Three new hard-law shirts out right now.
Thank you.
Dead Body just played the AEW pay-per-view in New Jersey.
Just it happening at all.
Absolute miracle.
They built an 8 by 12 stage,
which think about 8 feet by 12 feet.
Only me, Taylor, and the drum kit could fit on this little thing.
Miles had his own little stage that was like 4 by 12.
So sad.
That he had to get carded.
So the people in the arena,
while the Costco guys are exiting,
could see dead body
rolling out on this tiny
little stage. Hello, welcome.
It's hard Lord's time. How are you, Bo?
I'm doing great today. We got
we got no pressure, just
enjoyable, cozy.
We love these. I don't think we've caught up like this
in quite a while. So this
is a long time coming.
You've been up to. What have
I been up to? I got a sauna.
I'm a sauna guy now. Don't worry about it.
You cannot believe this song.
I'm obsessed.
How do you, so when you said I got a sauna.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I thought about it for about five minutes and it sent my brain into an incurable scramble.
Got a sauna is like fever dream type sentence.
Yeah, it like doesn't make sense.
It's full disclosure.
It isn't like a traditional like heated stone dry sauna, which you can get, but they're like thousands of dollars.
Like you don't have.
a home with a sauna room in it.
Correct.
I have a Porsche with a vinyl insulated sweat tent and a steaming machine that pumps steam
into it.
But it gets about 120 degrees, 100% humidity.
So you sweat in this tent every day.
And then I wash what I, what's in there.
I wash.
I wash it.
But it's nice, dude, you get off, get home from the gym, jump in there for 20.
I got a little, this is hilarious to talk about, but it's like an archaic.
steaming thing. So there's no Wi-Fi. There's nothing. No way to turn it on.
So I got this little robot button that goes,
that I can turn on. Oh, really? That's kind of like what I have for this thing.
And it, yeah, yeah, there you go. That doesn't do that on its own.
That's a, that's a, that's, I got a guy back there. And I push this and it, uh,
sprays a little water at him. And then he knows he's on. Yeah. So I'm actually, uh,
Alec. It's Alex back there.
You wouldn't believe it.
Yeah, I work out and I jump in there.
That's what I've been into.
Thanksgiving, I cooked for me and my mom.
You cooked?
Just me.
It was great.
What did you make?
I made, so I didn't get a full bird.
I got just like the breast roast.
Oh.
With it.
So it's just like a turkey breast, a whole turkey breast with like skin on it.
It's all wrapped up.
Packed it with butter and herbs and stuff.
I made mashed potatoes.
I made a green bean casserole kind of thing.
Stuffing and cranberry.
from scratch?
Oh, wow.
You prefer, you like from scratch
rather than they can?
I just kind of wanted to do it.
Because you can juice it up.
You did Thanksgiving.
That's crazy, man.
Good job.
I bought the soda and the ice cream.
Come on.
Come on.
What did you get?
Where is Van Lewin?
Oh, I got a Van Luen pine.
I got a Jenny's pine.
I got two McConnell's pines.
I got a bunch of, oh yeah.
They all came home with me.
My mom's, my stepdad made some dry-ass turkey.
Kyla made some unbelievable mashed potatoes.
And she made all her pies.
My sister-in-law, Kyla, Taylor's wife, is perhaps the greatest pie maker in human history.
I have to try.
I've never tried anything she's ever made.
I hate when she bakes.
Because it's the weak.
I'm a pound fatter.
Yeah.
Four hours later.
Yeah.
You know?
Yeah.
And that, like, I just worked off them nuggets from last year, you know?
Literally.
I just got those off.
The Thanksgiving pie just added about another month of work for me.
But it is what it is.
Anyway, we're here today just to kind of chat for a bit, catch up.
We're going to answer some questions in a bit.
We've both been very busy.
Yeah.
And we have, we have some heat coming.
Yeah.
If you're wondering, if you heard the end of last week,
episode, you're wondering where that is, it's coming, but we just had to, you know, kind of
figure something out and plan something.
We're at the end of the year. We've had a, we've had a long year. We've had a successful
year in terms of just kind of the stuff that we've done week to week on the show. We thank you
all for sticking with us. We've had some dream guests. We've had some guests and new
bands that we hope to introduce you to. There's a little bit of everything. You know, that's
what we're all about here.
So we, you know, I would love to hear who you all want to see.
So please drop a name below who you want.
We got some really cool people coming up.
We got some big plans for next year.
I think we're going to take a couple trips.
Also, I was going to say, yeah.
Also, I was going to say, if possible, go way back.
See if there's someone you want to run us back with.
I think we're two years on plus, you know, we're two and a half years on.
We can run some people back, even from the mini episodes, stuff like that.
Yeah.
I mean, Drain's been through a lot.
Scowl's been through a lot.
It's high time for some reruns here.
But yeah, thank you guys for this year.
It's been lovely.
We've been racking our brains week to week by some miracle figuring out what to do.
So now we're just taking it easy and enjoying.
Looking back at the year, finally, and being like, that was pretty good.
We'll have a, like, kind of best of.
compilation episode, probably first week of January.
But for now, we're just having a nice time.
It's been a...
This last weekend was the first week, like, day that I've had to just sit.
Oh, dude, you got to talk about your major development.
Colin has finally joined the PC world.
man
it's tough to describe
the joy that this
I built a PC
saved up for it
for a bit
found all my parts
you know
worked with a lovely guy
at MicroCenter
Oh shout out my
shit together
My God
It's heaven
I can't wait to go back
and just explore
Yeah it's the best
And now my Mac
that I use for hard lore
and used for this
feels like work
to use
And my entire life
I felt the opposite
Like, booting up a PC felt so foreign.
Archaic.
It just felt like a library computer or something.
Yeah.
Yeah, I know it.
Whereas now I see that a PC is truly just like endless open possibilities.
Yeah.
What do you want to do?
There is a way to do it.
I'm so excited every day to just get home and at night and be like, okay, I can finally turn this thing on.
What have you been playing?
We played dead by daylight.
Played dead by daylight.
I've been playing Diablo four.
I'm playing a lot of the Hades II.
the access.
Love that.
I'm loving it.
It's very difficult.
Yeah.
Love the music again.
Whoever's doing that, the guy rips.
It's outstanding.
Yeah.
And this Fortnite season is perhaps the greatest of all time.
It's like Japan theme.
There's Samarize.
Oh, really?
Oh, that's pretty cool.
Yeah, it's unbelievable.
That's pretty cool.
So I've been very busy with that this past week.
Dead Body just played the AEW.
pay-per-view in New Jersey recently.
That was really cool.
Talk to me about that.
All right.
Just it happening at all.
Absolute miracle.
Totally.
We pitched this.
I mean, I know Brody's been pitching this internally for like two years.
Just some kind of live thing as he's a musician and he works with musicians and I've been
doing music for them for almost three years now.
Yeah.
Yeah.
The answer was pretty much no right off the bat.
Just in terms of like the logistics it would take and like with the venue and whatnot.
And Brody persisted.
And Dan Seeley from King Nine now works for AEW doing a lot of the prop stuff.
And he kind of went above and beyond here and like found absolutely everything needed to make it happen.
like the audio package, the guys, sound guys and everything.
And like, I would say week of, we booked that show at the Brooklyn Meadows,
kind of hoping it would happen, but expecting it not to.
So, and both bands were playing Brooklyn.
Both bands were playing the show and it's like, just in case.
Just in case.
Yeah.
Just in case this can happen.
And if not, you're at a dope pay-per-view, you're in New York, you're eating.
100% yeah no ready it was going to be a great time regardless totally week of it was like it's on
we're good so now the stress starts yeah and i'm like there's a little bit of me that's like come on
like if it doesn't happen it's fine because i don't have to be stressed out about it uh it does happen
we're stressing out about it taylor's the king of stress so he's freaking out um the situation the like
making it happen then we first we were told
the gear would be like on a separate stage where it could just kind of live for the show
and we could walk up and play because we'll have already sound checked already already line checked
yeah then but AEW was using a new size entrance stage for the first time bigger
bigger okay so we could they couldn't facilitate that any longer so what they did was then
then one of the guys is like so we're just going to have you guys set up sound check
Line check, tear everything down.
And then, like, 15 minutes before the match,
we're going to have you guys set right back up.
No line check.
With no line check.
No line check.
Yeah.
No.
And if you tear down a microphone, the sound check is pointless.
Right.
Yeah.
It's over.
All you know is that the mixer works.
Like, maybe.
Maybe.
Every line can change.
Yeah.
So they didn't do that either.
They built an 8 by 12 stage, which think about 8 feet by 12 feet.
not a lot of space
for a four-piece band
with a full drum band.
So if you look at the footage,
you'll notice Taylor is not at the front.
He's slightly to the side.
Yeah.
Because only me, Taylor,
and the drum kit could fit on this little thing.
Miles had his own little stage
that was like 4 by 12.
So sad.
That he had to get carded.
So the people in the arena,
while the Costco guys are exiting,
could see dead body
rolling out on this
tiny little stage.
And then they ratchet miles to us and then plugged in the power like a minute before we're going on.
Oh, my God.
So we're on the stage hoping that sound is coming out.
Yeah.
Just like, they rehearsed the entrance one time and told us, okay, you only have like maybe two minutes.
So we, we like rehearsed a version of the song that was two minutes.
Okay.
And they were like, that's way too short guys.
You got to make it longer.
And I tried explaining, like, there needs to be a certain point where we know where to stop.
And they were like, no, we're going to fade you out.
And I was like, no, that's cool.
But we're still human beings who need to like know when to stop playing.
And then a guy said he was going to cue us to stop and then didn't cue us stop.
And that's why people who were there, we were still playing during the out, what is it,
Outrunners?
Outrunners, yeah.
the Outrunner's entrance in the arena
So people were like what the fuck is going on
TV I don't think it translated that way
I watched it I watched the whole thing
You could not tell it all
From a home viewing point of view
It was flaw I was like shocked
At how well it went and then to know
How up in the air it actually was
Dude legitimate miracle
I don't think it could have gone better
Legitimately yeah yeah
And it was just like
Brody and I have
And Taylor
have been through so much together in our lives, you know?
Yeah.
And now we've been creating things together for so long that that moment existing forever,
even if it was the last three minutes of a broadcast before the pay-per-view,
that exists forever like that.
You can't take away that that happened.
It's just a beautiful thing to have gotten to do together.
So thank you, Brody.
Thank you, Dan.
It's awesome.
I went to the following Dynamics.
which was in Chicago at the Winters.
And I went alone like Stephen fucking Glansberg.
And I was just chilling.
It was Dan's birthday.
And that little angel came and got me.
And I went in the back a little bit.
It was my first time going to the back at anything like that.
And much, you know, I'm not going to share too much or whatever.
But like much like you said, it's very, things seem really up in the air.
Like, there are such pros that like everything is so casual.
I walked in and somebody was standing there
who I recognized right next to where Dan and I ended up
And I was like oh shit there's that guy
And then 20 seconds later he's in the ring
He was just like on his phone just like chilling
And it's just crazy
I guess it's kind of like us before
Yeah yeah for sure
Same thing for you and I are literally talking
As if we were right now
Yeah
And you're like they're ringing out
Waiting for you to walk on
It's awesome
But yeah I think it went really
were really well for you guys. I thought it was really cool. And then also a little bonus was
Buddy's four-way match closing out the pre-show was I was adjust and that was fucking sick.
That's the thing. If I could time travel to 2013 me and just be like, it's all good.
Dude, it is unreal, by the way, how young you sound on that recording. I know it's that long ago,
but it's still just like crazy how much your voice is just mature. I sound 18.
On sleep therapy.
I sound 19 on Mother's a Law.
And then I sound 83 on disharmony and a cool 43 on gaining purpose.
Maybe we'll finally find my actual age on these things.
We'll see someday.
How was the show then?
So it was great.
A lot of wrestling fans.
It's so interesting.
Which is a really interesting combination.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Like there's a lot that get it, you know.
There's wrestlers pitting hard.
That's cool.
That's awesome.
But, you know, it makes for what a sold-out show of pure H.C.
Right.
Right.
Violent, violent, violent, violent.
It's kind of like half as violent, but like twice as reactive maybe.
Yeah, totally.
I know exactly what you mean.
So it's a single-edged sword.
It's just a sword.
It's just a normal sword
Yeah, it's a nice sword
That's sick
I'm glad it all went well
You know
And it was really funny seeing
There was a moment
I don't know if you heard
Where Anthony was just behind the desk
The commentator desk on the pay-per-view
No way
He was just back there
Holy shit, that's incredible
Yeah just stuff like that
Where it was like
It was fun and I don't know
I don't know
Seeing him in person, he's the smallest single object I've ever seen.
So it's like Rizzler Chili.
Yeah.
No, dude, I was saying all day back there, I was like, he reminds me a chili.
The Rizzler reminds me exactly of my seven-pound chihuahua mix.
It's unbelievable.
I swear to God, they can back that up.
But, dude, it's really sweet.
You know, the meeting the Costco guys, AJ, the dad, sweetest guy.
Total pro.
In the back, he was meeting Adam Sandler's kids and shaking all their hands.
And he didn't know there, Adam Sandler's kids.
But he was shaking their hands individually and being like, nice to meet you, bring the boom.
Nice to meet you.
Bring the boom to every single one.
He's such a pro.
You can tell he's been just working and waiting for this his whole life.
And the Rizzler is, I don't know how to describe it other than,
it's the most charisma I've ever seen in a tiny dust-like object.
How old is he?
I think he's like six or seven.
It's too much Riz.
You forget.
He's got so much Riz and so much star power.
You forget he's a baby.
He's not a 38-year-old Italian man.
No, no.
That's what I thought.
But Big Justice is literally holding his hand,
walking him around the arena.
It's beautiful.
Little guy.
I've never seen something so small.
And him coming out with Big Show or Paul White is obviously.
And they were at catering together at the same table already.
So I've seen coming into that and seeing that image was like, holy shit.
This is the biggest guy and the smallest guy ever.
It's literally together.
Oh, little buddy from Jingle all the way.
Like it's literally.
It was real.
That he improv that.
Santa is real.
I've been saying.
Anyway.
So then, you know, then a week later,
Knocked loose is on Jimmy Kimmel.
Dude.
So what I was going to say is when you were mentioning at your show,
that's kind of half and half,
that reminded me of,
I went and saw Knocked Loose at the Aragon a few weeks ago now at this point.
And it was kind of that way in a,
there were people who were,
there were a lot of hardcore kids there.
Aragon ballroom is 4,000 cap.
That's a huge room.
So, so fucking big.
So you're, I don't know if there's 4,000 hardcore kids in Illinois, you know.
Right.
You're not in the whole state.
Or in the whole, maybe even in the Midwest, I genuinely don't know.
So you're not going to have 100% like the ratio is always going to change as it should.
I think that that's a good thing.
When you, you do see that thing where there's like push pit, sing along, couple hardcore pits.
people just booze in who only know the songs and who will now know the poppy song you know what I mean it's it's a very interesting thing dude did I talk about their show at all just about how I don't know but I mean that lineup uh yeah it's truly like a work of art it's you got military gun doing their thing lock the fucking drain is like the ultimate crowd pumper of yeah yeah and they'll they'll get anybody and then the garden the garden the guard
garden does their own weird art shit.
Yeah.
Art shit.
Yeah.
And then knocked loose just like killing it.
And their level of the production, the set, the lighting design and the shit the Taylor was doing.
And they were just describing how they were like a good example.
And I saw, I think I saw this on Alicia show with Brian where it was like, yeah, we were going to do scrimms of trees in like a forest or whatever.
And then it was like, why don't we just make trees?
and they just made fabricated a forest.
It's just like it's the most pro shit.
It looked awesome.
And the Kimmel show, I watched that live too.
And it was like, or not live.
I think it's a couple hours recorded at that point.
But it was like, that's exactly how they brought it at their show.
Like it was the exact same thing.
They did their thing on TV, which is great for everybody.
And I've seen like both.
I've seen people be like, this isn't going to do anything for anybody.
And that's just not how that works.
If that gets one person in hardcore in some way, even if it's a long road, it's a net positive.
It's a beautiful thing.
The example of some kids stayed up late watching this and is going to go to school and blah, blah, blah.
It's like, okay, yeah, maybe that isn't happening because kids aren't really watching television.
I don't watch television.
Fine.
I get that.
Yeah, but look at how it did on Twitter and shit.
That's exactly right.
No, it's on social media.
It's all over the place.
That is what they're going to see and check out, and that is a net.
I see both sides of the coin.
I see the net positive, see the net negative, whatever.
I do, or I guess it can't be, they're mutually exclusive.
But I think of it as a net positive overall.
100%.
I also think the thing that the factor people aren't thinking of is that knock loose is a ban that,
like on their big European tour that they're doing next after this Kimmel thing,
harm's way and pest control are on there.
Exactly.
those are the ways in which it grows everything overall exactly and they they do there's bands that don't do those things there's bands that have these wildly successful moments and then completely change their path and bring a bunch of random fuck or something with them this is clearly not the case so all there's many factors that must be considered and but the it's we've known this all along I believe we've championed them for the existence of the show and I know I
have personally. They, I don't, I won't hear any like,
through not a hardcore band. I'm like, I'm not going to hear that.
Yeah, the ethics are all there.
They are paramount. At the end of the day. Yeah. And that's,
they could, they're in the midst of their massive level up,
they could not spend all of this money on these new things leveling up their live
performance and just be complacent and keep that. But they're putting it all back into
it. And without oversharing, like, they have a pretty sizable crew that tours with them, and they're all hardcore kids.
Everyone in there. I saw it. There was multiple gods hate shirts on the tour. You know what I mean? It's like it's that's, they're keeping it in the family. It's a good thing. And one thing that I want to raise is like, okay, maybe the style of music that they're playing that's on national TV is not something that you think is going to catch on or think that should catch on. But those ethics,
and the way that that band operates and runs himself
is something that should catch on.
And that is overall a huge and great thing.
So what's what Hardlord's all about, baby?
All right.
We're going to transition now into question world.
Here we are.
If you haven't joined the Hardlord Discord,
what do you do?
This is where it happens.
This is where it happens.
We're in there from time to time.
This is where we, we, what do we do, Colin?
we gather we harvest hunter we hunt and gather on and gather in the discord uh so this is you know
join that and next time we do one of these you'll be part of it all right what do we got
what tuning is holy blade in e flat that's higher than i would think Alex got a pretty high register though
we wanted to keep it oh yes yeah true true um somebody asked about dead body playing house the black
of the ring how fucking awesome did it feel very awesome was the stage moving as you
were.
Stage was not moving.
They ratcheted it.
They kept it real safe.
But there was a moment I remember,
at first ringing out and hearing sound was like,
oh, thank God.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Like, okay, we're good.
We could hear ourselves by some miracle.
And I remember just look at, like, making,
I was like, I'm going to make a conscious effort to just look at Nate for a minute.
Fuck yeah.
And just take it in, you know?
Yeah.
Watch them from behind and then, like, looking up.
And it's like,
All right, yeah, this place is full. This is crazy.
Was, uh, was, was, was, what I didn't get tunnel vision, which that, that is the most people I've ever done anything.
I was going to ask, yeah, right.
So I was able to really like scan the room, take it in, enjoy it.
And it was, it was really special.
There's that, there is a moment. And I, I posted a little screenshot of it.
It's when you're doing a crazy neck move, which is, good Lord.
I'm hurting, man.
But Dan, there's a point where you could see Dan.
and he's literally like,
like, he's literally like scratching his head.
Just like, wow.
Like, it works.
He did that.
Yeah,
yeah.
So I hope,
I hope so.
And also,
yeah,
I get,
if anybody,
if anybody stuck around for the end of the pay-per-view,
there's a really funny moment where after Darby crashes into the,
the death rider's car,
where Dan,
dude,
you're doing,
dude,
you kept parking.
It's so fucking funny.
And then Darby pushes down.
So Josiah also works for ADD me now.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And Josiah was part of that squad that was like,
come on, Darby, what are you doing, man?
And Darby pushes Dan and Josiah just leaves.
He's like, I'm not getting pushed.
It's so good.
So fucking funny.
Yeah.
All right.
Top five releases from this year.
You will have to wait until the Hardlaw Awards to find that out.
We can't disclose.
Top three shows you played.
Wow.
Okay.
Sound of Fury was awesome.
I can't believe that that was still this year.
I would say that's number one.
Yeah, that's probably number one for me as well.
That feels like several years ago.
Yes.
Playing, I'm going to cheat a little bit and say playing with Hayprey in North Carolina on the Hayprey.
Like playing Not One Truth with the band.
For me personally was a very serious high point for me.
Big time.
And, oh, Outbreak Fest was.
fucking awesome.
I can't wait to finally play.
Yeah, you're gonna...
The new outbreak next year.
What are your other two?
I would say number three,
probably Twitchfits.
Yeah, it has to be, right?
Yeah.
That or FIA,
because that was Mike's first show back
and that was like...
That was the celebration.
Watching that, I was emotional watching that.
That was probably my...
I know I say this to you all the time
and it's a borderline bit.
That probably was my favorite time
seeing twitching tongues
Yeah
Because it just did mean
There was a lot to it
Yeah
There's a lot more to it
Yeah
Yeah
Number two I would say
Is maybe God's head
At the Blasco
Because that was just like
At the pre-show
That was perfect
Yeah
Dude
That was the best
I think I've ever played drums
That was fucking awesome
That was really good
The Haybreed song
Oh yeah
Yeah
Four guitars
Sean
Come on
Horrifying
Come on
We did it
What's
Knife asks
What is it about the best mosher's making the best music?
Why?
You know, we say that all the time, but I guess we don't elaborate.
Why?
But style and presence are as important as the sound of your voice.
You know how in a movie when it's like, like in Sicario, Alejandro, he's the best CIA asset because he worked for the other cartel.
You know, he was in there.
And it's kind of the same thing.
you're writing, you're making a part because you know what it's like to be in the pit.
You know, you're- That's very true.
You're visualizing that.
You're thinking pit-minded.
Exactly.
In this genre is the most important thing you can do.
It sure can be.
And so that's what I think it is.
I thought you saw a funny video recently of me moshing to Internal Affairs at the Dary in Sports Club.
Oh my God.
Here it is.
It's so awesome.
And Chris Mills is in there too.
James is in there somewhere.
that was when Marauder played
khaki shorts
yeah khaki shorts
baby what is that baby blue long sleeve
it's a mental long sleeve
they have oh that's cool
yeah it was a cool
cool longslee but yeah this is
one of the last
eras of me wearing shorts
like publicly
but my whole youth through band
is in the pit
which is what's cool is like
Chris and Kyle and Brad
the other guys were all
we're all in the pit
and this was before
harm's ways before few in the proud
this is way long ago
but it was friends
Mosh.
Yeah, literally.
And dude,
this lineup
And now you're all
harms.
It was so stacked.
This was
Internal Affairs
Donnie Brooke
Blacklisted's first time.
And that was when I saw
like scary,
like Joe hardcore,
like scary Philadelphia guys
moshing.
The killer played
and people were getting
like dragged out.
And then I left
before Marauder played
with Saab.
I didn't know.
I didn't know at the time.
I didn't know.
It's all right. You know now.
I was 15.
Yeah.
That's impressive.
Mount Rushmore of the Attitude Era.
Oh, good one.
Now, a question for you, Colin, because I've heard this.
Do you consider Sean Michaels part of the Attitude Era?
Yes.
Yeah, okay, thank you.
Because I've heard that, no, he was like the last,
and he was gone because he lost the, you know.
No, because the beginning of DX was a counter to NWO.
And Attitude Era is definitely, like, the mantle is on Steve Austin.
Yeah.
But, like, all of the, if it was just Steve Austin, it wouldn't have been anything.
Like that, like, it wouldn't have been as substantial.
So I, okay, I'm glad to hear you say that.
Austin.
Yep.
Rock.
Yep.
Kurt Engel.
Interesting.
I thought he would have been after Attitude.
The goat, dude.
No, no, no.
I'm not saying he's not.
I just thought he was later.
No, no.
Okay.
He was at the tail end of it, but like he was absolutely untouchable.
Mick Foley, probably.
Love it.
Great answers.
I'm going to say HBK, Austin, Rock.
I'm going to go take her because that's what, that's what kind of like his mystique and his shit with Kane and the brothers.
Yeah, I mean, I loved all that.
All that is that's what kept me like interested.
Was I needed the, like, weird, dark shit.
I needed that.
I think Austin is the greatest wrestling star of all time.
You think so?
Yeah.
He's, he, he, he, you talk to anybody who's like, I used to like wrestling, you know,
when Stone Cole was there.
Yeah.
Yeah, right.
Stone Cold and the Rock, they generally say.
The Rock is the greatest crossover wrestling star of all time, whether you like it or not,
whether you think John Cena is the funnier actor or Batista is the best actor, which is the case.
Which you're right.
Right.
The Rock is the greatest crossover wrestling star in history.
Kurt Angle is the greatest natural talent in history.
And Mick Foley is the greatest wrestling underdog in history.
I really like those answers.
So I would say the same thing with Austin and Rock.
Also, rock probably the best promo and best just like...
Period.
Like, I hated him.
Corporate Rock.
And then you loved him.
And then I loved him.
And then you hated it.
And then it was the Rock.
Because it was by his own design.
And the Rock and Sock Connection.
Are you kidding me?
Oh my God.
Come on.
But then I would say,
I would say Sean is my favorite
in ring talent
can make anybody look like a million bucks.
Yeah.
And then Taker just the greatest mystique
and fucking...
Greatest character.
And then the Ministry of Darkness
was that time.
I was all in.
It was all in.
True doubt.
Favorite radio station on a GTA game?
Whatever one had the hardcore one?
Oh, that was...
Max Penn and Cher Terror.
VCHC in GTA4?
Yeah.
Which was...
disc jockeyed by Keith Morris,
which is cool.
Insane.
It's just like cool that they were like,
oh,
we could get the guy from Black Flag and Circle Jerks.
Yeah.
That's cool.
To do the New York Park Station.
To do the New York Punk Station.
Dude,
it had underdog.
Yeah.
Come on.
It was crazy.
So I would love to know
who procured that playlist.
Me too,
and why wouldn't they do it again?
And why are we not the last floor?
Yeah, Rockstar.
If you're needing something for GTA6,
we're right here.
We're available.
We're very cheap.
It was so cheap.
Biggest accomplishments this year for Hardlore Plus respective bands.
Pause.
Shout out to the, there's the metal one from Vice City that had like anthrax, had Dio, had Danzig, had a bark at the moon.
Shout out to that one.
Honorable mention that one.
Accomplishment.
Biggest, biggest accomplishments this year for.
for hard lore and respective fans.
Holy Blade EP, psyched about that.
Proud of that.
For hard lore, I would say the entire New York Chronicles.
That was last year.
It was, but it came out this year.
Okay, good, good, good, I'm with you.
I would say that and honestly, the episode with Tom about 12 hits was...
That was a good one.
That's the one I've gotten the most personal feedback from,
from people who are like, hey, I don't watch the show.
Yeah, same.
But I watched that one.
I watched that and you did a really good job.
My mom said she had people messaging her.
Like on Facebook and stuff.
That's awesome.
I just listened to your son's show.
It's like, what the fuck?
Yeah, I would say that.
I would, I don't know, man.
It's just cool to hear how much people dig the show.
It's just cool.
That feels really nice.
This is like, we've been guy from band for 15 years.
and now we're a guy from show.
Yeah, which is, it's a gear change.
And I don't mind.
No, I don't mind.
It means a lot.
Yeah.
So if you think you're bothering us by saying, hey, we love the show, you're getting dapped.
You're not getting crapped.
Yeah.
Dap, not craft.
Dap, no crap.
Don't you worry.
I think for Harms Way, probably, when is this coming out?
So this will have come out after the bottom one show that is now sold out.
out. That's cool. It's nice to be able to pack a room in your hometown with your buddies.
Oh, man. Amen. This is our third year doing the 818 show. Yeah. And like that was so not a thing when we were growing up.
Totally. So to be able to contribute and create this thing out of thin air for the community that happens annually, we're very proud of that, especially on a record that is a damn near four years old now.
I swear to God I'm working on it
I think also
Twitching Tongue's just still being able to play at all
which is kind of it's like it's nice that
we've got these four albums out
which is a lot of music
you know some bands don't make it there
that we it's like we can finally
play off those
and then when a new thing comes that'll be great
but it's not as urgent
because we've got a lot for people to discover
Yeah
What stupid song do you sing to your dogs or cats?
Oh boy
I know a lot
Yeah, I know you got a lot
I got a lot
What do you got?
Let me hear
There's well there's a
There's a rendition I do of the Beach Boys
Little St. Nick
To Zoe called Little Best Friend
She's my little best friend
I'm not gonna sing it here
I'll record it when she does
But there's a couple
There's a couple other ones
But that's the main one that comes from
Do you know in Billy Madison
When Veronica Vaughn sings
And she goes Billy, sweet Billy boy
So I say I have squid as my cat says
Squitty sweet squiddy boy
I don't know
It just came you know I don't know
Don't I have a nice rock
Yeah
But yeah and I also
Nicknamed for Metallicat is
Cronk for it's just long story
And any single syllable word
You can fit into like anything
So whatever
song of the day is, which today is just like, deck the halls or something because of what the
Patreon is going to be. And it's like, I'll deck the halls with balls of cronking.
Like, it doesn't matter. It just fits into anything. So it's, it's obsessive.
The anatomy of a pet nickname is so fascinating when you think about how you got there.
Okay. You know, you ready for this?
Chili?
Yeah, please.
Chili.
Yeah, I know what it is.
And I, yeah.
Chili?
Chilium.
Bill
because of Bill
because of William
William yeah
Bilbo
Bilbo which is like
Bilbo is a perfect nickname
for a small dog
100%
and I almost never call him chili
I get home and I go
Bilbo
and he runs down
I never call Metallicat
Metallicat he's Metallicat
and then I went on a tour once
came back he got fat so he was kind of
chunky
then he was chunky
and then he was cronk
and the further adaptation is Walter Cronkite.
Walter Cronk.
We leave it at Cronk.
It's weird to call the cat a three-letter or three-celad-old.
No, it's too much.
Too many.
Metallic Cat.
Four.
Too many.
Two max.
Yeah, two max.
One is a dream.
Yeah, Cronk.
Somebody asks,
The thing you're most proud of with the podcast this year,
we kind of answered that already, but that it's still going.
Yeah, dude.
You know, that we've been able to figure out something to talk about every week?
There's a lot of weeks in the year.
Tired.
But I love it every time.
Yeah, it's awesome.
I feel very lucky.
Is it annoying if people like your older work than more than whatever you're making slash into at the time?
I don't think it's annoying.
I think a lot of response, personal response to art is so dependent on your mindset when you
discover it, that you're, you know, no band's album is, you can't hope to be like, I'm going to
make something that everybody's going to like more, because that's just not how art works.
And I don't, it's not annoying to prefer something. What I do think is, is, like, to write off a
band as though you didn't like the first two records, because the second two, or the third and fourth
record are like, not your thing. It's like, well, they're still there. I,
I do think, and then the thing that sucks is if you love a band's first two albums.
Yeah.
Right?
And then you, you don't really, you're not sure about the third one.
You don't care for the fourth one.
Therefore, you hate the first two albums now.
Yeah, it's just like, what?
That still exists.
Yeah.
And they're still good.
And they're probably still going to play tracks.
Exactly.
So just, yeah, I don't understand the like, there, dude, there are a lot of bands who's
later records I don't really care for it, but I fucking
move offence. Like, exactly.
It doesn't make sense. Metallica is my favorite
shirt, you know? Yeah, yeah.
Let's see.
Do you, will you and Bo ever do that dark industrial
project that always gets brought up? I would love to.
I could see it happening next year.
Dude, it's just like...
Time. It's just time, man.
There's only so much. Colin has got
the fucking, the minds of Moria going on
all the time. He's got so many irons
in the fucking fire. That's too many.
And I'm just...
My New Year's resolution?
Yeah.
Say no to stuff more.
Wow.
And drastically reduce my creative output.
Yeah, you got a lot.
I'm gonna have less.
How did you and Bo first discover hardcore?
I'm trying to think of when is the first time...
It was...
It was...
The same day I met John Caution and James.
We went to his show.
My friend Remy drove me and Chris
and two other friends to his show.
show at the Darien Sportsplex where that clip was from.
And it was
Blue Monday,
I think Desperate Measures was like the reason we went.
Sick.
And a couple local bands.
And that was just somebody telling you,
we're going to see these bands.
You're going to see them you're going to like it.
It was always Chris.
Chris always knew about shows coming up.
I don't know how.
But I think he was, you know what, there was Chicagohardcore.net.
It was like the local message board.
Chris found it and was just,
just like, oh, there's a show happening that we could drive to.
It's in the suburbs.
Okay.
And that was when I was like, oh, this isn't, like, the lights are on.
This is a DIY show.
We're in a sports, we're in like a classroom, essentially.
Right.
And that was the first time where I was like, oh, this is, this is hardcore.
I'm not at the Metro, see an American nightmare or something.
Like, this is like a little, like, this is a little secret.
This is a little secret society.
No one knows about this.
There's 80 people here.
Sure.
that was that was
so it was like Chris and then going to that
show oh it's stand-in fight
I bought the edge hoodie off of wrench
from 10-year-d-fight which I have
somewhere it's the size youth large
gad damn
how did you let me look up
let me look up when this came out
because that'll uh
I was five years old
which is I think is well documented
at this point
um
our oldest our eldest
our eldest brother Aaron
Aaron
Bristol, Connecticut,
went to school with the Grippo brothers,
who are Connecticut legends.
One of them, Matt, the younger of the two, I think,
left a burned CD with a bunch of stuff on it,
first of which was Grimlock Thirst for Immortality,
which the opening track Mountain of Power
is just Bell,
and then Paul muting for about three minutes.
And I knew.
And it was like Taylor first was like,
this is it.
Yeah.
And he told our dad,
I want that.
Dad, how do I hear more of that?
And he called it Jun Jun.
Dad, I want to hear Junjun.
I don't know how else to describe it.
Yeah.
And he wanted Ride the Lightning.
But my dad was like, that's crap.
We're getting Soundgarden.
Wow.
Both bangers.
Yeah, was it the Soundgarden record?
Yeah, it was super unknown.
Yeah, I mean, there's some Joe John on there for sure.
I mean, he put Spoon Man on and I'm going, I'm loving.
I was all in.
So Spoon Man rocks, SoundGarden Rocks, but Grimlock was the band that for Taylor and I at the same,
in the same moment we're sitting there like jaws dropped.
I'm like fucking fist deep pulling boogers out.
Yeah.
But I can't believe when I'm hearing.
Wow.
I got to get the boogers out of my nose so that my ears can hear better to hear these palmutes for the first time.
What was like your-
So Grimlock was the man that did it.
And when I tell people from Massachusetts that, they laugh.
Really?
But I love Grimlock.
What was the first like, like, DIY show you went to?
Taylor's band One Round Left, which was like a tiny local band in California.
It's kind of a sick band name, actually.
One Round Left?
Just because, like, it could be a bullet.
It could be at a fight one round left.
And they embraced both.
They had shirts with the guys on them and they had shirts with like a revolver on them.
Pretty dope.
Yeah, pretty sick.
Yeah.
They were pretty good.
There was a lot of straight ruckus parts that we just used again.
So that seeing them for the first time was my first time like experiencing live hardcore.
Real hardcore.
Where was the show?
Do you remember?
It was either at Studio S or the Colbolt.
I get them confused.
to which one, which one, which one, which band I was seeing at which one, because there was a
fight everyone show a few months later. That was like my, my other first show, where I think
that was at Studio S. Gotcha. Studio S was a warehouse and an alley in North Hollywood where
terrible things happened. Yeah. It was amazing. Incredible place. My first band played there
six months later,
metal core band called Buried in Silence
Never wrote a single lyric,
just made noise.
You would never, you would never know.
Like noise?
Just like torture, baby.
Really?
I did the same thing.
But I was 14.
While the exposure of knock loose getting
is remarkable and well deserved,
do you feel this odd pullback and forth
that hardcore is traditionally built
on an underground anti-pop culture ethos?
Of course.
Dude, but that is anti-pop culture.
Like it doesn't matter
Because somebody was my dad
My dad knows better
But like my uncle or aunt
What is this
Watching that would be like
What the fuck is this? And they change the channel
Like I understand that it's on
A national late night show
I get that aspect but like
But that's still insane
So was X games
Not gonna be the norm
So it was like X games and MTV 2
Headbanger's ball it's like
Tony Hawk sold a billion copies
Tony Hawk is as mainstream as it gets
and you got all kinds of hardcore
and metal bands on that. You got ended out of that.
You got cosmic joke out of that.
Yeah, come on.
I could go on forever, baby.
I just don't think it matters.
Now, everybody's overthinking.
Everybody's overthinking it.
And here's the thing.
There will always be DIY hardcore.
Nothing that Nockleuze is doing
is going to take away from that
or like a negatively effect.
If anything, it makes it stronger
because they go, fuck that.
Yeah.
So it's like, who do you?
So they're really helping everybody subliminally.
What was your favorite moment with Bo this year?
And why was it so memorable?
This year.
What a question.
Yeah.
I mean, I think Family Feud was like unbelievable.
Family feud was awesome, especially some of the like crazy coincidences that happened.
Yeah.
They were not coincidence.
We'll call it that.
It was all the master plan that can.
I just mean to say they weren't
planned. Like that wasn't staged.
Yeah.
I love the two
loop ads we did. In
person ones. Dude, the one.
Those were so fucking funny.
How's it going, but I haven't seen any long time.
That was running up to you.
There was like 10 straight minutes of laugh
outtakes. I like that.
Dude, I really like, this doesn't
really have to do with like the show
per se, but when you, me and Mac went to
Universal. That was incredible.
It was so fun
That was so fucking awesome
Can't wait to do it again
I was in dire pain
I threw my back out during Weapon X
And I was hobbling all over that park
I was having a ball
It didn't matter
Yeah didn't fucking
We gotta go back
We gotta spend two days there this year
I gotta see the new park dude
Is it done?
Well it's supposed to be done next year
Yeah
Fucking horseshit
You know they're adding
Donkey Kong country
To their Super Mario world
It's gonna be unbelievable
And then did you see
What the other
part of the new park is?
It's the monsters universe shit.
Or like the, you know, vampire, Dracula.
Universal monsters, yeah.
It's going to rip.
It's going to be the greatest in the world.
I cannot wait.
Can't wait to go back.
Sky, yes or no?
Skah?
Always.
Sky without horns except for Boston's.
That's my stance.
Sky with horns.
Now more than ever is my answer.
My favorite type of ska slash reggae is.
is time bomb by Rancid.
There's some horns in there, probably, tucked back.
Way back there.
Taylor and I were discussing the other day.
I think Rancid might be one of the coolest band names of all time.
100%.
You get everything you're going to get from the band in the name.
And what's crazy is she was saying that if you look up like synonyms for Rancid,
like putrid, rotten.
Like they don't hit as well.
No, but they're all also band names now.
But kind of like don't do the same thing as Rancid.
For some reason.
But is that because rancid is so sick that we think of the word differently?
I think the literal enunciation of the word does rancid.
Just like does something.
Dude, you know what else rock that we did this year was Avian and punk rock museum back to back?
Oh, shit.
That was this year.
That was this year.
That was two of our greatest things we've ever made in two days.
Man.
Pretty cool.
It was a lot of fun too.
I loved the punk rock museum
I loved that we were like
all right we got a guide
alright we don't got a guide let's go
we're the guy
let's make some shit up
it was fucking awesome
yeah I had a great time
I had a great time
I think that is the
thing
the like punk rock museum
related thing
like tour on YouTube
with the most views
which is pretty cool
oh really
we're the number one tour
of the punk rock museum
awesome
at Riot Fest this year
they had in
a little mock-up of the
Fireside Bowl
they had items
from the punk rock museum
like things that you and I saw
were at Riot Fest this year
it's wild
it was wild yeah
I just keep thinking
about how all the misfit stuff
says on loan from John Brannon
who is the singer of negative approach
to the uninformed
so fucking cool
and they look like same time
they were around the same time
but he just loved them
there's a set of the misfits
where like in between softs
some dude from a, like a TV, a radio show
was doing an interview with them live on stage
and they were just like doing an interview
with the audience there.
It's like in the set.
And negative approach also played that show.
It's the best.
Unbelievable.
Hardcore trends we need to leave in 2024.
Twitter.
Dude is over.
It's so fucking shot.
It's shot, dude.
It's crazy how much better the world would be
if we all just fucking got off of it.
It's so.
such a pile of shit.
Fuck you,
Elon.
Twitter sucks.
People who
actively call it X.
Get his
fucking tiny little
cock out of your mouth.
Shut the fuck up.
Things.
Place sucks.
I'm trying to think of actual
trends within the community that I
dislike.
You know?
Because I can't yuck someone's
yum.
I just
think the
the mindset of, dude, here's, here's one.
Don't worry about gaykeeping.
Just don't worry about it.
When I was fucking 14, 15, I was welcomed into the scene by all the older guys who were
younger than I am now.
You know what I mean?
They were in their 20s and I was a teenager.
But the thing, I think people's concern is how great the barrier of entry is now, you know?
But you can get in from so many places, much like a.
playing on Jimmy Kimmel.
Sure.
But how many
stories have you heard
of like,
oh, this scene
was really good
like four years ago
and then everyone
moved away
from college
and then the scene
kind of died.
Sure.
That is the thing,
the ebb and flow
is the thing that happens.
But I just don't think
like,
I don't think,
Girl of Biscuits
have a song
called No Reason Why.
And it goes,
there's no reason why
to beat up on the poser skin.
There's no reason why
to keep the little kids
from getting in.
And it's just all about like
You don't you just don't
Just if somebody asks you something
Just like provide like share it's a community
Like maybe you can be the one who keeps them coming around
Totally
None of us got into hardcore knowing all of our shit
And that's just a ridiculous
We all got here from a grimlock CD
That people laugh at you about later on
Sometimes you're 5 sometimes you're 15
Sometimes you're 25
Totally
And that's sad
But it's you know
You end up here nonetheless, and that's what it's all about.
Yeah.
And Judgment also has a song called No Reason Why, and the lyrics are all in Japanese, except for the words, no reason why.
So it's pretty cool.
Do you have any trend that you're particularly...
Trend?
I think if you army crawl on stage, I should be able to stomp your fucking head, like, jelly, you know?
That's for me.
to crawl on.
I also just spit there.
What are you doing?
Like death proof.
Like when she'd
they crush Kurt Russell's head.
Jelly.
No,
you're fine.
I think everybody just,
if something's a trend,
trends are looked back at
stupidly a year later.
Yeah.
So trends don't live forever.
Just let people do what they want.
Some trends I would like to see
is like better stage diving,
something we've been championing for a long time.
Run and jump.
Don't fall.
You know.
I just want to hear more great new bands.
How about we focus on that?
That's the trend.
The best.
The trend should be great new bands.
Don't worry about writing the hardest part.
Don't worry about writing the...
Just also be your fucking selves.
You know?
You don't need a lie.
You don't need to be the hardest band ever,
but like twig-twig breakable limbs of plenty.
you know, little stick, scrawny men.
Just play what you know, okay?
You can talk about how school is hard.
It's fine.
It is fine.
That's hardcore too.
Somebody said favorite type of dog in all caps.
Dude, you know what?
I have kind of the most cliched answer,
but every time I see a golden retriever doing anything,
it makes my day.
They're very kind.
Dude, they just look, like when they're just holding something
and the tails going and saying, I'm happy.
I'm so happy.
That's the best thing.
So that's my...
I'm a big schnauzer guy.
Whether they're a miniature or giant
or regular.
I love them all.
The giant schnauzers is one of the craziest creatures
I've ever seen in person.
It's the thing that should not be.
But somehow it'd be.
Wild.
Favorite horror movie of the year?
Well, I got tickets on Christmas Day
for Nosephratu.
So I'm sure that'll be your answer.
I'm hoping that will be my answer because it's the one I've seen this year.
Yeah.
I mean, I talk about it all the time.
It's probably oddity.
Over the substance?
I thought.
Yeah, I love the substance.
But Audity really rocked me in a, in a, for horror.
Like, I'm horrified.
Yeah, right, right.
By this.
It's got to be oddity.
Fucked me up.
Do you, are you going to see Miss Ratu?
Oh, of course.
I almost went yesterday.
Oh, really?
Like an early screening?
Damn.
Yeah.
So early.
I know.
We're going Elmo Draft House.
Yeah.
You have a great time.
You get some wings.
Fuck, yeah.
Chiro Pop-Bord.
Maybe a mozzarella stick.
Beautiful.
Can't wait.
How difficult is it to come up with fresh new music after a double-digit number of years
and a genre that can be very derivative by itself?
Where is the middle ground between repeating yourself and experimenting too much?
Incredible question.
It is extremely difficult.
And that's why I start some.
many new bands because now what I used to do was one band would be my way of getting out every
kind of idea which which people were did not react well to sure now I have a different
avenue for like every extreme thing I can possibly think of you got all the stones
they're all there so if I have something that doesn't fit with one I can easily
place it in the other of course
And that's that to me is the solution.
People think I'm crazy.
He doesn't show me bad.
When in reality, I'm sane for that.
Because now they can all be their purest form.
The only thing I think is crazy about that is that they're all active.
Yeah, but act, but define active, you know?
Practice.
Yeah, practice fucking suck.
Dude, practice is the, I got practice tomorrow night.
I can't stand it.
I do too.
For both.
For two of them.
I'm already thinking about it.
Practice sucks, man.
It's the worst.
But there's,
I like the meme that's going around today on stories.
Yeah, it was amazing.
It's very good.
Here it is.
Beautiful.
And the only people I see in the screen captures of it are all in your bands.
Yes.
Or like,
you can tell they're like the guy in their band.
Yeah.
You know,
it's amazing.
Somebody brought up the hope that things like knock loose on Kimmel would lead to a resurgence
of music programming on empty.
TV. If they revived Headbanger's Ball and asked you two to host it, what would you say?
I'd say when and where, dude.
I would say, for one, there's no two people more qualified.
Two, yes.
They offer this to us. We say, you've made a great selection.
Yes.
Yeah. I would say, how dare you make such a great decision?
because there's no two people more qualified.
Like, I'm gonna, for some reason,
I would think to sell us even more
after receiving the offer.
Yeah.
But MTV, if you're listening,
there's no two men more qualified and yes.
I think if,
if you really had the autonomy
to pick the bands
and there wasn't pressure from,
you know, whatever, like,
even Jost-Lad had to do.
I would understand,
I think that has to come with it.
It's like,
yeah, labels are like,
hey, we've got this coming up.
Okay, this is this new thing.
But also let me do my thing.
Yeah.
Ball.
So there's got to be a ratio, like a 75, 25, 25 kind of thing.
But if you could do it, I think it would be worthwhile.
Yeah.
I think it would be worthwhile.
But they're not letting go of fucking reality bullshit.
No, I mean, dude, ridiculousness kills all that.
It's, they don't need anything else.
How can that be?
Listen, I love Rob Deerick, but I don't get it.
That show I don't get.
It never clicked with me.
I like Rob Deerdeck.
I loved.
Big Black.
Dude.
That's one of the greatest entertainers to ever live.
The Man Pond?
I saw him once.
Did you know that?
What was he doing?
He was at Woodfield Mall.
He was doing a signing, but I saw him walking.
And the line for the signing was insane.
It was at finish line.
He was like doing a meeting, right?
But I physically saw him.
It was right before he died.
But Robin Big was incredible.
And I love Fantasy Factory, too.
Oh, yeah.
Both shows.
Outstanding.
He's a, he's a, he's a, he's a historic grinder.
He's incredible.
Big Black was genuinely one of the funniest people to ever live.
So fucking funny, dude.
RIP.
Top five album closing songs.
This feels like a whole episode.
I don't know if we can give this up.
Should we write that one off?
I think we'll say, coming soon,
Hardlors' best favorite album closing song.
Have we not done album closers?
No.
Wow.
Coming in January.
Yeah.
So we should do, maybe we should do openers and closers.
We've done openers.
We did openers.
We did openers and not intros, right, right, right, right.
Right, we did open.
Closers.
Could you guys give us at one confirmed guest for the new year?
Yeah, we already said, we already spoiled Porter last week,
so that Mark Porter from Floor Punch is happening.
Jeremy Bollum, too shamora.
He's coming on very soon.
Todd Jones, Nails, coming on very soon.
One more do you want?
We'll probably have missing link on early next year, you know.
We're all coming.
Brady Drake, she's coming.
Full episode.
Haven't asked her yet, but she's in.
Top five hardcore songs by Death Metal Bands.
Angel of Disease by Morbid Angel.
Hardcore songs by Death Metal Bans?
Yes.
Like where you listen to it and you go, this is a fucking hard person.
Sennotaph by Bolt Thrower.
Okay.
You'll hear a couple familiar riffs in that.
And Scourge of Iron by Camel Cor.
Dude, I was going to say Scrooge of Iron.
but I didn't want to be like
That's pure death metal
But that I hear it
It's a fucking hardcore
Bull thrower has several answers
Oh yeah
Kill chain is very
Bouncy
Very core
Yeah
If I were run into either of you guys
Would you put me in a choke hold
For a pick
I would prefer not to
But if you ask me in the moment
I'll probably say yes
If I'm saying now
I'll be bummed about it
Yeah I don't want to touch
I don't want like touching
And if it's
I'll dab you
Yeah.
But your neck, that could stank.
And if the waiver and permission is given on video, we can do that.
That's fine.
Right, right.
So true.
For an entire month, you can only eat one meal, one dessert, watch one TV show or movie, and listen to one album or artist.
What are your picks?
For a meal?
In an Outburger.
Dessert?
Well, hold on.
The question here is, will I still be skinny after the end of this?
Am I allowed to still be skinny?
Let's just say for the sake of...
I got shirts I need to fit in now.
Then, yeah.
For the sake of an interesting discussion, yes.
I get to stay skinny.
In and Out Burger is the meal.
The dessert is the Crembley crepe from millet crepe.
Fuck!
Yep.
And the one TV show or movie is the Muppets Christmas Carol since it's December.
And the one album or artist is...
Since it's December, bad religion.
All right, let's see.
The one movie...
meal. It's going to be Chipotle just because I know I can...
You get to be skinny.
But dude, I don't have... I'm landlocked.
I'm okay, Portillo's. Fine. If I get to be skinny, Portillo.
That's a great answer. Portillo's. That makes more sense.
Yeah.
Dessert, it's going to be crumble.
Because, hey, that's a different thing every week.
Yeah. That's true.
You ever see, dude, society just has to accept that crumble is good, you know?
Yeah. So we got it last night.
They have a strawberry crinkle is what it's called right now.
It's a cookie that is the strawberry Pop-Tart.
Warm.
Like, I would never eat that, but I understand the appeal.
It's outstanding.
I do think that their straight-up chocolate chip cookie is like untouchable.
I cannot believe it.
I really like insomnia.
But as long as I need the goo, I like the goo.
I need the goo.
I understand.
I'll bake that cookie for me.
I understand that people think it might be too.
Put me at risk.
Yeah, put me at risk.
Yeah.
Plus TV show or movie?
Lord of the Rings trilogy.
No, Sopranos.
Sopranos, legitimately.
And actually, in December,
that's typically when I watch the Sopranos,
that actually fits.
Something about it's very Christmas-e to me.
I don't know why.
New Jersey, it's cold all the time.
Yeah.
And artist,
do the NAC King Cole discography.
For December?
Yeah.
Great.
Dude, he's got so many Christmas bangers.
It's out of control.
Speaking of Christmas bangers
For the Patreon of this month
Which is probably out by now
But if you haven't signed up for it
It's out by now
It's out by now
If you haven't signed up for it
You should
We're discussing and ranking
The best Christmas songs of all time
Think about that
That's right
I got 74
Seventy-four
Bangers
Is Hot Lord just Scooby-Doo cosplay
100%
Who's who
You're Velma
I would say
I'm a little bit of Velma
And a little bit of Shaggy
you're a little bit of Daphne and a little bit of Scooby
and Sean Se is Frith
and and Brody is scrappy
Yeah
Oh yeah absolutely
That's pretty good
What is the hardest each of you have laughed this year
There's a couple
Sometimes Lana sends me like reels or TikToks every night
Yeah
And there's a couple that absolutely obliterate me
The one that I revisit the most is the Gigi in Milan
Italy in like 2018 one.
You know what I'm talking about?
Oh my God,
Ging-Ging!
I could, I'll watch that every day and laugh.
But of this year specifically.
Oh, man.
You know, it's always something like you're in the van and somebody just says something
and you're in a silly mood.
And it's probably something I can't repeat publicly, you know.
But I would like to think together.
Yeah, well, it was our hardest laugh this year together.
Probably
I know what our hardest laugh ever is
I mean it isn't something we can talk about
The poll
Manchester
Oh my God
But perhaps something in
Oh dude the fucking pole
Oh my God
Dude I think Frank Castle
Beat beat the pole
Yeah I think we were laughing for two days
I feel like AVN
We were just like giggles
The whole day
Because it was so uncomfortable
That we're all just
Yeah
I can't think of a specific thing.
We have the Pee-Haha.
That really popped me.
No, it's definitely just something somebody said on Fortnite one night or something that I can't remember.
Are festivals worth it in terms of pay, merch sold fans gain?
Yeah.
100%.
They're the best.
They're the best.
And there's several bands that's exclusively how they're able to operate.
Yeah.
For better for worse, it's it's a thing.
is there a breakthrough point where you have to be so far up to bill so to speak for it's worth it yeah i would say yeah
i think it's in it depends sometimes your pain of truth and you're a year in and your second to last
but oftentimes it's like a band finally getting their flowers you know my favorite
so it's like you're you're getting you're getting recognized for the work you've done already
i love particularly f y a is really good at it and i think ldb
pretty good at it where it's like, you'll get there early
because this band's opening. And people fucking
show up. And what's cooler than that?
Nothing. It's very smart.
Fests are
Fests are
90% positive,
10% negative, I would say. Yeah.
And they're great.
Is there any specific moment from a song
or album this year that
made you think, damn, I wish I came up
with that? Yeah, all the time.
Let me check.
song or album this year.
I need to tell you what I'll tell you what'll make you do that is learning 15 misfits
covers.
Yeah, no shit.
You go, what the fuck?
How did you do that?
Still can't believe the ghoul's night out.
That the hell is where you want to be.
Oh my God.
Just up, just ascending the whole time.
It doesn't.
How did you do that?
How did you know to do that?
It's insane.
I think the new Paul Bearer record,
really scratched and itch
that I've had for years
just of like
beautiful melodic doom
fueled by emotion
is like
that's my
that is oftentimes
my most listened to genre
beautiful melodic doom
spurned from emotion
so yeah
that that record really really resonated with me
I would say
the missing link record
yeah
That hit, that just gave me what I, really what I wanted.
Yeah.
And it's heavy and hard without going over the top.
And there's just, dude, the fucking gridiron song.
I don't know.
There's just like.
Yeah, it's a banger.
It's just awesome.
I really like that record.
And that's, that has become my like, I don't know what to listen to, but I want to listen to something heavy.
With the exception of, dude, Colin, our playlists for the guest vocal episode.
Oh, it's, I've been listening to it for days.
It's so good.
It's insane.
I've been truly just on repeat at the gym for days.
I put it on this morning as I was like getting ready.
That was insane.
I just put it on.
It's awesome.
Truly out of control.
Who would be the host of the Harlow Roast?
Oh, God.
It would be Brody King and it would fucking suck.
Dude, it would be Brody King and it would be Alec.
It would be brutal.
They would, I would cry.
I would weep.
horrible. Yeah, it can never happen. I'm not built
for that, dude. I can't do that.
No, no, no. It has to be
some kind of
like reverse thing
like to get Ann Coulter on or something
like they did with that one, you know? Yeah, right.
Where she wouldn't do the roast, but she was a guest
but everybody just roast to her instead.
It'd have to be some kind of, something like that.
I'm not strong enough for it. Not good.
Yeah, that's fair. What
Muppet would do the best spin kick?
Miss Piggy, 100%. You think so?
Well, I know she does that.
She does Kung Fu.
It's Miss Piggy.
I'm just thinking, animal.
Animal.
He's got that dog in him.
For sure.
I mean, it would be good.
But Miss Piggy is literally like a classically trained martial artist.
Martial artist.
Okay.
Fair enough.
So there's no doubt in my mind.
Ooh, this is fun.
As people who have toured a lot, do you think you can name all 50 states?
Absolutely.
You could?
I think I do believe you could.
I don't know that I can.
I have no doubt.
Do you want to try?
Yeah.
Do you want me to go?
you want you to go.
No, I want to go because I don't think I can do it.
Okay.
Just start in an area and work your way down.
Okay.
I'm ready.
Maine.
Ding.
Vermont.
New Hampshire.
Connecticut.
Rhode Island.
Massachusetts.
New York.
Pennsylvania.
Ohio.
Wyoming.
That's 10.
You're jumping.
Regents.
Blazing.
Yeah, I know.
Nebraska.
Okay.
Illinois.
Iowa.
Arkansas.
Mm-hmm.
Alabama.
Mm-hmm.
We're going back around.
I got you.
Georgia.
North Carolina.
South Carolina.
Very good.
Uh, Florida.
Mm-hmm.
Huge.
Huge.
It's a big one.
Big one.
Did I get the whole East Coast?
Nope.
Missed a big one?
Couple.
Mm-hmm.
Maybe.
I ended at, what, Pennsylvania?
Yeah.
Oh, Maryland?
Very good.
That's 20.
20.
Killing it.
Yep.
East.
We'll go back.
We'll go back there later.
Okay.
I got Georgia,
Texas, New Mexico,
Arizona,
Nevada.
Nevada.
California.
25.
Huge.
You're halfway.
Halfway.
Fuck.
Oregon.
Washington.
Montana.
Very good.
I say Idaho already?
I think I did.
Nope.
Idaho?
Fuck.
Come on, Poppy.
Colorado?
Very good.
That's 30.
That was 35.
No, it was 30.
No, it's 30.
I'm stuck, man.
Utah.
Yep.
31.
Hmm.
Mm-hmm.
Mm-hmm.
All right.
So at 31,
at 31, you tell Batman
when you want him to come in.
No, no, I don't want him yet.
All right.
I got this.
I'm looking for the signal.
Michigan.
Very good.
Minnesota.
Mm-hmm.
Those are big ones.
Those are big ones.
I swear to God,
that was 37.
I don't think that was 30.
This is 33.
But I believe.
Wisconsin.
Very good.
Alaska.
Very good.
Hawaii.
35, 36.
Forget about those.
14 more?
Mm-hmm.
Seems like a lot.
Mm-hmm.
And I'm missing some East Coast ones still, you said.
Mm-hmm.
Are you ready?
Yeah, hit me.
Delaware.
Oh, Delaware, huge.
Virginia.
Classic.
West Virginia.
I remember that one.
Tennessee.
Huge.
Kentucky.
Yeah.
Indiana.
Oh, I never remember that.
Mississippi.
Oh, that's where my dad was born.
Louisiana.
Mm-hmm.
Oklahoma.
I would have gotten there.
I would have gotten there.
I talk about Tulsa all the time.
North Dakota.
Classic.
South Dakota.
Forgot about that one.
You did say Iowa, Missouri.
I did.
Yeah.
Missouri.
Missouri.
And then now we got two more, and I kind of wish I was writing them
down because I'm a little.
But let's think here.
Mr. Big Brain.
I just should have been writing them down.
You pulling up a map?
Yeah.
I know they're East.
Yeah, I got all that.
You got Vermont.
You got New Hampshire.
You got Maine.
You got the two off Continentals.
I think we've named them all.
I think we just lost count.
You think we lost count?
Oh.
No, there's a big one.
There's two that should be missing.
if I was counting correctly.
Okay.
Give me a sec.
Give me a sec.
You said Montana.
I see one missing, I think.
This is the funniest segment in the history of the show.
What's the one missing?
New Hampshire.
No, you said New Hampshire right away.
Did I?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Absolutely, I did.
Connecticut.
Did you say Massachusetts?
Oh, yeah.
Which makes sense.
I don't think we missed any.
Okay, so maybe I was too off.
I think we just lost count.
Maybe I was too off in my county, my bed.
Well done.
So if you're from the state, we missed.
I don't know what to sign.
Scream.
You said Georgia.
You said Arkansas.
No, I don't know.
I think we just both lost Canada.
Yeah.
I think so.
Anyway.
Yeah, we can do it.
As I digress.
Something important to actually talk about is manscape.
Dude.
And maybe I would have been able to remember all 50 states if I had used my crop

There is, I don't know his name.
There is a Godzilla monster that is a big turtle with big, like, teeth.
Yes, hang on.
Yeah, would you mind?
I don't know his name off the top of my head, but I always liked him.
I believe you're thinking of Gamera.
I think I am.
Yeah.
Gamera.
Wait.
Isn't that right?
Let me make sure.
Gamora?
Gamoah?
No, no.
They're like, none of them are from Godzilla.
Giant.
I think you're thinking of, I think it's his name is Gamera.
Okay.
Yeah.
That's a good.
That's a great thing.
I have a little, I have a little figurine of him.
Yeah, this is absolutely him.
He's not on island of monsters or whatever?
Yeah.
Yeah.
He's in New Age of Monsters for sure.
Okay, cool.
So there you go.
I've had an affinity for that guy since I was a little kid.
I just think he's cool.
I just love the shell.
I just like him.
Yeah.
I like turtles.
Same.
Mine would be Hedora.
Which one is that?
Just a little trash guy.
Yeah?
It's covered in goo and slime.
Just gum.
Cool as fuck.
King Adora is obviously.
You ever know it as well?
How often you watch the movie speed?
It's been a while, but, you know, I know it well.
Right in the beginning when Sandra Bullock is talking to Cameron from
fucking Sarah Spuehler or Ferris Bueller
And she's like
Ah something I got gum on me
Gum
So that she could move seats
It's an incredible part
And you just reminded me of it
Natural
You're just thinking about it
Just thinking about it
Somebody asked if we'll get part two's
From guests like Josta or Justice
So that's I would love to know
Which ones you guys would like to hear
Because we would love to do that
Because frankly
Probably the worst part about
doing the show is figuring out what we're going to do.
Yeah.
So if you guys tell us what you want, we can probably make it happen.
Will there ever be a hard law interview with SSD?
Dude, I would love to.
There's only one guy to talk to and it's Al.
And Al, I don't think he's in the best health.
I was talking to him for a little bit.
Like last, about this time last year, he sent me the SSD book.
It's awesome.
But I know he's struggling with some stuff with some.
some cancer and, you know, he's going through it.
So I don't, you know, it's all the best to Al.
Hope you rest up.
And when you're, when you're ready, let's go.
God, I would love to.
If you haven't, though, I would like to put something over.
Pat, friend of the show from Havehart, has a sit down in person interview with Al that's on
YouTube.
And it's outstanding.
It's really, really good.
It's like an hour long.
It's awesome.
Beautiful.
Love it.
What is both of your favorite local ass show?
show memory.
Mine right off the bat, I've got two.
They're both from the Colbaal Cafe.
I love that, dude.
Ruckus and Zabalba,
zero paid, was legendary
because it was just Ruckus watching Zavala
and Zabalba watching Ruckus.
That was the show where we asked
Gilbert, the manager,
if we could have a water.
The bartender looked at
bartender, looked at
Gilbert and said, Gilbert, we're doing waters tonight,
and Gilbert took a beat and said,
No.
So no water.
The other one would also be from the Colbott Cafe where 25 to Life was playing.
Two paid Colin and Taylor Young.
Do they have water?
I don't think 25 to Life got water.
Mine would be the last few in the proud show.
Was that a place that no longer does shows called the Galaxy Room?
And it was like a dance studio that did quite a few shows.
And there was like a horrible blizzard the night of the show.
So turnout was like the few and the proud.
Like it was like, if you're going to be like, if you knew you were going to go,
if like it was like, I have to be there, you were there.
Okay.
And like that was it.
So it was like it wasn't a very well attended last show.
But it was like everyone.
Elite.
It was like everyone who was there, you knew were like, I'm not missing this.
Okay.
So that was cool.
And then the other one has.
And then the other one has to be the, it's not quite local, but I'm going to call it because it wouldn't have happened without local hardcore dudes.
And it was the Chicago Open Air Fest, which is kind of a bigger metal thing, got rained out.
We did a last minute show with Knocked Loose, Code Orange.
Oh, right.
Harmsway in vain at the Metro.
Yeah, that's insane.
And that was day hours before the show happened and there was 900 people paid.
Fucking miracle.
Miracle.
It was awesome.
That was one of my favorite memory.
period.
I love it.
Every touring band seems to hate playing Germany.
How come there's pretty much always four plus dates there on most Euro tours?
I think,
I think as for as much hate as Germany gets,
it's important to clarify that it is maybe per capita
the most diehard music audience on Earth,
other than maybe Brazil.
And the U.S., I think.
But like, I would...
Yeah, but, dude.
I would say it's different there.
The importance is, yeah, it is different.
You're absolutely right.
It is very different.
I mean, it is like the demo nothing bands can be cult like in Germany right off the bat.
They are fans that will stick with you through your worst and they will tell you that it's your worst to your face.
You suck now.
But good shows.
But they're still with you, you know?
They don't give up.
Also, just geographically, it's fucking huge.
It's huge.
You're going to crisscross to go to East Europe and to France and get over to the UK or whatever you got to do.
Or to get up north to Scandinavia or south to fucking Italy.
You've got to go through Germany.
And it's cheaper to play a show in Germany than to skip it.
And that's that.
And we've talked about this before.
So I don't feel like it's like insider baseball or anything.
but there are some venues.
There's a lot of venues that get subsidized money from the government because it's
somebody in the pest control comments episode last week said we were dead on about that.
And we know.
We know.
So they get money from local government to put on youth activities, which is great.
That's an awesome thing.
I fully support that.
But unfortunately, what that means is if a tour comes through and the package costs
a thousand euros, let's just say.
And the budget for that week at that venue is from.
the government a thousand euros the the promoter does not necessarily have to care about promoting
the show there's no incentive of doing anything else because they're not going to lose the rest the
bands are already paid they don't even need to show up and and that can be problematic that can lead to
no one knowing about the show and it's certainly every time is how that works and it's and it's happened
but bands don't hate to play germany uh it's just you have to play germany the most with the way that
Europe is geographically spread.
And not every little fucking village is going to have a strong hardcore scene.
Exactly.
That's how it is.
Yeah, exactly.
And also, like, hate is a strong word.
Yeah, it's not.
We're all lucky to be there.
We're all lucky to be there.
So, please don't take that to heart.
It's the coolest thing in the world.
That was this guy's question.
That was not me.
Yeah.
Phrasing that.
Yeah.
We're all privileged to get to travel the world playing punk music.
Yeah.
Favorite holiday TV special
Holiday TV special
Damn
Boy I haven't watched TV in a long
Or just like an episode of a show
Yeah so probably it's going to be an office episode
Probably
Benny Hana Christmas
Benny Hana Christmas is fucking unbelievable
It's unbelievable
Do you ever notice that the two waitresses at the restaurant
Are not the same two who go back to the office
I think that Mindy Kaling wrote that
episode and she's talked about how that was a joke on top of the joke on top of the joke so not
only is it not them they don't know who of the two god and we as the audience probably didn't notice the first
time exactly one of the hardest laughs i've gotten out of that show is when michael's writing in the
bike in the very beginning goes merry christmas fuck every christmas it's just like swearing immediately
is so fucking funny the bleep is perfect listen to this question bow really
Would you rather
break edge
or eat Subway
once a day for a year?
Holy shit.
Subway once a day for a year.
My edge is unbreakable.
Well, here's the thing. We're putting my principles
against my principles.
So it becomes
a meta question of what is the function
of what I'm doing.
So am I suffering
for a year or am I suffering
for a night?
Breaking edge, you could say, is suffering for life.
And also, Subway has incredible cookies.
You could just do that.
I could just eat the cookie, and that counts as eating Subway?
You eat Subway once a day.
Oh, perfect.
He didn't spend it. He made the mistake and that's fine.
I mean the cookies.
Boom.
Done.
Thank you.
Foot long cookie, bitch.
That was a monkey paw thing right there.
What was your signature Red Bull flavor be?
Oh, cool question.
Mine would be the white monster.
It would taste exactly like the white monster.
Maybe I really like the bluephoria.
I really like the sparkling herbamates as well.
So it would be somewhere in there.
Something, but not super sweet or fake sweet.
Dude, that new one, the Christmas vanilla berry thing?
Yeah, yeah.
It tastes like peeps to me.
I can't stand it.
I got you.
I don't touch any of that stuff.
There was a cranberry one.
Remember the first summer one was like a cranberry one?
I didn't fuck with it.
I've never fucked with any of the seasonal flavor.
I liked the cranberry one, but that was it.
That's fair.
And also if your local coffee shop had a drink named after your band, what would it be?
The twitching tonic, baby.
Come on.
Get to work.
That's really good.
Easy.
They're going to do some fucking, I know I can design it, but I can already just imagine some like.
Harms way protein
Latteam.
But maybe
just like a nice
try.
Chai.
Chai.
Chytown players club.
Nice.
Chai.
Ooh.
You could do
ground coffee bags.
Yeah.
Breeding grounds.
Breeding grounds coffee.
Brewing grounds.
Brewing grounds.
Wow.
There we go.
Done.
Done.
What hardcore band do you think should be in the rock and roll hall of fame?
Cold brewing grounds.
Hardcore band, I mean, like legitimately AF.
Yeah, I can ask you front.
Like no question about it.
They're still rocking.
Yeah.
And like rocking.
They're fucking awesome.
Yeah.
And I told you.
Or the bad rains.
Bad rains will be in there before anybody, probably.
So you could kind of see all the classic like misfits.
Black Flag bad brains.
I could see any of them doing it,
but the one that should,
that didn't break,
like disappear and like,
you know,
whatever,
it's a F.
Yeah.
Uncompromising,
still rocking to this day,
still the coolest.
Yep.
Most generous,
you know,
with their time and what they've done.
Or a hatred.
Or Habir,
it'll happen.
Yeah,
Heypred.
Yeah.
Let's see.
Mount Rushmore of 2024,
a hard-lore episode.
Holy shit.
I got to go back.
I got to look.
I'm going to check.
I would say off the top of my head.
Yeah, hit me.
Stigma.
Easy.
Paris.
That was this year?
God, my year is...
Punk rock museum.
Yeah.
I've said a lot of episodes lately are like some of my favorites ever.
Hard songs by soft bands.
Collins Journey in Japan.
Texas Tour recap.
LDB Fest.
Maddie.
That was good.
That was good.
Connie.
Heavyest band of...
Probably Scott Vogel would be number four.
Yeah.
Okay.
I'm going to say...
Just because I fucking love him,
Queen Mary.
I love the Queen Mary episode.
I'm going to say Tom.
Yeah.
Stigma.
And the heaviest band of all time tournament.
I got...
That was fun.
I got no...
I've never gotten messaged more
than that tournament.
D-aside typo.
Dude.
But what's funny,
what's funny is like people were
really split.
There wasn't a,
you're entirely wrong.
Like I was...
Not in my messages, brother.
Yeah, sure.
Sure, yeah,
because they're all fucking...
But yeah.
No, Colin.
You would never be wrong.
That's right.
That's right.
The good ones.
Favorite hardcore record you listen to
available only on YouTube.
It's a great question.
There's a lot of those.
Every Japanese band.
I'm in a Long Island Plex server, which is kind of dedicated to that, made by the king, Pat Stankard.
So that's kind of like where I have to listen to like judgment and even like dead and dying is on that.
Dead and dying is a good pick for shit I listen to on YouTube sometimes.
I've mentioned this about two things now, but like the remand-dying.
masters of some records that bands are doing are really bothering me.
And there's Brotherhood, the DYS record is like, I can't believe how that was redone.
It's insane.
So the original version of that, the original version of humanity is the devil, stuff like that.
Like, I just want what was put out.
I don't really appreciate adding stuff.
Right.
Personally.
That's my choice.
That's my pick.
Fair.
If you had a signature model instrument, what make model color spec would yours be?
I think it's a long time away, but I'm kind of working on one.
So I won't say, but it's really cool.
Same answer.
Okay.
There is definitely something, but we can't really go into it.
Love it.
That's everybody's drink.
Who doesn't want a fucking signature model?
If you could travel back and witness a historical event, what would you pick?
I think you answered this before, but I want to hear it again.
Great question.
Well, it changes day by day.
You know what I mean?
Yeah.
Like, it really, truly, I just got a JFK book yesterday that I'm excited to read, which is kind of considered amongst both conspiracy theorists and, like, like, Warren Commission Purists.
It's considered, like, the most concise collection of the story.
So I'm really excited to dive into that.
But lately I've just been thinking about like, dude, I don't know.
Being being, could I be a fly on the wall at the moon landing?
You know, like in the in the in the studio.
Well, that's, I mean, is there not a greater unanswered question, you know?
Yeah.
Other than JFK.
Here's the thing, dude.
With JFK, do you ever think that maybe Lee Harvey Oswald just had an unbelievable shot and fucking nailed it somehow?
So the thing about him making that shot is not the unbelievable part.
It's everything else around it.
It's the fact that the CIA had a dossier on him, that he was in the military, that he defected to Russia and then came back with a Russian bride that was paid for by the State Department.
The fact that they found him, the fact that they linked the murder of Officer Tippett to him, even though eyewitnesses saw him.
multiple people running from the shooting.
The fact that he was killed by Jack Ruby
who he knew within
days of the assassination.
The fact that the Cadillac was cleaned
out. There's all this stuff
that's like, it's all the other things.
It's not necessarily the who
did what from where. It was an impossible shot.
It's, yeah, because it's not an impossible shot.
I don't, I've seen,
fucking, dude, do you ever go to like a gym,
like an export or something or a planet
fitness and they're playing like, the inspire
YouTube channel? It's just like,
people doing crazy trick shots and like backflips.
I can't do any of that, but I know there's people who can.
You know what I mean?
Right.
So that doesn't really mean anything to me.
It's everything else.
Okay.
It's all.
Sorry to get.
I'm sorry to bring it up.
And then you pull in the Cubans and the CIA and the Vietnam War and LBJ.
Dude, there's so much.
There's so much else.
Yeah.
Message Bo about JFK.
He'll talk to you about it.
John Boyga said,
how do you all feel when not only you see fans of the pod at shows,
which is the best to begin with?
Yes.
But when they say things like,
I'm here with this person and we met on the Discord or met from listening to the show.
I think ultimately above all things,
that's when this is over,
which it will be someday,
that's our legacy,
you know?
Absolutely.
It's getting...
Harkcore is a community.
Yes.
if we are doing things to
boost the community
at the end of the day,
that's the goal.
Boost the community
and get people into the music
into different bands,
which is part of the community.
But those are like the two
pillars of what we really want to do.
We want it to grow
in the right way
and put people on
to the things we love.
And that's it.
That's it.
And so when people tell us
there's nothing better
more,
I want to hear than me and this person met because of Hard Door.
Both of us didn't have anybody to go to this show with, so we decided to link up and go to
the show together.
Come on.
Come on.
The dream.
That's as cool as it gets.
Do you fuck with the band The Wonder Years?
Never heard him.
I heard him.
That style of, I don't know if you would call it pop-pong.
I think so.
That style is just not really my thing.
Gotcha.
Yeah, same.
Will we ever get a bad religion?
episode.
It's in the work.
Thoughts on new Fortnite chapter.
Best one yet.
That's crazy.
It's an impressive thing to say.
What are the changes besides the just the Japanese style?
Well, there's a sword.
The gun play feels amazing.
Oh, so they change.
This chapter one remix thing that just happened was awful.
Everything felt inaccurate.
Everything felt like shit.
I had a terrible time playing.
and now I feel like a god
and I'm playing on PC
Are you playing a mouse and keyboard or controller?
Yeah
Wow
I mean that's the big weeks
That's the big leagues
It is for sure
Feels like it
Tips for recruiting drummers
Hope and a prayer brother
Yeah that's not
There's no tips there
There's a reason you probably don't know
A drummer who's only in one band
Yeah
Ain't happen
They're rare man
They're rare
Treat them well
Yeah
Because they're also
insane. So you need to
work on that.
Do you watch fast food reviewers
like Joey's World Tour? I don't know
Joey's World Tour, but I'm a
day one subscriber to the report of the
week. I like
Joe's hungry a lot.
Coco eats. She's greedy as hell.
What she's doing on TikTok. She's a sick
fuck, but I like it.
All the ASMR people, I love
them. All the people in Japan eating
five pound cheese pizzas. I love.
I love that shit.
I can't watch people eat.
It makes me uncomfortable.
I love it.
Best thing you ate at Thanksgiving this year.
Dude, this is the most basic, boring, clichéate answer.
But like, good old-fashioned stove top.
Oh, my.
Dude, there was homemade and stove-top for ours.
And the stove-top is...
How do they fucking do it, man?
I don't know, because all you add is water and butter.
Like it doesn't actually make sense.
I don't know.
But good.
God.
It's perfect.
It reheats good.
Forget.
Somebody said, what makes or breaks a piece of merch?
A certain design aspect garment type?
I would say a bad blank is your break.
It breaks.
Makes from a design aspect, that's the magic.
Is there's a moment.
There's an epiphany moment when you're putting a shirt together of like, what is it missing?
What does it need?
Boom.
Then that last element comes in.
You're like, holy shit, we did it.
One thing I will say, too, I was just talking about this before we started up the episode, is when remakes are made, hot topic recently, I started carrying typo negative remakes of shirts.
And you and I can both, we can look down the line and I can tell you every single one that Peter had nothing to do with.
And anyone that, like, this is probably inspired by this or like close.
This is close enough.
But it's typo shirts and hot topics
Loads of them
A lot
Loads of them
Yeah
What's happening
But they're not
There's one
There's one dead again shirt
That is pretty sick actually
But even that is like
That's all you could get dead again
Bands just don't know
They just don't know what they got
But yeah I would say
If I look at a shirt design
If I'm looking at a merch spread
And I could see the design
That is like
Oh you're
This is like a favor design
that's kind of the like
I'm up
well at a certain point
vans just hire out
to make these things
so
you can tell when that point comes
yeah sure
you can tell when some bands
you can tell when some bands
fucking need it
you know for sure
like dude you made this
and it sucks
get help
if you could collab
with DSA what would the song
be named
song would be named
God's hate
two
it's really good
this is a funny question
How many vocalists know what they were doing vocally in hardcore?
I would say half.
I'll say half of hardcore vocalists are great at doing vocals.
Like, Vogel and Furness,
those guys know what they're doing.
Dwid?
Knows what he's doing.
I would say half.
Are there any classics who don't know what they're doing,
but it still works?
There's guys who learned what they're doing,
and then it gets worse.
Maybe we don't talk.
They lose that our natural.
Oh, true.
That's true.
A bit of an odd question.
Which fictional character do you channel, whether it be on stage or in life?
Fictional character.
Other than the pedophilia, the Phantom of the Opera.
Oh, okay.
I don't do that part.
I don't rock with kids sexually.
But I believe in the macabre, spooky.
atmosphere that he
that he lives by?
I'm going to go with
I'm going to go
with the wolf man.
I just always liked him.
He's always been my favorite.
The real diplomatic
answer compared to mine.
Yeah. Well, I like the fact that he
turns into something that he can't control.
Yeah. We've all been there.
Right. Totally.
All-time favorite chubby
Charles Chubby and the gang phrases
Two bikes with one ass is one I think about constantly
That one's great
I quite literally yesterday thought of
That's the fucking zoo
Oh my God
That was off the rip
Just just him being him
Holy shit
Genius
And then also
Oh it's always good to see Hyiv is performing in London
When we walked past the street performance
It was like
He was
Fucking outstanding
On it dude
he was on it.
When does a band become not the same band after replacing members?
The vocalist can be really tough.
Replacing a vocalist is tough,
but when it's just the vocalist who didn't write a single riff?
Then it's fine.
It does, you're right.
No, I'm out.
Oh, I'm sorry, wait, wait, wait.
I'm not interested.
When does a band become not the same?
You're saying if it's just the singer
who didn't write a single fucking riff on the record.
Left, you're saying.
I'm out.
Yeah, okay.
You can't call the band that band just because you sang on some stuff.
There's still the guys that wrote the music are gone.
Yeah.
Come on.
So you're just kind of karaokeing?
Yeah, it's just karaoke.
And I don't even know if you wrote the lyrics, you know?
Totally.
Trying to think of like, like, Sepultura is a pretty good example of, it's still
sepeltura.
It's not, the sepuletro that.
I would prefer to see.
No, right.
But it's still.
Nobody feels that way.
But what'd you say?
Everybody feels that way.
Okay, thank you.
I was like, nobody's like,
that Derek, I think,
is an amazing example of the guy's been
in the band longer than Max was.
Right.
And like Max will always be the singer
of Sepuletura to most people.
Yes, 100%.
And that's, that's a testament to Max.
100%.
Yeah.
And I, and Derek.
is an incredible vocalist, an incredible performer,
but the one thing he's not is Max Cavalera.
Sure.
And that, it's interesting.
But Andreas as the songwriter,
the man never slowed down.
Man never stopped writing bangers.
And that's what I'm saying.
I think that that's awesome.
And that's why it's,
I think it's still respectable in my opinion.
Yeah.
I totally agree.
Number one band of 2024.
number one band of
24 well that's
I feel like that's a hard lower
that seems like a hard lower awards
type answer
we'll tell you in three weeks
worst public fart of your life
I
the fucked up thing is dude
I know you have this in a
Rolodex in your head
and I don't I don't have this
because I don't
I would say one that affected me mentally
the headphones was
it had to be
No, that was fine.
That was funny.
Okay.
That was loud and like a bad fart.
Yeah.
But it wasn't, it didn't like, wasn't detrimental to my well-being.
Okay.
In fourth grade, I was blamed because I farted one time during reading time.
God.
I was blamed for every subsequent fart in the class for the rest of the year.
Lee Harvey Oswald.
Me, dude.
Straight up.
Yeah.
Lee Shardy Oswald.
That's pretty good
Thank you
And there was
The one that I did during the reading time
Was brutal dude
This kid, I forget
I think this kid's name was Ben
He was reading
And I was next to him
Trying so hard not to fart
And I think I just breathe
Or something
I was like
While he was reading
And he is reading the thing
Stop's to say
That was Colin by the way
And then keeps reading
Little bastard
fucking snitch, dude.
And I was like,
oh my God.
And like,
when I think about the fart year,
fourth grade,
I like,
I like come to terms
with why I had so few friends
in elementary school
because like,
you're not going to befriend
to fart kid.
You know,
it's tough.
He's farting all the time.
And I don't know.
No one does that,
but he does not.
No.
So that and that's the other things.
You don't think about as a kid.
Like everybody does this.
I know those girls
were going home
and shit in their pants.
and I wasn't I don't care
yeah that was tough
that one in fourth grade really stuck with me
I have one funny anecdote about it
I found out really randomly
one day something that that just causes
a brutal response in me
in that way and it's like roasted garlic
added onto any food dish
so I went and got ramen one night
and there was a bunch
I like added extra roasted garlic
because who doesn't like roast garlic
the next day we shot the Becoma machine
music video
you shit your pants
No, it wasn't that.
It was literally just gas.
I was just like all day.
Just horrendous.
Horrendous.
Do you have a shit pants story?
Like, have you ever shit your pants in a really inconvenient place or way?
When I was a kid one time, I was at a father's son camp.
My dad took me to a father's son camp that was like through the church that he was part of.
And it was all like divorced fathers with their sons.
So it's like really kind of heavy.
And it's like supposed to rebuild and like renew.
Whatever.
But there's rock climbing and like a rope swing.
You know, it was cool.
I didn't know anybody.
I was a literal kid.
And I went off the rope swing into the river.
It was in the upper peninsula of Michigan.
And I got out of the river and I was like, oh, I got to go.
So I started running to the toilet.
There was only porta-potties.
And while I was running, I went.
And I was in-
In the water.
No, no, I was out, but I was in shorts.
So it just kind of
And but what was nice was
Was everyone was swimming
So I ran straight to the showers
Now was it diarrhea or was it solid turd?
A little bit of both
I don't know what I hate it
Yeah
It was a bummer
That'll get you
How about you?
I've told the story on here before
But when I was working at Big Brother
It was five in the morning
Uh light pitch black outside
I shit myself in the backyard of the Big Brother house
And as I'm walking to the bathroom to clean myself
hiding poop in khaki shorts,
the power goes out in the entire lot.
That's just...
It was incredible, dude.
I think it was like divine pay, like,
it was like, okay, you had fourth grade
where you were the poop guy.
I'm gonna, I can't have that for you at work.
Yeah, say Peter, just like crossed your name.
The gates opened you were welcomed back.
And that was it, dude.
Save my life.
Holy shit, literally.
Yeah.
Wow.
Yeah.
What are some songs on your gym play?
playlist that would shock people.
I pretty much, with the exception of our guest spot playlist, I pretty much exceptionally
or exclusively, rather, listen to, it's called the Moody playlist on Spotify.
It's all ambient, non-vocal, pleasant, like almost video game, Stardue Valley kind of music,
which is kind of psychopathic.
I listen to a lot of like tech reviews while I'm working out.
I like that.
I like brain engagement.
Yes.
Yeah.
It keeps me distracted.
If that's kind of what I do when I'm doing chores.
I'll put that on.
Yeah.
Put stuff like that on.
Because you just stop.
You're not thinking about physically what you're doing.
Your mind's thinking about what it's hearing.
Like, wow, he's installing a brand new radiator for his GPU cooler.
Dude, I love that.
Yeah.
Or like, why the 30s better than the 40?
You know, I want to hear that.
Now I really want to hear it.
Yeah, right.
Or like the thing I listened to yesterday was about how building a PC is going to be way more expensive next year because of the Trump tariffs.
I'm saying this because you got yours in
I got in dude I got in right on time
but you know my ass is getting a 5090
you're sick dude you're sick in that
I know but then I get to give Lana my 49
true and that's exactly we can build her one together
that's exactly what I'm doing with my computer
yeah that's right she gets that
yeah I'm giving Lana on my computer
exactly
favorite album from the year you were born
87 wow
Great year.
Mine is typo negative, slow deep and hard, 1991.
Because Taylor's 87 and it's poetic because retaliation was 87.
Right.
So he has the last carnivore record.
I have the first typo record.
Of this brief list that I'm seeing, I will say, oh, bad by Michael Jackson came out.
But I'm going to say, yeah, pretty fucking sick.
But I'm going to say Strange Ways by the Smiths.
Love it.
Love that record.
Love it.
Did you ever get CDs in your Christmas stock?
Yeah, I got the CDs were wrapped
CDs were wrapped that's true
Cs were wrapped stocking was like
Charles and Chews
Shoot a lot of Charles and Chews
Did you get oranges in your stockings?
I don't think no dad was like I'm not fucking putting
Ormond we got we got oranges
By we I mean my mom and me because she put oranges
In our stockings
The coffin box set was
A Christmas present as I said
Right
possibly in the stocking.
Wow. That's a, and that's the greatest
stocking stuff for a lot. You know what was always
in the stocking? A video game.
That's really nice. Because like a DVD
case, you know,
fits right in the stocking. It was, so it was
always like, one thing that was, dude,
my mom, props to my mom, but she always
made Christmas like a
banger. Like every year, she would
get me kind of the thing.
It was awesome. I don't know how she did it, frankly,
but she did it. And
one year I knew she got me Tony Hawk
for the N64 because I only had it in 64
and it was the night before Christmas
and I was just like mom
you're gonna make me go and rent this right now
and we have to do it all over again
and I just passed her all night until she fucking gave it to me
she was so bad
she's like don't ask her the exact same thing
with WrestleMania 2000 for N64
what a game
or it was like dad listen
we could play this right now
and we'll leave you alone
I can see it I'll leave you alone
I can feel that through the package
you know yeah
Yeah, it's great.
Most surprising person who is down with heavy music.
Great question.
Down with.
So let's say...
Here's the thing.
Obviously, we know this.
And it's well documented in last week's episode.
But the general public doesn't know the extent that iced tea is down with heavy music.
Dude.
No.
He knows he is fucking tapped in.
He's tapped in.
That's a good point.
That's a really good point.
saw him and the body count dudes
like walk into catering at Hellfest
and there was no...
That's one guy I'm dapping it.
I'm going, I'm going move!
Really?
Dap.
Wow.
I don't care.
I've never met him.
I've never seen him.
He's getting dapped.
He looked cool.
Dude, body count was wearing all body count gear too.
It was pretty sick.
Yeah, it was awesome.
Suicidal vibes.
Yeah.
Do you guys put glasses in the cabinet
that's lit up or lid down.
Down.
Oh, I'm a...
Really?
I have like a rubber mat thing
and I have it down so no dust gets in there.
I don't like dust.
Yeah, I don't have anything like that.
I don't, mine are not clean very long, you know?
Dude, I'm using those.
Do you have a dishwasher?
Yeah.
I just talked to my mom the other day.
I haven't had a dishwasher since I moved out of her house.
And you really...
I'm...
I only have two forks, two plates,
because it's just me, you know?
And even then alone, I'm like, fuck, man.
I'm always doing dishes.
Yeah, I have this thing where my legs get itchy when I'm washing dishes.
I think it's an ADHD thing or something.
Yeah.
So thank God I have a dishwasher.
There's also a level of bow clean.
Because again, if it's just me and if I'm just cooking for me, I don't need my glass to be perfect.
You know?
No.
I know it's my lips on there.
Yeah.
It's fine.
Ranked Twitching Tongues albums.
Can you give an eye?
Honest ranking?
Do you think?
Yeah, I think so.
I would go in love number one.
I think it's our classic record, and I think that I'm at peace with that.
I would go gaining purpose two, because I think two of the best songs I've ever personally
written are on there.
Disharmonie three, hardest one.
And that's inarguable.
And I think that's people's problem with it, Sleep Therapy 4.
as your friend and as a genuine fan of your band,
I 100% agree with that ranking.
I think that's the objective truth.
It's kind of subjective.
Yeah.
You know?
Yeah.
All right.
That's good.
I'm comfortable with that.
What animal would you animorph into?
Dude.
Fucking grizzly.
I'd love to be a big old bear.
That would be cool.
Stand up.
Just look around.
I would want to fly.
No, that would be something.
Yeah.
So probably eagle or bat.
Dude, that would be crazy.
That would be dope.
But then I'm not deadly.
No.
No.
Do you want to be deadly?
Yeah, I think I need to be able to stand my ground.
Living as a bird seems miserable.
Yeah.
But anamorphing into a bird to get where I need to go.
True.
Yeah, good point.
Make me an eagle.
I'll be an eagle.
Bear, I'd just be sleeping and eating.
I'd just be meat.
Yeah.
It's the same as I am right now.
Absolutely.
Oh, wait.
quick question though, if I morph into my cat, can I talk to my cats?
Yes.
Done. Cat.
Yeah.
Make me like a Bobcat so I can protect them, a lynx maybe?
Yeah.
That is truly an unbelievable answer.
Thank you.
How were the shows with nails, Colin?
I just didn't even touch that, huh?
It's crazy.
Talk about it.
Tell me about this.
They were fucking awesome.
Tell me about the thing you saw that I am so envious about everybody there.
Yeah.
I've got to see that.
Played three shows with nails, which was just really cool.
It was.
interesting at first to just like watch and not see my brother playing.
Yeah.
But they they make,
they completely make it work.
They're locked the fuck in.
They really feel like a,
they feel like a legacy metal band now,
if that makes sense,
rather than like a hardcore band.
Okay.
Sure.
And then at the Belasco show,
Max Cavalera came out and did endless resistance
and territory.
And it felt, I felt historic.
And Max, it turns out he's just the coolest guy ever,
exactly what we thought.
There's a video.
I think it's someone from your crew who took it.
I don't remember.
Maybe Kyler.
Somebody was stage left.
I saw a video.
And while Max is singing,
there's a point where,
what's the base player's name of Nails these days?
Andrew.
Andrew looks at Todd,
and they both give each other like a,
like this is,
fucking crazy. This is awesome. Yeah, they couldn't believe it and rightfully so because it was
unbelievable. So cool. Yeah, they were really cool. I'm glad that we got to do that. Sick.
That rocks. Yeah, it was cool. What the Costco guys smell like? Didn't notice.
Great, I'm sure. Italian. You know?
Tattoo talk. Somebody asked for tattoo talk. First tattoo, favorite, most painful. First tattoo was a
typo tattoo tattoo by Marina anyway
Do you know what's so...
Friend of the show?
What's so beautiful about us?
Your first tattoo was a typo
tattoo? My first tattoo was a youth today tattoo.
See? It's just cool.
We are who we are. They ain't
no bullshit here, dude.
No. Favorite is probably
dude, same spot.
Same spot? It's such a
friend. How old are you
when you got it? Not young.
I was like 21.
My mom, again, my mom
rocks to gifts. She's cool. Yeah.
She took me to get a tattoo when I was 16.
So I was walking around
as a junior. I got it
for my birthday, which is in the cold time.
So I didn't wear shorts.
So I'd wear even for gym class, I'd wear sweatpants.
So then when the only time I would
wear shorts was gym class when it was hot out.
Spring rolls around. I got a heel tattoo
on my leg. Come on.
Guy like me. Coolest kid in school.
Come on, pappy.
Yeah, I didn't do that.
Most painful? I didn't dry.
until the end of my senior year either.
What was it?
Most painful was the back outline.
Yeah, I'm sure.
Favorite is my back.
Sure.
I would say, surprisingly, I have initials on my butt
that everyone in Doublecross got DC on our butts
when the van broke up.
Really hurt.
Oh, the butt was the worst part of the outline.
Yeah, it really fucking hurt.
My chest, the exes on my chest hurt,
but the butt is the first one that comes to mind.
Honestly, my favorite is the one.
You me and Brody with the fucking...
I love that one.
That one's awesome.
It just looks like...
I never get to see it.
So when I do, I'm like, damn, that's there.
And what's funny is I most often see it on TV.
You know, it's like, oh, shit, I have that.
So that's fun.
That's true.
Yeah.
You're right.
Yeah, I like whenever I catch a glimpse to that.
Which of one of you is most likely to fall for a cult?
For a cult.
Colin, I love you.
No.
There's no way...
You, there's no religion that could get me.
Yeah, but it's not, it wouldn't, you wouldn't fall for a religious cult.
You would fall.
I would never fall for any cult.
You would fall for a lifestyle cult.
100%, no, I wouldn't.
I don't trust anybody.
Not even nobody.
You think I would?
I don't think you would.
Really?
You think we're both impervious to cults?
I am so deeply unreligious that I think anything that seemed like an organization
in that.
regard in any way, I would not be involved.
But like there's tech cults, there's lifestyle cults, there's diet cults, there's music
cults, there's other things.
Couldn't get me.
Okay.
Couldn't get me.
You can try if you're a cult if you're listening.
I think we could probably make one and do a pretty good job.
I think we pretty much have.
Yeah.
So.
So there's your answer.
Sign up for the Patreon.
Let's see.
Are you fans of Thin Lizzie?
I am a fan of Thin Lizzie, and Colin, you tried specifically to get me into, what was it, something Rose.
Black Rose.
Black Rose Grimheart.
No, no.
What is it fucking?
I don't know.
It was Black Rose.
Black Rose is the record that was like, Jordan Olds showed me because I was like, I like, I like jailbreak, you know.
Yeah, right.
I like the hits.
Totally.
Black Rose was the one that was like
Oh every riff is insane
And every song is a banger
So I need to revisit that
Because I remember being on a road trip
One time and putting on like their greatest hits
And being like
Yes
No the deep cuts are the magic
Interesting
Similar to your Avian Awards episode
Are there any other non-musical conventions
And gatherings you two are interested in attending
I would do almost all
Because I think we could get something out of it
Yeah
I agree
Like even NAM, which I've heard is like...
A disaster.
A disaster and like dry as hell.
Yeah.
We could get something out of it.
You know what I mean?
That would be fun.
Any and all.
Agreed.
TwitchCon.
Yeah, I think Comic Con would be...
Comic-Con.
But we would have a good time.
C2E2, all that shit.
Yeah.
What non-Harkor band will you always be down to C live?
That's a great question.
There aren't many.
I would have said motorhead would have been my answer
Who would I just not say no about?
Choir Boy, I love choir boy
I saw them so many times
I would love to see Morrissey, I've never seen him
That is crazy
Mm-hmm
He cancels every time
Every time
Nine In Inch Nails, that would be my answer
Great answer
Can we hope for any other God's Hs
Chos in Europe next year besides outbreak?
Yes
Yes you can
if you had to have a third permanent member of the show who would it be probably alec or taylor
taylor as like alec is a good choice because there's still this energy taylor's dryness is just
very different than ours but taylor being the the guy kind of in the booth that the camera
cuts to occasionally is there's something there there's a magic there for sure that would be the
dream yeah uh 2025 is the 10 year anniversaries of rust and disharmony
And the 15th anniversary of no gods, do we have anything special plan?
Holy shit.
That's fucked up.
I'll say yes.
But there's not a whole lot I can talk about.
I would say in a perfect world, yeah, but probably not.
I think an album play-through of disarmony would be improbable.
It would be so hard.
It's a crazy record.
Yeah, it's fucked up.
Thoughts on the new high-vis record guided tour.
Fantastic.
We will talk about it at length in the Hardlow Awards.
A zombie outbreak has been announced.
Love it.
What do you guys do in the first 72 hours if you were together?
If we're together?
I would ask you in the first...
What?
Let's pick where we are.
I'm going to go ahead and say, it doesn't matter where we are.
30 minutes into a zombie outbreak, if my dogs and wife are dead, I'm asking you
to shoot me in the head.
I won't have a gun if we're not here.
No, no, no.
We'll find.
We're fine.
We'll find a gun.
Okay.
Yeah.
All right.
Or just fucking do something, you know?
Yeah.
I need you to kill me.
I can't.
I do not need to live that bad.
Okay.
So I have a dash of like,
domer prepper in me where I like,
once every season, I'll like freak myself out and go too far down a rabbit hole and be like,
blackout's coming.
What am I going to do?
You know.
And you think that you are,
you're less likely to fall for a cold than me?
Listen, I don't have...
Blackouts coming.
I don't have a bunker.
You live in a place where blackouts happen.
And yet I'm not concerned.
Yeah, because you're ready to die.
My whole goal, though, is to be alive long enough to get my mom out.
So, like, I do have some food here.
I do have some water.
I have weapons, whatever, to get out of the city.
but if mom's dead if taylor's dead whatever much like you i'm out no problem i'm all good
so it just kind of depends on where we are but i think uh getting out of a city is the first thing
and you and i are so fucked it's not happened i don't have a car and you have an electric car
yeah i'm fucked that motherfucker's dying day one uh let's see what's on y'all's workout
playlist right now. I've only been listening
to the best guest vocals playlist.
It's actually true. That and the moody playlist
on Spotify, check it out. It's really good.
What game show
or reality show could you win?
Big Brother. You think you could win?
100%. You think
because I don't know the show that well, but you've described it to me.
Like, you think you would like fuck people over
and stuff? I'm good at wolves
and mafia. And that's what
the social aspect of the game is.
Right. It's lying to
ascend in the hierarchy.
And then physically, I've already been testing the competitions for years, and I was really good at them.
And now I'm much stronger than I was then.
So even though like endurance ones, I think so I think I would be better at.
Jeopardy.
And it's been seven years since I worked for the show, so I think legally I can do it again.
Oh, interesting.
Put me out Jeopardy.
I think I can do good.
Like regular Jeopardy?
Regular Jeopardy is definitely harder, and I probably wouldn't do as good as many people.
Now, Teen Jeopardy, I'm wiping the floor with these snotnose bucks.
That'd be awesome.
I'm the best teen.
Or what's that?
Are you smarter than a fifth grader?
Yes, I am.
100%.
Put me in.
I got that one.
And I could, I could whoop them all.
Our shrimp, in fact, bugs.
Of course.
They're crustaceans, which is the type of...
It's a bug.
And I, as somebody who loves seafood, I do sometimes get creeped out by lobsters.
Crawfish freak me out.
out.
Shrimp are kind of crawfish.
So there is
part of it where I can't think about it.
Soft shell crab, that's fucking gross, dude.
That's gross.
I love it.
Somebody said, what's your favorite slang for penis?
Hammer.
Hammer's amazing.
My favorite thing related to that is crack one.
Oh, yeah, yeah.
I got to crack.
Cracking a nut.
I got to go crack one.
Amazing.
Open air.
Open air is fucking unbelievable.
It's genius.
As music people who also enjoy movies,
what music movie gets music the best
and what gets it the worst?
Green room's pretty good.
Green room's pretty good.
Probably the best.
I think we've said that it was the best.
We did it, yeah.
The worst?
Oh,
rock star with Mark Wahlberg.
Oh, yeah, that's pretty brutal.
That's pretty bad.
Musically.
Great movie.
Great movie.
But musically, it's like,
Like, the, the, the, the, the, uh, in trap, the amount of times people are just walking around the venue during this, the headliner's set is insane.
Like lots of people.
Like, as if the biggest pop star in the world is playing an intimate arena show.
And there's always people out, like, in the bathroom and like at the merch tables and shit.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And the merch guy being like, hey, come with me in the back and help me, uh, restock.
is fucking insane.
So it's probably trapped.
Let's see.
I'm always curious.
What's the reason for you guys not liking melodic hardcore?
It does.
It's very simple.
That sucks.
Next question.
I think it's existence is oxymorotic, you know?
Right.
I don't think melody in hardcore is bad.
I think hardcore with the sole purpose of of melody with no nothing hard about it is pointless music.
Perfect.
It's not why I listen to hardcore.
Yeah.
It's like Christian death metal.
Exactly.
You can't be that.
That's a really good way to put it.
That's a really good way to put it.
Thank you.
It's like, honestly, right-leaning country music.
Oh, my God.
Or like folk music in any way.
No.
This is rebellious music against the norm.
The man.
Against the, yeah.
Yeah.
The man and the man will always be conservative.
I know you're Kojima fan.
What's your favorite Metal Gear game?
Metal Gear Solid 3.
Really?
What system was that?
Yeah.
That was PS2, I think.
You would love three.
I've heard.
I've heard.
I have a...
It's coming out again.
Really?
Yeah, they remade it.
For PS5, obviously?
Yeah.
Sick.
I would try it then.
I would try that.
You're going to love it.
I think it's 60s.
Hell yeah.
I think you're going to like it.
Okay.
It's the best one.
Ooh, most underrated hardcore man.
Most underrated hardcore man.
Like the most.
There's an argument for underdog, ironically.
The most underrated.
Like who?
Here's a thing.
The fact that,
agnostic front isn't outlining things like outbreak fest is is the answer interesting
like they're there they're so much of the reason that we're sitting here talking right now
and why some of your favorite bands exist and yeah they're playing open air fest in
Germany and Spain and shit, but like, they should be at the top of the modern hardcore lexicon
at all time.
It really is them a negative approach.
Yeah.
Those two should be the talk of the town to everyone in the world always.
Good answer.
Thank you.
That's a different approach to how I was taking it, but I like that one better.
They, even as big as they are and as successful they are, it's not enough.
Mount Rushmore
hardcore bands outside the United States
That's a good one
Kickback
World Collapse
Judgment
And
Probably no warning
Really
Good call
All right
I'll say no warning
Hi-vis
Chisel
Mainstrike
Okay
there you go.
Oh, fuck,
Rise and fault.
What's up with the vibe
between songs and hardcore shows
that always feels awkward and quiet.
It's all about the music, brother.
That's you.
That's you problem.
Yeah, that's just you.
That's called ADHD.
You can talk to me about it anytime.
But that is also the reason
why there are no quiet moments
in between harm's way songs.
Because fuck that,
dude.
Running full speed, who has the most inertia?
Boer Kong.
You?
You have.
your bigger frame.
I think you weigh more now.
How much do you weigh?
When are you pulling?
I'm like 190 right now.
I'm about,
I'm a little more.
Yeah.
Okay.
So,
but I might be faster.
I think you're faster.
You got longer legs.
I got really long legs.
So I think,
I think by that alone,
it's probably you.
I would love to race you.
Dude,
I don't have speed.
I really don't.
I will.
I'll try,
but I really don't have it.
I think that would be so fun.
Should we do like a hard lore,
like,
field day?
The big race.
Hey, sure, sure.
We got to do the big race at FAA.
Holy shit, this is incredible.
The big race is Tampa, Florida, January,
Orlando, Florida.
Orlando, Florida, the hard lore big race.
Can't wait.
Favorite game that nobody thinks you would be playing.
Favorite game.
Yeah, my wife briefly got me into
dress to impress
Oh really?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
It's pretty fun.
I mean, I did enjoy
Fortnite while I was playing it.
It's the best game at all the time.
But like after being pretty
vocally not into it, I was enjoying it.
So I could say that.
I mean, you'll play this season.
Yeah, yeah, maybe I will.
You're going to be like, yeah, this is insane.
Godzilla's doing the greedy.
It's insane.
What is an unpopular opinion
you guys hold, but as a hill you are willing
to die on. I don't, I'm so sick of corn off the cob in any meal. I don't think it contributes anything
positive to the thing I'm eating, whether it's a fucking burrito bowl or ramen. Wow.
Or for some reasons, some breakfast things have corn in them. I think corn is fucking bullshit.
Keep it on the cob. It's mid. It's, you don't digest it. It tastes like shit. Butter is great,
Mexican corn rips because it's just covered in other stuff.
But once it's off the cob, I don't trust it.
I don't need it. I'm fucking sick of it.
Interesting. I would say it's also food related is a la canes.
If a sauce is required to make your meal, then your meal is bullshit.
It's a vessel for sauce.
That's just boring.
No, but you are, what you're saying is like, I know, it's an unpopular opinion that you're,
willing to die on so you recognize
that it's unpopular but like the foundation
of food I'm not gonna argue
with you because I just said corn is bullshit
we're both wrong
and it's fine you know yeah
yeah I'm just sauce is there
to improve what you're eating
but if it's a two I'm not gonna start I'm not gonna start if canes is a two
ingredient meal like two
things and you take away one thing
and then it's bullshit it's just like well
it's but it's not bullshit but the elements are
made to be enjoyed together.
If you take red pepper or toppings
or Parmesan cheese away
from pizza, the pizza is still good.
It's pizza. If you take the cheese off,
it's not the same. But that's,
like saying if you take the breading off, the chicken, no,
no, no. Okay, well, if you take the sauce off,
what is it? It's cheesy bread.
But the item is made with sauce. So, like, a chicken
tender is chicken
egg wash. But the canes one is
recommended to eat with the sauce.
Yeah, but maybe, you know,
the... What came first? The pizza or the egg?
You know?
Yank.
Pretty definitively, yeah.
Yeah.
But I hear, it's unpopular for a reason.
I get it.
I hear you.
But every five-star restaurant has a saucier whose whole job is to include a sauce that makes the food better.
Right.
But I'm sure the food on its own would still be outstanding.
Probably.
But that's why it's a dollar-staffir.
and Cain's is 899 and delivers to me now.
So my life is so much better.
King.
Top five Cranberry's songs.
Wow.
Electric Blue.
Salvation.
Hollywood.
Bosnia.
Insane song, dude.
They're just like Bosnia.
We're so fucking sorry.
Yeah.
and they should be.
And they should be.
You know? Yes.
And probably just dreams.
Yeah, I mean, the hits are the hits, but like there's moments in linger.
The harmony on Fool for You.
Oh, perfect song.
It's crazy.
I would 1,000% that say that Salvation is my favorite song.
So I'm glad that you pick that one.
That's a crazy track.
One of the greatest bands of all time, S-tier.
We put them in greatest of all time, right?
in the ranking every rock band episode
that you can go back
in those two now
let's see
we're winding down now
we've got just a couple left
was meeting each other
like love at first sight
or was it an enemies to love her story
we got along immediately
I think it was famously right off the bat
it was right off the bat
because we had no choice
nobody could be enemies in the van
that is true
and you had already toured with Taylor
right
and like I
I was already a fan of the band.
Yeah, we knew each other.
Like, knew of each other.
You know what I mean?
We knew of each other.
I got your vibe right off the bat.
And it was like, I think I'm going to get along with this fellow guy.
Yeah.
Look at us now.
That was easy.
11 years later.
Good God.
Last call for a possible rise of the North Star interview says M Photos.
Give it up.
Hey, Evan.
Evan.
It's never happening.
Mate.
No.
It's never happening.
What am I saying?
It's never happening, Evan.
God damn it.
Do you recall?
any bands you thought would be huge, but just never broke out of your local scenes.
Happens to some of the best.
Oh, that's an interesting question.
There was a band from Detroit called Fireworks, who was...
They did it.
They kind of did it.
They kind of didn't.
And they could have been bigger.
That's exactly right.
Whereas, like, when that one record came out, everyone was like, oh, well, they're going to, they're going to be huge.
They're going to be...
Right.
They're going to be the story so far.
You know, like, they're going to be it.
Yeah
An LA van
It's got to be dozens
Yeah
There's so many
That's like the band
Our
And this is an L.A
This is 805
Our local
equivalent to a band
Like strength for a reason
Yeah
Like a regional band
That can fucking kill
Is retaliate

From Oxnard

Timeless
records that I love so much.
hilarious lyrics
sometimes, but like
great songs,
Zach Nelson, host of
185 Miles South podcast,
incredible frontman.
He was also in In Control.
Oh, sick.
The certified 805 legend.
Retaliate kind of is that
band that
if they were maybe
younger and no offense
them at all, when retaliate started,
and if they were like a touring thing,
I think they could have done it all.
Totally.
They're the ones that had the lyric,
Mad Ball ain't your favorite band.
I hate you like the Taliban.
Wow.
Yeah, that'll get you.
This is a good question.
This is a good last question, I think.
Okay.
That's a good last question, I think.
I've got a couple and they'll all make sense.
I think I do too.
Because, okay, I need to reiterate,
I didn't have like a metal phase.
I loved Metallica,
but when I discovered punk rock,
it wasn't like it wasn't okay to be outwardly like a middle head.
You know,
that was like a thing still, silly.
Right.
So then when I found hardcore,
that was all the same.
So I very,
I could very easily say bad brains rock for light
had production that I wanted,
songs that I wanted,
and like a little bit of melody, it made sense.
Yeah.
And then Cromax, the age of choral,
was really, really important.
That's like, oh, this is the best version of hardcore.
Yeah.
And I couldn't have gotten it at a better time.
Yeah, same.
That was number one on my last FM that year, for sure.
Most important for me,
Life of Agony, River Runs Red.
Wow.
I would say I was, I got into, I found hardcore at five years old.
So I obviously have a very different story than everybody else.
But River Runs Red came to me, you know, several years later.
And it was like the foundations of all the stuff I already liked that was like, it was heavy, it was aggressive, fast at times.
But the, it had the melody that the theater kid in me was dying for.
And the lyrical content of like, oh, this is something I can actually relate to.
Totally.
That makes-
Like they're not talking about, you know, murder on the streets and stuff.
It's like, I want to kill myself.
Yeah.
Wow.
So as a little kid that wanted to kill himself, it's like, this is the perfect thing.
Hey, breed satisfaction, of course.
You know, kid from Connecticut hears a band from Connecticut is the best one.
And then they're like pop, like, they're the best one.
Yeah, they're the best one.
And then I find out that they're 20 minutes away.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And now I'm playing in the band with the guy.
So sick.
You know?
Yeah.
Best thing ever.
And typo slowed even hard.
Favorite band to this day, completely defined everything I like, changed the trajectory of my musical
career in life.
I think if I had to choose a third, it would be background music by American Nightmare.
I could see that.
Which is not a band that I listen to too much.
much anymore. At the time, they were so catalytic and so important to connecting me to everything
else. Totally. He sounded so scary and everything was so fast and raw that I was like, oh, if they're
playing with this band, I got to like that band. And sure enough. And also seeing them physically.
Yeah, it was like. Out of control swag, dude. It was like a mystery. It was like, what is this haircut and
like a track jacket and
why is the base player the best dressed guy I've ever
seen in my whole life? Yeah, it was so
and he had a Morrissey quote on the back
of his base, but like the opposite.
It was just like all this stuff where I was like, whoa,
that connected a lot of dots
for me. So I think those would be my three.
Hell of a hell of a few picks
there. Thank you all so much for joining us.
This has been our final
kind of Q&A of the year. We've had a great
time. Long one, but hopefully
it was a good one. Thank you all so much
for joining us. The big race is
coming up in Orlando, Florida at F.
I can't wait for the big race.
I'll be practicing here.
I hope, oh, you will be too,
because this decides a lot.
This is it.
The loser joins a colt.
Thank you all for watching.
We love you so much.
Bye.
Me.
