Starting point is 00:00:21 Hello, welcome. It's Hardlore Time. How you doing, Bo? I'm doing okay. I'm a little sick. We don't talk about that anymore, right? You know what, it's fucking sick? Manscaped. What's Manscape is so... Super sick. Sounds so sexy. We're not going to give you the whole spiel this time. You heard it last week.
Starting point is 00:00:45 But we love Manscaped. My balls will thank you. Your balls will thank me for smelling so good. our balls will be Your balls will say Colin I smell so good and I'll say I know And feel so supported That I do kind of like now
Starting point is 00:01:03 I'm more on board after I washed them So see I mean it's I'm happy to say I hate to scold you on the program Waring underwear without washing them is insane Yeah But I don't have a washer dryer until today
Starting point is 00:01:20 but you have to remember it's not always an option. Congrats, man. Anyway. But straight from the factory to your living, to your bedroom is not ideal, you know. Straight to your balls, dude. Then you really need to be. Yeah, no, it's not ideal. So wash your underwear, wash your balls, use Manscape.
Starting point is 00:01:41 Code Hardlaw, 20% off. Free shipping. Yes. Helps us out. Oh my God, does it help us out? I think we've reached the like minimum orders needed for them. to be like, okay, these guys are cool. But every single one, every single order made
Starting point is 00:01:57 secures our long-term relationship with Mr. and Mrs. Manscaped. And helps us do stuff that I think you guys would want us to do, really, if you think about it, go to certain fest and afford certain things. Wash our balls, you know. All right. Let's talk. Today's episode is about FYA Fest. Can you believe what what what what what Robert Thomas Wilson the fifth has done here?
Starting point is 00:02:26 I really can't it was a really good time I had a good space. Yeah it was a good vibe. The lineup was crazy people were excited Bob talked to a few people. It seemed like merch like merch purchases were really good. It's all the merch is merchants. You remember the era where it was like oh they're a merch band because they were were like good and people like them.
Starting point is 00:02:51 Yeah. Like that was a term because people wanted to wear a t-shirt. What is like a definitive merch band? I would just smirch someone. I'm not going to be smirch them because I'm sure this is not, and would not be considered an affront to them. But Cold World is like the goat merch band, you know? We're like they've never had an online store because they know that if they make
Starting point is 00:03:17 something at a show, it's gone in 30 seconds, which is that's what you aspire to be. Yeah. And they didn't, like, tour all that much over the years. They're eating their stuff. They are the, like, prime example of kind of the modern day goal as a band. Like, doing the incendiary technique, the God's sake technique of, like, hey, we're not going to tour. So we're going to, when we can play these fest, that's one.
Starting point is 00:03:48 you can see us. Pretty cool. So thanks, Cold War. Pretty damn cool. For paving the way. Thank you. So let's see.
Starting point is 00:03:57 I got the lineup. Let's go from the rip, dude. I saw you the night before the fest. Oh, dude. Good call. Where did we go straight to? Your first time.
Starting point is 00:04:06 Oh, Texas Roadhouse. Texas Roadhouse. People, okay, I got to go on a little tangent. People will say that Texas Roadhouse is not that good. Okay? And by people.
Starting point is 00:04:18 I mean one bully And here's the thing Texas Roadhouse is not a Ruth's Chris And not a fucking Morton's Yeah it's not It doesn't pretend to be What it is is a place where you can get a pretty damn good steak And some rolls
Starting point is 00:04:36 And some really bad sides I would go as far as to say It's a place where you can get some rolls You know I went for the roll You are you're so foolishly You said that your steak was good. I liked the steak, but I like Waffle House steak, you know? Oh, well, yeah. So, but yeah,
Starting point is 00:04:56 okay. I love a 1299 piece of meat, you know, prepared by, but what I'm saying, prepared in malice by a hateful man, you know, but the, the roles. Would you rather have, would you rather pay $20 for the steak from Waffle House or $20 for the steak from Texas Roadhouse? 20, Texas Rodehouse, 100%. Yeah, okay. I could taste the butcher's ass. No longer for shit. All right. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:22 Yeah. I could taste the cow. I loved that. The rolls were where you had me. Yeah. The cinnamon butter is great. Coke products rocks. The sides aren't that good.
Starting point is 00:05:35 The sides were like below KFC tier, I will say. Yeah. Texas Roadhouse and then there were beans in the chili. Suck my dick. Fuck you. Not you. And then we went to Culver's for the first time. Now Culver's.
Starting point is 00:05:53 Say no more. Big fan. Of the dessert specifically. The burger was like enhanced Wendy's, I would call it. It's like a better Wendy's with like some sheets style sides. What are you doing over there? What's going on with your arms? Nothing.
Starting point is 00:06:15 Okay. You were adjusting for a really long time. You were doing the. fucking. I was doing the macarena. I was rolling up my sleeves. Oh, okay. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:06:24 Don't perceive me. I'm sorry. I didn't, that wasn't me perceiving anything about you. It was just you were doing an act during the broadcast program, you know? Most people are listening and not watching Colin, which now they know. And I hope that if I'm picking my nose or something, you would be like, why are you picking your nose in the show? And I'll say, because it's my show, Beau.
Starting point is 00:06:46 So that's what you say to me. All right. Well, then leave me the fuck alone. No, just say it back. Dance if I want to dance. We got cookie dough and hot fudge cement mixers. Can you believe a hot fudge?
Starting point is 00:06:58 No, you know, the McDonald's soft serve hot fudge Sunday is like the actual goat. But they never, like, you can't make it for you nine out of ten times. Yeah, I know, I know. But think about that hot fudge when you, in the little, I know, the little like scoop. Gorgeous, just gorgeous. Then we went to the Hard Rock Casino. And Beau had a great night. I had a pretty good night.
Starting point is 00:07:25 You had a good night. I didn't lose. To me, as an amateur professional gambler, if you don't lose, you win, you know. And then I got a little bit. I was down to everything. My life savings. Didn't you double what you took out?
Starting point is 00:07:41 I ended up doubling what I took out. But before that, that's pretty damn good. It was like, I was down to a spin. You know, I was, It helps calculating the damage done. I watched Colin and Sam, John, and a few friends playing slot machines. I never play slots ever because you don't, when you look at a slot machine as like a total amateur, a total beginner, you don't think of them as like, well, odds.
Starting point is 00:08:11 Yeah. You're not thinking about that. You're just thinking rigged. You know what I mean? Like you assume no one's going to win off this. but there are certain machines that have bonuses and then there are situations where you can get a bonus within a bonus.
Starting point is 00:08:23 The bonus and the bonus is what every person should aspire to be in life, you know? So I watched Sam Triple B win on Eureka. Eureka Blast. What's the like name? Eureka Blast. Lockett Link presents Eureka Blast. So I watched him win and I was like,
Starting point is 00:08:42 oh, that seems kind of fun. And he got a bonus within a bonus, like really quickly. And see, that doesn't, that what happened to both of you does not happen. It's a rare feat. So the fact that two guys in one night on the same machine happened to, we're talking one and a billion odds here. So I only had $100 on me. I put it all in on this machine, like two hours after Sam on it. First spin, nothing.
Starting point is 00:09:10 Second spin, I won $900. They were $10 a spin. It was It was really And then we got the fucker Yeah, we did I had a little huff and puff Downstere.
Starting point is 00:09:23 Oh you, yeah, then you went, what was the huff and puff? Huff and more puff, it's called. It's a new version of huff and puff A classic locket link. One of the most volatile slots
Starting point is 00:09:33 there ever was. Poor Sam Yarmouth on the diamond queen. Oh my God. Oh, that was brutal. But the diamond queen It never happened once. No, she taketh mostly.
Starting point is 00:09:45 But when she give it. She's very generous. She tooketh bad. She tooketh for Sam to the cleaners. Then we're, then next day we're at, we're at the show. We're at the show now. Yeah, we went home.
Starting point is 00:09:59 We slept a little late. Yeah. Got to the show. Got an amazing room, which like all jokes aside, we have to thank Bob for because that was like literally perfect. Oh, the room?
Starting point is 00:10:13 Yeah. Maybe the best. ideal ever yeah it had a bathroom yeah it did and in a in a in a desert it was in a desert oasis with that bathroom you know yeah did you go into the the normal bathroom at all i did rough that's i mean that's i played last year and that's where i'd be shooting oh right of course the scratch yeah um who did we see first should i pull up well i'll tell you who we saw first was buddy brew the coffee place down the street Oh, that's true
Starting point is 00:10:46 That place was good All days, I liked it Love me some buddy brew The pickled tomato Are you fucking joking me? Oh yeah, you got that sandwich I just got Bougy avocado toast
Starting point is 00:10:59 Because I'm a millennial Because you'll never be a homeowner You got some avocado toast Because I'll never be home with That's the rules They got me pegged Um Let me pull up the
Starting point is 00:11:13 The old line up here I don't think this is an order. Oh, it is. It is cool. Should I? Bob Wilson. Let's talk about Bob Wilson for a second. Let's talk about Bob Wilson.
Starting point is 00:11:25 This man is a multi, multi front man. You know, he's sang in many bands. One of the biggest most controversial figures in the history of front men, you know. He was a bad boy. He was a naughty boy in his day. Letdown, started with Letdown, Mother of Mercy, Malice of the Palace, he started to clean up his act a little bit. But Letdown era, this man was slapping beers out of people's hands,
Starting point is 00:11:54 busting bass heads, and now look at him. He's booking life of agony. He's selling out. Nine years in a row selling out the venue. Saw him jump off a speaker stack once somewhere in, like, Ohio. And it was so scary. There were not enough people to be doing, to be behaving. Yeah, just figured it'd fucking jump off, dude.
Starting point is 00:12:16 Weren't a fucking people, but I'm fucking crazy, dude. Bob Wilson did it again. Great job, Bob Wilson joint. And it was a really good time. Oh, we didn't, you know, I thought we missed a lot of bands, and I felt bad about it. We only missed one band by the time we got there. The first day? I believe, yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:38 Yeah. Because this looks like it's in order from bottom to top. That was the most Bob Wilson-esque part of the. thing was walking into the venue, this huge venue, and on these beautiful HD TVs is the iPhone notes app set times. Bob, next year, just hit me up like a day in advance. I'll make you a beautiful little set time thing. But no, you know what? Don't change the thing. It was perfect. I loved it. Rickage. All right. No, yeah. We still, we only miss one band. And I'm sorry to say statement of pride. We got there a little too late. It was our fault.
Starting point is 00:13:15 And we missed it. But so I had never been to that venue before. And it's like, obviously I saw pictures last year. I love the video of you. Bro, you know that's an alphabetical order, right? Oh, the alphabet goes L-F-B-P-S-C. It's headliners and then alphabetical order. Okay.
Starting point is 00:13:40 So I hadn't been there. And the venue on pictures, I didn't realize how big it was. It's a big group. It's a big room. It's a very, like. large room. To be able to sell that out and fill that is pretty impressive. In Tampa, Florida, dude.
Starting point is 00:13:55 In Tampa, Florida, yeah. It's funny to think, I was explaining this to Sean, our videographer, genius, Scorsese. Scorsese, Arnovsky, et cetera. That California is a place where, we've said this before, California is a place where multiple tours
Starting point is 00:14:15 can happen on the same day and shows more or less won't really be affected because there's so many people, so many different cities, scenes, whatever, blah. Florida is pretty similar, actually, in that there's, like, a lot of cities, and obviously most bands would prefer to join tours. So, like, it's a different ratio, and it's fucking huge, but, like, there's still an abundance of people who are into stuff. And how many people did you meet over the weekend who were from New York, New Jersey,
Starting point is 00:14:44 California? Most other people were not in Florida. Yeah. It's also like the only place in the country where the weather is good right now. So kind of the most brilliant move, Bob Wilson. Great job, Bob Wilson there. I remember the first F.A. When he announced that, I was like, this fucking guy is crazy.
Starting point is 00:15:09 A fest the week after Christmas, basically. Right. He's insane. But he's a genius. He's an evil sick. Twisted genius. It definitely worked out. Did.
Starting point is 00:15:22 And like, I mean, we're going to get there. Okay, I don't want to spoil the life of agony stuff. No, no. We'll go through the day. We missed five fans, but. Jesus Christ. But, you know, what we saw was, was, was wonderful. We saw 200 stab wounds doing their thing.
Starting point is 00:15:46 Age of Apocalypse. age of a rock eclipse more like for 200 stab wounds it's it's tough it's tough being like the death metal band on a fest with like zero other
Starting point is 00:16:02 this particular fest was like all is LDB there's like four or five yeah there's always there's always some you know and but I think like I talked to talk to them talk to Ezra and said that Like, they were psyched on the set.
Starting point is 00:16:18 It was good. It sounded really good. It's like you said, they're, their hardcore kids playing death metal. It's hard to sound good in that room. Yeah. And you can kind of tell the pros apart. A couple,
Starting point is 00:16:32 couple of pros on this day. You know, 200 sad wounds were pros. They're dialed in. Age Apocalypse dialed in. CI, King Nine dialed in. Magnitude. Very dialed in.
Starting point is 00:16:42 CI and King Nine playing each other's intros was a funny little. So cool. That's a gift that King, King Nine gave CIA a gift by saying here. Here, play the best thing ever written. And then King Nine gets to play the fucking da-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na. And then King Nine, of course, played their actual intro during the Chisel. The next day with the TV fiasco that's sweeping the nation. I know.
Starting point is 00:17:12 C-R-T-TVs make me just think of like my Nintendo 64 that's right there. It would look so good at it. And it's like because it wouldn't look good on it, that's why it looks good. It's supposed to look like shit. Well, you know. They were, so I watched the whole thing. And like at the time, component, um, video and video game consoles were made specifically for CRT TVs because there's no, there's not actually pixels with that, with those TVs.
Starting point is 00:17:42 It's a projection. And so it's like, I don't really understand what the hell I'm talking about, but it's like a way that it shows up is like all of the characters and sprites and backgrounds and everything that were designed with that in mind so that it could be soft and like not look good. That's why I remember. So then when you link looking less like a bunch of triangles. Dude, you load up golden eye on like an HD TV and it's like, oh, oh, whoa. Oh, God.
Starting point is 00:18:12 There's little gimmicks that you can buy that are like $100. You need two separate $100 things And you can play them on a HD stuff But Who's just emulate it? You know? They've had enough money. Just emulate it.
Starting point is 00:18:26 King 9 insane. C.I. insane. Obviously. That's what they do. They do insanity. You know? They eat good. They play good.
Starting point is 00:18:36 Magnitude. It was one of those sets were half the shows on the stage by the end of it, huh? Yeah. Yeah. We never talked to them. I don't, I don't think we know.
Starting point is 00:18:47 I know the one guy that's in one step closer to, but that's... I feel like we've got to get them on. I don't... Yeah, maybe we do. We did a full episode of Criminal Insinct, so... Which was awesome. That was... It was awesome.
Starting point is 00:19:02 That might be the most edited episode, I'll say. Yeah. Maybe the statute of limitations. Some very hard lore, but I think the statute of limitations is not out for some, uh, some of those stories anxious, crazy. Somebody kept calling them anxiety and it was really funny.
Starting point is 00:19:27 So, he was like anxiety is funny. You guys gonna go? We got Jersey mics. Ooh. That was really good. You were fighting me on that. But I was like,
Starting point is 00:19:38 we don't have time. Jersey mics is right there. Yeah, you're right. You're right. It's, you know, I have a hard time with sandwich places because of the subway thing.
Starting point is 00:19:47 Like I genuinely do. it's like if I catch a whiff and it reminds me of subway like I'm not going to eat. So you feel that you have a general disdain for sandwiches? Like subplaces. I can't like chain subplaces. I can feel that way. I have felt that way. There's like pop bellies,
Starting point is 00:20:07 firehouse subs. Yeah, even though they're toast. They're not the same. I don't care. I'm a Jimmy Johns man through and through. And what's funny is Jimmy Johns would make the most sense if I was like, but I like Jimmy Johns.
Starting point is 00:20:18 When you're eating, when you're eating, when you're eating keto, they got the fucking lettuce. Exactly. And it's, and it smells good in there. It smells real good. Because they actually bake their, yeah. Because they bake the bread back to. But Jersey Mike's rocked. Amen.
Starting point is 00:20:35 Crown of Thorns with Mike Dijon. What? Crown of Thorns is one of those bands. And I wish we got to talk to them, but we, you know, we didn't know how to go about setting that up. How to approach it. Yeah. Crownthorns is one of those bands that you can revisit the discography once a year, every other year, every three years, and realize A, you still know every word to every song. And B, the first thing you're thinking is like, how did these guys write this?
Starting point is 00:21:04 Yeah, which is what we did that going to and from the casino, we listened to River Runs Red and the Crown of Thrones LP. And it was like, how did they do it? Yeah, what the fuck? What's in the water? To this day, what is? in the water. Yeah, that's truly Crown of Thorns, a landmark band for me,
Starting point is 00:21:26 big time. Like that was one of those records where I was like, I think I'm going to dedicate my life to this thing. You know? Big time. Bulldoze, RIP KEP won. You know? Yeah. Anytime somebody shouted him out that day, I was like,
Starting point is 00:21:45 fighting it. We talked to, Tom Tom Sheen Indecision Ax to grind He happened to come back We had a little up
Starting point is 00:21:59 We were just having a little chat And the chat was so good That they were That we decided to start rolling Exactly what we did With the show Like how hard lore started It was what happened
Starting point is 00:22:12 With that thing That's true I'm recording this Tom was there for everything In you ever Yeah that's what I'm saying So, like, we were having a conversation. He was like, yeah, I remember the River Runs Red record release.
Starting point is 00:22:24 And it was like, Sean, can you press record? And we'll just talk about this. So there's like a 30-minute little extra grind hard lore crossover coming. That'll be nice. You guys will like that. It's good. Good stories. Tsunami, dude.
Starting point is 00:22:40 Taking over the world. Fucking. And is huge. And you break them down scientifically. You have Theo de Moshra on base. You have. dirt the the smoking shadow guy meme come to life as a guitar player playing by himself not missing a single note you have mr mr bashful handsome sexy coffee man joseph on vocals
Starting point is 00:23:07 water man and then yeah big big fan of water and then that sick fuck ben smoked all the weed in the world every day every day all new weed is grown just for him to be smoked every week And you have tsunami. It's this perfect little mix of these freaks that I love very dearly. And I'm thrilled to see grow to the place that they are. Yeah. We've never really talked about this. And I think, you know, doing like city versus city or like scene versus scene is like kind of whack.
Starting point is 00:23:43 But like what is the perception? Like do you view, do people down by you view Bay Area bands as Bay Area. bands or is it like, oh, they're like, they're all, like, yeah, good, you know, like, yeah, I think the perception is kind of like L.A. and Bay, but it's, but they're definitely embraced. You can see
Starting point is 00:24:02 when they play here, it's fucking insane. But for me, like, Bay was where my bands did well. Even when L.A. wasn't. You know? A fucking man. So. Always has. So I keep, kept an eye on these
Starting point is 00:24:18 guys being like, okay, this, when this guy here, I'm gonna have a good time. And this guy's here, I'm gonna have a good time. And it's like everybody in these bands that are that are rocking now. So they have my sword. That's the, and my ass. So cool. Pain of Truth was up next. They're another man. They got seven, eight fucking songs in the world and can play third to last. And everybody knows them. Everybody knows them. Everybody knows every word.
Starting point is 00:24:46 they can be in both guitarists can be in completely different tunings and they can still have an amazing set Big Kyle it's funny we've been around them so much because they're we go to all the fest that all these bands are playing that Colin like hasn't missed doing his part at a fest in like months I haven't missed a pain of truth show in years which in that part fucks me every time because I come back and I sound like this when we got to do the fucking episode
Starting point is 00:25:16 Yeah, right. But it sounds cool. You know what it sounds like? It sounds like you participated in a show, which we're getting to. Which I sure did. Yeah. Pain of truth, man. That LP is going to change the world, I think.
Starting point is 00:25:49 You know? I know we talk to him about it, but I don't remember how much. They like announced it at Boston, right? Like he said it. But I don't remember how much he said was like done or whatever. Yeah, I don't know if we can even disclose that. but it's going to be huge. The fact that they're this big off those seven songs is like...
Starting point is 00:26:10 Who does that? You're re-changing the goal, like the structure of how coming up as a hardcore man works. We legitimately haven't seen anything like that since... Like, the first thing that comes to mind is like the locking out era, where it was like, oh, a Boston band put out a seven-inch, and it's the biggest thing in the world. Yeah, like at the time... You know, like a...
Starting point is 00:26:32 Or what, no, what's the fucking... Here, let me... I'm gonna cut that out. Yeah, like fucking ice grills, you know? Exactly. Perfect example. Five songs or whatever. And every song is insane live every time.
Starting point is 00:26:47 This formula that you can't predict, it's just this magical lotto ticket time and place thing. And Pain of Truth won the Powerball. They got it. The Mega Mill. Mega Millions. Who's next? fiddlehead.
Starting point is 00:27:05 Just, they have the thing, too. They have the gods hate, cold world. Don't have to tour. Don't have to tour. I think they do? They, like, I, I don't know. I genuinely don't. I said genuinely.
Starting point is 00:27:20 I was really trying to. You're doing great. Don't worry. It's your word. Lean into it. Genuinely, old English. I really don't know how much they tour or not, but I just know that, like,
Starting point is 00:27:32 seeing them is kind of rare. for most people. Right. So if they're playing, you're going to go. Yeah. It's good shit. And you're going to have a great time.
Starting point is 00:27:41 Because it's such a fun band and so easy to enjoy oneself. And they got this far while being called fiddlehead, you know? It's a little fur. It's awesome. To me, it's a little violin on a head, you know? That's true.
Starting point is 00:27:56 But it was named it after the fir. I get that. We talked to him. I was there. Oh, yeah. Life of Agon was up next. How'd you feel?
Starting point is 00:28:05 This was, you needed to explain this. You need to explain. I'll go later. How important. Are you sure? I'll go later. Okay. You explained it for me, you know?
Starting point is 00:28:16 Okay. Neither of us had ever seen Life of Agony in any iteration. So that's kind of crazy, considering how, like, I really like life of agony. You love Life of Agony. So, like, for neither of us to have been able to see that ever, it's pretty crazy. For me to dedicate my life to Steve. stealing from them. And then,
Starting point is 00:28:36 and while never having seen them, it's pretty crazy. Yeah. And the fact that they were playing, River Runs Red, the fact that it was like an actual hardcore show, not some like weird club
Starting point is 00:28:49 or a, like a big bullshit fest, some kind of riot fest thing or something, you know, like a real thing where you can like participate. It's very exciting. Yeah, there were eight townies in the front.
Starting point is 00:29:01 And the rest was pure H.C. people like my parents age diving getting kicked having a great they were at the record release with Tom you know yeah exactly
Starting point is 00:29:13 we had been talking to each other about how the set list was going to go because there's a thing that happens where if you most bands the first song on the record is going to be the song of the set just because attention span bubble lie everybody knows the first song
Starting point is 00:29:30 so we were We were having discussion back and forth, like, now they're not going to open with this time. I would be like, that would be suicide. Yeah, that would be crazy. The second half, after like words and music, or like after bad see it, I guess, it's what? My eyes, respect, method of groove, Stan remains.
Starting point is 00:29:53 The lesser known songs on the album. Definitely. So I was plotting, like, how can they do this? Yeah, how are they going to. What are they close with? to make this make sense. And they just played it straight through and then played a bunch more.
Starting point is 00:30:08 Yeah. Or attempted to. Right. So they opened with this time. It was awesome. Just, it was awesome. Dives,
Starting point is 00:30:19 singing along, me getting a horrible picture taken up me. That's a great picture. It's in the thumbnail of this. I haven't showed you yet, but it's already made. I, I was, were you nervous before they played?
Starting point is 00:30:39 I, you know what? I don't have health insurance. So I was a little nervous about like, oh, I broke my wrist. Like I'm a little nervous about stuff like that. And I, I'm not like a pitter. I'm not like a hard ass. I like to stage dive and have fun. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:30:54 But certain bands, you know, I want to participate in. And you're absolutely right. There are situations where it's like you got to dance hard or literally die. Mosh or be moshed. That was this. This was that set. That was that. But I fucked up.
Starting point is 00:31:09 So the first, I matched and had a great time for the first two songs. Words from the Underground. Underground. Is that the name of the song? The song is called Underground. Words from the Underground. Calling from me. Colin from the Underground.
Starting point is 00:31:25 That was me that whole hour. Underground was like where it was like, oh shit. Like, stay away from me. You know, like that was when I was like, Uh-oh. And had a great time. And then I was like, okay, I need a breather because thought I was going to die. No air in my entire body.
Starting point is 00:31:45 Cunnel vision. I got that. You know what I mean? After through and through, it was when I was like, I don't know if my body's going to let me do this anymore. Yeah. But I fucked up because obviously I love the title track. I went and caught a breather forgetting that on the record. Track three is like a skit.
Starting point is 00:32:02 Because you expected, it's four o'clock. You're four hours late for dinner. I just, I just fucked it up in my head. So I was like all the way on the outside, like breathing. And then it was, I got the, you know, and I was just like, ah, fuck. Missed it. But then, um, I probably watched like until respect. And then I, I went and sat down in the back.
Starting point is 00:32:27 So you can take it away from there. There was, there was like a palpable fear that I felt. Like personal. I was like welling up as they were setting up. It's really weird because it was such an, they were such an important thing to me, you know? Like truly altered the course of my life when I heard that. Because I could have gone on that one way,
Starting point is 00:32:53 could have, could have stayed on the hate breed path, which maybe, you know, would have been smarter. But I went down the life vagging path because this record just changed my life. And it truly just defined. Like them and typo and only only witness and stuff like that truly defined like the second half of my life even until now. Like this part, there's, you can say some small domino effect.
Starting point is 00:33:21 This show exists because of that record in some way. You know, like a lot of things had to come together and that record is one of them. That meme of like listening to Life of Agony and Age whatever to Domino to like seeing them at FYA is like huge. For sure. There's a lot of things between that. Absolutely. I felt like a key. I purposefully, I'm going to admit something to you.
Starting point is 00:33:44 I purposefully, like we walked into the room together, got up to where we wanted to be, like, shoulder to shoulder. And then I like left to you because I wanted you to just, I knew that this was important. I was in my own little world. I just wanted you to enjoy that. I really did. I really, I actively thought. Nothing else mattered to me, truly in the whole world. I texted, I could see Bob on stage.
Starting point is 00:34:09 And I just texting, I'm like, I can't believe this is happening. We'll see how it goes, dude, he didn't. It's going to be fucking crazy. And it was. It was instantly crazy. I've definitely looked behind me a few times. And it just made me even more nervous. Just like looking how deep the room still went,
Starting point is 00:34:29 even with Fiddlehead playing before them, being the last band of the night. Oh, and we should say that the thing happened that we had talked about, and it was awesome, where there was a bit of a walkout. A bit of a walkout, but it just, you know, the strong survives, you know? It's like when you reduce a sauce and it becomes more potent and powerful, and that's exactly what happened. Like, the only people who were in the room were people who really wanted to see Life of Agne after a fucking 12-hour day of heavy loud music. And it was nice to see how many people and, like, people from bands and stuff. that were there, like, start to finish. Oh, yeah, 100%.
Starting point is 00:35:08 Seb, Seb from Regulate, the other lone survivor with your boy. Yeah, that's right. You two were the only two in there the whole time. And I think maybe a couple of age of apocalypse guys, but they have a, they're legally bound to be there
Starting point is 00:35:24 just like me. They started playing, you picked up, you like picked him up. I couldn't help. Like a sack of tape. I saw my special boy next to me. Just look. as sexy as ever.
Starting point is 00:35:36 I said, I gotta get him up. Come here. Yeah. I just wanted to see if I could. First and foremost. But man, what a set. I've covered every single one of those songs in my dreams, you know? I've experienced that set as like a pure fantasy in my head so many times.
Starting point is 00:35:58 And it's funny, too, to like revisit those songs. The whole weekend, both you and I were humming Life of Agnes song. Yeah. the entire week. Like before they played, just being like, damn, is this going to be crazy? And then after they played being like,
Starting point is 00:36:15 that was fucking crazy. It felt really good. It felt special. It felt like something that. I was 15 years old during that. Yeah, yeah. So I was exactly, I was going to say,
Starting point is 00:36:25 if I saw it as a teenager, that would be a set that would be very formative for me. Big time. Oh, this is how, this is the connection between a band that was like on Roadrunner, right?
Starting point is 00:36:35 A band that was on Roadrunner and pretty popular and like getting into weird worlds and ended up musically very different. But this is the bridge. This is where it started. You know? And like Mina shouting out Isaac. Oh my God. I was like fighting him. That was beautiful.
Starting point is 00:36:55 It was actually. Isaac's been very public about, you know, he's getting sober. He's changing his life. He's the fucking man. He's the singer of. like I said earlier one of my one of a formative man for me so it was like that was like two little worlds colliding
Starting point is 00:37:11 you know you know all these people existed at the same time in New York hardcore but you like I've never seen them interact before so I don't the only thing I know is the there's some footage of Freddie tracking like I don't know if it's set it off or something and like checking the mic with underground
Starting point is 00:37:30 and like that's all I know that's my association of being like, okay, I guess those guys fuck with Life of Agnew, you know, and them all playing together and stuff, but that was like, so cool. Irrefutable proof. He was like, all right, they are,
Starting point is 00:37:45 they are one, you know? I mean, she said, he's always giving me love, always given me respect. That was awesome. Always been there. It's just like, fuck, so cool. There was one moment where she was, there was like a, this is what the politicians
Starting point is 00:37:57 were trying to take away from us type thing. And you could, you could feel it in the room. People have been like, where's it going? Careful, careful, careful, slippery slope. And then it was like, ah, this one's called through and through. Yeah. Yeah, and then what happened at the end?
Starting point is 00:38:16 Explain. Oh, yeah, they finished the record, played the Stain Remains, which for, like, as an album play, I was like, maybe they'll skip the Stain Remains because, like, that's, I don't think of that. That's a top three, Life of Agony track to me. But I don't know who knows what, you know? A lot of bands do album plays and skip songs. It's kind of, it's kind of, I wasn't sure. A lie. And that, fucking, I've ripped off that song 30 times, probably.
Starting point is 00:38:45 Structurally, lyrically, something. So that felt real good. And then the record ends and they're like, all right, well, we're going to do a few more for you. And then went into the fucking Plexiglass gate intro. So I was done at that point. I was like, I'm fucking, I'm out of here, you know? Yeah. And then Lumpy starts moshing.
Starting point is 00:39:07 Really? I was like, I'm not going to be out survived by fucking Lumpy, you know? So I had one more in me. Yeah, that was just the best thing ever. Then they started to play other side of the river, which is my like favorite non-riverans red track. And then the power went out. And I, I picked up my Irish flag and got the fuck out of there.
Starting point is 00:39:33 Got the hell out of there. That was day one. Had a hard time sleeping. We went to the castle. Oh, fuck, you're right. I forgot. We went to the castle.
Starting point is 00:39:44 We very briefly went to the castle. There's a rule with the castle. First of all, we had an incredible McDonald's meal. The McDonald's right down the street from the castle. One of the greatest in the world. And like we put over McDonald's a lot and we will say some bombastic things about the quality. This was like the chicken nuggets you could hear.
Starting point is 00:40:07 being bit. The fries were crunchy. It was the kind of thing where we were mid-conversation, like, just picking at stuff from the bag while we were driving to the castle. And we'd be like, yeah, that was fucking crazy. That wasn't an unbelievable fry. And we'd be mid-sit-sentence every time being like, yeah, I think this is the entrance here. This nugget is piping hot.
Starting point is 00:40:28 It's piping hot like 10 minutes later. It didn't make any sense. The Diet Coke is crispy. Loved it. So that was great. And then there's a rule getting into the castle for, which I didn't know. I'd been there once before, but like I don't remember this being a thing. If you're wearing all black, you can like skip the line and get in through this like side entrance.
Starting point is 00:40:51 And this had to have been the first time in the history of your life where you weren't wearing all black. If you were wearing the Morpheus gear here, it would have been it would have been instantane. Dude, right before that, somebody got denied. Yeah, yeah, yeah. People were getting denied. They were like, sorry, it's like, that's the vibe, which is like, I respect it. It's a cool rule.
Starting point is 00:41:16 Yeah, agree. You're trying to keep the aesthetic of the club going. But then she asked, like, the girl who was at the door kind of like looked me up and down, I was wearing a typo-negative shirt. And she kind of went, you guys got cash? Collinette Cash. Cash was king, baby.
Starting point is 00:41:35 We skipped that fucking line. Skip the line, sorry. Maybe she was just an actual friend of the show and it had nothing to do with the shirt. Maybe. But she, I do, like, you know how you could tell when someone's like reading your shirt? Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:41:48 She like absolutely was like... I've heard them upstairs before. We should look them in there. I'm a fan. Yeah, it's interesting in there. A couple of horny old bastards doing their horny bastard thing, getting whipped. People getting whipped.
Starting point is 00:42:03 Stormtrooper. Love the Stormtrooper. The Babadook. Yo, the Babaduke was scary. She was just there. There was a person with like the biggest, like an anime brimmed hat, like all the way around. Like a fucking. What's Luke Kang's, uh, uncle, Kung Lao, like a Kung Lao shaped hat.
Starting point is 00:42:25 It's awesome. Sitting perched. Just Mike Body hitting in the, on the dance floor, tearing it up. Dan Sealy on the, on the dance floor, tearing it up. then we got the fuck out. And we kind of, we did like a lap, saw our friends, and then we're just like, yeah, we're good. Because like, we're not drinking. We're not like, you know, you're happily married and I'm, I can't talk to people.
Starting point is 00:42:51 You're just kind of, you know. Divergent. What does that mean? I don't know. I don't think I'm that. Let's see. Could change. But I, you know, I wasn't, I wasn't looking to meet the fucking spider queen that night or anything, you know.
Starting point is 00:43:05 describes people whose brain differences affect how their brain works. Different strengths and challenges. I don't know. That sounds. I don't think I'm that. Okay. I think I'm just shy. Yeah,
Starting point is 00:43:18 okay. Then we got back to the hotel and I slept like fucking dog shit. Absolute dog shit. Oh, I was that the thing's all over the place right now. Yeah, what the fuck? Is that where I,
Starting point is 00:43:29 I'm just loving me. Okay. Was that the morning where I had to wake you up manually? Yeah. He checked me off. I called you back. And it was literally like, but it was like noon.
Starting point is 00:43:51 And then you were in the lobby before. Maybe 11. It was a little earlier, but 10 at home. You're quick. People give you shit, but you're very fast. I get ready really quick because I shower. I do everything at night for the most part. So really, all I do is throw on my clothes,
Starting point is 00:44:07 which I always set out. Thank God. Teeth. Thank God. You have the crop reviver for Manscaped for after a long night's sleep, you know? You know, it really just freshens things up. I mean, again, not to, not to shill out or anything. I put that on every day. I felt great every day.
Starting point is 00:44:25 20% off. 100%. Hardler. Hardler. Coddardtcape. Appreciate. com. Um.
Starting point is 00:44:32 What do we do that day? We went back to the cafe. Oh, buddy. Got some avocado toast. chatted with a local about Big Brother for about 45 minutes. Went to the show. Went back to the show. Let's see the lineup.
Starting point is 00:44:49 Day two. Day two, we was busy. Yeah, we were really busy. So I probably saw the least amount of bands. Oh, dude,
Starting point is 00:44:56 New World Man. Yeah. I'm gonna, I got to listen to them now because everyone is like all in on this band. I've seen many posts about them after. Yeah, I don't like a lot of crossover. It's really not my thing.
Starting point is 00:45:10 But I love the crumb. I mean, he sounds exactly like the crumb suckers guy playing way harder music, essentially. And it's coming from a crumb sucker's fan. What? What is the dude from regulate the guitar player with the Explorer? Body? Because he plays in that band. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:45:30 Is that his name? Yeah, Mike Body. Once. He's the singer of Blind Justice as well. Right. and he's also in no pressure. He's also in no pressure. He's just all over that stage.
Starting point is 00:45:43 And only the hands that are ripping. Yeah, he's good. Because he's good. He knows what he's got. Field of Flames. Some RBS played. We had Barry Dreams. Envision.
Starting point is 00:45:59 Raw Brigade. Raw Brigade played here last night. I guess it was insane. I saw a video. I think Cat posted. Fucking bonkers. End it. Taking over the world, rightfully so.
Starting point is 00:46:18 Yeah. Fucking rock. I love that last year. That's another one. I got to, I'm going to make a list after this conversation. This is going to be your bow listens to new bands list. While I set up my new washer dryer.
Starting point is 00:46:31 Oh, good for you, man. Yeah, end it rocks. The chisel was right after that. So that was who I was most excited for probably over the weekend until I realized, until you and I started talking about life of agony. Yeah. I was most excited for the chisel and I can finally now shut the fuck up about him to everyone he's listening. That's how you feel. I just like I know I'm like, I know I don't shut up about him.
Starting point is 00:46:55 But they were. That's fine. I like them a lot. They were great. They were perfectly. And they said this themselves. So I'm not even taking a shot at them. They were like perfectly sloppy, perfectly punk.
Starting point is 00:47:05 played exactly what they should have played, a couple songs off the 7-inch, all the hits off the record. And then we did a... And then we did a mini with them, and it was like the most British thing to ever happen. Yeah, it was so perfect. Their voices were music to me.
Starting point is 00:47:26 Cowell's voice is insane. It's a movie. It's a movie every time we talk. It's a fucking... It's a... It's a... Brona film, you know? Every time these motherfuckers talk, loved it.
Starting point is 00:47:42 It was great. Austin Sparkman jumped into the interview. Had a great story. Drummer of the... He did. And that quote I said at Tijuana yesterday as like a piece of advice, you know? She hated it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:47:53 It's fine. Gridiron was up next. Versat you, Matt Carl. Tragic event. This ended tragically for me. Are you going to put the clip in? The, the, I know you, I know it's extra work for you, but the clip that our sweet Andy has is perfect. From the windup to the kick to the look down, like you landed looking down.
Starting point is 00:48:29 It was an unmistakable, fateful, fateful breeze that I felt. I know that breeze. You know that breeze. Yeah, yeah, yeah. We've all been there. We've all been there. You feel a little tug, and then you just feel a gentle, fateful wind hits you. And you just know it's game over.
Starting point is 00:48:53 Look down, my beloved, double RL camo pants shredded from the quad out. And here's the thing. Double RL's whole thing is functionality, right? And these are Their whole Their whole gimmick Is like functional clothing A military
Starting point is 00:49:14 Uh Fucking railroad shit Guys Oh I see Dudes with job Durability Yeah durability And I took them to war
Starting point is 00:49:23 You know I took them to war You really did I battle tested them They're your favorite pants They're my favorite pants They're gonna replace them That's nice
Starting point is 00:49:35 Thank you Thank you Ralph That that is a quality that will make me go back to any brand. Yeah. Like any brand that's like,
Starting point is 00:49:48 oh, these ripped, send them back. We got you. I mean, the coolest thing on, I agreed like if it's like LLB or R.E.I. or whatever,
Starting point is 00:49:56 they all do that. Yeah. Yeah. You wouldn't expect Ralph Lauren to do that. But here he is. But if their whole gimmick is the working man's fashion pants. Right. You know?
Starting point is 00:50:07 Working man's camo. And you're working on a gunner spin kick. It's going to happen, you know, at some point. I was sitting in our interview room with my back to the door. And I can, you were wearing, were they red wings that you were wearing? Or were they, Chippewas? Or what shoes were you wearing? Red wings.
Starting point is 00:50:26 And I could hear you clopping up the hallway, unmistakable. It opens the door and I hear, I finally did it. And I thought you meant the part because you did Brody's part. part. Yeah. Oh, and I've been, I had been rehearsing it all day, right? Reciting it all day. So I thought, oh, I nailed it on stage. And I was like, oh, good job. And then it was so, so ripped, so broke. Very sad. Truly. And then I posted yesterday, I was like, I posted a picture of them asking, are these salvageable? And I think something about the directness of the question, the timing of the question, it was the
Starting point is 00:51:07 Most people that have ever seen or responded to anything I've ever posted. Who knows how that algorithm works? I don't get it at all. I have a theory that it's because I took it inside the app. You know? Okay. Like when you take the pick in the app. In the app.
Starting point is 00:51:24 Yep. If you post something. That affects it. I also find that like reposting like an actual post, adding it to your story seems to not do too super great. It doesn't do shit. Having a link is not good for some reason. Kill yourself if you have the link in there.
Starting point is 00:51:41 Like, why? I don't know. They want the real. They want you to be real, you know? Yeah, right, right, right. So, yeah, you're absolutely right. That is what it is. They're like, oh, he took this in the app.
Starting point is 00:51:51 This must be good. Push it out. And there's a question mark in there. Question mark? Yeah, that's, this must be good. It wasn't. I got some conflicting responses. I'll tell you what.
Starting point is 00:52:03 Half and half. people I really trust told me to fix them. People I really trust told me, what are you doing, man? Get a new pair. So I'm getting a new pair. But I'm going to keep this too. I mean, if they're willing to replace it,
Starting point is 00:52:17 it's totally different. I'll frame. I put him right there. Yeah. Right above me. Oh, you don't even have to send them back? I don't think I have to send him back. No.
Starting point is 00:52:24 They saw the video. They know what happened. That's incredible. That's the reason I got out of nicer jeans in general and just stick to Uniclo. because touring and doing bullshit, like I just, you rip your pay. I used to be a nudie jeans guy.
Starting point is 00:52:40 And they're expensive. And they would always rip in the crotch every fucking time. They just feel so good. I would go and get him reinforced at mild blend here in Chicago. Mid blend? Mid blend.
Starting point is 00:52:50 That's right. And Andrew Morrissey classic. Mid blend. Direct classic quote. Do you guys get on here. I want to go down to mid blend and, mid blend. He was at for the children.
Starting point is 00:53:01 I don't know if we talked about that on the show yet. That was nice. That was really nice. He sent me a picture of like an Instagram filter with him with morphous glasses on. So anyway, mind force was next. Two pits. Two pits. Unreal.
Starting point is 00:53:24 Not many bands can say that. No, they're having an incredible moment right now. This mind force here. Terror at Sodom Fury. No joke at one point had like between four. six. And I mean that, like, literally. And that was a quarter of the people.
Starting point is 00:53:45 And outside. Correct. And Mindforce had two. So that ratio is fantastic. It's great stuff. Yeah, crazy set. They're having an incredible moment. They're seeming a,
Starting point is 00:54:01 they seem like a general, a generational shift is shifting towards mind force being like, the band. Having played back to back with them many times, I'd rather die than do it again. Went and bought you some sweatpants. Shut up, Sam, Triple B. Oh, thank you. Thank you for that. That was huge. Amazing.
Starting point is 00:54:21 I did do the rest of the minis within the ripped pants, you know, just to add a little me all the way out. Just make everybody comfortable, you know? We did a mini with gridiron. that was just delightful. Oh, and we should mention that we did one with Parker and Harry from No Pressure. Well, yeah, their sets coming right up. That one is...
Starting point is 00:54:50 It was great. That was a great interview. That felt like one of the best ones, you know. The chemistry was off the chart. I mean, Harry's... I could talk to him about anything all day. Never met Parker before. Lovely, lovely lad.
Starting point is 00:55:04 We were very like-minded. hates doing interviews, but had a great time with us. So it's all we want. It's all we want. We're just guys chatting. You know, we're not, it's not an interview. It's just the boys. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:55:21 The proverbial boys, the royal boys, you know? Right. Being boys. How, how, we can cut this if you don't want to talk about this, but how did you feel about walking around and being stopped, talk to? We don't have to cut. Ask the sign a baby. I don't, I don't, I don't mind it.
Starting point is 00:55:42 It's awesome. Like, that just shows me that the show is working. I don't want to take away from the fest, you know, or like the band's playing. 1,000%. We're, we're there. It's sick. Obviously, it's great. We were talking to John Lopez about that, who, as soon as we saw him at the fest, he came up to us.
Starting point is 00:56:01 And Andy was there, the hard door PA, slash producer slash. flight booker and he just goes hey I'm the poop guy to her so that was nice and she was like uh but a couple people like mid conversation with him were like taking pictures and stuff and i think we just felt we felt bad in a way you know it's a weird it's a weird thing for us to be somewhere not playing to be doing something kind of third party like a little on the outside new um and taking anything away from a band's set, from a band's... That's why, like, who knows if we'll ever
Starting point is 00:56:44 bring shirts and shit to shows because we don't want to take away from the pot, you know? Yeah, there's only so much money. There's a lot of it. It ends. It ends. More of it now, but it ain't ours. That's for the band's playing.
Starting point is 00:56:57 We're there for them. We're there to uplift the thing as a whole. rather than be the fucking... We ain't trying to hijack the show. We're trying to make it better. We did the man on the street stuff. That was fun. That was a lot of fun.
Starting point is 00:57:16 We talked to friends, showgoers, everything. Hit him with some simple questions. Got them up, got them out. Seb had an amazing walk-off. Oh, great walk-off. That will be the first thing that we post from this, I think. I think that'll be, we're not going to hold that off till like after the furnace fest shit. We'll just, we'll pop that up as soon as it's ready.
Starting point is 00:57:41 Because it's very fun. And that, and we both talked about how we kind of want to do that. Yeah. So if you see us walking around with Sean the cameraman and PA Andy. Say what's up. Because that's, and that's the thing that's like most important is because this, this show is about hardcore. And there's no hardcore without the people going to shows. More so than the band's playing.
Starting point is 00:58:02 Yeah, we don't, we don't. And they would agree. We don't like the idea of it seeming like we're like some. One of my greatest fears on earth is people seeing us walk in or doing our shit or doing whatever thinking that we believe we're a bigger deal than we are. Oh my God. No. At all.
Starting point is 00:58:21 Like I don't want that. We're just, we're just vivant. Super grateful and just having a great time getting to see some of our favorite bands and talk to people and blah, blah, blah. But there's not, there's no gatekeeping. You know what I mean? there's a little you know
Starting point is 00:58:35 well a little but there's always a little but like my point is like get keep the good stuff you talk to you what yeah my point was
Starting point is 00:58:43 you can always talk to oh absolutely absolutely that's I would like that to be kind of the focus at these things going forward
Starting point is 00:58:51 because interviewing bands is is sick and like that's that's the main part of the show but it's I want people to be like
Starting point is 00:59:00 yo they I talk to them on the thing you got to watch this next one. Of course. And less we forget some of like the earlier episodes
Starting point is 00:59:09 that popped were the fans' submission ones. That's true. The Q&As, the stuff like that. That's very true. Because they're part of it. Like the pie ball song. Hey!
Starting point is 00:59:21 Drain was next. Beachball, Bonanza, blast. This was another, I mean, they, I would comfortably put them next to Mindforce all day. back to back with no pressure. No pressure was insane. They played here last night too insane. They're one of those bands right now. Drain is they can, if you're a book in a fest, you can confidently book them as a headliner or a co-headliner or something because they're going to have a good set and they're proving that every time.
Starting point is 00:59:53 Saw the no pressure guys as I was flying out the next day. Did you? No pre-check. Surprising. I'm a snob now. got to be gets me right through get no you know what you're on your own you're all on your own
Starting point is 01:00:10 you get pre-check or don't either way I ain't taking my fucking shoes off so I'll see you at the gate you know wearing boots to the airport without a second thought is like sometimes they'll make you take them off
Starting point is 01:00:23 if they're like steel toe or mock toe or something okay just if they set off the dinger you gotta take it yeah right right yeah Cole World Close the show Oh yeah Fuck go go ahead
Starting point is 01:00:37 Sorry yeah They closed the show Just bonkers That's the way it's been Since I was a kid That set that they had at FYA Was the set I've seen them have Since I was a child
Starting point is 01:00:48 Pretty cool Seen them a lot Like over the years Obviously not recently as much But seen them a lot They're a certified legacy act When they would play United Blood Or this is hardcore
Starting point is 01:01:02 It was just like holy shit the band is fucking you you know like every time and then they sell a bunch of merch and people go oh there's a merch band you're an idiot like fuck you you don't know what you're talking about
Starting point is 01:01:16 you're moron um I want to talk about the security but I don't want to like bad mouth the security you know what I mean oh the guy outside of the room just like
Starting point is 01:01:28 getting in with we shouldn't talk about it because I don't want to like blah, blah. I don't want to make it seem like it's unsafe or something. We got it and the guy did the fit. Oh. But I don't want it to.
Starting point is 01:01:42 I see, I get what you mean. Walking in with the camera bags that could just, could have just been. Anything. Yeah. Yeah, right. But my guy had to throw in my coffee.
Starting point is 01:01:51 I'll tell you that much. Yeah, outside drinks. What's in that bag? Jek's kidding. I don't know. I don't care. How did it end?
Starting point is 01:01:59 What did we do after? Went to cold. We went back to cold. Calder's. Right. And got, this is where the first time we went to Culver is we only had the dessert. So when we went back, Colin, I actually tried all the food. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:02:10 And they didn't have marinero sauce for the cheese curses. It was very upsetting. What a funny thing. Yeah, he was pissed. I was pissed. A little ketchup king upset about some marinera sauce, huh? I love mariner. Love it.
Starting point is 01:02:24 They also just completely fucked up our order. Whatever. It's boring to talk about. But the way they fucked up our order was so funny. Yeah. It was three things that we didn't order. Every single thing on the, the receipt was completely right. And then the tray was like something else.
Starting point is 01:02:41 It was awesome. Completely wrong. I was like, do you want me to go up with you? And I'll help you. And the guy was like, it's all right. I got it. And then brought somebody else. And they're like, so what did you get?
Starting point is 01:02:52 So what did you order? And it was like, well, if you see here. It was good. All of this. It's enhanced Wendy's is what I'll call it. Diet root beer, their own brand. best part of the meal. Yeah, they got, Colvers is a solid,
Starting point is 01:03:07 it's just a solid place. I love it. Happy to see elsewhere. Oh, heard today that in and out is expanding to the East Coast. Yep. Yep. Yep.
Starting point is 01:03:20 Do a quick Google. Saw a friend of the show Chris Santos posted about it and asked like, are they going to be able to keep up the, uh, Tennessee and 2026. Oh, well, okay. Not too soon, but expanding.
Starting point is 01:03:34 Yeah. I mean, if they're as far as Texas already, it's like, you might as well go to Tennessee. That's interesting. You can change the fast food landscape. Wow. The first had the first line of this article, In-N-Out Burger is double-dubling down on growing its business. Genius. Did you get home okay and everything?
Starting point is 01:03:59 No direct flights. Yeah. For some reason. I hate a fucking connection. Yeah. I got lucky with do you want to, do you want a free check bag? You know, when you're like, so I change. Here's the secret.
Starting point is 01:04:17 You can do that on any flight. If you walk up to the counter. Take your fucking bag all the way through to the counter and you don't have to pay for it. It's free. You just say, hey, can I gate? You ask for a gate check. Can I gate check this? They're going to give it to you.
Starting point is 01:04:32 Especially if it's a full flight. They're going to be like, oh, thank you. you'll notice on most flights they'll ask they ask yeah there was also in the uh american app it was like do you want to change your flight and and how much money would it take you to do so and it was like three hundred six hundred nine hundred dollars those were the options i had to be home but i thought about it had to be somewhere yeah well that was a lovely weekend huh that was a good weekend um I had a I had a surprise
Starting point is 01:05:06 I didn't expect to enjoy myself as much as I did Life of Agony was really something special It felt really good I just didn't think I was going to To be that like excited Once in a life time That's how I felt
Starting point is 01:05:17 Yeah I was a little I'm more I animorphed into a little kid Like mentally everything Let me ask you They said on stage That they were going to be
Starting point is 01:05:28 Taking that set Like all over this year and it's been 30 years, by the way, since they put out that record, which is fucking crazy. Will you go and see them again? Or was that set perfect? That was probably.
Starting point is 01:05:43 You know what I mean? It's not going to top that. Because whatever else, unless I see them at like a hardcore fest, it's not going to be strictly hard. The hardcoreness of it, of the essence of the set was why it was so magical. Because it was like a 1,500, like-minded people
Starting point is 01:06:02 who grew up getting the same thing from it that I got rather than some towny fucking freak you know there's a lot of piercings up front on those piercings but and like people who spin kick who know that that record is built for spin kicking that's who was there
Starting point is 01:06:23 they won't be there coming on this tour I think you should go see it if you weren't able to see it at FYA. Absolutely. Absolutely. Absolutely. The reason I asked that question is not to say that like, oh, they couldn't do that again or anything like that or to put them down. It's that, for example, as we talked about, I saw the misfits the first time they came back and it was perfect. Went and saw them again at Ryeth's this past year left during the second song because it was like, it sounded terrible. The vibe was different. Didn't feel a special. I don't want to ruin it.
Starting point is 01:06:53 Sure. Hate the feeling of like, oh, they're bad now, you know, or whatever. Yeah, man. It's like I waited this long. I saw it. It's not that I never need to say it again, but there's, like, I saw Faith No More two days in a row one time. Obviously, the second day wasn't as good. They played exactly as good,
Starting point is 01:07:13 but the first set was like top five all time. They play the same set or different sets? No, that's, that was a big part of it. Second set was like, they played the whole new album start to finish. Dude, and the first set. There's no worse. Dude, the first one was like open with as the worm turns all, All hits.
Starting point is 01:07:32 One new song. All hits. There's really nothing worse to me than like a band being like, we're going to play the whole new record. Front to back. No one on earth wants that. Nobody. For any band ever.
Starting point is 01:07:47 No. You're right? Yeah, I didn't like that, but still one of my favorite brands ever. And that first set was so good that I wouldn't even mad. Sure. Understood. What can you do? What's it like seeing them?
Starting point is 01:07:59 They played riot fest one time, but I wasn't like in the crowd. I was at the merch. It was top five ever. Top five ever. Yeah. That day is the same day I met my wife. Wow. But now are you, is there like a pit?
Starting point is 01:08:14 Are you like singing along? Yeah, you're just standing. I was like singing along next to Brian Possein. You know, it was that kind of thing. Gotcha. Brian Possein is there. That's the vibe. FYA.
Starting point is 01:08:27 Bob Wilson. Thank you. Thank you, Bob, for having us. Bob, Joe, Chris, everybody involved. Scanlan. Stage managing the whole time. What a pro. Pro. Scaliland's a pro.
Starting point is 01:08:39 Yeah, they had, Life of Agony had a last minute amp problem, and they switched it out like immediately. And it's like, oh, the headliner on the first day is having an amp problem. Like I stress that. I was stressing out watching it, you know. It was a great. Great set. Great weekend. Bob Wilson. F.YA Fest. Thank you, Bob. Thank you for watching. Thank you, Bob Wilson. Thank you, Bob Wilson. The fourth, the third, the same. second and the first for making FAA happen. We will see you next week.
Starting point is 01:09:13 It might be hauntler time next week. What do you think? I think so. We should say apologies that we haven't had anyone on or done anything, like, done anything, like our usual thing. We had holidays and then we're traveling. And it's just tough. It's true. I don't want to bother someone in between.
Starting point is 01:09:28 We had that full-length Dan Sealy live episode last week. No, no, no. I know. I'm just saying if you prefer how we normally do things, it's coming. back. It's just this time of year is kind of crazy. All right. Thanks, everybody.
Starting point is 01:09:42 We will see you soon. Bye. Bye.
