Do you think it's going to be just sort of an extrapolation to where it is right now? Well, I think there's a lot of smart people wrestling with that right now. Today I'm speaking with Michelle Herodence.
Starting point is 00:00:43 She's the executive vice president of Embridge Inc and president of Embridge Gas. She's a leader helping us reshape how millions of us experience energy at home. Join me, Chris Hadfield, on the On Energy Podcast. Listen wherever you get your podcast. Prepare your ears, humans. Happy, sad, confused begins now. Today on Happy, Say, Confused, we go live at the 92nd Street Y with Sam Hewlin.
Starting point is 00:01:16 Hey guys, I'm Josh Harrowitz. Welcome to another edition of Happy, Sad, Confused. And yes, it happened. I got up in front of a live audience in my beloved New York City at the 92nd Street Y. saw a bunch of your lovely faces, about 900 strong, filled up the Y, and it was a, it was a magical night. I mean that.
Starting point is 00:01:38 It was a really, really special evening. And I know some people made a long trip in for it. I appreciate that. And I'm so thrilled that I get to share it with you guys in this form, too. If you weren't able to make it, if you didn't buy a ticket, I want to make sure that these events are available to everybody. for those that couldn't purchase the ticket, et cetera. So that's what we're going to try and do with these live events at the Y.
Starting point is 00:02:06 You'll always be able to buy tickets and attend them obviously in person and watch them virtually live, which has its own very special value. But we'll also, after the fact, sometimes soon, sometimes later, we'll do our best to always offer you guys the audio versions of the podcast and the video versions on the Patreon. So right now, if you go to patreon.com slash happy, say I'm confused, You will be able to enjoy this full video version of The Night with Sam Hewain. So Sam, as you guys know, is a frequent guest on the podcast.
Starting point is 00:02:39 He is a friend, I'll say it. He might not agree to it, depending on his mood, but he is. And it's been a really fun week of Outlander shenanigans. As some of you know, I ventured off to London. for my first international travel in over two years and we surprised Sam guys he didn't know we were coming I snuck in a corner of a hotel room
Starting point is 00:03:07 with a camera crew otherwise it would be creepy it's kind of creepy either way and I jumped out and surprised him so I don't know there's so much to catch you guys up on so that is turning into there's a little peak of that video in this event at the Y which you'll hear on the podcast or a view if you go over to Patreon but that full video
Starting point is 00:03:27 is going to be a really fun comedy central bit that we created that is being worked on right now. That should be available pretty soon. But we also were on the carpet. I drank some whiskey with Sam and all of his co-stars. There's a lot of outlander content coming your way with all the stars. I even caught up with Katrina Balfe virtually for a brief chat. That's on the Patreon. So, look, I know a lot of you guys listen to the podcast or go to the Patreon
Starting point is 00:03:56 because you're super Outlander fans, super Sam and Katrina fans. So I want to be there for you. And I love this cast as much as you do. So the next month plus, while Outlander is back, you're going to be just drowning in awesome content. And the best way to view it, in all honesty, is the Patreon page. And I know that's shelling out a little bit of money, but I truly think you're going to get your money's worth
Starting point is 00:04:21 and more than that if you give it a try. So that's my showing for Patreon. Patreon.com slash happy, sad, confused. But let's talk about the live version of this, the audio version of this for you guys right now. This is, what you're about to hear, is a live event that we take to the Y. You're going to hear, mostly it works. I mean, 99% works. There's a couple parts where we're talking about some visuals that are obviously on stage.
Starting point is 00:04:48 But honestly, I watch this and listen to this. It works in audio form, too. So you'll get the gist of it You'll certainly get the energy of the evening Which was fantastic And I've heard from so many of you already That you really had a blast So if you haven't listened to this or watch us yet
Starting point is 00:05:06 I can't wait to hear what you have to say I hope you get a kick out of it like we all did Other things to mention Oh here's another big thing So we're already doing another event at the Y With a legend A huge Hollywood legend one of the best actors on the planet, and that is not hyperbole, Samuel L. Jackson, March 10th
Starting point is 00:05:28 at the 92nd Street Y. I'll put the link in the show notes. You can also just go to the 92Y page. Again, like the Sam Hewin event, you can come in person. Please, please, please, if you can, come in person. The energy of these live events, there's nothing like it. If you can't be there in person, buy a virtual ticket, be there live, watch along with everybody else. Sam Jackson is not only a great actor, I mean, his resume is insane, but he's a great interview. I mean, this guy is like, he's been on the podcast before. He is totally candid, and I expect a really special evening with Sam Jackson. March 10th, New York City, me and the legend.
Starting point is 00:06:11 So come on out if you can, again, purchase your tickets via the link in the show notes. What else do I want to mention? Well, hey, this week, if you're listening to this, You know, in early March, the Batman is about to come out. My interview with Robert Haddnson and Zoe Kravitz is about to drop. I'll tweet that out. I'll put that on my Instagram, but that's going to be on MTV News, feeds. There's a podcast brewing in the Batman universe.
Starting point is 00:06:38 That could be coming next week, I think. Stay tuned. And I think that's it. That's the whole shebang. I mean, I could spend the next 20 minutes telling you about London and all the fun stuff we did there. I know you're here because you probably want to hear the Sam Hewen chat, so let's just get right to it. The next voice you're going to hear, I believe, is the 92nd Streetwise, Tage Greenlee, who is introducing me, and then you're going to hear a swell of applause for Sam Hewin and just a magical night in New York City.
Starting point is 00:07:10 I hope you guys enjoy it. Remember to review, rate, and subscribe to Happy Say I Confused. Give the Patreon page a try. Patreon.com slash Happy Say I Confused. But if you're not at all that, it's all good. Enjoy this chat. Me and Sam Hewain. And enjoy Outlander.
Starting point is 00:07:26 It's coming this Sunday. Check it out on Stars. New season. Here you go. Please give a warm 92-wide welcome to Josh Horwitz. Hey, guys. Hi guys, welcome again to this happy, sad, confused, live at the 92nd Street Live. It has been like 600 years since I've done a live event of Happy Sadd Confused.
Starting point is 00:08:07 So this is so meaningful, it is meaningful for many reasons. Ninety Second Street Y, a cultural institution in New York. I'm so thrilled that they have welcomed us here tonight. No, I mean, I went to high school like five blocks away from here. This is really big for me. This is the first, hopefully many, we're doing, as Taj was mentioning. We're doing Sam Jackson next week. Please come on out there, say hi.
Starting point is 00:08:32 He's got some stuff to talk about too. But I know why you're here. You're here for another Sam. So my guest tonight, I spent a fair bit of time with. He is the star of a show called Outlander. You should check it out.
Starting point is 00:08:58 Pretty good, I hear. The new season begins this Sunday. He's a best-selling author. He is a world traveler alongside his friend, Graham McTavish.
Starting point is 00:09:15 He is a purveyor of whiskey and tequila. most importantly. And kind of sort of maybe, sometimes I consider him a friend, if not a friend of me. Hopefully we'll see if he's a friend tonight. Please give a big New York welcome to Sam Hewin. When you say friend, I mean, is that in parentheses, friends?
Starting point is 00:09:56 No. No. You are my most important special friend, Sam. We've talked about this. You said you went to school near here? Yes. Is anyone from your school here? No.
Starting point is 00:10:07 Really? Oh. I don't think so. That can't be. So you do have friends. You are my only friend that's left. Thank you for coming out tonight. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:10:17 Thank you for 92. Yes. Wow. What are we doing? Sam and I were just half joking. Like, what is there left to talk about? We have talked a lot of times. We're going to somehow fill this hour.
Starting point is 00:10:33 First of all, you're back in New York. I am. I think. Oh, thank you. Wow. So good to be back. What are the big New York City traditions? Do you get a bagel?
Starting point is 00:10:44 A bagel. Do you visit The naked cowboy? What do you do? What? You don't know about the naked cowboy? He doesn't know about the naked cowboy guys. No. You don't go to Times Square.
Starting point is 00:10:55 I was looking for a bagel today and I got an English muffin. No. No. Very disappointing. Messed it up. So anyway, go to Times Square. Yeah. There's this dude that's been there for like 20 years.
Starting point is 00:11:05 He's naked. He's like a, he's wearing something, like a... Tidy Whitties. Yeah. Tidy Whitties. You could play the naked cowboy in a movie. You could be like the next naked cowboy if you wanted. I would love to play a cowboy.
Starting point is 00:11:18 Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. We obviously can't and shouldn't do this entirely sober. No, I think it's, obviously the last time we drank whiskey together, it went really well. Right. Yeah, always goes well. Sam has a new spirit that is...
Starting point is 00:11:39 I have a new spirit. He's sweating. He's scared. I'm scared. So can we drink some tequila together? Let's drink some tequila. Do we have any? It's coming.
Starting point is 00:11:53 We're like, oh, it's in one of these bottles. Yeah, exactly. It's coming out. Bring out the tequila. Bring out the tequila. How did the tequila happen? There's like a tequila song. Oh, here we go.
Starting point is 00:12:03 Look at this. Wow. Oh, yeah. That's a big pool. Welcome to New York. Thank you. Yeah. How gorgeous that is.
Starting point is 00:12:16 Congratulations. Salute. Salue. Slangea. That's... To you guys. It's just a little one. It's good.
Starting point is 00:12:25 I'll be honest, because I love whiskey, but I really love tequila. So this is... Now you're speaking my language. Uh-oh. Okay. Well, we've got half a bottle to go. Okay, okay. The night is young.
Starting point is 00:12:40 The night is young. Oh, it's great. Oh, sake. Oh, yeah. Okay. Have you ever, to play drunk in a scene, have you ever done the method acting thing? Have I ever, like drunk on set? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:55 That's what you're asking, I guess. I mean, I think we've talked about it a few times on Outlander. There was definitely the odd time where we need a little Dutch courage, especially for those scenes. But no, not really. I have to admit. I mean, occasionally on a night shoot, you know, we might have a wee dram now and then, but you just can't. It's so late, and you're trying to remember your lines. I can barely remember that the best of time, so...
Starting point is 00:13:19 No, I hear you. I hear you. We do have a lot to cover, because a lot's going on. This is, there's a lot of Outlander promotion going on. Yeah. You were just in London. We were. We just had the premiere. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:35 But the biggest night, possibly of, well, not my life, but certainly for the past couple of years. You know, we've been building Outlander, building up to this moment. We've been delayed because of COVID. Right. The night, the big night for me, was spoiled. But what could possibly spoil a beautiful moment like that? Did somebody compromise this wonderful day? Someone turned up. He shouldn't have been there. So I'm very proud of this, guys. As some of you may know, I surprised Sam.
Starting point is 00:14:04 I pulled one over on him. Yeah. So here's what happened. Okay, I want to give the backstory of this. I conspired with my friends at Central, stars Sam's team. We were all in on it. Oh, they were? Oh, yeah. Oh, okay. All right. The day or day before, I sent out a tweet. Can we show the tweet that I sent? A tweet? Is that too much tequila already? I tweeted. No, I'm totally fine that I'm missing the Outlander premiere in London.
Starting point is 00:14:31 I'm definitely not miserable. Sam Ewan, be strong without me. Now, knowing my friend Sam Hewain... Oh, he put the bait out there. He couldn't resist. So I had to put it out there. convince him I wasn't there. Let's see the next tweet, please. Of course. Yeah. It's such a shame. Oh, well. I guess I'll just have to party without all my friends.
Starting point is 00:14:56 So, sorry, you're all alone. Don't feel sad. We'll all be having a terrific time, a terrific time. I can just feel. I was pretty proud of that one. I know. I can just feel the pride in writing that tweet. You must have been so happy taking at your friend's. Oh, poor little Joshy. All alone. what happened, guys. Oh. Here's what happened. Not yet, not yet. We told Sam, team Sam, told Sam that he was going to surprise some Outlander fans in a room, in a hotel room. He was led
Starting point is 00:15:27 to this hotel room. And so what you're about to see, no one has seen yet, and here's my plea to you guys, if you're taping this, if you're watching virtually, don't spread this out to the world because this is, first of all, for you guys, and second of all, we're going to cut a whole big piece on Comedy Central that will be, we'll have tons more to it. So this is just for you right now. So this is the moment that Sam Hewin. I'm sorry about the swearing. And how is your black eye? Is it okay? Yeah, yeah. I'm okay. I'm healing quickly. Here is the video of me surprising Sam in London. Oh no, nope, no, no, no, no. Wrong with you guys. Wow. You, uh, yeah. We upped our production values a lot.
Starting point is 00:16:13 Yeah, I was just going to say. Wow. You spent a lot on the, on the CGI for that. Wow. I'm going to go back into hibernation. Do you wear the way? What are you doing in London? Nope, no, guys.
Starting point is 00:16:25 I mean, Jesus, can you boys not be apart for five minutes? It's so good to see you. It's so good to see you. Guys, guys, can you cut that? That's not it. That's not it. 30 seconds. I'm going to sleep saying it's not it.
Starting point is 00:16:40 Keep saying it's not it. Okay? Wow. Guys. Okay. You have one more shot at this guys. Yeah, someone's been drinking the tequila backstage. No?
Starting point is 00:16:54 Nope. Nope. Okay, guys. It's going really well. Why doesn't somebody let me know when the actual video is ready instead of it's going through the wrong ones? Okay. So we're going to do that.
Starting point is 00:17:09 We'll come back to it. Hey, it's a preview for the rest of the evening. It's a preview. It's a preview. Okay. Okay. Let's talk about the show called Outlander. The what? You familiar?
Starting point is 00:17:19 Never heard of it. Any good? Yeah, it's pretty good, I hear. Yeah, it's pretty good, I hear. So the Droughtlander has been long. It's been over two years, the longest yet. It has. Talk to me a little bit about the production this time around.
Starting point is 00:17:31 In all seriousness, this was a different kind of experience. Obviously, you guys were shooting, probably pre-vaccines, et cetera. It's a different kind of environment. Did it hinder the enjoyment, the camaraderie that usually share with your friends on set this time? Yeah, I mean, obviously, you know, we were delayed and other productions had started up. But, you know, Outlander is so big. We have, you know, just such big crew and big cast, you know, the extras on set, et cetera, that they just found it pretty impossible.
Starting point is 00:18:01 You know, and they didn't want to, they didn't want to reduce the show. We wanted to keep it the scale that we're used to and accustomed to. So they worked really hard to find a way to keep everyone safe. We built a testing facility at Outlander. So every second day, I think, we all got tested. We were sort of separated into bubbles, I guess. There was a lot of protocols. But ultimately, we got to go back to work.
Starting point is 00:18:27 And I think that was a remarkable achievement from everyone on production. And yeah, and they worked so hard. And, however, it was the height of winter in Scotland. And I know we complained about the weather. You guys have had it here. I mean, clear, you had a lot of snow recently. But it was like that. And it was kind of spooky because we were going to work.
Starting point is 00:18:47 Everyone else was still in lockdown. But to be honest, as soon as you get back on set, you know, it took some negotiating and navigating to work around it and just feel comfortable in these sort of... Because you do, you get this fear inside you a little bit. There's this unsettled feeling. But honestly, I think as soon as we're all back on set, everyone was, you know, you just fall back into the same family, I think, that you're accustomed to. So thematically, I remember when we spoke at the last live event, it was on the eve of the last season.
Starting point is 00:19:15 And you mentioned that that finale would be pretty big and intense. You did not lie. Right. So talk to me a little bit about what we could expect from this season, considering the traumatic events that the last season ended on. What are you enthused about seeing, about the fans seeing? I would like to say it's light and a happy show and there is some light moments
Starting point is 00:19:41 but it's a great season it's shorter we had to reduce the time the number of episodes just due to COVID obviously the protocols and also Katrina you know was very fortunately was pregnant so we only had a short window
Starting point is 00:19:58 before she just couldn't do anything more. But she was brilliant. But having said that, the episodes, some of them are longer. The first episode is feature length. It's an hour and a half. And there are other episodes that are also longer as well. And I think you just get much more time with the characters, much more time to sit. So you see Jamie and Claire, you know, being quite domestic, just enjoying their time together. And then you see the Christie's. And the Christies, if you don't know, oh boy, never invite them around for dinner or a tequila. Sam thought he could scuttle my
Starting point is 00:20:36 plans to show the embarrassing video of him being surprised. But we're going to get... We got it. We'll get back to Outlander in a second, but let's first publicly humiliate Sam. This is him hopefully getting surprised in London. Take a look. Hey guys, here we are in London. We're just a couple hours before the premiere, the season 6 premiere
Starting point is 00:20:58 of Outlander. And we're in this secret location to meet some fans who have won, I believe, a competition to come meet me before the premiere, so I'm really excited to see them and I guess show I'm excited so let's go see them. Hi guys! Sarah! Kara? Kara.
Starting point is 00:21:32 Kara, so... I told you that I do not feel comfortable with this man around me. Now get the fuck out. This is fucking ridiculous. Why do you, like, reduce in height? And also, you wouldn't stop doing this. Well, it was funny. It was very funny.
Starting point is 00:22:14 I'm really petrified that this man is now going to plot to surprise me as vengeance. Oh. Revenge is best served cold. Anyway, there's a lot more of that, so stay tuned. I'll spread the good word. Oh, yeah. Oh, okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:22:34 So back to Outlander, this new season. At this point, is there anything hard about, there are inherent difficulties in every episode? every challenge, every dramatic turn, but like turning Jamie on and off, like what's the hardest part about getting into character? You guys, you can't... I can't say anything to you filthy people!
Starting point is 00:23:00 How do I turn Jamie on? No, no, that's not what I... God, it's not my fault, Sam. It's their fault. Oh, God. How do you get into character at this point? How do you turn Jamie on? I think Diana's written about this.
Starting point is 00:23:13 Diana's written about that. Do you know, we were doing, actually doing the audio book for Klanlands with Graeme McTavish, and I believe I'd written some lines of Jamie Fraser, and I had to do the voice while recording the audio book, and I couldn't do the voice. I was like, what is Jamie's voice? But it's strange, because as soon as you get back on set, you do, you do fall back into it. And there's always a period where we have a read-through. do costume fittings. I mean, we do fittings, you know, a long time in advance. So you're
Starting point is 00:23:48 already planning the story of the costumes and where you're going. I mean, we just had ours for the new season just now. So we're already thinking ahead and you're just thinking, you know, where does the story take you? So by the time you actually get on set, you know, there's been a lot of preparation and that helps. Is there an episode in this coming eight that you're most excited for the fans? Oh, yes. I mean, obviously, some of you may You may have read the books, I think probably most of you have. The Christie's just really messed everything up, and they are troubled. But I think the last two episodes, we had Jamie Payne back, who shot the finale of last season.
Starting point is 00:24:31 And this one is big. The Browns, the Browns come into play. So I know some fans be like, oh, why isn't this season longer? The good news though is, as you just alluded to, you're about to go into production, I think, pretty soon, on the next season, which is going to be the longest, yes. Yeah, yeah, 60 episodes. Yeah, yeah. So, you and Katrina have now been executive producers for a couple seasons now. Has that evolved? Has your participation as an executive producer changed since the first days of it?
Starting point is 00:25:06 Are you, like, what aspects do you enjoy getting your hands dirty with? Yeah, we, I mean, you know, we've been on the show for a while. now and I think just we've always been a great dialogue between ourselves and the writers and the execs and and every department as well but now you know we are involved in the production meetings so we do go sit on the days off and just just go through the whole schedule with everyone and just to be a part of it just to be part of the process of prepping and we can give our opinion on something I mean it could be something really boring is like where are the nearest toilets on location to like you know the
Starting point is 00:25:41 logistics of what scene would be better shot on a certain day because you shoot multiple scenes on a day and like what needs more time. So it's important because other departments are all represented in a production meeting but actually the actors aren't. But I think also just implementing things. I brought on board the intimacy advisor Vanessa Kofi this season. And if you don't know what she does, just in the industry, because of these sort of intimate scenes, It's important that everyone is protected, but also we find a way to sort of, I guess,
Starting point is 00:26:18 explore these scenes and actually maybe get something more out of them. And I think this season, I think we've done an even better job with those kind of scenes because she really helped us, like, understand, like, what are we doing? And how have we build up this relationship, but to take it somewhere else as well? So she's been terrific. I have 40 more questions about the intimate scenes. Good. But actually, even just to protect younger actors,
Starting point is 00:26:44 Cotrini and I got into this in a very different time, and Stars was a different show. I mean, the Stars network was different, but also the industry was different. And so we really didn't know what we were doing. We're just kind of thrown in the deep end and just had to learn through the experience. So I think it's been really great to bring her on board
Starting point is 00:27:03 and to help younger actors or people who are less experienced. So yeah, you may see other, intimate scenes with other people, and it's good for them as well. Has Katrina's talked about wanting to direct an episode? Yeah. Do you have that same aspiration? Are you excited at the prospect of Katrina directing, and would you want to? Can you imagine her directing me or me directing her? I just don't know how that would work.
Starting point is 00:27:27 But yeah, I mean, I know she said that multiple times, and I too would love to direct. But I'm looking at other stuff as well. I think Outlander is such a big show. I would love to, but you need so much prep our directors come on four weeks before and they're in every day all day working on storyboards working on
Starting point is 00:27:48 locations, location scouting and we're on set all the time so it would be really hard for us I think to do that but we'd love to find a way to make it happen I mean maybe instead of focusing all your downtime and mean tweets at me you could think about your directing aspirations
Starting point is 00:28:05 I just can't help it no I get it it's more rewarding It is. It's like instant gratification, yeah. I ran into this. They had a lovely premiere and a party in London, which I was privileged enough to attend. Oh, yeah. You were invited to that as well. Yeah, I snuck in. But I met, I met a friend of yours who came up to me and said, I just want you to know, I love it when you take him down a notch on Twitter. So I am going to keep at you. Who is this? No names. Not going to let you know. A friend of mine, yeah. So he said. Okay. I think we have this, I want to skip guys if you can to the interview with, Katrina because I feel like we should give Katrina a little love tonight.
Starting point is 00:28:41 Yeah, come on. So what you're about to see, you know, Katrina has been obviously raising a child now, has a lot going on. She's been nominated for a bunch of awards for Belfast. If you haven't seen it, check it out. Amazing. And she was able to participate in the premier virtually from L.A.,
Starting point is 00:29:02 and I got a chance to chat with her briefly. What are you doing in London? Look, if they let anybody in around here... I mean, Jesus, can you boys not be apart for five minutes? Katrina, it's so good to see you. It's so good to see you. So, okay, catch up the bands that have in wax. 30 seconds on the clock.
Starting point is 00:29:22 What's happened the first five seasons of Outlander? Let's just get right to it. Oh, God, Josh. It's early here. What's happened? A nurse at the end of the Second World War went on a second honeymoon to Scotland with her husband. husband. She found a standing stone circle. She got transported 200 years back in time alone, met this dashing Highlander. They fell in love. They got married. Colloden and Preston Pans
Starting point is 00:29:49 and all these wars were happening because the Jacobites were fighting the British. They were losing so she got pregnant and he sent her back to protect the baby. She went back for 20 years, became a doctor. Her old husband died. Then she went back to find him. She found him. They fell in love again, then her daughter came back, they all lived happily ever after, except they don't because this is outlander. You took that way more seriously than I thought, you know, it's early, you know. So look, I don't want to make this about me, but I know last time we spoke, you were talking about reading scripts from the new season, season seven, as you read the scripts, does anything
Starting point is 00:30:29 call out as appropriate for Josh Harderwitz? You know, you say that. You say that. And actually, yeah, there's kind of like this Quasimodo character who is, like, trapped in a tower. I mean, you'd be perfect. We'll call your agent. We'll get you to audition, maybe a few times. And, yeah.
Starting point is 00:30:58 I'm going to show our conversation here. I'm doing, of course, I'm doing an event with Sam in New York. Yes. He's a glad in for punishment. He can't get enough with me. So the fans are out there. They're watching this right now. What do they need to know about working with Sam Hewain?
Starting point is 00:31:11 The good, the bad, and the ugly. It's time to tell all. I mean, you know, you have to keep food nearby, because, you know, he gets hangary. The boy gets hungry, very, you know. He's like, if you think of it like kind of like a three-year-old, like lots of fun, likes to run into things, hit things, and he needs snacks every 15 to 20 minutes.
Starting point is 00:31:36 Yes. Yeah, Katrina Balfe everybody. What? I mean, she was very rude to both of us there, to be frank. I think it was very early there. Is it true? This is a bonding thing. I get hungry too, Sam.
Starting point is 00:31:58 No. You don't get hungry? I don't think I get hangary, actually. I don't, because I think Graham McTavish gets hangary, yeah. But I do eat a lot of her snacks, though. She's always got good snacks. What snacks?
Starting point is 00:32:12 Oh, she's into like the healthy stuff, yeah. So, like, you know, hummus and dips and Greek yogurt and things. I don't really know. They're just delicious. I eat them. Good sound bite for the audience at home. All the healthy stuff. You mentioned.
Starting point is 00:32:29 Graham McTavish. You have just spent a lot of quality time with Graham. Maybe too much. It's like spending time with you, Josh. Oh, thanks. Always a pleasure. So, yes, men in kiltz season two. Yes. So you've just spent a few months, as I understand it, in New Zealand. That's right. Talk to me about, I mean, was it just basically like four months of Graham reminding you that he was in The Hobbit?
Starting point is 00:32:56 Like, what's, what went down? Well, I don't know if you've seen season one, but we had such a blast on that, and very early on, we were like, you know, we'd love to take this somewhere else. And initially, we're talking about doing Scotland again. There's a lot of Scotland that we only barely touched on. But at the time with COVID and all the restrictions, and also the period that we, the only gap that we could shoot, which would have been just now or over the winter period, Scotland just was not the right place. You know, there's only a few hours of daylight, really. The weather's pretty bad. So it would have been a very different show.
Starting point is 00:33:33 And then we looked at New Zealand at the time. We thought, you know, it's the perfect place. It's obviously his home right now. He's worked there dressed as someone similar to you. And yeah, it just seemed the right match. And it really was. It was a real challenge for us to get there. But we eventually did it and we've had a really good time.
Starting point is 00:33:54 So I hope you guys are going to enjoy it. I think you will. What's... What's the worst fight you've gotten into with Graham? Is it ever get real? Because it's always playful. How do you know when it's like, oh, wait, I've pushed too far? Yeah, well, so I don't know if you've seen, so season one, I mean, there's a moment he,
Starting point is 00:34:14 I make him go absale off a cliff. And it's not that he's angry, but he's certainly very, very scared. So I thought this season, well, we want to see more of that, right? And then when he refuses to do things, that's when tensions get high. Yeah. Got it. I feel like, so you guys have the books, Clanlands. Yes.
Starting point is 00:34:38 You've got the, yes. You've got the TV show, Men and Kiltz. I feel like the empire is spreading. There's this photo that Sammy, my trusty producer, her dad found outside of Philly. Can I see the men and kiltz photo? This is apparently your new business venture. Yeah, that's us. Is that you?
Starting point is 00:34:56 Yeah. You guys are now doing gutter. cleaning, apparently. It's hard to find a gutter around here, but... What is there... What's a business venture that's been proposed to you? Why did you block out the bit below? I don't want to give them free advertising.
Starting point is 00:35:12 Oh, is that their number? Oh, I see. Okay. Yeah, yeah. What's next? What's the next business venture? We've got all the spirits. We've got the books.
Starting point is 00:35:20 We've got the TV show. You're like Oprah over here. What is coming up next? One for you. One for you. I mean, did you always have that kind of entrepreneurial spirit, like growing up? Is that something you discovered? I think it's honestly, you know, working on the show, which is amazing, and just getting
Starting point is 00:35:39 all these opportunities. And I think I just realized that there are other avenues to explore. And I know and I hope they do well, but it's a great sort of creative outlet, I think. And I really enjoy these sort of side projects. I mean, there's a lot going on. But yeah, I mean, why not? Why not go for it? Will there be another book to go along with the new season?
Starting point is 00:36:02 With the new season, possibly. I mean, you've done, what was the last? So you did the Clanlands? Then there was the Clanlands, like Almanac, right? Yeah, yeah. Powering book next? What's next? What are you doing?
Starting point is 00:36:13 No, I'm actually doing a book for myself. Oh. Yeah. I do have a co-writer, but we've been working on something for a while. and it's based on a sort of biography meets an adventure that I undertook at the end of October last year. Yeah, yeah. Breaking news, this is exciting.
Starting point is 00:36:36 Yeah, it's a lot of fun. Very cool, okay. All right, so you obviously have these very important relationships in your life, professional relationships that are also personal. Graham, Katrina, me. Well, that's debatable. Okay, so of the three of us, yes.
Starting point is 00:36:52 Who would you rather, I'm going to give you a few, scenarios. Graham, Katrina, or me. Who would you rather go to an amusement park with? Oh, I think it has to be Graham, right? I mean, because he's terrified. And he screams a lot. Yeah, I mean, he's absolutely terrified. So I'd love to get him on, you know, the roller coaster and all those. Go to the movies with. Go to the movies. Probably Katrina, because I'd have a good talk. You would talk too much. I respect the art form I'm quiet and you'd want to share my popcorn it's a metaphor um okay uh what you guys you guys really need to get out of that yeah wow you guys
Starting point is 00:37:42 would you rather go to space with going on the space so spending a lot of time with someone in a confined space yeah there's no there's no there's no good answer here there's no it's good it's gonna be it's gotta be Graham because I've done that before right it's fair that's fair so you haven't got any of these yet no I'm fine come on there must be one there drinking no that's not gonna be me no not you I'll be Katrina she's great yeah yeah spend the night in jail with no actually yes you yeah because I you've done it you've done it because I could blame whatever crime it was on you right right or
Starting point is 00:38:24 Right. If I'm about to get attacked in the jail. A human shield, yeah. See? Cool. Super cool. Thanks, dude. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:38:37 Well, I was going to promote your upcoming projects, but now I'm not feeling like it. Oh, sure. We're just going to sit here in silence. Yeah. I'm just going to sit and stew. You do have some cool stuff coming up. Do we know when text for you is coming? What's the plan?
Starting point is 00:38:51 You, Priyanka Choper Jonas. I don't know exactly. exactly when it's at. We have one scene left to shoot, which is interesting. I don't know what it's going to happen. But no, it's something that they're just looking at maybe doing. But I know that I've seen the movie. I really enjoyed it. I think Priyanka is, she's honestly so beautiful. She's so fun. She's such a nice person. So I had a really good time on that. And of course, Celine Dionne, it's her acting debut. And she's brilliant. She's really funny.
Starting point is 00:39:25 Do you have, like, kind of like, I mean, I haven't seen the movie, so I don't know exactly, but do you have, like, a romantic comedy slash drama that's, like, your go-to? Like, is it, like, the Notting Hill of Actually kind of thing, or old school, or newer? What jumps to mind when you think of that genre? Of this movie? Yeah. Oh, this is a little bit sleepless in Seattle, sliding doors, and, like, Notting Hill. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:39:52 Okay. Yeah. Okay. It's definitely based on sort of Nora Ephron kind of vibe. Love it. Probably not Nora Ephron-esque is suspect. Yes. Not a little laughs in that. But it sounds cool.
Starting point is 00:40:06 You shot this already, yes? Shot this. It's a channel four drama in the UK. It's an incredible ensemble. It's eight-part drama. Every episode is a two-hander. So there's basically two actors throughout the whole thing. And each one is based on a conversation.
Starting point is 00:40:23 It's about a police officer whose daughter has committed suicide, but he believes that she was maybe possibly murdered. And everyone is obviously a suspect. We have Richard E. Grant, Jolie Richardson, Anne Re Duff, Nevalgar, myself. The cast is incredible. And I believe they've really enjoyed it, Channel 4. They love it. So I think it might be out early this year.
Starting point is 00:40:47 Oh, great. In a month or so, yeah. Oh, another excuse to catch up. Yeah, I'm excited. Everest, I hear, is not happening. Thanks, thanks, Josh. Are you still going to climb Everest just for fun? When am I supposed to do that?
Starting point is 00:41:04 Okay, we'll move past that. What's the kind of role that is not being offered to you that you want to put out into the universe? Like, what are they not? What did you say? I heard, you know, we heard the James Bond thing. Oh, James Bond. Oh. But is there a kind of thing that you're not thought of that you wish?
Starting point is 00:41:23 I mean, you obviously had like the spy comedy thing, which was kind of like a new kind of thing for you. What's left to conquer for you that people are not thinking of you for, you think? Oh, yeah. I'm not sure. I mean, we do get offered things or we have conversations about things, but it's just obviously always trying to find a time where I can go and do it. And Outlander is such a commitment, so it is hard.
Starting point is 00:41:48 there's some stuff I've been trying to develop my own things as well which has been kind of really interesting and I don't know as going back to directing that might be where I go to next or theater actually I can keep thinking about that and there might be a part in there for you
Starting point is 00:42:08 don't even the hunchback musical what are you doing what's how did you know I get it I've been asking folks in the podcast the last a couple of years for comfort movies. And I always find that very revealing.
Starting point is 00:42:21 I feel like I love to talk about movies that people grew up with that they returned to. What was yours? I have two. I mean, one of them, you brought up two. We're not going to go into depth on one of them, but back to the future you bring up is definitely one for me.
Starting point is 00:42:35 But you brought up another one that I do want to bring up. You brought up an Indiana Jones film. Yeah. And a particular one. Why did you select what you selected? Tell us your Indiana Jones pick. Well, it's the best one. Wow.
Starting point is 00:42:46 I don't know about that, but tell us. What is it? So, yeah, I mean, I love Indiana Jones movies. They were always on British TV, like around wintertime. And I guess they're fun and entertaining. And I always felt as a young, as a child, like, oh, I shouldn't be watching this, but my mom allowed me to watch it. Because there's a lot that happens.
Starting point is 00:43:08 I mean, people, like, dying in grotesque ways, and there's, you know, eating weird stuff, and there's Nazis. And it's just, it's completely mad. But the Last Crusade is just phenomenal, I think. Is it the Sean Connery thing? What's going on? You have Sean Connery playing his dad. You've got Wacky, you've got Phoenix, River Phoenix, thank you, playing a young Indiana.
Starting point is 00:43:35 You've got sort of the origin of how Indiana, you know, got all his trappings. It's just such a riot. And then the sort of holy grail aspect of it, I just love. It's such a good movie. Have you ever been in the same room, interacted with Harrison Ford or Steven Spielberg? Oh, Harrison, you have? Oh, I have.
Starting point is 00:43:54 I met Harrison, yeah. I think it was my first Golden Globes, and we were at an after party in Los Angeles, and, you know, I'd had a few tequila. And we were in this sort of Italian restaurant, and he was there sitting at the bar, and he had just, like, stud in his ear. And I went up to him, and all I could say was like,
Starting point is 00:44:13 I'm a big fan, sir. And he went, thank you, kid. It's kind of all you want, right? Indiana. It belongs in a museum. I love it. Asps, very dangerous. You go first.
Starting point is 00:44:34 I mean, that's Raiders. Is that Salah? Sala, yeah. Yeah, I love Sala. I mean, we could do three hours. Tony Rismar. Yeah, Dr. Smyr's, yeah, yeah. Awesome.
Starting point is 00:44:44 Have you been watching much lately? or, no, you've been in New Zealand. I have to admit, I've been really terrible. I haven't been able to watch my... We were literally on the road in New Zealand, well, obviously, after my quarantine, which was fun. But I binged in the quarantine,
Starting point is 00:45:00 I binged the White Lotus, which I really... So good, right? Oh, my God, so good. Let's go to... I know you guys have some questions. I'm going to take some of your questions. At first, our loyal, happy, Happy Second, Fused, Patreon audience,
Starting point is 00:45:14 sent in some questions, love to them. Christine wants to know you've literally been around the world the past couple months. How do you handle jet lag? Any tips? No.
Starting point is 00:45:28 Are we witnessing jet lag right now? You're seeing it. So I flew in, it was 30 hours flying, which, look, hey, it's okay, when you're a business, okay? It's not that bad. But the last like 10 hours,
Starting point is 00:45:45 you're just like, Oh, my God. And then you stop in Kuala Lumpur. And I'm always like, where is that? It's fascinating. And then Dubai. And I'm not there yet. And then I've obviously got to London.
Starting point is 00:45:59 But it was, yeah, it was a long flight. But for jet lag, no, I'm not really sure. It's because we're about to go to Los Angeles next week. And then I'll briefly go to Kansas and then we're back to the UK. So it is a lot of flying, yeah. Do you think you'll go back to Scotland for, if you get to do another season? of men and kilts or is the intent now to travel the world? I guess you have to wait to see, but I definitely know what I want to do.
Starting point is 00:46:23 Yeah. Okay. And we've actually, well, maybe. Keep drinking your tequila. We maybe. We maybe had a little conversation. Susan wants to know. Congratulations on the first winner of your Right Start Commission at RCS.
Starting point is 00:46:39 Oh, thank you. What inspired you to start the commission and scholarship program at your former drama school? Yeah. So thank you for asking. My former drama school, I decided to create a scholarship for two students to, I guess, pay their fees throughout their years at drama school. But also I created the right start competition, which is just to encourage all students there to maybe think a little bit outside of the box. I just noticed that in my career it's not just acting. there is all these other opportunities
Starting point is 00:47:12 or creating your own work and especially during COVID but also when you are an unemployed actor and you're just kind of sitting waiting for the phone to ring which was a long time for me you have to start making your own work and also collaborate with other people and the competition winners
Starting point is 00:47:31 on the inaugural year this year is a really interesting story by some filmmakers who want to do a play but it's all set in a nuclear submarine. And I think right now, obviously, oh, you know, it's very topical. So, yeah, so congratulations to them. Who was, yeah.
Starting point is 00:47:53 When you think back to your early days, like who was the most influential, important person, like in your early days before you kind of, like, got your big breaks early on, that, I don't know, showed confidence in you that said you have something special? Was there a teacher or a fellow actor that really boosted your confidence?
Starting point is 00:48:11 My first year at drama school, my acting coach took me to one side after my first term and said, you can't act. Oh, never mind. And I thought, and I'll just continue that. But, you know, it was a classical drama school, and it kind of whole part of this process is like breaking you down.
Starting point is 00:48:31 But I think that was always also kind of true. It was about confidence and, you know, at drama school, that's what it's for it's to fail as well so but yeah and I it was actually my first play I did out of drama school and the theater director there he just he taught me a lot do you find it's like important to like reflect back often on the early struggles even when you're succeeding I mean I would think that like you know that teaches you humility and gives you perspective you know as you progress in your career I mean it's it's important to kind of stay grounded I know you're like
Starting point is 00:49:05 obviously turned into a big asshole but generally Yeah. I was halfway through an earnest question. I was like, I can't do it. I can't do it. I can't do it. No, but seriously, do you like think back to the early days when you're kind of like in these surreal moments.
Starting point is 00:49:23 Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, I know, because we've been doing Outlander for a long time. And even before that, I saw some friends in London at the premiere. I invited them along and we were talking about things that we'd done in the past. I was like, I can't even remember these. It was so far, so long ago. But, yeah, I mean, we've been doing the show for so long now. You can't help but look back and where we've come from.
Starting point is 00:49:46 Even going to work every day on Outlander. You know, when we started, we were very green. And it was literally an abandoned warehouse where we filmed. There were like rats and dust, and it was just rubbish. And now we've got this amazing facility. So, yeah, it's great to be able to look back and see how far we've gone. Were you a good auditioner? Did you enjoy that?
Starting point is 00:50:08 I talked to actors that relished it because it was an opportunity to act, and I've talked to actors that hated it with every fiber of your... Terrible, absolutely terrible. I went so many years of trying to, like... So my first thing I thought was, I saw these other famous actors.
Starting point is 00:50:23 I would see Tom Ellis. I'd see Eddie Redmayne. I'd see these people going in, and they'd kind of walk in, and they knew the casting direction, they'd hug them, and they'd have a coffee, and they're like, oh, yeah, just come off the street,
Starting point is 00:50:35 and everything's cool. So I started always, buying a coffee to go in with me. Like, I'm just like, oh, yeah, this, oh, just had a coffee, you know. But then I'd go in and I'd be too high on caffeine and adrenaline. And one time I remember I had, I was one of my first auditions
Starting point is 00:50:54 in LA and my manager, I was up for like a surfer guy, I think. And so he took me to the beach and made me get in the sea. And then I went to my addition, like my, what do you call, flip-flops? And I went in and I'm like taking them off in the audition. And I think the cast and director was just like, what the smelling of fish? What are you doing? Wow, I'm sorry to, yeah, you went to the dark place.
Starting point is 00:51:25 Yeah. It was not good. I think there's like a mysterious pile of audience questions perhaps. Thank you. Oh. Amazing. Thanks so much. You guys wrote these in the dark.
Starting point is 00:51:36 Well done. Let's see what we got here, guys. First whiskey, then tequila. What's next, Sam? A good night. Is there a whiskey mood and a tequila mood? What's the mood for each? Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:52:01 No, I mean, I think people say, you know, tequila's an opera, but I'm not sure if that's, true or not, but this one, this one is a sipper, I would say. You know, it is definitely something that you can just sit and enjoy and, uh, it's delicious. No, I'm very excited. With good friends or people you don't know at all. It brings people together. I'm excited for my... Doesn't it, Jerry? Look, just send me a case. You can call me whatever you like. I don't care. Um, what three items would you put into a time? capsule that represents Jamie and or Sam Hewain. I believe that's from Karen, a peeker,
Starting point is 00:52:44 a Long Island Peaker. Got some peekers out there, I assume, yes. Wow. Wow, that's a good one. Three items that represent Jamie. Probably, probably Jamie's, either his kilt or probably his costume, Let's say that. His kilt, from season one kilt, his boots, maybe his dirk, because I'm still trying to steal that from set. I will get that dirt. And maybe something from my childhood, probably weirdly a copy of Lord of the Rings. Yeah, my family, they own these copies and they're like really thick. They look like they're made in the 1900s and really, really thin. paper and then beautifully embossed. So one of them. And then maybe, I guess, a bottle of whiskey, right? There you go.
Starting point is 00:53:42 Just stay on brand. Did you visit, like, the whole, or the Rings thing in the museum? We may have done something to do with that. Might be. I mean, it's Gray McTavish, so he will, of course, wax lyrical about. I don't know if I've asked you,
Starting point is 00:54:03 did you ever go up for either, timing wise? for War the Rings or Hobbit. Yeah, I did. Yeah. I met Peter Jackson. I auditioned initially for an elf. Why do you laugh?
Starting point is 00:54:17 No, no. It'd be a good elf. You would have been an awesome elf. What, do you think I'd be better at an or something? Or like a... I didn't say anything. So just stop. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:54:28 I could start making dwarf jokes, but I'm not... I did. I met Peter Jackson. And it was for a character who then I... I believe became Arwin, I think. But yeah, initially it was this elf warrior. And it was something like, you know, orcs have been seeing crossing the past.
Starting point is 00:54:46 And you're just like, wow, this is cool. But no, unfortunately, didn't get the part. Well, that was an emotional roller coaster. We just went on together. I would love to. So they've obviously just shot the new Lord of the Rings show in New Zealand as well. And we met some of the people who had been working on that.
Starting point is 00:55:04 And I'm really excited for them. to see that show as well. I mean, it's a big show. This is why I like, begrudgingly, Mr. Sam Yun. He's a big old dork like me. He just hides it. I know. You like your Batman and your Dune and all that stuff?
Starting point is 00:55:19 Oh, yeah. So, I mean, excited for the new Batman movie. I can't wait. It looks so good. And I haven't seen, I started watching June on the plane over here. And I said, no, I have to watch this at home on a big screen. Like, I just was like, no, I'm going to save this.
Starting point is 00:55:35 It's going to be good. Did you keep your Batman costume from your illustrious musical? Do you have the cowl or anything? I have the cowl, yeah. Do you really? I do, yeah. Yeah, it sits on my wardrobe. It's really difficult to get on and off.
Starting point is 00:55:49 Not that I wear it. Just on a weekend or anything. It would be weird, right? Batman coming to set, guys. Let Sam do his thing. he'll take it off eventually Bet Sam
Starting point is 00:56:09 Rachel wants to know what your dream role is after Outlander ends and we alluded to kind of like different kinds of roles but is there a specific role you have in mind or long career? It's always a hard question
Starting point is 00:56:24 because you're like well I guess you haven't you know there are probably roles that haven't been even created yet but I mean as I said earlier you know theater would be great and I mean I would love to have stab at Hamlet at some point. I think that would be a pretty cool, challenging role, yeah.
Starting point is 00:56:43 Holly says, I'm marrying a Scott next year from Glasgow. Yes, Holly. Brilliant. We all invited. It's a big wedding. Very quiet. Any cultural tips to keep in mind besides keeping whiskey in the house for myself. Well, congratulations, and I guess are you... Oh. It's Holly! Holly, everybody. Have a great wedding and enjoy it.
Starting point is 00:57:16 And I hope you guys have a Kaylee on the wedding night. It's a lot of fun. It's a Scottish dance, if you don't know. I mean, you could make up any word, and it would be like, yeah, okay. Sure. Karen wants another Long Island Peaker by the way
Starting point is 00:57:36 Karen Sam is in New York often has Josh ever invited him to his home for dinner and a home-cooked meal I should really read these before I say them out loud I met your wife
Starting point is 00:57:57 you did has a wine what does that mean and she's a normal good human being she's normal yeah she's lovely well
Starting point is 00:58:09 you're lovely very patient um she's very patient you are hereby invited into my home for a home yeah I'm invited
Starting point is 00:58:18 you just say I'm invited you're invited this is like inviting Dracula into your home you know it's like you're not supposed to do this really and what are we having for dinner what would you like
Starting point is 00:58:27 I can't so this is gonna be a shitty night for you. Oh, wow. But we'll let her in, okay? Okay. Okay. We're getting the naked bagel guy? No, it's not a...
Starting point is 00:58:37 Sounds like a knife... Wow. No. No. There are bagels. Yeah. Totally separate from the naked cowboy. Literally nothing to do with each other.
Starting point is 00:58:53 Okay. Okay. After this, we're all going to do with each other. Okay. to Times Square together and we're going to visit the Naked Cowboys. That's a good idea. How did they get the hole in the bagel? We were talking in the beginning about running out of things to talk about.
Starting point is 00:59:12 This is where we ended up. I just... It's a miracle. It's not a Scottish thing. It's one of life's miracles. Karen wrote two. We're going to give Karen a little love here. Karen, you're great.
Starting point is 00:59:28 Karen, you can come up here when I'm done. What game show reality show do you think you could win if you went on it? Do you watch reality shows? Do you watch many games shows? Yeah, I mean, I'm a huge documentary fan. I love documentaries, but a reality game show. Right, Survivor, Amazing Race? Survivor would be, yeah, I love, oh, I have to say, I do.
Starting point is 00:59:52 I love naked and afraid. That is rough. That's rough, isn't it? But I would not do it with you. That would be awful. I wouldn't do it with me either, trust me. Don't worry, it's okay. Where would we be sent?
Starting point is 01:00:20 It would be somewhere really awful. Yeah, it's one of my favorites. Do you ever been to a nude beach? What? Nood beach. Where do you stand in nude beach? No, have you ever been, I didn't realize, there's new, you just hotels. Really?
Starting point is 01:00:33 Yeah. There's a lot of them in New Jersey. Look at your, I haven't been looking. Look at your search history on your, on your browser. Yeah, yeah. There are obviously other hotels available, the Hedonism Hotel. Why do I know so much about... Keep talking. Go good.
Starting point is 01:01:02 It's fascinating. Well... Imagine you're checking in. Well, this is my first and last event at the 92nd Street Y. Thank you. Obviously elevating the conversation. Yeah, exactly. If you could be in any movie with Josh Horowitz, what movie would it be?
Starting point is 01:01:20 I did not write. That's not my handwriting. What is it called, like, three children and it? What is it? Three men and a baby? Is that what you're saying? We could raise a child together. That would be fun. Or twins.
Starting point is 01:01:37 Yeah. You like that's another quasi-modo joke, to be honest, but whatever. Hey, that's not so bad. Oh, no, it's fine, it's fine. What is your favorite place in Scotland? Also, your shoes are awesome. Or was that for you?
Starting point is 01:02:01 No, no, that's all you. But we mentioned how that we did almost come dressed as each other. Yeah, I'm really upset about that, to be honest. Because it does me no favors. Mine's reversible. That's great. It's lovely. It's very stylish.
Starting point is 01:02:13 Favorite place in Scotland? What was the question? Favorite place in Scotland? Yes. Favorite place in Scotland? Well, I think we've said it a little bit before, and it's in the book as well, but I love going to the islands. I love getting a ferry, and there are a lot of little ferries. I think we've got five ferries on the first men in kiltz.
Starting point is 01:02:31 So you're crossing all these tiny little islands. And they're just amazing, because each one has its own kind of identity. And Lewis, where the Kalanish stones are, is just incredible. We've got Harris there as well, which is very beautiful. But yeah, there are no trees, pretty much, on Lewis, because it's so windy. I don't know if it was the tequila, but I thought you were talking about, like, magical fairies for a second. I was sorry. Oh, Ferris.
Starting point is 01:02:58 Yeah. I thought of Ferris. Yeah. That sounds awesome. That was a lot of tequila. My mom is watching this, by the way. Hi, Mom. What is Jamie Fraser taught you?
Starting point is 01:03:23 No. What is Jamie Fraser taught you? you. Anya wants to know that. What does Jamie Fraser taught you? Jamie has taught me, he's taught me a lot of things for the industry, I think, you know, for working in a TV show, for being a lead in a show, for, I don't know, like, personally, that's a really tough one.
Starting point is 01:03:46 I don't think I'll ever know until I finish the show, if that makes any sense, because it's really hard to look outside when you're in it. And I do look back, but I think once it is all over, whenever that is, I think when I look back, it's going to be really sad to say goodbye. I can feel that, and it's going to be, but it's been a huge part of my life, so I will have a lot to thank Jamie for. Do you think you'll, you'll, like, know when the time is right? Like, what's, is it going to be in your gut? I would imagine it's going to be a collective decision between all the creators and you and Katrina, et cetera. it's a conversation that people have started having I think you know in the press as well you know I think it's just we've been doing it for no I love just the gutterall instinctual no
Starting point is 01:04:32 all right but everything comes to an end and I know Diana's writing the end and I think you know so it's interesting to see where we are now and just just we know where the journey is going but yeah I mean God it's been such a journey so yeah we are Obviously, you just have to start thinking about it. We have to start planning. Are you involved at all with the conversations about, I guess they just announced they were going to do a prequel series? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:04:57 Do you know what's in store, how that relates to? I know only a tiny bit more. I knew it was in the wings. I knew that it was happening. I didn't realize it was so far advanced. So I saw Diane, obviously, this weekend, and I think she was writing furiously, and I know that they're really excited.
Starting point is 01:05:14 So, yeah, I'm excited for them, and I'm slightly jealous as well. I wonder if I could get in that. I've been trying to get in your show for like five years. Yeah, this is it. Here's your opportunity. Hi, Dad. No.
Starting point is 01:05:31 No. I need a scene with you. I don't want to, you know, come on. Well, do I have to play a child then? Yes. Yes, they're going to shrink you down. Finally, you'll be shorter than me. Finally.
Starting point is 01:05:44 Seed your highly shorter. Yeah. So next is. is season seven of Outlander and where are you guys shooting? Can you say where you're doing the next? Next is, yeah, so we have the rest of this press tour and then we'll go
Starting point is 01:05:59 back to work and yeah, we're obviously shooting in Scotland. And I don't really know anything more about it. Can't say anything more about it. I don't know. Our time is up. Let's have another sip. What? Is that it, Judge?
Starting point is 01:06:19 Have you not got any more funny videos for us to watch? Did we run all the videos? We did. I think we ran all the funny videos. But here's the good news. Here's the, well, I don't know what that was. But, um, first of all, Outlander season six. Yes.
Starting point is 01:06:34 It's days away. Come on. Did you enjoy it? Of course I enjoyed. I enjoyed, honestly, this trip to, it was my first international trip in two years. Seeing this guy, surprising this guy, being a part of that premiere was amazing. We also got a ton of really fun stuff on the carpet. We drank a bunch of whiskey.
Starting point is 01:06:52 That's going to be coming your way soon, so I'm going to share that with all you guys in the coming weeks. I got to meet some of your castmates finally that you've been keeping from me for years. Yeah, I think they said that's the last time they do that. No, no. And you met some new cast as well. I did, I did.
Starting point is 01:07:09 So I want to plug this delicious. Honestly, this tequila is awesome. Congratulations on that. Everybody, I have a bunch of people to thank. I want to thank the Ninety Second Street Y for being such great hosts. I want to thank my buddy, Sammy, however, as always, for producing and helping me with this stuff. Yes, Sammy. I want to thank you guys for coming out and bringing all this great energy.
Starting point is 01:07:38 And I want to thank the great, the one and only, the brilliance, Sam Hubert. Oh, come on. Give it up. Oh, thank you, Thanks, everybody. Go on. Thank you. Thank you.
Starting point is 01:07:59 And so ends another edition of happy, sad, confused. Remember to review, rate, and subscribe to this show on iTunes, or wherever you get your podcasts.
