Starting point is 00:00:00 Hello, welcome. Before we start, we wanted to extend our sincerest condolences as Matthew Orango, aka Cola Boy, an Oxnard Punk original and one of the most inspiring musicians we've ever met or spoken to, passed away yesterday. It's a huge loss for California. It's a huge loss for music overall. He will be missed and celebrated in the absolutely timeless music that he left behind. Here's a clip from our interview with Cola Boy at Sound and Fury 2020. with some poignant words from the man himself. Even if people don't f*** with it, I don't give a fuck. We're going to rock it and have fun.
Starting point is 00:00:36 So whatever happens happens. Absolutely. Everything we do in life is like, is it experience? And you learn from it. We learn from our failures most than anything. Hello, welcome. It's hard Lord time. How are you, Bo?
Starting point is 00:01:23 I'm doing good, stressed. We're moving over here. Yeah, how's that going? Oh, my God. It's, dude, it is unreal. Your apartment hunting saga has been really fun for me to tune into. Thank you. I appreciate that.
Starting point is 00:01:40 Yeah. For those of you who don't know, I sleep until about 2 p.m. That's still going on? It's stronger than ever. Really? I mean, we sprung forward. Yeah. Which we'll get into in a minute.
Starting point is 00:01:53 Okay. Because I'm, dude, I'm waking up at 11 every day. I noticed you responded late today and you texted me late last night. Yeah. Wow. I'm different, man. So I woke up, for me, I woke up, you know, a quarter to nine to walk to a place that was like that close to walk to. It was 30 degrees out in Chicago.
Starting point is 00:02:12 The lady had me waiting. She was late. Didn't have keys. That was the start of the day. But yeah, it's been a whole saga. I hate it. How are you? You know what?
Starting point is 00:02:23 What? I've been sleeping good. Yeah. Thank God, dude. I had the most brutal couple weeks that, I had the most brutal couple weeks that all. all kind of capped off with this Texas run that we're talking about in this episode today. You did one of the, with all due respect, dumbest, most challenging things I can, because I did this once. I did double duty on a whole tour, but I was 19.
Starting point is 00:02:51 And you were playing guitar, right? I was playing guitar and singing. Yeah. But remember how I used to play guitar? Yeah, no, you were, it was at, you were active for sure. And I couldn't imagine doing it in my 30s. Yeah, no, that's the 30s, or this is the aspect I didn't consider here.
Starting point is 00:03:07 But also, I've never done this. I've never done four shows back-to-back singing and drumming, ever. I also haven't done four shows back-to-back just singing in six years. So I'm not even acclimated to that, you know? Oh, God. I've also done four shows back-to-back drumming once in six years, you know? So this was just, oh, double-a-old. This was a mistake, for sure.
Starting point is 00:03:37 But it didn't start out as one, you know? Sure. I would say it was kind of like, I don't know what is going to happen. First night felt pretty good. Second night felt amazing. So we'll get there. But we'll kind of start from the top here. Well, so let me ask you, before you get into the actual shows, had you reacclimated from Japan?
Starting point is 00:04:02 Not at all. Japan, as we talked about in the most recent episode, I've got home from Japan one day later, went to Tacoma, went home two days later, went to Texas. So after that whole saga that we talked about, I'm just now kind of getting home, you know, like you've been doing your thing. People, we had a one hour long song as the episode last week. I'm just now normal. I just got there. Just got back from Japan. Just got, like my body, that's the thing I realized in Texas is that my body was still kind of there. Whoa.
Starting point is 00:04:41 And it really fucked with me the third day in Austin. But anyway, so this, the whole thing was around not so fun weekend, 2024 is what it was called, presented by John Parade of Flesh. It was a lot of work this man did. He built these four crazy lineups. It was going to be too. shows. Really? It was going to be just Denton and Austin and I think we were like, yeah, what about San Antonio? And he was like, what about Houston? So it was like, okay, let's make it happen. Yeah. So each show was like a super show. Every single lineup was like 11 bands, which I, that was not
Starting point is 00:05:23 the plan. It wasn't told to us really at first. But and ultimately we were like, holy shit, this is going to be a nightmare. Yeah. Because you hear a. 11 band show and you're like, I'm never going to sleep. I'm never getting out of there. Also, we're playing last. We're playing at one in the morning. Right. And you're playing essentially for an hour and 15.
Starting point is 00:05:46 I'm playing for an hour straight, you know? And then some, because of setup and stuff. Yeah. But it was not the case. There was two stages at every show. Oh. Which was really cool. Because Mohawk has like an indoor stage.
Starting point is 00:06:00 Mohawk has an indoor stage. Denton. had an indoor stage. Houston had another indoor stage and San Antonio had a small stage. Whoa. So he did a great job with that. And the logistics of it
Starting point is 00:06:14 shouldn't have worked as well as they did. There were some nights where like, I think every night a band had to play after us on another stage. And after incendiary on another stage. Like Scourge played after incendiary in Austin, I think. Whoa. Which is interesting.
Starting point is 00:06:32 But I think it's still rocked regardless. landed in, we flew to Austin to pick up a van to drive to Houston because that's not a far drive at all. Landed and ordered Jets. I remember, dude, it's so funny. I remember someone, I don't know if it was you or maybe Alec posting it on their story and I could smell the room. Yeah. The smell of a Jets pizza in a hotel room is a very distinct smell to me. It's like not good.
Starting point is 00:06:59 It's like not a good smell and it stays there until checkout. Oh, yeah. You got to leave the fucking box like outside the room when you're done with it. 100%. It is a stank that lingers. But man, what a way to start a journey by jetting. Unbelievable. Slept like ass.
Starting point is 00:07:20 Of course. I slept good once this whole time. I pretty much slept every other day. Was my situation? Just because my body had no idea where it was. It was wild, man But I did it I did it
Starting point is 00:07:36 You know I did it It sounds so awful All right Yeah The first show was First show was Houston Okay Started that day in Austin
Starting point is 00:07:44 Going to flat track coffee Okay We see a big mural Of Selena outside We know it's gonna be a great day You know RIP Selena man Dude
Starting point is 00:07:55 Imagine where she would be today The Mexican spot near me That like is my favorite They have not one not two, but three portraits of Selena inside. That's what I'm saying, man. She'd be headlining Coachella and shit. Oh, fuck, yeah, dude.
Starting point is 00:08:10 Absolutely. I think she'd be, she would be amongst the highest grossing artists in the world if she were still alive today. Wow. Because think about what Morrissey has been able to do just by being like, I kind of like it in Mexico, you know? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:27 I guess I have no frame of reference for her, position at any point because she died when I was really young. I don't really remember it. Well, think about how much of the population of the world speaks Spanish, Bo. Huge. I couldn't tell you a Spanish-speaking person that I know personally that doesn't, that wouldn't kill for this woman. Were she alive today?
Starting point is 00:08:50 She was beloved. She's, and like as a Van Nuys lifer, it was taught to me very early on, like, hey, you got to get into Slina. If you came back to me and said, I love you. And I gladly did, and I'm a big fan to this day. She is from Texas, right? Yes. Speaking of. Where was she from, Houston?
Starting point is 00:09:15 I think Corpus Christi. Dude, I think you're right. I'll have to check. Salina, where's she from? Died in Corpus Christi. Buried in Corpus Christi. Born in Lake Jackson, Texas, which is the greater Houston area.
Starting point is 00:09:32 Okay. Interesting. All right. Well, I was half right. Flat track and Austin coffee. Great cup. Big mural of Selena. Loved it. Felt great. It felt surprisingly good for not sleeping. You know, I just knew, on a day like that, you go, okay, I'm just going to caffeinate and it'll be fine. True, because it's the first one. You're like, I can. Whatever. What can you do? I've done this before. I've powered three. The problem is that the nighttime is so long. You know? My favorite word. Nighttime. Night time. That night where you're not. sleeping is like, what do I do? Yeah. It's insane hours. It's insane oh mode. And like you're, you're sharing a room. There's no. Yeah, there's no escape. There's no escape. You're in the gong. Yeah. The mind. We went to, we went to Bucky's every day this time. And let me tell you,
Starting point is 00:10:19 Beau. Did you explore? I would, I explore. I went from, I'd be like, yeah, Bucky's is good. You know, that was probably my, that was my disposition before. And like, I like the gimmick. I like the gift shop. I like all the stuff. It's like yeah, they always have a big bathroom. The stall goes most of the way down. Love that. You know damn well, Papa needs that. This time, you know, I had the brisket sandwich. This is my official review.
Starting point is 00:10:47 The Bucky's Brisket sandwich. Buck's up, dude. Yeah, that's good. Are you going to finish it? I had the ice cream sandwich the last day. Oh, I had it all. I would die for the buck now. You're bucked up?
Starting point is 00:11:08 I'm all in. I, so my whole bit was a bit. My whole bit was a bit. I think Buckees is amazing. Yeah. My only real contention was that Loves is just available everywhere. And that's what makes it superior. But they're not even close.
Starting point is 00:11:25 Not even close. You know? Not even close. And like if I lived in Texas, I would be so proud of Buckees, you know? Yeah. You go in there and you see, you see Texans. It's not like a tourist place. It's like everyday people.
Starting point is 00:11:41 It's like, yeah, I got to go to Buckees. Hold on. I'm running an errand. I have to go to Buckees. It's lunchtime. The family's going to Buckees. I'm not going to not eat this entire thing in Piscans on my way to work. Oh my God.
Starting point is 00:11:52 The fucking almonds, dude. And the ice cream sandwich the last day really, really rocked my world. Really? Yeah, it's just like a stock shrink-wrapped ice cream sandwich with a cookie. Correct me if I'm wrong. this might be stupid of me to even say but do they have Coke and Pepsi products in the fountains?
Starting point is 00:12:14 I didn't go to the fountain. The line was too long, which says something. Yeah. They need their 64 ounce fountain drink before they can go to church, you know? I might be wrong, but I think they might have both. I mean, that's... I might be wrong.
Starting point is 00:12:30 I could be wrong. It's pretty cool. So, and then we're headed to Houston, right? We get there a reasonable hour, setting up the normal show on on this lineup featured live without who is the what the fuck is up denny's band oh yeah yeah yeah saw them live in the flesh dude i met one of them outside of our houston show talked to him about it yeah they're cool man yeah he was and the singer did he did it all except for denny's you know what the fuck is up what the fuck is up Houston what's up
Starting point is 00:13:07 he knows what he's doing he knows what he's doing he's got the bit dialed in even if it's not a bit to him you know totally uh bank called substance played yeah Mexican coke who fucking ripped Mexican Coke dude dude I'm there's a that's a double it's a brilliant double entendre yeah yeah yeah oh yeah fuck yeah yeah yeah but I think they mean soda right guys if you're watching Mexican Coke if you're listening you mean soda start like a an a f sounding band called American Coke. That's good. A worst version of Mexican Coke.
Starting point is 00:13:45 Yeah, we're like Mexican Coke, like a little worse. A band called Juice Box played. Dude, I've toured with Juice Box. Yeah, they're badass. Singers are a tatter. Yeah. They rip. It's like New York hardcore vibes.
Starting point is 00:13:58 The first Harb's Way tour was with Juice Box. Oh, then this has to be a different juice box. Okay. It's a brand new band called Juice Box, for sure, from Texas. Okay, okay. Must be a different band. Also, I might be thinking of a band called Juice Time. You're awesome. Real classic Bowman right there.
Starting point is 00:14:25 Oh, no. Yeah, Juice Box ripped. Slow bleed, who was on every show. Hard-ass kind of death metal vibe with Big Pits from 805, California. Oh. It was nice to have them. Taylor recorded most of their discography so far. I think maybe there's some new stuff that he didn't.
Starting point is 00:14:43 But yeah, they've been around a while. It's cool to have them on this run. Check them out. Liberty and Justice also played. Oy vibes. They sound exactly like you want them to sound. They sound like Liberty and Justice? 100%.
Starting point is 00:14:56 Yeah. The sonic sounds of Liberty as well as justice. And then also on every show was Violencia from Tijuana, Mexico. who I loved. They're from Tijuana. Yeah, they're amazing. Really enjoyed watching them every single night. Wish them nothing but the best.
Starting point is 00:15:22 Hope can't wait for a new record. Check them out. She's fucking furious. And the band is raging fast. And I don't know anything about them personally. That was my perception from just hearing the songs. It was just like, damn, they're inspired by so many different cool things
Starting point is 00:15:38 that I really really loved watching them every night. Judiciary played every single night. Local legends. They were my handlers on this.
Starting point is 00:15:55 It's just you're out of the Oswald. I was truly falling apart the entire time. And Austin in particular, it was his kit we were on. Yeah. So Austin was very much
Starting point is 00:16:05 just like, hey man, what do you need? He was with me every step of the way. I don't know what I would have done without him. Oh.
Starting point is 00:16:11 I'll play with them every time in Texas You know It's not even a question Put me with them anywhere In the world Scourge was on every single show I think they're the you know They're kind of the
Starting point is 00:16:24 The pride of Texas In terms of young bands Especially from the reactions I saw Is that so? Yeah big time You can definitely tell You know Yeah
Starting point is 00:16:34 It's part of what I really like It's like when we were at LDB last year And like enervate Had a crazy It was like Oh that's a big time band, you know, like, stuff like that, I think is really fun. Washington, Texas, Florida have these pocket scenes in the country that are like hard to get to.
Starting point is 00:16:52 Yeah. So they have to rely on their own ecosystem of bands. Which is kind of. That's the way it should be. If it works, it's the best way to do it. Yes. Yeah. Yes, go hard for the touring bands.
Starting point is 00:17:06 But also put on for your own bands harder than anybody. And I think Texas, Florida. and Washington, but the Pacific Northwest in its entirety, do that more than anybody. Cool. To me, from what I can tell. What's funny is I love the Texas pride thing so much. Yeah. That I just, like, I just think it's cool.
Starting point is 00:17:29 It feels great. I want to get there and be like, my dad lives here. I get it. Conservative military image was also on every single. single show. And watching their ascension has been special. They play the kind of punk and early hardcore that I personally really enjoy. That is bow music. Yeah, that's bow coded for sure. Genuine boated. Genuine anger. Meaningful things to say, spoken from a place of pure truth, you can tell. There's nothing inauthentic about CMI.
Starting point is 00:18:11 And you can smell that from a mile away. You know? Yeah. And it's also the kind of hard without sonically being hard. That's exactly what I like about early hardcore. It's like there's barely palmutes in that early shit, but it's hard as fuck, you know. And that's the spirit, the essence is hard. And the drumbeat, it's just the boom-ca, boom-ca, it's like fucking awesome.
Starting point is 00:18:37 I had a good bit going. My whole bit was a bit. By the fourth night of like Brody sang calling out each band, you know? Uh-huh. And me doing a little drumbeat that sounds like each man. You got to go do, do, get, do, get, do. And the judiciary are doing the like, gadda-d-d-d-gat-d-gat-gat-gag-gat.
Starting point is 00:18:55 What'd you do for violencia? I think I went like, like, do-d-d-d-gat-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-k. Classic. Yeah, this was probably genuinely the best Houston show I've ever played. Whoa. Yeah. Was Sunny there? Kid with the hair
Starting point is 00:19:12 The homie? You know damn well The homie was there, dude Man. You think he's missing a gig? A single one. No, that was my first time actually meeting him though.
Starting point is 00:19:21 I've only met him once. Legend. Met him once. Maybe twice, but definitely met him at Warp Tour. Wow. When we played it and he came, he watched Harms Way at Warp Tour.
Starting point is 00:19:31 Local legend. I don't know how he does that hair every single day. It's dedication. Yeah, so Twitching Tongues played first each of the four shows, which I couldn't have done any other way.
Starting point is 00:19:41 Yeah, of course, because you would shred your voice. Singing after, well, I didn't sing for two of the gods hate shows, which is my first time ever not doing that. Uh-huh. Which I did for Houston and San Antonio, which was the smaller of the two shows. Maybe that was a mistake. Gotcha. But it was also just kind of like, Houston was like, ah, let's see how this feels.
Starting point is 00:20:02 Yeah, of course. Didn't feel good to do. But I will say, performance-wise, being a little tired from twitching tongues made it easier to be locked in tempo-wise, for God's sake. You can't speed up when you're gassed? No, can't. You literally can't, you know? So I think that those, these four shows are like the closest to album speed I've ever played. Amazing.
Starting point is 00:20:31 If that makes sense. That's actually hilarious. So it worked out for that reason. The stage was carpeted in a weird way, like a loose carpet. What was the venue? Do you know? What the fuck was it called? Oh, it's right in front of me. 7-1-2-6 Laundale Street.
Starting point is 00:20:49 Okay. I don't know if that's the name. Oh, side stage, the end. That's what it's called. The end, I think. Okay. The stage is freshly carpeted, and it's a loose carpet, so it's just floating there. We were slipping and slapping all over this motherfucker.
Starting point is 00:21:03 It was unbelievable. I was trying to kick in. I was falling over, and then I decided to just stand still. God's State said I had a great time. No carpet issues there. Kit never moved. Austin, great job. You got a kit that never moves, man.
Starting point is 00:21:18 The one. You got the one, dude. The chosen one. I think we went to Buckees again after for dinner. Didn't need anything. A late night Buckees? Fucking rips. It's good stuff.
Starting point is 00:21:33 I think on this last tour, Chris's partner visited in Texas. And we went to Bucky's during the day when it's chaos. And she was like, this is too much. This sucks. Yeah. You go at 1 a.m.
Starting point is 00:21:50 Then it's like loves type busy. Then it's like night and day. But yeah, you feel like leisurely. You can just. Yeah. Because that's the one of the great things about doing shows within Texas is the drive is at max four hours. Yeah. Getting there is crazy.
Starting point is 00:22:11 Yep. But, you know, we're flying in, so it's not the same. But yeah, the drives are fantastic, little different because we've got these super shows that start at 4 p.m. You know? Yeah. So Denton is the next day. I find I sleep like 10 hours before this. Oh, fuck yeah.
Starting point is 00:22:29 This is the first time I've slept in like a week and a half. Right. For real. So before Denton, I'm like, holy shit, guys, I'm back. We're late as hell because we're all tired. pull up to the show after it starts Worst feeling I hate that feeling
Starting point is 00:22:45 And the wrench in that Came from the shows starting early Due to being these mega super shows You know? Of course, yeah But that means I didn't get to try Any fun thing in Houston Any fun thing
Starting point is 00:22:57 In Denton really at all So I was kind of Whatever's the venues got is what I've got Yeah for sure A young gentleman Made Fuck what was his name be lost.t.
Starting point is 00:23:12 On Instagram. Burning Hands Bakery. That's what it is. Martin and John. They made homemade King's Hawaiian rolls. And brisket. So a big shout out to him. That was really, that was very nice. That got eaten up in about 15 minutes after he dropped it off.
Starting point is 00:23:31 Did you make a sandwich? Make a little risk kit sandwich? Absolutely. My God. Denton was the show, in my opinion. Okay. I've heard, I've heard tell. Denton is the scene.
Starting point is 00:23:44 It's not so much Dallas or Dallas or Fort Worth anymore. It's Denton. Because the DFW area, that's where the Mosherst reside, you know? They're there to go off as hard as they can. And Denton seems like the place
Starting point is 00:23:59 where they are all communing now. Got you. Gotcha. So this one included incendiary as the headliner. Many of the bands from last night, slow be valencia judiciary scourge cmi suburban scum also played so sparkman was also doing double duty destiny bond was on the last three shows as well from from uh denver okay uh this is my i've seen them now fucking five times in a month big fan punk hardcore from denver convulse records check them out
Starting point is 00:24:34 convulse has a crazy roster you can pretty much always uh he plays drums in the band as well. Convuls puts the band out, you can pretty much guarantee it's fucking solid stuff. Love that. Do great. So Denton, off without a hitch. We're late. I don't know what the fuck is going on.
Starting point is 00:24:56 Got to carry 15 boxes of merch through. Oh, that was a whole other thing. Oh, right. UPS, these cock suckers, dude. Scumbacks, dude. How are you going to guarantee a delivery and then not do what you guarantee? And then don't offer anything. And then, well, I think what they offered was that, okay, well, you don't have to pay the shipping now.
Starting point is 00:25:18 It's like, okay, great. That doesn't put the $15,000 worth of hoodies in my hand, you know? Like, what are you talking about? But anyway, those are gone. So at least they're gone. So it's fine. Thank you to those who picked those up. That was paying the ass.
Starting point is 00:25:34 Hey, they look great. Yeah. They're awesome. Double embroidered. Yeah. We spent a lot of time on them in hopes. to have something cool for Texas. Perfect.
Starting point is 00:25:45 Yeah. Destiny Bond Rocks had a great time. Finally time to play. And this felt like this felt like the one, you know? Oh, okay. Got you. Getting my gimmick on. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:58 Yeah. In ears worked magically at all these for like kind of the first real time. This was also maybe my favorite DFW area show ever of all time. Huge. So that's. 15 years into being a man You kind of hope that's the case Yeah of course
Starting point is 00:26:16 You want every Especially as like your return You want it to be The return and also like Like almost headlining Like we're direct support You know You want to feel like we're
Starting point is 00:26:28 We're bringing a single person To this show you know This was the show where During twitching tongues I tripped hard You tripped hard Tripped hard Trips hard, dude.
Starting point is 00:26:40 Big Tree fell hard. And I was so, I was so immediately embarrassed that, and Taylor's laughing at me. So I'm like, well, I have to dive now. And you did. So I did. There was a double dive, ravaged my body during these first two. First one, do something with my hand. And I'm like, I don't know what just happened in my hand, but that hurts.
Starting point is 00:27:04 Get back on stage. Go the other way. And you'll see here if you review the footage. The way my shins collide with the stage when I'm jumping back up, to this day is affecting the way that I walk. Some four days later. It looks. You might not think that this would be as brutal as it is, but if you review this footage right now, as I'm showing you, you'll see the impact of the shins. Why the fuck did I do that?
Starting point is 00:27:38 I just hopped onto the stage, shin first, and then roll. Oh, dude. And I'm standing there, shins on fire. Watching the rest of the set being like, internally looking out doing the like, yeah, okay, this mosh is awesome. This set is great. Standing there, screaming internally. Doing the Peter Griffin silent.
Starting point is 00:28:01 Truly, ah. And then I'm setting up drums immediately. Oh, my goodness. Going, ah. just absolutely in shambles. I'm going to be honest with you. I was very upset with you when I saw that footage. Because, dude, if you busted your kickfoot or one of your hands.
Starting point is 00:28:24 I did. But I mean, like, if you broke something, no one can fill in for you. Yeah, something is spraying somewhere for sure. One of my hands is not feeling good. But hey, the show must go on. they say. And then, sleep is such a magical thing.
Starting point is 00:28:45 Because despite all that, despite killing my bodies, moments prior, this is like the best God's hates that I've ever played. And a huge part of that was not singing.
Starting point is 00:28:59 I was untethered, Beau. It was unchained. Just free. I'm free. I'm going off. All you got to do, all you got to do is,
Starting point is 00:29:08 put everything to a click, play to your click, have your own backing track singing for you, and you don't have to say. That would be nice. Done. I don't want to play to a click, though. No, you don't. That would suck the swag out, I think, for me. You have some stuff that I couldn't even imagine. Did you play the self-titled to a click?
Starting point is 00:29:29 The record is not to a click, or it wasn't to scratch guitar either. I just played. Jesus Christ, that's right. There was nothing there. I didn't play. So I played to just my inner dialogue. being like, that was pretty good. So there's like almost, there's like no way to do it then.
Starting point is 00:29:43 That's crazy. Yeah, no, I would have to re, we would have to basically like re-record and remap the whole thing, which is just too much work. I'd rather just be a hardcore band. Yeah. Let it be fucked up. Yeah. Sick.
Starting point is 00:29:57 Yeah, sleep is incredible. I sang a little too hard. I was excited. For Twitching. Yeah. I sang a little too hard. And I could feel it, you know? Because it felt like the show.
Starting point is 00:30:07 You know, it was like, all right. At this show, I can go a little hard. Yeah, yeah, for sure. And then that, we went to Waterburger that night. Oh. That sucked. Really? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:30:21 Wow. I'm trying, guys. Yeah, yeah, no. I know you are. We have both said privately to one another. Like, yeah, I'm kind of down with what. It's pretty good. But this night, it was just like, this is not.
Starting point is 00:30:33 This isn't doing it for me. I'm done with chains, I think. Yeah. got to get into that. Let's talk about it. Let's talk about it. And here's the thing. And here's what it is. Let me explain. Somebody asked me, we're on this show talking about food every week, you know? People look at us like food guys. Yeah. That's the thing. Yeah. Whether or not the listener knows it, people are like asking us, hey, where should we eat in this city? All the time. And I'm embarrassed when I don't have a recommendation. Oh. And I don't have more recommendations for my own hometown.
Starting point is 00:31:06 How. Somebody asked me, a buddy asked me, hey, where should I eat here? And I didn't know. Really? And I felt ashamed. That's very, you've taken me to plenty of. I know some stuff, but I forget stuff. Oh, okay. Okay. I've forgotten more than I know. What did you say? So I made a pact to myself that every single, once a week this year, I'm going to eat somewhere I'd never been before. 52 new places. 52 new places this year, minimum.
Starting point is 00:31:36 And you live in a place where that's doable and you're going to be traveling. And I'm going to be traveling for sure. Mostly home. It's mostly so. I'm going to start a collection of like, hey, you're here. You're in what area? Oh, go to this place. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:31:48 That's how I want to be. I want to get there. I'm going to get there. So anyway, I ate Waterburger. It sucked. I want to like it, guys. I'm trying, but I don't know if it's happening. So this night, and let me tell you, Mac Miller was doing, was tour managing at both bands doing
Starting point is 00:32:06 merch for TT. He did an incredible job. He's a pro. He's my, he's my console Yeti in life and my other handler in all aspects. I fall apart without this man. He's booking all the hotels on price line. Yeah. Normally, no issues, you know? Sure. Price line was like 0 for four in terms of fucking us in some way. Took us forever to check in tonight. And then we, We were, it's like 1 a.m. something. We got to leave it, I think, like 8 or 9. Oh, my God. 2 a.m. hits.
Starting point is 00:32:47 It's spring forward. 3 a.m. hits. 3 a.m. hits. That was like a movie. You just took me through three acts of, of, it took an hour to check in, and then as soon as we get to the room, it's suddenly 3 a.m.
Starting point is 00:33:02 And it's a, it was a double suite. Double sweet Okay What they really meant was one bed and a couch Yeah that's not double It's not a double sweet But technically there's some technicality Because you could fit two people on each thing
Starting point is 00:33:22 Where they can say technically there are two beds Because the couch was a pull-out bed with the bar in the middle That kills you Of course The bar that kills you Yes the death bar You know the bar that kills you The murder
Starting point is 00:33:33 Oh my God And at this moment this is when I really feel like, oh, my body is still in Japan. And I'm not sleeping tonight. So can we figure out what time that would be in Japan? It was the next day at like 4 p.m. Yeah. And like exhaustion from the shows wasn't enough.
Starting point is 00:33:56 So I played Pokemon Shuffle for about six hours. Which if you haven't played Pokemon Shuffle, don't start. Mike Cesario got me hooked It's an iPhone game It's like bejewled But with Pokemon Oh fuck yeah You will
Starting point is 00:34:13 I've spent probably $60 in two weeks Because you run out of moves Yeah I have a new game for you That people have been suggesting For us It's called Balatro Have you looked into that?
Starting point is 00:34:27 No Bellotro is like a Big RPG based around poker and it's so satisfying and addicting. What is it for Steam? It's on everything. Steam Switch.
Starting point is 00:34:43 Balatro. Balatro. So it's like a story, but you gotta win poker games to... So it's a roguelike, meaning you're gonna fail. Yeah, no, no, no, no, but I'm telling you, it's so satisfied.
Starting point is 00:34:54 No, I like it. I mean, I like a rogue like. I like a tough challenge. It's a tough challenge. And like, the best part is there's jokers. They call them, they come in card packs. So you're opening cards too
Starting point is 00:35:05 that are free. Like you, you, as you advance to the rounds, you're getting chips because you're winning poker. Okay. You buy a buffoon pack.
Starting point is 00:35:13 And all of a sudden, there's, you have to choose. And one of the buffoons will be like, oh, every time you, uh, play a flush,
Starting point is 00:35:19 it's multiplied, your score is multiplied by eight. And those can all stack. So you start to do like, oh, clubs also. And, oh, dude. Yeah,
Starting point is 00:35:27 you got me. It's so satisfying. I'm in. I'm in. Yeah, yeah. It's awesome. Block.
Starting point is 00:35:32 I'm in. That's, I mean, did you ever play the golf story game? Yeah, dude. Dude, that's a banger. It's a great game. Mixing, mixing Pokemon and golfing is truly one of the greatest ideas of persons ever had. Yeah, that rocked. So, yeah, Austin is the next day.
Starting point is 00:35:48 I'm fucking shot. So when did you sleep? I slept on the way there for about an hour and a half. Oh, my fucking God. Yeah. So if you saw me walk around Austin, I was in shambles. And, you know, this is a city that's, normally not, that I'm like not, I'm not psyched to play there normally, you know, because it's a
Starting point is 00:36:08 different kind of crowd. It's like a music crowd rather than a go crazy crowd. And I love a go crazy crowd. Of course. So I don't know what to expect every time we play awesome because nine out of 10 times it's bad. Um, walked around that area before the show and like South by Southwest's movie thing was starting to pop off. Okay. You know? Like the movie thing was starting to happen. which felt really, like the shutter thing was next door to the venue. And I would have gone. I was too, I was a little bit late.
Starting point is 00:36:41 But friends of the show, Shutter invited me. That would have been nice. Damn. Shout out to Sam. But it was really weird to look around at like indie venues in Austin. And on the marquee, it'll just say like Forbes.
Starting point is 00:36:57 You know? Yeah. We played one. You show up and you're like, hey, we're playing over here. Because you could stop by security. Like, where, how do we load? Where can we park?
Starting point is 00:37:08 And the answer is literally wherever you can find. And then you're carrying all of your gear through people who are like not there for music. It's for the industry. It's to like schmooze and network. Yeah, everybody's rubbing elbows. They don't give a shit about you. We played the all in like stage. So that was like, it was a straight up hardcore show.
Starting point is 00:37:29 Oh, cool. But it was in. while all that other shit was going on. It's fucking crazy. You know that band, Hime? There's a video of them playing the first time they played
Starting point is 00:37:41 South by Southwest to like maybe 11 people. Jesus Christ. And one of them was probably like, these girls are pretty good. They might open for Taylor Swift next year, you know? And is it because those things are like invite only or something? Probably. And that's very much like the feel of it.
Starting point is 00:38:00 But then what's cool, which I will say. is like the all in stage happened. That was cool. And then like the DIY scene there, they do like generator shows on like pedestrian bridges and shit. That's awesome. There's shit like that going on that is really cool.
Starting point is 00:38:14 So I'm not. That's where like the kids who actually participate week to week and aren't there for some corporate sponsored thing. Yeah. Are psyched to be there. And those are the things that get shut down. Right. Right.
Starting point is 00:38:24 Immediately. We were supposed to play one. It got shut down before we could play. There you go. Yeah. Boom. Forbes on the marquee. not for me.
Starting point is 00:38:33 Went to Houndstooth coffee. I've had Hounstooth coffee. Yeah, there's Hounstooth in Dallas as well. Really? My mom lived right by one and I would go all the time. That was the cup of the trip, I think. Oh, very nice. I had the, there was a lavender, co-brew lemonade.
Starting point is 00:38:52 I know. Man, maybe with the lemonade I would try it. I know. That's what I'm saying. Yeah. Because it's like you're getting some floral with the fruit anyway. Yeah. But it really just kind of like,
Starting point is 00:39:02 ha. Okay. Ha, it was angelic. I would try it. I know. I agree with you. Yeah,
Starting point is 00:39:09 I'm not down with the flower. I don't need dirt in my mud. I don't. Don't need it. But in this case, it was really good. Okay. I would try it.
Starting point is 00:39:22 Yeah, I felt like pure dog shit at the show. And it's such a shame because Mohawk is like the coolest place. It's awesome. Okay, I wanted to ask you this while you're there. was the guy hanging in your green room?
Starting point is 00:39:34 Oh my God. The guy? The guy. The ball guy. The ball guy. Here's the thing. Tell me the thing. By the end of the night, I loved him.
Starting point is 00:39:49 Okay. He made sure all of our shit stayed safe. But did he? Did he though? In front of my eyes while I was sitting upstairs. I don't even know if anyone else was in there. Maybe somebody from Jibomb. a kid came up from another show going on
Starting point is 00:40:05 and was like looking around the green room and he kicked him out immediately. He was on him like a hawk. Our show had 12 bands. So I think he had a hard time keeping up with who was in what. Yeah. So he would kind of just be like, are you in a band?
Starting point is 00:40:19 And they're like, yeah. And he'd be like, okay. He was intense, man. Really interesting guy. Yeah, he had some stories. but just making sure your shit doesn't get stolen and frankly yeah I didn't see any of that
Starting point is 00:40:36 but I think I think that's his goal the door so the door says something like like knock no it says something like we're here to protect your craft beer and your and something British says some British thing and then he repeated that
Starting point is 00:40:56 at one point and it was like okay so you wrote that note on it door. Yeah. Interesting guy. Very intense. Interesting guy, for sure. Yeah, this show was good.
Starting point is 00:41:12 I really like the kind of like Roman Coliseum aspect of Mohawk. The fact that like A, there's not really a bad place to watch from. And there's a PA up there. And there's a PA up there. And like,
Starting point is 00:41:28 I don't know. It's so rare to play something that's kind of out, it is outdoors. Yeah. And like, Denton was outdoors too, but this was like a different feeling because it's like, really anywhere you look, there's somebody there. Somebody watching, yeah. Very cool.
Starting point is 00:41:44 I'd never played there. And Judiciary had never played there. And they'd express that that's like the venue they go to the most. Yeah. So that was cool that they got to do that. Did you get any Texas barbecue besides that brisket? Dude, when you're that tired and you have that. that much physically demanding work to do.
Starting point is 00:42:05 I knew that barbecue would have literally killed me, I think. I see. Everybody else went to Terry Blacks and the place next to Mohawk. I knew, and they were all fucked up, you know? Oh, interesting. They're playing the set like, blah. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:42:21 And I knew, I was like, I'm not going to deal with that on top of everything else I have to do. You're on your athletic greens, just, shh-da-da-da-da-da-da. I literally was, man. I'm sipping it down to the point where people are like, what is that? And I'm like, all my daily vitamins, probiotics, prebiotics. If you go to athletic greens.com slash hardlore, you can get five free travel packs of AG1. And let me guess. You brought them travel packs with you.
Starting point is 00:42:51 Absolutely. Every single day, I genuinely can credit them as a major source of why I was able to sustain that much. It's making sure it delivers what you need in a convenient way, you know? Yeah. I mean, it's truly like, hey, they've done the research. They know what the body is missing. You know, they knew specifically what my body was missing.
Starting point is 00:43:18 And that's why they reached out to us. They know, they're like, hey, these are traveling guys. We've made the perfect traveling thing to keep you alive, keep you going. And they kept me alive. They kept me going. So thank you to AG1. Five free travel packs. Your supply of vitamin D.
Starting point is 00:43:35 Athletic Greens.com slash hardlore. Check it out right now. Honestly, the bottle itself is like... Oh. You're going to want that bottle. And the green tub, dude. I love the tub. The metal spoon.
Starting point is 00:43:47 Listen, the experience, they've got it. They figured it out. They figured it out. You know who else is figured it out? I really do. Manscaped. Fuck, Manscaped. Thank you so much Manscaped.
Starting point is 00:43:57 Two years and running. Friends of the show. the original sponsors of the show. Wow. This is another thing that four days of rocking is going to keep you four days of stanking. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:44:09 But not for me. What'd you bring in your toiletry bag? Preserver. Yeah. Cleenser. Mop. I'm skated up. You couldn't catch me lacking on the skate.
Starting point is 00:44:22 I guarantee you. And I challenge you. There was not a second after a set where somebody could come by. and smell me. And like, we don't have an excuse now. You know, we can't ever smell bad. Where they're not, we're, we're, we're, we're, I can't be stinky.
Starting point is 00:44:37 I can't be caught stinky ever again. And I won't be thanks to manscaped. The body wash. You, I got to have it with me. The cleanser. I got to have it with me. The, the, the, the second I wake up, I'm spritz in that, you know, if I'm going to the gym first, I'm not shower.
Starting point is 00:44:55 Not shower. Yeah, yeah. Boom. Because I don't want to waste that much water. It's a precious resource. you know why bathe when you can revive manscaped
Starting point is 00:45:05 he does it every God Arthor 20% off I got a challenge for you all Peeroy's records sent us a couple copies of the Chisel What a fucking nightmare The new album
Starting point is 00:45:19 I think it's our album of the year so far I want you in the comments below to type in the dumbest fucking nightmare you've ever had And our favorite one will win a copy of The Chisles.
Starting point is 00:45:35 What a fucking nightmare. Can I tell you mine? You're disqualified, but yes. Yeah, that's okay. Just maybe to inspire someone. I was really into The Little Mermaid when I was a kid, like four or five. In what way? Just thought the movie was cool.
Starting point is 00:45:49 I just liked it. Oh. Not, not, I just liked it. I liked the colors. And I had a dream that my mom and I were running. running on sidewalk to get away from Ursula. And Ursula was eating up sidewalk like spaghetti. And she ate my mom.
Starting point is 00:46:06 And I never watched the example. Oh, dude. That's pretty scary. And I remember, I remember the feeling of like, oh, my God, Ursula ate my mom. The Bo Looders autobiography is going to go crazy someday. I can't wait for the Little Mermaid chapter. I can't wait for the Blair Witch chapter.
Starting point is 00:46:29 Oh, my God. I can't wait for the spit my rage downpicking chapter. My parents. My dumbest nightmare I ever had was the song Sleep Therapy is about it. And it was about a nightmare I had regarding Princess Peach. I was basically Mario. Oh. And I had to save her from a castle.
Starting point is 00:46:51 Yeah. But there was all kinds of fucked up stuff going on. And I was aware that I was dreaming in it and couldn't escape it. Hence the I don't ever want to sleep again. And I guess I I guess I took that to heart because of war. You called your shot. Brother does not sleep.
Starting point is 00:47:08 But I do now. As of this week, I sleep now. Also, this was the first God's hate set in Austin. Back to Austin. Moho. Oh, ever? Twitch and Tongue set was good.
Starting point is 00:47:20 I had a great time. It was still kind of bright out, you know? So there's a little bit of like, nah. It got dark right as we finished. This was my favorite Austin set of all time Easily And a huge part of that is because of how many
Starting point is 00:47:36 San Antonioans And people from Corpus Christi That I recognize there So I'm sure a good chunk of them were from Austin I appreciate you all But the San Antonio people The Corpus Christi people are day one Pitters
Starting point is 00:47:51 And seeing them out there It's like, okay, I'm going to be fine Yeah You guys know how much we love Santa and tone Absolutely Big time
Starting point is 00:48:01 We really do So I had a great time During that Taylor had some tech diffs Which is never fun At a big cool venue Like that God's hate set
Starting point is 00:48:10 First time I ever played Without splashes Wow Why happened No stands Why no stand I usually travel With an arm
Starting point is 00:48:23 Like a stand arm So I can at least Have one guaranteed That broken in transit. Fuck. Yeah. So no splashes.
Starting point is 00:48:32 So I was doing like hat China instead. You know, like, and like ride hat China like ding. You know? A little bit of that. How did you do the da-na? I went dun-dunk. China.
Starting point is 00:48:46 Dun-dun-dun-dun-hat-China. Gottun-dun-dunk. Uh, ride. It went bidda-da-da-da-da-da. Dan. Yeah. Bell. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:48:58 So that was not fun. That was really the only time where I think you would notice, but you know, but I do so many little things with them. I like to splash around a little. Yeah, you're a little bit. I felt naked without him. But I played pretty good. I don't know, something about being tired from singing, makes drumming not.
Starting point is 00:49:17 Maybe it's just because your body's warm and loose. Maybe. So really wasn't, I would say, I could do four in a row again. I don't want to. I probably never will. If I knew for a fact my voice would not die, I would be fine. But by Austin, it was very shot from, not very shot, but like going to be shot because of the lack of sleep. Like if there was a fifth.
Starting point is 00:49:48 Oh, it wouldn't have happened. The next day I could not talk. Yeah. Like 100%. In San Diego was nuts. Suburban scum was crazy. CMI was nuts. Austin was climbing all over shit.
Starting point is 00:50:01 Judiciary, that's the thing is like this started at 5 p.m. You know? Good Lord. What day of the week was it? This was Saturday. Sunday? Sunday.
Starting point is 00:50:11 This was yesterday? No. It was over a week ago. Week ago. Jesus. I'm flipping through time. I know. Yeah, that was Sunday.
Starting point is 00:50:22 Concrete Elite and St. Peeler also played. Friends of the show, St. Peeler. after Austin we went to Bucky's and that night I slept hard
Starting point is 00:50:37 big time because I was like I took two Benadryl the hat man I didn't see him he knew you needed it he gave them he was like I'm gonna give this
Starting point is 00:50:48 motherfucker than I know you know there's a Benadryl subreddit really about people who like try to see the hat man oh yeah yeah that was like kind of viral
Starting point is 00:50:58 tidepods kind of thing for a bit. It's interesting. It does, dude, I mean, you know, you hear stories about people
Starting point is 00:51:06 who do whatever various psychedelics and drugs and stuff who all see a common thing. And it's like, well, how, what's that? What is that?
Starting point is 00:51:13 Why wouldn't we all have like these, uh, sleep paralysis? Why are we seeing shit? Collective psychosis, you know? Yeah, what is,
Starting point is 00:51:21 yeah. But it's on, it's on, it's like we're not talking about it, you know? Yeah. There's no net. There is.
Starting point is 00:51:27 There is now, but we weren't aware of like a network of people connecting over this thing. Yeah. But I've seen the hatman. Have you? Oh, yeah. And we've had guests that have seen the hat man before, without knowing he was the hatman. Didn't see him this time. I was too tired.
Starting point is 00:51:44 He let me go. Yeah. He went. Yeah, exactly. I went to Buckees every single day. San Antonio, a city that we specifically asked to play. historically our best Texas market. I would say this was probably the weakest of the four shows to no fault of anyone in particular.
Starting point is 00:52:05 A lot of people traveled to all four. Because they can just do that there. They can just do that. I would say most people went to at least two. So by the end of the fourth one, I'm tired, I'm tired, they're tired. We're all tired. How much is four of those shows? Money?
Starting point is 00:52:23 Yeah, it's got to be over a hundred bucks. Yeah, no, I would imagine. And so I don't know. I didn't ask. Yeah, yeah, but you know. Yeah, exactly. I totally get that. 100%.
Starting point is 00:52:33 I had an incredibly kind local San Antonio sent me a list of recommendations that were mostly closed before two, sadly. So I didn't get to try many of them. Dude. No coffee. It was a Monday. It being a Monday, things close. No coffee spot should stop serving beans before, honestly, seven. PM.
Starting point is 00:52:56 7 p.m. I would say five. It's 4.30. I'm hankering for cup number two. I just want to go a little later to let the people get off at five. Maybe they need a cup. That's what's good. This 2 PM crap is,
Starting point is 00:53:10 is classist. It kind of is actually. It's fucking crazy. And when I'm waking up at two. Is that why you love collectivo so much? Because they're the only thing open. They're the, yeah.
Starting point is 00:53:28 Coffee's good, though, right? Coffee, yeah, it's fine. It's fine. So it's, oh, wow. I haven't paid in many moons. They're very kind to me. They just know me as a regular, so, you know. So you don't pay?
Starting point is 00:53:51 I haven't paid in like two years. Dude, what? I don't have anything like that here. Really? I don't have anything like that. Mid that hour, I guess, but. I've lived in the same neighborhood for 11 years. years this month.
Starting point is 00:54:02 Yeah, but same apartment this month, 11 years. Hey, I talk to people. You know, I have not. Yeah, I don't really, and that's maybe to a fault of my own. But man, I got no local hookups anywhere. I mean, I got Arcterics. That's a pretty good one. I got double R.
Starting point is 00:54:23 That's pretty good one. But like food and coffee, that's, yeah. It's a big chunk of the yearly budge, you know. It, dude. I got nothing. You got sushi out there? Yeah. I don't got nothing.
Starting point is 00:54:35 Got some good stuff. If you work at a thing around me, let me know. Yeah. I'm on my way. No chains. Can't do it. Can't do it. I'm out.
Starting point is 00:54:47 Does that, so let me ask you something. Portillo's is a chain. Not, I mean, it ain't here. Not here. I don't get it. Listen, the whole goal is to try one new thing a week, all right? Okay. That I can totally get behind.
Starting point is 00:55:01 That's 99% of the goal. But I think I eat. I give too many monies to, these chains. I don't want to give this many monies to them no more. That's what it is. Yeah. What did,
Starting point is 00:55:14 there was a tweet very recently that was like going out and spending $17 a day doesn't sound like a big deal until you look at it over a year and realize it's like 40 grand or something or like 27 grand or something. Like if you do, if you do the math, do 17 times 365. 6,200. Okay.
Starting point is 00:55:38 Maybe the initial number was more. It was some number that like, I was like, oh my God. Yeah. Oh, no. It was a five-digit number for sure. So whatever the initial thing was higher. It might have been like $40 a day or something. Yeah, something.
Starting point is 00:55:51 But like. Which what is better than spending $40? I saw another thing once where someone said that a $20 bill as an adult is like a $1 bill as a kid. And it's like, fuck, man. Nothing is less than $20. Nothing. Nothing I do is less than $20 ever. Except for in and out, which is a chain.
Starting point is 00:56:11 But I got to let them slide, I think. That don't count. That's a local establishment. My favorite local restaurant. She recommended Tacos El Reggio, which was next to the venue, the White Rabbit. Yeah, yeah. Or it's not called the White, Paper Tiger, it's called. Played the White Rabbit before.
Starting point is 00:56:31 Okay, the yellow taco truck. Uh-huh. I don't know if you went there. Didn't. Delicious. I had a crazy cassidia. Highly recommend if you're in San Antonio. I bet you know about it already if you're in San Antonio.
Starting point is 00:56:45 So I don't know, never mind. Coffee wise, we had to go to this like moon place, like a moon gimmick. You've been there? Nope. Blue moon or some shit. The whole gimmick is they have this sweet milk called like moon milk. Yeah. It was the sweetest, most vile thing I've ever had.
Starting point is 00:57:02 Don't go then. I don't like that. Don't do it. I got really lucky with sound people on these shows. Oh. Oh, did Anthony not go with? Anthony did. But he didn't do sound?
Starting point is 00:57:14 Anthony did sound for incendiary. But we had, we kind of, we used the local front of house people every night. I've made it a point to be very nice to them. Anytime I can, you know. You're appeasing the sound. I have, I have to pay tribute to the local front of house lord, you know? whatever they need for me is totally fine I want my in-ears to work
Starting point is 00:57:36 I want my mic to work and they did every single night most of the time especially if you're playing like an actual like Mohawk has so many shows they can't have a fucking asshole sound guy no and that's a great squat dude yeah yeah
Starting point is 00:57:55 pulling up and they're like oh come on they immediately helped load all the whole thing that was amazing They had so much information about like the area and the venue and like where to go, where to put my ears. Something I've been doing with them recently. I know that in-ear monitors are very intimidating. That's kind of the reason I held off on them so long. But you can just replace a wedge with them.
Starting point is 00:58:18 Yeah. So I've, there's been a center wedge every time I've played and there doesn't need to be. Oh. So they started just being like, yeah, just unplug the center wedge and put it off to the side. So when I get out there, it is like the transmitter. is next to me, you know? Yeah. So I'm crystal clear.
Starting point is 00:58:35 If you're singing along, it is inside my brain. Just know that. That clip from F. Y.A. went up last week where the guy is mush-mouthed and pretty hard. Oh, that's good stuff.
Starting point is 00:58:48 I thought he was saying bastard liar, hypocrite at the wrong time because it kind of sounds like that, but he's just, yeah. FYI clip is amazing. Here it is. I think that's something that people singing along ever to somebody with in-ears, which I'm sure you're probably
Starting point is 00:59:12 one of the only people who's handing out a mic wearing in-eers. Yeah. Like, there's only a handful of people doing that. As often as I am, I'd be handing that fucking thing out. There's no way people realize in the moment that the singer is hearing a hundred percent.
Starting point is 00:59:26 The crystallist-clearist version of what you're saying anyone's ever heard. It makes it so much, I'm having so much more fun. Yeah. You know? Hearing yourself is great. hearing other people incredible I really recommend
Starting point is 00:59:41 love it this was the night where it was like all right I got this is last set any ounce of energy I have is getting used oh I know what's I know what happened I remember so every night I'm looking out at this
Starting point is 00:59:54 at like this big you know there's a crowd of people at the front avoiding mosh so I'm like all right this is a perfect place for me to for me to take a tumble on to so the first First dive in San Antonio was the most beautiful front flip I've ever flipped.
Starting point is 01:00:18 It was very, very just like gymnast-esque front flip. Landed on my feet. And in the moment, said out loud, oh wow, I landed on my feet. Get back on stage. And I'm like, all right, well, there's a whole other side. I got to do this again. And you can see, you can see in this video that the crowd
Starting point is 01:00:44 over there is only crowded because there's a big monitor there. So they're hiding this monitor from me. So I'm I go full send. Yeah, you're fully committed. Full committed.
Starting point is 01:01:00 And you can see in this video right here my body thuds monitor thuds ground. There's a very distinct boom, boom. I didn't feel a thing, luckily. That's good. That's good.
Starting point is 01:01:19 Until later. Poor boy. Yeah, right. But in that moment, it was like, all right, this is last moment. This is the last time I'm ever doing these four sets back to back. Again, I might as well go hard. That happened. Get back on stage.
Starting point is 01:01:35 We're done. Immediately between, between setting up both sets, a guy standing at the front going, Hey, yo, let me get a pick. Let me get a pick. Pick. Picture. I'm drenched in sweat in ways you wouldn't believe. Holding symbols pouring sweat out of my ass.
Starting point is 01:01:58 Wettest ass you've ever seen from sweat as well as other things. Pick! Oh, my God. Let me get a pick. Which is great. You know, I love that anybody wants that. Of course. But God.
Starting point is 01:02:12 Give me a fucking. minute, man. Give me a minute, brother. Give me one minute. Yeah, that one went great. Even the got set set felt really good because I had my splash's back, you know. I was back to full power.
Starting point is 01:02:27 Super Sand Splash. Finally. Did a cool interview with Crunchyroll the other day. Did you? Yeah. About Dragon Ball and persona and Studio Ghibli. Look out for that soon. Damn. Sick. That was cool. That felt
Starting point is 01:02:45 cool but long time subscriber had a blast in texas we all did um both bands thank you tremendously tremendously we'll never do it again yeah so i hope that if you went you enjoyed it i will never do it again so what was the the following how'd you wake up feeling oh cooked dude just absolutely cooked but Since then, I've slept at least 10 hours a day every single day. Very nice. Which I haven't done in my life since, like, elementary school. Very nice. And I think not doing an episode last week truly saved me.
Starting point is 01:03:27 There was just no way. There was no way. It literally was not, like, physically possible. Yeah, yeah. Because I landed Tuesday night. I couldn't have turned something around that fast. Oh, true. Yeah, true.
Starting point is 01:03:38 But Texas rocks. I really, you know, I love the group of guys. that we got with us we got Mike back you know Sean is insane got to have Martine with us for all four shows
Starting point is 01:03:53 which is you know he can't always be there yeah right so that was great Tony is an everlasting fountain of joy dude just a lighthouse of fun
Starting point is 01:04:03 truly like no matter he's I've never he's never complained about anything you know he's so funny and then Mike is like so helpful
Starting point is 01:04:12 and upbeat as well and positive. He's a sleepy guy, for sure. Yeah. But he's the other guy that'll come in the room and, like, do like a kickflip off you, off your shoulder, you know? Yeah. And you're back in good spirits.
Starting point is 01:04:28 Alec is, Alec, that was the least sleepy Alec has ever been, which was crazy, because he's normally the sleepy guy. Is he dad guy? So he's changed now? Yeah, I think this was vacation for him, you know? Gotcha, yeah.
Starting point is 01:04:39 Post-dad life. He played great. never messed up once. Taylor. Taylor was, you know, these are the double duty guys, you know, me, Alec and Taylor. Oh, right. Of course. We were, we were out there grinding, dude.
Starting point is 01:04:56 And, you know, God, we made it work. Taylor had, like, the first, for his first technical difficulty in, like, five years, which I think he was, he was pissed about. And I think it was just a cable. Might have been the guitar, but I think it was, like, if anything, I think it might have just been a, a which how annoying is that?
Starting point is 01:05:15 I had one at the fest we played in San Francisco last month. While the intro is going, my guitar suddenly stopped. And someone had walked by and hit the speaker cable out of the cab. Like it wasn't in all the way. And thankfully, that was the first thing I tried. I just had a few. Because there was a bunch of people walking and I just right in. Holy shit.
Starting point is 01:05:42 Leave it alone. Yeah, dude. Get out of there! All right, we got some Discord questions about this run. Before we do that, should we talk about the new venture? Everyone listening. Very important message. The Hardlore Patreon has arrived.
Starting point is 01:05:59 It's here. Patreon.com slash hardlore pod, everyone. Make sure you add that pod. You got to add the pod. We don't know about that other guy. We got nothing to do with him. But yeah, it's finally here. Thank you for your patience.
Starting point is 01:06:12 A lot of people have been asking us for this for a long. time. Yeah. You know, we felt like maybe it wasn't time yet or we didn't have anything to offer. And now we kind of, we figured it out. Without saying too much, basically, if we were to continue the way that we happen, where we're going to stuff, where episodes are coming out weekly, where like stuff like stuff like this is happening, this has to happen.
Starting point is 01:06:35 It has to do that. Yeah. Especially because I, I don't have the time to be the like sole editor anymore. So a huge part of the reasoning behind this is just to get high pay somebody to be part of the show and make this stuff happen. So get on over to patreon.com slash hardlore pod right now and become a member. And it's it's live. I'm excited to see stuff rolling in. All right.
Starting point is 01:06:58 We're going to go to the Discord with our Texas questions. Here we go. John Boyga asked how much water burger was consumed one. One water burger was consumed. It sucked. Phantom Not asked best barbecue of the weekend. For everybody else, I think it was Terry Blacks. For me, it was Buckees.
Starting point is 01:07:21 How do you feel about, do you like ribs? I love ribs. A brisket is my cane. But if you see like a nice beef rib, are you interested in beef ribs? I'm not a beef rib guy as much. Yeah. I'm a pig man. It's less flavorful.
Starting point is 01:07:36 The cuter animal. Yeah, it's fucked up. I do love a cow. I love a cow. I'm like minutes from being propagandized into being vegan, you know. I'm one cute, I'm holding one pig away from being like, all right, I'm done. Were you ever a vegetarian? I was vegan for 32 days.
Starting point is 01:07:59 Ask me anything. Was that recent? Yeah, it was kind of recent, right? 2018, I think. 2018. I was so skinny, dude. I was radicalized by one of them PETA videos, you know, in high school. converted me instantly.
Starting point is 01:08:13 Yeah. And then you get fucking a wing, a wing. And it's like, yeah, yeah, no, this is good. Is everything actually bigger in Texas? Absolutely. The fast food cup sizes, the water burger large cup is one of the most, the European mind could never comprehend it. It is one of the most hilariously large orifices I've ever seen.
Starting point is 01:08:41 You ever look in the mirror? How about the fucking, the like on-off ramp systems in Texas? Yeah. To turn around? Yeah. Just. It's a 15-minute endeavor, if you're missing. I had to walk across one once because I wanted to give food near a venue.
Starting point is 01:08:58 That's crazy. It took 20 minutes. The dichotomy between Taylor driving and Brody driving are really funny because Brody's whole thing is like, this is the exit. Like, oops, this is it. And he makes it, you know? Yeah. Taylor will silently pass the exit and be like, missed it. And suddenly 45 minutes will be added to the drive.
Starting point is 01:09:22 And you'll be like, hmm, that's interesting. What happened? But yeah, it's either die or get there a little later. So, where did you all eat in Denton? I don't think I ate in Denton at all. Buckees. I was very hungry. I ate Buckees.
Starting point is 01:09:36 Tell us in detail your lowest point. I can do that. I think I can do that. All day during the Austin show, I was sitting on the couch in that green room, just like, I can't do it. Really? Can't do it? I don't think I'm doing it today. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:09:53 I don't think I can physically get up. Wow. I was so sleepy, dude. What did it? Had to. Yeah, just sheer power. And that one went by so fast, dude. It was like, Judas year is playing.
Starting point is 01:10:07 I'm next. Like three hours went by. Shit. I don't know how, man. Somebody said, you go into Big Ben? No. I already did the Thor. Is Diet Coke bigger in Texas?
Starting point is 01:10:20 No. At Waterberger, it is. Texas monster is good or bad? Very good. Got to give it up to Chance, the king. One of the great monsters of the world. Out of his mind. I don't know how he does it, man.
Starting point is 01:10:34 How old is he? Do you know? Old enough. To be okay after that, which is crazy. I throw four. Four dives total this whole weekend, you know. I'm still hurting. I'm thinking about hay breed this weekend at LDB, and I'm like, I don't got, I don't
Starting point is 01:10:54 got many lives left, you know? No, I got one. I'm on my last one, I think. Especially after that. Does your feet hurt? Yeah. How many times did you do the stars at night? I tried one time.
Starting point is 01:11:09 It didn't work. Really? So I think they're sick of it, you know? Yeah, they're over it. Texas hardcore Mount Rushmore I think this is easy Yeah Bitter End
Starting point is 01:11:20 Iron Age Power Trip 4th one is the tough one Because that's the easy Kind of holy Trinity trifecta Which you've seen that mean Yeah For sure
Starting point is 01:11:33 It might be will to live Because they were kind of holding it down At that time In their own little world You know What about judiciary? Judiciary, I think, would be, would be, like, personally, I would say. Yeah, but you're saying more...
Starting point is 01:11:49 They're carrying the Texas torch around the world more than really anybody right now. So, yeah, it might be judiciary. Did you collapse to the floor at the end of the run and kiss it like a man returning to Earth after a crazy space mission? I didn't do that, but that is how I feel eating ice cream at the end of a twitching tongue store. I can't eat ice cream while seeing. So throughout the entire duration when I am somewhere to sing, I'm not eating cold dairy products. I know I've told this story before,
Starting point is 01:12:24 but I often think about finishing a 30-day tour in Chicago at the double door, which is now the Yeti store in Wicker Park. You said, thanks a lot, good night, grabbed a jacket, walked outside in the winter, straight to Jenny's. Straight to Jenny's. He's got two cones. gave me the second one for free because they loved that I got another one.
Starting point is 01:12:45 Didn't go to the Alamo. I love ice cream. Any regional differences in pit styles and vibes. What are defining factors for Texas? Texas is violent. Especially San Antonio. Especially San Antonio, especially Dallas was super violent in a way. We love.
Starting point is 01:13:06 Yeah. We don't stop for fights. I know that, you know, I understand when bands do. But the way that we've crafted our songs is like, they're kind of doing what we set them out to do. Yeah. If I'm watching Roadhouse, you know,
Starting point is 01:13:24 and a song comes on that makes people start fighting, I'm going to be like, guys, stop, turn the song off. Astro World, Lamb of God stuff, hate breed stuff. I get it. But time and place, our time and our place, we're not stopping. We're celebrating. I'm trying to think of like regional styles too.
Starting point is 01:13:46 Because after California, I would say the only other place I've ever seen circle pits like naturally happen is Texas. Yeah. I will say in San Antonio, a lot, a thing a lot of people were doing is they were pulling my shirt when diving. Bad move. Bad form. That's why that ultimately is why I started diving. I was furious. I was pissed at the end there.
Starting point is 01:14:11 Yeah. Because you're pulling my head and stretching my shirt to get your dive in. You suck at diving, if that's the case. You don't have to engage in physical contact with anybody to stage dive. No, I've definitely done it, and I feel bad every time. You know what I mean? Because I know if somebody stretch the collar out on my shirt. And it happens to me every time.
Starting point is 01:14:33 They get it right here. Yeah. Or they get it right here. And then the shirt's never the same, you know? And then I can't wear the shirt. anymore. And my shirt's barely fit to begin with. But ultimately, they're going off and I appreciate that.
Starting point is 01:14:49 So that's the most important thing. But, you know, dive etiquette. As my good friend, Dressis' trip once said, I'm not a fucking superhero. Can't jump on me. What is the Texas reason for? President dead. Kennedy dead.
Starting point is 01:15:07 I recently saw the video for the first time. Is it a Bruton? What? What video? No, of Kennedy getting shot. This is a Pruder film.
Starting point is 01:15:17 Oh, yeah. I never seen it until this year. Really? Wild stuff. I saw it in middle school. Oh, not me. I wasn't on that corner of the internet, I guess. Neither.
Starting point is 01:15:28 I saw it in school. Oh, really? A classroom, yeah. Dude, it is snarl. Yeah. She's trying to escape. No. Do you think she's looking out for him?
Starting point is 01:15:39 No, there's misconceptions. There's many theories. Some people think she's trying to escape. Other think that she, handed a doctor a large chunk of his head at the hospital when they got to Parkland. And that's what she's grabbing in that moment. Now, whether she got up to grab it or she got up trying to escape was... The huge chunk was on the back of the car?
Starting point is 01:16:02 It looks like she's crawling out of the car. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, they were back into the left. Who do you think killed? History, man. Tell me. Dude. FBI? If you really want me to go into it, it won't take it. It won't take long. It's a combination of mafia hires.
Starting point is 01:16:20 Right. That makes sense because they got him elected to some extent. In Illinois. Mafia hires and Pentagon slash like former CIA who we canned over the Bay of Pigs, which also ties in all the Cuban shit. I mean, he and his brother disrupted serious shit that was going on. Big time. His brother was the unexpected wrenching the works, right?
Starting point is 01:16:47 Yeah. And what's crazy about Bobby was he was like a legit Catholic. Like he was like, you're not going to do that kind of a thing. Like he was not. I'm immensely guilty over what I've done. So I must fix it. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:17:01 But he was, you know, there's an excellent podcast called death is just around the corner. And he has five, a five part series on JFK. And the last one is the day. And like what happened? to his belief.
Starting point is 01:17:15 A guy named Jimmy Files pulled the trigger. Really? Jimmy Files. Not the other guy. Lee Harvey Iswald was probably not there. Framed? Yeah. Was he just a nut job?
Starting point is 01:17:30 And they were like, yeah, let's just say it was this guy. No, no, he was a military asset. He like legit went to the Soviet Union to, after working and after being in the military and working on like bombers and shit here, he revoked his American citizenship, went to the Soviet Union, worked there in Minsk, found a girl. Which America didn't like that for sure. It found a girl came back with a ticket paid for by the state department and then got a job
Starting point is 01:18:03 at the book depository. You ever go? Have you been to the spot in Dallas? Oh, yeah. Have you been behind the fence where they say this is blah? So you can get behind that fence that's on the rail yard. And when you see a car go by and you just kind of like think about it and line it up and it's like, all right. That's not a chance. Yeah, I don't think so.
Starting point is 01:18:24 All right. Death is just on the corner. Look up that. That's our official stance. That's how it happened. Lee Harvey Oswald, innocent. Allegedly CIA agent listening. That's right.
Starting point is 01:18:38 Let's see what we got. best bathroom in Texas Buckies Oh yeah Hands down It's the full stall Love a full stall dude It's amazing
Starting point is 01:18:47 That's I'll tell you what That's one thing Europe's really got right The full stall Most of the time What are we doing dude I don't know I don't know George Costanza makes one of the best points
Starting point is 01:18:56 Where it's like If for fear of a faulty lock We have these shorter stalls Then the problem is the lock Yeah 100% There has to be another system I got it I'm getting a Japanese
Starting point is 01:19:09 toilet, I think. I got to do some research. I missed the music. I missed the automatic seat, dude, when you push the button and the seat opens? Yeah, that's nice. I bet you could get that on a motion sensor too, you know? Absolutely. I got to look it up. I got to see it. I got a question for you.
Starting point is 01:19:28 Hit me. My question is Dune. Oh, dude. Yeah. How do we talk about this without spoiling it for the people who have to see? Just talk about the experience. Don't talk about the story. The experience of Dune 2. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:19:45 We, as you said, you said, stayed to this brilliantly. We are witnessing a generational classic, not unlike Lord of the Rings. We, we are so lucky to be live witnessing cinematic history. I really think that was their two towers. 100%. I think it is the best constructed, best look. working, most well-paced and best-built universe in a sci-fi movie ever. I think it is the best sci-fi film ever made.
Starting point is 01:20:29 Amazing. And I argue, I don't care. Yeah, yeah, truly, like, it doesn't matter because it's very rare I leave a movie that's this, you know, so much is pumped into it and so much anticipation, blah, blah. And I'm like immediately looking shit up. I'm immediately on the movies Reddit to see what I missed. Also, I saw it two weeks late. Yeah, you did.
Starting point is 01:20:52 So I saw it with two weeks of this is the greatest movie of all time in my head. Which makes me go in thinking there's no way it's this good. I was going to see it about five days late. And then Taylor came down and it was out. And we both were just like, let's go see it. We got to do it. I saw it in I didn't want to lose anything. you know what format did you see it in iMex yeah i'm not not seeing it you know i'm a snob i know
Starting point is 01:21:17 know so i know i know so i'm sick in the theater boat and it's to the point where this was almost bad it was almost the problem i had a couple next to me who he was like there there's alcohol at the one i went to so they're taking tips and being like hmm oh no so before the movie starts i'm sitting there teeth clenched Lana cancels her Stubbs membership while next to me because she's like, I can't come with you anymore. And I get it. I get it. Listen, I get that I'm emotional and strong-willed and intense in the movies, but I can't take it anymore.
Starting point is 01:21:57 I won't stand for it anymore. It's over. I don't understand the concept of, I think you had a tweet that I think you hit a nerve. You hit something that has some truth to it about what COVID has done. It's COVID. What isolation has done to people. It's selfish. Everybody's selfish. The world is selfish.
Starting point is 01:22:18 They think they're the main fucking characters everywhere they go. This extends to so many facets of the world. It does. It does. But in the movie theaters, it is sickening. People, during Priscilla, dude, I went to see that dog shit movie. It sucks. The scene where they're getting married, which is like a dark scene.
Starting point is 01:22:37 She's a child. You know? Yeah. A girl for the vibes Flash on stands up and takes a picture of the scene. So of course I'm like, hey, idiot! Knock it off! I can't take it anymore, man.
Starting point is 01:22:53 I'm going up to your ear and I'm saying, fucking, and the point, like now, I'm working on a shirt collection here. Okay. I'll have some, here I'll give you a preview. Here's my new shirts. You can buy them soon.
Starting point is 01:23:11 available soon how has no other place filled the arc light standard well alamo draft house absolutely has but there's not enough of them and i think they like filed for bankruptcy at one point so i don't know if their their method of operations is fun is like sustainable yeah but they respect the movies and that you can snitch on anybody around you and it's like they they understand that it's their job
Starting point is 01:23:43 to maintain the order, whereas AMC theaters has stated and acted time and time again as if it is my job to maintain order at the movies. So I will take that job. It's the Wild West. Literally. And I won't stand for it anymore. I'm the sheriff, but.
Starting point is 01:24:03 We were at a regal IMAX. Fucking regal. And anytime someone made a point, this guy to the right of us would go, uh, every time. I, I, I, I, that's what I call audible exclamation. And I hate an audible exclaiming motherfucker. If you ought to be exclaim, I'll kill you.
Starting point is 01:24:26 There's, and the other, the other thing I fucking hate is there's some, there's people, I don't know, this is like a valley thing, but some, there, somebody, a joke will hit, you know? Yeah, yeah. Like in game night or something, it'll be like, how can that possibly be profitable for Frito? Yeah. Somebody behind me would be like, how could that be profitable? Repeating the bit? You're a bit repeater? Oh, my God.
Starting point is 01:24:48 a fucking never mind. So the movie though. Dune 2 is unbelievable. It's unbelievable. It is the generational classic. The score is incredible. The score is fucking every, every, it, it hit like.
Starting point is 01:25:06 Yeah. Like I scored it myself. You know, it felt like exactly what I wanted to happen musically. Every time. Yeah. The kiss felt, I'm going into spoiler here. Yeah. It is technically unbeatable.
Starting point is 01:25:24 I was locked in within the first 30 seconds. 100%. Dude, the first hour and a half is like the feel good movie of a lifetime. Yeah. Yeah. It's Javier Bardem. Dude. You fucking kidding me?
Starting point is 01:25:36 He's unbelievable. He stole the show. He stole the show. He's one of the most tragic characters. Yeah, 100%. You feel for everything going on, but you also like, every time he speaks. spoke, I was in stitches.
Starting point is 01:25:51 Yeah. I was dying. He's unbelievable. He's so fucking related. Somebody said, I got chopped by Brody and Denton. Here it is. I have you permission to do it?
Starting point is 01:26:05 Oh, yes. Yeah, that's never good. You shouldn't do that. Why do you want that? I don't want that. I've been chopped by them a dozen times. You don't want that. Ask for a back chop next time.
Starting point is 01:26:25 Somebody get chopped in the back, please. It's so much work. one time kale was like dude would you chop me and Nate was like yeah and Kayle was like dude in like the back though not knowing that that's way worse it's crazy that it's that much worse it's yeah right because the chest is just like oh that stings back is like where you're breathing from dude that's the Christopher Lee death of Saramon thing exactly where you just you don't make he's like no no no that's not how stabbing works, Pete.
Starting point is 01:27:01 Give me the knife. I'll show you. Peter, I will show you. Oh, that's not how that works, you stupid bastard. What a fucking, you know, he made a power metal record? Yeah, I do. He's just talking over riffs, and it sucks, ass, but it's still cool that it exists.
Starting point is 01:27:17 But it's still just dope. Yeah. It's like blind guardian with a guy, just like, an old guy being like, and another thing about that. There was a storm. Any pants ripage in Texas. No.
Starting point is 01:27:32 Thankfully. What'd you play in? So day one, I wore those Arcteric pants. Day two, I was too skinny for them. You just like... I shrank so fast after one hour and change of physical activity and malnourishment that they didn't fit anymore. So I wore, they used day two, these like real tree ones. And didn't rip because they're very loose, which is nice.
Starting point is 01:27:59 I wore every pair of pants I had, nothing ripped. I got lucky, I think, though. I tested the limits. I won't do it again. You pushed it to the limit for sure. Biggest laugh of the tour, I would say at one point during, in the hotel room, we got the Pee-P-Haw. It's pretty good before bed one night. Love those.
Starting point is 01:28:18 We're playing a lot of movie grid. You familiar? It sounds familiar, but I don't think so. Moviegrid.io. It gives you a grid of nine things. And, like, it'll be a grid of, like, Charlie's Theron and Christian Bay. And you have to put together what they're in and you fill the grid. So that was something we were kind of all, me, Alec and Mac were doing together every day.
Starting point is 01:28:39 Fun. To this day. It's movie grid. Unbelievable. Get on there. Favorite show out of the four was Denton. And will we see twitching hats for sale online? Probably after LDB, maybe.
Starting point is 01:28:52 How stoked for those drain dates are you? Big time. How many of them are you on? I think five. Five? Okay. And there's multiple days off. So, like, I'm going to be, I'm going to be on my A game every show.
Starting point is 01:29:07 Yeah. I think I might not be here for the Chicago shows. Really? I think we're on tour. But aren't you, you're playing tied down? It's late May, right? Yeah, yeah. But we get back, like, the 30th or something.
Starting point is 01:29:25 Oh, well, we play the 30th, I think. Oh, okay. Okay, then we're good. That's the date of the show. You don't have to come. It's fine. Yeah, it's fine. Would you rather end world hunger or have a real life lightsaber?
Starting point is 01:29:38 Oh, man. I mean, end world hunger is, is, that's not a hard decision. I'm not going to say, like, I wouldn't selfishly be like, I do wish I had a lightsaber. But I'd do whatever to end world hunger, realistically. If you ended world hunger, you would get enough money. Yeah, I could do it. To, like, do it.
Starting point is 01:29:55 Like, people would just be so thankful. I think if I, if it was like, yo, that dude ended world hunger, I think Disney would be like, let's get him a lightsaber. He gave that up for this. And also, I don't need the weapon that kills people, you know? Right. I just need one that functions as, that looks like one. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:30:10 Just to put right there with the other ones. Another thing about Dune, I hope you don't mind me exposing you like this, but I mean it in a positive way. Colin said to me, and I know this, he is a Star Wars like lifer. I know more about Star Wars than 99% of people probably. Mm-hmm. You know, and even you said Dune 2 was the best and that this is the building of the best. Yeah, I think, I think, and you know, this might be blasphemous.
Starting point is 01:30:41 I think Dune did more in two movies than Star Wars did in nine. And that's just talking movies because there's a lot between Star Wars movies that makes it so great. Yes. And I would say the best of Star Wars happens in between movies and elsewhere. but Dune, in terms of like sheer universe and exposition building, truly like in a league of its own, sci-fi-wise. So cool. Favorite Texas bands, favorite bands from Texas right now.
Starting point is 01:31:12 Band called True Grit, rocked my ass. That's such a cool name. In Denton, like, singer, cowboy hat and everything. Fuck, yeah. Yeah, they rocked. I love that. Ozone, big respect for ozone as well. Ozone.
Starting point is 01:31:25 Didn't mention ozone yet. We played with them years ago when God's Hate first went to Texas Got to play with them again this time And it seems like they're the Dallas band right now Yeah, right Fort Worth I think, sorry guys The people's champs
Starting point is 01:31:42 Which is 817 Oh really? How about that? So one digit off Yeah, ozone rips, check them out I think Triple B is putting them their stuff out So that's going to be great They had an incredible set in the inside room in Denton
Starting point is 01:31:59 that was straight up insane. I heard Texas locals saying it was like one of the greatest Texas hardcore sets. Oh shit. It was nuts. How fun. Yeah, what was the go-to time passer in Texas? Pokemon Shuffle. Gotta get into Bellatro.
Starting point is 01:32:13 Got to get into Bellatro. Yeah, I will. I will. Were you prepared to do double front flips at the Denton show? You're an athlete for sure. Thank you. I appreciate that. I'm definitely not.
Starting point is 01:32:22 And no, I wasn't. I hurt myself big time. This is an interesting question. Top five Century Media releases. Oh, holy shit. Master Killer. Master Killer, for sure. Which?
Starting point is 01:32:35 Monotheist. Are there any madball records on Century Media? Those are Road Owner. Pro-emortle form. That was Century Media? Holy shit. I would say Unleashed
Starting point is 01:32:50 where no life dwells and behemoth demigod. Oh shit. Dude. I fucking love that record. That's a bang. That's a great record.
Starting point is 01:33:01 That's a pretty unbelievable, extensive catalog. They did it, you know? Yeah. Still doing it to this day. They're still crushing. All right, what other questions we got? Have you slept yet like you wouldn't believe? My God.
Starting point is 01:33:21 What'd you do when you got home? Like, what time of day did you get home? I got home. It took me three hours to drive home when I landed. after all that, which was awesome. I slept, I played Fortnite, the first night. Next night I shot a doneable commercial with two minutes of late night.
Starting point is 01:33:40 I really didn't want to, but I had a great time. Could barely talk. And then I slept for a few days. I hate L-EX so much, dude. You know, and Burbank would just be such a dream if it flew everywhere, but it simply doesn't. It's a real shame. is non-alcoholic beer straightage.
Starting point is 01:34:01 Who gives you shit? I just think it's fucking corny. You know, unless you are a former addict using it as a weapon to better yourself, I totally understand that. I also think like,
Starting point is 01:34:14 like I fully agree with what you just said, but I also like, who fucking cares? I just, who is like, dude, beer tastes so good. This beer's delicious.
Starting point is 01:34:25 I love a good macktail, though. I'll tell you what. Yeah, I see, I don't even care You know That's just juice Fancy drink No, because now they do all the N.A. spirits and shit
Starting point is 01:34:35 And now you actually can get like a mocktail. I've got got Diet Coke. Do you support cowboy boots in the pit? Absolutely. But you got to be a cowboy. You got to be a cowboy. I'm a dedicated boot mosher. And I think that I would have a hard time with that, you know.
Starting point is 01:34:53 They seem slippy. They're very slippy. Cowboy boots with spurs. I wouldn't do that. I remember getting my first pair of cowboy boots. I was in kindergarten. My grandmother brought them to my kindergarten class, like in the middle of class,
Starting point is 01:35:08 and like just was waiting by the door, and in the middle of class I got up and ran to my grandmother, put on my cowboy boots and went back to class. What was the reception from the class? Are you kidding me? I couldn't care. Did you have a good time in elementary school? I had a great time in school, period.
Starting point is 01:35:25 Okay. Oh, really? I was like, I was a charming little shit. So like I got through all my classes. I didn't do any homework. My friend group got along with every other friend group. Oh, you didn't do homework? I never did homework.
Starting point is 01:35:37 I'm not even exaggerating the last two years of high school. I did not do class work outside of school. No, same. And I, but mine is due to several undiagnosed learning disabilities that my mother did not want to accept or medicate. Still dealing with that. I'll figure it out someday. Yeah, school is really tough. I never had a good time.
Starting point is 01:36:05 Yeah. I feel fortunate to have had a pretty easy time. It was the darkest years of life. Wow. Yeah. That's a bummer. Why did you not play good luck, God damn it? We don't play that one no more.
Starting point is 01:36:19 Emotional reasons. What would it take for you to agree to play eight sets and four days again? Can't say I ever would. money. Will you please play a level of Sniberatide down? Probably not. Denton versus San Antonio versus Austin versus Houston Pit Warriors in one giant pit who's dying first
Starting point is 01:36:36 and who's coming out on top? Why is it the Poo Boo Flyer chance? He's a good guy. Denton San Antonio versus the Austin Mosher's were from San Antonio. So that's Austin and Houston are kind of
Starting point is 01:36:52 out first. It would be Denton versus San Antonio. Which I think they'd have more in common and they'd they'd there'd be a stalemate yeah uh favorite show you've both ever played in san antonia mine was life and death 2017 i think mine was the post-human headliner there that was when quite like uh wayne's world i just always wanted open a room where guys are training like a bond film and you did that there was a stage that had the door behind the drums and that's how we exited and not entered and I literally
Starting point is 01:37:28 like people we were done people were still yelling I opened it up and we all were standing there looking people were like yeah like demanding another song to the point where I think Anthony or Jeremy from Vane had to go and get James from the merch table to come back and we played scrambled
Starting point is 01:37:44 Yeah that was not the case How in the living fuck did you survive Vocal and drumming set back to back for four nights barely Oh man Is soup a sandwich? No. No, soup is not.
Starting point is 01:38:02 Not at all. Is cereal a soup? No. Soup? Is soup? I don't think soup can be cold. There is a cold soup. What's it called?
Starting point is 01:38:13 Gaspacho. Gospacho, that's right. But that's just, that's just gazpacho. That's not soup. Is cereal gisbacho? Yes. Yeah, that's about it. That was fun.
Starting point is 01:38:29 That was a fun, roughly hour and a half, you know? Yeah. We hope you enjoyed it. We got lots of stuff coming up. We do, man. LDB's this weekend. So we hope that you're listening to this on your way. We hope that you enjoyed the pre-show.
Starting point is 01:38:45 I think it's today. It's today of the day airing this. Also, if you're listening to this on Thursday, tomorrow, the Harmsway Audio Tree comes out, which we filmed in November. So it's been quite a while. But we do two songs, one with Chris from Kingwoman. She is the King woman. And really excited for that.
Starting point is 01:39:09 It's really cool. It's incidentally filmed in a mausoleum that is featured in the movie U.S. Marshals. Right. Pretty badass. Pretty cool. Check that out. We'll all see you this weekend at LDB. Next week's episode will probably be about that.
Starting point is 01:39:29 Yeah. Looking forward to that. Those are always fun. The fest. So if you see us walking around, say what's up? We'll try to do man on the street if it's not balls cold outside as it was last year. I forgot about that. Dress warm, Beau.
Starting point is 01:39:43 Yeah. I will too. Yeah. I'll bring my gloves. It's going to be fucked up. All right. Thank you all so much. This has been Harlow.
Starting point is 01:39:50 We will see you next week. Cola boy. Rest and peace. Love you all. See you next week. Bye. Bye.
