend everything was okay. This stuff is awful. I ended up throwing all a bit away. We ordered in. Tie instead. This is rough because this guy, this guy, it's like, it's one thing to like have a bad experience eating it.
Starting point is 00:49:14 This guy was humiliated by this. This kind of give you like Mrs. Doubtfire vibes. Like where he was, this was his first meal. I'll cook a lasagna. The kids all think, oh, yeah, I'm really good at this. And then it was bad. And he was just like, he'll never stop thinking about that because it's like that silence, you know, as everybody is like, and he's feeling the embarrassment of like, this was
Starting point is 00:49:41 me. I did this. I ruined everybody's night. It's like when I got my daughter to watch the naked gun and we were like 15 minutes into it when she was really young. she hated it, did not like that movie at all. And I was like, yeah, I guess it doesn't hold up and we just ended up turning at all.
Starting point is 00:50:02 It was so, really. Such a genre that like kids, I feel we grew up with, but kids didn't like, because I showed my language. Like the new one, which my friend is Doug and Dan wrote. And it's awesome. And I kind of had to like explain to. of them like, okay, a lot of stuff is going to happen. A lot of jokes are going to happen.
Starting point is 00:50:28 Like, it's going to be kind of all over the place, but this is a type of comedy. And then I think they kind of got into it. But one niece was just like, I do not understand what is going on. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Like we, we had airplane to like I had seen airplane. So I kind of under, I thought airplane was great.
Starting point is 00:50:49 I'd seen like top secret and all those movies. So I kind of. understood it at that time and then they kind of they stopped making i mean i saw anyone i saw i remember seeing national lampoon's loaded weapon one on opening night yes that's the that's the night i'll never forget that night the reason i'll never forget that night is because me and my friends were like hey man it would look cool if we looked like gang members and we put uh wait what wait what i've never heard this before i've never said this i don't think so i think i think i would remember this if you dressed up like gang and this and to be clear he was in a violence gang
Starting point is 00:51:27 no i wasn't in a real gang and this is interesting when you say that your friends and you decided this because you were in charge of fashion for your gang well first of all it's not a gang secondly yeah i think we all saw colors and we really wait a second wait a second so not like mafiosos no like blood's and christ i think we were I was thinking, like, oh, no. Bloods and Crips. Was Don Aaron there? Yeah. He was.
Starting point is 00:52:00 He is the leader of the game. He wasn't the leader. But anyway, he was there and he was joining in. We all had a red du rag. We had two or three of them. Wait, well? I had two of them because I would put one on my head and like tie it. And then I would fold one up and hang it out of my back pocket.
Starting point is 00:52:18 Okay. And that's like, so you were really. So I was trying to show people I was in a game. You were trying to pretend to actually be in the bloods gay. Maybe. And you went to the movie. You went to a, uh,
Starting point is 00:52:29 we're like, let's go see a movie. A parody. A parody. A parody. So we're like, let's go. We're going to go to the movie.
Starting point is 00:52:37 So I'll go to the mall first. We'll pick up some do rags. Yeah. We went to the mall. They were like two bucks. That night. That's funny. That's really.
Starting point is 00:52:46 Yeah. That night. We thought it would be such a cool idea. I actually tied mine in the front and rolled it up like Tupac. Two Puck. Yeah, yeah, yeah, okay. And then like, yeah, I, so we're at the movies and we're all there. And then I go to the bathroom and there's these two like 20-year-old guys and they're like,
Starting point is 00:53:01 oh, are you guys in a big gang? Big gangsters? And I got so fucking embarrassed, man. I just took it all off and came back and sat down to the theater without my stuff on anymore. So they weren't just so the tone of it wasn't like, oh, you guys are in a gang? Like, it was more that you could tell that they didn't actually think you were in a gang. They were making fun of me. They didn't think I was 14-year-old.
Starting point is 00:53:22 were tough gangsters. Yeah. And to be clear, some 14-year-olds were in street gangs and aren't street gangs, but I think that, yeah, if you saw... I was not into Bloods. They had the Bloods chapter and... Yeah, Brian and Brian, Brian just,
Starting point is 00:53:40 he was like a very thin kid, a very kind of scobey, corn-loving kind of new metal kind of kid, you know? Oh, this before that. Before, okay. Oh, yeah, this is before. hairstyle would you have was it braided in the front hanging down uh i mean it would she yeah i had the bangs and stuff you had the braided bangs at that point yeah yeah yeah yeah that's cool that's a pretty
Starting point is 00:54:03 cool guy man was was porno shan there with yeah everybody was there all of us were there was there everybody was there yeah yeah yeah everybody was there we're all there we all went to the movies yeah and uh we dressed like gang members and we thought it was fucking really cool Seeing like gang members to go watch National LAMPoo. It's so funny. And it feels so 14-year-old. I'm just like, yeah, this could be awesome, dude. There wasn't like a Bloods chapter again in Groveport, Ohio.
Starting point is 00:54:32 There was zero of them. And there was just there being zero correlation between the film you were watching. It wasn't like you're dressing up to go watch a gangster movie or a gang. It was just like. Funny movie. Yeah, it was a silly movie. We're trying to get a laugh. I guess gangsters need to laugh too.
Starting point is 00:54:49 Yeah, they do. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's true. This guy goes classic lasagna, if you say so. The fact that they call this classic lasagna makes me laugh. In my opinion, I love this guy. In my opinion, you need ricotta in order to make a classic lasagna. This doesn't have it.
Starting point is 00:55:06 As one reviewer pointed out, you need a magnifying glass to find it. So it does, it is there? It's there. Okay, but it's not enough. Magnifying glass. Like Italian guy who's like the ricotta, you know, he's talking about a stover's lasagna, but he's just like, this is not, you know, this is not how. The mozrelle.
Starting point is 00:55:26 The mozrelle on here is not like grandma used to make it, you know? They're like, why would you buy this then? Yeah. This one is not the same product that used to be. This is no longer the yummy lasagna, I remember it being. I'm pretty certain they used to have a ground beef type meat. Now it's sort of a chunked meat bologna, which I'm. don't think it any sort of actual meat at all.
Starting point is 00:55:49 A chunked meat baloney sounds horrifying. Yeah. That's awful. The chunked meat bologna doesn't sound very good to you. Chunked meat bologna sounds just. Chunked meat bologna. So they're not using like just a ground meat or maybe he. They are. They are right?
Starting point is 00:56:06 They still are. I mean, they're using bad ground. Like it's not like the best, it's not like Angus ground beef or whatever. You know what I mean? Or anything like that. It's just whatever's left at the place.
Starting point is 00:56:19 You know, whatever didn't, whatever came out of the extruder that day is what you're getting. Yeah. You always see that. Man, I saw that goddamn movie. Everybody saw Food Inc. And like, I'm never eating fast food again. And years went by, years went by. And then finally I was like, I don't mind a little pink slime.
Starting point is 00:56:44 It's totally cool. Yeah. Kind of like the pink slime. What's the difference? I watched a documentary about that documentary supersized me. Oh, yes. Yeah, I saw it. I watched supersized me, and I was like, holy shit, this is like eye opening.
Starting point is 00:57:03 And like, what's this stuff that it's doing to his liver is crazy? And then he just found out that he was just lying about drinking. And he was like a severe alcoholic who was drinking so much alcohol the whole time. And then going to the doctor and they're like, I've seen this from alcohol before, but never from eating McDonald's. And then everyone's like, holy shit, that must be crazy. Never thinking that maybe he's just actually drinking alcohol, which is what was happening. That is wild.
Starting point is 00:57:29 Yeah. Yeah. That documentary changed like the, you know, like I think McDonald's like sued them and stuff. They got rid of supersizing. That's right. They got rid of supersizing over that specifically and stuff. And it turns out it was just this guy who was like drinking all day long. and then going and lying to the doctor about it.
Starting point is 00:57:49 Yeah. Yeah. She goes, which I don't think is any sort of meat at all. When you find yourself avoiding the meat and sauce and only eating the noodles, that tells you to stop eating. Had to throw it away. I would say avoid this product because it is no longer the meal you may remember. So the next one we have here, the next one we have here, and I don't know if you two know about this is the Yellowstone Rustler's favorite honey,
Starting point is 00:58:13 barbecue chicken and mashed potatoes. I do not. This is from the television show Yellowstone. Oh, this is a Yellowstone. This is a Yellowstone-based product. It's a Yellowstone pro meal. I didn't know they did that. Like it's a frozen meal that they eat in the TV show?
Starting point is 00:58:30 I don't think so. It's just this. Oh, it's from the. It's branched out. Now, I mean, Betsy, you work in television. It's a big show. Any of the shows that you've worked on ever. No, I'm afraid not.
Starting point is 00:58:45 We never got some frozen meals out of it. Wait, that's nuts. Yeah. I see them at the store and I'm like, what the fuck? Who's buying? Like, who is like, oh, I really like that TV show. I wish I could get a frozen meal from it. Yeah, I guess like maybe just they're counting on just the name recognition and people
Starting point is 00:59:05 being like so, you know what I mean? Just like seeing the branding and being like, oh, yeah, I know that. I'm not, you know. But yeah, there's always those types of things where you wonder, is there fans. they're like big enough fans of this thing. Yes. That they will eat that. Like aren't they fans of the TV show?
Starting point is 00:59:22 They just want to watch the TV show. Maybe won't wear merchandise so people know that they watch the TV show. But like, you can get a whole lifestyle going now, though. You know, you can live the Yellowstone lifestyle. You watch the show. You watch the spinoff shows. You eat the food. You put the shirt on.
Starting point is 00:59:41 You watch Dutton Ranch. Is that one of the ranch? Dutton Ranch. You watch Marshall. There's a hundred of them. Yeah, yeah. I know Marshalls is one guy. I like know nothing about.
Starting point is 00:59:54 Me neither. I've never seen a second of any of this. The first episode is 90 minutes and I've seen 45 minutes of it. And I was like, you know what? I don't think I can watch the rest of this. Is Kevin Cosner in it? Yeah. He's good.
Starting point is 01:00:08 I like Kevin Costner. I don't hate him. Same birthday as me. Okay. Well, that's true. I guess you got to watch his stuff. I got Kevin Costner. I got Jonathan Davis from corn and I have the guy that wrote Winnie the Pooh. Hey, that's a Canadian guy. Those are my birthday friends. That's good. And Jonathan Davis wouldn't even let me interview him.
Starting point is 01:00:31 Now I'm interested. Birthday buddies. I mean, he's a very big celebrity. He's a huge celebrity. I'm going to look up my birthday. He won't even talk to me for one minute. He hates me. Yellowstone honey, barbecue chicken and mashed frozen meal. Four point three stars on Walmart. This person has a theory about it. They go fake meat, absolutely disgusting. This meat tastes like it's fake or it's 3D printed or something. And I grew up on a ranch. This is the most disgusting TV dinner I never put in my mouth.
Starting point is 01:00:59 Do you really think this is like, oh God, you can't really believe this is going to be ranch quality food? Yeah. And you grew up on a ranch, you know what I mean? I would think if I grew up on a ranch that I wouldn't eat this kind of process type food, Maybe they're like forced to do it, but I would be a little more discerning in like the meats that I ate and stuff. That's what I would think. I'd buy a different one than the Yellowstone.
Starting point is 01:01:24 In my opinion, when they brand it with Yellowstone, it sets off a hundred alarms in my head that's like they're just, this is cynical. You know what I mean? It's going to be worse than a normal one because they're counting on the people buying it because of the name recognition. So they're not even going to make it good. It's not yet. weird thing that like in the world we live that other people aren't thinking that way like nobody like the people are buying this they're not thinking like this is probably fucking crap man i got some good um i got some good celebrity birthdays on my birthday emma stone sally field Ethan hawk
Starting point is 01:02:00 Rebecca romayne maria shriver Glenn fray from the eagles he's a bad i think he's a bad guy he's a bad guy but the rest of them hey those rest of them are squeaky clean i think Emma stone Sally field Ethan Hawk, Rebecca Romaine. Although Rebecca. It's a good one. He's a Hawk run on Joe Rogan, but that's, you know. Rebecca Romaine's husband, Jerry O'Connell, did just sign a letter, a pro-Israel letter. But Rebecca Romaine wasn't on there.
Starting point is 01:02:25 Thank you very much. Dang, dang. Pretty good. Pretty good list of names are. I love Ethan Hawke. I think Ethan Hawke is one of the better actors of our time. I love Ethan Hawkins. He's no Jonathan Davis, but yeah, he's good.
Starting point is 01:02:37 He's good. He's no Jay Devil. I don't know what anyone could make chicken is robbery in time. tough as this was. If you like hard to chew in a hot sauce, then you might like this. I didn't like it at all. So now that's a guy that said this is spicy, which it's barbecue sauce. Maybe he put it in hot sauce. Maybe he put the hot sauce on no. He's saying it. He's a guy. He's a guy that has his and I can tell you how I know. Barbecue sauce is too off for him. That's rough to have that kind of palette. That's such a bummer. That's such a bummer. Well, I can tell you because this guy goes, this next review is
Starting point is 01:03:12 two stars spicy small amount overpriced the chicken breasts are tiny and after cooking according to directions they were tough the sauce is spicy absolutely loaded with pepper i think they're talking about black pepper is what makes it spicy i believe it's black pepper that's what the vibe was with the other one where it was like it's so pepper flavored and it's like oh dear what an awful way to live life i love pepper i love some i love some i love And I know some people can, but it's like, yeah, I love a good spicy food. Just a little bit of spice. Come on.
Starting point is 01:03:48 Yeah, not being able to handle any at all does seem rough. You're missing out on a lot of good stuff. He says, I had to pick out as much as I could just to eat it and still made my mouth burn and my stomach hurt. There aren't hardly any mashed potatoes either. The quantity is severely lacking for the price. We'll not buy again. I can't believe the Dutton's would do that to him.
Starting point is 01:04:07 Yeah, the Dutton's, if you expect more from Kevin Costner as whatever. the Yellowstone after the rodeo chicken and dumplings. Okay, they have a line. Oh, my, this is so crazy that they have a line. Chicken and dumplings as well. Like, this isn't dumplings from the Dutton Ranch. Yeah. It doesn't even seem.
Starting point is 01:04:28 The other one at least seems like, you know, this one seems very weird. He goes, maybe if I was. Oh, God. Okay. He goes, maybe if I was out on a trail starving, but I'd probably put a rabbit on a dick and eat that. Pretty hard. Just grab a rabbit and throw him on a stick and just grab a rabbit and throw him on a stick and
Starting point is 01:04:49 go out of a cat. Rabbits are pretty hard to hunt, I think. You know what I mean? While he's eating a fucking yellowstone frozen dinner. Yeah. So you go on the trail a lot? No way. He just watches yellow.
Starting point is 01:05:06 I haven't seen an ounce of yellow stone, but they probably go on a trail. Oh, you know. on trails. They're doing all kinds of cattle. Yeah, they're on horses all the time riding through fucking game trails. The episode I saw was at the, I only saw the beginning of it, but some horses or some cows were eating on some
Starting point is 01:05:28 land that they didn't own or something like that. So Kevin Costner had to fly in a helicopter and threaten somebody. That reminds me. Because he's like a hardcore gangster type guy. He'll, like, kill people. He'll get people killed and stuff like that. But he does it in cowboy. He's a cowboy.
Starting point is 01:05:42 That's badass. That reminds me that neighbors. What's that neighbor's show? Oh my God. Remember the show where they have that there was those guys who had the cows or whatever. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Remember that guy was like going over threatening them for coming through their fucking
Starting point is 01:05:58 area and coming up on horseback? That's what that reminds me. He goes, I gave my dog a couple of bites. She really liked it. Unfortunately for her, I don't let her eat such garbage. So he took it.
Starting point is 01:06:08 He gave his dog a few bites there. I think he took it away. think he's making a joke i think he's like this is part of a stand-up comedy thing i've i watched kill tony bucket pulls and stuff so i know this kind of stand-up comedy and i think this is what this is where he's like i give it to my dog that's kind of the set up and i'll definitely give it to my mother-in-law yeah that's the cool i don't i do have to say that it isn't interesting if it is a joke to say i gave my dog a couple bites and she really liked it unfortunately for her i don't let her eat such garbage. So the joke is that he gave his dog two bites and then took it away from.
Starting point is 01:06:45 Yeah, but that's the whole thing. He's setting the joke up by saying like, hey, at least my dog liked it. Like it's dog food. But then he's hitting the punchline of saying, of course, I won't even let her eat that kind of crap. The joke isn't over yet. Good. Well, yeah, he's got a whole minute. You get a whole minute on Kill Tony. He's only done like 50 seconds. This is terrible. The last time I shop using my phone, my eyes aren't as good as they were. I fished the box out. What did you think you saw that you were? This is a, this is, we're seeing a lot of elderly posting on this episode, more than usual.
Starting point is 01:07:26 Yeah, it's a lot of elderly guys. It's definitely like that's who's eating frozen dinners now. Which genuinely is very sad about the state of the economy in the United States. I think they like it too. I mean, yes, the economy's bad. but I also think that people that have plenty of money to eat regular food also are just eating frozen meals. Because it reminds them of their childhood and stuff like that of the better times when they, yeah, yeah. And it's easy.
Starting point is 01:07:52 It's easy to make. If you're not like rich enough that you have a chef, you know what I mean? If you're just like regular even rich, then you have to make the food. And if you're older, then it's like, yeah, it's easy. You got to work. Making chicken and dumplings after the road. Yeah. I'll make them sometimes.
Starting point is 01:08:09 Yeah. You will. Brian will. We can't. I'll bet chicken and double. I love chicken and dumplings. Brian will. I have made homemade dumplings and stuff. He's just like, yeah, you, hey, have, yeah, but the thing is you have to bask the, you know, like he's got these words we've never heard of. You got to bask the dumpling. Yeah, you got to roast the chicken first. That's all right. And then you got to take all the bones and put it in a thing for the broth. For the broth. Yeah. I've done the whole thing. I like it. It's a good way to have you made dumplings. Have you made homemade dumplings before? Well, yeah. the American style dumplings that are just like a fucking dough you drop it in it's closer to matza really I see he goes I don't steamed you're not are you're but you're steaming them no that's it's different it's a different thing in America we have chicken and dumplings it's like a southern meal or like an Ohio meal thing I see like that people eat here I make it really good maybe one day when the president changes and something you can fly out here and I'll make you some chicken And buddy, I can't wait to come. I would love to come out there and have you cook me a number of meals.
Starting point is 01:09:11 I'll sit at a big table and you can cook me a number of courses. Yeah, exactly. A breakfast, a lunch, a dinner. And I will sort of like, I will give a grade out of 10 on each of them for you. I'll fly in some good friends and it'll be like a dinner for smug situation. Hey. You're trying to get me. I got you.
Starting point is 01:09:33 You don't get me. I get you. I also had a couple. bites, which is why she got to taste. This is terrible. Last time I said, oh, he goes, he goes, I read the ingredients. It was a while before I got through the chemicals to the food. It's not even hard to make chicken and noodles, but they made it a chemistry experiment. Unless your DeLorean is out of fuel, I'd leave this box of chemicals on the shelf. I don't understand that part, unless you can go back in time, well, I think maybe you could buy chicken and dumplings. I think maybe he's just saying
Starting point is 01:10:01 that you use the chemicals to help your Deloria, like you use it as part to make a flux capacitor or something. I'm not, it is confusing. It is a confusing. That's a very confusing one where it is like, you can't say Dorian. Yeah, I think it's a guy that wanted to say Delorian. Like I think that was the whole thing.
Starting point is 01:10:22 He just watched it. You just saw the movie or whatever. Another thing. Have you ever shown up to a hospital during dinner time? This has that institutional smell. So I gagged halfway through when I lifted the film. I paid over six. dollars so I added a little fresh cheese hoping it would make it more appealing it did not
Starting point is 01:10:42 I made my pizza a lot better last night adding that well not fresh not fresh cheese I guess it was it was pizza mozzarella in a bag so this is a Marie calendar savory Swedish meatballs bowl okay that's the other big one right Marie calendar Stoufers is like the big one I wanted to get a early calendars I wanted to get a Michelinus which is the lowest level but was my wife's like She ate Michelinas for lunch for like years. That's what I used to have. I used to have a, and again, I would doctor it up a little bit. So I would have like the fetichini Alfredo.
Starting point is 01:11:18 It was horrible. She took it to work so she couldn't really like doctor it up either. Yeah, I would just put real chicken in that. You know what I mean? Like I would have, I would actually make chicken and put it into the like Alfredo or whatever or prawns. I would make prawns and in garlic and put it in there. But I, it was, it would always like. It would get ice in there, kind of, so it would get all watery.
Starting point is 01:11:40 And it was, it was really horrible. And yeah, it would be hard because the outside edges of it would get really hot. And the middle part would, like you were mentioning earlier, it would be too cold and you'd have to keep reheating it. It was, but I do definitely remember having those. And the penny as well, the penny alfredo I would have, yeah. She also liked, she did at times, like every time we went grocery shopping, we would get her one Amy's, which is a little more expensive. Yes. And is that the same same one that makes the soups?
Starting point is 01:12:10 Yes. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Because they have they are pretty good. The soups I have like the lentil soup. I've had a couple of like frozen burritos from Amy's and they're pretty good. Amy's frozen burritos are considered. They're really expensive in Canada comparatively like the other ones are like 250 and they're like $7.99 or something. And it's like, these ones are fancier to where I'm like I guess I'm being a little bit fancier than $0.59 cent, Tina's.
Starting point is 01:12:33 Yeah, totally. They are good. I just, I get a little, you know, a little sour cream and some hot sauce and dip them in there.
Starting point is 01:12:41 And those are pretty, I might have, I might have to get some next time because they still go out to the grocery store. I haven't had a frozen burrito in so long. And now I'm like, okay,
Starting point is 01:12:50 I got to and get all the fun topics. Ben and I used to have like a weird thing where we would have dinner and we would make pizza rolls, uh, chicken nuggets, French fries, like all this stuff.
Starting point is 01:13:03 And we put it, we had this. like serving thing that like had like different size plates it would be like one plate and then another plate and then another plate and then sauce stuff and we would put them all on there organized we would sit there and eat it and fucking dipping your fucking pizza rolls and nacho cheese was the best yeah oh yeah I mean listen you know me when I would when I used to drink alcohol um before I went totally straight edge which I am right now shout out to all my straight edge folks out there I know people love when I talk about it. I would I would dip the 7-11 taikitos in the 7-11 nacho cheese. And it was,
Starting point is 01:13:41 that's how I learned in high school. Listen, I'm going to say this and it's going to add credence to whatever you people think about me or whatever. But back when I was in high school, we would get nachos and cheese. And then I would always order nachos and cheese. And Aaron used to order nachos and cheese too. We would get nachos and cheese. And everyone, when it was pizza time, Yeah, he would get pizza, but he would be like, can I get an order of nacho cheese? I'm going to dip my pizza into nacho cheese. And I was like, that's the best idea I've ever heard. So I started doing that.
Starting point is 01:14:10 And then like we just started like really rolling with the nacho cheese thing. It was it was a big deal. So I dip a lot of stuff in nacho cheese. That's very, I just think it's, I just think it's absolutely beautiful. We did it at the same time. I think it's absolutely beautiful that you could take some of the knowledge and wisdom that Don Aaron had and use it in your life. I think that's fantastic. Because Betsy, they didn't have always such a good relationship.
Starting point is 01:14:36 Like Don Aaron would sometimes beat the crap out of him. He put him in the hospital. He wasn't Don Aaron. He was known as Don Aaron. He didn't put me into hospital. Don Aaron, do you have any natural cheese recipes for me? He didn't put me into hospital. That rumor is way out of lot.
Starting point is 01:14:52 What happened in that situation? What happened? I ran into his knee. We were playing. Yes, we were playing American gladiators. I ran into his knee. It wasn't an on purpose. purpose thing. He didn't put me in the hospital. I put me in the hospital. He ran into the knee,
Starting point is 01:15:07 like in the way, like, if you ever watch UFC, when the guy will be kind of like, you know, run into the other guy's knee or whatever. Yeah, yeah, that sort of situation. This guy goes, for those who can't get enough salt, if you love salt, need more salt, then please buy this very, very salty entree. Which, which, what is this? This is the Swedish, uh, this is the Swedish. Need ball. Okay. Yeah, this, now this one's interesting. I think you guys are going to really like this one. This is from Jenny. She says, one star, not authentically Swedish. I live in SoCal and frequented a Marie Callender's restaurant. I never had Swedish meatballs there. Marie Callender's, sorry. They used to have restaurants. They used to have restaurants.
Starting point is 01:15:44 They used to have served. I think there's still a couple. Or they would make fresh food. Yeah, they made fresh food, but this is the food they served. Gotcha. So the restaurants came first. Yeah. And then reviewed Marie Callender's. Yeah. Okay. For sure. And they go, I never had Swedish meatballs there, but I lived in Stockholm, Sweden. And I ate many authentic Swedish meatballs. These frozen ones resemble the real ones, but the taste was not the same. The sauce was close, but it should not be so thick and plentiful. So it's not authentic enough for somebody who lived in Stockholm, Sweden.
Starting point is 01:16:20 And also one of a funny move to be like, I lived in Stockholm, I'm going to go for these frozen Swedish meatballs. where it's like, you'll figure out how to make them on your own or go to IKEA. IKEA's got great ones. IKEA and they aren't even expensive at all, but that is disappointing to hear that Marie Callenders is not doing authentic. This guy I love, he goes, I expect it a lot more from a legacy brand like Marie Cavendres. This is a legacy brand.
Starting point is 01:16:50 There is a real like through line of people who are like, they're, they expect. better quality of it. They seem to like have this misunderstanding about it. I think most people and probably if Brian pulled up most reviews you'd see most people have an understanding of the quality that they're getting into. But these people
Starting point is 01:17:11 were reading, they seem to have this fundamental misunderstanding about how good this is going to be and they expect it to be good which is not ever going to be the case. It is never going to be good. It just has to be, it's very cheap and it has to be good enough that you can eat that's the whole that's all you need well i wanted to i wanted to get this and this is this is probably
Starting point is 01:17:33 the last thing we're going to do but this is gordon ramsi has frozen meals i've been watching some of his stuff i've been watching some of his kitchen nightmares frozen meals are not popular i love him i love kitchen nightmares i do love kitchen nightmares there was one time where he like he was like at this restaurant i'll be honest with he he's a little bit mean sometimes i found but he was at this restaurant and they had these things up on the wall. They were like plates. And then this food was like stuck on his plate. And then he like went and like took the plate down and replaced it with his plate of food that had the food still on it.
Starting point is 01:18:09 He just absolutely laid these people up. But Brian, it does go. You know me. I love the comment. YouTube comments from big fans of things like that. There's so many comments where it's like, what I really love about Gordon is that he's so respectful to those staff. members. He's calling people like donkeys and shit.
Starting point is 01:18:28 No, but that's, but Benzie, that's the owners and the chefs, whereas like he's always so respectful and he's such a man of the people when it comes to dealing with the service staff and like the, you know, the sous chef or the dishwasher and stuff. That's what I really respect about Gordon is that he's not mean to those people. He saves it for like the owner and stuff. Yeah. I love, I love people who are, they're just big fans of a person and they love it. And so they're always like, this guy is a good guy, right?
Starting point is 01:18:59 Like, you know, they're like, I couldn't be a huge fan of a guy who's actually like an evil, horrible, narcissistic dude or whatever. Like, this guy is actually a good guy that I like. I really recommend Hotel Hell as well where Gordon Ramsey goes to hotels. Oh, I've been watching Hotel Hell as well. I've been watching some of those are some really, really good ones as well. he's he was he was throwing stuff up at the ceiling of this place because it had all this like dust up there and he was throwing things up there to knock all the dust down this is a review for the Gordon Ramsey chicken pot pie it has three stars this is another
Starting point is 01:19:38 situation by the way where even though it's Gordon Ramsey this is a red flag for me in the same way that the Dutton Ranch thing or the Yellowstone thing is that like we're putting a name on this that is well known in order to get you to buy it. So I actually believe it will be worse. And the idea that Gordon Ramsey is like, well, he's a Michelin star chef. He would never put his name behind something
Starting point is 01:20:02 that's bad. That is complete if you watch anything that he does. He hosts the show called Hotel Hell. He will do anything for money. Anything. He has this empire of stuff. He is like the exact type of guy who would put his name on something that is absolutely shit. This is one star. I have been
Starting point is 01:20:22 chef ramses frozen meals for a while now have even recommended them to others i bought this shepherd's pie yesterday i microwaved it at work today the whole office smelled horrific oh no the food had an awful rotten smell this is this it's again this is another review where it's like really rough where it's like i didn't just eat bad food i was humiliated by your food this is like this is this made multiple people's days because of your meal. I'm I'm like embarrassed to go into work. Like I feel like
Starting point is 01:20:57 I feel like Brian must have felt after the guy he recommended for a job got jacking off at his workspace. Really? Brian had to come into work the next day. I mean it wasn't anything to me. I wasn't jacking off the porno at work. I was being normal at work.
Starting point is 01:21:17 Brian recommended him direct. for the job. You should hire this guy and then within a few weeks of working there, he was fired for jacking off at work. Oh my God. Did he, um, did he ever say anything to you? Brian was, Brian was friends with him afterwards. I wasn't friends with him even before. He was friends afterwards. He was a boyfriend. He was a boyfriend of a friend of my wife's. Yeah. Oh. So you would see him around afterwards. That's a good question though, Betsy. I don't think we ever maybe we did but like what what did he say to you did you ever ask him we never talked about it at all he mostly did like good fellows stuff like he did a lot of impressions and stuff like
Starting point is 01:21:58 he did yeah like funny like jacking off how like i'm here to jack you you know yeah yeah oh i'm jacking off over here with you jacking to me come on oh that's so wild brian yeah it really is the whole office smelled horrific the food had an awful rotten smell. I tried to taste it. I love that. Yeah. People are running out of the office, holding their nose. And he's just like, let's see if it's maybe there's something wrong with my nose. He goes, I try to taste it. And it tasted just as bad as it smelled straight to the trash. It went and requested a refund. Now, no idea why this particular one went so bad. But it was the worst thing I've tasted possibly ever. Hopefully this was a random fluke because they usually these meals are great.
Starting point is 01:22:52 So he's going to give him another chance. He's going again. He's getting the pot pie again for sure. Well, you've got to know. That's the only way to know, right? You don't know if it was an off one until you get another one and to taste that one. And then if that one's bad as well, then you know, this is a bad product. But yeah, I believe that if it's a restaurant like they just opened and you had a bad experience. It's like, yeah, you can probably go back a little. later after they get their legs under them or whatever, but not with a frozen meal. It's just like if it's bad, it's bad. One strike and you're out with me.
Starting point is 01:23:24 This guy gave the slow roasted beef and a red wine sauce. He goes, when you see this picture, run, run, run. We've been looking for a nice beef product. We figured with Chef Ramsey's name and picture on the box, it had to be awesome. Honey, things aren't going so well between us. I think what would help us out is if we found a nice beef product. We're on the market for a nice beef product. Where it's like you could go to your grocery store and get like one from the deli section.
Starting point is 01:23:53 You know. There's beef. There's beef. You could get. I know it would be more. In Canada. It would be good. Yes, it would be good.
Starting point is 01:24:01 And if you are in the market for a beef product, I would go with beef that is not in a frozen dinner. I would say. But yeah, I've been completely priced out of beef personally. Like genuinely priced out of beef. It is pretty much. there and it is like, it seems like a Joe. You look at the price on like a steak and it's like, it seems like they must be kidding about it.
Starting point is 01:24:22 It's like this is more than it costs to go get a fully cooked steak at a restaurant. Yeah. It's exactly. Because the red wine sauce must have been made from the worst wine in a store. The meat had to be from floor sweepings. Oh my God. This meat is so hard to chew and no flavor. He's way, is he doing it?
Starting point is 01:24:40 He might be doing this review as he's eating it. I think while he's, yeah. Oh. my god like so it's a stream of content and then he goes we figured a beaver must have returned this to the story as being unacceptable all that chef ramsay never tasted this garbage i don't why you come to beavers so it would yeah teeth ah ah you know what he couldn't even chew the beaver couldn't even chew through it it it wasn't well famously have i used to man i just reminded me of the my old beaver friend that i miss you in my old house i used to live at
Starting point is 01:25:14 we lived on the river and there was a beaver there that I'd see sometimes and it was a key I like beaver too. Oh, gosh. Yeah, that's what I'm talking about. I was waiting for that. Yeah. We got to get to the beaver of you. Come on.
Starting point is 01:25:31 He's always, he's always waiting for that. That's his favorite thing to do. But interestingly enough, though, I don't know that he is such a beaver guy. You know, I let me tell you a little story about Brian when he was younger. just because what Brian you don't want me it's not even a big story or anything it's just it I have to it's like a contract thing I have to mention when anything like this comes up that Brian did used to suck on titties for three hours when he was younger and he would
Starting point is 01:25:59 there was Frenching he would go nowhere near the beaver he would stay right away from the beaver he was terrified of it as if it were real yeah that's the nicest response that we've gone to that by the way he's nice about it that's the nicest one to say all Aw, that's kind of, that's kind of sweet. Yeah. Hey. Just hit him a fully grown, fully grown person, just suckling on the food for three hours like an instant.
Starting point is 01:26:25 No, no, no, I'm good, I'm good. Yeah. Yeah, he would, well, again, we've, I've mentioned this genuinely so often that it makes some people so angry how many times I've mentioned it. But he would pretend like he was about to go down. And then he would just come straight back up like that. That's the embarrassing part. So funny.
Starting point is 01:26:45 Yeah, you would come right back up to the other nipple. Like, you'd do the one nipple that he'd come down. Like, here we go, belly button, straight back up to the other one. This is from John, one star, very disappointed in this. Definitely not five-star quality food. I'd love to blindfold chef Ramsey and feed this to him. And here what his comments are about it. The meat was disgusting.
Starting point is 01:27:07 Out of all the ones we tried with his name on it, we liked was the mac and cheese. Save your money and buy something else. And don't think any of these others are good. as they are not. And this guy... That's a good... That's like the idea we had before. Make these people taste their fucking food
Starting point is 01:27:22 that they're serving out to people. That would be good. I would love to watch Gordon Ramsey have to eat this shit. Yeah. Your name is on it, sir. It's actually like if you know those like reckless Ben? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:27:39 That YouTuber who like did the whole... He does these exposés. Somebody like that. Get Gordon Ramsey, trick them into a thing where you like serve him food and it turns out it's his food. And then you're like, this is the idea for at least a 900,000 view video on YouTube. This is a good idea for sure. And finally, this is a one-star review. What happened to this delicious meal?
Starting point is 01:28:05 I've been buying this for months. It was one of my favorite frozen meals. I would buy two. Mix some green peas in and I just loved it. Now it seems like a month ago they changed the meat, which used to be 10. tender brisket to what seems like a tough round steak. I couldn't eat one of the pieces of meat. I checked the latest reviews here and discovered all the latest reviewers agree with me.
Starting point is 01:28:23 No longer tender brisket. And the meat is so hard you can't chew it. I really hope they go back to the original beef. Until then, no way am I purchasing this. Really rotten to pull this on the meals fans. If you're upset, please join me and sending feedback to Walmart. It's the only way they'll get back to the way it used to be. So we've got some politics.
Starting point is 01:28:41 We're going to go to Walmart. Well, hey, power to the people. You know what I mean? Like this type of can't honestly strength and numbers. I appreciate this. Let's get that tender brisket back. Really? They were using tender brisket for it?
Starting point is 01:28:54 No. No. I mean, maybe slightly better meat though, perhaps. I mean, it does kind of, again, because of the price of meat, how much it's gone up, that you would assume that that's hitting those types of things as well. So maybe they would change the quality of the meat and have worse shit in there possibly. Yeah. Yeah, I'm sure.
Starting point is 01:29:13 I mean, I'm sure. sure they changed it but I just don't think it was like such a quality drop you know what I mean like I don't think it was some huge quality drop to to just the worst inedible food like it went from bad to like slightly worse probably yeah I think that's probably but he liked it before he liked it and that's what that does suck you should give another shot when you find a thing that you like that's cheap like that and you actually like it and you're like oh man and then all of a sudden boom it becomes shitty that does it's six bucks though Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
Starting point is 01:29:46 In this economy, it's like, oh, I found a fucking $6 meal that I can actually eat in stomach and it's good and I like it. And now all of a sudden it sucks. Like if they change my frozen pizza or whatever that I'll have sometimes, that would fucking kill me, man. I would be devastated. I'd be dead. What kind of frozen? We'll talk afterwards.
Starting point is 01:30:04 We don't do plugs on here for products, but we'll talk about what type of frozen pizzas. Yeah, yeah. Kind of any frozen pizza on down. we'll let Brian we'll let Brian leave the call first so he doesn't turn his nose up at like he did I gotta go make a pizza dough. I got to go make a pizza dough that I'm going to eat in six days after it. Two or three. Too long.
Starting point is 01:30:31 Yeah, too long. I want pizza now. Well, I can do you want in an hour. I got a one hour. You got a one hour recipe. Like a one hour 90 minute. Yeah, pizza dough depending on how long. Are you going to make, well, you make it square?
Starting point is 01:30:44 like Columbus style or whatever? Yeah, we cut it in squares. A lot of people commented that it's Chicago too. You're wrong about that being Columbus style, but then other people defended you and said, no, they have a unique style in Columbus. They don't know.
Starting point is 01:30:58 It's different. I mean, people that haven't been here don't know. It's a different thing. It really is. No bullshit. I know people always think I'm full of shit. Whatever. I don't give a fuck.
Starting point is 01:31:09 Betsy, do you have anything you'd like to plug? Betsy, yeah. Thanks so much for coming on. Do you have anything you would like to plug? I have two podcasts as well. One is called a funny feeling where me and my friend Marcy, we interview people about scary and paranormal experiences they've had. We did paranormal guys, so we have a little bit of, yeah.
Starting point is 01:31:33 Y'all should come on because that would be really fun. Oh, I would love to. I've had some paranormal experiences too. I do a podcast with a damn alien. Oh, my God. Okay. We'll have you on. we'll have you on
Starting point is 01:31:45 nothing and then another one called We Love Trash with me and Mano Agapion where we talk about all things trashy movies, food I got your back on that Hey the time you need a trashy guy Betsy I got a guest for you
Starting point is 01:32:01 You need a white trash You need a guy that's white trash He's kind of known for those kind of stories Yeah Yeah well thank you so as they said before I've listened to you I mean, you're one of the great podcasters. I've listened to so many things where you made me laugh so much.
Starting point is 01:32:18 And we were so excited to have you on. So thank you so much for coming on. This was so fun. It made me just want to kind of try some of these crappy meals. Don't do it. Don't do it. I'm promising you. These people are too.
Starting point is 01:32:30 I love. But I am curious. Yeah, yeah. There is a curiosity of it. I'm like, well, how about what does it? What does it actually taste like? Yeah. What does that thing actually taste like?
Starting point is 01:32:40 It might be. All right. We'll see you all next week. Goodbye. Bye.
