Starting point is 00:00:00 Subscribe to the all-new hardlore Patreon now for early ad-free access to every episode and an exclusive episode every month. Driving through Louisiana on our way to Houston, we see lights in the sky. I saw a flash in a distance. There's a thing called heat lightning. It was very humid. No, no, no, no. Tell me about the alien. In my brain, I'm literally like, as probably heat lighting.
Starting point is 00:00:26 And there was two more in the same spot. And we were kind of coming to a hill. So I was like, well, whatever it is, like, whatever it is. Like whatever this factory is, this cement refinery or something, we're going to see it over this hill. So blah, blah, never saw it. Never saw the source of what that could have been. Hello, welcome. It's Hardlord time.
Starting point is 00:01:05 How are you Bowen? I'm doing well. I broke my toe yesterday. Broke toe? Yeah, dropped a plant. I was moving a caddy in the shower and I have a little shower plant that lives in there. Fell off. Destroyed my toe.
Starting point is 00:01:20 No, fully broke it. Like it's broken. Oh, yeah. Yeah, I can't bend it. Oh, dude. Throbbing right now. No good, man. No good.
Starting point is 00:01:27 Did you go straight to the ER or did you sleep on it? Like a real man. I don't have insurance. I don't have a choice. I'm not going to no ER. Is it purple? Oh, it's so purple, dude. Isn't that awesome to just wake up and be like, or go to sleep and be like, maybe.
Starting point is 00:01:42 Yeah. Maybe I'll wake up and this was all just, it was nothing. And then when I broke my hand, I woke up and my hand was a baseball glove. And you just can't do anything. You can't do. Well, no, it's completely purple. It's bruised everywhere. Every finger, everything. I got purple. I guess I'll go check this out. I got purple into the nail. Like it's the whole guy. Sickening. Sickening. Terrible. Terrible what happened to bone. That's why we don't trust plants and veganism. It's my comeuppance for the Zabluter film. Exactly. That's what you get. God said
Starting point is 00:02:22 you hurt your friend, I hurt you. Anyway, we are here today to talk about two incredible tours that we just did. We figured out it was like the first time we've both been on the road at the same time in, I don't even know. Well, since the inception of the show, at least, you know? Yeah. Went dead by. Yeah, right, since the inception of the show. Since the inception of hard lore, we have not both been on tour at the same time.
Starting point is 00:02:47 It's been Bo being on tour and me having to do a little bit of extra work because Bo is on tour. And now this time, I had to do a little bit of extra work a week before because Bo went on tour a week earlier. But now we were both on tour at the same time with doing tours headlined by two of the great modern hardcore flagship bands. It's objective to say. Whereas I was on Drain's Good Good Tour with Drain, Terror, Angel Dust, Scowl, Mindful. mind force end it haywire mad and cosmic joke tour of the summer truly tour of this tour of the century or whatever it is yeah and beau it was uh kubikon us um a pain of truth a man called justice for the dam from australia and then for the last four days lionheart from california jumped on
Starting point is 00:03:42 gotcha are they from california yep crazy two incredible tours yes two incredible lineups Just We got so much to get into here Because we like to check in And kind of be like Here's what we're seeing Here's yeah These are field reports
Starting point is 00:04:03 Mine mine is 99.9% positive here Yeah 100% What is happening out there right now Is unbelievable Yeah I don't know if people realize Especially if you're younger If you're a younger viewer of Hardlore
Starting point is 00:04:19 Man when Colin and I were in our like late teens, early 20s, these tours would be to, if there was a hundred people, bands would be like, fuck. Even the 10 for 10. Yeah. Was, where it was in venues far smaller than the Chicago Metro, you know?
Starting point is 00:04:38 Glass House is 700, and that felt like the biggest show I'd ever been to. Right. So it's... So something's going on. Even smaller DIY shows, like not even small, but like what Equinox is doing in South, Florida. They're building this incredible thing where hundreds of people are coming to see bands
Starting point is 00:04:55 that they've potentially never heard. It's amazing. That's, dude, it's the dream. It is, it is, we've, it's all been building towards what is happening right now. Yeah. You know, you've got turnstile, knock loose, Kubla Khan drain, flying this flag around the world making, I'm not going to say mainstream, but it's like, the underground is the people are so desperate to be part of it, right? Yes. It's a I know somewhere there are people I beefed in high school probably maybe watching this now being like,
Starting point is 00:05:28 fucking this guy, this fucking guy. This is the guy I got to hear from, you know? Sure. So sorry to that guy. But yeah, it's me and it's Beau. Yeah, it's interesting. There was a phrase a few years ago, maybe 10 years ago. It was like, yeah, guitar music's
Starting point is 00:05:44 dead, man, because it was. Yeah. And boy, it sure ain't anymore. in many facets too. And I've said this on the show before, but like, dude, Olivia Rodriguez as an emerging pop star, it's straight up guitar music. It's one, she is one degree away from Fugazi. She's at Avril and Wieser right now.
Starting point is 00:06:10 Fugazi's next. Interesting. And I think millions of young women are going to play guitar because of her. Which is the best. Which is not what's happening. in pop music at all. Right. So, you know, the fact that, like,
Starting point is 00:06:23 rock music and metal music are inherently going to be made because of people like Olivia Rodriguez and definitely because of bands, like all the ones we mentioned earlier. Let's get into this, man. Yeah, you... I only did five shows, so...
Starting point is 00:06:39 Yeah, I was gone first. Mm-hmm. So we'll start with that. Our first thing was driving from Chicago to Daytona Beach, Florida, which is hilarious because Harmesway has done that one other time on our very first tour ever. Really? We drove from Chicago to Daytona Beach, Florida to play This Is for You Fest, which is where the picture was taken, very full circle, which is interesting.
Starting point is 00:07:06 We played Welcome to Rockville. It was in the Daytona 500, like, Speedway. So, like, when you're taking carts to merch world or to, catering or whatever, you're on the fucking track. Are they fast, the carts? You're going 12 miles per hour. They should get
Starting point is 00:07:24 proprietary fast car. You got a fast car. You know what's crazy is how steep the track is? You can't, like you couldn't on foot run to the wall, the outer wall of the track. It's almost straight
Starting point is 00:07:39 up. Is that so to prevent cars from? I believe it's for, Yeah, it's for traction and then also to make the outside and the inside the same distance. Because you know how in the Olympics, they all start staggered. Yeah. That's more surface area. So therefore it's, you know, blah, blah, blah.
Starting point is 00:07:58 But was this your first Danny Wimmer Presents Festival? I think so, actually. How was it? I'm very curious how things like, because I've, I've been to a couple. Mm-hmm. And the crowds are pretty good for every band. Mm-hmm. But something like merch kind of has to be a tough sell at that when it's like there's people going there for Slipknot Iron Maiden and Judas Priest and not much else.
Starting point is 00:08:25 Yeah. So everything but merch I would say was fantastic. Okay. Like I even have here like great stage crew. Like everyone on stage was like, I love you guys, man. Oh, that's awesome. Just like fully like whatever you need. You know, they were amazing, very being treated professionally when you're just kind of like a.
Starting point is 00:08:44 a band that comes from where we come from is, like, is very validating. And that's the way it should be. Everybody should be treated professionally, especially at a thing like that. Sure. But like you've been a band for 19 years or something. Yeah. And you're just now playing these stages where that's supposed to be the norm in music. But we're used to just doing everything ourselves.
Starting point is 00:09:06 Yeah. Like Jerry only. Yeah. Yes. So my only thing about merch is like it's venue cell. So like they don't fucking care. You know, and I don't blame them. I get it.
Starting point is 00:09:20 I don't know how money works. I know other fests, you know, and other things when there's venue sale, there's incentives kind of built in to push merch, whatever. They don't fucking care. So it wasn't like, yeah, it wasn't great.
Starting point is 00:09:31 But the thing about these fests is generally you're going to get a decent amount from the door and then it kind of takes care of itself. What do I have here? Oh, we shared a trailer with Mushroomhead. It was interesting. How was that? Did you talk ICB or what?
Starting point is 00:09:45 We didn't meet to a single, we didn't speak to a single one of them. Could you have? Probably could have, but it was like, right when it was like, okay, let's eat and let's start to get out of here. They had, they were playing. So it was just like we just kind of, dude, I would have been waiting. I would have been sitting there wait. You know, it's hilarious was going back to the trailer after, I think they must have been
Starting point is 00:10:04 done because we were about to leave and it smelled like a Halloween store because of all the masks. I was like, ah, they're ready. They're ready to play. You know? So that was pretty funny. To the listeners who don't know, one of the singers of Mushroomhead is the singer of Cleveland hardcore band in Cold Blood.
Starting point is 00:10:22 Mushroomhead has straight up hard ass pits recorded at Mars. Yeah, right. And also. And also members, like it's kind of a slip-knut thing where people will kind of swap out and they're all wearing masks and doing different shit. There are people who would play in Mushroom Head. who were all like Clevo. Cleveland hardcore guys.
Starting point is 00:10:44 Yeah. The catering was incredible. Like one of the craziest, one of the craziest spreads I've ever seen, a charcutory table, an entire table. Saw Ronnie Radkeke and Soraya. They were back there eating. It was pretty wild. Did he have an escort, like a bodyguards? No bodyguards, I don't think, but a definite entourage.
Starting point is 00:11:09 And it was us and gay creepers. sitting at like the next table just kind of like, huh, you know. There he is. Pretty wild. Mr. Bungle played. SoulFlyde also played. Oh. Mr. Bungle covered territory.
Starting point is 00:11:25 Max sang it. Oh. But we fucking missed it. Oh, dude. It happened. That's incredible. How, like, we're close, man. Didn't Mr. Bungle like close?
Starting point is 00:11:38 Didn't they like headline? They played really late. I don't think they. headlined. Headlined a stage maybe? Yeah, but what's cool is like they played Riot Fest last year. They played territory. So that's just like, we got territory in the bag. Max is here.
Starting point is 00:11:52 Let's fucking do it. That's so cool. We're getting close, baby. It's damn, that rocks. And I got sunburned. Yeah. And that was pretty much, that was my day in Daytona. The plate of the Irish in Florida. But see, what's sick is then the Italian takes over. I only get one burn. I'm done.
Starting point is 00:12:08 Good. And then you're tan? And then I'm bronze the rest of the year. Man, that's awesome. I only have, like, one tan part of my whole body, and it's the sleeveless part. And your face. It's hilarious. And my face is barely tan, but if you look at this, it, compared to, like, my mid back, hysterical. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:27 So, yeah. So we did the typical harm's way thing. We drive at night, drive a couple hours, get to wherever we're going to sleep. That's usually a couple hours from the next show and then just kind of rinse repeat. And you're, are you the night? driving guy? Yeah, big time. Yeah. Big time. James. Because those are your, that's your, those are your work hours.
Starting point is 00:12:47 That's what I'm thinking. That's what I'm cooking, you know. 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Yeah. Lord knows what's going on up there, but I'm doing stuff. Yeah, James does all the daytime stuff. Because, dude, when it's 10 a.m., when the sun is out and we got three hours, I'm out like a light. I just can't. My body just shuts off. It's crazy. That's good. That's a good problem to have. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:10 be able to just be like, I need to sleep in this van right now? Yeah. Yeah. Not everybody can do that. No. You know what I did for the first time? What'd you do? A lot of touring people are going to be shocked and appalled.
Starting point is 00:13:21 Pee in a bottle in the van. For the first time? Yeah, I can't. I need a big hole. Not for, I'm not common saying. I'm saying for spillage. Bravado. No, no, no, no.
Starting point is 00:13:33 No bravado. I just need the whole thing to be in there, you know? Yeah, yeah, yeah. For spillage purposes. I get it. I pee a lot. lot. Yeah. Yeah. So like a 16.9 ounce bottle, I'm going through two, three of those in one piss. Hurry, hurry, hurry, hurry, hurry. That's me. Yeah, yeah. So I'll have to get, I got a gallon jug.
Starting point is 00:13:51 Dude, fuck yeah. Rammed it in there. Yeah. Just and filled it up. And it was fun. Oh, it's great. It, I do it all the time. I do it in venues when the bathroom's too far. Oh, well, I mean, that's my signature move. There have been venues mad at me for, dude. I do it. I do it. I do it in venues, mad at me for doing that. Yeah, for sure. In the van, a moving object where I can make eye contact with another car next to me, it's tough. Yeah, it's tough. It's tough for me.
Starting point is 00:14:19 I'm more of a stall guy than a urinal guy. Interesting. I'm not a big urinal guy. Oh, and I should say, so this was the first set of the whole tour, and it was just kind of like couldn't really sound check, a little weird, a lot of people. So it wasn't like the best feeling. Crazy place to do
Starting point is 00:14:35 that. Yeah. The next show was Charlotte. felt great. Everything was like we've, like it was like an immediate like, oh there we go. Like the gear change. And that's the tour starting. Yeah, that's the tour starting. The only, I don't think, yeah, Painter Truth didn't play the festival, but Kubla Khan did.
Starting point is 00:14:51 So we got to like catch up with them and see them and everything. Nice. Um, something I want to say right off the rip. That's incredible to me. Kubla Khan might be the most DIY, hardest working band that I know of. When we first met them, they were doing Warped Tour in a van. There was four of them. which we talked about with Matt and Nolan.
Starting point is 00:15:12 Now there's five of them. The extra guy will drive and does photographs. Like he's the photographer, Matt. And do they still do their own merch? They do their own merch. No sound guy. They do their own T-Ming. They do everything.
Starting point is 00:15:28 Eric does the merch. Yeah, it's they are so good at being simple. Yeah. in the least derogatory way imaginable. Like, it's amazing. It's inspiring to be like, wait, you guys can do, you can fill this room and you're just...
Starting point is 00:15:47 I mean, it is inspiring because you look at like Knocked Luce's crew and how much each individual member of that crew is doing and contributing to like the show. Yeah, yeah. Like the venues they're playing are not far off from each other. Yeah, but I will say, you know, Kubikon doesn't do quite as much like, production stuff. There's not like a stage. That's what I'm saying. Knockleu's has a
Starting point is 00:16:10 Broadway show going on what they put. There's a cost to that. Right. There's yeah, exactly. It requires the manpower. But the fact that Kubukon has kind of like balanced out being what people expect from them. Yep. By just bringing a photographer with them is fucking crazy. It's really awesome. And I think that was the first time they had brought anyone was on like the tsunami leg like just for pictures. Just for pictures. Just for. Just for. And for media. For media. Some driving.
Starting point is 00:16:40 And he would help, he would like grab merch stuff for everything. Really sick guy. If you saw anything that Harm's boy was posting from that whole tour, anything on our individuals, that was all him. He's king. But so, yeah. So they were amazing. Got to reconnect with them a bit. Nolan is no.
Starting point is 00:17:00 I shouldn't, Nolan wasn't playing with them. So they have this Australian guy who plays guitar and justice for the dance. who opened the package filling in. He was just a top, top mate. Top mate? Wonderful. Good cut. The whole fucking vibe was awesome of like every band.
Starting point is 00:17:21 Pain and Truth, obviously, like, instant connection. The best, yeah. So everything was great. Charlotte felt really good. Got a workout. The only funny thing I can remember was there was a prom. Like, it was prom weekend. And next to the venue was like a huge prom venue.
Starting point is 00:17:37 Damn. So there's like southern teens. Yeah. Like, were they coming in and their ball gowns hitting the motherfucking monkey see monkey do or what? Yeah. Zero overlap,
Starting point is 00:17:51 I would say. The Venn diagram was two separate circles entirely. But that was like, you think that. But I, there's people at that problem who have seen these TikToks. Oh, for sure. For sure.
Starting point is 00:18:02 Dude, that's another thing too. That's funny that you bring up is like, I, I don't want it. I don't want it to sound. dismissive to be like TikTok this or anything like that because who the fuck cares. But there are people like people knew every fucking word to every Kubla console.
Starting point is 00:18:18 Who are we to judge the gateway into this world? Exactly. The only thing I'll judge is how old you are when you find this world. Yeah. And how you behave. At some point in your life, it's not for you. It's for the kids. But if you're young and you're finding this on TikTok and this is the beginning of your journey,
Starting point is 00:18:35 so welcome. Hello, welcome. Is scrolling TikTok and finding music any different than getting a ride with your friend's older brother and him putting on a CD? Yes, only because of how bad most music on TikTok is. Sure. Whereas, like, that CD is going to be lit as fuck. I heard a lot. I heard a lot of fucking like Dave Matthews and shit back in the night.
Starting point is 00:18:58 Bangers after bangor with Dave Matthews. What are you saying? A couple tracks, but I'm saying as a young man, it wouldn't have gotten me. No, sure. There were some specific ones that got me here. But in my, in my professional TikTok experience, when I, when there's like a trending song, Oh, it's terrible, dude. It's never good.
Starting point is 00:19:15 Yeah, it's terrible. Very true. After that, how do you want to do this, Colin? I don't want to, should I just go down the, the days? Just, you know, big event. Hit me with the big events. Yeah. So then we play.
Starting point is 00:19:26 I only had five shows. So it's easy to just be like, here's what happened. I got you. So then we went to New Orleans, played Nola. In Orleans, you hit the motherfucking cafe do. Did not. went to a place called Peshis had some of the best seafood I've ever had. Had a full band meal.
Starting point is 00:19:45 No relation. Weird C. Weird letter. Weird character over the sea. I don't know. I don't even know if it's Pes, to be honest. Had a nice band meal,
Starting point is 00:19:54 you know, where everyone was just like, yeah, let's eat. Beautiful. Yeah, I got you. Really nice.
Starting point is 00:20:01 Craving a $350 meal. Yeah, well, that before dessert, sure. And then just great show. Played a great show in New Orleans. Fucking packed out.
Starting point is 00:20:13 First in history. Yeah, right? Like just really... That crowbar wasn't on. Yeah, right. It was really awesome. Had a lot of fun. It was rainy and humid in New Orleans, though.
Starting point is 00:20:23 I forgot. Any tornado warnings while you're out? Yeah, quite a few. We had a crazy one in Baltimore. In Baltimore. Which I guess is like never had a tornado. Right. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:34 And like, it happened. And was there a touch time? It was the second drain started. The show was supposed to be outside, which was crazy. And they moved everybody inside the second drain started, which was like amazing. Yeah, this was packed. Pretty clever. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:51 Was it at the soundstage? Yeah, it was so they left it set up from Maryland Death Fest, which was the day before. Smart. So it was supposed to be outside on like the big Maryland Death Fest stage. And because of the tornado, it had to get moved inside, but they oversold it. so they just packed it. Amazing. It was right at the number.
Starting point is 00:21:12 We, growing up, we get tornado warnings and shit all the time. I don't believe there's ever been a recorded tornado in the city of Chicago. What would happen? I don't know. There's videos like of coastal cities like Florida,
Starting point is 00:21:26 I think where like a water spout is going straight out of building and then it just kind of dissipates as it hits the building. I don't, I mean, obviously. So is Twister bullshit or what? Well. No, there's definitely homes and cows and shit To get wrecked by Twisters Completely wrecked,
Starting point is 00:21:40 but I'm wondering if there's like a An area We should call James and ask him right now Because he was a meteorologist major for a while I don't know if you know that The most bullshit degree I think it's gonna be a sound of 75 today Dude, he explained wind
Starting point is 00:21:57 Thanks to these meteors Do you know what wind is? Could you explain wind to someone? You know that that's like one of the first bits ever on the show is you asking me to explain when. Really? And I said, it's your stupid ass. Farging.
Starting point is 00:22:11 I remember now. Anyway, then we had a day off. You'll like this one. I love it, though. So this is the first time we spent a lot of time in like the south, south, like deep south. We kind of crisscrossed through Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Little Rock, and like all kind of back and forth, all in that area. And I really liked it.
Starting point is 00:22:34 I think we went to... The Deep South? Yeah, dude. We went to Buckees like every day. Oh, man. I really... I love Mr. Bucky. The Deep South, the college towns are amazing.
Starting point is 00:22:46 When we were in Birmingham for Furnes of Us, I had a great time. Oh, I loved it. I had a great time. Any town with a university in it is going to, like, not be as weirdly freak- freakish, breakish conservative, you know? Yeah. Yeah, of course. It's like the...
Starting point is 00:23:02 When we were in... I think it was Charlotte. Our Uber drivers said that the governor said, Charlotte is the blueberry in the tomato soup of the South. Whatever that means. Why? Something derogatory. I'm just realizing, too, that I didn't, I don't,
Starting point is 00:23:25 we played Baltimore and I don't even have it on my little list here, but, or not Baltimore, Birmingham. Birmingham. But anyway, so yeah, we had a day off, hit a workout. We were like, all right, let's do a nice, like, Texas Roadhouse kind of steak day. We always try to break up a big drive like that, you know? Every place we went to was fucking closed. Was it Sunday?
Starting point is 00:23:46 No, it was just, it was probably a Monday or a Tuesday. You know, a lot of times these tours skipped those days. We were walking up to a steakhouse somewhere in near Little Rock and or Shreveport or something. And the lady was like, oh, we closed like 45 minutes earlier. We were so slow. And you got, you got 600 bucks walking in. You know what I mean? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:07 You've got money. It's just like, all right. Well, I guess. So we went to a casino. Possibly the casino you didn't do too well at for banging in the rock. Bangin the Rock. Oh. Wait, or Tulsa.
Starting point is 00:24:21 Tulsa. Sorry. I was thinking banging in the rock, the Little Rock. Tulsa is one of the worst of all time. Okay. So it wasn't that one. But this was the one I texted you. I sat down at the,
Starting point is 00:24:30 the coin slot game. whereas like fortune green blue you know with the coins yeah hit hit a bonus immediately won 450 amazing first spent good for fuck out of there yeah I did those are curt those are tight those are tight in Tulsa
Starting point is 00:24:46 I watched James I lost my ass I watched James Dominion in blackjack Dominie doing great it was to the point where we were like tired trying to leave he was like all right I'll do one more hand he did like pretty big hand and he just kept winning you can't leave. Yeah, you can't leave on me.
Starting point is 00:25:04 You got to take one for the team. Yeah, so then Little Rock was the next day. There was a sound guy who was kind of John C. Riley-esque, but just talking to himself the entire time. iPad? No iPad. But it was literally like, sorry, folks, I'm coming. You know, like he was like literally John C. Riley. Thanks.
Starting point is 00:25:23 And to the point where we were talking to, you know, I would never want to cost anyone their job ever. I was talking to another venue member who was like, yeah, they've been trying to fire him for years, but they just like can't. Was he good at it? No. Okay. So every band sounded bad. It wasn't even a, nobody, I don't think sounded particularly bad, but it was just like, hey, this isn't plugged in. Oh.
Starting point is 00:25:48 Yeah. It's such a shame that our entire lives depend on them, you know? Luckily, we had John, who was doing sound for drain and terror, who also did it for us. us. John John Edwards. Shout out to John. Unbelievable. Sounded so good every single night. His attitude.
Starting point is 00:26:12 His body. Incredible. Sorry, John, for objectifying you. But it is Pride Month. And you're gorgeous. I did such a great job. The reason I missed, I'm sorry about that. The reason I missed Birmingham was because it was the second,
Starting point is 00:26:29 it was right after, But the reason I bring it up is because gave Cookout a real good try. I'm all in. Yes, dude. Dude. I'm telling you. All in. I'm telling you.
Starting point is 00:26:41 If you have a bad experience at Cookout, you did something wrong. I love the fact that if you get a drink, there's one fucking size. And it's huge. And it's fucking huge. Massive. It's all Coke products. Do you get a shake? I did.
Starting point is 00:26:55 Banana pudding. See, you can do anything. You can do anything. And it was fantastic. Um, corn dog was good. Under rings were good. I got the double cheeseburger with pickles, onions, and ketchup. It tastes like mom grilled it out back.
Starting point is 00:27:09 Dude, so that's what we literally said the whole time is it tastes like you're at a cookout, just in someone's backyard. Fantastic. It's fucking amazing, man. All in on cookout. Yeah. Really. Easy. Really good.
Starting point is 00:27:24 I wish we had them up here. I'd go. Me too. I would go all the time. And it's expensive. There's 18 different meal combos you can have. You can do anything. If you get a tray, you can get a shirt for five bucks.
Starting point is 00:27:37 What will they think of that? I wish they were up here. I'd go a lot. Then we went to San Luis. Went to a place called Pappy's Barbecue. That's the famous one, right? It boasted to have the best ribs in the country. What did you think?
Starting point is 00:27:53 I think they're liars. It was good. Did you get brisket? Of course. How was it? the brisket. Very strange brisket. Shaved, thin, thin, thin, thin, not sliced. Like, Korean sliced. Yeah, yeah, exactly, like thin fucking brisket. I mean, I like that when it's Korean. Sure, yeah, I know what you mean. It was, it was. But if I'm, if I'm expecting American
Starting point is 00:28:17 Southern brisket and I get that, I'd be confused. I would say the chopped or sliced brisket sandwich from Buckees. Oh my God, the fucking chopped brisket. I ate one five days in a row. They're so good. It's six bucks. It's good. And it's fresh because they're constantly going,
Starting point is 00:28:36 fresh brisket on the boy. They're constantly cooking that shit. St. Louis was incredible. Was that a place called Red Flag? Fucking amazing. Like, 1,200 people just packed out. Right in the food bar area, I swear to God, there's no other area in St.
Starting point is 00:28:53 No, that's, that is St. Louis. That is St. Louis. That is that whole strip. True. Then we did something kind of cool. So there was like a bit of a mishap with Sonic Temple, which was outside of Columbus in Ohio. Oh, yeah. Was this also a Danny Wimmer?
Starting point is 00:29:09 I think so. But basically it was like a telephone game where it wasn't realized that we were on the same tour with Kubla Khan. So if we were going to play the Saturday of the fest that we were supposed to. posted, we would miss Baltimore. And we were like, well, we're not going to do that because Baltimore's been really good. Baltimore is unbelievable. And so we didn't do that. And we played an off show with, it was us, Pain of Truth, and a band called Violent Nature from Ohio. Incredible. Doors were at 11. We probably played at 1 o'clock in the morning. Wow. Little rough, but absolutely worth it. It was sold out. It was at Ace of Cups. It was fucking awesome. You know what band also played
Starting point is 00:29:51 Sonic Temple. Little hardcore band called Terror. You know what? You know what members from a little hardcore band came to our fucking show? I'm going to guess, Martin. Two members, one crew guy. Crew guy. Dan Sealy.
Starting point is 00:30:08 Chris Linkovich? You're a genius. Wow. They came, hung out. Obviously, you saw a bunch of friends and stuff and it was just rad. Amazing. It was a really good show. It felt awesome.
Starting point is 00:30:21 glad we did it. Violent nature is... Yeah, I mean, a proper hardcore show after a weekend of like corporate sponsored rock music, the ultimate palette cleanser, really. And Violent Nature rips, check them out. They're genuinely very good. And then, yeah, the next day was Baltimore.
Starting point is 00:30:40 And I'm so glad we didn't... The goat, dude. So glad we didn't miss it because it was fucking incredible. Baltimore was my favorite show of the Drain Tour. Possibly mine, too. this tour, no joke. There's no barricade. The stage height is unbelievable.
Starting point is 00:30:56 Yep. I'm fucking shredding beach balls left and right. Damn you people. This is... I'm feeling bad about it eventually. But Baltimore is on fire right now. It seems like they've taken to heart turnstile and Trappenter Ice's success, you know?
Starting point is 00:31:17 I've been like, oh shit, we're the place where these... These huge... Torch-bearing bands. or have come from, we should, we should take pride in that and, and keep it going. Yes. And you got end it who is like, they're showmen. Mm. They're hardcore showman.
Starting point is 00:31:34 They're doing it right. Baltimore's doing it right. And Soundstage is another venue with like an amazing crew. They help you load in. They're super like easy and every, every, from the fucking, the lady in charge whose name I, I sadly forget, to the person doing door. Just like, every. one was cool and like understood one. Amazing monitor guy there. Probably the best of my monitors
Starting point is 00:31:56 ever sounded. So awesome. Love Baltimore. Big fan. Aid at the Shakeshack around the corner. So did we. So did we. That's where we ate. Me, Nick and Chris went there. Chick-Shack feels like a nice break from fast food somehow. Somehow. It's accelerating. When you're in the midst of all that. Yeah. It's different. It's on a nice little strip too where there's like a Chick-fil-A, a halal guys. something else too like a jamba juice or something is right there yeah we walked to some far
Starting point is 00:32:25 some coffee place that dan said was one block away that was not one block away it was super far uh it was okay yeah i don't remember the name oh it's called yeah yeah yeah it was fine there's a uh fogo de chow right next door to that venue you know i want i've yet to go No one will go with me. I know. I'll go with you. I want to go so bad. We'll go here together next month.
Starting point is 00:32:52 I love Fogo. After that was Richmond at Canal Club upstairs. How was that? It was kind of crazy because the last time I'd been up there was United Blood. And like playing those felt like a big deal. Not that it wasn't. It just felt like, oh, this is like a big fest. You know, this is an important fest.
Starting point is 00:33:16 And one of my favorites at the time. And I haven't been back there since the last one, which I don't remember how many years it's been. Having played bigger rooms since then, it's interesting to go up there and be like, oh, it's not as big as I remember. I think that is the ultimate show of growth of hardcore. Truly. Yeah. That this four-band package now sold out the room of like the second biggest hardcore fest in the country.
Starting point is 00:33:45 Yeah. And that the second biggest heartcast in the country is like one of the smaller shows on the tour. Yeah. That's the good point. So we're in a good place. Keep it going. Yeah. It's,
Starting point is 00:33:55 Keep it going. It was awesome. We ate at a place nearby, a seafood place called Hard Shell Seafood. Good? Oh, yeah. Really fucking good. We ate really well on this tour. It was like Buckees cookout and then these like nice seafood places.
Starting point is 00:34:14 That was that was it. Let me ask something, Bo. Hit me. What did you listen to on this tour? What have you been listening to? I am still going through like a big kind of 60s hippie thing. So a lot of Crosby stills and Nash was listening to a lot of America. Some Neil Young.
Starting point is 00:34:34 Very little heavy. Interesting. Yeah. What about you? I'm back on Ringworm. Oh. Oh. I'm addicted to the ringworm.
Starting point is 00:34:45 I never got off, dude. The worm or... I need you all listening and watching to truly just like... I don't think we... Maybe this is our fault. Okay. You know? I know that we've shown ringworm respect and love,
Starting point is 00:34:59 but maybe not to the degree that they deserve. Okay. So I think if you're listening, if you're watching, you need to start from the top. Get the promise. Yeah. If you can find the demo, try the demo. The demo is amazing.
Starting point is 00:35:11 Even crazier. Frank, Three gun, aka Florida Frank, I do think has the greatest hardcore resume of all time. Integrity. Ringworm. Ringworm. Terror.
Starting point is 00:35:26 Haybreed. Did he play in Hundred Demons? I mean, like maybe. Like maybe? Maybe at some point. But that's like some people's Mount Rushmore bands. Right. One guy being all of them is crazy.
Starting point is 00:35:39 Right. So this is for Frank. We love ringworm. Blind of faith over this goat was my third tattoo. I was 19. Ringworm has been a very important band for me my whole life. I love. We love the worm on this show.
Starting point is 00:35:58 It must be said, it must be drilled into your heads at this point. Ringworm. Okay. Justice replaced by Revenge, 25th anniversary is next year. That record kind of changed. When it came out, I remember I was in college. It like changed kind of. what I thought
Starting point is 00:36:16 more metallic, hardcore, modern could be because it was all very like, just breakdowns. You know what I mean? But no, no, no, what I mean to say is... Ringworm is not that. It's not that. Like, Ringworm has interesting fucking parts. And then they go into an acoustic song
Starting point is 00:36:32 called Whiskey Drunk into Godi God and it's the heaviest... Right into the... Gun, gung, gung, gung, gung, gud, god, a gung, dude. Bad life. Yeah, you got to listen to Rewarm. quick, quit, just knock it off. Listen to ringworm.
Starting point is 00:36:46 Which record were you, like, were you just going all around? Yeah, I mean, I was, I was doing Bertha's Pain yesterday, and then I went back to the promise, and then I put Justice on. And even, like, Venomis Grand Design has some great tracks. In, I know it's Columbus and not Cleveland, but on, like, a common suffering headliner in Columbus, we played, um, did, do, do get, diga, tick, d' down. Is that Bertha's Pain?
Starting point is 00:37:13 Is that the title track? We introed with that. And then straight into a song. We went into another song, but yeah. That's hilarious. Because ringworm's the best and Ohio's sick. Yeah, do you fuck with Venomous Grand Design? Yeah, a couple tracks.
Starting point is 00:37:30 Yeah, a couple tracks. A couple of bangers. There's that one pit that's like, da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da. On the China, hard of shit. Great Ben. Yeah, they're an amazing band. Or was it? Baltimore, I think.
Starting point is 00:37:43 Yeah, get me to some big events. Okay. Give me some. Give me to the heat. I'm just trying to think, because I want to shout out some of the, like, we never played Charleston before. We played Charleston next. Piratown.
Starting point is 00:37:54 Coolest place I've ever seen. It's fucking amazing. Rocked? Dude, all of these were sold out from this point on. Walking around and it was literally like, where will I get a spot of coffee? Like, everything was pirate. Everything. Why?
Starting point is 00:38:09 Because it was a pirate town. Like straight up? Like straight up. There's cannons and shit. So Charles was... It's King Charles, but yeah. Oh, that fucking scumbugman. Yeah, he's a scumback.
Starting point is 00:38:19 The town square is in the ship. But the pirates took it from it. Well, they would raid it. Pirates don't like hold it, you know. They held it. The town square has a, like a park that's in the shape of a Confederate flag. Some crazy stuff going on. Yeah, of course.
Starting point is 00:38:34 Buddy. Met the homie Mad Vintage there. That was nice. Oh, awesome. Hello, Lou. The king. The king. After that, we went to a little bit of a little bit of it.
Starting point is 00:38:42 Hardlaw 15, 15% off. That one's free, Luke. That one's free, Luke. Played the new heaven in Atlanta the next day. Oh, how was that? Crazy. Really? Huge.
Starting point is 00:38:54 It was really good. It was huge. Had possibly your worst nightmare happen, we very quickly ran out of some sizes of just black shirts, right? Like a more basic design. Overcast will send. merchery ups via Southwest Airlines. Sure.
Starting point is 00:39:15 And then a courier delivers them to you. So we don't ever have to go to whatever. If the courier is good, they'll do that. We got a real bad courier who just dropped our merch off. We found out at the old masquerade. And Casey and I circled the new masquerade, talked to every employee, talked to Elena of from the masquerade, asking for a person that they said they dropped it off with all day. And they was just gone.
Starting point is 00:39:42 Just gone. Just never, never got to you. We got one box and we got another box eventually sent to us. And then there was one thing that kind of got misplaced. Nightmare, right? You know when you're like, thank God this re-up is coming? Yeah, we need this re-up. Thank God.
Starting point is 00:39:58 Yeah. We are burning money if we don't get this room. Yeah, exactly. Leaving money on the table. Yeah. Gone. So that fucking... I fucking hate dealing with reordering and ordering and ordering and you're never right.
Starting point is 00:40:10 It's never right. There's always not a... enough or too much. Yeah, it's always one thing. And then there's the old, the good old, we could put it online at least.
Starting point is 00:40:20 Yeah. Someone can. Go buy this Hawaiian shirt right now online. Twitchingtongs.com. But yeah, Atlanta was awesome. Really good show. I think Atlanta's in,
Starting point is 00:40:33 you know, kind of having a rough patch in the like smaller, hardcore sense right now. Yeah. Just needs more bands. Yeah. So if you're in Atlanta
Starting point is 00:40:41 and you're listening, you got to start a band. Yeah. This is also when Lionheart jumped on, so the, like, shows went a little later vibe kind of shifted a little bit. Sure. But it was awesome. Saw Champ.
Starting point is 00:40:54 Didn't get to go to the store, but saw the King. Guilty Party. Guilty party. Call on that. That was for a champ. I haven't played Atlanta in so long. I'm dying to go back. This is the first time in quite a while, too.
Starting point is 00:41:10 I believe in Atlanta. I think it'll be back to the top. I think it'll be back up there for sure. I had a good time. Had to back up out of the craziest ramp with the trailer. Kind of almost got stuck, but we made it. Really? You got it? Yeah, we got it.
Starting point is 00:41:31 You're the trailer man. Next day was Nashville, which was fucking bananas. I love Nashville. It was awesome. Dying to go. I'm dying. to go back to that fucking 90% of these places. Dude, it was at a place called Brooklyn Bowl that had a bowl, like,
Starting point is 00:41:45 like lanes for the bands upstairs. Just section off. Do you get some chicken somewhere? I, what did I? Oh, you know what happened? I went to work out and all of catering got eaten. Yeah. So I didn't get shit.
Starting point is 00:42:04 So you didn't go get paddy bees or something? I don't remember what I did, to be honest with you. I think we had cookout after. I think I was just waiting. The night is saved. Yeah, yeah, truly. Obviously, I was bummed to miss out on what everyone said was good catering. But if you leave, you leave.
Starting point is 00:42:21 You leave, you, that's up, that's on you. It can happen. The thing that I don't like is when catering is gone because you played. Yeah, that's bullshit. That's total. Which tied down that happened. Oh, really? I didn't touch catering.
Starting point is 00:42:35 I didn't play. I didn't get the Jets night one because because it came to the second I had to play. and I had to play for an hour. I got fucked. So that second night, it said for bands day two only, I said no. No. I want my cut. I'm going to get it all back.
Starting point is 00:42:55 Casey smashed his phone while trying to be a goofball with a bowling ball. That was good. Awesome. Then we had a day off drive. Oh, this is important. We had Texas Roadhouse. It was wonderful. We're driving to near Houston.
Starting point is 00:43:08 So I think what's that? What's the first state next to Texas? Arkansas? No, no, no. To the direct east. I think it's Mississippi or Alabama. One of them. I think it's...
Starting point is 00:43:21 To the east of Texas. Isn't it? Or Oklahoma? No, that's north. That's in the little panhandle. Maine. So we're driving. I'm driving.
Starting point is 00:43:34 I have Leonard Skinner on. It's Louisiana. Driving through Louisiana on our way to Houston. Okay. We see lights in the sky. I saw a flash in a distance. There's a thing called heat lightning. It was very human.
Starting point is 00:43:51 Shut the fuck up about heat lightning. No, no, no, no. Tell me about the alien. Literally, literally, in my brain, in my brain, I'm literally like, ah, it's probably heat lighting. Another flash in the same spot. James saw that one.
Starting point is 00:44:03 Another flash in the same spot, red. Casey saw that one. All of us went, did you see that? And there was two more in the same. same spot and we were kind of coming to a hill. So I was like, well, whatever it is, like whatever this factory is, this cement refinery or something, we're going to see it over this hill. So blah, blah, blah. Never saw it. Never saw the source of what that could have been.
Starting point is 00:44:26 Did you lose track of time? Didn't. Well, in the sense that it was 2 a.m. But no. Were there any owls nearby? No owls. Freebird was playing and I turned it up. If you're here. this. Yeah. It's always that part. I'm not even joking. That was the part.
Starting point is 00:44:48 I did turn it up and I was flooring it. I honestly God. So that was weird. How are you feeling about that? Do you feel like you've witnessed a phenomenon? I feel as though, so James is very eager. He's much,
Starting point is 00:45:01 much like me, where he doesn't really believe anything, but he's eager. I'm telling you, man. I don't know. I don't know, man. I mean,
Starting point is 00:45:10 light. The thing. the thing that felt good was all three of us saw it. Yeah. Like the three of us were all up. We were talking about Lunar and Skinner and there it was. Simple man. Oh my God.
Starting point is 00:45:28 That's the greatest song about it. When we didn't find the source and there was truly we were like in the woods. Like there was, it was a highway through the middle of nowhere. Perfect place for an alien to be. Not seeing. what I could rationalize as the source of this light in the same spot. Now, you know how when you're driving, it's night, but you're kind of keeping your bearings on where that was.
Starting point is 00:45:53 No idea. Saw something. And had to. There you have it, folks. It's proof. Aliens are here. Tom, DeLong, if you're listening. White, white, red, is the order.
Starting point is 00:46:06 It was white, white, red, white, white. Five? Yeah, it was five. How many people were in your van? Five. Chris and Nick slept the whole time. Or did they? Let's see.
Starting point is 00:46:23 Then it was Houston. We got into the Texas shows now. These were crazy. We rolled up to Houston. I mean, the hometown heroes are our home. Quite literally. Dude, shout out to Houston, man. Houston is back in a way that it has never been back before.
Starting point is 00:46:41 A big, sold out, wet. room. This was a sopping wet place. Beautiful. It was crazy. Merch was outside and there were Hornets nests wrapped around all these like power cords to plug in fans and I braved everything and I plugged in every single one of those fucking fans. We got some circulation out there. A guy got really hurt. So Kubla Khan, I never heard them stop or fuck up one time. They stopped.
Starting point is 00:47:17 This is the only time they stopped because a guy like balked his noggin and was bleeding. He was getting taken out on a stretch right past where merch was and doing the DX, the suck it as he's going. And people were like, yeah. And then Kubukon came out and finished this. Who is he sucketing? The crowd or Kubla Khan? The danger. The guy who got him.
Starting point is 00:47:41 Yeah. I'm fine. Suck my dick. Oh, man. This is where James and I. got the youth of today tattoo also,
Starting point is 00:47:49 which in the last week's episode, I said the wrong name Steven's gonna fix it for me, but it's cry later tattoo. Jess is the girl who tattooed us.
Starting point is 00:47:57 Cool shop. Check it out if you're there. It's the wettest, most humid I've ever been in my life. More than like France? Oh yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:48:05 This was, got out of the van, opened up the trailer, had to take my shirt off. Like it was like, there's no point in wearing this. Sound and Fury merch tent type way. Precisely.
Starting point is 00:48:14 Precisely. That was, I think the wettest I've ever been from just, like, walking around. That was crazy. Crazy. I had just gotten tattooed again at Soundof Fury, and I had the Tagaderm or whatever that shit is. Yeah. Sanaderm. And it just slid right off.
Starting point is 00:48:30 It was on there for over two hours, slid right off. Yeah, I've never been that wet. I was soaked. I was like pool soaked before we even play. It's disgusting. I hate it. But that makes you sound good. As a singer?
Starting point is 00:48:45 You think that's the salt? 100% dude being that humid and moist makes you sing better damn it's real cold air kills you wow cold is bad and when the AC is blasting in the venue I'm miserable really when I'm hot I'm physically miserable
Starting point is 00:49:02 yeah but then I'm I'm a goddamn cherubic angel if they say a big flying baby the next day was awesome there's only two more shows on this next day was Austin. It was half outdoor, half indoor.
Starting point is 00:49:21 Mohawk? Not Mohawk. Different place. Right by it. Right by Mohawk. Right by Stubbs. Taking Back Sunday and Citizen were around the corner. The Citizen guys came to the show.
Starting point is 00:49:32 Dope. Love it. Went to a place, Colin. Had possibly the best tacos I've ever had in my life. Tell me. It's called... Talk to me. Tequita 10, D10,
Starting point is 00:49:45 which I guess what is... What is 10 in Spanish? D. D. D. S. D. A. S. D. A. S. Yes. Had to walk past the Joe Rogan mothership to get there, which was interesting. But got there, kind of hole in the wall. Like, they wanted to look from the outside.
Starting point is 00:49:59 Like, it's like a little nothing. And then you get it. It's kind of big and nice. Just, I had, like, one of every meat. Everything was perfect. They had one called a Volkan, where they just put, like, cheese on a hard, on a hardchell tortilla, blast that until it's charred, and then put taco shit on top of it.
Starting point is 00:50:20 On a hard shell? On a hard shell. Was it flat hard shell? No, they veed it out a little bit. Okay. It was crunchy. The guy's asking,
Starting point is 00:50:28 do you want everything? I said, what's everything? He said, onions and cilantro. Yes. Yes, I do. It was perfect.
Starting point is 00:50:36 Some of the best tacos have ever ever had. And I've been waiting for that. So Tauria de dees. Yeah. It was 10 D. 10. D.E. D.A.
Starting point is 00:50:46 D.A. D. Yes. Oh, that's what it's called? That's what it's called? Oh, okay. Really fucking good. Was it 10 tacos for $10 or something?
Starting point is 00:50:54 I don't know. Who cares? Yeah. It was fucking perfect. Austin's very weird, very bizarre. Yeah. It's a music town. It really is.
Starting point is 00:51:04 They like live rock. We're not sure about hardcore yet. Nope. That was a good one. The stage had these like a big barricade and had these like speaker stacks in between. And there were two. So like James would stand on one and I would go and stand on the other. And then James would come and stand on one.
Starting point is 00:51:23 And then at one point, Casey by himself stood on one. That's fun. Yeah, we were having a good time. Saw a bunch of friends and stuff. It was good. And then the last show was Dallas, Texas. Was that the number one banger of all time or what? It was in Deep Ellum.
Starting point is 00:51:44 It was at a place called The Factory. it was a 2,500 cap room. Sold the fuck out. Completely sold the fuck out. Beautiful. To the very back. It was crazy. We were loading in and a guy,
Starting point is 00:52:00 I don't know how to even describe this, but it scared the hell out of us. A guy pulled up really close to the open trailer. He's walking at me like this, with his phone out, straight to my face. And I'm kind of like, whatever. And then he's standing there with me in frame. And then he kind of moves.
Starting point is 00:52:17 He goes, So, guys. And we were like, hey, man. And I look behind me, there's a NBA player, Jokic,
Starting point is 00:52:26 whatever, one of the, one of the Mavericks, I think, we're playing. Because the playoffs were happening that weekend. I was like,
Starting point is 00:52:33 okay, he's taking a picture of that, kind of whatever. Load in, keeping an eye on them. And as I'm going back, the bag with money and important stuff in it
Starting point is 00:52:45 is being, walked into the venue by someone else. And I immediately am like, oh, this guy's back. He came back. This time parked six inches from the back of the trailer. Like, you couldn't walk in between comfortably. Okay. And I go and stand with James because I'm like, we're going to get robbed.
Starting point is 00:53:04 And I'm not going to let James get robbed alone. I'm not going to like, but this is going to happen because now we can't back out. He was in like a crazy tricked out car. It was like really weird. He's doing the same thing. And then from kind of far away. He goes, just try to get my car into the mural, like to take pictures with. And it was just the weirdest vibe.
Starting point is 00:53:25 I don't know, you know, like we didn't know. So we took everything in the van, everything and brought it inside. Like all personal items, fucking GPS, like everything, you know. And nothing obviously ended up happening. But that was like- Because Dallas is where, that's where the van got broken into. Correct. And we ate at that same in and out.
Starting point is 00:53:46 as a redemption. Yeah. On our way out. But, um, the show was incredible. It was fucking. Deep Ellum is wild. Dude, it's wild. Wild.
Starting point is 00:53:58 At night, it's like, I've seen some of the like, gnarliest male to female interactions I've ever seen in my whole life. That was very much the vibe. And I don't remember it being like that like 10 years ago. No, I just think it's, that's the, that's the night spot now. That's where the fuckery happens. A lot of clubs, a lot of. A lot of drankin, you know.
Starting point is 00:54:18 Yeah. Big time. Saw the Riley mural. Beautiful. You know, paid respects. And what I got here? Insane venue. Weird guy with Carr, a huge show.
Starting point is 00:54:29 So the show itself was amazing. So Pain and Truth, now doing full U.S. tours and stuff. Yeah. I've only ever seen them really at Fest or when a billion friends are there. How do they hand, how does Michael handle the guest spots a lot?
Starting point is 00:54:44 They would have Dan from late. rest. He would did, I don't know the song names, but he did one like right away. Eventually James was doing the 200 stab wounds part. Nice. And that was pretty much it. So he just kind of does it. He just does it. It makes it work. And then there was like before James was doing the 200 stab wounds part, he would do the, he would do it himself. So they just, they just got it on lock, you know. They sound great. They're just proven that it's not some gimmick. They're just an amazing band and then that is just a secondary bonus
Starting point is 00:55:20 to it. Precisely. Beautiful. What a band. They were really good. We got along with them like, I think it's the eaves. Of course. Yeah. You're the same right here. Yeah. Very cool. And then we started to drive home from fucking Dallas to Chicago which is about 14 hours.
Starting point is 00:55:36 And you ran into me. A couple hours later. A couple hours later. You know what? And last thing, we got Texas for a long time was the only place that had a $50 scratch off. The rest of the country now has $50 scratch off. So Texas up to $100.
Starting point is 00:55:52 On the Common Suffering Tour, James and I got one. We ended up winning about $8.50 total. That's pretty good. Pretty fun. Three in a row from the same loves all hit. Boom, boom, boom. Crazy. This time, we got $100.
Starting point is 00:56:05 We each got $100 when we split it. His was nothing. Mine was like on the third scratch, 500 bucks. And you know how all those like, it's like that can be more that sometimes that ain't the end exactly so i was like i was like dude we're i'm rich man i'm rich and we're gonna make five grand you know it was only 500 but that was a nice little end to the to the tour drove home that's fantastic drove home was home for a day packed up moved and that's why i'm in a new place i'm in a brand new apartment that's right the lore continues
Starting point is 00:56:37 elsewhere had two days to unpack and then saw my beloved something about the tour you were on. Sure. Were you drinking your AG1 every day? I was drinking AG1 quite literally every single day. It's part of my regiment that I never go without. Yeah. Same here.
Starting point is 00:56:59 Hard lore would not exist without AG1 at this point. Our bodies would deteriorate, fall off the skin off the bones. You wouldn't believe it. We have so much more energy. We have so much more drive. What was it? 97% of participants in a research. studies show that they have more energy every single day from drinking age of one.
Starting point is 00:57:18 And listen, you can get more energy in a lot of ways. This is a healthy way to get it. It's a healthy way to do it that benefits your entire body. It's the vitamins your body's missing. Probiotics. Prebiotics. It is a foundational, nutritional drink. You're going to love it. Every morning, 12, 16 ounces of cold water, you mix in the scoop of powder. You're done. That's it. Even on an empty stomach. You can't do that with a multivit. Yeah, you can't do that with a multivitamin. It hurts my tummy. Exactly. This doesn't. Ever. And you don't have to pee brown.
Starting point is 00:57:47 You know? Yeah. You're fine. You're great. So if you go to athletic greens.com slash hardlore, you're going to get five free travel packs. Sound and Fury is right around the corner and it's going to be wet and wild. You're going to need to be hydrating your body and putting good stuff in it. And a year's supply of vitamin D you get when you go to athletic greens.com slash hardlore. So don't wait.
Starting point is 00:58:07 Do it right now. Do it right now. Pause. Go do it. Come right back. Welcome back. It's Manscape Time. Oh my goodness, is it ever?
Starting point is 00:58:15 You know, one of the things when I smashed my toe that I was relocating was all of my various manscape products. Those didn't hurt. They made it fine. They didn't do anything to you. Plants, bad. Manscape, good. Very good, yes. Why don't you just spray some crop reviver on the foot?
Starting point is 00:58:31 On my shattered toe. You're so right. Just dust it. Just dust it off. Easy. I use on this tour, I use the foot duster, which one is the spray of the, of the, Reviver. Crop Reviver.
Starting point is 00:58:44 And the, I brought the scrub, the silicone scrub. Oh, man, that must be awesome to travel with it. It feels great, legitimately, every night. I got to do that next time. I just have so much stuff in my toiletry bag. But I do not go anywhere without the Reviver and the preserver. One is post nasty. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:59:03 One is post-shower. So that you never have to stink. And if you use code hardlore, you can get anything on the site 20% off and free shipping. Father's Day is Was a week ago So I hope you used it I love you dad I love you so much dad
Starting point is 00:59:22 Enjoy that Trim your nose hairs Please please Back to the episode And then you met up with me in Chicago Was that your first show? No Okay so why don't you start with your first
Starting point is 00:59:37 Yeah I'm going from the top here There's not much you know It was a very short time But I will say, leaving for this tour On the way to Boston, where we flew into, ran into Johnny Kelly from Tape Bonaug. And it just felt like the best omen. Yeah, of course.
Starting point is 00:59:58 Never met a single member of my favorite band until that day. And he was so cool, so nice, was familiar with twitching tongues, which felt good. That's crazy. Was psych to talk about Sean because Haypery and Typo toured together a billion times. That's amazing. It just felt so nice.
Starting point is 01:00:15 He's tall as shit. I think he's taller than me and Taylor, which is cool. Just to know that that band is big, you know? And he was, yeah, all of them. I think Josh and Kenny weren't that big. Kenny's not as big, but like Pete and Pete and Johnny, big guys. He's drumming for Quiet Riot. He was flying with Quiet Riot.
Starting point is 01:00:36 So it was like Quiet Riot standing there. And that's being like, what's up guys? Johnny. Typo. And I have to imagine for them that feels like, wow, we really got the coolest guy. Yeah. Playing drums for us. Totally. You know? Totally.
Starting point is 01:00:51 Like, he probably gets that more than they do. I don't know what anyone in Quiet Riot looks like. I mean, rockers, for sure. For sure. But, like, Johnny, you look at his, like, Instagram and stuff, and it's all typo. Love that. Now, let me ask you something. Sure.
Starting point is 01:01:06 Any member of Quiet Riot, Johnny included, earmuffs. Do they have any other song besides Come On Feel the Noise? Definitely. Couldn't tell you what it is. Yeah, okay. I'm sure they've got like bangers where we'd be like, that's quiet, right? Yeah, yeah, good point. Good point.
Starting point is 01:01:22 Fair. But all those band, like that one band that the band that did Cherry Pie only ever needed Cherry Pie. Warren's, yeah. Yeah, Warren only needed Cherry Pie. They can tour forever. You know, they hate that song. I know. He like hates it.
Starting point is 01:01:34 I've read the whole thing about it, whereas like, we wrote the song last minute because they asked for a single. Yeah. Then the next thing we knew, the album was called Cherry Pie. The album cover was just a cherry pie. I don't even like Cherry Pie. Yeah. They were just rocking.
Starting point is 01:01:48 They just wanted to rock. Totally. So, first show was in Boston. We decided to bring back the song Good Luck from the repertoire, which was really fun to play. Boston ate at Taiwan Cafe in Chinat per recommendation from COA. Unbelievable. Really? If you're near Chinatown, go to Taiwan Cafe.
Starting point is 01:02:09 get the Jalong Bao, unbelievable. Wow. And then got coffee from a place called George Howell. George Howell. George Howell. Which there's a couple locations. And, you know, we're, we are allies of the trans and the gay community day one. Of course.
Starting point is 01:02:29 When I walk into a coffee shop and I see pink hair and a trans flag, I fucking jump for joy. I know I'm about to have the greatest cup of my entire. life. And that I did at George Howell. Happy pride. Just my usual. Oh no, they had a maple latte that was fucking crazy. Made with like locally
Starting point is 01:02:51 sourced. Fuck yeah. Maple? Yeah. Oh my God. You know me. We're similar where we kind of always get the same thing. But sometimes there's that sign that speaks to you. You got to get well at a place like that I get the thing and my thing. Very good.
Starting point is 01:03:07 I double Irish handcuffs. with a specialty drink and my Italian handcuffs. Yeah. Hey. Watch you want for me. Yeah. So started the tour in Boston,
Starting point is 01:03:21 had a great time. Haywire set in Boston was particularly insane. Yeah. Was it Middle East? Like, like, made me emotional to watch. Like,
Starting point is 01:03:31 like, I think that was the craziest set anybody in that band have played in any band in their lives. I see. They felt like borderline the headline. So sick.
Starting point is 01:03:40 And it was a big stage, but Austin sang on the ground. Was it Middle East downstairs? No, it was a place called Royale's fucking massive. Oh, okay. Huge place. Drain. Every single show on this was a gigantic venue. That was one of, I think, two shows with Scowl who seeing their development as a band is also, like, absolutely insane.
Starting point is 01:04:04 How flawless they sound and how flawless her voices. Wow. She can fucking wail now. Really? I've not seen them in quite a while. They'll blow you away now. MAD opened every show on this, who also talk about growth and development as a band.
Starting point is 01:04:25 They have dead and dreaming man on one guitar and groter on other guitar. So it's like kind of the two greatest Virginia hardcore rifers of all time, perhaps. They've got some pit parts that like genuinely shocked me every single night. So MAD, outstanding. Also, it should be said that mutually assured
Starting point is 01:04:49 destruction is an excellent band. It's an unbelievable band. Fantastic band. And it was on every show that we played and again like I can't say enough good things. True showman. Like an unbelievable even though they're like
Starting point is 01:05:04 my age and older. an amazing just step into like the future of hardcore yeah you know yeah I know exactly like their their next LP I'm sure will be like a generational classic uh who else was on this one I think that was it other than terror and drain terror is the greatest hardcore band of all time all time obviously and then every night the the constant thing that happened was that Drain would be in the back like fuck man
Starting point is 01:05:35 It's been a long day. Is this going to suck? Yeah. And then they get on stage and it rips and they sound perfect and the beach balls are flying. And like the way that they've found figured out like interacting with the crowd, they've got their little bits, you know? Yeah. Where Sammy does this thing where he has somebody up front if they're from, like, are you from Boston? The kid says yes, he gets him up.
Starting point is 01:05:58 He gives them the mic and tells them to go, like, say go crazy for drain or some shit. And then they dive. and the people are so psyched to catch him every night. Yeah. It's a great bit, man. That's lovely. Yeah, they've got to figure it out. Sounding that good as a four-piece should be a federal crime.
Starting point is 01:06:16 It shouldn't be allowed. It is infuriating. And I can't imagine how it feels for you having a six-piece band. Yeah, but that's fun. Of course, it's fun. I love it. We get to play eight times a year, so I just want to see all my friends in one place eight times a year.
Starting point is 01:06:32 Yeah. These Hawaiian shirts are my life's work. They have my legacy. I got one. I haven't. It's still in the wrapping. I'm still on. Put it on.
Starting point is 01:06:41 You want to put it on right now? Put it on right now. You want to take a pee break? Put it on right now. All right. Welcome back. Hello, welcome back. Now the show can truly begin.
Starting point is 01:06:52 You're fitted up. Holy shit. That looks good. It fits perfectly. I'm telling you, I worked my ass off. You did it real good. I wear a size large. And Richie and J.B., of course.
Starting point is 01:07:04 It's slings. shot. I couldn't do it without him, but Lord. I wear a size large t-shirts. This is a size large Hawaiian shirt. It fits me perfectly. I'm an Excel shirt, and this is a large Hawaiian. Really? Yeah, but I wanted it to be a little, you know. Mine's a little, yeah, a little.
Starting point is 01:07:23 Maybe we're the same. Maybe you're an Excel. We stayed at Sean Martin's house. Oh, that's right. For the first time. You saw some artifacts. Oh, my God. I saw some unbelievable memorabilia, such as this. and this and of course this this
Starting point is 01:07:40 this quote I don't remember it verbatim but this quote which is insane it's something like no one is exempt from a ruthless beating is on a plaque
Starting point is 01:07:50 from their management to them because that's what they said to their management when they reached out to them they said like don't like yeah we'll sign with you but don't fuck it up
Starting point is 01:08:01 to Sean Martin to commemorate a decade of perseverance determination brutality. No one is exempt from a ruthless beat them. I like you just the way you are, Mr. Rogers. So cool. That's amazing.
Starting point is 01:08:16 That's the greatest band of all time. Yeah. Simply put, greatest band ever. Philly was next. Where'd you play? Played at Union Transfer? Was it Union? Yeah, it's the electric.
Starting point is 01:08:32 Yeah, right. Union Transfer was where we played. Same place we played with Code Orange six years ago last time we played Philly. Hung out with Aaron Hurd for like hours in the back. Really? He introduced me to a place called Sagandis. Are you familiar? Fuck off.
Starting point is 01:08:53 Yeah, I'm familiar. I went in Detroit. No, I went in Chicago. Alec took me. Oh, Alex took you to Segani? He took me to Segani's. Okay. To Seagondi's nuts?
Starting point is 01:09:04 Yeah. The Sagan... bit. Aaron got me with it crazy good. Yeah. And then Gian walked in. I got him. And then we all tried to get Taylor with it and Gian blew it so hard. What do you do? I was like, Taylor, we're thinking
Starting point is 01:09:18 about going to this place called Sugandis Mountains. And Taylor was like, what the fuck is that? And Gian just goes, ah, suck on these nuts. He doesn't try to say Sugandis at all. Yes. But man, Philly Rock.
Starting point is 01:09:35 Even with the barricade. You got to defeat the barricade. I'm getting better at defeating the barricade. You know what helps is playing a misfit song. Yeah. I'll tell you what. Can I ask you something? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:09:49 You know me. You know I love the misfits. Sure. I love Twitchfits. I love this concept. Yeah. Will you ever play a different cover? Like in a regular standard set?
Starting point is 01:10:03 Yeah. I'm down. It's just that. That's the easy. It's easy. I would prefer a different one. But I think the nine out of ten people who want to hear a misfitz cover probably want to hear that. You think so? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:10:20 I don't think so. We're going to play a lot of different ones in a couple months. Maybe if one when we do that, we'll start. I think I think Sound of Fury ends the last caress era. Okay. You know? Yeah. The playing it consistently in the set.
Starting point is 01:10:36 I say good only because it's literally my least favorite misfit song. That's crazy. It's a skip. I love it in that it's a misfit song. Yeah. But I'm good. I just never need it, you know. That's fascinating me.
Starting point is 01:10:56 So you're ghoul's night out over last grass. Fuck yeah, dude. Goals is a goose night. There's a, there's a, if hell is where you want to be in the hell. I love that chord progression. That's a skip. That's your number one least. Is that just from overexposure?
Starting point is 01:11:14 It's over exposure for sure. It's that. It's probably ratfink. Yeah, ratfink is kind of ass. Yeah. And then... It just proves my point that like these guys saw ratfink and they were like,
Starting point is 01:11:25 this is unbelievable. Yeah. And they probably return to the fly because it's pretty funny. Dude, with Vincent Price. He didn't know what he was doing. No. You know what? And it's like that he was figuring it out.
Starting point is 01:11:40 But Lascaress, I feel like if you put the original recording on as a fan, it's kind of not my, it's mind blowing every time. Yeah, it's a great song that I just don't need. There's many examples of this. Of course. Mother is a great song that I never need to hear. Don't ever need to fucking hear Mother ever. I feel the same way about Last Cress.
Starting point is 01:12:00 That's, and I get it. Yeah. It's just a timeless, undeniable banger, which is kind of what you're supposed to do with a live cover song. sure but you're talking about a bandwidth I know but I can't I don't know if ever I can't bust out fucking astro zombies would go I turned into a Martian would go
Starting point is 01:12:18 20 eyes would go London Dungeon would rip London Dungeon is is in the cards there's a couple new ones I'm real psyched to bust out for my original band the Twitchfith Beautiful day off in Newark Delaware after this
Starting point is 01:12:34 Newark Delaware Oh because Philly was where we had Maddie Watkins sing World War 5 with us this beautiful triumphant moment that made me weep
Starting point is 01:13:01 on stage uncontrollably while moshing with tears of my eyes on stage which I don't think I've ever done so that added about eight years back to my lifespan so thank you Maddie for being
Starting point is 01:13:15 for joining us so awesome truly an honor beautiful day off in Newark, Delaware, which kind of home to some members of Year of the Knife and Simulacra and all them. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:13:29 Started off at Little Goat Coffee, which is where Mully works. Ah. Does all their design stuff. Fuck yeah. Oh, Lord. Good? Unbelievable.
Starting point is 01:13:39 I need to start taking... Dude, you know what sucks is? James is like off coffee. Why live a worse life? So because he's the day drive guy, that's not even on his mind and the other guys listen all the people out there
Starting point is 01:13:56 who are like I'm cutting back on coffee all it does is make your life more miserable I don't get it the other guys in the band are happy with the hotel like cup I need
Starting point is 01:14:08 I need pink hair and a trans flag I need a cold I just need a ice I need a cold brew you know so I didn't get a lot of coffee on this thing it kind of sucked that was probably my one biggest
Starting point is 01:14:20 complaint was I didn't just didn't get coffee. You gotta get out. You gotta get, we're out there. That's like, step one is like, where's the best cup? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:14:28 I want to start doing what you're doing and notating like good cups. Huge, dude. And if they have a tonic of some kind. That's done. Done deal. Which, which they had a,
Starting point is 01:14:39 what was it? Some kind of like pear. It was a PP. I remember it being PP because it was fun to say. But man, unbelievable. And then the cold brew was perfect. Then we went to a ramen,
Starting point is 01:14:50 place called ramen Kumamoto, which was recommended by Year of the Knife. That was gas, dude. Really? Outstanding. Wow. Tokyo grade ramen in Newark, Delaware. So you're doing good. You're eating good. Oh, my God. I'm having the best day. We go to the mall. Amazing mall there. We go to the movies. Have a great time. But then Xavier from Gridiron and Similochro recommended a place called Tony's Bistro. And it was one of the worst meals I've ever had in my entire life.
Starting point is 01:15:16 we were so disgusted and sickened by this meal from Tony's Bistro that the point where everybody else from Delaware was like, why would you go to Tony's Bistro? Oh. Oh, no. So Xavier, I know we've talked about this already, but how dare you?
Starting point is 01:15:34 I didn't know he was vegan when I asked him what we should eat, which that's a problem. You don't know what it. You should disclose that. You should, first off, I'm vegan. Second off, I really like this place Tony's Bistro. Okay, well, I'm not going there.
Starting point is 01:15:46 respect. There is something we have to talk about you and me. We got to talk about Wawa over Sheets. We got to talk about you. It's not even close. It is so close. It's not even close. No, because here's what...
Starting point is 01:15:59 Sheets is fine. Here's what it is. Every single thing I've had from there is just fine. Here's what it is. Wawa has a better, like, sandwich, like a better cold sub. No problem. And then they have their drinks, their proprietary stuff. Awesome.
Starting point is 01:16:16 Sheets has better hot apps, all the like the little gimmick stuff, and has a better gas station selection. It's a better place to stop at if you're on the road. I won't disagree with that. But if I'm hungry, if hungry is the goal and I want a meal, I would take the meatball sub from Wawa over any fucking cheese curd that Sheets can offer. Would you take it over the meatball sub from Sheets? 100%. I bet it's like identical. It's probably identical.
Starting point is 01:16:48 But as far as I know. And if the gobbler's in stock at Wawa... No, I know that. I'm burning every sheets to the ground. I can't have you proclaiming loyalty on the hard lore Instagram. I do what I want. A divided house will not stand, dude.
Starting point is 01:17:08 It's standing. I'm sitting right now because of that Wawa meatball sandwich I had. Still full from it. This makes me feel huge because I'm like... Doesn't you feel good? I feel great. I'm not even joking.
Starting point is 01:17:22 I know. I feel like a fucking superhero every time I put this on. Yeah, feels pretty good. Anyway, Tony's Bustro, I don't ever go to do. What a piece of shit place. Like I said, Baltimore favorite set of the tour was next show. No Barricade? I didn't know that most of these were going to be Barricade.
Starting point is 01:17:40 Sure. Or the biggest stage of all time. So, like Metro. in particular. I imagine that with no barricade would have taken the cake as best shows. Could see it. But Baltimore was like, look at this clip. This is exactly what you want.
Starting point is 01:18:06 That's the dream. People dive in, your friends, diving, singing, beach balls, getting shredded. Shredded up. I'm loving Baltimore. Went to Shake, Jack. Had a great time. Drove to Chicago, arrived at an Airbnb. Actually, on the way, we stopped at a bunch of rest stops in Ohio.
Starting point is 01:18:24 Okay. Ohio is one billion miles long for some reason. It's the whole country. Well, it's crazy that you get through one half of the country that's Pennsylvania and then you enter the other half, which is Ohio. The whole thing's Ohio. Pennsylvania, Ohio, California. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:18:41 It's crazy. It's endless. But the whole time, there's these unbelievable rest stops. Nothing in the rest stops are made in malice. What were you having? I had the best Dunkin' Cold Brew I've ever. had. Dude, okay. So in my new... In butt fuck, Ohio.
Starting point is 01:19:02 My new place is right, like, kitty corner from a Duncan. So I've been going often. I'm like, I'm full on. Like, no more like, yeah, Duncan's okay. No, Duncan's fucking great. It's good, dude. It's... When it's
Starting point is 01:19:17 prepared the way it's supposed to be. Yes. Scientifically smokes Starbucks. It's not even fucking in the same ballpark. Absolutely. The coal brew is not even close. It's unbelievable. Sometimes it's just made by a guy who wants you dead. Yeah. Yeah. Before, right before we started recording, Taylor and I went to it on our way back
Starting point is 01:19:38 from running errands. I got egg and cheese on a plain bagel. It's kind of my go-to, just like warm thing to eat. It looked like a Fisher Price egg. Like, it looked fucking hilarious. Absolutely. And the hash browns that she got were like watery falling apart. It wasn't made well. You know? Yeah. That's all. That's malice. It's okay. The thing is, But I'll go back tomorrow. It's for gamblers, Bo. Yes, dude. Because you're getting, when you go to Duncan, you're a real gambler.
Starting point is 01:20:05 Because it's poop or gold. It's a hand pay or it's bankruptcy. Or it's an ATM trip. Yeah. Yes. And there's no other. It's fine. And that's why I love it.
Starting point is 01:20:16 I love that. Because I'm a real game. Real gamblers love Duncan. Period. What else we got? Okay. Chicago. Got to Chicago.
Starting point is 01:20:27 Early. Oh yeah, we were there for three days First night at the Airbnb Can you guess what the first thing we did was? First thing you did was Portillo's First thing we did was order Portillo's Almost the entire band's first time Tell me
Starting point is 01:20:45 And guess what happened, Bo? What's that? We ordered it three more times Dude, I literally last night I watched two YouTube videos back to back One was the eight best hot dog place in the city and then the five best beef places in the city. And they say, this is like food critic shit.
Starting point is 01:21:05 They say like Portillo's is, it's kind of what we say about, kind of what we would say about in and out, where it's like this isn't some crazy artisional thing, but it's the standard. But it's, it is gonna be perfect and exactly what you're looking for every time. Exactly. I cannot believe Portillo.
Starting point is 01:21:27 Oh, that makes, dude, You don't know how happy that makes me here. I think, I've been thinking about it every fucking day. If this, why is it in Orange County and not in the valley? Everything should be in the valley. It all makes sense there. There's no fucking Alamo draft house here. There's no portillo's here.
Starting point is 01:21:45 You asked me the order I said, big beef with maz and hot peppers. Is that what you ended up getting? Every night. Every night I was in Chicago. I ate one of those. Dude, Jardenera is, is a thing. that I need the country to experience more. Yeah, they don't know.
Starting point is 01:22:02 They don't know. I got to try the Luz Portillo's collab. Yeah. I'll see if I can... I'm going to order it today. I'm going to order it when we're at. Okay. Okay.
Starting point is 01:22:11 I don't... That sounds like the perfect thing. Yeah. So deep dish here with Italian beef on it is like a thing. I had, so I had the tavern one that Jordan brought. Yeah. From exploding kittens. That was good.
Starting point is 01:22:24 Yeah, that was really good. It's pretty fucking good. So if that. was on a lose pie, I'd be in heaven. Okay, there you go. But I love Wicker Park, Chicago. It just felt like I was walking around thinking like, I get it.
Starting point is 01:22:38 Yeah, yeah. It's... I get why he ain't leaving. I ain't leaving. I love it here. It breaks my heart that I missed you. That was literally moving and just like tearing my hair out. That was one of the worst days of my life. It is one of the most... Like, I think it's
Starting point is 01:22:54 divorce. and like grief and moving are like the three most stressful things. Of human being. Murder or assault trial will probably be. But it was supposed to take four hours. It took 10 hours. They didn't bring a truck big enough for all my shit, even though I gave them.
Starting point is 01:23:13 Did they charge you per hour? Fuck yeah, dude. I got hos. They knew what they were doing. Which is crazy because it's like, every move I've ever done with movers is like two hours. That's what I'm saying. It took all day.
Starting point is 01:23:26 Were you not packed? I was packed. Okay. So they suck. Yeah. It was two dudes. Oh, they suck. Two bedroom apartment.
Starting point is 01:23:35 Like, I got a lot of stuff, you know. You ain't got the real rock and roll movers like we got here. No. You needed the rock and roll movers. Do they try to leave by not? They were like, yeah, this kitchen island's not going to fit. All you got to do is take the top off, though.
Starting point is 01:23:48 And I was like, okay, do you need a screwdriver or? Yeah. And they were like, oh, you want us to do it? And I was like, yeah, I think that would be great. And they're like, all right, we can't put it back together, though. Okay. Jesus Christ. Yeah, it was rough.
Starting point is 01:24:03 It was a bad day. Yeah, Chicago's unbelievable. I'm glad you enjoyed the neighborhood. The first, the, this is the one city where Twitching Tongues had played there sooner than God's hate had, you know? Like, God's hate hadn't played there in a longer somehow. Interesting. And both sets were amazing. Yes.
Starting point is 01:24:23 jumping into drums after five days of singing, pretty tough. Yeah, I can see that. But, you know, nevertheless, she persisted. Pequots, let's talk Pequots. We can talk Pequots. Pequods is the famous legendary date night pizza spot in Chicago. It's, you know, it's OG. It's not a chain, perhaps.
Starting point is 01:24:45 There are a few locations. Two, yeah. Two locations, but it's not a chain. It's a local, like, legendary spot that's supposed to be like the best one. open till four. And it was the best one. Oh, I've had unbelievable experiences. It was the one where it's like, oh, it's someone's coming in from out of town or oh, it's
Starting point is 01:25:03 somebody's birthday and we need something that's open late or something placed after a show. Go to Pequots. Yeah, exactly. My birthday, we all went there on time. That's right. This was one of the worst. This was maybe the worst deep dish pie I've ever had in my whole life. Pequod's is in the gutter.
Starting point is 01:25:17 It's in the shit. It was undercooked, barely caramelized. Breaks my heart. Truly devastating. When you drive that far and you can taste it on your tongue how good it's going to be and it's not. Yeah. It's soul crushing. Well, that's the other thing too.
Starting point is 01:25:33 You guys stayed far as fuck. Yeah, but that's, it was safe as hell. Yeah. There's, yeah. For any of my Chicago land guys, they stayed in like Addison. They stayed like way out Dupay. It was one hour from the day. It was so far.
Starting point is 01:25:50 It was so far. Aaron Osborne, our beloved was also in town on which night was that? Maybe Wednesday night? I can't remember, but I went with extortion. He came to the first show. Yeah, so it must have been Wednesday,
Starting point is 01:26:06 Thursday, yeah. We went to Pequots late. And there was, and James and Chris were there, and we got a thin crust. We didn't even... It was good. It was great, yeah.
Starting point is 01:26:19 He didn't even bother. Nope. But then we got Lou Melnades at the Metro delivered, and it's the best fucking thing I've ever had. Yeah. You're a Chicagoan. In here, you're a Chicagoan. 100%, dude. Portillo's and Lou's run the world.
Starting point is 01:26:36 Chicago ones. And then we went to the, is that the Cubs? Yeah, Riggley. Cubs game. Riggley's right there. At Riggley. Beautiful. And you had a dog.
Starting point is 01:26:44 It breaks my heart to say that the Dodger dog is complete and utter dog shit compared to to the Rigglyville dog. The Chicago dog is strong. That setup in California would be trashed within 10 minutes. It's beautiful. Yeah, it's really new. You get there and you scoop all the fixings yourself. So I tried to do it exactly like I like it.
Starting point is 01:27:11 Yeah. I made the most beautiful dog you've ever seen. Here it is. It was perfect. Legitimately perfect hot dog. It's a beautiful ball field too. It's just like a great ball field ballpark. It's a great.
Starting point is 01:27:25 Chicago's unbelievable, dude. Yeah. Yes. I'm addicted to Chicago. Love that. Where did I get coffee? I got coffee at the place with the DeLorean in it. Oh, wormhole.
Starting point is 01:27:36 Wormhole? Great. Used to be like really great. Now is great. Now it's still good. It's not like a go-to, but it's still good. New place by me called Electric Mud that I'll take you next time you're in Chicago. That sounds perfect.
Starting point is 01:27:49 It's like the dark matter or couch. Cafe. It's great. It's fantastic. We'll go in September. Four different kinds of coal brew. Oh, yeah. Love it. Yeah. You can do a fucking a flight of coal per. Oh, I'll do that. I love doing it. There you go. Perfect. Yeah. Beautiful. Yeah. You know, I just want to once again, shout Cosmic Joke opened both Chicago shows, which was great. Fantastic, dude. Yeah. Love it. I loved it. Angel Dust was also on Baltimore and Chicago with us, which like seeing them tune their set list to straight hardcore crowd.
Starting point is 01:28:22 Oh, interesting. Fucking masters, dude. Interesting. Masterful. The way that he, they've arranged the songs and like what they played. Like truly fucking insane sets both nights. And then Cosmic Joke, getting to do shows like this are really cool because Max been on tour with Drain doing merch for them the whole time.
Starting point is 01:28:41 Yeah. So Drain is like a, just a legendary camp of people. Well, you said it yourself. They could, they could have done this tour with. bands that could have filled bigger rooms. With a bunch of crap. Instead, they took the core, dude. No crap, all core.
Starting point is 01:29:00 That's Drain's philosophy. Yeah. Beautiful. And now they went out of the palladium just happened last weekend. It was awesome. Yeah, Chicago, unbelievable. I'm its biggest fan. That was this tour.
Starting point is 01:29:18 got a, you know, big shout out to the whole package. It was the best vibe of any, like, green room I've ever been in, I feel like. Dude, the Metro Green Room is nice. And that was, that was a very good vibe. People in and out. You were there. What was the burger you had? Oh, fuck.
Starting point is 01:29:36 It was from a place called the hideout. It was called the hideout? It was, yeah. Okay, well, so interestingly, owned by chef Philip Franklin Lee, who was the original drummer of a band called Alpha and Omega. which I eventually played drums in That's some full circle Managed by a fellow named Sparky
Starting point is 01:29:56 Who played bass in Alpha and Omega From the Valley Now killing it in the restaurant biz With Philip On like the perfect smashburger I can't wait to try it Yeah give it a shot You're gonna love it
Starting point is 01:30:12 I can't wait to try it Let's go over to the Discord And get some questions from people regarding the tours we both just did. Banana split or banana milkshake? Um, you know what's funny? As a kid I would have said banana milkshake,
Starting point is 01:30:26 but now I'm really into like coconut and all the fixings and stuff. I might go split. I haven't had a classic split. Dude, when you're here, you and I should go to Margie's candies. They have...
Starting point is 01:30:35 Artificial banana is one of the most repulsive... So you're a split man. Flavors in history. I would not touch... I don't want banana in my ice cream. the two should not merge. So you wouldn't do a split? I wouldn't do it.
Starting point is 01:30:51 But a banana split is a real banana. I don't think they shouldn't be together. Are you busy over there? What's going on? I'm making sure. It's called the drop in, not the hideout. The drop in, not the hideout. Phil Franklin Lee.
Starting point is 01:31:03 Sparky. Unbelievable burger. But anyway, Margie's candies, there's a picture of Al Capone in there. It's been around forever. So they have classic ice cream stuff. Very nice. Favorite honeycut mosh call? Oh, dude. He had a couple that were pretty good. The one that comes to mind is sending a part out to the family unit. What does that mean?
Starting point is 01:31:30 It's about like, hey, if you were lucky enough to have, like, a strong family, this is for you. This goes out to the family unit. That's really sweet. It was awesome, dude. It's a beautiful thing. About 11 people in each room. Yeah, yeah, exactly. Hell yeah, man. Me, just like, oh. Yeah, fuck you. What is the result of the poll you took on Twitter about shirts, the shirt brands?
Starting point is 01:31:54 I would love to talk. I did a poll on Twitter polling to see what brands people liked because I'm sick of fucking wondering and hearing people complain. Comfort colors, one with flying colors, but it's just not, it ain't right. There's no perfect blank out there, and that's the problem. There's no perfect blank, but there are blanks that suit most people, and you, unfortunately, are an outlier. I think that's... I got a fucked up body.
Starting point is 01:32:17 Short torso, long arms. And you know what's funny is I told you that the gray, fuck your attitude, twitching tongues, beefy that I was wearing. Love how that fits. Yesterday all day, I wore just a black one fit like dog shit. Yeah. It must be a thing where like the colored ones
Starting point is 01:32:33 are good, the black ones are bad. Yep. Yeah. Best thing you ate on the tour? Probably that Peschi's place I talked about in New Orleans. and then cook out legitimately. Yeah. I'll tell you what mine was, Bo.
Starting point is 01:32:47 Portillo's Big Beef. One of the greatest fucking meals in America. Do you like their fries? Are you a Kinkle cook guy at all? Yeah, they're fine. Okay. I'm a sauce guy when it comes to fries.
Starting point is 01:33:00 So if you're like, unless it's, you know, obviously like Burger King McDonald's, you don't need a condiment with those. No, you're right. They've mastered it in a way that nobody else ever will. True. Portillo's I would need some kind of sauce.
Starting point is 01:33:13 Okay. And it's like, I don't have time. I'd rather eat two hot dogs and a big beef than get fries there. Okay. Amen, dude. So what I did was get two hot dogs and a big beef. We must discuss Haywire in Boston. Yeah, that was truly, truly like a legendary hometown set.
Starting point is 01:33:32 I love stuff like that. Crazy, man. I feel like that doesn't happen as much as from when we were young and the local would play two of four with a touring package. The local, it was like, everyone would be like, we got to show the touring band, this is what's up. And we kind of go really hard. The local headliner. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:33:51 Yeah, exactly. Jay asks, any moments on the parentheses already unforgettable tours that were really special? Yeah. I would say every single night when I would make my little entrance, you know? Yeah. I've done so many tours where not that I'm entering. I've been doing that the whole time. That's just like a new thing.
Starting point is 01:34:12 But it's on so many shows where you can't tell if it's going to be good until your three songs in. Yeah. And every night on this tour through my dead monitors where I can't hear anything, I can hear an ovation when that happens. People are pumped. That's a new thing for me. Fuck yeah. So knowing, going out and knowing, oh, shit, this is going to rock is crazy, surreal. Makes me happy.
Starting point is 01:34:42 me too man i was there you were i was a disharmonic rust warrior you were dude you were in the gutter with me makes me happy yeah thing you listen to yeah what was that what was an unforgettable moment for you uh probably honestly just something that that comes to mind was was just the fun we were having not headlining fucking rocks and just like touring and do it yeah dude yeah Yeah, playing direct support is the greatest slot. It's the best spot. It's fucking amazing. It's crazy.
Starting point is 01:35:18 We were not that, but, you know, we're on at eight. Yeah. And we get the sound check. So it's crazy. That's incredible. But yeah, it was like playing in Austin and looking and seeing Casey standing on the speaker stack alone being like about motherfuckers. Like that's hilarious. And you're just like that's heaven.
Starting point is 01:35:35 Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's the best. I really agree. It's like our camp, you know, our band seemed to. not have a bad time. Like having Mike in the band, for one, is just like, so unbelievable to me every day. Every time I look at him, I'm just like, fucking Mike, let's go.
Starting point is 01:35:54 Alec is the best. And he's miserable in the best ways. He's making AI art of everybody in the band silently. Right now. And dying, right now, probably, yeah. Dying laughing on his bench. Sean, the craziest person in the world. Staying at Sean's house is one of those moments where you see all the
Starting point is 01:36:17 hate breed stuff. I'm like, fuck, this guy's in my band. That's crazy. Yeah, Tom, I'm sure. Like legitimate musical childhood hero of mine. This guy was in a hybrid. It's somebody I get to play music with. And that's like, that's not lost on me to this day. Nice. And I get to travel with my brother.
Starting point is 01:36:34 With your brother. Yeah, come on. It's crazy. And again, you're doing something and you're getting this ovation, this kind of newfound excitement. Yeah. With your brother who was there.
Starting point is 01:36:46 Like this was, you know, this was your guys, you know. That's really cool. And three out of five, three out of four of the original guys that were there now, you know? In Dallas, the room was so big, there was two pits during Harmsway.
Starting point is 01:37:02 So in between, I said, that's two pits. You know, we want to see three. And James came up behind me and went, I'll see four. five. That was just an example of just having... That's not him.
Starting point is 01:37:15 Yeah. Why? Yeah, exactly. Just having fun and we got kind of loose and it felt really good. You should be. Yeah, I agree. Again, you've earned it. You've earned it.
Starting point is 01:37:27 Did Harmsway did get in and out in Texas? What's your opinion on? Was it real? It was fine. It was fine. Yeah, I mean, I agree. We call those fake in and outs in the valley. It was fine.
Starting point is 01:37:44 It doesn't cut the mustard, dude. It doesn't. I think you can gimmick it to make it really close, though. Like if you, if you extra- fried, chopped chilies, extra toast. You can definitely do it. But yeah, it didn't, just wasn't, wasn't right.
Starting point is 01:38:02 I'll do it because it's open late. But if I have a preference, it's going to be California, of course. I need to know Matt's opinions on the best. Texas barbecue? Dude, did you get that? He had, you know,
Starting point is 01:38:15 he had stuff going on. So he wasn't really hanging out. Oh, right. Yeah. He's in, I mean, they're dropping some shows
Starting point is 01:38:20 because of his father's health. Yeah. So all the best to him. Of course. And there can't truly like unbelievable group of dudes. Yeah, really cool.
Starting point is 01:38:29 So didn't, didn't talk to Matt quite as much as the other guys. Sure. Yeah, of course. Didn't, I think the only time
Starting point is 01:38:36 we even like really all ate together was that Pappy's place in St. Okay. But no, didn't, didn't, oh, he was very excited about us having cookout. Okay. Like it was like, look out, man. Oh, I told him, there you go, buddy.
Starting point is 01:38:51 One night, dude, this is a good story. In Richmond, someone brought him, do you know what a pinwheel is? If somebody offers you a food item called a pinwheel, what do you? There's two things I can think of. There's a pepperoni pinwheel or like a chocolate and marshmallow pinwheel. Okay, so I went sweets, right? I'm always going sweets, you know. And he, I went up to the green room after the show after they were done playing and he was, he was hanging on.
Starting point is 01:39:14 He said, you want a pinwheel man? Like somebody brought these for me. And without thinking, I was like, absolutely. Thank you so much. And just grabbed one. I didn't want to be rude. I had to walk. Matt, I'm sorry.
Starting point is 01:39:25 I had to walk out. It was like baloney and mayonnaise. Oh, okay. That makes sense. Yeah, there's like a cold cut pinwheel. That's what it was. So I like, I walked out of the rules like, looks around true tomorrow and like just had to spit it out. It was an absolute nightmare for you.
Starting point is 01:39:41 It was so much. You're sick, man. But thank you, Matt. Thank you, Matt. When writing music, how do you decide what parts fit for TT, God's hate, dead body? Sometimes I'll write a thing for T.T. And Taylor will say, that's two, God's hate. So I'll go, okay.
Starting point is 01:39:59 And then it'll become God's hate. Dead body, there's no overlap. Mm-hmm. is everything. So that's very much God of it, world of its own. Separating twitching tongues and God's hate is only hard because like we want twitching tongues to still be hard, but there's some things that are so hard that it's like,
Starting point is 01:40:22 this kind of should, come on, this should be something else. And then inversely, how about like the melodic parts on some of the God's hate songs? Yeah, that is interesting. There's only a few. We use those sparingly so that they're events. in each songs, you know. But yeah, like mass murder of the song when Taylor heard that was like, this should have been.
Starting point is 01:40:42 I was like, well, it's not. We didn't. It can't be. To it. Is there a trick to longevity and touring or do you just got to thug it out and do what you got to do? I think you got to thug it out and do what you got to do.
Starting point is 01:40:54 I think I disagree. I think there are ways to make things easier. But I do think it's not for everybody. No, you got to get there too. You can't just do a bunch of tricks and suddenly it works for you. No. No, you do, I think everybody has to grind first.
Starting point is 01:41:09 Everybody. And then you'll get to a point where your body is breaking and you'll figure ways to make that all better. Sure. And ironically, it's kind of working harder. It's like, I didn't, I worked out five days a week on that tour. I didn't miss a day. It's crazy. And that I felt really fucking good.
Starting point is 01:41:27 Got home, had to move, had to miss a few days, I feel like shit, broke my toe. Yeah. That's the same thing as like when you're running and you stop running. you can never run again for some reason. Exactly. I ran a marathon last week. I didn't run for three days, and now I can't run ever again.
Starting point is 01:41:39 Bed ridden. It's real. Yeah. How do you feel about the new Fortnite season and how basically every game ends with 10 motherfuckers and cars? Not saying I hate that gameplay, but it feels like the only way
Starting point is 01:41:50 and I need me some variety. It's different. But I don't hate it. I don't. I adapt. When I've played, I've not run into, when I've been in Final Town,
Starting point is 01:42:01 I've not run into many cars. I didn't notice that being a thing. to be honest. Lately? I mean, by lately, like over a month. Oh,
Starting point is 01:42:09 it's different now. It's different now. It's car, it's Mad Max now. Aha. Oh, the Metallica thing went up today. I gotta go.
Starting point is 01:42:17 Yeah, we gotta get off and play. I like it a lot, personally. I like it more than if you don't have water bending, you lose, which was last season.
Starting point is 01:42:26 That sucked, yeah, okay. That sucked, man. Getting snout. I'd prefer getting run over by a car. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:42:32 Than being sniped with an ice, with a fucking snowball from across the map. That sucked. 100%. If you could write entrance music for any wrestler you haven't done, so who would you pick? Cody Rhodes.
Starting point is 01:42:48 Would you really? No, I'm just thinking like who's going to make you the most money. The Rock's new music. I would, you know what? I think Osprey's music could get a makeover personally. And he's hot. I'm with you. Unlike, say, swerve, whose music is literally perfect.
Starting point is 01:43:09 That shit, that's a banger. It's never changing. I think Eddie Kingston should have an original New York hardcore song. Dude, great idea. He should have set it off too. I'll be right back. Let's see. Best time wasters when you don't have anywhere to be before playing a set.
Starting point is 01:43:32 Now, that's fun. You can speak to this because you just did this at Tideown. like you waited until whatever time to have your two sets how are you because that's the worst feeling in the world is is killing time before yeah but I'm a pacer dude I pace around the entire venue all day yeah I saw you like three times
Starting point is 01:43:52 yeah I just I'm everywhere I pace I don't I'm terrified huh I'm terrified I just hate waiting I'm not and once it's time to play I'm like oh cool great I'm ready yeah that's but the anticipation before then is fucking miserable. Time wasters.
Starting point is 01:44:09 I don't know. I mean, it depends on how much time you have. You can work out, play a game, fucking go eat, get a cup, whatever. Yeah, love getting a cup. Time wasters, I don't know, fucking learn how to cartwheel or something. Figure it out.
Starting point is 01:44:29 Do the perfect cartwheel. One perfect cartwheel. There were supposedly some push pits at the Chicago show during God's hate, how does it make you feel? Whatever keeps you moving, brother? I'll say this. if a push pit is like never has the the thing where a guy like is like looking around where it's just always it's moved just ants move ants marching it's the coolest thing it's the cool it's way cooler than than like hardcore dancing like it looks that will go that far it looks cooler from stage the chaos of just like yes a boiling water looks fucking is cool but when i see when i look out and i see the sickest move ever that's that's where i go what I like what I like about a push pit
Starting point is 01:45:12 is that you're not practicing that at home that's an authentic just yeah but that's the game dude that's for the love of the game we've all been there yeah I have and I'm saying that's what I'm saying it's a little silly that's how you figure that's how you become takes 10,000 hours to master something you know
Starting point is 01:45:33 what is it what's the quote like don't be of Bruce Lisa don't be fear not the man who's thrown 10,000 punches one time, but the man who's thrown one punch 10,000 times. That's me. Spin kicking. Spin kicking, yeah.
Starting point is 01:45:49 Colin, do you have specific ways to maintain your voice when doing a night of double sets? Ah, no. Do you have to do twitching first? I have to do switching first. For like physical exhaustion purposes. I can't do drums all out and then be a showman.
Starting point is 01:46:07 Yeah, right. I got to sing and then sit. That makes perfect sense. 100%. Yeah. Wait, maintaining your voice, though? No, it's a fucking crapshoot for me every time. Sad.
Starting point is 01:46:18 Bo, do you have any particular warm-ups you do before your set? I know you do a thousand push-ups now. I do a couple hundred push-ups. Before Rockville, I didn't, that very first one, that big outdoor fest, didn't warm up at all, just went straight to stage. And my hand, like never before, froze up in a way where I really couldn't play during one song. So you just had to, like, full arm. I had a full arm at like Jeff Hannan.
Starting point is 01:46:43 Full arm. Picked like this. Yeah. Yeah. Just like that. And then eventually it came back. It was like I just like lost circulation for a second. But now I just kind of like downpick for like five minutes just as fast as I can. Just kind of warm up a little bit. That's all. That's cool. Stretch your neck too. God. Oh yeah. Totally. Stretch that neck. Top five fried chicken sandwiches. Oh. I had Jollybee yesterday. The Jollybee chicken sandwich might be the most satisfying crunch I've ever had.
Starting point is 01:47:13 in a chicken sandwich. That's a chain. That's a chain. Now, I will say the actual fried chicken was really bad. That may have been... You might have had a bad bad. It might have been malice, though. May have been malice.
Starting point is 01:47:25 I would never judge a chain off of single visit. Yeah. You know what I mean? That's tough. Because it's like, here, you go into the Panorama City location, you know that they are making it with such fucking pride. So we'll try it again when you're here.
Starting point is 01:47:43 You heard that crunch when I did, yeah. That was undeniable. So I had, that doesn't happen with malice. I had just like a drumstick at first and I was like, this ain't better than pop. I was like, this is kind of whatever. Then had the chicken sandwich and I went, okay, this is different. Yes. Then had the Ube pie.
Starting point is 01:48:01 Oh, see, they've sell out of that near me. Incredible. Crazy. Did you try the gravy? Oh, yeah, had the gravy with, I did your move. I did exactly. You did the skin and the rice and the chicken over. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:48:13 delicious. But top five. Of chains? Yeah, I think of chains. I would go, I would go Jolly and Bee, Popeyes, Chick-fil-A, what else is there? Dave's Hot Chicken. Oh, I would go Jollybee, Dave's, Popeyes, Chick-fil-A, Wendy's. There you go.
Starting point is 01:48:36 I think I agree with that entire list, actually. Dave's is goaded, dude. Dave's is unreal. real. It's so good. I wish you liked the sauce, man. It's so good. I try it every time. I do try it every time. Same thing with Keynes. What's an album or band you
Starting point is 01:48:53 try to your hardest to convince people to like? Wow. I mean, it's probably Primus for me, but I'm done trying. If you don't like it, it's your problem. I think that's kind of the way. For me, it's probably Metallica, dude. You know, nobody really...
Starting point is 01:49:11 God, I don't know. Not many of my friends like typo, and I was one of them for a long time. That's probably one where people are kind of like, I don't really get it. But that's not that's not that out there. Bjorke, probably Bork. Really? There are the people who like Bork love Bork. I just don't know any Bork like haters.
Starting point is 01:49:39 I know people who just kind of, yeah, that's true. Nobody hates Bork like they hate Primes. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. Like coheed people fucking hate See? I love them But I'm done convincing anybody anything I get it
Starting point is 01:49:52 Would you rather have cow udders or a turkey gizzard Like on me or eating? Cow udders for me I do too well that's an organ If you want that remove that's a whole thing A gizzard's just neck Yeah you know what that would you would long You want to have a fucking that on your face
Starting point is 01:50:11 Rather than inside your shirt I'd wear a dope bandana all the time. No, you wouldn't. You would be so self-conscious about your fucking gizzard, and I would make sure. What's with the hate on Zaxby's?
Starting point is 01:50:25 It's fine. It's not hate. It's just a place that is also dependent on the sauce. So to me, it's the same thing as like Keynes. It's just kind of like, yeah, it's chicken. Five albums you guys consider
Starting point is 01:50:35 to be required, hardcore listening. Okay, that's good. Age quarrel. Should we go do this together or several? Separate. We're going to have separate answers for sure. Required listening hardcore albums. Number one, Chromex, Asia Quarle. Number two, bad brains self-titled. Number three, hatred satisfaction.
Starting point is 01:51:05 Number four, agnostic front victim and pain. Number five, minor threat, filler. Very good. I think I'm going to go Agicorrel Bad brain self-titled Hey Breed Satisfaction So we're right there Yeah
Starting point is 01:51:23 I would put that negative approach Ooh And And you kind of threw me For a loop With Mind of Threat actually Yeah Because that's a really good point
Starting point is 01:51:35 You know what I'll go Yeah I'll go mind of thread I think that makes perfect sense like those that's just that's not like more advanced it's not marauder marauders the next step you know you don't need I mean nobody it's not required right you'll you'll get there naturally but like required yeah you got it you got to pay respect to the origins to understand what is even happening now
Starting point is 01:52:05 why it's happening that that's really good uh having never seen drain live but love their records do you think they could be the next band to cross over like turn style they definitely have the potential and the talent to. They have all the means. Now it's like just about finding that turnstile lottery ticket, luck of the draw
Starting point is 01:52:27 moment. Yeah. Anybody else pre-gaming for Shadow of the Erd Tree? Absolutely. That's the Eldon Ring D.L.C. coming out? Yeah. I just started over. You're streaming it, right? I streamed once. Just to see how it looked and it looked incredible.
Starting point is 01:52:43 Yeah. Mine's still in the the plastic wrap. It's an amazing bit at this point. I got you, buddy. Well, one day you'll start and we'll have a great time. I am, here's a good example. Dr. Disrespect recently started playing it. It's so entertaining.
Starting point is 01:53:01 Both third. I'll get you O.P. in 30 minutes. Yeah, but do I want that to? Yes. It gives you all the tools to do it. Why not use them? Yeah. I suppose.
Starting point is 01:53:12 You don't, though you don't have to stroke. Miyazaki himself said people who play with guides, it's a completely valid way to play the game. After Europe, after Sound Fury, I'm pretty much home for two months and that'll be... You're going to need it. That'll be video game time.
Starting point is 01:53:28 You're going to love it. You're going to be so in that you're going to go back and play Demon Souls and you're going to be like, wow, this looks so much better. Really? It was a remake by a different studio. So they're like, it was a PS5 kind of like launch title. So their goal was graphical fidelity.
Starting point is 01:53:44 Gotcha. And it looks crazy. When you guys are 100 years old and they have a new hard lore, they'll have to fucking kill it, pry it for my cold dead hand. Do you think your bands will be considered goats by them? That would be nice. That would be nice. I hope at the very least the impact of this show means something later. Absolutely. The work we're doing now putting on for bands and introducing people to new things.
Starting point is 01:54:09 I hope that that counts. I can't for a second. Dude, especially, we haven't talked about this. I got a lot of comments, people coming up to me about Hardler on that tour. All great positive things. Lots of, I'm at work. I listen to you guys every week. Yeah, I love that one.
Starting point is 01:54:32 A lot of, and a lot of, like, got into this band or your band or this tour because of the, like, that's all we really want. That's the dream, man. I got a really funny one at Todd Down. And, man, if you're listening, just know that you made my, many people laugh. I was walking to the outside area to the little Caesar's truck. Yeah. And a guy goes, a big guy goes, hey, it's you.
Starting point is 01:54:55 You're a weird guy, man. Yes. I paid him. I paid him to do that. Yeah, I didn't know how to react to that. But yeah, no, that's the dream. So we hope at the very least, you know, this matters at the end of the day. This is a resource we wish we had.
Starting point is 01:55:13 Absolutely. This is kind of bridge nine suggestions. without all the terrible shit. Without all the underage weirdness. Anyway, most winnings on a Celo game. A couple hundred bucks probably. Three or 400,
Starting point is 01:55:30 I think I won one time. Highest loss, three or four hundred is one time. Yeah. Less than that, but definitely just even. CEL is great, but Jesus.
Starting point is 01:55:40 I love it. We are all well aware of your justified love for warning, but do you fuck with 40 watts on at all? Big time. That makes sense. It's less metal. They're not a metal band. Do you like,
Starting point is 01:55:53 do you like Bellwitch? Seems like, you know, they're kind of in that vein. I think Paul Bearer is the ultimate example of like what music influenced by warning can become. Cool. Their new record is unfucking believable. So if you're looking for something on the heavy side emotionally, check out the new Paul Bearer.
Starting point is 01:56:13 If you just want more of Patrick's voice and his beautiful melodies and the 15 minutes, and the 15 minute songs that he writes. Check out 40 watts on. Because there's a part, the thing is he, he like, all the songs culminate in this like 30 seconds in the middle. That is like the most beautiful devastating anything you've ever heard.
Starting point is 01:56:32 And then he comes down. Really cool. There's nobody like him that writes music. Did you talk to Maddie from Year of the Knife leading up to the show? Oh yeah, I was like, please do this. Like, it's time. Was she psyched on it?
Starting point is 01:56:51 Yes. She was very psyched before and after, you know, texting me after. And it's like, to me, it just felt like the honor is so all mine, you know, like for just being able to be involved with this beautiful moment. It's no exaggeration that watching the clip got me emotional from wherever I was. It's. Yeah. Crush me. Favorite gas station snack or beverage while in the room?
Starting point is 01:57:15 What's your go-to? this is a great question you're out of loves you know now okay we're out of loves yeah now I'll get a yellow Gatorade Zero love Gatorade Zero dude a 12 ounce sugar free Red Bull
Starting point is 01:57:30 an ice cold Fiji this is all one bag right holy shit this is 18 and then maybe some combo the pepperoni pizza combos if they got them with the pretzel ones oh this Taylor's favorite snack is it number one's
Starting point is 01:57:46 fucking awesome. Everybody knows Big Tay. I like, dude, the white chocolate Kit Kat. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 01:57:57 Excellent. Dude, you're a snacker, huh? Yeah. Wow. But I'll get like one. You know,
Starting point is 01:58:02 I'll get that and then that'll kind of be like all I eat for like six hours. Yeah, squirlet away. And then chips, it has to be available at the gas station, which like my favorite snacks rarely are. You know, like the hot and spicy cheese it is.
Starting point is 01:58:16 is rarely available. Yeah, sure. I think that's the best cracker of all time, you know, other than Christian Bale. What are yours? So we went to Love's exclusively. I was also doing some research on a theory, a phenomenon I found. Oh, my God, dude.
Starting point is 01:58:36 Fill us in. This is unbelievable. Yeah, I can't believe. I forgot. So I've been noticing for years, but pre-pandemic, I had noticed that Love's bathrooms, The men's room bathroom, the door would have a wear in it from, and I noticed myself doing it. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:58:53 I've never opened a door at a bathroom by the handle ever. I always go full body. Full body, fist. I see other guys doing it going in. The inversely, the women's room spotless, no marking on the door. Now, don't get me wrong. I believe there are more male truckers. Yes.
Starting point is 01:59:15 on the road than female, of course. But we're talking nationwide. Oh, it's ever, it is universal. It's universal. So I started just kind of documenting where these were and what I was seeing. Two developments, two things that I thought were really interesting. Three, actually, the first being, be very careful when you're taking pictures of the doors of bathrooms because people don't like that. Two being, loves is now the newer ones.
Starting point is 01:59:45 there is no male door. There's the female door and then the men's room is like the hallway type entrance. So it's like they caught on and they're tired of replacing this door. We're replacing doors. Let's just make it like a little maze entrance
Starting point is 01:59:59 and then you're in. So that's happening. The other thing is people have begun tagging me when they've found these and they're finding examples in other places. My control group is loves. Somebody tag me in one at a wedding banquet hall.
Starting point is 02:00:20 Same result. Now, at a wedding. Now, the thing is, are we doing, are we as men doing this because we don't want our hands to touch the nasty male handles? Or is it because our primal instinct is just like, let me in? I think we got to punch or shoulder check our way into a scenario. I don't, I don't know. I don't touch the handle for sanitary, sanitary purposes. Sure.
Starting point is 02:00:51 That's why I do it. Because I already have to touch my penis when I pee, which I try not to do anyway, you know? So I don't have to wash my hands. I don't like to pee to wash my hands after a pee. I don't like washing my hands. I like to just drape it over, let it rock. Give it a shake. Give it a wag with the pants, you know, use the pants.
Starting point is 02:01:11 You're an animal. I got a system so that I don't have to touch it. I got you. Because I don't want to wash my hand. So I wash my hands every time because I love using the fucking the pumice. Yes, but dude, so often they don't have paper towels. Dude. And it's so much nastier to wash and dry your hands with a fucking blow dryer than it is with a paper towel.
Starting point is 02:01:30 Unacceptable. But yeah. So somebody tagged me in the wedding venue bathrooms. That's going to be way more 50-50 than there are like truckers and people on the road. So that's an interesting one. And that's the real Matthew McConaughey smoking a cigarette in. true detective moment for me. We got to just set up in front of
Starting point is 02:01:48 a bathroom one day and watch what happens. He's like, what are you doing? Nothing. Just go in. But anyway, trust me. When I walk into a bathroom or into a bathroom, walk into a loves, I'm grabbing a diet something.
Starting point is 02:02:06 Typically, Dr. Pepper or Coke. That's my go-to. Nice cold. The next thing will be the sustenance, so it might be hard-boiled eggs. It might be pork rinds. I used to love the mozzarella stick
Starting point is 02:02:23 pepperoni cups. Love those. Love those. There's also these new ones that's just like cooked chicken in a little thing. And it's, I think it's like maybe 100 grams of chicken, so good macros on that one. And then then I need a little treat. I love the
Starting point is 02:02:39 Bearbell's protein bars. They taste like fucking candy bars. They're incredible. And I love... The Robert Irving, is that the chef that's married to Gail Kim? Who is married to Gail Kim? I did not know that. The crunch bar.
Starting point is 02:02:54 They're called like crunch. Those are fucking amazing. Those are great. The macros are pretty terrible. But my God, they're good. Really into the legendary, like the Pop-Tarts things. And then my new favorite one that Nick put me out to are the coconut puff bars. Oh my God.
Starting point is 02:03:10 A delight. You got to eat them right away, though, because they melt immediately. Done. I will. And that concludes our tour recap episode. We hope you've enjoyed these last couple fun weeks of recap. Next week, we got Tom Sheehan. We got Brooklyn.
Starting point is 02:03:26 The week after that, on the 4th of July, we've got Vinnie Stigma from Magnostic Front. He's going to be so happy to know that. There's never been a, it's the most unbelievable time and place piece of marketing we've ever done. So we hope you all enjoy. Thank you all for watching so much. We love you. We will see you next week. Bye.
