All right, well, welcome back again.
It's always amazing.
We learn so many incredible things from our heroes, those that are making an impact in
the world. And thank you
again for the feedback when I interviewed the founder of E-Entertainment. So make sure that
you go to E-Entertainment.com. That's E-L-I-A-N-C-E-S.com because it's the only place where entrepreneurs
align. All right. Are you ready for this? It's about health and it's about plastic
surgery. Now, wouldn't it be incredible to interview somebody who is an expert in that
and at the top of their game when they know about it because they're the only sustaining
original host of The Doctor Show after 13 seasons, world-renowned plastic and reconstructive surgeon,
we have with us today Dr. Andrew Ordon, and you can reach him at ordonchopra.com,
and of course, we'll have him on our website at alliances.com. Good morning to you, doctor. I am
so excited about interviewing you today. Good morning, and thank you for that intro. I couldn't have written it any better myself.
I need to jump in.
You look so healthy.
Like what's the secret?
I mean your skin tone and everything.
You just, I mean, you look so...
I'm in SoCal.
You know, I'm on the East Coast now.
We're winding down our 13th taping season.
We were at Paramount Studios for years.
This year we made a switch.
Obviously, for a good part of the year, we were taping virtually in my home,
suit plus pajamas. You know how that goes. And then we're winding down, wrapping the season with
in-studio shows. And it feels so good, so great to be back on set with live guests very cool
now you've been practicing for 35 years yes how have things developed over time from when you
first got into the field 35 years ago to now has technology played a big factor at all in it
years ago to now. Has technology played a big factor at all in it? Unbelievable. When I trained,
we did certain things. Yeah, it was the basic procedures, facelift, noses, breast surgery,
liposuction. But compared to today, I mean, it seems so primitive because everything has changed. We've studied which techniques work best. We've looked at outcomes, technology, instruments, all of that stuff has improved
so exponentially in 35 years that I chuckle the way I did certain things back then. We're doing the same things,
but with the aid of so many better innovations,
technologies, and where the biggest changes probably are are all these minimally invasive, non-invasive,
skin tightening, injections, fillers, Botox,
all those things.
It's a whole new game.
Talk to us about the non-invasive part because
we don't hear much about that well i like to say we have something for everybody and it's been shown
that if you if you start earlier nipping it in the bud you know taking care of those lines those
wrinkles maybe doing a little non-invasive skin tightening. And usually we do that with external devices.
They apply heat.
Typically it's radio frequency.
I like Thermage as a technique.
And you start that, you will get slight lifts.
And if you stay on top of it, you will age better.
I've been doing that and I haven't had to have a facelift yet it's coming
soon though how do i get the same skin tone as you i'm pink and you're okay guilty as charged
i probably get more sun than i should but i have the type of skin that tans i don't burn
i do wear sunscreen i take a lot of grief for my colleagues like dude you're too tan
I take a lot of grief for my colleagues like dude, you're too tan
It's you know, I try to get some outdoor time every day whether it's walking or playing golf or or whatever So I do believe in getting my vitamin D out in the Sun and you know
I practice what I preach as far as good skincare
I mean, I know part of it is I've been blessed with good genes. My parents aged pretty
well, but I do take care of my skin and that's, that's, everybody should be on the bandwagon
taking care of their skin. And the biggest thing is starting with, with protecting your skin
from the environment and, you know, treating it with, with moisturizers, cleansing, et cetera.
and treating it with moisturizers, cleansing, et cetera.
And again, when we return, we're going to ask Dr. Ordon about this particularly,
is what's the best soap to use?
If there was one item you could pick to use on your skin, what would it be?
Because you're listening and watching me, David Kogan, host of the Alliances Heroes Show. So make sure you go to Alliances.com because we've got with us Dr. Andrew Ordon,
the only sustaining original host of The Doctor Show after 13 seasons, world-renowned plastic and
reconstructive surgeon. You can reach him at ordonchopra.com. All right, so Dr. Ordon, first
of all, if there was one or two items that you could use, what would be those items?
And also, too, you mentioned about starting young.
What should children be using?
Well, children should be on a skin care routine, too.
The biggest thing for kids, make sure you lather them up with sunscreen.
We want them to wash their face in the morning and in the evening.
Make sure that they're protecting their
skin from the sun. And, you know, watch their skin. If they have issues with breakouts, with acne,
things like that, make sure that it's looked at. Because if it's not treated and addressed in kids,
it can lead to scarring. And as you know, acne scars are a very difficult issue to deal
with. We can make them better, but typically we can't get rid of 100%. So kids should be on a
basic skin routine as well. And, you know, to your question, what products are the best? Everybody's
skin is different. So you've got to experiment a little bit. What feels good on your skin?
When does your skin feel clean after you cleanse? You don't have any irritation.
You don't have any burning or itching. So there's so many great soaps out there. And I don't think
I need to name the names. You know the main brands out there.
You have to experiment a little bit. But, you know, it starts first with cleansing, exfoliating.
Then it's applying something on your skin to moisturize it.
And then finally, skin protection in the form of sunscreen or sunblocks.
What did you experience when people are obsessed with look. They're obsessed with their
looks. I mean, people will spend whatever to be, to feel younger, to look younger, no matter what.
Well, this is what keeps us in business. And cosmetic surgery is not something new. It's been
been done for centuries, centuries and centuries, obviously not
to the extent that we do it now. But, you know, if there's something that bothers you, if you were
born with something that you don't like, your ears stick out or bump in your nose, your breasts never
develop, we can safely fix that, make you happy. But, you know, part of the deal of what I do is not just the the
surgery the sewing the cutting it's deciding who's a candidate so who's a good candidate you've got
to do plastic surgery for yourself for the right reasons you have to have realistic expectations
it's not to get that part of the movie. It's not to save a marriage.
Those are not the right reasons.
The reasons are something bothers you.
You want to look your best and feel better about yourself.
So that's why I love doing it.
It's not life or death in most instances.
It's improving the quality of life.
And that's what keeps us in business.
You know, David, interesting enough, we're seeing what we call the zoom boom that people are looking at themselves more and more on screen because they're doing their own little productions and they're they're noticing something that they don't like
a double chin or i have a weak chin and profile or you know these frown lines are starting to show. So guess what? The Zoom boom has not been bad for
business. I love it. Again, we've got Dr. Andrew Ordon, original sustaining host of The Doctor
Show after 13 seasons. You can reach him at ordonchoper.com. And of course, we'll have it
at alliances.com. That's E-L-I-A-N-C-E-S.com. And you're the author of Better in Seven. This book addresses the do-it-yourself things that anyone can do.
So share with us one of those things that you would say the most important thing that someone should do is a do-it-yourself.
broken up into better body, better energy, better sleep, better sex life, better eating habits. So it has a little bit of something for everybody. And it's, you know, I wrote the book a couple
of years ago, and I re-released it with COVID because we're at home anyways. So why not,
COVID because we're at home anyways. So why not take advantage of a self-help book that gives you quick tips that you can kickstart whatever you want to improve on and why not improve on all of
it with some of our tips and better sleep. We know that so many people are having so-called COVID insomnia and sleep disorders and mental disorders
as it relates to it. So, you know, in the book, I go into, you know, using a little bit of
mindfulness, getting into good habits, sort of setting priorities of when you're going to go to
bed. You're not going to go to bed stressed out. You're not going to go to bed stressed out you're not going to look at your phone and computer right before going to bed
you're going to take some deep breaths so all these little tricks and I have
something for everybody make good reading especially during COVID it's a
good opportunity to improve yourself overall all right we've got some
questions from our listeners and
viewers one of those micro needling yes or no yeah we love micro needling what
it is it's it's sort of like aerating aerating your skin I don't know if you
play golf but you've seen it on the golf greens where they punch holes and they
aerate to make that green grow better. Same idea. It's multiple needles that you place through the skin,
and what it does, it stimulates circulation.
It stimulates collagen and elastin.
And now if you combine it with your own PRP,
which is platelet-rich plasma,
take your own blood, spin it, take the cells out.
And then if you apply that in conjunction with microneedling,
you're going to really see your skin luster.
Does it have long-lasting results?
It's going to last months.
We do it in the scalp to stimulate hair growth. We use it on the face, on the neck. And you probably will want to repeat it every few months or so, but it's a great technique. for one question and I th important one because you within your career, you'r
game, you're the go to pe
plastic and reconstructiv
and that what advice do y
out there who want to rais
make a mark in the world?
be so successful well it was perseverance I mean anything good in life is doesn't happen
overnight unless it's you win a lot you have a winning lotto ticket and the chances of that
happening aren't aren't very good so you know I happen to have two kids that are doctors also, one a psychiatrist and one a neurosurgeon, brain surgeon. So I guess
I set the right example. And what did I do? Well, number one, I didn't push too much. I didn't
over-parent. I encouraged as much as I could. I let them find their own path. And I think I taught my example that
I had a lot of motivation. I had a lot of perseverance. I think those are the keys.
And those are what led to my success, a long career, and I'm still going strong.
Excellent. Well, Dr. Andrew, you help your patients heal their view of themselves
and their view of their world with your surgery and your practice.
That's a hero, Dr. Andrew Ordon,
only sustaining original host of The Doctor Show after 13 seasons,
and you can reach him at ordonchopra.com.
