It's such a hard thing to do, and there was just every emotion was real on that day. There was nothing about it that was fake. And the hardest part was that I couldn't tell anyone. Oh my gosh. Sorry. it was really, really sweet to see her get emotional talking about saying goodbye to this chapter of her life and her friends and her family, who, of course, will remain in her life, but it's different. I'm so thrilled that you all are here tonight because as much as I've talked to this young woman over the years, she's never done the podcast, and tonight is the night. You're all here for one reason. I'm going to give her a little bit of an introduction, so hold on Millie. Millie Bobby Brown, I mean, what can I say? I know it's foolish to compare ourselves to people at different ages, but I don't know about you, but at 22, I had done nothing. At 22, Millie, in addition to being a wife, a mom, a real-life Dr. Doolittle to more animals than I can count, is such an accomplished actor and producer and author. Obviously, she is, will always be 11 from the pop culture phenomenon that was

stranger things. Yes, you're allowed to clap, yes. But we're also celebrating tonight because she is, of course, producer and star of this wonderful franchise that continues in its third installment. We're going to give you a little sneak peek tonight as the conversation goes. Noah Holmes 3 comes out on Netflix July 1st. I know you're going to spread the good word. There she is. Thank you for having me. Oh, my goodness. I'm so happy to be here. What an amazing introduction. Thank you. Oh, that's sweet. Look, I mean, no competition, but Harbors done the podcast five times.

So you have a lot of... Yorn. No, I'm five times. I know. He has nothing else to do. Exactly. Yeah, you're busy. You're a busy lady. Precisely. She's such a busy lady. Can we say where you just came from? My baby girl. No, I was going to say that. Oh! She did not want me to leave. The sweetest baby in the back is there, Millie's. But I was going to say the press you just did. You just did a... Hot ones. You know, I just did it. And guys, my mouth is on fire. So if you see me drinking an abundance of water, it's because of that. Okay, so look, we've talked a lot over the years. It is kind of astonishing when I list kind of all the things that you have done are doing mentally, physically, emotionally, what age do you feel like? Because like you've packed a lot into 22 years already.

Goodness. Well, online, if you Google it, everybody says I look like a 50-year-old. Lies. And honestly, I'm here for that. My mom looks amazing for 50. Gosh, I feel very much 22. Good. Enjoy it, yes. I feel 22. I feel like I'm having the best time ever. I just am so blessed, so lucky.

I love being a young mum because I'm able to run around and chase after her. And, you know, I love, yeah, I love where I'm at right now. I never was the kind of girl to be like. out on the town, you know? So it wasn't just in my nature. I love living on my farm. I love sewing. I don't know, something's wrong with me.

It must be because I'm like, my mom's like, Mill, do you want to go out to dinner? My mom has more of a great time than I do. I'm like, no, no, no, no. Like, Summer House is on my TV. I'm embroidering. This is where I want to be. So, yeah, I, you know, I'm very lucky in the place I'm at,

but I'm very much 22. You spent needles to say a lot of time on sets for the last 10 years. I was counting. It must be about 13 years. Yeah. So did you miss on any life skills along the way? Do you feel like because of the nature of your life,

you lack any basics that most people learn just in the course of a normal life? It's a good question. Well, I didn't go to public school. Right. So maybe a bit of socialization. Sometimes when fans come up to me, they'll be like, Millie, and I'll be like, ah! And it's not because I've, it's because I'm genuine. I just don't know how to react sometimes to people my own age.

I have a harder time because I grew up with primarily men on cruise. Let's change that. But men over 40 years old. And so I heard a lot of adult. talk growing up and didn't really talk about the things you're meant to talk about as a kid because you just hear, you know, you hear, where's the, where's the grip? Let's grab a ladder, you know, and so that's your whole conversation. So I could talk to that person for extensively hours about different lens changes and shots, but you, I can't talk about, you know, oh my God,

what bars do you like around this area? I'm like, I don't know. Don't know. So I lack a little bit of that. would say when I met my husband, he's the most social butterfly, the complete opposite stick of me. He went to boarding school and college. So he is like a social butterfly. When I met him, I really tried to lead in more into that. So I'm in my social era. Well, there's also, and you've talked about this before, like, I mean, social media is so important, sadly, for all of us. It's how we kind of connect in some ways to the world. And by nature of what you've done, like, there's no worse demographic to be stuck on social media than like a famous young woman. Like I can't even like I have enough trouble.

Tell. Right. Right. So what, I mean, and you've had to navigate that and probably have like gone on and left social media probably a few times. Has that felt like something that you've cracked, you've figured out like how to maintain some kind of connection to the outside world yet protect yourself? I deleted social media in 2021.

one and I never looked back. Yeah. There was a good for you from the audience. We all agree. I couldn't do it anymore. Like, I tried, but I have a large digital footprint. And I thought, no, there's no need for this anymore. So I needed to hire someone for my mental health to take care of it for me.

Somebody who is an expert in social media who knows what they're doing, who that's literally what they went to school for, right? And I am like, you take care of it. I still want to feel connected to my fans. I still want my fans to know it's my caption. I'm thinking about, you know, but I don't want to see what people have to say about it. Yeah.

Because I don't care. Do you, yes. This is the healthiest. Good for you. You have a long way before you have to worry about this, but with a young daughter, do you think about that eventually of like screens, social media, all of that? Is that in your head?

Well, there's a TV back there, and I said, okay, you can watch Mama, but that's the only screen time you're getting today. I do think about it, and I worry because I don't know what life looks like in 15 years. But there's no need for it until she's like 60 years old, I think. And then stranger things, and that's it. No, she doesn't need to watch anything. However, I did show her in Ola Homes 1 And she wasn't interested at all

And then I said, tisai And she looked up because I sounded like, mom, you know So yeah, so she liked it She watched like five minutes and then got completely disinterested But it was very nice to be able to show her that You know, all of my childhood is on Netflix We need to get her on letterboxed We need a review, we need her to

I just did letterboxed And I really regret the things that I said on there. You know, I felt really in the moment and pressured. With the four favorites of that thing you have to do? I went home. I said, why did I say that? I said the most random movies ever. I was put under a lot of pressure.

Okay, so let's talk at Noel Holmes story. Congratulations. So this, I would think, look, I mean, it's one thing to be a part of this ginormous ensemble

on Stranger Things, and you're obviously as important to factor in that success as anybody. But you are Anola Holmes. You are a producer on Anola Holmes. Do you take a special pride in the success of this series of films that they have a huge audience in their own right, and it's really built very much on your prowess as an actor? and a producer. That's very sweet. It's funny because, you know, I, when I do films, I'm like,

you know, I try to bring heroes to life. I try to bring heroes for young girls and boys, but mostly girls, because we need more heroes on screen for girls, to feel connected and to feel inspired and capable. And I am really proud. You know, back then I'd be like, oh, yeah, I'm Manola Holmes. But like, it's fine. It's just silly, you know. But now I'm like, no, I'm a Nola.

And I'm really proud to be able to bring that to screen, especially when young girls come up to me and they say how much they love her. I would say it's a close second to what people say, you know, oh my gosh, are you 11? It's a very close second to, oh, my gosh, I love Anola Holmes. And then the third being, I really like this dragon movie you were in. But I can't remember the name of it. Thank you.

They remember. But yes. But people love the Anola Homes. There's so many people that go into building the Anola Homes world. But yeah, I'm very proud to play her. Very honored. As you can imagine, we're going to take some questions from the audience here in a bit, but we also got some sent in via evil social media.

But these are the good ones that sent in some questions. Here's one from MBB Love. Maybe that's in honor of you. What Taylor Swift song best describes Anola in Inola Holmes three. It's funny. I was doing press with my co-star Louis today, and I said, Mad Woman, Taylor Swift.

But it's like, there's nothing like a mad woman. What's the matter with that? And I'm like, that's Anola. That's Anola. She's a mad woman. So is Udoria. But yeah, it's definitely madwoman, but I'm forever in my Taylor era. Did you get the invite to the wedding? Are you crashing it? What's the plan?

No comment. Oh, I didn't expect to hit Peter, maybe. I don't know. So what excited you, okay, so as you approach a third film, I want to talk about the location and there's some returning actors, some new actors, but what excited you as you approached this third one? Oh my goodness, so much. First of all, we're filming in Malta, which I'd never thought we'd ever leave London. So that was really exciting. The whole wedding theme was really exciting because I just got married myself, so I was like, ah, you get to do it all over again.

But honestly, I was really excited about Phil Barrentini. I don't know. Have any of you guys watched Adolescence? Oh, amazing. Come on. I mean, the most fantastic director to ever live. I obsessed with Phil Barantini. He's a close friend. But when I met him, I was scared. I was like, who's going to direct?

You know, we had our amazing director, Harry Bradbury, for the first and second. And I was nervous. And the first day I met him, I was like, okay, I really like him. For two weeks into filming, you'd think he's like my brother. I mean, we just connected so much. and he was probably the main reason this film is my favorite and that I loved the filming so much. He's such a, you know, he's such a collaborator.

And what does, I mean, needless to say, shooting on location, there's no substitute. Malta, like you said, I think the last movie that I remember the date me was Popeye, like 45 years ago. And we, by the way, we visited that, like, museum there because that was like pretty much the only thing to do. Yeah. Go to Malta. It was hot.

Okay. And being in that clothing. Yeah. Not Malta friendly. Not Malta friendly. So, I mean, I had to have like a serious sit-down with the production about bringing in more fans and air-conditioning tents for the crew. I was, yeah. My, basically, my sole job for two months was keeping the crew and cast cool.

I just thought about it every single night. Jake was like Millie. Like, I was like, everyone needs to be cool. Like, it is too hot. And I would walk around being like SPF, SPF, SPF, SPF. But yeah, I definitely feel like, yeah, Malta was amazing, but it was very hot. And an added element of that is your hot, so you can't focus. It was like when I filmed Stranger Things Season 4 in New Mexico.

We were filming in the desert, you know, and I'm trying to focus. but I can't keep my eyes open because the sun and the sand was so bright. And you as a viewer enjoying it, you're like, ah, and I'm just sat there like, I remember how painful that was to film, you know? So there's so many added environment, like issues that you can face on a set that you'd never think to an audience eye. Now, when you watch the film, you can think of the pain that are stars. Sweat dripping down my body.

You know what I'm always fascinated by the falling in love or happy montage and how awkward that might be to film. Is it at all? Am I clocking something or not? It's funny because I just finished a romance movie called Just Picture It. Very excited for you guys to see that. And it was full of montage moments. And you just have to like

love this person. So much smiling and laughing. Just like, ah! You should have like really fall into it. With Lou, it's so easy because we have such a long friendship. And I trust him, he trusts me.

And I just said to him, you know, let's play some Lord. So we played Lord and Green Light was basically our song the whole time. And for four minutes, I was just like, let's just play in the set. And so I just grabbed things, hit him. He grabbed a pillow, whacked me over the head. And then they were like, okay, less finding, more loving? And I was like, oh, okay. And we just had the best time when we danced.

And it was just a great time. And they called Cut. And, you know, Lou and I are just absolutely sweating because it's the height of the summer. And they said that we got everything. It was so great. And we had the... We were like, we could keep going with that. That was so fun.

Because sometimes it can get a bit boring with long dialogue scenes. We were saying the same thing for 12 hours. So it was really fun to just kind of let loose and improv. Yeah. And to be fair, a lot of your career has been spent action, which I want to talk about, but also, like, not looking happy in a scene. Oh my gosh, my whole career has been me sobbing crying. Right.

She's earned some happiness. I mentioned the action, the stunts. You take a lot of pride in that. Absolutely. Female Tom Cruise. So do you have a relationship with Tom Cruise? Is he on speed dial? He is a dear friend.

Yeah. It's amazing. He's a wonderful man and very lucky. I'm very lucky to call him my friend. Why are you not like the daughter of Ethan Hunt in Mission Impossible? Let's get it out there. Let's get it out there. But no, Tom, I mean, Tom does like, you know, the craziest stunts. And I think he's trying to get me to somehow fly a plane at some point.

I don't know. I've flown his helicopter before, and I was like, this might be the last time I ever fly anything of his equipment. But it's truly like, you know, it's a thrilling experience. And I just want, oh my gosh, I was like, what's happening? Oh, my gosh. I thought it was like the theater where we were offering popcorn and sodas again. But I, yeah, I feel like for me it's a very thrilling experience to be able to do my own stunts. And I don't want young girls to think they can't.

And another thing, you'll always hear an older actor say, don't do your own stunts. And it's like, okay, I get that. But back in the day, they might have been throwing you against a wall. And now, like, if you get a really great stunt coordinator, and you learn how to land and you learn the whole technique of it, we as actors should know how to do certain things. I'm not saying take away from any stunt double ever because I want everybody to have a job.

However, I do think it's our job to learn and to adapt and to, you know, for me as an actor, I just genuinely feel like I have to learn it so I can feel it and act it. So I try to do 90%. And the 10% is probably, you know, in my contract that I'm not all. loud, even though I beg. Is there, so I mentioned someone like Tom, I mean, that's an amazing person to have as a resource. Like, do you have like

older actors that like you look to when you have a career or an acting question? Are they like, is like Winona, someone you like hit up? Like, who do you hit up? Were those... Winona, yeah, Winona will text every four months, but the longest message ever, you know?

However, Helena Bonham Carter. my mother. She is there for me whenever I need her, and I am very, very grateful to her. Matthew Maudine, my godfather. Affidated your wedding. He officiated my wedding.

It doesn't come much closer than that. It doesn't, no. And I knew it from the moment Jake proposed to me that Papa had to do that. And I asked him, and then two years later, he said, are you serious about, I said, yeah, we're getting married in a month. You have to come in a month.

like, wait, what do you mean? I was like, I told you two years. He's like, I thought it was a passing comment. How did he do? He was amazing. Oh my gosh. His voice is so calming. And he was there when Jake and I first ever met. He was in the room. No one else. And I ran up to him and I said, he's so tall and handsome. So he got all of the teenage jitters. But what, oh gosh, I have, I'm very lucky. David Harbour is a great, you know, great person I like to talk to him. him. Goodness, I mean, there must be,

there must be a lot. I mean, I've had like, you know, I've, I've been able to communicate with people like Leonardo DiCaprio and, you know, when I was young, Natalie Portman was, you know, gosh, she's an icon.

So I've been really, really lucky to be surrounded with actors that have just offered their support and love. And now I'm really glad I'm in a place where I'm able to do that to others. Not just actors, but, you know, someone like Owen Cooper who's in adolescence. He has my number. Any time he needs me, has any questions. He texts me. He's like, hey, am I doing this magazine? Is this like a one I should do? And I'm like, Owen, do what makes you happy. If you're not tired, do it. But if you're tired, don't do it. You know, don't run yourself into the

ground and listen to your parents and just enjoy it. But don't push yourself. And it's really nice to be able to give advice like that. It's like you're talking to yourself as a young person, right? Because that's what the other people were saying to me. Right. And I listened. So, yeah. Well, it's amazing to pass it down to the next, yeah.

It's funny. You told me in the past, like I was asking you kind of like the scenes you kind of dread in the script. It doesn't spoil anything to say that I think towards the end of the film, you're in the water. You're a producer on this film. You said you hate water. I hate water. What are you doing? What are you doing to yourself?

I don't know. You couldn't have rewritten that one? It's so romantic. Right. I was doing it for the moment. However, I did complain the whole time. Don't get me wrong. The water was, well, when we filmed in the ocean, I was terrified because a week before,

a great white shark was spotted in those waters. And I'm my, if you know me, I'm my biggest fear of sharks. So I was just hanging onto Louis the whole time. By the end of it, he was just underwater because I was just drowning him. And then we were on the pool for some of the, it and that was great and they were like merely get out of the water I was like no I'll just stay in here for my break but yeah we had a great time actually it wasn't terrible but it was one day right I don't want to be the little mermaid doing it for four months you know it's important to know

yourself and you know yourself I know myself I don't do night shoots and I don't do water so if you're a director and watching this I'm just probably not your cow unless you're Christopher Nolan or Steven Seale were the exceptions the rule I would imagine yes exactly just send me the script We can work on this together. Did you watch it with friends and family? Did you, what were the circumstances for you? Good question. I got sent it. I got sent it at the same time the cast watched it here in New York. I was with my family, and I put it on. And I was fine at first, and then we got like halfway through, and I was like, gulping, because I knew we were getting closer to the end.

And my family knew, but they didn't know, they didn't know the specifics of what it would, look like and how it kind of ended in that way. And then I just bowled for like a month. So the whole of January, I cried. And I went into a bit of a slight, slight bit of depression. It was very hard for me. I would not have expected that coming a mile off of the show. I'm a very happy-go-lucky person.

And then I was like on the beach. It was beautiful and I'm just sat there crying. It's a very hard time for me and no one will ever understand it. Like you

guys are sat here like what are you talking you know it's like I started the show when I was 10 and this character was me and these people were in my life more than my own family I saw these people more than going home and being and eating dinner with my family so saying goodbye to that after 10 years was a very very emotional thing and I'm going to miss 11 more than anything I would imagine no is returning your texts I hope no is still in your life there he is He is. He's just obsessed with my child. So he's like, I'm coming over. She sounds like she needs me.

Did you, again, we talked about social media, but you don't have to have social media to kind of know what the reaction is, good and bad and everything in between. And the fans have always been very vocal. Yeah, so boring. My gosh. I'm like, guys, come on, just enjoy.

He loves it. Yeah, he's a total film nerd. Any new movies are out, he's watching it, and he just begs me to watch it. So are you going to, is he going to drag you or not drag you to Spider-Man, The Odyssey? The Odyssey is already in the books. He's already put it, he said, Millie, I need you, and I have to have a coffee because I typically fall asleep, and it's not because of the film, it's because I'm tired. I'm a mom. ericby winnie jimmy dorothy oh i've added another one trouble who was left at the vet by their owner um she got hit by a car so i got a call on my birthday it was my vet and they're like no and i'm like oh my god it's one of my dogs. They're like, no, it's another dog got hit by a car. Can you pay for the surgery and keep the dog? It's like, of course. You're an easy mark. Like, I mean, like, all right, do whatever you need to do and troubles here and she's thriving and loving life. And yeah, she's doing great with her three legs. So we have trouble. And then we have Molly, Bobby, Max, who are my big dogs. I'm definitely missing someone here. But it's not just

dogs. You have, no, I have, yeah, like 10 dogs. But then I have, you know, sheep, pigs, horses, ponies. Missing. Sheep, cows. Of course. Chickens. Yeah. And I love it.

I love my animals. They're reproducing. The other day I went out and I was like, there's a baby goat. And I don't know who just gave birth. And so I'm looking around and I'm like, Cotty B, you gave birth. Okay. And then I'm like, who's the perpetrator? So then you've got to go and find who's getting everyone pregnant.

I'm like Eminem. We're getting you in the vet immediately. So he's been sorted out. Yes. And we've got two gorgeous little goats, baby goats on the farm now. And yeah, we're just loving life. It's the best. And there's nothing more grounding than being with animals and taking care of animals.

Like work with your local shelters, rescue. And if you're ever able to just save an animal, do it. You know, what I love about New York City is I was walking down the street once, and I saw a woman performing surgery on a pigeon. And I was like, what are you doing? She's like, it's a pigeon. And I said, but they're like rats here, you know? There's thousands.

And what I love is that she saw the life that I saw, which was, it's a pigeon, but you save every life. So if you're ever able to save every animal and love on them as much as you can. I totally go. We have a rescue. Just one, I feel like a poser, but... Oh, my God, one. Obsessed.

You know my dream is to get you on my dog show. Oh, my gosh. Celebrities and dogs. I would love that. Who's a good guest? Is the name of the show. Can we book you? I will be there.

I never like working with animals, because they're always pressured into doing stuff. And I'm like, no, no, no working with animals. Let them be, say, they want to go and poo over there. I don't want to say it to my purpose because being a mum is my purpose, but acting has been all I've ever known, and I could never give that up. So where are you at? Again, you have a lot on your plate. Being a young mom and being Dr. Doolittle in Georgia,

but you have a lot of opportunities. You're in a rarefied space. Not many, like, 22-year-olds can essentially get a film greenlit. you probably can do a lot, right? Use your power for good. Like, what are your priorities and the kind of things that you're trying to produce and act in?

Where's your head up? 19 steps. It will be up next, which is a book that I wrote about my grandmother's stories about World War II. I have my romance movie and I'm slowly developing things

of Netflix in my home studio and just wanting to develop things that feel right for me, feel right for the time in my life. I really want to try different things. I've always wanted to be in a rom-com, so just picture it's that for me. I'm really excited about that. 19 steps is just like a home project.

It's something that is so personal to me. But yeah, like I'm down for anything. I love reading scripts and seeing new stuff. My husband and I develop and produce everything now together, and with his artistic eye, I just kind of follow his lead in terms of scripts. And then I'll sometimes say, oh, my God, like I just read this article

and I feel like we should do something. And he does the same thing. So we just collaborate and talk late at night about like, okay, what's missing? What do I want to see? What do you want to see? What's missing? And so we just talk and we're in a very lucky space

where we're able to develop and create and collaborate together. Is Prism something that's potentially still for Netflix? this like ghosts? I think it's so, yeah, it's somewhere in the world. I think what's crazy is that we're, where, um, the schedule is, is insane and it's just placing things in the right place,

um, for my time, like for my time and my schedule. But the David Harbor project is, is sooner than expected, I think. And this is not something we've heard about. This is never, until now.

And it's David's idea. So kudos to him. Love it. I'm so excited. Okay. I mean, it sounds like the experience is as important as anything to you of making films. And you've learned that from doing the hard work and seeing different kinds of sets, I would imagine. And now being like number one for a lot of your projects, most of your projects, frankly,

what's the environment you're trying to establish on a set? What's most important to you? I don't tolerate any bullying. I don't tolerate any negativity. I you have been in situations like that before and I only tolerate positivity, love, friendship,

kindness, trust, communication and I just will stop people in their tracks if I see if I see that any, you know, I'll just take them to the side and this isn't, this isn't working. Yeah. You know?

Life is too short to... Yeah, it says we're not doing anything crazy here. We're playing pretend for goodness My daughter plays pretend. This is meant to be fun. We're meant to enjoy ourselves. We're doing this to inspire people. You know, let's not, let's not yell or be upset or dwell on something that's very, very small and minor.

Yes, we're losing light, but let's live in the moment. Let's, you know, I've like, you have 15 minutes left. This could be where we get something special. Let's not whine about it. Let's enjoy the moment and seize the moment and act, which is what we're meant to do. So I try to just keep it a very positive. exciting place to be. What are the biggest highs you feel on a set? Like is it? Oh, I love when we're losing light. And you're like, you know. And everybody's got to hurry up because you're like, quickly.

Nobody forget their lines. Um, those moments are really fun. I just love logistics too. You know, oh, somebody's traveling. So now we've got, who we're going to bring in to do this scene? And oh, it's raining. So we don't have a studio. So we're going to have to do it. You know, I love all of that. I love building. I'm really heavy into the production. I'm sure the obvious question, three and out, or is there more in Noel Holmes than you? Would you like to continue this character? I mean, I love Netflix. If they're there, you're there? Of course. I'll always be there for her. Is, again, an insane amount on your plate, is theater at all interest to you at some point? Not really. Not right now. Yeah. Not right now.

Just getting started. I just am not really interested in theater yet, you know. I have a lot of admiration for people that are interested in it. And I enjoy theatre so much, especially musical theatre. But in my world right now, I don't think I'm in that place, but that could very much change. And maybe the thing that brings me into it could be the thing that I absolutely adore. I just haven't seen that yet. So we talked about films that Jake wanted to expose you to vice versa, film, TV. you know when you watch something as an actor you're just like what did they have to go through where did they film this is that a boom mic right you know oh that was I don't I don't think they should have cut to that. You know, that's just how I think. I don't really get to really love it the way I think others do. And so for me, reality is just a sloppy mess.

You're not going to be on Love Island, I think, for various reasons anytime soon. But any reality, do you daydream about, like, I want to be on the traitors? Oh my gosh, I so want to be on the traces. Josh, you've just touched a nerve. Apparently. I want to be on the traces because I think I'd be really good. They do say funny stuff, though, but the Duffers will be like, okay, Millie, I really like that take, but can we do like 30% less of that, but 40% more of the excitement, but then like 50% more on, pace and I'm like okay because after 10 years you understand what that means but when people come to set and visit me they're like what was that note and I'm like
