and founder of Life-Centered Therapy
and Guided Self-Healing.
And you can reach him at LifeCenterTherapy.com.
And again, we'll have it on our website at Alliances.com. That's E-L-I-A-N-C-E-S.com. Welcome to the show, Dr. Andrew Han. Thank
you for being here today. Thanks so much, David. It's truly a joy and I appreciate being here.
All right. So Dr. Han, you're a specialist. I want to go really kind of jump right into this. First of all, with everything that's going on in the world and everybody affected in some sort of way, what type of, would you say, of the emotions that people are feeling, how can they best cope with things?
What I'd say, David, is you have to hold two levels at once in order to cope.
The first level is what we're all going through sort of on a personal level.
And the best way to cope with that is I would say,
if you could feel whatever is coming up for you,
like you might feel anxious or you might feel depressed like you might feel anxious, or you might feel depressed, or you might feel whatever, the very best thing you can do for yourself is find the experience in the body
that you associate with it. So if you're feeling very anxious, because you're cooped up,
and when you allow that anxiety, you just scan your body and you notice what you're feeling in
your body, there'll be a sensation. Let's say you'll have a tight chest.
And what then you can do is you can choose to bring all your attention to the sensation.
And then it's not like you're having the sensation.
It's like you're being with the part of you that's having it.
It's like you become sort of the holding witness to the part of you that's feeling this way.
And then you can sort of be with it and just say, tight chest, what have you come to share with me?
And as soon as you do that, you don't quite have the same feeling about your anxiety because you're not so identified with it anymore.
So that's the first thing I'd say.
So that's the first thing I'd say.
The second thing I'd say is, in this world, on a whole different level, everything, from my point of view, has meaning.
It's like life has meaning.
And so we're going through this, on a surface level, unbelievably difficult thing.
But it also, for each of us, has had a meaning that when we open to it, and we open to the deeper part of our hearts and say, how is this serving? We might say, I need it to slow down, or we need to stop polluting the
earth or whatever. So it wouldn't be so personal anymore. It would be like, you'd be taking a whole
different perspective that would be a larger perspective and saying, what is life revealing to us right now? And the best way it
can do that is this pandemic. And then suddenly, it's sort of like, you're not so identified with
the terrible things it's doing to me, you're in a much better place to say,
how is life trying to evolve? And how is this revealing something to us? And, you know,
from that point of view, you know, if you think about,
I mean, if I took a really radical example, Christ's crucifixion,
you know, from a very small perspective, from low down, you'd say that was terrible.
But from a grander perspective, you might say the whole world needed to open its heart
and maybe a sacrifice was needed for that to happen.
So your whole perspective on life and what's happening, it changes.
And I think that's the very most powerful way to be in relationship with what's happening in the world right now.
Dr. Hahn, talk to us about, you know, people are glued to their TV sets watching the news.
Not everyone, but a majority are.
And we're bombarded with 24 hour updates of everything
that's going on. What kind of advice would you give to people who, you know, are so consumed with
it? And, and, and, you know, seeing so many different things that are going on TV live and
happening. And, you know, unfortunately, the news is not reporting the best of news,
right? It's, it's very, what maybe can you help people do? And also maybe talk to us a little bit
about what happens with the programming when we watch it, and whether we're watching it online or,
or on TV that we keep seeing it over and over.
or on TV that we keep seeing it over and over.
Yeah, I think what it does is it, on the simplest level, it overwhelms us. It's like,
most of us can't take all of that in stride. And so we get overwhelmed. So the first thing I would say is, you might, and then it almost becomes like an addiction, you know, you can't even stop
yourself. So you have this double problem of sort of overwhelm and
sort of this craving, like I can't stop watching. And again, what I would say is, if you could
breathe for a second, and let yourself turn off the TV and feel the overwhelm, or feel the craving,
and notice the experience again, what I'll keep saying to you again is the body doesn't lie.
And if you can say, all right, what happens when I'm feeling this overwhelm, or I can't turn off
the TV, but hopefully when the TV is off, once again, you'll feel some kind of experience in
the body. And then what I would say is our role is to say, I'm going to be with that part of me.
say is our role is to say, I'm going to be with that part of me. So everything we're trying to do is get away from the identification of I'm overwhelmed to some aspect of me is overwhelmed.
And my job, who I really am, is the one like a parent who's going to be with the part of me
that's feeling that way by saying, I'm here with you. And I would say every lesson is going to be the same thing,
because it's just how do we not identify with this so much, but just say it's an experience
I'm having. It's not who I am. That's the best advice I can give briefly.
And I can't wait to ask you about the law of attraction. But before that, again,
you're watching, listening to me, David Kogan, host of the Alliance's Hero Show.
Make sure you go to Alliance.com, that's E-L-I-A-N-C-E-R.com to check out past episodes and to also be able to hear and see this interview again with Dr. Andrew Hahn, who is a licensed clinical psychologist and founder of Life-Centered Therapy and Guided Self-Healing.
You can reach him at LifeCenteredTherapy.com.
Once again, make sure you go to LifeCenteredTherapy.com.
Dr. Hahn, before we get into the law of attraction, which I'm dying to ask you about,
is you also, too, listeners and viewers, you may actually have the opportunity
to to see Dr. Hahn at one of the various experiences that take place at alliances,
because Dr. Hahn, you're part of the alliances community. In fact, maybe you could share
briefly with our audience what it was like the first time that you came to the alliances round
table, for example. It was heavenly, I have to tell you it was like there was such
diversity and so many interesting people and it really felt like every i mean you know what what
do we want in life we want to have a sense of we're all in something together and trying to go
in a direction together and i mean it really touched my heart i because these people with
all these different worlds but they were all, how can we make things better?
And how can we support each other?
And how can we build something together as opposed to just destroying everything?
And how can we stay open to everything that is in this room, which is remarkable?
It was just like, oh, I mean, it was I can only thank you so much for creating such a
wonderful container that we could all be so creative in.
I mean, that's what it was like for me.
And I remember it really well that time.
It was beautiful.
We're honored to have you part of it.
All right.
I've been dying to ask you this in regards to law of attraction.
So some of us know it better than others.
But does law of attraction work? And in the amount of time that we have, though, what is the best way to go about how do we tie of law of attraction, David. But let's say, I would say the deepest level, if I had one minute, is that we attract to ourselves exactly what we need in order to heal and evolve and grow.
like we may have a terrible accident, right?
And you'd say, how is that the law of attraction?
But maybe that accident is the best way life can teach you about something that you absolutely need to know in your life.
So you attract it to you.
And what you'd have to say is,
even though this is unbelievably painful, whatever that is,
on a whole other level,
life is revealing to me exactly what I need to attract
so that I can move forward in life and not be stuck someplace. So the first thing I'd say about
law of attraction is you have to know the key to law of attraction is not reacting to anything,
but to say it's not a problem, it's the point. And then saying, what are you trying to teach me
life? That's, I think, the deepest level of the law of attraction. Then, if nothing is blocking say it's not a problem it's the point and then saying what are you trying to teach me life that's
i think the deepest level of the law of attraction then if nothing is blocking you you can then begin
to say given my preferences what would i desire and the more what i would say is you're in service
to life and not ego the more likely it is to happen so if you say like i want abundance but
it's not because like i want to go and you know whatever i mean like you know just like not pay attention to the world or anything
you may get it and particularly if nothing's blocking it you can get it but what i'd say
is the most powerful way to be in in relationship to the law of attraction is to wed the personal
and the collective and to say what would really
be in the best interest of everything right now including me because i'm i'm part of it and i am
it and if you know that you're taking everything into account so it's not like you're saying i'm
separate from everybody but i'm like part of everybody it's like i'm a mystical cell in a body
and whatever i want to draw to me is in the service of me and it.
The more likely you are to manifest exactly what you truly desire from a place of purpose.
And that's what I would say in one minute.
So, Dr. Hahn, when someone goes to LifeCenteredTherapy.com, now, are you providing tips on what they can do?
Are you also, too, doing and conducting online therapy for people?
train a trainer who was in Taiwan. So we have trainings all over the place. We have certified practitioners and most of us do things remotely. I certainly do all my work right now remotely.
And I do therapy with people. We train people. We train people in how to heal and grow and
be free. Basically, what we're what we're saying is selling is freedom, because basically, if you could be with
everything inside, you could handle anything that happened to you. You might be upset about it,
but you wouldn't be overwhelmed by it. So we help people not know how to be really resilient.
And then we also teach something called the Enneagram, which is, I think, a very profound way.
It's the most powerful system I know for understanding people from the inside out.
And if you're running an organization and you know sort of your core motivations
and that of the people around you, miracles happen in organizations.
And we've been doing that with organizations.
And all of that is on our website.
So they can get right to you.
Excellent.
And with our last question of what we have time
left, I think it's very important to, again, right now, always in that, is what advice do you have
for parents that are out there, you know, now more than ever with kids being home from school or what
have you and going through certain, a lot of restrictions and that. Parents to be able to cope, and also within that too,
is to be able to help their children right through this as a parent to child.
I would say what's coming to me right now is I would take a tip from alliances.
What happens in alliances?
We're all in a room together, and we're all trying to get
someplace together. So it's not like we're fighting each other. We're saying, okay, we're all in a
difficult situation. Well, let's say we're all a team working on something difficult, and we're
all looking at it together, as opposed to saying, you're the problem, because you're not doing so
and so and such and such. We say, what would happen if we just said, all right,
you're not the problem. There is a problem. And how can we be in this together and think it through
together, whether I'm five years old or a grandparent or everything, we'll all have some
perspective that we'll add if we see each other as teammates and not enemies. And I guess in a nutshell, that's what I would say.
Phenomenal. Well, Dr. Hahn, you help your clients find a way to move through their pain and achieve lighter and better paths. Dr. Andrew Hahn, licensed clinical psychologist
