Starting point is 00:00:00 A list-nuff production. Activate your internet. Cos the Hamish and the Podcast starts in 3... 2... Sorry, still buffering. 1... A hoi to my yet to be track suited friend, home. Hello blank t-shirt man. And ahoi to you Jack.
Starting point is 00:00:32 Ahoi. Still, we are really must be infuriating the corporate track suit world by refusing still to select our preferred threads for the year. Aware the year is getting away on us? But at the moment, we're like the biggest billboard in Times Square, blank. You don't often see that in Times Square. Like, you know, one of those billboards
Starting point is 00:00:53 that's like, you know, your business here, or like, you know, try and unsee this. Call Gary from Outdoor Advertising. You could have all the eyeballs of Times Square on your exciting cutting edge technology Exactly, but it remains look. I think there's more coming in and we'll assess and we'll get it right I'll hoi to ham to Milo from dinner plane Oh hoi boys my low here up at dinner plant at Mount Hossam
Starting point is 00:01:19 I just got back from a 24 kilometer mountain biking trail On one of those you know there's like electric got back from a 24 kilometer mountain biking trail. On one of those, you know, there's like electric mountain bikes. It's a bloody brilliant. Got the hills, no problem. 24Ks. I just relax on my bed in our chalet that we're staying in as I listen to the podcast and eat some yoghurt.
Starting point is 00:01:41 So have a good one and happy birthday Andy. Wow, wait. I really thought he was setting us up for several moments there, trapping us with the do you know about e-bikes? Yes. And they just moved on. Having some yoga. Well, first up, people just submit to what they're up to and my enjoy just that. I mean, it's he's used a lot of my sons.
Starting point is 00:02:02 You see one thing at the moment, you're one creative writing, you know, you use a lot of describing words doing a similar thing at the moment. You won and creative writing, you know, use a lot of describing words, flash out. They're doing a thing at the moment in their story when they're making their stories called Sizzling starts. And I think we had a real Sizzling start there about the E-boss gear. Yeah, yeah. That's what I've said, Sizzling. I'm a rock man, Hulk.
Starting point is 00:02:22 Thank you, Marl. I got to homesteady.com if you want to submit any messages of what you're up to. Give this a sizzling star. Because it's not just for us, of course, for the listeners to like the slow start to a podcast. We'd love a sizzling star. Ham, we love this game and we love people going to HamishDaddy.com.
Starting point is 00:02:40 The game is called, tell us someone we haven't thought of in a while, it's easier to play at the start of a year because we always set the rules of if we haven't thought of them. This year, you win hat. This calendar, sorry, this is an economist. Then we will do finesse to use. If you come on and you go there in the financial sector and you go Warren Buffett, you're well done, but I have thought of him. And it's a chance to build a warehouse. How to send in by random companies. Okay, three hats up for grabs today. We've never given away more than three. I mean, you're
Starting point is 00:03:19 holding up, you've showing me the BP hat, and I'm having a look at it now. Absolutely, Stinker. You would never pick the BP hat. No, it's the way too much You would never pick the BP hat. No, it's way too much. It's a felty type. But do you know the material, my least favorite, my least favorite fastener at the back, which is a Velcro. And also just the brim, make up your mind,
Starting point is 00:03:36 are we sports, are we casual? It's an embroidered logo, which is high quality, but too little too late by the hat designers to try and pull back what's an extremely stuck standard promotional hat. Yeah. Moving it probably gone for a 90s kind of V8 Supercar driving team hat, but without any of the prestige. If you've got the choice though of wearing a 90s V8 Supercar, of course you're choosing
Starting point is 00:04:01 that. It's really, it stinks of a hat that's a last minute thought jammed into a show bag at a university trade show to say come and work with us. And companies great. The hats do not reflect the company. As a way to pay your bills, it's outstanding. As a way to keep son of your face, it's the worst. Hey, Bucket Hat, first time with one of these.
Starting point is 00:04:24 Yeah, love the other kind of Bucket Hat. They're roaring back into popularity. The Bucket Hat, they're having a moment. I'd say they've been having a year or two at the top. I only know that they don't get them on the... You'd want to do it on the first one. Day, I think they are probably on their way out. The only reason I know they're at the top of the Hat game
Starting point is 00:04:40 is three years ago, my wife and I were overseas and I grabbed a fishing hat like a bucket just a kind of a military slouch hat. And that I wanted as my pool hat because I need a pool hat when I'm in pool because I'm a sensitive fellow, especially in the Mediterranean sun. Unfortunately my Italian blood is internal. I know I would and I don't have the all of complexion of your traditional Italian. The Irish comes out of your skin tone. That is unfortunately at surface level. I do feel the Italian deep, deep, deep down in the mitochondria.
Starting point is 00:05:10 It's just not up near the surface. Anyway, had the fissure, had the bucket hat on. And my wife went, no, my wife went, what are you doing? That's the worst hat that's terrible. Fast forward to one year later, we're going to the beach. She's all about bucket hats. Come here. You've always been ahead on, fashion, you've all been ahead.
Starting point is 00:05:26 I have an eye. So the bucket hat be warned, it will leave popularity soon as quickly as I saw it come in. And then finally, I think this is the pick of the bunch. Stunning. Mitches lawn care. We've mentioned it before. I personally own one. I wear it with pride. It's a yellow to bright yellow. It's an attention-seeking yellow. A fluro green embroidered Mitch's lawn care logo on the front. It's a parachuting type material. Which is great if you're wearing a beach just quick dry. Legion air. Legion air's hat. Flat back. Flat back. Flat back. So it starts. Sam's first up before we get into that. Let's get into the open. It's been a while since I've gone. About Steph McIntosh. Sam's first up before we get into that, let's get into the open.
Starting point is 00:06:09 About Steph McIntosh. Good. Talked about last night with Beckable going to Bedham. What was the name of Steph McIntosh's? She was a neighbour's star, and she had the very first reality show ever in Australia. Yeah, she did have a go. It was up with the Ashley Simpson show. Yes.
Starting point is 00:06:33 Then the Simple Life of Paris Hilton, they tried to do it in Australia. She was dating Nick Riewald at the time, the famous Ava Footballer. What was the name of that show? 100% Steph. Steph uncovered behind the steps. Steph, Steph, Veeer, access all Steph. All Steph all now.
Starting point is 00:06:49 No, it's special Steph. Steph. Jack and he guesses. No, I can't remember the show. The Steph show. Ah. So they probably went through all those names and then just settled on the Steph show. So hopefully I Sam joins us now Sam. I hope you I'm a holly boy. I'm a holly boy. I'm the Steph chef show I've never heard of it. Yeah, geez you'd have to be very good I think it was only on for a couple of episodes and the problem with the chef show is if I said do you Steph You wouldn't know you wouldn't immediately think of her Seth McIntosh. Yes, you know, she was someone that needed their first and second name
Starting point is 00:07:23 You and I were on the step show reality show against our knowledge against our knowledge. They filmed her coming into the radio station. No, but remember on the chairlift at Mount Buller. Oh, yeah, that's awesome. We did. Sorry, Sam, I know we'll get to this in a second. Quick anecdote. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:38 We, Annie and I had to do the radio show from Mount Buller one day in Victoria. One weekend of the standard thing was you do show on the Friday. It's keyslips, I've been there, Alps, do show on the Friday and then we would milk it and stay for the weekend and do a bit of skiing. And we saw Steph there on the Saturday morning. So we're sitting on the chairlift, very hung over talking about the escapades of last night. She's like, oh yeah, great, great, great, being very interested. And then did she point out the camera or did we see it? No, when we landed, she goes, that was great guys. Oh, that was awesome.
Starting point is 00:08:10 The cameraman were all sitting there at the end of the, they were filming it from below, they were standing on the slopes, just filming us as we're going by, and she was like, oh, but I've got a marker, because I'm doing the show at the moment. And we went, classic stuff, but we said, no, Pimisio, no, Pimisio no, Pemissione, no Pemissione. We granted no permission, no,
Starting point is 00:08:28 not yet. No, not for broadcast. Sam, tell us when we haven't thought of it in a while. Wait, I'm hoping you haven't thought of Michael Clem in a while. Oh, sorry. Go ahead and continue. Yeah, yeah. The problem is Sam, we, every time Andy by Hamish comes up the fragrance
Starting point is 00:08:46 I immediately think of Michael Clem because he to boost sales of his deep blue I think it is or underwater or out to see with Michael Clem he He wanted to create a friendly rivalry to get a bit of traction happening and We didn't do yeah, we didn't. We just like to do that. But I do think I'm a microclim when I think I am a homie. I'm lucky. Thanks, boys.
Starting point is 00:09:10 Sorry about that. I was also stem cleaning out my cub as in the bathroom found milk, which was his skincare range for around 2000. Still is, I think. That still is. I think it's going strong. All right, okay. Well, I think he's dominating my life and he used my date of two.
Starting point is 00:09:24 August, 2008. Yeah, right. I'm not's dominating. Mine had a new spot out of two. They're August 2008. Yeah, right. I'm not saying that you would be going and buying it. I'm just saying, I think he certainly has a spot in the market. Perhaps not the fragrance market. Sam, bad luck. Ahoi to you, Hugh. Ahoi, boys.
Starting point is 00:09:36 Ahoi, Hugh. Hugh, tell us something we haven't thought of in a while. It was Ashley Simpson. Just my luck. That's it. I've in a while. It was Ashley Simpson. Just my life. That's it. I've read. I've read. And I was at the heart. Jack, Jack might not have thought of it. Jack, were you listening? I did. Actually, since the refueling was fake attention. So unlucky because it was last night in bed where I said to bec,
Starting point is 00:10:05 let's look up the Steph show. We looked up and in the Wikipedia, it said after the success of the Ashley Simpson show and I hadn't thought of a... I'm not sure about that. I'm not sure about that. And now you didn't want to change late there? Cause you knew.
Starting point is 00:10:18 I definitely should have shouldn't I? Well, yeah. Yeah, yeah. But that's okay. You caught the headlights. You just didn't make it. I want... How was this happened to me. I was just hoping they're thinking, what do I do?
Starting point is 00:10:27 What do I do? Yeah, I mean, you've turned up to play for Australia in a test match and you've bought a happy pants. You know, it's not the uniform rather than try and rustle up another pair of pants. You just worn them anyway before they're out on the field. You bad luck. Thank you though.
Starting point is 00:10:43 Oh, how do you Tom? Oh, he fellers. Tom. Tell I'm thinking. That's what I'm thinking. That's what I'm thinking. That's what I'm thinking. That's what I'm thinking. That's what I'm thinking. That's what I'm thinking. That's what I'm thinking. That's what I'm thinking. That's what I'm thinking. That's what I'm thinking.
Starting point is 00:10:52 That's what I'm thinking. That's what I'm thinking. That's what I'm thinking. That's what I'm thinking. That's what I'm thinking. That's what I'm thinking. That's what I'm thinking. That's what I'm thinking.
Starting point is 00:11:00 That's what I'm thinking. That's what I'm thinking. That's what I'm thinking. That's what I'm thinking. which is where Andy's in, no, sort of tied it to. Well, 10 years since Fukushima, which was the terrible tsunami through Japan, and we were talking the other day, this a few weeks back,
Starting point is 00:11:12 and we were talking about what was the biggest, everyone's the biggest task for you in Australia for a while, obviously the bushfires came up, we're like, what's after that? And it went back to the biggest whammy, and we were talking about how they were trapped for a while But did you mention grant web? Isn't he saying brand web? Yeah, I think it's brand. Yeah, that's what's already a bell for me It was grand wasn't it was it Todd yeah, yeah
Starting point is 00:11:39 But you've all over all over I haven't said that well, I can't confirm that I've said the name him I can't confirm but you you would have you would have thought of the board of you. I haven't said the, well, I can't confirm that I've said the name, him. I can't confirm, but... You would have thought of them coming out of the lift. And they loved their food fighters and Dave growl plates. We're thinking of them now, yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:56 I just don't think I can give it. When you say tell us a moment, thought of in a while, I've definitely thought of them. Yeah, but it was a great one. Sorry, Tom. You have one from two there, Tom. Cheers.
Starting point is 00:12:07 Cheers. See you, bud. You was about to protest. I'm a classic, I'm done a classic AM move. Yeah. Well, thanks for you, input. And you've enjoyed being on the show. I haven't.
Starting point is 00:12:17 I want that. Jake, wrap this up today. It's been a tough one because we've been on, but tell us someone we haven't thought of in a while Hey boys Just Jason Lee from my name is oh Very good very good. Yeah, I haven't haven't haven't And well the lead isn't it. Yeah, he was he was and my name was there was a big show I think they did about six seasons. Yeah, they did a lot more seasons than you most people would have thought they did
Starting point is 00:12:41 I think they did about six seasons. Yeah. They did a lot more seasons than you most people would have thought they did. Yeah. Jason Lee, you've got yourself a hat, Jake. Oh, I'm outstanding. Which one would you like to take? Obviously, Mitch's lawn care hat, which hei miss, hei miss, hei, hei, hei, hei, hei, hei, hei, hei, hei, hei, hei, hei, hei, hei, hei, hei, hei, hei, hei, hei, hei, hei,
Starting point is 00:12:56 they are small. They are small, they are small, they are Mitch's lawn, they are small, they are Mitch's lawn, they are small, they are Mitch's lawn, they are, they are, they are Mitch's lawn, they are small, they are, they are Mitch's lawn, they are Mitch's lawn, they are Mitch's lawn, they are small, they are Mitch's lawn, they are Mitch's lawn, they are Mitch's lawn, they are Mitch's lawn, they are Mitch's lawn, they are Mitch's lawn, they are Mitch's lawn, they are Mitch's lawn, they are Mitch's lawn, they are Mitch's lawn, they are Mitch's lawn, they are Mitch's lawn, they are Mitch's lawn, they are Mitch's lawn, they are Mitch's lawn, they
Starting point is 00:13:04 are Mitch's lawn, they are Mitch's lawn, they are Mitch's lawn, they are Mitch's lawn, they are Mitch's lawn, they are Mitch's lawn, they are Mitch's lawn, they are Mitch's lawn, they are are Mitch's lawn, they are Mitch's lawn, they are Mitch's lawn, they are Mitch's lawn, they are Mitch's lawn, they are Mitch's lawn, they are Mitch's lawn, they are Mitch's lawn, they Probably better than Lodge. Hmm. I still can't even try. When you go to do like an activity like, you know, I don't know, rock climbing at school or something, do you go, oh, is there any bigger helmets? Like, you're off a mat guy. I am that guy. Yeah, I'm off that guy, yeah. I mean, go Mitch's long hair if you want, but you will find it.
Starting point is 00:13:18 Avocado, but I... Well, the avocado will fit your head in no one. This avocado bucket hat or the least preferred, but we'd love it off our hands. Yeah, don't waste your time. B pay hat. Now I'll go to the Mitch at the long queue. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:29 You're still doing it. You're still doing it. You've been all warned, but I don't think you'll be disappointed. It's a really great hat. It's a fantastic excitement from you there, Jake. Really? We appreciate the enthusiasm. It was a great time.
Starting point is 00:13:43 Hey, you feeling Jake, change your life? Uh, yeah, pretty much. Yep, certainly, certainly change your head. We're on the day you choose to wear it. We'll get it out to you, but what I'm at, huge effort. The end of the video Hey, I'm just following up on something from last week where I asked the question of, do you have to alert someone that you've had a met with that you've lost and pay them up or is it up to the winner to alert you that they have won and hence you pay?
Starting point is 00:14:18 I think we're pretty unanimous in saying it's the winners responsible person that places the bet. Exactly. We thought that no surprises at all. It transpired that the bed is between you and a mate of ours, Aaron Hylia. Hylia has appeared on the show from top of time in various forms. And the no surprises part comes when we propose this question to Hylia who has one a bed against you but he can't remember what the bed is. You know the bed as you wrote them all down. He says it's a completely different ball game when it's two friends betting. It's not a conglomerate and a customer. It's two equal parties exchanging the bet. And he not surprisingly vehemently thought that it was both parties responsibility to inform the other. We said we'd think about
Starting point is 00:15:01 it. He then texts straight afterwards. You gave him, you said 10 guesses. Yep, so we said 10 guesses. He weighed it 10, I think. Yep, there was a rapid 5-3. You've got 7 left. And then he texted me straight after that, after the show saying, would gamble the lot of my, would gamble the lot on my winning multiple choice theory. So he's saying, I don't want seven guesses. I reckon he's saying, I'll scrap all my seven guesses.
Starting point is 00:15:29 But if you give me multiple choice, I want, I'll just give me a multiple choice. Because it was an AFL bet. Where did we get to last week? Where are we up to in terms of, like, a commonly assumed knowledge? Jack, you had a guess in it. I think my guess was that Essendom would finish higher than Carlton on the latter at the end of the year. And then he said, maybe it was Melbourne higher than Carlton at the end of the year. And then one more and a similar, he started going rapid and he realized his wasting with his guesses.
Starting point is 00:15:55 But it's, so I wrote back to him, you're on for multiple choices. There are time that suits. He wrote back whenever you want. It's not something you can prepare for. Then I'll go on and remember we had him on the show. Bill might remember he was on the show claiming that he could get any multiple choice. Correct. Because he's like, do you remember after being at the 41 day, he made the claim to Christian O'Connell,
Starting point is 00:16:21 Jack's breakfast co-host. He said, what was the claim jacket? He thought he could be Christian in a quiz about British trivia as long as there's multiple trials. He and then the face. He's British, just so we know. He's easily British.
Starting point is 00:16:39 An intelligent and so I found an online quiz. And of course, it was things like the Battle of Hastings and stuff. And then once Hilly, he got a sort of four or five wrong in a row. Didn't he say, well, it's easy for him, pointing at Christian, he just knows the answers. And we were, yeah, that's what a quiz is. Sort of a little testy. So he wrote back, whenever you want, it's not a quiz is. Sort of a little testy. So he wrote back whenever you want, it's not something you can prepare for.
Starting point is 00:17:07 Then in another text, in short, Jack has the music ready. Don't know what music. Make sure Jack has the music ready. Then I said no probs, just because I don't know what he's referring to. Then he wrote back more recently, if I get this, you have to wear a T-shirt of my choice for a week.
Starting point is 00:17:24 Oh, he's a sports craft model. Now, at the end, of course, to that is no, but let's give him a call now, Jacko. And there'll be no negotiation with regards to any of t-shirts. Aaron Hilli is speaking. Aaron, it's Hamish Andy back, mate, and Jack here as well. Hello, boys. We've just informed the listeners that you wanted to risk it all for multiple choice. Well, that's true, but before we get into the series, Jack, have you got the music cute?
Starting point is 00:17:56 Well, I won't be as serious as this. What is it? And it won't be as serious if this were just a one off. You're not welcome back at this stage for anything. Well, what's the music? And what's the music? Oh, the milling egg. You have to have that.
Starting point is 00:18:08 If you're doing any multiple processing egg, I'm sorry. Okay. Yeah. Gotcha. I thought you meant like triumphant music, because you were so confident of winning. Well, I am if we get the music in the background for the model of choice,
Starting point is 00:18:18 that sort of spurs me on a bit. I know. And couple of things, any, any before you go, I'm a little bit upset. Couple of things. Is there anyone else out there? Is there anyone else out there that you owe any debt to? No. Or am I the only one? You are the only one.
Starting point is 00:18:34 So for years, you just sat on this. You knew for years. Oh, great. Okay. Oh, well, well, I mean, setting up his dresser table every day, sitting there patiently waiting for the customer to come in with his ticket.
Starting point is 00:18:47 Yeah, and I put the bottle of grain away, folded away very carefully and put it away every single day, hoping that you'd come around and visit me. Turns it over every six months. Have it ready for this afternoon. Now just before we get the silverware ready for me to collect, are you admitting defeat at all? No. You're not admitting defeats. So you're not wrong. I have I won the bet. Yes or no? You have won the bet. You haven't collected
Starting point is 00:19:11 the bet. Won the bet. Right. Jack, chew that funny flashbacks. I mean, you've never chewed the ball. So if I do think you've had seven day funny photos, which I think they wrapped up in 99. And I know the flashbacks. Kim Jong-un has never admitted defeat. So this is a one-shot band. No, I wonder what Hilly is doing here is a very smart play because let's say he's been thinking about this. No, let's say he's been thinking about his going, I know I've won.
Starting point is 00:19:41 So any bet he thinks of, he can look back at the ladder from 2017 and go, well, that's not the bet. You know what I mean? Like he went, if he went, oh, Hawthorne's meant to finish above Port Adelaide. He'll look back at the ladder and go, well, I can't have been the bet. I wouldn't have won it. Don't get, don't let a look up the ladder now. I thought that's what he was doing. He wouldn't be doing that. No, I'm not sure. That's all stuff. Okay. wouldn't be doing that. No, I'm not interested. No, I'm not interested in that sort of stuff. Okay. Thanks. Okay, so how are we going to do this? I've got four multiple choice. That's fair. He was saying he was going to go five. I wanted as much as seven, but these
Starting point is 00:20:17 guys have went on down and you're comfortable with four. Oh, I'm fine with that. We have dunkers of the phone. the friend if I need it. No, I mean, sorry, again, to recap, the free cap to the negotiations can go on for a while. I'm like, to recap Andy gave a very generous clue, I thought, to say that Dunk was another one of our friends was present when the bet was made. And given you had a whole week, I thought you might ring Dunk. In your own time, knowing that you could have done that said said no you've forfeited the right to do that Did you jack a good jack a Okay
Starting point is 00:21:01 Aaron for the bottle of grains that I do owe you Okay, Aaron, for the bottle of grains that I do owe you. And another homeless in Antiquan? No, there's no cow in this house. I don't remember that bit on millionaire. Or any madagog goes for $32,000 and free car parking. No, we didn't say that. I think they get free car parking and a drink anyway. Okay.
Starting point is 00:21:25 Okay, Aaron. Look, we could throw in a bargain and a drink. Anyone? Okay. Okay. Aaron. Look, we could throw in a bag of Doritos. And the coin. I won the coin. No, you've already got a coin. You won one, not doing this humiliated type thing, actually, from... It's actually going to be my dual-millionaire thing. I'll get the coin.
Starting point is 00:21:38 What about a token of no value? I think, Mike Sanders. Episode 30 of this podcast. We've already done this with Hilly. I can't remember it. What about a token of no value? I think Mike Stangress, episode 30 of this podcast, we've already done this with Ily, I can't remember it. What about we give you a token of no value? I can't believe this. Anyway, I mean, let me go, shall I? Shall we?
Starting point is 00:21:54 Put the music back on, Jack. All right, here we go. Was the bet A, Doggy's finish higher than the Crows after the Finals campaign? B, Carlton to finish higher than the Crows after the finals campaign. B, Carlton to finish higher than the crows after the finals campaign. C, Carlton to win the flag before the Tigers do again. Or D, Adelaide will not make the eight.
Starting point is 00:22:18 Talk us through your thoughts. I have no idea now. I mean, you've thronged me off with dunk. I mean, what's he got to do with this? Dunk's not even... Well, you're the one bringing Dunk into it. He's got nothing to do with it. You've cleared it, Martin.
Starting point is 00:22:31 My mourn here with Dunk. Shame on you. Shame on you. Why, man? Sorry, sorry, man. So, do you want to hear him again? Hear him again? Oh, I'm going after him.
Starting point is 00:22:43 Dog used to finish hiding the crows. Carlton to finish hiding the crows. Carlton will win a flag before the Tigers next to Adelaide will not make the eight. May 5th, 2017. And you should this to me or I should it to you? I should it to you. Take out the sea. Okay.
Starting point is 00:23:04 He's removed. Karl will flip. What's your thinking for that tactic? What's your thinking for that tactic? I don't think he's that stupid. Now, but this is where your natural multiple choice skill should come in regardless of what the actual bet is. Now your raw talent. That's usually true, Hammer, but right now
Starting point is 00:23:28 we've got three with the same team or two the same team. It's really throwing me out. They will often do this Adelaide feature in Ordon, but you barrack for Adelaide. So that's probably why they did. Tony, my drone link, but let's Let's go D
Starting point is 00:23:47 Adelaide will not only eight is Unfortunately not correct the bet was doggy's finishing higher than the crows My clue to you is dunk barracks for the dogs and I thought that you take that that's why dunk was there I'm just really upset with myself right now fellas here enough. I can't know why Dunk was there. I'm just really upset with myself right now, if I was here. I can't stand it. I can't believe it. I can't believe it. Yeah, you've taken it hard. I mean, there is a term for people like you
Starting point is 00:24:13 have Googled at Welchers. They don't pay bets. And now I'm lost and I don't have a bottle of water. Yeah, well, you didn't know about it. Well, you didn't know that. You didn't even know about it. And I'm not a welcher because we negotiated new terms, you agreed to them and you've since lost.
Starting point is 00:24:33 So commiserations. Can you just give me a bottle or something? I mean, just, yeah. Yeah, possibly something. Yeah, something. Yeah, a bottle of mouthwash. Diet, Diet Villalacaracus. Still got it around?
Starting point is 00:24:44 I'm going to believe this. Yeah, something. Yeah, a bottle of mouthwash. Don't, don't feel like I can give this to a guy that around. I'm a bit of a linguist. See you, age, very much. Wonderful, wonderful. Great bar, guys. Jeez. Hey, quick one here. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:02 When you hear the saying, it's all downhill from there. Good thing or bad thing. Oh, it's usually a good thing. Really? Oh, is it a bad thing? I thought bad. You mean you thought bad. No, if you're on a bike, it's good. I just just say so. If you're bike riding. If you're looking at a stock market, bad. Yeah, but that's not a kill, is it? It's all, I mean, it's all downwards, if it's all downwards from there, all downhill, and then it was, like, I think people have said it, and then it was just all downhill from there. In despair, I've heard it said.
Starting point is 00:25:35 Yeah, you do say in despair, like, you know, then, you know, you know, then mum, mum started on the cake and it was all downhill from there. I ate it with my teeth. I'm started on the cake and it was all about him from there. I ate it with my teeth. Well, you know, we thought she was drinking a bit much. She started on the cake and it was all down here. Even when she backed into it, she knew what she was doing. She was doing. We should have stopped it, but we were probably just in shock.
Starting point is 00:25:58 It was all down here from there. But, but if you're, but if you're explaining, do you know what? Retrospectively, it's bad. People go, you know, that happened and it was all down here from there. But if it's something in the future, I think it's good where you go, listen, just do this, this and then if you do, if you do, if you get that all done by midday, it's just downhill from there, easy. So it's a both.
Starting point is 00:26:20 I agree. Because I've heard people say that it's a true. I think it's future and past tense, it can change its vibe. Yeah. So if you stop, hey, if you stop mum drinking, keep her away from the cake. Yeah, it should be all downhill from there. It should be easy. It should be easy.
Starting point is 00:26:31 Jack, you seem to be unsure. I felt my gut instinct is it's bad, but then I'm trying to think of the inverse of it. So if it's all downhill from here is bad, mum's father, okay, things are only getting worse. Then the inverse should be, well, it's all uphill from here, but that doesn't make sense. But often, often, inverses of sayings don't necessarily make sense. You know, um, yeah, I can push in the hand, is not worth two pushes on a bird. That's not an exact opposite.
Starting point is 00:27:04 Yeah, it's confusing though, isn't it? So we put it down as a both. I actually think outside of bike riding, outside of bike riding, it is probably bad. Right. Like I'll, you know, often if you're going for like a long bike ride with someone, you're describing the terrain for the day, you might be looking at where you're going. You're like, yeah, looking at a couple of climbs in the morning, but then,
Starting point is 00:27:23 it is pretty much downhill after lunch. Yeah. That's a good thing, but it's, it's pretty specific. Okay. It's like riding. As I continue my lifestyle vision to categorize all phrases, I'll put it this way. All phrases and sayings. This one at that. Is it tough? I was the other one that we had that was, people thought was good or bad. What was that? Was this, was this, was this good or bad? To the line. To the line. We didn't know if that was good or bad. People people that's right. It was like, Hey, come on. To the line.
Starting point is 00:27:48 Do the right thing. Yeah. But it actually turns out to technically mean pushing the limits. Like it's you're telling the line. No, I think it was to the right. I mean, no, no, it was put your foot to put your toe to the edge of the line in boxing. That's where
Starting point is 00:28:01 it came from. So it was like, it's to the right thing. It's it's to the right thing, but it's but it came from. So it was like, It's to the right thing. It's, it's to the right thing, but it's, but it's used in the context of you're right at the limit. Because if you, if you've stepped you foot over, you're too closely the other guy when you start boxing.
Starting point is 00:28:13 So we thought it was T-O-W. As in, like, can you pull your way? Yeah, toe the line because at the other end of the line is all your chores in a trail line. And so you've got to toe them along. Yes. But it's not toe to tow them along. Yes. But it's not tow them along. No.
Starting point is 00:28:26 So, towing the line means go right up to the edge, but no further. And I couldn't put that in good or bad. Just put that in indifferent as I can. And rather than interesting. OK. OK. I'm an ongoing investigation for us is as to whether Pino, who we do, Pino is Pete
Starting point is 00:28:50 Salotto with, it's actually called Pete. It's like Virgil's catchphrase. Well, that's when he's working towards, isn't he? Pete Salotto, the game that we've been loving for about a year now. It is, we only call one pizza shop, it's in Sydney, Zio Pino's. And we adore it. Pino answers, we all know the situation because 99% of listeners are listening to this chronologically, so you know the history. The accusation. We guess the pizza coming out. The accusation was an authenticity out. Back to it wasn't. Yeah, an authenticity audit was called because we had some audio come to light that Pino perhaps didn't have the usual the thickest, thick and Italian accent
Starting point is 00:29:35 that we know and love him for when he answered the phone, we then identified ourselves, the accent was back. That was the claim. Here it is here. Hello, it's Pino. Oh, Pino. How are you, sir? Hey, hey, Gunn. All right. It's Amish and Andy. Hey, how are you? You're good. It is. It's traveling every time you see it. Yeah, we're going, you know, was he distracted? Yeah. Was he just excited to be back on the show? You know, what we heard there was, it wasn't enough to just be cut and dry of an instead of,
Starting point is 00:30:07 uh-huh, he is masquerading, he's putting the accent on to help move more pizzas. Hey, so his Italian-ness was being called, I suppose, into question, certainly the authenticity of his accent. It was a de-reflect, the appropriate level of Italian-o. Now, as an Italian man, I crossed. Yes, I did have a busy schedule this week and it required, because I living in Sydney out required a travel out to near the airport. Yeah, probably after now. Oh, not that long here.
Starting point is 00:30:36 But time out of my day, you've been living a lot of things around. I had to put a blonde wig on. Yes. That was the key part of it. And then you're going to go in, you're going to observe him, you're going to observe him, then come out and say whether you thought he was putting on the accent, then you're going to
Starting point is 00:30:48 go in and order in a very, yeah, ochre, why? Yeah. ochre Australian to see whether he's still willing to tell you know whether he matched the people he was speaking to. Now, really good. Really good. I know there was some concern that you wouldn't be able to, that I would either not be able to juggle my schedule or that I would got to be forget. And I'm pleased to report no way not on this guy's watch. I obviously went there. And I am pleased to present. What does it feel? It's a good classic pizza right here. It's certainly very much what you'd expect. Was it a busy time? No, I went kind of quite early on in the lunch rush one day, driving out there to do what day of the week of Monday.
Starting point is 00:31:38 Oh, you did the day of the week. It checks out, Google it. You never start. Yeah. So I was pleased, obviously, that I put in the effort. And then once I got the, as you're ready here, once I got the recording, I thought this is good. It's not just, it's not just sort of scratchy audio. I actually made it up into a side project,
Starting point is 00:31:59 into a sub podcast. Wow. Like, I guess inspired by a bit of trick crime. Yeah. I've been talking to the the folk listener who are the production house that make our podcast. Yeah. And they've lived their time, did they? Well, I've got the app. I've sent it all out. Yeah. Okay. Because I went. Yeah, definitely worked.
Starting point is 00:32:19 Welcome to Italian No or Yes on a need to Pino Basis, a podcast exclusive to the listener out. A listener exclusive. As a 1-8th Italian man and an investigative journalist, I face a serious conundrum here, potentially uncovering one of the greatest frauds of the modern era versus vindicating what of my countrymen. But my week was in place. I arrived at the shop. Well there it is, there's the Rilsio Penas.
Starting point is 00:32:57 This is sitting here for a bit more. Looking at it, looking at the real shop and waiting. Waiting. There was to be no more waiting. It was now or never. The future of pizza lotto was on the line here. But before I could get there, a young girl eating pizza stopped me on the street. I wouldn't normally have stopped for such a banal thing, but she was floating slightly off the ground, and her eyes didn't have pupils or irises or anything. They just glowed bright white. How weird. I had no idea what that was about and I didn't have time to think. By now, I was at the door of Zio Pino's. Checked my mic.
Starting point is 00:33:35 Mic check, mic check, one, two, mic check. I checked my wig. Weak check, weak check, one, two, one, one, one, two, wig check. I entered. Within seconds, I saw Pino. There was no mistaking him. From afar, he seemed every bit the jovial Italian man would always known. As I approached, he kept up the facade.
Starting point is 00:33:57 Ah, how are you? What the hell is your pit, so can I get you? The voice was there. The look was there. But something flickered in his eyes. For a second I worried if I'd been made in a single bead of sweat trickled from under my blonde wig and down my back, but it was more than that. The worry wasn't on my side.
Starting point is 00:34:15 It was him. He was worried. I suddenly remembered that strange floating girl from outside's words. I decided to try something. Something to lure the real fake pinot out from behind the outer shell of the fake real pinot. If he was to drop the act, I needed to make him feel safe to use his real voice. Hey mate, you are in a lot of bloody pretend with me. I'm friends with Mac or in Lefty. Oh yeah, sweet mate. Can I thought I recognized it? You want to meet Disk?
Starting point is 00:34:53 I had him. The dropping of the accent. The use of the Australian slang term for pizza. You dream of moments like this as an investigator, but at the same time I got no joy from uncovering the fraud of the century, and some of my innocence died. I still, however, ordered my pizza.
Starting point is 00:35:11 Yeah, just say a medium-meat disc, thanks. No meat and maybe some cheese on it, but also that tomato-tart stuff on top. Oh, a lot of the tomato soups, are you? Yeah, like thick tomato soup that you smear on the top of the meat disc. Oh, yeah. Check it in our box or a raw as a dead dingh as Donga. Um, check it in the hot box please, not raw. Gee, he really was an Italian at all.
Starting point is 00:35:31 He had no idea about pizzas. I returned to the studio knowing full well that what I'd witnessed had really happened and definitely happened and I recorded it all accurately. And it was a reward for making so much time available in my schedule to do things for the show. But also at the same time very open to maybe repeating the mission this week again in exactly the same way to give Pino a second chance and should he prove himself there forgetting this all happened. There we have it. He didn't go. Bom shell over, bomb shells. Yet at the same time, certainly able to go again if we want to retest.
Starting point is 00:36:09 When you did your wig check, it was 1, 2. Were you wearing two wig? No. We were testing a lot. Testing a different, two lengths. Two legs, 1, 2. Yeah, go with the one. I was like looking in the mirror of the shop,
Starting point is 00:36:19 and then I cut. Do I just wanted to do a shorter wig? Do I have to get on the plane to come up and... No, no, no, I've got time. I'll find time again. I'll find time again. You can't be up, so I'm gonna free up my schedule. No, but just maybe we'll get it done.
Starting point is 00:36:33 I'll get it done, mate. I'll get it done. I'll go again. If the audio wasn't good, I thought that kind of had everything though. I don't know what more you could hope for from a visit yet a floating girl who turned out to be a bit of an omen, I guess, in the end. Yep. And it's's possible slander. Well, that's why I'm saying I'll go again. That's that's why I'm saying I was
Starting point is 00:36:54 as shocked as you guys are here, you know, to hear him just drop the drop the accent. Yeah. But maybe I heard it wrong. Maybe we recorded it wrong. Maybe I go and try again. Yeah, do you want more than a week? You're gonna guarantee next week or do you like more time? No, schedule as we speak. Yeah, can bump that.
Starting point is 00:37:16 Looking at my screen, say that. There's not much information there. Yeah, no, I'll go again. What's your name? What's your name? What's your name? What's your name? Hey, um, couple of good special skills have come in both interstaters. We probably only have room in the budget for one. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:37:35 And so I thought we'd get in both and then they will go. I know. Usually, at this time of the year, I have gone up to the barrel that holds the budget and whacked it with a pick a few times just to get the old juices flowing. And I don't feel like I've assaulted the budget enough. You have a career. Yeah, that's true. Not my hunger is growing.
Starting point is 00:37:54 That's not a challenge. I mean, I'd like to present you in alphabetical order, Harry. And therefore, no, there won't be an Adam. Yeah, that's true. Harry, he therefore know there won't be an atom. That's true. Harry, I already know Graham. Okay, Harry, hello. Hi boys. Hey Harry. Would you mind letting Hamish in on what your special skill is it filled on my side of the Hamish only dot com email fence? Yeah, so through taste and texture alone, I can determine any brand of meat pie, any major brand. Includes supermarket brands?
Starting point is 00:38:36 Yeah, basically anything you can get at a supermarket. I've sort of written a list of acceptable brands. Yeah. Four and 20, Sgt. Mrs. Max, Villiers, Herbert Adams, and Woolies or Coles home brand. It's almost as long as the number pie. It's a good list. And we've had this video now. No, we've, although Waylander, because we've had this before with Dim Sense,. Yep. And remember, we had, there was a kerfuffle with the Dim Simms, the Dimmies. We all felt like Dim Simms after, we all went straight out and had Dim Simms there too.
Starting point is 00:39:12 So we are easily swiable. But wasn't, do we ever get an answer to that? Yes. Because we thought the Dim Simms came from a central location. They didn't, and there was Dim Simms in Adelaide that actually had come from a diff like the cold brand was it. The supermarket chain dim sim came from a different factory. Titching, yeah. Titching when it was in South Australia than the rest of Australia. So he did get us on a technicality. I don't think that's the same with me Pies. But we can look at it for us.
Starting point is 00:39:40 Central pile location. Like, and there'd be, yeah, pi HQ and then they'd be all going distributed from there. Sorry, Harry, you'd prefer them to be Harry, you'd want them heated up at perfect edible temperature. That'd be optimal, yes. I am. I mean, if I were, you know, I assumed I was going to say, where do you live, Harry, just so we can maybe, you know, hopefully we can get piles from your region? I'm in Sydney. Okay. Okay. Very good.
Starting point is 00:40:13 Yeah, great. I mean, there is the world-famous one they make movie stars. It is Harry's Cafe de Wheels in Sydney. Oh, yeah. I mean, have you ever done that because your name's Harry? I have had one, yeah. They're pretty good. They're pretty good. They're pretty good. Pretty good. What beats it?
Starting point is 00:40:28 Actually, my favorite pot is Stan Victoria, Daning Coinscliff. The Rolling Pin Bakery does a brilliant lamb and rosemary pot. Okay. He's expected to be such the goddess. Well, we should have expected him because he's a special skill, but he runs Australia. He's very good. He's very good. He's very good. He's very good.
Starting point is 00:40:45 He's very good. He's very good. He's very good. He's very good. He's very good. He's very good. He's very good. He's very good.
Starting point is 00:40:53 He's very good. He's very good. He's very good. He's very good. He's very good. He's very good. He's very good. He's very good.
Starting point is 00:41:01 He's very good. He's very good. He's very good. He's very good. He's very good. He's very good. He's very good. He's very good. Hey, hey, as I said in health, but it called a Tommy also joins us. Oh, how do you Tommy? Oh, hey boys, happy birthday, Andy. Thank you. Just you saying Tommy is making me think of Tommy's sauce, and we didn't check with Harry if he wants some sauce.
Starting point is 00:41:12 Sorry, let's quickly go to the Harry. Sorry, assume no sauce. I assume no sauce. No sauce. Thank you. Thank you. Because I mean, this is how you know they're professionally. With any eating, you know, people listen to food basedbased challenges, sorry, I don't want to get to
Starting point is 00:41:28 them once again. But people listen to food-based challenges and go, oh, that sounds fun. Like eating a hundred hot dogs. But if you're really into it, you actually forfeit the pleasure to get the job done. And of course, you would forfeit the pleasure of the sauce to get the job of identifying the pie done. Just couldn't leave us a professional. I know we'll get Jack wake up. Sorry, Jack was just lounging back. Harry, have you been to the USA? Yes, I have. Do you realize that they don't know what a meat pie is? I was there for three weeks and I was pretty happy to get home and have a meat pie.
Starting point is 00:42:07 Yeah. Exactly. Yeah. Incredible. Thanks, Harriet. We'll put you on hold. Tommy, back to you. Was it worth the go back here?
Starting point is 00:42:15 No. No. No. That's OK. Sometimes you go for the shot. Sometimes you miss. Sometimes you get it. Always worth having the shot.
Starting point is 00:42:23 Tommy, tell him you're what your special skill is. Tommy's from Perthham. So a big one. I've already seen that big one. I'm happy to ride my bike over if it saves and costs, but anyway, my skill is, I can tell if a car is manual or automatic just by looking at it. It's silly, I have enough time to practice going across the nullable.
Starting point is 00:42:43 Now, if you turn up, you turn up dehydrated on our doors except just with a score of guys, 486,000 out of 500,000, pretty happy with my hit rate. So yeah, a good question, Adda, is there a trick? Jack, do you know if there's a trick here? No, I don't know because I can't even drive a manual so I could only identify ordos. But you see, even if I can't drive a mining truck, but I could still identify.
Starting point is 00:43:09 You're right. No, the simple answer was no. You don't think so. So, you've been confused at the airport. Tommy, what are those things? Tommy, there must be some trick you don't have to tell us, but there must be some trick. Or do you just know every class and model of car? I don't know every class and model, I just I can look at it maybe by its age as well
Starting point is 00:43:29 kind of helps. Usually the old ones. It is fair to say that you know these days if you go to buy a new car there's less manuals available. Less frequent you'll be offered a manual. Not I mean there's a lot of manuals still out there, but is it, does it skew a bit too older to go, okay, that's more of a chance to being a manual?
Starting point is 00:43:51 Yeah, I feel like there's more of a chance that it'll be manuals if it's older, especially if it's more like a ute, you know, like tradesmen type of car. So you don't, you don't just know every single model of car. You're more going off the vibe of the car. Yeah, the way it looks, where it's feeling.
Starting point is 00:44:06 Jack, can you just put them both on hold for a second? In retrospect, I don't think Tommy's is going to be very fun to... I mean, I'm not going to make that young man ride across the country who turn up in our doorstep and get two out of five. I've invited him to a party and yeah, obviously we're going to say, um, thanks very much, you're time. But how have I got away? I got away. You got away. Great. That's pretty quick. Yeah. Thank you. Awesome, boys. Um, two really good skills. As I, you might have heard of the top, I don't know if you heard it or not, because, um,
Starting point is 00:44:39 you might have been unhauled, but yeah, both Rippers, we don't actually have any slots in the show at the moment. So we're just doing, um, doing this bit just to see what we could have been doing because we're chuckers at the moment, but absolute Rippers, so we'll let you go. First Tommy, thank you mate. Cheers, boys. No, no, you haven't at all. We're going to love to have you. Yeah, mate. Totally, legend. Thank you for listening. And, you know, Tommy's gone.
Starting point is 00:45:02 Okay, Harry, Harry, we lied to Tommy. Yeah we'll take yours. Oh, it's a lot of... Didn't want to be a fancy Tommy's face. I came up with that strategy on the fly. I didn't know what pain was going. Yeah I don't know if it worked. Tommy did exit go sorry if I'm doing it. Which is someone who's telling someone to that you weren't actually allowed to have people over tonight so you're gonna have to start letting them go one by one and you were
Starting point is 00:45:32 the first to be walked out. There would be a bit of you going. Have I let you mean to invite me? Yeah, no I did. I did. But we're not having people over and I'm walking them out one by one. We'll get a cent on the token of no value if you feel so. We absolutely are because let me just state this publicly. The offer that I'll ride my bike across shows what an outstanding person is. It just seemed like it was more of a vibe based game. It was a show that's exciting. It's going to be.
Starting point is 00:46:00 Yeah, that was a lot of, it was going to be a lot of investment to get him over to the East Coast to do that. So, there's no fault of his own. He's been asked to leave the party. LAUGHTER Harry, we'll be in touch with you mate and we'll organise this one. Cool, cheers.
Starting point is 00:46:11 Thanks very much. Bye. Thanks. MUSIC Hey guys, Mike here from the Hay Mission Andy team. Just popping in at the end of the podcast to let you all know that the remembering project is back. You can find it wherever you're listening
Starting point is 00:46:28 to this podcast every Monday, and if you missed it, here's a grab from this week's episode that came out on Monday. We went out to the Great Barrier together, but we first, you know, first year of knowing each other, just at a holiday. Would have been 2002. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:46:42 I said, hey, the guy, remember the guy hit the reef in the glass bottle? No. We can't do it. You go to. I said, hey, the guy, remember the guy hit the reef in the glass bottle? No. You go to town to your mark and you get to like a pontoon. And quite like, you know, quite a way off shore, I guess, I don't know, an hour or so boat ride. And they're talking about the conservation of the water. Oh, don't you dare, like.
Starting point is 00:46:58 This is so pristine. Don't touch it. When you're snorkeling, don't touch it, stay at least a meter above the river. Don't let your fins hit it. And so we were doing it, it's not a bit above the right. Don't let your fins hit it. And so we were doing it a snorkeling, but we also, the guy took us on the glass bottom boat to do a little cruise around.
Starting point is 00:47:11 And we were looking through the bottom of the glass going, Jesus, he knows how to, he knows this reef look out close. He's really, he's a good driver. He's so impressed. I was like, oh, he's a man. He's like, he has the skills on this guy. Like, every reef is. And we're going, maybe, tamplifying it. It means magnifying it.
Starting point is 00:47:25 It looks close to the glass. I don't think that's ugly. Oh no. Yeah, it really, really played it. Shulted. The guy shanning something. Oh, absolutely. Look immediately, look back to the pontoon
Starting point is 00:47:39 because there's several glass bottom boats going out from the pontoon, going shit. But if someone's seen this, I'm out of a job. And then he was just guarding it in reverse to like, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr later.
