I missed all the action because I was.
We know how busy your life can be.
What happened?
You missed that?

Should we begin with the Vancouver Whitecaps, bud?
Of course we have to.
Unbelievable performance down in San Diego on Saturday night.
Brian White scored twice in the first half.
And Vancouver beat San Diego FC 3-1 to win the Western Conference.
trophy for the first time, and as I noted on Twitter,
yet another trophy that's eluded
Thomas Mueller throughout his decorated career
now hoisted. The white caps
now head to Florida on Saturday
to take on Leonel Messi and Inter Miami
for the MLS Cup.
So when they write the story
of these white caps
10 years later or 20 years
later, they'll talk about that quarterfinal win
at B.C. Place, and then they'll be like,
and then they went down to San Diego, and then they won
and it'll be a footnote.
It will. It'll be an absolute footnote.
because that game did not have much drama,
which is good for the White Caps,
because they were never really in danger of losing that game,
except, I guess, for the first, what, five or six minutes?
Like, they went up early.
They went up 1-0 in the 8th.
They added a second goal three minutes later.
And while it wasn't exactly smooth sailing from there,
far different way than a 2-0 lead played itself out against San Diego,
obviously than it did against L-A-F-C.
What were the parts of that weren't smooth?
I thought after they went up 2-0
that San Diego pushed and there was about a 20-minute
spell there where San Diego looked like
they were going to claw one back before.
Yeah, that was it.
You know, like I was watching that,
I was like, I'm not worried at all.
And I know that, and I was kind of like,
well, they did go up 2-0 in the L-A-F-C game,
but it just, it felt like
no disrespect to San Diego.
They didn't have a song out there.
You know, I wasn't,
They had a couple good players, obviously,
but I wasn't worried about the white caps blowing that lead.
No, I wasn't even worried about it after Lozano scored to make it 3-1.
Early in the second half, a lot of people around me were like,
uh-oh, and I was like, but there's no sustained pressure here.
It was about as thorough of victory as you can get in a match of that magnitude
against a team that was the number one seat overall in the Western Conference in San Diego
and was playing at home to get punched in the mouth like they did,
and for the white caps to do it so effectively,
I think took all the wind out of their sales,
took all the gas out of their tank,
and now the white caps are going to the MLS Cup final.
Okay, two things.
I think one of the reasons why I wasn't worried
is it was a team from San Diego.
And, I mean, Vancouver doesn't have the greatest record
when it comes to winning championships as a city,
but San Diego is a bigger loser city than we are.
It's a beautiful city.
It sure is.
And Vancouver's a beautiful city.
Maybe there's a correlation there.
Two loser sports cities, though.
So you could tell even in the crowd in San Diego,
there were probably people there.
I was like,
San Diego never wins anything, right?
The other thing I want to mention,
Thomas Mueller subbed off pretty early in that,
and I know the white caps were looking good.
He didn't look right.
So, as you mentioned, he was out of sorts.
He was subbed off early in the second half,
60th minute of the match.
So 15 minutes in the second match,
he was subbed off.
even though he said during the week
that he was fit and healthy and ready to play
he acknowledged in the aftermath that he was managing a leg injury
he actually shouted out the medical staff
saying that they did a great job to get him in for tonight
I did have a couple people point out to me
that when Sons scored the 2-2 goal
in the 90th plus four
in the previous match at BC place
a lot of people noticed that
Mueller was grabbing in his hamstring then
and then he came out like almost immediately
did he who took the who took the
foul on that. It was him, right? No, it was Blackman.
Oh, that was the one that got
him red cardered, right? Okay, but they're, okay.
Mulder was in the wall. Right.
Yeah. And right after
it went in, you can see him grabbing
in his hamstring and then was subbed off shortly
thereafter because they were one extra time. Right.
So there was some thinking that he had
carried a hamstring injury from the
LAFC match into this week. They got him up
to speed. When they realized that they were kind of
done and dusted, they had the match under control,
they got him out. He said
he's very positive and optimistic.
to be in shape and ready for the final in Miami on Saturday.
Okay, and the white caps are going to need them
because they're going up against a Miami team
that we all knew was a good team,
but the last time the white caps faced Miami, they won.
